0:00:06 > 0:00:08It will be time for these two teams to settle it
0:00:08 > 0:00:09between the white lines.
0:00:09 > 0:00:12He's going to fire it towards the end zone.
0:00:12 > 0:00:13Crossing off the nearside field.
0:00:13 > 0:00:14Looking downfield.
0:00:14 > 0:00:24Going deep.
0:00:24 > 0:00:26A one-man wrecking crew.
0:00:26 > 0:00:27Unbelievable!
0:00:27 > 0:00:28How did he do that?
0:00:28 > 0:00:29The endzone.
0:00:29 > 0:00:30Caught.
0:00:30 > 0:00:34Unstoppable!
0:00:34 > 0:00:35Hello, welcome to The NFL Show.
0:00:35 > 0:00:42Sometimes it is hard to know how to motivate your team.
0:00:42 > 0:00:43Bury it!
0:00:43 > 0:00:44They can't handle you!
0:00:44 > 0:00:45They can't handle you!
0:00:45 > 0:00:47They can't handle you!
0:00:47 > 0:00:48They can't handle you!
0:00:48 > 0:00:49They can't handle you.
0:00:49 > 0:00:54Let's go!
0:00:54 > 0:00:56One, two, three!
0:00:56 > 0:00:57Here goes.
0:00:57 > 0:00:59They can't handle you!
0:00:59 > 0:01:01They can't handle you!
0:01:01 > 0:01:02What are you doing?
0:01:02 > 0:01:04I'm motivating you.
0:01:04 > 0:01:06I've be watching the Vikings, I've been motivating you.
0:01:06 > 0:01:08That was an assault.
0:01:08 > 0:01:10It was a gentle tap.
0:01:10 > 0:01:14Done with affection.
0:01:14 > 0:01:19Coming up on tonight's show, we will be bringing you Thursday's
0:01:19 > 0:01:21highlights between two AFC division toppers, the Tennessee
0:01:21 > 0:01:22Titans and the Pittsburgh Steelers.
0:01:22 > 0:01:25We will talk game management and the technical artistry
0:01:25 > 0:01:26of a game-winning drive.
0:01:26 > 0:01:28We'll look ahead to this weekend's week 11 fixtures.
0:01:28 > 0:01:29You are making me nervous, you two.
0:01:29 > 0:01:33And we'll bring you all the biggest stories from last week's games.
0:01:35 > 0:01:37Who did I say they are going to beat?
0:01:37 > 0:01:47CHANTING.
0:01:48 > 0:01:50Oh!
0:01:50 > 0:01:51How about the A.
0:01:51 > 0:01:53Hey!
0:01:53 > 0:01:53HE SNIFFS.
0:01:53 > 0:01:55That definitely weren't me.
0:01:55 > 0:01:57Smells like onions and ketchup.
0:01:57 > 0:01:58No, mine is vegan, baby.
0:01:58 > 0:02:02Plant-based.
0:02:02 > 0:02:05Well, I'm joined once again by the fully motivated
0:02:05 > 0:02:07Jason Bell and Osi Umenyiora.
0:02:07 > 0:02:11We'll draw a line over the opening, and we'll move on.
0:02:11 > 0:02:14Right, we're going to show you, to start with, a celebration
0:02:14 > 0:02:15from the 49ers' locker room.
0:02:15 > 0:02:17Because, when they beat the Giants, that's their first win
0:02:17 > 0:02:19of the whole season.
0:02:19 > 0:02:22I mean, that is great to see, isn't it?
0:02:22 > 0:02:28That's amazing.
0:02:28 > 0:02:31I've been in locker rooms like that's where you get that one win.
0:02:31 > 0:02:32And you feel like that.
0:02:32 > 0:02:33Come on, man?
0:02:33 > 0:02:35They beat the Giants.
0:02:35 > 0:02:36That's their first win.
0:02:36 > 0:02:38They're celebrating like they just won the championship.
0:02:38 > 0:02:38The championship?
0:02:38 > 0:02:40I mean, come on.
0:02:40 > 0:02:42That's setting the bar low right there, that's
0:02:42 > 0:02:47setting a real low bar.
0:02:47 > 0:02:49If you celebrate after you win your first game,
0:02:49 > 0:02:52I mean, how are you going to celebrate when you
0:02:52 > 0:02:53actually do win something?
0:02:53 > 0:02:54But that's a relief, that's what it is.
0:02:54 > 0:02:55Yeah?
0:02:55 > 0:02:57I can understand that.
0:02:57 > 0:02:58I like to see that.
0:02:58 > 0:02:59Yeah, I'm all about it, man.
0:02:59 > 0:03:02When I was in Houston, we beat Dallas first game
0:03:02 > 0:03:03of the year, it was like that.
0:03:03 > 0:03:05Let me guess, you only celebrated like that
0:03:05 > 0:03:07after you won the Super Bowl?
0:03:07 > 0:03:08That...
0:03:08 > 0:03:11But I think I'm a little bit more upset because they're celebrating
0:03:11 > 0:03:12like that after beating the Giants.
0:03:12 > 0:03:13We've got to move on.
0:03:13 > 0:03:16We're going to review one of the big games from last weekend now.
0:03:16 > 0:03:19The NFC's Dallas Cowboys against the NFC South Atlanta Falcons.
0:03:19 > 0:03:21Both teams have been fighting for form a little bit.
0:03:21 > 0:03:24Both in danger of losing sight of their division leaders.
0:03:24 > 0:03:27And the big news going into this game was that the Dallas star
0:03:27 > 0:03:29running back Zeke Elliott would now start his six-game suspension
0:03:29 > 0:03:31after months of court order delays.
0:03:31 > 0:03:34So, he wasn't available for the Cowboys.
0:03:34 > 0:03:36And, whilst he wasn't missed, there were other problems
0:03:36 > 0:03:37for the Cowboys as well.
0:03:37 > 0:03:39Other injuries that affected them in this game.
0:03:39 > 0:03:42First of all, the left tackle time on Smith, right?
0:03:42 > 0:03:44You realise how important he was in this game.
0:03:44 > 0:03:46And also, no one is talking about Sean Lee.
0:03:46 > 0:03:50When Sean Lee got hurt on defense, that defense really fell apart.
