:00:55. > :01:11.# Monday Monday. # I don't like Mondays. The round of
:01:12. > :01:32.16, the second Monday, Magic. Coming up on Today at Wimbledon,
:01:33. > :01:36.Murray faces the chaos created by Nick Kyrgios, Serena centres her
:01:37. > :01:44.mind on Svetlana, and we will bring you the best of the busiest day of
:01:45. > :01:49.top-class action. It doesn't happen at any other Grand Slam, the last 16
:01:50. > :01:55.men, the last 16 win an all in action today, leading to one of the
:01:56. > :01:59.best days in sport. It is also July the 4th, and so we have an all
:02:00. > :02:06.American panel, John McEnroe and Tracy Austin with me to discuss the
:02:07. > :02:14.stories. Welcome to both. Happy July the 4th. And commiserations. For
:02:15. > :02:18.what? For losing us. I am so pleased you are with us. At least we have
:02:19. > :02:23.you on the BBC. And we are going to start with what the Americans would
:02:24. > :02:26.bill as the popcorn match on Centre Court, the 2013 Wimbledon champion
:02:27. > :02:32.and second seed against the entertainer of the modern era,
:02:33. > :02:36.Australia's Nick Kyrgios. The world number two soph Australian John
:02:37. > :02:40.Milner last time out and has not dropped a set on his way to the
:02:41. > :02:44.fourth round. But to progress to the last eight, he would have to
:02:45. > :02:49.overcome another Aussie, Nick Kyrgios. The 15th seed was a
:02:50. > :02:53.Wimbledon quarterfinalist in 2014 and looked at his brilliant best to
:02:54. > :02:57.beat Feliciano Lopez yesterday. He and Mary might be rivals today but
:02:58. > :03:03.of court there is definitely a bromance brewing. He is a very
:03:04. > :03:08.relaxed guy. He winds me up all the time. Sometimes he has not done a
:03:09. > :03:18.lot wrong and he has got a rough ride. It is not really fair on him.
:03:19. > :03:23.It was love at first sight. Nick Kyrgios was so relaxed, he actually
:03:24. > :03:28.prepared for it by watching Lleyton Hewitt, his Australian Davis Cup
:03:29. > :03:32.captain and mentor. And that is Lleyton Hewitt's little boy there,
:03:33. > :03:35.looking at things on the phone. When the match started in front of a
:03:36. > :03:38.packed crowd on Centre Court, there were lovely touches from both
:03:39. > :03:45.players, would Nick Kyrgios is trying to drop shot Murray, playing
:03:46. > :03:49.him at his own game. And as usual, Murray with the perfected lob. He
:03:50. > :03:56.really does play that shot so well. And it looked like it would become
:03:57. > :04:04.the match that we had hoped for. We will pick it up in that first set.
:04:05. > :04:07.At 5-6. With Nick Kyrgios serving. John McEnroe in the commentary box
:04:08. > :04:27.alongside John Inverdale. JOHN INVERDALE: Is this when Marie
:04:28. > :04:32.ups the anti-? Of course every top player senses vulnerability. A
:04:33. > :04:41.player feeling pressure. Of course at the end of the set it is only
:04:42. > :04:52.natural that will happen. He had a chance there and he took it. That is
:04:53. > :04:55.a spectacular pass. But Nick Kyrgios, why did he hit an approach
:04:56. > :05:02.like that, giving him time to line that up? Murray says thank you very
:05:03. > :05:08.much. He needs some big serves here now.
:05:09. > :05:22.That is such a shard play -- Sharp play by Murray. The first time the
:05:23. > :05:29.questions were asked of Kyrgios, Murray makes him play like that. And
:05:30. > :05:31.here we are. Almost unforeseen, Andy Murray three points for the first
:05:32. > :05:45.set. UMPIRE: Mr Murray is challenging the
:05:46. > :05:55.call. Ball called in. That was long a share. -- long -ish but it was
:05:56. > :06:05.good -ish. Completely unplayable, saving one break point.
:06:06. > :06:46.The first set goes to Murray. Two set point saved by Nick Kyrgios but
:06:47. > :06:49.not the third. Murray took it 7-5. The second set was interesting.
:06:50. > :06:57.Let's join it early. Kyrgios serving.
:06:58. > :07:04.JOHN INVERDALE: Murray, very disciplined at the moment. An ace
:07:05. > :07:09.from Kyrgios at 109mph. That is almost him pushing it. JOHN MCENROE:
:07:10. > :07:24.And now a second serve. We can see a lack of discipline
:07:25. > :07:30.there because he should have taken the volley. But I'm letting it drop,
:07:31. > :07:35.it allowed Murray time to get to it. He could have got to that in the
:07:36. > :07:44.air. He does not have to play the shot like that. He not have to. That
:07:45. > :07:54.goes without saying. But still worth seeing. And he did not have to do
:07:55. > :07:57.that either. And that is a real shriek of frustration from Kyrgios
:07:58. > :08:19.because he knows he has been the architect of his own downfall here.
:08:20. > :08:26.And the other Australians still in the tournament is at 7-7 in the
:08:27. > :08:33.fifth set at the moment. Lucas Pouille his opponent. It looks as if
:08:34. > :08:58.Kyrgios is on the edge of disaster. Bernard Tomic is playing Lucas
:08:59. > :09:07.Pouille. That match has been swinging this way and bad for the
:09:08. > :09:10.last three and a half hours. And break point for Andy Murray, which
:09:11. > :09:32.could be very, very influential in deciding the outcome of this match.
