:00:00. > :00:14.It will be time for these two teams to settle it... He's going to fire
:00:15. > :00:28.towards the end zone. Off the near side. Looking down field going deep.
:00:29. > :00:34.... Unbelievable. How did he do that... . The ball's knocked out of
:00:35. > :00:37.his hands. The Denver Broncos are world champions.
:00:38. > :00:40.Good evening. Welcome to the NFL Show. The show may have moved from
:00:41. > :00:46.Saturday but these two are still firmly in place. In the show today,
:00:47. > :00:50.Jason puts the Spotlight on football management with Alan Pardew. I wish
:00:51. > :00:57.I knew how to coach NFL, I would love it. I think you could be more
:00:58. > :01:00.influential. Highlights between the Chargers and Broncos and we take a
:01:01. > :01:09.look at all the lights that burn bright and burnt out in week five of
:01:10. > :01:15.the NFL. As long as we stay unified and together, nothing can get by us.
:01:16. > :01:22.Let's go... Get this party started.
:01:23. > :01:53.Let's rock on. Easy money. With me as ever two-time Super Bowl winner,
:01:54. > :02:00.Osi Umenyiora and NFL quarterback, Jason Bell, the BBC deemed them too
:02:01. > :02:03.entertaining to be here on Saturdays - I think they might have written
:02:04. > :02:07.that. We'll bring you all the action. If you missed last week's
:02:08. > :02:10.show, you can see it on iPlayer. Enough of plugging ourselves, let's
:02:11. > :02:15.bring you some highlights from week five. The New York Giants paid a
:02:16. > :02:19.visit last Sunday to meet the Green Bay Packers. The Giants were
:02:20. > :02:22.stuttering with two losses on the trot and an off the boil offense.
:02:23. > :02:24.The Packers looked like they were starting to warm up on the other
:02:25. > :02:39.hand. It ain't going so well for us. We
:02:40. > :02:45.have got Green Bay at Green Bay. We are the Giants. We can't be victims
:02:46. > :02:51.here. History's on our side tonight. Let's show 'em what we all about.
:02:52. > :02:56.Rodgers throwing to the end zone and reaching for it and catching. Nelson
:02:57. > :03:08.for the touchdown. Here they go. 3rd for the touchdown. Here they go. 3rd
:03:09. > :03:14.6. Two flags on the play. Two flags but for the moment, Cobb is in
:03:15. > :03:23.the end zone. Eagle shift by the offense. There was also 12 men on
:03:24. > :03:29.the field. Penalties offset. Replay 3rd down.
:03:30. > :03:35.On 3rd down and 6 now, Rodgers, taking it very well. Intercepted.
:03:36. > :03:44.Deflected and Jenkins interception. Jenkins will bring it out to the 29.
:03:45. > :03:53.The flag is down on the run back. And the Giants are able to get on
:03:54. > :04:00.the score board. Rodgers and the sideline caught in to the end zone.
:04:01. > :04:04.Is he or not? Adams. Hundredder is able to knock him out. Three
:04:05. > :04:13.officials now conFer. Rodgers thinks he got into the end zone and he does
:04:14. > :04:24.-- confer. That one is able to draw its way back in.
:04:25. > :04:41.Might have sailed into the end zone. Couldn't forward in. Breaking the
:04:42. > :04:50.tackle. Third yard attempt off the foot of Brown. All the way back. And
:04:51. > :04:56.he looks to throw but nothing is happening there. Then he gets banged
:04:57. > :05:10.out of bounds into the Green Bay bench. And no problem.
:05:11. > :05:14.First down. Cobb stays inbounds. 33-yarder. Good.
:05:15. > :05:35.Give it to the fullback. Moo cow ski doing his best -- Moocowski. Third
:05:36. > :05:39.one through the upright. The Giants, can they mount something from the
:05:40. > :05:43.37-yard line? Manning. Almost picked off.
:05:44. > :05:57.Manning. Fires to the back of the end zone. Touchdown! What a grab!
:05:58. > :06:13.Wow! The Packers lead is 23-16. Two-minute warning. Rodgers slinging
:06:14. > :06:19.it to the outside. Big first down for Cobb.
