:00:41. > :00:47.Hello and welcome to day six of Wimbledon. Not sure how many Welsh
:00:48. > :00:52.viewers we will have tuning in after all the celebrations last night.
:00:53. > :00:57.Well done to you. Here at Wimbledon, it is super Saturday. With so many
:00:58. > :01:02.top players involved, with clay being stopped ten times in five
:01:03. > :01:06.days, there is a backlog, so there will be played tomorrow with a
:01:07. > :01:10.People's Sunday for the first time since 2004. At least 18 guaranteed
:01:11. > :01:15.singles matches plus those not completed today. Details will be
:01:16. > :01:19.completed by the club later this afternoon but tickets must be bought
:01:20. > :01:24.online. If you can get here, it should be quite a day. The
:01:25. > :01:30.atmosphere will be electric. Play is going to get underway on all courts,
:01:31. > :01:35.including centre and number one, at 11:30am, so get here early. That is
:01:36. > :01:40.an extra day tomorrow, but now lets take a look at today and who is
:01:41. > :01:46.involved. There are some of the players arriving. That is Simona
:01:47. > :01:53.Halep, seeded five. She reached the semifinals in 2014. She is on Centre
:01:54. > :01:58.Court. Petra Kvitova is here, two times champion at Wimbledon. She
:01:59. > :02:01.hasn't completed her second-round match yet against Katarina Makarova
:02:02. > :02:06.but she is looking very relaxed. This is the man everybody is talking
:02:07. > :02:10.about, the big serving American Sam Querrey, because he is on the brink
:02:11. > :02:17.of pulling off one of the biggest shocks in tennis by putting out
:02:18. > :02:20.Novak Djokovic. He leads 2-0. This was Novak Djokovic, playing on court
:02:21. > :02:28.14 this morning. He didn't look well. There was talk with his coach,
:02:29. > :02:33.Boris Becker, playing shots and practising. He has got a lot of work
:02:34. > :02:42.to do when play gets underway on Court Number One at 12pm. Lets take
:02:43. > :02:45.a look at the order of play. Simona Halep against Kiki Bertens is up
:02:46. > :02:54.first. John Millman against Andy Murray. Murray is the world number
:02:55. > :02:57.two. And then Milos Raonic, big serving, semifinalist in 2014,
:02:58. > :03:04.taking on the American Jack Sock, who won the doubles in 2014. All
:03:05. > :03:09.eyes will be on Court Number One. We will be there to see this match
:03:10. > :03:16.resumed. Novak Djokovic against Sam Querrey. 7-6, 6-1, racing through
:03:17. > :03:22.that second. Djokovic couldn't do anything. He has been undefeated in
:03:23. > :03:26.grand slam events all year. He holds all four this year, so that could be
:03:27. > :03:33.a big shock. Madison Keys Exxon Alize Cornet. And then Nick Kyrgios
:03:34. > :03:37.against Feliciano Lopez, both of them coming through in five sets
:03:38. > :03:42.yesterday, so they will be a bit weary today. Other matches to look
:03:43. > :03:45.forward to, Carina Witthoft of Germany up against fellow German
:03:46. > :03:53.Angelique Kerber. We will be going to that one. I think that hopefully
:03:54. > :04:00.Witthoft will learn from when they met last year, losing in 45 minutes,
:04:01. > :04:04.6-0, 6-0. Petra Kvitova has lost the opening set to Katarina Makarova, so
:04:05. > :04:14.some work to do for the two-time champion. Kei Nishikori is taking on
:04:15. > :04:19.Andrei Kuznetsov. And Steve Johnson, started yesterday, up against former
:04:20. > :04:23.semifinalist Grigor Dimitrov. That is on court 18. I mentioned we have
:04:24. > :04:28.had ten rain delays throughout the day, and Carol Kirkwood was bringing
:04:29. > :04:33.us such bad news last week. She has become a bit of a part timer and she
:04:34. > :04:39.has got the weekend off, so we have got Darren bet. We hope you have
:04:40. > :04:44.better news for us. We hang on your every word. I am usually the voice
:04:45. > :04:48.of doom. We have got all of the fans coming onto Murray Mount. It's
:04:49. > :04:55.really been filling up. Maybe people are expecting a shock on the big
:04:56. > :04:59.screen. I can see sunglasses, not many umbrellas, but we may need an
:05:00. > :05:03.umbrella. The forecast is for sunny spells but a chance this afternoon
:05:04. > :05:08.of a fuchsia showers. They could be heavy but they won't last long. The
:05:09. > :05:12.wind is quite strong so, if you are not in the sun, it will feel quite
:05:13. > :05:17.cold. That could make it difficult for the players. After 6pm, the
:05:18. > :05:22.chances showers much reduced. Temperatures peaking at about 19 or
:05:23. > :05:26.20. We need a forecast for tomorrow. Tomorrow should be dry. We are a bit
:05:27. > :05:30.twitchy about the middle part of the day, where there will be more clout
:05:31. > :05:34.around. More likely to have rain near the English Channel. Hopefully
:05:35. > :05:40.dry tomorrow. It should be warmer as well. Quick heads up for next week,
:05:41. > :05:45.still a chance of a fuchsia hours, nothing particularly nasty so, with
:05:46. > :05:51.a bit of luck, we should get lots of play. -- a chance of a feud showers.