:09:33. > :09:39.That early break of serve almost seemed to break Kyrgios' heart. It
:09:40. > :09:46.certainly brokers concentration. Murray was on his game. That 124mph
:09:47. > :09:51.ace saw him wrap up the second set in 28 minutes. He took it 6-1. Early
:09:52. > :10:32.in the third, Kyrgios is about to serve.
:10:33. > :10:42.Here he and again it is not the right idea, it is just executing
:10:43. > :11:12.them too short. -- when Kyrgios has been in a hall,
:11:13. > :11:16.his service has documented of it. But then he does that. That is what
:11:17. > :11:21.happened at the end of the first set. And this might be handing the
:11:22. > :11:31.match to Andy Murray on our plate. Three break points.
:11:32. > :11:54.Insurer needs of those big serves no. Murray is calmness personified.
:11:55. > :12:04.That is better from Raonic. Or from Kyrgios. I was looking at you as I
:12:05. > :12:13.said that. He figured out a way back. It certainly does not look
:12:14. > :12:19.likely for Kyrgios. It does not look like he's going to make it to seven
:12:20. > :12:24.o'clock right now. The first time Andy Murray has let out a shriek.
:12:25. > :12:32.And that was that. Murray's eighth ace of the match clinched victory
:12:33. > :12:35.and earned him a place in the quarterfinals for a ninth year in a
:12:36. > :12:40.row and also gave him his 50th win at Wimbledon. Was that much more
:12:41. > :12:45.comfortable than you imagined two the second set was. The first set
:12:46. > :12:52.was very tight. I managed to get the break at 6-5, but it was a very
:12:53. > :12:55.tight up to that point. The second set was more comfortable. Nick lost
:12:56. > :13:00.focus in the middle part of that said, which made it more easy. But
:13:01. > :13:04.the third set, again he served a high percentage. I was able to get
:13:05. > :13:08.the ball back in play, and I was able to dictate a lot of the rallies
:13:09. > :13:13.and get an early break, which was big. I was really comfortable out
:13:14. > :13:16.there in the first set and I thought I was playing some good tennis. I
:13:17. > :13:21.believed I could win the match and then as soon as I lost the first
:13:22. > :13:26.set, I lost belief. I was a little soft, still. When things get tough,
:13:27. > :13:30.I am soft. I have got the experience but ultimately it comes down to
:13:31. > :13:38.laying it out there and competing. And they did not do that today at
:13:39. > :13:42.all. He spent longer with you at the net at the end of the match then he
:13:43. > :13:47.would normally, do you think? He said sorry and I said, OK. Just win
:13:48. > :13:52.the tournament, please. And then we hugged. Nick Kyrgios being pretty
:13:53. > :13:57.brutal in his own self-assessment. A lot of people disappointed with his
:13:58. > :14:01.performance, but let's talk about Andy Murray and the way that he
:14:02. > :14:08.played and the match plan he had and how he executed it. Well, I think he
:14:09. > :14:11.is extremely well-prepared and he is playing better than anyone in a
:14:12. > :14:14.tournament right now. He knows that Kyrgios is a bit soft and to some
:14:15. > :14:20.extent we did not seek another that today, but make no mistake, Murray's
:14:21. > :14:24.movement is very intimidating. He played at a higher level. The first
:14:25. > :14:28.set was close but you have to anticipate that if you are playing a
:14:29. > :14:33.guy that good. When things get tight, he will step up, like Murray
:14:34. > :14:38.did. Is anticipation has always been good. He finds the angle is very
:14:39. > :14:43.good. -- he finds the angles beautifully. Of course it does but
:14:44. > :14:47.Kyrgios did not do enough with balls where he needed to do damage. Murray
:14:48. > :14:52.just toyed with him with the drop shots. Nick Kyrgios acted like he
:14:53. > :14:55.thought that Murray had never hit a drop shot before. That was
:14:56. > :15:00.absolutely the right play because Kyrgios back that a little bit.
:15:01. > :15:04.Murray played well. Disappointment big-time, as a fan of tennis and as
:15:05. > :15:10.a player, as someone who hopes to find Kyrgios coming into his own.
:15:11. > :15:17.This bit of analysis, Tracy, you will find fascinating. It is the
:15:18. > :15:23.Hawk-Eye Read on where Murray was hitting his shot during a rally. So
:15:24. > :15:30.much variety. He has the slices, the change of pace, the depth. As John
:15:31. > :15:35.said, he uses so many drop shots, to draw Nick Kyrgios in, but not on his
:15:36. > :15:39.own terms. Nick got very frustrated today, and at least he called
:15:40. > :15:45.himself on it, but at this stage of Wimbledon, you cannot just go away.
