:00:41. > :00:54.Welcome to week two of Wimbledon. If if the first seven days are anything

:00:55. > :01:00.to go by... They expect the unexpected. It is going to be fast,

:01:01. > :02:09.furious. Always is. Magic Monday! If no Monday like it in the Grand

:02:10. > :02:22.Slams. It is exciting, my favourite, everybody eager to get in the

:02:23. > :02:30.ground, everybody left is on court. Steve Johnson, on Centre Court,

:02:31. > :02:46.against Roger Federer. Kuznetsova, at this stage for the first time

:02:47. > :02:52.since 2009, as is Berdych, Madison Keys expected to go for, Roger

:02:53. > :03:02.Federer is going to have a step up to date, against the American,

:03:03. > :03:18.Johnson, Venus Williams knows what it is about, 19th appearance, Court

:03:19. > :03:20.One today. And that is Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, and Mahut, good friends, two

:03:21. > :03:33.of four Frenchman, first time since 2008. Mahut against Sam Querry.

:03:34. > :03:48.Ending Djokovic's unbeaten run. This is the order of play. Roger Federer,

:03:49. > :03:54.first up, and on the 4th of July, American theme continues. And

:03:55. > :04:10.finally, match of the day. We're bias! Andy Murray yet to drop a set,

:04:11. > :04:21.against Kyrgios, firecracker. And finally, all French affair. Richard

:04:22. > :04:39.Gasquet and his guile against Jo-Wilfried Tsonga. And

:04:40. > :04:55.second, on court 18, but I can just tell you, Radwanska already on the

:04:56. > :05:02.red button, we will be joining that after the build-up. Go on the

:05:03. > :05:10.website to find out everything. Everybody, who is anybody, has been

:05:11. > :05:16.practising. We have seen Andy Murray, and Nishikori, followed by

:05:17. > :05:25.photographers. Is where we are. And this I am exhausted. Too much

:05:26. > :05:35.happening. It is the greatest day, manic Monday, all the men and women

:05:36. > :05:39.taking place, it does not happen at any of the other majors. And so much

:05:40. > :05:46.has already taken place. It has been crazy. It has been a strange

:05:47. > :05:57.tournament. Top seeds not looking dominant. I was doing Djokovic and

:05:58. > :06:01.Querry, that forehand, nailing it. Perhaps he can go farther. And they

:06:02. > :06:08.are looking forward to Johnson, and Roger Federer. You're having some

:06:09. > :06:21.trouble with the microphone. Happy Independence Day, by the way. Sun is

:06:22. > :06:24.shining! If you are here, it is great, but if you're at home, on

:06:25. > :06:28.television, it is also good because we are going to try to cover

:06:29. > :06:47.everything. We can take a look at the draw. It is different, as far as

:06:48. > :06:54.the top goes. Querrey, Mahut. And also, Goffin, practising at the

:06:55. > :06:57.moment, number 11, he has beaten Raonic in the past, you could almost

:06:58. > :07:04.think it is little and large, that is not a foregone conclusion. It

:07:05. > :07:14.could go five. And Andy Murray, tough section, Kyrgios, Jo-Wilfried

:07:15. > :07:17.Tsonga. Andy Murray had a good answer, when he was asked about

:07:18. > :07:24.Djokovic going out, he said that he has got a tough draw, and possibly

:07:25. > :07:29.Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, Gasquet, a lot of competition left. We have just

:07:30. > :07:40.been talking about Goffin, we saw him at the Davis cup final, heresy

:07:41. > :07:47.going to fare against the weapons? When he gets the ball back into

:07:48. > :07:55.play, 50/50, 60/40 in his favour. I have loved watching him, when he was

:07:56. > :07:59.with the Davis cup, another one of these matches, that if you can take

:08:00. > :08:06.a look at that, it is good to be fantastic. I think that is going to

:08:07. > :08:14.be Court Two. And we can take a look at the ladies. Serena Williams,

:08:15. > :08:23.looking better at the last March. We have seen that so often, stumbles at

:08:24. > :08:31.the third round, it was tight, bottom you are excited at the United

:08:32. > :08:43.States. Four left. All of those women, love the grass. Favourites to

:08:44. > :08:57.win. And the match at the bottom, Shvedova... Good luck to the umpire!

:08:58. > :09:03.Against Safarova. An opportunity, at the bottom half? Absolutely. And

:09:04. > :09:06.even Venus Williams, she does have a difficult game, against Suarez

:09:07. > :09:12.Navarro, it has been a few years since she has had a factor, and we

:09:13. > :09:17.have also brought Keys, Halep, Kerber. It is a huge opportunity for

:09:18. > :09:29.one of them to possibly reach the final. Where do we start? Murray.

:09:30. > :09:36.Andy Murray, was walking past, and he has been looking resource, yet to

:09:37. > :09:51.drop a set. He has played impressively, against Kyrgios was

:09:52. > :09:57.marked counterpart. Efficient, so far. He has looked controlled.

:09:58. > :10:02.Navigated the opening three rounds without dropping a set. How do you

:10:03. > :10:09.assess the performance? I thought it was a good performance, some tough

:10:10. > :10:17.moments at the end of the second set, 5-5 game, long game, both of us

:10:18. > :10:19.having opportunities, long points, physically it was testing but I

:10:20. > :10:41.managed to get through that. How aware about the situation with

:10:42. > :10:48.Novak? Crowd reacted? Obviously, you are aware, it is on the scoreboard,

:10:49. > :10:56.but after ten, 15 seconds, you are not focusing on your own March. Code

:10:57. > :11:05.you somewhat the first week? The last few matches, I have finished

:11:06. > :11:12.well, it has been stress free start. Hopefully I can keep that going.

:11:13. > :11:16.Novak is going to be belittling, his departure, people think you are

:11:17. > :11:20.going to be the favourite? I do not think you pay too much attention to

:11:21. > :11:25.what other people say, about who's going to be the secret. For that

:11:26. > :11:32.result to any impact on my competition, I need to reach the

:11:33. > :11:40.final. The next five, six, days, my job it is to try to win my matches.

:11:41. > :11:51.I need to be ready for the next one. He has got to be ready. He was good,

:11:52. > :11:57.against Milner, good tennis? He does not look like losing, any time soon.

:11:58. > :12:00.I know that he has got Kyrgios today, but I think he has been

:12:01. > :12:07.relying on the backhand. I think that has been Lendl's influence. We

:12:08. > :12:17.know that he is comfortable on the grass. And the personal life,

:12:18. > :12:23.fantastic. New dad. But this is when the work starts. No doubt somebody

:12:24. > :12:30.is going to get inspired against him. Kyrgios, all about confidence,

:12:31. > :12:33.who knows what can happen? So far Andy Murray has been looking

:12:34. > :12:37.composed. He has always been respectful of Kyrgios. We will see

:12:38. > :12:43.what happens. Dangerous opponent. One of these days, he going to rise

:12:44. > :12:55.up. Have a run. But hopefully not this one. You asked me who you pick!

:12:56. > :13:01.Just I think because of the surface, more even, Kyrgios is going to be

:13:02. > :13:08.the future, you cannot deny that, one of these times, he is going to

:13:09. > :13:13.get through, we saw Roger Federer do that 15 years ago, against Sampras

:13:14. > :13:23.so it is going to happen for Kyrgios at some point. But it does seem, for

:13:24. > :13:30.Andy, the Lendl addition has given him a boost. Fascinating. Andy

:13:31. > :13:33.Murray mentioned respect. That is certainly what Kyrgios has got for

:13:34. > :13:47.them. I think the relationship is pretty good. He is in the locker

:13:48. > :13:51.room, instant banter, fun. He has relaxed, it is good to have one of

:13:52. > :13:57.the best, being such a good friend. I have seen him at times, more than

:13:58. > :14:06.I see my family. The last couple of times I have played Andy, lost to

:14:07. > :14:11.him US Open, four sets, beat him later, by dismally few that he is

:14:12. > :14:20.beatable. Only human. I am obviously relaxed, nervous as well, but then

:14:21. > :14:31.looking forward to going out. Where does the basis of your friendship go

:14:32. > :14:37.back to? First time you hit it off? Terrible saying. Love at first

:14:38. > :14:50.sight! Such a character, in these conferences. The impetuous talent.

:14:51. > :14:55.Those that win count? The one that he talked about? It probably trims

:14:56. > :15:04.for Kyrgios, but not Andy Murray. Exhibition events, and Andy looks at

:15:05. > :15:10.that as trying to get fit, I do not think it is going to enter Andy's

:15:11. > :15:22.mind, but could give Nick confidence. Some breaks in that

:15:23. > :15:26.match. Some of the tennis, just lovely, both of them happy to

:15:27. > :15:34.express themselves. Facial expressions. And when they get

:15:35. > :15:39.animated, the crowd adore it. Holding posture at the end. I think

:15:40. > :15:47.Kyrgios is fantastic, but I do not think he is just fit enough yet, to

:15:48. > :15:59.get a run, he does not want to take a coach. He was asked about Lendl,

:16:00. > :16:02.and Andy Murray, but he was talking down the idea that it could be an

:16:03. > :16:08.addition to his doom. I think you need somebody. But to take Kyrgios

:16:09. > :16:13.on, you have a wonderful talent, and on the other hand, the complicated

:16:14. > :16:18.character. That makes them interesting. You never know what

:16:19. > :16:24.you're going to get. He was ranting at his support team. He wanted them

:16:25. > :16:38.standing, applauding him. He has only been fined $6500. Doing well! I

:16:39. > :16:42.think we can also see the same, from Andy, but he has been cutting back

:16:43. > :16:47.on that significantly, with Lendl in his corner. It is good to be

:16:48. > :16:51.interesting, Kyrgios behaving on Centre Court, against Andy, you do

:16:52. > :16:58.not want to be wasting energy, hopefully that is something that he

:16:59. > :17:11.matures out of. Dangerous opponent. What about Serena Williams? Coming

:17:12. > :17:18.out, easing past Beck? I think, when Serena has a scare, it sharpens her

:17:19. > :17:28.senses. This is what we saw, against Beck yesterday. Serena Williams,

:17:29. > :17:32.just taking it on, after going down a break in the opening set, as a

:17:33. > :17:35.presence on court, she is the one. Everybody probably thinks this is

:17:36. > :17:42.the greatest of all time, I am not sure if I can win this match. Does

:17:43. > :17:53.she look vulnerable? She has this habit, looking vulnerable, in the

:17:54. > :18:00.first week, gets out of it, but today, Kuznetsova has defeated her

:18:01. > :18:04.three times, not scared or intimidated by anybody. The

:18:05. > :18:10.interesting question, how much energy does Kuznetsova have? Long

:18:11. > :18:18.win yesterday. Took her almost three hours. You need all the energy,

:18:19. > :18:28.against Serena, I do not go with Kuznetsova can recover so quickly.

:18:29. > :18:40.And Serena didn't even know it was her 300th Grand Slam win! 800 aces.

:18:41. > :18:47.But we are going to be seeing Radwanska, against Cibulkova, the

:18:48. > :18:58.Eastbourne champion, coming out, on Court number three. That is

:18:59. > :19:00.Dominika, we will be going to this, Cibulkova has the disposition, could

:19:01. > :19:10.easily be troubling the number three seed. Not only does she have talent

:19:11. > :19:20.with tennis, but also the incredible sense of smell! Sniffing the tennis

:19:21. > :19:31.balls! How did it start! I like to smell things! If you give me balls

:19:32. > :19:40.from the US Open, Roland Garros, I would know! That is going to be the

:19:41. > :19:51.test, being able to detect, the different balls, venues. We have got

:19:52. > :20:02.all of them here. And we have got a blindfold. No expense spared. This

:20:03. > :20:18.is interesting. This is going to be funny. It is easy. It is from here.

:20:19. > :20:24.Yes. Wimbledon. Well done. I have been used to this for two weeks.

:20:25. > :20:45.This is the next one. The Australian Open. Goodness. Correct. Roland

:20:46. > :20:55.Garros. Yes! And it does not matter. Fourth is the fourth one! That is

:20:56. > :21:02.the incredible super powers! I have never seen anyone, with that in my

:21:03. > :21:12.life. Wear a cape! Bow! I am speechless. I get tell a white wine,

:21:13. > :21:18.not sure about tennis balls! It is good to see characters, taking a

:21:19. > :21:29.look behind the Pearson, playing tennis. It is good to try to sell

:21:30. > :21:36.characters. Such a good sport, about the habits, some of them want to

:21:37. > :21:42.deny it, but she is just a bundle of energy, hard hitting tennis,

:21:43. > :21:47.especially for not being tall. She defeated Radwanska, at Eastbourne,

:21:48. > :21:51.and getting married, this Saturday? We were joking about that. Clearly

:21:52. > :21:58.not thinking she had the chance to win. But I am sure she would happily

:21:59. > :22:02.postpone that. Absolutely. That is the match that we're going to, we

:22:03. > :22:11.have been at the practice courts, we have actually had some sunny

:22:12. > :22:15.weather, it has been a horrible week, Carol brought us rain, rain,

:22:16. > :22:23.more rain! We're going to get you one more chance. Thank you. You can

:22:24. > :22:29.see behind me, Henman Hill it is just a kaleidoscope of colour. This

:22:30. > :22:40.morning, it was a beautiful start. Hardly a cloud. But you can see that

:22:41. > :22:46.building. That is the forecast. More cloud. Bright, rather than wall to

:22:47. > :22:53.wall blue skies. Outside chance of showers. But that's all. Even this

:22:54. > :23:02.evening, it should still be pleasant, bright, dry, warm. Humid.

:23:03. > :23:10.Tomorrow... Cloudy start. Damp first thing. And then it is going to be

:23:11. > :23:16.gorgeous. Some sunny spells, fresher, and we could still get

:23:17. > :23:27.temperatures going up to 22 Celsius. Even on Wednesday, looking at a nose

:23:28. > :23:32.of high settled, dry. Thursday, more cloud. Risk of a shower. But that is

:23:33. > :23:42.all that it is. This week is looking good. My job, safe. Nose of high

:23:43. > :23:50.pressure? Yes. That is what it is like. It is elongated, like a nose.

:23:51. > :24:03.And Andrew has just been attacked by a bee!? Huge! The sunshine brings

:24:04. > :24:12.them out! That certainly made me nervous. I think I have pulled a

:24:13. > :24:17.muscle! Get the trainer! So I just have to ask, what you're looking

:24:18. > :24:33.forward to the more today? Day eight? It has been a long five weeks

:24:34. > :24:40.to Wimbledon! I am looking forward to Keys and Halep. We have been

:24:41. > :24:46.talking about Kyrgios, it is inevitable about him at some point,

:24:47. > :24:49.and if you were saying about Madison, huge opportunities and I

:24:50. > :24:51.believe she is going to be a future Wimbledon champion. It could be this

:24:52. > :25:13.year. Swan... She is the junior of the year, just

:25:14. > :25:19.lovely, that is one of those matches that I am going to be catching up

:25:20. > :25:23.on. And also, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, against Gasquet, anything left in

:25:24. > :25:29.the tank? They have not played since 2013. Thank you for joining me. We

:25:30. > :25:34.have got some action, to go to at the moment. But we can also show

:25:35. > :25:47.you, what is happening elsewhere. This is Court number 18.

:25:48. > :25:57.Vandeweghe on the red button. And the scale and open champion, Kerber,

:25:58. > :26:06.already a break up. But we are going to go to the match that we're

:26:07. > :26:11.talking about. Radwanska, against Cibulkova. We can join the

:26:12. > :26:17.commentators. Early stage of the first set. Court three. Radwanska

:26:18. > :26:42.serving. Another example of the punishing

:26:43. > :26:50.forehand, Cibulkova just moves the seat -- feet beautifully. Incredibly

:26:51. > :27:45.alert. Such a good sense of urgency. Half chance here. This is always an

:27:46. > :27:51.enjoyable match up. Played so many times. It is almost a contrast, the

:27:52. > :27:57.aggressiveness of Cibulkova, even although she is only 5'3. And the

:27:58. > :28:16.crafty Radwanska. Got down low, Radwanska. Cibulkova

:28:17. > :28:22.taken out of the court. Plenty of space. But sometimes, the easiest

:28:23. > :28:54.shots are the hardest. Fabulous touch. Both these two using

:28:55. > :29:00.that drop shot. Cibulkova, with a couple of incredible drop shots

:29:01. > :29:01.already. It is not often, you see Radwanska not able to track

:29:02. > :29:41.something like that down. One way traffic so far. Cibulkova

:29:42. > :29:51.breaks early, first set on court three. That there is is her fiance.

:29:52. > :29:55.The supposed to be getting married this weekend. But if things go

:29:56. > :30:00.according to plan, they have said they are going to put things back,

:30:01. > :30:32.by one week. I think she would be fine with that.

:30:33. > :30:38.Cibulkova has just looked so short already. Moving well, she always

:30:39. > :30:44.does that she is just looking to attack. Very accurate, playing with

:30:45. > :31:02.a lot of confidence after taking the title at Eastbourne.

:31:03. > :31:13.Both of these two not afraid to come to the net. Close out the point.

:31:14. > :31:38.Apply pressure. Half chance here for Radwanska.

:31:39. > :31:52.A little spin from Cibulkova and Didcot Radwanska off-guard, the

:31:53. > :31:55.slice, different changes of pace, so much more effective on this surface,

:31:56. > :32:28.they stayed download, get eccentric. The intensity is just so impressive.

:32:29. > :32:34.That is a lot of power. A little dynamo. She gets down so well.

:32:35. > :33:00.Quickly up to that swing volley. APPLAUSE

:33:01. > :33:08.She is a little pocket rocket, doesn't she? Just explodes up the

:33:09. > :33:09.ball, using her legs to create the power, bending, exploding out and

:33:10. > :33:45.forward. A fine comeback. 0- 30 down. She has

:33:46. > :33:55.built a healthy lead in this first set.

:33:56. > :34:03.Dominika Cibulkova on an eight match winning streak on grass, we talked

:34:04. > :34:09.about how impressive she was at Eastbourne, winning the title. She

:34:10. > :34:15.is growing in confidence as 2016 progressed, 38 at the start of the

:34:16. > :34:19.year, 19th seed here and the way she dispatched Eugenie Bouchard in the

:34:20. > :34:23.last round has caught everybody, they are looking at this and her and

:34:24. > :34:29.thinking this is the one we should be keeping an eye on. Exactly, you

:34:30. > :34:38.say Ni Bouchard to guide Johanna Konta in great fashion. -- Eugenie

:34:39. > :34:43.Bouchard. Cibulkova who lost earlier than expected at the French, took a

:34:44. > :34:51.little time off, a little vacation. A holiday in Greece with the man in

:34:52. > :34:57.your picture, just a moment ago. It is rare that they get that kind of

:34:58. > :35:03.time but... They found a pool and a beach and a Villa and they found the

:35:04. > :35:09.sunshine! It looks as if it is having an extremely positive effect,

:35:10. > :35:10.certainly when it comes to results! Radwanska in trouble, serving at

:35:11. > :36:16.1-4. Radwanska has too maintained that

:36:17. > :36:25.first service percentage. Her third game serving but she is down at 38%,

:36:26. > :36:29.her average would be around 70%, she has a second serve liability. Just

:36:30. > :36:39.wide... You get the sense her job right now

:36:40. > :36:42.is to make Radwanska play. The errors are coming off the racket of

:36:43. > :37:16.her opponent. Perfect point. Punishing, punishing

:37:17. > :37:22.forehand and backhand, she is targeting that Radwanska backhand a

:37:23. > :37:26.lot. But so aggressive, pushing Radwanska act behind the baseline,

:37:27. > :37:34.Jebel Colbert is on the baseline, bullying her around. Radwanska

:37:35. > :37:58.cannot produce her magic. -- Cibulkova. Kick of frustration.

:37:59. > :38:04.Radwanska, I would think she has to start changing the pace a little,

:38:05. > :38:08.not all eligible Colbert to hit every ball at waist level. Low

:38:09. > :38:31.slices, angles... Radar letting her down. She needs

:38:32. > :38:32.her temperament now, more than ever. Getting through an extremely

:38:33. > :38:47.difficult second round match. That is more like it! Much more

:38:48. > :38:54.positive point from Agnieszka Radwanska. That second round match

:38:55. > :39:01.she was down three match points late in the third set, the third match

:39:02. > :39:02.point was a net cord hanging and it finally dribbled onto the other

:39:03. > :40:06.side. The server is now beginning to

:40:07. > :40:08.crumble. Cibulkova's eyes light up when she sees that second serve.

:40:09. > :40:29.Break point here, 5-1. Better served!

:40:30. > :40:35.APPLAUSE The first serve in, better velocity,

:40:36. > :40:52.great accuracy, little slice to swing away from Cibulkova.

:40:53. > :41:07.Listen to her! You can hear her breathing as well, when she ran up

:41:08. > :41:09.to that shot. Great intensity. Dominika knows how important this

:41:10. > :41:58.game is. Double break... The second big chance... So much

:41:59. > :41:59.energy pre-return and that is celebrated on the return of serve

:42:00. > :42:52.motion. Uncharacteristic from Dominika

:42:53. > :43:02.Cibulkova, she held the top, Radwanska. Sign of nerves from

:43:03. > :43:08.Cibulkova, quick mistakes in the last three points.

:43:09. > :43:31.Healthy crowd here on Court Number Three.

:43:32. > :43:40.Yes... Just about good enough. These two played each other at Eastbourne,

:43:41. > :43:46.a match Cibulkova won a couple of weeks ago. You wonder how much that

:43:47. > :43:49.plays on the mind? It has to play on the mind, because of how recent it

:43:50. > :43:54.was and it was their only crosscourt meeting, laid three times this year,

:43:55. > :44:16.all three going to three sets, Cibulkova winning two.

:44:17. > :44:26.Counterpunching here from Radwanska. It's just managing to hold back the

:44:27. > :44:34.tide from the other side of the net, continuing to ask the questions.

:44:35. > :45:02.These two are so different emotionally. Cibulkova so pumped up.

:45:03. > :45:10.That makes it interesting. Another contrast between the two. Aga walks

:45:11. > :45:44.very slow between points, very tranquil demeanour.

:45:45. > :45:50.That forehand is her salvation at the moment.

:45:51. > :45:58.One shop that I remember Cibulkova getting to the finals of the

:45:59. > :46:00.Australian a couple of years back, it was heard down the lines, so spot

:46:01. > :46:16.on. Just grabbed the line, that

:46:17. > :46:33.Radwanska shot. Hanging tough. Dominika trying to challenge. The

:46:34. > :46:45.chair umpire saying no, she played that point.

:46:46. > :47:10.One of the most experienced umpires on the tour in the chair today.

:47:11. > :47:24.She has done it! The body language speaks volumes.

:47:25. > :47:32.SUE BARKER: 5-2 in the opening set but Radwanska has a habit of coming

:47:33. > :47:38.back. This is a long way from over, we will be back with that shortly.

:47:39. > :47:43.Andrew Castle said he was looking forward to seeing Katie Swan played

:47:44. > :47:47.but it hasn't ended well for her. A point to be broken, she is not

:47:48. > :47:51.moving very well... And at that point she called the trainer to the

:47:52. > :47:57.court for a problem with her right leg. And I think she knows that her

:47:58. > :48:02.Wimbledon Championships are over. She was forced to retire because she

:48:03. > :48:07.could not put enough weight on it, could not move around the court, a

:48:08. > :48:11.teenager with a huge future, she will be a big star for British

:48:12. > :48:15.tennis and you do not want to be injured at that young age. Huge

:48:16. > :48:20.disappointment for Katie, forced to withdraw from the Championships in

:48:21. > :48:22.the junior event, but keep an eye out for her, she will be a star of

:48:23. > :48:36.the future. Back we go. COMMENTATOR: Aga Radwanska serving

:48:37. > :48:42.to stay in the first set, the number three seed, going to have to use

:48:43. > :48:47.every ounce of that resolve of Hirst which she has become famous for

:48:48. > :48:51.here. She often gets herself in scrapes but she has a history of

:48:52. > :48:55.getting out of them. She does, and she has the more difficult time with

:48:56. > :49:01.players that hit with power, it doesn't afford her time to create

:49:02. > :49:11.her magic. She cannot match their power.

