:00:20. > :00:31.Come on Andy! Come on Andy! Come on Andy! Come on Andy! When you have a
:00:32. > :00:43.guy like that, you follow him. And there will be more of that cry
:00:44. > :00:48.on Sunday, because Andy Murray is through to the Wimbledon final once
:00:49. > :00:57.again. This is how he clinched victory. In three sets. 6-3, 6-3,
:00:58. > :01:02.6-3. Berdych had a chance in the second set, but Murray held firm,
:01:03. > :01:07.and never let go. He got better and better as the match went on, and
:01:08. > :01:12.Berdych had no answer. Too much variety from Murray. Too much
:01:13. > :01:16.strength and belief. He is a great competitor. No sign of nerves. Andy
:01:17. > :01:23.Murray through to the Wimbledon final once again. He won it back in
:01:24. > :01:31.2013. He gave his family and friends so much to cheer about. We are so
:01:32. > :01:39.used to the matches being tense. Let's hear what Andy had to say. He
:01:40. > :01:42.spoke to Gary after the match. Many congratulations. Your emotion on
:01:43. > :01:50.reaching another final? Obviously very happy. The middle part of the
:01:51. > :01:55.second set was really key. I had a few chances to go up a break, and
:01:56. > :01:58.then I broke the following game. Obviously, to make another of
:01:59. > :02:08.Wimbledon final, that is a good achievement. Does the feeling get
:02:09. > :02:12.better each time you get through? Yes, the older you get, you never
:02:13. > :02:16.know how many more chances you are going to have to play in Grand Slam
:02:17. > :02:23.finals, so you want to make the most of your opportunities, and I managed
:02:24. > :02:28.to get through today, and I guess the older you get, the more
:02:29. > :02:36.experience you have, which helps in these situations. That is what I was
:02:37. > :02:44.wondering. Thus the pressure get less? You have played in ten Grand
:02:45. > :02:47.Slam finals already. You learn from those matches, for sure, having had
:02:48. > :02:50.those experiences in the past, they have helped me a lot, playing
:02:51. > :02:56.against some of the best players of all time. I know what I have to do
:02:57. > :02:59.to get to the latter stages of these events, and I need to play a great
:03:00. > :03:04.match on Sunday if I want to win. That is against Milos Raonic, and
:03:05. > :03:08.you beat him on grass. That was a very tough match. Three sets, I was
:03:09. > :03:13.down a set and a break, and I managed to turn it around. He is
:03:14. > :03:18.playing some of the best grass court tennis of his career. He played a
:03:19. > :03:23.great game with Roger today. Very entertaining, tough match. I am
:03:24. > :03:26.aware that I have to play very well. Do you have a Wimbledon final
:03:27. > :03:33.routine? Are you six dishes in anyway clever -- superstition?
:03:34. > :03:41.I have the same practice time, but I won't change too much. Lastly, you
:03:42. > :03:45.will be for a couple of hours doing lots of interviews. When you go
:03:46. > :03:50.home, what do you do? I remember a couple of years ago, you put the TV
:03:51. > :03:57.on and watched Toye story. What will you do today? I will finish all of
:03:58. > :04:01.my recovery staff, to the press, and then it is late by the time you get
:04:02. > :04:06.back. I will be up for a bit, and hopefully get a good night's sleep,
:04:07. > :04:08.rest day tomorrow, then hopefully come back firing on Sunday. Really
:04:09. > :04:16.well done. He is playing the best tennis of his
:04:17. > :04:26.career at the moment. He has Ivan Lendl bag in his corner. He is
:04:27. > :04:30.driven now. He said he wanted to win it again, he said he wanted to be
:04:31. > :04:38.Novak Djokovic, but he is not here. He is going to have to beat the man-
:04:39. > :04:43.Melton from Canada. -- the man mountain. That is praise indeed from
:04:44. > :04:46.Ivan Lendl. He will be planning the schedule and tactics for the final
:04:47. > :04:54.on Sunday. Andy Murray through to the Wimbledon final once again. So,
:04:55. > :05:00.what to get -- what a day it has been. Let's get the view from art
:05:01. > :05:05.commentators. Lleyton Hewitt, I was talking about the sixth game in the
:05:06. > :05:08.second set. He felt but that was the heart of the match. That could have
:05:09. > :05:13.been the turning point for Tomas Berdych.
:05:14. > :05:22.Sorry, I can't hear your microphone at the moment. We will try and sort
:05:23. > :05:33.that out. Just give me a thumbs up if you thought it was a great match!
