:00:27. > :00:33.After one win a one defeat in Europe at his back to their bread

:00:33. > :00:39.and butter of the Pro12. It has been up and Des Nick season. Defeat

:00:39. > :00:45.at Treviso was the 4th in the road for Ulster, before they stopped the

:00:45. > :00:50.rot at Connacht. Tonight's opposition of the Glasgow Warriors.

:00:50. > :00:58.Ulster the them in the opening game this season but in the last

:00:58. > :01:02.stripped us, and there was some last-minute winning drama. -- the

:01:02. > :01:12.last visited to Scotland. Ulster will be hoping it is less stressful

:01:12. > :01:13.

:01:13. > :01:19.tonight. It is a freezing cold night at the Firhill Stadium. What

:01:19. > :01:28.better way to kick off your Friday night? We have a special half-time

:01:28. > :01:38.feature to look out for. We had managed to catch up with Ulster's

:01:38. > :01:40.

:01:40. > :01:46.flying winger. With meat tonight -- it is just the 12th round, still a

:01:46. > :01:54.long way to go in the play-offs, but the table shows that tonight's

:01:54. > :01:59.game is a good indicator of Ulster's push for a top place?

:01:59. > :02:08.is. Glasgow have been pretty good form, with the exception of last

:02:08. > :02:12.week where they were muscled out of the play by Leinster. They have

:02:12. > :02:19.taught this week about being dominant in the breakout area, it

:02:19. > :02:24.say Ulster will have to watch out for that. How well Ulster going to

:02:24. > :02:30.cope with missing players tonight? It will be difficult. They have

:02:30. > :02:35.been particularly impressive in the forwards in the last two weeks, in

:02:35. > :02:40.the European games. Specifically, at the line-out. Missing Rory Best

:02:40. > :02:45.tonight will put a big strain on that line out and the decision to

:02:45. > :02:48.rest Chris Henry is a key one. He has been the stand-out repeat

:02:49. > :02:55.performer, week by week, and to leave him out completely is a bit

:02:55. > :03:04.cold. Those guys have been rested this week, of whereas with Glascoed

:03:04. > :03:14.they have the right -- collides of Gray and Cusiter on the bench. That

:03:14. > :03:14.

:03:15. > :03:21.could be a crucial factor. A big night for Cave and Spence. A big

:03:21. > :03:28.night for both of them. They will poke have to be on their mettle

:03:28. > :03:34.defensively. But Darren Cave likes to score tries and we would love to

:03:34. > :03:38.see him on the scoreboard this evening. And it is a chance for

:03:38. > :03:45.Spence to get back into the side and perhaps are meant a full-time

:03:45. > :03:50.place. It is a big night for the pick three, some think to prove.

:03:50. > :03:56.The teams are on their way, are so subtle back as Ulster tried to beat

:03:56. > :04:06.the class go warriors for the 4th time in a row. On commentary for us

:04:06. > :04:11.

:04:11. > :04:21.this evening, Ryan Constable and, Scotland have left Glasgow alone, I

:04:21. > :04:31.

:04:31. > :04:39.condition here. Not the sort of crowd that they had a couple of

:04:39. > :04:44.weeks ago when, in the very last second, they demolished Bath. It is

:04:44. > :04:49.back to the 2000 or 3000 that they normally get for a leak game. A-

:04:49. > :04:59.class goes side who work knocked around the park in Dublin in the

:04:59. > :05:29.

:05:29. > :05:39.first half of their Heineken match tonight on the right wing. The

:05:39. > :05:46.

:05:46. > :05:52.sides and both looking to bounce back from different kind of defeat

:05:52. > :06:01.in European competition last week. A young man who has had a very good

:06:01. > :06:11.season, the skipper of the Scottish World Cup under 21 side, Duncan

:06:11. > :06:11.

:06:11. > :07:13.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 62 seconds

:07:13. > :07:17.early, their tactics are very clear, kicking for field position from

:07:17. > :07:27.within their own half, looking to establish a position so that they

:07:27. > :07:27.

:07:27. > :08:13.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 62 seconds

:08:13. > :08:23.play and they are giving away a silly bit of possession. Directory

:08:23. > :08:28.

:08:28. > :08:33.has given advantage to Glasgow. -- forward and then gathered it on the

:08:33. > :08:36.ground, which he is not allowed to do. So all the early Ulster

:08:37. > :08:46.pressure has come to nothing, following a midfield handling

:08:47. > :09:13.

:09:13. > :09:19.conceded the opening penalty. was a breakdown in the pack in mid-

:09:19. > :09:24.field that led to that turnover. A clever kick through from Morrison

:09:24. > :09:34.and then Ulster infringing on the ground. A long advantage played but

:09:34. > :09:34.

:09:34. > :10:20.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 62 seconds

:10:20. > :10:30.ultimately it will be a kick for cracking kick from a difficult

:10:30. > :10:31.

:10:31. > :10:38.angle. Brian McLaughlin it will be pretty cross with his side. And at

:10:38. > :10:43.the Glasgow fans are by far the happier. The challenge for both

:10:43. > :10:48.these teams is whether they can play at the intensity required.

:10:48. > :10:58.Glasgow are smarting from that lost to Bath at home, and probably feel

:10:58. > :11:20.

