:00:49. > :00:53.Wimbledon. The skies are blue and the crowds are here once again in
:00:54. > :00:58.anticipation of what promises to be another terrific day of tennis. In
:00:59. > :01:05.the ladies final tomorrow, it is between Petra Kvitova and Eugenie
:01:06. > :01:08.Bouchard. They have both come through on Saturday. Today is the
:01:09. > :01:14.turn of the men and the four who remain will go head to head on
:01:15. > :01:17.Centre Court with a place in Sunday's showpiece on their sites.
:01:18. > :01:29.Sit back and look enjoy what bronzes to be another memorable day. -- and
:01:30. > :01:38.enjoy. What promises to be another memorable day. The semifinals, a big
:01:39. > :01:50.day. There is so much at stake. Four. -- what do we have? On one
:01:51. > :01:59.side of the net, two guys who have been there, CNET and done it.
:02:00. > :02:08.Federer, seven Wimbledon titles. -- seen it and done it. 17 Grand Slam
:02:09. > :02:16.titles, 34 Grand Slam semifinals. Novak Djokovic, champion here in
:02:17. > :02:26.2011. Six Grand Slam titles. 23 Grand Slam semifinals. On the other
:02:27. > :02:35.side of the net, two guys who have never been there before. Dimitrov,
:02:36. > :02:53.the King of Queen's The slayer of Murray. His first Grand Slam
:02:54. > :02:59.semifinal. Raonic. Man mountain, aces hi. His first Grand Slam
:03:00. > :03:07.semifinal. They have the firepower, not the experience. Novak Djokovic
:03:08. > :03:13.against Dimitrov. Federer against Ray on it. -- Raonic. Old versus
:03:14. > :03:29.new. Let the battle commence. We are looking forward to these
:03:30. > :03:34.fascinating match ups. Play gets under way on Centre Court at 1pm.
:03:35. > :03:39.First up, Novak Djokovic, the top seed. He is the bookies favourite.
:03:40. > :03:46.He is against Grigor Dimitrov. Second on Centre Court, Roger
:03:47. > :03:53.Federer who is looking to stay on course for a record eighth Wimbledon
:03:54. > :04:00.title. Up against Milos Raonic. So much to look forward to, so much to
:04:01. > :04:03.talk about as well. Novak Djokovic arriving here. He knows all about
:04:04. > :04:07.the big match experience. Looking very calm and relaxed on the
:04:08. > :04:11.practice court. It is a whole new experience for this young man,
:04:12. > :04:18.Grigor Dimitrov. He looked into Mendez form against Andy Murray and
:04:19. > :04:27.was a worthy winner -- in tremendous form. Milos Raonic has been serving
:04:28. > :04:32.at 140mph. He takes on the legend, Roger Federer. This is the scene on
:04:33. > :04:36.the hill, Henman Hill. They will be watching on the big screen. Even
:04:37. > :04:42.though most of the matches are being played on the two show courts, still
:04:43. > :04:46.a big crowd coming to enjoy the Wimbledon experience, to have a
:04:47. > :04:50.photo taken in front of some of the famous landmarks, get an autograph
:04:51. > :04:57.or two and just enjoy being at Wimbledon. Great atmosphere here on
:04:58. > :05:05.men's semifinals day. I am here with two favourites. Back on his Hill,
:05:06. > :05:10.Tim. And Jimmy. A special day. Nothing better than this. What I
:05:11. > :05:18.like about it is that you get the old guard and the new. You are going
:05:19. > :05:28.to have a match with Djokovic and Dimitrov. A lot of moving around.
:05:29. > :05:33.Imagination. Followed by the Federer Raonic match. I am looking forward
:05:34. > :05:39.to a great day. A little bit of everything. Two players, a whole new
:05:40. > :05:45.excellence for them. As we have alluded to in the top of the show,
:05:46. > :05:49.it is the old versus the new guard. New classes experience. It will be
:05:50. > :05:55.very interesting to see how the new boys, Dimitrov and Raonic, how they
:05:56. > :06:00.perform. Djokovic and Federer have got the experience. Very interesting
:06:01. > :06:05.matchups. Djokovic and Dimitrov are two of the best defenders, two of
:06:06. > :06:10.the best movers on grass. It will be interesting to see who has the
:06:11. > :06:16.impact in those rallies. It will be interesting to see if Raonic can
:06:17. > :06:21.serve through Federer. We have got so much to talk about. What about
:06:22. > :06:27.the weather? It has been very hot and sunny today. Let us find out if
:06:28. > :06:31.it will stay. The weather is therefore today. Look who is leaving
:06:32. > :06:36.the court now, Roger Federer has been warming up. The weather is also
:06:37. > :06:40.warming up too. Yesterday we had the highest temperature of the year so
:06:41. > :06:46.far. Today we might top it. For Wimbledon, sunshine this afternoon.
:06:47. > :06:51.A noticeable breeze. It makes it feel a little bit cooler. As we head
:06:52. > :06:57.on through the day into the evening, the cloud will start to build. That
:06:58. > :07:03.is ahead of a weather front coming our way. Today we expect it to stay
:07:04. > :07:09.dry. Tomorrow, well, it will start early on with rain. There will be
:07:10. > :07:13.quite a lot of cloud behind it. Lighter rain coming our way. We
:07:14. > :07:17.expect it to improve through the course of the afternoon. For Sunday
:07:18. > :07:22.itself, we are looking at a mixture of sunshine and showers. 60% risk of
:07:23. > :07:26.the showers at this stage. There will be sunshine in between. At
:07:27. > :07:45.least it means the pollen levels will start to come down after today.
:07:46. > :07:50.That is good news. Is this worthy of scorchio? I think it is. The four
:07:51. > :08:02.players have different styles of play. We have done a feature,
:08:03. > :08:07.comparing style versus substance. How do you design the perfect tennis
:08:08. > :08:11.player? What is the balance between style and substance? Why is it that
:08:12. > :08:14.Roger Federer is described not just as a great player but as a beautiful
:08:15. > :08:26.one too? Think of how we connect with some
:08:27. > :08:31.players more than others. Some of them, the way they play, they way
:08:32. > :08:35.they move, they inspire us, almost like a great painting or a fine
:08:36. > :08:45.piece of music. Watching Federer move is like watching Bruce --
:08:46. > :08:50.watching a ballerina in his prime. There is not a lot of impact on his
:08:51. > :08:56.feet. To me, it is unbelievable. He makes it look so easy. Roger Federer
:08:57. > :09:00.is probably the greatest example of a player who can play his game and
:09:01. > :09:04.float around the court, no matter what the score is, no matter what
:09:05. > :09:09.the situation is. And still he looks like he has a great resolve of a
:09:10. > :09:16.champion. A lot of people think that when they watch Federer, you close
:09:17. > :09:18.your eyes and you dream and you imagine the great poet. He has that
:09:19. > :09:35.classical game. We are well aware that greatness is
:09:36. > :09:40.about far more than functionality. Seve Ballesteros was not the most
:09:41. > :09:46.successful golfer in the world but he changed the fabric of golf.
:09:47. > :09:58.Brazil in the 1970s made football saying. Pele-macro. Which tennis
:09:59. > :10:08.player makes using? Is it Federer with his finesse and grace? Or
:10:09. > :10:13.Raonic with power and craft? Is it Djokovic who marries precision and
:10:14. > :10:22.versatility? Or Dimitrov who has the hardest of shots but the softest of
:10:23. > :10:26.hands? To the touch and elegance of Ilie Nastase and McEnroe to the
:10:27. > :10:30.top-spin of Bjorn Borg to the power of Pete Sampras. And then to the
:10:31. > :10:39.almost floating movement of Roger Federer. For me, that was fun to
:10:40. > :10:43.watch, but it was not me. If you see a couple of shots of Rafa Nadal as
:10:44. > :10:47.he sidesteps with beautiful balance and then right before impact is able
:10:48. > :10:54.to push off his back leg and hit this incredibly powerful shot... You
:10:55. > :11:02.cannot see it in boxing, the left hook. It was scripted from God. Wow.
:11:03. > :11:06.I wish I could have done that. The most beautiful shot was the Monica
:11:07. > :11:10.Seles return. It was not necessarily a thing of artistry, but how she
:11:11. > :11:17.managed to take balls early and put them in impossible positions in the
:11:18. > :11:23.court. I loved watching her play. Serena Williams's serve. So
:11:24. > :11:26.effortless. Yet she hits 125mph. When people make the difficult
:11:27. > :11:33.things look easy, people admire that. Roger Federer is the epitome
:11:34. > :11:38.of that. In sport, there is the argument it is only about winning,
:11:39. > :11:42.style does not matter at all. That of course is the conventional
:11:43. > :11:48.perspective of the players. In order of importance, always, winning.
:11:49. > :12:01.Style or substance? If you have got the style, you had bet to have the
:12:02. > :12:05.substance. The you become aware of having to have both. If you can have
:12:06. > :12:09.style and elegance and feed off the crowd and have the crowd get behind
:12:10. > :12:17.you or sometimes be involved one way or another, and involve them, then
:12:18. > :12:21.you have succeeded. If you top that off with showing them how it is
:12:22. > :12:26.done, that is the ultimate. But you have got to go with winning first.
:12:27. > :12:30.Sports people want to win above all else. But it is often in the
:12:31. > :12:40.striving that they produce both beauty and meaning that capture our
:12:41. > :12:48.hearts and minds. Beauty is of course highly subjective. There is
:12:49. > :12:57.only one thing that is impossible to understand, those who fail to see
:12:58. > :13:01.the beauty in sport. That Federer backhand is certainly a
:13:02. > :13:05.thing of beauty. I am going to throw you a curveball. Style versus
:13:06. > :13:13.substance, how would you describe Tim Henman's game? Be kind to me! I
:13:14. > :13:19.will pay you after. Tim is the epitome of the classic serve and
:13:20. > :13:22.volley player. Old school, movement around the court, movement forward,
:13:23. > :13:31.the way he got his body in the flow into his shots. That is not today's
:13:32. > :13:38.game. Today's game is more grinding from the baseline. Side to side
:13:39. > :13:48.movement. Tim was touch and feel. Style. 100%. Substance, a little...
:13:49. > :13:53.That would have helped! You can only do what you can do in the way you do
:13:54. > :13:59.it the best. I watched you play an awful lot and always marvelled
:14:00. > :14:02.watching things that I could not do. Serve and volley was not my thing.
:14:03. > :14:08.The way you did it and the way you got around the net, you, John
:14:09. > :14:14.McEnroe, Stefan Edberg, the best of that. Don't pick him up too much! I
:14:15. > :14:20.am not going to say it any other way than the way it is. We were talking
:14:21. > :14:25.about it. When I was growing up, it was the era of John McEnroe, his
:14:26. > :14:29.competitive instinct on the court, the way he fought. Hitting flat from
:14:30. > :14:38.the baseline, never say die attitude. Style, substance, passion,
:14:39. > :14:52.charisma, he had it all. When did you play the last US Open? I was 40.
:14:53. > :15:01.Looking ahead to the semifinals, we have asked you to pick out what the
:15:02. > :15:06.players are special act. With Roger, you can take so many boxes. He has
:15:07. > :15:10.the versatility, staying in the rally, picking off a passing shot
:15:11. > :15:15.because he is capable of hitting those types of shots. This is his
:15:16. > :15:19.bread and butter, the big serve setting up the forehand.
:15:20. > :15:24.Unbelievable skill to control that prof Wally. When he is hitting his
:15:25. > :15:30.spots on his serve, he is so difficult to play against -- that
:15:31. > :15:36.half volley. Looking to dictate with the forehand, move forehand, soft
:15:37. > :15:39.hands on the drop volley. So many different attributes. That is why I
:15:40. > :15:47.think he will prove a tough challenge for Raonic. Huge point,
:15:48. > :15:50.second serve. Maybe this is the Stefan Edberg influence, getting
:15:51. > :15:58.forward more. He is looking very comfortable. The style and grace of
:15:59. > :16:03.the backhand is something to enjoy. This was him practising earlier.
:16:04. > :16:09.Ninth Wimbledon semifinal. He has never lost one of them, only one
:16:10. > :16:14.set. Pretty good effort. He is a big match player, no doubt about it. He
:16:15. > :16:19.has won here seven times. To come out time after time year after year
:16:20. > :16:24.and to lift your game to equal the level of your performance is
:16:25. > :16:27.something very special. He has done that. The second week of Wimbledon
:16:28. > :16:34.is one the best players play their best tennis. Obviously, his record
:16:35. > :16:38.has proven that. When you said the Stefan Edberg influence, I think
:16:39. > :16:42.that is a big part of it. Watching him play a little bit this week, I
:16:43. > :16:47.noticed he is trying to get in, mixing his shots up better, not just
:16:48. > :16:51.satisfied being at the baseline, sneaking in, letting the player go
:16:52. > :16:58.for his shot and getting the ball out of the air. That is old school.
:16:59. > :17:06.He is up against the ace machine that is Milos Raonic. Milos Raonic
:17:07. > :17:12.has the best serve in the game right now. If he is serving at 135-140
:17:13. > :17:21.mph-macro, it is so difficult to read. It most like you have to use a
:17:22. > :17:26.volleying technique to block the ball back into play. Federer can do
:17:27. > :17:30.that, if they get into baseline rallies when he has been able to
:17:31. > :17:35.take the serve out of the equation, I think Federer will come out on
:17:36. > :17:43.top. As you saw with Nick Kiryat against Nadal, if he serves 35, 40
:17:44. > :17:50.aces, that is such a good platform for his game. That is fed against
:17:51. > :17:54.Milos Raonic. Dimitrov was impressive against Murray. The start
:17:55. > :17:56.of that match, the first 25 minutes when he came out and won the first
:17:57. > :17:59.set 6-1, when he came out and won the first
:18:00. > :18:04.that was an impressive start. He needs to make a good start today. We
:18:05. > :18:09.see the similarities with Dimitrov's game to the Federer's
:18:10. > :18:21.game. Style and dexterity. The half volley between the legs. Dimitrov
:18:22. > :18:25.has to impose his game against Djokovic. They are both great
:18:26. > :18:29.defenders. It is whether he can stay in the rally and create
:18:30. > :18:33.opportunities to move forward and dominate. Novak Djokovic, talking
:18:34. > :18:37.about the defence, he is so tough to beat in a Grand Slam. He is a runner
:18:38. > :18:42.and he is not afraid to keep the ball in play and mixes shots up. We
:18:43. > :18:48.talked the other day about the way the players slide on grass and hard
:18:49. > :18:53.courts. He spreads himself out and really puts everything he has, body
:18:54. > :19:00.and soul, into getting every shot back. To have him go out of there,
:19:01. > :19:04.he has won before, he knows what it is like to be playing there. He is
:19:05. > :19:07.playing against a young upstart who wants to make his name and
:19:08. > :19:12.reputation and he is going to have to be equal to the task. When you
:19:13. > :19:17.see them move, for me, as you rightly say, sliding, now on grass
:19:18. > :19:23.courts, the way to move at the back of the court, when it gets dusty, it
:19:24. > :19:27.is to slide. His balance, flexibility. Flexibility, that is
:19:28. > :19:35.beyond flexible itty! Just incredible. Some of that is that you
:19:36. > :19:38.are born with that but also when you look at his physique and how hard he
:19:39. > :19:45.works, it is an area of his game where he realises it is massively
:19:46. > :19:50.important. Defence is a huge part of his game and I am sure we will see
:19:51. > :19:54.today. He loves the big occasion. He was practising earlier, Novak
:19:55. > :20:00.Djokovic and Garry Richardson and John Lloyd were there too.
:20:01. > :20:06.Novak Djokovic, 23 Grand Slam semifinals. Even for him, the
:20:07. > :20:10.occasion is massive. It is huge. He has been Mr consistency in so many
:20:11. > :20:13.ways but he has not had a good record in the finals. That is
:20:14. > :20:21.something he has got to correct and that is why he has brought in Boris
:20:22. > :20:26.Becker. This was Boris's home. He needs the mental side to get him
:20:27. > :20:34.through the semi and then the final. Boris has a word every now and
:20:35. > :20:40.again. He is so confident. This is where you want to be, this is where
:20:41. > :20:46.you want to play your best tennis. Novak Djokovic so vastly
:20:47. > :20:49.experienced. We don't know how Grigor Dimitrov will react. If he
:20:50. > :20:53.plays as well as he did against Murray, we could have an epic match
:20:54. > :20:58.will stop I think Novak Djokovic has got too much experience for him. --
:20:59. > :21:05.an epic match. How can he possibly lose this match? He can lose it if
:21:06. > :21:10.the good image of days against him like he did against Murray. He has
:21:11. > :21:15.weapons that can hurt Djokovic. But I think over five sets, Djokovic
:21:16. > :21:22.will be a little bit too good. Thank you. Such a great competitor.
:21:23. > :21:28.That is why he has won Wimbledon and the US Open. He has got to
:21:29. > :21:32.understand that what he has done before does not count. You can throw
:21:33. > :21:36.all the statistics out of the window. Every match at Wimbledon is
:21:37. > :21:41.the most important but up to get ahead of yourself is a huge mistake.
:21:42. > :21:45.To settle in and to get into this match from the very beginning, that
:21:46. > :21:52.will be important. A slow start could be trouble. Djokovic is such a
:21:53. > :21:57.gutsy player. Against Marin Cilic, getting the fifth set, he loves a
:21:58. > :22:02.battle. He does. Reflecting on the five matches so far, he has not
:22:03. > :22:06.played brilliantly but he has always done enough. When he played Radek
:22:07. > :22:10.Stepanek, that was a dogfight but he got through it. You look at the
:22:11. > :22:16.ability of the great champions when things are not going perfectly to
:22:17. > :22:22.get a win. I think he will do that today. Dimitrov got off to a
:22:23. > :22:25.fantastic start against Murray to win the first set 6-1. It is
:22:26. > :22:31.important he gets off to eight good start. The biggest match of his life
:22:32. > :22:38.-- good start. The early stages will be key. But I do see Djokovic coming
:22:39. > :22:44.through. Tennis is a confidence game. If you start strong and get on
:22:45. > :22:48.top. Things start flowing freely. For Dimitrov, that will be very
:22:49. > :22:56.important, to start that way. He does not want to get behind. A good
:22:57. > :23:02.start from both players, but whoever comes off is going to have to play
:23:03. > :23:07.mentally but also with the kind of game they are bringing to the Centre
:23:08. > :23:13.Court. We saw Novak Djokovic on the practice court. Let us hear from his
:23:14. > :23:18.coach, Boris Becker. What has he been up to? He is in
:23:19. > :23:23.good form and excited to play. It is sunny. That does not happen
:23:24. > :23:27.everyday. Another semifinal, a big match ahead. He was telling me
:23:28. > :23:30.earlier this week that the semifinalists are different. You
:23:31. > :23:36.have experienced it, when you walk up for the semifinal, what is it
:23:37. > :23:41.like? It is a special place to play tennis. It is always a privilege to
:23:42. > :23:45.be on Centre Court. At the end of the day, it is a match that has to
:23:46. > :23:51.be played. Dimitrov is a tough opponent. What are you expecting
:23:52. > :23:56.from Dimitrov? Can he produce such a high intensity again for the
:23:57. > :24:00.semifinal? He has to beat Djokovic will stop hopefully not! But he had
:24:01. > :24:07.a phenomenal match against Andy Murray -- to be Djokovic. Hopefully
:24:08. > :24:14.not! He has not lost a match on grass yet so he is on fine form.
:24:15. > :24:19.50-50 match. He will walk out shortly, do you say anything more?
:24:20. > :24:24.What do you say to him before he goes out? We speak a little bit. But
:24:25. > :24:30.stays in the locker room. Thank you. In by.
:24:31. > :24:39.We don't believe him. 50-50 match. Was his areas? I don't think
:24:40. > :24:44.Djokovic would be pleased with that! -- was he serious! More 60-40
:24:45. > :24:50.Djokovic. What about Grigor Dimitrov? He beat Andy Murray in the
:24:51. > :25:00.quarterfinal and after that victory he spoke to John Inverdale.
:25:01. > :25:12.The defence of Andy Murray's Wimbledon crown is over.
:25:13. > :25:19.Best day of your life? Could be! A good feeling. A good feeling to have
:25:20. > :25:25.a win like that. The quarterfinal match, Wimbledon, defending
:25:26. > :25:32.champion, Centre Court. What more can you ask? I read you felt
:25:33. > :25:36.something in the air about Andy Murray's body language. Can you
:25:37. > :25:41.explain that? Just a feeling early on. I have practised with him so
:25:42. > :25:45.many times. I see when he is striking the ball really well and
:25:46. > :25:50.when he is a bit rusty. I think early on in the match, as soon as we
:25:51. > :25:57.started hitting the ball, I was feeling comfortable and it was just
:25:58. > :26:01.my gut feeling. The one thing is for sure is that I don't think Andy
:26:02. > :26:06.Murray ever plays bad tennis. He is always fighting and he is a
:26:07. > :26:10.tremendous guy on and off the court. What was the feeling like when you
:26:11. > :26:17.knew you were in a grandson semifinal? Amazing. My parents and
:26:18. > :26:27.close friends were in the box -- you were in a Grand Slam semifinal? They
:26:28. > :26:32.give me power and confidence. Exciting. In the box, Roger Rasheed.
:26:33. > :26:37.Can you explain what he has done to make Grigor Dimitrov almost reaches
:26:38. > :26:46.potential? I am giving him all of the credit! We try to focus on the
:26:47. > :26:50.moment. We never look at just one thing in particular. We relax and
:26:51. > :26:59.see the whole picture and what we are aiming for. For me, it is a
:27:00. > :27:02.great relationship that we have. He has looked strong over the past six
:27:03. > :27:06.- eight months. That is training, what we are doing on the practice
:27:07. > :27:12.court. Everything that revolves around how strong he can be. His
:27:13. > :27:17.biggest rent is that he is 25% of the way through his development. --
:27:18. > :27:22.biggest strength. People might say I am nuts. We started in October, from
:27:23. > :27:27.where he was to where he is now, eight months, he is only going
:27:28. > :27:33.to... We have only touched the physical side and the mental side of
:27:34. > :27:35.the game. He wants to be uncomfortable and accountable and
:27:36. > :27:41.see what challenges he can take on and what he has got to deliver.
:27:42. > :27:47.Four, five years ago, he said, I want to be playing the big guys.
