:00:52. > :00:55.Hello and welcome to Wimbledon. We saw history today, but it belongs
:00:55. > :00:59.to Roger Federer. He produced a masterclass to crush Andy Murray's
:00:59. > :01:07.dreams of becoming the first British man to take the title since
:01:07. > :01:12.1936. This is how he did it. This was match point. A dramatic
:01:12. > :01:18.match which Murray had led by a set and a break of serve. But the rain
:01:18. > :01:22.came down, be roof came down and Roger got better and better. It is
:01:22. > :01:28.the seventh title. He has not held the trophy for three years, but
:01:28. > :01:32.this is what it means to this great champion.
:01:32. > :01:37.Andy Murray gracious in defeat, but very emotional on the court
:01:37. > :01:44.afterwards. He tried so hard but it was not enough. The genius of this
:01:44. > :01:48.man, just too good on the day. This was just a few moments ago
:01:48. > :01:56.with his wife, who has been such a supporter since they met in the
:01:56. > :02:04.year 2,000. Well, she sat and saw him when so many matches. This
:02:04. > :02:08.means so much to him. He may not win a Grand Slam again, they said.
:02:08. > :02:13.But here he is, not only collecting the trophy but becoming the world
:02:13. > :02:18.No. 1. That will be made official tomorrow. And on the board behind,
:02:18. > :02:26.the name Roger Federer is there seven times. An amazing record,
:02:26. > :02:32.only equalled by Pete Sampras. Now writer making his way up the stairs,
:02:32. > :02:40.through the guests of the boil box. -- now Roger making his way up the
:02:40. > :02:43.stairs. Up onto the balcony. His enduring fans, who have waited
:02:44. > :02:48.through the rain. They have been watching the screens, and that is
:02:48. > :02:55.their reward. He is such a popular champion. He may not be British,
:02:55. > :02:59.but boy, do they love him here. That is Roger Federer.
:02:59. > :03:04.What wonderful scenes they are. They are true tennis fans. When you
:03:04. > :03:08.think what they have been through, weather-wise. It has absolutely
:03:08. > :03:12.poured here this afternoon. We saw history with it being the first
:03:12. > :03:19.final completed under the roof. John Lloyd, Tim Henman with me.
:03:19. > :03:23.Great scenes, and Roger, wow, seven titles. Such a popular champion as
:03:23. > :03:29.well. It is just phenomenal. His
:03:29. > :03:33.achievements in the game - 17 Grand Slam titles. People were trying to
:03:34. > :03:37.write him off. He had reached the age of 30 and the list of people
:03:37. > :03:43.who have won after their 30s is very small. But when you see the
:03:43. > :03:46.way that he is playing, you see the way he moves, it is phenomenal.
:03:46. > :03:51.Putting on a grass court, where I think it gives his attacking
:03:51. > :03:56.ability that bit extra and I think he is the player to beat. I
:03:56. > :03:59.wouldn't be surprised if insolvency comes back and is still the
:03:59. > :04:03.favourite. He produces shot that nobody else
:04:03. > :04:09.can. It must be so demoralising at the other end was stopped exactly.
:04:09. > :04:15.If you don't get a -- at the other end.
:04:15. > :04:18.Exactly. The volley he hit in the second set, the drop volley from
:04:18. > :04:23.the service line, nobody would have even thought about going for that
:04:23. > :04:27.other than him. To make it, that won the second set, basically. I'm
:04:27. > :04:31.not sure what is his best performance - winning the Wimbledon
:04:32. > :04:40.title of becoming number one again. To me, that is mind boggling.
:04:40. > :04:43.A nice problem to have. It is 285 weeks, which equals the
:04:43. > :04:48.record off Pete Sampras. As long as nobody plays for the next seven
:04:48. > :04:53.days, he breaks that record as well. It was the only record that Sampras
:04:53. > :05:01.had left, and he has taken it away as well. If you look at the way the
:05:01. > :05:05.ranking system works, it is points are Kimmett over 52 weeks. Djokovic
:05:05. > :05:10.had won a couple of Championships and had a good chance of getting to
:05:10. > :05:12.number one. But I think the knock on effect of winning is that he is
:05:12. > :05:20.going to be number one for some time.
