0:00:34 > 0:00:41Good afternoon, what a mad weekend at the Barbican Centre in the first

0:00:41 > 0:00:47snooker major of the year. 32 matches at the weekend. Producing an

0:00:47 > 0:00:52epic accounts with big surprises. Goodbye Mark Selby. Some big breaks,

0:00:52 > 0:01:00goodbye to a maximum break from Mark King who missed on the pink. And

0:01:00 > 0:01:05some cracking deciders. It didn't wrap up until 12:30am.

0:01:05 > 0:01:15Things have changed since. The second arena has now turned into the

0:01:15 > 0:01:19practice facility. All eyes will be on the main arena

0:01:19 > 0:01:27for the four tables and 32 players. We have unpacked our boxers into our

0:01:27 > 0:01:30studio home for the next few days. Great.

0:01:30 > 0:01:33Who has the kettle?

0:01:38 > 0:01:42We will be sitting back and marvelling at Judd Trump, now the

0:01:42 > 0:01:51highest seed left. What a fascinating game he faces

0:01:51 > 0:01:58against one of the wiliest craftsman, Graeme Dott.

0:01:58 > 0:02:04And all Welsh match between Mark Williams who took the most recent in

0:02:04 > 0:02:09Belfast last Sunday. Ryan Day won the opening event in

0:02:09 > 0:02:17Riga, his first title in 20 years as a pro.

0:02:17 > 0:02:28If you have any questions for our expert team, they can be contacted

0:02:28 > 0:02:31on our hashtag. This afternoon we have four matches.

0:02:41 > 0:02:48Stephen Maguire won the title in 2004. Marco Fu finds himself having

0:02:48 > 0:02:56to fight off another talent who has only just left his teenage years.

0:02:56 > 0:03:04It is a lot longer then -- since these two left their teenage years.

0:03:07 > 0:03:13Even the referees are younger than us. A great line-up. All the action

0:03:13 > 0:03:19in the main arena, far more desirable for the players.

0:03:19 > 0:03:25This is where the players want to be playing. Down to the business end of

0:03:25 > 0:03:28the tournament. We have lost a couple of top players.

0:03:28 > 0:03:34What a line-up still. You nearly got over the line against

0:03:34 > 0:03:38Jimmy Robinson. Lost at the final hurdle.

0:03:38 > 0:03:44Three former winners in action, Stephen Maguire on table number

0:03:44 > 0:03:52three. Mark Williams will be floating

0:03:52 > 0:03:56around the table. Great to see him back at winning ways in Northern

0:03:56 > 0:04:02Ireland. It will be a real cracker.

0:04:02 > 0:04:09Here, Judd Trump, is it fair to say, the most astonishing shotmaker since

0:04:09 > 0:04:12Alex Higgins? Without question, his power is more

0:04:12 > 0:04:17than any other player by a considerable margin. Real fireworks.

0:04:17 > 0:04:24Graeme Dott is a tough Scots, three times a world finalist, he has won

0:04:24 > 0:04:29the World Championships in 2006, out of the limelight but now back on

0:04:29 > 0:04:30centre stage.

0:04:37 > 0:04:41You don't get as many highs as those in snooker, which you learn as you

0:04:41 > 0:04:47come through. It is how you deal with them. You have to keep out the

0:04:47 > 0:04:52back. It is hard to play if you are not mentally right. It is a mental

0:04:52 > 0:05:00game, snooker. I don't enjoy the practising as

0:05:00 > 0:05:06much. It is a living! I am finding it hard

0:05:06 > 0:05:14to deal with playing on outside tables, going into a match and no

0:05:14 > 0:05:17one is watching you, that is tough to deal with.

0:05:17 > 0:05:27But you have to do it. I can't complain. The players are higher

0:05:27 > 0:05:35rank than me. I played against Dominic Dale which wasn't even in

0:05:35 > 0:05:39the venue. You're desperate to win so you are

0:05:39 > 0:05:45back in the arena. I'm delighted to get through. It is

0:05:45 > 0:05:53always nice to get back in, I feel at home.

0:05:53 > 0:06:01I need to play well to win. Earlier this season he properly

0:06:01 > 0:06:08played the best ever. It would be nice to get a good round in the BBC

0:06:08 > 0:06:11event. Last year I didn't do well in any of them. You build your season

0:06:11 > 0:06:18to hopefully do well in front of the big audiences in your own country.

0:06:18 > 0:06:22If you have never won a tournament, you might be happy with the

0:06:22 > 0:06:27quarterfinal. Otherwise, you are here to win the tournament. I have

0:06:27 > 0:06:32been playing low enough to know there is a gradual process.

0:06:32 > 0:06:39Last 16 is all I have got to. You are always trying to win it.

0:06:41 > 0:06:47We are dealing with the current world two and a former number two.

0:06:47 > 0:06:51His levels of class and craft are still formidable.

0:06:55 > 0:06:59There is 12 years between them but a yawning gulf also in their styles of

0:06:59 > 0:07:05play. I wonder what the view from the commentary box is in that

0:07:05 > 0:07:06difference in styles.

0:07:09 > 0:07:14You know what you will get big Graeme Dott, he plays the right

0:07:14 > 0:07:18shots to the right standard. Great to see him in the main auditorium. I

0:07:18 > 0:07:23am sure it will get his juices flowing.

0:07:23 > 0:07:32We know about Judd and his power, but Graeme Dott, his craft is

0:07:32 > 0:07:36fluent, what questions can he asked of Judd today?

0:07:36 > 0:07:41It depends on the start, if Judd gets off to a flying start, he could

0:07:41 > 0:07:48run away with it. If Graeme ties him down to a more tactical game, that

0:07:48 > 0:07:54will suit Graeme. You wonder if Judd respects the players. Judd will

0:07:54 > 0:08:00expect to blow him away. He is a proven class winner of the World

0:08:00 > 0:08:06Championship. Also he will remember he lost to

0:08:06 > 0:08:12Graeme Dott a couple of months ago. Round three in China. This is a

0:08:12 > 0:08:16proper examination of Judd if he doesn't do his work.

0:08:16 > 0:08:24Judd is now the top seed remaining, Mark Selby has gone, Ding has gone.

0:08:24 > 0:08:29Big expectation. In my opinion he is an under achiever. I commented his

0:08:29 > 0:08:36first match but he still won 6-0. But he will be under pressure today.

0:08:36 > 0:08:42Eight players in action today. Here is the MC Rob Walker.

0:08:42 > 0:08:49Good afternoon. We started last week with 128, now 32 remain with a

0:08:49 > 0:08:58chance of becoming Betway UK champion. Have four for world-class

0:08:58 > 0:09:01players waiting to take place in the last 16.

0:09:14 > 0:09:18Please welcome first of all a man who deservedly climbed the ranking

0:09:18 > 0:09:24event mountain earlier this season in this his 20th year as a pro, his

0:09:24 > 0:09:30fifth ranking final, and finally he did it, the Riga Masters champion, a

0:09:30 > 0:09:39huge achievement, so here comes Ryan Day!

0:09:42 > 0:09:45APPLAUSE

0:09:50 > 0:09:54And his opponent, a man who a year ago in York joked he should be

0:09:54 > 0:09:59introduced as the Welsh has been. Just a week ago he won the northern

0:09:59 > 0:10:04Island open in dramatic fashion, his 19th ranking title, his first six

0:10:04 > 0:10:15years, he reminded us all he is still quite good! Mark Williams!

0:10:21 > 0:10:23APPLAUSE

0:10:28 > 0:10:33On table one, a player emerging in his 24th collective UK campaign,

0:10:33 > 0:10:40here after victory over Dominic Dale in their decider, world champion in

0:10:40 > 0:10:482006, the pocket dynamo, Graeme Dott!

0:11:00 > 0:11:04And finally, arguably the most exciting player of his generation,

0:11:04 > 0:11:08yet to concede a frame in this year's championship, he won a

0:11:08 > 0:11:14classic final against Mark Allen in 2011 and this season he successfully

0:11:14 > 0:11:20defended his European Masters crown. Here he is with his legendary brand

0:11:20 > 0:11:31of naughty snooker, the ace in the pack, Judd Trump!

0:11:35 > 0:11:44STUDIO:Some cheeky interruptions from Rob Walker.

0:11:44 > 0:11:49The Welsh derby is on table two live on the red button.

0:11:49 > 0:11:55We will keep me posted on that throughout. Stephen and John, it is

0:11:55 > 0:12:01all yours. COMMENTATOR: Welcome to everybody

0:12:01 > 0:12:04for what should be a fascinating encounter.

0:12:04 > 0:12:10Looking forward to this one. Judd Trump, of course, a very exciting

0:12:10 > 0:12:16and opening attacking player.

0:12:19 > 0:12:24Good to see him back out in the arena, Graeme Dott.

0:12:24 > 0:12:29Stephen? The sort of match Graeme Dott will be up for, playing against

0:12:29 > 0:12:37one of the high-profile players of today's game. He will be up for the

0:12:37 > 0:12:38challenge.

0:13:05 > 0:13:10That is an excellent shot from Graeme Dott, that is really good.

0:13:10 > 0:13:14The break from Judd was awkward but to play that after two cushions and

0:13:14 > 0:13:18get the cue ball back, that is excellent. You can see Judd

0:13:18 > 0:13:22appreciated it.

0:13:31 > 0:13:38A little lucky. Slightly too thick.

0:13:45 > 0:13:49Amazing to think, Stephen, he turned pro in 2005, he has been around

0:13:49 > 0:13:54quite a while. Really, the UK and the world and the Masters is what

0:13:54 > 0:13:58players are judged by, he has managed to win a UK but you would

0:13:58 > 0:14:03think his record would be better than that.

0:14:03 > 0:14:07He lost in the final two John Higgins in the World Championship.

0:14:07 > 0:14:12Most in the game thought he would be a future world champion quite

0:14:12 > 0:14:19quickly. It hasn't happened. In terms of snooker talent, there are

0:14:19 > 0:14:32few better with tube power to die for. -- cue. In his first match, his

0:14:32 > 0:14:37long ball playing was way off the mark for him. Perhaps the

0:14:37 > 0:14:42concentration wasn't up there. You would think yesterday he spent time

0:14:42 > 0:14:50at the practice table. For the likes of yourself, if you

0:14:50 > 0:14:56turn up at a tournament and people often say if it isn't there, you

0:14:56 > 0:15:02won't find it. But you can if you put a few hours in, something

0:15:02 > 0:15:10clicks, your long game can return. It is not how you want to turn --

0:15:10 > 0:15:16start a tournament with your long game so badly off.

0:15:16 > 0:15:23Critically when it is a part of his game he relies on to create chances.

0:15:23 > 0:15:26A major part of his armoury. That was an excellent safety shot by Judd

0:15:26 > 0:15:34Trump. It has forced a mistake. At first glance, and a wave of the hand

0:15:34 > 0:15:42from Graeme, he thinks he has got away with it.

0:15:42 > 0:15:451-1 in the lucky stakes, that is for sure.

0:16:14 > 0:16:20Playing off the red below the pink spot. He needs a good cue ball.

0:16:20 > 0:16:24Slightly thicker than he would have liked. Hence the cue ball pulling

0:16:24 > 0:16:28out there.

0:16:32 > 0:16:38There is a choice but it is finding a path for the cue ball.

0:16:38 > 0:16:42We will see whether that long game has come back.

0:16:42 > 0:16:47He always aims on the right hand side of the cue ball. Swinging it

0:16:47 > 0:16:56across. That is a big improvement from his first round. A great pot,

0:16:56 > 0:16:58look at what he is leaving.

0:17:04 > 0:17:10A nice shot as well. First scoring opportunity to Judd Trump.

0:17:29 > 0:17:36That was well controlled. He has played a very good long pot.He came

0:17:36 > 0:17:42through the gap. Setting up a cannon on the left of

0:17:42 > 0:17:48the black. He could have played it either way, Kristian first all

0:17:48 > 0:17:53directly. -- cushion.

0:17:57 > 0:18:02After some good positional shots, he has a decent chance.

0:18:09 > 0:18:13From his first match I can tell from his body language, the look on his

0:18:13 > 0:18:18face, he looks much more focused already.

0:18:22 > 0:18:29I think he knows he has got to be. No disrespect to his other opponent,

0:18:29 > 0:18:34this is a big step up against Graeme Dott. We know what he's capable of.

0:18:34 > 0:18:38You never reach three wild finals if you don't know your way around a

0:18:38 > 0:18:43snooker table. He was champion as well. That epic match with Peter

0:18:43 > 0:18:44Ebdon.

0:19:08 > 0:19:12Well controlled, playing with a bit of Czech side. What has been

0:19:12 > 0:19:18noticeable this week is the cushions are bouncing very uniformly. That

0:19:18 > 0:19:22was a candidate if you weren't careful. But bouncing really nicely

0:19:22 > 0:19:27this week. A lovely bit of Czech side to hold it up. He may have two

0:19:27 > 0:19:42split the reds here -- check side. Though, that will do.

0:19:57 > 0:20:07Because this break has been pretty awkward with the positions of the

0:20:07 > 0:20:16reds,... We hadn't even noticed it was five reds and five blacks. This

0:20:16 > 0:20:27might be the end of it here, is he going off the blue? The priority is

0:20:27 > 0:20:31certainly in the first frame of the match to make a frame-winning

0:20:31 > 0:20:38contribution. If you have a chance to go for the match, great, but make

0:20:38 > 0:20:43sure you get up into the late 70s or 80s. Get the frame on the board. It

0:20:43 > 0:20:49would be some effort to make a maximum the way the balls are

0:20:49 > 0:20:53positioned, three on the left-hand side will be problematic. Just when

0:20:53 > 0:21:14the frame first. -- win.An excellent start, all from that long

0:21:14 > 0:21:20read. Stunning through the gap in the reds.

0:21:20 > 0:21:23He could have finished on nothing. He has the table straightaway with

0:21:23 > 0:21:30that shot. Just got to be careful here not to get the cannon on the

0:21:30 > 0:21:35red that is below. That was the one. He didn't need that flick.

0:21:40 > 0:21:49Still on this black. A touch of the left-hand side. Well played.

0:22:00 > 0:22:10The maximum is over. That is telling me straightaway he is focused. He

0:22:10 > 0:22:13didn't even look at the red in the middle to go across, it was all

0:22:13 > 0:22:18about making the break, winning the first frame. He is thinking clearly.

0:22:21 > 0:22:25You wouldn't have refused it, would you?

0:22:29 > 0:22:34I would have had a little think, and being tempted.

0:22:34 > 0:22:38As you say, a sign he has come out to win this

0:23:03 > 0:23:09Highest break at the moment 142 by the Welshman Michael White.

0:23:34 > 0:23:40A superb contribution. The opening red set this break up a bike in the

0:23:40 > 0:23:44centre of the pocket, a little bit of stagger on the tubal, couldn't

0:23:44 > 0:23:52have hit it better. Oh! It is not to be. But a fantastic start from Judd

0:23:52 > 0:23:58Trump. Wonderful positional play. First frame with a break of 93, he

0:23:58 > 0:24:04leads 1-0. STUDIO:Some interesting

0:24:04 > 0:24:05observations.

0:24:10 > 0:24:14About the way Judd plays across the ball.

0:24:14 > 0:24:19He addresses it to the right-hand side. On delivery, watch the cue, it

0:24:19 > 0:24:21it goes to our right.

0:24:24 > 0:24:29The main point is he delivers on line. He just sights it to his right

0:24:29 > 0:24:34hand side. Graeme Dott in the last year has tried to chain his eyes to

0:24:34 > 0:24:38find the middle of the cue ball. It is a theoretical problem, you

0:24:38 > 0:24:46could argue nobody goes through straight. It is desirable to set up

0:24:46 > 0:24:50in the middle, put it back online and deliver it at to the point you

0:24:50 > 0:24:54were originally at but not every player does it. It is possible as

0:24:54 > 0:24:59long as you time the ball properly and go through to that same point,

0:24:59 > 0:25:05you can play with a cue action that goes through on a curve.

0:25:05 > 0:25:09Have you betrayed yourself? No, I hit the ball around corners!

0:25:14 > 0:25:19COMMENTATOR: They are far too modest in there, he hits the ball pretty

0:25:19 > 0:25:27well, always has done. Interesting the way, and we will see it again,

0:25:27 > 0:25:32basically people have one eye stronger than the other. It is what

0:25:32 > 0:25:39you see. But it is about timing. On the right of the cue ball again.

0:25:47 > 0:25:52With Judd Trump, if he doesn't type it properly, he misses long shots by

0:25:52 > 0:25:54a mile.

0:25:56 > 0:26:00A long way off.

0:26:10 > 0:26:16May be tempted by the double. The only one he could really leave.

0:26:19 > 0:26:26Worth a shot. If it passes the blue, which it certainly does, between

0:26:26 > 0:26:30blue and yellow, Judd will be taking this.

0:26:37 > 0:26:44A chance missed. A very big chance, the natural angle to spin it and he

0:26:44 > 0:26:49could have come into the pack. A bigger chance than it looked.

0:27:05 > 0:27:12No, he hasn't done. It was pretty close. It makes this shot so much

0:27:12 > 0:27:14more comfortable.

0:27:37 > 0:27:39Not particularly close from Judd.

0:27:47 > 0:27:52I can think Graeme is looking at the red of the other red into the middle

0:27:52 > 0:28:06pocket, or is he? He might be. Has it in the other corner. The other

0:28:06 > 0:28:15option. Straight in as well. It was worth it, good shot.

0:28:15 > 0:28:25A clever little shot. Actually an excellent positional shot.

0:28:45 > 0:28:50Pink is going to the back of the pack, it would fit on the spot. So,

0:28:50 > 0:28:56Graeme, it is a pretty big target, if he can get on the yellow, he has

0:28:56 > 0:29:03a choice of any of those Balkan colours. Hutcheon baulk colours. A

0:29:03 > 0:29:09pretty big pack to go into. I would love the yellow. The left-hand side,

0:29:09 > 0:29:15lovely to come into with a bit of pace. Some people go the other way.

0:29:15 > 0:29:18I'll be surprised if he doesn't hit them.

0:29:27 > 0:29:31That is a poor shot, he didn't get anything into the cue ball, he

0:29:31 > 0:29:38needed to hit it lower. You need to get into the cue ball more than

0:29:38 > 0:29:39that.

0:29:58 > 0:30:04No prizes for guessing what Judd Trump will do with this blue. A big

0:30:04 > 0:30:12target. Those four reds across the top of the pack. In the middle of

0:30:12 > 0:30:16those, at pace, the reds should go everywhere. He hit them perfectly.

0:30:23 > 0:30:27When he splits up, watch the double-kiss.

0:30:27 > 0:30:35Coming off the cushion, will go into the pack. Watch... Bingo. That's

0:30:35 > 0:30:39absolutely lovely.

0:31:06 > 0:31:11Those two reds, that of course opens up the pocket for the other red. A

0:31:11 > 0:31:15cannon here into the cluster of three, it would be nice to keep the

0:31:15 > 0:31:20red on the right-hand side nearest to the cue ball. This is an

0:31:20 > 0:31:25excellent chance. One or two shots at long pots at the

0:31:25 > 0:31:29start of this frame. Didn't get particularly close, now got the

0:31:29 > 0:31:41chance close in to score a few.

