:01:10. > :01:22.Job done for Andy Murray. And it is a welcome back to NSW 19. -- NSW 19.

:01:23. > :01:26.Andy Murray is up and running after beating Liam Broady yesterday in a

:01:27. > :01:29.Battle of Britain on Centre Court. The world number two advances and

:01:30. > :01:36.will be in action tomorrow but today the British crowd will be cheering

:01:37. > :01:40.on world number 772, Marcus Willis, as he faces Roger Federer in the

:01:41. > :01:47.ultimate David versus Goliath encounter. Federer has won seven

:01:48. > :01:49.titles here, Willis has won seven manages to get here, proving that

:01:50. > :02:03.sporting fairy tales really do come true. He has won ?238 on the

:02:04. > :02:12.professional circuit this year. I still live with my parents. I am

:02:13. > :02:23.living the dream. He is just a little bit better than me.

:02:24. > :02:29.I love this matchup. It could not be more different. I wonder how much

:02:30. > :02:33.this young man slipped last night, thinking of what is ahead. He is a

:02:34. > :02:37.leftie with a big heart and so far he has thrived on the big occasion

:02:38. > :02:42.but today he is on the bigger stage of all, they sing Roger. I wonder

:02:43. > :02:45.how the crowd will react. We guaranteed play on Centre Court

:02:46. > :02:49.because the roof is on and play gets underway at one o'clock but these

:02:50. > :02:53.are the scenes on the practice courts. No players getting any

:02:54. > :02:58.practice outside. All heading indoors to try to prepare for their

:02:59. > :03:02.managers as the covers are on. And the wind is blowing which can be

:03:03. > :03:06.good news because hopefully it will blow away this rain and maybe it

:03:07. > :03:10.will not blow in the next shower. Let's be positive, and have a look

:03:11. > :03:17.at the order of play. Certainly there will be play on Centre Court

:03:18. > :03:21.and first up is Radwanska, runner-up here in 2012, up against Kateryna

:03:22. > :03:29.Kozlova, playing in her first Wimbledon. Then Novak Djokavic is on

:03:30. > :03:32.May 29 winning match streak, up against birthday boy Adrian

:03:33. > :03:38.Mannarino, and then Roger Federer, seven time champion up against young

:03:39. > :03:43.Marcus Willis. -- Marcus Willis. Hopefully on Court Number One,

:03:44. > :03:50.Joanna Conte is a centre and 2-1 up against Monica Puig. And then Gregor

:03:51. > :03:57.Dimitrov, ranked as high as eighth, but now 37th in the rankings, is

:03:58. > :04:02.facing Gilles Simon. And then Milos Raonic is facing Andreas Seppi.

:04:03. > :04:07.Other matches we will be looking out for, 1-2 finish from yesterday,

:04:08. > :04:11.fanatical against Bernard Tomic. Dan Evans came through his man shall

:04:12. > :04:16.then we had a bad groin strain and needed painkillers. We hope he is

:04:17. > :04:21.fit and well for his match against Alexandr Dolgopolov. And then

:04:22. > :04:25.Heather Watson is due on at 11:30am, although that is now delayed, up

:04:26. > :04:31.against Annika Beck. And Petra Kvitova is up on Court 18. Hopefully

:04:32. > :04:40.we will get some play but it is not looking good at the moment. So we

:04:41. > :04:44.have retreated into the studio. Sam Smith, frustrating times for someone

:04:45. > :04:48.like Heather Watson, 11:30am on court and having to wait. Yes, but

:04:49. > :04:52.it is not a bad thing to be first up and ready to go. And remember the

:04:53. > :04:55.players have gone through the French Open, which was exactly like this.

:04:56. > :05:01.They have been a Nottingham, Edgbaston. And this has been pretty

:05:02. > :05:07.much the deal. But don't worry, they have the internet. I am not to bury

:05:08. > :05:13.-- too worried. Wonderful facilities here. Marcus Willis, let's talk

:05:14. > :05:16.about the story of the day. A fairy tale. He almost gave up at the

:05:17. > :05:19.beginning of the year and now here he is in the second round of

:05:20. > :05:25.Wimbledon playing Roger Federer. It is amazing when you think about the

:05:26. > :05:29.light could go on at any time. It should have gone on when he was ten

:05:30. > :05:33.or 11 or 12. He is extremely talented, and very gifted and he

:05:34. > :05:37.always has been. In the juniors, he was ill disciplined, that did not

:05:38. > :05:44.begin to sum it up. He was sent home from Australia, and he had ?10,000

:05:45. > :05:48.worth of funding withdrawn. He would swim out to a buoy in the sea and

:05:49. > :05:55.back again rather than be on a double scored. He would show up for

:05:56. > :05:58.matches without his racquet, and countless other things that we

:05:59. > :06:02.cannot even say here. Then he meets this wonderful woman, Jennifer, and

:06:03. > :06:05.she says, you are an idiot because you have this great talent, don't

:06:06. > :06:11.waste it. We need a good woman in lives. He has found one, and this is

:06:12. > :06:15.a lovely story. Today it is probably not going to go great but in terms

:06:16. > :06:18.of the scoreline, we have fallen in love with him and we like your

:06:19. > :06:23.story. After everything that is going on in the political world,

:06:24. > :06:29.with the England and Iceland game, we need Marcus Willis in our lives.

:06:30. > :06:40.He has given us something to shout about. He will be playing with Gary

:06:41. > :06:44.Henderson, at the Warwick boat club tomorrow, if you want to see him

:06:45. > :06:49.there. He says despite playing Federer on Centre Court today, he

:06:50. > :06:52.will be playing with Gary because they are only three points behind

:06:53. > :06:58.Hampton and Arden in the Coventry league. And he wants to win the

:06:59. > :07:03.Coventry league. So there we are. This guy is off the scale normal. I

:07:04. > :07:06.like him. I love him even more now. Andrew has given us so much

:07:07. > :07:19.background to that story but believe it or not, there is more. This story

:07:20. > :07:26.has Hollywood written all over it. I was a bit of a loser. I was

:07:27. > :07:37.overweight, I was just a loser. I just looked in the mirror and said,

:07:38. > :07:40.you are better than this. Tell us about the background to your story.

:07:41. > :07:47.Where were you at the beginning of this year? Not a very good place.

:07:48. > :07:51.Injured, not very happy. I was convinced I was going to go and

:07:52. > :07:55.coach either in America or England. And then I met a girl who told me I

:07:56. > :07:59.was being an idiot, in a nice way. We got to know each other and I

:08:00. > :08:05.said, don't go, give it another shot. Please don't go. It is an

:08:06. > :08:15.amazing story, this 25-year-old from Slough, this is his first-ever tour

:08:16. > :08:17.level match. Superb. What a glorious straightforwardness. He is

:08:18. > :08:23.continuing to enjoy the occasion. He has a lot of supporters here. If you

:08:24. > :08:32.sent of this script to Hollywood, they would reject it. Absolute dream

:08:33. > :08:39.stuff. What a way to close it out. Marcus Willis is into the second

:08:40. > :08:44.round of Wimbledon 2016 with a commanding victory. I am loving

:08:45. > :08:47.being here and I am loving my tennis again and that is the main thing. It

:08:48. > :08:54.is great to be on court and enjoying my tennis. Dream start here. It

:08:55. > :08:59.happened from me. You do not see stories like that often in tennis.

:09:00. > :09:03.It is nice, especially for it to be a British player doing it at

:09:04. > :09:07.Wimbledon. It is great. People will know about it and hear about it and

:09:08. > :09:12.naturally they will support him, and rightfully so because I think it is

:09:13. > :09:18.a cool story myself. It looks like you were going to be playing Roger

:09:19. > :09:22.Federer next. Which makes you laugh in disbelief. It is a big blur, and

:09:23. > :09:31.a great opportunity. It is what I have dreamt of. Have you ever spoken

:09:32. > :09:38.to him? I don't think I have, he was not at the juniors this year. I am

:09:39. > :09:47.sure it will hurt me at some stage. It is fleeting. -- you are floating.

