0:00:35 > 0:00:39This is uncharted territory for the Young Lions of England. It is Brazil
0:00:39 > 0:00:43against England for a place in the World Cup final. Opportunity for
0:00:43 > 0:00:48Brewster! In the second time. Rhian Bruce done to give England the lead
0:00:48 > 0:00:54inside ten minutes. Paulinho! Wesley trying to get the rebound and he
0:00:54 > 0:01:01has. Sessegnon on the overlap. Brewster is waiting. Brewster.
0:01:01 > 0:01:08England back in front. Brewster! Another England hat-trick! England
0:01:08 > 0:01:16under 17s are through to their first-ever World Cup final.Hello
0:01:16 > 0:01:19and welcome. England are potentially 90 minutes away from claiming a
0:01:19 > 0:01:25second World Cup title in 2017, after that thrilling win over
0:01:25 > 0:01:29Brazil, the under 17s face Spain in the World Cup final in Kolkata.
0:01:29 > 0:01:32Kick-off in India is less than ten minutes away and we will have the
0:01:32 > 0:01:37whole game live. Joining us for this one, former England defender Danny
0:01:37 > 0:01:40Mills and Paul Simpson, who had the honour of coaching England under 20s
0:01:40 > 0:01:45to their World Cup win in June. Thank you for joining us. Paul, that
0:01:45 > 0:01:51was England's first World Cup in 51 years. The under 17s have just
0:01:51 > 0:01:56beaten the tournament favourites, Brazil, how highly do you rate them?
0:01:56 > 0:01:59These are a fantastic group of players, real talented individuals,
0:01:59 > 0:02:03they've got a great work ethic amongst the group and you know, the
0:02:03 > 0:02:06other thing that impressed me, I spent a couple of days with them
0:02:06 > 0:02:09last July and they are really good lads as well. They are very
0:02:09 > 0:02:13determined and focused on what they want to do and hopefully they can go
0:02:13 > 0:02:17this final step the -- this afternoon. You can see the team
0:02:17 > 0:02:21ethic. It's been an unprecedented -year-old successful England's youth
0:02:21 > 0:02:24teams and when you think of the work that goes on behind the scenes, it
0:02:24 > 0:02:27is no accident.
0:02:27 > 0:02:28that goes on behind the scenes, it is no accident. It's not and this
0:02:28 > 0:02:31has been coming for some time. This plan was put together several years
0:02:31 > 0:02:37ago, to get the England national teams at lower level, St George's
0:02:37 > 0:02:40Park has been a huge part of that but playing all the way through,
0:02:40 > 0:02:43getting ready for tournaments. At the top level, we have always failed
0:02:43 > 0:02:47which is because we have not taken tournaments at youth level
0:02:47 > 0:02:48which is because we have not taken tournaments at youth level seriously
0:02:48 > 0:02:53up until the last for five years. Obviously, with Paul's success last
0:02:53 > 0:02:56year, what an unbelievable achievement but it gives everybody
0:02:56 > 0:03:01huge inspiration to go on and mimic it.Paul, you were talking about the
0:03:01 > 0:03:06team and there has been so many key players but certainly a couple of
0:03:06 > 0:03:10standouts, particularly Manchester City's Philip Foden and Liverpool's
0:03:10 > 0:03:13Rhiannon Brewster, two players who have got everyone talking, not least
0:03:13 > 0:03:19their bestie managers, Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp, raving about them.
0:03:19 > 0:03:20their bestie managers, Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp, raving about them.
0:03:20 > 0:03:23-- their first team managers. They have shown they can go to the
0:03:23 > 0:03:28highest level.Philip Foden has great balance and ability and a
0:03:28 > 0:03:32wonderful left foot and he is creative, plays with a smile on his
0:03:32 > 0:03:35face, and Rhian Bruce star, he is a natural goal-scorer. I've watched
0:03:35 > 0:03:40him a couple of times in Liverpool's under 23s and you look at his
0:03:40 > 0:03:43goal-scoring form in this competition, it has been excellent,
0:03:43 > 0:03:48this is not just a coincidence that he is in that position, he's in a
0:03:48 > 0:03:51great position and when you've got people like Foden creating, showing
0:03:51 > 0:03:55little bits of skill like this where he can go past players with ease,
0:03:55 > 0:04:00he's got a great chance of getting goals.Absolutely fantastic, the
0:04:00 > 0:04:05pair of them. We are moments away from kick off. Time to hand you over
0:04:05 > 0:04:11to the Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata for the final of the under 17 World
0:04:11 > 0:04:14Cup, your commentary team is former England winger Trevor Sinclair and
0:04:14 > 0:04:18Steve Bower. COMMENTATOR: Welcome along. What a
0:04:18 > 0:04:21day, one game from glory, the biggest day in these teenagers'
0:04:21 > 0:04:30lives. Hardly speak in the stadium to be had as well. The rematch of
0:04:30 > 0:04:37what, as recently as June, was the final of the European Championships,
0:04:37 > 0:04:40is now the World Cup final.
0:04:42 > 0:04:47Those nerves will be jangling and they will only increase after the
0:04:47 > 0:04:52playing of the two national anthems. Ladies and gentlemen, please stand
0:04:52 > 0:04:54for the national anthem of England.
0:04:58 > 0:05:07# God save our gracious Queen Long live our noble Queen
0:05:07 > 0:05:13# God save the Queen
0:05:13 > 0:05:19# Send her victorious
0:05:19 > 0:05:25# Happy and glorious
0:05:25 > 0:05:32# Long to reign over us
0:05:32 > 0:05:36# God save the Queen. #
0:05:40 > 0:05:44APPLAUSE
0:05:53 > 0:05:56And now the national anthem of Spain.
0:05:56 > 0:06:06MUSIC: Marcha Real.
0:06:48 > 0:06:56APPLAUSE Wonderful atmosphere as well, over
0:06:56 > 0:07:0360,000 inside the stadium in Kolkata. Spain, the reigning
0:07:03 > 0:07:07European champions, only after that penalty shoot out victory over
0:07:07 > 0:07:13England in the Croatian government in the summer. -- Croatian
0:07:13 > 0:07:17tournament. England have seven from the final in the starting XI today,
0:07:17 > 0:07:22the same team that started and beat Brazil in the semifinals, led of
0:07:22 > 0:07:25course by the man getting all the personal headlines, Rhiannon
0:07:25 > 0:07:32Brewster of Liverpool, -- Rhian Bruce. . Seven goals so far. He in
0:07:32 > 0:07:37line for personal glory would be Golden Boot as well. That will be
0:07:37 > 0:07:41more sweet if he can help it into the World Cup finals. Spain include
0:07:41 > 0:07:44four players from Barcelona, four from Real Madrid but all eyes and
0:07:44 > 0:07:49all the talk is Abel Ruiz, the centre forward and captain wearing
0:07:49 > 0:07:52number nine of Barcelona, only one short of Brewster with six goals in
0:07:52 > 0:08:00the tournament, the only man who can deny him that accolade is already a
0:08:00 > 0:08:04regular in Barcelona's B team. Plenty of options for both teams
0:08:04 > 0:08:08from the bench. Just a mention of Jadon Sancho who played in the first
0:08:08 > 0:08:14three games of the competition for England, left Manchester City for
0:08:14 > 0:08:18Borussia Dortmund, scored three goals as well before rather
0:08:18 > 0:08:21controversially, Dortmund recalled him out of the tournament and gave
0:08:21 > 0:08:26him his full Bundesliga debut last weekend. But England have managed
0:08:26 > 0:08:29brilliantly without him and I am sure he will be watching from
0:08:29 > 0:08:39Germany today to see if these young Lions can complete the job.
0:08:39 > 0:08:41Latibeaudiere, there, the England captain, one of the players who
0:08:41 > 0:08:45missed the spot kick in the European final, meeting today's reverie, who
0:08:45 > 0:08:54is from Paraguay Henrique Caceres. And the opposing captain, he will be
0:08:54 > 0:09:05marking, who scored in the final in Croatia, Abel Ruiz of Barcelona.
0:09:05 > 0:09:11Spain have won the toss and they overcame Mali in the semifinals,
0:09:11 > 0:09:13Steve Cooper looking to emulate what studio guest Paul Simpson did with
0:09:13 > 0:09:19the under 20s in the summer, only 37 years old, appointed to this age
0:09:19 > 0:09:27group in July 2000 15. Santiago Denia, the Spanish coach, looking to
0:09:27 > 0:09:31be the first-ever European coach to win the European and World Cups in
0:09:31 > 0:09:36the same year. Trevor Sinclair watched the semifinal with me. We
0:09:36 > 0:09:42were excited by that. What are you expecting today?I'm really excited,
0:09:42 > 0:09:45I've got to say, the performance that England put in against Brazil
0:09:45 > 0:09:51in the semifinal was absolutely outstanding and they did not put a
0:09:51 > 0:09:54foot wrong. I think they have got to keep their emotions out of it, take
0:09:54 > 0:09:58the experience from losing the European final against Spain, try to
0:09:58 > 0:10:01take the positives from that game, and maybe a bit of revenge has got
0:10:01 > 0:10:06to be on the cards. The final few words of encouragement in the
0:10:06 > 0:10:15huddle. England's fourth major youth final of the calendar year. Will
0:10:15 > 0:10:18there be more celebration?
0:10:22 > 0:10:24It is one of those once-in-a-lifetime opportunities for
0:10:24 > 0:10:31these teenagers. Can England grab it with both hands? There will be a new
0:10:31 > 0:10:38name on this World Cup trophy today. Will it be England's? And can they
0:10:38 > 0:10:42do what they so narrowly failed to do in the summer in the final of the
0:10:42 > 0:10:48Euros in Croatia and overcome Spain, who incidentally, unlike England,
0:10:48 > 0:10:52have been beaten in this tournament, on their road to the final by Brazil
0:10:52 > 0:10:57in the opening group match, 2-1, who of course, England swept aside in
0:10:57 > 0:11:04the semifinals. England come to be got through their group against
0:11:04 > 0:11:07Chile place-macro, Mexico and Iraq and then needed a penalty shoot out
0:11:07 > 0:11:15win, yes, a win, against Japan. Then they beat the USA and Brazil. The
0:11:15 > 0:11:20first opportunity, Brewster, what a start this could be! Gibbs-White's
0:11:20 > 0:11:24effort kept out by Alvaro Fernandez in the Spain goal.Brilliant move
0:11:24 > 0:11:29from England, very patient from the back, waiting for the opportunity to
0:11:29 > 0:11:33miss the line-out.Hudson-Odoi to McEachern. Really positive start
0:11:33 > 0:11:41from England's Young Lions. Hudson-Odoi with the skill. Shop
0:11:41 > 0:11:46from Foden, blocked.Outstanding start, really comfortable in
0:11:46 > 0:11:51possession, taking responsibility. An important touch at the other end
0:11:51 > 0:11:55from Guehi because Abel Ruiz, the main man, they know all about him,
0:11:55 > 0:11:58England, he scored against them in the Euros final, scored six in this
0:11:58 > 0:12:02tournament he was right on the defender's shoulder.Putting
0:12:02 > 0:12:06pressure in the opening sections of the game, not allowing England to
0:12:06 > 0:12:10play out easily. -- opening seconds. Brewster, looking for Gibbs-White on
0:12:10 > 0:12:16the edge the six yard box. Cleared by Jamie Mackie, the Spanish right
0:12:16 > 0:12:20back. What an open start. Ferran Torres, the very highly rated young
0:12:20 > 0:12:28Valencia player. He was fouled by Panzo.Panzo got a bit too tight to
0:12:28 > 0:12:31him there. Looking at this move, great manipulation of the first
0:12:31 > 0:12:35touch, good movement again from Brewster. Just managing to get his
0:12:35 > 0:12:38shot off, good stop by the goalkeeper but encouraging signs for
0:12:38 > 0:12:45England, similar to how they started against Brazil.Gibbs-White, who has
0:12:45 > 0:12:49already played 12 times in the Wolves first team. Made that
0:12:49 > 0:12:52opportunity in the first minute of the World Cup final for England.
0:12:52 > 0:12:57Blanco, for Spain. He was stopped by Oakley-Boothe.
0:13:00 > 0:13:03Hudson-Odoi.
0:13:07 > 0:13:11Neatly done by Gibbs-White. Foden, he knows he's got Sessegnon on the
0:13:11 > 0:13:17overlap. Just lacking the composure at the all-important moment.Great
0:13:17 > 0:13:21play again. I was really a with Hudson-Odoi on the left-hand side in
0:13:21 > 0:13:25the three for England in the Brazil game, coming inside, nice and
0:13:25 > 0:13:28bright, excellent pass from Phil Foden again and just a bit sloppy
0:13:28 > 0:13:32with a cross by Sessegnon who was really good in the last game. He
0:13:32 > 0:13:35needs to make sure he keeps that in play and gives his forwards a chance
0:13:35 > 0:13:43to get on the end of it.Will on's clearance. The Spanish centre-back,
0:13:43 > 0:13:46then the England captain, Latibeaudiere of Manchester City,
0:13:46 > 0:13:49the academy Player of the Year last year for his club. Steve Cooper has
0:13:49 > 0:13:53said they won't change their plan their way of playing for any team.
0:13:53 > 0:13:56He has stuck with that right way through the tournament, 4-1, they
0:13:56 > 0:14:02beat the USA the quarterfinals. 3-1, they beat Brazil in the semifinals
0:14:02 > 0:14:06and they have started this one in a very positive frame of mind again.
0:14:06 > 0:14:10Yeah, Latibeaudiere was a leader in the semifinal, you could see his
0:14:10 > 0:14:12communication and leadership skills, making sure the defence were nice
0:14:12 > 0:14:17and tight. Leading from the back is always a good way. I feel he did
0:14:17 > 0:14:21that well without having the captain's armband, so excellent to
0:14:21 > 0:14:28see that from a defender. Latibeaudiere finding Gibbs-White.
0:14:28 > 0:14:31Manchester City's Phil Foden. Under pressure from Miranda, the Barcelona
0:14:31 > 0:14:37full-back. Barcelona and Real Madrid, as I mentioned, providing
0:14:37 > 0:14:42eight of the Spanish starting XI. Manchester City and Chelsea are
0:14:42 > 0:14:47avoiding seven of the England starting XI. -- providing seven.
0:14:51 > 0:14:53Foden once more, just trying to squeeze it through the legs of
0:14:53 > 0:14:59Miranda. Trying to find Gibbs-White. You can already see Miranda does not
0:14:59 > 0:15:03want Foden with the ball at his feet, he is pressing as soon as the
0:15:03 > 0:15:06ball looks like it is going anywhere near him and there is a risk if that
0:15:06 > 0:15:09happens is that the ball could be played in straight behind Miranda
0:15:09 > 0:15:13and Foden might beat him without the ball.
