:00:54. > :01:02.Is the most spectacular Olympic triathlon setting. 55 elite

:01:03. > :01:09.triathletes taking their places. They are away, what a spectacle.

:01:10. > :01:26.Richard VARGA . All three English athletes live

:01:27. > :01:34.there. Crucial to be in a tight, small pack. 10,000 metres between

:01:35. > :01:41.the triathletes and the medals. There is a bit of cat and mouse.

:01:42. > :01:43.Somebody wants to have a go. Alistair moving ahead of Jonathan.

:01:44. > :02:04.Will that be the decisive kick. Silver to Spirig. Bronze to Vicky

:02:05. > :02:09.Collins. It is a gold and silver for Alistair and Jonathan Brownlee. Six

:02:10. > :02:16.Olympic medallists, half of them British. Two races that will live

:02:17. > :02:20.long in the memory. From Brazil to Bamburgh Castle in Northumberland.

:02:21. > :02:25.We will join one of the many triathlon event is taking part

:02:26. > :02:30.across the country all summer long. The sport of triathlon is in rude

:02:31. > :02:35.health in the UK. Then there is the small matter of deciding the world

:02:36. > :02:39.titles. This Whee Kim's event in Edmonton, Canada is the last before

:02:40. > :02:43.the series comes to an end in Mexico at the end of the month. If the

:02:44. > :02:50.previous rounds are anything to go by, we are set for one thrilling

:02:51. > :03:02.finale. Jody Stimson takes the win in Abu Dhabi.

:03:03. > :03:12.Mola happy. Jenkins takes the victory. Their first win. First race

:03:13. > :03:25.in 2016 brings victory to nine Stanford. Mario Mola reinforces his

:03:26. > :03:33.position as world number one. Alistair Brownlee, he wins again.

:03:34. > :03:43.Outstanding performance by Gwen Jorgensen. Duffy has the win in

:03:44. > :03:51.Stockholm. What pace to finish. Mola winning in Hamburg. With two races

:03:52. > :03:58.of the 2016 series remaining, Mario Mola and Flora Duffy are the

:03:59. > :04:01.leaders. Last year in Edmonton, the

:04:02. > :04:06.conditions were as cold as they come, athletes having to content

:04:07. > :04:10.with hail and snow, never mind swimming, cycling and running. The

:04:11. > :04:14.athletes are hardy bunch, a great deal of them have amassed for more

:04:15. > :04:22.of the same. Including Jonny Brownlee and Vicky Holland. He only

:04:23. > :04:24.finished eighth in Rio, but Spain's Mario Mola is the outstanding

:04:25. > :04:30.performer in this year's World Series. In the absence of the older

:04:31. > :04:34.brother, Alistair, Jonny Brownlee is the inform athlete on the start

:04:35. > :04:39.line. Their first win of the season could put a serious dent in Mola's

:04:40. > :04:44.lead, with just the grand final to come. Let's take you to our

:04:45. > :04:50.commentary team, to talk you through the first race.

:04:51. > :04:59.Overcast and cold day in Alberta Canada. We have the men's elite race

:05:00. > :05:11.coming up. Sprint distance, the penultimate event of the World

:05:12. > :05:17.Triathlon Series, 2016. Cold water, wet suits welcomed by the athletes.

:05:18. > :05:23.Italy cold. Final preparations under way. Let's remind ourselves of the

:05:24. > :05:30.tour, beginning in Abu Dhabi, victory for Mario Mola. Winning

:05:31. > :05:40.again on the Gold Coast. He struck again in Yokohama. Alistair Brownlee

:05:41. > :05:48.winning in Leeds, he won again in Stockholm. Mola on top of the pile

:05:49. > :05:52.in Hamburg. Now they have made the journey across the Atlantic, to

:05:53. > :06:01.Edmonton, for a sprint competition, the same as them both. 750 metres in

:06:02. > :06:06.the water, for the swim. The bike is totalling 20 days. The run stays

:06:07. > :06:16.mainly in the confines of the park, heading out briefly. 5,000-metre run

:06:17. > :06:21.to the finish. Three laps of 1.76 kilometres. Following Edmonton, they

:06:22. > :06:24.will head south, in two weeks' time. Caribbean waters holding the grand

:06:25. > :06:52.final. Richard Murray won this race 12

:06:53. > :07:01.months ago, he starts at number 15. The world leader. Failed to fire in

:07:02. > :07:05.Rio. Can he turn it on, and consolidate his position at the top

:07:06. > :07:12.of the standings. He will have the Olympic silver-medallist for

:07:13. > :07:25.company, during the race. Richard Murray, a man to watch Tuesday. Like

:07:26. > :07:30.this course. -- to date. 49 elite triathletes, ready to dive into the

:07:31. > :07:37.cold waters here. Barely a breath of wind. All had a taste of the

:07:38. > :07:42.conditions. A feel of the chilly waters, and the wet suits are

:07:43. > :07:48.welcome as they spread out. Single lap around the lake. Heading back to

:07:49. > :07:52.the beach, before they ride 20 kilometres, then run five

:07:53. > :08:00.kilometres, to finish off today's penultimate stage of the 20 16th

:08:01. > :08:12.World Triathlon Series tour. The grand final in the warm waters in

:08:13. > :08:17.Mexico. -- 2016. Jonny Brownlee making a flying start, trying to

:08:18. > :08:26.kick away from the west of the -- rest of the field. He's trying to

:08:27. > :08:29.chase his training partner Richard Varga. One of the best swimmers on

:08:30. > :08:40.the tour, proving that over the years. Number 12, he trains with the

:08:41. > :08:46.Brownlee Brothers in Leeds, and Saint Moritz. He was Pimenta what's

:08:47. > :08:55.coming out of the waters in Rio, finishing ultimately 11 in the

:08:56. > :09:05.triathlon. The company a gap of three, or four metres. A battle

:09:06. > :09:13.going on behind him. Number 46, one of the local triathletes, from

:09:14. > :09:20.Canada. Varga moving clear of the field. Massive advantage. Does not

:09:21. > :09:25.serve him well to be that far ahead. When he gets out on a bike, he will

:09:26. > :09:29.want some company. Let's see who else will stay with him as they

:09:30. > :09:37.start to make the succession of terms. We will expect Jonny Brownlee

:09:38. > :09:43.to be pretty close. Hernandez is a decent swimmer. Mario Mola, the swim

:09:44. > :09:50.let him down in Rio, the Olympic triathlon. Never really got going in

:09:51. > :09:54.the Atlantic swells. Happy with the calmer conditions to date. The cold

:09:55. > :10:03.might be a factor for Mario Mola, in Edmonton. Richard Varga leads. Jonny

:10:04. > :10:14.Brownlee trying to follow him in the early stages there. 600 metres down,

:10:15. > :10:19.150 to go, in the swim. There is a passage up the beach, on the soft

:10:20. > :10:24.sand. Up along to where the bikes apart. While they are running,

:10:25. > :10:36.starting to remove their wet suits. Preparing for the arrival, where the

:10:37. > :10:41.bikes apart. We saw shots of Jonny Brownlee, sending a duck and running

:10:42. > :10:50.for cover. We saw shots of him parking his bike. Should he put the

:10:51. > :10:55.rear wheel in? Going through the motions, rehearsing his transition

:10:56. > :11:00.strategy. He spent ten minutes making sure everything was ready to

:11:01. > :11:07.go. Very easy to forget how important the basics are. Varga out

:11:08. > :11:19.of the water, looks around to see how the others are doing behind him.

