:01:03. > :01:12.UMPIRE: Game, set and match Murray. COMMENTATOR: Roger versus Marcus.
:01:13. > :01:38.David versus Goliath. Djokovic, two sets down. Oh, I say, what a shot.
:01:39. > :01:57.Even by his standards, that was something special.
:01:58. > :02:02.I'll be doing one of those tonight if we have a day of no rain. The
:02:03. > :02:07.weather's been so bad that for only the fourth time in history, and the
:02:08. > :02:10.first time since 2004, we'll be playing tomorrow on Sunday. Details
:02:11. > :02:14.will be announced by the club from 1pm today. Of course, we will keep
:02:15. > :02:17.you updated on that. Play will get under way tomorrow on all courts,

:02:31. > :02:33.give you the order of play later. We're heading straight to Court No 1
:02:34. > :02:38.for what is potentially the biggest story in tennis this year, the world
:02:39. > :02:44.number one, holder of all four Grand Slam titles, the man who's been
:02:45. > :02:50.unbeatable in the majors, Novak Djokovic, is two sets down. We join
:02:51. > :02:52.it with Querry serving at 30-30. Our commentators are Tim Henman and
:02:53. > :03:16.Andrew Castle. He had 0-15, Djokovic, then 15-30,
:03:17. > :03:22.now 30-40. Only the second break point of this match.
:03:23. > :03:26.A hold from 30-30, on the resumption, just an hour and 19
:03:27. > :03:29.played. Djokovic trying to amount one of these comebacks.
:03:30. > :03:36.Snuffed out. Speed gun said 119, it looked
:03:37. > :04:56.quicker than that. Third break point of the game. He's
:04:57. > :05:00.already playing better. For the vast majority of the hour and ten minutes
:05:01. > :05:27.or so yesterday evening. He gave Djokovic a second bite of
:05:28. > :05:33.the cherry. It's a break of serve. The comeback is on, at least the
:05:34. > :05:39.first, few, tentative steps. In the a good volley from Sam Querrey.
:05:40. > :06:14.There -- Sam Querrey there. Djokovic settles in.
:06:15. > :06:17.Djokovic really brought Querry into the net there. He played a good,
:06:18. > :06:57.deep approach shot. The early stages yesterday, Querry
:06:58. > :07:00.was so loose. He was coming out and really crashing the ball. His foot
:07:01. > :07:01.work was good. He's definitely a little bit heavy in the leg this
:07:02. > :07:12.morning. He's playing with something to lose
:07:13. > :07:14.now. He's played players ranked world
:07:15. > :07:19.number one on eight previous occasions. He's lost them all.
:07:20. > :07:49.28 years of age now. John Isner is the top American, at
:07:50. > :07:52.number 17 in the world. Jack Sock is 26. Steve Johnson is playing well.
:07:53. > :08:27.He's 29. You see Querry really trying to be
:08:28. > :08:30.aggressive in the rally. That's the right tactic. He did that so well
:08:31. > :08:33.yesterday. With the foot work not quite as good, not getting in the
:08:34. > :08:42.right position, pulling the trigger and making unforced errors. Djokovic
:08:43. > :08:46.had never lost a set to an American player at Wimbledon before last
:08:47. > :08:50.night, winning all five of his matches against American opponents
:08:51. > :08:54.in straight sets. He actually hadn't lost a set before the round of 16 at
:08:55. > :08:58.a Grand Slam for two years until last night. Imagine that, going
:08:59. > :09:05.through every Grand Slam not losing a set in his first three matches in
:09:06. > :09:08.any of them? It's a remarkable series of tournaments he's put
:09:09. > :09:13.together at the very top level. It's why he's world number one and the
:09:14. > :09:16.winner and the current holding of -- holder of all four grand slams.
:09:17. > :09:19.That's the setting really. That's why this would be a major upset.
:09:20. > :09:30.It's a long way away. It was a lot closer before the
:09:31. > :09:56.resumption. Djokovic now well into this match.
:09:57. > :10:54.Craig Bointon working with Sam Querrey.
:10:55. > :10:58.Court coverers looking as animated as Boris Becker at the moment, I'm
:10:59. > :11:15.sad to report. The court coverers are led by a
:11:16. > :11:23.fellow called Tom - maverick. I don't know which one he is, but he's
:11:24. > :11:25.working hard. Leeds University performing the core of this number
:11:26. > :12:44.one group. First break for Djokovic against the
:12:45. > :12:45.Querry serve. That was minutes ago, is this the
:12:46. > :13:12.second? That's a wonderful defence. Djokovic
:13:13. > :13:20.moving so beautifully to his forehand side. Querry wide with his
:13:21. > :13:25.forehand here - is it a break? Yes, it is. It's 4-0.
:13:26. > :13:38.That happened quickly. Just a little over 15 minutes and
:13:39. > :13:42.Djokovic, who held his first service game here, after 30-30 situation,
:13:43. > :13:46.suddenly into the lead. The rain is coming down. I think
:13:47. > :13:50.we've seen the last point or have we not?
:13:51. > :13:57.It's away. I'm sure that will be the last point.
:13:58. > :14:04.The court coverers need to get on. Here comes Tom and the team. The
:14:05. > :14:10.umpire says enough is enough. What a shame. I hope the tent doesn't have
:14:11. > :14:18.to go up over this court. Just 16 or 17 minutes of play.
:14:19. > :14:29.That's the court surface covered, waiting for the players to move.
:14:30. > :14:33.Then they shift the tarp a bit more, I suspect they'll wait this time,
:14:34. > :14:37.just in the area underneath Number 1 Court rather than go all the way
:14:38. > :14:41.back through that long, narrow tunnel all the way back to Centre
:14:42. > :14:45.Court changing room. Depends what the forecast is. They'll be advised
:14:46. > :14:49.of that. There will be a supervisor there. I'm sure they'll have
:14:50. > :14:53.information coming through from the referee's office with the weather
:14:54. > :15:05.radar, what the outlook is for the next 10, 20, 30 minutes.
:15:06. > :15:11.James Keothavong not that quick to move himself, perhaps this is just a
:15:12. > :15:14.short shower. Although, it does appear that they are going to put
:15:15. > :15:19.the tent up right over the top of this. I'm sure it's not called a
:15:20. > :15:22.tent. Are they going to inflate this as well? I think they are. They're
:15:23. > :15:27.going through the whole process. That's it from court one, what a
:15:28. > :15:34.fantastic start for Novak Djokovic. Who was counting him out?
:15:35. > :15:38.STUDIO: Nobody, nobody would be that foolish. Djokovic in control of that
:15:39. > :15:44.third set. He needs to be. He needs to win all three remaining sets. Sue
:15:45. > :15:48.has stepped out to Centre Court where she is preparing for the
:15:49. > :15:53.parade of champions. I'm temporarily in the hot seat here. As the
:15:54. > :15:57.umbrellas go up and the crowds take shelter, as best they k, we hope
:15:58. > :16:01.this is just a passing shower, because it is essential that matches
:16:02. > :16:05.get completed today. We've already got confirmation that there will be
:16:06. > :16:08.play here at Wimbledon tomorrow. As you can see the outside courts being
:16:09. > :16:15.covered as well. Centre Court, where action is due to start at 1pm, will,
:16:16. > :16:19.I suspect, already be closing the roof. Lots to catch up on and if you
:16:20. > :16:26.were watching on BBC Two, you'll have seen Angelique Kerber in action
:16:27. > :16:29.there. She is playing Carina Witthoeft of Germany. We pick up the
:16:30. > :16:50.action in the first set tie-break. COMMENTATOR: This has been a quite
:16:51. > :17:00.startling recovery in the tie-break from Carina Witthoeft. Remember, she
:17:01. > :17:04.was 6-2 down here. Just paying the price really, Kerber. She's the
:17:05. > :17:19.back-seat driver. This one's in the front seat, really taking charge.
:17:20. > :17:28.As a coach, you usually tell your player under extreme pressure, don't
:17:29. > :18:40.go for a drop shot. But just perfectly executed.
:18:41. > :18:43.Kerber 100% committed to attacking and staying on the backhand side of
:18:44. > :18:50.Witthoeft. Witthoeft can do damage to the
:18:51. > :19:37.forehand. On we go.
:19:38. > :19:40.So unusual to get to 9-9 in a tie-break, that the umpire has to
:19:41. > :19:48.remind them that this is a change of end. Every six points, of course.
:19:49. > :19:52.Wow. That was a missed opportunity there, again, you can see Kerber
:19:53. > :19:54.just wanting to really focus on that backhand side. It's certainly the
:19:55. > :20:06.weaker side of Witthoeft. That's the easier serve for the
:20:07. > :20:25.lefty on that side to drag your opponent wide.
:20:26. > :20:30.Oh, well, in fairness, that's one all for the set. Witthoeft gets
:20:31. > :21:38.lucky off the net court. That's another area of her game that
:21:39. > :21:42.she really needs time prove. This is a giveaway. That should be the end
:21:43. > :21:43.of the set. Witthoeft should have been able to do something more off
:21:44. > :22:19.the backhand volley. That's brilliant play. How she's
:22:20. > :22:24.growing over the course of this long first set. It's lasted almost an
:22:25. > :22:45.hour. Such a valuable period in her tennis education.
:22:46. > :22:51.You're right, but I think regardless of the outcome of this match, this
:22:52. > :22:55.is a turning point for Carina Witthoeft. She has not been able to
:22:56. > :23:24.win back-to-back matches throughout the year, really struggled.
:23:25. > :23:29.Remember that Kerber had all those set points when she was 6-2 up in
:23:30. > :23:57.the tie-break. That seems like yesterday!
:23:58. > :24:02.STUDIO: Angelique Kerber the Australian Open champion having to
:24:03. > :24:07.fight against Carina Witthoeft, who she beat love and love this time
:24:08. > :24:12.last year. But the German absolutely toe to toe with her. Kerber took the
:24:13. > :24:16.first set and is a break up in the second leading that 2-0. This is the
:24:17. > :24:20.scene outside at the moment as people scurry for drinks and a
:24:21. > :24:25.little bit of food and hoping that this rain shower will pass. It's not
:24:26. > :24:29.actually raining at the moment. It's very blustery out there. Rain is in
:24:30. > :24:34.the air rather than pouring down. Now there's been a sensational match
:24:35. > :24:40.on court 18. Grigor Dimitrov, always a popular player, when he comes to
:24:41. > :24:45.the UK. Queen's champion 2014. Beat Murray in the quarter finals here in
:24:46. > :24:50.2014. He was against Steve Johnson of the USA. We join it in the
:24:51. > :25:41.tie-break with Dimitrov serving. Beautifully done. Each shot that
:25:42. > :25:46.Johnson hit during that rally was behind Dimitrov. Dimitrov moves
:25:47. > :25:52.extremely well, so he always goes to the open court. You see how hard it
:25:53. > :25:54.is to change direction on the grass. Johnson is the better volleyer. Can
:25:55. > :26:11.he get in there enough? It's so important for Steve Johnson
:26:12. > :26:16.to play a good tie-break, win or lose. He's so competitive. He's got
:26:17. > :26:19.to be angry about the game he played at 5-4. If he can overcome it, he'll
:26:20. > :26:37.forget about it. At least when you're 5-4 up and lose
:26:38. > :26:46.serve, you don't lose the set. You still have a chance.
:26:47. > :26:52.Very impressive in his previous round, Dimitrov. That was against
:26:53. > :27:10.Gilles Simon. That's bad play from Johnson. He got
:27:11. > :27:18.caught at the back of the court, lost his balance. The ball took a
:27:19. > :27:22.funny bounce. Johnson is one of these guys who continually slices
:27:23. > :27:23.the backhand. He knifes it. When he's hitting the ball well, it stays
:27:24. > :27:31.low. Just waiting for the balls to come
:27:32. > :27:36.from the other end of the court from the ball boys and girls. They do a
:27:37. > :28:16.Stirling job here at Wimbledon. A fantastic point. That's what it
:28:17. > :28:23.means to Steve Johnson. Best point of the match thus far. You saw the
:28:24. > :28:26.American ripping shots forehand after forehand after forehand. Makes
:28:27. > :28:32.himself get in position. You saw the movement and the quickness from
:28:33. > :28:44.Dimitrov to put the ball back. In the end, the American just coming up
:28:45. > :28:47.with the goods. Huge point at 2-3. 17-shot rally, the longest so far.
:28:48. > :28:51.It's been a good match. What was good about that one is Johnson said,
:28:52. > :29:01.if I'm going to lose this point, I'm going to lose it with my strength.
:29:02. > :29:15.Uh-oh. Those are two fine points under pressure. Now it reverts to
:29:16. > :29:17.the shoulders of Dimitrov. This time break mirrors the first
:29:18. > :29:29.set, very little between these two. Look for Johnson to rip a forehand,
:29:30. > :29:46.if the ball sits up a bit. Really good second serve from
:29:47. > :29:49.Dimitrov, didn't allow Johnson to take control of the point. The
:29:50. > :29:54.excess kick made it difficult to run around that one to hit the forehand.
:29:55. > :30:33.Dimitrov took control and dictated play. That's when he's at his best.
:30:34. > :30:37.One of the more vocal players on tour. Always geeing himself up,
:30:38. > :31:07.Steve Johnson. That drew chalk, that ball hit right
:31:08. > :31:11.on the sideline. You can see how heavy the Johnson forehand is.
:31:12. > :31:14.Dimitrov trying to get it to the backhand but he can't find it and
:31:15. > :31:20.that's just too much ground to cover. This is strength against
:31:21. > :31:26.speed right now. Oh, look who's back, our little friend. Speaking of
:31:27. > :31:40.speed, there's a lot of speed with that little guy.
:31:41. > :31:52.Too good. Wonderful volley. That was not easy. Steve Johnson had to get
:31:53. > :32:02.download. Here it is. Johnson is ready for it -- get down low. Strong
:32:03. > :32:08.tie-break for the servers. But set point. Dimitrov couldn't do this
:32:09. > :32:20.kind of moment yesterday because of the slipperiness of the court.
:32:21. > :32:32.No. Boo-boo. That was the mistake. Well, he does well to get it back
:32:33. > :32:39.but you would expect him to maybe rip the forehand. He tried a
:32:40. > :32:46.top-spin lob and wasn't able to, wasn't able to execute it. Tony in
:32:47. > :32:51.the sunglasses is the manager of Roger Federer, sitting next to Steve
:32:52. > :32:57.Johnson's dad, taking a keen interest in the young America. The
:32:58. > :33:02.winner of this one against Roger in the next round after his straight
:33:03. > :33:17.sets win over Dan Evans. This one is tight, 6-6 in the tie-break.
:33:18. > :33:23.Not only was that a very difficult shot to try, he hurt himself because
:33:24. > :33:30.he was running so far wide to not have to hit a backhand. And he's a
:33:31. > :33:36.big man, fell hard, almost did the splits actually. Thumbs up from
:33:37. > :33:43.Johnson. He could do with a little seat. Well, he's six feet and two
:33:44. > :33:53.inches, he weighs 190. And on the grass, to be able to run around from
:33:54. > :33:57.that magnitude is not easy. That's how difficult it is to find the
:33:58. > :34:02.Johnson backhand. He's really adept at running around it, but you've got
:34:03. > :34:11.to hand it to Dimitrov. 13 and a half stone in British weight.
:34:12. > :34:19.Catering for both sides of the land. -- both sides of the Atlantic.
:34:20. > :34:25.And there is the first set foot Grigor Dimitrov. In just under an
:34:26. > :34:31.hour. Steve Johnson put so much into that and got nothing out of it. The
:34:32. > :34:35.Bulgarian is ahead on court 18. STUDIO: Delightfully dinitrophenol
:34:36. > :34:40.his fans, Steve Johnson, a very untimely fall. Wanted to show you
:34:41. > :34:45.the conditions outside, there are blue skies. Hopefully the heavy rain
:34:46. > :34:51.shower we had five minutes ago maybe all that was in store for the time
:34:52. > :34:55.being. On Court One Novak Djokovic resumed this morning 2-0 down
:34:56. > :35:00.against Sam Clary. He is a double break up in the third set. So the
:35:01. > :35:05.fightback starting exactly how he wanted it to. That is the scene on
:35:06. > :35:08.Court One with the tent up so it will be awhile before they resume
:35:09. > :35:15.play, there. Play on Centre Court not due start until 1pm, after the
:35:16. > :35:19.Parade of champions. We are catching up on the action from earlier this
:35:20. > :35:21.morning, and let's resume this fascinating contrast of styles,
:35:22. > :35:29.Steve Johnson against Grigor Dimitrov. The second set also going
:35:30. > :35:43.to a tie-break, let's pick it up with the commentators.
:35:44. > :35:58.COMMENTATOR: Missed it. Missed it long. That the big hope from
:35:59. > :36:03.Johnson, challenging. It's long. I can see it from up here, our vantage
:36:04. > :36:12.point, pretty sure about it. Way out. What Dimitrov has been able to
:36:13. > :36:15.do really well is absorbed the power and not play too defensively, he has
:36:16. > :36:19.absorbed it and pushed it back with some interest behind.
:36:20. > :36:31.Missed that one. That was a little bit of charity.
:36:32. > :36:39.Well, if you are Dimitrov, you realise the importance of going up
:36:40. > :36:42.two sets to none, you will feel pretty invincible if you are Johnson
:36:43. > :36:50.you are thinking I've got to have this set if I am going to win the
:36:51. > :37:08.match. Shout of "Oh no" from Steve Johnson.
:37:09. > :37:16.Well, now is when you stand up and you have to deliver. You have to
:37:17. > :37:17.take your game to its highest level. Dimitrov is playing well, and Steve
:37:18. > :37:59.Johnson has to find a way. Great shot from Johnson, what
:38:00. > :38:04.happens! -- what hands. Played right at the feet of the American, and
:38:05. > :38:12.soft handed over a half-volley, couldn't have come at a more crucial
:38:13. > :38:18.moment. Yeah, handling the pressure, there. Peter Smith, his old coach,
:38:19. > :38:36.would have loved that play. Wow, taking it up a notch. He is
:38:37. > :38:43.actually taking the level up. I said he was going to need to dig down
:38:44. > :38:48.deep. For our viewers in the United Kingdom, USC being the University of
:38:49. > :38:52.Southern California which to most people over here is probably most
:38:53. > :38:58.famous for being the marching band in the Fleetwood Mac song Tusk in
:38:59. > :39:06.1979. Good reference, good knowledge. Good song. So a little
:39:07. > :39:11.glimmer of light now for Steve Johnson. Work to be done for
:39:12. > :39:28.Dimitrov. Mini-break down at 2-4 in the tie-break. Wow, spectacular.
:39:29. > :39:32.Just when I said he needs to find something else, digging down, he has
:39:33. > :39:37.hit three massive shots three points in a row. Could have been an easy
:39:38. > :39:42.backhand but it wouldn't have had any of the power from running around
:39:43. > :39:43.it and smashing the forehand. He's a very different player when he's on
:39:44. > :40:04.the offensive. And now a bucket full of set points
:40:05. > :40:08.for Steve Johnson. The other thing that happens if you are Dimitrov,
:40:09. > :40:12.you see somebody hit shots like that under pressure, it makes you come
:40:13. > :40:17.out of your comfort zone and try to do things you are not adept at
:40:18. > :40:21.doing. He missed that backhand by a mile. He typically wouldn't go up
:40:22. > :40:31.the line, there. Steve Johnson has taken it to a different level, he is
:40:32. > :40:35.being rewarded right now. It actually started way wide, clipped
:40:36. > :40:41.the net, came back in, but didn't come back enough. Quick second set
:40:42. > :40:48.compared to the first, the tie-break, only 45 minutes in, first
:40:49. > :41:01.one taking 59 minutes. Johnson still with three set points.
:41:02. > :41:19.It looked long. No overruled from the chair. Let's find out. It was
:41:20. > :41:31.long, yes. That's why Hawk-Eye is so invaluable.
:41:32. > :41:41.Yes, two good. Just as the wind got up in that point, Steve Johnson
:41:42. > :41:47.level things up at one set all. A 3-set shoot out to come. STUDIO: And
:41:48. > :41:50.you get the feeling a lot more to come from that match. Timed it
:41:51. > :41:56.perfectly because the rain started to fall just at the end of that
:41:57. > :41:59.tie-break so they will resume 1-1, Dimitrov and Steve Johnson, with
:42:00. > :42:05.that massive forehand. Those are very promising skies. Packed day
:42:06. > :42:10.here on Saturday, many hoping they will apply online and come through
:42:11. > :42:15.tomorrow as well. Andrew Castle is with me in the studio, how are you?
:42:16. > :42:22.I'm all right, thank you. Quite a long way away from number one Court.
:42:23. > :42:25.Hopefully they will get out again. Hasn't Djokovic been unbelievable
:42:26. > :42:29.compared to yesterday? Quite extraordinary. Fairly tight first
:42:30. > :42:34.set but the second set Djokovic was all over the set. I don't know where
:42:35. > :42:40.he was, Tim Henman had a theory he was shocked at how well Sammut query
:42:41. > :42:44.was playing. Despite players saying I just want to play my game, you
:42:45. > :42:49.have to reflect what is happening on the other side. I thought Djokovic
:42:50. > :42:53.was in a worse state, I thought something was wrong with him,
:42:54. > :42:58.certainly his concentration was shot, but you see how quickly it can
:42:59. > :43:01.happen, 16 minutes, he held his own serve at the beginning of the third
:43:02. > :43:06.set trying to mount a comeback from 30-30. Sam Querrey made a couple of
:43:07. > :43:11.mistakes and that's how quickly a set can go. If it goes two sets to
:43:12. > :43:16.one I would think Djokovic would go favourite. It is amazing how
:43:17. > :43:19.different he has been today from yesterday. Looking at some of the
:43:20. > :43:23.moment in the second set, he looked out of sorts, as if something might
:43:24. > :43:29.be wrong. This was the first set actually. But the whole way through,
:43:30. > :43:34.very surprising. It was one of those days, wasn't it? We had Venus
:43:35. > :43:38.Williams on beforehand, a long match, it was on and off, and it
:43:39. > :43:42.looked like it was going to be over and then it wasn't, a lot of waiting
:43:43. > :43:46.around. You can lose a lot of energy. It admittedly both players
:43:47. > :43:50.are experienced but it is a bit of 11 having to wait that long, coming
:43:51. > :43:55.out late in the evening, you are not sure and the referee says yes, the
:43:56. > :43:59.forecast looks good. You have an opponent in Sam Querrey who has a
:44:00. > :44:03.sense of invincibility against them. He came back against Lukas Rosol in
:44:04. > :44:07.round one from two sets down a winning 12-10 in the fifth, and he
:44:08. > :44:12.has no worries. He is armed with a huge serve and even his weak side,
:44:13. > :44:16.his backhand, was finding the mark, and it's very frustrating. That's
:44:17. > :44:20.the way it finished. Had play continued last night and it hadn't
:44:21. > :44:25.rained when it did, would we now be talking about Djokovic out of
:44:26. > :44:29.Wimbledon? Well, it's one of those things where I think you probably
:44:30. > :44:32.would have, when faced with defeat, he probably would have fired up the
:44:33. > :44:36.internal engine, the crisis motivation part of it might have
:44:37. > :44:42.ignited and he might have been able to win a game or two. This was him
:44:43. > :44:47.practising this morning, against a junior, and didn't look in great
:44:48. > :44:52.form. Started the match again and started really well, but Boris
:44:53. > :44:57.really trying to get him up. Well, you know, this is where you cannot
:44:58. > :45:00.be a pushover as a coach. I like the fact Boris is right there, saying,
:45:01. > :45:07.this is the deal, giving him some direction. If Novak is unhappy, of
:45:08. > :45:10.course you cannot be perfection the whole time. Everybody, when they
:45:11. > :45:13.have to play seven matches over a two-week period, one of those
:45:14. > :45:18.matches at least will be bad and you've just got to get through it.