:15:46. > :15:49.You have to dig a little deeper. He has so much talent, the talent is
:15:50. > :15:53.obvious, and almost every player in this tournament would love to have
:15:54. > :15:58.as much talent as he does. I wonder how much passion he has for the
:15:59. > :16:05.game. Is he afraid to put it on the line? It did not look like it hurt
:16:06. > :16:09.him. I don't know about you but when we lost, it hurts for days and it
:16:10. > :16:14.does not look like it bothered him that much. You are hitting the nail
:16:15. > :16:17.on the head. It has a feel of failure but his way of dealing with
:16:18. > :16:24.that, for example, how many players go out there to prepare for a round
:16:25. > :16:28.of 16 match of Wimbledon and watch Lleyton Hewitt play doubles? Is that
:16:29. > :16:33.any type of preparation? Or to play video games, like he said in the
:16:34. > :16:37.press conference. Are you kidding? He even called himself pathetic in
:16:38. > :16:43.the second and third sets. And it is almost upset, -- upsetting for you
:16:44. > :16:47.because you know how good he could be. And more importantly, the only
:16:48. > :16:51.time I really get down on players when I do commentary is when I see
:16:52. > :16:57.them throw the towel. Is Wimbledon. I mean how much of a better chance
:16:58. > :17:00.do you have to play a match and step up and get respect? That is where
:17:01. > :17:07.people are just befuddled. Why is he doing this? And we expected a tight
:17:08. > :17:10.match. If it was not going to be a tight match, at least put in the
:17:11. > :17:15.best effort. Discipline is what he needs to find. We have spoken about
:17:16. > :17:18.his maturity because he has had some incidents, but he needs to look
:17:19. > :17:28.across the net and look at Andy Murray. Andy Murray crosses his teas
:17:29. > :17:35.and dots his 'i's, Raonic, your guy, he has added a third coach to add
:17:36. > :17:39.another level. Nick needs to do that. I don't think he has a coach.
:17:40. > :17:42.Lleyton Hewitt part-time but not a real coach. There are plenty of
:17:43. > :17:46.people lined up to do it but obviously Nick needs to find himself
:17:47. > :17:50.and look in the mirror, and look at players like Andy Murray. Let's move
:17:51. > :17:55.to a player who never lacks motivation. Yesterday she registered
:17:56. > :17:59.her 300 Grand Slam win and she is also celebrating a 300 week at
:18:00. > :18:03.number one this week, not consecutively but overrule. Serena
:18:04. > :18:09.Williams today faces an opponent she knows very well, Svetlana
:18:10. > :18:14.Kuznetsova. We have seen two sides of Serena Williams this tournament.
:18:15. > :18:20.The tense, anxious, unstable, angry Serena, taken to 3 cents last Friday
:18:21. > :18:25.by Christina McHale. And the cool, collected, convincing Serena, who
:18:26. > :18:29.dismissed Annika Beck yesterday. Which side of Serena would turn up
:18:30. > :18:33.against Svetlana Kuznetsova? The Russian is one of very few people to
:18:34. > :18:36.have beaten her three times. She is a two-time Grand Slam champion and
:18:37. > :18:44.would not be overawed by the setting. Or the status of her
:18:45. > :18:53.opponent. It was a very close and competitive first set of tennis. The
:18:54. > :18:56.players exchanged breaks of serve. Kuznetsova never let her head get
:18:57. > :19:02.down even though she had gone down early. And both of them, the timing
:19:03. > :19:07.was pretty good with good movement as well. They have played 12 times
:19:08. > :19:12.with nine wins for Williams and 34 Kuznetsova. This was always going to
:19:13. > :19:15.be a good match. We join it at four games all in the first set.
:19:16. > :19:30.Commentary from Sam Smith and Lindsey Davenport.
:19:31. > :19:55.That last forehand, 83 miles an hour. Talk about an average.
:19:56. > :20:03.Again, the second serve, an important part of Serena's game.
:20:04. > :20:25.Kuznetsova is able to put some pressure on Serena with that return.
:20:26. > :20:30.Kuznetsova had a forehand early on that rally where she had some time
:20:31. > :20:34.but she was passive on it and Serena was able to take control of the
:20:35. > :20:41.rally. On this surface, if you get a shot and you have time against
:20:42. > :20:50.Serena, you have got to play some offence against her.
:20:51. > :20:53.Kuznetsova does have the ability to put Serena in some awkward places on
:20:54. > :21:20.the court. It's long. And Williams is just
:21:21. > :21:57.starting to fret. Oh dear. Kuznetsova breaks in
:21:58. > :22:01.strange circumstances. The rain is coming down. And it will be the
:22:02. > :22:03.Russian who will serve for this first set. But what drama on Centre
:22:04. > :22:16.Court. Aware of a -- be wary of a fired up
:22:17. > :22:51.Serena. The variety of Kuznetsova has thrown
:22:52. > :22:57.Williams off her game. Low slices, eyeballs, and she has her rhythm. --
:22:58. > :23:46.high balls. Another double fault. Serving on
:23:47. > :23:50.grass against one of the greatest of all times, you have to believe. You
:23:51. > :23:54.have got to go for your shots. Kuznetsova does not believe right
:23:55. > :24:14.now. Playing a little too passively, trying to close out this first set.
:24:15. > :24:23.All square on centre. Serena responding to her serve being
:24:24. > :24:27.broken by breaking back straightaway. Here she is in
:24:28. > :24:30.conversation with the umpire. The tournament referee came out and
:24:31. > :24:39.eventually the players went off. The roof was closed. And we join it as
:24:40. > :24:43.the match resumed. Serena went on to take that first set 7-5. Let's join
:24:44. > :25:01.it with Kuznetsova serving at the start of the second.