0:15:20 > 0:15:23Panzo of Chelsea, who actually celebrated, and what a way to
0:15:23 > 0:15:29celebrate his 17th birthday on semifinal day. That win over Brazil.
0:15:29 > 0:15:33Foden. Miranda having to chase back again for Spain which he did
0:15:33 > 0:15:38successfully on that occasion and drew the foul from Foden.Just what
0:15:38 > 0:15:41I was talking about, is Miranda gets too far out wide, Foden will look
0:15:41 > 0:15:46for the ball inside the full-back and beat Miranda without having to
0:15:46 > 0:15:51risk the ball. Gotzis distances right, there, Miranda but something
0:15:51 > 0:15:58worth looking at in the rest of the game. They have the opportunity to
0:15:58 > 0:16:03make history, these England boys. No team from this age group had ever
0:16:03 > 0:16:07got to semifinal, let alone the World Cup. Spain have never won it
0:16:07 > 0:16:17either, remember. Ferran Torres of Valencia. And the goalkeeper, Curtis
0:16:17 > 0:16:22Anderson, a second time.Familiar story, that, he seemed to struggle
0:16:22 > 0:16:25to catch things first time around as the ball came in. A fizzing ball
0:16:25 > 0:16:29into the box, good skill, manipulation of the ball again. He
0:16:29 > 0:16:32just needs to try to make that stick, it happened quite a lot in
0:16:32 > 0:16:42the Brazil game. Was not the man in goal when Spain won that dramatic
0:16:42 > 0:16:47final of the Euros in the summer which incidentally, until the sixth
0:16:47 > 0:16:51minute of stoppage time, England were leading 2-1. And then, as it
0:16:51 > 0:17:00would do today, it went straight to penalties and Spain were victorious.
0:17:00 > 0:17:15Nice bit of skill from Victor. Jamie McGrigor is possessed. Sergio Gomez.
0:17:15 > 0:17:19Torres will keep this in.
0:17:43 > 0:17:48Miranda closed down by Foden, awkward bouncing ball, but well
0:17:48 > 0:17:53gathered in the end by Anderson. First bit of sustained pressure by
0:17:53 > 0:17:56Spain, there. They all looked very comfortable on the ball and I think
0:17:56 > 0:17:59England have to be gather when they don't press the ball that they don't
0:17:59 > 0:18:02get beaten too easily. At times, the Spanish players are dropping the
0:18:02 > 0:18:10shoulder and going past the England press. That can't happen.A new name
0:18:10 > 0:18:14on the under 17 World Cup which will either be Spain or England. Nigeria
0:18:14 > 0:18:19have won the last two tournaments, in 2015, they beat Mali in the
0:18:19 > 0:18:30final, who Spain overcame in their semifinal. Pretty comfortably, in
0:18:30 > 0:18:38the end, the Olympic champions were beaten. Spain will certainly have
0:18:38 > 0:18:41taken note of not only in the bowled to the final but particularly the
0:18:41 > 0:18:45game against Brazil in the semifinal.The performance
0:18:45 > 0:18:48especially, the shape individually and collectively, suits the players,
0:18:48 > 0:18:50the formation and definitely the patterns of play that England were
0:18:50 > 0:18:54able to do in the semifinal, they will be very aware. They will have
0:18:54 > 0:19:05their homework. -- have done their homework.McEachern. Latibeaudiere.
0:19:05 > 0:19:10The Doncaster born player, Manchester City's Academy Player of
0:19:10 > 0:19:16the Year last season. He suffered, missing game time in the last 12
0:19:16 > 0:19:26months or so.Fantastic atmosphere. We'll give them so much
0:19:26 > 0:19:32encouragement.The semifinal was the biggest game of their lives and this
0:19:32 > 0:19:42is an elevation from that. It is the first ever all European world under
0:19:42 > 0:19:4817 final, actually. Abel Ruiz. This is Miranda, looking to cut it back.
0:19:48 > 0:19:55Which he did and then touched by Sergio Gomez! England look for the
0:19:55 > 0:20:01flag and it did not arrive, and the Barcelona player has given Spain the
0:20:01 > 0:20:07lead inside the first ten minutes. It is his third goal of the
0:20:07 > 0:20:14tournament and a burst of the final. Great play by Spain, looks onside to
0:20:14 > 0:20:18me, nothing wrong with that. Just under the cross as the ball went in.
0:20:18 > 0:20:24I think it has got to be offside. Number ten, Gomez, in an offside
0:20:24 > 0:20:27position, affecting the game, affecting the ball, definitely
0:20:27 > 0:20:31putting off Curtis Anderson. I think that is one the officials have got
0:20:31 > 0:20:34wrong. Unfortunate for England but they've got to get on with it now,
0:20:34 > 0:20:41show the character they are made of. Clearly offside. And he actually
0:20:41 > 0:20:44gets a touch on it as well.
0:20:49 > 0:20:54Well, England have shown bags of character throughout this
0:20:54 > 0:20:56tournament. They knew they would need it in the final and they
0:20:56 > 0:21:03certainly do now. Still a long time to go and first blood to Spain.
0:21:03 > 0:21:06Sergio Gomez, who got three goals in six games in the Euros in the
0:21:06 > 0:21:09summer, and has three in seven in the World Cup final. Brewster for
0:21:09 > 0:21:19England. Blocked by Guillermo. England corner.Great emergency
0:21:19 > 0:21:22defending by Ghoulam on. He could see the danger of Brewster on his
0:21:22 > 0:21:33right hand side, cut across the defender, and an England call-up.
0:21:33 > 0:21:39Foden with it. An enticing one, headed away by Torres the Spain.
0:21:43 > 0:21:50Oakley-Boothe back in. Jamie Mackreth's clearance. -- Jese's
0:21:50 > 0:21:55limits. Torres penalised, England free kick.Realise the urgency of
0:21:55 > 0:21:58the situation and got his body in the wake and won an important free
0:21:58 > 0:22:03kick for England. I think they reacted well from conceding a goal.
0:22:03 > 0:22:07They got on the front foot, put the ball in the box, and a shot blocked,
0:22:07 > 0:22:12great reaction from the players.
0:22:17 > 0:22:25Hudson-Odoi of Chelsea. He is going to deliver the free kick for
0:22:25 > 0:22:30England. Looking for the all-important touch. Well defended
0:22:30 > 0:22:33as Guehi tried to come in, but it has come back to Hudson-Odoi. Really
0:22:33 > 0:22:47cleverly done. Oh, just a fraction too strong. Foden. Still Foden.
0:22:47 > 0:22:52Another touch from Miranda.Looked a little bit naughty, that, by the
0:22:52 > 0:22:55Spanish player, standing right on the back of Phil Foden as he was
0:22:55 > 0:23:00lying on the floor. Excellent play by Hudson-Odoi, just a bit too high
0:23:00 > 0:23:07on the far post. Foden keeps it alive, this little chopped, got it
0:23:07 > 0:23:11on the right, showed that in the semifinal and just as he goes down,
0:23:11 > 0:23:15he stands on his... Bit cynical, that, for me, lucky the officials
0:23:15 > 0:23:18didn't see it.
0:23:24 > 0:23:31There is the aforementioned Miranda of Barcelona. Safely into the arms
0:23:31 > 0:23:35of Curtis Anderson, the Manchester City goalkeeper who I will tell you
0:23:35 > 0:23:40before Trevor gets out of at the Blackpool Academy.Excellent
0:23:40 > 0:23:42starting position from Curtis Anderson, taking the pressure off
0:23:42 > 0:23:50the back four, taking it nice and safely on the edge of his box.
0:23:56 > 0:24:07Back from Panzo. Curtis Anderson did not make the contact he wanted.
0:24:07 > 0:24:14Torres. That was the goal-scorer, Sergio Gomez.Probably worth
0:24:14 > 0:24:17mentioning in the game before between Mali and Brazil, just
0:24:17 > 0:24:20looking at the bobbly pitch, the game was played directly before this
0:24:20 > 0:24:24one so there might be a few bubbles, probably not the best preparation
0:24:24 > 0:24:29for the World Cup final. That is a strange decision by Fifa, having the
0:24:29 > 0:24:34third-place play-off directly before this game on the same pitch, which
0:24:34 > 0:24:40Brazil won, the team beaten by England in the semifinals.
0:24:40 > 0:24:45Incidentally, only the fiscal England have conceded all
0:24:45 > 0:24:49tournament. The good news is, they've scored 18. Sessegnon has
0:24:49 > 0:24:55done really well, or has he? It had already gone out of play.Good idea
0:24:55 > 0:24:59from England, a high press, committed, if you can't go through,
0:24:59 > 0:25:02go over, and that was a good run by Sessegnon, just unable to keep ball
0:25:02 > 0:25:14in play. -- keep the ball in play. Yeah, looking at the wider angle, it
0:25:14 > 0:25:20looks like Sessegnon played on the goal-scorer, Gomez and the officials
0:25:20 > 0:25:27definitely got it right, my mistake! 15 minutes in, we are in the company
0:25:27 > 0:25:31of Paul Simpson, who knows what it is like to win a World Cup, with the
0:25:31 > 0:25:35under 20 plural in the summer. What have you made of it so far?I think
0:25:35 > 0:25:38we've had a good start but it's an unfortunate goal to give way. My
0:25:38 > 0:25:42first thought was it was offside as well, I was with Trevor but
0:25:42 > 0:25:45unfortunately, you could see that Sessegnon went to close down the
0:25:45 > 0:25:50burst cross and he just played everybody on. But it was a scrappy
0:25:50 > 0:25:54goal. -- down the first cross. There was a sequence where we had three or
0:25:54 > 0:26:00four players who were not quite at the Mark and allowed them into it.
0:26:00 > 0:26:10Thanks, Paul. The under 17s trying to follow his success and make it
0:26:10 > 0:26:16two World Cup wins in four months. Steve Cooper's side will have to try
0:26:16 > 0:26:20to come from behind to publish that. You can see how Spain have changed
0:26:20 > 0:26:25the game plan slightly, not pressing so high, expecting England to try to
0:26:25 > 0:26:29play through the lines of defence, and at present, they are doing a
0:26:29 > 0:26:32good job, just stay nice and compact and making it very difficult for
0:26:32 > 0:26:36England to create anything in the final third.
0:26:46 > 0:26:51Latibeaudiere could not find Brewster on that occasion.Imported
0:26:51 > 0:26:56that England stay nice and mentally strong, don't try to force it, keep
0:26:56 > 0:27:00on probing like we have seen them do before, probing, recycling the ball,
0:27:00 > 0:27:03moving the opposition defence out of the way and then holes will start to
0:27:03 > 0:27:11appear.Moha of Real Madrid.
0:27:15 > 0:27:23Spain have conceded five goals en route to the final. England have
0:27:23 > 0:27:26scored 18, the top scorers in the tournament.
0:27:29 > 0:27:35McEachran almost winning that back from Blanco.
0:27:49 > 0:27:57Sergio Gomez is onside. Sessegnon getting back. Important interception
0:27:57 > 0:28:07from Guehi. Hudson-Odoi for England. Taking on and beating always,
0:28:07 > 0:28:13terrific run but just too strong for Brewster. -- and beating Jaume.
0:28:17 > 0:28:19Excellent surging run from Hudson-Odoi down the left-hand side
0:28:19 > 0:28:24again. You feel that he has got the beating of the right back for Spain,
0:28:24 > 0:28:28every time he gets a chance, I would be giving him the ball so he can get
0:28:28 > 0:28:30at him.
0:28:39 > 0:28:42McEachran, George McEachran, the younger brother of the now Brentford
0:28:42 > 0:28:47player Josh, following in his brother's footsteps today, Josh
0:28:47 > 0:28:55played in a Euro 's final in 2010. George, like Josh, through the
0:28:55 > 0:28:59Chelsea system. He has found Foden will stop just a little too
0:28:59 > 0:29:02intricate on the edge of the area. Good defending from Spain, nice and
0:29:02 > 0:29:06compact.
0:29:18 > 0:29:21I've been very impressed with the reaction since conceding a goal,
0:29:21 > 0:29:24England have looked after the ball well, they are not forcing it,
0:29:24 > 0:29:28moving the ball laterally from side to side, asking questions of the
0:29:28 > 0:29:31Spanish defence, keeping the ball and creating one or two decent
0:29:31 > 0:29:34situation. I think Rhian Brewster on the far post could have had a gamble
0:29:34 > 0:29:38to get on the end of it but he is a goal-scorer, he knows where to golf
0:29:38 > 0:29:41or -- to go for the goals but not an application.Back-to-back hat-tricks
0:29:41 > 0:29:47in the tournament. Whatever happens today, he will remember that and
0:29:47 > 0:29:50this month fondly. Foden.
0:29:53 > 0:29:58It is a foul on Oakley-Boothe, the Spurs midfielder by Ghoulam on of
0:29:58 > 0:30:03Valencia.Great spatial awareness, there, understanding there was a man
0:30:03 > 0:30:07on him, getting his body between the ball and the defender. -- by
0:30:07 > 0:30:10Guillermo and of Valencia. Riding the challenge and winning the bow,
0:30:10 > 0:30:13in a dangerous position for England, this.
0:30:21 > 0:30:24Can they ask Spain a question? From this set play?
0:30:28 > 0:30:32Phil Foden is going to deliver it.
0:30:41 > 0:30:48Latibeaudiere and Guehi up from the back. In by Foden, Torres was first
0:30:48 > 0:30:54to it and it was cleared by Blanca. There could be a Spanish break.
0:30:54 > 0:31:01England totally exposed! The goalkeeper was brave. Still
0:31:01 > 0:31:06potentially live for Spain, now the offside flag is up against Torres.
0:31:06 > 0:31:19Anderson came to meet Eyoma, there. The heavy touch, straight... Great
0:31:19 > 0:31:22challenge, a little bit late, I have to say. Would have conceded a foul
0:31:22 > 0:31:29but brilliant bravery by Curtis Anderson by coming out and taking
0:31:29 > 0:31:36that.What a chance for the Real Madrid midfielder to make it?
0:31:36 > 0:31:42England back four looked very flat, way inside the opposition half. They
0:31:42 > 0:31:57need to be more aware of what is around.Steve Cooper, there.
0:31:57 > 0:32:00Previously with the England under 16s.
0:32:07 > 0:32:19Assisted by the likes of Mike Marsh. Sessegnon. Still Sessegnon! Onto his
0:32:19 > 0:32:24left foot.He could not find the target. Excellent trigger down the
0:32:24 > 0:32:29left-hand side by Steve Sessegnon. Nice, deep run and fantastic
0:32:29 > 0:32:33release. He got inside with a bit of true Greek and then that calmness,
0:32:33 > 0:32:40he has done the hard work, to stay composed. It was not there on this
0:32:40 > 0:32:45occasion but great signs for England, creating chances time and
0:32:45 > 0:32:50time again. That touch from Sergio Gomez of Barcelona is still football
0:32:50 > 0:32:57important one. In this Under 17 World Cup final in Kolkata. The
0:32:57 > 0:33:00temperature of 25 degrees.