:45:19. > :45:24.Last year it was Kevin Anderson at Wimbledon. We remember Federer in
:45:25. > :45:28.the final when Novak is the top man, but every champion has to go through
:45:29. > :45:33.a low when you have to win playing ugly. Exactly. He has come back
:45:34. > :45:37.today, they started at midday, winning the first four games of that
:45:38. > :45:47.set, is that Djokovic suddenly playing well, or is Sam feeling
:45:48. > :45:50.tight? I was looking at the form of Djokovic in the first game, and he
:45:51. > :45:57.looked a bit floppy. Winning from 30-30. Couple of Mrs from Sam
:45:58. > :46:03.Querrey, and suddenly how quickly it turns around. This is the delicate
:46:04. > :46:08.balance that exists in Amat and it is why concentration is always at an
:46:09. > :46:11.absolute premium. Sun has never beaten the world number one before,
:46:12. > :46:14.you will have been thinking about his possibilities, into the winners
:46:15. > :46:19.circle for the first time in a while. He has won at Queen's before.
:46:20. > :46:24.But he is bound get nervous closing in on the finishing line. At 2-0 in
:46:25. > :46:28.bed he would have been thinking, this is good, but when you will come
:46:29. > :46:33.out the next they and want something really badly sometimes it does not
:46:34. > :46:38.work for you. Djokovic was hardly getting a point on Querrey's serve
:46:39. > :46:44.but suddenly he is two breaks down. Not much of a return for Sam, he is
:46:45. > :46:50.unlucky to be 4-0 down. Novak Djokovic, the very last point, tried
:46:51. > :46:56.to rush. All these little things, and he lost the last point. So 0-15.
:46:57. > :47:00.You have to think this will probably go the distance. It will be a
:47:01. > :47:04.fascinating match to watch. Andrew will be back on commentary with Tim
:47:05. > :47:08.Henman and we will be following it. Outside the sky is looking brighter,
:47:09. > :47:12.the roof is closed on Centre Court to ensure play can start at 1pm.
:47:13. > :47:18.Before it we will have a galaxy of sporting stars among those watching
:47:19. > :47:21.what we hope will be a fabulous day 's play including Andy Murray,
:47:22. > :47:33.hoping to continue his love affair with Wimbledon.
:47:34. > :47:46.Job done! A tour to force from Andy Murray. Even by his standards that
:47:47. > :48:04.was something special. Some serious body blows.
:48:05. > :48:09.Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to Centre Court, and in keeping with
:48:10. > :48:14.tradition on this middle Saturday of the Championships, the chairman of
:48:15. > :48:20.the All-England Club, Philip Brooke, has invited guests from the world of
:48:21. > :48:25.sport to Royal box. Opening the batting for our sporting guests are
:48:26. > :48:29.five stars of world cricket. A player who captained England in more
:48:30. > :48:33.than 200 internationals, breaking countless records and putting
:48:34. > :48:40.women's cricket on the map. The current New Zealand skipper who was
:48:41. > :48:44.named Cricketer of the Year in 2015. Two bowlers who have led England's
:48:45. > :48:50.attack over the last decade and who are both top of the test rankings
:48:51. > :48:54.this year. And a batsman who made more than 8000 test runs in his
:48:55. > :48:58.playing career and is now renowned as a straight talking commentator.
:48:59. > :49:02.These welcome Charlotte Edwards, Suzie Bates, Jimmy Anderson, Stuart
:49:03. > :49:24.Broad and Geoffrey Boycott. Now let's salute two of Britain's
:49:25. > :49:27.finest fighters. She is the first female Olympic and Commonwealth
:49:28. > :49:31.boxing champion and in May she added the world title to her list of
:49:32. > :49:36.honours. And a former four-time super middleweight world champion
:49:37. > :49:39.who is also celebrating his birthday today. Give them a special welcome,
:49:40. > :49:55.Nicola Adam Zampa Carl Froch. -- Nicole Adams and Carl Froch. From
:49:56. > :49:59.boxing to two players who packed a punch on the rugby field. Who
:50:00. > :50:03.captained their countries and their British and Irish Lions with great
:50:04. > :50:06.distension. He was a no-nonsense block who led England to Grand Slam
:50:07. > :50:12.victory and who is now the head of world rugby. And he's a former Irish
:50:13. > :50:16.centre, the second most capped player in rugby union history,
:50:17. > :50:31.please welcome Bill Beaumont and Brian O'Driscoll.
:50:32. > :50:38.The real Olympics begin in just 34 days' time and we are delighted to
:50:39. > :50:43.be joined by two stars from games past. A woman who so memorably
:50:44. > :50:52.struck heptathlon gold at the Sydney Olympics 16 years ago. And a record
:50:53. > :50:57.six times gold medal winning cyclist who switched from spending on two
:50:58. > :51:03.wheels to endurance events on four, recently completing the Le Monde
:51:04. > :51:05.24-hour race. Centre Court, say hello to Denise Lewis and Sir Chris
:51:06. > :51:28.Joya. -- Sir Chris Hoy. This year sees the inaugural
:51:29. > :51:32.wheelchair singles competition at Wimbledon and we are joined by two
:51:33. > :51:39.of the British contenders who will also compete at the Paralympics in
:51:40. > :51:42.Rio. First, a young Scot who won his first Grand Slam singles title in
:51:43. > :51:46.Australia earlier this year. We are also joined by the reigning US Open
:51:47. > :51:50.champion who completed a memorable calendar Grand Slam in doubles two
:51:51. > :52:06.years ago. It's Gordon Reid and Jordan Wiley.
:52:07. > :52:13.This month marks the 50th anniversary of England's finest
:52:14. > :52:18.footballing power, winning the 1966 World Cup. We are thrilled to be
:52:19. > :52:24.joined by some of the victorious squad members from that historic
:52:25. > :52:29.summer. Please welcome Gordan Banks, Sir Bobby Charlton, Ron Flowers,
:52:30. > :52:32.Roger Hunt, Sir Geoff Hurst and representing Captain Bobby Moore
:52:33. > :52:33.Fund the founder of the charity named in his honour, his widow,
:52:34. > :52:59.Stephanie. Or so here is an England captain
:53:00. > :53:05.from more recent times. He was a midfielder who earned 115 cats, won
:53:06. > :53:07.league titles in four different countries and in the process became
:53:08. > :53:11.one of the most recognised sportsmen on the planet. Ladies and abdomen,
:53:12. > :53:16.it's David Beckham. -- ladies and gentlemen, it's David
:53:17. > :53:41.Beckham. Being here at Wimbledon, it's even
:53:42. > :53:45.more appropriate that we welcome some more guests from the world of
:53:46. > :53:49.tennis. First a former Fed cup captain who has been a driving force
:53:50. > :53:52.in developing the game at the grassroots and national level, and
:53:53. > :53:57.she is also the mother of two Grand Slam champions. Ladies and
:53:58. > :54:13.gentlemen, it is Judy Murray. Now to two all time greats of the
:54:14. > :54:17.women's game, who, between them, have an astonishing 30 Wimbledon
:54:18. > :54:21.titles in singles and doubles. This very day 50 years ago this legend
:54:22. > :54:27.won her first Grand Slam singles title here and she went on to change
:54:28. > :54:35.the game both on and off the court. Also here today, an Australian who
:54:36. > :54:41.over the course of the 1960s and 70s won 24 grand singles titles, an
:54:42. > :54:45.incredible record that still stands. Welcome them back to Centre Court.
:54:46. > :55:02.It's Billie Jean King and Margaret Court.
:55:03. > :55:08.And our final sporting guests are three legends of the game who know
:55:09. > :55:13.what it's like to lift the trophy on this famous court. An Australian
:55:14. > :55:20.whose victory at Wimbledon in 1958 was one of three grand slam titles
:55:21. > :55:23.he won that year. A Spaniard who, 50 years ago, wild Centre Court with
:55:24. > :55:30.his magic touch to become the first player from his country to win
:55:31. > :55:32.Wimbledon. It's 35 years now since this American won his first
:55:33. > :55:38.Wimbledon title, and he's been calling the shots on and off the
:55:39. > :55:43.court ever since. Give them a special welcome to Centaur court,
:55:44. > :56:08.Ashley-Cooper, Manuel Santana, and the one and only John McEnroe.
:56:09. > :56:15.OK, Mac, you made it the Royal box, now get back to work! The
:56:16. > :56:18.All-England Club has a long and proud association with the Armed
:56:19. > :56:22.Forces and we are honoured today to be joined by one of the very few
:56:23. > :56:25.female pilots who served in the Second World War. Among the aircraft
:56:26. > :56:29.she flew were Spitfires and hurricanes. Centre Court, please
:56:30. > :57:04.show your appreciation for Joy Lofthouse.
:57:05. > :57:11.Since the end of World War II, the Armed Forces have provided volunteer
:57:12. > :57:14.stewards at the Championships. Many of the military here today have
:57:15. > :57:19.recently served their country on operational duty all over the world,
:57:20. > :57:24.showing their professionalism and dedication in the most demanding of
:57:25. > :57:28.circumstances. This is also the London Fire Brigade's 150th
:57:29. > :57:31.anniversary, and for more than 50 years they have been providing
:57:32. > :57:35.stewards to Wimbledon. We thank them for their support in keeping the
:57:36. > :57:40.Championships and London safe. We are honoured to have them with us
:57:41. > :58:19.today. Please say a special Centre Court thank you to all of them.
:58:20. > :58:26.And finally, please welcome onto court the team that rewrote sporting
:58:27. > :58:29.history and the end of last year. Led by their captain Leon Smith and
:58:30. > :58:40.some of the members of Great Britain's victorious Davis Cup team.
:58:41. > :58:49.Led on by Leon Smith, James Vaughan, Dan Evans, Kyle Edmund and Jamie
:58:50. > :58:54.Murray. Please show your PC a shame for Great Britain's Davis Cup
:58:55. > :58:58.winning team and to all of the special guests in the Royal box.
:58:59. > :59:22.Everybody here have a great day on Centre Court.
:59:23. > :01:02.# A perfect halo of cold air and lightning
:01:03. > :01:14.# Sets you off against the planet's last dance Time, please.
:01:15. > :01:31.COMMENTATOR: What a great reaction. You simply cannot give more. It's
:01:32. > :01:40.in! The waiting is over. That is way too good. Oh, I don't believe. It
:01:41. > :01:43.It's in! That's it. She's done it. The queen of Centre Court.
:01:44. > :01:57.Unbelievable shot. # The silver forked sky
:01:58. > :02:05.# Lit you up like a star # That I will follow
:02:06. > :02:11.SUE BARKER: It is always a special day this middle day of the
:02:12. > :02:14.championships. An extra treat to have so many special guests in the
:02:15. > :02:20.Royal Box. Very moving. Very emotional. Joy Lofthouse. Flew the
:02:21. > :02:24.Spitfires, wow. And hurricanes. Tharchlts is a hero. -- That is a
:02:25. > :02:28.hero. Incredible. So many of those stories bring tears. Lovely to see
:02:29. > :02:39.the great tennis champions honoured as well. Billy Jean king. And of
:02:40. > :02:44.course, John McEnroe! He said it's taken him 37 years or something to
:02:45. > :02:49.get there. He's finally there and he's doing commentary later. He has
:02:50. > :02:53.three or four TV station that's he works for. Pattie was telling him,
:02:54. > :02:57.do your jacket up. Look proper. Here they come for the first match under
:02:58. > :03:04.the roof. Simona Halep and Kiki Bertens.
:03:05. > :03:15.APPLAUSE This could be a very tight match
:03:16. > :03:20.indeed. Simona Halep the number five seed. They was a semifinalists here
:03:21. > :03:25.two years ago. She's up against Kiki Bertens of the Netherlands, a
:03:26. > :03:29.semifinalist at the French Open. She has a big serve. That will be
:03:30. > :03:32.effective on the grass court. An interesting match here on Centre
:03:33. > :03:37.Court. We're happy to be under the roof. It's not too nice outside
:03:38. > :03:41.there once again. The rain is falling down and the covers are
:03:42. > :03:45.onful it's looking brighter -- are on. It's looking brighter. We heard
:03:46. > :03:50.there would be a few showers today. Hopefully they have moved away and
:03:51. > :03:55.we'll get play on outside courts. Everyone's been keen to see what
:03:56. > :03:58.happens out on Court No 1. Novak Djokovic, when rain stopped play
:03:59. > :04:02.there last night, two sets down, totally out of the match to Sam
:04:03. > :04:08.Querrey. But he's come out firing today. 4-0 up in the third set. So
:04:09. > :04:11.the world number one, the man who's looked unbeatable in the majors over
:04:12. > :04:16.the past 12 months, is fighting back. You can never, ever count him
:04:17. > :04:21.out. Absolutely not. We saw him a couple of years ago down 2-1 against
:04:22. > :04:26.Marin Cilic on court one, came back. Last year against Kevin Anderson,
:04:27. > :04:30.another huge server, down 2-0 and came back. The rain saved Novak last
:04:31. > :04:34.night. Because he did not look stellar in that second set, after
:04:35. > :04:38.losing the first set. I was worried when I saw his practice session this
:04:39. > :04:42.morning. It looked lacklustre and not really interested. Johnny Mac
:04:43. > :04:47.said don't worry about that. Of course, he's right. Do I have to
:04:48. > :04:52.tell him? We expect with the score line coming out to date Novak to
:04:53. > :04:56.win. He's won 30 consecutive Grand Slam matches. He's hopefully on the
:04:57. > :05:02.way to a calendar year Grand Slam. That hasn't been done in a long time
:05:03. > :05:05.in our sport. Serena almost got it last year. There's extra pressure
:05:06. > :05:10.because of that. I thought maybe he was ill. I never doubt that he would
:05:11. > :05:15.fight back, but I wonderful whether something physically was wrong. But
:05:16. > :05:19.he is fighting back. This could be a really tight match between Halep and
:05:20. > :05:22.Bertens. Absolutely. You never know with Simona Halep, she's been so up
:05:23. > :05:25.and down. She was down at the beginning of the year, lost in the
:05:26. > :05:30.first round at the Australian Open it a qualifier. Finally got it back
:05:31. > :05:33.together at Indian Wells getting to the quarters there, Miami quarters
:05:34. > :05:38.and won Madrid. Simona Halep again has been up and down, hasn't been
:05:39. > :05:41.able to sustain the able level of play and Kiki Bertens, now this is a
:05:42. > :05:46.wonderful back story. She had ankle surgery a couple of years ago. She
:05:47. > :05:51.was outside the top 50. Nuremberg this year she was in the qualifying,
:05:52. > :05:54.got through that. Won the title in singles and doubles and so much
:05:55. > :06:01.confidence goes into the French Open, takes out Angelique Kerber in
:06:02. > :06:04.the first round. Then pushing Serena in the semifinals. You can't make
:06:05. > :06:07.this stuff up. These are the stories we love in sport. She goes from
:06:08. > :06:11.being 58 in the world to being seeded here at Wimbledon. Really a
:06:12. > :06:15.dangerous player in the early rounds. We've seen so many shocks
:06:16. > :06:22.here as well, with Garbine Muguruza going out. So many seeds falling.
:06:23. > :06:26.You don't really know, I mean Serena and Venus are through, but you don't
:06:27. > :06:30.know who will get through to the semifinal stages That's the way
:06:31. > :06:34.women's tennis has been for a few years. But it's accentuated this
:06:35. > :06:43.year. In Doha, past the second round no seeds left in the draw. It's been
:06:44. > :06:46.quite topsy turvy. None of the players besides Serena have held
:06:47. > :06:55.their level. One result from earlier today, before the rain came down, is
:06:56. > :07:00.American Sloane Stephens. She came through, a tough match for her. She
:07:01. > :07:05.lost the first set 3-6, won a tight tie-break in the second. Then 8-6 in
:07:06. > :07:08.the third set. Look at these long rallies that the players had to go
:07:09. > :07:13.through. It was a really tough match for both. It's Sloane Stephens who
:07:14. > :07:17.goes through and she's into the third round to face Svetlana
:07:18. > :07:21.Kuznetsova. So how impressed have you been? I've been impressed she's
:07:22. > :07:25.won a couple of titles this year. Then she goes off and loseserlily as
:07:26. > :07:30.well. It's the same story that we've seen. She has so much talent, a
:07:31. > :07:34.massive serve, huge fire power off both wings, particularly the
:07:35. > :07:37.forehand. An incredible athlete. Great defensive skills. Sometimes
:07:38. > :07:41.use that's too much, where she reverts too far behind the baseline.
:07:42. > :07:46.I'm still expecting big things from her. At her highest she can push
:07:47. > :07:49.anybody on the tour. Who would be your pick coming over, we haven't
:07:50. > :07:54.finished the first week, but who's impressed the most? Gosh, it's tough
:07:55. > :07:57.to say. Radwanska got through that match yesterday. She said sometimes
:07:58. > :08:01.when you have a match like that, you're playing with house money and
:08:02. > :08:06.you kind of relax. Kerber has been playing pretty well as well. It's
:08:07. > :08:10.really tough to pick because you've got Madison Keys would went three
:08:11. > :08:14.sets with Kirsten Flipkens. I think she is a Wimbledon champion someday.
:08:15. > :08:18.This year, I'm not sure, but she has the fire power and game to do. It
:08:19. > :08:21.that makes it so interesting the story lines. Serena was pushed as
:08:22. > :08:25.well. She looked down and out at some points. She finds a way to win,
:08:26. > :08:30.as she always does. Such a great competitor. Her back against the
:08:31. > :08:34.wall, it seems Serena likes that position almost the most, where she
:08:35. > :08:36.can go into warrior mode and challenge herself and figure a way
:08:37. > :08:40.to win. Of course, that serve, that's so helpful to have in her
:08:41. > :08:47.back pocket because at the end she serves three aces to finish the
:08:48. > :08:51.match 6-4 in the third. Eugenie Bouchard impressive against Jo Konta
:08:52. > :08:55.as well. Simona Halep looked like she would go to the top of the world
:08:56. > :09:00.rankings, slipped a bit. She's always dangerous, moves so well. She
:09:01. > :09:06.hits the ball so accurately, very solid. A clean ball striker. Doesn't
:09:07. > :09:08.have a big serve. But has got to as high as number two in the world.
:09:09. > :09:12.She's always going to be dangerous. You mention a former semifinalist
:09:13. > :09:17.here a couple of years ago. She knows she can play on this surface.
:09:18. > :09:21.Bertens, massive serve, fire power off both backhand and forehand. Last
:09:22. > :09:25.year, if you remember, she played Petra Kvitova in the first round
:09:26. > :09:28.when Petra was the defending champion. Bertens only won one game.
:09:29. > :09:32.It was a quick match. She has to have the power but also the
:09:33. > :09:36.consistency. Yeah, and handle this court. You know, when players walk
:09:37. > :09:40.onto this court, this court has a different feel to it. Just before
:09:41. > :09:43.you even walk onto the court, just the room before with the trophies
:09:44. > :09:47.there and all the champions' names on the wall, it brings extra goose
:09:48. > :09:52.bumps and nerves. Very important for her to have a quick start. I was
:09:53. > :09:56.nervous just doing the presentation - I wasn't even playing! We're ready
:09:57. > :10:00.for the first match. So thankful for the roof this week, because we have
:10:01. > :10:03.tennis to bring you. Tracey, thank you very much. Andy Murray will be
:10:04. > :10:08.on court later this afternoon, after this match. He's the second match up
:10:09. > :10:11.against John Millman of Australia. Murray the second match on centre.
:10:12. > :10:16.We're here for Halep against Bertens and Tracey is on her way to join
:10:17. > :10:21.David Mercer. COMMENTATOR: Always a special day
:10:22. > :10:25.now the middle Saturday of the championships with a host of great
:10:26. > :10:30.sporting champions from around the world in the world box, including,
:10:31. > :10:43.of course, arguably one of the most famous sportsmen in the world, David
:10:44. > :10:58.Beckham. Sir Bobby Charlton, Sir Geoff Hirst. Memories of 1966.
:10:59. > :12:19.Bertens won the spin of the coin and chose to receive.
:12:20. > :12:25.What a difference a year makes for Kiki Bertens, just that one game
:12:26. > :12:49.against Petra Kvitova last year. Now, a chance to start with a break.
:12:50. > :13:28.Simona Halep a semifinalist here two years ago, lost to Eugenie Bouchard.
:13:29. > :13:33.Nicely done, a lot of topspin on that approach. Didn't have much
:13:34. > :14:00.court to work with there, firm volley.
:14:01. > :14:10.A terrific start for Kiki Bertens, who at the end of last year, was
:14:11. > :14:18.ranked outside the top 100. Now inside the top 30. Similar to our Jo
:14:19. > :14:20.Konta. Wins the singles and doubles. Goes to Roland Garros beats
:14:21. > :14:27.Angelique Kerber in the first round and goes all the way to the semis.
:14:28. > :14:32.Just an incredible story. She really gained so much confidence from
:14:33. > :14:36.winning seven matches in Nuremberg. And the doubleds as well. That's a
:14:37. > :14:39.lot of tennis before the French. Wasn't fatigued. She did get a calf
:14:40. > :15:04.strain in the quarter finals. I kept expecting Bertens to have a
:15:05. > :15:05.let down after beating Kerber in the first round, Madison Keys along the
:15:06. > :15:41.way as well. Simona Halep, it's very important
:15:42. > :16:07.for her to hug the baseline and hit the ball early.
:16:08. > :16:13.Because Halep doesn't have the raw power as some of the other elite
:16:14. > :16:30.players, she needs to hit the ball early to rob her opponents of time.
:16:31. > :16:51.Tall woman, Kiki Bertens, standing six feet, 1. 82 metres.
:16:52. > :17:02.Oh, a nasty slip. Halep is a wonderful mover on the court. No
:17:03. > :17:09.damage to Bertens. That was a phenomenal drop shot. Not many would
:17:10. > :17:48.be able to track that ball down. That's always scary.
:17:49. > :17:52.Darren Cahill, coach of Halep, very fine Australian player. Very good
:17:53. > :18:27.commentator as well. These two have met just once before
:18:28. > :18:31.at tour level. That was in 2012 on the clay courts in Morocco in the
:18:32. > :18:44.semifinals. Bertens won in straight sets.
:18:45. > :18:52.That's an overrule. And Simona Halep is challenging the umpire's
:18:53. > :18:58.overrule. Line judge called it good. I have a feeling he won't overrule
:18:59. > :19:37.too quickly again in this match. Halep has one of the sweetest back
:19:38. > :20:14.hands on tour. It's her bigger weapon.
:20:15. > :20:22.Billie Jean King. Great to see the champions in the house. Margaret
:20:23. > :20:26.Court, saw her at a barbeque last night, her husband Barry.
:20:27. > :20:32.Really special for them to come back as well. Margaret, 24 major singles
:20:33. > :21:17.titles, the record. A good recovery from Simona Halep,
:21:18. > :21:20.the number five seed, against the number 26 seed. Because of course,
:21:21. > :21:27.with 32 seeds in the draw, once you get to the third round, the last 32,
:21:28. > :21:32.the seeds start playing each other. The winner of this match will play
:21:33. > :21:43.either Madison Keys, the number nine seed, or the unseeded French woman,
:21:44. > :21:47.Alize Cornet. Lovely, complete player Halep, but as you say,
:21:48. > :21:55.lacking the overwhelming power of some of her rivals at the top of the
:21:56. > :21:56.game. At 5'6", well, there's nothing wrong with good little-'uns, as you
:21:57. > :22:15.would say. That's right. The nickname is
:22:16. > :22:27.Killer. The one I really like was Ken Roswall, which was Muscles. That
:22:28. > :22:31.is a terrific tennis mind in Cahill. Another Australian, Ashley Cooper,
:22:32. > :22:37.the champion here in 1958, beat Neil phraser in that final. Just in front
:22:38. > :22:40.of him Johnny Mac. He's skiving today. What's he doing up there? !