0:03:50 > 0:03:54And they don't win games when he's not in the line-up.
0:03:54 > 0:03:57Dallas's defense, because the O line was weakened, spent a lot
0:03:57 > 0:03:58of time on the field.
0:03:58 > 0:04:01And they were weakened, as Jason says, by a couple of injuries, too.
0:04:01 > 0:04:04So, they were just shattered going into the third fourth quarter
0:04:04 > 0:04:06against this Atlanta offence.
0:04:06 > 0:04:07Yes, they were.
0:04:07 > 0:04:08Atlanta Falcons just continued to pound them,
0:04:08 > 0:04:10and they wore them down.
0:04:10 > 0:04:14That's their formula.
0:04:14 > 0:04:17The formula is run the ball, you know, control the time
0:04:17 > 0:04:19and possession, and keep that defense well rested.
0:04:19 > 0:04:21And that didn't happen and they were exposed because of it.
0:04:21 > 0:04:24As you can see, going into the second quarter,
0:04:24 > 0:04:26the Cowboys actually had the seven and three Lee.
0:04:26 > 0:04:28Prescott found Bryce Butler who made that falling catch for 30 yards.
0:04:28 > 0:04:31Clayborn sacks Prescott again.
0:04:31 > 0:04:35And then it was from around this time that the Falcons started to put
0:04:35 > 0:04:38long drives together, to tire out the Cowboys.
0:04:38 > 0:04:40Coleman there going in for a one-yard touchdown
0:04:40 > 0:04:42to make it 10-7 to Atlanta.
0:04:42 > 0:04:44Yeah, and that's what's happens.
0:04:44 > 0:04:47When you're on the field a bunch, you get tired, you get exposed.
0:04:47 > 0:04:50And also I was watching the game, you saw with Sean Lee out of it,
0:04:50 > 0:04:52it seemed like they just weren't communicating well.
0:04:52 > 0:04:55And that middle linebacker position, that's an important role to kind
0:04:55 > 0:04:55of get guys lined up and everybody to be on the same page.
0:04:57 > 0:04:59Especially in the defense that they run over there.
0:04:59 > 0:05:01He's crucial to the success of their team.
0:05:01 > 0:05:03Him going off, he's the one who ties everything,
0:05:03 > 0:05:05both the run and the pass together.
0:05:05 > 0:05:08Him being off the football field had a really bad effect on them.
0:05:08 > 0:05:10Some people might only see our Saturday show
0:05:10 > 0:05:11as their experience of the NFL.
0:05:11 > 0:05:15They'll go, hang on a minute, you know, it is a 40-second play.
0:05:15 > 0:05:17And then you get to rest for a bit.
0:05:17 > 0:05:18And then there's another.
0:05:18 > 0:05:20But the interesting thing that you've shown is the mental
0:05:20 > 0:05:22concentration that's needed when you are on the defense,
0:05:22 > 0:05:25too, to look at eyes, to try and spot a decoy, etc.
0:05:25 > 0:05:27So you're really talking mental fatigue rather
0:05:27 > 0:05:27than physical fatigue.
0:05:29 > 0:05:31Absolutely.
0:05:31 > 0:05:33And remember, all you have to do is make one mistake,
0:05:33 > 0:05:37and that can be a touchdown.
0:05:37 > 0:05:40So, you could be focused in on nine plays out of a ten-play drive,
0:05:40 > 0:05:41and then lose your cool.
0:05:41 > 0:05:43And there you go, you've got a touchdown.
0:05:43 > 0:05:45We saw Justin Hardy's touchdown.
0:05:45 > 0:05:47Now, that made it 17-7 to Atlanta.
0:05:47 > 0:05:49Matt Ryan here finding Taylor Gabriel for a 34-yard catch
0:05:49 > 0:05:51and run towards the end of the third quarter.
0:05:51 > 0:05:53And then into the fourth quarter, Atlanta's offence
0:05:53 > 0:05:58continued to motor.
0:05:58 > 0:06:00Austin Hooper took them down to the one-yard line there.
0:06:00 > 0:06:03And we will see Ryan find Hooper again for another one-yard
0:06:03 > 0:06:06touchdown, to make it 24-7 Atlanta.
0:06:06 > 0:06:09And the thing with Atlanta, and we've talked about it all season
0:06:09 > 0:06:11as well, is they do have so many weapons.
0:06:11 > 0:06:13And yet they haven't really clicked that often.
0:06:13 > 0:06:14Yes, they have not.
0:06:14 > 0:06:16Yes, they have not.
0:06:16 > 0:06:18I think when you're talking about the Atlanta Falcons,
0:06:18 > 0:06:21then people want to talk discuss the Super Bowl from last year.
0:06:21 > 0:06:23But I think, more importantly than that, they're just not
0:06:23 > 0:06:24finding their rhythm.
0:06:24 > 0:06:27There are not in sync with each other yet because,
0:06:27 > 0:06:29as the season wears on, a good team with that
0:06:29 > 0:06:32amount of talent, I think there are going to figure it out
0:06:32 > 0:06:33more than anybody else.
0:06:33 > 0:06:35Remember, last year, we were talking about they started slow.
0:06:35 > 0:06:38They clicked and kind of started working at this point
0:06:38 > 0:06:39of the season last year.
0:06:39 > 0:06:41So, maybe that's just the kind of team they are.
0:06:41 > 0:06:43We'll see if they turn the corner.
0:06:43 > 0:06:45Clayborn sacked Prescott for the sixth time there,
0:06:45 > 0:06:50to seal the game for Atlanta who moved to five and four.
0:06:50 > 0:06:54I said we spoke a lot about it on Tuesday night, but it is a heck
0:06:54 > 0:06:55of an achievement, isn't it?
0:06:55 > 0:06:56Six sacks in a game?
0:06:56 > 0:06:57Incredible.
0:06:57 > 0:07:00Everything has to line up perfectly for you in order to accomplish that.
0:07:00 > 0:07:02Last time anybody gets to the quarterback,
0:07:02 > 0:07:04but they're not sacked, because maybe the DBs didn't
0:07:04 > 0:07:06cover, the quarterback threw the ball quick.