:11:20. > :11:25.Weir. Conditions are perfect for running rugby. Both teams will try

:11:25. > :11:35.to set their platform, play territorial rugby, and then try to

:11:35. > :12:14.

:12:14. > :12:21.launch their attack from that set seemed to be some offence on the

:12:21. > :12:27.far side. There was a kick that went up and a trading arm they have

:12:27. > :12:37.come through and made some contact. Nothing intentional in that.

:12:37. > :12:38.

:12:38. > :12:48.referee coming to adjudicate on that. REFEREE: OK, white number two

:12:48. > :12:52.

:12:52. > :13:02.struck blue on the face. I think the assistant is saying to the

:13:02. > :13:09.referee that they should be some remonstration carried out.

:13:09. > :13:19.Sometimes it is worth remembering that the referee is carrying a

:13:19. > :13:28.

:13:28. > :13:38.microphone. Kyriacou is going to be penalised. REFEREE: Here is the

:13:38. > :13:38.

:13:38. > :14:47.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 62 seconds

:14:47. > :14:57.position. It was not later charge, will be able -- interesting to see

:14:57. > :15:18.

:15:18. > :15:23.the tactics that plus going plight of throws. The previous one was

:15:23. > :15:27.quite fortunate not to be called Brocket. They need to interpret

:15:27. > :15:32.that and do they start to move towards a more territory based

:15:32. > :15:42.game? Try to apply some pressure in the line-out and get some dividends

:15:42. > :15:48.

:15:48. > :15:58.eight by a couple of pounds. But it does not make a difference, it is

:15:58. > :15:58.

:15:58. > :16:41.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 62 seconds

:16:41. > :16:51.went to ground. That should have been a penalty against Glasgow.

:16:51. > :16:52.

:16:52. > :16:57.Peter Allen is on the near side. Robert Harley, who played in the

:16:57. > :17:01.second row against Ulster in the opening game of the season, now in

:17:01. > :17:09.a more familiar position. One of a handful of very good at up and

:17:09. > :17:15.coming Glasgow youngsters. The referee has come round to this side.

:17:15. > :17:20.And good squeeze by Glasgow. And Glasgow penalised John well for

:17:20. > :17:25.boring directly in. There has been known injury to a Glasgow player

:17:25. > :17:31.from that scrummage. It looks like John Barclay. That could be quite

:17:31. > :17:38.dangerous. Ten minutes gone. Three points to Glasgow. Ian Humphreys is

:17:38. > :17:44.not waiting to see what happens to the injured Glasgow player. That

:17:44. > :17:49.has given Ulster a decent position. Barclay has that left leg of his

:17:49. > :17:54.pretty heavily strapped. He would be a considerable loss, were he to

:17:54. > :18:04.go off. It was a good squeeze by Glasgow, but they were coming

:18:04. > :18:29.

:18:29. > :18:39.across the Ulster front row. But he defenders to get away from it.

:18:39. > :18:41.

:18:41. > :18:48.Again, Ulster's poor handling is costing them. It is Glasgow who

:18:48. > :18:57.concede the penalty, fortunately for Ulster. Two bits of mishandling

:18:57. > :19:07.by Ulster have cost them. Mistakes are putting players out of position,

:19:07. > :19:19.

:19:19. > :19:29.and those mistakes are being touch. It will be an Ulster lineout

:19:29. > :19:29.

:19:29. > :20:15.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 62 seconds

:20:15. > :20:22.behind that move was. Stuart Hogg is the youngest player on the

:20:22. > :20:32.Glasgow side, still only 19. Ulster could do with a few more men piling

:20:32. > :20:35.

:20:35. > :20:45.into win that ball. Well played by Stuart Hogg. Robert Harley is in

:20:45. > :20:45.

:20:45. > :22:16.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 62 seconds

:22:16. > :22:20.Humphreys in that last passage of Ulster in the past. The players on

:22:20. > :22:25.the outside need to create some depth to allow Ian Humphreys to

:22:25. > :22:31.come around the corner and still have the ability to execute. Just

:22:31. > :22:38.all a bit flat in the wider channels. It was not followed by

:22:38. > :22:48.much. Simon Danielli has played the last four games at full-back. He

:22:48. > :23:28.

:23:28. > :23:38.will be happy to be back in the something to the referee. But at

:23:38. > :23:38.

:23:38. > :24:32.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 62 seconds

:24:32. > :24:39.was a pretty decent chance for Ulster. They will be few and far

:24:39. > :24:46.Trimble really took off like a rocket. The timing of the pass was

:24:46. > :24:49.pretty good. Great cover by Henry Pyrgos, the Glasgow scrum-half that

:24:49. > :24:54.took Simon Danielli down. additions are really were sending

:24:54. > :25:04.now. They will not do anything for creating an open game. Excellent

:25:04. > :25:16.

:25:16. > :25:21.Glasgow, but they have the lineout throw. They have retained

:25:21. > :25:31.possession. Good tidying up in pretty awful conditions at the

:25:31. > :25:31.

:25:31. > :26:21.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 62 seconds

:26:21. > :26:25.moment. Pyrgos, just 22 years old, Humphreys is now in a lot of

:26:25. > :26:30.trouble. I am not sure how much longer he will be a participant in

:26:30. > :26:37.this match. He got clattered when he took that high kick. He does

:26:37. > :26:44.look in an awful lot of pain at the moment. There seems to be a

:26:44. > :26:48.communication problem, with the earpiece threatening to come out.