0:33:05 > 0:33:12APM kick-off local time. They have played most of the matches in this
0:33:12 > 0:33:31stadium, except for one of them, in the end. -- 8pm. Latibeaudiere.
0:33:31 > 0:33:34These high full-backs from England are starting to cause Spain a lot of
0:33:34 > 0:33:47concerns in their shape. The touch from McEachran. Met by Victor.
0:33:47 > 0:33:59Cesar.Good pressing from England, forcing them into a hopeful ball
0:33:59 > 0:34:04down the line. Excellent play, getting touch type. But in the
0:34:04 > 0:34:10Spanish players under all kinds of pressure. This is a big moment for
0:34:10 > 0:34:15Spain. Understandably, facing a great deal of importance. England
0:34:15 > 0:34:19have not qualified for this tournament in each of the last
0:34:19 > 0:34:24three. The last appearance was back in 2009. We know how keen they are
0:34:24 > 0:34:30to bring on younger players. In-lap 2009 squad. The likes of Murat,
0:34:30 > 0:34:44Sergio Roberto, Jordi Amat. The captain was Stoke City's Mardonius.
0:34:44 > 0:34:53Great pathway. To forge a career in football. Still on the early
0:34:53 > 0:34:56ladders, the early steps in the latter, but this is a great platform
0:34:56 > 0:35:02to get that belief and move on.A great stage to showcase their
0:35:02 > 0:35:08talents?Absolutely, you never know who is watching football and there
0:35:08 > 0:35:13will be many Scots from around the world watching this game. You have
0:35:13 > 0:35:16every chance of moving, especially this young man, Phil Foden, he has
0:35:16 > 0:35:20been excellent in the tournament, showing different aspects to his
0:35:20 > 0:35:29game. To try to pull England back into this game, on level terms.
0:35:29 > 0:35:47Hudson-Odoi. He loves to run at players and he has done it again.
0:35:47 > 0:35:52Oakley-Boothe could not get that under control. Cesar.Better
0:35:52 > 0:35:57awareness from the England back four. Just got caught out a couple
0:35:57 > 0:36:02of minutes ago but there are more alert to the situation.Winning
0:36:02 > 0:36:10possession back. Here is Foden. Gibbs White went for the return.
0:36:10 > 0:36:16Foden shot was blocked. Spain managed to clear.Excellent
0:36:16 > 0:36:21manipulation of the ball by Phil Foden outside of his left foot,
0:36:21 > 0:36:25waiting for the return pass to play the shot at target. Gibbs-White held
0:36:25 > 0:36:30onto that a little bit too long. Good defending in the end by the
0:36:30 > 0:36:42Spanish side.This is Foden.Look how deep Spain are. A complement to
0:36:42 > 0:36:47the way England are keeping the ball, sometimes they go long and
0:36:47 > 0:36:51sometimes short, keeping the ball when there is no pressure. Excellent
0:36:51 > 0:36:57mix-up of the game and I am sure this is what Steve Cooper will be
0:36:57 > 0:37:02saying, Mexico, play short and long when you get the chance.Brewster. A
0:37:02 > 0:37:06chance to run at Spain and he was looking for a free kick after that
0:37:06 > 0:37:15challenge by Guillemont. The referee as they continue.Very strong
0:37:15 > 0:37:20challenge from the Spanish defender. Little bit of a clothesline into his
0:37:20 > 0:37:31face.Foden, away from Miranda. England corner. So refreshing as
0:37:31 > 0:37:36England on the front foot. Really attacking the Spanish side from all
0:37:36 > 0:37:39angles, left, right, centrally, asking a lot of questions of the
0:37:39 > 0:37:44Spanish back line at the moment. Alvaro Fernandez in goal, from
0:37:44 > 0:37:53Malaga. Foden's corner. It almost came through to Latibeaudiere.
0:37:58 > 0:38:05The shot in the end from Panzo. It just opened up for him. He will be
0:38:05 > 0:38:09disappointed he did not work the keeper. Alvaro Fernandez. He just
0:38:09 > 0:38:20hit the target. The Fifa drinks break. They mention the temperature,
0:38:20 > 0:38:2870% humility, 25 degrees in the evening. In Kolkata. Rehydration for
0:38:28 > 0:38:31the players and an opportunity for the coaches to have a word as well.
0:38:31 > 0:38:39It is that man, Sergio Gomez, of Barcelona, as we watch his goal
0:38:39 > 0:38:45again... Another word with Paul Simpson. What have you made of the
0:38:45 > 0:38:50England response since this? They had little bit spell or it should
0:38:50 > 0:38:55them up a little bit. They are starting to get more control of the
0:38:55 > 0:39:01ball and trying to keep possession. The way Spain are playing, they are
0:39:01 > 0:39:08allowing us to have it in their own half. They are quite comfortable.
0:39:08 > 0:39:12And we need the likes of Hudson-Odoi and Gibbs-White and Foden to get on
0:39:12 > 0:39:17the ball and try to get deeper and get those combinations around the
0:39:17 > 0:39:2118-yard box, we can get behind them because of the moment, although
0:39:21 > 0:39:25we're getting a little bit of the ball, we're not really troubling the
0:39:25 > 0:39:30back line and the goalkeeper. They need to do a bit better if we want
0:39:30 > 0:39:35to get back into it.Thank you, Paul. Fingers crossed that man can
0:39:35 > 0:39:40have an opportunity or two as well. Brewster, it was lovely to hear
0:39:40 > 0:39:47Jurgen Klopp speaking yesterday. The story not long after he scored that
0:39:47 > 0:39:50back-to-back World Cup hat-trick in the semifinal against Brazil that
0:39:50 > 0:39:54his phone rang and he did not recognise the number and it was his
0:39:54 > 0:39:58first team manager, Jurgen Klopp, who congratulated him and told him
0:39:58 > 0:40:04to save the number in his phone! Excellent! That will give him a huge
0:40:04 > 0:40:08confidence boost and not only that, it was not surprising to find out
0:40:08 > 0:40:12that Brewster trains with the first team very often and Phil Foden
0:40:12 > 0:40:17trains with Manchester City's first team and you can see the way the
0:40:17 > 0:40:20players are developing, the sharpness in scenarios, they just
0:40:20 > 0:40:26seem one step ahead of the opposition. The next step for them
0:40:26 > 0:40:30is to make that step into the first-team, which I am sure they
0:40:30 > 0:40:37will dreaming. This is a useful run from Guehi, trying to slide that
0:40:37 > 0:40:41through to Gibbs-White. Spain have shown how quick they are on the
0:40:41 > 0:40:53break. Cesar in the penalty area. Here he is! Trying to turn
0:40:53 > 0:41:01Sessegnon. He still has it across. Danger! Sergio Gomez again! Spain
0:41:01 > 0:41:10leading by two goals 2-0. And the same man who did the damage inside
0:41:10 > 0:41:16the first ten minutes, Sergio Gomez of Barcelona. And England are two
0:41:16 > 0:41:22down in the World Cup final.A real blow for England, I thought they
0:41:22 > 0:41:25dealt with the situation, hopeful ball into the box, great twisting
0:41:25 > 0:41:30and turning but this finish, what an absolute wonder strike that is! Two
0:41:30 > 0:41:35keepers and there would not say that and it is against the run of play,
0:41:35 > 0:41:39England have had good control of the ball since conceding the first goal
0:41:39 > 0:41:43and this will be a body blow. A big test of character now and their
0:41:43 > 0:41:54desire to go back into this match. He scored his third and fourth goals
0:41:54 > 0:42:02of the tournament in this final. Sergio Gomez. He ran straight to
0:42:02 > 0:42:11Santiago Denia and his staff. Huge delight for the Spanish, the modern
0:42:11 > 0:42:17has become a little bit bigger for England.-- the mountain. Affecting
0:42:17 > 0:42:22the game in the box is better than me or, shots on target, they have
0:42:22 > 0:42:27been very clinical from the Spanish and defensively they have and calm,
0:42:27 > 0:42:33not really given clear-cut chances away. A big job in hand. For this
0:42:33 > 0:42:37England side.
0:43:00 > 0:43:15Hudson-Odoi. Three in support.
0:43:18 > 0:43:21They have become very stretched, they cannot afford to concede a
0:43:21 > 0:43:31third goal.
0:43:34 > 0:43:39Oakley-Boothe muscled down a bit by Miranda, who has given it away. This
0:43:39 > 0:43:48is Panzo. Hudson-Odoi's Chelsea team-mate was the target.He wants
0:43:48 > 0:43:51to play that inside but the defending distance is so good that
0:43:51 > 0:43:55he has given it outside, play the outside ball and if you do bad
0:43:55 > 0:43:59enough he will come wider and you compare the inside ball but trying
0:43:59 > 0:44:03to force that inside the full-back, you have to be patient and wait for
0:44:03 > 0:44:12that situation to develop. Food for thought for Steve Cooper. Yes, he
0:44:12 > 0:44:15will be disappointed with the way the first half has panned out, they
0:44:15 > 0:44:19have had a lot of ball, some good situations but the final decisions
0:44:19 > 0:44:24have not been as good as in the past. A big learning curve for these
0:44:24 > 0:44:28players. It is not all about winning, they will take a lot of
0:44:28 > 0:44:31experience from this tournament in getting to the final. When you get
0:44:31 > 0:44:44there you want to win it, obviously. Torres. Blanco. Important that
0:44:44 > 0:44:50concentration levels are maintained for England.
0:44:58 > 0:45:04Blanco's touch, into Cesar. Sergio Gomez, he knew he had Miranda on the
0:45:04 > 0:45:11overlap!There was a push bike Torres. Worrying times for England,
0:45:11 > 0:45:14the way the Spanish players are strutting around in the middle of
0:45:14 > 0:45:19the park, it looks like they are enjoying their football with that
0:45:19 > 0:45:25two goal lead, two decent effect as well. Obviously a foul. Torres on
0:45:25 > 0:45:28the far post. Creating situations, two against one on the left hand
0:45:28 > 0:45:36side.
0:45:42 > 0:45:46England free kick.
0:45:56 > 0:46:05Latibeaudiere.Yes, trying to force that, he was looking about for a
0:46:05 > 0:46:07couple of seconds, the Spanish defence were in good positions to do
0:46:07 > 0:46:13with anything that was crossfield ball. Just bounce it off one of your
0:46:13 > 0:46:15team-mates, keep probing, just a little bit of impatience from
0:46:15 > 0:46:18Latibeaudiere.
0:46:32 > 0:46:36Understandable confidence evident from Spain.
0:46:43 > 0:46:50Foden for England... Gibbs-White wanted it early. Brewster will get
0:46:50 > 0:47:03it instead. Gibbs-White might still be the target. Confidently done.
0:47:03 > 0:47:07Very nice. You can see the confidence is really high in the
0:47:07 > 0:47:12Spanish team. Everybody wants the ball. It becomes more difficult
0:47:12 > 0:47:16against a team with that 2-goal lead. Especially in the middle of
0:47:16 > 0:47:20the park. You can see that as were the Spanish players are starting to
0:47:20 > 0:47:24dictate the play. You need to get players around them and start
0:47:24 > 0:47:39competing for the second balls. McEachran. George McCracken with the
0:47:39 > 0:47:53cross. Played by Victor. That was never troubling.Positive play. Keep
0:47:53 > 0:47:56your body over the ball and hit the target.
0:48:22 > 0:48:32Oakley-Boothe, 251 macro. Just looking a little bit flat, the
0:48:32 > 0:48:45England players. Just before the half-time whistle goes.
0:48:45 > 0:48:50Oakley-Boothe. Positive, direct, here is Brewster. That was
0:48:50 > 0:48:55travelling and it had Miranda straight in the face! Foden waiting!
0:48:55 > 0:49:03He felt he was pulled back. Phil Foden. It looked like physical
0:49:03 > 0:49:11contact, great player initially and the shot by Brewster. Clumsy, could
0:49:11 > 0:49:18quite easily have given away a penalty. Very lucky to get away with
0:49:18 > 0:49:30that, as it can see by Brewster. Good bravery by Miranda. Hands by
0:49:30 > 0:49:38his side, looking to block the ball. Brewster checking the Barcelona
0:49:38 > 0:49:45full-back is OK.That was a chance for Foden? I do have to say that
0:49:45 > 0:49:50game and was very clumsy. Foden was only a few yards out, that could
0:49:50 > 0:49:57have been a penalty decision and the officials did not see it that way.
0:49:57 > 0:50:13But more positive, but was a good end product.Blanco.
0:50:25 > 0:50:36Oakley-Boothe. He has only played for Spurs in the League Cup.Just
0:50:36 > 0:50:40looking at that switching of play, England have played it with the 30,
0:50:40 > 0:50:4640 yard ball on a few occasions, they need to break that up into if
0:50:46 > 0:50:49you different passes. At the moment the passing is not quite on with the
0:50:49 > 0:50:58longer range pass. Give it two or three passes.Another five minutes
0:50:58 > 0:51:11of the first-half in the Under 17 World Cup final. Foden to be correct
0:51:11 > 0:51:17Hudson-Odoi.One of the disadvantages when you play a right
0:51:17 > 0:51:21footed player on the left, he is always looking to get back onto his
0:51:21 > 0:51:28right foot. Different -- difficult ball to control.Speaking from a man
0:51:28 > 0:51:33who has been there and got the T-shirt!When you get the body can
0:51:33 > 0:51:36bring players into play, I would like to see Brewster stepping in and
0:51:36 > 0:51:41being the focal point a little bit more. They can bounce the ball is
0:51:41 > 0:51:46off him. And get runners. They are getting easy to predict at the
0:51:46 > 0:51:56moment, England. They need to change it up.Good pressure from McEachran.
0:51:56 > 0:52:01Gibbs-White as an option. He tried to go it alone. The pitch was
0:52:01 > 0:52:04playing its part, unfortunately. Good pressing, they need to get
0:52:04 > 0:52:08closer to the middle of the park. He just bubbled up before checking one
0:52:08 > 0:52:21of the judges. And he ran into his opposite number.
0:52:23 > 0:52:34Panzo. Hudson-Odoi. He can have a go! Off the post! That was well
0:52:34 > 0:52:40cleared. Callum Hudson-Odoi of Chelsea. A whisker away from getting
0:52:40 > 0:52:47one back for England. He passed that into the far post. Millimetres
0:52:47 > 0:52:54inside. A little bit more swerve and England are 2-1 down. Better play
0:52:54 > 0:52:58from England, looking more confident.Here goes Foden.
