:03:07. > :03:14.occasion. Some better than others. But they end you at home or in for a
:03:15. > :03:18.real treat today. Rafael Nadal takes on Rosol, the man who sensationally
:03:19. > :03:23.beat him at this stage two years ago. Will the sequel have a happy
:03:24. > :03:28.ending for the world number one? Inform Heather Watson is aiming to
:03:29. > :03:32.beat her previous Wimbledon best of reaching the third round, but the
:03:33. > :03:37.British number one faces a tough task against the ninth seed

:04:22. > :04:27.qualifier Timea Bacsinszky. Rafael knows what to expect from this man,
:04:28. > :04:32.big hitter Lukas Rosol, his ranking is 52 in the world but he's always
:04:33. > :04:36.dangerous on the surface. Jo-Wilfried Tsonga knows all about
:04:37. > :04:40.this club. He is making his fourth day in a row on court. He is
:04:41. > :04:46.resuming his match against Sam Querrey. Nine games all in the fifth
:04:47. > :04:50.set. That resumes on Court Two. Andy Murray has the day. He was only on
:04:51. > :05:00.court for an hour and a half yesterday. Plenty of for him. He
:05:01. > :05:06.will be on court tomorrow against Roberto Bautista Agut. We will be
:05:07. > :05:15.keeping an eye on Court number three. Milos Raonic is on court. He
:05:16. > :05:18.is up against Jack Sock, the 21-year-old from America. There are
:05:19. > :05:24.three of four Americans who have made it into the second round. Here
:05:25. > :05:27.is Milos Raonic. He is seeded eighth at these championships. He could be
:05:28. > :05:37.a real threat well into this tournament. And Court Two, Richard
:05:38. > :05:41.Gasquet, the 13th seed, he is up against a 19-year-old, the youngest
:05:42. > :05:51.player left in the draw, Nik Kyrgios of Australia. I accidentally said
:05:52. > :05:56.Gilles Simon instead of Gilles Muller. He was a great player. Here
:05:57. > :06:02.we are with John Lloyd and Laura Robson. How are you enjoying
:06:03. > :06:06.Wimbledon without playing it? The hours are definitely longer. I am
:06:07. > :06:11.being put to work. I am really enjoying being able to watch as many
:06:12. > :06:14.matches as possible. You have got the brace on and you have had
:06:15. > :06:19.surgery. We have been talking about a new brace of women's players
:06:20. > :06:23.coming through. It is exciting times. It is and I have seen so many
:06:24. > :06:29.great matches already. We have Heather playing on Centre Court
:06:30. > :06:38.later. Hopefully she will do well but there are so many other matches
:06:39. > :06:42.to watch. It is rougher and Lukas Rosol back on Centre Court. You were
:06:43. > :06:56.commentating on the match two years ago and it was a big upset. We did
:06:57. > :07:01.not know over a much about Rosol. We thought he would start to miss but
:07:02. > :07:05.he did not. Once the roof came on he started playing better and better. I
:07:06. > :07:09.really think Rafa could have stayed there for another week. He was in
:07:10. > :07:14.that mindset where everything he hit turned to gold. There was a bit of
:07:15. > :07:19.aggro in the match which was fun. It was great. Lets remind everyone
:07:20. > :07:25.about that match. It happened two years ago on Centre Court. It
:07:26. > :07:40.featured five amazing sets. Some big hitters and it left a bouncing.
:07:41. > :07:52.What a shock maker this man is. Ladies and gentlemen, due to the
:07:53. > :08:00.fading light, the roof will be closed. Outstanding tennis from
:08:01. > :08:08.Rosol. We are seeing something special. Seven unforced errors in
:08:09. > :08:22.this set. He could win tournaments with that.
:08:23. > :08:29.A man ranked 100 has simply outplayed the man ranked two in the
:08:30. > :08:39.world. Sustained brilliance. That was extraordinary.
:08:40. > :08:44.I wonder is there is no love lost between them now. It was a frosty
:08:45. > :08:50.handshake. There was a lot of controversy. Rafa appealed to the
:08:51. > :08:54.umpire a few times. He was not happy when the roof was closed. And
:08:55. > :08:59.Rosol, it was one of those stunning matches that happens now and again,
:09:00. > :09:06.he was seeing the ball like it was a football. You kept thinking, he
:09:07. > :09:11.can't go on, and he did. 22 aces, 65 winners, 20 of them in the fifth
:09:12. > :09:16.set. He was going for it. Rafa was appealing to the umpire all the
:09:17. > :09:22.time. He was trying to put him off. But it is all part of what you can
:09:23. > :09:26.do now. I think a lot of players do every kind of tactic that they can,
:09:27. > :09:32.especially someone as high ranked as Rafa. I think he took it a bit
:09:33. > :09:36.personally in the end. I'm sure they are fine now but it will be
:09:37. > :09:42.competitive on court today, I would say. This was match point. It was
:09:43. > :09:47.really frosty in contrast to what we saw with Stepanek and Djokovic when
:09:48. > :09:53.he gave him a point. The sportsmanship was unbelievable. They
:09:54. > :09:57.really did not get on. Sometimes you have to do what you have to do.
:09:58. > :10:02.Sometimes lower ranked players are intimidated when they play top
:10:03. > :10:06.ranked players. They do not too too much about it. Rosol did not care
:10:07. > :10:10.who he played. He was going to beat him that day. He was in the zone
:10:11. > :10:15.from the start of the match to the end. We look at the big four and who
:10:16. > :10:25.had they have got with their coaching. Federer with Edberg,
:10:26. > :10:27.Amelie Mauresmo with Andy Murray but Rafa Nadal has stuck with his uncle
:10:28. > :10:39.Tony. Let's hear from him. The match was really difficult
:10:40. > :10:48.because we remember what happened in the last two years. If he loses
:10:49. > :10:51.against -- he lost against Steve D'Arcy 's in the first round and
:10:52. > :11:00.then he lost two years ago against Rosol. He is so much better, I do
:11:01. > :11:06.know, it is difficult, but he can try. Is he feeling fine? No aches
:11:07. > :11:19.and pains? We play always with pain. The last two years was really
:11:20. > :11:28.difficult. You should play so much down. This year, I hope, is
:11:29. > :11:34.different and I hope Rafael can make a good tournament. For him to go
:11:35. > :11:39.forward in this tournament, how does he manage the pain? Does he do
:11:40. > :11:44.different things on grass than he would at Roland Garros in terms of
:11:45. > :11:50.preparation and rehabilitation? No, no, the preparation is different
:11:51. > :11:59.because Roland Garros is easy for us. But I remember some years
:12:00. > :12:11.before, grass was very good for rough file. 2006, 2007, 2008, 2010
:12:12. > :12:18.and 2011 for Rafael to play on grass, is a good thing. Will we get
:12:19. > :12:24.to the stage where Rafa is still on the tour but he will choose not to
:12:25. > :12:31.play on grass? No, never, because for us to play Wimbledon is always a
:12:32. > :12:38.dream. When Rafael was young, my dream was to win one time here, to
:12:39. > :12:43.come every year here for me is a dream. And finally, Rosol in the
:12:44. > :12:51.next round, you hope history does not repeat itself? You hope! But I
:12:52. > :12:57.know Rosol is a very difficult player because he has a good serve,
:12:58. > :13:08.it is complicated to play against a player like Rosol because you are
:13:09. > :13:14.always in water up to here but I hope Rafael is good for trying to
:13:15. > :13:24.beat Lukas Rosol. We try. I don't know what happens later but I hope.
:13:25. > :13:28.He does not sound too confident but then he never does! How tough is it
:13:29. > :13:33.to go one against an opponent where you have had a big shock? I think
:13:34. > :13:41.Rafa was really confident so I do not think he will be thinking too
:13:42. > :13:44.much about their previous match. He came out of a tough one will stop he
:13:45. > :13:48.is dangerous if he hits the ball like he did last time. It was huge
:13:49. > :13:52.in his eyes. But everyone is going to be looking forward to watching
:13:53. > :13:58.that match. I would say Rafa will come out on top today. It is also
:13:59. > :14:03.tough because the French Wimbledon double has only been done by Rafa
:14:04. > :14:07.and Bjorn in the open era. His body is weary after the French. Without
:14:08. > :14:13.question, it is the toughest thing to do. It is the toughest thing.
:14:14. > :14:19.Next year there will be three weeks gap so it will not be as tough. If
:14:20. > :14:27.Rafa does it, it will be a magnificent performance. So we are
:14:28. > :14:31.not expecting another big shock? No, but he will be dangerous. Roger
:14:32. > :14:35.Federer loves being on Centre Court. No one is talking about him as a
:14:36. > :14:43.potential winner but you cannot write him off? You cannot write him
:14:44. > :14:49.off. He is playing Gilles Muller. He is ten set to zero at the moment. A
:14:50. > :14:54.fellow lefty. I think Federer is playing well. No one is really
:14:55. > :14:58.talking. It is all about Djokovic and Murray. Federer is happy about
:14:59. > :15:06.that. He has Edberg in his corner now. He is dangerous. Heather
:15:07. > :15:10.tweeted that she is in a Rafa Roger sandwich on Centre Court! She is
:15:11. > :15:14.playing some of her best tennis now because she has finally got herself
:15:15. > :15:18.fit and healthy. All of the other players are so happy to see her
:15:19. > :15:23.doing well again. It has taken a long time to get back but she had a
:15:24. > :15:26.really good result in Eastbourne. Her first-round opponent was really
:15:27. > :15:30.tough. I thought it would be a lot closer. She pulled it out and played
:15:31. > :15:39.very aggressive and I'm sure she will be looking to do the same
:15:40. > :15:43.against Kerber. This is her warming up for her warm up. Such a big day
:15:44. > :15:49.and a big occasion. You know what it is like going out on Centre Court.
:15:50. > :15:57.It is a daunting prospect. It is, but an exciting one. It is an
:15:58. > :16:00.enjoyable experience. She has won twice out there already. Angelique
:16:01. > :16:05.Kerber is a difficult opponent and was a finalist at Eastbourne last
:16:06. > :16:09.week. Yes, I played her here couple of years ago and that was before she
:16:10. > :16:15.started doing well. She has improved out of sight in the last two years
:16:16. > :16:20.or so. She's always a tough opponent. She hits shots that you
:16:21. > :16:25.have no idea how they go in. We will see later on. Let's hear from
:16:26. > :16:29.Heather because in keeping with her centre stage appearance today, she
:16:30. > :16:38.has been rubbing shoulders with a superstar.
:16:39. > :16:44.I was walking down the stairs and I had a mini panic attack because I
:16:45. > :16:50.saw Samuel L Jackson. I asked him for a quick selfie and Grigor
:16:51. > :16:55.Dimitrov photo bombed our selfie! He looks really fit and healthy like he
:16:56. > :17:01.plays tennis as well. When I took the selfie I took it with my broken
:17:02. > :17:14.phone. He said with that broke as phone? ! I have known I love a long
:17:15. > :17:20.time. We played doubles and won the title together. It is tough playing
:17:21. > :17:24.a friend of the court. I knew it would not be easy. I had a game plan
:17:25. > :17:32.and I stuck to it and it worked well. How were the nerves out there?
:17:33. > :17:36.It is not easy, British number one, full stands, how tough was it to
:17:37. > :17:40.cope with? I was quite nervous going into the match. I did not sleep
:17:41. > :17:46.great the night before but I never do. I was eating a banana for and my
:17:47. > :17:50.jaw was not opening properly because of my nerves. Once I got out,
:17:51. > :17:56.stepped onto court before the warm up, I was feeling good and I just
:17:57. > :18:02.got rid of the nerves. In terms of the fashion out there, it looks like
:18:03. > :18:09.you have a new dress on with their high waistline and it is floaty.
:18:10. > :18:15.Talk us through the dress. Yes, this is my tennis dress. It has a wasted
:18:16. > :18:26.skirt look about it. But it worked today! It worked. It is pretty windy
:18:27. > :18:30.today. Angelique Kerber, you know how to beat her, you did it back in
:18:31. > :18:37.2011, what where the tactics you used and are there any weaknesses?
