:00:51. > :01:01.Create a visualisation. A process whereby negative images that
:01:02. > :01:05.provoked negative feelings are substituted by those that elicit
:01:06. > :01:09.positivity. COMMENTATOR: He's making his way up
:01:10. > :01:14.to the players box. I've never seen anything like this before. Today,
:01:15. > :01:21.four men face off in different matches with different views of the
:01:22. > :01:28.future. For Canadian Milos Raonic, his vision is reaching a first ever
:01:29. > :01:32.Grand Slam final. Czech Tomas Berdych knows what it's like to lose
:01:33. > :01:39.a Wimbledon final. His motivation is to take the next step and win one.
:01:40. > :01:45.Andy Murray was the Wimbledon champion in 2013. In his mind's eye,
:01:46. > :01:49.a second title is the aim. And for Roger Federer, seven times champion
:01:50. > :02:03.here, the vision is an eighth triumph. Visualisation is over. Now
:02:04. > :02:08.it's back to reality. Time for the hard part.
:02:09. > :02:17.Our very own Zen master, Pat Cash, getting in the zone there, with the
:02:18. > :02:20.1987 champion highlighting that the difference between winning and
:02:21. > :02:25.losing is as much mental as it is physical. Who will have the strength
:02:26. > :02:28.today remains to be seen. Good afternoon. Today is always a tense
:02:29. > :02:33.and nerve wracking day as the players know they are only two wins
:02:34. > :02:40.away from the greatest prize in tennis. We started with 128 players
:02:41. > :02:46.going for glory last Monday, but by tonight only two will be left, from
:02:47. > :02:50.these two matches. First up is Roger Federer, the Swiss master has won
:02:51. > :02:55.seven titles here and is looking for a record eighth. In his
:02:56. > :02:59.quarterfinal, he rolled back the years coming from two sets down to
:03:00. > :03:05.reach his 11 semifinal. Federer's record here is incredible. He's
:03:06. > :03:09.never lost a Wimbledon semifinal. The question is, can he continue
:03:10. > :03:14.that record today? They sing the force of Federer is this man, Milos
:03:15. > :03:18.Raonic. The big serving Canadian is coached by John McEnroe and, like
:03:19. > :03:24.his opponent, has come back here from being two sets down. He's
:03:25. > :03:29.quiet, calm and uncomplicated, but a player you just cannot
:03:30. > :03:33.underestimate. The second semifinal involves Tomas Berdych. The man from
:03:34. > :03:38.the Czech Republic has a game for grass and has proved that on his day
:03:39. > :03:43.he can beat anyone on his specialist surface. He reached the final in
:03:44. > :03:48.2010 but found Rafael Nadal too good. He has a steely disposition on
:03:49. > :03:56.court which lets his racket do the talking. Up against Berdych is
:03:57. > :03:59.Britain's Andy Murray. The 2013 champion came through an epic five
:04:00. > :04:04.set match against Jo-Wilfried Tsonga on Wednesday. How much that has
:04:05. > :04:07.taken out of him remains to be seen. But Murray is the highest ranked
:04:08. > :04:12.player left in the draw and is the favourite. A win today would put him
:04:13. > :04:17.in a third Wimbledon final and a third successive Grand Slam final in
:04:18. > :04:23.2016. Here is how this fantastic Friday looks. First up on Centre
:04:24. > :04:29.Court, Federer against Raonic, then Berdych against Murray. What an
:04:30. > :04:34.atmosphere it promises to be. As far as Andy Murray supporters are
:04:35. > :04:38.concerned, there is an air of expectation too. Earlier this
:04:39. > :04:42.morning, Andy was out on court. The fans packed around that court to
:04:43. > :04:47.watch their hero go through his final practice session before the
:04:48. > :04:51.semifinal. Jamie Delgado, one of his coaches, in the background. Van
:04:52. > :05:00.-- Ivan Lendl there as well. He has certainly proved that he is the
:05:01. > :05:04.favourite and he is playing well. But you cannot underestimate this
:05:05. > :05:07.man. He's been coming through the draw quietly but he has beaten
:05:08. > :05:14.Djokovic and Federer here and he has a big game. That is Murray against
:05:15. > :05:19.Berdych later this afternoon. Before we head to Centre Court and everyone
:05:20. > :05:24.watching the action unfold on Henman Hill, let's find out about the
:05:25. > :05:31.weather and if we're going to have it dry all day. Bring us some good
:05:32. > :05:38.news, Carol. Good news, it should stay dry all day. Henman Hill is
:05:39. > :05:42.jam-packed, not a square inch left. Brollies can stay down. Some areas
:05:43. > :05:47.of cloud coming across at times and that bridge will be about 22, and
:05:48. > :05:53.when the sun comes back out we're looking at about 24 and light
:05:54. > :05:57.breezes. Tomorrow morning we're looking -- tomorrow morning will
:05:58. > :06:01.start off cloudy but that will push away by around 11. Like today it is
:06:02. > :06:05.an improving picture with bright spells and sunny skies and
:06:06. > :06:09.temperatures into the low to mid 20s depending on the amount of cloud
:06:10. > :06:13.cover we have and if we have sunny skies. On Sunday there is the risk
:06:14. > :06:18.of rain in the morning but that will clear, leaving some showers behind.
:06:19. > :06:23.It will be breezy rather than blustery on Sunday, so that is a
:06:24. > :06:27.change in the forecast. It will also feel fresher. I do know about you
:06:28. > :06:31.but I'm looking forward to lots and lots of brilliant tennis! Yes and I
:06:32. > :06:35.don't think we will need the roof either! We will be heading off to
:06:36. > :06:41.Centre Court in a moment, but don't forget if you can't watch the
:06:42. > :06:47.matches live on TV today, you can download the apps and watch on your
:06:48. > :06:50.mobile device. If you can't access a computer or laptop, you can listen
:06:51. > :07:01.to five live commentary. Wherever you are, you can be across today's
:07:02. > :07:07.matches. We are going to Centre Court for Milos Raonic against Roger
:07:08. > :07:12.Federer. Raonic Rog Federer and that big forehand has sealed the first
:07:13. > :07:18.set X games to three. Federer in a fight again here on Centre Court, as
:07:19. > :07:23.Raonic goes up one set in this match. That happened a short while
:07:24. > :07:30.ago and as we join it, it is one game all. They have both held serve.
:07:31. > :07:31.The commentators, Raonic's coach John McEnroe, alongside Andrew
:07:32. > :08:15.Cotter. ANDREW COTTER: Oh! Swing and a miss
:08:16. > :08:24.from Raonic, and a hold for Federer. A half smile on the face of Milos
:08:25. > :08:34.Raonic. JOHN MCENROE: that happened to Federer at the end of a Raonic
:08:35. > :08:39.service game. By the end of two weeks of play you see bad hops more
:08:40. > :08:47.often. It came right off the line, maybe it held up. For whatever
:08:48. > :08:56.reason, he completely wiffed on it. So embarrassing to have that happen
:08:57. > :09:00.on a second serve. He can take a quick look at the scoreboard and
:09:01. > :09:06.say, I have actually won the first set against this great champion.
:09:07. > :09:16.Yes, a reminder, seven times the champion, Roger Federer. Five in a
:09:17. > :09:19.row from 03-07. He is looking to make his third successive final, but
:09:20. > :09:23.he has come up against Djokovic in the final in the last two successive
:09:24. > :09:59.years. APPLAUSE
:10:00. > :10:05.Is imposing himself there, Milos Raonic. Federer looked as if he
:10:06. > :10:10.didn't quite know what to do with the last shot. The ball doesn't sit
:10:11. > :10:14.up high enough for him to take a big swing at it, so he just had to thank
:10:15. > :10:26.at it. Raonic hits a good drop volley. Very effective shot on this
:10:27. > :10:40.court. It doesn't sit up as much as it would on a hard court.
:10:41. > :10:50.APPLAUSE And the serve and volley works again
:10:51. > :10:57.for Raonic. That is a recipe for a lot of players, to pull them off the
:10:58. > :11:02.court. The other player gets desperate and tries for something to
:11:03. > :11:09.big and you are closing in on that like he was there.
:11:10. > :11:19.Trying to keep Federer from getting a rhythm.
:11:20. > :11:29.APPLAUSE Well, in fact it from Milos Raonic.
:11:30. > :11:35.Able to go for that second serve therewith a bit of a comfort zone.
:11:36. > :11:43.-- emphatic. You would be foolish to think that he is not far more than
:11:44. > :11:47.just a big serve. He's had a big tournament moving forward at net.
:11:48. > :11:48.He's got a huge forehand. The backhand, he's getting more
:11:49. > :12:11.confidence with. Well, the longest rally so far.
:12:12. > :13:02.Raonic fails at the last. APPLAUSE
:13:03. > :13:12.Rock-solid service game from Roger Federer.
:13:13. > :13:26.His wife among those applauding. Huge support for Federer here. A lot
:13:27. > :13:29.of people out on the hill, many of them watching for Andy Murray
:13:30. > :13:40.against Tomas Berdych. That to follow this one. A big crowd once
:13:41. > :13:45.again on Henman Hill. A big hello to everyone. The first point of that
:13:46. > :13:49.game was the type of point that Raonic doesn't want to play against
:13:50. > :13:52.Federer. Do not get into extended rallies, do not give him believe, do
:13:53. > :14:13.not let him push you around. You can see that Federer is starting
:14:14. > :14:15.to find his game a bit. That is why you have to play this on your own
:14:16. > :14:30.terms, if you are Milos Raonic. As well for Federer, five sets
:14:31. > :14:34.against Marin Cilic would probably be a longer and more arduous test
:14:35. > :15:02.than against Raonic. They should be shorter points in this match.
:15:03. > :15:16.APPLAUSE Raonic has served tremendously well.
:15:17. > :15:22.70% first serves in for the match so far.
:15:23. > :15:34.Yes, and 70% of first serves at that speed. This is major hit he's
:15:35. > :16:06.purring at you. Again, when you are 40-0, you can go
:16:07. > :16:12.for a bigger second serve. The thing with Raonic is that he doesn't just
:16:13. > :16:38.do that at 40-0! He's got a lot of belief, as he should, in that serve.
:16:39. > :17:04.We're not going to show a replay? He's trying to hang onto it. We will
:17:05. > :17:26.pretend he caught it, great catch! That is a risky move for any player
:17:27. > :17:39.these days, coming in on that second serve.
:17:40. > :17:44.APPLAUSE Great work from Federer at the net
:17:45. > :17:58.again. Nicely set up by that approach shot.
:17:59. > :18:15.Progressive exchange, Raonic battling from behind.
:18:16. > :18:36.No question he's better off going for it and keeping these points
:18:37. > :18:52.short, as he did there. That will be the best backhand he has hit so far.
:18:53. > :19:04.APPLAUSE Well, a clench of the fist from
:19:05. > :19:19.Federer. He is digging in, here. Being tested once again on serve.
:19:20. > :19:47.50% for the match, first serves. Big hold for Federer.
:19:48. > :19:55.We know his skill and talents, but character as well. 15-30 turns into
:19:56. > :20:11.a hold of serve. He had a good look at two second
:20:12. > :20:17.serves in a row. One at 15-30, ripped it wide. The one at 30-30 was
:20:18. > :20:20.when he tightened up. You see that kick, as a player you know it's
:20:21. > :20:28.going to go to your left a little bit. He didn't prepare enough for
:20:29. > :20:35.it, got a little stuck at the front. Talking about his injury, torn
:20:36. > :20:42.ministers just after his defeat to Djokovic in the Australian Open. --
:20:43. > :20:46.miniscus. In recent years those injuries have been creeping in. He
:20:47. > :20:52.had an ongoing back problem, as most tennis players sportsmen do. He has
:20:53. > :20:56.often delayed an operation. He feels any operation would be the beginning
:20:57. > :21:00.of the end of things. Again, it's about managing his career at this
:21:01. > :21:14.stage. It's pretty amazing he's gone this far. Clearly hoping to try to
:21:15. > :21:22.hang in another year, couple of years, get more major titles.
:21:23. > :21:28.Charles Dance, there, argue a Game of Thrones fan? It's a bit violent!
:21:29. > :21:47.It is. Tywin Lannister. APPLAUSE
:21:48. > :21:50.That is a beautiful low return. You know he's going to try and slice it
:21:51. > :22:09.into your feet, there. APPLAUSE
:22:10. > :22:11.Systematically and clinically going about his work at the moment,
:22:12. > :22:39.Raonic. A great service game from Raonic.
:22:40. > :22:46.The new balls, the serves were coming in in a hurry. These guys
:22:47. > :22:51.just hammered the ball, swing so hard, the ball is fluff up.
:22:52. > :23:04.Another new weapon of choice from Raonic. No player likes to play with
:23:05. > :23:08.the new racket and new balls. If they are serving, they will wait
:23:09. > :23:16.that extra game. Those guys have done it in this match. That was very
:23:17. > :23:18.good from Federer. That may be part of the reason why he has won this
:23:19. > :24:17.seven times! APPLAUSE
:24:18. > :24:22.Oh! Right to the corner again. Once more, Federer just feeling it on
:24:23. > :24:28.serve. Not hitting the backhand as cleanly as he would have liked. No
:24:29. > :24:35.mistake about it, Raonic has got a big forehand, as he showed there.
:24:36. > :25:07.It is Federer making the noise at the end as he holds serve once more.
:25:08. > :25:12.This is the same shot he had a couple of points ago. Put a bit more
:25:13. > :25:16.on it and wait for it. Dutifully struck.
:25:17. > :25:25.-- beautifully struck. Slowly but surely, he will hit himself into
:25:26. > :25:30.this match, bring the crowd more into this match, as he did against
:25:31. > :25:35.Marin Cilic a few days ago. You heard him and the crowd there and
:25:36. > :25:38.that is exactly what he will want. Winners do get the Centre Court
:25:39. > :25:44.crowd going and so many of them are willing him to another final. The
:25:45. > :25:51.head-to-head 9-2 in Federer's favour. A lot of actors in here
:25:52. > :26:15.today. Federer won the last six encounters.
:26:16. > :26:17.Raonic has won two of the last five. That is somewhat respectable,
:26:18. > :26:19.heading in the right direction, as he serves to stay in this second
:26:20. > :26:49.set. We are an hour into this. The final stroke denies him. Great
:26:50. > :26:54.movement and Federer keeping Raonic moving all over the court. He loves
:26:55. > :26:57.that shot. This was actually a great get. A far easier ball than the
:26:58. > :27:26.first one. APPLAUSE
:27:27. > :27:42.One more for Federer. Suddenly the noise grows. The wind
:27:43. > :28:13.in the sails of Federer. APPLAUSE
:28:14. > :28:17.Well, and ugly double fault from Milos Raonic. Three set points for
:28:18. > :29:03.Roger Federer. What a wonderful play by Milos
:29:04. > :29:07.Raonic. Right on the line when the court was open.
