:00:29. > :00:41.Come Andy! When you have got a guy like that, you follow. Welcome back

:00:42. > :00:45.to Wimbledon. We are hearing many calls of come on, Andy, around

:00:46. > :00:49.Henman Hill. They are watching on the big screen and the British

:00:50. > :00:54.number one is responding. He is in charge of his fourth-round match

:00:55. > :00:58.against Nick Kyrgios. The British fans are happy, Nick Kyrgios isn't

:00:59. > :01:05.enjoying it much out there. He is being given a tennis lesson from the

:01:06. > :01:10.world number two. Andy Murray won the first set 7-5, the second set

:01:11. > :01:17.6-1 and in the third set is not far away from victory. Let's join our

:01:18. > :01:36.commentators, John McEnroe and John end of a -- John Inverdale.

:01:37. > :01:41.COMMENTATOR: It is probably fair to say the commentators are

:01:42. > :01:47.disappointed, they were expecting this to be a swashbuckling encounter

:01:48. > :01:51.but it has been a bit of a damp squib so far. Andy Murray has

:01:52. > :01:55.pricked the Nick Kyrgios balloon completely. That is so true, he has

:01:56. > :02:03.taken him completely out of the match. He doesn't seem to be under

:02:04. > :02:12.much stress at all. Considering what he is up against, that's pretty

:02:13. > :02:16.impressive. I'm not a psychologist or body movement therapist or

:02:17. > :02:27.whatever it might be but that body language doesn't look very positive

:02:28. > :02:34.to me. Resigned. That was a sigh of resignation as he hit the first

:02:35. > :02:42.ball. Extraordinary. He needs to work on his posture a little bit.

:02:43. > :02:51.Hunched over. Stand up tall. When he walked on court with his tennis

:02:52. > :02:56.bag... That has got to go. It was an observation that two people in the

:02:57. > :03:00.box behind us made, he looks very hunched. The first thing he did when

:03:01. > :03:10.he came on court, she sat on the chair and texted somebody. This is

:03:11. > :03:23.get me out of here situation from Kyrgios now. It is a shame, it

:03:24. > :03:44.really is. That ball looks like it was going long, then he hit.

:03:45. > :04:00.Where was that serve when he needed it earlier on? 128 mph. Still in the

:04:01. > :04:06.game, but only just. He came out focused, he looked to be playing

:04:07. > :04:11.well. He served big. He just got tight at the wrong moment, played

:04:12. > :04:19.some loose shots. He continues to mumble. It is amazing in this sport

:04:20. > :04:24.how one point can change an entire match. A match can last up to four

:04:25. > :04:29.hours, and yet one point can transform it. That missed volley on

:04:30. > :04:36.set point in the first set seemed to define the whole game. We are in

:04:37. > :04:38.agreement that the first set was key for Kyrgios, if he was to get

:04:39. > :04:48.believing he could do something against Andy Murray in a best of

:04:49. > :04:51.five and that was not a difficult volley at all. He went through the

:04:52. > :04:56.motions in the second set, he seems to have given a better effort, but

:04:57. > :05:04.this is not doing our sport any good. He's giving 80% right now? 85?

:05:05. > :05:10.This is Wimbledon. The Centre Court of Wimbledon. You have got to give

:05:11. > :05:16.110% to get back into this, find a way in. It is packed Centre Court,

:05:17. > :05:20.hundreds of millions watching around the world, and everybody was looking

:05:21. > :05:23.forward to this as a fantastic contest between two great

:05:24. > :05:41.personalities of the game as well. It hasn't been yet.

:05:42. > :05:50.It is going to be a huge drop-off in quality in this game for Andy Murray

:05:51. > :06:31.to remain alive much longer. He has been lucky but mainly he has

:06:32. > :06:32.been really good, Murray. If truth be told, the outcome has never been

:06:33. > :07:04.in doubt here. Seven aces from Murray, nine from

:07:05. > :07:09.Kyrgios. You would have expected a bigger differential there. Into the

:07:10. > :07:13.net from the Australian, and Andy Murray is just one game away now

:07:14. > :07:28.from a ninth Wimbledon quarterfinal. Unbelievable. Unbelievable, says

:07:29. > :07:35.Kyrgios. I'm not sure what he's referring to, but you could describe

:07:36. > :07:42.it about the way he played in the second set.