:11:20. > :11:24.Jonny Brownlee has been caught. Aaron Royle, from Australia. Matt

:11:25. > :11:32.Sharp, the Canadian. The Canadians with something to get excited about.

:11:33. > :11:40.Then Matt Roberts, Tom Bishop. The second of the British pair. We will

:11:41. > :11:45.keep an eye on the union flags. Richard Murray 25 seconds off the

:11:46. > :11:59.pace. Work to do, to get near the lead group. Ron Shelton, 19. Adam

:12:00. > :12:22.Boutin. Varga is away. Now they tried to blank out that

:12:23. > :12:27.feeling of cold. No time to get warm, no sun to warm the skin.

:12:28. > :12:32.Overcast and very chilly. Looking at the transition area, we get an idea

:12:33. > :12:39.of how stretched the swim got. Very close early on. As the cold to hold,

:12:40. > :12:45.really stretching out. Tremendous win by Richard Varga. Jonny Brownlee

:12:46. > :12:50.looking to escape in second place. We will see whether they can

:12:51. > :12:54.establish a leading pack. Great to see Tom Bishop up there, some would

:12:55. > :13:00.say unlucky not to get Olympic selection. Having a good performance

:13:01. > :13:07.here. We have a group of three. Jonny Brownlee, Aaron Royal, Richard

:13:08. > :13:14.Varga. They could do some damage there. They have got away from the

:13:15. > :13:21.next group of ten or so. We will see how that forms in a moment. Jonny

:13:22. > :13:26.Brownlee bossing things. Like his brother, he will be vocal in this

:13:27. > :13:29.situation. Aaron Royal has been in this situation before we Jonny

:13:30. > :13:35.Brownlee. That breakaway group, we saw it earlier in Leeds. They will

:13:36. > :13:40.be delighted that this scenario has presented itself. Aaron Royal had a

:13:41. > :13:46.good result in this race one year ago. He was fifth. Winning time by

:13:47. > :13:52.Richard Murray, 53 minutes, 19 seconds. It was similarly cold. We

:13:53. > :13:59.should expect the same sort of time today. They take their turn, a few

:14:00. > :14:06.revolutions clear of each other's wheels. The leading trio, Jonny

:14:07. > :14:12.Brownlee, Aaron Royal, Richard Varga. Crossing the North

:14:13. > :14:19.Saskatchewan River. Before they make their way along Victoria Park Road.

:14:20. > :14:23.They were head west, first of all. 180 degrees turn, heading east

:14:24. > :14:28.before the left turn takes them back over the river, back into the park.

:14:29. > :14:33.We can see how hard they work coming out of transition. Jonny Brownlee

:14:34. > :14:38.only just now getting his feet tightened into the shoes.

:14:39. > :14:42.Establishing the lead before he went back to the basics, making sure

:14:43. > :14:48.everything was done correctly. Where is Mario Mola? That is key to the

:14:49. > :14:55.way the rankings will unfold over the next two races. This one and the

:14:56. > :15:02.grand final. Mola, we know, does not deal well with the cold. He is back

:15:03. > :15:06.in this pack, we think. Yet to get an official sighting. There is Grant

:15:07. > :15:10.Sheldon. Fourth in the chasing group.

:15:11. > :15:21.We think Adam Bowden and Bishop... They are both in that front group.

:15:22. > :15:25.Mario Mola has won the Golden number one on his arm in every World

:15:26. > :15:29.Triathlon Series race he has competed in this year. He has been a

:15:30. > :15:38.number one since the start of the season. Mario Mola places fourth or

:15:39. > :15:43.below, and Johnny Brownlee wins today, they will be just 128 points

:15:44. > :15:54.apart heading into the grand final in Cozumel. We have the leading

:15:55. > :15:58.three, Brownlee, Royle and Varga. We will get a check on the time

:15:59. > :16:04.difference and see how it changes between the leading group of three

:16:05. > :16:12.and that next group of 20 or so. It is now officially 19 seconds, at the

:16:13. > :16:17.end of lap one. Bishop, Sheldon and Bowden are all in that group. Have

:16:18. > :16:21.we seen Mario Mola's name come up on that list yet? I have just seen him

:16:22. > :16:28.coming through now. Was he in the lead group, I think not. My goodness

:16:29. > :16:35.me, 38 seconds down. Mario Mola trails Johnny Brownlee by 38

:16:36. > :16:43.seconds. It's a huge amount of time. This race is Johnny Brownlee's for

:16:44. > :16:49.the winning. A little bit of encouragement for Johnny Brownlee.

:16:50. > :16:52.Just encouraging Richard Varga to come through, saying, come on, we

:16:53. > :17:02.have done it so many times in training, let's make it count today.

:17:03. > :17:10.Chase group. Once again Vincente Hernandez forces his way through.

:17:11. > :17:13.Got the Olympic qualification once Gomez was forced to declare himself

:17:14. > :17:18.out of the games with that bike training accident he suffered.

:17:19. > :17:23.Getting towards the end of lap two. Johnny Brownlee is the most

:17:24. > :17:31.successful triathletes in the field, with ten career World Triathlon

:17:32. > :17:37.Series wins on two Olympic medals, a silver and bronze. Mario Mola has

:17:38. > :17:41.seven World Triathlon Series wins. Royle, Johnny Brownlee and Varga.

:17:42. > :17:44.Last time we stopped the clock at the end of the first lap they were

:17:45. > :17:49.19 seconds clear of their rivals. Let's see if there has been any

:17:50. > :17:57.significant change. It has come down quite a lot, down to 12 now. That is

:17:58. > :18:04.seven seconds taken out of their lead. They are working together

:18:05. > :18:09.well. All due credit to that chase pack. Perhaps that is going to be

:18:10. > :18:14.something for Adam Bowden to think of. A very, very strong runner.

:18:15. > :18:22.Moving back through, giving himself a chance, as is Bishop. He says --

:18:23. > :18:27.some say he is unlucky not to gain Olympic selection. The surface still

:18:28. > :18:31.dry and this time they will take the bell. Next time three year they will

:18:32. > :18:36.be hanging up their bikes and heading out on the run. The clock

:18:37. > :18:45.has started. The chase pack are coming through, and another second.

:18:46. > :18:51.So, only one second, 19 seconds at the end of lap one, 12 seconds at

:18:52. > :18:56.the end of lap two, 11 seconds at the end of lap three. No further

:18:57. > :19:01.real damage done. We do have Richard Murray in that group and he does

:19:02. > :19:10.have to be the danger man going into the final discipline, the run. Yes,

:19:11. > :19:16.but danger to Royle and Varga, possibly, to Brownlee, possibly not.

:19:17. > :19:21.How much did the Rio Olympics take out of him? How much did that lone

:19:22. > :19:25.effort last we can take out of him? A great racer, a hard, hard man.

:19:26. > :19:31.Sometimes you just have to juggle the efforts going in, with Cozumel

:19:32. > :19:35.and a couple of weeks' time, knowing he does have an opportunity to be

:19:36. > :19:39.the overall world champion this year. So many different judgment

:19:40. > :19:50.calls. It's going to be a fascinating one.

