:00:11. > :00:13.This is a national programme. Now we're going to take you over to

:00:14. > :00:20.Wimbledon... That is perfect. Irresistible.

:00:21. > :00:47.Majestic. Superb. COMMENTATOR: Konta serving for the

:00:48. > :01:00.match. It's over. British tennis history is

:01:01. > :01:06.made. It's been 39 years since a British woman can say," I'm a

:01:07. > :01:14.Wimbledon semifinalist." He reverberate and is still echoing

:01:15. > :01:17.here at Wimbledon. Yesterday, the number six seed became the first

:01:18. > :01:25.British woman to reach a Wimbledon semifinal the 39 years, since

:01:26. > :01:31.Virginia Wade. 7.5 million of you at home watched the drama unfold on

:01:32. > :01:34.centre court. Today, he bat on passes to the men and their

:01:35. > :01:39.quarterfinals, the last eight includes Britain's defending

:01:40. > :01:41.champion Andy Murray, seven times champion Roger Federer, and

:01:42. > :01:46.three-time winner Novak Djokovic. They're proven form here makes them

:01:47. > :01:50.favourites to go through. But as we saw with Rafa, upsets do happen.

:01:51. > :02:10.Welcome to day nine for more Midsummer sporting magic.

:02:11. > :02:21.Painfully easy right now. He is purring. Wow. Precision and power,

:02:22. > :02:27.absolutely rips the living daylights out of it. Charges into the

:02:28. > :02:34.quarterfinals of Wimbledon. Roger Federer does it again, a tenth

:02:35. > :02:40.consecutive quarterfinal at the championships Andy Murray.

:02:41. > :02:43.SUE BARKER: What a day we had yesterday, and we can expect more

:02:44. > :02:48.patriotic support out on Centre Court today. First up, it is Andy

:02:49. > :02:51.Murray, the defending champion taking on the big server from

:02:52. > :02:56.America, Sam Querrey, who put the defending champion out here last

:02:57. > :03:02.year. A repeat of last you's semifinal, Milos Raonic won that. On

:03:03. > :03:06.Court number one, starting at 1pm, Gilles Muller, conqueror of Rafa

:03:07. > :03:11.Nadal, up against Marin Cilic, and Tomas Berdych takes on Novak

:03:12. > :03:14.Djokovic. In their head-to-head, Djokovic has won the last 12. That

:03:15. > :03:18.is the quarterfinals on the show courts today. Ten is underway

:03:19. > :03:25.already on the outside courts. If you want to watch, you can on Court

:03:26. > :03:34.12. You can watch the quarterfinal of the men's doubles. That is on the

:03:35. > :03:43.red button. We have made our way to the top of Henman Hill. All we have

:03:44. > :03:51.heard is champagne corks, and Andy Murray has joined me. The crowd here

:03:52. > :03:56.on Henman Hill, John McEnroe, and the Queen of Wimbledon, for us,

:03:57. > :04:04.Virginia Wade. APPLAUSE You embarrass me. The 40th

:04:05. > :04:08.anniversary of your win. You were in the Royal box yesterday, but 40

:04:09. > :04:12.years is something to celebrate. It is. Any anniversary is worth

:04:13. > :04:16.celebrating. If you champagne corks going. It is fun to have an

:04:17. > :04:21.anniversary. When you think about it, when I won, it was a big

:04:22. > :04:25.anniversary that year. It adds to the colour and motivation, to

:04:26. > :04:36.everybody's mood. Here we are again. We are showing some of it. I

:04:37. > :04:40.remember the last point, certainly. Although the way we hit the ball

:04:41. > :04:46.seemed so much slower, it looked like I was moving around OK. It

:04:47. > :04:51.appeared the men and women were in slow motion, because 40 years ago

:04:52. > :05:01.happened to be my first Wimbledon. I know! I recall in the semifinal...

:05:02. > :05:06.The two of you. Don't go there! You were supposed to play in the final.