:25:02. > :25:36.I feel like the power of the Serena game, whether it is the server or
:25:37. > :25:41.the ground strokes, is too tough to defend against in this indoor court.
:25:42. > :25:43.It plays fast because of the grass. It is even more perfect for a big
:25:44. > :26:01.hitter in these types of conditions. Roger Federer loves it. And so does
:26:02. > :26:06.Serena, when the roof is closed. It is really different. The air is
:26:07. > :26:09.thick, and more humid, and you are able to hit the ball so cleanly. It
:26:10. > :26:31.just sounds different. Everything is getting away from
:26:32. > :27:30.Kuznetsova now. It is all going away from the
:27:31. > :27:37.Russian now. Sam Smith predicted it and she was right. It was one way
:27:38. > :27:40.traffic. When the roof closed, Serena became so much more
:27:41. > :27:49.comfortable and stable. And Kuznetsova could not win another
:27:50. > :28:01.game. Serena with three match points on the Kuznetsova serve. Takes it
:28:02. > :28:04.straightaway. The score, 7-5, 6-0, and she spoke afterwards about the
:28:05. > :28:13.difficulty of playing on a greasy surface.
:28:14. > :28:18.And we will hear from her in a moment. But Tracey, just a match of
:28:19. > :28:21.two completely different halves. When Serena slipped, clearly she was
:28:22. > :28:26.finding it difficult out there. The way she landed, her feet can
:28:27. > :28:32.sometimes go away from her. That is when she got broken, to go down 5-4
:28:33. > :28:35.and Svetlana were not able -- was not able to hold. Serena asked if
:28:36. > :28:40.they could go off the court. And then it was never the same match
:28:41. > :28:44.again. The first ten games, Svetlana was doing a incredible job of
:28:45. > :28:48.playing smartly, mixing it up, with slices that were deep, slices that
:28:49. > :28:54.were short, jerking Serena around, and she was not getting in a good
:28:55. > :28:59.rhythm. Kuznetsova, she has beaten Serena three times, in the Miami
:29:00. > :29:03.fourth round this year. She was not going to be overwhelmed by Serena.
:29:04. > :29:06.But once they came back, Serena never lost another game. And she
:29:07. > :29:11.looked like a completely different player. She said it was fortunate
:29:12. > :29:14.for them to go off and talk to their coaches. Fortunate for Serena
:29:15. > :29:19.because Patrick had some good ideas and she changed again and started to
:29:20. > :29:23.attack the second serve. And she was spot on, this was the best she has
:29:24. > :29:28.looked at this tournament. And it is also good to be flexible. To do the
:29:29. > :29:34.splits like that and still be able to walk?! Impressive to be flexible,
:29:35. > :29:38.and strong, a lethal combination. Kuznetsova, I like her a lot and she
:29:39. > :29:42.will be in the hollow thing but I do not think she has ever been that
:29:43. > :29:45.comfortable on this surface. She played a long, tough match against
:29:46. > :29:50.Stevens. I'm not sure how much she had left in the tank after she lost
:29:51. > :29:58.the first set. Serena, her game is so much more impactful, and you
:29:59. > :30:03.pointed out the second serve, it is pretty vulnerable. Kuznetsova and
:30:04. > :30:06.Serena start going after it. Whatever Serena does, it creates
:30:07. > :30:09.headlines and today, the story was what she said to the umpire when she
:30:10. > :30:29.wanted to come off court. Have a watch of this.
:30:30. > :30:35.You are the second player in the tournament to threaten to Sue over
:30:36. > :30:39.the rain coming down and play continuing. Do you think the
:30:40. > :30:44.tournament is taking seriously the welfare of the players when it comes
:30:45. > :30:49.to the rain and taking them off and back again? Yes, they are doing a
:30:50. > :30:55.great job with that. Threatening a lawsuit is quite an extreme measure.
:30:56. > :31:00.You guys, don't even try me like that. I was in the moment, I was on
:31:01. > :31:04.the court. And what I say on the court, whether it is smashing my
:31:05. > :31:09.racket or it is in the heat of the moment, I have no plans, no future
:31:10. > :31:12.of suing Wimbledon. Let's get serious, that is not what I do, that
:31:13. > :31:19.is not what I'm. The trouble is, that is what she
:31:20. > :31:26.said. Ascot this guy coming he has been in the moment before! At think
:31:27. > :31:30.a lot of times, I have got into with players and fans and umpires and
:31:31. > :31:35.anybody else who wanted a piece of me so I can relate to what Serena
:31:36. > :31:38.says. What happens on the pitch, in the field, on the tennis court is
:31:39. > :31:43.different from when you have a chance to count to ten and speak to
:31:44. > :31:48.family members, get some common sense, perspective. Not so heated up
:31:49. > :31:53.from the match and you start to think sensibly. It is scary when you
:31:54. > :31:58.start to fall because it doesn't take much rain. Just a little miss
:31:59. > :32:02.and it becomes very slippery. The problem now is not rain, it is
:32:03. > :32:09.light. On Court three, the people on Henman Hill watching the match. It
:32:10. > :32:13.is Jiri Vesely against Tomas Berdych for a place in the quarterfinals.