:29:08. > :29:14.He has dug himself a deep hole. That was excellent but he still has to
:29:15. > :29:33.save two more. It works again for Raonic! Two down,
:29:34. > :30:23.one to go. What a superb second serve. From
:30:24. > :30:25.that position, from 0-40, he is nearly out of the hole now. Work not
:30:26. > :31:03.yet complete. No chance coming for Federer. That
:31:04. > :31:44.forehand had a lot on it. That was just beautiful.
:31:45. > :31:56.The shock in the crowd at the sound of the mis-hit.
:31:57. > :32:00.Surprising, considering how well he hit the previous backhand to get the
:32:01. > :32:15.set going again. Milos's first serve, which has
:32:16. > :32:46.drifted away a bit in this game. As a bold and brave as you will see
:32:47. > :32:53.from Milos Raonic. The points came and went, and he can breathe again
:32:54. > :32:59.for now. He showed some extreme toughness and fortitude. The game
:33:00. > :33:09.got to 0-40, it was tight. It was deathly silent when he was
:33:10. > :34:10.trying to save those set points. He loves to hit that serve, take it
:34:11. > :34:28.off the court. Good job by Federer there.
:34:29. > :34:37.That surprised Federer, that's for sure.
:34:38. > :34:43.He was expecting a slice across court. Keeping your opponent honest.
:34:44. > :35:32.A fantastic shot there. CHEERING
:35:33. > :35:43.So, Federer collects another. He will have at least a tie-break.
:35:44. > :35:53.Raonic had a good look at 30-30 after returning the second serve.
:35:54. > :36:01.He has to be thinking to himself it could very easily be one set each.
:36:02. > :36:04.He switches side even though he missed that drop volley. He has
:36:05. > :36:12.given the seven time champion something to think about.
:36:13. > :36:25.Just the other day, he came from two sets to love down. He needs to do it
:36:26. > :36:31.again. Since Jock which went out, there is an intensity about Federer,
:36:32. > :36:41.Andy Murray. The great nemesis has gone. He hasn't won one since 2012
:36:42. > :36:49.year, so it has been a while. The man who beat him in the last two
:36:50. > :36:55.finals is not here any more. Once again, it falls to Milos Raonic to
:36:56. > :37:18.fire down the service and stay in this set.
:37:19. > :37:23.Raonic taking those balls in the air, attacking, swinging Valles, but
:37:24. > :38:03.really keeping the pressure on Federer.
:38:04. > :38:54.No trouble at all. In this service came from Milos Raonic it is
:38:55. > :38:59.tie-break time. Milos Raonic is well used to tie-breaks. He has played
:39:00. > :39:20.25, has won 20 of his tie-breaks. Ed Birks is sitting in the box.
:39:21. > :39:24.Everyone around us -- everyone else encouraging Federer to use his
:39:25. > :40:04.skills with the racket. Not an easy volley to hit. Well handled.
:40:05. > :40:36.Nobody blinking yet in this tie-break.
:40:37. > :41:02.Hard to be a coach. Who would be a coach?
:41:03. > :41:12.Went for the forehand on some huge occasions, has to be ready for that.
:41:13. > :42:17.He caught it late, the tension mounting.
:42:18. > :42:30.A dominant point by Raonic. That forehand really well, that short
:42:31. > :42:39.outside angle. Tough to read and tough to handle.
:42:40. > :42:43.You could tell by Federer's inability to get it back into the
:42:44. > :43:23.court. Oh, double fault number six. It
:43:24. > :43:33.might be the most costly. CHEERING
:43:34. > :44:12.They will him on. CHEERING
:44:13. > :44:56.Federer on the brink of levelling things here on Centre Court.
:44:57. > :45:11.It is one set piece in this semifinal. Federer hits back.
:45:12. > :45:29.The legendary stat is that the players have respect for this guy.
:45:30. > :45:37.This guy is able to keep his composure, his belief. You are the
:45:38. > :45:41.one that feels more stressed, feel like you have to go for a bit extra.
:45:42. > :45:53.Like he did at 3-3 when he tried to go bigger on the serve. Serving this
:45:54. > :46:00.was 145 mph. Opportunities where he didn't get returns in play. He had
:46:01. > :46:09.worked so hard, Raonic, to get himself in that position at 4-5. A
:46:10. > :46:18.couple of pretty good looks, but you have to hand it to this guy. The
:46:19. > :46:21.first serve of Raonic in that game, then in the tie-break, there was
:46:22. > :46:25.that double fault. Just faltering a bit on his serve but the numbers
:46:26. > :46:37.there for you from the second set. We expected this match to be close,
:46:38. > :46:46.no question. I will say the same thing I said when it was 6-3, 5-4.
:46:47. > :46:52.If you would have said it would be one set each, given what happened a
:46:53. > :46:57.couple of years ago, it would not be ideal, but acceptable. That is what
:46:58. > :47:02.he has to keep telling himself. More winners from Raonic, but only two
:47:03. > :47:10.unforced errors from Federer in that set. They have both headed off for a
:47:11. > :47:15.break. Federer started to move a bit better towards the end of that.
:47:16. > :47:23.Raonic, the nerves perhaps slowed a little. There has to be a direct
:47:24. > :47:28.connection with the opportunity that presented itself. The forecast was
:47:29. > :47:42.OK for today, slightly threatening clouds. Robert Federer with his
:47:43. > :47:47.wife. Robert and Lynette here today. It is almost like a given that
:47:48. > :47:51.whoever loses a set of that magnitude in a situation like this
:47:52. > :47:59.goes off. Whether it is a bathroom break or changing clothes. A bit too
:48:00. > :48:04.long and too crazy over the years for my liking. Splash a bit of water
:48:05. > :48:10.on your face, give yourself a talking to, as Murray did against
:48:11. > :48:22.Jock pitch in the US Open final. -- against Novak Djokovic. He is back
:48:23. > :48:29.with us and we wait for Raonic. A glance to the clouds above, as well.
:48:30. > :48:34.A buzz around Centre Court. A greater buzz now, obviously. Just
:48:35. > :48:40.with Federer coming back in, because he carries the bulk of the support.
:48:41. > :48:44.The great, great player, he is always going to have most of the
:48:45. > :48:50.support and they want to see him in another final. Ten is not enough.
:48:51. > :48:55.You have to admire how Raonic has played, just until the end of that
:48:56. > :48:58.set. He has been so composed looking and will have learned from that
:48:59. > :49:04.semifinal a couple of years ago and will continue to make progress. He
:49:05. > :49:15.has taken time. He has been imposing himself when necessary. Roger
:49:16. > :49:20.Federer, hands on hips, waiting. I understand his perplexed look that
:49:21. > :49:30.it is taking this long. He is locked in there, somewhere. He has left his
:49:31. > :49:34.credentials out here. May be a default, so Roger gets it. There
:49:35. > :49:48.will come a point where there may be an intervention. Federer is now
:49:49. > :49:54.furrowing his brow as never before. There's going to be a big cheer when
:49:55. > :50:02.he comes back out, Milos Raonic. If anything, it will be the opposite. A
:50:03. > :50:14.big noise. Let's see. APPLAUSE CHEERING
:50:15. > :50:23.A smattering of applause. He needs a note from his mother. Already best
:50:24. > :50:32.of three now. With Milos, I'd cut out the water, because this guy is
:50:33. > :50:39.probably a bit edgy up in the chair. That's what may have caused the
:50:40. > :50:41.bathroom break in the first place! 'S trainer trying to pump him up,
:50:42. > :51:10.get him back on track. You definitely sends a momentum
:51:11. > :51:32.shift -- sense. A much bigger game for Raonic as it
:51:33. > :51:34.is for Federer. He needs to establish himself and get the lead
:51:35. > :51:51.here. It needs more of that because it
:51:52. > :52:08.certainly dropped his first serve percentage in the second set.
:52:09. > :52:38.There is an element of fear in the call of fault.
:52:39. > :52:52.Near enough and ideal start to the third set for Raonic.
:52:53. > :53:05.That was a pretty solid start for the Canadian. Both guys battling
:53:06. > :53:12.hard. Raonic trying to get a grand slam final for the first time in his
:53:13. > :53:34.life. Federer trying to get that one more grand slam, number 18.
:53:35. > :53:42.Would he consider quitting if he were to win a slam, the weight Pete
:53:43. > :53:48.Sampras did? 2002 to win 14, he thought that record would hold for a
:53:49. > :53:49.while. Little did he know that Federer, Rafa Nadal, they have tied
:53:50. > :54:14.him. That's a great reach from Raonic and
:54:15. > :54:23.a slight opening here in Federer's first service game in this set.
:54:24. > :54:28.Federer desperately wanted that ball to go lower.
:54:29. > :54:52.CHEERING That want to works for Federer.
:54:53. > :55:08.Wasn't a bad return from Raonic. A good effort by Federer there from
:55:09. > :55:56.0-30. How often have we seen that? The point here, a shot there, Raonic
:55:57. > :56:14.thinking he could do more than that 0-30 return. So finally balanced.
:56:15. > :56:22.Trying to did it out of his feet, Raonic. The return was too good. You
:56:23. > :56:28.have to assume it is coming back, he didn't look ready to hit that. I
:56:29. > :56:36.guess with him, he so often hits unreturnable is. -- unreturnables or
:56:37. > :57:22.aces. Proud parents, obviously, in both
:57:23. > :58:00.boxes. UMPIRE: Let, first serve. Robert Federer is aware that his son
:58:01. > :58:02.has ten Wimbledon finals. An extraordinary record. When he gets
:58:03. > :58:16.to semifinals, he gets to finals. Another mightily strong serve again
:58:17. > :58:46.from Milos Raonic. Just over 90 minutes played and so
:58:47. > :58:49.little between the two. Both guys have plenty of reason to feel good
:58:50. > :58:56.about where they are at at this stage. Federer, I don't think,
:58:57. > :59:00.surprisingly, was a bit stiff, perhaps. The body not getting going
:59:01. > :59:07.for a while cost him early in this match. Somewhat an exploitable game
:59:08. > :59:13.to lose serve, especially from 30-0 up. How often does that happen? And
:59:14. > :59:21.very rarely. Milos Raonic took advantage but Federer willed himself
:59:22. > :59:26.as he did. Raonic battled hard to save those four set points. Get to a
:59:27. > :59:33.tie-break. It looked like he had a real shot. He blinked, Federer was
:59:34. > :59:38.there. Milos Raonic looks so composed, and on most days. He used
:59:39. > :59:45.to have a fierce temper as a junior, Federer himself was. He used to be
:59:46. > :00:01.very calm. Now he is heading in the opposite direction.
:00:02. > :01:12.I don't know if he caught it or not, but there was some applause. Big
:01:13. > :01:44.moment. Quick pace here in this match.
:01:45. > :01:53.They're not wasting any time, these two.
:01:54. > :02:03.Nine of 14 for Federer, so far. Not been to the net as frequently as I
:02:04. > :02:13.would have thought. See if that changes.
:02:14. > :02:27.Wild! A long way wide. Talked about the reality of double faults in the
:02:28. > :02:31.Federer game. -- the rarity of double faults. A couple in this
:02:32. > :02:53.match. Oh! It was there for him. Raonic did a beautiful job of that
:02:54. > :03:06.running slice. Still he thought he had a break point.
:03:07. > :03:17.Too strong from Milos Raonic. I think he would prefer to see that
:03:18. > :03:20.top-spin than the slice. This ball sits up perfectly for Raonic, right
:03:21. > :03:38.in his strike zone. Trying to get that slice to stay
:03:39. > :03:44.down below his knees, if he can. He tries that serve so often out there,
:03:45. > :03:47.you've got to be ready for that. That was only 101 mph.
:03:48. > :04:01.Brilliant. Great hold from Federer. APPLAUSE
:04:02. > :04:12.Just enough encouraging signs from Milos Raonic but Federer doing
:04:13. > :04:17.enough again with this combination. When he first struck that ball, you
:04:18. > :04:24.see it, it's so high above the net you think it's what to go long. It's
:04:25. > :04:28.strange today, the speed at which the players swing at the ball it
:04:29. > :05:00.just drops miraculously, if you are Federer, just inside the baseline.
:05:01. > :05:24.This is the only way he could have won that point. Just barely missed
:05:25. > :07:08.it. APPLAUSE
:07:09. > :07:21.Oh! With a second serve straight down the middle. Raonic holds.
:07:22. > :07:30.He hasn't lost at this Championships yet. He's got the ball on a string.
:07:31. > :07:39.He's picked his moment. Getting fired up, these two. It's a searing
:07:40. > :07:45.shot. He is truly one of the greatest players ever. That may very
:07:46. > :07:51.well do it! They thoroughly deserved their place in the showpiece event.
:07:52. > :07:59.What a Super Sunday of sport that will be. The Wimbledon final on BBC
:08:00. > :08:04.One at 1pm. The Euros final, France versus Portugal, Devon PM on BBC
:08:05. > :08:07.One. What a day to look forward to. -- 7pm.
:08:08. > :08:19.COMMENTATOR: Plenty of bars in here. A finely poised match. -- plenty of
:08:20. > :08:25.buzz. Andy Murray against Tomas Berdych to come. Will it be a first
:08:26. > :08:31.Grand Slam final for this man, Milos Raonic?
:08:32. > :09:10.Giving himself every opportunity. Federer serving at 2-3.
:09:11. > :09:20.Well, Federer returning the favour. Wait a second! When was that photo
:09:21. > :09:38.taken? Is that Halloween? Please tell me they're not selling that!
:09:39. > :09:43.APPLAUSE Well, we haven't had a hold to love
:09:44. > :09:52.for some time, for Federer. As we suspected, not a huge number
:09:53. > :10:19.of elongated rallies. ' unlucky for Raonic there, it
:10:20. > :11:02.clipped the tape. Ran into the net well and finished
:11:03. > :11:07.off beautifully. Extremely difficult to lob from that position, so allows
:11:08. > :12:04.Raonic to get closer to the net. CHEERING AND APPLAUSE
:12:05. > :12:09.Is a masterstroke again from Federer. They stand for him now, two
:12:10. > :12:26.break points. In the last set he was able to save
:12:27. > :12:30.four break points, Raonic. He has to do so again here.
:12:31. > :13:17.Is out! Federer strikes first in this first set. He has the break.
:13:18. > :13:26.Raonic, for the first time, just a little bit loose.
:13:27. > :13:35.It just shows you, when you play a guy this good, you've got to keep
:13:36. > :13:41.your intensity high the whole way, you can't afford any slip-ups. He
:13:42. > :13:49.gave Federer time to hit that forehand again. He felt anxiety to
:13:50. > :13:53.make something happen, and delivered a total mis-hit. Again, a double
:13:54. > :14:00.fault in there, which made it seven from Raonic. He was averaging three
:14:01. > :14:03.a match coming into this one. Again, when you have Roger Federer on the
:14:04. > :14:07.other side of the net, it just does things to you. Have you just chase
:14:08. > :14:18.it a bit more or you certainly feel a bit tighter. -- perhaps you just
:14:19. > :14:27.chase it. It's the first time he's lost... It's not like Federer is
:14:28. > :14:30.blowing him off the court on the return. Well, Raonic is going to
:14:31. > :14:33.have to find something to find a way back into this. Third set, Federer
:14:34. > :15:24.with the break. APPLAUSE
:15:25. > :15:30.He did everything asked of him there, Raonic, until the final
:15:31. > :15:52.moment. That volley was a direct result of the last game.