:49:12. > :49:17.Right on the line, but shot from Radwanska. Forcing Cibulkova

:49:18. > :50:16.backwards instead of forwards. Cibulkova pressing just a little too

:50:17. > :50:17.much, it's always difficult to find that fine line, going after your

:50:18. > :50:34.shots but keeping the mistakes down. All about the return of serve that

:50:35. > :50:37.time. Radwanska, so good at diffusing power and deflecting

:50:38. > :51:14.shots, even that was too much. The depth of ball striking from

:51:15. > :51:32.those two, really impressive. It's not that bad, it's not that

:51:33. > :51:41.bad. Probably filled with nerves. And trying to look town-mac two. --

:51:42. > :51:59.calm. She should have really done more

:52:00. > :52:08.with that, that second serve came to her at 68 miles an hour.

:52:09. > :52:18.She is hanging on, Agnieszka Radwanska in that first set but for

:52:19. > :52:24.how much longer? Looked like a nervous drop shot to me from

:52:25. > :52:25.Cibulkova, a little bit of a bailout, hitting the middle of the

:52:26. > :52:59.net. Such depth. She is not holding back

:53:00. > :53:06.here, is she? Keeping the foot firmly on the throttle. You see

:53:07. > :53:27.Cibulkova smelling the balls, she does that for good luck!

:53:28. > :53:37.Just made it! A punch of delight, she knows that she is two points

:53:38. > :53:40.away. Radwanska hit the approach up the middle, tried to take the angle

:53:41. > :53:52.away from Cibulkova, she was up to the task.

:53:53. > :53:59.UMPIRE: time violation, warning, missed Cibulkova.

:54:00. > :54:11.Cibulkova gets another one, she will lose a first serve. She will have to

:54:12. > :54:36.start the point with a second serve. With two set points, she held her

:54:37. > :54:40.nerve well, she could have been easily rattled by the warning. A

:54:41. > :54:57.feud deep breaths. A cry and she takes the first set,

:54:58. > :55:02.she has been all authority, all conviction. Are we on for a shock

:55:03. > :55:13.here on Court Number Three, Cibulkova takes the first set.

:55:14. > :55:19.SUE BARKER: Martina Navratilova is turning 60 this year. She is an

:55:20. > :55:24.inspiration and if I was an inspiration to her, she has been one

:55:25. > :55:28.to me. Defecting to America she transformed the sport. Everyone has

:55:29. > :55:34.a lucky break in life, she was mine. Martina for ever will be the best

:55:35. > :55:41.singles and Mixed Doubles player, and all-round great athlete. So

:55:42. > :55:42.wonderfully joyous when she won. Eight Pioneer, an activist, and

:55:43. > :55:56.icon... That documentary on Martina will be

:55:57. > :56:02.shown tonight at 10:45pm and in Wales it will be shown at 11:40pm,

:56:03. > :56:06.that documentary on the life of Martina, from Czechoslovakia to

:56:07. > :56:15.becoming a great champion. Let's show you what's happening elsewhere,

:56:16. > :56:18.magic Monday, here is an estate Pavlyuchenkova taking the opening

:56:19. > :56:23.set from Coco Vandeweghe on who looked so impressive on Centre Court

:56:24. > :56:29.with a big grasscourt game but the 21st seed, taking the opening set.

:56:30. > :56:34.Already a break of serve up in the second set, that match on the red

:56:35. > :56:40.button. And the Australian Open champion and surely curb has taken

:56:41. > :56:47.the first set against Misaki Doi, these two met in the opening round

:56:48. > :56:54.of the Australian Open, Misaki Doi had a match point, Angelique Kerber

:56:55. > :57:02.went on to say that, in charge today, 1-0 up in the second, that

:57:03. > :57:07.match is online. COMMENTATOR: she will take it.

:57:08. > :57:14.Cibulkova did a good job getting out of the way of that ball, did not

:57:15. > :57:18.want to step on it, 7-7 in the third, she stepped on a ball similar

:57:19. > :57:48.to this and... Finished the match but was not moving well.

:57:49. > :57:52.Using the angles again beautifully, Cibulkova. Hitting the ball on the

:57:53. > :58:19.rise. Timing impeccable today. That was too good.

:58:20. > :58:24.APPLAUSE Deuce on that serve, 103 miles an

:58:25. > :58:32.hour. Great composure from Radwanska. The fastest of the match

:58:33. > :58:38.for Radwanska, the fastest of the tournament for her, 105.

:58:39. > :58:45.APPLAUSE Mixing it up nicely, that time, the

:58:46. > :58:51.slice doing all the work. First case of the match.

:58:52. > :59:44.Continuing to hit within three feet of the lines, Cibulkova.

:59:45. > :59:54.I think Radwanska feels the need to up the anti, just a bit, go for a

:59:55. > :00:51.little more. Good game to win. Has to hang tough,

:00:52. > :01:20.find a way. One of nine junior Wimbledon

:01:21. > :01:30.champions in this year's field, but after the Bouchard defeat the only

:01:31. > :01:37.one left. She has come so close, heartbroken 2012, against Serena,

:01:38. > :01:48.semi finalist here. Does she have the game to go all the way? I think

:01:49. > :02:32.if the draw opens up, she has an advantage, she loves this surface.

:02:33. > :02:45.Has enough whip that time! Just to bring the ball down. Just such

:02:46. > :03:13.tremendous speed from Cibulkova. Point. Fantastic Radwanska, doing

:03:14. > :03:23.brilliantly to get that back, but the movement from Cibulkova,

:03:24. > :03:32.extraordinary. This ball was dying. Radwanska, impressive from an

:03:33. > :03:42.awkward position but Cibulkova, such finesse, meeting that look easy. --

:03:43. > :03:53.making. Down the line again. It is one of her favourites. The food

:03:54. > :03:58.work, -- footwork, so impressive. Getting enough room from the shot

:03:59. > :04:35.when she strikes it. She has not dropped a set in the

:04:36. > :04:49.Championships, so far. Bundle of energy. Some players look at their

:04:50. > :05:00.racket between points. But this one, incessant. And her opponent, feeling

:05:01. > :05:11.that energy. Everybody knows that Cibulkova is back to being

:05:12. > :05:28.dangerous. 2015, after Antwerp, surgery, out for four months. But

:05:29. > :05:33.Cibulkova has come back, Eastbourne, took a while to get that movement

:05:34. > :05:56.back. The confidence. But it is on display today.

:05:57. > :06:10.Pace of this game going one way. Number three seed unable to find an

:06:11. > :06:31.answer. That ball checked, hit the line and

:06:32. > :06:40.bounced up. It is tough to adjust the swing path, mid swing.

:06:41. > :07:02.Out. The break for Cibulkova, controlling the energy of the match.

:07:03. > :07:12.We have got a very cross-court, backhand, drop covered on the BBC.

:07:13. > :07:22.You can watch action from up to 15 court, on the website, and the app,

:07:23. > :07:33.on mobile, console. The waiting is over! Use the red button, and on

:07:34. > :07:46.Freeview, and you will get the choice of an extra 15 matches, via

:07:47. > :07:56.cable. It is a beautiful day, day eight of the Championships, court

:07:57. > :08:03.three between Radwanska and Cibulkova, the Eastbourne champion,

:08:04. > :08:10.everything seems to be shining for her at the moment. May not be

:08:11. > :08:18.getting married this weekend! But will over the next couple of weeks!

:08:19. > :08:25.Has the break in the second set! Now he's smiling. Maybe not! Range of

:08:26. > :09:04.emotions here. Radwanska, a little rattled. Rarely

:09:05. > :09:53.see that. Trying to figure out how to mute the power.

:09:54. > :10:34.on target. Radwanska not as much time to dictate. Can have a lapse or

:10:35. > :11:57.two. What a point! Coolness from

:11:58. > :12:11.Radwanska. Breaks back. Level terms, set two. First game, you felt

:12:12. > :12:16.Radwanska. Was holding the strings, pushing Cibulkova around. Side to

:12:17. > :12:51.side, forward. So good at soaking up pressure,

:12:52. > :13:01.Radwanska. Cibulkova was throwing everywhere. You have got to be

:13:02. > :13:11.thinking, keep them deeper, can Cibulkova sustain this level?

:13:12. > :13:57.These two trading punches, toe to toe. The movement, for Cibulkova,

:13:58. > :13:59.getting around the ball... Incredible shoulder turn, coiled

:14:00. > :14:09.then uncoils together. Like a spring. Turning the ebb and flow

:14:10. > :14:28.back in her favour. Right on the front foot. Hit the hour mark.

:14:29. > :14:51.Too ambushes. The # Ambitious.

:14:52. > :15:10.That was too simple. Just good anticipation, from Cibulkova. She

:15:11. > :15:15.knew where Radwanska was going to hit it. Radwanska, six tenths at the

:15:16. > :15:35.net today. Even hits the shots out, pumping the

:15:36. > :15:38.legs! I think she was trying to say she needed better footwork. A little

:15:39. > :15:57.too close. Good game to win. She has been

:15:58. > :16:10.pushed and pulled but hanging in. On serve. Second set. Just such a

:16:11. > :16:22.gritty competitor. On Court Two, Kerber serving for the match. Just a

:16:23. > :16:31.couple of match points, oh no! 5-1 up. Fourth seed. The highest rank in

:16:32. > :16:45.the bottom half of the draw. And in this one, Coco in trouble, that is

:16:46. > :16:57.on the red button. And if you are just coming in, this is the

:16:58. > :17:03.disappointing news, about Swan, been forced to retire, having the

:17:04. > :17:07.problem, with legs, getting the trainer on the court, it looks as

:17:08. > :17:14.though it could be shin splints, something like that. Just could not

:17:15. > :17:22.carry on, absolutely devastated that Wimbledon is over. But we are going

:17:23. > :18:06.to see more of her, huge talent, Katie Swan. Remember the name.

:18:07. > :18:15.Fantastic return of serve. Weight through the ball. Radwanska has

:18:16. > :18:23.lifted her game. About 25% more power. We are hoping the grey skies

:18:24. > :18:42.stay away. We have had of you! It is so did a good, the continually

:18:43. > :19:10.control the tempo. Cibulkova, that is the demand on her.

:19:11. > :19:25.Such control. Such conviction. Cibulkova, two feet inside the

:19:26. > :19:29.baseline. And Radwanska, just constantly being pushed five feet

:19:30. > :19:49.behind. Gives angles to Cibulkova. That is another reason, why

:19:50. > :19:55.Radwanska has been effective, on this surface, hits flat, skoots up,

:19:56. > :20:40.heavy top-spin. Court three. Not a million miles

:20:41. > :20:50.from Centre Court. Players' balcony. Grab a bite to eat. That is in the

:20:51. > :21:03.court, emerging, and Court One, the hill full to the rafters.

:21:04. > :21:16.Uncharacteristic errors from Radwanska. Definitely rattled a bit

:21:17. > :21:20.by Cibulkova today. Put over conflict zone -- oat of comfort

:21:21. > :21:47.zone. Not even the net on her side today.

:21:48. > :21:55.She had that unbelievably favourable net cord in the second round. Facing

:21:56. > :21:58.match point. But she needs all the help that she can get. And more

:21:59. > :22:33.energy, as well. Been with her since 2011. In the

:22:34. > :23:11.shades and the tshirt. Such a pivotal game right here.

:23:12. > :23:16.Hanging in the balance... If Cibulkova couldn't get the break, or

:23:17. > :23:44.Radwanska hold on. Wii has not had many challenges

:23:45. > :23:47.today so far. Such a key point. You can understand using Hawk Eye this

:23:48. > :24:35.time. Fabulous hitting. Fabulous resolve

:24:36. > :24:44.from Cibulkova. And the movement, from both, extraordinary. Cibulkova,

:24:45. > :25:16.taking the chance, leaving cross-court open.

:25:17. > :25:34.Now she has got to dig deep, into that resolve and experience. This is

:25:35. > :25:49.a huge moment. Break here, and she's firing her way to the quarter

:25:50. > :26:00.finals. Broken! Cibulkova, carrying on her fantastic form on grass. Just

:26:01. > :26:03.two games away from the quarterfinals. We're going to leave

:26:04. > :26:17.that much, it is going on to the red button. Before we go to Centre

:26:18. > :26:36.Court, Pavlyuchenk has gone through, on court 18. Through to face Serena

:26:37. > :26:46.Williams, or Kuznetsova. Going through against the 27th seed. And

:26:47. > :26:55.no problems for the Australian Open champion, Kerber, just 64 minutes,

:26:56. > :27:05.against Doi, troubling her, and she remains the highest ranked seed in

:27:06. > :27:13.the bottom half. She is going to the upper gets Halep, or Madison Keys,

:27:14. > :27:19.in the next round. We talked about, at the start of the programme, just

:27:20. > :27:27.how busy the date is going to be, and we're going to Centre Court,

:27:28. > :27:38.buzz around here. Magnificent order Rockley, Andy Murray against

:27:39. > :27:43.Kyrgios, Serena Williams, against Kuznetsova, but Roger Federer, one

:27:44. > :27:48.of the arguable all time greats, 17 titles. He has made Centre Court his

:27:49. > :28:11.home. I do not believe that. Unbelievable.

:28:12. > :28:25.What a point. Vintage Federer. Phenomenal. Championship number

:28:26. > :28:36.seven. Just what a player, really... But it is going to be tough, against

:28:37. > :28:39.Steve Johnson, of the dated states. Before we talk about Roger Federer,

:28:40. > :28:52.and Steve Johnson, we have got to talk about Andy Murray, and Kyrgios.

:28:53. > :29:00.Here's near the top of the food chain. Explosive, and unpredictable,

:29:01. > :29:07.forehand, big shot, and the backhand is flat. Andy Murray definitely the

:29:08. > :29:12.favourite, he has won the match as previously, but Kyrgios is

:29:13. > :29:20.dangerous, seemingly maturing, not too quickly... He does seem to be

:29:21. > :29:28.dangerous. Playing well? Yes. And he has got the track record, an grass,

:29:29. > :29:33.defeating Rafael Nadal. And some serious headphones! That is

:29:34. > :29:39.potentially trying to keep them focused, he could possibly need more

:29:40. > :29:42.than headphones, but he has got the firepower, saw accurate, and when

:29:43. > :29:49.you play somebody who just returns so well as Andy Murray, you have got

:29:50. > :29:56.to come to the big stage, but I think Andy Murray is going to come

:29:57. > :30:05.through. Nick was adamant. He beat him. But a set off him at the US

:30:06. > :30:11.Open. This is somebody who has number one potential. If he puts it

:30:12. > :30:16.all together, it is a chance for him to take a step forward. But I think

:30:17. > :30:19.Andy Murray is going to handle this. That is for later. This is Roger

:30:20. > :30:42.Federer and Steve Johnson. What a reception for both players.

:30:43. > :30:45.Roger Federer is a favourite or around the world. He has looked very

:30:46. > :30:50.good in the first three matches but he has not really been challenged,

:30:51. > :30:53.has he? He hasn't. When you look back at the nature of this

:30:54. > :30:57.tournament, when you have Sunday off, it is a tournament of two

:30:58. > :31:03.halves. You need to get through the first week, and then when you get to

:31:04. > :31:08.the second Monday, you start again. Federer was very fortunate in the

:31:09. > :31:13.top half of the draw, alongside Djokovic, the defending champion. He

:31:14. > :31:17.played Monday, Wednesday, Friday, so he has totally been unaffected by

:31:18. > :31:21.the rain delays and the disruption for players coming back on Sunday.

:31:22. > :31:26.He will be delighted with where he is at right now. He hasn't really

:31:27. > :31:29.been tested, as you say, and he will have to up his game in the second

:31:30. > :31:33.week if he is going to progress to the finals. That is imported,

:31:34. > :31:37.getting the schedule right. He has had a bad back for most of the

:31:38. > :31:44.season but he never talks about it so we don't know how bad but it will

:31:45. > :31:48.have helped. Certainly. He did not come in with his normal match play

:31:49. > :31:56.for the first half of the year. He was diminished in terms of match

:31:57. > :31:59.play but his game does not seem this diminished on this surface. His

:32:00. > :32:04.movement is confident and he will need it again Steve Johnson, who has

:32:05. > :32:10.a nice serve. Roger is in perfect shape as we start the second week.

:32:11. > :32:14.Johnson won in Nottingham and is coming in with a bunch of wins on

:32:15. > :32:19.this surface, which gives you confidence. It certainly does. He

:32:20. > :32:24.will have built on the first week. The matchup will be interesting. Jim

:32:25. > :32:29.is Davis Cup captain in America and knows his game well. From what I

:32:30. > :32:33.have seen, he likes to chip his backhand a lot and Federer is

:32:34. > :32:36.comfortable moving forward and to serve and volley, so it will be

:32:37. > :32:39.interesting to see if Federer can target that. If you are just

:32:40. > :32:43.chipping the return all the time, you have to be very accurate to keep

:32:44. > :32:48.the ball low otherwise there will be some easy put away volleys. Jim will

:32:49. > :32:50.tell us more about this man in a moment. Who is Steve Johnson? Jamie

:32:51. > :33:02.Baker has more. Job done! Steve Johnson is through

:33:03. > :33:05.to the fourth round of a Grand Slam for the very first time at Wimbledon

:33:06. > :33:10.but the question is what can he do on the grass courts to really affect

:33:11. > :33:14.the seven time champion? When players come up against the top

:33:15. > :33:19.three all four guys in the world, we see it so often, especially on

:33:20. > :33:24.grass, that it is so important that they stay with them in the sets.

:33:25. > :33:28.Really ask questions, especially of Federer on this occasion. How will

:33:29. > :33:33.Johnson do that? In terms of his service games, it is about two

:33:34. > :33:38.things. He has a big first serve, 130 mph in him easily, but can he

:33:39. > :33:51.get enough into court to dictate the points? Federer will make a lot of

:33:52. > :33:54.balls of those big first serves but the main weapon in Johnson's game is

:33:55. > :33:56.his forehand. It is so good because he can play it from anywhere on the

:33:57. > :33:59.court. Roger Federer has had a straightforward route through to the

:34:00. > :34:01.fourth round this year. On top of this, we have seen him play less

:34:02. > :34:05.matches coming into the tournament this year. A fewer injuries, which

:34:06. > :34:08.has not been the case in the past. On the other hand, Johnson won the

:34:09. > :34:12.warm up event in Nottingham, so he is feeling great on the grass. The

:34:13. > :34:21.serve and forehand are working so this could be the biggest test for

:34:22. > :34:25.Roger Federer so far. SUE BARKER: He beat the baby Federer in the last

:34:26. > :34:30.round and now he has the main man. It is the perfect warm up for him,

:34:31. > :34:36.playing somebody who plays so similarly to Roger Federer. Beauty

:34:37. > :34:41.at a decent level compared to Grigor Dimitrov. This player has no

:34:42. > :34:45.experience on Centre Court, playing Roger, but nothing to lose. It is

:34:46. > :34:50.all up sides for him, all experience for him. He knows he is the big

:34:51. > :34:54.underdog, but he has the chance to come out and show what he can do and

:34:55. > :34:58.he is looking forward to it. He said he had no fear and he was just going

:34:59. > :35:02.to take his chances and not think about who is at the other end of the

:35:03. > :35:06.court. That is an important point when you are coming onto Centre

:35:07. > :35:10.Court, which Roger has made his home over the last 12 or 15 years. You

:35:11. > :35:15.have got to make sure that you play the ball and not the man. As you

:35:16. > :35:19.say, with his game, the one question we have with Federer is how much

:35:20. > :35:23.matchplay he has got. He is almost trying to play himself into form

:35:24. > :35:26.during this tournament. Johnson has really played some good tennis and

:35:27. > :35:31.he feels comfortable on this surface. He had a heavy serve and a

:35:32. > :35:35.good forehand and he will go out there with the right attitude of

:35:36. > :35:39.nothing to lose. He has a lot to gain. And the 4th of July, he is on

:35:40. > :35:46.an Serena Williams is on and you never know! As far as countries are

:35:47. > :35:56.concerned, he is just about to go on court, Sam, that is his coach, so

:35:57. > :36:00.where will Craig be? I think Craig is probably here but he will be

:36:01. > :36:06.dashing back and forth. It is unusual to share coaches. Yes. Great

:36:07. > :36:11.has been with Steve for a couple of years and Sam just joined in the

:36:12. > :36:16.last couple of months. But I don't see Craig. This seat is available

:36:17. > :36:23.for him. The guy with the maroon shirt on the right is Peter Smith,

:36:24. > :36:27.Steve's college coach at the University of Southern California in

:36:28. > :36:31.Los Angeles. He is one of the most decorated college tennis players in

:36:32. > :36:38.history. That is du's valour to the left in the Black cat, who is a

:36:39. > :36:46.tennis coach. -- Steve's father in the black cap. And we took lessons

:36:47. > :36:50.on him when Steve was just toddling around the court, so that is good

:36:51. > :37:00.pedigree. When Sam Quek rebates Djokovic, the crowd went wild, and

:37:01. > :37:06.he lost his focus and lost the point. Stefan Edberg has worked with

:37:07. > :37:10.Roger for so many years and he is sitting beside Roger's mother. They

:37:11. > :37:15.are all in the box and they are ready to go, so we have to be ready

:37:16. > :37:17.to go. Tim and Jim, thank you. Play is about to get. They join Nick

:37:18. > :37:35.Mullins the commentary box. The roof is open. The sunshine is

:37:36. > :37:41.extraordinary. It is dry for the time being. This is the magician

:37:42. > :38:50.getting us under way at the start of the second week.

:38:51. > :38:54.I do believe that is the first time Roger Federer has served a double

:38:55. > :39:21.fault in these championships. He has been busy making Centre Court

:39:22. > :39:33.his home again this fortnight, after three wins in the first week. Not

:39:34. > :39:41.having any trouble so far. Written's Marcus Willis, then Dan Evans, who

:39:42. > :39:46.he saw off in straight sets. -- Britain's Marcus Willis. So what can

:39:47. > :39:49.Steve Johnson do? He has never hung around this long at a Grand Slam and

:39:50. > :40:09.here he is on Centre Court against Federer.