:22:41. > :22:56.Let's see how long he can sit still. Looking at a tall Dutch woman in
:22:57. > :23:01.Bertens, I suppose, inevitably my mind goes back to the 1977 final,
:23:02. > :23:49.Betty Stover against Virginia Wade. Very close, as you were saying, I
:23:50. > :24:32.don't think the umpire will be overruling any time soon.
:24:33. > :24:54.That was the coach of Kiki Bertens. Is that a Yankees cap he's wearing?
:24:55. > :25:20.He was also a top professional on the ATP Tour.
:25:21. > :25:26.Great to see Halep hitting her forehand so well. That's the
:25:27. > :25:58.barometer for me. The backhand is usually on and accurate.
:25:59. > :26:03.That forehand just not enough on it from Halep. Left hanging in the
:26:04. > :26:04.middle of the court. Bertens attacking with a little more
:26:05. > :26:28.penetration. Often times you see the more
:26:29. > :26:30.diminutive players are so quick. They have to make up for that loss
:26:31. > :27:10.in size. Beautiful play from both of them.
:27:11. > :27:18.Great start from Bertens, not overwhelmed by the situation.
:27:19. > :27:21.Hall hall a lot more experience on big courts in the last three, four
:27:22. > :28:18.years. It has to be that good to prevent
:28:19. > :28:23.Halep getting to it. Halep will go almost every time on the running
:28:24. > :28:58.cross. Bertens there, plenty of time.
:28:59. > :29:05.Bertens already winning more games than on her previous appearance on
:29:06. > :29:21.the Centre Court. She'll be relieved about that.
:29:22. > :29:30.Such a different player a year on, at 24 years old. A lot's gone on in
:29:31. > :29:45.her life in the last couple of years. She had ankle surgery.
:29:46. > :29:52.A couple of things turned her career around. First, spending three weeks
:29:53. > :29:56.alone at the beginning of the preseason working out three times a
:29:57. > :30:19.day, no tennis. Her fitness got better.
:30:20. > :30:29.The other was in Rabat at the beginning of the clay-court season,
:30:30. > :30:32.she had a match point in the semifinal and lost, she had a long
:30:33. > :30:37.talk with her coach afterwards and said she was always so stressed out.
:30:38. > :30:43.From then on they were just going to do the best that they could every
:30:44. > :31:15.single day. Go back and take the pressure off.
:31:16. > :31:29.Brilliant. Lovely exploitation of the angle provided by her opponent.
:31:30. > :31:51.Just an incredible mover and athlete.
:31:52. > :32:00.It seems to me that the women's game is in a state of flux at the moment.
:32:01. > :32:05.Serena is not the dominant force she was a year ago. Still very much the
:32:06. > :32:10.world number one. And you are waiting for some of the younger
:32:11. > :32:15.players to come through and consistently win the big titles.
:32:16. > :32:20.We've seen them this year, Angelique Kerber wins the Australian, loses
:32:21. > :32:27.first round in the next major, Simona Halep, there are a number of
:32:28. > :32:32.them, but they are not performing at the highest level consistently.
:32:33. > :32:41.That's what you need from them. That's what we kind of expect from
:32:42. > :32:48.our champions. There is another one to add to that list, Azarenka. She
:32:49. > :32:54.came back so strong this year winning Brisbane, then winning
:32:55. > :32:59.Indian Wells, beating Serena in the finals, Sunshine double win in Miami
:33:00. > :33:02.as well, beating Kuznetsova. Being a bit of a merry-go-round after Serena
:33:03. > :34:04.Williams at the top of the game. That a key tactic for Simona Halep,
:34:05. > :34:07.go deep at the beginning of the point, somehow find a way to get the
:34:08. > :34:24.angle is built into the point, converts on the move.
:34:25. > :34:35.One thing her opponents at Roland Garros mentioned, coming up with
:34:36. > :34:43.better defence. Always known for her offence. Still can be exploited,
:34:44. > :34:49.particularly on this surface. But a few errors in this game from
:34:50. > :34:52.Bertens. And a golden opportunity for Halep to open up a two-game
:34:53. > :35:25.lead. A little error strewn, that game,
:35:26. > :36:27.from Bertens. Ooh! Oh my. How did Simona get that
:36:28. > :36:32.back? The ball was passed her. It is effort like this that staff to get
:36:33. > :36:42.in her opponent's read. I think Bertens was shocked she got it back
:36:43. > :36:51.in play -- get in her opponent's head. Halep's start to try to hit
:36:52. > :36:56.the ball too fine. Former champion from Romania, managers Halep. She
:36:57. > :36:58.had a big forehand. She was all the way in the alley hitting forehands.
:36:59. > :37:31.Couldn't get it to her backhand. A little slice, keeping low, keeping
:37:32. > :37:44.short. Didn't really get up to it, Halep. So effective, change of pace.
:37:45. > :38:10.She does chat away to herself. Not normally with approval.
:38:11. > :38:20.The opportunity for Bertens to break straight back. Not won a point on
:38:21. > :38:35.her second serve. Definitely a liability in her game.
:38:36. > :39:08.We talked about her incredible run at Roland Garros, how important it
:39:09. > :39:11.was for her psychologically to get to the semifinals, and make that
:39:12. > :39:16.huge breakthrough. One thing that has not been talked about a lot was
:39:17. > :39:24.the match she played against Daria Kasatkina, a third-round match.
:39:25. > :39:28.According to Dutch federation rules, even if you are in the Olympics
:39:29. > :39:35.based on your rankings, if you don't get to at least the fourth round of
:39:36. > :39:41.a major, they will not take you. And Bertens won 10-8 in the third, and
:39:42. > :39:46.there was so much on the line. Even in the stands people were
:39:47. > :40:37.recognising, so much emotion in the fact she did call a fine.
:40:38. > :40:46.Halep hasn't won points since she was talking to herself. So she
:40:47. > :40:57.shouldn't listen to herself, is the lesson.
:40:58. > :41:07.The lesson for me is that she has to be positive. That point she was up
:41:08. > :41:13.4-2. Little subtleties of the way players react, their emotions on
:41:14. > :41:26.Court are so telling. To much of a perfectionist, and hard on herself.
:41:27. > :41:38.Yes, I can understand that reaction from Darren Cave hill.
:41:39. > :41:59.Positive self coaching is so important between points. First
:42:00. > :42:25.double fault of the match going for a big second serve, up 40-0.
:42:26. > :42:36.Oh, Mary. Are you a great baker? You wouldn't know, she's the star of the
:42:37. > :42:38.great British bake off, do you bake cakes? A bit. We'll have to do is
:42:39. > :43:05.introduce you later. One of those moments where you put
:43:06. > :43:14.your hand up in apology and say to yourself "Yes! Can I have another of
:43:15. > :43:15.those, please?" It's not good sportsmanship, it's just expected in
:43:16. > :44:16.our game. Excellent point construction from
:44:17. > :44:19.Bertens, sliced backhand on the run. Flat backhand, deep to push Halep
:44:20. > :45:02.back. Sharp forehand angle. I like seeing Halep take time here,
:45:03. > :45:45.in a rush. -- not in a rush. Excellent white serve. Very
:45:46. > :46:20.impressive. -- wide serve. Need to get that first serve in
:46:21. > :46:23.because so far winning very few points behind second. Always that
:46:24. > :47:00.way in her matches. Huge weapon. So, Halep eases in front. And it's
:47:01. > :47:04.5-4. And it's interesting, our lovely graphics people do a great
:47:05. > :47:08.job for us, they've identified the fact that she struggles far more
:47:09. > :47:15.behind the second serve now than she was when she reached the semifinals
:47:16. > :47:25.here two years ago. You can see the difference.
:47:26. > :47:33.The other statistics showing an improvement, first serves in,
:47:34. > :47:39.terrific. Service games won a little bit down. But that is the big
:47:40. > :47:45.difference. Our players realising that's the way to attack? Coupled
:47:46. > :47:50.with the fact that she might not be going for as big a second serve.
:47:51. > :48:45.Second serve is based on confidence, willingness to go after it.
:48:46. > :48:52.Not enough depth. There's a lady who packs a punch, Nicola Adams, first
:48:53. > :49:00.lady in history to win an Olympic boxing medal. Now world champion as
:49:01. > :50:03.well. She'll be defending her title in Rio.
:50:04. > :50:16.That's beautiful hitting. Halep really on target now. Clean ball
:50:17. > :50:25.striking. Inside the baseline. Hitting the early. Big first serve,
:50:26. > :50:29.same as the first of the three set points. Goes to the towel to the
:50:30. > :50:53.group. -- regroup. Ooh, another magnificent angle, and
:50:54. > :51:17.Halep has the first set. So, five breaks of serve in that
:51:18. > :51:23.opening set. Halep's ground strokes perhaps the decisive factor. Broken
:51:24. > :51:29.in the first game but really picked it up with the 4-2 lead. Mental
:51:30. > :51:41.lapse, a bit hard on herself. Showed a great response to pick up a level,
:51:42. > :51:49.elevate. Started hitting the ball with a little extra precision and
:51:50. > :51:53.power. That's good news. You can see that outside the sun is out and I
:51:54. > :51:57.imagine play will be underway on the outside courts in the not too
:51:58. > :52:06.distant future. Have a look at the statistics. Both of them really
:52:07. > :52:12.struggling behind the second serve. First serves in, Bertens really
:52:13. > :52:19.needs to up that. She relies on that as a weapon. She might want to go
:52:20. > :52:36.just a little bigger on her second serve, take more risks.
:52:37. > :52:43.Lovely view of the lake in Wimbledon Park, all the way to the City of
:52:44. > :52:48.London. The that once you start a match the roof you complete the
:52:49. > :52:53.match under the roof, even if it is glorious sunshine outside. Might
:52:54. > :54:08.well open it, though, for the start of the Andy Murray match, next.
:54:09. > :54:44.A little bigger on the second serve, there.
:54:45. > :54:58.So, the first Love game of the match for Halep. Bertens really needs to
:54:59. > :55:02.up her game here. Otherwise Halep will race away with the second set.
:55:03. > :55:21.In good form at the moment, the Romanian.
:55:22. > :55:28.Bertens had that calf injury at Roland Garros, played the semifinals
:55:29. > :55:35.against Serena and pushed her six and four. Wasn't moving at 100%. I
:55:36. > :55:44.wonder how long it took her to get that back in shape. Talked about the
:55:45. > :56:14.ankle surgery that she had a couple of years ago.
:56:15. > :56:38.These are a lot of errors. Smiling, but not inwardly. Real mental lapse,
:56:39. > :56:44.here. A little frustrated with how Halep is playing. So consistent,
:56:45. > :57:16.tracking everything down. This is where you just wonder if
:57:17. > :57:28.Bertens not being able to play a grass court event leading up to
:57:29. > :57:41.Wimbledon is showing up. This is a whole other element.
:57:42. > :58:10.Quick points on grass, it can get away from you very quickly.
:58:11. > :58:32.That was an nifty drop shot. Even Darren is impressed. Yes!
:58:33. > :58:59.Played 12 points in this set. Halep's won 11 of them.
:59:00. > :59:12.Things can move so rapidly. Halep now so relaxed. STUDIO: We will be
:59:13. > :59:16.right back on Centre Court. Just to show you what is happening outside,
:59:17. > :59:22.everybody getting excited five minutes ago, courts uncovered, sun
:59:23. > :59:25.was out, but now another of those showers has come through Wimbledon,
:59:26. > :59:29.as Darren promised. It is supposed to last just a few minutes and
:59:30. > :59:34.hopefully we will have more of that blue sky heading our way. And all
:59:35. > :59:37.eyes will be on this court of course, Court Number One. While they
:59:38. > :59:42.have covered the outside courts, they have not covered Court Number
:59:43. > :59:45.One, not quite sure why. Maybe they do not think the rain is heavy
:59:46. > :59:53.enough to do that but certainly people have umbrellas on. But that's
:59:54. > :00:00.Novak Djokovic against Sam Querrey, who was 2-0 up insects when rain
:00:01. > :00:04.stopped play last night. -- in sets. Play will resume their shortly. We
:00:05. > :00:10.are hoping for more play in just a moment. One result is to bring you
:00:11. > :00:12.is Marian Cilic is through, defeating Lukas Lacko of Slovakia.
:00:13. > :00:19.The number nine seed through. A must-win game, you feel, for Kiki
:00:20. > :00:48.Bertens. Just spectacular hitting. Terrific
:00:49. > :01:07.technique, particularly on the backhand side.
:01:08. > :01:19.That was playing with fire. Well, just a different look. Should have
:01:20. > :01:28.been passed. It was a pretty easy one to make.
:01:29. > :01:35.She looks up. She needs to serve to catch fire.
:01:36. > :02:03.First ace of the match. A must-win game here. Because this
:02:04. > :02:07.court is so difficult to play on when you're losing this badly.
:02:08. > :02:34.You get embarrassed very quickly. The coach will be feeling for her.
:02:35. > :03:08.He'll have gone through periods like this.
:03:09. > :03:21.Missed opportunity there. First service percentage near 50%. That is
:03:22. > :03:22.very difficult playing an owe pontent as good as Simona Halep --
:03:23. > :03:43.opponent. Finding a couple of really good
:03:44. > :04:28.first serves just when Just so hard for Bertens right now
:04:29. > :04:34.to find that right ratio of offence and keeping that ball in place.
:04:35. > :04:50.Doesn't go enough and Halep is there with the answer to the corners.
:04:51. > :05:23.The first point Bertens has won against the Halep serve in this set.
:05:24. > :05:27.Hit one of these excellent drop shots in the first set and Halep
:05:28. > :05:53.tracked it down, not this time. It was her opportunity lost because
:05:54. > :05:55.it wasn't a great serve. It was short. So important in the score
:05:56. > :06:19.line. At the moment, Simona Halep cruising
:06:20. > :06:35.along very nicely indeed. Sometimes she looks pretty
:06:36. > :06:40.uncomfortable on the court these days, always getting down on
:06:41. > :06:48.herself. Because she is such a perfectionist, but not today. That's
:06:49. > :06:54.what Darren works on with her. Obviously some technique, strategy
:06:55. > :06:57.as well. But it's that active process of replacing those bad
:06:58. > :07:03.thoughts with good thoughts. And keeping the emotions in tact. That's
:07:04. > :07:11.so important. Because thoughts follow the emotions. And the actions
:07:12. > :07:15.follow the thoughts. All connected. Did you ever consult a sports
:07:16. > :07:20.psychologist during your career? I did not. More and more do these
:07:21. > :07:25.days. I could see where it could be so helpful and crucial. So many
:07:26. > :07:29.players have talked about how that was the crucial element, Jo Konta,
:07:30. > :08:25.it really turned their career around.
:08:26. > :08:31.The acoustics under the roof are such that when they really connect
:08:32. > :08:33.with the ball, it makes the most wonderful sound. The longest rally
:08:34. > :08:42.of the match, 13 shots. UMPIRE: Ball change please, new
:08:43. > :09:55.balls. Getting more first serves in doesn't
:09:56. > :10:05.half help. Cutting down on her unforced errors. Ann Jones,
:10:06. > :10:32.Britain's Wimbledon champions since the war.
:10:33. > :10:39.Kiki has an unusual backhand, extremely flat. Really doesn't get
:10:40. > :11:11.underneath the ball, just straight through the ball.
:11:12. > :11:18.Terrific hitting from Halep. We talked about the bottom half of the
:11:19. > :11:20.draw being wide-open, with Muguruza out. Halep has to be in the
:11:21. > :12:19.equation. First ace of the match from Simona
:12:20. > :12:28.Halep takes the number five seed to within one game of the Fourth Round,
:12:29. > :12:33.the round of the last 16. Bertens, even if she lose that's match, will
:12:34. > :12:42.have still had her best ever Wimbledon, so will move up the
:12:43. > :12:47.rankings even more. I'm just thinking, if it is Halep against
:12:48. > :12:52.Madison Keys, that would be a lovely contrast. The raw power of mad son
:12:53. > :12:56.who won the title in Birmingham a couple of weeks ago against the
:12:57. > :13:01.retreating skills of Halep. Absolutely. Madison Keys has two
:13:02. > :13:07.titles in her young career, both on grass. Quarter timist last year. She
:13:08. > :13:13.has a tricky opponent today in Alize Cornet, of course, beat Serena a few
:13:14. > :13:15.years back. The bottom half of the draw is interesting because there's
:13:16. > :13:40.so many possibilities and opportunities.
:13:41. > :13:45.One of those possibilities, Venus Williams, who is already in the
:13:46. > :14:59.Fourth Round. Three matches today were still in the second round.
:15:00. > :15:14.Well, keeps the match alive. Cliff Richard in his place in the members'
:15:15. > :15:15.enclosure. Stayed away last year for understandable reasons, but has now
:15:16. > :15:56.been cleared of suspicion. Simona Halep hits the best with just
:15:57. > :16:39.a touch of topspin on it. A little extra pressure from
:16:40. > :16:49.Bertens. Great ball striking. That massive backhand from her set up
:16:50. > :16:52.this forehand, right up the middle. That's how Geoff Hirst used to take
:16:53. > :17:05.penalties, smashed it straight -- smashed it straight down the
:17:06. > :17:13.middle. There he is, hat-trick in the 1966
:17:14. > :17:55.word Cup Final, of course. Halep has played very offencively
:17:56. > :17:59.today. Instinctively she likes to rely on the defence. . Has to force
:18:00. > :18:36.herself to go out of her comfort zone.
:18:37. > :18:47.She's missed it. Well, has she. She's challenging. It's the
:18:48. > :18:52.difference between match point or break point.
:18:53. > :19:03.And it's break point. A fist pump. Starting to find her game, just in
:19:04. > :20:01.time. Wonderful second serve and it takes
:20:02. > :20:25.Simona Halep to match point. That was clutch and brave.
:20:26. > :20:36.UMPIRE: Game, set and match Miss Halep. 69 minutes and Simona Halep
:20:37. > :20:38.will get a day off tomorrow. She won't need to play tennis. She's
:20:39. > :20:49.into the last 16. Always special to make it to the
:20:50. > :20:54.second week of a Grand Slam, but particularly here at Wimbledon.
:20:55. > :20:59.There is that clear distinction. She played extremely well. And very
:21:00. > :21:03.aggressively as you were saying, willing to move up, stay on the
:21:04. > :21:07.baseline, which you said or indeed the baseline, which you said very
:21:08. > :21:14.much at the start was the secret of success on this court. It's one of
:21:15. > :21:18.the keys for Simona Halep, hit the ball early, on the rise, cleanly and
:21:19. > :21:26.accurate. She got better and better as she went in the match. Good
:21:27. > :21:37.reception from the crowd. Fine hitting from both of them. Kiki
:21:38. > :21:42.Bertens first time in the third round of Wimbledon. So that's good
:21:43. > :21:50.progress. She got to her seeded place into the third round. She will
:21:51. > :21:54.move up in the rankings. Having been outside the top 100 at the start of
:21:55. > :22:00.the year, will be pressing to get into the top 20. Simona Halep into
:22:01. > :22:18.the Fourth Round without losing a set. Last year, she had a difficult
:22:19. > :22:20.Wimbledon, losing in the first round to Cepelova. Players are very good
:22:21. > :22:35.at this, -- at this, signing autographs now.
:22:36. > :22:42.The first match is over of the day on Centre Court.
:22:43. > :22:47.Simona Halep will play Madison Keys or Alize Cornet in the Fourth Round
:22:48. > :22:53.on Monday. Right now, though, she's going to be chatting with us.
:22:54. > :22:57.Congratulations, you're into the last 16. How would you sum up your
:22:58. > :23:02.performance today? Thank you. Yeah I'm really excited that I will play
:23:03. > :23:06.Fourth Round here at Wimbledon. It's one of my special grand slams. It's
:23:07. > :23:10.really nice to play on Centre Court. It was amazing today. I played a
:23:11. > :23:15.good tennis. I'm happy that I could win in two sets. It was on odd first
:23:16. > :23:18.set, five breaks of serve, but you broke when it mattered, you held
:23:19. > :23:23.when it mattered. How crucial was that to set up the second set? I can
:23:24. > :23:29.say that I'm not a very big server, so I have to exercise a lot the
:23:30. > :23:33.return. So today I had a good return. Actually she serves really
:23:34. > :23:39.well, very strong. I was able to return very strong. I kept myself in
:23:40. > :23:44.the end and I think, I played smart, aggressive today. I really liked
:23:45. > :23:48.that the court was indoor actually. This is your first grass tournament
:23:49. > :23:53.of the season. You had an Achilles injury. Are you back to your best?
:23:54. > :23:57.Yeah, I had the pain in my Achilles. I couldn't play Birmingham. So I
:23:58. > :24:02.came straight to here to practice. I had many days before the tournament
:24:03. > :24:06.started. I can say that I am OK, I'm fit now. Sometimes, some days I have
:24:07. > :24:10.pain again. I don't know what is going on with my Achilles. Now I was
:24:11. > :24:14.able to play the match and I hope the next round will be the same. The
:24:15. > :24:17.good news is you get a day off tomorrow. You play the winner of
:24:18. > :24:22.Madison Keys and Alize Cornet. They are yet to play. Will you cast an
:24:23. > :24:26.eye over that later today and see what the opponent has to offer? Not
:24:27. > :24:29.really. I'm not doing that job, my coach does. After tomorrow we will
:24:30. > :24:34.speak just what I have to do on court. I'm going just to do my job.
:24:35. > :24:37.I'm really excited to be in the Fourth Round. I'm just looking
:24:38. > :24:42.forward to give my best. Congratulations today. Thank you.
:24:43. > :24:47.SUE BARKER: Very impressive performance from Simona Halep, who
:24:48. > :24:51.certainly knows her way around a grass court, a semifinalist here two
:24:52. > :24:56.years ago. Very dangerous again with so many seeds falling in the ladies
:24:57. > :25:00.championships, it's really anybody's title at the moment. Serena Williams
:25:01. > :25:06.being pushed to the limit. Watch out, Simona Halep could go deep into
:25:07. > :25:10.this tournament. Darren Cahill, the coach, very happy. He enjoys working
:25:11. > :25:14.with her. Says her work ethic is exceptional. She's one of the first
:25:15. > :25:18.through to the Fourth Round. We'll have Andy Murray on Centre Court in
:25:19. > :25:21.a moment. Everyone enjoying the sunshine here. We have had rain
:25:22. > :25:26.here. At the moment, the sun is shining. Let's hope it stays that
:25:27. > :25:30.way. So much tennis to catch unon. The big story -- catch up on. The
:25:31. > :25:34.big story overnight is what would happen to Novak Djokovic. Two sets
:25:35. > :25:38.down as play resumed against Sam Querrey. A champion's response. Here
:25:39. > :25:44.he is just a moment ago taking the third set 6-3. So the man that has
:25:45. > :25:48.looked virtually unbeatable over the past 12 months is back in this
:25:49. > :25:57.match. That is live over on BBC Two right now. Djokovic has taken that
:25:58. > :26:01.third set there. Centre Court roof is still closed. We hear they are
:26:02. > :26:06.going to open it. And very shortly, walking onto the hallowed turf of
:26:07. > :26:20.Centre Court, the crowd will be cheering on - you know who.
