0:00:41 > 0:00:48Hello. We are at the home of Chelsea this week were one man in particular

0:00:48 > 0:00:54will have a close eye on the Blues lioness is here. Coming up, it has

0:00:54 > 0:00:59been a turbulent week for Phil Neville following his appointment as

0:00:59 > 0:01:05the New England head coach. MSAs withdrew to become the next manager,

0:01:05 > 0:01:12can her side maintained their home record when they host Everton? And

0:01:12 > 0:01:15the new Doncaster manager aims to engineer at their return to the top

0:01:15 > 0:01:24flight. Plenty to discuss with Rachel over the next half an hour

0:01:24 > 0:01:28and we begin with England, where it has not exactly been a quiet

0:01:28 > 0:01:35introduction for the new boss.Phil Neville has been appointed head

0:01:35 > 0:01:40coach of women's England football team.It is an honour to be the head

0:01:40 > 0:01:46coach of the women's national team. How can he jump above everyone else?

0:01:46 > 0:01:51It is a fantastic opportunity for him.It is not really about Phil

0:01:51 > 0:01:55Neville, it is someone pointed to the number one women's job who did

0:01:55 > 0:02:01not meet the criteria.He has never worked within the women's game.We

0:02:01 > 0:02:07had criteria, we searched for people with international experience and we

0:02:07 > 0:02:18drew up a short list, we

0:02:19 > 0:02:21exhausted that list, many of them interested in the role, but not

0:02:21 > 0:02:24really willing to be put under the sort of scrutiny that they thought

0:02:24 > 0:02:27the role would be under from the media. At that point, his name came

0:02:27 > 0:02:30up from people I spoke to and I rang him and asked him if he wasn't

0:02:30 > 0:02:32arrested.Do you think they were worried about coming to work for an

0:02:32 > 0:02:40organisation that handles the matter with Aluko? That was not mentioned

0:02:40 > 0:02:48to me. I am sure it may have been a factor.Phil Neville has had to

0:02:48 > 0:02:52apologise for sexist remarks on Twitter. The FA confirmed he would

0:02:52 > 0:02:56not be punished because the comments do not reach the threshold for a

0:02:56 > 0:03:02charge.He has apologised and I will not try and excludes it. He has

0:03:02 > 0:03:07apologised. In my experience of the man and I have spent a lot of time

0:03:07 > 0:03:12with him, it is not reflective of the man I met. During his interview,

0:03:12 > 0:03:18he spoke very eloquently about his passion to help men to women in the

0:03:18 > 0:03:21game, something no one else talked about on the same level with the

0:03:21 > 0:03:26thoughtfulness that he had. They did so well to get to third in the world

0:03:26 > 0:03:30but ultimately that is a bronze medal and we are aiming for the gold

0:03:30 > 0:03:38medal.What we are determined to do is by the time this post comes

0:03:38 > 0:03:43again, we want to have developed female coaches in this country with

0:03:43 > 0:03:48a passion, the capability and the confidence to go for the job.It is

0:03:48 > 0:03:52a high-profile name in English football in terms of his career and

0:03:52 > 0:03:56I suppose you can expect there to be opinions about his new role from

0:03:56 > 0:04:00others, but what have you made of some of the comments?I can

0:04:00 > 0:04:05understand most of the comments, those who said he is not qualified,

0:04:05 > 0:04:10he does not have any managerial experience or experience in the

0:04:10 > 0:04:14women's game, as far as all the Twitter debate, his historical

0:04:14 > 0:04:19tweets, I understand those, if people take offence, then they have

0:04:19 > 0:04:23to be addressed. He has apologised for that and the FA have dealt with

0:04:23 > 0:04:27that and hopefully we can look up the positives of what he will bring

0:04:27 > 0:04:32from now on.He will have to have a backroom staff, how important is

0:04:32 > 0:04:36that going to be for him with the lack of experience in managing

0:04:36 > 0:04:41women?I

0:04:45 > 0:04:48women?I do not think he will be under any illusions that he could do

0:04:48 > 0:04:51this job but that the perfect backroom staff and he is likely to

0:04:51 > 0:04:53bring in people like Casey Stoney, I think she is going to join the new

