:01:17. > :01:17.# You love is so high

:01:18. > :01:33.# You feel me up with So, this is it - the 2016 World

:01:34. > :01:37.Triathlon series grand finale. After nine rounds of pulsating action

:01:38. > :01:42.across the global, we are down to two races to go. With both the men's

:01:43. > :01:45.and the women's title up for grabs and even the chance of British

:01:46. > :01:50.success, we are set for one thrilling finish.

:01:51. > :01:55.Now, as you can probably see, myself and Annie here are not on the

:01:56. > :01:59.Mexican island of Cozumel, where the grand minute farly is taking place.

:02:00. > :02:04.However, we will bring you all of the action from the BBC's HQ here in

:02:05. > :02:09.Salford. That is a silver lining, isn't it? It is not a bad one. Here

:02:10. > :02:15.is a test. Ahead of the women's race we will hear from reigning world

:02:16. > :02:19.champion Gwen Jorgensen, who is out to win a third consecutive world

:02:20. > :02:25.title. If she wants to hold on to that she'll have to overcome Flora

:02:26. > :02:31.Duffy from Bermuda. And the British women are out in force, led by Vicky

:02:32. > :02:35.Holland who is celebrating from her medal success in Rio. She has been

:02:36. > :02:41.talking about what has changed since that day. Later on we will look

:02:42. > :02:44.ahead to Sunday's men's race, which will see the Brownlees reunited for

:02:45. > :02:48.the final time this season. This time they are looking to give

:02:49. > :02:52.Johnnie a chance of glory. I can tell you the temperature here in

:02:53. > :03:00.Salford is pushing 25 Celsius. Warm enough. Who needs to go to Mexico?

:03:01. > :03:04.Having said that the weather in Mexico will be sticky. We have heard

:03:05. > :03:07.humidity up into the 90s. That will be something to contend with. We

:03:08. > :03:16.will talk about the women's race shortly. This season has been

:03:17. > :03:21.something else. Seven different winners, how would you assess it? It

:03:22. > :03:26.has been a fascinating season. More importantly it is an Olympic year.

:03:27. > :03:30.Gwen has raced less. Let's not take anything away from the other

:03:31. > :03:36.winners. We've had three British wins which has been fantastic. Gwen

:03:37. > :03:39.winning two races. Katie from the United States won and Flora Duffy,

:03:40. > :03:45.that great solo victory when she rode away from the rest of the field

:03:46. > :03:51.to take the Stockholm race. It's been an interesting series across

:03:52. > :03:58.the board. Last time out, in Edmonton, we saw the emergence of

:03:59. > :04:04.Cook leading a one, two, three for her and America. Are we seeing a

:04:05. > :04:08.Changing of the Guard? She does need to improve her bike a little bit.

:04:09. > :04:14.The key elements of triathlon these days are the swim and the run. She

:04:15. > :04:18.has both of those. She needs to when her technical skills -- hone her

:04:19. > :04:24.technical skills on the bike. Looking over the last year she's a

:04:25. > :04:28.strong runner. She ran a race, and she won Edmonton a couple of weeks

:04:29. > :04:33.ago. She's an athlete to look out for in the future. You heard it

:04:34. > :04:37.there. We will talk about the British women soon. Arguably they

:04:38. > :04:41.have the best strength and depth of all of the nations. Having said

:04:42. > :04:43.that, with a successful university recruitment programme, the United

:04:44. > :04:50.States are looking more and more powerful. Not least helped by their

:04:51. > :04:57.Olympic champion, Gwen Jorgensen. To be the first American to win gold

:04:58. > :05:02.for triathlon is pretty incredible. Triathlon was started in the US. It

:05:03. > :05:06.is a good homecoming. It is pretty emotional for me. I've put a lot of

:05:07. > :05:13.years of work and dedication into it.

:05:14. > :05:22.THE COMMENTATOR: Gwen Jorgensen is the triathlon champion... It is a

:05:23. > :05:27.way for me to invest in me. What is life like back home? I have not been

:05:28. > :05:29.back home since.ly go home for the first time since December after this

:05:30. > :05:34.race. It has been different, but all good things. For me, I hope I can

:05:35. > :05:38.inspire the younger generation and get people active and involved in

:05:39. > :05:42.triathlon. I had one gold this year in 2016,

:05:43. > :05:48.that was to win the Rio Olympics. I said if I did that I would be happy

:05:49. > :05:52.and I am happy. The World Triathlon series race is

:05:53. > :05:56.just the icing on the cake. I do have the opportunity to win. It's

:05:57. > :06:01.not in my complete control either. For me, I am excited to go out there

:06:02. > :06:06.and do my best. The conditions here, it is hot and

:06:07. > :06:09.it is energy-zapping. You are looking forward to this weekend,

:06:10. > :06:12.rntd you? I would rather it this way. I don't perform well in the

:06:13. > :06:19.cold. The heat will play a factor on

:06:20. > :06:23.everyone. It affects me less than other people. And so I say, bring it

:06:24. > :06:28.on. After this, what are your plans?

:06:29. > :06:33.Where do you go from here? I have no plans after this. I don't. I have a

:06:34. > :06:39.couple of races on the schedule. I am doing the Island House in the

:06:40. > :06:44.Bahamas and after that doing a marathon. I always wanted to do a

:06:45. > :06:47.marathon, the last four years I couldn't because I was focussing on

:06:48. > :06:51.Rio. It is a good opportunity for me to go out and do something I have

:06:52. > :06:56.always wanted to do. You said running a marathon is like your idea

:06:57. > :07:03.of going to Disneyland. Yes. So, a lot of people after you win a gold

:07:04. > :07:08.medal they say they go to Disneyland or Disney World, the happiest place

:07:09. > :07:12.on earth. For me my happy place is running the marathon. It is my happy

:07:13. > :07:16.place. It is a little reward for myself, I guess. It is incredible to

:07:17. > :07:25.think just what Gwen Jorgensen has done in the last six years. She was

:07:26. > :07:27.an accountant and now she's the Olympic World Triathlon champion.

:07:28. > :07:33.What she's done is amazing. Three things are key. One, she's

:07:34. > :07:37.phenomenally talented. She's incredibly foes theed and --

:07:38. > :07:41.focussed and her team around her and her husband have made it that much

:07:42. > :07:45.more, I don't want to use the word, easier. But they have been a huge

:07:46. > :07:49.part of her success. It is important to have that support network around

:07:50. > :07:53.you to get to the top and Gwen Jorgensen has done that. She's

:07:54. > :07:58.talked about doing the New York marathon, as one of her new goals

:07:59. > :08:02.and starting a family as well. So, where do you think she'll be over

:08:03. > :08:06.the course of the next t four years? In my opinion it is difficult to say

:08:07. > :08:10.because you don't know what is going on behind closed doored. It would be

:08:11. > :08:14.a surprise to see her in Tokyo. She'll do the marathon, she

:08:15. > :08:19.mentioned New York - it will be incredible to see. She's put a huge

:08:20. > :08:23.amount of pressure and given 100% to the last four years. I don't know if

:08:24. > :08:28.we will see her in Tokyo. She will go out and try new things. Tokyo is

:08:29. > :08:32.to come. She's got an important date to do just now. Let's see the

:08:33. > :08:37.standings, then, shall we? Flora Duffy leading the way. There

:08:38. > :08:40.are a bunch of girls who could come from behind and do something in

:08:41. > :08:46.Mexico. The world title is open. We are coming down to a Duffy/Jorgensen

:08:47. > :08:50.fight. There are four or five girls behind them, they are all capable of

:08:51. > :08:54.winning the race. It is points-and-a-half. That can change a

:08:55. > :08:59.whole lot of things. You only need a puncture or a technical issue on the

:09:00. > :09:03.bike and you are out of the race. You find yourself down the top ten

:09:04. > :09:07.instead of in the top five. It will come down to a very exciting race,

:09:08. > :09:12.indeed. They will fight all the way to the

:09:13. > :09:17.line. It looked like it might have been a battle between Flora Duffy

:09:18. > :09:22.and Jodie Stimpson. Just to compete Jodie's misery, after missing out on

:09:23. > :09:26.the Olympic Games her World Series season came to a halt with an

:09:27. > :09:30.achilli's injury suffered in Edmonton. Flora Duffy was unable to

:09:31. > :09:38.capitalise on the disappointment. Her fourth place not enough to add

:09:39. > :09:40.to her tally coming into the final. Now Flores told us what she has to

:09:41. > :09:54.do if she's to win the title here. Duffy takes the applause. Duff duff

:09:55. > :09:59.has the win in Stockholm. -- Duffy has the win in Stockholm. What is

:10:00. > :10:04.the secret to clinching the title? I wish I knew. I need to make the race

:10:05. > :10:12.play to my strength. It needs to be a fast swim and strong bike. If G

:10:13. > :10:19.weapon is not in that group -- Gwen is not in that group, she's a fe

:10:20. > :10:23.none malrunner. She finds the strength and chases you down. It is

:10:24. > :10:27.exciting and kind of a neat position for me to be in. I was not expecting

:10:28. > :10:32.this at the beginning of the year. There is a lot of great opportunity.

:10:33. > :10:36.Having the gold-medallist behind you, it is nerve-racking, but it is

:10:37. > :10:40.OK. She's been beaten twice this year,

:10:41. > :10:45.which is mind blowing. Last year I don't think she was touchable. So,

:10:46. > :10:50.yeah, the right combination of girls on the bikes and a lot are strong

:10:51. > :10:56.runners. It is great for me because with the points it is ideal if Gwen

:10:57. > :11:01.does not win the race. If I break with Jenkins and a few others, that

:11:02. > :11:05.is perfect. Looking back, it has been a great year, it is fair to say

:11:06. > :11:09.that Rio didn't go as you hoped it would have gone? It has been a

:11:10. > :11:14.really great year. And with having a great year you sort of get lumped

:11:15. > :11:19.into that medal contender group. For me, I got put there without me

:11:20. > :11:23.processing that. And the other day I didn't have my day for whatever

:11:24. > :11:28.reason, you know, everyone is at 110 pshs at the Games. -- 110% at the

:11:29. > :11:32.games. Maybe I was a little off. If I felt like myself I would have

:11:33. > :11:37.attacked that bike more and made it go my way. I am still happy with the

:11:38. > :11:43.top ten. It is a solid result with the Olympics. This year, is this the

:11:44. > :11:47.best you can do? Or can you push on? I can improve. My running has been

:11:48. > :11:53.the weakest for me. That has come along so far this year. There's a

:11:54. > :12:00.lot to build on this year and to be stronger for next year. It has been

:12:01. > :12:04.a season to remember so far for Flora Duffy. Despite having won only

:12:05. > :12:09.one race all season. What do you put it down to? A huge commitment to her

:12:10. > :12:14.job and the fact she's incredibly consistent. She's a very strong

:12:15. > :12:18.athlete. She has a great swim-bike combination. She's improving her

:12:19. > :12:22.run. She's been vocal in the fact she said I didn't expect to find

:12:23. > :12:27.myself here. Every race you see, her confidence is building. She will be

:12:28. > :12:33.very conscious when Jorgensen is always a threat she basically needs

:12:34. > :12:38.to beat her in this race. How do you think this will fare? She needs to

:12:39. > :12:43.beat her. You don't know what athlete strategies will be within

:12:44. > :12:48.races. Nothing will change for Flora. She will hit the bike really

:12:49. > :12:56.hard. She will deal well with the weather conditions. It might work in

:12:57. > :13:00.her favour. For sure, she'll need another athlete or two, perhaps like

:13:01. > :13:04.Jenkins, if she is strong enough to get that gap on Gwen going out on

:13:05. > :13:10.the run. Before we talk about those who are out in Mexico, one who

:13:11. > :13:14.isn't, and you have got to feel for Jodie Stimpson, who on paper has had

:13:15. > :13:18.an incredible season, first, second, a couple of fourths as well, but

:13:19. > :13:24.injuries once again have blighted her. How will she come away from

:13:25. > :13:28.2016? She would have learnt a lot. She's a growing athlete in terms of

:13:29. > :13:32.experience. That said, she has a gold medal at the Commonwealth

:13:33. > :13:35.Games. She has been open about her massive disappointment of not making

:13:36. > :13:39.the Olympic team. She walked away and said, do you know what, I don't

:13:40. > :13:45.think I can go through another four-year cycle. You know what, I

:13:46. > :13:48.can. The undecided thing that no-one knows about is who she will train

:13:49. > :13:53.with and where she will train because her old coach, who took her

:13:54. > :13:57.so far, Darren Smith, has now moved on and is not coaching any longer.

:13:58. > :14:01.She has someone in mind. It is not public knowledge at the moment. We

:14:02. > :14:06.wish her well in her recovery. She will come back for 2017 stronger, I

:14:07. > :14:10.am sure. What about the Brits on the start line. Helen Jenkins probably

:14:11. > :14:15.had Rio Olympic races that they might have thought would have gone

:14:16. > :14:21.better? Vicky was happy with her Bronze Medal. A tough phrase, it has

:14:22. > :14:25.been talked about a lot. Those two team-mates battling it out. Very

:14:26. > :14:29.tough. Both are coming to the race with great form. Let's not forget

:14:30. > :14:33.Helen Jenkins either. She had a shocker, I think, in Rio. She was

:14:34. > :14:37.really going for a medal. She got very, very poorly before the race.