0:32:07 > 0:32:11Wiped his feet.

0:32:15 > 0:32:18Just slightly lost the cue ball the last couple of shots. Shouldn't be a

0:32:18 > 0:32:29problem to get it back.

0:32:57 > 0:33:02He's played that perfectly. Thought he might have put a cannon into

0:33:02 > 0:33:07these two reds. A perfect angle, just a drop on the pink.

0:33:07 > 0:33:12Did mention at the start of the match that before the match started

0:33:12 > 0:33:19could Judd get a quick start. He is doing. He's a very good

0:33:19 > 0:33:20frontrunner.

0:33:22 > 0:33:27Just hit that last red slightly too hard, leaving himself slightly

0:33:27 > 0:33:37awkward angle.

0:33:41 > 0:33:45Take the outside red now, not out far enough with the cue ball.

0:33:50 > 0:34:02That's as good a shot as he played in the break.

0:34:20 > 0:34:25This is not necessarily Graeme Dott wanted to see in this match. Too

0:34:25 > 0:34:29experienced for any alarm bells to be going off yet. He wouldn't want

0:34:29 > 0:34:34to see someone like Judd Trump get into a flow.

0:34:34 > 0:34:39Not panic yet. But 3-0 might be. So he knows how big the next frame is

0:34:39 > 0:34:45going to be. This one looks like it's gone.

0:34:45 > 0:34:5260 ahead. 51 remaining. Just dropped the red in the middle.

0:34:52 > 0:35:00Well noticed.

0:35:16 > 0:35:20He's already tuned up a lot better than the other day - that's for

0:35:20 > 0:35:24sure.

0:35:31 > 0:35:42Looking in very good scoring form.

0:35:50 > 0:35:5473 and 78, very impressive from Judd Trump so far. It is Graeme Dott,

0:35:54 > 0:35:562-0.

0:36:01 > 0:36:05You are spotting some interesting points. Compare with the other

0:36:05 > 0:36:13players on the he circuit, what does he possess? What he does, is a

0:36:13 > 0:36:16combination of power and control in the modern game. Look

0:36:18 > 0:36:22Look at the cue ball after it hits the reds. It comes back an inch or

0:36:22 > 0:36:26twosmt it is the timing he's got. It is the control and combined with the

0:36:26 > 0:36:29power that gets him to get the action on the cue ball. There's not

0:36:29 > 0:36:33that many players in the game, in fact there isn't any that have that

0:36:33 > 0:36:38kind of power. But it is harnessing it in the correct way, isn't it?

0:36:40 > 0:36:45It is easy to hit it if you can hit it hard. If you can generate a lot

0:36:45 > 0:36:49of power with less body movement you have a big advantage over somebody

0:36:49 > 0:36:54who has to give everything to get the shot in.If that power is not

0:36:54 > 0:36:59harnessed correctly you can get into problems of a consequence of hitting

0:36:59 > 0:37:05it hard.He shot on his backswing and maintained the power, which is

0:37:05 > 0:37:11impressive. You would think it would take your power away, but it doesn't

0:37:11 > 0:37:15seem to with him.He's a big-occasion player. Stephen said he

0:37:15 > 0:37:19had to up his game from the last round. I think now he's on the

0:37:19 > 0:37:23centre stage it does help. He's up against another big-occasion player

0:37:23 > 0:37:27in Graeme Dott. You cannot do much from the chair and that what he's

0:37:27 > 0:37:33had to do so far.He knows he has it all to do. He's gone out to compose

0:37:33 > 0:37:37himself. In those circumstances you are not geeing yourself up, but what

0:37:37 > 0:37:40is the process by which you start to talk to yourself when things are

0:37:40 > 0:37:44like this? He's been sitting down for so long it is nice to walk

0:37:44 > 0:37:47around. You cannot walk around the table, so have a walk out and come

0:37:47 > 0:37:59back.Start afresh. He starts from 2-0 down.

0:38:01 > 0:38:07THE COMMENTATOR: You cannot say he's done that much wrong, he's not had

0:38:07 > 0:38:12his hand on the table with any chance. Once he got in the second,

0:38:12 > 0:38:16he's made a frame-winning contribution. So it is not like he's

0:38:16 > 0:38:22done a massive amount wrong. You can see 175-8. It is just he's not had

0:38:22 > 0:38:27any table time.

0:38:31 > 0:38:38You mentioned John, he could have taken the yellow. A green. Went in

0:38:38 > 0:38:41off. You could say it is a tough game at this level. Those are the

0:38:41 > 0:38:46chances you have to take. Ended up costing him the frame.

0:38:46 > 0:38:52There wasn't a lot on.

0:38:56 > 0:39:00And that is an excellent safety shot from Judd. That is one thing that

0:39:00 > 0:39:04definitely has got better. When he puts his mind to it he can play good

0:39:04 > 0:39:09safety. It is difficult sometimes when you have that much power your

0:39:09 > 0:39:12armoury and that much scoring ability that sometimes you think you

0:39:12 > 0:39:18don't have to play a bit of safety. That was very good there.

0:39:18 > 0:39:25He's forced a mistake from Graham. He knew he was in trouble there.

0:39:34 > 0:39:34Eme.

0:39:37 > 0:39:47Could possibly drop it in and cannon the red. I think ... Oh, it is what

0:39:47 > 0:39:51he's done.

0:39:52 > 0:40:01So error. This is a chance for Graeme Dott.

0:40:01 > 0:40:06I think he's playing for the gap here.

0:40:06 > 0:40:14Mind you, at the same time, to knock it in, but anyway it has happened

0:40:14 > 0:40:18and this is the first chance Graeme's got his happened on the

0:40:18 > 0:40:24table with a decent chance among the balls. Got to score.

0:40:24 > 0:40:28That wouldn't have filled him with much confidence the way he hit that

0:40:28 > 0:40:33black. He almost missed it. Sometimes that can sharpen up your

0:40:33 > 0:40:40concentration to get away with one. He's left a decent angle. As you

0:40:40 > 0:40:47say, we used all the draw there. Should be going into the pack here.

0:40:47 > 0:40:51Get some balls in play.

0:40:57 > 0:41:08Didn't hit that exactly how he would have liked, but it's turned out OK.

0:41:08 > 0:41:13I think today the only way he will put pressure on is if he can win

0:41:13 > 0:41:19frames in one visit. If he does taking one or three chances it will

0:41:19 > 0:41:26not put tremendous pressure on Judd Trump. Nothing puts pressure on an

0:41:26 > 0:41:30opponent more than making him sit in his chair for one visit.

0:41:30 > 0:41:35The last red Graeme played there was a good one to get out of the way.

0:41:35 > 0:41:39Two lefts, now both pot in the opposite corner, which is what he's

0:41:39 > 0:41:43played on now. Played on an area to give himself options. Because he

0:41:43 > 0:41:58removed that last red this one goes. Turned into a good chance.

0:41:59 > 0:42:07Sort of willing the pots in. You can see this one, a bit of body

0:42:07 > 0:42:19movement there. Just needs to calm down a bit.

0:42:27 > 0:42:31His cueing action just looks a little bit on the short side at the

0:42:31 > 0:42:38minute, like he's a little bit anxious.I mean you have to think

0:42:38 > 0:42:42he's not... He must have been trying to cannon the red as close to the

0:42:42 > 0:42:45cue ball. Don't know what he played. This could work out all right for

0:42:45 > 0:42:49him though. He's on a plant at the back here that can be made. Got to

0:42:49 > 0:42:54take it on. Just double-checking on it. But he

0:42:54 > 0:42:58can play this nice and firm. Open all the reds out. As long as you

0:42:58 > 0:43:08make the pots, which he should do, makes the chance even better.

0:43:11 > 0:43:17A little bit fortunate there. Poor positional shot. Now one good pot on

0:43:17 > 0:43:27the blue. It should be his frame.

0:43:35 > 0:43:41Again not a perfect position. Still got to play a shot here.

0:43:44 > 0:43:48One perfect positional shot away from this being perhaps a

0:43:48 > 0:44:01frame-winning chance. That should be it.

0:44:01 > 0:44:05He had a wobble in the middle of the break when he lost the cue ball for

0:44:05 > 0:44:11a while, but he's got it back now. And this will settle him down.

0:44:11 > 0:44:20Winning it in one visit, Stephen, makes all the difference.

0:44:20 > 0:44:25Also shows your opponent that you are capable of scoring on the day.

0:44:25 > 0:44:35It has been very impressive so far. It is his turn to watch now.

0:44:49 > 0:45:00Again not ideal on this red. Three or four pots away from

0:45:00 > 0:45:09securing this third frame. That little shot there suits Graeme

0:45:09 > 0:45:16Dott's action there. No excuse now. This is bread and but tore a

0:45:16 > 0:45:24top-class professional, like Graeme is.

0:45:29 > 0:45:35He doesn't waste much time Graeme Dott. When he's in, quite a fast

0:45:35 > 0:45:39player, really. I think it makes a difference to his

0:45:39 > 0:45:43game, if I am being honest. A couple of seasons he went slower and it

0:45:43 > 0:45:46looked more like hard work for Graeme. When he's at his best this

0:45:46 > 0:45:59is what he plays like, because he is a fluent scorer when he gets going.

0:46:00 > 0:46:08I think he became a better player after he won the World Championship.

0:46:08 > 0:46:16Became more aggressive.

0:46:38 > 0:46:43Would have been saying, I need to win this in one visit and that's

0:46:43 > 0:46:49exactly what he's done. Averted a potential 3-0 deficit with

0:46:49 > 0:46:53this contribution, so good stuff from him. Couldn't be more

0:46:53 > 0:47:00confident.

0:47:04 > 0:47:13As hard address you can, -- as hard as you can Graeme, you might get it.

0:47:13 > 0:47:20Not there. Just when he needed it. Could have been going 3-0 behind. A

0:47:20 > 0:47:30wonderful contribution of 86 and it is 2-1 to Judd Trump.

0:47:33 > 0:47:40That exit seems to have paid up. . That frame more than any other,

0:47:40 > 0:47:46small things made huge difference in this game. Judd flicks the red,

0:47:46 > 0:47:50Graeme gets in, has a chance. He's taken a gutsy, that is what it was,

0:47:50 > 0:47:54he's sat in his chair, as Steve mentioned first couple of frames and

0:47:54 > 0:48:01his arm was getling twitchy. Took it well. The black didn't go in the

0:48:01 > 0:48:05middle of the pocket. A player under pressure but having enough character

0:48:05 > 0:48:09to withstand that and get the ball in the hole. A few positional shots

0:48:09 > 0:48:12might have gone wrong, but he recovered very well. You don't get

0:48:12 > 0:48:17to three world finals without being a fantastic player.Yes, exactly.

0:48:17 > 0:48:24He's come back from some precarious positions. He's had a bit of a rough

0:48:24 > 0:48:30time. He didn't enjoy last season. He had to prequelfy for the

0:48:30 > 0:48:36cruisable. He went out to Barry Hawkins. He was pleased to see the

0:48:36 > 0:48:40end of that season. How much has he done with Chris Henry to get things

0:48:40 > 0:48:55moving again. He went to brurge. It gave him motivation and something to

0:48:55 > 0:48:59settle on.This is the last one before the interval.

0:49:03 > 0:49:08THE COMMENTATOR: Got very lucky. Brought the red up the table and

0:49:08 > 0:49:13managed to snooker Judd behind a yellow.

0:49:17 > 0:49:30Knocked close with the long ball. A chance for Graeme.

0:49:38 > 0:49:42If you think this doesn't mean anything from Graeme, that's just

0:49:42 > 0:49:53from a poor break off.

0:50:00 > 0:50:06He once smashed his cue in a motorway services when he got beaten

0:50:06 > 0:50:12in a match. Must have taken it a bit badly.Everyone in snooker knows how

0:50:12 > 0:50:15much Graeme Dott will be up for this match today. That proves it, that

0:50:15 > 0:50:25reaction.

0:50:27 > 0:50:33He absolutely believes he can beat Judd today. So the decision, brown,

0:50:33 > 0:50:37into the bunch - that's the shot. I was going to say, when you play

0:50:37 > 0:50:41for the brown, some would play for the red above the pink but you have

0:50:41 > 0:50:49to go into the pack a bit later.

0:50:50 > 0:50:56It is OK. He didn't hit the red he intended to. Hit the main bunch, but

0:50:56 > 0:51:00he'll be quite happy with the result. Just catches one of the

0:51:00 > 0:51:04outside ones. Absolutely, the right shot all day

0:51:04 > 0:51:09long. Playing there.

0:51:21 > 0:51:28This will tell us whether Graeme has settled down.Plays this with a dab

0:51:28 > 0:51:38of the left-hand side. Just not got that cue ball on a

0:51:38 > 0:51:41string, the break. Two or three times he wasn't in a perfect

0:51:41 > 0:51:45position to rescue the situation. It is the same here. Just happens to

0:51:45 > 0:51:52play good shots all the time.Just hard when you are scrapping for

0:51:52 > 0:51:59breaks all the time. Either want the cue ball perfect, just a break of 86

0:51:59 > 0:52:02from Graeme in the last - the highest he's made in the tournament

0:52:02 > 0:52:08so far. It was the first frame that Judd has lost. A couple of

0:52:08 > 0:52:16whitewashes. But you do need that cue ball to be nice and tight.

0:52:16 > 0:52:21This is not straightforward. Obviously you wouldn't expect him to

0:52:21 > 0:52:25miss the pot, but the position here is awkward. He's almost too straight

0:52:25 > 0:52:30to go around the angles to go to blue for left middle. There is a

0:52:30 > 0:52:40chance he could on the black, but... It was awkward, all caused by a

0:52:40 > 0:52:51straightforward shot on the black. On these cloths, when there's very

0:52:51 > 0:52:58little now, the side can throw off and not come back and that's what

0:52:58 > 0:53:03happened there. He'll be kicking himself, he really will. Nothing

0:53:03 > 0:53:07worse when they've all been there for you and you present them to your

0:53:07 > 0:53:13opponent.

0:53:14 > 0:53:19Doesn't go to the left corner, so that would be the red he would be

0:53:19 > 0:53:26playing for.

0:53:28 > 0:53:36Hit that one nicely. Sure did. A couple of options, that

0:53:36 > 0:53:46one on the left and one you can see at the gap at the other end of the

0:53:46 > 0:53:48pack there.

0:53:56 > 0:54:01That is nicely struck and played. A little bit of run inside. A

0:54:01 > 0:54:04guarantee he would be on blue or baulk colour.

0:54:04 > 0:54:08A bit of work to be done with this T a few balls in the open, we know.

0:54:08 > 0:54:11But not easy to score, as yet.

0:54:26 > 0:54:31If he landed on the red above the black he could pot it and play a

0:54:31 > 0:54:36cannon and flick the other red away. I don't know if the cue ball's come

0:54:36 > 0:54:40down far enough. Maybe it has.

0:55:01 > 0:55:05It was tricky, but I still thought he'd get it.

0:55:05 > 0:55:09It is cue ball control that's letting both players down at the

0:55:09 > 0:55:22moment. Getting pinpoint position.

0:55:41 > 0:55:46Not the best opening shot of the break, that one. Shouldn't be a

0:55:46 > 0:55:50problem just dropping this one in, but would like the position to be a

0:55:50 > 0:55:51lot easier.

0:56:11 > 0:56:16Leaves himself a half ball on the black here, a screw shot and take

0:56:16 > 0:56:34the red out on the three. If nothing pots. That would be nice.

0:56:46 > 0:56:49The way the reds were he couldn't play the shot I was mentioning

0:56:49 > 0:56:53there. So he had to go into them. I think he's going to be all right. It

0:56:53 > 0:56:59is very tight.

0:57:08 > 0:57:16He should be OK. What do you think? You like to play

0:57:16 > 0:57:20a follow through, don't you? He has to stand the cue ball to get

0:57:20 > 0:57:30position.

0:57:33 > 0:57:38It was a better shot than it looked. We knew what was going through his

0:57:38 > 0:57:49brain there. It is one of those shots you look at

0:57:49 > 0:57:53for ages and you are relieved when it goes in there.

0:58:00 > 0:58:05I have to say, this is a cracking match - it really is. Very high

0:58:05 > 0:58:10standards in the scoring. OK, one or two positional lapses, but certainly

0:58:10 > 0:58:15made it very interesting. You can see from that picture there,

0:58:15 > 0:58:22those two reds go to right middle. If he gets an angle, the black now

0:58:22 > 0:58:26could just stand maybe two cushions to get to that left-hand side

0:58:26 > 0:58:36cushion for a choice of those reds. And the black could be ideal.

0:58:40 > 0:58:45That is not a bad angle just to screw back.

0:58:45 > 0:58:51The speed of both players, they are getting on with it. The match so far

0:58:51 > 0:58:58only taken 42 minutes. The first frame has taken it with some. It has

0:58:58 > 0:59:05been very good indeed. Great to watch.

0:59:10 > 0:59:18He really is a gritty competitor. He does know how to compete.

0:59:39 > 0:59:40What a shot!

0:59:41 > 0:59:43APPLAUSE

0:59:46 > 0:59:51An excellent standard, these first four frames. Top-quality snooker

0:59:51 > 1:00:01from both players. If Judd didn't know he was in a

1:00:01 > 1:00:05tough match, he does now. This has been excellent from 2-0 down from

1:00:05 > 1:00:14Graeme Dott. I mentioned in the last frame, the

1:00:14 > 1:00:16highest break of the tournament was 86.

1:01:12 > 1:01:15STUDIO: It's very brisk and watchable, and I think those who

1:01:15 > 1:01:20were expecting it to be a tactical exchange particularly with Graeme

1:01:20 > 1:01:27will not be right. It's been really good to miss so far.-- it has been

1:01:27 > 1:01:30really good business. An excellent first session and I think Graeme

1:01:30 > 1:01:35Dott has stolen the session. It greater comeback from 2-0 behind. He

1:01:35 > 1:01:39is a big occasion player but he hasn't been playing too much on the

1:01:39 > 1:01:45television stages and he comes out a bit colder this respect, in an area

1:01:45 > 1:01:50where Judd Trump has played lots of recently and picked up the reins.

1:01:50 > 1:01:55Graeme Dott is not shy when it comes to the TV cameras. The two black Sea

1:01:55 > 1:02:01have picked out, especially the last one?The first

1:02:01 > 1:02:05have picked out, especially the last one?The first couple of frames, he

1:02:05 > 1:02:12would not have hit that that well at the start of the third frame. He was

1:02:12 > 1:02:18cold, out of stroke. Shifting the last red as well. Couple of nice

1:02:18 > 1:02:26little shots, he was gutsy. He is deceptively fluid, he has been known

1:02:26 > 1:02:33as a global player, but he is not. He has this got the ring craft. --

1:02:33 > 1:02:38he has been known as slow player. His average shots time is 19 seconds

1:02:38 > 1:02:43per shots, that's probably top five or six on the tour in terms of

1:02:43 > 1:02:43speed. When he

1:02:43 > 1:02:44or six on the tour in terms of speed. When he is in the balls

1:02:44 > 1:02:50coming he gets motoring. How concerned will Judd be? Just

1:02:50 > 1:02:55reminding him he's there.I'm not sure that jobs will be concerned as

1:02:55 > 1:03:01much but when you're coming from there, you would hope that he would

1:03:01 > 1:03:08have an easier match. Business as usual, Judd has got to do well for

1:03:08 > 1:03:13the second half. It just proves how hard it is to guarantee winning at

1:03:13 > 1:03:17the top class level, nobody is lying down and giving up. It's even harder

1:03:17 > 1:03:21to guarantee getting a run of form throughout the season. So you have

1:03:21 > 1:03:24got so mini tournaments, but to win back-to-back tournaments, to win a

1:03:24 > 1:03:29lot in the

1:03:29 > 1:03:30back-to-back tournaments, to win a lot in season, is getting even

1:03:30 > 1:03:36harder. What is a successful season, is it winning one? How do you judge

1:03:36 > 1:03:40a successful season? You cannot be too upset if you lose a lot of

1:03:40 > 1:03:43best-of-7 matches because the standard is so high.

