:01:15. > :01:21.Mario Mola, genuine World Championship contender. The smile is

:01:22. > :01:32.born. Victory to Stanford of Great Britain. Alistair Brownlee wins in

:01:33. > :01:36.need. Remarkable race. The winner in Stockholm, the leader in the world

:01:37. > :02:00.triathlon series standings. Duffy is world triathlon series

:02:01. > :02:07.champion 2016. Mario Mola has won the world title. Spring is almost

:02:08. > :02:13.here which means a new triathlon season is upon us. Hello and welcome

:02:14. > :02:16.to the first event in the world triathlon series. The top triathlete

:02:17. > :02:23.sunning themselves in Abu Dhabi but I'm here in Salford quays with

:02:24. > :02:29.former world duathlon champion and also the brave souls who have joined

:02:30. > :02:33.us here. Great place to do triathlon, I have competed twice

:02:34. > :02:39.here. So much to look forward to this afternoon including all of

:02:40. > :02:46.this. It's is the first opportunity to sue the world's very best compete

:02:47. > :02:51.in 2017. Last year 's champion Jodie Stimpson is back for Britain and

:02:52. > :02:55.looking forward to competing on the Formula 1 Grand Prix course. He is

:02:56. > :02:59.back and hungry for more after the disappointment of missing out at the

:03:00. > :03:04.Olympics, Javier Gomez is in Abu Dhabi and on the hunt for a sixth

:03:05. > :03:08.world title. He faces stiff opposition from current world

:03:09. > :03:11.champion Mario Mola. And if the races alone are not enough we will

:03:12. > :03:14.also be hearing from Britain's double Olympic gold-medallist

:03:15. > :03:22.Alistair Brownlee on his plans for the year. As a lifelong athlete,

:03:23. > :03:27.just because I'm professional does not mean I do not want to do these

:03:28. > :03:31.other things. Before that let me talk you through the world triathlon

:03:32. > :03:36.series 2017 wall planner. We begin with Abu Dhabi this weekend, next

:03:37. > :03:42.sprint races in Gold Coast, test event for next year's Commonwealth

:03:43. > :03:47.Games. Then it is onto one of the regulars, Yokohama. Before the

:03:48. > :03:54.triathletes make a welcome return to these shores in Leeds, that will be

:03:55. > :04:01.on BBC Two on June 11. Then over to Germany for the annual triathlon

:04:02. > :04:09.Festival in hamburg. Followed by a flying visit to Canada for two World

:04:10. > :04:17.Series races, Edmonton and Montreal. The penultimate stop of the year is

:04:18. > :04:23.Stockholm. And we end in the Dutch city of Rotterdam for the grand

:04:24. > :04:28.final. Annie, so much to look forward to, what do you think might

:04:29. > :04:35.be a highlight. David Harris to be Leeds, very technical course, the

:04:36. > :04:38.crowds come out literally in their thousands. And most importantly the

:04:39. > :04:45.fans it will be the only time we see Alistair Brownlee this year. Also a

:04:46. > :04:49.couple of new locations. Two new events, Montreal and Rotterdam.

:04:50. > :04:54.Athletes talking about how technical those courses will be so they will

:04:55. > :04:58.be exciting to watch. Thanks, Annie. If last year 's grand final was

:04:59. > :05:01.anything to go by we will have a really exciting year. We all know

:05:02. > :05:05.what happened in the men's race, more on that from Alistair Brownlee

:05:06. > :05:09.later. In the women's race came down to a pulsating finish with the

:05:10. > :05:18.Olympic champion the underdog and in the Mexican heat the underdog won.

:05:19. > :05:30.It is the final race of the 2016 season, in the heat. The battle for

:05:31. > :05:42.the world title begins between Jorgensen and Duffy. Duffy in good

:05:43. > :05:50.shape. The front group clear of the chase group of Gwen Jorgensen and

:05:51. > :05:56.Sarah Troon. Duffy sets off in pursuit of the world title. Duffy is

:05:57. > :06:03.the world triathlon series champion for 2016. You always hope and wish

:06:04. > :06:07.and train for the perfect day and then the perfect day came exactly

:06:08. > :06:14.when I needed it. STUDIO: What a brilliant year, but she has not had

:06:15. > :06:23.a great start this year. She hasn't, what a year was her, three world

:06:24. > :06:26.titles. Then she went on to win the ITU cross, the triathlon where they

:06:27. > :06:30.take away the road bike and put in a mountain bike. She has come into

:06:31. > :06:36.this season with a hip injury and she is managing it at the moment.

:06:37. > :06:41.That is what the coaches are saying. She has the whole season to go so

:06:42. > :06:47.she has decided to sit this one out. It was a last-minute decision. Also

:06:48. > :06:54.a real change, but this is good news. Gwen Jorgensen and Helen

:06:55. > :06:59.Jenkinson are both pregnant, and also Nicolas Berwick, three of them

:07:00. > :07:04.are pregnant, so we will not be seen in racing this year. So that is

:07:05. > :07:09.quite a change. Definitely, the big change of course is Gwen, because a

:07:10. > :07:15.lot of people will be thinking it is our chance because when she is on

:07:16. > :07:21.the start line everybody is looking for second or third. Now there will

:07:22. > :07:29.be people looking for their chance to win. And among them British

:07:30. > :07:34.athletes who have a chance. The keyhole and has decided to move to

:07:35. > :07:44.Bath, she has completely changed her training setup. We will see how that

:07:45. > :07:47.will go, it'll be interesting -- Vicky Hollande. They have gone their

:07:48. > :07:56.only doing their own thing, perhaps that is what they needed after

:07:57. > :08:05.Olympics. Non Stanford spend a lot of time in Australia, train together

:08:06. > :08:10.with her partner. So they are not in Abu Dhabi this weekend. The leading

:08:11. > :08:13.Brit is Jodie Stimpson who has been in Nottingham to launch the British

:08:14. > :08:22.triathlon mixed relay cup on September two. While she was then

:08:23. > :08:25.she caught up with Mark. I had a good run in Abu Dhabi last year, I

:08:26. > :08:30.am at a different stage of preparation. We will see. I have had

:08:31. > :08:34.a successful winter, training has gone well. But a brand-new

:08:35. > :08:39.environment, new coach. I am excited to go and see where I am at. Talk us

:08:40. > :08:44.through that. You have a new coach, you have been training overseas with

:08:45. > :08:51.international group but now you are based in Loughborough. With my old

:08:52. > :09:00.coach Darren Smith it was kind of he was finishing his group after the

:09:01. > :09:04.Olympics. I knew that and I was ready for a change. There was things

:09:05. > :09:11.missing in my turning that the new I needed to get sorted. The best place

:09:12. > :09:18.for me was to get coached by Adam Andy Fenn from British triathlon.

:09:19. > :09:22.This is my first winter in the UK in quite a few years. I will take it, I

:09:23. > :09:32.have been quite lucky so far. There has been a few cold rides that I am

:09:33. > :09:36.not used to. -- Adam and Ben. It has been good with the new training

:09:37. > :09:42.group, they are keeping me on my toes. How do you rate the chances in

:09:43. > :09:47.Abu Dhabi and for this series? She stands a really good chance. Very

:09:48. > :09:50.difficult year last year but she is highly motivated to get back to

:09:51. > :09:56.where she was in 2015 and at the beginning of last year. She comes a

:09:57. > :10:00.very motivated. She has been very quiet, hasn't wanted to Dynavolt

:10:01. > :10:05.much information about what she's up to but her training setup has

:10:06. > :10:09.completely changed. It will be exciting to see her. We will see her

:10:10. > :10:23.do pretty well. The other Brit taking part is in the elite,

:10:24. > :10:26.European champion. She works down in Winchester, solid all-rounder, up

:10:27. > :10:38.and coming. Still some work to do on her run but hoping she will place

:10:39. > :10:44.well in Abu Dhabi. One thing you this series is a white stripe on the

:10:45. > :10:52.top eight's swimming hats, which should make them easier to spot.

:10:53. > :10:55.COMMENTATOR: We are enjoying the sights and sounds of Abu Dhabi,

:10:56. > :11:00.looking down at the Formula 1 circuit which will play host to the

:11:01. > :11:03.bike course today. Look at the architecture in these parts.

:11:04. > :11:15.Magnificent. This win will take place in and around the Yas Marina.

:11:16. > :11:22.Round one of the 2017 World Series. Two different labs. 900 metres lap,

:11:23. > :11:27.followed by 600 metres and then it is time to get onto the Formula 1

:11:28. > :11:31.track. This is unique, Lewis Hamilton has won here three times.

:11:32. > :11:39.He is the most successful Formula 1 race on this circuit. They will ride

:11:40. > :11:42.ten laps of around four km each. Not using the full track but key

:11:43. > :11:55.elements, before hanging up the bikes and heading out for a four

:11:56. > :12:02.laps run. Standard Olympic distance. Quite a truncated starts today. With

:12:03. > :12:15.Ai Ueda wearing number two, Florida the absent.

:12:16. > :12:24.The 2017 world triathlon series gets underway in Abu Dhabi. Warm, calm

:12:25. > :12:31.conditions. And they are racing. We can expect some good swimming pays

:12:32. > :12:36.from Jodie Stimpson. She is wearing number five. They have altered the

:12:37. > :12:42.caps this year, they wear green camps with really large numbers on.