:26:48. > :26:57.We can see the November moustache is out on show tonight, all in a

:26:57. > :27:03.good cause. Gives Ian Humphreys more time to settle. Glasgow had

:27:03. > :27:13.taken John Barclay out of their lineout, and their number 8, Ryan

:27:13. > :27:13.

:27:13. > :28:11.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 62 seconds

:28:11. > :28:16.position. Ulster have the penalty. On the basis of the last six or

:28:16. > :28:20.seven minutes played, maybe they just about deserved that. Yeah, the

:28:20. > :28:24.conditions are worsening. Ulster will have to tighten their

:28:24. > :28:29.alignment a bit. The ball will have to be taken into the chest, which

:28:29. > :28:39.will slow the game down. It will not favour Ulster, who look to play

:28:39. > :28:42.

:28:42. > :28:46.a high-tempo game. Glasgow where a bit over-enthusiastic. Despite the

:28:46. > :28:51.problems he is having in the Lagerback region, Ian Humphreys has

:28:51. > :29:01.elected to try and square this game -- despite his problems in the

:29:01. > :29:20.

:29:20. > :29:26.and bruised he may be, but accurate, he certainly was. Ian Humphreys has

:29:26. > :29:30.level bit. Ulster will meet to consider very carefully making a

:29:30. > :29:34.substitution. You can be sure that Graeme Morrison will be

:29:34. > :29:44.communicating into his half-back pairing that Ian Humphreys is

:29:44. > :29:44.

:29:44. > :30:42.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 62 seconds

:30:42. > :30:52.struggling with an injury, and season for Glasgow. It was knocked

:30:52. > :31:06.

:31:07. > :31:12.forward by Ulster and the referee on the opposition back line. He'd

:31:12. > :31:16.wait and wait. Once he gets passed that first line of defence he has

:31:16. > :31:24.plenty of speedy men outside him, so oldster might have to be wary of

:31:24. > :31:29.him. He is waiting for that opportunity. He runs an angled run

:31:29. > :31:39.and then comes off the inside and catches defenders unaware. That

:31:39. > :31:57.

:31:57. > :32:07.opens up the midfield and he looks gone off to get a temporary repair.

:32:07. > :32:19.

:32:19. > :32:29.shower that lasted three or four minutes has disappeared for the

:32:29. > :32:43.

:32:43. > :32:49.evening. Somehow, I would not bet on between Welsh and Fitzpatrick.

:32:49. > :32:57.The referee is telling them both to bind properly. You have to bind on

:32:57. > :33:07.the jersey but the Jersey's but these days are very tight and

:33:07. > :33:23.

:33:23. > :33:31.sometimes in this weather it is Some body boss not binding from

:33:31. > :33:37.eight Ulster point of view. Interestingly, Duncan Weir has

:33:37. > :33:47.decided to go for territory. We watched in in the half hour before

:33:47. > :33:47.

:33:47. > :33:52.this game and he was popping them over from all angles. Ian Humphreys

:33:52. > :33:57.also has been kicking well, so that the swirling wind must be making it

:33:57. > :34:07.difficult for kickers and they are preferring to go for territory in

:34:07. > :34:24.

:34:24. > :34:29.high tackle. This is much more regulation for Duncan Weir. Andi

:34:29. > :34:39.Kyriacou, that is the second penalty he has given away. He needs

:34:39. > :34:42.

:34:42. > :34:46.to be a little more conscious of That is pretty marginal. It may

:34:46. > :34:53.have slipped up around the neck but initially it was around the

:34:53. > :34:58.shoulder. When you are dragging a player down from behind, it is

:34:58. > :35:02.innocuous and there was no malice behind that one. Certainly in terms

:35:02. > :35:12.of possession and territory, at the last 15 minutes have been all

:35:12. > :35:30.

:35:31. > :35:36.will be frustrated with the pattern of this game. Last week they

:35:36. > :35:44.dominated possession and territory, found -- played more rugby, but

:35:44. > :35:54.found themselves behind on the scoreboard. Knocked forward by

:35:54. > :36:12.

:36:12. > :36:18.Ulster and the referee is playing position yet again. Clever kicking.

:36:18. > :36:28.The ball was swirling and are close to the touchline. Humphreys took

:36:28. > :36:29.

:36:29. > :36:39.the right option, Conservative, no. Flirting with that touch line. --

:36:39. > :36:52.

:36:52. > :37:02.no point flirting with the touch man doing a bit of upstroke in in

:37:02. > :37:04.

:37:04. > :37:14.front of the ball carrier. -- a bit of obstructing. REFEREE: I do not

:37:14. > :37:14.

:37:15. > :37:24.want to see this kind of behaviour. Penalty, are obstruction. There is

:37:25. > :37:47.

:37:47. > :37:57.of that penalty Cole. However, it has given a chance for Duncan Weir

:37:57. > :38:16.

:38:16. > :38:22.kicking under difficult conditions by Duncan Weir. He is a young man

:38:22. > :38:32.he will not be too far away from wearing beat senior Scotland jersey,

:38:32. > :39:09.