:05:52. > :05:58.At the moment, all I can see are some great bottomed clouds. That
:05:59. > :06:02.isn't a particularly good sign. I tell you what, Darren, you can stay
:06:03. > :06:08.because you have brought us a lot more better news. Carol boom? That
:06:09. > :06:18.is what we will save on Monday. -- carol boom? John McEnroe is here. I
:06:19. > :06:21.thought you lived here. I apologise. I have been so excited about being
:06:22. > :06:30.in the royal box for the first time in 39 years. Wow! My wife ordered me
:06:31. > :06:37.to close my jacket, but I can't, because I have eaten too much. I'm
:06:38. > :06:44.going to keep it open. Apologise. We have done a couple of openings here.
:06:45. > :06:50.Yes, we have. It's nice. I'm excited that there is play Saturday and
:06:51. > :06:55.Sunday. It's magical, because people can get tickets online. They will
:06:56. > :07:00.start at 11:30am on all courts. It's a chance for the Williams sisters to
:07:01. > :07:04.rest a bit. They've had a tough couple of days. I'm excited.
:07:05. > :07:08.American TV does a show on Sunday anyway, so there is usually no body
:07:09. > :07:15.hair, you guys are having a few drinks and we are working and
:07:16. > :07:22.toiling. -- nobody here. We will talk about Novak Djokovic in a
:07:23. > :07:23.moment. It has been quite a week here and elsewhere. John in the dale
:07:24. > :07:37.has this for us. -- John Inver Dale. Wimbledon has a crucial role to play
:07:38. > :07:41.this year in eggs -- restoring our faith in normality. It is a mixed up
:07:42. > :07:45.world at the moment but, in south-west 19, no sign of the
:07:46. > :07:51.Icelandic number one. He doesn't even have a world ranking. In his
:07:52. > :07:57.dreams, he is Marcus Willis. There is the rub, Willis didn't win, and
:07:58. > :08:01.neither did Dan Evans, both exiting the Men's Singles at the hands of a
:08:02. > :08:06.seven times winner determined to remain in the event as long as
:08:07. > :08:08.possible, a giant who invites nostalgia while still harbouring
:08:09. > :08:13.ambitions of being champion again. While we laud the new styles, we
:08:14. > :08:20.actually crave the old stars even more. We watch Becker, Lendl, even
:08:21. > :08:25.McEnroe on the sidelines and yet we yearn for them to still be on the
:08:26. > :08:30.court, to return us to a time when the world probably wasn't any safer
:08:31. > :08:35.or less crazy but we somehow imagine that it was, a time when Britain
:08:36. > :08:40.always had a seed in the Women's Singles. Except, hang on, we've got
:08:41. > :08:45.one of those, too. We are almost blase about having a man in the
:08:46. > :08:51.latter stages of the Men's Singles, but Johanna Konta was in the
:08:52. > :08:54.semifinals in Australia, and she has gone to the top 20 in inside a year.
:08:55. > :09:00.That isn't just good, it's Icelandic. When you go to Wimbledon,
:09:01. > :09:07.you know what you are going to get, aces from Johnny 's nerve, backhands
:09:08. > :09:11.from Gasquet, dropped shots from Andy, nervous Novak, seven shades of
:09:12. > :09:21.Serena, tantrums and tears. Everything as it should be, from a
:09:22. > :09:25.to zzz. Over the years, there has always been the occasional upset,
:09:26. > :09:29.but fundamentally it's purpose is to tease and titillate us before the
:09:30. > :09:33.tournament starts to reel on Monday because, in the world of Wimbledon,
:09:34. > :09:37.you are unseeded for a reason, you are an outsider for a reason, you
:09:38. > :09:42.are a bit part cameo player because, in this greatest of shows, the
:09:43. > :09:43.starring roles for the stars. That's the way it is, some things will
:09:44. > :09:54.never change. Sadly, in some cases. At least we have some better news
:09:55. > :09:59.for today, but I am not sure it is good news for Novak Djokovic,
:10:00. > :10:02.because he was practising on court 14, the championship court, this
:10:03. > :10:05.morning, with Boris Becker. I couldn't believe what I was seeing.