:14:38. > :14:45.She's a bit of a dark horse for me. If she comes with her game she will

:14:46. > :14:46.be an athlete to watch out for. What about 2013 world champion, standards

:14:47. > :15:00.in public life, who was pipped to She suffers from a few pre-race

:15:01. > :15:04.nerves and stuff but she is fiercely competitive and she's going to want

:15:05. > :15:08.to come back and say, you know what, actually, I deserve to be world

:15:09. > :15:14.champion, I deserve to win races, you know, I work incredibly hard.

:15:15. > :15:18.She'll have a point to prove. Vicky Holland earned her place on

:15:19. > :15:28.the podium and she's been talking to David McDaid.

:15:29. > :15:34.For the last year 18 months, I've been targeting a medal. The battle

:15:35. > :15:40.continues... I was over the moon to know that I'd done it. Vicky

:15:41. > :15:46.Holland's moved clear. Then on top of that was this mix of guilt and

:15:47. > :16:03.sort rein the fact that there was only one medal to have. Vicky

:16:04. > :16:09.Holland! -- guilt and sorrow. You said you had complicated emotions,

:16:10. > :16:13.let us into what you mean? I didn't feel I was able to show that I was

:16:14. > :16:18.in the best shape of my life. I had stomach upset in the 18 hours

:16:19. > :16:25.beforehand and I felt so lucky that my body held up to the challenge but

:16:26. > :16:30.for the first week or so after the race there was this nagging what if,

:16:31. > :16:35.what could I have Don better if I hadn't have had the stomach upset,

:16:36. > :16:44.would I have been able to do better. Mixed in with the fact that I'm so

:16:45. > :16:48.delighted to have a medal but so desperately upset that Non didn't

:16:49. > :16:51.have one. What was it like when you were back in the house with him? It

:16:52. > :16:55.was just back to normality. In victory and defeat we are the same

:16:56. > :16:59.because underpinning all of it is the fact that we are friends. What

:17:00. > :17:03.do you hope to achieve this weekend? I think I would really like to have

:17:04. > :17:07.a solid result, as long as I get everything out in the race I'll be

:17:08. > :17:14.happy and can't ask for more than that. I would be lying if I said I

:17:15. > :17:18.was in the same shape as going into Rio. I've been training since then

:17:19. > :17:22.and want to maintain as much fitness as possible to come here, I know I'm

:17:23. > :17:26.not quite where I was for the big race. What long-term ambitions do

:17:27. > :17:35.you set yourself after this, Commonwealth, Tokyo maybe? It's

:17:36. > :17:38.really hard when you achieve one massive ambition, it's like Ground

:17:39. > :17:42.Zero, where do you go from there. I'm looking at the Commonwealth

:17:43. > :17:46.Games, it's 18 months away, not particularly long to continue for

:17:47. > :17:50.that. Other than that, ambitions to get a World Series overall podium.

:17:51. > :17:53.There is a lure to go to another Olympics and to try to better what

:17:54. > :17:57.I've done this time but at the same time I don't think I would even try

:17:58. > :18:01.and qualify if I didn't think I could be as competitive as I've

:18:02. > :18:07.been. If it gets to 2018 and I think, you know what, the rest of

:18:08. > :18:11.the world are just a bit better than me now and I've not got anything

:18:12. > :18:18.else to give, I'll leave it to the young guns. What's next? The

:18:19. > :18:22.season's done after this weekend. As exciting as it was and amazing as

:18:23. > :18:26.everyone's been to me since I won, I haven't had the chance to sit back

:18:27. > :18:30.and really bask in the glory of that a little bit. There's always been

:18:31. > :18:33.the next one coming. I think once the season's done and I really just

:18:34. > :18:43.take a minute to take stock, I think that will be a really nice moment.

:18:44. > :18:47.The rise and rise of Vicky Holland. Anna you have followed her career in

:18:48. > :18:51.the space of a couple of years she's gone from somebody who would have

:18:52. > :18:55.been happy in the top ten to serious contender for the top honours. The

:18:56. > :18:59.girl deserves incredible credit? She does. Before she was an

:19:00. > :19:03.international athlete, when she was racing domestically, always had a

:19:04. > :19:06.smile on her face, always real strong and she was really good but

:19:07. > :19:11.you never could have imagined she'd go on to be a bronze medallist at

:19:12. > :19:16.the Olympics. Of course, we have seen a steady progression over the

:19:17. > :19:21.last couple of years and since she moved to Leeds to train with the

:19:22. > :19:24.Brownlees and others, that partnership and training with Non's

:19:25. > :19:28.helped bring her on. She's grown in confidence as well. She started

:19:29. > :19:33.believing in herself, then the results came. Talking about that

:19:34. > :19:39.partnership. A lot has been made of the bronze medal she won about the

:19:40. > :19:42.fact she pipped Non to it. Does she deserve more individual credit for

:19:43. > :19:46.the fact she won it in her own right. Had it been anyone else,

:19:47. > :19:50.there might not have been any mention of who she beat? She openly

:19:51. > :19:53.talking about the team around her and how fundamentally important it's

:19:54. > :19:57.been to her winning a bronze and yes, it's her own medal, she won it

:19:58. > :20:01.individually but she was definitely spurred on by having that

:20:02. > :20:04.camaraderie there, of having her team-mate racing alongside her. I

:20:05. > :20:09.can't imagine what was going through her head over the last few hundred

:20:10. > :20:14.metres. But incredible athlete and achievement.

:20:15. > :20:18.Of course, she's not in contention win the World Series title but no

:20:19. > :20:27.doubt she's going to want to finish strong? Well, yes. If you look at

:20:28. > :20:33.the maths she could still win but there'd have to be disasters happen

:20:34. > :20:36.for that to happen. She could still make the podium though, she could go

:20:37. > :20:40.out and win. After the Olympics, it's interesting to see what the

:20:41. > :20:45.athletes do, do they remain as focussed. The effort that goes into

:20:46. > :20:48.the Olympic Games is massive. Has she managed to carry that on and

:20:49. > :20:52.come to this race as in such good form as she did in Rio, you know.

:20:53. > :20:57.It's hard to peak and then go again but here they are out in Mexico and

:20:58. > :21:00.the conditions that may not suit the British girls, what do you think

:21:01. > :21:05.that they'll need to do to stay in contention to stay in the final

:21:06. > :21:09.stages of the run? They are very well prepared. It would have helped

:21:10. > :21:19.the athletes racing in Rio because it was hot and sticky over there.

:21:20. > :21:24.They don't see the conditions in any other world triathlon series events

:21:25. > :21:27.so they'll be doing their acclimatising and it comes down to

:21:28. > :21:31.how they feel on the day. They've been training in Florida. Things

:21:32. > :21:35.have been going well for them so it's an equal playing field. They

:21:36. > :21:39.seem to be enjoying themselves out there in Mexico, enjoying the

:21:40. > :21:43.conditions and the culture as well. Although the weather may not be most

:21:44. > :21:53.suitable for our girls, what does the course look like? Dave McDaid is

:21:54. > :22:00.the man in the know. Where else to start a triathlon on a

:22:01. > :22:04.Caribbean island than at the sea. Unlike Rio, there's no sandy beach,

:22:05. > :22:12.so the athletes enter the water by diving off this pontoon.

:22:13. > :22:21.After 1500 metres, they swim into the marina and exit into transition

:22:22. > :22:31.exit one. Whilst the sea should be calm, at around 30 degrees, it won't

:22:32. > :22:36.be exactly what you call refreshing. Into the saddle for a 40 kilometre

:22:37. > :22:38.bike ride. Eight laps around the course, including three hairpin

:22:39. > :22:43.bends and these potentially tricky cobbles.

:22:44. > :22:47.Temperatures are well into the 30s and humidity is up to 90%. The

:22:48. > :22:52.athletes will need every ounce of energy they have left by the time

:22:53. > :22:53.they get here for the final run. Four laps of two-and-a-half

:22:54. > :23:05.kilometres. Expect to see a good few athletes

:23:06. > :23:10.fall to their knees when they cross the line. But for one man and one

:23:11. > :23:11.woman, the pain will be worth it as they are crowned the 2016 world

:23:12. > :23:26.triathlon series champion. So, we are all set to go. The Grand

:23:27. > :23:35.Final of the 2016 World Series, and who better to take us through the

:23:36. > :23:40.race than Ali but first Matt. The final race of the 2016 season in

:23:41. > :23:43.the heat of Cozumel, beautiful afternoon, the hottest day of the

:23:44. > :23:48.week, temperatures have been steadily rising. The athletes are

:23:49. > :23:53.using every last second that they can under the shade. Here is the

:23:54. > :24:16.starters for the final race of the season:

:24:17. > :24:26.The searing heat of this Caribbean afternoon in Cozumel, 57 elite

:24:27. > :24:32.athletes lined up and ready to do battle for the final time this

:24:33. > :24:37.season. They're ready to race in Cozumel.

:24:38. > :24:46.The battle for the world title for 2016 begins. Away they go. Single

:24:47. > :24:50.lap in the water. Off none the world triathlon series they'll exit after

:24:51. > :24:55.750 metres then head back in for the second lap. But this takes them on

:24:56. > :24:59.rather a scenic Tour, this swim. They head out then swim in and

:25:00. > :25:06.around the beach area before coming back into the harbour where they'll

:25:07. > :25:17.exit the water after the 1500 metre swim. Always a spectacular sight. We

:25:18. > :25:23.have a total of 57 elite trath lets. The battle is on for the world title

:25:24. > :25:29.2016, certain to be a race between Flora Duffy who leads the world

:25:30. > :25:35.triathlon standings for 2016 and Gwen Jorgensen, the Olympic champion

:25:36. > :25:39.of course. Conditions are fantastic, it's very hot, 33 degrees, water

:25:40. > :25:46.temperature 29 degrees. Great start with the swim. It's going to get

:25:47. > :25:50.tough out on the bike, Annie? Certainly it's going to get very

:25:51. > :25:54.tough indeed. This is by far the coolest part of the race. We have

:25:55. > :26:05.got a great field of swimmers, we'll be looking at the likes of Lucy Hall

:26:06. > :26:12.and Jess Klamer. Flora Duffy will be hot on their heels.

:26:13. > :26:20.We are getting some interesting pictures today, drones are in use,

:26:21. > :26:25.we haven't seen that happen in the past. We have drones hovering above

:26:26. > :26:31.the water bringing you this picture, courtesy of the remote control

:26:32. > :26:35.drones getting us right into the thick of the action. When the wind

:26:36. > :26:43.is light, as it is today, they can use this technology. Early pace

:26:44. > :26:48.coming from Jess Learmonth, number 48 for Great Britain. Her and Hall

:26:49. > :26:52.have dominated world triathlon series stages in the swimming in the

:26:53. > :27:04.past and they'll aim to be near the front today.

:27:05. > :27:13.It's going to be interesting to see what these two athletes, Learmonth

:27:14. > :27:18.and Hall do. They come out of the water with Laura Duffy. The two

:27:19. > :27:27.British athletes had team orders not to race too far ahead with Stanford,

:27:28. > :27:32.Holland and Stimpson also in the race, but today will be a different

:27:33. > :27:38.matter. Jess Learmonth pushing them along. Good rhythmical strong,

:27:39. > :27:45.breathing to one side then the other. Very different conditions to

:27:46. > :27:47.Edmonton two weeks ago when the water was so cold, single figures

:27:48. > :27:53.the air temperature there, the water in the lake in the park absolutely

:27:54. > :28:02.bitter. It's a skating rink in the winter and may well be frozen over

:28:03. > :28:10.by now the way the temperatures were. Now we have the tropical

:28:11. > :28:14.conditions of Cozumel. One of the athletes were saying, you have to

:28:15. > :28:18.avoid being distracted by the tropical fish who mill around

:28:19. > :28:23.beneath when you are swimming along. You can see the multicoloured

:28:24. > :28:28.delights of the wildlife and you have to avoid getting distracted.

:28:29. > :28:33.They'll swim the #150 0 metre loop in a single stretch without exiting

:28:34. > :28:40.the water -- 1500 metre stretch. The second half of the swim will be on a

:28:41. > :28:45.trajectory back towards the harbour after they've made the half way

:28:46. > :28:49.turn. They head back to the narrow entrance into the harbour where all

:28:50. > :28:53.the luxury yachts are parked. Then they head up towards transition. A

:28:54. > :29:01.really good start for the British pair, Learmonth and Hall. We'll keep

:29:02. > :29:06.an eye on Helen Jenkins. Holland, the bronze medallist of the Olympics

:29:07. > :29:13.wears number seven. Non Stanford wears number 14. Stimpson absent

:29:14. > :29:17.from the final race of the season. This is a tough, tough swim here

:29:18. > :29:20.today because of the fact that they don't exit the water, which

:29:21. > :29:24.sometimes gives some of the athletes a bit of a breather and it helps

:29:25. > :29:27.break up the swim, but also it's a long, long way before they meet the

:29:28. > :29:32.first buoy. That is going to play into the hands of the stronger

:29:33. > :29:36.swimmers. I would expect to see some breaks in this swim at some point

:29:37. > :29:39.during the 1500 metres. We can already see at this early stage that

:29:40. > :29:45.Learmonth is really stretching it out. We can see four athletes there,

:29:46. > :29:52.then a pack behind and a few little packs just breaking up at the back

:29:53. > :29:57.of the pack. Hopefully we'll get sight of Gwen

:29:58. > :30:04.Jorgensen and Flora Duffy who're involved in the tussle for the title

:30:05. > :30:09.today. It's all about the season long world triathlon series title.