:18:38. > :18:42.Back when I played her, I had not won a match at Wimbledon. I was
:18:43. > :18:47.super nervous. I do not know what that celebration was! We were
:18:48. > :18:52.outside court. Both my parents were watching. Angie, she is pretty low
:18:53. > :18:57.on confidence. She she started to do well that year. Then she made it to
:18:58. > :19:02.the top ten and kept going and won a couple of titles. She seems a dog
:19:03. > :19:09.with opponent, she keeps you in those rallies? Guess, she moves
:19:10. > :19:12.extremely well. She can keep the rallies going much longer than I
:19:13. > :19:18.would like and fortunately! What about Heather? She has got to be
:19:19. > :19:21.really aggressive like she was in the first round, play her own game
:19:22. > :19:26.and not get caught up in the situation but I think she will be
:19:27. > :19:30.fine. There are a number of up-and-coming women on the tour. Sam
:19:31. > :19:31.Smith has been looking at some of those who are rising up the
:19:32. > :19:43.rankings. There have been many legends of the
:19:44. > :19:48.women's games over the years but there is a new group waiting in the
:19:49. > :19:55.wings, ready to write their own places in history books. There is
:19:56. > :20:00.definitely a group of younger players who are finding their games
:20:01. > :20:04.and figuring it out a little bit more. The younger generation will
:20:05. > :20:11.eventually come through and surpass the current generation. White macro
:20:12. > :20:23.one woman who is already on highway is Simona Hallett. I set my dream is
:20:24. > :20:27.to play the big final. I am willing to be disappointed because I lost
:20:28. > :20:40.it. Still, I am very happy for the result. I have to enjoy this moment
:20:41. > :20:50.because it is the best. I'm happy to be here now. Teenager Madison Keys
:20:51. > :20:56.is not fazed at the tag of being one of America's hottest tennis
:20:57. > :21:05.talents. Really, I'm trying to play tennis for myself and do as best as
:21:06. > :21:11.I can. This is the youngster in the pack. Last year, she won the girls
:21:12. > :21:20.title and she has the ideal game for grass. She has got it! She has added
:21:21. > :21:25.the Wimbledon title to her resume. And then there is Canadian Eugenie
:21:26. > :21:32.Bouchard. She was the 2012 junior champion and she is a contender for
:21:33. > :21:37.some of tennis's biggest prizes. This motivates me to work even
:21:38. > :21:44.harder. I just want to give it my all and I am enjoying it so much.
:21:45. > :21:51.Life is good. The youth brigade are on the march at the Championships.
:21:52. > :22:00.The top women had better watch out. We have picked out as many as we
:22:01. > :22:03.could. Did we miss one? Wozniacki is playing a girl called Anaconda
:22:04. > :22:15.tomorrow and she is 16. She makes me feel really old! -- Ana Konjuh. It
:22:16. > :22:19.will be really tough for Caroline. I'm surprised she was not in there.
:22:20. > :22:26.Too many to choose from. Who has impressed you? Eugenie Bouchard. I
:22:27. > :22:33.look back at some of the olden days when you had Steffi Graf, Martina
:22:34. > :22:38.and Chrissy, a lot of women were intimidated by them. But this breed
:22:39. > :22:42.coming up, they are not scared of the top women. They regard it as a
:22:43. > :22:48.challenge and a scalp and there is no fear factor any more. You really
:22:49. > :22:58.grew up in some ways with each a knee. You know her well? Guess, we
:22:59. > :23:03.all played in junior matches -- you shame you douche. -- you shame the
:23:04. > :23:14.Bouchard. You know Madison Keys well. These
:23:15. > :23:45.are the rankings. Madison Keys once some champagne at
:23:46. > :23:50.Eastbourne. She won some champagne and sent me a message promising to
:23:51. > :23:53.share it and I have not seen it yet! I do not know if she is saving it
:23:54. > :24:00.for after this tournament but I will be waiting. How do the younger women
:24:01. > :24:03.in the locker room with the likes of Maria and Serena who have been at
:24:04. > :24:10.the top of the game for so many years, are they intimidated or not
:24:11. > :24:15.so much? The seeded players are separate in a different locker room
:24:16. > :24:26.that everyone is looking to beat whoever is opposite the net. I am
:24:27. > :24:30.looking forward to a potential Eugenie Bouchard Williams fourth
:24:31. > :24:37.round. And we are looking forward to getting you back on a tennis court.
:24:38. > :24:48.It is a day by day thing. I am doing my scar massages when I am not on
:24:49. > :24:53.TV! OK, we are all -- almost ready for our live matches on BBC Two. But
:24:54. > :25:00.what about the weather? Carole Walker did allow a building with a
:25:01. > :25:10.large bouquet of flowers. Who were they for? -- Carol Kirkwood walked
:25:11. > :25:18.into our building with a large bouquet of flowers. Did you make
:25:19. > :25:24.these hats yourselves? We did. My grand daughter showed me how to make
:25:25. > :25:29.the reset, very easy. Where have you come from? We have come from
:25:30. > :25:34.Plymouth. We started camping out yesterday morning. What was that
:25:35. > :25:43.like? The sun was shining, we had some wine and it was fine. I notice
:25:44. > :25:50.you have brought me some! That is mine, nice try! Hope you have a
:25:51. > :25:54.fabulous day. We do have some cloud across us at the moment. We are
:25:55. > :26:00.likely to hang onto that for a time yet. It is high cloud. It will then,
:26:01. > :26:05.it will break and there will be some sunny spells. The top temperature
:26:06. > :26:15.will be 19 or 20 Celsius. Into the evening we are looking at a very
:26:16. > :26:18.similar scenario. It should stay dry. The light may deteriorate. And
:26:19. > :26:23.the pollen levels are not very high today. They are going down over the
:26:24. > :26:27.next few days as well. Thank you. I know you have predicted
:26:28. > :26:34.some rain for tomorrow but we will not worry about that now. They have
:26:35. > :27:03.got a lot to enjoy up on the hill on the big screen.
:27:04. > :27:08.Laura was just telling me that Stanislas Wawrinka was out for a
:27:09. > :27:17.long run this morning prior to his match.
:27:18. > :27:34.Play is underway on the outside courts.
:27:35. > :27:59.The match on number two court is on the red button.
:28:00. > :28:29.You can follow that match online. Coverage of 12 court online.
:28:30. > :28:39.We are heading to court number 32 C Milos Raonic, big server from
:28:40. > :28:41.Canada, up against Jack Sock, the 21-year-old from America. We can
:28:42. > :28:58.join that one. After the first two games went a
:28:59. > :29:01.point without serve, Milos Raonic has a second break point in the
:29:02. > :29:16.fourth game. Rannoch unable to put the ball back
:29:17. > :29:49.in play. -- Raonic. He wants to see if there is any
:29:50. > :29:57.paint on the ball. The umpire is announcing the second challenge.
:29:58. > :30:36.They are both wrong. Sock. You can see how very
:30:37. > :30:37.comfortable Milos Raonic is. That is wonderful wrist action around the
:30:38. > :31:09.outside of the ball. Jack Sock is still struggling to get
:31:10. > :31:23.the ball to the background of Milos Raonic. Jack Sock is definitely not
:31:24. > :31:32.as comfortable as his opponent. A third break point for Milos Raonic.
:31:33. > :31:51.He tried to do something different. He tried to surprise him.
:31:52. > :32:04.That was a very loose backhand from Milos Raonic. There are no surprises
:32:05. > :32:10.from these tennis players. Everyone knows everyone else's strengths and
:32:11. > :32:21.weaknesses. The coaches can figure it out very easily.
:32:22. > :33:04.Milos Raonic breaks. Break point could be a right -- rarity today.
:33:05. > :33:06.You can see the coaches there. These guys are very into his matches. They
:33:07. > :33:29.love giving him support. That is a bad start from the
:33:30. > :33:34.American player. His opponent is ranked a lot higher. You must get
:33:35. > :33:42.off to a good start and it has been shaky from this man. Milos Raonic is
:33:43. > :33:54.putting allsorts of pressure on him. He is frustrated. It is
:33:55. > :33:57.self-inflicted. It is. One of the things his people talk to him about
:33:58. > :34:06.was that he had to stay with this man throughout the match. The paint
:34:07. > :34:14.blew up. It was beyond the service line. That was not. He made a lovely
:34:15. > :34:36.little adjustment to keep it inside the lines.
:34:37. > :34:42.Only the second point that Jock sat -- Jack Sock has won on the Serb of
:34:43. > :35:24.Milos Raonic. -- on the server. He keeps missing that I can. --
:35:25. > :35:29.missing that backhand. Milos Raonic comes into this tournament with some
:35:30. > :35:32.great confidence. He knows he can hold up his seeding and it is not
:35:33. > :36:08.easy to do. The first double fault. Milos Raonic
:36:09. > :36:15.has some tape on his arm. There is something wrong with it and he is
:36:16. > :36:21.trying to protect it. That's what allowed him to make a great first
:36:22. > :36:50.serve. The case has gone from his serve. -- the pace.
:36:51. > :36:57.Jack Sock is picking on the backhand but the trouble is can he allow
:36:58. > :37:02.himself to pick on those areas and get into this match? There is a big
:37:03. > :37:04.difference between the first-served and the second serve of Milos
:37:05. > :37:37.Raonic. A huge difference. That is a big serve out wide. Even a
:37:38. > :37:42.wide search, he had said very hard. -- wide serve. Finally Milos Raonic
:37:43. > :38:02.holds. Just the one break at 4-1. We talked
:38:03. > :38:09.about Milos Raonic. We talked about what his coach has done for him. My
:38:10. > :38:14.view is that because his coach is from Croatia but spent a lot of his
:38:15. > :38:23.childhood in Italy, he was born in Bosnia, his coach groups that Balkan
:38:24. > :38:29.and European mentality. Milos Raonic was born in Montenegro. He lived
:38:30. > :38:34.there until he was three years old and his parents then went to Canada.
:38:35. > :38:42.I suspect he has found that mixture in his coach. Part of that mentality
:38:43. > :38:47.is that his coach was always a great thinker on the court, he thought of
:38:48. > :38:56.himself as mentality and he thinks that of his player. Milos Raonic, he
:38:57. > :38:58.looks you in the eye when he talks to you. Not a lot of players do
:38:59. > :39:35.that. I told you it was a Canadian net!
:39:36. > :39:37.That was a wonderful first-served and Milos Raonic was very lucky to
:39:38. > :40:08.get that all back. -- that ball. He is serving too many double
:40:09. > :40:15.faults. Three of them in total. He is serving and volleying quite a
:40:16. > :40:49.bit. That is where he is most comfortable.
:40:50. > :40:56.That is a little bit silly from Jack Sock. You cannot lob at someone who
:40:57. > :41:18.is 6'5". That is a weak shot. Milos Raonic
:41:19. > :41:25.seems to have trouble concentrating. There are a lot of unforced errors.
:41:26. > :41:36.Jack Sock is playing fast now. He almost wants this set to be
:41:37. > :41:41.finished. That is a lovely volley. I think rail and each is complaining
:41:42. > :42:05.that the server was wide. -- Milos Raonic. You are supposed to play to
:42:06. > :42:09.the rhythm of the server. If Milos Raonic does not like what is
:42:10. > :42:21.happening, he can try to slow the server down by turning his back.
:42:22. > :42:28.That was an elementary error. Jack Sock came in and played his folly
:42:29. > :42:32.and then watched it. He was not ready for this at all. -- played his
:42:33. > :43:03.volley. Jack Sock calls from 13-40. Maybe
:43:04. > :43:09.this set is not over after all. Jack Sock is not happy with how he is
:43:10. > :44:49.playing. He is rushing with his serve.
:44:50. > :44:55.This is the problem for Jack Sock. When you have lost your serve, it is
:44:56. > :45:28.very difficult to get it back from Milos Raonic.
:45:29. > :45:37.That is one of the problems for Milos Raonic. When he comes forward,
:45:38. > :45:43.he is not ridiculously comfortable. You can see yet. A lot of the balls
:45:44. > :45:53.drop at his feet and he is not getting close and not to be able to
:45:54. > :46:07.volley them. But he still manages to hold and leads by five games to two.
:46:08. > :46:16.We have heard that a physio may be called for Jack Sock. There is
:46:17. > :46:19.nobody inside at the moment. The umpire is leaning forward to try and
:46:20. > :46:48.get some information. But here comes the trainer. SUE BARKER: let's take
:46:49. > :46:51.around -- take a look around the other matches. This is what is
:46:52. > :48:08.happening on Court Number Two. So much to look forward to later on
:48:09. > :48:15.today. We are enjoying this match. COMMENTATOR: the doctor has come on
:48:16. > :48:32.court. I have a problem with this, I really
:48:33. > :48:45.do. It causes an interruption to his opponent. He is winning, there is
:48:46. > :48:54.nothing wrong with him. He has just taken some medication. There is no
:48:55. > :48:57.need for a break for that, is there? He could have just taken that at a
:48:58. > :49:03.change of ends without there being any delay at all. There was no need
:49:04. > :49:28.for all this commotion. That was a great body serve. Ever
:49:29. > :49:36.since he lost his serve, he has not been the same person. It just shows
:49:37. > :49:59.that the break of serve is such a premium in this match.
:50:00. > :50:06.The fourth double fault for Jack Sock. But I think that is a
:50:07. > :50:14.reasonable double fault because he was going for a great second serve.
:50:15. > :50:19.I really like the fact that he is coming into the net as much as he
:50:20. > :50:24.is. But I would like to see him coming in more. He seems a lot more
:50:25. > :50:44.comfortable in the front of the court. Jack Sock was tentative in
:50:45. > :50:51.that and he could not convert them. Jack Sock still had a chance to win
:50:52. > :51:03.the game. Milos Raonic serving to take the first set.
:51:04. > :51:11.At what point should his opponents start to read the serve? I do not
:51:12. > :51:16.think he can. One thing about that serve is that he throws the ball
:51:17. > :51:22.toss in the same place, each and every time. It is very hard to
:51:23. > :51:26.anticipate what is coming. Even when he is in the right position, he is
:51:27. > :51:33.trouble -- has trouble getting the ball back in play. He has not tested
:51:34. > :51:59.the serve up his opponent. -- the serve of his opponent.