:05:07. > :05:10.You bring up my worst nightmare every single year. Do you know what

:05:11. > :05:17.makes it worse? I played her a few weeks later, do you know what the

:05:18. > :05:21.score was? I won 6-1, 6-0. That is why it was my worst nightmare. I had

:05:22. > :05:32.to do a documentary the Dutch television. And I was doing press, I

:05:33. > :05:37.didn't see your match. They asked me, weren't you sorry it wasn't an

:05:38. > :05:46.all British final? To be diplomatic, I said, no. Because then it will

:05:47. > :05:51.have been difficult. If if I was honest, I would have said I feared

:05:52. > :05:56.you. Thank you, Virginia! It was one of your best years. It really was.

:05:57. > :06:03.But for you, you were a qualifier and you make it through. I think I

:06:04. > :06:08.have still won more matches than anyone else and not won the

:06:09. > :06:12.tournament. But that was my first match I ever played in the semis on

:06:13. > :06:17.centre court. I was trembling, my legs were shaking. Jimmy Connors

:06:18. > :06:24.wouldn't acknowledge my existence in the locker room. It was memorable

:06:25. > :06:29.and my life, needless to say, changed after that. I am proud to

:06:30. > :06:33.say, 40 years later, I see Virginia quite a bit in New York. She comes

:06:34. > :06:38.to my club and I see her on the court. She loves to get out there.

:06:39. > :06:42.It is a wonderful thing. Here we are, 40 years later, it has taken a

:06:43. > :06:47.while, but maybe now a British woman and man can win in the same year.

:06:48. > :06:50.Virginia had a great seat yesterday. We will talk about the men's

:06:51. > :06:54.quarterfinals in a moment. But we will look back at Jo Konta's amazing

:06:55. > :06:58.win when she booked her place in the last four.

:06:59. > :07:04.It's a very special day for Joanna Konta.

:07:05. > :07:10.It's extra special for British tennis fans, they have waited 33

:07:11. > :07:14.years to be able to say that one of their own is in the quarterfinals.

:07:15. > :07:17.Whenever you engage in one of the titanic tussle is, you always seem

:07:18. > :07:21.to have the belief. My trust in my own ability has got

:07:22. > :07:34.to be there. With situations, and moments like

:07:35. > :07:41.this, it is more from experienced than necessarily what I believe I

:07:42. > :07:43.can and cannot do. I believe I needed to accumulate experiences and

:07:44. > :07:50.time. That's a magnificent tie-break from

:07:51. > :07:52.Simona Halep. Konta has got to come from behind to win.

:07:53. > :08:01.I go into every tournament to be involved in the end or the very end.

:08:02. > :08:06.But I'm fully aware that every single match I will get to play will

:08:07. > :08:09.be a testing one, and will challenge me.

:08:10. > :08:14.Most standing. Look at that. Somehow, Jo Konta has forced a final

:08:15. > :08:21.set. I don't take anything for granted.

:08:22. > :08:25.By the mind of myself my best effort. And I demand of myself my

:08:26. > :08:27.best effort to what I do, and make sure I do the best that I can out

:08:28. > :08:51.there. British tennis history is made.

:08:52. > :08:55.The first British woman since 1978 to reach the semifinals of

:08:56. > :08:58.Wimbledon, and now, winning the quarterfinal match means you will be

:08:59. > :09:06.in the top five in the women's rankings when they are out next

:09:07. > :09:10.week. I didn't know that! OK! Thank you! Congratulations. When you

:09:11. > :09:17.top up all the achievements, do you ever pat yourself on the back and

:09:18. > :09:23.say, well done? It's difficult because, I guess, in

:09:24. > :09:26.both a fortunate and unfortunate position that we are in tennis,

:09:27. > :09:29.things move very quickly. Before you know it, the Championships will be

:09:30. > :09:34.over and it is the next event next week. In that sense, because things

:09:35. > :09:41.are so fast moving, it's almost an art to reflect well, and to

:09:42. > :09:44.acknowledge the good things that you do. Actually, it is something I work

:09:45. > :09:48.on to make sure that I act knowledge the good things I am doing. I will

:09:49. > :09:55.let you know after Wimbledon how my pat on the back went, OK?

:09:56. > :10:02.Users and he deserves a pat on the back. That is for sure.