:32:14. > :32:18.Tomas Berdych has served for the match, it is match point against. He
:32:19. > :32:25.has broken the serve of Jiri Vesely and he has now got his third match
:32:26. > :32:28.point. We can stay with it. I'm not sure we are allowed to point out who
:32:29. > :32:35.the winner of this matchplay is, do we know that yet? Have we shown that
:32:36. > :32:39.yet? I don't think we have done. Don't say it, then! It is a good
:32:40. > :32:45.opportunity for the winner. Can we say who it is between? No! The
:32:46. > :32:55.suspense is building. Tomas Berdych a runner up here a couple of years
:32:56. > :32:59.ago. Jiri Vesely beat Novak Djokovic in Monte Carlo. That match is online
:33:00. > :33:02.and we will keep you up-to-date between now and the end of the
:33:03. > :33:07.programme because it may or may not finish before we go away. Without
:33:08. > :33:11.giving anything away, this was the match of the championship so far.
:33:12. > :33:17.Third seed Agnieszka Radwanska, runner up here previously, against
:33:18. > :33:22.Dominika Cibulkova who has won more matches this year than any other
:33:23. > :33:29.player, it was sensational tennis from the beginning to the end,
:33:30. > :33:37.incredible rallies. This is match point in the second set, so a lot of
:33:38. > :33:44.more match to go. Absolutely, took the first set and she had match
:33:45. > :33:51.point. Radwanska saved three match points and she forced it into a
:33:52. > :33:55.decider which was a thriller. It was Radwanska's turn to have match point
:33:56. > :33:59.and she could not convert so this is 7-7 and commentary is from James
:34:00. > :34:34.Burridge and Tracy. She has done it again! Down, but not
:34:35. > :34:37.out yet! Just improvises so well. Whatever she needs to do to get that
:34:38. > :35:08.ball back in play. Flexibility. Just got so low. Even Agnieszka
:35:09. > :35:46.Radwanska could not scoop that one back.
:35:47. > :35:54.She did not really need to go for that shot. I wonder if the teat is
:35:55. > :36:01.setting in for both players. These are sprints, two hours and 49
:36:02. > :36:07.minutes. Cibulkova not bouncing around quite as much as she was.
:36:08. > :36:19.Just incessant jumping. There it goes!
:36:20. > :36:33.What a time for a double. Her second of the match. The forearm is
:36:34. > :36:34.tightening. Her mind is going crazy. What is it like for the coaches
:36:35. > :37:03.watching? Yes! The perfect point from
:37:04. > :37:12.Cibulkova, always looking for the forehand. Dictating from the inside,
:37:13. > :37:19.out. Fantastic for work. Another break point. -- footwork. She has
:37:20. > :37:35.had so many over the course of this match. Agnieszka Radwanska, once
:37:36. > :37:39.again, that first serve. Variety in this lady's game, look at the break
:37:40. > :37:52.point is saved. 15 break point is saved. 21 altogether, Radwanska has
:37:53. > :38:00.faced. But one more on the list. The return serve. Rifled right back down
:38:01. > :38:26.at her feet. Like she is gasping for air here, Cibulkova.
:38:27. > :38:39.She is getting there! What fabulous, fabulous light from these two
:38:40. > :38:44.players. CLARE BALDING: Cibulkova served for
:38:45. > :38:48.the match for the third time for a place in the quarterfinals for the
:38:49. > :38:55.third time in her career but this was a battle royale in this rally.
:38:56. > :38:59.Tracy, you must have been gasping. It is absolutely incredible rallies
:39:00. > :39:03.they had because neither has a knockout punch with the burden --
:39:04. > :39:08.with the big serve so they both have to work it. Cibulkova went for
:39:09. > :39:14.bigger winners and it was Radwanska with her craftiness and different
:39:15. > :39:22.types of spin. And watch this! That is ready good for a girl that is
:39:23. > :39:28.five at one! Five foot three! They had play for two hours 54 minutes
:39:29. > :39:32.when that rally happens. She gets warned here about taking too much
:39:33. > :39:36.time. She got a warning in the beginning of the first set and two
:39:37. > :39:42.other times got her first serve taken away for taking too much time.
:39:43. > :39:48.But finally, after three hours exactly, Cibulkova closed it out and
:39:49. > :39:54.her fiance giving her a hug. 9-7 in the third. And the third seed
:39:55. > :39:58.Agnieszka Radwanska is out. It is getting very tough. Especially
:39:59. > :40:04.physically for me because to get in the second week of a Grand Slam is
:40:05. > :40:09.always very tough physically and mentally. And today, I just felt
:40:10. > :40:13.that I was physically going really for my 100% and I felt like I could
:40:14. > :40:19.not give more on the court. So today, I think eating through was a
:40:20. > :40:21.great game and just my fighting experience because without that, I
:40:22. > :40:31.would not win today. -- getting She is a lesson of never giving up,
:40:32. > :40:35.she is sensational. She is and that is my match of the tournament so
:40:36. > :40:40.far. Her 56th winner, brave when she needed to be. She is getting married
:40:41. > :40:43.on Saturday, she might have to change our plans. You saw him with
:40:44. > :40:47.the beard, he was courtside for some of the match and he went back to the
:40:48. > :40:52.stands. He was afraid to look! How could they set the wedding. Today?
