:00:28. > :00:38.Come on Andy! Come on, Andy! When you've got a guy like that, you

:00:39. > :00:42.follow. Good evening. That familiar cry is ringing out around Centre

:00:43. > :00:48.Court right now, as Andy Murray is locked in battle in a quarterfinal

:00:49. > :00:51.match against a two-time Wimbledon semifinalist, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga.

:00:52. > :00:57.Murray came through a tense tie-break 12-10 in the first set. He

:00:58. > :01:06.raced through the second set 6-1. He is in trouble in the third, the

:01:07. > :01:10.Frenchman up a break. Let's join our commentators, John McEnroe, Lleyton

:01:11. > :01:19.Hewitt and Andrew Castle. COMMENTATOR: Oh! That is an real --

:01:20. > :01:25.unreal! We saw a bit of that in the first set. Yet another body blow for

:01:26. > :01:32.Jo-Wilfried Tsonga. You wonder what he's got left. Brutal first point.

:01:33. > :01:54.He is a break up. UMPIRE: Mr Tsonga is challenging the

:01:55. > :02:03.call. He wants to slow things down, challenge this call. It was in!

:02:04. > :02:17.That is one of those ones where you know the technology is right and you

:02:18. > :02:21.just have to accept the tolerances of the technology at work. To the

:02:22. > :02:25.naked eye, that looked about a foot out. Andy Murray was checking the

:02:26. > :02:43.ball there, to see if there was any little bit of chalk on it.

:02:44. > :03:07.Which serve were you looking at that looked a foot in? Wishful thinking!

:03:08. > :03:54.And the Frenchman is one game away from taking this third set. We are

:03:55. > :04:01.staying with the tennis here on BBC One right through to its conclusion.

:04:02. > :04:07.If you're at tuning into The One Show, that is now being shown on BBC

:04:08. > :04:16.Two. The One Show is now on BBC Two. COMMENTATOR: Jo-Wilfried Tsonga,

:04:17. > :04:26.Newcomer of the year in 2007 and Player of the Year in 2008. He beat

:04:27. > :04:33.Richard Gasquet and Rafael Nadal, he lost to Djokovic in the file but he

:04:34. > :04:38.was top 20 after that. Andy Murray here, first number two in the world

:04:39. > :04:45.in 2009 after he made his semifinal at Wimbledon. He's been up there,

:04:46. > :04:52.now ahead of Rafael Nadal, who is injured, Roger Federer who is not

:04:53. > :04:56.playing as many tournaments any more, but Novak Djokovic the big

:04:57. > :05:01.story of the tournament and his ousting by Sam Querrey on Court

:05:02. > :05:07.Number One. Imagine what Murray thought about that, despite the

:05:08. > :05:14.public mutterings. He was up rather easily and he sort of lost his edge

:05:15. > :05:15.completely and all of a sudden felt the wind on his shoulders but

:05:16. > :05:41.rallied to eventually win that set. APPLAUSE

:05:42. > :05:45.Tsonga is now playing well. It's amazing how clean he's hitting the

:05:46. > :05:47.ball again. Throughout that second set he was struggling to find the

:05:48. > :06:17.strings for a while. This match illustrates how difficult

:06:18. > :06:23.it is to physically train effectively for tennis. You have to

:06:24. > :06:25.be a real all-rounder. Football, you've got 90 minutes, maybe 30

:06:26. > :06:45.extra. Two hours and 17 minutes, and Tsonga

:06:46. > :06:51.getting a second or a third wind here. This would be an added bonus,

:06:52. > :06:53.if he were able to break and then start serving the fourth set, get a

:06:54. > :07:09.lead again. He could taste a couple of set

:07:10. > :07:30.points, there. He has turned that stat round,

:07:31. > :07:46.hasn't he, Tsonga? Getting the ball back in play.

:07:47. > :08:17.Murray is the one who looks to be stuck in third gear at the moment.

:08:18. > :08:46.APPLAUSE A couple of good first serves. Given

:08:47. > :08:51.himself game point and the opportunity to have another shot at

:08:52. > :08:52.the Tsonga serve. He may be feeling a bit of pressure trying to close

:08:53. > :09:17.out this set. APPLAUSE

:09:18. > :09:21.That is a stronghold of serve from a set point down. Remember, he hasn't

:09:22. > :09:22.lost a set come Andy Murray, during these championships. But that was

:09:23. > :09:32.close! STUDIO

:09:33. > :09:36.Tsonga serving for the third set. Just to remind you that if you are

:09:37. > :09:40.tuning in and expecting The One Show, that is now over on BBC Two.

:09:41. > :09:46.Here on BBC One, we are staying with the tennis.

:09:47. > :10:25.Oh! CHEERING AND APPLAUSE

:10:26. > :10:34.It's one thing getting their, but then to control the ball and land it

:10:35. > :10:38.in, beautifully done. Tsonga's drop shot was very well disguised. Just

:10:39. > :11:26.where he wanted to hit it. APPLAUSE

:11:27. > :11:33.Impressive serving game. He has made all four first serves, three of them

:11:34. > :11:36.well over 130 mph. 136 to start the game. That one, 130 seven. Set

:11:37. > :11:42.points. 141 mph, but it is of this outfield

:11:43. > :11:48.stewed station. He's pretty fired up, Tsonga. He is

:11:49. > :12:29.bringing the heat on everything. Really well done by Jo-Wilfried

:12:30. > :12:36.Tsonga. He's not out of this match yet. He's come back from two sets

:12:37. > :12:39.down on four occasions. He would break a view British hearts if he

:12:40. > :12:46.did it tonight. A long way to go, but that is the first set done.

