:00:38. > :00:46.Welcome to round six of the 2014 world triathlon series. We are in

:00:47. > :00:50.the beautiful port city of hamburg. What a weekend to be in Germany.

:00:51. > :00:54.Although the whole country understandably has gone World Cup

:00:55. > :00:59.crazy, there is plenty of enthusiasm for the World Cup is Mac biggest

:01:00. > :01:03.triathlon. Hamburg has always been a highlight on the world triathlon

:01:04. > :01:07.series circuit, huge crowds turn up to cheer on the elite athletes and

:01:08. > :01:12.the 11,000 amateurs who take part. For the second year in a vote this

:01:13. > :01:16.stock will serve up a double dose of action by hosting the mixed team

:01:17. > :01:17.relay World Championships. We have highlights of all three races coming

:01:18. > :01:25.up. Hamburg is one of two races left,

:01:26. > :01:31.both of them sprint distance before the next month's grand final. He is

:01:32. > :01:36.a B cup of the five races so far. In Auckland Hannay Gomez took top

:01:37. > :01:42.honours in the men's series. Jodie Stimpson in the women. They made it.

:01:43. > :01:46.Two out of two in Cape Town and yorker Harmer Javier Montoya and

:01:47. > :01:53.further as the USA's when Jorgensen got her first 's victory of the

:01:54. > :01:56.season. Gwen was on top again in London. Mario Mola got his first

:01:57. > :02:04.ever world triathlon series win. Last time out in Chicago, this

:02:05. > :02:09.happened. Round five of the 2014 world triathlon series in Chicago is

:02:10. > :02:14.underway. The lead pack beginning to establish themselves, working

:02:15. > :02:18.together. Gomez is gone. He has tried to kick away from Mario Mola.

:02:19. > :02:25.He suddenly went for it. It might have just brought him success.

:02:26. > :02:26.Javier Gomez Noya of Spain. He raises his finger. Yet another win

:02:27. > :02:38.for the Spaniard. They are into Lake Michigan. They

:02:39. > :02:44.need more to stay away from Gwen Jorgensen. Jorgensen waits for her

:02:45. > :02:52.time to strike. She moves clear of Jenkins. It is a record breaking

:02:53. > :02:55.sixth win for Gwen Jorgensen. Heading into Hamburg this weekend

:02:56. > :02:59.Gwen Jorgensen's three wins this season means she has built up a

:03:00. > :03:03.commanding lead at the top of the women's rankings. She has taken part

:03:04. > :03:07.in one more race and Helen Jenkins and Jodie Stimpson and to more than

:03:08. > :03:12.her compatriot Sarah Groff. With three races left, the Welsh title is

:03:13. > :03:16.still up for grabs. It is looking more and more likely that the world

:03:17. > :03:21.title will remain in Spain -- world title. Mr consistent, Javier Gomez

:03:22. > :03:31.Noya strong in Chicago but in London he is more vulnerable over the

:03:32. > :03:33.sprint distance. Two to come, Hamburg and Stockholm, Mario Mola if

:03:34. > :03:36.back to his best, Jonny Brownlee, will look to capitalise. One notable

:03:37. > :03:39.absentee is world champion Stanford, and because she isn't racing she

:03:40. > :03:40.will keep the Company this weekend and in Glasgow at the Commonwealth

:03:41. > :03:49.Games. Wellcome. I know you will be rather

:03:50. > :03:52.out there defending your title. It has been a tough season watching

:03:53. > :03:58.everyone else race while I have sat on the sofa watching. Initially the

:03:59. > :04:01.emotion was very raw. Having to break the news to my friends and

:04:02. > :04:08.family about the Commonwealth Games was tough. I am fashioning the

:04:09. > :04:15.latest footwear. Tell us why you have this lovely shoe. Initially, I

:04:16. > :04:22.tore my tissue that runs along the sole of my foot and it supports my

:04:23. > :04:26.foot. As I was trying to rehabilitate, 6-8 weeks, for

:04:27. > :04:35.London, I picked up a stress response. Not a fracture? But

:04:36. > :04:39.almost. The stage before a fracture. Ack for six weeks -- back for six

:04:40. > :04:42.weeks. You must know what people like Chris Froome are feeling by not

:04:43. > :04:48.being able to defend their sporting title. Definitely. Watching that

:04:49. > :04:52.race and watching him and Mark Cavendish crash out, I really feel

:04:53. > :04:57.for them. I know exactly what they are going through. My heart goes out

:04:58. > :05:00.to them. We are looking forward to the action. She was at the heart of

:05:01. > :05:06.the action last year, coming second to Germany's Annie Howell. She has

:05:07. > :05:10.not been able to recover from a crash on the London course at the

:05:11. > :05:14.end of May. But with Gwen Jorgensen, Helen Jenkins and Jodie Stimpson

:05:15. > :05:20.competing this weekend, we have quite a race on our hands.

:05:21. > :05:25.Congratulations on your silver in Chicago. At the beginning of the

:05:26. > :05:30.year, would you have expected this level of success? No, I would not

:05:31. > :05:33.have expected it with the preparation I had had and the

:05:34. > :05:38.training. As the year has gone on, I have got it and felt better in each

:05:39. > :05:45.race. Chicago was my best race this year. How are you, Jody, had he

:05:46. > :05:48.recovered from the foot injury? I am fine. Straight away after London it

:05:49. > :05:54.did not take long to heal. It has been a hard block of training. It

:05:55. > :05:59.has been in my bubble, head down and just swim, bike, run, repeat. I am

:06:00. > :06:05.feeling like I have stepped up in fitness. Congratulations on your

:06:06. > :06:08.record-breaking sixth world triathlon series win. Were you aware

:06:09. > :06:14.of that record, going into the Chicago race? People had talked that

:06:15. > :06:22.record but it was not something I was thinking about. -- talked about.

:06:23. > :06:25.I was focused on race day. It was a good experience, bigger races and

:06:26. > :06:30.that crowd. I felt them pushing me to the finish line, which was

:06:31. > :06:36.incredible. Missing a home race is always devastating. As most

:06:37. > :06:41.athletes. It tends to be one of the premier events for you in the year.

:06:42. > :06:46.But sometimes you have to sacrifice a short-term goal for a long-term

:06:47. > :06:52.goal. To finish up the season well, and not compromise my injury was

:06:53. > :06:53.definitely the priority. Gwen is the fastest runner we have seen for a

:06:54. > :07:02.number of years in this sport. She has made such an impact. It is

:07:03. > :07:08.what everyone is talking about. I am trying to focus on my strength. My

:07:09. > :07:11.strengths is being a strong triathlete across three

:07:12. > :07:16.disciplines, we need to use that to our advantage. The weakness for Gwen

:07:17. > :07:21.is her power on the bike, the first acceleration. People are committed.

:07:22. > :07:26.That would be the opportunity to get an advantage over Gwen. GB girls

:07:27. > :07:31.can't do it on their own commerce takes a committed group to put the

:07:32. > :07:35.hammer down on the bike -- on their own, it takes. Everybody needs to

:07:36. > :07:39.give the bike a good effort this weekend.

:07:40. > :07:45.Not long to go until the women's race start and the competitors have

:07:46. > :07:47.come into the transition area to park their bikes and put the

:07:48. > :07:51.equipment that they need into their boxes before they go off for their

:07:52. > :07:57.warm up. What is going through your head at this point? Everyone has

:07:58. > :08:02.their game face on but it is a face. I am normally inside, panicking a

:08:03. > :08:06.bit. But in a brave face on, on the outside. Everyone is an individual

:08:07. > :08:12.and will prepared differently. I have a dance and try to relax. No

:08:13. > :08:17.dancing here just yet, what have you made of the women's series?

:08:18. > :08:20.Exciting, different people on the podium every time. Gwen is the

:08:21. > :08:25.favourite, she is running away with it. Exciting to see what happens. On

:08:26. > :08:29.your day you are the next fastest runner, you could give Gwen a run

:08:30. > :08:32.for her money, but is there anyone else on the current circuit that

:08:33. > :08:38.could train up and compete with her on that one? Currently, she is

:08:39. > :08:42.running away with it. Helen Jenkins before the Olympics, that is when

:08:43. > :08:46.she was in great form. Before the Olympics, she could have challenged

:08:47. > :08:53.when. Hopefully she can get back their -- challenged Gwen. We will

:08:54. > :08:56.see how she goes. We have heard from the leading contenders, who should

:08:57. > :09:01.we look out for on the course today? We have the Olympic bronze-medallist

:09:02. > :09:05.back in the game but the last time we saw how was the grand final in

:09:06. > :09:10.2012. Interesting that Erin is back, she had a long time out, she hasn't

:09:11. > :09:14.rushed back into it. She is only back because she is in shape.

:09:15. > :09:19.Interesting to see how she goes. Sophia Sala, the young gun, German,

:09:20. > :09:23.she came second in the Europeans recently. In front of a home crowd

:09:24. > :09:26.she will be eager to show off what she can do. A big home crowd,

:09:27. > :09:37.hundreds of thousands. Time to This is because they face. 750

:09:38. > :09:46.metres in the water and then on to two wheels. Six 3.3 kilometre labs

:09:47. > :09:50.on the bike. Taking them on several of the bridges. A couple of out and

:09:51. > :09:56.backs, tight turns but a scenic route as well. This is one of the

:09:57. > :10:01.out and backs, the hairpin. They head back to transition in front of

:10:02. > :10:05.the City Hall in Hamburg. Onto the five K run, 5,000-metre foot race to

:10:06. > :10:15.round off things. It will be contested over two 2.5 kilometre

:10:16. > :10:17.labs. -- laps. When Jorgensen is in number one, Jenkins two, Stimson and

:10:18. > :10:34.gruff. -- gruff. A return to racing today for the

:10:35. > :10:38.Olympic silver-medallist Lisa laudanum with number 60.

:10:39. > :10:47.They are calls to their marks and they are underway. A single lap in

:10:48. > :10:52.the water. -- called to. Out into the open water before turning and

:10:53. > :10:57.returning. 750 metres in the water to be followed by a short sprint

:10:58. > :11:02.distance ride of 20 kilometres, around the streets of hamburg. The

:11:03. > :11:08.run is a five kilometre, 5,000-metre, two 4.5 kilometre labs.

:11:09. > :11:17.A fast and furious start in Hamburg. It certainly is. The pontoon, the

:11:18. > :11:25.athletes will be nervous. A long and narrow pontoon. A sprint distance,

:11:26. > :11:29.750 metres, straight out, just over 350 metres before they turn. You

:11:30. > :11:32.have got to hit the pace, really top end if you want to have any chance

:11:33. > :11:37.of coming out with the front leaders. A big race for some of

:11:38. > :11:41.these athletes. As they are coming into this race. Commonwealth Games

:11:42. > :11:49.athletes. Two weeks before, just under. They are making this

:11:50. > :11:52.right-handed turn, now. I think that is Helen Jenkins. Jenkins is right

:11:53. > :11:57.up there with the lead group, number two, Jenkins in third position

:11:58. > :12:03.around in the kayak. Which is there for safety reasons and as a marker.

:12:04. > :12:07.There is a bit of ducking and diving going on at the first of those

:12:08. > :12:11.turning points. As the big group comes around. If you then get pushed

:12:12. > :12:15.under the giant yellow inflatables. I am always amazed we don't have

:12:16. > :12:20.more accidents in that situation. They will only make this turn once.

:12:21. > :12:26.Single lap situation. The second sprint of the season. There will be

:12:27. > :12:33.a sprint in Stockholm next time out as well. Aileen Reid, representing

:12:34. > :12:35.Ireland. She will represent Northern Ireland at the forthcoming

:12:36. > :12:40.Commonwealth Games. We look out for her wearing number 21 today.

:12:41. > :12:46.Pamela Oliveira grinds it out towards the end of the swim. Alice

:12:47. > :12:54.Betto of Italy just getting the nudge, now. In front. They will head

:12:55. > :12:57.towards the exit, via the echoes under the bridge.