:19:51. > :20:02.Jonny Brownlee allowed to move forward to the front. A little

:20:03. > :20:06.twitch sideways for Aaron Royle, I thought for a second he might catch

:20:07. > :20:12.the rear wheel of Richard Varga but he has managed to stay out of

:20:13. > :20:18.trouble. Richard Varga currently ranked 30 in the world. Not quite

:20:19. > :20:24.the complete package, Richard Varga. Swims really well, able to keep pace

:20:25. > :20:32.with all of them whether it is a 20 K sprint or a 40 K full Olympic

:20:33. > :20:39.cycle run. But when it comes to running, he struggles. 13 seconds on

:20:40. > :20:46.the leaders have less than four kilometres left to ride.

:20:47. > :20:53.Hasn't been much talk between them since that first lap. I'm sure there

:20:54. > :20:59.have been words exchanged, but they got down to work effectively and

:21:00. > :21:04.officially, and they've kept the rest of them clear. Mola has made

:21:05. > :21:11.his way back from group three and now heads a group two. It's been a

:21:12. > :21:17.good cycle so far from Mario Mola. He leads the chase group up the

:21:18. > :21:21.hill. He can see his prey, the Brownlee group, at the top of the

:21:22. > :21:25.hill. Royle out of the saddle, glances over his shoulder. He will

:21:26. > :21:32.see the red of Mario Mola. But still the leading three are able to keep

:21:33. > :21:40.clear of the rest of them. I guess Royle is the man in that lead group

:21:41. > :21:45.who possibly has the most to lose. Possibly he could get on the podium

:21:46. > :21:49.but realising that Bowden and Murray are closing up without five

:21:50. > :21:53.kilometre run to go... Now they get the awful feeling of watching the

:21:54. > :21:57.leaders go off in the opposite direction, while they are still

:21:58. > :22:02.climbing towards the turn. It could be that the gap has grown by another

:22:03. > :22:07.couple of seconds. It was 11 seconds officially at the end of lap three,

:22:08. > :22:14.I think it might be closer to 13 now. There is Varga again. Varga is

:22:15. > :22:23.doing absolutely everything he can to get as much speed out of his

:22:24. > :22:26.bike. Brownlee and Royle happy to draft in behind. Credit to him,

:22:27. > :22:31.trying something new, seeing if it works. I think everyone was

:22:32. > :22:36.astonished watching Chris Froome on that long descent on the tour. If

:22:37. > :22:39.you can't learn from the Best, who can you learn from? Worth trying

:22:40. > :22:42.something. Let's see if it works, if it does, great, and if not, discard

:22:43. > :22:57.it. They will cross the river for the

:22:58. > :23:06.last time and head back into the park. Jonny looks over to see who's

:23:07. > :23:17.next in line. The back of the chase group. 102-macro here not doing too

:23:18. > :23:18.much work. -- one or two. Those who need the places, need the points at

:23:19. > :23:30.the front of the chase group. So, that's where they are, on

:23:31. > :23:34.opposite sides of the North Saskatchewan River. 18 seconds now.

:23:35. > :23:40.They have had a good lap. The leaders have really saved their best

:23:41. > :23:42.until the fourth lap, and have left it all out there on the streets of

:23:43. > :23:56.Edmonton. Even more effort from Richard Varga

:23:57. > :23:59.as they sense the second transition. Needs to gain every possible second

:24:00. > :24:00.that they can to give themselves a opportunity of getting on the

:24:01. > :24:15.podium. John is doing lots of work. Really

:24:16. > :24:20.is pushing hard. He wants a significant lead by the time he

:24:21. > :24:26.arrives for this 5000 metre race which will follow.

:24:27. > :24:35.So much effort in that second group. Straight lining off at the front,

:24:36. > :24:43.extending the speed going through. There are the chaste. -- those being

:24:44. > :24:57.chased. Varga, heads down, getting his feet down. Last 700 metres.

:24:58. > :25:04.Now... How long will Varga and Royle be able to stay with Jonny Brownlee,

:25:05. > :25:09.all will Royle have something in reserve to give Jonny Brownlee a run

:25:10. > :25:13.for its money? Not sure Richard Varga got that dismount right. Did

:25:14. > :25:17.he overstepped the line? We will find out, if the judges are being

:25:18. > :25:21.hot on that today. Jonny Brownlee has learned his lesson in the past,

:25:22. > :25:26.in the 2012 Olympics with the dismount line. He has arrived

:25:27. > :25:29.safely. The helmet is in the box alongside the wet suit. The shoes

:25:30. > :25:34.are going on and he should move quickly. He is on his way. He has

:25:35. > :25:38.Richard Varga for company. Royle wasn't quite as quick. Royle has

:25:39. > :25:44.been left behind. That was a good finish by some of the chase pack.

:25:45. > :25:49.That 18 seconds we were given at as they crossed the bridge, the mid-lap

:25:50. > :25:55.time, clearly wasn't accurate. There was extra efforts being made by the

:25:56. > :25:59.chase group on the final stages of that lap. Mario Mola is in the

:26:00. > :26:04.middle of that group, as he sets off to try and carve his way up through

:26:05. > :26:13.the field and chase down this who leads the race. , not far off the

:26:14. > :26:16.entire field. Olympic silver medallist Jonny Brownlee. Just a

:26:17. > :26:22.couple of seconds over Richard Varga. Look at that. Ireland's White

:26:23. > :26:28.coming through just five seconds down. A tremendous cycle discipline

:26:29. > :26:36.for him. Pereira just nine seconds down. Steffen Justus. Russell White

:26:37. > :26:45.up into fourth position for the Republic of Ireland. Grant Sheldon.

:26:46. > :26:54.Pierre Le Corre, Richard Murray 11 seconds off the pace. There is Tom

:26:55. > :26:59.Bishop. And there is our leader, Jonathan Brownlee of Great Britain.

:27:00. > :27:05.He has hit the ground running. Excellent cycle, didn't hang about,

:27:06. > :27:09.didn't care about Royle and Varga, cycling partners, they are now back

:27:10. > :27:16.in the pack. Jonny Brownlee is out on his own. First lap underway.

:27:17. > :27:23.Three laps, all of 1.67 kilometres, to give the five kilometre total. He

:27:24. > :27:27.has taken it on early. Sheldon, just behind Richard Murray. Richard

:27:28. > :27:32.Murray could, as we suggested, get up into a podium position. Russell

:27:33. > :27:38.White of Ireland is there as well. Steffen Justus at the front. Mario

:27:39. > :27:43.Mola, with his familiar white visor, is bobbing around and about eighth

:27:44. > :27:46.position at this stage. They will all see Jonny Brownlee coming back

:27:47. > :27:52.down the road as they had up towards the turn.

