0:00:33 > 0:00:39Hello again. It is the start of round three here at the bet way

0:00:39 > 0:00:43United Kingdom championship in the Barbican Centre in York. It is an

0:00:43 > 0:00:48all Welsh match tonight with Ryan Day, the world number 19, who for

0:00:48 > 0:00:52the last 20 years as a professional has been trying to win a trophy and

0:00:52 > 0:00:55a Gojun at the start of the season he had never managed to do so but he

0:00:55 > 0:01:01is a winner now. He is playing his great friend Mark Williams who was

0:01:01 > 0:01:05one of the men of the moment this season, having claimed the most

0:01:05 > 0:01:09recent big title on offer, the Northern Ireland Trophy in Belfast a

0:01:09 > 0:01:13couple of weekends ago. It is the first time in 19 occasions that the

0:01:13 > 0:01:19two of them have met, as both of them are now proven Trophy winners.

0:01:19 > 0:01:26What difference would that make? Let us find out. The all Welsh combo is

0:01:26 > 0:01:33commented on by an all Irish combo, Ken Doherty and Dennis Taylor.

0:01:39 > 0:01:42Just OK. He was hoping to leave black or pink there and for a moment

0:01:42 > 0:01:52at 40 had not brought it back far enough that is fine.

0:02:02 > 0:02:05Should be OK. He has a slight ankle and he needs to play with a bit of

0:02:05 > 0:02:12pace to get out from behind the yellow. Maybe he is straight on it.

0:02:12 > 0:02:17Plenty of cue power at the site. See the reverse side there, the normal

0:02:17 > 0:02:20angle would have taken that backing in cannon Green but because he

0:02:20 > 0:02:23played the white hand side the white shot off to the left. It made it

0:02:23 > 0:02:33look easy.

0:02:38 > 0:02:44A nice positional shot into the bottom pocket. The choice of coming

0:02:44 > 0:02:55down for the black or back-up for the blue here.

0:02:59 > 0:03:04He may take the least red here. He has a chance at the back but he may

0:03:04 > 0:03:07take the least red at the back of the pack. If you can leave a nice

0:03:07 > 0:03:11angle on this red, it looks a bit straight. I was going to he left a

0:03:11 > 0:03:14nice angle he could've disturbed a few more reds and filled beyond the

0:03:14 > 0:03:20black. He will not be happy with that. Just a couple more inches

0:03:20 > 0:03:28towards the black with that cue ball. You can see the tip of his

0:03:28 > 0:03:32cue, that is where he wants to leave the cue ball.

0:03:38 > 0:03:41He is thinking about disturbing those reds and a couple of shots

0:03:41 > 0:03:45time. This is a cue shot coming up. He will play this with a lot of

0:03:45 > 0:03:56pace. If this works out it will give him a chance to win the frame.

0:04:06 > 0:04:12A bit unlucky. He opened the reds up nicely. He has to be careful here. I

0:04:12 > 0:04:15think you can put the red in the left corner but he will can in the

0:04:15 > 0:04:18pink any might be able to push it towards the left middle pocket and

0:04:18 > 0:04:26he has to be careful that he doesn't Cameronette into the pocket. It it

0:04:26 > 0:04:30depends what sort of pace he wants to play on this as to whether he

0:04:30 > 0:04:38finishes on the pink or the blue.He hit it a little bit too hard. The

0:04:38 > 0:04:42same shot with less pate -- pace would have been perfect. The pink

0:04:42 > 0:04:46would not have come off the cushion so far and now he is faced with a

0:04:46 > 0:04:51tricky one. He has to get this one. It is the sort of shot that players

0:04:51 > 0:04:57practice. He is looking at the middle pocket. Sometimes a player

0:04:57 > 0:05:10would prefer to play her thin snick than a long straight putt. Where

0:05:10 > 0:05:17will the cue ball finish? Not bad.

0:05:36 > 0:05:43This looks really good. He has stunned in and out of the baulk. For

0:05:43 > 0:05:49the pink.

0:06:00 > 0:06:05He didn't want that kiss on the blue. Trying to avoid the blue. Just

0:06:05 > 0:06:10for the two reds on the pink spot. Again he is left with a difficult

0:06:10 > 0:06:18choice here. He could put this red that is on the pink spot into the

0:06:18 > 0:06:22left-hand corner pocket but he is not 100% sure with the cue ball is

0:06:22 > 0:06:27gone. He may use the red closest to the left-hand middle pocket to try

0:06:27 > 0:06:39and slow the cue ball down. He tried to hit that right next to the middle

0:06:39 > 0:06:45pocket but he is in a bit of No Man's Land here and struggling.

0:07:15 > 0:07:22That was a good recovery. He has judged it nicely. He has a nice

0:07:22 > 0:07:25angle on this red.

0:07:31 > 0:07:36A good pot.

0:07:41 > 0:07:45One good positional shot here of brown or green. He should win the

0:07:45 > 0:07:51frame.

0:07:56 > 0:08:01He has had to work hard for this, hasn't it?

0:08:05 > 0:08:08Yes, as long as you keep knocking the mean you are going to win the

0:08:08 > 0:08:12frame. It is always nice if you can keep close control but sometimes you

0:08:12 > 0:08:24have got to work your points. He has got terrific cue power, has Ryan

0:08:24 > 0:08:29Day. That shot is an indication there of it.

0:08:37 > 0:08:40Just the black, leave Mark needing a snooker and the reds are not ideally

0:08:40 > 0:08:44placed. Make sure you pot the black.

0:08:54 > 0:08:58There is only one snooker here needed at the moment.

0:09:04 > 0:09:07I don't think the double is on. Maybe if you played it a little bit

0:09:07 > 0:09:11on the left-hand side he could create the angle to double it, but

0:09:11 > 0:09:20is he just playing safe, just a safety shot? That nice break of 65,

0:09:20 > 0:09:24you would think might just be enough to give him the frame and it should

0:09:24 > 0:09:29be 1-1.

0:09:42 > 0:09:46Mark will carry on because it is only the one snooker needed and I am

0:09:46 > 0:09:50looking at the situation of the table, as he looks at the other

0:09:50 > 0:09:57table. The yellow was in the perfect place, the yellow snooker in behind.

0:09:57 > 0:10:02It doesn't matter about the yellow now, that is the show. Mark will

0:10:02 > 0:10:13stay in the seat. I think Mark Williams has not gone out as well as

0:10:13 > 0:10:27Ryan Day.Yes. I do not think he is 100% with it at the moment. It

0:10:27 > 0:10:33remains to be seen how he can cope with it. This will certainly settle

0:10:33 > 0:10:37Ryan Day. He looked a bit edgy in the opening exchange of the first

0:10:37 > 0:10:40frame and the beginning of this frame but a couple of good pots has

0:10:40 > 0:10:48kept the break going. He is going to win this frame quite comfortably

0:10:48 > 0:10:56will stop you never really settled down until you win your first frame.

0:10:56 > 0:11:00This will settle him down nicely.

0:11:47 > 0:11:54A couple of little exhibition shots. A nice pot that one. He has not

0:11:54 > 0:11:57bothered to take the black but Ryan Day will not be bothered. A nice

0:11:57 > 0:12:11break at the end there for him and he levels the matchup and it is 1-1.