0:07:06 > 0:07:09In order for you to get at their six times, the quarterback
0:07:09 > 0:07:11has to hold the ball, the DBs have to cover
0:07:11 > 0:07:15to give you enough time to get to the quarterback.
0:07:15 > 0:07:17Everything has to line up, it's a complete team effort.
0:07:17 > 0:07:19For Dallas, some of their fixtures coming up.
0:07:19 > 0:07:21Philadelphia, the Chargers who are a little bit hit
0:07:21 > 0:07:22and miss, obviously.
0:07:22 > 0:07:24Washington, the Giants which are divisional games,
0:07:24 > 0:07:27so that ratchets up the atmosphere and pressure a little bit, no matter
0:07:27 > 0:07:29how badly some teams are doing.
0:07:29 > 0:07:31And then they've got the Raiders as well.
0:07:31 > 0:07:33And all of that without Elliott.
0:07:33 > 0:07:35Dallas Cowboys are in big trouble.
0:07:35 > 0:07:37Judging by how they play, they are in big trouble.
0:07:37 > 0:07:40That is a murderous row of games, a murderous row of teams they have
0:07:40 > 0:07:42to go there and face.
0:07:42 > 0:07:44Teams that are also fighting for their playoff lives.
0:07:44 > 0:07:46So, every game is going to be a battle.
0:07:46 > 0:07:49If they don't bring their A-game, they might lose all of those games.
0:07:49 > 0:07:52And, by the time they get to Zeke back, it's Seahawks
0:07:52 > 0:07:53and the Eagles again.
0:07:53 > 0:07:55They've still got those two divisional games against the Eagles.
0:07:55 > 0:07:58If you're going to put a positive spin on it, you would go,
0:07:58 > 0:08:00that still means we can catch them.
0:08:00 > 0:08:01Right.
0:08:01 > 0:08:03But damage is done by then.
0:08:03 > 0:08:06If they go through that rwo, and they don't win any games,
0:08:06 > 0:08:08I mean, nothing is going to help them.
0:08:08 > 0:08:09OK.
0:08:09 > 0:08:11That's a very bleak way to end that chat.
0:08:11 > 0:08:15Here's a round-up of what else in week ten.
0:08:15 > 0:08:16Hey, every season is full of defining moments.
0:08:16 > 0:08:21Let's make this day a defining moment for us.
0:08:21 > 0:08:23The New Orleans Saints at the Buffalo Bills.
0:08:23 > 0:08:25Take your time, they say, never rush.
0:08:25 > 0:08:27But this rushing game was special.
0:08:27 > 0:08:29COMMENTATOR: And he's in for the score.
0:08:29 > 0:08:30Let's go.
0:08:30 > 0:08:35Seven and two, the Saints leading the way in the NFC South.
0:08:35 > 0:08:38The Minnesota Vikings at the Washington Redskins.
0:08:38 > 0:08:45Is this the catch of the year by Maurice Harris?
0:08:45 > 0:08:47The Vikings unperturbed.
0:08:47 > 0:08:50Working their combinations.
0:08:50 > 0:08:52We just started.
0:08:52 > 0:08:53You want another one?
0:08:53 > 0:08:55The Vikings, top of the NFC North.
0:08:55 > 0:08:59The New York Giants at the San Francisco 49ers,
0:08:59 > 0:09:03Giants of history, locked tight in the basement.
0:09:03 > 0:09:08The 49ers at last with a victory.
0:09:08 > 0:09:11The New England Patriots at the Denver Broncos.
0:09:11 > 0:09:15Tom Brady still in charge.
0:09:15 > 0:09:18The Patriots, contenders yet again.
0:09:18 > 0:09:23COMMENTATOR: Touchdown, Patriots.
0:09:23 > 0:09:27How to reignite a season when you've lost Allan Rodgers.
0:09:27 > 0:09:28Don't throw.
0:09:28 > 0:09:29Give it to Ty Montgomery.
0:09:29 > 0:09:33Then again, why not throw it?
0:09:33 > 0:09:36The Packers rekindled, the Bears still struggling.
0:09:36 > 0:09:38The Miami Dolphins at the Carolina Panthers.
0:09:38 > 0:09:40The Panthers soon pouring it on.
0:09:40 > 0:09:41Their rushing game.
0:09:41 > 0:09:44The passing game.
0:09:44 > 0:09:51And still only second in the NFC South, the hot division.
0:09:51 > 0:09:55The Houston Texans at the LA Rams.
0:09:55 > 0:09:56COMMENTATOR: He swings it out.
0:09:56 > 0:09:57Robert Woods, 20.
0:09:57 > 0:09:58Inside.
0:09:58 > 0:09:59Spins and falls.
0:09:59 > 0:10:00Touchdown.
0:10:00 > 0:10:02A big third quarter for the Rams.
0:10:02 > 0:10:03Two for Robert Woods.
0:10:03 > 0:10:07The Rams staying ahead of the Seahawks in the NFC West.
0:10:07 > 0:10:11HE COUGHS.
0:10:11 > 0:10:13My throat!
0:10:13 > 0:10:14My throat!
0:10:14 > 0:10:16Don't forget, you can catch extended highlights and analysis
0:10:16 > 0:10:17on our Tuesday show.
0:10:17 > 0:10:18That's NFL this week.
0:10:18 > 0:10:21And you can find that on the iPlayer right now.
0:10:21 > 0:10:24This show is also on the iPlayer once we are off air.
0:10:24 > 0:10:26Right now, we're going to get into a couple of stories
0:10:26 > 0:10:27surrounding last week's games.
0:10:27 > 0:10:30We're going to start with a really sad one, actually,
0:10:30 > 0:10:32and that is Marquis Goodwin of the 49ers who scored this
0:10:32 > 0:10:34touchdown against the Giants on Sunday, only hours
0:10:34 > 0:10:37after he and his partner lost their unborn son due
0:10:37 > 0:10:46to pregnancy complications.
0:10:46 > 0:10:50Our hearts and thoughts go out to him and his partner.
0:10:50 > 0:10:57Now, you may have noticed in the review, the absence
0:10:57 > 0:10:59of the Jacksonville Jaguars against the LA Chargers,
0:10:59 > 0:11:01and this was for very good reason.