:06:20. > :06:25.Incredible amount of time to throw and the ability of Rodgers to buy
:06:26. > :06:34.that time. In many ways, what is the difference in the game? Three in a
:06:35. > :06:48.row, man. Let's quickly run through the rest of the week five results:
:06:49. > :07:03.Tom Brady returned to the Patriots. Big result for Atlanta.
:07:04. > :07:11.Buffalo beat LA. The Panthers losing again. The interesting thing about
:07:12. > :07:16.Indianapolis, they were in London in week four, they didn't get a bye
:07:17. > :07:20.week, yet they go back and win which might be significant when looking at
:07:21. > :07:29.franchises going forward. Here are the standings any how.
:07:30. > :07:54.Minnesota the only team with a 100% record in the NFL. Atlanta top of
:07:55. > :07:59.NFC south. Certain people in this studio might have predicted some of
:08:00. > :08:04.this. Look, I just can't help myself, man, you know. You can't
:08:05. > :08:08.help yourself what? A lot of the things I say might sound crazy at
:08:09. > :08:16.the time but they always end up coming true. If you say enough crazy
:08:17. > :08:21.things, eventually one or two... Throwing spaghetti hoops on the
:08:22. > :08:27.wall, eventually it sticks. A lot of people will have fallen in love with
:08:28. > :08:32.Carolina last season. Cam Newton. Is there still time this season? They
:08:33. > :08:35.are not the same team, you know, defensively, they are not doing the
:08:36. > :08:40.same things. Their defense is weak. We should have a word on Minnesota,
:08:41. > :08:43.the only team unbeaten in the NFL. Does it surprise you that they're
:08:44. > :08:49.the only team unbeaten? It's a little surprising because of the
:08:50. > :08:54.injuries, but knowing Zimmer, they've gotten his personality and
:08:55. > :08:58.that's a team that overcomes. Do we start talking about them now in week
:08:59. > :09:02.six, or as we go into week six as potential Super Bowl winners? Too
:09:03. > :09:07.early for that right now. This is a fantastic job by the head coach. Who
:09:08. > :09:11.would have thought at this juncture the Minnesota Vikings would be the
:09:12. > :09:17.only undefeated team, unbelievable job by Zimmer. Let's pick out some
:09:18. > :09:26.of the highlights of week five. Osi's favourite man, Tom Brady. Good
:09:27. > :09:29.quarterback. The best. Without annoying Cleveland fans, is a game
:09:30. > :09:34.against Cleveland the best game to come back into if you haven't played
:09:35. > :09:37.this season? It is, but it's a professional football team and they
:09:38. > :09:41.have talented players, but yes, it is.
:09:42. > :09:45.That was very diplomatic. Also, if we are getting slightly technical,
:09:46. > :09:48.is it a good offense for him to come back into? I know he's amazing and
:09:49. > :09:54.everything, but you've both explained and we saw Bennett there
:09:55. > :10:00.and Gronkowski, two players that maybe the casual fan ought to pay
:10:01. > :10:04.attention to. You have a match-up nightmare in those two people, two
:10:05. > :10:12.big, fast, physical. Then what he does, because they can run and catch
:10:13. > :10:16.and also block, he sees what is going on. If you bring in
:10:17. > :10:21.Leinbachers, they are not able to match up with gran cow ski and
:10:22. > :10:26.Bennett. He goes over the top. Brady is back though. He's a good
:10:27. > :10:34.quarterback. He's back! The Steelers. From Big Ben to Sammy
:10:35. > :10:38.Coates. Legitimate number two receiver. The thing about him, he's
:10:39. > :10:42.a deep threat and Big Ben will keep going at him. Doesn't calf every
:10:43. > :10:47.ball but he'll keep giving him a chance. When you say he's a deep
:10:48. > :10:53.threat. I know NFL and American sport love stats, I like them as
:10:54. > :10:57.well. He's coveraging 22.2 yards per reception from the 21 catches.
:10:58. > :11:02.Again, for those that maybe don't know, that is a big distance for a
:11:03. > :11:08.wide person? That is a long distance. He does it consistently.