:05:34. > :05:37.I again. The sixth game. No! I'm sorry, guys. We will try and get
:05:38. > :05:43.back to you. It will be worth going back. But this is everyone leaving
:05:44. > :05:47.now, Centre Court. What a day they have had. They had a five set
:05:48. > :05:54.thriller with Roger Federer losing to Milos Raonic. Federer looked like
:05:55. > :05:59.he could win that in four sets. He came so close to it, but Milos
:06:00. > :06:05.Raonic came. Through Mr show you how Milos Raonic finished it off on
:06:06. > :06:10.Centre Court today. Here he is at 40-0, and finishing it off with a
:06:11. > :06:20.big serve. And then an error from Roger. Roger had to have the train
:06:21. > :06:27.on Centre Court. He never really got into it. He is through, not only to
:06:28. > :06:30.his first Wimbledon final, but also his first Grand Slam final. There
:06:31. > :06:36.will be a big occasion for him. Let's hear what he has to say. Many
:06:37. > :06:39.congratulations. You are through to the final. Describe your emotions.
:06:40. > :06:49.You have beaten a great champion today. I was struggling there,
:06:50. > :06:53.through the third and fourth set, he was struggling, and just a little
:06:54. > :06:59.opening, I managed to finish off on a great match. What impact is this
:07:00. > :07:05.going to have? You are the first Canadian man to reach the Grand Slam
:07:06. > :07:09.final. It will be a big impact if I can win. I have to win first.
:07:10. > :07:13.Hopefully it does have a great impact. You have your mum and dad
:07:14. > :07:18.here. They are watching your matches, and on the seventh --
:07:19. > :07:22.semifinal, they look so calm. They're not! I am sure they will be
:07:23. > :07:28.taking a little nap right now, just to ease off their motion. I'm sure I
:07:29. > :07:33.will as well! But it is a great feeling to play in my first final.
:07:34. > :07:37.You have a good coaching team around you. You have added to it with John
:07:38. > :07:42.McEnroe. What sort of influence has he had with you? What he told me
:07:43. > :07:46.today is leave it all out there. I showed a lot of emotion, I was
:07:47. > :07:52.always positive, and that is what got me through. I had one of my best
:07:53. > :07:56.matches in my history and my career, and that is what made the biggest
:07:57. > :08:00.difference. And his experience on finals day, he will give you little
:08:01. > :08:07.nuggets that will really help. I hope so. He gave me plenty of help
:08:08. > :08:12.today. He has experienced winning slams and playing in these
:08:13. > :08:20.semifinals. Between now and Sunday, how will you and all the occasions,
:08:21. > :08:28.the emotions? -- candle. I will try and push it down. I am by no means
:08:29. > :08:33.done. It gives me something to keep myself my sight line on. I want to
:08:34. > :08:37.progress and win this thing. And Andy Murray in the final. If it is
:08:38. > :08:42.him, it proves to be in intriguing match. We played in the finals at
:08:43. > :08:47.Queen's. I said that I hope I have a rematch. I would sound like a genius
:08:48. > :08:49.if it is him, but I have to prepare myself, and I would do the best I
:08:50. > :08:59.can. Well done. It was interesting in the commentary
:09:00. > :09:04.box. John McEnroe was saying, he is not moving his serve around enough,
:09:05. > :09:08.he is not mixing it up and. He said needed in the fifth and final set.
:09:09. > :09:12.Roger had his chances. It is the first time he has ever been beaten
:09:13. > :09:17.in a Wimbledon semifinal, and he got so close to getting through at the
:09:18. > :09:24.end of the fourth set. He was not able to take his chances, and Milos
:09:25. > :09:27.Raonic took is. So, let's hear from Rod of -- Roger Federer who was
:09:28. > :09:37.visibly upset in the press conference afterwards. Something
:09:38. > :09:46.went wrong. A double fault, twice. Unexplainable for me. Very sad and
:09:47. > :09:49.angry at myself, because never should I have allowed him to get out
:09:50. > :09:55.of that set so easily. He deserved it. He owned it at the end, but I
:09:56. > :10:00.helped him so much to get back into that game, and I thought I was the
:10:01. > :10:05.better player for the set, and then, I know he is great in the breakers.
:10:06. > :10:09.It was always going to be tough. But I would like to have seen him
:10:10. > :10:16.scramble for. This clearly hurts, because I thought I could have had
:10:17. > :10:24.it. So close. It was so close. I feel that I lost it and he won it.
:10:25. > :10:31.When I played on top-of-the-line, he thought, like I did against Marin
:10:32. > :10:36.Cilic. Sometimes, things don't go your way. If you blink at the wrong
:10:37. > :10:45.time, and it happened so fast that you connect. Things change. We are
:10:46. > :10:49.doing a different press conference, but credit to him for hanging in
:10:50. > :10:57.there. Expanding what went wrong, but this is the site that all of the
:10:58. > :11:02.Federer fans are sad to see. He will not win the eighth Wimbledon title.
:11:03. > :11:08.A disappointing day for him. Very honest in press conference. Bitterly
:11:09. > :11:13.disappointed, but he had his chances, and it is rare that you say
:11:14. > :11:14.that about Roger Federer. But always a gentleman, saying goodbye to
:11:15. > :11:32.everyone as he heads home. Sorry about the microphone disorder!