0:11:01 > 0:11:04Because there's no way to simply sum up the frankly odd end to this game.
0:11:04 > 0:11:07But we are going to try over the next couple of minutes.
0:11:07 > 0:11:10The Jags were down by three in the fourth quarter,
0:11:10 > 0:11:11and there were two minutes to go.
0:11:11 > 0:11:16Blake Bortels pass was tipped, and it was intercepted by Trey Boston.
0:11:16 > 0:11:18Come on, Blake.
0:11:18 > 0:11:19OK.
0:11:19 > 0:11:22So, that's what the Jags fans thought of that.
0:11:22 > 0:11:24Next play, Chargers' rookie Austin Ekeler
0:11:24 > 0:11:28fumbles the ball, right?
0:11:29 > 0:11:32Now, Tashaun Gibson recovers it, and he runs this in for what is then
0:11:32 > 0:11:34thought to be the go-ahead score.
0:11:34 > 0:11:36This is a touchdown, it would take Jacksonville
0:11:36 > 0:11:39up to 20 if they kick the extra point, 21-17.
0:11:39 > 0:11:40However, they then look at the replays here
0:11:40 > 0:11:48and they apparently...
0:11:48 > 0:11:51I still don't think it is conclusive, show
0:11:51 > 0:11:53he was touchdown by contact when he recovered the ball.
0:11:53 > 0:11:54So...
0:11:54 > 0:11:56By whom?
0:11:56 > 0:11:59Exactly.
0:11:59 > 0:12:01By his own guy?
0:12:01 > 0:12:03Who knows.
0:12:03 > 0:12:06That meant The Jags had to start on the 36-yard line.
0:12:06 > 0:12:07Four plays later, it's third and 25.
0:12:07 > 0:12:10And Blake Bortels throws another pick to Trey Boston.
0:12:10 > 0:12:11Oh, man, that was ugly.
0:12:11 > 0:12:12Yes.
0:12:12 > 0:12:14That was bad.
0:12:14 > 0:12:15Stick with me on this.
0:12:15 > 0:12:18LA ran the clock down as much as they could.
0:12:18 > 0:12:19They gave the ball back to Jacksonville
0:12:19 > 0:12:20with a minute remaining.
0:12:20 > 0:12:24Bortels found Jayden Mickens and it put The Jags in field goal range.
0:12:24 > 0:12:26Josh Lambeau kicks the game time in field goal, and that
0:12:26 > 0:12:28sends it into overtime.
0:12:28 > 0:12:30Like it.
0:12:30 > 0:12:32The Chargers have the ball.
0:12:32 > 0:12:37Philip Rivers then does that.
0:12:37 > 0:12:40Ooh, that's nice.
0:12:40 > 0:12:42He throws the interception to AJ Boyer.
0:12:42 > 0:12:44He's nice.
0:12:44 > 0:12:45Is he your friend?
0:12:45 > 0:12:47No.
0:12:47 > 0:12:48I like him though.
0:12:48 > 0:12:51AJ Boyer's heading to the end zone for the touchdown,
0:12:51 > 0:12:53until he gets tackled by Philip Rivers.
0:12:53 > 0:12:57Stood over him.
0:12:57 > 0:13:00Philip does that all the time.
0:13:00 > 0:13:01Right.
0:13:01 > 0:13:02OK.
0:13:02 > 0:13:04It hit left The Jags with that field goal.
0:13:04 > 0:13:05It was partially blocked.
0:13:05 > 0:13:07But it just squeaked over.
0:13:07 > 0:13:09And just to round everything up, Lambeau used to be
0:13:09 > 0:13:10the Chargers's kicker.
0:13:10 > 0:13:13They cut him and it takes The Jags to six and three.
0:13:13 > 0:13:16It was a crazy end.
0:13:16 > 0:13:18Is it serendipity?
0:13:18 > 0:13:18When something comes...
0:13:18 > 0:13:20Yes.
0:13:20 > 0:13:23I've been here for a while.
0:13:23 > 0:13:25I don't think that's just an English word.
0:13:25 > 0:13:27It was a big win for The Jags.
0:13:27 > 0:13:32Oh, huge.
0:13:32 > 0:13:33Oh, huge.
0:13:33 > 0:13:36When you're a young team, those tight games like that,
0:13:36 > 0:13:38highly contested games, it kind of gives you an attitude
0:13:38 > 0:13:40that changes who you are as a team.
0:13:40 > 0:13:43But what that highlights as well is what a lot
0:13:43 > 0:13:46of people have said all year, which is The Jags could
0:13:46 > 0:13:48go a very long way.
0:13:48 > 0:13:50But there is a doubt over Blake Bortles.
0:13:50 > 0:13:52Can they go a long way with Blake Bortles.
0:13:52 > 0:13:55They can go a long way with that defense and that running game,
0:13:55 > 0:13:58even though Fournette didn't play his best game the last
0:13:58 > 0:13:59game that they played.
0:13:59 > 0:14:02But with Blake Bortles, some of the things you see him do,
0:14:02 > 0:14:04you can't make mistakes like that, especially in those
0:14:04 > 0:14:05crucial situations.
0:14:05 > 0:14:09He's shown a propensity to do this over and over again.
0:14:09 > 0:14:11Can't do it in the postseason because you won't win,
0:14:11 > 0:14:13teams are too good.
0:14:13 > 0:14:17The main thing I liked is he was not playing well but they picked it
0:14:17 > 0:14:18up on special teams.
0:14:18 > 0:14:21You've got to win two of the phases and they're always
0:14:21 > 0:14:22going to play good defense.
0:14:22 > 0:14:24So, the team knows they got to pick it up.
0:14:24 > 0:14:27If you were in the Jacksonville defense and were back in the locker
0:14:27 > 0:14:30room after that game, what would you say to Blake Bortles?
0:14:30 > 0:14:31Nothing.
0:14:31 > 0:14:32We won the game.
0:14:32 > 0:14:34I'm not going to say anything to him.
0:14:34 > 0:14:37But in a situation like that, even if we would have lost,
0:14:37 > 0:14:38I wouldn't have said anything to him.
0:14:38 > 0:14:40Who would say something to him?