:12:58. > :13:05.Getting back towards the finish. Quite spooky under that bridge, at

:13:06. > :13:09.least 40 metres long. Perhaps by the time they have gone through it, they

:13:10. > :13:14.will only take 15 seconds or so but it will be very dark. If you arms

:13:15. > :13:20.will flap around, physical contact, if they lose the light going under

:13:21. > :13:25.that tunnel. The swim is almost done in this sixth round of the world

:13:26. > :13:30.triathlon series for 2014. They have a choice of two sides coming out on

:13:31. > :13:34.the water, we will check on everybody's position. A warm welcome

:13:35. > :13:36.for all the athletes as they wake their way towards transition. Betto,

:13:37. > :13:40.Oliveira. Helen Jenkins in good shape.

:13:41. > :14:38.Jorgensen right in there. bike. This course is six laps of 3.3

:14:39. > :14:43.kilometres. The swim does not seem to have affected her. I wonder how

:14:44. > :14:55.she will tackle this technical course. Sarah Groff getting a bit

:14:56. > :15:06.tangled up. She was trying to shadow when yorgensen out of transition. We

:15:07. > :15:14.have an early retirement, Juri Ide. She is able to get on her bike and

:15:15. > :15:18.leave transition. She was in great shape leaving Chicago. It is a great

:15:19. > :15:25.shame for her. Lucy Hall is very much a feature of the Olympic

:15:26. > :15:28.triathlon in Hyde Park. She was there to help Helen Jenkins along.

:15:29. > :15:36.White and I think she has backed off a bit on her swim. She -- I think

:15:37. > :15:43.she has backed off a bit on her swim. She has been working on her

:15:44. > :15:49.bike. Expect to see her out the front. She is very confident of her

:15:50. > :15:54.biking skills. The world number one, wearing number one as such. Keeping

:15:55. > :16:05.out of trouble and riding with a group of seven or eight bunched

:16:06. > :16:17.together. I can see Sarah Groff there, compatriot of Gwen Jorgensen.

:16:18. > :16:22.together. I can see Sarah Groff I can see another compatriot as

:16:23. > :16:40.well. The Germans are well represented.

:16:41. > :16:49.The lead group are almost halfway through, 11.7 kilometres to go.

:16:50. > :17:03.Still around 30 athletes in this front group. They are determined to

:17:04. > :17:07.keep the pace up. The German crowd would be silent if there were not

:17:08. > :17:14.some interest as far as they are concerned. They have two people in

:17:15. > :17:24.the front group. The 19-year-old has just been given the chance to raise

:17:25. > :17:29.for the German team. Emma Jackson from Australia is at the back of the

:17:30. > :17:40.pack. She likes to sit in and get a bit of a ride. This is the trickiest

:17:41. > :17:49.turn on the course. Time for cool heads. The only opportunity they had

:17:50. > :17:55.was to ride into the turn really hard and come out really fast. She

:17:56. > :18:01.is a tall girl. This course would be very challenging for her. Lucy Hall

:18:02. > :18:08.is doing a lot of work. That is great to see. I worry about her legs

:18:09. > :18:14.when it comes to the run. With just under eight: It is to ride before

:18:15. > :18:22.the 5000 metres conclusion, it is all playing into the hands of Gwen

:18:23. > :18:26.yorgensen. We know about her running capabilities. She -- when

:18:27. > :18:28.yorgensen. We know about her running capabilities. She will not have any

:18:29. > :18:40.deficit to make up if capabilities. She will not have any

:18:41. > :18:52.two wheels safely. She needs to do it in her own time. You mention the

:18:53. > :18:58.retirement of Emma. That is a bit of a sorry sight. It was good to see

:18:59. > :19:01.her racing. It seems she has become a bit frustrated. She would be

:19:02. > :19:08.better working in a pack and she will be on her home. With two laps

:19:09. > :19:15.to go on the bike, they are not going to drop Gwen, are they? Sign

:19:16. > :19:22.they are not really coordinating it. Unless they coordinate it, they

:19:23. > :19:26.are not going to get a breakaway. Back with the front of the lead

:19:27. > :19:31.group and once again it is Lucy Hall forcing the pace. Lisa Norden is in

:19:32. > :19:50.third place. She knows this course well and will

:19:51. > :20:01.have a lot of confidence going out onto the run. The winner is out and

:20:02. > :20:10.Non Stanford is out. Andrea Hewitt was fourth and Ashleigh Gentle

:20:11. > :20:22.faith. -- fifth. That was 12 months ago. The German crowd be hoping for

:20:23. > :20:27.an improvement. I feel sorry for Annie not to have made this race.

:20:28. > :20:33.She had a crash in London and has ended up with a nerve problem. She

:20:34. > :20:44.got a doctor out of retirement. He helped her before with a similar

:20:45. > :20:53.problem. Lucy Hall has made a break here. They seem to be responding

:20:54. > :20:59.behind. Her only chance of a top finish would be if they make a

:21:00. > :21:05.break. It will be difficult. I would be surprised if they let her get

:21:06. > :21:09.away. Saying that, it is a good 50 metres. About three seconds the gap

:21:10. > :21:16.between Lucy Hall and the rest of the chasing group. They have now

:21:17. > :21:24.become the chasing group. Just under five kilometres to ride. Lucy has

:21:25. > :21:31.really attacked the course. She is a tall girl. It could be hard for her

:21:32. > :21:35.around the bends. She is very confident in her biking ability. I

:21:36. > :21:48.love to see a writer who takes it on and wants to have a go. Hall is out

:21:49. > :21:53.of the saddle. She is putting plenty of daylight tween the wheels. The

:21:54. > :22:04.penultimate lap is at an end. One to go. -- between the wheels. Lucy Hall

:22:05. > :22:21.is leading, as she has done on every step of this ride so far. Emma

:22:22. > :22:31.Moffatt in fourth place. They take the Bell with Lucy Hall leading them

:22:32. > :22:36.through. The final map is under way. News from the camp where Jodie

:22:37. > :22:43.trains with Darren Smith, she is clocking some of her best times in

:22:44. > :22:49.training. She had a nasty incident in Japan. By all accounts she is

:22:50. > :22:54.back on form again and at her best in 2014. There she

:22:55. > :22:56.back on form again and at her best screen, Jodie Stimpson surging to

:22:57. > :23:07.the front. It is the first we have seen of her at the front of the

:23:08. > :23:14.pack. Lucy Hall having a little chat with Jodie Stimpson. The trio of

:23:15. > :23:18.British triathletes, Helen Jenkins, Jodie Stimpson and Lucy Hall leading

:23:19. > :23:26.them through. The last lap is under way. Transition is absolutely

:23:27. > :23:32.crucial. The second transition needs to be executed accurately, quickly,

:23:33. > :23:36.without danger of incurring any sort of stop -go penalty. In other words,

:23:37. > :23:42.the Mint has to be correctly placed in the containers. -- the equipment.

:23:43. > :23:49.It has two hit the spot. So many times we have seen triathletes

:23:50. > :23:57.penalised for not doing the basics correctly. It is so hard. They get

:23:58. > :24:01.twitchy and nervous. The seconds are so important. They do know the

:24:02. > :24:08.rules. We have seen a few of them caught out in the past. The pace is

:24:09. > :24:15.easing off slightly as they make their way to this final lap, the

:24:16. > :24:21.last lap of six. And then on to the round, which is just a two lap

:24:22. > :24:30.affair today. Two laps of 2.5 kilometres to round off the sprint

:24:31. > :24:43.distance of the triathlon. Sarah Groff has gone through. Gwen has

:24:44. > :24:49.gone through. She probably thinks this race is once again for her to

:24:50. > :24:52.win. The Germans are manoeuvring and jostling for position. They are

:24:53. > :25:01.heading into the second transition area. It'll interesting to see where

:25:02. > :25:07.Gwen Jorgensen puts herself. She is a slow burn up on the run. She

:25:08. > :25:19.gradually built into the run. -- burner. Can Gwen Jorgensen be

:25:20. > :25:20.gradually built into the run. -- today? She puts her

:25:21. > :25:28.gradually built into the run. -- to remove the strap on her shoe. At

:25:29. > :25:32.the front of the field, number 37, Kate McIlroy of New Zealand has come

:25:33. > :25:37.through to take first position and tried to give herself a head start,

:25:38. > :25:43.as she begins the five kilometres run to round things off here today.

:25:44. > :25:50.This is where a good transition can make the difference, especially in

:25:51. > :25:58.April -- a sprint race. At the end of the 20 K bike stage. A group of

:25:59. > :26:03.30 plus athletes arrive in transition, ready to park their

:26:04. > :26:15.bikes and put on their running shoes and sunglasses and begin their 5000

:26:16. > :26:19.metre run. Jodie Stimpson is there and the shoes are going on quickly

:26:20. > :26:24.and effectively. Jodie Stimpson in and the shoes are going on quickly

:26:25. > :26:29.and out of transition. Helen Jenkins hopefully will not be too far

:26:30. > :26:35.behind. Gwen Jorgensen will not be worrying about this. She is in a

:26:36. > :26:39.good position. Emma Jackson from Australia. Helmets and sunglasses

:26:40. > :26:51.safely in the boxes. It is easy to spot the running start of when

:26:52. > :26:56.yorgensen. -- Gwen yorgensen. It is Jodie Stimpson from Great Britain.

:26:57. > :27:04.She is 12 in the triathlon standings. Back-to-back victories in

:27:05. > :27:12.Auckland and Cape Town. She is leading them in Hamburg today. She

:27:13. > :27:16.is picking off race after race. She is gliding past Ashleigh Gentle.

:27:17. > :27:22.Wearing the number one on her shoulder. Another victim, Lisa

:27:23. > :27:30.Norden. Next to get overtaken, one by one she picks them. I wonder if

:27:31. > :27:32.she is sensing a bit of danger. Perhaps not looking quite so

:27:33. > :27:38.comfortable as we normally would see her. A little bit overheated may be.

:27:39. > :27:51.The temperature is around 22 degrees. The next victim is the

:27:52. > :27:56.German. She moves alongside Kate McIlroy. Aileen Reid from Ireland

:27:57. > :28:06.will be the next one to feel her breathing down her neck. Sarah Groff

:28:07. > :28:11.will be passed as well, as she moves up shoulder to shoulder with Helen

:28:12. > :28:18.Jenkins. Can she respond? She is right behind. This is a brutal

:28:19. > :28:19.attack. Past one of the other Americans and she is right up

:28:20. > :28:39.Might be the next victim. The towards the front.

:28:40. > :28:49.Might be the next victim. The Italian is next to go. Number eight,

:28:50. > :29:00.Alice Betto, did not last long. She can see the front of the field now.

:29:01. > :29:07.At the front of the field, we have got Kirsten Sweetland of Canada. We

:29:08. > :29:18.have Jodie Stimpson of Great Britain and the Italian, reaching for water.

:29:19. > :29:24.She won bronze medal in the Italian championships. We talked about how

:29:25. > :29:25.strong they were. She will have all the spectators, the pressure of the

:29:26. > :29:42.crowds on her. Gwen Jorgensen Pastor Samuels,

:29:43. > :29:47.fighting for position. Jenkins back in the pack. Jenkins with her eyes

:29:48. > :29:54.firmly on the Commonwealth Games. She will not want to risk any injury

:29:55. > :29:59.here today. Jorgensen not involved in the Commonwealth Games as an

:30:00. > :30:05.American. At the Canadian Sweetland will be. Near the front of this race

:30:06. > :30:10.-- but the Canadian. Jodie Stimpson. Gwen Jorgensen continues to make

:30:11. > :30:16.inroads, continues to close the gap towards the front three. How running

:30:17. > :30:20.style perhaps deceptive. She has such a long stride but the turnover

:30:21. > :30:28.is there, she is fast, her hunched shoulders make her look slower than

:30:29. > :30:32.she is. 15th .3 on this course last year -- 15.3. 16 minutes for her

:30:33. > :30:36.previous sprint distance. It is hot, though. She has athletes in

:30:37. > :30:46.front of her, still a lot of work to go.

