:01:09. > :01:16.Also the battle of the unknowns. Gilles Muller. He never knows when
:01:17. > :01:25.he is beaten. The Croatian sensation. Marin Cilic,
:01:26. > :01:30.underestimate him at your peril. Behold the Birdman, Tomas Berdych,
:01:31. > :01:37.with his killer forehand, watching fly. But can he defeat the Man of
:01:38. > :01:44.Steel who has come back for what was once his? And of course, Milos
:01:45. > :01:51.Raonic. He has deadly power. But you cannot rule out his opponent, Mr
:01:52. > :01:57.universe, he seems to have been here since time began. Take a seat from a
:01:58. > :01:59.safe distance and enjoy the league of extraordinary gentlemen as they
:02:00. > :02:05.all battle for supremacy. Gorgeous evening here and another
:02:06. > :02:08.bumper day of tennis. The last eight men remaining,
:02:09. > :02:11.including seven times champion, Roger Federer, three times champion,
:02:12. > :02:27.Novak Djokovic, and two time Plenty to discuss and digest. In the
:02:28. > :02:33.company of Boris Becker and John McEnroe, good evening. Good evening
:02:34. > :02:38.to you. I am looking forward to discussing these matches. We are
:02:39. > :02:39.going to. You will be making headlines again!
:02:40. > :02:42.And we kick off with the world number one and home hope
:02:43. > :02:47.The defending champion took to Centre Court first up today
:02:48. > :02:51.against the big hitting Californian Sam Querrey.
:02:52. > :02:54.They've met eight times before and Murray has won seven of them.
:02:55. > :02:57.Querrey was trying to reach the semi-finals for the first time
:02:58. > :03:04.Andy came out firing, held his serve to love and we join
:03:05. > :03:07.the match in the second game, with Querrey serving.
:03:08. > :03:28.Commentary from Andrew Castle and John McEnroe.
:03:29. > :03:39.Dodgy start, so far, although Murray has not lost to an American since
:03:40. > :03:40.2011! That is not a good statistic! I am sure Craig did not tell Sam
:03:41. > :04:08.that! His only loss to Americans at these
:04:09. > :04:17.Grand Slam events, four of them each year, 2009, Wimbledon, Andy Roddick
:04:18. > :04:20.in the semifinal. Right now, the nerves have got in the way of Sam
:04:21. > :04:26.Querrey's ability to play his game and guess who is going to take
:04:27. > :04:32.advantage! The defending champion a number one seed. Seven straight
:04:33. > :04:40.points. To open the matchup for Andy Murray.
:04:41. > :04:54.The 100th ace. If he can sneak out of this game, he will settle.
:04:55. > :04:58.And that is a hungry performance from Murray. Whilst it was nervous
:04:59. > :05:02.from Querrey. 20 minutes later, Murray was serving
:05:03. > :05:06.for the first set and he duly Murray hit only two unforced errors
:05:07. > :05:14.in that first set and won 78% Let's pick it up with the scores
:05:15. > :05:41.level in the middle Yes! You just cannot come in on his
:05:42. > :05:46.backhand and ever he is in this mood. The first one was crosscourt,
:05:47. > :05:52.the second one was like a laser, down the line. Sam was pretty far
:05:53. > :05:58.back when he chose to come in. He can never get himself comfortable,
:05:59. > :06:11.in a good position. Excellent player and suddenly, 0-40, second serve.
:06:12. > :06:15.Murray thought that serve was out. He will not challenge and stop the
:06:16. > :06:37.point. We will look at the replay to see if
:06:38. > :06:44.that serve was in that Murray was in? It may not matter. Still break
:06:45. > :06:47.point. That was tougher, the lowest, hardest part of the net. Just three
:06:48. > :07:21.foot high. And clinching the top. Tight. Self-flagellation on Centre
:07:22. > :07:25.Court! Here is the serve. 0-40. It looked like it did catch some line
:07:26. > :07:34.in the middle. You could have an argument with that! I could argue
:07:35. > :07:42.with hello! This'll be the getaway, he will steal this game, Querrey, if
:07:43. > :07:52.he can get out of this. He is still grumbling about that 0-40 Coll.
:07:53. > :08:05.That is a beautiful shot! You love that! Such great hands and feel.
:08:06. > :08:07.Court since he gets set down, Querrey is forced to come up with
:08:08. > :08:17.something unusual, improvisation. Whatever it was, it was a thing of
:08:18. > :08:45.beauty to see. He is back, break point. The serve
:08:46. > :08:48.at 0-40 was out. It was bad? OK. The first of this sequence of break
:08:49. > :08:51.points. He is hoping it does not matter. This is his fourth
:08:52. > :09:30.opportunity. I don't think Sam understood how
:09:31. > :09:32.important it was at 0-40 to come back, if he could have won that
:09:33. > :10:32.game... That is the best backhand, so far.