1:03:43 > 1:03:46On that note, let's talk about the season winners so far. No sooner had

1:03:46 > 1:03:55the glitter cannon gone off at the Crucible for Mark Selby, the new

1:03:55 > 1:03:58season had got under way, its six-month old, they have been all

1:03:58 > 1:04:02around the world, there has been qualifying schools. And there have

1:04:02 > 1:04:06been ten different winners of the individual 13 events so far. It's

1:04:06 > 1:04:11been wide and varied success so far.

1:04:37 > 1:04:42MUSIC: Signed, Sealed, Delivered by Stevie Wonder.

1:05:50 > 1:05:53So there is plenty of prize money and plenty of opportunity for

1:05:53 > 1:05:57success but the trick is, peaking at the right times. And speaking to the

1:05:57 > 1:06:03majors. How difficult is that, is it in every other big sport? The first

1:06:03 > 1:06:06thing to say is that the good thing is that the top players now have so

1:06:06 > 1:06:11many events to play that they can pick and choose, and that's

1:06:11 > 1:06:15positive. Mark Selby took last week in Belfast and he came here and lost

1:06:15 > 1:06:20early. I don't put a lot of stock in the missing an event and playing

1:06:20 > 1:06:25well in the next one. It's just gives you a rest to some of the top

1:06:25 > 1:06:29players, more than anything. You've seen the variety of winners this

1:06:29 > 1:06:34season, even last season, Anthony Hamilton, Mark King, so many. I

1:06:34 > 1:06:40think the standard is so high overall.It might be it's a more

1:06:40 > 1:06:48athletic -- in a more athletic sport you need to conserve energy, but in

1:06:48 > 1:06:51snooker, there's no real answer to picking and choosing. It might just

1:06:51 > 1:06:56be luck. It could be that it has not done you any good laying off but it

1:06:56 > 1:06:59could help other people. If you do lay off and you go wrong, you look

1:06:59 > 1:07:03and think why did I bother, but if you win the next tournament, you

1:07:03 > 1:07:08think that is the answer. If you take Allen, a couple of years ago,

1:07:08 > 1:07:11what a

1:07:11 > 1:07:12take Allen, a couple of years ago, what wonderful run you had to the

1:07:12 > 1:07:16semifinal but you could never had predicted it could happen at that.

1:07:16 > 1:07:21It sometimes happens.I think the way the modern game has changed for

1:07:21 > 1:07:26not only the top players, most of the players, you don't practice at

1:07:26 > 1:07:31home so much. Their home for two or three days a lot of time, and for

1:07:31 > 1:07:35those two or three days, they are relaxing, chilling, lying on the

1:07:35 > 1:07:39sofa, they don't practice. You almost maintaining the game out here

1:07:39 > 1:07:43on the tour. Like the boys are doing behind us, just knocking up and

1:07:43 > 1:07:50keeping loose. Because there's a lot of matches now. You don't really

1:07:50 > 1:07:54need to MOT your game in the practice room back home as much as

1:07:54 > 1:07:59he once did.And if there were a formula, you would have bottled it,

1:07:59 > 1:08:03but there ain't! It's interesting to see the breadth of the winners, you

1:08:03 > 1:08:08saw the likes of Ryan Day, a first-time winner after 20 years as

1:08:08 > 1:08:10a professional, brilliant success for him and he is this afternoon

1:08:10 > 1:08:19playing very fellow Welshman, who has won two titles, including a 19th

1:08:19 > 1:08:23world ranking title in Belfast. Fantastic return to them winners

1:08:23 > 1:08:27circle for Mark Williams. They have faced one another 18 times over the

1:08:27 > 1:08:30years but never on these terms because both of them are now proven

1:08:30 > 1:08:40title winners. What difference will that make? Let's find out. We have

1:08:40 > 1:08:45got Day trailing by 32 point in the opening frame, and let's go to our

1:08:45 > 1:08:46commentators now.

1:08:52 > 1:08:58Super pot, super shot. Just lost the cue ball. We saw Mark Williams put a

1:08:58 > 1:09:03similar earlier on in this frame. There's a lot of pressure on this.

1:09:03 > 1:09:11He could take it on. The cue ball definitely clearing into the reds

1:09:11 > 1:09:18above it. He doesn't fancy it. Having second thoughts, maybe he is

1:09:18 > 1:09:26going to take it on. But if he gets this black, it could be a

1:09:26 > 1:09:31frame-winner. Let's see what happens. And he has not got away

1:09:31 > 1:09:39with it. That could cost him the frame. Before he played the shot, I

1:09:39 > 1:09:46was looking at him and he was playing the safety shot but then he

1:09:46 > 1:09:49changed his mind. Once you put that doubt in your head, you should

1:09:49 > 1:09:58forget about it. The first should be the one you play. When I saw him

1:09:58 > 1:10:04shake his head, I said, but get about it. -- or get about it.It

1:10:04 > 1:10:08would likely had convinced himself to not take it on.

1:10:11 > 1:10:20That might be another example of Mark's tip. He is not at his place

1:10:20 > 1:10:24at the table yet, did not want to be so close to the cushion. A better

1:10:24 > 1:10:26recovery.

1:10:32 > 1:10:34Tight brown or blue here.

1:10:55 > 1:11:02Mostly on the red into the bottom of the corner, he can hold for the pink

1:11:02 > 1:11:04and can then go back down for the black.

1:11:09 > 1:11:13Just seen him look at his tip there.

1:11:26 > 1:11:30The tips that they make nowadays are much easier to play with

1:11:30 > 1:11:31straightaway.

1:11:33 > 1:11:39Way back in the day, it took you three or four days to get used to a

1:11:39 > 1:11:46tip. But the composition of the tips are much better now.

1:12:07 > 1:12:12Doesn't need many more, does he? Already 55 ahead. So this red would

1:12:12 > 1:12:14be enough.

1:12:19 > 1:12:24And even though it's the best of 11, it's always nice to get the first

1:12:24 > 1:12:27frame under your belt. It helps you relax a little bit.

1:12:30 > 1:12:36Ryan did have a chance but that cut back on the black has cost him this

1:12:36 > 1:12:38opening frame.

1:13:49 > 1:13:53And if he manages to clear the remaining colours, it will give him

1:13:53 > 1:13:59a bit more confidence with the new kit. That will not give him a grade

1:13:59 > 1:14:08of confidence. Unless he flicks it... But he is looking at the tip,

1:14:08 > 1:14:13he will be quite pleased, he would needed a couple of chances. Ryan

1:14:13 > 1:14:16concedes and Mark Williams take the opening frame quite comfortable.

1:14:16 > 1:14:17concedes and Mark Williams take the opening frame quite comfortable.

1:14:17 > 1:14:22STUDIO: a good break to start, incidentally of the 18 previous

1:14:22 > 1:14:26matches that they have played, Mark leads with ten wins, Ryan has seven

1:14:26 > 1:14:30and they have one draw. They are pretty evenly matched. Let's get

1:14:30 > 1:14:32into the second frame and Ryan at the table.

1:14:39 > 1:14:47Just OK. He was hoping to leave black or pink there. For the moment,

1:14:47 > 1:14:50I thought he hadn't brought it back far enough but he's fine.

1:15:05 > 1:15:09Should be OK. He's got a slight angle, needs to play it with a

1:15:09 > 1:15:13little bit of pace to get out for the yellow, green on the run. Maybe

1:15:13 > 1:15:22straight on it. But he has got plenty of cue power. The normal

1:15:22 > 1:15:29ankle would have took that back and can enter the green. -- can end the

1:15:29 > 1:15:29green.

1:15:45 > 1:15:50A nice positional shots of the red into the lower pocket. The choice of

1:15:50 > 1:15:52coming back up for the blue.

1:16:03 > 1:16:11They take the loose read here. At the back of the pack. If you can

1:16:11 > 1:16:16leave a nice angle on this red, it looks a bit straighter, if he left a

1:16:16 > 1:16:24nice angle he could have disturbed a few more and gone on to the black. A

1:16:24 > 1:16:31couple of more inches towards the black with that cue ball is needed.

1:16:31 > 1:16:35You can see with the tip of his cue, that is where he wants to leave the

1:16:35 > 1:16:46cue ball. He is going to pot this red on the black. This will be a

1:16:46 > 1:16:55good shot coming up. Played it with a lot of pace. If this works out,

1:16:55 > 1:16:58could give him a chance to win the frame.

1:17:07 > 1:17:12Could have been a little bit better, to be honest. But unlike you, he

1:17:12 > 1:17:18opened the reds up nicely. He has just got to be careful. He has got

1:17:18 > 1:17:23to cannon the pink. He might be able to push it towards the left middle

1:17:23 > 1:17:29pocket, got to be careful that he does not cannon it into the pocket.

1:17:29 > 1:17:35Depends what kind of pace he wants to play this act, as to whether he

1:17:35 > 1:17:43finishes on the pink or blue. He has hit it a little bit too hard. The

1:17:43 > 1:17:46same shot with less pace would have been perfect. The team could not

1:17:46 > 1:17:51have come off the ocean as far, -- the pink would not have come off the

1:17:51 > 1:17:56cushion as far, and now he has got eight tricky one, the sort of shot

1:17:56 > 1:18:06that players practice. Sometimes players would rather play a thin

1:18:06 > 1:18:12shot them along straight pot. Where is the cue ball going to finish?

1:18:17 > 1:18:21Not bad.

1:18:39 > 1:18:54This looks really good. Judge that very well. In an out of the top,

1:18:54 > 1:18:55looking for the pink.

1:19:05 > 1:19:11Did not want that kiss on the blue, trying to avoid the blue for the two

1:19:11 > 1:19:20reds. Again, he's left with a difficult choice here. He could cut

1:19:20 > 1:19:25this red on the pink spot into the bottom left-hand corner pocket but

1:19:25 > 1:19:31he is not crunchy percent sure whether cue ball will go. -- 100%

1:19:31 > 1:19:35sure where the cue ball will go. He could use the pocket to try and slow

1:19:35 > 1:19:42the ball down. He tried to hit the red next to the middle pocket.

1:19:45 > 1:19:49But he is in a bit of no man's land, he is struggling.

1:20:21 > 1:20:26That was a good recovery. He has judged it nicely because he's got a

1:20:26 > 1:20:30nice angle on this red to get back for a ball colour.

1:20:37 > 1:20:39Good pots.

1:20:46 > 1:20:50One good positional shot here off the brown and green. And he should

1:20:50 > 1:20:53win the frame.

1:21:01 > 1:21:04He has had to work hard for these, hasn't he?

1:21:09 > 1:21:13Yes, as long as you keep knocking them in, you're going to win the

1:21:13 > 1:21:18frame. Always nice if you can keep close control, but sometimes you

1:21:18 > 1:21:20have got to work to your points.

1:21:23 > 1:21:30He has got terrific cue power, Ryan Day. That shot was an indication of

1:21:30 > 1:21:32it.

1:21:39 > 1:21:44Just the black, leaving Mark needing a snooker, and the reds are not

1:21:44 > 1:21:49ideally placed. Make sure you put the black.

1:21:58 > 1:22:00Only one snooker needed at the moment.

1:22:08 > 1:22:11I don't think the double is on. Maybe if he played it with a little

1:22:11 > 1:22:16bit of left-hand side, he could create the angle to double it. He's

1:22:16 > 1:22:26playing safe, just a safety shot. So that nice break of 65, you would

1:22:26 > 1:22:30think might just be enough to give him the frame. It should be one

1:22:30 > 1:22:33each. Indeed it was, and you can

1:22:33 > 1:22:36each. Indeed it was, and you can continue

1:22:36 > 1:22:40to keep watching this on the red button or the BBC sport website.

1:22:40 > 1:22:45Back to table one now, because after a refuel at the mid-session

1:22:45 > 1:22:56interview, it is the Juddernaut and the Pocket Dynamo which is now a

1:22:56 > 1:23:02best-of-7.Great match so far. More of the same, please,

1:23:02 > 1:23:02best-of-7.Great match so far. More of the same, please, absolutely

1:23:02 > 1:23:11fabulous opening session. Breaks of 93, and 78 from Judd, and 83 from

1:23:11 > 1:23:18Graeme Dott. And very entertaining as well. A really quick match time.

1:23:18 > 1:23:2144, and the average frame time...

1:23:24 > 1:23:31Very quick indeed at 11 minutes per frame. Keep that up and we will all

1:23:31 > 1:23:32be happy!

1:23:41 > 1:23:50What happened to there? A little extra bit of side. You can see he is

1:23:50 > 1:23:54putting some right-hand side on it and what it off discussion. Still

1:23:54 > 1:24:03had loads on. -- watch it off that question. That is a massive mistake,

1:24:03 > 1:24:10the back of the pack that he has to go into. Judd has got to

1:24:10 > 1:24:14re-establish himself in this match, he raced into a 2-0 lead, as we

1:24:14 > 1:24:20mentioned. He needs to start scoring again.

1:24:23 > 1:24:30Wasting no time opening up the bunch of reds, stunning the cue ball into

1:24:30 > 1:24:36it, a screw shot would have bought the cue ball back to the right-hand

1:24:36 > 1:24:37pocket.

1:24:48 > 1:24:53Not possible to hold for the blue in the middle. That was an excellent

1:24:53 > 1:25:00shot. He's a little bit unfortunate to finish between there. With Judd's

1:25:00 > 1:25:05capabilities, you would fancy him knocking the blue in. Excellent.

1:25:26 > 1:25:30It's always nice when you have a scoring opportunity at the beginning

1:25:30 > 1:25:39of the frame, pink and black all available. He has played for the top

1:25:39 > 1:25:41of the bunch near the pink spot.

1:25:44 > 1:25:52A slight grimace there. Not ideal on the red. This can go wrong

1:25:52 > 1:25:54sometimes.

1:26:02 > 1:26:13I was looking at Graeme, a slight shake of the head because he hit its

1:26:13 > 1:26:18too hard and got a perfect angle on the green. It's not great when

1:26:18 > 1:26:21you're sitting there and you think he has messed it up and you look up

1:26:21 > 1:26:29and its plum. Graeme's opening shot in this frame is very poor and

1:26:29 > 1:26:31that's why he sitting in his chair.

1:26:55 > 1:26:59Judd Trump just moves ahead on points scored total. Nothing to

1:26:59 > 1:27:07separate these players so far. If you make a mistake, it will cost you

1:27:07 > 1:27:08the frame.

1:27:35 > 1:27:4568 points required. Mathematically to win the frame. He has overhit

1:27:45 > 1:27:53that by a good few inches. He is blaming a contact on the red. It did

1:27:53 > 1:28:01sound a bit heavy. He missed the black earlier on this afternoon. The

1:28:01 > 1:28:05cue ball was slightly closer to it, but it cut back, missed one before

1:28:05 > 1:28:12it is the same pocket. Each to do better here. -- he needs to do

1:28:12 > 1:28:21better. He has done the same thing. He has got 40 but he will be kicking

1:28:21 > 1:28:24himself he hasn't got more there.

1:28:45 > 1:28:51Very tricky little shot there, needed to get a bit of side on. Keep

1:28:51 > 1:28:54it across the ball like that.

1:29:08 > 1:29:16That's a great shot, that really is a great shot. He cued that so well.

1:29:16 > 1:29:21Just enough cue to get through the wall, but not to send it all around

1:29:21 > 1:29:23the table, really well controlled.

1:29:39 > 1:29:44Going to need a couple more reds, there is a chance to screw this and

1:29:44 > 1:29:50click one of the reds out if he wants to stay on the black. That's

1:29:50 > 1:29:52what he's done, put it into play.

1:30:21 > 1:30:24He took the opportunity there to develop the reds. The two that are

1:30:24 > 1:30:28on the right-hand side of the table aren't really that good for Judd

1:30:28 > 1:30:30because he's left-handed.

1:30:36 > 1:30:43As it worked out, well, if it goes, that's not bad.

1:31:05 > 1:31:09You see the path of the cue ball going.

1:31:09 > 1:31:15Left himself a nice angle, the pink, to play any of the reds.I mean, the

1:31:15 > 1:31:23thing is, with that shot, it either goes or it doesn't.

1:31:52 > 1:31:58I think he was playing the safety.

1:32:00 > 1:32:04Not surprised, but where it finished, he won't be too

1:32:04 > 1:32:14disappointed.

1:32:45 > 1:32:48Give him a little chance.

1:32:55 > 1:32:58It may turn out in your favour because he's taken it and now

1:32:58 > 1:33:10missed. Get back at the table.

1:33:33 > 1:33:35Has to pot a colour with each red.

1:33:58 > 1:34:03If he can pot this red and just come down the table a little further and

1:34:03 > 1:34:07leave an angle on the black, a chance here to pot the black, move a

1:34:07 > 1:34:10red off the cushion, maybe develop two into play and stay on the other

1:34:10 > 1:34:21one. This is not totally forlorn if this goes in.

1:34:25 > 1:34:30Which way would you play it?I was thinking when he cannoned that red,

1:34:30 > 1:34:35when the frame is won it goes right. Definitely needs a good cannon here.

1:34:35 > 1:34:39You are right, if the red is closest to the cushion, if he cannons out

1:34:39 > 1:34:42the left-hand side could take that one off as well.

1:34:42 > 1:34:48I think I would concentrate full ball to cannon the red. Leave the

1:34:48 > 1:34:52red to the left middle.

1:35:02 > 1:35:09He had a look, lined up before, he was trying to play the back one.

1:35:09 > 1:35:15I am with you, I would have been the other way, I think.

1:35:18 > 1:35:30I think it might be a safety.

1:35:41 > 1:35:52Still in the frame.

1:36:37 > 1:36:42He's obviously going to leave the cue ball down this end of the table,

1:36:42 > 1:36:45so could leave Graeme Dott an opportunity if he doesn't make this

1:36:45 > 1:36:49pot. One of those funny situation. Two

1:36:49 > 1:36:54reds he could look at here. Just thinking about which one to take.

1:36:54 > 1:36:59So, it is looking like this one down the right-hand side.

1:36:59 > 1:37:05Could easily play it and screw the cue ball back into both.It makes

1:37:05 > 1:37:16the pot harder, so decisions to be made.

