0:00:03 > 0:00:08It will be time for these two teams to settle it between the white line.
0:00:08 > 0:00:11He is going to fire towards the end zone.
0:00:11 > 0:00:16Touchdown!
0:00:16 > 0:00:19Going deeper.
0:00:19 > 0:00:22A one-man wrecking crew.
0:00:22 > 0:00:24Unbelievable.
0:00:24 > 0:00:29How did he do that?
0:00:29 > 0:00:34Unstoppable!
0:00:34 > 0:00:37Welcome to the NFL Show.
0:00:37 > 0:00:39On tonight's angst-ridden show I'm joined by two frustrated ex-players
0:00:39 > 0:00:42in Osi Umenyiora and Jason Bell.
0:00:42 > 0:00:46We are going to talk scuffles on the field.
0:00:46 > 0:00:48There is a divisional rivalry from the NFC West.
0:00:48 > 0:00:50We will bring you highlights from Thursday's game
0:00:50 > 0:00:52between the Arizona Cardinals and Seattle Seahawks.
0:00:52 > 0:00:55Osi and Jason talk about being more than just an athlete
0:00:55 > 0:00:57with Brighton's Liam Rosenoir.
0:00:57 > 0:01:07And we will be officiating on all the best action from week nine.
0:01:07 > 0:01:08On the play!
0:01:08 > 0:01:09Put that on.
0:01:09 > 0:01:13Thanks.
0:01:13 > 0:01:14Let's talk about brotherhood.
0:01:14 > 0:01:15What that mean?
0:01:15 > 0:01:17That mean I'll fight for you.
0:01:17 > 0:01:20We've got to come out here and put our heart in it,
0:01:20 > 0:01:22we've got to put our minds to it.
0:01:22 > 0:01:26It ain't no one-man game.
0:01:26 > 0:01:27Hey, get back.
0:01:27 > 0:01:29Get back.
0:01:29 > 0:01:30Cut!
0:01:30 > 0:01:31Hey!
0:01:31 > 0:01:32Oh!
0:01:32 > 0:01:34Guys, get back.
0:01:34 > 0:01:36Get back.
0:01:36 > 0:01:40In terms of results this week, it felt that a little bit of order
0:01:40 > 0:01:41had returned to the NFL.
0:01:41 > 0:01:44However, there did seem to be a significant amount
0:01:44 > 0:01:46of disorder on the field.
0:01:46 > 0:01:51Would you say it's common around now to see more frustration than normal?
0:01:51 > 0:01:55We're halfway through a season, so teams are starting
0:01:55 > 0:01:58to realise their positions for the second half of the season.
0:01:58 > 0:01:59Yeah, absolutely.
0:01:59 > 0:02:01When you are not winning, it's frustrating, right?
0:02:01 > 0:02:03You've got to go out there and show passion.
0:02:03 > 0:02:05Sometimes that comes out in a negative way.
0:02:05 > 0:02:08You just start getting into each other, same we do in training camp.
0:02:08 > 0:02:11But then the flip side of that is obviously
0:02:11 > 0:02:14if you are a team that's winning, and you realise this
0:02:14 > 0:02:17could be the year you do it, then you will go the extra
0:02:17 > 0:02:19mile, won't you?
0:02:19 > 0:02:20No question.
0:02:20 > 0:02:23But if you are a team that's winning, you want to stay
0:02:23 > 0:02:26above the fray, you want to stay away from that kind of madness.
0:02:26 > 0:02:28But there are certain people right now on certain teams who know
0:02:28 > 0:02:31they have nothing to do, nothing to gain, and that's
0:02:31 > 0:02:33all they can think about, is getting into it.
0:02:33 > 0:02:37If we're not going to win the game, we are going to win the fight!
0:02:37 > 0:02:38That is what happens at this time.
0:02:38 > 0:02:42And boy, do we have a lot of fights to show you a little bit later on.
0:02:42 > 0:02:45First, to a divisional game in the NFC South,
0:02:45 > 0:02:47which at the moment is one of the most competitive
0:02:47 > 0:02:48divisions in the league.
0:02:48 > 0:02:51We have got the Tampa Bay Buccaneers against the New Orleans Saints.
0:02:51 > 0:02:53I don't think anyone would have thought at the beginning
0:02:53 > 0:02:57of the season that going into this game the Buccaneers would be bottom,
0:02:57 > 0:02:59and the Saints would be topping it with a five-game winning streak.
0:02:59 > 0:03:02And having listened to you many times over the years,
0:03:02 > 0:03:05I have managed to make sure there's a lot of special teams action
0:03:05 > 0:03:07in these highlights, because you don't win the Super Bowl
0:03:07 > 0:03:09without being a complete team.
0:03:09 > 0:03:10without being a complete team.
0:03:10 > 0:03:11Absolutely, man.
0:03:11 > 0:03:12This touches my heart, man.
0:03:12 > 0:03:13My pleasure.
0:03:13 > 0:03:16Big play, right?
0:03:16 > 0:03:20That's really difficult to do, to actually block the ball
0:03:20 > 0:03:23without running into the kicker, and then recovering for a touchdown.
0:03:23 > 0:03:25I did that twice in a game, by the way!
0:03:25 > 0:03:26Keep going!
0:03:26 > 0:03:27Keep going!
0:03:27 > 0:03:29I'm sorry.
0:03:29 > 0:03:30You weren't a league player.
0:03:30 > 0:03:32But once again, it's all around special teams.
0:03:32 > 0:03:34Remember, you have to win two of the phases.
0:03:34 > 0:03:37If you can win on Defense against special teams,
0:03:37 > 0:03:40usually you win the game.
0:03:40 > 0:03:44So if one of your Offense or Defense is down, you've got to pick it up.
0:03:44 > 0:03:45And Drew Brees got into the act.
0:03:45 > 0:03:48Let me tell you something.