:10:06. > :10:11.He looked like he didn't really want to be there at all, just going
:10:12. > :10:14.through the motions. He was hitting against a junior, getting some big
:10:15. > :10:18.serves against him, but the returns were going into the bottom of the
:10:19. > :10:25.net, he was dropping his head, doing a lot of talking. You've got to save
:10:26. > :10:28.it for the match. Listen, first of all, the best thing that could have
:10:29. > :10:33.happened to Novak was that it rained last night and they cancelled. This
:10:34. > :10:37.gives him a chance to regroup. Listen, there is a lot of players in
:10:38. > :10:41.that top half of the draw that didn't sleep as well because they
:10:42. > :10:45.are thinking, wait a second, if this guy isn't in the tournament, guess
:10:46. > :10:49.who has got a better chance, everybody in the field, including
:10:50. > :10:53.Federer. Something tells me he will have his act together. Sam Querrey
:10:54. > :10:59.probably had quite a sleepless night, laid-back as he is. It's hard
:11:00. > :11:04.not to pick the guy, but I think it puts it in perspective. We've talked
:11:05. > :11:12.about his superhuman effort, holding all four titles, nobody doing that
:11:13. > :11:16.for 47 years. He is human. He is a human being. He snapped. I'm trying
:11:17. > :11:23.to remember the last time I saw him sort of lose it completely and pool,
:11:24. > :11:28.dare I say it, a Nick Kyrgios for a couple of games and throw away a
:11:29. > :11:32.set. The only good news is that it is best five. You do have a bit of
:11:33. > :11:37.wiggle room that you can do something like that, but he's put
:11:38. > :11:43.his back against the wall. If Sam serves as well as he did, it was 130
:11:44. > :11:50.serves one of the other, not missing. Last year, a guided the
:11:51. > :11:56.same thing to him, it first of sets. -- a guy did the same thing. Since
:11:57. > :12:04.then, he won Wimbledon, Australia, French. You are giving Djokovic fans
:12:05. > :12:08.a lot of hope. Yesterday, Sam was playing so well, but Djokovic, we
:12:09. > :12:12.couldn't really understand what was going on. The almost looked amused
:12:13. > :12:17.at some point. When somebody is playing that well, it is hard to
:12:18. > :12:25.know what to do. -- he almost looked bemused. He wants to get in these
:12:26. > :12:30.extended rallies. Sam has always had a big game and a big forehand. I
:12:31. > :12:37.have seen him since he was a kid. The part that we question in America
:12:38. > :12:41.is his intensity. In this tournament, he did something that he
:12:42. > :12:49.has never done, coming from 2-0 down. That really helps Sam Querrey
:12:50. > :12:52.mentally, that he has battled. He was known as a guy who gave in and
:12:53. > :12:56.didn't stick with it. If you remember, in the tie-break in this
:12:57. > :13:05.one, there were a couple of ties, one in particular, where Novak
:13:06. > :13:11.dived. It was an incredible shot. Sam had a couple of quite nervy
:13:12. > :13:15.forehands in the tie-break. Exactly. The second set, the way he was
:13:16. > :13:20.playing, the way he seemed to lack effort, we were, wait a minute,
:13:21. > :13:26.what's going on? Are they going to call the trainer? It was extremely
:13:27. > :13:32.shocking. There was no indication. He hasn't won more than three games
:13:33. > :13:38.in a set in the last seven, Sam Querrey. And he hasn't done well
:13:39. > :13:43.against the top guys. He lost early in both majors this year, he didn't
:13:44. > :13:47.do well at Queen's. He lost 7-6 in the third. It was a bit more of the
:13:48. > :13:51.same. But I think these Americans are feeding off each other right
:13:52. > :13:58.now. Johnson had a great grass court -- grass court run. John is no came
:13:59. > :13:59.early to Queen's, which I didn't think he has ever done. -- John is
:14:00. > :14:10.nerve. And Jack Sock up against Milos
:14:11. > :14:15.Raonic today. And there is a big upside for both guys, especially if
:14:16. > :14:20.Kerry were to win here. Their eyes bulging out of their heads if that
:14:21. > :14:25.happens. That puts pressure on guys. But Jack Sock has a wicked forehand.
:14:26. > :14:33.He has got good hands. Milos is ready. They could be interruptions
:14:34. > :14:41.from showers from Djokovic and quarry on Court One. Where would you
:14:42. > :14:46.put your money? I think it will be difficult for Sam to get it done. I
:14:47. > :14:52.would pick Novak. That's an easy pick. Sam looked to be hitting the
:14:53. > :14:57.ball sweetly. He has got a lethal forehand. He looked to be moving
:14:58. > :15:02.better, impeding harder. He was on such a role last night. The rain
:15:03. > :15:06.came at the best time for Djokovic. It was the worst time for Sam. He
:15:07. > :15:12.was in the zone, he couldn't do anything wrong. As long as he keeps
:15:13. > :15:18.competing hard, he will have a shot. He isn't going to just fall over
:15:19. > :15:22.now. He's got a big serve. It's easy to be a coach now, just be ready
:15:23. > :15:25.from the first point, play the way you have been playing and don't let
:15:26. > :15:30.it affect you. Exceptionally difficult to pull off. There is an
:15:31. > :15:37.unbelievable upside for Sam if he wins this. Even Sam has got to be
:15:38. > :15:41.super excited right now. If you were coaching him, would you be saying,
:15:42. > :15:48.you've got to get as many first serves as you can, keeping on the
:15:49. > :15:54.back foot, keep Djokovic moving? -- keep him. The game plan he has come
:15:55. > :15:59.up with is the game plan with other big guys, to attack and make Novak
:16:00. > :16:04.feel uncomfortable, which is very hard to do. If you are able to sort
:16:05. > :16:09.of dictate the points and shorten them if you want and go bigger and
:16:10. > :16:14.not let him get a rhythm, that is your best shot. It isn't like these
:16:15. > :16:19.guys are going to beat him in long, extended rallies. He wants to
:16:20. > :16:25.fatigue you. You want you to come in ten shots into the rally. I saw Sam
:16:26. > :16:30.do something, I think it was in the tie-break, he came in off Novak's
:16:31. > :16:35.serve. That is, to me, was really smart. It put pressure on them. He
:16:36. > :16:40.is trying to win a calendar Grand Slam, a golden slam, adding the
:16:41. > :16:45.Olympics to the other four. He is doing something historical. This guy
:16:46. > :16:50.has got to make Novak feel some pressure. He's got to go for it,
:16:51. > :16:55.he's not got to win the long rallies, is got to take chances as
:16:56. > :17:01.he did yesterday. He's got to feel that luck is on his side. He has won
:17:02. > :17:07.some tough matches. Cilic went the days and days. Sam Querrey, people
:17:08. > :17:13.may forget this, but he has been in the world top 20. People thought he
:17:14. > :17:18.was going to reach the world top ten. What has held him back, for me,
:17:19. > :17:25.knowing and liking him as a guy, hitting with him in the past,
:17:26. > :17:28.laid-back, not intense enough, not wanting it enough, and these guys
:17:29. > :17:32.pull out all the stops. Forget about that practice session, Boris just
:17:33. > :17:38.wants to get his head into this and get him focused. We saw what
:17:39. > :17:42.happened to Serena last year, playing Heather Watson, she almost
:17:43. > :17:50.lost that, and she won the tournament. And yesterday. Exactly.