:10:03. > :10:07.She seems very composed. Unbelievably composed. What I really

:10:08. > :10:11.like is she really played each point almost the same. If she loses a

:10:12. > :10:17.point, she doesn't fret about it. She gets on with the next one. She

:10:18. > :10:21.talks, too. You hear people that talk the talk but don't bully. She

:10:22. > :10:32.talks the talk and believes. I have to say, it was compelling stuff. She

:10:33. > :10:34.held her nerve. I have talked to sports psychologists and

:10:35. > :10:39.psychiatrists, too. It didn't work with me. Why all of a sudden, this

:10:40. > :10:47.amazing change has taken place. She played 4-5 Wimbledon Raw and won one

:10:48. > :10:53.match. Now she is going all the way. She stayed true to her game plan

:10:54. > :10:59.even when it got tight. She really got my attention at Eastbourne two

:11:00. > :11:03.years ago when she got to the final. People said she was so good, but her

:11:04. > :11:11.forehand gets shaky under pressure. Not a sign of that. She was very

:11:12. > :11:15.determined. I am so pleased for her. I couldn't be happier for her. I am

:11:16. > :11:20.worried she is getting so much pressure put on her. You think of

:11:21. > :11:24.the year I did well, that is when you were taking most of the

:11:25. > :11:29.pressure, because you were the great, white hope. Kristina was

:11:30. > :11:33.there, Martina and everybody. Now we are saying, Jo has such a good

:11:34. > :11:39.chance to win. As long as she is not listening... It is a shame that the

:11:40. > :11:47.two Brits we are talking about are going to lose to two Americans. In

:11:48. > :11:55.your dreams! It is going to be eight tough next 24-hour was, I feel.

:11:56. > :11:59.Venus is tough. This is the quarters, how do you deal with it?

:12:00. > :12:04.Do you not read the papers, do you embrace it or what? You had to

:12:05. > :12:06.embrace it, and celebrate for a bit. You have too enjoyed the

:12:07. > :12:13.exhilaration, then get right down to work. I would have somebody else

:12:14. > :12:17.read the newspapers for you. I wouldn't set eyes on them. It is

:12:18. > :12:20.good to read these papers today. I would get somebody else to read

:12:21. > :12:26.them, and tell you which ones to read. All good, right? Billie Jean

:12:27. > :12:29.used to cut out the articles about Martina, because you didn't want to

:12:30. > :12:35.read them, good or bad, to remain focused. It is hard. I tried that a

:12:36. > :12:41.couple of times, don't read what they are writing. I am not in the

:12:42. > :12:45.same situation as Jo was. Did you see the papers today? It is hard,

:12:46. > :12:52.even in the locker room, your alleged friends... I feel for what

:12:53. > :12:59.they said about you? I'm, like, sorry. Even if people have it cut

:13:00. > :13:05.out, they have other ways of getting it. Social media, online, you can go

:13:06. > :13:11.on and on. The pressure and expectation. As far as playing Venus

:13:12. > :13:15.Williams, the two matches she has struggled with is Vekic and Garcia.

:13:16. > :13:22.This is a similar player with more experience. Absolutely. Venus is

:13:23. > :13:27.looking remarkably good. She is playing, to me, we have watched her

:13:28. > :13:32.so many years, and it used to be that she had a big game, huge serve,

:13:33. > :13:38.but she is playing a more thoughtful game. A really mature one. I enjoy

:13:39. > :13:46.watching her more now than when she was young and a little green around

:13:47. > :13:54.the edges still. Obviously, when the tournament started and we got word

:13:55. > :13:59.that this was a major distraction, and you were wondering why she was

:14:00. > :14:04.here, and if she can handle this, as time has gone on, it appears that

:14:05. > :14:11.what happened was a horrible, freak thing. It wasn't her fault. I think

:14:12. > :14:16.that was able to relax everyone, including herself, even though it is

:14:17. > :14:19.still terrible. And then I think to myself, she is the best grass court

:14:20. > :14:24.player out of all of these players, she has been there and done this the

:14:25. > :14:27.most. It isn't if she hasn't had a good year. In Australia, she got to

:14:28. > :14:31.the final and her sister beat her. She had a decent run in the French,

:14:32. > :14:37.so why isn't she the favourite to win this? I know. In some ways, she

:14:38. > :14:40.is. At this end of the tournament, a lot of it is experience, having been