:11:09. > :11:11.Home run hitter is what he is. Everybody who catches a deep ball
:11:12. > :11:19.will be a touchdown for you. Home run. Pittsburgh are going to retire
:11:20. > :11:25.the retro jerseys. Bumble bees. Let's take a look at Elliott for the
:11:26. > :11:30.Cowboys who started the season very well. I don't wish to use this as a
:11:31. > :11:37.pun, for he's hit the ground running. He gets vertical fast. What
:11:38. > :11:41.does that mean? Growing straight through the middle, not vertical,
:11:42. > :11:45.just dancing straight up the middle. With a big old line like that, that
:11:46. > :11:50.is what you do. The offensive line has been the best in football. You
:11:51. > :11:53.put a special runner back behind the offensive line, you get exactly what
:11:54. > :12:00.is happening with this guy here. I'll be surprised if he doesn't have
:12:01. > :12:04.1700 yards this year. Do you like the Cowboys as a potential Super
:12:05. > :12:12.Bowl team? Or is that going too far? I like them with Tony at a the back.
:12:13. > :12:20.He's going to come in? Absolutely. Tony Romu. Tony Romu is a special
:12:21. > :12:24.quarterback in this league. But this has been working. It worked when he
:12:25. > :12:33.was in there. He's not in there. As soon as he gets back healthy, he's
:12:34. > :12:41.the starting quarterback. When he is back, Romu or Prescot? Romu. We are
:12:42. > :12:48.going to show you this. There isn't going to be much time to watch
:12:49. > :12:53.Miami. We kind of like to focus on the teams nearer the top with Super
:12:54. > :12:57.Bowl chances. We'll show you this. I love this. You know what is hard
:12:58. > :13:02.about the little guys like this. Only 5'6". When you are running down
:13:03. > :13:07.trying to tackle, you can't see him behind the blockers. Size doesn't
:13:08. > :13:10.always matter, man. Are you saying it's harder for the defense when you
:13:11. > :13:17.are small 1234 I've done this so many times, you have a guy behind
:13:18. > :13:22.you, he just pops out. Little guys, man... Dante Hall was doing that. He
:13:23. > :13:26.was a little guy, can't see him running down. I'm telling you, I've
:13:27. > :13:28.been in this situation. So in that situation, small is beautiful? Small
:13:29. > :13:34.is good. OK. You learn something every day
:13:35. > :13:38.with this show. Previously Osi and Jason have been out meeting our own
:13:39. > :13:39.footballers and comparing skills. This week Jason went to Crystal
:13:40. > :13:56.Palace to focus on management. We can always get you some kit. Have
:13:57. > :14:03.a run around. I like how you feel about me. I don't want to change
:14:04. > :14:10.that. So I heard you are a Lombardi fan? I
:14:11. > :14:16.am. Early on in my coaching career, I stumbled across his quotes, his
:14:17. > :14:19.books and he's a real inspirational character, something I relate to at
:14:20. > :14:24.this football club because Green Bay not being the Knost glamorous of
:14:25. > :14:29.teams like ourselves, so trying to do it against the odds, it's up my
:14:30. > :14:34.street. You are a former player, I'm not just saying this because it's
:14:35. > :14:36.you, but I always liked getting coached by former players, they can
:14:37. > :14:42.connect. Has that been advantageous for you? Yes. I've played with
:14:43. > :14:45.managers who've not played the game. The structure is fine but the
:14:46. > :14:50.emotions get lost with them. Being an ex-player, you probably have a
:14:51. > :14:54.bit more feel for than than you would. We have the offense and
:14:55. > :15:00.defense, seems like you are doing it all? No, no, no. Actually, from the
:15:01. > :15:06.NFL, I did take that sort of policy but because our game's so fluid and
:15:07. > :15:10.kind of felt as though your defense and attack were on the pitch at the
:15:11. > :15:15.same time, it felt like you were all defending but I do have, within my
:15:16. > :15:22.team, a coach I designate and a coach I designate for the attackers.
:15:23. > :15:24.Not as defined as the NFL. It's always one-on-one match-ups. You
:15:25. > :15:30.have got to learn your opponents so as a player I would really study a
:15:31. > :15:36.guy. We have an app where a player can go on and see his opponent, all
:15:37. > :15:40.the clips, everything. What he eats, drinks, the dances he likes, et
:15:41. > :15:44.cetera, everything. You know what, we know when they have been on there
:15:45. > :15:47.too because it registers with the main computer. They can check it
:15:48. > :16:01.out. I know. You have not put your time
:16:02. > :16:06.on. Absolutely. You can concentrate too much on the opposition, you will
:16:07. > :16:13.take away a little bit of positivity and maybe a bit of flair. Momentum
:16:14. > :16:17.is about you being in a place where you naturally do good things.