:12:47. > :12:51.That's a great effort. It's a great effort. You could see him sizing

:12:52. > :12:58.things up. He let his intensity and concentration slip early in the

:12:59. > :13:03.second. You could see him gather himself so he could get off to a

:13:04. > :13:09.lead in the third and that he did. He's playing the type of tennis that

:13:10. > :13:13.makes you hark back to that match against Federer, because Federer did

:13:14. > :13:19.it today in two sets down, coming back. Tsonga did it to Federer that

:13:20. > :13:24.time. Now the first 15 minutes of this fourth set is absolutely

:13:25. > :13:32.crucial, Leighton. It's going to be, but the big thing is Andy serving

:13:33. > :13:36.first. Hopefully he can hold serve and then try to build some pressure

:13:37. > :13:40.on the Tsonga serve again. For me, Tsonga is trying to be a lot more

:13:41. > :13:44.proactive in the second serve return. That is making a massive

:13:45. > :13:50.difference because it is getting into Andy's head a little as well,

:13:51. > :13:57.putting him on the back foot. You feel Andy's desperation to get this

:13:58. > :14:04.job done. He knew he had an opportunity, Jo down but not out

:14:05. > :14:07.early in that first service game of the third set but he didn't

:14:08. > :14:09.capitalise, and all of a sudden he is expressing much more negative

:14:10. > :14:28.frustration. By 13 minutes, Andy Murray's longest

:14:29. > :14:39.match of The Championships so far. The first set he has lost. On a nine

:14:40. > :14:42.match winning streak with Queen's club and four matches here to get to

:14:43. > :15:59.this position. No need to panic, he is still two sets to one up.

:16:00. > :16:06.That is good positive body energy out here by Murray to start this

:16:07. > :16:07.fourth service game -- fourth set. It's what he needed to block out the

:16:08. > :16:35.end of that set. Tsonga has kept the ball to a

:16:36. > :16:44.difficult length to marry today. -- to marry today. Within a foot or two

:16:45. > :16:48.of the baseline after serving. Slightly uneven back there, it's one

:16:49. > :16:56.of the vagaries of playing on a grass court, into the second week of

:16:57. > :16:59.the Championships. Like a spin bowler on the fourth day of a Test

:17:00. > :17:09.match, just throwing it into the footmarks.

:17:10. > :17:20.His forehand, these exchanges are suiting Tsonga. He's really starting

:17:21. > :17:23.to put something on that forehand, make a serious impact in the head of

:17:24. > :18:01.Murray. Jo-Wilfried Tsonga went over there,

:18:02. > :18:07.and I hope he's all right. Yeah, he's OK. He didn't even know Andy

:18:08. > :18:12.checked on him and he now appreciates it!

:18:13. > :18:21.Fergus Murphy saying something, there.

:18:22. > :19:30.Another few loose forehand errors. Pulling back out of this one.

:19:31. > :20:07.he's hitting it hard enough to break it!

:20:08. > :21:03.And hour and ten minutes ago, he looked absolutely down and out. Two

:21:04. > :21:31.sets down. Haps an hour ago, even. Getting fired up, these two! A bit

:21:32. > :21:58.of tension between the two, as well. Keeping the crowd involved, Murray.

:21:59. > :22:14.His team know how important this game is, not to go down an early

:22:15. > :22:40.break here in the fourth set. That was a strong effort, really, by

:22:41. > :22:52.both guys. Tsonga really upping the pressure. That was well played. He

:22:53. > :22:59.knows a thing or two about survival, Bear Grylls on the left-hand side. I

:23:00. > :23:07.think he's on a stadium tour around now, going down a zip line through a

:23:08. > :23:12.ring of fire, breaking windows. They should have told him just go through

:23:13. > :23:19.the front door! His wife, there, thinks he ought to stop it! You've

:23:20. > :23:24.proved yourself enough! This is nice, the crowd enjoying this.

:23:25. > :23:34.She has worn her hands out, loving it so much.

:23:35. > :23:55.Something about his serve too, Murray has not had a lot of clean

:23:56. > :24:22.looks at returns especially in this third set.

:24:23. > :24:30.He is serving so much better again. He has found the big pace serve on

:24:31. > :24:41.the first serve and he is hit his spots extremely well with the

:24:42. > :24:43.slider. Down the T on the first serve. Setting it up for the

:24:44. > :26:45.forehand. He keeps hitting the ground with his

:26:46. > :26:49.racket. Fergus Murphy, in the umpire's check is having a good look

:26:50. > :26:53.at that. Enunwa players have been fined for this, even though they hit

:26:54. > :26:59.the ground outside the playing area. He is finding himself that far

:27:00. > :27:04.behind the baseline, he is being pushed back by Tsonga.

:27:05. > :27:20.It's the brute power from Tsonga but also the forehand crosscourt from

:27:21. > :27:21.Tsonga into the Murray forehand which is causing some serious

:27:22. > :27:24.issues. Him on the left. Shane on the right,

:27:25. > :28:19.physiotherapist. -- Kim. This is what we anticipated earlier

:28:20. > :28:22.in the match. How he is hitting it now, that is for sure. His

:28:23. > :28:32.confidence level is much higher than it was when we started.

:28:33. > :29:23.They have got their money 's worth today, that is for sure! His dad

:29:24. > :29:35.Willie Murray there. The man at the back

:29:36. > :29:42.takes care of some of his business affairs, a former player from Italy.

:29:43. > :29:46.Leon Smith there as well. These days you can't just have a coach or

:29:47. > :29:52.actually go it alone at all, can you? You need a thousand people with

:29:53. > :29:56.you! I do know about a thousand! But a lot of it is about taking away

:29:57. > :30:00.stresses, so these guys can go out then focus on they need to do. Novak

:30:01. > :30:04.has had it in place and Roger Federer has done it for so many

:30:05. > :30:11.years now. He just has do go out there and let his racket do the

:30:12. > :30:12.talking. You think you might be stressed, with that many people

:30:13. > :30:28.around. You have to delegate well. Andy looking at some of his notes in

:30:29. > :30:34.his bag at the change events. No doubt if and then the would be a big

:30:35. > :30:39.business expense but certainly an asset as well. -- no doubt Ivan

:30:40. > :30:45.Lendl would be a big business expense. This is the first moment

:30:46. > :30:52.where Murray has had real stress. It's been pretty plain sailing. I

:30:53. > :30:55.know Raonic in the final at Queen's, but this is Wimbledon, with respect

:30:56. > :31:01.to that wonderful tournament. This is the quarterfinal of Wimbledon.

