:00:41. > :00:49.Wimbledon is back on track. The weather has cleared, the matches

:00:50. > :00:54.have been completed. The men had their day yesterday. The defending

:00:55. > :01:02.champion has departed but Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic remain.

:01:03. > :01:03.That was the -- that was then and this is now, it is time for the

:01:04. > :01:37.ladies to take centre stage. Girl.

:01:38. > :01:43.Petra Kvitova marches through to another Wimbledon semifinal!

:01:44. > :01:48.You Genie Bouchard! Simona Halep is a rising superstar.

:01:49. > :01:57.-- in Eugenie Bouchard. What a moment for Lucie Safarova.

:01:58. > :02:06.Plenty of girl power on display this afternoon. What a day it is full

:02:07. > :02:08.Lucie Sheva Rover, 27 years of age. -- what a day it is for Lucie

:02:09. > :02:15.Safarova. She is up against Petra Kvitova and

:02:16. > :02:19.she has the experience of winning a Grand Slam.

:02:20. > :02:24.Simona Halep was in a Grand Slam final last month and she is in her

:02:25. > :02:27.first Wimbledon final, she is up against Eugenie Bouchard and she

:02:28. > :02:33.broke into the world's top ten yesterday.

:02:34. > :02:38.A clear sky for semifinal state, a new experience for Lucie Safarova,

:02:39. > :02:44.up against the 2011 champion Kvitova. They will get underway at

:02:45. > :02:49.one o'clock on Centre Court. -- play.

:02:50. > :02:53.And the 2012 junior champion Eugenie Bouchard against the highest seed in

:02:54. > :03:00.the draw, Simona Halep. What a day at Wimbledon, not a cloud

:03:01. > :03:05.in the sky. Big crowds even though there is not much to watch, there is

:03:06. > :03:12.always the hill to sit on and enjoy the Wimbledon experience. Most

:03:13. > :03:17.people are coming for strawberries and cream, traditional at Wimbledon.

:03:18. > :03:22.But on a day like this, ice cream and champagne is in demand. And

:03:23. > :03:27.maybe this is a future champion. Hopefully she will be inspired. She

:03:28. > :03:34.is enjoying her day and I hope her dad is. We are with two Wimbledon

:03:35. > :03:38.champions, Martina and Lindsay. Ladies semifinal stay, it goes up a

:03:39. > :03:44.gear, it is a different feel, less people around.

:03:45. > :03:52.A big occasion. For the players that expect to do well, this is it. Now

:03:53. > :03:55.you can see the end of the road. The excitement increases and the level

:03:56. > :03:59.of play needs to ask well, this is what it is about.

:04:00. > :04:05.Three of the players have been in a Grand Slam semifinal. Do you

:04:06. > :04:09.remember your first semifinal? I do remember my first Grand Slam

:04:10. > :04:14.semifinal. My first Wimbledon one was the year I won it, so that was

:04:15. > :04:20.good luck. It is a very nerve wracking occasion and 20 minutes

:04:21. > :04:25.ago, Lucie Safarova who has never been in a Grand Slam semifinal, she

:04:26. > :04:30.came out and she looked around. She looked at the grass and the crowd

:04:31. > :04:33.and it was a nice moment. She is trying to settle nerves and get a

:04:34. > :04:37.sense of the atmosphere. I hope she was not thinking, this is

:04:38. > :04:41.huge! It is bad enough to play your match

:04:42. > :04:46.on Centre Court, but it is pretty rough at Wimbledon! But she worked

:04:47. > :04:56.so hard for it. She has to soak it up. Let clear it

:04:57. > :05:03.up. Howell do you pronounce it? -- let me clear this up, how do you

:05:04. > :05:12.pronounce it? How you are saying it is fine. There

:05:13. > :05:18.is also a cheque pronunciation. What about this weather? It has been

:05:19. > :05:25.fantastic. Yesterday and today, the least windy Wimbledon I remember and

:05:26. > :05:29.the players have been enjoying it. Maybe it is even to one today but

:05:30. > :05:39.after Australia, it is a cool day. And the court looks amazing.

:05:40. > :05:45.-- even to one. We were talking about the heat and maybe that

:05:46. > :05:51.affects Kvitova some days. She struggles on hot days but it is a

:05:52. > :05:58.great day and exciting to see that next generation come through.

:05:59. > :06:02.Not a cloud in the sky, I wonder if that will last. We can find out with

:06:03. > :06:09.Carol. Their umbrellas but they are not

:06:10. > :06:15.being used to shield the rain. -- there are umbrellas. We are looking

:06:16. > :06:20.at a sunny day, temperatures up to 27 Celsius. Blue skies will prevail

:06:21. > :06:25.into the evening. A lot of blue skies around a gentle breeze. And it

:06:26. > :06:30.does make you feel that bit cooler so it offers were spied from the

:06:31. > :06:35.heat. Pollen levels today, once again they are very high. Tomorrow

:06:36. > :06:42.will be very similar, maybe even a degree higher.

:06:43. > :06:47.That is good, I just had a look at the thermometer and it is 30 degrees

:06:48. > :06:55.on Centre Court. We are going to suffer, let alone the players! The

:06:56. > :07:03.first semifinal, Lucie Safarova will take on Petra Kvitova who has been

:07:04. > :07:21.talking to others about winning Wimbledon here in 2011.

:07:22. > :07:30.Petra Kvitova is the Wimbledon champion!

:07:31. > :07:39.To be under pressure from outside and myself as well, it is difficult

:07:40. > :07:45.to get used to. Every time I step on the court, you are almost the

:07:46. > :07:49.favourite of the Mac is so the opponent sometimes has nothing to

:07:50. > :07:58.lose and it is not very easy. -- the match. New champion, a long

:07:59. > :08:03.journey. It is very nice to have this feeling

:08:04. > :08:08.of confidence. I missed it for a long time so I am glad it is

:08:09. > :08:12.backhand I can play good tennis. You had a difficult start to the

:08:13. > :08:15.season with an illness and it was a slower start, so why is everything

:08:16. > :08:24.coming together now? I worked hard all year. I think it

:08:25. > :08:29.just finally has shown on the court. If you are feeling you are playing

:08:30. > :08:34.well, you are more comfortable. And on the grass, for me, it is like

:08:35. > :08:41.being at home. That is nice for me to play. I think I have shown my

:08:42. > :08:50.performance already in Paris. I think it is going up.

:08:51. > :08:55.What a way to finish! And Petra Kvitova marches through to another

:08:56. > :08:59.Wimbledon semifinal. I am not thinking about the future,

:09:00. > :09:05.just about the next match. That is important. Of course I want to be in

:09:06. > :09:12.the final, so we will see. I am just thinking about right now and not

:09:13. > :09:19.what is going to be. What a moment for Lucie Safarova, a

:09:20. > :09:29.Grand Slam semifinalist after so many years of trying.

:09:30. > :09:35.We know already what we can expect and from the tennis. It is very

:09:36. > :09:41.difficult to play your friend. Everybody wants to win so that is

:09:42. > :09:47.what matters now. It is going to be fascinating, we

:09:48. > :09:53.have just had wind here and that will change things.

:09:54. > :09:56.I almost got knocked over! That may change things a bit. Neither of

:09:57. > :10:02.these players, they have hit the ball flat so that is not an

:10:03. > :10:07.advantage for either player. Maybe Kvitova can hit through it better as

:10:08. > :10:10.she is stronger but whoever plays better in the wind, that will not

:10:11. > :10:14.change the outcome. When she won here in 2011, we

:10:15. > :10:19.thought she would go up the rankings but that did not happen, it is tough

:10:20. > :10:23.to defend that. She was almost a reluctant champion

:10:24. > :10:29.and even after she won Wimbledon, she was sad to get so much attention

:10:30. > :10:32.in her home country. She is much more settled now and more

:10:33. > :10:35.comfortable with being a favourite and potential champion. She has

:10:36. > :10:40.looked to be in a great place emotionally and mentally and that is

:10:41. > :10:44.important with Kvitova. If she wants it and is well physically and hungry

:10:45. > :10:47.and playing some of her best tennis...

:10:48. > :10:55.We have talked about her serve, or what about her nerves? She does have

:10:56. > :11:00.a tendency to go walkabout. It is more concentration. She does not get

:11:01. > :11:04.nervous. If anything, she is too fired up sometimes and she needs to

:11:05. > :11:08.calm down because she is so intense. It is a combination of the

:11:09. > :11:15.expectation and now she is settling into it. For me, she was not ready

:11:16. > :11:21.for what would surround her at that, so it is better now, she is

:11:22. > :11:30.more settled and consistent. A left-handed serve, both. I wanted

:11:31. > :11:35.to ban left-handed serve as! Pittodrie on a grass court. --

:11:36. > :11:41.servers. Particularly on a grass court.

:11:42. > :11:47.Lucie Safarova has to be ready for a forehand return. It is interesting

:11:48. > :11:52.when you look at their head-to-head games. Lucie Safarova was never

:11:53. > :11:59.beaten. It will be interesting to see if that left-handed combination,

:12:00. > :12:06.who it affects more. It affects the point, the big serve, she is in

:12:07. > :12:12.control. Kvitova can do it against anybody and she has so much power.

:12:13. > :12:18.These two blade in Eastbourne last week and Kvitova was up, she lost

:12:19. > :12:22.the game and the set. But she plays well against her friends. I would

:12:23. > :12:28.make sure she does not like me! They are good friends and Kvitova always

:12:29. > :12:33.plays well. I am having trouble with the

:12:34. > :12:41.pronunciation. Lucie, a good all court game and she moves well. She

:12:42. > :12:47.is a great athlete. She is very well liked. She has worked so hard, she

:12:48. > :12:51.is extremely fit. She was so close in Australia. She missed the ball by

:12:52. > :12:55.this much and it did not happen. For her to have success now, a little

:12:56. > :13:02.bit older, everybody is thrilled with her as she is playing. I worry

:13:03. > :13:07.about the power of Kvitova, it is so tough to defend against, especially

:13:08. > :13:13.on grass. Deep ground strokes. Petra's shots reminds me of Lindsay.

:13:14. > :13:17.A heavy shot. It stays that way. That was like Lindsay, the easy

:13:18. > :13:21.power that the ball keeps carrying. Hard to deal with.

:13:22. > :13:27.And you feel if Petra is serving well, that could be the difference?

:13:28. > :13:31.She has the bigger weapons and if they are firing, yes, she has an

:13:32. > :13:37.advantage with the serve. Lucie has a good serve as well but it goes to

:13:38. > :13:42.Petra's forehand and the flat one down the middle, I am not sure.

:13:43. > :13:47.Maybe whoever can get to the other one's backhands on the return of

:13:48. > :13:52.serve will stop if Petra is firing on all cylinders, it is her match to

:13:53. > :13:59.win and lose. -- return of serve. Now we can reflect on Andy Murray's

:14:00. > :14:03.quarterfinal match yesterday against Grigor Dimitrov.

:14:04. > :14:13.A good response from the crowd for the defending Wimbledon champion. It

:14:14. > :14:20.is 20 Czech begin. He has come with a lot of belief. -- Grigor Dimitrov.

:14:21. > :14:27.Andy is a little flat. I think so because he has had nothing to get

:14:28. > :14:30.his teeth into. It is slipping away quickly for Andy

:14:31. > :14:48.Murray in this opening set. A pitch perfect opening set from

:14:49. > :14:52.Google Dimitrov -- Grigor Dimitrov. Andy Murray has two lives -- has to

:14:53. > :15:07.lift his head up now. Stunning. And it has stunned Murray

:15:08. > :15:15.as well. The tennis cathedral falls silent.

:15:16. > :15:20.Beautiful! That was not as easy as he made it look.

:15:21. > :15:40.That is outrageously good. Host to the edge of the abyss here for Andy

:15:41. > :15:43.Murray in the first set -- close. The defence of Andy Murray's

:15:44. > :15:48.Wimbledon crown is over. I need to go away and make a lot of

:15:49. > :15:53.improvements in my game. It is a good feeling, I am proud of

:15:54. > :15:56.what I did, but it is something I worked for.

:15:57. > :16:01.I need to have a think about things, what I need to improve. I need to

:16:02. > :16:09.get myself in better shape and to work even harder.

:16:10. > :16:16.So where does he go after this defeat? Gary Richardson is with one

:16:17. > :16:21.of Andy's former coaches, Brad Gilbert.

:16:22. > :16:26.Andy Murray begins the search for answers is the headline. What went

:16:27. > :16:31.wrong on Centre Court? I do not think he got off to a good

:16:32. > :16:36.start. I think that helped to relax Dimitrov. The two things coming into

:16:37. > :16:44.the match that happened that I would not expect was Andy Murray was not

:16:45. > :16:48.able to have an answer on his return game and his backhand let him down a

:16:49. > :16:52.bit. Especially when they got into a backhand rally. I would never have

:16:53. > :16:57.thought Dimitrov would make so much progression.

:16:58. > :17:01.Dimitrov said, he did not seem right in the warm up, Andy Murray.

:17:02. > :17:06.I heard that and I have been around the sport a long time and I have

:17:07. > :17:09.noticed somebody before, when you notice they are sick or something.

:17:10. > :17:14.To noticed somebody is not playing well in the warm up, maybe I am not

:17:15. > :17:19.paying close enough attention to the warm up, that was an interesting

:17:20. > :17:23.comment. Andy was talking to his box and

:17:24. > :17:27.making gesticulations, which is never a good time.

:17:28. > :17:34.Everybody gets frustrated and he had kept it in. He had 14 matches easy

:17:35. > :17:38.and he did not wrap -- drop a set last year but this guy was a better

:17:39. > :17:42.player. We just have to accept he cannot win

:17:43. > :17:46.every match. It is one of those days that will

:17:47. > :17:51.not end up being the demise of his career. It was one match he did not

:17:52. > :17:56.play and it is the first time he has lost in straight sets since 2010, he

:17:57. > :18:02.will be back. Dimitrov is making great strides.

:18:03. > :18:10.We have two of the big four and 223-year-olds and we will find out

:18:11. > :18:14.if he will be the next future star -- two 23-year-olds.

:18:15. > :18:17.What did you make of his performance?

:18:18. > :18:23.He was flat emotionally, he tried to get fired up in the second set and

:18:24. > :18:27.it was not enough. It was more about Dimitrov playing outstanding tennis

:18:28. > :18:32.and Andy could not find a defence. He was able to neutralise when Andy

:18:33. > :18:38.did something and most of the time Andy was to passive -- too passive.

:18:39. > :18:41.Amazing. The same, he looked flat and whether

:18:42. > :18:46.that was the pressure of defending the title or getting through so

:18:47. > :18:52.easily the first four rounds, he knew he would have to step it up to

:18:53. > :18:57.beat Dimitrov. Everybody had a sense Dimitrov would have a breakthrough

:18:58. > :19:02.soon and most likely in 2014. He was very close at the Australian Open.

:19:03. > :19:08.Andy has to go backhand take time away, he has to train and get back

:19:09. > :19:13.to playing aggressive tennis -- has to go back, take time away.

:19:14. > :19:21.The body language, if we look at some of this, it was so not what we

:19:22. > :19:26.we used seeing, particularly with Ivan Lendl. -- used to seeing. This

:19:27. > :19:33.is not a great sign for your opponent.

:19:34. > :19:39.Dimitrov has no pressure on him. The expectation is so much higher as he

:19:40. > :19:44.played so well in the first games. He was too frustrated with himself

:19:45. > :19:47.here. He did not play with that frustration during the match. It was

:19:48. > :19:51.between the points and not during the points. He needed to compose

:19:52. > :19:55.himself. A lot of reports in the paper said

:19:56. > :20:04.he'd used colourful language towards his box saying, white helmet that

:20:05. > :20:08.before going on court? They said, they does she often uses colourful

:20:09. > :20:14.language. -- why are you telling me that. They say he is talking about

:20:15. > :20:19.himself. It is frustrating in this goldfish bowl of Centre Court.

:20:20. > :20:22.No matter what sometimes, that day is not there for you and Dimitrov

:20:23. > :20:27.was at the height of his possibility and Andy played one of the worst

:20:28. > :20:31.matches and he could not match up. In three sets, he could never turn

:20:32. > :20:35.the match around. He was talking to himself more than I have seen him

:20:36. > :20:39.before. Amelie Mauresmo has been brought in.

:20:40. > :20:42.He made a slip in the press conference and he said, I have

:20:43. > :20:47.enjoyed, past tense working with her. It has been a difficult time

:20:48. > :20:54.for her. Yes, to take the job, so

:20:55. > :20:58.high-profile. And it seems to break barriers to hire a female coach, and

:20:59. > :21:03.is to have her here in his home country, that was pressure on that

:21:04. > :21:08.relationship. It seems like they will take time and try to talk after

:21:09. > :21:12.the tournament, nobody knows if it will continue. He seemed happy

:21:13. > :21:17.before the match, we will see. He has to go back to square one,

:21:18. > :21:21.training before the hard court season goes to the states.

:21:22. > :21:26.Amelie Mauresmo may not fancy at all seeing this. -- the United States.

:21:27. > :21:32.It is too quick, you need months of helping the player before you can

:21:33. > :21:36.make a positive difference. Any difference she made would have been

:21:37. > :21:40.mental and not actual. To continue, it needs more time.

:21:41. > :21:44.Andy also said in his press conference he has been in three

:21:45. > :21:48.Grand Slam is and he has lost them in straight sets, he knows he has to

:21:49. > :21:54.improve, he did not make excuses. A turning point was the second set

:21:55. > :22:03.rate. Dimitrov had come in to make things happen. -- second set rate.

:22:04. > :22:09.Andy seemed to get passive. He knew he had to take chances, Dimitrov. He

:22:10. > :22:14.has to play points more aggressive. He has not got to the point he was a

:22:15. > :22:19.year ago. His safety zone was always to hand backhand he made himself go

:22:20. > :22:26.forward but his body let him down. His body is OK but he needs to be

:22:27. > :22:31.more forward and aggressive. Everybody loses a match now and

:22:32. > :22:35.again and it does not make him a bad player overnight.

:22:36. > :22:39.Back to the ladies semifinals and it is Simona Halep later against

:22:40. > :22:46.Eugenie Bouchard. What a time for Canadian tennis.

:22:47. > :22:51.These must be extremely exciting times for Canadian tennis being so

:22:52. > :22:59.involved, what is it like to have Genie in the semifinals and on what

:23:00. > :23:04.Milos Raonic is doing in Canada? It is exceptional and the first time

:23:05. > :23:08.for Canada to have two players in a semifinal at a Grand Slam. The

:23:09. > :23:12.popularity of tennis is growing. More people are interested and

:23:13. > :23:20.watching it on television. We hope this will have an effect and more

:23:21. > :23:24.younger players will play the sport. We saw Genie win the juniors a

:23:25. > :23:28.couple of years ago. Is her rise to the top wicker than you expected

:23:29. > :23:34.with three Grand Slam semifinals in a row this year?

:23:35. > :23:42.We always believed in her in Canada. Two years ago, I would have

:23:43. > :23:47.suggested she would be in the Grand Slam finals, probably not. She has

:23:48. > :23:53.really improved fast, she is on a fast-track and doing very well.

:23:54. > :23:57.She is still a relatively new name to the British viewing public, what

:23:58. > :24:03.can you tell is about the characters Shias and how she is able to perform

:24:04. > :24:08.on this grand stage? -- character she is. She is driven, self

:24:09. > :24:13.disciplined, as professional as you can get and she loves these moments,

:24:14. > :24:16.the big stage and the big tournament, and she rises to the

:24:17. > :24:20.occasion. It gets the best out of her.

:24:21. > :24:25.Today's semifinal, she is up against Simona Halep who has never

:24:26. > :24:33.experienced this year. She was at the final in the French. Does her

:24:34. > :24:36.game match up well to Simona and how will a new, to the semifinal stage

:24:37. > :24:43.react to it? Genie has played, this is her third

:24:44. > :24:47.semifinal and she is a bit more experienced. Simona Halep is a tough

:24:48. > :24:54.player and she has improved a lot and it is her first semifinal at

:24:55. > :24:57.Wimbledon. She is a great player. Genie will be aggressive as she is

:24:58. > :25:02.all the time, it is a tough match. We look forward to it and I am sure

:25:03. > :25:07.you are enjoying her success, long may it continue.

:25:08. > :25:10.Thank you. That is the Canadian red Cup

:25:11. > :25:14.captain, he is very impressed by Genie and so are we -- Federation

:25:15. > :25:19.Cup. What composure!

:25:20. > :25:23.It is remarkable and we have been waiting for the next generation in

:25:24. > :25:29.tennis and it is great to see her once to her hold the grand slam --

:25:30. > :25:35.want to hold the grand slam trophy. She is ready for the big stage. We

:25:36. > :25:39.saw it with Maria ten years ago and certainly with Eugenie Bouchard.

:25:40. > :25:44.She has future number one written all over her.

:25:45. > :25:49.I saw her play Ana Ivanovic and I thought, this is a future champion.

:25:50. > :25:56.I did not think it would happen this fast but I thought she was two years

:25:57. > :26:00.ago -- away. She reminds me of Novak Djokovic in her approach to the

:26:01. > :26:04.game. The champions play well in practice but better in matches. The

:26:05. > :26:09.middle of the road players play better in practice and they cannot

:26:10. > :26:14.put it together in a match, she is a definite champion.

:26:15. > :26:17.She has already been in two Grand Slam finals so no big surprises

:26:18. > :26:22.here. She had the first in Australia and

:26:23. > :26:26.she was a bit overwhelmed. She played well in Paris and she ran

:26:27. > :26:32.into Maria Sharapova who played so well. This is her third semifinal so

:26:33. > :26:36.she is used to a semifinal day and she is playing an opponent she

:26:37. > :26:40.thinks she should beat on this surface.

:26:41. > :26:46.And if you break her going down, she has a big shot.

:26:47. > :26:51.She moves well on the ground and she takes the ball early, she has hit

:26:52. > :26:55.four returns on the baseline. Everything is inside the baseline so

:26:56. > :27:01.the ball gets to the opponent quicker. But Simona Halep has

:27:02. > :27:06.impressed me with her ability to adapt her game to being more

:27:07. > :27:12.aggressive on the ground. It will be interesting to see who can impose

:27:13. > :27:21.their game on the other. It is about timing. Yes,

:27:22. > :27:26.anticipation. Eugenie Bouchard stays low Welsh -- when she hits. Her

:27:27. > :27:30.return of serve, she takes it so early and it is back to the server

:27:31. > :27:35.so early you cannot get ready for the next shot and Simona Halle has

:27:36. > :27:40.to make a height and centage of first serves because the second,

:27:41. > :27:44.Simona Halep will be all over it -- a high percentage.