:09:48. > :09:52.Carry on floating. It is wonderful. It is just the best story that I

:09:53. > :09:58.think we have had at Wimbledon. And also because we're so used to

:09:59. > :10:02.hearing of players from tennis families, and it becomes so terribly

:10:03. > :10:06.serious. But when you look at that, there has been a ten year gap from

:10:07. > :10:10.when he was a very good junior, one of the best in the world, to now,

:10:11. > :10:14.and it shows you how wrong things can go. Isn't it a shame that he

:10:15. > :10:19.just wasn't handled better. I know he was pretty difficult to deal

:10:20. > :10:24.with, from what I hear, but you need something about you to survive in

:10:25. > :10:32.this sport. And you need to be a bit of a rebel. But what a shame that he

:10:33. > :10:39.was not managed better than maybe he was, because so few people on this

:10:40. > :10:46.planet have the ability to be professional tennis players, and he

:10:47. > :10:49.obviously had it and it was just the matter of holding it. I hope he

:10:50. > :10:58.could have ten more years in the game. And women's tennis, they do a

:10:59. > :11:02.lot of mentoring. To put him with someone who was a bad boy himself, I

:11:03. > :11:10.am not looking at you, but someone who had been there, and could help

:11:11. > :11:16.him. I agree completely. I was doing William's match yesterday against

:11:17. > :11:20.Andy Murray and she is top hundred in the world. This is a girl who's

:11:21. > :11:24.funding was stopped, and I am not bashing the LTA, but at 17 she

:11:25. > :11:29.posted a silly picture from a nightclub, maybe she had had a drink

:11:30. > :11:33.or maybe she hadn't, but what 17-year-old doesn't go out and make

:11:34. > :11:36.mistakes? And she was thrown out. I am sure it was not the first thing

:11:37. > :11:41.that happened, but it struck me at the time as harsh treatment. Sam is

:11:42. > :11:47.saying, you need something about you. I agree. Look at her now, one

:11:48. > :11:52.of the feisty guest characters out there. Marcus, the same thing. What

:11:53. > :11:57.happened? Maybe he was impossible in some people are just like that and

:11:58. > :12:00.there is no chance, and you have to take personal responsibility. But

:12:01. > :12:04.what happens in the middle? Why was there not somebody that could take

:12:05. > :12:08.him by the Schruff of the neck? That is the downside. The upside is that

:12:09. > :12:16.it is his day and he is here now and Roger was asked what advantage he

:12:17. > :12:22.has, Marcus, and he said, well, he has 1320 matches of mine to look at,

:12:23. > :12:26.on TV, and I have only one of his. Apart from that, Willis has a strong

:12:27. > :12:30.serve and Federer will not fancy that. Marcus will be playing Dan

:12:31. > :12:40.Evans in round three! By the looks of things. Wouldn't that be so good?

:12:41. > :12:43.Two bad boys of British tennis. It is a wonderful story but two of his

:12:44. > :12:49.biggest supporters are here, and they are with us now.

:12:50. > :12:55.Two people who have been credited with helping marketers with the

:12:56. > :13:00.magnificent turnaround in his form. Jen Bates, it has been a whirlwind,

:13:01. > :13:06.I imagine, since Monday. Absolute madness. I cannot believe it is

:13:07. > :13:10.happening. I want to ask you about how he has taken it physically, the

:13:11. > :13:18.exertions of what happened on Monday. Bloody well, actually. I

:13:19. > :13:22.think the break in the order of play helped him out in qualifying. He had

:13:23. > :13:27.a massage yesterday, but nothing out of the ordinary. As he been quite

:13:28. > :13:33.normal since Monday? Has the phone been going nonstop? People trying to

:13:34. > :13:36.get tickets? It has been going on. We joked the other night that we

:13:37. > :13:39.just need to turn the phone is off because it was lighting up the room

:13:40. > :13:46.all night. Everything was buzzing constantly. It has changed a lot.

:13:47. > :13:50.And he has changed a lot since three years ago, when you started working

:13:51. > :13:55.together. People talk about the fact that he was a likeable bloke, a

:13:56. > :13:59.little bit overweight, not quite at his best, producing the goods that

:14:00. > :14:05.we thought he would do. What framework did you put in place for

:14:06. > :14:08.him to find his best? I think it was a lovable rogue, and he was not as

:14:09. > :14:12.professional as he could have been but he had a lot of superb

:14:13. > :14:15.attributes. There was a lot to work with, although people were saying

:14:16. > :14:20.that his attitude was bad, but he had a lot of stuff going for him. It

:14:21. > :14:25.was difficult, we had to get him into shape and trained really hard,

:14:26. > :14:29.giving his tactical framework more structure. We worked on his weapons

:14:30. > :14:33.quite a lot, and we have given him more of an encore identity. But it

:14:34. > :14:42.is not really rocket science, just training. Since Monday, there has

:14:43. > :14:47.been a lot of reports on how much training he has had to do, how much

:14:48. > :14:51.weight he had to lose. Give us more specifics? I took the approach, I

:14:52. > :14:54.did not ask him what he weighed when we first started, we disagreed that

:14:55. > :14:59.it was too much. What he had to do with me, he told me how much he was

:15:00. > :15:04.losing week by week. He kept a diary. And those numbers became

:15:05. > :15:10.almost a challenge. I could guess what he was, and it was too much,

:15:11. > :15:13.but we were really making a competitive trailing element of how

:15:14. > :15:21.much he could lose every week. -- competitive training. And then it

:15:22. > :15:24.became, the same weight but toned. And you are fairly normal when it

:15:25. > :15:28.comes to superstition, you do not pay much attention to that, until

:15:29. > :15:32.Monday. And now everything is a superstition? It is. If we are

:15:33. > :15:38.walking along the street and there is a signpost, we walk around it,

:15:39. > :15:41.and I have my lucky hat. And you were saying that it does not match

:15:42. > :15:45.your outfit but you do not care. I don't care. And what is the song

:15:46. > :15:52.that you are singing now together every day, as part of the Wimbledon

:15:53. > :15:58.routine? Play The Game, by Queen. And there is a message in that? Play

:15:59. > :16:03.the game, really. And who has made it into the box today on Centre

:16:04. > :16:07.Court? Family and friends. He has everyone there that he wants. All

:16:08. > :16:11.his family and friends. Thank you very much for your time. I hope

:16:12. > :16:17.today goes as well as it can. Best of luck.

:16:18. > :16:22.As you say, he obviously realised that he was overweight and he had

:16:23. > :16:25.not trained enough, and good on him for actually, three years ago,

:16:26. > :16:30.making that decision and turning it around, although he did threaten to

:16:31. > :16:34.quit earlier this year. There is a realisation, and how do you find

:16:35. > :16:39.that? It would've been a lot easier for him to have gone the coaching

:16:40. > :16:43.route, settle down and had a nice life. There is beastly a fire

:16:44. > :16:46.burning in there. I have not seen him play before and I thought he was

:16:47. > :16:51.enormously talented. And also a little bit different as well. There

:16:52. > :16:54.are a lot of players, more on the women's tour, who play a simmer

:16:55. > :17:00.away, but if you have something that is different, someone like Radek

:17:01. > :17:04.Stepanek, still going 37 with a very different game, that upsets a lot of

:17:05. > :17:07.players. But the nice thing is that we live in a world where there is a

:17:08. > :17:12.lot of media training. He has not been on that module and I hope he

:17:13. > :17:16.never goes on it because that is why, I have not met him and I

:17:17. > :17:22.already like him. That is a big positive. And I am reading that Jen

:17:23. > :17:31.has put on a bet for him to win Wimbledon. 3000-1, and he is eating

:17:32. > :17:39.the same meal every night because he is superstitious. Going around lamp

:17:40. > :17:44.posts, all that stuff? She sees fantastic, a lovely spirit, and Matt

:17:45. > :17:48.has done the work. And when he says that he has natural assets, that

:17:49. > :17:51.serve is ridiculous. It is all very well looking at him and thinking it

:17:52. > :17:55.is all good fun but I would not want to receive that serve on a grass

:17:56. > :18:02.court. And Centre Court is a different ball game. He was aided

:18:03. > :18:09.the weather. It was pouring down, and that aided him. And he has come

:18:10. > :18:15.through. You see the spirit, he will fancy this. Roger who? Does he have

:18:16. > :18:20.any weaknesses? That is what he was asking. Just to give Roger and the

:18:21. > :18:26.Centre Court crowd a flavour of what is to come, here is Marcus Willis'

:18:27. > :18:33.Barmy Army. If you want to be part of the Barmy Army, this is what you

:18:34. > :18:38.need to do. Number one, shoes off if you love Willis. Shoes off if you

:18:39. > :19:16.love Willis. Shoes off if you love Willis. Number two...

:19:17. > :19:56.There are no way -- there is no way these are coming off. That shows you

:19:57. > :19:59.how early universities break up before the exams. If you have

:20:00. > :20:05.tickets next to them at Centre Court today, good luck. It is lovely, just

:20:06. > :20:09.embracing this whole experience, the fact that everyone is getting behind

:20:10. > :20:14.the underdog. And I think it goes beyond tennis. There is a lot of

:20:15. > :20:19.other sports where things have just not panned out, and have gone

:20:20. > :20:23.horribly wrong, and you hit rock bottom. Marcus Willis gives everyone

:20:24. > :20:27.hope that if you pool its together, you can get something. I like the

:20:28. > :20:33.way the culture has gone about it, getting the right people around him.

