:00:35. > :00:39.We've seen the best of British in tennis in Belgium, and now the

:00:40. > :00:44.crowds have come to watch the contest back home to become champion

:00:45. > :00:48.of the United Kingdom. At York's Barbican Centre it's the turn of

:00:49. > :01:01.snooker's ace in the pack today, Judd Trump.

:01:02. > :01:08.I think after I won my first couple of events I was full of confidence

:01:09. > :01:12.and it sort of hits you. You have a few bad results and you go a bit too

:01:13. > :01:28.negative. Over the last probably four years

:01:29. > :01:32.now I've tried to work on what I'm not as good at, especially the last

:01:33. > :01:36.two seasons, I've done a lot of practise on my safety and other

:01:37. > :01:44.aspects of my game that weren't that good.

:01:45. > :01:53.APPLAUSE. I don't think I was ready before, but now I've matured as a

:01:54. > :01:58.player and as a person, I'm a lot more hard working and I know I need

:01:59. > :02:05.to win a lot more enormous the future. Good evening, Judd's an

:02:06. > :02:09.entertainer and he nearly pipped Ronnie O'Sullivan to this

:02:10. > :02:16.championship title last year. 9-4 down in the final and within 45

:02:17. > :02:22.minutes we were level. Ken Docherty and Steve Davis remember that. It

:02:23. > :02:26.was astonishing. It was when we realised that Judd Trump was a very

:02:27. > :02:30.special player. We thought Ronnie is the master here but the way Judd

:02:31. > :02:35.Trump took the game to him, and how many people in the world can make

:02:36. > :02:41.Ronnie over Sullivan look like a bystander. He didn't convert it but

:02:42. > :02:47.we saw how astonishing he can become. He has immense cue power and

:02:48. > :02:53.can destroy anybody on his day, for certain. How uneasy does it make you

:02:54. > :03:00.feel knowing that he's got in that explosive pace of play as well. He

:03:01. > :03:07.can reel off frames in the matter of minutes. He's an exceptional talent.

:03:08. > :03:12.As Steve says, he's got tremendous cue power. Great to watch and he's

:03:13. > :03:15.ready to take over the mantle I think from the likes of Ronnie

:03:16. > :03:20.O'Sullivan. As chief entertainer, yes. Absolutely. But, with him

:03:21. > :03:24.having such a beautifully open style of play, is there a suggestion that

:03:25. > :03:29.at times he can be vulnerable because of that? We still haven't

:03:30. > :03:33.seen the full, finished article really. That comes perhaps at the

:03:34. > :03:36.end of your 20s as it has perhaps with Ronnie and the likes, but there

:03:37. > :03:41.is the possibility that a player that's playing hugely attacking

:03:42. > :03:44.stuff, which is what we see amongst the modern-day players, their B game

:03:45. > :03:49.isn't necessarily strong enough to win the bread and butter games. Like

:03:50. > :03:54.a John Higgins, even in third gear can grind out the wins when it's

:03:55. > :03:57.needed and later in the tournament can produce the goods. You've got to

:03:58. > :04:01.get yourself in position all the time. Possibly Judd can be mugged

:04:02. > :04:02.every now and then early in the tournament. That's your professional

:04:03. > :04:19.opinion. Let's get some more. The future of snooker I think, he's

:04:20. > :04:23.got the flair and the personality to sell snooker. I would love to see

:04:24. > :04:28.him become world champion. He can make a big difference to the future

:04:29. > :04:36.of snooker. He's the Alex Higgins of the modern game, or the Jimmy White.

:04:37. > :04:39.He's able to play every shot in the book. Flamboyant. A great entertain

:04:40. > :04:45.ter. Probably misunderstood off the table. People see him as too

:04:46. > :04:50.flamboyant, a bit of a partygoer, but if you know Judd and his family,

:04:51. > :04:55.he's a brilliant kid, a brilliant player. Sometimes he gets unfair

:04:56. > :05:03.stick for his attitude, but I love that attitude. It is great for the

:05:04. > :05:09.game, so crack on, mate. Judd Trump, hard, quick, quiet, and a very good

:05:10. > :05:16.player. Devastating pot per. He's rounded his game. That's maybe taken

:05:17. > :05:21.a little bit off his potting but in the long run it will be better for

:05:22. > :05:29.his career. One of the best potters the game Air Force seen. He's got

:05:30. > :05:32.everything. Judd Trump loves naughty snooker, plays for everything. The

:05:33. > :05:39.crowd love to watch him, I love to watch him and I'm sure he's a world

:05:40. > :05:45.champion in the making. Sean, he's certainly been close a couple of

:05:46. > :05:51.times. It is a touch of deja vu for Judd today, because he played Stuart

:05:52. > :05:57.Carrington in April. The 25-year-old from Grimsby gave a decent account

:05:58. > :06:03.of himself before succumbing 10 games to six. It is the best of 11

:06:04. > :06:09.in York. The first of six go through to round three. We'll join it in the

:06:10. > :06:14.opening frame, Stuart Carrington ahead, but only just.

:06:15. > :06:29.They didn't find the gap. Needs the blue to come to his rescue, and it

:06:30. > :06:34.has. Might have a go at this plant, because he'll screw the white back,

:06:35. > :06:38.a half safety shot. It is not in a direct line. He's looking to see

:06:39. > :06:41.where he'll have to knock the first red, just to the left of the pocket.

:06:42. > :07:20.He might make this. A good, clean pot there. A little

:07:21. > :07:28.bit of pressure on that one starting off the match.

:07:29. > :07:54.APPLAUSE. Stuart's going to make the most of his opportunity.

:07:55. > :08:08.. The red is available next to the black. He was looking to see where

:08:09. > :08:20.the cue ball really needs to be. Going around for a little check. It

:08:21. > :08:24.is quite tight, the black. Hm, never easy when looking from behind the

:08:25. > :08:34.pocket. You can make anything go, can't you, Dennis, but it is the

:08:35. > :08:38.other side that's important. We'll see how he feels, whether he can

:08:39. > :08:45.screw back from the blue if he thinks the blacks a little bit

:08:46. > :08:51.tight. Well, that's the worst shot I think I have ever seen Judd play.

:08:52. > :08:56.He'll have to take the black now. He obviously felt he could miss the

:08:57. > :09:05.reds and pink and get back up on the blue, and now, well, he's had a good

:09:06. > :09:10.look from both ends. No margin for error if he takes it on. But he's

:09:11. > :09:16.sort of forced to take it on now, you would think.