:16:18. > :16:21.Because you are confident. When you are not confident, there is no
:16:22. > :16:28.momentum and you have to try and find out. When you get momentum, the
:16:29. > :16:33.game becomes easy. You are fighting. Sometimes, it can get worse. I know
:16:34. > :16:46.that. For me, it is a pleasure because
:16:47. > :16:51.most of the time when I got time with the coach, I was in trouble.
:16:52. > :16:53.This is good. My staff say they only worry about the gaffer when they
:16:54. > :16:56.start ignoring me. It is important to speak to players, my daughter is
:16:57. > :17:02.always open. I might have to come by and say hello. I will let you coach
:17:03. > :17:13.your team. It has been nice to speak to you -- my door is always open.
:17:14. > :17:23.Guys you know you are welcome to have a cup of tea. When you met him,
:17:24. > :17:29.were you surprised at how much he has taken from NFL and tried to
:17:30. > :17:33.bring into his management? I was then he explained about being a fan
:17:34. > :17:38.of Green Bay and studying others sports and teams. It made sense that
:17:39. > :17:45.he would take whatever he could from whatever sport that would help. Who
:17:46. > :17:51.has the harder job? Who has to do more, a football manager in this
:17:52. > :17:57.country or a head coach in the NFL? I think a football manager in this
:17:58. > :18:01.country. He has control of a lot of aspects of his organisation. Head
:18:02. > :18:07.football coaches have to keep everything together and handle
:18:08. > :18:14.emotions and give pep talks. Some guys. Honestly, not to belittle the
:18:15. > :18:23.job of NFL head coach, but I have always wondered why they get paid so
:18:24. > :18:27.much money. In most instances, the bar not even a special teams
:18:28. > :18:32.coordinator, they managed the teams and manage the ego of the teams. I
:18:33. > :18:41.never really thought they did that much. I could be wrong, but I never
:18:42. > :18:46.thought they really did that much. Maybe we should put you into a head
:18:47. > :18:53.coach role for a week. That would be good. I am not sure many would go
:18:54. > :18:56.for it. The highlight of the only games so far in week six, the
:18:57. > :19:06.matchup between the San Diego Chargers and the Denver Broncos. The
:19:07. > :19:16.four on one Broncos are not ones to let anything out of their grip. The
:19:17. > :19:21.Chargers come in with this almost impossible to believe, four losses,
:19:22. > :19:32.the way they lost, they could have been three and two at the worst if
:19:33. > :19:35.you listen to Philip Rivers. Mike McCoy says no doubt, this football
:19:36. > :19:45.team is a lot better than the record. Denver against San Diego.
:19:46. > :19:55.Open. Catch is made, big game. It was Henry. One receiving. He is
:19:56. > :20:09.caught. Henry with the touchdown. The rookie from Arkansas. Again,
:20:10. > :20:23.right on the money. 37 yards. Lambeau drives it through. -- Lambo.
:20:24. > :20:31.He may have touched it. It is picked up and taken into the end zone by
:20:32. > :20:38.Parks. The ball touched the San Diego player in the angle. They
:20:39. > :20:47.cannot advance a cake. First and then at the 11 yard line -- Click.
:20:48. > :20:58.Dead centre. Gordon has got an open field. He breaks through that. --
:20:59. > :21:11.kick. Lambo converts, second and ten. Siemian complete set. The
:21:12. > :21:28.Chargers have recovered. This is Lambo at 431. He is good again. A
:21:29. > :21:42.diving grab. He is four for four at the nine. He has come up big. There
:21:43. > :21:58.were two files, both by the offence. They are in the player holding --
:21:59. > :22:14.fouls. What a short kick here. Denver recovers at the 15th.