:12:43. > :12:48.So they should in theory be a little bit more straightforward to

:12:49. > :12:51.identify. Much smaller field today than we are used to with just 30

:12:52. > :12:56.athletes on the start line which really does change this swim. Some

:12:57. > :13:00.of the weaker swimmers will get left behind because there will be fewer

:13:01. > :13:20.feet to jump onto and get the draft from. Summer cook, possibly she has

:13:21. > :13:25.the edge in the early stages. These three have opened up a slight gap on

:13:26. > :13:38.the rest of the field. They certainly have. Five days ago Summer

:13:39. > :13:41.Cook said she was scraping her right software,, on Twitter. How adapted

:13:42. > :13:46.she will be today's warm conditions in Abu Dhabi. We just have to see.

:13:47. > :13:55.Lots of potential, the young American. We have not seen either of

:13:56. > :14:03.the British contenders, Jodie Stimpson, defending champion, or

:14:04. > :14:08.India Lee, number 29. We will assume they aren't far off the pace here as

:14:09. > :14:19.they continue out to the next of the upright Orange

:14:20. > :14:27.bouys as they head back towards the protection of Yas Marina. This

:14:28. > :14:32.fourth athlete joining the bunch is kind of bringing up the main bunch

:14:33. > :14:44.towards the top three. Number 14, Summer Cook, continuing to increase

:14:45. > :14:53.the pace. Once they get out onto the bike ten laps of 4 km, Jorgensen on

:14:54. > :14:54.Twitter saying it is a really tough course. You need a strong pack to

:14:55. > :15:02.work with. Is a definite gap of around five

:15:03. > :15:08.metres from those four athletes in the main pack.

:15:09. > :15:14.Routier just edged past Summer Cook, determined to be the first one out

:15:15. > :15:16.of the water. A familiar pattern for Carolina Routier, she likes to be

:15:17. > :15:20.the quickest in the water. Summer Cook made the pace for most of this

:15:21. > :15:26.swing that it will be Routier leading them out. As they exit the

:15:27. > :15:30.water, after 900 metres, with a short seconds lap of 600 metres to

:15:31. > :15:32.go. We will check on the standings and catch up of exactly who is

:15:33. > :15:48.positioned where. Zaferes should be next out and

:15:49. > :16:01.that's right. Sarah True not far off the pace coming out of the water.

:16:02. > :16:08.The leaders dive back in to start the shortened second lap. Jodie

:16:09. > :16:14.Stimpson a bit off the pace right now, 24 seconds down. India Lee a

:16:15. > :16:17.further 12 seconds removed. 600-metre lap remaining.

:16:18. > :16:23.Time to concentrate for some of these athletes that have lost a bit

:16:24. > :16:28.of time. Stimpson Stillwell up there, under 30 seconds behind --

:16:29. > :16:32.still well up there. India Lee finds of the most stressful part of the

:16:33. > :16:41.triathlon. The Spaniard, the American and the Russian with a gap

:16:42. > :16:48.to one of the Americans, Katie Zaferes. Rather alone in fourth

:16:49. > :16:53.position, now. The first stage is almost done for Carolina Routier. No

:16:54. > :16:58.wind here to speak of. Nice, clean water behind. Summer Cook has

:16:59. > :17:03.smashed her. White on the toes of Carolina Routier. Really maximising

:17:04. > :17:08.the draft she's getting from her. -- she is right on. Looks like Zaferes

:17:09. > :17:12.has managed to close the gap slightly in the latter stages of the

:17:13. > :17:18.swim. A good final push from Katie Zaferes. Therefore, I think it's

:17:19. > :17:25.likely we will see a group of five form on lap one as they had from the

:17:26. > :17:29.Yas Marina to the Yas Formula 1 motor circuit. End of the swim. 90

:17:30. > :17:37.minutes and about five or six seconds. Routier's hands hit the

:17:38. > :17:38.deck and she lifts her goggles to the transition. Cook struggles as

:17:39. > :17:46.she finds her feet on terra firma. Slightly wobbly looking Katie

:17:47. > :17:53.Zaferes exits with the other American. Sarah True. Good final

:17:54. > :17:57.push from Sarah True. Five of them onto transition. Another stumble,

:17:58. > :18:03.that's time from one of the Italians. It is slippery coming out

:18:04. > :18:12.of the water. Alice Betto out in six. Americans everywhere.

:18:13. > :18:17.32 seconds off the pace, Yuko Takahashi. We will look for one of

:18:18. > :18:24.the first union Jacks. They've got to get this bit right.

:18:25. > :18:29.Everything has to be done according to the rules. Jodie Stimpson, the

:18:30. > :18:36.defending champion in Abu Dhabi, arrives. She clips up her bike

:18:37. > :18:39.helmet. She pushes her bike towards the Mount line with Andrea Hewitt

:18:40. > :18:48.not too far behind. They are on their way. Onto the Yas Formula 1

:18:49. > :18:53.motor circuit. Yas Marina circuit. India Lee has not yet arrived in

:18:54. > :18:58.transition to pick up her bike. India Lee, the second of the British

:18:59. > :19:02.triathletes involved, has a lot of work to do. These triathletes know

:19:03. > :19:08.they've got to work hard. Perhaps form a working pack, communicates.

:19:09. > :19:13.-- communicate. Get some tactics together to close this gap down to

:19:14. > :19:17.this leading group of five. That is what we expected. Five have formed

:19:18. > :19:24.on the Formula 1 circuit. Let's see how much damage they can do, now.

:19:25. > :19:26.Three Americans. Cook and Routier about to be joined by the next group

:19:27. > :19:39.of three. Five becomes eight. Katie Zaferes, the American, who is

:19:40. > :19:47.officially first across the line. Joined by Alice Betto, Backhouse and

:19:48. > :19:51.Cook. Sarah True and Carolina Routier and Anastasia Abrosimova in

:19:52. > :19:55.that group. Jodie Stimpson 21 seconds back. When she came out of

:19:56. > :19:59.the water, Stimpson was 40 seconds behind and has already halved that

:20:00. > :20:03.deficit. Good work on the first lap by Jodie Stimpson who crosses

:20:04. > :20:10.transition. 20 seconds or so off the pace. Jodie's got a big point to

:20:11. > :20:15.prove. Such disappointment, as everyone knows, not making the

:20:16. > :20:20.Olympic team. She has had many changes to her training setup. She's

:20:21. > :20:23.moved away from Darren Smith and the other squad. Based herself in

:20:24. > :20:31.Loughborough at the main performance centre. With Ben Bright. She said

:20:32. > :20:34.she made a lot of changes. This is interesting. It looks to me like

:20:35. > :20:37.some of the athletes have dropped from the front pack. Very

:20:38. > :20:42.surprising. Jodie Stimpson driving this second pack. It looks like the

:20:43. > :20:46.front pack have managed to spit out two or three athletes, which will

:20:47. > :20:49.only help this chase pack's cause. Carolina Routier, I think it is

:20:50. > :20:58.Abrosimova who has been dropped from that first pack. Routier we know has

:20:59. > :21:01.failed he is on the bike. Swim is exemplary -- has failures on. She

:21:02. > :21:08.has been unable to match this pace in the early stages of the 40 K

:21:09. > :21:16.ride. Routier is going backwards. That front group has been whittled

:21:17. > :21:20.down to just six triathletes. The lead group to the chasers, not much

:21:21. > :21:22.has changed. Although there is a sudden surge from the front of that

:21:23. > :21:27.elite group as they come to this hairpin. There was a real burst of

:21:28. > :21:34.acceleration from the front of that chase group. That group of six who

:21:35. > :21:38.leads this contest will shortly be reeled in by the group that does

:21:39. > :21:42.contain Jodie Stimpson. Who was the winner here, 12 months ago.

:21:43. > :21:51.Really great to see Jodie Stimpson back, injury free, racing hard. She

:21:52. > :21:54.started the 2016 year with such promise, winning the World Cup and

:21:55. > :21:57.then coming to Abu Dhabi and beating Helen Jenkins.

:21:58. > :22:05.She is just about on the wheel of the lead pack. Stimpson's leading

:22:06. > :22:11.the charge. She is controlling her move up through the field. I make

:22:12. > :22:16.that 14, now, in the front group. With Jodie Stimpson having done the

:22:17. > :22:22.hard work, 21 seconds at the end of lap one, 14 seconds at the end of

:22:23. > :22:26.lap two. Midway through lap three. Stimpson got it done. She joined the

:22:27. > :22:30.front pack and is now getting involved in the communication and

:22:31. > :22:35.control at the head of the field, here. Andrea Hewitt another one of

:22:36. > :22:40.the vastly experienced athletes, 34 years of age.

:22:41. > :22:48.She became a good swimmer at the age of four, 11, a surf life-saver and

:22:49. > :22:54.eventually took up triathlon in 2005. She has been up there, racing

:22:55. > :23:01.in the elite, for the last seven or eight years. Sadly for Andrea

:23:02. > :23:05.Hewitt, she was engaged to Laurent Vidal, who finished in the top five

:23:06. > :23:10.in the London Olympic triathlon in 2012. But he suffered a fatal heart

:23:11. > :23:16.attack a couple of years later. Hewitt continued to race on the

:23:17. > :23:20.circuit. Certainly not out of contention in 2017.

:23:21. > :23:28.Overhead graphic showing you that they are approaching its distance on

:23:29. > :23:35.this cycle leg. 25.2 kilometres still to ride. Stimpson is looking

:23:36. > :23:36.really relaxed and controlled. Currently in second position of this

:23:37. > :23:45.group of ten. They come over the flagstones again

:23:46. > :23:52.after 47 minutes since this race began with the 1500 metres swim. End

:23:53. > :23:56.of lap four. Katie Zaferes, Jodie Stimpson and Kirsten Kasper are the

:23:57. > :24:05.first three to cross the line. Backhouse, Stuart and climber.

