:00:41. > :00:49.The hello and welcome to day three of Wimbledon 2014. The home
:00:50. > :00:55.supporters are out in force of beakers today Andy Murray plays his
:00:56. > :01:02.second round match against Slovenia's Blaz Rola. Who is he? We
:01:03. > :01:07.will find out more about Blaz in a moment. And Andy Murray today is
:01:08. > :01:12.guest editor of the famous comic that the know. It comes after his
:01:13. > :01:16.unique achievement of walking out here two days ago as the defending
:01:17. > :01:29.men's champion. COMMENTATOR: You can only wonder
:01:30. > :01:36.what is going through Andy Murray's mind as he walks back out here onto
:01:37. > :01:48.this famous court. Stunning defence from Murray Mac. It is like he has
:01:49. > :01:55.never left this court. A great start to his defence. A firm hold on this
:01:56. > :02:07.opening match here for Andy Murray. He leads. What a perfect start to
:02:08. > :02:22.the defence of his title here. It does continue, and there is Andy,
:02:23. > :02:26.a sporting superstar and now a comic hero. Today he looks for a place in
:02:27. > :02:31.the third round. He was out practising earlier. But the crowd
:02:32. > :02:35.were here even earlier, some queueing overnight. This is his
:02:36. > :02:40.opponent today, Blaz Rola, who has never beaten a player inside the top
:02:41. > :02:49.50. Today he's up against three seed and defending champion Andy Murray.
:02:50. > :02:52.Venus Williams knows all about the big occasion. Grigor Dimitrov has
:02:53. > :02:56.been in form this summer but he has never been to the Wimbledon third
:02:57. > :03:01.round and he could be today. Beautiful weather again. We are
:03:02. > :03:06.joined by Tracy. Great to see you both. Tim, was it nice being on your
:03:07. > :03:10.hill? Yes, it was quite busy. There were quite a few squatters, I
:03:11. > :03:17.think. It is a great atmosphere and I'm sure it will get better and
:03:18. > :03:21.better. Apologies to Dennis. But he has been doing a comic book. Did you
:03:22. > :03:28.have any strange requests when you were grand slam champion and world
:03:29. > :03:32.number one? When I was 16 or 17 they asked to make a dollar out of me. I
:03:33. > :03:37.said, no! I am too young for that kind of embarrassed. It is
:03:38. > :03:41.interesting and looking at the comic, it is out there for the kids
:03:42. > :03:47.and that is what Andy wants, to be an inspiration to the young players
:03:48. > :03:51.here. Yes, and at this time of year there is obviously a massive
:03:52. > :03:54.interest in the game and him being here as defending champion, he has
:03:55. > :03:58.the opportunity to inspire a lot of young people and that is so
:03:59. > :04:00.important, the grassroots development to get the next
:04:01. > :04:05.generation coming through. He will be really chuffed being the editor
:04:06. > :04:09.of the Beano, and it is quite a good read, actually. And as far as
:04:10. > :04:17.American tennis, that looks like it is on the up. Getting better.
:04:18. > :04:24.Madison won Eastbourne and Coco Vandeweghe winning as well. We could
:04:25. > :04:28.always have more. We always used to having the champions at the top and
:04:29. > :04:32.with Serena 32 years old now, those will be big shoes to fill when she
:04:33. > :04:37.eventually retires, although it does not look like any time to sin. We
:04:38. > :04:38.have seen some of the stars arriving but let's see who we will be
:04:39. > :04:50.following here today. One wind down and six to go the
:04:51. > :04:56.Andy. The third seed is up on Court One at one o'clock. Top seed Novak
:04:57. > :05:00.Djokovic was in clinical form in round one but today will be tougher.
:05:01. > :05:07.He faces the check Radek Stepanek who beat Andy Murray on the grass at
:05:08. > :05:11.Queen's a fortnight ago. Grigor Dimitrov won the title at Queen's.
:05:12. > :05:14.This afternoon on Centre Court the Bulgarian faces a former Wimbledon
:05:15. > :05:20.junior champion, Australian Luke Saville. No one can beat Venus
:05:21. > :05:26.Williams when it comes to Wimbledon experience. The five-time champion
:05:27. > :05:32.first played here in 1997. She is on Court three against Japan's Kurumi
:05:33. > :05:35.Nara. Agnieszka Radwanska is another who thrives at Wimbledon. The former
:05:36. > :05:45.junior champion was the runner-up two years ago and a semifinalist
:05:46. > :05:48.last year. She is up on centre court against Casey Dellacqua. Play is
:05:49. > :05:55.getting under way on some of the outside courts. You can watch live
:05:56. > :06:02.tennis if you want. On Court Number Two that matches on the red button.
:06:03. > :06:06.And on Court number three, we were just talking about Venus Williams.
:06:07. > :06:11.She's not out on court yet but the 30th seed is out there. That is
:06:12. > :06:16.getting under way shortly on the red button. There are plenty of
:06:17. > :06:21.different ways for you to get in touch with us during Wimbledon. You
:06:22. > :06:26.can get all the latest news and features on the BBC website. Send us
:06:27. > :06:30.your thoughts and questions. You can also get involved on the
:06:31. > :06:35.conversation on the BBC sport Facebook page. Andy made an
:06:36. > :06:37.emotional return here to Wimbledon on Monday, walking on Monday,
:06:38. > :06:44.walking onto Centre Court as defending champion. He is his
:06:45. > :06:47.thoughts on the day. When I woke up I was nervous. If you don't have
:06:48. > :06:55.those nerves, sometimes it shows you don't care that much. I still have
:06:56. > :07:00.very high expectations of myself. I have a lot of pressure on my self.