:27:45. > :27:50.Eugenie Bouchard has the weapons. She has to be solid because if

:27:51. > :27:55.anybody hits an extra shot, it is Simona Halep. She got to a ball

:27:56. > :28:00.against Sabine Lisicki I thought she had no chance with. So fast, a

:28:01. > :28:05.smooth mover and a quick thinker, so it will be a rate match and who can

:28:06. > :28:11.play better on the big shots. -- rate much.

:28:12. > :28:14.Eugenie Bouchard has the big weapons but can she overcome the speed of

:28:15. > :28:16.Simona Halep? That is the second semifinal but we

:28:17. > :28:51.are now ready for the first. The last time there were two Czech

:28:52. > :28:57.players in the semifinal of a Grand Slam was at the French Open in 1986.

:28:58. > :29:02.A big moment that Petra knows very well but this is a new experience

:29:03. > :29:07.for the easy. And the tournament referee is keeping them waiting.

:29:08. > :29:12.This is precision timing so they come out at exactly the right time.

:29:13. > :29:14.He is checking the clock. This must be one of the worst moments for

:29:15. > :29:20.Lucie. It is, but these two are good

:29:21. > :29:26.friends. They are already exchanging words. That should help pick the ice

:29:27. > :29:30.for Lucie. They look like they are going to

:29:31. > :29:34.play doubles together! They are friends and that should not change.

:29:35. > :29:40.It does help Lucie in this particular time rather than be with

:29:41. > :29:45.somebody paying no attention to you. That should make for a good match.

:29:46. > :29:48.You can be friends but on court, it is a faceless person at the other

:29:49. > :29:54.end. You are playing a tennis ball, not

:29:55. > :29:58.them, it is not that person. They have met five times and Lucie

:29:59. > :30:05.has not won one of them and although it was very close at ease born, she

:30:06. > :30:10.has not won. -- is born. That is a mental hurdle. First time

:30:11. > :30:18.on Centre Court, never beating your opponents, tough three things to

:30:19. > :30:51.overcome. -- should -- you have never beaten your opponent.

:30:52. > :31:01.This is the most special court we have. I think every kid dreams of

:31:02. > :31:10.playing on this court. Did you, Martina? It was the only one we had

:31:11. > :31:14.on TV. Wimbledon was always it for a supplier. The history and all the

:31:15. > :31:17.players who have played on this particular court, you just

:31:18. > :31:25.appreciate this is what our sport is all about. It is great for Lucie. A

:31:26. > :31:29.lot of the big names have gone out but all you can do is beat the

:31:30. > :31:35.person in front of you. Last year she did not beat anyone ranked

:31:36. > :31:48.higher than her but that was not her fault or her problem. She has worked

:31:49. > :31:53.hard, as you said. She came close to beating Li Na and also Maria

:31:54. > :31:57.Sharapova. She has short, compact strokes which is why she has done

:31:58. > :32:05.well on the grass. She is trying to enjoy this and soak it in. Do we

:32:06. > :32:07.believe it? Yes. We have heard from Petra. Now let's hear from Lucie

:32:08. > :32:24.Safarova. What a moment for Lucie Safarova!

:32:25. > :32:33.The biggest moment of her tennis career. Here at Wimbledon, the home

:32:34. > :32:38.of tennis. It is unbelievable. I still cannot believe it. I am so

:32:39. > :32:45.happy. It is the best day of my life, I think. When did the reality

:32:46. > :32:53.sink in for you? It is still approaching me. I just cannot

:32:54. > :32:58.describe how happy you get out there, reaching such a great result.

:32:59. > :33:04.You work every day, so hard and you want to do great, especially on the

:33:05. > :33:10.big tournaments, and being in the semis here at Wimbledon, it is a

:33:11. > :33:15.country. You know each other really well. When you have to face each

:33:16. > :33:17.other, is that something you want to do well for yourself but you play

:33:18. > :33:26.your friends? It is tough but obviously, you are not so pumped as

:33:27. > :33:31.you would be against other players because you're playing your friend.

:33:32. > :33:38.But on the other hand, it is a semifinal. I think each of us wants

:33:39. > :33:41.to reach the finals really badly. We will be two fighters there on the

:33:42. > :33:52.court. When the match is finished, I hope we can go for a drink and be

:33:53. > :33:57.friends again! SUE BARKER: She is so enjoying the

:33:58. > :34:03.occasion. I love it when someone who has worked hard for years gets

:34:04. > :34:07.rewarded with a match like this. There is pressure on the big players

:34:08. > :34:12.but this might be the only time she is in this situation so the pressure

:34:13. > :34:17.grows exponentially for Lucie Safarova. She has never been here

:34:18. > :34:22.before so this might be held one Olympic moment so she had better

:34:23. > :34:32.seize it. As far as the match goes, Lindsay, is it up to Petra to take

:34:33. > :34:36.command? Kvitova has the ability to take the player out of her

:34:37. > :34:42.opponent's hand. Especially on grass, she will try to simplify it.

:34:43. > :34:47.With her heavy ground strokes on grass, as Martina said, the match is

:34:48. > :34:53.in her hands. Can she be consistent enough? We will have to see. De

:34:54. > :35:06.YouGov for Kvitova. She's the favourite on every level. If one

:35:07. > :35:15.person can be territories Lucie. It is lovely to hear from two former

:35:16. > :35:25.champions. Martina has taught me how to say Safarova's name, but I think

:35:26. > :35:34.we will stick with the current pronunciation.

:35:35. > :35:40.What a day for her. We have had checked players appearing before but

:35:41. > :35:46.the first time they have played in the same semifinal, great mates,

:35:47. > :35:55.Lucie Safarova against Petra Kvitova. And for the next hour or

:35:56. > :35:59.so, friendship will be put on hold. Their latest meeting was very

:36:00. > :36:10.recently. Look how close it was on the grass at Eastbourne, Tracy.

:36:11. > :36:13.These two have such a long history. They actually grew up in the same

:36:14. > :36:20.club in the Czech Republic. Petra is three years younger but they will

:36:21. > :36:28.frequently practised together. They have been on two winning Fed cup

:36:29. > :36:36.teams. And they are both less des. There are so few leftys on the tour.

:36:37. > :36:43.That is the coach on the right-hand side in the shades with the tide

:36:44. > :36:55.back hair. And behind is dad, used to be her coach. Her mum, and sister

:36:56. > :37:04.will be watching somewhere in the USA. They are not here today. That

:37:05. > :37:13.is the coach from Canada. He travels with Lucie. He does not train much

:37:14. > :37:28.with her in the Czech Republic. What are we to make of this?

:37:29. > :37:40.Petra Kvitova has only been broken three times. She is the one with the

:37:41. > :37:49.big weapons on court today. The lefty serve and big forehand. Alison

:37:50. > :37:56.Hughes is the umpire today. Alison Lang, as was. Just the most perfect

:37:57. > :38:02.day and the most perfect ten is setting. You wonder how this young

:38:03. > :38:07.lady is feeling, 27 years old and making it to her first semifinal on

:38:08. > :38:12.her 37th attempt. She must have been thinking, will that ever happened?

:38:13. > :38:17.She needs to make the most of it and enjoy the situation. It is her first

:38:18. > :38:29.time on Centre Court so it is more reported for Safarova to have a

:38:30. > :39:11.quick start. Czech against Tech one -- Czech another two.

:39:12. > :39:49.Do you remember the utter disbelief on her face when she became

:39:50. > :40:27.Wimbledon champion? Kvitova is so handy around the

:40:28. > :41:03.forecourt. Great technique on her volleying.

:41:04. > :41:36.Her site has been heavily strapped all fortnight. -- her side.

:41:37. > :41:46.Petra, a very clean all striker. Ball striker. She has a lot of

:41:47. > :41:59.weight to the ball. The best of starts for the former

:42:00. > :42:25.champion. Her coach is bottom left. He first

:42:26. > :42:29.saw her when she was a 16-year-old playing at the Czech tennis academy

:42:30. > :42:34.and immediately thought she looked promising. One of the rare long

:42:35. > :43:01.coaching relationships on the tour. This matchup reminds me a little bit

:43:02. > :43:53.of the Roger Federer Stan Wawrinka matchup.

:43:54. > :44:12.How would you play good mates on tour? You must have done it.

:44:13. > :44:15.It is hard. Safarova has never beaten Kvitova. There is always that

:44:16. > :44:35.added element. The first and second aces of the

:44:36. > :45:03.match. There are so many check marks in the

:45:04. > :45:28.Kvitova box, she has got the big serve and more power.

:45:29. > :46:00.Such lengths on those ground strokes.

:46:01. > :47:07.The hint of an opportunity to break back.

:47:08. > :48:18.She knows she have to be playing full of confidence.

:48:19. > :48:25.It would be very rare for Safarova to win five matches in a row. She

:48:26. > :49:08.has only had five titles in her career.

:49:09. > :49:16.Through to her first semifinal, Safarova, without losing a set. Her

:49:17. > :49:20.longest match was an hour and three quarters. She upset the 10th seed in

:49:21. > :49:30.the next round, and then less than an hour against Ekaterina Makarova.

:49:31. > :49:38.She has had the advantage of a pretty nice draw. You can only beat

:49:39. > :49:42.the players that are put in front of you and she has done a nice job of

:49:43. > :49:49.winning pretty handily, for the most part. It is a day for hats and a day

:49:50. > :50:05.for sunglasses. Everyone is at their stylish best, including Eleanor

:50:06. > :50:12.Sukova. She played in the 1980s, part of the last all Czech pairing

:50:13. > :50:13.in a Grand Slam semifinal. A little bit of history today on Centre

:50:14. > :51:25.Court. Just enough top-spin in the soft

:51:26. > :52:25.nets at Wimbledon. They usually dribble over.

:52:26. > :53:17.Safarova settling nicely early on in this match.

:53:18. > :53:32.The determination to recover what might have been a situation. The

:53:33. > :53:51.constant barrage of power coming at you from both wings.

:53:52. > :54:43.Holding onto the early break of serve by her fingernails, Petra

:54:44. > :55:19.Kvitova. What a way to get back into this

:55:20. > :55:23.semifinal! Look at her dad's face! How wonderful is that? He is so

:55:24. > :55:36.pleased. Lucie's mum and dad flew over on

:55:37. > :55:37.quarterfinals day. He said, why didn't she play this well ten years

:55:38. > :56:08.ago? ! Every parent watching this will

:56:09. > :56:12.understand the motion, the sheer joy on his face as his daughter did what

:56:13. > :56:56.she just did on Centre Court at Wimbledon semifinal.

:56:57. > :57:38.That was a confident backhand. Stepping inside the court, hitting

:57:39. > :58:29.the ball early. Really hit it with conviction.

:58:30. > :58:34.she is ahead. It is the closest she has been to experiencing anything

:58:35. > :58:38.quite like this. She was a quarterfinalist at the Australian

:58:39. > :58:39.Open a while ago but never previously beyond the end of the

:58:40. > :58:42.first week. Open a while ago but never

:58:43. > :58:52.previously beyond the end of It must be tough for her to digester. Her

:58:53. > :58:59.last Wimbledon summers have ended in the second round, first round,

:59:00. > :59:08.second round, first round, first round on her debut. Now she is a

:59:09. > :59:16.semifinalist. At the other majors she has not gone deeper often as

:59:17. > :59:24.well. Quarterfinals in 2007 at the Australian Open and just two other

:59:25. > :59:25.fourth rounds. One very good question are chatting to one very

:59:26. > :59:39.good swimmer. Have you ever been interviewed by

:59:40. > :59:43.Michael Parkinson? No, I have not. Delight you have not had. Now then,

:59:44. > :00:27.Kvitova, having been ahead, behind. That is way we see Kvitova with such

:00:28. > :00:32.hot and cold matches -- that is why. If she wins the first set, you

:00:33. > :00:37.never know what will happen in the second. She was known as 3-set Petra

:00:38. > :01:00.because of that! She even joked about that. She said

:01:01. > :01:14.my name Petra, instead of the E, it becomes a three.

:01:15. > :01:23.It would not have been far away and she might have considered Hawk-eye.

:01:24. > :01:30.She decides to hold on to one of her challenges. It is an interesting

:01:31. > :01:39.dynamic of the match. Kvitova's favourite serve is out wide and it

:01:40. > :01:46.goes to the forehand of Safarova. Important game for Kvitova.

:01:47. > :01:54.Most impressive performance for Petra Kvitova this fortnight was the

:01:55. > :02:00.third round win against Venus Williams, she held her nerve after

:02:01. > :02:02.losing the first set. Two and a half hours but that was a real test and

:02:03. > :02:31.it showed what she had. Well executed. We have seen how

:02:32. > :03:12.quickly she is able to move to the forecourt. Great movement.

:03:13. > :03:19.Really impressive from Safarova the way she is able to absorb the

:03:20. > :03:47.power, the body blow from Kvitova on the second shot.

:03:48. > :03:58.It is not just the way she is playing outward tennis, there could

:03:59. > :04:09.be inner turmoil. If there is, it is not apparent. Completely in control

:04:10. > :04:17.of herself at the moment. Every crochet of the net post and another

:04:18. > :04:47.from the wall. -- a ricochet. No damage done.

:04:48. > :05:02.How about that? In her first Grand Slam semifinal, does she look out of

:05:03. > :05:11.place? I do not think so. She is really up for the Tasker today, very

:05:12. > :05:18.impressive. Dashed the task. She is 27, it has taken so long, she has

:05:19. > :05:22.real perspective. I love that shot. She was not in a good position so

:05:23. > :05:28.she goes back to neutral and she goes big out wide. She got it the

:05:29. > :05:34.end she can really rely on her movement here. She scrambles to her

:05:35. > :05:41.left. And she pulls the trigger. Fired up will stop -- fired up. That

:05:42. > :05:57.is my daughter! 27, she is the oldest of the four

:05:58. > :06:02.semifinalists. The other three were born in the 1990s which either makes

:06:03. > :06:10.you feel very good or very bad. Safarova was born in 1987, Kvitova

:06:11. > :06:18.in 1990. The old guard are doing all right at the moment. Petra Kvitova

:06:19. > :06:26.in the first set of this semifinal. New bulls. -- balls. They will help

:06:27. > :06:56.Kvitova with her serve. It was clipping the baseline but

:06:57. > :07:04.that is enough. Really tremendous anticipation and defence. And she

:07:05. > :07:20.takes her time here. Great footwork. She puts it away.

:07:21. > :07:26.Already up to four. She does use that 6-foot tall powerful frame to

:07:27. > :08:51.good effect behind that serve. Kvitova is doing what she does best,

:08:52. > :08:56.she is hurrying the opponent. The ball getting to them a fraction of a

:08:57. > :09:02.second before they want it. She is rushing her opponent. The key with

:09:03. > :09:05.Kvitova is consistency. She won here in 2011 playing matches like that.

:09:06. > :09:29.After becoming champion. After becoming Wimbledon champion,

:09:30. > :09:35.she struggled with the expectation and the pressure. It was so new to

:09:36. > :09:38.her and she hardly won a match until autumn that year. Then she got back

:09:39. > :09:58.on track. She is a little bit shy and on

:09:59. > :10:01.assuming. -- on assuming. She found the fame a lot, being recognised in

:10:02. > :10:08.the street. Everything that comes with being champion.

:10:09. > :10:51.Great depth from Safarova. The forehand is usually her biggest

:10:52. > :10:58.weapon. A backhand, she is really on fire today. -- at her backhand. That

:10:59. > :11:11.is the coach of Kvitova getting a little nervous. Really impressive

:11:12. > :11:17.from Lucie Safarova. I am sure there might have been people fearing a

:11:18. > :11:22.first semifinal blow out like Kerstin Liggins suffered -- Sweden

:11:23. > :11:29.Microsoft had against Marion Bartoli. -- Kirsten Flipkens.

:11:30. > :11:39.Against a former champion, it has not looked that way so far. She has

:11:40. > :11:43.steadied her nerves early on. She has changed her shoes. Like Djokovic

:11:44. > :11:59.yesterday. I assume there is a standard pattern

:12:00. > :12:06.on the bottom? I am not sure if you are an expert on patterns!

:12:07. > :12:13.Particularly this year, they have become more strict with the white

:12:14. > :12:17.rule. Top players have to send in pictures of their outfits before the

:12:18. > :12:22.tournament. To make sure they are OK.

:12:23. > :12:33.How many dimples you have and how far around the outside of the shoe

:12:34. > :12:44.they come. One of the great and the good of the club watching with

:12:45. > :12:51.interest here. The chairman. He, and does, wondering if the former

:12:52. > :13:37.champion can hold onto her serve and stay in the set -- and bars.

:13:38. > :13:43.No doubt part of the game plan from Safarova is to attack the serve,

:13:44. > :14:04.hitting it early, staying on the baseline.

:14:05. > :14:35.Kvitova's fifth ace of the match but only 59% of first serves in.

:14:36. > :14:53.Let's have a look at where Lucie Safarova has been attacking Petra

:14:54. > :14:58.Kvitova. Three or four shots are going to the forehand of Petra

:14:59. > :15:09.Kvitova. That is the side when she feels rushed and she can start to

:15:10. > :15:10.make more unforced errors. I should say errors because a lot of them or

:15:11. > :15:31.forced. -- a forced. That is the side that I feel Kvitova

:15:32. > :15:36.can use a bit more subtlety. She has a big backswing on every shot and

:15:37. > :15:39.she has to recognise the shot she is receiving and shorten that and take

:15:40. > :16:32.away some pace. That is the gift from Kvitova. At

:16:33. > :17:25.such a crucial stage. Better shot tolerance from Kvitova.

:17:26. > :17:35.Safarova does not mind a long rally but Kvitova was a bit more patient.

:17:36. > :17:42.It is a big point. And how well she played it. A little squeal at the

:17:43. > :18:22.end of the previous point suggested she knew the enormity of it.

:18:23. > :18:31.We know her dad has been enjoying this. I think his daughter is

:18:32. > :18:40.feeling the same at the moment. She is calm and composed. Not fazed by

:18:41. > :18:47.the day she is experiencing. The key for me here with Safarova is, can

:18:48. > :18:54.she sustain this? We have seen throughout her years on tour and a

:18:55. > :18:58.sample this year where she gets so close to beating big players at

:18:59. > :19:02.events. The Australian Open, she had match point in the third round. She

:19:03. > :19:10.missed a backhand down the line by one inch. A couple of other events,

:19:11. > :19:16.in Germany she lost to Maria Sharapova in the third. It will

:19:17. > :19:20.build the experience. Build two days like this against Kvitova. --

:19:21. > :20:02.build-up to days like this. Kvitova started this semifinal so

:20:03. > :20:08.well, breaking her friend in the opening game. But from the point

:20:09. > :20:10.that Safarova got back into it, you felt she has been the one asking the

:20:11. > :20:24.bigger questions. What has shone through as the

:20:25. > :20:31.resolve of Kvitova. -- is the resolve. So hot and cold. She has

:20:32. > :20:32.the bigger weapons but you never know what is around the corner with

:20:33. > :21:17.Kvitova. That is so hard to deal with. She

:21:18. > :21:29.does not get it done placement, so short in the box will stop --.

:21:30. > :22:28.SUE BARKER: we are moving this match on BBC Two, it continues on BBC One.

:22:29. > :22:36.We have another option on BBC Two, we are going to Court Number One for

:22:37. > :22:41.Men's Doubles. The remaining US Open champion is against Daniel Nestor

:22:42. > :22:47.and his partner who were champions here twice in 2008 and 2009. They

:22:48. > :22:50.have taken the first set so we can join our commentators John Lloyd and

:22:51. > :23:01.Barry Davies. We have a challenge from Daniel

:23:02. > :23:14.Nestor. It is called out quite clearly -- it

:23:15. > :23:22.is called out, quite clearly it is in.

:23:23. > :23:38.Serving for the first, to take the first game of the second set.

:23:39. > :23:50.Two double faults in this game. Daniel Nestor, with a cap.

:23:51. > :24:38.First foot fault call of the match. Two doubles in this game.

:24:39. > :24:49.Good recovery by Radek Stepanek! Back to his normal self, which she

:24:50. > :24:56.has not been in this match so far. -- he has not. Zimonjic so angry at

:24:57. > :24:58.himself and he has left his team in trouble with two double faults. Now

:24:59. > :25:17.break point down. Best serve of his match. That is

:25:18. > :25:58.big. 119, out wide. His second base. -- ace.

:25:59. > :26:08.I think there was an element of irritation at the conclusion of

:26:09. > :26:12.that! He had not played well in that game. They have been getting the

:26:13. > :26:16.that! He had not played well in that better of their opponents. They

:26:17. > :26:26.started so well. Radek Stepanek has been the weak link on his side. He

:26:27. > :26:30.lost his serve twice and he was downed break point on the game he

:26:31. > :26:36.held. I wonder them -- I wondered if they might change ends but they are

:26:37. > :26:43.not doing so. -- he was down. That would normally come from the players

:26:44. > :26:49.themselves. So far, he has not served well and he has not acted up

:26:50. > :27:01.well. -- act it up well. It is a bit windy. It is normally so competent,

:27:02. > :27:04.his serve. And he maybe has the best volley in the game. He has not

:27:05. > :27:41.looked like it today. He moves well. We saw how athletic

:27:42. > :27:48.he was in the singles in that match against Novak Djokovic. That is a

:27:49. > :27:52.better game. Where was that in the first set?

:27:53. > :27:58.One of the fascinations of that match was that he seemed to get

:27:59. > :28:06.One of the fascinations of that fitter as it went on. He is playing

:28:07. > :28:08.with three players who are his senior. He is the baby of the party

:28:09. > :28:28.at 35. Daniel Nestor has such great rhythm

:28:29. > :28:41.on his serve. Goran Ivanisevic is watching, he could hit on ace in his

:28:42. > :29:06.time -- and ace. One of the great servers of all time.

:29:07. > :29:12.This is the height you want to hit the volley. Those make you look

:29:13. > :29:53.good. Love game following love game. Three

:29:54. > :29:57.players have played well but Radek Stepanek has not played well at the

:29:58. > :30:03.moment, but he will get better, I am sure of that. Sloppy first set but

:30:04. > :30:09.he will get it back. He will keep working hard. They are a good team

:30:10. > :30:17.and it is great to see doubles out here. Probably 75% here only play

:30:18. > :30:23.doubles so they like to see doubles. Doubles has been pushed down the

:30:24. > :30:36.list these days in regular tournaments. It goes to lower courts

:30:37. > :30:41.and they have best of two sets. So when the players come to Wimbledon,

:30:42. > :30:44.this is the ultimate for doubles. Best of five sets, they have respect

:30:45. > :30:48.here and they love being here so it is nice to see and I think the

:30:49. > :32:58.British crowd really appreciate good doubles.