:27:48. > :27:54.Here you are now playing Djokovic in the semifinal at Wimbledon. How does
:27:55. > :27:59.that sound? It sounds exactly as I imagined it. I live for those
:28:00. > :28:05.moments. I compete for that and for me it is just... I have done the
:28:06. > :28:08.work now and I could say I am happily rewarded to get that
:28:09. > :28:14.position right now about I don't want to end things now because I
:28:15. > :28:20.have bigger goals and bigger potential and a lot of homework to
:28:21. > :28:26.be done. Playing Novak that is an awesome feeling for me. Dare you
:28:27. > :28:32.think about Sunday? Of course. That is my ultimate goal. This is where
:28:33. > :28:39.the drama will unfold. A place Novak Djokovic knows very well. Not so
:28:40. > :28:44.much Grigor Dimitrov. His first major Grand Slam semifinal. A whole
:28:45. > :28:50.new extremes for him. It is a nervy wait. He needs to avoid the let
:28:51. > :28:52.down. He had a great match against Murray. He needs to have the
:28:53. > :28:58.confidence he ended the match with. I know he had a day off and you can
:28:59. > :29:03.settle in and understand what he has to do. The importance of coming out
:29:04. > :29:09.and starting quick, I cannot say that enough for him. If he comes out
:29:10. > :29:14.slope and let's Novak Djokovic get on top, it will be a big mistake.
:29:15. > :29:20.One week, one fortnight, one match, it does not a career make.
:29:21. > :29:23.Everything we are talking about, the young players, they have to back it
:29:24. > :29:30.up with future play. We will see what happens. We just saw Rod Laver
:29:31. > :29:40.and Jack Nicholas. You have played golf with him? I have not. I would
:29:41. > :29:44.love to. That makes two of us. I was going to ask Jimmy if he remember is
:29:45. > :29:49.what it was like, his first Grand Slam semifinal but when we looked at
:29:50. > :29:52.the record, you have been in 31 Grand Slam semifinals. The second on
:29:53. > :29:57.the all-time list, behind Roger Federer. There's nothing I can do
:29:58. > :30:01.about it now. To be honest with you, getting to the semis, you can see
:30:02. > :30:03.the finish line. As I said earlier, you don't want to get ahead of
:30:04. > :30:12.yourself but the feeling of walking out there, knowing winning Wimbledon
:30:13. > :30:16.is a grasp away, your heart pounds for that. And then to go out and
:30:17. > :30:21.play the kind of tennis which you are supposed to do, to get you into
:30:22. > :30:25.the finals, there's nothing better. I don't think that feeling is
:30:26. > :30:31.expressed in. I wish the fans could really understand what it means for
:30:32. > :30:35.the players walking out there today. Especially Dimitrov and Raonic
:30:36. > :30:43.because they have not been there before. Dimitrov, we will find out
:30:44. > :30:47.if he has the stomach for the big occasions because it can affect
:30:48. > :30:51.people. Yes, there is no doubt there is the technical aspect of the game
:30:52. > :30:57.to match up. Coming to this occasion for the first time, how they handle
:30:58. > :31:00.it mentally, for Dimitrov, that is where Roger Rasheed has had a big
:31:01. > :31:11.part to play. His coaches had a fantastic job. -- his coaches done a
:31:12. > :31:14.fantastic job. The players have been called and we are ready for our
:31:15. > :31:21.first Wimbledon semifinal. And here they come. No doubt, a
:31:22. > :32:15.massive ovation for both players. Murray coming out for a semi, he
:32:16. > :32:21.talked about being nervous but only for the first few games. You hope
:32:22. > :32:26.Grigor Dimitrov can lose his nerves early on. Definitely, he will have
:32:27. > :32:30.been itching to get out on the court for the last 20 minutes. And start
:32:31. > :32:37.hitting some balls, get his feet moving. It's an important stage of
:32:38. > :32:41.the match. He wants to get settled in, concentrate on his first couple
:32:42. > :32:47.of service games and start to impose his game style. Definitely an
:32:48. > :32:50.important first 15 or 20 minutes. If you look at the head-to-head in the
:32:51. > :32:56.last time they played at the French Open last year, Dimitrov is such a
:32:57. > :33:00.different player now. Certainly more experience. I think that's going to
:33:01. > :33:08.work well with him. A lot of guys before a big match like this will be
:33:09. > :33:14.so ready. If he handled himself well in the locker room before he walks
:33:15. > :33:19.out, and is calm and collected, he moved his feet, get his game in
:33:20. > :33:25.order, he should be fine. He was champion at Queen's. How much is
:33:26. > :33:29.that confidence factor? Massively. Sports men and women talk about
:33:30. > :33:32.confidence. When you are coming in on the back of winning at Queen's,
:33:33. > :33:57.and now through to the semifinals, on the back of winning at Queen's,
:33:58. > :33:57.champion and he has said on the back of winning at Queen's,
:33:58. > :34:04.her work ethic has really helped him. Also her mentioning a few
:34:05. > :34:04.things to him. Also her mentioning a few
:34:05. > :34:13.walk out here and be prepared him. Also her mentioning a few
:34:14. > :34:18.it. She has been there, him. Also her mentioning a few
:34:19. > :34:18.as one on all stages. A little experience
:34:19. > :34:25.earlier about style and substance. We have released Mark
:34:26. > :34:37.earlier about style and substance. matter. On one side of the net
:34:38. > :34:37.another matter. On one side of the net
:34:38. > :34:37.who knows what it's like to matter. On one side of the net
:34:38. > :34:47.Wimbledon trophy. On the other, the young pretender, whose
:34:48. > :34:47.Wimbledon trophy. On the other, the defending champion. Both have
:34:48. > :34:47.Wimbledon trophy. On the other, the outcome of the semifinal. In
:34:48. > :35:00.particular, the second serve of Novak Djokovic, it's
:35:01. > :35:00.particular, the second serve of big difference for Dimitrov to
:35:01. > :35:00.content with. You big difference for Dimitrov to
:35:01. > :35:11.where, predominantly, the break points are, and the
:35:12. > :35:11.where, predominantly, the break terms of
:35:12. > :35:11.where, predominantly, the break Andy, it was coming in at a very
:35:12. > :35:19.comfortable height he Andy, it was coming in at a very
:35:20. > :35:26.through it. Novak's first Andy, it was coming in at a very
:35:27. > :35:33.is too short. That's not going to get it done against Novak, who takes
:35:34. > :35:34.control of this rally. And wins it. One of the surprising things with
:35:35. > :35:42.how well Dimitrov went into his background. Going across court. Andy
:35:43. > :35:42.perhaps background. Going across court. Andy
:35:43. > :35:53.well enough. You can see down the line, 24% not spreading his play.
:35:54. > :35:53.Dimitrov won't get that line, 24% not spreading his play.
:35:54. > :36:05.around better than anyone. He's got to defend more the baseline.
:36:06. > :36:11.around better than anyone. He's got seized his opportunity here to
:36:12. > :36:11.exploit the space. So that is Novak Djokovic. Let's have a look at
:36:12. > :36:21.Grigor Dimitrov's weapons. He has Djokovic. Let's have a look at
:36:22. > :36:22.worked on the slice and Djokovic. Let's have a look at
:36:23. > :36:35.see the red line at the bottom of your screen. It's almost one metre
:36:36. > :36:36.lower than the yellow your screen. It's almost one metre
:36:37. > :36:55.errors coming off the slice and the blend of tennis. That height
:36:56. > :36:55.errors coming off the slice and the miss time balls allowing Dimitrov to
:36:56. > :37:17.errors coming off the slice and the beating the top guys if you have got
:37:18. > :37:19.errors coming off the slice and the Mark Petchey going with the bookies
:37:20. > :37:24.favourite. That's not surprising. Interesting about the server and how
:37:25. > :37:28.high and difficult it is. Definitely, that was an element of
:37:29. > :37:31.Murray's game which was disappointing. On second serve, he
:37:32. > :37:38.let Dimitrov attack a lot of the time. We saw Djokovic getting a lot
:37:39. > :37:42.more left off the court. Perhaps that won't make life easy for
:37:43. > :37:46.Djokovic but some interesting analysis on how effective the slice
:37:47. > :37:50.backhand was for Dimitrov. He will look to keep the ball low so
:37:51. > :37:57.Djokovic has to attack off the next ball. Morris, always such a present
:37:58. > :38:05.on Centre Court. His keeping an eye on Novak Djokovic. -- Boris. He
:38:06. > :38:11.can't stay back and just trade shots. He is too good from the
:38:12. > :38:15.baseline. Especially on his backhand. He can continue to go for
:38:16. > :38:19.it but when he gets a shoulder on the two hander, he can drive the
:38:20. > :38:22.ball with pace up the line and that's not an easy shot. He's going
:38:23. > :38:25.over the higher part of the net so has to get his body behind it and
:38:26. > :38:30.nobody in the game does it better. On the other side, Dimitrov with the
:38:31. > :38:36.slice, he had better not floated over because Djokovic will take
:38:37. > :38:40.advantage of it. Move forward. Get close to the net. It's going to be
:38:41. > :38:48.interesting. There will be some great valleys out there today.
:38:49. > :38:52.Absolutely. -- rallies. Dimitar Berbatov have to go out there and
:38:53. > :38:56.mix-up the pattern of play from the baseline, use his slice of them take
:38:57. > :39:02.the initiative. He needs to serve aggressively. He will have to
:39:03. > :39:06.dictate with his forehand. If he can finish points off at the net, he
:39:07. > :39:11.definitely has a chance. Thank you very much for your comments. We are
:39:12. > :39:15.ready for the first semifinal. Let's join the commentary team, Andrew
:39:16. > :39:24.Castle, John Leyden John McEnroe. ANDREW CASTLE: Thank you very much.
:39:25. > :39:29.An amazing sporting venue attracting a fair amount of sports lovers.
:39:30. > :39:43.Jude Law talking to their grills's wife. This is a fascinating contest.
:39:44. > :39:46.They have played a bit. Dimitrov won an important match last year in
:39:47. > :39:55.Madrid. How do you find words to describe the magic they came up with
:39:56. > :40:04.in that match? Victory at Roland Garros. And very, very built-up
:40:05. > :40:11.match. Straight sets. This is one year on. A different contest. Justin
:40:12. > :40:17.Rose, he won his sixth PGA Tour title last week. He is in the box, a
:40:18. > :40:24.former US Open golf champion. Brian O'Driscoll. Just retired. He can
:40:25. > :40:33.stop beating himself up. Mark Woodforde with us as well.
:40:34. > :40:40.Hello, John. How are you? This is going to be a great day tennis.
:40:41. > :41:22.Definitely. tournament for him, 135. Maria
:41:23. > :41:43.Sharapova, Grigor's girlfriend. John Lloyd, remember the advice
:41:44. > :41:47.Maria gave to Grigor. She just said Wayne come a very simple. Basic but
:41:48. > :42:22.effective -- win. Arriving here today, you can look
:42:23. > :42:26.around and see a lot of schoolkids doing their sports day with
:42:27. > :42:36.exuberance in the sunshine and this is what Tim Trough -- Dimitrov
:42:37. > :42:38.brings to the court, the ability to have joy. If he can maintain that,
:42:39. > :42:42.brings to the court, the ability to have joy. If he can it'll be good.
:42:43. > :42:48.It's interesting because he's talked about how improved his fitness is. I
:42:49. > :42:51.think he will be tested. He ran 30 miles over winds and common during
:42:52. > :42:59.Queen's. And then won the tournament the same week. -- Wimbledon Common.
:43:00. > :43:05.At one time? Over the course of the week. Roger Rasheed has got him
:43:06. > :43:17.working. If he had done it in one day, I would be very impressed.
:43:18. > :43:47.Windier than players have had to deal with for most of this event.
:43:48. > :43:54.I think Dimitrov twirls his racket more than Federer between shots.
:43:55. > :44:05.Unbelievable. The breeze is going to be an issue. Hit a cleanable. --
:44:06. > :44:08.cleaner ball. This guide twirls his racket more than Federer and slides
:44:09. > :45:07.more than Djokovic. Left it and he shouldn't have done.
:45:08. > :45:14.Especially since he was right there. To put away that volley, easily.
:45:15. > :45:24.The intention of Dimitrov today is to make Djokovic pass all day long.
:45:25. > :45:37.His movement at the net is very high. He likes a target.
:45:38. > :45:46.Pressure clearly on the number one seed's shoulders here. That is the
:45:47. > :46:40.challenge correct. Expected to win this.
:46:41. > :46:46.works even better. -- a mishit. A good illustration of which way the
:46:47. > :46:53.wind is blowing on that one as well. As Dimitrov is serving, it is left
:46:54. > :47:30.to right. Djokovic, right to left. A heavy wind, at times.
:47:31. > :47:36.That is too long and that is comfortable for Dimitrov, who is
:47:37. > :47:41.settling into the semifinal clash. It is a first semifinal at Grand
:47:42. > :47:50.Slam level for the young man from Belgrade. The 23rd Grand Slam
:47:51. > :47:51.semifinal for Novak Djokovic, so a vast gulf in experience between the
:47:52. > :48:05.two men. But victory over Andy Murray will stand them in good
:48:06. > :48:08.stead. He hesitated a bit of a second set against Murray when he
:48:09. > :48:12.hesitated a bit of the second set against Murray wedding at the break.
:48:13. > :48:16.But when he reset and he came down to the tie-breaker commie played
:48:17. > :48:20.three great points in the tie-breaker and after that, he came
:48:21. > :48:31.through a lot in that match to win it in that manner. It proved to him,
:48:32. > :48:35.I'm sure. Andrew, I know you do your homework as you always do. Has he
:48:36. > :48:41.been able to defeat three of these top four guys in a Grand Slam event?
:48:42. > :48:47.It depends what happens later, obviously. Let's assume Roger
:48:48. > :48:53.somehow wins, he would have to beat three other top four guys. How long
:48:54. > :48:59.have I got to find your answer? Until the end of this game. Tomas
:49:00. > :49:08.Berdych came close, didn't he? Two out of three. But I don't win
:49:09. > :49:27.anything? I'm guessing zero. Could it be this guy, Dimitrov to do it?
:49:28. > :49:37.I will have John McEnroe's answer by Sunday. If required. I think it
:49:38. > :50:07.needs to be sooner than that. This is quietly building, isn't it?
:50:08. > :50:39.Potentially, this could be an epic match.
:50:40. > :50:56.Djokovic appears to have settled into his serving with them. --
:50:57. > :51:01.rhythm. Three aces. He has not missed a first serve yet.
:51:02. > :51:06.Considering the fact at the end of 2010, at three in the world, he
:51:07. > :51:10.served more double faults than aces, this is a phenomenal turnaround. He
:51:11. > :51:20.changed his motion of it. And it has become a weapon for him, dependable.
:51:21. > :51:28.Didn't need to play it. It was going out. He swung too hard and did not
:51:29. > :51:53.need to hit it as hard, either, so really mishandled that.
:51:54. > :52:01.Two dodgy points in a row. When you're thinking about the shot, it
:52:02. > :52:04.was butchered there and then you throw in the double. Don't want to
:52:05. > :52:37.do that against this guy. This is a very untidy game from
:52:38. > :52:41.Dimitrov. Slightly off track. It's so strange because he started the
:52:42. > :52:46.match so well. This looks like a first game match coming out here in
:52:47. > :52:48.the semifinals, but he has played well so far but the last three
:52:49. > :53:22.points have been awful. Boris Becker delighted with his
:53:23. > :53:26.manner. He played every point with Djokovic and he will be puffing his
:53:27. > :53:33.chest out a, because that was a good game there. Normally, at this level,
:53:34. > :53:39.you may play one, possibly too bad points, but it's very rare with top
:53:40. > :53:45.players, that they play three or four like you did there. Djokovic
:53:46. > :53:49.didn't really in that game. To maintain composure, we said it was
:53:50. > :53:56.important. That was a loss of a different moment, wasn't it? That
:53:57. > :54:00.first volley, it was such a gimme. He shouldn't have had it in the
:54:01. > :54:05.first place. Then he tried to hit it too hard. Clearly, it bothered him
:54:06. > :54:09.and any double-faulted. The wind picked up a little bit. When you
:54:10. > :54:13.start getting nervous, you have got to keep your feet moving. He looked
:54:14. > :54:26.flat-footed on a couple of balls. And he got anxious. I was lucky to
:54:27. > :54:30.do half an hour by radio show last night with my idol, this great man,
:54:31. > :54:36.Rod Laver. To his right, Jack Nicklaus. That is John Lloyd's
:54:37. > :54:39.playing partner. He has three grass courts at his home in Florida. One
:54:40. > :55:03.as good as Wimbledon. Still hasn't missed a first serve.
:55:04. > :55:30.Five aces. 11 out of 11. Playing with intent.
:55:31. > :55:59.It doesn't appear like a lot of happened so far in some ways and,
:56:00. > :56:04.yet, this is perfection from Djokovic. He's not giving Dimitrov
:56:05. > :56:07.what he wants, a look at his second serve because he knows Dimitrov will
:56:08. > :56:33.pummel it. Brilliant, brilliant. When you think of 2010, I remember
:56:34. > :56:37.the French Open, he could barely get the serve in court. It was
:56:38. > :56:42.embarrassing. Then he corrected it, from that motion. Now, what a weapon
:56:43. > :56:45.his service. Last game with the tennis balls here. Djokovic will
:56:46. > :57:48.fancy this. another one when you are volley
:57:49. > :58:12.against Novak Djokovic. Brilliant. Both players. Look at this.
:58:13. > :58:25.One wonders how long Roger Rasheed will be happy being so open? This is
:58:26. > :58:33.the first semifinal, a Grand Slam, Australia, Novak Djokovic and his
:58:34. > :58:39.people would have been listening to exactly what was said and the game
:58:40. > :58:45.plan, against Djokovic, was going to be exactly the same game plan
:58:46. > :58:53.against Murray. What really changed things for Dimitrov... As we see how
:58:54. > :58:59.they got here. A one-handed sliced backhand. It drove Murray absolutely
:59:00. > :59:06.crazy, that shot. The best executed one-handed backhand slice I have
:59:07. > :59:13.seen for years. We saw Stan Wawrinka do well. Roger, magical. But, this
:59:14. > :59:18.guy has got to figure out a way to use that shot. Test Novak, force
:59:19. > :59:23.them into uncomfortable positions, like he was able to do so
:59:24. > :59:30.successfully against Murray. Eventually, this will change but he
:59:31. > :59:35.is 15 out of 15, first serve. Unbelievable. It's tough to break a
:59:36. > :59:40.guy when you don't miss a symbol -- single one of them. New tennis balls
:59:41. > :59:50.now. Let's see if that changes anything.
:59:51. > :59:56.Another room I think you should change. If you toss .com you should
:59:57. > :00:01.hit it. I have been saying that for years, absolutely. As someone who
:00:02. > :00:43.has done that, I definitely don't agree with that.
:00:44. > :00:58.That wind is making life difficult for both guys. He is having a really
:00:59. > :01:04.tough time with it. It has got into his head here, part of why he lost
:01:05. > :01:12.his serve and played such a poor game. This is unbelievable! It
:01:13. > :01:19.really is. He is in this zone now. Presumably he would not be
:01:20. > :01:26.thinking... It is tricky out there, with the wind.
:01:27. > :01:53.Such a good shot! Safe. Flat over the low part of the net. So smart,
:01:54. > :02:01.the way he plays. The way he moves, great decision maker. He is not
:02:02. > :02:03.going to beat himself. This guy is going to have to lift his game,
:02:04. > :03:05.Dimitrov, quickly. You can see the great skills he has
:03:06. > :03:09.when he is able to come up with the right answer with the drop shot
:03:10. > :03:34.after he overran the ball. First ace in this match. 50th for
:03:35. > :03:39.the tournament. And 51 follows. He manages to hold which will make
:03:40. > :03:46.Djokovic serve for the first set at least. Dimitrov is from Bulgaria,
:03:47. > :03:52.from the south, not far from the borders of Greece and Turkey. Less
:03:53. > :03:56.than 100,000 people in that town. To say here is a big deal in that
:03:57. > :04:03.country is an understatement. Went to Paris as a teenager. He made the
:04:04. > :04:08.sacrifice, just as Murray at 15 went to Barcelona. Novak Djokovic went to
:04:09. > :04:12.an academy in Germany. This is the price you pay to be an expert in
:04:13. > :04:16.your field and to be handsomely rewarded. We have seen him in the
:04:17. > :04:22.last four weeks turn into a global star. I do not think a lot of people
:04:23. > :04:28.would think that is a horrible thing to happen, to leave Bulgaria and go
:04:29. > :04:35.to Paris! To leave home. You missed your mum and dad, didn't you? Of
:04:36. > :04:41.course. I did not go away until I was 18. After college, you have more
:04:42. > :04:47.respect. You stayed in the Wimbledon YMCA. Nothing against that, but
:04:48. > :04:55.didn't you stay there? I stayed in different places and that was one of
:04:56. > :05:03.them. I had to save cash. We had -- we will have to put a blue plaque on
:05:04. > :05:52.it. I stayed there as well. Where were we? Serving for the set.
:05:53. > :06:03.UMPIRE: Mr Dimitrov is challenging the call. I do stand the need to
:06:04. > :06:11.come over the ball and go for it and mix it up -- I do understand.
:06:12. > :06:13.Especially with the wind. Certainly liking what he is seeing so far,
:06:14. > :06:37.Boris. Interesting on that serve, he
:06:38. > :06:44.altered his old toss because of the sun and only 95mph but got the job
:06:45. > :06:54.done. Dimitrov has got to pick it up sooner, take advantage. He backed
:06:55. > :07:20.off that shot. Once again, smart play by Novak.
:07:21. > :07:27.This is tough blustery conditions for both players. Centre Court not
:07:28. > :07:30.traditionally known for that. It is blowing a bit today. Novak Djokovic
:07:31. > :07:56.has played a faultless set. That is a rugged set of tennis from
:07:57. > :08:02.a former champion with a former champion in the box. 6-4, Djokovic.
:08:03. > :08:08.Dimitrov will have to change something here otherwise he is going
:08:09. > :08:16.to be done. We have talked about struggles... But is too harsh a word
:08:17. > :08:23.but it has been a while since Novak Djokovic has won a major. 18 months.