0:14:40 > 0:14:42The coach has to say something to him.
0:14:42 > 0:14:43Because we all make mistakes.
0:14:43 > 0:14:44We all have bad games.
0:14:44 > 0:14:47He seems to do it on a much, a more regular basis.
0:14:47 > 0:14:50But it's not something I'd be like, hey, Blake, you can't.
0:14:50 > 0:14:51No.
0:14:51 > 0:14:53You don't what nobody doing that to you.
0:14:53 > 0:14:54Exactly.
0:14:54 > 0:14:56They could win the Super Bowl with that defense.
0:14:56 > 0:14:59But they can't it with Blake Bortles, is that what you're saying?
0:14:59 > 0:15:00I...
0:15:00 > 0:15:03They showed a lot of holes, even offensively, to scare me.
0:15:03 > 0:15:05Defensively, yes.
0:15:05 > 0:15:08That defense could win the Super Bowl but the offense couldn't?
0:15:08 > 0:15:10That defense can't win a Super Bowl with that offense, no.
0:15:10 > 0:15:12OK.
0:15:12 > 0:15:14Let's show you all the results...
0:15:14 > 0:15:16I tried to catch you out in many different ways
0:15:16 > 0:15:21there and you didn't fall for it.
0:15:21 > 0:15:23Here are all the results from week ten.
0:15:23 > 0:15:24Here are all the results from week ten.
0:15:24 > 0:15:26Big win for Seattle in that Thursday night game.
0:15:26 > 0:15:2722-16 against the Arizona Cardinals.
0:15:27 > 0:15:29So, they are staying in touch with the Rams.
0:15:29 > 0:15:31Cleveland lost again, Detroit beating them 38-24.
0:15:31 > 0:15:36The Jets were beaten by Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 15-10.
0:15:36 > 0:15:40There was a big win for Tennessee as well against Cincinnati, 24-20.
0:15:40 > 0:15:45We'll show you a little bit more of that in just a moment.
0:15:45 > 0:15:47As far as the standings are concerned, Patriots
0:15:47 > 0:15:51and the Steelers were seven and two, records in the East and the North.
0:15:51 > 0:15:53Titans and The Jags, looks like a head-to-head battle
0:15:53 > 0:15:55between the two of them in the South.
0:15:55 > 0:15:58And the Chiefs, despite being on a bye week,
0:15:58 > 0:16:01still maintain a healthy lead in the West.
0:16:01 > 0:16:04The Eagles were also on a bye week, 8-1, best record in the NFL
0:16:04 > 0:16:06at the moment in the East.
0:16:06 > 0:16:08Vikings have a two-game lead over the Lions
0:16:08 > 0:16:09and the Packers in the North.
0:16:09 > 0:16:11Fascinating battle in the South between the Saints
0:16:11 > 0:16:14and the Panthers and the Falcons.
0:16:14 > 0:16:18It's a two-way fight in the West between the Rams and the Seahawks.
0:16:18 > 0:16:23But notice that important 1 in the W column for the 49ers.
0:16:23 > 0:16:25So, we're going to bring you highlights of Thursday's game
0:16:25 > 0:16:31between Tennessee and Pittsburg brother in just a moment.
0:16:31 > 0:16:34Before we do, we are going to look back at Tennessee's win
0:16:34 > 0:16:35against Cincinnati, and how their quarterback
0:16:35 > 0:16:37Marcus Mariota orchestrated their game-winning drive.
0:16:37 > 0:16:40Because they basically went from one end of the field to the other,
0:16:40 > 0:16:43to snuff out the Bengals in this game.
0:16:43 > 0:16:45They are three points down.
0:16:45 > 0:16:47They have originally started this drive with five
0:16:47 > 0:16:50minutes left on the clock on their own 27-yard line.
0:16:50 > 0:16:52So, now, they've still got three time-outs.
0:16:52 > 0:16:53So, now, they've still got three time-outs.
0:16:53 > 0:16:56Just shy of three minutes left, and they're are on the 50-yard line.
0:16:56 > 0:17:03So, throughout this drive, what are they trying to do?
0:17:03 > 0:17:06First of all, they need to score, that's the most important part.
0:17:06 > 0:17:09Also they need to take a little bit time off the clock.
0:17:09 > 0:17:11Five minutes left, they have plenty of time to score.
0:17:11 > 0:17:14Even here, two minutes and 58 seconds, that is an eternity
0:17:14 > 0:17:17for them to be able to get the ball down the field.
0:17:17 > 0:17:20What you want to do there is go down the middle because it
0:17:20 > 0:17:22keeps your man in play.
0:17:22 > 0:17:24If you go out of bounds, the clock stops.
0:17:24 > 0:17:27If you stay in the middle, the clock keeps going.
0:17:27 > 0:17:29Because they have time-outs, they are in control of that.
0:17:29 > 0:17:32They've been running the ball all game, so be linebackers suck up,
0:17:32 > 0:17:34and that's where you throw the ball back behind them.
0:17:34 > 0:17:36The more you run it, the better.
0:17:36 > 0:17:38We've moved it on to that 30-yard line.
0:17:38 > 0:17:40Still two minutes 22 on the clock, and they've still got
0:17:40 > 0:17:42their three time-outs.
0:17:42 > 0:17:42Yeah.
0:17:42 > 0:17:44That's still a bunch of time.
0:17:44 > 0:17:47They still have the opportunity to run the football down the field.
0:17:47 > 0:17:50If this was a minute left, there's no way they would run
0:17:50 > 0:17:51the football right there.
0:17:51 > 0:17:55But they still have plenty of time.
0:17:55 > 0:17:57Also, not only do they have their time-outs,
0:17:57 > 0:17:59the two minute warning is also an additional time-out.
0:17:59 > 0:18:00So they actually have four time-outs.
0:18:00 > 0:18:02They can run the ball even more.
0:18:02 > 0:18:05From a defensive point of view, when you know the offense are trying
0:18:05 > 0:18:09to run down the clock, what can you do to try and delay it?
0:18:09 > 0:18:10Very little.
0:18:10 > 0:18:11You've just got to stop them.
0:18:11 > 0:18:14The problem is, that defense has been on the field all game.