:07:43. > :07:52.You could describe it about his effort, you could describe it about

:07:53. > :07:54.Murray's play. Yes, it hangs in the air. But the speed he is playing out

:07:55. > :08:16.now, he is out of here. The frustration is all the greater

:08:17. > :08:21.here though, isn't it, for the crowd as well who were looking forward to

:08:22. > :08:27.this so much because there is so much talent available. It is the

:08:28. > :08:33.biggest disappointment. Brilliant from Murray, brilliant. The truth is

:08:34. > :08:38.I don't think Kyrgios was going to win anyway, but it could have been a

:08:39. > :08:44.heck of a lot closer. Right there he doesn't even make an effort to cover

:08:45. > :08:51.that line. Murray is so quick, great hands.

:08:52. > :08:58.It is true across all sports, isn't it, the Royal box is full of

:08:59. > :09:04.champions who come from a wide range of disciplines but there is nothing

:09:05. > :09:05.more frustrating than sport. And talent that doesn't reach its

:09:06. > :09:21.potential because of attitude. Good job he hasn't got a coach

:09:22. > :09:49.because they would be going mad about that shot.

:09:50. > :10:02.Here it is. I was expecting Andy Murray to win, but not in 36

:10:03. > :10:10.minutes. Everyone giving around a -- round of applause to Andy Murray the

:10:11. > :10:14.head of the inevitable finale here. Kyrgios is going to make him wait

:10:15. > :10:20.just a little bit longer. And of course the crowd once more. He needs

:10:21. > :10:32.to make him serve this out, see if he tightens up. 132, that one came

:10:33. > :10:51.down at. And again, shouts somebody. The ball flies off his racket at the

:10:52. > :10:56.net, service still at deuce. Murray is still two points from victory.

:10:57. > :11:05.That was sensational. That is the view that we had that shot... It was

:11:06. > :11:09.absolutely... I cannot tell you how brilliant that was. How he adjusted

:11:10. > :11:10.his hands at the last minute and played the ball across court.

:11:11. > :11:43.Sensational. Can he get a time violation for

:11:44. > :11:53.playing too quickly? Not that I am aware of. Can you imagine he got the

:11:54. > :11:58.time violation in the last match for playing too slow? It doesn't seem

:11:59. > :12:01.possible. You are allowed 20 seconds between point in Grand Slams, he is

:12:02. > :12:18.taking ten. Assuming that is long, Kyrgios has

:12:19. > :12:32.won the game and is prolonging the match. So Andy Murray will have to

:12:33. > :12:35.serve it out. When the final point is played here, everyone will talk

:12:36. > :12:39.about Murray, and rightly so, looking forward to his next match

:12:40. > :12:45.against Jo-Wilfried Tsonga on Thursday. If this is the end, let's

:12:46. > :12:53.talk about Kyrgios. What does his team, if he has a team, what does he

:12:54. > :12:57.take out of this? This is hard to take a whole lot of positives out of

:12:58. > :13:04.this. It is not just the mental problem, he needs to work on his

:13:05. > :13:08.game. He doesn't understand what it takes yet, apparently, to be a top

:13:09. > :13:14.professional or a top ten professional or someone who can win

:13:15. > :13:18.Grand Slams at this level. And that is unfortunate. I am hopeful that he

:13:19. > :13:23.will see the writing on the wall before it really gets in his head

:13:24. > :13:28.and this becomes chronic and irreparable because, to me, it is

:13:29. > :13:34.not that far from getting there. Does he need someone to say, do you

:13:35. > :13:45.want to be one of the best two or three players in the world? You hit

:13:46. > :13:51.the nail on the head. Murray has still got a little bit of work to do

:13:52. > :13:55.here. I think it is impossible for Kyrgios to walk more slowly towards

:13:56. > :14:26.the baseline for what may be the last game.

:14:27. > :15:00.Careless, I think he will think that was.

:15:01. > :15:07.Almost a double fault, hitting the back of the line. He needs to get

:15:08. > :15:32.into this game, make something happen.

:15:33. > :15:36.He is about six feet tall. But he is shrinking. He is suddenly five foot

:15:37. > :16:04.six! The eyes have it there. APPLAUSE

:16:05. > :16:09.This missive from Murray. -- this -- dismissive. So here we are, right on

:16:10. > :16:20.cue, after one hour and 43 minutes, it is match point to Andy Murray.