:08:24. > :08:31.He won the Australian in January, 2013. He plays the greatest
:08:32. > :08:35.clay-court match in the fifth at the French to Nadal. He comes to
:08:36. > :08:43.Wimbledon and losers to Andy Murray in the finals. Murray plays the
:08:44. > :08:48.tournament of his life. Goes to the Open, runner-up there. Goes to
:08:49. > :08:55.Australia, loses the quarters. Runner-up in Roland Garros. What is
:08:56. > :09:03.wrong with Novak Djokovic? He has lost it! Indian Wells, Miami and
:09:04. > :09:08.Rome, they are also pretty big ones. Just beneath the Grand Slam
:09:09. > :09:12.Championships. If someone from the ATP Tour is not going to come and
:09:13. > :09:20.arrest me for saying is not going to come and arrest me for saying when
:09:21. > :09:29.he first tired Boris Becker, he won Australia three years in a row. 25
:09:30. > :09:40.match winning streak he had. Then you come through. Boris has surgery,
:09:41. > :09:44.he is not around. Then they both go together and finally he wins with
:09:45. > :09:50.Boris in Rome and everything is starting to settle down. Then a
:09:51. > :11:51.little vacation, paid vacation perhaps.
:11:52. > :11:58.His fastest serve of the championship, 135. Great start. He
:11:59. > :12:04.will be pleased with that. This will be interesting. He has won seemingly
:12:05. > :12:10.pretty much every point on his serve. This is exactly the
:12:11. > :12:17.conditions I think that Dimitrov does not want to play in. Windy,
:12:18. > :12:18.hot. He is not completely sure if he is fit enough to deal with this guy
:12:19. > :12:44.if it goes to five. He thinks he is. This is a surprising amount of total
:12:45. > :13:33.mis-hits already. Goes to show, if you place it
:13:34. > :14:19.correctly, you do not need to hit it that hard.
:14:20. > :14:22.He hopes his decision-making process starts to improve. That was the
:14:23. > :15:32.right moment to go big there. Annoyed at himself there. He had
:15:33. > :15:50.plenty of time on that ball. 0.3 seconds. Tonnes of time!
:15:51. > :15:59.You talk about the gulf inexperience between these two. Novak Djokovic,
:16:00. > :16:05.44 titles overall. Dimitrov has four, all of which have been gained
:16:06. > :16:10.in the last nine, ten months. When Dimitrov was winning the juniors,
:16:11. > :16:20.Djokovic already a Grand Slam champion.
:16:21. > :16:28.The same can be said for the women's final tomorrow. It just
:16:29. > :16:34.appears to be counting, at the moment. On this stage, with the
:16:35. > :16:38.rarefied air that comes with the last four. It is different from the
:16:39. > :17:05.quarterfinals, it is different from the fourth round.
:17:06. > :17:14.That is the type of play we have seen more often from Dimitrov to
:17:15. > :17:22.make him think he will win numerous Grand Slams. He has got to catch the
:17:23. > :17:39.line on his own serve. He is hanging in there.
:17:40. > :17:47.These are dangerous times indeed. Djokovic is doing his best brick
:17:48. > :17:51.wall impression. He is making no mistakes. He saying, what are you
:17:52. > :18:24.going to do about it, kid? Dimitrov has never gone two sets
:18:25. > :19:13.down and won a match. This is a big set.
:19:14. > :19:19.The condition affecting him it seems almost as much as his opponent. He
:19:20. > :20:15.had better be careful here. There is that return again, the best
:20:16. > :20:53.in the business, the best ever. Really desperate times for Grigor
:20:54. > :20:58.Dimitrov. He has not settled into this match. A lot of that has been
:20:59. > :21:02.to do with the work of the former Wimbledon champion and world number
:21:03. > :21:03.one and top seed here, Novak Djokovic. Break point here in the
:21:04. > :21:25.third game of the second set. The net cord and the mis-hit from
:21:26. > :21:31.Djokovic will contribute to the sense of injustice here. It is
:21:32. > :21:36.windy, sunny, my opponent is playing well. Dimitrov is not being given a
:21:37. > :21:41.chance to express himself. He seems to be trying to force the issue a
:21:42. > :21:46.little bit too much. He has to make the plays, but I think there are
:21:47. > :21:51.times when his shot selection is not right. He is going for shots when
:21:52. > :21:58.the percentages are not in his favour. You have to pick the spots
:21:59. > :22:03.at the right time. Is it nerves? We have got to give credit to the
:22:04. > :22:08.number one seed. He is so sharp and focused and so prepared for this. He
:22:09. > :22:14.is hitting the ball incredibly well. We mentioned 19 straight first
:22:15. > :22:18.serves he hit. He controlled things. He senses, as a lot of other people
:22:19. > :22:25.do, but clearly he senses it better than anyone how wound up Dimitrov
:22:26. > :22:28.is. Confirmation of that. Second serve points one is always going to
:22:29. > :22:36.be critical area because that illustrates who is winning from the
:22:37. > :22:41.back of the court -- second serve points won. Serving 61%, Dimitrov,
:22:42. > :22:48.but he feels he is not serving that well and it is getting to him. He is
:22:49. > :22:57.23 and we are supposed to have seen a change of the guard, the big four.
:22:58. > :23:03.Nick Kyrgios beating Nadal. This is a massive test for Grigor Dimitrov.
:23:04. > :23:33.The conditions are definitely not what he wanted.
:23:34. > :23:43.SUE BARKER: On BBC Two, we are leaving Centre Court. This semifinal
:23:44. > :23:48.continues on BBC One. Here on BBC Two, we will take you to Court
:23:49. > :23:53.Number One for a semifinal in the men's's doubles. It features the
:23:54. > :23:58.Bryan brothers. They have won it all. They are looking for their 16th
:23:59. > :24:06.Grand Slam title. They are up against the French pair. It is 5-5.
:24:07. > :24:12.Let us just join our commentators, Peter Fleming and David Mercer.
:24:13. > :24:19.It has been a good recovery from the French pair. At one stage, they were
:24:20. > :24:26.4-2 down. The Bryan twins had a point to get the second point at
:24:27. > :24:31.5-2. Mike Bryan lost his serve. It was 4-4. Since then, games have gone
:24:32. > :24:38.with serve. Michael Llodra, the left-hander of the French pairing.
:24:39. > :24:44.He has had treatment on his hip. It does not seem to be bothering him
:24:45. > :24:48.too much. Having been outplayed in the first six games, they were
:24:49. > :24:54.struggling to hold serve, they have come back well, Peter. Yes, they
:24:55. > :25:04.have. They have settled in. Perhaps a little nervous to start this
:25:05. > :25:09.match, as you might expect. It is usually the case that once you get a
:25:10. > :25:22.sweat going, you get a little fatigued, the nerves disappear. Mike
:25:23. > :26:05.Bryan lost his serve last time. A little bit of pressure on him now.
:26:06. > :26:09.Mike is the right-hander of the twins. He is the older by two
:26:10. > :26:34.minutes. 36 years of age. Total mis-hit by Mahut. Quite often,
:26:35. > :26:38.that is an odd shot to deal with. A strange spin on the ball. It
:26:39. > :27:13.descended very quickly. A really good second serve from Mike
:27:14. > :27:39.Bryan. Jamming Llodra. Don't be surprised if this is the
:27:40. > :28:03.first of several tie-breaks we see today.
:28:04. > :28:28.Overhit the lobs. Good idea. Great picked up from Mike Bryan. -- pick
:28:29. > :28:56.up. To no avail. Michael Llodra won this title in
:28:57. > :29:41.2007. French have won against serve of Bob
:29:42. > :29:45.Ryan. -- Bryan. Timely. The only man out there who has not won a Grand
:29:46. > :30:09.Slam doubles title because he's been serving from the other end.
:30:10. > :30:18.He will for ever be remembered for losing that final set against John
:30:19. > :31:37.is on Court number 18. Llodra that I'm doing a little more
:31:38. > :31:45.than just freezing. -- that time. That's a bonus in the tie-break.
:31:46. > :31:49.It's time to win the point. Remarkably, four straight points
:31:50. > :32:36.against the serve in this tie-break. return nearly dissected his
:32:37. > :32:42.opponent, his partner, he thinks it might be out. Somewhat wishful
:32:43. > :32:48.thinking. Can't take those challenges with
:32:49. > :33:27.you, so why not? Pinpoint accuracy on the volley.
:33:28. > :34:02.Right on the baseline. The twins win the first set
:34:03. > :34:05.tie-breaker. 7-4. They have the lead.
:34:06. > :34:10.SUE BARKER: The Bryan brothers, so popular at Wimbledon, on their way,
:34:11. > :34:13.taking the first set tie-break. The first of the men's semifinal is
:34:14. > :34:18.taking place on Centre Court. You can watch this on BBC1. Novak
:34:19. > :34:22.Djokovic I break and set up on Grigor Dimitrov. It's all going his
:34:23. > :34:38.way on Centre Court on BBC1. On the red button, we have Paes and
:34:39. > :34:43.Stepanek at against Pospisil and Sock on the red button. That's on
:34:44. > :34:45.the red button on Court number three. Here we are heading back to
:34:46. > :34:58.Court Number One. A very interesting opens set.
:34:59. > :35:03.Winning four of the last five points of the tie-break, the Bryan
:35:04. > :35:09.brothers. Like all great teams, we are missing the twins at the moment.
:35:10. > :35:14.They have nipped off a bathroom break. It's a question of producing
:35:15. > :35:23.your best tennis when it matters most. Exactly right. That boils down
:35:24. > :35:33.to confidence. These guys have an abundance of that. Bob is married to
:35:34. > :35:39.Michelle. Mike is married to Lucille.
:35:40. > :35:46.No need for an umbrella today. They might need one tomorrow, I
:35:47. > :35:55.understand, but need a little bit of shade today.
:35:56. > :36:03.98 titles together. It's a shame it's not 99, isn't it? That would be
:36:04. > :36:08.a wonderful way to reach 100, to win Wimbledon for a fourth time. If they
:36:09. > :36:17.win here, maybe they will have to win at the U.S. Open. Maybe never
:36:18. > :36:20.try again until they get to the majors. Play with different partners
:36:21. > :36:46.through the summer for a bit of fun. LAUGHTER
:36:47. > :37:12.Lovely! The head that on a line drive
:37:13. > :37:23.trajectory, app over Llodra in a hurry. Incidentally, in case you
:37:24. > :37:26.were wondering what would have happened if Llodra's racket had hit
:37:27. > :37:29.the ball over the net, they would have still lost to the point. You do
:37:30. > :37:53.have to have a racket in your hand to count.
:37:54. > :38:01.In your previous guise, David, did you ever have to call that on
:38:02. > :38:08.anyone? No, I never did. A few strange ones. The ball going back
:38:09. > :38:12.over the net when it bounces to your side and then bounces back. You are
:38:13. > :38:20.allowed to lean over and I remember that happen to you and John playing
:38:21. > :38:25.Hewitt and McMillan. At Wimbledon. It bounced their side of the net and
:38:26. > :38:33.then it has hit back over to your side of the net. Really? It delivers
:38:34. > :38:38.better in his memory, clearly. If it was the first time we played, yes.
:38:39. > :39:42.That match has been banished! Mahut, the young man of the quartet.
:39:43. > :40:07.32. His brother is 34. His opponents, 36.
:40:08. > :40:16.Going to hit the ball through the Bryans, but a very quick hands.
:40:17. > :40:57.Better off forcing them to run. service games. A repeat of last
:40:58. > :41:03.year's French Open Men's Doubles final which the Bryan twins won on a
:41:04. > :41:12.final set tie-break, where they played the best-of-3. Year, the
:41:13. > :41:17.best-of-5, of course. -- here. Something different there from
:41:18. > :41:33.Llodra. A delicate one looking for the angle. Yes, the oft angle but he
:41:34. > :41:41.got away with it. He has made it. Squeezed down the
:41:42. > :42:45.line. UMPIRE: New balls, please. A
:42:46. > :42:50.tell-tale sign their because Llodra ordinarily very quick around the
:42:51. > :42:55.court. That time, he was pulled up to get up to the short angle, but
:42:56. > :43:06.not nearly as quickly as we might have expected him to. They are very
:43:07. > :43:09.good at using and exploiting it. The number of times they have a fairly
:43:10. > :43:13.comfortable volley at the net, rather than hitting it did, they
:43:14. > :43:18.will go for a short angle to ensure their opponents get no chance to get
:43:19. > :43:25.the ball back into play. That's because they play very close to the
:43:26. > :43:33.net. They both jump well. So, therefore, hard opponents to play.
:43:34. > :43:35.David McPherson in the middle there. The Australian coach for many a
:43:36. > :45:55.year. Once again, very difficult to get it
:45:56. > :46:04.through. Either one of the Bryan brothers.
:46:05. > :46:19.You do get a feeling he's feeling it. Right hip. Feeling a little
:46:20. > :46:49.stiff at the moment, Llodra. What acrobatics! It sets up a break
:46:50. > :46:56.point. Fantastic. It didn't look at all as though Michael was going to
:46:57. > :47:02.reach this ball. Miles away. What control. You sure don't practice
:47:03. > :47:38.those shots. Good deep second serve. And when
:47:39. > :47:46.your partner is struggling physically, you really do need to
:47:47. > :48:28.take on extra responsibility and Mahut certainly did there.
:48:29. > :48:39.Great return. Instinctively moves to cover the middle of the court. When
:48:40. > :49:00.your partner is taken wide, that's what you have to do.
:49:01. > :49:11.That was a shocking error from Llodra. It looked to be a very easy
:49:12. > :49:15.smash. Mis-hit it. The Bryans in the point. Second break point of the
:49:16. > :49:48.game. Things looking good for the
:49:49. > :49:52.defending champions, looking to win their 16th Grand Slam doubles title
:49:53. > :51:40.together. Their fourth Wimbledon, 2006. Ten and 13.
:51:41. > :51:43.First a double fault of the match from the American pair. The French
:51:44. > :52:01.have just saved one. So the chance to break back, just as
:52:02. > :53:09.they did in the first set. Played it off his knees, didn't he?
:53:10. > :54:10.On all fours. That serve had a bit of power to it.
:54:11. > :54:15.121. That is very fast. You expect to see Bob in these sorts of
:54:16. > :55:01.figures. Two break points saved, then.
:55:02. > :55:06.SUE BARKER: It's all going the Bryans way on Court Number One. We
:55:07. > :55:11.are going to leave this match on BBC Two. You can continue watching over
:55:12. > :55:15.on the red button. We will be heading off to see Jamie Murray's
:55:16. > :55:22.Mixed Doubles match at the moment but first let's update you on Centre
:55:23. > :55:28.Court where it is now tied at 1-1. Dimitrov broke back to take the
:55:29. > :55:33.second set 6-3. 1-1 in the men's semifinal. That's on BBC1. Here we
:55:34. > :55:38.are heading to court number 12 to see Jamie Murray and his Australian
:55:39. > :55:43.partner Dellacqua up against Max Mirnyi and his partner. Jamie held
:55:44. > :56:04.as opening serve so let's join it in the second game.
:56:05. > :56:14.It's nicely done. An important opening game. All four players
:56:15. > :56:22.getting used to the conditions here. Murray got a nice cold here early
:56:23. > :56:34.on. Interesting how both of the male partners are playing in the deuce
:56:35. > :56:40.court. As a matter of fact, Skupski and Broady and the team that they
:56:41. > :56:48.built last night -- beat last night... It never used to be the
:56:49. > :56:54.case, did it? No. I think they realise more points are actually
:56:55. > :56:58.played in the deuce court. It just depends which caught you feel more
:56:59. > :57:06.comfortable in. Normally, if a man plays in the right court, in Men's
:57:07. > :57:12.Doubles, stay with the position you like best. Max Mirnyi has a wealth
:57:13. > :57:17.of experience to draw upon, former world number one doubles player back
:57:18. > :57:26.in 2003. Top 20 singles player. We all tend to forget that in 2003, as
:57:27. > :57:35.well. Joint 18 in the world. Nowadays, of course, he focuses on
:57:36. > :57:45.the doubles. Run at Wimbledon in 2003. Mixed Doubles with Serena
:57:46. > :57:57.Williams in 1998. Also 2007 and 13. Still having a lot of success.
:57:58. > :58:04.That's a good call. Jamie Murray playing with Dellacqua. A very good
:58:05. > :58:13.victory on Centre Court yesterday afternoon. Jamie, in particular, was
:58:14. > :58:22.outstanding in their victory over Tecau and Mirza. They just moved a
:58:23. > :58:27.little too early there. Murray playing doubles and singles back in
:58:28. > :58:32.the day. Dellacqua still does that. She is not a doubles specialist.
:58:33. > :58:41.Ranked 12 in the world doubles. 36, a career-high, in singles.
:58:42. > :58:49.Interesting that Jamie Murray moved a little bit too soon. I'm always
:58:50. > :58:51.thinking he dodges all over the place. It's pretty hard to know what
:58:52. > :59:12.he's going to do. He got away with it. That was quite
:59:13. > :59:21.something. He is so tall. For him to be lobbed, that was almost like a
:59:22. > :59:36.carry. You're allowed to do that as long as it's one stroke.
:59:37. > :59:47.And again. That was a bad bounce. It is very windy out there today.
:59:48. > :59:51.Murray and Dellacqua have not quite started as well as they did
:59:52. > :59:57.yesterday. Of course, they are up to date against a fast the more
:59:58. > :00:01.experienced pair. As far as Mirnyi is concerned. His partner is
:00:02. > :00:07.relatively young. Chan from Chinese Taipei. Only 21 years of age. Her
:00:08. > :00:10.best results have been in the doubles, third round of the French
:00:11. > :00:17.Open in 2012, and the Australian Open earlier this year. Her sister
:00:18. > :00:20.is also a professional tennis player. They play doubles together
:00:21. > :00:27.as well but she is a little bit better. The 2007 Australian Open and
:00:28. > :00:30.the US Open. She has won ten WTA titles so I guess it might spread to
:00:31. > :00:40.other sister who has had a lot of success and you can get feedback
:00:41. > :00:51.from? I watched her sister playing at the US Open. They were playing
:00:52. > :00:55.very well. They hit quite a lot of high moon balls, almost. That seems
:00:56. > :01:08.to have gone out of the game. We will see if one side is easier to
:01:09. > :01:40.play from than the other. Good hands. They certainly seemed to
:01:41. > :01:44.really enjoy themselves on Centre Court yesterday. A lot of
:01:45. > :01:52.communication and smiles. You always play your best tennis when you are
:01:53. > :01:57.enjoying yourself. The thing about mixed on Centre Court and number one
:01:58. > :02:05.court, you have an enthusiastic audience there and if you can start
:02:06. > :02:09.off with some good tennis, the crowd is enthralled and they get so up.
:02:10. > :02:15.All of that emotion helps motivate the players.
:02:16. > :02:21.It is not quite so easy coming back down to a court without too many
:02:22. > :02:23.spectators, especially when you have got really serious matches going on
:02:24. > :02:43.that are distracting people. Of course, you have got a couple of
:02:44. > :02:47.pretty important singles matches on Centre Court today. A lot of people
:02:48. > :02:50.watching on Henman Hill on the big video screen at the side of Court
:02:51. > :02:52.Number One. This is sparsely populated for the quarterfinal
:02:53. > :03:08.match. That was a massive hit. She missed
:03:09. > :03:13.it by a mile. It is always a challenge, anyway, at Wimbledon to
:03:14. > :03:19.play one match on Centre Court with all of the incredible on beyond this
:03:20. > :03:40.and then to come back down to an outside court -- incredible and
:03:41. > :03:43.beyond. That is a good hold. Chan played with her sister in Eastbourne
:03:44. > :03:50.and they won that tournament. Really good effort. They have won a couple
:03:51. > :04:01.of moments Bill tournaments this year. The Malaysian Open as well.
:04:02. > :04:07.When the wind blows, it costs strongly from the left to the right
:04:08. > :04:12.of our picture. That could be in! I was just going to say, she would
:04:13. > :04:17.have had plenty of practice in Eastbourne with the wind. But this
:04:18. > :04:26.year, it was beautiful. Normally it is very windy on the coast. They can
:04:27. > :04:33.get fierce breezes there. I am not sure breeze is the operative word!
:04:34. > :04:37.That is how we British would describe it. Howling gale. Today it
:04:38. > :04:45.is very gusty. There are patches when it is still.
:04:46. > :04:53.Murray is a former champion at Wimbledon in 2007. Reached the final
:04:54. > :05:08.of the US Open the following season as well.
:05:09. > :05:19.That is not what he wanted. Watching him play mixed with Liezel Huber,
:05:20. > :05:25.she likes to give instructions to her partner. As I suggested, he
:05:26. > :05:31.dodges this way and that way and chases. She was getting so
:05:32. > :05:42.frustrated with him. Like, that is my boat! You have to run for that!
:05:43. > :05:57.-- that is my ball. But they seem to be perfectly happy.
:05:58. > :06:06.Too bad! Everything went wrong for him in that. The one time he hit
:06:07. > :06:31.exactly the right shot, it hit the tape.
:06:32. > :06:39.It has been a good start by both pairs, particularly Mirnyi and Chan.
:06:40. > :06:44.Yesterday it was so obvious Murray really excels in the role of
:06:45. > :06:48.dominating as far as doubles players are concerned. He is finding it
:06:49. > :06:51.difficult today to find the same energy, the same timing, the same
:06:52. > :07:00.dominance in very different conditions. I tell you, towards the
:07:01. > :07:05.end of the second week of Wimbledon, when the courts are
:07:06. > :07:10.really dry and they can be also a little bit slick because the grass
:07:11. > :07:14.has burnt, especially as it has been baking hot the last few days, you
:07:15. > :07:19.can have a terrible time getting into a match, especially if it is
:07:20. > :07:25.blowing seriously. It is just one of those things. I guess you have to
:07:26. > :07:31.try and get a lot of first serves in and get up to the net so you are not
:07:32. > :07:40.skating around on the baseline. But very often rallies are not very
:07:41. > :07:43.long. I saw Judy Murray around before so I am sure she is watching
:07:44. > :08:22.someone. Yeah, I do see her. He went the right way, down the
:08:23. > :08:25.middle. There was a gap. There is Judy Murray. She has made a point of
:08:26. > :08:43.supporting Jamie over Andy almost. We saw a little bit of the skill
:08:44. > :08:49.that Max Mirnyi has on his backhand side. Very powerful shot. Just a
:08:50. > :09:05.little bit of lift. Pretty flat ball. Unusual.