0:04:53 > 0:04:56men tour programme which is to do that, increase the number of female

0:04:56 > 0:04:58coaches qualified in the game and hopefully in four years' time we

0:04:58 > 0:05:03will be able to have a group of female coaches qualified and ready

0:05:03 > 0:05:07to go on and lead the women's national team and maybe some other

0:05:07 > 0:05:11people who will help advise Phil Neville and the staff to complement

0:05:11 > 0:05:15the things he does not have a lot of experience with. How much of an

0:05:15 > 0:05:20eye-opener has this been for the FA in terms of trying to get a new

0:05:20 > 0:05:26England head coach and people

0:05:28 > 0:05:30England head coach and people like Emma Hayes not necessarily jumping

0:05:30 > 0:05:35to take that role. They made it difficult with their handling of

0:05:35 > 0:05:43Mark Samson and the Eni Aluko situation. They found that. The

0:05:43 > 0:05:46facts are, Phil Neville was appointed because there were no

0:05:46 > 0:05:50candidates left in the running initially for the first job. The FA

0:05:50 > 0:05:54had to think outside the box, look at the job description and the

0:05:54 > 0:05:59criteria and they brought Phil Neville in and his experience at

0:05:59 > 0:06:02Manchester United, his international experience and his professionalism

0:06:02 > 0:06:07would just bring a whole new level to this team.He has got some start,

0:06:07 > 0:06:13to play some of the best countries in the world and he will be under

0:06:13 > 0:06:18scrutiny.Absolutely, he is under no illusion. He will relish playing the

0:06:18 > 0:06:22top four teams in the world, being in the tournament, he will love that

0:06:22 > 0:06:27level of pressure and he will be... No stone unturned in his

0:06:27 > 0:06:31preparation. For his personal preparation as well as the team, he

0:06:31 > 0:06:35will love it.We will look forward to that, but there has been plenty

0:06:35 > 0:06:40of English talent on show here today as Chelsea welcome Everton.

0:06:53 > 0:07:01It is a great touch from Carney. A beautiful gold. What a finish by

0:07:01 > 0:07:22Aluko!David six -- Davis!Spence and it is 1-0.Into the net. Bright

0:07:22 > 0:07:31takes the acclaim. It is brilliant. Pinpointed by Carney.

0:07:33 > 0:07:37Pinpointed by Carney.On a week were a former Everton captain became

0:07:37 > 0:07:42manager of England women, a current Everton captain is looking to cause

0:07:42 > 0:07:47an upset against a Chelsea side hoping to keep pace with Manchester

0:07:47 > 0:07:53City. Emma Hayes makes six changes from the side that lost to City in

0:07:53 > 0:07:58the Continental cup semi-finals. As makes her second debut for the club

0:07:58 > 0:08:07after rejoining and there is a first start for Andersson at left-back.

0:08:07 > 0:08:11Everton make two changes from the side that lost to Bristol City.

0:08:11 > 0:08:16Green and Chance are in. Hines who joined from Arsenal this week is on

0:08:16 > 0:08:21the bench.

0:08:22 > 0:08:27the bench. Asante, the first time we have seen her on the ball, it is her

0:08:27 > 0:08:33second debut. Cuthbert, a little bit of space. Durack behind it, she did

0:08:33 > 0:08:38not get the power on it in the end, but nice move from Chelsea. Chelsea

0:08:38 > 0:08:45on top in the early stages but Everton will be encouraged. How

0:08:45 > 0:08:54organise they have been so far and Everton win a free kick. Kelly and

0:08:54 > 0:09:03Turner standing over the ball. It will be Kelly who goes for goal and

0:09:03 > 0:09:07Lindahl make sure, Everton's top scorer this season, serving goals in

0:09:07 > 0:09:1611 appearances. A nice click and Everton could be in here. Offside.

0:09:16 > 0:09:19Good movement, good vision by Everton, they left plenty of players

0:09:19 > 0:09:29up there.

0:09:32 > 0:09:38Asante was almost deceived by that and concedes the penalty.