:30:47. > :30:52.Joe -- Jodie Stimpson in front with Sweden. Annamaria Mazzetti could not

:30:53. > :30:59.stay with them. Jackson is moving up a position or two. -- with

:31:00. > :31:05.Sweetland. Towards the end of the first lap of two. Jorgensen now in

:31:06. > :31:11.sixth position. As she continues her relentless run towards the front of

:31:12. > :31:13.this sixth stage of the world triathlon series. Hoping for four

:31:14. > :31:22.wins in a row. Jorgensen now breathing down

:31:23. > :31:24.Jackson's Mac. Green and gold. Long-haired Australian. Now shoulder

:31:25. > :31:33.to shoulder with Jorgensen -- Jackson. She can see Stimson, a

:31:34. > :31:38.matter metres between the leading two. Jackson in third and Jorgensen

:31:39. > :31:43.in fourth -- Stimpson. She picks them off, she has a break up

:31:44. > :31:47.overtakes them and moves onto the next one. She is that good she can

:31:48. > :31:52.take a break, take a breath and go for the next attack.

:31:53. > :31:57.They are approaching the end of the first lap of two over this sprint

:31:58. > :32:02.distance. Two and a half kilometres to run. Jorgensen has got with the

:32:03. > :32:11.front pack. She has settled back. She is running at their pace at the

:32:12. > :32:14.moment. Andrea Hewitt and Mazzetti with the short strides from the

:32:15. > :32:18.Italian, desperately trying to stay with the leaders.

:32:19. > :32:30.Annamaria Mazzetti. And the rest of the group of six in front of her

:32:31. > :32:34.take the Bell. One lap to go. 2.5 kilometres to run. It is coming

:32:35. > :32:41.down, potentially, to a sprint finish between Gwen Jorgensen and

:32:42. > :32:47.Jodie Stimpson. Let's see how it unfolds over the final lap. I didn't

:32:48. > :32:52.see Helen Jenkins coming through there. As we said earlier, perhaps

:32:53. > :32:55.deep in her training and Commonwealth Games preparation.

:32:56. > :33:00.Having a look at the athlete sharing water, showing great sportsmanship.

:33:01. > :33:05.Some managing to get water, others not. A shared water bottle between

:33:06. > :33:11.Stimpson and Jorgensen, who now moves to joint first position. They

:33:12. > :33:16.shared water. Now they are attempting to share the lead, but I

:33:17. > :33:20.don't think anyone can match Gwen Jorgensen's turn of speed. She has

:33:21. > :33:27.kicked away. The first to respond is Sweetland. But only at about 50%.

:33:28. > :33:31.Jackson is trying to go with the American. She is also struggling. It

:33:32. > :33:42.seems that Stimpson, at the moment...

:33:43. > :33:57.Such a strong runner. Third in London behind Sarah Groff and Gwen

:33:58. > :34:00.Jorgensen. This was the view from roadside. Jodie Stimpson took a

:34:01. > :34:08.gulp. And then passed it to Gwen Jorgensen. Jackson from Australia

:34:09. > :34:10.holding onto silver. Sweetland from Canada in the red and white, still

:34:11. > :34:18.looking so Jorgensen leads the way for the

:34:19. > :34:24.United States of America. Emma Jackson in second, for Australia.

:34:25. > :34:26.Kirsten Sweetland third, for Canada. The last 1500 metres to run, just

:34:27. > :34:36.about one mile to go in Hamburg. Since we have been covering

:34:37. > :34:40.Jorgensen from this angle, she hasn't once looked over her

:34:41. > :34:48.shoulder. Such is her confidence. Let's have a count, one, two, three,

:34:49. > :34:51.four seconds is the gap between Jorgensen and second and third.

:34:52. > :34:56.There is a battle going on for runners up spot at the moment but

:34:57. > :35:01.the win is surely in the bag for Gwen Jorgensen. She is away.

:35:02. > :35:06.I question whether she would manage to get round this very tough

:35:07. > :35:11.technical bike course in one piece but she certainly has -- I

:35:12. > :35:19.questioned. She seems totally invincible at the moment. She is on

:35:20. > :35:25.3424 points in the standings, Helen Jenkins has 2666 in second. Victory

:35:26. > :35:30.today in Hamburg will surely put the world triathlon series title for

:35:31. > :35:34.2014 out of reach, as far as the rest of them are concerned.

:35:35. > :35:38.Jorgensen has certainly come and conquered this year.

:35:39. > :35:46.She has cleaned up in the last few races. The winner in Yokohama over

:35:47. > :35:49.the Olympic distance. The winner over the sprint distance in London

:35:50. > :35:55.and back to the Olympic distance in Chicago. At the last race she won

:35:56. > :36:00.again. There is nothing to stop her, this season. Looks like Andrea

:36:01. > :36:06.Hewitt now has dropped Jodie Stimpson. Jodie Stimpson, another

:36:07. > :36:12.athlete who will head off to the Commonwealth Games. Just over a

:36:13. > :36:18.week's time. Two Commonwealth athletes fighting it out for second

:36:19. > :36:22.and third. Jackson and Sweetland. Although it is over the Olympic

:36:23. > :36:26.distance in Gaza it means the British triathletes will have

:36:27. > :36:33.something to think about -- distance in triathletes. They will be a

:36:34. > :36:36.threat for the Commonwealth medals. Jorgensen now is cruising. Looks

:36:37. > :36:41.comfortable all the way. Still hasn't been tempted to turn her head

:36:42. > :36:44.and look behind and see what the others are doing.

:36:45. > :36:52.Just a little glance, there. No one inside, because she turned the

:36:53. > :36:57.corner. Jorgensen knows she is on her own -- no one in sight. A sprint

:36:58. > :37:02.going on for second place as Jackson moves to get in front of Kirsten

:37:03. > :37:07.Sweetland. Emma Jackson goes into second as Sweetland looks behind to

:37:08. > :37:10.see Hewitt of New Zealand and Stimpson of Great Britain.

:37:11. > :37:14.Approaching the final stages of this sprint distance, world triathlon

:37:15. > :37:22.series race, in Hamburg. As expected, it has been a cruise, in

:37:23. > :37:27.the end, for Gwen Jorgensen of the United States of America. She will

:37:28. > :37:33.take her fourth straight world triathlon series win. She has done

:37:34. > :37:39.it in some style. Her move through the pack on the run was ruthless and

:37:40. > :37:44.relentless. She picked them off, one by one. She made the front. Then she

:37:45. > :37:50.made her decisive break and she eases up to win in Hamburg. Fabulous

:37:51. > :37:55.form, again, from Gwen Jorgensen. The sprint is on for second with

:37:56. > :38:00.Jackson just taking it away from Sweetland. Jackson into second.

:38:01. > :38:06.Sweetland takes third. Fourth place will go to the New Zealander, Andrea

:38:07. > :38:11.Hewitt. And then Jodie Stimpson is the first British triathlete home in

:38:12. > :38:20.fifth position. 21 seconds off the pace. Mazzetti of Italy finishes

:38:21. > :38:23.next. The head of Vicky Holland, with an excellent performance.

:38:24. > :38:26.Mazzetti home in sixth, Vicky Holland will take seventh. And then

:38:27. > :38:40.they come home in drips and drab. Barbara Riveros and Aileen Reid in

:38:41. > :38:46.ninth position. For Ireland. Ashleigh Gentle rounding up the top

:38:47. > :38:47.ten for Australia. The first German home to great applause here is

:38:48. > :38:59.Rebecca Robisch in 13th position. Anja Knapp beaten by Sarah Groff on

:39:00. > :39:06.the line. Eventually finishing in 16th spot, Anja Knapp. Fantastic

:39:07. > :39:11.race. What a masterful display from Gwen Jorgensen.

:39:12. > :39:14.Yet another victory for Gwen Jorgensen. This time over the sprint

:39:15. > :39:28.distance in Hamburg. Helen Jenkins pulled out shortly

:39:29. > :39:35.after the start of the run with a calf strain. Congratulations, you

:39:36. > :39:40.have conquered Yokohama, Chicago, London and now Hamburg. It was hard,

:39:41. > :39:45.the girls pushed me. You had a great swim, how hard was the bag? I had a

:39:46. > :39:50.good swim, but I did not ride in great position. -- how hard was the

:39:51. > :39:55.bike? I was trying to surge and go with Gwen, but I could not stay with

:39:56. > :39:59.her. Sweetland stayed with me the whole way, it was a sprint finish. I

:40:00. > :40:03.was aiming for this my whole life and after five years of injury I was

:40:04. > :40:08.wondering if it would ever happen. I am thrilled. That was hard. I was

:40:09. > :40:14.coming off a hard training blog, I knew it would be a tough day today.

:40:15. > :40:19.-- training block. A good swim, although I got it annihilated on the

:40:20. > :40:23.first turn. The bike was tough, it was a quick circuit. Trying to stay

:40:24. > :40:28.near the front. I felt good on the first lap of the run. My coach said

:40:29. > :40:36.to go hard and then work bits of the run. But I did not have that top end

:40:37. > :40:39.today. Maybe expected. I have ten days until the Commonwealth Games,

:40:40. > :40:44.it will be trying to get work done and rest up. COMMENTATOR: The

:40:45. > :40:47.women's standings after six events with the top five counting Gwen

:40:48. > :40:52.Jorgensen is miles ahead of Jodie Stimpson. After today's second

:40:53. > :40:57.position Emma Jackson has moved up to fourth.

:40:58. > :41:04.We saw Graham Cumming, let's leave that to one side. What a finish for

:41:05. > :41:07.second place -- when coming. Exciting scene Sweetland and Emma on

:41:08. > :41:11.the front line. I thought Kirsten had it but Emma came through, she is

:41:12. > :41:16.a strong runner, not overly surprised. Great to see Kirsten on

:41:17. > :41:20.the podium. Fourth place, a third Commonwealth athlete in Andrea

:41:21. > :41:22.Hewitt from New Zealand. Three Commonwealth athletes in front of

:41:23. > :41:25.the first British goal, bit worrying. But hopefully they are

:41:26. > :41:29.aiming for the Commonwealth Games and this is a training race. We have

:41:30. > :41:38.nothing to worry about. Something else we might have to worry about is

:41:39. > :41:40.not seeing Helen Jenkins finish. It is concerning Helen did not finish.

:41:41. > :41:45.She had in the goal in her ankle, playing it cautious. She did not

:41:46. > :41:49.want to risk anything today. How would you assess the rest of the

:41:50. > :41:54.British owners. Another solid result from Jodie in fifth and Vicky

:41:55. > :41:58.stepped up into seventh, that is the best result she had all year. Lucy

:41:59. > :42:02.did well on the bike, pushing the pace, that could be significant. A

:42:03. > :42:07.similar thing, it is tough. You could see Emma Jackson suffering.

:42:08. > :42:10.Time to switch our focus onto the men's race. Last year Jonathan

:42:11. > :42:14.Brownlee outsprinted his older brother Alistair Brownlee in a

:42:15. > :42:18.brilliant finish but that was the last race at Johnny won on the

:42:19. > :42:22.series. He still has a chance of becoming world champion but Alistair

:42:23. > :42:27.hasn't, he hasn't competed in enough races. The men's field have opened

:42:28. > :42:32.up and kept us on our toes. -- has opened up.

:42:33. > :42:38.Congratulations on becoming European champion for a third time, how

:42:39. > :42:42.important was that win for you? The European is always a good thing to

:42:43. > :42:46.win, a fantastic thing to win it three times so far. The last six

:42:47. > :42:50.weeks have been good training. I have done as good a training as I

:42:51. > :42:54.could have hoped. Another six week like that, I could be as fit as I

:42:55. > :43:01.could be but not far off. -- six weeks. How has the altitude training

:43:02. > :43:04.be for you? Good, we were in San Moritz for six weeks, it has worked

:43:05. > :43:08.well for me before. Moritz for six weeks, it has worked

:43:09. > :43:13.Olympics in 2012 we spent a month, five weeks up there. It works in two

:43:14. > :43:15.ways, the altitude helps, it is a benefit. Secondly, nothing to do

:43:16. > :43:20.apart from train, benefit. Secondly, nothing to do

:43:21. > :43:24.had been on the back foot since the start. My main problem has been

:43:25. > :43:28.going into the start of the season but is prepared as I could be. Other

:43:29. > :43:34.athletes, Javier Gomez Noya Mario Mola were in camps before. I went

:43:35. > :43:38.from Yorkshire to Auckland. I came home again and had ten days training

:43:39. > :43:41.and back into another race, home again and another race. There has

:43:42. > :43:47.only been ten days here and there to train. Would you say this is your

:43:48. > :43:52.best season so far? I have never won four races before, last year two and

:43:53. > :43:55.another two. I have been consistent. I will not force it.