:52:00. > :52:23.We thought this match would be one on Serbs. -- would be one on Serbs.
:52:24. > :52:30.It is set point. That was a fairly easy set for Milos Raonic. He takes
:52:31. > :52:43.it 6-3. Just the one break of serve. We talk a lot about the serve of
:52:44. > :52:56.Milos Raonic. He hit six aces. Here are the statistics. The serve was
:52:57. > :53:01.dominant. Look at what happened. Milos Raonic putting all kinds of
:53:02. > :53:07.pressure on the serve of Jack Sock. He only converted one out of six.
:53:08. > :53:11.Jack Sock is not even getting a look in on his serve. If the match
:53:12. > :53:17.continues to play out in this fashion, there will only be one
:53:18. > :53:25.winner. Here is the service action of Milos Raonic. Nothing goes wrong
:53:26. > :53:33.with the serve, it is fluid, it is relaxed and he is a very tall man.
:53:34. > :53:37.He fully extends. All he has to do is hit it at the peak and he is so
:53:38. > :53:43.confident with it, whether it is the first serve or the second serve. He
:53:44. > :53:48.hits the ball on almost a downward trajectory and I absolutely love it.
:53:49. > :54:09.I think it is one of the best in the game today.
:54:10. > :54:17.He needs to get away from that first set and forget about it. He needs to
:54:18. > :54:21.get more versed serve sin. He needs to play with more passion and
:54:22. > :54:24.energy. His spirit has been broken slightly. -- get more first serves
:54:25. > :55:07.in. That is the second time that Jack
:55:08. > :55:13.Sock has attempted to lob the ball. You do not see singles players doing
:55:14. > :55:40.that. But is more likely in doubles play.
:55:41. > :55:48.Milos Raonic is not entirely convinced about that one. The
:55:49. > :55:52.problem with that is that he was in control of the point and did not
:55:53. > :55:54.actually want to come forward. He had Jack Sock on the run all over
:55:55. > :56:17.the court. Right now, he has got to be feeling
:56:18. > :56:25.all kinds of pressure. All of those double faults. Before you know what,
:56:26. > :56:27.if he goes down an early break here, it might be the last of his hopes
:56:28. > :56:56.for this match. Well played. That was a great
:56:57. > :57:12.forehand played on the run. This is explosive. Look at this. It does not
:57:13. > :57:59.get any better than this. Break point to Milos Raonic.
:58:00. > :58:09.He has missed it. That approach shot from Jack Sock came perilously close
:58:10. > :58:17.to being long. But you have to give him credit for having the courage to
:58:18. > :58:21.come forward. Milos Raonic did not even make Jack Sock play that folly.
:58:22. > :58:52.-- that volley. That was a great shot and he read
:58:53. > :58:55.that perfectly. That first volley was nice and tight and then he
:58:56. > :59:02.guesses correctly. Absolutely perfect.
:59:03. > :59:20.That is a great serve out wide. That will do a lot for his confidence. It
:59:21. > :59:23.keeps the match competitive. If you think that Wimbledon is only about
:59:24. > :59:29.grass courts, there are hard courts here as well, there is red clay,
:59:30. > :59:36.there is dark green clay. This is just across the road, we find the
:59:37. > :59:38.golf course. If you are not happy with your tennis, you can just go
:59:39. > :00:01.and jump in the lake! When you have ground strokes as big
:00:02. > :00:05.as that, to accompany that wonderful serve, it makes coming into the net
:00:06. > :00:08.so easy. There is no reason to panic. Jack Sock is way off the
:00:09. > :00:26.court. It is the first time he has had to
:00:27. > :01:17.play a volley. He kept the racket in front. His technique was not great.
:01:18. > :01:34.He was on the defensive but at least get it over the net.
:01:35. > :01:43.I think the one advantage Sock has is that he can move. He was asked to
:01:44. > :01:49.take his pullover off at the start of the match because it has some
:01:50. > :01:53.black trim on it. These guys should know better. They are being very
:01:54. > :02:06.strict on the rules this year about all white.
:02:07. > :02:13.Raonic stopped because he was not sure where the ball was going to go.
:02:14. > :02:18.He has got to keep going. He stops. He is waiting to see what happens.
:02:19. > :03:01.That shows me he is not that comfortable moving forward.
:03:02. > :03:09.He has an interesting looking forehand.
:03:10. > :03:22.It is almost like if he had a hockey stick in his hand.
:03:23. > :03:34.And ice hockey stick! We make the difference over here.
:03:35. > :03:46.Six double faults forward Jack Sock. He is pressing. He feels how
:03:47. > :04:06.difficult it is to return. He is giving Raonic so much credit.
:04:07. > :04:31.He has a good second serve. Raonic as to make him pay. You have
:04:32. > :05:01.to take advantage. That was a poor forehand by Sock.
:05:02. > :05:08.That may be the one that concedes the match. I know we are long way
:05:09. > :05:10.from the end. It is hard to see him breaking Raonic. Raonic leads with a
:05:11. > :05:23.break in the second. It is not the warmest day of the
:05:24. > :05:24.week so far. But there are plenty of people enjoying their picnic and
:05:25. > :05:41.watching the big screen. This is the players' restaurant. We
:05:42. > :05:51.should perhaps call it players and players associates because there are
:05:52. > :05:52.a lot more associates than players. It is still a good day for the
:05:53. > :06:12.suncream. That is the millennium building,
:06:13. > :06:23.completed for the year 2000. There is a footbridge to Centre Court.
:06:24. > :06:31.Jack Sock is in trouble here. A set down, 1-2 with a break. Raonic's
:06:32. > :06:52.main concern is the son. Seven double faults tells me he has
:06:53. > :07:16.come into the match shaky, not confident.
:07:17. > :07:58.He is really starting to lose the plot.
:07:59. > :08:02.Are we perhaps undervaluing what Brown which has achieved here?
:08:03. > :08:08.Here's the night in the world -- Raonic has achieved? He's just
:08:09. > :08:14.coming off his fourth quarterfinal at the French Open. Sock is 77 and
:08:15. > :08:21.never been in a singles final. Surely the school we have got now is
:08:22. > :08:26.entirely natural. We are not devaluing how good Raonic is. It is
:08:27. > :08:47.about that Sock is playing so poorly.
:08:48. > :09:17.This is a classic combination of one player playing pretty well and the
:09:18. > :09:48.other beside himself, not knowing what to do.
:09:49. > :09:53.I get the sense that the crowd want this to be more of a contest. That
:09:54. > :10:07.was really warm applause for Jack Sock.
:10:08. > :10:39.A good body serve from Sock. He is hanging in there. That is about all
:10:40. > :10:41.you can say for him at the moment. SUE BARKER: We will be back with
:10:42. > :11:04.this match in just a moment. Gael Monfils looks to be in trouble
:11:05. > :11:29.out on court 12. You can follow that match online.
:11:30. > :11:33.Lee's Cornet has been improving her world ranking every year. -- Lee's
:11:34. > :12:22.Cornet. It is important that he keeps his
:12:23. > :13:27.focus. How many net calls as he had? Every
:13:28. > :13:34.time the ball has bounced off the top of the net, it has worked
:13:35. > :13:37.Raonic's way. He is not getting in close enough. He waits for the ball
:13:38. > :14:00.to come to him and he just gets lucky.
:14:01. > :14:09.We have seen it a lot where a player makes a shot and the ball goes
:14:10. > :14:13.behind them. On the change in direction they fall. It was the
:14:14. > :14:16.change in direction. There is still a fair bit of grass there but it has
:14:17. > :14:41.lost its that. That was a much better return from
:14:42. > :14:43.Sock. He is more relaxed. It is a second serve and he decides he will
:14:44. > :15:43.just go for it. Once again, Jack Sock having a
:15:44. > :15:44.reasonable shot at that return. He pops it down the middle of the
:15:45. > :16:01.court. Sock needs to slow down. He is
:16:02. > :16:48.playing fast. He is angry. get excited happy when he hits a
:16:49. > :16:53.shot like this because in the back of his mind he is thinking, how am I
:16:54. > :17:03.going to break serve? I am already down a set and down a break. There
:17:04. > :17:28.is a lot of negativity coming from there.
:17:29. > :17:34.That was a good game for Jack Sock. He stays in contact but still a
:17:35. > :17:53.break down. People have talked about Milos
:17:54. > :17:56.Raonic through while as leader of the next generation, whoever you
:17:57. > :18:05.include, whether you include Nishikori, Dimitrov and Dolgopolov.
:18:06. > :18:14.He has re-established himself in the top ten. Do you see himself as a two
:18:15. > :18:18.or three times Grand Slam champion, once the likes of Djokovic, Nadal
:18:19. > :18:24.and Murray have retired or past their best? I think he has the
:18:25. > :18:34.potential to be a Grand Slam champion. Certainly, the forehand is
:18:35. > :18:35.Grand Slam Championship worthy. The rest of the game needs to get a
:18:36. > :19:31.little bit better. When you are playing against someone
:19:32. > :19:35.serving like this and you're down a set and down a break, it is hard to
:19:36. > :20:04.see the silver lining. Sock has had a few points off the
:20:05. > :20:57.Raonic's serve. Even the second serve is hard to get
:20:58. > :21:09.back into play. We were watching Raonic out here. He
:21:10. > :21:16.was saying how Sock is 21 years of age. He is 23. It is almost as if he
:21:17. > :21:21.is the elder statesman. He has been around longer. He did not break into
:21:22. > :21:25.the top ten until earlier this year. It was after his run to the
:21:26. > :22:26.quarterfinals in Miami where he beat Murray in the fourth round.
:22:27. > :22:38.That was long. Raonic tried a drop shot and he hit the ball right to
:22:39. > :22:47.wear Sock was standing. Every time Sock has played a drop shot, he has
:22:48. > :23:05.not known what to do on the shot afterwards. Dazed and confused.
:23:06. > :23:10.That is the strategy, pound away at the backhand. When he can get to the
:23:11. > :23:28.backhand. That was a lovely touch. I did that
:23:29. > :23:50.come from? Raonic will have to serve out the set.
:23:51. > :23:59.Shows what the American can do. Was his head right or was that devil may
:24:00. > :24:07.care? Throwing caution to the wind? It was gorgeous but if he had missed
:24:08. > :24:14.it, you would say he had checked out mentally. Exactly. But the motion is
:24:15. > :24:19.good. That shows you what he's capable of doing. Right now he is
:24:20. > :24:21.putting himself in a bad position by not playing his best against someone
:24:22. > :25:04.who is awfully good. Raonic got that right onto the
:25:05. > :25:53.baseline. That was a nice second serve. That
:25:54. > :25:57.was faster than his first serve. If it was anyone else you would say he
:25:58. > :25:59.was showboating but this is the way that Raonic can put his foot on the
:26:00. > :26:18.gas pedal. And able to play the most casual of
:26:19. > :26:22.half volleys. In control of this match, Raonic leads by two sets to
:26:23. > :26:31.zero. SUE BARKER: So Raonic is two sets to
:26:32. > :26:38.love up. We will leave that match. If you want to follow it you can
:26:39. > :26:44.online. We are heading off to Centre Court shortly. Let's just drop in on
:26:45. > :26:49.Course 12 where Gael Monfils is there. He is struggling in his
:26:50. > :26:55.match. When he played his first round match he looks rather
:26:56. > :27:02.sluggish. Lee McKenzie is there. You watched him in the first round, what
:27:03. > :27:06.is wrong here? He has dropped two sets. I spoke to him on the other
:27:07. > :27:10.night. He was explaining that although he had had a lot of
:27:11. > :27:14.discussions with the umpire, that is how he plays. He is very relaxed
:27:15. > :27:20.when he gets onto the tennis court and he has to do something to
:27:21. > :27:24.motivate himself. He almost causes problems for himself but also for
:27:25. > :27:29.his opponent, tries to get under his skin. His exact words were, I am
:27:30. > :27:35.sneaky. At the moment it is not really paying off. He has dropped
:27:36. > :27:39.two sets. He also told me that he knows instantly when he wakes up in
:27:40. > :27:44.the morning whether he is going to win or not. I'm guessing this
:27:45. > :27:49.morning it was not. Thank you. Up against a guy who is six foot six
:27:50. > :27:54.and won the junior boys here and knows how to play on grass. So Gael
:27:55. > :27:59.Monfils, the 24th seed is in trouble. You can follow that match
:28:00. > :28:03.on the red button. We will turn our attention to the Centre Court.
:28:04. > :28:28.Coming up, it is the world number one.
:28:29. > :28:36.Well, Rafa will be returning to Centre Court with the rematch of the
:28:37. > :28:41.man who beat him two years ago, Lukas Rosol of the Czech Republic.