:32:59. > :33:05.can do with his serve, despite the fact he has not looked the wallop of

:33:06. > :33:07.the others. As far as I can see, he is still holding his serve, no

:33:08. > :33:47.problem. A trusty left arm and that left

:33:48. > :33:56.reach. They have crossed extremely well. They seem to be picking the

:33:57. > :34:08.returns so well. Certainly an art to that.

:34:09. > :34:34.He beats his partner by four aces to two.

:34:35. > :34:56.He was put off by somebody in the crowd.

:34:57. > :35:17.He was annoyed he missed that. It is fun to hit those shots. You do not

:35:18. > :35:22.get a chance to hit many of them round the post. A very delicate

:35:23. > :35:30.angled drop volley from Nestor. Stepanek picked it. It went round

:35:31. > :35:37.the post. He thought he had it. Those are the ones you love because

:35:38. > :35:44.it is a shot you do not see many times. It is fun to hit that. Just

:35:45. > :35:51.go back to the point, in the regular tour they only played two sets. It

:35:52. > :35:54.is a tribute to the consistency of his players that they consistently

:35:55. > :36:01.is a tribute to the consistency of get to the semis and finals. At

:36:02. > :36:06.use, whoever wins the point, wins the point. Each player's serve is so

:36:07. > :36:11.big, it is almost like Russian roulette, it is like playing

:36:12. > :36:16.tie-break tennis every game. And yet the top players generally come

:36:17. > :36:19.through. It shows you how sharp those players are to win those

:36:20. > :36:48.through. It shows you how sharp matches day in, day out.

:36:49. > :36:58.Stepanek keeps on going. He played the French Open, lost early, played

:36:59. > :37:10.a second challenge on clay, then Queens.

:37:11. > :37:18.I would not think there is anybody who plays more matches and

:37:19. > :37:20.tournaments than Radek Stepanek throughout the year.

:37:21. > :38:03.The first ace for Stepanek. His partner, Leander Paes, applauded

:38:04. > :38:04.him. It will keep him feeling confident when things were not

:38:05. > :40:03.working. Zimonjic almost leaning over the net

:40:04. > :41:11.when he hits this. That is the way to step into the volley.

:41:12. > :41:25.At the moment, Paes and Stepanek, are not combining. One is playing a

:41:26. > :41:30.key, then the other one has a dip. They are not sinking together at the

:41:31. > :41:34.moment. It looks as if it will be very difficult for them to break

:41:35. > :41:41.serve. Their best bet is in the tie-breaker. At the moment, they do

:41:42. > :41:47.not look like they are in these games, really. Nestor and Zimonjic

:41:48. > :41:54.are so strong. They back up their serves well. Maybe they might stay

:41:55. > :42:10.back, both of them, to try and make a few returns.

:42:11. > :43:22.Just a little touch of macro in the crowd. --.

:43:23. > :44:04.The smallest man on the court could not get down to that. The return of

:44:05. > :45:00.serve has been very good from Daniel Nestor.

:45:01. > :46:08.A slight threat therein that game. It was taken away with some style.

:46:09. > :46:12.Couple of times he has been a whisker away of catching them out at

:46:13. > :46:55.the net. Stepanek was persevering with the

:46:56. > :47:30.log. -- lob. They both wanted that one badly.

:47:31. > :47:37.Barry, talking about Leander Paes, who is up there in years now, he has

:47:38. > :47:42.been a great doubles player over the years and he still is ranked very

:47:43. > :47:48.high, but a little bit of pace lost now on his service speed and also

:47:49. > :47:54.getting into the net, you see here on his serves, they are mostly in

:47:55. > :48:02.the 80 mile an hour range and he was so quick behind it. Look where he is

:48:03. > :48:08.hitting this first volley now. That is three feet behind where you want

:48:09. > :48:13.today. It is not getting up there as quick as you want to. Having said

:48:14. > :48:17.that, he has not lost a service game yet because his volleys are so good

:48:18. > :48:22.but he is having to hit them from that position on the court and there

:48:23. > :49:32.are only so many times you can get away with that.

:49:33. > :50:00.That really was a well worked point by Daniel Nestor.

:50:01. > :50:24.That is one of the reasons why he is fun to watch.

:50:25. > :50:33.What a return. What a game Nestor is playing here. He is the best on

:50:34. > :51:46.court. In club tennis you would give your

:51:47. > :52:20.partner a big stare after this and say, what were you thinking?

:52:21. > :52:43.I think he had just too much time to think on that shot. He had plenty of

:52:44. > :52:46.time to get up to that ball. About three or four different options. He

:52:47. > :53:07.went straight for the middle of the net.

:53:08. > :54:48.There was a conversation between the umpire and one of the line judges.

:54:49. > :54:58.They are guaranteed a tie-break in this set. But they should have

:54:59. > :55:03.already won the set. They certainly should. Nestor played a fantastic

:55:04. > :55:09.game. He sets his partner up here with really a donation. He is

:55:10. > :55:15.thinking, do I go down the middle? Do I hit the angle? He has too much

:55:16. > :55:28.time to think and then he just dumps it into the middle of the net.

:55:29. > :55:35.It was good that Nestor was serving the next game after that because he

:55:36. > :55:40.got back to business. If they were to lose that set, then he will

:55:41. > :55:51.certainly regret that. That was a very easy shot. It happens

:55:52. > :55:58.I think from the public point of view, both here and watching on

:55:59. > :56:04.television, this match really needs a tie-break to bring it to life. We

:56:05. > :56:13.have had one or two moments that it has not got to you to the edge of

:56:14. > :56:15.your seat. As reading a newspaper would seem to confirm, at least in

:56:16. > :56:59.that gentleman's opinion. That was a great half-volley from

:57:00. > :57:31.pays. -- Paes. Zimonjic may still be thinking about

:57:32. > :59:00.the points he missed. Didn't do enough with the first

:59:01. > :59:34.poorly. -- volley. Nestor did not have to move to hit that one.

:59:35. > :59:38.shots. Having one of those days where he is reading everything. He

:59:39. > :59:42.seems to know where the ball is going before it is hit. Up a third

:59:43. > :00:10.set point. he played point by Nestor. He did

:00:11. > :00:55.the hard work there, Zimonjic and then missed the easy one.

:00:56. > :01:45.first ball he has hit where he was. Regulation folly.

:01:46. > :03:59.That's some know from Paes. A huge point, he makes this shot BBC and it

:04:00. > :04:48.was not easy. -- makes this shot look easy.

:04:49. > :05:45.Once again Nestor is showing he's the best player on the court today

:05:46. > :05:52.so far. He set up a point with the first return, keeping it low.

:05:53. > :06:38.Getting round the outside of that ball and dipped that forehand wide.

:06:39. > :06:48.Oh, what a shot! That's his best shot of the whole match so far.

:06:49. > :06:53.Sensational forehand. Stayed down well on this first return and this

:06:54. > :06:56.one. But this, spectacular. He had to go across his partner there,

:06:57. > :07:04.almost laid him out! Beautiful shot. They've got a double break advantage

:07:05. > :07:48.here. The ball was called in. Is it

:07:49. > :09:13.clutching at straws? A bad mistake at 5-2. This one here.

:09:14. > :09:18.Wasn't sure if this was going out, very close. Two service points lost,

:09:19. > :09:35.didn't make a first serve on either one of them. And it's back on serve.

:09:36. > :11:00.A very brave cross there, 5-5 on the tie-breaker, second serve.

:11:01. > :11:05.That is amazing that they lost that second set. Absolutely through that

:11:06. > :11:20.one away. It all really changed from that

:11:21. > :11:29.challenge. I must say, I thought he was just gambling like mad but the

:11:30. > :11:34.ball was quite comfortable. He actually touched the ball as it went

:11:35. > :11:40.through his legs, I thought, but he didn't. When you go back to the set

:11:41. > :11:45.points, Zimonjic missed two very simple ones. Then Nestor missed an

:11:46. > :11:52.easy backhand volley. He has been immaculate until that point. Then

:11:53. > :11:55.Zimonjic had 5-2, two serves to come and missed a comfortable volley on

:11:56. > :12:02.that one you were mentioning and then didn't make a first serve

:12:03. > :12:06.again. It shows you if you hang in there, Paes and Stepanek had no

:12:07. > :12:09.right to win that set, they were without question the weaker of the

:12:10. > :12:17.two pairs but they won the most important point. Quite extraordinary

:12:18. > :12:22.really. And if they lose this match, Nestor and Zimonjic, they

:12:23. > :12:27.will no -- know the reason why. They should be coasting now. Now they are

:12:28. > :12:31.back into a big battle and the momentum now from Paes and Stepanek,

:12:32. > :12:36.because they think they are going to start playing better, too, because

:12:37. > :13:00.they'd not played well, but they are 1-1.

:13:01. > :13:14.What a change in how the two this end must be feeling.

:13:15. > :13:17.Leander Paes made to that wonderful cross, he is starting this third

:13:18. > :16:29.set. That's huge applause but not a patch

:16:30. > :16:59.on Tim Henman. For Nestor, they just can't get

:17:00. > :17:42.close to his serve. It's not a change of ends, you've

:17:43. > :18:47.got a problem. That's what happened there!

:18:48. > :18:54.I do feel that the confidence level has gone up with Paes and Stepanek

:18:55. > :18:56.and down with the other two. Forget what might have been and get back on

:18:57. > :19:25.the job. They don't say too much between

:19:26. > :19:29.points. Pays and Stepanek of a lot more animated, the communication

:19:30. > :20:11.seems to be a lot stronger. If he checks the footage from the

:20:12. > :20:17.BBC, he's not quite in the same quality. Certainly Tim Henman, I

:20:18. > :20:24.wouldn't say surprised everybody, but it was a brilliant performance.

:20:25. > :20:27.Was it 96? Something like that, just short of 100. I think Alan Shearer

:20:28. > :20:41.made a bit of a mistake, he did his out on the beach. I think he got

:20:42. > :20:45.six, it's a bit embarrassing! Has this Swannell or not? I suppose it

:20:46. > :20:49.depends on how quickly the other two clear their ends. You'll A it's too

:20:50. > :20:54.early yet, but there's no question there's a difference body language

:20:55. > :20:59.wise. Stepanek looks like his confidence went bit there after

:21:00. > :21:03.having all those chances. This is a very important service came for him

:21:04. > :21:05.coming up right now, he needs this one to re-establish himself. Get

:21:06. > :22:18.back contracts. -- on track. When you look back at it now,

:22:19. > :22:21.Zimonjic, it's when he came to this end to serve the tie-breaker. It was

:22:22. > :22:42.very windy, he didn't catch the ball toss. He hasn't missed a serve.

:22:43. > :22:46.That was his fifth ace. He has served well until the most important

:22:47. > :23:54.time in the tie-breaker. I think his partner might have

:23:55. > :24:00.covered that. I'm not sure that was the right decision. Paes, he got so

:24:01. > :24:02.close to the net after that volley. He charged in there. Very nice

:24:03. > :25:20.disguise on the lob. For a moment it looked good and I

:25:21. > :25:25.think they thought it looked good. There will be a challenge to what

:25:26. > :25:31.seemed to me to be the umpire's decision.

:25:32. > :25:53.What are your views about how partnerships get on? You said that

:25:54. > :25:58.two of them are talking to each other, the other two are almost

:25:59. > :26:08.ignoring each other. It's strange. Some teams in my day, Hewlett and

:26:09. > :26:13.Macmillan, they never said a word hardly a changeover. Then they went

:26:14. > :26:18.out there and were an amazing pair. But then you had other pairs where

:26:19. > :26:22.they were very animated at the changeover. A lot of times you would

:26:23. > :26:30.have a leader of the pair. The one that instigated the conversation and

:26:31. > :26:35.would get into the tactics and encourage when needed. It looks with

:26:36. > :26:39.Nestor and Zimonjic, there's not really a leader there, they don't

:26:40. > :26:44.say too much, they just get on with business, really. Paes and Stepanek

:26:45. > :26:45.are a lot more animated. It's however your personality is,

:26:46. > :27:35.whatever works. Almost one good move following

:27:36. > :28:06.another. Roddick Stepanek is certainly more lively than he was.

:28:07. > :28:23.That might be his worst volley he has hit, apart from the one with the

:28:24. > :28:27.set point. So little pressure on his serve. Lost his concentration of

:28:28. > :28:58.it. It's Stepanek who has the last word!

:28:59. > :29:34.What a funny old game this is. How they won that Valley. Very

:29:35. > :29:47.popular with the crowd. It looked like Nestor wasn't going

:29:48. > :29:51.to have his serve broken all day or night. Then just a couple of sloppy

:29:52. > :29:53.follies, no real danger and then all of a sudden, just like the

:29:54. > :30:50.tie-breaker, things can change. Stepanek gets better every time as

:30:51. > :31:10.the match progresses. The stretch of that left arm again.

:31:11. > :31:14.It seemed to have a reach more than its length and the bracket length.

:31:15. > :32:07.-- racket. I love how Stepanek keeps that left

:32:08. > :32:13.arm up, it makes him hit up the ball.

:32:14. > :32:42.He likes a bit of drama, which sometimes results in his opponent

:32:43. > :32:49.getting a bit upset about it. He is a showman, that is the right word. I

:32:50. > :32:58.thought he was going to do a cartwheel there for a minute! The

:32:59. > :33:05.wind of change. It is the belief they have had in themselves, just

:33:06. > :33:09.hanging in, because they really should be sets to love. It is

:33:10. > :33:13.remarkable they are in this position. That momentum change after

:33:14. > :33:21.the second set, it has carried them into this third set. Daniel Nestor

:33:22. > :33:27.and Zimonjic have got to get their act together fast because they look

:33:28. > :33:31.like they have lost a bit of spirit. They are not the most animated duo

:33:32. > :33:35.at the best of times but they look to me to be a little flat. They need

:33:36. > :33:42.to do a bit of fist pumping or something. The crowd are fully

:33:43. > :34:59.engaged but unfortunately, they are supporting the other team.

:35:00. > :35:41.Can Leander Paes stand what must be pressure on his serve?

:35:42. > :35:51.The amount of half volleys he has had to hit... He has hit these balls

:35:52. > :37:03.low enough to win the point. We have lost one of the players. He

:37:04. > :37:13.is going off with his bag as well, I think he is leaving. We may never

:37:14. > :37:18.see him again! They are going to but at least they are not bringing their

:37:19. > :37:23.racket bag. Maybe there is something of great value in it he does not

:37:24. > :37:30.want to take his eyes off! I don't think I have ever seen anyone do

:37:31. > :37:42.that. He is sitting there on his own, what did I do wrong? ! This set

:37:43. > :37:48.was all a momentum change. It just went off the boil for Nestor and

:37:49. > :37:55.Zimonjic. The return of service, they just were not there, they were

:37:56. > :38:10.not clicking. The service statistics, phenomenal.

:38:11. > :38:17.There was a pew meant change after the second set. They should be up to

:38:18. > :38:23.max sets to one but they are not, now they have got a big fight on

:38:24. > :38:30.their hands. -- a pew and momentum change.

:38:31. > :38:38.Normally when one goes off the court, their partner goes with them.

:38:39. > :38:42.When one goes off, that counts as one of the brakes so their

:38:43. > :38:47.partnership go off at the same time. -- breaks. I am still not sure why

:38:48. > :39:01.he took his bag of, extraordinary. It has been an interesting match at

:39:02. > :39:04.times. There have been some periods of some spectacular shots that you

:39:05. > :39:15.hope to see, but not consistent enough, it has been a little bit up

:39:16. > :39:19.and down, we have not had many cases where all four players have been

:39:20. > :39:23.playing well at the same time when you obviously get the great matches.

:39:24. > :39:27.Nestor was definitely the best player up until the second set

:39:28. > :39:31.tie-break and then he faded a little bit. I think Leander Paes has been

:39:32. > :39:36.the best player since then, his spirit more than anything else has

:39:37. > :39:41.kept his team in the hunt. And now, he has held his serve every time.

:39:42. > :39:43.Sometimes it looks amazingly awkward, how he is doing so, but he

:39:44. > :39:56.is getting the job done. A bit of extra work for the ball

:39:57. > :40:03.boys but you cannot really blame Daniel Nestor. They still have not

:40:04. > :40:14.got Zimonjic, the other two have come back. Maybe he has left! Big

:40:15. > :40:27.smile, and some jigging of those two. Stepanek... Not Stepanek,

:40:28. > :40:32.Nestor has won 85 doubles titles. So perhaps he could play on his own! He

:40:33. > :40:45.might have to in a minute! It must be getting close.

:40:46. > :40:55.This is a long break. That is why one of the reasons why I think it

:40:56. > :41:02.would be great to have a stop clock at the end of the courts. 20 seconds

:41:03. > :41:07.in between and also these types of occasions. So the crowd can count

:41:08. > :41:11.down and the umpire stays out of it, it is not his responsibility.

:41:12. > :41:18.Because the clock is the boss and if it is up on the wall, nobody can

:41:19. > :41:21.argue about it. I have not timed it but he has been off an awful long

:41:22. > :41:26.time and now three players are waiting for one. No response from

:41:27. > :42:02.the umpire. I think the umpire will give a time

:42:03. > :42:05.warning when he comes on, that is my guess, I might be wrong, but this is

:42:06. > :42:37.getting a little bit ridiculous now. He took the bag with him, perhaps he

:42:38. > :42:45.will come out with a completely different kit on! He could have left

:42:46. > :42:53.his kit in the room anyway. Why he would need to bring it in his

:42:54. > :43:09.bag... Strange. I think he is coming now. Here he comes with his bag.

:43:10. > :43:20.UMPIRE: Time. I cannot believe he did not get a warning. The question

:43:21. > :44:25.is, what time? CHUCKLES 12 aces. And the Nestor -Zimonjic

:44:26. > :45:12.combination. They will have the advantage of

:45:13. > :45:14.serving first. The match so far has not stuck with the usual rules and

:45:15. > :45:58.forecasts. Some gentlemen in the crowd trying

:45:59. > :48:30.to get everybody else to wake up! A very rare chip return. Most of the

:48:31. > :49:09.players go for big, powerful returns.

:49:10. > :49:57.A good cross here, a bit of a faint -- faint from Stepanek. What a time

:49:58. > :49:59.for a foot fault, that is. That is a lack of concentration when you do

:50:00. > :50:16.that. Really good recovery, that. 98 mph,

:50:17. > :50:47.second serve, that is bigger than Leander Paes's first serve.

:50:48. > :50:58.It is not the same man that he was in the first set. Just that split

:50:59. > :51:01.second move from Stepanek where he faked and went the other way. This

:51:02. > :53:09.time Zimonjic has fallen for it. Nestor trying to get his partner

:53:10. > :53:21.pumped up there. Come on, just sending the message out there.

:53:22. > :53:50.Some good returns of serve from Stepanek and Paes, some good

:53:51. > :53:59.crossing and Zimonjic was being sucked into folly into the open

:54:00. > :54:09.court. Stepanek was reading it all the time. He did well to hold on.

:54:10. > :54:16.Very good second serve, 98 mph. He has not returned well today,

:54:17. > :54:21.Zimonjic. He is what I would call a blaster on the return, he goes for

:54:22. > :54:25.everything. It is rarely that he chips it. He will go through a

:54:26. > :54:30.period when he will not make any returns. Nestor is a more solid

:54:31. > :54:33.return. Zimonjic is the one who goes for the big shot and sometimes he

:54:34. > :54:41.can get a run going but at the moment, he has not been able to.

:54:42. > :54:45.They rely on him to keep having goes and hoping it will click but today,

:54:46. > :54:51.the majority of the time, they have not been combining well, not manage

:54:52. > :55:48.to get two in a row. -- not managed.

:55:49. > :55:55.They need to start getting if you returns back into play. At least put

:55:56. > :55:59.a bit of pressure and Paes and Stepanek. At the moment, the games

:56:00. > :56:16.are far too easy, these service games.

:56:17. > :56:38.It is the time to serve them if you are going to do it.

:56:39. > :56:46.That was a good return but unfortunately, down 40-15, you want

:56:47. > :56:57.to get the first point. A chance to get into the game.

:56:58. > :57:07.Maybe it is not too late. Two good points, started with the double

:57:08. > :57:38.fault at 40-0. And two big returns of serve.

:57:39. > :57:45.That was a pity, though good return of serve, good volley, but they

:57:46. > :58:05.should have got them back into the middle of the court, put it up high.

:58:06. > :58:10.Still seems to be quite a feeling in the crowd in support of Paes and

:58:11. > :58:31.Stepanek. Sometimes, the crowd at this stage

:58:32. > :58:37.one to see the result going the way that they will be off in the fifth

:58:38. > :59:02.set. -- they will be offered a fifth set.

:59:03. > :59:12.Yes. LAUGHTER Goes off with another little

:59:13. > :59:19.backward run. I loved the emphasis there. The showman, here he comes,

:59:20. > :59:22.he comes in and there is the little jolt at the end. Crowd-pleaser,

:59:23. > :59:42.there he goes. Excellent point. He has definitely

:59:43. > :00:40.had moments of inspiration. looking as serious as he usually

:00:41. > :01:41.does. The two backhand is sometimes put a

:01:42. > :03:18.really good use. Better points, Nestor and Zimonjic,

:03:19. > :03:22.shop around the net. They just have to work on this return of serve

:03:23. > :03:27.sequence. The last game they came back from 40-0 down but it got back

:03:28. > :03:31.to deuce with the help of one double fault. Very rarely are they starting

:03:32. > :03:37.the game off well. They don't seem to be getting any zero -15s.

:03:38. > :03:42.Zimonjic is not returning well at the beginning of games. Not giving

:03:43. > :03:48.Nestor a chance to get ahead. They are not combining well in the return

:03:49. > :03:51.of serve aspect of the game. At least they are taking care of their

:03:52. > :03:57.side of the court, that's the business side. They do have the

:03:58. > :03:59.advantage of serving first in the set. They have to start making a few

:04:00. > :05:33.more returns now. 97 mph and it had him at full

:05:34. > :06:31.stretch. It wasn't a call, as far as I could

:06:32. > :07:16.tell. He looks pretty confident that this was out. He got it wrong.