:16:21. > :16:25.Couldn't be simpler! Seven - five... Brilliant when he needed to be,

:16:26. > :16:29.efficient, energy conserving, ruthless, clinical, and he is a

:16:30. > :16:50.quarterfinalist yet again. A standing ovation from the crowd

:16:51. > :16:54.here on Centre Court, and I suppose they will be a little bit

:16:55. > :16:59.disappointed that it wasn't a better contest. But it is seven o'clock,

:17:00. > :17:07.and they can all get home for tea. It has all worked out! Certainly,

:17:08. > :17:13.the level he played at was extremely high, you have to appreciate that. I

:17:14. > :17:18.think people watching on TV will respect him more than they ever

:17:19. > :17:24.have, the level he has gotten too. I mean, he is very hard to play

:17:25. > :17:28.against, that is part of why Kyrgios snapped. Jo-Wilfried Tsonga await

:17:29. > :17:35.Andy Murray after beating Richard Gasquet today, after Gasquet retired

:17:36. > :17:38.in the first set. He will have had a chance to replenish stocks of energy

:17:39. > :17:46.before they meet on Centre Court on Wednesday. And Andy Murray leaves

:17:47. > :17:53.Centre Court with a ninth quarterfinal in succession awaiting

:17:54. > :17:56.him in 48 hours' time. He joins John and Pete Sampras in that very

:17:57. > :18:06.exalted company who have achieved that number. And I think the word as

:18:07. > :18:13.lumber, Nick Kyrgios lumbers off, like a character from the Jungle

:18:14. > :18:17.Book. He has got a lot of work to do. This is the problem of not

:18:18. > :18:22.having a coach, because who does he talk to? It is very hard to talk to

:18:23. > :18:28.mums and dads and brothers and sisters about that, isn't it? This

:18:29. > :18:33.will be an important time for his parents, looking him in the eye,

:18:34. > :18:37.asking him the question you asked me a couple of minutes ago. He has got

:18:38. > :18:43.a brother, he has got people like Lleyton Hewitt, trying to get a

:18:44. > :18:48.bigger influence. These are the type of people who have got to force him

:18:49. > :18:53.to look in the mirror, because this guy is way too good, way too

:18:54. > :19:00.professional, way too dedicated to be worried about Nick Kyrgios the

:19:01. > :19:05.way he played today. He is the example, I suppose. Him and the

:19:06. > :19:12.other top guys, Nadal has been that way, Novak has, Roger. The guy I

:19:13. > :19:15.have been working with in the grass court season, extremely dedicated

:19:16. > :19:21.professional, you have got to respect that. Well, here is the arch

:19:22. > :19:27.professional Andy Murray, after beating Nick Kyrgios in exemplary

:19:28. > :19:31.fashion, 7-5, 6-1, 6-4, he is with Rishi Persad.

:19:32. > :19:34.Congratulations, another straight sets win, no disrespect to Nick

:19:35. > :19:39.Kyrgios, but was that more comfortable than you expected? Well,

:19:40. > :19:46.I mean, the second set was, the first set was very tight, I managed

:19:47. > :19:50.to get the break at 6-5, but it was very tight up to that point, the

:19:51. > :19:54.second set was more comfortable, and I think he lost his focus a little

:19:55. > :19:58.bit in the middle part of the set, so that made it easier. The third

:19:59. > :20:03.set, he said their high percentage, when I was able to get the ball back

:20:04. > :20:09.and play, I was able to dictate a lot of the rallies, managed to get

:20:10. > :20:12.an early break. Whether you like it or not, expectation is growing, do

:20:13. > :20:16.you find that easy to ignore, or do you need help from the likes of Ivan

:20:17. > :20:20.Lendl? I don't know, I mean every year I play here, it is the same, it

:20:21. > :20:25.is not any different this year than it has been any of the other years I

:20:26. > :20:29.have been here. Obviously, I try my best to win my matches, go as deep

:20:30. > :20:34.as possible, you know, I have been playing well so far in this event,

:20:35. > :20:40.but the matches, as you progress, get tougher, playing Tsonga next,

:20:41. > :20:44.you know, who was a top grass court player, and I will need to play very

:20:45. > :20:51.well to win that one. You are played in twice at Wimbledon, in 2010 and

:20:52. > :20:54.2012, does that history and record have any bearing on what happens

:20:55. > :20:59.when you face him in the quarterfinal? I think, you know, you

:21:00. > :21:03.can learn from the matches that you played against him, see the things

:21:04. > :21:09.that worked well, try to execute that, you know, the next time. But

:21:10. > :21:14.every match is different, you know, in an individual sport. If you put

:21:15. > :21:18.in a bad performance, you know, you can easily lose. So I need to

:21:19. > :21:23.concentrate on my own form, try to keep it up, and if I play as focused

:21:24. > :21:28.and as well as I did today, I will have a chance. No bad performances

:21:29. > :21:33.so far, well done, good luck. Thanks.