:31:02. > :31:04.Murray thought he had this won but he certainly has not, yet.

:31:05. > :31:22.Jo-Wilfried Tsonga's nickname is Ali for obvious reasons. Perhaps he was

:31:23. > :31:29.doing the Roper dope for the first couple of sets.

:31:30. > :32:18.Stay down, he says. That has been the issue with the forehand.

:32:19. > :32:38.UMPIRE: Mr Tsonga challenging. Perfect serve.

:32:39. > :32:46.Another one he thinks might be flat... The temperature dipping. Can

:32:47. > :33:13.feel that way. Serving beautifully. Worst feeling as a player, struggled

:33:14. > :33:46.to hold, then your opponent hits bombs, hands you back the balls.

:33:47. > :33:57.Serious sprints there by Tsonga. One hander again. Trying to take Andy's

:33:58. > :36:00.head off! Concentration not good at the

:36:01. > :36:18.moment. Looked like he was going to have an easy hold. Loose points.

:36:19. > :36:25.Knuckle down, close the game out. Mr Murray challenging the call. That's

:36:26. > :36:54.good. Been at it, two hours 47 minutes.

:36:55. > :37:01.What do players do when they're waiting for a five setter? They

:37:02. > :37:09.would have gone through, taping of ankles, toes, all that preparation,

:37:10. > :37:19.possibly worsening to some music, sitting with coaches, going through

:37:20. > :37:24.the game plan, because that last March, got so close, even going

:37:25. > :37:34.through the warm up, wasting some energy. Some people talk, others

:37:35. > :37:41.want silence? Respect others? Obviously, everybody is different.

:37:42. > :37:53.You want to eat. Two, three, four hours before. Something enough. All

:37:54. > :38:01.of a sudden, stressed out. And you have got all these things, going

:38:02. > :38:12.through your mind. The locker room down there now, empty. Not a lot of

:38:13. > :38:23.people around. Just these guys, the guys on Court One as well. Had to

:38:24. > :39:19.wait. But a great show here. Deep in the fourth set. New balls.

:39:20. > :39:30.Keep it together mentally. But you get these lulls... This is a tricky

:39:31. > :39:50.moment for him. Again. That is the shot that brought

:39:51. > :39:57.GB the Davis Cup last year! The memorable lob over Goffin! This

:39:58. > :40:20.brings break points at a crucial time.

:40:21. > :40:38.Gutsy play. Second serve, serve-volley. First time in the

:40:39. > :40:59.match. 39th second serve! Three break points down!

:41:00. > :41:21.There it is! Break of serve. Know Murray, two games away. But it is

:41:22. > :41:51.not going to be easy. So much for new balls helping the server!

:41:52. > :41:59.Let's see how Jo responds. Handed that last game to Andy. Three cheap

:42:00. > :42:31.errors. And the great lob from Andy. He needed that. It looked bleak.

:42:32. > :43:20.Still is. But hope now. Challenge? Absolutely rifled past

:43:21. > :45:17.Tsonga but... Out. Second serve! What a change up,

:45:18. > :45:32.under pressure. Third break point down. Tsonga looking to run around.

:45:33. > :45:33.Went to the forehand side. He wasn't ready. That's backing yourself under

:45:34. > :46:15.pressure. Fabulous! Fantastic. What a backhand

:46:16. > :46:21.slice! From deep! That angle! Right here! Just exactly where he wanted

:46:22. > :47:45.it. Extraordinary physical power! But

:47:46. > :47:54.what a response! Beautiful response from deuce. When he hits, it stays

:47:55. > :48:03.hit! Hits as hard as anyone. Boy, did he need that. Flat inside out,

:48:04. > :48:18.you could see how much that ran from Murray. We thought he would fold, a

:48:19. > :48:24.break down. After that gutsy serve from Murray, you thought he might

:48:25. > :48:37.have had enough. Not a bit. Impressive. Approaching eight

:48:38. > :48:44.o'clock. The temperature goes down. How do the conditions change? It

:48:45. > :48:55.starts to get heavier, air thicker, cooler. Favours muscly players?

:48:56. > :49:04.Absolutely. Hit through the elements? Tailor made for Tsonga.

:49:05. > :49:43.Powerful hitters. Look like unforced errors but no

:49:44. > :49:51.such thing at this point. The pace, sheer power behind the Tsonga ground

:49:52. > :50:06.strokes, tough to handle on the racket. Especially on grass.

:50:07. > :50:13.Skidding through. Not always true bounce. Murray, trying to absorb

:50:14. > :51:24.that. Saw that forehand wasn't struck

:51:25. > :52:02.cleanly. Frame, slightly. Ripped it to shreds.

:52:03. > :53:10.Not enough on that return either. Cost him.

:53:11. > :53:14.Wasn't a great return but difference was got it to the backhand. Not

:53:15. > :53:41.nearly as dangerous. UMPIRE: Mr Tsonga challenging the

:53:42. > :54:00.call. If he's missed this... What happens? After? First serve.

:54:01. > :54:08.Nonsense! Making the point most players know the return wasn't

:54:09. > :54:29.affected. But them's the rules! Don't believe it. We've seen that

:54:30. > :54:38.half a dozen times! First set tie break. Weaker side. Days when these

:54:39. > :55:04.don't work. Somehow finds a way back. Fifth set?

:55:05. > :55:22.Really tough shots. Angle right here. The depth Murray hit the

:55:23. > :55:30.passing shot from! Nearly the back edge of the baseline!

:55:31. > :55:55.Oh! It was there! So was Tsonga and that was a wide target! 131 mph

:55:56. > :55:59.first serve. Trying to cut off the angle. There for the taking. What a

:56:00. > :56:36.game. Most of the time, he goes

:56:37. > :57:35.cross-court. But held it. Look how low.