:30:10. > :30:14.If Jorgensen wins today she'll win the title unless, of course, Duffy

:30:15. > :30:20.is second. If she is second, behind Jorgensen, the title will be hers.

:30:21. > :30:23.If Duffy wins today, no question, victory in the season long world

:30:24. > :30:34.triathlon series will be hers. Learmonth and Hall have stretched

:30:35. > :30:38.them out in the early stages here. I think that is probably Carolina

:30:39. > :30:45.Routier in about third and possibly Flora Duffy near the front. Duffy

:30:46. > :30:49.will be keen to be in the thick of the action. You can see the drone

:30:50. > :30:54.hovering, bringing you some of those pictures. They are about to start to

:30:55. > :30:59.make the series of turns. Beautiful conditions here today. Water

:31:00. > :31:02.temperature 29 Celsius. That is possibly warmer than what they are

:31:03. > :31:09.used to in their actual training pools when they are back in training

:31:10. > :31:17.camps. Temperature is normally 23-24 degrees. 29 Celsius here today in

:31:18. > :31:21.Cozumel. Very, very warm indeed. Just over 500 metres to swim. They

:31:22. > :31:27.are close to the shoreline here. And they are about to head back in

:31:28. > :31:33.towards the harbour, through the narrow gap and it has been a

:31:34. > :31:37.stunning performance so far from Jessica Learmonth and Lucy Hall from

:31:38. > :31:43.Great Britain and the world leader, Flora Duffy is right up there in

:31:44. > :31:48.amongst the thick of the action. Gwen Jorgensen is in the middle of

:31:49. > :31:52.the pack, a little bit further back, but not too far removed at the

:31:53. > :31:54.moment. Jorgensen, who is the only one who can challenge Flora Duffy

:31:55. > :32:11.today isn't too far behind. Jessica Learmonth leading the way.

:32:12. > :32:17.Her team-mate, Lucy Hall, on her feet. They will know one and other's

:32:18. > :32:22.swimming techniques. Flora Duffy, from Bermuda, on her feet. Getting

:32:23. > :32:27.rough as the athletes in that big group behind. Once this swim has

:32:28. > :32:31.been strung out a fair amount, I cannot see any significant breaks

:32:32. > :32:37.happening as yet. We see them happening in transition. I sense

:32:38. > :32:41.this will be the case today. Just the faintest swell, a little bit of

:32:42. > :32:46.surf helping them into the final stages of this swim. Learmonth has

:32:47. > :32:50.not hung about at all. She's got cracking on this swim.

:32:51. > :32:55.Jessica Learmonth has really stretched them in the early stages

:32:56. > :33:01.here. This might play into the hands of Flora Duffy. If Duffy, Learmonth

:33:02. > :33:06.and Hall can potentially get away, coming out of the water, then Duffy

:33:07. > :33:10.could establish a decent lead, along with Hall and Learmonth, who are

:33:11. > :33:14.very capable of going with her. This is how close they are to the rocky

:33:15. > :33:19.shoreline here. You can see everybody standing there, getting

:33:20. > :33:23.the photographs. It's pretty shallow in places as well.

:33:24. > :33:32.I think what you can see in these pictures is just how much easier it

:33:33. > :33:36.is to swim on... Hall looking relaxed, looking only about 50%

:33:37. > :33:39.effort. Jessica Learmonth is absolutely smashing down on the

:33:40. > :33:45.water. I know she wanted to take this swim out hard. It is important

:33:46. > :33:50.that she does. She's got a great swim-bike combination. Watching them

:33:51. > :33:54.really attacking the swim. That bilateral breathing is fairly

:33:55. > :33:59.unusual in triathlon. She looks over her shoulder to see what is

:34:00. > :34:03.happening behind her. The bilateral breathing is tough when you see most

:34:04. > :34:07.athletes breathing every two or three.

:34:08. > :34:13.It is what we can see Learmonth doing. The swim reaching its final

:34:14. > :34:23.stages here and Jess Learmonth leads the way for Great Britain.

:34:24. > :34:29.Learmonth's had a terrific swim so far. . It is not a great surprise.

:34:30. > :34:34.She's had fantastic swims. I notice Lucy Hall on her feet. We are having

:34:35. > :34:42.a good look back there at the pictures. Lucy Hall... A couple of

:34:43. > :34:50.Americans in there. No surprise to see those strong swimmers out there

:34:51. > :34:55.in front. We have a drone just ahead of the swimmers here, giving us

:34:56. > :35:01.these good close-up shots. The drone is skimming a few feet above the

:35:02. > :35:06.still, warm waters of the Caribbean. So, the swim is almost done. It has

:35:07. > :35:12.been a single lap. They started on a beach on the other side of the

:35:13. > :35:17.peninsula before making their way off towards the west. Then coming

:35:18. > :35:22.back into the harbour area and they will exit after 18 minutes and 18

:35:23. > :35:29.seconds. Out of the water now. We will get a full check on who's done

:35:30. > :35:34.what during the first stage and Jess Learmonth is first to appear.

:35:35. > :35:41.18 minutes, 22, the official time. Great Britain first and second. Lucy

:35:42. > :35:46.Hall follows here. Duffy next. Oliveira next. Carolina Routier.

:35:47. > :35:51.Sarah True is there. There is a battle going on for the series world

:35:52. > :35:58.title for 2016 between Jorgensen and Duffy, who are both in the first

:35:59. > :36:02.Group of Seven, out of the water. A great start for Gwen Jorgensen, the

:36:03. > :36:08.Olympic champion. Behind Carolina Routier and just ahead of team-mate

:36:09. > :36:12.Sarah True. Flora Duffy makes a bee line for her bike. We will get a

:36:13. > :36:18.look and see what else is happening with the British athletes. Holland

:36:19. > :36:24.and Jenkins are through on their way towards transition. 47 seconds off

:36:25. > :36:25.the pace of Jess Learmonth, who was the quickest of them all. They

:36:26. > :36:51.continue to arrive. It is a really stemmy hot day. The

:36:52. > :36:54.hottest day of the week so far. They've had really brutality hot

:36:55. > :36:58.conditions for all the age group and under 23 races.

:36:59. > :37:03.They were hoping that things might cool down down. In fact they have

:37:04. > :37:07.got hotter for the elite athlete, who are now ontary way. The first

:37:08. > :37:14.lap of eight. Well, the swimmers have done a great

:37:15. > :37:18.job. Learmonth, Hall and Duffy did a great job of smashing up that swim.

:37:19. > :37:23.We saw a lot of little groups. Something we are not used to in

:37:24. > :37:28.these stages. We often see bigger groups coming out. Gwen Jorgensen

:37:29. > :37:34.finds herself in a difficult patch, she's with Routier and Oliviera.

:37:35. > :37:39.They are not as strong as these three out front. Let's remember back

:37:40. > :37:44.in Leeds when Learmonth and Hall broke well clear of the rest of the

:37:45. > :37:48.pack. I don't know if we will see the same here in Cozumel. A long way

:37:49. > :37:55.to go yet as they start the first of eight laps. In the scramble of the

:37:56. > :38:00.title for 2016 it is between Jorgensen and Duffy. If Jorgensen

:38:01. > :38:06.wins today, Duffy has to finish second to win the title for 2016.

:38:07. > :38:11.That is as simple as it comes, mathematically. In terms of the

:38:12. > :38:17.current rankings, Jorgensen is second on 3325 points. Duffy is

:38:18. > :38:21.ahead of her on 3491. There are extra points on offer

:38:22. > :38:27.today, as it is the grand final in Cozumel. So, Jorgensen is the

:38:28. > :38:32.pre-race favourite. If she wins, Duffy has to finish second. Below

:38:33. > :38:36.second will not do for Duffy. We get a check on the current standings

:38:37. > :38:43.after the swim, as they start to sort themselves out on this first

:38:44. > :38:47.lap through this almost tropical landscape, inland from the seafront

:38:48. > :38:56.at Cozumel. Flora Duffy, up near the front with

:38:57. > :38:59.Lucy Hall and Jessica Learmonth. They need to find themselves doing a

:39:00. > :39:03.Brownlee trick and working this first lap very, very hard, if they

:39:04. > :39:09.have any chance of staying away from the big group. This first section of

:39:10. > :39:17.the course very bitty. We approach another corner. We can see Jorgensen

:39:18. > :39:21.there with Routier and Oliveir. They have made back some time, but 10-15

:39:22. > :39:26.seconds off this front pack. There is real pace. Hall, Learmonth,

:39:27. > :39:31.barking instructions at each other. We are seen this before. Both really

:39:32. > :39:36.good swimmers. They have Duffy for company. She has super strength on

:39:37. > :39:41.the bike. This trio could make a really good little working pack. We

:39:42. > :39:45.can see how hot it is with Hall putting fresh water over herself.

:39:46. > :39:48.She did when she got out of the water. There was a bottle of fresh

:39:49. > :39:58.water offered. She immediately tried to get the salt out of her eyes and

:39:59. > :40:02.clear her face, ready for this hot ride over 40 k. There was talk

:40:03. > :40:05.amongst the organisers that they may have to reduce the distance. There

:40:06. > :40:10.was a suggestion at one stage they would reduce it down to a sprint and

:40:11. > :40:14.make it half distance for the grand final. Thankfully they have stuck

:40:15. > :40:20.with the full Olympic distance for the grand final. It should be, it is

:40:21. > :40:23.the biggest race of the season, of the World Triathlon series, the

:40:24. > :40:27.grand time, so it should be over the full distance, but it will be tough

:40:28. > :40:32.on the hottest day of the week in Cozumel. Here we have our third

:40:33. > :40:39.pack, Jorgensen leading the way. Sarah True and Carolina Routier.

:40:40. > :40:45.So, I think cex, I think I mentioned before it was Oliveria, that is the

:40:46. > :40:50.conclusion, True is wearing a black costume today. This is our chase

:40:51. > :40:55.pack here, working well together at the moment. The conditions will

:40:56. > :40:59.really get to these athletes. The organisers tried to make this race

:41:00. > :41:05.as late as possible in the day, but to me it looks like full heat out

:41:06. > :41:10.there in Cozumel. So the front group of Flora Duffy, Jessica Learmonth

:41:11. > :41:14.and Hall hall. Second seconds clear of the chase trio, Gwen Jorgensen,

:41:15. > :41:20.Sarah True and Carolina Routier. And we will monitor that 20-second

:41:21. > :41:27.gap to see the ebb and flow of the amount of time that the Duffy group

:41:28. > :41:33.has over, Jorgensen will not be too concerned over this at this stage.

:41:34. > :41:38.She can comfortably allow herself to fall 40 seconds to a minute behind

:41:39. > :41:44.and still have the confidence that she can close down Duffy. There is a

:41:45. > :41:46.long way to go until we get to that stage, the foot race at the end oh

:41:47. > :41:56.of this. So this group of three is now a

:41:57. > :42:04.group of five. Adding numbers to the pack is, it is all well and good,

:42:05. > :42:07.but as long as they do the work. Oliveria not as strong on the bike.

:42:08. > :42:11.It seems the Americans are doing all the work at the moment. True at the

:42:12. > :42:16.front. Carolina Routier tucked in there. She had an accident before

:42:17. > :42:22.the Edmonton race a couple of weeks ago and damaged her hand. It has not

:42:23. > :42:29.hindered here in the swim. Let's see how she goes on the bike. Jorgensen

:42:30. > :42:32.around the 180 degrees turn. Hall, Duffy and Learmonth leading

:42:33. > :42:36.the way. This is interesting. If we look back to Leeds, that was

:42:37. > :42:42.interesting. Tactical from the British girls who were trying to

:42:43. > :42:47.work for their team-mates. They were not really taking their turns. Today

:42:48. > :42:51.this is free-for-all, really. I think Hall and Learmonth really need

:42:52. > :43:01.to work hard with Duffy. Just see what they can do here.

:43:02. > :43:08.No Jodie Stimpson in the race. The akilly's injury has caused Stimpson

:43:09. > :43:13.to call an end to her 2016 campaign. She's, she would have been one of 12

:43:14. > :43:19.previous World Triathlon series winners in this race today. It is

:43:20. > :43:24.down to 11. So, it is a field packed with talent and experience and we

:43:25. > :43:30.will try and keep you up-to-date with the progress of Helen Jenkins,

:43:31. > :43:35.Holland and Stanford. They are further down the road as the front

:43:36. > :43:42.three come towards the conclusion of their first lap.