0:03:48 > 0:03:51We always knew he could make it happen, but this year he is really
0:03:51 > 0:03:53special because he has got a running game.
0:03:53 > 0:03:55And this year I'm very surprised.
0:03:55 > 0:03:57He has more yards not through the air, but actually
0:03:57 > 0:03:59throwing short passes where there are guys making
0:03:59 > 0:04:00short passes afterwards.
0:04:00 > 0:04:02Usually he is the one chucking it down the field.
0:04:02 > 0:04:04His players are doing well for him.
0:04:04 > 0:04:06He has got Kamara and Ingram as running backs.
0:04:06 > 0:04:09There you see Kamara going in for that touchdown.
0:04:09 > 0:04:11Just explain to people why having the option of the running game
0:04:11 > 0:04:14is important for the quarterback, because over recent years it has
0:04:14 > 0:04:16become a passing league.
0:04:16 > 0:04:18But if you have the running game as a quarterback,
0:04:18 > 0:04:19what does that do for you?
0:04:19 > 0:04:22Well, it keeps the Defense honest, it gives them confused,
0:04:22 > 0:04:24because they don't know whether the run or
0:04:24 > 0:04:25the pass is coming.
0:04:25 > 0:04:28When it is just a passing league, Drew Brees before when he was just
0:04:28 > 0:04:31passing the football, as a defensive man you could come
0:04:31 > 0:04:33after the quarterback without the threat of the run.
0:04:33 > 0:04:36But when they are pounding the ball, pounding the ball, and then they hit
0:04:36 > 0:04:38back at you with the pass, that really opens everything
0:04:38 > 0:04:40up for the Offense.
0:04:40 > 0:04:42Winston went off injured after he was sacked there.
0:04:42 > 0:04:44And Ryan Fitzpatrick came on for him.
0:04:44 > 0:04:47And again we are going to see the running game.
0:04:47 > 0:04:49Let's not forget that the Saints started the season with Adrian
0:04:49 > 0:04:53Peterson as a third running back.
0:04:53 > 0:04:56Has it simplified things for them, trading him to the Cardinals,
0:04:56 > 0:04:59and just leaving themselves with Ingram, who did the big run,
0:04:59 > 0:05:01and Kamara, who goes in for the touchdown?
0:05:01 > 0:05:03Absolutely.
0:05:03 > 0:05:05Those two runners fit their Offense.
0:05:05 > 0:05:09Guys who can catch the ball well on the backfield and great runners.
0:05:09 > 0:05:11As you saw there, Saints forced the fumble from Howard.
0:05:11 > 0:05:12Banjo recovering.
0:05:12 > 0:05:15Banjo?!
0:05:15 > 0:05:19There aren't enough players named after musical instruments, I find!
0:05:19 > 0:05:25In sport in general, not just in the NFL.
0:05:25 > 0:05:27But the Defense did that play and then Brees found
0:05:27 > 0:05:30Ted Ginn for the touchdown.
0:05:30 > 0:05:32But again, going back to previous discussions about the Saints,
0:05:32 > 0:05:34it has always been about Drew Brees.
0:05:34 > 0:05:35He has carried them.
0:05:35 > 0:05:39Sometimes they have had to rack up 40, nearly 50 points to win a game,
0:05:39 > 0:05:42because their Defense in previous seasons has not been good enough.
0:05:42 > 0:05:43Not any more.
0:05:43 > 0:05:45Not at all.
0:05:45 > 0:05:47This year that Defense is boiling.
0:05:47 > 0:05:49An opportunistic Defense, they are able to run the passer.
0:05:49 > 0:05:51Creating turnovers, creating havoc back there.
0:05:51 > 0:05:54This looks to be the most complete team in football right now.
0:05:54 > 0:05:55Wow!
0:05:55 > 0:05:58We wouldn't have been saying that earlier in the year, right?
0:05:58 > 0:06:00This is the only touchdown for the Buccaneers.
0:06:00 > 0:06:01The Saints winning 30-10.
0:06:01 > 0:06:05We will see the Saints running the game out in a moment.
0:06:05 > 0:06:09How disappointed have you been by the Buccaneers?
0:06:09 > 0:06:13There are some people who might have had them as NFC dark horses.
0:06:13 > 0:06:15And I would have been one of those people, Mark.
0:06:15 > 0:06:18But I cannot understand for the life of me what happened
0:06:18 > 0:06:20to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
0:06:20 > 0:06:23Offenseively they are extremely talented.
0:06:23 > 0:06:25They have got two of the best wide-outs in football.
0:06:25 > 0:06:27A pretty good up-and-coming quarterback, even though
0:06:27 > 0:06:28he is inconsistent.
0:06:28 > 0:06:29A good offensive line.
0:06:29 > 0:06:31And defensively they played so much better last year
0:06:31 > 0:06:33than they did this year.
0:06:33 > 0:06:34They have completely fallen apart.
0:06:34 > 0:06:36No idea what is going on with Tampa.
0:06:36 > 0:06:37Leadership.
0:06:37 > 0:06:38Something is up with leadership, right?
0:06:38 > 0:06:39Something is going on.
0:06:39 > 0:06:42Are you talking at head coach level, quarterback level, or both?
0:06:42 > 0:06:45I'm talking player level, you know.
0:06:45 > 0:06:48I'm not going to name the player!
0:06:48 > 0:06:50But somebody...
0:06:50 > 0:06:52The guy who is eating the W?
0:06:52 > 0:06:53That guy.
0:06:53 > 0:06:54He might throw the ball.
0:06:54 > 0:06:57But it's a player.
0:06:57 > 0:06:59Every good successful team I've been around, that locker room,
0:06:59 > 0:07:02you knew who was in control and who kept everything check.
0:07:02 > 0:07:04I just think it's lacking in there.
0:07:04 > 0:07:07Let me just clarify one thing on the Saints
0:07:07 > 0:07:10with you before we move forward.