:21:34. > :21:37.He certainly was focused, he didn't put a foot wrong from start to

:21:38. > :21:41.finish, he came through a tight first set then took complete control

:21:42. > :21:46.and put out a very tricky opponent, a very dangerous opponent, someone

:21:47. > :21:50.with some big weapons, but Murray, everything was working, and he is

:21:51. > :21:55.through to the last eight. No Great Big Sea the break for him, he got

:21:56. > :22:01.the job done, but more work to be done. -- no great big celebration.

:22:02. > :22:06.But there is applause from Ivan Lendl, who is a hard man to please.

:22:07. > :22:11.Murray appreciating the applause from the crowd on Centre Court, what

:22:12. > :22:15.a performance from the world number two and now favourite for the title.

:22:16. > :22:23.If you are tuning in on BBC One and expecting to see the One Show, that

:22:24. > :22:30.is now being shown over on BBC Two. So the One Show is on BBC Two, we

:22:31. > :22:34.have been having the Murray Show one, and we will be talking more

:22:35. > :22:37.about him in just a moment. He will play Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in the next

:22:38. > :22:41.round, because Jo-Wilfried Tsonga was on Court Number One, and not for

:22:42. > :22:49.very long, a sad end to this match, Richard Gasquet, last year's

:22:50. > :22:55.semifinalist, injuring his back in the rally and in obvious pain, just

:22:56. > :22:59.too much. Watch this. There it went, a back injury for a tennis player it

:23:00. > :23:05.is just impossible to carry on, so he had to make the sad decision to

:23:06. > :23:09.retire 4-2 down in the first. So we have lost two of the big seeds

:23:10. > :23:13.today, Richard Gasquet and Kei Nishikori, the number five, who

:23:14. > :23:19.retired because of a rib injury, a couple of big names going out.

:23:20. > :23:22.Jo-Wilfried Tsonga came through 19-17 in the first set against John

:23:23. > :23:28.Isner, that will help his chances, and he be playing Andy Murray on

:23:29. > :23:32.Wednesday. And how nice, they are great friends, the French number one

:23:33. > :23:40.and number two, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga helping is made, carrying the bag

:23:41. > :23:45.off court, he wouldn't want to win that way. That is the story from

:23:46. > :23:49.cordoned one, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga will take on Andy Murray. So let's

:23:50. > :23:54.get further reaction from John McEnroe, first of all, so

:23:55. > :23:59.disappointing for Richard Gasquet at there, last year's semifinalist,

:24:00. > :24:02.potentially a beautiful match. Potentially it was, but I will have

:24:03. > :24:07.to slightly disagree and say the Jo-Wilfried Tsonga is extremely

:24:08. > :24:12.happy that the match ended that way, because let's not forget that he

:24:13. > :24:17.went to 19-17, it wasn't a whole lot left in the tank, it was a great

:24:18. > :24:21.opportunity for him to make a move, maybe get to the semifinals himself,

:24:22. > :24:26.so that is disappointing for Gasquet, but absolutely what the

:24:27. > :24:31.doctor ordered for Tsonga. But it is his good friend. Is hard pleads for

:24:32. > :24:37.him, he hopes for a quick recovery, but he will need some energy when he

:24:38. > :24:45.plays Murray. -- his heart bleeds. You are a hard man! A top first set

:24:46. > :24:49.for Murray, but he just raised his game at the right time. He did play

:24:50. > :24:52.extremely well, I must say, this appointment would be an

:24:53. > :24:55.understatement in describing Kyrgios's effort, particularly as

:24:56. > :24:59.the match went on when Murray lifted his game. That is to be expected

:25:00. > :25:02.when you are playing a former Wimbledon champion. What does he

:25:03. > :25:09.think he is going to do? Of course he is going to step it up! He played

:25:10. > :25:12.a horrible point at 30-40 in the first set, missing an easy volley,

:25:13. > :25:16.but you have to dig in and show you are going to play even harder,

:25:17. > :25:23.instead of throwing the second set away. He competed slightly better,

:25:24. > :25:27.but a lot of that was for Murray, he came in exceptionally well prepared,