0:12:16 > 0:12:23Mark Williams breaks off in this third frame. He will go into the mid

0:12:23 > 0:12:29session with a two frame advantage. That is not the best break. The

0:12:29 > 0:12:37Green will have rescue. It hasn't and that may be down to the tip.

0:12:37 > 0:12:44When you are trying a bit side on the tip it is a little bit different

0:12:44 > 0:12:55with the new tip.

0:12:57 > 0:13:00Ryan McLaughlin to win this frame and go in level at the mid session

0:13:00 > 0:13:10interval.

0:13:19 > 0:13:26He can putt this red and hold the cue ball exactly where the readies.

0:13:33 > 0:13:37A couple of reds just above the black will pot into the same pocket

0:13:37 > 0:13:47as the black.

0:13:55 > 0:14:00He has got a nice angle and a lot of cue power, as you mentioned. There

0:14:00 > 0:14:07are a couple of ways he can play this, with a bit of top spin and get

0:14:07 > 0:14:12the cue ball through the pack of reds and to the black but also stun

0:14:12 > 0:14:20through the gap. He's going for the top spin through the pack. It hasn't

0:14:20 > 0:14:30worked out.

0:15:23 > 0:15:36There is someone in his light owns -- line of sight there. I think the

0:15:36 > 0:15:41players were coming back from the mid-session interval at the next

0:15:41 > 0:15:44table and they didn't bother to have a look. You should always have a

0:15:44 > 0:15:53little look and see if the player is playing in the site. He just gave

0:15:53 > 0:16:05Judd Trump the dirtiest look ever as he walked out.

0:16:06 > 0:16:14Black doesn't go on the spot. He will be disappointed with that. I am

0:16:14 > 0:16:18not quite sure where it putts into. He is coming round to see if it

0:16:18 > 0:16:21putts into that bottom right-hand corner and if it does he will try

0:16:21 > 0:16:25and get it back on the spot immediately. He is saying that is

0:16:25 > 0:16:31not too bad and he can stun up for that black if you pot this red.

0:17:05 > 0:17:11They are not perfectly placed. Those five reds around the pink spot are

0:17:11 > 0:17:19just covering each other somewhat. Maybe the one that is closer to the

0:17:19 > 0:17:29pink spot might be available in a couple of shots time. We will find

0:17:29 > 0:17:37out now whether it is available I mean, he has so many options here.

0:17:37 > 0:17:42You could go for the red near the cushion that also. Being a

0:17:42 > 0:17:54left-hander, that is the one he has played for.

0:17:55 > 0:18:00That looks to be a little bit straight black. He needs a slight

0:18:00 > 0:18:15angle here and he has got a little bit to work with there.

0:18:19 > 0:18:22They were covering each other into the corners, that is why he played

0:18:22 > 0:18:31this one into the middle. He is normally very proficient at this

0:18:31 > 0:18:37type of shot into the middle pocket. Just a bit short of pace. He can

0:18:37 > 0:18:50only drop this blue in and then the red from the distance.

0:18:51 > 0:18:56With the pink ear, it is a little bit of a distraction if he takes the

0:18:56 > 0:19:04one to the corner. They just can disturb your concentration.

0:19:09 > 0:19:12That is exactly what happened. I don't know if he got a heavy contact

0:19:12 > 0:19:17there but bridging over and the yellow was near his sleeve and you

0:19:17 > 0:19:26are just a little bit conscious about it.He was up off the shot. He

0:19:26 > 0:19:33knew the minute he hated that it wasn't in. A chance Orion. Can he

0:19:33 > 0:19:35snatch this frame?

0:19:39 > 0:19:41-- a chance for Brian.

0:19:46 > 0:19:49The red of the black will putt into the left centre.

0:20:03 > 0:20:08He doesn't really want to go off the blue. You would prefer to stay on

0:20:08 > 0:20:11the black kid.I think any sort of cannon would do him here, as long as

0:20:11 > 0:20:17he doesn't get one of the reds full ball and stick there. Keep your eye

0:20:17 > 0:20:25on the black so, you don't want to miss that. Well, he didn't miss the

0:20:25 > 0:20:37black but he missed the cannon and it looked a natural.

0:20:49 > 0:20:53This looks a very good line behind the yellow. He has played that very

0:20:53 > 0:21:05well. An excellent shot. Both players having a look. Players will

0:21:05 > 0:21:10always let the referee have a look as well, just in kiss you happen to

0:21:10 > 0:21:13miss the reds and the referee will know exactly where to replace the

0:21:13 > 0:21:23cue ball. Mark has to be careful here and try and nestle into the

0:21:23 > 0:21:35three reds. Without trying to leave anything. That is a lovely shot. It

0:21:35 > 0:21:39is a lovely shot. He may have left this red into the bottom right-hand

0:21:39 > 0:21:45corner pocket but it is not easy, particularly with the rest.

0:22:16 > 0:22:25This would be some pot if he takes it on. He knew straightaway that it

0:22:25 > 0:22:28wasn't going in.

0:22:33 > 0:22:38Has he left it into this left-hand centre pocket? I think he has, and

0:22:38 > 0:22:47he can play a nice little cannon on the black. He just has to

0:22:47 > 0:22:51concentrate on this thread. If the red goes in it is a natural angle of

0:22:51 > 0:22:59the cue ball into the flat and try knock it over the corner pocket and

0:22:59 > 0:23:06if the red goes in it is a great opportunity to steal this frame. The

0:23:06 > 0:23:14red is there. Cannon on the black wasn't what he would have hoped.

0:23:18 > 0:23:26Still a bit of life in this frame. He could roll up behind the black

0:23:26 > 0:23:30here and it wouldn't be a bad shot. A dead weight.

0:24:01 > 0:24:05A bit of a chance Orion here. He could cut the red in and if you

0:24:05 > 0:24:08should putt it it will be on the yellow and if he misses it won't

0:24:08 > 0:24:15leave anything. Much too thin and a little bit on the hard side.

0:25:11 > 0:25:15This is not as straightforward to take it on now because the White

0:25:15 > 0:25:22will go near the left corner pocket if he takes the popcorn. That is why

0:25:22 > 0:25:27he refused it but it looks to be a pretty good cue ball, this. In fact,

0:25:27 > 0:25:40it looks to be a very good cue ball. Is there a gap? Yes, there is a gap.

0:26:18 > 0:26:29Well, that was an uncharacteristic mistake from Mark Williams.