:07:17. > :07:25.Based on the second serve. He moved a fraction too soon there. He hooked

:07:26. > :08:41.it wide into the open court. It was going so well for Zimonjic in

:08:42. > :09:21.this game compared to recent times. Now suddenly break point.

:09:22. > :09:31.It's just not going his way today, is it?

:09:32. > :09:40.They certainly should have been up two sets to love. Since then, it's

:09:41. > :09:44.been difficult for him to lift his game. Nestor's level has dropped as

:09:45. > :09:51.well. Having said that, the first two said he was very good indeed.

:09:52. > :09:54.Imperious. He missed the one set point on his backhand volley, which

:09:55. > :10:00.you should have made, but other than that, quite frantic, the set should

:10:01. > :10:06.have been over before that anyway. Zimonjic has been very up and down

:10:07. > :10:10.today. He has served well in patches but as you saw that last game, a

:10:11. > :10:13.double fault and break point, no first serves in the tie-breaker when

:10:14. > :10:20.he needed them, he's just not been returning well enough. Without going

:10:21. > :10:24.into detail, you do have to ask yourself how well he is feeling. He

:10:25. > :10:31.was away for a long time and it does make you wonder. But it's a real

:10:32. > :11:27.opportunity. That break confirmed they are in

:11:28. > :13:06.winning position. That was a gorgeous lob of the

:13:07. > :13:10.return. We've seen a couple of them today, both have been from Leander

:13:11. > :13:12.and they've both been beautifully done. But that was a bit of a dodgy

:13:13. > :15:13.forehand there, a pity. They've got 15 aces but they need a

:15:14. > :15:18.joker now, don't they? Leander Paes is by far the weakest of the four in

:15:19. > :15:22.terms of pace, but he hasn't lost his serve and he's backed it up

:15:23. > :15:27.well. His partner has helped him out, the combination has worked.

:15:28. > :15:31.This is a big game right here. No matter how many times you've done

:15:32. > :15:35.it, how many titles you've won, all the experience when you are serving

:15:36. > :15:39.for a place in the semifinals at Wimbledon, you get a little bit

:15:40. > :15:54.tired. This is going to be a very interesting game here.

:15:55. > :16:02.They've won 52 doubles titles. I think a lot of the cheering is for

:16:03. > :16:10.Leander Paes. Eight Grand Slams, seven times

:16:11. > :16:26.runner-up. You have to make some returns,

:16:27. > :16:37.you've got to get some balls in play here.

:16:38. > :17:05.I can't believe that shot from Stepanek!

:17:06. > :17:12.A poor attempt at a lob, but Paes won't be complaining. Three match

:17:13. > :17:21.points. It's out! That would have been an

:17:22. > :18:43.interesting angle. They love it and the crowd loved it

:18:44. > :18:55.with them. It's an extraordinary turnaround of what should have been

:18:56. > :19:05.for the others, what, in the end, is for Stepanek and Paes. 3-1. They are

:19:06. > :19:13.in the semifinal. It's so good to see that enjoyment. It is. The crowd

:19:14. > :19:16.loved that. They warmed to Stepanek and Leander Paes, they liked their

:19:17. > :19:20.spirit. Even when they weren't playing well in the first two sets,

:19:21. > :19:25.they got the crowd going once they got into the match and one that

:19:26. > :19:30.second set. Then they were clear crowd favourites because they put a

:19:31. > :19:36.brand of entertainment down onto the court. It's exciting to watch them.

:19:37. > :19:40.They deserve the match but, quite frankly, their opponents, they will

:19:41. > :19:44.be kicking themselves that they were not up to-0, how they lost that

:19:45. > :19:48.second set. They will be going through each point in their mind

:19:49. > :19:51.when they get into the locker room. They cannot believe that they are

:19:52. > :19:59.going off the court losing this match in four sets, they should have

:20:00. > :20:03.been at least 2-0 up. But if you don't close it out on the big

:20:04. > :20:06.points, that's what happens. They paid the price in the end. It looked

:20:07. > :20:10.as though they had recovered from their errors, they had two breaks in

:20:11. > :20:22.the tie-breaker. They couldn't take them.

:20:23. > :20:42.The crowd applauding of the losers. Paes and Stepanek joining them.

:20:43. > :20:49.This is a popular victory, there's no doubt about that. Many more wish

:20:50. > :21:16.them through their semifinal, too. Leander Paes just keeps on going.

:21:17. > :21:21.His age, he loves to play doubles and mixed. He is still very

:21:22. > :21:26.successful, getting to Grand Slam semifinals. He won the Open last

:21:27. > :21:34.year, a remarkable record really. His partner hasn't won here. That's

:21:35. > :21:57.a little bit extra in the support they were given.

:21:58. > :22:05.The crowd have been thoroughly entertained, no doubt about that. A

:22:06. > :22:10.match that lasted for two hours and 32 minutes. Victory to Roddick

:22:11. > :22:27.Stepanek and Leander Paes. A hard-fought match but you are

:22:28. > :22:32.through to the semifinals. How much does that mean to you? It definitely

:22:33. > :22:36.plays a lot, we are playing at the best tournament in the world. We got

:22:37. > :22:41.to the semis, we didn't play much this year so it's a great effort so

:22:42. > :22:47.far. We want to keep going like that. The second set was a crucial

:22:48. > :22:51.turning point in the match. Yes, I'm glad he left that ball go between

:22:52. > :22:56.his legs so I could challenge it. Things seemed to change from them.

:22:57. > :22:59.What I love about him is he keeps persevering. The first set and a

:23:00. > :23:03.half they were all over us. We managed to win the second set and

:23:04. > :23:06.take over the match. Some days are going to be hard like this when

:23:07. > :23:16.you've got guys serving up 90%, but we find our way, that the strength

:23:17. > :23:18.of our team. The crowd really got behind you, how much did that help?

:23:19. > :23:22.It helps a lot. The crowd is amazing, even when I played single

:23:23. > :23:27.with Djokovic, the atmosphere was unforgettable. Today it was the same

:23:28. > :23:31.thing. The crowd got behind us. There's not a better feeling than

:23:32. > :23:35.this one. It really does help you get through tough situations when

:23:36. > :23:40.you know you've got the crowd on your side. We know we've got each

:23:41. > :23:44.other on each other's side. That's the great part about it. I know I

:23:45. > :23:48.come from a country back home where there is 1 billion Indians

:23:49. > :23:52.supporting us, that's some support! Between Prague and the Czech

:23:53. > :23:55.Republic and India, we've got a great following behind us. We want

:23:56. > :24:02.to entertain the crowd, we play hard for them. We look forward to more

:24:03. > :24:04.entertainment in the semifinals. Lots of support behind both of you.

:24:05. > :24:14.Good luck. SUE BARKER: We do wish them well.

:24:15. > :24:18.Leander Paes had so much success previously, but now he's found with

:24:19. > :24:22.Stepanek. They are the US Open champions and have reached the

:24:23. > :24:27.semifinals here. Stepanek always manages to put in some sort of

:24:28. > :24:30.straight move on court. Wonderful victory for them, they reached the

:24:31. > :24:34.semifinals here last year and through to the semifinals once

:24:35. > :24:38.again. The crowd loved all the entertainment out on Court One. Just

:24:39. > :24:41.one double quarterfinal remains, we'll be taking you out to that on

:24:42. > :24:46.Court Two in a moment. Let's update you with what will be happening on

:24:47. > :24:50.Centre Court, on ladies semifinal day. First up, the champion here in

:24:51. > :24:51.2011, Kvitova, came through in straight sets against Lucie

:24:52. > :25:02.Safarova. That big left-handed serve was once

:25:03. > :25:06.again a weapon for Petra, she had too much firepower for her team-mate

:25:07. > :25:09.today. A warm embrace at the net. Well done Kvitova, she is through to

:25:10. > :25:20.the Wimbledon final once again. Petra, many congratulations, you are

:25:21. > :25:26.back in the final at Wimbledon. How good does that feel? It's great,

:25:27. > :25:30.definitely. I can't really describe how I'm feeling right now. It was a

:25:31. > :25:34.tough match mentally as well because Lucie is a good friend of mine we

:25:35. > :25:40.know each other well on and off the court. I knew she was going to play

:25:41. > :25:44.best tennis. I'm just happy that I won. You looked very good out

:25:45. > :25:48.there, the first set going to the tie-break, but you looked in

:25:49. > :25:53.complete command in the second set. I tried to be focused from the

:25:54. > :25:58.beginning of the second set. I break her when she was serving for the

:25:59. > :26:02.first time. I just kept going and served well in the last point. We've

:26:03. > :26:06.spoken earlier in this tournament about the fact that being the

:26:07. > :26:10.champion coming back, it's been a bit difficult. But now you are going

:26:11. > :26:15.for the title again from a different perspective. How excited are you?

:26:16. > :26:21.It's great. I'm emotional from this match but I still had two days to go

:26:22. > :26:26.to the final. I will try my best out there. I know how you feel when you

:26:27. > :26:30.hold the trophy, so I really want to win by second title here and will do

:26:31. > :26:35.everything I can. We wish you the best of luck.

:26:36. > :26:43.SUE BARKER: Very confident performance from her today.

:26:44. > :26:54.Geanie Bouchard, the 20 a-macro from Canada, just two points away from

:26:55. > :27:00.taking the first set. That match on Centre Court on BBC1. Here on BBC

:27:01. > :27:03.Two, well, we are going to take you out to find out who Paes and

:27:04. > :27:13.Stepanek might need in their Wimbledon semifinal.

:27:14. > :27:35.Pospisil and Sock art two sets to one up.

:27:36. > :27:40.COMMENTATOR: It's been a match of food opportunity from these two.

:27:41. > :27:45.COMMENTATOR: It's been a match of food opportunity from these two.

:27:46. > :27:54.They've been demonstrating some joy nor must forehands.

:27:55. > :28:05.Still, they are two sets to one up. Peya of Austria and Sock of Brazil.

:28:06. > :28:21.It has made for compelling viewing. Pospisil and Sock have had some

:28:22. > :28:50.cracking returns but just not able to blend together.

:28:51. > :28:55.Bruno Soares has been holding emphatically throughout. He's been

:28:56. > :28:59.relatively untroubled but his partner today, Peya, from Austria,

:29:00. > :29:03.he has really been struggling up against it. It's not through a lack

:29:04. > :29:08.of pace, he's a very strong six footer, but the return is seemingly

:29:09. > :29:14.getting all over his service games. He yielded once on his very first

:29:15. > :29:19.serve, held on thereafter but lost out narrowly in the first set

:29:20. > :29:26.tie-break and find themselves trailing 2-1 down. But it's been an

:29:27. > :29:33.interesting match. We've had a few slips underfoot and the court

:29:34. > :29:39.supervisor has been called to the court, Wayne MacEwan. He then came

:29:40. > :29:43.back bringing Neil stubbly, the head groundsman, with him, just to

:29:44. > :29:45.inspect the court from a distance. It's all gone since that initial

:29:46. > :29:57.conflab with the umpire. It's been a fascinating match,

:29:58. > :30:08.actually. You do feel at the moment the momentum is very much with the

:30:09. > :30:15.Canadian American duo, in picture. Pospisil and Sock. The 6-foot

:30:16. > :30:20.four-man from Vernon, British Columbia.

:30:21. > :30:32.That's how it's been off his ball a lot of serve and spike from Jack

:30:33. > :30:46.Sock. Slam dunk. Very assured on his serve. Ranked 33rd in singles,

:30:47. > :31:04.Sock. Slam dunk. Very assured on his serve. Ranked 94 in doubles.

:31:05. > :31:15.Pospisil is the Canadian number two, just behind Milos Raonic. We are

:31:16. > :31:23.going to see more of him soon. He has made three tour semifinals in

:31:24. > :31:39.singles. The third round Wimbledon doubles

:31:40. > :32:15.last year with Jesse Levine as well. He has to guard against complacency

:32:16. > :32:48.here, because they are playing catch up in this set.

:32:49. > :33:05.You often see it, 40-15 Arp on serve, you get a little bit sloppy.

:33:06. > :33:15.-- up. You can hear what that meant to Pospisil. Big, big point, that

:33:16. > :33:24.one, in the context of this match. He knows it.

:33:25. > :33:33.We have had some very long service games, a ten minute game on the Peya

:33:34. > :33:39.serve earlier. Pospisil is normally very assured in that regard. This is

:33:40. > :34:08.as deep as we have seen him. Jack Sock has been very fiery off

:34:09. > :34:09.the forehand side, as we anticipated, but Pospisil has done

:34:10. > :34:42.everything really solidly today. Went around the house is a bit there

:34:43. > :34:52.but got there in the end, so we have parity in this fourth set after just

:34:53. > :35:00.over two and a half hours. The second seeds had a five set match in

:35:01. > :35:09.the first round against Mirnyi and Youzhny.

:35:10. > :35:30.The ever alert Bruno Soares at the net despatching another backhand

:35:31. > :35:47.volley. He has played some tidy net play, it

:35:48. > :36:00.has been a solid wall throughout. A bit tetchy as well. A bit of a sour

:36:01. > :36:35.grapes moment earlier saying the court was very slippery.

:36:36. > :38:21.The second seeds have been generous today with double faults.

:38:22. > :38:40.What a different game Men's Doubles is today, the average rally is so

:38:41. > :38:48.short. It is an art form but it is so explosive and quick, Bremen is

:38:49. > :38:57.and more of table tennis or badminton. -- reminiscent. Doubles

:38:58. > :39:07.specialists do not make vast amounts of money. These are the number two

:39:08. > :39:17.seeds. Soares was going mad in the changing rooms the other day.

:39:18. > :39:28.Watching the World Cup. Yes, they just wriggled past Chile. Their

:39:29. > :39:40.career earnings is just past 2 million. I am not saying it is a bad

:39:41. > :39:41.life but there are not the riches of available in doubles that there are

:39:42. > :40:59.in singles. It is a match of very little

:41:00. > :41:11.challenges being used. True. It is available.

:41:12. > :41:19.Hand signals coming from Pospisil, who is impressive himself. Nice to

:41:20. > :41:28.see a singles player playing doubles.

:41:29. > :41:46.Straight finger down, open palm. What does that mean?

:41:47. > :41:54.SUE BARKER: We are going to leave this match because we are going to

:41:55. > :42:00.Court Number One right now, but if you want to watch it further you can

:42:01. > :42:07.on the red button. The winner will go fit -- go through to face Radek

:42:08. > :42:13.Stepanek and Leander Paes, who won earlier. Before we go to Court One,

:42:14. > :42:23.on Centre Court here is Eugenie Bouchard serving at set point in the

:42:24. > :42:27.first set tie-break. And that puts the 20-year-old in front on Centre

:42:28. > :42:34.Court, looking to reach her first ever grand slam final. Bouchard

:42:35. > :42:43.leading the third seed one set to love, and that is live on BBC1.

:42:44. > :42:49.We are heading to Court Number One for a third round in the Mixed

:42:50. > :42:59.Doubles, where Mergea and Svitolina are taking on British wildcards

:43:00. > :43:34.Skupski and Broady. Let's join Matt Chilton and Virginia Wade.

:43:35. > :43:46.Curious that Svitolina is serving first with this team. The first

:43:47. > :43:47.game, the British pair won five straight points to take the opening

:43:48. > :44:12.game. What a shot. Mergea, the remaining,

:44:13. > :44:18.29 years of age. One game each, opening set, and now it is the turn

:44:19. > :44:25.of Naomi Broady to serve, the 24-year-old from Stockport. An

:44:26. > :44:40.errant ball needs to be collected. That is some start for Naomi and

:44:41. > :44:43.that will bring a huge smile to her face, a face which has a ready smile

:44:44. > :45:38.all the time. She is fun to watch. Nice little punch volley from

:45:39. > :45:48.Skupski there. The younger brother of Ken, they played Mixed Doubles

:45:49. > :46:09.together -- they played doubles together. That was waiting to be

:46:10. > :46:14.public deal -- to be one. -- won. Sometimes when you get an easy ball

:46:15. > :46:22.like that you think you P and you don't keep your ion it. -- you think

:46:23. > :46:38.yippee. Great point! That is a really

:46:39. > :47:07.terrific backhand, some wonderful hands at the net from Mergea.

:47:08. > :47:17.Not too many fans in the court after the Men's Doubles, a few went off

:47:18. > :47:20.for refreshment, but with a British pair in action we will expect to see

:47:21. > :47:43.the seats refill rapidly. What a superb lob. Broady was doing

:47:44. > :47:50.so well at the net and eaten by a fabulous lob. I see the wind has

:47:51. > :47:53.picked up, which is probably just as well, because it is actually very

:47:54. > :48:26.hot indeed out there. Great stuff. Really lively start to

:48:27. > :48:34.this Mixed Doubles. She has been hitting the ground strokes so well

:48:35. > :48:59.but she handles the bullies as well. -- the volleys.

:49:00. > :49:09.Broady just a little bit slow out of the blocks there. Plenty of chat

:49:10. > :49:25.between the players, confirming the strategy for this next point.

:49:26. > :49:38.It was the right idea because Skupski had just moved enough to

:49:39. > :49:48.give his opponent and opening. -- the opening.

:49:49. > :50:03.Good serve. 111 mph down the centre. Unreturnable.

:50:04. > :50:16.It is nice to see the umbrellas up. For the right reasons. Sunshades.

:50:17. > :50:23.They look better when the sun is shining on them than they do with

:50:24. > :50:31.the rain falling on them. Everything looks better with the sunshine on

:50:32. > :50:39.it. People are flowing back in now, coming back in in their hundreds. It

:50:40. > :50:42.is always fun, the last few days on Court Number One. None of the big

:50:43. > :50:46.singles matches are run but they have some fabulous doubles matches,

:50:47. > :50:53.and usually some of the legends playing. I guess it is actually a

:50:54. > :51:03.bit cheaper, the seats, than Centre Court.

:51:04. > :51:20.Ivanisevic is due on with Ivan Ljubicic so they have a spectacle

:51:21. > :51:24.this afternoon. It is interesting that both guys are playing in the

:51:25. > :52:08.deuce court. A great drive volley from Mergea,

:52:09. > :52:31.from the back of the court. Lovely piece of skill, 30-0.

:52:32. > :52:48.Mis-hit. And I think he has broken a string as well.

:52:49. > :53:10.There it is, string and the top of the racket snapped.

:53:11. > :53:26.That is great play. A really good doubles point altogether, and the

:53:27. > :53:48.opening is there for Naomi to go down the line and she beats him.

:53:49. > :54:01.Really nice pace about the early stages of this match.

:54:02. > :54:26.Tough, clever serve, swirling into the body.

:54:27. > :54:32.Skupski will be wanting to watch this serve a little closer, deuce

:54:33. > :54:51.for the second time. That was an interesting idea to lob

:54:52. > :55:30.off the return but it was not good enough.

:55:31. > :55:40.of the court, but she could have been anywhere, the serve was too

:55:41. > :55:47.good. Nearly every game has been well contested here. Close,

:55:48. > :55:50.exciting, some really interesting close contact tennis, all four

:55:51. > :56:18.players getting involved. That is the first double fault of

:56:19. > :56:29.the match. He had a shaky start in his first service game, Neal

:56:30. > :56:36.Skupski. He went to 0-40 and got five points in a row to save the

:56:37. > :57:03.service game. Right on cue, the first ace.

:57:04. > :57:12.He has a low toss on his serve which means it is a very quick action and

:57:13. > :58:04.he also gets the ball to skid through.

:58:05. > :58:09.back again, Neal Skupski. It is a big stage for these British

:58:10. > :58:16.players, biggest tournament in the world, number without -- number one

:58:17. > :58:35.court, second biggest court in the UK. Well done.

:58:36. > :58:48.With serve in the opening set and welcome shade offered here. A flood

:58:49. > :59:02.of returning ticket holders making their way back, very much a day for

:59:03. > :59:07.sun hats and fans. Fans with fans. I really like the way that

:59:08. > :59:16.particularly Naomi Broady goes about her tennis. She played so well out

:59:17. > :59:21.here in her second-round singles match and she really seems to enjoy

:59:22. > :59:23.playing, she gets pleasure out of winning a good shot like that last

:59:24. > :59:29.shot of the last rally. They are shot of the last rally. They

:59:30. > :59:39.communicating well as a team, they are on their toes, ready for action

:59:40. > :59:46.and definitely enjoying it. 19-year-old Elina Svitolina to serve

:59:47. > :00:00.now. The Ukrainian, from Odessa originally.

:00:01. > :01:04.Neil Broady saw Mergea moving across and tried to do that shot.

:01:05. > :01:13.the last five minutes from Naomi Broady. -- a few too many unforced

:01:14. > :01:25.errors. You really have to stay in the match the whole time even if it

:01:26. > :01:37.is not your service. All square at the game. Three games all. No brakes

:01:38. > :01:45.yet. -- all square again. Skupski and Broady deep in conversation, as

:01:46. > :01:46.Broady corrects the balls 's -- as Broady collects the balls for this

:01:47. > :02:13.next service game. Looks like a bad error bird when the

:02:14. > :02:18.ball comes straight at you it is quite hard to get out of the way at

:02:19. > :02:27.the net. It is very close to the net as well so you don't have much time

:02:28. > :02:34.to see it. Yes, that's better. Making absolutely sure with the

:02:35. > :02:52.overhead. Followed on from an excellent first serve from Broady,

:02:53. > :03:04.105 mph. Oh, what a good shot! Mergea had seen Neal Skupski shuffle

:03:05. > :03:24.to the centre of the court. A little bit of a minicrisis. 15-30, 3-3. A

:03:25. > :03:28.fantastic first serve. Well held by the gentleman in the red baseball

:03:29. > :03:35.cap! It wasn't a difficult catch, to be honest! LAUGHTER

:03:36. > :03:46.That he was looking into the sun, it could have been very difficult! This

:03:47. > :03:52.is true. Excellent catch! That is an absolutely amazing angle. Making you

:03:53. > :04:01.come back for more when you hit a shot like that. He has shown a lot

:04:02. > :04:03.of skill. Good hands. It goes almost into the same area of the stand.

:04:04. > :04:24.Break point. So, the first break of serve goes

:04:25. > :04:30.the wrong way as far as the crowd are concerned. Hardly a ripple at

:04:31. > :04:35.the end of that game. There can't be too many Romanians or Ukrainians in

:04:36. > :04:49.the crowd. The British pair were broken in Game seven of the first

:04:50. > :04:53.set. Looking a little solemn. Not quite as smiley and happy as they

:04:54. > :05:04.were on the last changeover. They've got to get themselves back together.