:09:17. > :09:27.APPLAUSE. He could bounce off the pink. Sometimes when you play a poor

:09:28. > :09:36.shot like that it forces you to take on a ball that might not go. This is

:09:37. > :09:39.where the top-class match players, your John Higgins and Steve Davis,

:09:40. > :09:42.they would be skinning off the pink into the baulk area, but he thinks

:09:43. > :09:45.it goes. That's the only reason he's taken it. And it does. What a great

:09:46. > :09:53.shot. APPLAUSE. Good cueing there. Well

:09:54. > :09:57.done after the last positional shot, which wasn't the best. So now, what

:09:58. > :10:21.a chance this is. That's the target he's looking for,

:10:22. > :10:28.70 points. That will leave his opponent needing snookers. And it's

:10:29. > :10:32.always good if in the opening frame you can make a frame-winning

:10:33. > :10:40.contribution. So many of the top players are so good at starting

:10:41. > :10:46.quickly. Oh, he didn't time that one as he would have liked. The blue

:10:47. > :11:06.now, looking at the angle. That it wasn't too bad but a good

:11:07. > :11:11.shot needed. He's not quite had the cue ball on this break so far. He

:11:12. > :11:18.should still pot this, but relying on a couple of little cannons, but

:11:19. > :11:22.back in perfect position now. You mentioned about people starting

:11:23. > :11:26.quickly, Dennis. Stuart's going be kicking himself for that opportunity

:11:27. > :11:29.he had, perfectly on the blue, reds spread everywhere. Can only get six

:11:30. > :11:58.there. Very disappointing. Believe it or not, Judd made 82

:11:59. > :12:06.century breaks last season. And this season he's only made 17. That tells

:12:07. > :12:12.a story. As John said in the opening frame, he'll be wanting to have a

:12:13. > :12:15.good run in this year's UK Championship. Looks to be cueing

:12:16. > :12:44.nicely. He's just run out of position but

:12:45. > :12:47.he's well ahead in this frame. His opponent is already needing

:12:48. > :12:54.snookers. He's pretty good when he switches hands, Judd.

:12:55. > :13:01.APPLAUSE. Dropped it in. That should see the frame off. So, there's one

:13:02. > :13:04.real opportunity in this frame. He's taken very well.

:13:05. > :13:13.APPLAUSE. And that tells you how well he's cueing. When you're on the

:13:14. > :13:23.cushion and you stroke them in like that. That's a good indication of

:13:24. > :13:28.how well you're cueing. Needs to drop the red. Well

:13:29. > :13:32.how well you're cueing. Needs to drop the red. - needs to develop the

:13:33. > :13:38.red. Oh, dear, just hit this one as hard as you can and hope you fluke

:13:39. > :13:47.it somewhere. There you go! APPLAUSE. As we used to say, there's

:13:48. > :13:49.six pockets on the table and if you hit it hard enough you might find

:13:50. > :14:09.one of them. That was a very difficult blue he

:14:10. > :14:14.took on, but Stuart played a bad positional shot and Judd Trump took

:14:15. > :14:23.full advantage. He takes the opening frame and leads 1-0. A nice settler

:14:24. > :14:26.for Judd. Needed 42 and 32 to get over the line in frame two. Into the

:14:27. > :14:30.third now. Judd is six points behind over the line in frame two. Into the

:14:31. > :14:38.third now. Judd is six points behind here. A little awkward for Judd

:14:39. > :14:45.being left-handed. That was a lot thinner than it looked. He took it a

:14:46. > :14:53.bit quickly didn't he? In the end he hit it like a quarter ball. Looking

:14:54. > :14:57.at that picture, Dennis, it looks so easy, but these tables are cut on

:14:58. > :14:59.the corner pockets, very tight. I don't think he took enough time

:15:00. > :15:13.there really. Just needs to land on a colour here.

:15:14. > :15:18.I have a sneaky feeling that white might have drifted a little bit or

:15:19. > :15:24.he got a little unwanted side on that, because he played it thin and

:15:25. > :15:29.ended up thick. Originally it looked like he was on nothing. This isn't

:15:30. > :15:33.easy by a long stretch, but he may actually be on this. Where he's

:15:34. > :15:50.finished he's got no choice, he's got to take it on.

:15:51. > :15:57.Very well played. An excellent shot. APPLAUSE. Superb, that was. Best

:15:58. > :16:02.shot of the match from Stuart. No doubt about that. Lots of pressure

:16:03. > :16:06.on that. If you miss it you could be throwing the frame away, so that was

:16:07. > :16:09.superb. Now come on, concentrate. This is a great chance for you. Need

:16:10. > :16:29.to get involved in this match. He's had chances in the two opening

:16:30. > :16:35.frames, but just ran out of position a couple of times. I think that's

:16:36. > :16:39.why he's giving it a little more thought time now. His highest break

:16:40. > :17:05.is 20. These are beautifully spread, these

:17:06. > :17:10.reds. Doesn't have to play on the black. He's got lots of little stuns

:17:11. > :17:17.and screws around the pink area. The pink's available in a few of the

:17:18. > :17:22.pockets. When you are struggling a little bit to get involved, this is

:17:23. > :17:25.a nice way to make a break, just little screws, stuns. Don't

:17:26. > :18:00.manoeuvre the cue ball around too much.

:18:01. > :18:12.Of course, if he was playing in the club here, Dennis, these would all

:18:13. > :18:17.be gone. There wouldn't be any danger of it. All these players are

:18:18. > :18:23.tremendously talented, but there's pressure out there. On television,

:18:24. > :18:25.against one of the best players in the world, you want to show

:18:26. > :18:47.everybody that you can play as well. He turned professional in 2011, did

:18:48. > :18:49.Stuart. So he's gaining with every match. There is no substitute for

:18:50. > :19:04.experience. It is just learning how to do it

:19:05. > :19:08.under the match conditions. That's what he's looking for there, that 69

:19:09. > :19:23.will leave Judd needing a snooker. I noticed with Stuart's cue action

:19:24. > :19:31.there, he was looking straight down the camera, looks pretty much

:19:32. > :19:39.left-eyed when he cues up. Yes, very left-eyed. Snooker players always

:19:40. > :19:45.have one eye they prefer. The late, great Graham Miles was predominantly

:19:46. > :19:49.one-eyed when he cued up, and Stuart certainly is. You would think he

:19:50. > :19:52.would have the cue in the middle of your chin, but it's not like that

:19:53. > :20:09.with the players. It always has been the secret, just

:20:10. > :20:15.to deliver that cue through in a straight line. Some players don't

:20:16. > :20:19.even feather the cue, push the cue in and out. Some just point it and

:20:20. > :20:33.pull it back once and straight through. Yes, the great player James

:20:34. > :20:40.Watt son James -- James Watt son. Was world number three at one point.