:28:42. > :28:45.He won it in five thrilling sets. Jonathan Edwards is here, by the
:28:46. > :28:50.look of it. Many people wanting to see this one. A great programme with
:28:51. > :28:56.Rafa, Heather Watson and Roger Federer on. But all the talk has
:28:57. > :29:01.been about Rafael Nadal and Lukas Rosol. Can he pull off another big
:29:02. > :29:05.shock? I am joined here courtside by Mark Petchey and Peter Fleming. We
:29:06. > :29:14.talk about that match two years ago, not only was it a five set
:29:15. > :29:39.thriller, it was quite a testy encounter, wasn't it? It certainly
:29:40. > :29:47.was. Lukas Rosol got under his skin two years ago, moving around the
:29:48. > :29:58.court. He did, and it went into a rain delay with Rosol just a couple
:29:59. > :30:04.of games from winning a bit -- it, and when they came back out, a
:30:05. > :30:08.series of races, he was amazing. We await the arrival on centre, and
:30:09. > :30:14.Rafa probably has more routines than most people to get ready. He adjusts
:30:15. > :30:19.all sort of parts of his attire and the tennis rackets and so on. It is
:30:20. > :30:23.tough on the body. The knees have been an issue for him, the back has
:30:24. > :30:30.been an issue, and grass is an unforgiving surface. That is why he
:30:31. > :30:36.has been an advocate of trying to play as much on clay as possible.
:30:37. > :30:54.CHEERING A huge ovation for Rafa, he is such
:30:55. > :31:10.a popular player, and a gracious champion. He is terrific. Watching
:31:11. > :31:14.his match against Clyde -- Klizan in the first round, he just ground him
:31:15. > :31:24.down. By the end of the third or fourth set, in between points, he
:31:25. > :31:27.was walking, but as soon as the point started, he was sprinting
:31:28. > :31:35.around the court as quick as ever. He has an amazing pain threshold. He
:31:36. > :31:42.was talking about the back being an issue during the French Open. It has
:31:43. > :31:48.been part of the whole year, I think. He had to change his service
:31:49. > :31:53.motion a bit at Indian Wells. Just try to take some of the strain off
:31:54. > :31:58.the back. So it has been a bit of a problem for him throughout the
:31:59. > :32:05.course of the year. Last year was very reminiscent of the first year
:32:06. > :32:10.he won the French Open. Once he won his first French Open, he was
:32:11. > :32:19.exhausted coming into Wimbledon, he was emotionally drained. And having
:32:20. > :32:25.had that incredible run in 2013, to in his winner Roland Garros, he was
:32:26. > :32:30.a little flat last year. He will be ready to challenge. His game is very
:32:31. > :32:37.physical, but that is the only way he knows how to play. That's right.
:32:38. > :32:40.Even on the camera behind the court, it is very difficult to tell how
:32:41. > :32:45.hard he swings at the ball, every single ball. He hits it almost as
:32:46. > :32:51.hard as he can, and when he is feeling confident, he is virtually
:32:52. > :33:03.unplayable. And when you look at Lukas Rosol, and they are taking
:33:04. > :33:13.their time. He hit 20 aces in a match, and he will have to play that
:33:14. > :33:17.well again. Yes, Rosol is forcing Nadal to break his routine and out
:33:18. > :33:26.first. There are mind games going on a tween them. It looks like they are
:33:27. > :33:36.ready for a prize fight, jumping up and down. Let's just see. Rosol has
:33:37. > :33:40.won the toss, and there he goes. He is ready, and we're ready this
:33:41. > :33:44.match. I wonder if Lukas Rosol is ready as well. It is a repeat of
:33:45. > :33:46.their match two years ago, and he came into our office to relive some
:33:47. > :34:05.of those memories. When you look back at that, do you
:34:06. > :34:11.still remember the pressures? Yes, I was feeling strange watching these
:34:12. > :34:16.moments of the match. The emotions are good for me, and it is something
:34:17. > :34:21.special to watch this match, because everything was working well for me.
:34:22. > :34:29.UMPIRE: Ladies and gentlemen, due to the fading light, the roof will be
:34:30. > :34:36.closed to finish the match. Rafer didn't want that, did you? I wanted
:34:37. > :34:41.to finish the match. They told me it would be 30 to 40 minutes to close
:34:42. > :34:45.the roof. So I went to take a shower, eat something, come back to
:34:46. > :34:55.the court. You came back out with such incredible intensity. You wear
:34:56. > :34:58.in the different worlds. You have to stay with your mind on the court,
:34:59. > :35:03.you use your habits to free your mind. If you feel all the pressure
:35:04. > :35:09.around the court, it is very difficult to even step on the court.
:35:10. > :35:13.We saw that incredible picture of Rafa where he looked shell-shocked.
:35:14. > :35:21.Could you feel his nerves coming through at that stage? No. I was
:35:22. > :35:27.only thinking of myself. Just try to concentrate on my game and it was
:35:28. > :35:30.working. After you won that much, you said, maybe it is once in your
:35:31. > :35:38.life that you can play like this against Rafa Nadal on second court
:35:39. > :35:43.and beat him. I guess you are hoping maybe it is twice in your life now!
:35:44. > :35:48.The game is open and everything is possible. After this match I know
:35:49. > :35:55.that I can play with any player, and if it is really working, my game, it
:35:56. > :35:58.is difficult to play against me. And in terms of experience, how much do
:35:59. > :36:04.you think that you can learn and take from what you went through
:36:05. > :36:16.against Rafer last time -- against Rafa. I think it means that any
:36:17. > :36:24.player can play against the top five for the top three. After this match,
:36:25. > :36:32.I know more that every player is beatable. You don't fear Rafael
:36:33. > :36:39.Nadal? No, why should I? I have nothing to lose. He can fear. Just
:36:40. > :36:45.watching Rafa on this court, and listening to how heavy he hits the
:36:46. > :36:51.ball, incredible. It is, and Rafa has a way of punishing you when you
:36:52. > :36:54.beat him, as well. Generally, when that has happened in his career, he
:36:55. > :37:00.has gone out and made a statement the next time. There is a real sort
:37:01. > :37:06.of ferocity about him right now, about his facial expressions. He is
:37:07. > :37:14.the ultimate competitor, Rafa. He just has to go out all guns blazing,
:37:15. > :37:19.and so does Rosol. He does. Most people will go into a match
:37:20. > :37:23.thinking, what is Rafa going to do, what can I do against it? But he is
:37:24. > :37:33.going into it thinking, I know that when I play well, I can challenge
:37:34. > :37:36.anyone. We are in French challenge. Definitely. Just looking at the way
:37:37. > :37:42.he was sitting in his chair, not going out, we are looking mind games
:37:43. > :37:49.here. Can he blast Nadal off the court in the same way? I wonder if
:37:50. > :37:55.that is going to be one of the big things as well. It is a little
:37:56. > :37:59.easier to serve under pressure with the roof closed, maybe he will try
:38:00. > :38:04.that today. We are already for this match. We have the world number one
:38:05. > :38:08.here. Over on Court Number One, we have the ladies number one, Serena
:38:09. > :38:14.Williams making her way out onto court in her 15th Wimbledon. She is
:38:15. > :38:20.five times the champion here, and she is looking for her 17th Grand
:38:21. > :38:23.Slam, looking for an 18th. So that is on Court Number One, Serena
:38:24. > :38:28.making her way up against Chanelle Scheepers. That match is on the red
:38:29. > :38:32.button if you want to follow her progress. But here we are
:38:33. > :38:37.concentrating on Centre Court and the rematch between Lukas Rosol and
:38:38. > :38:53.Rafael Nadal. Your commentators are John McEnroe and Simon Reed.
:38:54. > :39:13.SIMON READ: This is a revenge match. JOHN McENROE: It certainly is. He is
:39:14. > :39:17.a big guy, look at the size of him. He is just going to swing for the
:39:18. > :39:23.fences. The other question is, do you want to be tested? Do you feel
:39:24. > :39:32.like you are more settled in the second week? The answer is, if you
:39:33. > :39:43.know you're going to win, yes. Right now, Nadal is going to come out, he
:39:44. > :39:50.knows what to expect now. Obviously two years ago he had injuries that
:39:51. > :39:58.we didn't know about. That is an interesting look, that threw me
:39:59. > :40:05.then. This is the stage. And he is going to come out, he willed himself
:40:06. > :40:09.to win in the first round, and he is going to be more constable and more
:40:10. > :40:14.ready for what he is up against. Does that mean anything will
:40:15. > :40:21.change? Not necessarily. I suspect that early in this match he will
:40:22. > :40:24.really trite take it to Rosol and get into his head as early and as
:40:25. > :40:35.quickly as possible, and not give anything away. He will hit a couple
:40:36. > :40:40.of great shots, and then go through a period where he seems not to know
:40:41. > :40:43.where the court is. And Rosol, he is 52 in the world, he has established
:40:44. > :40:49.himself as a legitimate tour player, not a flash in the pan. The results
:40:50. > :40:54.haven't been anywhere near what people would have thought when he
:40:55. > :41:02.beat Nadal, he lost the next round pretty easily and not a lot has
:41:03. > :41:06.happened since. UMPIRE: Ladies and gentlemen, Lukas
:41:07. > :41:11.Rosol won the toss and elected to receive.
:41:12. > :41:20.He didn't seem to charmed by Lukas Rosol. There was a little barge, it
:41:21. > :41:30.wasn't Luis Suarez like, but it was an incident. When I saw a Luis
:41:31. > :41:35.Suarez, I thought, think of my worst possible moment, I don't think I was
:41:36. > :41:43.that bad! They have only played twice, and the most recent time was
:41:44. > :41:50.a tight second set. Rosol succeeding in getting under the skin of Nadal
:41:51. > :41:56.the way step neck -- Radek Stepanek did. He is the guy, if you were
:41:57. > :42:01.watching a football game, he would be falling and looked like he'd
:42:02. > :42:14.broken his leg, someone hit him in the head, he'd be on the ground ten
:42:15. > :42:19.times. But he made an interesting match yesterday. Hate to play the
:42:20. > :42:40.guy, but afterwards, he has earned my respect. Let's see if this check
:42:41. > :42:46.-- Czech can do the same damage to the Dahl he did two years ago.
:42:47. > :43:36.UMPIRE: Ready. Play. And Nadal, even with his 14 slams,
:43:37. > :43:41.he will still feel nerves. To the last point, you do feel it. And
:43:42. > :43:50.Rosol will be trying to back-up what he did two years ago. What are the
:43:51. > :44:27.odds of this happening again? Second round again? Same place?
:44:28. > :44:36.So, a comfortable hold a Rafa. His uncle and his team have done some
:44:37. > :44:42.more studying to make sure they have got a very good idea. No surprises
:44:43. > :44:48.this time. They have studied some tapes, I've got a feeling. Set this
:44:49. > :44:50.guys tendencies out, make sure they are not fooled by anything that
:44:51. > :45:07.comes along in this match today. Rosol served 22 aces last time they
:45:08. > :45:54.met here. Here we go! That was very poor, that
:45:55. > :46:30.drop shot. It should have been over. That is an excellent low volley.
:46:31. > :46:57.He was hardly missing a couple of years ago.
:46:58. > :47:07.Easily picked off. I think you were going to see a lot of short balls
:47:08. > :47:11.from Nadal, forcing Rosol in. He is a big guy, so the slice is going to
:47:12. > :48:07.stay low, it will be tougher for him to handle.
:48:08. > :48:18.And Rosol opens his account. He certainly packs a punch. If he
:48:19. > :48:25.conserve well, it will be problematic for Nadal. This is what
:48:26. > :49:31.this big guy wants, is to control points and get ahead with the serve.
:49:32. > :49:51.serve and the second, the proverbial kitchen sink.
:49:52. > :50:54.The forehand working really well there.
:50:55. > :51:04.Misfiring a little, but Nadal holds. UMPIRE: Nadal leads by two games to
:51:05. > :51:09.one, first set. Let's have a closer look at the
:51:10. > :51:14.Rosol serve. We start with the fact he is six foot five. That alone
:51:15. > :51:21.allows him to pick his spot more easily than us mere mortals. The key
:51:22. > :51:37.to any serve is the legs. The power springs from the legs. You combine
:51:38. > :51:45.that with some torque around your core area. He can go into the 120s
:51:46. > :51:50.when he wants to, but he prefers to play it safe, get 70% or more serves
:51:51. > :51:56.in. There are not too many lefties out there, so they are not used to
:51:57. > :52:06.the spin. It is a tool more than a weapon for him.
:52:07. > :52:11.UMPIRE: Time, please. One of the events he played, he went
:52:12. > :52:14.to a challenger in Dallas which he won, and I'm looking at the people
:52:15. > :52:20.he beat. Four of the five people he beat, Michael Russell, Ryan
:52:21. > :52:26.Harrison, Steve Johnson, all in the main draw here. It gives you an idea
:52:27. > :52:30.that the minor leagues can be pretty tough times. The only guy that
:52:31. > :52:46.wasn't in with Daniel Brands, a former top 50 player.
:52:47. > :53:04.So the depth clearly is better and better in our sport.