:40:53. > :40:57.She did not think she played well on grass but she was the winner in
:40:58. > :41:00.Eastbourne and is on a nine match winning streak on grass and if she
:41:01. > :41:04.wins tomorrow, she will postpone the wedding day. I'm sure that will cost
:41:05. > :41:11.money but if she gets to the final, she will have a lot of money to do
:41:12. > :41:18.that. I think the person to call Nick Kyrgios is Dominika Cibulkova
:41:19. > :41:22.as far as competing 100%. It was wonderful and you watch these
:41:23. > :41:27.rallies again and again and the shotmaking within them, they don't
:41:28. > :41:30.just bludgeon the ball, it is their athleticism and energy and fitness
:41:31. > :41:36.and thinking under pressure. Yes, I always say Radwanska has the highest
:41:37. > :41:40.tennis IQ in women's tennis because she doesn't have the ability to win
:41:41. > :41:46.it with one big shot, she has to out manoeuvre her opponent with angles
:41:47. > :41:50.and slices. She comes forward. She has come forward over 100 times in
:41:51. > :41:52.this tournament so far, Radwanska. I'm amazed how offensive Cibulkova
:41:53. > :42:03.is at five but one! -- five foot one. This was three
:42:04. > :42:06.hours and the crowd was so appreciative. It is not a ticketed
:42:07. > :42:10.match so anybody coming in, they chose the right match! Court three
:42:11. > :42:16.got the best of the day because they still have a match, Tomas Berdych
:42:17. > :42:22.against Jiri Vesely which has gone to a fourth set tie-break. Berdych
:42:23. > :42:28.had three break points, he could not win at 0-40 and is 2-1 up. If this
:42:29. > :42:35.goes the way of Jiri Vesely, it goes to a decider. Jiri Vesely had a
:42:36. > :42:43.bunch of set point so this has been a seesaw battle. Berdych has been
:42:44. > :42:46.complaining about the light. Understandably, it is late, but that
:42:47. > :42:54.is stress. These guys, they are not finished yet. One match that has
:42:55. > :43:00.stopped at 13-13 in third set is the doubles match featuring Jamie Murray
:43:01. > :43:07.and Bruno Soares against Mate Pavic and Venus. 13-13 and going to the
:43:08. > :43:13.best of five. Why have they stopped and Vesely and two -- and Tomas
:43:14. > :43:20.Berdych are still playing? They could stop it now. That is not a
:43:21. > :43:27.very good idea at all! Berdych was down three -- zero and 5-1. It could
:43:28. > :43:34.have been 6-3 so it is amazing he is still in this. People but does
:43:35. > :43:38.people have been going crazy and I have a hard time not looking
:43:39. > :43:43.grounds. We will give you news of the other women through to the
:43:44. > :43:49.quarterfinals. We could two opens with a relentless
:43:50. > :43:54.rhythm. Wimbledon's pulse quickened and the pressure surges. Smyrna
:43:55. > :43:59.Halep beat Madison Keys. Simona Halep had control and she served to
:44:00. > :44:05.win it but the chance sailed away from her.
:44:06. > :44:09.It is in! In the tie-break, it was seized by Madison Keys. The heat was
:44:10. > :44:12.on Simona Halep but this was a counterpunch and she took it on the
:44:13. > :44:17.chin and she hit back. The match level, it was on the third and in
:44:18. > :44:24.the intensity, Madison Keys buckled and Halep pounced on her weakness.
:44:25. > :44:29.But in the quarterfinals, there is Angelique Kerber. The Australian
:44:30. > :44:34.Open winner this year and the fourth seed, quietly and methodically, she
:44:35. > :44:40.set about this game. Against Misaki Doi. And nobody ranked higher than
:44:41. > :44:45.in the week her best and between her and the final.
:44:46. > :44:51.Ekaterina Makarova knew her fourth round opponent Elena Vesnina well,
:44:52. > :44:53.they are doubles opponent is. Ekaterina Makarova use the
:44:54. > :44:58.familiarity to her advantage in the first set but it went wrong for the
:44:59. > :45:05.world number 35. Elena Vesnina struck back in the second. Makarova
:45:06. > :45:11.input out Petra Witte was missing. -- Petra Witte by. One she had
:45:12. > :45:17.reached her first Wimbledon quarterfinal, they could be friends
:45:18. > :45:22.again. Underestimate Yaroslava Shvedova at your peril, she had
:45:23. > :45:26.beaten her opponent three times before this and she knew where to
:45:27. > :45:32.put it. Number 28 seed is out, everything is right in the world of
:45:33. > :45:37.Yaroslava Shvedova. A quarter of the last 16 women were from the USA,
:45:38. > :45:41.American pride on Independence Day. This player was running through
:45:42. > :45:46.brackets and Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova was getting through
:45:47. > :45:52.games -- rackets. She has just given her racket to a child on the front
:45:53. > :46:00.row! But the Coco Vandeweghe extended to the match. He wanted to
:46:01. > :46:04.salute an American institution and Court Number One was the place to be
:46:05. > :46:09.to see Venus Williams. Into your 19th, at Juhasz seen it all. Being
:46:10. > :46:12.down to Carla Suarez Navarro did not trouble her and she used her craft
:46:13. > :46:17.and guile to negotiate the first set to a tie-break. The Spanish woman's
:46:18. > :46:23.challenge ended there and Venus has an aura that can make recovery seem
:46:24. > :46:28.impossible. At 36, she is still competitive.