1:37:33 > 1:37:33APPLAUSE

1:37:34 > 1:37:39Pretty close. What you can guarantee here is this red is coming off the

1:37:39 > 1:37:47side cushion. If Graeme can line it up with the green. It had to be

1:37:47 > 1:37:54thicker than that, Graeme. He knew straightaway when he hit it.

1:37:56 > 1:38:05He hasn't done it and given Judd a really good chance. OK, it is not a

1:38:05 > 1:38:06sitter.

1:38:11 > 1:38:18I just had a feeling that shot. Graeme Dott has played two or three

1:38:18 > 1:38:18safety shots.

1:38:27 > 1:38:32Other times you play poor ones and keep coming back to the table.

1:38:32 > 1:38:40He's one good shot away, which he's just played from a very good chance.

1:38:40 > 1:38:45And this will hit Judd if he plays up here. Make no mistake about that,

1:38:45 > 1:38:56he should have won this frame.

1:39:02 > 1:39:06Judd will be devastated if he loses this frame. On the other side of the

1:39:06 > 1:39:11coin Graeme doesn't take this opportunity to pinch it, he will be

1:39:11 > 1:39:12devastated.

1:39:19 > 1:39:25If you are going to win these big tournaments, it is winning the

1:39:25 > 1:39:28frames you shouldn't win. They all add up at the end of the week. That

1:39:28 > 1:39:32is why people end up lifting trophies.

1:39:32 > 1:39:36Nicking games like this. It is so nice if you are Graeme Dott.

1:39:36 > 1:39:40Can he do it?

1:39:59 > 1:40:02He can screw it for the blue.

1:40:04 > 1:40:13Winning the frame by a point. And it is there.

1:40:13 > 1:40:26And this is a magnificent chance for a clearance from nowhere.

1:40:45 > 1:40:51He's been thrown a semi lifeline because he's overscrewed the yellow.

1:40:51 > 1:40:54He shouldn't have been anywhere using a rest after that shot, but he

1:40:54 > 1:40:58S got to be a little bit more careful. May have to play this green

1:40:58 > 1:41:09with a touch of side as well.

1:41:13 > 1:41:26He played it beautifully to make sure he was definitely on the brown.

1:41:57 > 1:42:01Tremendous steal from Graeme Dott and this will hurt Judd Trump.

1:42:01 > 1:42:07Should be 3-2 in front, but now he's 3-2 behind. A clearance from Graeme

1:42:07 > 1:42:14Dott. Once again the signs of that gritty competitor he is. 62 points

1:42:14 > 1:42:19to 61, he nicks it and he leads by 3-2.

1:42:23 > 1:42:28STUDIO: Graeme has forged ahead here. 3-2 against the world number

1:42:28 > 1:42:33two and the top seed left in this Er's championship.

1:42:41 > 1:42:54This match was 2-2 at the interval. ItAnother. A 56 from Maguire and

1:42:54 > 1:43:03even Stephens at the break. This is game five. On table four we've got

1:43:03 > 1:43:08an interesting one. The 20-year-old, in fact he only turned 20 last week,

1:43:08 > 1:43:12a very talented young man, this. Third season in the game. He was on

1:43:12 > 1:43:172-0 up at one point. Michael's come back at him and he's on a break of

1:43:17 > 1:43:2064 right now as they head towards the interval. Could it be that the

1:43:20 > 1:43:26youngster will take a 3-1 advantage into the interval against the man

1:43:26 > 1:43:32who was a runner up in this championship, in Telford, in 2008?

1:43:32 > 1:43:33So, intrigue and interest.

1:43:35 > 1:43:39There are some great matches and we are very much enjoying this comeback

1:43:39 > 1:43:44from Graeme Dott so far.Yes. Never would have predicted that would be

1:43:44 > 1:43:482-0 behind. Graeme looked like he was struggling. A bit of table time

1:43:48 > 1:43:52and perhaps all that confidence has sort of flooded back into his body.

1:43:52 > 1:43:57The old feelings of being out there on the centre table and, as we said

1:43:57 > 1:44:03before Graeme Dott is a proven winner this that department. And the

1:44:03 > 1:44:07old feelings, that is very well put. The memories of good times and being

1:44:07 > 1:44:11able to take on the world's best, you don't lose the feeling, do you?

1:44:11 > 1:44:17You never lose them. Graeme will be loving it out there. He plays quick.

1:44:17 > 1:44:21He can score heavy. But he loves a dogfight as well. There's nothing

1:44:21 > 1:44:25that will phase him out there. What a good clearance that was. We were

1:44:25 > 1:44:29sitting here when he potted the first red with the rest, we thought,

1:44:29 > 1:44:35job done here. He's going to finish it and he did.Judd Trump is the

1:44:35 > 1:44:39expected winner of this game, against a player who is getting

1:44:39 > 1:44:43older and not doing so well recently. You have to fight against

1:44:43 > 1:44:47those expectations and play the game as it is. It is not easy to

1:44:47 > 1:44:54sometimes think, I should beat this guy.For Dott, the tail is up - he's

1:44:54 > 1:44:58ahead.

1:45:00 > 1:45:07THE COMMENTATOR: It was a massive frame for Graeme Dott. A big frame

1:45:07 > 1:45:12for Judd. Doesn't want to go behind to Graeme Dott. And that will help.

1:45:12 > 1:45:18Excellent opening pot.

1:45:56 > 1:46:00Once again he's got one of these little cut backs on the black and

1:46:00 > 1:46:05the two he's taken on so far this afternoon, he's missed both and they

1:46:05 > 1:46:13have both been to the near jaw. That one didn't miss. What a shot

1:46:13 > 1:46:17that was.

1:46:19 > 1:46:27A great shot. Very good shot. So aggressive. As you say John, missed

1:46:27 > 1:46:30twice and by a mile. You wouldn't have thought so the way

1:46:30 > 1:46:35he played that. The only downside there, he's left himself on a red in

1:46:35 > 1:46:39the centre. The black doesn't go into the right-hand top corner

1:46:39 > 1:46:43pocket, so position's awkward. May have to take the one at the back and

1:46:43 > 1:46:48power through this. Needs a bit of luck to land on one.

1:46:48 > 1:46:53Which he hasn't. Didn't look like he had to hit it

1:46:53 > 1:46:57that hard. As long as he got the top spin on

1:46:57 > 1:47:03it. Thought the cue ball was going to keep going.

1:47:14 > 1:47:21It was a magnificent chance to go 3-3, but now it will be a lot of

1:47:21 > 1:47:31hard work.

1:47:38 > 1:47:43Don't know how Dott's nerves are, but if he could leave the cue ball

1:47:43 > 1:47:47down in the jaws of the yellow pocket, that is one shot. I'm not

1:47:47 > 1:47:51sure he'll fancy that at the moment. It is one of those if you are forced

1:47:51 > 1:47:55into it, you may play into it, but at the moment you may not think it

1:47:55 > 1:48:02is the percentage. Don't blame him.

1:48:10 > 1:48:15He has got one. Looking at the shot you mentioned,

1:48:15 > 1:48:25John.

1:48:29 > 1:48:33It isn't where he wanted it. Good luck with this one. This is a proper

1:48:33 > 1:48:36test.

1:48:38 > 1:48:44Blue to left middle. All I'll say is if he knocks it in,

1:48:44 > 1:48:52he'll deserve everything he gets from it. This is really tough.

1:48:52 > 1:48:58May play with pace black-to-left middle. Dropping it in dead weight

1:48:58 > 1:49:04is horrible. Wasn't easy. Didn't really make a

1:49:04 > 1:49:08good effort at it. The only thing you can say about it

1:49:08 > 1:49:12is he's hit it so poorly he's made it a little bit more awkward for

1:49:12 > 1:49:17Judd. They are horrible shots. We mentioned it before he played it. He

1:49:17 > 1:49:23can quite possibly miss those. So you would fancy Judd Trump to get

1:49:23 > 1:49:27this clip in the middle. It's not a certainty. There you go. It wasn't.

1:49:27 > 1:49:32Once again, the shot that Graeme Dott hasn't played well will pay

1:49:32 > 1:49:35dividends because he's back in again. It is a strange game at

1:49:35 > 1:49:38times.

1:49:42 > 1:49:44What a chance.

1:49:47 > 1:49:58Judd went back to his seat absolutely furious.

1:50:04 > 1:50:11Judd Trump is in a dogfight now. How much does he want it?

1:50:13 > 1:50:24The top seed in this tournament now.

1:50:26 > 1:50:31Not been out here in the main auditorium in the last years or so.

1:50:31 > 1:50:35We know he's got great experience but you have to keep on doing it out

1:50:35 > 1:50:44there. He's not really been in this situation for a while.

1:50:44 > 1:50:46Have every faith, but sometimes you have to show it. Sometimes you can

1:50:46 > 1:50:51get excited be I the fact your opponent is missing a few.

1:50:51 > 1:51:06He's got to keep himself together. He's got to do what he's good at.

1:51:50 > 1:51:53Getting a little bit straight on this black.

1:51:53 > 1:52:06Can't really screw back. He had a look at just coming back a couple of

1:52:06 > 1:52:13inches. Making that shot a difficult. It's all he could do. So

1:52:13 > 1:52:18he's tried to hold the spot, so he hasn't got a problem with the cue in

1:52:18 > 1:52:25and if he can drop this red in the middle, well, the blacks available.

1:52:25 > 1:52:30This is the most important shot on this break because if he gets it in,

1:52:30 > 1:52:36he's got a wonderful chance to win the frame.

1:52:37 > 1:52:42Well cued.That was excellent. That was.

1:52:42 > 1:52:46He had half a pocket to aim at there.

1:52:49 > 1:53:06His bottle is still in tact.

1:53:11 > 1:53:22Coming out against a fancied player.

1:53:44 > 1:53:50Got to be a little bit careful with this. See the players go around and

1:53:50 > 1:53:57have a little look and see the angle.

1:54:17 > 1:54:20Slightly more difficult position-wise in a minute.

1:54:34 > 1:54:45A couple of red colours away from taking a 4-2 lead.

1:54:45 > 1:54:53This break has been excellent. Very good indeed. 94% pot success rate is

1:54:53 > 1:55:02top class. He's come straight on the black again, or just offstraight.

1:55:02 > 1:55:08Not on the ideal angle.

1:55:31 > 1:55:43Been excellent with the rest so far this afternoon.

1:55:57 > 1:56:06Usually stick it up, which is what he's done here.

1:56:20 > 1:56:27ThisThis is on the black, of sorts. The problem, he was desperate to get

1:56:27 > 1:56:32a ball off the cushion. Imperative to land on a colour because he needs

1:56:32 > 1:56:37the points. Another black off the spot missed.

1:56:37 > 1:56:40I think he's probably missed more of those this afternoon than he has all

1:56:40 > 1:56:49season.

1:56:55 > 1:57:07Four frames in a row for Graeme Dott.

1:57:13 > 1:57:15APPLAUSE

1:57:21 > 1:57:25Graeme Dott, four frames to two. Only looks like one winner at the

1:57:25 > 1:57:30minute, that is Graeme Dott. Looks like he's got the bit between his

1:57:30 > 1:57:35teeth. Ironically he's played a couple of poor shots and ended in

1:57:35 > 1:57:41getting in off them. His opponent has had one or two tricky shots. One

1:57:41 > 1:57:46in particular, where you questioned the way he played this.If I have

1:57:46 > 1:57:50got a criticism of Judd Trump and his cue ball control, he overhits a

1:57:50 > 1:57:54lot of shots. This one, you can see the shape of the pack. You think, as

1:57:54 > 1:58:00long as he hits it nicely, does haven't to hit this as hard. I know

1:58:00 > 1:58:05he's scared of leaving the cue ball right to the cushion but imperative

1:58:05 > 1:58:09leaving your pot on the black. Hits it very hard and you can see just

1:58:09 > 1:58:13lands nowhere. He had quite a big margin for error. It wasn't like it

1:58:13 > 1:58:19was just travelling. It was going to go across the table and back. A

1:58:19 > 1:58:23slight mis-judgment there. Looks out of sorts at the moment.Body

1:58:23 > 1:58:27language is not good. When he's missing, he's looking under pressure

1:58:27 > 1:58:32now. He is under pressure, no doubt about it.If we thought the last

1:58:32 > 1:58:36frame was big, this is huge.

1:59:36 > 1:59:41We have seen Graeme today. He's been very fluent in scoring, but has the

1:59:41 > 1:59:45luxury of being 4-2 ahead. If he wants to have a scrapie frame, he

1:59:45 > 1:59:49can have one. It is not him playing catch up. At the moment he's in the

1:59:49 > 1:59:54driving seat. He won't mind which way this match goes, Judd is

1:59:54 > 1:59:58desperate to get in and score heavily. From Graeme's point of

1:59:58 > 2:00:04view, he can play how he sees it.

2:00:24 > 2:00:27The big questions are being asked of Judd Trump now.

2:00:42 > 2:00:47When you hit it well, you tend to get a bit of luck and that was a

2:00:47 > 2:00:51lovely little kiss but fantastic opening pot. There were couple of

2:00:51 > 2:00:55reds available for Graeme, who won at the back of the pack certainly

2:00:55 > 2:01:01goes and at the middle. If you leave it low, you can pot this and leave

2:01:01 > 2:01:04some reds into play. Looks good.

2:01:14 > 2:01:20That was a lovely shot, really well played. Nice and controlled, who

2:01:20 > 2:01:26come any reds came into play there. -- look how many reds came into

2:01:26 > 2:01:39play.It was almost stunning the cue ball into the pack. You have to keep

2:01:39 > 2:01:41the excitement in check, remain in the moment.

2:01:46 > 2:01:53It's not been that he has been in the big stage that often in recent

2:01:53 > 2:01:58times. He is one of the premier players, Judd Trump. The composure

2:01:58 > 2:02:05is there. At the moment. The way he has been playing the balls, you'd

2:02:05 > 2:02:08expect this to be 5-2 now.

2:02:37 > 2:02:45If he is not on a red there... He has got one back into the corner. He

2:02:45 > 2:02:55would love to be on something easier. But his positional play out

2:02:55 > 2:03:03of kilter. You wouldn't expect him to get this but you've got a plan

2:03:03 > 2:03:09and it has to change, sometimes you can miss. But not now.

2:03:41 > 2:03:43Well played as well. Nice touch.

2:03:54 > 2:03:58He's looking good, he really is. Best I've seen him play for a good

2:03:58 > 2:03:59while.

2:04:06 > 2:04:09Everything is going in the middle of the pocket now, we mentioned earlier

2:04:09 > 2:04:16on in the match, one or two wobbly shots and it's nice and clean now.

2:04:16 > 2:04:22He's working walking around the table like he's very confident.

2:04:37 > 2:04:42Just a little bit low there. Thought the way they played it, he was on

2:04:42 > 2:04:49the bottom red. That's the one he played on, the one just below the

2:04:49 > 2:04:57pink. Obviously it's still pots, but the position is more difficult.

2:05:09 > 2:05:13Another great shot.

2:05:23 > 2:05:26Eventually got round onto that red.

2:05:55 > 2:05:58He keeps on finishing awkwardly on the colours and reds but he keeps on

2:05:58 > 2:06:05potting balls. Just sheer determination.Yes, 63 ahead, 75

2:06:05 > 2:06:11left. And this is probably going to be the important shot. He needs to

2:06:11 > 2:06:17get a good cannon to get on a colour. Well played. Hit that

2:06:17 > 2:06:24lovely. And this is definitely frame ball, if this goes in.

2:06:34 > 2:06:40Has been a very great effort.

2:06:45 > 2:06:53Surely from this position you will see the first entry of this match.

2:06:53 > 2:07:01Oh! What a shot. And Judd Trump remained in his chair. Another one

2:07:01 > 2:07:05for Graeme notched to extend his lead, he needs just one more to be

2:07:05 > 2:07:12top seed in this tournament. You can guarantee he won't be taking

2:07:12 > 2:07:16anything for granted because he was 53 against manic Dale and suddenly

2:07:16 > 2:07:22found himself in a final frame -- 5-3 against Dominic Dale and that

2:07:22 > 2:07:24itself in a final frame decider. But not

2:07:24 > 2:07:27itself in a final frame decider. But not showing huge amount. We talked

2:07:27 > 2:07:32about his fighting quality, he has fought his way into the match,

2:07:32 > 2:07:37Graeme, and taken complete control. We have seen Judd sitting down for

2:07:37 > 2:07:42the majority of the five frames. We are beginning to see the body

2:07:42 > 2:07:45language from Judd who was looking more uncomfortable.Other than the

2:07:45 > 2:07:49chair is getting more comfortable because he's spending too much time

2:07:49 > 2:07:53in it. You cannot give him, it's not his full pieces happened, you have

2:07:53 > 2:07:55got to say from Graeme Dott's perspective, every credit what he's

2:07:55 > 2:08:03done. The only thing that I can criticise is that he has been to the

2:08:03 > 2:08:06toilet twice, and he used to criticise me for going all the time.

2:08:06 > 2:08:13You went after everything.He has obviously learned from me.New

2:08:13 > 2:08:19feature, toilet talk! What would you change from a gritty perspective? --

2:08:19 > 2:08:22from Judd's perspective? When you're on the point of departure, we have

2:08:22 > 2:08:26seen him come back often from here but that he looked like he's in

2:08:26 > 2:08:31stroke to do so today?I think he is physically in stroke but I'll be

2:08:31 > 2:08:35honest, if I was Judd's mate, I would get him someone in his corner

2:08:35 > 2:08:42who really knows this game, and knows what it is like to be out

2:08:42 > 2:08:48there. At times like this, you were 2-0 up and bossing it and all of a

2:08:48 > 2:08:52sudden, you are staring at the other table, watching the other match,

2:08:52 > 2:08:55that's not good body language. You've got to be on it every second

2:08:55 > 2:08:59you're out there and he's not. I think mentally, he can improve.

2:08:59 > 2:09:03Pretend you're his mate, what would you say?Get focused and get his

2:09:03 > 2:09:10mind on the job and be up for the fight. He's going out to play Dott

2:09:10 > 2:09:15today, he knows what Graeme brings to the table, and Graeme isn't

2:09:15 > 2:09:20afraid of him. People are not going to go out there and play against

2:09:20 > 2:09:25Judd, rollover and have your belly tickled, he will be to 6-1 and we go

2:09:25 > 2:09:31home, it doesn't work that way.You know you are into a fight before you

2:09:31 > 2:09:38turn up.In these modern day games, players have to perform all the

2:09:38 > 2:09:42time. He got off to a fantastic start, Judd. Sometimes, you can't do

2:09:42 > 2:09:46much about another guy playing well against you. It's very hard to keep

2:09:46 > 2:09:50a good man down like Graeme Dott. One or two shots we were talking

2:09:50 > 2:09:56earlier about, occasionally as Alan made the

2:09:56 > 2:09:57earlier about, occasionally as Alan made the point to me, sometimes Judd

2:09:57 > 2:10:03doesn't make it hard enough for his opponent. Perhaps John Higgins food

2:10:03 > 2:10:09make you work harder for your opportunities. Judd plays an open

2:10:09 > 2:10:15game.Let's go back, they could be on the point of yet another shot in

2:10:15 > 2:10:16the tournament.