:26:21. > :26:31.Come on Andy. Come on, Andy. Come on, Andy! Come on, Andy. Come on
:26:32. > :26:35.Andy. Jom on Andy. -- come on Andy.
:26:36. > :26:40.Yes, we'll be hearing a lot of that, the excitement is growing here on
:26:41. > :26:41.Centre Court because Andy is about to continue his 2016 Wimbledon
:26:42. > :26:56.mission. Never lost an opening match at
:26:57. > :27:06.Wimbledon, Andy Murray. This could be the first of seven. Brody can't
:27:07. > :27:13.afford to give cheap points to Murray.
:27:14. > :27:45.-- Andy Murray in straight sets. A fiery start here. That's beautiful.
:27:46. > :27:49.He's a master, even by his standards, that was something
:27:50. > :27:59.special. Six games in ape row now for Murray. Painful to watch now. A
:28:00. > :28:02.tour deforce for Andy Murray. He has been in impressive form and John
:28:03. > :28:07.McEnroe was telling us earlier today that he's been impressed by Murray
:28:08. > :28:12.the most at these championships, in his opening two rounds. He's facing
:28:13. > :28:16.John Millman on Centre Court in a moment. Because of the weather that
:28:17. > :28:20.we've had, it's been raining every day of the championships, bar day
:28:21. > :28:24.one, it means that we will have play on the middle Sunday. It's only the
:28:25. > :28:29.fourth time in its history this has happened. I'm going to give you
:28:30. > :28:33.ticket details now. They will be available online from 3pm today.
:28:34. > :28:37.Details of where you can buy them can be found on the Wimbledon
:28:38. > :28:42.website. There will be no tickets on the day available. So if you don't
:28:43. > :28:48.manage to buy one online, do not turn up tomorrow. They will not be
:28:49. > :28:54.for sale here. There are 10,000 Centre Court tickets at ?70 each.
:28:55. > :29:00.8,000 for court one and 4,000 ground passes. A maximum of two tickets per
:29:01. > :29:03.household. Play will start at 11. 30am on all courts, including Centre
:29:04. > :29:09.Court and number one. There will be limited car parks in operation. So
:29:10. > :29:14.use public transport where possible. That is the news, very exciting
:29:15. > :29:19.people's Sunday tomorrow. We play catch up. Everyone wanting to be
:29:20. > :29:23.here, such a popular day this middle Saturday. Usually it's third round
:29:24. > :29:26.matches. But we're playing some second round matches as well bausz
:29:27. > :29:30.of the weather. -- because of the weather. We head to Centre Court
:29:31. > :29:35.soon. There's play on the outside court. Angelique Kerber the
:29:36. > :29:39.Australian Open champion is a set and 3-0 up against Carina Witthoeft,
:29:40. > :29:52.a fellow German. If you want to watch that, it's on the red button.
:29:53. > :29:55.On court 18, Grigor Dimitrov, former semifinalist here one set all with
:29:56. > :29:59.Steve Johnson. He won the Nottingham tournament. He's certainly doing
:30:00. > :30:03.well on the grass courts. One set all and Johnson has a break of serve
:30:04. > :30:08.early in the third set. That's on court 18. We have about 15 courts
:30:09. > :30:12.available for you online. They're available on the website, the BBC
:30:13. > :30:16.app or connected TV. Many ways to watch.
:30:17. > :30:21.That includes this man, Kei Nishikori, the number five seed. He
:30:22. > :30:31.is in action and going well against Andrey Kuznetsov.
:30:32. > :30:39.That is what is happening on this busy day. As you can see, the roof
:30:40. > :30:44.is opening and there is blue sky above. Isn't that wonderful? That
:30:45. > :30:50.scene will welcome Andy Murray in a few minutes. Not open enough for the
:30:51. > :30:54.players to come out. We will have a little chats with commentators for
:30:55. > :31:01.the next match, Jim and Mark. And there they are. Finally we have some
:31:02. > :31:05.sunshine, I had forgotten what it looked like! We hope it will stick
:31:06. > :31:09.around. That is the big question. It is spotty out here. An outdoor
:31:10. > :31:14.tournament and great to have the roof open. Andy has played well. I
:31:15. > :31:20.don't think he will be too bothered by conditions. It is a good draw
:31:21. > :31:28.opportunity against John Millman. John McEnroe said earlier he thinks
:31:29. > :31:33.that Murray's most impressive of anyone in the two rounds. When you
:31:34. > :31:37.look at what Novak is dealing with with Sam Querrey, that is fair, he
:31:38. > :31:41.has not been troubled, looked aggressive, has been very quiet,
:31:42. > :31:48.which is good for Andy Murray, not a lot of conversation back-up will
:31:49. > :31:53.stop what have you made of Andy Murray's progress? He has played
:31:54. > :32:00.well, no question, and it has been a good draw so far. As Jim said, up
:32:01. > :32:03.against John today. He will like his chances having watched the match
:32:04. > :32:08.they played in Brisbane. Not a lot the Australian will bring in general
:32:09. > :32:15.to hurt Andy's defences. He will be able to play on his terms. Andy
:32:16. > :32:20.Murray is a better player since 2013, what about John Millman? He is
:32:21. > :32:27.a better player. He has come back from serious injuries. He got out of
:32:28. > :32:31.tennis and had to work in finance a little bit so he is hungry to be
:32:32. > :32:34.back in the sport. He made the third round at the Australian Open this
:32:35. > :32:39.year and has tasted the third round of a major but this is a different
:32:40. > :32:45.level, playing Andy Murray on Centre Court on this surface. I agree, the
:32:46. > :32:50.weaponry is not there to really scare Andy Murray too much. He has a
:32:51. > :32:54.nice forehand. I think Murray can handle it comes to be. Stay there,
:32:55. > :33:00.of course you will, you are going the match, a stupid thing to say! We
:33:01. > :33:02.will talk more about Murray and John Millman, but first, Andy has spoken
:33:03. > :33:18.to Andrew Cotter. COMMENTATOR: Even by his standards
:33:19. > :33:23.that was something special. How close are you to being at your best?
:33:24. > :33:28.I think I finished the match really well. The start was tentative at the
:33:29. > :33:33.beginning. As the match went on I started to hit the ball better and
:33:34. > :33:39.better. I was feeling more comfortable with my movement. I just
:33:40. > :33:42.need to keep building on that. If you can get three matches the
:33:43. > :33:46.quicker the better, you do not have to be smart to work that out. What
:33:47. > :33:53.about time between matches, your life has changed? Used to watch
:33:54. > :33:59.maybe DVDs, but now do you have paternal responsibilities? On off
:34:00. > :34:03.days I have time on my hands and spend time at home with the family,
:34:04. > :34:11.which is nice. It is good to take your mind off the tennis and I find
:34:12. > :34:17.that very relaxing. I do not find looking after my daughter is
:34:18. > :34:22.stressful, I really enjoyed it. Do she sleep well? She sleeps well.
:34:23. > :34:27.John Millman, you played him once and it was a close match. It was a
:34:28. > :34:32.tough match. Brisbane is his hometown and he was ranked around
:34:33. > :34:40.200 at the time and I had never seen him play and he played really well.
:34:41. > :34:45.I think a set and a break down and it was really tough. I told my coach
:34:46. > :34:53.after, I said this guy should be top 50. I think he is close to that
:34:54. > :34:57.right now. He is really fit, a good move and works extremely hard. A
:34:58. > :35:03.great attitude. It will be a tough match.
:35:04. > :35:11.All I can say is bring back Carol Kirkwood. My weather predictions are
:35:12. > :35:15.rubbish. I greeted the blue sky and sunshine and no sooner have I said
:35:16. > :35:21.that, a black cloud comes over and the umbrellas are up and they have
:35:22. > :35:25.covered Centre Court. Having opened the roof, put it on reverse and
:35:26. > :35:29.close it again and hopefully we will have Andy Murray on court in a
:35:30. > :35:37.moment. It has been one of those weeks. Since the first day when we
:35:38. > :35:41.had a full day's play, the players have been off and on court. Worrying
:35:42. > :35:50.for Novak Djokovic and Sam Querrey to find a winner in that match. They
:35:51. > :35:54.are scurrying for the locker room again in a moment. They kept those
:35:55. > :35:59.players on court. This is the crew on Centre Court waiting to see what
:36:00. > :36:04.is going to happen. Will they close the roof, just take the covers off?
:36:05. > :36:09.Hopefully the cloud will pass over. We can carry on our chat. Would you
:36:10. > :36:14.like to have a go at predicting the weather? I feel the Centre Court
:36:15. > :36:19.crew are just feeling left out, let's open the roof so we can get
:36:20. > :36:26.involved, make sure our chops are sharp! Novak and Sam on Court Number
:36:27. > :36:32.One, they kept them on court under an umbrella, so that is a tricky
:36:33. > :36:36.time for them. That is very tricky. In the same way the rain delay
:36:37. > :36:43.probably saved Novak Djokovic last night, maybe this is helping Sam to
:36:44. > :36:45.regroup. He got a break of serve late in the third set, which
:36:46. > :36:55.probably gives him hope, but his service had been not challenged in
:36:56. > :36:59.the first sets. It is a chance to regroup and chat to his coach and
:37:00. > :37:07.get going again. We can see on the pictures Novak is going off and they
:37:08. > :37:12.are going to cover the court. The players will probably go to the
:37:13. > :37:18.waiting room. It is not a very big cloud overhead. Hopefully we will
:37:19. > :37:24.get sunshine back. Jim, you know Sam well. I looked at the stats. He had
:37:25. > :37:29.not got more than three games off Novak in the last seven sets but he
:37:30. > :37:34.came out and everything was working. It is a different Sam Querrey this
:37:35. > :37:40.year. Last year he struggled with matches where he had a lead and this
:37:41. > :37:45.year he had a big win, his first title in some time and since then he
:37:46. > :37:52.has gathered momentum. This time last year he had won 20 matches in
:37:53. > :37:58.2015 and he has already won 22 on tour this season. He is rolling the
:37:59. > :38:04.dice with Novak. He knows he has to play fast, aggressively, and he has
:38:05. > :38:09.to try to dominate Novak. That is what he has done a nice job of early
:38:10. > :38:14.in the match, the question is, can you close the deal? Yesterday Novak
:38:15. > :38:19.looked apathetic in the second set, like he had checked out. The rain
:38:20. > :38:24.saved his chances. Now he has engaged and he is back, not in
:38:25. > :38:32.command by any means, but back in the match. For Sam, regroup, try to
:38:33. > :38:38.throttle the world nobble one and take his racket out of his hand as
:38:39. > :38:42.much as possible. We saw it with Kevin Anderson, 2-0 down, he has a
:38:43. > :38:47.habit of having a worrying match early in the tournament. You can
:38:48. > :38:52.never just ruler him out of any match because of the way he returns
:38:53. > :38:56.at the end of the day, his great strength. For Sam, he had a night to
:38:57. > :39:01.sleep on a potentially famous victory which is not easy. The
:39:02. > :39:05.psychological pressure Novak has put on the tour, because of his
:39:06. > :39:09.dominance, it is something they struggled to deal with. I think that
:39:10. > :39:12.makes his performance on Court Number One even more impressive and
:39:13. > :39:18.perhaps more impressively for everyone in Britain is the sunshine
:39:19. > :39:24.bathing Centre Court right now. Your prediction finally came right. I am
:39:25. > :39:29.not going there again. Jim, you must feel really happy with life. Sam
:39:30. > :39:36.Querrey is doing well, you have Jack Sock. As American Davis Cup captain
:39:37. > :39:41.things are looking up. Steve Johnson, also. John Isner is playing
:39:42. > :39:46.later today. A good tournament for the American men, who have taken
:39:47. > :39:51.criticism because they have not been Andy Roddick and the generation
:39:52. > :39:57.prior to that. They are getting the most out of their talent, and we are
:39:58. > :40:00.getting closer to see that with these players and it's good to see
:40:01. > :40:06.Sam back with the form that led him up to top ten. He should be a player
:40:07. > :40:12.ranked between 10-25. Steve Johnson is having a terrific time on the
:40:13. > :40:17.grass. It gives me a lot to think about where we play Croatia in the
:40:18. > :40:22.US. Marin Cilic will be difficult. It is nice to have really great
:40:23. > :40:29.choices. It is going well. What a lovely problem to have. Spoilt for
:40:30. > :40:35.choice. Mark, the American women are doing well. Madison Keys. Back into
:40:36. > :40:40.the top ten. The bottom half of the draw is opening up now Muguruza has
:40:41. > :40:46.gone. It did with the way she went out. Somewhat surprising, her
:40:47. > :40:50.performance in the match. A lot of women will look at that and feel
:40:51. > :40:58.their chances have grown. Because we saw how well Muguruza could play in
:40:59. > :41:02.Paris and has strong she is. Whenever a big seed fools everybody
:41:03. > :41:06.feels perhaps it is going to be their tournament, finally to make a
:41:07. > :41:09.name for themselves, and how does everybody handle the pressure? You
:41:10. > :41:15.suddenly see surprising results because of that. As far as Britain
:41:16. > :41:20.is concerned, we talk about American tennis with four men in the top 100
:41:21. > :41:24.and a woman seated at Wimbledon for the first time and we saw the Davis
:41:25. > :41:29.Cup team parading the Davis Cup at the presentation. It is a good time
:41:30. > :41:33.for British tennis. It is a very good time and it should be
:41:34. > :41:37.celebrated and hopefully built on, which will be crucial, in terms of
:41:38. > :41:41.infrastructure at grassroots. Perhaps more importantly at clubs
:41:42. > :41:47.across the country and the academies, that we can build on
:41:48. > :41:52.success Andy has had, the Davis Cup team, and Jo Konta. A bit like the
:41:53. > :41:55.American men and women right now, they are pushing each other and for
:41:56. > :42:00.a long time in British tennis we have not had the rivalries where
:42:01. > :42:04.everybody has been urging the other two slightly greater heights. They
:42:05. > :42:07.respect each other but they want to be better than that person and the
:42:08. > :42:12.more you can get in the mix with that you will see better results, as
:42:13. > :42:17.we have in the last two years. It will be interesting the week after
:42:18. > :42:23.Wimbledon. We'll Novak and Andy both be playing in Belgrade in the Davis
:42:24. > :42:27.Cup? How tight is everybody's schedule given it is the Olympics
:42:28. > :42:34.and you have Davis Cup after this tournament. It is a big ask, from
:42:35. > :42:39.grass, two red clay in Belgrade and then reshuffle, probably go to
:42:40. > :42:44.Toronto, maybe not, but it is a master 's 1000 events leading into
:42:45. > :42:50.the Rio Olympics. It is a packed schedule. It is tricky. I would be
:42:51. > :42:54.surprised if both Murray and Djokovic are in Belgrade for that
:42:55. > :42:58.tournament, but we will see. We can see on the monitor that Novak
:42:59. > :43:07.probably has gone to the waiting room because he is about to step
:43:08. > :43:13.back on. Big Sam is making way for the others to go on. It makes it
:43:14. > :43:17.doubly difficult, on and off, not easy to get focused. They are
:43:18. > :43:23.experienced athletes and have been there and done this before but it is
:43:24. > :43:27.still difficult. It is exceptionally difficult and for Novak, at the
:43:28. > :43:32.moment, with the one roof, it must have been tough for him, holding all
:43:33. > :43:37.four major titles at the same time, that he is on the court that does
:43:38. > :43:42.not have the luxury of a roof, to try to push that so-called
:43:43. > :43:46.injustice. It is a great court. Everybody needs to be able to see
:43:47. > :43:51.everybody around the grounds, at certain times, so you can understand
:43:52. > :43:55.why. When you are trying to create another piece of history at
:43:56. > :43:58.Wimbledon, the fact it is getting interrupted because of the weather
:43:59. > :44:03.and had you been on another court perhaps you could have got the match
:44:04. > :44:10.finished, in a single sitting, that must have been difficult for him, as
:44:11. > :44:20.well. What did you make of Djokovic yesterday in the second set? Was he
:44:21. > :44:25.out hit? Was the bemused? Credit to Sam Querrey who played a fantastic
:44:26. > :44:28.opening set. It is easy when you watch top players struggle, you feel
:44:29. > :44:34.they are the ones playing badly but there is a lot of talent on tour and
:44:35. > :44:38.Sam showed that. As this gets back under way without a warm up. Novak
:44:39. > :44:47.looked flat for the first time. I do not know whether it was conditions,
:44:48. > :44:51.the situation, but credit to him and his team, he has come out and shown
:44:52. > :44:58.the competitive fire you need to come back from two sets down. It was
:44:59. > :45:03.a short break, there is no warm up. If you want to watch Novak up
:45:04. > :45:10.against Sam Querrey, that is on BBC Two. That match continues on BBC
:45:11. > :45:17.Two. I am talking to Jim and Mark. We are hearing that no one can find
:45:18. > :45:25.John Millman at the moment! You can run, but you can't hide, John. It is
:45:26. > :45:32.a long way home! Ivan Lendl is not happy, he has been sitting out there
:45:33. > :45:39.ten minutes. When is Ivan looking happy? He is ecstatic! We hope John
:45:40. > :45:43.Millman will be found. This is a huge day for him. Lee McKenzie met
:45:44. > :45:44.the Australian who has shown so much strength to come back from a career
:45:45. > :45:57.threatening injury. I think Andy's record speaks for
:45:58. > :46:03.itself. I have grown up and watch Andy play and he is a great player.
:46:04. > :46:08.He is a different animal in a five set match. It would be disrespectful
:46:09. > :46:13.to him if I did not go out there and believe in myself. I have played him
:46:14. > :46:21.before and also Roger before. I am never going to go into a match
:46:22. > :46:25.thinking, the task is too tall. I want to give myself the best chance
:46:26. > :46:30.and that means sticking to my guns and backing myself and leaving it
:46:31. > :46:34.out on court. You are used to fighting. You have had injury
:46:35. > :46:39.setbacks. This in comparison is probably easy, but give an insight
:46:40. > :46:44.into how close you came to having to stop because of injury? Very close.
:46:45. > :46:50.I have had two shoulder surgeries, the last in 2013 that put me out 14
:46:51. > :46:55.months almost. I had to start from scratch and it was difficult. I
:46:56. > :47:00.crept into the first time last year in Wimbledon, so it is a special
:47:01. > :47:04.place. The first time I played last year. I was close to stopping but
:47:05. > :47:09.this makes the rehab worth it, to still be in this tournament. To be
:47:10. > :47:13.playing a big match against a big player is what you want. Will you
:47:14. > :47:17.have your game face on all will you just enjoy the moment as well? It
:47:18. > :47:21.will be different to being on Court Number One or Centre Court. Maybe
:47:22. > :47:29.they will put me on 16, something familiar! I can look back and enjoy
:47:30. > :47:34.the experience. I am a competitor at heart. That is what I live for, to
:47:35. > :47:39.compete to the best of my ability and to give myself the best shot.
:47:40. > :47:44.When I am out there, I will try to be as tough as I can and make it as
:47:45. > :47:51.hard as it can be for a great player like Andy and then I can look back
:47:52. > :47:56.and maybe appreciate it a little more. I hope they find him. Somebody
:47:57. > :48:00.spotted him on Centre Court. There he is, soaking up the atmosphere. He
:48:01. > :48:06.knew where he was playing. Maybe that frightened him off, Jim? I
:48:07. > :48:13.think he is looking for his game face. It is somewhere in the grounds
:48:14. > :48:19.and he misplaced! Everything is set to go. We have ball boys, girls,
:48:20. > :48:25.lines people. We are ready. I do not know where he has gone. That was
:48:26. > :48:31.from earlier. We might go back to my career highlights if we carry on!
:48:32. > :48:36.That will not take long! As far as Murray is concerned, against
:48:37. > :48:41.Yen-Hsun Lu, tricky, break is served early but Murray got better and
:48:42. > :48:45.better. He got a lot better. Yen-Hsun Lu came in with good
:48:46. > :48:55.confidence from the challengers. He was on a winning streak on grass.
:48:56. > :49:01.His game translate to this surface well. The one thing we will look at
:49:02. > :49:10.is the serve. On the grass, he has struggled a little bit but against
:49:11. > :49:14.Andy, one of the great returns. I wonder how much John Millman will
:49:15. > :49:20.get on his serve to get the free points you need. We know Andy is
:49:21. > :49:25.serving well. John Millman will need to do that. I am not sure he serves
:49:26. > :49:32.well enough to trouble Andy consistently. As we can see he has
:49:33. > :49:37.been found. The tournament referee welcoming the players. Going through
:49:38. > :49:42.final preparations. Before they step out onto Centre Court, which will be
:49:43. > :49:49.a thrill for the crowd and for us. Here they come.
:49:50. > :50:14.Andy looking so relaxed. I think just puffing out his cheeks, John,
:50:15. > :50:19.because it is a big moment for him. It does not matter how many matches
:50:20. > :50:24.you have played, walking out on this court, so much history, some of the
:50:25. > :50:32.great champions playing on it, it is a special court. Jim and Mark. We
:50:33. > :50:43.were talking about Ivan Lendl. Jamie Delgado has played his part. He is a
:50:44. > :50:48.good coach and did well with Muller. That got Andy's respect. He turned
:50:49. > :50:53.him around and the maturity he brought to his game as well. And the
:50:54. > :50:57.tactical knowledge he has. I spoke to him in Paris. They had a
:50:58. > :51:04.fantastic clay-court season together. I hope the fact Ivan Lendl
:51:05. > :51:09.has come back, which I advocate because of the success they have had
:51:10. > :51:13.in the past, that people do not overlook how well Jamie Delgado did
:51:14. > :51:17.with Andy on the clay and because of that I feel it was the reason Andy
:51:18. > :51:23.had his best clay-court season. I will leave this match with you.
:51:24. > :51:28.Enjoy it. I hope the sunshine. I will not predict anything
:51:29. > :51:38.Marc Leishman to echo your thoughts about Jamie Delgado. We spoke a lot
:51:39. > :51:45.about him in the French Open. What a terrific coach he has been -- Mark.
:51:46. > :51:53.There was concern about whether Andy would bring somebody in in time.
:51:54. > :51:58.We have electronic review on the court. I have been asked to remind
:51:59. > :52:03.you there are microphones on the court, so be careful what you say.
:52:04. > :52:15.And do not do anything in anger that might damage the court.
:52:16. > :52:23.STUDIO: Andy winning the toss and he will serve first. I will give you
:52:24. > :52:30.details about tomorrow. We will have a people'sSunday and tickets will be
:52:31. > :52:33.available online from 3pm today. They are on sale right now. Details
:52:34. > :52:40.of where you can buy them can be found on the Wimbledon website. No
:52:41. > :52:45.tickets available on the day and so if you do not buy one today online,
:52:46. > :52:55.please do not turn up tomorrow, you will not be able to get in. Get on
:52:56. > :52:56.the Wimbledon website and we hope to see you here tomorrow for what
:52:57. > :53:11.promises to be a very special day. Henman Hill is very busy, as always
:53:12. > :53:16.on a Murray match and everyone thoroughly enjoying the sunshine.
:53:17. > :53:20.That is outside. Novak Djokovic on Court Number One and Andy Murray on
:53:21. > :53:28.Centre Court. The sun is shining, what more can you ask for?