:17:51. > :17:54.She went for the Grand Slam. That is a similar situation. What they are
:17:55. > :18:00.doing is monumental and historic and they want to keep it going, but they
:18:01. > :18:03.are human. Absolutely. All the players in the top half will be
:18:04. > :18:07.having a look, and I am thinking that Andy Murray might be having a
:18:08. > :18:11.close eye on Court Number One. That was the target for him. He is on
:18:12. > :18:17.Centre Court today. What do you make of his progress? I think he has
:18:18. > :18:21.played better than anybody in the tournament. He struggled a bit early
:18:22. > :18:26.in Queen's. I think part of that was the hangover from losing to Novak in
:18:27. > :18:30.the French. I think he was undecided if he was even going to play at
:18:31. > :18:34.Queen's. I think he decided to and ended up watching it well and
:18:35. > :18:38.unfortunately he had Milos Raonic, and he came through and one that in
:18:39. > :18:44.three. That would have been a big loss for him. He has had inspiration
:18:45. > :18:51.from Ivan Lendl being around. Well said! Diplomatic. You can't help but
:18:52. > :18:56.think it will be a big thing for him. Just adding that bit of belief.
:18:57. > :19:03.That is what it boils down to. The way he is playing right now, it's
:19:04. > :19:07.hard to imagine, the way he is playing, that he won't get all the
:19:08. > :19:13.way to the end of the tournament. Of course, there is tennis to be
:19:14. > :19:18.played, and there are guys like Kyrgios, if he gets hot, that drive
:19:19. > :19:26.anybody crazy. He has got so many shots, Murray, so much choice. The
:19:27. > :19:31.final piece of the puzzle is his willingness to move forward and take
:19:32. > :19:37.it to players when he needs to. It may matter against Kyrgios. It will
:19:38. > :19:43.matter against Djokovic, whoever it is. It is Millman today. What sort
:19:44. > :19:49.of game plan do you think he will have today? John Millman is somebody
:19:50. > :19:54.who is happy to be there. He is going to be, first and foremost,
:19:55. > :19:58.trying to figure out some way to make Andy Murray feel uncomfortable,
:19:59. > :20:03.Allassani where even. That is easier said than done. What Andy Murray is
:20:04. > :20:09.going to do is to play exactly the way he does play. He has made a
:20:10. > :20:16.concerted effort effort to come in off his returns, and even before
:20:17. > :20:25.Ivan people were preaching that, but his tendency was to think, I am so
:20:26. > :20:28.quick that I can counterpunch. Ivan was the first guy that got him
:20:29. > :20:33.realising, you will be more dangerous if you have both. To me,
:20:34. > :20:38.he does that. He has worked on his second serve, that is better. When
:20:39. > :20:42.it gets tight, all players, that is what can break down. Finally,
:20:43. > :20:48.volleying. If he is going to win this and they few more majors, he
:20:49. > :20:52.will have to incorporate that. But he is amazing. And moving so well.
:20:53. > :20:58.Have you met Ivan Lendl in the locker room? Have you said hello or
:20:59. > :21:04.had a shoulder barge? Way too many times already. We can have a good
:21:05. > :21:09.laugh at this point. I saw him the first day he got to Queen's. I saw
:21:10. > :21:13.him, here he comes, just when I finally was doing a couple of weeks
:21:14. > :21:19.of coaching, he is back! In a way, it is good. One of the best things
:21:20. > :21:34.for us old, it starts with the letter F, guys, it makes us feel
:21:35. > :21:39.more a part of it. When Stephan was around, you had Ivan, I can see
:21:40. > :21:43.where they get the juices flowing a little bit, if you can make 1%
:21:44. > :21:47.difference... These guys, they are so professional and awesome, seeing
:21:48. > :21:52.what they have accomplished in the last ten years, and you see Raonic,
:21:53. > :21:58.all of these guys trying to bridge the gap, to get closer, doing
:21:59. > :22:01.everything possible... Hopefully it is a win- win for the people
:22:02. > :22:09.involved, but more importantly for the tennis. You have got a date in
:22:10. > :22:16.the royal box today. Milos is on court. There is no fist pump ring
:22:17. > :22:23.allowed. I'm going to be commentated. You are not there for
:22:24. > :22:28.the day? No, I get to watch a fantastic women's match. Simona
:22:29. > :22:35.Halep is playing. Kiki Bertens, semifinalist. So that should be very
:22:36. > :22:42.competitive. Who would have thought, when I first came here in 1977, when
:22:43. > :22:50.you and I were both losing semifinalists, and I won't you...