:05:05. > :05:07.Elina Svitolina. A lot has been talked about this young lady in

:05:08. > :05:24.terms of her progression, she's just 19, a bright future. Ranked about 34

:05:25. > :05:27.in the WTA rankings, obviously not experienced on grass, the results

:05:28. > :05:33.are not good year, losing in the first round, as he said, to a

:05:34. > :05:42.Japanese girl who is very aggressive. -- as you said. And

:05:43. > :05:46.losing early in the women's doubles. At least she has stuck around and

:05:47. > :05:50.played Mixed Doubles because the more experience you get on grass the

:05:51. > :06:18.better you feel about things. Her partner is about to serve.

:06:19. > :06:28.! A bit of comedy to start with! After city Lena missed the first

:06:29. > :06:35.overhead but this was a bit of magic from her partner. He's come up with

:06:36. > :06:42.a bunch of really beautiful shots. Easily done. Just did not quite

:06:43. > :07:04.close in on that ball. Right at the body! Sorry, Partner, I

:07:05. > :07:40.did not mean to get you killed! Quite a shot! Probably Skupski pose

:07:41. > :07:53.best forehand -- probably Skupski's best forehand of the match.

:07:54. > :08:07.Yes. Worrying times for the British pair. They will have stay in it.

:08:08. > :08:15.3-5. -- they will have two serves -- they will have to serve to stay in

:08:16. > :08:16.it. The third service rotation for Neal Skupski. Serving to stay in the

:08:17. > :09:37.set. Goodness me, a fabulous backhand. He

:09:38. > :09:41.tried it once before, that return, on Naomi's serve, but it was not

:09:42. > :09:55.nearly as good as that. But is an amazing shot. -- that is an amazing

:09:56. > :09:59.shot. Such power in his hands. The interesting thing about Mergea is

:10:00. > :10:02.that he hits the ball so hard without too much backswing. But with

:10:03. > :10:23.touch. Just a little too hot to handle for

:10:24. > :10:58.Broady. A little too much power on that. He

:10:59. > :11:12.likes to pick on the person at the net. Good game.

:11:13. > :11:20.So, the British pair maintain an interest in the opening set. Then it

:11:21. > :11:29.will be dented city Lena and Mergea to serve it out after this of ends.

:11:30. > :11:36.-- it will be down to city Lena and Mergea to serve it out. The court

:11:37. > :11:48.again filling up. -- Svitolina Lena. A huge turn out on the Hill as

:11:49. > :11:54.well, despite the fact that the tournament is winding up, only a few

:11:55. > :11:59.more days to go, everybody is still magnetised by Wimbledon. On a day

:12:00. > :12:05.like today with the sky as blue as the one above Southwest 19 at the

:12:06. > :12:12.moment, there is nowhere else to be. It's a really beautiful place. Even

:12:13. > :12:17.the planes want to make a detour over Wimbledon at the moment. And

:12:18. > :12:45.the flowers are exquisite and very sweet smelling. Maybe the Brits can

:12:46. > :13:26.break Elina Svitolina. Lovely touch on the volley.

:13:27. > :14:02.Could serve down the centre, plenty of heat on it. 102 mph. -- good

:14:03. > :14:09.serve. Mis-hits on the return. Exchanging Ms sits there. The

:14:10. > :14:36.British pair can sense a chance, 30-30 on Elina Svitolina's serve.

:14:37. > :14:50.Set point! They just couldn't take advantage of the second serve from

:14:51. > :15:04.Svitolina. She has done well. Oh, no! What a shot! Mergea certainly

:15:05. > :15:15.the star of the show in this set. An excellent range of shotmaking from

:15:16. > :15:18.the 29-year-old Romanian. Let's look at the numbers associated with the

:15:19. > :15:24.first set. The British pair were not outclassed in all departments. But

:15:25. > :15:34.the majority of the yellow figures favourite city Lena and Mergea. --

:15:35. > :15:44.they favour Svitolina and Mergea. Only one break of serve. On Naomi

:15:45. > :15:48.Broady's serve. She has served well, so it was an anomaly that she lost

:15:49. > :15:52.her serve. I don't think they need to be too discouraged. They just

:15:53. > :15:57.need to make sure that they don't give away any loose shots, this

:15:58. > :16:07.second set. This was the final point of the set. The wrong choice from

:16:08. > :16:10.Skupski, straight into the midriff of Mergea. And he was ready and

:16:11. > :16:34.waiting. It is going to be Skupski who will

:16:35. > :16:47.start serving in the second set. Changing ends. Just checking how the

:16:48. > :16:56.sun and the wind is, down there. Or even the sun and the wind are!

:16:57. > :17:03.Didn't come through, did it? I think we will forgive him that, having

:17:04. > :17:15.played so superbly throughout the first set. Bamboozled by the bands,

:17:16. > :17:42.there. -- bamboozled by the bounds -- bounds there.

:17:43. > :18:30.In general, the volleys have been absolutely terrific.

:18:31. > :18:37.He doesn't want to make a meal out of this service game. He struggled

:18:38. > :18:42.on his opening service game of the match, then pulled through and has

:18:43. > :19:03.held comfortably. The third double fault from the British pair.

:19:04. > :19:19.Elegant volley, that. Just knifed it. Very early. Very simple. No

:19:20. > :19:30.backswing on the volley. No sits down after the first game of the

:19:31. > :19:32.set. - no sits down. Mergea and Svitolina are playing catch up in

:19:33. > :20:33.the second set. Can the British pair build on this?

:20:34. > :20:40.Broady with a view extra words towards Skupski. The second serve.

:20:41. > :20:43.This will help. -- Broady with a few extra words. It really helps that

:20:44. > :20:55.the second serve misses by that much! Three break points. The chance

:20:56. > :21:01.to turn this around. I imagine he's not going to serve into Naomi's

:21:02. > :21:03.backhand this time. With that fabulous shot. Oh, he is! What a

:21:04. > :21:26.game! Isn't that the second day short we

:21:27. > :21:38.have seen from Svitolina? Yes, a carbon copy of what happened before.

:21:39. > :21:42.2-0. Oh, got shot! -- good shot. Broady and Skupski have a real head

:21:43. > :21:48.of steam. Ellie just waiting for all the crowd to come back in and get

:21:49. > :21:50.behind them. -- just waiting for all the crowd to come back in and get

:21:51. > :22:06.behind them. Not the cleanest volley that Neal

:22:07. > :22:49.Skupski will ever hit, but he will take it. That's the only possible

:22:50. > :22:52.problem when you reverse sides for serving. That's the first time she

:22:53. > :23:10.has served from this end. A bit tricky. Well played. And the smiles

:23:11. > :23:14.every turned! -- the smiles have returned. They were subdued for a

:23:15. > :23:24.while but now they are up and running and enjoying their tennis

:23:25. > :23:31.again. I'll! This needs to be challenged, I think. They can

:23:32. > :23:40.challenge. Why don't they? I thought that was out. I must say that I'd

:23:41. > :23:51.agree, I thought the ball was in. And she saw them hit it. I don't

:23:52. > :23:58.think they are giving her a replay. Very picky. He could easily say,

:23:59. > :24:05.replay the point. UMPIRE: The call was after you hit the ball. It was

:24:06. > :24:09.out. Frankly, I think he's right. I think they just have to swallow it,

:24:10. > :24:15.and make sure that they don't lose concentration. Here it is a game. I

:24:16. > :24:38.think you're right, I think it was in. I saw the white come up.

:24:39. > :24:41.Hawk-Eye confirms that it was in. Yes! It matters not any more! They

:24:42. > :25:09.are 3-0 in front! What a fightback! From Neal Skupski

:25:10. > :25:16.and Naomi Broady, British wildcards. In this third round in the Wimbledon

:25:17. > :25:20.Mixed Doubles. It's like Piccadilly Circus. We've got a new set of line

:25:21. > :25:27.judges coming out, new balls, everything happening. I'm always

:25:28. > :25:35.amazed by how many people it takes to police a top-level tennis match.

:25:36. > :25:38.It really does. It's incredible how many people are employed during the

:25:39. > :25:46.tournament, one way or another. It's probably 100,000. I mean, it's a

:25:47. > :25:54.lot. So this is a great effort from the two British players. Maybe the

:25:55. > :25:58.other pair were just leading by a touch, but the standard was high in

:25:59. > :26:32.the first set. Some really good points going on. 0-3.

:26:33. > :26:37.Mergea hit some really neat shots. That one came out of nowhere. A damp

:26:38. > :27:10.volley. -- a dump volley. Very pretty to

:27:11. > :27:16.watch, very skilful hands. He's got a big range of shotmaking

:27:17. > :27:26.capabilities, the remaining. -- the Romanian. Ranked 1180 in the world

:27:27. > :27:38.in singles but in the top 40 in doubles. Speaking of doubles, double

:27:39. > :27:40.fault from Svitolina. The second of the match from the

:27:41. > :28:11.Ukrainian-Romanian pair. Oh, a swing and eight miss from

:28:12. > :28:17.Broady. -- a swing and miss. Naomi just yelled at him to get there, she

:28:18. > :28:19.was so busy watching him scurrying forward, Skupski, that she became a

:28:20. > :28:34.spectator instead of a participant. Neal Skupski serving, 3-1. That's a

:28:35. > :28:42.great return. We've seen that before. The blocked backhand. Short

:28:43. > :28:47.backswing, truncated follow-through. Works on him. Look at the size of

:28:48. > :29:13.those forearms, plenty of strength, that right forearm is twice the size

:29:14. > :29:23.of the loved one! , she has listed! -- oh, she has missed it! It's a

:29:24. > :29:25.comedy moment for Broady that she won't like to play this one again.

:29:26. > :29:30.comedy moment for Broady that she won't like to play this It did not

:29:31. > :29:34.miss by much. She knew exactly what she had to do, she had the whole of

:29:35. > :29:50.the court, and, oops. The line moved!

:29:51. > :29:59.And it seems to be beginning to unravel for Broady and Skupski.

:30:00. > :30:02.Three break back points. They have played so well but every now and

:30:03. > :30:10.then they string a couple of errors together. It is fine if you miss one

:30:11. > :30:11.budget got to tighten up again. -- that you have got to tighten up

:30:12. > :31:04.again. I think that was a good place to

:31:05. > :31:08.serve to Mergea. He is very deceptive when he returns off his

:31:09. > :31:22.backhand. Has hit some good forehands. A good serve! This

:31:23. > :31:27.happened in the first game of the match, they were 0-40 down, and they

:31:28. > :31:33.fought back to deuce and went on to take the game. They are fighting

:31:34. > :31:47.back again. From 0-42 deuce. Good serving! -- from 0-40, two deuce.

:31:48. > :31:48.Now a chance to move 4-1 in front, when two minutes ago that looked

:31:49. > :32:12.highly unlikely. Doubles match have this kind of

:32:13. > :32:16.atmosphere? There was a huge amount of applause because there was a

:32:17. > :32:18.tremendous comeback and it was all fun, the first three points as well.

:32:19. > :32:30.It is really good to watch. It is always fun and exhilarating at

:32:31. > :32:37.Wimbledon and you can see people having a good time. This court has

:32:38. > :32:43.become famous the last few days. Some really wonderful doubles which

:32:44. > :32:49.normally you would not get a chance to watch. Plenty of big floppy hats

:32:50. > :32:56.in evidence this afternoon. The breeze of course... The breeze could

:32:57. > :32:59.be the devil in disguise because it makes everybody feel a little cooler

:33:00. > :33:03.and suddenly before they know it, they will all be burned and getting

:33:04. > :33:06.fried by the hottest son of the year so far. Great hats on display this

:33:07. > :33:39.afternoon. He has had a little trouble with

:33:40. > :34:00.that forehand return, when it is close to the body.

:34:01. > :34:06.Neal Skupski just tried to play the cricket shop to get himself out of

:34:07. > :34:12.trouble. But could not get close enough to it. A slight mishit from

:34:13. > :34:21.Svitolina. Nothing mishit about that! It is fine when the ball is a

:34:22. > :34:40.little further away from him, a beautiful shot.

:34:41. > :35:11.Incredible return of serve but not quite enough to cross the fence.

:35:12. > :35:18.Can Skupski and Broady move along and take this second set, they will

:35:19. > :35:22.have new balls to help them out. We saw the break of serve in the

:35:23. > :35:37.opening set that cost Skupski and Broady their first set. That break

:35:38. > :35:43.did come and Ioane's serve. -- and Naomi Broady's serve.

:35:44. > :35:52.He likes to do that, he likes to nail it right at the person at the

:35:53. > :35:59.net. It is actually good plate of the person at the net's dodging and

:36:00. > :36:01.weaving and trying to intercept. He is apologising for the body shot but

:36:02. > :36:22.he does not really need to. This is worrying. They need a bit of

:36:23. > :36:32.luck here. Hence the discussion in an attempt to get out of this hole.

:36:33. > :36:45.Good serve. 112 mph. She sometimes gets the toss a little bit too far

:36:46. > :36:48.in front of her and I think that is deceptive and the other side of the

:36:49. > :37:02.net. They might think she is not going to hit it. Big serve, isn't

:37:03. > :37:06.it? She's certainly... The fastest serve we have seen from a male

:37:07. > :37:21.opponent was at 130 so she is not far behind him.

:37:22. > :37:49.A hat-trick of hot serves from Broady.

:37:50. > :37:53.return was straight at Skupski, he would have hoped to have done

:37:54. > :37:55.better. They have been playing for exactly an hour and Court Number

:37:56. > :38:12.One. Oh dear, you tried so hard at the

:38:13. > :38:20.net. Just coming up short a few times. This has got to hurt Neal

:38:21. > :38:23.Skupski. Another relatively straightforward backhand volley

:38:24. > :38:32.finding the Court One net. That will be out. A whole series of

:38:33. > :39:06.good first serves. It is moving enough to put them off

:39:07. > :40:01.the shot. Neal Skupski thoroughly enjoyed that

:40:02. > :40:10.volley, following it up with a big war cry and a fist pump. Here it is

:40:11. > :40:15.again. He did well, that game, I know he took quite a few chances and

:40:16. > :40:21.missed a few balls, but he ended up winning more than he lost. He

:40:22. > :40:31.certainly got his opponents guessing. They did not know where he

:40:32. > :40:38.was on the court. Good game. Good game. Good match. Great atmosphere.

:40:39. > :40:41.Beautiful day. British interest. What more could you want? Perfect! A

:40:42. > :40:55.victory! Yes. This is one of the matches, it is

:40:56. > :41:03.still a third-round match. Six of the quarterfinalists are actually

:41:04. > :41:17.through. Elina Svitolina serving to stay in the second set.

:41:18. > :41:27.Neal Skupski changed his call from "mine" to "yours". She got the

:41:28. > :41:57.message. Great volley. Masterclass from Niobe

:41:58. > :42:05.Broady. -- Niobe Broady. Definitely the better team at the moment. They

:42:06. > :42:06.really have to keep this up. Broady is playing with such confidence and

:42:07. > :42:22.the backhand. Those long arms are a little jam. --

:42:23. > :43:22.jammed. Still set point for the British

:43:23. > :43:46.pair. Skupski spotted his chance, lunged

:43:47. > :43:52.across but unfortunately, a little too much on the volley. Usually, the

:43:53. > :44:07.errors come when he is trying to do the right thing.

:44:08. > :44:16.That was a shame because it is four points in the row that have gone to

:44:17. > :44:46.Svitolina. It will be down to Skupski to serve

:44:47. > :44:52.for the set. They have got to really focus on this game because when you

:44:53. > :44:56.have had 0-40, three set points in a row, it can get away from you. It

:44:57. > :45:20.can get into your head. At she did well, I know in the end,

:45:21. > :45:26.it was a little better than she intended, but that was... The ball

:45:27. > :45:29.was going fast and low at her. Shot of the match from Broady. There have

:45:30. > :45:50.been a few. Skupski's volleying has been

:45:51. > :46:01.erratic. Hot and cold. Surely this time they can put the

:46:02. > :47:03.second set to bed? Such a good return. They are going

:47:04. > :47:05.to challenge this one. Probably better it was called out. RHYTHMIC

:47:06. > :47:26.CLAPPING Two blades of grass, the difference.

:47:27. > :47:33.Hit has been happening again, that backhand. -- it has been happening

:47:34. > :47:43.again. Disguises it so well and he just rips it. This is their fifth

:47:44. > :47:55.set point. 40-30. You get the feeling in needs to be now or never.

:47:56. > :48:00.Just to break up his rhythm between first and second serves, he has got

:48:01. > :48:14.a shoelace issue. That was a very good return. A

:48:15. > :48:21.little bit of a short serve. And a few anxious words from the Court One

:48:22. > :48:23.crowd. Little rumble and mumble from the supporters here. They are

:48:24. > :49:18.worried about what they are seeing. A collective sighs when they finally

:49:19. > :49:23.put that away. Set number six was the one that did it. Much more

:49:24. > :49:44.yellow on the British side of the second set summary.

:49:45. > :49:53.They played a very solid set. They had a couple of misses towards the

:49:54. > :49:59.end but never any vital stages. That last shot, he knifed that backhand

:50:00. > :50:03.so well. It stayed really low. And not only a little momentum going

:50:04. > :50:08.with them, but they have really got a good crowd enjoying this and

:50:09. > :50:12.behind them as well. And they are still coming in, the court is

:50:13. > :50:16.filling up with every change of end. There must have been just a couple

:50:17. > :50:25.of hundred at the start of the match. Now, it is about three

:50:26. > :50:33.quarters full. And the match will be decided in the third and final set.

:50:34. > :50:51.Really important. The and Broady to stay on top. -- really important for

:50:52. > :52:03.Skupski and Broady to stay on top. Even if they do not win this game,

:52:04. > :52:07.it was getting away from them pretty quickly so that slowed it down a

:52:08. > :52:34.little bit. Great shot from Skupski. That will do as well.

:52:35. > :52:44.Lovely. That will help. That is kind of him. Very kind. Third double

:52:45. > :53:11.fault from the pair. It is great isn't it, when you

:53:12. > :53:12.get... There it is an exciting mix like this and the crowd gets so

:53:13. > :53:27.responsive. When the Brits lose a point, there

:53:28. > :53:42.are groans. Collective groan around the court.

:53:43. > :53:59.She really has an absolutely amazing backhand. She just rips it. But that

:54:00. > :54:29.was just half an inch low. The British pair will take

:54:30. > :54:36.encouragement from parts performance in the first game of the final set.

:54:37. > :54:43.They are nerds being shown by their opponent. Look at that sky.

:54:44. > :54:47.Absolutely fantastic. What a day. The hottest day of the year so far.

:54:48. > :55:00.The finest weather for the 2014 championships. Nothing like it, the

:55:01. > :55:02.green grass and blue sky. There are a lot of light colours in the crowd,

:55:03. > :55:24.a lot of pinks today. Good serve. That could not have been out by

:55:25. > :56:07.much. Now is very much the time for

:56:08. > :56:35.positive thinking. That is too bad. It was amazing

:56:36. > :56:42.because it was almost a double bounce. Before Mergea hit the ball.

:56:43. > :56:56.I think that tricked the Brits. They do not want to let the momentum

:56:57. > :57:16.switch such at this stage of the set.

:57:17. > :57:29.Could this be the start of trouble for Skupski and Broady?

:57:30. > :57:39.There is an uneasy tension around Court One now.

:57:40. > :57:49.They looked worried these last few points.

:57:50. > :58:05.He likes his backhand but it was almost like you should have run

:58:06. > :58:12.around and on a forehand. Fifth ace to offset the five double

:58:13. > :58:52.faults. Real tension in the Skupski service

:58:53. > :59:07.action. Hopefully that will settle Neal

:59:08. > :59:22.Skupski's nerves. All square and a potential to do

:59:23. > :59:42.some damage and the Svitolina serve. -- on the serve.

:59:43. > :00:06.This was the one that was called out and then corrected.

:00:07. > :00:14.touch volleys. I don't think it had to be that good, as a matter of

:00:15. > :00:19.fact. It's just got a little scrappy right now. I guess everyone is a

:00:20. > :00:37.tiny bit tense, trying to establish themselves in the third set.

:00:38. > :00:44.A little confusion all round. It did not look like the silver is going in

:00:45. > :00:48.and then it did go in. It was a late hit. -- it did not look like the

:00:49. > :01:11.serve was going in, and then it did go in.

:01:12. > :01:20.Not too many female players use a single-handed backhand these days,

:01:21. > :01:29.plenty of men still do. Broady's is certainly not orthodox. It is very

:01:30. > :01:34.unusual. Of course, the one that comes to mind that is so good is

:01:35. > :01:42.probably Carla Suarez Navarro, the Spanish goal. -- the Spanish girl.

:01:43. > :01:48.She doesn't play well on grass though. She used to be able to

:01:49. > :01:59.volley, now she doesn't. It's all got a little busy.

:02:00. > :02:12.That is Three break backhands from Broady. The return of serve, the

:02:13. > :02:16.volley, and the second volley here, away from Mergea. She did not try to

:02:17. > :02:27.do anything to exotic, it was perfect. Mergea moved just at the

:02:28. > :02:58.right moment. She has done it again! Awfully well

:02:59. > :03:01.played by Naomi Broady. She's very tall, she has to get down a long way

:03:02. > :03:33.for these low volleys and control them.

:03:34. > :03:52.A stuttering service game from Elina Svitolina. That she held on. -- but

:03:53. > :03:58.she held on. Level pegging in the third set. The standard just went

:03:59. > :04:03.off a little in the last game but it least there were some great shots in

:04:04. > :04:11.there, some super low volleys from Broady. But this man in your

:04:12. > :04:20.picture, Florin Mergea, he really has some touch and power in his

:04:21. > :04:28.hands. You can see the strength, the thickness of his right forearm. He

:04:29. > :04:38.spends a lot of time in the gym. It is a powerful weapon. Talking of

:04:39. > :04:45.powerful weapons! Myself someone to go out and get them. A round of

:04:46. > :04:56.pins. -- nice of the Midi to go out and get them. - nice of somebody to

:04:57. > :04:58.go out and get them. It could be fruit tea. Broady to serve. 1-2,

:04:59. > :05:25.final set. That has been his shot of the match.

:05:26. > :05:31.Not just that one, his backhand return down the line. You can see

:05:32. > :05:44.why he prefers to play images Mac court. -- why he prefers to play in

:05:45. > :06:10.the deuce court. Much too easy, slightly mis-hitting

:06:11. > :06:23.it. Mishit the overhead, Skupski, but this one coming here...