:40:10. > :40:19.Jim, from your point of view, Steve has been a member Jill Davis Cup

:40:20. > :40:22.team, if you are going to concoct game plans against Roger Federer,

:40:23. > :40:35.what would you say to him? Just a bit of background on Steve's

:40:36. > :40:44.game in general, he started off on taught using a two-handed backhand

:40:45. > :40:49.Brian Emily. -- primarily. His coach Craig got hold of him and they made

:40:50. > :40:54.a huge adjustment. He virtually only hit slice. So he is a very different

:40:55. > :41:02.player on tour. Slices are about 90% of his rally backhands. He missed so

:41:03. > :41:08.many with two hands. His forehand is great and so is his serve. He needs

:41:09. > :41:18.to get the serve plus one. First serves in play, first ball forehand,

:41:19. > :41:26.and then pray. That is what Roger wants to do as well but it is more

:41:27. > :41:32.important for Steve. It is all about his serve and forehand. Will he look

:41:33. > :41:37.to get forward much and finish the point at the net if he gets the

:41:38. > :41:41.chance? Yes. He will use the forehand to get into the net if he

:41:42. > :41:50.can. And I beg you to stop interrogating me! They were easy

:41:51. > :41:56.questions! It is someone who I haven't seen play a great deal, if I

:41:57. > :42:06.am honest. Johnson has had some very good wins, including Grigor Dimitrov

:42:07. > :42:09.in the last round. He certainly has grass court form and I am interested

:42:10. > :42:16.to see if he can have an impact against the seven time champion. He

:42:17. > :42:24.has never played better on grass than how he is playing right now. He

:42:25. > :43:29.beat Richard Gasquet at Queen's. It has been quite a turnaround for

:43:30. > :43:33.Steve Johnson in this grass court season. He lost in the first round

:43:34. > :43:41.of the first grass court event that you played this year to the 170th

:43:42. > :43:46.ranked player in the world. He happens to be one of our promising

:43:47. > :43:56.young Americans. It was devastating for him. He was gutted. When he came

:43:57. > :43:58.to Queen's and he got Richard Gasquet in the first round, that

:43:59. > :44:21.turned everything around for him. We will have a look at the

:44:22. > :44:25.statistics of Steve Johnson. SUE BARKER: We will be right back on

:44:26. > :44:31.Centre Court in a moment but there is so much happening on this busy

:44:32. > :44:36.Monday. Anna Radwanska, she was a break down in the second set, but

:44:37. > :44:44.she has just broken back. Cibulkova is serving for the match. That

:44:45. > :44:48.matches live on the red button. And here is Andy Murray and he will be

:44:49. > :44:53.live on BBC One later on Centre Court. He has raced through his

:44:54. > :44:57.opening week and he has looked so good but now it really does get

:44:58. > :45:01.tough. He has a very difficult opponent in Nick Kyrgios. An

:45:02. > :45:08.important day. And Nick is on the practice courts as well looking very

:45:09. > :45:12.good against Feliciano Lopez. He has such magical hands, a big serve and

:45:13. > :45:16.a big forehand, certainly the weapons to worry Andy Murray. But

:45:17. > :45:22.does he have the experience and the big occasion experience as well? We

:45:23. > :46:08.will find that out later on BBC One, the third match on Centre Court.

:46:09. > :46:15.A tough start to 2016 for Steve Johnson. Six wins against 14 losses

:46:16. > :46:40.before he got in form at Queen's. The only success he had this year

:46:41. > :46:48.was on the doubles court with Sam Querrey, winning a title. They call

:46:49. > :47:24.them Quonson, by the way! That victory and not in Nottingham

:47:25. > :47:30.was his first ever singles title. -- that victory in Nottingham. He is

:47:31. > :47:36.enjoying 2016, including doing things he has never done previously.

:47:37. > :48:35.Craig, his coach, bottom right. The seven time former champion going

:48:36. > :48:38.for a record-breaking eighth. One thing is for sure, whatever happens

:48:39. > :48:40.to Roger Federer between now and next Sunday, he will not be beaten

:48:41. > :49:28.by Novak Djokovic. A sniff from Steve Johnson on

:49:29. > :49:29.Federer's serve. Catching Federer off guard with a two-handed

:49:30. > :49:45.aggressive return. Change of pace. Not the fastest serve, but pinpoint

:49:46. > :50:48.accurate. Interesting tactic from Federer.

:50:49. > :50:51.When he knows his opponent is going to be chipping the backhand return,

:50:52. > :51:03.to go to the forehand on the first serve.

:51:04. > :51:09.Steve is not afraid to chip the forehand return. He has done it 50%

:51:10. > :51:15.of the time en route to this match but he keeps you honest because the

:51:16. > :51:35.top-spin is not as predictable as the backhand.

:51:36. > :51:44.He is certainly getting some good acceleration on the slice backhand.

:51:45. > :51:56.Quite a long swing. But it is effective.

:51:57. > :52:01.Federer dropping shots like that is like Picasso dropping his

:52:02. > :52:22.paintbrush. We have to look twice and see if it happened.

:52:23. > :52:34.Four serves on break point that Federer has gone to the forehand.

:52:35. > :52:38.The one advantage of going for the forehand side is it opens up the

:52:39. > :53:09.backhand for the next shot. SUE BARKER: Dangerous game for Roger

:53:10. > :53:17.Federer but he holds. We had off now to Agnieszka Radwanska, who is

:53:18. > :53:22.playing Cibulkova. She is leading 5-4. It was a 3-set match when they

:53:23. > :53:26.met at Eastbourne last week, which Cibulkova won. She will have to go

:53:27. > :53:30.to three sets to win this one because Agnieszka Radwanska is back

:53:31. > :53:39.in this match having taken the match 7-5. That is on the red button. And

:53:40. > :53:45.not so good for Kei Nishikori, he is down against Marin Cilic. He has

:53:46. > :53:53.called for his trainer and we wonder if it is the rib injury that caused

:53:54. > :54:00.him to pull out of matches recently. He pulled out last year of Wimbledon

:54:01. > :54:04.because of an injury. Not going well for Kei Nishikori and I wonder if he

:54:05. > :54:06.will continue in this match. We'll keep you up with that. . Back to

:54:07. > :54:18.Centre Court. Johnson is doing OK, as high as he

:54:19. > :54:22.ever has been in the rankings, 29th. This is the biggest stage of his

:54:23. > :55:10.career so far, Centre Court. Against Roger Federer.

:55:11. > :55:17.It is a quizzical look on Federer's face. He is trying to work out what

:55:18. > :55:25.he is dealing with. Johnson's style is unusual. You have to shift gears

:55:26. > :55:29.when you play Steve Johnson because when you hit it to his backhand, it

:55:30. > :55:34.is so different than what comes off the forehand. When you hit it off

:55:35. > :55:41.his forehand, you are on your heels. I have been on the other side of

:55:42. > :55:47.that forehand, and it is a monster, but it is a little different of his

:55:48. > :55:48.backhand. I think Roger will work it out eventually but it may take him

:55:49. > :56:02.some time. Only serving at 47% first serves. He

:56:03. > :57:13.needs a big one here. You have to check that he is running

:57:14. > :57:15.on his feet like normal people because when he moves like that he

:57:16. > :57:39.looks like he is on rollers. The first significant blow delivered

:57:40. > :57:42.by the Swiss. There is quite often a significant breeze on Centre Court

:57:43. > :57:46.coming from one way or the other and Federer has the breeze behind him.

:57:47. > :57:57.Serving uphill into the wind, you have got to make first serves. In

:57:58. > :58:18.the last service game, Johnson didn't do that.

:58:19. > :58:28.What a shot! A bullet from Stevie J down the line. His racket is so

:58:29. > :58:34.loosely strung it doesn't take much for him to generate power. Cold

:58:35. > :59:15.winner. 0-30 all of a sudden. Just explain to the uninitiated. The

:59:16. > :59:20.looser the strings, the more the ball comes off, like a trampoline.

:59:21. > :59:23.More power. You can be more aggressive and generate pace, but

:59:24. > :59:24.when you are struggling with confidence you feel like you don't

:59:25. > :59:37.have the control. You will probably vary your spin

:59:38. > :59:40.tension depending on the ball. At Wimbledon, the ball is quite heavy

:59:41. > :59:42.and he will be stringing a bit looser to give yourself more help

:59:43. > :00:19.with the racket. Tim talked about the wind at

:00:20. > :00:21.Federer's back. That can make its challenging for Federer to play

:00:22. > :00:27.aggressively when Johnson is keeping the ball solo. He had to be careful

:00:28. > :00:43.that the wind doesn't blow the ball long on his ground strokes.

:00:44. > :00:55.What have you got, Jim? What have I got? I have a little Federer

:00:56. > :01:02.Hawk-Eye. He has been pretty predictable with his first serve, he

:01:03. > :01:06.has hit four down the tee in the ad court but he has been primarily

:01:07. > :01:15.targeting the forehand wing in the deuce side. Trying to open up the

:01:16. > :01:20.court. I'm surprised he's going so often in the tee in the ad court. I

:01:21. > :01:24.would have thought he might try to serve a bit more out wide and

:01:25. > :01:28.perhaps serve and volley a bit on the backhand wing knowing it is a

:01:29. > :01:34.bit more difficult for Steve to hurt him. Certainly when you know your

:01:35. > :01:39.opponent, and for me being a serve and volley back in the day, when you

:01:40. > :01:43.knew your opponent was going to chip the return, if you get in nice and

:01:44. > :01:47.tight you know you will have the opportunity to be aggressive on the

:01:48. > :01:53.first volley. Interesting to follow that for the rest of the match,

:01:54. > :01:58.whether Federer starts varying his serving tactic, going to the

:01:59. > :02:01.backhand a little more. That is a good service placement. Six or seven

:02:02. > :02:14.feet above your head would be perfect!

:02:15. > :03:22.Everybody thinks that logo on the cap is for Roger but it is actually

:03:23. > :03:40.for Robert! 12 T-shirts around said the court

:03:41. > :03:47.that actually says Robert on them. -- one or two.

:03:48. > :03:56.That is unstoppable. Johnson gets what he wants, a first ball forehand

:03:57. > :04:01.on the return of serve but Federer is so quickly around, look at the

:04:02. > :04:12.footwork, he leaps into it, poetry in motion.

:04:13. > :04:46.UMPIRE: Mr Johnson is challenging the call. The ball was called out.

:04:47. > :04:51.Steve Johnson is hoping for some help otherwise that first set has

:04:52. > :05:10.just gone. That first set has just gone.

:05:11. > :05:19.You have to of my Steve Johnson. He is the type of player, you get the

:05:20. > :05:24.impression looking from a distance, he makes the absolute most of what

:05:25. > :05:32.he has. He is not blessed with the supra talk talents of eight Roger

:05:33. > :05:38.Federer put hear the pips squeak. -- supernatural talents. He was a

:05:39. > :05:43.practice partner in 2011 on the US Davis Cup team. We were in Texas

:05:44. > :05:51.playing Spain, we had a celebration at Andy Roddick's house because it

:05:52. > :05:57.was the 4th of July. We decided to do a tradition, a hot dog eating

:05:58. > :06:01.contest with our practice partners and communications director! The

:06:02. > :06:06.contest was set, who could eat five hotdogs with buns the fastest. There

:06:07. > :06:10.was a bit of a wager going on and we all thought the communications

:06:11. > :06:15.director had a bit more room in his belly, let's say, than the players!

:06:16. > :06:20.Steve thoroughly thrashed the field and it was clear to me he would be a

:06:21. > :06:26.very successful professional at that point because he was still in

:06:27. > :06:33.college! When you can dominate with someone with as much experience as

:06:34. > :06:39.Tim Curry, our communications director, has, at eating hot legs,

:06:40. > :06:45.you'd know you are onto something. -- hotdogs. I always knew that Jim

:06:46. > :06:52.had the ability to spot potential and that just confirms it.

:06:53. > :07:01.You just have to ask the right questions, Tim. How else do top

:07:02. > :07:11.athlete judge themselves these days? Hotdogs.

:07:12. > :07:14.That jacket was something else, we might need to have another look at

:07:15. > :07:40.that. I'm also interested to see the

:07:41. > :07:48.improvement Johnson has made with his end of year ranking. He asked

:07:49. > :07:54.just gone up and up since he got a ranking in 2007. APPLAUSE

:07:55. > :08:03.Nicely played. 29 in the world now, do you think he

:08:04. > :08:28.could be top 20? Yes, I do. It's great to see Federer up and

:08:29. > :08:31.running again at a Grand Slam, no sign of the back twinge that kept

:08:32. > :08:38.him away from Roland Garros or the knee injury that brought an abrupt

:08:39. > :08:44.end to Melbourne. That is that jacket, it really is something else.

:08:45. > :08:48.A ridiculous injury after he lost to Djokovic, I'm sure a lot of you know

:08:49. > :08:52.about it but he heard a click in his knee when he was running the bath

:08:53. > :08:54.for his daughters and it kept him out for a couple of months. But he

:08:55. > :09:49.is looking sharp. It has been eight difficult year for

:09:50. > :09:53.Roger Federer as a result of that. His initial plan because of the

:09:54. > :10:02.Olympics... Who is that? Ian Poulter. You remember him from the

:10:03. > :10:08.Ryder Cup? Dominating the Americans? He lives in my neighbourhood in

:10:09. > :10:12.Orlando. Anyway, Federer was going to take two months off after Indian

:10:13. > :10:17.Wells and not play any warm up tournament on Clegg and just go from

:10:18. > :10:25.Roland Garros to the US Open with the Olympics in between but he had

:10:26. > :10:27.to change that -- on clay. With the injury, he added some tournaments to

:10:28. > :10:46.get some matches he had missed. And from Johnson's point of view, he

:10:47. > :10:51.has not made the best start but Federer has played very well. Is it

:10:52. > :11:01.time to look at plan B or is it more about doing plan a bit better? I

:11:02. > :11:06.think it is executing a bit more. At 2-2, he was the one who had chances

:11:07. > :11:08.in the first set, he had three break points and Roger saved them all and

:11:09. > :11:31.he has not lost a game since. -- plan a is what he brings to the

:11:32. > :11:33.table. He could serve and volley some. He has not done much of that

:11:34. > :11:40.yet. What would you suggest? Put your

:11:41. > :12:02.coaching hat on. I like his game style and the

:12:03. > :12:06.weapons he has. He has too tried to get more first serves in and look to

:12:07. > :12:10.dictate with his forehand but I would like to see him finishing a

:12:11. > :12:16.few more points at the net and being a bit more proactive. He was looking

:12:17. > :12:20.to serve and volley there. The more time you give Federer at the

:12:21. > :12:22.opportunity to use the skills he has got, the more running you are going

:12:23. > :12:40.to do. APPLAUSE

:12:41. > :12:47.He is just one of those players, he has opponents rifling through plan

:12:48. > :12:57.B, C, B, D. And he has more options than the other man by and large.

:12:58. > :13:05.That was Peter Smith they just showed, who is the men's tennis

:13:06. > :13:09.coach at the college Steve Johnson played so successfully at, USC out

:13:10. > :13:32.in Los Angeles. Right now, nothing is coming easy

:13:33. > :13:37.for Steve Johnson, that was another scrap to hold onto a service game.

:13:38. > :13:43.And the first game he has won in a while so it must feel good.

:13:44. > :13:51.Peter Smith his college coach just flew in for this occasion.

:13:52. > :14:00.Is that standard procedure? He doesn't worry about the early

:14:01. > :14:04.rounds, flies in for Centre Court? Pretty much, it is a bit like what

:14:05. > :14:07.the Federer family used to do in Australia, they would go to New

:14:08. > :14:12.Zealand for the first week of the tournament and then rock up for

:14:13. > :14:13.second week! A nice little holiday while everybody else is grinding it

:14:14. > :14:26.out. But Craig Boynton is definitely

:14:27. > :14:34.watching Sam Querrey play right now because he is not here. He is

:14:35. > :14:42.missing some sweetness from Roger Federer! Stefan Edberg just lent

:14:43. > :15:43.across and said, I taught him that! One of the shots we will remember

:15:44. > :15:56.for a long time from that man. Let's look at where Roger has been

:15:57. > :16:01.hitting his return to how aggressive he has been. Look how far inside he

:16:02. > :16:06.is, the blue dot indicate a second serve. It looks to be about four

:16:07. > :16:10.feet inside the line and you can see how aggressive he has been on them.

:16:11. > :16:15.The first serves he has taken a bit more time because it is coming with

:16:16. > :16:19.a bit more pace from Steve Johnson but particularly looking at the top

:16:20. > :16:23.left-hand corner, those two blue dots, how far he is going inside to

:16:24. > :16:28.get them, and that is because Johnson kicks the second serve so

:16:29. > :16:29.much so he has to get it early otherwise it will be up over his

:16:30. > :16:46.shoulder and unplayable. Going back to that beautiful

:16:47. > :16:50.backhand volley that just sashayed across the net, if you are ever

:16:51. > :16:57.lucky enough to watch Roger Federer practice, it is the kind of shot he

:16:58. > :17:01.does all the time in practice, he just gives the impression he just

:17:02. > :17:05.loves the game, the sport, seeing what his body can do and what he can

:17:06. > :17:11.do with his racket and it is moment like that, you hear him chuckling on

:17:12. > :17:22.the practice courts like that with little shots like that.

:17:23. > :17:30.The money is a bonus when you have the talent Roger Federer has but he

:17:31. > :17:34.just luxuriates in that God-given ability. He does and he has worked

:17:35. > :17:38.incredibly hard and we see his attacking attributes but in eight

:17:39. > :17:47.point like that we also see how good he is at defending. -- in a point.

:17:48. > :17:49.He picked the right way to hit the backhand down the line and get the

:17:50. > :18:15.opportunity to move forward. As soon as Federer has neutralised

:18:16. > :18:20.the point with the return of serve, they are both on the baseline and

:18:21. > :18:21.when he gets the opportunity to move forward, he will target that

:18:22. > :18:49.backhand time and time again. APPLAUSE

:18:50. > :18:53.The thing with having such a big forehand is that you can back it up

:18:54. > :18:59.and up because they had to respect your power but if you can also have

:19:00. > :19:01.finesse, that is a great option that he needs to deploy. Federer can

:19:02. > :19:20.defend but he can't be everywhere. It's funny, Federer hated the drop

:19:21. > :19:24.shot but he finally conceded and started to use it the year he won at

:19:25. > :19:29.Roland Garros and it helped him quite a bit but he just didn't want

:19:30. > :20:29.to play it himself, he had an allergy to it!

:20:30. > :20:33.The first major signpost in this second set as Michael McIntyre

:20:34. > :21:06.watches on. Federer almost invited Johnson to

:21:07. > :21:11.come forward on that break point, he played the short return. Johnson hit

:21:12. > :21:14.a good approach to be fair but Federer went straight back at him

:21:15. > :21:19.with the fast forehand and he couldn't handle the volley. Both

:21:20. > :21:23.breaks of serve have come of that same play, Federer going right

:21:24. > :21:25.through the middle of the court with Johnson at the net, Johnson trying

:21:26. > :21:33.the drop volley and missing it. And in terms of front runners, there

:21:34. > :21:57.are not many better than Federer. Just deciding whether to engage

:21:58. > :22:12.seventh gear! Steve Johnson might be thinking, you

:22:13. > :22:37.are finding sixth right now, Roger! Enjoyed his 18th Wimbledon. His

:22:38. > :22:42.debut was back in 1999, I wonder who remembers his first round defeat to

:22:43. > :22:57.Jiri Novak. We should not bypass 2001! I think

:22:58. > :23:10.he played his first match on Centre Court. Against? He beat Pete

:23:11. > :23:16.Sampras. Just checking. And how many more will we see? That is one of the

:23:17. > :23:21.parlour games these days. How many more times will he grace this court

:23:22. > :23:26.and this championship? Long ago he said that this year was a year he

:23:27. > :23:31.was targeting to try to get to his fifth Olympics and to play in Rio.

:23:32. > :23:35.He is playing at such a high level now, it does not seem like there is

:23:36. > :24:46.any call for him to stop or slow down.

:24:47. > :25:26.Federer largely in cruise control but Steve Johnson still swinging

:25:27. > :26:50.away. Let's see what he can connect with. Federer with the break at 4-2.

:26:51. > :26:59.SUE BARKER: So it is all going Roger Federer's waits at the moment. We

:27:00. > :27:04.are going to leave this match on BBC Two but if you want to continue

:27:05. > :27:16.watching it is on BBC One right now -- Roger Federer's way. Dominika

:27:17. > :27:20.Cibulkova was up break up but Radwanska has broken back but as you

:27:21. > :27:25.can see, she is in trouble on serve again at 0-30 serve a tight match on

:27:26. > :27:31.court number three which you can watch on the red button. Kei

:27:32. > :27:35.Nishikori on Court Number Two has decided he had had enough. What a

:27:36. > :27:40.sad end to his Wimbledon challenge, he was forced to pull out last year

:27:41. > :27:44.because of a calf injury but we think it is a recurrence of his rib

:27:45. > :27:52.injury that forced him to pull out of the match in Halle. His team told

:27:53. > :27:56.him he could not go on committee only won seven points in the first

:27:57. > :28:01.set and he could risk further injury so a wise move to pull out because

:28:02. > :28:05.he did not look like coming back to win the match so Marin Cilic will go

:28:06. > :28:11.through to the quarter final once again but a sad end to the challenge

:28:12. > :28:16.of Nishikori. We are heading out to Court Number One to see Madison Keys

:28:17. > :28:21.who has come back and taken the first set on the tie-break and has

:28:22. > :28:24.break point here against Simona Halep, the number five seed so we

:28:25. > :28:32.can join Jo Durie and Chris Bradnam for this one.

:28:33. > :28:38.Buttler and Madison Keys builds on the momentum.

:28:39. > :28:50.CHRIS BRADNAM: It was very comfortable until Ball, Halep broke

:28:51. > :28:56.and served for the first set and had set point but it is not looking good

:28:57. > :29:02.right now. JO DURIE: And it has affected her, she had four set

:29:03. > :29:06.points and lost them through a double fault and missed

:29:07. > :29:16.opportunities so Halep might still be pondering that.

:29:17. > :29:23.And I think Keys has been pretty restrained. She has hit some big

:29:24. > :29:25.shots but has often observed that big kick out wide on this side of

:29:26. > :29:36.the court. -- kicker. She has had real problems

:29:37. > :29:43.when she had moved up to the net, getting the point won. She really

:29:44. > :29:46.has, quite a few opportunities to volley and she has pushed a few of

:29:47. > :29:54.them. Challenged that instantly. Very few challenges in the match.

:29:55. > :30:10.That one caught the line. She is not happy. I don't think it

:30:11. > :30:30.is worth arguing, she won't get anywhere. First serve again.

:30:31. > :30:37.Again. That must be what we have seen already in the opening set. She

:30:38. > :30:42.has really missed some howlers and then others she has pushed and let

:30:43. > :30:44.Halep back in. A horrible height. Not a smash, and not easy to hit

:30:45. > :31:22.that. I have to say, I feel very nervous

:31:23. > :31:29.every time Keys goes to the net. I am not sure what she is going to do.

:31:30. > :31:32.She has won half, seven from 14, but Halep has not won at the net yet,

:31:33. > :32:13.and she has a similar problem. Well, there you go! Much calmer. Got

:32:14. > :32:22.the right action on the volley, came across it.

:32:23. > :32:40.UMPIRE: Game, Mace Miss Keys. An impressive scoreboard on

:32:41. > :32:43.Independence Day for the American number three. Three still left in

:32:44. > :32:51.the draw, with the Williams sisters of course. Keys's coach looked like

:32:52. > :32:55.he was trying to get her going. I don't think she has jogged around

:32:56. > :32:56.and looked energetic enough on the return of serve. I think she could

:32:57. > :33:19.be more threatening. Great length, or is it? I thought

:33:20. > :33:27.that was in. It looked inside the line.

:33:28. > :33:55.16 winners, 23 unforced for Keys. Always interesting to watch. Such a

:33:56. > :34:14.powerful player. She chose the hardest shot. That

:34:15. > :34:37.bounced so low and it is a very high part of the net.

:34:38. > :34:47.UMPIRE: Game, Miss Halep. New balls, please.

:34:48. > :34:57.Second love hold for Halep, and that was an important one at the end of

:34:58. > :35:01.the last set. She is back on track. Not a particularly great game by

:35:02. > :35:07.Miss. Maybe she has pulled Halep back into this. We have been

:35:08. > :35:12.watching a lot of Halep this year and it is up and down emotionally

:35:13. > :35:17.with her sometimes. She had her coat come on court in the WTA event, when

:35:18. > :35:23.your code is allowed to come on. He is very calm and talks through the

:35:24. > :35:31.process of playing. I think she gets too down on herself at times. All

:35:32. > :35:35.the players in the women's game, we talk about the consistency of

:35:36. > :35:39.staying up there. She made the final of the French and the WTA finals and

:35:40. > :35:52.we thought she would be the next big Challenger to Serena Williams.