:39:09. > :39:16.perhaps even in the upcoming Six was knocked forward and Lemi came

:39:16. > :39:20.in in an offside position. Bolster might have not really been inside

:39:20. > :39:26.the Glasgow 22 at all, in the entire course of this game. That

:39:26. > :39:36.was a great kick by Humphreys. The right side of the field for him,

:39:36. > :39:41.

:39:41. > :39:51.but it was an absolute belter. Welcome to Glasgow, David Lemi! I

:39:51. > :40:13.

:40:13. > :40:23.am sure he is enjoying does weather. is unfortunate for Ulster, because

:40:23. > :40:36.

:40:36. > :40:46.into touch. But Ulster, once again, in a good attacking position.

:40:46. > :41:03.

:41:03. > :41:10.will not want to leave the 22 forward. These little errors are

:41:10. > :41:20.costing Ulster. But it was a terrific mood and Marshall was not

:41:20. > :41:20.

:41:20. > :42:06.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 62 seconds

:42:06. > :42:16.the scrum was stable. Cusack on the far side, formerly of Doncaster,

:42:16. > :42:41.

:42:41. > :42:51.brought in by Glasgow to stabilise just told him what there. There was

:42:51. > :43:09.

:43:09. > :43:19.prepared to take the ball on in the manner of a back forward, if he had

:43:19. > :43:26.

:43:26. > :43:36.over the line for a five-metre scrum. They have not quite manage

:43:36. > :43:53.

:43:53. > :44:00.More about time is not on the site in terms of this first half.

:44:00. > :44:10.will need some intelligent calling, perhaps some movement in the line.

:44:10. > :44:10.

:44:10. > :44:18.It was another messy line-out from a Ulster point of view. REFEREE:

:44:18. > :44:28.Knock-on, wide. Slippery conditions, and throwing the ball to the back,

:44:28. > :44:28.

:44:28. > :45:18.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 62 seconds

:45:18. > :45:22.it is debatable whether that is the himself plenty of room. So the

:45:22. > :45:28.territorial advantage for Ulster has gone. But they still have

:45:28. > :45:38.possession. Is there time? There is, but they will need to secured the

:45:38. > :46:05.

:46:05. > :46:12.set piece first. Excellent touch Ulster this evening. It is those

:46:12. > :46:20.small margins and a few decisions not going their way. The set-up was

:46:20. > :46:24.not too bad. But there were small errors. And Glasgow have made the

:46:24. > :46:30.most of their opportunities, capitalised when they have been

:46:30. > :46:34.points on offer. There's gauche probably have the stronger

:46:34. > :46:43.replacements bench -- Glasgow probably have the stronger

:46:43. > :46:51.replacements bench. Ulster have not been good in either department,

:46:51. > :46:55.particularly the lineout. First real mistake by Glasgow all evening.

:46:55. > :47:01.They have not played a huge amount of rugby, but they have not made

:47:01. > :47:05.the mistakes that Ulster have, which has led to the score line. In

:47:05. > :47:08.these last 50 seconds, they will want to neutralise Ulster and

:47:09. > :47:14.ensure that they go on with that six point margin. With conditions

:47:14. > :47:24.as they are, this is not going to be a high-scoring encounter. It

:47:24. > :47:48.

:47:48. > :47:58.will be decided by a few penalties decision must be to go for the pace

:47:58. > :48:02.

:48:02. > :48:06.-- post. No time to do anything else. That is exactly what happened.

:48:06. > :48:15.It was an opportunity than Ulster welcomed to try and reduce that

:48:15. > :48:22.margin. Clever anticipation by Paul Marshall, which set up this penalty

:48:22. > :48:32.attempt. Ian Humphreys will be very popular if he can put this between

:48:32. > :48:32.

:48:32. > :49:35.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 62 seconds

:49:35. > :49:41.in any hurry to get the restart scrummage. It has not been the most

:49:41. > :49:46.entertaining game in the world. Just those errors, handling errors

:49:46. > :49:53.have robbed Ulster of any real continuity. Once the wind and rain

:49:53. > :49:57.started coming in, Glasgow altered their game plan. Hence, they are

:49:57. > :50:02.the leaders. And there is the man responsible for all nine of the

:50:02. > :50:06.Glasgow points, Duncan Weir, who is having a very good season and is

:50:06. > :50:10.really building his reputation. It has been a tough night here at

:50:10. > :50:20.Firhill in Glasgow for Ulster. They have had their chances and made

:50:20. > :50:23.

:50:23. > :50:27.It has been an entertaining enough first half on a cold and rainy

:50:27. > :50:32.night in Glasgow. Duncan Weir kept the scoreboard ticking over for the

:50:32. > :50:37.home team. Ulster's performance was hampered by mistakes and handling

:50:37. > :50:47.errors galore. They had plenty of the ball, but perhaps have not been

:50:47. > :50:52.