:22:51. > :22:53.No! And you won't ask me about losing to collars. And I had
:22:54. > :23:01.difficulty getting membership of the All-England Club. Hopefully I won't
:23:02. > :23:05.be in the back row. David Beckham is in there today. There are a whole
:23:06. > :23:10.bunch of sport stars in there. We will see where this pans out. I'm a
:23:11. > :23:15.bit concerned about the seating plan. We will have a look as we go.
:23:16. > :23:19.John, thank you. You can walk through that door and straight
:23:20. > :23:27.through to the royal box. Have you got your past? I've got my tickets.
:23:28. > :23:33.Once every 39 years! I'm still waiting. We have got some tennis for
:23:34. > :23:39.you right now, because we are going to be heading out to see Angelique
:23:40. > :23:44.Kerber in just a moment, but first, play is under way. There is no rain
:23:45. > :23:47.at the moment. On court 18, this match was held over yesterday
:23:48. > :24:04.because of the rain, and it is still uncertain.
:24:05. > :24:13.This match is available on the website. There are up to 15 court is
:24:14. > :24:21.available online, on the app and unconnected TV. -- on connected TV.
:24:22. > :24:27.Moving over to court number 12, as I can hear John McEnroe getting a huge
:24:28. > :24:32.cheer, this is Marin Cilic 2-0 up against Lukas Lacko of Slovakia.
:24:33. > :24:38.That match is available online. We are heading off to court number 24
:24:39. > :24:45.Angelique Kerber. It was 6-0, 6-0 last year, but Carina Witthoft is on
:24:46. > :24:50.the board, so lets join our commentators.
:24:51. > :24:58.I think she will feel a whole lot better with life. Winning a game for
:24:59. > :25:00.the first time against her compatriot, Angelique Kerber, who is
:25:01. > :25:26.serving at the moment. Kerber with the break already in
:25:27. > :25:32.this first set, in a big day for German sports, with their Euro 16
:25:33. > :25:33.quarterfinal later. Plenty of action in men's and women's semifinals
:25:34. > :25:38.today. The Germans don't know where to
:25:39. > :26:07.turn. This is a good place to start. A good start from Angelique Kerber.
:26:08. > :26:17.She has played two left-handers so far in this tournament, so after
:26:18. > :26:19.playing base, getting the dimensions right, it isn't easy to have to play
:26:20. > :26:33.a right-hander. O'Connor yes, that is the sort of
:26:34. > :26:37.forehand which helped Kerber to her first Grand Slam title at the start
:26:38. > :26:44.of the year. Champion at the Australian Open. Life will feel a
:26:45. > :26:52.lot different now is a major winner. 28 years of age, so she knows her
:26:53. > :26:53.way around the tour. Kerber, the number four seed at this year's
:26:54. > :27:21.Wimbledon. That is the depth from Witthoft that
:27:22. > :27:40.is important. She's got to use that for and effectively.
:27:41. > :27:46.She has struggled a bit with her service today. 107, that is pretty
:27:47. > :28:24.handy. Just lacking a bit of rhythm. She can't draw a lot from her
:28:25. > :28:31.experience on grass before Wimbledon, Witthoft. Didn't win a
:28:32. > :28:34.match in Majorca, didn't win a match in Eastbourne. Certainly growing in
:28:35. > :28:58.confidence after the first two wins here.
:28:59. > :29:07.One of the best neutralises, I think, on the WTA Tour, Kerber. We
:29:08. > :29:22.will watch how she gets down nice and low to be deep balls.
:29:23. > :29:35.They didn't hold, she is 109 in the world. She has been significantly
:29:36. > :29:40.higher. -- that was a decent hold. And she is, Louise, one of the top
:29:41. > :29:47.players in the world, no doubt. She came close to the final here a few
:29:48. > :29:53.years ago when she made the Semel is -- the semis, losing to Radwanska.
:29:54. > :29:58.Being in the Dublin -- bottom half of the draw, it is to make an impact
:29:59. > :30:05.in the second half of the week. I'm sure they would have been excited.
:30:06. > :30:14.She was one of the players I was watching. And also Bancic, I was
:30:15. > :30:19.surprised she went out after such a great first round. But we tend to
:30:20. > :30:24.think of Angelique Kerber as a late Bloomer. She was 23 when she got to
:30:25. > :30:31.the semifinals of the US Open. That was six years ago five, coming up to
:30:32. > :30:59.six. But she has played some terrific tennis since then.