:53:05. > :53:08.Is there a danger that he would try to make a statement early on to
:53:09. > :53:28.often? This serve, we showed it, it will be
:53:29. > :53:45.Keith Fahey. -- key for him. He is going to have to serve really big.
:53:46. > :54:13.Wow. That is the kind of return he wants. Again, the serve is going to
:54:14. > :54:55.set that shot up. He needs to cut that slice little
:54:56. > :55:16.more, not let it float. It gives Rosol time to get under it.
:55:17. > :55:25.So, Rosol staying with him. You can see what happens when you lose your
:55:26. > :55:34.balance. It is the biggest problem the tennis player would have. Once
:55:35. > :55:41.that goes, you are in big trouble. That's what a big hitter does to
:55:42. > :56:05.you. It unknown to you. Denise Lewis always had perfect balance.
:56:06. > :56:17.What a rally! A surprise, but well done. This is a good reply. Take it
:56:18. > :56:20.in the air. I don't know how often he will do that. He made Rafa hit a
:56:21. > :57:15.very tough pass. Fantastic! What a pick-up. The
:57:16. > :57:21.return had to be hit at 100 miles an hour. Look at that. This is why he
:57:22. > :57:23.has got such a light racket, so that you can generate that speed in a
:57:24. > :57:48.flash. Slotted that home calmly. Here is
:57:49. > :57:54.the previous point. Look at that, it was virtually a half-volley. The
:57:55. > :57:56.first car I saw that do that consistently was Andre Agassi. He
:57:57. > :58:16.somehow made it look easy. UMPIRE: Game, Nadal. Nadal leads by
:58:17. > :58:24.three games to two, first set. SUE BARKER: And we will be straight
:58:25. > :58:30.back with this match on Centre in a moment. Kei Nishikori is through
:58:31. > :58:36.comfortable in straight sets over the qualifier from the United
:58:37. > :58:44.States, Denis Kudla. He goes through to face either Kohlschreiber or
:58:45. > :58:50.Simone Bolelli in the next round. And Milos Raonic is also through in
:58:51. > :58:53.straight sets against Jack Sock of the United States. He has gone
:58:54. > :59:04.through 6-3, 6-4, 6-4. So, the number eight seed goes
:59:05. > :59:09.through there. A couple of updates to bring you. Gael Monfils is in
:59:10. > :59:21.trouble, two sets to love down now against your Reeva silly -- Jiri
:59:22. > :59:27.Vesely. That is on the red button. But no problems the Serena Williams,
:59:28. > :59:34.4-1 up against Chanelle Scheepers, that match also on the red button.
:59:35. > :59:53.We will continue to keep you up-to-date. Back we go to Centre.
:59:54. > :00:15.SIMON REED: He has got some tapes there. We are still on serve.
:00:16. > :00:30.It doesn't seem to be impinging on making his shot. Not at all.
:00:31. > :00:38.He wants to continue to be unpredictable. Nadal will not expect
:00:39. > :00:46.him to serve and volley. A big tattoo there on the leg.
:00:47. > :00:53.That has to be painful, on the calf. Not as much muscle. If tattoos were
:00:54. > :00:55.round when you were starting you would have had one. I do have a
:00:56. > :01:17.couple. Do you? You can see why he is so difficult
:01:18. > :01:28.and point. He has some major firepower.
:01:29. > :01:43.-- point. Did you have a bogey opponent who came out of left side
:01:44. > :01:48.and mugged you? I saw a guy like Boris berk, who was 17, 16-year-old,
:01:49. > :01:55.who is this guy? -- Becker. Big, strong, you know, serving a tonne. I
:01:56. > :02:03.didn't realise he would be that good. I knew he was going to be
:02:04. > :02:37.good. Seven Wimbledon finals later...
:02:38. > :02:51.Olympic champion quietly contempt mating that magnificent effort.
:02:52. > :03:55.-- contemplating. It is not much compromise, is there
:03:56. > :04:01.from Rosol? That is the way he has to play. Keep the point short, not
:04:02. > :04:11.let Nadal relax, get in a real rhythm.
:04:12. > :04:40.First set they played here two years ago went to a tie-break.
:04:41. > :04:58.Forehand finishing that, a lot people reckon his forehand is the
:04:59. > :05:03.best ever, do you go along with that? I think that is certainly
:05:04. > :05:07.arguable. If you look at the way he is able to manoeuvre himself round
:05:08. > :05:13.the court. The footwork, the side stepping that he does, to get - look
:05:14. > :05:18.at this, to get himself in position, to get over there and he, nowadays,
:05:19. > :05:23.the players put weight on their back foot, and they push off their back
:05:24. > :05:26.foot, as we were taught, take the shorter swing, and then move forward
:05:27. > :05:31.and have your weight on your front foot. But they figured out a way to
:05:32. > :05:37.give themselves maybe that extra split second of time, which allows
:05:38. > :05:41.them to sort of purr ruse court that bit more, and then they deliberately
:05:42. > :05:46.got much lighter racquet, smaller grips, with this unbelievable
:05:47. > :05:50.racquet head speed that causes, you have never seen a guy hit top-spin
:05:51. > :05:54.like this. He does it time and again. The most admirable part to me
:05:55. > :06:00.is the footwork, the way he moves round and how quickly it is so much
:06:01. > :06:06.more difficult you would think. Try it. Go out there and try do what he
:06:07. > :06:13.does. Yes. Forget hitting the ball. To get yourself in that position
:06:14. > :06:24.that quick. You don't have a whole lot of time when you are playing
:06:25. > :06:28.guys like Lukas Rosol. New balls now. Trying to impose
:06:29. > :07:10.himself somehow on this guy's serve. You can see the new balls really
:07:11. > :07:18.moving. That is the hardest he has hit. 130 there.
:07:19. > :07:43.Rafa can't get anything going on the Rosol serve at the moment. That is
:07:44. > :07:48.exactly what he couldn't want -- doesn't want to happen. He doesn't
:07:49. > :07:55.with to allow Rosol to not have much stress. He wants to make him work.
:07:56. > :08:00.This is unlike Nadal, to see a game end in like a minute. Usually, gets
:08:01. > :08:02.himself, figures out a way to at least work the guy over a bit. Make
:08:03. > :09:02.him move. Hard to do it with Rosol. Whoa! Now there's trouble. It has
:09:03. > :09:06.shifted to Rosol. I don't know why he just guided this. He would have
:09:07. > :09:10.gone off it more regardless of where he hit it. He gave Rosol too good a
:09:11. > :09:26.look. Yes. He realises it.
:09:27. > :09:35.Wow, he is going to challenge. I don't think that was in, he should
:09:36. > :09:41.challenge at this stage, at love 30. Rum UMPIRE:
:09:42. > :09:48.Mr Rosol is challenging. It was called in as Rosol is challenging.
:09:49. > :10:30.It's in. You see that same type of serve this
:10:31. > :10:35.next point. See how far his left Rosol goes to cut it off. It look
:10:36. > :10:39.like there is an opening if he slices it short.
:10:40. > :11:04.Just missed. Oh! Here is Rosol with two break
:11:05. > :11:34.points. One he will be serving for the set.
:11:35. > :11:44.As big a forehand as he has hit. The fact he could find that, attack that
:11:45. > :12:11.is amazing. Especially when you are down double break point.
:12:12. > :12:34.Is he going to go wide again? That is brave. Rosol was hoping double
:12:35. > :12:43.again. Of course he was going wide, he should have stepped in and ripped
:12:44. > :13:01.it. Gone for it. That is his style. Tight there himself.
:13:02. > :13:11.So that return has earned him a third chance.
:13:12. > :13:15.Now where is he going to stand? He upset Rafa a bit from all this
:13:16. > :13:34.movement. In his receiving position. But he has got the break.
:13:35. > :13:48.Could lightning possibly strike twice in the same place.
:13:49. > :13:56.Well, we continue to be amazed, but the way he has picked it up, he
:13:57. > :14:01.settled in. I think Rafa's sense in the beginning, clearly this guy was
:14:02. > :14:06.more wound up, but he count take advantage, when it got to be two
:14:07. > :14:13.allish, suddenly he started making impact, with that power. Height and
:14:14. > :14:19.weight of shot, and that was a big time game, to break the new balls
:14:20. > :14:27.really seemed to help him off his serve, he just, he bummed Nadal out.
:14:28. > :14:35.God, this guy's good, man. "I don't like this: Now I'm having
:14:36. > :14:38.nightmares." Memories coming back Why just against me? That is what he
:14:39. > :14:47.is thinking. "Why do I get these draws?" If any
:14:48. > :14:53.guy will figure a way out of it, it will be Nadal. He had the chance to
:14:54. > :14:57.take set lead which didn't happen last time. Serving for the set,
:14:58. > :15:44.after half an hour, just... Rosol is starting to love it out
:15:45. > :15:46.here. He can't stop having winner. It is like the fifth set last time
:15:47. > :16:01.round. By the way, as we lock at triple set
:16:02. > :16:05.point, his career Grand Slam record, coming to this match is eight wins,
:16:06. > :16:11.12 losses. -- look. And he has just won the
:16:12. > :16:15.first set. And looking frighteningly good by
:16:16. > :16:31.the end of it. First set in 33 minutes.
:16:32. > :16:36.It was in the last ten minutes that he suddenly stepped it up. You can
:16:37. > :16:44.see what happens when a guy relaxes and finds himself and settles down,
:16:45. > :16:54.and if you are 6'5. These are the type of guys, when you lock at John
:16:55. > :17:00.Isner, I know, I tell you the guys in a draw, Isner, Raonic, to a
:17:01. > :17:04.lesser degree, obviously much lesser, Rosol. Where you are not in
:17:05. > :17:12.charge, where you are assuming, and they do most of the time, the better
:17:13. > :17:19.guys less, beat themselves. Stepanek, the guy just, he is
:17:20. > :17:25.annoying to play. He knows how to compete, and get the crowd worked
:17:26. > :17:30.up, and, I would rather not deal with that. Let someone else beat
:17:31. > :17:35.him. Save my energy for when I really need it, but now all of a
:17:36. > :17:39.sudden, Nadal. If you look at his draw, he has to have the toughest.
:17:40. > :17:47.Klizan came to play, there is another guy, a big guy, you have
:17:48. > :17:56.Rosol, you have got... Janowicz. He is not, he, that would be the semis
:17:57. > :18:05.but he has like a guy like Raonic is his quarter. Kei Nishikori, Gasquet
:18:06. > :18:10.has pedigree on grass, Monfils is out there. He is the winner of that
:18:11. > :18:17.match. That is just to get to the semis.
:18:18. > :18:20.This is tense times for Nadal. He puts so much effort into winning the
:18:21. > :18:29.French. I wondered whether getting bundled
:18:30. > :18:30.out early on might have been a blessing in disguise. At the moment
:18:31. > :19:02.it is not looking like that. Two years ago when he lost to Rosol,
:19:03. > :19:06.he didn't pick up a racket for seven month, the knee was a problem. I
:19:07. > :19:10.don't know if that was coincidence, but that was it.
:19:11. > :19:15.Two years ago he went to see the knee doctor, tomorrow if he loses
:19:16. > :19:49.this, he will be seeing a psychiatrist! Psychiatrist! If he
:19:50. > :20:17.loses to this guy again. Talk about luck of the draw.
:20:18. > :20:32.Just leaned on that front leg and away it went. It is well timed.
:20:33. > :20:54.Nadal second serve is hittable. He is really taking advantage.
:20:55. > :21:26.Rosol is on a high at the moment. The first unforced error for a
:21:27. > :21:29.little while. He has been smacking winners left,
:21:30. > :21:59.right and centre. SUE BARKER: Here on two we are
:22:00. > :22:08.leaving Centre Court, if you want to watch this, you can, it continues
:22:09. > :22:13.now over on BBC One. We head over to another number one, Serena Williams
:22:14. > :22:17.is on Court Number One against Chanelle Scheepers of South Africa.
:22:18. > :22:24.Serena in control here, no problems for her, 6-1, 3-0 up. We can join
:22:25. > :22:25.our commentators out there. Martina Navratilova is alongside
:22:26. > :22:30.our commentators out there. Martina Navratilova Chris Brad Haddin. In
:22:31. > :22:39.devastating form Serena Williams as she was in the. 16 aces from the
:22:40. > :22:44.greatest server. Many say of all time.
:22:45. > :22:49.No joy for Scheepers. Broken in her first service game. It set the scene
:22:50. > :22:54.in this match. From the beginning.
:22:55. > :22:59.For all of that, Serena has her match face on, she is so focussed on
:23:00. > :23:02.getting this job done. She has had one expression on her face the whole
:23:03. > :23:08.match. You would not know when she won the point, lost the point, after
:23:09. > :23:13.she won the first set 6-1 she sat that stone faced. She closed her
:23:14. > :23:25.eyes or read noerts. She has been very work man like today.
:23:26. > :23:30.A very comfortable lead. She is on cruise control today.
:23:31. > :23:35.Beaten early at the French, asked when she got here how long she had
:23:36. > :23:44.taken to get over it. She shot back "Who says I was over it?" Some
:23:45. > :23:49.losses you never get over, but at least that one you arrange quickly,
:23:50. > :23:52.so Wimbledon is so quickly after the French Open, that is great for
:23:53. > :24:02.Serena she has this opportunity on her favourite surface.