:14:41. > :14:46.there before. That is absolutely true. Winning is a habit. The more

:14:47. > :14:51.matches you win, the more you know how to think in crucial points. I

:14:52. > :14:58.think Venus is on top of her game, actually. Physically, I think Jo

:14:59. > :15:02.might have the edge on her. But Venus makes up with the extra reach

:15:03. > :15:11.she has. Arms and legs going on forever. Jo might be a wee bit

:15:12. > :15:15.tired. That was quite a tough match. Physically and emotionally, she is

:15:16. > :15:20.in tiptop shape, no question about that. She dug in, and that was two

:15:21. > :15:29.hours and 40 minutes earlier in the tournament. She has had some close

:15:30. > :15:32.matches. Someone natural, especially if things don't go well in the

:15:33. > :15:37.beginning, it will be a tall order to beat Venus. We offered to sing on

:15:38. > :15:45.Jo, in the other semifinal, Magdalene by Rarick over --

:15:46. > :15:49.Rybarikova, incredible. She has played so well. Talk about somebody

:15:50. > :15:53.going under the radar. On the other hand, on the other side of the net,

:15:54. > :15:56.she has Muguruza, who has also gone under the radar. People forget she

:15:57. > :16:04.was in the final of Wimbledon last year. She won the French, I mean she

:16:05. > :16:10.is not anybody to sniff at. I think she prefers not having all the

:16:11. > :16:13.pressure on her. When she, when Muguruza is expected to win, that is

:16:14. > :16:18.when she crumbles a little bit. Everyone prefers not to have all the

:16:19. > :16:22.pressure on them. I had picked Pliskova, she positioned herself,

:16:23. > :16:26.figured out how to utilise the strengths in her game. And I

:16:27. > :16:31.thought, the pressure got to her. Maybe it did a little bit, but who

:16:32. > :16:36.is this person that played her? As the tournament has gone on, I'm

:16:37. > :16:41.like, wait a second. This isn't just about her playing poorly, this is

:16:42. > :16:44.about Rybarikova stepping up, and she can really play on this surface.

:16:45. > :16:50.She dominated Vandeweghe. Surprisingly. Surprisingly easy.

:16:51. > :16:56.Also, when Muguruza is playing freely, she is difficult to beat on

:16:57. > :17:00.this surface. There are a couple of players on the women's side who hit

:17:01. > :17:05.the ball so hard and so cleanly, of course, Ostapenko is one, playing

:17:06. > :17:10.Venus yesterday, that was difficult for her. It was her first match ever

:17:11. > :17:16.on Centre Court. She won the juniors. Next year, she will be

:17:17. > :17:21.ready for that. Boy, does she hit a super forehand, a bit like yours,

:17:22. > :17:26.actually. Thank you, Virginia. You can come on this show any time you

:17:27. > :17:33.like. I usually get ganged up on! I always say that! Anything else you

:17:34. > :17:38.would like to say? ! No! We don't talk about that or the serve. How

:17:39. > :17:45.were you in the Royal box? You had the best seat in the House. If you

:17:46. > :17:52.want to watch tennis. I suggest the front row in the middle of the court

:17:53. > :17:56.hind. Win Wimbledon, and you can maybe get a seat in the front row.

:17:57. > :18:04.How can we get there? That is a different story. I had my first trip

:18:05. > :18:08.in 39 years last year. Second row. I think we can manipulate that a bit.

:18:09. > :18:13.Lovely to see you, Virginia. Thank you very much. You are staying

:18:14. > :18:17.there. Pat Cash will join us in a moment. I wonder what has happened

:18:18. > :18:18.to the weather. Arriving this morning, it felt like winter. Let's

:18:19. > :18:27.find out with Carol. It was chilly this morning and a

:18:28. > :18:29.cold northerly breeze. As we go through this afternoon, we are

:18:30. > :18:33.looking at some sunny spells developing more than we currently

:18:34. > :18:39.have, and with the breeze dying down, it will feel pleasant, highs

:18:40. > :18:43.of 22 or 23. Into the evening, it should stay dry with sunny spells,

:18:44. > :18:48.and with a light breeze again feeling very nice. As we head into

:18:49. > :18:51.tomorrow. A lot of dry weather to start the day, sunshine from the

:18:52. > :18:56.word go. Fairweather cloud developing through most of the day,

:18:57. > :19:02.but not much more than that. Temperatures up a notch on today, 24

:19:03. > :19:05.Celsius. All in all, very nice. But the pollen level is back up again

:19:06. > :19:10.and is high. SUE BARKER: I have a bone to pick.