:43:56. > :44:01.Amazing, things are going really well. Happy with my training. And my

:44:02. > :44:02.racing. The only bad race I had was London where I came sixth. The

:44:03. > :44:25.others were great, really happy. next to him in races. We both want

:44:26. > :44:32.to win. I can learn a lot from him. How are you viewing the hamburg

:44:33. > :44:45.race? It is a World Series race. I would like to be competitive. You've

:44:46. > :44:54.got one over on Alastair last year. It is a good course, a good, sprint

:44:55. > :44:59.race. It was a fast bike fast run. On Saturday it should be a very fast

:45:00. > :45:09.run. Alastair is fit and I am fit as well, so should be a fast five K.

:45:10. > :45:14.Not unusually we have not seen Alastair and Jonathan dominating the

:45:15. > :45:18.season. Are they back in form? They have been training really well.

:45:19. > :45:24.Alastair is really confident after his win at the Europeans. The way he

:45:25. > :45:29.carries himself and the transition, he knows what form he is in and I

:45:30. > :45:33.think he is ready to deliver today. The European title has helped his

:45:34. > :45:39.confidence and helped him mentally. Absolutely. That was him stamping

:45:40. > :45:47.his authority and saying, do not forget about me! I will cause you

:45:48. > :45:54.trouble. Jonathan is not as confident as Alastair. He loves the

:45:55. > :46:01.sprint. I think he will be there. He always comes out on top in that. Who

:46:02. > :46:07.else might we see on the podium? I think Richard Murray won here a

:46:08. > :46:11.couple of years ago, also our own Royal. He is coming into form. I

:46:12. > :46:42.would not be surprised if he were there. -- Aaron Royle.

:46:43. > :46:50.Round six of the World Triathlon Series for 2014. World number one

:46:51. > :47:00.closest to us, Javier Gomez. He is looking for his fifth win of 2014.

:47:01. > :47:07.Sprint distance here and they are getting ready to enter the water.

:47:08. > :47:14.Away they go! 66 men lined up on the blue pontoon. 750 metres in the

:47:15. > :47:22.water. A gorgeous afternoon in the lovely, early evening sunshine. The

:47:23. > :47:26.crowds are ten, 12 deep in places. They love the triathlon here. It is

:47:27. > :47:30.a very spectator friendly venue. We will expect the usual suspects to

:47:31. > :47:37.make their mark at the front of the swim field. Gomez and the Bramley

:47:38. > :47:44.brothers will not be too far away. Those are the weather conditions. It

:47:45. > :47:51.will mainly be sunny and nice and warm in and out of the water. It is

:47:52. > :47:59.a bit of a dashed this one. It is certainly. I was looking at the

:48:00. > :48:03.pontoon. I was so nervous. The anticipation at the start of the

:48:04. > :48:09.sprint race was different from the Olympics. Watching the athletes

:48:10. > :48:14.along the pontoon, they were all twitching, waiting for the guns to

:48:15. > :48:24.go. Very early on, we have our leader. The South African is out

:48:25. > :48:32.front. Engine ensure from Ireland and Javier Gomez and the roundly

:48:33. > :48:43.brothers. Javier Gomez is on the left of the pontoon. We can see this

:48:44. > :48:48.group coming together. Quite an interesting formation. The

:48:49. > :48:53.Czechoslovakian will be traditionally near the front of the

:48:54. > :48:57.swim. He is absent today so we expect possibly to see the French

:48:58. > :49:04.man. He is one of the strongest swimmers. Let's just checked on the

:49:05. > :49:10.number on the swim have. -- the swim hat. This guy keeps very low in the

:49:11. > :49:17.water. I can see the guys on the accompanying boat. It is number 45.

:49:18. > :49:24.It is the French man who is cutting a really nice line through the flat

:49:25. > :49:36.water. A good, fast start from him. You can see the lead he has got as

:49:37. > :49:41.they come to the turn. They will disappear under the bridge for a

:49:42. > :49:49.while before coming out of the quarter after 750 metres. That is

:49:50. > :49:59.followed by a 20 K ride on two wheels. They will have a 20 K ride

:50:00. > :50:07.and then five K is on foot to finish it off. Two 2.5 calamity laps. A

:50:08. > :50:13.different lap for the run than the bike. -- 2.5 kilometre laps. It will

:50:14. > :50:25.be interesting to see who he has got for company. The Brownlee brothers

:50:26. > :50:31.will not want to be too far away. Javier Gomez and Mario Mola have

:50:32. > :50:38.both won races this season. Mario Mola won the only other sprint race

:50:39. > :50:47.in Hyde Park, ahead of Richard Murray and Joe Parreira of Portugal.

:50:48. > :51:01.In 2007, Rafael won the world Junior championships in hamburg. 33 is

:51:02. > :51:09.accompanying him. It is Henry Scoop men. He is taking his place. The

:51:10. > :51:18.South African with the slightly scruffy swim stroke. Number 33 and

:51:19. > :51:23.number 25. Now they start to get under the bridge. It stretches out.

:51:24. > :51:27.You can see where they exit the water, the blue ramp on the middle

:51:28. > :51:32.of the screen, to the right of the crane. They jog round to wed the

:51:33. > :51:40.bikes are parked in transition. They spent a bit of time out of view.

:51:41. > :51:47.Those at the rear will not yet have entered the dark, cavernous caves

:51:48. > :51:57.underneath the tunnel here at the end of the swim in Hamburg. Here

:51:58. > :51:58.they come now. The two leading men in the water.

:51:59. > :52:04.they come now. The two leading men in the Very early on in this race it

:52:05. > :52:08.they come now. The two leading men is a bit early to call. It just goes

:52:09. > :52:14.to show how fast they have taken out of the swim. They have not given

:52:15. > :52:24.their weaker swimmers any chance of getting on the feet of the faster

:52:25. > :52:28.guys. A lovely, intimate atmosphere here in Hamburg. Spectators are up

:52:29. > :52:36.close and personal with the triathletes as they come to the end

:52:37. > :52:51.of stage one. They will be looking out for the Germans as well. They

:52:52. > :53:04.will have to really work hard to be in the top 12. They are not in a

:53:05. > :53:12.real rush. Gomez on his way. Dmitry Polyanskiy was third out of the

:53:13. > :53:25.water. Alastair Brownlee coming out in seven. He is ahead of Aaron Royle

:53:26. > :53:33.and Benjamin Shaw. The first of the Germans is there. Joe Parreira is in

:53:34. > :53:44.good shape. He is in good form as well. He is in the running again.

:53:45. > :53:48.Away they go. Helmets on. No time last having to take off wet suits

:53:49. > :53:58.today. Just a case of resting your feet on top of your shoes which are

:53:59. > :54:03.already fixed to the pedals. Henry leading them out of transition. He

:54:04. > :54:08.is looking around for some company. It will not be long before a decent

:54:09. > :54:19.sized group forms at the front of the race field. It looks as though

:54:20. > :54:28.Javier Gomez is in good shape. Number ten coming into site is the

:54:29. > :54:35.French man. The main threats to the likes of Javier Gomez and Jonathan

:54:36. > :54:40.Brownlee, Mario Mola and Richard Murray are a good 40 seconds back.

:54:41. > :54:46.It will be hard with these guys putting the hammer down in the first

:54:47. > :54:51.few kilometres. I can just see the Brownlee brothers heading up the

:54:52. > :54:56.second pack. There is Jonathan Brownlee. This is a chase pack just

:54:57. > :55:11.behind the pack which contains Geordie go -- Javier Gomez, Richard

:55:12. > :55:22.Murray is in there. Number 23 there. He is one of very few athletes who

:55:23. > :55:29.have been on the podium here. Since it has been a World Series triathlon

:55:30. > :55:37.event, the Brownlee brothers and Javier Gomez have been on the

:55:38. > :55:41.podium. Back with the leaders now and Javier Gomez is putting the

:55:42. > :55:48.hammer down. He is attempting to stretch this league. The chase group

:55:49. > :55:54.is not too far behind. They are trying -- I am trying to get to get

:55:55. > :55:58.account on how far they are behind. I make that about four microseconds,

:55:59. > :56:12.unofficially. Jonathan is any two spaces behind his older brother. It

:56:13. > :56:19.is unusual not to see the Brownlee brothers in the front pack. The

:56:20. > :56:29.leading group of seven are about to be swallowed up by the chasing group

:56:30. > :56:37.of about 20. So, I think we will have a group of 25, 26 forming quite

:56:38. > :56:41.quickly. Tom Davidson, who has been so fundamental in bringing the back

:56:42. > :56:45.swimmers up to the front pack, not racing here today. He is deciding

:56:46. > :56:51.that the sprint distance is not really for him. It could prove to be

:56:52. > :56:56.a bit difficult for Mario Mola if he has not made the front pack. He is a

:56:57. > :57:01.bit down on the swim. The real danger here. He won London. He is

:57:02. > :57:09.showing he is the man to beat over a sprint distance. They are

:57:10. > :57:17.approaching the end of their first slap of six. We will get a full

:57:18. > :57:23.check of the triathletes involved in the front group of 20 or so. At the

:57:24. > :57:32.end of the first lap, it is the man who was first out of the water who

:57:33. > :57:39.is in first. Jonathan Brownlee is there as well, as is Aaron Royle.

:57:40. > :57:45.Then Alastair. Benjamin Shaw, I think, of Ireland, also coming

:57:46. > :57:52.through in that group. One lap down and fight to go. This is the chase

:57:53. > :57:56.pack, led by Richard Murray. A huge group here, coming through single

:57:57. > :57:57.file. They are staying out of trouble.

:57:58. > :58:00.group here, coming through single file. They are staying The group of

:58:01. > :58:11.about 30, a gap of about five seconds. We have got three distinct

:58:12. > :58:25.groups forming. Back with the leaders now. 34, then Shaw, from

:58:26. > :58:28.Ireland. Also in this group is Raphael and both the Brownlee

:58:29. > :58:36.brothers. They are shoulder to shoulder. You can see the red, white

:58:37. > :58:40.and blue at the front of this group, with Javier Gomez involved as

:58:41. > :58:44.well. The element that there are 19 athletes involved in that group full

:58:45. > :58:56.it is great to see them working. The Brownlee brothers have got that

:58:57. > :58:57.train going. Number 47, the German. A bit of interest for the home

:58:58. > :59:11.crowd. Steffen Justus has had a good start

:59:12. > :59:16.to the bike. Germans up with the front group.

:59:17. > :59:22.As we get a shot as they come around the corner. The second pack.

:59:23. > :59:33.Daylight between the first and second pack. Both the brothers and

:59:34. > :59:35.have a is -- and Javier Gomez Gomez. Mola Mac and Murray trying their

:59:36. > :59:47.best to reel in the leaders. It is a familiar sight, the three

:59:48. > :59:55.top triathletes in the last five years, the Brownlee brothers and

:59:56. > :59:57.have yet. -- and have yet is the out in front.

:59:58. > :00:06.That bend is tight, the speed they are coming into it. They make this

:00:07. > :00:07.course is so narrow to give the spectators a good view. End of lap

:00:08. > :00:16.two on the bike. Have Javier Gomez Noya forces his way to

:00:17. > :00:20.the front. He will have first position at the end of the second

:00:21. > :00:30.lap. With the brothers hot on his heels. Justus is up there as well.

:00:31. > :00:31.Justus and the other German. Henri Schoeman first out of the water with

:00:32. > :00:43.the front group. 32 seconds separates the front and

:00:44. > :00:47.second pack, which is quite a significant time gap. Just a few

:00:48. > :00:57.kilometres of this bike ride. Richard Murray from South Africa

:00:58. > :01:03.struggles in the swim. He relies on working with some opponents on two

:01:04. > :01:08.wheels. And his strong running speed. That body language suggests

:01:09. > :01:13.Meanwhile, the leaders are starting enough to do some damage, here.