0:26:31 > 0:26:37He could try and cut this red ink and back up. He will miss the blue

0:26:37 > 0:26:49and the black. That could be another baulk. This looks absolutely perfect

0:26:49 > 0:26:53if he can get on this black here. It looks really good. He may have an

0:26:53 > 0:27:00angle on the black. Just the red on the left-hand side cushion. I

0:27:00 > 0:27:04wonder, does he?That would have been a bonus but even if he doesn't

0:27:04 > 0:27:10he can get on the other red but he could take that red out. Well, what

0:27:10 > 0:27:18was that? Ryan. He obviously haven't got the angle to cannon the other

0:27:18 > 0:27:23red out but he should never have missed the black. He is annoyed with

0:27:23 > 0:27:39himself after that one. And he won't be too happy with that. He is still

0:27:39 > 0:27:47not happy with that tip, is he? It is on the delicate little shots that

0:27:47 > 0:27:53he seems to be playing with the touch of side. Where is that cue

0:27:53 > 0:28:00ball going to finish? Is he OK? Does he have an angle to go on the yellow

0:28:00 > 0:28:04finish on the pink and bring the red interplay? He could drop behind it

0:28:04 > 0:28:09possibly but he is looking at the angle and I think he can do. He

0:28:09 > 0:28:13would be playing to move this rather than dropping behind it, if you have

0:28:13 > 0:28:17the right angle, that is. He doesn't think he has.

0:28:41 > 0:28:46He's going to try and come off two cushions and land on the red. It is

0:28:46 > 0:28:51not a bad effort. This is not a bad effort at all. What a great shot

0:28:51 > 0:29:07that was.The great escape.I love that film. Steve McQueen.

0:29:23 > 0:29:28He has all sorts of choices available. He can play in behind the

0:29:28 > 0:29:44black. He could even take on the pot. He decided on the pot. A half

0:29:44 > 0:29:52chance here for Ryan Day. Although it is the best of 11, when you go

0:29:52 > 0:29:55into the mid-session interval it adds that little bit of pressure if

0:29:55 > 0:30:01you are trying to level the score or get a 3-1 advantage, it is amazing

0:30:01 > 0:30:09how you can miss a few balls. APPLAUSE.That will give him a bit

0:30:09 > 0:30:18of confidence he struck that really nicely indeed. He would love to have

0:30:18 > 0:30:25been straight on this brown. He will have to screw off the side cushion

0:30:25 > 0:30:27here.

0:30:35 > 0:30:42He is hitting the ball a bit harder than he needs to at the moment. I

0:30:42 > 0:30:51think that is a sign of pressure. If the pink is not in the way, the

0:30:51 > 0:31:00angle on the yellow will be nice. It looks like it is going into the pink

0:31:00 > 0:31:06and he will not be able to get onto the green that way, so... I'm not

0:31:06 > 0:31:15quite sure he will be able to judge this one, Dennis. As long as he

0:31:15 > 0:31:20doesn't go past the middle pocket, he will be comfortable on the green.

0:31:20 > 0:31:26All the way around the ankles, but will it be hard enough? He will need

0:31:26 > 0:31:35to use the rest.A good attempt, wasn't it? He would settle for that.

0:31:43 > 0:31:54No. Why was he screwing it in? He could played pops in and drop the

0:31:54 > 0:31:58green in. Ryan Day is feeling the pressure out there.

0:32:06 > 0:32:09This is a clever little shot.

0:32:24 > 0:32:31But other chants this. It will cut in. As long as avoids the right

0:32:31 > 0:32:39middle pocket, if he does attempt the pot. Be careful of the middle

0:32:39 > 0:32:47pocket. No problem. Will it dropped nicely on the brown? It hasn't.

0:32:57 > 0:33:01Worst possible place could have finished there. Amazing, it goes all

0:33:01 > 0:33:07that distance and it drops there.I think you can cut this brown in. Not

0:33:07 > 0:33:16too bad. There is a natural angle back to the blue. Yes, it's there.

0:33:16 > 0:33:21Just that little kiss on the black has taken this speed out of the cue

0:33:21 > 0:33:26ball, but he is still on the blue. He is ten points in the lead, just

0:33:26 > 0:33:32the blue required to go 15 ahead with 13 left on the table. This

0:33:32 > 0:33:41could be free and ball. It is there. He will be very relieved. Another

0:33:41 > 0:33:46frame that has got away from Ryan Day. He should have won this frame a

0:33:46 > 0:33:49couple of times over.

0:33:59 > 0:34:04That this pretty good. He was on the way out the door before the pink

0:34:04 > 0:34:11even reached the pocket. Ryan Day is very, very disappointed. Mark

0:34:11 > 0:34:15Williams leads Ryan Day 3-1.

0:34:42 > 0:34:48DENNIS TAYLOR: Mark Williams whether to reflect long pot there, it really

0:34:48 > 0:34:58was. That is the sign of an all-time greats, when you get a chance like

0:34:58 > 0:35:01that you go full-blooded for it.

0:35:14 > 0:35:15APPLAUSE.

0:36:21 > 0:36:29The pink is just away from the reds somewhat. He may play into them from

0:36:29 > 0:36:33the blue because he has the red over the middle pocket as a bit of

0:36:33 > 0:36:34insurance.

0:36:38 > 0:36:43That is what he has done. What a great split. He knew if he wasn't

0:36:43 > 0:36:50going to drop nicely on a red, which is what happened, he has that one

0:36:50 > 0:36:55over the middle pocket. Not all the players would have thought of that,

0:36:55 > 0:37:05Ken.Yes, he hit of lovely he got the apex ball perfectly. He always

0:37:05 > 0:37:11had that red over the middle pocket. He couldn't have played much better.

0:37:11 > 0:37:16His opening red is what has created this chance. He had to take it on

0:37:16 > 0:37:22full-blooded and if he had missed it he would have left some reds on, but

0:37:22 > 0:37:27you feel he will get his just rewards from this position.Well, he

0:37:27 > 0:37:31had to play back with a touch of side, so there was no problem there

0:37:31 > 0:37:43with the new tip. The more frames he plays with it the better it will

0:37:43 > 0:37:45become.

0:38:30 > 0:38:44He has a perfect angle on the black to get to those at least for reds.

0:38:44 > 0:38:47He is playing the white into an area where you have multiple choices

0:38:47 > 0:39:04sometimes. . Not too many pots away from securing this frame. I will go

0:39:04 > 0:39:08back to that frame before the mid-session interval, that will play

0:39:08 > 0:39:13a big part in this match because 2-2, Ryan Day would have been

0:39:13 > 0:39:19feeling very comfortable, but you could tell he was annoyed at losing

0:39:19 > 0:39:24that and it has continued here. He can't do much about this. It was a

0:39:24 > 0:39:32long pot that got Mark in.Yes, he should have won the fourth frame,

0:39:32 > 0:39:37and the one before that, as well. We had chances. He let it slip

0:39:37 > 0:39:42slightly. Mark Williams has certainly grown in stature in this

0:39:42 > 0:39:51match. Has looked a bit more confident. This is a lovely break he

0:39:51 > 0:40:01has put together here.It will not be easy to make the century because

0:40:01 > 0:40:05the 238 macro are on the wrong side of the table for Mark, as a

0:40:05 > 0:40:10left-hander, but they are not on the cushion, that's for sure. He would

0:40:10 > 0:40:20still love to make a century. 403 he has made in his career, had in his

0:40:20 > 0:40:27early days city made a 70, he didn't really bother to go on to try to

0:40:27 > 0:40:32make the century.I think all players like to make centuries now,

0:40:32 > 0:40:40because of the statistics. It wasn't the big thing 20 years ago, talking

0:40:40 > 0:40:46about how many career centuries we have had, but that all the

0:40:46 > 0:40:56statistics now. That is a good pot to keep the break going. It is a

0:40:56 > 0:41:04nice indication of how you are feeling, how you are playing. He is

0:41:04 > 0:41:10certainly playing well. He is coming off the back of his 19th career

0:41:10 > 0:41:19ranking win in Belfast last week. Well, every chance now because he

0:41:19 > 0:41:26has a nice angle to pot the black and get onto the yellow. It could go

0:41:26 > 0:41:32in and out of the baulk area between the yellow and brown. That is what

0:41:32 > 0:41:37he has played. He will be close to the yellow here. He will make

0:41:37 > 0:41:50contact with the yellow. It might just have spoiled the century break.