:06:24. > :06:31.Broady has definitely won herself a lot of supporters, this tournament,

:06:32. > :06:41.winning her first round of singles, playing well against Caroline

:06:42. > :06:47.Wozniacki. And everybody knew the story about her, when she was 17,

:06:48. > :06:51.she had to live with that. Long. She will never erase it but I think she

:06:52. > :07:01.will certainly feel better about her public image now. -- she had to live

:07:02. > :07:12.with that for so long. Maybe that missed? Whose side am I on? It did

:07:13. > :07:16.Ms! No challenge from the Ukrainian-Romanian partnership

:07:17. > :07:40.either. Here it is from Svitolina. Good call. Good point. Well played,

:07:41. > :07:47.she almost made that one. Beautiful short angled volley. It was just the

:07:48. > :08:03.net that became the problem, got in the way.

:08:04. > :09:12.All square in the final set, 2-2. The intensity has picked up again.

:09:13. > :09:23.Definitely the door opening a little bit.

:09:24. > :09:44.Another second serve. Skupski must put this back into play. It doesn't

:09:45. > :09:52.matter! What an opportunity for Broady and Skupski now, three rig

:09:53. > :09:59.points on the Mergea serve. -- three break points.

:10:00. > :10:21.Florin Mergea really felt the pressure there. And double fault to

:10:22. > :10:30.surrender the break of serve. To love! By! You don't expect that to

:10:31. > :10:39.happen in Mixed Doubles that the man loses his serve to love but you take

:10:40. > :10:44.whatever you can get. There was a bit of tension around court 120

:10:45. > :10:48.minutes ago when things looked less favourable for Skupski and Broady,

:10:49. > :10:55.but now there is a more peaceful, easy feeling around the place. But

:10:56. > :11:01.there is work to be done, still. They have a break of serve in the

:11:02. > :11:06.final set. And the last game, as Skupski served, you was a break

:11:07. > :11:11.point down, he started off so well -- he was a break point down, and

:11:12. > :11:24.suddenly got very tense on his service game. He really needs some

:11:25. > :11:27.good solid first serves. Five aces already from the British

:11:28. > :11:28.partnership, one or two more would be welcome coming here, on Court

:11:29. > :11:57.One. O! Double faults are not welcome. He

:11:58. > :12:03.has a low toss anyway on his serve. He manages to make the ball sizzled

:12:04. > :12:16.through, but it is not quite as reliable on second serves. That

:12:17. > :12:25.isn't coming back! That was a good serve.

:12:26. > :12:38.A bit of luck! I've been thinking to myself, I wish that Skupski would

:12:39. > :12:44.serve to his forehand because that backhand has really been his play,

:12:45. > :13:15.all match. That would have been tricky. It was

:13:16. > :13:25.swirling around, wasn't it? That was the right place, though.

:13:26. > :13:34.That is the one that he has trouble with. The serve close to his body.

:13:35. > :13:55.He didn't want that ball. Deuce. That is what sometimes

:13:56. > :14:14.happens when the opponents change what you are looking at, suddenly,

:14:15. > :14:19.Mergea stayed back. Well, you won't get a more straightforward volley!

:14:20. > :14:32.It wasn't coming at him with any speed, it was a good height.

:14:33. > :14:55.A lot of pressure on him now. That first serve missed by miles. Living

:14:56. > :15:11.on the edge. She has been returning pretty well.

:15:12. > :16:07.The crowd are doing their best to bring out the best in Neal Skupski.

:16:08. > :16:56.A beautiful serve. I knew that he was serving almost

:16:57. > :17:01.down the centre on the ad court, but there were a few too many on the

:17:02. > :17:05.backhand side when the other guy has such a good backhand return. He

:17:06. > :17:09.needs to settle down and make them work for this game. The British pair

:17:10. > :17:13.have to stay in this game. They don't want to give away easy points

:17:14. > :17:23.like that. That was a poor return from congenial Mac. --, Neal.

:17:24. > :17:37.Well played! Absolute beast of a backhand from Broady. I think her

:17:38. > :17:59.partner might have to let her do a bit more of the work here!

:18:00. > :18:10.I thought she would go to Naomi's forehand, after facing that backhand

:18:11. > :18:26.in the previous one. It is going a little too quickly for Svitolina.

:18:27. > :18:37.The British pair are still leading by one break of serve in the

:18:38. > :18:42.deciding set. In inner-city Lena and Florin Mergea, from the Ukraine and

:18:43. > :18:48.Romania respectively, still maintaining an interest in this

:18:49. > :18:52.match but they have it all to do. It's a case of Broady and Skupski

:18:53. > :19:00.holding their nerve and seeing this through to its successful conclusion

:19:01. > :19:06.now. As we all know, it is that much harder to be convincing at the end

:19:07. > :19:21.of the match. Usually. A bit of pressure on you. Right at the top of

:19:22. > :19:33.the hill. Magnificent views from there. A lovely environment. Naomi

:19:34. > :19:41.needs to take time. A bit of shadow creeping the court. -- creeping onto

:19:42. > :19:49.the court. It would help if they could get the match over before the

:19:50. > :19:56.shadow comes. Good play from Naomi Brawdy. -- from Naomi Broady. She's

:19:57. > :20:19.holding the team together at the moment. She needs Neal Skupski to

:20:20. > :20:24.help her out. 107 mph on the ace from Broady! A clean ace right at

:20:25. > :21:21.the other player. A beautiful second serve. That is a

:21:22. > :21:26.good service game! One game away from the wind! -- one game away from

:21:27. > :21:45.the victory! Mergea to serve to stay in it. Last

:21:46. > :21:49.time, you lost his serve to love. That's a good return by Skupski. --

:21:50. > :22:08.he lost his serve to love. Two points away. That is out. Three

:22:09. > :22:55.match points! What a shame. Those were two of the

:22:56. > :23:21.most magnificent ferocious backhands.

:23:22. > :23:33.He just needed to play the ball back deep. Still match point. Broady

:23:34. > :24:02.doing her best to get the crowd behind them. Got to keep it a little

:24:03. > :24:13.simple. What a pick-up! UMPIRE: Ms Svitolina challenging the call on

:24:14. > :24:17.the baseline. It was in! You've got to stay calm. They won't get a

:24:18. > :24:27.replay because they got their rackets on it. It is again a late

:24:28. > :24:35.call. They have to stay calm and focused. I don't think the umpire is

:24:36. > :24:40.going to change his mind. I was looking at you before the ball

:24:41. > :24:49.reached the net. That doesn't mean anything. Deuce. This was the

:24:50. > :25:06.overhead by Svitolina. It was clearly in. Now they've got another

:25:07. > :25:19.chance. Match point number four! They get harder and harder to win.

:25:20. > :25:35.The first one, what a chance they had on it.

:25:36. > :25:43.Another double faults! Mergea feeling the pressure. Match point

:25:44. > :26:02.number five! Just putting everything into it. Not

:26:03. > :26:16.the hardest serve but a really deep, solid one.

:26:17. > :26:30.Another opportunity to finish it off. The last two serves to Naomi

:26:31. > :26:34.have been bullets. Can he go for another one? Maybe he can. So

:26:35. > :27:10.infuriated. She will win this point, it's always

:27:11. > :27:19.the way. No, she want. It looks as if it's in. It is golden, Skupski

:27:20. > :27:28.thinks it was out. Hawk-Eye will adjudicate. -- it is called in. And

:27:29. > :27:36.Skupski was right! It seemed very wide! A little whisper to his

:27:37. > :27:44.partner. Mergea. Which way is he going to serve? Probably done the T,

:27:45. > :28:08.this time. Oh. That one bounced before it found the net.

:28:09. > :28:20.I think that cry came from Naomi, get there, you did get there, but

:28:21. > :28:44.somebody else was ready. -- he did get there. Absolutely brilliant

:28:45. > :29:20.bright! -- absolutely brilliant point!

:29:21. > :29:23.-- that was mishit. A tricky shot. If Broady and Skupski do not win

:29:24. > :29:44.this game it is going to be tough to hold. A double fault. Deuce and

:29:45. > :29:46.seven. -- deuce number seven. One hour and 52 minutes, this game has

:29:47. > :30:49.been eight minutes long. Great theatre out here. Just some

:30:50. > :32:03.fabulous tennis. UMPIRE: Thank you. Skupski had to do something to try

:32:04. > :32:37.to help his partner after that good return.

:32:38. > :32:50.That came so close. With eight match points. And now after the change of

:32:51. > :33:02.ends, they will have to try to serve it out at five games to format in

:33:03. > :33:09.the final set. -- five games to four. That was pretty exciting

:33:10. > :33:15.stuff. That very first match point was still the one that got away from

:33:16. > :33:25.them will stop a couple of magnificent returns of backhand from

:33:26. > :33:33.Naomi. That 16 stroke rally, what I think was match point number seven,

:33:34. > :33:37.was extraordinary. They have got to very much regroup here and Skupski

:33:38. > :33:52.has been having a little problem on his serve. First point is vital.

:33:53. > :33:54.CHEERING They are trying to get the crowd up

:33:55. > :34:27.but you also have to stay calm. There has been quite a pattern of

:34:28. > :34:42.him trying to nail it at Naomi. He could not get any angle on it.

:34:43. > :35:00.Now there is danger. Neal Skupski desperately needs his first serve to

:35:01. > :35:13.return. Xu very awkward shots Naomi has had

:35:14. > :35:27.to deal with. She needs her partner to help out with that big serve.

:35:28. > :35:48.Another awkward one. Well played. He let out a sigh of relief which told

:35:49. > :35:58.us a lot. That first serve finding the target

:35:59. > :36:19.at last. That will do. That is another big

:36:20. > :36:25.serve from Skupski. 117 mph. At point number nine. -- match point

:36:26. > :37:08.number nine. Can you believe that? It looks like

:37:09. > :37:10.a winner. She flicks it at the very last minute. What a stretch from

:37:11. > :38:02.her. APPLAUSE

:38:03. > :38:07.That was such a difficult shot. It was a bit of a mishit. She might

:38:08. > :38:19.have felt Skupski right behind her. It found the court and Skupski let

:38:20. > :38:55.it go, it was in. That is a great serve on the British

:38:56. > :39:08.pair are showing great character here. What an experience for them.

:39:09. > :39:08.Take your time. Neal Skupski from Liverpool, Naomi Broady from

:39:09. > :39:21.Stockport. APPLAUSE

:39:22. > :40:00.Really coming out with some huge service. Match point number 11.

:40:01. > :40:15.They have done it, at last! On the 11th match point. Relief all round

:40:16. > :40:30.Court One. APPLAUSE

:40:31. > :41:15.CHEERING Unbelievable drama. A Mixed Doubles

:41:16. > :41:25.match which had a bit of everything. Comedy at times, tension all the way

:41:26. > :41:33.through. Great relief at the end. Svitolina and Mergea have played

:41:34. > :41:44.their part. But it was the results that the Court One crowd craved in

:41:45. > :41:49.the end. Absolutely brilliant. It could so easily have dribbled over,

:41:50. > :41:50.that last ball, it is so funny, looking at them, they are so high

:41:51. > :42:05.with excitement. What is that all doing there?

:42:06. > :42:09.LAUGHTER Neal Skupski so lost in the moment,

:42:10. > :42:20.he did not even throw the ball into the crowd, he is going to have

:42:21. > :42:23.another go! A souvenir for somebody. Absolutely thrilling Mixed Doubles

:42:24. > :42:37.match. This is a Wimbledon that Naomi

:42:38. > :42:44.Broady in particular will never forget. The first round singles

:42:45. > :42:47.victory and then the match with Caroline Wozniacki and Court Number

:42:48. > :42:54.One which she eventually lost but this is the one that will probably

:42:55. > :43:02.stick in her mind. Two hours and two minutes. 11 match points until they

:43:03. > :43:06.finally got over the finishing line. And not often you see this at the

:43:07. > :43:11.end of a Mixed Doubles match at Wimbledon. A line of eager autograph

:43:12. > :43:25.hunters. Waiting for a scribble from Neal Skupski and Naomi Broady. The

:43:26. > :43:30.24-year-old pair from Great Britain. Fabulous entertainment out here.

:43:31. > :43:41.Just thrilling. The tennis was so stimulating. There was a quiet stage

:43:42. > :43:50.at the beginning of the third set but the excitement just grew and

:43:51. > :44:06.grew. Good idea! Absolutely! Got to find the right button for the

:44:07. > :44:12.cell-free. -- selfie. Neal Skupski making sure everyone gets what they

:44:13. > :44:25.want. Pictures and autographs all round.

:44:26. > :44:34.Excellent entertainment all round. I am not sure that everybody expected

:44:35. > :44:38.it to be quite that good, this Mixed Doubles third round match. But it

:44:39. > :45:03.was absolutely captivating. You have done the north-west of

:45:04. > :45:07.England proud, that was great entertainment for the crowd as well.

:45:08. > :45:12.You can see by the look on your face is how much you enjoyed it. Could

:45:13. > :45:22.you quite believe it how it unfolded? We were not playing any

:45:23. > :45:30.worse at the end of the match. I can't hardly speak! We thought the

:45:31. > :45:41.last one would... My adrenaline is so I! -- so high. We took one point

:45:42. > :45:47.at a time and we finally got there in the end. That incredible winner,

:45:48. > :45:56.when that is happening, do you think that maybe it was not going to be

:45:57. > :46:01.your day? I was starting to think in that game, we are going to have to

:46:02. > :46:09.regroup ourselves when it is 5-5 and get back but he served it out. My

:46:10. > :46:14.boy! The whole crowd were into it. Fantastic. Great for British tennis.

:46:15. > :46:20.You have got a bit of business still to do. We are in the quarterfinals

:46:21. > :46:29.which is unbelievable. We are going to take it one step at a time. Our

:46:30. > :46:35.next match will be a tough one. We will see what we can do. If you play

:46:36. > :46:40.like you did today, you have nothing to fear, and I am sure the key to it

:46:41. > :46:51.is to enjoy it as you have. We normally enjoy it. It was good fun

:46:52. > :46:55.and there today, we did not play our best and we know we can do a lot

:46:56. > :47:02.better. We are a wild card so there is no pressure on us. Thank you for

:47:03. > :47:10.the entertainment. I am glad you were well entertained! SUE BARKER:

:47:11. > :47:14.what a finish to the match. They got a wild card into the Championships.

:47:15. > :47:18.They beat the ninth seeds earlier in the tournament and now they find

:47:19. > :47:23.themselves into the quarterfinals. What a point to finish it on. Wow.

:47:24. > :47:31.What a story. Wonderful. Lovely to see. Such emotion and Court One and

:47:32. > :47:38.a real thrill for British tennis. Well done. Everyone enjoying it out

:47:39. > :47:43.on Court Number One and everyone enjoying it out on the hill as well.

:47:44. > :47:47.For those of you joining us from BBC1 expecting to see the match on

:47:48. > :47:51.Centre Court, we did stay live there and Court One to see the conclusion

:47:52. > :47:54.of that match but we can now go back to Centre Court and you will not

:47:55. > :47:56.have missed a thing because we are going to pick it up where we left

:47:57. > :48:33.it. COMMENTATOR: They were both about

:48:34. > :48:37.six inches away from each other. Jamie Murray just closing that down.

:48:38. > :48:41.CHUCKLES Hoping he would hit his racket. He

:48:42. > :48:56.hit his noggin instead I think! She will be disappointed with that

:48:57. > :49:57.one. Oh yes. Great hands with Jamie

:49:58. > :50:50.Murray. RHYTHMIC CLAPPING That was a good move. Exactly. And

:50:51. > :50:55.it is about time really. It has been too static for too long. He has not

:50:56. > :51:34.been influencing play enough. He has not been in the rally.

:51:35. > :51:44.Again, the move that was perfectly timed. Of course, it is so nice,

:51:45. > :51:48.when you are struggling to hold serve, if your partner can help you

:51:49. > :51:49.out at the net and get you a couple of cheap points. Those lightning

:51:50. > :52:12.quick wee flexes. -- reflexes. A lot of people like Peter will be

:52:13. > :52:17.thinking that is unlucky because it just moved a couple of inches but

:52:18. > :52:30.without the move, she would not miss it. Good play by Tecau.

:52:31. > :52:38.Murray does not miss many of those. I watched him practice. Specific

:52:39. > :52:41.double drills. He stands very close to the net and get his coach to

:52:42. > :52:47.fireballs at him as quickly as he can.

:52:48. > :52:59.He keeps those wee flexes in tiptop shape. -- reflexes. He often

:53:00. > :53:10.practices here at the club with his partner.

:53:11. > :53:39.Shots like this are important... OK, she won the point, but even if she

:53:40. > :53:43.hadn't, they are important to send a message to Jamie Murray. I am

:53:44. > :54:01.watching you! CHUCKLES Superb serve. Nice variation. A fair

:54:02. > :54:21.bit of tennis at the championship so far,.

:54:22. > :54:52.At least one of those overheads could have gone anywhere, he could

:54:53. > :55:03.have hit it anywhere but at him. That was a volley.

:55:04. > :55:10.Three in a row, terrific. You should get a bonus point for that at the

:55:11. > :55:17.very least! They have really enjoyed themselves and I think that is a

:55:18. > :55:23.real feature of the Mixed Doubles. Always smiling and laughing and

:55:24. > :55:28.joking and enjoying themselves. The crowd really get drawn to it as

:55:29. > :55:35.well. Very much a tradition here at the Championships. Always well

:55:36. > :55:38.supported. If you are an established doubles team and you play every week

:55:39. > :55:46.of the year, it is work. That is their career. But they come and play

:55:47. > :55:54.at most, four times a year but it is not normally even that. This is a

:55:55. > :56:22.little more of a division. -- diversion.

:56:23. > :56:30.That return is very underrated. In this day and age when so many of the

:56:31. > :56:37.players get so tight on the net. Just throw that up over the backhand

:56:38. > :56:40.wing, especially in a Mixed Doubles, when a woman is serving and

:56:41. > :56:53.suddenly, you are dominating the rally.

:56:54. > :56:58.Two signals there from the play at the net, the first is where he wants

:56:59. > :57:02.the serve to go on the second is where he is going to move but

:57:03. > :57:03.sometimes it can be a bit of a distraction between serves as it was

:57:04. > :57:35.there. Exactly Jason. You talk about a

:57:36. > :57:39.distraction, if I had somebody signalling me before my second

:57:40. > :57:42.serve, the first time he did it, I would be, no, this is not the way it

:57:43. > :57:52.is going to work! Second serve, you are just going to

:57:53. > :57:53.react, do what you like, what you feel, don't be telling me what to do

:57:54. > :58:07.every second! I spoke to a former Wimbledon

:58:08. > :58:12.champion the other day and she said that would be most off-putting. She

:58:13. > :58:15.wanted to make the decision as to where it she was going to serve, and

:58:16. > :58:21.not have the player at the net telling her. Exactly, because you

:58:22. > :58:22.know what feels good. You can feel the way the return is reacting to

:58:23. > :58:37.the serve. Nice movement through the volley.

:58:38. > :58:43.Good penetration and that shot as a result. They can sense now that

:58:44. > :58:47.perhaps they have gained good use of momentum. Have an opportunity to

:58:48. > :59:26.really assert their authority. That second serve has been a little

:59:27. > :59:35.bit of a liability for Mirza. Murray and Dellacqua have really combined

:59:36. > :59:41.beautifully. We often talk about momentum being key, as far as any

:59:42. > :59:42.sporting contest is concerned. Very much in Murray and Dellacqua's

:59:43. > :01:03.favour now. prevailed here they will play Max

:01:04. > :01:10.many and Chan Ho sing, the 14th seats. -- of course, if Murray and

:01:11. > :01:20.Dellacqua prevail, they will play the 14th seeds. Max has been around

:01:21. > :01:40.for a long time. A very good doubles exponent. The top seeds were beaten

:01:41. > :01:52.in the second round. And excellent game. -- and excellent

:01:53. > :02:10.game. Peter, you said earlier that players

:02:11. > :02:17.don't get an opportunity to play with a regular partner often in the

:02:18. > :02:23.Mixed Doubles, but having said that, Murray and Dellacqua on a really

:02:24. > :02:27.good combination. Absolutely, Casey Dellacqua with a really good feel

:02:28. > :02:31.for doubles, follies, and what to do. Setting up Jamie so well,

:02:32. > :02:37.putting the ball in positions that allowed him to use his quickness, to

:02:38. > :02:43.move around. I would have thought that we would see these two playing

:02:44. > :02:51.together again in the future. Of course, time will tell. If they lose

:02:52. > :02:54.this much they might have above thoughts! Michael Parkinson,

:02:55. > :02:59.enjoying the tennis in the Royal box. It's always nice to come out

:03:00. > :03:04.this time in the evening and watch them doubles or Mixed Doubles. It is

:03:05. > :03:06.not quite as intense as the singles, and is perhaps a little

:03:07. > :04:04.more enjoyable as a result. Anticipation so good from Jamie

:04:05. > :04:08.Murray coming he was running before Sania Mirza had even contact with

:04:09. > :04:35.the ball. He really has read the game so well this afternoon.

:04:36. > :04:58.They will try to wipe that one from the memory bank.

:04:59. > :05:04.Sometimes when you are for-1 down it feels you have a mountain to climb

:05:05. > :05:08.but you have to keep telling yourself, just the one break, is of

:05:09. > :05:13.crucial they keep getting a hold. That should keep them in the hunt.

:05:14. > :06:02.-- it is crucial that they keep getting a hold.

:06:03. > :06:22.Surfing to the body and moving right is the call. Good service game,

:06:23. > :06:23.that. Of course it is Murray and Dellacqua very much still hold the

:06:24. > :07:08.upper hand. Checked a little of the line and of

:07:09. > :07:11.course there's that horrible shadow now, very difficult for the return,

:07:12. > :07:26.the ball passing through the sunshine into the shade.

:07:27. > :07:36.Perhaps more difficult for Murray and Dellacqua, for both of them.

:07:37. > :07:46.Serving left handed, looking right into the sun, at this hour. Jamie

:07:47. > :07:48.has come prepared, with his shades. And his hat, and also he is serving

:07:49. > :08:03.on the good side! Nicely done. All right, a chance for them to get

:08:04. > :09:19.back into this second set. A well played point by Casey

:09:20. > :09:23.Dellacqua. Second serve was very deep. The ground stroke also. Just

:09:24. > :09:42.millimetres over the net. It has been a real feature of this

:09:43. > :09:46.much, ability at the net. The ability to anticipate supremely

:09:47. > :09:57.well. So tough to get the ball past him. Just stands in the middle and

:09:58. > :10:05.he can go left or right. He's like an octopus and Annette! LAUGHTER

:10:06. > :10:10.. -- he is like an octopus at the net.