:43:43. > :43:45.26-and-a-half minutes having elapsed since they dived into the warm

:43:46. > :43:50.waters of the Caribbean. Flora Duffy from Bermuda is pushing

:43:51. > :43:57.the pace now. Hall and Learmonth taking their own

:43:58. > :44:01.Jek Tory on that round about towards the area and the conclusion of lap

:44:02. > :44:09.one. So, it is one down, seven to go. It is a flat and fairly

:44:10. > :44:14.straightforward cycle that, that the organisers have introduced for this

:44:15. > :44:17.World Triathlon grand final. Hall, at the moment, struggling with the

:44:18. > :44:25.pace there. Now, there is a group a little

:44:26. > :44:30.further back, this may be the group that contains Stanford and

:44:31. > :44:34.potentially Jenkins as well. We will get a check on the timings. The next

:44:35. > :44:44.three, we think are about 20 seconds behind. The next five, I beg your

:44:45. > :44:55.pardon. Sato and Oliveria have hooked up with them now.

:44:56. > :44:59.Interesting times here in this race because this is something we are not

:45:00. > :45:05.used to seeing with the girls right out in front and that little

:45:06. > :45:08.minipack that contains the Olympic champion, Gwen Jorgensen. This pack

:45:09. > :45:12.about to swallow them up probably. It's going to be down to what the

:45:13. > :45:19.three girls out front can do and how well they can work together.

:45:20. > :45:23.Bad news for Emma Moffatt, in the last race of her career's had to

:45:24. > :45:34.pull out. We are not sure why she's pulled out and we'll try and find

:45:35. > :45:41.out for you. Samuels and Jackson are in that group there. Jenkins to the

:45:42. > :45:46.left. The gap now is 38 seconds so it's grown considerably. At this

:45:47. > :45:52.stage in lap one, lap distance was 22 seconds. The mid lap time now

:45:53. > :45:57.tells us it's 38, so that's quite a difference. Good pace being made at

:45:58. > :46:00.the front by the British pair and Flora Duffy. What will be

:46:01. > :46:05.interesting, at the moment we have no sight of Gwen Jorgensen, but we

:46:06. > :46:09.only have the back of the pack, I can only imagine she's at the front

:46:10. > :46:14.because it's in her interests to pull some time back on Flora Duffy.

:46:15. > :46:19.She needs to finish in first if she's to take the title and Duffy

:46:20. > :46:24.needs to finish in second I think I'm right in saying. If Jorgensen

:46:25. > :46:29.wins, she's still favourite, she's not out of it despite she's 38

:46:30. > :46:33.seconds off the pace, but she's in that group, if Jorgensen wins, Duffy

:46:34. > :46:38.has to finish second to clinch the title. She's going for it, Duffy, no

:46:39. > :46:41.doubt about that. She wants considerable daylight between her

:46:42. > :46:46.and Jorgensen by the time they hang up their bikes at the end of this

:46:47. > :46:53.40k stretch and they are only in lap two now and there are eight 5k laps

:46:54. > :47:00.to negotiate on two wheels before they hit the 10k run which will

:47:01. > :47:04.consist of four laps of 2.5k. My fear is that the athletes could run

:47:05. > :47:07.out of water. They only tend to carry one bottle on their bikes to

:47:08. > :47:11.keep the weight down and usually they wouldn't need more than that.

:47:12. > :47:14.In a race like this, when you are trying to keep cool and pouring

:47:15. > :47:20.water on your head, you are probably going to need more than one bottle.

:47:21. > :47:25.Just looking at the pictures now and Flora Duffy is leading the way.

:47:26. > :47:31.Perhaps some disappointment for her in Rio, finished eighth, topn the is

:47:32. > :47:37.commendable, but she spoke about her race and said she just didn't quite

:47:38. > :47:42.have the legs on the day -- top ten. She knows if she win this is race

:47:43. > :47:48.she'll be crowned world champion. Today they have, all three of them,

:47:49. > :47:52.gone for two bottles, so they are carrying the extra weight and also

:47:53. > :47:56.extra fluid, so let's see if the two bottles last them through. The

:47:57. > :48:02.conclusion of lap two now, they are back towards the side down where it

:48:03. > :48:07.all began half an hour ago. To complete lap two, we are going to

:48:08. > :48:10.check on the timings. 38 seconds the mid lap, it might have grown even

:48:11. > :48:17.further. The first three coming through. Look at the surroundings

:48:18. > :48:21.here. What a stunning location for the world triathlon series.

:48:22. > :48:29.Learmonth, Duffy and Hall finish lap two. The time ticks on and we'll get

:48:30. > :48:33.a full check of the riders who'll appear in transition to compete

:48:34. > :48:40.their second lap in a moment or two. It's already getting on towards 30

:48:41. > :48:46.seconds. Now the chase group, we just saw Non Stanford go through,

:48:47. > :48:53.Helen Jenkins is in there, Vicky Holland is leading them in. Holland

:48:54. > :48:59.and Stanford are leading them through into transition at the end

:49:00. > :49:07.of the second lap. That's the chase group coming through.

:49:08. > :49:14.Bonin is at the back of the chase pack. Jackson ahead of her. Holland,

:49:15. > :49:21.Stanford and Jenkins in this group as well.

:49:22. > :49:26.So all five British trath lets who're racing today are in the top

:49:27. > :49:30.20 at the moment -- triathletes. It's going to be interesting to see

:49:31. > :49:35.what Helen can do here. Such disappointment for her and her fans

:49:36. > :49:38.in Rio. I think she didn't make a really big thing of it but she was

:49:39. > :49:43.certainly very poorly going into the race. She says she is coming here

:49:44. > :49:48.into this race feeling a whole lot better. At the moment, this is the

:49:49. > :49:54.lead pack which contains Flora Duffy and the two British Agent loots.

:49:55. > :49:57.Lucy Hall is drinking a whole load then giving herself a shower trying

:49:58. > :50:03.to keep herself cool as well. She's struggling with the heat. They are

:50:04. > :50:07.nowhere near half way. Lucy Hall's quite pale skinned and I

:50:08. > :50:11.think she, out of the three, is going to suffer the most I think

:50:12. > :50:17.here. She's half way through her water. She's replaced the green

:50:18. > :50:22.bottle to the back and the pink one is at the front. We are only on lap

:50:23. > :50:25.three and Lucy Hall is half way through her supplies of liquid. You

:50:26. > :50:30.have got to pace it because you don't want to find yourself with ten

:50:31. > :50:35.or 15 kilometres to go with no fluids on board to take in. Not sure

:50:36. > :50:41.how Helen Jenkins is feeling today. She's normally at the front, perhaps

:50:42. > :50:45.she's had orders from her husband, her husband Mark Jenkins, to save

:50:46. > :50:55.some energy for the run and stay back. Next, 180 degree turn.

:50:56. > :51:00.Learmonth was pushing the pace there as we head to the back of the chase

:51:01. > :51:04.group. We think Vicky Holland's been making much of the running here out

:51:05. > :51:09.in front. It was certainly Holland who was first across the line at the

:51:10. > :51:16.end of lap two when they were about 33 seconds off the pace. They are

:51:17. > :51:21.watching the leading three head off in the opposite direction now.

:51:22. > :51:26.Duffy, Learmonth and Hall now 40 seconds. So it went from 22 seconds,

:51:27. > :51:33.then about 38, hasn't been much of a change. Mid lap time out to 40

:51:34. > :51:37.seconds now. Not quite sure how accurate that 40

:51:38. > :51:43.seconds is, but it must be there or thereabouts. Flora Duffy bidding to

:51:44. > :51:51.win the world title for the first time and we've got Holland down and

:51:52. > :51:55.who has she taken out there? I thought it was Jorgensen. Holland is

:51:56. > :52:01.down and she's picking herself up and getting back on her bike I

:52:02. > :52:05.think. The rider with whom she had a collision seemed to be a little

:52:06. > :52:09.worse off than Vicky Holland. We'll try to get a replay of that and keep

:52:10. > :52:15.you updated but Vicky Holland is down but not out, we hope, at if

:52:16. > :52:19.moment. Looked like, I'm guessing here, black-and-white colours, I'm

:52:20. > :52:22.thinking New Zealand, looked like Nicky Samuels but hopefully we'll

:52:23. > :52:26.have more information on that in a minute.

:52:27. > :52:33.Flora Duffy world number one, wearing the gold number one on her

:52:34. > :52:37.upper arm. Most of the triathletes looking a little pink in the

:52:38. > :52:45.blistering heat. Sun cream obviously needs to be waterproof if they are

:52:46. > :52:50.going to use it. Born and raised in Bermuda, Flora Duffy, competing in

:52:51. > :52:54.triathlon at the age of seven. Full-time representing Bermuda,

:52:55. > :53:03.after a few near misses had her first triathlon series win this

:53:04. > :53:08.year, that came in Stockholme on 2nd July when she defeated Hewitt and

:53:09. > :53:13.Jenkins. Stanford's picked it up at the front of the chase group where

:53:14. > :53:18.Vicky Holland left off following her collision a few moments ago. At the

:53:19. > :53:23.end, it was Nicky Samuels, we are hearing, who has been involved in

:53:24. > :53:29.that collision with Vicky Holland. So, with five laps to go, three

:53:30. > :53:33.down, five to go, we are going to check on the time difference between

:53:34. > :53:42.the Duffy, Hall, Learmonth trio. Last time we looked mid lap, it was

:53:43. > :53:48.40 seconds. Jorgensen takes her turn at the front, hoping to keep that

:53:49. > :53:53.gap between her and Duffy to a workable margin. Not much

:53:54. > :54:07.difference. 42 seconds, so still looking promising for Jorgensen.

:54:08. > :54:11.I wouldn't say Holland is a loss to that group because we know how

:54:12. > :54:17.strong she is. The loss is going to be felt for the three athletes

:54:18. > :54:23.outfront, 42 seconds, it's grown a bit since the last lap by about six

:54:24. > :54:27.or seven seconds but Flora Duffy will need 90 seconds or so over

:54:28. > :54:33.Jorgensen if she's going to win this race. Still no change at the back of

:54:34. > :54:40.the chase group. Jackson does this race after race after race, you can

:54:41. > :54:45.just know where she'll be and often Charlotte Bonin is there with her.

:54:46. > :54:49.These two are tail-end Charlies. Here you can see how much easier it

:54:50. > :54:54.is at the back. It's very evident when you see them cruising along

:54:55. > :54:59.like that looking fairly relaxed. If we could get pictures to the front

:55:00. > :55:04.of the pack, I can assure you, Non Stanford would be head down and

:55:05. > :55:08.working hard. That's the crash, that's the crash that involved Vicky

:55:09. > :55:13.Holland who is on the left of screen and Nicky Samuels who is tangled up

:55:14. > :55:17.with her bike. Holland was able to pick herself up quite quickly, but

:55:18. > :55:22.her water bottle back in its place on the bike and continue on her way,

:55:23. > :55:26.but we haven't heard any news of Nicky Samuels so far, so we'll try

:55:27. > :55:31.and bring you up to date as and when we can. That was a nasty tight

:55:32. > :55:37.corner with quite a ledge on the pavement. A big group of athletes

:55:38. > :55:41.going around doesn't necessarily mean poor bike handling skills, you

:55:42. > :55:46.know, a big group of 20 going through a small space. Vicky Holland

:55:47. > :55:50.is a great rider but we don't know what happened yet, it could have

:55:51. > :55:54.been Nicky Samuels fault, they could have been dodging another rider.

:55:55. > :56:05.We'll hopefully hear some more from Nicky. If it's Jorgensen who wins,

:56:06. > :56:10.she'll be the first to win two competitions in one season if she

:56:11. > :56:16.can overtake Flora Duffy in the rankings today in Cozumel. The chase

:56:17. > :56:22.back time difference is growing ever so slightly every lap. 22.3

:56:23. > :56:25.kilometres to go. Interesting to see how some of the athletes have been

:56:26. > :56:29.able to bring themselves up after the Olympic Games because obviously

:56:30. > :56:33.a lot of commitment and effort required to get yourself into the

:56:34. > :56:38.games in good shape and then to come to a final, Grand Final like this,

:56:39. > :56:41.just a few weeks later, I think takes a pretty monumental effort

:56:42. > :56:49.from these athletes. Jorgensen could consider a career

:56:50. > :56:58.elsewhere as well. She has a degree in accounting, before she came to

:56:59. > :57:03.triathlon, she worked for Ernst Young. I'm sure she's done well

:57:04. > :57:08.financially out of this. Maybe she doesn't need to go back to work! He

:57:09. > :57:14.may use her rewards for triathlon and maybe forge a career elsewhere.

:57:15. > :57:18.Anyway, lots to discuss and Jorgensen's got work to do, four

:57:19. > :57:26.laps to go. We are just about half way through. The leaders are half

:57:27. > :57:30.way through, the chasers are almost half way through the cycle stage.

:57:31. > :57:37.Learmonth, Duffy and Hall have gone through four. The rest of them

:57:38. > :57:45.coming up the rear. They are now 43 seconds behind. Non Stanford first

:57:46. > :57:52.to cut the time. Not just change. Gone from 22 to 33, to 42, to 43

:57:53. > :57:57.seconds as the laps have unfolded. They seem to be maintaining it

:57:58. > :58:05.around about 0 seconds now. Four laps to go. The lead pack are going

:58:06. > :58:12.to have to start working a little harder because Duffy needs a better

:58:13. > :58:18.lead over Jorgensen. Learmonth of Great Britain leads this world

:58:19. > :58:24.triathlon series Grand Final. Plenty more twists and turns to come.