:01:14. > :01:17.Meanwhile, the leaders are starting to look a bit busier.

:01:18. > :01:27.Pereira just deciding to take on it is time -- deciding to take on some

:01:28. > :01:31.food. Jonathan Brownlee attacks. Definite attack, let's see who will

:01:32. > :01:34.go with him. Jonathan tries to stretch the lead group.

:01:35. > :01:41.They are on lap five of six. Perhaps he thinks he needs a head start,

:01:42. > :01:46.coming into transition. Perhaps he believes that if he breaks away

:01:47. > :01:50.coming out of transition, he can go on and win this race. The last time

:01:51. > :01:54.he won a world triathlon series was 12 months ago right here in Hamburg.

:01:55. > :02:02.Leading his brother in a Brownlee 1-2. Shaw from Ireland deciding to

:02:03. > :02:07.go with him, sensing the danger. Gomez has it covered as well. In

:02:08. > :02:11.turn, the rest of them respond. Pereira and Alistair Brownlee. They

:02:12. > :02:15.attempt to close the gap. The athletes certainly keeping this race

:02:16. > :02:22.very honest and very alive. Gomez sat in for a while, taking a bit of

:02:23. > :02:25.a breather. But he is back on, now. On the wheel of Benjamin Shaw from

:02:26. > :02:32.Ireland. Jonathan Brownlee lead them. Deep in lap five of the

:02:33. > :02:37.hairpin. -- leaves them. Brownlee going wider than he might have

:02:38. > :02:42.anticipated. The gap is a second to the next little group led by Joao

:02:43. > :02:46.Pereira. Alistair isn't too far behind. But it is Gomez who is

:02:47. > :02:50.settling things down, the world number one responded to the threat

:02:51. > :02:54.of Jonathan Brownlee. He is back at the front of the race.

:02:55. > :03:01.700 metres to go on two wheels. Starting to build towards its

:03:02. > :03:08.crescendo, here. As the front group eyeballed the chasers. With Richard

:03:09. > :03:14.Murray all of a sudden, responding, no he has work to do. Too much work

:03:15. > :03:17.to do. -- he knows. Joao Silva, a strong athlete. Another one of those

:03:18. > :03:23.athletes that has not had the greatest of seasons. Winner in

:03:24. > :03:29.Yokohama. Great to see Benjamin Shaw in such great shape, head of the

:03:30. > :03:36.Commonwealth games. -- ahead of. Taking his turn on the front. Hands

:03:37. > :03:42.down to the shoes, Velcro straps ripped apart. The line approaching.

:03:43. > :03:48.The end of the bike. After 20 kilometres on two wheels, they will

:03:49. > :03:52.get off and Sprint as fast as they can, carrying their breaks, wheeling

:03:53. > :03:57.their bikes towards the preassigned points in the assigned area --

:03:58. > :04:02.carrying their bikes. The Brownlee brothers arrived. Vincent Luis not

:04:03. > :04:05.far away. Javier Gomez Noya in seventh position. Some of the big

:04:06. > :04:10.names in the triathlon world in contention. Johnny arrives, bright

:04:11. > :04:14.orange shoes, right foot, left but, stumbled slightly. Needed to be in

:04:15. > :04:18.and out of that a bit quicker, Jonny Brownlee, he would have liked to

:04:19. > :04:22.have been. A glance over his shoulder to check everything went in

:04:23. > :04:28.his box. Memories of 2012 when he served that time penalty for getting

:04:29. > :04:31.on his bike to early. The two Frenchmen break first,

:04:32. > :04:35.on his bike to early. The two Raphael, but they will soon be

:04:36. > :04:39.caught. Javier Gomez With Jonathan Brownlee leaving just before him and

:04:40. > :04:46.Joao Pereira for company. On their way, the first lap. Two and a half

:04:47. > :04:47.kilometres. Twice, to be run, to complete the sprint distance in

:04:48. > :04:56.Hamburg. We have a group of three. We had the

:04:57. > :05:01.two Frenchmen and they are joined by Alistair Brownlee. He is the first

:05:02. > :05:06.to break. Can Alistair Brownlee crack this one over the shorter run

:05:07. > :05:11.distance of five kilometres? He gave Vincent Luis a little nudge, saying

:05:12. > :05:12.get off my shoulder. Wasn't so much a punch, but a slap to the

:05:13. > :05:22.Frenchmen. English meat in the French sandwich,

:05:23. > :05:28.Alistair Brownlee. Jonathan, Pereira and Gomez are trying to respond. But

:05:29. > :05:32.Alistair has gone to the front. He has kicked away, nice and early. The

:05:33. > :05:37.Germans will do their best to maintain some sort of... Degree of

:05:38. > :05:43.respect, here. But they are an likely to be able to mix in with

:05:44. > :05:48.this sort of speed. -- they are unlikely. Jonathan won last year

:05:49. > :05:54.head of Alistair and Gomez in third. These three also occupy the Olympic

:05:55. > :05:59.podium in 2012, Alistair taking the gold, Gomez the Silver, Jonathan the

:06:00. > :06:03.bronze. Their legacy of world triathlon series, World

:06:04. > :06:07.Championships and Olympic podium is is tremendous. They have Vincent

:06:08. > :06:11.Luis, the Frenchmen, as a bit of company -- podiums is tremendous.

:06:12. > :06:15.Luis is going well, let's see if he can keep up the pace. Deep in that

:06:16. > :06:25.one. Check out the difference in pace between the front four and the

:06:26. > :06:28.chasers. Rarer, Coninx, Raphael, Polyanski and Royle of Australia. --

:06:29. > :06:33.Pereira. We will keep an eye out for the men coming from behind, Mola Mac

:06:34. > :06:36.and Murray but they are a long way back after the bike. Quite surprised

:06:37. > :06:44.to see Pereira after his second-place Chicago and third place

:06:45. > :06:48.in London. -- in Chicago. Not looking as comfortable, this race

:06:49. > :06:51.doesn't suit some people, it is fast from the gun. We haven't seen one

:06:52. > :06:57.moment where the athletes have let up. Vincent Luis, Javier Gomez,

:06:58. > :07:04.Alistair and Jonathan Brownlee, towards the end of lap one. This one

:07:05. > :07:08.is building beautifully in Hamburg. What a scene, here. Very reminiscent

:07:09. > :07:11.of the Olympic triathlon in Hyde Park.

:07:12. > :07:18.We had the three same men involved and now the Frenchmen, Vincent Luis

:07:19. > :07:23.is up there as well. He was 11th in the Olympic games -- French man. He

:07:24. > :07:27.was in contention. Similar noise levels, similar spectator numbers,

:07:28. > :07:32.fabulous site. They take the Bell. -- fabulous site.

:07:33. > :07:41.-- he is looking for his fifth win of the season, the 31-year-old

:07:42. > :07:43.Spaniard from Bonn to venture, the north-western tip of Spain on the

:07:44. > :07:49.Atlantic coast. Nerve wracking stuff. The Brownlees have not looked

:07:50. > :07:50.over their shoulder but I am sure they are where Gomez is still with

:07:51. > :07:53.them. over their shoulder but I am sure

:07:54. > :07:57.they are where Gomez is still Henri Schoeman first out of the water but

:07:58. > :08:02.a racket run from the South African. The Germans roared through

:08:03. > :08:05.transition -- ragged run. Back at the front, all four men in

:08:06. > :08:10.contention over the cobbles. A stumble from Luis. Sometimes doesn't

:08:11. > :08:16.look as sure-footed as the three other men. In this dash over the

:08:17. > :08:19.last two kilometres in Hamburg. The Brownlee brothers, Luis of France,

:08:20. > :08:29.Gomez of Spain. Looking very relaxed, the Brownlee

:08:30. > :08:33.brothers. I have to say, perhaps back to their winning ways, but

:08:34. > :08:37.let's not speak too soon. Certainly in terms of their form. Alistair

:08:38. > :08:42.Brownlee looking very strong. The only time Gomez has not won a race

:08:43. > :08:46.this season, when he was beaten by his compatriot Mario Mola in a

:08:47. > :08:52.sprint competition. Is this pace a bit too fiery for Javier Gomez? In

:08:53. > :08:56.hamburg? No one has made a significant break yet on this second

:08:57. > :09:03.lap. Gomez doesn't look quite as comfortable as usual. He is in

:09:04. > :09:07.fourth of the leading group. What about Vincent Luis? Maybe he has

:09:08. > :09:12.come along, maybe Vincent Luis has come here to show what he is made

:09:13. > :09:18.of. And to spoil the potential ambitions of their Brownlee brothers

:09:19. > :09:24.and Javier Gomez. Back with the chasers. That is what they are

:09:25. > :09:29.looking at, long, long way down the road to the leading quartet. Coninx

:09:30. > :09:34.of France, Pereira of Portugal and Polyanski of Russia.

:09:35. > :09:40.Vincent Luis certainly been there or thereabouts throughout the season.

:09:41. > :09:44.As you said, seventh in Auckland and eight in Cape Town earlier this

:09:45. > :09:50.season. He has been steadily and quietly moving up the ranks. I

:09:51. > :09:52.thought he would be out of this game by now. But he is looking as strong

:09:53. > :09:55.as the Brownlees. by now. But he is looking as strong

:09:56. > :10:00.opening up a fraction over Javier by now. But he is looking as strong

:10:01. > :10:03.Gomez. There is a bit of by now. But he is looking as strong

:10:04. > :10:09.between the Brownlees and Luis and Gomez. As the Brownlee brothers hit

:10:10. > :10:13.the front. Jonathan takes it up from Alistair. Vincent Luis is trying to

:10:14. > :10:19.go with them. Gomez, it seems, has failed to go with them. That is the

:10:20. > :10:25.gap. Gomez kicks again. Doesn't want to see them go. Desperately hanging

:10:26. > :10:28.on to his position, here. Luis has responded positively. Gomez is

:10:29. > :10:32.trying to close the gap. He might still close it. He doesn't look

:10:33. > :10:38.quite finished yet, Javier Gomez. But that might be a significant move

:10:39. > :10:41.from Jonathan and Alistair Brownlee. When you go at this point, you have

:10:42. > :10:47.got to go, you can't let the guys get back on. Jonathan Brownlee at

:10:48. > :10:51.the front of the field, he won this race 12 months ago. He has his older

:10:52. > :10:57.brother, Alistair, for company. And the Frenchmen, Vance Vincent Luis,

:10:58. > :11:01.holding on to third. Gomez is dropping further behind. A gap of

:11:02. > :11:08.about two seconds between the leading three and the Spaniard. Of

:11:09. > :11:12.course, it is one of the only few races that Alistair Brownlee hasn't

:11:13. > :11:16.won on the world triathlon series. He will be thinking back to last

:11:17. > :11:20.year when he got outsprinted by his brother right on the line. Mario

:11:21. > :11:23.Mola moving up through the field, winner of the last sprint

:11:24. > :11:28.competition in London, but he won't win today with the last 800 metres

:11:29. > :11:31.or so for the leaders to run. Mola has left his charge too late, too

:11:32. > :11:35.slow in the water, could not get it going on the bike. As they come

:11:36. > :11:40.around the hairpin. Gomez is just about hanging on. Luis might get

:11:41. > :11:45.broken, this time. The Brownlees have spread across the road.

:11:46. > :11:50.Alistair has taken it up on the inside. Johnny tries to respond. He

:11:51. > :11:55.is leaving nothing to chance, he really isn't. But he has gone very

:11:56. > :12:00.early. Around about 500 metres to go. He is stamping down his mark,

:12:01. > :12:06.now. Alistair Brownlee breathing hard. Pumping with his arms. Johnny

:12:07. > :12:10.is not beaten, yet. Alistair, in the past, has gone a bit early and

:12:11. > :12:14.broken down before he has hit the line. Gomez appears to be beaten.

:12:15. > :12:19.Fourth looks like his consolation prize today. Alistair Brownlee is

:12:20. > :12:26.kicking away from his younger brother, Jonathan. Further back,

:12:27. > :12:30.Coninx, Polyanski and Pereira are battling on for the minor places.