0:52:58 > 0:53:04Wonderful turn. He had the shot which could not quite generate
0:53:04 > 0:53:10enough power. He has got an unbelievable job with his left foot,
0:53:10 > 0:53:15it looks like he is playing with his left foot and he almost chops back
0:53:15 > 0:53:20onto himself to open it up with the right foot and the lacked power.
0:53:20 > 0:53:24Strong finish to the first-half from England. Hudson-Odoi hit the
0:53:24 > 0:53:26woodwork.
0:53:32 > 0:53:36Lifting towards Foden, Miranda was there first. Cleared by the
0:53:36 > 0:53:40goal-scorer, Sergio Gomez.
0:53:49 > 0:53:59Sessegnon.
0:54:01 > 0:54:09Hudson-Odoi again. He has picked out Foden. Wonderful first touch. And
0:54:09 > 0:54:13the second was not bad either. And he got the cross in. Gibbs-White
0:54:13 > 0:54:22waiting. Is a reward for this England pressure? Sessegnon's cross,
0:54:22 > 0:54:26there is! It is him again! Rain Brewster! To get one back for
0:54:26 > 0:54:33England! Just before half-time. The Liverpool striker, with his eighth
0:54:33 > 0:54:41goal of this Under 17 World Cup and hope is restored. What a cross this
0:54:41 > 0:54:46is, it looks like it was flat but he swings his cross into the six yard
0:54:46 > 0:54:51box area and who was there? Brewster. Excellent execution but
0:54:51 > 0:54:56what across this is. If anybody deserved this, for that sustained
0:54:56 > 0:55:01pressure, keeping their heads up... Excellent result, 2-1.Back in the
0:55:01 > 0:55:06game. Who did since they needed that before the break and they have got
0:55:06 > 0:55:14it. An instantly recognisable source. After his back-to-back
0:55:14 > 0:55:18hat-tricks, but here is Spain's captain and centre forward, able
0:55:18 > 0:55:25release. The man was needed to cover Latibeaudiere. This might come at
0:55:25 > 0:55:36the wrong time. Two minutes of stoppage time. Hudson-Odoi on the
0:55:36 > 0:55:53move. Nobody in the penalty area. Excellent defending by Guehi.
0:55:53 > 0:55:57Hudson-Odoi has had a storming ten minutes. And as soon as you said
0:55:57 > 0:56:01that, he looks at the surface and overheads the cross. The curse of
0:56:01 > 0:56:10the commentator! Excellent play, always confident, every time he gets
0:56:10 > 0:56:13the ball he looks confident that he can beat his man. Excellent play by
0:56:13 > 0:56:22Hudson-Odoi.He is not 17 until next month. He played for Chelsea under a
0:56:22 > 0:56:32plains at 15. -- under 18s. And he scored against Spain in that Euro
0:56:32 > 0:56:38Final in the summer, as did this man, Foden, England were 2-1 up
0:56:38 > 0:56:43until the sixth minute of stoppage time. And they are 2-1 down here in
0:56:43 > 0:56:48the first-half of stoppage time, in the World Cup final. Foden...
0:56:48 > 0:56:55Brewster. Always trying to break that half a yard to get the shot
0:56:55 > 0:57:04away. But Kraken, Foden, fouled by Guillemont and the first action of
0:57:04 > 0:57:09the first-half will be an England free kick.Bright play by Phil
0:57:09 > 0:57:15Foden, century he has come inside off the left-hand side, played that
0:57:15 > 0:57:25one, to buy McEachran. Dangerous position for England, this. -- one,
0:57:25 > 0:57:31two by McEachran. He is a little bit close to get that over the wall. It
0:57:31 > 0:57:35takes real ability to do that and not many players can.
0:57:38 > 0:57:45Might be one of those ones where you move it first to create the space.
0:57:45 > 0:57:54Not illegally, obviously!Obviously! Rain Brewster with those eight goals
0:57:54 > 0:58:04behind him in this tournament. Here he comes, Brewster! It needed that
0:58:04 > 0:58:16save from Fernandez.Excellent strike, difficult skill set to have.
0:58:16 > 0:58:23The half-time whistle. Sergio Gomez putting Spain in control. Familiar
0:58:23 > 0:58:31name in this tournament of Brewster. After Hudson-Odoi hit the woodwork,
0:58:31 > 0:58:36it has given England hope. At half-time in the World Cup final in
0:58:36 > 0:58:42Kolkata... It is England one, Spain two.
0:58:47 > 0:58:51What a busy first-half, starting with Paul, that goal from Brewster,
0:58:51 > 0:58:57how crucial was that, given the timing?Massive, a huge lift. They
0:58:57 > 0:59:00had the left before that with Hudson-Odoi hitting the post and
0:59:00 > 0:59:04then to get that chance, then they kept pushing forward with the free
0:59:04 > 0:59:09kick at the end so it has given them a huge lift into half-time and
0:59:09 > 0:59:14hopefully Steve Cooper can just get them on their feet, get them rested
0:59:14 > 0:59:18and relaxed, ready to go out and have another go to start the second
0:59:18 > 0:59:25half.Absolutely, blistering start. 58% possession for England but when
0:59:25 > 0:59:30you look at the stats, 14 attempts on goal, three on target, Spain are
0:59:30 > 0:59:36more direct, four attempts and four of them on target.Spain have played
0:59:36 > 0:59:39smarter, they have got the ball forward quicker than they are
0:59:39 > 0:59:43prepared to sit off and let England have possession and England have not
0:59:43 > 0:59:48really got behind the Spanish defence often. The other way around,
0:59:48 > 0:59:58Spain have been more clinical going forward. They are prepared to pass
0:59:58 > 1:00:01the ball in behind, having runners going behind and that has made the
1:00:01 > 1:00:03England defence have difficulties. England had a fast start but Spain
1:00:03 > 1:00:04scored in the
1:00:04 > 1:00:04England had a fast start but Spain scored in the tenth minute, Sergio
1:00:04 > 1:00:11Gomez with the goal?England are just half a yard off every single
1:00:11 > 1:00:17challenge, they don't quite get there and when the cross comes in, I
1:00:17 > 1:00:20mean, ultra-critical. But Sessegnon is possibly a little bit lax, he
1:00:20 > 1:00:26loses a little bit of concentration. Definitely onside. As Sessegnon is
1:00:26 > 1:00:33getting back, he loses focus. He puts his arm up for offside. Clearly
1:00:33 > 1:00:38onside. Great little touch from Gomez. England only a fraction of
1:00:38 > 1:00:43back the pace but when you play as a team against equality of Spain, that
1:00:43 > 1:00:48is all it takes.
1:00:48 > 1:00:52The second goal, Paul, an example of a slightly classier direct play from
1:00:52 > 1:00:59the Spanish. That is just clinical play. We have a really good run,
1:00:59 > 1:01:03Guehi from the back goes forward, he tries to slip the ball through,
1:01:03 > 1:01:07tries to play the ball through, really positive run, what you want a
1:01:07 > 1:01:11central defender to do to try to break the defence down. He tries to
1:01:11 > 1:01:15slip the ball through but good, strong defending and then it is a
1:01:15 > 1:01:19single pass forward, touch to the side, another pass goes forward and
1:01:19 > 1:01:23they have got runners in behind and then they are calm and they get
1:01:23 > 1:01:28their thoughts together, he gets the defenders stood up so he can beat
1:01:28 > 1:01:31him again and clipped the ball in and you think they have got away
1:01:31 > 1:01:34with it but it is a great little pull-back and a fantastic finish, a
1:01:34 > 1:01:38real quality finish but again, if we are going to be critical, if we want
1:01:38 > 1:01:43to try to improve, maybe we could have got tighter to that ball,
1:01:43 > 1:01:47there. It is Oakley-Boothe, I think, who could have got tighter and stop
1:01:47 > 1:01:50to the shotgun may be taken one in a face like their centre-half did
1:01:50 > 1:01:55earlier in the game but that is being ultra-critical. It is a top
1:01:55 > 1:01:56being ultra-critical. It is a top finish.Absolutely, and amicable we
1:01:56 > 1:02:00were talking about this when we were watching before, you were likening
1:02:00 > 1:02:06this kind of play to the Arsenal of old.It is direct football, three
1:02:06 > 1:02:09passes and they are in behind your defence and they are on the edge of
1:02:09 > 1:02:13your box. Direct does not mean hoofing it up the pitch and lumping
1:02:13 > 1:02:17it forward. You are breaking the lines, three very sharp passes,
1:02:17 > 1:02:20England caught out and it is the speed of play which is where Spain
1:02:20 > 1:02:26have been a bit more clinical and efficient.But there has been a
1:02:26 > 1:02:28lifeline from who else, Rhian Brewster,
1:02:28 > 1:02:30lifeline from who else, Rhian Brewster, the man of the moment.
1:02:30 > 1:02:33Successive hat-tricks in the quarterfinals and semifinals and on
1:02:33 > 1:02:37target here.It is the play before that as well, from Sessegnon,
1:02:37 > 1:02:40picking it up on the edge of the box, going one against one against
1:02:40 > 1:02:46the full-back Andy puts in an excellent cross. Like all good
1:02:46 > 1:02:49goal-scorers, Brewster is in and around where the ball is dropping
1:02:49 > 1:02:54and that is a good finish.He puts it into a great area. What I love
1:02:54 > 1:02:58about this, you see so many players in this day and age trying to whip
1:02:58 > 1:03:03the ball in with so much pace, it goes wrong more often than not but
1:03:03 > 1:03:07he puts it into an area. That is what I was taught as a
1:03:07 > 1:03:07he puts it into an area. That is what I was taught as a kid and I'm
1:03:07 > 1:03:11sure you were the same, Paul, put it into the second six yard box and the
1:03:11 > 1:03:15Centre forward should be there to nod it in and that is what happened.
1:03:15 > 1:03:17That has given England a lifeline because there was a spell in the
1:03:17 > 1:03:22second half when they looked a bit dejected.They looked nervous,
1:03:22 > 1:03:25didn't they? Like they were being overrun and not sure how to handle
1:03:25 > 1:03:30it.It's the World Cup final, whatever level, under 17, under 20,
1:03:30 > 1:03:33the senior side, it's not easy and they will still be feeling the
1:03:33 > 1:03:37pressure. This is unlike anything they've ever spirit before.
1:03:37 > 1:03:39Hudson-Odoi has been a real bright spark
1:03:39 > 1:03:42Hudson-Odoi has been a real bright spark in the first half, let's see
1:03:42 > 1:03:46some of his play and it almost ended in a goal. This is some of his
1:03:46 > 1:03:51earlier play. He's being positive and direct. He wants to go one
1:03:51 > 1:03:54against one. That was probably one of the best chances of the game,
1:03:54 > 1:03:57maybe could have got on the end of that but he is going at the
1:03:57 > 1:04:00defender, giving them a problem and the defender does not want a wide
1:04:00 > 1:04:05player running at him so he has got a lot of joy out of that, created a
1:04:05 > 1:04:10couple of chances and hit the post. When we are talking about these lads
1:04:10 > 1:04:15not coming up in this kind of situation before, he's 16, this lad,
1:04:15 > 1:04:19this is an incredible learning experience for him, brilliant
1:04:19 > 1:04:22experience and he will benefit from being a part of this.Absolutely,
1:04:22 > 1:04:23what will
1:04:23 > 1:04:26being a part of this.Absolutely, what will the half-time team talk be
1:04:26 > 1:04:30like?Try to keep nice and calm, try to get back to the game plan which
1:04:30 > 1:04:34is what they wanted to start with, and I think if they do that, I think
1:04:34 > 1:04:36they have got every chance of getting back into it because they
1:04:36 > 1:04:40have shown they've got the ability to cause problems.Absolutely,
1:04:40 > 1:04:45looking forward to the second half and we were talking before about
1:04:45 > 1:04:482017 being a real year of success for the England youth teams,
1:04:48 > 1:04:53including of course the win for poor's under 20s at the World Cup.
1:04:53 > 1:04:56We simply, Jermaine Jenas went to St George's Park to look at whether
1:04:56 > 1:05:00that success could one day translate to the senior side.