0:07:10 > 0:07:12Talking about it being the most complete team in football.
0:07:12 > 0:07:14What do you mean when you say complete?
0:07:14 > 0:07:16The Saints do not have the best record in the NFL.
0:07:16 > 0:07:18They are six and two.
0:07:18 > 0:07:20But of all the teams you have just mentioned, the Saints
0:07:20 > 0:07:21have the best quarterback.
0:07:21 > 0:07:23They have the best two headed running back.
0:07:23 > 0:07:26They have a pretty good Offensive line and defensively
0:07:26 > 0:07:26they are boiling.
0:07:26 > 0:07:29So when I say complete I'm talking about the entire package
0:07:29 > 0:07:32that they present each and every Sunday that they go out there.
0:07:32 > 0:07:33OK, thank you.
0:07:33 > 0:07:36Here is a round-up of the best action week nine had to offer.
0:07:38 > 0:07:41The Kansas City Chiefs at the Dallas Cowboys.
0:07:41 > 0:07:45The early pacesetters on the road and Tyreek Hill in space.
0:07:45 > 0:07:47Inside the 15 and the ten!
0:07:47 > 0:07:51Touchdown!
0:07:51 > 0:07:54Chiefs, three defeats in four.
0:07:54 > 0:07:56Rolling right through to Beasley.
0:07:56 > 0:07:59Touchdown!
0:07:59 > 0:08:01The Cowboys are going to have their biggest win
0:08:01 > 0:08:04of the year and over the best team they have played.
0:08:04 > 0:08:06The Atlanta Falcons at the Carolina Panthers,
0:08:06 > 0:08:10a divisional derby in the NFC.
0:08:10 > 0:08:14What sort of calm day would it be?
0:08:14 > 0:08:18A find-the-rookie- Christian McCaffrey kind of day.
0:08:18 > 0:08:19Touchdown!
0:08:19 > 0:08:21Could Matt Ryan find Jones?
0:08:21 > 0:08:23He usually does.
0:08:23 > 0:08:25But a rare moment.
0:08:25 > 0:08:28A thousand times out of a thousand and one Jones makes that catch.
0:08:28 > 0:08:30The Panthers, six and three.
0:08:30 > 0:08:31The Washington Redskins at the Seattle Seahawks.
0:08:31 > 0:08:35Touchdown!
0:08:35 > 0:08:36Going down the left side.
0:08:36 > 0:08:40It is caught!
0:08:40 > 0:08:43That is one of the best throws I have ever seen right there.
0:08:43 > 0:08:45The Detroit Lions at the Green Bay Packers.
0:08:45 > 0:08:48Matt Stafford and Marvin Jones in perfect harmony in the tightest
0:08:48 > 0:08:52of spaces in the far corner.
0:08:52 > 0:08:55The season grows colder in Green Bay.
0:08:55 > 0:08:56The Denver Broncos at the Philadelphia Eagles.
0:08:56 > 0:09:02Why did the Eagles sign Adjaye?
0:09:02 > 0:09:05Touchdown!
0:09:05 > 0:09:13This is as one-sided a game as I can remember in ages.
0:09:13 > 0:09:16The Eagles eight and one.
0:09:16 > 0:09:18High on the thermos.
0:09:18 > 0:09:23CHEERING.
0:09:23 > 0:09:26We will continue talking the NFC South by looking at one man who can
0:09:26 > 0:09:29have a huge influence on this division.
0:09:29 > 0:09:33He was the NFL's most valuable player of the season
0:09:33 > 0:09:35before last, Cam Newton.
0:09:35 > 0:09:37We haven't talked about his football for a while,
0:09:37 > 0:09:38more about his interviews.
0:09:38 > 0:09:40Why is he so special?
0:09:40 > 0:09:43We are starting to see the Cam of old, are we?
0:09:43 > 0:09:44Yes.
0:09:44 > 0:09:47And that is when he is a running threat in the backfield, especially
0:09:47 > 0:09:49out of the shotgun formation.
0:09:49 > 0:09:50out of the shotgun formation.
0:09:50 > 0:09:52Let's check a little bit of this out.
0:09:52 > 0:09:54First, I want to ask you a question, Osi.
0:09:54 > 0:09:55Me?
0:09:55 > 0:09:57Yes, I want to ask you a question.
0:09:57 > 0:09:59A guy like you, Vic Beasley...
0:09:59 > 0:10:00Vic Beasley is not like me!
0:10:00 > 0:10:01But go ahead, go ahead!
0:10:01 > 0:10:03You see Cam in the backfield without a running back,
0:10:03 > 0:10:04what are you thinking?
0:10:04 > 0:10:06Rush.
0:10:06 > 0:10:07I'm coming up the field.
0:10:07 > 0:10:09And how to get to the quarterback.
0:10:09 > 0:10:10OK.
0:10:10 > 0:10:11Now, let's let this play.
0:10:11 > 0:10:14As you see he is back without a running back.
0:10:14 > 0:10:15Now they can attack him differently.
0:10:15 > 0:10:18They know he is a running threat.
0:10:18 > 0:10:21And you see the way he's pursued and the way they are going to attack
0:10:21 > 0:10:23him is not the most beneficial him.
0:10:23 > 0:10:24So...
0:10:24 > 0:10:26Because he's isolated on his own?
0:10:26 > 0:10:27He is by himself.
0:10:27 > 0:10:29So if he is going to run, there are no other options
0:10:29 > 0:10:31for him, bang, hit him!
0:10:31 > 0:10:32We can attack him.
0:10:32 > 0:10:33We know he is a running threat.
0:10:33 > 0:10:35I could be a linebacker here.
0:10:35 > 0:10:36You could be.
0:10:36 > 0:10:37I know, man, I know.
0:10:37 > 0:10:39Now, he is back with his new addition, Christian McCaffrey.