0:09:38 > 0:09:42Sweetman-Kirk, is she bundled over by Asante? It is right on the edge

0:09:42 > 0:09:50of the area. The decision goes the way of Everton. So Sweetman-Kirk,

0:09:50 > 0:09:58with the opportunity to give Everton the lead against Chelsea. And she

0:09:58 > 0:10:03hits the post! Lindahl goes the wrong way but it does not matter for

0:10:03 > 0:10:05the Chelsea goalkeeper, Sweetman-Kirk hits the post and

0:10:05 > 0:10:12Everton's chance has gone.

0:10:12 > 0:10:15Everton's chance has gone. Can Chelsea make Everton pay at the

0:10:15 > 0:10:24other end? Cuthbert's ball deflected. Turned

0:10:24 > 0:10:29deflected. Turned in by Durack. Fizzing effort by Blundell.

0:10:29 > 0:10:36Sweetman-Kirk wins a free kick to get a set piece. Kelly sandwiched in

0:10:36 > 0:10:42between Andersson and Chapman, Sweetman-Kirk going down under the

0:10:42 > 0:10:46challenge from Chapman. Turner will swing it in again as the sun comes

0:10:46 > 0:10:54out and almost met at the far post, a good opening for Everton and just

0:10:54 > 0:10:58unable to get onto it was Finnigan. She could have connected with that,

0:10:58 > 0:11:02that could surely have been her first goal for the club. Kelly

0:11:02 > 0:11:09coming forward for Everton, swings it in, almost met at the far post by

0:11:09 > 0:11:12Sweetman-Kirk, Chelsea are living dangerously as we approach our time.

0:11:12 > 0:11:18Wonderful ball in again from Kelly and Sweetman-Kirk was inches away.

0:11:18 > 0:11:22You would love to be a fly on the wall to hear what Emma Hayes said to

0:11:22 > 0:11:25them at half-time but it is Everton who have come out of the blocks

0:11:25 > 0:11:31flying. Kelly puts the ball in, Sweetman-Kirk with an acrobatic

0:11:31 > 0:11:36effort, it takes a neck off Blundell and that took the sting out of it

0:11:36 > 0:11:41for Lindahl. She has tried to make up for that penalty miss in some

0:11:41 > 0:11:55style. Carney. It is a way. Picked up by Dunn. Spence might get there.

0:11:55 > 0:12:01That is good work from Chelsea. Dunn tiptoeing around the Everton

0:12:01 > 0:12:15defence. Durack standing up well. Here is Carney, that is a great save

0:12:15 > 0:12:18by Durack. The deflection could have deceived the Everton goalkeeper but

0:12:18 > 0:12:30she was alive to the danger. Carney coming close. Kirby. Chapman.

0:12:30 > 0:12:47Blundell. Ji. Chelsea having to be patient. Kirby lasered off to Ji.

0:12:47 > 0:12:51Nice work, well saved by Durack and it is that movement that is

0:12:51 > 0:12:54improving with the substitutions that Emma Hayes has made, the linkup

0:12:54 > 0:13:03play and Chelsea starting to tap on the door.

0:13:04 > 0:13:09the door. Nice touch by Dunn darting into the area, trying to get it

0:13:09 > 0:13:15through to her team-mate. Lasered off and into the roof of the net.

0:13:15 > 0:13:23And Chelsea have a late, late goal! That breaks the hearts of Everton.

0:13:23 > 0:13:28Andersson with her first goal for the club. She may well have got the

0:13:28 > 0:13:31winner here. 1-0 to Chelsea.

0:13:36 > 0:13:44Well intercepted by Blundell and there is the full-time whistle.

0:13:44 > 0:13:51Chelsea victorious. But Everton will certainly feel they were worth at

0:13:51 > 0:13:53least a point.