:20:34. > :20:39.He has shown that literally anything is possible. I wonder what the odds

:20:40. > :20:42.were to Marcus Willis before prequalifying? None offered. That is

:20:43. > :20:47.why this has captured the imagination because he has gone from

:20:48. > :20:53.rock bottom to dreamland. And those fans, they are going to be singing,

:20:54. > :20:56.and I asked, how is the crowd going to react because normally Roger owns

:20:57. > :21:02.the crowd, even with Andy Murray. There is no way a Centre Court crowd

:21:03. > :21:06.will never cheer against Roger Federer. Roger has the tendency to

:21:07. > :21:12.enjoy it. If he gets the lead and start to mess about. Marcus plays a

:21:13. > :21:16.lot of drop volleys, moving in behind the backhand, with fiddly

:21:17. > :21:20.things going on, so the tennis will be quite interesting. Roger, the may

:21:21. > :21:23.never have been anybody better at absolutely dismantling people, all

:21:24. > :21:27.those little games, until Marcus Willis turns up on Centre Court

:21:28. > :21:31.because he can play those little things. In that way, the tennis will

:21:32. > :21:37.be interesting. It is a classic. The sun, he is all over the place today.

:21:38. > :21:41.If England had not gotten away with Roy Hodgson, Marcus would have been

:21:42. > :21:48.everywhere. But we are totally into the boy and we hope he does well. I

:21:49. > :21:52.tell you, if he gets to 3-3 or 4-4, you never know. The first few games

:21:53. > :21:56.will be key. We heard a little from Roger Federer before and let's hear

:21:57. > :21:59.more now from the seven time champion. This match is different.

:22:00. > :22:06.It has picked up on momentum. People will know about it and naturally

:22:07. > :22:11.they will support him and rightfully so, because I think it is a very

:22:12. > :22:15.cool story myself. It will make the match difficult. And I saw him play

:22:16. > :22:19.today and he plays well. It is not like he cannot play. Otherwise he

:22:20. > :22:24.would not be where he is. And he is serve and volley Inc, which I love

:22:25. > :22:30.to see. He came up with some great shots, and is to beat a guy of that

:22:31. > :22:38.calibre in straight sets, it shows you how good he is. Roger never

:22:39. > :22:45.takes anybody too easily, now look at him, 17 Wimbledon appearances and

:22:46. > :22:50.this is his first. Look at the bottom, ?73 million career prize

:22:51. > :22:55.money to ?71,000. I think that is the statistic that stands out. I

:22:56. > :22:59.just hope for Marcus, I don't know if the roof will be an, I guess it

:23:00. > :23:05.might be, but walking out onto Centre Court, the occasion, the aura

:23:06. > :23:10.of Roger Federer, until he gets out there he will not know what has it.

:23:11. > :23:14.Maybe he is such a relaxed guy that he will blow it off, but it will be

:23:15. > :23:19.pretty exceptional if he could do that. On the serious side of things,

:23:20. > :23:22.for Federer, although he is embracing the story he does not want

:23:23. > :23:27.a circus out there because the court is still quite soft. There has been

:23:28. > :23:33.a lot of rain and the conditions are still quite good for a player like

:23:34. > :23:38.Willis. He does not want to get to 3-3 or 4-4, he wants Marcus to feel

:23:39. > :23:41.the aura, to get uncomfortable. You would like to get an early break to

:23:42. > :23:45.calm things down because Centre Court can get out of control. I am

:23:46. > :23:50.still trying to come to terms with what you said when you said if it

:23:51. > :23:58.gets to 3-3 or 4-4, you never know what might happen. What do you mean?

:23:59. > :24:11.Are you thinking he could win this? Imagine this, Marcus Willis saved 19

:24:12. > :24:18.out of 20 break in his last game. He is called Willbomb if anyone is

:24:19. > :24:21.interested. On Twitter. Imagine if he keeps Roger guessing, and Roger

:24:22. > :24:29.does not quite have the love, and there is a joker down the other end

:24:30. > :24:34.to is -- should not be in the draw. Imagine if he wins the first set?

:24:35. > :24:42.Nestor City, Iceland, Willis, it all comes in threes. That is it. --

:24:43. > :24:52.Nestor City. What is likely is that he will lose 6-4, 6-2, 6-1. But

:24:53. > :25:00.imagine if he goes set up and Roger is offended. What was in your coffee

:25:01. > :25:11.this morning? I want a T-shirt made up. But we don't want it to be

:25:12. > :25:19.horrible idea. Whatever happens, it could be an paper one, one and one.

:25:20. > :25:23.That is what it should be on either edge of the spectrum. But you don't

:25:24. > :25:27.want it to give very quiet out there and you want to play well. You don't

:25:28. > :25:36.want it to be a horrible experience because that will crush the

:25:37. > :25:39.Willbomb. What was the other one, free Willy? I don't know. We will

:25:40. > :25:45.just have to see how it pans out. He needs to make a decent start. James

:25:46. > :25:49.Ward found it hard against Novak. Liam Broady lost his first server.

:25:50. > :25:52.Centre Court is different than that one out there. Even though that one

:25:53. > :25:56.idea is quite intimidating. We will see what happens. We have a minute

:25:57. > :26:00.now but I think I'm going to order one of your coffee is because I want

:26:01. > :26:05.that fairy tale flavour. It is a long day today and it feels like it

:26:06. > :26:08.is going to be a long day. And it could be a long day weather-wise

:26:09. > :26:14.because at the moment the covers are on. Although they are being brought

:26:15. > :26:17.down. But the roof is firmly shut on Centre Court and we know we are

:26:18. > :26:21.guaranteed play there from one o'clock. Roger Federer is third on

:26:22. > :26:25.Centre Court, that is late afternoon, but what is the weather

:26:26. > :26:28.going to do? Well, Carol Kirkwood predicted the rings are we sent out

:26:29. > :26:34.in it to deliver the weather forecast. And there she has. Still

:26:35. > :26:39.smiling. How long is this going to last? Much of today. It will be on

:26:40. > :26:45.and off but it is going to be on more than it is off. And it probably

:26:46. > :26:49.won't clear until about 6pm but even then, as it does clear, what you

:26:50. > :26:54.will find is that we will have a lot of cloud and it will be damp. There

:26:55. > :26:57.will be drizzle around. And it is blustery as well. In that

:26:58. > :27:01.combination, it feels cool. For tomorrow, we have got a weather

:27:02. > :27:05.front coming our way, starting off dry and bright, but we will see some

:27:06. > :27:10.showery outbreaks of rain as we had through the afternoon. This should

:27:11. > :27:14.not last too long. By Friday, back into sunshine and showers, so more

:27:15. > :27:17.dry weather around. And for Saturday, there is the risk of

:27:18. > :27:21.further showers and those could be thundery. A bit of an unsettled

:27:22. > :27:26.spell ahead but having said that, today looks like being the worst

:27:27. > :27:32.day. At least we're getting the worst over with. If you could just

:27:33. > :27:40.stay there, Carol will come to you every 15 minutes for and operate --

:27:41. > :27:43.for an update. Only joking! I think they had deflated the covers. You

:27:44. > :27:47.can see the ground staff scurrying around. That is certainly going to

:27:48. > :27:52.cheer up the punters who have queued through the night to get here. Some

:27:53. > :27:55.wonderful matches to be played on the outside courts. And there are

:27:56. > :27:59.still first-round matches to be completed. We are already in the

:28:00. > :28:02.third day. Hopeful that we will get some play and everybody will be

:28:03. > :28:07.hoping to see this man as well. Here he is, the man of the moment, Marcus

:28:08. > :28:14.Willis, making his way through. This is that around the park, so I wonder

:28:15. > :28:26.if they have taken the covers off here? Marcus, looking very relaxed.

:28:27. > :28:30.That is the way he always is. He tries to serve the way the other

:28:31. > :28:33.bloke is not going to be, plays to his strengths, and he has a big

:28:34. > :28:39.smile, so why not? This is the time of his life right now. He is also at

:28:40. > :28:45.Warwick boat club at the weekend, 3-4, playing an exhibition as well.