:25:28. > :25:32.he got into his head, a god Kyrgios to quit at times, driving him crazy

:25:33. > :25:35.with the drop shot. It was a great performance, but some of it was

:25:36. > :25:40.because he was not feeling a lot of pressure from Kyrgios. He was really

:25:41. > :25:44.rushing Kyrgios, wasn't he? You was certainly rushing him, he is much

:25:45. > :25:49.better inside the baseline, to me, than Kyrgios is. He has to look in

:25:50. > :25:54.the mirror, Kyrgios, if he is a top player wants to win slams. Based on

:25:55. > :25:58.that performance, I would be more concerned. I still think that he is

:25:59. > :26:02.going to win slams, but not the way he did at there. Murray was the

:26:03. > :26:06.consummate pro, playing the best tennis of his life, you have to

:26:07. > :26:11.appreciate what he's doing, he is going to be tough to beat. And you

:26:12. > :26:14.cannot throw away points like he did in a Grand Slam fourth-round match,

:26:15. > :26:18.we were talking with Pat Cash, he needs a coach, someone to try to

:26:19. > :26:24.give him steely determination, because he has got all the shots.

:26:25. > :26:28.Don't you think, at the end of the day, Djokovic tapped out for a

:26:29. > :26:31.period of time against Sam Querrey? The deficit was too high to

:26:32. > :26:35.overcome? I think that had an impact, he is 21 years old, you

:26:36. > :26:40.cannot give away points and games against someone as good as Murray,

:26:41. > :26:44.someone as focused as Murray. Inexplicable. Ultimately, he has to

:26:45. > :26:47.look in the mirror and say, how badly do I want to be the best

:26:48. > :26:52.player in the world? Will I do what it takes to become the best? Too

:26:53. > :26:55.many guys on the tour work so hard, they have got excellent teams around

:26:56. > :27:00.them, that you are not going to make it to the top with that type of

:27:01. > :27:03.effort. We saw him before the match, just less than two hours before the

:27:04. > :27:08.match, watching a doubles match with Lleyton Hewitt. He is the Aussie

:27:09. > :27:12.Davis Cup captain, he may be the man, he had steely determination,

:27:13. > :27:17.there was no bigger fighter, maybe he could be the man in his corner.

:27:18. > :27:24.Hopefully he can knock some sense into him, no question about it.

:27:25. > :27:27.Maybe he should stop playing doubles and focus more on helping Kyrgios.

:27:28. > :27:29.What kind of preparation is that? Two hours before you go to Centre

:27:30. > :27:33.Court, watching a doubles match wherever it was? I mean, I know you

:27:34. > :27:38.need to keep your nerves down and try to prepare, people prepare in

:27:39. > :27:45.different ways, but come on! That is just... I don't know, what was that

:27:46. > :27:49.phrase I said, I don't know. I will say it! It was July the 4th, maybe

:27:50. > :27:55.earlier, happy Independence Day to all my American friends here! Nick

:27:56. > :27:58.Kyrgios is going to go in the press conference and get some tough

:27:59. > :28:02.questions, which he isn't going to like, there will probably a few

:28:03. > :28:06.quotes making headlines around the world, particularly down under. It

:28:07. > :28:10.is going to be that story for him again, not so much about the great

:28:11. > :28:16.tennis, all about how he reacts. It is a damn shame, it really is. I

:28:17. > :28:20.don't have a good answer for you. There is a lot of people, I think,

:28:21. > :28:24.that can help him, hopefully he will get the right people around him,

:28:25. > :28:29.maybe people around him right now are telling him the things that I am

:28:30. > :28:33.saying, or other people are saying. This is not something that is

:28:34. > :28:37.brand-new, we have seen this act before, but I thought she had shown

:28:38. > :28:41.some maturity, shown he was going in the right direction. But he is not

:28:42. > :28:44.going to get all the way there right now, so hopefully he will

:28:45. > :28:51.understand, that is the main thing. He could be a great positive for our

:28:52. > :28:56.sport. You used that energy when you, how shall I phrase this...

:28:57. > :29:00.Freaked out! You used it in a positive manner, and that is what he

:29:01. > :29:06.needs to do. Well, you hit the nail on the head. It is one thing if you

:29:07. > :29:09.lose it, you are going to get some people coming up to you, I can tell

:29:10. > :29:13.you that, I have had experience with that, and some of it was deserved.