:11:33. > :11:44.Well saved, Tim! He is a class act. Who, Tim(!) it must be hard for him
:11:45. > :11:48.today. He could have easily won it in four sets. He was the better
:11:49. > :11:51.player throughout the fourth set, but he could not get the chances
:11:52. > :11:57.when he had the break points. He was up against a guy who had such a big
:11:58. > :12:02.serve. You have to take chances when they are presented. We can show you
:12:03. > :12:07.some of the fourth set. That is the chance Doi time that Roger had his
:12:08. > :12:11.chances. If you are going to look for the reasons, the real lack of
:12:12. > :12:15.match play, he has had the most challenging year of his career. The
:12:16. > :12:20.injuries that he had after Australia, and being ill, and having
:12:21. > :12:23.problems with his back, it is unusual for him to give up the
:12:24. > :12:29.chances, especially on his own serve. It was his 40-0 game when he
:12:30. > :12:33.is on those finishing off the service games. He also had a couple
:12:34. > :12:38.of double faults. Milos Raonic did well to hang in there and placing
:12:39. > :12:43.great tennis. He took the chances when they came, and it is an amazing
:12:44. > :12:50.chance for him to be through to the first grand slam final. It is hard
:12:51. > :12:54.to believe, but that is what pressure does. He let that one of
:12:55. > :12:59.the book. If it went to the fourth set -- fourth set tie-break, he had
:13:00. > :13:03.a chance to sneak out. He could have set up the final against Andy
:13:04. > :13:07.Murray. Maybe he was just thinking about it, the trainer was on, he
:13:08. > :13:12.needed a massage. It was like everything that he put out there, in
:13:13. > :13:18.the five setter, it was all out there. Federer is so professional
:13:19. > :13:21.with his preparation, and it has been difficult for him, but that is
:13:22. > :13:26.a classic example of not really having the mileage on the match
:13:27. > :13:30.court. He will have done so much on the practice court to get in the
:13:31. > :13:37.best possible shape. Outfit was he going into this tournament? We can
:13:38. > :13:41.debate that, -- outfit was he. He lost his legs early in the fifth,
:13:42. > :13:45.and that is unusual to see. But he is the ultimate professional, and he
:13:46. > :13:50.was clear in his praise for Milos Raonic that he was able to win that
:13:51. > :13:55.match, but it will be a tough one for Federer to put behind him. That
:13:56. > :13:57.will hurt for a long time. But Milos Raonic took his chance, and he raced
:13:58. > :14:07.his game. He started so well in the fifth set.
:14:08. > :14:13.I was really impressed with how his footwork -- footwork was. His
:14:14. > :14:20.backhand pass held up under pressure. He had a great passing
:14:21. > :14:24.shot. His movement has always been good. You don't often see Roger with
:14:25. > :14:31.his movement falling over on the grass. At the time, I thought it was
:14:32. > :14:35.a slip, but he checked his ankle, which twinge Disney. He had come
:14:36. > :14:40.back out, and this was a strange point. Roger had a couple of chances
:14:41. > :14:47.to finish it off, we couldn't do it, and Milos Raonic came off with a big
:14:48. > :14:51.pass. He was just starting to tire. He had been on the court for close
:14:52. > :14:55.to three hours, maybe just over three hours. It is that first step,
:14:56. > :15:01.in and out of the corners, it makes a big difference. He was able to
:15:02. > :15:06.gain the momentum early in the fifth. When you hit the corners at
:15:07. > :15:10.140 Bath per hour, it is difficult to play against. John McEnroe was in
:15:11. > :15:16.the commentary box. He said that he has got his fire back, he is moving
:15:17. > :15:19.his feet better. He had been intimidated by Roger earlier. I was
:15:20. > :15:24.very impressed with Roger's defensive skills. It is not
:15:25. > :15:30.something we talk about. He dictates, but he really showed some
:15:31. > :15:34.great deal on the stretch to stay in rallies and make sure that he hit
:15:35. > :15:37.some tricky shots. As we saw in the final of Queen's, when he played
:15:38. > :15:44.against Murray, he will fancy his chances. He must feel so good about
:15:45. > :15:47.today, because trying to get to his first Grand Slam final, he proved
:15:48. > :15:52.that he could beat the great Roger Federer and come out a winner. He
:15:53. > :15:56.raced away to the last set. It is a huge mental hurdle to go out and do
:15:57. > :16:01.it. He had a chance. He had beaten Roger in a smaller tournament in
:16:02. > :16:04.Brisbane, but to go out in a Wimbledon semifinal, where Roger has
:16:05. > :16:08.held his own persona many years, and go out and perform well, and played
:16:09. > :16:15.some of his best tennis when he was down in the match. And Roger saying
:16:16. > :16:19.don't ask me about retirement. Everyone was asking is that your
:16:20. > :16:24.farewell?! He says he is going to be back. I think with the nature of
:16:25. > :16:28.this year, he has not really been on his own terms, because he has been
:16:29. > :16:33.battling to get back match fit, and to get the tournament under his
:16:34. > :16:39.belt. Again, he is 34, he is in the latter days, it is longer than most
:16:40. > :16:42.people play, but if he gets 100% fit and healthy, with the weight that
:16:43. > :16:46.his game is, his technique, it does not take a lot of extra stress out
:16:47. > :16:51.of his body. I definitely hope to see him back next year. If he is
:16:52. > :16:56.going to get another slam, it is here. He has his best chance here.