1:05:06 > 1:05:11I'm just here watching the England under 20s train with the coach,
1:05:11 > 1:05:16Keith Downing.We find the 20s is more a reserve group for the 21 's,
1:05:16 > 1:05:20a pathway. If they do well here, they will step up.So you can kind
1:05:20 > 1:05:23of look at those players you have seen what they have been able to do
1:05:23 > 1:05:26for England but obviously, they might not be playing at club level
1:05:26 > 1:05:31but would they keep on getting brought in to the group to be part
1:05:31 > 1:05:33of international level?Yeah, because internationally, they get
1:05:33 > 1:05:37the experience and the ultimate is to gain as much experience as they
1:05:37 > 1:05:40can so hopefully if they get to see your level, they will have
1:05:40 > 1:05:44experienced all of those things in the past, the tournament football,
1:05:44 > 1:05:47etc, playing against the best in Europe. The problem we have is
1:05:47 > 1:05:53obviously, then, playing in their first team.Correct. Just watching
1:05:53 > 1:05:56the U21 strain, a lot of whom won the under 20 World Cup in the
1:05:56 > 1:06:00summer. I suppose the feeling is that St George's Park is giving them
1:06:00 > 1:06:05that Bob Friel, helped by the transition from the U21 level to the
1:06:05 > 1:06:13first team.My role is the U21 coach, it is to get out and watch
1:06:13 > 1:06:15players, develop relationships with clubs and make sure we can get the
1:06:15 > 1:06:19best players to start with and make sure that by the time they get to
1:06:19 > 1:06:22Gareth, they have had the whole array of experiences and been in
1:06:22 > 1:06:26penalty shoot outs, winning and losing them. You mentioned you go
1:06:26 > 1:06:31out to watch a lot of the players. How far does the relationship go? Do
1:06:31 > 1:06:35you talk on the phone, give them feedback on how well they are doing
1:06:35 > 1:06:39at their clubs? It is a difficult one, that, because I think when you
1:06:39 > 1:06:43are a manager or a coach at the club, you want to work with that
1:06:43 > 1:06:46player every day and you have your own ideas about how he should play
1:06:46 > 1:06:49what they should do and when they come to international, it's about
1:06:49 > 1:06:52adding to what they've got already. I certainly won't be telling any of
1:06:52 > 1:06:56the players how they should be playing if it is going against their
1:06:56 > 1:06:59coaches at their clubs. But as long as there is honest and open dialogue
1:06:59 > 1:07:03and we have got that, then we don't have any issues. But the thorny
1:07:03 > 1:07:06issues surrounding England youth teams is how much opportunity the
1:07:06 > 1:07:09players will get their clubs, particularly those in the Premier
1:07:09 > 1:07:14League.It used to be, where, for example at Nottingham Forest when
1:07:14 > 1:07:16you first going through W did well in the youth team and got England
1:07:16 > 1:07:20recognition but then you went into the at Forest and then you got your
1:07:20 > 1:07:24moves and became a Brazilian and everything else. These days, what
1:07:24 > 1:07:27happens is, some players get to a certain level and a ceiling in the
1:07:27 > 1:07:30development and they can't get through, with foreign owners, you
1:07:30 > 1:07:34get foreign managers and foreign players and some of those players
1:07:34 > 1:07:38are not anywhere near what is already in the system. So it is a
1:07:38 > 1:07:43problem?Yeah, it is.It is a genuine issue we are struggling
1:07:43 > 1:07:47with?Yeah, it works both ways, Nathaniel Chalobah has 97 use caps,
1:07:47 > 1:07:50it's a record, some brilliant experiences but he's been on loan to
1:07:50 > 1:07:54five different clubs and he was not quite ready to go into the Chelsea
1:07:54 > 1:07:58first-team so I think in his case, we have kept him going I think. But
1:07:58 > 1:08:01another one might be Harry Kane who was with us through the ages but
1:08:01 > 1:08:05also had a lot of loan spells, came back, finally got his opportunity
1:08:05 > 1:08:10and look at him now, he's doing fantastic.Harry Kane scores his
1:08:10 > 1:08:1612th goal in the month of September for club country.I think when you
1:08:16 > 1:08:20are a young player coming through, to go out and play in the stadiums,
1:08:20 > 1:08:23play against teams who are fighting relegation, fighting for play-offs
1:08:23 > 1:08:26come you know, it gives you a great understanding of what the game is
1:08:26 > 1:08:29about and it's important to be playing, there's no better thing
1:08:29 > 1:08:32than to be playing and getting yourself out there, get the scouts
1:08:32 > 1:08:35watching you and managers, for me it was a good stepping stone and I
1:08:35 > 1:08:40learned a lot from it.Harry Kane is a prime example of how use product
1:08:40 > 1:08:43can do well and reach the senior team. It goes without saying that
1:08:43 > 1:08:47most of these youngsters need the first-team experience. Danny, how
1:08:47 > 1:08:51can we get more of these players who are getting this type of experience
1:08:51 > 1:08:55at international level playing in the Premier League? It is really
1:08:55 > 1:08:57difficult, as Jermaine Jenas was saying, foreign owners, the amount
1:08:57 > 1:09:02of money available in the Premier League, the short tenure of a
1:09:02 > 1:09:06manager's job these days, it is what? A year? Maybe less at times
1:09:06 > 1:09:09and they want instant success and they are not prepared to give young
1:09:09 > 1:09:12players a chance, even when you drop down into the Championship, these
1:09:12 > 1:09:15really good technical players coming through, the Championship is cut and
1:09:15 > 1:09:20thrust. It is brutal at times. A lot of maybe older managers won't trust
1:09:20 > 1:09:25younger players because they have inconsistencies. When you look at
1:09:25 > 1:09:31Europe, Holland and Spain and those kind of places, Belgium, they play a
1:09:31 > 1:09:36more technical game in their senior leagues, so they don't need to be as
1:09:36 > 1:09:39physical, they can be trusted with their technical ability whereas
1:09:39 > 1:09:43maybe you cannot trust players in the Championship. I think we are
1:09:43 > 1:09:46starting to see it but players have to go on loan but maybe they now
1:09:46 > 1:09:49have to start going abroad to play at clubs as well where they don't
1:09:49 > 1:09:54need quite the physicality. With the likes of Jadon Sancho, who was
1:09:54 > 1:09:57playing in the tournament, a bright spot in the group stages and he has
1:09:57 > 1:10:02been recalled to Borussia Dortmund. Full, taking a look at you under 20
1:10:02 > 1:10:05players, it has been a bit of a mixed bag in terms of
1:10:05 > 1:10:05players, it has been a bit of a mixed bag in terms of their fortunes
1:10:05 > 1:10:10since then. Dominic Solanke, the player of the tournament, still
1:10:10 > 1:10:13waiting for his Liverpool opportunity, Walker-Peters got his
1:10:13 > 1:10:17Premier League start at the start of the season, Man of the Match against
1:10:17 > 1:10:21Newcastle for Spurs and yet has not had a look in. Dominic Calvert-Lewin
1:10:21 > 1:10:26scored in your final and did really well. It is a mixed bag.It is,
1:10:26 > 1:10:28after you are getting opportunities but we want
1:10:28 > 1:10:31after you are getting opportunities but we want more. It is 32% I think
1:10:31 > 1:10:35of English qualified players have been in the Premier League so far
1:10:35 > 1:10:40this season and we want more than that, we need to get them in. It is
1:10:40 > 1:10:44not us as an FA wanting to bang the drum, we need the whole game to want
1:10:44 > 1:10:47it to happen. We need the Premier League and the Football League and
1:10:47 > 1:10:50everybody to really join forces and keep working together and get more
1:10:50 > 1:10:55English -based players in there because it will benefit the national
1:10:55 > 1:10:58team. Obviously, the clubs themselves have their own things to
1:10:58 > 1:11:01worry about but as a national organisation, we have all got to
1:11:01 > 1:11:05work together so we can try and get more English players.I think the
1:11:05 > 1:11:08players have got to take responsibility as well. We are
1:11:08 > 1:11:12starting to see it now, players that Chelsea are complaining about lack
1:11:12 > 1:11:15of opportunities and stepping down. When you look at the Ajax team that
1:11:15 > 1:11:18played Manchester United in the rebel league final, 17-year-olds in
1:11:18 > 1:11:24that team that have played 65, 70 games for their club side. And in
1:11:24 > 1:11:28European competition. This is what England, maybe the English players
1:11:28 > 1:11:32have to do, they have to say they are not going to make it at Chelsea
1:11:32 > 1:11:34or Manchester City immediately, take a couple of steps back and then come
1:11:34 > 1:11:40forward later. That takes a lot of bravery and it's not easy to do.It
1:11:40 > 1:11:42is bravery, coming out of your comfort zone because it is nice that
1:11:42 > 1:11:46these clubs. They have fantastic facilities and the Premier League
1:11:46 > 1:11:51academies are doing some great work with players. What we have got to
1:11:51 > 1:11:55try to do is make sure that the players see the opportunity
1:11:55 > 1:11:59somewhere, whether it is on loan or permanent, whether they get the
1:11:59 > 1:12:03opportunity at their own club, and keep on working towards it. We are
1:12:03 > 1:12:07five years into building St George's Park, this month is the five-year
1:12:07 > 1:12:10anniversary so it is a work in progress to try to get these players
1:12:10 > 1:12:15through. The 20s that won the World Cup is the first cohort to come out
1:12:15 > 1:12:20of the full St George's Park system. It has taken us five years to get an
1:12:20 > 1:12:24under 20 win and maybe we might need to wait a few more years to get the
1:12:24 > 1:12:2821s or the seniors but the signs are there that St George's Park and the
1:12:28 > 1:12:32investment from the FA is working. We have just got to keep wishing and
1:12:32 > 1:12:36hoping the players get in. Absolutely because when you look at
1:12:36 > 1:12:41Spain, for example, they launched a similar facility to St George's Park
1:12:41 > 1:12:44back in... I've forgotten what it was about seven years before they
1:12:44 > 1:12:48won the World Cup, five years before they won the Euros, so 2003, say, so
1:12:48 > 1:12:53it takes time to build.Without doubt. But the problem is we are
1:12:53 > 1:12:57talking about another generation. If we are talking about the players,
1:12:57 > 1:13:01the under 19 and under 20s right now, will they get the chance to
1:13:01 > 1:13:06move into the senior teams that we are talking about? To win a World
1:13:06 > 1:13:08Cup at senior level, the average age
1:13:08 > 1:13:10Cup at senior level, the average age is probably 27 or 28 because you
1:13:10 > 1:13:13need the experience.
1:13:14 > 1:13:17For these players, it is a great platform and opportunity now, they
1:13:17 > 1:13:20have to make the most of it now and then look at their club careers and
1:13:20 > 1:13:24future of the back of this.OK, as you can see, the players are back on
1:13:24 > 1:13:28the pitch for the second half which is about to get underway. Let 's go
1:13:28 > 1:13:35back to the commentators, Trevor and Steve Bower. -- Trevor Sinclair.
1:13:35 > 1:13:39COMMENTATOR: 45 minutes left of the journey that began in October for
1:13:39 > 1:13:48England. Can it be a memorable 45 minutes? -- at the beginning of the
1:13:48 > 1:13:53month for England. Spain with a one goal advantage, looking for the Euro
1:13:53 > 1:13:59and World Cup double in the same year. To get us under way in the
1:13:59 > 1:14:04second half, neither coach has made a change at half-time. What might
1:14:04 > 1:14:11have been Steve Cooper's message at the break, Trevor?Keep on doing
1:14:11 > 1:14:16what you're doing. I think they have been, individually, I think there
1:14:16 > 1:14:21have been some very key performances out there and you talk about winning
1:14:21 > 1:14:24your individual battles, I feel England have done that in many
1:14:24 > 1:14:27positions. It is just the effectiveness in both boxes, Spain
1:14:27 > 1:14:31have been more clinical. Obviously, the two goals by Sergio Gomez have
1:14:31 > 1:14:37been very, very good. We have not quite had the finishing touch and
1:14:37 > 1:14:41the composure in the final third. I think if we can improve that, stay
1:14:41 > 1:14:45patient and continue to win the individual battles, I think there is
1:14:45 > 1:14:50definitely a result for England. Gomez, who got Spain's goals, to
1:14:50 > 1:14:55take the corner, punched clear by Curtis Anderson. Helped out of play
1:14:55 > 1:15:05by Oakley-Boothe. Mauricio Pochettino took him on Spurs
1:15:05 > 1:15:10pre-season tour this year. The Spanish manager looking to make
1:15:10 > 1:15:14personal history, no team have won the European Championships and the
1:15:14 > 1:15:17World Cup at under 17 level in the same year before. Spain are excited
1:15:17 > 1:15:21about this group of players, just as England are about theirs.
1:15:28 > 1:15:37Overhit by Sergio Gomez.I think if the first half was anything to go
1:15:37 > 1:15:41by, Spain will be happy at certain stages to give up possession and
1:15:41 > 1:15:46then I think it will be very important that the back four, five,
1:15:46 > 1:15:49six, whatever, stay concentrated. Just stay alert for any
1:15:49 > 1:15:53counterattacking football. If they do that and stay on the front foot,
1:15:53 > 1:15:57sharpen up their passing a bit with tempo, and not being impatient, I
1:15:57 > 1:16:01really do feel they have got the players on the pitch to get a result
1:16:01 > 1:16:08in turn this around. -- and turn this around.New territory for
1:16:08 > 1:16:11England but not Spain, it is therefore final in the under 17
1:16:11 > 1:16:15World Cup but they have lost all three previous appearances.
1:16:21 > 1:16:29This is the first all European affair. For the under 17 World Cup
1:16:29 > 1:16:35final. Hudson-Odoi penalised. Excellent first half performance
1:16:35 > 1:16:39from Hudson-Odoi, hit the post, was key in certain situations, getting
1:16:39 > 1:16:44to the byline, getting in the final third. Just mixing it up a little
1:16:44 > 1:16:48bit. They will expect you to run with it now so play a couple of one
1:16:48 > 1:16:54and two touch passes.Given away, Foden towards Brewster early.
1:16:58 > 1:17:04Spain, relieved. Now they can try and build with Miranda.
1:17:18 > 1:17:23Half-time came at a good time for Spain, really, after the England
1:17:23 > 1:17:26goal.Yeah, it looked like they'd got the bit between their teeth with
1:17:26 > 1:17:30the goal, full of confidence, not self belief amongst the players they
1:17:30 > 1:17:34could get back in this game and nothing has to change, for me. You
1:17:34 > 1:17:38know, they finished the half really well, let's start this one as we
1:17:38 > 1:17:41finished, that should have been a message coming from Steve Cooper.
1:17:41 > 1:17:47I'm sure the players believe they have got that in their performance.
1:17:47 > 1:17:50Just here, now, I would like to see this bouncing a little bit, just
1:17:50 > 1:17:54bouncing it around a little bit sharper, try to develop gaps in the
1:17:54 > 1:18:02Spanish back eight, nine players. Sharper tempo of passing.
1:18:17 > 1:18:23Gibbs White with an opportunity. Great steak with his first touch on
1:18:23 > 1:18:27his right foot, bringing it across onto his left foot, probably his
1:18:27 > 1:18:32weaker side, let's back a bit but good movement, breaking that line,
1:18:32 > 1:18:34fantastic first time such a manipulating the ball and just
1:18:34 > 1:18:40leaned back. He needs to work the keeper. The youngest by to play for
1:18:40 > 1:18:46the Wolves first team since Robbie Keane. 12 appearances. He's been at
1:18:46 > 1:18:56the club since the age of eight. Latibeaudiere read that situation.
1:18:56 > 1:19:00Great anticipation from the central defender. Anticipating that first
1:19:00 > 1:19:13touch. Making the ball and winning the foul for his team.Cesar of Real
1:19:13 > 1:19:16Madrid.Clashing knees, I think that is what the Spanish buyers are
1:19:16 > 1:19:20moaning about, no intention, good, strong, physical challenge from the
1:19:20 > 1:19:24Manchester City central defender. He felt it!
1:19:27 > 1:19:31I think fitness could come into it as well and it looks like England
1:19:31 > 1:19:38have got a very strong side physically. They look a fit bunch.
1:19:38 > 1:19:43Interesting to see in this heat if the players can sustain that, who
1:19:43 > 1:19:46can start taking control in the latter stages of the game.Sergio
1:19:46 > 1:19:53Gomez, the man with both goals for Spain. That one from Rhian Brewster,
1:19:53 > 1:19:58eighth of the tournament. Put England right back in the World Cup
1:19:58 > 1:20:00final.
1:20:06 > 1:20:10That Golden Boot award will mean nothing unless it is alongside a
1:20:10 > 1:20:18winning medal.Yeah, he is a very selfless player, talks about the
1:20:18 > 1:20:26team and working out of position for the team all the time.Foden. Up
1:20:26 > 1:20:35against Sergio Gomez. Still Foden! The goalkeeper was rooted to the
1:20:35 > 1:20:39spot, there.Excellent mastery of the ball, there, great disguise.
1:20:39 > 1:20:44Deflection, should be a corner. He knows how to make half a yard for
1:20:44 > 1:20:50himself.You can see why Pep Guardiola instantly to give him.
1:20:50 > 1:21:00Bowden. An opportunity for England. Important block in the end. Now the
1:21:00 > 1:21:03captain -- by the captain, Abel Ruiz.