:35:53. > :36:29.Fabianski net a retired. -- Pennetta retired.

:36:30. > :36:36.Oh, dear. I never thought I would see Madison Keys play a moon ball on

:36:37. > :36:44.a grass court. Funny how she tucks her skirt in

:36:45. > :37:26.like that. It is just what she does. It is the first kicker she has

:37:27. > :37:32.missed. Second double fault. She has hit that kicker served so well

:37:33. > :37:44.today. I am amazed how high it bounces.

:37:45. > :37:57.Chance to get the break back. Keys has just gone off the boil a bit.

:37:58. > :38:32.Quite big reactions from Keys throughout the whole of this match.

:38:33. > :38:42.She is feeling it at times. Another break point. It is the one we have

:38:43. > :38:48.seen, and to use it on the first serve, as well. So nice to have a

:38:49. > :39:05.server like that and she can change it, she has the skill to do it.

:39:06. > :39:09.It is as though she is trying to hand this game to Halep at the

:39:10. > :39:18.moment. Good switch. Is that a royal wave?

:39:19. > :39:57.Must have seen you in the box! There have been so many let calls in

:39:58. > :39:58.this match so far. It's just holds the ball up enough to interrupt your

:39:59. > :40:30.rhythm. Keys really let Halep off the hook.

:40:31. > :40:32.A pretty dreadful game. The last shot in particular. She got it all

:40:33. > :40:46.wrong and she knows it. Halep has weathered a bit of a

:40:47. > :41:16.storm. Back to 2-2. To good. 82 mph, right in the hit

:41:17. > :41:35.zone, that serve, and boy, did it get it?

:41:36. > :41:40.Just enough pace off the court. Halep likes the down the line

:41:41. > :41:57.backhand. Amazing service speed, 87 mph, just

:41:58. > :42:30.making sure she gets it in. Really racking up the unforced

:42:31. > :42:32.errors. Up to 31. Halep up to eight. Always going to be interesting

:42:33. > :42:56.watching this, the winners as well. Halep challenging the call. The ball

:42:57. > :42:58.was called out. I don't think so. She gave it an anxious look as soon

:42:59. > :43:29.as she hit it. Well directed from Halep. She takes

:43:30. > :43:44.the pace off the ball and she adds spin and she is very accurate.

:43:45. > :43:58.Wonderful. Trusting herself still. She hits big off both sides, Keys,

:43:59. > :44:22.and it is hard to spot which direction it is going in.

:44:23. > :44:47.Another break point. Three from four converted.

:44:48. > :44:54.Yes, that is the one she has been searching for. Just makes Keys run

:44:55. > :45:34.more. She can be very hard on herself,

:45:35. > :45:42.Keys. She has had quite a few coaches in the last year or two. The

:45:43. > :46:06.latest has added more spin, more margin.

:46:07. > :46:26.An interesting stage in the match for Madison Keys. Does she continue

:46:27. > :46:33.to grow as big as she has been at the moment? She is losing that

:46:34. > :46:38.battle. Does she continue to trade more? It is not in her psyche. I

:46:39. > :46:44.actually think she is not going big enough. I think she is being a bit

:46:45. > :46:47.content. When you get tight across the shoulders, you cannot swing as

:46:48. > :46:52.you would like to across the ball. I think she is trying to get the ball

:46:53. > :46:57.in. There is more top-spin on it. She is on a grass court and she has

:46:58. > :47:01.got a big game. She is going to miss some, yes, but where is the threat

:47:02. > :47:05.to Halep at the moment? She is missing them but she isn't hitting

:47:06. > :47:11.them that hard at the moment. Interesting. This matchup is very

:47:12. > :47:16.interesting. Halep is so good defensively and moves brilliantly

:47:17. > :47:24.and she gets a lot of awkward balls back for Keys to deal with. They

:47:25. > :47:28.split their two previous matches a couple of years ago, Sydney and

:47:29. > :47:32.Rome, hard court and clay-court obviously, and this is the first on

:47:33. > :47:36.grass. Madison Keys won in Birmingham and she pulled out of

:47:37. > :47:39.Eastbourne to rest the right shoulder. Halep withdrew from

:47:40. > :47:43.Birmingham because of Achilles problems at the first part of the

:47:44. > :47:51.year. First grass court tournament for her. She has got through to the

:47:52. > :48:16.fourth round very comfortably, Halep. Her first real big test.

:48:17. > :48:30.Wow. Great athlete. That was unexpected but she used the pace. I

:48:31. > :49:00.love Keys's reaction. She applauds her opponent, which is nice to see.

:49:01. > :49:15.Scotty Burns on the left, the trainer for Keys.

:49:16. > :49:29.Well done in the end. She is moving better. Definitely. Keys has

:49:30. > :49:57.improved her movement. That will feel good, putting a volley away.

:49:58. > :50:10.UMPIRE: Game, Miss Keys. An important hold for Keys. I wonder if

:50:11. > :50:13.the tactic at the beginning of the match was for Keys to plug in a bit

:50:14. > :50:20.more and then she missed so many volleys that she got frightened of

:50:21. > :50:26.doing it? But now she is doing it so much better.

:50:27. > :50:58.Huge. Yes, that is the one that Keys pounces on and suddenly it is it so

:50:59. > :51:18.much harder. -- hit harder. Getting the consistency back. Going

:51:19. > :51:38.for it much more as well. She has listened to you!

:51:39. > :51:54.APPLAUSE Look at their faces. You can just

:51:55. > :52:02.hear the difference. The sound of the ball off the racket. Tremendous,

:52:03. > :52:26.great timing. That is a full swing. Three more break points.

:52:27. > :52:30.It is lovely movement first of all from Halep and nice soft hands on

:52:31. > :53:16.the racket to get that angle. SUE BARKER: The fightback from

:53:17. > :53:20.Halep. We are going to leave this match because we are going to

:53:21. > :53:25.another thrilling fourth round match at the moment. You can follow it on

:53:26. > :53:31.the red button. On Centre Court, Roger Federer is in action, two sets

:53:32. > :53:37.to love. Steve Johnson has just broken back. That match is going

:53:38. > :53:40.well on BBC One. We are heading out to court number three, a real

:53:41. > :53:46.roller-coaster of a match. Six games all in the third and final set

:53:47. > :53:49.between two of the toughest competitors on the tour. Agnieszka

:53:50. > :53:54.Radwanska and Cibulkova. Tracy Austin and James Burridge are

:53:55. > :54:09.commentating. We are being spoiled rotten on court

:54:10. > :54:19.three. Both pairs have had a match point each. Friends and family can't

:54:20. > :54:20.bear to watch. The hitting of these two players is of the highest

:54:21. > :54:44.quality. My goodness me. How can you possibly

:54:45. > :54:51.hit a drop shot like that going backwards at this stage of the

:54:52. > :54:56.match? And from behind the baseline. They don't teach you to do the drop

:54:57. > :55:20.shot like this. That took nerves of steel. Incredible.

:55:21. > :55:40.What has been so fantastic about this match in the late stages is

:55:41. > :55:41.that these points have been won and not lost. The quality has been

:55:42. > :56:09.exceptional. She had five break points in the

:56:10. > :56:14.last service game, Agnieszka Radwanska, and she couldn't close

:56:15. > :56:24.the deal. Now she has one. Not brave enough to sneak back into his seat!

:56:25. > :56:36.Oh, yes! This time she only needed one. UMPIRE: Game, Miss Cibulkova.

:56:37. > :56:46.Come and join us. She needs your support!

:56:47. > :56:55.Agnieszka Radwanska has been here before. In the second round she

:56:56. > :57:00.saved three match points and got away with a net call on the third

:57:01. > :57:05.and then her opponent had that dreadful ankle twist, but she has

:57:06. > :57:11.prevailed, not just this year but on so many occasions. Agnieszka

:57:12. > :57:16.Radwanska somehow finds a way with a variety of changes of spin and

:57:17. > :57:21.paste. Tracking that extra ball down. Tremendous defence. Never

:57:22. > :57:27.seems to panic, terrific demeanour. By contrast, on the other side,

:57:28. > :57:33.Cibulkova, she has got the fire in her belly. She plays with such

:57:34. > :57:41.urgency. Terrific footwork. She rarely takes anything off any shot.

:57:42. > :57:57.All out aggression. Over an hour ago she broke and was serving for the

:57:58. > :57:58.match at 5-4. She had a match point. Agnieszka Radwanska came back in the

:57:59. > :58:02.second set. Here she is again, serving for the

:58:03. > :59:23.match. Still hiding, still praying. They

:59:24. > :59:35.are supposed to get married on the weekend. Out! Miss Cibulkova is

:59:36. > :59:50.challenging the call. The ball was called out.

:59:51. > :59:54.30-0 back to 30-30. This is when she needs to summon all that resolve and

:59:55. > :00:38.strength. What are shot! And what a time. We

:00:39. > :00:46.could be here all day! Tomasz Wiktorowski has seen that time and

:00:47. > :00:48.time again. The magician, the Ninja, so many nicknames for this young

:00:49. > :01:28.lady. She's done it again! Down but not

:01:29. > :01:31.out yet. Just improvises so well, whatever she needs to do to get that

:01:32. > :01:54.ball back, the flexibility. She just got so low, even Radwanska

:01:55. > :02:44.could not scoop that one back. She didn't really need to go for

:02:45. > :02:48.that shot then. I just wonder if fatigue is setting in for both

:02:49. > :02:54.players. They have both been pushed and these are all out sprints for

:02:55. > :02:57.two hours and 49 minutes. Cibulkova not bouncing around quite as much as

:02:58. > :03:10.she was. It was incessant jumping. What a time for a double. Her second

:03:11. > :03:26.of the match. The forearms tightening. The mind

:03:27. > :03:46.going crazy. What is it like for the coaches watching?

:03:47. > :03:55.Yes! APPLAUSE The perfect point from the

:03:56. > :04:03.Cibulkova, always looking for the forehand. Dictating with the inside

:04:04. > :04:11.out and terrific footwork for the winner, inside in. Another break

:04:12. > :04:18.point. She has had so many over this match. Agnieszka Radwanska once

:04:19. > :04:24.again, that first serve. The variety in this game, look at

:04:25. > :04:45.that for break point saved, 15! 21 altogether she has faced. And you

:04:46. > :04:52.can add one more to the list. Again, the return of serve was rifled right

:04:53. > :04:53.back down at her feet. It looks as if she is gasping for air,

:04:54. > :05:29.Cibulkova. She is getting there. What fabulous,

:05:30. > :05:36.fabulous fight from these two players. How much have they got left

:05:37. > :05:50.in the tank? Cibulkova breaks 8-7, she leads.

:05:51. > :05:57.SUE BARKER: We will be right back in this match in just a moment to see

:05:58. > :06:01.her serve for it but let's take you back to Court Number One and the

:06:02. > :06:05.match you were watching earlier to tell you that Simona Halep has

:06:06. > :06:11.broken to take that second set so it is now 1-1 and if you want to watch

:06:12. > :06:16.that, it is on the red button. Roger Federer is on Centre Court which is

:06:17. > :06:18.the match on BBC One. Here on BBC Two, we are heading back to court

:06:19. > :06:29.number three. JAMES BURRIDGE: This is a fantastic

:06:30. > :06:34.advertisement for women's tennis, one of the matches of the

:06:35. > :06:39.Championships. Every point here is being won, not lost by an unforced

:06:40. > :06:46.error or a mistake. They are taking the match to each other. We are

:06:47. > :06:52.almost approaching three hours here on court number three. Dominika

:06:53. > :06:56.Cibulkova serving for the match for the third time.

:06:57. > :07:22.Neither player is able to just serve their opponent off the court. Like

:07:23. > :07:30.Serena Williams did the other day in that last game when she came up with

:07:31. > :07:33.three aces in the final game against Christina McHale. Both of these

:07:34. > :08:09.players had to work for every point and outmanoeuvre their opponent.

:08:10. > :08:17.That is phenomenal! CHEERING AND APPLAUSE

:08:18. > :08:25.Lie down! Who can blame her? Every inch of physical and mental power

:08:26. > :09:09.won at that point. And you can excuse that kind of

:09:10. > :09:56.error. Who can last at this level of attrition?

:09:57. > :10:12.-- what a shot. Agnieszka Radwanska is weathering the storm. But I think

:10:13. > :10:21.she is having to deal with a hurricane here. 21 shots. Where are

:10:22. > :10:28.they finding these physical reserves?

:10:29. > :10:39.Time violation. She has had this problem throughout the match. I just

:10:40. > :10:46.had a bad toss. That is the third time this has happened.

:10:47. > :11:00.I think that is a very tough call. You have around 20 seconds between

:11:01. > :11:07.each point. And repeatedly we are seeing the ball toss going wrong on

:11:08. > :11:11.the first serve. The umpire has called her up on it, twice, that is

:11:12. > :11:32.the third time. Second serve. Mr Radwanska is challenging the

:11:33. > :11:40.call. The ball was called out -- Miss Radwanska. Apparently that

:11:41. > :12:02.wasn't much longer than 20 seconds. Another match point goes begging.

:12:03. > :13:22.She has to challenge this. And once again, the forehand to the

:13:23. > :13:30.rescue. Can she summoned enough for one more point? -- summon. She had

:13:31. > :13:49.dictated the tempo, the energy, the atmosphere.

:13:50. > :13:57.Third time lucky! The pocket rocket is through to the Wimbledon

:13:58. > :14:14.quarterfinals! . -- a sensational match. Standing

:14:15. > :14:20.ovation and in matters like this it is just a shame there is a winner

:14:21. > :14:23.and a loser. Dominika Cibulkova can believe it but take nothing away

:14:24. > :14:31.from the performance of the number three seed, Agnieszka Radwanska. She

:14:32. > :14:37.gave her all, she gave her everything, but it is the lady with

:14:38. > :14:47.the beaming smile who can toast a sensational victory.

:14:48. > :14:55.Agnieszka Radwanska leaves the stage. She came through one of these

:14:56. > :15:02.in the second round, winning it 9-7 against Ana Konjuh. This time it is

:15:03. > :15:09.the number 19 seed who prevails but that was one of the standard matches

:15:10. > :15:16.of these championships. The 56th winner. It is at least three hours

:15:17. > :15:21.and Cibulkova comes through. She was brave, after not being able to

:15:22. > :15:25.finish it in the second set, missing out on a match point, tremendous

:15:26. > :15:32.resolve and resilience to final thing -- finally finished it deep in

:15:33. > :15:36.the third set. 84 minutes, that third set. Fantastic performance,

:15:37. > :15:40.fantastic player, Dominika Cibulkova cannot quite believe it and I'm not

:15:41. > :15:46.sure court number three can either. SUE BARKER: And no surprise, a

:15:47. > :15:49.standing ovation for both players in that match. What a treat for the

:15:50. > :15:55.crowd. They could not have wished for more. It had everything but most

:15:56. > :15:59.of all it had high-quality tennis. A wonderful match from the two players

:16:00. > :16:04.and a wonderful advert for women's tennis and it is Cibulkova who goes

:16:05. > :16:09.through. She is getting married on Saturday but she might have other

:16:10. > :16:14.plans! Meanwhile, over on Centre Court, Roger Federer has just gone

:16:15. > :16:22.through against Steve Johnson in straight sets. It was vintage

:16:23. > :16:26.Federer, 6-2, 6-3, 7-5. The family and the fans are delighted, he is so

:16:27. > :16:30.popular here and I am sure he will be delighted with how we played,

:16:31. > :16:34.putting aside a very difficult opponent who has been in form on the

:16:35. > :16:38.grass courts, winning at Nottingham and a couple of rounds at Queen's

:16:39. > :16:43.and also putting at Grigor Dimitrov in the last round but it was one-way

:16:44. > :16:47.traffic on Centre Court as Roger Federer marches through to another

:16:48. > :16:56.quarterfinal. Serena Williams will be next on Centre Court against

:16:57. > :17:01.Svetlana Kuznetsova. We are heading back to Court Number One. Simona

:17:02. > :17:04.Halep is 2-1 up in the third set against Madison Keys so let's rejoin

:17:05. > :17:17.Jo Durie and Chris Bradnam. CHRIS BRADNAM: Simona Halep is

:17:18. > :17:23.battling well, saving four break points at 3-3 in the second set and

:17:24. > :17:27.she has marched on since. Five minutes ago, you thought that

:17:28. > :17:31.Madison Keys had whacked herself with her racket and she has been

:17:32. > :17:38.hobbling since. It was when she was serving. After the points finished,

:17:39. > :17:45.she had limped a little bit and it is obviously troubling her. I don't

:17:46. > :17:51.quite know what she did. She is using a lot of drop shots, as if to

:17:52. > :17:59.say that she cannot trust her leg. Was it her right knee? No, her left.

:18:00. > :18:08.I think it is the left. There have been some strong reactions so it is

:18:09. > :18:37.obviously hurting. Please, 1-2, final set -- Keys.

:18:38. > :18:41.She could do with a few more of those serves, just to save herself

:18:42. > :19:51.from moving at the moment. Oh dear. She is trying her best to

:19:52. > :19:55.defend but Halep is very clever. Obviously if your opponent is

:19:56. > :20:00.injured you want to find out what is going on. It must bring back rubble

:20:01. > :20:06.memories for Keys, she had to retire here in the third round two years

:20:07. > :20:17.ago when her left thigh let her down -- horrible memories.

:20:18. > :20:25.We have seen a lot of that this year from Halep, very emotional. She

:20:26. > :20:29.knows, she must have seen Keys hobbling around at the back of the

:20:30. > :20:38.cord so she knows this is a huge opportunity. -- the back of the

:20:39. > :20:43.court. She is unable to push off on the left leg as well. Why not have a

:20:44. > :21:02.time-out? The trainer is there. And nearly all players have done it,

:21:03. > :21:09.if it is on the serve, the follow-through, you can whack your

:21:10. > :21:14.racket on the leg and that hurts. It hurts like mad. But the choices now,

:21:15. > :21:21.she has to hit the ball hard and true if she does not want to run.

:21:22. > :21:41.It is like she cannot really put her weight on it.

:21:42. > :21:46.Particularly on the left side, the backhand side, it seems as if it is

:21:47. > :22:14.hampering her. I think Keys is going to be getting

:22:15. > :22:35.a lot back cans. -- backhands. Another love game on serve for

:22:36. > :22:49.Halep. Nudging that scoreboard, pressure

:22:50. > :23:00.building on Keys for all sorts of reasons here.

:23:01. > :23:07.It is the back of her leg. White has she not got a trainer out there?

:23:08. > :23:17.That looked like a hamstring problem. -- why. It is crazy, even

:23:18. > :23:19.if you just get it taped up. And to take an anti-inflammatory. This is

:23:20. > :23:31.very strange. It seems worse on the backhand. She

:23:32. > :23:38.is definitely not pushing up off the serve as much as she would like to.

:23:39. > :23:54.But no, she hasn't called the trainer, she is going to carry on.

:23:55. > :24:07.At the other end, Simona Halep is bouncing around. An hour and three

:24:08. > :24:35.quarters, 2-3, final set. Just didn't get up to it.

:24:36. > :24:45.And now the pressure on every forehand to make its mark. Just

:24:46. > :24:48.makes no sense white she would not have taken a medical time-out --

:24:49. > :25:05.why. Superb. She is virtually playing

:25:06. > :25:10.this match on one leg now. She is still pretty good! Yes, rotates off

:25:11. > :25:37.the other knee into that one. APPLAUSE

:25:38. > :25:42.Really that was a desperate tactic by Keys with the drop shot. Two more

:25:43. > :25:58.break points. The left leg is now staying on the

:25:59. > :26:03.ground, there is no launch pad on the serve. Just the tiniest little

:26:04. > :26:19.jump. And the break gifted as a result.

:26:20. > :26:26.I'm afraid so. How upsetting for Madison Keys. Because this match was

:26:27. > :26:29.finely balanced. She looks close to tears. She had to pull out two years

:26:30. > :26:43.ago. And Halep hasn't got to do anything

:26:44. > :27:02.special now. She has seen it all, she will just make it awkward now.

:27:03. > :27:11.Heads down, she is not even looking at Keys.

:27:12. > :27:24.Too good. It has got to be short and sweet from here on in. It has to be.

:27:25. > :27:29.It was a very good return and she was quickly up to the next ball. And

:27:30. > :27:49.if it was cramped, she could still have the trainer on at the sit down.

:27:50. > :27:58.She is dangerous right now, Keys, even more so. As soon as she can get

:27:59. > :28:03.a chance. It is actually hard for Halep as well, how hard does she hit

:28:04. > :28:10.it? Does she go for any chances? Try to get her opponent on the move?

:28:11. > :28:21.Unlucky. Perfect serve, as cruel as that sounds.

:28:22. > :28:35.It is just landing on the leg looks like agony.

:28:36. > :28:46.Hit the line and is checked and it is at ace and it is 5-2, final set.

:28:47. > :28:52.Still the trainer is not rushing on to help Madison Keys. Obviously she

:28:53. > :29:00.has to ask for the trainer, which she hasn't done so far. Why, I don't

:29:01. > :29:10.know. Just some advice, some taping, some help.

:29:11. > :29:23.She is deep in thought. The trainer is there on the left, Lindsey Bauer.

:29:24. > :29:28.Or the primary health care provider as they are called these days.

:29:29. > :29:38.And Thomas Hogstedt. A lot of wise heads. But still no call for the

:29:39. > :29:44.trainer. It is difficult to understand. I just don't get it but

:29:45. > :29:49.there you go. Halep is just trying to keep in her own bubble.

:29:50. > :29:54.It is almost sympathetic applause from the crowd as they come back

:29:55. > :30:05.out. Madison Keys serving to stay in the

:30:06. > :30:53.match. Will it make Halep nervous? She must

:30:54. > :31:10.be thinking, why does Madison not have the trainer on? Nice gentle

:31:11. > :31:22.ball. She has to get Keys moving. 32nd winner. 46 unforced errors. And

:31:23. > :31:26.another. You can understand that error now. She has no choice, but to

:31:27. > :31:57.go for that from every single ball. She asks the question, and that was

:31:58. > :32:12.a nervy forehand from Halep. She could not get the racket through.

:32:13. > :32:21.Sixth Wimbledon. Semi two years ago the best effort. Keys read the

:32:22. > :32:38.serve. Right behind this ball. Cannot get any strength, from the

:32:39. > :33:02.leg, it would seem for the backhand. Halep has to do this, she has to be

:33:03. > :33:34.ruthless. This is big. Either match point or

:33:35. > :34:56.30-30. Well in. Out! Delight for Halep. Second

:34:57. > :35:04.quarter final at Wimbledon. But you have got to fuel for Madison Keys,

:35:05. > :35:16.she was virtually on one leg. -- feel. Second time in three years

:35:17. > :35:23.injury has got the better of the American, an Independence Day, what

:35:24. > :35:35.Halep has got to the quarterfinals. I think she is relieved from this,

:35:36. > :35:44.Keys was hitting it beautifully, but you could see just how pampered she

:35:45. > :36:01.was. She is going to play Kerber in the quarters. -- hampered. Semi

:36:02. > :36:07.finalist here. Lost to Bouchard two years ago. That is going to be

:36:08. > :36:14.tough, against Kerber, the student open champion. I think they are all

:36:15. > :36:20.going to be difficult, from now on, she will be pleased to get through,

:36:21. > :36:31.against a difficult opponent. Halep, she had those four set points, in

:36:32. > :36:40.the opening set, got through it from a set and 2-0 down. Good comeback,

:36:41. > :36:50.for the Romania number one. An hour, 56 minutes. Much to ponder. You have

:36:51. > :36:55.got through to the next round. Madison seemed to have an injury.