:09:06. > :09:10.Everybody knows how good Max Mirnyi is that doubles. We tend to forget
:09:11. > :09:17.he was such a consistent performer in the singles. In the top 57
:09:18. > :09:21.straight years in the early 2000s. He has played with a lot of
:09:22. > :09:23.different doubles players including Jamie Murray. These two will know
:09:24. > :09:46.each other's games well. Once again, Jamie got a little
:09:47. > :09:51.unlucky. The net cord. Mirnyi and Chan have been rock solid so far.
:09:52. > :09:59.They have built a sizeable lead midway through this opening set.
:10:00. > :10:07.Yeah, I think that might have been a fault. They don't have Hawk-Eye
:10:08. > :10:15.here. He did not really hit it properly, that return. Well, I'm
:10:16. > :10:23.surprised the umpire did not make an overall because she likes to get
:10:24. > :10:27.into the act. That is a very sensible return. She is hitting into
:10:28. > :10:33.the wind and using the wind to allow the ball to be drawn back into the
:10:34. > :10:39.court. Very intelligent shot. She is playing well. I am quite impressed.
:10:40. > :11:22.Of course, Casey Dellacqua is a good doubles player. Lost in the second
:11:23. > :11:29.round of the singles to Agnieszka Radwanska in this championship. Lost
:11:30. > :11:30.in the quarterfinals of the doubles to be second seeds. A former
:11:31. > :11:48.finalist here, 2013. Might have gone out. Casey Dellacqua
:11:49. > :11:57.is an excellent doubles player. Plays so well with her partner. They
:11:58. > :12:06.really combine well. But they had to play a very tough team.
:12:07. > :12:27.Yes, she is very ably supporting Max Mirnyi in this opening set. Striking
:12:28. > :12:33.the ball with real purpose which is not easy given the breezy
:12:34. > :12:43.conditions. It is probably an advantage for her with Compaq swings
:12:44. > :12:47.-- compact swings. Fittingly ball so flat with next to no backswing.
:12:48. > :12:52.Trouble happens in the wind when you take a nice big swing and you go to
:12:53. > :12:56.hit the ball and the ball is not worth it was supposed to be because
:12:57. > :13:01.the wind has moved it -- the ball is not where it was supposed to be. She
:13:02. > :13:06.is compensating well for that. It is funny, I don't know how much... We
:13:07. > :13:10.are think of the Australians being able to cope with the wind because
:13:11. > :13:15.there are so many windy conditions down there. Also the Floridians get
:13:16. > :13:23.plenty of wind to practice in. I have no idea what playing conditions
:13:24. > :13:31.are like in Chinese Taipei or China for that matter. Obviously, they
:13:32. > :13:51.have a lot of rain. Serving for the opening set.
:13:52. > :14:02.It is not like they really fluid service action. But she gets good
:14:03. > :14:27.placement on both of her first and second serves.
:14:28. > :14:33.She played in the lady doubles with her sister but lost in the first
:14:34. > :14:50.round. That is well played. When he is
:14:51. > :14:58.active at the net like that, he plays his best tennis. Nice. So
:14:59. > :15:03.close to the net. Sometimes get a little jammed when you are sitting
:15:04. > :15:12.on the net like that. Doesn't matter what you are used to.
:15:13. > :15:26.I have watched her practice a lot of times. -- him practice. He gets his
:15:27. > :15:34.coach to fireballs at him. That is why his reactions are quite good.
:15:35. > :15:38.But has not got his timing so far. There is another excellent serve,
:15:39. > :15:45.two inches from the line, into the body. It has been an excellent set
:15:46. > :16:04.of tennis by both Max Mirnyi and Chan.
:16:05. > :16:17.She had plenty of time. Surely you have got to lob Dellacqua. Maybe she
:16:18. > :16:23.thought he would be dashing over to the other side of the net. She got
:16:24. > :16:42.tied up in the shot Jamie hit which was difficult to handle.
:16:43. > :16:54.Too good. That was an excellent set of tennis. They combined beautifully
:16:55. > :17:01.together. Often you can look on paper and suggest players can play
:17:02. > :17:24.well together, but Mirnyi and Chan did. Well,
:17:25. > :17:27.well together, but Mirnyi and Chan On Centre Court, it is 3-3 in the
:17:28. > :17:35.third set. Dimitrov with a break point. You can watch the semifinal
:17:36. > :17:41.on BBC One. That is on Centre Court on BBC One. A match we were watching
:17:42. > :17:48.on BBC Two out on Court Number One, the Bryan brothers. They are two
:17:49. > :17:54.sets to love up and a break of serve. That is the score on Court
:17:55. > :18:01.Number One. The Bryan brothers in control. That matches on the
:18:02. > :18:04.Number One. The Bryan brothers in heading back to court number 12.
:18:05. > :18:10.A lot of work for Murray and Dellacqua to do here. Whose
:18:11. > :18:10.responsibility is that? Is it very much down to the mail to say, we
:18:11. > :18:14.responsibility is that? Is it very need to change selling? Do both
:18:15. > :18:20.players take responsibility? -- is it up to the man to say, we need to
:18:21. > :18:25.change something? It happens that the wind is very helpful to
:18:26. > :18:34.Murray's serve. It is not so helpful to Dellacqua because with her
:18:35. > :18:36.left-handed serve, she is having to go right into the wind.
:18:37. > :18:45.Just as I said that, that is one of the issues, when the wind is sort of
:18:46. > :19:01.behind you, the second serves. That is the perfect serve. He used
:19:02. > :19:07.the wind well. He has served that every single time. Swinging it out
:19:08. > :19:14.wide. Gathering speed as it cuts across the court. Just to make
:19:15. > :19:27.matters worse, that is rubbing salt into the wound.
:19:28. > :19:36.The volley from Jamie did not too much on it. That
:19:37. > :20:15.The volley from Jamie did not was such a good return.
:20:16. > :20:24.It was a wonderful return from Mirnyi in the first place. How
:20:25. > :20:32.clever of her to scoop that back. Big trouble here.
:20:33. > :20:40.A little apology from Jamie, but it was the right shot to play. The
:20:41. > :20:46.return you are always looking for, the little chip that floats, makes
:20:47. > :20:56.the volley very easy. Break point saved.
:20:57. > :21:08.It looked too easy that one. What happened was the wind made the ball
:21:09. > :21:11.drop on Chan. You have always got to keep the feet moving when it is
:21:12. > :21:30.windy. She was a little static there.
:21:31. > :21:36.Not quite serving with the same ferocity of yesterday. I guess that
:21:37. > :21:41.is one of the adjustments you have to make when it is very windy. Take
:21:42. > :21:48.place off the serve, make sure you get a higher percentage of first
:21:49. > :21:57.serves in. This team would have... I am sorry, Mirnyi and Chan would have
:21:58. > :22:04.chosen... The others chose to serve first. These chose the side. Mirnyi
:22:05. > :22:12.can power his way through the wind as a right-hander. So they chose
:22:13. > :22:14.which side was good for them. I don't think it was the best side for
:22:15. > :22:45.Murray and Dellacqua. Discussion about where Mirnyi is
:22:46. > :22:53.going to serve, what Chan might do in terms of her movements. That was
:22:54. > :23:01.a good call as well. Who normally decides, Virginia? Is it the server
:23:02. > :23:07.or the player at the net? Usually the server because you get a feel so
:23:08. > :23:13.you explain to your partner where you are serving and they know what
:23:14. > :23:14.to expect. That is a lovely shot! I think that is the best shot of the
:23:15. > :23:32.match. left at the net. That was definitely
:23:33. > :23:38.Dellacqua's best shot. Maybe she is beginning to feel the ball now.
:23:39. > :23:52.Almost came in! Nice powerful serve. 112mph. A lot of top-spin. The
:23:53. > :23:59.courts are nice and firm. The ball really getting up on Dellacqua.
:24:00. > :24:04.Tough to control. Having the women in the left court, it has not been
:24:05. > :24:10.easy for them. Everyone is serving pretty well into the left court.
:24:11. > :24:19.Chan stands nearly as close to the net as Jamie Murray does. That is
:24:20. > :24:24.why! Macs will tell her, I have got the lob, you concentrate on the
:24:25. > :24:38.central channel. That was good doubles. -- Max.
:24:39. > :25:00.She should have done better with the first volley. She got away with it
:25:01. > :25:10.because she hit an excellent second volley. Really good reactions. That
:25:11. > :25:11.was an important game. This has been the problem for Murray and
:25:12. > :25:25.Dellacqua, hers serve. That worked. Better serve. Her
:25:26. > :25:36.strength is really being negated by the way the wind is.
:25:37. > :25:46.Nice move. Dellacqua has had success in Mixed Doubles in the past. Won
:25:47. > :25:50.the French Open in 2011 with Scott Lipsky. She has been runner-up in
:25:51. > :25:59.the women's doubles at Wimbledon. She knows what is required. I think
:26:00. > :26:06.she is a deceptively good doubles player. We have seen very good
:26:07. > :27:07.service came from her here. It is not like she serves bullets.
:27:08. > :27:10.get this second set under way. That is why the communication is so
:27:11. > :27:16.important in doubles. If you do not start as well as you would want, you
:27:17. > :27:22.have got to build each other's confidence up. Absolutely. That is
:27:23. > :27:28.the first time she has held serve. She served better, a lot of good
:27:29. > :27:29.first serves. She mixed it up. Some into the body. Nothing wrong with
:27:30. > :27:32.those percentages. into the body. Nothing wrong with
:27:33. > :27:38.those That is what you are aiming for. You do not want to do -- what
:27:39. > :27:42.you do not want to do in doubles is serve second serves.
:27:43. > :27:53.you do not want to do in doubles is Well, you can see that Murray and
:27:54. > :27:59.Dellacqua... Exposing second serves quite erratically. I think in
:28:00. > :28:02.general most players take a little bit off their first serve and try to
:28:03. > :28:43.get a higher percentage of first serves in in doubles.
:28:44. > :28:52.It is a good smash. Not easy from that deep in the court. Look at the
:28:53. > :28:56.footwork, moving all of the time. Breezy conditions, very important.
:28:57. > :28:59.Watch the ball like a hawk and a little bit of spin. Perfectly
:29:00. > :30:02.placed. Looking right into the sun. does that. Very good hands from Max
:30:03. > :30:08.Mirnyi. Dellacqua was all over that. does that. Very good hands from Max
:30:09. > :30:11.Mirnyi. Dellacqua was all It's the ball in the right place, and flips
:30:12. > :30:30.it over her head. Superb game, that. I must say, she
:30:31. > :30:36.has excelled on serve in the match, because they have combined so well,
:30:37. > :30:41.a high percentage of first serves in, not allowed them much look at
:30:42. > :30:47.the second serve. Mirnyi has been dominant at the net.
:30:48. > :30:59.I like Mirnyi's attitude. He really pays full attention all the time.
:31:00. > :31:09.Thinking what he's doing, he is creative, his is good. -- his reflex
:31:10. > :31:17.is good. A gold medallist in the Olympics. That why held here, in
:31:18. > :31:24.Wimbledon. With Victoria Azarenka. That is right. A very proud member
:31:25. > :31:26.of the Belarus team, carried the flag in the opening ceremony, very
:31:27. > :31:40.highly regarded back home. There have been a handful of those
:31:41. > :31:42.already today, does not quite have the feel on the second serve that he
:31:43. > :31:59.would want. Murray and Mirnyi played a bit of
:32:00. > :32:03.doubles together a few seasons ago, but did not enjoy a lot of success.
:32:04. > :32:10.On paper, you would think they would, but they never really gelled.
:32:11. > :32:23.Certainly got a good horse without any spin on it. -- toss. I think
:32:24. > :33:03.that Mr game. I think Judy will be... Sunburned.
:33:04. > :33:10.That is sure, but she will also be delighted with the start Jamie and
:33:11. > :33:16.Casey have made in the second set. Nice the Jamie to have Judy as a
:33:17. > :33:19.mother, of course, and an experienced tennis coach. She can
:33:20. > :33:24.watch a match like this and then give you some feedback. Absolutely,
:33:25. > :33:28.she is a very good coach. She has been checking them out since they
:33:29. > :33:34.were knee-high to a grasshopper. They were very young when they
:33:35. > :33:39.started. I saw both the boys when they were very young playing, and
:33:40. > :33:45.they were so eager. They just wanted to be on the court all the time. Of
:33:46. > :33:53.course, they were very good. When they were the height of the net.
:33:54. > :33:58.They enjoyed it. It was always Jamie who was supposed to be the one, the
:33:59. > :34:12.older one, who was going to be the star.
:34:13. > :34:24.That was a fabulous lob. Just enough top-spin on that.
:34:25. > :34:28.Just perfect, she is using the wind exactly right, giving it a little
:34:29. > :34:47.more loft. This is the half chance that Murray
:34:48. > :35:05.and Dellacqua have been searching for.
:35:06. > :35:12.That was not an easy volley, as a matter of fact. It looked easy, it
:35:13. > :35:20.was shoulder height, but the wind was just holding it. Very easy to
:35:21. > :35:30.reach that ball and dump it in the net. A solid shot.
:35:31. > :35:41.Oh yes. Superb hands from Murray. Just a little slip at the most
:35:42. > :35:51.inopportune moment gave Chan no chance. Success with the previous
:35:52. > :36:00.lob, that was a superb blog as well. It it nicely, but right onto the
:36:01. > :36:01.reflex volley from Jamie. The half chance has turned into a golden
:36:02. > :36:12.opportunity here. Two break points. The umpire has overruled that, the
:36:13. > :36:46.line judge called it good initially. Just motoring along on his serve,
:36:47. > :36:49.Max Mirnyi. And suddenly, you miss a couple, you try a bit too much for
:36:50. > :37:06.things go wrong like that slip. Casey Dellacqua has got better. Max
:37:07. > :37:33.Mirnyi has gone off a little bit. Good footwork. Starting to cover the
:37:34. > :37:35.caught a little better now. A couple of great stretches from the two of
:37:36. > :37:59.them. A solid backhand return, wasn't it?
:38:00. > :38:29.It it so well, so firmly. Jamie suggesting that was a great
:38:30. > :38:53.serve, and it was. It had pace, spin and accuracy, lovely combination.
:38:54. > :39:18.How quickly things can change. In the opening set it was Mirnyi and
:39:19. > :39:29.Chan who were dominating, Murray and Dellacqua. A few little slips from
:39:30. > :39:37.the opposition, and she has taken advantage. She is pulling it all
:39:38. > :39:45.together. Jamie is liking that, you can show off at the net. He loves to
:39:46. > :39:49.stretch and dive. It is his strength, we did not see much of it
:39:50. > :39:53.in the opening set. Served a couple of doubles and therefore he was not
:39:54. > :39:55.able to express himself as freely as he has been able in the last 15-20
:39:56. > :40:14.minutes or so. Very different scenario for Chan.
:40:15. > :40:15.Having served out the opening set, she needs to hold here in the
:40:16. > :40:28.second. The wind did not keep that in that
:40:29. > :41:45.time. Got away from him. The wheels have
:41:46. > :41:50.really started to come off in the second set for Mirnyi and Chan. In
:41:51. > :41:58.conditions like this it is very difficult to work yourself back into
:41:59. > :42:41.points. Rapid-fire and over quickly, the points.
:42:42. > :43:03.Good footwork. UMPIRE: New balls, please.
:43:04. > :43:12.This is the moment of truth, as far as Jamie Murray is concerned.
:43:13. > :43:14.Serving to take us into a decider, and he has the advantage of new
:43:15. > :43:33.balls in hand. Well played. Always an option, to
:43:34. > :43:40.smash right down the middle of the court. Didn't really see the ball
:43:41. > :43:45.moving around in that rally. Very ambitious shot, the return from
:43:46. > :44:50.Chan. A very good picked up by Jamie. It
:44:51. > :44:55.was being half volleyed up a little, the ball did not have much
:44:56. > :45:08.pace on it. He took his time and found his mark.
:45:09. > :45:17.Yes, did not quite moved the feet. Dellacqua knew it as soon as she had
:45:18. > :45:24.missed the shot. Keep on your toes, step into that. As opposed to moving
:45:25. > :45:25.back. You can just tell how difficult it is, the wind behind
:45:26. > :45:31.you. Expecting the ball to come to you
:45:32. > :45:55.and it is not there. They have worked hard in the second
:45:56. > :46:03.set, for this advantage. A chance to take us into a decider.
:46:04. > :46:14.That will do nicely. Much better set of tennis from Murray and Dellacqua.
:46:15. > :46:23.SUE BARKER: They had a spring in their step. Jamie Murray one that
:46:24. > :46:28.title in 2007. We will be be joining that match in just a moment. Over on
:46:29. > :46:35.BBC1, currently enjoying Centre Court, the men's semifinal. Add
:46:36. > :46:42.4:30pm it is over to the World Cup, quarterfinal between France and
:46:43. > :46:47.Germany. Later on tonight, the host Brazil take on Colombia. You can
:46:48. > :46:52.hear that on radio five live. It is tennis all the way on BBC Two. We
:46:53. > :46:57.will keep you up-to-date with what is happening on Centre Court. At the
:46:58. > :47:06.moment Novak Djokovic has just taken the third set to lead 2-1. He took
:47:07. > :47:12.the tie-break to 7-2. Did the draft has held the opening service game,
:47:13. > :47:18.the first game of the fourth set. On the red button, on Court One it is
:47:19. > :47:24.Naomi Broady and Neal Skupski. They are starting their quarterfinal.
:47:25. > :47:28.That match is on the red button. Plenty of tennis to enjoy here
:47:29. > :47:38.today. We are heading back to court 12.
:47:39. > :47:45.Jamie has not left Casey all on her own to fend for herself in this
:47:46. > :47:55.deciding set. Judy will be well sure, I think, that he has gone to
:47:56. > :48:00.the toilet. He has to go with an official, to make sure Judy does not
:48:01. > :48:04.mix down and give him any coaching. That is not allowed. That is why an
:48:05. > :48:10.official goes with him, to make sure all is OK. A lot better in that
:48:11. > :48:14.second set, I'm sure Judy will be delighted. She will be aware that
:48:15. > :48:20.Jamie was out of sorts in the first set. He is the dominant force in
:48:21. > :48:25.that pairing. Back to his best in the second set, playing aggressive
:48:26. > :48:34.tennis. KC, as a result was able to hold more effectively, hold serve
:48:35. > :48:36.more comfortably. -- Casey. Now they have the momentum as we head into
:48:37. > :48:52.the deciding set. This is an important service game.
:48:53. > :49:10.Max Mirnyi attempting to assert his authority.
:49:11. > :49:18.Pummelling Chan. She held on very well until the branch was too much
:49:19. > :49:30.for her. -- morale the court does get a little dusty at
:49:31. > :49:52.this stage in the Championships. That could have been a bit of a
:49:53. > :50:15.shambles. Especially as the wind was moving
:50:16. > :50:20.the ball over towards Chan. She did well to take some evasive action.
:50:21. > :50:31.Yes, that is when you really need to have some big first serves.
:50:32. > :50:46.They have definitely decided to go after Chan lately. She has had to
:50:47. > :51:18.deal with some very tricky shots. That was a good smash. Murray might
:51:19. > :51:21.have missed a trick there, it was a sensational return from Dellacqua.
:51:22. > :51:26.You would have fully expected him to go there, trying to make the
:51:27. > :51:29.interception. Perhaps he was stunned by the pace of the return, not quite
:51:30. > :51:38.ready for quick enough to do so. Thank you, Partner, I have done
:51:39. > :52:11.enough. It was a better game, even though he
:52:12. > :52:19.did not make as many first serves as he would want. Combined nicely
:52:20. > :52:24.together. A sizeable crowd now, out on court 12. I think word has got
:52:25. > :52:30.around that Jamie Murray is in action, and plenty have made their
:52:31. > :52:34.way down here. The southern end of Wimbledon. Just to give the player
:52:35. > :52:41.support. They might have come off Court One where Bob Bryan and Mike
:52:42. > :52:48.Bryan were playing. A British team on Court One as well. I think that
:52:49. > :52:49.is a good theory. They have just found their way here, a much better
:52:50. > :53:09.theory. Trailing serve. Very clever serve, swinging left,
:53:10. > :53:30.curved into the body. Used that serve a lot against Mirnyi.
:53:31. > :53:40.Superb return. Such a big difference when you do get a look at a second
:53:41. > :53:44.serve, it gives you a bit more time. It with the same amount of pace, and
:53:45. > :53:49.you have a much more aggressive mindset, always looking to attack.
:53:50. > :54:02.If you time it well, you give your team a great opportunity.
:54:03. > :54:09.You see, when you are a right-hander and a lefty is slicing the ball, you
:54:10. > :54:12.are happier hitting it with a backhand than you are trying to run
:54:13. > :54:13.around and hit it with your forehand. A little bit of trouble
:54:14. > :54:19.here. What a difference a first serve
:54:20. > :55:02.makes. Look how good that backhand return
:55:03. > :55:08.is. A singular shop, that one, from Max Mirnyi. I have seen it so many
:55:09. > :55:38.times. They have carved out an opportunity to break here.
:55:39. > :55:46.Mirnyi was everywhere there, wasn't he?
:55:47. > :55:52.Chan certainly played her part, returning well throughout that
:55:53. > :55:57.game. They combined together beautifully and deserve this early
:55:58. > :56:00.lead. It was really Max Mirnyi who spoiled the party. For Jamie and
:56:01. > :56:22.Casey right there, great play. What a shot. Perfectly played.
:56:23. > :56:29.Getting the wind just right. It looked like it might be going long,
:56:30. > :56:43.and then it cold about six inches from the baseline. -- it curled.
:56:44. > :56:47.He was just defending himself there, really. Did well to make the volley.
:56:48. > :57:13.It was a powerful return. They have really stepped up, Mirnyi
:57:14. > :57:17.and Chan. Mirnyi has been chasing and dodging all over the place,
:57:18. > :57:20.wanting to get his racket on every single ball. Chan seemed to catch
:57:21. > :57:49.the fever. What an outstanding start Mirnyi and
:57:50. > :57:53.Chan have made. Doubles, it is so important to try and gain momentum,
:57:54. > :57:58.and when you have it, if you can play quickly between points and hold
:57:59. > :58:04.serve comfortably. Like the Bryan brothers, it can make a world of
:58:05. > :58:09.difference. It is very different, in doubles. One team can be playing
:58:10. > :58:14.really well and they can tighten up a little bit, the other team gets
:58:15. > :58:21.into it... I am not sure in this case, Mirnyi and Chan, if they let
:58:22. > :58:30.up in the second set. It was a whole bunch of Ord shop -- board shots.