:27:53. > :28:04.Very good performance by Grant Sheldon. And Tom Bishop going

:28:05. > :28:08.through as well. I think all the big players there. A bit of flower

:28:09. > :28:16.arranging going on on the turn. That will need to be cleared up! Jonny

:28:17. > :28:24.Brownlee gets stuck into the second half of lap one. Can anyone catch

:28:25. > :28:30.him? Is the lead is significant, 13 seconds. If you were to pick a one,

:28:31. > :28:35.two, three at this stage, Steve, what would you go with? I would go

:28:36. > :28:44.for Jonny Brownlee first. It's getting very exciting for second and

:28:45. > :28:49.third. Mario Mola scything his way through the field. He was way back

:28:50. > :28:57.in the third group at the start of the bike. Now he's up near Richard

:28:58. > :29:06.Murray, and these two, Murray and mola, likely to do battle for second

:29:07. > :29:13.position any minute now. I would suggest Jonny Brownlee has extended

:29:14. > :29:17.his lead quite significantly, as he is approaching the end of lap number

:29:18. > :29:23.one on the run. There is always that juggling is how much the second

:29:24. > :29:27.sprint, the cycling, has taken out of the athletes. It seems like John

:29:28. > :29:32.was working very hard indeed, but his run as strong as ever. You would

:29:33. > :29:35.think Mario Mola and Richard Murray behind him, the guys you would

:29:36. > :29:40.expect would be closing down. We will get a clear indication when we

:29:41. > :29:44.get the official time check. Jonny Brownlee has ten or 11 minutes left

:29:45. > :29:49.in this race. The winning timely year ago, Richard Murray's winning

:29:50. > :29:57.time in 2015, 53 minutes and 19 seconds. Two laps to go. And at the

:29:58. > :30:07.moment Jonny Brownlee leads the way. Richard Murray is second. Grant

:30:08. > :30:26.Sheldon is third and Mario Mola is up to fifth at this stage.

:30:27. > :30:35.With a landslide Jonny Brownlee has won this one already. 3.9 kilometres

:30:36. > :30:48.to go. Excellent running by Grant Sheldon. He is an strong company.

:30:49. > :30:56.Mola and Sheldon on either side. A couple of weeks ago Grant Sheldon

:30:57. > :31:12.raced and won the world University triathlon Championships in

:31:13. > :31:23.Nyon. Also thirdly the European triathlon Championships and fifth in

:31:24. > :31:28.the European under 23 championships. He has had some good results in

:31:29. > :31:36.recent weeks. Currently in good company. The battle for the

:31:37. > :31:44.remaining two podium positions between Richard Murray, Mario Mola

:31:45. > :31:50.and Grant Sheldon. Jonny Brownlee lapping athletes. When you see

:31:51. > :31:55.athletes getting lapped on Sprint distance. Five and a half, possibly

:31:56. > :32:01.six minutes taking out of them. With another eight, ten minutes to go.

:32:02. > :32:08.Grant Sheldon struggling to keep contact with Mario and the Mola.

:32:09. > :32:14.Jonny Brownlee cutting his way past those lapped runners, extending his

:32:15. > :32:25.lead. He will make the turn. They will get a close-up view of what

:32:26. > :32:33.they have to achieve. One of the lapped runners trying to get a toe

:32:34. > :32:39.on Brownlee. Marie was fourth in the Olympics. Mola had a disappointing

:32:40. > :32:46.time in Rio, finishing down in eighth position. That lead slip to

:32:47. > :32:56.be around 19, 20 seconds. With half of the run completed. 2.5 kilometres

:32:57. > :33:03.left to run for Jonny Brownlee. The next time he crosses the transition

:33:04. > :33:08.area, he will take the veil. Surely there is no stopping him now. The

:33:09. > :33:16.Olympic silver-medallist. Showing the way. His brother absent.

:33:17. > :33:23.Alistair still the most successful triathletes in World Triathlon

:33:24. > :33:37.Series is to read. 21 wins. Only Javier Gomez comes close. Always

:33:38. > :33:40.those thoughts and doubts for the leading pack, that has had to work

:33:41. > :33:47.so hard establishing the lead they wanted to. Jonny Brownlee disproving

:33:48. > :33:52.that, working so hard right at the front of the bike section, going

:33:53. > :33:58.away, coming out of the transition from keeping it going right the way

:33:59. > :34:03.through. Sheldon in contention with Mola Andy Murray. I thought he may

:34:04. > :34:10.have got left behind, but sticking with them. Murray and Mola not being

:34:11. > :34:17.able to shake off Grant Sheldon. Back with the leader. 2012 triathlon

:34:18. > :34:25.world champion. Silver-medallist in the World Series, in 2011 and 2013.

:34:26. > :34:31.Twice the world sprint champion. Former under 23 triathlon world

:34:32. > :34:44.champion. Two Olympic medals, bronze and silver. It is the end of lap

:34:45. > :35:00.two. Jonny Brownlee, the second best triathletes in the world. Second

:35:01. > :35:06.best in Leeds! On his final lap, two down, one to go. Little bits of

:35:07. > :35:14.grimacing starting to feature on his facial expressions. 19 seconds over

:35:15. > :35:19.Mola Andy Murray. Grant Sheldon, could possibly put a never British

:35:20. > :35:32.triathlete on the podium. Tom Bishop, not far-away. Adam Bowden

:35:33. > :35:42.seven. We could have four in the top ten. Adam Bowden has had some

:35:43. > :35:48.promising results in 2016. With the lead at 19 seconds, Grant Sheldon in

:35:49. > :35:58.the chasing trio, that would be a sensational breakthrough. Johnny

:35:59. > :36:08.clearly serious about winning the world title. He would go

:36:09. > :36:11.head-to-head with Mario Mola in two weeks' time. A question of

:36:12. > :36:18.mathematics, who takes the title, the points being sorted during that

:36:19. > :36:23.final Olympic distance race. There is one race on a Saturday, one race

:36:24. > :36:29.on Sunday. You can see it all on the BBC. Jonny Brownlee deep in his

:36:30. > :36:37.final lap. Just over one kilometres run. On his way to claim his 11th

:36:38. > :36:42.World Triathlon Series victory. And to up the stakes in the race for the

:36:43. > :36:51.World Triathlon Series title, for 2016. Jonny Brownlee versus Mario

:36:52. > :36:58.Mola in a few weeks' time in Mexico. In Edmonton, Mario Mola versus

:36:59. > :37:09.Richard Murray, for second position. We think Grant Sheldon is in good

:37:10. > :37:13.shape to take four. Heading up to the turn for the final time. Sheldon

:37:14. > :37:33.holding on to fourth place. He has the German athlete behind him.

:37:34. > :37:43.British triathletes in first, fourth, fifth and eighth at this

:37:44. > :37:47.stage. 22 seconds the gap. Perhaps Tom Bishop beginning to challenge

:37:48. > :37:52.Grant Sheldon for that fourth place at the moment. Is it beyond a dream

:37:53. > :38:03.to close down on these two? Perhaps it is. If there is going to be a

:38:04. > :38:09.sprint finish, it will be between Murray and Mola. We have seen that a

:38:10. > :38:24.couple of times this season. Did not see it a couple of races ago, in

:38:25. > :38:31.Stockholm. In Hamburg, it was. Mola and Murray, is set to have a final

:38:32. > :38:35.lap battle. Murray had to take the penalty, which she was not

:38:36. > :38:41.expecting. Did not exactly cover himself in glory that day, Richard

:38:42. > :38:49.Murray. Out in front, Jonny Brownlee tidying things up here. Leading from

:38:50. > :38:55.the start, from the water. Following Richard Varga out of the water.