:28:46. > :28:51.He intends to honour that contract. He says he is going to be there so

:28:52. > :28:58.he is going to be there. You can get him to coach you for ?30 an hour. I

:28:59. > :29:07.knew his agent! -- are you his agent?!? It is one of the great

:29:08. > :29:10.stories. He will put his prices up after he beats Federer. Not the only

:29:11. > :29:25.Brit in action. Joe Anaconda started her match yesterday against Monica

:29:26. > :29:31.Puig. I watched them both last week, and I was thinking that this was

:29:32. > :29:39.dicey, because the big question hanging over the match was how would

:29:40. > :29:45.Jo deal with being the favourite? She was a wildcard last year but now

:29:46. > :29:51.she is in the big dressing room with all the superstars. And she looked

:29:52. > :29:55.two or three classes above Monica Puig. She is a strong player, and I

:29:56. > :30:01.would probably compare her to someone like Jennifer Capriati. And

:30:02. > :30:05.Jo served magnificently. It is not just the fact that she has a good

:30:06. > :30:09.delivery, and you are going to see it here, but her ground stroke looks

:30:10. > :30:14.so solid. A lot of players are saying that they are not reading her

:30:15. > :30:21.serve. They cannot pick it up first or second. In every department, she

:30:22. > :30:29.completely outplays them. The first couple of games in the second set,

:30:30. > :30:32.Puig brought it back. It may have helped her to come back, because

:30:33. > :30:36.Puig was struggling on the big court. She does not play a lot on

:30:37. > :30:40.the big courts but neither does Jo. The interesting thing about Jo is

:30:41. > :30:43.that she has always looked comfortable on the main stages. I

:30:44. > :30:49.don't know why that is. Maybe that is just self belief but that was a

:30:50. > :30:53.great start. If she can play at that level, she looks very good for a run

:30:54. > :30:56.here. And she proved that at the US Open and the Australian Open. But

:30:57. > :31:01.coming in here, with all the expectation, the first women's

:31:02. > :31:07.seeded since 1984, but no sign of nerves. -- woman seated. And she is

:31:08. > :31:12.extremely measured in her approach. Nice to have a routine. You do feel

:31:13. > :31:16.like if there is some pressure, you can rely on the routine. She goes

:31:17. > :31:22.through the same thing every time on the court between points. It is

:31:23. > :31:29.nicely relaxed. If you have some thing to rely on, and I remember Jim

:31:30. > :31:33.Coria saying that it would be 26 seconds between every point. She

:31:34. > :31:38.seems to have all of that. If somebody took that away from her,

:31:39. > :31:43.like Rafa Nadal would do with a bottle, that thing to rely on, if

:31:44. > :31:46.you took her out of that rhythm, that would be interesting. Because I

:31:47. > :31:50.think people are beginning to get to know her now and eventually the

:31:51. > :31:55.locker room will understand the strengths of her game, perhaps one

:31:56. > :31:57.or two weaknesses and things will change. But she looks very settled

:31:58. > :32:01.at the top of the game. I am surprised that it has happened like

:32:02. > :32:03.this and I am delighted as well. The light goes on and her

:32:04. > :32:13.professionalism is second to none. It is so hard to stay there, because

:32:14. > :32:17.the other players do start looking at the matches and working out

:32:18. > :32:21.different strategies. She is maybe going through that period at the

:32:22. > :32:25.moment, everyone recognises what great ground stroke she has. She is

:32:26. > :32:29.a fine athlete. What has been interesting issue has become, it has

:32:30. > :32:33.taken a while since the Australian Open, that breakthrough where she

:32:34. > :32:37.made the semifinals, which had us all stunned, but she was good for

:32:38. > :32:41.it, she played wonderful matches. She now looks con double whether

:32:42. > :32:48.change of status, and that is a big thing. She is seeing herself as a

:32:49. > :32:51.top 20 player, and everyone else is realising just how common this isn't

:32:52. > :32:59.a little fairy tale, because jazz backed up and backed up the results.

:33:00. > :33:03.For Jo, this is beginning, she is thinking about pushing towards the

:33:04. > :33:08.top ten, and the game is good enough, everyone is seeing how heavy

:33:09. > :33:15.she hates the ball. This is a continuation. What is interesting is

:33:16. > :33:20.she was always ranked around 140, that edges of the two, and I know

:33:21. > :33:24.what it is like to be left. The difficulty is, when you play the top

:33:25. > :33:29.players, you've looked up to them, not just for a couple of years,

:33:30. > :33:33.bought for five years, then when he played them, it is hard to believe

:33:34. > :33:38.in those big moments you can beat them. You've always seen yourself as

:33:39. > :33:42.to tears below them, and psychologically that is where I

:33:43. > :33:48.admire her, to get over that pump and beat Halep, Venus, as if she

:33:49. > :33:54.hadn't spent 45 years looking up to those players. That is a big jump.

:33:55. > :34:01.Semifinalist in a Grand Slam proved she can play on the big stage, it is

:34:02. > :34:05.the mental side, the belief. She has great serve, but we believe to be

:34:06. > :34:10.able to produce those shots on the big points. They're back and looks

:34:11. > :34:14.like it would break down, and of opponents start looking to identify

:34:15. > :34:19.a weakness, and I'm sure they are, beforehand may be the one that

:34:20. > :34:22.breaks down, but enough highlights package she was crushing the ball,

:34:23. > :34:28.so perhaps they have overplayed that. This is all about confidence,

:34:29. > :34:34.a sense of belief, belonging, but companies. When the light goes on,

:34:35. > :34:38.as with Marcus Willis, when it goes on, suddenly you can produce great

:34:39. > :34:44.tennis. There are semi-people who can do it, look at Liam Broady when

:34:45. > :34:53.he settled in, settle down. What is the difference between 200, 100? And

:34:54. > :34:57.the top 30. It is very little. Jo Konta, this is her time, she is

:34:58. > :35:03.seizing it. She looks like she will stay. I didn't see Eastbourne last

:35:04. > :35:08.week. She was emotional, wasn't she? I don't know what that was about.

:35:09. > :35:14.She did have an injury, but when the coach came on, because they are

:35:15. > :35:27.allowed on, he sat there and said, are you OK? She burst into tears.

:35:28. > :35:32.She was upset. It is not about her tennis, her game is set, it is the

:35:33. > :35:35.change in workload that has happened since the Australian Open, the

:35:36. > :35:40.change in status. The amount she has to do off the court, even though it

:35:41. > :35:45.looks very well-managed for her, she is about her tennis, but there are

:35:46. > :35:51.many more media commitments. Getting used to that. Because she is a local

:35:52. > :35:57.girl... We've seen it with other players. There is just not as much

:35:58. > :36:01.time, there's not as much downtime. The top players are so good at

:36:02. > :36:06.managing their energies and learning how to deal with it. Getting it all

:36:07. > :36:11.started in nicely, Jo has not had a lot of time. Many other top players

:36:12. > :36:16.have done it all through, they have been the best juniors, top ten, they

:36:17. > :36:19.haven't known anything else. Ten tee has gone from playing Challenger

:36:20. > :36:29.tennis, where there are two men and a goat watching you, to... I played

:36:30. > :36:32.that tournaments. To so much more attention. She had the media on

:36:33. > :36:39.Sunday, and there was a build-up, and it was good to let it out. I

:36:40. > :36:44.think it is over, she can settle in and have a really good run. It is

:36:45. > :36:47.one thing to get there, it is hard to stay there. We've seen it before

:36:48. > :37:01.with Moritz with getting to the final, Kerber -- Muguruza. Stan

:37:02. > :37:06.wasn't sharp on court, because the contract change, your background

:37:07. > :37:12.changes. The point about going home to Eastbourne, when you think of the

:37:13. > :37:16.history, via Australia, the sun trap of the South in Eastbourne, this is

:37:17. > :37:21.her going home for the first time as a player. To play in front of your

:37:22. > :37:26.friends and to go to your bedroom and for a walk, and to enjoy the

:37:27. > :37:32.wonderful landscape you grew up with, but you are a different

:37:33. > :37:36.person. I think it all builds up and then comes out. What a fantastic

:37:37. > :37:40.time for her now. She looks capable with the routine she has, although

:37:41. > :37:47.it is some of this, the ball bouncing. It is her world and she

:37:48. > :37:54.looks in control it. What ever works. Exactly, you can do a

:37:55. > :37:58.handstand. Jo will be hoping to be on court at 1pm, because the covers

:37:59. > :38:03.are coming off. They are off now, the wind is blowing. The good users,

:38:04. > :38:07.play will hopefully get underway as long as that next shower Carol was

:38:08. > :38:11.talking about is not moving quickly. One of the players we will be

:38:12. > :38:18.looking forward to seeing court 12 is Heather Watson. She was the girl

:38:19. > :38:25.of the moment last year. Hopefully she will be looking at that for

:38:26. > :38:30.inspiration. This is her on the practice court. She is able to get

:38:31. > :38:34.out, her feet on the grass prior to her match. She was scheduled

:38:35. > :38:37.yesterday, so it is a long wait, and she does not like waiting. She was

:38:38. > :38:41.out on the practice court. I talked about the match against Serena

:38:42. > :38:45.Williams last year, a wonderful match, she was just two points from

:38:46. > :38:48.winning. If she needs inspiration going into her opening match, she

:38:49. > :38:54.can the back to what happened 12 months ago.