:57:36. > :57:54.Impossible to hear... What was he saying? He thought it was called

:57:55. > :58:11.in!? Fabulous pass. Let's do it again. Really upset, Murray.

:58:12. > :58:24.Naturally. Closing in on a Wimbledon semi. Trying to.

:58:25. > :58:49.Hats off. Tsonga nothing he likes more than an audience. Thrilled them

:58:50. > :58:52.here. Somewhat begrudingly! Keep keynote, massive back turned,

:58:53. > :59:07.amazing stretch. Big time as you're going to see from

:59:08. > :00:06.Tsonga. Chip and charge, come in, that would

:00:07. > :01:26.have been a good time. Backed off. On fire right now. Massive backhand

:01:27. > :03:07.passes on the full run. Andy had him stretching everywhere. Great angle.

:03:08. > :03:24.Made that! Really not a big target! Footwork from Tsonga you couldn't

:03:25. > :03:33.have imagined two hours ago! Exhausted! Look at the physicality.

:03:34. > :04:01.What a turnaround. Made another one! Absolute feature

:04:02. > :04:09.of this match! Break. Tsonga serves to take us to a fifth. What a

:04:10. > :04:19.turnaround. What a match. Going nowhere on BBC One. If you're tuning

:04:20. > :04:28.in for Celebrity Masterchef, that's BBC Two. Things hotting up here.

:04:29. > :04:43.Murray coming out to save the fourth set. Tsonga serving for 2-2.

:04:44. > :04:55.Tension, drama all the way. Nothing particularly, from Tsonga's form

:04:56. > :04:59.this year to think that he could go all the way. Back from two sets

:05:00. > :05:13.down. He has done that before, against Roger Federer. The coming --

:05:14. > :05:29.becoming a believer. And then, Djokovic. Came back from 2-0. Jo

:05:30. > :05:55.looks fresher than ever. Who needs football? Good luck, Wales!

:05:56. > :06:27.On the left, Jo's partner. Of two years. Swiss.

:06:28. > :06:51.All working now for the Frenchman. Hold on, he wants to challenge. Not

:06:52. > :07:03.going to have this. Listen in. Body language. Nothing. You get us to

:07:04. > :07:15.challenge instantly! You have to do it immediately!

:07:16. > :07:24.We heard that before. The first to enforce it? Won't matter too much to

:07:25. > :07:44.Murray but it was in. That's the strength, to come back

:07:45. > :07:50.after an argument with the umpire and win a point like that, it's a

:07:51. > :08:40.message to your opponent, still in this game.

:08:41. > :09:20.This is amazing, it looked all but over. Heading to the fifth set.

:09:21. > :09:32.We are going the distance on Centre Court at Wimbledon. 8:07pm, is the

:09:33. > :09:39.time. We have time for it. Three hours plus so far. A one set shoot

:09:40. > :09:55.out, Murray against Tsonga for a place in the semifinal.

:09:56. > :10:05.Just couldn't have seen this as the likely outcome. The good news for

:10:06. > :10:08.Andy Murray, if there is any at the moment, Lleyton Hewitt, and I don't

:10:09. > :10:14.think records matter that much, but just for the record, a five match

:10:15. > :10:18.winning streak, a five set, five match winning streak for Andy

:10:19. > :10:27.Murray. Tsonga has come back from two sets town on a number of

:10:28. > :10:34.occasions. Were you aware of the fact Marin Cilic had never lost a

:10:35. > :10:40.match in a Grand Slam from 2-0 up? What are you saying about records?

:10:41. > :10:47.For Andy now, it's about recovering after being up a break in the fourth

:10:48. > :10:55.set and not closing it out. What decides the fifth set now, Lleyton?

:10:56. > :10:59.Obviously Jo-Wilfried Tsonga wants to keep momentum on his side. He's

:11:00. > :11:03.been doing the right things and wants to attack as much as possible.

:11:04. > :11:09.You want to keep holding serve and wait for your opportunity. You might

:11:10. > :11:14.only get one chance in this set are specially on a grass court. John

:11:15. > :11:19.McEnroe, if you are coaching, what would you say? In this position,

:11:20. > :11:24.it's virtually impossible to cope someone. He was playing so well. He

:11:25. > :11:31.has been around the block for a long time. Probably fortunate that for

:11:32. > :11:33.him at least, he gets to start off, get the lead again and build on

:11:34. > :11:45.that, as he did in the fourth set. STUDIO: What drama we are seen on

:11:46. > :11:50.Centre Court at the moment, and we will stay with it on BBC One.

:11:51. > :11:59.Everybody enjoying the drama at Wimbledon, on the court and on

:12:00. > :12:08.Henman Hill. If you are tuning in for Celebrity Masterchef, it's over

:12:09. > :12:19.on BBC Two. We are staying with Andy Murray, fighting for a place in the

:12:20. > :12:22.final four. COMMENTATOR: Slight advantage to Andy Murray, serving

:12:23. > :12:32.first. Hasn't lost to a player outside the top ten this year. In

:12:33. > :12:34.fact, since the US Open last year when he lost to Kevin Anderson.

:12:35. > :13:17.Doesn't want to start here on home turf.