:07:01. > :07:09.From the media perspective, it may have been a bit quieter over the
:07:10. > :07:20.last week or so. But for myself I have a lot to prove. Coming back
:07:21. > :07:32.onto Centre Court was a nice feeling. The reception I got was
:07:33. > :07:38.very nice. The only possible way that she could look good is if he
:07:39. > :07:44.wins it again. Expectation high from this Centre Court crowd. It was time
:07:45. > :07:54.to get on with it and stop worrying about what happened last year. I
:07:55. > :07:57.struck the ball very cleanly from the beginning of the match right
:07:58. > :08:03.through to the end. I thought that the level of tennis in the second
:08:04. > :08:09.and third sets was very good and I was just happy with the way I
:08:10. > :08:12.played. Sometimes you come out and feel great at the beginning of this
:08:13. > :08:24.tournament but it can take around auto for you to feel your way into
:08:25. > :08:31.it. -- around or two. COMMENTATOR: Andy Murray moves through swiftly. I
:08:32. > :08:33.was determined to get through. I'm looking forward to getting out there
:08:34. > :08:51.again. Andy was certainly happy with his
:08:52. > :08:58.performance on Monday and so were his hands. The commentator we heard
:08:59. > :09:01.there knows and he very well, he is his former coach, and he has been
:09:02. > :09:09.watching him practice today alongside Gabby. Mark, Andy
:09:10. > :09:12.Murray's first match appeared to be full list. It was a tremendous
:09:13. > :09:16.performance from him, given the fact that he could not really dictate or
:09:17. > :09:19.understand how he was going to feel before he got between the lines, but
:09:20. > :09:25.that was the one thing he could control and when he got out there
:09:26. > :09:30.and played, particularly in the opening set against David Goffin, he
:09:31. > :09:34.looked great. It reminded me of his final performance at Wimbledon last
:09:35. > :09:40.year. I thought he hit the tennis ball as well as I have seen him play
:09:41. > :09:46.all year. He's playing left-handed today. Does it really matter for a
:09:47. > :09:51.player of Andy's ability? It is positive rather than negative, for
:09:52. > :10:01.sure. He is something like 57 and 18 against left-handers. It has fitted
:10:02. > :10:04.into his style of play and it will do again today. I'm not sure that
:10:05. > :10:12.Blaz Rola is going to add his list to that name. James Ward was talking
:10:13. > :10:19.just earlier passing on a few thoughts. It is smart from Emily's
:10:20. > :10:28.point of view and Andy, in terms of him having hand experience of how
:10:29. > :10:32.plans place. But given Andy's experience on the big court, his
:10:33. > :10:36.style of play, he does not need to worry too much about what his
:10:37. > :10:41.opponents do. Especially when the opponent is saying, if I were to
:10:42. > :10:45.win, it would be a major upset. It would be. And it is trying to take a
:10:46. > :10:50.little bit of the pressure off. Any tennis player who goes in has to be
:10:51. > :10:57.optimistic. It is only a two horse race. But Andy's calibre, the way he
:10:58. > :11:02.started this tournament, puts him in as a favourite. We might find out
:11:03. > :11:06.what James was passing on to Abbey because we will hear from James
:11:07. > :11:11.later on. Talking about the left-handers, tell us why it is so
:11:12. > :11:14.good for Andy. His game matches up well and in some respects, you would
:11:15. > :11:20.not expect that to be the case because you do not get the chance to
:11:21. > :11:25.play left-handers that often. As Mark just said, 15 of his losses
:11:26. > :11:30.against left-handers have been against Rafa. From a serving point
:11:31. > :11:36.of view, and the likes the slow one and white witches into left-hander
:11:37. > :11:42.-- a left-hander's backhand. He can play strong with his backhand
:11:43. > :11:46.crosscourt to open up the backhand, and he feels very comfortable. I
:11:47. > :11:50.think it will be the case today. Tracy, every match tennis is
:11:51. > :11:55.difficult but Andy is going to be looking at the straw and thinking,
:11:56. > :12:00.this is OK. Yes, and I am just wondering, playing with Jamie
:12:01. > :12:05.growing up, Jamie is a left-hander, hitting a lot of returns of the
:12:06. > :12:10.lefty's server as well... But Andy looked effect. It is good to see him
:12:11. > :12:14.looking relaxed because he had to be thinking for a long time, what is
:12:15. > :12:18.this going to be like going out there the first day, the first match
:12:19. > :12:23.as defending champion? He got such a round of applause, it was wonderful,
:12:24. > :12:29.and then he just executed it. There is anyone person in the history of
:12:30. > :12:35.Wimbledon that has ever gone out... Let's dissect his game a little bit.
:12:36. > :12:39.You have been watching particularly the Andy Murray backhand. Yes. His
:12:40. > :12:45.ground strokes in general, when he's proactive rather than reactive, that
:12:46. > :12:46.is when he plays his best. A good barometer for that is his backhand
:12:47. > :12:57.down the line. That is a sign that he's confident,
:12:58. > :13:04.and we commentated on that first round match on the first day on a
:13:05. > :13:09.fresh grass court, he timed the ball impeccably. There were no misses
:13:10. > :13:12.from baseline. There he is stepping into it, really looking to dictate
:13:13. > :13:16.and that is a good sign. Sometimes when Andy Murray gets a little bit
:13:17. > :13:20.defensive, he gets pushed a little bit further behind the baseline,
:13:21. > :13:23.that is when he's reacting, he is letting his opponent dictate too
:13:24. > :13:33.much, and for me it was a fantastic start. And we've even lend he made
:13:34. > :13:36.him a bit more aggressive, and -- and with his previous coach, he made
:13:37. > :13:43.him a bit more aggressive, and it looks like he is continuing with
:13:44. > :13:46.that. Yes, but after we have seen in the last couple of years,
:13:47. > :13:53.particularly with his previous coach and I think even on the forehand
:13:54. > :13:58.side, hitting -- flattening the forehand out a bit, it is just an
:13:59. > :14:02.aggressive minded Andy Murray. And as you get older, when your identity
:14:03. > :14:05.not mind chasing down the balls and running and playing that defensive
:14:06. > :14:09.style of game but as you get older, you realise, it is a bit more fun to
:14:10. > :14:12.make my opponent is running, and that is where he is really
:14:13. > :14:17.understanding the weapons he has. He hits the ball so cleanly, every ball
:14:18. > :14:25.from the baseline. Why don't I make my opponent to the running? He pays
:14:26. > :14:40.-- when he plays at way he can beat anyone. How impressive was that? It
:14:41. > :14:43.is OK. I am surprised that his opponents do not take advantage of
:14:44. > :14:52.his occasional weakness on his second serve. I think he is the type
:14:53. > :14:56.of player that if people are not taking advantage of his second
:14:57. > :15:00.serve, he's just happy to kick it in the box and start the rally. When
:15:01. > :15:04.people are bit more aggressive, he will be more inclined to try to mix
:15:05. > :15:12.it up, hit the spot is a little bit better. The big question for all of
:15:13. > :15:17.us is who is Blaz Rola? You should be in the comicstrip! It sounds like
:15:18. > :15:25.a great name. Imagine the headlines tomorrow! But who is he? Well, we
:15:26. > :15:34.send Lee McKenzie out in search of a few answers.
:15:35. > :15:47.Do you know who Blaz Rola is? No, I do not. No, I do not. Is the famous?
:15:48. > :15:54.Do you know who Blaz Rola is? No, I do not. Has anybody heard of Blaz
:15:55. > :16:03.Rola? I am Blaz Rola. Nice to meet you. Not everyone has heard of you.
:16:04. > :16:11.Tell us a little bit about yourself. I am a 191 seed. I'm six foot four.