:24:06. > :24:11.The front group of ten triathletes are complete. Six to go. It looks

:24:12. > :24:16.like India Lee's group is going to join up now with the three athletes

:24:17. > :24:22.that were in the front pack, only just about half a circuit ago.

:24:23. > :24:30.Summer, there she is, leading that trio through. She was with the

:24:31. > :24:32.leaders for a while. We have had a tweet from Helen Jenkins, former

:24:33. > :24:39.world champion, twice a world champion. She has noticed that she

:24:40. > :24:45.believes Stimpson's training has been well executed. Looks like the

:24:46. > :24:50.best ride on the course today, Jodie Stimpson. That's just calm in on

:24:51. > :24:56.social media, sitting this season out to start a family. -- best

:24:57. > :25:01.rider. What a great story. Lovely people, Helen Jenkins and Malcolm

:25:02. > :25:05.Jenkins. Helen had a tough race in beer but came back strong to finish

:25:06. > :25:09.in fourth in the final race -- race in Rio.

:25:10. > :25:19.She has taken some time out, had a baby after the London Olympics, got

:25:20. > :25:24.a medal in Rio and now pregnant with her second child. The end of lap

:25:25. > :25:30.seven, seven down, three to go. We have a full list of who is where.

:25:31. > :25:34.Backhouse officially first. Stimpson is still right in there.

:25:35. > :25:44.hiding out of trouble towards the back of the group -- Rachel climber.

:25:45. > :25:48.She is one of the stronger riders in that lead pack. She finished last

:25:49. > :25:58.season in 11th position at the end of the world triathlon series. 43rd

:25:59. > :26:05.world triathlon series start. One is down, two down! Chase group coming

:26:06. > :26:12.in towards the transition. Mechanical issues. Which may not get

:26:13. > :26:19.fixed for the French rider. She is trying to fix her own bike, pick up

:26:20. > :26:24.a water bottle. Emmie Charayron. Not good news. Let's have a look. Emmie

:26:25. > :26:31.Charayron lost their grip on her rear wheel and took out Yolanda

:26:33. > :26:44.ground. The cycle is almost done. 40

:26:45. > :26:49.kilometres on the motor circuit of the Yas Marina Formula 1 course.

:26:50. > :26:54.Just about behind them. An hour and 27 minutes since the triathlon began

:26:55. > :26:59.with a 1500 metres swim. They are about to conclude a stage two. Then

:27:00. > :27:07.it comes down to the ten K run on a new course. Four 2.5 kilometre

:27:08. > :27:10.circuit to conclude this world triathlon series today. At the

:27:11. > :27:21.dismount line, Stimpson hits it first. Backhouse and Vilic also

:27:22. > :27:23.right up there. Now they hit the carpet, off the cobbles and onto the

:27:24. > :27:30.more comfortable cockpit. Looking out for their parking stations here

:27:31. > :27:31.in transition. Jodie Stimpson, the defending champion, arrives and goes

:27:32. > :27:39.to work. Her right shoe has gone on, her left

:27:40. > :27:45.shoe. Andrea Hewitt in and out of transition quickly as well. Zaferes

:27:46. > :27:48.struggled slightly with the demands of transition. She wasn't as quick

:27:49. > :27:53.in and out as some of the others. Alice Betto was the last two rise of

:27:54. > :28:00.that elite group and she's going to have to try and track them down as

:28:01. > :28:05.quickly as she can. The next group led in by Rebecca Spence. They are

:28:06. > :28:13.now only 45 seconds off the pace. India Lee is within this group. The

:28:14. > :28:20.second of the British triathletes is 47 seconds off the pace of the lead.

:28:21. > :28:22.This group, crucially, contains Ayew wader one of the better runners. The

:28:23. > :28:32.transition is complete. They strike out to begin lap one of

:28:33. > :28:37.four. There is Ueda straight into her stride and off in search of the

:28:38. > :28:40.leaders. She always looks incredibly relaxed, she was has this smile, I

:28:41. > :28:44.don't know, but she enjoys her running so much that she seems like

:28:45. > :28:47.she is really enjoying it with a smile on her face. Charlotte McShane

:28:48. > :28:51.one of the last one is going out from the lead pack. Zaferes, for

:28:52. > :29:00.some reason, always manages to slightly fluffier transition. Ueda's

:29:01. > :29:06.making a quest to claw her way up through the field. Ueda third in the

:29:07. > :29:11.World Series last year. This ragged running style of hers. Explosive at

:29:12. > :29:14.the same time. Very effective, I love to watch her run. It's so

:29:15. > :29:19.relaxed. Funny little action with her hands. But it's very, very

:29:20. > :29:23.effective. She already looks to me like she's catching one of the back

:29:24. > :29:27.runners isn't she? That's Alice Betto from Italy. She's already on

:29:28. > :29:34.the heels of Alice Betto. Alice Betto going around 45 seconds ahead

:29:35. > :29:36.of Ueda. We haven't even done 2.5 kilometres yet. As they complete lap

:29:37. > :29:46.one. So far, the top four out in action

:29:47. > :29:52.for an hour and 36 minutes. Add 37 seconds. Lap one is complete. Three

:29:53. > :29:56.laps to go. On this 10,000 metre run. Stimpson, of Great Britain,

:29:57. > :29:59.Rachel Klamer of the Netherlands, the New Zealand runner and Vilic of

:30:00. > :30:11.Austria. Abrosimova she put 20 seconds into

:30:12. > :30:17.them, on the first lap, she could be well ahead. She looks completely

:30:18. > :30:32.different to the others, she looks like she is in a 5 km track race.

:30:33. > :30:42.They out into the daylight, the chase group six seconds removed.

:30:43. > :30:46.Stimson seems to inject extra pace into the race as they Clyne. Ai Ueda

:30:47. > :30:53.continues her march through the field. She is 26 seconds off the

:30:54. > :31:01.pace now. And we are not quite halfway through the 10,000 metre

:31:02. > :31:12.run. The still an awful lot to ask of ayurveda. -- Ai Ueda. The early

:31:13. > :31:21.question is whether she went too fast too early. In these warm

:31:22. > :31:29.conditions. The pace has been pretty relentless so far. Rachel Klamer is

:31:30. > :31:33.the one who seems to be feeling it. Joe Day sign of having to work

:31:34. > :31:43.harder than she was before. Hand on her midriff, -- she just showed

:31:44. > :31:51.signs of having to work harder than before. Who Stimson dictating the

:31:52. > :32:03.pace as she has done since they left the water. This angle deceptive. Ai

:32:04. > :32:11.Ueda clawing back these athletes, catching up Blackhouse, 5 km now

:32:12. > :32:21.struggling. That stitch taking its toll. Four has become three. Rachel,

:32:22. > :32:36.has been dropped, in pain. As they complete lap two. Halfway through

:32:37. > :32:52.the run. Hewitt, Stimson and Vilic the leading trio. -- Stimpson. 5 km

:32:53. > :32:56.down, 5 km left. Rachel Kalama crosses a further four seconds back.

:32:57. > :33:08.It is deceptive because by the looks of things I think Ai Ueda, she has

:33:09. > :33:13.Ashley dropped time. Vilic from Austria, the young athlete, former

:33:14. > :33:25.world under 23 champion having the race of her life. The Austrians with

:33:26. > :33:37.a good history in this sport. They had the Olympic triathlon champion

:33:38. > :33:43.in Athens in 2004. She seems to pull away a little bit, slightly longer

:33:44. > :33:43.lakes downhill. That is a skill, Jodie Stimpson just getting the

:33:44. > :34:03.better of them down the hill. No one has decided to take on this

:34:04. > :34:07.race and kick for the lead. Will that happen in the early stages of

:34:08. > :34:11.the final lap? The final lap is about to unfold as they take the

:34:12. > :34:16.turn. They find their way onto the carpet. Glance around for Jodie

:34:17. > :34:23.Stimpson. Sizing up the opposition. Sorting out in her mind her timing,

:34:24. > :34:27.if and when she will strike for the outright lead. She is in good

:34:28. > :34:49.company. They will be taking the podium

:34:50. > :34:53.praises but in what order. Three of them literally separated by a metre

:34:54. > :34:59.as Hewitt draws alongside Jodie Stimpson. Lets the registrar athlete

:35:00. > :35:07.knows she is there and she is in the hunt. It was a little while before

:35:08. > :35:13.Stimpson noticed she had company. Vilic has not gone away. Right on

:35:14. > :35:22.the shoulder. The pace raising again. Less than 400 metres to run

:35:23. > :35:27.and we could have a race for the line between three. Often we have

:35:28. > :35:32.two going for gold but a race between three potentially for top

:35:33. > :35:39.honours in Abu Dhabi as Stimpson and Hewitt are shoulder to shoulder now.