:24:03. > :24:05.You can turn an iffy year into a great year by winning here. It
:24:06. > :24:10.happened in 2012. Lost the first round, the first time she has gone
:24:11. > :24:18.out first round in a major and lost three matches only in the next 12
:24:19. > :24:22.months. Won her fifth Wimbledon here.
:24:23. > :24:27.Singles and doubles. Stanford, Olympic Gold, singles and doubles.
:24:28. > :24:34.Season ends championships. Got the number one ranking back after making
:24:35. > :24:36.semis in Doha last year. Oldest world number one on record. So watch
:24:37. > :24:53.out. Nice. The ninth time she has won
:24:54. > :25:01.just about all the points there in very aggressive from the ground,
:25:02. > :25:05.moll allows Scheepers to get shots for her. When the opportunity comes
:25:06. > :25:23.moving forward very well. Doubles her account. Half a smile.
:25:24. > :25:39.Big cheer from the number one court crowd.
:25:40. > :25:46.We talked earlier, Serena, her biggest opponent the mirror. Can you
:25:47. > :25:50.understand, with how great she, she sometimes beats herself? When you
:25:51. > :25:55.get older you get more nervous, your time is coming to an end, and you
:25:56. > :25:58.don't have that many opportunities so you stress about that. Your
:25:59. > :26:04.appreciation for the game grows, your passion for it, so it means
:26:05. > :26:07.more, and then as Serena is going through it, I went through it, for
:26:08. > :26:12.the most part you were in control. You are the best player out there,
:26:13. > :26:18.it is up to you, you get the glory when you win, you get the blame when
:26:19. > :26:22.you lose, good news, bad news, you are so good that anything but
:26:23. > :26:27.winning is a failure, so, it puts a lot of pressure on you, you never
:26:28. > :26:32.get away from the pressure until you retire, because even if you win a
:26:33. > :26:38.tournament, there is a next one. You are expected to win that too.
:26:39. > :26:42.Everywhere she goes. Expectations are self imposed as well as world
:26:43. > :26:47.imposed. To become world number one, they are all Gunning for you. Serena
:26:48. > :26:53.Williams makes headlines when she loses, more so than when she wins.
:26:54. > :27:00.Scheepers is out very early to resume. With a bit a breeze. Serena
:27:01. > :27:13.Williams set and 4-1. Backhand has been in good form. That
:27:14. > :27:17.is the best shot of the match for Scheepers throughout. The only time
:27:18. > :27:20.she has been able to get the ball past Serena Williams, that was the
:27:21. > :27:24.only time she was set for the shot, took the pace off, rolled it
:27:25. > :27:29.crosscourt. That is her best shot. Her backhand. It has been going well
:27:30. > :27:42.today. Forehand not so much but the backhand has been there.
:27:43. > :27:53.That was her coach, I would tell her to tighten up her destroyings a bit.
:27:54. > :27:59.But nice overhead from Serena Williams. That is an uncomfortable
:28:00. > :28:02.shot. Hit it up in the air like that.
:28:03. > :28:16.-- her strings a bit. Everything has been so well
:28:17. > :28:22.controlled by Serena's day. She has only used the left hand once to calm
:28:23. > :28:27.herself down. A spread left hand? A couple of gaming a. I missed that, I
:28:28. > :28:32.have seen the fist pump but I didn't see the spread hand. It cracks me up
:28:33. > :28:40.when she does that. It says so much, doesn't it. That her vet. That
:28:41. > :28:44.should be and ace. Yes, it is. The umpire making the correct
:28:45. > :28:50.correction and call, in that the ball was passed. Scheepers had no
:28:51. > :28:51.bearing on her being able to get the ball back, so eighth ace for Serena
:28:52. > :29:05.Williams. That would have been a 123mph first
:29:06. > :29:10.serve, if she missed it. Quite a variety on that first serve, in
:29:11. > :29:21.pace. See that one slice out wide, 96.
:29:22. > :29:31.That is a 25mph difference. You don't know if it is is a bullet
:29:32. > :29:36.coming at you or a big spinner. So just 47 minutes Scheepers serving
:29:37. > :29:41.to stay in the match. It is her fifth Wimbledon main draw,
:29:42. > :29:56.the first time she had won a main draw match. It was a huge day.
:29:57. > :30:06.They are both listed at 5'nine. They looked the same -- 5'9. Serena is
:30:07. > :30:09.hitting her second serve as hard as Scheepers is hitting her first
:30:10. > :30:31.serve. What I am impressed with, Serena has
:30:32. > :30:38.been very controlled emotionally, but also her game is well balanced
:30:39. > :30:42.today. She has been disciplined with her
:30:43. > :30:46.shots. Putting the ball cleanly in the middle. She was looking to see,
:30:47. > :30:50.Serena was looking to see if the ball came in, thought maybe she
:30:51. > :30:52.missed it out, stayed in the corner and able to hit a winner
:30:53. > :31:17.down-the-line. Too good. We said it would be about
:31:18. > :31:28.50 minutes. We are at 49 minutes now, first match point for Serena
:31:29. > :31:30.Williams. That will do it! UMPIRE: Game, set and match Miss
:31:31. > :31:45.Williams. Chanelle Scheepers' big day ends in
:31:46. > :31:55.disappointment. She is still very much the one to beat. A lot of
:31:56. > :32:00.players have been holding one finger up in the air, but she really can do
:32:01. > :32:08.it, because she is number one. A matter-of-fact performance. Never
:32:09. > :32:12.close to break point, the closest she got to losing her serve was
:32:13. > :32:22.15-30, once. A comprehensive win at every level. Confident. Chanelle
:32:23. > :32:23.Scheepers just happy that she won a game in each set.
:32:24. > :32:36.APPLAUSE Finished her doubles at nine o'clock
:32:37. > :32:43.last night, a quick turnaround. But it made no difference whatsoever. 49
:32:44. > :32:50.minutes to back-up the 61 minutes on Tuesday, third on Centre Court,
:32:51. > :32:54.sending out very good messages after the earlier departure in Paris.
:32:55. > :32:59.Absolutely. Hitting all the shot is well, well-balanced in every which
:33:00. > :33:04.way, emotionally, mentally, physically. 26 winners, seven
:33:05. > :33:11.unforced error is, that is a clean match. She will be happy to have the
:33:12. > :33:15.afternoon off and reset for another day. Two years ago when she won
:33:16. > :33:23.here, her fifth title, she hit more aces in the tournament than any man
:33:24. > :33:32.throughout Championships. That is amazing. Present company excluded,
:33:33. > :33:41.the greatest server of all time. No, she is the best, even including me.
:33:42. > :33:46.A quick match for the number one Court crowd. But they have a chance
:33:47. > :33:57.to see one of the all-time great in action. It is always a thrill for so
:33:58. > :34:04.many. 17 majors, five here, the only thing she hasn't done, she has done
:34:05. > :34:15.the Serena slammed, holding all four majors at one time, is to do the
:34:16. > :34:30.Grand Slam. It is a beautiful day again here in NSW 19. -- S W 19. And
:34:31. > :34:36.here she is with Phil Jones. Serena, well played. You out Court lace last
:34:37. > :34:43.night -- late last night in a doubles match. It was a super fun
:34:44. > :34:49.doubles match last night, I love doubles here, it is so much fun. I'm
:34:50. > :34:54.sure the whole world saw the pictures where you went careering
:34:55. > :35:00.into the crowd. No harm done. Some wonderful gents caught me yesterday,
:35:01. > :35:07.it was so funny, I just started laughing. It was so embarrassing, I
:35:08. > :35:10.just had to laugh about it. It is great to see you having fun here and
:35:11. > :35:16.to see you playing so well. What is it like for you when people are
:35:17. > :35:26.already putting you week two is a five-time, you're expected to win.
:35:27. > :35:30.How does that feel for you? It is tough, because it is every week for
:35:31. > :35:33.the past two and a half years. To be favourite can be a pressure, but I
:35:34. > :35:38.have learned to deal with it, and I would rather look at it that way
:35:39. > :35:43.than any other. And you get to enjoy the moment when you come off court,
:35:44. > :35:50.and you like to give your crowd your time back. I have been coming here
:35:51. > :35:54.over a decade, and it is so great to see my fans and supporters,
:35:55. > :35:59.especially the kids. It makes me feel really good. It is great to see
:36:00. > :36:02.you here, keep up the good form, and no more falls in the crowd! Thank
:36:03. > :36:09.you. SUE BARKER: She was only on court
:36:10. > :36:15.for 49 minutes there, but a super performance from Serena, who has
:36:16. > :36:20.come here on a mission. You would be brave to bet against her winning her
:36:21. > :36:24.18th Grand Slam title. What a champion she has been, and a
:36:25. > :36:25.champion's performance today. So, the world number one safely through
:36:26. > :36:36.to round three. And she will face in the next round
:36:37. > :36:47.Alize Cornet of France, who went through in three sets against Petra
:36:48. > :36:50.Cetkovska. You can bet she will be on a big show caught by her next
:36:51. > :36:56.match as she takes on the world number one.
:36:57. > :37:02.While Serena has been going safely through, look at this. Rafael
:37:03. > :37:09.Nadal, the men's world number one, is struggling. He has lost the first
:37:10. > :37:12.set to Lukas Rosol, and is a break down in the second, against the man
:37:13. > :37:19.who would imagine the Championships two years ago. That match Oberon BBC
:37:20. > :37:34.One. On the red button, you can see which a gas -- Richard Gasquet
:37:35. > :37:41.against Nick Kyrgios, and on court 17, Philipp Kohlschreiber is into
:37:42. > :37:45.the fifth and final set with Simone Bolelli of Italy, you can follow
:37:46. > :37:51.that match online. The struggle for the 22nd seed. But here on two,
:37:52. > :38:01.we're going to head out to court 12 to see Gael Monfils who is
:38:02. > :38:09.struggling against Jiri Vesely. He has served the biggest serve of the
:38:10. > :38:19.tournament so far, hundred and 43 mph. -- 143 mph. Your commentators
:38:20. > :38:30.are Mark Sellers and Ronald McIntosh.
:38:31. > :38:51.Producing a forehand winner after that 12 stroke rally.
:38:52. > :39:12.He has been pulled all corners of the court by Monfils.
:39:13. > :39:17.He has reduced the number of unforced errors as the match has
:39:18. > :39:55.progressed. A clever serve thereby Monfils,
:39:56. > :39:59.taking the pace off, opening up the court. It remains on serve here in
:40:00. > :40:03.set number four. First court. It remains on serve here in
:40:04. > :40:06.set number four. free set were decided by tie-break, but that
:40:07. > :40:12.doesn't begin to tell the story, because in the first two, the effort
:40:13. > :40:16.and application of this man was inconsistent to say the least. Some
:40:17. > :40:22.strokes didn't even appear to try, playing shots by hind his back in
:40:23. > :40:25.the middle of around a when the game was still up for grabs, constant
:40:26. > :40:32.conversation with the umpire and the crowd, tossed his racket into the
:40:33. > :40:34.crowd in frustration at one point. All of his problems appear to be
:40:35. > :41:23.behind him. We have mentioned the problems that
:41:24. > :41:27.Monfils appears to be having. Vasely, just 20 years of age, did
:41:28. > :41:30.very well to remain focused and remain in the match. He has fought
:41:31. > :41:46.back to take it tie-break. Evasive action taken by spectators
:41:47. > :41:50.here on court 12! Monfils has raised his game to a different level now.
:41:51. > :42:04.The sort of play that we're used to seeing from him, a fine return.
:42:05. > :42:17.The trusty serve coming to his aid, it has been a feature of the match.
:42:18. > :42:24.A typical left-handed slice, this time down the middle. You can see
:42:25. > :42:31.Monfils really ruling that he missed that opportunity there. He is
:42:32. > :43:19.seriously competitive now. He wasn't in the early part of the match.
:43:20. > :43:27.What a return! A blistering crosscourt forehand from Monfils.
:43:28. > :43:32.This looked as though it was going to be a difficult shot by Vasely,
:43:33. > :43:40.but the shot Monfils plays there really is a rabbit out of the hat.
:43:41. > :43:51.Well done, excellent serve, that one. He has served well. He is a big
:43:52. > :43:56.server, six foot six in height. The power of the serve, the variation of
:43:57. > :44:18.it, moved through the air, so much slice.
:44:19. > :44:34.UMPIRE: Vasely leaves five games to fall, fourth set. He overcame a 0-30
:44:35. > :44:44.deficit, ultimately a very impressive hold to remain on serve
:44:45. > :44:50.here in the fourth set. That was the moment where the serve was held in
:44:51. > :44:54.the ninth game. He has only lost his serve once in the match, in actual
:44:55. > :45:05.fact, and that was in the third set. He was in the enviable position of a
:45:06. > :45:10.set and 3-1 up. He had 0-40 on Monfils's serve. And Monfils
:45:11. > :45:13.produced an extraordinarily good shot, he was in command at that
:45:14. > :45:21.stage. UMPIRE: Time.