0:10:39 > 0:10:41So now they have to play more standard.
0:10:41 > 0:10:43And he's got another running back there as well.
0:10:43 > 0:10:45Jonathan Stewart.
0:10:45 > 0:10:46Yes, he has got Jonathan Stewart here.
0:10:46 > 0:10:49Now the guys coming up the field have to account
0:10:49 > 0:10:50for all of these running backs.
0:10:50 > 0:10:52They are running something called the read option,
0:10:52 > 0:10:55wWhere he is reading the end guy on the line of scrimmage.
0:10:55 > 0:10:56OK.
0:10:56 > 0:10:57Let's let it play.
0:10:57 > 0:10:59All this misdirection, the fake here, the flip there,
0:10:59 > 0:11:02they came down to attack him, he saw it, flipped it
0:11:02 > 0:11:03to McCaffrey, touchdown.
0:11:03 > 0:11:05Two of them go to in there.
0:11:05 > 0:11:07There it is.
0:11:07 > 0:11:11That's why he is so effective in the backfield with runners.
0:11:11 > 0:11:15Once again he has a runner in the backfield.
0:11:15 > 0:11:18How does he attack?
0:11:18 > 0:11:20What's important here, we'll let this play.
0:11:20 > 0:11:21This is a great play.
0:11:21 > 0:11:22He comes in.
0:11:22 > 0:11:25As you were saying before, you hate to see your
0:11:25 > 0:11:26quarterback goes up like that.
0:11:26 > 0:11:27A little bit, yeah.
0:11:27 > 0:11:28But it is important.
0:11:28 > 0:11:31What happens here is he is looking down the field.
0:11:31 > 0:11:33He knows he does not have a spy guy.
0:11:33 > 0:11:36He sees this guy looking for the runner, cross.
0:11:36 > 0:11:38Sorry, a spy guy is someone watching him?
0:11:38 > 0:11:39Watching him.
0:11:39 > 0:11:43And when you actually go in on that, you can see all the helmets pointing
0:11:43 > 0:11:47from the Atlanta perspective, they are pulling away to the right.
0:11:47 > 0:11:48At the receivers.
0:11:48 > 0:11:50So he knows now, I can take off and run.
0:11:50 > 0:11:52And that is exactly what he does.
0:11:52 > 0:11:54Look, right there, takes off.
0:11:54 > 0:11:55He doesn't have a guy immediately on him.
0:11:55 > 0:11:58This is the threat he is in the running game
0:11:58 > 0:11:59which makes them successful.
0:11:59 > 0:12:00Brilliant.
0:12:00 > 0:12:05Are we seeing the Cam of the season before last?
0:12:05 > 0:12:07Not quite yet.
0:12:07 > 0:12:09I don't think they have got the running game
0:12:09 > 0:12:12going the way they had before, which opened up things
0:12:12 > 0:12:13down the field for him.
0:12:13 > 0:12:14But I think he's getting better.
0:12:14 > 0:12:16He's definitely progressing, no question about that.
0:12:16 > 0:12:18Obviously they traded Kelvin Benjamin to the Panthers.
0:12:18 > 0:12:19That was last week.
0:12:19 > 0:12:22That meant he lost one of his receiving options.
0:12:22 > 0:12:26So we are just going to play you what Cam said in the press
0:12:26 > 0:12:28conference after this game when asked what it was
0:12:28 > 0:12:31like now at the Panthers without Kelvin Benjamin.
0:12:31 > 0:12:33Yeah, we just lost a great player, but nevertheless, you know,
0:12:33 > 0:12:38the Titanic still has to go.
0:12:38 > 0:12:44I'm taking that as he means it's positive rather
0:12:44 > 0:12:47than Carolina are a sinking ship!
0:12:47 > 0:12:50But he obviously just doesn't know his nautical history.
0:12:50 > 0:12:52Would that be fair?
0:12:52 > 0:12:56He tried to say something smart!
0:12:56 > 0:12:57He got stuck!
0:12:57 > 0:12:59It's like raising your hand in class and you don't
0:12:59 > 0:13:01have nothing to answer!
0:13:01 > 0:13:03Does he not know what happened to the Titanic?!
0:13:03 > 0:13:04OK.
0:13:04 > 0:13:08Let's just show you the other results from week nine.
0:13:08 > 0:13:09You have seen most of these.
0:13:09 > 0:13:12A couple of ones you didn't see - a good win for
0:13:12 > 0:13:14Jacksonville at Cincinnati.
0:13:14 > 0:13:17Their defense doing it again by 23-7.
0:13:17 > 0:13:21And also, not great for Houston.
0:13:21 > 0:13:23We spent a lot of time last week talking about Watson.
0:13:23 > 0:13:26He is now out with the ACL injury.
0:13:26 > 0:13:29With Tom Savage back, Houston were beaten
0:13:29 > 0:13:32by 20-14 against the Colts.
0:13:32 > 0:13:36We had Arizona beating the San Francisco 49ers by 20-10.
0:13:36 > 0:13:40As far as the standings are concerned, the New England
0:13:40 > 0:13:42Patriots didn't play.
0:13:42 > 0:13:46They stay top of the AFC East.
0:13:46 > 0:13:51As far as the West is concerned, Kansas City Chiefs lost
0:13:51 > 0:13:54but they still have a decent lead.
0:13:54 > 0:13:57As far as the NFC is concerned, Philly continue
0:13:57 > 0:13:58to march on in the east.
0:13:58 > 0:14:01The Vikings are opening a gap in the north.
0:14:01 > 0:14:04It is tight in the South, the division we spent a lot
0:14:04 > 0:14:05of time talking about.
0:14:05 > 0:14:08And the Rams are top of the West, after they won
0:14:08 > 0:14:11and the Seahawks lost.
0:14:11 > 0:14:13Now, keeping with the nautical theme, we sent Osi and
0:14:13 > 0:14:15Jason to Brighton...