:38:55. > :39:00.Good afternoon, everyone. Serena Williams, and her opponent today,

:39:01. > :39:07.Heather Watson. How ominous dishy love? She has got under the skin of

:39:08. > :39:11.the world number one. I don't think she has played a better point than

:39:12. > :39:20.that. I don't think he is part of the coaching team, but he ought to

:39:21. > :39:27.be. The bet that Guernsey can offer. This is beginning to assume epic

:39:28. > :39:32.proportions. There has been too huge swings of momentum. She's playing

:39:33. > :39:37.like Superwoman, and is a game away after two hours from knocking out

:39:38. > :39:41.Serena Williams. That is why she has won 21 Grand Slams. She will

:39:42. > :39:51.remember Heather Watson on this sunny Friday evening. When she was

:39:52. > :39:54.pushed right to the very edge. For me, that was the match of the

:39:55. > :39:58.tournament last year, Heather Watson against Serena Williams. And

:39:59. > :40:05.Heather. Her Wimbledon campaign on this court, court number 12, and she

:40:06. > :40:09.will take on Annika Beck of Germany. That is the first match for Heather.

:40:10. > :40:13.She will have two weight, because of the rain coming down. She can't be

:40:14. > :40:18.pleased to see the clouds roll in today. She will finally get her

:40:19. > :40:19.campaign underway, but as I mentioned, waiting is not favourite

:40:20. > :40:32.pastime. I have a lot of that in Birmingham,

:40:33. > :40:36.so I didn't get all the practice I wanted on the grass that because we

:40:37. > :40:41.had to play a few matches indoors. But that is the way it is, and even

:40:42. > :40:49.with that, if you're good and positive about how I am playing on

:40:50. > :40:56.the grass. Does altered your preparation? Do you you practice

:40:57. > :41:00.much? Yes, actually after a tournament like that, take a few

:41:01. > :41:04.days off to give my mind arrest, and when I do come back, I practice more

:41:05. > :41:09.than I usually would. Everybody talked about the Serena Williams

:41:10. > :41:14.match, it didn't end as you hoped, but it was the match of the

:41:15. > :41:19.tournament for many people. What can you take away from that? There are

:41:20. > :41:25.so many positives to take from that match. I has spoken about it a lot,

:41:26. > :41:31.I been asked about it a lot through the year and because it is Wimbledon

:41:32. > :41:35.again now. It was an unbelievable experience to play that much, it was

:41:36. > :41:42.the best support I'd ever had here at Wimbledon. And moments like that

:41:43. > :41:48.are ready special to me. I want more of them, that's why I play tennis

:41:49. > :41:53.and it gives me that buzz in life. But it did not end the way I wanted

:41:54. > :41:58.it to, but you know, if I get another chance, I would know how to

:41:59. > :42:04.handle it better. That is the thing, you have to learn from every loss.

:42:05. > :42:08.She was cross after that. There is a steal to Heather, you see it when

:42:09. > :42:15.she is playing. When she gets in the mood, she moves so fast around the

:42:16. > :42:20.court. She is on court 12, if we get on court 12, we need some

:42:21. > :42:24.floodlights, so dark. I was there watching her in her first round

:42:25. > :42:30.match last year against Caroline Garcia, a bit match, and she saved

:42:31. > :42:33.match points. She is a great fighter. She will keep on coming

:42:34. > :42:38.back. She does need one or two little bits to her game, she will do

:42:39. > :42:45.that work. I like the fact she is crossed that she lost, it wasn't a

:42:46. > :42:50.celebration for her. While we loved it, she was gutted. It has not moved

:42:51. > :42:58.on, we hoped she would move on from that match. Serena was saying she

:42:59. > :43:04.could go top 20, and she said she could go higher. I do think not

:43:05. > :43:08.winning that match, I know Serena did some extraordinary things to

:43:09. > :43:12.extricate herself from that contest, but not winning that match hurt

:43:13. > :43:17.Heather. Psychologically, and also a few things happened, she split from

:43:18. > :43:23.her coach, because he was moving back to Argentina. It was a

:43:24. > :43:28.geography thing. She split from him not long after. She didn't rehab a

:43:29. > :43:32.particularly good end to the year and has had to read set at the start

:43:33. > :43:39.of this year will stop she has won a title this year, but the thing with

:43:40. > :43:42.Heather is she was trying to go from a counterpuncher that run a lot of

:43:43. > :43:47.balls down to a more aggressive player and was midway through that

:43:48. > :43:51.journey. If she had won that match, it would have been of that is the

:43:52. > :43:57.way she has to go because she played much more aggressively. I remember

:43:58. > :44:08.watching this, we will all sap the because she was so close. -- we were

:44:09. > :44:12.all sat there. I'm guessing it is on track. She has almost come back from

:44:13. > :44:16.that and is not playing as aggressively now as she was 12

:44:17. > :44:21.months ago. Certainly the way to Heather to get into the top 20, she

:44:22. > :44:25.has the potential, a brilliant athlete, she seems be playing

:44:26. > :44:35.carefully on the court. That does not, for me, seem to be the way to

:44:36. > :44:41.get into the ranking. It is so easy to revert back to your type when

:44:42. > :44:44.things go wrong. If she feels like she can counterpunch, that is what

:44:45. > :44:48.she will do. Andy Murray has two step up, and that is what Lendl

:44:49. > :44:53.does, but it is easier said than done. I'm sure they tried to add

:44:54. > :44:58.aggression to the game and a bit of pop on the ground strokes. There is

:44:59. > :45:06.no future into the top ten, top 20 if you are just going to dig trench

:45:07. > :45:10.on the baseline and prowl around. She does have super defence, you

:45:11. > :45:15.have to have that aggressive game. A couple of years ago she added a few

:45:16. > :45:22.miles an hour to her first serve. You added to your second serve. You

:45:23. > :45:27.can lose belief in what you are doing. It is very hard. Even a

:45:28. > :45:34.slight change of grep can take a while to put into her game, and then

:45:35. > :45:38.you have do take it onto the court. It takes a constant effort, but I

:45:39. > :45:42.believe she is a potential top 20 player. I would love to see Laura

:45:43. > :45:50.Robson back. I always think of Laura when I see Heather. They have met

:45:51. > :45:55.once before, here and Annika Beck. When was that? Was that same

:45:56. > :46:07.tournament with the goat? Shrews bree. John McEnroe was talking about

:46:08. > :46:11.a -- Shrewsbury. He was talking about places that are difficult to

:46:12. > :46:24.announce. He was talking about Norwich. High Wycombe got mentioned,

:46:25. > :46:33.it is ridiculous. I got told off on twitter. Somebody... If there is

:46:34. > :46:42.anyone from Shrewsbury, can you confirm how to pronounce it. Someone

:46:43. > :46:45.told me but getting it wrong myself. I've been calling it that for so

:46:46. > :47:03.long. Clacton is straightforward. Moving

:47:04. > :47:09.on, British players, yesterday was a wonderful win for Tara Moore, and

:47:10. > :47:14.this is how she finished the match. She has played three times at

:47:15. > :47:20.Wimbledon, this is her first ever victory. Rate scenes on this court.

:47:21. > :47:26.Huge affection for all British players. That is what it means, she

:47:27. > :47:34.is a feisty character. Jeremy doesn't look too happy. Jeremy never

:47:35. > :47:40.looks happy. She has lost a few 7-5, so she has had some big reversals.

:47:41. > :47:45.For her to win a match, and her ranking has gone down, they hope to

:47:46. > :47:49.see her go in the right direction, because she's a great striker, but

:47:50. > :47:55.this has got in the way. We all mature at different times. In what

:47:56. > :48:00.respect? Not doing the right tactics? Sometimes discipline. It is

:48:01. > :48:05.well known that she is a great girl but sometimes there is the court

:48:06. > :48:14.things in the way, a case of discipline. Some players... Issue

:48:15. > :48:20.the Marcus Willis... No, she isn't. What Jeremy has tried to do, what

:48:21. > :48:24.you struggled with is putting in the daily work day in, day out. She

:48:25. > :48:27.would get to Monday, Tuesday and lose concentration on the Wednesday.