:50:52. > :51:00.clinical enough. That was the best chance of the game. It is the

:51:00. > :51:04.accuracy of Weir that has the Scots in front. Ulster mistakes - is that

:51:04. > :51:09.the story of the game? Absolutely. It has been Ulster's Achilles heel

:51:09. > :51:14.for the last season and a bit. They get in good positions, and then

:51:14. > :51:18.make basic mistakes. It is frustrating, because they string

:51:18. > :51:21.could phases of play together and looked to be on top of the

:51:21. > :51:24.opposition. I don't know if they are just taking their eye off the

:51:24. > :51:29.ball whether it is impatience and they are trying to throw the

:51:29. > :51:33.miracle ball. But if they were more patient, they would score tries

:51:33. > :51:37.eventually. Is that to do with the way they are reacting to the

:51:37. > :51:42.intensity of two weeks in the European Cup? Possibly. There have

:51:42. > :51:46.also been a lot of changes. I feel like Ulster are also getting to

:51:46. > :51:53.know which other again. Certainly at lineout time, where we have

:51:53. > :52:03.excelled for the last few weeks, we have gone for a few strange options

:52:03. > :52:04.

:52:04. > :52:12.tonight. And the weather conditions are inclement as well. They should

:52:12. > :52:16.just keep the hammer on and show more composure, as Bryn says.

:52:16. > :52:21.you said, it is frustrating to watch at times. It is, because they

:52:21. > :52:25.are getting into the 22. Why are they not being clinical enough?

:52:25. > :52:32.is difficult to know. They are doing the right stuff leading up to

:52:32. > :52:36.that point. And it is not forced errors. The Glasgow defence has

:52:36. > :52:41.been solid, but nothing spectacular. So Ulster are contributing to their

:52:41. > :52:46.own downfall in the 22. Games are so tight nowadays, that you have to

:52:46. > :52:54.be clinical in the 22 and come away with some sort of points, and

:52:54. > :53:02.Ulster are just not doing that. tried to up the intensity once we

:53:02. > :53:07.get in there. If Paul Marshall had set it up with the forwards coming

:53:07. > :53:17.on to it, there might have been an opportunity to leave it rather than

:53:17. > :53:27.trying be harder pass. It is that lack of composure. There were basic

:53:27. > :53:36.

:53:36. > :53:39.handling errors. But as we saw last week, fine lines win games. When

:53:39. > :53:43.you are making mistakes like this, it puts you on the back foot, and

:53:44. > :53:48.the opposition take advantage. difference between Ulster and a

:53:48. > :53:51.very good side at the minute is that we are not putting away our

:53:51. > :54:01.chances. We are not even coming away with a penalty already dropped

:54:01. > :54:04.

:54:04. > :54:07.goal. Whereas Glasgow have twice, maybe three times the number.

:54:07. > :54:12.Ulster are still in the game. Absolutely. There is still a long

:54:12. > :54:17.way to go in this game. We talked earlier about the opportunities

:54:17. > :54:27.Ulster had. They will try to capitalise on those in the second

:54:27. > :54:37.

:54:37. > :54:42.half. The pitch is so small. Earlier, we saw a lack of support.

:54:42. > :54:47.But it was a positive bit of play. But is what we want to see from

:54:47. > :54:57.Ulster. You just need to see the support player's there a bit

:54:57. > :54:57.

:54:57. > :55:06.earlier. Ulster have put them on the back foot, it is just that lack

:55:06. > :55:09.of accuracy at the last minute. I think we are a bit lateral at times.

:55:09. > :55:14.Trimble and Danielli should maybe come off their wing a bit more and

:55:14. > :55:18.straighten things up. But we are more than capable of turning this

:55:18. > :55:23.around. What have you made of some of the decisions against Ulster

:55:23. > :55:33.this evening? Kyriacou, first of all? Pretty mind-boggling, to be

:55:33. > :55:33.

:55:33. > :55:39.honest. That was unfortunate. There was something else to do with

:55:39. > :55:49.punching in the face or something. It was an unfair penalty. Three

:55:49. > :55:59.penalties have been grossly unfair. As a result of those penalties,

:55:59. > :56:03.

:56:03. > :56:07.Glasgow were in a good position. Six points were wrongly adjudicated.

:56:07. > :56:13.I don't know if the referee has taken a dislike to Kyriacou's

:56:13. > :56:17.hairstyle! I think everybody would. He has been on the rough end of a

:56:17. > :56:22.couple of questionable decisions. Last week, with Rory Best on the

:56:22. > :56:28.team, Ulster's lineout was superb. Taking nothing away from Kyriacou's

:56:28. > :56:34.performers tonight, it has not been as good. It hasn't. You are talking

:56:34. > :56:42.about arguably the best team in world rugby at the minute. Rory's

:56:42. > :56:52.accuracy in terms of his lineout is exceptional. At scrum time tonight

:56:52. > :56:52.

:56:52. > :56:55.as well, the scrum has ebbed and flowed a bit. You are taking your

:56:55. > :57:05.most a world-class player out of that situation. It is hard for

:57:05. > :57:11.

:57:11. > :57:15.anybody to get into that. It looks like very poor conditions. Is the

:57:15. > :57:19.key for the second half to be much more clinical in the set piece

:57:19. > :57:27.area? Tony, as a formal forward, you must know about the scrummage

:57:27. > :57:37.area. Grin and I have no idea. not think this referee has an idea.

:57:37. > :57:37.

:57:37. > :57:41.But I think Declan has put in a good shift. Ulster just want to up

:57:41. > :57:45.the accuracy. If we do get into their 30, let's make sure we win

:57:45. > :57:50.the ball and at worst come away with three points. Hopefully we can

:57:50. > :57:54.get ourselves in a position to be able to knock the points over.