:15:53. > :16:03.APPLAUSE Raonic needs a response now, because
:16:04. > :16:14.he is looking slightly wayward and, again, chatting away to himself.
:16:15. > :16:20.APPLAUSE Federer moves on and moves closer to
:16:21. > :16:39.a two sets to one lead. You just sense that when a guy
:16:40. > :16:48.starts to give a bit, as Raonic has just done...
:16:49. > :16:53.UMPIRE: Mr Federer is challenging the call on the left service line.
:16:54. > :16:58.The ball was called in. Not a great history with challenges,
:16:59. > :18:43.Federer. That continues. UMPIRE: Mr Federer is challenging
:18:44. > :18:50.the call on the left service line. The ball was called in. It might be
:18:51. > :18:57.a hold of serve. Depends on the result of this challenge. Just good
:18:58. > :19:03.enough. It might count for very little in a few moments's time.
:19:04. > :19:11.Federer will still serve for the set but at least Raonic again asks the
:19:12. > :19:17.question. If you were to put your coach's hat on and go out there and
:19:18. > :19:21.speak to Raonic, if the rules changed, what would you say as his
:19:22. > :19:28.level has dropped slightly? Well, it seems a bit surprising but a couple
:19:29. > :19:31.of things I've seen from Federer like his tendencies on serve, which
:19:32. > :19:36.I think he should have been expecting, but of course it's easy
:19:37. > :19:41.to be the back-seat driver. "Well, You should do this". I've been
:19:42. > :19:45.fortunate enough to be on this court many times playing and it's a whole
:19:46. > :19:48.lot tougher when you're playing someone this great. This is arguably
:19:49. > :19:58.the greatest player that's ever lived, desperately trying to win one
:19:59. > :20:02.more major. You can feel it is, the people watching can feel it, and
:20:03. > :20:07.that can get to anyone. Dan Evans spoke of how he would try to push
:20:08. > :20:11.Federer hard and when he got there and Federer was on the other side of
:20:12. > :20:13.the neck his body and his mind went missing for a while. Raonic
:20:14. > :20:40.certainly has the ability. After mis-hitting returns like that,
:20:41. > :20:43.play it safe to the centre of the court. Hit it with the same
:20:44. > :20:55.authority. UMPIRE: Mr Raonic is challenging the
:20:56. > :20:59.call on the left baseline. He probably knew the challenge
:21:00. > :21:06.acrobatics baseball was going out, so good challenge from Raonic. -- he
:21:07. > :21:15.probably knew that the ball was going out, so good challenge. Yes.
:21:16. > :21:22.He plays so fast too, Federer. He is into a rhythm now and he moves to
:21:23. > :21:36.three set points. CHEERING AND APPLAUSE
:21:37. > :21:38.He leaves on Centre Court in this semifinal, from a set down to two
:21:39. > :21:59.sets to one. The tie-break in the second set
:22:00. > :22:14.could have been much closer, but Federer in control now.
:22:15. > :22:24.Come on Andy! Come on Andy! Come on Andy!
:22:25. > :22:30.COMMENTATOR: You got a guy like that... You follow.
:22:31. > :22:35.STUDIO And when the match is completed on
:22:36. > :22:42.Centre Court, no doubt we will hear a little more of that "Come on,
:22:43. > :22:48.Andy!" He is second on centre, taking on Tomas Berdych. Back we go
:22:49. > :22:56.to set number one. What a way to take the second set from Federer. He
:22:57. > :23:04.is one set away from his third consecutive Wimbledon final, his
:23:05. > :23:08.11th in all. There could still be a way back for Milos Raonic, the way
:23:09. > :23:14.he played in the first set. But it is Federer looking to take his step
:23:15. > :23:20.to the final, a possible 18th Grand Slam title. Didn't this guy have
:23:21. > :23:24.surgery? Ms the French Open and have a lot of rest? Not this guy!
:23:25. > :23:29.LAUGHTER Federer did Ms the French Open. --
:23:30. > :23:34.did miss. We're going to find out what Raonic
:23:35. > :23:42.is made of. A long look from Federer to the
:23:43. > :24:50.umpire. Persuaded not to challenge. Well, the ideal start to set number
:24:51. > :24:54.four, for Raonic. If I were Raonic, I would try to slow things down.
:24:55. > :25:04.It's really being played at Federer's rhythm. Going so fast,
:25:05. > :25:11.your mind can fog up a bit trying to figure out what to do to get back.
:25:12. > :25:15.Need to take advantage of every second he's on this court. He
:25:16. > :25:24.certainly hasn't been out there as often as Federer.
:25:25. > :25:32.Hitting that wide serve to his backhand. To me, rip it up the line.
:25:33. > :25:40.Once Federer does get into his rhythm, as you say, you have to play
:25:41. > :25:44.at a server's speed, maybe an extra dab of a towel or two. He's on roll
:25:45. > :26:02.now. So, something to behold now from
:26:03. > :26:13.Federer. They hold to love from Raonic and then that one from
:26:14. > :26:20.Federer, moving swiftly along. -- a hold. He was through that game in
:26:21. > :26:24.about a minute. He's played more service games when he is held in a
:26:25. > :26:27.minute or less than anyone, by far. -- when he has held in a minute or
:26:28. > :26:38.less. He is getting better as time goes
:26:39. > :26:44.on, not worse. Raonic with the new balls.
:26:45. > :27:59.The server is having a field day so far in this third set.
:28:00. > :28:34.APPLAUSE Normal service resumed.
:28:35. > :28:42.APPLAUSE Another emphatic hold of serve from
:28:43. > :28:51.Milos Raonic. A determined look about him again.
:28:52. > :29:01.He must still believe that this can be done, and of course it can.
:29:02. > :29:15.This has not been an exceptionally physical match. Not a lot of long
:29:16. > :29:19.rallies, as anticipated. This Swiss Davis Cup captain, bottom left, has
:29:20. > :29:24.been with Federer for some time. Ivan Ljubicic should and then his
:29:25. > :29:29.video alongside him. His fitness trainer is not there. One of the
:29:30. > :29:33.great things to admire about Federer is his fitness and how robust he has
:29:34. > :29:39.been throughout his career. Just starting to show some signs of
:29:40. > :29:45.frailty. Yeah, exactly, mortality! But he really has been an example in
:29:46. > :29:49.terms of his longevity. He has put his body through the mill but he has
:29:50. > :29:53.been a tremendous athlete for so long. Stefan Edberg no longer
:29:54. > :29:59.working with him as a coach but still here admiring, with so many
:30:00. > :30:03.others. A good friend of Federer's. It seems like when he moves he is
:30:04. > :30:22.just floating about the court. Took one in the side, handled it
:30:23. > :30:43.well. Trying desperately to make some type
:30:44. > :30:57.of impact on Federer's serve, Milos. The unforced error numbers are
:30:58. > :31:27.massively in Federer's favour. As you said, getting stronger as
:31:28. > :31:58.this match goes on, Federer. UMPIRE: Mr Rennick is challenging a
:31:59. > :32:06.call on the left baseline. The ball was called in.
:32:07. > :32:20.His eyes deceived him. Federer holds.
:32:21. > :32:38.UMPIRE: Mr Raonic has two challenges remaining.
:32:39. > :33:01.Relying increasingly on the serve will
:33:02. > :33:05.Wonderfully done by Raonic. The crowd gasped at the return from
:33:06. > :34:10.Federer. And again, the return whistles back
:34:11. > :34:26.from the racket of Federer. A risky move to hit a serve like
:34:27. > :34:39.that with his forehand. You are asking for trouble.
:34:40. > :34:45.That is wide. Deep trouble now for Milos Raonic. Federer goes from
:34:46. > :34:54.strength to strength. Hasn't taken many, but two chances
:34:55. > :35:18.here. Just that slight lift in case from
:35:19. > :35:27.Raonic. Just a bit more worried. Still one break point to see off.
:35:28. > :36:02.Raonic stands firm again. Expected that Federer would hit a slice
:36:03. > :36:15.across court. He couldn't get it there, but to hit a beautiful shot.
:36:16. > :36:49.That serve to the body again, though, working well.
:36:50. > :36:57.APPLAUSE Such depth fan Federer -- from
:36:58. > :37:20.Federer. There it is a game. Not even Federer
:37:21. > :37:41.can chase that one down. When he hit your volley, you don't
:37:42. > :37:42.have to go too much. Not even with Federer. He had a lot of court to
:37:43. > :37:58.work with. He's thinking he had to hit it
:37:59. > :38:08.harder, closer to the line. Not on that one.
:38:09. > :38:16.What a hold. What a hard-working hold again for Milos Raonic. So, so
:38:17. > :38:26.important. Two break points stared down. Big opportunity for Federer.
:38:27. > :38:30.Just when all momentum seemed to be moving with him, his level had
:38:31. > :38:36.lifted, but he couldn't quite complete the job there.
:38:37. > :38:44.Raonic, we saw his family and friends and coaching staff urging
:38:45. > :38:58.him on in this game. He responded so well.
:38:59. > :39:14.At the least he gets a couple of cents for that? A couple of dollars?
:39:15. > :39:21.At that moment, he was rushing, hyped up. He was having a hard time
:39:22. > :39:28.thinking clearly, but he ended up with a big, big forehand when he
:39:29. > :39:29.desperately needed it. Federer has been near-perfect on the serve so
:39:30. > :40:19.far in this set. It is long. Creeping into the net
:40:20. > :40:41.again. Absolutely the right play to keep the pressure on Federer.
:40:42. > :40:58.Beautifully done by Raonic. Hit his slice just low enough.
:40:59. > :41:29.Below the net, a beautiful stroke there.
:41:30. > :42:14.Can't quite match Raonic four aces, -- four aces.
:42:15. > :42:18.Best game that Raonic has had off the return in quite a while. There
:42:19. > :42:32.he goes again, though. APPLAUSE
:42:33. > :43:02.It was a fault. Not as convincing as his previous
:43:03. > :44:09.service games. You have to be disciplined when you
:44:10. > :44:25.play Federer. He was way, way behind the baseline.
:44:26. > :44:55.Once again, Federer senses the opportunity.
:44:56. > :45:05.That serve came down at one for four miles per hour. -- 100 44 mph. He
:45:06. > :45:35.needed a good forehand to get out of that point.
:45:36. > :46:21.It seems like he has found a second wind but is also jacked up right
:46:22. > :46:39.now. So tense. An extremely dicey moment for him.
:46:40. > :46:52.UMPIRE: Mr Federer is a call the left service line. The ball was
:46:53. > :47:05.called in. It is out. By some distance.
:47:06. > :47:29.Well done to Federer for even getting that point.
:47:30. > :47:36.He is hanging in well at the moment, Raonic. It does feel like that at
:47:37. > :47:44.times. His father leads the applause. Just a few more
:47:45. > :47:50.opportunities seem to be arising for Federer more than for the Canadian.
:47:51. > :47:57.He played his best return game for quite awhile the last time. It is
:47:58. > :48:01.looking up for him in that sense. I feel he is playing with more energy,
:48:02. > :48:10.but he's got to control his aggression a bit better. Federer is
:48:11. > :48:14.so eager all the time. Just flicks a bit of hair raises an eyebrow.
:48:15. > :48:20.Because he has been here so many times before, this is his comfort
:48:21. > :48:30.zone. It is hard to be comfortable here, but he does a magnificent job.
:48:31. > :48:34.There will certainly be tension for Federer, even though it doesn't
:48:35. > :48:43.show. An 18th Grand Slam title at stake here. Novak Djokovic left the
:48:44. > :49:18.stage earlier, so the chance has certainly increased.
:49:19. > :49:27.Got to harness his energy. He has to focus on using it on putting a bit
:49:28. > :49:42.more on the return. A very different Federer to the one
:49:43. > :49:43.we saw in the first set. More on first error. His serve wasn't so
:49:44. > :50:23.potent. It's right on the line. Played
:50:24. > :50:32.around the net for a moment in that rally.
:50:33. > :50:48.Still Federer making hit that extra shot. -- made him hit.
:50:49. > :51:05.Raonic has to be disciplined and maybe play a safer ball to the
:51:06. > :51:41.centre of the court. Must have more margin than he did on that.
:51:42. > :51:51.That was the first ball where he really changed things up. Used his
:51:52. > :51:59.kick to his advantage. He has got to keep mixing up his serves.
:52:00. > :52:18.Even at these crazy speeds he's heating at. -- hitting.
:52:19. > :52:53.APPLAUSE Come on! A come on from Federer.
:52:54. > :53:08.CHEERING Presence at the net from Federer.
:53:09. > :53:14.He didn't see that coming, he snuck in on him. That was beautiful play.
:53:15. > :54:20.Tension increases. CHEERING
:54:21. > :54:29.It is long and here is the moment, the opportunity for Federer.
:54:30. > :54:33.Milos Raonic has withstood some pressure, some break points in this
:54:34. > :54:42.match. APPLAUSE
:54:43. > :55:08.What a serve under that pressure. Trying to scuttle round onto the
:55:09. > :56:43.forehand. Two powerful this time from Raonic.
:56:44. > :56:47.He has had some absolutely tremendous body serves. Federer
:56:48. > :56:59.doing a good job gain of fighting it off.
:57:00. > :57:09.So, so impressive from Milos Raonic. Weathers the storm on this occasion.
:57:10. > :57:15.He'll be looking for sanctuary in the tie-break, perhaps. What an
:57:16. > :57:22.opportunity that was for Roger Federer. Again, whenever he has been
:57:23. > :57:29.put under the pressure, he has responded well. My goodness, he has
:57:30. > :57:32.had to see off some break points. He is playing perhaps the greatest
:57:33. > :57:37.player that ever lived and he has risen to the occasion for the most
:57:38. > :57:43.part. He has played well, served really big. You have to serve big.
:57:44. > :57:48.You could feel the tension. It was so quiet in here. They are
:57:49. > :57:55.anticipating that Federer break. This young man, this Canadian. He
:57:56. > :57:58.moved there from Montenegro when he was young. Not surprising to see
:57:59. > :58:04.these type of numbers with his serve. He has fought hard. Federer
:58:05. > :58:10.has gotten better and better as this much has gone on. Seems to have more
:58:11. > :58:14.energy than he has had for quite a while. Hopefully you can use that to
:58:15. > :58:21.his advantage. Federer is just amazing.
:58:22. > :58:30.Even the greatest will feel the tension.