:19:11. > :19:15.Yesterday, when we carried on working, where did you go? We saw

:19:16. > :19:19.shots of you sitting alongside Judy Murray, watching Jamie's mixed

:19:20. > :19:27.doubles match. There you are. Getting very excited. What were you

:19:28. > :19:32.talking about, all things Strictly? Strictly. I have never seen Jamie

:19:33. > :19:35.played before and he won. It was brilliant. You looked like you

:19:36. > :19:40.enjoyed it. You sent me a text in the evening to meet for a drink. I

:19:41. > :19:44.had to decline, but remember, after you finish breakfast tomorrow, we

:19:45. > :19:49.are meeting for breakfast. I am looking forward to that, Sue. I

:19:50. > :20:00.heard a birdie tell me that you are buying. Not again! We will see...

:20:01. > :20:07.Thank you, now Pat Cash is here. First of all, disappointment for

:20:08. > :20:14.Coco Vanderweghe, what happened? Coach? Where do you want to start,

:20:15. > :20:18.nerves primarily. The good thing with her is, we sat down last night

:20:19. > :20:23.and we had a very frank conversation, probably the most

:20:24. > :20:29.frank she has ever got from any of her coaches in her life. We were on

:20:30. > :20:32.the practice court, and we will be there in half an hour for a couple

:20:33. > :20:38.of hours. Andy Murray will have to win without me. And we are moving

:20:39. > :20:45.forward. We have a good game plan. She brought me in for this, the game

:20:46. > :20:50.plan was to get it so she can compete, and be ready for a Grand

:20:51. > :20:54.Slam. Had she won yesterday, she would have been challenging for a

:20:55. > :21:01.Grand Slam, but it wasn't to be. In the back of my mind, it was weird.

:21:02. > :21:06.As a coach, I have always wanted to improve and get better. I couldn't

:21:07. > :21:10.touch anything, because we are in the middle of Wimbledon. We can't

:21:11. > :21:14.fix any of these things. I am seeing it, and I am going, I want her to

:21:15. > :21:20.win, but as soon as she loses, we can get on the practice court. It is

:21:21. > :21:25.really good signs. Good luck with that. It is men's quarterfinals day.

:21:26. > :21:29.First, let's look at the draw as it stands at the moment. At the top is

:21:30. > :21:34.the defending champion, world number one Andy Murray, up against Sam

:21:35. > :21:41.Querrey. Gilles Muller, who put out Rafa Nadal, against Marin Cilic.

:21:42. > :21:45.Milos Raonic against Roger Federer. We will start with Federer and

:21:46. > :21:48.Raonic. A repeat of last year's semifinal, you were the coach in the

:21:49. > :21:55.chair that date. What went wrong then? Nothing. That was the biggest

:21:56. > :22:00.win of his life. He needs to bring some emotional intensity. He has

:22:01. > :22:06.developed a way to handle his nerves, and stress, and what people

:22:07. > :22:10.expect from him, and what he expects from himself, which by the way is

:22:11. > :22:13.quite a bit. He has gone out there and laid it on the line, which I

:22:14. > :22:16.give him credit for. He wants to be the best in the world and is doing

:22:17. > :22:21.what it takes, not trying to sneak in the back door. When you have

:22:22. > :22:27.these four guys to content with, the top guys, that is a statement, to

:22:28. > :22:30.say that you belong in the same breath, and someday you will be

:22:31. > :22:34.number one in the world. The fact he was able to step it up and play with

:22:35. > :22:39.a lot of heart, I think he understands that that is what he

:22:40. > :22:42.needs to do. I said, listen, you understand there is not a single

:22:43. > :22:47.person in the stands that wants you to win. Most of your box wants you

:22:48. > :22:51.to win. I think all of them. But other than that, you are not going

:22:52. > :22:55.to get support. But if you show fight and hunger, and you show how

:22:56. > :23:00.much you actually do care, because I know you care, they will respect

:23:01. > :23:04.that. Yeah. It won't be quite as one-sided. He was able to do that.