:35:40. > :35:43.I cannot call it, I thought Stimpson was going to go earlier but it looks

:35:44. > :35:50.to me like they will wait until the very last moment. At the moment

:35:51. > :35:56.Jodie Stimpson and Andrea Hewitt, Vilic just behind. Hewitt just

:35:57. > :36:04.edging ahead and then Stimpson reels her back in. Vilic hasn't moved. She

:36:05. > :36:13.is keeping pace with the leading two. Step for step, Vilic just in

:36:14. > :36:22.there still. 3-way Sprint finish could be about to unfold. The

:36:23. > :36:29.winning time a year ago 1:50 six. The new course has added more than

:36:30. > :36:37.seven minutes to the winning time. Two hours: three minutes since this

:36:38. > :36:44.race began. It is going to be a 3-way Sprint. Stimpson not Great

:36:45. > :36:57.Britain injects a better place. You are not beating you. You read not

:36:58. > :37:07.giving up on this. Stimpson may just have injected the final race winning

:37:08. > :37:10.effort not sure that Hewitt can get back on terms with Stimpson. She is

:37:11. > :37:15.looking to win this race two years in a row but you are throwing

:37:16. > :37:22.everything out her! Hewitt back in front and she is going to win for

:37:23. > :37:32.New Zealand. What a fightback from Andrea Hewitt. Quite remarkable

:37:33. > :37:39.comeback. It is a podium for Sara Vilic of Austria. Extraordinary end

:37:40. > :37:45.to a wonderful race in Abu Dhabi. Rachel Klamer will come home in

:37:46. > :37:52.fourth. The stitch and she picked up on lap two but paid to her chances

:37:53. > :37:57.of getting on the podium. Fourth place for Rachel Klamer. What the

:37:58. > :38:01.conclusion to this world triathlon series race in Abu Dhabi. Quite

:38:02. > :38:15.remarkable fightback for Andrea Hewitt. Ai Ueda was so far off the

:38:16. > :38:28.pace after the bike,. Gillian Blackhouse crosses the line. Well.

:38:29. > :38:32.These triathlons keep giving us these extraordinary finishes. Drama

:38:33. > :38:39.and incident every time the world triathlon series race comes

:38:40. > :38:43.together. Andrea Hewitt wins the first race of the new season, in Abu

:38:44. > :38:55.Dhabi. In a sprint finish with Jodie Stimpson, Tara village finishing

:38:56. > :39:04.third for Austria. -- Sara Vilic. It was an amazing race for me, amazing

:39:05. > :39:12.to come here to Abu Dhabi. This year my win is dedicated to lure, I won

:39:13. > :39:22.in Antigua two weeks ago and I knew I was coming here really fit. He

:39:23. > :39:26.told me I was at everything, I have the dedication, the integrity, I had

:39:27. > :39:33.talent. He told me one thing I was missing, that was emotion. I did not

:39:34. > :39:41.show it enough. I know since one year I have always had, I have to

:39:42. > :39:49.say thank you to Maddie Dylan, she has been beside me and my friends

:39:50. > :39:55.and famine I want to thank them. I am stoked we both got on the podium,

:39:56. > :39:58.the amount of work we did. If I was going to lose in a spring finish I'm

:39:59. > :40:10.glad it was Andrea. You did some fabulous work on the bike. You cut

:40:11. > :40:13.the gap. My coach told me not to try to work too hard on the first lap if

:40:14. > :40:20.I was behind often swing, Adam, there you go. Such a nice feeling, I

:40:21. > :40:27.think I will realise tomorrow but it is incredible. I was training so

:40:28. > :40:38.hard, so happy it paid off. On the bike it was good. I like to stay on

:40:39. > :40:46.the good causes. I felt good. I could keep on it and I was just

:40:47. > :40:56.delighted. STUDIO: What an incredible race. I do not think

:40:57. > :41:03.anybody could have called it. When it came down to the run, I feel

:41:04. > :41:07.really bad but she will hang on, then there she was at the end with

:41:08. > :41:15.50 metres left, the nominal rates. After that performance I think we

:41:16. > :41:21.will see more of her. She was dogged. What an extraordinary and

:41:22. > :41:25.exciting finish. It was amazing. It had been a pretty steady ride until

:41:26. > :41:33.that point. They had done a huge amount of the work. When it came

:41:34. > :41:38.down to the sprint finish. We saw Jodie had it. I was totally

:41:39. > :41:43.convinced. By that stage she was five steps in front of Hewitt but

:41:44. > :41:51.she summed it up, she said her boyfriend, Laurent Vidal, who sadly

:41:52. > :41:57.passed away a couple of years ago, said she lacked emotion. So

:41:58. > :42:03.emotional at the end. Big smiles as well, for an athlete who was so

:42:04. > :42:08.consistent and strong, she had not been on the top of the podium since

:42:09. > :42:17.2011. It was a breakthrough race. To lose on the line is tough but also

:42:18. > :42:20.in some ways a great result. She will be kicking his, initially she

:42:21. > :42:29.thought she had done it, putting together the disappointment of last

:42:30. > :42:35.year. I think she will be kicking yourself. I do not think Andrea

:42:36. > :42:39.realised she had watcher had left on her legs. So the season is underway,

:42:40. > :43:16.just 98 days until the World Series circus heats British shores.

:43:17. > :43:22.Putt no doubt who was the star of the show last year in Leeds,

:43:23. > :43:26.Alistair Brownlee. It is likely he will be again this year, his only as

:43:27. > :43:32.yet confirmed appearance in the world triathlon series. After such

:43:33. > :43:41.an amazing 2016, where do you go next? Tom Fordyce has been speaking

:43:42. > :43:43.to Alistair Brownlee. It will be a glorious golden 44 Alistair

:43:44. > :43:48.Brownlee. The Olympic triathlon champion for the second time. --

:43:49. > :43:55.golden double, four Alistair Brownlee. It is obviously nice to

:43:56. > :43:58.move on from 2016, the Olympics obsolete the big thing. To go

:43:59. > :44:04.through that three times now, it is nice to draw a line under that again

:44:05. > :44:07.and move on. Dramatic scenes in Cozumel as the Olympic champion

:44:08. > :44:12.carries his younger brother towards the podium. The Brownlee brothers

:44:13. > :44:19.arm in arm. Alistair having to drag him across the line and pushing him

:44:20. > :44:24.home. Nice to move on from Cozumel, but I'm not going to let Johnny

:44:25. > :44:30.forget it, obviously. I have a few goals, looking for the longer stuff,

:44:31. > :44:34.and the Roger Richards in September. That is an obvious goal to try and

:44:35. > :44:45.achieve. I still want to my foot in the will Series as well. Fudging it,

:44:46. > :44:47.basically? Mixture without committing. Leeds is the obvious

:44:48. > :45:00.World Series I want to perform at. The people who don't know what half

:45:01. > :45:05.five man is it's not dramatically further is it? An extra 200 metres

:45:06. > :45:09.on the swim, 60 miles on the bike. It's about double, really. Although

:45:10. > :45:13.the swim isn't quite a double. But it's a different kind of race.

:45:14. > :45:18.Instead of fast and furious Olympic distance racing, it's about an hour

:45:19. > :45:22.45. Over the best part of four hours. It's a bit slower. A bit more

:45:23. > :45:27.of a controlled effort, something a bit different. Although it's a bit

:45:28. > :45:31.different to the Olympic aspect of the sport for someone who has always

:45:32. > :45:34.done triathlon, looking at long-distance and especially the

:45:35. > :45:37.iron man, that has got to be one of those things you always want to do.

:45:38. > :45:42.It's like the London or Boston Marathon, the triathlon. It's a

:45:43. > :45:48.lifelong -- I'm a lifelong fan of the sport and it will always be my

:45:49. > :45:51.bucket list. Why did you want to make the change? You've won two

:45:52. > :45:55.Olympic golds and you are clearly the best in the world, why not stick

:45:56. > :46:00.with it? Because I have a professional athlete, it doesn't

:46:01. > :46:07.mean I don't what do these other things. I want to do it. Without

:46:08. > :46:11.necessarily hurting my chances. I feel I am capable of doing it in

:46:12. > :46:17.four years in Tokyo. Would you have been bought if you stuck with

:46:18. > :46:23.standard distance? Possibly. The World Series is fantastic. The race

:46:24. > :46:29.in great places around the world. Basically a against the same people

:46:30. > :46:34.for the last ten years. It's just important to have a slightly

:46:35. > :46:37.different not necessarily outlook the different goals, different way

:46:38. > :46:42.of training and mix it up. If it goes really well, is there a chance

:46:43. > :46:46.we will never see you at an Olympic Games again? I guess there's a

:46:47. > :46:49.chance that I could never be at an Olympic games again. To say I would

:46:50. > :46:55.never do it is impossible. The Olympic Games is fantastic. I would

:46:56. > :46:59.definitely love to be there. The course in Tokyo is going to play a

:47:00. > :47:04.big part in whether I feel I can go there and win, I guess. Whether the

:47:05. > :47:08.relay is in it. There's potentially two medals on the line. That could

:47:09. > :47:12.potentially play a part. It is going to be a case of sitting down

:47:13. > :47:16.probably at the end of 2018 and weighing it up. Am I enjoying longer

:47:17. > :47:20.distance stuff? Do I feel I can be competitive to win a medal in Tokyo?

:47:21. > :47:24.How I achieved what I want to achieve in long distance. I am happy

:47:25. > :47:30.with that. It is what motivates me. The short distance stuff, I will

:47:31. > :47:34.have to see I want to do. The return of World Series this weekend, who

:47:35. > :47:39.are favourites? As far as the men are concerned, we've got Javier

:47:40. > :47:43.Gomez, returning from a major injury last year. Although I've got no

:47:44. > :47:47.doubt he will be in great shape. A bit of an unknown, he's not getting

:47:48. > :47:55.any younger. That throws it wide open in terms of people with obvious

:47:56. > :48:00.Mario Mola winningest last year. Jonny should be competitive with a

:48:01. > :48:05.bit of luck. And a fair wind. But I can't see past those three being on

:48:06. > :48:09.the podium. With a potential of Murray thrown in there. Going back

:48:10. > :48:14.to Gomez, who's been such a rival for you down the years, did it take

:48:15. > :48:18.anything at all off your gold in Rio that he wasn't there? It's

:48:19. > :48:22.definitely did take a bit. You want to be there on the best day in your

:48:23. > :48:25.best shape and being able to race the best athletes in their shape. We

:48:26. > :48:29.were fortunate to have that in London. It would have been fantastic

:48:30. > :48:35.to have that in Rio. But what happened, happened. Reece Burke

:48:36. > :48:39.about it. He had a lot of luck. -- we spoke about it. In the World

:48:40. > :48:42.Series he had luck. And then I did not necessarily have it. And then I

:48:43. > :48:46.had luck in the Olympics. On that day, on that course, I'm fairly

:48:47. > :48:51.confident I would have had him anyway. LAUGHTER

:48:52. > :48:54.STUDIO: Great to hear from the double Olympic champion. Do you

:48:55. > :48:59.understand from his point of view at this stage he wants to move up?