:57:54. > :57:59.man missing tonight is one of Ulster's young guns who has become

:57:59. > :58:02.a regular in the starting team, Craig Gilroy. Rested tonight, as he

:58:02. > :58:05.has played the last six games in a row, but sitting still is not

:58:05. > :58:08.something you associate with the 20-year-old. We went to the Sports

:58:08. > :58:14.Institute to catch up with the flying winger who has set pulses

:58:14. > :58:20.racing from his very first game last season.

:58:20. > :58:30.This is Gilroy. He is on his Ulster debut - remarkable! What a day for

:58:30. > :58:40.Craig Gilroy. My first cap, I was really nervous. It just all

:58:40. > :58:47.

:58:47. > :58:50.happened. It was not pre-planned or anything. Sometimes I do wonder. I

:58:50. > :58:58.stop to think, I used to watch these guys playing when I was in

:58:58. > :59:02.school. I saw the likes of Rory Best playing, and now I am sitting

:59:02. > :59:12.beside them in the changing rooms before a game. It is a bit crazy

:59:12. > :59:20.

:59:20. > :59:30.sometimes. Well taken by Gilroy. What a talking score by the

:59:30. > :59:38.

:00:13. > :00:19.improve his performance on the field. It was OK for the first two

:00:19. > :00:23.or three steps. It is a natural inherent ability he has, his depth

:03:53. > :04:00.it is a legal once again. And Grant getting penalised for coming across

:10:05. > :10:20.

:10:20. > :10:30.Kyriacou. And then the prostration from Glasgow boiling over and the

:10:30. > :10:30.

:12:42. > :12:51.thumping and shoving and that is Kicking very well tactically,

:12:51. > :13:01.applying the pressure and trying to strangle Glasgow. That is clearly

:13:01. > :13:31.

:13:31. > :13:36.where they want to be playing this in the right position but could not

:13:36. > :13:43.make the catch. We have seen a number of players had difficulty

:13:43. > :13:47.with that ball in the air. Swirling wind. Once you're in the air it is

:13:47. > :13:53.difficult to adjust your body position. The ball swirling around

:13:53. > :14:03.makes it very difficult. So both teams are employing the tactic of

:14:03. > :14:21.

:14:22. > :14:31.would be their fifth in the competition and it makes it

:14:32. > :14:51.

:14:51. > :14:55.and they get the penalty. The ball was knocked forward by a Glasgow

:14:55. > :15:05.player and another Glasgow player came in and played it immediately

:15:05. > :15:12.and that constitutes offside. This is within the range of Humphreys.

:15:12. > :15:19.Some clever footwork by D'Arcy. It all started from Marshall at the

:18:29. > :18:32.But Ulster are back now in their 22. penalty count is now starting to

:18:32. > :18:37.mount against Glasgow in this second half. You can sense their

:18:37. > :18:43.frustration. It was going against Met Police in the first half, now

:18:43. > :18:53.for Ulster. -- it was going against May in the first half, now it is

:18:53. > :19:14.

:20:46. > :20:52.for the second week in a row, he has got to go off. He just caught a

:20:52. > :21:00.stray boot or Ray Stubbs. There was nothing malevolent about it, but

:21:00. > :21:03.off he goes. He must be wondering, is it worth playing this game, when

:21:08. > :21:14.my head? Not the first person to catch a knee or an elbow from

:22:57. > :23:00.from that area. A Brian McLaughlin, the second half is Ulster's

:23:00. > :23:04.commitment to that ball on the ground. Those marginal decisions

:23:04. > :23:09.are also going their way. It is Glasgow who are now making those

:23:09. > :23:19.small errors. Ulster are cleverly putting themselves in positions to

:23:19. > :23:48.

:23:48. > :23:58.capitalise when those opportunities anything resembling a sniff of a

:24:32. > :24:37.has had arguably his quietest game of the season. Good Glasgow defence.

:24:37. > :24:42.Ulster are penalised. They will be upset with that. You can hear Tom

:24:42. > :24:52.Ryder shouting, come on. That was the best bit of continuity by

:24:52. > :24:58.

:24:58. > :25:01.to let it go immediately. There was some excellent lead-up work by

:25:01. > :25:07.Ulster. They managed to break the does good defence, which has been a

:25:07. > :25:10.difficult thing for them to do. Dan Tuohy had to stop momentarily,

:25:10. > :25:20.which took the momentum out of the play and allowed Glasgow to

:25:20. > :25:24.

:25:24. > :25:34.dominate that physical collision. Pat MacArthur has been deputising

:25:34. > :25:34.

:25:34. > :26:26.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 62 seconds

:26:26. > :26:30.for most of the season for Dougie is developing. Both teams will now

:26:30. > :26:34.be aware that the next burst to score goes into the ascendancy not

:26:34. > :26:41.only on the scoreboard, but psychologically can then move

:26:41. > :26:46.towards more of a territory based game and forced the opposition to

:26:46. > :26:50.throw-in those more speculative passes. Lots of replacements are

:26:50. > :26:58.coming on, the most recognisable of whom will be the Scottish

:26:58. > :27:07.international Richie Gray for Glasgow. Chris Fusaro is coming

:27:07. > :27:12.back on. And Moray Low is coming on. The big guns from Glasgow have come

:27:12. > :27:17.on. That will make conditions difficult for Ulster. That is an

:27:17. > :27:20.interesting tactical option that Glasgow have taken, recognising the

:27:20. > :27:30.workload of the pack during the Heineken Cup and freshen it up at

:27:30. > :27:57.