:10:33. > :10:37.You better step things up, if you are Querrey. You have to find that
:10:38. > :11:25.here and that will. That fight. Murray showing the first signs of
:11:26. > :11:26.some tightness. Trying to put this big man away and take a really huge
:11:27. > :12:09.lead. Yes! Coming in with power, this
:12:10. > :12:11.time. Andy Murray beating himself up in the missed opportunity.
:12:12. > :12:13.Querrey's movement was starting to improve, his serve
:12:14. > :12:16.He held the next game and then put Murray under pressure
:12:17. > :12:21.Querrey was too good and took the second to level things up
:12:22. > :12:25.And Murray clearly frustrated to have handed back the initiative.
:12:26. > :12:29.Murray broke in the opening game and maintained that advantage
:12:30. > :12:43.to come out and serve for the set at 5-4.
:12:44. > :12:53.That is what you can do to an 84 man spill our second serve, Querrey
:12:54. > :13:16.forcing himself forward. Mis-hit. Slightly. -- 84 mph.
:13:17. > :13:39.Was that the sun coming out, just at that moment?
:13:40. > :13:57.Boy oh boy. History repeating itself, from the second set,
:13:58. > :14:00.although he did not serve from that. The sun isn't a terrible position
:14:01. > :14:03.for the ball toss. He will have adjust that. Probably further over
:14:04. > :14:41.to the left-hand side. It is a challenge but I am not sure
:14:42. > :14:45.Murray is convinced it will be successful. Unbelievable that
:14:46. > :14:46.Querrey has done it again. And in exactly the same way, with that
:14:47. > :14:51.driving backhand. So a break back for Querrey
:14:52. > :15:25.and Murray was in a dogfight. He did not let that one bounce. It
:15:26. > :15:31.has got to increase the speed that it is coming out from that high up.
:15:32. > :17:09.That takes it out of the equation, but too late.
:17:10. > :17:20.Well, this is a terrible tie-break, so far, for Sam Querrey. It started
:17:21. > :17:27.with that return. The second serve, it has gone from bad to worse.
:17:28. > :17:35.Unfortunate for Querrey, as hard as he has worked to get back into the
:17:36. > :17:42.set, what an opportunity? Murray is hobbling, there is no question he is
:17:43. > :17:43.100%. He is running well. We will see if that affects his serve at
:17:44. > :18:39.all. I don't think so. It is a challenge. We have been told
:18:40. > :18:51.again and again that Andy Murray is fine. That he has always walked by
:18:52. > :19:02.key is walking. But as a man with a metal hip, I can tell whenever
:19:03. > :19:10.somebody has got a hip problem. 6-2. 6-3. He needs to finish this off, he
:19:11. > :19:17.has had enough leads in this match in the second and third set. He does
:19:18. > :19:27.not want to lose this point on his serve. This is the end where the
:19:28. > :19:59.sunshine is an issue. That was a heck of a shot, Querrey
:20:00. > :20:04.returning the favour, he has seen enough of those in this match. The
:20:05. > :20:08.first serve, 97 macro is per hour, he elected to get the first one in.
:20:09. > :20:36.Will he do it this time? -- 97 mph. Yes, that was a good serve, that
:20:37. > :20:38.brings in the third set. 2-1, Andy Murray in the sunshine on Centre
:20:39. > :20:42.Court, this has not been easy. Murray was showing some
:20:43. > :20:44.discomfort in the third. But in the fourth he was really
:20:45. > :20:51.struggling to move and to serve. The speed of his first serve
:20:52. > :20:53.was 116mph on average before today but by the fourth set
:20:54. > :20:56.it was only 106mph. He's already been broken once
:20:57. > :21:13.as we rejoin it at 3-1 to Querrey. In the third round he was forced
:21:14. > :21:17.against Tsonga, he broke serve. This has been quite an eventful five
:21:18. > :21:43.matches for Sam Querrey. That is in. Taking you back to 2012,
:21:44. > :21:49.he contested the second longest match in Wimbledon history. He lost
:21:50. > :22:01.in the third round to Marin Cilic, in the fifth. He is looking to take
:22:02. > :22:03.this to the fifth and if he can get this break, that would be the
:22:04. > :22:36.odds-on probability. Sam Querrey is on it, right now.
:22:37. > :22:38.Remember, he has never been in a Grand Slam semifinal. Uncharted
:22:39. > :23:16.territory. You know, the fire is not there for
:23:17. > :23:21.Andy Murray, who so quickly well look around and talk to the box and
:23:22. > :23:27.use the energy from the crowd, and his coaches and his wife. Everybody,
:23:28. > :23:35.he will engage and he is flat as a pancake.