:16:57. > :16:59.But as Tim said, it has been such a tough year for him. He has started
:17:00. > :17:04.to look like he was getting going, and then another little hiccup, and
:17:05. > :17:08.in the back injuries, and then a bigger problem, and then he was not
:17:09. > :17:15.getting his matches under the belt. His body in the end today, he senses
:17:16. > :17:20.the frustration. Novak was out of the tournament. He had a great
:17:21. > :17:29.chance to get to add grand slam final before. He did not take it
:17:30. > :17:32.this time. As far as Milos Raonic is concerned, how difficult is this,
:17:33. > :17:36.the day off tomorrow? Everyone wanting to talk to him. How was it?
:17:37. > :17:43.He is a pretty level-headed guy. I think he will go through the same
:17:44. > :17:46.preparation that he has done on every single off day that he has
:17:47. > :17:52.had. I think it was good that he had that average game against David
:17:53. > :17:56.Coffin, because he had to go through that, and he survived. Sometimes you
:17:57. > :18:02.go and see guys win grand slam after they have a scare. Andy Murray had
:18:03. > :18:07.it against Jo-Wilfried Tsonga the other night. My first was the US
:18:08. > :18:11.Open final, either throw to be there. But you try and enjoy it as
:18:12. > :18:15.much as possible, but very similar. I was the underdog going into that
:18:16. > :18:21.one as well. It is interesting that in the final, it will be McEnroe and
:18:22. > :18:25.Lendl. I hope McEnroe is working! They are not going to be far apart!
:18:26. > :18:29.There was quite a bit of tension when they played in the Queen 's
:18:30. > :18:34.final, and I think that this will be as Lendl has had a big impact on
:18:35. > :18:41.Murray, not only McEnroe, we should mention Carlos Moya, who is grand
:18:42. > :18:45.slam winner. He will be able to draw on those experiences of the day
:18:46. > :18:53.after tomorrow, to prepare for his game plan. It is much more fun
:18:54. > :18:57.comparing Lendl and McEnroe! John is going to be talking to him a lot. He
:18:58. > :19:01.is the super coach along with Carlos Moya. He has been there, done that,
:19:02. > :19:08.and he will have getting mentally right. After the battle is mental.
:19:09. > :19:11.Being in the right frame of mind to be positive. But he has to install
:19:12. > :19:14.into him as well, you have to believe in yourself. We have the
:19:15. > :19:18.belief that you can win Wimbledon on Sunday afternoon. He is going to be
:19:19. > :19:24.playing not only against Andy Murray but also a massive crowd. Let's move
:19:25. > :19:33.on to Andy. As I was trying to say, the sixth game in the second set, if
:19:34. > :19:37.that was the time, it was then. Those 1215 minutes were critical,
:19:38. > :19:42.because Tomas Berdych at those opportunities and he could not take
:19:43. > :19:47.them. -- those 12-15 minutes. The pressure was straight back on
:19:48. > :19:51.Berdych, and he really menace to stamp his authority. When he was
:19:52. > :19:55.playing so consistently, you just really struggle to see how Tomas
:19:56. > :20:01.Berdych was able to get back in. He try to beat aggressive, he try to
:20:02. > :20:07.dictate, he came forward, but he made life difficult for him. It was
:20:08. > :20:15.tough though. Three, three and does not tell the story. It was tough. It
:20:16. > :20:21.could have swayed either way at points. But Andy Murray is so good
:20:22. > :20:24.at changing pace. It was a massive difference, because he did not give
:20:25. > :20:28.Tomas Berdych the opportunity to have a go at his second serve. He
:20:29. > :20:36.got a very high percentage of first serve. He took the power out of the
:20:37. > :20:40.Tomas Berdych game. You talk about the variety, and he was toying with
:20:41. > :20:43.him at times. He knew that Andy Murray's game plan was that if they
:20:44. > :20:48.could get into neutral rallies from the back of the court, he could
:20:49. > :20:53.exploit the weakness of Tomas Berdych's movement. Berdych had to
:20:54. > :20:56.be aggressive, he is a big ball striker, but at the end of the
:20:57. > :21:03.match, you looked up for terror accounts. Berdych was about 30, and
:21:04. > :21:07.Murray was eight. Murray gave so few opportunities for Tomas Berdych to
:21:08. > :21:10.build momentum. He is such a great fighter. He loves it when it gets
:21:11. > :21:18.tight. He has the ability to raise his game. You can't teach it.