0:41:50 > 0:41:57Not that into the middle pocket at that pace, we know how tight they

0:41:57 > 0:42:11are, that was some shot!Great shot. APPLAUSE. Wonderful break. That is

0:42:11 > 0:42:21his 21st-century this season. He made 26 last season.And a billiard

0:42:21 > 0:42:27shot to finish off the break. It will be too worried about that. He

0:42:27 > 0:42:35got in with better reflect long red, and the rest was history. He is now

0:42:35 > 0:42:39leading Ryan Day 4-1.

0:43:00 > 0:43:07In most of the frames we have had their red go up to the end of the

0:43:07 > 0:43:15table, or at least 137 macro: the other end of the table that is a bit

0:43:15 > 0:43:22careless, isn't it, Ken?Yes, not the best shot he has played because

0:43:22 > 0:43:33this red can go into the left-hand corner pocket. The only red he could

0:43:33 > 0:43:37possibly lead is the one he is playing, but that is highly

0:43:37 > 0:43:45unlikely. But he has to hit it better than that. That was a country

0:43:45 > 0:43:54mile out.Is a country mile a little bit different to eight mile in the

0:43:54 > 0:44:04city?I think so.

0:44:29 > 0:44:40He is not happy with that. The red up towards the green pocket.

0:44:56 > 0:45:02APPLAUSE. Adam Peaty hit that hard enough. He

0:45:02 > 0:45:11wanted to be on the pink to the left centre. This black is very tricky

0:45:11 > 0:45:19and very missable. He is normally very good with the rest. He is

0:45:19 > 0:45:25putting a little bit offside on this. He has got it. That's an

0:45:25 > 0:45:31excellent shot. Very well done. Nice control.

0:45:58 > 0:46:02No. Every time he puts a bit of side on the cue ball he is struggling

0:46:02 > 0:46:12with it. He did not fancy that. He put a lot of left-hand side. He is

0:46:12 > 0:46:16not sure where it is going to go.

0:46:32 > 0:46:37Ryan Day really has to take advantage of these situations,

0:46:37 > 0:46:43Dennis. He did in the last frame. He needs to try and hurt Mark Williams,

0:46:43 > 0:46:48get back into this match. He has to make the most of these

0:46:48 > 0:46:50opportunities.

0:46:58 > 0:47:04Yet, he has to take this frame because of the drops 5-2 behind, the

0:47:04 > 0:47:09first six, you wouldn't give a much of a chance. If he wins this, it is

0:47:09 > 0:47:13game back on again.

0:47:50 > 0:47:55Make no mistake, when Ryan Day gets on a run he can win frames in a very

0:47:55 > 0:48:03short space of time. He made 39 centuries last season, just 12 this

0:48:03 > 0:48:14season. 305 in total. He is a terrific brick builder, that's for

0:48:14 > 0:48:17sure.

0:48:22 > 0:48:29Nicely played. Delicate little cannon that.

0:49:49 > 0:49:56A couple of reds just below the pink go into the corner pocket. He will

0:49:56 > 0:50:01try to drop onto those. That looks pretty good.

0:50:09 > 0:50:12If he pushes the cue ball through, he could be on possibly pink or

0:50:12 > 0:50:15black.

0:50:33 > 0:50:38I keep saying how laid-back Mark Williams is, but inside he will be

0:50:38 > 0:50:47watching Ryan winning the frame here and thinking about the red that he

0:50:47 > 0:50:54tried to cut into the green pocket when he applied a little bit

0:50:54 > 0:50:59offside. That is the only thing he has been struggling with with the

0:50:59 > 0:51:04new tip, when he tries to put side on. You can't just play the shop

0:51:04 > 0:51:08without side would you will lose your position, but every creditor

0:51:08 > 0:51:19Ryan Day here.

0:51:21 > 0:51:26A couple more reds and colours away from winning this frame.

0:51:39 > 0:51:42APPLAUSE.

0:52:00 > 0:52:11The pink will put him 54 ahead, 67 left. So, one more red and colour.

0:52:11 > 0:52:16He has got himself back in this match now.

0:52:22 > 0:52:27You can tell by his body language and the way he is moving around the

0:52:27 > 0:52:31table he is much more relaxed. He did not look so good a couple of

0:52:31 > 0:52:44frames back in his seat.He looked a little bit edgy, didn't he? He

0:52:44 > 0:52:48missed a couple of easy balls, a couple of Graham Scott a way that he

0:52:48 > 0:53:01should have won. -- couple of frames got away. It was a bad miss from

0:53:01 > 0:53:07Mark Williams. He is struggling a little bit with that tip at the

0:53:07 > 0:53:09moment.

0:53:15 > 0:53:22It doesn't matter about missing red, Mark Pitts is cue and concedes the

0:53:22 > 0:53:28frame. All of a sudden, Ryan Day is right back in this match, only one

0:53:28 > 0:53:34shot behind -- one frame behind at 4-3.

0:55:07 > 0:55:14Dear me. How close was that? He is having an anxious look to see if he

0:55:14 > 0:55:23has left anything. It looked in. Four or five wobbles in the pocket

0:55:23 > 0:55:35there. I think he has left the red. Or, has he? Ryan had an anxious look

0:55:35 > 0:55:38before he went back to his seat.

0:55:44 > 0:55:48He could get through to it.

0:56:07 > 0:56:16It is not an easy chance just yet this. Three Lewis reds, and the two

0:56:16 > 0:56:22above the black in an awkward spot.

0:56:32 > 0:56:43He has served red either side of the bunch, he can always flick away one

0:56:43 > 0:56:49of those if you needed to.

0:57:00 > 0:57:05You can see that little mannerism there, the finger going up and down.

0:57:05 > 0:57:16Some players do that, not as many these days. Remember Tony Mayo, the

0:57:16 > 0:57:20left-hander, won the world doubles with Steve Davis about five times,

0:57:20 > 0:57:25it was as if he was playing the piano is the way his fingers were

0:57:25 > 0:57:32dancing around.He had a really bad, didn't he?It was just the

0:57:32 > 0:57:38mannerism.He was like Richard played in, wasn't he? Marked

0:57:38 > 0:57:44straight up off that shot. Very disappointed. It wasn't the best

0:57:44 > 0:57:48positional shot from the previous black, he wanted to be a bit

0:57:48 > 0:57:57straighter on that red.I think he got a kick. That is why he reacted.