:58:25. > :58:29.Battle for today's race. It's a battle for the 2016 world title

:58:30. > :58:33.also. And there are two athletes in contention. Duffy is in the lead

:58:34. > :58:40.group, Jorgensen is in the chase group. Back with the leaders now.

:58:41. > :58:50.We did just get a little sighting there of the chase pack, the third

:58:51. > :58:54.chase pack, rather. That did have Euda from Japan. She won it last

:58:55. > :59:00.year when it was a World Cup race, she ran like a track runner to take

:59:01. > :59:05.the race, she's 25 seconds down on Rachel Klamer who got second in the

:59:06. > :59:10.World Cup race here last year. Euda over 1 minute and 30 seconds down,

:59:11. > :59:15.so we are not going to see a lot of her. Duffy taking her turn at the

:59:16. > :59:20.back of the front three. Lucy Hall pushing the pace at the moment. I

:59:21. > :59:23.wonder how much water is left in their bottles on the frame of the

:59:24. > :59:29.bike. They are only just over half way

:59:30. > :59:33.through the 40k cycle and that's a rare sight, Emma Jackson having to

:59:34. > :59:39.do some work at the back of the chase pack. Frustrating, seems like

:59:40. > :59:43.she's struggling to keep on on the more technical sections of the

:59:44. > :59:46.course. We can see the athletes strung out which would suggest the

:59:47. > :59:51.ones at the front are working hard and Jackson's had to wake up and

:59:52. > :59:57.think, I've got to do a bit of work otherwise I'm going to get dropped.

:59:58. > :00:05.We have no news in Hollaus or Samuels who were in-- Holland or Sam

:00:06. > :00:11.yells who were involved in that earlier on.

:00:12. > :00:20.Hall, Learmonth, Flora Duffy have just over 17.8ks to ride before they

:00:21. > :00:26.hang up their bikes and head out on what will be a brutal 10 kilometre

:00:27. > :00:31.run. It is a psychological barrier, or conquered when you hit halfway on

:00:32. > :00:35.these bikes, especially this these conditions, especially on the

:00:36. > :00:38.downhill section. You have hit halfway, perhaps psychologically it

:00:39. > :00:43.will be easier and it will be good now to see these three upping the

:00:44. > :00:46.pace slightly and see if they can up that time difference towards the

:00:47. > :00:54.minute as they head towards the fifth lap.

:00:55. > :01:00.Duffy is doing the lion's share of the work in the fifth lap here. She

:01:01. > :01:12.knows what she has to do. She needs to win this race. Needs to beat

:01:13. > :01:18.Jorgensen today. She's had good company throughout this first half

:01:19. > :01:25.and more of the cycle stage. Hall's arms are looking worryingly pink.

:01:26. > :01:32.She's taken a huge hit of sun this afternoon. She's an English rose, is

:01:33. > :01:37.Hall, very pale skin. These conditions will be very tough for

:01:38. > :01:42.her, especially on the run. A fantastic swim and bike from Lucy

:01:43. > :01:50.Hall. They have not 15 k to go on the bike and a 10 kilometre run to

:01:51. > :01:53.come. Three to go. Learmonth, Duffy and Hall, the leading three, which

:01:54. > :02:01.is where they have been since they came out of the water.

:02:02. > :02:08.There's a lot of support for the Mexican triathlete at the front of

:02:09. > :02:13.the chase group. We will get a check on the timings here, as the chase

:02:14. > :02:17.group finish their fifth lap. They were 43 seconds down at the end of

:02:18. > :02:23.lap four. Have they managed to close that gap

:02:24. > :02:27.at all? Let's look at the time. It will stop shortly, it has grown a

:02:28. > :02:36.little more. Just a couple of seconds. Out to 45 seconds. Claudia

:02:37. > :02:41.Rivas first through. Leading that chase pack, into

:02:42. > :02:46.transition to complete the fifth lap.

:02:47. > :02:56.22 at the end of lap one. 43 and now 45. So, no real damage done by the

:02:57. > :03:00.leading three. In the last 5 kilometres. Holland has withdrawn

:03:01. > :03:04.from the race. We are not surprised by that. She did go down quite hard.

:03:05. > :03:11.We think Samuels has probably called it a day as well. Vicky Holland is

:03:12. > :03:15.no longer in this grand final. Disapointedment for Vicky Holland

:03:16. > :03:19.because she -- disappointment for Vicky Holland because she could have

:03:20. > :03:25.got on to the stadium. That will not be today with her out of the race.

:03:26. > :03:32.So, they are coming back into the smart part of Cozumel now, down by

:03:33. > :03:37.the marina. Flora Duffy is once again taking them along at a serious

:03:38. > :03:40.pace. Learmonth and Hall have done more

:03:41. > :03:45.than their fair share of work so far. I wonder if they might be on

:03:46. > :03:52.for personal best results today if they can handle the heat on the

:03:53. > :03:56.10,000 metre run. Jessica's best result came in Leeds, when she

:03:57. > :04:00.finished 10th. And certainly looks like she can be more than capable of

:04:01. > :04:05.doing it here today, if she can hold it together on the run. Slightly

:04:06. > :04:08.better runner than Lucy Hall. She has a better chance of staying away

:04:09. > :04:12.from the chase pack if they do come off the bikes in this order, which,

:04:13. > :04:17.at the moment, barring disaster, I imagine we will see these three

:04:18. > :04:23.athletes coming in the T 2 first. Coming through transition now. This

:04:24. > :04:29.is only the end of lap six. They have two more circuits to ride. Six

:04:30. > :04:32.down. Two to go in the World Triathlon series grand final. The

:04:33. > :04:45.final race of the year here in Cozumel.

:04:46. > :04:53.Further back down the road the Australian, Gillian Backhouse. We

:04:54. > :04:57.have an Australian at the back of this chase group, Jackson, coming in

:04:58. > :05:03.to stop the clock. We will get an idea of how much work Jorgensen will

:05:04. > :05:09.have to do when she parks up her bike in a couple of laps from now.

:05:10. > :05:13.Hopefully we will. At the moment we don't seem to get any time checks,

:05:14. > :05:17.unfortunately. No clock at the moment. We cannot tell you.

:05:18. > :05:22.Apologies again. We've had graphic problems. I am told all the graphics

:05:23. > :05:26.and timing equipment, which all arrives on a container, it is

:05:27. > :05:32.shipped around from venue to venue, didn't arrive until very late. And

:05:33. > :05:37.there was no time for the officials and host broadcaster to actually go

:05:38. > :05:43.out and test the graphics and timing equipment. It is all very much a

:05:44. > :05:48.question of pressing the button and hope here in Cozumel. We will assume

:05:49. > :05:55.that it has not grown much beyond the 50-second mark.

:05:56. > :06:01.54 seconds. OK, so, that's the official time. It was a little late

:06:02. > :06:07.in coming. That was to the very back of that

:06:08. > :06:10.chase group. 54 seconds between first and about 20th. So, not a

:06:11. > :06:16.particularly accurate time, because there would have been the spread of

:06:17. > :06:24.maybe ten seconds between Gillian Backhouse, who was first through

:06:25. > :06:28.transaction and the last. Not a brilliant idea. We assume it hasn't

:06:29. > :06:34.changed much between the end of lap five and six. Around about the

:06:35. > :06:40.45-second mark. Still very much a winnable distance as far as Gwen

:06:41. > :06:44.Jorgensen is concerned. It seems to me that some of those good runner

:06:45. > :06:51.ins the second pack. There is Helen Jenkins in there. Non Stanford is in

:06:52. > :06:56.there and Gwen Jorgensen is in there. They are three who are more

:06:57. > :07:01.than capable of running down Hall and possibly Learmonth. Duffy proved

:07:02. > :07:05.herself in Stockholm, when she had about 25 seconds off the bike. She

:07:06. > :07:11.had an incredible bike which she took on by herself solo and managed

:07:12. > :07:14.to stay away from Jenkins and Andrea Hewitt, but a different story when

:07:15. > :07:18.you put Gwen Jorgensen into the frame.

:07:19. > :07:24.And Flora Duffy I think needing around about 90 seconds if she's

:07:25. > :07:28.going to take this race. 90 seconds, that is ahead of Gwen Jorgensen when

:07:29. > :07:32.they go out on the bike. Duffy, Learmonth and Hall, through the

:07:33. > :07:39.turn. 52 seconds clear of the chase group, with a lap-and-a-half still

:07:40. > :07:44.to ride. Jorgensen will be thinking about

:07:45. > :07:47.what she needs to do to win the world title for 2016. We have seen

:07:48. > :07:52.Jorgensen come from a minute-and-a-half down after a 40 k

:07:53. > :07:56.run and come up through the field and take the win. She does not mind

:07:57. > :08:03.the conditions. She's won in the cold n the hot. 17 triathlon vik

:08:04. > :08:10.victories. She is probably the best we have ever seen. That is

:08:11. > :08:14.definitely not up for question. A phenomenal athlete, what she has

:08:15. > :08:18.achieved over the last six years. If she takes this title she'll be the

:08:19. > :08:24.only second athlete in the women's field who has managed to achieve

:08:25. > :08:31.three world titles. Jenkins has won two, in 2008 and 2011. Moffatt has

:08:32. > :08:37.won two as well. 200 # and 2010. This is a tough, tough series. The

:08:38. > :08:41.athletes need to race five World Triathlon series events and the

:08:42. > :08:45.grand final. And of course the grand final there's points-and-a-half. So,

:08:46. > :08:49.if you have any mishaps like Hollaus does, well you are well done --

:08:50. > :08:56.Holland does, well you are well down in the race. With it being 800 for a

:08:57. > :09:01.normal World Triathlon series race. And it crisscrosses the globe as

:09:02. > :09:04.well. The travelling can be tough on the athletes, physically and

:09:05. > :09:10.mentally. Abu Dhabi is the first port of call, or was this year, 5th

:09:11. > :09:16.March. Then the Gold Coast, early spi April. The ends of April in Cape

:09:17. > :09:20.Town. Leeds, fantastic occasion on 12th June in Leeds, when they came

:09:21. > :09:24.out to watch this their tens of thousands.

:09:25. > :09:29.And then Stockholm, which was the opposite. Nobody out and about. Just

:09:30. > :09:34.people shopping on that Saturday afternoon in Stockholm. The Hamburg

:09:35. > :09:41.sprint, then the Olympic race. So, those that were in the Olympics were

:09:42. > :09:47.in and out of the north and southern hemispheres and crossing, covering

:09:48. > :09:52.many different time lines as they made their way around to compete and

:09:53. > :09:58.put themselves into contention. Now they've taken in the freezing cold

:09:59. > :10:03.race in Edmonton, post Olympics. Now the grand final in brutal heat in

:10:04. > :10:07.Cozumel, in Mexico. That is to conclude the 2016

:10:08. > :10:11.campaign, which has been memorable for many different reasons,

:10:12. > :10:16.particularly of course because it was punctuated by the incredible

:10:17. > :10:23.scenes in Rio. That was on August 18th and 20th.

:10:24. > :10:26.Well, at the moment this race is certainly looking good for Flora

:10:27. > :10:30.Duffy, if you do the maths and she manages to stay in second place and

:10:31. > :10:35.then wins and no-one else catches Duffy, then Duffy takes the title.

:10:36. > :10:43.So, pretty exciting times for Duffy, I would say. Let's not forget Non

:10:44. > :10:49.Stanford is in that chasing pack. If she has brought her legs to the race

:10:50. > :10:54.she will be a threat to Duffy. The end of the seventh lap now. They

:10:55. > :11:02.will take the bell and we will have one more circuit on two wheels. Five

:11:03. > :11:07.kilometres left to ride. No change. Duffy, Learmonth and Hall have been

:11:08. > :11:13.working together exquisitely so far. Came out of the water in close

:11:14. > :11:18.proximity. They had good transitions, in and out quickly.

:11:19. > :11:21.Picked up their bikes, away they went and they have remained as a

:11:22. > :11:27.trio throughout. The Australian, Gillian Backhouse and the American

:11:28. > :11:34.Gwen Jorgensen lead the chase group into transition. Last time we saw an

:11:35. > :11:39.official time check, two laps ago, they were 45 seconds behind. Let's

:11:40. > :11:43.see if they have managed to do any damage to the advantage that Duffy

:11:44. > :11:46.and the two British riders have at the front.

:11:47. > :11:52.Let's hope we get a clock this time. Yes, we've got one. And the time

:11:53. > :11:57.difference is significant. Jorgensen is going to have to do some work if

:11:58. > :12:03.she wants to win this race today. 58 seconds. That has been a fine lap

:12:04. > :12:09.from Hall, Learmonth and Duffy. They have extended their lead. Out to 58

:12:10. > :12:13.seconds. And they are now deep in their final circuit.