:58:31. > :59:22.Novak Djokovic and Murray are the ones for the return. You can see how
:59:23. > :59:30.well the return sets up the deep ball.
:59:31. > :59:34.UMPIRE: Mr Federer is challenging a call on the right line. The ball was
:59:35. > :59:47.called out. Another great return from Raonic. He
:59:48. > :59:58.was ready for it. UMPIRE: Mr Federer has two
:59:59. > :00:22.challenges remaining. The second serve to try and put
:00:23. > :00:28.away, but you have to take these small chances when you get them. It
:00:29. > :00:47.wasn't a small chance - that was a huge chance for him.
:00:48. > :01:02.Flapping his arms and staring to his support group.
:01:03. > :01:17.Well, the umpire steps in, Federer is challenging. The ball was called
:01:18. > :01:35.out. It was called wide, the umpire was wrong, so Federer holds.
:01:36. > :01:42.Again, some encouragement for Raonic that there were moments there where
:01:43. > :01:51.he got a glimpse of things. Both guys did, but that first 15-30, the
:01:52. > :02:21.back and micro, then 30-30, he chose to play safe. -- the backhand.
:02:22. > :03:04.Swatted away by Federer, you can watch the response sail long.
:03:05. > :03:18.Federer strokes it away, and again he is closing in. This is an
:03:19. > :03:47.incredible shot. That is a great get, what a shot
:03:48. > :03:53.from Raonic! Every stroke in that rally was great, including Federer's
:03:54. > :04:13.passing shot. All six was necessary to get to that. -- all 6'5".
:04:14. > :04:18.Again, he is coming up with the answers when put under the cosh,
:04:19. > :05:16.from 0- 30, hauling himself back in. Raonic eventually wears him down and
:05:17. > :05:25.holds, a vital, vital hold. Again, he knows at the very least he will
:05:26. > :05:32.have a tie-break here. This is pretty outstanding stuff from both
:05:33. > :05:37.these guys, stepping it up big time. Raonic answering the bell again
:05:38. > :05:45.here, it was not looking good at 0-30, but he deserves to feel that
:05:46. > :05:48.way, to get that old. I remember a different proposition against a
:05:49. > :05:52.different player, when he came from two sets down against avid coffin,
:05:53. > :05:58.he has got plenty of fighting qualities. -- David coffin. That was
:05:59. > :06:02.in the fourth round. He has never done that, it gives you a new level
:06:03. > :06:07.of confidence and belief that it can be done. A lot harder against this
:06:08. > :06:15.guy, to even come from 2-1 down, than it would be 2-1 against Goffin,
:06:16. > :06:20.that is for sure. He needs to put himself in position to have a
:06:21. > :06:26.chance. There was an opportunity in the previous service game for
:06:27. > :06:29.Raonic. Federer would be taken to a fifth set, as he was against Marin
:06:30. > :06:40.Cilic, when he came from 2-0 down. New balls, serving to stay in the
:06:41. > :07:40.set. Oh, great return, a little help from
:07:41. > :07:43.the net, but brilliant again. The comfort he had was that he knew that
:07:44. > :07:45.he just had to get it into the court, that was a good return by
:07:46. > :08:16.Raonic. Hitting that at 30-30 would have
:08:17. > :08:31.given him a set point in the last game.
:08:32. > :08:43.Only number three in the double fault states from -- stakes from
:08:44. > :09:36.Federer. That is superb, superb from Raonic,
:09:37. > :09:49.what touch! And he takes on soft now to the brink. -- takes himself. Just
:09:50. > :09:51.a few moments ago, it scarcely seemed possible, Federer in control
:09:52. > :10:25.of this game, but set point Raonic. Wow! We have seen the best volley he
:10:26. > :10:32.has hit the entire match and the best return right there. Get the
:10:33. > :10:46.speed gun on that one. Set point once more.
:10:47. > :12:18.Just devoured that second serve, Raonic.
:12:19. > :12:48.Oh, it is wide. Another chance for Raonic.
:12:49. > :12:57.Oh, he has it, into a fifth set we go! Milos Raonic stuns Federer - and
:12:58. > :13:06.most of the Centre Court crowd. We go on.
:13:07. > :13:15.That was an absolutely incredible game by Raonic, he was 40-0 down. He
:13:16. > :13:21.ripped that four when I said, it is easier to do it at 30-30, Federer,
:13:22. > :13:27.amazing, served two doubles in a row. Almost as amazingly he hit the
:13:28. > :13:33.ball right back to him, he is a big guy, not as quick as some of these
:13:34. > :13:40.other guys. I mean, he got a look at a past there. Again, we talked about
:13:41. > :13:44.it, two double fault in the entire championship for Federer, so that
:13:45. > :13:49.was the pressure, the tension in that game. Let's have a look at the
:13:50. > :13:50.stats in that set. Murray fans, stands down for a little while
:13:51. > :14:03.longer. Raonic finally, I felt, he found
:14:04. > :14:09.this extra gear. I'm not even sure he knew he had it. But he was able
:14:10. > :14:12.to weather the storm a couple of times off his serve, but you could
:14:13. > :14:22.feel that his energy was higher. It got to Federer. I always wonder why
:14:23. > :14:32.a guy, Tsonga did the same thing, ... They are looking at Federer's
:14:33. > :14:37.knee, I believe. Talk about a of events.
:14:38. > :14:46.I was just going to finish, sorry, why would a guy, playing a game like
:14:47. > :14:52.that, Tsonga did this against Murray, leave the court? Well,
:14:53. > :14:54.exactly. When you have got this unbelievable momentum. It really
:14:55. > :15:00.makes a difference one way or the other. They say any as camp that
:15:01. > :15:08.Federer is getting his knee looked at, or his leg? He is not going to
:15:09. > :15:17.sit there well Federer gets treatment.
:15:18. > :15:27.As we watch Federer, I wonder how... Dealing with this, as a commentator
:15:28. > :15:31.you call it, but as a coach as well, we see the coaches watching, and it
:15:32. > :15:46.is difficult, you have that had to wear as well, it can't be easy. --
:15:47. > :15:50.hat. I feel extremely fortunate to have a small part of this, these
:15:51. > :15:54.guys are incredible to watch, trying to help a guy reaches potential,
:15:55. > :15:59.that makes it that much more pleasurable. And to watch this guy
:16:00. > :16:07.over the years, I hardly call what I am doing here a job, that is for
:16:08. > :16:14.sure. This has turned out to be quite the... The ATP trainer does a
:16:15. > :16:20.great job for the players, very dependable, a lot of the players
:16:21. > :16:27.have their own people you can see some of those have been Raonic's
:16:28. > :16:32.box, but once the match starts, they are not allowed to work on them
:16:33. > :16:36.anymore. He was allowed to get messages under the pitch, that is a
:16:37. > :16:46.luxury that they had. I am told that Jose Mourinho is here, he is on the
:16:47. > :16:49.ground somewhere. He is here today this was where Raonic to quite a bit
:16:50. > :16:57.of time at the end of the second set. I thought that the crowd might
:16:58. > :17:00.turn on him, they weren't too happy. The momentum daily shifts to
:17:01. > :17:06.Federer. Obviously, most of that have to do with his quality of play,
:17:07. > :17:15.not just waiting five minutes. Here he is now, does he know that Federer
:17:16. > :17:23.has been treated? I doubt it. And bye time. Very interesting, the
:17:24. > :17:25.comparison with Tsonga against Murray, that is absolutely apt,
:17:26. > :17:36.because a lot of people are saying, you have got that momentum, if you
:17:37. > :17:43.do not need to take the break... Had a break point in the first game. So
:17:44. > :18:12.one set for a place in the final of the men's singles.
:18:13. > :18:47.One thing we did see from Raonic, he was getting a little bit quicker
:18:48. > :19:07.under pressure, reboot and go back to his normal pace now.
:19:08. > :20:12.Into double figures on the double faults.
:20:13. > :20:18.That is the first time I have seen him do what he did a number of times
:20:19. > :20:20.earlier, step back, give themselves a bit more time to hit through the
:20:21. > :20:38.second serve. That serve into the body draws a few
:20:39. > :20:46.gasps and brings a service told for Raonic. -- hold. There is always
:20:47. > :20:53.that slight initiative of the advantage, it goes the way of Raonic
:20:54. > :20:59.in this final set. Paddy won the tie-break, it wouldn't have been the
:21:00. > :21:04.case. Pretty important here. -- had he won.
:21:05. > :21:57.So, Federer, how is his fitness and stamina?
:21:58. > :22:09.Amazingly, the two games that Federer has lost serve he was up
:22:10. > :22:17.30-0 and 40-0. It becomes important in the fifth set, if you get to
:22:18. > :22:26.losing your service, you can lose the match. You need to hold serve
:22:27. > :22:35.until the pressure really ramps up, as it did against Roger.
:22:36. > :22:43.That is 140 again, a nod from Carlos Moya, the French over-champions back
:22:44. > :24:42.in 1998. -- French Open. Hard to believe that was a second
:24:43. > :24:45.serve. That was 130, goodness me, nearing three hours, then, on Centre
:24:46. > :24:59.Court, and in the early stages of this deciding set. 144 in the first,
:25:00. > :25:07.just eased back on the throttle to 130. I think he is jacked that he is
:25:08. > :25:14.still at there, he has got a shot at this, he has never been in a Grand
:25:15. > :25:18.Slam, Wimbledon final. Tell us what it feels like to be there, you have
:25:19. > :25:23.got that adrenaline, it is useful, but it is trying to reign it in,
:25:24. > :25:31.control it, channel it. Easier said than done! He has worked extremely
:25:32. > :25:35.hard on and off the court to get himself fit enough, his body
:25:36. > :25:39.resilient enough that he can handle himself in this, so he has got to be
:25:40. > :25:43.feeling good that something kicked in. He did have trouble, he was
:25:44. > :25:47.rushing a little bit, that is understandable when you are playing
:25:48. > :25:51.somebody like Federer. But he was able to sort of stick with it, and
:25:52. > :26:02.that forehand, on break point down, way back when, quite a bit more
:26:03. > :26:07.important. Is there are none the forecast? Is that why we are... --
:26:08. > :26:22.is there rein in the forecast? Again, Milos Raonic waits for time
:26:23. > :26:31.to be called, and then just a couple of moments more. So close to the
:26:32. > :26:37.Australian over-finals this year, lost in five sets in the semifinal
:26:38. > :27:05.to Andy Murray. -- the Australian Open final this year.
:27:06. > :27:15.Before last year, or before last match, he had not played a
:27:16. > :27:22.five-setter in almost a year, he came from two sets down at the US
:27:23. > :27:25.Open, but that cost him the next match against Cilic. I wonder if
:27:26. > :27:37.that will happen today. Trying to pump himself up, because
:27:38. > :27:39.Raonic is doing a good job of taking the crowd out of it, at least
:27:40. > :28:29.temporarily. I really don't know why, I think it
:28:30. > :29:03.was going in either way. It wasn't that long ago we had that
:29:04. > :29:33.wonderful read on serve, Federer - not here now. -- wonderful rhythm.
:29:34. > :29:44.Oh, it is good, Federer down! Raonic has the break point to come. It is
:29:45. > :29:52.not often you see Roger Federer lying prone on Centre Court. I don't
:29:53. > :29:54.know if I've ever seen it, except when he has won the tournament! An
:29:55. > :30:11.amazing point. He is calling the trainer right now.
:30:12. > :30:16.There was nothing in that slip, something gave way. The crowd are
:30:17. > :30:34.chuckling, but this is not good at all.
:30:35. > :30:53.He caught his toe. You can put direct strain on the knee. He says
:30:54. > :31:03.he is OK. This is break point for Raonic. What moments in this matter
:31:04. > :31:05.now. We talked about Federer being in his cockpit zone, he is far from
:31:06. > :31:16.it now. He is fine and fighting now,
:31:17. > :32:39.Federer. Raonic is still fighting, believing
:32:40. > :32:43.that a break can be his. Even more than he had ever believed when he
:32:44. > :33:09.has got a shot at getting to the finals here.
:33:10. > :33:18.And the double fault Demons claim him again. This is the mask of
:33:19. > :33:19.immortality slipping from Federer and another opportunity for Milos
:33:20. > :33:49.Raonic. That is extraordinary from Milos
:33:50. > :33:57.Raonic! He has the break, he has the edge in the deciding set. And what a
:33:58. > :34:04.points to make the breakthrough. That was truly amazing by Raonic.
:34:05. > :34:15.Federer was doing everything possible. Understandably elated.
:34:16. > :35:03.Keep thinking says Carlos Moya. That is a killer, when you just toss
:35:04. > :37:01.in that. And now outlasting Federer in the
:37:02. > :37:08.rallies. Extremely tough angles of that for of Federer. Dasher
:37:09. > :37:26.forehand. And the brake is backed up with a
:37:27. > :37:31.rock-solid service game. They believe and he believes, that again
:37:32. > :37:38.in that fourth set when Roger Federer was playing vintage Roger
:37:39. > :37:42.Federer it did not seem possible. I say possible, but it did not seem
:37:43. > :37:47.likely. It did not seem likely because of Federer had it all going
:37:48. > :37:52.his way. He had a couple of break point chances. There was an
:37:53. > :38:00.extremely difficult forehand that saved Raonic. You could not script
:38:01. > :38:08.this, that it would go on and on. Look at that shot right there. Just
:38:09. > :38:15.an absolutely amazing feeling for this guy, never has been in a Grand
:38:16. > :38:26.Slam final. To see that ball finally go by Federer. He would not mind if
:38:27. > :38:37.he wins this watching the replay of that shot. He is getting stronger
:38:38. > :38:38.now. But Federer is one of the greatest, perhaps the greatest, of
:38:39. > :39:05.all-time. Good also by Raonic again. He is
:39:06. > :39:30.moving better. The energy is certainly with him.
:39:31. > :40:03.Again the return, what a return. Stretched out like a giant wing and
:40:04. > :40:15.beat it back. He is cutting it off, he does a beautiful job again.
:40:16. > :40:23.And Federer has to cling on here. A break down against Raonic is bad
:40:24. > :40:31.enough, two breaks would be farewell.
:40:32. > :40:41.UMPIRE: Mr Federer is challenging the ball on the right line. The ball
:40:42. > :41:25.was called out. I fear for Federer here. Oh, no. A big point.
:41:26. > :41:36.Oh, again, the same shot and the same result.
:41:37. > :42:07.And they will try and lift him, but Federer is staring into the abyss.
:42:08. > :42:23.Again chasing it down, Raonic. A really excellent sliced backhand.
:42:24. > :42:34.This is it if he can win this point. But he does not, Federer once again
:42:35. > :42:53.with the answer. Nearly again, but Federer is digging
:42:54. > :43:14.into all of his reserves. What a huge game, what a huge effort
:43:15. > :43:18.from Roger Federer. He avoids the double break. Hanging on by his
:43:19. > :43:42.fingernails. Time for a change. It will give
:43:43. > :44:08.Raonic a little extra time to think about this.