0:13:56 > 0:14:00We have come here with a clear way of playing and we have done well

0:14:00 > 0:14:07this season against, against the likes of Man City and Arsenal and

0:14:07 > 0:14:11now Chelsea and we felt the way we play can really unnerve and unsettle

0:14:11 > 0:14:15some of the teams that I've mentioned and we did that again

0:14:15 > 0:14:19today. I don't think anybody would save I was out of order to say we

0:14:19 > 0:14:24should have been two or three up at half-time. It is taking your

0:14:24 > 0:14:29opportunities when they arise. Football will run for another

0:14:29 > 0:14:33thousand years and it will always be the two ends of the pitch, keeping

0:14:33 > 0:14:36the opposition out and taking your chances when they come and it was

0:14:36 > 0:14:40not just the penalty, two or three good opportunities from set pieces

0:14:40 > 0:14:47and the keeper has made a couple of saves. That is where Chelsea and

0:14:47 > 0:14:51those teams at the top might have that edge because they are ruthless

0:14:51 > 0:14:54when the chances come but I'm delighted with the girls and where

0:14:54 > 0:15:01the club is progressing. I could not be happier with a defeat if you are

0:15:01 > 0:15:05at the -- ever happy with one!It was Chelsea who took all three

0:15:05 > 0:15:11points and I'm joined now by Emma Hayes, the Chelsea manager. You got

0:15:11 > 0:15:14there in the end, was it a satisfying afternoon other than the

0:15:14 > 0:15:19result?Everybody knows Everton had a tremendous game and played really

0:15:19 > 0:15:25well but I have never won a league or a major champion to that --

0:15:25 > 0:15:29without a game like that. If everybody thinks it's about

0:15:29 > 0:15:31dominating and playing pretty football and having the most

0:15:31 > 0:15:35chances, they are delusional because winning leagues is about being awful

0:15:35 > 0:15:39at times, not at your best, getting a bit of luck and finding the

0:15:39 > 0:15:43solution late on. I have to credit my team because they did well second

0:15:43 > 0:15:49half after we should have been down at half-time.You had to go to the

0:15:49 > 0:15:53bench, a huge game coming up on Thursday. Were you hoping not to

0:15:53 > 0:15:58have to use the reinforcements?I think that would discredit Everton

0:15:58 > 0:16:03because the quality of the teams is improving every week, I can't coach

0:16:03 > 0:16:06for Thursday, after coach for today but I have also had players on

0:16:06 > 0:16:11international duty and some needed more recovery but I pick the team.

0:16:11 > 0:16:15At half-time I had to reflect on that but I think I made the right

0:16:15 > 0:16:20changes.Everton pressed you hide throughout the game, Reading and

0:16:20 > 0:16:22Arsenal similarly, do you think that'll be the same for the rest of

0:16:22 > 0:16:28the season -- oppressed you hike up. I do think it has been a factor in

0:16:28 > 0:16:33the game. It has been about games of both halves but we had to solve the

0:16:33 > 0:16:36high press and that is part of the territory but we have players who

0:16:36 > 0:16:40can come up with the winners. I don't know how we got a clean sheet

0:16:40 > 0:16:44today but we have come away with it and I'll take it.You mentioned

0:16:44 > 0:16:48international duty, the new England head coach has been announced, Phil

0:16:48 > 0:16:52Neville, what are your thoughts on his appointment and the criticism he

0:16:52 > 0:16:58has faced already?I am

0:17:03 > 0:17:04has faced already?I am excited to sitting down with him and talking

0:17:04 > 0:17:07about players and the selection process. I never felt that was clear

0:17:07 > 0:17:09and I hope going for that players are selected on form every week

0:17:09 > 0:17:13because that can make an even bigger difference for England to win a

0:17:13 > 0:17:16major championship.And if it's something that still interest you in

0:17:16 > 0:17:22the future?To be honest, I'm a young coach and still developing at

0:17:22 > 0:17:26club level and I enjoyed the game every week and the events every

0:17:26 > 0:17:30week. It is not something that interested me at this point in time.

0:17:30 > 0:17:34I had burning ambitions to do well in the Champions League as well and

0:17:34 > 0:17:38while my heart is still in that, my focus is in that.We wish you all

0:17:38 > 0:17:44the best for the rest of the season and well done today. It was 1-0 to

0:17:44 > 0:17:48Chelsea but let's see Howard league leaders might City got on when they

0:17:48 > 0:17:55travel to Sunderland. Jeanette Craxi Jeanette Kwakye round up the

0:17:59 > 0:18:01Nick Cushing Butt team had been in outstanding form this season

0:18:01 > 0:18:04Nick Cushing Butt team had been in outstanding form this season with 16