0:57:57 > 0:58:14It seemed to straighten up. Let's have a look. Yeah, heavy contact.It

0:58:14 > 0:58:23seemed to jump slightly. A good chance for Ryan, nice angle on the

0:58:23 > 0:58:36black. Into the pack. He will always be on the red closer to this

0:58:36 > 0:58:48right-hand corner pocket. He played that nicely. On the red to the right

0:58:48 > 0:58:51centre also.

0:58:55 > 0:59:01The only problem he has with that red to the middle pocket is that

0:59:01 > 0:59:11black is only available to one corner, that is the one he -- the

0:59:11 > 0:59:16reason why he has taken that one into the corner. You can tell he is

0:59:16 > 0:59:20growing in confidence by the way he is walking around the table. He is

0:59:20 > 0:59:26shaking his head because he has finished straight, but he can screw

0:59:26 > 0:59:35back to the 238 macro, or he has the pink city prepares that. --

0:59:39 > 0:59:48it is as if his cue is a bit sticky. That is why he has gone to clean it.

0:59:48 > 0:59:53I know yesterday it was very, very warm in the arena. John Murphy was

0:59:53 > 0:59:56saying it was very hot.

1:00:02 > 1:00:07More I think when you get a little bit nervous your hands start to

1:00:07 > 1:00:17perspire a little more. Again he is in a prime position here. The choice

1:00:17 > 1:00:22of going for black or for blue if he wishes.

1:00:28 > 1:00:34Nicely on the blue. He has not gone too far. He can hold for the reds on

1:00:34 > 1:00:45the right and left of the pink spot.

1:00:49 > 1:00:55He is coming around to look at the red at the bottom of the four next

1:00:55 > 1:01:02to the pink. The one directly above the black and to the left, I wonder

1:01:02 > 1:01:15if that will putt. He is thinking a few shots ahead there.

1:01:22 > 1:01:34He lost the cue ball. Not 100% sure whether he needed to go into the

1:01:34 > 1:01:41pack there.Yes, he needed a full-ball contact on the pink and he

1:01:41 > 1:01:49didn't get it and that is why he has gone towards this side cushion. That

1:01:49 > 1:01:53is a good recovery.

1:01:59 > 1:02:04Right in the centre of the pocket. Never easy, though. He has played it

1:02:04 > 1:02:14nicely.

1:02:29 > 1:02:32Amazing where he has put the cue ball there, he has left himself a

1:02:32 > 1:02:42choice of three reds. It is what you do, you put the cue ball in a

1:02:42 > 1:02:47position where you can change your mind. It gives you a few more

1:02:47 > 1:02:57options.

1:03:00 > 1:03:06It is like watching a different player now, isn't it?He has grown

1:03:06 > 1:03:13in stature over the last couple of frames. A choice of pink or black

1:03:13 > 1:03:25here and he has taken the pink. This is the sort of snooker he produced

1:03:25 > 1:03:30when he won his first ranking title in Riga in the first pot of the

1:03:30 > 1:03:36season.He beat Mark Williams on the way to win that tournament. He beat

1:03:36 > 1:03:44him in the semifinals 5-4. It has always been pretty close between the

1:03:44 > 1:03:49two in head-to-head 's.

1:03:53 > 1:04:00The wrong side of the blue.

1:04:15 > 1:04:21That was not the best shot. He needed to pull that cue ball back

1:04:21 > 1:04:27another couple of inches. It is almost like he decelerated here a

1:04:27 > 1:04:40little bit. He is a big lad, though, he may not need the rest here. That

1:04:40 > 1:04:47red is just in his way slightly. Yes, he has to tuck the waistcoat in

1:04:47 > 1:05:00because that could catch that red. But it is a distraction for him. The

1:05:00 > 1:05:04referee is keeping a close eye on his waistcoat and a red. Where is

1:05:04 > 1:05:13the cue ball? He is not perfect. Not perfect on the black, that is for

1:05:13 > 1:05:23sure. He needs a few pops to secure the frame. -- pops.

1:05:34 > 1:05:48Nicely played. A dead weight so he wasn't running away from this red.

1:05:54 > 1:05:58Colour and one more rate would be enough but he is the wrong side of

1:05:58 > 1:06:09blue again to get to the easy red too from the pink.

1:06:20 > 1:06:24Just the medium-range pot needed to get himself back to all square. A

1:06:24 > 1:06:27good performance from the Welshman.

1:06:59 > 1:07:04A nice 65 from Ryan Day and that should level the match up at four

1:07:04 > 1:07:12frames all. That is a wonderful shot. A beautiful shot from Mark

1:07:12 > 1:07:15Williams.

1:07:24 > 1:07:31He just tags in behind the black and he has to be careful here, Ryan Day.

1:07:31 > 1:07:3746 points ahead and 43 remain on the table. There is just enough room to

1:07:37 > 1:07:50slip round the back of that red. He would be unlucky to do that.Foul.

1:07:50 > 1:07:55That is just unlucky to catch the jaw of that pocket and all of a

1:07:55 > 1:08:02sudden the frame is back on again. As we show you the shot again with

1:08:02 > 1:08:10the reds next to the blue... Oh, this is a terrific positional shot

1:08:10 > 1:08:16he has played here. He had to get on the black.

1:08:28 > 1:08:33And with the blue rarities he can attempt the snooker. There is no way

1:08:33 > 1:08:38he can leave the red. Worth another look at this. He has hit five

1:08:38 > 1:08:45cushions to get on that black. He did not play that one too well,

1:08:45 > 1:08:56though.He pushed the red over towards the blue here just trying to

1:08:56 > 1:09:06get the cue ball on the cushion here and snooker behind the yellow. He

1:09:06 > 1:09:11has found the gap between the yellow and brown. He has to be careful

1:09:11 > 1:09:22here. Obviously he wants to try and keep the red safe be careful of the

1:09:22 > 1:09:30double-kiss here.

1:09:56 > 1:10:00Well, I tell you what, Ryan Day would like to see this red ball

1:10:00 > 1:10:09disappear into the pocket here. A long straight red. Wow. He has

1:10:09 > 1:10:17played the snooker. That is OK, as long as Mark doesn't get out of the

1:10:17 > 1:10:31snooker and market safe. Oh, he has missed it. Only just. Ryan 's choice

1:10:31 > 1:10:44of shot, going in behind the green, proving to be the correct one.

1:10:50 > 1:11:01I think he has flicked the snooker.

1:11:06 > 1:11:18Just the one snooker needed. Is this road past the yellow? Only half a

1:11:18 > 1:11:29pocket really. That is another excellent shot.

1:11:38 > 1:11:47Foul. Frame conceded. It was going to be too much wanting you is a

1:11:47 > 1:11:51couple of snooker 's. We had a glimmer of hope there but Ryan Day

1:11:51 > 1:11:55continues the fight back from 4-1 and all of a sudden we are for- four

1:11:55 > 1:12:09and it is now the best of three. So Ryan Day breaks off in frame nine.

1:12:09 > 1:12:18Six is the magic number for a place in the last 16. Not the best break

1:12:18 > 1:12:29off in the world. He will be disappointed with that. She just

1:12:29 > 1:12:37can't seem to get that cue nice and smooth.

1:12:48 > 1:12:54He might be able to row the Browning from one of the reds.