:36:56. > :37:04.What could you notice? Thank you. It was a tough match. I know her, she

:37:05. > :37:08.is strong, and the serve is difficult, I do not know what

:37:09. > :37:14.happened, I just wanted to focus. You just have to concentrate on what

:37:15. > :37:21.you are doing. And she seemed to have a real strain. We were

:37:22. > :37:30.surprised she did not call the trainer. I did not notice. I had the

:37:31. > :37:37.chance to finish the opening set, I just wanted to be aggressive, and

:37:38. > :37:43.finish the match. You did that well. A set down. She seemed to be in

:37:44. > :37:51.charge. You showed good mental strength. She dominated the second

:37:52. > :37:56.set, 2-0, it was tough, but I just wanted to stay strong, mentally, and

:37:57. > :38:02.I was fighting for every ball. You continue to make progress. How close

:38:03. > :38:08.are you to your best tennis? I think I am close to the base level. If you

:38:09. > :38:11.prepared, I am confident, I am happy to be on the court, without

:38:12. > :38:21.injuries, I am just looking forward to the next round. Well played.

:38:22. > :38:30.Thank you. That is interesting. She has had injury problems, left leg,

:38:31. > :38:36.achilles, taking her out of Birmingham, and nasal surgery. I

:38:37. > :38:40.think that explains why she was not interested about Madison and those

:38:41. > :38:52.injury problems. She was not interested. I do not care! It's me!

:38:53. > :38:56.Quite right. She had to run. Hang in. She had to run. Hang in. I

:38:57. > :39:09.thought Madison was playing some good tennis. And it was a sigh of

:39:10. > :39:23.relief. Nothing better. Just look at that. And she will play Kerber

:39:24. > :39:28.tomorrow. Happy with that. Madison was expected to go even farther amid

:39:29. > :39:34.competition, but Halep goes through. Before we go to Court Number Two, we

:39:35. > :39:49.can update you on some results. Shvedova has put out Safarova, 6-2,

:39:50. > :40:00.6-4. Going to meet Serena Williams, -- Venus Williams, or Suarez

:40:01. > :40:10.Navarro. And Querrey, marching on, after despatching Djokovic, no

:40:11. > :40:17.defeating Mahut, the first American at the quarterfinals of the Grand

:40:18. > :40:37.Slam, 2011. Since here he is, match point. Querrey, obviously thinks

:40:38. > :40:48.this is in. Another chance! An ace. That is the match. What a way to

:40:49. > :41:00.end. Querrey marches on, we are going to be

:41:01. > :41:13.seeing Raonic in just a moment, that there's Serena Williams, but Raonic,

:41:14. > :41:21.in trouble, he has dropped serve against Goffin. We can join Peter

:41:22. > :41:35.and Andrew. Goffin has just broken serve. Big point.

:41:36. > :41:46.Three straight points for the Belgian. Raonic has made some

:41:47. > :41:58.unforced errors, uncharacteristic, perhaps overthinking this. That was

:41:59. > :42:07.mental, more than anything else. Backs up the break of serve. Hold of

:42:08. > :42:14.his own. New balls. It has been fascinating, but Goffin has been

:42:15. > :42:27.able to read the Raonic serve wait nobody else so far.

:42:28. > :42:37.Being down a break will almost help Raonic relax, 60% first serves in.

:42:38. > :43:05.Not good enough. If the Canadian, that is the brain

:43:06. > :43:11.trust, chatting away, catching up... Or not! Chewing away! They were when

:43:12. > :43:57.John arrived! Sealing his energy, getting ready to

:43:58. > :44:10.serve for the first set. It can happen like that, when a player is

:44:11. > :44:14.down a break, pressure is off. Lose serve again, on your way to losing

:44:15. > :44:22.the set. You can almost get into the good rhythm, and it looked as though

:44:23. > :44:35.Raonic relaxed, some good serves in that game. Day eight of the

:44:36. > :44:42.Championships, normally it would be seven, but it was people's Sunday

:44:43. > :44:50.yesterday, the competition catching up, it was an absolute feast of

:44:51. > :44:58.tennis. John has broadcasting commitments, almost more of a

:44:59. > :45:08.consultant, or Raonic, and Riccardo is in the team as well. By all

:45:09. > :45:13.accounts, John has slipped in seamlessly with that situation,

:45:14. > :45:15.getting along well, and everybody in the camp has been excited by his

:45:16. > :45:35.contribution. Deep serve. Hit the line. Checked up

:45:36. > :46:28.a little. Unable to change direction, this is

:46:29. > :46:35.smart, from the Belgian number one. Such a good control. The court, dry.

:46:36. > :47:26.Brown. That makes it slippery. Another cross-court pass. Great joy

:47:27. > :47:50.from those. Set to the Belgian. Goffin takes the opening set, still

:47:51. > :47:56.a long way to go. We will be back with that. This is Andy Murray, on

:47:57. > :48:07.the practice courts, getting ready for his encounter, against Kyrgios,

:48:08. > :48:13.he has been sailing through the opening matches, but taking on the

:48:14. > :48:21.difficult and dangerous opponent, Kyrgios, Kyrgios took 16 from him,

:48:22. > :48:30.at the U.S. Open. But 4-0 in Murray's favour. This is Nick. Just

:48:31. > :48:37.moments ago. Court 18. Watching Hewitt. He does not look as though

:48:38. > :48:48.he is going to be worried, about going onto Centre Court, heater.

:48:49. > :48:58.Very relaxed. -- later. Watching doubles with the Hewitt family. This

:48:59. > :49:04.was Court Number Two, Chang, telling Nishikori that he cannot continue.

:49:05. > :49:13.He was 6-1, 5-1 down to Cilic. You can see how reluctant he was, to go

:49:14. > :49:17.up and she can't. -- shake hands. He is so disappointed because he had to

:49:18. > :49:24.pull out of Wimbledon, last year, it is so sad to see him and the

:49:25. > :49:32.challenge like this. Cilic goes through, Nishikori goes out. This is

:49:33. > :49:45.what he had to say. It started at Halle, the scene injury, and it has

:49:46. > :50:00.been not well these two weeks. It has got worse. Rib area? Every

:50:01. > :50:08.point, it was getting worse. I didn't want to but I had to retire.

:50:09. > :50:12.That injury, causing problems for him again. How sad for him to go out

:50:13. > :50:17.of the Championships like that. Before we go back to Court Number

:50:18. > :50:23.Two, on Centre Court, Serena Williams has started against

:50:24. > :50:34.Kuznetsova, on serve, 2-1. On BBC One. And her sister, on Court Number

:50:35. > :50:41.One. Warming up, leg strapped, she has had that since last autumn, and

:50:42. > :50:44.taking on Suarez Navarro, hoping for an easier passage to the

:50:45. > :50:49.quarterfinal, if you want to watch that, it is on the red button. That

:50:50. > :50:53.is what is happening elsewhere. We can go back to Court Number Two.

:50:54. > :51:27.15-30 on the Raonic serve. Goffin must have read that. With the

:51:28. > :52:19.toss? Going back over the head of Raonic. Stepped left. Pummeled it.

:52:20. > :52:33.That is a nice way to dig yourself out of trouble. Five aces. Not much

:52:34. > :52:37.return. Tells you about how Goffin is reading that. Would normally

:52:38. > :53:03.expect to be a double figures. Beautifully constructive point,

:53:04. > :53:42.until that moment. The game that Goffin broke, 3-3,

:53:43. > :53:52.first set, the body serve Raonic served was 140mph! Into the right

:53:53. > :54:08.hip! Goffin, able to get it all the way, but Raonic has had his serve

:54:09. > :54:12.dealt with, as well as anybody. This is the Queen's finalist, a set and a

:54:13. > :54:25.break up on Andy Murray before losing in three.

:54:26. > :54:39.Of course, what happened to Raonic, during that against Andy Murray, a

:54:40. > :54:52.set and 3-0, perhaps his serve became more conservative, instead of

:54:53. > :55:04.hitting the site claims, it was -- the sidelines, it was a foot

:55:05. > :55:15.once the ball... Gets put into play... Players in the back-court,

:55:16. > :55:30.even terms, Goffin is going to get at least 60% of those.

:55:31. > :57:35.He gets two more balls, more secure, quicker, able to close the net down.

:57:36. > :57:43.He had set it up beautifully. Really played that well. Short ball. Jumped

:57:44. > :58:09.on that. Aired slightly. Both of them, tested as the wind

:58:10. > :58:19.picks up. Court Two. Skies more grey than they were. Ribery expecting

:58:20. > :58:24.this, but still, Raonic cannot break through. Full house. It is certainly

:58:25. > :00:27.darker than it was at the start. Raonic 2-1 up in the second set,

:00:28. > :00:32.2014 Wimbledon, the joint rest grandson finish, lost to Roger

:00:33. > :00:36.Federer, wasn't ready to go any further in terms of real belief, now

:00:37. > :00:42.that has changed at the Australian Open this year semifinal once again.

:00:43. > :00:49.First Canadian man to reach a Grand Slam semifinal back in 2014. We are

:00:50. > :00:54.enjoying this match as the juniors are taken place, the second week,

:00:55. > :00:59.Venus Williams on Court Number One, Serena on Centre Court, just an

:01:00. > :01:06.extraordinary story, the two all the women left in the women's draw. 11

:01:07. > :01:11.championships between them plus all the success, three Olympic golds

:01:12. > :01:18.together including here in 2012. Against that backdrop we come to the

:01:19. > :01:23.back of the club. Court Number Two which is the lowest playing surface

:01:24. > :01:33.of all of them, it is a bowl here. 15-20 feet or so, below the surface

:01:34. > :01:35.of the adjoining courts. If you walk around you expect 500 seats in here,

:01:36. > :03:51.instead you get 4000. You have got to think that some

:03:52. > :03:58.point Raonic as to make that shot, just put it back in play. Start the

:03:59. > :04:26.rally again. Was not that far out of position.

:04:27. > :04:35.Very well played, fine rally. Chipping and changing direction

:04:36. > :04:46.trying to change pace and come to the net. And you will just has the

:04:47. > :04:49.answer and Goffin has had all the youngsters so far. Still the only

:04:50. > :05:13.break of serve in the first set. Tennis is so often about playing

:05:14. > :05:18.percentages and clearly the simple way of looking at it, if you are in

:05:19. > :05:24.balance and in great position, take the ball on and be aggressive but if

:05:25. > :05:31.you are not and you are off-balance, put it back and start again. If you

:05:32. > :05:32.try to go for a winner when you are out of position or off-balance, you

:05:33. > :06:20.will miss most of them. Simple. He has had joined with that every

:06:21. > :06:27.time Raonic tries to come in, he gets past across court. Right from

:06:28. > :06:34.the first point of this match. From that position, hitting the inside in

:06:35. > :06:38.forehand, if you will, if that is not a winner, it is a loser because

:06:39. > :06:40.you don't have time to get across to cover the crosscourt return. Tying

:06:41. > :07:19.morning. -- time morning. Another mistake, but again it is

:07:20. > :07:26.Goffin making Raonic get that extra ball and these returns of serve are

:07:27. > :07:30.not easy, this was 136 mph first serve, Goffin not only laid a racket

:07:31. > :07:52.on it but got an effective return with it.

:07:53. > :08:04.It is a break that was entered and looks like Raonic's errors are down

:08:05. > :08:11.to David Goffin's perfect game plan. If you're attracted that attends

:08:12. > :08:15.tournament together in these countries, it would be as expensive

:08:16. > :08:28.as the players. I keep wanting to call this man Goffin but it is with

:08:29. > :08:33.the French pronunciation. Carole King was performing tapestry in Hyde

:08:34. > :08:41.Park yesterday. There was play here yesterday, so I had no chance of

:08:42. > :08:49.going there. Sold out. Nice. Classic album. One of the all-time greats as

:08:50. > :08:54.a song called it too late. -- it's too late, which is getting familiar

:08:55. > :08:57.to Raonic, doesn't look like he has got the ability to change his

:08:58. > :09:04.tactics here. One thing he has to change immediately is start serving

:09:05. > :09:10.for the lines because it doesn't matter if you hit it 150 mph, a guy

:09:11. > :09:17.who returns as well as Goffin is going to put the ball back into play

:09:18. > :09:21.if it is in reach. If he gets his racket on it, he is going to put it

:09:22. > :09:40.in and once he starts to rally like that, he is the boss. 120 mph serve

:09:41. > :10:25.that hits the service line is usually not coming back.

:10:26. > :10:57.APPLAUSE That is a start, a really solid

:10:58. > :11:07.return serve by the Canadian. Quickly takes charge. B that is mum,

:11:08. > :11:26.Milos Raonic's. No Raonic is constructing the sort

:11:27. > :11:36.of points that he wants to play. That is his dad, Dusan, came over

:11:37. > :12:27.from Montenegro for job opportunities as an engineer.

:12:28. > :12:42.That is another one. Just fading away when the ball went above the

:12:43. > :12:48.confines of this bowl, caught two, the wind just picking up. Pushing it

:12:49. > :12:56.into the tramlines, two break points squandered.

:12:57. > :13:11.APPLAUSE He will not hit many harder than

:13:12. > :13:22.that. Decent speed for him, it is the accuracy that has been lacking.

:13:23. > :13:40.Raonic really frustrated. Venting his frustration is just a bit. That

:13:41. > :13:44.is one of the things that John McEnroe was hoping he would do,

:13:45. > :13:51.hoping he would let his frustrations out a little bit, but he was

:13:52. > :14:02.bottling them up too much. Big points, Goffin winning half of them.

:14:03. > :14:12.Raonic has lost most of his serve. Subtle differences.

:14:13. > :14:22.That said he was winning half of them? He out of five. -- five out of

:14:23. > :15:15.five. If Raonic is going to turn this

:15:16. > :15:22.around he has to start serving like that a lot more often. 126 but

:15:23. > :15:49.cosied up right next to the centreline.

:15:50. > :15:58.David Goffin is bidding to end an eight match losing streak against

:15:59. > :16:03.top ten players in major championships, and to breakthrough,

:16:04. > :16:11.coming off a quarterfinal at the French Open, lost to Dominic Thiem,

:16:12. > :16:15.who is going to go places. After that victory, career-high ranking of

:16:16. > :16:19.number 11 and he is playing with confidence and trusting himself.

:16:20. > :16:26.Just as we saw the wind coming from the West and affecting Raonic's lobs

:16:27. > :16:35.and there is a bit of moisture in the air, you wouldn't call it rain

:16:36. > :16:40.just yet, more than a missed and I imagine it would be enough for

:16:41. > :16:47.Pascal Maria to say just stay in your chair at the moment. Goffin is

:16:48. > :16:53.asking the question. You have got some seats in the back of the

:16:54. > :16:58.jackets. As the line judges bent forward to get a better angle on the

:16:59. > :17:06.line, it does not give at the back, that is quality work. Good bit of

:17:07. > :17:16.tailoring. Sporting this year's design.

:17:17. > :17:23.It has been a year that you wouldn't turn up to Wimbledon without

:17:24. > :17:29.checking the forecast. Just as it was in Paris, never her more

:17:30. > :17:34.complaints in my life about the weather during the French Open.

:17:35. > :17:43.Freezing cold during the Italian Open as well. Play continues. 4-3 in

:17:44. > :18:03.the second set and a set up. Raonic taking his frustrations out

:18:04. > :18:25.on the ball man. That time Goffin perhaps guilty of

:18:26. > :18:31.just not doing enough with the approach. Interesting, trying to get

:18:32. > :19:04.the Canadian off-balance. Very difficult ball to defend when

:19:05. > :19:19.it is not moving through the court at all.

:19:20. > :20:06.APPLAUSE The ability to change the pace and

:20:07. > :20:11.changed the direction. Really gorgeous player to watch, David

:20:12. > :20:16.Goffin. Less than six feet tall, not the biggest game in the world,

:20:17. > :20:21.knocking on the door of the top ten Andy has really opened up obviously

:20:22. > :20:36.with Novak Djokovic going out, the winner of this to play Sam Querrey.

:20:37. > :20:45.-- and the draw. I'm sure a lot of the purists will hope that Goffin

:20:46. > :20:52.goes through. A matchup between the two Giants, Querrey and Raonic, both

:20:53. > :22:26.at least six foot five. Once again, Raonic having to dig the

:22:27. > :22:29.ball off his shin tops. Goffin making Raonic's serve looked like a

:22:30. > :23:32.pea shooter. What a way to lose your server and

:23:33. > :23:39.lose the set. Two set leave and this would have surprised some. David

:23:40. > :23:46.Goffin, just an hour and a quarter played here on Court Two, a surprise

:23:47. > :23:54.to some but just knew that Goffin was going to present a stern test

:23:55. > :23:59.and go on to play Sam Querrey. Pick that at the start of the tournament.

:24:00. > :24:04.Roger Federer against Marin Cilic in the bottom half of the draw and

:24:05. > :24:07.those matches taking place at the All-England Club today and some

:24:08. > :24:17.junior tennis taking place and some doubles. Johnny Mary, they are

:24:18. > :24:30.wildcards this year. Against Cuevas and Granollers. 13-12 up, fifth set,

:24:31. > :24:32.three match points on court seven. Also the doubles is back to best of

:24:33. > :24:46.five sets. When the rain was around last week,

:24:47. > :24:57.the matches went back to best of three. Still, Raonic not very

:24:58. > :25:02.effective when coming forward. That is costing him in his ability to

:25:03. > :25:11.impose himself on Goffin. Right now, I think both players are thinking,

:25:12. > :25:20.what has he got? If he doesn't a sneak -- ace me,, he can't win the

:25:21. > :25:24.majority of the points against me and on the other side of the coin,

:25:25. > :25:31.Raonic not been able to impose himself with any kind of returning

:25:32. > :25:38.consistency. How many break points has he had? He has had four break

:25:39. > :25:44.points, failed to convert any of them. Two in each set, the news if

:25:45. > :25:49.you are a Raonic supporter is not great, Goffin has won his last five

:25:50. > :26:03.five set matches, stretching back over two years. In the driving seat

:26:04. > :26:11.at the moment. Raonic has gone off court. Trying to pull himself

:26:12. > :26:21.together really. The court coverage is, did you ever have a go at that?

:26:22. > :26:24.No. They train pretty hard and there are some tournaments where they

:26:25. > :26:28.never do any work at all, they just sit there on one of the things they

:26:29. > :26:35.tried to do, they try sometimes to put the ball for the ball goes off

:26:36. > :26:42.at it very really works because they are so unbelievably disciplined.

:26:43. > :26:48.Rigorous selection process but all this lot no doubt going back to

:26:49. > :27:00.university comes temper. " Covers need a lot of stamina. Those caught

:27:01. > :27:08.covers. Doing the job and post job it is great at both ends.

:27:09. > :27:16.The second Thursday of the Championships is when the court

:27:17. > :27:21.coverage people go out and if you want to see some ashen faces, Friday

:27:22. > :27:31.morning would be the time to have a look at them.

:27:32. > :27:36.Friday, a long way away for the loss Raonic, try to get a foothold in

:27:37. > :27:45.this match and keep himself in the tournament. It is time for Milos

:27:46. > :27:48.Raonic to show us something, show us something a little special because

:27:49. > :28:29.clearly conservative is not going to get it done today.

:28:30. > :29:12.He was the hot man on tour at the start of this year, he won matches

:29:13. > :29:20.before coming up against Andy Murray in the semifinal of the Australian

:29:21. > :30:23.Open and was 2-1 up and had a little injury to the leg, fatigued.

:30:24. > :30:37.For the competition, 84%. Today, and the previous matches, just seven out

:30:38. > :30:44.of ten. That is significant. And then the second serve, just not able

:30:45. > :30:48.to get that back into play. Of course, Raonic was not against

:30:49. > :32:01.Goffin, in those matches. Raonic, his opponents so far, the

:32:02. > :32:09.27th seed, Jack Sock, he has not lost a set, so far before coming

:32:10. > :32:52.into this much. Coming down the centreline.

:32:53. > :33:02.Opponents from the past, basically have said I am going to come to the

:33:03. > :33:15.net, 15 times, and if you can get past me, a lot more than that. If

:33:16. > :33:22.you can get past me, that is too good, that can be yours. It is

:33:23. > :33:30.mentally tough, to continually passed someone, putting pressure on

:33:31. > :34:15.you. Possibly, that could take its toll, on Goffin today.

:34:16. > :34:29.You cannot do that. It is the second serve, 89 miles an hour. He gets

:34:30. > :34:43.just some movement, on the second serve.

:34:44. > :34:50.That is nicely played. He was closing the net down quickly. He

:34:51. > :34:55.needed to do that. And he waited just one second more, had he done

:34:56. > :36:41.that, Goffin would have been there. How was that? They said it was good,

:36:42. > :36:50.and Raonic has had a look at this. Positive it was long. And he was

:36:51. > :37:01.correct. That is why it is so important. It could be deuce,

:37:02. > :37:06.without that. He has never come back from two sets down. I know it is

:37:07. > :37:11.still early, but we have had plenty of six, when Raonic goes ahead and

:37:12. > :37:22.wins this, but to come back, it would be quite something. It would

:37:23. > :37:32.be almost the start of the second phase, of his career. When he

:37:33. > :37:43.watches himself, -- launches himself, from a pretender, to the

:37:44. > :37:51.contender. Still so many things, you feel Raonic could improve. We have

:37:52. > :38:01.seen so many implemented, the new coaching team that he has got

:38:02. > :38:08.together. Only 25 years of age. And this, looking at that logically, how

:38:09. > :38:19.many years of improvement left? Rest should, of all of the play-offs,,

:38:20. > :38:29.Raonic is totally vigilant, going towards the end of finally winning

:38:30. > :38:52.this thing. Not somebody who avoids learning new things. He has got the

:38:53. > :39:39.98 squealer inch racquet. -- square. That is a heavy weapon, for Raonic.

:39:40. > :39:48.That's serve, it was not in the corner, it was at the hitting zone.

:39:49. > :40:08.Not good enough. That could be a surprise, for

:40:09. > :40:19.Raonic, because so often, that serve, 141 miles an hour, it just

:40:20. > :40:26.never comes back. It must be a shock to the system, to come up against

:40:27. > :40:27.somebody like Goffin, who essentially, can get it back into

:40:28. > :42:03.the court. It is certainly raining, they are

:42:04. > :42:07.not going to go all the way back, to the changing rooms, they have some

:42:08. > :42:14.little changing rooms, going to the main concourse. But they are going

:42:15. > :42:27.to need to hurry up. That came out of the blue. The staff, at the

:42:28. > :42:36.quarters, not on the court. I do not know if they are going to try to

:42:37. > :42:53.cover the court, or not. It looks as though it would be a good idea.

:42:54. > :43:16.Two, with the Road running alongside that, and some of the courts, with

:43:17. > :43:27.the junior singles, and the doubles taking place today, you can see

:43:28. > :43:40.still some way going on. -- play. I am sure we will be back. Play

:43:41. > :43:44.suspended. It is a surprise. Raonic was looking in such good form, but

:43:45. > :43:51.certainly getting himself back into this. The rain has been falling at

:43:52. > :43:56.Wimbledon, hopefully it is going to blow over quickly. But they are also

:43:57. > :44:01.going to be causing the roof on Centre Court. We will be able to

:44:02. > :44:07.bring you some tennis. Serena Williams is going to be back, to

:44:08. > :44:15.continue against Kuznetsova. That is the story. The roof is closed. They

:44:16. > :44:26.will be walking out, on just a few minutes. That is going to be an BBC

:44:27. > :44:32.One.. But Tomic, up against the man who put out Del Potro, we can join

:44:33. > :44:49.this one from the start. This is the start that you do not

:44:50. > :45:32.dream of it. -- about. That is going to put him at his. --

:45:33. > :45:40.ease. This is what Pouille is going to be looking for. He is fantastic,

:45:41. > :45:59.incredibly patient. Just going to wait to pull the trigger.