:58:31. > :58:39.They definitely did go off a bit. The other two got energised. Now it
:58:40. > :58:41.is them full of energy. Plenty of matches in all the outside courts at
:58:42. > :58:54.this stage of the championship. Juniors, seniors, former champions.
:58:55. > :59:46.The Men's Doubles semis, Paes and Stepanek, and yet another Canadian,
:59:47. > :59:53.what is the story with all of these Canadians?
:59:54. > :59:59.Pospisil is a very good player. Reached the semifinals of the mass
:00:00. > :00:00.does 1000 series last year in Montr?al but he has been injured for
:00:01. > :00:22.a long time. That is one of the nicest features
:00:23. > :00:25.of the Grand Slam, the junior event. You can always get a quick heads up
:00:26. > :00:30.as to who will do well in the future.
:00:31. > :00:37.It was obvious who show was going to be a sensational senior when she
:00:38. > :00:50.played in the juniors. -- it was obvious Bouchard was going to be a
:00:51. > :00:51.sensational senior. That gives Murray and Dellacqua a fighting
:00:52. > :01:19.chance in this deciding set. That is her job in a situation like
:01:20. > :01:41.this, to take that return down the centre away from Murray.
:01:42. > :01:49.It has been very much a matter, this match, of one team playing better
:01:50. > :01:57.than the other, and then reversing that. It definitely takes two teams.
:01:58. > :02:04.We have not had both teams playing really well at the same time.
:02:05. > :02:17.She missed one! It is a shame, she made a good call earlier. It is
:02:18. > :02:20.important to communicate with your partner as those lobster or up and
:02:21. > :02:33.she took evasive action, ducking, moving, changing. -- ASBOs lobs go
:02:34. > :02:39.up. -- as those lobs go up. Her body language has been so good as well.
:02:40. > :02:45.Very pumped up, especially in this deciding set. Often it is the male
:02:46. > :02:51.player that does most of that. But she has been great. She has been
:02:52. > :03:04.willing to go after balls which are not even necessarily hers. What a
:03:05. > :03:07.serve. Best serve he has produced. I think her attitude and the quality
:03:08. > :03:12.of her tennis is allowing Mirnyi to relax a little bit and go for it a
:03:13. > :03:18.little more. Putting less pressure on him when his partner is playing a
:03:19. > :03:22.little better. He has always had a big serve. Nice and tall, but we
:03:23. > :03:34.have seen very few of those ones. The kick-serve can work well, it can
:03:35. > :03:42.get up nice and high, especially in breezy conditions like this. It
:03:43. > :03:46.moves more in the air. That one was difficult to read because his toss
:03:47. > :03:53.was a little bit over to the left and it looked like he could just not
:03:54. > :04:00.flatten it right out. The winners of this match will play Daniel Nestor
:04:01. > :04:57.and M Donna Vekic. The lob held up a little bit in the
:04:58. > :05:31.wind, he was at full stretch trying to get that Lobb. Well done.
:05:32. > :05:42.That second serve can really embarrass you on your return.
:05:43. > :05:51.Big difference when you can jam Mirnyi on the forehand side rather
:05:52. > :06:04.than giving him a backhand return. Easy game.
:06:05. > :06:16.That reduces the arrears. But time is running out. For Murray and
:06:17. > :06:19.Dellacqua. This is the big game isn't it? Yes, a break here would be
:06:20. > :06:38.just what the doctor ordered. Good move, wasn't it? It was so low
:06:39. > :06:43.at the net, the return. Superbly timed. Just set off so Murray could
:06:44. > :06:44.not change his mind in terms of the direction of the return. It is
:06:45. > :07:14.always key. The crowd doing their level best to
:07:15. > :07:20.get right behind Murray and Dellacqua. Still, Dellacqua has
:07:21. > :07:26.really figured out the problems that Chan house. When the ball comes
:07:27. > :07:40.straight at her and she is square on.
:07:41. > :07:47.Some nice variation from Mirnyi. He crossed initially on the first point
:07:48. > :07:48.and he gave Murray the fake and stayed. Nice and active in the
:07:49. > :08:31.forecourt. So deep. No way Chan could hit it,
:08:32. > :08:35.could hit an offensive shop there. This is a big point. -- an offensive
:08:36. > :08:46.shot. Just ran through the ball, never
:08:47. > :08:50.really steadied himself. He has got the wind at his back so if you do
:08:51. > :08:53.not time that, the ball will just fly at you. He would love a do over
:08:54. > :09:10.there. That was an important miss. That was a better serve from her
:09:11. > :09:31.when she really needed it. Chan is quite vocal out there. Width
:09:32. > :09:35.she wants this match badly. She has made a high percentage of first
:09:36. > :09:40.serves when it really mattered. It has put pressure on the opposition.
:09:41. > :09:47.It means Mirnyi can really move. He can fake and influence play at the
:09:48. > :09:48.net which is so important. They really have communicated
:09:49. > :10:04.exceptionally well together. Mirnyi has done it all before at the
:10:05. > :10:10.very highest level. Understands exactly what is required in a
:10:11. > :10:16.situation like this. And of course Judy Murray will be a little
:10:17. > :10:19.disappointed, Jamie has not been able to play just that little bit
:10:20. > :10:34.better today. They are serving to stay in the match.
:10:35. > :10:57.A lot of slipping and sliding going on.
:10:58. > :11:05.Oh my goodness! Two superb ground strokes. She has really grown in
:11:06. > :11:07.confidence throughout the match. She has got the adrenaline flowing. That
:11:08. > :12:17.was not an easy shot. Chan might say, I am glad I did not
:12:18. > :12:18.have that shot because that could have taken me out with an overhead
:12:19. > :12:43.like that. Out. She went for it. Still a very positive game from
:12:44. > :12:46.Mirnyi in particular and Chan. At the beginning of the match, if you
:12:47. > :12:52.had said to them, we will get you a game away from victory with Max
:12:53. > :12:56.serving, would you take that? They would have bitten your hand. -- bit
:12:57. > :13:09.in your hand off. The toss was a little low on that
:13:10. > :13:28.one. The advantage of serving with the
:13:29. > :13:32.new balls and he knows Murray's game well. Sensible tennis under
:13:33. > :13:52.pressure. It is brilliant. She was ready and
:13:53. > :13:59.waiting. She would have been forgiven not to know that this ball
:14:00. > :14:05.was on its way. Jamie Murray was very quick across the net. He hit a
:14:06. > :14:17.beautiful shot actually. Only two more points needed.
:14:18. > :14:22.A lovely first volley from Mirnyi. Again, great teamwork throughout the
:14:23. > :14:45.course of this service game. That is good tennis. Delight for
:14:46. > :14:50.Mirnyi and Chan. Outplaying Murray and Dellacqua today. And they are
:14:51. > :14:58.safely through to the semifinals here at Wimbledon. By virtue of that
:14:59. > :15:10.3-set victory. Virginia, deservedly so. I thought they played very well.
:15:11. > :15:17.Max Mirnyi is a superb doubles player and we know that but Chan was
:15:18. > :15:21.the revelation. Very impressive. I have not watched him play before. I
:15:22. > :15:28.cannot believe that. When she is as good as she is. It is Dellacqua and
:15:29. > :15:32.Murray who are beaten in three sets today and it is Mirnyi and Chan who
:15:33. > :15:39.are safely through to the final format. SUE BARKER: just like his
:15:40. > :15:43.brother, Andy, Jamie goes out at the quarterfinal stage. That is the end
:15:44. > :16:15.of the much on court 12. Plenty of tennis going on elsewhere.
:16:16. > :16:24.Let's round up a few results. Plenty happening today. The number two
:16:25. > :16:43.seeds in the doubles are through to their first Wimbledon final.
:16:44. > :16:57.They will meet Babbitt and Mladenovic.
:16:58. > :17:03.The Bryan brothers, they won in straight sets. Beating Michael
:17:04. > :17:21.Llodra and Mahut. They will meet the unseeded pair,
:17:22. > :17:27.Vasek Pospisil and Jack Sock. A Canadian-USA combination. They
:17:28. > :17:43.defeated Radek Stepanek and Leander Paes.
:17:44. > :17:55.British interest in the boys's singles ended today.
:17:56. > :18:03.We are heading to Court Number One to see Skupski and Broady in this
:18:04. > :18:07.quarterfinal match of the Mixed Doubles and our commentators are Sam
:18:08. > :18:17.Smith and Nick Martin 's. COMMENTATOR: Having got them back
:18:18. > :18:22.into this quarterfinal set, they lost their first service game at the
:18:23. > :18:26.beginning and then broke back in the previous game. Putting some pressure
:18:27. > :18:57.back on the service game of Naomi Broady.
:18:58. > :19:19.NICK MULLINS: They have been the dominant pair in this match so far.
:19:20. > :19:20.SAM SMITH: Yes he has not got the necessary speed but he is or was in
:19:21. > :19:55.the right position. She is a very handy player. The most
:19:56. > :20:08.experienced of the four on court today. Qureshi.
:20:09. > :20:14.It is a different match now, it really is. Skupski and Broady did
:20:15. > :20:18.start rather sluggishly, rather slowly, they are up against a player
:20:19. > :21:13.who is difficult to break down. When six foot two Broady connects,
:21:14. > :22:31.she really connects. Lovely timing there.
:22:32. > :22:42.If they are right with this challenge, that is the set.
:22:43. > :22:53.But is about one and a half blades of finely trimmed grass.
:22:54. > :23:45.I think those who applauded did not hear the fault call.
:23:46. > :23:54.A trail of vapour left in the wake of that tennis court. They are both
:23:55. > :24:15.hitting the ball well, timing it beautifully.
:24:16. > :24:26.Faced with 115 mph. When it really comes to it, the guys have no
:24:27. > :24:48.problems acing the women these days. The call of late came too late. If
:24:49. > :24:52.she had let that carry on travelling, it would have been over
:24:53. > :25:02.on the front practice courts of the park!
:25:03. > :25:23.J are getting complicated. -- they are getting complicated.
:25:24. > :25:41.This match is just starting to come to the boil. We have had three
:25:42. > :25:45.successive breaks of serve. And we go and they really are starting to
:25:46. > :25:50.rekindle the energy and excitement we had on this court yesterday
:25:51. > :25:54.evening. The pair of them, you suspect, still glowing after the
:25:55. > :26:01.third round victory. They came from a set down to beat Mergea and
:26:02. > :26:07.Svitolina. Extraordinary, dramatic conclusion. That involved their
:26:08. > :26:13.opponents fending off eight match points and their service game. A
:26:14. > :26:17.game that lasted ten minutes before Neal Skupski stepped up and thought,
:26:18. > :26:21.enough is enough and he ended it on his service game. They really raised
:26:22. > :26:28.the roof and they were packed in here yesterday evening and number
:26:29. > :26:35.one court. There is the family box. Older brother to the left of the
:26:36. > :26:39.picture. In the centre, is the man in charge of all the doubles plays
:26:40. > :26:54.and also the It is Skupski serving to stay in
:26:55. > :27:25.this first set of the quarterfinal. One of the features of the match so
:27:26. > :27:46.far has been returning of Vera Dushevina.
:27:47. > :28:02.Not so many frills with Usher Vina, she keeps it simple and predictable
:28:03. > :28:32.but she is solid. She did lay the racket head back
:28:33. > :28:59.slightly on a second look there, that could have gone anywhere.
:29:00. > :29:09.Here once again are more set points for Qureshi and Dushevina. She is
:29:10. > :29:45.either tired or she cannot look! I suspect it might be the former!
:29:46. > :29:50.ball bounce. Coming from the third round yesterday evening, Neal
:29:51. > :29:51.Skupski and I only Brodie have to come from behind in the
:29:52. > :30:13.quarterfinal. Good place to go, down the middle,
:30:14. > :30:18.especially when you are playing in Mixed Doubles at the slams. Maybe
:30:19. > :30:31.they will play in the States after Wimbledon. You do not play too much
:30:32. > :30:35.together, it becomes an issue. First serves in, along way from
:30:36. > :30:40.acceptable. I think, there were quite a few break points in the
:30:41. > :30:48.opening game, didn't take the man got a little lost. Silky skills, but
:30:49. > :30:51.I do not think it is the end of the world they lost the first set,
:30:52. > :30:56.particularly as they came back into it. If they lost 6-1 it would be
:30:57. > :31:06.difficult to break that momentum, but 6-4, they are in this. Up
:31:07. > :31:13.against the 60 seats, Pakistani and Swedish combination. We were talking
:31:14. > :31:14.in the first set as to how he is controlling it. He was in the top
:31:15. > :32:19.ten not so long ago. -- 16 seeds. He found himself a break point down
:32:20. > :32:27.in the very opening game of this quarterfinal.
:32:28. > :33:34.One or two early issues here in the second set.
:33:35. > :34:13.Broady And Skupski combining really well.
:34:14. > :34:18.They saved two break points in the first set, they have saved one of
:34:19. > :34:42.them here. It isn't anything flash, solid
:34:43. > :34:52.doubles, made the first serve. Their parents, mum and dad. Mum was a
:34:53. > :34:53.national champion, back in the day, in Pakistan. Comes from a real
:34:54. > :35:16.tennis playing family. As does my only Brodie, of course,
:35:17. > :35:21.brought up in a tennis family. Grew up playing the sport with her
:35:22. > :35:24.brother, Liam, who is making his way in this profession at the moment. --
:35:25. > :35:40.Naomi Broady. It is in. This is what happens when you bounce
:35:41. > :35:46.the volley ended and put it away. The centre of the court with
:35:47. > :35:47.Dushevina to be solid. It is not rocket science, go down the middle
:35:48. > :36:20.as much as you can in mixed. A really sporty family, does
:36:21. > :36:53.everything. Now held off the -- three break
:36:54. > :37:18.points, becoming a lengthy opening game in the second set.
:37:19. > :37:22.Not quite the tennis we had yesterday evening, but on the way.
:37:23. > :37:37.Another break point. I just want to have a look at where
:37:38. > :37:48.Vera Dushevina stands. I cannot help thinking of a match last week, when
:37:49. > :37:50.Clara clobbered her partner on the back of the head. Dushevina is not
:37:51. > :37:58.standing there now. APPLAUSE
:37:59. > :38:13.Another break point. If you watch here, Dushevina moots,
:38:14. > :38:19.you cannot see her, before Skupski is the at the back of his swing.
:38:20. > :38:36.Went a little too early. Well spotted.
:38:37. > :39:12.That was the squeal of frustration. She's from good stock.
:39:13. > :39:18.It is fascinating, there is normally one character in a doubles match.
:39:19. > :39:28.That tends to dominate the court. I would save the most of the first set
:39:29. > :39:29.it was Qureshi. Now Skupski is starting to have quite an impact in
:39:30. > :39:52.the second set. What Qureshi and Dushevina have done
:39:53. > :39:58.really well is mixed up the service direction to Broady. Simply rip
:39:59. > :39:59.changes. They are really playing mind games at the moment with
:40:00. > :40:41.Broady. Oh! It is the sun. It is good to see
:40:42. > :40:48.Qureshi smiling about that, what else can you do? I am pleased to see
:40:49. > :40:53.him smile. In Pakistan he has a very cheesy toothpaste advert, he goes to
:40:54. > :41:00.the shop and buy some toothpaste and girls come rushing to see him and by
:41:01. > :41:03.the same toothpaste. At the end he has a bright, gleaming smile. I
:41:04. > :41:21.always think about it when I see him.
:41:22. > :41:28.Not so much a cheesy smile at the end of this one, more a grimace. Did
:41:29. > :41:29.a great job making the first volley difficult, that is where the points
:41:30. > :41:56.started from. It is a good job we have the monitor
:41:57. > :42:01.in front of us, I have lost count of the amount of points at deuce.
:42:02. > :42:22.Eight, I think, is that what you make it? Yes.
:42:23. > :42:34.We have surpassed yesterday evening, it is a new record.
:42:35. > :43:07.That was a little bit of oil for the Pakistani and Russian.
:43:08. > :43:21.-- toil. Entertaining stuff. A home interesting to the doubles. Jamie
:43:22. > :43:27.Murray and Casey Dellacqua were playing Max Mirnyi and Chan, but
:43:28. > :43:32.they have lost in three sets. The winner of this one will play Max
:43:33. > :44:14.Mirnyi or Chan. Impressive, Neal Skupski, I have two
:44:15. > :44:28.say. Plays very much like a typical American college player.
:44:29. > :44:34.A little unlucky there. It is all about... We talk about systems and
:44:35. > :44:43.how you become a tennis player, it is about allowing your own furrow,
:44:44. > :44:45.to be honest. His older brother went to Louisiana State University and
:44:46. > :44:51.developed his tennis. There is a lot of doubles in American college. He
:44:52. > :45:09.is at Wimbledon, improving all the time.
:45:10. > :45:17.Got to the semifinals of Eastbourne on the way here before they lost to
:45:18. > :45:46.Alexander Peya and Bruno Soares. A smart match from Qureshi and
:45:47. > :45:57.douche Avena. Starting to pick a bit more on Broady at the net. -- douche
:45:58. > :46:12.Dushevina. There will be one or two who thought
:46:13. > :46:24.there was almost an inevitability about that. 2-0, with a break. The
:46:25. > :46:39.28-year-old Russian heading to the plate, Vera Dushevina.
:46:40. > :46:49.Qureshi and Dushevina's big win came in the previous round, beating the
:46:50. > :46:50.second seeds in the straight sets to sort themselves out with this
:46:51. > :47:03.quarterfinal ticket. They are both, you sense, beginning
:47:04. > :47:09.to make their Wimbledon experience pay. They have both been playing
:47:10. > :47:23.here for a decade or so, bags of experience.
:47:24. > :47:31.It is starting to show. I was going to say they are doing the simple
:47:32. > :47:36.things well, then they dumped a relatively straightforward volley
:47:37. > :47:38.into the net. They have moved well, combined effectively together well.
:47:39. > :47:53.They have done the basics. Good numbers on their first serves.
:47:54. > :47:56.You look at the difference between the two, almost 70% of first serves
:47:57. > :48:11.in the Qureshi and Dushevina. That is staring at me on the
:48:12. > :48:31.monitor. You have to get your first serves in in doubles.
:48:32. > :48:37.Lots of martyred debate. They are trying to switch up the play, we
:48:38. > :48:42.will find out which way they are going in a moment. That is what all
:48:43. > :48:48.the discussions are about, what way are they going to move? -- muttered
:48:49. > :48:55.debate. If he is going to move to his left, Dushevina needs to fill in
:48:56. > :49:03.the space behind him. And that did not happen.
:49:04. > :49:50.He moves left. A real lack of communications.
:49:51. > :49:56.This has been a bit of a problem on the side of the court. They have
:49:57. > :50:03.been really messing with Broady's mind. It is to out of 13 break
:50:04. > :50:05.points converted for Broady and Skupski. You can see where they are
:50:06. > :50:11.missing out here. A smart set from Dushevina, tying up
:50:12. > :50:23.Skupski. APPLAUSE
:50:24. > :51:05.Nothing wrong with that return. They are going to check that, I
:51:06. > :51:09.think. They have really opened the door here for Broady and Skupski,
:51:10. > :52:42.this is a routine service game. Skupski and Broady have had
:52:43. > :52:46.opportunities on both service games of Qureshi initially and then Vera
:52:47. > :52:50.Dushevina. However, the opportunities come and the
:52:51. > :52:57.opportunities keep going. Yes. Obviously Broady wants to play on
:52:58. > :53:03.the left and Skupski on the right, because he plays on the right side
:53:04. > :53:08.when he plays with Ken. Sometimes it is difficult, as the woman, to
:53:09. > :53:10.convert. It has been a bit of an issue. On the other side of the net,
:53:11. > :53:31.douche Avena -- Dutch they are very tough to break down.
:53:32. > :53:44.This competition is 101 years old this year. At extra large prize if
:53:45. > :53:52.you can name the first winners. Hope crisp and Agnes. Some famous names
:53:53. > :54:06.have gone on to win it. Fred Perry was around with Dorothy in the 30s.
:54:07. > :54:14.Owen Davidson and Billie Jean King, those of you whose memories stretch
:54:15. > :54:16.back to the 60s. A fair old roll of honour that these four are trying to
:54:17. > :54:39.add their name to. Dushevina four. Defending champions Daniel Nestor
:54:40. > :54:57.and his partner. Yes, Eugenie Bouchard and my lost
:54:58. > :55:07.Raonic, not the only Canadians in town. Nestor adding to the mix. She
:55:08. > :55:34.has nailed it. UMPIRE: The call stands. That might
:55:35. > :56:21.have one of -- might have been one of those time buying challenges.
:56:22. > :57:03.Qureshi and Dushevina eyeing up a break.
:57:04. > :57:10.There is a lot you can do when you have your nose over the net will
:57:11. > :58:25.stop -- over the net. This time it was Qureshi who moved
:58:26. > :58:29.and Broady who chose wisely. This is a great spot from Broady. Qureshi
:58:30. > :58:36.should have taken the ball in the air. Broady very quickly, a slightly
:58:37. > :58:42.early move from Qureshi, you would not expect that from him.
:58:43. > :58:54.It is payback from the Pakistani. Silky smooth, isn't he? He really
:58:55. > :59:10.is. Classic. Lovely to watch. He is a Grand Slam finalist.
:59:11. > :59:19.Qureshi and his partner Rohan Bopanna were run up -- runners-up to
:59:20. > :59:43.the Bryan brothers. SUE BARKER: We are leaving this
:59:44. > :59:47.match on BBC Two to head to Centre Court. If you want to continue
:59:48. > :59:51.watching this comic you can. It continues on the red button. At this
:59:52. > :59:57.point, welcome to the viewers from BBC1. We are heading back to Centre
:59:58. > :00:02.Court, the first of the men's semifinals have been decided,
:00:03. > :00:08.Djokovic beating Dimitrov. It is now the second semifinal, Roger Federer
:00:09. > :00:22.and my loss Raonic. That is the semifinal we are looking forward to.