:23:36. > :23:39.Definitely not right. Whether it is concentration or physical, either
:23:40. > :23:45.way the combination sees him down. Querrey won 100% of first serve
:23:46. > :23:49.points in the fourth set and broke the world number one again to take
:23:50. > :23:57.it 6-1 in barely 22 minutes. The defending champion won
:23:58. > :24:02.the fourth game of the deciding set but his first serve dropped
:24:03. > :24:04.to 45% in. The American broke twice
:24:05. > :24:07.and was soon serving for the match and a place in his first
:24:08. > :24:25.Grand Slam semi-final. It is away the defending champion,
:24:26. > :24:28.the top seed, is just one point away from relinquishing the title he won
:24:29. > :24:39.last year with victory over Milos Raonic. This has been double-click.
:24:40. > :24:53.With sets four and five. -- double quick.
:24:54. > :25:39.And that is it. That this should finish on a huge Querrey ace,
:25:40. > :25:47.certainly Andy Murray is not right and we will find out more. Sam
:25:48. > :25:51.Querrey, a piece of tennis history. When did you first start to feel the
:25:52. > :25:59.pain and lack of power on your serve? I mean, look, I spoke before
:26:00. > :26:06.the tournament, my hip has been so for most of the event. Yes, it was
:26:07. > :26:09.just a little bit too sore today and in the end I was obviously
:26:10. > :26:13.struggling on the serve and when playing a man who serves huge
:26:14. > :26:19.himself and then you are not getting many free points on your own serve,
:26:20. > :26:22.it is difficult, you are not dictating many rallies and you have
:26:23. > :26:28.to do more moving and that was tough in the end. If it had not been
:26:29. > :26:32.Wimbledon, would it have been a normal tournament and you would have
:26:33. > :26:38.skipped it? If it was any Grand Slam... I gave myself a great chance
:26:39. > :26:40.to get to the semifinals, I had an opportunity to win the match in
:26:41. > :26:47.straight sets today, I was upset in the break and I did not get that.
:26:48. > :26:49.Yes, I was obviously in good enough shape to give myself a chance to go
:26:50. > :26:58.very deep in the tournament and almost managed to get through today.
:26:59. > :27:03.Any Grand Slam, I would have taken that and compared that with how I
:27:04. > :27:08.was feeling a few weeks ago before it started. I would have been out
:27:09. > :27:12.there for a Grand Slam. Clearly fighting through the pain and got
:27:13. > :27:15.worse. On reflection, is this a triumph he made it to the
:27:16. > :27:22.quarterfinals or that he did not get further? A little bit of both, he
:27:23. > :27:26.had -- he obviously was trying to manage something and we do not know
:27:27. > :27:32.how serious it is. How much time he takes off, it remains to be seen, he
:27:33. > :27:36.did a good job. Crazy matches against Dustin Brown, Fabio Fognini,
:27:37. > :27:42.Benoit Paire, things that mentally drive you crazy but physically not
:27:43. > :27:46.so much. Querrey is a man who can take the racquet out of your hands,
:27:47. > :27:52.if you are not moving well, as he clearly was not towards the end, and
:27:53. > :27:57.we were looking at the graphics, and they were showing us that he was
:27:58. > :28:01.landing on one leg, he cannot even push off, he has lost speed on his
:28:02. > :28:08.serve, that was becoming evident. Guess who picked up? Sam Querrey.
:28:09. > :28:12.Guess who it relaxed? Sam Querrey. And you must give them credit for
:28:13. > :28:17.being opportunistic. Andy Murray was keen to make the point that he wants
:28:18. > :28:22.to be back for the U.S. Open, six weeks away, is that realistic, if
:28:23. > :28:26.this is a major hip problem? He should not be playing if he moves
:28:27. > :28:30.like that, he will only have a chance if he is physically really
:28:31. > :28:37.healthy and I respect the fact that he does not take the hip problem as
:28:38. > :28:41.an alibi. He is a competitor, he is a number-1 player but he needs to be
:28:42. > :28:46.honest with himself, he needs to have different opinions. How bad is
:28:47. > :28:49.it? How long does it take for me to be healthy? How many tournaments to
:28:50. > :28:54.have to play before being in shape? That should be the main concern. It
:28:55. > :28:58.is interesting, we look at that service speed, and how that dropped,
:28:59. > :29:05.everything is affected because he push of? Of course but how much was
:29:06. > :29:09.that mental? He is up, he should have won the set and he does not,
:29:10. > :29:13.that affects you and gets into your head and that seeps down into the
:29:14. > :29:19.rest of your body. He should have served for that set and he did not.