:46:00. > :46:08.I was going to say, that had been nicely covered, but he could not get

:46:09. > :46:19.that back. Tomic should have got that, he should have cut the angle

:46:20. > :47:11.off. Going down the line. But it was just too weak, in the end.

:47:12. > :47:21.That was Pouille's way of displaying, the backhand that Tomic

:47:22. > :48:13.had played. It is break point. He has taken that, Tomic has got the

:48:14. > :48:24.break. Strong staff from the young Australian. It was erratic, from

:48:25. > :48:34.Pouille, but you can't have how flat he can get that forehand. I am sure

:48:35. > :48:41.we will talk more about the erratic mental attitude he can have, towards

:48:42. > :48:46.the game, on occasion, but you do not get to the stage of Wimbledon

:48:47. > :48:55.without being tough. One of the most talented on the tour.

:48:56. > :49:08.The two talents, of Australian tennis, Tomic and Kyrgios, have got

:49:09. > :49:27.similarities. And possibly, attitudes to match.

:49:28. > :49:40.That is beautiful, from Micro two. -- Tomic. Getting defence, into

:49:41. > :49:46.attack. Brilliant stretching, on both sides. And then getting it down

:49:47. > :49:50.the line, when Pouille came to the net. He has got everything that he

:49:51. > :50:08.wants to use. But I like that, Pouille not been

:50:09. > :50:13.put off from coming to the net. He has taken to these courts, at

:50:14. > :50:25.Wimbledon, he does not have much grass pedigree, but he has been

:50:26. > :50:35.doing well. By contrast, Australians, coming up from junior

:50:36. > :50:44.tennis, one grass, down the other end of the court but instantly

:50:45. > :51:00.challenging. Certainly, that was close enough, to ask the question.

:51:01. > :51:14.No! It looks as though he was deliberating, what to do with that,

:51:15. > :51:21.and it is the tactic, the drop, I think this could have been caught by

:51:22. > :51:22.the wind. Possibly, going folder on the court than the Frenchman thought

:51:23. > :52:47.it was going to. Looking foolish. That was wasteful from Tomic. Again,

:52:48. > :52:48.Pouille showing good aggression, with the serve, not scaled to come

:52:49. > :53:20.to the net. -- scared. This backhand, flat as a pancake. It

:53:21. > :53:21.is so difficult, for the amateurs to control those, but Tomic, such good

:53:22. > :53:48.control. Something, for Pouille, on the

:53:49. > :53:58.scoreboard. We mentioned, he was disappointed, at Roland Garros, and

:53:59. > :54:03.then, the unlucky loser from qualifying. But this is his best

:54:04. > :54:10.effort to Grand Slam far. Also, having the good run at Miami. This

:54:11. > :54:22.could possibly be his break-out season. This is that, for Pouille.

:54:23. > :54:27.He was good, at the juniors, not even at junior Wimbledon, however, I

:54:28. > :54:40.believe, so some could see him as a possibly wait developer. At 49 --

:54:41. > :54:48.But 49 in their 30s... 22, that is still young. And he is in good

:54:49. > :54:56.hands. And of course, the French always produce good young players.

:54:57. > :55:03.And that young man, spearheading the next generation.

:55:04. > :55:22.It is good French representation, at this stage, of the competition. 16

:55:23. > :55:36.Frenchman, who started the opening round, in the Men's Singles.

:55:37. > :56:01.It is a little bit of an opening, for Pouille.

:56:02. > :56:19.That is such a good second serve. It was good disguise. A lot of arm, MS

:56:20. > :56:30.action. -- in this action. He just makes that look simple.

:56:31. > :57:09.The French support, making themselves heard.

:57:10. > :57:31.Three aces. Two of them, almost identical. Right down the T.

:57:32. > :58:01.He has say that again, Tomic. Just trying to fire himself up. That is a

:58:02. > :58:55.good sign. He is up for the fight. Nor break back for him, Tomic moving

:58:56. > :59:05.on. I was mentioning, he is one of the four Frenchman, but now just

:59:06. > :59:13.three, Mahut has lost. That was the man who put out the defending

:59:14. > :59:15.champion, has conquered. I thought that could be difficult for him,

:59:16. > :59:28.somebody like Mahut. It is an indication, of just how

:59:29. > :59:40.good Querrey has been. That is a good result.

:59:41. > :00:00.Some raised eyebrows, when Mahut was drawn on court 18. And Isner, last

:00:01. > :00:06.week. Whatever week it was. It feels as though we have been here, for

:00:07. > :00:14.some time. You had the day off yesterday, what are you talking

:00:15. > :00:27.about? That is just lovely touch, from the Frenchman. He has always

:00:28. > :00:54.been having the same is, -- these signs, lovely hands.

:00:55. > :01:02.It is an exhibition of how much skill he has so far, on the

:01:03. > :01:07.forehand. At the moment it is just that very first game that has let in

:01:08. > :01:15.down. We are leaving this match from

:01:16. > :01:22.earlier today because the good news is that no club on court, players

:01:23. > :01:25.back on and on Court Two, Milos Raonic and David Goffin just about

:01:26. > :01:35.to get their match underway yet again, so let's go back, Goffin --

:01:36. > :01:41.2-0 up but a break down in the third set. Let's join Peter Fleming and

:01:42. > :01:44.Andrew Castle. No more than 18-20 minutes since they came off.

:01:45. > :01:53.COMMENTATOR: Players would have stayed up here rather than going to

:01:54. > :02:00.Centre Court, fourth round match. Trying to find out early what to

:02:01. > :02:03.Katie Swan, she had a wildcard into the Ladies' Singles and was unable

:02:04. > :02:05.to advance but a great experience back to the juniors. From Bristol,

:02:06. > :02:23.no based in Wichita, Kansas. Time to head back out onto court,

:02:24. > :02:28.old tennis balls to warm up with between Goffin and Raonic and now

:02:29. > :02:36.the match balls go back again. There is a bar just beneath Court Two in

:02:37. > :02:40.the corner. In front of the hospitality positions and everybody

:02:41. > :02:48.suitably refreshed and heading back in, Goffin would love not to have

:02:49. > :02:51.been a break down, Peter Fleming. Absolutely, interesting to see if

:02:52. > :02:59.either player comes back with a slightly different remit. They will

:03:00. > :03:11.have had time to meet up quickly with their camp Raonic had secured a

:03:12. > :03:31.break early in this first set. Just keep doing what you are doing.

:03:32. > :03:35.Maybe the word was attacked more, take every opportunity to try to

:03:36. > :03:56.punish your opponent. That hurts because it was a great

:03:57. > :03:59.second serve from Goffin yet Raonic returned with interest and then

:04:00. > :04:45.missed the easy one. Reminded me of Lleyton Hewitt, who

:04:46. > :06:09.was so adept at sliding the ball up the line. That was class.

:06:10. > :06:19.Cut out the mistakes, a clear piece of advice for Raonic making too many

:06:20. > :06:27.mistakes but with this set with natural assets and threatening shots

:06:28. > :06:33.that he has, with John McEnroe, Carlos Moya Everything seems to be

:06:34. > :06:37.in place but do more to get Judy win, be more aggressive and if that

:06:38. > :06:40.doesn't work be more aggressive. It would be foolish to think he can

:06:41. > :06:47.start shipping and moving the ball around the court.

:06:48. > :06:54.Let's face it, first things first, he is not a genius, he will not be

:06:55. > :07:00.able to play like Jonny law, he understands that, he is not him to

:07:01. > :07:02.do all these crazy intuitive things -- he will not be able to play late

:07:03. > :07:21.John McEnroe. And yet, he is a power player, just

:07:22. > :07:24.needs to make that connection between aggression and

:07:25. > :09:10.inconsistency. It's the sort of exchanges that

:09:11. > :11:15.Goffin was winning in the first two sets.

:11:16. > :11:30.UMPIRE: New balls, please. Good, positive restart for the Canadian.

:11:31. > :11:38.First nervous game back was a possible banana skin. John McEnroe,

:11:39. > :11:46.he says it is inspirational to have him on board, he said you can't keep

:11:47. > :11:53.Raonic off the practice court, 18 hours a day. He said nothing feels

:11:54. > :11:58.more powerful than your own game, to know what you are dealing with. He

:11:59. > :12:00.would have gone out and competed with him, come on, bring it, let's

:12:01. > :12:51.see what you've got. We are going to leave Court Two to

:12:52. > :12:55.rejoin Venus Williams on Court One. You can continue watching this one

:12:56. > :13:00.on the red button. We will keep you up-to-date on BBC Two. Back we go to

:13:01. > :13:05.Court One, the players have completed their warm up, Venus

:13:06. > :13:07.Williams against Suarez Navarro. First set tie-break, Venus leading

:13:08. > :13:13.4-2. far as this first set is concerned.

:13:14. > :13:29.It is sudden death. It has been a slow comeback to form

:13:30. > :13:32.for Venus Williams, all over the place to begin with but when they

:13:33. > :14:18.resume now, she leads 4-2. Williams using all her reach there,

:14:19. > :14:24.terrific response after being dragged out wide. So much better

:14:25. > :14:29.movement out to this wide ball, there is the early preparation and

:14:30. > :14:36.gets behind that ball, able to strike through the court and Navarro

:14:37. > :14:47.a little bit late. The two service points could do the job.

:14:48. > :15:04.Four set. Such a difference for Venus when she gets the first serve

:15:05. > :15:12.into play. Not as high a percentage as she would like, down at 59%.

:15:13. > :15:28.The second serve has been very hittable.

:15:29. > :15:37.She was pretty sure, Suarez Navarro was going down the line, her weight

:15:38. > :15:43.was firmly on the right foot. She has a very versatile wrist, Suarez

:15:44. > :15:47.Navarro, she can go back to the ball with the beautiful top-spin and

:15:48. > :15:53.under slice it and here she gets right round the outside of that

:15:54. > :16:04.ball. Catches Venus in no man's land.

:16:05. > :16:12.There is the first set, it felt so unlikely after the first ten minutes

:16:13. > :16:19.but she has used all of her inexperience to get back on track.

:16:20. > :16:27.Huge sighs of relief because it really didn't look likely. One of

:16:28. > :16:34.those days when the syndrome she suffers with was having a real

:16:35. > :16:40.effect. But she was keeping her strength under wraps and she found

:16:41. > :16:44.it when she needed it. She was a different player at the end of the

:16:45. > :16:48.first set to the player who stepped out onto court, incredibly sluggish,

:16:49. > :16:54.a little bit late getting across to some of the wide balls. Her coach is

:16:55. > :16:59.such a rock in her life and I'm sure he played his part when they went

:17:00. > :17:13.for the rain delay. Let's take a look at the first set summary.

:17:14. > :17:19.The second serve points won has to go up, have a she missed the first

:17:20. > :17:27.served it was under threat than under attack. Absolutely neck and

:17:28. > :17:31.neck in terms of the error count. Nothing really to choose between

:17:32. > :17:40.them as far as the stats are concerned. But it was an undulating

:17:41. > :17:45.set, that is for sure. Mentally you would think that Venus, having got

:17:46. > :17:48.the first set under your belt, it enables you to loosen up and Open up

:17:49. > :17:55.your shoulders a little bit and play with a little bit more freedom. It

:17:56. > :18:25.will be the Spaniard to begin the second set.

:18:26. > :18:32.Hard tennis is so much more consistent now than when we started.

:18:33. > :18:36.Got a bit more intensity about it and for much of the first set, Venus

:18:37. > :18:42.Williams not afraid to go into the backhand side, the main strength of

:18:43. > :18:47.Suarez Navarro. If you can break down the strength, you have mentally

:18:48. > :18:54.got them. Did it get the line, she has a look up. Umpire is saying,

:18:55. > :19:10.don't get involved, it probably did. What was interesting, seeing where

:19:11. > :19:15.she was positioning herself for the serve out on the deuce court.

:19:16. > :19:16.Serving from much further into the centre of the court, trying to get

:19:17. > :19:41.more angle. Grinding mistake out of the

:19:42. > :19:42.backhand. Yes, she is really hammering away at that backhand at

:19:43. > :20:09.the moment. She needs to gather herself

:20:10. > :20:35.together, Suarez Navarro, things looking tricky.

:20:36. > :20:51.she is having a challenge and I think it is very close, right down

:20:52. > :21:30.below us. Close it is, but out it was.

:21:31. > :21:37.That was a bit tempting, that second serve, Venus stepping right inside

:21:38. > :22:03.the baseline to attack it. Trying to take it on the top of the bounce.

:22:04. > :22:09.She is a game down, I wonder if she will be told at some stage that her

:22:10. > :22:18.sister has made it through to the quarterfinals, Britos set against

:22:19. > :22:21.Kuznetsova, 7-5 but has won the second in a rush. Did the big day

:22:22. > :22:32.for her daughters. New racket coming out, some fresh

:22:33. > :23:15.strings, will give her an extra bit of pop on that serve.

:23:16. > :23:21.How well Suarez Navarro hits the backhand, will probably define this

:23:22. > :23:26.match. I think you are right and she is having to get her body weight

:23:27. > :23:29.going backwards on these backhands, being pushed quite far behind the

:23:30. > :23:36.baseline, she wants to be on that front foot. That looked like it was

:23:37. > :23:39.over the baseline. Looks like one of mine! The racket face was Open to

:23:40. > :24:00.the sky as she came through. Should have made it. On the back

:24:01. > :24:03.foot. Second serve which was 73 mph. Interesting because when you look at

:24:04. > :24:07.the second serve it doesn't do as much damage as you would expect that

:24:08. > :24:11.it does have quite a bit of movement when it hits the court, its wearers

:24:12. > :24:18.left our right so not quite as easy to attack as it looks.

:24:19. > :24:31.That the pedigree backhand that may well change this match. Not a bad

:24:32. > :24:36.tactic, drawing Venus Williams in, doesn't do enough with the approach

:24:37. > :24:37.shot and you can see she is balanced when she hits that on the front

:24:38. > :24:56.foot. That is the trademark. She does take a risk, Venus Williams

:24:57. > :24:58.on serve. And that didn't do enough, got up but Suarez Navarro quite

:24:59. > :25:34.comfortable with the reply. What a super shot that was into the

:25:35. > :25:45.corner. She really got hold of that sliced

:25:46. > :25:48.backhand, didn't she let a knife to a crosscourt and got that ball to

:25:49. > :26:06.stay very low. Yes! Just when Suarez Navarro

:26:07. > :26:12.starting feel optimistic, Williams with one of her best shots of the

:26:13. > :26:16.match. That is the sort of power that Venus brings out onto a tennis

:26:17. > :26:18.court, anything that sets up mid-court, between hip and shoulder

:26:19. > :26:45.height, she will bobble that up. Variety of backhands, Williams

:26:46. > :26:49.wasn't sure her shot was going out but confirmed that it was. I think

:26:50. > :26:53.it is a great tactic for Suarez Navarro to really makes the pace and

:26:54. > :26:56.rhythm with the sliced backhand interspersed with the top-spin and

:26:57. > :27:31.gives Venus are different rhythm out here.

:27:32. > :27:37.Must be quite dusty outside because you would feel the effects in this

:27:38. > :28:11.pretty enclosed court. Speedy serve, 109 mph. Smack on the

:28:12. > :28:13.line. It felt bigger than that, it seemed to really take off through

:28:14. > :28:23.the grass. Disappointing game for Suarez

:28:24. > :28:40.Navarro because she was so close to a breakthrough there.

:28:41. > :28:46.She has not always got hold of those balls and she has tried to sliced

:28:47. > :29:29.them and something she has got it just right.

:29:30. > :29:37.Got away with at that time. On the back foot, defence, Venus Williams

:29:38. > :29:44.but putting the ball quite short in the middle of the court. Big gust of

:29:45. > :30:52.wind and it might have affected the final shot.

:30:53. > :31:07.Well guessed. And Williams goes into the lead. Some of the best of

:31:08. > :31:12.Williams in that game. She is definitely starting to flow a little

:31:13. > :31:17.bit better and starting to get her game together out here. But I am not

:31:18. > :31:21.100% convinced with some of the point play and the construction of

:31:22. > :31:27.points. She intersperses it a little bit with a bit of erratic play. But

:31:28. > :31:31.when she got on the front foot and looked to get to the net and come

:31:32. > :31:35.forward, even that last ball was not the most impressive of approach

:31:36. > :31:41.shots. I was not sure whether she was going for a drop shot, actually.

:31:42. > :31:45.It is not coincidence she has started all her matches rather

:31:46. > :31:48.sluggishly and has worked through a process and by the end of it she has

:31:49. > :31:55.looked pretty good. Not the old Venus Williams. It might be

:31:56. > :31:59.happening here. She does not panic, she does not appear to get flustered

:32:00. > :32:04.these days, she just plays in the moment and waits to see what happens

:32:05. > :32:08.and how matches unfold, but always tries to do the right things

:32:09. > :32:17.tactically. She has great coverage at the net. She really backs herself

:32:18. > :32:30.up when she is there. It is her 90th Wimbledon. Five times champion. In

:32:31. > :32:36.2008 she beat her sister. It would be some achievement for Bean is to

:32:37. > :32:37.make the quarterfinals this year. She is looking good on the

:32:38. > :33:10.scoreboard. Again Suarez Navarro not able to do

:33:11. > :33:14.anything with the serve. 83 miles an hour. It was dipping by the time it

:33:15. > :33:31.got to her. An opportunity there. Even that type

:33:32. > :33:38.of play is doing the right thing, coming in off the short ball,

:33:39. > :33:42.attacking her opponent. It was not the greatest of volleys, but it is

:33:43. > :33:47.asking questions of Suarez Navarro to come up with a poorly shot. --

:33:48. > :34:13.volley shot. She had a long, hard look down at

:34:14. > :34:18.the line. She was not sure whether it would be called out. It is so

:34:19. > :34:34.important she gets consistency. Umpteen times she has had to stoop

:34:35. > :35:03.further than she thought. Be serving from Venus Williams. That

:35:04. > :35:35.is three games on the spin now. The Spaniard has really got to get

:35:36. > :35:39.it together if she is to make it through to the quarterfinals of the

:35:40. > :35:54.only slam. That comes from nowhere. Just when

:35:55. > :36:02.you think she has really got her game together. That is thrown in. A

:36:03. > :36:10.shake of the head from Venus, not happy with that one. I always think

:36:11. > :36:12.she does not let that kind of thing affect the next run of play. She is

:36:13. > :36:29.very quick to put it behind her. Just like that. And 84 mph serve,

:36:30. > :36:33.but it came back even quicker. Great footwork, getting out of the way of

:36:34. > :36:44.the ball and meeting it out in front.

:36:45. > :37:00.She takes a big step into her service motion.

:37:01. > :37:11.It almost gets her rhythm going on that serve. The Davis Cup captain,

:37:12. > :37:20.Conchita Martinez, a former champion here.

:37:21. > :37:34.The serve out wide did the job. But it is still 3-2 Williams. She needs

:37:35. > :37:40.a lot more consistency, Suarez Navarro. Again littered with errors.

:37:41. > :37:45.We know she is capable of sparkling play. She is number 12 in the world.

:37:46. > :37:50.She has been as high as number six in the world, but she has got to put

:37:51. > :37:56.it together now, otherwise time is running out. She has got to create

:37:57. > :38:03.more doubt down at the other end of the court as well. I feel as if her

:38:04. > :38:07.game is interspersed with errors itself. There were a few half

:38:08. > :38:12.chances she will be disappointed she was not able to capitalise on. Those

:38:13. > :38:18.are those half chances you have to take because they will not be

:38:19. > :38:22.presented to you many times. Williams has also fluctuated in this

:38:23. > :38:28.match. When she has been good, she has been very good. Most of the time

:38:29. > :38:32.she has benefited from the mistakes of Suarez Navarro. But she could get

:38:33. > :38:44.a hot streak and this match is all over. It is difficult to get into

:38:45. > :38:49.Venus's head. With some players you feel like you are making an impact

:38:50. > :38:52.than the other end, but with Venus she is very composed down the other

:38:53. > :39:11.end of the court. I am not sure the ball toss was in

:39:12. > :39:35.the right place. Even that one was sitting up and

:39:36. > :39:37.inviting, mid-court. Those are the half chances she needs to take more

:39:38. > :41:17.advantage of. Suarez Navarro is challenging. She

:41:18. > :41:23.has already lost one challenge. She has moved across as if she is not

:41:24. > :41:40.sure about this challenge. She is moving back again.

:41:41. > :41:48.You could feel that one coming. When there is a challenge it is

:41:49. > :41:53.unsettling and there is a delay between the first and second serves.

:41:54. > :41:59.The first double fault of the match by either player.

:42:00. > :42:17.Something distracted her, again another gust of wind.

:42:18. > :42:29.That ball got very low. You can see her jacket, the wind rustling her

:42:30. > :42:33.jacket. It is not helping. The second serve was 70 miles an hour

:42:34. > :42:54.and bat shot was a whole lot quicker. It is still break point.

:42:55. > :43:08.It is over. Boy, oh boy, that was lucky. No wonder they are smiling.

:43:09. > :43:12.She is back in the set. Venus just dropped off, she did not get enough

:43:13. > :43:19.first serves into play and started to chase balls. Suarez Navarro is

:43:20. > :43:30.starting to get Venus a little bit more on the run now.

:43:31. > :43:36.That was an excellent first serve. You could see it swinging away from

:43:37. > :44:11.the reach of Venus. No compromise. She can sometimes

:44:12. > :44:17.make the game looks so ridiculously easy. Standing at about one foot

:44:18. > :44:34.inside the baseline, taking the ball on the rise and swatting it away.

:44:35. > :44:50.She moved in again for the second serve and she got what she wanted.

:44:51. > :44:57.It is quite intimidating. Both of the Williams sisters stand inside

:44:58. > :45:04.that baseline and take the ball so early. Even on the first serve she

:45:05. > :45:05.is threatening it as well and that is drawing out the errors on the

:45:06. > :45:28.first serve. Again the ball was looping high, but

:45:29. > :45:35.she deals with high ball so well. I think Suarez Navarro would prefer to

:45:36. > :45:37.have more. Around shoulder height. She wraps the racket face around the

:45:38. > :45:54.ball. He has called it a fault. I was not

:45:55. > :46:07.sure about that. It looked like it was long. It is an overruled. You

:46:08. > :46:24.have got it wrong. That is unusual. Is that a yellow card for him?

:46:25. > :46:38.Sweet. She has responded so well to getting broken. So come on that

:46:39. > :46:40.passing shot, did not panic at the side of Suarez Navarro at the net,

:46:41. > :47:28.she took her time. A sloppy shot. You do not have much

:47:29. > :48:00.time to react when Serena returns it like that.

:48:01. > :48:17.It was a sitter and she missed it. Venus is in front once more.

:48:18. > :48:24.Venus looks very vulnerable when she is trying to pick up those sliced

:48:25. > :48:29.backhand and they are so low to the ground and she has to stoop down.

:48:30. > :48:34.When she slices her own backhand, it sits up in the middle of the court,

:48:35. > :48:40.it does not knife through the court like Steffi Graf used to do it. But

:48:41. > :48:46.even when she has done that Suarez Navarro has missed on the next shot.

:48:47. > :48:53.I am sure she is pretty frustrated with some of the chance she has had.

:48:54. > :49:00.This just sat up so invitingly. And that is her reaction. She should

:49:01. > :49:08.have broken her. She had two great chances. She has more opportunities

:49:09. > :49:15.on that second serve when Venus has not made her first serve, which has

:49:16. > :49:18.been often in the match. The second serve is setting up right into the

:49:19. > :49:22.middle of the box and it is not doing anything and she does not have

:49:23. > :49:29.to move too much to hit that second serve. And yet there is a little

:49:30. > :49:34.kink when it bounces left or right and she has not been able to

:49:35. > :49:44.capitalise on it. Venus is a break in front, she was gifted it really.