:13:18. > :13:22.Worked hard, thick, fitter than this guy. Forced to pull out of Roland

:13:23. > :13:40.Garros, how fit can he possibly be? Has to fire himself up after bitter

:13:41. > :13:44.disappointment. He will also try to tell himself, some of those body

:13:45. > :13:48.blows and long points against Tsonga in the second and third sets, maybe

:13:49. > :13:50.that can turn things around in his favour if it goes deep into the

:13:51. > :14:22.fifth. You wouldn't know it by the way

:14:23. > :15:00.Tsonga is moving right now. You would think at this stage, I

:15:01. > :15:02.would start work in the backhand a little bit. Yeah, this is a mental

:15:03. > :15:21.battle now. UMPIRE: Mr Murray challenging the

:15:22. > :15:32.call. Ball was called out. UMPIRE: Mr Murray has two challenges

:15:33. > :17:07.remaining. Curls that round the corner. Curved

:17:08. > :17:09.into the side. Looked as good as the ones he has been hitting on the

:17:10. > :18:42.backhand. Absolutely amazing day here on

:18:43. > :18:49.Centre Court. Good game to win! That's true also. Mentioning Andy

:18:50. > :18:53.Murray's five match, five set winning streak. He knows how to play

:18:54. > :19:02.when everything is on the line. Tsonga, he has won all six of his

:19:03. > :19:13.five set matches here at Wimbledon. How big will that game be? Tsonga,

:19:14. > :19:16.half slipping and putting him out of position for the backhand. Keeping

:19:17. > :19:49.his nose in front in the fifth. Two tremendous athletes just going

:19:50. > :20:19.at it big time here. Admirably, Tsonga is ready to serve

:20:20. > :20:25.within the allotted time. Definitely trying to get some air in the lungs.

:20:26. > :20:31.This is one of those times to go for an ace.

:20:32. > :20:47.What a response. The big forehand again.

:20:48. > :22:23.Two "Come ons" in the last four points.

:22:24. > :22:35.What a great round, the return of serve. Then the backhand down the

:22:36. > :22:40.line. Ivan Lendl will love that. He had the courage here to take on the

:22:41. > :22:44.other forehand. He leaned into the backhand so well down the line. If

:22:45. > :22:45.he hadn't hit perfect, Tsonga would have been there with the open

:22:46. > :23:16.cross-court forehand. And that's the break! What a return!

:23:17. > :23:24.Just bounding around the place. Who would have thought, three and a half

:23:25. > :23:32.hours in? One of the best returns you will ever see.

:23:33. > :23:48.I love how fired up he's getting. I know I do.

:23:49. > :24:36.Jo-Wilfried Tsonga doesn't have too many shots left in him. The last

:24:37. > :24:39.time Murray broke, he went up in the third set. Has been broken twice

:24:40. > :25:04.back again. UMPIRE: Mr Murray challenging the

:25:05. > :25:10.call. Ball was called out. Since the first set he looks like he's been

:25:11. > :25:12.running uphill, battling back, fighting, and he will have to do it

:25:13. > :25:44.again. Mr Murray has one challenge

:25:45. > :25:49.remaining. Quite early in the set to just have one challenge remaining.

:25:50. > :26:22.We will see if that becomes a factor.

:26:23. > :26:29.He knows how important this would be. First break point of the fifth

:26:30. > :26:30.set, able to play some of his best tennis to break, and now to

:26:31. > :27:00.consolidate. This wonderful French player, he

:27:01. > :27:40.will not go away. You see Murray off the court, it's not an easy cover.

:27:41. > :27:49.Once again, the battles in this set have been won by Murray. So much

:27:50. > :27:54.dust and chalk there, almost choked Murray before he hit his forehand.

:27:55. > :28:00.He has found his forehand again here. Was able to put Tsonga on the

:28:01. > :28:30.back foot. Are we having fun yet? I'm having

:28:31. > :28:35.fun. Have we ever seen Murray this consistently fired up in a match?

:28:36. > :28:39.This is pretty amazing. It's ever since Ivan Lendl... I know we go on

:28:40. > :28:50.about coaches and everything else, but as soon as Lendl showed up,

:28:51. > :28:57.Murray has called him the best coach, and from the first match

:28:58. > :29:01.against Mahut, the Frenchman at Queen's Club, he has been much more

:29:02. > :29:06.positive. We have questioned him in the past, that he can get negative

:29:07. > :29:13.on himself. The Davis Cup matches against Simon last year, against

:29:14. > :29:20.Nishikori, five sets. He's having a good time in his life. Laid-back,

:29:21. > :29:28.happy, playing great. This could be the start of something big,

:29:29. > :29:36.consistent. Anyone listening who doesn't do that, we encourage this.

:29:37. > :29:39.Thanks to this guy, who has brought out the best in Andy Murray, he has

:29:40. > :29:50.played extremely well and fought hard. Somehow, he's got to find

:29:51. > :29:55.another gear. Well, here's an opportunity, this game right here,

:29:56. > :29:58.for Andy Murray to put a stop to all this. A second break would knock the

:29:59. > :31:25.stuffing out of the Frenchman. Becoming more and more aggressive

:31:26. > :32:54.off the turn. UMPIRE: Mr Tsonga is challenging the

:32:55. > :33:15.call. The ball was called out. Who knows was out. -- who knows if

:33:16. > :33:22.it was out. He certainly does not want to go down a double break.

:33:23. > :34:03.UMPIRE: Mr Tsonga has two challenges remaining.

:34:04. > :34:09.After what happened in the second set, he let it slip. Up two breaks

:34:10. > :34:34.of serve, but no margin now. We're going to have to sack reverse.

:34:35. > :35:00.-- Rufus. Actually, don't tell Rufus, he will get cross.

:35:01. > :35:14.Flattening out that backhands, driving it into the corner. He is

:35:15. > :35:22.back in the so well in this fifth set. Great depth on that approach

:35:23. > :35:32.shot. You could certainly call this a match point.

:35:33. > :35:49.Up two breaks. A victory for willpower. UMPIRE: New balls,

:35:50. > :35:55.please. Thinking back to that first game, Lleyton. The first game was

:35:56. > :36:04.all about the missed opportunities in the first set. 6-5 up in that

:36:05. > :36:08.first set, serving. -- first tie-break, serving. He did not look

:36:09. > :36:15.like that when he first turned up here. A little boy who lost to

:36:16. > :37:12.number on the on this court. -- Nalbandian.

:37:13. > :37:38.Beautifully done. Shutting Tsonga down here. Just coming around the

:37:39. > :38:11.edge. Wonderful feel. First serve's -- UMPIRE: Lead, first serve.