:48:28. > :48:33.You can't do that because that is what it is being a professional,

:48:34. > :48:37.they can put in those four or five hours, do the repetition and boring

:48:38. > :48:41.stuff, all of your training and things you need to do, and she found

:48:42. > :48:47.that difficult. She has enormous talent, she is a great ball striker,

:48:48. > :48:52.she has a lot about her. She has the potential to be top 50 in she can

:48:53. > :48:57.get the mental side and training behind her. It is the interesting

:48:58. > :49:04.characters again, the Wandsworth something about them, not the one to

:49:05. > :49:08.smile at everybody and wish to engage in a popularity contest. It

:49:09. > :49:13.is people like Pat Rafter and Leyton Hewitt. You have do have that about

:49:14. > :49:24.sheep. With Tara, wasn't she involved with a scrap with someone

:49:25. > :49:29.-- about you. Good, you want a bit of that, you have do have it, you

:49:30. > :49:38.have to be a strong character. You had it. Did I? You have to be tough

:49:39. > :49:43.to survive. We had to leave the LTA and do all that. It is a hard world.

:49:44. > :49:47.Hopefully as far as Tara is concerned, that victory will show

:49:48. > :49:51.her it is worthwhile putting in the hard work of the court. She

:49:52. > :49:58.celebrated her first Wimbledon victory, and she spoke to us. First

:49:59. > :50:05.win at Wilmott in and Grand Slam, how proud you? I've put in a lot of

:50:06. > :50:09.hard work, it is paying off -- Wimbledon. It's been a long road,

:50:10. > :50:15.but I am happy and my team is happy. It has been a good day. A few

:50:16. > :50:19.British people making their names for themselves, we saw Marcus and

:50:20. > :50:25.Dan doing so well. Did that inspire you? Yes, all others are close and

:50:26. > :50:31.we've grown up together. We've been supportive. Willis doing great,

:50:32. > :50:35.Evans doing great, all the rest of them, hopefully they can pull

:50:36. > :50:43.through today. We are all supportive and rooting for each other. At not

:50:44. > :50:49.winning -- Nottingham you talked about winning. Where does it set you

:50:50. > :50:56.up in the big picture? Wimbledon is one of the best tournaments, and

:50:57. > :51:00.being a Grand Slam, it is great. I think there's a lot of hard work to

:51:01. > :51:07.be done, and I will play every match as it is and try and have a good

:51:08. > :51:11.time. We try to find out more about the new faces here, although you

:51:12. > :51:20.want that new. You are a Manchester United fan. For your sins. Did you

:51:21. > :51:29.watch the football stud? I did. You can never, you can never say yes or

:51:30. > :51:35.no a sports, and as long as airborne bull everyone is trying, what can

:51:36. > :51:42.you do? It is tough luck -- as long as everyone. Hopefully everyone can

:51:43. > :51:54.pick their spirits up. Are you happy with Marine -- Jose Mourinho? We

:51:55. > :52:03.will see. Now you are through, you have Wozniacki or Svetlana

:52:04. > :52:07.Kuznetsova. What about that prospect? It is great, I can't wait.

:52:08. > :52:14.Every match is a experience, and that is what my dreamers. The play

:52:15. > :52:19.tennis for that reason. I think Wimbledon is one of those, and I

:52:20. > :52:28.want to be there. Centre Court, your theatre of dreams. Best of luck.

:52:29. > :52:33.Thank you so much. Kuznetsova, she has to believe in that much. She

:52:34. > :52:39.will enjoy it, because they had the cover of the ball. But she is a

:52:40. > :52:44.two-time Grand Slam champion, hasn't been at her best, but has come back

:52:45. > :52:49.strongly. I watch her play Wozniacki on Centre Court, and she is heading

:52:50. > :52:53.the ball as well as ever and is as motivated as I've seen her in years.

:52:54. > :53:00.Tara goes in there as a big underdog but will like the big 4-macro strike

:53:01. > :53:07.of the match. She can open her shoulders and show what she can do.

:53:08. > :53:10.Svetlana won't know about her. For a lot of British players, it is

:53:11. > :53:16.getting over that line for your first Wimbledon win. Because they

:53:17. > :53:21.are giving a wildcard, and lower, but this will give her so much

:53:22. > :53:26.believe having that wind behind. And she has so many shots to choose

:53:27. > :53:32.from. The older she gets, the more she understands. I was watching her,

:53:33. > :53:40.she can balloon the ball out. You might want to change your game plan

:53:41. > :53:44.against her, because she won't mind going head-to-head with somebody

:53:45. > :53:49.like that. The big court occasion will be a factor. That is a

:53:50. > :53:57.fascinating match. You make a good point about getting that first

:53:58. > :54:01.point. Carl Edmond, this is his fourth appearance, we know he is

:54:02. > :54:09.good. He proved that at Queen's Club. He got up to his highest

:54:10. > :54:15.ranking. He almost won it on his debut at the Davis Cup, but hasn't

:54:16. > :54:19.won at Wimbledon. You know next year he will be thinking, why can't I do

:54:20. > :54:25.it here? That is four times. He's had some rock draws, and this time

:54:26. > :54:36.among Reno who is playing Djokovic. Top drawers. It does wear you down

:54:37. > :54:41.-- Mannarino. We have good signs, there are signs of people on white

:54:42. > :54:45.binders. They are on court, players on court. This will be the court we

:54:46. > :54:50.are going to, because Heather Watson has made her way out to face Annika

:54:51. > :54:55.Beck. Heather finally the wait is over, she is on court and read hope

:54:56. > :55:00.though showers Carol talked about will be a long way away, and we will

:55:01. > :55:03.get plenty of tennis. One person who won't care about the weather is Andy

:55:04. > :55:07.Murray, because he was on Centre Court and got his first win, and

:55:08. > :55:21.after the match, he spoke to John Inverdale. Job done for Andy Murray.

:55:22. > :55:28.It is a welcome back. Once you have one round up the way in the second

:55:29. > :55:32.match, do you feel different that you're in the tournament? Yes, the

:55:33. > :55:36.first match is always a bit difficult, but once I get on the

:55:37. > :55:41.court and get through the first match and start to settle down and

:55:42. > :55:46.feel I'm in the tournament. I'm glad I got through it quickly. How easy

:55:47. > :55:50.do you find it did take each game as it comes Chris Mark the more you

:55:51. > :55:54.tell yourself not to think about something, the more you think about

:55:55. > :56:00.it. It is how you deal with that. I am able to now, when I am thinking

:56:01. > :56:06.about it, I can put it to one side. I used to look ahead a lot more than

:56:07. > :56:11.I do now and think a lot about it, whereas it is just a thought that

:56:12. > :56:15.comes into my head. I can move on from it quickly. Your opponent in

:56:16. > :56:20.the second round is a good player, but he is used to winning. Is that a

:56:21. > :56:26.difficult opponent on that basis alone? He has played well here in

:56:27. > :56:31.the past, he has made quarters once, and he beat Andy Roddick. He has won

:56:32. > :56:38.a couple of challenges on the grass. He is on a 11 match win streak. He

:56:39. > :56:46.is very experienced as well. It will be a tough match. What areas of your

:56:47. > :56:50.game can be tweaked, improved in the second round? I can move a bit

:56:51. > :56:56.better, which improves my defence, I didn't offend as well in the first

:56:57. > :57:00.match, as I would have liked. That is the one thing I would like to

:57:01. > :57:07.deal with better, because I think I served well, I was hitting the ball

:57:08. > :57:12.clearly, which is good. When you walk on Centre Court, is there still

:57:13. > :57:19.an aura about it which Mark it is special still, every year I think,

:57:20. > :57:24.the difference is at the other major event you get to practice on the

:57:25. > :57:29.main court before you start, so when you get out that you are used to it.

:57:30. > :57:35.But at Wimbledon you don't, the first time you step but on the court

:57:36. > :57:39.each year you are going out to play a match. It takes a bit of time to

:57:40. > :57:43.get used to the surroundings, the atmosphere, the way the court is

:57:44. > :57:50.playing because Centre Court is a lot newer than the ones we practice

:57:51. > :57:59.on. It is a lot fresher, said that changes the way it plays. It is

:58:00. > :58:02.always special. Yes, they will never allow practice on the hallowed turf

:58:03. > :58:06.of Centre Court, which is firmly covered at the moment, the roof is

:58:07. > :58:15.on, play not getting underway until 1pm, soap safety -- so safety if

:58:16. > :58:20.rain comes. We are guaranteed a match regardless of the weather.