1:13:01 > 1:13:05No.

1:13:12 > 1:13:18I expected Mark to knock that one in, with what has gone on in the

1:13:18 > 1:13:29last three frames. I think that is why he missed it. Can Ryan Day keep

1:13:29 > 1:13:40this run going here? He has breaks of 39, 76 and 60 five.

1:13:46 > 1:13:51That was a nice shot. First the black in. The angle on the reds now.

1:13:51 > 1:14:02Split the pack and try and stay on the black if you can. He needs more

1:14:02 > 1:14:11of that cushion. It is OK. He is on the black and he has got a nice

1:14:11 > 1:14:20angle. There is the shot again. The way he has been playing, you cannot

1:14:20 > 1:14:23really see him miss this black. He doesn't have much work to do with

1:14:23 > 1:14:28the cue ball. There is the pressure, of course that should he missed he

1:14:28 > 1:14:39will leave Mark Williams in. Well... He missed it by a long way. Has he

1:14:39 > 1:14:41got away with it?

1:14:53 > 1:14:58I think he has got away with it, you know. I think he has been very, very

1:14:58 > 1:15:07fortunate. He is trying to get on the red to the left centre. The pink

1:15:07 > 1:15:09spot to the right is covering that, so just a safety shot from Mark

1:15:09 > 1:15:16Williams.That is an amazing piece of good fortune from Rion Pierre.

1:15:16 > 1:15:20Once he missed the black I am sure he would have thought he was bound

1:15:20 > 1:15:25to have left something.

1:15:56 > 1:16:00Well, he was looking at these two reds into the bottom corner pocket

1:16:00 > 1:16:09is a plant but... They may be set into their but it is a dangerous

1:16:09 > 1:16:15shot to take on. I am not sure where the cue ball is going. He decided

1:16:15 > 1:16:20against it.

1:17:32 > 1:17:40Foul and a miss.How costly is that going to be?

1:18:10 > 1:18:21Not straight forward here from Mark

1:18:31 > 1:18:42Williams straightaway he is faced with this red with the rest. If he

1:18:42 > 1:18:53can get onto the black and the pink is still available

1:19:07 > 1:19:10all of a sudden Mark Williams is finding things very difficult out

1:19:10 > 1:19:21there. Still don't get a lot of reaction from Mark. He has been

1:19:21 > 1:19:25blessed with a terrific temperament throughout his whole career and that

1:19:25 > 1:19:30is why he has been so successful. Inside he must be not feeling very

1:19:30 > 1:19:40comfortable.

1:19:53 > 1:20:00It is a wonderful positional shot from Ryan Day.He bounces off that

1:20:00 > 1:20:13cushion to perfection. That is why was surprised when he was using the

1:20:13 > 1:20:17rest are just rolling and screw back and that makes a pot in a little bit

1:20:17 > 1:20:23more difficult. If he drops that in he would be on the black that Ryan

1:20:23 > 1:20:31finished on.

1:20:36 > 1:20:40He could go into the three reds just above the black if he wished, which

1:20:40 > 1:20:44he went on this occasion but he could have done that, still being on

1:20:44 > 1:20:49the choice of rights.

1:21:04 > 1:21:16Well.Well. It is hard to believe. He hasn't missed many in these last

1:21:16 > 1:21:27few frames. It is unfortunate that he has covered red.If he pops this

1:21:27 > 1:21:37he could finish on the blue. That has finished a little awkward for

1:21:37 > 1:21:50him. Lots of side there. Good judgment that.

1:21:59 > 1:22:08He bite need that rest again.

1:22:17 > 1:22:22Just having a look at those six reds, they are sort of cover in each

1:22:22 > 1:22:28other, aren't they? Just coming around to look to see if there is

1:22:28 > 1:22:32one available but that doesn't look to be so he is going to have to get

1:22:32 > 1:22:42a cannon here to develop them. There was one that must be on but from

1:22:42 > 1:22:51that position it is not easy. Has he spotted something that we couldn't

1:22:51 > 1:22:56see? I don't think so. This is a long pot up past the road in the

1:22:56 > 1:23:01blue and into the corner and this is far from a gimme.

1:23:07 > 1:23:14It looks good. Oh! Mark stood up and blocked our path there. It looked to

1:23:14 > 1:23:26be in. I think it just pulled towards the left and cushion. He

1:23:26 > 1:23:36thought it was in when he hit it.He had a bit of an angle on the black

1:23:36 > 1:23:39to possibly play a cannon. That was the only red he could play for. I

1:23:39 > 1:23:48suppose he wanted to be straight on it. He has just spotted something.

1:23:48 > 1:23:52Don't think it is on the red. There is something in front of on the

1:23:52 > 1:23:56clock. You can see it just looks like a little chalk mark, doesn't

1:23:56 > 1:24:05it. Yes, it is when you play a screw shot you can leave a little chalk

1:24:05 > 1:24:13mark on the clock. It is quite funny that that would be bothering him. He

1:24:13 > 1:24:17is having a look at the reds now. He is going to try and attempt this

1:24:17 > 1:24:31red. This is a tough shot. Never easy that shot.

1:24:36 > 1:24:41He knew he was covering the one near the left corner pocket but the one

1:24:41 > 1:24:54he missed caught the black and is portable. Good cueing there. Very

1:24:54 > 1:25:02good cueing. An excellent pot. Right in the heart of the pocket and it

1:25:02 > 1:25:12kept perfectly still as well. He has a nice angle. The blue as good as

1:25:12 > 1:25:15well, if he wants to go into the pack of the reds from around the

1:25:15 > 1:25:21pink.

1:25:25 > 1:25:32OK, he is going to try and maybe get on the blue here. The red to the

1:25:32 > 1:25:37right the pink is just above the line of the paper and it will pass

1:25:37 > 1:25:47into the right-hand corner pocket. It doesn't have to disturb the reds

1:25:47 > 1:25:50here.

1:26:19 > 1:26:26That is OK. When he pops this loo he will be able to take the red to the

1:26:26 > 1:26:30extreme right of the four, and leave a nice angle on this. It leaves a

1:26:30 > 1:26:33nice angle so that when he putts this red tape can go into the three

1:26:33 > 1:26:37reds below the pink and still be on pink or black year and this will

1:26:37 > 1:26:44certainly open things up.

1:26:48 > 1:26:57Was he on the black? No. The red has come over and covered the black. If

1:26:57 > 1:27:02he was on the blackberry would be frame over but now he has to

1:27:02 > 1:27:11negotiate a tough pink. This is running slightly away from the reds.

1:27:11 > 1:27:19The one next to the black goes, and that was a delicate little screw

1:27:19 > 1:27:25shot he played there, especially being hampered. It was a much better

1:27:25 > 1:27:28shot than it looked.

1:27:38 > 1:27:43The black will put him 20 points ahead and just the colour now. Take

1:27:43 > 1:27:54one-frame advantage with a possible two to play.

1:27:55 > 1:28:00Typical Mark Williams, this. He virtually sat out for three frames.

1:28:00 > 1:28:12Ryan came back from 4-1 down. But he won three terrific frames and he

1:28:12 > 1:28:15will have to win two in a row if he was going to get through to the next

1:28:15 > 1:28:23round.