:16:12. > :16:16.I come from the small country of Slovenia. It is really small since
:16:17. > :16:23.it is only 2 million people. Very relaxed, very outgoing guy, lefty. I
:16:24. > :16:29.do not want to give my tennis techniques and waited and eat so I
:16:30. > :16:33.am going to keep this all to myself. You have a great match coming up
:16:34. > :16:39.against the reigning Wimbledon champion. When you find that out how
:16:40. > :16:42.did it feel? I saw that I potentially had Andy in the second
:16:43. > :16:49.round and it gave me so much motivation for the first round. It
:16:50. > :16:52.was a key factor in my first match. What more can act coming tennis
:16:53. > :17:01.player want? Playing in Wimbledon AKC defending champion, -- against
:17:02. > :17:06.the defending champion. It will be a great experience. Some fast facts.
:17:07. > :17:13.What is your favourite shot? Forehand. Favourite surface? Between
:17:14. > :17:20.play and harder. I would go with clay. Who is your favourite player?
:17:21. > :17:25.Roger Federer. Are you going to beat Andy Murray? On paper, no chance.
:17:26. > :17:31.But we know that the sport is not played on paper, and hopefully I can
:17:32. > :17:42.place an good tennis. Oh, we like Blaz Rola! The bit
:17:43. > :17:47.worrying when he -- a bit worrying when he says his favourite surface
:17:48. > :17:52.is clay or hard... No mention of grass! When you see how his game has
:17:53. > :17:57.progressed, he has broken into the top 100, he has been at college in
:17:58. > :18:00.the States, and he do not get into the top 100 without being a good
:18:01. > :18:05.player. Andy will have done his research and he will not take it
:18:06. > :18:11.lightly. He will execute the game plan and he will be fine. He played
:18:12. > :18:15.for Ohio State University and was the champion in singles and doubles,
:18:16. > :18:20.so he has some nice credentials from college into making it
:18:21. > :18:24.professionally. And it is that a big occasion for him. He on Court One.
:18:25. > :18:30.He has been qualifying at the French Open. He was on the Centre Court at
:18:31. > :18:34.Queen's club, but this is a new experience. This is the state where
:18:35. > :18:41.every kid that starts playing and has dreams of being a tennis pro
:18:42. > :18:45.wants to play. It is not start use della -- the largest state in the
:18:46. > :18:50.world but it is great. When you go out there, it is daunting and you
:18:51. > :18:56.feel the history, you feel all the former greats that have played there
:18:57. > :19:02.on the same court. At 1pm Andy Murray will be walking out. We are
:19:03. > :19:06.on BBC One right through to 1pm and then for the start of the match at
:19:07. > :19:12.1pm we moved over to BBC Two. Another match we are looking forward
:19:13. > :19:15.to seeing is Grigor Dimitrov, heading out onto Centre Court. He's
:19:16. > :19:22.playing well this summer and he has been put in the mix of a possible...
:19:23. > :19:27.Very much so. There has been a lot of talk about his game and King
:19:28. > :19:33.progressing up the rankings and he has been able to add a lot of
:19:34. > :19:39.substance. -- and King progressing up the rankings. He looks
:19:40. > :19:50.comfortable on grass. He is very aggressive from the baseline.
:19:51. > :19:57.Talented as well. Some shots not in the manual! A great athlete. He has
:19:58. > :20:04.been put through the mill. He says he wants to make him as physically
:20:05. > :20:08.strong as the top four. It is a little bit like when Andy came on
:20:09. > :20:14.the scene. There was a massive amount of attention even at the age
:20:15. > :20:19.of 17, 18, 19. He did not have the physique. His body had not mature.
:20:20. > :20:23.You could see how much stronger Grigor Dimitrov is getting and will
:20:24. > :20:28.get and it will add to his game. He moves very well. When he gets
:20:29. > :20:34.stronger, it will help his shots and movement and endurance. He is going
:20:35. > :20:43.to have better results on top of it. When he won the junior event, he was
:20:44. > :20:48.known as baby Federer. He hated it. He has gradually worked his way up
:20:49. > :20:51.the rankings. It seems it takes the men and women a little longer today
:20:52. > :20:57.because of the physicality, the transition from the juniors into
:20:58. > :21:01.playing at the top of the game. With Grigor Dimitrov, we have talked
:21:02. > :21:04.about his potential. We can see the magical athleticism he has. Now I
:21:05. > :21:09.think finally some of the pieces of the puzzle are coming together. I
:21:10. > :21:16.think we have to give a lot of credit to his coach, not only
:21:17. > :21:20.physically. Grigor Dimitrov is much more muscular and fit. But also I
:21:21. > :21:25.think he has made him believe and when we saw him play at Queen's, he
:21:26. > :21:29.was down match point and he was so engaged in every point and never got
:21:30. > :21:33.negative. We are starting to see, in my opinion, the mental part of the
:21:34. > :21:38.game come together as well. He believes he belongs at the top of
:21:39. > :21:42.the game. The mental side of things is probably coming from experience.
:21:43. > :21:47.He has been on the tour for a few years now. It works both ways.
:21:48. > :21:49.Learning from that. Now he looks much more comfortable in the
:21:50. > :21:54.surroundings of any tournament. Coming into a Grand Slam, his
:21:55. > :22:00.results in the Grand Slams have not be amazing, but he is young and he
:22:01. > :22:04.is looking for a big breakthrough. He certainly is. Looking forward to
:22:05. > :22:08.seeing him on Centre Court. We have had many famous people here over the
:22:09. > :22:12.couple of days. Today it is a royal occasion because at last year the
:22:13. > :22:22.Duchess of Cornwall is arriving here, being met by the chairman. And
:22:23. > :22:28.also one of your committee members, Tim. Glad to see them doing some
:22:29. > :22:31.work! The Duchess loves tennis. She was here last year and was
:22:32. > :22:35.introduced to many former champions and current players. This is the
:22:36. > :22:46.players' entrance so this is how they arrive as well. Straight onto
:22:47. > :22:50.the members' lawn. This is a big moment for many of the people who
:22:51. > :22:58.work here. She is going to meet some of the honourees duets and the ball
:22:59. > :23:03.kids -- the honorary stewards. The ball kids go through months and
:23:04. > :23:07.months of training. They do. They are here in the indoor courts for a
:23:08. > :23:12.long time before. They really get put through their paces and they are
:23:13. > :23:16.fantastic. They are so fast and efficient on the courts. It is a
:23:17. > :23:23.great opportunity for them to meet royalty as well. So cute. You know
:23:24. > :23:27.they are fantastic because you never even noticed them. They just do
:23:28. > :23:32.their job. Also with the heat they have had to put up with, it is tough
:23:33. > :23:37.on the players, but it is tough on the ball kids because they are often
:23:38. > :23:40.at there for longer than the players. They have chaperones to
:23:41. > :23:46.make sure they keep hydrated. They are running around a lot on the
:23:47. > :23:51.courts. It is hot. We don't want them getting ill or injured. The
:23:52. > :23:56.Duchess will be meeting honorary stewards and military personnel. It
:23:57. > :24:02.is a special occasion. It is lovely they have the royal box. Do they
:24:03. > :24:07.have anything at the US Open? We have the president's box but it is
:24:08. > :24:11.not quite as plush. I missed the fact that when we played we used to
:24:12. > :24:21.curtsy when we got to the service line. You liked about? I did. I am
:24:22. > :24:25.glad the royal box is still there. I hated the tradition I was so
:24:26. > :24:35.nervous. The first time, I played Chris Evert and I was more nervous
:24:36. > :24:38.about getting the curtsy right! You are absolutely right, when your
:24:39. > :24:41.opponent was coming on the court, there were so many times they would
:24:42. > :24:47.say to me, just help me through this. They were so worried about...