:49:45. > :49:46.At ground level you can see it. It is not so easy to do something with

:49:47. > :50:35.it. Petr Prevc forehand, within an inch

:50:36. > :51:07.of the line. -- eight horrific forehand.

:51:08. > :51:43.It is late to find some real form from Suarez Navarro, but it is not

:51:44. > :52:19.too late. The job is not done yet. Giving her a note of encouragement.

:52:20. > :52:32.Yes! Venus is getting noisier and noisier, but getting what she wanted

:52:33. > :52:37.in the end. You just feel her stress levels are going up quite a bit, but

:52:38. > :52:40.this one just holds that body position, playing it with the open

:52:41. > :53:08.stance, staying low. So, Williams within a game of the

:53:09. > :53:26.quarterfinal. It would be an amazing story, at the

:53:27. > :53:30.age of 36, back inside that top ten after everything she has had to cope

:53:31. > :53:44.with health-wise. What an achievement.

:53:45. > :53:52.She lost the point, but see how quick she was across there. She has

:53:53. > :54:23.moved better as this match has gone on.

:54:24. > :54:32.She is still lifting occasionally, Venus. That looping ball did

:54:33. > :54:37.nothing. It just seems to sit there, it does not come through the court,

:54:38. > :54:39.nothing on it, no stress for her opponent, she can do what she wants

:54:40. > :54:57.with that ball. The first double fault of the match

:54:58. > :55:49.for the Spaniard. She had plenty of time to wake up

:55:50. > :56:05.the options. I wonder whether she caught out of

:56:06. > :56:06.the corner of her eye that Venus was already moving crosscourt in order

:56:07. > :56:25.to cover that one. Suarez Navarro stays in the match.

:56:26. > :56:41.Clinging onto a thread. How Williams would love to serve at

:56:42. > :56:47.her best because then there is no answer. I just would not be too

:56:48. > :56:53.confident of anything happening, even right now. This is where we

:56:54. > :56:56.will find out where her confidence really is and because that first

:56:57. > :57:04.serve percentage has been dropping as the match has worn on. Down at

:57:05. > :57:14.56% now. If she does not get the first serve into play, she might be

:57:15. > :57:20.in a bit of trouble. 78 mph, the average, you can attack that. Suarez

:57:21. > :57:30.Navarro has been fluctuating in her success rate when she has attacked.

:57:31. > :57:33.But she needs it here. If she can break back and Nick the set, who

:57:34. > :57:42.knows what will happen in set number three. Venus has been kept on court

:57:43. > :57:49.for a lengthy times in her second and third rounds. But right now the

:57:50. > :57:52.36-year-old American on Independence Day is serving for the match and a

:57:53. > :58:30.place in the quarterfinals. Given a little bit of a helping

:58:31. > :59:08.hand. At her best she makes those with

:59:09. > :59:31.some comfort, but she has been far from her best today.

:59:32. > :59:38.Well played. What a confidence shot that was from the five times

:59:39. > :00:30.champion. So good!

:00:31. > :00:33.CHEERING APPLAUSE

:00:34. > :00:45.A magic way to finish the match! She is back in the big time at

:00:46. > :00:48.Wimbledon and we missed her! On July the 4th, she makes it through to the

:00:49. > :01:00.quarterfinals. It was not venous at her best but it

:01:01. > :01:05.was very good. That is a lovely smile and she is getting a massive

:01:06. > :01:09.standing ovation on Court Number One, very popular winner out here.

:01:10. > :01:18.You are right, she did not play her best tennis but it was good enough

:01:19. > :01:22.to get the job done. Huge relief. There was trouble, she was not

:01:23. > :01:27.fluent, started slow, looked sluggish, the wind was a factor. We

:01:28. > :01:35.will find out later how much of a factor it was. But she got it done.

:01:36. > :01:41.After going two breaks down in the first set, she turned it around. And

:01:42. > :01:46.was the better player in the second. Suarez Navarro was disappointing. I

:01:47. > :01:51.think she'll be disappointed with some of the opportunities she had at

:01:52. > :01:55.certain moments, she needed to take advantage of some points and wasn't

:01:56. > :02:00.able to. Maybe some sluggish unforced errors from her but what a

:02:01. > :02:02.happy Venus Williams and lovely to hear the crowd cheering and getting

:02:03. > :02:14.a standing ovation. One for the oldies, the oldest woman

:02:15. > :02:20.in the draw at the age of 36. She makes it through.

:02:21. > :02:29.It has been a good year for her, back in the top ten, she has won a

:02:30. > :02:32.title, her 49th title. And now she is into the quarterfinals at

:02:33. > :02:37.Wimbledon, beaten in the first round of the Australian Open, got to the

:02:38. > :02:47.last 16 at Roland Garros and into the last eight. She is on the up.

:02:48. > :02:53.So there is confirmation. One hour and 35 minutes, Venus Williams

:02:54. > :03:00.through in straight sets. She is courtside with Lee McKenzie.

:03:01. > :03:02.Congratulations, through to the quarterfinals, some tough matches to

:03:03. > :03:09.reach this point, today was another one. Yes, she played so well. You

:03:10. > :03:15.know, the first set was really... Exciting and then... When the rain

:03:16. > :03:20.came it was very emotional for me because of the last much. I was

:03:21. > :03:25.like, not again, please, God... Or do some time is a fickle thing. Was

:03:26. > :03:30.the rain frustrating for you I did it give you a chance to regroup, you

:03:31. > :03:35.came back strong on the tie-break. It was hard, I came out on court, I

:03:36. > :03:39.was dismayed, the last match I was pumped but it is emotionally

:03:40. > :03:45.draining. I tried to stay focused, she gave me a feud points and help

:03:46. > :03:50.me to get through. The crowd were fantastic, you had and they had to

:03:51. > :03:54.sit out on the rain but they were there giving you a standing ovation.

:03:55. > :03:58.They love you here. How much you enjoy this Wimbledon experience and

:03:59. > :04:03.are you starting to surprise yourself again? The crowd, it's such

:04:04. > :04:08.an honour to do this job because I love it and I get to work outside

:04:09. > :04:13.and get a lot of sunshine. Who could beat that? For all the players, they

:04:14. > :04:18.are here for all of us, it's an honour for all of us, we feel good

:04:19. > :04:22.out there, am I surprised myself? I have been in this position before,

:04:23. > :04:27.the first time that you win, no one big shoe. The last time that you

:04:28. > :04:33.win, nobody picks you, you always have to pick yourself and believe in

:04:34. > :04:36.yourself. Putt-macro pics you. You continue playing well, we will try

:04:37. > :04:43.and work in the sunshine. Thank you. SUE BARKER:. What an

:04:44. > :04:47.amazing record, her 19th appearance at Wimbledon, through to her 12

:04:48. > :04:52.quarterfinal, the last time she was in the quarterfinals was in 2010 and

:04:53. > :04:56.she is a five-time champion. That showed with the ovation she got on

:04:57. > :04:59.Court Number One, everyone appreciating this great champion,

:05:00. > :05:08.still loving the game and able to produce magical tennis. The family

:05:09. > :05:11.are happen. Venus Williams, great champion, through to the

:05:12. > :05:21.quarterfinal. We know who she will play. Yaroslava Shvedova, up against

:05:22. > :05:27.Lucie Safarova from the Czech Republic. Shvedova who loves the

:05:28. > :05:34.grass courts, 6-2, 6-4, she goes through. That will be the match in

:05:35. > :05:39.the last eight tomorrow. It has been a good day for the Williams family.

:05:40. > :05:45.On Centre Court Serena Williams was 5- or down in the first set and 19

:05:46. > :05:50.games in a row. Asserting her authority, she had her game face on

:05:51. > :05:54.on Centre Court, coming through, coached alighted, hitting partner

:05:55. > :06:00.delighted, she came through a tough one, 7-5, 6-0, the second set was

:06:01. > :06:03.also arena. She went up some gears on Centre Court. Note big smile from

:06:04. > :06:13.Serena, work to do. Angelique Kerber who defeated Serena

:06:14. > :06:18.in the Australian Open final is through. A wonderful point, let's

:06:19. > :06:19.enjoy it. Moving her opponent around the court and showing us how to

:06:20. > :06:31.finish a rally. And that is the way to do it. No

:06:32. > :06:37.wonder she is happy with that and happy with the result. Defeating

:06:38. > :06:44.Misaki Doi 6-3, 6-1, the highest seed left in the bottom half.

:06:45. > :06:48.Tomorrow, the number four seed will play the number five seed, Simona

:06:49. > :06:51.Halep, who came through against Madison Keys, struggling with an

:06:52. > :06:56.injury towards the end of the match, Simona Halep came through. She is

:06:57. > :07:00.delighted with that. She will play and surely Herbert tomorrow. --

:07:01. > :07:09.Angelique Kerber. Seven time champion Roger Federer

:07:10. > :07:14.was in imperious form on Centre Court today. Good in the first week,

:07:15. > :07:19.certainly improving on that, everybody delighted with that,

:07:20. > :07:23.Centre Court crowd rising to him, putting away a very tricky opponent

:07:24. > :07:27.in Steve Johnson who has proved himself on grass courts but this is

:07:28. > :07:32.the court Roger owns, he loves it, they love him and he will have

:07:33. > :07:39.enjoyed it today. Roger is back to his best, through in straight sets.

:07:40. > :07:48.The slamming Sam Querrey, called Hawk-Eye, he wants an ace, wants to

:07:49. > :07:54.finish it in style, up against Nicolas Mahut... Hoping that the

:07:55. > :08:01.ball is wide but it is confirmed... So another ace for a Sam Querrey,

:08:02. > :08:02.another one to add to his tally, conqueror of Novak through in

:08:03. > :08:15.straight sets. But some very disappointing news to

:08:16. > :08:19.bring you for Kei Nishikori. The number five seed. Michael Chang his

:08:20. > :08:26.coach on for many games, they are saying please, do not go on,

:08:27. > :08:31.trailing Marin Cilic 6-1, 5-1, you see how reluctant he is to come up

:08:32. > :08:36.to the net and shake hands, he wants to carry on. The rib injury he

:08:37. > :08:41.sustained, a freak injury, came back and he had the trainer on the court,

:08:42. > :08:45.could not carry on, reluctantly deciding to call today. How sad, he

:08:46. > :08:51.had to pull out of the Championships last year the cause of our Kath

:08:52. > :08:55.injury, not a happy place for this talented player. Sad to see him go

:08:56. > :09:01.but the former US Open champion Aaron Cilic is through and will take

:09:02. > :09:08.on Roger Federer. -- Marin Cilic. Lead should you what is happening. A

:09:09. > :09:16.match we are looking forward to. Andy Murray versus Nick Kyrgios,

:09:17. > :09:23.that is going with serve. And it is on BBC One. This is a match that we

:09:24. > :09:27.showed you the start of you on BBC Two, that has gone into the fifth

:09:28. > :09:32.set, in for a thriller, on the red button, Bernard Tomic up against

:09:33. > :09:38.Lucas Pouille from France, two seeded players battling it out on

:09:39. > :09:43.Court Number 12. But it is the two we are heading to, this is going the

:09:44. > :09:49.distance. Into the fifth set, on serve, Milos Raonic come 1-2 in the

:09:50. > :09:54.third and final set up against David Olson, what a comeback from him,

:09:55. > :09:55.dropped the opening two sets, let's join the commentators, Peter Fleming

:09:56. > :10:08.and Andrew Castle. -- David Goffin. COMMENTATOR: a

:10:09. > :10:11.battle of wills out here. Both players trying to impose their game

:10:12. > :10:15.and personality on each other deep into the fifth set, often opening

:10:16. > :10:24.the decider with an ace, held to a zero. Both players are upping their

:10:25. > :10:28.intensity and footwork in the last 5-10 minutes, over the course of the

:10:29. > :10:34.fifth set, Raonic has never come back from 2-0 sets down and Goffin,

:10:35. > :10:38.two and a quarter years since he lost a fifth set, he has won his

:10:39. > :10:45.last five, fascinating to watch these players, going after it, going

:10:46. > :10:50.after a real prize. A quarterfinal with Sam Querrey. They would

:10:51. > :10:51.probably go into it both as favourites, open to discussion. New

:10:52. > :11:22.balls. A little bit of magic to start the

:11:23. > :11:27.game from Raonic. I'll say! Known for a spectacular winners of the

:11:28. > :11:37.backhand wing, that was like in the Dow!

:11:38. > :12:25.Magic! The backhand side, what I game versus. What a game to remember

:12:26. > :12:31.for Milos Raonic, the second serve landed on the service line and...

:12:32. > :13:18.Raonic did ever so well to get it back into court. Nice finish.

:13:19. > :13:29.It has been another feature of this match, the Goffin passing shot. Nice

:13:30. > :13:31.rack work. Talk about pulling a rabbit out of your hat. He was in

:13:32. > :14:09.all kinds of trouble. Well! Absolutely fracking that

:14:10. > :14:11.forehand, there is the break. Raonic doesn't lose too many sets from a

:14:12. > :14:22.break-up. He has announced his arrival. Two or

:14:23. > :14:26.three years ago, Milos Raonic, everyone waiting for him to take it

:14:27. > :14:30.a further step, we thought it might happen at the Australian Open, he

:14:31. > :14:34.won in Brisbane, that is before the Australian Open, made the semifinals

:14:35. > :14:38.of the Grand Slam championship winning nine matches to start the

:14:39. > :14:43.year before losing to Murray. 2-1 sets up, leg injury kept him out for

:14:44. > :14:48.some weeks, came back, playing very well since. We are beginning to see

:14:49. > :14:57.the finished article. Or close to it. Well... Probably not even close

:14:58. > :15:02.to it at close... Closer... Yes, I think he can improve a lot more. Are

:15:03. > :15:06.a lot of things he doesn't do perfect like but, you know, he is

:15:07. > :15:14.one of those guys who keeps packing away, working hard. And I think

:15:15. > :15:19.well... His team hopes that the addition of Johnny Mac over the last

:15:20. > :15:25.month has helped him. In situations just like this, to dig deep, get a

:15:26. > :15:47.little bit more emotional. When it is required.

:15:48. > :15:56.140 miles an hour on the delivery. So often, Raonic has just come a

:15:57. > :15:58.little conservative and that as allowing players to play with him,

:15:59. > :16:11.get the ball back into play. Those last two Serbs are the guy who

:16:12. > :16:11.believes that he is going to wrap an ace or at least overpower the

:16:12. > :16:48.opponent. He almost mishit the first serve,

:16:49. > :16:53.went into the bottom of the net, what does he do? An hundred and 28

:16:54. > :17:03.miles an hour. Goffin barely flinched.

:17:04. > :17:09.That is a serving display, the like of which... Four straight points to

:17:10. > :18:41.back-up the break. It is blustery out there now. Not

:18:42. > :19:36.easy. Cries from the supporters of David

:19:37. > :19:45.Goffin. Marching around the court with purpose. A break down. You know

:19:46. > :19:49.what? If Raonic is going to serve these 120 mile an hour balls, there

:19:50. > :19:58.is nothing Goffin can do so... The ball is very much in Raonic's court.

:19:59. > :20:02.No signs of nerves at all, strangely, neither of these players

:20:03. > :20:08.have played a five set match at Wimbledon, one of the great tests.

:20:09. > :20:16.In these times of diminishing attention spans, Wi-Fi, 3G, the best

:20:17. > :20:21.of five sets, calls for it to go down to the best of three, I love

:20:22. > :20:27.that. It is what separates the grand slam tournament is from the rest,

:20:28. > :20:34.it... A five set and counter... Demands somewhat more. Of the best

:20:35. > :20:39.players. And it separates the best from the rest.

:20:40. > :20:57.What has Goffin got left? Milos Raonic serving 4-3, but said. Lucky

:20:58. > :21:30.net cord, to get onto the line. He is not going to get blown away in

:21:31. > :22:07.this game, it seems. He has made it! I think he left it,

:22:08. > :22:13.yes. He may be left it because he wasn't certain he could make it on

:22:14. > :22:15.the ball, but this situation, if the ball is going to be close, you have

:22:16. > :23:09.to hit it, you have an open court. Given the care of that reply

:23:10. > :24:11.deserved, Raonic, nice finish. That is well held, you see the

:24:12. > :24:19.animation we have never seen before from Raonic. Driving through this

:24:20. > :24:24.fifth set. Goffin with chances in that game.

:24:25. > :24:29.Now he must just hold and ask the question of the Canadian in the next

:24:30. > :26:29.game. SUE BARKER: 5-4, Raonic, due to

:26:30. > :26:35.college is, we have to leave this match, we are bringing you the Andy

:26:36. > :26:41.Murray, Nick Kyrgios match on BBC Two. We will show you what happens.

:26:42. > :26:46.We will update you on the progress of this match, huge apologies that

:26:47. > :26:50.we have to leave it at such a crucial stage but we are heading

:26:51. > :26:56.into Centre Court. The favourite for the championship, Andy Murray is up

:26:57. > :27:00.against Mick Kyrgios, five games all, Murray serving. Let's join our

:27:01. > :27:06.commentators John McEnroe and John Inverdale.

:27:07. > :27:18.COMMENTATOR: Kyrgios chipping and charging. Ivan Lendl used to do that

:27:19. > :27:23.on occasions. That is proper play, when a guy is trying to squeeze for

:27:24. > :27:28.word, cut you off, not give you options. Here comes Kyrgios, having

:27:29. > :27:36.to try that drop volley again. Right here. Not a whole lot Murray could

:27:37. > :27:40.do. That is the right way, especially if he is to gain his

:27:41. > :27:44.racket on it, trying to go for it. If you are going to do that,

:27:45. > :27:50.absolutely what a player like him should do. Why did more players not

:27:51. > :27:54.do that? Personally I have no idea, players have a tendency in doubles,

:27:55. > :28:01.do get extremely close to the net, I would think, get them to rethink

:28:02. > :28:05.things and back off... Not as much an issue obviously in singles, they

:28:06. > :28:39.do not come in as often as they used to.

:28:40. > :28:46.Of course this match has been sailing on serenely and suddenly

:28:47. > :28:52.Kyrgios is serving to stay in the first set.

:28:53. > :29:02.Is this when Murray ups the ante a bit? Of course, every top player

:29:03. > :29:05.sets his vulnerability and a player feeling pressure, at the end of

:29:06. > :29:11.said, it's only natural is going to happen.

:29:12. > :29:28.That is a spectacular pass. But Kyrgios, why did he hit an approach

:29:29. > :29:30.like that, it gave him time to line that up. Murray says thank you very

:29:31. > :29:50.much. He needs some big serves here. That is such a smart play by Murray!

:29:51. > :29:57.At the key moment, the first time the questions were asked of

:29:58. > :30:02.Kyrgios... Murray makes him play like that. Here are. Almost

:30:03. > :30:19.unforeseen, Andy Murray, three points for the first set.

:30:20. > :30:42.That was quite long. He has saved one break point. 129 miles an hour.

:30:43. > :31:27.Kyrgios had said two set points. He had the opportunity to get it back

:31:28. > :31:33.to deuce, but that error at the net is first blood to the favourite for

:31:34. > :31:37.the title. SUE BARKER: And the crowd rises to Andy Murray. What a game to

:31:38. > :31:42.finish off and he takes the opening set on Centre Court. We will take

:31:43. > :31:47.you back to Court Number Two and when we left it Milos Raonic was

:31:48. > :31:54.coming out to serve for the match and that is how he finished it off,

:31:55. > :31:59.6-4, and so coach McEnroe will be delighted with that one. It is the

:32:00. > :32:05.first time he has come back winning from two sets down. Milos Raonic is

:32:06. > :32:10.through to the quarterfinals at Wimbledon once again. A big win from

:32:11. > :32:15.the big Canadian and the crowd thoroughly enjoying that five set

:32:16. > :32:20.thriller out there. So, that is what has been happening out there and on

:32:21. > :32:25.Henman Hill it is busy once again because our man Andy Murray is on

:32:26. > :32:31.court. He is up against Kyrgios on this magical Monday, which it always

:32:32. > :32:34.is here at Wimbledon. Everyone enjoying the tennis and the British

:32:35. > :32:46.fans enjoying that first set from Andy Murray. That we go. Well,

:32:47. > :32:51.coach, congratulations. He has got a great team around him. Credit to him

:32:52. > :32:57.because the pressure was on. He was the favourite to get to the semis

:32:58. > :33:01.and he felt he was not playing very well. Carlos Moya who has been with

:33:02. > :33:05.him most of the year has done an excellent job. It is good when you

:33:06. > :33:43.come back and pull it out. 7-6, 6-7, 7-6. You focus especially

:33:44. > :34:02.early on in games at the tail end of the set.

:34:03. > :34:15.That is beautiful play by Murray as Kyrgios tumbles to the turf.

:34:16. > :34:25.The truth is that Kyrgios finds himself in a good position, but you

:34:26. > :34:28.cannot let a guy is good have a line that open. Moving towards the centre

:34:29. > :34:47.to me was a mistake. Kyrgios would be well served to

:34:48. > :35:13.flatten out more of these forehands, get the ball to penetrate more.

:35:14. > :35:24.Nicely for Murray at the start of the second set. Tell us, because

:35:25. > :35:28.Murray has such a rich variety of shots, Kyrgios's position at the net

:35:29. > :35:37.may not have been good, but how do you know which way Murray is going

:35:38. > :35:42.to go? Welcome you do not know. What are the odds? How difficult would it

:35:43. > :35:50.be if I stand here? But the problem he got into was the approach shot. A

:35:51. > :35:51.guy like Murray, this good, you cannot afford to put the ball there

:35:52. > :36:05.against him. He is a great player and also a

:36:06. > :36:11.great athlete. He is so quick off the mark. There is no question about

:36:12. > :36:16.that. It used to be that you needed to be fairly small, six feet or

:36:17. > :36:20.under. Now you have to Andy Murray at six feet three moving, and

:36:21. > :37:00.Djokovic, better than anyone. Igloo at him in and he knew the lob

:37:01. > :37:22.was coming. You knew it, Kyrgios knew it.

:37:23. > :37:36.At 5-5 and deuce, it is ill-advised. Luckily the ball stays low on grass.

:37:37. > :37:42.That was not really a hot dog, it was more like a triple latter. 132,

:37:43. > :38:00.ace number six. It is also worth a that if Murray

:38:01. > :38:06.was to win this, he would be making his ninth appearance in the

:38:07. > :38:12.Wimbledon quarterfinal, the same as Pete Sampras. Becker has made 11 and

:38:13. > :38:37.Federer has made 14. That was well built. Much better

:38:38. > :38:41.technique. He got Brownlow and he used his legs properly on that

:38:42. > :38:46.volley. That was a really good job by Kyrgios.

:38:47. > :39:00.Mentioning Federer I almost wish they could sell tickets, there was a

:39:01. > :39:05.pupil's Sunday, I wish they could sell tickets to Roger Federer's

:39:06. > :39:14.post-match conference. You mean all the different languages? All the

:39:15. > :39:21.languages. And at the end of it you feel you have learned something. You

:39:22. > :39:25.feel your life has been enriched in some way or another. He gives tens

:39:26. > :39:27.of thousands of press conferences and he still keeps giving. It is

:39:28. > :39:47.extraordinary. He will be around a couple of more

:39:48. > :39:54.years. Murray knew that he could and should have done better with a

:39:55. > :39:56.forehand. Kyrgios looks like he has got a little sense of urgency to

:39:57. > :40:32.find his way in this match. You can probably hear the silence.

:40:33. > :40:53.The crowd is enthralled by this. Much better from Murray. Kyrgios had

:40:54. > :41:00.to go for that. Because of it he was out of position.