2:10:19 > 2:10:24Interesting stuff as ever. What he cannot afford to do business. The

2:10:24 > 2:10:30scoreline is 5-2 because Graeme has played very well. -- he cannot

2:10:30 > 2:10:36afford to miss. Graeme has been back at the table straightaway when Judd

2:10:36 > 2:10:44has played poor shots. He has got severely punished but ultimately, it

2:10:44 > 2:10:46was him who missed.

2:10:55 > 2:10:58That fifth frame is looking more and more like the turning point in this

2:10:58 > 2:11:06match. Judd had a couple of chances at it, to go up himself. But since

2:11:06 > 2:11:12then, to be frank, he has folded a bit. Imagine if you put a player

2:11:12 > 2:11:21with Judd's talent and Graeme Dott's fighting ability together, he would

2:11:21 > 2:11:24be unbeatable.I would not fancy playing them.

2:11:38 > 2:11:44There is nothing like confidence. Starting to knock in everything now,

2:11:44 > 2:11:46Graeme, playing the standard that he was playing when he was reaching

2:11:46 > 2:11:47world finals.

2:11:51 > 2:11:57This is something else you get. He is a great match player on top of

2:11:57 > 2:12:02being a very good and fluent scorer. When he is at his best, he's a much

2:12:02 > 2:12:05for everybody. This is what Judd is finding out this afternoon.

2:12:13 > 2:12:23Great percentage, that is, what success, 93. Very high pot success.

2:12:27 > 2:12:32One thing I agree with, Alan McManus, his body language is not

2:12:32 > 2:12:37inspiring much confidence that he will come back into this match. He

2:12:37 > 2:12:40may prove me wrong and everyone wrong but at the moment I don't see

2:12:40 > 2:12:44it. Foulness macro.

2:12:59 > 2:13:06Very tight into the centre pocket. He has decided he doesn't fancy

2:13:06 > 2:13:08that.

2:13:41 > 2:13:47Wow, that is the ultimate mistake. You hit the black, chipped it in the

2:13:47 > 2:13:53pocket, put it back on the spot and leave Graeme with a simple red.

2:13:53 > 2:14:04Could not be any worse if you tried.

2:14:10 > 2:14:15He has finished straight on blacks a few times today, Graeme Dott.He has

2:14:15 > 2:14:21not been stopping them, he keeps finding position and keeps going on.

2:14:21 > 2:14:25That shot Judd just played there, goodness me. I bet he can't believe

2:14:25 > 2:14:33the way that turned out. Once again, Graeme has just slightly lost the

2:14:33 > 2:14:37cue ball, a little bit too hard. Does not want to play a cannon into

2:14:37 > 2:14:43the two reds above the black. If he had kept the cue ball mice and

2:14:43 > 2:14:50tight, he wouldn't have to.If he plays a screw shot into the first

2:14:50 > 2:14:53red, he can leave the second one into the right corner. He is playing

2:14:53 > 2:14:55top spin.

2:15:00 > 2:15:04Clever little shot, the way he played it.You has gone up the

2:15:04 > 2:15:10table, chart of the one up the table. -- he has gone up the table,

2:15:10 > 2:15:12chance for the one up the table.

2:15:36 > 2:15:43Mentioned the shot that Judd played there, unbelievable how that

2:15:43 > 2:15:47happened. A bad shot, should not be going anywhere near the black, not

2:15:47 > 2:15:55only does he pot it, put it back on the spot and then leaves the red.

2:15:55 > 2:15:58Goodness me, when it's not your day...

2:16:08 > 2:16:14That was an excellent shot. Stumbling through, just a bit of

2:16:14 > 2:16:18side to hold it up.

2:16:19 > 2:16:25Very good at those types of shots, slightly awkward. He just keeps

2:16:25 > 2:16:33knocking them in and keeping them going. Wants to get a 76 to get over

2:16:33 > 2:16:39the line in this frame. Let's see which way he goes about this. The

2:16:39 > 2:16:44red at the top of the eight pack does pot so you want to play for

2:16:44 > 2:16:51blue instead of pink. Just needs the cue ball to run a bit. He has got it

2:16:51 > 2:17:01so he will play that read, leave it short so he can pot it and bring the

2:17:01 > 2:17:03other reds into play.

2:17:11 > 2:17:16He's run a little bit further than he may have liked.

2:17:28 > 2:17:30Just to force another read out.

2:17:34 > 2:17:42Again, not dead straight but finished, not with a natural angle

2:17:42 > 2:17:48to play for the red to left corner.

2:17:58 > 2:18:06Another excellent shot there. One more required here. Just come out

2:18:06 > 2:18:11back for another colour. Has been a superb break. It's the circumstances

2:18:11 > 2:18:15that make this very good. We have mentioned he has not been in the

2:18:15 > 2:18:20main arena for a while, for a couple of seasons it hasn't been brilliant.

2:18:20 > 2:18:25But to produce this on a big stage, against the top seed in the

2:18:25 > 2:18:30tournament, this has been absolutely superb from Graeme Dott. And on this

2:18:30 > 2:18:32form, he'll take some beating.

2:18:43 > 2:18:46They just have an angle here to flick into the pack, bring another

2:18:46 > 2:18:54one into play. There it is again, this has been excellent. A couple of

2:18:54 > 2:18:58shots ago, he flicked the pack and one came out, he has done it again

2:18:58 > 2:19:05there, perfect position. What a break this has been.Fantastic

2:19:05 > 2:19:18performance. Just virtually frozen his opponent out. Trump has scored

2:19:18 > 2:19:26something like 85 point since he went 2-0 up.After all that

2:19:26 > 2:19:32wonderful play, just knock this black in and that's all that's

2:19:32 > 2:19:41required. Didn't get the cannon but he will not be worried about that,

2:19:41 > 2:19:4979 ahead. Judd won't concede that 67 remaining, I don't think.

2:19:55 > 2:19:59Disappointing for him. Out of the UK championship. He is conceding, he's

2:19:59 > 2:20:13had enough. So here comes the handshake. You can see has conceded,

2:20:13 > 2:20:21Graeme Dott one six frames in a row, he beats the top seed six frames to

2:20:21 > 2:20:22two.

2:20:22 > 2:20:25he beats the top seed six frames to two.

2:20:25 > 2:20:30A dramatic finish in the end, from 2-0 down, with a break of 86 in

2:20:30 > 2:20:34frame three, Graeme Dott pushed in winning six in a row to dispose of

2:20:34 > 2:20:43the number two in the world, which means that this championship has now

2:20:43 > 2:20:47lost 11, Mark Selby, number two Judd Trump and number three, Ding Junhui.

2:20:47 > 2:20:54Can you sum up the achievement? It a massive win for him, I know him

2:20:54 > 2:20:57well, I think it's been on the cards. I know how hard he has been

2:20:57 > 2:21:01working on his game, I know how well he's been playing and this kind of

2:21:01 > 2:21:07result has been simmering on the surface. I'm delighted for him, it

2:21:07 > 2:21:12was a brilliant performance.From 2-0 down, I think that third frame,

2:21:12 > 2:21:16we just saw him starting to warm up and here he comes, warmed up now and

2:21:16 > 2:21:19into the next round, congratulations. A brilliant

2:21:19 > 2:21:23victory, from 2-0 down, you went out of the arena, what are you telling

2:21:23 > 2:21:29yourself?Beat him 6-0! I actually felt quite nervous at the start. He

2:21:29 > 2:21:34had a really good chance in the third frame, my good chance to

2:21:34 > 2:21:40settle down, I took the black off the spot.It just went in.It was

2:21:40 > 2:21:45just such an easy shot, if I missed that, it could have been a

2:21:45 > 2:21:50nightmare.Settle down eventually. In the scheme of things, it's just

2:21:50 > 2:21:57one more win along the way, but from the point of view of getting your

2:21:57 > 2:22:01morale up, trying to prove that you're winning, it's a great boost,

2:22:01 > 2:22:05to get a performance like that on the TV table, it must be marvellous.

2:22:05 > 2:22:11It was great to be back on TV, it feels so much better than playing in

2:22:11 > 2:22:15the back.I know Graeme really well as we know, but Graeme is saying

2:22:15 > 2:22:19it's so much better out there. It's also so much easier for someone like

2:22:19 > 2:22:24you.I think it is. You play a safety shot and you get the white

2:22:24 > 2:22:28where you expected to go, and you when you play on the outside tables,

2:22:28 > 2:22:32it's not the same.We have all been in the same situation, away from the

2:22:32 > 2:22:37sharp end of the game and away from the TV tables, it's easy to forget

2:22:37 > 2:22:44when you have got your chance you grasp it. It's like a water feature

2:22:44 > 2:22:51final.I have been playing well, it's the best I have played with the

2:22:51 > 2:22:54last few years. I have been working hard on my game. I'm getting the

2:22:54 > 2:23:01rewards now.We were talking about that, you have had a disappointing

2:23:01 > 2:23:04season last season, you didn't get through the qualifiers, you took

2:23:04 > 2:23:07another scalp at the Crucible. What did you work on over the summer and

2:23:07 > 2:23:13what has made a difference?I think I was getting disillusioned with the

2:23:13 > 2:23:17game. I can't complain that I am honoured outside table because my

2:23:17 > 2:23:21raking leaves and should be out there. It's hard to get motivated --

2:23:21 > 2:23:26might ranking means I should be out there. It's hard to get motivated

2:23:26 > 2:23:30when no one is watching. Then I just wasn't practising, not doing

2:23:30 > 2:23:34anything at all. When I went to see Chris, it gave me something else to

2:23:34 > 2:23:38try, different weight to play and it gave me something back.I was

2:23:38 > 2:23:42speaking about it, you played basically the cue ball for a week,

2:23:42 > 2:23:45trying to find the middle of the white and being able to hit it,

2:23:45 > 2:23:51where are you with that?Still nowhere near it, probably!Is this

2:23:51 > 2:23:56true, you had one white ball for a week and you just hit it up and down

2:23:56 > 2:24:05the spots for the?A little bit, maybe a little bit more.You have

2:24:05 > 2:24:11less life than I do, you're trying to take over my nickname!Very

2:24:11 > 2:24:17rarely do I use the playing balls. It's nice to know what the centre

2:24:17 > 2:24:23is.As Chris would say, I was completely uncoordinated before I

2:24:23 > 2:24:27saw him and now I'm feeling better. And now you're into the last 16,

2:24:27 > 2:24:35first time for three years. When you look at this progress in the UK

2:24:35 > 2:24:39championship, it has been the weakest of all the majors. Is there

2:24:39 > 2:24:41a reason for that, is it to something that he failed to get to

2:24:41 > 2:24:47grips with?I think I got one is to the semis and Stephen Hendry beat

2:24:47 > 2:24:57me. I just never have got on with it, I just would rather every

2:24:57 > 2:25:03tournament was at the Crucible.So it's looking like it's going to be

2:25:03 > 2:25:09Stephen Maguire or Liang Wenbo, how you looking at that? It's nice to

2:25:09 > 2:25:14finish a match like that, it gives you confidence. They are both

2:25:14 > 2:25:20fantastic players.Thank you very much, good luck for the next round.

2:25:20 > 2:25:25Let's have a quick look to see how your prospective opponents are

2:25:25 > 2:25:30doing, this is the situation on table three, Liang Wenbo who made

2:25:30 > 2:25:35the final couple of

2:25:35 > 2:25:38table three, Liang Wenbo who made the final couple of years ago,

2:25:38 > 2:25:42against Stephen Maguire, it is three frames apiece. Maguire is on break

2:25:42 > 2:25:46of 29, so that could go all the way. A very close and enjoyable contest

2:25:46 > 2:25:57from what I'm hearing. And table four, Lyu Haotian against Marco Fu,

2:25:57 > 2:26:04it's now 3-2, so Marco is coming back at him. This is all going very

2:26:04 > 2:26:09intriguingly in these matters. A straightforward victory though for

2:26:09 > 2:26:14Graeme Dott over the world number two.

2:26:14 > 2:26:18The other much we have been watching

2:26:18 > 2:26:18two. The other much we have been watching

2:26:18 > 2:26:24features the all Wales confrontation between Ryan Day and Mark Williams.

2:26:24 > 2:26:32A very distinguished career in snooker for the player, four finals,

2:26:32 > 2:26:38and he is in the race for the Masters. He is in the 16th

2:26:38 > 2:26:40qualifying position for Alexandra Palace.

2:26:40 > 2:26:44qualifying position for Alexandra Palace. This is not just about what

2:26:44 > 2:26:49happens here in York, it is about what is going to be the last couple

2:26:49 > 2:26:55of spots in the Masters. Ryan is in the last olivine position, Neil

2:26:55 > 2:27:00Robertson is hot on his heels. Stephen Maguire is not out of this,

2:27:00 > 2:27:02if you can go deep into the tournament, he could into action by

2:27:02 > 2:27:08the Masters is concerned.

2:27:08 > 2:27:10tournament, he could into action by the Masters is concerned. It's an

2:27:10 > 2:27:14intriguing position, you both won the Masters, Neil Robertson has got

2:27:14 > 2:27:19a lot of pressure to try and make sure he's there. He has, and it's

2:27:19 > 2:27:23been quite a long road back for Neil Robertson in terms of winning big

2:27:23 > 2:27:28events. I don't know if I'm right in saying he was the last one aside

2:27:28 > 2:27:33from Mark Selby who won this couple of years ago. He's back playing the

2:27:33 > 2:27:36way we know he can and that's the most important thing. Whether or not

2:27:36 > 2:27:40he gets in the Masters for me, I think I have been watching him

2:27:40 > 2:27:45closely over the last few months and he's almost there.Ryan Day, a word

2:27:45 > 2:27:47about him because after that conversation about the best player

2:27:47 > 2:27:54never to win a world ranking title, on one hand, it's flattering to be

2:27:54 > 2:27:58in that conversation but it's also very frustrating and he was the last

2:27:58 > 2:28:01one that we had been talking about and he's done it at long last. And I

2:28:01 > 2:28:04think everyone in the game is pleased that he has done it because

2:28:04 > 2:28:07he is a lovely guy and a great player. It shows that players can

2:28:07 > 2:28:12mature at different times in your career and learning ring craft does

2:28:12 > 2:28:19not come as easily as it does to others. He has got all the pieces of

2:28:19 > 2:28:23the jigsaw together now. The race to the Masters, it's fascinating how

2:28:23 > 2:28:28many great players who are involved which may not get in. The Masters

2:28:28 > 2:28:33many years ago, without being disrespectful, 12 people and then

2:28:33 > 2:28:39some made up the numbers. Invitational in the actual sense.

2:28:39 > 2:28:43Perhaps not quite as strong. Now all that all of a sudden there is the

2:28:43 > 2:28:47possibility of absolutely great players who have been world

2:28:47 > 2:28:50champions and they would be in the Masters because they have not been

2:28:50 > 2:28:56on the leaderboard enough.We shall see, because it's certainly a

2:28:56 > 2:29:01subplot here at York. Ryan Day is definitely in that. Having been in a

2:29:01 > 2:29:06four major finals, he finally got over the line in Riga and it has had

2:29:06 > 2:29:08all of his fellow pros talking.

2:29:15 > 2:29:18So so, there you are, the snooker nearly man, bashing your head

2:29:18 > 2:29:21against the wall to win an event, getting to some finals and never

2:29:21 > 2:29:25getting there. You finally win an event and then your favourite cue

2:29:25 > 2:29:31breaks. A bit upsetting, really? Yeah and you know, we've had

2:29:31 > 2:29:42problems with cues travelling around over the years, on a flight, getting

2:29:42 > 2:29:50broke, but this was with someone in the trade and it is broken halfway

2:29:50 > 2:29:55through, I wouldn't be very happy. It's testament to his skill that

2:29:55 > 2:29:59he's found a replacement and pushed on because a great player and

2:29:59 > 2:30:04definitely more in the tank.It can take a long time when something like

2:30:04 > 2:30:09that happens, getting used to a new cue. Especially under pressure. You

2:30:09 > 2:30:17can feel OK in practice. You go back to your habits.Yes, you're OK in

2:30:17 > 2:30:20practice, but under pressure, the cue is throwing off differently. If

2:30:20 > 2:30:26it does that, you're going to miss. It's about timing and distance, if

2:30:26 > 2:30:29you're using side is going to be very tough for him.But not

2:30:29 > 2:30:36impossible.Not impossible and he is supremely talented, a very gifted

2:30:36 > 2:30:45player and at times, he gets so much spin. You feel he needs to go up in

2:30:45 > 2:30:50size almost because he gets so much because he's overscrewing things

2:30:50 > 2:30:54even when he doesn't mean to.The other thing in the past is not

2:30:54 > 2:30:57knowing perhaps when there's a bit of danger in a frame and tactically

2:30:57 > 2:31:02not playing the right shot but I think he's come to terms with that.

2:31:02 > 2:31:07I'm not sure, a bit like myself, that criticism is levelled at us in

2:31:07 > 2:31:11terms of not playing safe, not knowing how to play and I don't

2:31:11 > 2:31:15think it's true. I don't think you achieve what he's achieved, and

2:31:15 > 2:31:19other players as well, without having that string to your bow. I

2:31:19 > 2:31:24think he might just get them wrong. Everyone has strengths and

2:31:24 > 2:31:30weaknesses. He wouldn't be as strong in that area of the game as he is in

2:31:30 > 2:31:34scoring and break-building and he isn't as strong as other players in

2:31:34 > 2:31:39other areas but others don't have the ability he has. I think it's a

2:31:39 > 2:31:45matter, not if, but when he'll win again and I think he's an

2:31:45 > 2:31:48exceptionally dangerous player on his day and I guess the question is,

2:31:48 > 2:31:52when it's not your day, you still got to find a way to win and maybe

2:31:52 > 2:31:56that's something he should look at.

2:31:58 > 2:32:04So, will he find a way to win here? When The Last Leg the match it was

2:32:04 > 2:32:121-1. Mark Williams took the third to go ahead on 2-1. Williams, 33-0 up,

2:32:12 > 2:32:12back to

2:32:12 > 2:32:17go ahead on 2-1. Williams, 33-0 up, back to Ken and Dennis.

2:32:21 > 2:32:26COMMENTATOR: That was a bullet shot, he's left it at the other end of the

2:32:26 > 2:32:30table. He didn't get into it at all. He should have blocked the path,

2:32:30 > 2:32:37been tight on the cushion and been six, eight inches across the table

2:32:37 > 2:32:44-- that was a poor workshops. Looks like he's going to cannon and

2:32:44 > 2:32:49there's every chance he may go on to the black. It looks natural to

2:32:49 > 2:32:56cannon the red. Make sure the pot and just hope you get on a colour.

2:33:00 > 2:33:03That's not bad.

2:33:32 > 2:33:38Just wondering whether he has an angle on the red, if he Pons it he

2:33:38 > 2:33:44could bring the blue into play -- if he pots it.I don't think so

2:33:44 > 2:33:49otherwise he'd have played that shot. Would love to get the blue

2:33:49 > 2:33:54back on its spot.

2:34:06 > 2:34:11Might develop one of these reds on the left-hand side cushion. Yes,

2:34:11 > 2:34:18staying nicely on the other end to the yellow pocket. Good shot.

2:34:37 > 2:34:42That's what he's looking at, going back to the red just to see what

2:34:42 > 2:34:50kind of an angle he'd require to get on the red and bring the blue and

2:34:50 > 2:34:57red into play. Has he got the angle this time?