0:18:14 > 0:18:18They were on the field for 40 minutes.
0:18:18 > 0:18:20They're already worn out.
0:18:20 > 0:18:21OK.
0:18:21 > 0:18:24Now, we are at the 3rd & 5, around the 25-yard line.
0:18:24 > 0:18:27The thing is, they are within field goal range here, so they know
0:18:27 > 0:18:31if it was to all go wrong, they'd get the three and they'd be
0:18:31 > 0:18:32level with the Bengals.
0:18:32 > 0:18:35It would still give them, 1.55 is an eternity, is it,
0:18:35 > 0:18:37in the fourth quarter?
0:18:37 > 0:18:40On top of that, the field goal only gets them to a tie.
0:18:40 > 0:18:41It doesn't make them win the game.
0:18:41 > 0:18:43They have to go for the win here.
0:18:43 > 0:18:45The have to go for the score.
0:18:45 > 0:18:46You know I like this.
0:18:46 > 0:18:47This is a great play.
0:18:47 > 0:18:49Explain why.
0:18:49 > 0:18:51It's because they needed to get five yards.
0:18:51 > 0:18:53The cornerback is sitting at five, thinking they are going to throw
0:18:53 > 0:18:56a short ball, and they got him with a double move.
0:18:56 > 0:18:59Caused a pass interference, a new set of downs, now they can
0:18:59 > 0:19:00go and try to score.
0:19:00 > 0:19:02Even though they didn't catch that ball, there
0:19:02 > 0:19:03was a foul, penalty called.
0:19:03 > 0:19:05That gives them the next set of downs.
0:19:05 > 0:19:08Exactly.
0:19:08 > 0:19:10So, now, they've still got a couple of time-outs.
0:19:10 > 0:19:13We join them at 2nd & 2, and the ball is on around
0:19:13 > 0:19:14the 12 and 13-yard line.
0:19:14 > 0:19:17This is where it helps if your quarterback can run as well.
0:19:17 > 0:19:19Absolutely, it gives you an option.
0:19:19 > 0:19:21Because he knows, I can't turn the ball over by
0:19:21 > 0:19:22forcing a bad throw.
0:19:22 > 0:19:23So, what does he do?
0:19:23 > 0:19:26He takes off because he knows, I've got to protect this ball
0:19:26 > 0:19:28and at least get the field goal.
0:19:28 > 0:19:29And stay in bounds?
0:19:29 > 0:19:32Um, I think he was trying to get to the end zone.
0:19:32 > 0:19:34The guy just so happened to bring him down.
0:19:34 > 0:19:36Which leaves them with this.
0:19:36 > 0:19:38And the game-winning touchdown.
0:19:38 > 0:19:40Great call.
0:19:40 > 0:19:43Get it to your guy who can move the pile.
0:19:43 > 0:19:46A physical guy who can break tackles.
0:19:46 > 0:19:48DiMarco Murray playing a good game, getting the ball,
0:19:48 > 0:19:50quick throw, great.
0:19:50 > 0:19:52Just hold onto it and get it over the goal line.
0:19:52 > 0:19:55It was a great play.
0:19:55 > 0:19:58Obviously, in a third-down situation, if they did score in 4th
0:19:58 > 0:20:00down, they have to kick the field goal.
0:20:00 > 0:20:02So they needed to score, and DiMarco Murray was able to get
0:20:02 > 0:20:04the ball across the line.
0:20:04 > 0:20:07That's a great drive, isn't it?
0:20:07 > 0:20:10We couldn't show everything because we don't have time.
0:20:10 > 0:20:13But what you can see with that, I think, as a fan and maybe
0:20:13 > 0:20:15as a new fan, it's a whole load of chess moves.
0:20:15 > 0:20:18It isn't simply getting the ball from one end
0:20:18 > 0:20:20of the field to the other in the quickest possible time.
0:20:20 > 0:20:21Time management.
0:20:21 > 0:20:24This is where head coaches come into play, how they are managing
0:20:24 > 0:20:26the clock, the play calling.
0:20:26 > 0:20:26It's all about winning.
0:20:26 > 0:20:29How much is the quarterback aware of the play clock there?
0:20:29 > 0:20:32Or has he got so much going on that he has
0:20:32 > 0:20:33to rely on his head coach?
0:20:33 > 0:20:36In that particular situation, it is crucial he knows the play clock.
0:20:36 > 0:20:38The play clock for him is going to be right
0:20:38 > 0:20:39there in the corner.
0:20:39 > 0:20:42He had to be sitting over there, looking, trying to run down
0:20:42 > 0:20:45as much time as possible, if they are trying to preserve
0:20:45 > 0:20:48a lead, or if they are trying to score and score multiple
0:20:48 > 0:20:50touchdowns, then he has to score more and more.
0:20:50 > 0:20:52So, he's very aware of what is going on.
0:20:52 > 0:20:54They are clever lads, aren't they?
0:20:54 > 0:20:55A little bit.
0:20:55 > 0:20:56Yeah, of course.
0:20:56 > 0:20:58It's not just about running up and hitting people,
0:20:58 > 0:20:59like some in the game!
0:20:59 > 0:21:00Oh!
0:21:00 > 0:21:01They are the clever ones.
0:21:01 > 0:21:02He set us up!
0:21:02 > 0:21:03Yes, I did.
0:21:03 > 0:21:05To the Titans at the Steelers.
0:21:05 > 0:21:06This was the Thursday night game.
0:21:06 > 0:21:09In it, we had two teams who were topping their divisions,
0:21:09 > 0:21:11two teams who were enjoying a four-game winning streak.
0:21:11 > 0:21:14So, the big question was, would Super Mariota be able
0:21:14 > 0:21:15to match the super offense of Big Ben Bell and Brown?
0:21:20 > 0:21:25COMMENTATOR: The flag is down, free play, takes the shot downfield.
0:21:25 > 0:21:26Antonio Brown goes out and gets it.
0:21:26 > 0:21:27Hard count works.
0:21:27 > 0:21:31Touchdown, Steelers.
0:21:31 > 0:21:33Antonio now on the outside, just a straight take-off.