:29:20. > :29:23.The match goes on, that was a pretty quickly paced match, it was not
:29:24. > :29:27.extremely physical. It is really tough to tell right now because I
:29:28. > :29:31.would have said that he should have won that in straight sets. Sam
:29:32. > :29:38.Querrey came out and he was extremely tight. He was not handling
:29:39. > :29:43.and he played 25 setters, his legs looked... He was struggling. He
:29:44. > :29:46.looked better in the end and at the beginning, Andy Murray looked worse
:29:47. > :29:50.at the end. It is hard to know what to make of this. Sam Querrey did
:29:51. > :29:55.pull off an amazing shots, incredible movement and hitting
:29:56. > :29:58.particularly difficult backhand smashes. Any time Murray tried to
:29:59. > :30:07.lob, he gets that easily, amazing. Querrey saw over the net an injured
:30:08. > :30:10.player and at the beginning he was playing the champion and the number
:30:11. > :30:15.one player in the world. Half way through the match he felt I have a
:30:16. > :30:18.chance at this match and that is a psychology of tennis, you only have
:30:19. > :30:22.to beat the other guy oh the net. You don't have the beat the name or
:30:23. > :30:27.the history or the record. That is amazing. This was the best point of
:30:28. > :30:29.his life right here, Sam Querrey at 4-1 to get the double break. No
:30:30. > :30:34.question about it. The greatest point he has played in his life. He
:30:35. > :30:38.knew it was over then, that is the best I have seen Sam Querrey move,
:30:39. > :30:43.we have talked long and hard for many years in America, look, Sam,
:30:44. > :30:48.you from the to show more intensity, more fire, you have fire power, you
:30:49. > :30:51.can scare people, he is one of these everyone likes the guy,
:30:52. > :30:55.happy-go-lucky, I'll take what I can, it great to be 25 in the world
:30:56. > :30:59.but maybe you could be five in the world. World. I mean I'm not saying
:31:00. > :31:06.he is going to win Grand Slams but now, all of a sudden. He has a
:31:07. > :31:11.chance. Chance. Let us talk about he would face. You might it ex it to be
:31:12. > :31:16.Rafael Nadal. Whatever the result of this match Querrey was going to be
:31:17. > :31:20.up against a big booming serve. Marin Cilic hasn't dropped a set so
:31:21. > :31:24.far and Roberto Bautista Agut felt the full force of his power. For
:31:25. > :31:29.Gilles Muller it was a late-night five set epic as he knocked out 15
:31:30. > :31:34.time Grand Slam winner Rafael Nadal, to become the first Luxembourger in
:31:35. > :31:38.a Wimbledon quarterfinal. 174 aces between them so far, but only one
:31:39. > :31:40.could come out on top. Let us look at the best of the action starting
:31:41. > :32:16.in the very first game. Nice point. Lots of support out here
:32:17. > :32:41.for Gilles Muller. Oh, yes, well played.
:32:42. > :32:54.Great hands from Cilic. Yes. Muller's first to strike.
:32:55. > :32:57.He's missed. Cilic had a bit of a shocker there.
:32:58. > :33:23.Muller the beneficiary, he leads by one set to love.
:33:24. > :33:27.This's a sensational point from Gilles Muller. Totel and absolute
:33:28. > :33:39.control. -- total.
:33:40. > :33:43.Al and absolute control. -- total.
:33:44. > :33:54.Sensational, little slice backhand winner.
:33:55. > :34:03.Muller is moving round court like a teenager.
:34:04. > :34:18.That was a decent serve but absolutely ripped away by Muller.
:34:19. > :34:26.That is fantastic from Cilic. He's coaching team on their feet.
:34:27. > :34:41.Cilic takes the second set Muller there in
:34:42. > :34:50.plenty of time, with a choice of shots to play.
:34:51. > :35:02.Oh, he's dumped it in the net and Muller is broken finally, as Cilic
:35:03. > :35:10.takes the third set. Brilliant half-volley.
:35:11. > :35:13.Absolutely brilliant. Oh! That's going to hurt. That will
:35:14. > :35:28.sting. Oh, what a shot. Great point --
:35:29. > :35:37.break point down. A rocket from Muller.
:35:38. > :35:48.Muller has the break. Muller will serve for the set.
:35:49. > :35:58.We're into a fifth. A courageous fight back from Gilles Muller.
:35:59. > :36:03.Oh, fantastic. Well the majority of crowd are here
:36:04. > :36:10.supporting Gilles Muller but they had to applaud this little bit of
:36:11. > :36:12.genius from the Croatian. Too long again. It is four love to
:36:13. > :36:40.Cilic. Another 11 stroke rally, that is
:36:41. > :36:46.still the longest number of shots in the match so far.
:36:47. > :36:53.Cilic is in the Wimbledon semifinals.