:53:29. > :53:29.Querrey and gym. COMMENTATOR: I guess there were concerns as the
:53:30. > :53:42.roof went over. Worrying about the wisdom of the
:53:43. > :53:49.decision, but it is correct, it is an outdoor tournament. John Millman
:53:50. > :53:55.is the third ranked Australian art against the world number two. It
:53:56. > :53:59.will be a tough ask for the Australian, who has not even played
:54:00. > :54:03.on Court Number One here. He will be delighted the roof is open because
:54:04. > :54:12.if it is not going well, this is one of the most suffocating courts to
:54:13. > :54:17.play on. You do not get a chance before to have a hit on it to get a
:54:18. > :54:22.sense of the dimensions of the court. For John Millman, it is more
:54:23. > :54:31.like the weather down under. Ivan Lendl guided Murray to the US Open
:54:32. > :54:42.title in 2012, the Olympics, and here Wimbledon 2013. Some pretty
:54:43. > :54:49.nice stats, Jim. Very strong. Fantastic winning percentage at the
:54:50. > :54:57.majors. Even better at Wimbledon. 2016. Two major finals. Probably the
:54:58. > :55:09.reason Ivan Lendl is back in the chair, because they are finals
:55:10. > :55:22.rather than wins. I am with you. I would like to tip cap to Jamie
:55:23. > :55:26.Delgado. He is very good. Perhaps I can add that extra to get Murray
:55:27. > :55:40.over the line. Jamie in the black cap. They should switch hat. Ivan is
:55:41. > :55:48.more of a black hat kind of guy. John Millman, 27 years of age. Have
:55:49. > :55:57.you watched in much? I've seen him a bit. He lost to Bernard Tomic this
:55:58. > :56:02.year. I like his forehand. With an interesting short follow-through on
:56:03. > :56:07.his backhand wing. He is getting a lot out of his game. He does not
:56:08. > :56:14.possess the natural foot speed of his opponent. The raw athleticism.
:56:15. > :56:18.He is making a career of it after a rough go physically with the surgery
:56:19. > :56:25.on his shoulder. Confirmation of the third-round appearance in Australia.
:56:26. > :56:31.And a third-round here. Beating Muller down under. And Albert
:56:32. > :56:45.Montanans. Not a great love of the grass court,
:56:46. > :56:52.but still a solid win. Mark Draper on the left, who played, 150 in the
:56:53. > :57:03.world. And a quality player on the right, Jason, a trainer with the
:57:04. > :57:04.Australian Davis Cup team. He assists Lleyton Hewitt with the
:57:05. > :57:18.Australian Davis Cup team. A refreshing sight to see the roof
:57:19. > :57:24.open. Chatting about the time they met before in Brisbane 2013. Andy
:57:25. > :57:28.said he felt then that John Millman potentially was going to be a top 50
:57:29. > :57:37.player. Andy getting the better of him. Interesting, and he never lost
:57:38. > :57:42.to an Australian on tour in Grand Slams, or in Davis Cup. He has lost
:57:43. > :57:50.a couple in challenge is a long time ago which makes his record 20-2 but
:57:51. > :57:58.17 and zero against Australians for Murray. The American umpire in the
:57:59. > :58:04.chair. Americans everywhere. What is going on? Apologies!
:58:05. > :58:11.John Millman said last year Wimbledon was the first time he
:58:12. > :58:16.managed to crack the top 100. He was close in 2013 in the 120s at that
:58:17. > :58:26.juncture before the shoulder problem that afflicted him. That run at
:58:27. > :58:35.Wimbledon also was his best ever win where he took care of Tommy Robredo.
:58:36. > :58:42.He has lost eight. Losing 32 top-10 players. John Millman is sitting in
:58:43. > :58:48.his chair, looking around, soaking up the atmosphere, as Murray
:58:49. > :58:56.finishes his warm up. Just having a peak around. It must be satisfying
:58:57. > :59:07.for him, 27 years of age to make it here to Wimbledon Centre Court.
:59:08. > :59:13.Murray is going to serve first. John Millman will have a pressure free
:59:14. > :59:17.game to get into this contest. The umpire is on the telephone. Not sure
:59:18. > :59:25.who he is trying to reach. Normally you would see players standing up at
:59:26. > :59:31.this point, getting ready to play. Andy will be looking to defend his
:59:32. > :59:40.Olympic gold medal soon. He won it here on this Court in 2012. John
:59:41. > :59:44.Millman, in the middle of his match against Benoit Paire, because of
:59:45. > :59:50.Nick Kyrgios and Bernard Tomic's withdrawal from the Australian Open
:59:51. > :00:00.and his appeal about Davis Cup, he is also going to Rio.
:00:01. > :01:16.is in action and going well against Andrey Kuznetsov.
:01:17. > :02:19.What a lovely hold from Murray at the start of this third round match,
:02:20. > :02:23.full of confidence. Arguably, that is going to be one of the big
:02:24. > :02:27.differences. It will be fascinating to see how Millman tries to protect
:02:28. > :02:32.his serve. The thing I've noticed with the Australian, when he plays,
:02:33. > :02:37.he tends to serve wide on the deuce side. With Andy's ability to direct
:02:38. > :02:41.his returns, he could be hitting a lot of back hands. The backhand
:02:42. > :02:47.doesn't have as much pace. These are from the grass this year. The
:02:48. > :02:49.Australian has found a bit of pace in the tournaments that he's played
:02:50. > :03:11.in. You saw his forehand travels quicker
:03:12. > :03:16.on average than his backhand. Already in the match we've seen him
:03:17. > :03:41.step around his forehand to hit the two-hander out here.
:03:42. > :03:48.He actually got Millman in Brisbane with the lob. When he came in, Andy
:03:49. > :04:06.seemed toe find the space behind him.
:04:07. > :04:16.Beautiful from Murray. His two handed backhand down-the-line from
:04:17. > :04:20.Murray is a critical shot in this match up. Millman, if you open him
:04:21. > :04:22.up to the backhand side, he's vulnerable to the attack on the
:04:23. > :05:43.two-hander. Exactly the start Murray wanted. A
:05:44. > :05:50.nod from Jamie Delgado. Impassive as ever, Ivan Lendl.
:05:51. > :05:54.Already the task ahead of Millman today is pretty evident to
:05:55. > :06:36.everybody. A lot of us wondering with Lendl
:06:37. > :06:43.back in the Murray camp, will we see the resumption of the aggression on
:06:44. > :06:50.the forehand side that we saw when he was previously in the coach's
:06:51. > :06:51.box. Murray's forehand averaging three to fourmph more under this
:06:52. > :07:14.man's guidance. It's a bit early in this tournament
:07:15. > :07:18.to say whether it's come back. The numbers don't really support it. He
:07:19. > :07:24.hasn't needed to be that aggressive in the opening two rounds.
:07:25. > :07:30.You would think that would be a part of the re-approach from Ivan.
:07:31. > :07:52.It's more about the mind set than actually the numbers.
:07:53. > :08:00.There's that backhand down-the-line. Skipping off the grass at an awkward
:08:01. > :08:06.height for Millman. Here's an interesting piece of the puzzle with
:08:07. > :08:10.Ivan Lendl. I've talked to him about his time with Andy and said how did
:08:11. > :08:14.you prepare him in tournaments. He said, well, it all depends on his
:08:15. > :08:19.draw. If he has a challenging draw in front of him, I have to prepare
:08:20. > :08:24.for the next match. If he has someone let's say, take us through
:08:25. > :08:29.this... This is the first-serve placement. You can see in Stuttgart
:08:30. > :08:33.where he played, he lost to Del Potro in that tournament. That's two
:08:34. > :08:37.foot the green lines. Millman has decent pace on the first serve, but
:08:38. > :08:44.the accuracy there, if you keep your eyes on there, is not there. If we
:08:45. > :08:49.look at Andy's accuracy on serve, we've seen the three aces today. You
:08:50. > :08:55.can see how that rises on the deuce side to 70% and up to 67% for Murray
:08:56. > :09:05.as well. That is a lot of baseline that Millman has to protect to get
:09:06. > :09:10.the ball back into play. His precision has grown over the years
:09:11. > :09:29.for Andy Murray. He's grown into it as his game has evolved.
:09:30. > :09:55.Back to how Lendl has prepared Andy in the past and I suspect he's doing
:09:56. > :09:59.during this tournament. He looks at the big problems in the draw for
:10:00. > :10:03.Andy and starts prepping him early. With the draw like he's had so far,
:10:04. > :10:08.he probably has been looking ahead towards Nick Kyrgios for a
:10:09. > :10:15.fourth-round match there. Saying if Kyrgios - what do we need to do.
:10:16. > :10:21.What shots do we need to be ready to play against Nick Kyrgios? #
:10:22. > :10:46.You would think if the number one seed, Novak, were to lose today,
:10:47. > :11:11.that would also change the way that Ivan and Jamie would prepare Andy.
:11:12. > :11:22.Murray with a look up to the umpire to get confirmation.
:11:23. > :11:27.Stars on and off the court in the royal batch. Sir Bobby Charlton here
:11:28. > :12:04.today -- Royal Box. A bit of confidence for Millman that
:12:05. > :12:27.he hangs onto his serve here. He warmed up for Wimbledon by
:12:28. > :12:28.winning his fifth queen's title, more than anybody else has managed
:12:29. > :12:40.to achieve. His legendary status as the greatest
:12:41. > :13:08.British male player in the open era continues to grow.
:13:09. > :13:17.The second serve of Murray has really improved this season. He's
:13:18. > :13:18.really going for it more. He's added 9mph on average of speed
:13:19. > :13:39.to that shot this year. When he won here in 2013, his
:13:40. > :14:13.average second wasle 3mph. -- was 87mph. That's a big jump.
:14:14. > :14:22.Terrific running from Millman. Great application and discipline to the
:14:23. > :14:24.cause from the Australian. Just acting as a shock absorber out
:14:25. > :14:36.there. That's really his only hope here to
:14:37. > :15:24.make as many as possible and hope Murray misses.
:15:25. > :15:27.Looking at the ball to see if there's white powder on it, but
:15:28. > :15:37.there isn't. Trying to inject a fair bit of pace
:15:38. > :15:40.into that 91mph forehand from Murray. Can you see how much higher
:15:41. > :16:51.than that on average it was. Murray, who's been broken just the
:16:52. > :17:32.once in the tournament, facing another break point now.
:17:33. > :17:43.He's absolutely elated with that. He gets the break back. We're on serve.
:17:44. > :17:49.SUE BARKER: Andy not happy with that. Back on serve on Centre Court.
:17:50. > :17:56.We'll be right back there in a moment. Over on Court No 1, this big
:17:57. > :18:02.story continues. Novak Djokovic it's 3-3 in the fourth set. He's trailing
:18:03. > :18:05.two sets to one to Sam Querrey. He's facing break points in almost every
:18:06. > :18:09.service game. He's not looking himself. He's shouting at his box,
:18:10. > :18:14.talking to the crowd. He looks out of sorts somehow. He's fighting hard
:18:15. > :18:16.and trying to stay with it. It's very much advantage Sam Querrey at
:18:17. > :18:24.the moment. That match live on BBC Two.
:18:25. > :18:43.Querry's just gone 4-3 up. Here though, we're back on centre.
:18:44. > :18:48.COMMENTATOR: Breaks exchanged already. Looking at Millman's
:18:49. > :18:55.tournaments coming in here, he lost to Juan Martin Del Potro in the
:18:56. > :19:03.second round. A good win against Lucas Pouille at Stuttgart. Lost at
:19:04. > :19:06.queens. Lost to Steve Johnson in Nottingham. In three losses he
:19:07. > :19:09.didn't create one break point opportunity in those matches.
:19:10. > :19:27.Already today he's got a break against Murray.
:19:28. > :19:32.He's going to need to break quite a lot just to stay with Murray.
:19:33. > :19:57.Millman's serve is going to be under siege.
:19:58. > :20:03.There's that follow through you were talking about. A little bunt, a
:20:04. > :20:45.little abbreviation. Murray's pulled back on the throttle
:20:46. > :20:48.this game. That was a little too cavalier by his standards, the last
:20:49. > :20:58.one. You see how difficult it is for
:20:59. > :21:12.Millman to make headway, when he goes into that mode.
:21:13. > :21:30.Utterly brilliant. There is no such thing as a lost cause.
:21:31. > :21:36.Millman may have been hitting ground strokes harder than Murray, but
:21:37. > :21:42.Murray has a decided advantage on serve speed. Millman's first serve
:21:43. > :21:44.doesn't have enough on it. It's almost a gimme for Murray to get the
:21:45. > :21:54.ball back in play. Millman's only gotten one free point
:21:55. > :22:12.off his serve. It's a suffocating feeling for an
:22:13. > :22:49.opponent. He'll be defiant out here, Millman.
:22:50. > :24:14.If there is a way, he'll try to find it.
:24:15. > :24:21.Awesome. What a wonderful tennis rally. Murray coming out on top.
:24:22. > :24:33.He's well on top now in this opening set.
:24:34. > :24:41.This really is such a nice opponent, break of serve notwithstanding that
:24:42. > :24:45.Murray has suffered in this match, it's batting practice for him.
:24:46. > :24:50.Millman is hitting the ball right in the sweet spot, waist level, perfect
:24:51. > :24:58.for him to play as much or as little offence as he wants to. Murray is in
:24:59. > :25:03.complete control today. I'm going to call it Murray Mound today, because
:25:04. > :25:10.Tim's not next to me. They're having a lovely time right now. Let's hope
:25:11. > :25:14.it stays that way. What a really easy move into the second week for
:25:15. > :25:18.Murray. This draw has really provided that for him so far. Big
:25:19. > :25:25.difference to the French Open as well. He had those two brutal
:25:26. > :25:31.five-setters. I think two points away from losing in fact. That was
:25:32. > :25:51.before the tournament basically even started. His wife Kim.
:25:52. > :26:16.Just given him a nothing ball with the slice, no pace to work on for
:26:17. > :26:22.Millman. The Australian is going to struggle with that. Your backhand,
:26:23. > :26:26.Nick talked about it in his autobiography saying that he felt as
:26:27. > :26:34.though a few people were saying to change it. He left it.
:26:35. > :26:39.Where would you sit with someone like Millman. Is it a case for
:26:40. > :26:43.watching it long enough to see whether it works or not? When it
:26:44. > :26:47.comes to technique. At 27 years of age to try and change it now would
:26:48. > :26:54.be really challenging. We're getting a challenge here.
:26:55. > :27:01.Back in our time, you could get away with a hole in your game. It wasn't
:27:02. > :27:06.as fast as today. Nick told me it doesn't matter how
:27:07. > :27:11.bad your backhand is, we can run around and hit forehands. There was
:27:12. > :27:18.time to do that. It worked OK. But in this era, if
:27:19. > :27:22.you're not balanced, if you have a big, glaring weakness, your chances
:27:23. > :27:28.of winning anything significant are severely diminished. You have to
:27:29. > :27:29.have such a massive weapon, like an Isner serve, to really overcome
:27:30. > :27:51.that. Federer's backhand is probably the
:27:52. > :27:56.most vulnerable of all the top players' shots. But he's done just
:27:57. > :28:02.fine, 17 majors, I'd say more than just fine.
:28:03. > :28:10.On the right of your picture Amanda Holden. Mary Berry on the left.
:28:11. > :28:18.You probably have one of her recipe books, Jim? Without a doubt.
:28:19. > :28:23.Have you opened it? It's collecting dust with the others.
:28:24. > :29:12.Have you seen the take-out options in New York? They're immense.
:29:13. > :29:17.Getting a lot more variety coming at him at the moment with the slice
:29:18. > :29:54.back hands and the driven forehands. Simply done. Very efficient from
:29:55. > :29:57.Murray, so far. The only thing he seems worried about right now is
:29:58. > :30:25.what is above. It has gone dark again.
:30:26. > :30:41.We have not heard much from Andy in the Championships.
:30:42. > :30:47.Muzza is the nickname, right? Is it fair to say Ivan Lendl puts the
:30:48. > :31:08.Muzza on the Muzza? -- muzzle.
:31:09. > :31:12.He has taken it quite close to the line with his ground strokes in the
:31:13. > :31:18.opening set, which is surprising. He does not feel there is a need to,
:31:19. > :31:23.but as you said, perhaps with one eye on tougher battles to come. That
:31:24. > :31:30.is what I would ascribe it to. If this were the final I think Andy
:31:31. > :31:35.would play more conservative shots. But I think he has an eye on the
:31:36. > :31:39.bigger prize. I know that is the way Ivan has operated in the past and I
:31:40. > :31:44.would be shocked if he is not doing it with Andy now.
:31:45. > :31:50.It is a good lesson to other players, if you are in a comfortable
:31:51. > :31:57.match and there is something you are working on, serve and volley, sliced
:31:58. > :31:59.backhand. It is tough to replicate Matchplay in practice. There is only
:32:00. > :32:06.one way to get something comfortable in a game that you can use when you
:32:07. > :32:07.need it and that is to do it in matches where you are in the lead,
:32:08. > :32:21.you have a safety net. 5-3 up, even if he dropped his
:32:22. > :32:28.serve, basically a flip of the coin, he is going to break serve.
:32:29. > :32:44.Frustrated with his shot selection there.
:32:45. > :33:07.Should we check that ball for cuts? ! What a carver. Three in the first
:33:08. > :33:09.couple of service games, aces. A fourth now. A couple more set
:33:10. > :33:26.points. Millman chases down everything he
:33:27. > :33:33.possibly can but Murray comes away with the opening set. Relatively
:33:34. > :33:37.comfortable in the end. SUE BARKER: Plenty of fans delighted Andy Murray
:33:38. > :33:43.has taken the opening set. On Court Number One, all sorts of problems
:33:44. > :33:48.for Novak Djokovic. A short time ago he was serving for the fourth set,
:33:49. > :33:53.but dropped his serve. He is not looking himself. Whether it is
:33:54. > :33:58.illness, injury, we do not know. He is talking to the box, talking to
:33:59. > :34:03.the crowd. Sam Querrey is playing well but not the usual Djokovic
:34:04. > :34:09.performance. 5-5 in the fourth set. That is on BBC Two. The world number
:34:10. > :34:09.one fighting to stay in this tournament.
:34:10. > :34:19.Back we go to Centre Court. Kim, as ever, encouraging her man.
:34:20. > :34:35.Some numbers to digester. Murray would like to do better on
:34:36. > :34:39.his second serve but can hardly do any better when Millman hits a
:34:40. > :34:53.second serve. Breaking Millman twice. A comfortable set, in the
:34:54. > :34:57.end. A dominant set. The scoreboard of Novak and Sam Querrey is on
:34:58. > :35:04.Centre Court right now, as Andy Murray changes his shirt. He is
:35:05. > :35:11.aware it is 5-5. Djokovic could be on the verge of going out in the
:35:12. > :35:14.next ten minutes. David Beckham. He is with his mother, Sandra. Billie
:35:15. > :35:50.Jean King, of course, in front of him. Margaret Court.
:35:51. > :35:54.You can see Andy Murray looking up and out of Centre Court right now.
:35:55. > :36:03.There is forecast of drizzle over the next hour. It has been
:36:04. > :36:06.unnervingly accurate, unfortunately, the weather forecast around
:36:07. > :36:23.Wimbledon these championships. It would appear it is correct again.
:36:24. > :36:34.The umpire has decided it is too wet. He was looking for confirmation
:36:35. > :36:37.down this end of the court. Well, the pictures tell you the story, I
:36:38. > :37:00.am afraid. As ever, swiftly and efficiently
:37:01. > :37:05.done. Trying to keep as much rain off the surface as possible. I would
:37:06. > :37:10.imagine given the fact it is raining, the decision to close the
:37:11. > :37:21.roof is probably going to be made swiftly? You would think so. It will
:37:22. > :37:26.give a chance for Murray and Millman to go into the locker room and
:37:27. > :37:32.convene with coaching staff, most likely. And also to look at the
:37:33. > :37:36.scoreboard. Sam Querrey has held serve. Djokovic will have to use it
:37:37. > :37:39.during the rain delay most likely and think about serving to stay in
:37:40. > :37:50.the Championships and keep his Grand Slam winning streak alive. This is
:37:51. > :37:59.where it started in glorious sunshine. Murray electing to serve
:38:00. > :38:08.and getting off to a flyer. Up 3-0, he was, and hitting superbly.
:38:09. > :38:13.Millman fought back. He does what he is capable of doing, but there is a
:38:14. > :38:16.talent gap between the two that will be exceptionally difficult for
:38:17. > :38:24.Millman to bridge. He has taken Roger Federer to three before and
:38:25. > :38:30.took Murray to three. But a greater variety from Andy. The opening set
:38:31. > :38:34.under his belt in just under 40 minutes. The coaches wondering
:38:35. > :38:45.whether to make the trip back to the locker room. It seems Ivan is happy
:38:46. > :38:51.to perch. On top of John McEnroe's head is where he would like to be!
:38:52. > :38:57.John McEnroe is right underneath him in the commentary box. Absolutely
:38:58. > :39:00.right. There is John, leaning forward in the picture. These are
:39:01. > :39:09.his two homes. He has a couple of properties here. He has Chris to the
:39:10. > :39:15.right. One of the big commentary stars in the United States, who does
:39:16. > :39:25.football and other things. Ivan is on top of John, that is where he
:39:26. > :39:28.likes to be. Jamie Delgado will be working his sources for statistical
:39:29. > :39:35.updates to figure out if there are any changes they need to make, if
:39:36. > :39:41.they do get a chance to visit and. His father in the back of the
:39:42. > :39:48.picture. A former Davis Cup player in the blue top. Andrew Richardson.
:39:49. > :39:59.A tall left-hander. Might have made third-round here one year, as well.
:40:00. > :40:06.The jacket and umbrella has been a requirement over the opening six
:40:07. > :40:15.days. Somebody has managed to hand Kim and All-England Club umbrella.
:40:16. > :40:23.Andy's agent is in the back of the picture. The third man along, hidden
:40:24. > :40:26.by the umbrella. Also an Italian who used to play a bit of tennis and he
:40:27. > :40:47.helps on the commercial side. SUE BARKER: The rain is falling all
:40:48. > :40:52.around and the decision to keep the roof open has cost on Centre Court.
:40:53. > :40:56.No decision on whether they will close it. There are showers but it
:40:57. > :41:00.looks clear most of the day and so I think they will try to keep it as an
:41:01. > :41:06.outdoor tournament and only close it if there is a serious threat of
:41:07. > :41:09.rain. I hope the clouds have gone away. They probably brought this
:41:10. > :41:16.amount of rain. They are not covering the courts outside. They
:41:17. > :41:20.have covered on number one court, which is the match we will bring you
:41:21. > :41:24.before returning live to Centre Court. It is the big story that has
:41:25. > :41:29.been brewing, late last night and today. Novak Djokovic against Sam
:41:30. > :41:35.Querrey, who had taken the first two set will stop Djokovic came back
:41:36. > :41:48.fighting back, taking the third set 6-3. We can join it in the fourth.
:41:49. > :41:53.4-4. The commentators Tim Henman and Andrew Castle.
:41:54. > :41:59.It would be a major surprise if this man were to go out at the top of the
:42:00. > :42:29.draw. Fancy getting to Wimbledon only
:42:30. > :42:33.winning two completed matches, both on clay!
:42:34. > :42:54.Chances for Djokovic to breakthrough deep in this fourth set.
:42:55. > :42:58.UMPIRE: Mr Querrey is challenging the ball. If it is long, it did not
:42:59. > :43:32.miss by much. Oh. This is a ninth break point in this
:43:33. > :43:40.set chrome for Djokovic. -- in this set. That is the 30th ace of the
:43:41. > :44:00.match for Querrey. He still needs a few more.
:44:01. > :44:04.It is quite hard to be philosophical when those things go past all the
:44:05. > :45:02.time. Querrey has to dominate with his
:45:03. > :45:07.first couple of strikes in the rally. If it goes more than five
:45:08. > :45:51.shots, Djokovic starting to exploit the movement.