:24:48. > :24:54.Are you talking about the match or the bow? They were much more worried
:24:55. > :25:00.about the bank. Getting it right. And also... It was worth an early
:25:01. > :25:05.break of serve. We used to go off the court together when I used to
:25:06. > :25:05.play. They don't do that any more. Someone
:25:06. > :25:09.the court together when I used to play. They don't do that any loses
:25:10. > :25:14.and they are right off the court! The Duchess will also be meeting
:25:15. > :25:19.some players. Laura Robson, working for us because she sadly had to have
:25:20. > :25:23.wrist surgery. She is one of the new generation of young stars. She would
:25:24. > :25:28.love to be out there because she was doing so well, but still with that
:25:29. > :25:32.passed on her wrist. And that is a tough injury. Surgery on the
:25:33. > :25:42.electricity, her playing wrist, and you see that so frequently these
:25:43. > :25:47.days. -- surgery on the left wrist, her playing wrist. And she loves the
:25:48. > :25:51.big occasion and that you cannot teach. And also the fact that she
:25:52. > :25:56.has such weak weapons. It is just natural but she has that big lefty
:25:57. > :26:03.serve and the monstrous beforehand, so a great way of winning points.
:26:04. > :26:08.And Milos Raonic, one of the Canadian new breed and what serves
:26:09. > :26:15.he has got. He is a man mountain, isn't he? He is a big guy and he's
:26:16. > :26:19.coach has been doing a lot of work on his game. A couple of years ago
:26:20. > :26:23.he was very defensive, playing a long way behind the baseline, and
:26:24. > :26:28.all of a sudden, a bit like Andy Murray, he has got him playing a bit
:26:29. > :26:32.more aggressively and serving huge, which is good on grass, and he is
:26:33. > :26:37.really prepared to take risks and that is a big combination.
:26:38. > :26:40.Interesting that Wimbledon is his least successful Grand Slam. You
:26:41. > :26:47.would think that the big serves would be well-suited it. Yes, he has
:26:48. > :26:53.a big game but I think understanding how to move on the grass can take a
:26:54. > :26:59.bit of time. He is a big guy, he probably does not enjoy not having a
:27:00. > :27:07.short footing -- assured of fitting all the time. Hopefully he can
:27:08. > :27:17.transfer across his skills from play. And Sabine Lisicki. Yes, and
:27:18. > :27:23.this is where her game comes out the best. Another one with big weapons
:27:24. > :27:27.as well. Yes and she hardly wins matches the rest of the year
:27:28. > :27:36.sometime and then comes to Wimbledon, and her game is hugely
:27:37. > :27:42.suited. Who else are you looking forward to seeing today? Venus.
:27:43. > :27:46.She's 34 now. We talk about Roger at 32 and how much longer is he going
:27:47. > :27:51.to play the game? But the less we need to savour. And everything she
:27:52. > :27:58.has been through as well, health-wise. Absolutely. In the last
:27:59. > :28:08.two years her energy has been zapped. She has five five Wimbledon
:28:09. > :28:13.titles. She has had to fight with the illness but she still wants to
:28:14. > :28:16.compete. Every time she gets here to Wimbledon the crass kind of
:28:17. > :28:17.jump-start her game. She is very comfortable. It is odd,
:28:18. > :28:21.jump-start her game. She is very comfortable. about seven years ago
:28:22. > :28:33.we were thinking, maybe the motivation has gone for the Williams
:28:34. > :28:37.sisters, and they have done so well since. It is an area of the game
:28:38. > :28:42.that has changed. I do not know if it is training techniques or what
:28:43. > :28:47.but players are playing for longer. I stopped at 33 and I felt that was
:28:48. > :28:51.quite a long time, and you look back and think that Pete Sampras stopped
:28:52. > :28:55.at 30. You see now someone like Stepanek playing at 35. Hopefully
:28:56. > :29:01.they can stick around because people like Venus and Serena have given the
:29:02. > :29:05.game so much, they are great champions. Do you think it is the
:29:06. > :29:13.recovering process? They are so much better with eating and hydrating and
:29:14. > :29:15.in the gym and the physios and the travel with the trainer and the
:29:16. > :29:17.masseuse, said their every need is catered to serve as athletes they
:29:18. > :29:18.can last longer. masseuse, said their every need is
:29:19. > :29:20.catered to serve as athletes Think what we could have done with a team
:29:21. > :29:25.like that? The muscles we what we could have done with a team
:29:26. > :29:32.like that? The muscles could have had! We just had a burger and a
:29:33. > :29:37.drink. Thank you very much, both. Let's get on with the tennis. I will
:29:38. > :29:44.show you what is on court and particularly on the two show courts.
:29:45. > :29:54.Coming up at 1pm, Radwanska against Dellacqua.
:29:55. > :30:00.Boy, did Novak Djokovic look good on Monday. The top seed up against
:30:01. > :30:08.Radek Stepanek, who put Andy Murray out of Queen's. Andy Murray is on
:30:09. > :30:23.court against Blaz Rola on Court Number One at 1pm. Under the courts,
:30:24. > :30:33.Zvonareva will finish her match against Tara Moore, which was
:30:34. > :30:36.stopped late last night. Broady also from Great Britain is in second
:30:37. > :30:56.round action against the former world number one Caroline Wozniacki.
:30:57. > :31:02.Sergiy Stakhovsky. He is the man who put and Roger Federer last year --
:31:03. > :31:08.on Court 12. A little bit cooler today. Let us find out what we can
:31:09. > :31:12.expect later. It is getting pretty busy. Anybody
:31:13. > :31:17.in the queue this morning will testify to the fact it was a cold
:31:18. > :31:24.start to the day. As the cloud comes across and the breeze picks up, it
:31:25. > :31:30.feels nippy. In the sunshine, it feels warm. Breaking it down into
:31:31. > :31:37.the afternoon, sunny intervals prevail. We are not expecting
:31:38. > :31:42.showers or rain. Still be light winds. Cloud building. But fair
:31:43. > :31:46.weather cloud. Fairly innocuous. As we head into the evening, it is a
:31:47. > :31:50.very similar story. Once again, we hang on to the bright or sunny
:31:51. > :31:58.conditions depending on the cloud cover we have with light winds. But
:31:59. > :32:01.the pollen levels once again are very high. I am glad to say over the
:32:02. > :32:08.next few days they will start to go down.