:38:56. > :39:00.Joining the trio that control the bike stage. Alongside Aaron Royle

:39:01. > :39:09.and Richard Varga. Bursting into transition. Escaping transition

:39:10. > :39:14.quicker than anyone. He had known one for company. Within seconds he

:39:15. > :39:21.was eight seconds clear of the next best. Stretching the lead until

:39:22. > :39:27.around the 22nd mark. Now after 51 minutes of this sprint distance

:39:28. > :39:28.triathlon, Jonny Brownlee is on his way to World Triathlon Series

:39:29. > :39:43.victory number 11. It has been the performance of

:39:44. > :39:51.experience, intelligence and ability. Enjoying every moment of

:39:52. > :39:58.this. Had to settle for second behind his older brother in Rio de

:39:59. > :40:08.Janeiro. Thoroughly enjoying this victory in Edmonton. Jonathan

:40:09. > :40:14.Brownlee, winning in Canada. Mario Mola has broken clear of Richard

:40:15. > :40:18.Murray. He will come home for second. Import in second place for

:40:19. > :40:24.Mola. Richard Murray coming home third. A battle on between the

:40:25. > :40:34.British triathletes. France Sheldon holding on for four. -- Grant

:40:35. > :40:43.Sheldon. Getting there just be for Tom Bishop, who was fifth. Adam

:40:44. > :40:45.Bowden makes it four British triathletes in the top ten in

:40:46. > :40:59.Edmonton. No one could touch Jonny Brownlee to

:41:00. > :41:08.day. Spectacular victory. Over the sprint distance. It is all about

:41:09. > :41:14.Mario, in the next race, if he has a good one he has won. I could not do

:41:15. > :41:25.much better than that. Good result. All up to the last race. A few times

:41:26. > :41:30.I was thinking, I wish Alistair was there, to sit on his wheel. We will

:41:31. > :41:36.see what clannish APs in, not seen him for two weeks. It will make a

:41:37. > :41:41.big difference. Richard Murray third, to victory in this race 12

:41:42. > :41:47.months ago. He has had a difficult season. Smashed up his collarbone,

:41:48. > :41:54.in the incident with the unknown penalty in Hamburg. The fine that

:41:55. > :41:59.followed, losing all his points. Back on the podium today, with one

:42:00. > :42:05.race to come. Mario Mola, third in this race a year ago. Maintains

:42:06. > :42:14.control of the World Triathlon Series standings. A couple of

:42:15. > :42:19.hundred points clear of Jonny Brownlee. Looking forward to the

:42:20. > :42:24.decider. Disappointing race in Rio. Finishing down in eighth place. Up

:42:25. > :42:31.to second today. Following a really good run. Everything went swimmingly

:42:32. > :42:39.for Jonny Brownlee to date. Started the race, towed through the lake by

:42:40. > :42:44.his good training partner, Varga. Setting up the work on the bike with

:42:45. > :42:51.Varga and Aaron Royle. Exploding out of transition. Taking the race by

:42:52. > :42:56.the scruff of the neck. Went into first position, and stayed there.

:42:57. > :43:10.Now, with one race to go, the difference between them is just over

:43:11. > :43:15.200 points. One of the biggest difference at this Bamburgh Castle

:43:16. > :43:19.event is the children's triathlon. Involving some of the best

:43:20. > :43:24.up-and-coming triathletes in the country. Many inspired to get

:43:25. > :43:29.involved in 2012, when the Brownlee brothers won gold and bronze in

:43:30. > :43:35.London. They will encouraged a new generation after their exploits in

:43:36. > :43:39.Rio. As well written's first Olympic medallist in triathlon, Vicky

:43:40. > :43:46.Pollard. What Vicky has achieved has been fantastic. Richly deserved

:43:47. > :43:52.bronze medal for Vicky Holland. Highlighting her qualities as a

:43:53. > :43:59.person. Holland winning in Cape Town, in some style. Fantastic

:44:00. > :44:05.competitor. Holland takes the win in Edmonton. Stunning result. She

:44:06. > :44:09.raises her game. We will see her in Brazil, courtesy of her third-place

:44:10. > :44:18.finish. It can be anywhere in the world. She's tough cookie. The

:44:19. > :44:23.bronze, to Vicky Holland, of Great Britain. Vicky's Olympic medal

:44:24. > :44:28.winning potential came to the fore last season with two World Series

:44:29. > :44:35.wins, the last of which came in Edmonton. Back aiming to defend her

:44:36. > :44:43.title, as is her housemate and the 2013 champion Stanford, she was

:44:44. > :44:47.pipped to that Olympic medal in Rio. In terms of the overall title, that

:44:48. > :44:52.will have to wait for another year for both of them. We just two events

:44:53. > :44:59.to go, there are intense and 17th place. Like Olympic champion Gwen

:45:00. > :45:03.Jorgensen, not start line in Edmonton. Neither have been

:45:04. > :45:07.competing enough races to content for the title.

:45:08. > :45:11.Flora Duffy has been the most consistent performer throughout the

:45:12. > :45:17.season and you would have to say, at this stage, it is her title to lose.

:45:18. > :45:22.But don't discount Britain's Jodie Stimpson. So unlucky to miss out on

:45:23. > :45:25.selection for Rio, Jodie returned to action this weekend, having spent

:45:26. > :45:29.the last month training in Colorado. If she Kimmich the podium and finish

:45:30. > :45:33.ahead of Duffy, with one race to go it could be the Commonwealth

:45:34. > :45:46.champion's name topping the leaderboard. To see how the race

:45:47. > :45:48.unfolds it is time to hand you back to our commentators. COMMENTATOR:

:45:49. > :45:51.Here is the start this. Flora Duffy wears number one, as the number one

:45:52. > :45:54.ranked athlete in the world. Jodie Stimpson has number two. The other

:45:55. > :45:58.British athletes are Vicky Holland, with number six. Non Stanford,

:45:59. > :46:05.fourth in the Olympics, is 11. Lucy Hall is here, she has 27. And

:46:06. > :46:10.Jessica Learmonth has number 29. The last few elite triathletes being

:46:11. > :46:21.introduced to the crowds, as they make their way down onto the carpet.

:46:22. > :46:27.Duffy could be one to watch today. Eighth in the Olympics, Flora Duffy.