:23:05. > :23:12.Roger is in a way better place than last year. He is a guy that has had

:23:13. > :23:17.a lot of injuries. He has missed four events, pulling out in the

:23:18. > :23:23.quarters or semis. He missed a couple, pulled out of a view, didn't

:23:24. > :23:27.play. In the last couple of months, he has pulled out while being in the

:23:28. > :23:36.tournament. I am happy to see me lost is able to go the distance,

:23:37. > :23:42.which was an important ask for him. I said to him, "Listen, this guy is

:23:43. > :23:49.going to blow by you, in terms of his aura, and this guy..." He will

:23:50. > :23:54.be number one in a couple of years, this guy, but it is not yet. You

:23:55. > :24:01.have got to say, "Not yet." You had to dig deep and do that. I give him

:24:02. > :24:05.credit that he did that. Times that by 2-3, and you may be able to deal

:24:06. > :24:09.with this guy again. This will be a tall order. But he is one of the few

:24:10. > :24:15.guys that can take the racket out of your hands. In terms of the service,

:24:16. > :24:22.the service is a huge thing. What can he do? Nobody has been able to

:24:23. > :24:28.get near Federer's serve. Roger, as we have seen in the tournament, has

:24:29. > :24:32.passed 10,000 aces in his career. It is underrated how awesome his serve

:24:33. > :24:41.is. But you had to make this guy work as much as possible, obviously.

:24:42. > :24:47.I think he is human, I believe... If you had told me, after watching the

:24:48. > :24:52.lost in the semis, beat Roger, when he limped off, clearly the need

:24:53. > :24:58.affected him in the fifth set, not playing a tournament the six months,

:24:59. > :25:07.he went back to Australia and won 3 five set matches. Against Nadal, the

:25:08. > :25:12.roughest customer he has had to deal with, I would have said, you are out

:25:13. > :25:19.of your mind. He isn't human, you are right! The pressure is off Milos

:25:20. > :25:28.. I know he was a finalist last year. If he doesn't win this, he

:25:29. > :25:33.will drop six, seven, to ten. He will be further out of the picture.

:25:34. > :25:41.Everyone respects and loves Roger, I do as well, for the other guys, this

:25:42. > :25:50.is a big, big match for the lost Raonic. It would turn around his

:25:51. > :26:01.last 12 months. Let's move into Berdych. Does he have enough variety

:26:02. > :26:08.to have any effect on Djokovic? He hits the ball as clean as anybody on

:26:09. > :26:16.the tour. He is a big serving guy. Today is a tricky day. A bit of

:26:17. > :26:19.Ruiz, blowing on Court One. No roof. The ball is all over the place. That

:26:20. > :26:30.is not necessarily going to help the guy with the big ball toss. Berdych

:26:31. > :26:35.will play as Berdych does. He comes out and hit it hard. Comes to the

:26:36. > :26:40.net occasionally. From time to time, he is a bit slow. But Djokovic, I

:26:41. > :26:52.don't know where he is at. He played OK yesterday. He got past Mannarino.

:26:53. > :26:56.With Novak, mentally, obviously, we discuss that, where is his head at?

:26:57. > :27:01.Physically, he called the train are three different times during that

:27:02. > :27:07.match. Yes. If you said to me before that... This is something he had an

:27:08. > :27:13.issue with last year. It has been an ongoing problem and it has reared

:27:14. > :27:20.its ugly head. I would say, Berdych, the way he hits the ball. If your

:27:21. > :27:24.arm is hurting, you don't want to play him. I don't know if this is a

:27:25. > :27:28.figment of his own imagination, maybe it goes away in one day, which

:27:29. > :27:32.would seem improbable if you are hurting, and all of a sudden, the

:27:33. > :27:38.next day better. I would say Berdych has no chance of beating him. The

:27:39. > :27:45.head-to-head is pretty 5-2. Djokovic has won the last 12. If there was

:27:46. > :27:49.ever a time, if he watches Novak play, he is sitting and shaking out

:27:50. > :27:58.his arm for two thirds of the match. I thought he hit the ball great. He

:27:59. > :28:03.lost about 5% on his serve. He is not hitting the ball as big.