:32:09. > :32:13.I was thinking the pollen levels had gone down because it seems so much
:32:14. > :32:16.cooler. Hopefully it will be better tomorrow for people who suffer from
:32:17. > :32:21.the pollen. We are looking forward to tennis. Andy Murray on at 1pm.
:32:22. > :32:29.Let us update you with what is happening on court to work Li Na who
:32:30. > :32:32.is seeded two is 2-1 down in the early stages of that much. You can
:32:33. > :32:45.follow it on the red button. But we are heading off to court
:32:46. > :32:52.Street to see Venus Williams. Five times the champion up against Kurumi
:32:53. > :32:53.Nara of Japan. Let us join our commentators. Anne Keothavong is
:32:54. > :33:17.alongside Andrew Castle. Venus Williams has made a lot of
:33:18. > :33:20.mistakes out here. She had 15-41 Kurumi Nara served from this and in
:33:21. > :33:22.the opening game. She lost it. Then she lost her serve to love. Break
:33:23. > :33:53.point. That is the break back achieved.
:33:54. > :33:59.Been as Williams, a five times champion of this champion tee
:34:00. > :34:07.tournament, a finalist in France and Australia as well. 34th birthday
:34:08. > :34:13.last week. Still ranked 31 in the world, number four in the US. Behind
:34:14. > :34:17.her sister. What a celebrated family they are. They have changed the face
:34:18. > :34:22.of the game over the last 12, 15 years. They really have. They are
:34:23. > :34:29.great role models for so many of the other players as well as young kids
:34:30. > :34:39.growing up looking to emulate their success. Their story is not legend,
:34:40. > :34:44.it is all true. They really did come from a very tough place where tennis
:34:45. > :34:52.was very unlikely to have been introduced into their lives without
:34:53. > :34:58.there being a sacrifice on behalf of the family. They have a lot to thank
:34:59. > :35:03.their father for, Richard Williams. Guided their careers from the start.
:35:04. > :35:11.Online some lovely footage of when they were very young together and
:35:12. > :35:15.practising. Charming. Destined. . They got it. -- destined for
:35:16. > :36:03.stardom. Kurumi Nara is the number one player
:36:04. > :36:12.in a nation which loves its tennis, Japan. First top 100 finished at
:36:13. > :36:15.number 76 at the end of last year, the year of her arrival, helped by
:36:16. > :36:20.qualifying and reaching the third round at the US Open. Still young
:36:21. > :36:26.and still learning the game and already at number 41 in the world.
:36:27. > :36:59.Not a pushover by any means for Venus Williams.
:37:00. > :37:17.The athleticism and the sheer wingspan of Venus Williams coming
:37:18. > :37:22.in, it has taken her to so many doubles titles with her sister, as
:37:23. > :38:08.well as the singles. 45 career singles.
:38:09. > :38:16.You just feel that Venus is starting to find her range, going hard and
:38:17. > :38:19.deep in the corners, well within herself, it is too much for Kurumi
:38:20. > :38:41.Nara. You have actually played her at this
:38:42. > :38:49.tournament. What he was that? That was in 2008 in the second round. On
:38:50. > :38:54.Centre Court, my first experience of being there. I lost that match. I
:38:55. > :38:58.just remember how hard Venus Williams hit the ball. I had never
:38:59. > :39:12.played anyone who hit the ball as hard as she did.
:39:13. > :39:20.And the intimidation factor? Yeah, it is up there. A player I looked up
:39:21. > :39:26.to and admired since I was a kid. It was more intimidating playing Venus
:39:27. > :39:54.and Serena Williams on the doubles court as well. That was scary!
:39:55. > :40:01.Just wide. She has got to look to take chances where she can. That is
:40:02. > :40:12.something Kurumi Nara likes to do. She likes to change the direction of
:40:13. > :40:24.play. At 5ft 1, she relies on foot speed around the court and timing.
:40:25. > :40:40.Just enough depth on the approach to make it difficult for the American.
:40:41. > :40:54.Taking the ball above the height of the net. Keeps Nara in the game.
:40:55. > :42:18.That is too good from Venus. Talk about holding your ground...
:42:19. > :42:34.That is quite a sight! Really taking the ball on. Beforehand was hit with
:42:35. > :42:35.such venom. -- the forehand. Excellent footwork from Venus
:42:36. > :42:49.Williams. Giving herself the space. It is away and Venus Williams has
:42:50. > :42:57.assumed control of this first set a tricky start. 24 minutes played. She
:42:58. > :43:01.will serve with new balls and a break in a moment.
:43:02. > :43:11.SUE BARKER: Venus Singh control on Court 3. On Court Two, the number
:43:12. > :43:19.two seed is in charge. Li Na is up. That is on the red button. She has
:43:20. > :43:26.another point to break serve there again. On shot. Sergiy Stakhovsky,
:43:27. > :43:32.he produces them. He is coming out to serve for the first set against
:43:33. > :43:36.bonus Gold list. Sergiy Stakhovsky put out Federer last year. Seems to
:43:37. > :43:38.be working well again this time. If you want to follow that match, it is
:43:39. > :43:53.on the red button. Back we go. Back on Court 3, the fourth largest
:43:54. > :44:01.court at Wimbledon after Centre Court, Court One and caught two.
:44:02. > :44:03.This has 4000 people. Word is going around there is an interesting much
:44:04. > :44:08.going on and one of the main stars is playing. She was in trouble. But
:44:09. > :44:14.not now it seems at 4-3 with a break of serve.
:44:15. > :44:20.UMPIRE: Ladies and gentlemen, take your seats, please. Day three of the
:44:21. > :44:45.championship, second round match in the Ladies' Singles.
:44:46. > :44:53.That is a powerful delivery. She has closed in on 130mph before. She has
:44:54. > :45:13.the fastest serve ever recorded in women's tennis.
:45:14. > :45:23.That is a bit of an issue. 65mph on the second serve. It would suggest
:45:24. > :45:27.that there is a bit of a problem with the ball toss. Bit of a problem
:45:28. > :45:31.with the ball toss, and I wonder physically how well Venus Williams
:45:32. > :45:37.is feeling out here. Last year she missed the event because of a back
:45:38. > :45:38.injury. She did take a bit of time getting out here. She was nine
:45:39. > :45:49.minutes late. Her 17th appearance at Wimbledon.