:45:52. > :46:01.And that is it. The breakthrough that may mean 2-2. Djokovic still to
:46:02. > :46:03.serve for it but finally, a break of serve. Sam could not serve his way
:46:04. > :46:18.out of that one. To say it had been on the cards
:46:19. > :46:25.would be an understatement. Djokovic had created so many opportunities.
:46:26. > :46:28.When you see the aces fly past you, it is difficult not to get
:46:29. > :46:35.frustrated and you have to maintain the belief you will eventually get
:46:36. > :46:40.one. 70 break point. He finally gets another break of serve to come out
:46:41. > :46:44.to serve for the fourth set and get it back on level terms. The
:46:45. > :46:50.parallels with the match against Kevin Anderson last year, where he
:46:51. > :47:03.lost the first two and then winning, they are impossible to ignore.
:47:04. > :47:06.Djokovic steels himself. To serve to make it 2-2 here. Sunshine on Court
:47:07. > :47:24.Number One. A sunnier disposition for Djokovic,
:47:25. > :47:39.at the moment. He still needs to hold this.
:47:40. > :47:44.Second service. He should have challenged. In the commentary box we
:47:45. > :47:46.have a monitor and it was on the outside edge of the line.
:47:47. > :48:35.Concentration again? He has not challenged. Twice in a
:48:36. > :48:44.row and Tim has given our secret away. We know that ball was in. Two
:48:45. > :48:59.in a row, serving for the set. Not sharp between the ears today.
:49:00. > :49:04.Certainly at this stage of the match, if there was even the
:49:05. > :49:07.slightest element of doubt, you would ask the question. If he had
:49:08. > :49:27.any challenges left. Ah. Oh, he has found it. Of course, he
:49:28. > :49:34.did not have the challenges left. It is we who are not sharp in the head.
:49:35. > :49:36.He was fine. Sam Querrey, sharp on the forehand, down the line. --
:49:37. > :50:06.backhand. It is not as if Querrey has been
:50:07. > :50:20.brilliant on the break point, with three of 14 for the match.
:50:21. > :50:30.He has missed. Can you believe that? Challenges unavailable when they
:50:31. > :50:37.would have helped. And that volley goes pretty much
:50:38. > :51:35.anywhere over the net. A challenging stare up to his team.
:51:36. > :52:49.Djokovic is not the only one he needs volleying practice.
:52:50. > :54:42.SUE BARKER: And that is when the rain came down and Djokovic signal
:54:43. > :54:47.to Boris Becker, come round, I need to talk to you. While the rain
:54:48. > :54:51.delays on, no doubt Boris will try to do his best to lift his man to
:54:52. > :54:56.try to find a way. He has to come out to serve to stay in the match.
:54:57. > :54:59.What a difficult situation, coming out cold to save your title hopes
:55:00. > :55:03.that Wimbledon. This is the scene. We just had
:55:04. > :55:09.sunshine and the players came back onto court and Andy Murray played a
:55:10. > :55:14.couple more points on Centre Court but then the rain came out and it
:55:15. > :55:18.has fallen heavily but as is typical in the summer, we have had the rain,
:55:19. > :55:22.now we have the sunshine. It looks as though we will have a clear
:55:23. > :55:26.spell, quite a long clear spell this evening. We are still hoping to have
:55:27. > :55:31.plenty of tennis as the tournament tries to play catch up after one of
:55:32. > :55:37.the worst weeks of whether we have had at Wimbledon. There is no live
:55:38. > :55:40.play to bring you at the moment, although everybody is keeping up
:55:41. > :55:44.their spirits on Henman Hill. It never seems to dampen their spirits,
:55:45. > :55:48.no matter how much rain falls on them. We will bring you more tennis
:55:49. > :56:00.in a moment. First, let's look back to some results completed in the
:56:01. > :56:10.sunshine earlier. Mahut defeated his doubles partner today. Going through
:56:11. > :56:15.in four sets stop he is very good on a grass court, Mahut. Remember the
:56:16. > :56:23.match against John Isner. He will face Djokovic or Sam Querrey.
:56:24. > :56:28.And Marin Cilic, the number nine seed from Croatia, straight sets
:56:29. > :56:50.against Lukas Lacko. He is through to face Kei Nishikori.
:56:51. > :56:57.Another straight sets win. Defeating Andrey Kuznetsov of Russia. Marin
:56:58. > :57:03.Cilic against Kei Nishikori, what a nice match that will be.
:57:04. > :57:12.This is a second-round match completed on middle Saturday. The
:57:13. > :57:16.talented teenager from Germany, seeded 24 at the Championships has
:57:17. > :57:23.put out Mikhail Youzhny. It was held over from last night at 2-2. A
:57:24. > :57:28.couple of breaks of serve and he is through, 6-2, and will take on Tomas
:57:29. > :57:36.Berdych in row three tomorrow. On people'sSunday.
:57:37. > :57:44.Angelique Kerber is through. The number for seed. They met in the
:57:45. > :57:46.first round last year and Angelique Kerber won zero and zero but much
:57:47. > :57:59.closer today. Confirmation that is the result and
:58:00. > :58:05.Angelique Kerber is through and the Australian Open champion will face
:58:06. > :58:10.the Japanese player who came through in straight sets today.
:58:11. > :58:29.She really works hard and she has found a way through. Doi against
:58:30. > :58:35.Angelique Kerber next. And Simona Halep, the number five seed, she
:58:36. > :58:50.defeated Bertens. She went through to the semifinal of the French Open.
:58:51. > :58:58.Simona Halep is through. This weather is so confusing. One minute
:58:59. > :59:02.we are looking at dark clouds, and now we are looking at blue skies. It
:59:03. > :59:06.has been one of those days but hopefully we will have tennis. We
:59:07. > :59:10.will definitely have tennis because the news is they are closing the
:59:11. > :59:15.roof. We have had to disruptions in the Andy Murray match and the
:59:16. > :59:19.decision has been made to close the roof, which means, regardless of the
:59:20. > :59:28.weather, we will have tennis for you very soon. But one of the big
:59:29. > :59:30.stories of the Championships in the first three days was a man who came
:59:31. > :59:34.through prequalifying. He came through qualifying and beat a player
:59:35. > :59:37.ranked 54 in the world. This is a man called Marcus Willis. We all
:59:38. > :59:44.know him now. He captured our hearts, ranked number 772 and he
:59:45. > :59:48.went on to play Roger Federer on Centre Court. We came to talk to
:59:49. > :59:53.Andrew Castle and myself, but let's remind you of his incredible story.
:59:54. > :00:00.I was a bit of a loser. I was overweight. He was a loveable rogue,
:00:01. > :00:07.not as professional as he could have been. Iing looked in the mirror and
:00:08. > :00:15.thought, I could be better than this. Shoes off if you love Willis.
:00:16. > :00:22.I think it's a cool story. You have to pinch yourself. Play the game
:00:23. > :00:30.Willis. Roger versus Marcus. David versus Goliath. To share a court
:00:31. > :00:34.with Roger Federer, what a joy. Very good from Federer. A little bit of
:00:35. > :01:00.heartbreak at the moment. I hope the best for him. I wish he
:01:01. > :01:04.could rise his level, jump in the rankings and enjoy himself even
:01:05. > :01:09.more. It was a pleasure to play against him. I'm disappointed to
:01:10. > :01:13.lose, I went out there to win. I can hold my head high. I have had a
:01:14. > :01:19.fantastic few weeks. I want more experiences like this. And here he
:01:20. > :01:23.is in the studio, alongside Andrew Castle alongside AndrewCastle. How
:01:24. > :01:29.does it feel today looking back on the experience of yesterday?
:01:30. > :01:33.Amazing. I've seen some clips and I'm really quite proud of myself
:01:34. > :01:38.actually. It was a wonderful match. What was the best moment for you?
:01:39. > :01:46.The start of the match I wasn't that nervous. I had a lot of 30 alls and
:01:47. > :01:50.hit a few good points. I was quite unlucky to lose 6-0, but the whole
:01:51. > :01:55.match, it was a good match. I played good tennis. I can play better, but
:01:56. > :01:59.for my first, for that occasion I'm quite happy with the way it went. We
:02:00. > :02:06.are going to take you through some of the match. First of all the walk
:02:07. > :02:13.out. Roger let you walk out. What did you feel? I heard the cheers and
:02:14. > :02:16.thought, it was amazing. I didn't realise I would get a reexemption
:02:17. > :02:20.like that. CHEERING. Your face when you
:02:21. > :02:27.realised it, you can't stop laughing. You were coming out like a
:02:28. > :02:32.rock star, Marcus. It was so surreal. Just brilliant. Did Roger
:02:33. > :02:37.say, do you want to go first? Or did he hang back? He just hung back. R
:02:38. > :02:40.did he hang back? He just hung back. I waited for him - go on, after you,
:02:41. > :02:44.you're used to this. He made the whole experience amazing for me. You
:02:45. > :02:49.actually met him before the match, you went up and introduced yourself?
:02:50. > :02:53.Yeah, my girlfriend wanted to meet him, she's a fan of Roger Federer,
:02:54. > :02:58.so I thought, go for it. I shook his hand. Was this in the restaurant?
:02:59. > :03:06.Yes, in the restaurant up stairs. He was really nice. What did you do? I
:03:07. > :03:10.introduced myself. He has never met me before. Before. He doesn't play
:03:11. > :03:15.on the Futures and the Challenge. It was a nice moment. What about the
:03:16. > :03:20.match? You pulled off some amazing shots, so many amazing shots. And
:03:21. > :03:25.you gave your family and your fans, your loyal fans who queued for two
:03:26. > :03:31.days, so much to cheer about. I tried to play my best tennis. That's
:03:32. > :03:35.the way I play. Not flashy as such, but I like my drop volley, my loves.
:03:36. > :03:41.I'm handy on the ball. That's the way I play. We did hit some good
:03:42. > :03:45.shots. We've picked out a few for you to enjoy. You've got lovely
:03:46. > :03:51.hands at the net, a great feel. You love that drop volley don't you? I
:03:52. > :03:55.played badminton before I played tennis, so hand skills come
:03:56. > :04:01.naturally to me. Was your mum a badminton coach? No, she played for
:04:02. > :04:07.county. I have never beaten her actually. You've never beaten her at
:04:08. > :04:11.badminton? No. You've won seven matches but it wasn't to be an
:04:12. > :04:20.eight. We got slightly concerned in the commentary box after half an
:04:21. > :04:25.hour. 5-0, 6-0, there are easier playerses to play than Roger
:04:26. > :04:30.Federer. What is he like? A heavy forehand, so, so accurate. Looks
:04:31. > :04:36.like the ball will be wide but it drops. It was unplayable. And the
:04:37. > :04:40.backhand slice as well? Backhand variation, good depth, so he is hard
:04:41. > :04:48.to attack. I got a foothold in the match. Even though it was 6-0, you
:04:49. > :04:54.felt like it was a good game. We've picked out a few for you to enjoy.
:04:55. > :05:00.Stpiems when you are out there it goes by this a blur. Do you remember
:05:01. > :05:02.this one? Almost. I ended up OW Almost. I ended up on my bum
:05:03. > :05:08.actually. # You recovered well. Here goes
:05:09. > :05:14.slip. And you owned him on this For one point. Where would that rate the
:05:15. > :05:19.best points you have ever played? It is up there. I do like my loves.
:05:20. > :05:25.That's probably my first serve of the match. You were rushing a bit.
:05:26. > :05:30.The ball wasn't going high enough. No, it was tough. It was my first
:05:31. > :05:36.time there and I wanted to get serving. Tim Henman said go on
:05:37. > :05:41.Centre Court and get a feel for it. But in the warm-up you struckled
:05:42. > :05:46.with the serve didn't you? I did. My body's been hurting. I'm stiff as a
:05:47. > :05:48.board this morning. Adrenaline got me through yesterday. I was
:05:49. > :06:04.struggling. In the Baranques match... You've
:06:05. > :06:08.really got better and better as the match was going. Did you enjoy that
:06:09. > :06:12.Centre Court experience? It was amazing. Did you forget where you
:06:13. > :06:17.were? I was trying to win points. He made it difficult. After the points,
:06:18. > :06:21.yeah, I was pumped up. I was playing good tennis. Do you want to have
:06:22. > :06:26.another go? I was getting into the match. The score line was getting
:06:27. > :06:30.closer and also the rallies were getting longer. It was good. I was
:06:31. > :06:34.feeling my way into it. He's just better than me. Me. He is just a
:06:35. > :06:40.very good player. That's why he won. What does he say to you up here at
:06:41. > :06:46.the net? Keep going, fantastic, stick at it. He said some really
:06:47. > :06:53.nice things. Top 50 level, and I appreciate that. And you got a bit
:06:54. > :06:59.emotional. Yeah. It is a long journey. This one tournament, and
:07:00. > :07:07.the headlines. When did your world turn upside down? Prequalified and
:07:08. > :07:12.nothing much Came out there. I beat my first top 100 scalp. Each match,
:07:13. > :07:20.and when I qualified I got a bit of news. After the Baranques match it's
:07:21. > :07:26.been manic. My life has changed. More Twitter followers. A few more
:07:27. > :07:31.followers. Any famous people? Miranda Hart and Andy Murray have
:07:32. > :07:38.been tweeting me. And And Roger Federer. He said, what a fun match
:07:39. > :07:47.to be a part of. Thanks Will 90 for the moment. Energy on Centre Court
:07:48. > :07:54.was like like I think in. Will Bomb is on fire. It is all about support
:07:55. > :07:57.as well. We've seen you with Jen, your girlfriend. Your friends and
:07:58. > :08:01.family were there. We've put this together. I think you will probably
:08:02. > :08:05.get emotional, because they were living every point with you as well.
:08:06. > :08:10.And there is your mum. How proud has she been? My whole family are
:08:11. > :08:15.buzzing, and my friends. They've been there the whole time. I'm glad
:08:16. > :08:17.I could do this for them. They all seemed to have this attitude of
:08:18. > :08:23.going out there and enjoying the moment. This is what we've embraced
:08:24. > :08:28.from your experience. This is such a wonderful story for sport about...
:08:29. > :08:33.Ah. After everything you've put them through Marcus, this was a great
:08:34. > :08:37.moment. To see their son play on Centre Court is quite something. And
:08:38. > :08:42.Jennifer is the best thing that ever happened to you, right? Yes. Tell
:08:43. > :08:48.the camera. Jennifer, you are the best thing that ever happened to me.
:08:49. > :08:52.And will you marry me? Not yet, I'm playing it cool, keeping you on your
:08:53. > :08:57.toes. You said you've trained so hard. Andrew has just been feeling
:08:58. > :09:04.the by accept. So hard. Andrew has just been feeling the by accept. --
:09:05. > :09:09.bicep. He is stiff today and my hand was stuck between the forearm and
:09:10. > :09:13.the bicep. You've been training. What do you want to take from this
:09:14. > :09:18.going forward? I'm going to be dropped down on Planet Earth after
:09:19. > :09:20.this. This. I've got to keep training the way I've been train.
:09:21. > :09:26.I'm playing well but I need to return better. I need to get 10%
:09:27. > :09:31.quicker, need to get stronger. There are things to improve. That's
:09:32. > :09:38.exciting for me. Do you know where your rank will be after this? It is
:09:39. > :09:42.in the 4s somewhere. I was going to be around 2000 in the world, so it
:09:43. > :09:47.is a great start. But I'm still a million miles from where I want to
:09:48. > :09:53.be. What was Matt Smith done for you, your coach, that everybody else
:09:54. > :09:56.has not. You made a pledge to him. How has he been able to do what
:09:57. > :10:02.others haven't? You were trouble when you were a teenager weren't
:10:03. > :10:12.you? I was. I trained hard with Victor. I lost my way between 19 and
:10:13. > :10:16.23. Didn't work enough. I didn't really want it, looking back. Smithy
:10:17. > :10:21.is terrifying. Is he? I've got a lot of respect for him. When he shouts
:10:22. > :10:29.at you, you listen. He was a very good player himself. Had double
:10:30. > :10:36.wrist surgery and quit young. He was are a fantastic player. Trained in
:10:37. > :10:40.Spain. His drill are brutal. I have to pretend I'm not tired after
:10:41. > :10:48.that.ive got to bluff my opponent. It is brutal. Friday morning getting
:10:49. > :10:53.up on court I couldn't walk. Walk. It is worth it. It has proved to you
:10:54. > :10:57.that the hard work will pay off. More importantly, have you picked up
:10:58. > :11:03.your prize money yet? I did just now. How did that feel? Different to
:11:04. > :11:09.a Tunisia F1. I hope you put it somewhere safe. It gets transferred,
:11:10. > :11:14.so I can't spend it too quickly. Did you go out with your mates last
:11:15. > :11:21.night? No, after all the media, I got back and got into bed at half 1.
:11:22. > :11:27.Up at 8. Shattered. It will have a beer at some point but not yet. It's
:11:28. > :11:30.been a magical story, we thoroughly enjoyed going on the journey with
:11:31. > :11:34.you. We wish you well and all the best going up the rankings. Thank
:11:35. > :11:37.you very much. He said he was going back to Planet Earth, and that
:11:38. > :11:42.evening he headeded into the Warwick boat club to play in the Coventry
:11:43. > :11:46.league with his partner, Gavin Henderson. How life has changed for
:11:47. > :11:50.this young man, suddenly he is greeted by a wall of photographers.
:11:51. > :12:00.Everybody wanting to take his picture and enjoy his story. He went
:12:01. > :12:06.on to become a superstar at the Warwick boat club. There he is with
:12:07. > :12:11.Gavin Henderson. He won at straight sets. Not quite Centre Court, just a
:12:12. > :12:17.few people watching. But look at that, always the entertainer, the
:12:18. > :12:21.hot dog through the legs. Marcus Willis winning his Coventry league
:12:22. > :12:26.match. He won that and is delighted and he's walked away from Wimbledon
:12:27. > :12:31.with great memories and ?50,000 as well. We really have enjoyed
:12:32. > :12:35.following his story. This is the scene at Wimbledon, the roof is now
:12:36. > :12:39.closed. I'm pleased to see the covers are still on. We are told
:12:40. > :12:44.there'll be no play on the outside courts until at least 4.45pm. It may
:12:45. > :12:48.be even later than that by the time they've got the courts ready. I'm
:12:49. > :12:56.also hearing there are no tickets let for tomorrow. If you haven't
:12:57. > :13:00.gone on the Wimbledon website, there are no tickets left. There'll be
:13:01. > :13:04.none on sale tomorrow at the club. But if you're lucky to have got a
:13:05. > :13:08.ticket, we can't wait to see you. It will be a special day. Hopefully the
:13:09. > :13:12.weather will be kinder than today and throughout the whole of the
:13:13. > :13:16.first week. The good news is the roof is on and the players are back
:13:17. > :13:21.on. So at last we can bring you some live tennis and not be worrying
:13:22. > :13:25.about what is happening up above. The wave is going round Centre
:13:26. > :13:29.Court. A wonderful atmosphere, it always is on the middle Saturday.
:13:30. > :13:34.The superstars of sport are in the Royal Box as well. Everyone enjoying
:13:35. > :13:37.their Centre Court experience and thrilled that they are guaranteed
:13:38. > :13:42.tennis for some time. It is Andy Murray, the British number one. He
:13:43. > :13:46.has taken the first set against John Millman of Australia, six games to
:13:47. > :13:52.three. It is in the first game of the second set. So let's rejoin our
:13:53. > :14:01.commentators once more, Jim Courier and Mark Petchey. I'm sure they are
:14:02. > :14:03.doing the wave. A phenomenal atmosphere building inside Centre
:14:04. > :14:10.Court. There is something special about this court anyway, but with
:14:11. > :14:16.the roof closed it always gets a little more intimate. Intimidating,
:14:17. > :14:23.and yes, look at Gordon. He's still got it! A man that saved from Pele
:14:24. > :14:33.in 1970, he still can do it. Lovely to see. Thankfully the roof is shut
:14:34. > :14:39.now, so we won't get any more interruptions apart from the Mexican
:14:40. > :14:47.waves. I'm sure tomorrow on People Sunday when we get the crowd in for
:14:48. > :14:52.that as well. Are the roof closed the players have been given a five
:14:53. > :14:55.minute warm-up to get used to the different conditions. Normally they
:14:56. > :15:03.would have maybe had a three minute warm-up at best for the time spent
:15:04. > :15:13.off court. Everyone getting set to go. At Queen's as well, his son
:15:14. > :15:20.Romeo plays a lot of tennis as well. Who knows? A famous dad for
:15:21. > :15:25.football, a famous son for tennis. His mum on the left. Are you allowed
:15:26. > :15:32.to take photos in the Royal Box? He just snapped a couple. Let's see if
:15:33. > :15:38.they are brave enough to eject him. Or a red card. It will be Millman
:15:39. > :15:43.serving at 40-0 once we get back under way. Just 38 minutes of actual
:15:44. > :15:53.play. You feel as though that was the
:15:54. > :15:57.correct decision to give it as much as we could in terms of being an
:15:58. > :16:04.outdoor tournament before the roof was closed? I'm a believer of trying
:16:05. > :16:08.to play it outdoors, but be practical about it, be pragmatic. We
:16:09. > :16:12.do have other matches to get in here on Centre Court and possibly even
:16:13. > :16:16.add a match if the weather outside doesn't co-operate. We need to keep
:16:17. > :16:22.advancing this tournament. UMPIRE: 1 minute. It is such a
:16:23. > :16:26.luxury to have this roof and to see the light conditions changing here,
:16:27. > :16:30.as it is shifting overhead, the clouds moving aside for a minute. If
:16:31. > :16:35.you had been in Millman's team today, after witnessing that first
:16:36. > :16:42.38 minutes, knowing what he is capable of doing, you've seen him
:16:43. > :16:47.play in Brisbane and out here today against Andy, if you were Mark
:16:48. > :16:52.Draper or the trainer for Lleyton Hewitt, what would you have liked to
:16:53. > :16:57.see more of here in the second set early on? They can access the same
:16:58. > :17:01.data that we've been showing you as far as where Andy Murray has been
:17:02. > :17:05.serving. Serving. We've told you the viewer at home Murray has been
:17:06. > :17:08.serving predominantly up the middle of the court. That would be one
:17:09. > :17:15.thing you would let your player know. At least eliminate the ease
:17:16. > :17:20.and convenience of Murray being able to get value on the T serves.
:17:21. > :17:25.UMPIRE: Time. Millman doesn't have a tonne of options out here. Had eis
:17:26. > :17:30.by nature a greyhounder and he is playing against one of the best
:17:31. > :17:37.grinders, Andy Murray of course. And for him it is hard to see a way, it
:17:38. > :17:42.is more of a hit, run and hope that Murray keeps his eyes off the ball
:17:43. > :17:45.at times and gives you mistakes. It is not going to be easy shredding
:17:46. > :17:51.for John Millman. What would you have said? The one game that he did
:17:52. > :17:57.do well on against Andy averaged I think 5 miles an hour more off the
:17:58. > :18:01.return. I think that he's got a gamble a it will bill. You are
:18:02. > :18:07.absolutely right, the groundsmen here at Wimbledon love to see a guy
:18:08. > :18:11.like Millman play, because he digs a trench along the baseline. That's
:18:12. > :18:16.his natural habitat all the way through. And you have to say he's
:18:17. > :18:19.got to get away from that natural style against Andy. Particularly on
:18:20. > :18:25.the second serve from Andy. I think he's got to pick his spot and just
:18:26. > :18:30.not close his eyes and be too reckless, but pick his spot and find
:18:31. > :18:34.a way to get in front in those rallies.