:20:41. > :20:44.A fantastic scorer. Meanwhile he's taking these very well. Obviously

:20:45. > :20:48.had a couple of chances in the first two frames and let them go back in.

:20:49. > :21:10.This is looking very good so far. If he can clinch the frame with this

:21:11. > :21:19.visit it will do his confidence the world of good.

:21:20. > :21:28.And that's the frame more or less safe. It will be nice if he can

:21:29. > :21:30.carry on and possibly make a century break here. 28 centuries in his

:21:31. > :21:42.career. It is great to win in one visit, but

:21:43. > :21:45.as you say, Dennis, builds up the confidence and the scoreboard

:21:46. > :21:52.changes a lot quicker when you're doing it instead of having to graft

:21:53. > :22:00.all the way through a frame. Might gist have spoiled the century there.

:22:01. > :22:07.At the moment the Bluebell Children's Horse it has over ?9,000

:22:08. > :22:12.from our sponsor this year. Every 100 break is made they give a prize,

:22:13. > :22:17.and it is over ?9,000 at the moment. Unfortunately no century but Stuart

:22:18. > :22:24.won't bother about that. He needed to get a frame on the board and he

:22:25. > :22:29.did in style. Judd Trump still leads 2-1. As Stuart Carrington won the

:22:30. > :22:35.next as well, so he hauled himself back into this. It is all square in

:22:36. > :22:39.the interval, but into frame five there's a 30-point advantage for the

:22:40. > :23:17.Juggernaut. He's 30 points behind. If this goes

:23:18. > :23:26.in, what a chance, but it's not an easy one by any means.

:23:27. > :23:38.Good cueing. An excellent shot, that. Really was good. There were a

:23:39. > :23:43.couple of shots today, a black early on in one of the frames, where he

:23:44. > :23:48.would probably do the frame in if he missed it. Would have left a chance

:23:49. > :23:52.for Judd if he left that one, so he's got a bit of bottle under

:23:53. > :24:00.pressure, no doubt about it. He's a dangerous opponent, Stuart. Judd

:24:01. > :24:06.will have to work this afternoon. I think last season he had a great win

:24:07. > :24:12.against the darling of Dublin, Ken Docherty, 6-3 in qualifying for the

:24:13. > :24:18.international. So he can play. He only turned professional in 2011.

:24:19. > :24:21.He's growing in confidence as each season goes by, and he's getting

:24:22. > :24:30.better results. I think qualifying for that World

:24:31. > :24:35.Championship back at the Crucible and putting in a pretty good

:24:36. > :24:40.performance against Judd has stood him in good stead.

:24:41. > :24:43.APPLAUSE. There's nothing like going to that wonderful venue for the

:24:44. > :24:47.first time and playing there. It is a little bit daunting, but if you

:24:48. > :24:51.can put up a decent performance you look forward to going back again,

:24:52. > :24:56.knowing full well that you're capable of playing in there. This is

:24:57. > :25:01.a wonderful opportunity for Stuart. OK, he's a few points behind, but

:25:02. > :25:06.the way these balls are spread, no reason why he can't win the frame

:25:07. > :25:16.off this if he does what he's capable of.

:25:17. > :25:35.There's not a ball safe on the table. They are all pottable.

:25:36. > :25:43.I don't know whether the two reds next to the one he's going to take

:25:44. > :25:47.are a little awkward. He may choose to cannon here and stay on the

:25:48. > :26:00.baulk, or run through and move it. Just move them slightly. There you

:26:01. > :26:13.go. A choice of green or blue. Fabulous chance.

:26:14. > :26:23.Well, if you snookered yourself there, Stuart, I cannot believe

:26:24. > :26:26.you've played that shot. He may play some bad shots this afternoon but he

:26:27. > :26:31.won't play one worse than that. The only thing you've not got to do is

:26:32. > :26:37.leave the cue ball in the baulk area behind the green spot. What a

:26:38. > :26:43.mistake that is. The margin of error he had there, I will stick a circle

:26:44. > :26:47.up, anywhere in that circle and he's got either red. The one thing he

:26:48. > :26:53.couldn't do is come up short. Amazing. That's the type of shot

:26:54. > :26:59.that can cost awe match, never mind a frame. It is such a bad shot,

:27:00. > :27:04.anywhere, get the cue ball past the baulk line and you've got three reds

:27:05. > :27:09.to pot. To leave it there... Well, unforgivable. He'll do very well to

:27:10. > :27:23.get out of this without sticking the game up.

:27:24. > :27:28.I think he's thinking about playing the screw shot into the cushion

:27:29. > :27:44.maybe. He tried to flick off the back of

:27:45. > :27:52.that red. Foul and a miss. Stuart Carrington 20, Judd Trump 4. No

:27:53. > :28:00.hesitation from the judge. Get the cue ball back, please.

:28:01. > :28:07.I think if he can hit the cushion and flick that red and leave the

:28:08. > :28:15.white anywhere up the right-side of the table, the threads are near the

:28:16. > :28:22.pink aren't pottable. T-side -- reds. You have to make sure when you

:28:23. > :28:30.flick it you don't hit the bump as well. That's a fabulous shot. He's

:28:31. > :28:41.got himself out of a right pickle there. Having said that, Judd might

:28:42. > :28:58.slot this into the middle pocket. APPLAUSE. That was a brilliant pot.

:28:59. > :29:01.Honestly, Stuart played a stinker to leave himself in no-man's-land

:29:02. > :29:05.behind the green. He played as good a shot as he could possibly play,

:29:06. > :29:11.but that one in the middle was fantastic. Now Judd, come on, you

:29:12. > :29:16.need to concentrate. Need to get playing properly in this match. It

:29:17. > :29:22.could get very dangerous if you don't start scoring. He is the

:29:23. > :29:25.favourite to lift this year's bet way UK Championship. He was

:29:26. > :29:34.favourite before the tournament started. And that adds a little bit

:29:35. > :29:39.of pressure to a player. A little bit of pressure on this. Should pot

:29:40. > :29:43.this, obviously, but he wanted to be on the green or the brown. A good

:29:44. > :29:48.pot. Stuart missed his chance. I'm not so

:29:49. > :30:25.sure that Judd will. Was in great chance, just a little

:30:26. > :30:34.careless. A lot careless. Didn't come far enough and snookered

:30:35. > :30:40.himself in behind the green. You can give them 50 attempts at that and he

:30:41. > :30:46.wouldn't leave it there. He did leave it today. At a stage when he

:30:47. > :30:54.didn't want to do it that the UK Championship.