:46:29. > :46:34.She is the oldest player since Martina Navratilova in 1984 and she
:46:35. > :46:38.reached the final that year. 1994, she lost the Conchita Martinez. So
:46:39. > :46:42.it is not impossible Venus could reach the final. If you look at the
:46:43. > :46:47.quarterfinal draw, Serena Williams and Venus indifferent parts of the
:46:48. > :46:53.draw and the could face each other in the final as they had before. The
:46:54. > :46:56.reach of Venus is incredible. It is and she loves to play on the
:46:57. > :47:01.surface, winning here five times before. Back into the top ten. And
:47:02. > :47:05.she has played well and built her way through the tournament and had a
:47:06. > :47:09.couple of 3-set matches and the rain delays have got her. Remember, she
:47:10. > :47:13.was up when the rain came in her former game and that was exhausting
:47:14. > :47:18.hanging around. She has played doubles with Serena and they are
:47:19. > :47:23.playing in Rio so they want to get some matches under their belt. Look
:47:24. > :47:29.at Venus, she is in the bottom half of the draw. Can I say so now? Yes,
:47:30. > :47:35.we have seen all the women's matches and we can show you the quarterfinal
:47:36. > :47:38.draw. This is at good opportunity. Simona Halep has been in the
:47:39. > :47:44.quarterfinals and Angelique Kerber. And that is able very winnable match
:47:45. > :47:51.against Yaroslava Shvedova. She is the only one who has not dropped a
:47:52. > :47:55.set, she is playing well. Angelique Kerber will be the favourite against
:47:56. > :47:58.Venus even though she has won this five times at this stage of their
:47:59. > :48:05.careers. Simona Halep is playing the best she has played all year and
:48:06. > :48:10.Kerber was the winner of the Australian but as Venus, as long as
:48:11. > :48:14.she plays Wimbledon, she will not get a better chance to get to a
:48:15. > :48:17.final. And she absolutely is thinking of doing that, and they
:48:18. > :48:21.will be thrilled to be in different halves of the draw. I can't believe
:48:22. > :48:26.they are still playing on Court number three in the fourth set
:48:27. > :48:32.tie-break. Can I have an update? 9-9 in the tie-break right now. His head
:48:33. > :48:37.was turned the entire time! They are stuck and they have the finish which
:48:38. > :48:42.is sad because it is dark now. Not as dark as it was in the Rafael
:48:43. > :48:50.Nadal and Federer final. Not so sure, it is close. It is overcast.
:48:51. > :48:54.This is Craig Lee just crazy, there have been numerous set points and
:48:55. > :48:58.break points. One of these guys is going to be mighty upset -- this is
:48:59. > :49:03.crazy. If Tomas Berdych wins at committee wins the match. Serena is
:49:04. > :49:07.trying to match a record of Steffi Graf and Roger Federer is trying to
:49:08. > :49:11.set one of his own because if he wins Wimbledon for an eighth time,
:49:12. > :49:15.he has the outright record. John, you were watching him in action
:49:16. > :49:19.today. He was up against a big server with a big forehand, Steve
:49:20. > :49:26.Johnson. How did you think Federer looked? Better than he has looked
:49:27. > :49:31.the entire year. Steve Johnson has never been in a round of 16 of any
:49:32. > :49:35.Grand Slam. He was a bit overwhelmed and Roger was sharp and moving
:49:36. > :49:41.forward nicely. That was one of the shots of the day. He meant to do
:49:42. > :49:46.that. He was never really stretched. He has never been pressured so far
:49:47. > :49:54.in this tournament. So guess what? A lot left in the tank. In the last
:49:55. > :50:01.three rounds. Novak Djokovic losing, Federer's eyes have lit up white
:50:02. > :50:03.now. Because I have to tell you something, Novak Djokovic stopped
:50:04. > :50:07.him winning Grand Slams and now he thinks he doesn't have to deal with
:50:08. > :50:13.this guy. He was the winner in the end. Finished it with an ace and
:50:14. > :50:17.with that win, he equalled the record of Martina Navratilova of 306
:50:18. > :50:23.Grand Slam wins. The update from court three is that Jiri Vesely has
:50:24. > :50:29.won the tie-break so he will take it into a deciding set. This is the end
:50:30. > :50:33.of the tie-break. Will they play the best? Funnily enough, no, they are
:50:34. > :50:39.not! They will return tomorrow. That match will be added to the order of
:50:40. > :50:44.play. Unless there is heavy rain. Tomas Berdych is asking, why can we
:50:45. > :50:50.not play on centre? That would be a fair solution. He is going to ask.
:50:51. > :50:53.That is a good question. That is what the roof is for and it would be
:50:54. > :50:59.cool because the winner could then rest for tomorrow. While they are
:51:00. > :51:03.one, they might as well finish. I agree, it would be fantastic to play
:51:04. > :51:07.the third set. I have never seen Jiri Vesely more emotional and using
:51:08. > :51:12.the crowd to help. He is tricky on the grass. Berdych blew a lot of
:51:13. > :51:16.chances so he will be an angry man if this goes overnight. I wonder if
:51:17. > :51:22.they have got covers on Centre Court yet. I'm sure they can remove them.