0:18:04 > 0:18:07wins in 16 games and with Chelsea picking up three victory was needed

0:18:07 > 0:18:13to keep their buffer at the top. They should have been up after 18

0:18:13 > 0:18:17minutes but Izzy Christiansen could not finish. Goals have been easy to

0:18:17 > 0:18:22come by for this City team, 53 before this match and after a neat

0:18:22 > 0:18:27piece of build-up, Nikita Parris was on hand to prod home from the header

0:18:27 > 0:18:36despite appeals for offside from Sunderland. Having finished, Parris

0:18:36 > 0:18:38return the favour to Isobel Christiansen and this time at that

0:18:38 > 0:18:44needed no help from any of the team-mates. -- her

0:18:46 > 0:18:49. Sunderland have severed from heavy defeats this season and although

0:18:49 > 0:18:53they won their last league game, any chance of a comeback were put out

0:18:53 > 0:18:57after Parris scored again as she doubled their tally for the

0:18:57 > 0:18:59afternoon, a victory worth celebrating for the skipper.When

0:18:59 > 0:19:06things like this happen against your hometown club and you make 100

0:19:06 > 0:19:09appearances for Man City, I could never have dreamt of it coming here

0:19:09 > 0:19:13at the club have been fantastic for me and I've had some amazing

0:19:13 > 0:19:16memories with them and hopefully many more.

0:19:21 > 0:19:25Phil Neville was out and about this weekend watching Liverpool who put

0:19:25 > 0:19:29eight past Yeovil Town in the last game and Beth England almost gave

0:19:29 > 0:19:32them the perfect start in this one but failed to connect with Jess

0:19:32 > 0:19:39Clarke's cross. Liverpool knew that to keep the pressure on Chelsea and

0:19:39 > 0:19:43Manchester City nothing less than a win would suffice but with Willie

0:19:43 > 0:19:47Kirk's team hovering outside the relegation zone it had ideas of

0:19:47 > 0:19:52their own. Julie Biesmans came close to giving them the lead but Sophie

0:19:52 > 0:19:57came -- Siobhan Chamberlain make a great save. Bristol City would have

0:19:57 > 0:20:00been content with 0-0 at half-time but Liverpool came out with a point

0:20:00 > 0:20:06to prove and Beth England was left with a simple tap in to give them

0:20:06 > 0:20:12the lead. England, a junior international, has yet to earn eight

0:20:12 > 0:20:16senior cap but he has been in great form this season and this stunning

0:20:16 > 0:20:21effort took up to nine goals for the season from six in the last two

0:20:21 > 0:20:30games. England for England perhaps? From Liverpool to Reading for the

0:20:30 > 0:20:41new England manager, Phil Neville was also at Adams Park as the teams

0:20:41 > 0:20:47. The closest either team came in the first up was this effort, Sari

0:20:47 > 0:20:51van Veenendaal beating Melissa Fletcher to be loose ball. The first

0:20:51 > 0:20:55up lacked many chances but the second half came to life. Vivianne

0:20:55 > 0:20:59Miedema with a neat ball but the Dutch international saw her Efford

0:20:59 > 0:21:04well saved by Grace Moloney. Arsenal were looking to get their first

0:21:04 > 0:21:08league win over Joe Montemurro having lost last time out and van

0:21:08 > 0:21:11Veenendahl was on hand to deny Brooke Chaplen from giving Reading

0:21:11 > 0:21:18the lead. With both keepers impressing, Beth Mead was the latest

0:21:18 > 0:21:24player to be denied, Grace Moloney doing her best impression of van

0:21:24 > 0:21:27Veenendahl. Reading had one last chance with time earning out. Lauren

0:21:27 > 0:21:32Bruton looked set to finish but an excellent last ditch block denied

0:21:32 > 0:21:41her.To bounce back after the result two weeks ago, to bounce back and

0:21:41 > 0:21:44take a point off a top team, it shows the progress we are showing,

0:21:44 > 0:21:49that is two top teams in the league we have taken points from. The first

0:21:49 > 0:21:53half was in the balance I thought and second half we created chances

0:21:53 > 0:21:59and they had a couple. A difficult place to come and to come and play

0:21:59 > 0:22:02your brand of football but all credit to Reading, they made it hard

0:22:02 > 0:22:03for us.