:10:11. > :10:30.Deft touch. And I love the thought that Dellacqua and Murray

:10:31. > :10:34.off-putting to the much, that last shot was a really good example, a

:10:35. > :10:40.lot of players would have looked to hit the cover of players would have

:10:41. > :10:45.looked to hit the cover off the, a weighted lob would do the damage.

:10:46. > :10:54.Absolutely. She made it look easy. That shot was anything but. To take

:10:55. > :11:04.a heavily driven ball and take the pace off it. Not at all a simple

:11:05. > :11:14.shot. It's a stunning evening in as W 19. -- in SWR 19. Centre Court is

:11:15. > :11:19.most packed. The Mixed Doubles, the last matches of the day, always so

:11:20. > :11:23.well supported on the show courts. They've really enjoyed themselves

:11:24. > :11:31.this afternoon. Murray and Dellacqua have been quite superb. Now they are

:11:32. > :11:48.just one game away from victory. Another example of Tecau looking to

:11:49. > :11:52.cross but not able to do so. That has never been the case as far as

:11:53. > :11:56.Murray is concerned. That has been the fundamental difference, for me,

:11:57. > :11:59.the ability of Jamie Murray to assert himself, especially in the

:12:00. > :12:19.forecourt. That has made a big difference.

:12:20. > :12:31.Shame! Another rally full of good things from all concerned. Great

:12:32. > :13:08.hands this time from Tecau. Oops! Pummelling those forehands! He just

:13:09. > :13:19.fancied a move to the middle and she outfoxed him.

:13:20. > :13:28.Has Tecau done enough in this much for you, Peter, as far as their team

:13:29. > :13:31.is concerned? No. I think the difference has been Murray's

:13:32. > :14:09.superiority over Tecau. So this is the moment of truth as

:14:10. > :14:39.far as the number ten seeds are concerned.

:14:40. > :15:00.Hit that ball up the middle. Had to know that Murray was lying in wait.

:15:01. > :15:06.The way that Jamie Murray has served this afternoon and he's been backed

:15:07. > :15:10.up beautifully by Casey Dellacqua. Absolutely, she's terrific at the

:15:11. > :15:26.volley. Very few unforced errors at the net.

:15:27. > :16:00.Sania Mirza going for the knockout blow, but it wasn't to be. Jamie

:16:01. > :16:05.Murray and Casey Dellacqua are safely through to the quarterfinals

:16:06. > :16:13.at Wimbledon. A fantastic performance. Combined beautifully

:16:14. > :16:19.throughout. Excelled towards the end of the first to set and carried that

:16:20. > :16:23.form into the second set. And they thoroughly enjoyed themselves

:16:24. > :16:29.throughout the afternoon, as did the fans. Highly entertaining. They can

:16:30. > :16:38.go in this tournament if they continue to play that well.

:16:39. > :16:41.Absolutely, superb. Murray was spectacular and Dellacqua solid as a

:16:42. > :16:45.rock, she really made very few unforced errors and she played

:16:46. > :16:50.suitably thick ground strokes. She is a good doubles player. A good

:16:51. > :16:54.tennis player all around. They were just too strong. Sania Mirza came up

:16:55. > :17:00.with a bunch of spectacular forehand shots. I guess that she and stick

:17:01. > :17:07.out just did not quite measures well as the other pair. -- she and Tecau.

:17:08. > :17:12.And so nice to get the chance to come out on Centre Court, play your

:17:13. > :17:18.trade, you always hope that it will mean that they will be inspired, and

:17:19. > :17:23.that's what we saw this afternoon, they really seemed to enjoy playing

:17:24. > :17:29.with each other, enjoying the experience, they've got a lot of

:17:30. > :17:34.support from the crowd, the opponents played their part, but

:17:35. > :17:40.Horia Tecau not as effective enough, especially at the Netcom he did not

:17:41. > :17:44.really assert his authority. -- especially at the net. He allowed

:17:45. > :17:48.Jamie Murray to dominate coming he was the star bus afternoon. And he

:17:49. > :17:53.will fancy his chances of claiming a second Mixed Doubles title at

:17:54. > :17:58.Wimbledon, if they can keep that rich vein of form in the remaining

:17:59. > :18:09.matches this week because he was the champion here back in 27 with yellow

:18:10. > :18:13.Jankovic. -- with yellow Jankovic. Always nice for Jamie Murray as well

:18:14. > :18:27.to get a bit of time in the spotlight. So often it is his

:18:28. > :18:32.brother, Andy. Not this year. Casey Dellacqua is done as far as the

:18:33. > :18:46.women's singles and the doubles are concerned but still has high hopes

:18:47. > :18:49.of adding to her tournament tally. There may still be additional tennis

:18:50. > :18:52.for those lucky enough to have tickets this evening, the referee

:18:53. > :18:59.might fancy his chances of putting on another match. It has been

:19:00. > :19:06.announced, another match. I could not hear it, though. You have to

:19:07. > :19:12.keep an eye on the order of play in the evening when they make those

:19:13. > :19:16.announcements. We are all done as far as the Mixed Doubles is

:19:17. > :19:24.concerned. Murray and Dellacqua through in straight sets, 7-5, 6-3.

:19:25. > :19:28.Here they are. Jamie, Casey, congratulations, straight sets win

:19:29. > :19:33.but sometimes the scoreline does not tell the story, in part it was hard

:19:34. > :19:38.work. Absolutely. It's pretty tough out there. I do my best to return

:19:39. > :19:42.the guy's serve and do my part and Jamie does the rest, pretty much, he

:19:43. > :19:47.played great today, it was great to have a win against a very good team.

:19:48. > :19:54.Jamie, the crowd on your side, it must be a big help. Brilliant, great

:19:55. > :19:59.to play in pretty much full stadium, it was an entertaining match, is an

:20:00. > :20:01.entertaining match, some exciting values and the crowd behind us,

:20:02. > :20:06.hopefully they will be there for the next match. It must help having a

:20:07. > :20:09.Murray on your team at Wimbledon. Definitely, playing with a Brit,

:20:10. > :20:14.we've had good support so I will take that any day. Jamie, we are

:20:15. > :20:19.relying on you for British success at Wimbledon. I will try matter

:20:20. > :20:23.rest, low-pressure! And your mother will be watching, and it was a bit

:20:24. > :20:27.annoyed by the fact that she was watching you all through the

:20:28. > :20:32.tournament. Maybe, but I think that was the first much she missed the

:20:33. > :20:37.years. She will be here tomorrow, I think. Congratulations on making the

:20:38. > :20:43.next round, we wish you the very best of luck. Thank you. SUE BARKER:

:20:44. > :20:47.I am sure she will be very proud of Jamie getting through to the last

:20:48. > :20:51.eight. This British-Aussie pair, impressive, great to see Jamie

:20:52. > :20:56.winning on Centre Court and just missing that ball, he won the title

:20:57. > :21:00.here back in 2007. What a good hour for British tennis, Jamie is through

:21:01. > :21:04.and also Naomi Broady and Neal Skupski through to the quarterfinals

:21:05. > :21:10.in the Mixed Doubles. They'll all be on court again tomorrow. That

:21:11. > :21:15.happened a short time ago on the Centre Court. There's a lot

:21:16. > :21:20.happening here at Wimbledon. On the roof of our broadcast Centre, John

:21:21. > :21:25.McEnroe and Tim Henman are there, they are hosting love six on radio

:21:26. > :21:30.live. If you want to call and ask them a difficult question, the

:21:31. > :21:35.number is oh 500, 909. It's an enjoyable part of Wimbledon, this

:21:36. > :21:44.team, so if you want to give them a call you've got ten minutes to go.

:21:45. > :22:01.Today it was the lady 's semifinals, tomorrow the men are in action.

:22:02. > :22:21.not the semifinals we would have expected at the start of the

:22:22. > :22:25.tournament, but the number one seed is there. Djokovic, the 2011

:22:26. > :22:31.champion, against a Grigor Dimitrov, who conquered Andy Murray yesterday,

:22:32. > :22:33.and Roger Federer looking for his eighth Wimbledon title against the

:22:34. > :22:38.big serving Canadian, the number eight seed Milos Raonic. John Lloyd

:22:39. > :22:45.is with me to talk about this. First, Dimitrov and Murray

:22:46. > :22:49.yesterday. A wonderful confident breathtaking performance from

:22:50. > :22:54.Dimitrov. What did you make of Andy Murray? A poorer performance, to be

:22:55. > :22:58.honest, mentally. You can have bad days, seven matches to win a Grand

:22:59. > :23:03.Slam, sometimes you wake up and the game isn't there, you aren't timing

:23:04. > :23:08.the ball right, but champions bluff their way through or at least tried

:23:09. > :23:10.to bluff their way through. He played a very good opponent

:23:11. > :23:17.yesterday. He might not have won anyway. To me, it was back to his

:23:18. > :23:22.days before Ivan Lendl, at times, when he was looking at the box and

:23:23. > :23:26.his body language was poor. I think that in those circumstances, playing

:23:27. > :23:30.against some like Dimitrov who had not been to the semifinal and was

:23:31. > :23:35.obviously nervous because he was nervous when he was up a break, that

:23:36. > :23:38.is experience, even if you are not playing well, you bluff it and you

:23:39. > :23:41.look like the winner and he did not look like that for the whole match

:23:42. > :23:46.and for me it was a disappointing way for the defending champion to go

:23:47. > :23:51.out. That second set tie-break, if he had got a film or points he could

:23:52. > :23:54.have turned the match around. Maybe. For me, the second set went a bit

:23:55. > :24:00.too quickly after those break points and the third set the thing. Murray

:24:01. > :24:04.is a great fighter and we have seen him coming back from two sets down,

:24:05. > :24:08.he should have still been in it but early in the third you looked at him

:24:09. > :24:12.and realised he wasn't. That was the big surprise. I was baffled by it

:24:13. > :24:15.because in his first week at Wimbledon, he was magnificent. He

:24:16. > :24:21.was playing better than last year. His attitude was great. He went up a

:24:22. > :24:25.step and his opponent was a class above them in the first week but he

:24:26. > :24:30.played some good players and looked fantastic. I was surprised, the way

:24:31. > :24:34.it went. It can happen when a player is playing so well. You start

:24:35. > :24:39.doubting yourself. You might, but again, I look back at some of the

:24:40. > :24:45.great players, they wouldn't have shown that. They would have put on

:24:46. > :24:50.an air of invincibility, even when losing, to look at their opponent,

:24:51. > :24:57.as if to say, you still have to beat me. In many ways, mentally, Murray

:24:58. > :24:59.beat himself. Taking nothing away from the Dimitrov victory, a

:25:00. > :25:03.wonderful performance from him, we've talked about him is a big star

:25:04. > :25:08.of the future, a potential champion, he said an amazing performance,

:25:09. > :25:13.beating Murray. After the match he spoke to John in the dale. Why do

:25:14. > :25:20.you want it so much more now than 12 months ago? I've realised a lot of

:25:21. > :25:28.things. Throughout all of the years that I have been practising at

:25:29. > :25:32.certain academies, or the changing of the court, there's been a lot of

:25:33. > :25:40.bounce from me but I never let myself down for a second. I've

:25:41. > :25:47.always been a believer, and wanted to reach my potential. I think at

:25:48. > :25:57.some point I really realised that others believed I needed to change a

:25:58. > :26:01.lot of things to succeed. We've got a lot of good things that are

:26:02. > :26:08.definitely in place. It's working, so far. The British public will of

:26:09. > :26:12.first -- will first have seen you at Queen's Club for five years ago when

:26:13. > :26:16.you were interviewed and said you wanted to be in a Grand Slam final

:26:17. > :26:20.and play the big guys. And now you are on the eve of playing Djokovic

:26:21. > :26:28.in the Wimbledon semifinal. How does that sound? Exactly how I imagined

:26:29. > :26:37.it! I live for those moments. I compete for that. I have done the

:26:38. > :26:42.work. I can say that I'm happily rewarded to be in that position

:26:43. > :26:46.right now. I don't want to end things now. I have bigger goals,

:26:47. > :26:55.bigger potential. And still a lot of homework to be done. Playing Novak

:26:56. > :27:02.Djokovic is an awesome feeling. Are you remotely daunted by the

:27:03. > :27:06.prospect? No. Pretty simple, trying to enjoy today, tomorrow going to

:27:07. > :27:12.get on the court, go through my regular years and come back on

:27:13. > :27:16.Friday. People are equating you with the way that Nick Kyrgios played,

:27:17. > :27:23.that fearless way of playing. Is that how you feel? I would not say

:27:24. > :27:29.that my game at the moment is, what the hell, let's just play... I have

:27:30. > :27:36.done a lot of work and different things in order to get here, so to

:27:37. > :27:44.me it is not a one-time thing. Whatever else is going to come up,

:27:45. > :27:47.we need to sustain that level. That means you have to play every week at

:27:48. > :27:50.your highest and have good achievements throughout the whole

:27:51. > :27:56.year. And then you can say to yourself, you know what, I've made a

:27:57. > :28:01.good impact, and you can surely see the differences afterwards. What

:28:02. > :28:06.areas of the match with Novak Djokovic? Where will it be won or

:28:07. > :28:12.lost? I have to be as composed as possible. Today was a good example

:28:13. > :28:16.that I could do it in straight sets, for 2am sure against Novak Novak

:28:17. > :28:23.jogger Vic, he will never give you a chance to breathe so I will need to

:28:24. > :28:28.use every opportunity I have and see how the match will go. -- against

:28:29. > :28:37.Novak jogger Vic. It is tough to talk about it now, I will see how

:28:38. > :28:49.the day will go. Day you think about Sunday? Of course! -- do you think

:28:50. > :28:52.about it? It is my goal. SUE BARKER: Confident and rightly so, what a

:28:53. > :28:57.performance, we saw it at Queen's Club he has been improving year

:28:58. > :29:01.after year and now he believes. He's fantastic. I love watching him play.

:29:02. > :29:05.He doesn't like to be compared with Federer but I am going to again

:29:06. > :29:10.because when he's out there, and everything is flowing, the

:29:11. > :29:14.imagination he has reminds me of Roger. He will go for shots and just

:29:15. > :29:17.take it and you will say, that's not possible. That is what used to

:29:18. > :29:25.happen with Roger and still does. He's a joy. He gets the off court

:29:26. > :29:34.thing. He's great. I think he is a joy to watch. He's on his way. I

:29:35. > :29:39.don't agree that he is only at 25%. He's not the complete player yet but

:29:40. > :29:41.is almost there and this might be the tournament where everything

:29:42. > :29:45.comes together. It certainly looks like that at the moment. It will be

:29:46. > :29:50.a whole different match for him tomorrow. He will come up against

:29:51. > :29:55.someone tomorrow will come at him the whole time with no lapses

:29:56. > :29:58.mentally. Djokovic will be coming for him for four sets, five if

:29:59. > :30:02.necessary and he'll have to keep up this level for a long time to beat

:30:03. > :30:08.Novak Djokovic. He can do it but it's one step up again tomorrow so

:30:09. > :30:12.it will be fascinating. Time to look at Dimitrov's opponent, job Wood. A

:30:13. > :30:16.couple of days ago he dropped in for a chat. I asked him how it was

:30:17. > :30:25.working out with his coach, Boris Becker. Of course he's a legend of

:30:26. > :30:47.the sport and I'm glad to have him on board as head coach.

:30:48. > :30:52.understand each other and we have lots of fun off the court. We watch

:30:53. > :30:57.some football games this ten days as I think all the world does. And

:30:58. > :31:03.trying to get as far as we can in this tournament. When you talk about

:31:04. > :31:08.Serbia last time, a very proud Serbian, tell us about the

:31:09. > :31:15.foundation you run in Serbia for the kids and make them dream big. This

:31:16. > :31:22.foundation has been founded in 2007 but in 2011, we chose our mission.

:31:23. > :31:29.And direction in which we want to go, and that is to support kids's

:31:30. > :31:32.education. Mostly in the preschool education because there is

:31:33. > :31:39.unfortunately a very high percentage of kids not going to the

:31:40. > :31:44.kindergarten and this is not the matter of financial problem, it is

:31:45. > :31:49.just a matter of awareness. In our country, the culture and awareness

:31:50. > :31:52.is different in terms of kindergarten, parents would rather

:31:53. > :31:55.choose to have their kids stay at home with their grandparents and not

:31:56. > :31:59.send them to the institution which can actually help their development

:32:00. > :32:05.in these early stages of their lives. We try to spread awareness.

:32:06. > :32:10.We tried to reconstruct and renovate many kindergartens that have been

:32:11. > :32:15.affected eye natural disasters like the recent one we had, the big

:32:16. > :32:19.floods. We are fighting for their education because we believe that

:32:20. > :32:23.with a proper education, every kid has an opportunity to dream and

:32:24. > :32:27.options to choose in their lives what they want to do. You have

:32:28. > :32:29.talked to passionately about your family and the support you have had

:32:30. > :32:41.throughout your career. This lady was a special lady to you.

:32:42. > :32:48.She was a great inspiration to me. She was my tennis mother in a way!

:32:49. > :32:52.She taught me all the basics. These are great pictures. I have not seen

:32:53. > :33:00.this video for a while. It is nice to refresh my memory. I think I was

:33:01. > :33:05.seven or eight years old. Maybe a little less. I was a little bit

:33:06. > :33:11.taller than the net. It was great times. I was very fortunate to be

:33:12. > :33:15.around her because she was one of the most passionate and

:33:16. > :33:22.knowledgeable people in tennis that I have ever met. And worked with.

:33:23. > :33:27.She never managed to have kids, she had 11 brothers and sisters, a big

:33:28. > :33:31.family. She committed herself and dedicated all her life to this

:33:32. > :33:37.board. To be able to spend some time, five, six years next air, at

:33:38. > :33:42.the crucial stage of the early childhood, where you learned these

:33:43. > :33:45.first tennis depth and your behaviour and approach, was great.

:33:46. > :33:50.It was a blessing. I am very thankful for the time I spent with

:33:51. > :33:56.her. She was so proud watching you over the years. Congratulations, you

:33:57. > :34:00.are going to become a dad. Is it true you are going to have to get

:34:01. > :34:08.sensible and get rid of the sports car? I am not too wild with the

:34:09. > :34:12.cars. I have got a two seater now these last few months and I have to

:34:13. > :34:17.say goodbye to all of the sports car is because the family is coming and

:34:18. > :34:23.I will have to rearrange the parking that I have as well!

:34:24. > :34:28.Congratulations. And congratulations so far in the tournament. Good luck.

:34:29. > :34:35.That was Novak Djokovic you came into the studio a couple of days.

:34:36. > :34:40.Before we talk about his last four against Milos Raonic, the footage we

:34:41. > :34:46.saw as a seven-year-old, how talented was that? It was obvious!

:34:47. > :34:52.How good was his forehand? The technique was absolutely perfect. He

:34:53. > :35:00.has kept that forehand as well. He came through in five set against

:35:01. > :35:05.Marin Cilic. It was very difficult how he... He could not move very

:35:06. > :35:16.well and he had to change his shoes after being 2-mac-1 down and all of

:35:17. > :35:19.a sudden it was 2-2. It was funny how he kept changing his shoes and

:35:20. > :35:25.could not find the right one and once he got them, it was easy for

:35:26. > :35:31.him. It is Djokovic against Dimitrov. I am going for Novak. The

:35:32. > :35:37.Boris Becker thing will come in now I think. This is what he was hired

:35:38. > :35:42.for. I believe Novak's record in grand slam finals has not been good

:35:43. > :35:45.recently and I think Boris will get better night and they will go

:35:46. > :35:50.through the plan and it will be very intense tomorrow night. It will be a

:35:51. > :35:54.little bit too much for Grigor Dimitrov. And maybe too much

:35:55. > :35:59.experience as well. We will look ahead to the second semifinal, Roger

:36:00. > :36:06.Federer against Milos Raonic. We have some tennis to bring you later

:36:07. > :36:09.on. Looking around some of the courts, at encore number three is

:36:10. > :36:28.Mark Petchey. I don't think we will take you to him! Over on court

:36:29. > :36:35.number 12, Andrew Castle. There is a former Wimbledon champion out on

:36:36. > :36:40.Centre Court. Martina Hingis is in a Mixed Doubles match. We will just

:36:41. > :36:46.talk with John in the meantime about the other semifinal. Roger Federer

:36:47. > :36:53.up against Milos Raonic. Let's hear from Roger first. I spoke to him

:36:54. > :37:01.late last night. Roger is playing very well. A step nearer. Federer is

:37:02. > :37:08.through to his ninth Wimbledon semifinal. Congratulations. 35th

:37:09. > :37:17.Grand Slam semifinal. How does that sound? It sounds good. Especially

:37:18. > :37:22.after the disappointment last year. It was a good match against Stan, I

:37:23. > :37:27.am happy I made it through. We have the same fitness coach. We spent a

:37:28. > :37:32.lot of time together. There are no secrets out there. We know where the

:37:33. > :37:38.balls are going to go more often than not and it is hard. There are

:37:39. > :37:45.not many Swiss guys around so when you do play that one, it is so much

:37:46. > :37:51.more important, than when perhaps two Spaniards or Americans play

:37:52. > :37:56.against each other. For me, it was very difficult after last year's

:37:57. > :38:00.tough year, that I had with my back, I felt I had to put in extra work to

:38:01. > :38:08.get back to where I wanted to be. I really think I am back at 100% and

:38:09. > :38:11.the results have shown that and it is nice to be compensated for all

:38:12. > :38:15.the hard work you put in because you are never quite sure if it will pay

:38:16. > :38:24.off. We hear you go through about three opponents today. Lets not

:38:25. > :38:30.exaggerate but I do put in the work. I do not need to talk about it. I do

:38:31. > :38:39.believe I worked as much as I can, possibly that I don't get injured, I

:38:40. > :38:43.do not over train. Grand Slams are what it is all about. Being at the

:38:44. > :38:49.business end of the Grand Slams is special. I don't quite agree that it

:38:50. > :38:52.is only about the Grand Slams. Pete Sampras once said that he only cared

:38:53. > :38:56.about the Slams at the end of his career and many people believe it is

:38:57. > :39:01.the same for everybody. It is not for me. I care about them a lot, I

:39:02. > :39:07.love Wimbledon, but there is so much more than just the Slams. I play a

:39:08. > :39:14.full schedule of 18-20 events and only format of them are Grand

:39:15. > :39:22.Slams. I have a different mindset to Pete, who is my hero and I love him,

:39:23. > :39:29.but I love the 250 s, the 500 s and the Grand Slams are just part of

:39:30. > :39:33.that. You are working with Stefan Edberg and it seems to be such a

:39:34. > :39:38.good partnership. I can imagine at dinner you must have such wonderful

:39:39. > :39:42.stories. It is nice spending time with him because him and Boris where

:39:43. > :39:48.my first idols and he rose growing up. I watched him play here on the

:39:49. > :39:52.finals on many occasions when I was in my living room watching tennis.