:05:20. > :05:27.Tim, you were the closest -- the closest.
:05:27. > :05:37.Do you see what he did wrong? He had never lost a set in a Grand
:05:37. > :05:37.
:05:37. > :05:43.Slam final. Andy's momentum was with him. He did not take any break
:05:43. > :05:53.points in the fourth set. Playing Federer, you know your chances a
:05:53. > :05:53.
:05:53. > :06:01.look -- are going to be few and far between. He missed a few shots. It
:06:01. > :06:08.is better that he has tried to play a point on his own terms. Mistake
:06:08. > :06:13.from Federer, you would say he was not aggressive enough. -- if he was
:06:13. > :06:21.waiting for a mistake from Federer. There was a pivotal game when they
:06:21. > :06:29.came back under the roof. It went on for 90 minutes. 10 deuces. -- 90
:06:29. > :06:35.minutes. It just breaks of spirit, when you have fought this hard.
:06:35. > :06:39.You also have to consider that Murray had 40-0 in the game, three
:06:39. > :06:43.opportunities to close the game out. opportunities to close the game out.
:06:43. > :06:49.Then Federer was so intense. It was relentless, the pressure. Finally
:06:49. > :06:52.he was able to take the opportunity. he was able to take the opportunity.
:06:52. > :06:58.Federer held serve. That was where he was taking the match by the
:06:58. > :07:05.scruff of the neck. The one thing about Murray, in the
:07:05. > :07:10.other finals he was too passive. He was not passive today, he was just
:07:10. > :07:14.beaten by a better player. There's no crime in that with Roger Federer.
:07:14. > :07:19.The tough part now is this is four in a row. The press is going to get
:07:19. > :07:29.on to that. This is where Ivan Lendl and so is money.
:07:29. > :07:29.
:07:29. > :07:33.The Federer forehand won in so many points. This is where Murray is up
:07:33. > :07:35.against the wall. Murray did well with a bad bounce,
:07:35. > :07:39.Murray did well with a bad bounce, but he is playing aggressively,
:07:39. > :07:46.looking to dominate. He ends up coming into the not -- net on a
:07:46. > :07:49.good shot. Federer is able to come up with an exceptional backhand
:07:49. > :07:52.pass. pass.
:07:52. > :07:55.I was going to mention the forehand, but the back can, when you are
:07:55. > :08:00.serving to him, you know you have got to get a good second serve in
:08:00. > :08:05.because he runs around and unleashes this massive arm.
:08:05. > :08:10.He was looking to run around and dictate on the second serves. When
:08:10. > :08:13.you are playing against him and his forehand is that good and he is
:08:13. > :08:18.hitting over towards his backhand side, your target to aim at is very
:08:18. > :08:22.small. Then you see the way to open it is you hit a backhand down-the-
:08:22. > :08:28.line, but then you play to his strength. That is where the margins
:08:28. > :08:33.becomes more. Once the start dominating -- he starts dominating,
:08:33. > :08:37.you make unforced errors. It is like a vicious cycle.
:08:37. > :08:39.You get a feeling at the beginning of the fourth set, when the break
:08:39. > :08:46.happen, that it was just demoralising.
:08:46. > :08:53.I think he was. The second serve, Murray's stats coming into this
:08:53. > :08:56.were phenomenal win any -- winning second service points. But you
:08:56. > :09:02.could see Federer causing Murray some problems.
:09:02. > :09:07.This was his last chance. He had worked so hard, and look at that.
:09:07. > :09:11.This is why this game is so great and so cruel. Half an inch would
:09:11. > :09:16.have made the difference of keeping the set alive.