:46:28. > :46:32.The World Series title remains her focus. The same goes for Jodie

:46:33. > :46:41.Stimpson. The final countdown for the start. Round eight of the World

:46:42. > :46:48.Triathlon Series for 2016 in Edmonton, in Canada, in Alberta, in

:46:49. > :46:55.very cold water, gets underway. They will be keen to get this 750 metre

:46:56. > :47:00.swim done and dusted just as quickly as possible, Steve. Absolutely. I

:47:01. > :47:05.think we may be seeing a big British presence here today. Along with our

:47:06. > :47:10.Olympians on Jodie Stimpson, number 27 Lucy Hall and 29 Jessica

:47:11. > :47:14.Learmonth, they have really smashed the race in Leeds and put a

:47:15. > :47:20.complexion on it we may not have seen otherwise. A total contrast to

:47:21. > :47:27.the last time most of these athletes raced in Rio, salt water, heavy

:47:28. > :47:32.Atlantic swells, warmth. Now, freshwater, millpond still and

:47:33. > :47:36.absolutely freezing. And they are heading out to the centre of this

:47:37. > :47:44.lake, where they will make their turn, two turns to negotiate before

:47:45. > :47:53.they come back to the beach and exit, taking their wet suits. The

:47:54. > :48:00.bikes are for laps. 20 kilometres on the bike and a five kilometre run to

:48:01. > :48:07.thing this finish things off. -- to finish things off. The official

:48:08. > :48:11.water temperature, 17.1 degrees. I think we may be brewing in the wind

:48:12. > :48:15.chill factor before the race started... Watching the athletes

:48:16. > :48:20.warming up, they did seem to be filled in the cold conditions. A

:48:21. > :48:25.frenetic and frantic start from the athletes. Almost straight lining,

:48:26. > :48:29.desperate. They will be delighted is a sprint distance in the cold

:48:30. > :48:35.conditions. We did see a couple of the athletes, Jessica Learmonth from

:48:36. > :48:39.Great Britain, looking under her left arm, left shoulder, to see who

:48:40. > :48:44.is with her. She will be desperately hoping, anticipating perhaps that

:48:45. > :48:52.Lucy Hall is going to be with her. Just a short journey from the beach

:48:53. > :48:56.to the bikes, and then a five lap circuit in and around the park. They

:48:57. > :49:05.will head across the North Saskatchewan River, before making a

:49:06. > :49:10.short excursion down Victoria Park Road and returning back to the park

:49:11. > :49:24.here through the Emily Murphy Park and into the transition area,

:49:25. > :49:28.alongside the late. -- the lake. With between nine and ten minutes,

:49:29. > :49:35.it's looking to be the case again, in fact just under. 8.58 or

:49:36. > :49:39.thereabouts. Fast paced swim, happy to be out. Nine minutes dead for

:49:40. > :49:52.Jessica Learmonth, Flora Duffy follows. Then the Americans Rio.

:49:53. > :49:54.Sarah True comes out in temps, followed by Gillian Backhouse. -- in

:49:55. > :49:58.tenth place. Melanie Santos is through. Anya

:49:59. > :50:18.Knapp. The leaders have arrived at their

:50:19. > :50:23.bikes. Jodie Stimpson is 37 seconds off the pace. Stimpson came out just

:50:24. > :50:27.a head of Vicky Holland, was 40 seconds down. Jessica Learmonth the

:50:28. > :50:33.best of the British contingent so far, as the world number one, in

:50:34. > :50:36.terms of rankings in the world draft on series standings, reaches her

:50:37. > :50:42.bike. The wet suit has gone in the box. The helmet is on an Duffy is

:50:43. > :50:48.first to arrive and first to leave transition, no way for the first of

:50:49. > :50:51.the five laps on two wheels. Feet resting on the shoes that are

:50:52. > :51:00.attached to the pedals. She will figure out the finer details as she

:51:01. > :51:08.gets going. The two Germans struggling with the early pace. Anja

:51:09. > :51:11.Knapp could do OK here today. Doesn't mind the cold. Jodie

:51:12. > :51:18.Stimpson isn't looking particularly fast at the moment. She is on her

:51:19. > :51:24.way now, some way behind Flora Duffy, who is already deep into lap

:51:25. > :51:27.one. Just caught a glimpse of Non Stanford who were significantly

:51:28. > :51:32.behind these leaders here. I would suggest may be as much as 45-50

:51:33. > :51:35.seconds behind. I think that is an indication of how much the cold

:51:36. > :51:40.played its part. Flora Duffy absolutely working to her strengths.

:51:41. > :51:45.She comes from Bermuda, world athlete, she is all over the planet,

:51:46. > :51:48.but the way she dealt with that, the cold water, absolutely flying in

:51:49. > :51:56.transition, superb mount and looking to get away.

:51:57. > :52:05.Jessica Learmonth there. But there is a group here of eight forming at

:52:06. > :52:10.the front of the field, led by Flora Duffy. We know that Duffy can really

:52:11. > :52:13.do some damage on the bike. She is capable of breaking away, and she

:52:14. > :52:19.will want to force a ferocious pace and make the others work for their

:52:20. > :52:22.prize today. Cook of the USA is at the back of that group. Then

:52:23. > :52:38.Zaferes. Very, very good lead out from Flora

:52:39. > :52:43.Duffy. A bit disappointing for a couple of the British athletes.

:52:44. > :52:47.Vicky Holland and Non Stanford third and fourth in the Olympic Games. Not

:52:48. > :52:57.really getting that urge to go to the lead pack, but working hard,

:52:58. > :53:01.Flora Duffy, as we would expect. Rabie taking their chances with the

:53:02. > :53:05.cold, taking sleeves to try and stay as warm as possible. There is no

:53:06. > :53:09.chance, because the air temperature, the water was bad enough, the air

:53:10. > :53:13.temperature is about 8 degrees are not due to get much higher today. It

:53:14. > :53:20.is like an early winter race rather than a late summer outing here. Good

:53:21. > :53:25.to have a British presence here with Lucy Hall. That was a tremendous

:53:26. > :53:28.transition from Lucy. She was just a few seconds down coming out and has

:53:29. > :53:32.really established herself out there, more than happy to take her

:53:33. > :53:38.turn at the front, knowing that if there was any weakness in her

:53:39. > :53:42.triathlon third discipline, the run. She will be determined work hard on

:53:43. > :53:48.the bike. As indeed is Flora Duffy. As soon as there is any lessening in

:53:49. > :53:51.the pace whatsoever, Flora goes straight to the front. The leading

:53:52. > :53:58.group have arrived at the end of their first lap. A couple of tight

:53:59. > :54:02.turns to negotiate. There is a threat of rain, thankfully it is dry

:54:03. > :54:14.at the moment. A decent crowd in transition, as Duffy comes through.

:54:15. > :54:18.A group of nine on the front. We will get a check on the difference

:54:19. > :54:24.between the chasers on the leaders at the end of each lap. Mid-lap the

:54:25. > :54:30.distance was 26 seconds. I think it might be slightly more than that,

:54:31. > :54:36.because they complete the first lap. 29 seconds the difference between

:54:37. > :54:43.the leaders on the chasers at the end of the first lap of four.

:54:44. > :54:47.Holland is in that group, and Jodie Stimpson as well. I think Stanford

:54:48. > :54:51.in that group as well. She must work hard coming out of the transition.