:49:00. > :49:04.Absolutely. Alistair needs a new challenge. 'S time Olympic champion

:49:05. > :49:08.looking for new goals and challenges. -- two time. A natural

:49:09. > :49:13.progression for him. As an athlete, does it help and add interest by

:49:14. > :49:17.mixing things up a bit? Definitely. His training will change. The amount

:49:18. > :49:20.of training he does right now, I don't know his whole training

:49:21. > :49:25.routine, but I'm sure he's more than capable of doing ironman now. His

:49:26. > :49:28.training will change. He will have to run a really hard and fast

:49:29. > :49:33.marathon off the back of 180 kilometres. The training will have

:49:34. > :49:35.to change a bit but Alistair has stated he is really up for the

:49:36. > :49:39.challenge editor something he would like to try. We will miss him a bit

:49:40. > :49:43.in the World Series. -- challenge and a bit of something. We will.

:49:44. > :49:47.Some guys won't miss him but a lot of guys will miss him in the bike

:49:48. > :49:51.pack because he gets everyone rallying working really hard and he

:49:52. > :49:54.makes some races exciting. He will be sorely missed this year. We can

:49:55. > :50:00.always see him chatting away. What about Gomez? He is back, great news.

:50:01. > :50:03.Fantastic news. A lot of triathlon fans thought we might not see him

:50:04. > :50:09.again after the disappointment of 2016. He's kind of heading towards

:50:10. > :50:13.his mid-30s. But actually he's bounced right back and he's as

:50:14. > :50:18.hungry as ever to go out and race. Alistair talked about Gomez, Mary

:50:19. > :50:23.only and Jonathan Brownlee being in contention. Jonathan has an injury

:50:24. > :50:27.-- Mario Mola and. He has picked up a tendon injury, not a running

:50:28. > :50:30.injury. It is to do with the bike position. They are confident they

:50:31. > :50:36.will not get on the head pretty quickly. It was sensible for him to

:50:37. > :50:39.decide to put off his racing until a bit later on in the season. We can

:50:40. > :50:45.always have surprises but would you put those as the top three? Yes.

:50:46. > :50:50.Gomez, definitely. As long as he stays injury free he will be a huge

:50:51. > :50:53.contender. Mario Mola without a doubt, a great racer. Disappointing

:50:54. > :50:59.for him in Rio but he bounced back in Cozumel and took the world title.

:51:00. > :51:03.We will see Mario Mola at Jonny once he is in good shape and over this

:51:04. > :51:08.injury I expect we will see him back to his winning ways. As Annie said,

:51:09. > :51:12.no Jonny in Abu Dhabi but still a stellar line-up in the men's race.

:51:13. > :51:16.We saw the new swimming hats make their debut in the women's race and

:51:17. > :51:20.Annie has given us a guide as to who is wearing what in the men's race.

:51:21. > :51:26.Beginning his defence of his world title and wearing number one,

:51:27. > :51:32.Spain's Mario Mola. He hails from Majorca along with Rafa Nadal and is

:51:33. > :51:35.engaged to fellow triathlete Carolina Routier. Henri Schoeman had

:51:36. > :51:38.a standout 2016 winning the grand final race in Cozumel and a bronze

:51:39. > :51:45.medal in Rio. Henri Schoeman finishes in the first

:51:46. > :51:50.win in South Africa's first ever triathlon medal. With no

:51:51. > :51:52.confirmation of what his dad and coach makes of his hair, which he

:51:53. > :51:59.has dyed blonde for the 2017. Richard Murray and is himself a bad

:52:00. > :52:02.boy reputation after being disqualified in Hamburg last year.

:52:03. > :52:08.He started this season off on the right foot, though, winning the

:52:09. > :52:15.first World Cup last month in Cape Town. At about finished 2016 as the

:52:16. > :52:19.second-highest ranked triathlete behind Adam Brownlee. He has moved

:52:20. > :52:23.to Wales in the off-season and he is pretty in pink in Abu Dhabi,

:52:24. > :52:27.sporting number seven. This is the Spanish triathlon legend's first

:52:28. > :52:32.World Series race since he broke his elbow last year. 2060 may have ended

:52:33. > :52:35.up in disappointment for Gomez but there was still some consolation as

:52:36. > :52:42.he was awarded the highest honour in Spanish sport -- 2016. The Princess

:52:43. > :52:48.of Asturias award. STUDIO: We talked about Gomez, let's talk about Mario

:52:49. > :52:52.Mola. World champion last year. They have a good rivalry? Mario Mola has

:52:53. > :52:56.a great deal of respect for Gomez. He still sees him as the guy to

:52:57. > :52:59.beat, most definitely, even though he won the World Championship last

:53:00. > :53:03.year because Gomez was out injured. Will he be happy to have him back in

:53:04. > :53:07.racing this year? The real athletes are really happy to have the

:53:08. > :53:11.strongest guys there they feel. That when they compete and they win, they

:53:12. > :53:14.really deserve it and they beat the best in the world -- they feel that

:53:15. > :53:21.day. On the whole, they will be happy that Gomez is back. Mario Mola

:53:22. > :53:24.will be happy to have him on the start line. Brits involved, who are

:53:25. > :53:30.you looking out for? Three younger guys. Adam Bowden of course. Tom

:53:31. > :53:35.Bishop, only around for three years, but 25, strong on the swim at the

:53:36. > :53:38.bike but yet to bring his run up to standard. -- and the bike. Let's see

:53:39. > :53:44.what his training has been doing over the winter. Grant Sheldon.

:53:45. > :53:48.Strong athletes but relatively new to the sport. Interesting what they

:53:49. > :53:52.can do without the Brownlee brothers there. The guys coming into this are

:53:53. > :53:58.saying that we won't try and perhaps live at Ball replace them. It is

:53:59. > :54:01.their turn to go out and prove themselves. Looking forward to the

:54:02. > :54:04.race, you are heading back to the commentary box and I will hand you

:54:05. > :54:08.over to Max Chilton for the men's race.

:54:09. > :54:19.He is the start list. Mario Mola has won as the world champion.

:54:20. > :54:26.The first of the British quartet is Adam Boutin at number seven.

:54:27. > :54:35.Raphael likely to feature strongly in the swim. Bishop starts at 22,

:54:36. > :54:41.for Great Britain. Grant Sheldon has 27. The last of the British quartet

:54:42. > :54:48.on the start list will be Mark Austin. Austin, today, the

:54:49. > :54:54.23-year-old, has number 51. -- Mark Austin.

:54:55. > :55:01.About to get underway in Abu Dhabi. Breezy conditions for the start.

:55:02. > :55:06.Spectacular dive start. They will exit the water at the end of the

:55:07. > :55:10.long lap which will take them out of the marina. Before they turn and

:55:11. > :55:17.head back in, exiting the water. Running along the pontoon, diving

:55:18. > :55:22.back in and swimming the second, shorter lap 500 metres. 900-metre

:55:23. > :55:26.lap to start with. 500-metre lap to conclude. Annie, I guess we will see

:55:27. > :55:30.the usual suspects out in front in the water. It will be interesting.

:55:31. > :55:37.Schoeman, we would normally see him upfront. Richard Murray, his

:55:38. > :55:41.team-mate is racing as well. He obviously beat him to the last medal

:55:42. > :55:44.position in the Olympics, taking a bronze medal. Richard Murray

:55:45. > :55:47.finishing in fourth. At Richard Murray got the better of him at the

:55:48. > :55:51.World Cup race in Cape Town a couple of weeks ago. I sense Schoeman will

:55:52. > :55:55.want to put the pressure on really early in the water. Murray is not

:55:56. > :56:00.known so much for his swimming, more his biking and running skills. I

:56:01. > :56:02.expect to see Schoeman, Gomez and Raphael from France will be heading

:56:03. > :56:11.the way. These green swim caps have made it a

:56:12. > :56:19.bit more straightforward for us to pinpoint the athletes. I think that

:56:20. > :56:23.might be Raphael already. It is. It is the Frenchman, the number ten. He

:56:24. > :56:28.is readily one of the fastest men in the water. Starting on that

:56:29. > :56:32.swimmer's right side of the Yas marina. A bit of shelter from the

:56:33. > :56:37.sea wall. He is leading them through. I think he's got one of the

:56:38. > :56:43.Russians, Igor Polyanskiy, just behind him in second position.

:56:44. > :56:48.Raphael Reading the early stages of the swim with some curious

:56:49. > :56:55.spectators looking down from the dock. Is interesting how they've all

:56:56. > :56:58.come together. For people that are new to triathlon, look at the

:56:59. > :57:02.pontoon, 70 metres long and there are 50 athletes spread out. You

:57:03. > :57:07.think how will they head out into the same direction but they all do.

:57:08. > :57:12.Gomez started very wide, left on the pontoon. Raphael from France on the

:57:13. > :57:18.right. Just about coming together. Raphael really hugging the wall.