:45:50. > :45:55.You have got to love the game. We talk of Federer on the men's side.
:45:56. > :45:56.Venus has 17 appearances. No reason to stop coming, if you are enjoying
:45:57. > :46:17.yourself. Venus Williams got herself in a
:46:18. > :46:18.right mess there. Waiting for the ball to come onto her, connecting
:46:19. > :47:02.with it late. What an angle from Kurumi Nara! The
:47:03. > :47:06.Japanese player really getting up to the backend. Coming around the
:47:07. > :48:04.outside. Leaning all of the way through the shot.
:48:05. > :48:22.In your picture there in the white T-shirt is Kurumi Nara's coach.
:48:23. > :48:31.I feel like Venus Williams is just placing and guiding her serve into
:48:32. > :48:41.play. She has not really let loose as well as she can just yet.
:48:42. > :48:50.Ouch. UMPIRE: Miss Williams is challenging
:48:51. > :49:03.the call on the right service line. The ball was called out. Just long.
:49:04. > :49:07.Into the body. Second serve, when you challenge on your own first
:49:08. > :49:09.serve, you break the rhythm you have between first and second and it can
:49:10. > :49:40.lead to trouble. Five straight games for Venus
:49:41. > :49:45.Williams. Here is Court 3, it is where the old court to use to be,
:49:46. > :49:52.the graveyard of champions. A long history of big names losing. That
:49:53. > :49:55.was replaced by this as the club continues to update. There is a
:49:56. > :49:58.master plan that will see a roof going over Court One and much else
:49:59. > :50:22.besides. That is a very smart point from
:50:23. > :50:23.Nara. Using the forehand crosscourt very well, pulling Venus Williams
:50:24. > :50:43.off the court. Despite the slip, she still finds
:50:44. > :50:50.the space and gets the ball past Williams. She does not have an awful
:50:51. > :50:55.way Ali long way to get -- she does not have an awful way to get back up
:50:56. > :51:20.from. That is well done. It is no more
:51:21. > :51:26.than she deserves. To ask of Venus Williams to serve for the set. You
:51:27. > :51:28.have got to give it to her. She has come out here striking the ball as
:51:29. > :52:04.well as she can, taking her chances. That is the first part of the
:52:05. > :52:09.equation done. And now to hope Venus Williams misses a few first serves.
:52:10. > :52:14.That would certainly help. I think Kurumi Nara is a fun player to watch
:52:15. > :52:19.because of her size and her height. She really relies on good footwork,
:52:20. > :52:28.taking the ball early, on the rise, and also on serve, placement. For a
:52:29. > :52:34.lot of players, like you said, the shortest player in the top 100. The
:52:35. > :52:38.serve comes through very low. A long way down for Venus Williams. You
:52:39. > :52:47.have to make the most of natural attributes. If you are left-handers,
:52:48. > :52:53.you throw the ball out wide. I note her first serve percentage is 84%.
:52:54. > :52:58.For this match. 82% for the tournament. She is getting more than
:52:59. > :53:02.eight out of ten first serves them. This is a valuable statistic. Just
:53:03. > :53:08.look at this beautiful place, coming back over Wimbledon Park from
:53:09. > :53:13.central London, SW19. Doubles taking place for the first time today.
:53:14. > :53:16.Action all over Wimbledon on this first week. We have been blessed
:53:17. > :53:28.with some lovely weather. Just to the left of us, Somerset Row. This
:53:29. > :53:30.is Court 3. Opened in 2011. Upon it, Venus Williams, fives times
:53:31. > :55:36.champion, serving for the first set. The ball toss gets tired. I think
:55:37. > :55:37.she feels the pressure. We have seen it over a number of years. I mean,
:55:38. > :56:41.who doesn't? That is wide as well. This will be
:56:42. > :56:47.challenged. UMPIRE: Miss Williams is challenging
:56:48. > :56:52.the call. The first missed down the middle, this just missed wide, I
:56:53. > :57:01.think. There is the value of Hawk-Eye! What do we know? We need
:57:02. > :57:05.to get our eyes tested. I have and that is why I am wearing these. She
:57:06. > :57:26.gets a first serve for that. Big bonus.
:57:27. > :57:37.Wow! She got there eventually, but she did not start the point off in a
:57:38. > :57:43.positive fashion. She just rolled the first serve in at 68mph. Court
:57:44. > :58:07.Nara by surprise. Wonderful return off a quick 's
:58:08. > :58:12.first serve. Excellent example of Nara reading the serve and the game
:58:13. > :58:27.perfectly. Timing so well out in front of her.
:58:28. > :58:37.That is away. We seen plenty of breaks in this first set and there
:58:38. > :58:43.is another. After 40 minutes, five games all. This isn't -- this is
:58:44. > :58:47.enthralling. You get the feeling games all. This isn't -- this is
:58:48. > :58:50.enthralling. You get the if Venus Williams finds any sort of gear, she
:58:51. > :58:56.would be able to get through the match. But Nara is going nowhere. It
:58:57. > :59:13.is a nice contrast. It is just amazing to see Venus
:59:14. > :59:17.Williams so uptight out here. There is still so much tension in all of
:59:18. > :59:19.her strokes and her body language. She has not been able to relax at
:59:20. > :00:32.all. the net. She does like a good
:00:33. > :01:32.target. That is a sight to behold. I think the ball never arrived, and
:01:33. > :01:38.hence the misfit. Credit to the Japanese player, she's serving 85%
:01:39. > :02:03.of first serves. SUE BARKER: So Venus will be coming
:02:04. > :02:11.out to serve to stay in the set. We will be coming back for that. On
:02:12. > :02:16.Court Two, Li Na is in charge, 6-2. She won her second Grand Slam at the
:02:17. > :02:18.Australian Open this year. She has reached the quarterfinals at
:02:19. > :02:31.Wimbledon three times. That much is on the red button. And Ernests
:02:32. > :02:47.Gulbis has dropped the opening set to this man. That match also on the
:02:48. > :02:59.red button. Jamie Murray in your picture with his Aussie partner
:03:00. > :03:09.against the British. Back to court three.
:03:10. > :03:20.Venus Williams was ten minutes late on to court. She seemed nervous. She
:03:21. > :03:24.may be here for the 17th time and a five-time champion, but no one is
:03:25. > :03:33.immune to getting nervous when you want to win. Kurumi Nara, the
:03:34. > :04:10.Japanese player, is a formidable opponent.
:04:11. > :04:15.That is better, positive play from Williams. We haven't seen enough of
:04:16. > :05:09.it in this set just yet. Nara trying to give as good as she
:05:10. > :05:31.gets in this rally, but just one too many from Venus Williams.
:05:32. > :06:54.Third double from Venus Williams. And they are on big points, which
:06:55. > :07:16.suggests the tension is there. -- third double fault.