2:35:21 > 2:35:28That's worked out very nice indeed. He's got an angle I think on the

2:35:28 > 2:35:37pink to bring the four reds, at least a couple into play. Yeah,

2:35:37 > 2:35:46that's the angle. He could force it in, he has enough angle to force it.

2:35:46 > 2:35:50With these fine clocks you can create a much better angle than you

2:35:50 > 2:36:00used used to be able to with the heavy cloths. And that looks pretty

2:36:00 > 2:36:15good to me. -- with these fine cloths.

2:37:18 > 2:37:23Yes, he's quite a tall lad, Ryan, about six foot three, something like

2:37:23 > 2:37:28that, and he couldn't reach it. Needing the extension and even then,

2:37:28 > 2:37:32it's quite a stretch. As long as you keep one foot on the floor, you're

2:37:32 > 2:37:40OK. If the foot leaves the floor, it's a foul shot. Unlike the clubs

2:37:40 > 2:37:45were used to learn to play income if you had one foot in the D area, you

2:37:45 > 2:37:56are OK. -- the clubs we used to learn to play in, if you had one

2:37:56 > 2:38:07foot in the D area.Not sure if that was a heavy contact. A bit short.

2:38:16 > 2:38:19Two comfortable reds still available and then the difficult one, that's

2:38:19 > 2:38:25going to be the key ball in this frame. He's only nine points ahead.

2:38:25 > 2:38:35He's already planning his route to try and move that's difficult red.

2:38:41 > 2:38:45You saw him mumbling to himself. He's trying to work out the scores

2:38:45 > 2:38:54in his head. That red that's close to the right-hand side cushion,

2:38:54 > 2:39:03that's going to be the key ball in the frame.Normally you'd try and

2:39:03 > 2:39:09move the red from the blue, you'd leave the white at the other end

2:39:09 > 2:39:14just to pot it and can it out. If you played for the pink it would be

2:39:14 > 2:39:18so difficult, you'd have to be so precise. You'd have more margin for

2:39:18 > 2:39:21error in a few play on the blue here. Interesting to see if he does

2:39:21 > 2:39:29that. He could leave the Green also but it's a standard sort of shot, if

2:39:29 > 2:39:36he rolls through the red. If he plays for the pink he's got to be

2:39:36 > 2:39:40absolutely pinpoint. If he plays for the blue and comes off the top

2:39:40 > 2:39:50cushion, a bit more margin for error. Let's see how he feels. This

2:39:50 > 2:39:57has to be absolutely spot on. Has he gone on a bit too far at the Mac is

2:39:57 > 2:40:08very natural angle? -- or is it a natural angle? You can always tell

2:40:08 > 2:40:13from the body language, if he goes down quick it looks pretty good. I

2:40:13 > 2:40:19think if he had hit it into the left-hand side of the pocket he

2:40:19 > 2:40:27could have hit the red. Now it's just going to be, you'd expect

2:40:27 > 2:40:40whoever pots this red will win the frame. He's got a 28 point lead but

2:40:40 > 2:40:47he'll still be disappointed not to win the frame from that visit.Yes,

2:40:47 > 2:40:53especially after the last frame when he made breaks of 65 and 41.

2:41:00 > 2:41:07He's got a slight double-kiss. Is the red going to go far enough? Just

2:41:07 > 2:41:10about.

2:41:16 > 2:41:21Is he going to be brave enough to go off the baulk cushion, try and hit

2:41:21 > 2:41:27the red on the way back? Having a look at it, he's going to look from

2:41:27 > 2:41:32the other end.If it was close to the pocket you'd have a go. If he

2:41:32 > 2:41:39hits the cushion, there's no way he's going to pot it.The only

2:41:39 > 2:41:46problem, it's a difficult safety shot if he tries to play it on this

2:41:46 > 2:41:54side of the table. He's got to try and even knock it off the knuckle of

2:41:54 > 2:41:59the pocket, but you're never sure where the red is going to go. I'm

2:41:59 > 2:42:03not sure what the best shot is here. If he tries that then the white is

2:42:03 > 2:42:08going to go close to the corner pocket. It isn't a natural angle, if

2:42:08 > 2:42:13egos past the others to go on the cushion. He's got to play it with

2:42:13 > 2:42:18right-hand guide and if he makes it it would be a number label shot.

2:42:18 > 2:42:21From that angle, the odds would be against not knocking in the red, but

2:42:21 > 2:42:27here we go -- it would be an unbelievable shot. Give him credit

2:42:27 > 2:42:38if he manages it.Foul and a miss. Again, Mark is quite happy to have

2:42:38 > 2:42:44this replaced.Quite a long way away from it as well so he's going to

2:42:44 > 2:42:50have to readjust this. The other thing, if he misses this time he'll

2:42:50 > 2:42:54be warned because three misses when you can see full ball, you lose the

2:42:54 > 2:43:03frame. Peggy Lee there just checking the monitor to see exactly where the

2:43:03 > 2:43:13cue ball was. He's having to play it with side to make the angle.I'm not

2:43:13 > 2:43:18sure it was that close to the top cushion, was it? I think that the

2:43:18 > 2:43:32cue ball was a bit further wrap. -- a bit further up.He's just ask Mark

2:43:32 > 2:43:37and Mark has agreed with him. Further up

2:43:37 > 2:43:44and Mark has agreed with him. Further up?Yeah it was a bit

2:43:44 > 2:43:52further up. That's OK. Now, second attempt. If he doesn't hit it this

2:43:52 > 2:44:03time he'll be warned.Foul and a miss.

2:44:07 > 2:44:20Don't forget to warn him. Having a laugh with each other. Is he winding

2:44:20 > 2:44:24him up a little bit? He's quite a character, Mark, that's for sure. He

2:44:24 > 2:44:30can play the shot from here if he wishes. He's got to put him back

2:44:30 > 2:44:39income is surely. -- to put him back in, surely.

2:44:43 > 2:44:49Strange choice. I would have definitely put him back in. How is

2:44:49 > 2:44:53he going to get it safe? He couldn't try the same shot again otherwise

2:44:53 > 2:44:59he'd lose the frame. And he's left a possible pots for Ryan Day. Strange

2:44:59 > 2:45:04choice from Mark.

2:45:15 > 2:45:21It may have worked to his advantage because Ryan seemed to hit it much

2:45:21 > 2:45:32harder than the he intended and didn't come close to the pot. He's

2:45:32 > 2:45:38gifted a great opportunity now to Mark Williams. But the pink into the

2:45:38 > 2:45:44yellow pocket and get it back on its spot.

2:45:47 > 2:45:59He's going to need all the way up to the black to win the frame.

2:46:09 > 2:46:17Brown to blue is always the tricky one when you're clearing up. As long

2:46:17 > 2:46:25as you get perfect on the blue, no problem. That's pretty good. Don't

2:46:25 > 2:46:34want to be using the top cushion, you want to play it in such a way,

2:46:34 > 2:46:44leave the pink as easy as possible. And that's absolutely perfect.

2:46:54 > 2:47:01Well, the black goes in. Never lies to lose a frame, when you make a

2:47:01 > 2:47:06break of 61 and then you lose it, he's got something to think about,

2:47:06 > 2:47:11Mark Williams. He'll be delighted to be in the frame.

2:47:11 > 2:47:13Mark Williams. He'll be delighted to be in the frame. We'll catch up with

2:47:13 > 2:47:14him before the interval.

2:47:14 > 2:47:14be in the frame. We'll catch up with him before the interval. Williams is

2:47:14 > 2:47:2012 points in front.

2:47:27 > 2:47:31That was an uncharacteristic mistake from Mark Williams.

2:47:38 > 2:47:48He could try and cut the red. Can miss the blue and the black going

2:47:48 > 2:48:00back up to the baulk. This looks absolutely perfect, if he can get on

2:48:00 > 2:48:06the black. Looks really good, he may have an angle on the black to free

2:48:06 > 2:48:11up the red on the side cushion. I wonder, does he?That would have

2:48:11 > 2:48:17been a bonus but even if he doesn't, he can get on the red. He can take

2:48:17 > 2:48:26that red out. Well, what was that? He obviously didn't have the angle

2:48:26 > 2:48:33too can be other red but he should never have missed a black -- to

2:48:33 > 2:48:42cannon the other red. He's annoyed with himself. And he won't be very

2:48:42 > 2:48:52happy with that. He's still not happy with that tip, is he? One of

2:48:52 > 2:48:58those delicate shots where he seems to be playing it with a touch of

2:48:58 > 2:49:06side. Where is the cue ball going to finish? Is he OK? Does he have an

2:49:06 > 2:49:09angle on the yellow to come back pass the pink and bring the red into

2:49:09 > 2:49:19play? He could drop behind it. I think he could do. He'd be playing

2:49:19 > 2:49:23to move this, rather than drop behind it, if you have the correct

2:49:23 > 2:49:31angle that is. Doesn't think he has all stop -- doesn't think he has.

2:49:48 > 2:49:53Going to try and come off two cushions and land on the red. Not a

2:49:53 > 2:50:10bad effort, not bad at all. What a great shot that was.Great escape.I

2:50:10 > 2:50:13love that film, Steve McQueen.

2:50:31 > 2:50:36Well, he has all sorts of choices available. The yellow to play

2:50:36 > 2:50:41behind, he can play behind the black, he can even take on the pot.

2:50:41 > 2:50:49Depends how he feels. Deciding on the pot.

2:50:53 > 2:50:59And a half chance for Ryan Day here. But I think the pressure, I know

2:50:59 > 2:51:03it's the best of 11 but when you go to the mid-session interval it adds

2:51:03 > 2:51:08a bit of pressure if you're trying to level the door. If you're trying

2:51:08 > 2:51:17to get a 3-1 advantage it's amazing how you can miss a few balls.That

2:51:17 > 2:51:25will give him a bit of confidence. He struck that really nicely indeed.

2:51:25 > 2:51:29Would love to have been straight on the brown. He's going to have two

2:51:29 > 2:51:37pot the brown and screw off the side cushion here.

2:51:45 > 2:51:49He's hitting the ball a bit harder than I think he needs to, I think

2:51:49 > 2:51:58that's a sign of pressure. Doesn't have the ideal angle. If the pink

2:51:58 > 2:52:02isn't in the way, the angle on the yellow would be nice. Looks like

2:52:02 > 2:52:10he's concerned, the path of the cue ball. Looks like it's going into the

2:52:10 > 2:52:16pink and he won't end up with the green that way. Not quite sure how

2:52:16 > 2:52:20he's going to judge this one, Dennis. As long as he doesn't go

2:52:20 > 2:52:28past the middle pocket, he will be on a comfortable green. Going all

2:52:28 > 2:52:32the way around the ankles, looks pretty good to me but is it hard

2:52:32 > 2:52:40enough? He's going to have two pot is it with the rest.Good attempt, I

2:52:40 > 2:52:46think he'd settle with that. The natural angle of the cue ball, going

2:52:46 > 2:52:52back into the brown.

2:52:54 > 2:53:00Why was he screwing it in? He only had to play it with top spin and

2:53:00 > 2:53:08drop the green in. He's feeling the pressure, Ryan Day.

2:53:14 > 2:53:18This is a clever little shot.

2:53:33 > 2:53:39A bit of a chance, this. It will cut in. It is a thin one. As long as he

2:53:39 > 2:53:44avoids the right middle pocket. If he attempts the pot, which I'm sure

2:53:44 > 2:53:51he's going to do, be careful of the middle pocket. Yes, no problem. Is

2:53:51 > 2:53:55it going to drop nicely on the brown, that's the question. If it

2:53:55 > 2:54:09keeps on running... But it hasn't. The worst possible place it could

2:54:09 > 2:54:14have finished. Amazing, you go all that distance and it drops there.

2:54:14 > 2:54:19Yes but I think he can cut the brown in. Just before the middle pocket

2:54:19 > 2:54:26and it's a natural angle back to the blue. Yes, it's there. Oh, a little

2:54:26 > 2:54:31kiss on the black has taken the pace off the cue ball but he's still on

2:54:31 > 2:54:37the blue. He's ten points in the league, the blue is just required.

2:54:37 > 2:54:4515 ahead with just 13 on the table -- he's ten points in the lead.

2:54:45 > 2:54:51He'll be very relieved, it's another frame that's gone away from Ryan

2:54:51 > 2:55:00Day. He should have won this frame a couple of times over.

2:55:07 > 2:55:16Yes, pretty good. He's going to wait at the table. Ryan Day will be very

2:55:16 > 2:55:21disappointed. Mark Williams leading 3-1.

2:55:21 > 2:55:25disappointed. Mark Williams leading 3-1.The two frame advantage, we'll

2:55:25 > 2:55:30be back with that match shortly but a quick update on table three. Even

2:55:30 > 2:55:37stave 3-3 until frame Devon. -- even Stevens.

2:55:37 > 2:55:39stave 3-3 until frame Devon. -- even Stevens. Liang Wenbo forcing the

2:55:39 > 2:55:45reason but it black and Alan and Steve, this is it.Playing the tried

2:55:45 > 2:55:49and trusted method of side to side, black and white. There's a

2:55:49 > 2:55:52possibility of a double from that shot but it's in the lap of the

2:55:52 > 2:55:56gods, if you miss it, the balls go. Couldn't have played it any better.

2:55:56 > 2:56:04The only thing is, the black is a couple of inches from the side

2:56:04 > 2:56:07cushion and Liang Wenbo, we don't know what shot he'll play but I

2:56:07 > 2:56:16imagine it will be a slow double and the black back across.Obviously if

2:56:16 > 2:56:21you can get the cue ball safe, that's desirable. At the same time,

2:56:21 > 2:56:26a bit of insurance. He'll have been delighted where that ended up after

2:56:26 > 2:56:30missing it looks like a relatively straightforward safety shot for

2:56:30 > 2:56:34Stephen Maguire but he's got to be careful of the black ball going over

2:56:34 > 2:56:40a corner pocket.Yeah, just off straight, stunted around four

2:56:40 > 2:56:49cushions.He might catch the knuckle.Oh, a disaster. -- stunt it

2:56:49 > 2:56:52around four cushions.If you're playing that shot with a view to

2:56:52 > 2:56:58going through the middle pocket, if it catches the jaws, you never know

2:56:58 > 2:57:03where it's going to go and it's in the lap of the dots. He should pot

2:57:03 > 2:57:10this -- the lap of the gods.Massive frame, that, frame and seven.It

2:57:10 > 2:57:21sure was. So, Wenbo forcing the issue, potting the black to go 4-3.

2:57:21 > 2:57:30And on frame four, Lu Haotian, the man who has already beaten two

2:57:30 > 2:57:36winners in the past, Peter Ebdon. He's made 101 against Marco Fu. He

2:57:36 > 2:57:44was 4-2 up and now he is 4-3 in front, 20 years old. Three seasons

2:57:44 > 2:57:47in the game and he's taking it to Marco Fu so we'll keep our eyes

2:57:47 > 2:57:53peeled on this one. Very natty footwear as well, like the style. It

2:57:53 > 2:57:58remind me of Ken Doherty all those years ago. Anyway, let's go back to

2:57:58 > 2:58:06the Williams Day match and Williams has a two frame advantage.

2:58:06 > 2:58:13COMMENTATOR:Ryan is looking to split the pack and get the cue ball

2:58:13 > 2:58:17behind the pack.

2:58:26 > 2:58:29Could be playing these shots for a while unless they look at the

2:58:29 > 2:58:41referee for a possible re-rack. Well... He picked one out but

2:58:41 > 2:58:48unfortunately he's not on the black.

2:59:41 > 2:59:47That's a terrific long pot there from Mark Williams, it really is.

2:59:47 > 2:59:57Full-blooded full-back. -- full-blooded for that. And that's a

2:59:57 > 3:00:01sign of an all-time great, when you get a chance like that, going

3:00:01 > 3:00:03full-blooded for it.

3:01:28 > 3:01:32He may play into the reds from the blue. He's got the red

3:01:32 > 3:01:32He may play into the reds from the blue. He's got the red over the

3:01:32 > 3:01:38middle pocket. That's a bit of insurance.

3:01:39 > 3:01:43And that's what he's done. What a great split, because he knew if he

3:01:43 > 3:01:48wasn't going to drop nicely on a red, and that's what's happened, he

3:01:48 > 3:01:52knew that one over the middle pocket.

3:01:56 > 3:01:59Not all the players would have thought of that route, Ken.Yeah, he

3:01:59 > 3:02:05hit it lovely. Got the apex ball perfectly full on.

3:02:07 > 3:02:10Always had that red over the middle pocket. Couldn't have played it much

3:02:10 > 3:02:14better. His opening red, that was really what's created this chance.

3:02:14 > 3:02:19He had to take it on full bloodied.

3:02:22 > 3:02:28He's going to get his just rewards you would feel from this position.

3:02:28 > 3:02:33He had to play that with a touch of side, so there was no problem there

3:02:33 > 3:02:34with the new tip.

3:02:39 > 3:02:45The more frames he plays with it, the better it will become.

3:03:31 > 3:03:37He's got the perfect angle on the black to leave himself at least four

3:03:37 > 3:03:38reds.

3:03:43 > 3:03:48Playing the white into an area where you've got multiple choices

3:03:48 > 3:03:54sometimes.

3:03:55 > 3:03:58Not too many pots away from securing this frame.

3:04:05 > 3:04:10I go back to the frame before the middle session interval, it played

3:04:10 > 3:04:13quite a big part in this match.

3:04:22 > 3:04:28He can't do much about this. It was a long pot that got Mark in.

3:04:31 > 3:04:35He should have won the fourth frame and the frame before that as well.

3:04:35 > 3:04:37Had chances.

3:04:39 > 3:04:46He's letting it slip slightly. Mark Williams has grown in stature in

3:04:46 > 3:04:48this match, getting more confident.

3:04:50 > 3:04:54This is a lovely break he's put together here.

3:04:58 > 3:05:01It's not going to be easy to make the century. The two reds are the

3:05:01 > 3:05:08wrong side of the table for Mark, being a left-hander.

3:05:13 > 3:05:18It doesn't really matter, he'd still love to make a century. 403 he's

3:05:18 > 3:05:28made in his career. He never carried on to try to make the century break.

3:05:30 > 3:05:34I think all players like to make centuries now, I think because of

3:05:34 > 3:05:39the stats. It wasn't a big thing maybe 15 or 20 years ago.

3:05:44 > 3:05:49We've got all these stats now. That's an excellent pot to keep the

3:05:49 > 3:05:50break going.

3:05:59 > 3:06:02That's a nice indication of sometimes how you're feeling, how

3:06:02 > 3:06:05you're playing. He's certainly playing well. He's coming off the

3:06:05 > 3:06:11back of that, his 19th career ranking win in Northern Ireland,

3:06:11 > 3:06:16Belfast. That was only last week.

3:06:20 > 3:06:23Every chance now because he's got a nice angle to pot the black and get

3:06:23 > 3:06:29onto the yellow. He could go in and out of the baulk area between the

3:06:29 > 3:06:32yellow and brown.

3:06:34 > 3:06:40That's what he's played. He's going to be close to the yellow here.

3:06:42 > 3:06:46He might just have spoiled the century break.