:38:12. > :38:15.Make your opponents play one more ball. Even Lendl looks more relaxed

:38:16. > :38:34.now. A raised arm, even though he has not

:38:35. > :38:41.got the job done. That is not disrespectful to his opponent. Just

:38:42. > :38:51.signifies the effort in this set that has taken him to 5-0. Just gone

:38:52. > :38:55.25 to nine in the evening and outside, 50,000 people have not

:38:56. > :39:04.moved. Very few have gone home and that is not surprising. Loyal tennis

:39:05. > :39:11.fans. And I saw some people they are running this morning, when it opened

:39:12. > :39:20.at 10:30am. Those people by the water, down to lean back. You asked

:39:21. > :39:23.before the fifth set, if you were in a position to give Murray a couple

:39:24. > :39:29.of words of advice, just think about what he did. He came out with some

:39:30. > :39:45.really intense positive energy, he used the crowd, he fired himself up.

:39:46. > :40:29.He reached a crescendo. Like a work of art. Exactly.

:40:30. > :40:37.I have been impressed with the drop shot all day by both guys. Both guys

:40:38. > :40:39.lightening quick, especially moving forward. And they have played this

:40:40. > :41:58.one to perfection. Showing a little bit of fatigue

:41:59. > :42:01.himself, Lendl, at the end of the fifth set. Watching Murray search

:42:02. > :42:54.for a place in the semifinals. Up unfortunately given in. --

:42:55. > :43:34.unfortunately given in. Almost four hours. On his way, again, to a semi.

:43:35. > :43:44.UMPIRE: Game, set and match, Andy Murray. Another triumph on Centre

:43:45. > :43:50.Court for Andy Murray, a five set marathon. True respect between two

:43:51. > :43:57.great competitors. 8:42pm, nearly four hours of tennis. 6-1 in the

:43:58. > :44:03.fifth, a seventh semifinal at Wimbledon for Andy Murray. The

:44:04. > :44:22.favourites to win the championship this year. For most.

:44:23. > :44:29.Murray has played better than anyone else in this event. A great round of

:44:30. > :44:39.applause for Jo-Wilfried Tsonga. Deservedly so.

:44:40. > :44:48.He made Andy Murray come up with his best tennis out here. He had chances

:44:49. > :44:53.even early in the fifth set. Break point in the first game of the fifth

:44:54. > :44:54.set. You could look back, but that is perhaps for another time. Great

:44:55. > :45:08.entertainment. Tsonga had not lost a five set match

:45:09. > :45:17.at Wimbledon. Six in a row, but not this time. Murray has now won his

:45:18. > :45:24.last 65 set matches. That is the competitive spirit. And no Tomas

:45:25. > :45:32.Berdych lies ahead for him. And he has not lost on him since 2013. That

:45:33. > :45:35.is a pretty good effort for Jo to hang around and do all these sorts

:45:36. > :45:45.of things because that was a big match. A 20th Grand Slams semifinal,

:45:46. > :45:49.five years worth. His seventh time at Wimbledon and only once has he

:45:50. > :46:00.gone on, of course, to triumph at the biggest tournament of the world.

:46:01. > :46:04.That was in 2013. No Novak Djokavic but Roger Federer survived today.

:46:05. > :46:09.Will that be Sunday's final? Lot of work to be done. Two semifinals

:46:10. > :46:16.before we see that repeat of the 2012 final. And the Olympic final,

:46:17. > :46:24.as well, on this very court. 6-1 in the fifth. We need to get the view

:46:25. > :46:28.from Andy Murray. Almost four hours of tennis, through to your seventh

:46:29. > :46:32.Wimbledon semifinal. How are the emotions after that battle?

:46:33. > :46:37.Obviously it was a tough match. At the end of the fourth set, it was

:46:38. > :46:45.really tough, losing 4-2 after breaking and coming back from 0-40,

:46:46. > :46:50.to lose that set 6-4, it was hard. But I just tried to use all of my

:46:51. > :46:53.energy at the beginning of the fifth set to get myself up and try to get

:46:54. > :46:59.the crowd pumped up. It had been a long day for them with some long

:47:00. > :47:04.matches. Thankfully I got the break. You dominated the second set and on

:47:05. > :47:08.till today you have not dropped a set at Wimbledon. What happened in

:47:09. > :47:13.the third and fourth? Tsonga is a pretty good player. He is not bad.

:47:14. > :47:16.He is one of the best grass court players in the world. He came up

:47:17. > :47:20.with some great shots. Some unbelievable passing shots on the

:47:21. > :47:27.run, and big moments. He started better. He mixed it up well. Credit

:47:28. > :47:33.to him for fighting his way back into the match. He played extremely

:47:34. > :47:38.well after that first set. It was a tough one to lose, but he fought

:47:39. > :47:44.really hard, write to the end, and it was a great match. He has won all

:47:45. > :47:52.of his five setters here. How crucial was it to get that break in

:47:53. > :47:54.the fifth set? Crucial to break at some point. No tie-break in the

:47:55. > :47:57.fifth and so it has to happen at some point if you want to win.

:47:58. > :48:02.Hopefully I got it at the beginning of the fifth and I managed to get a

:48:03. > :48:07.second one which was big. It takes away a lot of the pressure at the

:48:08. > :48:10.end there. I know Wimbledon is so special to you, can you give us an

:48:11. > :48:16.insight into how the pressure increases the deeper you get into

:48:17. > :48:20.this? Any of the Slams, really, when you get to the final stages you want

:48:21. > :48:25.to play your best tennis and try to win the event. At the beginning, you

:48:26. > :48:28.were just trying to work your way through the early rounds and

:48:29. > :48:33.hopefully play some good tennis, and not use up too much energy, but now

:48:34. > :48:36.it is about just getting through the matches and ideally playing as well

:48:37. > :48:41.as possible. I am happy to be through to the semis and I hope to

:48:42. > :48:44.get some rest before the next one. Tomas Berdych next, you have a good

:48:45. > :48:49.record with him but you have not played on grass. How tough a

:48:50. > :48:53.semifinal opponent will he be for you? Very tough. He has been to the

:48:54. > :48:59.final here, he has beaten Djokovic and Federer and he is very good. He

:49:00. > :49:05.has won some tough matches here, a tough battle in the fourth round

:49:06. > :49:08.against Jiri Vesely, and he will be feeling comfortable on the court

:49:09. > :49:12.having played a lot of tennis. Centre Court has seen some

:49:13. > :49:17.incredible tennis today and you certainly contributed to that.