:30:55. > :31:02.It certainly cost him the frame and be interesting to see what happens

:31:03. > :31:08.from here if that one is going to be the big turning point. I'm with you,

:31:09. > :31:13.what I read that he put in the middle pocket,. I thought it would

:31:14. > :31:29.be a good shot and it was. Absolutely fabulous.

:31:30. > :31:39.Poor positioning, but doesn't really matter.

:31:40. > :31:49.And tell you what, you will not see a better positional shot than that.

:31:50. > :31:54.Right away I around the houses. I can't believe you didn't suss that

:31:55. > :32:05.one out! Likes to play a few exhibition shop.

:32:06. > :32:10.He had a couple of chances, he took that second one and that break of 49

:32:11. > :32:15.gets up from back that second one and that break of 49

:32:16. > :32:18.gets up from back into the lead. Judd Trump is the 5-1 joint

:32:19. > :32:24.favourite for this title alongside Neil Robertson, 3-1 the UK title

:32:25. > :32:26.four years ago and would love to do it one more time. Carrington with

:32:27. > :33:20.his hand on the table, 12-0 up. You see the ball is taking off

:33:21. > :33:27.there. The referee called in, cleaning it up. The way it has

:33:28. > :33:40.finished, not the worst, drop this in with a little bit of side and get

:33:41. > :33:45.onto the black. He can cannon into the red because he is guaranteed to

:33:46. > :33:53.be on the one that is on its own at the right of the black. Not a good

:33:54. > :33:57.little bunch of reds to go into but making sure he doesn't plan one into

:33:58. > :34:09.the middle pocket if he played that cannon. Those two reds are in line

:34:10. > :34:12.and you have to be careful if you try to hit them with any pace. That

:34:13. > :34:32.is why he didn't. Nice chance year, he has got other

:34:33. > :34:37.red will stop that is the reason he didn't cannon into them. You would

:34:38. > :34:51.have knocked that plan into the middle. Funny little setup, the

:34:52. > :35:02.reds, never seen five reds like that in a free months never before. Not

:35:03. > :35:27.an obvious chance if you have to move some rides around.

:35:28. > :35:33.We'll be looking for an angle he can play off, there is one read in the

:35:34. > :35:44.centre if you can play the accurate positional shot. They did in such a

:35:45. > :35:50.way that if he wasn't on was on the other.

:35:51. > :36:14.Like to break build and give himself options.

:36:15. > :36:21.Judd Trump has a break of 87 in the opening frame but nothing really

:36:22. > :36:27.since that, just in the 40s because he lost some concentration and was

:36:28. > :36:29.missing a fairly straightforward shot. Lets see if you can keep

:36:30. > :36:38.things going here. Pot success rate, way ahead. 93%, he

:36:39. > :37:14.is normally in the 90s. I have to say she has got these out

:37:15. > :37:18.so well so far. Had to go into a few reds and get them around, his

:37:19. > :37:31.positional play and that he has been able to cherry pick the reds. Just

:37:32. > :37:55.nudging a little one into play. Good stuff.

:37:56. > :38:10.Not sure what happened there. Eem to kick, just went a bit further than

:38:11. > :38:13.he wanted, but he has such a good cue ball he might be able to just

:38:14. > :38:23.hold this. He made it look easy, delicate little screw shot. Best

:38:24. > :38:39.break of the match, using this very well. Go back to the last frame.

:38:40. > :38:58.Could have gone 3-2 ahead. Now 4-2 behind. Oliver that difficult red on

:38:59. > :39:09.the cushion as to whether he can make a century break.

:39:10. > :39:18.Has he got an angle to bring it into play? He has brought it into play.

:39:19. > :39:30.And he has played it beautifully. Terrific shot. Every chance of

:39:31. > :39:41.another hundred pounds for the charity. They have fought over

:39:42. > :39:48.?9,000 so far from our title sponsor, a great gesture. Deserves a

:39:49. > :39:55.century. This break has been wonderful, that shot to remove the

:39:56. > :39:59.last race of the few was special. Played in fits and starts but when

:40:00. > :40:05.he is fully focused and concentrated and his cue ball control is as good

:40:06. > :40:17.as this, he is as good as anybody. This has been a marvellous break.

:40:18. > :40:23.Wonderful control will stop. After little bit short but just making

:40:24. > :40:33.sure of the brown. Looking around the angles. You pop them around. Is

:40:34. > :40:36.it in the middle pocket? Get in? Yes! APPLAUSE

:40:37. > :40:50.. He only needed one chance in this

:40:51. > :40:59.frame, that was a magnificent injury break just dumped and he extends his

:41:00. > :41:04.lead now, 4-2 now. They shared the next two friends, staying in touch

:41:05. > :41:08.with the 55 contribution and Judd Trump is waiting for a chance to get

:41:09. > :41:14.over the line, nine points to make up in the next.

:41:15. > :41:27.COMMENTATOR: It is amazing, she misses an easier one and then Knox

:41:28. > :41:45.in -- not have that chance. But at the

:41:46. > :41:52.bottom of the pack after not that one in. You can get a little stunned

:41:53. > :41:57.cannon on the back. Good chance. Get this in there, play a little cannon

:41:58. > :41:59.on the outside red if you want to move that allowed. Fantastic opening

:42:00. > :42:11.pot. Now is your cannon to bring another

:42:12. > :42:21.reds into play. Probably go through with this one and flip another out.

:42:22. > :42:28.The one to the opposite corner. He one at the back of the bunch

:42:29. > :42:33.available. -- he made the one at the back of the bunch available. That

:42:34. > :42:41.was almost straight and look at the action he got on that. A lot of that

:42:42. > :42:44.going to cue action but a lot of that fantasy is very lively clots, a

:42:45. > :42:49.shot you couldn't have played many moons ago with the figure of lofts,

:42:50. > :43:01.but he hasn't got any action on that. -- dinner cloths

:43:02. > :43:18.Two already in this break, the opening shot and that one.

:43:19. > :43:26.He will want to get this much over with, Judd Trump, tough tournament

:43:27. > :43:38.2-1 the United Kingdom championship, eg the NTU reserves. -- unique to

:43:39. > :43:45.dig into your reserves. Has not been at his best today, still flashes of

:43:46. > :43:49.brilliance. Certainly has to improve on what he has shown here, but I'm

:43:50. > :44:05.pretty sure that he will and has to get this match out of the way.

:44:06. > :44:12.And what all great champions do, started in style, won the first

:44:13. > :44:19.frame with a break of 87, though he finished in style with a winning

:44:20. > :44:22.contribution here? He has half a century, 101. Stuart Carrington had

:44:23. > :44:36.75. But he has played this very nicely.