1:21:06 > 1:21:18Out by Ferran Torres. Still Becky Grundy. -- still McEachran.Great
1:21:18 > 1:21:22work, realising he's got a man on him, realising he's got the speed to
1:21:22 > 1:21:27go past the winger, just getting the corner for his team. Excellent use
1:21:27 > 1:21:39of his body. Both central defenders forward. Punched away by Alvaro
1:21:39 > 1:21:46Fernandez in the Spain goal. This is where England have to make sure they
1:21:46 > 1:21:51are not caught. Good strength from Panzo.Better urgency and awareness
1:21:51 > 1:21:54from England on the counterattack, that is where they got caught out in
1:21:54 > 1:21:58the first half-time and again. It looks like on the transition, now,
1:21:58 > 1:22:01Steve Cooper has had time to talk to the player that half-time and make
1:22:01 > 1:22:04sure they are switched on to that scenario. A lot better from England,
1:22:04 > 1:22:14there.Will they keep this in? No, just fractionally overhit by Foden,
1:22:14 > 1:22:20who is frustrated it was too strong for Sessegnon. That is not like him.
1:22:20 > 1:22:23Again, good movement by Sessegnon, covering a lot of distance at right
1:22:23 > 1:22:28back, overlapping, always an option for Foden, which makes him look a
1:22:28 > 1:22:30better player.
1:22:38 > 1:22:44Neatly done by Victor, the Spanish central defender, another one of the
1:22:44 > 1:22:53Real Madrid group.Just a little bit of frustration therefrom Brewster.
1:22:53 > 1:22:56They had a pretty committed press and Spain managed to retain
1:22:56 > 1:22:59possession. They've not really gone anywhere but you can see how
1:22:59 > 1:23:02comfortable the Spanish back line are with the ball at their feet,
1:23:02 > 1:23:09making little angle for each other, almost like foot cell -- almost like
1:23:09 > 1:23:17futsal, manipulating the ball, but one back by England briefly.
1:23:19 > 1:23:23Foden, again, just a fraction too strong from the Manchester City
1:23:23 > 1:23:26play.Guillamon read the scenario, got his body in the way and ushered
1:23:26 > 1:23:34the ball out, excellent defending from Spain. On a knife edge, this
1:23:34 > 1:23:37game, you know, the next goal is very important. If it goes to
1:23:37 > 1:23:46England, they go on to win this game, I think.Santiago ten two, six
1:23:46 > 1:23:52years the under 17 coach for Spain, a double winner with Atletico Madrid
1:23:52 > 1:24:01in his playing days. -- Santiago Denia. They look to have continuity
1:24:01 > 1:24:05in their age group development, Spain. It makes a big difference for
1:24:05 > 1:24:07players, taking the same instructions from the same person,
1:24:07 > 1:24:12keeping the continuity, familiar faces. -- taking instructions from
1:24:12 > 1:24:16the same person. It's a good way to learn. As it stands, the proof will
1:24:16 > 1:24:21be in the pudding if they win the Euros and the World Cup in this age
1:24:21 > 1:24:29group in the same calendar year. England, remember, trying to win the
1:24:29 > 1:24:34World Cup at under 20 and under 17 level. Only one team has ever done
1:24:34 > 1:24:42that in the same year and that was Brazil. That was in 2003, where,
1:24:42 > 1:24:47ironically, in the final, they beat Spain. That is how much of an
1:24:47 > 1:24:55achievement it would be and it is still finely poised, as Trevor says.
1:24:55 > 1:25:00Fouled by McEachran.
1:25:04 > 1:25:08I thought he stood in a weather free kick. No, they try to play the quick
1:25:08 > 1:25:12one but fair play to the referee, you know, allowing that to continue
1:25:12 > 1:25:16as it was. Good play from the goalkeeper, there are reading the
1:25:16 > 1:25:20situation, good starting position. Looking at goalkeepers in the modern
1:25:20 > 1:25:23game, they have to play with their feet a lot done was right on his
1:25:23 > 1:25:28toes, switched on, nice and bright, dealt with the situation. -- with
1:25:28 > 1:25:31their feet a lot, and he was right on his toes.
1:25:43 > 1:25:49Hudson-Odoi, cutting inside again. Oakley-Boothe. Foden. So many
1:25:49 > 1:25:52Spanish bodies back there.
1:25:56 > 1:26:04Foden wants more. Beautifully weighted pass and is Gibbs-White!
1:26:04 > 1:26:10And varied England's equaliser and this is game on in the World Cup
1:26:10 > 1:26:19final. They have gone from 2-0 down, to level it up at 2-2.Absolutely
1:26:19 > 1:26:22well-deserved from this England side, they have kept strong, stable
1:26:22 > 1:26:25living in the same philosophy, get moving the ball around and what a
1:26:25 > 1:26:29disguised pass from Phil Foden. Again, that overlap, we've seen it
1:26:29 > 1:26:32so often in this tournament by Sessegnon, fantastic cross into the
1:26:32 > 1:26:37six yard box and he does not miss. What a strike and there was more to
1:26:37 > 1:26:42do on that than you think, bobbling ball, absolutely brilliant finish by
1:26:42 > 1:26:46Gibbs-White, 2-2, England back in this game and I believe they have
1:26:46 > 1:26:54got the momentum now to go on and win this game.Well, Gibbs-White,
1:26:54 > 1:26:59who scored in the quarterfinals against the USA, scores in the
1:26:59 > 1:27:07final, and what a show of character from the Young Lions. Santiago Denia
1:27:07 > 1:27:13has seen his side's 2-0 lead wiped out. The Wolves midfielder with
1:27:13 > 1:27:21England's second. A fascinating 32 minutes or so ahead now.Yeah,
1:27:21 > 1:27:25England have started the second half how they finished the first, on the
1:27:25 > 1:27:29front foot, overlaps coming from both left-back and right back,
1:27:29 > 1:27:32giving the player on the ball options, they looked really creative
1:27:32 > 1:27:36in that final third but this time, the product has been a lot better,
1:27:36 > 1:27:41more clinical with the finishing. Doris, for Spain. Could not get past
1:27:41 > 1:27:48my leave. And they have looked a lot more alert in like that.-- Torres,
1:27:48 > 1:27:53for Spain, could not get past Guehi. More concentration for the backline
1:27:53 > 1:27:57because England have so much more concentration, they have to stay
1:27:57 > 1:28:00switched on, communicating to each other, looking for the danger and on
1:28:00 > 1:28:07the transition, dealing with it nice and early.Concentration time, now.
1:28:07 > 1:28:11Having just scored. Sergio Gomez with the caller and the header,
1:28:11 > 1:28:20brilliantly kept out by Anderson. Miranda got his head to it.Great
1:28:20 > 1:28:25ball in by Gomez and listen, this is not a surprise, not the first time
1:28:25 > 1:28:28it has happened, and England have got to be more aware of that,
1:28:28 > 1:28:32playing that interlinear post, they need to get a man stood in that area
1:28:32 > 1:28:35to attack it and then track the runners. The warning signs are
1:28:35 > 1:28:41there. Good stop, good body position from the goalkeeper, Anderson, quite
1:28:41 > 1:28:45comfortable in the end but it could have been much more dangerous.
1:28:57 > 1:29:02Good bad one.Panzo. We've had a few of those ideas. Almost away, the
1:29:02 > 1:29:08pass was looking for Hudson-Odoi but cut out by James Magut.Great
1:29:08 > 1:29:11position by the defender, getting his distances right, not too
1:29:11 > 1:29:17squeezed in century and not too far wide, able to deal with the pass.--
1:29:17 > 1:29:25cut out by Jaume.A bit of frustration from Moha, you can see
1:29:25 > 1:29:31that England have clawed their way back into the game, let's see how
1:29:31 > 1:29:35you can deal with the strength and spirit of this team.
1:29:40 > 1:29:44Gibbs-White is frustrated because he has been pulled back, having got
1:29:44 > 1:29:46away from his man.
1:29:53 > 1:29:56Hudson-Odoi.
1:29:57 > 1:30:06Foden. Oh, he took it first time, kept out by Fernando at his near
1:30:06 > 1:30:13post.Yeah, great timing from Foden. I think respect given to Hudson-Odoi
1:30:13 > 1:30:18with his running ability with the ball at his feet.McEachran with the
1:30:18 > 1:30:21delivery, Guehi and Panzo going for the same ball.
1:30:31 > 1:30:44Long from Victor. Torres cannot keep it in. We can have a word with Paul
1:30:44 > 1:30:48Simpson, the U21 manager. What a response from this young England
1:30:48 > 1:30:54team?Fantastic, could not have asked Tramore, great start to the
1:30:54 > 1:30:59second half and like we were talking about in the first-half, the England
1:30:59 > 1:31:04players looking jaded, we have the Spanish players now looking lady
1:31:04 > 1:31:06because we have knocked the stuffing out of them with that goal. Really
1:31:06 > 1:31:14well worked. Putting Sessegnon in behind from Phil Foden and that was
1:31:14 > 1:31:20equality cross. We have talked in the first-half about getting in
1:31:20 > 1:31:24behind the Spanish back four and that is exactly what we have done.
1:31:24 > 1:31:28We thoroughly deserved to get back into it. They need to keep sticking
1:31:28 > 1:31:31to the things they are doing and hopefully they will get more
1:31:31 > 1:31:35opportunities.There is a sign of Spanish frustration, the first
1:31:35 > 1:31:42yellow card. Miranda of Barcelona. He joined three years ago from Real
1:31:42 > 1:31:52Betis. Torres. Looking for Sergio Gomez.Well watched by Sessegnon.
1:31:52 > 1:31:57Good position from Sessegnon, making sure he gets himself nice and
1:31:57 > 1:32:00narrow, difficult to beat on the far post. He is a danger man, Sergio
1:32:00 > 1:32:07Gomez. It looks like he has got real quality in the final third, lies
1:32:07 > 1:32:11composure. He is the boss when the ball is at his feet and England have
1:32:11 > 1:32:13to be aware of him.
1:32:24 > 1:32:27No problems for Curtis Anderson.
1:32:35 > 1:32:41Originally from Barrow in Cumbria. Plenty of proud people have given
1:32:41 > 1:32:48their support to his career, watching this final. As for all of
1:32:48 > 1:32:53these teenagers. Here is Gibbs-White. Trying to get it wide
1:32:53 > 1:32:59to Hudson-Odoi.The promising thing is Gibbs-White is winning the second
1:32:59 > 1:33:03balls and the balls from No Man's Land, he is getting there first. The
1:33:03 > 1:33:07quality was not there with the pass but he is winning those balls in the
1:33:07 > 1:33:17middle of the park.2-2, the Under 17 is in the World Cup final, in the
1:33:17 > 1:33:25year when the U21 Wally Toulon tournament. And under 19 1 euro and
1:33:25 > 1:33:31the U21 got to the semifinals of the orders. All to play for in Kolkata.
1:33:31 > 1:33:40Hudson-Odoi. Onto his right.Good, positive play, he fancied that as
1:33:40 > 1:33:48soon as it was coming to him. Against Jaume, he cannot do with his
1:33:48 > 1:33:52pace. I would like to see that little one, two, bouncing off
1:33:52 > 1:33:58Brewster. Just a little bit predictable, with that shot, and did
1:33:58 > 1:34:03not have enough power to beat the keeper.Reeling off that incredible
1:34:03 > 1:34:10year for the development squad. It is a fifth anniversary of St
1:34:10 > 1:34:15George's Park, how significant is that?Very important. Talking to
1:34:15 > 1:34:19Paul about the players and at times, five or six different teams being
1:34:19 > 1:34:25there together.
1:34:32 > 1:34:38Panzo using his strength. Nothing in that. Great body awareness. Back to
1:34:38 > 1:34:42St George's Park, when you have five or six teams together, it is a
1:34:42 > 1:34:47breaded experience, it shows that direct pathway from 15 all the way
1:34:47 > 1:34:52through to the first team and it has played its part that are part in the
1:34:52 > 1:34:56success. Some ill discipline from Santiago, just a little bit
1:34:56 > 1:35:04frustrated with his team. They lost that 2-goal lead. I feel like St
1:35:04 > 1:35:09George's Park is playing by huge part in the success of the England
1:35:09 > 1:35:15young sides and long may it continue.24 minutes to go to save
1:35:15 > 1:35:23England Under 17s and add a World Cup win to the England Under 20s in
1:35:23 > 1:35:28the same calendar year. Encase you are joining us, on the Saturday
1:35:28 > 1:35:35afternoon, England where 2-0 down within half an hour but they fought
1:35:35 > 1:35:41back tremendously. Jaume. Torres.
1:35:47 > 1:35:55Great defending by Panzo. Looking to slow him down. Delay Ferrin on the
1:35:55 > 1:36:05ball. He stayed on his feet and that is really disciplined. The touch
1:36:05 > 1:36:15from Gomez, off Panzo. Spain corner. Panzo is looking out on his feet,
1:36:15 > 1:36:19really tired, maybe Steve will start thinking about a substitution to
1:36:19 > 1:36:22give more energy down the left-hand side for England.
1:36:28 > 1:36:34Sergio Gomez with the delivery. The goalkeeper backpedalled, that was
1:36:34 > 1:36:41good defending.Gibbs-White. Mixing it up, Gomez from set pieces, the
1:36:41 > 1:36:46near post a couple of times and not making things too predictable, going
1:36:46 > 1:36:58for the far post and winning another corner.Another good block, this
1:36:58 > 1:37:07time by Guehi and blocked by Foden. You can see with the heat, the tempo
1:37:07 > 1:37:14has slowed down. You have to be effective with the ball, keep
1:37:14 > 1:37:21possession and make the opposition work. With 20 minutes to go, that
1:37:21 > 1:37:25teenager -- no teenager will want to make an error and cost his team the
1:37:25 > 1:37:29World Cup.There is a fear factor but you stick to the game plan plan
1:37:29 > 1:37:39and do the simple things very good, which both sides have done.
1:37:39 > 1:37:46McEachran winning it back for England. Hudson-Odoi. Still plenty
1:37:46 > 1:37:53in his attack. He can get it across to Foden! England in front for the
1:37:53 > 1:38:00first time in the final! Manchester City's Phil Foden. From two down,
1:38:00 > 1:38:09they lead 3-2.What a brilliant ball into the box. He has been an
1:38:09 > 1:38:13absolute hero for England down the right-hand side, cutting on his left
1:38:13 > 1:38:17foot. Again, we thought this area was part of the game plan for
1:38:17 > 1:38:22England. With the legs down those wide areas and what a pass. Simple
1:38:22 > 1:38:27finish, bubbling, great technique with his right foot and he deserved
1:38:27 > 1:38:33this. England have stuck to the task, the principles, no long ball
1:38:33 > 1:38:38football. Playing through the lines and what a finish. Still a bit to do
1:38:38 > 1:38:45from Phil Foden and he does it well. Look at that celebration! They will
1:38:45 > 1:38:49be off their feet at Manchester City and in Stockport, where he is from.