:54:52. > :54:58.Good news for Flora Duffy at the front, because no Jodie Stimpson in

:54:59. > :55:02.that group or Andrea Hewitt. Flora Duffy looking to establish her

:55:03. > :55:08.position as the number one in the world rankings. Yes, if Duffy

:55:09. > :55:13.finishes fourth on lower today and Jodie Stimpson is third, they would

:55:14. > :55:20.be tied heading into the final race in Cozumel in Mexico, once again

:55:21. > :55:25.back to the warmth. That is in two weeks' time. The way things look at

:55:26. > :55:30.the moment, it is unlikely Stimpson is going to play much a part in the

:55:31. > :55:34.final stages of this race. She is too far back, 29 seconds. Summer

:55:35. > :55:42.Cook now struggling with the pace at the front of the race. The front of

:55:43. > :55:49.nine has shrunk to a group of eight. I think if anything the pace of this

:55:50. > :55:54.front group has actually gone up. It seems Rabie is working hard. We have

:02:08. > :02:11.is probably very similar to the time difference is that we registered at

:02:12. > :02:16.the end of the second lap. I am not sure this chase group have taken any

:02:17. > :02:24.more time out of the leaders. In fact, it's gone away from them even

:02:25. > :02:31.further. It is out to 31 seconds. At the end of lap one it was 29, lap

:02:32. > :02:42.two it was 26, now 31 seconds is the gap. Jessica Learmonth is in that

:02:43. > :02:49.chase pack. It is a massive group. The safest place to be is at the

:02:50. > :02:54.front of it, dictating the pace. It has to be, even this far out, just

:02:55. > :02:58.thinking about the transition... Going in with that huge pack, if you

:02:59. > :03:02.can be at the front, it really does save you so much time coming

:03:03. > :03:06.through. I'm surprised Flora Duffy is still leading, still doing the

:03:13. > :03:17.Stanford working so hard, trying to close down a few seconds to give

:03:18. > :03:20.herself a chance. Once again we see Summer Cook really having to work so

:03:21. > :03:25.hard just to re-establish contact with the lead pack. This race is

:05:22. > :05:40.well. Summer Cook cruising, taking her

:05:41. > :05:44.hand down to the shoot, immediately putting it back on the handlebars,

:05:45. > :05:53.inexperienced rider from doing well to stay with this group. C was she

:05:54. > :05:57.can do five run. Great move by Flora Duffy approaching transition, right

:05:58. > :06:03.at the front, once clear space of the roots of the long run at the

:06:04. > :06:09.front. Making sure she is leaving. They have to get that right, the

:06:10. > :06:19.dismantled line just after the turn. Quite a tricky arrival in

:06:20. > :06:26.transition. Duffy mailing it so far. Let's see who is first to break from

:06:27. > :06:33.transition at the end of the bike. Some are Cook losing seconds

:06:34. > :06:39.approaching transition. She was still getting ready to put her bike

:06:40. > :06:55.in the apparatus. Lucy Hall with the red gloves. The second group coming

:06:56. > :07:02.in. Some are Cook getting tangled with the chasing group. Something

:07:03. > :07:06.went wrong going into transition. Certainly something happened. Five

:07:07. > :07:14.or six seconds down. Losing 20, 25 seconds. Keeping us entertained, one

:07:15. > :07:19.way or another. Casper first to break at the front of the

:07:20. > :07:24.5,000-metre run. Never winning a World Triathlon Series race.

:07:25. > :07:35.Certainly making her intentions clear.

:07:36. > :07:43.Flora Duffy starts to move up. Perhaps lower out of transition than

:07:44. > :07:53.we have been used to seeing. She has two works so hard on the run. Slow

:07:54. > :08:01.and cautious, sitting on the shoulder of Sarah True. Kasper with

:08:02. > :08:08.some good results, fifth in Cape Town, ninth in Yokohama. Second in a

:08:09. > :08:14.sprint race in Rotterdam. Part of the European travel and Union,

:08:15. > :08:19.European cup. She has her compatriot, Sarah True on her

:08:20. > :08:29.shoulder. Easing to the front of the field. Sarah True winning a sprint

:08:30. > :08:34.World Series race in the past. Taking Stockholm in 2014. Further

:08:35. > :08:42.down the field, Vicky Holland making a move. With a gap of 37 seconds at

:08:43. > :08:47.the end of the final lap, an awful lot of work to do over five

:08:48. > :08:52.kilometres. The lead group beginning to break up. Flora Duffy's

:08:53. > :09:00.relatively slow move out of transition. The leading group

:09:01. > :09:04.beginning to split quite early on. I think we can see the second pack,

:09:05. > :09:11.the leaders not to far-away from closing in. Then, not too far on

:09:12. > :09:19.closing down from the bulk of the lead group. Lucy Hall after the

:09:20. > :09:36.superb swim and bike ride, looking like she's feeling it. Sarah Hall.

:09:37. > :09:43.This run split into three laps, at 1.67 kilometres, making up a total

:09:51. > :09:59.lot of time out of that 32nd, 37 second deficit she had at the end of

:10:00. > :10:09.the bike. Getting close to Some are Cook. Injection of pace after the

:10:10. > :10:26.turn from Sarah True. Duffy and Kasper able to match it. The top

:10:27. > :10:32.three ahead of the field. You can see Some are Cook. If she had got

:10:33. > :10:38.the transition right, she may be saving something for the run, with

:10:39. > :10:43.the shenanigans on the bike. If she had not messed up the transition,

:10:44. > :10:50.seem to get stuck, she might be up with the leaders. Vicky Holland on a

:10:51. > :11:00.charge, with Non Stanford not far behind. Holland already taking all.

:11:01. > :11:08.About to get past Lucy Hall. Sarah True trying to open a gap. Duffy

:11:09. > :11:15.responding. I think Kasper has broken after the latest injection of

:11:16. > :11:21.pace from True. The performance by Sarah True, just when it was

:11:22. > :11:32.required. Flora Duffy working hard to stay with her. What a first lap

:11:33. > :11:51.from Vicky Holland. Some are Cook. -- Summer Cook. She needs to get the

:11:52. > :12:03.technicalities correct. Holland going

:12:04. > :12:16.past Spivey. What a race she had in Rio, going really well. Non Stanford

:12:17. > :12:21.following in her footsteps. They have gone past quite a few of the

:12:22. > :12:28.original lead pack. Sarah True looking very smooth, almost gliding

:12:29. > :12:34.along at the front. Sarah True, rarely taking this race at the

:12:35. > :12:41.front. The difference between True and Holland is 32 seconds. We will

:12:42. > :12:52.see how Vicky Holland deals with the second half of this run. After 15

:12:53. > :12:58.minutes, Sarah True potentially on her way to a third World Triathlon

:12:59. > :13:02.Series win of her career. Little glance over the shoulder to see what

:13:03. > :13:08.the opposition are up to. She will take the bells shortly. Sarah True

:13:09. > :13:16.leading the way, for the United States of America. Into transition,

:13:17. > :13:26.two down, one to go. We will get a. Checked on the standings.

:13:27. > :13:35.Summer Cook into third. Brilliant running. The next athlete regency is

:13:36. > :13:48.Vicky Holland. 15 seconds between first and fifth. 27 seconds. Holland

:13:49. > :13:55.closing all the time. Flora Duffy has not given in. We saw the big

:13:56. > :14:05.surge by Sarah True. Maybe a little shocked. Cook, from the back of the

:14:06. > :14:12.lead pack, coming through. Now closing in on Flora Duffy.

:14:13. > :14:18.Absolutely sensational performance. She will be thinking, what could

:14:19. > :14:22.I've done if I stayed with the pack? Their cheers, wearing the body suit,

:14:23. > :14:30.keeping her warm, paying dividends for Cook. Seems lost coming out of

:14:31. > :14:35.transition. Making a mess coming off her bike, putting on the running

:14:36. > :14:43.shoes. Something went wrong. She has fought back, brave performance from

:14:44. > :14:50.Cook, from the USA. She is in second place, behind her compatriot, Sarah

:14:51. > :14:56.True. We could have an American 1-2. If she was 30 seconds behind Sarah

:14:57. > :15:04.coming out of transition two. Are we going to see an absolute sensation?