:51:23. > :51:28.Yes, we will find a way to do that. They can play until half past ten.
:51:29. > :51:33.11 o'clock, I think. News on the other men in action today, this is
:51:34. > :51:39.Paddy. Sam Querrey, the American boy who
:51:40. > :51:46.brought down the King. How do you follow beating Novak Djokovic? By
:51:47. > :51:51.taking on Nicolas Mahut in the fourth round. Some might be lost in
:51:52. > :51:59.the euphoria, not quarry. He was measured, superbly so. It clips the
:52:00. > :52:04.line. It is like a bowling shot. Straight sets, his Wimbledon is
:52:05. > :52:07.about more than one match. Marin Cilic and Kei Nishikori have
:52:08. > :52:13.history, not good for the Japanese man. Marin Cilic won the 2014 US
:52:14. > :52:17.Open final in straight sets and took the first-tier little more than
:52:18. > :52:21.quarter of an hour. What a point! Kei Nishikori was not right, injury
:52:22. > :52:26.disrupted his preparations for the tournament. The second set was not
:52:27. > :52:34.over when the fifth seed's Wimbledon ended in agony. Two Frenchmen who go
:52:35. > :52:38.back a long way that on Court One. Richard Gasquet and Jo-Wilfried
:52:39. > :52:45.Tsonga play together as children and this was a brief catch-up. Gasquet's
:52:46. > :52:49.back gave way in the first set. Much over, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga knew what
:52:50. > :52:53.Gasquet was going through and he offered to share the burden.
:52:54. > :52:57.Bernhard Tomic show last made the quarterfinals five years ago but
:52:58. > :53:03.after wheezing the first set the Lucas Pouille, he seemed back on
:53:04. > :53:08.course. -- losing. He is something special. Leading 2-1 against a man
:53:09. > :53:14.who only won his taller match on grass lust week for the first time.
:53:15. > :53:17.Fought back to win in five for the first time -- tour match. Hopefully
:53:18. > :53:23.be all Asian trumps the exhaustion will stop it is easy to be daunted
:53:24. > :53:28.by playing big Milos Raonic and David Goffin did not seem bothered,
:53:29. > :53:36.storming to the first two sets of their match. Raonic is known for the
:53:37. > :53:40.thumping serves and beaming baselines and he can change the
:53:41. > :53:45.rhythm. And play the game in a minor key, winning the third and fourth
:53:46. > :53:50.sets. Maybe it is the John McEnroe influence because Raonic is growing
:53:51. > :53:54.on grass. He got a scare but he survived and thrived. After losing
:53:55. > :53:57.the final at Queen's, he has spoken of wanting a rematch with Andy
:53:58. > :54:02.Murray. Could that happen on Centre Court on Sunday?
:54:03. > :54:05.You could not stay to watch the entire match because you had to
:54:06. > :54:08.commentate on Andy Murray, which must have been interesting as you
:54:09. > :54:13.were following the score and saw he had gone two sets down. Murray and
:54:14. > :54:17.Nick Kyrgios was the most interesting match on paper but I
:54:18. > :54:23.must admit I was glancing at the monitor to see Raonic and I'm proud
:54:24. > :54:28.of him. David Goffin was in playing -- was playing incredible tennis and
:54:29. > :54:35.out hitting Raonic which was unexpected. Milos started to play
:54:36. > :54:39.the match on his terms and take it to David Goffin and get his match
:54:40. > :54:44.together. This is big because he has never come back from two sets down.
:54:45. > :54:50.That is H Mendis shot and big moment and he hit big backhand shot. That
:54:51. > :54:57.was the minute -- that was to win the match and that was the key. Come
:54:58. > :55:02.on, Milos, be happy. You did it, you are in the quarterfinals. That was a
:55:03. > :55:05.tough customer he played in David Goffin. Have you told him yet you
:55:06. > :55:10.are really proud of him? I have told him and hopefully he has more to go.
:55:11. > :55:15.I'm proud of Sam Querrey that he has turned his career around. Opening
:55:16. > :55:21.the door for other players including himself was top but Raonic and Sam
:55:22. > :55:25.Querrey in the quarterfinals. So often, you see a player pulling off
:55:26. > :55:30.a big upset and losing the next game. But he did not. Just a word on
:55:31. > :55:36.the two withdrawals from injury, Richard Gasquet and Kei Nishikori,
:55:37. > :55:40.such a shame. Kei Nishikori had a rib injury a couple of weeks ago and
:55:41. > :55:46.he thought it was better and it came up again. Richard Gasquet was a bad
:55:47. > :55:58.back. He has had a history of a bad back. Jo-Wilfried Tsonga played
:55:59. > :56:01.19-17 in the fifth. Maybe you could take some pain medication or
:56:02. > :56:06.something. It is over now and he can't go back to it! This is the
:56:07. > :56:14.draw. Next up for Sam Querrey, it is John's man, Milos Raonic. The match
:56:15. > :56:17.to be finished, Tomas Berdych against Jiri Vesely and confirmation
:56:18. > :56:23.that will not be completed on Centre Court, they will pick up tomorrow.
:56:24. > :56:26.Lucas Pouille goes through and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga against Andy
:56:27. > :56:32.Murray, what are your thoughts? It is a the Mendis opportunity for Sam