0:21:33 > 0:21:36Ben knows he's got a free play, so he's going to look off
0:21:36 > 0:21:39the safety, got the safety to move, and basically just
0:21:39 > 0:21:42throw a jump ball.
0:21:42 > 0:21:44Where is a blitz coming from?
0:21:44 > 0:21:45There it is.
0:21:45 > 0:21:47Onto his right, Mariota throws too high, it is intercepted.
0:21:47 > 0:21:49Through it right into the hands of Mike Hilton.
0:21:49 > 0:21:53And the Nickel man out of bounds at the 25.
0:21:53 > 0:21:55Big early mistake from Mariota and the Titans.
0:21:55 > 0:21:57Really, it was just a complete overthrow.
0:21:57 > 0:21:59There was no real pressure to speak of.
0:21:59 > 0:22:02The ball just got away from him.
0:22:02 > 0:22:063rd & goal, here is Mariota, scrambling,
0:22:06 > 0:22:09gets away, did he get in?
0:22:09 > 0:22:14Touchdown.
0:22:14 > 0:22:15Marcus Mariota.
0:22:15 > 0:22:17That's exactly what they say about Mariota, he doesn't understand
0:22:17 > 0:22:20when he gets to the biggest moments, why should anybody have the ball
0:22:20 > 0:22:22in their hands but him?
0:22:22 > 0:22:23More often than not, he loves to run in these situations
0:22:28 > 0:22:31Nine-point game.
0:22:31 > 0:22:34Mariota, 1st down shot down the middle of the field.
0:22:34 > 0:22:36Open, no safety there, Matthews at the 20.
0:22:36 > 0:22:39Cuts back at the 15, and Matthews goes.
0:22:39 > 0:22:42Opening play touchdown for the Titans.
0:22:42 > 0:22:4675 yards, and it is a three-point game just like that.
0:22:46 > 0:22:48This is called quarters coverage here.
0:22:48 > 0:22:51You end up with this receiver and this receiver
0:22:51 > 0:22:54which locks up that safety, which means the post
0:22:54 > 0:22:58is strictly one on one, on the outside, and just too much.
0:22:58 > 0:23:021st & goal for the five.
0:23:02 > 0:23:07Antonio Brown, touchdown!
0:23:07 > 0:23:09And the Steelers respond to the Tennessee touchdown.
0:23:12 > 0:23:15This is 3rd & goal to start the fourth quarter.
0:23:17 > 0:23:17Roethlisberger.
0:23:17 > 0:23:19Fake.
0:23:19 > 0:23:20Going to throw it.
0:23:20 > 0:23:24And it's a touchdown for Jesse James.
0:23:27 > 0:23:30You have to really sell this, to get these guys to buy it.
0:23:30 > 0:23:31They totally did.
0:23:31 > 0:23:35And you don't get many easier touchdown passes than that.
0:23:35 > 0:23:38Here tonight, Steelers have spent a lot of time inside the red zone.
0:23:38 > 0:23:39From the ten, Roethlisberger.
0:23:39 > 0:23:42Throwing end zone.
0:23:42 > 0:23:43Antonio Brown, spectacular catch!
0:23:43 > 0:23:44Touchdown.
0:23:44 > 0:23:48Wow.
0:23:48 > 0:23:51And I do believe I saw my first ever helmet catch.
0:23:51 > 0:23:52Yes.
0:23:52 > 0:23:55Is this a helmet catch, Mike?
0:23:55 > 0:23:56Please tell me that is a helmet catch.
0:23:56 > 0:23:58Pittsburgh.
0:23:58 > 0:24:01Going to get to eight and two.
0:24:05 > 0:24:07So, that win for Pittsburgh moves them to eight and two.
0:24:07 > 0:24:10That makes them the top seed in the AFC, until the Patriots display.
0:24:10 > 0:24:12Obviously, because the Patriots go into their next
0:24:12 > 0:24:14fixture at seven and two.
0:24:14 > 0:24:19Here are the remaining fixtures for this week.
0:24:22 > 0:24:25Let's just pick a few of them out because there are some really
0:24:25 > 0:24:26tasty games coming up.
0:24:26 > 0:24:29Let us start, and lots of them in the NFC as well where there
0:24:29 > 0:24:30are some real powerhouses.
0:24:30 > 0:24:32Rams at Minnesota Vikings.
0:24:32 > 0:24:33Oh, game of the week!
0:24:33 > 0:24:34Top offense, top defense.
0:24:34 > 0:24:35You know who I'm going for.
0:24:35 > 0:24:36The Vikings?
0:24:36 > 0:24:39Of course.
0:24:39 > 0:24:42Apart from the fact you're friends with half of them!
0:24:42 > 0:24:45And you know Mike Zimmer as well who was your coach at Dallas.
0:24:45 > 0:24:46Why else would you go for them?
0:24:51 > 0:24:53Because their offense now has the ability to score points.
0:24:53 > 0:24:54Case Keenum is scoring points.
0:24:54 > 0:24:57We knew the defense was going to basically push them forward
0:24:57 > 0:25:00but now they are scoring points offensively with all these injuries?
0:25:00 > 0:25:02Got to give them credit.
0:25:02 > 0:25:03You know what?
0:25:03 > 0:25:05I want to see how the Rams play?
0:25:05 > 0:25:07Because they've beaten up on some cupcakes, realistically.
0:25:07 > 0:25:10Outside of the Dallas Cowboys, and I think they played another team
0:25:10 > 0:25:11earlier who they beat.
0:25:11 > 0:25:13Outside of that, they've beaten up on some cupcakes.
0:25:13 > 0:25:15This is a legitimate team that they are playing,
0:25:15 > 0:25:17with the Minnesota Vikings.
0:25:17 > 0:25:17I want to see if this team is for real or not.
0:25:21 > 0:25:24Actually, for a lot of the teams in the NFC, the big,
0:25:24 > 0:25:26the surprise big hitters, they've got some fixtures coming up
0:25:26 > 0:25:28where you go, right, now, we'll see what you're made of.
0:25:31 > 0:25:33at home to the Washington Redskins.
0:25:33 > 0:25:35How do you see this one?
0:25:35 > 0:25:36New Orleans.
0:25:36 > 0:25:39At home, if you've ever played New Orleans at home,
0:25:39 > 0:25:42you know it's almost impossible to go in there and beat them.