:27:57. > :28:02.He blew that very quickly. Not sure if the Glasgow player was entirely

:28:02. > :28:07.supporting his own weight. But it was very decisive. He had a good

:28:07. > :28:14.view of it. There's an opportunity now for Glasgow, and have not had

:28:14. > :28:19.much opportunity to pressurise Ulster in their own 22. In terms of

:28:19. > :28:25.territory for most of this second half, it has been all May, but that

:28:25. > :28:29.could change. That was a serious miscue for Duncan Weir. He looks

:28:29. > :28:39.with total disbelief at that. He was trying to put it a bit too

:28:39. > :28:40.

:28:40. > :28:48.close to the Ulster line. Sean Lineen will not be entirely happy

:28:48. > :28:54.with that. It is only a game. It is not that bad. Needless to say, I

:28:54. > :29:01.did not really min that. Sean Lineen is a delightful fellow. Not

:47:06. > :47:31.

:47:31. > :47:37.points. This is the last chance for that is game over. I reckon the 80

:47:37. > :47:45.minutes is up. The referee says the 80 minutes are indeed up. It is

:47:45. > :47:54.defeat for Ulster. They have now played nine games in the lead, won

:47:54. > :48:00.four and lost five it. Ulster lost five and drew 1 before, so they

:48:00. > :48:05.have a lot to do. They do, and they will be desperately disappointed

:48:06. > :48:10.with this performance. Glasgow, on their land, playing at home, have

:48:10. > :48:14.rebounded from a disappointing performance against Bath.

:48:14. > :48:18.Ultimately, Glasgow took their chances. Ulster controlled the

:48:18. > :48:22.majority of the second half, but Glasgow were able to convert the

:48:22. > :48:30.limited opportunities they had into points on the scoreboard.

:48:30. > :48:35.Ultimately, that has given them a deserved victory. It was 93-Glasgow

:48:35. > :48:41.at half-time. Two well-struck penalties by Ian Humphreys pulled

:48:41. > :48:47.it back, but Ulster could not turned that pressure into points.

:48:47. > :48:52.Humphreys was unsuccessful with two difficult kicks from long range.

:48:52. > :49:02.Glasgow came through. Duncan Weir dropped the goal right at the end.

:49:02. > :49:09.

:49:09. > :49:12.A very frustrating night for Ulster. Too many mistakes, and missed

:49:12. > :49:15.opportunities were at the root of the problem against a very

:49:15. > :49:20.determined Glasgow side. Duncan Weir was effective with the boot

:49:20. > :49:25.for the home side. Ian Humphreys got three out of six, but missed

:49:25. > :49:29.three crucial penalties for Ulster, which could have won them the game.

:49:29. > :49:39.Glasgow took one of their any opportunities in the second half to

:49:39. > :49:39.

:49:39. > :49:46.seal an emphatic home win. May ran out of steam be way we just ran out

:49:46. > :49:53.of music. -- Ulster ran out of steam. It was a much better

:49:53. > :49:57.performance in the second half from Ulster, but a very poor result.

:49:57. > :50:02.Ulster controlled the game in the second half. We felt they had done

:50:02. > :50:07.enough to win that match. Ryan summed it up at the end of the game.

:50:07. > :50:12.It came down to the team taking their chances. Glasgow got into

:50:12. > :50:18.their 22 half a dozen times and came away with points every time.

:50:18. > :50:22.Ulster just could not get the points. Is it fair to say that

:50:22. > :50:25.Ulster played like that last season, but won a lot of games because they

:50:25. > :50:31.were able to grind it out in the closing minutes of games, but that

:50:31. > :50:35.is something they have not been able to do this season? It has not

:50:35. > :50:41.happened, and it is a fine line, but it is a big difference. It is a

:50:41. > :50:45.fine line. It shows how tight these games are, especially away from

:50:45. > :50:51.home. You must take your opportunities. The game is very

:50:51. > :50:57.finely balanced at nine to tonight. He missed two reasonably difficult

:50:57. > :51:03.chances. As bring said, Glasgow have just gone down the other end

:51:03. > :51:09.of the pitch and scored out of the only clear-cut scoring opportunity

:51:09. > :51:12.they had in the whole game. It is the way things are at the minute.

:51:12. > :51:22.Even after two very good European performances, when we look at the

:51:22. > :51:24.

:51:24. > :51:34.table in the Pro12, Ulster fans will be raising a few eyebrows.

:51:34. > :51:47.

:51:47. > :51:52.They will. Most of those teams have Connacht are on their tails. It

:51:52. > :51:59.will be a dogfight between us. Scarlets have beaten the Dragons

:51:59. > :52:02.tonight. Ulster have a lot of tough games coming up. They do, and the

:52:02. > :52:07.Scarlets did very well to win tonight, because they were depleted,

:52:07. > :52:11.with the Welsh side playing Australia next week. Ulster have to

:52:11. > :52:16.win that match. They are starting to struggle now. They have fallen

:52:16. > :52:26.down the table and a gap has started to open. On top of that,

:52:26. > :52:26.