0:22:08 > 0:22:11Yeovil boss Jamie Sherwood announced earlier in the week that he would

0:22:11 > 0:22:16step down at the end of the season. With his team struggling at the

0:22:16 > 0:22:19bottom of the leak they nearly fell behind in the opening minute but

0:22:19 > 0:22:22Charlie Wellings was unlucky to see her shortcoming of the post.

0:22:22 > 0:22:25Birmingham were looking for back-to-back league wins for the

0:22:25 > 0:22:30first time this season and after Carter's cross was deemed to be

0:22:30 > 0:22:33handled in the box they were given a perfect opportunity to take the

0:22:33 > 0:22:39lead. Aoife Mannion scored from the spot in their previous game and she

0:22:39 > 0:22:44finished this one to make it 1-0. It always looked like it was going to

0:22:44 > 0:22:48be a hard ask for Yeovil and so it proved with Birmingham fighting

0:22:48 > 0:22:53chance of easy to come by and Allan White should have doubled their lead

0:22:53 > 0:22:58but Megan Walsh was impressive in denying her -- Ellen White. Yeovil

0:22:58 > 0:23:04did not make things easy for themselves. Somehow Walsh got away

0:23:04 > 0:23:10the shop from Lucy Quinn. On the stroke of half-time Birmingham set

0:23:10 > 0:23:14piece found its way through to Meaghan Sargeant, the defender

0:23:14 > 0:23:19getting the final touch to double their lead. The misery for Yeovil

0:23:19 > 0:23:25was soon complete, Jess Carter's cross found its way to White and it

0:23:25 > 0:23:30finished 3-0 to Birmingham and Jamie Shermer was adamant his decision to

0:23:30 > 0:23:36leave was the right one. -- Jimmy Sherwood. It is very difficult. My

0:23:36 > 0:23:40future will not be on the touchline but it gives us the time to write

0:23:40 > 0:23:45the -- find the right person. It gives us time to recruit. We will

0:23:45 > 0:23:50get it right and the next person will be the right person. It is

0:23:50 > 0:23:52Manchester City who lead the way with their perfect record, two

0:23:52 > 0:23:59points ahead of Chelsea who they face on Thursday. Liverpool lead the

0:23:59 > 0:24:03chasing pack. At the bottom it is still Yeovil Town looking for their

0:24:03 > 0:24:09first points of the season. You can set goal alert for all ten teams on

0:24:09 > 0:24:11the BBC sport app.

0:24:11 > 0:24:13set goal alert for all ten teams on the BBC sport app. A tough day for

0:24:13 > 0:24:18Yeovil and it has ended a tough week for them with the announcement that

0:24:18 > 0:24:21the manager and captain will be leaving at the end of the season.

0:24:21 > 0:24:26How do you assess where they are as a club. They had the highs of

0:24:26 > 0:24:32getting into WSL1 but this week has been a low.Gaining professional

0:24:32 > 0:24:35status for next season, it does not show what you are paying people and

0:24:35 > 0:24:41I can only assume that their captain is a qualified teacher and might be

0:24:41 > 0:24:44able to have a better career financially off the pitch and

0:24:44 > 0:24:48similarly the manager. As far as what they are shown on the pitch,

0:24:48 > 0:24:53teams around them like Everton and Bristol, they are at their rivals at

0:24:53 > 0:24:58the moment, they have pushed on and made some good signings. Bristol

0:24:58 > 0:25:02City with the likes of Lauren Hemp, they are scoring goals and they have

0:25:02 > 0:25:07an edge about them in their game whereas unfortunately for Yeovil I

0:25:07 > 0:25:11feel they are standing still somewhat. Another win for Manchester

0:25:11 > 0:25:18City and keep on going.Nikita Parris was instrumental again.With

0:25:18 > 0:25:23her and Jill Scott and their new signings, they are prolific and

0:25:23 > 0:25:26today was another example. The action does not finish this week,

0:25:26 > 0:25:30there is a huge game to come on Thursday night here at Kingsmeadow,

0:25:30 > 0:25:35the top two head to head and it's going to beat title deciding? Can we