:36:54. > :36:58.I was three times getting stuck at the course and this is just amazing,
:36:59. > :37:03.I amazing achievement of course. Today was a hard fought battle,
:37:04. > :37:07.Gilles Muller played great tennis, he was serving unbelievable. I had
:37:08. > :37:12.to work hard until the end of testify third set to get a first
:37:13. > :37:16.break. It was a couple of points deciding the match and glad I pulled
:37:17. > :37:21.it. Cilic a real danger man and a bit like Querrey, he is into his
:37:22. > :37:25.first Wimbledon semifinal. At the 11th attempt. She is a Grand Slam
:37:26. > :37:30.winner. He has won one, he had match point on Roger Federer last year, so
:37:31. > :37:35.he knows he can play in this. Can I give a bit of credit to Gilles
:37:36. > :37:39.Muller. Isn't he great. He plays Nadal for five hour, you have to
:37:40. > :37:43.figure the legs are hurting at the least and he battles this guy. He
:37:44. > :37:47.was scaring Cilic out there, he had his hands full for a long time. So
:37:48. > :37:52.win that fourth set the way he did, to make it to two sets all. Very
:37:53. > :37:55.commendable. Finally the legs gave out and that is where it comes in
:37:56. > :38:03.handy when you haven't lost a set coming into a match like that. Other
:38:04. > :38:10.thing about Muller, back to Cilic, he really is, I mean for anybody he
:38:11. > :38:15.is a big, big danger to face. Before the tournament started we quickly
:38:16. > :38:19.raise the Big Four, there are a couple of other players who have
:38:20. > :38:26.consistent results year after year, Marin Cilic is one of them. We
:38:27. > :38:31.mentioned last year, he won the Queen's Club before, he is always
:38:32. > :38:34.good. It is his fourth consecutive quarterfinal, so he was always on
:38:35. > :38:38.the cards, going through the dawn without dropping a set until today,
:38:39. > :38:46.we talked about it but nobody mentioned it. Carlos Moyes said to
:38:47. > :38:51.me last year, he said I'm happy. I am saying this and it turned out to
:38:52. > :38:56.be true, we are not playing Marin Cilic, we are playing Roger Federer.
:38:57. > :39:00.Because Marin Cilic is not necessarily a great match up. That
:39:01. > :39:02.says a lot about Cilic, because I think we've seen that he this guy
:39:03. > :39:07.Federer has been able to turn things round. Talking the of which, it was
:39:08. > :39:11.Roger Federer against Marin Cilic, not Marin Cilic against Milos Raonic
:39:12. > :39:17.for the second women in a row, they met in the semifinal last year,
:39:18. > :39:21.Raonic won that, but Roger playing in his 50th Grand Slam quarterfinal,
:39:22. > :39:25.hiss 100th match here at Wimbledon. And the seven time champion has been
:39:26. > :39:34.in fabulous form, this fortnight. And that is how he started, breaking
:39:35. > :39:37.Raonic in the fifth game. We will join Petzschner and Boris Becker --
:39:38. > :39:52.Mark Petchey and Boris It's the skill to be able to land it
:39:53. > :39:55.there and it takes a lot of courage, to take it into an opponent's
:39:56. > :40:00.strength. Two set points.
:40:01. > :40:09.One needed. Fifth ace of the set.
:40:10. > :40:13.And Federer wraps it up, 6-4. That set lasted 28 minutes but ran
:40:14. > :40:19.was fining his feet and range, they held serve to take it into a third
:40:20. > :40:20.set tie-break and Raonic has the mini-break in that tie-break as we
:40:21. > :40:50.join it. It wasn't the fast first serve but
:40:51. > :41:01.the placement. That is the key here.
:41:02. > :41:08.Tough to change any sort of aquatic when you can't lay a racket on the
:41:09. > :41:19.ball, that is what Federer has done on his service games this set.
:41:20. > :41:23.It has taken less than an hour for Federer to take a two sets to love
:41:24. > :41:28.lead. As you probably noticed that wasn't a tie-break. Federer two sets
:41:29. > :41:29.to love in front. Here is the tie-break, Raonic just fractionally
:41:30. > :41:43.in front as we rejoin it. That is the first point Federer has
:41:44. > :41:49.taken and he has gone to the forehand side in the deuce, in the
:41:50. > :41:56.entire set. And he catched -- catches it absolutely flush.
:41:57. > :42:00.Can't fault Raonic there, he hit his spot. Federer way outside the
:42:01. > :42:19.doubles line. Back on serve.
:42:20. > :42:33.It is Federer that uses the body serve to great effect there.
:42:34. > :42:46.Following it up with a nice backhand drop shot.
:42:47. > :43:12.Snob everybody calm down now. -- everybody calm down now.
:43:13. > :43:26.Oh my goodness! Goodness! And the scary thing was ran was covering the
:43:27. > :43:29.line. Federer ease managed to hit round
:43:30. > :43:34.the outside of this ball and bend it.
:43:35. > :43:35.Back on to the line. UMPIRE: 5-3 Federer.