:09:16. > :09:20.That is a different story. That is a forehand he will make 19 out of
:09:20. > :09:29.20 and he has just over hit it. That was when Federer had the
:09:29. > :09:33.momentum. He was up two sets and he felt he had to try and break back
:09:33. > :09:40.then or federal was going to make it harder for us stop he was having
:09:40. > :09:46.trouble standing up -- federal will -- Federer was going to make it
:09:46. > :09:52.harder. He was going to have trodden --
:09:52. > :09:56.problem standing up. It was tough for him today. He was
:09:56. > :10:00.taking the ball on. It was a very good performance. He is going to be
:10:00. > :10:04.devastated, but if he takes it the right way, he is close, getting
:10:04. > :10:08.closer. There's more Grand Slams left.
:10:08. > :10:13.And Roger Federer said it, he will win one.
:10:13. > :10:16.I think we all believe that, but it is the most important thing that
:10:16. > :10:21.Andy does. It is difficult for him in the short-term after losing such
:10:21. > :10:26.an important match. He is doing the right things and he is playing the
:10:26. > :10:30.right way, and the more he does that, the more opportunities he is
:10:30. > :10:34.going to have in the biggest matches. But it is going to be a
:10:34. > :10:39.tough loss to get over. That is when you have got to learn.
:10:39. > :10:44.Ivan Lendl has got to pick him up, say, wait a minute and look at what
:10:44. > :10:48.you did achieve. He has given so much excitement and hope to people
:10:48. > :10:52.here. I hope he knows that he has got the support.
:10:52. > :10:56.I think it helped him today. The crowd loved him. The beauty of
:10:56. > :11:00.tennis is there's a chance to get back into the winning circle just
:11:00. > :11:03.around the corner. We have got the Olympics, the US Open in a couple
:11:03. > :11:08.of months. Not long to wait to have another go.
:11:08. > :11:13.But finally, we get paid tribute to Roger Federer, who is back at the
:11:13. > :11:17.top of the game. It is incredible, what he has been
:11:17. > :11:23.able to achieve in the short-term. You felt that perhaps Djokovic and
:11:23. > :11:28.Nadal were separating themselves from him and he had other ideas.
:11:28. > :11:34.When you go back to the semi-final in the US Open, I think this is his
:11:34. > :11:38.eighth title since then and he has been knocking on the door, but he
:11:38. > :11:42.has never won the struggle for confidence. This is going to
:11:42. > :11:46.increase that. Thank you very much. We have got
:11:46. > :11:50.more tennis coming up. The mixed doubles final is heading on to
:11:50. > :12:00.Centre Court. Today the hero was Roger Federer. Champion for the
:12:00. > :12:00.
:12:00. > :12:43.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 42 seconds
:12:43. > :12:48.A great and popular champion. We have got one file to go at
:12:48. > :12:53.Wimbledon. It is the mixed doubles final and they are on Centre Court.
:12:53. > :12:58.It is the No. 2 seeds against the No. Four seeds. We have got Leander
:12:58. > :13:03.Paes and Elena Vesnina against Lisa Raymond and Mike Bryan. They are on
:13:03. > :13:07.court. Everybody is taking a rest after the drama of the men's final.
:13:07. > :13:17.But they will be back in their seats after this one. Let's join
:13:17. > :13:18.
:13:18. > :13:22.our commentators, Tracy Austin and Roger Federer's CV continues to get
:13:22. > :13:30.more impressive. And it does not more impressive. And it does not
:13:30. > :13:37.get any more impressive than the guys out here. Mike Bryan and Lisa
:13:37. > :13:47.Raymond, Mike has won 11 Grand Slam doubles titles with his brother Bob,
:13:47. > :13:48.
:13:48. > :13:53.and two mixed. Those are with Lisa. But that was nearly a decade ago.
:13:53. > :14:03.In 2003 they won Roland Garros. And this is Lisa Raymond, 38 years of
:14:03. > :14:10.age. The winner of 10 Grand Slams, four mixed, two with Mike Bryan.
:14:10. > :14:20.One of them was in 1996. Then she won in 1999 with Leander Paes. She
:14:20. > :14:22.