:21:19. > :21:21.Mentally, he believes in himself. When he gets into the pressure
:21:22. > :21:28.point, he knows he is going to come up with the goods. Only Novak
:21:29. > :21:36.Djokovic has been able to do against him. This is the first time that he
:21:37. > :21:40.is not ranked above him. When you look at Murray's grand slam losses,
:21:41. > :21:44.he has only lost to Federer and Djokovic. This is a great
:21:45. > :21:48.opportunity. There have been a physical tests on the court, off the
:21:49. > :21:53.court, there is a lot going on. There has been a lot going on for
:21:54. > :21:56.Murray in this tournament. First and foremost, the Djokovic loss.
:21:57. > :22:00.Everyone was saying, this is your chance. But for Murray, in the
:22:01. > :22:04.bottom half of the draw, even today, he will have been aware of what was
:22:05. > :22:09.going on with the match before. Federer was expected to come through
:22:10. > :22:12.into the final. It is a great opportunity for Berdych and Murray,
:22:13. > :22:17.and he keeps coming over these challenges. I really do expect him
:22:18. > :22:20.to do the same on Sunday, because the consistency of his performance,
:22:21. > :22:26.the intensity of the last three months, has been absolutely amazing,
:22:27. > :22:32.and he can go out and win another Wimbledon title. He is so fired up.
:22:33. > :22:37.He really imposes himself on court. He plays his best tennis when he is
:22:38. > :22:41.like that. He plays a much more positive game of tennis. You can see
:22:42. > :22:45.on his backhand, trying to take a few more risks, and not just push
:22:46. > :22:52.the ball in play. I love it when he is aggressive on that. You used to
:22:53. > :22:57.love doing it. I'd use to do a few this pumps. It is one on one sport.
:22:58. > :23:02.It is like a boxing ring, nowhere to hide. Does that presence of having
:23:03. > :23:06.Ivan Lendl there, up to him, at times throughout the match, that has
:23:07. > :23:12.given him an extra self-confidence. Finally, dare I say it, he likes
:23:13. > :23:17.playing big servers. One of his great skills is the return of serve.
:23:18. > :23:21.One of the elements of that is how he is able to block the serve back.
:23:22. > :23:29.He had seen Raonic's serve plenty of times. Raonic was amazing at
:23:30. > :23:32.Queen's, but he found a way to get the ball back. If he gets into the
:23:33. > :23:36.rallies from the baseline, where the server is not part of the equation,
:23:37. > :23:42.that is where I feel that Murray, he can exploit Raonic's lack of
:23:43. > :23:46.movement. Well, we look forward to that. We would let you get some
:23:47. > :23:51.dinner now! We do know that the final is now Andy Murray, in his
:23:52. > :23:58.11th Grand Slam final, up against Milos Raonic. That is the number two
:23:59. > :24:03.seed against the six seed. McEnroe against Lendl, we will build that
:24:04. > :24:10.up! That is at 1pm, we will start our coverage. So, we still have
:24:11. > :24:15.about 35 minutes or so here in the evening, and we will be previewing
:24:16. > :24:19.the women's file before we go off the air. But we are going to take
:24:20. > :24:27.you out to a match from earlier today on Court Number One. It is
:24:28. > :24:30.Heather Watson. We can join this match, it was over on Court Number
:24:31. > :24:53.One. This game has now lasted
:24:54. > :24:55.over ten minutes. Maybe a slider to the
:24:56. > :25:02.body might not be a Happier on the drive volley
:25:03. > :26:41.than the old-fashioned That's the case with many
:26:42. > :27:11.of the women these days. He has seen a lot of
:27:12. > :27:57.the ball the last ten So much of doubles, it is just
:27:58. > :28:27.about sensing the match. So Lipsky and Kudryavtseva stay
:28:28. > :29:25.in touch, but still down a break. We are getting to know Henry now
:29:26. > :29:28.and he is a cool customer, Yes, just checking that my hand
:29:29. > :29:43.is nice and dry and I have all the time in the world
:29:44. > :29:46.and I am going to crack it. Not too stressed,
:29:47. > :29:47.is Does not look as if he would break
:29:48. > :29:51.a sweat, does Henry. You described his partner
:29:52. > :30:02.as cool yesterday. kept the whole ship together,
:30:03. > :30:05.wonderful returns, such a solid well to make that low volley. Lipsky
:30:06. > :32:01.really clobbered that return. He is a very good first serve first
:32:02. > :32:03.volley merchant and that is usually one of the first things you are told
:32:04. > :32:39.when you learn doubles. Little frustration here from
:32:40. > :32:42.Kudryavtseva, got to the ball. Now, this is where Kontinen and Watson
:32:43. > :33:15.really must seek the double break. Another serve off the Watson
:33:16. > :33:47.forehand. Just really smart play from
:33:48. > :33:53.Kontinen, as soon as he had a chance, he got the ball over to
:33:54. > :34:27.Kudryavtseva. Always play the ball over when you can.