:18:35. > :18:42.APPLAUSE. UMPIRE: John Millman to serve. 40-0.
:18:43. > :18:45.Millman restarting here, 40-0 on his own serve, beginning of the second
:18:46. > :19:08.set. UMPIRE: Game Millman. First game,
:19:09. > :19:12.second set. Talked a bit about the Australian's exploits in Australia
:19:13. > :19:17.getting round to the third round. He had a tough loss in the French Open
:19:18. > :19:21.against John Isner when he was a set up, 40-0 up on his own serve. Yep,
:19:22. > :19:26.had multiple set points even after the three on his own serve, a
:19:27. > :19:28.tie-breaker lost that Washington. -Breaker lost that Washington. --
:19:29. > :20:02.lost that one. APPLAUSE. I wonder whether perhaps
:20:03. > :20:06.he should have been allowed to defend from that particular
:20:07. > :20:39.position, and where was John Millman in terms of the net.
:20:40. > :20:51.APPLAUSE. Did you like that return? I liked the return. More velocity.
:20:52. > :20:56.Up the middle as well. When you say, pick a spot. A lot of times people
:20:57. > :21:00.watching the sport think you mean wide. Up the middle is picking the
:21:01. > :21:04.spot. It is a good place against a lot of the st a lot of the top
:21:05. > :21:23.players as well - get being it under their feet.
:21:24. > :21:32.Especially on a surface like grass, it decelerates on a surface like
:21:33. > :21:36.this than many other. It is a misconception when players think the
:21:37. > :21:41.ball accelerates at times when it bounces off the grass. It is not
:21:42. > :21:49.that true, but it feels that way. Up the middle can be the smart move.
:21:50. > :21:58.And again Murray town the T with his serve. Millman with a little
:21:59. > :22:00.reaction there. That ball as it hit the line spun the opposite way to
:22:01. > :22:21.what he was expecting. APPLAUSE. It does not appear that
:22:22. > :22:29.Millman is aware of the serving patterns of that young lady's son.
:22:30. > :22:41.He's gone right up the middle of the serves time and time again. We
:22:42. > :22:44.talked at the start about the accuracy of Andy's serve and why it
:22:45. > :22:48.is important. Millman doesn't quite have the wide serve that Andy is
:22:49. > :22:53.hitting, so it opens up the corridor down the T as well. Millman can't
:22:54. > :23:42.sit on that serve. Serve. Although perhaps right now he should.
:23:43. > :23:59.Some Manchester United legends there. David Beckham and Bobby
:24:00. > :24:14.Charlton just behind him. Andy's opponent today a big
:24:15. > :24:55.Liverpool fan. APPLAUSE. He's got a bit of traction
:24:56. > :25:11.and more important a Leif Millman at the start of the second.
:25:12. > :25:22.From Millman, he is used to getting the benefit of unforced errors. He
:25:23. > :25:26.hasn't picked up on the service direction that Andy Murray has been
:25:27. > :25:31.deploying consistently. There you can see the aces in the red balls
:25:32. > :25:36.but the most important thing is this centre channel that Andy's been
:25:37. > :25:39.serving down there will. 64% on the forehand side, 78% on the backhand.
:25:40. > :25:44.Clearly because he's doing that, that ball from Millman is going back
:25:45. > :25:48.up the middle to him as well. Murray knows he is the better player in the
:25:49. > :25:54.neutral rallies, if he has the patience to be. Murray will need to
:25:55. > :26:00.cut down on the unforced error count node to get a lead in this set.
:26:01. > :26:05.Hurry has the great comfort of the better return of serve and the
:26:06. > :26:09.ability to broke quite frequently. Twice in the first set out of four.
:26:10. > :27:02.Service attempts by Millman. APPLAUSE. It is one thing to have a
:27:03. > :27:28.strategy. It is another to execute it as effectively as he did here.
:27:29. > :27:45.Murray not as sharp indoors as he was outside when this roof was open.
:27:46. > :27:51.Players talk about it being more humid when the roof is closed,
:27:52. > :27:53.heavier conditions, tougher to generate pace. Maybe Murray is
:27:54. > :28:15.trying a little too hard here. APPLAUSE. In the first set he
:28:16. > :28:19.started making a few unforced errors. He does a little bit of that
:28:20. > :28:23.here as well. Plays conservatively until he gets his man out of
:28:24. > :28:40.position, and then comes in for the easy volley.
:28:41. > :28:47.That's what separates the top players from the rest of the field.
:28:48. > :28:52.Murray is certainly in that pack. Having all the offensive skills and
:28:53. > :28:54.the awareness to fall back on defence when our offence isn't
:28:55. > :29:06.working. Pete Sampras, for example, if he had
:29:07. > :29:11.a cold day he couldn't beat himself. He lost more than these guys did.
:29:12. > :29:26.APPLAUSE. That average second serve speed
:29:27. > :29:32.about 89 today that. Last one from Andy was 81. Millman taking full
:29:33. > :29:52.advantage of it. Has to be careful not to be too conservative.
:29:53. > :30:00.He has a little bent arm when he hits the backhand. You look at Andy
:30:01. > :30:05.and Novak in full flight, theirs is so straight as they get through the
:30:06. > :30:07.ball. Millman, both arms working in unison and it is harder for him to
:30:08. > :30:39.generate pace. Extremely well done with that
:30:40. > :30:44.backhand down the line. This land is perfectly on the line. And he just
:30:45. > :30:46.goes right behind Mr Murray. And he just goes right
:30:47. > :31:45.behind Mr Murray. A 98 mph second serve and Millman
:31:46. > :32:05.did not catch up to it at all. One of those serving games, when
:32:06. > :32:09.Andy gets through them, he starts prowling around at the back of the
:32:10. > :32:28.court, a warning shot. Trying to make Millman pay here.
:32:29. > :32:35.That is a different view above with the roof. Sometimes, the first time,
:32:36. > :32:42.you take it out of the air, and it is just a little different. Does not
:32:43. > :34:13.look like the most proficient overhead, anyway.
:34:14. > :34:17.He is searching for his best tennis. He has yet to find it. A fluctuating
:34:18. > :34:28.performance. It seems like Murray is still trying
:34:29. > :34:34.to acclimatise to the conditions with the roof closed. He has not
:34:35. > :34:48.quite dialled it in yet. Nine unforced errors in the first
:34:49. > :35:11.set, he already has 12 in this early stage of the second set.
:35:12. > :35:20.Credit to Millman, he has done a wonderful job, one of those
:35:21. > :35:25.backhands he hit out of his back pocket and how we got it back across
:35:26. > :35:30.court I will never know. If you were with us at the beginning of the
:35:31. > :35:33.match, we talked about John Millman and his trials and tribulations.
:35:34. > :35:39.This is his first appearance on Centre Court at the age of 27. He
:35:40. > :35:42.has had experience with the word perspective, which is something that
:35:43. > :35:48.unfortunately tends to come with something bad happening in your life
:35:49. > :35:53.and for him it was a shoulder injury in 2013 and some surgery that led
:35:54. > :35:57.him off the tour, but also into the real world. He put on a suit and
:35:58. > :36:01.went to work in finance for a period of time before his health allowed
:36:02. > :36:05.him to resume the pursuit of his dreams. This is a man with a rare
:36:06. > :36:11.perspective within the locker room of what the rest of the world
:36:12. > :36:15.experiences and I am sure a greater appreciation as a result for the
:36:16. > :36:20.chances in front of him to be on this court, playing against one of
:36:21. > :36:25.the game's great players. And to deal with whatever comes at him. He
:36:26. > :36:31.is definitely a glass half full kind of guy, as you probably noticed when
:36:32. > :36:45.he missed the overhead and smiled. He is likeable. Andy's dad is in
:36:46. > :36:49.attendance today. Millman's father owns a tennis centre. That is a nice
:36:50. > :36:55.advantage for a kid, if you want to play tennis.
:36:56. > :37:52.And a sense of perspective, as well, coming from a big family.
:37:53. > :38:03.Very clean and very precise. No chance of Millman, so far, getting
:38:04. > :38:28.involved in this. A nice, quick service game. Not
:38:29. > :38:33.quite as fast as Nick Kyrgios' yesterday, in 39 seconds. Carl Froch
:38:34. > :38:40.on the right, Nicola Adams on the left. An Olympic gold medal, world,
:38:41. > :39:10.Commonwealth and European games champion. A decent resume.
:39:11. > :39:24.Unbelievable. Vision, creativity, imagination, all loaded into one
:39:25. > :39:33.gorgeous shot. It took awhile. The 22nd shot in the rally, which gets
:39:34. > :39:39.it for Murray. A beautiful spinning knock-macro.
:39:40. > :40:10.UMPIRE: Vista Murray is challenging the ball.
:40:11. > :40:28.It has been a test for these guys the last couple of rallies. UMPIRE:
:40:29. > :40:41.Repaid the point. Mr Murray has two challenges remaining.
:40:42. > :40:44.Just the sixth time Andy has not been able to get the ball back into
:40:45. > :41:07.play of a Millman serve. Great net coverage from Murray.
:41:08. > :41:34.Hesitation about coming in, but he held his balance well.
:41:35. > :41:45.Well played, John Millman. All he could do was make life uncomfortable
:41:46. > :41:54.for Murray at the net, and he did just that. You can see how taxing it
:41:55. > :41:56.has been on both players, they are puffing out there, it is a very
:41:57. > :42:28.physical game, this one. Huffing and puffing, Millman maybe,
:42:29. > :42:39.but it may be Andy who blows his house down here.
:42:40. > :42:45.This is where the servers tossed tell really hurts Millman. When he
:42:46. > :42:50.throws it over his shoulder, all he can do is kick it. Murray knows
:42:51. > :42:53.where it is going, backhand side. And he is all over him. The last
:42:54. > :43:15.couple of second serves. Serving different patterns on the
:43:16. > :43:20.first serve, Murray. -- bain-marie. Going more wide than Andy. The
:43:21. > :43:26.second serve is too predictable and it is something he could change
:43:27. > :43:32.easily. Particularly when you are going up against Murray, who is an
:43:33. > :43:36.amazing returner, especially off the backhand side. So solid and
:43:37. > :43:43.aggressive. Some more variety would put doubt in Murray's mind. For Andy
:43:44. > :44:00.it is just perfect. Millman is barely winning points on
:44:01. > :44:04.his own serve. You say it is easy to change, how? Can he throw the ball
:44:05. > :44:10.in a different position? Will he give it away by doing that? Changing
:44:11. > :44:19.the toss a little bit so it is not quite so far over to the side. A
:44:20. > :44:24.little bit of variety. Hitting the slice second serve, as well as the
:44:25. > :44:26.kicker. We have serves called the liars, when you work hard to hit it
:44:27. > :45:19.up the T. He tried to make it happen later in
:45:20. > :45:21.the rally than perhaps he should have done off the serve, which was
:45:22. > :45:46.safe, up the middle of the box. Andy has been winning the majority
:45:47. > :46:07.of the shorter points. 33 of those between zero and four
:46:08. > :46:29.shots. Nice. How about that for variety on
:46:30. > :46:31.the second serve? Millman got a lesson in what you were talking
:46:32. > :46:38.about from his perspective. Great accuracy to the line. Driving
:46:39. > :47:00.Millman out wide. Things are progressing nicely for
:47:01. > :47:17.the world number two currency. -- currently.
:47:18. > :47:29.That is about as good as it gets. It is a quality second serve from a
:47:30. > :47:34.speed standpoint, 98 mph, but it does not help if your opponent knows
:47:35. > :47:45.where it is going. Not when your opponent is Andy Murray.
:47:46. > :47:56.A couple of the last backhands he has lent on, he has got both feet
:47:57. > :48:28.off the ground to keep the ball between shoulder and waist high.
:48:29. > :48:41.Congratulations, John Millman. Way to go. Seriously. Nice move. That is
:48:42. > :48:45.paying attention. You have been punched senselessly on second serves
:48:46. > :48:56.on the backhand. Open up the court. There you go.
:48:57. > :49:03.And now you have put a little bit of doubt in Andy Murray's mind. A
:49:04. > :49:09.second serve back to the backhand would be more effective, you would
:49:10. > :49:13.think. I would probably hit a fume or out wide, just to reinforce that
:49:14. > :49:45.if you are Millman will -- Millman. Murray almost wandering into the
:49:46. > :49:51.net. When he got to the ball, injecting a lot of pace. Certainly a
:49:52. > :49:57.player who looks more comfortable at the net. Millman a little reluctant
:49:58. > :50:02.to come in, I wonder whether it is his smash, which is a bit of a
:50:03. > :50:06.liability, that is a reason why he is tentative about taking that step
:50:07. > :50:27.towards the net. Andy Murray has one of the best lobs on the tour.
:50:28. > :50:40.Billie Jean King and Margaret Court To the left.
:50:41. > :50:44.A fair amount of silver polish to sort out the trophies between those
:50:45. > :51:59.two. That is a full-time job. He has been searching for that
:52:00. > :52:14.particular backhand. And he has found it.
:52:15. > :52:50.He has changed it up again. Another tick in the box for Millman, and
:52:51. > :53:20.better length, just catching Murray out.
:53:21. > :53:34.UMPIRE: Mr Millman is challenging the call.
:53:35. > :53:51.If you miss your first serve, you should not get another one. That is
:53:52. > :54:21.a rule that should be changed. Murray is looking it imperious form.
:54:22. > :54:29.Great footwork to take the ball on the rise. Easier to generate pace
:54:30. > :54:43.will -- pace on a ball that is dropping.
:54:44. > :55:24.Set point down and he stands and delivers.
:55:25. > :55:55.A degree of frustration is being shown by Murray.
:55:56. > :56:04.It was a game that encapsulates everything John Millman is about.
:56:05. > :56:11.Heart, desire, and a lot of hard work and he gets his reward.
:56:12. > :56:17.Andy Murray gets a chance to serve it out. We have been talking about
:56:18. > :56:30.the ball toss. How Millman's is obvious. Sam Querrey has beaten
:56:31. > :56:38.Novak Djokovic and that has hit the scoreboard and prompted a crowd
:56:39. > :56:41.reaction. We will see what it looks like for these players. The service
:56:42. > :57:02.contact. Judy Murray's reaction to that
:57:03. > :57:15.score. She gave away a little bit more than her son. The director has
:57:16. > :57:23.wisely chosen Judy Murray's image over the service selection. Murray
:57:24. > :58:55.now to try to serve this set out. The frustration is becoming more
:58:56. > :59:00.evident for Murray fans right now. Tantalisingly close to being 2-0 up
:59:01. > :59:03.and Millman within touching distance in his own mind of perhaps levelling
:59:04. > :59:24.this second set. Again, credit to Millman. Sitting on
:59:25. > :59:28.the serve. The 18th on forced error in this set from Andy Murray and now
:59:29. > :59:39.three chances to get this tied up at five.
:59:40. > :00:05.UMPIRE: Mr Murray is challenging the call.
:00:06. > :01:02.Mr Murray has won challenge remaining.
:01:03. > :01:08.Both players extended on that particular set point. Millman not
:01:09. > :01:14.looking that convincing when he was coming forward, there. Murray keeps
:01:15. > :01:59.him at bay for one more set point. I have to say from where we are
:02:00. > :02:04.sitting it did feel a little wide. Murray got a sense it was also out,
:02:05. > :02:09.and we level, and that is the ultimate reward, really, for Millman
:02:10. > :02:28.after what was an epic service game to keep him in this second set.
:02:29. > :03:54.No lack of determination in this man's career.
:03:55. > :04:15.Longest rally of the match, 28 shots. Even Murray having to take
:04:16. > :06:08.down some oxygen after that one. Battle of wills out here right now.
:06:09. > :06:13.Millman is doing his part, playing the shock absorber out here in this
:06:14. > :06:20.set. But Murray really hold all the cards. He can play defence in, and
:06:21. > :06:23.he can do that. Break point chance here, Murray batting 50% for
:06:24. > :06:55.convergent. -- conversion. Brilliant from Millman. A couple of
:06:56. > :07:00.edge of your seat moments there in that rally. Wondered whether he'd
:07:01. > :07:07.missed his opportunity, could have drifted in, elected to stay back.
:07:08. > :07:34.Finally extracted the error from Murray.
:07:35. > :07:39.Murray doesn't need another invitation to get himself to the
:07:40. > :07:49.net, there. Saw his opportunity and took it. 21st rally in this second
:07:50. > :07:50.set. That's been nine shots or more. We just had eight in the opening
:07:51. > :09:00.set. Got to love Millman's willingness to
:09:01. > :09:04.compete. He's got to be loving this, too. Because he has his teeth so
:09:05. > :09:13.deep into this set right now. Staved off those set points at 5-3 and he's
:09:14. > :09:29.getting to play the style of tennis that he wants to play.
:09:30. > :10:09.I wouldn't just say that's been run, I'd say that's been sprinted.
:10:10. > :10:13.Wow, what a game from both players. Millman absolutely throttling that
:10:14. > :10:53.forehand. 94 mph on the winner. Goodness. Does Sam Querrey have
:10:54. > :10:56.something to do with this? Both playing inspired tennis after
:10:57. > :11:01.Querrey takes out Djokovic over on Court One. It will be interesting to
:11:02. > :11:05.see how many second serve points he's won when he struck it short.
:11:06. > :11:07.When he's got it near the service line he's had a bit of success. But
:11:08. > :11:24.Murray just climbing into that. He's missed it. Mr Millman is
:11:25. > :11:29.challenging the call on the right far sideline. Just figuring out a
:11:30. > :11:32.way to get one more back, then he did a good job of making himself
:11:33. > :11:42.appear bigger at the net than perhaps he was. Another break point
:11:43. > :11:46.for Murray. Sure slice, that was purely intentional. Millman just a
:11:47. > :12:11.little unsure what to do at the net. Replay the point. Mr Millman is
:12:12. > :12:16.challenging the call on the baseline, it was called in. Andy is
:12:17. > :12:21.not happy that the umpire has given Millman the chance to challenge.
:12:22. > :12:27.Felt as though it was too long in coming. But it's all academic. He's
:12:28. > :12:46.got another chance here to break serve.
:12:47. > :12:55.He's just creating the highlights show for us.
:12:56. > :13:21.Well, 90 mph forehand, 85 mph backhand, just as we pictured it.
:13:22. > :13:30.He does just like that one layer at the net that the best players have.
:13:31. > :13:34.They are so complete, so many ways to hurt you. Millman again just
:13:35. > :13:53.reluctant to make the move towards the net. Break point number four.
:13:54. > :14:01.Because the ground strokes are world-class. He's hanging tough.
:14:02. > :14:08.Might be frustrated here, Millman is picking up so many shots. The only
:14:09. > :14:42.time he wants to be at the net is when he is shaking hands.
:14:43. > :14:57.Spell blindingly good. That's fantastic. A wry smile from Jason
:14:58. > :15:02.Stauffenberg. As he delivers a beautiful volley here, it must be
:15:03. > :15:12.said. Shortening the court, giving Murray no play on it. See that? I
:15:13. > :15:27.can volley! You are right, you are absolutely right.
:15:28. > :15:40.Still has more work in front of him. Murray just gliding in, well aware
:15:41. > :15:42.how soft his hands. He's going to need a bed at the changeover, not a
:15:43. > :16:27.chair. Awkward looking shocked. He had a
:16:28. > :16:29.lot of time to think about what to do with it as well, and didn't have
:16:30. > :16:46.a lot of pace on it. He ran out of resistance, did
:16:47. > :17:14.Millman. What a game of tennis. He will get a second chance to serve
:17:15. > :17:17.for this set, Andy Murray. He really ramped up the aggression in the last
:17:18. > :17:24.game which is something that had really been lacking since the roof
:17:25. > :17:32.closed. In the first set Murray had been pretty aggressive. Right here,
:17:33. > :17:37.right now indeed. Great song from Jesus Jones, just if you are
:17:38. > :17:43.wondering. Keep accelerating that forehand. Millman has been able to
:17:44. > :17:51.keep his speed levels the same indoors versus outdoors. Covered a
:17:52. > :17:54.lot of turf here in the last game. Murray, his speeds, as we see here
:17:55. > :18:12.on the graphics, ever consistent. Murray with the roof open, 76 mph,
:18:13. > :18:16.72 on the closure. Heavier conditions. Seems like he picked it
:18:17. > :18:21.up a lot in that last game. Seemed to get his timing right. I think the
:18:22. > :18:33.absence of alternatives cleared his mind nicely. As for Millman, has he
:18:34. > :18:37.recovered enough from the exploits of the last game to put up any sort
:18:38. > :19:53.of challenge here? Very difficult shot that Millman shy
:19:54. > :19:57.to pick up, there. Because he was travelling at such speed, the
:19:58. > :20:13.finesse as well was always going to be tricky.
:20:14. > :20:49.Good return. The most pressurised situations.
:20:50. > :20:56.Just subtle differences, at times, you can see Murray's willingness to
:20:57. > :21:00.go to net, makes his feet were a bit better inside the baseline. You saw
:21:01. > :21:03.at the start of that point Millman was waiting for the ball because
:21:04. > :21:05.it's just not in his mind that that's where he wants to be heading
:21:06. > :21:31.as a destination. Straightforward down the middle but
:21:32. > :21:43.it's been anything but straightforward, this second set.
:21:44. > :21:50.But eventually the second set is his. And it was a wonderful contest
:21:51. > :22:03.a witness for the last 25 minutes or so. STUDIO: Well done, Andy, hanging
:22:04. > :22:06.on to take a 2-0 lead. But there are shock waves going around this
:22:07. > :22:12.tournament at the moment. Jim and Mark were talking about it. This is
:22:13. > :22:15.how Sam Querrey pulled off the biggest upset of the championship so
:22:16. > :22:22.far, the biggest upset in tennis this year. This is the final point,
:22:23. > :22:27.that error from Jankovic and Querrey is through. -- from Djokovic. Huge
:22:28. > :22:34.shock for this sport, the man who holds all four Grand Slam titles,
:22:35. > :22:38.look virtually undefeatable in the majors in recent years, hasn't lost
:22:39. > :22:43.at this stage in this tournament since 2009. Cannot emphasise how
:22:44. > :22:48.much this is a huge surprise. We expected Djokovic to come out today
:22:49. > :22:51.and be better than he was yesterday. He took the third set and had a
:22:52. > :22:58.chance to serve out for the fourth set and 5-4, wasn't able to take it,
:22:59. > :23:02.and Querrey took his chance. Querrey is the man who advances in this
:23:03. > :23:08.tournament, the biggest win of his career celebrated by his family,
:23:09. > :23:13.friends, coach. But also for Novak Djokovic, what a turning point this
:23:14. > :23:17.is. And for Novak Djokovic and his team, this is a massive
:23:18. > :23:20.disappointment. Boris has done his bit. We saw him on the practice
:23:21. > :23:25.court today, he certainly didn't look well, didn't look engaged in
:23:26. > :23:31.practice. We don't know what was wrong with him, maybe it is just all
:23:32. > :23:35.the pressure of maybe getting the calendar Grand Slam. We will hear
:23:36. > :23:43.from him later. Let's hear from the man who has pulled off this massive
:23:44. > :23:47.upset. Difficult match but the result is simple, you have beating
:23:48. > :23:50.world number one Novak Djokovic, sum up your emotions? It is incredible,
:23:51. > :23:56.especially at Wimbledon, biggest tournament in the world. So ecstatic
:23:57. > :24:01.right now, so happy, that's about it. Not just a matter of seeding,
:24:02. > :24:04.this is a player who holds all four Grand Slams and hasn't gone out in
:24:05. > :24:09.the third round of a Grand Slam since 2009. Where and how did you do
:24:10. > :24:13.it when others couldn't? Today I played the break points really well.