:00:23. > :00:26.more than just the serve. What has improved, he is a tall man, that his
:00:27. > :00:29.movement is better. If you have a serf like that and you're not
:00:30. > :00:32.winning there has to be a fault somewhere. He has worked on those
:00:33. > :00:37.coming he has his ground strokes in order, years moving better, coming
:00:38. > :00:41.into the net a little bit more. -- he is. He is big and strong and
:00:42. > :00:45.powerful and he had to impose that today against Federer do have a
:00:46. > :00:48.chance to win. We have looked at his big serve and his physique and
:00:49. > :00:53.thought he should do so well but he hasn't gone past the second round.
:00:54. > :00:59.That is when Leibovitz has had a big part to play. He was in full
:01:00. > :01:02.Croatian. They had similarities. If you are holding a serve as
:01:03. > :01:06.comfortably as he does that should free you up for the baseline rallies
:01:07. > :01:11.to go for your shots. The baseline rallies to go for your shots. Being
:01:12. > :01:15.a hits on his serve, if you're holding that serve that comfortably
:01:16. > :01:22.you can go for your ground strokes. Exactly what is going on today. You
:01:23. > :01:26.guys say, moving, trying to throw the server of, what can watch you
:01:27. > :01:29.do? He will have to try to get the toss, what can watch you do? He will
:01:30. > :01:30.have to try to get the task as yet there is any variation. Goes wider
:01:31. > :01:44.down the task, CF I will look the toss, try to move
:01:45. > :01:48.in, try to take the ball a little bit earlier. I know the ball is
:01:49. > :01:52.coming quick, but you cannot give him the angles, you have to cut the
:01:53. > :01:59.angles of. I know Roger will have to offer him on that rat, and to
:02:00. > :02:11.dashing rat, and to conserve the serve. 147 is pretty special. --
:02:12. > :02:19.rack. He will soon be serving and has fairly soon. We will do a
:02:20. > :02:26.runner. -- at us. When you look at experience, and it is a Wimbledon
:02:27. > :02:33.semifinal, his first Grand Slam semifinal, Roger will assert his
:02:34. > :02:39.authority on this much early on. Raonic is expected to lose, I would
:02:40. > :02:44.think what you would want to get on top, because the quicker he gets on
:02:45. > :02:50.top, the more his reputation comes into playing a part. A lot of guys
:02:51. > :02:54.win 80, 90% of their matches for their warm out there. He has that,
:02:55. > :02:59.that ability to do that. Just before they walk out. But you never know
:03:00. > :03:04.what can happen at Wimbledon. There is one coming straight towards me. I
:03:05. > :03:12.can tell you, that was going at about 141 mph. You tried to catch
:03:13. > :03:40.that, that was a very silly moo. -- move. 141 miles an hour he serves,
:03:41. > :03:43.that, that was a very silly moo. -- are hitting the spots, he will serve
:03:44. > :03:47.basis, that is where Federer will try to change his court position.
:03:48. > :03:54.You can get on a roll, and you feel like he will never get a look in.
:03:55. > :04:00.That is the challenge that like he will never get a look in.
:04:01. > :04:12.most of the time like anybody else's like he will never get a look in.
:04:13. > :04:12.first serve. And if you are like he will never get a look in.
:04:13. > :04:25.free him up to go for the big second serve. And such
:04:26. > :04:25.free him up to go for the big second your hand stinging? He is going to
:04:26. > :04:34.get the ice pack on it. Tim is your hand stinging? He is going to
:04:35. > :04:41.I'm handing over to Mark Petchey. COMMENTATOR: I look
:04:42. > :04:48.I'm handing over to Mark Petchey. the second of today's semifinal. A
:04:49. > :04:48.man that needs no introduction against
:04:49. > :04:50.man that needs no introduction being introduced to the world of
:04:51. > :04:50.men's tennis as a future star. APPLAUSE
:04:51. > :04:56.Milos Raonic has been playing some APPLAUSE
:04:57. > :05:01.wonderful tennis to get through to the stage. He has looked composed
:05:02. > :05:05.and dangerous. As everyone has been discussing, it is how you handle
:05:06. > :05:08.your first-ever Grand Slam semifinal, we're just about to find
:05:09. > :05:27.out. It would be a rare moment here,
:05:28. > :05:34.there will be a challenge on the first point, first served. He was
:05:35. > :05:38.pretty adamant. I understand this. Just to get a sense of what is going
:05:39. > :06:02.on. APPLAUSE APPLAUSE
:06:03. > :06:22.That is pretty confident from Raonic. Jimmy has come in, to get
:06:23. > :06:25.the ice bucket. His hands stinging of it. I'm just wiping away the
:06:26. > :06:30.tears. -- a bit. Thread of the needle there, Federer,
:06:31. > :07:19.quickly into his stride as well. Just a mere 138, a little on the
:07:20. > :07:22.slow side. He has been serving so well, I did the first match against
:07:23. > :07:27.Matthew Hampton, afterwards they well, I did the first match against
:07:28. > :07:30.to repaint the lines, he was that well, I did the first match against
:07:31. > :07:44.accurate and that fast. -- the Matthew Hebdon. A pretty good firm
:07:45. > :07:48.return by Federer. Once the ball is in play, Federer is certainly the
:07:49. > :08:37.one who should win the point. He has played Federer on a number of
:08:38. > :08:39.occasions and, on the wrong side. He would have had some wise words. The
:08:40. > :08:56.player down on the court... APPLAUSE
:08:57. > :09:00.UMPIRE: Game Federer. First game. It is a big serve but at the same
:09:01. > :09:05.time, we see Federer go up a break, Roger over the course of his career,
:09:06. > :09:10.has returned big servers very well. If you look at his win -lost record
:09:11. > :09:17.against guys like Raonic, Del Potro, Lubavitch, another guy who had a
:09:18. > :09:22.great serve... He is smart, he doesn't read to do too much, he gets
:09:23. > :09:27.the ball, get the ball in play. -- try to do. He is so light around the
:09:28. > :09:53.court, his movement is so good, he is able to impose as well.
:09:54. > :10:16.A swing and a miss. Sometimes takes the players a while to warm up. The
:10:17. > :10:17.line judge is taking a bit of time. Credit where credit is due, good
:10:18. > :10:41.cause. -- good call. Mr Federer has two challenges
:10:42. > :10:55.remaining. Federer looks relaxed early on in the match but even after
:10:56. > :10:57.nine points you hear him calling out allez, he knows the importance of
:10:58. > :11:08.the early break and a good start. What odds would you have got into
:11:09. > :11:25.breaks of serve in the first two games? -- in two breaks of serve.
:11:26. > :11:36.APPLAUSE He is a different sort of profile in
:11:37. > :11:41.terms of his returns, won it. That is a pretty smart serve and
:11:42. > :11:45.relatively quick as well. -- Raonic. He throws it out wide and he
:11:46. > :11:49.opens up the whole court. Raonic 's movement would have to come into
:11:50. > :11:58.play. For a big man it is tough to do. APPLAUSE
:11:59. > :12:06.Game Federer. Getting him off the court.
:12:07. > :12:12.From both sides of the net, that is certainly the starter Pedro was
:12:13. > :12:18.looking for. On the other side, Raonic a little nervous. --
:12:19. > :12:29.Federer. You need to settle down, win this game, get into it. APPLAUSE
:12:30. > :12:35.At the last meeting, down under in the straight year, in 2013, it was
:12:36. > :12:41.bullocks first night match in Australia. You definitely felt the
:12:42. > :13:03.nerves. -- Raonic's first night match.
:13:04. > :13:10.APPLAUSE He runs around his backhand, it's an
:13:11. > :13:15.awful long way to run around your backhand to hit a forehand, you have
:13:16. > :13:16.to go for a winner there. The whole court was left open, a great
:13:17. > :13:53.forehand by Raonic. APPLAUSE Game Raonic. APPLAUSE
:13:54. > :13:58.Federer leads. Sitting down and settling down. A quick shot of
:13:59. > :14:02.Ricardo Piatti up there, he's been working with Raonic for a while and
:14:03. > :14:08.Lubavitch. He treated the other day it's been 20 years and coming,
:14:09. > :14:11.another Wimbledon final for them, he didn't manage to make it when they
:14:12. > :14:19.were working together that he managed to do it together with
:14:20. > :14:22.Raonic. PFT has a wise head. -- Ricardo Piatti. It is not just about
:14:23. > :14:27.a big serve, from what I've seen in this tournament. Definitely not,
:14:28. > :14:31.when you reflect on his performance, his performance is going back 12
:14:32. > :14:37.months, 24 months, he had this huge serve. Then was playing, eight, ten
:14:38. > :14:42.feet behind the baseline, rallying, staying in the points. Ricardo
:14:43. > :14:50.Piatti and Lubavitch have done a great job to get him to be more
:14:51. > :14:55.offensive. When you're holding serve that comfortably, it's a great
:14:56. > :15:01.foundation. The one thing Federer, even though he just lost the last
:15:02. > :15:04.game on Raonic's serve, yes not standing way back behind the
:15:05. > :15:09.baseline to give the angles. He knows what he is facing, he will
:15:10. > :15:13.have to hold tight on his racket. He is willing to take the chance to
:15:14. > :15:34.take away the angles. To me that is a smart move.
:15:35. > :15:42.APPLAUSE Interesting, I was chatting just
:15:43. > :15:47.before the match, asking how he felt about today, he said there won't be
:15:48. > :15:57.a lot of rallies, I don't think the court service will be as much as a
:15:58. > :16:01.problem is it seemed to be, but he thought Roger would target the
:16:02. > :16:04.forehand of Raonic to open up the backhand side. There were a lot of
:16:05. > :16:08.players who moved better to the left for the right-hander moving round
:16:09. > :16:14.the backhand that when you get moving to the it's not so natural.
:16:15. > :16:19.-- but when. The forehand. The slow serve out wide to the forehand,
:16:20. > :16:23.takes Raonic a long way off the court. Once he's off the court it
:16:24. > :16:27.leaves a big call to the backhand. -- hole.
:16:28. > :16:45.APPLAUSE A bit of casual brilliance. Where
:16:46. > :16:49.would you put that Jimmy? This is a different level for Raonic to play
:16:50. > :16:53.against now. I know he's in the semifinals and he has won his match
:16:54. > :16:56.is along the way that you have do remember who you are playing. The
:16:57. > :17:07.seven time champion knows his way around the court pretty well.
:17:08. > :17:17.In my point with that, my point is, that is extra pressure on him, to
:17:18. > :17:42.know he has to come. Come up with something a little better.
:17:43. > :17:47.Do you think Raonic almost showed Federer too much respect with that
:17:48. > :17:52.shot? If he had crunched it straight down the middle it could have sent a
:17:53. > :17:57.message. I don't think it is ever a bad thing to go actual opponent to
:17:58. > :18:01.intimidate him a little. -- at your opponent.
:18:02. > :18:16.He does have a backhand, that is an awful long way to run to hit a
:18:17. > :18:21.forehand. You have to do so much with it, too much of a big gap.
:18:22. > :18:36.Federer was right on top of it right away, he doesn't waste any time.
:18:37. > :18:42.APPLAUSE That was a very visual difference
:18:43. > :18:47.between the two players. A ruthless streak from Roger as he goes
:18:48. > :18:51.straight through Raonic that time. He tried a little touch volley,
:18:52. > :18:56.Federer is way too quick to do that. Once again he went pretty close when
:18:57. > :19:49.captain, he's not afraid to do the intimidating part. -- right at him.
:19:50. > :19:58.Beautiful. APPLAUSE 30-40. With Federer and the north
:19:59. > :20:04.end of the court, we talked about it, the wind and it slows down
:20:05. > :20:07.Raonic's serve and gets a bit more stick the Federer return. Suddenly a
:20:08. > :20:40.break point for a double break. APPLAUSE
:20:41. > :20:45.He moved to dance a little better, he seems to be loosening up a little
:20:46. > :20:47.bit. -- to that. His feet in a better position, he was able to hit
:20:48. > :22:01.that good and firmly. allowing Federer to float the ball
:22:02. > :22:03.back deep, maybe a serve and volley once in awhile, might mix it up a
:22:04. > :22:30.bit. -- is allowing. His father on the left. His mum on
:22:31. > :22:41.the right. APPLAUSE
:22:42. > :23:39.Raonic. Advantage. Game Raonic. APPLAUSE
:23:40. > :23:40.Federer leads 3-2 first set. An ace on the board, another game on the
:23:41. > :23:54.board. A lovely story in the paper about
:23:55. > :23:59.Raonic the other day. He was born in Montenegro but came over to Canada.
:24:00. > :24:02.He played tennis, it says here in his biography he played at eight but
:24:03. > :24:06.he actually played at six. There is his father. He stopped for a couple
:24:07. > :24:10.of years, did some ice hockey in Canada and some other sports, then
:24:11. > :24:14.he came up to his dad and said I would like to try that racket sport
:24:15. > :24:20.thing again I was part of. His dad didn't really know which way to turn
:24:21. > :24:25.at the time and he went out to, as they do in Montenegro, to a
:24:26. > :24:28.hairdresser. That is where they get their local information. He went on
:24:29. > :24:33.there to figure out the best place to take Raonic on this journey. Ever
:24:34. > :24:38.since that day, that was the only thing he's ever wanted to do. He
:24:39. > :24:41.refused to snowboard, they try to buy him a snowboard and he said I
:24:42. > :24:47.could hurt myself doing that. It's just been a single-minded ambition
:24:48. > :24:51.of his. He would be a pretty imposing presence on a pair of
:24:52. > :24:55.skates, don't you think? Yes! LAUGHTER
:24:56. > :25:03.It looks like the hairdresser had an impact in other ways.
:25:04. > :25:06.When you are as challenged as I am in that department you don't really
:25:07. > :25:34.go there with those jokes. LAUGHTER It seems to me Raonic is hitting the
:25:35. > :25:36.ball and hoping and moment, he doesn't expect it to be good and he
:25:37. > :25:50.is a little bit late. APPLAUSE
:25:51. > :25:54.Just a follow up, Federer expects everything back all the time, until
:25:55. > :26:05.the ball hits the fans, he's ready for it. -- the fence. APPLAUSE
:26:06. > :26:12.He's got it all going on at the moment, the former champion. Federer
:26:13. > :26:18.leads 4-2. Tim you mentioned earlier Federer was in the locker room
:26:19. > :26:24.watching Djokovic, do you think that inspired him a little bit more? I
:26:25. > :26:28.think it will be a minor detail in the back of his mind. He knows he
:26:29. > :26:34.can't get ahead of himself, he has to go out and put a performance
:26:35. > :26:38.today. I think having watched that semifinal he would have liked what
:26:39. > :26:45.he saw. Djokovic played OK, he played his best, he did it good job
:26:46. > :27:12.getting through. I think Federer fancies another title to his list.
:27:13. > :27:29.What a shot! He's made it. APPLAUSE 30-0. Can you explain what happened?
:27:30. > :27:47.That is pure strength. Pure talent. APPLAUSE
:27:48. > :27:55.Its more traditional when you have a short ball to go and the guy then
:27:56. > :28:06.the net. -- on the net. He doesn't even need to look at the ball.
:28:07. > :28:15.He doesn't know what to expect. It went in at about 130.
:28:16. > :29:07.APPLAUSE Game Raonic. Federer leads 4-3,
:29:08. > :29:11.first set. It has settled down into the kind of pattern of games we
:29:12. > :29:15.expected at the start of the match, in terms of the Serbs dominating
:29:16. > :29:24.proceedings. Roger very quick out of the box and Raonic a touch nervous.
:29:25. > :29:29.-- dominating serves. Raonic is starting to rivet up on his serve.
:29:30. > :29:30.How difficult is it to come out here and settle down to play the
:29:31. > :29:37.How difficult is it to come out here kind of tennis you know you're
:29:38. > :29:43.capable of in such a great arena? -- revved up. This is new for Raonic. I
:29:44. > :29:51.thought he would come out and be free, swing free and go for his
:29:52. > :29:55.shots. He came out not moving quite as fluently as he would like. The
:29:56. > :29:59.first game will be nervous but with the serve like that he should have
:30:00. > :30:03.got through it. Federer is returning everything which means Raonic is
:30:04. > :30:08.pitting a little extra pressure on his first ball. -- pitting. Once
:30:09. > :30:09.again the ball will be in play. That was certainly the favourite once
:30:10. > :30:29.that happens. -- Federer. just saw there, they hold 29 titles
:30:30. > :30:37.between them, Jack Nicklaus and Rod Laver.
:30:38. > :31:12.Good movement there, moved well around his backhand to get to his
:31:13. > :31:22.forehand. And the whole court was open.
:31:23. > :31:27.He has had so much success going into that, Raonic. Justin Rose
:31:28. > :31:41.there. He is so used to going to the
:31:42. > :31:47.backhand side, Federer having it easy to go to the forehand. 26
:31:48. > :32:05.minutes, first loose shot from Federer.
:32:06. > :32:09.The response that we've come to expect, not the fastest first serve,
:32:10. > :32:27.but buying on the line. He caught that well out in front of
:32:28. > :33:07.him. He needed to. No wonder it's reliable.
:33:08. > :33:10.UMPIRE: Mr Ramage is challenging. -- Raonic. The ball was called in.
:33:11. > :33:24.Advantage, Federer. Game, Federer.
:33:25. > :33:30.That's the way to get out of a tight game. Tim, for you, where does Roger
:33:31. > :33:37.Rankin terms of serve? If you are talking about the serve, the first
:33:38. > :33:42.and second serve combination, I would put him in the top two. I
:33:43. > :33:47.still wouldn't write off Pete Sampras, the way he used to serve.
:33:48. > :33:51.He had a little more firepower than Federer. But I think his variation,
:33:52. > :34:02.his disguise. Federer's variation, disguise, was
:34:03. > :36:22.the best I ever played against. UMPIRE: Said a relieved five games
:36:23. > :36:34.to four, first set. -- Federer leads. That was the serve that came
:36:35. > :36:41.after his first serve. That is two of my first serves combined! Roger
:36:42. > :36:54.has to be very patient. There is no rhythm. The him, he started out this
:36:55. > :37:02.match. The extension on the serve is something I have never seen before.
:37:03. > :37:13.It's unbelievable. So much of the power coming from his legs. He
:37:14. > :37:18.started off in Miami with that sleeve on his arm because he had a
:37:19. > :37:30.reaction to something, but it keeps the all warm and helps his serve.
:37:31. > :37:35.Sometimes he can do 15, 30, 40, game within 60 seconds, so he has to keep
:37:36. > :37:42.it ready to go. UMPIRE: Thank you.
:37:43. > :37:47.Let, first service. Lets see if he can get some returns in play, put
:37:48. > :38:13.some pressure on Roger. Might not be a bad play, return down
:38:14. > :38:32.the middle hard and the, take the angle away.
:38:33. > :38:41.It is the classic punch there, Raonic has done well to get the ball
:38:42. > :38:42.back in play, but Federer is always dancing round ready to get the ball
:38:43. > :39:36.back. Federer knows how important this is.
:39:37. > :39:56.He has to finish it off. He is pretty vocal out there today.
:39:57. > :39:57.The difference is, when Roger hits the ball, he knows it is game to be
:39:58. > :40:08.good. -- going to be good. It seems that Milos is hoping it is
:40:09. > :40:24.going to be good. UMPIRE: Game and first set, Federer,
:40:25. > :40:30.6-4. SUE BARKER: So, the first set to
:40:31. > :40:36.Federer, and we will be back in a moment. Some results from earlier
:40:37. > :40:41.today, and Novak Djokovic is through to his 14th Grand Slam final. But he
:40:42. > :40:47.had to do it the hard way against Grigor Dimitrov who led 6-3 in the
:40:48. > :40:53.fourth set tie-break. But Djokovic came back to win it in four sets. So
:40:54. > :41:03.he is through to the final here once again. The champion of 2011 has his
:41:04. > :41:06.sights on another title. And in the Mixed Doubles
:41:07. > :41:10.quarterfinals, disappointment for Jamie Murray. He and Jamie Dellacqua
:41:11. > :41:26.beaten by the 14th seeds. And disappointing news for Britain
:41:27. > :41:38.as well after the brave battle on Centre Court yesterday, British
:41:39. > :41:45.interest in the Mixed Doubles ends in the last eight. Those are the
:41:46. > :41:53.scenes on Court Number One earlier. Back on centre right now.
:41:54. > :42:03.COMMENTATOR: Roger Federer has never lost at this stage in Wimbledon. He
:42:04. > :42:11.has so many records, I'm sure he has lost count. If you were Raonic here,
:42:12. > :42:19.would you try to take some pays off your first serve? He has plenty of
:42:20. > :42:25.power, he needs to look at keeping that percentage higher. He can go
:42:26. > :43:11.for it, but he needs to get off to a better start.
:43:12. > :43:19.Don't worry about placement, just hit. 118 out wide, 135 right at
:43:20. > :43:32.him. Mixing it up. UMPIRE: Game, Raonic. First game,
:43:33. > :43:37.second set. Raonic needs to build a bit of
:43:38. > :43:42.pressure. Losing his serve in the first game gave Federer the
:43:43. > :43:49.immediate momentum. Interesting to watch both these guys on the court
:43:50. > :43:55.and how calm I are, yet both of them with very fiery temperaments as
:43:56. > :44:01.juniors, Roger in particular. Raonic himself. There is a man with a fiery
:44:02. > :44:10.temper, even when he was playing professionally!
:44:11. > :44:28.Are you saying Mac never got it under control? I would never make
:44:29. > :44:30.that accusation. I would never say that there is one way that you have
:44:31. > :44:36.to be in this game. If you have the passion, you should
:44:37. > :45:23.show it. He had the school going for him. Not
:45:24. > :45:34.a bad play. UMPIRE: Game, Federer. One game all,
:45:35. > :45:52.second set. You talk about being patient. I
:45:53. > :46:01.thought Federer was impressive against Wawrinka. He kept his head
:46:02. > :46:03.down, got the tie-break. Let's see whether round which the patient
:46:04. > :46:40.here. -- Raonic can be patient. Raonic can't expect to hit one ball
:46:41. > :46:48.and the point be over, Federer is way too good for that.
:46:49. > :46:54.But when you can count on that... That is the equaliser out there,
:46:55. > :47:42.isn't it? Exactly. He is a pretty imposing figure once
:47:43. > :48:01.he gets up to the net. On grass, if you serve that well,
:48:02. > :48:02.why not serve and volley once again, a game, just to keep your opponent
:48:03. > :48:24.guessing. I think in fairness to Raonic, he
:48:25. > :48:32.has tried to incorporate that more and more into his game.