:44:37. > :44:43.A lot better shot than it looked. Very difficult to play, just wait

:44:44. > :45:02.angle. -- just widen the angle. The bottom red goes as well. Goodness

:45:03. > :45:09.me. Then he goes and does that. That was such an easy pot compared to the

:45:10. > :45:17.one he knocked in previously, just purely a lack of concentration.

:45:18. > :45:21.Giving himself a talking to there. Just looking to see if that red

:45:22. > :45:29.would sneak in past the black. Looks like it from here. More importantly,

:45:30. > :45:51.from the other side where it counts, he doesn't seem to think it counts.

:45:52. > :46:03.I don't know whether he can get to the red on the right-hand side. That

:46:04. > :46:08.is making it a very big pocket, the black ball. As long as you are

:46:09. > :46:14.somewhere near this, the cushion first and of the black it will go

:46:15. > :46:19.in, very good chance you cannot this in -- he can not this in. Should be

:46:20. > :46:35.a matchwinner. It certainly could be a matchwinner.

:46:36. > :46:46.Quite a good way to get onto the green!

:46:47. > :46:58.47 the difference. A red and anything above the blue. He is on

:46:59. > :47:13.the blue. We have had a little bit of

:47:14. > :47:21.everything from Judd Trump in this match, some brilliance, some poor

:47:22. > :47:25.shot, Stuart Carrington had a good chance early on, made a bad mistake

:47:26. > :47:30.and seemed to turn the match around, you mentioned a few times snookered

:47:31. > :47:40.himself on the green was we spotted and that was a big turning point

:47:41. > :47:44.stop you will not feel that. Getting on television stages, on the TV and

:47:45. > :47:51.playing against the big players, it is what you have got to do. Well you

:47:52. > :47:53.are still in it you can win it and he will get better. Another

:47:54. > :48:12.exhibition shot. Will he just rolled us read into the

:48:13. > :48:17.corner? -- this red. Yes, at 100 mph! And he is on the black. What

:48:18. > :48:20.about that for a shot! The frame and the match is over but very

:48:21. > :48:25.entertaining to see something like that. This is no disrespect to his

:48:26. > :48:26.opponent, something he loves to do and the crowd love to see it

:48:27. > :48:40.happening. He cannot pot this yellow? Can he,

:48:41. > :48:44.will it pass the brown? No. Handshakes all around, Judd Trump

:48:45. > :48:48.wasn't at his brilliant best but the favourite did more than enough, made

:48:49. > :48:50.a nice century break and in the end he ran out a very comfortable

:48:51. > :49:01.winner, six frames to three. Not the greatest and I have played,

:49:02. > :49:05.little bit scrappy. My concentration wasn't great. Not a great last

:49:06. > :49:10.couple of tournaments but when I get into the tournament I just relax and

:49:11. > :49:14.start playing my game. Always nice to get through the first few rounds

:49:15. > :49:26.quite comfortable in and produce your best snooker. Judd Trump in the

:49:27. > :49:32.last 32, what year was he in today? He could have been made to fight a

:49:33. > :49:37.lot harder had Stuart Carrington not Mr Lee positional shot, perhaps he

:49:38. > :49:41.wasn't stretched enough but what you do know about Judd Trump, and he is

:49:42. > :49:47.not in Top Gear, she can get to it very quickly, it is one of those

:49:48. > :49:51.games, he is supposed to win it. Just get over it and do not judge it

:49:52. > :50:00.too much. We saw flashes of his great style. One particular shot.

:50:01. > :50:05.The amount of top spin he generates on the cue ball. Little bit of luck

:50:06. > :50:10.involved, but the shot itself, that is what he does, he goes for his

:50:11. > :50:14.shots and sometimes you can miss and easy black but pull off a great shot

:50:15. > :50:19.like that and that is why people will always want to see him, wasn't

:50:20. > :50:23.a great performance by his standards but he is in the next round and

:50:24. > :50:26.plenty more to come. An interesting season because he looked like he was

:50:27. > :50:33.beginning to mortar, but the Shanghai final to be beaten by

:50:34. > :50:36.Wilson, that was a big breakthrough, but since then Judd

:50:37. > :50:41.Trump had a couple of really unfortunate defeats at very

:50:42. > :50:48.low-level, 128, I wonder how much that knocks you off your stride when

:50:49. > :50:50.you are expected to win. You can do but the players cannot let that

:50:51. > :50:53.affect them because it will happen more and more often and so many

:50:54. > :50:57.players capable of beating each other that you have to be mentally

:50:58. > :51:01.harder. It is just the vagaries of how it goes, you have to be ready

:51:02. > :51:05.when you get your chance to take it. For me, Judd Trump is maturing as a

:51:06. > :51:09.player as John Higgins said in the interviews, it is not like he hasn't

:51:10. > :51:13.got a second game, that is getting better all the time and the more

:51:14. > :51:15.tactically aware he becomes to balance it out, the more dangerous

:51:16. > :51:19.he will become and there are not that many players of his age group

:51:20. > :51:24.that are best placed to dominate the game, he is in a good position. He

:51:25. > :51:31.is the book is joint favourite, is he one of yours? Certainly one of

:51:32. > :51:35.them. You don't win tournament in the first couple of rounds, you win

:51:36. > :51:40.on the Sunday night. He is one of them and he will be there or

:51:41. > :51:43.thereabouts. Been fantastic this afternoon, Judd Trump out there and

:51:44. > :51:49.we have had the world number one Mark Selby, what of him? He was the

:51:50. > :51:58.champion here in York three years ago and this event, a runner-up on

:51:59. > :52:02.his defence 12 years later. This year, he knows he has got a tough

:52:03. > :52:05.against the charismatic 20-year-old Oliver Lines, the rookie of the year

:52:06. > :52:17.last season. I used to play football at a young

:52:18. > :52:23.age but I used to always spend my school holidays with my dad at the

:52:24. > :52:31.centre and I decided that I just wanted to copy him and placement. --

:52:32. > :52:37.play snooker. Put a lot of time and for me, if I ever need anything or

:52:38. > :52:42.if I am in a bad place. He has always believed in me since I was

:52:43. > :52:46.about 15 and that he has always told me that I will go to the top of the

:52:47. > :52:50.game. When I first turned professional he told me that I will

:52:51. > :52:55.be overtaking him in no time and I have done that now! I can keep

:52:56. > :53:04.going, I will make him proud of me for sure. My dad plays a very

:53:05. > :53:08.defensive game. Compare to me. I have been practising with my dad

:53:09. > :53:14.quite a bit, trying to learn a bit of safety. My dad tells me that my

:53:15. > :53:19.strongest thing is my long potting but working very hard with my dad

:53:20. > :53:25.and my manager to try and work on my brick building because if you can

:53:26. > :53:29.score heavy, you can scare people and they don't like playing safety

:53:30. > :53:33.is very often because if you pot one then that is the end of the frame.