0:25:42 > 0:25:44This is a team that's hot, on fire, has everything clicking.
0:25:44 > 0:25:45Offense, defense, special teams.
0:25:45 > 0:25:48Why is it so hard to be them in their own dome?
0:25:48 > 0:25:49It's a mystery, man.
0:25:49 > 0:25:51We used to call that place the Bermuda Triangle.
0:25:51 > 0:25:54Like, we would literally, when I was with the Giants, we would
0:25:54 > 0:25:55go there and just disappear.
0:25:55 > 0:25:57Nobody would know what happened to us!
0:25:59 > 0:26:01We would lose about 40, 50 points, nobody knows.
0:26:01 > 0:26:04They've got some New Orleans voodoo thing going on over there.
0:26:04 > 0:26:06An incredible place to go there and play.
0:26:06 > 0:26:07Really difficult to do go and win.
0:26:07 > 0:26:10Oh, man.
0:26:10 > 0:26:11I like that.
0:26:11 > 0:26:14I like the idea of Drew Brees sticking pins into a doll.
0:26:14 > 0:26:18THEY LAUGH.
0:26:18 > 0:26:19I mean, look.
0:26:19 > 0:26:22Now that you don't have to have Drew Brees win every game,
0:26:22 > 0:26:25they are so dynamic with their running game.
0:26:25 > 0:26:27It's hard to beat those guys.
0:26:27 > 0:26:29So, you'll go Saints as well?
0:26:29 > 0:26:30Both of you go Saints.
0:26:30 > 0:26:32Bermuda Triangle!
0:26:32 > 0:26:34Another absolutely fascinating game.
0:26:36 > 0:26:38Not only an NFC matchup, but a divisional matchup as well.
0:26:38 > 0:26:41The Philadelphia Eagles and their amazing record,
0:26:41 > 0:26:45going to Dallas to take on the Cowboys.
0:26:45 > 0:26:48Huge test for the Eagles, yes?
0:26:48 > 0:26:50It would have been if Zeke Elliott was playing.
0:26:50 > 0:26:52And if they had their left tackle.
0:26:52 > 0:26:54If the Cowboys don't have their left tackle,
0:26:54 > 0:26:56Tyrone Smith in this game against Philly, they are going
0:26:56 > 0:27:00to give up 15 sacks to whoever the right defensive end is,
0:27:00 > 0:27:01to give up 15 sacks to whoever the right defensive end is,
0:27:01 > 0:27:02because those defensive lineman for Philly are boiling.
0:27:02 > 0:27:05So, this is a big game for the Philadelphia Eagles.
0:27:05 > 0:27:07I think they're going to be able to beat the Cowboys.
0:27:07 > 0:27:10Yeah, once again, Sean Lee is not in that line-up.
0:27:10 > 0:27:11That defense can get exposed.
0:27:11 > 0:27:13Obviously, they can't play well without him in the line-up.
0:27:13 > 0:27:16You are both going Eagles?
0:27:16 > 0:27:17Yeah.
0:27:17 > 0:27:19OK.
0:27:19 > 0:27:22Let's take a look at some of the highs and lows this week.
0:27:22 > 0:27:26An emotional afternoon for Teddy Bridgwater,
0:27:26 > 0:27:30tears of joy at being active on game day for the first time in two years.
0:27:30 > 0:27:31In this same game...
0:27:31 > 0:27:32Look at that.
0:27:34 > 0:27:37Maurice Harris, who they brought in off the practise squad...
0:27:37 > 0:27:38Anybody can do it.
0:27:38 > 0:27:40I'm starting to believe you, man.
0:27:40 > 0:27:42That man couldn't do it.
0:27:42 > 0:27:44Oh!
0:27:44 > 0:27:46Landing on a side line bystander.
0:27:46 > 0:27:48The Vikings celebrate one of their touchdowns
0:27:48 > 0:27:49by playing leapfrog.
0:27:49 > 0:27:51That's a horrible celebration.
0:27:51 > 0:27:52Now, this is a great celebration.
0:27:52 > 0:27:54This was last week.
0:27:54 > 0:27:55AJ Green's scuffle.
0:27:55 > 0:27:59And the Steelers recreated it.
0:27:59 > 0:28:02These boys are crazy.
0:28:02 > 0:28:03I love that.
0:28:03 > 0:28:05Special teams, special teams.
0:28:05 > 0:28:06Special teams for special players.
0:28:06 > 0:28:08Let me tell you.
0:28:08 > 0:28:11What number does he have?
0:28:11 > 0:28:1233?
0:28:12 > 0:28:1333.
0:28:13 > 0:28:14Welcome!
0:28:14 > 0:28:17Go get it.
0:28:17 > 0:28:18Pushed him forward.
0:28:18 > 0:28:21The Broncos guy thought you might need a bit of help.
0:28:21 > 0:28:23Oh, that is sweet.
0:28:23 > 0:28:25The personal protector always does it.
0:28:25 > 0:28:28You need an athletic guy in there.
0:28:28 > 0:28:32That is Jaguars' Corey Grant who runs the fake punt in for the score.
0:28:32 > 0:28:33Defensive back.
0:28:33 > 0:28:34Special teams player.
0:28:34 > 0:28:36What I like is, even if they are not your friend,
0:28:36 > 0:28:39if they wear the same number, there is some kind
0:28:39 > 0:28:45of connection as well!
0:28:45 > 0:28:48Finally, Robert Woods caught this pass from Jared Gough to go 94
0:28:48 > 0:28:49yards for the touchdown.
0:28:49 > 0:28:51That's the longest Rams play in 53 years.
0:28:51 > 0:28:53I like that.
0:28:55 > 0:28:57We will have plenty more in-depth analysis this Tuesday,
0:28:57 > 0:29:00on those games, on BBC Two, from 11:15pm, NFL This Week.
0:29:00 > 0:29:02So, from myself, Osi and Jason...
0:29:02 > 0:29:04I won't do the cheek slap again.
0:29:04 > 0:29:07It is good night.
0:29:07 > 0:29:09What are you doing?
0:29:09 > 0:29:10Oh, right.
0:29:10 > 0:29:11On me?