0:14:15 > 0:14:16Don't lift me up!
0:14:16 > 0:14:20# SINGS TITANIC THEME.
0:14:20 > 0:14:23Anyhow, they have been to talk to Liam Rosenoir,
0:14:23 > 0:14:25who is from Brighton, about Seahawks and bridging the gap
0:14:25 > 0:14:27between players and fans.
0:14:27 > 0:14:28I can't be here!
0:14:28 > 0:14:31LAUGHTER.
0:14:41 > 0:14:44So tell us a little bit about the season - how is it going?
0:14:44 > 0:14:46Yeah, it's going good so far.
0:14:46 > 0:14:48It's our first year in the Premier League
0:14:48 > 0:14:51and we have a lot of players that haven't played in the Premier League
0:14:51 > 0:14:54before, so they were pretty nervous before the season has begun.
0:14:54 > 0:14:56But as we won a few games, we got more confidence.
0:14:56 > 0:14:59Now we are starting to perform how we know we can.
0:14:59 > 0:15:00So it's looking really good.
0:15:00 > 0:15:03We just want to make sure we are a Premier League team next
0:15:03 > 0:15:06season, and we are on our way to doing that.
0:15:06 > 0:15:08There's a very important question I have to ask you,
0:15:08 > 0:15:11and please be careful how you answer this question, because I
0:15:11 > 0:15:13really like you, man! I like you too!
0:15:13 > 0:15:15What team do you support? Oh...
0:15:15 > 0:15:18It's a big problem, that is not what I was expecting!
0:15:18 > 0:15:20I love the Seahawks, I love what Pete Carroll has done
0:15:20 > 0:15:22since he left USC and took over the Seahawks.
0:15:22 > 0:15:25As an organisation, they stand for something good, the characters,
0:15:25 > 0:15:27they have Richard Sherman, I love him, his confidence,
0:15:27 > 0:15:29his demeanour, he loves what he does, and I think
0:15:29 > 0:15:31Russell Wilson is a leader in that dressing room,
0:15:31 > 0:15:33someone that I look up to myself.
0:15:33 > 0:15:36Speaking of Richard Sherman, I mean, in my brief conversations
0:15:36 > 0:15:38that I've had with you, you guys are similar mentally,
0:15:38 > 0:15:41a lot of ways you think, you are very well educated,
0:15:41 > 0:15:42you speak very well.
0:15:42 > 0:15:44Tell me a little bit more about the column that
0:15:44 > 0:15:47you write for the Guardian - how did that come about?
0:15:47 > 0:15:50In England, there's been a disconnect over the last few years
0:15:50 > 0:15:52between players and supporters, things are made about the money
0:15:52 > 0:15:55that we make now as players, and the gap between supporters
0:15:55 > 0:15:57and players has got bigger, and I think being vocal
0:15:57 > 0:16:00about the society that we live in brings people closer together.
0:16:00 > 0:16:03And I know Richard Sherman has done it over in the States,
0:16:03 > 0:16:07and I thought it was a good idea for something for me to try and do
0:16:07 > 0:16:08over on this side of the Atlantic.
0:16:08 > 0:16:11You're quite outspoken in your columns,
0:16:11 > 0:16:14and I've also been known to be a really outspoken personality, man.
0:16:14 > 0:16:16How do you find that, man?
0:16:16 > 0:16:21Do you find it's something you're going to continue to do?
0:16:21 > 0:16:23I think you can only be yourself.
0:16:23 > 0:16:26In England, I think that there needs to be more positive
0:16:26 > 0:16:27role models in society, especially people
0:16:27 > 0:16:29in privileged situations.
0:16:29 > 0:16:32You've played in the NFL for years, you were amazing, I used to look up
0:16:32 > 0:16:34to you and what you do.
0:16:34 > 0:16:37I've seen you do what you do, and when you're in that position,
0:16:37 > 0:16:40people do look up to you, and if you shy away from that
0:16:40 > 0:16:42and not be yourself, you're not giving them everything
0:16:42 > 0:16:43that you can be.
0:16:43 > 0:16:46I'm in a position to be a role model, and as long
0:16:46 > 0:16:49as it in a positive way, I don't see any problem in that.
0:16:49 > 0:16:51You've expressed your feelings about the protests
0:16:51 > 0:16:52going on in the NFL.
0:16:52 > 0:16:57I don't really see soccer players doing things of that nature, man.
0:16:57 > 0:17:00Because soccer is such a worldwide sport, in comparison
0:17:00 > 0:17:02the NFL is pretty much America only, so a lot of
0:17:02 > 0:17:04the country's issues are more amplified, they're stronger,
0:17:04 > 0:17:05because it's about that country.
0:17:05 > 0:17:07Even here, we have 15 different nationalities,
0:17:07 > 0:17:08five different religions, different cultures, different
0:17:08 > 0:17:10ideas, different faiths.
0:17:10 > 0:17:12It's harder to have that kind of strong leadership
0:17:12 > 0:17:16in terms of certain situations within society.
0:17:16 > 0:17:19The one thing that I have noticed is that the system here is a lot
0:17:19 > 0:17:20fairer to the players.Yeah!
0:17:20 > 0:17:25For instance, the NFL, they can actually go to them and say,
0:17:25 > 0:17:29"We want to trade you," and they can say no,
0:17:29 > 0:17:32"We're not getting traded."
0:17:32 > 0:17:35Yeah, that is a big difference, again.
0:17:35 > 0:17:37I watched the stress that some of the players
0:17:37 > 0:17:40in the NFL have to go through, getting traded to a place
0:17:40 > 0:17:42where maybe your family's settled where you are,
0:17:42 > 0:17:44you can get cut at pretty much any time.
0:17:44 > 0:17:46So not only is their pressure to win, for your team,
0:17:46 > 0:17:49like you want to do anyway, pressure to provide for your
0:17:49 > 0:17:50family, for yourself.