:29:14. > :29:19.But if you can figure out a way to fight harder and watch it more, I

:29:20. > :29:23.watched Connors play, I saw this guy with the ultimate intensity, I saw

:29:24. > :29:27.Lleyton Hewitt do it, Michael Chang. They react in different ways. I was

:29:28. > :29:35.lucky enough to figure out a way, when I lost, that I would be able to

:29:36. > :29:37.get it back quickly and use it hopefully to my advantage, it would

:29:38. > :29:40.make me play harder. But when it becomes apparent that you are

:29:41. > :29:44.hurting yourself, you have to cut that out immediately. Yes, he has

:29:45. > :29:49.got the game, it is so frustrating, such a watchable player, he has got

:29:50. > :29:53.all the shots, we just want to progress. What does it mean for the

:29:54. > :29:57.draw? Murray goes through to face Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, who is delighted

:29:58. > :30:02.to see his friend injured at the other end of the court! But that is

:30:03. > :30:07.not easy, Jo-Wilfried has come through a tough match, a two time

:30:08. > :30:11.semifinal is, great athlete. Jo is a great athlete, and he is probably

:30:12. > :30:16.thinking, how many times I going to be in this position again? He has

:30:17. > :30:22.had to bail out of the French Open, he had not played any matches until

:30:23. > :30:29.Wimbledon, he was shaky. That is the situation where Gasquet had a great

:30:30. > :30:33.opportunity, I see Pouille, interesting, pulled out a close

:30:34. > :30:42.match against somebody I thought would make it to the finals, Tomic,

:30:43. > :30:47.so that is a big win for him. I see the Berdych game, I believe it is

:30:48. > :30:53.one set all, so that is a huge opportunity. I saw Vesely play Milos

:30:54. > :30:57.Raonic at Queen's, a tricky and dangerous player, one of the few who

:30:58. > :31:03.has beaten Djokovic this year. Berdych looked really good on court

:31:04. > :31:08.against Zverev yesterday. But there's draw is wide open for a lot

:31:09. > :31:12.of people, it is a commend is opportunity. Roger Federer has got

:31:13. > :31:17.three big hitters, Sam Querrey, Milos Raonic, Marin Cilic in his

:31:18. > :31:23.heart. His eyes lit up when Novak lost, you better believe it! So did

:31:24. > :31:28.the other guys. I commend Sam Querrey for bouncing back and

:31:29. > :31:32.beating Mahut. I am proud of Milos Raonic for coming back from two sets

:31:33. > :31:38.down. The most dangerous of all looks like Marin Cilic. He beat

:31:39. > :31:42.Roger in the semis, he has won a slam, he has been there and done

:31:43. > :31:44.that. Watch out, Roger Federer, that will be a much tougher test than

:31:45. > :31:55.anything he has had so far. We mentioned Roger Federer, he was

:31:56. > :32:00.first on Centre Court today, and he was in imperious form up against

:32:01. > :32:04.Steve Johnson, a potentially tricky opponent, he was dismissed in

:32:05. > :32:09.straight sets. Roger is moving up the gears as each match goes by, and

:32:10. > :32:14.with Novak Djokovic out, he has set his sights on the final. Few would

:32:15. > :32:17.bet against it. At the end of the match, he salutes the crowd and they

:32:18. > :32:22.appreciate seeing this great champion winning once again on his

:32:23. > :32:25.favourite court. Roger through to the last eight here at Wimbledon for

:32:26. > :32:31.the 14th time. So Roger is through to face Marin Cilic, and let's hear

:32:32. > :32:35.from him now, he has been talking to John Inverdale. To get to this stage

:32:36. > :32:39.in the way that you have, is it the most perfect way to get to a

:32:40. > :32:43.quarterfinal they Grand Slam? Well, I think, under the circumstances, it

:32:44. > :32:47.is the perfect way to get to the quarters. I never thought I was

:32:48. > :32:51.going to lose sets, I thought I died lose in the first week, to be quite

:32:52. > :32:55.honest, because I came in with really low expectations, and I am

:32:56. > :32:59.not just saying that to say it, I really meant it. I just didn't know

:33:00. > :33:07.exactly where I was, you know, even though I did get a lot of

:33:08. > :33:12.information from Stuttgart and Halle. But it was never quite

:33:13. > :33:14.flowing, I was fighting with my body, my confidence, everything, so

:33:15. > :33:19.I came to Wimbledon hoping that it would just be OK, maybe getting