1:38:49 > 1:38:53He has followed up his goal against Mexico in this tournament and a
1:38:53 > 1:39:00Steve Cooper's team, two down inside 30 minutes, leading 3-2 in the
1:39:00 > 1:39:04final.Brilliant personality these players have shown, 2-0 down against
1:39:04 > 1:39:09a very strong European champion team, Spain, and they have found it
1:39:09 > 1:39:14within themselves to drag themselves back, getting the goal just before
1:39:14 > 1:39:16half-time and cracking on in the second-half. Exceptional
1:39:16 > 1:39:25performance, concentration is needed now.Spain have 20 minutes to
1:39:25 > 1:39:33salvage it. Latibeaudiere chasing this one with Moorland, happy to see
1:39:33 > 1:39:44that going out of play. -- with Miranda. The inevitable changes for
1:39:44 > 1:39:52Spain, Lara is going to come on from Sevilla. He is replacing Cesar from
1:39:52 > 1:40:01Real Madrid.
1:40:06 > 1:40:19The first change from Santiago Denia as he tries to change the scoreline.
1:40:24 > 1:40:29That looked a long way off back after 30 minutes. It did but you
1:40:29 > 1:40:33look at the possession England were showing and their performance in the
1:40:33 > 1:40:35semifinal against Brazil and the belief was there, even though they
1:40:35 > 1:40:44had gone 2-0 down and that has been proven right. A lot of hard work. A
1:40:44 > 1:40:46lot of disciplined defending. But certainly a lot of belief and
1:40:46 > 1:40:54quality.Panzo felt that might have gone on of play from Torres. Sergio
1:40:54 > 1:41:07Gomez. Ferran Torres to cross for Spain. It is Miranda!Spain corner.
1:41:07 > 1:41:12Panzo needed to stay pushed in for the second phase of that attack.
1:41:12 > 1:41:16Letting him cross that into the box is always dangerous and on a rare
1:41:16 > 1:41:20occasion, Phil Foden does not check his shoulder and gets dispossessed
1:41:20 > 1:41:24but the shot is closed down with good defending.Five goals already
1:41:24 > 1:41:30in what has been an open final. Still 17.5 minutes to go. Spain
1:41:30 > 1:41:34corner. The goalkeeper did not get there. Latibeaudiere got the first
1:41:34 > 1:41:39header in and that was off the line by Sessegnon! Spain appealing, they
1:41:39 > 1:41:46thought they had equalised. But Steve Sessegnon, with a clearance to
1:41:46 > 1:41:54keep it at 3-2.I am not sure where Curtis was going, there was a
1:41:54 > 1:41:58handball just before the goal-line clearance but great play on the line
1:41:58 > 1:42:03by Steve Sessegnon. Good composure. Making sure he gets both feet behind
1:42:03 > 1:42:09the ball and clears it. Curtis Anderson has to be careful, if he is
1:42:09 > 1:42:12coming from those crosses he needs to make them his. That was painful
1:42:12 > 1:42:17for Foden.England free kick. That is what usually happens with the
1:42:17 > 1:42:22best player in the park, if you cannot stop him one way, kick him.
1:42:22 > 1:42:28Is that why you never got kicked? LAUGHTER
1:42:28 > 1:42:38Latibeaudiere. This is far from finished. Hudson-Odoi. His pace is
1:42:38 > 1:42:43again a problem, brilliant from Hudson-Odoi. He was trying to guide
1:42:43 > 1:42:49that into Brewster.Victor in the way. Jaume is having nightmares
1:42:49 > 1:42:52about Hudson-Odoi, he cannot handle his physicality and explosive pace
1:42:52 > 1:42:58and he needs help on the right-hand side. Hudson-Odoi, great ability to
1:42:58 > 1:43:04keep repeating these sprints, fantastic fitness levels.Short to
1:43:04 > 1:43:13McEachran. Latibeaudiere jumping at the back post. Foden. Cleared by
1:43:13 > 1:43:23Miranda. Lovely linkup between Foden and Gibbs-White. That has broken for
1:43:23 > 1:43:29Gibbs-White again. What a reverse pass to Foden!Street at Fernandez.
1:43:29 > 1:43:36Great interaction between those two players. Foden showing great
1:43:36 > 1:43:39disguise on his passing. A little bit weak on the final product once
1:43:39 > 1:43:44again but I think if the penny drops, he will be clinical in the
1:43:44 > 1:43:48final third and you will have some player on your hands.Phil Foden,
1:43:48 > 1:43:52injured in Croatia in the final of the Euros, scored against Spain in
1:43:52 > 1:43:56what he thought was the winning goal, until that equaliser six
1:43:56 > 1:44:01minutes into stoppage time for Spain forcing penalties. He has done the
1:44:01 > 1:44:08same here, England in front but here comes Ferran Torres.Panzo with the
1:44:08 > 1:44:13recovery. I think Panzo at left-back for England is really on his last
1:44:13 > 1:44:20legs. He looks like he is really struggling. To move about the pitch.
1:44:20 > 1:44:28I think Steve has got to look at maybe changing him. If not, it could
1:44:28 > 1:44:42cost him.Sessegnon with the substitute, Lara.A few darker arts
1:44:42 > 1:44:47are coming out from the Spanish players, lingering tackles, stuff
1:44:47 > 1:44:51off the ball. The biggest game of their lives and the biggest crowd of
1:44:51 > 1:44:55their lives. It really has captured the imagination in India, this
1:44:55 > 1:45:03tournament. As we have our second-half cooling break. Plenty
1:45:03 > 1:45:11for Spain to think about. The boys will be feeling that fatigue. They
1:45:11 > 1:45:17will be glad for this rest, to get rehydrated, a bit of a team talk
1:45:17 > 1:45:22with Steve Cooper. He will probably ask the players, especially Jonathan
1:45:22 > 1:45:27Panzo, how he is feeling. But really, both sets of players have
1:45:27 > 1:45:32earned a lot of credit for the tempo of this match, especially in this
1:45:32 > 1:45:43heat and humidity.Mike Marsh having a word with Rhian Brewster. A few of
1:45:43 > 1:45:47them over with the England physio, who was part of Simpson's staff for
1:45:47 > 1:45:54the Under 20 squad. He would be the only member of the staff to get
1:45:54 > 1:45:59medals at the World Cup with Under 20 and Under 17 levels. As you watch
1:45:59 > 1:46:03reruns of all of the goals and this one is the most important.Really
1:46:03 > 1:46:09good technique. On the weaker side, Phil Foden on his right hand side,
1:46:09 > 1:46:13he watches that contact right onto his foot. Just in case of any little
1:46:13 > 1:46:17bubble. Talking about the physio, can we take him to Russia? You never
1:46:17 > 1:46:29know!He has not won this yet. Steve Cooper will know that. This is going
1:46:29 > 1:46:37to drag on for Steve Cooper, this last 14 minutes of play.Playback
1:46:37 > 1:46:48under way. England have scored 21 goals in this tournament. Rhian
1:46:48 > 1:46:56Brewster has eight of them. It is that one from Phil Foden, is that
1:46:56 > 1:47:01enough for England to get their hands on the World Cup trophy?
1:47:06 > 1:47:13Spain free kick. He solved all of his problems, lack of discipline as
1:47:13 > 1:47:18Lara got to his feet, let him have it and don't let him turn. Little
1:47:18 > 1:47:21bit of tiredness from England. Trying to win the ball back to
1:47:21 > 1:47:28Italy. -- much too eagerly.
1:47:32 > 1:47:47Foden stopped. Moukhliss for Spain. The full-back... Thankfully did not
1:47:47 > 1:47:54get the greatest connection.Getting the best of Hudson-Odoi. And driving
1:47:54 > 1:48:03into the heart of the defence. Just a weak shot at the end of it.He was
1:48:03 > 1:48:12called in the summer, the Right back for Barcelona. He will be glad of
1:48:12 > 1:48:15the respite, Hudson-Odoi, the other way.
1:48:23 > 1:48:34Brewster's Fleck, just a fraction strong for Gibbs-White.
1:48:39 > 1:48:45Ruiz. Sessegnon with the challenge, Ruiz carries on. The first time all
1:48:45 > 1:48:52day but Spain's main man has been prominent.Yes, he looked very
1:48:52 > 1:48:55dangerous, anticipating that sliding tackle. I think it is the first time
1:48:55 > 1:49:01I had seen a player going to ground when he is not 100% going to win the
1:49:01 > 1:49:05ball. Just a little bit of fatigue on the decision-making, he has to
1:49:05 > 1:49:14stay concentrated. We have a substitution.Kirby. Is the man who
1:49:14 > 1:49:21was entering the fray. Gibbs-White, who scored that second England goal,
1:49:21 > 1:49:31is the man to depart. Kirby is that Russell Palace. -- Crystal Palace.
1:49:31 > 1:49:36The Spurs Academy in the summer. His third substitute appearance having
1:49:36 > 1:49:43appeared against Iraq. And Blanco departs for Spain, to be replaced by
1:49:43 > 1:49:51Carlos byes of Villarreal.Excellent contribution by Gibbs-White. He
1:49:51 > 1:49:56played his part. Hopefully Kirby can give a lot of energy for the last
1:49:56 > 1:50:00ten minutes.Torres.
1:50:11 > 1:50:14Cleared by Guehi.
1:50:22 > 1:50:30Free forward -- three forward for Spain. Still Lara against Sessegnon.
1:50:30 > 1:50:35Brilliant from Steve Sessegnon. Fantastic defending, waiting for his
1:50:35 > 1:50:40time to nick the ball. Winning back quite convincingly, against a very
1:50:40 > 1:50:45looking Lara. It looks like he has got good balance, waiting for a
1:50:45 > 1:50:51mistake from the defender.Sessegnon trying to equal his twin brother,
1:50:51 > 1:50:57Ryan, in winning a major tournament with an England development team.
1:50:57 > 1:51:01His twin brother has made faster progress in full's first-team
1:51:01 > 1:51:06although Steve made his debut before this tournament in the league cup
1:51:06 > 1:51:10against Wycombe Wanderers.Highly thought of by Fulham. The parents
1:51:10 > 1:51:15must be proud as punch. Good genes as well but talent is not born, it
1:51:15 > 1:51:22is worked for.Credit to both boys. Their cousin, Stephan Sessegnon,
1:51:22 > 1:51:28formerly of Sunderland 's... Hudson-Odoi was through there! Jaume
1:51:28 > 1:51:34with the foul. It'll be a yellow card the Paraguayan referee.Almost
1:51:34 > 1:51:49like a last-ditch tackle.Hanley. Hanson was about as well. Both
1:51:49 > 1:51:57Spanish full-backs shown the yellow card.Hudson-Odoi was away. That was
1:51:57 > 1:52:03cynical, he realises the scenario of the situation. 3-2 down, minutes to
1:52:03 > 1:52:09go, if he gets through, it is game over, probably the right decision.
1:52:09 > 1:52:12They don't show that in coaching manuals but in the thick of it, that
1:52:12 > 1:52:15is what you have to do for your team.
1:52:20 > 1:52:30In from Hudson-Odoi. Can they finish? It is Guehi! The Chelsea
1:52:30 > 1:52:38defender with the girl that might well win the Under 17 World Cup for
1:52:38 > 1:52:44England! -- with the goal. 4-2 they lead in a final where they were two
1:52:44 > 1:52:52down.This is so selfless. Latibeaudiere could have gone for
1:52:52 > 1:52:56the glory. Ironically, it is his central defensive partner who got
1:52:56 > 1:53:03the rewards. 4-2, England. This is an unattainable lead, I feel, but
1:53:03 > 1:53:08England will go on to win the World Cup. Brilliant play, keeping it
1:53:08 > 1:53:15alive. Nice and alert to finish it off. Fantastically well worked goal
1:53:15 > 1:53:22from the free kick, great delivery into the box. 4-2 to England. What a
1:53:22 > 1:53:31turnaround! The Chelsea defender, they won the youth cup last season,
1:53:31 > 1:53:34he was captain of England at the Euros when they were beaten in the
1:53:34 > 1:53:39final by Spain. He has given them a non-2-goal cushion with little live
1:53:39 > 1:53:44five minutes to play as Nacho Diaz has a final role of the dice for
1:53:44 > 1:53:53Spain. The Villarreal attacker. And it was he who got the equaliser,
1:53:53 > 1:53:58Diaz, the substitute, in the sixth minute of stoppage time to make it
1:53:58 > 1:54:052-2 at the Euros but Spain need more than just one here.Good defending.
1:54:05 > 1:54:09Stay on your feet, forcing that question. Just running that out of
1:54:09 > 1:54:15play. Trying to force the ball to that deadline. And getting into the
1:54:15 > 1:54:19box. Excellent defending. Just concentration now. Concentration,
1:54:19 > 1:54:24making sure there are no silly individual errors. Superb spirit
1:54:24 > 1:54:36from England. We can talk to Paul Simpson, the Under 20 winning coach.
1:54:36 > 1:54:41Put into context the character these boys have shown from 2-0 down to
1:54:41 > 1:54:48lead 4-2.Absolutely immense. We talk about their resilience, mental
1:54:48 > 1:54:51toughness, the character of English players and I think they have shown
1:54:51 > 1:54:56everything. 2-0 down, they just kept going, they have rallied around,
1:54:56 > 1:54:59they have a little wobble in the first-half but they picked
1:54:59 > 1:55:04themselves up and what a second-half comeback this has been? They
1:55:04 > 1:55:08thoroughly deserved to be 4-2 up. They look as if they still have
1:55:08 > 1:55:12energy to get going and keep pushing. And maybe make it even more
1:55:12 > 1:55:22emphatic.Well... George McEachran, the brother of Josh, will depart for
1:55:22 > 1:55:29the final three and a half minutes, Conor Gallagher, his team-mate, he
1:55:29 > 1:55:33has just signed professional with the Premier League champions,
1:55:33 > 1:55:38Chelsea. He has been there since the age of six. He will come on and get
1:55:38 > 1:55:45a taste of this final. As it stands, it will go down in history.
1:55:45 > 1:55:50Remember, no team from England at this age group have got past the
1:55:50 > 1:55:53quarterfinals of this tournament. Before they set off for India. Only
1:55:53 > 1:55:59one team ever has won the Under 20 World Cup and the Under 17 World Cup
1:55:59 > 1:56:04in the same calendar year and that was Brazil and that puts this into
1:56:04 > 1:56:09context, what Brazil, on the back of Paul's team, and on the verge of a
1:56:09 > 1:56:13cognition.It highlights how important St George's Park has been,
1:56:13 > 1:56:18how good the players are coming through. And you look at how calmly
1:56:18 > 1:56:23they were 2-0 down, they stayed believing, belief in each other,
1:56:23 > 1:56:27with the manager and the shape and formation, it never wavered and we
1:56:27 > 1:56:33have got their reward. Outstanding play, they stuck to the game plan.