:41:01. > :41:26.That was a Murray style return from Kyrgios, really deep. He flattened

:41:27. > :41:28.that forehand out which is what Kyrgios needs to do a bit more

:41:29. > :41:50.often. The crowd have taken the early

:41:51. > :42:05.warning from the umpire to heart, not to get involved in this match.

:42:06. > :42:12.That was an unusually loose forehand from Murray. I thought he would have

:42:13. > :42:52.challenged the serve which was very close.

:42:53. > :43:06.That ball did not come up at all. This is why the drop shot is so

:43:07. > :43:10.important here at Wimbledon. It takes a player out of their comfort

:43:11. > :43:18.zone, which nowadays is the baseline. It does not come up above

:43:19. > :43:22.the net, so it makes Kyrgios hit up on the ball. It makes the neck shot

:43:23. > :43:35.a whole lot easier if you hit the drop shot well.

:43:36. > :43:46.What was that? I don't know why he gave up on that point. This is why

:43:47. > :43:54.he is not in the top ten yet, with shots like that. Why has he not got

:43:55. > :43:58.a coach? Should he have a coach? Who would it be? Someone like Pat Cash

:43:59. > :44:02.would be able to get in his head, somebody who knew about moving

:44:03. > :44:07.forward, somebody from the same country. I thought that he thought

:44:08. > :44:15.initially that forehand before that was out. I do not know if that was

:44:16. > :44:20.all he needed to do, but so what? Why would you stop playing in the

:44:21. > :44:26.event it was called in. I did not hear any call, no call was made. You

:44:27. > :44:32.are right, that is what happened, he thought his forehand was out. Does

:44:33. > :44:36.it have to be an Aussie? No, of course not. There will be plenty of

:44:37. > :44:41.people out there lining up to work with Kyrgios. We know there are

:44:42. > :44:46.tremendous upside. At the moment he does not want to buy in and he does

:44:47. > :44:53.not want to listen. He has got to respect that person. They have to be

:44:54. > :44:58.on the same page. He does not quite seem ready for it. But I think he is

:44:59. > :45:01.close. I believe with the right people around him he will be in the

:45:02. > :45:20.top ten by the end of the year. No outbursts as yet from Kyrgios.

:45:21. > :45:26.And Murray is very disciplined at the moment. That was 109 miles an

:45:27. > :45:47.hour. There was a lack of discipline there

:45:48. > :45:52.because he should have taken the volley in the air. By letting it

:45:53. > :45:59.drop it allowed Murray time to run and get to it. He did not have to

:46:00. > :46:02.play that shot like that. He did not have to do that either. That goes

:46:03. > :46:17.without saying. He did not have to do that either.

:46:18. > :46:22.That is a real shriek of frustration. He knows he has been

:46:23. > :46:40.the architect of his own potential downfall here.

:46:41. > :46:56.The Australians still in the tournament, Bernard Tomic, it is 7-7

:46:57. > :46:58.at the moment. But here it looks like Kyrgios is on the edge of

:46:59. > :47:20.disaster. Bernard Tomic is playing Lucas

:47:21. > :47:24.Pouille of France. It has been going on for three and a half hours or so.

:47:25. > :47:29.We are just about approaching the hour mark here on the Centre Court.

:47:30. > :47:33.Another break point for Andy Murray which could be very influential in

:47:34. > :47:56.deciding the outcome of this match. Not an exuberant fist pump from

:47:57. > :48:08.Murray, just a job well done fist pump.

:48:09. > :48:20.Not surprised when that ball came back. Murray intensity and teases

:48:21. > :48:21.you and to delay shoe comic he goads you, that is the word used earlier

:48:22. > :48:48.on. Can you coach concentration? I think

:48:49. > :49:20.you can. You can get people to figure out

:49:21. > :49:32.ways when they go on these walks to get their concentration that.

:49:33. > :49:40.Ever since he missed that volley, he has not been the same player. His

:49:41. > :49:46.level has really dropped, his intensity. He looked like he had

:49:47. > :49:58.something going and that game he played on serve was pretty brutal.

:49:59. > :50:23.Murray is in cruise control currently.

:50:24. > :50:34.That is not an armed forced error. Murray is in control.

:50:35. > :50:42.SUE BARKER: He certainly is. We will be right back on Centre Court. The

:50:43. > :50:48.crowd is enjoying British success there and they are out on the Hill

:50:49. > :50:54.as well, which is absolutely packed, as it always is for Andy's matters.

:50:55. > :50:59.But we have some sad news. Earlier we saw Kei Nishikori go out of the

:51:00. > :51:05.championship because of a rib injury and I am afraid Richard Gasquet was

:51:06. > :51:08.really struggling. He pulled his back in the short and a few moments

:51:09. > :51:14.later he decided it was too painful and he could not carry on. What a

:51:15. > :51:18.shame because we were so looking forward to this match. There's

:51:19. > :51:21.wonderful entertaining player up against another, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga.

:51:22. > :51:29.That was going to be an absolute treat, but I am afraid his back

:51:30. > :51:31.injury has ended Richard Gasquet's hopes here and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga

:51:32. > :51:45.goes through and will play the winner of this match on Wednesday.

:51:46. > :51:55.JOHN INVERDALE: He is texting in the Royal box. You are told very

:51:56. > :51:57.specifically not to text in the Royal box. You would like that, he

:51:58. > :52:13.is your kind of player. Right now he is not even on the

:52:14. > :52:15.court mentally. He has snapped. How long will it take for him to get

:52:16. > :52:47.back? Murray is just rubbing it in. If you just blinked, Kyrgios had

:52:48. > :52:51.already served his first serve and his second and a double fault and he

:52:52. > :53:04.is falling apart in front of the Centre Court crowd at the moment.

:53:05. > :53:18.Kyrgios is ready to serve and Murray is still taking a towel.

:53:19. > :53:48.Murray is turning the screw in a big way. But Kyrgios has thrown it away.

:53:49. > :53:52.That is exactly right, it is a shame when he does this, to see this. It

:53:53. > :54:32.makes no sense whatsoever. Talk me through the rally. That

:54:33. > :54:40.rally was basically I am just going to come in and .1 way or another.

:54:41. > :54:46.Murray is trying to add insult to injury by throwing up the lob at him

:54:47. > :55:00.to really infuriate him to quickly complete the set.

:55:01. > :55:13.The funny thing is he is competing harder now at 5-1 down. He checked

:55:14. > :55:26.out at 2-1 down and 15-40. That is what was so inexplicable

:55:27. > :55:32.when we watched Sam Querrey and Novak Djokovic. In the second set

:55:33. > :55:42.Djokovic tapped out, like we are watching Kyrgios. It must happen to

:55:43. > :55:47.some players on occasions with the roller-coaster and the circus that

:55:48. > :55:57.goes around the world week in and week out. Sometimes you must be on

:55:58. > :56:02.the court and think, I really do not know if I can be bothered to play.

:56:03. > :56:04.Your mind can play for tricks and make you lose sight of how lucky you

:56:05. > :56:23.are and be doing what you are doing. Although I must say I have never

:56:24. > :56:31.seen Federer or Rafael Nadal completely checkout. That is the

:56:32. > :56:38.difference. We are talking 17 Grand Slams, 14. That is the fifth ace

:56:39. > :56:50.from Andy Murray. It means very swiftly he is on the cusp of a two

:56:51. > :57:01.set lead. More swiftly than he could possibly imagine. Murray is two

:57:02. > :57:06.thirds of the way there. SUE BARKER: And that set took just 26 minutes.

:57:07. > :57:12.Now just one set away from a quarterfinal. We do know the winner

:57:13. > :57:15.of this will face Jo-Wilfried Tsonga because this is sadly what happened

:57:16. > :57:23.on Court Number One with Jo-Wilfried Tsonga leading 4-2. Richard Gasquet

:57:24. > :57:28.is really struggling. He feels his back and his back has gone. Back

:57:29. > :57:32.injuries are awful for tennis players, it affects every part of

:57:33. > :57:38.your game. He knew immediately in this best of five set match there

:57:39. > :57:43.was no way he could carry on. They are great friends, the French number

:57:44. > :57:47.one and the French number two. It is a sad way to see this end.

:57:48. > :57:52.Jo-Wilfried Tsonga would not want to go through this way either. Sadly

:57:53. > :57:58.Richard Gasquet waved goodbye to Wimbledon. That could be a long

:57:59. > :58:01.injury for him. We wish him well. Jo-Wilfried Tsonga is through to the

:58:02. > :58:06.last eight to face the winner of this one.

:58:07. > :58:11.JOHN INVERDALE: The way it is going at the moment, there is only going

:58:12. > :58:17.to be one winner of this. It is amazing going back 20 years Britain

:58:18. > :58:28.did not have a player in the last eight at Wimbledon. Quarterfinal,

:58:29. > :58:33.semifinal, semifinal, runner-up winner, quarterfinal, semifinal,

:58:34. > :58:46.that is Murray's Wimbledon is met. He has reached the quarterfinals of

:58:47. > :58:49.his last 20 tournaments. It shows how incredibly dedicated and

:58:50. > :58:51.consistent he has been and how willing he has been to try to figure

:58:52. > :59:02.out a way to make himself better. He's extremely respected in the

:59:03. > :59:13.locker room for what he does to get the most out of his game. We have

:59:14. > :59:21.had one match that has come back from two set down. That was Milos

:59:22. > :59:26.Raonic beating David Goffin. I think the odds are against a repeat of

:59:27. > :59:31.that. Yes, Milos Raonic was the favourite

:59:32. > :59:37.in that match, the bigger hitter and more accomplished on grass. Murray

:59:38. > :59:41.is a Wimbledon champion. He is thankful he was given the second set

:59:42. > :59:44.and he did not have to stress at all. Kyrgios will play better now in

:59:45. > :00:06.this set. It must be hard sitting in the

:00:07. > :00:11.Kyrgios box match after match. He often gets angry with his box. I

:00:12. > :00:24.have seen him throwing his brother out, insisting that he leaves. Part

:00:25. > :00:30.of the reason is they want him to show more dedication and an effort.

:00:31. > :00:34.That would help. He has got to take responsibility for what is going on.

:00:35. > :00:41.He is doing a lot of talking to the box right now. It is tough enough to

:00:42. > :00:45.beat Murray. You mention his consistency. You have got to have

:00:46. > :01:17.laser-like focus. He could have won it three times,

:01:18. > :01:24.Kyrgios, but he won it in the end. He certainly does, but Kyrgios...

:01:25. > :01:28.Making a type of run, only natural that Murray would let down a little

:01:29. > :01:47.bit, Kyrgios trying to get some respect.

:01:48. > :02:00.A tremendous shot. At least he is playing hard again. Woken up from

:02:01. > :02:02.his funk. Look at the face of Kyrgios, he knew that was close to

:02:03. > :02:42.being an absolute blinder! That is ridiculous from Murray.

:02:43. > :02:44.Especially considering that when Kyrgios had his forehand, he

:02:45. > :02:49.literally sprinted back towards the net, he knew Murray was going to hit

:02:50. > :02:53.the shot and he still couldn't get there. What do I do? He says to the

:02:54. > :03:40.nonexistent coach... How brilliant was that from Murray

:03:41. > :03:45.as well? Did that go over the roof? I can't see but I knew it was hit so

:03:46. > :03:50.well that Kyrgios deliberately hit it into the stands, he did not try

:03:51. > :03:54.and get this in the court. That may have gone out! An unsuspecting

:03:55. > :04:04.person in one of the corridors outside... Where did that come from?

:04:05. > :04:28.Pouille has just beaten Tomic, 10-8 in the fifth.

:04:29. > :04:36.It is sad day for five setters. There it is again. Amazing variety

:04:37. > :04:45.from Murray. We talk about Kyrgios, but Murray... Just fantastic to

:04:46. > :04:49.watch. He has got everything, obviously, he has Kyrgios on his

:04:50. > :04:53.heels, that is for sure. Just burning his rock shot. -- this drop

:04:54. > :05:04.shot. Again, not the wrong idea, just

:05:05. > :05:41.executing it, it's too short. That is an amazing angle.

:05:42. > :05:46.APPLAUSE Kyrgios doesn't know what hit him

:05:47. > :05:54.right now. Look where he is. He has got to move over. That is the easier

:05:55. > :06:01.shot for Murray to hit, crosscourt. He gets flat-footed all too often.

:06:02. > :06:08.When Kyrgios has been in a hole in this tournament, he serves doubles.

:06:09. > :06:16.But the fact that Murray is down the other end... Is nullifying that

:06:17. > :06:21.serve to some extent and then he does that... That is what happened

:06:22. > :06:24.at the end the first set. This might be handing the match to Andy Murray

:06:25. > :06:34.on a plate. Three break points. He sure needs those big serves right

:06:35. > :06:59.now. -- calmness. That is better from

:07:00. > :07:03.Raonic... I mean, Kyrgios! He figured out a way back. Certainly

:07:04. > :07:08.doesn't look likely fought Kyrgios. Doesn't look like he's going to make

:07:09. > :07:21.a two 7pm right now. APPLAUSE

:07:22. > :07:25.Cheering-macro first-time Andy Murray has let a has let a shriek,

:07:26. > :07:39.he senses he is almost there. Into another quarterfinal. Kyrgios is

:07:40. > :07:46.really on the ropes. Let's give credit to this guy, obviously. He

:07:47. > :07:52.has gotten in his head... It doesn't look like Kyrgios really wants to be

:07:53. > :07:56.out there. The thing with Murray... He adds more as the match goes on.

:07:57. > :08:07.The players, his opponent feels even more pressure. Kyrgios is out there,

:08:08. > :08:14.he hasn't bothered to sit down at the change of ends, he... On the

:08:15. > :08:19.basis, I will play another 3-4 games. Did you notice for he was a

:08:20. > :08:24.couple of hours before the match? Yes, he was watching Leighton Hewitt

:08:25. > :08:29.play doubles. Does that seem like a good use of your time for a guy

:08:30. > :08:34.playing number of them. Before he played Raonic he did not go into the

:08:35. > :08:39.locker room at all. He turned about Queen's Club, went into the players

:08:40. > :08:45.lounge, heard his name called and booked on court and played. And

:08:46. > :08:52.lost. A little bit different. The lounge is arguably that... Than the

:08:53. > :08:53.locker room at Queen's Club but that is another day to get into that

:08:54. > :09:25.discussion! Almost made it! Total giveaway. You

:09:26. > :09:30.can see the drop shot Kyrgios is going to hit a mile away, unlike

:09:31. > :09:47.Murray. More strategic, less predictable. Less obvious.

:09:48. > :09:59.He is taking Kyrgios totally out of it. The movement, the defence...

:10:00. > :10:02.Just driving Kyrgios mad. I am sure those big sporting stars in the

:10:03. > :10:05.Royal Box, full of admiration for the way Murray is doing a very

:10:06. > :10:29.clinical job. All those golfers up there... This

:10:30. > :10:45.is a second-round four under par-macro... That is about right!

:10:46. > :11:01.The other thing as well, of course...

:11:02. > :11:07.Another bit of unnecessary showboating. But actually, Kyrgios

:11:08. > :11:12.could have won that point. You should have one, no question, didn't

:11:13. > :11:17.use his legs at all, he would have won it. We have been playing an hour

:11:18. > :11:23.and 23 minutes, Murray has played three matches so far, three straight

:11:24. > :11:27.sets wins, only losing three service games, he hasn't played a lot of

:11:28. > :11:31.tennis, to get to the quarterfinal. Is that remind you of another

:11:32. > :11:36.player? Federer is in exactly the same boat.

:11:37. > :12:13.We will give him that one. That time he took the ragged with two hands

:12:14. > :12:17.and the skies did much better, moving forehead, looks like he is

:12:18. > :12:19.going to hit the two hander and takes off one of his hands, that

:12:20. > :13:00.made a lot of sense. That is a beautiful shot. Do you

:13:01. > :13:09.know what he was saying? Could you hear him? What he was whining about.

:13:10. > :13:34.He is talking about the score. Probably!

:13:35. > :13:45.Wide! By hook or by crook. Kyrgios won that match, they are feeling a

:13:46. > :13:50.little bit happier in the Kyrgios box.

:13:51. > :13:57.We keep talking about Murray and his variation of shot that he has at his

:13:58. > :14:00.disposal and the great thing is, it is almost solely that he seems to

:14:01. > :14:07.make the decision about what option to take. Well, it seems like he has

:14:08. > :14:11.got more time than his opponent. I think his balance is awesome but

:14:12. > :14:16.also his footwork, that is what separates Murray, Federer... They

:14:17. > :14:21.put themselves in a position where they have some options, more than

:14:22. > :14:28.opponents. You see a guy mentally lazy out there. That he is playing.

:14:29. > :14:32.Not this guy. He is sharp as can be, played plenty of tennis this year,

:14:33. > :14:38.knows what it is like to play on grass, played at Queen's Club,

:14:39. > :14:41.unlike Djokovic. He has had plenty of match play, perfectly content

:14:42. > :14:47.with blowing these guys out in three sets, saving it for when he needs

:14:48. > :14:53.it. John, I saw you in Paris and Timmy, it looks like it caught up to

:14:54. > :15:01.him in the final, he had to play to five setters... The mental

:15:02. > :15:07.exhaustion, meeting Radek Stepanek in the first round, lifting himself

:15:08. > :15:10.out of the mire, two weeks later, the rain delays, mentally and

:15:11. > :15:20.physically exhausted. He played a great first set and didn't have

:15:21. > :15:21.anything left. He is going to have plenty left the way it is playing

:15:22. > :15:45.out. Generally too short. Not doing

:15:46. > :16:23.enough with it. Not just control, complete control,

:16:24. > :16:36.four points from a 4-2 lead. The full repertoire on show here on

:16:37. > :16:42.Centre Court. I think it's fair to say the crowd a little disappointed

:16:43. > :16:47.by this in terms of a contest, they were expecting this to be a

:16:48. > :16:55.barnstorming, swashbuckling encounter, but it's been a bit of a

:16:56. > :17:00.damp squib so far. Murray has just pricked the Kyrgios balloon. So

:17:01. > :17:10.true, taken him completely out of the match. Seems to be not under any

:17:11. > :17:15.stress at all, considering who he is up against, that is pretty

:17:16. > :17:20.impressive. SUE BARKER: at this point, with

:17:21. > :17:25.Kyrgios very unhappy, we are leading the match on BBC Two, it continues

:17:26. > :17:29.on BBC One. If you want to continue watching, switch over to BBC One, we

:17:30. > :17:34.are leaving, we will bring you another fourth round badge, taking

:17:35. > :17:36.place on Court Number 12 between Bernard Tomic, the 19th seed from

:17:37. > :17:43.Australia, Lucas Pouille from France. 7-7 in the fifth and final

:17:44. > :17:52.set, Tomic serving, the commentators are Andrew Cotter and Dan Lobb.

:17:53. > :17:57.COMMENTATOR: Quite a weapon! A rapier like

:17:58. > :18:22.backhand. No... He has just missed it. Great

:18:23. > :18:29.defence from fully, tried to turn it into attack. Just dragged it wide,

:18:30. > :18:45.it was there for the taking. Just millimetres end, these missed

:18:46. > :19:37.shots, from both players. Tommy's team have different rules.

:19:38. > :19:40.The score horse rolls onto 8-7 in his favour, Stewart is the

:19:41. > :19:50.cheerleader, on his feet, giving him the fist pumps. Whereas dad, John...

:19:51. > :19:58.Look about. Body language. Everything crossed. He stopped,

:19:59. > :20:03.cheering, Andrew. I think he is asking Leighton to go and get some

:20:04. > :20:11.more chewing gum. It looks like his trainer has nicked it!

:20:12. > :20:21.A view fanatics in here. The lucky fanatics, I said lucky... Those with

:20:22. > :20:24.greater credentials are on Centre Court, but I think anyone would like

:20:25. > :20:31.to be out here, watching this match, because it is on a knife edge. And

:20:32. > :21:09.once more, Lucas Pouille serving to stay in the match.

:21:10. > :21:38.Must be the hardest job in the world, being a coach, our father...

:21:39. > :22:13.Watching... It is done with the beautiful

:22:14. > :22:21.indifference and casual air. Just had a swing, didn't he?

:22:22. > :22:29.Might have a swing again on the second serve.

:22:30. > :22:35.You are absolutely right. And now... He might start to get a little bit

:22:36. > :23:02.more interested. He is proving he has an excellent

:23:03. > :23:06.tennis brain. It is one thing to stay cam, cool and collected in

:23:07. > :23:12.these situations, quite another to play the right shots at the right

:23:13. > :23:44.time. And that one just swatted down rather freely.

:23:45. > :23:47.That was a rather tired looking first serve. He overcooked the

:23:48. > :24:03.second. This is the first game I am starting

:24:04. > :24:27.to think, yes, he is tiring now. Brilliant from Lucas Pouille. He is

:24:28. > :24:35.closing in, Tomic in real trouble again. So much easier said than done

:24:36. > :24:37.to say, you have got to step in and go for it. Quick as you like, he is

:24:38. > :24:57.up to serve again. Once more, Tomic saves himself. 21

:24:58. > :24:59.break points. Lucas Pouille has had, in this matter, converting four of

:25:00. > :25:15.them. Tomic as to do it again. He has done it! As soon as he hit

:25:16. > :25:21.it, he knew, Lucas Pouille will serve for a place in the

:25:22. > :25:24.quarterfinals. But is there more to come from this match? Great

:25:25. > :25:37.excitement, ebbs and flows. Deep breaths now for Pouille, just

:25:38. > :25:44.an extraordinary match. Incredible, as the French would say! OK... Tomic

:25:45. > :25:52.did not do enough with that approach shot, he is definitely a tired

:25:53. > :25:57.player. But... So much a wonderful, full swing at such a crucial time.

:25:58. > :26:02.That is the key. It is staying positive, making sure that the

:26:03. > :26:09.racket head speed as they threw the ball. Now, to try and avoid the

:26:10. > :26:14.tightening up. That tension, the pressure of serving, 22-year-old,

:26:15. > :26:18.for a place in the quarterfinals of Wimbledon, never been beyond the

:26:19. > :27:11.second round of a Grand Slam before here at Wimbledon.

:27:12. > :27:24.Staying strong to the end, Lucas Pouille. No mistakes.

:27:25. > :27:39.And with aces Labour 26 he brings himself to three match points.

:27:40. > :27:45.He has done it, Lucas Pouille moves through to the quarterfinals of

:27:46. > :27:52.Wimbledon. And Tomic is gone. CHEERING

:27:53. > :27:55.Great talent of the Australian not enough against this rising French

:27:56. > :28:04.man. Who moves through to the last eight. A win for him and four-day

:28:05. > :28:08.match, what a way to do it. SUE BARKER: the crowd enjoyed that

:28:09. > :28:14.out on Court Number 12, Puig rose through to face either Tomas Berdych

:28:15. > :28:17.or Jiri Vesely, that match on Court Number Three. We are ending coverage

:28:18. > :28:23.on BBC Two, coverage continues on BBC One, over on Centre Court, Andy

:28:24. > :28:29.Murray, the world two is about to come out and serve for the match

:28:30. > :28:33.against Nick Kyrgios. That match on Centre Court, we will be following

:28:34. > :28:40.that over on BBC One, also keeping an eye on Jiri Vesely against Tomas

:28:41. > :28:43.Berdych. A busy day here at Wimbledon, all fourth-round matches

:28:44. > :28:50.being played, on Centre Court and Henman Hill, all eyes on the British

:28:51. > :29:01.number one, the world two, Andy Murray. Goodbye for now.

:29:02. > :29:03.You're going to have to keep your head down, Michael. No!

:29:04. > :29:06.Kielys are going to be on the warpath.

:29:07. > :29:11.Are you going to let them get away with that, too?

:29:12. > :29:15.No-one will thank you for ratting on a colleague. So I turn a blind eye?