1:28:31 > 1:28:34We mentioned when he was sitting in his seat about his temperament and

1:28:34 > 1:28:37he is showing exactly what a great temperament he has. He has great

1:28:37 > 1:28:44experience.Great composure.

1:28:54 > 1:29:04It was a wonderful opening pot, as well. It left on a tough opener, but

1:29:04 > 1:29:13he duly obliged with good cueing and has set up this nice break.

1:29:30 > 1:29:38APPLAUSE.That was a terrific long blue.

1:29:46 > 1:29:55APPLAUSE.Nice break of 72 from the former champion here, Mark Williams.

1:29:55 > 1:30:00He leads his compatriot Ryan Day 5-4.

1:30:27 > 1:30:33He did not want that. If it keeps running he is OK. Yes, it has gone

1:30:33 > 1:30:41past the baulk line, so it is OK. It has come far enough. If he misses

1:30:41 > 1:30:45the brown it was going to be perfect, but as it has turned out,

1:30:45 > 1:30:56not a bad kiss.Ideally he would like to get on either of the 238

1:30:56 > 1:31:03macro the black spot. It would free up the black into one of those

1:31:03 > 1:31:16pockets. There is a gap, of course between blue and pink. That would

1:31:16 > 1:31:22really set himself up nicely if you could get on one of these reds

1:31:22 > 1:31:36beside the black spot. It is on the way towards this red. Pretty good.

1:31:36 > 1:31:43Could have done with another six or eight inches, he been nicely on that

1:31:43 > 1:31:5637 just to the right of the back spot. You can't believe that, can

1:31:56 > 1:32:04you? Trying to free up the black spot has knocked the red just to the

1:32:04 > 1:32:10left of the black spot. That the red is going to cover the black spot

1:32:10 > 1:32:18now.At least he has the pink in the clear. The blue is there if he needs

1:32:18 > 1:32:26it. That 87 Matt Gore and next to the black spot has booted out of

1:32:26 > 1:32:32commission for the time being.

1:32:47 > 1:32:53He was trying to get on the pink there into the corner pocket, but

1:32:53 > 1:32:58just overran it slightly. He was always going to be onto the blue to

1:32:58 > 1:33:05the green pocket.

1:33:23 > 1:33:31Has he screwed this cue ball far enough? The first red won't go.

1:33:54 > 1:33:56Building up a nice little lead.

1:34:16 > 1:34:24Can he keep things going here? It would take centre at deciding frame.

1:34:24 > 1:34:30Who would have thought that when Mark Williams led 4-1?

1:35:03 > 1:35:07Has he gone a little bit too far from comfort here? He does not

1:35:07 > 1:35:14really want to be playing cannons at this stage. He wanted to be

1:35:14 > 1:35:22straighter on this red, but he will have to caman this one and player

1:35:22 > 1:35:32with a lot of screw. He is the wrong side of the blue so he needs one

1:35:32 > 1:35:41more good positional shot and we could have at deciding frame. The

1:35:41 > 1:35:48fact that brown was off the spot there has made it a little bit

1:35:48 > 1:35:56easier. He has played that inch perfect. Great spot. The pink goes

1:35:56 > 1:36:08into the corner left pocket. Nice little angle. Think will put him 64

1:36:08 > 1:36:22ahead, so just one more red after this pink. There has been some good

1:36:22 > 1:36:34scoring, Dennis.Yet, from 4-1 down, he had the 65. Mark had a fine 72 in

1:36:34 > 1:36:43the last frame. Ryan's highest break has been 76, this coming at just the

1:36:43 > 1:36:45right time for him.

1:36:56 > 1:37:04This is his fifth break over 60 in the match, so good quality.

1:37:15 > 1:37:29Just moving that red from the black spot, so he can keep the break and

1:37:29 > 1:37:32pink century, it would certainly give him confidence going into the

1:37:32 > 1:37:35final frame.

1:37:49 > 1:38:05Just on the black. It doesn't matter. Mark concedes the frame. Can

1:38:05 > 1:38:11you believe it? To Welshman out there and we have at deciding frame.

1:38:11 > 1:38:15It will be exciting, it is 5-5.

1:38:44 > 1:39:02APPLAUSE.Foul and amiss. -- a miss.

1:39:38 > 1:39:51Foul.That was very careless by Ryan Day. He has left a free shot for

1:39:51 > 1:39:56Mark Williams. He does not miss many of those.

1:39:56 > 1:39:59APPLAUSE.

1:40:08 > 1:40:12The loose red at the bottom of the pack will be his choice here after

1:40:12 > 1:40:24the green. He has a nice angle to go into the pack. This will certainly

1:40:24 > 1:40:26open things up.

1:40:36 > 1:40:40That one was a long way away.

1:41:21 > 1:41:32He seemed to get a heavy contact there, that is for sure. Ryan played

1:41:32 > 1:41:37a careless shop and went in off into the right corner. He was just

1:41:37 > 1:41:43playing as safety shop and put the white straight the pocket and Mark

1:41:43 > 1:41:47knocked in the red to the right hand was in amongst them until he got

1:41:47 > 1:41:51that heavy contact.

1:42:08 > 1:42:14What sort of an angle does he have on this red here? Of course, he has

1:42:14 > 1:42:23the red to the right corner.

1:42:31 > 1:42:43Just having a look to see if the red up love the black, will that pot? I

1:42:43 > 1:42:53think the red should pot. He would love to get that out of the way as

1:42:53 > 1:43:04soon as possible. Not quite sure whether pink will have to go. Just

1:43:04 > 1:43:15behind its own spot. That will tie up the pink for the moment. The

1:43:15 > 1:43:25referee just getting the pink in line, then we'll slide at nearer to

1:43:25 > 1:43:33the reds without touching them.I am not sure if the black pots. I don't

1:43:33 > 1:43:38think so. We will soon find out. It definitely does, then.

1:43:51 > 1:43:57This will certainly open things up for Ryan Day.A great opportunity.

1:43:57 > 1:44:03Ryan keeps wiping the cloth, that is the chalk marks that he is brushing

1:44:03 > 1:44:14off the table. It really has been a terrific performance from 4-1 down.

1:44:21 > 1:44:26We know Mark has missed a few shots, but overall he has played all right,

1:44:26 > 1:44:30just the new tip on certain shots when he was putting side on he

1:44:30 > 1:44:33wasn't getting them.

1:44:39 > 1:44:47If you look at the standard, Marcus had breaks of 54, 44, 102, 72. It

1:44:47 > 1:44:54has been a pretty high standard game.It has been. There we see

1:44:54 > 1:44:59evidence of a bit of adrenaline rush from Ryan Day. He has had back quite

1:44:59 > 1:45:02a way to far.

1:45:09 > 1:45:15Only 137 macro to go at now, the back of the pack.He can roll this

1:45:15 > 1:45:29and come off to conditions. -- two cushions. Will he risk bringing a

1:45:29 > 1:45:34few more reds into play, or will he just play up for the blue and leave

1:45:34 > 1:45:40an angle to get into the reds? This is the only red available to him at

1:45:40 > 1:45:53the moment. It all depends how he feels. He is going into the reds. In

1:45:53 > 1:46:01fact, he could hold this end of the table. He has played that lovely,

1:46:01 > 1:46:16hasn't he? He has brought the pink interplay. The red to the left of

1:46:16 > 1:46:20the bunch of reds goes into the pocket.