:07:17. > :07:23.This is a much more positive point from Venus Williams. She looks so
:07:24. > :07:38.much better when she looks to come forward and play across the tennis.
:07:39. > :07:49.Mid-court ball. Got the punishment. The sun could be a bit of a factor
:07:50. > :07:58.of the end that the Williams is serving from.
:07:59. > :08:30.So a tie-break it is, after 49 minutes on Court three.
:08:31. > :08:37.The serve getting Venus Williams out of trouble there. She is just
:08:38. > :08:44.struggling to find her rhythm out here, making everything look a lot
:08:45. > :08:52.harder than it should be. These two have never played before.
:08:53. > :09:45.Nara's tie-break record this year, she has played five, she has won
:09:46. > :09:46.four of them. Venus Williams has only played three. She has only won
:09:47. > :09:57.one. Well, she was there. A little too
:09:58. > :10:15.much on the volley. I've seen happier player boxes than
:10:16. > :10:44.that. The ball boy is significantly taller
:10:45. > :11:28.than our player here. Beautifully done. It is the
:11:29. > :11:34.variation on this earth, keeping an opponent guessing can be as
:11:35. > :11:39.important as the speed, the pace. And she looks so well drilled,
:11:40. > :11:46.doesn't she? So well practised. There is no way she's going to miss
:11:47. > :11:48.that, no matter what. So two very important point is coming up for
:11:49. > :11:57.Venus Williams on her own serve here.
:11:58. > :12:08.-- two very important points. Nara is very meticulous in how she
:12:09. > :12:19.prepares for her match and the way she goes about her training. She
:12:20. > :12:25.hasn't looked overawed by the occasion at all. Only ten places
:12:26. > :12:31.between them in the rankings, but in terms of an aura, especially at this
:12:32. > :12:32.place, you would imagine Venus would come on with something of an
:12:33. > :12:42.advantage of. OK, so now the business end of the
:12:43. > :13:58.set. Nara serving at 4-3. That is why as well. How quickly it
:13:59. > :14:05.can turn around, and how often it does in a tie-break. -- that is wide
:14:06. > :14:59.as well. The more experienced player will find a way. Uncanny.
:15:00. > :15:01.She had to work hard in this tie-break, Venus Williams. Set
:15:02. > :15:30.point. And it's away. It was most
:15:31. > :15:36.interesting, the second round match for Venus Williams. From 4-1 down in
:15:37. > :15:41.the tie-break to six points up. On the break, 7-6.
:15:42. > :15:46.She is not home and dry yet but that is the first set wrapped up.
:15:47. > :15:53.She is not home and dry yet but And she's off from running again. She
:15:54. > :15:58.was late to come out to the court, Venus Williams, and after the warm
:15:59. > :16:09.up, she went off again. Perhaps taking another comfort break. She
:16:10. > :16:20.will be is courted by one of the line officials, obliged to go with
:16:21. > :16:28.her. -- she will be accompanied. She was placing her first serve very
:16:29. > :16:33.well. Venus Williams' first set serve percentage not as high as her
:16:34. > :16:45.opponent's but doing a good job which she got into play.
:16:46. > :16:52.It felt like Venus Williams made a lot more than nine unforced errors,
:16:53. > :16:59.to me. I did not want to say! Whoever is doing this stat is very
:17:00. > :17:05.generous. We also want all the speed guns the service recalibrated to
:17:06. > :17:10.reflect the handicap of her age. Yesterday I went to the kids' zone
:17:11. > :17:13.and had a go of serving where the speed can is here and I'm not sure
:17:14. > :17:19.it is entirely accurate because I hit it as hard as I could and I just
:17:20. > :17:27.registered 60 mph, but there you go. Oh, come on! You can get higher than
:17:28. > :17:33.60 mph. That is what I thought. In Lea Valley there is a new tennis and
:17:34. > :17:39.hockey centre which was opened up. The first Olympic legacy site. The
:17:40. > :17:44.trainer has been called to court here. At the tennis facility, used
:17:45. > :17:48.for wheelchair event at the Olympic Games, they had a speed machine
:17:49. > :17:54.there. It is a community programme, everyone can come down for free, and
:17:55. > :18:01.so I was trying it out, so miss you. My arm almost fell off and it was 55
:18:02. > :18:07.mph. Perhaps it was the same one. So what is going on here, we wonder. We
:18:08. > :18:11.will try to find out. It is set to Venus Williams, that is what is
:18:12. > :18:12.going on on the scoreboard after an hour of play in the second round
:18:13. > :18:26.match. SUE BARKER: While the trainer
:18:27. > :18:38.attends to Kurumi Nara, we will take a look at what else is happening.
:18:39. > :18:47.Going well for Na Li, the Aussie open champion. That is on the red
:18:48. > :19:03.button. Over on court 12, Ernests Gulbis,
:19:04. > :19:13.the 12th seed, up against Stakhovsky is --.
:19:14. > :19:22.On court Eight, Jamie Murray and his Aussie partner 2-0 up against the
:19:23. > :19:25.Brits Evans and Ward. Andy will be due on Court Number One in just a
:19:26. > :19:35.few minutes so busy day for the Murray family. Back we go.
:19:36. > :19:43.COMMENTATOR: The Championships doubles are taking place all over
:19:44. > :19:47.the place. So many big names around. One of them Venus Williams. This is
:19:48. > :19:53.the fourth largest court and perhaps not surprise that at the age of 34
:19:54. > :19:58.now, Venus Williams, although she is the five-time champion, not surprise
:19:59. > :20:05.to see her scheduled on this court. I do not think so. This is one of
:20:06. > :20:10.her favourites -- one of the favourites amongst the players. It
:20:11. > :20:16.was known as the graveyard, though. When it was caught to in the old
:20:17. > :20:21.days. I remember her sister, Serena Williams, losing on this court years
:20:22. > :20:31.ago. You are young, because I can remember Joe -- John McEnroe losing
:20:32. > :20:42.on this court. You will probably not born. So, people just milling around
:20:43. > :20:47.on this court at the moment as we find out what is going on with
:20:48. > :20:54.Kurumi Nara, and if she's going to have back treatment you are allowed
:20:55. > :20:57.to go off court for that. Did not see anything wrong with her lateral
:20:58. > :21:02.movement or forward movement or serve at all, to be frank. I thought
:21:03. > :21:09.she was moving quite well out there. Certainly no obvious problems on her
:21:10. > :21:20.serve. UMPIRE: Ladies and gentlemen, Miss
:21:21. > :21:29.Nara is now receiving a medical time-out. Can Venus Williams still
:21:30. > :21:33.be a factor, deep into the second week? She has won despised times
:21:34. > :21:37.before. She still represents a threat when in great form and on
:21:38. > :21:43.grass. Nobody has won it more than her, even her sister. Is it possible
:21:44. > :21:46.to still be a threat? I think she will always be a dangerous player
:21:47. > :21:50.particularly on the grass because she has such a big serve, although
:21:51. > :21:55.she has not shown it to this so far in this match. I feel she has
:21:56. > :21:59.actually been holding back on her serve. But she still has the ability
:22:00. > :22:07.to play great tennis. We saw earlier this year she won her first biggest
:22:08. > :22:17.title quite a few years in Dubai. She beat Alize Cornet. She has an
:22:18. > :22:24.autoimmune disease which affects her energy levels, her muscles, she gets
:22:25. > :22:30.muscle ache, shortness of breath, and she has really had to adopt her
:22:31. > :22:40.training regime and diet. She has a mostly victim diet now and avoid
:22:41. > :22:45.sugar. -- mostly victim diet. And she is still capable of winning
:22:46. > :22:51.these matches but here at Wimbledon, I'm not so sure. We have
:22:52. > :22:55.a medical time-out for Kurumi Nara. She should be out in a couple of
:22:56. > :23:04.minutes' time, the Japanese number one. SUE BARKER: Venus just trying
:23:05. > :23:10.to stay supple. Not easy for her being left out on the court either.