:53:34. > :53:39.I'm very excited, never played in the main arena here in York, only

:53:40. > :53:45.played you twice, but I've been out both times and been in the arena

:53:46. > :53:50.when the crowds are good, it looks unbelievable, so excited.

:53:51. > :53:56.Snicko certainly in the blood in the Lines family, his dad Peter reached

:53:57. > :54:02.the quarterfinals of the event a few years ago. -- snooker.

:54:03. > :54:08.Oliver beat Mark in a major tournament in China and the

:54:09. > :54:12.youngster came down from 4-0 down to win 6-4. That would have crossed

:54:13. > :54:16.their minds that we will see this from the first frame and let's join

:54:17. > :54:26.the commentators to talk us through it.

:54:27. > :54:37.Little bit careless there. That margin for error to get the cue ball

:54:38. > :54:44.seafarer. Little bit nervous. Understandable, I suppose -- to get

:54:45. > :54:49.the cue ball safe there. Going into finals, you would be nervous, what

:54:50. > :54:54.about first-round matches? I think you have to have nerves in order to

:54:55. > :55:01.play your best, first round nerves are different to denounce you get

:55:02. > :55:03.further in the tournament. And finals it is more excitement, you

:55:04. > :55:08.cannot wait to get out there, in the first round, the nerves are negative

:55:09. > :55:13.that you don't want to go out in the first round. Most of them when he

:55:14. > :55:19.played anybody, you are much higher rank than the player you were

:55:20. > :55:27.playing and in age no win situation, like Mark Selby, he is

:55:28. > :55:36.expected to win, they have only played twice and it is 1-1.

:55:37. > :55:45.For the main contenders for this tournament, just getting through the

:55:46. > :55:48.first couple of rounds is the most important thing, always nice to play

:55:49. > :55:57.your best but the result is what matters. Just concentrate.

:55:58. > :56:02.You will want to stamp his authority early on this match, Mark Selby,

:56:03. > :56:12.against his less experienced opponent. Very early on, what order

:56:13. > :56:18.would you put them on, the Masters or the UK? The Masters, for the only

:56:19. > :56:26.reason it used to be a top 16 players in the world. Such a

:56:27. > :56:30.prestigious event. Certainly the three big ones as we call them now,

:56:31. > :56:36.you would set you solid for the season to win them. -- set your

:56:37. > :57:10.stall out. Not a lot missing in Mark Selby's

:57:11. > :57:17.game now. One of the game given great big builders, one of the

:57:18. > :57:23.game's great safety players. He has got everything. When I was still

:57:24. > :57:28.playing, he would score so heavily. Couple of years he started to get

:57:29. > :57:35.bogged down and was playing a more steady, safety percentage game. I

:57:36. > :57:40.much prefer him when he is in amongst the balls scoring heavily

:57:41. > :57:45.with every shot back in the book. You will get an example of some time

:57:46. > :57:57.in the match but he has the best screw up at point fall in the game.

:57:58. > :58:04.-- the best screw at a white ball in the game. As I have said many times

:58:05. > :58:09.on commentary, I never thought he would be this good. Amazing how he

:58:10. > :58:11.has blossomed and that is pure dedication and hard work and

:58:12. > :58:18.deserves everything he gets from that. Quite catch the pink full.

:58:19. > :58:33.That was a shot you developed. Choice of friends to the middle. --

:58:34. > :58:40.choice of reds. If you do a lot with the cue ball, I don't think he is

:58:41. > :58:47.leading a lot should he miss it, no pressure, I would expect him to get

:58:48. > :58:50.it. APPLAUSE That one on the top of the pack,

:58:51. > :58:58.this is some of the stuff that Stephen was talking about. He will

:58:59. > :59:04.play for it this time. Because that one was loose at the back of the

:59:05. > :59:08.pack, when he gets through the pack and the white spends twice, we will

:59:09. > :59:17.see that I'm sure throughout the afternoon. -- spins twice.

:59:18. > :59:25.The two reds on the pink spot, if he hits that join to the red to the

:59:26. > :59:30.left, it would push one to the right hand corner pocket and one to the

:59:31. > :59:33.left. This is a delicate stun into the pack rather than a screw into

:59:34. > :59:38.the pack. There must be another loose one somewhere. Where's that

:59:39. > :59:42.one coming from? Would you play a little cannon there, Steve? It

:59:43. > :59:48.looked a certainty to be on two reds. I can only think his reason is

:59:49. > :59:53.there's three pottable reds and he's thinking he will be at the snookers

:59:54. > :59:58.required stage if potting those. It is almost impossible not for him to

:59:59. > :00:02.be in something and now he's pushed one of the reds that were unsafe. He

:00:03. > :00:24.might be regretting not playing that cannon now.

:00:25. > :00:31.Two more reds and killers required to make absolutely sure. This is all

:00:32. > :00:37.off that safety shot that Steven talked about. Oliver had to put the

:00:38. > :00:40.white anywhere near the green spot area, and overhit it and left that

:00:41. > :01:07.red in the middle. This has been excellent though. Very

:01:08. > :01:11.relaxed and focused. He's very much had the cue ball through this break.

:01:12. > :01:16.When you've gone through the bunch you are relying on a little bit of

:01:17. > :01:42.luck, but all these shots in open play have been played perfectly.

:01:43. > :01:52.That was beautifully played, got the perfect angle on to the black. Both

:01:53. > :02:07.available into the corner. What a way to start. Just a reminder that

:02:08. > :02:14.Bluebell hospice are getting ?10 for every had 00 points. So far they've

:02:15. > :02:23.got ?9,000. That's how many points have been scored so far. ?10 a point

:02:24. > :02:41.above 100. This for the 100. Very well played

:02:42. > :02:47.Mark Selby. What a beautiful break that is. That's ?20 and counting now

:02:48. > :02:56.for the charity. Every point now is ?10. Welcome to the big time for

:02:57. > :03:08.Oliver Lines. One slack safety shot and he sat in his chair. It is

:03:09. > :03:12.amazing how many times the top players, and you and Steve were at

:03:13. > :03:15.your best, the number of times you made a frame-winning break in the

:03:16. > :03:21.first frame was amazing. It would almost be seven out of 10, the first

:03:22. > :03:32.frames would make 80 or point of view. That's the way of stamping

:03:33. > :03:35.your authority on any match. Obviously there were occasions when

:03:36. > :04:16.you were playing me, but that's another story.