:28:04. > :28:13.Mannarino is a nice player, hits a ball around. That will test him now

:28:14. > :28:18.for sure. He is getting his arm manipulated and loosened up. I

:28:19. > :28:22.wasn't eavesdropping after the match, but going through the locker

:28:23. > :28:30.room, I could see his team around and concerned. He was describing,

:28:31. > :28:34.something wasn't right. They were, like, "OK, OK." It is none of my

:28:35. > :28:40.business, really. But there is concern around him. He had the train

:28:41. > :28:47.on, he took some pills. He may be felt disorientated. I wasn't nosy,

:28:48. > :28:52.not that nosy, so I realised what they were concerned about, it may be

:28:53. > :28:59.wasn't his shoulder. Did you offer a massage? I got out of the way, that

:29:00. > :29:02.was the best thing I could do! The other quarterfinal is Gilles Muller

:29:03. > :29:10.against Marin Cilic. Gilles Muller, what a win that was. He has beaten

:29:11. > :29:13.him before here. That, to me, Muller, by far and away, nothing is

:29:14. > :29:20.even close. The fact he was able to win that after having lost the third

:29:21. > :29:24.and fourth set, Nadal on a roll, maybe he would keep it going. Then

:29:25. > :29:29.you think that Nadal will get to him. He saved four match points, I

:29:30. > :29:35.think, 15-40, the crowd is going nuts. The fact he could win that

:29:36. > :29:41.from there, it shows how tough a customer he is on that court. To me,

:29:42. > :29:47.I would be worried. The guy is 34, not as old as he used to be in

:29:48. > :29:51.tennis, you can recover. How many hours is it? Less than 48 hours.

:29:52. > :29:57.Cilic is real fresh. He is playing really well on the grass. It is a

:29:58. > :29:58.tall order to go from the high of Nadal, and the physical beating he

:29:59. > :30:12.took, and turn around to beat Cilic. I spoke to Younus Bjorkman after the

:30:13. > :30:15.match. Two and to the last round. He said I have never seen him hit the

:30:16. > :30:20.ball like that off the ground, phenomenal the way he is playing. He

:30:21. > :30:30.will also disrupt your rhythm. He will serve and volley. These massive

:30:31. > :30:35.left-handed serves. Even though he has beaten Rafa Nadal, you have to

:30:36. > :30:42.favour Cilic, fresh. Talking about guys and people maturing at

:30:43. > :30:48.different rates, some play unbelievable at 17 and other players

:30:49. > :30:53.still going great in their 30s. Muller is a great example, it is a

:30:54. > :31:00.great story to see guys do that. We were not playing at that age. I made

:31:01. > :31:05.it to a few months before my 34th birthday and I thought that was

:31:06. > :31:12.pretty good. To see these guys, you think, you sort of wish we knew what

:31:13. > :31:20.they know now. Maybe we did and were not as willing to implement it.

:31:21. > :31:25.You need trainers rather than musicians to hang out with! It is

:31:26. > :31:30.time to move. We are on the countdown to go to Centre Court.

:31:31. > :31:35.There is one match we have not talked about. The winner of that

:31:36. > :31:42.match, Muller and Cilic, will take on the winner of Andy Murray against

:31:43. > :31:45.Sam Querrey. Andy was on court on Monday, playing Benoit Paire, and

:31:46. > :31:54.after the match he dropped into the studio. COMMENTATOR: The waiting is

:31:55. > :32:03.over, Andy Murray is Wimbledon champion. He is there, Wimbledon

:32:04. > :32:08.champion, again. Over my career I have played my best

:32:09. > :32:13.tennis on Centre Court and had some of my best memories from the

:32:14. > :32:18.Olympics and two titles and the final against Roger which was tough

:32:19. > :32:24.but one that I remember very well. I love the conditions here. It showed

:32:25. > :32:29.in the results. You face Sam Querrey, who you have met a number

:32:30. > :32:33.of times and have beaten him in straight sets here a few years ago

:32:34. > :32:40.and at the Australian Open. You seem to like playing a big server. Or,

:32:41. > :32:47.you do well against them. It is always difficult, you have to be