0:25:35 > 0:25:41say that yet?Possibly a bit early. How vital for Chelsea that they

0:25:41 > 0:25:45don't come away with nothing?Emma Hayes will be desperate to win it to

0:25:45 > 0:25:48get them back in it, two points behind Manchester City who are

0:25:48 > 0:25:56flying high. They have so much going for them. Emma Hayes, they slipped

0:25:56 > 0:26:00up against Reading and that put them back. Thursday will be massive and I

0:26:00 > 0:26:03am short Phil Neville will be looking at all of the England squad

0:26:03 > 0:26:11pretty much in that game. It'll be exciting, the first encounter

0:26:11 > 0:26:15between these two in the league. Ultimately it could be a title

0:26:15 > 0:26:18decider, that if the pressure Emma Hayes would like to put on her

0:26:18 > 0:26:22player to see if they rise to it. That'll be a huge game on Thursday

0:26:22 > 0:26:25and I'm sure Phil Neville will be here to watch all of the English

0:26:25 > 0:26:28talent on show but he is not the only former Premier League star who

0:26:28 > 0:26:32has made the transition into the women's game. Sue Smith went to

0:26:32 > 0:26:37former pub Doncaster to meet Neil Redfearn who has been tasked with

0:26:37 > 0:26:40taking Doncaster back to where they think they belong.

0:26:49 > 0:26:52Formed in 1969, Doncaster Rovers Belles dominated women's football in

0:26:52 > 0:26:56England in the late 80s and early 90s, winning two league titles and

0:26:56 > 0:27:02six women's FA Cups.

0:27:03 > 0:27:09six women's FA Cups.The great Cas Walker.Recent seasons have not been

0:27:09 > 0:27:14kind for the Belles, controversially relegated from WSL1 in 2013 before

0:27:14 > 0:27:20even kicking a ball and they did not apply for WSL1 this time round

0:27:20 > 0:27:25because financial criteria were beyond their means. But they have

0:27:25 > 0:27:30created something of a concession by appointing a former Premier League

0:27:30 > 0:27:33footballer and Championship manager who lives and breathes football as

0:27:33 > 0:27:39their new boss.Let's go.What has kept you in the game for so long?I

0:27:39 > 0:27:45think the love of the game really. And obviously the coaching side is

0:27:45 > 0:27:49working with people and players and trying to make them better. And

0:27:49 > 0:27:54obviously getting a buzz from that. But it's a great game, and it's all

0:27:54 > 0:27:59I've ever known, something I have done since I was 16. I'm fortunate

0:27:59 > 0:28:06that I'm doing something I love. Well done.Uwano at Barnsley as

0:28:06 > 0:28:14being a bit of a legend -- you are known. And top scorer.I was highest

0:28:14 > 0:28:19scoring midfield in the Premier League at that time, I was

0:28:19 > 0:28:22comfortable and confident without team-mates.Did you always know you

0:28:22 > 0:28:26wanted to be a coach because the transition can be hard? I knew I did

0:28:26 > 0:28:30not want to do it. Did you always think you wanted to stay in the game

0:28:30 > 0:28:36like that? It's a good question. I dearly, most players look at it and

0:28:36 > 0:28:44think the next best thing to playing is coaching. Well done.

0:28:47 > 0:28:51It is busily not for everyone. There are the pressures of the management

0:28:51 > 0:28:56but the bit I get enjoyment out of it is seen players develop and

0:28:56 > 0:29:00working with young players, seen those young men go on to make really

0:29:00 > 0:29:04good players and getting the benefit and the enjoyment of seeing them be

0:29:04 > 0:29:09successful as a big thing.What do you actually bring as a coach?A lot

0:29:09 > 0:29:15of experience. I have had a lot of good and bad experience, which you

0:29:15 > 0:29:22always learn from and how it takes to get where you need to get. Every

0:29:22 > 0:29:26coach is looking for something different and that blank canvas to

0:29:26 > 0:29:31go and work with and you are looking for players that have got this open

0:29:31 > 0:29:35and inquisitive mind to get better and I think that is what you find in

0:29:35 > 0:29:39women's football. You have to maximise your time, you're looking