:04:17. > :04:26.It goes to 120. The highest break was Stuart on 143. What a fantastic

:04:27. > :04:32.start this is. APPLAUSE. Mark Selby can't get

:04:33. > :04:36.better than that. He stamps his authority on this match straight

:04:37. > :04:42.away and leads by one frame to nil. STUDIO: Selby's ninth century of the

:04:43. > :04:48.season, his second of the week in York. Almost as if saying to the

:04:49. > :04:53.youngster, I'm world number one and don't you forget it. Let's see how

:04:54. > :05:05.Oliver Lines responds. One red is left on the table here. I think he

:05:06. > :05:10.played it like that actually. I think this may red may pass the

:05:11. > :05:16.yellow. Certainly can't hit the left hand drawer, so he would have to put

:05:17. > :05:22.it into the centre of the pocket or favour the right hand jaw. You can

:05:23. > :05:30.only see half of the pocket. Will probably refuse this. He's having a

:05:31. > :05:38.good look. Can only go in-off the right hand jaw.

:05:39. > :05:48.Wow! We had the perfect camera a few moments ago show how little of that

:05:49. > :05:55.pocket was left to play into and it went in as clean as a whistle.

:05:56. > :05:59.Should never had had the opportunity though, should he. A great pot

:06:00. > :06:13.though. Likes to be straight on this yellow

:06:14. > :06:19.to the corner so he can screw back directly for the green. This is now

:06:20. > :06:26.a tricky shot to get nice on the green.

:06:27. > :06:47.Two or three different ways. Lots of right-hand side. Seemed to play that

:06:48. > :06:51.plain ball, so put a touch of side on that. That's why the cue ball

:06:52. > :06:57.hasn't come out this side of the table.

:06:58. > :07:07.It is such an easy safety shot to play but it is also that he would

:07:08. > :07:12.love the play the blue in the middle. The white was another two

:07:13. > :07:17.inches away from the green he would play it into the middle, but it is a

:07:18. > :07:22.little too close, it would make it almost a blind pocket. Still fancies

:07:23. > :07:31.playing it, by the looks of things, but not any more.

:07:32. > :07:39.Should he take the green into the middle? He's having a good look at

:07:40. > :07:42.it again, but not this time. Thin in behind the brown. Cue ball hopefully

:07:43. > :07:52.behind the black or pink. I think he may have left a bit

:07:53. > :08:18.sticking out. There's a perfect angle for the

:08:19. > :08:28.swerve there. Where's the green going? Well, I don't know. You've

:08:29. > :08:32.got make your mind up when playing that shot, either play it very thin

:08:33. > :08:42.or hit it full ball. Unfortunately he did neither.

:08:43. > :09:18.A little bit short of pace, but this is game ball. Selby was in first

:09:19. > :09:23.with a break of 43, and Oliver Lines was on 24. I expected him to score a

:09:24. > :09:29.little bit more. Once again an escape out of the snooker, left the

:09:30. > :09:33.green on, cost him the frame. Mark Selby now leads by two frames to

:09:34. > :09:38.nil. STUDIO: And 2-0 quickly became 3-0

:09:39. > :09:43.with knocks of 46 and 48 and a danger of things running away from

:09:44. > :09:47.the world number 67 as he head into trim 4. Is Selby to play, five

:09:48. > :10:02.points adrift. Not the snooker, surely? Like you

:10:03. > :10:06.when you were number one in the world, Steven, the run of the ball

:10:07. > :10:36.you used to get was unbelievable. APPLAUSE.

:10:37. > :10:49.The only good news is the white is closer to the cushion. He can't do a

:10:50. > :10:59.lot with this cue ball. Always a danger to keep the white in open

:11:00. > :11:31.play there. It's finished OK. But he needs the blue.

:11:32. > :11:55.That's not his best is it? He'll be taking the green on to the black

:11:56. > :11:59.pocket here at this end of the table, screwing back for the brown.

:12:00. > :12:00.It is a natural angle if he plays it in the middle, because he won't kiss

:12:01. > :12:13.the pink. Middle is his choice. The only problem with that shot is

:12:14. > :12:18.going a nice angle on the brown. Should be able to take this off

:12:19. > :12:24.three cushions or certainly the baulk cushion and left-hand side

:12:25. > :12:27.cushion with a lot of bottom. I don't think he'll be planning to

:12:28. > :12:33.move it, because he only needs the blue. He'll be trying to drop the

:12:34. > :12:38.cushion 9 inches beyond the blue. Needs to finish tight on the

:12:39. > :12:47.cushion. If he's not tight he may not play it. This is smelly isn't

:12:48. > :13:00.it? It is one of those, do I or don't I? It has just made it

:13:01. > :13:06.missable. The slower you hit it, gives it every chance of dropping it

:13:07. > :13:16.in, even if it hits the jaws of the pocket.

:13:17. > :13:31.This is a really tricky shot. Give the pocket every chance. Don't play

:13:32. > :13:35.it too hard. That's unbelievable. I don't they if it is the referee or

:13:36. > :13:41.the player, just walked straight out in front of Mark Selby there. That

:13:42. > :13:51.was why the wry smile appeared on his face.

:13:52. > :13:55.APPLAUSE. Very good. He was making sure he gave the pocket every

:13:56. > :13:58.chance. This is a frame that will hurt Oliver Lines more than the

:13:59. > :14:19.other three, because he knows he should have won it.

:14:20. > :14:26.A little bit disappointing for Oliver Lines's supporters, it is 4-0

:14:27. > :14:32.going into the interval. STUDIO: Even after the interval

:14:33. > :14:39.there was no let-up. A break of 78 put him 5-0 in front and so far

:14:40. > :14:44.Oliver Lines has scored 91 against a former champion in relentless mode

:14:45. > :15:43.so far. To frame six, Oliver Lines to break.

:15:44. > :16:04.That was a little bit desperation wasn't it.

:16:05. > :16:25.One good kiss here and the bull's nicely spread.

:16:26. > :17:11.He probably feels the only way he can hold the black on the right-hand

:17:12. > :17:21.side is by kissing into the black. So he needs to kiss this ball. Just

:17:22. > :17:21.push it over the corner. Very, very good.

:17:22. > :17:45.APPLAUSE. Now he can get rid of the red that's

:17:46. > :17:53.causing him a problem and that will open the black to both pockets.

:17:54. > :18:03.The surprising thing is Mark Selby has only made two maximum breaks in

:18:04. > :19:03.tournament play. Some players have made seven, eight and ten.