:31:00. > :31:07.Good death there, and it is obvious the average age of the top 100
:31:08. > :31:09.players there is 25, 26, said that is getting up there, getting longer,
:31:10. > :31:25.having longer careers. That is where she sometimes
:31:26. > :31:29.struggles a bit, Kerber, generating pace, that was a really slow ball
:31:30. > :31:38.coming from Witthoeft there, needs to use her feet.
:31:39. > :31:51.Oh, good shot. Had to be careful there, 0-30 point. She moves so
:31:52. > :31:56.well, Kerber, and so consistent from the back of the court. With the
:31:57. > :32:07.power as well, very much on display there. Oh, that is not one of her
:32:08. > :32:12.best, though. She will find us for not playing a replay of that. Wasn't
:32:13. > :32:43.much to say about it, was there? This will be great for Witthoeft to
:32:44. > :32:46.take one of these points here, get back to even standings would be
:32:47. > :33:10.very, very positive for her. That is free- three first set, and
:33:11. > :33:15.you can see her confidence rising with each game. You have two window
:33:16. > :33:18.of Angelique Kerber if there is that bit of pressure playing another
:33:19. > :34:04.German, someone well below his standings as well. -- his
:34:05. > :34:15.good consistency there again from Witthoeft, she has two time that one
:34:16. > :34:38.down the line. Go for bigger targets.
:34:39. > :34:45.I think if there is a bit more breeze that starts to blow up, that
:34:46. > :35:30.is where Witthoeft is going to struggle today.
:35:31. > :35:43.She has got that one wrong. She was looking to move with her around the
:35:44. > :35:49.court and take into and Houllier positions, but in these sorts of
:35:50. > :36:17.conditions with the slice, got to make it work better than that.
:36:18. > :36:24.Just looks a bit uncomfortable today, Kerber. She looked very good
:36:25. > :36:26.and had a different game face and body language when she was playing
:36:27. > :36:51.in the last round. She is a lot more effective when
:36:52. > :36:54.she's playing against players who are bigger hitters, she likes it
:36:55. > :37:13.when the ball comes through a little faster.
:37:14. > :37:24.She has done well on those two break points. And this is what you has to
:37:25. > :37:28.do more and more in this match, just go after that forehand, be nice and
:37:29. > :37:35.aggressive, plunged through the corners there.
:37:36. > :37:43.That is good play. She can keep a high percentage of first serves as
:37:44. > :37:50.well, Witthoeft, that will really help her. Just one of two at the
:37:51. > :38:06.moment, just 50%. Good recovery. Four points in a row
:38:07. > :38:13.from 15-40 in the game. And Carina Witthoeft, 109 in the world, and she
:38:14. > :38:18.is ahead for the first time. So, nice day at the moment, the sun is
:38:19. > :38:24.out in south-west London, and the kids are on their weekend of course,
:38:25. > :38:30.they have their activities planned. That is the lake adjacent to the
:38:31. > :38:35.golf course by Wimbledon park. And if you snakes around the far side of
:38:36. > :38:41.that lake and park. And then as we come back to the ground, you will
:38:42. > :38:48.see the All-England Club, and he is caught to. This sunken court, as you
:38:49. > :38:53.enter from those gangways you can see near the top of the stand, that
:38:54. > :38:57.is ground level. You get a bit of a shock when you suddenly see the
:38:58. > :39:01.court way beneath you. That was the idea when they built this relatively
:39:02. > :39:07.new Court. They didn't want to have a lot of concrete on display from
:39:08. > :39:11.the nearby roads, is that was one of the compromisers. It is ably good
:39:12. > :39:17.atmosphere when it is full. Far from that at the moment. Hopefully the
:39:18. > :39:24.signs are good for this match, in terms of competitiveness of it. The
:39:25. > :39:43.stands will be full before too long. Kerber to serve, 3-4.
:39:44. > :39:48.Isn't using her feed that well, Kerber. Get a little more active,
:39:49. > :40:36.more flat. Oh, that was a chance, there was
:40:37. > :40:43."Down the line there. - zero 30 as well. Kerber, the fourth seed, is
:40:44. > :40:57.under a decent amount of pressure, these are big moments. Just didn't
:40:58. > :41:01.get down to that ball, Witthoeft, that is a big opportunity. That
:41:02. > :41:32.shouldn't have caused the much stress on that forehand.
:41:33. > :41:41.Oh, yes. Really good play, and Kerber is not herself out here
:41:42. > :41:44.today. She is very conservative. Very conservative, I would like to
:41:45. > :41:50.see his step up on the baseline more, where she can see damage. You
:41:51. > :41:51.can see her retreating, she becomes ineffective from the baseline. Too
:41:52. > :42:14.far back. This is a shock, Kerber is 3-1 up in
:42:15. > :42:19.the set, remember that 6-0, 6-0 victory against this opponent last
:42:20. > :42:22.year. I am sure she's thinking about that. She is wondering what is going
:42:23. > :43:04.on. She should be more aggressive. Wow. Witthoeft did amazingly well to
:43:05. > :43:10.get across to this. That is a great response to get it that deep, but
:43:11. > :43:31.then Kerber, great wrist action to whippet cross-court.