:23:11. > :23:13.We will leave that and had to call one because Andy Murray will be on
:23:14. > :23:16.in a moment. We will keep you up-to-date with that and if you want
:23:17. > :23:20.to continue watching, it will be on the red button in just a moment. But
:23:21. > :23:24.we are heading over to Court Number One but Andy Murray's defence of his
:23:25. > :23:28.Wimbledon title started on Monday. An emotional return for the reigning
:23:29. > :23:44.champion. Let's hear how he enjoyed it. COMMENTATOR: He steps back out
:23:45. > :23:53.to Centre Court. Expectations high. Game and first set, Murray. Game and
:23:54. > :24:07.second set. A very firm hold on this opening match Andy Murray. What a
:24:08. > :24:15.perfect start. SUE BARKER: We heard how he enjoyed
:24:16. > :24:19.it a little earlier on, but we certainly enjoyed watching him in
:24:20. > :24:23.that match. And now all the attention is on Court Number One.
:24:24. > :24:26.Not everyone can be there so they have headed to the hilt with their
:24:27. > :24:31.picnic baskets, enjoying their day out in the tennis on the screen and
:24:32. > :24:35.hoping that Andy can put in another victory as well. People getting
:24:36. > :24:39.ready here on Court Number One. Everybody wanted to take their seats
:24:40. > :24:44.to welcome on Britain's reigning champion. That is the scene on Court
:24:45. > :24:49.Number One and team is with me once again, and John Lloyd. A great
:24:50. > :24:56.atmosphere. Britain have a defending champion. We felt it on Monday and
:24:57. > :25:03.you feel it here too? Absolutely. We found at the order of play and they
:25:04. > :25:08.are all saying, thank you very much. This court is almost as great as
:25:09. > :25:11.Centre Court and they will have a feast of tennis today. Andy is the
:25:12. > :25:16.man and came back on the first day and looked totally relaxed. He said
:25:17. > :25:20.he was nervous but did not play like he was nervous. You get over the
:25:21. > :25:23.nerves after the first few games. What we saw from Monday, he can be
:25:24. > :25:30.arranged happy with how he started his campaign. -- very happy. Yes,
:25:31. > :25:34.and the first round of any tournament is not always easy and
:25:35. > :25:37.coming back to defend the title, a home-grown player in the biggest
:25:38. > :25:41.tournament in the world, it was a lot of pressure. I thought he was
:25:42. > :25:44.very honest about it. He felt nervous the day before and was
:25:45. > :25:50.nervous the morning after and that helped him deal with it and when he
:25:51. > :25:55.went out on the court and got 6-1 in under half an hour, he struck the
:25:56. > :25:59.ball cleanly and it was a clean performance all round. Interesting
:26:00. > :26:04.he said he was nervous the day before and before the match
:26:05. > :26:10.defending his title. Before one I saw him, I asked him, did you sleep
:26:11. > :26:14.well the night before the final? And he said he did. Not nervous before
:26:15. > :26:23.the final but nervous to defend his title! Once he got going, as Tim
:26:24. > :26:26.said, he's so good. He was hitting the ball so cleanly and that is what
:26:27. > :26:33.you want to do in the first match. Lots of applause here. That is not
:26:34. > :26:37.the players, just the ball kids coming out. It will be the linesman
:26:38. > :26:40.and the umpire as well so there will be another two before we see the
:26:41. > :26:46.players. Tim, you know about build-up. It is often the worst
:26:47. > :26:50.thing. You had the hopes of the nation to carry and you want to get
:26:51. > :26:55.it out of the way. Yes, and when you look at the preparation, obviously
:26:56. > :27:01.losing early at Queen's, the actual fact, he had an extra four days from
:27:02. > :27:05.the week previously, so it was a big build-up. You talked about sleeping
:27:06. > :27:10.well before the final. I think that is because you have been in the
:27:11. > :27:13.event the 13 days, there is a lot of emotional, mental and physical
:27:14. > :27:18.energy used up. You're pretty tired come the last days, so in the lead
:27:19. > :27:23.up to this tournament, he had a lot of time to think about it and a lot
:27:24. > :27:29.of time to make sure his batteries were fully charged. A great start
:27:30. > :27:34.and a good way to open his account. Andy said that he did not sleep but
:27:35. > :27:38.Kim and Judy said they were restless. It is almost worse for the
:27:39. > :27:43.friends and family in the build-up. But this match today against Blaz
:27:44. > :27:53.Rola, ranked 92 in the world, it is not a bad draw the him. It is a good
:27:54. > :28:02.draw. And the player mode Can't wait for the headlines tomorrow! It is
:28:03. > :28:08.Hollywood. He has moved up more than anyone else in the top 100 so he's
:28:09. > :28:13.obviously on form. But he's playing with Andy Murray, let's be
:28:14. > :28:16.realistic, and he is a lefty. Andy loves playing lefties. And as far as
:28:17. > :28:21.his team is concerned, we have family in the corner that Danny,
:28:22. > :28:27.whom nobody really talks about, Danny has been in his corner for
:28:28. > :28:32.many years. And he does not get the credit that he deserves because he
:28:33. > :28:38.knows Andy better than anyone. They go back to the Academy days in
:28:39. > :28:43.Spain. He has been a common theme that the last seven or eight years
:28:44. > :28:48.and deserves a lot of credit. We are going to move channels. The players
:28:49. > :28:53.are just leaving the locker room. If you want to enjoy the tennis on this
:28:54. > :29:03.match join us over on BBC Two. Buy buy.