0:17:50 > 0:17:52This guy never had to worry about that.
0:17:52 > 0:17:54He was too good for that!
0:17:54 > 0:17:57I, on the other hand, it was day to day, week to week!
0:17:57 > 0:17:59I'm that guy you're talking about!
0:17:59 > 0:18:02That would be me, that would be me, I would be in your shoes
0:18:02 > 0:18:04if I was in the NFL.
0:18:04 > 0:18:06So yeah, but again, you talk about competition,
0:18:06 > 0:18:08if you've got to provide and put food on the table,
0:18:08 > 0:18:11then you're going to be that much hungrier to win every week,
0:18:11 > 0:18:13and again, in the NFL, the competition is amazing,
0:18:13 > 0:18:16and that's one of the reasons that I tune in every weekend
0:18:16 > 0:18:17and watch the games.
0:18:17 > 0:18:19He's a really interesting guy, isn't he, Liam?
0:18:19 > 0:18:21Yes, he is, very smart, good football player,
0:18:21 > 0:18:23I really enjoyed the conversation with him.
0:18:23 > 0:18:27I was like, "I want this guy to be my friend!"
0:18:27 > 0:18:29You did take his number!
0:18:29 > 0:18:31I want to have a friend like him, man!
0:18:31 > 0:18:34He's the kind of guy you want in your locker room,
0:18:34 > 0:18:35that's the thing I was saying -
0:18:35 > 0:18:38playing with a guy like you would be a pleasure.
0:18:38 > 0:18:39He is a good role model.
0:18:39 > 0:18:42And we're now going to go to people who might not
0:18:42 > 0:18:44be good role models - not you two!
0:18:44 > 0:18:46Depending on what you want to explain to your kids
0:18:46 > 0:18:47about fighting on pitch.
0:18:47 > 0:18:50But we did see some remarkable fights this week, and let's start
0:18:50 > 0:18:52with AJ Green and Jalen Ramsey.
0:18:52 > 0:18:55Man, Jalen was getting into AJ Green's skin all game.
0:18:55 > 0:18:58It's just Jalen plays that kind of game, AJ Green was...
0:18:58 > 0:19:01Obviously, he was upset. This is crazy.
0:19:01 > 0:19:04He did not have somebody talk to him like that before?
0:19:04 > 0:19:07That is what I'm confused about, because he's been in the league
0:19:07 > 0:19:09for a while, and he never acts like this.
0:19:09 > 0:19:12Now, this one, Jameis Winston sort of pokes Lattimore
0:19:12 > 0:19:15in the back of the head, but this is awful, isn't it?
0:19:15 > 0:19:17Out of line!
0:19:17 > 0:19:19This is terrible for football, you could really hurt somebody.
0:19:19 > 0:19:22What if he blew his knee out or something?
0:19:22 > 0:19:24And also whiplash, neck and head injuries, which is a very
0:19:24 > 0:19:26delicate subject in the NFL. I mean, that was disgraceful.
0:19:26 > 0:19:29It was, he felt like he was protecting his quarterback,
0:19:29 > 0:19:32and he went about it the wrong way.
0:19:32 > 0:19:34And this is about protecting your quarterback as well?
0:19:34 > 0:19:38Is that why the 49ers got angry? Did they consider that a late hit?
0:19:38 > 0:19:41You expect your offensive line to always do that
0:19:41 > 0:19:43when the quarterback goes down, that is their job.
0:19:43 > 0:19:45I am less mad about that, more about the other ones.
0:19:45 > 0:19:49Is there an argument that he would be better projecting
0:19:49 > 0:19:52CJ Beathard when he's actually playing football
0:19:52 > 0:19:55than when he's lying on the floor?!
0:19:55 > 0:19:57I mean, that was their job, they should be doing that!
0:19:57 > 0:19:59But he got beat up that game.
0:19:59 > 0:20:01One final question, on the first fight,
0:20:01 > 0:20:06between Green and Jalen Ramsey - everybody said to me this week,
0:20:06 > 0:20:09"Why do you throw a punch at somebody who's wearing a helmet?"
0:20:09 > 0:20:11Right.Why?Instinct just takes over, you don't even think
0:20:11 > 0:20:13about what he has on, you just start throwing
0:20:13 > 0:20:15blows, it happens.OK.
0:20:15 > 0:20:17To the highlights of Thursday's game between NFC West rivals
0:20:17 > 0:20:22the Seattle Seahawks and the Arizona Cardinals.
0:20:22 > 0:20:27Would I be right in saying that, much like myself, the Cardinals
0:20:27 > 0:20:30are relying on a couple of older vets to make them look good?
0:20:30 > 0:20:33You know what, you get a flag for that!
0:20:33 > 0:20:36That's what I'm talking about!
0:20:36 > 0:20:38I'm complimenting you, I'm complimenting you both!
0:20:38 > 0:20:41Man, I feel like a young rookie sometimes.
0:20:41 > 0:20:43Looking fresh!
0:20:43 > 0:20:45But to your point, you're absolutely correct.
0:20:45 > 0:20:48Adrian Peterson and Larry Fitzgerald.
0:20:48 > 0:20:51Carson Palmer is injured, but Stanton back there is really
0:20:51 > 0:20:53not a good quarterback, so they're relying on all the people
0:20:53 > 0:20:54to get them through.
0:20:54 > 0:20:58And a lot of times you can do that if you have the right mix
0:20:58 > 0:20:59of young people also.
0:20:59 > 0:21:01It doesn't seem like the Arizona Cardinals have that.
0:21:01 > 0:21:03They feel like they've gone backwards,
0:21:03 > 0:21:05don't they, the Cardinals, over the last 12 months?
0:21:05 > 0:21:07Yeah, just you know, when Carson was in there,
0:21:07 > 0:21:09he wasn't playing great, and that whole offense
0:21:09 > 0:21:12rolls off him, he wasn't performing at his top level.