:12:31. > :12:36.But out in front, Alistair Brownlee has 400 metres to run. He is

:12:37. > :12:38.sprinting clear of the field. Alistair Brownlee missed the first

:12:39. > :12:46.part of the season with injury, didn't have a great return, but he

:12:47. > :12:49.has saved his best. He is timing his peak to arrive in hamburg with his

:12:50. > :12:55.focus being the Commonwealth games. He is on the final straight, now. It

:12:56. > :12:59.looks like being a 1-2, for the Brownlee brothers from Britain.

:13:00. > :13:03.Alistair, the Olympic champion, Leeds Jonathan the Olympic

:13:04. > :13:09.bronze-medallist. Vincent Luis of France holding onto third. --

:13:10. > :13:12.leads. The world champion, Javier Gomez, beating back into fourth. A

:13:13. > :13:18.brilliant lead time timed performance from Alistair Brownlee.

:13:19. > :13:23.He is kicking away -- brilliantly timed. He is on the final straight,

:13:24. > :13:27.he went breakdown today. The Olympic champion shows what he is made of.

:13:28. > :13:32.Alistair Brownlee glances over his shoulder and injects one final

:13:33. > :13:37.burst. Vincent Luis has fought back to steal the lead from... Steal

:13:38. > :13:41.second from Jonathan Brownlee. Alistair will hold on and he takes

:13:42. > :13:45.the win in hamburg. Fantastic performance from Vincent Luis, to

:13:46. > :13:50.take second. Jonathan Brownlee has to settle for third. He was mailed

:13:51. > :13:57.on the finishing straight by Vincent Luis. The world champion, Javier

:13:58. > :14:13.Gomez Noya comes into fourth position. What a fantastic race.

:14:14. > :14:26.challenge of Joe Parreira and the French man. The first of the Germans

:14:27. > :14:34.is home. Absolutely shattered after his efforts. It was this man, with

:14:35. > :14:40.one final glance over his shoulder, to see that he had taken his first

:14:41. > :14:49.win of 2014 over the World Triathlon Series. Alastair Brownlee wins in

:14:50. > :14:55.Hamburg. Confirmation of the final results of the men's sprint in

:14:56. > :15:00.Hamburg. Magnificent victory for Alastair Brownlee with Vincent Luis

:15:01. > :15:04.in second. Gomez beaten today into fourth position. Matthew Sharp

:15:05. > :15:19.finished 12th for Great Britain. Congratulations on your first win in

:15:20. > :15:23.Hamburg. It is nice to win one finally. We were talking about how

:15:24. > :15:29.you seem to have a bit of a swagger this weekend. I have actually done

:15:30. > :15:33.some training. It is nice to turn up for a race when you know you are

:15:34. > :15:38.fit. It is more in your control. It looks like your plan is working and

:15:39. > :15:43.you are back on form, right in time for the Commonwealth Games. Fine and

:15:44. > :15:53.nothing goes quite to plan. I wanted to be as fit as I could board the

:15:54. > :15:57.Commonwealth Games. I am looking forward to it. -- for the

:15:58. > :16:06.Commonwealth Games. Sky it was very hard. It was really hard. I just

:16:07. > :16:13.tried to follow but I was not able to. I've tried to follow him. I did

:16:14. > :16:23.not think I would be able to do that. I wanted to win but I wanted

:16:24. > :16:29.to be in a race. Today was part of an actual race. It was great. I do

:16:30. > :16:36.not know what happened. Sometimes you get beaten up. On the bike,

:16:37. > :16:42.Alastair waited formed me. We were really pushing on the bike. It was a

:16:43. > :16:51.great part of the race. We saw you having a word with Mario Mola, what

:16:52. > :16:58.happened? He wanted to swim close. That is what happened. You get

:16:59. > :17:04.dragged through. Javier Gomez is a faster swimmer than me. I was

:17:05. > :17:07.getting battered with every stroke. That happens with the swimming. Nine

:17:08. > :17:14.times out of ten you get away with it. That time, every single stroke,

:17:15. > :17:20.it slows you down. It is like having someone sitting on your back. After

:17:21. > :17:35.six events, Javier Gomez still leads the standings.

:17:36. > :17:44.Welcome to the second day of racing in Hamburg. It really shows have

:17:45. > :17:48.this is not just a weekend of racing about the elites. This city is

:17:49. > :17:54.hosting the largest age group triathlon in the world. Around

:17:55. > :18:00.11,000 people are taking part this weekend. It is huge. We have the

:18:01. > :18:04.mixed relay World Championship is coming out. Let's debrief with Non

:18:05. > :18:15.Stanford. What was the mood like in the British camp? There was a

:18:16. > :18:19.massive sense of relief with the Brownlees. They wanted to finally

:18:20. > :18:23.show they are still there and they are still a force to be reckoned

:18:24. > :18:27.with. Generally pretty happy and pretty relieved, especially ahead of

:18:28. > :18:34.the next few weeks we have coming up. Do you see Helen at all? How is

:18:35. > :18:43.have that? Simon I think she is being overly cautious. -- I think

:18:44. > :18:48.she is being overly cautious. I think she is saving herself for

:18:49. > :18:52.Glasgow. It is the last time we have seen all the Commonwealth athletes

:18:53. > :18:57.in action before Glasgow 2014. Who do you think we will see on the

:18:58. > :19:03.podium at the Commonwealth Games? You can bet your money on Alastair

:19:04. > :19:08.and Johnny being on the podium. The third spot will be fairly hotly

:19:09. > :19:12.contested. You have the Australians, who are also pretty strong, the

:19:13. > :19:17.likes of Aaron Royle. In terms of the women, that is wide open. You

:19:18. > :19:25.have Emma Jackson and Kerstin Sweetman. Jodi Ewart-Shadoff was

:19:26. > :19:31.really happy with how race. I get the sense she has definitely got

:19:32. > :19:36.more to come. -- Jody Stimson was really happy with her race. Talking

:19:37. > :19:55.of the Commonwealth Games... Ian Thorpe is getting a standing

:19:56. > :19:59.ovation. He never faltered. He never slowed up. Commonwealth gold! It was

:20:00. > :20:26.so close. Do not forget the very first medal

:20:27. > :20:33.of the games will be awarded to the winner of the women's triathlon on

:20:34. > :20:38.4th of July. Anyone can come and watch any of the triathlon is for

:20:39. > :20:47.free in Strathclyde country Park. Do come and join us if you can. On July

:20:48. > :20:54.the 26th, the mixed relay makes its debut. In Hamburg, each of the team

:20:55. > :20:58.relay members will be running down this slope and diving into the

:20:59. > :21:00.water. How does the event work exactly? I will let the athletes

:21:01. > :21:18.explain. The

:21:19. > :21:34.two women, two men. The sprints. 6.6 kilometre bike. 1.6 kilometre run.

:21:35. > :21:49.Do not forget to tag. A spectacular start from the men. Maybe a few

:21:50. > :21:58.spills. And incredible atmosphere. I love the relay event. It is

:21:59. > :22:15.unpredictable and exciting. May the best team win! Simon could Great

:22:16. > :22:22.Britain. Spain. USA. The mixed team relay is fast, fun and serious. It

:22:23. > :22:26.can also be painful. I did come crashing out. It means GB start at

:22:27. > :22:34.the back of the pontoon. It will not make a difference in the long one.

:22:35. > :22:40.With the team relay, you are in a lot of pressure. Hopefully, this

:22:41. > :22:43.year, there will be more casualties. Jodie Stimson and Helen Jenkins had

:22:44. > :22:47.always planned not to take part because they do not want to risk

:22:48. > :22:56.injury ahead of the Commonwealth Games. Instead we have the key

:22:57. > :23:01.Holland and Lucy Hall. It will be a great chance for them to practice.

:23:02. > :23:05.Putting Lucy first is a really great choice. She is strong and fast.

:23:06. > :23:13.These things are important in team relay. It is about discussing who

:23:14. > :23:17.will go first in what order. I am sure I am confident they have chosen

:23:18. > :23:23.the best order for the team. The mixed team relay makes its debut in

:23:24. > :23:28.Glasgow. It is fun for us to watch as spectators. Do you enjoy it? It

:23:29. > :23:38.is really good. All the athletes love it. Racing is part of the team

:23:39. > :23:43.is fun. Hopefully we will see it now in 2020 in Tokyo. Time to find out

:23:44. > :23:45.which team can prove itself as the fastest triathlon nation in the

:23:46. > :23:54.world. Time to go back to our commentators.

:23:55. > :23:58.We have 17 teams lined up for the start of the mixed relay team

:23:59. > :24:11.championship in Hamburg. They are ready to go. The Germans

:24:12. > :24:15.are the defending champions. They won this title on home soil 12

:24:16. > :24:21.months ago and Great Britain did not finish. It is a shorter course. It

:24:22. > :24:28.is a 300 metres swim, followed by a cycle of 6.6 calamities and then a

:24:29. > :24:33.run of 1.6 kilometres. -- kilometres. Each triathletes does

:24:34. > :24:39.the whole circuit before handing over to the next in their team. So,

:24:40. > :24:50.it is the e-mail, mail, e-mail, mail. That is the way it works.

:24:51. > :24:57.Always a terrific event to watch. They won it in 2011 and in 2012. Non

:24:58. > :25:01.Stanford have that nasty crash last year which took the Great Britain

:25:02. > :25:04.team out. This year they are building a very strong team indeed.

:25:05. > :25:18.Jonathan Brownlee, Alistair Brownlee, the key Holland and Lucy

:25:19. > :25:22.Hall. With the Commonwealth Games so close, it is probably important they

:25:23. > :25:27.do rest up a bit and recover from the racing yesterday. On the

:25:28. > :25:33.left-hand side, Lucy Hall, with the Spaniard alongside her. No surprise

:25:34. > :25:38.that the Spanish athlete is right up there with Lucy Hall. They are among

:25:39. > :25:40.the best summers in the field today. The decision is very tactical from

:25:41. > :25:44.the coaches as to who they put The decision is very tactical from

:25:45. > :25:49.first. They probably want to save the best for last but it is

:25:50. > :25:57.important to get your speedy swim up there and get the break early on in

:25:58. > :26:03.the race. -- speedy swimmer. These athletes are used to racing 1.5,

:26:04. > :26:11.tours of the full Olympic distance. Yesterday it was 700 metres for the

:26:12. > :26:18.sprint. -- 1.5 kilometres. They are about to exit the water and pick up

:26:19. > :26:25.the bikes for a 3.3 kilometre ride. Out of the water comes Lucy Hall.

:26:26. > :26:36.She is wearing 18, the team number, and one, has starting position in

:26:37. > :26:43.the team on her arm. Lucy Hall and Mexico out and Italy. France have

:26:44. > :26:50.been St Louis going a little later. He was second behind Alistair

:26:51. > :26:55.Brownlee yesterday. -- Vincent Luis. She makes her way across the carpet,

:26:56. > :27:04.which is wet, after the rain that has fallen. That is the French team

:27:05. > :27:13.coming in. Cassandra is first in for France. Keeping an eye out for the

:27:14. > :27:20.performance of Rebecca Robisch. They are trying to keep this as

:27:21. > :27:25.aerodynamic as possible. New Zealand word the runners-up and silver

:27:26. > :27:35.medallists 12 months ago. Their team a year ago was totally different.

:27:36. > :27:39.They have a brand-new team now. Interesting that New Zealand have

:27:40. > :27:44.put out a completely fresh team. None of their guys raced yesterday.

:27:45. > :27:53.The South Africans have used that tactic as well. None of the athletes

:27:54. > :27:54.have raced in the individual event. A tight turn into the narrow streets

:27:55. > :28:15.of the city of Hamburg. Time for caution. They are setting

:28:16. > :28:22.up for the second transition, the arrival. They are hanging up their

:28:23. > :28:26.bikes and putting on running shoes. They are getting prepared the

:28:27. > :28:30.transition. One or two of them are reaching down to grip of the Velcro

:28:31. > :28:40.straps and rest that beat on top of the shoes which will stay attached

:28:41. > :28:44.to the pedals. -- bare feet. Lucy has struggled to maintain control of

:28:45. > :28:53.her bike. This is the problem Lucy Hall had. She bumped her front wheel

:28:54. > :28:54.on the dismount line and overshot her parking spot before tidying

:28:55. > :29:17.things up. Lucy Hall is far in the distance.