:33:20. > :33:23.through the first week, who knows, and I played a great match against

:33:24. > :33:28.Johnson today, unbelievably happy to get to the quarters. I watched you

:33:29. > :33:31.against Evans with Richard Krajicek and Pat Cash, and they were both

:33:32. > :33:35.saying that, in view of the fact that you missed the French Open

:33:36. > :33:39.because of injury, they felt you were moving as well now as you were

:33:40. > :33:46.12 months ago - do you feel that as well? Only today. Dan Evans was a

:33:47. > :33:51.step up from the first couple of rounds, and hard to judge, because

:33:52. > :33:55.Willis was a lefty, because that makes the whole game... It is a game

:33:56. > :33:59.changer for me, really, it makes me feel more uneasy than what

:34:00. > :34:05.right-handers can do against me. Against Dan, I thought I was more

:34:06. > :34:10.explosive, defence was there, and I hit some really good shot out of

:34:11. > :34:14.defence. You're playing some dinner with a monster serve, when you play

:34:15. > :34:19.these guys, does it require a different mindset? Slightly, even

:34:20. > :34:22.though my approach on grass is protect your own serve than figure

:34:23. > :34:26.out the rest. That is not going to change against Johnson or Cilic,

:34:27. > :34:32.from that standpoint there's not much I have to change. I just think

:34:33. > :34:35.Marin has got a bigger serve, he is quite dangerous off the return as

:34:36. > :34:40.well, because he just swings at it, and when he goes very hot, like in

:34:41. > :34:44.the US Open, he blew me off the court. I have got to find a way to

:34:45. > :34:51.make him feel uncomfortable, we practised, actually, here ten days

:34:52. > :34:54.ago, he is playing well, so not surprised to see him in the quarters

:34:55. > :34:58.as well. You said in your press conference... There is a lot of

:34:59. > :35:02.things I say! All the young guns are going off to Beyonce, going to the

:35:03. > :35:07.West End, seeing London, doing London, which you have done so many

:35:08. > :35:10.times. You said you are still watching a lot of tennis. When you

:35:11. > :35:15.watch a lot of tennis, when you watch matches here, are you watching

:35:16. > :35:22.this passionately, will analytically? Mentally making notes

:35:23. > :35:26.about how people are playing? So... I don't watch that much tennis,

:35:27. > :35:31.actually, like the French Open I didn't sit almost a point, because I

:35:32. > :35:35.was busy doing my rehab, spending time with my family, doing that

:35:36. > :35:41.stuff. So after the two elements, I watch a lot of tennis, because then

:35:42. > :35:54.just intrigued, and when I do watch, I watch as a fan, just a regular

:35:55. > :35:59.guy. -- the tournaments. That is how I watch those matches, not any

:36:00. > :36:02.different, I don't look at it in a way that... This is how I am going

:36:03. > :36:06.to play the next time around, because for me I will not be playing

:36:07. > :36:10.those guys probably anyway, I will be so far away in the draw. Very

:36:11. > :36:14.often I just watch it because I enjoy watching tennis, and I have

:36:15. > :36:23.seen some great matches here, and I am excited about what is to come for

:36:24. > :36:26.me, but also for the fans, for the other players. Pat Cash is with me,

:36:27. > :36:32.lovely, isn't it? 34 years of age, still just loving the game as much

:36:33. > :36:37.as ever. A fan, but I think he is still making mental notes, he has

:36:38. > :36:42.missed that back and twice in a row! He is a tennis fan. Probably more

:36:43. > :36:47.than anybody, you see that he loves tennis, he loves being here. And the

:36:48. > :36:50.history, everything, breaking records, chasing people, that

:36:51. > :36:56.motivates him. He will need motivation, Marin Cilic in the next

:36:57. > :36:59.round is a tough opponent. As John McEnroe just said, he has been here

:37:00. > :37:06.and done it before, and Roger admitted he blew him away in the US

:37:07. > :37:10.Open. That was some performance too, to win those three matches,

:37:11. > :37:15.quarters, semis and the final, to play so well, and it has not been

:37:16. > :37:20.smooth sailing since for Marin, but he has a big game, huge serve. He

:37:21. > :37:25.can do everything, it is sort of putting it together, injuries,

:37:26. > :37:30.throughout his career, and of course that unfortunate ban that he had,

:37:31. > :37:35.which was quite was a killer is, as it turned out in the end. But he has