:43:32. > :43:38.It is going to be perhaps just a deciding factor in this match, the
:43:39. > :45:11.serve of Witthoeft. That is better play from Kerber.
:45:12. > :45:16.Again you just wonder what she's thinking out there, just going
:45:17. > :45:39.through the process of who she is playing, what is happening.
:45:40. > :45:45.Well, unfortunate timing for the double fault, and she saved for the
:45:46. > :45:53.set, Witthoeft, gave it away somewhat.
:45:54. > :45:59.STUDIO: So, fighting back, Angelique Kerber and still on serve. Still
:46:00. > :46:05.some way to go, but let's see what is happening. One result, this match
:46:06. > :46:12.from the game yesterday, and Sloane Stephens has gone through, but not
:46:13. > :46:20.without a struggle. 8-6 in the third set, and a testing rally to end on.
:46:21. > :46:25.That error is the end of the match, so Sloane Stephens, the aching seed,
:46:26. > :46:32.through to face Svetlana Kuznetsova in the fourth round. And Marin Cilic
:46:33. > :46:42.has won that Bird said, he's gone through against Lukas Lacko of
:46:43. > :46:49.Slovakia, 6-3, 6-3, 6-4. His coach is delighted with that victory. He
:46:50. > :46:55.will be back on Monday as well. And let's go over to court a wet Grigor
:46:56. > :47:01.Dimitrov dropped the first set, it was 8-6 in the tie-break, but it is
:47:02. > :47:05.on serve on the second. That is on the red button, but let's go back to
:47:06. > :47:29.court to, Kerber serving to stay in this set.
:47:30. > :47:43.Oh, terrific shot. Again just not looking comfortable, Kerber, and I
:47:44. > :47:45.feel it is because of the backhand, it is not coming through that fast
:47:46. > :48:02.from Witthoeft. And she is having to generate pace,
:48:03. > :48:11.which is not what she usually likes to do, she likes to redirect, be a
:48:12. > :48:35.hard counterpuncher, Kerber. The young lads are enjoying the match.
:48:36. > :48:40.Just really looks out of sorts today, Kerber. It is rather unusual
:48:41. > :49:06.to see. Oh, she has got lucky! Looks a
:49:07. > :49:11.little bit like she has got an allergy to the net, because the shot
:49:12. > :49:13.previous, she had such an opportunity to move forward and look
:49:14. > :49:52.for the volley. That could have been so different if
:49:53. > :50:05.that backhand had come back on her side of the court at 15-30. As it
:50:06. > :51:05.is, we are level again. What a difference one year makes.
:51:06. > :51:15.Oh, it is a great way to win the best rally of the match! Longest
:51:16. > :51:22.rally at 28 strokes. Both players playing their part, but this am
:51:23. > :51:26.Kerber was spectacular. Terrific use of the handset, she gets out quickly
:51:27. > :51:50.and had such great control of end range.
:51:51. > :51:58.That is what you want to do at a rally which was 28 strokes, you want
:51:59. > :52:02.to try and get that first strike in play short point, Witthoeft has been
:52:03. > :52:26.able to do that. What a missed opportunity there,
:52:27. > :52:35.just didn't take one more step, just try to not let the ball drop. Just
:52:36. > :53:34.there, just left that drop just a fraction too much.
:53:35. > :53:47.Well, more fluctuations than the weather this sets. Kerber was ahead,
:53:48. > :53:53.Witthoeft lead, circular set, couldn't do it, and now it is Kerber
:53:54. > :54:00.in front, and she will have a chance to serve for 6-5.
:54:01. > :54:08.German tennis is in a pretty healthy situation at the moment, we've got
:54:09. > :54:19.two great players here in this match, but Peschke and others are
:54:20. > :54:25.producing some great games, there is variation is with their game styles.
:54:26. > :54:30.You do have good coaches, they have good work ethic and they are
:54:31. > :54:43.certainly having a very good Federation cup team. And Annika Beck
:54:44. > :54:49.as well. Yes, of course. In the men's, the big talent looking to
:54:50. > :54:55.beat Youzhny, the 19-year-old, six foot six. It has been rather cloudy
:54:56. > :54:59.in the first hour of play. Those grey clouds seem to be attracted to
:55:00. > :55:03.Wimbledon this year, unfortunately. We have seen some umbrella is going
:55:04. > :55:16.up in the northern side of the ground.
:55:17. > :55:36.Oh, come on. That is it, take them down, be optimistic!
:55:37. > :55:46.Oh, good tennis. She has to try something of course in this game. I
:55:47. > :55:52.like this change of mentality from Witthoeft, we've seen the last two
:55:53. > :55:55.games, she's wanted to move forwards and finish at the net, that was
:55:56. > :56:31.better on top of the net. Well, that is both of them failing
:56:32. > :56:44.to serve for the set. Such inconsistency means we sorted
:56:45. > :57:16.out with a tie-break. It is interesting, you look at the
:57:17. > :57:20.numbers for Witthoeft, she served five double faults throughout the
:57:21. > :57:24.year, she has served 90 double fault and 27 aces, that is a big
:57:25. > :57:46.disparity. Well, she has been rewarded for
:57:47. > :58:23.being the aggressor here, Witthoeft. Three points against the serve so
:58:24. > :58:30.far in this tie-break. It is just the first double fault for the match
:58:31. > :58:32.for Kerber, just two for the tournament. Their coach looking
:58:33. > :58:51.rather uncomfortable there. It is a shame, she got the return
:58:52. > :59:10.she wanted, short reply. An easy error.