:58:21. > :58:24.Interesting about talking about... You know the players not want to

:58:25. > :58:29.peak too early, but talking about what he needs to improve in his

:58:30. > :58:34.movement. He needs to move quite well already. He is dealing with

:58:35. > :58:39.edge and he knows how to go all the way. He is looking to hit certain

:58:40. > :58:44.targets and certain points. He knows himself, so all the top players seem

:58:45. > :58:49.to know everything about themselves. Andy is amazing, what he knows about

:58:50. > :58:53.other players, not just his opponents. He could tell you so much

:58:54. > :59:03.more about women's tennis than most of the women pros. His recall of

:59:04. > :59:08.matches is in the desert -- is immaculate. I hope Lendl will be on

:59:09. > :59:14.his toes. We say bringing Lendl in gives Andy and edge, I think they

:59:15. > :59:19.are both pushing each other. Andy is so analytical about everything he

:59:20. > :59:24.does. Not afraid to talk about, just saying, this is what I need to do.

:59:25. > :59:28.I'm sure he will have that recall analysis after every single match

:59:29. > :59:33.because he knows. He is a great tactician, and you can see him

:59:34. > :59:38.making changes in the match. He changes his game, the position where

:59:39. > :59:40.he is serving. He does that against the likes of Lee and Brody. He knew

:59:41. > :59:54.he would win -- Lee and his confidence is there, he is

:59:55. > :00:00.playing for Ivan Lendl. Watching him up close on centre, it strikes me he

:00:01. > :00:05.is leaning on that backhand side. He is crunching his backhand. If you

:00:06. > :00:08.could hear it, in real life it is extraordinary. He is hitting it

:00:09. > :00:15.hard, he is staying closer to the baseline. Which is what he did with

:00:16. > :00:18.Lendl before. It is so obvious, he never misses a backhand stop it is

:00:19. > :00:25.like brain Djokovic, he won't miss that backhand. Very rarely he will

:00:26. > :00:32.miss. Beforehand, he is hitting that even harder. There is a glint in the

:00:33. > :00:37.eye for Andy Murray this year. This is probably his best chance on

:00:38. > :00:43.grass. He has never lost a set to Djokovic on grass. Bad that in mind.

:00:44. > :00:55.Here is another question. -- bear that in mind. If we were ever doing

:00:56. > :01:00.a quiz... Oh, you do a quiz. He hadn't played on Centre Court when

:01:01. > :01:08.he got to the final. Trying to catch me out. It is nice to do this. I

:01:09. > :01:14.wouldn't do that to you. Broad shoulders. He has got Andy Murray

:01:15. > :01:15.beating Djokovic and not dropping a set and has Marcus Willis beating

:01:16. > :01:30.Roger Federer in straight sets. He says he's going to try to play a

:01:31. > :01:35.match, the same courts, the same size. In a way, don't be fooled by

:01:36. > :01:40.the look, this guy is a gifted player. He would not be here

:01:41. > :01:44.otherwise. While we are having fun, he is actually very good. He is a

:01:45. > :01:48.great ball striker. He will be on Centre Court later on but we are

:01:49. > :01:54.heading out to court 12. Other options are available. If you want

:01:55. > :01:59.to watch Court Number Two, Bernard Tomic, the number 19 seed up against

:02:00. > :02:05.Fernando Verdasco, they are going to play the fifth and final set. He was

:02:06. > :02:10.glad the rain came down yesterday because he was struggling with

:02:11. > :02:15.fatigue. It is a one set shoot out for them today. But we are setting

:02:16. > :02:19.off to Heather Watson against Annika Beck. And they are just getting

:02:20. > :02:27.underway. Very similar players, these two. Heather would prefer to

:02:28. > :02:35.have a bigger ball striker but they are very similar rankings, very

:02:36. > :02:39.similar careers. Heather won last time but I imagine it will be

:02:40. > :02:42.super-tight, this contest. Let's enjoy the tennis while we have it

:02:43. > :02:49.with John Inverdale and John Durie -- Jo Durie.

:02:50. > :02:52.Often running, as you can see. I'm sure some of the British players

:02:53. > :02:57.looked at the draw last week and thought, thanks a bunch. Heather

:02:58. > :03:08.Watson must've thought this was very winnable. As Sam was saying, close

:03:09. > :03:13.to each other in the rankings, just 12 places between them. One of those

:03:14. > :03:21.matches what you have to seize the moment. How are you, and Puig? A

:03:22. > :03:38.little cold but I'm glad we are off and running. -- how are you Jo. It

:03:39. > :03:46.is a breezy day, and you are looking at the 90 frock that is prevalent

:03:47. > :03:50.across the grass courts this year. Which Jo has strong opinions about.

:03:51. > :03:53.I am worried for Beck because it blows up everywhere. If you have a

:03:54. > :03:58.double handed backhand, you can get your hand caught in it. If I had the

:03:59. > :04:00.choice between that and the skirt and top, I would go with the other

:04:01. > :04:42.one. Heather Watson off the mark. They

:04:43. > :04:51.are very similar in the way they play, both have improved their

:04:52. > :05:00.serves over the years, but second serves, very a taxable. --

:05:01. > :05:25.attackable. We saw a couple of times during that

:05:26. > :05:28.rally how the wind could be a major factor in this match. Every time you

:05:29. > :05:34.look at the camera behind the server, will see the sapling elms at

:05:35. > :05:42.the far end of the court, really gusting in the breeze at the moment.

:05:43. > :05:50.And there they are, the three at the back. Ostensibly, their role is to

:05:51. > :06:03.conceal the Hawk-Eye camera is at the far end of the court.

:06:04. > :06:11.That is an encouraging start for Heather. She likes a little bit more

:06:12. > :06:22.pace going at her so that she can counterattack of it. And there are

:06:23. > :06:45.the trees. Good, positive play from Watson.

:06:46. > :06:49.Heather really knows what she's doing around the net. Any short ball

:06:50. > :06:53.at the moment, she is going to come in off it. But you have to keep

:06:54. > :07:10.moving because the wind is going to be that all around.

:07:11. > :07:17.Shame, because the wind took that. You and I work at Eastbourne last

:07:18. > :07:22.weekend and the thing about tennis at the seaside, by and large the

:07:23. > :07:31.wind is either heading off the sea or towards the sea but this is all

:07:32. > :07:46.over the place. Very tricky. And there will be a few of those today.

:07:47. > :07:52.Three powerful forehands from Heather Watson already in this game.

:07:53. > :08:00.It already looks as though she's going to be hitting down the lines.

:08:01. > :08:24.And it is working so far. A stressful opening game.

:08:25. > :08:28.An opening break opportunity for Heather Watson in this first game on

:08:29. > :08:59.court 12. She had worked it so well until the

:09:00. > :09:13.last moment. I don't know what this is about. Taking her time, that is

:09:14. > :09:19.for sure. Getting the towel. Whips. And that was an indication of the

:09:20. > :09:25.wind as well, it did not carry to the ball boy. And I think that

:09:26. > :09:36.showed that the wind is blowing down court towards this end.

:09:37. > :09:44.As that last shot may have indicated. You have to be clever

:09:45. > :09:53.enough to use the wind. After a couple of games, they will both be

:09:54. > :10:01.used to it. Would you rather play with or against the wind? Against

:10:02. > :10:09.it. I used to like to hit against it. Disappointing for Heather in the

:10:10. > :10:23.end. Relief for the German. Heather got to the third round here,

:10:24. > :10:26.and this is the seventh time she has played at Wimbledon but I suspect

:10:27. > :10:32.one match that people will always remember her for was that so near

:10:33. > :10:37.yet so far moment against Serena Williams last year I saw in a

:10:38. > :10:40.preview interview she said that she had not actually got over that yet.

:10:41. > :10:49.I was surprised to see a professional athlete still allowing

:10:50. > :10:54.the moment of potential glory to cloud the next 12 months of their

:10:55. > :10:59.career. I was also surprised. All year later, she has won a

:11:00. > :11:07.tournament, and her career is ongoing. She is only 24. There is

:11:08. > :11:20.Jeremy Bates, wrapped up with his nice waterproof.

:11:21. > :11:26.That is twice that Beck's response to a drop shot has been a lob. And

:11:27. > :12:11.on both occasions it was not very effective.

:12:12. > :12:18.During that rally, you could see everybody being cautiously

:12:19. > :12:25.aggressive. We may have mentioned the trees a few times but the one on

:12:26. > :12:32.the far end, there is one bit that is almost bent over double. And that

:12:33. > :12:36.shows you how strong the windows. And it is exhausting playing in wind

:12:37. > :12:45.like this, constantly reassessing your shots and your footwork. Good

:12:46. > :12:50.server. The first ace. Nice to get an easy point, I think most of these

:12:51. > :13:08.points are going to be long and hard rallies.

:13:09. > :13:14.And neither player is going to be going for the Lions to much year

:13:15. > :13:21.because the risk factor is huge. You have got over the margin of error

:13:22. > :13:23.bringing it two or three clear. You have to hope the wind moves it

:13:24. > :13:53.around a little bit more. An impressive first service game

:13:54. > :13:59.from Heather. The City of London in the distance there, shrouded on a

:14:00. > :14:16.grey, grisly day at the height of summer. What summer?