:29:18. > :29:24.You can just see her, she is behind the South African. She was quickest

:29:25. > :29:26.out of the water, she led the way on the bike. Now some way in the

:29:27. > :29:39.distance. The Americans will look to Ben. To

:29:40. > :29:41.give them something to get excited about in their second leg. The

:29:42. > :29:57.Germans have Steffen Justus. Rebecca Robisch leave them into the

:29:58. > :30:08.transition. . Steffen Justus burst away. A slip from one of the

:30:09. > :30:14.reaching the end of her mini triathlon.

:30:15. > :30:21.Spectacular entry to the water. Everybody looking for is bring off

:30:22. > :30:25.the pontoon. An explosive start to the 300 metres swim. Things could

:30:26. > :30:31.change. Lucy Hall handing over to Jonathan Brownlee stop Justus coming

:30:32. > :30:43.down and into the water. Toth of hungry. Coninx of France. Hot on his

:30:44. > :30:48.heels. It is a 300 metres swim followed by a 6.6 kilometre bike

:30:49. > :30:55.ride. And a 1.6 kilometre run to finish.

:30:56. > :31:03.Then has one beautifully. About to exit the water. He puts the United

:31:04. > :31:07.States in first position. Out of the water, on his way to pick up his

:31:08. > :31:11.bike. His swim hat is off with his couples as well. The Italians

:31:12. > :31:16.made up ground with Alessandro Fabian, always quick through the

:31:17. > :31:22.water. The hump Aryans have lost no ground. Australia in full. Then

:31:23. > :31:27.France, Hungary and Germany. The Netherlands, Japan and Mexico. Jonny

:31:28. > :31:32.Brownlee has closed the gap. It has gone from 15 seconds to only ten.

:31:33. > :31:39.Jonny Brownlee about to arrive in transition. We focus on Justus, who

:31:40. > :31:44.picks up his bike. Helmet on. Donnie Brownlee is just picking up his. And

:31:45. > :31:51.attempting to close the gap, which was ten seconds, coming out.

:31:52. > :31:56.Brownlee, one of the best riders. He is on board, pushing hard already.

:31:57. > :31:57.Gomez on his way. Gomez, with work to do. Hazy sunshine this afternoon

:31:58. > :32:06.in hamburg. Back with the leaders. Jonny

:32:07. > :32:09.Brownlee, we can see him on his own, fighting to get back on his

:32:10. > :32:15.own. Jonny Brownlee, top of the screen.

:32:16. > :32:24.Seven seconds behind. Brownlee has done some damage already. There is a

:32:25. > :32:31.bit of a gap to this group. Behind this group is Gomez. Gomez has a lot

:32:32. > :32:32.to do. Just caught sight of him. In the all right. Pretty well spread,

:32:33. > :32:44.now. Those are our leaders. We can have a good look to see where

:32:45. > :32:46.the other riders are. Making the turn. And then Jonny Brownlee. It

:32:47. > :32:55.won't be long before he joins them. The Brownlee brothers trained so

:32:56. > :32:59.hard. You think if anyone can recover from racing one day and then

:33:00. > :33:03.the next day, it is then. They are training hard, just about seven days

:33:04. > :33:07.a week -- it is both of them. Johnny said there was nothing to do in San

:33:08. > :33:10.Moritz this time of year in his interview apart from train, it and

:33:11. > :33:15.sleep. That is all they have done, training, eating and sleeping.

:33:16. > :33:19.Altitude training makes a massive difference. Jonny Brownlee is just

:33:20. > :33:22.about to reach the lead. He has come about the last corner. By the time

:33:23. > :33:27.they hang up their bikes, he will be with him. -- with them. Great

:33:28. > :33:36.Britain are right back in this. It will be interesting to see how

:33:37. > :33:40.Vicky Holland goes. She will be swimming, riding and running the

:33:41. > :33:43.third leg for Great Britain. And then handing over to Alistair

:33:44. > :33:48.Brownlee. Great Britain have won this title twice, but didn't finish

:33:49. > :33:52.12 months ago. The Germans are the defending champions. British quartet

:33:53. > :33:58.would love to beat them in their backyard here this afternoon. France

:33:59. > :34:03.first, Italy second and then Germany, Australia, the USA, the

:34:04. > :34:07.Netherlands, Japan and Hungary. That is the front eight. Jonny Brownlee

:34:08. > :34:12.is hot on their heels, followed by Brazil. And then a gap of three or

:34:13. > :34:19.four others and then Javier Gomez Noya.

:34:20. > :34:24.Amongst this group of nine there is no doubt who the best when it is,

:34:25. > :34:29.Jonathan Brownlee. You could give Vicky Holland a decent lead -- he

:34:30. > :34:37.could give. He only has 1.6 climate is to run. 850-metre lap, 770 before

:34:38. > :34:43.he hands over to Vicky Holland, to dive into the road. -- 1.6

:34:44. > :34:46.kilometres to run. He could give her advantage if he sprints away from

:34:47. > :34:50.this group after they hang up their bikes. Johnny edges to the left, the

:34:51. > :34:54.riders left and takes his place at the front. That might be a surprise

:34:55. > :35:00.to one or two of them, who would not have seen him during most of the

:35:01. > :35:05.ride. He appears with the union Jack suit leading them through.

:35:06. > :35:12.These guys try to do some damage to the lead that the lead group have

:35:13. > :35:21.opened up. Jonathan Brownlee needing them through. Alistair will swim,

:35:22. > :35:27.bike and run the anchor link today. -- length today. As they prepare to

:35:28. > :35:33.transition. Let's see how quickly Jonny Brownlee gets the transition

:35:34. > :35:38.done and whether he can break quickly from the carpet and hit the

:35:39. > :35:44.run with speed. Looking for that first peg. A quick shuffle to the

:35:45. > :35:48.right. Helmet off, looking for his running shoes. The others are

:35:49. > :35:53.looking for their bike parking positions. They should see Jonathan

:35:54. > :35:56.Brownlee run past them, as he exits transition on his way through.

:35:57. > :36:01.Justus has dropped his bike, he will have to prop that up. Steffen Justus

:36:02. > :36:07.White get penalised. They are on their way for the mile on foot --

:36:08. > :36:12.might get. His bike has gone down. A bit of a mess of that transition.

:36:13. > :36:17.Justus having to prop it up before he sprinted out of transition.

:36:18. > :36:23.Brownlee taking it up at the front, bouncing along, looking pretty

:36:24. > :36:31.relaxed. Coninx in second. The Australian, Royle, next. And then

:36:32. > :36:35.the Hungary and, I think. Toth Has done well. He has to go back, Connex

:36:36. > :36:45.has missed the turn. What a mess for Coninx. Missed the final: -- final:

:36:46. > :36:51.the official having to repair the damage, that was a problem for

:36:52. > :36:58.Coninx. Royle knocked it over. Coninx missed the turn. Vicky

:36:59. > :37:01.Holland is waiting to go, she will be first to leave because Jonathan

:37:02. > :37:07.will be first to finish. He is stretching his legs, now. Final

:37:08. > :37:12.stages of the run for Jonathan Brownlee. He is into the transition

:37:13. > :37:17.area. He has opened up a decent lead over Aaron Royle, who will hand over

:37:18. > :37:21.to Emma Jackson. It will be Emma Jackson's job to try and close the

:37:22. > :37:27.gap on Vicky Holland in the water. Vicky Holland will hope for a clean

:37:28. > :37:31.changeover, here. And a quick departure. She is on her way,

:37:32. > :37:36.heading in the opposite direction, heading back towards the water.

:37:37. > :37:41.Royle the arrives to tag Emma Jackson -- Royle arrives. A big

:37:42. > :37:45.run-up towards this diving start. The French change next, having lost

:37:46. > :37:52.a lot of ground. Vicky Holland into the water. 300 metres to swim. Well

:37:53. > :37:56.done, Johnny, you get my man of the match award.

:37:57. > :38:01.Still Alistair to come. But I knew they would give everything.

:38:02. > :38:09.We knew Lucy would give us a head start with that room but it is now

:38:10. > :38:13.with Vicky and Alice, I have done my bit. You are only halfway through,

:38:14. > :38:18.but have you got your tactics spot on so far? With all due respect Lucy

:38:19. > :38:23.is our weakest leg. She is not the best manner. We have used our

:38:24. > :38:28.weakest leg. Vicky is a good athlete -- best runner. Good luck to the

:38:29. > :38:30.team, we will speak to you at the end.

:38:31. > :38:36.COMMENTATOR: And leading for Great Britain at the end of her swim.

:38:37. > :38:41.Handed a significant lead by Jonathan Brownlee. Closed the gap on

:38:42. > :38:45.the bike and then left the others behind on the run. Vicky Holland,

:38:46. > :38:51.the beneficiary of that hard work from Jonathan Brownlee. She has

:38:52. > :38:53.three swimmers not too far behind, attempting to close the gap. This

:38:54. > :39:00.needs to be a smooth, faultless exit attempting to close the gap. This

:39:01. > :39:05.of the water for Holland. She needs to arrive and get on her bike

:39:06. > :39:09.without any trouble. And leave the transition area in good shape. The

:39:10. > :39:13.Hungary, the Australian and the French athlete not too far behind.

:39:14. > :39:19.The Hungary and swimmer, this time around is Margit Vanek. They have

:39:20. > :39:22.failed to close the gap to Vicky Holland, who comes out of the water

:39:23. > :39:29.for Great Britain. On and on her way. No one in that third gap of any

:39:30. > :39:34.note as a cyclist. Emma Jackson is known for sitting in the pack,

:39:35. > :39:37.letting the other girls get in. Margit Vanek from Hungary finished

:39:38. > :39:44.in 50th place. The French goal is new to this style of racing, she did

:39:45. > :39:47.not race yesterday -- French girl. A good position for Vicky Holland

:39:48. > :39:50.Great Britain to be in. Vicky Holland should leave transition

:39:51. > :39:57.before the others have even picked up their bikes. Margit Vanek in.

:39:58. > :40:06.Jackson behind her. Holland has not yet got to the mount up line. Margit

:40:07. > :40:08.Vanek picks up her bike. It should have Jackson for company. They might

:40:09. > :40:14.be able to work together to have Jackson for company. They might

:40:15. > :40:20.the gap to Vicky Holland. The only member of the team that took the

:40:21. > :40:24.gold 12 months ago of Germany. To return in 2014. The Russians and

:40:25. > :40:30.Brazilians are on their way. Let's see how long Vicky Holland can hold

:40:31. > :40:36.this league. Out with the leader. Vicky Holland hasn't quite got the

:40:37. > :40:41.shoes attached to the feet yet. A bit of d?j? vu. This time last year

:40:42. > :40:45.Great Britain were in exactly the same position. With Stamford out in

:40:46. > :40:50.the lead. She had the unfortunate crash.

:40:51. > :40:54.Holland comfortable, it correctly positioned in her shoes. Looking

:40:55. > :41:01.down at the bike. Everything going well. On her way, on the first of

:41:02. > :41:04.two laps on her bike. 6.6 kilometres in total.

:41:05. > :41:13.We have the Netherlands rider and Gwen Jorgensen of the USA. Swapping

:41:14. > :41:22.places for Gwen Jorgensen to take the third leg.

:41:23. > :41:33.Hard work being done by Vicky Holland. I hope she has saved some

:41:34. > :41:41.explosive speed for the mile run to come. If Great Britain go on to win

:41:42. > :41:45.the gold medal here then Vicky Holland will be seen as the hero of

:41:46. > :41:50.the peace. She has done incredible work over the two laps, almost two

:41:51. > :42:00.laps of this bride. In the chase group about to merge. -- this ride.

:42:01. > :42:04.Five become six, here. Knapp Means business, she knows how important

:42:05. > :42:09.this ride is. Knapp Has brought Germany back to leadership here.