:24:14. > :24:17.Every time he had a break point I was able to come up with a big
:24:18. > :24:23.serve. In the end I fought the tie-breaker and got a couple of
:24:24. > :24:25.loose errors and that was it. Very frustrating this British summer
:24:26. > :24:29.Time, particularly the rain delay right at the end and also overnight,
:24:30. > :24:33.how concerned were you that he would be given the chance to regroup and
:24:34. > :24:41.regain momentum? We know how mentally he's strong he is. I was
:24:42. > :24:44.ready for that. Fortunately for me we had a second rain delay and I got
:24:45. > :24:49.to regroup. He is so amazing, arguably one of the best, possibly
:24:50. > :24:53.on his way to being the best ever, so you knew he was mentally tough
:24:54. > :24:57.and would come back. You put out the world number one, how far can you go
:24:58. > :25:01.in the rest of Wimbledon? I'm just taking it one round at the time and
:25:02. > :25:04.I'm not even sure who I play next. I'm going to be happy with this
:25:05. > :25:09.right now and look forward to the next round of little bit.
:25:10. > :25:12.Congratulations. Thanks. Novak Djokovic says he doesn't really want
:25:13. > :25:17.to talk about it, when asked if there was anything wrong. We will
:25:18. > :25:23.hope to hear a little more News of the World number one and the reasons
:25:24. > :25:27.for why he won't want to talk about it. But that's the story here, Sam
:25:28. > :25:32.Querrey has gone through, a big upset in the top half of the draw.
:25:33. > :25:36.Good news for Andy Murray as well. He's taken the second set, as we
:25:37. > :25:38.saw. We have just missed a few points here, so let's rejoin Jim and
:25:39. > :26:17.Mark. The chair umpire not saying it was
:26:18. > :26:26.clear enough to beat definitively out, so here comes the challenge.
:26:27. > :26:50.Mr Millman has two challenges remaining.
:26:51. > :26:55.He certainly decided to play the opening game of this third set
:26:56. > :26:58.inside the baseline, hasn't he, Murray? Very aggressive court
:26:59. > :27:37.position from the world number two. Ooh, Millman takes a spill. Looks to
:27:38. > :27:48.be OK. Murray seems determined not to engage in those 29 shot rallies,
:27:49. > :27:52.here. Showed good sportsmanship down under against Diego Schwartzman,
:27:53. > :27:57.John Millman, when the Argentinian really had some horrible physical
:27:58. > :28:02.problems. Cramping on the court. At 5-0 he eventually had to retire.
:28:03. > :28:15.Millman was the first to offer him salt tablets and everything else.
:28:16. > :28:22.It's been a year of extremes in the majors in tens of weather. Australia
:28:23. > :28:41.was an inferno first week this year. Going to be a break point chance for
:28:42. > :28:46.Murray, here. Subtle brilliance from Murray, he managed to get plenty of
:28:47. > :29:01.pace on what was a very low, awkward volley.
:29:02. > :29:10.Well, you go back and look at that point, you will see that John
:29:11. > :29:13.Millman just realised he had a somewhat allergic reaction when he
:29:14. > :29:17.went towards the net, because he hit the reverse gear pretty swiftly. And
:29:18. > :29:25.got himself caught in the man's land. -- no man's land. Murray
:29:26. > :29:29.played that game like he was in a hurry to get back home to see his
:29:30. > :29:38.daughter off to sleep. Very aggressive play and it played -- it
:29:39. > :29:44.paid off fine. Let's see whether Millman has another left in him like
:29:45. > :29:54.he did at the end of the second set. It's a big ask now, two sets and a
:29:55. > :29:57.break down. But this is a nice place to spend some time, Centre Court.
:29:58. > :30:07.I'm sure he's not in a hurry to get off it.
:30:08. > :30:16.As hard work as it may have been for John Millman, certainly nicer work
:30:17. > :30:22.than when he was buttoning up the top button and putting the tie on to
:30:23. > :30:27.get to the financial company he was working for. Does not look like a
:30:28. > :30:41.guy who wants to sit still too long, the way he plays tennis.
:30:42. > :30:48.I saw in the Australian newspapers, describing John Millman, they said
:30:49. > :31:08.he is like a caffeinated Jack Russell.
:31:09. > :31:17.We miss having a beat which master Rafael Nadal this year. Energy
:31:18. > :31:38.percolating from the Aussie, that is for sure. I hope Rafael the wrist is
:31:39. > :31:48.healing nicely and we will get to see him back on tour.
:31:49. > :31:54.It is like Usain Bolt running with a racket in his hand and being able to
:31:55. > :31:56.deal with that. Look how early he takes that so that Millman cannot
:31:57. > :32:43.recover. You cannot break the spirit of a man
:32:44. > :32:46.like John Millman, but you can show him the inevitable is going to
:32:47. > :32:53.happen and that is currently what is happening here.
:32:54. > :33:34.Beautiful use of the sliced top-spin from Murray. Drawing the easy one he
:33:35. > :33:38.can launch into that led to the backhand and this nice easy
:33:39. > :33:53.semi-smash. That is burrowing through the Centre
:33:54. > :34:03.Court. This match is moving away from John
:34:04. > :34:17.Millman pretty quickly. Looking for Murray to launch a big
:34:18. > :34:45.backhand if he gets one on this return.
:34:46. > :35:22.Yes, too good. You can win and you can win and entertain and Murray is
:35:23. > :35:28.doing that right now. It has been fun to watch this third
:35:29. > :35:45.set. Murray has been getting great value
:35:46. > :35:52.of the slice backhand. Millman is making contact here, when Murray
:35:53. > :35:57.slices the ball. That is an ankle bite. It is low. Murray has been
:35:58. > :36:05.hitting 41% of his backhands with the slice here. Just illustrating
:36:06. > :36:10.what Jim is saying. If you are John Millman, you have to rip up the back
:36:11. > :36:14.of the ball, put more spin on it. It is a safer shot. You cannot get
:36:15. > :36:22.through the opponent from there, it is setting you up. The French
:36:23. > :36:27.numbers, he was slicing 23% of the time. At the French it does not stay
:36:28. > :36:33.as low as it does on this surface. He's not trying to win the point
:36:34. > :36:42.with the slice backhand, but the shot after. John Millman can hit
:36:43. > :36:50.forehands into the 90s. When Murray gets one in his sweet spot, he let
:36:51. > :37:01.fly. It is a beautiful 1-2 combination.
:37:02. > :37:09.The only thing Millman can do to defend that is to re-slice it. Keep
:37:10. > :37:34.the ball low on Murray and ask the same question.
:37:35. > :37:40.It was effective against Stan Wawrinka in the Del Potro match, he
:37:41. > :37:43.was slicing crosscourt and very little stand could do in terms of
:37:44. > :37:58.getting up in the court and dominating the rally. -- Stan
:37:59. > :38:03.Wawrinka. Del Potro's left wrist has been surgically repaired three times
:38:04. > :38:07.and he can no longer dip a racket and generate the same top-spin on
:38:08. > :38:14.the backhand as he used to, so he has two slice.
:38:15. > :38:23.But it worked pretty well against Stan Wawrinka.
:38:24. > :38:41.Second set, 67 minutes. Almost 4-0 here in 16 minutes.
:38:42. > :38:53.UMPIRE: New balls, please. It is not a lack of hard work and application
:38:54. > :38:56.from John Millman. It is the fact that Andy Murray has shown he can
:38:57. > :39:04.elevate his standard of play to a place where Millman cannot live with
:39:05. > :39:09.him. Hard work will get you a long way in life, but hard work and
:39:10. > :39:10.abundant talent like Andy Murray has and the willingness to sacrifice
:39:11. > :39:29.takes you right to the top. At the French Open we said that Andy
:39:30. > :39:34.Murray was struggling to hang on in the first couple of rounds. There is
:39:35. > :39:39.a lot of skill that separates him from the pack, but his will also
:39:40. > :39:49.separates him at times and he needed every bit of it at Roland Garros. It
:39:50. > :39:56.has been the skill so far in a week one at Wimbledon that has carried
:39:57. > :40:02.him. The hard work is ahead of him in this tournament. All that work
:40:03. > :40:47.was behind him by now at Roland Garros.
:40:48. > :40:57.The other side of the scoreboard finally moving in this third set.
:40:58. > :41:02.Jim, did you have the same mentality as Andy at all stages of the match
:41:03. > :41:08.that literally every point felt as valuable. That point at 30-15, when
:41:09. > :41:12.he missed. He is chatting to himself, he is disappointed he did
:41:13. > :41:19.not make it. Were you the same, no matter what the score? For the most
:41:20. > :41:22.part, I think so. I was much more engaged than someone like Pete
:41:23. > :41:26.Sampras, who would not be bothered a lot of times when his opponent was
:41:27. > :41:36.serving because he was confident in his service game that he knew he
:41:37. > :41:39.needed just one break of serve. Rafael Nadal, he is a point by point
:41:40. > :41:47.player. Roger Federer, it does not seem he is quite as focus but his
:41:48. > :41:55.results would suggest otherwise. Andy Murray, it suits his
:41:56. > :42:19.personality. Neil Smith and Denise Lewis, a shot there.
:42:20. > :42:32.That was sweet. Fizzing like a shaken Coca-Cola. It has so much
:42:33. > :42:33.work on it. Watch the racket from Millman, when it goes from low to
:42:34. > :43:07.high. That was nice. He has done it. And he deserves
:43:08. > :43:16.something to remember this third set by. That was it.
:43:17. > :43:23.Revenge after the suffering from Andy Murray's lobs he has faced.
:43:24. > :44:37.That must have felt sweet. He continues to get better. His
:44:38. > :44:58.fastest serve of the match on the previous point.
:44:59. > :45:08.Again, the slice set up by a ball that Millman had to give Murray.
:45:09. > :45:13.This is interesting because Murray's body language indicated the ball was
:45:14. > :45:20.going out, which can make sometimes the lines person call. But that is
:45:21. > :45:24.why Millman challenged it. The interaction between the players. The
:45:25. > :45:38.body language communication, inadvertently, from Murray.
:45:39. > :45:58.He is really going after the second serve.
:45:59. > :46:06.Just a little silver lining at 0-30. But Murray now just a game away from
:46:07. > :46:50.a place in the last 16. Good from Millman to even track this
:46:51. > :46:59.down. The ball fluttered to the ground
:47:00. > :47:05.like a butterfly landing. Millman was running past the net. He had to
:47:06. > :47:08.make it that good. If he were going to win the point, but he could not
:47:09. > :48:00.do it. Talking about experience. Part of
:48:01. > :48:05.the process is figuring out what you can do, what you are capable of
:48:06. > :48:09.doing against top players. Millman, although he will come away from the
:48:10. > :48:14.match with a loss, will still have learned. That he is able, at the
:48:15. > :48:18.start of the match perhaps, keep Murray at bay more, changing his
:48:19. > :48:25.second serve position. Hitting it harder without offering up too many
:48:26. > :48:30.double faults. He has only served one in the match. He has frequently
:48:31. > :48:40.gone to the forehand of Murray with second serves, as of late. He
:48:41. > :48:58.extends his stay on Centre Court for perhaps one more game, Millman.
:48:59. > :49:06.The third-ranked Australian who is on his way to Rio for the Olympics,
:49:07. > :49:08.courtesy of the fact that Nick Kyrgios Bernard Tomic have made
:49:09. > :49:14.themselves unavailable for that. There is a lot to feel good about,
:49:15. > :49:20.even though he may go down in straight sets to Murray, but he has
:49:21. > :49:25.come out here and put in a creditable performance. Excellent
:49:26. > :49:29.tennis in the second set and his level of concentration and focus has
:49:30. > :49:33.been consistent. That is one area where he has matched Andy Murray in
:49:34. > :49:39.the match. A terrific professional doing what he can do. He has made
:49:40. > :49:45.nice adjustments. He is outclassed by Andy Murray, there is no shame in
:49:46. > :49:49.that. He is getting ever closer to playing the best tennis he is
:49:50. > :49:54.capable of. He will make a nice living as a professional tennis
:49:55. > :50:00.player, John Millman. He is 27 years of age and there is a lot of open
:50:01. > :50:28.road in front of him. People play in the majors at 30 plus these days.
:50:29. > :50:51.Trying something new. A crush Andrew -- and rush.
:50:52. > :51:06.Great effort. When the ball comes out with top-spin, there is only one
:51:07. > :51:23.way for that to happen and that is the ball bounces twice.
:51:24. > :51:28.His left shoulder is turned to the exit because that is where he is
:51:29. > :51:37.headed in a couple of points, he thinks.
:51:38. > :51:49.Did not stick around at Queen's. He needed to make a sharp exit. He may
:51:50. > :51:57.stay around longer if he goes on to win here a second time. Sealed with
:51:58. > :52:04.an ace. Smoothly through the first week.
:52:05. > :52:11.Smooth has not been a word you can associate with the weather and a lot
:52:12. > :52:14.of the seeds who have tumbled already. But Andy Murray has
:52:15. > :52:21.navigated his opening three rounds without dropping a set.
:52:22. > :52:30.The first man in the bottom half through to the second week. Matches
:52:31. > :52:41.still to come today, weather permitting. Andy Murray, untroubled,
:52:42. > :52:47.and looking pretty solid. As he moves to a potential other title and
:52:48. > :52:51.a big obstruction is out of the way, the man who has beaten him in the
:52:52. > :52:56.last two major finals, Novak Djokovic. We knew what to expect
:52:57. > :52:59.from this man. He has done it countless times in major
:53:00. > :53:04.tournaments, particularly on Centre Court, but a word for John Millman,
:53:05. > :53:13.what a performance, first time on Centre Court. Terrific effort. An
:53:14. > :53:18.old school Aussie. He put in a terrific effort, especially at the
:53:19. > :53:22.end of the second set, when challenging Murray from 5-3 down.
:53:23. > :53:36.Terrific shotmaking. Forcing some of the best from Murray. Andy Murray
:53:37. > :53:39.with a big smile to the Royal box where so many sporting legends have
:53:40. > :53:45.occupied seats throughout the contest today. He is among those, as
:53:46. > :53:56.well. He is a giant in British sport in terms of his achievements.
:53:57. > :54:03.He has ambitions to win here and ambitions, perhaps, still, to be the
:54:04. > :54:05.world's best. Ranked number one in the world. He has not achieved that.
:54:06. > :54:21.It is still a goal of his. Unbeaten since the reunion with Ivan
:54:22. > :54:26.Lendl. He will be thrilled how his man has got through the first week.
:54:27. > :54:31.It is so different to Paris. No question and with the easy
:54:32. > :54:36.scorelines, not a lot for Murray to be upset about. He has been focused
:54:37. > :54:44.and self-contained, which is how he plays his best tennis, historically.
:54:45. > :54:51.Smiles all around for the British fans inside Centre Court.
:54:52. > :54:56.Particularly as they have enjoyed the last hour and a half under the
:54:57. > :55:03.roof in the comfort of that and it was a comfortable win from Murray,
:55:04. > :55:11.who wins 6-3, 7-5, 6-2. He is with Lee McKenzie.
:55:12. > :55:15.Congratulations, you are through to the last 16. How do you assess your
:55:16. > :55:22.performance? It was a good match with longer rallies. John moves well
:55:23. > :55:27.and does not make too many unforced errors and he makes sure you are on
:55:28. > :55:31.it and the end of the second set was tough. When you go indoors it slows
:55:32. > :55:38.conditions and it was not easy to get through the court. I had to be
:55:39. > :55:43.more patient. I played good stuff in the third set. There was headshaking
:55:44. > :55:47.in the second set, were you frustrated you let him back in, or
:55:48. > :55:55.did he just raise his game? I do not know exactly what happened. I was
:55:56. > :56:00.creating chances. I had two set points at 5-3 and went down 0-40
:56:01. > :56:04.quickly on my serve, and he rushed to be on the first point and came in
:56:05. > :56:09.and played a good point on the second point. I was under pressure
:56:10. > :56:13.but I held strong. That was the most important point of the match at the
:56:14. > :56:18.end of the second set, the fact I managed to hold and get a big break
:56:19. > :56:23.at 5-5 after what felt like a 12 minute game. A lot of sporting
:56:24. > :56:28.greats in the Royal box and you made them happy and Ivan Lendl looked
:56:29. > :56:35.delighted. What is it like to perform at a high level in front of
:56:36. > :56:40.great sport stars? It is nice. I love all sport and follow at plot of
:56:41. > :56:45.different sports. When athletes from other sports come to watch yours it
:56:46. > :56:49.is very nice and nice for the players. It gives you a little bit
:56:50. > :56:55.of a boost and I am glad I managed to play a good match. Novak Djokovic
:56:56. > :56:59.is out of Wimbledon after being beaten by Sam Querrey. There are
:57:00. > :57:05.matches to go before the final, but does it make it easier for you to
:57:06. > :57:09.become Wimbledon champion again? I need to reach the final for that
:57:10. > :57:17.result to have any bearing whatsoever on my performance. I have
:57:18. > :57:24.fairy tough guys left in my half of the draw. Especially the next round.
:57:25. > :57:29.Novak's run has been amazing. He almost found a way to get back into
:57:30. > :57:39.that one today. What he has done in the last 12, 18 months, I do not
:57:40. > :57:43.think we will see for a long time. Unfortunate, obviously, for him, but
:57:44. > :57:46.an amazing run he has been on. We know his physical and mental
:57:47. > :57:53.strength, would you expect him to have come back and got through that?
:57:54. > :57:57.Right now, everybody expects Novak to win every match. The level of
:57:58. > :58:04.consistency he has had has been amazing. It is normal, in a way, to
:58:05. > :58:09.have one match, two matches when you do not play at your best and may be
:58:10. > :58:15.your opponent plays a great match. I did not see loads of it. Obviously
:58:16. > :58:21.you expect Novak to win, but at the same time it is impossible to win
:58:22. > :58:28.every match in every tournament. His amazing run has obviously come to an
:58:29. > :58:32.end. You played well, thanks. SUE BARKER: Murray is surprised that
:58:33. > :58:35.everybody at Wimbledon is in total shock Novak Djokovic is out but
:58:36. > :58:40.Murray has got the business done on Centre Court with another straight
:58:41. > :58:45.sets victory. He is through to the fourth round. And to the delight of
:58:46. > :58:50.everybody on Centre Court and sporting superstars in the Royal
:58:51. > :58:54.box. Back to the big story. Novak Djokovic going out to the big
:58:55. > :58:59.serving American Sam Querrey. It ended in the fourth set and we will
:59:00. > :59:03.relive the drama of the closing stages, joining the fourth set
:59:04. > :59:04.tie-break at 3-3 with Djokovic to serve and Andrew Castle and Tim
:59:05. > :59:23.Henman were watching. I am pretty sure this did not even
:59:24. > :59:54.touch the line, it was so far inside it.
:59:55. > :00:01.So much eye contact in this match between Djokovic and Boris Becker
:00:02. > :00:07.and his camp up there. Would love to have heard their conversations
:00:08. > :00:19.during the breaks, especially the last one.
:00:20. > :00:51.He's really on the edge, now. Two points for Querrey on his serve.
:00:52. > :01:04.Ooh, and bats away, too. -- that's away. Whatever happens Querrey will
:01:05. > :01:08.have a match point on his own delivery, but here's one against the
:01:09. > :01:19.two-time defending champion, number one seed.
:01:20. > :01:27.He's challenging the call, Querrey. Probably just to buy himself a
:01:28. > :01:43.little extra time. So. It's been over a year since anybody
:01:44. > :01:46.was able to beat Djokovic at one of these major championships. Is this
:01:47. > :02:14.the point? He's done it! Massive win for Sam
:02:15. > :02:23.Querrey. Massive shock for Wimbledon 2016. There will be no Novak
:02:24. > :02:31.Djokovic in week two at Wimbledon. It's all about slamming Sam! STUDIO:
:02:32. > :02:35.And Djokovic has gone down in a barrage of aces from the big serving
:02:36. > :02:40.American. Djokovic looked listless and strangely out of sorts. Usually
:02:41. > :02:44.so aggressive but not today, so what was wrong with the world number one?
:02:45. > :02:48.Let's find out. This is what he had to say after the match.
:02:49. > :02:54.Congratulations to Sam, you played a terrific match. He serves very well,
:02:55. > :03:00.as he usually does. I think that part of his game was brutal today.
:03:01. > :03:05.He made a lot of free points with the first served. And just well
:03:06. > :03:11.done. He overpowered me. Were you 100% healthy? Not really but this is
:03:12. > :03:18.not the time and place to talk about it. Again, the opponent was playing
:03:19. > :03:24.on a very high level and deserved to win. Well yeah, again, I don't want
:03:25. > :03:28.to take anything out of victory from my opponent today, he played very
:03:29. > :03:32.well and deserved to win. I had my chances may be in the fourth set
:03:33. > :03:39.serving for the set, tie-breaker I was leading. But just wasn't feeling
:03:40. > :03:44.the ball as well as I wished. But that sport. How might this impact
:03:45. > :03:51.your decision about Davis Cup? I'm not going to play Davis Cup. It's an
:03:52. > :03:56.amazing feeling, obviously, to be able to hold four grand times at the
:03:57. > :04:06.same time, coming into Wimbledon, I knew that mentally it's not going to
:04:07. > :04:11.be easy to re-motivate myself. But the importance of this tournament is
:04:12. > :04:16.so immense that you always find ways to really get inspired and prepare
:04:17. > :04:21.and tried to give your best. Obviously my best was not enough
:04:22. > :04:25.this year. We saw you practising on court 14 this morning and you did
:04:26. > :04:30.not seem yourself. What was your thinking this morning? I just don't
:04:31. > :04:35.want to talk about it, please respect that, thank you. How do you
:04:36. > :04:42.think you are going to deal with this? What's the best way for you to
:04:43. > :04:45.deal with the disappointment? Well, thankfully I have a family and I
:04:46. > :04:52.have a life outside of tennis, so there are plenty of things to look
:04:53. > :04:55.forward to. I will obviously paid more attention to those things than
:04:56. > :05:00.tennis in the next period, and I need it. It's been a very successful
:05:01. > :05:05.year so far but a very long and exhausting one. In every sense of
:05:06. > :05:10.that word. So I just need some rest. STUDIO: He has been the Superman of
:05:11. > :05:14.tennis in the last 12 months but today proving he is human and not
:05:15. > :05:17.really wanting to open up. We watched that practice session this
:05:18. > :05:22.morning as well and he did not look himself. Anyway, he doesn't want to
:05:23. > :05:27.talk about it, he has his reasons. But a big, big shock today. We'll
:05:28. > :05:31.have more tennis, we are leaving BBC One but there will be more tennis
:05:32. > :05:34.right the way through the evening on BBC Two and a highlights programme
:05:35. > :05:39.tonight at 8:30pm with Claire and the team. And then tomorrow we'll be
:05:40. > :05:46.back for People's Sunday. All the tickets have gone, but you can join
:05:47. > :05:51.us at 11:15am. Some singles matches and of course the doubles to catch
:05:52. > :05:55.up as well. So the sun is shining here at Wimbledon but we are still
:05:56. > :06:00.reeling from a massive shock. Yes, the unthinkable has happened. Novak
:06:01. > :06:10.Djokovic is out. The world number one will not feature in the second
:06:11. > :06:15.28-year-old Sam Querrey looking to cause the upset of the tournament,
:06:16. > :06:18.of the year. That is it. Djokovic has had a terrible time out there.
:06:19. > :06:40.Djokovic two sets down. # Been in the dark for weeks
:06:41. > :06:50.# And I realise you are all I need # I hope that I'm not too late
:06:51. > :06:51.#. He's done it! A shock for Wimbledon