:49:18. > :49:20.Thanks, Andy. SUE BARKER: Memories of that match against Fernando

:49:21. > :49:25.Verdasco back in 2013 where he had to dig deep and come back to win it

:49:26. > :49:29.in five sets. He had to do the same today. It looks like he was booed at

:49:30. > :49:33.a two sets, but Tsonga is such a great fighter and he came back.

:49:34. > :49:38.Inspirational play from the Frenchman. Andy had to dig deep and

:49:39. > :49:43.find a way to win in that fifth and final set. The first few games,

:49:44. > :49:47.crucial for staying in front. We know that he is so strong physically

:49:48. > :49:51.but mentally he had to battle out on Centre Court. But what a day they

:49:52. > :49:55.have had here on the hallowed turf of Centre Court. Two outstanding

:49:56. > :50:04.matches, and Andy Murray is through to the last four. Well, they have a

:50:05. > :50:08.lot to talk about as they head home. So much wonderful tennis that they

:50:09. > :50:14.have enjoyed and we now know that the semifinals here at Wimbledon, in

:50:15. > :50:18.the top half of the draw, it is Milos Raonic, who came through in

:50:19. > :50:24.his match in four sets up against Roger Federer, who had to battle so

:50:25. > :50:28.hard, coming back from two sets to love down against Marin Cilic. And

:50:29. > :50:35.Tomas Berdych, taking an Andy Murray. We cannot leave without a

:50:36. > :50:43.little bit of further reaction from our commentators, Lleyton Hewitt,

:50:44. > :50:48.John McEnroe and Andrew Castle. How much did you enjoy watching that,

:50:49. > :50:52.Lleyton? It was amazing. To see at first hand, it was an awesome match.

:50:53. > :50:58.The momentum swung throughout. Andy had to dig deep to get out of the

:50:59. > :51:05.first set. He was found at it with an early break, and you thought it

:51:06. > :51:09.was on cruise control when he was two sets up. But to Tsonga's credit,

:51:10. > :51:13.he fought hard to put himself into that position and he had break point

:51:14. > :51:16.in the first game of the fifth. Andy Murray had to dig deep to pull

:51:17. > :51:20.through and he turned the momentum around in his favour. The quality of

:51:21. > :51:27.the tennis at times was just outstanding. The quality of the

:51:28. > :51:32.whole day has been amazing. Mary played some fantastic tennis. But my

:51:33. > :51:35.favourite part in the match was the energy he brought to the fifth set,

:51:36. > :51:39.a pumped up he was and how much he brought the crowd into it and

:51:40. > :51:42.expressed himself. I thought that was awesome and I would love to see

:51:43. > :51:46.him do it more in the future. I think he would be tougher to beat if

:51:47. > :51:50.he did it more and it would be better for tennis. I would recommend

:51:51. > :51:57.all players out there do that more often. It is wonderful. But he did

:51:58. > :52:03.have to fight is demons a little bit, didn't see? He was beginning to

:52:04. > :52:06.do what he has in the past, a little bit of negative self talk which has

:52:07. > :52:11.not produced the best tennis for him in the past. But it was about the

:52:12. > :52:16.tennis and the willpower. He was leaping up and down, broadcasting

:52:17. > :52:21.such positive messages, to the end of the court. Saying, you are not

:52:22. > :52:25.going to beat me, you are not. And I think this determination, based on

:52:26. > :52:29.the work that he has done, it is a fantastic example to people. I have

:52:30. > :52:33.said before, I think he is Britain's most eminent sports person at the

:52:34. > :52:40.moment and I stick with that. When he wins Wimbledon on Sunday, I will

:52:41. > :52:46.expect apologies. Don't get ahead of yourself, Mr Kassel. That fifth set

:52:47. > :52:52.at Wimbledon, how do you cope with it, when you have had chances and

:52:53. > :52:56.suddenly it is two sets all. What do you say to yourself? It is easier to

:52:57. > :53:00.say them to do. He had to block it out. He was serving first in the

:53:01. > :53:05.fifth set, and that was why that first game was so crucial, to keep

:53:06. > :53:09.in the lead. He had not been behind for the whole match as we did not

:53:10. > :53:13.want to let that happen. I think he handled it extremely well. He got

:53:14. > :53:19.the crowd involved and as soon as he got the opportunity to break serve,

:53:20. > :53:24.he bolted on home. And let's salute Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, who played his

:53:25. > :53:28.part. Some inspirational tennis. Jo played great but unfortunately for

:53:29. > :53:31.him when he needed to, he got down that one break. He had a break point

:53:32. > :53:36.chance and you cannot let someone like Andy Murray get a second break.

:53:37. > :53:39.That was all she had wrote. That was where he slipped up and that is

:53:40. > :53:47.where it happened in the second set. To me, that is, when you look at

:53:48. > :53:52.Tsonga, he has the mental talent but he does not have the mental

:53:53. > :53:55.strength. And physically, you have to salute Murray, the amount of

:53:56. > :54:01.miles he was running out there, and still at full speed right at the

:54:02. > :54:06.end. Absolutely. He wants to turn all of the matches into that match

:54:07. > :54:08.because physically, there are not many players that can go the

:54:09. > :54:12.distance in five sets. It is a good wake-up call for him. He has cruised

:54:13. > :54:17.through the tournament so far, and he has had a tough one to survive.