:12:14. > :12:17.You have to hand it to these three athletes, they have worked extremely

:12:18. > :12:21.hard and made this race extremely exciting for us and make the chase

:12:22. > :12:25.pack a little bit nervous. It has crept up to a minute. It has been

:12:26. > :12:30.slowly creeping up. It has crept up. By the time they come back to T 2

:12:31. > :12:34.and the final end of the final lap, eight laps here of five can

:12:35. > :12:39.kilometres, they will have around one minute over the chase pack.

:12:40. > :12:43.Flora Duffy must be beginning to believe she can win the world title

:12:44. > :12:50.for 2016. Dep she wins today she will -- if she wins today, she will

:12:51. > :12:56.win the world title. Things are looking good at the moment. Now they

:12:57. > :13:03.take this turn for the last time. The leading three, Duffy of Bermuda,

:13:04. > :13:12.Jessica Learmonth and Lucy Hall, of Great Britain, have ridden furiously

:13:13. > :13:15.and have opened up a lead of one minute over the Jorgensen-Stanford

:13:16. > :13:20.group. They are approaching the end of their final lap and will hope for

:13:21. > :13:26.clean and fast transitions. T2 approaching. For the leaders in

:13:27. > :13:30.the grand final of the World Triathlon series for 2016, a series

:13:31. > :13:36.that could well be won by Flora Duffy. She's done what she has to do

:13:37. > :13:41.to put pressure on her closest rival, Gwen Jorgensen. We will need

:13:42. > :13:48.to see one of the classic Jorgensen run charges over the four laps that

:13:49. > :13:57.will follow if Jorgensen is to deny Duffy the title for 2016.

:13:58. > :14:04.So, nearly there, they will take a different routed into transition

:14:05. > :14:09.this time. Past the spectators and to the dismount line. Here we go,

:14:10. > :14:12.Duffy, first to arrive. Then Learmonth, clean entry for

:14:13. > :14:17.Learmonth. Duffy. Hall follows them in. She's within a second of the

:14:18. > :14:24.leaders. Duffy has to get this bit right. Knows where her bike park is.

:14:25. > :14:29.Front wheel in. Bike stays upright and the running shoes are on. And

:14:30. > :14:35.Duffy has executed that perfectly. She's on her way. Flora Duffy,

:14:36. > :14:40.followed by Jessica Learmonth. Hall, just a few seconds behind.

:14:41. > :14:44.Now the chase group, the Jorgensen group. Jorgensen in third, amongst

:14:45. > :14:50.this pack at the moment. Through that final turn on the round about.

:14:51. > :14:54.Feet already out of shoes and resting on top.

:14:55. > :15:00.Jorgensen needs to get this right. And then needs to go to work.

:15:01. > :15:05.The gap is about one minute. Possibly more now.

:15:06. > :15:10.The front three pick up some much needed water, a couple of bottles

:15:11. > :15:16.each and Duffy has kicked clear of Learmonth and Hall. Duffy sets off

:15:17. > :15:27.in pursuit of victory and in pursuit of the world title.

:15:28. > :15:37.Rabie coming in for South Africa. Non Stanford not far behind. She's

:15:38. > :15:49.arriving simultaneously with Gwen York Jorgensen who never seems

:15:50. > :15:57.stressed at this time. Neatly done. She follows R rabbly. Ahead of them

:15:58. > :16:04.all, picking up with serious pace on this first lap is the series leader,

:16:05. > :16:10.Flora Duffy of Bermuda. Will this be her day? Will she win the title for

:16:11. > :16:15.the first time in 2016 and deny Gwen Jorgensen the hat trick? There is a

:16:16. > :16:22.lot of triathlon fans out there that would like to see it happen just

:16:23. > :16:26.because of her style of racing. She makes these races that bit more

:16:27. > :16:30.exciting by her attacking on the bike, how she's able to go out there

:16:31. > :16:34.on her own or with a couple of other athletes and it's great to see when

:16:35. > :16:40.we have got used to seeing big packs coming in. Let us see what she can

:16:41. > :16:48.do. She'll have Non Stanford chasing her down. Jorgensen will be there of

:16:49. > :16:52.course. Jackson looking hot there. Duffy looking like she means

:16:53. > :16:58.business. Surprised she didn't grab a water bottle. She's clearly

:16:59. > :17:10.feeling comfortable. She's already left Hall and Learmonth behind.

:17:11. > :17:17.Jorgensen will have to be at her absolute best if she's to get

:17:18. > :17:22.anywhere near nuclear radio Duffy today -- Flora Duffy. She's tearing

:17:23. > :17:28.through the streets of Cozumel. What an explosive start. Gwen Jorgensen's

:17:29. > :17:33.got out in front, she wants to win this race. So Jorgensen is already

:17:34. > :17:40.up to fourth. She's leading the chase group. She has Learmonth and

:17:41. > :17:44.Hall and Duffy ahead of her. They are a further minute down the road

:17:45. > :17:47.but we know what Jorgensen is capable of, even in the brutal heat,

:17:48. > :17:51.but the pace of Duffy is much more serious. She really wants this one.

:17:52. > :18:04.She wants to get this won in lap number one. Let's see how she goes.

:18:05. > :18:13.Lots of athletes were saying she's not that good at sprinting. But she

:18:14. > :18:19.has a nice relaxed body, looking very strong at the moment, Flora

:18:20. > :18:22.Duffy. This will be something of a tactical master class this afternoon

:18:23. > :18:29.from Flora Duffy if she goes on to win it. Swam solidly, rode purposely

:18:30. > :18:39.as she always does, pushing the pace, dictating the race on her

:18:40. > :18:46.terms. Learmonth she's left behind mercilessly. She now sets out to

:18:47. > :18:51.complete lap one and we'll see how much she has over Gwen Jorgensen her

:18:52. > :18:56.rival for the title. At this stage, tough to see Jorgensen closing the

:18:57. > :19:00.gap. We never write Jorgensen off because she continues to surprise

:19:01. > :19:05.us, but I'm beginning to think that this is just a run too far for Gwen

:19:06. > :19:09.Jorgensen today. Wow, I mean she puts so much effort

:19:10. > :19:12.into the Olympic Games, she's spoken about it openly now, it was the

:19:13. > :19:17.race, the only race really that counted this year. She did what she

:19:18. > :19:22.set out to do four years ago and won the Olympic title, but she's such a

:19:23. > :19:27.competitor. She won't want to come here and give anything less than

:19:28. > :19:32.100%. 1 minute and 11 seconds down, I don't think she'd have a problem

:19:33. > :19:35.under normal circumstances. Interesting to see what the time

:19:36. > :19:39.will be after this first lap. Duffy has really attacked the first lap.

:19:40. > :19:44.Will she pay the price for that later? The heat is going to be a

:19:45. > :19:48.factor. It's the hottest race that any of these triathletes have

:19:49. > :19:55.competed in so far this year. Lucy Hall is showing the effects of that.

:19:56. > :20:02.Gasping for the hot air that's available, as Duffy completes the

:20:03. > :20:07.first lap. So we'll see the time between Lucy Hall and Duffy but what

:20:08. > :20:15.matters is the one between Duffy and Jorgensen who's clear of Stanford

:20:16. > :20:21.and Jenkins there. Already 24 seconds, so Duffy's done some

:20:22. > :20:27.serious damage to Lucy Hall in that first lap. Three to go for Flora

:20:28. > :20:43.Duffy, two-and-a-half kilometres down, seven and a half to go. Duffy

:20:44. > :20:48.grabbing water at every opportunity. I worry a bit for Lucy Hall because

:20:49. > :20:53.she suffers in the heat, I've seen her when she's gone down pretty fast

:20:54. > :21:03.in the heat. She's holding her own at the moment though. 17 seconds

:21:04. > :21:10.down, her team-mate behind her. Jorgensen next. It's 1 minute and 12

:21:11. > :21:15.seconds, so that's 72 seconds. That could be decisive for Duffy if she

:21:16. > :21:19.doesn't break down, if she doesn't blow up somewhere during this run,

:21:20. > :21:26.Duffy looks like she's in good shape to win the title.

:21:27. > :21:30.Jorgensen has raised her pace, noticeably now. She was steady

:21:31. > :21:34.during the first lap, now she's starting to make a move. What we can

:21:35. > :21:38.take from that is the fact that Duffy's held pretty much the same

:21:39. > :21:41.time over Jorgensen as when they first went out. They are now

:21:42. > :21:46.two-and-a-half kilometres into this run. More interestingly for Flora

:21:47. > :21:49.Duffy, the other athletes aren't making any inroad into her, they are

:21:50. > :21:55.losing time. Two laps to go, Flora Duffy leads

:21:56. > :22:00.the way, Gwen Jorgensen 1 minute 7 seconds off the pace. So at the end

:22:01. > :22:06.of the first lap, it was 1 minute and 12, end of the second lap, it's

:22:07. > :22:10.1 minute and 7. Helen Jenkins as moved up into third position. Once

:22:11. > :22:17.again, apologies for the standard of the pictures coming in from Cozumel,

:22:18. > :22:21.it's not how usual standard of triathlon coverage but it's the

:22:22. > :22:27.first time the world triathlon series has pitched up here in

:22:28. > :22:32.Cozumel. Looking good for Flora Duffy now. Unless she's just gone

:22:33. > :22:38.too early. She's got 4.2 kilometres to run. The end of this third lap,

:22:39. > :22:44.one more complete circuit, and the world title for 2016 could be going

:22:45. > :22:49.to Bermuda and to Flora Duffy. Well, looking at her at the moment, I

:22:50. > :22:56.don't think she's gone too soon because her rhythm hasn't changed,

:22:57. > :23:05.she's going as well as ever. Jorgensen's pulled a few seconds

:23:06. > :23:10.over Duffy and Duffy looking the more relaxed of the two. Jorgensen's

:23:11. > :23:15.pace not picked up as we expected it to. Jorgensen getting plenty of

:23:16. > :23:18.encouragement along the way from her connections but maybe this was just

:23:19. > :23:24.a run too far for Jorgensen this afternoon.

:23:25. > :23:30.She managed to reduce Duffy's lead by just five seconds over the second

:23:31. > :23:35.lap. Duffy isn't far away from completing her third lap and taking

:23:36. > :23:41.the bell for what may well be a lap of honour, a final two-and-a-half

:23:42. > :23:45.kilometre run which will take her to the world title for 2016.

:23:46. > :23:50.Interestingly, Helen Jenkins there in third and Jorgensen not really

:23:51. > :23:55.pulling that much away from her. I think that's Charlotte McShane from

:23:56. > :23:58.Australia just behind Helen Jenkins. Looking at the overall standings,

:23:59. > :24:07.Helen Jenkins is in sixth place at the moment. Depending on Hewitt and

:24:08. > :24:10.Euda are, they were way back in the second chase pack, things could be

:24:11. > :24:15.looking pretty good for Helen Jenkins and making up for a very

:24:16. > :24:18.disappointing Olympics for her. Great to see her showing the form we

:24:19. > :24:23.saw in the Gold Coast when she qualified for the Olympic Games.

:24:24. > :24:27.Jenkins out in third now. Doesn't mind the heat. Her win at

:24:28. > :24:39.the start of the season came in the heat of the Gold Coast. Duffy from

:24:40. > :24:48.Bermuda leading them through. Almost home at the end of her

:24:49. > :24:56.penultimate lap. Duffy has really taken this race

:24:57. > :24:59.apart. What a star. Fantastic swim in the first three coming out of the

:25:00. > :25:03.water. Did so much of the running on the bike and then what a start on

:25:04. > :25:08.the run. She got cracking straightaway. Good transition,

:25:09. > :25:13.smoothly in and out. Parked up her bike and then just exploded away

:25:14. > :25:18.from transition and opened up a significant lead in the first

:25:19. > :25:23.two-and-a-half kilometres. She's been on her own for the rest of the

:25:24. > :25:29.run. She'll shortly be arriving to take the bell with one lap to go.

:25:30. > :25:33.I think surely at this point, the adrenaline of knowing that she's

:25:34. > :25:37.running herself into a World Championship title is really going

:25:38. > :25:42.to spur her on. Two-and-a-half kilometres to go, she can hold it

:25:43. > :25:47.together, she's looked good for the entire race and about eight minutes,

:25:48. > :25:52.probably a little bit under to go in this race. Duffy is looking like

:25:53. > :26:00.she'll become a world champion here in cos mayor. Jorgensen so often

:26:01. > :26:07.able to deny those who would challenge for victory -- Cozumel.

:26:08. > :26:12.Duffy decided she would make it impossible for Jorgensen to close

:26:13. > :26:19.the gap. Still a lap to come. All sorts of things can happen, we see

:26:20. > :26:22.it often in triathlon, athletes push too hard in the first three quarters

:26:23. > :26:27.and pay the price in the final quarter.

:26:28. > :26:32.But Duffy's got the experience, hopefully she's got the hydration

:26:33. > :26:39.and the ability to keep up this pace. Jorgensen's never really hit

:26:40. > :26:45.full race pace during the first seven and a half kilometres of this

:26:46. > :26:49.final stage of the final race of the season.

:26:50. > :26:57.The leader is going to take the bell shortly.