:34:28. > :34:36.She served a double fault to drop her serve in the first set, now
:34:37. > :34:42.Watson has missed two returns in a row, this one has to go win, because
:34:43. > :34:59.at a set and 5-2 up, they should not lose.
:35:00. > :35:32.In fairness, it was a very good serve.
:35:33. > :36:03.Zero percentage shots there from Kontinen. If these two get to the
:36:04. > :36:12.final, they will be very popular, without Heather even being on the
:36:13. > :36:22.court! Still has not made a return in this game, Watson. They have
:36:23. > :36:29.figured her out, haven't they? Just more confirmation of the work that
:36:30. > :36:32.has to be done on that forehand. Still need to knuckle down here
:36:33. > :36:52.because it is the Watson serve next. And putt the ball is called out. --
:36:53. > :37:13.UMPIRE:. They're not getting any better, are they. --?.
:37:14. > :37:23.Advantage, Miss Watson. Lipsky and Kudryavtseva have two challenges
:37:24. > :37:35.remaining. Third chance for the double break.
:37:36. > :38:49.It is out and there is the double break!
:38:50. > :39:12.They cannot afford to relax. I think we might be able to relax a little
:39:13. > :39:13.bit now. I think we are OK but there is only one thing worth talking
:39:14. > :39:47.about, take a look at this point. I think sums up for Henry, he is
:39:48. > :39:53.only 26, in the top 40 in the world, he can be one of the best doubles
:39:54. > :39:54.players out there. He and John got to the quarterfinals here. There he
:39:55. > :40:13.is. They lost to the top seeds. John was a finalist last here with
:40:14. > :40:14.Jamie Murray, new balls as Watson serves for a place in the
:40:15. > :41:48.semi-finals. -- last year. The first double fault of the match.
:41:49. > :43:54.Still much point, though. Advantage, Miss Watson. Uses those
:43:55. > :43:59.angled volleys so effectively, it really works when you're two
:44:00. > :44:29.opponents are on the baseline, match point for the third time.
:44:30. > :45:07.Well, what an achievement! First ever tournament together and they
:45:08. > :45:17.are in the semi-finals of Wimbledon. SUE BARKER: And they are through to
:45:18. > :45:23.face Marach and Ostapenko who won their match. Heather Watson and
:45:24. > :45:29.Kontinen will be facing them in the semifinal tomorrow. One semifinal
:45:30. > :45:38.was completed and the players making it through to the final, were
:45:39. > :45:50.Groenefeld and her partner. This was close. They are through to the
:45:51. > :45:53.Wimbledon final. We will look forward to seeing Heather Watson in
:45:54. > :45:59.her semifinal tomorrow but of course the main feature is on Centre Court,
:46:00. > :46:11.the ladies final when all eyes will be on these two women. So cool under
:46:12. > :46:20.pressure. An exhibition performance from Serena Williams. At the age of
:46:21. > :46:30.28 she has reinvented herself. They are not hiking around. Super
:46:31. > :46:30.performance. The winner and now a Wimbledon final for Angelique
:46:31. > :46:41.Kerber. We have the defending champion
:46:42. > :46:45.against the Australian Open champion and Tracy Austin joins me. A fitting
:46:46. > :46:50.end to the tournament, two players who have been informed this year.
:46:51. > :46:57.Absolutely and we have not seen two players play twice the final office
:46:58. > :47:00.LAN since 2006. It is great to see Angelique Kerber back in the
:47:01. > :47:05.Australian Open because she struggled after winning with all of
:47:06. > :47:11.the expectations, even losing in the first round of Roland Garros. I do
:47:12. > :47:16.not think Serena would say I have not been informed, but she still
:47:17. > :47:21.made the finals, hasn't she of all three? We expect so much from
:47:22. > :47:24.Serena. One thing to think about when she goes to Australia because
:47:25. > :47:30.she lost in the semi-finals at the US Open and she was so disappointed,
:47:31. > :47:34.she was two matches away, she took the rest of the falloff, did not
:47:35. > :47:37.play another match until they are struggling up, she had a little
:47:38. > :47:43.rust, I do not think she played her best tennis in the final, whereas
:47:44. > :47:50.Kerber played the match of her life and then fast forward to Roland
:47:51. > :47:55.Garros, Serena had problems. We expect so much from Serena. Saying
:47:56. > :47:59.that, she has looked a little more relaxed, we talked about some of the
:48:00. > :48:04.nerves she has had in late stages of the Grand Slam. I just do not see
:48:05. > :48:09.that happening, because she has gotten better with each match, I go
:48:10. > :48:15.back to that match worse she was down to love and her opponent missed
:48:16. > :48:20.and that was all Serena needed to turn that around and since then she
:48:21. > :48:30.has gotten better with each match she has played. I thought she played
:48:31. > :48:33.fabulously in the semi-finals. 11 aces, 77% of her first serves in,
:48:34. > :48:38.when she is serving like that, it put so much pressure on her opponent
:48:39. > :48:44.and it is really her match to win. As far as Kerber is concerned, she
:48:45. > :48:48.defeated Venus Williams, she is a good grass court player, one of the
:48:49. > :48:56.best ever, but she was not at her best. I think she was feeling a
:48:57. > :49:01.little bit fatigued. You take her at 36 years old, she has added doubles
:49:02. > :49:05.to the tournament this year as well, Serena and Venus had not played
:49:06. > :49:11.double since 2014 because they recognise that Venus with the energy
:49:12. > :49:17.sapping virus, she was not playing her best when she was playing both.