:44:09. > :44:39.Shocked that a couple of sets ago were coming off. Another excellent
:44:40. > :45:10.volley by Raonic. Mistakes again drawn from Federer.
:45:11. > :46:13.He cuts a rather we reconfigure. -- weary figure.
:46:14. > :46:30.Closer and closer still to his first major final, Milos Raonic. What a
:46:31. > :46:35.mountain to climb for Federer. It has never been closer than this,
:46:36. > :46:47.that has been sure. One Wimbledon semi, one Australian Open semi where
:46:48. > :46:51.he was set away. Now one game from the Wimbledon final. You can do all
:46:52. > :46:54.the coaching in the world and work out how you are going to play a
:46:55. > :46:59.match, but you cannot prepare for these moments because that comes
:47:00. > :47:05.down to nerve and you have to have that within you to remain composed.
:47:06. > :47:09.It is part of why you go through these other experiences and try and
:47:10. > :47:14.learn from the losses so when you are in this position you are better
:47:15. > :47:20.able to handle it. I would like to check his heart rate right now. I am
:47:21. > :47:23.not talking about him, I am talking about Raonic, who has done an
:47:24. > :47:46.exceptional job in this position. Federer, looking less than solid
:47:47. > :48:23.now, serving to stay in the championship.
:48:24. > :48:26.He is thinking about preparing himself for that moment we talked
:48:27. > :48:49.about. Still life in Federer, still
:48:50. > :48:56.glimpses of the old brilliance. And now he will throw everything into
:48:57. > :48:57.this service game of Milos Raonic. Perhaps the biggest service game of
:48:58. > :49:17.Milos Raonic's career. And the swell of noise subsides
:49:18. > :49:18.inside Centre Court. New balls and a chance to serve for a place in the
:49:19. > :50:11.final. And when the pressure has come down
:50:12. > :50:15.and when the moment has been here, Milos Raonic is showing no signs of
:50:16. > :50:42.nerves. Three match points. It is wide! He has it, Raonic goes
:50:43. > :50:50.to his first final. And Federer falls, knocked down, knocked out by
:50:51. > :50:53.Milos Raonic. The dream is over for Federer, that Milos Raonic is
:50:54. > :50:59.through to his first Grand Slam final. It will be here at Wimbledon
:51:00. > :51:11.on Sunday. What moments for him, what a triumph.
:51:12. > :51:22.Think about what that young man has accomplished. He is an amazing
:51:23. > :51:32.champion and to come back from that position... That was really big. The
:51:33. > :51:38.crowd is going to give it up for this seven times champion Andy Fite
:51:39. > :51:46.that Raonic Dave. All Milos Raonic's family and friends and supporters
:51:47. > :51:51.have time to savour. But perhaps the light is fading on this great man's
:51:52. > :51:56.career, Federer. He will be back again to try, I am sure, but not
:51:57. > :52:10.today. But Centre Court loves him still.
:52:11. > :52:20.It is hard to take for a great champion, but Milos Raonic again is
:52:21. > :52:25.through to his first Grand Slam final and it will be here at
:52:26. > :52:29.Wimbledon. He is all smiles and signatures and off to prepare for
:52:30. > :52:36.Sunday. What will you tell him after that performance? Amazing. It was
:52:37. > :52:41.not just his serve commie he showed a lot of heart, he showed a lot of
:52:42. > :52:48.fight. He found another gear which I do not even know he knew he even
:52:49. > :52:54.had. He had some quality shots. Incredible volleys, huge forehands,
:52:55. > :53:03.you name it, he put it all together at the right moment. A proud code in
:53:04. > :53:07.here and it will be Milos Raonic on Sunday against either Andy Murray or
:53:08. > :53:11.Tomas Berdych. No further for Roger Federer. It ends in five sets
:53:12. > :53:15.against Milos Raonic. Let's get the thoughts of the winner.
:53:16. > :53:21.Many congratulations, you are through to the final. Despite your
:53:22. > :53:27.emotions, you have beaten a great champion today. It was an incredible
:53:28. > :53:31.comeback, I was struggling in the third and fourth set, he was playing
:53:32. > :53:35.some good tennis. Just on a little opening and managed to turn it
:53:36. > :53:39.around and finished off a great match. What impact will this have at
:53:40. > :53:46.home? You either first Canadian man to reach a Grand Slam final. It will
:53:47. > :53:50.be a great impact if I can win, so that is what I have to focus on
:53:51. > :53:55.first and hopefully it will have a great impact. Your mother and father
:53:56. > :54:01.are sitting in the box and watching the matches and in the semifinal
:54:02. > :54:06.they look so calm. Yes, they are not. I am sure they will be taking a
:54:07. > :54:11.little nap right now to ease off their emotions. I am sure I will as
:54:12. > :54:16.well. But it is a great feeling to play in my first final. You have a
:54:17. > :54:21.great coaching team and have added John McEnroe to it. What sort of
:54:22. > :54:26.influence has he had? What he told me today, go out there and leave it
:54:27. > :54:32.all out there. I showed a lot of emotion and I was always positive. I
:54:33. > :54:37.had not won my best matches in my history and that is what made the
:54:38. > :54:42.difference. And his experience on final state coming he will give you
:54:43. > :54:47.some nuggets that will help? I hope so. He gave me plenty of help today,
:54:48. > :54:53.so did Carlos, most of them winning slams and playing in a lot of
:54:54. > :54:59.semifinals. Between now and Sunday, how would you handle the emotion?
:55:00. > :55:05.Try to sort of push it down and enjoy the moment and really focus on
:55:06. > :55:10.the task at hand. I am by no means done. It will give me something to
:55:11. > :55:16.keep my eye line on and my site on and I will try to progress. And Andy
:55:17. > :55:21.Murray in the final, if it is him, promises to be an intriguing match.
:55:22. > :55:26.Yes, we played at Queen's a few weeks ago and I told him that I
:55:27. > :55:31.hoped I could get a rematch. But either way, I have but to prepare
:55:32. > :55:36.myself and do the best I can. Well done.
:55:37. > :55:41.Thank you very much. SUE BARKER: It was all Federer towards the end of
:55:42. > :55:45.the fourth set and then Milos Raonic got a sniff of a chance and he took
:55:46. > :55:49.it and on the big serve, the big forehand, it was all working for him
:55:50. > :55:56.and Federer had no answer in the fifth and final set. Maybe that five
:55:57. > :56:00.set match against Marin Cilic did affect him. But you cannot take
:56:01. > :56:05.anything away from Milos Raonic who won the big points and he is through
:56:06. > :56:10.to his first ever Grand Slam final and it is here at Wimbledon. Coach
:56:11. > :56:14.Carlos Moya and John McEnroe will be delighted with their man. He is
:56:15. > :56:27.through to the Wimbledon final on Sunday. So, Centre Court awaits and
:56:28. > :56:32.the hill awaits as well, because next on court Tomas Berdych walks on
:56:33. > :56:36.court to take on Britain's number one, Andy Murray. He is the
:56:37. > :56:41.favourite, the man with the highest ranking in the draw. Before we talk
:56:42. > :56:52.about this match, let's show you his route to the final.
:56:53. > :57:00.Never lost an opening match at Wimbledon, Andy Murray. This could
:57:01. > :57:09.be the first of seven. Job done for Andy Murray in straight sets.
:57:10. > :57:18.That is beautiful. He is a master, but even by his standards that was
:57:19. > :57:33.something special. What a wonderful tennis rally,
:57:34. > :57:40.Murray coming out on top. Smoothly through the first week of this
:57:41. > :57:46.year's Wimbledon. The most eagerly anticipated confrontation of
:57:47. > :57:53.Wimbledon 2016. Nick Kyrgios is really on the ropes now. Clinical
:57:54. > :57:59.and he is a quarterfinalist yet again. He is getting his engine
:58:00. > :58:07.running here. He has not lost a set at this Championships yet. That is
:58:08. > :58:12.why. Murray does the hours. He is not out of this match yet.
:58:13. > :58:17.Extraordinary physical power, we are going the distance on Centre Court.
:58:18. > :58:26.What a return. And that is it. A victory for willpower.
:58:27. > :58:30.SUE BARKER: Murray showing all his competitive spirit saying, I am not
:58:31. > :58:35.going to lose this match. First of all, your reaction to what we saw
:58:36. > :58:41.just now. Roger Federer looked like he was a game away from getting back
:58:42. > :58:45.to the locker in the fourth set. He had a lot of opportunities, but he
:58:46. > :58:51.was not able to get that break and then he played a loose game from
:58:52. > :58:57.40-0 up when it was 5-6 in the fourth set. But Milos Raonic stuck
:58:58. > :59:03.at it and he kept playing big and he passed really well on big, important
:59:04. > :59:08.points. We talked about how would Milos Raonic react in those crucial
:59:09. > :59:13.moments. The answer is very well. As Leighton was saying, when you have
:59:14. > :59:19.got a serve like that, if you have not got a break of serve, it is very
:59:20. > :59:24.difficult. Although Federer was up 2-1, unless he was able to get that
:59:25. > :59:27.break or a tie-break, he was not in control of the match and he played a
:59:28. > :59:33.couple of loose points to suddenly lose the fourth set and then he was
:59:34. > :59:38.behind, serving second in the fifth set. All credit to Milos Raonic who
:59:39. > :59:41.has played incredibly. He played well at Queen's and he has
:59:42. > :59:46.maintained that form at Wimbledon and he will be a threat to who ever
:59:47. > :59:53.he plays in the final. He has got the big serve, but he played some
:59:54. > :59:56.great forehands. I thought he would have hit easy passes, but he had
:59:57. > :00:01.Roger on the full stretch and write to the end he kept playing his game
:00:02. > :00:08.plan and did not sway away from that at all, even after losing the second
:00:09. > :00:11.and third sets. McEnroe was saying, he is not mixing up the serve
:00:12. > :00:15.enough, almost coaching him from the commentary box.
:00:16. > :00:22.What he did well was use the body serve, because Federer, like Murray,
:00:23. > :00:27.is good on the stretch at blocking the ball back, but at 140 mph
:00:28. > :00:32.straight at you, that is difficult to return. His serving has been
:00:33. > :00:36.absolutely amazing, it will be a cornerstone of his game want any
:00:37. > :00:47.sevens, certainly on grass. You know Federer will make no excuses at all,
:00:48. > :00:52.but having the trainer had, maybe the five set match against Cilic was
:00:53. > :00:56.taking a toll. It probably did, he has not played a lot of tennis
:00:57. > :01:02.throughout this year, he pulled out of the French Open, has not played a
:01:03. > :01:05.lot of big matches. There will be questions about how he bounced back
:01:06. > :01:10.from the match against Cilic, that could have been the difference.
:01:11. > :01:18.Losing his first-ever Wimbledon semifinal, and emotional wave as he
:01:19. > :01:21.left court. There were a lot of disappointed fans when we came out,
:01:22. > :01:25.people could not quite believe what they had seen, just assuming that he
:01:26. > :01:30.would get through that match. As is the case after a really long match,
:01:31. > :01:35.a lot of people want to go and get some fresh air, get a jig, go to the
:01:36. > :01:43.bathroom, and Murray coming out. JB match, I hope everyone will get back
:01:44. > :01:47.in quickly. -- coming out for such a big match. There was not much
:01:48. > :01:51.applause at all, they are not wasting any time, here comes Tomas
:01:52. > :02:08.Berdych and Andy Murray. CHEERING AND APPLAUSE
:02:09. > :02:14.And you just know, Tim, everyone to miss thinking, all he has got to do
:02:15. > :02:17.is beat Tomas Berdych and Milos Raonic and he is Wimbledon champion
:02:18. > :02:22.again, it sounds easy! -- everyone at home is thinking.
:02:23. > :02:27.Some were thinking that after Djokovic had lost the tournament, it
:02:28. > :02:31.was his turn to win, but that is the last thing that Andy will be
:02:32. > :02:35.thinking, he understands, as the matches move on, they will get
:02:36. > :02:39.harder, and Tomas Berdych has been a Wimbledon finalist in the past, he
:02:40. > :02:43.has got a big grass court game, he knows he has to perform, and Murray
:02:44. > :02:49.has been playing exceptionally well, and I expect him to come through
:02:50. > :02:54.this. He has also got the belief, he has beaten Federer and Djokovic
:02:55. > :02:58.here. He probably has not been playing his best tennis throughout
:02:59. > :03:01.the year, he had a really nice draw leading through to get to the
:03:02. > :03:07.semifinals as well, but he has such a dangerous game, and he can really
:03:08. > :03:14.push guys, because he generates so much easy power from both the
:03:15. > :03:18.forehand and the backhand. Murray has been protected, playing under
:03:19. > :03:22.the roof on Centre Court, but Tomas has been playing everywhere, in the
:03:23. > :03:26.rain and in the darkness, he has done it the hard way. That first
:03:27. > :03:30.week, if you were not on Centre Court, it was difficult, so many
:03:31. > :03:38.interruptions, having to come and return to complete matches on the
:03:39. > :03:42.second day. The match against Jiri Vesely was really important, they
:03:43. > :03:46.stopped at 2-2, he came back to win the fifth. He will be delighted
:03:47. > :03:50.where he is at right now, he probably comes into this match with
:03:51. > :03:55.much less pressure and expectation and Andy Murray. He is a dangerous
:03:56. > :03:59.player, as we talked about. He played four days in a row, then he
:04:00. > :04:04.played Lucas Pouille, and he will have been pleased to get that done
:04:05. > :04:08.quickly, he has caught up. It was an important win for him, he was meant
:04:09. > :04:12.to win that, the quarterfinal of a slam, not one of the big three or
:04:13. > :04:17.four players for a change. Normally he was the guy who would have to
:04:18. > :04:20.come up against one of the top four guys, always the underdog, so he
:04:21. > :04:25.will enjoy coming out in the semifinals. He is over 30 now, he
:04:26. > :04:29.senses this could be a really big opportunity to make another
:04:30. > :04:35.Wimbledon final, and the possibility of playing Milos Raonic in the final
:04:36. > :04:48.now. When you look at the head Murray has won the last four, Tomas
:04:49. > :04:53.has only won one of one set. Murray has a record of 13-2 against Tsonga,
:04:54. > :04:58.and I was surprised at the success that Murray has got against Berdych,
:04:59. > :05:04.it suggests he can take the racquet out of his hand, he has got such
:05:05. > :05:08.firepower, he serves huge, six foot five, such a keen ball striker, hits
:05:09. > :05:14.it flat, really gets the ball to go through the court. If Murray were to
:05:15. > :05:18.get a little passive, get behind the baseline, that is when Berdych can
:05:19. > :05:22.have an impact. We were talking about the Murray second serve
:05:23. > :05:26.earlier in the programme, how will that be a factor against Tomas?