:52:26. > :52:29.they have back-to-back European Cup games coming up. There is a serious

:52:29. > :52:37.amount of work to do if Ulster are going to make the play-offs this

:52:37. > :52:43.year. There are still six or seven guys to come back. And there are

:52:43. > :52:46.still a lot of games to play. What may help in our favour is that we

:52:46. > :52:54.do not have that supplement going away to the Irish squad that the

:52:54. > :52:58.likes of Leinster do have. But we have Leinster and Munster over

:52:58. > :53:06.Christmas. Those games are potentially in the flux at the

:53:06. > :53:11.minute. We would like to win them, but we could conceivably lose.

:53:11. > :53:14.Every year, it is around Christmas time when you're season is

:53:14. > :53:18.effectively won or lost. It is all the big games in the European Cup

:53:18. > :53:24.and the Pro12 way you have to come away with 75% victories, otherwise

:53:25. > :53:32.you're season is over. Those games against Munster and Leinster will

:53:32. > :53:37.be big games. As we look at Glasgow, their single try-scoring

:53:37. > :53:42.opportunity in that second half was disappointing from an Ulster

:53:42. > :53:52.defensive point of view. It came from a high ball. Glasgow took the

:53:52. > :53:59.

:53:59. > :54:09.initiative. Three errors occurred here. Two people took the same man.

:54:09. > :54:28.

:54:28. > :54:36.If we had just got one thing right, These are just very small margins.

:54:36. > :54:43.But we struggled badly under the high ball again tonight. Well

:54:43. > :54:48.Stefan walk into the starting line and now? They have brought Stefan

:54:48. > :54:52.in to effectively be the starting 15 now leading into Christmas. Adam

:54:52. > :54:57.probably did not have his best game, on reflection. It was a difficult

:54:57. > :55:02.night. There was a bit of wind and heavy rain. But it was not just

:55:02. > :55:07.Adam, it was other players as well, he just looked uncomfortable under

:55:07. > :55:12.that ball. We played in those conditions for probably 75% of the

:55:12. > :55:16.season, so we have to be solid there, otherwise if the ball is

:55:17. > :55:22.loose, the rest of your pack are coming backwards. You are

:55:22. > :55:27.susceptible to a line break. Austen defended well, but it is about

:55:27. > :55:32.defending the high balls as well. What was going on at the breakdown?

:55:32. > :55:38.May wanted to be clinical tonight. At times they were, but too often,

:55:38. > :55:42.they looked lackadaisical. They did not have any ability to generate a

:55:42. > :55:52.quick ball. There were a couple of instances where we were caught

:55:52. > :55:56.short on numbers. We did not have our numbers there to be able to

:55:56. > :56:01.compete effectively at the breakdown, first of all even to win

:56:01. > :56:06.a slow ball but secondly to generate any quick ball. Backs and

:56:06. > :56:12.half-backs thrive on the ball coming quickly. The ball we were

:56:13. > :56:20.able to generate was basically slow. Any fast all we did get, we did not

:56:20. > :56:28.have the composure to hold on to it and make anything. At times when

:56:28. > :56:36.Ulster did, they did not take their chances. You can see the difference

:56:36. > :56:44.here. Then we turned the ball back inside and it started to get bogged

:56:44. > :56:49.down again. You can almost counter three seconds before the second and

:56:49. > :56:56.third guys arrive. That is the problem Ulster have had. They put

:56:56. > :57:05.could phases of play together, and then it is just that last pass. We

:57:06. > :57:10.are a bit slow. Such a big emphasis has been placed on putting people

:57:10. > :57:14.in there to win the ball. Glasgow were more streetwise about that

:57:14. > :57:18.tonight. Ian Humphreys will be disappointed tonight. He had enough

:57:18. > :57:24.chances to put Ulster foreign have ahead that Glasgow could not come

:57:24. > :57:30.back. What did you make of his performance? He played pretty well.

:57:30. > :57:34.He tried to pin the guys back in the 22. It is a small pitch, so you

:57:34. > :57:42.have opportunities to get field position. He had a couple of nice

:57:42. > :57:47.high balls as well. One or two were a bit far. Unfortunately, he missed

:57:47. > :57:51.a couple of crucial kicks. Like you said earlier, it is taking these

:57:51. > :57:57.opportunities. Not only have we lost a game, but we have not come

:57:57. > :58:05.away with a point either. What does Brian McLaughlin do next? He will

:58:05. > :58:08.have to make sure he is fit. It will be a big call. Paul Marshall

:58:08. > :58:14.has been playing exceptionally well. He has had another good game

:58:14. > :58:19.tonight. His game has developed during Pienaar's absence. There is

:58:19. > :58:24.a big call to make. But Ulster need their big-name players back. We

:58:24. > :58:28.missed them tonight. It was pretty evident that they missed them badly.

:58:28. > :58:33.We talked about the lineout not functioning brilliantly, especially

:58:33. > :58:35.in the first half. If you take Rory Best and Chris Henry and Stephen

:58:35. > :58:39.Fry is out, they are all on phenomenal form and it was always

:58:39. > :58:44.going to be an uphill battle. The guys that stepped in did very well.

:58:44. > :58:52.Willie Faloon played well. He is your typical Grant Holt, and he

:58:52. > :58:54.turned over some ball. But it was not enough, unfortunately. Thank

:58:54. > :58:58.you very much. And Ulster are back in action next Friday night at