:26:58. > :27:02.I think looking at her, Jorgensen's focussing on putting one foot in

:27:03. > :27:06.front of the other, she is overheating, trying to keep herself

:27:07. > :27:10.really cool. Hard to see the eyes with her glasses on. First time you

:27:11. > :27:12.have ever really seen Gwen kind of suffer, certainly for a very, very

:27:13. > :27:26.long time. World champion in waiting, Flora

:27:27. > :27:31.Duffy. At the top of your screen, the Olympic champion. Just behind

:27:32. > :27:37.her, Helen Jenkins of Great Britain who might fancy second place if

:27:38. > :27:44.Jorgensen starts to lose speed. Jenkins seems to be full of running

:27:45. > :27:51.at the moment. She does. McShane is hot on her heels. Interesting to see

:27:52. > :27:56.what the time differences are on the third lap. Sometimes the camera

:27:57. > :27:59.angle can be deceptive, but Helen Jenkins certainly didn't look like

:28:00. > :28:05.she was that far behind Gwen Jorgensen.

:28:06. > :28:11.Shortly, Flora Duffy of Bermuda will take the bell and she'll know then

:28:12. > :28:18.that she's got a 2,500 metre run ahead of her between her and the

:28:19. > :28:22.world title for 2016. Has she got the timing right?

:28:23. > :28:31.Looking good. But there's still a bit of running to do for Duffy.

:28:32. > :28:37.Still looking incredibly composed and relaxed. Interesting to see what

:28:38. > :28:41.her run splits are throughout this 10k run. There's been no let-up in

:28:42. > :28:46.the pace just yet. I wonder at some stage she's going to think, I have a

:28:47. > :28:50.minute and I can back off, but until she crosses that finish line, she's

:28:51. > :28:54.not going to be stopping any time soon knowing Jorgensen is behind

:28:55. > :28:57.her. With the skills of Jorgensen on the run, I don't think there's

:28:58. > :29:01.anything she can do to match Flora Duffy today. Duffy takes the bell in

:29:02. > :29:07.Cozumel. One lap to go. She looks like she's

:29:08. > :29:11.full of running, just like she was at the start of the first lap. The

:29:12. > :29:16.time difference between Duffy and Jorgensen at the end of lap one, 1

:29:17. > :29:19.minute and 12. By the time they completed the second lap, it was

:29:20. > :29:24.down to 1 minute and 7. I wonder what it will be now. I don't think

:29:25. > :29:31.it's going to be any significant difference for Jorgensen. Jorgensen

:29:32. > :29:32.just hasn't been able to find the pace to overcome Duffy's quest for

:29:33. > :29:46.the title. Further down, you can see McShane in

:29:47. > :29:49.the green and gold for Australia and Jenkins in the red, white and blue

:29:50. > :29:55.for Great Britain. And the time difference has grown

:29:56. > :29:58.now. Duffy has stretched her lead again over Gwen Jorgensen. It's 1

:29:59. > :30:09.minute and 14. It looks as if Jorgensen will have

:30:10. > :30:16.to settle for second here, which will bring her second in the world

:30:17. > :30:20.standings for 2016. Of course the Olympic Games was always her focus,

:30:21. > :30:27.as the best triathlete in the world. It was one thing which was missing

:30:28. > :30:37.from her ses sue may, didn't finish in London, 2012. Absolutely took it

:30:38. > :30:43.out in Rio in 20 167 16. -- 2016. The Olympics was always her main

:30:44. > :30:48.focus of the year. Duffy thought she could win the

:30:49. > :30:54.world title and it looks like she may. One minute and 14 seconds clear

:30:55. > :31:00.of 17-time World Triathlon series winner, Gwen Jorgensen. Duffy has

:31:01. > :31:07.only ever won a single World Triathlon singles race. That victory

:31:08. > :31:10.came this year she is about to add her second potentially and most

:31:11. > :31:22.important one, the victory which will bring her the title of World

:31:23. > :31:27.Triathlon champion for 2016 and for an island just 26 miles by two, that

:31:28. > :31:36.is some feat. Born and raised in Bermuda. Started to compete in

:31:37. > :31:39.triathlon at seven. Now a full-time professional triathlete about to

:31:40. > :31:46.bring Bermuda to the top of the world stage. And she really is a

:31:47. > :31:50.multi-talented athlete. She took the World Championship title in 2014.

:31:51. > :31:56.That is triathlon, but it is off-road biking. Almost a tougher

:31:57. > :32:02.version of what we are seeing here today, because the athletes have to

:32:03. > :32:07.ride technical sections off road. So Flora Duffy, it looks like she'll

:32:08. > :32:10.add another toll that title she won back in 2014. Back with Gwen

:32:11. > :32:16.Jorgensen now. She's trying to do her best to keep cool. Looks like

:32:17. > :32:23.she's well clear of Jenkins in third place. I think the race was on for

:32:24. > :32:25.third place, because Charlotte, from Australia, ran alongside Jenkins

:32:26. > :32:29.when they came through the third lap of the run. Hopefully we'll get

:32:30. > :32:35.pictures to see what is happening in third and fourth place. Duffy looks

:32:36. > :32:40.like she's bouncing along at the front of the field. 1.2kms to go.

:32:41. > :32:42.She seems to be getting quicker. Flora Duffy is having the run of her

:32:43. > :32:48.life. She is. Across the road I saw

:32:49. > :32:54.talking about Jenkins and McShane, two athletes running close together.

:32:55. > :33:01.Non Stanford tucked in there around about fifth place. Non Stanford

:33:02. > :33:06.having a strong run. It could be a battle for the final place on the

:33:07. > :33:12.podium. Maybe a sprint finish between McShane and Jenkins, of

:33:13. > :33:16.Australia, and Great Britain, respectably.

:33:17. > :33:21.Somebody just said to Duffy, smile, and she did. She understood the

:33:22. > :33:28.humour. She was able to force out the smile and then switch her mind

:33:29. > :33:33.back to the final workload that has to be care Ied now. At the --

:33:34. > :33:38.carried now. At this point she must know the title is hers. Barring

:33:39. > :33:43.disaster and I don't see anything bad happening right now, this race

:33:44. > :33:48.really is going to Flora Duffy and a world title.

:33:49. > :33:56.Finished second to Gwen Jorgensen in Leeds, on 11th June. Won her one and

:33:57. > :34:03.only triathlon series race in Stockholm, full distance, on the

:34:04. > :34:08.second July. Didn't really perform in the Olympics, but now she's

:34:09. > :34:12.making it happen and she will win the world title for 2016. Managing

:34:13. > :34:17.to get some liquid down her throat, as well as over her head. She's done

:34:18. > :34:22.well to keep herself cool. Keep herself out of trouble. Remember,

:34:23. > :34:26.there was talk that this race might not go ahead in its full distance

:34:27. > :34:31.capacity because of the temperatures. There was talk this

:34:32. > :34:36.afternoon it might be reduced to a sprint distance race because it was

:34:37. > :34:42.so hot. It was just within the permitted perimeters in terms of

:34:43. > :34:47.what the medical officials deemed was acceptable for the triathletes.

:34:48. > :34:54.That is how tough it is out here this evening in Cozumel.

:34:55. > :34:58.And the Olympic champion has battled on and this stage looks like she'll

:34:59. > :35:05.be doing enough to take second in the race. And second in the

:35:06. > :35:10.championship for 2016. She's worked very, very hard. It is

:35:11. > :35:15.not a usual sight to see her suffer so much on the run. Fair play to

:35:16. > :35:20.Gwen Jorgensen because this has probably been one of her most

:35:21. > :35:24.uncomfortable runs. Jenkins there in third place, McShane hot on her

:35:25. > :35:31.heels. These two have never gone head-to-head like this before. Ueda

:35:32. > :35:34.has come through from the third back. She won the World Cup race

:35:35. > :35:51.here last year. What a run for Ueda. What an extraordinary race.

:35:52. > :35:53.Conditions stunning. Visually the crystal-clear water, the athletes

:35:54. > :36:02.able to view the tropical fish as they made the swim and then the

:36:03. > :36:08.brutal, oppressive heat on the 40K cycle and the lonely run for Duffy

:36:09. > :36:14.and for Jorgensen. Loneliness will be rewarded shortly for Flora Duffy.

:36:15. > :36:21.Just starting to look around. Starting to sense that her dream is

:36:22. > :36:25.about to become a reality. She's going to lap Pamella Oliveira

:36:26. > :36:29.of Brazil on the way to the finishing line. Jorgensen is further

:36:30. > :36:34.behind than that shot suggests, because Jorgensen has a little semi

:36:35. > :36:42.circle to run before she's on the same bit of roadway as Duffy. And

:36:43. > :36:46.Jenkins appears to be just a few metres clear of McShane now, in her

:36:47. > :36:54.quest to take third and win bronze today.

:36:55. > :37:02.28-year-old Flora Duffy can start to enjoy it any minute now.

:37:03. > :37:11.She will realise that she's got it done today. Her tactics, risky in

:37:12. > :37:17.the heat, but ultimately rewarding. Her tactics were courageous. The way

:37:18. > :37:21.she stomped on the cycle stage with Learmonth and Hall for company, the

:37:22. > :37:26.way she took it out and stretched that lead, lap, after lap, taking

:37:27. > :37:30.ten seconds a lap at one stage, until it was beyond Gwen Jorgensen.

:37:31. > :37:38.She was a minute in front by the time she hung up her bike and now

:37:39. > :37:48.Duffy can ease up on the pace and enjoy this World Championship

:37:49. > :37:56.winning moment. There is a ba mu da flag waiting for her. She can smile

:37:57. > :38:01.at last and soak it all in. Duffy is the World Triathlon series champion

:38:02. > :38:08.for 2016. She comes home to win the final race and win the title. What a

:38:09. > :38:14.performance from Flora Duffy. One hour, 57 minutes. 59 seconds.

:38:15. > :38:19.She is the champion of the world. And now she'll just wait for the

:38:20. > :38:22.former champion, the Olympic champion. If this is the end for

:38:23. > :38:28.Jorgensen, then it is a glorious end. She's performed spectacularly

:38:29. > :38:32.this season. Today she wasn't quite good enough to overcome Flora Duffy.

:38:33. > :38:39.It is a remarkable second place and the sprint is on between McShane and

:38:40. > :38:42.Jenkins and McShane has Jenkins. McShane comes home for third.

:38:43. > :38:47.Charlotte McShane on the podium for Australia.

:38:48. > :38:53.She's beaten Helen Jenkins in the final 100 metres.

:38:54. > :38:58.Jenkins has to settle for fourth and is there to congratulate Flora Duffy

:38:59. > :39:03.on her extraordinary achievement of becoming the world champion for

:39:04. > :39:18.2016. Sarah True has just come home and

:39:19. > :39:24.collapses in a heat just over the line. Sarah True in a bit of trouble

:39:25. > :39:30.there and Non Stanford is next to finish for Great Britain.

:39:31. > :39:41.Stanford coming across the line. Another top-ten for Stanford.

:39:42. > :39:50.And Shorets of Russia next over the line. Without exception an exhausted

:39:51. > :39:53.group of triathletes who are finishing and wondering probably why

:39:54. > :39:58.they put themselves through this in the heat that was on offer today in

:39:59. > :40:03.Cozumel. Flora Duffy wins the final race of

:40:04. > :40:06.the season in Cozumel, ahead of Gwen Jorgensen and Charlotte McShane.

:40:07. > :40:12.Helen Jenkins was the best of the British today in fourth. Non

:40:13. > :40:17.Stanford finished eighth, with Lucy Hall, 23rd. Jessica Learmonth in

:40:18. > :40:37.30th. The final standles for 2016:

:40:38. > :40:43.I am kind of speechless. I have no idea how it happened. You hope and

:40:44. > :40:48.wish and train for the perfect day and you know, the perfect day came

:40:49. > :40:54.when I needed it, when the pressure was on. I don't even know what to

:40:55. > :40:57.say right now. Are one of the best runner on the circuit but you could

:40:58. > :41:04.not hunt down Flora Duffy on this occasion? Flora had two people

:41:05. > :41:08.working with her. It made the difference today. You seemed like

:41:09. > :41:11.you had a lot of work to do on the bike, you were leading that chasing

:41:12. > :41:14.group? Our group was not very organised. It is hard to get

:41:15. > :41:18.organised. Try to keep the pace alive. It is hard when you have

:41:19. > :41:23.three committed people up the road. We got into the first with the bike,

:41:24. > :41:27.I was like, look, are you guys working or not? This race has a lot

:41:28. > :41:31.riding on it. They were keen to pull turns. It wez great working with

:41:32. > :41:35.them. I have to thank them for working with me. It is what you

:41:36. > :41:39.want. You know you want to make the bike count and yeah, perfect today.