:15:05. > :15:11.Overtaking her team-mate on the final run? We have been surprised by

:15:12. > :15:17.Cook on three four occasions. Looks like she is having a go at Sarah

:15:18. > :15:27.True's lead. Seven second lead that she has. About halfway through the

:15:28. > :15:34.final lap. Vicky Holland continues to make progress. She has work to

:15:35. > :15:41.do. At the moment Flora Duffy bumped off the podium places. Pushed down

:15:42. > :15:50.to fourth. You can see Holland right at the back of the shop, in sixth

:15:51. > :15:54.position. Focusing on fifth. Limited time to force their way up to a

:15:55. > :16:04.podium position. Not sure that is possible. We will see. Vicky Holland

:16:05. > :16:07.about to make the turn. Sarah True going back down the hill, going back

:16:08. > :16:15.towards the park, it on the end of this run. They will do a left turn,

:16:16. > :16:16.back into the park. The finish line down alongside the Lakeshore

:16:17. > :16:32.shortly. The time gap has lesson. Sarah just

:16:33. > :16:36.in front of, she has it going to stop all sorts of thoughts will be

:16:37. > :16:40.going through her head now. She's catching, she's chasing. She's

:16:41. > :16:45.getting it done, Summer Cook is closing the gap. Sarah True is

:16:46. > :16:49.showing signs of frailty now. Look at the support for Summer Cook.

:16:50. > :16:57.Summer Cook has got plenty more to offer. Cook alongside True. Cook

:16:58. > :17:02.goes past True and moves into first position. This is an astonishing

:17:03. > :17:10.performance from Summer Cook of the United States of America.

:17:11. > :17:17.And, can Sarah True respond? I'm not sure she's got enough left in the

:17:18. > :17:20.tank to deny Summer Cook what would be a quite outstanding victory, if

:17:21. > :17:26.she holds on for the win here in Edmonton. True moving to the left

:17:27. > :17:32.side of the road. She is not finished yet, Sarah True. And Summer

:17:33. > :17:38.Cook can see her just in her peripheral vision as she glanced

:17:39. > :17:44.around. She could see that Sarah True was not giving up on the chance

:17:45. > :17:48.of victory here. If Summer Cook can go on and win this race, with all

:17:49. > :17:52.the problems she had at the back of the bike pack in transition for the

:17:53. > :17:59.second time, think what she could do when things go well for her! The

:18:00. > :18:04.beauty of triathlon, maybe, maybe. The beauty of this athlete running

:18:05. > :18:08.right now is very special indeed. I think we thought Sarah True really

:18:09. > :18:14.had everything going for her. She made that magnificent surge midway

:18:15. > :18:18.through. We thought Summer Cook was out of it but we were wrong, because

:18:19. > :18:26.Summer Cook has put the race of her life together here. Summer Cook is

:18:27. > :18:32.digging deep now. Looking towards the end of this race. Summer Cook

:18:33. > :18:39.warmly welcomed by the Edmonton fans, who have watched her come in,

:18:40. > :18:45.and now she's quitting her teeth, forcing a smile, desperate to make

:18:46. > :18:48.the line Kim complete a stunning victory in Edmonton. Summer Cook

:18:49. > :18:54.wins in Edmonton, what a performance. Summer Cook first and

:18:55. > :18:58.Sarah True second. Third place to Katie Zaferes. A clean sweep for the

:18:59. > :19:04.United States of America, but certainly not the winner we were

:19:05. > :19:07.expecting. Summer Cook came from the clouds to win in Edmonton. Flora

:19:08. > :19:13.Duffy has just crossed the line to go forth. A brilliant final stage

:19:14. > :19:18.from Vicky Holland, the Olympic bronze medallist, coming home. She

:19:19. > :19:26.has made her way into the top five. But take a bow, Summer Cook. An

:19:27. > :19:30.electrifying performance! Non Stanford has just crossed the line

:19:31. > :19:37.in the top ten. We think in seven position, Non Stanford. That is one

:19:38. > :19:42.of the most surprising races I have ever seen. I'm trying to talk

:19:43. > :19:47.without using all the cliches. I don't think it's possible. I didn't

:19:48. > :19:52.expect it, you didn't expect it. We thought there is a great, talented

:19:53. > :19:56.athlete, making all the mistakes we thought she could make with issues

:19:57. > :20:01.like bike handling, poor transition, and yet she comes through and she

:20:02. > :20:09.had the run of her life to take the victory of her life.

:20:10. > :20:14.Confirmation of the final result of the Edmonton triathlon. Victory for

:20:15. > :20:20.Summer Cook. Three seconds ahead of Sarah True, with Katie Zaferes

:20:21. > :20:22.completing the American 1-2- three. Vicky Holland finished fifth with

:20:23. > :20:31.Non Stanford coming home in seventh position. Jessica Learmonth was

:20:32. > :20:35.24th. Neither Lucy Hall nor Jodie Stimpson could finish the race. I

:20:36. > :20:40.came in today wanting to finish in the top ten. I was working really

:20:41. > :20:47.hard on the bike to stay with the group. To be able to come off that

:20:48. > :20:50.and have a strong run was... It was surprising to me. For me a lot of

:20:51. > :20:54.today was just finding the mental willpower to keep myself in the race

:20:55. > :20:59.and put myself in the position to have a strong result.

:21:00. > :21:03.As an athlete you never want to start a race not knowing if you're

:21:04. > :21:06.actually going to be open to get through the race. Obviously I'm

:21:07. > :21:12.pleased I was able to get through, and more pleased that I could show a

:21:13. > :21:18.bit of fitness. I've had a pretty difficult year, so it's nice to have

:21:19. > :21:23.a result that I'm pretty proud of. Honestly, it's really cool to be

:21:24. > :21:27.able to share it with the next generation, Summer and my training

:21:28. > :21:32.partner Katie. It's pretty sweet, this is my third

:21:33. > :21:37.all-American podium I've been on in the last two years. I don't know,

:21:38. > :21:41.it's just neat. For Summer to be a part of it is really cool. It is

:21:42. > :21:51.amazing how the USA is growing, for women. I knew I had to come today

:21:52. > :21:55.extra prepared for the conditions. It was just like an American dream

:21:56. > :22:04.today, I thought I could hold on to second and on the last lap Summer

:22:05. > :22:08.and Katie flew past me. I wanted to improve my fourth-place finish in

:22:09. > :22:12.the series, but I was forth again. Jodie Stimpson has since stated on

:22:13. > :22:16.social media she had an Achilles problem going into the race, which

:22:17. > :22:22.caused her to pull out on the run. And it is now unlikely that she will

:22:23. > :22:27.compete in Cozumel. And so, whilst it's not

:22:28. > :22:31.mathematically certain, it does look increasingly likely that the 2016

:22:32. > :22:37.trophy will end up in the hands of Flora Duffy.

:22:38. > :22:42.That is eight races down in the World Triathlon Series, which means

:22:43. > :22:48.just one to go. We are breaking new ground, as for the first time ever,

:22:49. > :22:52.the series goes to Central America for the 2016 grand final on the