:14:22. > :14:29.just rolls on and on. Here is a guy a year older than Lisa, Leander
:14:29. > :14:38.Paes, aged 39. Seven men's Grand Slams to his name, 6 mixed. He has
:14:38. > :14:45.been going, wing titles since... He won the mixed here in 1999. They
:14:45. > :14:51.know each other's play inside out. The one young woman here who has
:14:51. > :14:58.not won a Grand Slam yet, she has been knocking on the door, Elena
:14:58. > :15:08.Vesnina from Russia. She has been in three Grand Slam ladies finals
:15:08. > :15:10.
:15:10. > :15:16.and two mixed finals, one here. Tracy, it is a tough one to call.
:15:16. > :15:23.It really is. These four expert doubles players. Three of them are
:15:23. > :15:28.in their thirties, two in their late thirties. They have been
:15:28. > :15:37.around the scene for a long time. Elena Vesnina is younger, 25. She
:15:37. > :15:47.has the least experience. That is how they got through.
:15:47. > :15:58.
:15:58. > :16:05.Straight sets all the way. The number former proceeds, they
:16:05. > :16:10.had a run that was pretty easy until the semi-final. -- the number
:16:10. > :16:15.until the semi-final. -- the number four seeds. That one went all the
:16:16. > :16:25.way, as you can see. They have way, as you can see. They have
:16:26. > :16:26.
:16:26. > :16:29.earned their place in the final A big smiler. Let's hope we are
:16:29. > :16:34.going to have plenty to smile about this evening.
:16:34. > :16:39.UMPIRE: One minute. It will take a while for the
:16:39. > :16:43.atmosphere to rebuild. It was so charged through the Men's Singles.
:16:43. > :16:49.Such a phenomenal tennis, such high quality throughout all four sets.
:16:49. > :16:55.So much on the line for both players. Andy's speech won him a
:16:55. > :17:00.lot of fans, so emotional. You can see what a title here would mean to
:17:00. > :17:04.him. He had a terrific run to the final. He wants one more in his
:17:04. > :17:08.career. Tracy, you were in the royal box to
:17:08. > :17:17.watch that and now you are here with me. What happened?!
:17:17. > :17:24.It was a phenomenal experience. To be there, so close to the court...
:17:24. > :17:32.Leander Paes is going to play in his sixth Olympics in London. That
:17:32. > :17:35.is the most ever for an Asian man. There's been some controversy, some
:17:35. > :17:40.behind-the-scenes shenanigans and he has found it difficult to get a
:17:41. > :17:46.partner but in the Men's Doubles and in the mixed. But he is a
:17:46. > :17:52.phenomenal talent. At 39, he still moves spectacularly quickly around
:17:52. > :17:59.the court. That would be Polly his best asset,
:17:59. > :18:03.his positioning in doubles. -- probably his best asset. He is not
:18:03. > :18:07.going to hit through his opponent all the time, although he is a
:18:08. > :18:13.great shot maker. He can make the dip shots, the angles. He has
:18:13. > :18:17.always tried to cut his opponents in two and get them out of position.
:18:17. > :18:21.He is very much a threat at the net because he is so quick. You never
:18:21. > :18:31.know where he is going to show up, and all of a sudden intercept your
:18:31. > :18:32.
:18:32. > :18:35.shot. Elena Vesnina is a very solid ground stroke. A lot of power.
:18:35. > :18:41.Got to the quarter-final of the women's doubles and lost to Lisa
:18:41. > :18:51.Raymond, who is across the net from her again this afternoon. Liezel
:18:51. > :18:54.
:18:55. > :19:04.Huber, too. Lisa Raymond will be playing in the
:19:05. > :19:05.
:19:05. > :19:46.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 42 seconds
:19:46. > :19:56.It will be the Americans to start, Right from the first point, you see
:19:56. > :20:07.
:20:07. > :20:17.Leander Paes chips are down low. -- Bryan and Paes have been on
:20:17. > :20:24.