0:29:39 > 0:29:43at two hours on Tuesday and on a Thursday and a couple of hours on a

0:29:43 > 0:29:56Friday morning and we try to stay as full-time as we can, to the

0:30:05 > 0:30:08benefit of the girls and the team and to be fair at Doncaster, we do

0:30:08 > 0:30:11things a little bit differently, we have not got a huge investor or the

0:30:11 > 0:30:14backing of the club, so we have to develop on our own.Even if you win,

0:30:14 > 0:30:17how do you keep yourself motivated and the players. We have to make

0:30:17 > 0:30:20sure we are ready for the time that we can. We have got a strong

0:30:20 > 0:30:23structure in place and all that we are missing, it is not a secret, it

0:30:23 > 0:30:26is the finances to go with it. But once we get to that point where we

0:30:26 > 0:30:34can, I think we can hit the ground running. Long-term, we want to be in

0:30:34 > 0:30:44the First Division that is something to aim at.Emma Hayes said that for

0:30:44 > 0:30:48women's football to go to the next level, they have delayed with the

0:30:48 > 0:30:55Premier League, do you think that has to happen? The circumstances of

0:30:55 > 0:30:57everyone are different and our circumstances are what they are at

0:30:57 > 0:31:00the moment we are trying to make sure that we are ready to go when we

0:31:00 > 0:31:05can. Our club has a strong history but the game is moving on and we

0:31:05 > 0:31:13have to try and catch up. What do you think

0:31:14 > 0:31:17you think of the of Phil Neville it was good. Ideally from me, it would

0:31:17 > 0:31:20have been a woman. It would be good to get female coaches involved,

0:31:20 > 0:31:24there are some outstanding young coaches involved. I think he will

0:31:24 > 0:31:28bring, he understands the FA being a national player himself, he

0:31:28 > 0:31:31understands what is needed at a national level, how it works and he

0:31:31 > 0:31:36will understand the long breaks in between getting their squads

0:31:36 > 0:31:40together and tournaments. If you are brought up at Manchester United, you

0:31:40 > 0:31:53will have good habits. They will be good to

0:31:57 > 0:32:00pass across. Neil Redford made it back to back wins with a 4-1 win

0:32:00 > 0:32:02over Brighton this afternoon and that keeps Doncaster Belles top of

0:32:02 > 0:32:09WSL two. What a start for him? Brighton will be in WSL one next

0:32:09 > 0:32:14season. He is a quality coach. The girls who have been working under

0:32:14 > 0:32:17him have already said, the expectations in training have been

0:32:17 > 0:32:24on another level and it is showing on the pitch. It is brilliant. His

0:32:24 > 0:32:27pass, working with young players, how vital could there be for

0:32:27 > 0:32:32Doncaster, if you look down the line to a position where they might be

0:32:32 > 0:32:37ready to come into WSL one?He has got so much experience with younger

0:32:37 > 0:32:40players, at the moment Doncaster Belles are having to work with the

0:32:40 > 0:32:43majority of younger players because they cannot buy older and more

0:32:43 > 0:32:49experienced players, but what it says about them as a club, they are

0:32:49 > 0:32:54not ready now financially, but when they are ready from a

0:32:54 > 0:32:58behind-the-scenes point of view, his team is certainly on the pitch and

0:32:58 > 0:33:03ready to make that move. Great to see her looking so fit. She has been

0:33:03 > 0:33:08out for over three years with some terrible injuries. Three surgeries

0:33:08 > 0:33:15and a baby. She still has ambitions to play for England and I would not

0:33:15 > 0:33:19put a pastor. That is about it from us, thank you to Rachel for joining

0:33:19 > 0:33:25me but there is plenty more sport to come on the BBC. Commentary on

0:33:25 > 0:33:29Liverpool's trip to Huddersfield will be live on Tuesday evening. And

0:33:29 > 0:33:32you will be able to see highlights of that matter the rest of the

0:33:32 > 0:33:37Premier League midweek fixture is on Match of the Day on Wednesday night

0:33:37 > 0:33:44at 10:45pm. Kings Meadow did not exactly serve up a classic but three

0:33:44 > 0:33:51vital points for Chelsea as they chase down the leaders.