0:21:12 > 0:21:14And they're in a tough division because
0:21:14 > 0:21:15of the Seahawks and the Rams.
0:21:15 > 0:21:17The most brutal division of football right now.
0:21:17 > 0:21:21We all thought it was going to be the AFC West, but it is looking
0:21:21 > 0:21:23like it's going to be this division.
0:21:23 > 0:21:26OK, here is what happened during Thursday night's game.
0:21:32 > 0:21:373rd & 3, going Jimmy Graham's away, goes up and gets it,
0:21:37 > 0:21:40touchedown Seattle.
0:21:40 > 0:21:47In front of Tyvon Branch, Jimmy Graham in the end zone again.
0:21:47 > 0:21:48If you have a basketball player,
0:21:48 > 0:21:51why not throw him a rebound out there, right?
0:21:51 > 0:21:53Get a little jump ball action going against a much
0:21:53 > 0:21:55smaller defensive back, and you could see Russell
0:21:55 > 0:21:58Wilson just floated that thing up in the air.
0:21:58 > 0:22:042nd & 6 for Drew Stanton, and the Cardinals trail 7-0.
0:22:04 > 0:22:07And from the 14, Stanton throwing quick to Gresham, has some blockers,
0:22:07 > 0:22:11Jermaine Gresham end-zone bound, touchdown in Arizona!
0:22:11 > 0:22:17Jermaine Gresham looks like he's going to block Dwight Freeney,
0:22:17 > 0:22:19Dwight Freeney is all excited, "Oh, boy, I know I can
0:22:19 > 0:22:21beat this guy, let me go get this quarterback,
0:22:21 > 0:22:23get a sack."
0:22:23 > 0:22:25Turned right around there for a walk-in touchdown.
0:22:25 > 0:22:29That is some great play calling right there by Bruce Arians.
0:22:29 > 0:22:34Wilson, gets low to look for space, starts directing traffic.
0:22:34 > 0:22:40The pump and run, and he's taken down shy of the 1st down.
0:22:41 > 0:22:45Smelling points, and they got it, they got Peterson back there!
0:22:45 > 0:22:50The ball does not come out - it is a safety, Seattle on top.
0:22:50 > 0:22:52They're just going to shoot every one of those gaps,
0:22:52 > 0:22:56KJ Wright first made him stop,
0:22:56 > 0:23:04then Kam Chancellor to clean this thing up.
0:23:04 > 0:23:07Another passing situation, 3rd & 11, got chipped
0:23:07 > 0:23:10by the tight end that time, and the pass completes,
0:23:10 > 0:23:17Richard Sherman is shaken up for Seattle after the 1st-down catch.
0:23:17 > 0:23:19And there is Sherman, one of the best in the business,
0:23:19 > 0:23:20three times a first-team all-pro.
0:23:20 > 0:23:26Read his lips, it looks like he says, "Tore my Achilles."
0:23:26 > 0:23:29He came in on the injury report list yesterday with an Achilles injury,
0:23:29 > 0:23:38Sherman saying to Wilson, "I'm out for the year."
0:23:38 > 0:23:41Wilson has got space - got nobody downfield, though.
0:23:41 > 0:23:44Making it up, cue the circus music, Wilson throwing for Baldwin.
0:23:44 > 0:23:47Oh, my goodness, he caught it!
0:23:47 > 0:23:52And there goes Baldwin down the sideline, vintage Seahawk play,
0:23:52 > 0:23:55Baldwin out of bounds inside the five!
0:23:55 > 0:23:58Unbelievable stuff!
0:23:58 > 0:24:01Doug Baldwin was blocking on that play, he was in no way,
0:24:01 > 0:24:05shape or form supposed to be there!
0:24:05 > 0:24:071st & goal at the two.
0:24:07 > 0:24:11And Wilson, end zone, Jimmy Graham steals it, touchdown Seattle!
0:24:11 > 0:24:15Just being too big, too strong, through it high, "I got it,"
0:24:15 > 0:24:19strong hands, no problem.
0:24:19 > 0:24:22On the snap, gets it, they run it in for the touchdown,
0:24:22 > 0:24:28Andre Ellington, a six-point game.
0:24:28 > 0:24:31Dawson goes to the vacant area in the middle, tough to get on it,
0:24:31 > 0:24:34and Lockett does just that, at the 32-yard line.
0:24:34 > 0:24:39This one will end 22-16, Seattle will get a victory.
0:24:39 > 0:24:42It didn't bother me all season, so it's one of them things,
0:24:42 > 0:24:45you just have to play through as long as you can,
0:24:45 > 0:24:47and then when it goes, it goes.
0:24:47 > 0:24:50Just got to stay positive. That's all you can do.
0:24:50 > 0:24:51Thanks, Richard.
0:24:51 > 0:24:54VOICE BREAKING:Thank you.
0:25:01 > 0:25:04So Seattle win, it takes them to 6-3, and it keeps
0:25:04 > 0:25:05the pressure on the Rams.
0:25:05 > 0:25:09I mean, the rest of the season, this is going to be a fascinating
0:25:09 > 0:25:11division, this is going to be a two-horse race.
0:25:11 > 0:25:13No question about that, and if you're Los Angeles Rams,
0:25:13 > 0:25:15you don't want the Seattle Seahawks breathing down your neck,
0:25:15 > 0:25:18that is a veteran team that's done it before.
0:25:18 > 0:25:20Yeah, exactly, so it's the experience on one side,
0:25:20 > 0:25:22been there, done it, and this naivety, I suppose, of
0:25:22 > 0:25:24youth and energy that is the Rams.
0:25:24 > 0:25:27That is true, you do not want to see the Seattle Seahawks getting hot
0:25:27 > 0:25:28going into the playoffs.