:39:53. > :39:57.Just bending time with a childhood idol and hero is a big deal. --

:39:58. > :40:06.spending time. He is a super nice guy. Very humble and a pleasure to

:40:07. > :40:11.be around. Talking about the family, congratulations on your twins and

:40:12. > :40:15.now four of them, it must be a busy household. Very busy but we enjoy

:40:16. > :40:23.it, we have always wanted a big family. It came as a bit of a

:40:24. > :40:27.surprise, we were surprised at having twins in the first place and

:40:28. > :40:31.then again, what are the chances? I don't even know. We are very pleased

:40:32. > :40:38.and the boys are doing great and the girls are enjoying... To be able to

:40:39. > :40:46.do it, play tennis and travelling with them. I never thought... It

:40:47. > :40:51.must be more difficult! More challenging. But we are well

:40:52. > :40:55.prepared. COMMENTATOR: He deserves his place in the semifinal. SUE

:40:56. > :41:01.BARKER: we look ahead to the semifinal. Milos Raonic is having

:41:02. > :41:05.the best year of his career. He has been playing well and solid. He has

:41:06. > :41:11.a better seeding now, being in the top eight is a big deal. You avoid

:41:12. > :41:18.bigger guys earlier in the draw. So he has taken care of that. He is a

:41:19. > :41:21.big server, it will always be tie-breaks and difficult matches. He

:41:22. > :41:28.has found a way to win in straight sets, not had too many difficult

:41:29. > :41:32.situations. He deserves to be in the semis, they are his first I think. I

:41:33. > :41:39.have been in many and I hope this experience will help me. I do feel

:41:40. > :41:44.very comfortable on Centre Court. That is usually a court where I can

:41:45. > :41:50.get very nervous. The crowds are amazing. There is always so much on

:41:51. > :41:56.the line when you play at Wimbledon is specially semis, quarterfinals or

:41:57. > :42:00.finals for that matter. I have been there before and I think it helps me

:42:01. > :42:03.to stay calm in those moments. Roger Federer going so well at these

:42:04. > :42:11.championships after the disappointment of last year. He has

:42:12. > :42:14.come through the draw, no one has really talked about him that much,

:42:15. > :42:19.all the focus has been Murray, Djokovic, Nadal. Federer has just

:42:20. > :42:23.been steam-rolling through and he has played magnificently. His serve

:42:24. > :42:30.has been as good as it ever has been. He has defence his chances

:42:31. > :42:35.tomorrow. He was not expecting to play round it. It is a good draw but

:42:36. > :42:47.a tough one. -- he was not expecting to play round itch -- Milos Raonic.

:42:48. > :42:53.If Milos Raonic serves as well as he has been, Federer will have to look

:42:54. > :42:59.at tie-breaks. I think Milos Raonic might have the best serve in the

:43:00. > :43:04.world now. He just serves lines and when they are going in, and they

:43:05. > :43:09.are, you just have to guess. He is a big hitter as well. His demeanour on

:43:10. > :43:14.the court, he is very calm and there. This will be a tough match

:43:15. > :43:19.for Roger. Let's look at the serve in more detail. He has served 147

:43:20. > :43:28.cases so far. The second fastest of the tournament. 141 mph. Look up the

:43:29. > :43:38.placement of it as well. Apparently his coach said that he regularly can

:43:39. > :43:43.serve over 150 miles per hour but he tones it down to 140 because it

:43:44. > :43:46.gives him more control. That is the sort of power he has. It is

:43:47. > :43:50.difficult to get frustrated when you play him because you are just

:43:51. > :43:54.walking side to side and Roger may have to go into tie-break and he

:43:55. > :43:59.might have to accept that. But who knows how that first serve will go.

:44:00. > :44:04.It is his first time in a semifinal in Wimbledon but if he plays the way

:44:05. > :44:08.he is serving at the moment, it will be a tough match for Roger. Roger is

:44:09. > :44:16.used to playing the big servers as well. Exactly. He will change

:44:17. > :44:20.position depending on how it goes. I still think Federer will win

:44:21. > :44:28.tomorrow but it could be a very tough match. I would be surprised if

:44:29. > :44:35.it is easy. John, thank you. Men's semifinals day is tomorrow. We are

:44:36. > :44:37.on the air at 12:30pm on BBC Two. We do have some more tennis for you. We

:44:38. > :45:05.are heading to Centre Court. Chris Noh it is a beautiful evening.

:45:06. > :45:15.-- CHRIS BRADNAM: it is a beautiful evening.

:45:16. > :45:44.Hingis and Soares got off to a flyer.

:45:45. > :45:51.They asked the serving out a question of Daniel Nestor who was

:45:52. > :45:58.broken in his first service game. Liz, you are a Mixed Doubles

:45:59. > :46:02.champion here and eight ladies double champion. It is a lot of fun

:46:03. > :46:06.but when it gets to this stage, quarterfinal, you are looking for

:46:07. > :46:10.the title aren't you? Martina Hingis is not back to make up the numbers.

:46:11. > :46:16.She did a bit of coaching for a while. And she thought, it is the

:46:17. > :46:23.seniors of Wimbledon all the regular tour event and she chose the regular

:46:24. > :46:30.event. And the crowds love it. She is still a phenomenal tennis player.

:46:31. > :46:36.She makes it look so easy. In Mixed Doubles, she can get overpowered but

:46:37. > :46:42.from time to time, when she weaves her magic on the doubles court, it

:46:43. > :46:49.takes you back. It really does. An amazing career. Youngest ever number

:46:50. > :47:03.one at 16 years and six months will -- 16 years and six months.

:47:04. > :47:10.Daniel Nestor broken in his opening service game to give Martina Hingis

:47:11. > :47:19.the lead and then Hingis was broken straightaway.

:47:20. > :47:45.Trouble again, Nestor, stands pretty close to the middle of the doubles.

:47:46. > :48:16.It was in. Wow. Soares acknowledging that it was a missed it. It just

:48:17. > :48:26.drops. It hit the racket twice. No such thing as a double hit any more.

:48:27. > :48:37.Tallest on court, Nestor. Six foot three. He has won 12 majors, eight

:48:38. > :48:43.in doubles and four in mixed. 85 tour events. Amazing. 41 years

:48:44. > :48:59.young. He struggled with his return, the

:49:00. > :49:01.whole match, Soares. You have to be able to make that break point. Or

:49:02. > :49:21.you will be in trouble. This is the return that caused a

:49:22. > :49:57.little bit of confusion. A little bit more communication

:49:58. > :50:10.needed. Hingis went the wrong way for once.

:50:11. > :50:44.Third ace for the team. Nestor's expression never changes.

:50:45. > :51:03.His partner is a little more outgoing and that front.

:51:04. > :51:23.Stunning. Just held it long enough didn't she, Hingis. Waiting for

:51:24. > :51:35.Mladenovic to commit. One of the canniest players of all time.

:51:36. > :51:47.Again, struggling on the return. It is almost like Soares got caught on

:51:48. > :51:50.his grip. When he has time coming here likes to hit over it and when

:51:51. > :52:17.he does not, he likes to bump it back. An opportunity goes begging.

:52:18. > :52:24.Vetting to know each other obviously come up with Hingis making this

:52:25. > :52:36.comeback. They have not played much together.

:52:37. > :52:48.It was a pretty tight set. All of the players struggled a little bit

:52:49. > :53:00.in getting a rhythm. There is a lot at stake here. And

:53:01. > :53:04.they will invariably be a couple of points in a set. That man there

:53:05. > :53:11.certainly finish the set better than he started the set. It is a bit of a

:53:12. > :53:16.journey, Mixed Doubles. They look very relaxed. Good to see them still

:53:17. > :53:23.communicating and Martina looks like she is having a good time. Do you

:53:24. > :53:24.think they are discussing return of serve! Martina, I just cannot make

:53:25. > :53:39.one! Don't worry about it, smile! Maybe she should stay back for the

:53:40. > :53:48.first serve and just lob it up there. You see that quite often, the

:53:49. > :53:54.non-standing on the baseline and then moving in on the second serve.

:53:55. > :54:02.-- the non-returner standing on the baseline. That is a nice selfie at

:54:03. > :54:41.the All-England Club! Soares to begin the second set.

:54:42. > :54:51.Well played, set up by the wonderful return of Nestor. That is what

:54:52. > :54:52.doubles is all about, taking advantage of your partner's good

:54:53. > :55:10.shots. 113 mph to Nestor, that one was 102,

:55:11. > :55:32.the slider. What you find was really good Mixed

:55:33. > :55:36.Doubles players, the men, they might have to mark all three opportunities

:55:37. > :55:40.to win a point, it varies different ways. If one means going through the

:55:41. > :55:46.player or around, they will normally go around. Good start to the second

:55:47. > :56:01.set. It is always wonderful, evenings at

:56:02. > :56:05.Wimbledon, majors, might be a bit tiring after a long day of watching

:56:06. > :56:09.in the sun, especially when you get the bigger names, Tina Hingis is a

:56:10. > :56:30.big tennis name, Daniel Nestor as well.

:56:31. > :56:42.Inducted into the tennis hall of fame last year. She never won the

:56:43. > :56:52.French. That would have been the one everyone thought she would have won

:56:53. > :56:53.first. That match to Steffi Graf is one she would rather forget. Very

:56:54. > :57:08.emotionally charged. I remember when Steffi Graf got the

:57:09. > :57:15.trophy, she said to Martina, don't worry you will win here one day, but

:57:16. > :57:17.she never did. She won the other three that year. The Australian

:57:18. > :57:24.Open, US Open and Wimbledon. She has done the Grand Slam in

:57:25. > :58:12.doubles, so close in the singles. It is in. What a shot that was.

:58:13. > :58:16.Mladenovic pulled on the forehand side. I was looking for a low P. For

:58:17. > :58:20.her to come up with that huge backhand... -- I was looking for a

:58:21. > :59:01.lob here. Terrific shot. Nothing has really changed with

:59:02. > :59:02.Hingis, everything looks the same, everything is very well-placed and

:59:03. > :59:15.well oiled. His serve still looks so rhythmical.

:59:16. > :59:21.We did not have anything spectacular, there was no, big

:59:22. > :59:22.forehand, big serve, big backhand, but the whole package was mighty

:59:23. > :00:21.fine. second serve. Soares inserting

:00:22. > :00:31.himself into that point, and rightly so. I would like to see him do a

:00:32. > :00:42.little more. At the net. Well played. He is listening! That is

:00:43. > :00:47.what he has to do, keep the opponent guessing as to whether he will stay

:00:48. > :00:54.or go. Number three in the world in doubles at the moment, Soares. They

:00:55. > :01:06.keep their noses in front in the second set. Soares won the title at

:01:07. > :01:12.Queen's this year with his regular partner. But for Martina hinges it

:01:13. > :01:19.was the left hip that finished her career, she had surgery on her left

:01:20. > :01:24.ankle as well. At Eastbourne she appeared there and talked about the

:01:25. > :01:27.come back and played early on. John was covering the event the BBC at

:01:28. > :01:32.Eastbourne and chatted with her and asked why she had come back. I think

:01:33. > :01:36.she had missed it. She loves to compete, she is said and healthy and

:01:37. > :01:41.when you play on Centre Court at Wimbledon and you can understand it.

:01:42. > :01:45.The first time she came back was at an event where I was tournament

:01:46. > :01:49.director in Australia and the interest was so phenomenal in

:01:50. > :01:52.Australia that we Hill pushback had to build more TV platforms around

:01:53. > :02:03.the Centre Court purely to accommodate Martina hinges. -

:02:04. > :02:18.Martina Hingis. Mladenovic, 1-2, second set.

:02:19. > :02:21.Just didn't move forward, this one, Mladenovic could have taken two more

:02:22. > :03:17.steps. There is the mother of Kristina

:03:18. > :03:22.Mladenovic. It must feel like a magnet sometimes you are trying to

:03:23. > :03:43.keep the return away from the net player. Nestor has a long reach.

:03:44. > :03:50.If you are going to go up the line you really have to be assertive and

:03:51. > :03:52.aggressive. Soares just not doing enough with that return. That is

:03:53. > :04:24.easy pickings for Nestor. Has not lost a serve yet,

:04:25. > :04:48.Mladenovic. Still hasn't! That must feel good. She just has

:04:49. > :04:53.that little bit of pop that can shoot through on the grass court,

:04:54. > :04:56.blood and Eric. HIngis, that is one of the things that she struggled

:04:57. > :05:05.with throughout her career - Mladenovic. And ultimately when

:05:06. > :05:10.HIngis played the big hitters like Lindsay Davenport, if they hit the

:05:11. > :05:12.ball in, she struggled. They just had to be a bit off for her to have

:05:13. > :05:27.an opportunity. Back for a bit of a pep up talk. He

:05:28. > :05:36.needs a bit of that, Soares. He just looks a little heavy. He just has to

:05:37. > :05:37.grams himself up. -- has two pick himself up. Quarterfinalist in the

:05:38. > :05:47.doubles here, five years ago. The winner of the US Mixed Doubles

:05:48. > :05:58.two years ago with a Russian partner. You are saying that he's

:05:59. > :06:00.had plenty of experienced on the mixed Court and the doubles court

:06:01. > :06:04.committee really should be doing better get a might. Is that what you

:06:05. > :06:11.are saying! LAUGHTER . Fair comment. -- you say that he

:06:12. > :06:24.really should be doing better here tonight. HIngis has been very well

:06:25. > :06:34.mannered. Very gracious. It in the right shoulder! -- hit in the right

:06:35. > :06:54.shoulder. Wouldn't like this, Martina. Watch out, Kristina! Why do

:06:55. > :07:11.you always make the best returns on the fault serves? He lost his

:07:12. > :07:27.doubles match today, like Nestor, so maybe he is feeling a little flat.

:07:28. > :07:39.HIngis is jogging back to the chair, Soares the opposite. Everybody loves

:07:40. > :07:43.winning. A silly comment, but Martina Hingis demands it, every

:07:44. > :07:48.time she stepped on court from a very, very young age. Absolutely.

:07:49. > :07:53.She isn't back to make up the numbers. You don't need to do this.

:07:54. > :08:04.She is back because she feels that are more major titles in her,

:08:05. > :08:09.whether doubles or mixed. It would always be fun to Mike them up for

:08:10. > :08:14.the chaps. She's obviously feeling a bruise on that shoulder. Just to get

:08:15. > :08:18.the tactics and what they have to try to do. The bruise on the

:08:19. > :08:30.shoulder is nothing compared to the bruise on the ego! Still look so

:08:31. > :08:43.fit. 33 years old -- still looks so fit. Mladenovic is 21, her partner

:08:44. > :09:06.is 41. And serving, Daniel Nestor. At 2-3, second set.

:09:07. > :09:18.Well-placed. She didn't rush that shot, Mladenovic, she had plenty of

:09:19. > :09:31.time, placed it between the opponents.

:09:32. > :09:48.Made it! This is a good point from Mladenovic. Covers that one, and

:09:49. > :09:55.look you could drive a bus at Martina's line. Good also to see

:09:56. > :10:02.that. -- it was good of her to see that.

:10:03. > :10:09.Having been broken, Nestor, in his opening service game coming he then

:10:10. > :10:20.had a tough old. That he has not dropped a point since on serve. --

:10:21. > :10:25.he had a tough hold. What an unbelievable job the ball boys and

:10:26. > :10:29.ball girls do. There are about 250 of them, aren't there? You only

:10:30. > :10:31.notice them when they get the new ball out. That is the way it should

:10:32. > :11:13.be. Serving and varying. Soares actually

:11:14. > :11:19.looking like he was going to hit a ball in the middle of the court. He

:11:20. > :11:50.needs to do more of that on Martina's serve.

:11:51. > :12:00.Left game for Martina Hingis. -- love game.

:12:01. > :12:09.Good play. We are talking about Martina a lot but she still gives

:12:10. > :12:15.you so little. Very few cheap points. She hardly makes any errors.

:12:16. > :12:23.Amazing. It is a bit better than not making the error. Martina hits the

:12:24. > :12:27.ball where it should go. 99 times out of a hundred, just to make it as

:12:28. > :12:35.awkward as possible. She knows what she is capable of. During that last

:12:36. > :12:40.point she knows that if she hits a note placed ball to her opponent on

:12:41. > :12:43.a volley she will struggle. Mladenovic is good at high,

:12:44. > :12:47.particularly of the forehand volley when it is flat and has a rid of

:12:48. > :12:52.penetration and if you get it know she will struggle. -- has a bit of

:12:53. > :12:59.penetration. Martina always asking the question. Mladenovic. 3-4.

:13:00. > :13:33.Second set. On the Australian Open Mixed

:13:34. > :13:35.Doubles, these two, as well as the Open title last year so they are the

:13:36. > :13:59.team to beat in the Mixed Doubles. That is a better return. Soares

:14:00. > :14:22.coming in and playing a point filled with conviction.

:14:23. > :14:31.You could feel that coming, couldn't you! The serve, 88 mph. And her

:14:32. > :14:40.reaction after it. Just pushing the second one. This is just the time

:14:41. > :14:41.way she needs a first serve, and her partner needs to help her at the

:14:42. > :15:13.net. So good! Great reach, great hands.

:15:14. > :15:19.He did not get the job done on the first one, Nestor, but he sits

:15:20. > :15:24.needed on the second one. Look at that on the false debt, just a flick

:15:25. > :15:32.of the wrist. Great hands. -- on the full stretch. Help proud he must be,

:15:33. > :15:42.as a Canadian, of Raonic and Bouchard. -- how proud he must be.

:15:43. > :15:48.And they all him. -- and they, of him. Talking about important points,

:15:49. > :15:52.the one he hit the volley on, if he had not one that, it would have been

:15:53. > :16:02.15-40, the difference between that and 30-30. And suddenly she holds

:16:03. > :16:14.serve. And Mladenovic is still unbroken. Daniel Nestor, Martina,

:16:15. > :16:16.twice with the breaks in the match. Soares is not broken. Serving at

:16:17. > :17:25.4-4, second set. That has to be a one-minute game!

:17:26. > :17:32.Fabulous game. He is on the job now, Soares. He's starting to return

:17:33. > :17:36.better. That was a tremendous game. And playing doubles, you have to

:17:37. > :17:46.play doubles as a junior to get a world ranking. So many of the top

:17:47. > :17:49.singles players then drop the doubles but it brings the crowds

:17:50. > :17:53.because it is fun, watching the best singles players in the doubles but

:17:54. > :17:59.it combines touch and angles and it gives you so much. So many players

:18:00. > :18:02.in women's and men's tennis at the top of the game only play singles

:18:03. > :18:05.but you feel that if they played doubles it would add an extra

:18:06. > :18:09.dimension to their game especially on grass where you have to play

:18:10. > :18:19.transition shots from the baseline to the net, play angles, touch

:18:20. > :18:35.volleys. Nestor serving to stay in this second set and 4-5. Staying

:18:36. > :18:40.back for the second serve, Soares. Got her racket on it, Martina, just

:18:41. > :18:43.could not drag it back across court. Tough to lobster -- lob it from

:18:44. > :19:03.where it was coming back. Boobs. -- boots. I thought he was

:19:04. > :19:07.looking at the hospital many of! -- the menu! Should have gone low with

:19:08. > :20:03.this one, Soares, not up and over. That point had purpose from Soares.

:20:04. > :20:11.Turning defence into attack. A nice touch. Did a good job of getting to

:20:12. > :20:29.that volley, Mladenovic, before it got below the height of the net.

:20:30. > :20:36.Beautiful rhythm. Who will be the first team to blink? Perhaps it will

:20:37. > :20:38.be just a point here and there towards the latter stages of this

:20:39. > :21:13.set. He is ready to go! Can't remember the last time Martina

:21:14. > :21:48.missed a first serve. 2010? LAUGHTER .

:21:49. > :21:56.Do that again... At your peril! A good move, actually. And there is

:21:57. > :22:17.another one. After 69 minutes, Martina is still

:22:18. > :22:22.looking very solid so the pressure is now on Mladenovic, having to hold

:22:23. > :22:26.serve to stay in the second set. Nestor will be looking to move at

:22:27. > :22:35.the net and help her as much as he can. There is a certain amount of

:22:36. > :22:39.relief when the lady gets her first serve in. And her partner can just

:22:40. > :22:43.cross and it just makes its much easier, but your job is that you

:22:44. > :22:49.have to get the first serve in because it's so much easier for him

:22:50. > :22:56.to move, rather than of a second serve, which is difficult. Your

:22:57. > :23:05.opponent has that much more time to either go down the line or

:23:06. > :23:10.crosscourt. The best of three sets in the Mixed Doubles. If it goes to

:23:11. > :23:23.a third, it's a long set, with no tie-break.

:23:24. > :23:55.110 mph, effortless, it seemed. 6-foot tall, one 84 centimetres.

:23:56. > :24:04.Brilliant from Mladenovic. It is becoming the norm, six foot tall

:24:05. > :24:11.female tennis players, terrific athletes. 30 years ago, there were

:24:12. > :24:15.very few that were over six feet and they did not get around the court

:24:16. > :24:18.quickly. You see the young girls now, six feet tall and terrific

:24:19. > :24:27.athletes, getting around the court so well.

:24:28. > :24:31.We haven't had a break of serve since the seventh game of the first

:24:32. > :24:52.set. A little vicious! He enjoyed it,

:24:53. > :25:26.though! Effortless. The tie-break it is. Nestor and

:25:27. > :25:29.Mladenovic beat Ashleigh Barty of Australia and her partner in the

:25:30. > :25:35.last match on a tie-break, winning and 7-4. For Martina and Soares,

:25:36. > :26:09.their first tie-break of the tournament.

:26:10. > :26:15.that the other end from which you have been serving throughout the

:26:16. > :26:42.set. -- you have two serve from the other end. You change ends.

:26:43. > :27:02.Goes to the other end for serving and still gets it in, the first

:27:03. > :27:41.serve. Amazing. She went for it, though. She knew

:27:42. > :28:10.there was a big return coming. How costly might that be? She knows it.

:28:11. > :28:17.SUE BARKER: I am sorry but we must now leave this match. If you want to

:28:18. > :28:20.continue watching .com you can, on the red button. We are stopping

:28:21. > :28:25.because we have the highlights of the ladies semifinals coming up next