:43:36. > :43:56.Pure genius. Raonic needed to stop the rot there.
:43:57. > :44:15.Five points in a row for Federer from love three to 5-3.
:44:16. > :44:21.Michaelangelo is probably best remembered for the work he did on
:44:22. > :44:26.the sips Tyne chapel ceiling. This man's best work will probably be
:44:27. > :44:42.remembered here on the hallowed Ken the course. We witness one of the
:44:43. > :44:44.Beck forehands he has ever struck. Sistine chapel ceiling. This man's
:44:45. > :44:47.best work will probably be remembered here on the hallowed Ken
:44:48. > :44:49.the course. We witness one of the Beck forehands he has ever struck.
:44:50. > :44:58.And he is through to his 12th semifinal here at Wimbledon. He has
:44:59. > :45:05.so many records, so many numbers by his name, but thaw is the most in
:45:06. > :45:10.the open era ahead oaf Jimmy Connors now, he is virtually ahead of
:45:11. > :45:16.everybody in every category, he is simply one of the best of all time.
:45:17. > :45:19.With your usual sense of occasion your one hundredth match at
:45:20. > :45:23.Wimbledon you make it through to the semifinals again. How special was
:45:24. > :45:28.that? Very special. I thought the crowd was unbelievable. They were
:45:29. > :45:32.the best, doing the Mexican wave on Centre Court. You don't see that
:45:33. > :45:36.every match. I thought they were quite into it and the match ended in
:45:37. > :45:40.the climax of a tie-breaker where Milos Raonic had his chance, late in
:45:41. > :45:44.the third set. I had to fend them off and come up with great shots to
:45:45. > :45:48.stay in it. I was able to make the difference, so it was a good one,
:45:49. > :45:55.that the crowds were again, incredible. Federer is an odds on
:45:56. > :46:00.favourite to be what would be a record eighth title. He would
:46:01. > :46:04.rewrite the record books and become the oldest Wimbledon winner and he
:46:05. > :46:09.makes it so easy and smooth. And on and on, it is going to roll.
:46:10. > :46:13.All his achievements, I still will never get tired of watching him in
:46:14. > :46:18.full flow. He is beautiful. Nobody does. He is not only the most
:46:19. > :46:22.successful with the 18 slams, he is the most popular. Everywhere he
:46:23. > :46:28.plays he is the fan favourite. That is the amazing part. He has done so
:46:29. > :46:32.much for tennis globally John. I have met fans from Taiwan and China,
:46:33. > :46:37.all round the world. I don't think you could find a place where they
:46:38. > :46:42.don't love him. It is well deserved. It is an honour and pleasure to be
:46:43. > :46:45.able to be on the court in the commentary box watching the most
:46:46. > :46:49.magnificent and beautiful tennis player I have witnessed on the
:46:50. > :46:54.court. Milos Raonic stepped it up in the third set, he tried to make
:46:55. > :46:59.something happen. He did a lot of good things there, he started
:47:00. > :47:03.poorly. Yes, I am, I was a bit, there was a big chance for him. A
:47:04. > :47:09.repeat of last year, he should have done more. You have to take the
:47:10. > :47:14.racket somehow out of the guy's hand, you hit one, if you believe
:47:15. > :47:18.you are one of the biggest serves in tennis history you can't stay back,
:47:19. > :47:22.sorry. If you are going to stay back you have to drive this ball and go
:47:23. > :47:26.after it, he didn't do that, but in the end, it worked for Federer
:47:27. > :47:31.because he did step it up and started to become more aggressive.
:47:32. > :47:37.He served and volleyed more, the crowd got more into it and Milos
:47:38. > :47:42.Raonic was playing great tennis, he was up three one, the crowd was
:47:43. > :47:47.buzzing, Roger hits two unbelievable forehands and it is debilitating to
:47:48. > :47:53.play that. Everyone loves him and he deserves it. The other guy is like,
:47:54. > :47:58.forget, what about me, there is no chance, standing ovation and that is
:47:59. > :48:02.part of why Konta won in that tie-break yesterday. The crowd made
:48:03. > :48:06.the difference. I am not saying Milos Raonic would have won the
:48:07. > :48:13.match but he would have won that tie-breaker. The crowd Rose up and
:48:14. > :48:17.the king prevailed. And he is. All hail the king. It was sensational.
:48:18. > :48:22.He was playing Points West tennis. The final match of the day saw three
:48:23. > :48:29.time Wimbledon champion jobbing Jock in action for the second day in a
:48:30. > :48:33.row. He had a shoulder problem and a few gripes and grumbles and Paddy
:48:34. > :48:35.Gearey chars the ups and downs of his quarterfinal appearance against
:48:36. > :48:43.the former finalist Tomas Berdych. -- Novak Djokovic.
:48:44. > :48:49.Quarterfinalist not a set dropped. And yet, something's up.