:45:22. > :45:25.His game was raised. He looked in the doldrums, didn't look as if it
:45:26. > :45:30.really mattered at all. And then suddenly he caught fire, and all of
:45:31. > :45:35.a sudden he has taken the third set, and it is a hugely important match
:45:36. > :45:40.now. It is terrifically exciting. It really is difficult to overstate
:45:41. > :45:46.just how disinterested Monfils appeared at times during the opening
:45:47. > :45:51.set. Circus shots were attempted. Completely devoid of intent. But all
:45:52. > :46:00.of his troubles seem to be behind him now.
:46:01. > :46:14.Monfils needs to hold to stay in the match here.
:46:15. > :46:20.You would anticipate that this return was going to be a winner.
:46:21. > :46:29.Monfils takes extra big strides to get to it.
:46:30. > :47:15.In double quick time, Monfils hold serve. He is just taking time to sit
:47:16. > :47:24.in an official's chair is the new balls are moved from the canisters.
:47:25. > :47:29.They have been on court for more than two and a half hours now. 11th

:48:17. > :48:33.That is wide. Richard Gasquet has played 20 five set matches over the

:49:02. > :49:12.Nick Kyrgios played that straight back to his opponent. That was an

:01:55. > :02:19.How was that for a second serve? It was courageous.

:08:20. > :08:39.He has done it! An epic fightback from Nick Kyrgios.

:09:11. > :09:19.Playing against the man who has played 20 five set matches. What a
:09:20. > :09:25.performance. Of course, Richard Gasquet made a massive contribution
:09:26. > :09:33.to this battle on Court Two. He can leave with his head held high. They
:09:34. > :09:35.were always behind the underdog, the 19-year-old Australian has made a
:09:36. > :09:54.serious breakthrough this afternoon. Kyrgios in no rush to leave the
:09:55. > :10:00.scene of his greatest triumph. He is just going to soak it up for a
:10:01. > :10:07.little longer. He has earned some fans here today, Nick Kyrgios. What
:10:08. > :10:13.a spectacular performance. We saw it all out on Court Two. Big serving,
:10:14. > :10:22.good use of the court, tremendous court coverage. He saved nine match

:10:46. > :10:49.will not be getting far from that court because Lleyton Hewitt will be
:10:50. > :10:58.on much later this afternoon. Aussie tennis really on the up. Let's show
:10:59. > :11:00.you what is happening elsewhere. It is going well for Tommy Robredo, the
:11:01. > :11:13.23rd seed. Over on Court Three, Sabine Lisicki,
:11:14. > :11:15.last year's runner-up, she has taken the opening set on serve. That
:11:16. > :11:32.matches on the red button. Let's take you further around to
:11:33. > :11:38.court number 12. One of the new young stars rising in the game, she

:11:46. > :11:53.car has taken the first set in his match. -- Stanislas Wawrinka. But
:11:54. > :11:58.there is a problem with his back and the trainer is standing by. We will
:11:59. > :12:02.keep an eye on that. Let's stay with this one and we will join our
:12:03. > :12:11.commentators Peter Fleming and Mark Petchey.
:12:12. > :12:20.Lu will be delighted with that service game.
:12:21. > :12:28.They looked as if things were looking a bit bleak once again for
:12:29. > :12:35.the man from Chinese Taipei. He had to save break points the opening
:12:36. > :12:41.game of the second set. It looked as if Wawrinka was starting to get
:12:42. > :12:45.traction on his return. He has struggled enormously in that
:12:46. > :12:51.department in this match. He struggled with success in the
:12:52. > :12:58.opening set. He came back from 5-1 down, his opponent having served for
:12:59. > :13:05.the set at 5-4. There is still work to be done in this match. Oh, yes.
:13:06. > :13:14.Wawrinka has to be thrilled that he is up a set and on serve here, even
:13:15. > :13:23.though he could quite easily have been up a break couple of times.
:13:24. > :13:27.He has not really looked himself thus far in this match. He slipped
:13:28. > :13:44.quite drastically early on. There was definitely a little puff
:13:45. > :13:54.of white but it looked behind the line, to be fair.
:13:55. > :15:01.He has had some quick ones in the match. That is right up there. 35
:15:02. > :15:08.seconds was his quickest. He heats the pressure back on Lu who
:15:09. > :15:34.has struggled but so far survived. He has been quite vocal in this
:15:35. > :15:37.match, or Wawrinka. He tries to stay positive throughout the troubles he
:15:38. > :16:08.has had. He hasn't figured out a plan at all.
:16:09. > :16:28.Sometimes ripping the forehand, and others chipping it.
:16:29. > :16:35.that period where he was playing so strongly. It is not as if he has
:16:36. > :16:38.gone away completely. You felt he could see what the opponent was
:16:39. > :17:13.going to do and he had the finesse in the hands.
:17:14. > :17:17.A week ago he said he was not Stanislas Wawrinka any more, he was
:17:18. > :17:55.down. -- Stan Wawrinka. And an inch or two inside the
:17:56. > :18:21.baseline. You are right, it is hard work. A
:18:22. > :18:28.lot of hard work to play the way this game is played. But it is also
:18:29. > :18:32.his ability to come up with moments of inspiration like that backhand
:18:33. > :18:40.that allows him to play with the very best players in the world. Such
:18:41. > :19:14.a dominant player when things go his way.
:19:15. > :19:20.2010 was the year that Lu was having his greatest ever run to the
:19:21. > :20:26.quarterfinals. suddenly finds himself trailing by a
:20:27. > :20:35.set and a break. Trying to press a little bit.
:20:36. > :20:44.He has looked to the over the course of his career. He broke into the top
:20:45. > :20:45.100 back in 2004. He has not looked as resilient in this match is he
:20:46. > :21:50.perhaps should have been. He carries the weight of
:21:51. > :21:58.expectations in two Grand Slams now. In this match it is his weight
:21:59. > :22:17.of shot which is proving too much for Lu at times.
:22:18. > :22:50.That was an interesting play. He soft bald Lu.
:22:51. > :24:55.Nicely played. Perhaps just a bit of desperation in that shot.
:24:56. > :25:04.It was a slip like that back in the first set that really seemed to set
:25:05. > :25:13.Wawrinka on edge. It was quite a nasty fall. It appeared as though we
:25:14. > :25:25.he might have jammed his heel or hurt his back.
:25:26. > :25:34.We wondered if it might have repercussions but it does not seem
:25:35. > :25:48.to have. He seems to have settled into a reasonable frame of mind.
:25:49. > :26:02.Lu, you feel has get off to a good start in this third set. He has lost
:26:03. > :26:14.a couple of times from two sets to love up. Fernando Gonzalez in the
:26:15. > :26:15.2000 French Open, came back after dropping the opening two sets
:26:16. > :27:45.against Wawrinka. That is pretty clearly a first
:27:46. > :28:41.serve. Lu was the one who should feel hard done by here.
:28:42. > :28:43.Wawrinka's first serve percentage has improved greatly from set number
:28:44. > :28:54.one. It is hovering around the 50% mark
:28:55. > :29:36.but it was in the 30s. He is just a bludgeon at times,
:29:37. > :29:42.isn't he? Not a lot you can do to take him off the ball. You can't
:29:43. > :29:43.expect an awful lot from the point where -- when you put it on his
:29:44. > :30:18.backhand. sitting up nicely. He hits that
:30:19. > :31:09.return at shoulder height. would have been more difficult
:31:10. > :31:16.Hattie Dean once set up. You feel Lu's opportunity came and went after
:31:17. > :31:23.45 minutes. -- had he been one set up. He served and he found himself
:31:24. > :31:27.5-up in the tie-break. Wawrinka can play with more freedom, even though
:31:28. > :31:57.he was one set down. Lu started running. While the ball
:31:58. > :32:03.was still sitting there! It is as though Stan must have changed his
:32:04. > :33:32.mind, but he did not. A shocking error!
:33:33. > :33:47.A confident overhead. He warmed up for these Wimbledon Championships by
:33:48. > :33:52.reaching the quarterfinals. He had to pull out against Roger Federer in
:33:53. > :34:01.the quarterfinals. He went at Eastbourne but lost out in the
:34:02. > :34:07.opening round. -- to Eastbourne. If this were to go the distance... But
:34:08. > :34:22.he has never pulled back a situation like this this far down, his career.
:34:23. > :34:56.-- like this, this far down. That was a nice ball to hit.
:34:57. > :35:03.That was a graceful move from Wawrinka but not especially
:35:04. > :35:05.powerful. It would not surprise me if his body was not feeling in
:35:06. > :35:28.condition right now. He can handle a bit of pain, we know
:35:29. > :35:31.about his tattoo. Wawrinka. His trainer has been there the entire
:35:32. > :35:40.match. Yet to make an appearance on to the grass. And a to refit return
:35:41. > :35:47.from Lu. -- a great return. A number of those in the opening set. And he
:35:48. > :36:01.has a tattoo of his daughter's name, Alexia.
:36:02. > :37:02.He is looking for his second rate of serve in this match, Lu. -- break.
:37:03. > :37:17.It has been gifted to him. His Italian coach. He is delighted with
:37:18. > :37:27.that. He played very briefly on the tour in 1992.
:37:28. > :37:36.A journey such as this begins with little steps. But one of the more
:37:37. > :37:44.unusual moments in the match was the good cat chat -- catch. But the
:37:45. > :37:49.throw was not quite so opportune. Lu knew exactly what would happen. You
:37:50. > :37:57.can see the serve from Wawrinka was coming down. He was not entirely
:37:58. > :38:04.sure so -- that he was going to get a first serve again. He was
:38:05. > :38:09.checking, and that is what happened. He got himself out of a hole from
:38:10. > :38:17.the first game. Not so in the third. You could be excused. This guy had a
:38:18. > :38:23.yellow card. Now he has the red. He is on the phone! Injected from the
:38:24. > :38:30.building! How many sins for a spectator? That is at least two
:38:31. > :38:40.serious crimes committed by that man. He will be on Crimewatch. You
:38:41. > :38:42.could be excused for thinking Wawrinka was two sets to love down
:38:43. > :38:59.the way he started this third. Lu serving with the new balls. At
:39:00. > :39:03.super -- at two sets to love up, you must be thinking, let's get out of
:39:04. > :39:25.here. Wawrinka has done anything but.
:39:26. > :39:47.That is the problem for him. He was so good in that segment from the US
:39:48. > :39:51.Open to his crowning glory down under in Australia. He just seems to
:39:52. > :40:08.have lost a bit of rhythm. And it was always going to be a
:40:09. > :40:14.period of adjustment for the current World Number 3 after winning that
:40:15. > :40:19.title. It has been amazing how easily the big four have seemingly
:40:20. > :40:22.won major titles and handled the pressure to win multiple grand slam
:40:23. > :40:39.titles. It is who they are. They are serial
:40:40. > :40:44.winners. What is the big deal? I have always won, I am still always
:40:45. > :40:51.winning, so nothing has changed. For somebody like Stan who has had to
:40:52. > :41:00.fight his way up, you get vertigo. You think, this is a little
:41:01. > :41:05.uncomfortable. It takes time. That was the type of instinctive return
:41:06. > :41:11.we were seeing when he was playing at his absolute best. A nice change
:41:12. > :41:14.of play from Lu. If you are analysing the weight Wawrinka
:41:15. > :41:20.returns, you would think it was not a bad time to go for the serve and
:41:21. > :41:26.volley -- the way. He has seen him and he has picked him off. It is the
:41:27. > :41:27.second time Lu has broken the Wawrinka serve and dropped away
:41:28. > :41:55.straightaway. Difficult to pinpoint why that would
:41:56. > :42:00.be. Was it Lu choking? Did Wawrinka get a wake-up call and say, I need
:42:01. > :42:02.to play my best tennis now because if I do not, he will get away from
:42:03. > :42:50.me? Probably more the latter. A simplistic service game for
:42:51. > :43:09.Wawrinka. Maybe once in a while, Lu has shown
:43:10. > :43:16.a frailty. That last point, that return back. Wawrinka's forehand was
:43:17. > :43:22.not especially powerful. You would have thought Lu would be there but
:43:23. > :43:26.he had given up the ghost. So perhaps something is not quite right
:43:27. > :43:32.or he is a bit tired at the moment. He has had injury problems reading
:43:33. > :43:37.into this tournament. He is struggling just a little bit
:43:38. > :43:45.physically. Ash going into. He has not handled adversity in this match.
:43:46. > :43:48.-- going into this tournament. You can see how still stand keeps his
:43:49. > :44:26.head. -- Stan. He did deal with that massive
:44:27. > :44:33.adversity early in his life when he was 17. His Father passed away with
:44:34. > :44:36.a sudden heart attack. He left the game for a bit and he did not want
:44:37. > :44:41.to play, that is completely understandable. Then he decided it
:44:42. > :44:44.was his Father's dream to see his son break the top 100, which he did,
:44:45. > :45:09.in 2004. His dad used to chase chickens as a
:45:10. > :45:12.living and his son is trying to chase Wawrinka. I think his Father
:45:13. > :45:31.was a little more successful! He has had a good match, the umpire.