:20:24. > :20:34.opposite sides of the net so many Got it down low, made it a
:20:34. > :20:47.
:20:47. > :20:57.difficult shot for Vesnina. A lot A couple of interceptions from Paes,
:20:57. > :20:57.
:20:57. > :21:53.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 42 seconds
:21:53. > :22:03.That was such a good return from Good teamwork, and they are on
:22:03. > :22:09.
:22:09. > :22:19.their way. They have 158 doubles titles between them. Quite amazing.
:22:19. > :22:22.They show no signs of easing up. Lisa Raymond has done a good job
:22:22. > :22:32.over the last couple of years of becoming the fittest I think she
:22:32. > :22:32.
:22:32. > :22:39.has ever been on tour. At 38, she was one of the oldest to win a
:22:39. > :22:49.Grand Slam last year. Before that, I think it was Billie-Jean King.
:22:49. > :23:20.
:23:20. > :23:30.Not much ferocity behind his sense, but he picks his spot. He has more
:23:30. > :23:48.
:23:48. > :23:57.time to get to the net command he That was a perfect example. He was
:23:57. > :24:07.on the service line. The closer you were to the net, the more difficult
:24:07. > :24:07.
:24:07. > :25:39.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 42 seconds
:25:39. > :25:48.it is for your opponent to get it If Leander Paes does not get that
:25:48. > :25:58.shot right, Mike Bryan will be all over it. Carrillion from Leander
:25:58. > :26:00.
:26:00. > :26:10.Paes! -- brilliant from Leander Paes. Lisa Raymond looked like she
:26:10. > :26:18.
:26:18. > :26:28.had a whole there. Leander Paes was Paes knew he had to get all the way
:26:28. > :26:46.
:26:46. > :26:56.across, otherwise Mike Bryan would Vesnina is very solid at the
:26:56. > :27:29.
:27:29. > :27:39.Solid serving from Lisa Raymond. It is good to suit them settling in so
:27:39. > :27:40.
:27:40. > :27:50.well. It was fantastic doubles last night. Fantastic tennis. Absolutely.
:27:50. > :28:02.
:28:02. > :28:12.Us men's doubles was fascinating. Marray and Nielsen, it was great.
:28:12. > :28:12.
:28:12. > :28:22.And Ben Serena and Venus winning. - - and then. Serena won the singles
:28:22. > :28:52.
:28:52. > :28:57.as well. It is the kind of day when His reactions are so good. Our
:28:57. > :29:01.reactions about the last thing you lose as you get older? I think it
:29:01. > :29:11.is because of the eyesight. You're just not as quick at picking the
:29:11. > :29:26.
:29:26. > :29:36.Leander Paes is so successful, at 39. You can see he could go on for
:29:36. > :29:50.
:29:50. > :29:57.He is so good. Vesnina did very well to get back there. A lot of
:29:57. > :30:07.encouragement. Not just one go, but three does, and that made the
:30:07. > :30:07.
:30:07. > :30:49.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 42 seconds
:30:49. > :30:56.Game for stock -- game. And so, an encouraging start. Very difficult
:30:56. > :31:06.to pick the winner right enough. It looked like another dark cloud is
:31:06. > :31:27.
:31:27. > :31:37.Beautiful staff -- beauty. That is the difference from the better it
:31:37. > :31:37.

:32:51. > :33:01.doubles players, better positions X a return from Vesnina. --
:33:01. > :33:03.
:33:03. > :33:13.excellent return. That flicker of the rest meant she could get it low
:33:13. > :33:13.
:33:13. > :34:27.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 42 seconds
:34:27. > :34:30.She is certainly going for the Game Fulstow up -- game. They may
:34:30. > :34:40.have lost the game, but the best points SOFA and really belong to
:34:40. > :34:57.
:34:58. > :35:05.We talked about Andy Murray missing out on the Grand Slam title. This
:35:05. > :35:15.is the 6th for Elena Vesnina. Looks like the body language is very
:35:15. > :35:17.