:57:19. > :57:24.Raphael, of France, Leeds Polyanski of Russia. You can see the

:57:25. > :57:27.collection of boats and kayaks. Now things will get a bit more

:57:28. > :57:32.interesting because they will loose the shelter of the safety of the

:57:33. > :57:36.marina. It is quite a breezy day, there is a bit of chopped on the

:57:37. > :57:40.surface of the water. They will have to keep an eye on things and make

:57:41. > :57:44.sure they don't drift off in one direction or another as the breeze

:57:45. > :57:50.hit them just about here where the protection of the seawall

:57:51. > :57:53.disappears. Out into open water. Just to remind you, today is a full

:57:54. > :58:01.Olympic distance triathlon. 1500 metres swim. Followed by a 40 kbytes

:58:02. > :58:06.on the motorcycle, Formula 1 motor circuit. And then a 10,000 metre run

:58:07. > :58:09.to conclude -- kilometres on. Various sprint races taking place

:58:10. > :58:16.this season but we kick off, rightly so, with a full Olympic distance.

:58:17. > :58:22.Here we go. It will be Aurelien Raphael to get out of the water

:58:23. > :58:24.first. Raphael of France will get a check on exactly who is aware and

:58:25. > :58:33.follow the British triathletes. Polyanski followed by his brother.

:58:34. > :58:39.Ben Kanute, the first of the Americans.

:58:40. > :58:42.Tom Bishop just behind Vincent Luis. Marc Austin just behind Javier Gomez

:58:43. > :58:51.. We will keep an eye on the remaining

:58:52. > :58:54.British triathletes. I think that should be Grant Sheldon coming up

:58:55. > :59:01.but we haven't stayed long enough on that graphic. With the shorter lab

:59:02. > :59:06.to follow, some are already well on their way to the second lap --

:59:07. > :59:12.shorter lap. Others yet to leave the water. Mario Mola coming out of the

:59:13. > :59:16.water. Big gaps. Along with Fernando Alarza. Mario Mola diving in.

:59:17. > :59:20.They've got some work to do, that's for sure. The swim is really spread

:59:21. > :59:24.out, normally you get a bit of a train. Some athletes 20, 30 seconds

:59:25. > :59:28.back, they can hang onto these athletes diving in the water right

:59:29. > :59:30.now, they are about a minute down. Mario Mola is further back than he

:59:31. > :59:41.might have expected. The field is well and truly spread,

:59:42. > :59:46.now. The first stage of today's full Olympic distance triathlon, round

:59:47. > :59:51.one of the 2070 world triathlon series reaches its conclusion --

:59:52. > :59:55.2017. As usual, it's been the Frenchman, Aurelien Raphael, the

:59:56. > :00:02.28-year-old who has led them pretty much from pillar to post.

:00:03. > :00:15.The Russian Polyanskiy brothers. Igor the younger of the two at 27,

:00:16. > :00:25.Dmitry 30. Raphael leads them towards the exit. You can see the

:00:26. > :00:32.blue pontoon ramp that takes them up onto the carpet, in and around the

:00:33. > :00:37.outbuildings into transition where the bikes are waiting. Aurelien

:00:38. > :00:47.Raphael back on his feet and heading towards his bike. Dmitri Polyanskiy

:00:48. > :00:54.after Ben Kanute. Marc Austin the first of the British triathletes.

:00:55. > :01:03.Vincent Luis in good shape, making his comeback. Tom Bishop back up

:01:04. > :01:12.through the field. We are likely to see a sizeable pack for me at the

:01:13. > :01:22.front of the field. Could be huge with the numbers arriving towards

:01:23. > :01:31.transition now. The bikes await, lined up. They have to get

:01:32. > :01:37.everything right, no wet suit of course so the process quicker but

:01:38. > :01:42.the helmets have to be clipped on and the shoes attached to the

:01:43. > :01:50.pedals. This bike involves ten laps around the Formula 1 circuit. And it

:01:51. > :01:55.begins with a run down through the pets in front of the Viceroy hotel.

:01:56. > :02:03.They go down and pick up their bikes. Long stream of riders

:02:04. > :02:11.eventually will come together and form a working group. One or two of

:02:12. > :02:23.them have been left off the back. 25 athletes by the looks of things,.

:02:24. > :02:33.Alarza will struggle to get onto the front pack. 25 of them about 400

:02:34. > :02:37.metres down the road now. Vincent Luis the Frenchman letting the

:02:38. > :02:40.others come through. He has taken up the role of commander-in-chief. The

:02:41. > :02:47.job normally given to Alistair Brownlee. Shouting instructions.

:02:48. > :02:51.Drifting from front to the middle of the pack and then towards the back,

:02:52. > :02:54.letting everybody know what is required and then making sure nobody

:02:55. > :03:00.is slacking. Somebody has to do it otherwise they will just roll round

:03:01. > :03:06.playing cat and mouse. And give the chase pack every chance to get back.

:03:07. > :03:11.At the moment they are not in sight. Roundabout 16, 17 athletes in this

:03:12. > :03:14.front pack. I think it is difficult on these wider roads to get

:03:15. > :03:31.momentum. Now that little chase pack, five of them in there. Around

:03:32. > :03:34.20 seconds down. The second lap of 4 km underway. That is the Mario Mola

:03:35. > :03:41.group. Two of the strongest runners in this pack. Mario Mola and Richard

:03:42. > :03:46.Murray. One at the front and one about. They are endeavouring now to

:03:47. > :03:53.close down the leaders. The White dot represents the leaders. The blue

:03:54. > :03:59.dot 54 seconds behind. As they enter the second lap, slowing down to 55

:04:00. > :04:04.seconds as they come through the hairpin. We expect the chasers to

:04:05. > :04:07.maybe take the few seconds out of the leaders on the second lap but it

:04:08. > :04:13.depends on what Javier Gomez has in his mind in terms of tactics. If

:04:14. > :04:18.Gomez is off the front he would normally have something to say about

:04:19. > :04:22.the pace. Which is currently being dictated by the great man himself,

:04:23. > :04:27.Javier Gomez leads the world triathlon series race in Abu Dhabi.

:04:28. > :04:37.Fantastic to see him back. He is at the front of the field right now.

:04:38. > :04:39.The fact this front pack is so segmented as testament to some of

:04:40. > :04:43.the guys who have been riding on the front because the fact Pierre Le

:04:44. > :04:57.Corre from France and Aurelien Raphael 20 seconds down just goes to

:04:58. > :05:00.show you the pace. Ben Kanute made a half-hearted effort. 'S the third of

:05:01. > :05:09.the South Africans, mechanical issues. Looks like a break has lost

:05:10. > :05:21.its function. Did he hit the deck? He did. On the hairpin. I think that

:05:22. > :05:25.knocked his senses. It was a while before he was able to pick himself

:05:26. > :05:31.back up. He has bravely got back on his bike. Gomez in really good shape

:05:32. > :05:37.in the early stages of this cycle. He swam well. Gomez will fancy his

:05:38. > :05:42.chances especially as the pace has been pretty strong, but the chase

:05:43. > :05:53.group have yet to really make an impact. Gomez comes into this race

:05:54. > :05:58.with the most podium finishes in the series, 36 podium finishes, out of

:05:59. > :06:05.those in this race. 52nd seconds now to the chase group which contains

:06:06. > :06:10.Mario Mola, Alarza and worry. At the moment the lead group doing some

:06:11. > :06:17.good work. This is the lead pack. Tom Bishop on the front. He has done

:06:18. > :06:20.some great work. Known very much as a strong rider. Lots of guys talk

:06:21. > :06:25.about him but he has had a great swim today. Talking with Brendan

:06:26. > :06:29.Purcell, the performance director, he said Tom Bishop has had a great

:06:30. > :06:32.season, has trained really hard. He found himself in an absolutely

:06:33. > :06:40.fantastic position with this breakaway group. It was a toss-up

:06:41. > :06:45.between Tom Bishop and Gordon Benson to join the Brownlee brothers in the

:06:46. > :06:50.Olympics. It was a battle that Bishop ultimately lost. Gordon

:06:51. > :06:53.Benson not racing here. Bishop is, originally from Derby, now based in

:06:54. > :06:59.Leeds. History graduate from the University of Leeds. Tom Bishop

:07:00. > :07:03.currently the best place of the British riders. He is leading them

:07:04. > :07:10.through at the end of this lap ahead of Javier Gomez and Greg Billington.

:07:11. > :07:15.The second American, Ben Kanute. Van der Stel, Polyanskiy and Saubers

:07:16. > :07:29.Berg. The front pack has been whittled down. -- Salvisberg.

:07:30. > :07:38.Now we will see the next group. It looks like the Kristian Blummenfelt

:07:39. > :07:46.group has made an impact. Is Mario Mola with them? He is further down.

:07:47. > :07:47.Mario Mola we think another 25 seconds back. This should be his

:07:48. > :08:00.group now. Richard Murray has found himself 50

:08:01. > :08:04.seconds off the pace. Not an awful lot of good work being done by the

:08:05. > :08:09.chase group, which has now become the third group. And really they

:08:10. > :08:18.have done little damage. Roughly remained around 50 seconds. That is

:08:19. > :08:24.the Marc Austin group which also contains Mario Mola, Richard Murray

:08:25. > :08:27.and are a lot of serious contenders once they hit the run. For the

:08:28. > :08:43.moment they are not serious contenders.