0:25:28 > 0:25:31OK, here is what else is coming up in week ten.
0:25:31 > 0:25:33As ever, with the NFL, some really fascinating fixtures.
0:25:33 > 0:25:39Let's pick out Saints at the Bills.
0:25:39 > 0:25:43As we touched on the Saints earlier, but two teams that we wouldn't have
0:25:43 > 0:25:46expected to be in the running at this stage.
0:25:46 > 0:25:48Not at all, it's going to be a tough game,
0:25:48 > 0:25:51because the Bills don't normally turn the ball over.
0:25:51 > 0:25:54And it's not going to give the Saints' offense a lot of time
0:25:54 > 0:25:56and opportunity to score points.
0:25:56 > 0:25:59Yeah, they don't turn the ball over - turned it over three times
0:25:59 > 0:26:01in the last game that they played, which was something
0:26:01 > 0:26:02uncharacteristic of them.
0:26:02 > 0:26:04Do you think that will affect them?
0:26:04 > 0:26:06I think so, I mean, they've been doing so well
0:26:06 > 0:26:09for so long with the turnovers, then all of a sudden, boom,
0:26:09 > 0:26:12you give away three, and it's something that you're not used to,
0:26:12 > 0:26:14so how are you going to bounce back,
0:26:14 > 0:26:15respond to something like that?
0:26:15 > 0:26:18OK, let's take a look at some of the other fixtures,
0:26:18 > 0:26:19there they are on your screen.
0:26:19 > 0:26:22The Vikings at the Redskins, which you would have probably
0:26:22 > 0:26:23gone Vikings, wouldn't you?
0:26:23 > 0:26:24Until the Redskins did the performance
0:26:24 > 0:26:26that they did in Seattle.
0:26:26 > 0:26:29True, but I'm trusting that Vikings defense to make sure
0:26:29 > 0:26:30that they keep it very...
0:26:30 > 0:26:34Why would you trust their defense when the Seahawks struggled?
0:26:34 > 0:26:37Because the Vikings are a better defense this year.
0:26:37 > 0:26:40They're a much better defense this year.
0:26:40 > 0:26:42Seattle, we are still talking about the Seattle of old
0:26:42 > 0:26:45when we talk about their defense - they're still really good,
0:26:45 > 0:26:47but not as good as they were.
0:26:47 > 0:26:48Not what they were.
0:26:48 > 0:26:51Tough game for Minnesota Vikings, man, this is a trap game for them,
0:26:51 > 0:26:53going up against the hungry, pretty good Washington
0:26:53 > 0:26:55Redskins football team.
0:26:55 > 0:26:57Minnesota could lose this ball game very easily.
0:26:57 > 0:27:00OK, back to looking at the rest of the fixtures, well, two there,
0:27:00 > 0:27:07Cowboys at the Falcons, Giants at the 49ers.
0:27:07 > 0:27:10Just on the Giants at the 49ers,
0:27:10 > 0:27:15this could be a battle for first pick in next year's draft!
0:27:15 > 0:27:19I could never have called this for the Giants.
0:27:19 > 0:27:21I am in shock, and you know what?
0:27:21 > 0:27:23You know who hates this the most? Eli Manning.
0:27:23 > 0:27:26Oh, man, he is in New York, they throwing all kinds
0:27:26 > 0:27:29of bullets at Eli right now, talking about benching him,
0:27:29 > 0:27:31talking about benching a two-time Super Bowl MVP,
0:27:31 > 0:27:33this is unheard of, man.
0:27:33 > 0:27:35The fall from grace for the New York Giants
0:27:35 > 0:27:37has been unprecedented.
0:27:37 > 0:27:39OK, plenty of highs and lows this week.
0:27:39 > 0:27:44Most of them involving impressive catches.
0:27:44 > 0:27:47Another one-handed catch. Them gloves!
0:27:47 > 0:27:50Keelan Cole with that one. Them gloves!
0:27:50 > 0:27:53Not all were caught, Julio Jones, wearing gloves!
0:27:53 > 0:27:57You never see Julio do that.
0:27:57 > 0:28:00I think you might have had some dirt in his eye or something.
0:28:00 > 0:28:03He's got a visor on! I am trying to help them out!
0:28:03 > 0:28:06Oh, man!
0:28:06 > 0:28:08DeVante Parker's phenomenal one-handed catch for the Dolphins
0:28:08 > 0:28:12against the Raiders.
0:28:12 > 0:28:17Marvin Jones here for Detroit, some very spectacular catches.
0:28:17 > 0:28:22I should call Marvin right now! Oh, your friend Marvin!
0:28:22 > 0:28:27Travis Kelsey's sack race celebration.
0:28:27 > 0:28:32And then the final one is all about Tony Romo's commentary.
0:28:32 > 0:28:36There it is to Hill, the whole brigade around him.
0:28:36 > 0:28:39Hill, look at Hill go! Impossible!
0:28:39 > 0:28:42Touchdown Kansas City!
0:28:42 > 0:28:48Oh, my gosh, I've never seen that in my entire time in football,
0:28:48 > 0:28:52and I promise you, Jason Garrett hasn't either!
0:28:52 > 0:28:57"Oh, my gosh!" Romo is brilliant, isn't he?
0:28:57 > 0:29:01Romo is brilliant. You what?Friend of the show.
0:29:01 > 0:29:07He could be a replacement for one. Oh-oh!
0:29:10 > 0:29:13Thanks very much for watching, we'll see you next week, good night.
0:29:13 > 0:29:19Sorry, sorry, I shouldn't have said that, I'm sorry!
0:29:20 > 0:29:24In a game where contact is part of the appeal,
0:29:24 > 0:29:27where contact is insisted upon, sewn into the fabric...
0:29:29 > 0:29:36sometimes things get a little scratchy, tetchy, in your face.
0:29:36 > 0:29:40Keeping the untameable in check, one of the wonders of football.