:48:33. > :48:40.You talk about different styles of players, different styles of movers,
:48:41. > :48:50.and having watched Dimitrov and Jock at -- Djokovic sliding around the
:48:51. > :49:11.court, and Federer glides and doesn't slide.
:49:12. > :49:19.And even in this early part of the second set, there will be a few
:49:20. > :49:37.alarm bells ringing in round which's mind. -- Raonic.
:49:38. > :49:43.Do you get the feeling that he just cant too much on the first serve?
:49:44. > :49:55.That if the ball comes back, he isn't ready? I think so.
:49:56. > :50:07.I think that is what happened right there. He thinks the serve is meant
:50:08. > :50:12.to win the point. It is not, it is meant to set up the point. He has
:50:13. > :50:13.had 60% of unreturned service in the Championships, and that won't happen
:50:14. > :51:15.against Federer. TIM HENMAN: The beauty of getting to
:51:16. > :51:23.the net is that it doesn't give Federer the opportunity to use all
:51:24. > :51:30.the great shots that he has had. And it looks like when Raonic is that
:51:31. > :51:38.the net, he is going to be difficult to pass, he is imposing. It is
:51:39. > :51:40.difficult to incorporate it more into his game, but it will
:51:41. > :51:49.definitely be good tactic on grass and against Federer. Surely one of
:51:50. > :51:53.the toughest things from Raonic as well is to work out what speed you
:51:54. > :52:05.should serve and volley at. The faster he serves, the quicker it is
:52:06. > :52:10.back. Good point. It just allows him to know that he can't float the ball
:52:11. > :52:17.back to three feet above the net. It just keeps them off guard just a
:52:18. > :52:20.little bit. He has earned the respect of so many fans around the
:52:21. > :52:24.world, not just from his home nation, with the elegance of his
:52:25. > :53:17.play and the effort that goes into it, as well.
:53:18. > :53:26.The word that Ljubicic used before this match, what was the one thing
:53:27. > :53:35.that you learned? And he said, he is unpredictable.
:53:36. > :54:35.There is no pattern of play that you can really look into.
:54:36. > :54:45.Just a little cumbersome from Raonic there. To go back to what you said
:54:46. > :54:52.about Roger being put the ball, he is not afraid to let his imagination
:54:53. > :55:00.playing to his game -- Roger being unpredictable.
:55:01. > :55:05.Sometimes you get into one way of playing that allows your opponent to
:55:06. > :55:08.run along the baseline from side to side, and the rhythm comes in and it
:55:09. > :56:06.is easier to play. Again, he's asking a lot of him
:56:07. > :56:50.self. UMPIRE: Game, round which. --
:56:51. > :56:54.Raonic. Raonic leads. One thing that Roger is looking to
:56:55. > :56:59.do a lot of the time on the return is to try to find a way to get to
:57:00. > :57:05.this man's backhand so he has to hit the backhand with his first shot
:57:06. > :57:08.rather than the forehand. It is something not too many players are
:57:09. > :57:12.able to do, because most people are trying to get the ball back in the
:57:13. > :57:17.court anyhow, but you see here from Roger's perspective how he is trying
:57:18. > :57:26.to drift the ball as best you can to wards that I will hand Raonic. When
:57:27. > :57:31.he does get his forehand into play, he is exceptionally dominant. You
:57:32. > :57:43.can see at the bottom of the picture there how many times he has tried to
:57:44. > :57:49.hit forehand out of shop -- shot. It certainly is his power shot, and he
:57:50. > :57:52.runs an awful long way sometimes to get around that backhand, but in
:57:53. > :58:07.turn, that puts so much pressure on making the shot so good, errors
:58:08. > :58:11.creep in. Which means that hitting a backhand is what he has to do, and
:58:12. > :58:14.he is ready for it, I can't stress that enough. He seems to be wanted
:58:15. > :59:18.hit only one or two shops. His serve has always been a weapon,
:59:19. > :59:44.but he has worked on the rest of his game to make it better.
:59:45. > :59:54.UMPIRE: Game, Federer. New balls, please. Three games all, second set.
:59:55. > :00:00.And he has done it the hard way, as well, Raonic. He had to take the
:00:01. > :00:10.cheap times back in Toronto, six 30 AM before school -- 6:30am. And
:00:11. > :00:16.later night after school, he had to work out how to set up the ball
:00:17. > :00:22.machine had Raonic to get out there and hit tennis balls. It looks
:00:23. > :00:29.glamorous when you are at Wimbledon and was always meant to be, but for
:00:30. > :00:33.everyone Milos Raonic, there are hundred kids out there who didn't
:00:34. > :01:27.get here and they took all the trouble.
:01:28. > :01:37.second serve. You expect to get the width when you get it out wide. But
:01:38. > :01:42.to get the width on the court. It is coming down from such
:01:43. > :01:44.angle. He is so tall. The board takes off on the court. -- the
:01:45. > :02:47.ball. APPLAUSE
:02:48. > :02:50.Talk about the enormous speed on Raonic's serve. That wonders not
:02:51. > :02:54.away from Federer, it was in the hitting zone, and it came back with
:02:55. > :03:19.interest. -- that one does not get away.
:03:20. > :03:27.APPLAUSE Game Raonic. Raonic leads. A bit of
:03:28. > :03:31.a psychological chains coming up. You were talking about scoreboard
:03:32. > :03:36.pressure. This is good. -- change. You're in the territory of one blood
:03:37. > :03:42.service game. Raonic has done a good job, he has found his rhythm. -- the
:03:43. > :03:48.one bad service game. Federer will be aware of that committee knows
:03:49. > :03:54.setup could prove costly. I'm thinking back to 1991, I think it
:03:55. > :04:03.was the semifinal with Stefan Edberg who is in Federer 's box. Edberg 's
:04:04. > :04:06.opponent won that day, and doesn't break serve. I'm sure Raonic will be
:04:07. > :04:15.looking for history to repeat itself.
:04:16. > :04:20.He has been enjoying his time back on the tour, Stefan Edberg.
:04:21. > :04:26.Especially here at Wimbledon where he is a member. I saw him yesterday
:04:27. > :04:29.and Queen's Club out hitting in the sun. He still looks like he could
:04:30. > :04:37.come and hear and playwright not, he's good shape. -- here, and
:04:38. > :04:41.playwrights now. He has had a strong affinity with London over the years,
:04:42. > :04:47.he's made it his pace over the years. -- his play right now. I was
:04:48. > :04:50.fortunate enough to play with him. Unfortunately none of his greatness
:04:51. > :05:07.rubbed off on me. LAUGHTER APPLAUSE
:05:08. > :05:10.Mr Federer called on the left side of the service line, it was called
:05:11. > :05:50.out. Second serve. Mr Federer has two challenges
:05:51. > :05:54.remain. When you're a big guy and you don't have the balance of image
:05:55. > :06:06.of or Djokovic it can be nasty, but he did well to come out unscathed.
:06:07. > :06:08.-- of Djokovic or Dimitrov. It is a big frame to be throwing around out
:06:09. > :06:40.there on the court. That was three good firm solid shots
:06:41. > :07:12.but they are too few and far between.
:07:13. > :07:17.Lucky and great, a pretty irresistible combination. That is
:07:18. > :07:26.why you go to a bigger frame. You play for the whole frame so you
:07:27. > :07:30.might as well use it. -- you pay. Not quite out of the middle of the
:07:31. > :08:02.racket but very effective. The pressure back on Raonic.
:08:03. > :08:09.He almost looks like he is holding the racket flat. It is almost a week
:08:10. > :08:11.grip around toward the backhand side. But he is so loose with his
:08:12. > :08:42.wrist flattens it out. APPLAUSE
:08:43. > :08:51.Four Raonic completely unawares. -- the court. -- he caught. He was
:08:52. > :09:26.thinking the backhand was giving crosscourt. -- going.
:09:27. > :09:36.APPLAUSE That was the luxury of playing the
:09:37. > :09:43.ball back. Raonic could have taken that one out of the air. No first
:09:44. > :10:07.serves in the match like that, at this stage it will prove costly.
:10:08. > :10:09.Federer would have loved to make him play one more ball there, the chance
:10:10. > :10:27.to get it back in play. The challenge on the right-hand
:10:28. > :10:33.side. The ball was called out. What do you think of this one? Certainly
:10:34. > :10:37.very close. Just wait. Having had a delay between the first and second
:10:38. > :10:51.serves it is sometimes not easy, certainly at 4-4, 15-40. -- just
:10:52. > :11:05.wide. APPLAUSE Nothing seems to raffle Federer.
:11:06. > :11:09.Virtually it's 5-4. -- to ruffle. Federer leads. Talk about seizing
:11:10. > :11:12.the opportunity, a second serve on break point, solid return. One
:11:13. > :11:22.chance with a backhand up the line, just executed to perfection. Only
:11:23. > :11:28.preparation, good shoulder turn, the ball out in front. -- early. Picks
:11:29. > :11:33.his spot. How early has he decided to take that up the line? As soon as
:11:34. > :11:41.the ball comes across the net I think, Raonic likes to camp in the
:11:42. > :11:46.backhand side, this is his moment. You give a player like Federer who
:11:47. > :11:51.knows or to dislike to be out there, and has been in this position over
:11:52. > :11:55.and over. -- what it is like. He knows the importance of moment but
:11:56. > :12:01.he also knows when to push and go forward. It has certainly given him
:12:02. > :12:13.two or three break points in a row. That is dangerous. APPLAUSE
:12:14. > :12:19.He comes out serving for the set, he is not going to let down, he's not
:12:20. > :12:21.going to say I've done my job, he will get down to work even more, to
:12:22. > :14:04.close this out. It was a mess with a purpose, it
:14:05. > :14:07.wasn't just a wild shot. Everyone misses them sometimes. It had a
:14:08. > :14:37.purpose, he was going there for a reason. -- a miss. APPLAUSE
:14:38. > :14:44.The first one he kind of got away with, good reflexes on the second
:14:45. > :14:53.one saved the day. APPLAUSE Now very much in pole position.
:14:54. > :15:12.He has been exactly that, perfect, it has been composed, clinical. He
:15:13. > :15:16.has been patient. He is two thirds of the way to another Wimbledon
:15:17. > :15:20.final. He is halfway off the court to the bathroom. I'm sure when
:15:21. > :15:27.Stefan Edberg and Roger were talking about this match last night, or this
:15:28. > :15:32.morning, you couldn't have envisaged a more ideal start. A couple of
:15:33. > :15:41.break point opportunities in both sets, he took them, clinical on his
:15:42. > :15:48.serve. Two sets to the good, one more to go. It hasn't been anything
:15:49. > :15:57.this spectacular, he has gone about his business and take in what has
:15:58. > :16:00.been given to him. -- taken. Ultimately that is the talent gap
:16:01. > :16:04.between somebody who is a lot younger, trying to achieve many of
:16:05. > :16:08.the things Roger has already achieved in the game. Not everybody
:16:09. > :16:12.is able to stay with a guy like Federer because he has so many
:16:13. > :16:18.layers to his game. He can win a lot of ways, right now it seems to me
:16:19. > :16:23.Raonic was my greatest tournament, as he has had, he has had a
:16:24. > :16:27.tremendous tournament, he has only one way to win. He has two serve
:16:28. > :16:33.Roger of the court. He is not doing that. He has only won 30% of the
:16:34. > :16:38.second serve points he has been able to win. That is not good enough
:16:39. > :16:44.against a great player like Roger. Once the ball is in play, he has a
:16:45. > :16:46.variety of opportunities. He can make you come he can overpower you,
:16:47. > :16:51.you can win a lot of ways. -- and make you come he can overpower you,
:16:52. > :16:57.you can win a lot of ways. -- Nick you. The experience he is getting
:16:58. > :17:00.today, he can serve volumes for him down the road. If you looks at it,
:17:01. > :17:06.the right way, the match is not over, but the situation he is in
:17:07. > :17:17.now, he has a heavy mountain to climb. You make the comparison with
:17:18. > :17:20.the rest of the tournament. Raonic was winning 88% on his first serve
:17:21. > :17:25.points one, winning 80 today which is a good percentage, he has been
:17:26. > :17:28.winning 66% binders second serve against the other opponents, and
:17:29. > :17:34.against Federer that is where he's had a huge impact. -- on his second
:17:35. > :17:39.serve. The scenario is still the same for Raonic as we start the
:17:40. > :17:42.third set, he has two when 3 cents years to get through to his
:17:43. > :17:49.first-ever Wimbledon final. -- to win three sets if years. If he is
:17:50. > :18:23.to. Federer has lost three times in his
:18:24. > :18:29.career from two setup. Once he was coming back off an ankle injury. And
:18:30. > :18:32.against Jo-Wilfried Tsonga at Wimbledon in 2011, and construct a
:18:33. > :18:38.pitch in the semifinals at the U.S. Open. In the same year. -- two sets
:18:39. > :18:57.up. APPLAUSE
:18:58. > :19:01.He comes in with a good enough shot but he doesn't get in close enough.
:19:02. > :20:02.Top-spin backhand, he doesn't get in close enough to cut the volley.
:20:03. > :20:08.Two of those little sliced backhand in this skin, that Roger has missed.
:20:09. > :20:15.Stay low and hit through that also. -- this game.
:20:16. > :20:28.Game Raonic. APPLAUSE First game, third set. A bit of
:20:29. > :20:32.encouragement for Raonic. More encouragement... He lost one of the
:20:33. > :20:36.time from 2-0 up against Leyton Hewitt in the Davis Cup. A pretty
:20:37. > :20:41.big match that one as well. It has happened, but it is a long journey
:20:42. > :20:48.as both you guys know, from 2-0 down. It is just one point but
:20:49. > :21:04.again, one game at a time for Raonic. -- at the time.
:21:05. > :21:12.Roger wants to close this outcome he once an early date to get away and
:21:13. > :21:17.rest for what is to come. -- early day. He is out for a long afternoon.
:21:18. > :22:03.-- you would like. If you're trying to plot the
:22:04. > :22:09.comeback for Raonic and you reflect that Federer has only lost his serve
:22:10. > :22:14.once in the whole tournament... APPLAUSE
:22:15. > :22:30.I personally wouldn't be putting a lot of money on it.
:22:31. > :24:31.What do you think is going through his coaches mind now? -- coach's.
:24:32. > :24:39.It's good. APPLAUSE I think his coach quite possibly
:24:40. > :24:41.could be planning which part of Croatia he will go to on holiday
:24:42. > :25:25.tomorrow. Normally when you hit the body serve
:25:26. > :25:30.your train to tie the guy up a little bit to get a weak response
:25:31. > :25:38.and put the volley away. -- trying to. Raonic looks like he is going
:25:39. > :25:54.for the Knockout Punch. Almost there.
:25:55. > :26:06.Game running. That is some weapon. -- Raonic. To know you can count on
:26:07. > :26:16.that. That brings me to the point, what would you work on with him if
:26:17. > :26:20.he were his coach? -- you were. They're moving in the right
:26:21. > :26:24.direction, second serve returns, looking to maybe be a bit more
:26:25. > :26:30.aggressive. But it is really about imposing his game, his physique, on
:26:31. > :26:35.the match. And centring around his service games. This is what they've
:26:36. > :26:40.done a lot of in terms service games. This is what they've
:26:41. > :27:01.done a of the physical work, keeping lower. Being a big guy,
:27:02. > :27:09.done a of the physical work, keeping himself. Instead of putting it on
:27:10. > :27:17.Federer. Do you know those two? No, but they obviously know each other
:27:18. > :27:22.well. How do you think Raonic could have an impact on Federer 's serve?
:27:23. > :27:26.I would take a bigger chance have an impact on Federer 's serve?
:27:27. > :27:32.second service, I wouldn't just play have an impact on Federer 's serve?
:27:33. > :27:38.the ball back. I would step in here and give it a go. And try to get
:27:39. > :27:38.the ball back. I would step in here something things going, move
:27:39. > :27:38.forward. Quite disarming for Raonic when your
:27:39. > :28:28.best isn't good enough. APPLAUSE
:28:29. > :28:37.He has done that well today, the wide serve. He has won a lot of free
:28:38. > :28:54.points, opened up in court for his next shot.
:28:55. > :29:34.all? I did not. That was a lovely shot I was watching before the
:29:35. > :30:00.tournament in Wimbledon documentaries, when you played....
:30:01. > :30:09.It is interesting, I see the bags the players bring out onto the court
:30:10. > :30:12.and we were lucky to get three, maybe four rackets into a bag. It
:30:13. > :30:19.looks like they are bringing out a suitcase these days.
:30:20. > :30:35.Federer will have ten in there, one for practice and nine for the match.
:30:36. > :30:43.Different tensions? Probably. Certainly if it is very hot, in a
:30:44. > :31:13.hot climate, you might have a couple that are in bit tighter.
:31:14. > :31:17.Unquestionably, times have changed, certainly in the modern game as
:31:18. > :31:26.well. You can see how dominant the servers
:31:27. > :31:44.were. The returns were not an important
:31:45. > :31:50.obvious but none of them residing in the top ten. When you throw forward
:31:51. > :31:54.to 2014, you can see three of those are not in the top ten although
:31:55. > :32:01.Dimitrov is going to come up into it right now. You can see how dominant
:32:02. > :32:06.and how important the return of service. They are amazing stat and
:32:07. > :32:11.it emphasises how well they return and how well they play from the back
:32:12. > :32:14.of the court. They neutralise the serve when they get into the
:32:15. > :32:19.baseline rallies. They can be the dominant factor. Heat was talking
:32:20. > :32:26.before this tournament about how important he said return of serve
:32:27. > :32:30.was. -- Pete was talking. I played against some guys who had some
:32:31. > :32:36.pretty big serves. John McEnroe was one of them. It was always
:32:37. > :32:40.important... We had to get the ball down a little bit. They were coming
:32:41. > :34:08.in behind it and putting on the pressure right away.
:34:09. > :34:12.He is quick to move up and catch double, high enough to go for the
:34:13. > :34:20.swinging forehand volley. UMPIRE: Game, Federer. Three games
:34:21. > :34:39.all, third set. Roger has to keep his energy as
:34:40. > :34:44.well, he cannot afford to get a little lax, he to keep the pressure
:34:45. > :34:48.on. Why the looks of those shots, he is doing just that! -- by the looks
:34:49. > :35:41.of those shots. He takes his time pretty good right
:35:42. > :35:44.here. He lets Roger make the first move. He plays the ball back down
:35:45. > :36:45.the line. UMPIRE: Game, Raonic. Raonic leads,
:36:46. > :36:51.four games to three, third set. It is keeping it competitive here in
:36:52. > :36:55.the third set. That start of his serve is very unique. I am trying to
:36:56. > :37:01.think of other players that have started like that, Stefan Edberg? A
:37:02. > :37:06.similar start to the serve? He is really turning his wrist, with the
:37:07. > :37:10.racket almost hanging flat to the ground, I think the beauty of it is
:37:11. > :37:13.that he is so loose in his arms and when he gets to the throwing
:37:14. > :37:18.position, the racket head is up and he is ready to unload. It is obvious
:37:19. > :37:20.with his height and frame on the length of his arms, he really can
:37:21. > :37:35.generate a massive amount of power. Interesting watching him out here in
:37:36. > :37:40.the semis. I go back to the root that he took to get to world tennis.
:37:41. > :37:43.Back when he was a teenager, still towards the end of his school
:37:44. > :37:47.career, he was talking about going to university. It was a couple of
:37:48. > :37:52.weeks before he was going off that he did a deal with his parents, he
:37:53. > :38:30.said, give me two years to break the top 100.
:38:31. > :39:28.do you think he is biding his time just to get into a tie-breaker? He
:39:29. > :40:03.is hoping he gets to a tie-break. Business end of the third set, down
:40:04. > :40:28.two sets, he really needs a strong service game here.
:40:29. > :40:38.That is not the start he wanted. He missed the first serve, rallying
:40:39. > :40:43.ball, on full stereo, cannot afford to give Federer these donations. --
:40:44. > :40:54.unforced error. APPLAUSE
:40:55. > :41:16.That could be that. That is one way play, he had all the
:41:17. > :41:19.time in the world to do many things with that short forehand, he still
:41:20. > :41:24.chose to hit the ball deep enough to Federer.
:41:25. > :41:54.You cannot do that, he has to mix his shots up a bit.
:41:55. > :42:02.Raonic was almost forced to come in and Federer's terms. He knew we
:42:03. > :42:03.could not really get much stick and that ball and all of a sudden, three
:42:04. > :42:19.more break points. -- on that ball. With a weapon like that, you can
:42:20. > :43:12.never count him out. Federer leads five games to four.
:43:13. > :43:18.And a perfect time to break the serve of Raonic. He has got one game
:43:19. > :43:22.left, the Canadian, to figure out a way to try to break Federer for the
:43:23. > :43:27.first time. When you look at his game, you can say he does not return
:43:28. > :43:30.well, Raonic, but it is not the returns that have lost him the match
:43:31. > :43:42.today, it is his serve. You look at that game, really, four unforced
:43:43. > :43:50.errors. Federer had that sliced backhand into the net. There has
:43:51. > :43:56.been a lack of first serves Raonic has been unable to get. There is
:43:57. > :43:59.only one winner in these rallies. He could take a wealth of knowledge
:44:00. > :44:04.from this match and he could walk off here and it and talk with his
:44:05. > :44:08.coach and say, this, this, this is what we are working on starting
:44:09. > :44:13.tomorrow. By the time the U.S. Open comes along, he could have changed
:44:14. > :44:18.things. If he goes about it the right way. This could ruin you
:44:19. > :45:24.mentally or make you mentally. You are never in shock at how well
:45:25. > :46:28.this guy plays but you are always in awe.
:46:29. > :46:41.Was that the right shot, poor execution, all the wrong shot? He is
:46:42. > :46:51.on a roll. If he loses his game, he will look back on that for sure.
:46:52. > :47:29.Tough to tell Roger Federer not to go for a shot.
:47:30. > :47:36.The final line-up here at Wimbledon is complete. It will be Roger
:47:37. > :47:42.Federer up against Novak Djokovic on Sunday. A comprehensive victory by
:47:43. > :47:47.the former champion. He will be looking for his eighth Wimbledon
:47:48. > :47:55.title. CHEERING The perfect performance.