:08:44. > :08:49.'S possibly what happened is that the front group has been called by

:08:50. > :08:56.the second pack, that would have been the third pack after that small

:08:57. > :08:59.little drop-off. The third pack as well try hard to catch up

:09:00. > :09:03.Blummenfelt and Marc Austin and whether they will sit up now or

:09:04. > :09:09.click the pressure on, this is where they can lose time. This is where

:09:10. > :09:14.the front pack has to work hard. The leading group approaching the end of

:09:15. > :09:22.Lap 7. That would leave then three more circuits of the Formula 1 motor

:09:23. > :09:27.tractor complete. Salvisberg of Switzerland out in front. Igor

:09:28. > :09:35.Polyanskiy, Greg Billington and Tom Bishop. Vincent Luis, the second of

:09:36. > :09:43.the Frenchman. Van der Stel of the Netherlands. Henri Schoeman of South

:09:44. > :09:49.Africa. Marco van der Stel in the lead group. The Dutchman. 25 years

:09:50. > :09:57.old. Recently raised in the World Cup event in Cape Town. Second in

:09:58. > :10:03.the Dutch national sprint championships late last year. Having

:10:04. > :10:11.a good race so far, van der Stel, but tends to go backwards on the

:10:12. > :10:17.run. Checking on the time gaps. Despite the efforts from Alarza,

:10:18. > :10:23.that chase group with Mario Mola which also contains Marc Austin has

:10:24. > :10:28.really failed to make an impact. Room it certainly has, stayed about

:10:29. > :10:31.the same. It gets a bit demoralising I think at this point when they have

:10:32. > :10:35.three laps to go and the coaches will be at their shouting the time

:10:36. > :10:39.differences. Some of them working hard, but when you are not pulling

:10:40. > :10:47.back any time this is when you have to dig really deep. Now the ride is

:10:48. > :10:56.almost up after an hour and 20 minutes of this triathlon. The

:10:57. > :11:02.dismount lined the red line across the track. Ben Kanute cut that quite

:11:03. > :11:08.fine. No red flags raised. It is legal so far. Now they trot up

:11:09. > :11:13.across the carpet. To find their running shoes and their allotted

:11:14. > :11:21.spaces in the transition area. Vincent Luis gets one shoe on the

:11:22. > :11:26.other follows. Javier Gomez struggling to get one of his shoes

:11:27. > :11:29.on. He has to take his helmet. Not the sharpest transition we have ever

:11:30. > :11:35.seen from Javier Gomez and Tom Bishop follows him out of

:11:36. > :11:39.transition. Of the ten who entered, Gomez was the penultimate man to

:11:40. > :11:46.leave. That wasn't the best transition Javier Gomez has ever

:11:47. > :11:54.executed. They are now bunching up. Now then. There are seven I think

:11:55. > :12:01.you have got away and three who were left with work to do. The second

:12:02. > :12:07.group, the chase is arriving. Let's see if Mario Mola, the first one in

:12:08. > :12:12.on the dismount line, red flags stayed on, no infringements from

:12:13. > :12:17.anybody so far. Mario Mola raises his game and starts to spread

:12:18. > :12:21.towards his place in transition. Alarza not far behind. Marc Austin

:12:22. > :12:25.has come in as well, the second of the British athletes through at the

:12:26. > :12:31.end of the bikes. Who is first to rise? It needs to be quick from

:12:32. > :12:34.Mario Mola and it is. He is the first to sprint away from

:12:35. > :12:42.transition. The dose to work with Richard Murray in third on his way

:12:43. > :12:45.out of transition. Third in that second group. Mario Mola I'm sure

:12:46. > :12:52.will join forces and attempt to hunt down the lead group. Gomez was

:12:53. > :12:58.rather sluggish by his standards in and out of transition. Now full of

:12:59. > :13:04.running at the front. Javier Gomez strikes for leadership of this race

:13:05. > :13:08.and brings Henri Schoeman along for company. Vincent Luis currently in

:13:09. > :13:13.the face, Tom Bishop, Salvisberg, Polyanskiy, the others scrapping to

:13:14. > :13:20.try and keep up with this electrifying early pace that Javier

:13:21. > :13:24.Gomez has brought. He likes to go out fast but I think it is important

:13:25. > :13:31.in this tough run you don't blow too early. The girls going out at a

:13:32. > :13:38.pretty steady pace. Then gradually winding it up. Ai Ueda went up

:13:39. > :13:42.really fast, chasing down the second pack, then she blew a little bit. It

:13:43. > :13:47.is important in these early stages just to bide your time a little bit.

:13:48. > :13:52.That nasty hell out of transition. Your heart rate already high after

:13:53. > :13:57.the bikes. You have to take it easy. Tom Bishop moving up into the eyes,

:13:58. > :14:05.long way to go yet. Good race from Tom Bishop so far. Mario Mola has

:14:06. > :14:12.work to do. 88 seconds the longest distance that has ever been made up

:14:13. > :14:17.from transition to finish. Garrett Schumacher back in the late 40s. I

:14:18. > :14:21.do not think he had quite the quality of opposition that Mario

:14:22. > :14:29.Mola and Murray have today. Wade front. Olympic medallists, multiple

:14:30. > :14:37.world champion, one of the greatest there has ever been, but Mario Mola

:14:38. > :14:45.and Murray and they are bouncing along nicely. Purpose in his stride

:14:46. > :14:49.as he and Richard Murray go to work. Tom Bishop has been as high as fifth

:14:50. > :14:54.in the world triathlon series races. In Edmonton in the bitter cold of

:14:55. > :15:07.early last September. Bishop had his best result there. He

:15:08. > :15:11.is mixing it up with Javier Gomez. This camera angle is deceptive but

:15:12. > :15:16.in the distance, top of your scene, you can see Pereira and Mera -- top

:15:17. > :15:24.of your screen. And just behind, Mario Mola. As Tom Bishop moves to

:15:25. > :15:29.within arms length of Javier Gomez. Henri Schoeman might not be able to

:15:30. > :15:36.go with them. At the end of lap one, Bishop and Gomez have got a bit of

:15:37. > :15:41.daylight ahead of Henri Schoeman. Remarkable running, so far, from Tom

:15:42. > :15:42.Bishop of Great Britain. He is running shoulder to shoulder with

:15:43. > :16:01.Javier Gomez. We will see how much damage Mola and

:16:02. > :16:07.Murray have done when they cross the line to conclude the first of their

:16:08. > :16:12.four laps. Schoeman can't match the pace of Gomez and Bishop right now.

:16:13. > :16:17.Wow, I'm impressed by what I'm seeing. Tom Bishop running an

:16:18. > :16:20.amazing race. It is early days. They still have 7.5 kilometres to go but

:16:21. > :16:26.at the moment looking very comfortable. Our chase pack coming

:16:27. > :16:30.through. 32 seconds is the time difference. They've made nothing

:16:31. > :16:38.back -- 52 seconds. Around about the same as the first lap of the four

:16:39. > :16:45.lap course. At -- hard work for Javi Hervas Tom Tom behind him. Gomez is

:16:46. > :16:50.used to running with a British triathletes in front. It is not

:16:51. > :16:54.normally this one. It is one of the Brownlee brothers usually. Gomez and

:16:55. > :17:00.Alistair and Jonathan have enjoyed such titanic struggles over the

:17:01. > :17:04.years. Today, no Brownleebut Bishop is flying the flag. At the moment,

:17:05. > :17:08.he is going with Gomez. Schoeman has been left. Yeah.

:17:09. > :17:14.On his shoulder, one of the athletes, Vincent Luis from France,

:17:15. > :17:19.running himself into third position. that.

:17:20. > :17:25.This is a tough course. It is breaking up the athletes, demanding

:17:26. > :17:30.on its technical, it has hills. They would have had the wind out there

:17:31. > :17:35.today as well. Javier Gomez leaves round one of the 2070 world

:17:36. > :17:42.triathlon series in Abu Dhabi. He has one man for company -- leaves

:17:43. > :17:43.round one of the 2017. They are our leaders silhouetted against the

:17:44. > :17:55.middle Eastern sunset in Abu Dhabi. Gomez will be feeling pretty

:17:56. > :17:59.comfortable. He will be used to a Brit but at this Brit. He will know

:18:00. > :18:03.what Tom is capable on the bike and on the swim. -- but not this. Very

:18:04. > :18:06.little is known about what Tom can do in this stage because we've never

:18:07. > :18:13.seen him here like this before. Vincent Luis broken away in third

:18:14. > :18:18.position, leaving the South African, Schoeman behind him. Vincent Luis

:18:19. > :18:21.looking comfortable. He had a tough year in 2016 with some personal

:18:22. > :18:26.problems, didn't race at all but he likes to race. It is great to see

:18:27. > :18:30.him back racing this early in the season. Still no separation between

:18:31. > :18:41.Javier Gomez and Tom Bishop. Fact, Tom Bishop has just moved

:18:42. > :18:49.ahead of the Spaniard. Tom Bishop is dictating the pattern of lap three.

:18:50. > :18:54.Mola group including Alarza, Pereira and Murray, Mola struggling to stay

:18:55. > :18:58.with Alarza Pereira and Murray. He doesn't look comfortable at all.

:18:59. > :19:03.That is not a common sight for Mola, that's for sure. Yes, Mola was

:19:04. > :19:11.looking lame as he came onto the cobblestones. They lost time, well

:19:12. > :19:15.over 1.1 when they went through. Gomez trying to break Bishop. Gomez

:19:16. > :19:20.has decided he won't wait for the Bell. He wants to have a crack for

:19:21. > :19:26.the front. Gomez has moved it up a gear. He has established a lead of

:19:27. > :19:34.one second and a half. Nice move from Javier Gomez possibly not what

:19:35. > :19:39.Tom Bishop was expecting. The 33-year-old, who was born in Basel,

:19:40. > :19:41.but very much a proud Spaniard, leaves this world triathlon series

:19:42. > :19:52.open. -- leaves The lead is stretched. As Tom Bishop

:19:53. > :19:58.got anything left? Can he countered this break from Gomez? Or has Gomez

:19:59. > :20:02.gone too early with more than a lap to go. He's gone early, it looks

:20:03. > :20:07.like a significant surge at this point. A good 25 metres between

:20:08. > :20:10.them. We can see Tom Bishop grimacing. Tom has got to get his

:20:11. > :20:16.head down, focus and not think about the pain. Gomez perhaps has decided

:20:17. > :20:19.that he doesn't really know what this guy's running abilities are, he

:20:20. > :20:21.will go and not wait until the final lap and that is exactly what he has

:20:22. > :20:37.done. He is pushing as hard as he dares.