3:06:51 > 3:06:58To knock that into the middle pocket at that pace, we know how tight they

3:06:58 > 3:07:00are - that was some shot that!

3:07:06 > 3:07:09Great shot. Yeah wonderful break.

3:07:12 > 3:07:22His 21st century this season. He made 26 last season.Foul.A

3:07:22 > 3:07:25billiard shot to finish the break off with. He'll not be concerned

3:07:25 > 3:07:28about that. That was a terrific century. But he got in with a

3:07:28 > 3:07:33terrific long red and well, the rest was history. Lovely century. He

3:07:33 > 3:07:37extends his lead.

3:08:18 > 3:08:23MUSIC

3:09:02 > 3:09:06Quite an unusual break off there from Mark Williams. Wasn't using the

3:09:06 > 3:09:10conventional little bit of right-hand side around the four

3:09:10 > 3:09:16cushions. Because of that, he's left Ryan Day a chance. Good opening pot,

3:09:16 > 3:09:20a little bit low on the black, but again, he's got the angle to go into

3:09:20 > 3:09:24the pack here.

3:09:36 > 3:09:39It's not happening for Ryan Day today. He's looked very edgy right

3:09:39 > 3:09:43from the beginning. Of course, losing those couple of close frames

3:09:43 > 3:09:48won't have helped him.

3:10:31 > 3:10:35He could do with a sizeable contribution here, Ryan Day, to get

3:10:35 > 3:10:39a little bit of confidence back.

3:10:44 > 3:10:51That's not going to do his confidence a lot of good. But it may

3:10:51 > 3:10:58work to his advantage to play it for this one. He's still looking at it,

3:10:58 > 3:11:01but he thought maybe the one at the back of the pack might go, but it

3:11:01 > 3:11:04doesn't.

3:11:13 > 3:11:17He knew straight away he hadn't hit that. Decelerated and look where the

3:11:17 > 3:11:27white's finished. It's a tough game when you lose you're timing. -- your

3:11:27 > 3:11:31timing

3:12:00 > 3:12:04One good pot on this black and concentrate on the black, the

3:12:04 > 3:12:07natural angle of the cue ball going into the pack here. He missed one

3:12:07 > 3:12:10earlier. If he pots this and splits them

3:12:10 > 3:12:20nicely, it will be a good chance. How's your luck? Not the best.

3:13:31 > 3:13:33APPLAUSE

3:14:28 > 3:14:31Just looking at the six reds around the pink spot, I think one of them

3:14:31 > 3:14:34might be available. Mark's had a look at them. Didn't matter what

3:14:34 > 3:14:40side of the blue he got on there. With the two reds up the other end

3:14:40 > 3:14:42of the table.

3:14:43 > 3:14:50He's underhit that by a long way. That's a careless one.

3:14:52 > 3:14:55Should have been a lot easier than this.

3:15:00 > 3:15:04He's certainly got to bring reds into play. He's got to be careful if

3:15:04 > 3:15:08he screws back that he doesn't go into the middle pocket there.

3:15:08 > 3:15:15Oh, he's played it well, well he's potted two. He only has to pot one

3:15:15 > 3:15:20colour. A kiss on the blue.

3:17:48 > 3:17:52It's getting a little bit more difficult now.

3:18:03 > 3:18:1132 the difference. So he needs the black and he needs a red. And

3:18:11 > 3:18:14another colour to secure the frame.

3:18:16 > 3:18:23A frame that he had to win, really. 5-1 behind against Mark Williams,

3:18:23 > 3:18:27not much of a chance. But 4-2, he's still in there.

3:18:53 > 3:18:57Just the black to make certain.

3:19:03 > 3:19:11This will put him 47 in front with a possible 43 remaining

3:19:40 > 3:19:46He's missed the pink by a long way. Mark Williams stays in his chair. He

3:19:46 > 3:19:52says, "Thank you very much." So Ryan Day gets another frame on the board.

3:19:52 > 3:19:57But Mark Williams is only two away from victory. He leads 4-2.

3:19:57 > 3:20:02STUDIO: So he was three behind, but Ryan Day continues to nibble away

3:20:02 > 3:20:02into

3:20:02 > 3:20:03Ryan Day continues to nibble away into his colleague's lead. Can he do

3:20:03 > 3:20:07it again? Can he maintain the momentum as we head into frame

3:20:07 > 3:20:08seven?

3:20:19 > 3:20:26He's not happy with that. The red into the green pocket.

3:20:47 > 3:20:50If he wanted to be on the pink to the left centre, he hasn't hit it

3:20:50 > 3:20:53hard enough.

3:20:58 > 3:21:04This black is very tricky and very missable. He's normally very, very

3:21:04 > 3:21:11good with the rest. Again, he's putting a little bit of side on the

3:21:11 > 3:21:14tip makes it a little bit harder. He's got it, that's an excellent

3:21:14 > 3:21:20shot..Very well done. Nice control.

3:21:48 > 3:21:52Every time he puts a bit of side on the cue ball, he's struggling with

3:21:52 > 3:21:58it. He's looking at it again. He didn't fancy that.

3:21:58 > 3:22:03Put a lot of left-hand side. He's not sure where it's going to go.

3:22:22 > 3:22:26Ryan Day has to take advantage of these situations. He did in the last

3:22:26 > 3:22:34frame. He really needs to try and hurt Mark Williams. And get back

3:22:34 > 3:22:41into this match. Really got to make the most of these opportunities.

3:22:47 > 3:22:51Plain and simple he's got to take this frame, because if he drops 5-2

3:22:51 > 3:22:55behind, the first to six, wouldn't give him much of a chance. If he

3:22:55 > 3:22:58wins this, that's game back on again.

3:23:38 > 3:23:44Make no mistake, Ryan Day, when he gets on a run win frames -- he can

3:23:44 > 3:23:49win frames in a very short space of time.

3:23:49 > 3:23:59He made 39 centuries last season, just 12 this season. 305 in total.

3:23:59 > 3:24:03So a terrific break-builder, that's for sure.

3:24:12 > 3:24:18Nicely played, delicate little cannon that.

3:25:37 > 3:25:41Couple of reds below the pink pot into the bottom right-hand corner

3:25:41 > 3:25:45pocket. He may try and just drop onto those there.

3:25:45 > 3:25:48Looks pretty good.

3:25:52 > 3:25:58He pushes the cue ball through here, he could be on possibly pink or

3:25:58 > 3:26:01black.

3:26:24 > 3:26:31Keep saying how laid back Mark Williams is, but inside maybe

3:26:31 > 3:26:37watching Ryan winning the frame here and thinking about the red that he

3:26:37 > 3:26:41tried to cut into the green pocket there, when he applied a little bit

3:26:41 > 3:26:44of side. That's the only thing he's been struggling with, with the new

3:26:44 > 3:26:48tip, is when he puts side on.

3:26:49 > 3:26:52You can't play the shot without putting side on because you've got

3:26:52 > 3:26:56to play the correct shot otherwise you're going to lose the position.

3:26:56 > 3:27:00But every credit to Ryan Day here.

3:27:48 > 3:27:57Pink would put him 54 ahead. 67 left. So one more red and colour.

3:27:59 > 3:28:03He's got himself back in this match now.

3:28:11 > 3:28:15Yeah, you can tell by his body language and the way he's moving

3:28:15 > 3:28:18round the table, he's much more relaxed now. He didn't look very

3:28:18 > 3:28:22good a few frames back in his seat.

3:28:28 > 3:28:33He loos a little bit edgy, didn't he? -- looked a little bit edgy,

3:28:33 > 3:28:38didn't he? A couple of frames got away that he felt he should have

3:28:38 > 3:28:41won.

3:28:44 > 3:28:47He needed to take this opportunity to give himself a chance of winning

3:28:47 > 3:28:53this match. There was a bad miss from Mark Williamsment He's

3:28:53 > 3:28:56struggling a little bit with that tip at the moment.

3:29:04 > 3:29:07Doesn't matter about missing that red. Mark puts his cue on the table

3:29:07 > 3:29:14and concedes the frame. So from 4-1 down, all of a sudden,

3:29:14 > 3:29:19Ryan Day is back in this match. He's one behind at 4-3 to Mark Williams.

3:29:19 > 3:29:26STUDIO: Day one, third frame in a row, following up that knock of 76

3:29:26 > 3:29:34with a 65 to level the match. This is the fourth time these two have

3:29:34 > 3:29:37played in a world ranking event this season alone. It's not getting old,

3:29:37 > 3:29:40but it's getting very tight. It's now become pay best of three frames

3:29:40 > 3:29:46for a place in the last 16. This is frame nine, Williams eight points in

3:29:46 > 3:29:51arrears here.

3:30:50 > 3:30:57Foul and a miss.How costly is that going to be?

3:31:28 > 3:31:35Not straightforward here for Mark.

3:31:49 > 3:32:02Straightaway he is faced with this red with a rest. But he can get onto

3:32:02 > 3:32:12the black. The pink is still available also.

3:32:19 > 3:32:29All of a sudden, Mark Williams is finding things very difficult out

3:32:29 > 3:32:41there. Still don't get a lot of reaction from Mark. He's been

3:32:41 > 3:32:44blessed with a terrific temperament through his career. That's why he's

3:32:44 > 3:32:53been so successful. Inside, he mustn't be feeling very comfortable.

3:33:11 > 3:33:16That was a wonderful positional shot from Ryan Day. Judged it off the

3:33:16 > 3:33:27side cushion to perfection. That's why I was surprised, Mark, when he

3:33:27 > 3:33:34was using the rest, didn't role in the red and play for the black. He

3:33:34 > 3:33:38decided to screw back which makes the pot more difficult. If he drops

3:33:38 > 3:33:54that in he'd be on the black that Ryan finished up on.Yeah. Could go

3:33:54 > 3:33:59into the three reds just above the black if he wished. Doesn't want to

3:33:59 > 3:34:02do it on this occasion but he could have done that and been on a choice

3:34:02 > 3:34:07of reds.

3:34:17 > 3:34:20Well...

3:34:28 > 3:34:38Hard to believe. He hasn't missed many over these last few Mac frames.

3:34:38 > 3:34:45Again, fortunate that he's covered the red.He'd have two swerve it a

3:34:45 > 3:34:53little bit but if he pots it he could finish on the blue. That's

3:34:53 > 3:34:59finished a bit awkward for him. Played with a lot of side there.

3:34:59 > 3:35:04Good judgment, that is.

3:35:14 > 3:35:21He may need that rest again.

3:35:33 > 3:35:41Just having a look at those six reds. By sword of covering each

3:35:41 > 3:35:51other an FEI? -- play just sort of covering each other, aren't they?

3:35:51 > 3:35:57He's going to need a cannon to develop them. And there's one that

3:35:57 > 3:36:12must be all -- that must be on. Has he seen something that we couldn't

3:36:12 > 3:36:18see? Don't think so. This must be a long pot to the far corner. This is

3:36:18 > 3:36:33far from a gimme. Looks good. Ooh! He stood up and block our path. It

3:36:33 > 3:36:43looked to be in.Just pulled towards the left hand side cushion. He

3:36:43 > 3:36:54thought it was in when he hit it.He had a bit of an ankle on the blacks

3:36:54 > 3:37:02to possibly play the cannon. -- an angle. I guess he wanted to be

3:37:02 > 3:37:09straight. Just spotted something. I don't think it's on the red, I think

3:37:09 > 3:37:14there's something in front on the cloth. Yes, it looks like a little

3:37:14 > 3:37:23chalk mark, doesn't it? Yeah it's when you play a screw shot, you can

3:37:23 > 3:37:30leave a chalk mark on the cloth. Quite funny why that would be

3:37:30 > 3:37:36bothering him. Only looking at the red now. I didn't think he was even

3:37:36 > 3:37:44attempting the red. This is a tough shot down the rail, especially with

3:37:44 > 3:37:57a bit of pace. Never easy, that shot.He knew he was covering the

3:37:57 > 3:38:01one near the corner pocket but the one he missed as caught the black

3:38:01 > 3:38:05and it is possible.

3:38:09 > 3:38:19Oh, good cueing there. Very good. That was an excellent pot. Right in

3:38:19 > 3:38:24the heart of the pocket, kept perfectly still as well. He's got a

3:38:24 > 3:38:31nice angle, he's looking at the Green but the blue was good as well

3:38:31 > 3:38:36if he wants to go into the pack of reds around the pink.

3:38:42 > 3:38:51OK, he's going to try and maybe get on the blue here. The red to the

3:38:51 > 3:38:57right of the pink, just above the line will go into the bottom right

3:38:57 > 3:39:13hand corner pocket. So he doesn't have to do disturb the reds here.

3:39:36 > 3:39:45That's OK. When he pots the blue he can take the red to the extreme

3:39:45 > 3:39:52right of the four and leave a nice angle. When he pots the red he can

3:39:52 > 3:39:58go into the three reds below the pink and still be on the black or

3:39:58 > 3:40:15pink. This will open things up. Now, is he on the black? No. The red has

3:40:15 > 3:40:20come over and covered it. If he was on the black, it was frame over. Now

3:40:20 > 3:40:24he's got to negotiate a tough pink. Yes, running slightly away from the

3:40:24 > 3:40:37reds. The one next to the black will go. That was a delicate little screw

3:40:37 > 3:40:43shot he played there. Especially being hampered.That was a better

3:40:43 > 3:40:57shot than it looked. He played it nicely. Now, black will put him 30

3:40:57 > 3:41:02points ahead, so just one red and a colour will give him a one-frame

3:41:02 > 3:41:14advantage with a possibletwo to play.Typical Mark Williams, this.

3:41:14 > 3:41:20Virtually sitting out for three frames, as Ryan came back from 3-1

3:41:20 > 3:41:32down. But 3-1 three terrific frames. He's going to have to win two in a

3:41:32 > 3:41:38row if he's going to get through to the next round.

3:41:45 > 3:41:52We mentioned, sitting in his seat, about his temperament, and he's

3:41:52 > 3:41:57showing exactly what a great temperament he has.Yeah, he's got

3:41:57 > 3:42:13great experience and composure. Never blusters. It was a wonderful

3:42:13 > 3:42:21opening pot as well. They're took a tricky red down the rail and cannon

3:42:21 > 3:42:26the black, leaving with a tough opener but he duly obliged with the

3:42:26 > 3:42:32cueing and set up in this nice break.

3:42:51 > 3:42:59That was a terrific long blue.

3:43:06 > 3:43:12Nice break, 72 from the former champion, Mark Williams. Going one

3:43:12 > 3:43:19up with a possible two to play. He leads his compatriot Ryan Day 5-4.

3:43:19 > 3:43:25We have a grandstand finish because Brian Davis took frame ten with 58.

3:43:25 > 3:43:34Just underway in the decider -- Ryan Day took frame ten. The final frame

3:43:34 > 3:43:39they faced was in Riga in the semifinal which is when Ryan beat

3:43:39 > 3:43:43Mark to win that one and then took the title. Haps the omens are good

3:43:43 > 3:43:50for him. Let's see. The best of one.

3:43:53 > 3:44:00COMMENTATOR: Just before you joined us, I don't know what happened to

3:44:00 > 3:44:08Mark's shot. We can show you. Seemed to get a heavy contact, that's for

3:44:08 > 3:44:19sure. Ryan played a careless shots, to the far right corner, which is

3:44:19 > 3:44:25how Mark got in. Safety shot and he put the white straight in the

3:44:25 > 3:44:30pocket. Mark knocked in the red was amongst them until he got the heavy

3:44:30 > 3:44:42contact. Now the chance is there for Mark Selby. You mean Ryan Day?Who

3:44:42 > 3:44:48did I say?Mark Selby!

3:44:52 > 3:44:59What kind of angle does he have on the red here? He has the red to the

3:44:59 > 3:45:09right centre. Stay on the pink here if he can.

3:45:14 > 3:45:22Just having a look to see whether the black pots or the red above it,

3:45:22 > 3:45:33to the corner pocket. I think the red should pot because of the angle.

3:45:33 > 3:45:38Yeah the red definitely pots. He'd love to get that one out the way as

3:45:38 > 3:45:47soon as possible. Not sure where the pink will have to go, directly

3:45:47 > 3:45:53in-line, behind its own spot, which is going to tie up the pink for the

3:45:53 > 3:46:03moment.Yeah, the referee, Becky Li getting the pink in-line and then

3:46:03 > 3:46:09slide it closer to the reds without touching them.I don't think the

3:46:09 > 3:46:13black is on, is it, Dennis? The red pots but I'm not sure about the

3:46:13 > 3:46:31black. We'll soon find out. Well, it definitely does, then.

3:46:31 > 3:46:36So, from that last shot, this black will definitely open things up for

3:46:36 > 3:46:43Ryan Day. Great opportunity. You can see Ryan, he keeps wiping the cloth,

3:46:43 > 3:46:54that's the chalk marks he's brushing off the table. It really has been a

3:46:54 > 3:47:07terrific performance, from 4-1 down. We know Mark has missed a few shots

3:47:07 > 3:47:12but overall, he's played all right. It's just the new tip, on certain

3:47:12 > 3:47:18shots where he was putting side on and wasn't getting them.

3:47:23 > 3:47:29You look at the standard, Mark has had breaks of 50, 40, 102, 72.

3:47:29 > 3:47:37Pretty high standard and I can. Yeah, it has been. Evidence of a bit

3:47:37 > 3:47:44of an adrenaline rush from Ryan Day. He hit that too far by quite a long

3:47:44 > 3:47:58way. Only one to go at at the back of the pack. He's OK, he can roll it

3:47:58 > 3:48:05and come off two cushions and leave the red you mentioned. If he

3:48:05 > 3:48:12finishes nicely on it in such a way... Well, you risk bringing more

3:48:12 > 3:48:18reds into play. Or just play for the blue and leave the angle to go into

3:48:18 > 3:48:30the reds. This is the only red available to him at the moment. He's

3:48:30 > 3:48:38going into the reds when potting this. In fact he could hold this end

3:48:38 > 3:48:46of the table.He's played that lovely, hasn't he? He's brought the

3:48:46 > 3:48:56pink into play and he can drop in the pink. The red to the extreme

3:48:56 > 3:49:02right will go to the left-hand corner pocket.

3:49:13 > 3:49:22This is the only other red available to him. Imperative he gets a good

3:49:22 > 3:49:31angle on the pink this time. That one to the left, it's not an either

3:49:31 > 3:49:40-- it's not on either. This is the shops, coming up. -- this is the

3:49:40 > 3:49:49shot. Key to this deciding frame. That's nicely played. Didn't have to

3:49:49 > 3:49:57do too much. The one at the back of the bunch of six will go. If this

3:49:57 > 3:50:02works out, Ken, he could be in the next round.Yes, he's got to judge

3:50:02 > 3:50:09this nicely. Bringing the reds into play. If he gets on a colour, it

3:50:09 > 3:50:22could be all over. Not ideal. A shake of the head. If he wasn't so

3:50:22 > 3:50:29close to the cushion, he would have been OK. He can do a little cannon

3:50:29 > 3:50:34onto the red just above the blue. He good and he's played it really well,

3:50:34 > 3:50:47that was a great shot. That could be it, Dennis.I think going back to

3:50:47 > 3:50:52what I was talking about when he beat Mark Williams in Riga and won

3:50:52 > 3:50:58his first ranking title, he's a different player now. This is a

3:50:58 > 3:51:02deciding frame and much more confident now that he's won that

3:51:02 > 3:51:12first ranking title. But a few more to be potted here.58 ahead now. Red

3:51:12 > 3:51:22and colour required. To leave Mark Williams needing snooker. But so

3:51:22 > 3:51:26many sharks we've already had in this Championship, this is going to

3:51:26 > 3:51:31be another one. Mark Williams coming here on the back of winning the

3:51:31 > 3:51:37Northern Ireland Trophy.