:05:27. > :05:33.Murray will definitely go after it, I saw it at the Aussie Open, it was
:05:34. > :05:39.an important shot for him, to try to get the initiative on Andy's serve,
:05:40. > :05:42.taking control of the point. Movement, they are so different,
:05:43. > :05:46.Andy moves on so well from the back of the court, but Tomas can get
:05:47. > :05:51.wrong-footed, and on grass court he can get the ball in behind him. Andy
:05:52. > :06:00.will try to get the angles, TPIM on the run the whole time. Very much
:06:01. > :06:04.so, if they take the surface out of the equation, that is where Murray
:06:05. > :06:10.has the advantage, he can keep the ball low against the big man. If he
:06:11. > :06:14.can hit behind him, not so good at changing direction, that is where
:06:15. > :06:19.Murray can have a big impact and probably will prove the difference
:06:20. > :06:23.today. And working with Lendl, coming forward more, not his natural
:06:24. > :06:26.game, he likes to be a counterpuncher, but he is convincing
:06:27. > :06:30.himself to do it for the whole match. He has got to keep backing
:06:31. > :06:34.himself, and he did it well against Tsonga, especially when is an get at
:06:35. > :06:40.his second hand off the racquet and went for the sliced option. -- when
:06:41. > :06:45.Tsonga took. It is something he can do a lot more, but it gets tougher
:06:46. > :06:48.as the tournament goes on, when you play better players who can hit
:06:49. > :06:52.winners from anywhere on the court. The approach has got to be good,
:06:53. > :06:57.because Tomas has got a heavy ball, he can pass. We have seen it in
:06:58. > :07:04.doubles as well, how good a volleyer Andy is. I agree with Lleyton, he
:07:05. > :07:08.can use more, he is very comfortable at the net, he has got good
:07:09. > :07:11.technique, he understands where to move to cover the angles. A lot of
:07:12. > :07:15.the time when it comes to the net, he is coming in behind such good
:07:16. > :07:20.approach shots, so it is definitely an option, and it still works well
:07:21. > :07:25.on a grass court. Although he had a few little runs in his match against
:07:26. > :07:29.Tsonga, he seems more focused, such a great competitor, prove that at
:07:30. > :07:33.the beginning of the fifth set. It was positive energy, and it is great
:07:34. > :07:37.for him to let out some of that frustration but not get overwrought,
:07:38. > :07:41.to not keep it in. If he is using it in the right way, it is a great
:07:42. > :07:45.thing for him, he gets the crowd involved. As we saw at the Olympics
:07:46. > :07:49.and when he won the Wimbledon title, that is when he plays his best
:07:50. > :07:54.tennis. He needs to use the crowd, you used to like doing that. The
:07:55. > :07:59.support he has is fantastic, and in a match of this nature it can put
:08:00. > :08:03.pressure on his opponent. Yeah, Berdych has played here many times
:08:04. > :08:09.before, he has been in the final, but this is Murray's home right now.
:08:10. > :08:14.Berdych is 30, as you say, he hates being one of the better players
:08:15. > :08:17.never to have won a Grand Slam. It is a tough one, because he feels
:08:18. > :08:22.like he has not been able to take that next step and be a dominant
:08:23. > :08:28.force, and you see a guy like Stan Wawrinka come past, and when he won
:08:29. > :08:32.at the Australian Open, he beat Tomas any semifinal, and that could
:08:33. > :08:39.have been his chance to win a first major. He certainly wants to try to
:08:40. > :08:43.one before he finishes his career, and if he can beat Andy Murray, play
:08:44. > :08:48.the match of his life, it opens up for him. What will Lendl have been
:08:49. > :08:52.telling Andy Murray today? He has got to get as many balls back in
:08:53. > :08:55.play as he can off the return of serve, and when he can neutralise
:08:56. > :09:00.the play from the back of the court, he has to make Berdych MOOC. Any
:09:01. > :09:04.time that Berdych is getting his feet planted, that is when he can
:09:05. > :09:11.make life difficult for Murray. If he can get him moving, uses variety,
:09:12. > :09:17.that is where he will have an impact. Get him off balance. As much
:09:18. > :09:22.as possible, and moving forward will be important. Tomas does not defend
:09:23. > :09:27.well, especially out of his backhand corner, he wants to get two hands on
:09:28. > :09:31.his racquet. That is going to be an important play. Put pressure on his
:09:32. > :09:36.second serve as well, sometimes it can get a little shaky in big
:09:37. > :09:44.moments. Lovely watching Ivan and Jayme Doll guard up, as soon as the
:09:45. > :09:48.handshake was gone, he was off! And other important aspect is that it is
:09:49. > :09:54.windy, and Berdych has a very high ball toss, which is not easy to
:09:55. > :09:58.control,. If he is to get second serves, that is where Murray can put
:09:59. > :10:03.pressure on and make him feel how difficult it is to serve. Everyone
:10:04. > :10:08.from the UK is used to blustery conditions! He is one of the best at
:10:09. > :10:12.it. Thank you very much, they are on their way to the commentary box for
:10:13. > :10:17.the semifinal, Milos Raonic is the blue, who will meet him in the
:10:18. > :10:21.final, Murray or Berdych? Over to Andrew Castle.
:10:22. > :10:25.Suit, thank you very much indeed, such a buzz around here after the
:10:26. > :10:31.first semifinal, and now these players will feel, Andy Murray being
:10:32. > :10:35.made to wait after a Federer classic, coming out second best this
:10:36. > :10:40.time, and now Tomas Berdych having a crack at Andy Murray, who has been
:10:41. > :10:43.the favourite for quite some time to win these championships after Sam
:10:44. > :10:51.Querrey defeated Novak Djokovic, the holder of all four Grand Slams.
:10:52. > :10:56.Australia, France, Wimbledon, USA simultaneously. Ivan Lendl has been
:10:57. > :11:02.a captivating story for the British press, Andy Murray announcing the
:11:03. > :11:13.Irvin land as his coach once again the day before Queen's Club. -- and
:11:14. > :11:19.housing Ivan Lendl. He was tested against Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, emerging
:11:20. > :11:23.into the semifinal to play Tomas Berdych. Approaching five o'clock,
:11:24. > :11:27.then, Friday evening, I hope you have had a great week, settle down
:11:28. > :11:37.with us and enjoy this semifinal at Wimbledon!
:11:38. > :13:03.First set, Andy Murray to serve. Ready? Play.
:13:04. > :13:08.The Speaker of the House on the left, John Bercow, a decent tennis
:13:09. > :15:04.player, Essex number one in his youth.
:15:05. > :15:11.So, gentlemen, the most pressing question is, how do we say Berdych?
:15:12. > :15:21.We have to be united on this! I have asked him how to say it, but I think
:15:22. > :15:30.it may be beyond us! Berdych? Berdych. Sounds good. Berdych?
:15:31. > :15:44.Berdych, done! Thomas Toure to serve! -- Tomas to serve! There we
:15:45. > :16:26.go, backed up by the Brazilian presence in the chair.
:16:27. > :16:33.For me, that is a classic point, that is what makes Andy Murray so
:16:34. > :16:38.good. We have already seen, three times in the first two games, he has
:16:39. > :16:41.gone for almost a sliced continental forehand, getting that one extra
:16:42. > :16:46.shot back, the wind playing a little bit of havoc for Berdych, Andy with
:16:47. > :16:59.a real opportunity early here. I think it also emphasised the
:17:00. > :17:04.difference in movement, Murray so good on the stretch, on the run,
:17:05. > :17:05.using his hand skills, whereas Berdych was struggling to change
:17:06. > :18:16.direction. Page one of the Berdych playbook,
:18:17. > :18:20.anything short, anything in the middle of the court, surely it will
:18:21. > :18:42.get the treatment. Second break point.
:18:43. > :18:53.And that is pressure telling, first break of serve, a 28th break in a
:18:54. > :19:00.tournament for Andy Murray. He does exert pressure. Carrying on where he
:19:01. > :19:01.left off in Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in that classic quarterfinal on
:19:02. > :19:29.Wednesday evening. 2-0. You can see how dangerous Berdych is
:19:30. > :19:33.when he gets time and he is set, both forehand and backhand he
:19:34. > :21:43.generates such easy power. Comfortable moving forward as well.
:21:44. > :21:50.One-way traffic so far, Andy Murray winning the big points in this match
:21:51. > :22:37.so far, early days. Hits its flat, doesn't he, Berdych?
:22:38. > :22:40.Comes through the court. Did well to stay in that rally, Murray was
:22:41. > :23:05.dictating play, he slipped at one stage, but Tomas Berdych...
:23:06. > :23:15.Too big, too deep. Powerful groundstrokes from the back of the
:23:16. > :23:21.court, great footwork to get in position to hit the off forehand,
:23:22. > :23:30.just inches inside the baseline. Giving himself a break point. 101
:23:31. > :23:48.mph on the forehand. I struggle to serve that fast!
:23:49. > :23:59.Well done, Tomas Berdych, from the Czech Republic, really well done,
:24:00. > :24:05.because he was looking like a goner quite early in this set, hung in and
:24:06. > :24:09.won it. The trouble is, you have got to hold serve against Andy Murray,
:24:10. > :24:13.and you know when you go out there, it is not going to be easy. I have
:24:14. > :24:19.got a graphic, I know you cannot reduce tennis matches to stats, but
:24:20. > :24:23.cast your eye over this. Down the right-hand side, the four
:24:24. > :24:30.semifinalists, return starts coming into the semifinals. We know Roger
:24:31. > :24:36.has now gone. Second return points won, on the second serve, 65% for
:24:37. > :24:42.Murray, unbelievable. Those numbers don't surprise me at all, the two
:24:43. > :24:45.best returners in the world, Andy Murray and Novak Djokovic, so out of
:24:46. > :24:49.the four left in the semifinals, that is one of his biggest
:24:50. > :24:55.strengths, making guys play that extra ball.
:24:56. > :25:01.But he will be very disappointed to have lost the initiative when he had
:25:02. > :25:06.it. That is right, Murray was often a fast starter, coming out, timing
:25:07. > :25:11.the ball well. As you rightly said, all credits to Berdych, he was
:25:12. > :25:15.nearly down 3-0, which would not have been the ideal start, but
:25:16. > :25:20.played a couple of impressive points, back on serve. But certainly
:25:21. > :25:27.early days. The crowd filtering back in after the first semifinal. They
:25:28. > :25:30.will do that over the first two or three service games, a very light
:25:31. > :25:38.refreshment for a Friday evening, the lady there! -- very large. Two
:25:39. > :26:42.breaks in the first three games. And and Martin, Tomas Berdych's
:26:43. > :26:58.parents. -- Hannah. He is a former train engineer, she is a doctor.
:26:59. > :27:10.Very nice. Not something that he is known for, great touch. He is moving
:27:11. > :27:13.forward extremely well so far, both boys have started extremely well
:27:14. > :27:17.here, some heavy hitting from the back of the court, but took the
:27:18. > :27:19.initiative, moving forward, playing a great volley, soft hands to play
:27:20. > :27:42.from well below the net. Wow... There you go, there is Tomas
:27:43. > :29:11.Berdych in action right there, bang, bang.
:29:12. > :29:18.A model of consistency over the years, Tomas Berdych from the Czech
:29:19. > :29:25.Republic, 30 years of age, ranked number nine, number four last year.
:29:26. > :29:30.His year end rankings, six, seven, six, seven, seven, six. Is this the
:29:31. > :30:00.Wimbledon that he can win? Both of the players' parents are
:30:01. > :30:21.here. The first ace of the match, 18
:30:22. > :30:45.minutes in. He must be so proud of both the
:30:46. > :31:37.boys. Tomas Berdych, breakthrough or not
:31:38. > :31:43.at this stage. In many ways he has been unlucky to have been in this
:31:44. > :31:48.era with Djokovic, Federer and Rafael Nadal. He beat Federer and
:31:49. > :31:52.Djokovic in 2010 at Wimbledon and then Rafael Nadal chewed him up in
:31:53. > :31:58.the final. He looked like, I have got all the way to the final in that
:31:59. > :32:03.match. A model of consistency. He certainly is and as you reflected in
:32:04. > :32:08.his year end ranking he has played in the big event, but there has
:32:09. > :32:16.always been one of the big four to take him out at the latter stages.
:32:17. > :32:21.As both players will be aware, Milos Raonic in the final, it is a huge
:32:22. > :32:27.opportunity. They have both come out here and after 19 minutes of play
:32:28. > :32:30.there is no easing into it, they are hitting Top Gear already and the
:32:31. > :32:35.quality of tennis is there already to be seen. I remember Jimmy Connors
:32:36. > :32:43.reading notes from his mother Gloria out on court. I then maybe a couple
:32:44. > :32:47.of reminders? Yes, and he has done it over the last couple of years.
:32:48. > :32:54.And he did at the change of ends as well. You would have thought he
:32:55. > :32:59.would have a game plan in his mind. Evander Lendl and Delgado would have
:33:00. > :33:03.been through every scenario that could possibly happen when they knew
:33:04. > :33:48.that they would be facing Tomas Berdych. He is a brilliant actor.
:33:49. > :33:57.It is that middle section of the court that Murray cannot drop the
:33:58. > :33:58.ball into, certainly with any pace because Tomas Berdych can really do
:33:59. > :34:45.some damage. This was not a bad play by Andy,
:34:46. > :34:49.trying to bring Berdych forward and take him out of his comfort zone.
:34:50. > :34:52.His hands are not as good as Andy Murray's around the net. He just
:34:53. > :36:10.over a hit that chipped law. One of the great baddies! It is an
:36:11. > :36:13.amazing stage, the Centre Court. They are on their best behaviour at
:36:14. > :36:29.the moment, nothing particularly raucous.
:36:30. > :36:35.Have a look how low Andy Murray stays to hit this pass. Great racket
:36:36. > :37:10.head control. It is noticeable that for the first
:37:11. > :37:12.25 minute of this match how Berdych is not hanging about. He is very
:37:13. > :37:42.happy hitting ground all day long. And in the context of this match,
:37:43. > :37:47.how important do you think the first step is for Berdych? I feel it
:37:48. > :37:51.Murray were to lose it, I could still see the recovery. If Berdych
:37:52. > :38:21.was to lose it, I think it would be an uphill battle.
:38:22. > :38:28.I think you are absolutely spot on, Tim. That is why Andy was so
:38:29. > :38:33.frustrated with himself because he got off to such a good start, having
:38:34. > :38:37.game points to consolidate that early break and there was a lot of
:38:38. > :38:56.positive energy. He let Tomas back into this first set.
:38:57. > :39:08.UMPIRE: New balls, please. One thing I was looking out for, Leighton, in
:39:09. > :39:13.this match was how hard Tomas Berdych would be hitting the ball.
:39:14. > :39:17.The temptation to over press can be there when you want something to
:39:18. > :39:23.happen really badly. I have picked out some average forehand speeds.