:22:15. > :22:19.Siemian. He has Sanders at the 21. It is caught for the touchdown by
:22:20. > :22:30.Fowler. Do not let the quarterback runaround. Three receivers. Siemian
:22:31. > :22:36.he'd slipped and it is knocked down and the game is over and the
:22:37. > :22:45.Chargers have held on for a much-needed victory. Here are the
:22:46. > :22:50.other games in week six. A big one between the Philadelphia Eagles and
:22:51. > :22:56.the Washington Redskins. Interesting to see how the bangles cope at the
:22:57. > :23:03.Patriots. Steelers are at the dolphins and Bert rams are at the
:23:04. > :23:11.Detroit's lions. The Cowboys and the Packers will be a fascinating game.
:23:12. > :23:17.We will focus on the Atlanta Falcons at the Seattle Seahawks. Have
:23:18. > :23:24.Atlantis surprised you? They have found their Mojo. They are doing
:23:25. > :23:31.good things. Playing well. Matt Ryan has a lot of options. Absolutely.
:23:32. > :23:37.They have the receivers who can beat you. If you take those guys away,
:23:38. > :23:43.they will beat you with your running backs, Freeman and Coleman. They are
:23:44. > :23:51.going into a place traditionally which is difficult for an offence.
:23:52. > :23:57.The place is loud. It is rocking in Seattle and that hurts and fans. It
:23:58. > :24:02.impacts the game. The first time we played, we had an offensive line
:24:03. > :24:11.out, he had six ball stars, could not hear a single thing that Eli was
:24:12. > :24:17.saying. He had to guess. You had to look at the quarterback, they go on
:24:18. > :24:23.a silent count, you cannot hear anything. He had to guess when it
:24:24. > :24:29.was coming and he was off six times. For Russell Wilson, they are quiet
:24:30. > :24:35.on the offence. The problem for Russell Wilson is a fitness one. He
:24:36. > :24:40.has been banged up but he has been playing well and has been able to
:24:41. > :24:48.bounce back. By the Seahawks still as powerful? They are still one of
:24:49. > :24:54.the best teams and it will be difficult to beat them in Seattle.
:24:55. > :24:59.They have an outstanding head coach, they are a good arm offence and
:25:00. > :25:07.defence. It will be really tough to beat them. You are a former player
:25:08. > :25:14.for the Falklands, you will get excited, but we got a similar start
:25:15. > :25:21.from Atlanta last season -- Falklands. They will be able to
:25:22. > :25:27.fight back from adversity. The main thing is getting Matt Ryan on target
:25:28. > :25:32.and he feels very comfortable. We will be keeping an eye on the
:25:33. > :25:38.Falcons and the Seahawks. We will look at the highs and lows from week
:25:39. > :25:45.five. We will star with a man who features virtually every week,
:25:46. > :25:51.Beckham Junior, he had an argument with a kicking net last week, this
:25:52. > :26:00.week he made up with that. Here is his post match interview. We hugged
:26:01. > :26:05.it out. Last time I hit him, he hit me back and I told him it was good.
:26:06. > :26:15.I said from now on, we could be friends. It is what it is. We had
:26:16. > :26:19.fun. He did that with a straight face. Philip Rivers was furious
:26:20. > :26:23.during the San Diego game and his mood was not helped by some of the
:26:24. > :26:34.things he was watching from the sidelines. He has played better. Do
:26:35. > :26:42.Indianapolis know what they are doing? It is confusing. You're meant
:26:43. > :26:47.to use your hands to catch, but occasionally the helmet helps.
:26:48. > :26:54.Michael clap written -- Crabtree ought to have used his hands. Look
:26:55. > :27:00.at their fear on Matthew Stafford's phase! He was all right. Defence ten
:27:01. > :27:15.to play it cool when their helmets are not off. It looked like he just
:27:16. > :27:21.threw the ball. You need two hands. We will show you that, just to watch
:27:22. > :27:30.the bumps. You have to know your opponent. I am not going to bomb
:27:31. > :27:43.either of you. Let me point you in the direction of what is coming your
:27:44. > :27:50.way -- bump. From us, it is good night, we will see you next week.
:27:51. > :27:55.There is no animality here, no helmet to hide the expression,
:27:56. > :28:00.disguise the emotion, there is no release, no run, no contact, Noel
:28:01. > :28:08.hit to get it out of your system. Let me ask you something. It is so