:59:11. > :59:17.Well, six games out of the 12 in the set went against the serve. And if
:59:18. > :59:19.Kerber loses this point, all six points in the tie-break. They will
:59:20. > :00:04.have gone against the serve. Great shots, Kerber, who must have
:00:05. > :00:13.thought she had won it with that first low forehand. Wasn't expecting
:00:14. > :00:16.to have to play a second. Just so important for Kerber to stay up on
:00:17. > :00:23.that baseline. Look at those legs. Very like Agnieszka Radwanska, she
:00:24. > :00:29.was the one in trademark that shot first, but she's to lived here,
:00:30. > :00:33.Kerber. Emotionally, she's got to get a bit more into this and just
:00:34. > :00:39.raise her intensity. She's been a bit flat flew out. -- a bit flat
:00:40. > :01:20.throughout. She holds on to both of those
:01:21. > :01:23.service points. The way it's going, you feel that absolutely key, those
:01:24. > :01:48.two service holds in the tie-break. Just gets the numbers in the court
:01:49. > :02:08.at the right time, doesn't she, Kerber.
:02:09. > :02:16.That's just a sign of her potential from the back of the court.
:02:17. > :02:20.Beautiful timing on that forehand. Three more set points to come,
:02:21. > :03:26.though. She's going to need a few more of those.
:03:27. > :03:40.She's really making her work for it. That's three set points served by
:03:41. > :03:42.Carina Witthoft. -- saved. And we are now back on serve in this
:03:43. > :04:11.tie-break. Incredible. Well, I'm afraid we have to leave
:04:12. > :04:15.this match, because we are heading over to Court Number One, Gus Novak
:04:16. > :04:21.Djokovic is walking out there. This continues on the red button. We will
:04:22. > :04:25.continue to keep you up-to-date. We will be moving over to BBC One very
:04:26. > :04:29.shortly. We are heading over to Court Number One. There is
:04:30. > :04:34.potentially a huge shock because, last night, before the rain,
:04:35. > :04:40.defending champion Novak Djokovic was in big trouble against big
:04:41. > :04:44.serving American Sam Querrey. 28-year-old Sam Querrey is looking
:04:45. > :04:49.to cause the upset of the tournament, the upset of the year.
:04:50. > :04:56.He has come to play. His concentration is not good right now.
:04:57. > :05:03.Smart play. Sustained pressure from the American. What a pass on the
:05:04. > :05:11.backhand side! That is fantastic set of tennis! A real shock on Court
:05:12. > :05:16.Number One at the end of the day. An extraordinary serving performance
:05:17. > :05:23.but so much more than that besides. That is it. Wow, Djokovic has had a
:05:24. > :05:29.terrible time out there. Djokovic two sets down.
:05:30. > :05:37.He looked so lacklustre yesterday. What can we expect from the world
:05:38. > :05:48.number one? He's got to win three sets to beat this man.
:05:49. > :05:53.Well, a huge ovation for both players. Everyone in their seats
:05:54. > :05:58.very early for this. They don't want to miss any of it, Gus Novak
:05:59. > :06:04.Djokovic is such a great fighter. John McEnroe said, don't worry about
:06:05. > :06:07.what happened in his practice session, he looked like he didn't
:06:08. > :06:13.want to be there, a lot of talking with Boris Becker. He still reckons
:06:14. > :06:18.he can win these three sets. Lets find out what Tim and Andrew think
:06:19. > :06:23.about this match. They are in our commentary position. So, Tim, what
:06:24. > :06:28.about that practice session. Did you see any of it, where it didn't look
:06:29. > :06:42.like you wanted to be there? No. Oh, sorry, we can't hear you. Oh.
:06:43. > :06:48.Anyway, we can't get a word... I'm sure it's absolutely riveting. Could
:06:49. > :06:50.you do some sign language, do you think? Did you think much of
:06:51. > :07:10.Djokovic's practice? No? 5- love to Querrey. What we were
:07:11. > :07:14.just saying was, we think that McEnroe doesn't knowing what he is
:07:15. > :07:21.talking about. Stop getting him in trouble. I think most people here
:07:22. > :07:26.will think that Djokovic is going to come back here, and I'm not sure.
:07:27. > :07:32.Perhaps, if he wins the first set, it might be 50-50, but Sam Querrey
:07:33. > :07:36.played out of his mind. If they had carried on until 20 past eight, he
:07:37. > :07:39.could have been out of the tournament. Sam was playing that
:07:40. > :07:45.well. Can he bridges that form again? It would be the upset of the
:07:46. > :07:48.tournament. Djokovic is a great fighter and you never count him out
:07:49. > :07:54.but he's got to start doing something and he's got to hope that
:07:55. > :08:00.Querrey starts missing. Querrey was so aggressive, only losing four
:08:01. > :08:03.points on serve in the first set. He was taking huge risks from the