:39:24. > :39:29.Very consistent. We will keep monitoring that. It feels to me like
:39:30. > :39:36.he is hitting the ball harder now than he has in these other matches.
:39:37. > :39:43.The match against Jiri Vesely, which went the distance, was huge. He has
:39:44. > :39:50.been on court for 13 hours. Murray's forehand speeds are considerably
:39:51. > :39:57.lower than that. Eight, nine, ten miles an hour less. Actually four
:39:58. > :40:05.miles an hour less in the last few rounds. But he has been going for it
:40:06. > :40:10.as well. In the draw the matches get harder and he feels like he has to
:40:11. > :40:15.step it up. He cannot leave it sitting in the middle of the court
:40:16. > :40:20.for his opponent. He will try and mix it up as much as possible, using
:40:21. > :40:25.all the spins, but he cannot let this guy gets set at all. And when
:40:26. > :40:32.you are talking about small martyrs, you are looking at the final half
:40:33. > :40:32.percent. For miles an hour is probably quite a significant
:40:33. > :42:31.difference. You talk about the movement aspects
:42:32. > :42:37.of Berdych, it is also the defensive skills. When he is the balance he is
:42:38. > :43:07.using the sliced to stay in the point.
:43:08. > :43:16.And Andy Murray staying in and stayed aggressive on the second
:43:17. > :43:20.serve. In the second game he was able to draw a double fault because
:43:21. > :43:50.of it. The second serve, get it back in
:43:51. > :43:56.play, goal number one. He will be disappointed with that. It is very
:43:57. > :44:34.unusual to see Andy Murray miss second serve returns.
:44:35. > :44:45.He has pulled that wide from the forehand side and once again Murray
:44:46. > :44:52.edges ahead. Everyone on their feet, physios and trainers. The team
:44:53. > :44:59.members are delighted with that. And for all of Berdych's ball striking
:45:00. > :45:04.skills, how powerfully where he can hit the ball, in the big point there
:45:05. > :45:08.is very little margin for error. Looking to be aggressive, but
:45:09. > :45:26.missing the spot. Giving Murray the break to serve out the first set.
:45:27. > :45:32.It is a credit to Andy Murray's movement as well because he makes
:45:33. > :45:37.the Court feel so small for his opponents because of his defensive
:45:38. > :45:38.skills. He gets so many balls back they feel like they have got to
:45:39. > :46:55.paint the lines to get it past him. Mum and dad Berdych with their
:46:56. > :47:17.daughter-in-law Esther. Married 51 weeks ago. In the town hall.
:47:18. > :47:22.Errors are flowing from the Berdych racket. Murray asks the question
:47:23. > :47:33.again and again. The second semifinal here at
:47:34. > :47:53.Wimbledon. It is a very tidy set of tennis from
:47:54. > :48:00.Andy Murray. He lost his serve at once, but he was never behind.
:48:01. > :48:05.Closing it out with his second ace. This is now going to be a very tough
:48:06. > :48:11.afternoon for Tomas Berdych. One feels the match on Wednesday with
:48:12. > :48:13.Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, the quarterfinal, there is more
:48:14. > :48:20.versatility in Jo-Wilfried Tsonga's game. How is he going to convince
:48:21. > :48:25.himself that he is going to win this match? It is a fine line, he has to
:48:26. > :48:29.get the balance right because he has the ability to generate the power.
:48:30. > :48:37.But in the last couple of games he can make unforced errors if he gets
:48:38. > :48:42.too passive. If he over oppresses and makes mistakes, that is not
:48:43. > :48:49.going to work. One of the telling stats was the one would just put up,
:48:50. > :48:53.13 unforced errors to one. That is the difference between these guys.
:48:54. > :48:57.You can see Andy Murray going through the game plan again. It will
:48:58. > :49:01.be written down on a piece of paper in his bag. So far it is even
:49:02. > :49:06.surprising how many times Andy Murray has gone for the sliced
:49:07. > :49:10.forehand, try and get it in play and keep it as low as possible for the
:49:11. > :49:17.big Tomas Berdych to get to the ball. Berdych is trying to press, he
:49:18. > :49:23.has been to the net 14 times and has won ten of them. He has done well
:49:24. > :49:32.with that. I suspect he will continue to see anything short as
:49:33. > :49:37.fair game. Tomas Berdych, 52 consecutive Grand Slams in a row
:49:38. > :49:43.after making his debut in the 2003 US Open. He has been a finalist at
:49:44. > :49:49.Wimbledon and a semifinalist at the others. He has got to win three out
:49:50. > :49:54.of four set against Andy Murray here to make another final. That is one
:49:55. > :49:59.thing you need, more first serves. He is only on 50% at the moment and
:50:00. > :50:02.you cannot give one of the best returners in the world a look at too
:50:03. > :51:01.many second serves. That is his classic 1-2. But can he
:51:02. > :51:06.realistically do it for three sets TRACY AUSTIN: You think it is
:51:07. > :51:23.impossible. It is unlikely. Hawk-Eye came an in 2007 and
:51:24. > :51:26.replaced Cyclops. You get three challenges and if you are right, you
:51:27. > :51:32.maintain your challenges at that number. Tomas Berdych maintains his
:51:33. > :51:57.three challenges. If you are wrong, you lose one.
:51:58. > :52:04.Both these players will be in action for their respective nations. It is
:52:05. > :52:09.the Czech Republic versus brands in the quarterfinal of the Davis Cup
:52:10. > :52:19.coming up. He is twice a winner in the Davis Cup in 2012 and 2013.
:52:20. > :52:23.Radek Stepanek was alongside him, representing his country at the
:52:24. > :52:30.Olympic Games. Alongside Andy will be Jamie Murray. They will be
:52:31. > :52:39.playing Serbia. We have got that on television and on radio. The 15th
:52:40. > :52:40.and the 17th of July. They will not be grieving totally on Sunday night
:52:41. > :53:07.when this festival is over. I am afraid that is going to go down
:53:08. > :53:16.as potentially the worst miss of the Championships. It is a big call, but
:53:17. > :53:21.there was a huge opportunity here. He did so well coming forward and he
:53:22. > :53:24.got the net cord. That was an average lob by Andy Murray's
:53:25. > :53:30.standards, but he just missed this, he was off balance all the time.
:53:31. > :54:38.That is number one. Maybe I am being unfair!
:54:39. > :54:45.Quite often we talk about Andy Murray's second serve. He is serving
:54:46. > :54:50.over 70% first serves, so he is not giving Tomas Berdych many
:54:51. > :54:54.opportunities to look at it, but he has not been hurt by the second
:54:55. > :54:58.serve because he is hitting into the body. Berdych has not been able to
:54:59. > :56:33.get out of the way. Tomas Berdych is on the run. His
:56:34. > :56:34.seven semifinal at Wimbledon. But Andy Murray is so experienced in
:56:35. > :57:08.these situations. Quite happy to take his time on that
:57:09. > :57:15.one and make sure he didn't make the stupid, unforced error. Bjorn Borg
:57:16. > :57:29.might have made an unforced error once or twice, I can't remember
:57:30. > :57:32.many! In fact Andy Murray is tied on 51 Wimbledon victories with the
:57:33. > :57:41.great man, with his wife Patricia there. Bjorn Borg only lost four
:57:42. > :57:50.times in total. In 81 when he beat corners in the semifinal he picked
:57:51. > :57:54.up his 41st and last victory. Before you were born, Lleyton! I might have
:57:55. > :58:17.been six months old. I came to watch that year, the first
:58:18. > :58:23.time I ever came to Wimbledon, and I watched Bjorn Borg play first round.
:58:24. > :58:29.Wye who did he play? Give me a couple of minutes. 41 wins in a row
:58:30. > :58:53.until he lost to McEnroe. Lleyton, how is it being Davis Cup
:58:54. > :58:59.captain? Congratulations on that appointment. Are you not selecting
:59:00. > :59:04.yourself for doubles or anything? Not again. It has been a lot of fun
:59:05. > :59:09.so far. It is totally different working with these guys, but we have
:59:10. > :59:18.a good crop of young guys coming through. One of the kid is out with
:59:19. > :59:24.a shoulder injury, but he should be coming back. Jordan Thompson has got
:59:25. > :59:27.quite a high ranking. But I am passionate about Australian tennis
:59:28. > :59:32.and trying to help that mixed group coming through. You can see the
:59:33. > :59:39.outside courts and Henman Hill. Do they still call it, mate? What else
:59:40. > :59:43.are they going to call it? I spent a lot of time watching another young
:59:44. > :59:46.Australian who is through to the boys Wimbledon junior final on
:59:47. > :59:52.Sunday, so we have got some promising young kids coming through.
:59:53. > :59:56.It is nice to have a look. Tim can tell me better, but both these guys
:59:57. > :00:01.had really good junior careers. I remember you telling me in the
:00:02. > :00:06.locker room that Great Britain had this kid coming out, Andy Murray, he
:00:07. > :00:10.will be this handy. Did you think he would be this good? I always knew he
:00:11. > :00:16.would be very special, especially when he beat you in San Jose for his
:00:17. > :00:21.first title. No, what he has gone on to achieve has been incredible. I do
:00:22. > :00:25.not think it is that easy to predict certainly the magnitude and the
:00:26. > :00:30.level. I knew he would be a top ten or a top five player who had the
:00:31. > :00:42.opportunity to win slams, but he is doing all right.
:00:43. > :01:04.Andrew, is Rennert. Peter? Get back on the search engine!
:01:05. > :01:42.Did he serve first? He was wearing a cool Filape outfit. -- Fila.
:01:43. > :01:50.How awesome is this! Not a bad drop volley here, but how Andy Murray,
:01:51. > :01:54.sprinting forward, can still keep his racket head so steady to push it
:01:55. > :02:13.down the line, really guided up the far side line.
:02:14. > :02:21.Par, this is good, this defence that we are seeing from Murray today is
:02:22. > :02:26.out of this world. And when he was pulled wide off the big forehand
:02:27. > :02:31.return, the ability to come two three paces over, that is training,
:02:32. > :03:06.as well as control, wonderful to watch.
:03:07. > :03:11.The weather has been getting steadily clearer, and the breeze has
:03:12. > :03:18.dropped over the last few minutes, so feeling a bit warmer. Into happy
:03:19. > :03:27.hour nicely here. Approaching six o'clock.
:03:28. > :03:37.Two for the price of one? In 12 minutes' time!
:03:38. > :03:41.Or one for the price of two? Some might say that about the prices
:03:42. > :04:09.here! Murray trying to take the second
:04:10. > :04:15.serve early, but when you see the return land in the middle of the
:04:16. > :04:35.court, he is really out of position, and Berdych able to take advantage.
:04:36. > :04:43.That was a great change of pace first serve, only one and four miles
:04:44. > :04:46.per hour, but right into the body of Murray. It is like cricket,
:04:47. > :04:48.sometimes the slower deliveries, once you have been facing the
:04:49. > :06:23.quicker ones, are more difficult. This is clever tennis, he tried this
:06:24. > :06:27.a couple of times earlier in the first set. It didn't quite work, but
:06:28. > :06:31.he has got such good hands to play that drop shot and bring Berdych
:06:32. > :06:32.forward, make him feel uncomfortable, he is not coming in
:06:33. > :07:44.on his terms. Roger Federer was up 40-0 at the end
:07:45. > :07:52.of the first set, and that proved pretty costly, Tomas Berdych was
:07:53. > :07:55.40-0 up at in this game, now facing break point.
:07:56. > :08:30.UMPIRE: Let, first service. Ivan Lendl used to have an
:08:31. > :08:36.enormously high ball toss, watch how high Berdych throws it up, a peak of
:08:37. > :08:58.about 4.4 metres, really stretches it up, drags it down into the net.
:08:59. > :09:41.Murray is like a limp but on these return games. -- limpet.
:09:42. > :09:50.That is what he needed to come up with, just to get to his advantage.
:09:51. > :09:52.He had 40-0 earlier in this game, then Murray's second serve returns
:09:53. > :10:07.were very crisp as the game went on. Oh, how was that, right on the line,
:10:08. > :10:20.beautiful touch. I think he wanted to volley it, but
:10:21. > :10:25.just feathered it on the backhand half-volley and onto the line.
:10:26. > :10:30.Berdych escapes, break point saved, he will be happy with that. Just
:10:31. > :10:36.under an hour played, once said to Andy Murray, on serve in the second.
:10:37. > :10:42.Shall we see who is in the Royal box today?
:10:43. > :10:55.I am not the wiser! Oh, that is Diana Carney and Mark Carney, the

:11:22. > :11:27.Tomas Berdych has played badly here, he has come out with the right game

:11:38. > :11:46.He will look to create opportunities and Murray's serve. Murray has 65%

:11:59. > :12:09.lost ten points in the match on his serve so far, Murray.
:12:10. > :12:17.Most of those were in one game when he got broken back as well, in the
:12:18. > :12:24.first set. What a sight, 15,000 people enjoying
:12:25. > :13:13.this second semifinal. You have played at there and at
:13:14. > :13:18.times, Lleyton, I was out looking this morning, and that the northern
:13:19. > :13:21.end, where Berdych is out at the moment, it is much more worn than
:13:22. > :13:48.the other end, and I can't quite work out why.
:13:49. > :14:00.Oh, he did well there! I am not sure he could make many out of ten, but
:14:01. > :14:09.he handled it well. An angled shot, two handed half-volley bunt. Not in

:14:28. > :14:28.tougher balls to play at the end where Tomas Berdych is returning
:14:29. > :14:53.from at the moment. Certainly not a helpful net cord,
:14:54. > :14:59.and suddenly we have break point and Murray is getting a little chatty.
:15:00. > :15:08.Break points in the previous game, did not break. And now he has to
:15:09. > :15:10.fight one off himself. The opportunity to dictate early on in
:15:11. > :15:56.that rally and did not take it. How bad do you think he wants it? He
:15:57. > :16:27.certainly recognise the importance of that point. Good aggressive play.
:16:28. > :16:34.He knows he has his man on the ropes. He can go up two sets to
:16:35. > :17:17.love. He is really in the driving seat.
:17:18. > :17:26.Ten of 14 going forward. He is still piling forward, sticking with the
:17:27. > :18:45.game plan. Anything you want to say about that
:18:46. > :18:53.shot?! He certainly went straight at it. A little bit of needle. Andy had
:18:54. > :19:40.the chance early on, and did not take it. He might do next time.
:19:41. > :19:49.Tough old game, this one. A real mini battle in the heart of the
:19:50. > :19:57.match. Over seven and a half minutes, this game alone. Both
:19:58. > :20:17.players with a lot invested in this, and the crowd are recognising it.
:20:18. > :20:31.Murray trying to maintain that intensity, but there is a bit of
:20:32. > :20:33.dialogue going back and forth from the box, and that is not always a
:20:34. > :21:16.good sign for Murray. Raking forehand, deep into Berdych's
:21:17. > :21:23.forehand. Got the job done. It is a perfectly played grass court point.