:54:18. > :54:20.Only two more matches to go and he will be very focused on Tomas

:54:21. > :54:24.Berdych in the next round. He will be feeling really relieved now.

:54:25. > :54:28.There is only one person he does not want it to turn into a long five

:54:29. > :54:34.setter and that guy is not on the tournament. He is on holiday. We

:54:35. > :54:39.want to show a little bit of Roger Federer because that was a fantastic

:54:40. > :54:46.match. They sing match points against Marin Cilic, and here we are

:54:47. > :54:49.at 5-4. Talk us through a little bit of this if you can see it on your

:54:50. > :54:57.monitor. How crucial was this part of the match? Well, that goes

:54:58. > :55:03.without saying. It was a tough serve from Federer, and you cannot ask for

:55:04. > :55:07.any more than that. But Marin Cilic, he really should have won that match

:55:08. > :55:13.in three sets. He was playing fantastic and then he had another

:55:14. > :55:18.look. Going up the centre of the court, Roger saved a bunch of break

:55:19. > :55:23.points, and once this crowd got into it, it really helped Federer in the

:55:24. > :55:26.end. But Roger Federer, that was one of the all-time comebacks I have

:55:27. > :55:32.ever seen here at Wimbledon. He was able to steal the win. And Cilic was

:55:33. > :55:37.just playing so well, with big serves, Federer was on the run. He

:55:38. > :55:41.could not even read his server for the first two. He was playing as

:55:42. > :55:44.well as he has ever played here at Wimbledon. With those guys with such

:55:45. > :55:48.big groundstrokes and so much firepower out there behind the

:55:49. > :55:52.service, it is so tough because you only get a couple of opportunities

:55:53. > :55:57.throughout the match. But Roger Federer, he never disappoints. The

:55:58. > :56:03.bad news is for everybody else that he is playing himself into form. He

:56:04. > :56:06.said he thought he might be out in the first week, which is very

:56:07. > :56:11.self-deprecating because no one else thought that he would be. The

:56:12. > :56:16.trouble is, he is playing himself into form and that is the exact sort

:56:17. > :56:19.of match, when you're hitting those second serves, he is now tight and I

:56:20. > :56:28.believe he has beaten Murray five times in a row. You are getting

:56:29. > :56:33.ahead of yourself again, Mr Castle. For Roger Federer, at the age of 34,

:56:34. > :56:37.to still have that drive and passion, to be able to produce that

:56:38. > :56:42.tennis at those crucial times, it is just incredible. I have said many

:56:43. > :56:46.times, the thing that I admire about him is how much he loves to be out

:56:47. > :56:50.on that tennis court. If there was one thing I could have taken from

:56:51. > :57:01.Roger Federer it is his actual joyride Aviv, as they say in France,

:57:02. > :57:06.because he is so competitive. -- joie de vivre, as they say in

:57:07. > :57:09.France. I do not think he was feeling 100% physically for a good

:57:10. > :57:13.part of that match. He looked better physically at the end than he did at

:57:14. > :57:20.the beginning. I don't know how he does it! But your guy did it, Milos

:57:21. > :57:25.Raonic was out on Court number one and did you see a lot of that? I did

:57:26. > :57:28.not see a lot of that. But the type of tennis that he played against

:57:29. > :57:33.Roger Federer today, that would be the type of tennis that Milos Raonic

:57:34. > :57:39.will bring to the table when he plays against Roger Federer. He

:57:40. > :57:46.wants to try as much as he can to take Roger Federer's magic wand out

:57:47. > :57:50.of his hands. And this was against Sam Querrey, a big server. Not only

:57:51. > :58:01.did he serve well, he returned well. He has this incredible coach... All

:58:02. > :58:04.of a sudden, he has had a great team before, and the best match I ever

:58:05. > :58:10.saw him play was down in Australia earlier this year. He was up two

:58:11. > :58:14.sets against Andy Murray in the semifinals. But he was not able to

:58:15. > :58:21.get it done. He has worked incredibly hard and he is a great

:58:22. > :58:32.young man. He is dangerous. If you are going to make a breakthrough,

:58:33. > :58:38.you might as well do it against the best. How do you expect him to do

:58:39. > :58:43.against Federer? He played the best I have seen him move earlier this

:58:44. > :58:48.year and I think he has taken that now onto the grass court. He has

:58:49. > :58:50.such a dangerous game, not just his serve but his forehand. He is

:58:51. > :58:55.learning to move better coming forward into the net and that adds

:58:56. > :58:58.another dimension to the game. Against Roger, even if he is a

:58:59. > :59:03.little fatigued, it is not going to be the kind of battle, because there

:59:04. > :59:07.will be a lot of shorter points. I am looking forward to that match.

:59:08. > :59:17.And you have told them that he has to impose himself, he has to be a

:59:18. > :59:22.bit more. He is a young man and he should love the fact that he is owed

:59:23. > :59:27.on that courts. I would encourage him to express himself. -- out on

:59:28. > :59:31.that court. Particularly like Andy Murray in the fifth set. Have you

:59:32. > :59:36.enjoyed your day on Centre Court? It does not get any better. Can we have

:59:37. > :59:40.dinner now? That would be nice. And you, too. What about the day you

:59:41. > :59:46.have had?! We started at 12:30am and it has been a long one. I would not

:59:47. > :59:50.have missed it for the world. That is it. Andy Murray is through. He

:59:51. > :59:53.will face Tomas Berdych over on Court number one. What a day people

:59:54. > :59:57.have had on Centre Court, one of the greatest tennis days in the

:59:58. > :00:00.championship's history. And Andy Murray was pushed to the brink but

:00:01. > :00:06.he came through in five sets. I hope you enjoyed it as much as we did.

:00:07. > :00:10.Well done, Andy Murray. Bye-bye. It is quarterfinal stage and it is an

:00:11. > :00:20.absolutely cracking line-up. Getting his engine running here. He has got

:00:21. > :00:26.the ball on a string. He has not lost a set at this championship yet.