:42:10. > :42:19.Knapp, Holland and Jackson, Emma Jackson, last but one of that group.

:42:20. > :42:23.She will be the one to watch at the start of the run. Anja Knapp will

:42:24. > :42:36.hope to give Germany a chance. The anchored being swung, ridden and run

:42:37. > :42:43.by the German. Could be a battle between them. I know who I would

:42:44. > :42:47.have my money on. Who? Not someone by the selling of Brownlee? ! It is

:42:48. > :42:52.great to see the Brownlees so up for this team racing -- by the surname.

:42:53. > :42:56.Even though they put so much into individual facing. They know how

:42:57. > :42:59.important it is to showcase this event -- individual racing. To

:43:00. > :43:04.perhaps maybe one day make this an Olympic event.

:43:05. > :43:09.Six riders together. Ready for Vicky Holland, not having to work on her

:43:10. > :43:20.own, she can draft in behind Anja Knapp the final stage of this 6.6,

:43:21. > :43:22.to ride. -- 6.6 kilometre. Interesting to see what Alistair

:43:23. > :43:26.does in his leg. When there is a bigger pack there is a tendency to

:43:27. > :43:32.save energy, but that is not normally his tactic. I will the

:43:33. > :43:36.Alistair give a flat out right for the final leg of the Olympic relay.

:43:37. > :43:43.We have to hope Vicky Holland can safely finish her 1.6 kilometre run.

:43:44. > :43:48.That is what is common -- coming next. Anja Knapp has moved up to

:43:49. > :43:53.fourth in readiness for transition. Here they come. Knapp Roared through

:43:54. > :43:56.transition onto the blue carpet, delighted to see she managed to

:43:57. > :44:02.close the gap over that second by clap. Germany in first, Australia

:44:03. > :44:07.second -- second bike lap. France, Great Britain, also involved. It

:44:08. > :44:11.won't be long until Gwen Jorgensen arrives with her group in

:44:12. > :44:15.transition. The US they are not out of this, yet. Vicky Holland going at

:44:16. > :44:21.first had a splendid transition, no mistakes. Knapp Just behind her.

:44:22. > :44:25.Jackson got left behind, that wasn't such a clever transition for Emma

:44:26. > :44:26.Jackson, who has to immediately work hard and try to peg back the

:44:27. > :44:37.leaders. speed from her after she parks her

:44:38. > :44:51.bike. If anything, it is trying to get a

:44:52. > :44:55.bit of time, gain a bit of time for your team-mate is important. Having

:44:56. > :45:03.the space to tag over to Alistair and not get involved with others

:45:04. > :45:12.around you. Holland will be caught. They are a group of four running

:45:13. > :45:22.together. Holland are not looking -- is not looking as relaxed as normal.

:45:23. > :45:30.This is the cone that called out the French man. No problem for the first

:45:31. > :45:37.six women to make the turn. Meanwhile, they will all be given a

:45:38. > :45:41.reminder of the presence of when yorgensen, as they eyeball her going

:45:42. > :45:56.one way as they head back towards transition. -- when yorgensen.

:45:57. > :46:07.Just having an eye on the French man. The next athlete in line for

:46:08. > :46:13.France and the file athlete to go out will be Lewis Vincent. He raced

:46:14. > :46:19.so well yesterday and proved he is well back in contention. He was

:46:20. > :46:21.damaged in by the two Brownlee brothers. France are going really

:46:22. > :46:38.strongly now. One lap to go on the run with under

:46:39. > :46:44.an hour of this four leg next triathlon relay complete. Vicky

:46:45. > :46:49.Holland has kept Great Britain 's hopes very much alive. Emma Jackson

:46:50. > :46:53.about to go shoulder to shoulder with Holland and about to go past

:46:54. > :47:00.her. The German are struggling with the pace. She is being encouraged by

:47:01. > :47:01.the crowds in transition but she has let the front five get away from

:47:02. > :47:23.her. I am not sure that can do much about

:47:24. > :47:40.that. Coming up to 500 metres to go on the clock. The key Hall cannot

:47:41. > :47:49.afford to lose any set -- the key Hall -- Vicky Holland cannot lose

:47:50. > :47:51.any seconds. Jackson leads for Australia. The Italian in second.

:47:52. > :48:00.Then France. Holland in fourth. Australia. The Italian in second.

:48:01. > :48:06.Alistair Brownlee is waiting to pick up the rays for Great Britain.

:48:07. > :48:10.Wilson of Australia with the handlebar moustache. He is ready for

:48:11. > :48:13.the changeover. Jackson might just tag him powerful he will be no match

:48:14. > :48:22.for Alistair Brownlee in the water, on the bike, or on the run. This,

:48:23. > :48:25.barring an accident, we can keep our fingers crossed for Great Britain

:48:26. > :48:37.here. This is Alistair Brownlee 's race to win. Gwen Jorgensen does not

:48:38. > :48:41.have enough time or milage to close the gap. Australia will be in first,

:48:42. > :48:55.then the Italians. France will hand over to Vincent

:48:56. > :49:03.Luis, who was on the podium yesterday and Vicky Holland will tag

:49:04. > :49:05.to Alistair Brownlee. He is on his way. Surely it will not be long

:49:06. > :49:10.to Alistair Brownlee. He is on his before he is up with the leaders. On

:49:11. > :49:25.his way goes the last of the Germans, Gregor Buchholz. We know

:49:26. > :49:35.about the swimming capabilities of in St Louis. Alistair Brownlee is in

:49:36. > :49:40.third position. -- Vincent Luis. The Olympic champion, the winner here of

:49:41. > :49:44.the men's individual 24 hours ago, is up into third position and he can

:49:45. > :49:53.just dictate this race from here on in. With his abilities on the bike,

:49:54. > :49:58.I imagine he will ride with three or four other guys here. Maybe take his

:49:59. > :50:03.turn at the front and then, by the time they hang up their bikes, and

:50:04. > :50:09.hit the final leg, the one mile run, Alistair, assuming he stayed on his

:50:10. > :50:16.feet, will be thinking about a gold medal. In St Louis first out of the

:50:17. > :50:24.water. The Hungarian comes out of the water in force. Vincent Luis

:50:25. > :50:34.injects a bit of pace on the way towards his bike. Expect these five

:50:35. > :50:39.men to ride as a group. Interesting what you said. Alistair went

:50:40. > :50:43.yesterday with 500 metres to go. He decided he would not want to be in a

:50:44. > :50:50.sprint finish with his brother. I wonder when he will go this time. He

:50:51. > :51:02.needs to have a safe bike first. The road surfaces slippery. -- surface

:51:03. > :51:09.is slippery. There are a few licks. They both know they are running

:51:10. > :51:14.about as fast as one another. -- a view looks. They want to keep the

:51:15. > :51:22.pace on. There is no threat from behind in third and fourth place in

:51:23. > :51:27.terms of running pedigree. Alistair Brownlee and Vincent Luis out there

:51:28. > :51:36.and Alistair Brownlee is in a class of his own. Alistair Brownlee and

:51:37. > :51:42.Vincent Luis has stretched their lead to about eight, nine seconds,

:51:43. > :51:53.to the next pair from Hungary and Australia. It will come down to a

:51:54. > :51:59.one mile foot race between Brownlee and in St Louis. It's will go right

:52:00. > :52:10.down to the wire, potentially. -- Vincent Luis. They will have two do

:52:11. > :52:17.it again today. I two with the third and fourth place, he starts to

:52:18. > :52:35.prepare his cycling shoes. Brownlee be first to park his bike. Alistair

:52:36. > :52:39.has responded. Alistair will park his bike right here, turning right

:52:40. > :52:47.now. In it goes. Cycle helmet in, running shoes on. Vincent Luis is

:52:48. > :52:57.still jogging towards his station. Left one on and write one goes on.

:52:58. > :53:04.Alistair has burst away. Vincent Luis gets away just in time to hold

:53:05. > :53:10.onto first position. Brownlee is keen to pick it up early. He is

:53:11. > :53:14.trying to stretch the Frenchman. He has responded. He has it covered at

:53:15. > :53:27.this stage. As they hit the cobbles, a bit wet, a bit slippery underfoot.

:53:28. > :53:29.Meanwhile, the others are doing battle down the field. Alistair

:53:30. > :53:35.Brownlee not just running for his own gold medal but for a gold medal

:53:36. > :53:49.for Lucy Hall, his brother Jonathan and his team-mates. The French team

:53:50. > :53:54.have done sterling work so far. No letup in the pace as Brownlee grits

:53:55. > :54:02.his teeth. Then through macro Great Britain really working hard. The

:54:03. > :54:10.pain is etched all over his face. -- Great Britain really working hard.

:54:11. > :54:17.It is time for Vincent Luis to where the pain here in Hamburg. Surely

:54:18. > :54:23.Alistair Brownlee will win gold. He is clear of bin St Louis. He has

:54:24. > :54:29.nothing left to offer. -- Vincent Luis. What are displayed from

:54:30. > :54:40.Alistair Brownlee, the Olympic champion! -- what a display. It

:54:41. > :54:47.hurts so much but it is worthwhile as Great Britain will take the World

:54:48. > :54:52.Championship title here in Hamburg. The French man is trying to close

:54:53. > :54:54.the gap. He fought back to steal second place

:54:55. > :54:58.the gap. He fought back to steal yesterday that he cannot beat

:54:59. > :55:01.Alistair here today. Great Britain are world champions in Hamburg.

:55:02. > :55:09.Another fabulous finish from Alistair Brownlee, who is embraced

:55:10. > :55:13.by Vicky Holland, Jonathan Brownlee and Lucy Hall will not be too far

:55:14. > :55:17.away as well. Silver for the French team, and excellent performance.

:55:18. > :55:29.Hungary take the bronze. A fine finish by them. Here are the final

:55:30. > :55:31.results. A gold for Great Britain. Silver for France and a bronze for

:55:32. > :55:41.Hungary. Congratulations. You'll Third World

:55:42. > :55:54.title in the mixed relay championships. -- your Third World

:55:55. > :56:02.title. It is nice racing as a team. We had a good day today. You have

:56:03. > :56:09.been part of all the teams. You are the most successful member. Thank

:56:10. > :56:13.you. I have done three now, 13 and did not start one of them. It is

:56:14. > :56:20.better than last year, I suppose. It is great. It is awesome to race. It

:56:21. > :56:26.is fast and furious. I am pleased to be world champion. At least I have

:56:27. > :56:32.won something. You are the new be in the team. How does it feel? Really

:56:33. > :56:39.good. The crowds were amazing. Racing as a team is a really cool

:56:40. > :56:44.experience. I cannot really believe we are world champions. I think you

:56:45. > :56:53.had the hardest job actually. You had to hold off grain yorgensen.

:56:54. > :56:57.That was the aim of the day and if possible the French team. I went

:56:58. > :57:01.hard all day. I got caught by the group at the end of the bike. I

:57:02. > :57:11.wanted to give Alistair the best possible chance. Congratulations to

:57:12. > :57:22.you all. Champions of the world 2014. Great Britain have their title

:57:23. > :57:25.back. Really exciting. Great to see them back on top of the podium.

:57:26. > :57:31.Initially I was worried about the order. In the end they came out on

:57:32. > :57:37.top so it does not matter. Fantastic. It bodes well for team

:57:38. > :57:45.England. View our team Wales that does bode well for them. Simon and

:57:46. > :57:54.that is a fantastic performance. -- I know you are team Wales. It is

:57:55. > :57:57.fantastic. Thank you for keeping me company this weekend. It is the

:57:58. > :58:01.Third World title for Great Britain in the mixed relay. They makes them

:58:02. > :58:06.the most successful nation in that event. As for the World Triathlon

:58:07. > :58:10.Series, six races down and two to go. We will be back for the

:58:11. > :58:14.penultimate race of the season at Stockholm on 21st of August. It is

:58:15. > :58:19.the final men's and women's sprint races of the season back-to-back.

:58:23. > :58:34.would then have extended highlights of both races for you. That will be

:58:35. > :58:37.on BBC Two. Before Stockholm, comes Glasgow. See you there.