:37:36. > :37:40.had a new lease of life. -- which was quite ridiculous. I have to get

:37:41. > :37:46.your comments and Nick Kyrgios, but how good was Murray? Very, very

:37:47. > :37:49.good, I am most impressed by him from all the players. That could

:37:50. > :37:55.have been a real test, he did exactly what he needed to do. Nick

:37:56. > :37:59.served 90% first serve, or close to that in the first set, and still did

:38:00. > :38:03.not get to the tie-breaker. He didn't win a point on his second

:38:04. > :38:07.serve, that is how focused Murray was once he got the ball back into

:38:08. > :38:15.play, Murray was incredibly good then, but sometimes you wonder about

:38:16. > :38:18.Nick and think, maybe he needs rewiring at some stage. I know! It

:38:19. > :38:21.looks like sometimes he is not trying. I don't think he is, there's

:38:22. > :38:30.no doubt about it, but that is the way he plays. And don't talk to me,

:38:31. > :38:37.he is saying. You can never win, do you? He wants someone to encourage

:38:38. > :38:40.him, he is a different sort of kit, incredibly talented. That is what

:38:41. > :38:44.frustrates a lot of Australians, a lot of people, when you see that

:38:45. > :38:52.much talent, you would just like it to be utilised a bit better. I just

:38:53. > :38:55.don't think he has that sort of kid. He's getting better every year, he

:38:56. > :39:01.has calmed down, he has done his best effort to not get himself in so

:39:02. > :39:05.much trouble this year. He has still chalked up a few fines, of course!

:39:06. > :39:08.But you love watching him, on TV you love watching him, and people were

:39:09. > :39:14.watching this and saying, what is going on? People may feel

:39:15. > :39:18.short-changed by that, but give credit to Murray, he really played

:39:19. > :39:24.well, and we will see Nick back here, hopefully he will continue to

:39:25. > :39:27.improve, and there is some work on consistency, day in, day out, and

:39:28. > :39:31.whether he is that sort of person, he says, I don't really love tennis,

:39:32. > :39:37.I will not be playing when I am 30. I understand that, I said the same

:39:38. > :39:41.thing, Andre Agassi, you read books, they do not love tennis like Roger

:39:42. > :39:48.Federer loves tennis. I didn't love it, I was just good at it. It sounds

:39:49. > :39:51.egotistical, but Agassi said the same thing, there were times when he

:39:52. > :39:56.didn't want to be near a tennis ball, and that happens to almost all

:39:57. > :40:00.of us - except Roger! You must have moments where he says, I hate

:40:01. > :40:06.tennis, but Nick goes up and down like that, it makes it exciting to

:40:07. > :40:11.watch, and sometimes, wow, if I had that talent, what could I do with

:40:12. > :40:14.it?! He will be looking back and thinking, I had it all, if only I

:40:15. > :40:18.had been pushed in the right direction, but he doesn't seem to

:40:19. > :40:25.want the help. He doesn't want to be coached... What about Lleyton, could

:40:26. > :40:31.he be the man? I will tell you what, take a bit of Lleyton, what he has

:40:32. > :40:37.got, Tomic, Kyrgios, they really need that, and that is focused,

:40:38. > :40:41.dedication to being the best you can possibly be. I interviewed Milos

:40:42. > :40:46.Raonic for the Times the other week, and a couple of things he said,

:40:47. > :40:51.exactly like that. He wants to finish his career and say, I gave it

:40:52. > :40:57.everything to be the best. He also has fear of not performing, and not

:40:58. > :41:04.doing as well as he could, and fear drives him to go out... Maybe he is

:41:05. > :41:09.not all that healthy, but it pushes you to get out of bed at six o'clock

:41:10. > :41:13.in the morning, do the exercises, do the extra things, fear of not living

:41:14. > :41:19.up to your expectation. In many ways, maybe these guys need a bit of

:41:20. > :41:23.that. Just listening to you, that is what Nick Kyrgios needs to be told.

:41:24. > :41:27.We are going to start a petition now to get you coaching Nick Kyrgios! He

:41:28. > :41:32.is not interested in what I have to say. I did even a little bit of

:41:33. > :41:38.advice, one thing I said, get off Twitter, and he wrote back saying,

:41:39. > :41:42.mind your own business! We are going to have to go, I'm afraid, we have

:41:43. > :41:44.run out of time on BBC One, but Murray is through, hope you enjoyed

:41:45. > :41:47.it, bye-bye!