1:56:33 > 1:56:40Hudson-Odoi, Foden is on! Can get even better? Foden! The party can
1:56:40 > 1:56:50begin! Two for Foden, five for England and an Under 17 World Cup
1:56:50 > 1:56:57for England! And this calendar year of English development football has
1:56:57 > 1:57:05just got even better! They will be double World Cup winners. And a date
1:57:05 > 1:57:12that will go down in history. England five, Spain two. What a pass
1:57:12 > 1:57:19this was! It reminds me of the goal from Brazil, it was just floated
1:57:19 > 1:57:25over, he took it first time on that occasion but Phil Foden, surely the
1:57:25 > 1:57:30player of the tournament? The impact he has had, his displays, the
1:57:30 > 1:57:34performance, he has shown everything and what about that composure? Once
1:57:34 > 1:57:40again, on his weaker side, amazing finish and to be 2-0 down, I cannot
1:57:40 > 1:57:43over emphasise what an amazing comeback this is for England and
1:57:43 > 1:57:48what resolve the players have shown. Two goals for the man that Pep
1:57:48 > 1:57:56Guardiola said yesterday would have made his first-team debut in the
1:57:56 > 1:57:59League Cup if he stayed with Man City but they wanted him to go with
1:57:59 > 1:58:02England and try to win a tournament and he has settled it.Amazing! And
1:58:02 > 1:58:06if you look at his performances, the way human abilities the ball, his
1:58:06 > 1:58:11enthusiasm, he has gone from training every day with Manchester
1:58:11 > 1:58:15City's first-team, who are blowing the Premier League apart, coming
1:58:15 > 1:58:19here, he humbled himself, proud to wear the Three Lions, and what a
1:58:19 > 1:58:26performance, not just today but in this final and whole tournament.
1:58:26 > 1:58:29Gomez of Manchester United is on for Oakley-Boothe for the final few
1:58:29 > 1:58:35seconds. This really has captured the imagination of the nation. I
1:58:35 > 1:58:44heard this morning that the Duke of Cambridge, nonetheless, said Steve
1:58:44 > 1:58:47Cooper and good luck message to the whole team.I think it shows how it
1:58:47 > 1:58:51has captured the whole of the country, we get behind our young
1:58:51 > 1:58:55boys and the performance they have given us in return is nothing short
1:58:55 > 1:59:01of stunning. Their conduct on the pitch, the discipline and fitness
1:59:01 > 1:59:05levels in the latter stages of this match have been exemplary. I think
1:59:05 > 1:59:09Steve Cooper needs a heap of praise because his performance has been
1:59:09 > 1:59:16brilliant.He will be left to reflect on what on earth went wrong
1:59:16 > 1:59:21for Spain. You would think he will hold his hand up and say the better
1:59:21 > 1:59:27team won?It was always quite a close game, even when Spain were 2-0
1:59:27 > 1:59:38up.Just a sign of Spain's emotions running out of control again. Sergio
1:59:38 > 1:59:45Gomez is the most sensible because he is pushing back Tories and Jaume.
1:59:45 > 1:59:49And that is a yellow card for Brewster. He could do well to move
1:59:49 > 1:59:57away from this confrontation. There is nothing to be gained. You stand
1:59:57 > 2:00:01up for yourself on the pitch, sometimes people come into your
2:00:01 > 2:00:04personal space you have got to stand up for yourself but there is no
2:00:04 > 2:00:09point at this stage getting in anything. Frustration from the
2:00:09 > 2:00:17Spaniards again. I don't want to see it. Gomez did excellent for the
2:00:17 > 2:00:23Spanish team, he has experienced. Foden is the subject of the Spanish
2:00:23 > 2:00:29frustrations. Latibeaudiere is trying to calm his opposite captain
2:00:29 > 2:00:36down.Phil Foden, the frustrations can get the better of these young
2:00:36 > 2:00:40men.
2:00:40 > 2:00:48If anyone is going to frustrate you, he's going to be the man!It must be
2:00:48 > 2:00:53a hard one for the Spanish youngster to take having been 2-0 up after 31
2:00:53 > 2:00:57minutes.But I honestly believe at this age, you win or you learn and
2:00:57 > 2:01:00if you don't learn, you lose, so you've got to try to take the
2:01:00 > 2:01:03positives from the game, learn from your experience and move forward.
2:01:03 > 2:01:07Like I said earlier, they are on the first rung of the ladder towards a
2:01:07 > 2:01:09professional career and they need to learn from situations like this and
2:01:09 > 2:01:14keep their discipline and composure. This will taste sweet, of course,
2:01:14 > 2:01:18having lost to Spain on penalties in the European Championship final in
2:01:18 > 2:01:22the summer in Croatia. That is an England free kick.Yeah, revenge
2:01:22 > 2:01:26will taste sweet for these boys, especially the six or seven that
2:01:26 > 2:01:30played in that game and got beat. But if you had the choice, European
2:01:30 > 2:01:34or World Cup winners, I think you would go over the latter. In all
2:01:34 > 2:01:38seriousness, Steve Cooper said they have to learn and show character
2:01:38 > 2:01:42from that agonising penalty shoot out defeat. They have not folded and
2:01:42 > 2:01:47here is the evidence.Absolutely no way on earth were they going to let
2:01:47 > 2:01:52this get to penalties, even at 2-0 down, I always thought the belief
2:01:52 > 2:01:54was there, individually and collectively, that this group of
2:01:54 > 2:01:57players believed in each other and they have shown that proved it to
2:01:57 > 2:02:01each other. Let's hope a lot of these can stay together, gain
2:02:01 > 2:02:05experience at their respective clubs and come back for the underage teens
2:02:05 > 2:02:16and do it all again. -- for the under 18s.When you say in football,
2:02:16 > 2:02:19as these moments, like me you have to take it and enjoyed. Look at them
2:02:19 > 2:02:23on the line, they know they are in the last minute of stoppage time,
2:02:23 > 2:02:27seconds away from the biggest adoration of their lives.Listen,
2:02:27 > 2:02:31full credit to Steve Cooper and the coaching staff and a medical team,
2:02:31 > 2:02:34the fitness boys, the chefs, everyone because they've been away
2:02:34 > 2:02:38for over 30 days, this group of players, and to keep them
2:02:38 > 2:02:40entertained, to keep them enjoying training and each other's company, I
2:02:40 > 2:02:44think it is a real challenge in itself and the way these boys have
2:02:44 > 2:02:53performed...History is made! For the first time in the under 17 age
2:02:53 > 2:03:00group, England have won the World Cup. And for the second time in one
2:03:00 > 2:03:03calendar year, two different age groups have got their hands on the
2:03:03 > 2:03:09trophy, after the under 20s success, it is Steve Cooper's team who have
2:03:09 > 2:03:14come to India in a tournament where they have never got past the
2:03:14 > 2:03:19quarterfinals and won it and they have done something that only Brazil
2:03:19 > 2:03:24had previously done, and won the under 20 and under 17 World Cups in
2:03:24 > 2:03:31the same calendar year and they have done it from two goals down, to win
2:03:31 > 2:03:355-2.Yeah, epic scenes, you can see both sides of the emotion, adulation
2:03:35 > 2:03:40with the England players, emotional, so happy, in tears, it shows how
2:03:40 > 2:03:45much it means to them but on the flip side, you know, you can see the
2:03:45 > 2:03:48Spanish players. Lower than a snake's belly and they will
2:03:48 > 2:03:51hopefully learn from this but what an achievement, what a performance
2:03:51 > 2:03:55on this young man, he's been a player of the tournament, there's
2:03:55 > 2:03:58the Golden Boot winner, they have scored the most goals and conceded
2:03:58 > 2:04:02the least, if that is not proof that they deserved to win it, they've had
2:04:02 > 2:04:06to come back from 2-0 down and really dig themselves out of the
2:04:06 > 2:04:11hole and do it with style and they did.Steve Cooper, trying to take it
2:04:11 > 2:04:18in. Look at the England players celebrating.I'm not sure about the
2:04:18 > 2:04:22Wonderbras!To come back from two goals down in the final, to come
2:04:22 > 2:04:26back from the penalty shoot out partake in the European final in the
2:04:26 > 2:04:33summer against the same opposition, maturity, character, and they
2:04:33 > 2:04:38deserve every accolade that is coming their way, an exciting group
2:04:38 > 2:04:43of England players who really have performed collectively in their time
2:04:43 > 2:04:51in India. Tears for Spain. But sheer celebration for England. Marc Guehi,
2:04:51 > 2:04:56there, the man who got the fourth, two for Foden and a word for
2:04:56 > 2:05:01Brewster, his eighth of the tournament and just look at what it
2:05:01 > 2:05:05means to those England players.
2:05:08 > 2:05:16And Brewster, with eight goals, collect the Golden Boot award but
2:05:16 > 2:05:21that really only was significant if his team or World Cup winners and
2:05:21 > 2:05:25that man, Latibeaudiere, is minutes away from lifting the trophy but
2:05:25 > 2:05:29this is a day they will remember that the rest of their lives, this
2:05:29 > 2:05:32is another significant day in the development of these English youth
2:05:32 > 2:05:37football teams. Listen to this, England are under 17 World Cup
2:05:37 > 2:05:42winners. STUDIO:
2:05:42 > 2:05:43England are under 17 World Cup winners. STUDIO: It is absolutely
2:05:43 > 2:05:49incredible, we are catching our breath here in the studio. What an
2:05:49 > 2:05:55incredible comeback, 2-0 down in the first half, it was back to 2-1, you
2:05:55 > 2:06:00would not think they were able to bring it back, though.Absolutely
2:06:00 > 2:06:02outstanding, second-half performance, such character to come
2:06:02 > 2:06:08back, delighted for everybody. Five years ago, when we built St George's
2:06:08 > 2:06:12Park, I don't think we expected this so it is brilliant, it is really
2:06:12 > 2:06:15good, they thoroughly deserved the victory today, outstanding
2:06:15 > 2:06:20second-half performance, showed real character.Just to remind the viewer
2:06:20 > 2:06:24is on BBC Two, we will stay with you until 5:30pm, the trophy
2:06:24 > 2:06:28presentation will take place in around 20 minutes and you want to
2:06:28 > 2:06:37watch that, it will be live on the red button for you. In the meantime,
2:06:37 > 2:06:40let's carry on, take a look at the pictures and what is happening out
2:06:40 > 2:06:42there. What does that say about the maturity of this team, how they can
2:06:42 > 2:06:45come back and overcome the heartache of losing to Spain on penalties in
2:06:45 > 2:06:49the European Championships and to come back and do this? The goal just
2:06:49 > 2:06:52before half-time I think was crucial. At that point, England
2:06:52 > 2:06:57looked a bit dejected, looked out of it at that point. Brilliant cross
2:06:57 > 2:06:58looked a bit dejected, looked out of it at that point. Brilliant cross
2:06:58 > 2:07:00into the box, Brewster getting England back in it just before
2:07:00 > 2:07:06half-time. And then just after half-time, this gives them fresh
2:07:06 > 2:07:09legs, a bit of an adrenaline rush, to come out second half and really
2:07:09 > 2:07:14have a go at Spain and that is how they get back to 2-2, you know,
2:07:14 > 2:07:17Foden was involved in that and I mean, Foden was exceptional through
2:07:17 > 2:07:23the game. He is an absolute talent. But what England did, and they did
2:07:23 > 2:07:26not do it so much in the first half, they got in behind the Spanish
2:07:26 > 2:07:31defence which was where people were either running at people, even that
2:07:31 > 2:07:34ball, just clipping over the top of the defence, headed back in, very
2:07:34 > 2:07:39unselfish and a simple tap in. At this point, England are seller
2:07:39 > 2:07:44rating and Paul, you will know, you can tell us what it feels like to be
2:07:44 > 2:07:47in this situation! It is an incredible feeling, it really is,
2:07:47 > 2:07:50brilliant to watch. We have taken Spain to the cleaners in the second
2:07:50 > 2:07:56half, we really have, the way we have dominated the ball, dominated
2:07:56 > 2:07:57from going behind,
2:07:57 > 2:07:59have dominated the ball, dominated from going behind, shown ability.
2:07:59 > 2:08:03Foden's goal looks a simple tap in but he had to work to get in at the
2:08:03 > 2:08:08far post, kept up with Hudson-Odoi, kept pace with him, got the tap in.
2:08:08 > 2:08:12It is an unbelievable feeling. We often talk about mentality with
2:08:12 > 2:08:15English teams and they look a bit out of it at 2-0 down but they got
2:08:15 > 2:08:20back to 2-2 and they came and played with freedom in the second half,
2:08:20 > 2:08:24expressed themselves and they looked far superior. All credit to them,
2:08:24 > 2:08:28absolutely magnificent. It was not as though Spain had dropped off
2:08:28 > 2:08:31entirely, they were rattled by the second goal but England just stepped
2:08:31 > 2:08:40up again and maybe another three. In the second half, they show the level
2:08:40 > 2:08:42of performance they have shown through the competition. That is
2:08:42 > 2:08:45what we were hoping for and expecting them because those are the
2:08:45 > 2:08:48levels they have got. In the first half, they looked a bit nervous and
2:08:48 > 2:08:52they got a bit of a jolt from the goals, but great finishes, workrate
2:08:52 > 2:08:55and attitude, you look at the celebrations, every one of the
2:08:55 > 2:08:57players from the bench was out there celebrating together and what a
2:08:57 > 2:09:03wonderful feeling to be involved in it.Absolutely. My thanks to Paul
2:09:03 > 2:09:07and Danny. We will continue on the red button to see England lifting
2:09:07 > 2:09:15the trophy. They are the under 17 world champions. Maybe this is the
2:09:15 > 2:09:20golden generation after all. Goodbye. There will be a new name on
2:09:20 > 2:09:21the World Cup trophy today.
2:09:21 > 2:09:24Goodbye.There will be a new name on the World Cup trophy today. It is
2:09:24 > 2:09:31him again! Brewster! England in front for the first time in the
2:09:31 > 2:09:41final! Can they finish it off? It is Guehi! The Chelsea defender with the
2:09:41 > 2:09:44goal that might well win the under 17 World Cup for England!
2:09:47 > 2:09:51# All by myself
2:09:53 > 2:09:55# Don't want to be... #
2:09:53 > 2:09:55EXPLOSION
2:09:57 > 2:10:02# All by myself... #