:19:04. > :19:08.An opportunity to play a cannon here. Always going to get something

:19:09. > :19:32.to the right corner. Probably an angle on the black, to

:19:33. > :19:36.leave a red to the right corner. A bit of a position on the table.

:19:37. > :19:43.Could you get your leg up right that? That's amazing the position

:19:44. > :19:53.he's in there. Got to be fit to get into that position. Maybe he's

:19:54. > :19:59.touching the cue ball, the red is closest to the cue ball the right

:20:00. > :20:04.corner. A choice of two reds here. As we've seed many times in

:20:05. > :20:05.break-building when you play for maximums you couldn't always get

:20:06. > :20:40.pinpoint position. It will be interesting to see

:20:41. > :20:50.whether he doesn't get the red whether he'll play for the black.

:20:51. > :20:56.Looks like he finished OK, so he'll definitely be playing for the black

:20:57. > :21:00.from here. Key now to get a good angle on the black. Sooner rather

:21:01. > :21:04.than later. Leaves those four reds bringing into play. He doesn't want

:21:05. > :21:10.to leave it until the last shot. It is always best to play a cannon into

:21:11. > :21:16.the reds while the reds are still on the. On. If he gets into that joint,

:21:17. > :21:36.they won't be playing for a loose red here.

:21:37. > :21:42.He played that nicely. It is now open to the two reds to the left of

:21:43. > :21:55.centre. A nice margin for error here. A

:21:56. > :22:09.choice of two reds. May have to stun through the gap

:22:10. > :22:17.here between pink and the bunch of four. This to put the frame and

:22:18. > :22:25.match beyond any doubt at all, then he can really knuckle down and...

:22:26. > :22:30.Just needs one kiss to happen here and there should possibly be a

:22:31. > :22:35.maximum break. I was wondering, the four reds, the one furthest to the

:22:36. > :22:39.left finishes that pots to the right centre of the left corner. If that

:22:40. > :22:48.does, there is no need to play any cannons. He has played the cannon

:22:49. > :23:13.and that's OK. This is the one. Going to have to

:23:14. > :23:17.bounce this off the cushion. Once you start playing those with check

:23:18. > :23:19.side it slows the white down. I think he's just got enough. That's a

:23:20. > :24:02.poor shot. Disappointing with that. So far so good. This crowd now

:24:03. > :24:25.realise that 147 is truly on. Oh you're kidding! What a shame.

:24:26. > :24:28.That was an excellent chance, but a very good performance from Mark

:24:29. > :24:39.Selby. He didn't do anything wrong during the match. Missed a few but

:24:40. > :24:45.is a convince a convincing winner by six frames to nil. I think Oliver

:24:46. > :24:51.didn't settle as much as he liked. He was nervous. I knew if I got

:24:52. > :24:54.under a good start I would put him under pressure. I had 136 in the

:24:55. > :24:58.first frame and managed to continue that sort of form throughout the

:24:59. > :25:03.match. A couple of people said it might have been a kick, it might not

:25:04. > :25:08.have been. I think I was concentrating so much on trying to

:25:09. > :25:15.land high on the red I took my eye off the black. He's got great

:25:16. > :25:19.memories of making what was the 100th maximum in snooker a couple of

:25:20. > :25:23.years ago. He got close didn't he? Very close. Sometimes you are

:25:24. > :25:27.concentrating on your next position and you think the black is so easy.

:25:28. > :25:32.Listen, I know all about missing blacks. But yes it was fantastic.

:25:33. > :25:37.Great to see him in really good form. How good did he look to you.

:25:38. > :25:41.133 a fantastic start. As a statement of intent, can't get much

:25:42. > :25:44.better than that Every match you play is a potential banana skin,

:25:45. > :25:49.especially on TV when you are one of the favourites. So to get off to a

:25:50. > :25:53.good start is always good for the morale of the player. It put Oliver

:25:54. > :25:57.firmly in his place. As the game got on it is not easy to dig yourself

:25:58. > :26:01.out of that hole. From Oliver's perspective, I wouldn't even say it

:26:02. > :26:05.is a learning curve. He won't have liked that but it will probably give

:26:06. > :26:10.him more resolve to dig in here. It is not something that's going to

:26:11. > :26:14.drop his head for long before he's back on the practise table. Down the

:26:15. > :26:17.line with match play on TV, he'll get used to it totally and then

:26:18. > :26:24.you'll see a different Oliver Lines, because he's a great player. He's

:26:25. > :26:30.had some notable scalps this season already, Ali Carter and a certain

:26:31. > :26:34.Ken Docherty? He certainly has. He's a great cueist. Sometimes bad

:26:35. > :26:40.experiences can be good ones. He's in front of the crowd and on TV, and

:26:41. > :26:51.he will learn frit. He's one for the future, no doubt about that. Mark

:26:52. > :26:55.goes on to play Jamie Jones or Xiao Guodong. Plenty has been happening

:26:56. > :27:04.here today. In fact this is what's been going on. Mark Alan, who won in

:27:05. > :27:09.Bulgaria and was a runner-up in the champion of champions, and Ali

:27:10. > :27:13.Carter 6-3 against Daniel Wells of Wales. Mark Joyce-2 against Sydney

:27:14. > :27:18.Wilson, a first-timer on the circuit this season. Michael Holt has teamed

:27:19. > :27:22.up with his coach this season to rather good effect. He's had some

:27:23. > :27:26.very good wins already this season. That's another one over Chris

:27:27. > :27:30.Wakelin. It will be interesting to see how Michael goes under the

:27:31. > :27:35.tutelage of Terry over the next few months. Matthew Selt, surely one of

:27:36. > :27:42.the most improved players over the last 12 months. A good win over Sean

:27:43. > :27:49.O'Sullivan. And Ryan Day, that's a surprise. He was the man that was in

:27:50. > :27:53.the final in Bulgaria with Mark Allen, who was beaten by Dechawat

:27:54. > :27:58.Poomjaeng. Tonight there's more high-class stuff coming your way as

:27:59. > :28:02.Australia's Neil Robertson fakes on India's hugely talented Aditya

:28:03. > :28:13.Mehta. Neil is calling that one the clash of the vegans, by the way.

:28:14. > :28:19.Maguire has to overcome Jamie Cope this evening. You can see the

:28:20. > :28:23.evening session's action on both the red Button and the BBC Sport

:28:24. > :28:27.website. If you fancy a late night,ly be back much, much later

:28:28. > :28:31.with highlights of it all at midnight. But in the meantime from

:28:32. > :28:33.Ken and Steve, me and the team, thank you for your company. Catch

:28:34. > :28:36.you soon. Bye-bye.