:48:50. > :48:55.So what is eating Novak Djokovic? There is two points in a row. Focus.
:48:56. > :48:58.First he got stuck in a Court One queue behind Muller and Nadal. It
:48:59. > :49:02.was the wrong decision not to play us last night. He could have played.
:49:03. > :49:05.We were kept for two-and-a-half hours in the dark.
:49:06. > :49:09.Then when he got on centre the next day, there were holes in it. It is
:49:10. > :49:15.an uneven surface, the more you play on it the worse it gets. All the
:49:16. > :49:20.while, his shoulder hurt. Yet still, he win, that is the worry for Tomas
:49:21. > :49:28.Berdych, who has lost 12 in a row to him, so, to lucky 13.
:49:29. > :49:31.Berdych out first, important not to feel in his opponent's shadow so
:49:32. > :49:42.task one stay in it. Build confidence.
:49:43. > :49:55.He was settling, Djokovic was fighting a battle with his body.
:49:56. > :50:05.V well played by Berdych. No breaks so tie-break next test.
:50:06. > :50:09.Fantastic strike. That was tennis therapy for Berdych. The weight of
:50:10. > :50:15.14 straight sets lost to Djokovic about to be lifted. Nobody beated
:50:16. > :50:21.Tomas Berdych 15 setses in a row. As Berdych catched that itch
:50:22. > :50:24.Djokovic was really aching. That deadly right arm betrayed him.
:50:25. > :50:30.Others may have quit then, Djokovic tried to drag his body op but the
:50:31. > :50:36.power was gone, so soon was his serve. A set and early break to the
:50:37. > :50:42.cheque. He had to make the call every champion hates, that he could
:50:43. > :50:46.not go on. -- Czech. Is this it. I think he is defaulting.
:50:47. > :50:50.UMPIRE: Due injury Mr Djokovic is forced to retire the match. Match to
:50:51. > :50:55.Berdych. That is hugely disappointing for
:50:56. > :50:57.everyone on Court One, but they will understand that a 12 times Grand
:50:58. > :51:05.Slam champion does not do that lightly.
:51:06. > :51:10.Berdych finally here seven years ago strolls into the semis and perhaps
:51:11. > :51:16.we now know what was eating Novak Djokovic. A sad end to his
:51:17. > :51:22.challenge. A very frustrating moment. He didn't drop a set. He was
:51:23. > :51:26.a bit more passionate and engaging in his matches but his has been
:51:27. > :51:31.having problems with the elbow. It is something that more than bothers
:51:32. > :51:36.him. He has to get healthy otherwise he shouldn't be playing. Tomas
:51:37. > :51:42.Berdych winning against Novak, that is his first win in the last 13
:51:43. > :51:47.meetings, only his third in 28. This is what Novak had to say afterwards
:51:48. > :51:54.about the situation S It is an old injury and it has been coming on and
:51:55. > :52:01.off, unfortunately. The fact that I've played now almost three weeks
:52:02. > :52:07.in a row. The more I play, the worse it gets probably has affected the
:52:08. > :52:14.level and the spend any of that injury and the fooling. -To-ly not
:52:15. > :52:18.the way I want to finish the Wimbledon this year, because I felt
:52:19. > :52:22.that in the last three weeks I've been playing probably the best
:52:23. > :52:26.tennis I have played in the last year or so, I haven't dropped any
:52:27. > :52:30.set. In Eastbourne won the tournament. Came into quarters
:52:31. > :52:36.feeling great. Yesterday I started to feel during the match, that it
:52:37. > :52:40.was bothering me, but today it was serve and forehand. It was
:52:41. > :52:45.unfortunately no sense to finish the match and to kind of go on, you
:52:46. > :52:50.never though what, how worse it can get. Male players have been dropping
:52:51. > :52:54.like flies. He is the ninth man to drop out without come pleaing the
:52:55. > :52:58.match, how much more, like Andy Murray how much more do things hurt
:52:59. > :53:03.when the Scottish isn't going your way? A lot. A lot. 06 course it
:53:04. > :53:10.wasn't great he had to play yesterday. The match was quick. He
:53:11. > :53:13.had to wait four-and-a-half hours but that shouldn't be held as an
:53:14. > :53:18.excuse. It is parliament of winning a Grand Slam, you have to win seven
:53:19. > :53:23.matches over two week, sometimes you have to plain back-to-back. Last
:53:24. > :53:29.year in the French Open he played four days back-to-back, it worked
:53:30. > :53:34.out. Injuries happen to players. We have to find a way to overcome it.
:53:35. > :53:38.Because of this there won't be much credit given to Tomas Berdych. Well,
:53:39. > :53:42.no. Berdych had a terrible record against him. There was no indication
:53:43. > :53:48.based on form if they are both playing well that Berdych would win.