:49:18. > :49:21.I think Venus was half a step slow and you cannot do that against
:49:22. > :49:25.Kerber because she has such tremendous angles, she widens the
:49:26. > :49:31.court, she absorbs power well and can stay close to the baseline. Hit
:49:32. > :49:38.the ball early. I think it is going to come down to the serves. If
:49:39. > :49:42.Serena holds her nerve and plays as well or close to as well she can
:49:43. > :49:49.play, even somewhat close to as well as she can play, I think she has got
:49:50. > :49:54.too big of a game and at the graph as well, the experience that Serena
:49:55. > :49:59.has, she has won here are six times but this service enhances her game
:50:00. > :50:02.with so much power. That is the final, Serena against Angelique
:50:03. > :50:07.Kerber. Let us hear from both finalists. You're into your ninth
:50:08. > :50:11.final, how do you prepare differently from walking out there
:50:12. > :50:16.on Saturday afternoon? I do not know, I talk to my coach about it,
:50:17. > :50:20.obviously I have been in several finals and I have not won yet.
:50:21. > :50:27.Hopefully we will come out with a different game plan. As it sank yet,
:50:28. > :50:31.you are in a Wimbledon final? It sounds crazy. I'm in the Wimbledon
:50:32. > :50:37.final for the first time and it was always a dream for me when I was a
:50:38. > :50:42.little kid. Now I will try, of course, to win the final, but it
:50:43. > :50:51.will not be easy. Are you superstitious? No, I do not. I do
:50:52. > :50:55.the same thing. I really try to be not superstitious at all. I do not
:50:56. > :50:59.like to get into routines and doing the same thing and having to have
:51:00. > :51:04.certain things. I like to be able to brief and I have done that before
:51:05. > :51:10.and it is too stressful. I have tried to be as easy as I can. She
:51:11. > :51:13.will go out to beat me, but I will try to play my best tennis and I
:51:14. > :51:18.will not be thinking too much about whether I am playing against Serena
:51:19. > :51:23.and try not to think too much about the final, I will just try to focus
:51:24. > :51:28.on my game, like I played the last few matches and try to go in for it.
:51:29. > :51:32.It is interesting that Steffi Graf will feature a fair bit tomorrow,
:51:33. > :51:40.because Angelique Kerber was saying that she was inspired by her. That
:51:41. > :51:46.was her idol. Serena is trying to equal her record of 22 Grand Slam
:51:47. > :51:51.'s. It is a tough ask for Serena, she has had this on her shoulders
:51:52. > :51:56.for 12 months. Absolutely, when Serena got her 21st major it was at
:51:57. > :52:00.Wimbledon last year and that was the third leg of the calendar year Grand
:52:01. > :52:04.Slam. Everyone was expecting not only for her to get that, but at
:52:05. > :52:10.least have another one in hand by the time Wimbledon came around this
:52:11. > :52:16.year. It has not worked out again, her expectations so high for Serena.
:52:17. > :52:21.Obviously, I think she talks about 22, she says, I do not think about
:52:22. > :52:25.that on court, I just want to win the tournament, whether it is the
:52:26. > :52:29.Australian or Roland Garros are Wimbledon, but I would say now, is
:52:30. > :52:34.she starting to let that enter her mind, because she has got one match
:52:35. > :52:40.away, it is big to tie Steffi Graf. We know a lot about Serena but what
:52:41. > :52:44.about Angelique Kerber. All the pressure is on her after the German
:52:45. > :52:48.team went out. It has been 20 years since Steffi Graf won the title, so
:52:49. > :52:53.let us find out more about Angelique Kerber from her press conference.