3:51:48 > 3:51:53Has he missed the cannon on the pink? Can't believe it, it was a big

3:51:53 > 3:52:04target.It seemed just natural, didn't it? OK, Mark needs a snooker

3:52:04 > 3:52:11but that smile tells you," what have I done there? Those quotes -- what

3:52:11 > 3:52:15have I done their?".

3:52:19 > 3:52:23Trying to put the red safe onto the side cushion but he's made a big

3:52:23 > 3:52:27mistake there.

3:52:39 > 3:52:48Mark almost pinched an earlier frame, needed two snookers.

3:52:58 > 3:53:07He still needs two snookers.

3:53:11 > 3:53:16He made try and double it across the other side of the table. Bring the

3:53:16 > 3:53:28cue ball back behind the brown. Looks pretty good. It's a tall order

3:53:28 > 3:53:32for Mark to try and get the two snookers, especially when you are in

3:53:32 > 3:53:38one yourself.

3:53:44 > 3:53:51That's a pretty good shot from where he was. He got the cue ball close to

3:53:51 > 3:54:02the right-hand side cushion. He has the pot on but if he misses it, he

3:54:02 > 3:54:08may give Mark Williams a chance. He has missed it and it has left him a

3:54:08 > 3:54:29chance. OK, he'll need two high value shots.Yes, he'll want to

3:54:29 > 3:54:35leave the red there, the one to the left of the black.

3:54:39 > 3:54:45There's a little bit of life left in this match just yet.

3:54:53 > 3:55:00He needs the cue ball to go. That's OK. Now just pot the black and move

3:55:00 > 3:55:07the cue ball just above the lack and move the cue ball back up the table

3:55:07 > 3:55:12and try and snooker him behind the black again.I know he needs two

3:55:12 > 3:55:16snookers, there's always a chance you get a free ball if he gets a

3:55:16 > 3:55:21good snooker.Ideally you want the red close to one of the baulk

3:55:21 > 3:55:31colours.Oh, he needs a cannon? He's overscrewed that.

3:55:50 > 3:55:56Mark Williams is having a look at the scoreboard. He's 30 points

3:55:56 > 3:56:05behind. Red and Blackwood put him 32 behind with 27 left on the table. --

3:56:05 > 3:56:08and black would put him 32 behind.

3:56:21 > 3:56:28Now, it will be interesting to see what Mark Williams will do here. He

3:56:28 > 3:56:31could pot yellow, green, brown, and blue, leaving only one snooker on

3:56:31 > 3:56:38the pink. But as it stands he needs two four point snookers. What would

3:56:38 > 3:56:44you do?I think that's what he has in mind but he only has one ball to

3:56:44 > 3:56:49play the snooker behind, though. Still glancing around at the

3:56:49 > 3:56:52scoreboard.

3:56:58 > 3:57:02Very important that he gives himself a chance when he pots the blue to

3:57:02 > 3:57:10try and get behind the black. If he wanted, he could play the snooker

3:57:10 > 3:57:17off the blue, thin one behind but he needs two snookers. The right shot

3:57:17 > 3:57:23is to pot the blue. A chance on the pink but he'd only need one snooker

3:57:23 > 3:57:28on the pink. Pot the blue and get the cue ball somewhere near the pink

3:57:28 > 3:57:34spot if he can. Just above it, leaving a nice angle. That's what

3:57:34 > 3:57:39he's looking at, somewhere just in line with the pink. Just above the

3:57:39 > 3:57:45spot somewhere and knock the pink into the Boult area, the white

3:57:45 > 3:57:51behind the black. You feel this may be the best chance he has to get the

3:57:51 > 3:58:02snooker.Off two cushions, try and nestle it behind the black. Looks a

3:58:02 > 3:58:07bit pacey.

3:58:20 > 3:58:28He's played the old in or over, we call it, but it isn't right over the

3:58:28 > 3:58:37pocket. He can go back towards the black year. -- black here. Not

3:58:37 > 3:58:41enough side, not enough on it.

3:58:48 > 3:58:56He might roll the pink towards the yellow pocket.

3:59:13 > 3:59:19That's a bit short of pace. He needed this pink down close to the

3:59:19 > 3:59:21top cushion.

3:59:31 > 3:59:36Oh, he's knocked the black into a better position. That's better where

3:59:36 > 3:59:42it is now but maybe not from where he is sitting at the moment. They

3:59:42 > 3:59:45doesn't always have to play the snooker, keep it safe until you have

3:59:45 > 3:59:50a better chance. That's it, just playing the safety shot but he knows

3:59:50 > 3:59:54that the black is in a much better spot, if he gets a chance, to get

3:59:54 > 3:59:56behind it.

4:00:07 > 4:00:11That's very good from Ryan.

4:00:23 > 4:00:33That could be the end. He didn't catch that as he intended. He wanted

4:00:33 > 4:00:44to try and keep the pink safe. That is a fabulous win for Ryan Day. He

4:00:44 > 4:00:49was 4-1 down against his good friend Mark Williams. He battled back, won

4:00:49 > 4:00:52three in a row, then one behind. He's taken the decider. He'll be

4:00:52 > 4:01:01delighted. He defeats Mark Williams by 6-5.

4:01:01 > 4:01:07STUDIO: From 4-1 down, an amazing come back. He wins five of the last

4:01:07 > 4:01:10six does Ryan Day to go through to the last 16 for only the third time

4:01:10 > 4:01:14in his career and the first time for a while. A fantastic win from Ryan

4:01:14 > 4:01:20Day's perspective. The way he, like Graeme Dott u, opportuned things

4:01:20 > 4:01:25around.-- he turned things around. Mark Williams had a brand new tip on

4:01:25 > 4:01:29for the day, and that is never nice for a player. He was 4-1 in front,

4:01:29 > 4:01:30though. From

4:01:30 > 4:01:32for a player. He was 4-1 in front, though. From Ryan Day's perspective.

4:01:32 > 4:01:36Perhaps that win has done him the world of good. He's using it as a

4:01:36 > 4:01:44spring board for further things. Yeah it was a real deja vu, we

4:01:44 > 4:01:48mentioned the semifinal frame in Riga as well. He's pushing on from

4:01:48 > 4:01:53that. Here he is.II think Ryan is a different player now that he's won

4:01:53 > 4:01:57a tournament quite honestly. Ryan will tell us in a minute! He's a big

4:01:57 > 4:02:00lad, as well! I think he's a different player.Let's see. A

4:02:00 > 4:02:03different player, same person, but do you feel a different player? No,

4:02:03 > 4:02:09not at all. Just feel the same. I was disappointed to be 4-1 behind. I

4:02:09 > 4:02:15lost a couple of frames before the interval. I probably should have won

4:02:15 > 4:02:22those. Just try to stay positive and patient and yeah, just held myself

4:02:22 > 4:02:27together in the last frame. A bit tricky where the balls were, but

4:02:27 > 4:02:31it's a good win, considering what's on the line, do you know, with the

4:02:31 > 4:02:34race to the Masters. It's been a while since I played there.

4:02:34 > 4:02:37Obviously coming here this week, that was the, probably the main

4:02:37 > 4:02:43goal.It's a tough one, because the Masters is its own event. But this

4:02:43 > 4:02:46is a massive event. But it's in the back of your mind.Yeah you're still

4:02:46 > 4:02:51thinking about. It I wasn't going to give in today. Kept on fighting. We

4:02:51 > 4:02:55were talking about Riga and congratulations again for that

4:02:55 > 4:02:58fantastic win there. But you had to go through a similar process, this

4:02:58 > 4:03:02time in a semifinal to face Mark there, final frame decider. Was that

4:03:02 > 4:03:07on your mind at any point? To be honest, it was. Close to the end,

4:03:07 > 4:03:125-4, then to the deciding frame. Myself and Mark played in the semis

4:03:12 > 4:03:19in Riga, it was 5-4 to me. It went all the way there as well. Something

4:03:19 > 4:03:24to draw on because I've been pretty good in deciders and before my cue

4:03:24 > 4:03:27broke I seemed to make one visit all the time, every time I played in a

4:03:27 > 4:03:31deciding frame. But I was glad to do that today. That's a tough thing,

4:03:31 > 4:03:35mid-way through a season, after you've had a good victory, to all of

4:03:35 > 4:03:38a sudden, for the cue that you've trusted, to get used to a new one.

4:03:38 > 4:03:45Have you struck lucky on a new cue or put in hard work? It's been both.

4:03:45 > 4:03:50This cue maybe a fraction too long. There's plenty of whip in it. A

4:03:50 > 4:03:57couple of the shots you hit with pace, you can feel the cue ball all

4:03:57 > 4:04:01the way into your hand. You look settled with it, though.I'm more

4:04:01 > 4:04:05settled. It doesn't make a very good sound when you hit the ball. I can

4:04:05 > 4:04:10live with that as long as it sends the cue ball where I want it to go.

4:04:10 > 4:04:12It's obviously a difficult thing to have coped with in the first place.

4:04:12 > 4:04:15We were talking about the circumstances, obviously you have to

4:04:15 > 4:04:19be resigned to that, but it must have been pretty traumatic at the

4:04:19 > 4:04:24time what happened. Tell everybody the story of how it happened.Yeah I

4:04:24 > 4:04:32was out in Thailand playing in the six red event. The cue maker is a

4:04:32 > 4:04:36Thai chap. He said he needed three to four days to lengthen it and do

4:04:36 > 4:04:42the work that was needed. So we had -So you were making changes to your

4:04:42 > 4:04:47cue?Yeah the wood under the ferrell had started to go. He needed to cut

4:04:47 > 4:04:52it down and lengthen it. He said four days. We were there and a

4:04:52 > 4:04:56couple of beers and the text message come through and it was a picture of

4:04:56 > 4:05:03my cue laying on the floor and snapped in half. It was a bit

4:05:03 > 4:05:09sobering. I think it come loose in the lathe as he was turning it. It

4:05:09 > 4:05:13span out and snapped in half.I know it's been a tough road since then,

4:05:13 > 4:05:16over the last couple of weeks, I must say. Tough to play Mark as

4:05:16 > 4:05:19well, because you've played him so often. The ninth time this year

4:05:19 > 4:05:24already.Yeah, we've played a lot this season. Obviously he's been

4:05:24 > 4:05:31playing great, won last week. Over the distance, I think the new tip he

4:05:31 > 4:05:35had to put on yesterday, he looked unsettled, especially on the long

4:05:35 > 4:05:40shots. So I just tried to, like I said, stay patient and hopefully the

4:05:40 > 4:05:45game was going to turn and it did. Lee Walker asked - does the winner

4:05:45 > 4:05:50buy the beers or the loser?I don't know. I think they'll be going back

4:05:50 > 4:05:53home, obviously. Mark's wife is not very well. He will shoot back and

4:05:53 > 4:05:58see her. Fingers crossedmentI'm -- crossed. I'm sure she's been

4:05:58 > 4:06:01watching that. Well done, congratulations. You're through to

4:06:01 > 4:06:10play Sarah McDonald or Li Hang -- Scott Donaldson. With the world

4:06:10 > 4:06:13number two Judd Trump going home because an exceptional performance

4:06:13 > 4:06:20from Graeme Dott. He was 2-0 down. The former world champion's tenacity

4:06:20 > 4:06:24and sheer bottle saw him charge right back to win the next six in a

4:06:24 > 4:06:32row. Dott back in the limelight and loving every single moment of this.

4:06:32 > 4:06:38Judd says that's enough. He says, "I've had enough." The world number

4:06:38 > 4:06:44two has gone. That means we've lost the world numbers one, two and three

4:06:44 > 4:06:47in this UK Championship and the world number 30 as he is now, Graeme

4:06:47 > 4:06:51Dott, striding into the last 16. It's kind of the way you've got to

4:06:51 > 4:06:55go out there and think. Generally these players don't have many off

4:06:55 > 4:06:58days. You've got to take advantage when you can. There were two

4:06:58 > 4:07:03important frames. The frame at 2-0, potted a good long red, flicked the

4:07:03 > 4:07:08black in and the frame at 2-2, I kind of threw that away. After that

4:07:08 > 4:07:13I didn't get many more chances. I missed a couple of easy balls which

4:07:13 > 4:07:18is disappointing. Graham played well.I was happy because he's only

4:07:18 > 4:07:22really had 2-1 visits. But something happened in the third frame when he

4:07:22 > 4:07:27was in, I think he split the pack and a red went in. You can never

4:07:27 > 4:07:32tell the way the game could have went. The number two has gone and

4:07:32 > 4:07:35the man practising behind us, Ronnie, world number four, is the

4:07:35 > 4:07:38highest player left in this event and the bookies' favourite from the

4:07:38 > 4:07:44start. Sum up for you the manner of that victory for Dott today.I

4:07:44 > 4:07:49thought it was fabulous. He had battle first of all. Scrapped to

4:07:49 > 4:07:52earn the right to play the way he towards the back end of the match.

4:07:52 > 4:07:57As we said actually during the game, there's little turning points. Judd

4:07:57 > 4:08:01potted a long red, chipped a black in the right hand pocket. That gave

4:08:01 > 4:08:05Graham a foot hold, but he took. It he's been a star man. Brilliant

4:08:05 > 4:08:12performance.We've enjoyed what we've seen today. We'll have a final

4:08:12 > 4:08:14frame decider in the afternoon, usually. It was fraught with

4:08:14 > 4:08:18dangerer. We thought Ryan had given Mark Williams a life line. He

4:08:18 > 4:08:23couldn't get over the line to get the snookers. Those frames are, sort

4:08:23 > 4:08:28of, the ones that are fascinating, we see big breaks, but every now and

4:08:28 > 4:08:34again the tricky deciders are always good. Graeme Dott was superb. Judd

4:08:34 > 4:08:38Trump went out in a bit of whimper today. He didn't seem to fight hard

4:08:38 > 4:08:41enough in the end. There again, Graeme was so good, what could he

4:08:41 > 4:08:47do?He's gone through and it's Judd who goes home. Mark Williams as

4:08:47 > 4:08:51well. We know that Mark's wife Jo has been ill. We wish you well. Your

4:08:51 > 4:08:56fella is coming back to give you some tlc over the next few days.

4:08:56 > 4:08:58This evening, in our matches, we

4:08:58 > 4:09:04This evening, in our matches, we have another four matches.

4:09:42 > 4:09:47Peter was chatting earlier to Steve. Here in the players' room, players

4:09:47 > 4:09:52still buzzing around. Peter, the UK Championship has been pretty good to

4:09:52 > 4:09:55you over the years.Yeah, it's been a pretty good event for me. I really

4:09:55 > 4:10:02like it. York's a great place as well. I did well when it was at

4:10:02 > 4:10:05Telford, yeah, it's been pretty good.Your first-round opponent, you

4:10:05 > 4:10:09got over the line.Eventually. We were pulled off at 5-5. It was a bit

4:10:09 > 4:10:17tense. But I got over the line to win. You're playing Mark Allen this

4:10:17 > 4:10:22evening. In the previous round he beat your son Oliver.Yeah, it was

4:10:22 > 4:10:25disappointing. Because it would have been a good occasion for us to play

4:10:25 > 4:10:33each other. But fair play to Mark he did play well. Oliver played quite

4:10:33 > 4:10:40well.Would it be a bit of family revenge?Hopefully! If not maybe

4:10:40 > 4:10:44Sarah, my wife, could beat him in the next round. What's it like

4:10:44 > 4:10:48having your son on the tour as well? Obviously, a father, proud father,

4:10:48 > 4:10:51but you've got your own career as well. Quite a tough situation.Yeah,

4:10:51 > 4:10:55it is difficult. I don't think people realise how difficult it is.

4:10:55 > 4:10:58It is especially difficult for me because I have to prepare for

4:10:58 > 4:11:02matches whilst I'm helping him prepare for his matches. But it is

4:11:02 > 4:11:07fantastic. He's given me a second lease of life playing, because his

4:11:07 > 4:11:10enthusiasm is so good it rubs off on me.Good luck tonight.Yeah, thank

4:11:10 > 4:11:15you.Peter's got a top-16 player in his sights in Mark Allen this

4:11:15 > 4:11:20evening. I can tell you, yet another of the top 16 seeds is out because

4:11:20 > 4:11:29just a few moments ago, The world number 82 has toppled Marco Fu,

4:11:29 > 4:11:33ranked seven in the world, a runner up in this event in 2008. He's done

4:11:33 > 4:11:41it in some style. He was 4-2 up. Marco came back at him. 5-3 to Lyu

4:11:41 > 4:11:46and 6-4. That is a tremendous father in his cap for the man who just

4:11:46 > 4:11:51turned 20 only last week. Congratulations to him. We see some

4:11:51 > 4:11:54of these wonderful Chinese players beginning to show us what they're

4:11:54 > 4:11:59capable of. It looks like this one is about to go 5-5 and into a

4:11:59 > 4:12:09decider. This is Liang, runner up a couple of years ago. Stephen Maguire

4:12:09 > 4:12:14of Glasgow was 5-4 up. There we go, it's Liang who has forced another

4:12:14 > 4:12:23final frame decider this afternoon. We'll be updating you with that in

4:12:23 > 4:12:29the highlights.A lot happening with the four tables out there, upsets.

4:12:29 > 4:12:34Good to see Lyu performing like that in the big arena. He's only 20. But

4:12:34 > 4:12:38he virtually retired a couple of years ago. Now he's back into it.

4:12:38 > 4:12:42He's taken a step, you know, he's showing what he can do.He virtually

4:12:42 > 4:12:46retired because he was the youngest winner of the under 21 Championship.

4:12:46 > 4:12:50He was only 14. He's been around since forever. He's only just turned

4:12:50 > 4:12:5320. Extraordinary the production line of talent coming out of that

4:12:53 > 4:12:57part of the world.Yeah, I think this year, there's been a tipping

4:12:57 > 4:13:00point in the performances of the Chinese players in general. I think

4:13:00 > 4:13:04they've finally come of age as a group of players, not just making up

4:13:04 > 4:13:06the numbers further down, but they're starting to compete further

4:13:06 > 4:13:09up the ladder now. We're seeing more and more getting involved in the top

4:13:09 > 4:13:1232. You're going to see more and more of them in the final stages of

4:13:12 > 4:13:17events I'm sure.That's the world number 82 who has gone through

4:13:17 > 4:13:20today. Fantastic stuff. There's a lot of surprises here in York. Let

4:13:20 > 4:13:28me just tell you about the coverage that we'll have this evening:

4:13:40 > 4:13:43In the meantime, thanks for your company and thanks to Alan and Steve

4:13:43 > 4:13:51for theirs. A terrific afternoon. Bye-bye for now.