:45:32. > :45:55.He has had awkward moments he has handled very nicely.
:45:56. > :46:06.I wonder if Magnus Norman is warming his shoulder up in that box, waiting
:46:07. > :46:10.for the serving he will be doing over the next couple of days, to try
:46:11. > :46:13.to hone in his return that has been somewhat problematic for Wawrinka
:46:14. > :46:26.today. He has not timed it well. You can see those words on his
:46:27. > :46:29.T-shirt, the academy he has in Sweden. Sweden have been back on
:46:30. > :46:48.tour. Stephane Edberg. Who is he with?
:46:49. > :47:03.Some nobody, I think! I can't remember. So many great players
:47:04. > :47:06.coming back into tennis and he has proved to be one of the great
:47:07. > :47:15.players with his championship down under.
:47:16. > :47:51.UMPIRE: Mr Lu has two challenges. This is a man with such great foot
:47:52. > :47:54.speed but there has not been a priority to utilise that as best he
:47:55. > :47:59.can. He has much awaited dramatically
:48:00. > :48:04.from going for it, it seems he has had a clear game plan. There was a
:48:05. > :48:10.chance Wawrinka could have beaten himself. Absolutely, I am with you.
:48:11. > :48:55.I am not sure how well Lu has competed today.
:48:56. > :49:21.It is a good return. A pretty poor serve. Poorly placed, certainly.
:49:22. > :49:34.Wobbling again on serve. Wawrinka has had to hit over his ground
:49:35. > :49:39.strokes. Most of them. From difficult situations.
:49:40. > :49:56.Surprised he has not sometimes chosen to slide them back.
:49:57. > :50:03.Trying to stand his ground, Wawrinka. Did not retreat at all. Lu
:50:04. > :50:27.is very much on the advance. Make point. -- break point.
:50:28. > :50:36.Lu is hanging in mentally. Another visual illustration that for getting
:50:37. > :50:43.balls in court, Wawrinka is self destruct in. A gentle throw of the
:50:44. > :50:47.racket, it will not come with a warning. A lot of frustration for
:50:48. > :50:57.the Australian PM champion at his I wonder if Lu understands the
:50:58. > :51:03.Gravity. He is competing well and he wants to win this set, but it feels
:51:04. > :51:10.as though he could swing this match. Right now, if you somehow manages --
:51:11. > :51:16.if he somehow manages to maintain his advantage here. Wawrinka is not
:51:17. > :51:22.at all comfortable. He does not really appear to be having much fun
:51:23. > :51:27.at all and not timing the ball well at all, he is really struggling.
:51:28. > :51:33.Perhaps physically as well as emotionally. You can see, he is
:51:34. > :51:38.shaking his head, I do not know what is going on here. He has managed his
:51:39. > :51:43.tennis all right, 40 winners and 27 unforced errors. That has
:51:44. > :51:45.contributed to the situation he finds himself in, down a break in
:51:46. > :52:20.this third set. That is another unforced error.
:52:21. > :52:25.Talking about managing tennis, that is where Lu has not been so great.
:52:26. > :52:35.19 winners but 23 unforced errors. Four less than Wawrinka. You do not
:52:36. > :52:46.feel as though Lu, you feel he could have been in a more advantageous
:52:47. > :52:50.position. He is not quite in turmoil as yet, Wawrinka. But there is
:52:51. > :53:50.certainly a great deal of confusion within his mind.
:53:51. > :53:59.As a top player yourself, I am sure you have been in that situation. The
:54:00. > :54:03.expectation you put on yourself, how much does it hinder your performance
:54:04. > :54:22.when you do not hit the highs you are capable of? It is frustrating.
:54:23. > :54:32.And let's face it, Wawrinka is normally such a great athlete and it
:54:33. > :54:38.looks as though he is somewhat inhibited. And that in itself will
:54:39. > :54:43.be of great frustration, playing in front of all these people. He will
:54:44. > :54:53.want to show them what he can do. Viewing key maybe 70%, 80% of that.
:54:54. > :54:57.-- feeling he maybe. He is going through a down period right now. He
:54:58. > :55:15.is struggling just to hang in. Lu is buoyed by the success he has
:55:16. > :55:21.had in this third set and he suddenly finds himself with a couple
:55:22. > :55:31.of set points. That is a bit of a collapse from Wawrinka. Lu
:55:32. > :55:35.capitalises on it. We are going to leave this match on
:55:36. > :55:40.BBC Two but if you want to continue watching, it continues on the red
:55:41. > :55:45.button. One result, a match that was held
:55:46. > :55:49.over from yesterday. They finished at nine games all in the final set
:55:50. > :55:55.yesterday. Jo-Wilfried Tsonga against Sam Querrey. Jo-Wilfried
:55:56. > :56:03.Tsonga came through it 14 games against 12. They were on court three
:56:04. > :56:07.hours and 49 minutes. The crowd enjoying great entertainment, but
:56:08. > :56:13.that is what this man is about. He loves to entertain during and after
:56:14. > :56:19.the match. Popular around the world. Jo-Wilfried Tsonga. He is into the
:56:20. > :56:24.next round. So we are heading to Centre Court
:56:25. > :56:29.now to see the British number one Heather Watson in action against the
:56:30. > :56:33.ninth seed Angelique Kerber. Breaks of serve so far. Lindsay Davenport
:56:34. > :57:13.is alongside Nick Mullins. That is the best return we have seen
:57:14. > :57:17.from Heather, taking her chances. She has to do that when she sees
:57:18. > :57:36.second serves today. That is the first time either of
:57:37. > :57:37.these women has hung on to serve. Opening up just a little bit of
:57:38. > :58:12.daylight. It is tough to imagine Bastia when
:58:13. > :58:21.she was dealing with glandular fever, her dad was getting her out
:58:22. > :58:23.of bed each day. -- last year. Hard to imagine she would be here on
:58:24. > :59:27.Centre Court, centrestage. forehand. So tough to play against
:59:28. > :59:32.Kerber because she hits the ball is so close to the line and so low over
:59:33. > :59:36.the net. She does not miss often so you have to go for more on your own
:59:37. > :59:45.and ground strokes -- ground strokes.
:59:46. > :59:53.How well did she get over that? On her tip toes. It is the best
:59:54. > :59:59.backhand Watson has hit this match. She steps into the court and she
:00:00. > :00:03.transfers her weight inside, following the path of the ball. A
:00:04. > :01:00.bit more power on that backhand to get it passed Kerber.
:01:01. > :01:07.The air is pretty thin at this altitude. The German establishes a
:01:08. > :01:24.double break of serve. I know one of the things Heather
:01:25. > :01:28.Watson was saying to herself last week was that playing this new,
:01:29. > :01:32.aggressive game, adding more power to the shots, means you will hit
:01:33. > :01:36.more unforced errors, it is part of the deal she signed with herself.
:01:37. > :01:42.She just had to get used to that idea. Absolutely. You definitely
:01:43. > :01:46.incur more risk when you go for more on your shots. But you always want
:01:47. > :01:51.to try to make your weaknesses better. One of Heather's weaknesses
:01:52. > :01:57.was not being able to put a lot of pace on the shots, not putting them
:01:58. > :02:02.away. It is no different to a player that is not very quick. To do well,
:02:03. > :02:09.these days in women's tennis, you need to have some sort of finish, I
:02:10. > :02:12.have to applaud Heather Watson for coming out this year with a
:02:13. > :02:17.different mindset, trying to be a bit more aggressive.
:02:18. > :02:25.She needs to dig back at this Kerber serve fairly quickly. It is one of
:02:26. > :02:52.the German's weaknesses. Watson is colluding, that Kerber is
:02:53. > :02:56.not running to the open court, she is trying to cover behind herself
:02:57. > :03:07.and therefore an easy forehand for Watson to put away.
:03:08. > :03:14.It is a great mix from Kerber, she is so consistent with his shots, but
:03:15. > :04:02.as you said, she will unload on that forehand when she has time.
:04:03. > :04:19.Watson, the Argentinian. He helped inspire her to go big.
:04:20. > :04:33.From a German perspective... Ambitious Heather Watson is being
:04:34. > :04:40.handled very well. By their charge. Benjamin Ibrahim Zadie, her coach.
:04:41. > :04:51.APPLAUSE A nice first serve from Heather
:04:52. > :04:57.Watson. She has got to try to make more first serves in. She does not
:04:58. > :04:58.want to be caught trying to defend her second serve the majority of the
:04:59. > :05:23.time. UMPIRE: The ball was she looked up
:05:24. > :05:29.to her coach, he was not entirely sure. -- UMPIRE: The ball was called
:05:30. > :06:08.out. APPLAUSE
:06:09. > :06:15.There was that backhand at the line. Great job. With her left wrist in
:06:16. > :06:22.this last one. Just enough Kok to get that ball to curve in. -- just
:06:23. > :07:03.enough hook. APPLAUSE
:07:04. > :07:21.Much-needed morale boost. UMPIRE: New balls please. SUE
:07:22. > :07:27.BARKER: we are back to see Kerber serve for the first set. We saw
:07:28. > :07:32.Jo-Wilfried Tsonga win his match against Sam Querrey. It took in
:07:33. > :07:40.three hours and 49 minutes, held over from last night, an absolute
:07:41. > :07:45.thriller. Jimmy Wang next, how much do you know about you would draw?
:07:46. > :07:49.Have you played him before? Yes, when we were 14! It will be nice to
:07:50. > :08:05.play against him again. I want a chance to play a round of
:08:06. > :08:10.16 and we will see. The last year and a half or so, it seems like you
:08:11. > :08:13.are struggling to maintain a position you held, how tiring has it
:08:14. > :08:22.been to chase Andy Murray, Roger Federer, Djokovic and Nadal? It it
:08:23. > :08:30.is difficult. We do the same job but we do not really have the same
:08:31. > :08:38.rewards. They are just too good. We work hard. I hope I will have the
:08:39. > :08:45.chance to go through, but anyway, I will continue to play tennis, and
:08:46. > :08:49.give the best of myself. You certainly worked hard this week,
:08:50. > :08:55.congratulations. Thank you. SUE BARKER: we rejoin this with Kerber
:08:56. > :09:41.serving for the set. LINDSAY DAVENPORT: this is great
:09:42. > :09:46.hitting from Kerber, a similar player to Watson in terms of her
:09:47. > :09:50.consistency. But she has developed that weapon with the forehand and a
:09:51. > :09:54.few years ago, she did not have that finishing shot. She worked hard to
:09:55. > :10:19.get it. It is such a big weapon in her game.
:10:20. > :10:28.She did not accelerate there. Kerber has given her two double faults in
:10:29. > :10:54.this game and two easy unforced errors from Watson.
:10:55. > :11:02.Germany's number one strikes first against Britain's number one. SUE
:11:03. > :11:07.BARKER: looking very strong on Centre Court. One result to bring
:11:08. > :11:19.you from the ladies championship is that of last year's runner-up,
:11:20. > :11:20.seeded 19, this year, Lisicki is through and goes through to face Ana
:11:21. > :11:27.Ivanovic. seeded 19, this year, Lisicki is
:11:28. > :11:34.through and goes Tommy Robredo, so much experience, seeded 23, he is
:11:35. > :11:38.through against Adrian Mannarino. A straight sets victory but a tough
:11:39. > :11:47.one looms for him, either Lleyton Hewitt on last year's semifinalists,
:11:48. > :11:59.Jerzy Janowicz. Robredo, such battle on court and he through to the third
:12:00. > :12:03.round. Over on court 12, Andrea Petkovic has had a slip which is a
:12:04. > :12:14.shame and she has got the train on the court. 20th seed, 1-1. That
:12:15. > :12:19.happening on court 12. 6-4 to Petkovic and Begu taking the second.
:12:20. > :12:32.Let's rejoin Centre Court. UMPIRE: Second set, Miss Watson to
:12:33. > :12:40.serve. UMPIRE: Miss Watson put in a call,
:12:41. > :13:22.the ball was called out. Why a segment! -- by a segment.
:13:23. > :13:24.Great way to start the second set of, not just with an ace but her
:13:25. > :13:45.fastest serve of the match. UMPIRE: The ball was called in. It
:13:46. > :13:55.was initially called out. Overruled by the umpire. Heather Watson thinks
:13:56. > :13:58.it was out, hence the challenge. UMPIRE: Replay points. Miss Watson
:13:59. > :14:56.has two challenges remaining. Again, just pulling off her shots,
:14:57. > :15:01.Heather. Just wants to try finish going forward, not sideways, before
:15:02. > :15:21.you have made contact, before you have finished your follow-through.
:15:22. > :15:31.That is good hitting from Kerber. She has such a great sense of when
:15:32. > :15:34.she can go for more, when the right time is to make balls. And that big
:15:35. > :15:57.weapon, the forehand up the line. Again, the first serve, sets Watson
:15:58. > :16:02.up for the easy second shot and that is the shot that will have to
:16:03. > :16:03.improve today for her to have a chance. That