:14:17. > :14:26.Will worked by Heather. I think what will be more capable of coming to

:14:27. > :14:31.the net than her opponent but these logs are not working for Beck so

:14:32. > :14:39.far. And that is when the wind is a big factor. If I headed remotely to

:14:40. > :14:50.hard into the wind, it will fly to the back netting, and vice versa.

:14:51. > :14:58.They have talked about the drop shot. Especially when you're going

:14:59. > :14:59.into the wind, because Heather is very good at playing those type of

:15:00. > :15:25.shots. This game should have taken last

:15:26. > :15:28.night, one of those frustrating but endless stoppages players have had

:15:29. > :15:33.to endure over the last few weeks, whether it was in Paris, Eastbourne,

:15:34. > :15:37.Edgbaston, wherever it has been. Over the last six or seven weeks,

:15:38. > :15:40.everybody has been saying, OK, we're going to have a long time hanging

:15:41. > :15:50.around because the weather has been against us from start to finish. I

:15:51. > :15:55.was a little surprised by Watson after Eastbourne saying she was fed

:15:56. > :15:57.up with the rain. You have to be strong and tough and think, I will

:15:58. > :16:09.deal with it better than my opponent.

:16:10. > :16:53.Her mum, Michelle, watching. Wrapped up.

:16:54. > :17:08.And he wanted. -- just the start that Heather wanted. If you are

:17:09. > :17:13.wondering where court 12 years, we are effectively looking at that at

:17:14. > :17:18.five o'clock on your screen, that is caught two on the right, a much

:17:19. > :17:22.bigger grandstand. I think it is Domenech and Verdasco finishing

:17:23. > :17:26.things off there. And a roof is on Centre Court. I felt a lot of

:17:27. > :17:29.sympathy for Heather, who got a bit of stick for saying she was fed up

:17:30. > :17:33.with the rain because it is the perennial problem when you go into a

:17:34. > :17:36.press conference after a match, if you don't say anything remotely

:17:37. > :17:41.interesting, everybody says how boring you are. So if you answer a

:17:42. > :17:47.question honestly, people criticise you for answering it honestly. She

:17:48. > :17:50.was asked the question, what is it like and she said, I get really fed

:17:51. > :17:56.up with the stoppages. And she was criticised. I know what you're

:17:57. > :17:59.saying but I am afraid when you saw her play, it did not look like she

:18:00. > :18:03.was fed up with the rain. That is the only thing I would say. Don't

:18:04. > :18:09.show it to your opponent court. Radically fine to say it afterwards.

:18:10. > :18:15.UMPIRE: Ladies and gentlemen, the match is suspended. Shame. I did not

:18:16. > :18:20.think it was raining. Nobody has an umbrella up or anything. It is just

:18:21. > :18:24.gloomy, but no more gloomier than earlier. And they are still playing

:18:25. > :18:34.on the other courts as far as we can see. There is obviously some

:18:35. > :18:37.spitting in the air. Perhaps worth saying that if you are going to have

:18:38. > :18:44.a break, Heather goes off to the locker room a lot happier than

:18:45. > :18:48.Annika Beck. I think Annika Beck will be pleased to get off the

:18:49. > :18:53.court, to go and have a word with her coach. But a good start by

:18:54. > :18:58.Heather Watson. And that is it from us after a quarter of an hour. They

:18:59. > :19:03.are playing everywhere else but not here.

:19:04. > :19:08.And caught Weld is one of the last to stop playing because right in the

:19:09. > :19:17.back of Wimbledon, the covers went on a few minutes ago. Still playing

:19:18. > :19:26.on Court Number Two. But if we go out to the other side of... I was

:19:27. > :19:29.about to take you around the other side of Centre Court but we are

:19:30. > :19:35.going to go to court 18, which is still in play, where Tomas Berdych

:19:36. > :20:00.is serving for the match against Ivan Dodig. Let's join that match.

:20:01. > :20:04.Dodig cramping up, with the body server. That brings up match point

:20:05. > :20:46.for the first time. Well played. Berdych down. But

:20:47. > :20:51.back-up. It is always worrying when you see this kind of slip at the

:20:52. > :20:54.back of the court. The grass is still fairly lush, it is the start

:20:55. > :20:56.of play on day three of The Championships but rain in the air,

:20:57. > :21:42.and a little bit more treachery. What a return. Passing Berdych to

:21:43. > :21:46.approach the net and Berdych was beyond the line. He is not even in

:21:47. > :21:51.the picture there, a sensational move. He got the ball, wrapped his

:21:52. > :22:06.racket around. To find a tight enough angle.

:22:07. > :22:18.UMPIRE: Mr Berdych is challenging the call. I don't think that was a

:22:19. > :22:20.challenge with conviction. Giving them a bit more time to think about

:22:21. > :22:37.the second serve. So for the second consecutive

:22:38. > :22:44.service game, Tomas Berdych has been broken, failing to consolidate the

:22:45. > :22:52.break he earned against Ivan Dodig. The score now stands back on serve.

:22:53. > :22:59.Ivan Dodig will emerge serving at 4-5 in the fourth set. To their

:23:00. > :23:02.credit, neither player looked at the umpire and ask questions about

:23:03. > :23:09.whether they should be coming off court or not. Quite happy to stay

:23:10. > :23:17.out there unaware that other outside courts had the covers on. And that

:23:18. > :23:21.is good to see. This is not reckless. They know the dangers of a

:23:22. > :23:31.slippery grass court. Happy to play on. Maybe Mr Berdych is ruing that

:23:32. > :23:39.decision. Not that he would have been able to influence the decision.

:23:40. > :23:46.But at that stage, he was serving for the match. And now we're back on

:23:47. > :24:26.serve. Ivan Dodig serving. 4-5, trailing by 2-1 sets.

:24:27. > :24:31.Only 103 mph flat serve but plenty of slice on it and really accurate

:24:32. > :24:45.which meant there was no chance for Berdych.

:24:46. > :24:57.Berdych has one challenge remaining and he is thinking about it. So the

:24:58. > :25:07.final challenge of Tomas Berdych has been used and it is a good one.

:25:08. > :25:08.Vindicated in that challenge. This is going to be tough for the server

:25:09. > :26:09.now. That is a terrific serve, the 16th

:26:10. > :26:16.ace of the match. Such a tight angle. I will explain what that

:26:17. > :26:22.number three years in the second but it has everything to do with the

:26:23. > :26:33.weather conditions. -- what that number three is. Consecutive aces to

:26:34. > :26:40.hold serve. Tied at 5-5. So the umpire and the court covers are

:26:41. > :26:45.somewhat bolder non-A numbering system and at the time it gets to

:26:46. > :26:51.number three, when it gets to number two actually, it is the umpire's

:26:52. > :27:02.discretion as to whether they are going to bring the players off. SUE

:27:03. > :27:05.BARKER: We're leaving here, moving over to BBC Two. If you want to

:27:06. > :27:13.continue watching, this match continues online on the BBC sport at

:27:14. > :27:20.and connected TV. Other matches continue here including Fernando

:27:21. > :27:24.Verdasco against Domenech, with Domenech up in the fifth and final

:27:25. > :27:35.set. Play continues here, in the showers, but we are guaranteed play

:27:36. > :27:40.on a Centre Court, on BBC Two. And this is the man we are looking

:27:41. > :27:45.forward to seeing later on, Marcus Willis, taking on Roger Federer. So

:27:46. > :27:49.that is the match, late this afternoon, when all eyes will be on

:27:50. > :27:58.the left-hander with a big serve. He is known as the Willbomb. We will

:27:59. > :28:05.see you later. An amazing story, this 25-year-old from Slough, his

:28:06. > :28:11.first ever tour level match. Superb, after 32 minutes of utterly

:28:12. > :28:18.uninhibited tennis, Marcus Willis, ranked 772, has taken the first

:28:19. > :28:25.steps. That is delightful. What a glorious stroke. Continuing to enjoy

:28:26. > :28:32.the occasion as well as the supporters. He is feeding off it. He

:28:33. > :28:42.is taking inspiration from it. Dream staff. And he is loving it. Look at

:28:43. > :28:48.what this means to Marcus Willis. What a way to close it out. Marcus

:28:49. > :28:53.Willis as romped into the second round of Wimbledon 2016 with a

:28:54. > :28:56.commanding straight sets victory over a man ranked 718 places above

:28:57. > :29:00.him. What a wonderful story. # ..to the beat

:29:01. > :29:07.She could have had it all