:20:38. > :20:43.But the pace is falling away all the time. 15 seconds behind Javier Gomez

:20:44. > :20:49., now. Danger, behind, from Vincent Luis in third. Good to see that

:20:50. > :20:52.Bishop hasn't completely blown. Psychologically, you can see now

:20:53. > :20:57.just under 1.5 kilometres per go, he can just hang on. He's looking hot.

:20:58. > :21:01.I know it sounds ridiculous to say he is still moving forward, the legs

:21:02. > :21:08.are still going. Doesn't take any water. He has his sights set on the

:21:09. > :21:15.finish line. Javier Gomez has got a sea of lap to runners ahead of him.

:21:16. > :21:20.He will slalom his way through. -- runners. Hopefully continue to

:21:21. > :21:26.progress up to take his first win since August of 2015. He looks

:21:27. > :21:32.pretty comfortable, Javier Gomez. Remains to be seen who will end up

:21:33. > :21:39.in second and third. There are various triathletes lurking. We saw

:21:40. > :21:42.Murray, Alarza. Bishop is still clinging on to second position. That

:21:43. > :21:47.camera angle doesn't give you a really accurate impression of who is

:21:48. > :21:52.aware. That I know that Murray and Alarza probably fancy a trip to the

:21:53. > :21:58.podium -- who is where. Vincent Luis vacancy ahead of him. He is just

:21:59. > :22:03.about holding third. -- you can see just ahead. Tom Bishop clinging on

:22:04. > :22:06.to second. Javier Gomez Noya within 100 metres of victory in Abu Dhabi.

:22:07. > :22:12.Absolutely. Bishop has hung on and has had Vincent Luis not exactly

:22:13. > :22:15.breathing down his neck but pulling back sometime. Tom Bishop has had a

:22:16. > :22:19.phenomenal run and he will make the podium for the first time ever in

:22:20. > :22:24.his career is on the world triathlon series. The noise levels rise to

:22:25. > :22:27.welcome a great champion who starts to celebrate now.

:22:28. > :22:36.One of the greatest of all time. Javier Gomez from Spain will win the

:22:37. > :22:42.first world triathlon series race of 2017. He knows which way to go, no

:22:43. > :22:46.point in turning right, he needs to go up the other blue corridor to

:22:47. > :22:50.find the finish line. He can ease down and enjoy the moment. Hopefully

:22:51. > :22:55.he will raise his sunglasses and we will be able to see the joy on the

:22:56. > :23:00.face of Javier Gomez as he crosses the line to win round one in some

:23:01. > :23:03.style. APPLAUSE What a win for Gomez. What a

:23:04. > :23:10.comeback. And an unbelievable day for British triathlon. And for Tom

:23:11. > :23:15.Bishop. Who will finish. In second position. Bishop home to take the

:23:16. > :23:24.silver in Abu Dhabi. 13 seconds behind the great Javier Gomez. What

:23:25. > :23:28.a day for Bishop. His best ever performance. In the absence of the

:23:29. > :23:33.Brownlees, British triathlon has a new star to celebrate. It is a

:23:34. > :23:39.podium return after a lengthy absence for the likeable French

:23:40. > :23:46.Frenchman, Vincent Luis -- likeable Frenchman. He completes the podium

:23:47. > :23:52.places. Another Spaniard in the top five, Alarza pips Murray.

:23:53. > :23:57.Murray in fifth. Alarza just ahead of him.

:23:58. > :24:04.It's great to come back this way. I still made a few mistakes in the

:24:05. > :24:07.race, I didn't swim very well, I had a terrible second part but I knew it

:24:08. > :24:11.would be a tough run. With Tom, it was very tactical. The third lap, we

:24:12. > :24:15.slowed down a lot I was trying to save energy for the last lap and I

:24:16. > :24:19.made my move with about three kilometres to go. It worked well. I

:24:20. > :24:25.am happy to be back this way. I can't quite believe it. I had a

:24:26. > :24:28.plan, wanted to swim as well as I could, save as much energy on the

:24:29. > :24:31.bike. I wasn't sure how it was going to go, the first race of the season.

:24:32. > :24:35.I got onto the run at my back was sore, I had to warm up into it but I

:24:36. > :24:39.had Gomez to pace me through. He is a good person to follow, hang on to

:24:40. > :24:42.him as long as you could and he dragged me into second. I was

:24:43. > :24:47.surprised. He is always strong on his bike but he ran very well, I

:24:48. > :24:51.have to congratulate him. It was an amazing run at it made me doubt how

:24:52. > :24:56.strong he was. I was trying to save energy for the last lap and I had a

:24:57. > :25:01.bit extra. Jonny and Alistair have set the bar for the British teams

:25:02. > :25:04.alongside the women. I looked at those guys and that is the pinnacle

:25:05. > :25:06.of our sport in the world, not just in Britain. If I can get anywhere

:25:07. > :25:14.near them, I am doing a good job. COMMENTATOR: A superb victory for

:25:15. > :25:18.Javier Gomez in Abu Dhabi and a brilliant day for Tom Bishop,

:25:19. > :25:22.finishing in second. A happy return to the world triathlon series for

:25:23. > :25:28.Vincent Luis, who finished third. Marc Austin finished in 14th

:25:29. > :25:31.position. Grant Sheldon didn't finish the race, following an

:25:32. > :25:34.incident on the seventh lap of the bike.

:25:35. > :25:38.Unbelievable day for Tom Bishop, sharing the podium with Vincent Luis

:25:39. > :25:46.and have yet is. STUDIO: What a race for Tom Bishop.

:25:47. > :25:51.Amazing. I don't think anyone of us could have caused that this morning.

:25:52. > :25:56.He is a young athlete, only 25 that been around for a while racing in

:25:57. > :26:01.juniors and under 23. Fantastic to see the work he's put in. It has

:26:02. > :26:05.come to fruition. To get a silver medal today behind have a go as was

:26:06. > :26:09.something really special. I love what he said, have Labour as was

:26:10. > :26:16.pacing me. What a thought that must have been for him in the race --

:26:17. > :26:18.Javier Garrido was. I wondered what was going through his head. He

:26:19. > :26:22.suffered with nerves and things in the past. With Javier Gomez after

:26:23. > :26:26.kilometre one and kilometre two, he must have almost had a slide of out

:26:27. > :26:31.of body experience. Great result for him right now. -- a slight out of

:26:32. > :26:34.body experience. Does that help and go forward immensely? When an

:26:35. > :26:38.athlete has a breakthrough race, they need to keep the momentum that

:26:39. > :26:41.he has proved himself and proved to British triathlon and the triathlon

:26:42. > :26:47.world that he's got something pretty special. He is going to go into the

:26:48. > :26:49.next race with a lot of confidence. And four, Javier Gomez coming in

:26:50. > :26:56.back in the race with that sort of results. It must have been what he

:26:57. > :27:01.was hoping for. -- and for how the eight is. So much respect he went

:27:02. > :27:05.through an incredible difficulty. In the run-up to 2016 he was a bit of a

:27:06. > :27:09.strong with the Brownlees. It was always between the three of them and

:27:10. > :27:14.then 2016 was a bit of a disaster. To come back in 2017 and take their

:27:15. > :27:18.victory very convincingly, it must boost his confidence. Tell us about

:27:19. > :27:24.the psychology between the two of them, they were trying to test each

:27:25. > :27:27.other out. Javier Said it in the post race interview, he said he

:27:28. > :27:32.didn't really know what this guy had. He said he knew he could bike

:27:33. > :27:38.didn't know what he could do on the run. He was it. It was his

:27:39. > :27:44.experience that beats Tom Bishop. Third place, Vincent Luis, back in

:27:45. > :27:48.form. Brilliant. Another athlete that had a tough year last year. He

:27:49. > :27:50.looked like he was going to do something special at the real

:27:51. > :27:53.Olympics when he ran away with the Brownlees early on but dropped back

:27:54. > :27:59.and dropped a few places -- real Olympics. He had a few injury

:28:00. > :28:03.problems. -- Rio Olympics. But to see the young Frenchman, he can

:28:04. > :28:06.really give something to world triathlon series. A very complete

:28:07. > :28:09.and strong athlete and well-respected. Shaping up nicely

:28:10. > :28:15.for the rest of the series. Most definitely. Plenty more sport across

:28:16. > :28:20.the BBC this afternoon. On BBC Two, right after us, more from indoor

:28:21. > :28:24.athletics. You can follow the football on BBC five live or on the

:28:25. > :28:28.BBC sport website. If you are a triathlon fan, you'll have to wait

:28:29. > :28:32.for round two, sprint distance and it's the Gold Coast.

:28:33. > :28:38.Both men's and women's races we have covered.

:28:39. > :28:46.On the red button and the BBC sport website and highlights on BBC Two.

:28:47. > :28:50.Let's pretend this is the beach, the water is on at the sun is out. It's

:28:51. > :28:55.almost like we are there. Goodbye for now.