:52:54. > :52:58.Obviously the German result did not go well, how does it feel having to
:52:59. > :53:06.carry the hopes of a nation? I was watching the game yesterday. It was
:53:07. > :53:12.not the day of the team, I think. They tried everything, but still
:53:13. > :53:20.they played a good tournament there and of course now, I will try... I
:53:21. > :53:25.am in the final and I will try to take the flag for Germany and the
:53:26. > :53:30.hopes. I know you have been asked a few times about Steffi Graf, I am
:53:31. > :53:35.wondering, your times in Las Vegas, have you sat down and talk to Andre
:53:36. > :53:41.Mutch, has he been a help to you? Yes. I'll so played a little bit
:53:42. > :53:47.with him, with both, and at the time, it was the year after, I spent
:53:48. > :53:52.a few days in Las Vegas with both of them, and like I said a lot of
:53:53. > :53:58.times, for me it was always great to go there and play with them, talking
:53:59. > :54:02.with them. They are both great champions and also great people. I
:54:03. > :54:06.expect a really difficult match and I know she will go out and try to
:54:07. > :54:12.beat me, especially because she lost against being in Australia, but on
:54:13. > :54:17.grass she is always dangerous and I think she won here so many times,
:54:18. > :54:22.but she will go for it, I know that I have to play one of my best tennis
:54:23. > :54:28.games tomorrow. I am excited and really looking forward to play
:54:29. > :54:33.against them again. Even when she won the Australian, Steffi Graf was
:54:34. > :54:37.taxing her, her luck and then she goes and plays with her. I think it
:54:38. > :54:45.was special for her to go after Indian Wells, not just one champion,
:54:46. > :54:48.but to champions, home -- Gasquet to deal with the pressure and the
:54:49. > :54:53.expectations, that is so wonderful for her to have, to have Steffi Graf
:54:54. > :54:58.backing her, I would think she is on speed dial. That is going to be
:54:59. > :55:03.helpful now, it is a whole new kettle of fish. It just gives you a
:55:04. > :55:07.few extra nerves, Angelique Kerber has talked about that and talked
:55:08. > :55:12.about it well, she feels she has more experience because she has won
:55:13. > :55:17.that major and she feels a little more relaxed going into the second
:55:18. > :55:22.time around. She lived at home in the semifinal against Venus and she
:55:23. > :55:28.is such a good move -- looked at home. It is unbelievable, the way
:55:29. > :55:35.she comes up with passing shots from such angles. She is so speedy in the
:55:36. > :55:40.legs. The ball seems to get behind but somehow creates these angles
:55:41. > :55:44.from awkward positions again. Yes, I was impressed with the way that she
:55:45. > :55:49.played in the semi-finals, holding her nerve. That is a big part, a big
:55:50. > :55:55.occasion, big cod and playing Venus who is a big presence, she did well.
:55:56. > :56:02.Five-time champion and Angelique Kerber lost serve six times against
:56:03. > :56:06.Simona Halep. That is were she will have to show that up because it's
:56:07. > :56:10.Serena continues to serve the way she does and it is difficult to
:56:11. > :56:14.break Serena, then I think it is going to be a difficult day, it is
:56:15. > :56:24.William poured in for Kerber to get a good start because Serena can move
:56:25. > :56:32.ahead like a freight train -- it is important for curb to get a good
:56:33. > :56:42.shot. -- Kerber. Will she have as much time against Serena? No.
:56:43. > :56:46.Serena's serve is a lot bigger, a lot more consistent, 77% of her
:56:47. > :56:51.first serves in, that will be tough when you're rarely seeing a second
:56:52. > :56:56.serve and Serena gets off to a start and gets ahead in the point and
:56:57. > :57:01.Angelique Kerber is fast, she defuses power, I truly think that it
:57:02. > :57:05.is going to have to be a little bit of a nervous Serena and Angelique
:57:06. > :57:10.Kerber are playing at the peak of her powers. Serena froze in her
:57:11. > :57:16.first semifinal. Serena was allowed to play well. It will be a different
:57:17. > :57:20.sort of match for her. Look at the serves. 11 aces and she was starting
:57:21. > :57:26.to crank it up and when she does that and gets into a rhythm, it is
:57:27. > :57:30.difficult and Serena again today she won in the semi-finals of the
:57:31. > :57:35.doubles with Venus and got good practice, just long enough, and I
:57:36. > :57:40.think she is really ready to go. She is looking better with each match
:57:41. > :57:44.she has played, it is all about the serve and the nerves. Absolutely,
:57:45. > :57:49.but the serve for me is the best it has ever been. It is the best shot
:57:50. > :57:53.in the history of women's tennis. It is because of the power and because
:57:54. > :57:58.of the different placements, she can hit to all four corners of the box,
:57:59. > :58:04.also the body serve as well, she can use that effectively tomorrow. Also
:58:05. > :58:08.the fact that Serena is able to elevate her serve on big points and
:58:09. > :58:12.clutch moments and that is where we see Serena play at her best, so
:58:13. > :58:17.often when her back is against the wall. We have run out of time, I
:58:18. > :58:22.will see you tomorrow. It is the ladies final tomorrow, Angelique
:58:23. > :58:27.Kerber against Serena Williams, Serena Williams looking for her 22nd
:58:28. > :58:33.Grand Slam title, who were left that magnificent trophy? We will start
:58:34. > :58:36.our build-up at one o'clock. Chris Everett and Martina Navratilova will
:58:37. > :58:42.be with me. We have the Men's Doubles which are final, that is at
:58:43. > :58:49.11 o'clock, Gordon Reid from Great Britain is in that. Stay tuned for
:58:50. > :58:54.today at Wimbledon because Clare will be here with highlights from
:58:55. > :58:57.two of the semi-finals. That is it from us, goodbye.