:47:56. > :48:03.It really was. Taking into account he has only lost his serve once in
:48:04. > :48:10.the whole tournament, there were a couple of break point opportunities.
:48:11. > :48:15.One for Raonic that was saved with another great serve from Federer and
:48:16. > :48:20.he will be delighted to get through. Straight sets, one hour and 41
:48:21. > :48:28.minutes. No energy wasted. Another fantastic performance. He took care
:48:29. > :48:38.of business well. He knew what he was up against. He comes out, you
:48:39. > :48:43.want to take care of business. On and off as quick as possible.
:48:44. > :48:52.Sometimes it is tough to keep your concentration. Especially when shots
:48:53. > :49:02.are just rolling off your racket. He has got to be very happy with the
:49:03. > :49:05.way he played. Experience at the end here at Wimbledon outlasted youth in
:49:06. > :49:08.terms of the semifinals, we have seen the emergence of a couple of
:49:09. > :49:13.big stars potentially down the road. It was not to be their
:49:14. > :49:18.Wimbledon. It will either be Novak's or Roger's. That is how he
:49:19. > :49:23.finished it off, another telling serve. And they telling looked in
:49:24. > :49:32.those eyes. He has another chance to win another Grand Slam. Looking for
:49:33. > :49:35.his 18th overall. The longevity as well the excellence is something
:49:36. > :49:49.that everybody respects, even great champions that are in his box.
:49:50. > :49:54.Congratulations, a ninth Wimbledon final. That looked a really
:49:55. > :50:01.controlled performance. How did it feel? Big concentration. I really
:50:02. > :50:04.had to focus on every point. You always say that and you always do it
:50:05. > :50:12.but I think today particular I had to be careful of my service games.
:50:13. > :50:20.I think I was unbelievably effective. I am very happy. I am
:50:21. > :50:24.extremely happy to be in another final. Understandable. You have only
:50:25. > :50:33.dropped one set this tournament so far. Have you had the perfect past
:50:34. > :50:39.the Sunday's final? I think so. I did not play so well here last year.
:50:40. > :50:43.I expect a lot of myself fear so I was happy to get through the first
:50:44. > :50:51.round without any problems. -- I expect a lot of myself here.
:50:52. > :50:57.This match was not easy but I got it done and I can look forward to
:50:58. > :51:02.another great match with Novak. Tennis fans around the world are
:51:03. > :51:07.very excited. How much are you looking forward to that challenge as
:51:08. > :51:10.a professional athlete? It is always great, we always play good matches
:51:11. > :51:13.against each other. We have played a lot in the last six months and it
:51:14. > :51:20.has gone back and forth a little bit. Novak is a great champion and
:51:21. > :51:24.he has been around for a long time so he is used to these occasions as
:51:25. > :51:28.well. He already has the trophy in the past so he knows how to get it
:51:29. > :51:33.done. I hope it will be a good match. Players tend to not want to
:51:34. > :51:39.look too far into the future but for someone of your calibre who has done
:51:40. > :51:46.that much, all of the titles, the prize money, what would an eighth
:51:47. > :51:51.Wimbledon title mean to you? A lot. I am unbelievably proud every time I
:51:52. > :51:54.can walk the grounds here and keep playing this tournament. I know I do
:51:55. > :51:59.not have ten left so I will try to enjoy it as much as I can. The first
:52:00. > :52:04.one was unbelievably special in 2003. I was able to play so
:52:05. > :52:10.successfully for so many years at Wimbledon, it has been an
:52:11. > :52:15.unbelievable thrill and that I get a chance to go through these emotions
:52:16. > :52:20.is great. Good luck in the final. SUE BARKER: well done, like the
:52:21. > :52:25.great champion that he is, he raised his game when it mattered in each of
:52:26. > :52:29.those sets. He has been in nine Wimbledon semifinals and he has won
:52:30. > :52:35.all of them and he has only dropped one set in the semifinals. He is
:52:36. > :52:39.heading for a record to win an eighth Wimbledon title and I would
:52:40. > :52:41.not bet against it. He will go back to world number three whatever
:52:42. > :52:49.happens on Sunday and Swiss number one. Roger Federer, back to his
:52:50. > :52:53.best. I am delighted to say Andrew and John are with me. We will talk
:52:54. > :52:57.in just a moment but let's get further reaction from our commentary
:52:58. > :53:02.team who are there. Jimmy, let's talk about Roger Federer. How
:53:03. > :53:07.impressed were you with his performance? I think he played the
:53:08. > :53:10.perfect match. He got off to a very quick start and he broke serve right
:53:11. > :53:15.away. It gave him the confidence that he could get the running serve
:53:16. > :53:22.in place and put the pressure back on the server. He took care of his
:53:23. > :53:27.own serve very well. He did not miss anything. He was on top of the ball
:53:28. > :53:32.and he moved well. He concentrated well. Sometimes when you are winning
:53:33. > :53:36.6-4, 6-4, you get into a lull and you lose your concentration and next
:53:37. > :53:39.thing you are in a dogfight. He did not do that, he went about his
:53:40. > :53:44.business as well as he could. I don't think Raonic put the kind of
:53:45. > :53:50.pressure on him that he wanted to. He did not serve as well as he
:53:51. > :53:54.wanted to. It was all Roger. After that first set and the next two
:53:55. > :53:59.sets, Roger raised the level of his game when it mattered. He is such a
:54:00. > :54:02.good front runner and it is amazing that within six points of the match
:54:03. > :54:07.starting, he has got the break of serve and that really did set the
:54:08. > :54:12.tone. Raonic hung in there and tried to build a bit of pressure, keeping
:54:13. > :54:16.his nose in front but as we saw in the 4-4 game, he could not find the
:54:17. > :54:20.first serves when he needed them. When they got into second serve
:54:21. > :54:25.points, Federer was so good at opening the court slowly and taking
:54:26. > :54:30.the chances and to be through to the Wimbledon final having only dropped
:54:31. > :54:34.his serve once in the whole tournament, that is such a good
:54:35. > :54:39.platform for him. He will be keen to continue on Sunday. A wonderful
:54:40. > :54:45.performance, everyone was talking about who might win the title. You
:54:46. > :54:51.never write off Roger Federer. He is possibly the favourite? Possibly, in
:54:52. > :54:55.that respect, he quite likes the matchup with Novak in particular.
:54:56. > :55:02.Not the same way that he struggles with Rafa. That final will be
:55:03. > :55:07.something that he will enjoy. What you see today, you do not hand these
:55:08. > :55:10.trophies to people who do not have an awful lot to their game. So many
:55:11. > :55:16.layers to their game like Jimmy had and Pete over the years. Raonic is a
:55:17. > :55:21.commendable player and he will only get better. But in those games where
:55:22. > :55:26.he struggled to find first serves, he was in his comfort zone and Roger
:55:27. > :55:28.knew that was the moment to strike and he struck perfectly.
:55:29. > :55:32.knew that was the moment to strike and he struck There is so little
:55:33. > :55:38.between these two great champions, Djokovic and Federer. Who has
:55:39. > :55:42.impressed you the most Jimmy? Djokovic, the way he is moving
:55:43. > :55:49.around the court, but Federer, he has not dropped his serve, only
:55:50. > :55:53.once. I don't think they played their best tennis yet. Coming into
:55:54. > :55:58.the final, both being there and knowing what it is like to have
:55:59. > :56:02.won, they have experienced everything there is to experience
:56:03. > :56:09.around this court. They will lift their games and find what it takes.
:56:10. > :56:13.I am looking for a match that goes the distance and there is such a
:56:14. > :56:20.little bit between them, as you said, to win the title, whoever
:56:21. > :56:25.gets... Not the break but the luck of the quarter, the luck of the
:56:26. > :56:30.banks or something will win. I am looking forward to an all court
:56:31. > :56:34.game, a lot of variety. Not just straightforward power but variety
:56:35. > :56:39.and imagination to enter into it. It will not only be a great match but
:56:40. > :56:45.the fans are in for a great treat. We are looking forward to it. When
:56:46. > :56:53.you look at the head-to-head, it is 18-16. They know each other so well.
:56:54. > :56:58.You feel that it is Federer's time? Everybody picks out a statistic that
:56:59. > :57:03.fits how they feel about it. Everybody is picking out the fact
:57:04. > :57:07.that Federer has dropped one serve. It is pinpoint and he knows exactly
:57:08. > :57:15.how to back it up. He has got his game completely managed. Only one of
:57:16. > :57:21.those contests they have played has been a Grand Slam final and that was
:57:22. > :57:26.Novak's first in 2007. But of course Nadal and Murray got involved. If
:57:27. > :57:32.you cannot lose your serve to Djokovic, you are playing well. And
:57:33. > :57:36.that is a key matchup, does Djokovic break the serve, does he get on top
:57:37. > :57:42.of it early, does he get a good read on it? They have played some of the
:57:43. > :57:48.best matches in history, these two. So much for a changing of the garden
:57:49. > :57:54.this year! Federer has that ability to lift his game and put the
:57:55. > :57:58.pressure on the Raonic serve. He took care of business on his own
:57:59. > :58:01.serve. He knew against Raonic that there would be bits and pieces where
:58:02. > :58:05.he knew against Raonic that they would be bits and pieces we might
:58:06. > :58:09.have a chance. He seemed to read the serve very well from Raonic. He got
:58:10. > :58:15.chances and he immediately took them. His game was almost simple
:58:16. > :58:19.today. He knew what he had to do and he waited for the chances and he
:58:20. > :58:24.took them right away. He rushes doesn't he? Raonic. Federer almost
:58:25. > :58:30.forced Raonic into making those errors. When somebody anticipates
:58:31. > :58:34.well, when they are standing where you want to hit the ball. When you
:58:35. > :58:39.know that whatever serve you hit will come back, floating back deep,
:58:40. > :58:45.it puts pressure on you and you make mistakes. But this is ace get
:58:46. > :58:59.further than Raonic has gone before. -- this is a step further. Federer
:59:00. > :59:04.has taken apart big servers before. Andy Roddick in countless Wimbledon
:59:05. > :59:13.finals. I am pleased to see the Federer-Djokovic final. We have an
:59:14. > :59:18.absolute box office matchup. They. As far as Raonic is concerned, his
:59:19. > :59:21.first Wimbledon semifinal, he will come back and learn from this
:59:22. > :59:26.experience because he is one of those tipped to be at the top in
:59:27. > :59:30.years to come. He is and he has too much of the best coaches in his
:59:31. > :59:34.corner. They will take him away from that match and they will look at it
:59:35. > :59:40.and say, we have to get a bit more variety and get a back-up plan.
:59:41. > :59:44.Things did not go right today and he kept on the same path and it was not
:59:45. > :59:49.good enough playing Federer. He needs some extra tricks, he needs to
:59:50. > :59:54.get a little bit more variety in his game. He has to have a back-up plan
:59:55. > :00:07.if that weapon is slightly off. You think Ivan Lopez chips -- Ivan
:00:08. > :00:13.Ljubicic is the right coach? A He is going to move to world number six, a
:00:14. > :00:19.career for him. Roger back to world number three. If you look at his
:00:20. > :00:23.record, where do we start? That is his semifinal record. Nine Wimbledon
:00:24. > :00:28.semifinals, we have only lost one set. If you look at the variety of
:00:29. > :00:40.players he has beaten. Andy Roddick. Lleyton Hewitt.
:00:41. > :00:50.So many names, key has beaten one and all. He loves the record. It
:00:51. > :00:54.would be great, but for him to be the sole owner of eight Wimbledon
:00:55. > :01:00.titles would mean the world. Again, it is ridiculous. It is like Nadal
:01:01. > :01:03.in the French. You look at it, see the number and think it is not
:01:04. > :01:08.possible. It is not possible what Roger has done. If he does again on
:01:09. > :01:16.Sunday, he is in the record books forever. He has had to wait a bit
:01:17. > :01:20.for this one. Wimbledon in 2012, the Australian before that, four years,
:01:21. > :01:33.he has not had a vast amount of success in those years. He has tried
:01:34. > :01:36.to hang on in his "old-age ". When I spoke to him the other night, I said
:01:37. > :01:44.you worked so hard. He always works it down -- plays it down. He goes
:01:45. > :01:47.down to divide, plays in the heat and is out there for hours and it is
:01:48. > :01:55.relentless. People say it is superhuman. Apparently when he was
:01:56. > :02:08.working with Paul, he went to Dubai, and they were just go for it.
:02:09. > :02:17.In that heat. Yon Borg was like that, he would take them one-on-one
:02:18. > :02:22.in five sets. They were handy on clay. Watching Federer warming up
:02:23. > :02:26.and getting ready, it is amazing. He looks quite slight on the TV. There
:02:27. > :02:33.is nothing to write about him when he's the court. Stefan Edberg and
:02:34. > :02:44.better on the coaching front. A big old rivalry. -- and Boris Becker. He
:02:45. > :02:48.looks like you did back in the 90s. As far as Novak Djokovic is
:02:49. > :02:53.concerned, a great match against Grigor Dimitrov. There were parts of
:02:54. > :02:57.the match where he was not at his best. There were a couple of periods
:02:58. > :03:04.where he was looking up at the box. He was sort of getting a bit
:03:05. > :03:08.negative. He got ahead and it looked liked he would close out and then he
:03:09. > :03:11.played some sloppy points. As John McEnroe was saying commonly found a
:03:12. > :03:16.way. When he needed to changes tactics he did. When he played a bad
:03:17. > :03:20.couple of points he got right back into it. There were times when you
:03:21. > :03:27.wondered a little bit with his mind. I think he is desperate. Utterly
:03:28. > :03:32.desperate to recreate the days of 2011 and 2012, when he was the man.
:03:33. > :03:36.He got rid of Federer and Nadal, in a way and he is desperate to do it
:03:37. > :03:41.again. I do think he can go up a gear. I think you will need to go up
:03:42. > :03:48.a gear from what we saw today. It was a tough match for him. Dimitrov
:03:49. > :03:52.played exceptionally well. Djokovic, the way he moves, such a competitor.
:03:53. > :03:57.That is the thing that gets me. That is what it means to him. He has a
:03:58. > :04:02.record of losing a lot of grand slam finals. It plays on your mind. That
:04:03. > :04:06.is what I'm saying about desperate, five of the last six finals he has
:04:07. > :04:10.been in he has lost any has lost the last three. He does not turn up to
:04:11. > :04:16.finish second. When the draw is done he thinks he wants to win. Those top
:04:17. > :04:21.days when he was the man and he got rid of Federer and Nadal commie was
:04:22. > :04:31.the boss. And he won the Davis Cup. He is only 27 bomb he thinks there
:04:32. > :04:37.is a lot left. - back he is only 27. Boris Becker, when you see him
:04:38. > :04:42.commie thinks he is king here. I am sure part of that has gone into
:04:43. > :04:45.Novak. I think the next day or so before this match, there will be
:04:46. > :04:50.conversations. Boris Becker will be pumping him up. Even the great
:04:51. > :04:54.champions have doubts. Djokovic's record in Grand Slams has not been
:04:55. > :04:58.great. Having someone like Boris in his corner, who will give him so
:04:59. > :05:04.much confidence, that could be the difference. I was just thinking as
:05:05. > :05:08.we watched the last point, I hope I was not sounding too disappointed on
:05:09. > :05:16.commentary. It's just I wanted a fifth set so badly. The crowd did as
:05:17. > :05:20.well. It was bubbling up nicely. Dimitrov will be back year after
:05:21. > :05:25.year, this loss will hurt him so badly. I know, but I think he has
:05:26. > :05:30.proved to everyone he was overawed by the occasion and he will be back
:05:31. > :05:33.in that match arena regained. He may never play a poorer first set in a
:05:34. > :05:39.match than he did there. He was not quite right, was he? He lost four
:05:40. > :05:49.straight points on his serve in one game. As the three doubles... And he
:05:50. > :05:54.missed his first. This is where he let Djokovic back into the game.
:05:55. > :05:58.Such a beautiful all court game. He was trying to force himself, impose
:05:59. > :06:03.himself in the match. It did bring up quite a few errors. That is what
:06:04. > :06:07.Roger Rasheed has been going on about. 25%, an exaggeration, but
:06:08. > :06:14.there is still some missing pieces in terms of shot selection. The
:06:15. > :06:18.great players, when they miss, they do not miss three or four times in a
:06:19. > :06:21.road like he did to lose a service game. Roger Rasheed will get onto
:06:22. > :06:27.him and say you cannot have those type of dips, four straight points,
:06:28. > :06:32.you cannot do that at this level. There will come a time where
:06:33. > :06:35.Djokovic perhaps will not be around. Federer won't. Murray is getting
:06:36. > :06:41.older. You look at the next generation, and for me he is the
:06:42. > :06:57.best of the lot, probably with dull couple of -- Alexander dull
:06:58. > :07:04.ultimately, the two big boys are in the finals. Absolutely. We were
:07:05. > :07:07.showing the errors of Dimitrov, but he was or is going to make mistakes
:07:08. > :07:12.because he was trying to force the match. He was the one who would have
:07:13. > :07:16.to be more aggressive. His game plan was very straightforward. Pretty
:07:17. > :07:20.much the same as against Murray. If you see a second serve, attack it,
:07:21. > :07:30.more difficult against Doctor pitch because he has more variety. --
:07:31. > :07:35.against Djokovic. It did not work will stop he was thinking. That was
:07:36. > :07:39.huge encouragement. As John McEnroe and John Lloyd were saying in
:07:40. > :07:46.commentary, he did change in the match and it almost paid off. He
:07:47. > :07:53.will beat it -- be thinking about the 6-3. Now we can hear what he had
:07:54. > :07:57.to say. Commiserations. I think many people have been pleased of what you
:07:58. > :08:04.have done and are proud of you. How do you feel in the immediate
:08:05. > :08:11.aftermath of the defeat? It is tough at the moment. It is never easy to
:08:12. > :08:14.talk after a match like that. All credit to know that commie deserved
:08:15. > :08:21.to win in the end. He fought tremendously in the tie-break. On
:08:22. > :08:28.the other hand, I am not satisfied with the result. I am giving myself
:08:29. > :08:33.positive vibes. I'm very excited about the prospect of the upcoming
:08:34. > :08:46.weeks and tournaments. I think I have built up a good, solid base. It
:08:47. > :08:53.is just one of those days, I have to keep my head up. You mentioned the
:08:54. > :09:00.fourth set, the tie-break, you had an opportunity. The focus from the
:09:01. > :09:02.camera was on your face. You looked so frustrated and distraught when
:09:03. > :09:08.the opportunity slipped, can you describe the moment for us? I had
:09:09. > :09:18.the momentum, I just needed one point. I counted my best serve. He
:09:19. > :09:25.was there. Even when I saved the first match point, I knew it would
:09:26. > :09:32.not be easy. The whole matching was serving really good. I had to count
:09:33. > :09:36.on something else. Luckily enough... Unluckily enough it did
:09:37. > :09:39.not go my way. You were slipping and sliding a little bit on court, where
:09:40. > :09:48.you a little uncomfortable with something? The court is getting a
:09:49. > :09:51.bit rougher. Whatever for me, it is the same for him, there are no
:09:52. > :09:58.excuses on that side. You just have to face the struggles. A commendable
:09:59. > :10:02.attitude after the match, Novak said you already a top player. I suppose
:10:03. > :10:08.that is some consolation to take out of it? I am not thinking like that
:10:09. > :10:17.any more. I think I have passed that stage. Of course, it is nice to hear
:10:18. > :10:21.it, but I do not think I have... I'm disappointed with the loss. I came
:10:22. > :10:28.on the court to win. That was my ultimate goal. I am a top player. I
:10:29. > :10:32.keep proving every week, every tournaments that I can be at the
:10:33. > :10:35.top, that is my goal. Often people at the end of the tournament say
:10:36. > :10:40.what are the lessons learned? Will it come into your head now? Is there
:10:41. > :10:50.something you have learned? The whole experience. Semifinals of the
:10:51. > :10:56.Grand Slam, it's so positive, I can take a lot of lessons out of that.
:10:57. > :11:01.The matches I have one, even the tight ones. I can stay positive.
:11:02. > :11:08.Thank your time, commiserations, hopefully see you again next year.
:11:09. > :11:17.SUE BARKER: Exciting times ahead for Dimitrov. He is a star. He is one of
:11:18. > :11:21.the most marketable sportspeople. You hope in two or three years time
:11:22. > :11:27.he is not too branded and packaged, if you like. You hope he retains his
:11:28. > :11:31.touchable tea. We have been watching the girls squeal at Queen's Club
:11:32. > :11:37.ever since he has been turning up there. He is just a really good
:11:38. > :11:40.bloke. His tennis is fantastic. The next time he goes a steep in a Grand
:11:41. > :11:47.Slam he will be that much more ready. I hope he remains open and
:11:48. > :11:51.transparent and as good people as he is now. I cannot get enough of him,
:11:52. > :11:57.he is fantastic. Looking ahead to the final, how do you see it? I
:11:58. > :12:00.agree with Andy. The big thing will be the Djokovic return and the
:12:01. > :12:08.Federer serve and who comes out in that balance. I am going to go for
:12:09. > :12:14.Djokovic. I think Federer is playing unbelievable tennis, but I think
:12:15. > :12:17.when it comes down to it I think Djokovic's return will be too much.
:12:18. > :12:25.I think it will be a close match, great match, but all, Djokovic. I
:12:26. > :12:30.don't know. Me neither. It is as 50-50 as it comes to me. He has lost
:12:31. > :12:34.his last three major finals, Djokovic. Roger is trying to get
:12:35. > :12:37.back in the winner's circle. They will both be desperate to do it. If
:12:38. > :12:42.Djokovic does a goes back to world number one. Amazing. It will be such
:12:43. > :12:47.vindication for the work he has done. I do not know. What about you?
:12:48. > :12:52.I think Federer is the favourite, purely because has Djokovic
:12:53. > :12:57.struggled in quite a few matches here. We know he can turn it around
:12:58. > :13:01.and come out and play his best but from what I have seen so far I think
:13:02. > :13:11.Federer has the advantage. OK, we will see what happens on Sunday. It
:13:12. > :13:17.is on at 1pm on BBC1. The build up the forehand. We look to the final.
:13:18. > :13:23.Djokovic against Federer. H eat when these two are on the court. Play