:41:40. > :41:44.You did it by leading pretty much from the start as well. Coming off

:41:45. > :41:49.with a minute on G wen, I thought, oh, gosh. I knew if she passed me I

:41:50. > :41:53.whatted to hang on to second. Every split I had a minute, a minute and

:41:54. > :41:57.five. I thought I will keep running and see what happens. It proves like

:41:58. > :42:02.anything is possible and, it is incredible day for me and I hope it

:42:03. > :42:05.just inspired like, no matter where you are from, a little country or

:42:06. > :42:10.what, you can stand up there with the best. And you are on to the New

:42:11. > :42:14.York marathon. How do you prepare for that? You know, I am more

:42:15. > :42:19.looking forward to going home. I have t no been home since December

:42:20. > :42:22.27th. I am flying home tonight. I am looking forward to spending time

:42:23. > :42:25.with my family and friends. At the beginning of the year I said if I

:42:26. > :42:31.won nothing but the Olympics I would be happy. I am disappointed with the

:42:32. > :42:36.race today. I got my gold that I have been working for. I actually

:42:37. > :42:40.struggle in the heat. I collapsed a few time in the heat. For me. It was

:42:41. > :42:45.about conserving myself in the race. I couldn't believe it when I started

:42:46. > :42:50.the run and felt like I was being conservative and I was up there.

:42:51. > :42:54.That last lap I could see Helen, I thought, that's the party, I am this

:42:55. > :42:59.close to the podium. I gave it all I could. I owe a lot to Gwen. She's

:43:00. > :43:04.the most amazing training partner to have. She pushes me every day and

:43:05. > :43:09.encourages me and I have learnt so much from her and I am pretty

:43:10. > :43:13.excited to be up there besides her. They often say that fourth is the

:43:14. > :43:20.toughest place to come. What are your thoughts on that? I am happy. I

:43:21. > :43:24.struggled since Rio. It took me a few weeks to get over the virus, or

:43:25. > :43:30.whatever it was I had. I started to feel good the last few days. I am

:43:31. > :43:34.happy to come away fourth. I sat in on the bike and didn't do anything,

:43:35. > :43:38.I was not feeling great, so I was surprised to do all right on the

:43:39. > :43:43.run. It is really hot today. I was feeling terrible, to be honest.

:43:44. > :43:49.Today I knew Gwen had to get ahead of glor ra. It is up to her to do

:43:50. > :43:54.the work today. I kind of sat there, tried to keep myself out of trouble.

:43:55. > :44:00.It was notten easy. I was not having a good time. You seem pretty pleased

:44:01. > :44:05.with who is the overall winner? She 's deserved it this year. She's been

:44:06. > :44:11.like an attacking athlete. Made the bike morel vent. I am happy for

:44:12. > :44:18.Flora to come away with a win. How are the girls looking backstage?

:44:19. > :44:22.Everyone is in a bit of a mess. Non is struggling a bit. We have a good

:44:23. > :44:27.medical team. Our team are great. All the staff are great. I have been

:44:28. > :44:30.inspired by all the juniors, and the under 23s over the last couple of

:44:31. > :44:35.days. It is a nice team atmosphere we've got. So now the presentation

:44:36. > :44:46.for the World Championship trophy. Ai Ueda, a brilliant performance

:44:47. > :45:05.today. Representing Japan, please welcome,

:45:06. > :45:11.Ai Ueda. The 32-year-old from Kyoto did enough today to seal third

:45:12. > :45:16.position overall. After a consistent season.

:45:17. > :45:17.Fifth today, seventh in Hamburg, fifth in Stockholme, eighth in

:45:18. > :45:38.Leeds. An emotional moment for the Japanese

:45:39. > :45:44.veteran. Representing the United States of America, please welcome

:45:45. > :46:00.Gwen Jorgensen. Three wins this season, one of which was the Olympic

:46:01. > :46:04.triathlon. The hat trick just one step too far. She has to settle for

:46:05. > :46:11.runners up position overall for 2016.

:46:12. > :46:22.It could be the last time we see Gwen Jorgensen on the AT

:46:23. > :46:30.triathlete stage. Please welcome Flora Duffy! Flora Duffy world

:46:31. > :46:35.champion! Consistently Sol I wouldth Ied -- solid this season. First

:46:36. > :46:42.triathlon series victory came after so many near misses in Stockholme on

:46:43. > :46:49.2nd July and she was forever in the top five getting better and better

:46:50. > :46:58.as the season progressed. Had a disappointing Olympics. But she made

:46:59. > :47:06.this Grand Final her focus. And didn't she nail it in Cozumel! ?

:47:07. > :47:09.Brilliant swim, fantastic 40k on the bike and a brilliant, grave run to

:47:10. > :47:16.win the world title for 2016. NATIONAL ANTHEM

:47:17. > :47:55.PLAYS. APPLAUSE.

:47:56. > :48:02.The moment that Duffy will never forget, done the double today. She

:48:03. > :48:06.wins the race and the world title. A good day for Flora Duffy in Cozumel.

:48:07. > :48:10.TfL TfL It was nice to hear God Save the Queen ring out even though it

:48:11. > :48:15.was for Bermuda. But take nothing away from Flora Duffy who over the

:48:16. > :48:19.course of 2015 has proved herself a worthy champion? I love to watch her

:48:20. > :48:23.race because she's so fearless. She's kind of changed the racing,

:48:24. > :48:28.she's made the other girls up their game a bit and she certainly makes

:48:29. > :48:32.it a lot more exciting. The strides she's made have been huge, haven't

:48:33. > :48:35.they, and there were so many similarities this time to Leeds, you

:48:36. > :48:39.had nuclearry at the front, tucked in behind Learmonth and Hall, but

:48:40. > :48:44.unlike in Leeds when Gwen came from behind to take the race, this time

:48:45. > :48:49.Flora even increased her lead so that proves just what a racer she's

:48:50. > :48:55.become? Yes, I think looking at 2015 she had two thirds of her race.

:48:56. > :48:59.Initially she's come with a full game, she's improved her run beyond

:49:00. > :49:02.doubt really. We can't look too much into the run times because it was so

:49:03. > :49:06.hot yesterday but she managed to hold that minute gap that she got

:49:07. > :49:10.over Jorgensen coming out. She really held it together in the heat

:49:11. > :49:17.where I think a lot of the other athletes were suffering. What about

:49:18. > :49:21.Gwen because it did look perhaps like after all she did in Rio, she

:49:22. > :49:26.just didn't have enough in the locker? She came to the race to win

:49:27. > :49:29.without a doubt but yes, I guess the media stuff she's had to do and just

:49:30. > :49:32.the fact she's won a gold probably has meant that the last few weeks

:49:33. > :49:39.have not been the best preparation for her. That's been the same for

:49:40. > :49:42.everyone as well. Strong showing for the Brits, Jess and Lucy did well

:49:43. > :49:46.after the first and second disciplines, terrible way to end the

:49:47. > :49:50.season for Vicky Holland. She wouldn't have been happy with that,

:49:51. > :49:56.even though it's been a year to remember? Yes. That can happen to

:49:57. > :49:59.anyone, it was just so unfortunate that it was Vicky and it was the

:50:00. > :50:02.Grand Final. She'll be hugely disappointed but she's not going to

:50:03. > :50:07.forget about that bronze any time soon. You wouldn't, would you, if

:50:08. > :50:11.you had one? ! What about Helen Jenkins, so close to getting herself

:50:12. > :50:15.on the podium, but again someone who's been there for Great Britain,

:50:16. > :50:20.flying the flag better than most and she had a point to prove? She

:50:21. > :50:23.certainly did. It was a great shame she was outsprinted by Charlotte

:50:24. > :50:29.McShane because this is probably her last Olympics I would say without a

:50:30. > :50:33.doubt, she's 34 now. While she came and started the year so positively

:50:34. > :50:38.and strongly, you know, she just had such a tough time being so poorly

:50:39. > :50:43.going into Rio. Then she's come away in the series fifth overall and

:50:44. > :50:50.hopefully that is some consolation for a very, very greatest athlete.

:50:51. > :50:54.Great athlete and a Great British athlete too. Flora Duffy world

:50:55. > :50:58.champion in 2016. What a champion, what a season. That rounds off the

:50:59. > :51:04.women's season and before we look ahead to the men's race, a reminder

:51:05. > :51:09.of the conclusion of the para-triathlon series. Two world

:51:10. > :51:14.champions in Andy Lewis and Alison Patrick in Rotterdam in July and a

:51:15. > :51:17.hugely successful debut for the Paralympics, all the events went

:51:18. > :51:29.spectacularly well and the British team came away with a gold. For Andy

:51:30. > :51:35.Lewis in PT 2. Steadman and Patrick got silver.

:51:36. > :51:41.It is great to see this side of the sport making such huge strides isn't

:51:42. > :51:46.it, Annie? It really is. Coming away with four medals, as triathlon makes

:51:47. > :51:50.its debut in the Paralympics, I can really only see it going from

:51:51. > :51:54.strength-to-strength. There is another indication the sport is in

:51:55. > :52:03.safe hands with strong British performances in the juniors in

:52:04. > :52:07.Cozumel. The junior men's race, a 17-year-old performed well in three

:52:08. > :52:13.disciplines with only an American and Canadian getting the better of

:52:14. > :52:16.him. Impressive debut at this level for 16-year-old Alex Yee who showed

:52:17. > :52:24.lightning run speed on the final discipline to go from 36th to fifth.

:52:25. > :52:27.European junior silver medallist Sam Dickinson struggled with the

:52:28. > :52:32.temperatures, but showed resilience to finish eighth. The conditions

:52:33. > :52:39.were so, so tough. Working with Sam and the other guys on the bike

:52:40. > :52:43.trying to get it done, I'm over the moon. I I had probably the swim of

:52:44. > :52:47.my career. I headed towards the front pack. I didn't quite have it

:52:48. > :52:52.in the end. There are a few holes in my race. I'm going to go back, have

:52:53. > :52:56.a good winter, patch up the holes and hopefully come back next year

:52:57. > :53:04.and see what I can do. I did the best I could in this heat. It was a

:53:05. > :53:12.strong team effort. In the junior women's event, for the juniors, it

:53:13. > :53:19.was tough. After problems with her bike, Rainsley finished 45th. Waugh

:53:20. > :53:26.and Mathias finished well, 11th and 17th respectively. It was won by

:53:27. > :53:31.Taylor Nib from the US. The men's Grand Final now, two guys who are

:53:32. > :53:34.clear signs of how far the British triathlon's come. They are back in

:53:35. > :53:37.action together tonight for the first time since the Olympic gold

:53:38. > :53:43.and silver-winning performances in Rio. I think you know who we are

:53:44. > :53:50.talking about. I would absolutely love to see

:53:51. > :53:58.Johnny win the world title. I've got to come first or second! I've gotten

:53:59. > :54:01.used to not winning races and not knowing how to win races but after

:54:02. > :54:05.Edmonton I've learnt what it is again to win a race. It's been a

:54:06. > :54:11.performance of experience, intelligence and ability.

:54:12. > :54:17.It's just going hot and hard. It will be a race of attrition. It's

:54:18. > :54:22.great to have Alastair here. I can trust him, he's going to want to

:54:23. > :54:27.race the same as I do. I don't think there's any secret that our tactics

:54:28. > :54:31.are to get out at the swimming at the front and ride out our laps.

:54:32. > :54:37.That's always in our best interests. It will be a glorious Golden double

:54:38. > :54:43.for Alastair Brownlee and Johnny finishes just a handful of seconds

:54:44. > :54:47.behind to take the silver. First and second in the Olympic

:54:48. > :54:51.Games then to become world champion would be the icing on the cake. We

:54:52. > :54:57.can do all we can to help him win the world title this weekend.

:54:58. > :55:05.And you will be able to see Johnny and Alastair in the Grand Final live

:55:06. > :55:10.on the red button from 10. 30 tonight. You can hear more from them

:55:11. > :55:16.in our highlights show with myself and Annie on BBC Two tomorrow

:55:17. > :55:19.afternoon at 1. 45. Both the mens and womens highlights are available

:55:20. > :55:23.on the iPlayer. We really do have another

:55:24. > :55:27.mouth-watering encounter for you. Set this one up Annie because there

:55:28. > :55:30.are some serious businesses to sort out on the start line? There

:55:31. > :55:35.certainly is. There is a World Championship title up for grabs

:55:36. > :55:42.between Johnny Brownlee and Mario Mola from Spain. Mola might get the

:55:43. > :55:47.edge in the heat but Brownlee has his brother to help him. Mola might

:55:48. > :55:51.have a lot of things going for him, he's leading the Championship,

:55:52. > :55:54.however, Johnny Brownlee has a little known Olympic champion up his

:55:55. > :56:00.sleeve that could help push him over the line and it will be so good to

:56:01. > :56:04.see the guys going toe-to-toe in the race for the last time? We saw them

:56:05. > :56:09.in Leeds, brilliant together, again in Stockholme, they both finished in

:56:10. > :56:14.the gold and Silver Medal position. Then of course, at the Olympic

:56:15. > :56:18.Games. The fact that Al can't win the title, he hasn't raced enough,

:56:19. > :56:22.doesn't have enough points, means he's most definitely going to be

:56:23. > :56:25.working for his brother. Almost like a soap opera, you can see the

:56:26. > :56:28.storylines coming out. A fantastic end to the women's season and it's

:56:29. > :56:32.set to be another fantastic climax in the women's race as well. Thank

:56:33. > :56:35.you for joining us From all of us in Mexico and from us in Sal for, thank

:56:36. > :56:37.you for joining us, we'll see you tomorrow.