1:46:30 > 1:46:39This is the only other red available to him, so it is imperative he gets

1:46:39 > 1:46:43a good angle on the pink this time. That one to the left is not on

1:46:43 > 1:47:03either. This is the shot coming up. It is key to this deciding frame.

1:47:03 > 1:47:10That is nicely played. He didn't have to do too much. The one at the

1:47:10 > 1:47:16back of the little bunch of six will go. If this works out, Ken, he could

1:47:16 > 1:47:23be in the next round. He has to judge this nicely, bring the reds

1:47:23 > 1:47:28interplay. If he is on a colour here it could be all over. It is not

1:47:28 > 1:47:30ideal.

1:47:34 > 1:47:42Sheik of the head. If he wasn't so close to the cushion it would be OK.

1:47:42 > 1:47:50Can he judge a little cannon onto the red beside the blue? A good and

1:47:50 > 1:47:57he has played really well. That is a great shot. That could be yet,

1:47:57 > 1:48:08Dennis.-- be it. Just going back to when he beat Mark Williams in Riga

1:48:08 > 1:48:14and went on to win his first ranking title, he is a different player now.

1:48:14 > 1:48:18This is the deciding frame and much more confident now he has won his

1:48:18 > 1:48:29first ranking title. A few more to be potted here.52 ahead, 58 now.

1:48:29 > 1:48:38Red and colour just required. It would mean Mark Williams needing a

1:48:38 > 1:48:42snooker. We have already had so many shocks in this championship, and

1:48:42 > 1:48:48this will be another one. Mark Williams coming here after winning

1:48:48 > 1:48:53the Northern Ireland Trophy.

1:49:07 > 1:49:11How has he missed the cannon on the pink? He can't believe it. Big

1:49:11 > 1:49:24target.It seemed a natural, didn't it? Marc Sneyd say snooker, fair

1:49:24 > 1:49:32enough, but the little smile just tells you, what have I done their?

1:49:32 > 1:49:40What has he done here? Dear me. Trying to put the red on the

1:49:40 > 1:49:46cushion, but he has made a big mistake.

1:49:56 > 1:50:03Mark almost stole an earlier frame needing to snookers.

1:50:15 > 1:50:25He still needs a couple of snookers.

1:50:30 > 1:50:36He might try and doubled this across the other side of the table. That

1:50:36 > 1:50:49looks pretty good.It is a tall order for Mark to try to get a

1:50:49 > 1:50:55couple of snookers, especially when you're in one yourself.

1:51:02 > 1:51:07That is a pretty good shot from where he was, with the cue ball

1:51:07 > 1:51:19close to this cushion. He has the pot on, but if he misses it, he

1:51:19 > 1:51:26gives Mark Williams a chance. He has missed it and it has left him a

1:51:26 > 1:51:37chance. OK, he needs to high value colours with this, and maybe player

1:51:37 > 1:51:46snooker on the red beside the black. He will want to leave that red

1:51:46 > 1:51:51there, the one to the left of the black.

1:51:56 > 1:52:00There is a little bit of life left in this match just yet.

1:52:10 > 1:52:22He needs this cue ball to go... It is OK. Just... He will try to

1:52:22 > 1:52:30snooker him behind the black. He needs a couple of snookers, but

1:52:30 > 1:52:34there is always the chance he could get our free ball if he gets a good

1:52:34 > 1:52:44snooker here.He wants to get this red close to the baulk collars. He

1:52:44 > 1:52:48has overscrewed that.

1:53:08 > 1:53:19Mark Williams is 40 points behind, red and Blackwood put him 32 points

1:53:19 > 1:53:27behind with 27 on the table.

1:53:37 > 1:53:45It'll be interesting to see what Mark Williams will do here. He could

1:53:45 > 1:53:50get yellow, green, brown and blue and leave just one snooker on the

1:53:50 > 1:53:57pink.What would you do, Dennis? I think that is what he has in mind,

1:53:57 > 1:54:04but he will only have one ball to play the snooker behind, though.

1:54:04 > 1:54:09Still glancing around at the scoreboard.

1:54:14 > 1:54:19So, very important that he gives himself a chance when he pots the

1:54:19 > 1:54:28blue to try to get in behind the black. If he wanted, he could play

1:54:28 > 1:54:33the snooker of the blue, but he would leave a couple of snookers.I

1:54:33 > 1:54:41think the right shot is to pot the blue. He would only need one snooker

1:54:41 > 1:54:52on the pink. That this is what he is looking at. Somewhere just in line

1:54:52 > 1:55:01with the pink. Just above the spot somewhere, moved the pink up to the

1:55:01 > 1:55:08baulk area. You would feel that this might be the best chance he has to

1:55:08 > 1:55:18get the snooker.Of a couple of cushions, try to get this behind the

1:55:18 > 1:55:24black. It is a bit pacey.

1:55:40 > 1:55:46He has played the alts or over, as we call it. He can get across the

1:55:46 > 1:55:54table twice to get back to the black here. Not enough side, didn't quite

1:55:54 > 1:55:57get enough on it.

1:56:06 > 1:56:14He will move the pink towards the yellow pocket.

1:56:30 > 1:56:36That is a bit short of pace. He needed the pink down close to the

1:56:36 > 1:56:39top cushion.

1:56:49 > 1:56:56He has knocked the black into a better position. You don't always

1:56:56 > 1:57:03have to play the snooker, keep it safe until you get a better chance.

1:57:03 > 1:57:07That said, he's just played the safety shot, but he now knows that

1:57:07 > 1:57:11the black is in a much better spot if he gets a chance to get in behind

1:57:11 > 1:57:14it.

1:57:24 > 1:57:29That is very good from Ryan.

1:57:42 > 1:57:47That could be the end. He didn't catch that as he intended. He wanted

1:57:47 > 1:57:51to try to keep the pink safe.

1:57:58 > 1:58:03That is a fabulous win for Ryan Day. He was 4-1 down against his good

1:58:03 > 1:58:10friend. He battled back, won three in a row, then went one behind. He

1:58:10 > 1:58:13has taken the decider and he will be delighted.

1:58:13 > 1:58:20He defeats Mark Williams 6-5. What a comeback, from 4-1 behind Ryan Day

1:58:20 > 1:58:24wins five of the last six to seven Mark Williams home. He goes into the

1:58:24 > 1:58:30fourth round for only the third time in all of his attempts. Great win

1:58:30 > 1:58:31for Ryan Day.

1:58:35 > 1:58:40At one o'clock this afternoon we will be back with what promises to

1:58:40 > 1:58:45be a cracking afternoon of snooker. We have two of the superstars of

1:58:45 > 1:58:511992, that when they both came on the circuit. Ronnie O'Sullivan and

1:58:51 > 1:58:56John Higgins. Not to be missed. We will catch you at one o'clock sharp.

1:58:56 > 1:58:59Goodbye for now.