:21:24. > :21:29.After hitting such a good approach shot right in the corner, it just
:21:30. > :21:30.felt like Tomas Berdych is throwing absolutely everything into this. He
:21:31. > :22:07.needs some reward after this game. That is a big hold of serve from
:22:08. > :22:26.Andy Murray. Eight minutes played. What a tough service hold that was.
:22:27. > :22:34.We are staying with the tennis here on BBC One. If you are tuning in,
:22:35. > :22:36.expecting news at six, BBC Two. Here, we are staying with the
:22:37. > :22:57.tennis. He makes that passing shot look so
:22:58. > :22:59.easy. Believe me, it is one of the hardest shots take place of the
:23:00. > :23:42.ball. Great wrist action. It is just relentless from Murray.
:23:43. > :23:46.He did so well to hold onto his service game. Now fully engaged in
:23:47. > :25:09.the next, try and get this important break.
:25:10. > :25:15.It is really amazing that the quality of shots in this round. He
:25:16. > :26:07.got there in the end. The pressure Tadhg Furlong. Murray
:26:08. > :26:19.gets the first break of serve in the second set. -- the pressure telling.
:26:20. > :26:26.You are never going to say that he has not been troubled in this match,
:26:27. > :26:36.but you feel like the control could be Andes. -- Andy's. Of course, in a
:26:37. > :26:42.five set match, there is a design flows. The last ten to 12 minutes,
:26:43. > :26:45.for him to the Beeb and get out of that, you could tell he sent that
:26:46. > :26:52.that was a massive game to hold onto, and then he saw the effects of
:26:53. > :27:00.Tomas Berdych. He got nothing for it. They were still on serve.
:27:01. > :27:14.Second serve points one at break point. 100% Andy. It is very
:27:15. > :27:20.difficult to serve at Andy Murray. When you see the regular statistics
:27:21. > :27:26.of second serve points, and the dominating. When they get into the
:27:27. > :27:31.baseline exchanges, is taken out of the equation. 6.5 out of ten for
:27:32. > :27:37.Andy Murray. That is going to beat the foundation. That is why he is
:27:38. > :27:42.going to go on and win this match. He was very much in control of the
:27:43. > :27:47.match against Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, a different composition that
:27:48. > :27:53.quarterfinal on Wednesday evening. The next thing you know, you had a
:27:54. > :27:54.five set thriller. We will see which way the momentum goes next. At the
:27:55. > :29:42.moment, it is with Murray. 15-15, second serve just broken. You
:29:43. > :29:44.can feel what Tomas Berdych wants to do. But that is a big mistake. That
:29:45. > :30:27.has to go inside the line. It must feel like he is having to
:30:28. > :30:31.hit through a brick wall with Andy Murray's defence. He has to go for
:30:32. > :30:36.something a little bit extra. Even on break point in the previous game,
:30:37. > :30:40.for Tomas Berdych to go for a drop shot, that is not his natural shot.
:30:41. > :30:44.That is what Andy Murray will be feeding on. He is trying to do a lot
:30:45. > :31:01.of different things to try and change this match.
:31:02. > :31:12.Still quite a treat that the ground at the Murray end is more worn out
:31:13. > :32:09.than at the Tomas Berdych end, the Royal box end.
:32:10. > :32:18.A great Scot in the Royal box, and another one playing here come and
:32:19. > :32:23.closing in on eight two set lead here, Andy Murray.
:32:24. > :32:32.And it is awake again. These unforced errors are flowing from the
:32:33. > :32:34.racket. He has had a wonderful tournament, but he can feel it going
:32:35. > :32:39.away from him now. Sixth game of this set. Crucial hold
:32:40. > :33:36.for Andy Murray after eight minutes. Hell be passing shot. Murray is two
:33:37. > :33:43.set up! He looks like he is heading for a third Wimbledon final. Even in
:33:44. > :33:49.the pops out. -- Ivan Lendl pops out. Another piece of history
:33:50. > :34:03.awaits. So cool under pressure. That is
:34:04. > :34:12.brilliant! She has got it. Exhibition performance from Serena
:34:13. > :34:20.Williams. Wow. At the age of 28, she has re-invented herself. She has not
:34:21. > :34:24.got any sympathy for her opponent. The winner in Melbourne, and now the
:34:25. > :34:37.Wimbledon final. SUE BARKER: The ladies final is
:34:38. > :34:42.tomorrow. Angelique Kerber against Serena Williams. She is hoping to
:34:43. > :34:57.match Steffi Graf's record. That is tomorrow, but here on Centre
:34:58. > :35:05.Court, Andy Murray is on his way. ANDREW CASTLE: It does appear that
:35:06. > :35:12.way. I great women's final with Angelique Kerber and Serena
:35:13. > :35:19.Williams. One of Tomas Berdych and Andy Murray. A bit of flag-waving
:35:20. > :35:24.ahead, it would seem. Let us remind ourselves of what does that what
:35:25. > :35:31.against Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, when he was to set up, and then Tsonga found
:35:32. > :35:36.some inspiration. I'm not sure what Murray is talking about. He had a
:35:37. > :35:41.look up at his box there, Jamie Delgadillo back in position, Ivan
:35:42. > :37:22.Lendl has popped out. -- Jamie Delgadillo.
:37:23. > :37:29.It is the accuracy and the unpredictability of the serve. He
:37:30. > :37:33.lost the first point, Murray, a nice parting shot from Tomas Berdych. But
:37:34. > :37:34.just calming going about his business with the tennis balls in
:37:35. > :37:55.his hand. When you are two sets down and won't
:37:56. > :38:02.be in the final Wimbledon and it is not going your way, how it go about
:38:03. > :38:10.this? We saw the statistics. The only Waugh 11%. Going back to the
:38:11. > :38:16.clay-court season, it is the consistency of his intensity.
:38:17. > :38:18.Before, we have seen the peaks and troughs, and the distractions
:38:19. > :38:24.mentally, but he was so good on the plate. It was reflected on his
:38:25. > :38:28.performance, and it is carried on an grass. He is giving Tomas Berdych
:38:29. > :38:40.sewn Doi so few opportunities. That is just gorgeous. He has played
:38:41. > :38:45.this shot so well today, just be able to take that pace and bond it
:38:46. > :38:52.back and put it in such an awkward position to play a half-volley going
:38:53. > :38:56.forward. That is very you shot. I tried a couple of shots! I don't
:38:57. > :39:07.think I hit it nearly as well has him.
:39:08. > :39:15.He played each other in the semifinal here. Let's move on.
:39:16. > :39:23.It was the top-spin lob that was really annoying. What year was that?
:39:24. > :39:41.2002. The big thing it does in an
:39:42. > :39:43.opponent's mind, he's not sure what to go in on. He is paying such an
:39:44. > :40:25.awkward half-volley. If he has. And when you don't want the
:40:26. > :40:27.difficult half volleys, you become more aggressive on the approach shot
:40:28. > :41:09.and he missed that. That is a superb game to get out of.
:41:10. > :41:20.That is a fine hold. He had to win that one. Tomas Berdych lost a match
:41:21. > :41:31.in if the Palis Italy, to love. That's very unusual. Assuming that
:41:32. > :41:32.he did not mean it. He sacked his coach immediately! That's what
:41:33. > :41:50.coaches are for sarcasm Palis(!). He always leaves it out there on
:41:51. > :42:10.every tournament. A very strange result.
:42:11. > :42:39.The coach that Berdych sacked was the one that Andy Murray worked
:42:40. > :42:44.with. That is the essence of the animosity between the camps a few
:42:45. > :42:46.years ago. It manifested itself in a bit of handbags finger at the
:42:47. > :43:27.Australian Open. The press loved it. I was commentating on that match
:43:28. > :43:32.down in Australia. Tomas Berdych was playing the best tennis I had seen
:43:33. > :43:37.in his career. He knocked off Rafael Nadal easily. For the first set, it
:43:38. > :43:41.was some real quality tennis, but Andy Murray just took it up another
:43:42. > :43:46.gear physically. Tomas Berdych was not able to go with them, and they
:43:47. > :43:47.have played three times since then, and it has all been comfortable wins
:43:48. > :44:56.to Andy Murray. Was such an excellent return, into
:44:57. > :45:02.the rough like a spin bowler at this warning up in. Murray did well to
:45:03. > :45:08.handle that. Murray did well to keep the ball back in play, but when
:45:09. > :45:12.Berdych is trying to make an impact, and inexcusable shop to miss. --
:45:13. > :45:28.shot to miss. The first serve of Murray is
:45:29. > :46:25.dropping off and Berdych has to take advantage.
:46:26. > :46:38.Oh! Oh, the return game, before hand. As Tim Henman was saying, it
:46:39. > :46:51.just cannot be missed -- the forehand.
:46:52. > :46:54.Imagine, my boy missing that forehand, how many times have I told
:46:55. > :47:18.him? Had to work for it, a couple of
:47:19. > :47:26.forehand errors, certainly eased the path for Andy Murray to hold and
:47:27. > :47:31.take the 2-1 lead. Have a look at this? Return hit points for Andy
:47:32. > :47:36.Murray and how much pressure he can exert when serving the second, when
:47:37. > :47:43.he has this big leap in, it is always right foot first, then the
:47:44. > :47:48.split, see where he is there? Way inside. That is the second serve,
:47:49. > :47:55.right there, first serve, further back. That is building pressure and
:47:56. > :48:01.that is why he has to double fault on break point. He does it so well,
:48:02. > :48:06.especially on the backhand. You can see it on the second serve, there is
:48:07. > :48:11.nothing that can't go wrong with his backhand return, it is so simple,
:48:12. > :48:15.there is nothing that can break down and he uses that pace and can work
:48:16. > :48:22.with it. He leans into the ball so well. He is getting a lot of pace on
:48:23. > :48:24.the second serve. Murray still looking to be aggressive and taking
:48:25. > :48:51.the ball early. Jude Law is here today and Dominic
:48:52. > :49:24.Cooper, you might have seen as well. That is the shot that he has to be
:49:25. > :49:30.worried about, the forehand is breaking down. The previous game, he
:49:31. > :49:32.got a short one on game point for Murray and he went for the drop shot
:49:33. > :49:52.because he had lost confidence. Imposing his game on the opposition,
:49:53. > :49:57.driving that backhand, as soon as he got Ivan Lendl back on board, day
:49:58. > :50:03.one at Queen's Club, in the first round, he was stepping up to drive
:50:04. > :50:05.it. He came through a tough service game and look to put the pressure on
:50:06. > :50:26.Berdych. Tomas Berdych actually asked Ivan
:50:27. > :50:30.Lendl to coach him and he said he did not want to come back to tennis
:50:31. > :50:56.and then Andy Murray calls and suddenly he did!
:50:57. > :51:04.It is amazing how many times we have Berdych ran into the net, in a
:51:05. > :51:07.dominant position and then Murray use the dexterity, the hand skills
:51:08. > :51:57.to push the ball back into an awkward position.
:51:58. > :52:07.He is well on the way now, Andy Murray, two sets and a break of
:52:08. > :52:15.serve. He is not going to back off now. 29 unforced errors from the
:52:16. > :52:25.Berdych racquet, just the six from Andy Murray.
:52:26. > :53:10.We had Sir Alex Ferguson earlier on, Peter Reid there. Either of them
:53:11. > :53:13.would take your legs out on the pitch, that is for sure, and off
:53:14. > :53:32.let! -- off it. Andy Murray hit that served so well
:53:33. > :53:38.today, a slider with pace, on the outside. Been able to get a lot of
:53:39. > :53:57.cheap points from that first serve. And he has rarely been at his Max
:53:58. > :54:06.Power, really, he sacrificed for or five miles per hour for the
:54:07. > :54:21.accuracy. He has been frequently at 106, 100 and the seven and 108.
:54:22. > :55:41.Murray continues to torment Tomas Berdych and he has two games for
:55:42. > :55:54.heading to his third Wimbledon final. We remember the last two
:55:55. > :56:01.Roger Federer in 2012, the difficult interview afterwards where he bared
:56:02. > :56:07.his soul, 2013, the victory against Novak Djokovic. Great weekend of
:56:08. > :56:13.sport ahead. The British Grand Prix at Silverstone, European football on
:56:14. > :56:20.Sunday night, Open golf at Royal Troon, the men's final is at two
:56:21. > :56:26.o'clock on Sunday on BBC One. We are on-air at one o'clock. It looks like
:56:27. > :56:32.Andy Murray is going to be in it, but as a player you would never back
:56:33. > :56:37.off. You never know, it is two sets and a break and he has got better as
:56:38. > :56:44.the match has gone on. Really impressed with his serving, he has
:56:45. > :56:51.not over served. He has known, if he can keep Tomas Berdych on the back
:56:52. > :57:00.foot, but every single change he is going to the bike and checking his
:57:01. > :57:05.notes, he is being very there. I do not think it will have helped his
:57:06. > :57:07.mood, that last point, to look up at his box am probably three quarters
:57:08. > :57:25.of his contingent were clapping. Not always easy to watch from up there.
:57:26. > :57:27.Great tournament. It may not be over yet for Tomas Berdych. But he is
:57:28. > :59:31.well down here. That was an impressive hold by
:59:32. > :59:38.Tamils birdlike, really had to dig deep, the scoreboard ticking over,
:59:39. > :59:43.he has never known this game of tennis, pressure, nerves, Andy
:59:44. > :00:13.Murray still two games are away -- Tomas Berdych.
:00:14. > :00:18.Murray averaging 92 mph on his second serve, 84 in the middle of
:00:19. > :00:53.the box is not going to get it done. Berdych does well to do the first
:00:54. > :01:01.one. Then he made the unforced error. When you see Murray in those
:01:02. > :01:29.positions, he is able to stay in the rally a lot longer.
:01:30. > :01:36.That has been one of the differences today, the versatility, it looked
:01:37. > :01:40.like he was going to change last minute and then push it down deep
:01:41. > :02:24.and then he flicked under it, played a fantastic drop shot.
:02:25. > :02:38.UMPIRE: Game, Murray, new balls please. Murray leads by 5-2, third
:02:39. > :02:44.set. Thomas birdlike here, two sets and a break down, he has come back
:02:45. > :02:57.from two sets down in his career but not since 2005 -- Tomas Berdych. He
:02:58. > :03:02.did it in 2004. He did it against a talented Paraguayan player. It is a
:03:03. > :03:06.rare thing, it has been over 11 years since he was able to come
:03:07. > :03:11.down, difficult to keep your head up in a situation like that. Another
:03:12. > :03:15.excellent tournament and it is something we have seen from Tomas
:03:16. > :03:24.Berdych throughout his career, plays well and then someone has a little
:03:25. > :03:29.bit of something more. He would have sensed a massive opportunity in the
:03:30. > :03:35.quarterfinals, to get through to the stage in the semi-finals, in the
:03:36. > :03:40.past, when he has come into the quarterfinals, he knows he has to