:53:49. > :53:54.25 and two doesn't Garner confidence. He was wear the problems
:53:55. > :53:57.Novak was having, so that inspires belief in him, the say way it did
:53:58. > :54:03.Sam Querrey against Andy Murray, same thing. He relaxes a bit more.
:54:04. > :54:08.That is, you know, Novak has to decide what he will do about this. I
:54:09. > :54:13.understand he has a second, I believe it is round the US Open. I
:54:14. > :54:19.am guessing he will have something done, I would presume, and I would
:54:20. > :54:25.if he played the US Open. Big questions about who might end up. It
:54:26. > :54:30.remind me of last year's Nadal-Federer situation. Nadal
:54:31. > :54:36.didn't play. Federer hurt his knee, both took a long time off and see
:54:37. > :54:42.where they are this year. Maybe Andy and Novak should think about that
:54:43. > :54:47.and see where their future goes. A quick word on fed record Berdych,
:54:48. > :54:53.Berdych has beaten him here. That was a long time ago. He is a lot
:54:54. > :55:03.older now. Federer is a lot younger. Because he is the man who defies
:55:04. > :55:06.time! Time! What was that movie Benjamin Button Yes it is like that.
:55:07. > :55:09.It is time for quote of the day. Day. We will give to it the man who
:55:10. > :55:24.has knocked out Andy Murray. Sam, obviously not one of the top
:55:25. > :55:29.four players so people, even though you are not new so somebody said,
:55:30. > :55:35.who is Sam Querrey to you, how would you describe yourself? 26 and pretty
:55:36. > :55:40.good grass court player. That's about it. That's it? Yes. Nothing
:55:41. > :55:44.else. Sam Querrey being funny there,
:55:45. > :55:51.everybody will know his name now, an update op that mixed doubles. Max
:55:52. > :55:55.Mirnyi and Makarova up against Skupski and Jocelyn Rae. It was
:55:56. > :55:59.seven all when I last looked but it is 8-7 to the British pair, in the
:56:00. > :56:03.deciding third set, that is live on the Red Button if you would like to
:56:04. > :56:20.watch it. But let us move on to shot to day. We give to it the king.
:56:21. > :56:29.Oh my goodness. Federer has managed to hit round the
:56:30. > :56:34.outside of this ball and bend it. Back on to the line. The bending
:56:35. > :56:41.banana forehand gets shot of the day. We wanted to bring you
:56:42. > :56:45.something from the Boys' Doubles. When two players were playing they
:56:46. > :56:48.came out and broke very strict Wimbledon rules.
:56:49. > :56:55.Because they were not, those are pants, right. Those are underpant,
:56:56. > :57:00.because those boys were not wearing the correct colour pants, I am sure
:57:01. > :57:04.you can see they were wearing black underpants, they have to wear white,
:57:05. > :57:11.so the umpire askeded them to go and change. It is a proper offence A
:57:12. > :57:16.major offence, I am surprise they didn't get fined. Kontinen and
:57:17. > :57:22.Watson were rained off yesterday, they came back today and they beat
:57:23. > :57:29.the fourth seeds so they join jury and Martina Hingis in the
:57:30. > :57:33.quarterfinals, Hingis and Murray will meet the winners of the match
:57:34. > :57:38.that is currently on the Red Button. This from the boy, this is Aidan
:57:39. > :57:44.McHugh, he is through to the third round of the boys tournament after
:57:45. > :57:49.beating the sixth seed of Serbia. That is something Andy Murray has
:57:50. > :57:54.been helping with. He is a real hope for the future. So let us look at
:57:55. > :58:00.the order of play for tomorrow. Because mug will open up against
:58:01. > :58:02.Magdalena Rybarikova on Centre Court, followed by Venus Williams
:58:03. > :58:07.against Johanna Konta, Venus Williams of course the five times
:58:08. > :58:11.champion. Then Murray and Hingis against the winner of the match that
:58:12. > :58:15.is still going on, and I think Skupski and Rae are serving for the
:58:16. > :58:19.match but it is still ongoing. The weather forecast for tomorrow, a
:58:20. > :58:26.chilly start, it is quite cold now, giving way to a warm sunny day with
:58:27. > :58:29.temperatures of 24 C. Still very tight in that final game. We hope
:58:30. > :58:34.it's the final game in the mixed doubles. Kind looking at the score
:58:35. > :58:39.board. People are watching that but it is not concluded, it is on Red
:58:40. > :58:43.Button. What a day it has been. It sure has. You never know, that is
:58:44. > :58:46.the beauty of sport. Who would have this morning that the defending
:58:47. > :58:51.champion and the three time champion... Would have gone.
:58:52. > :58:56.Exactly. Murray is out. Federer marches on. We have hope tomorrow in
:58:57. > :58:59.the shape of Johanna Konta.