:32:48. > :32:54.focused. I need to make sure I am concentrating all of the time. And I

:32:55. > :32:58.don't give them chances, against big servers, generally, when they are

:32:59. > :33:02.ahead, they are good front runners so try not to give them too many

:33:03. > :33:08.leads. Scheduling is an issue. A lot of the women have said they have

:33:09. > :33:15.been on outside courts. Angelique Kerber, Muguruza. Jelena Ostapenko

:33:16. > :33:23.had not been on a show court. It is tricky to solve. I do not think it

:33:24. > :33:28.is that difficult. I just think they should maybe start matches earlier

:33:29. > :33:35.on Centre Court and Court Number One. Then it is easy to fit two men

:33:36. > :33:39.and two women, if you start at 11, 11:30am, when they do on the outside

:33:40. > :33:47.courts, that would make things easier. Just having a little bit

:33:48. > :33:51.more time would allow them to fit more matches on to the Stadium

:33:52. > :33:58.courts. I wonder whether the grounds men would think centre and one are

:33:59. > :34:03.the only two that have to be played on all days of the tournament so

:34:04. > :34:06.putting in another three hours of play, it may affect it as it goes

:34:07. > :34:15.through the second week maybe. Yes, that is possible. They are the ones

:34:16. > :34:23.who would know best. If the scheduling is an issue, something

:34:24. > :34:30.people want to see changed, that is something Wimbledon have to look at.

:34:31. > :34:35.I have been lucky that I have got to play my matches on the Centre Court.

:34:36. > :34:43.I am obviously very happy and pleased to do that. If people would

:34:44. > :34:48.rather I play more on the outside courts and switch the scheduling

:34:49. > :34:52.around, that is something that has to be looked at. You are going well

:34:53. > :34:58.and Konta is going well and your brother knows how to pick mixed

:34:59. > :35:06.doubles partners. Martina Hingis. I think it was Martina that asked him.

:35:07. > :35:10.To play. He is lucky. She is one of the best doubles players in the

:35:11. > :35:17.world and her record in mixed doubles is phenomenal. When the men

:35:18. > :35:22.are serving to her, she uses pace well and has great timing and a

:35:23. > :35:26.great eye, so hopefully they have a good run. Your mother hinted maybe

:35:27. > :35:33.one day you might claim here with Jamie in the doubles. I would love

:35:34. > :35:36.to. -- you might play here with Jamie in the doubles. Maybe when I

:35:37. > :35:41.have done with playing singles and hopefully that is not for a long

:35:42. > :35:46.time. It would be easier to do it while I am still playing singles, if

:35:47. > :35:52.it was not best-of-5 in the doubles. The older I get, playing a best-of-5

:35:53. > :35:56.singles potentially followed by a best-of-5 doubles, I am not sure I

:35:57. > :36:03.would cope these days. I would love to do that. We played the Olympics

:36:04. > :36:07.together and represented our country in Davis Cup and played great

:36:08. > :36:11.matches but never have played at Wimbledon and I would love to do

:36:12. > :36:16.that before we finish. I know your family would love to see that. As

:36:17. > :36:21.your mother forgiven the comment about her cooking on BBC Breakfast?

:36:22. > :36:26.I cannot remember. You said her cooking was awful. You were asked to

:36:27. > :36:33.grade your grandmother, wife and mother in cooking, and you dismissed

:36:34. > :36:37.Judy straightaway. Yes, I have not spoken to her about it but I have

:36:38. > :36:42.told her over the years, that when we were younger and she said, I

:36:43. > :36:49.never had time to cook, I was so busy. We used to get ready meals, a

:36:50. > :36:58.microwave... She did not cook loads of good stuff for us. She always did

:36:59. > :37:03.good deserts. But yes, never the healthy stuff. You have saved

:37:04. > :37:12.yourself. I know your grandmother is wonderful anyway, but how is Sophia?

:37:13. > :37:18.It must be nice to go to your own home, playing Wimbledon. She is

:37:19. > :37:23.great, growing up quick. All parents say that and I was like, that is

:37:24. > :37:30.ridiculous. Time goes the same always. But she is growing up quick.

:37:31. > :37:37.She is 17 months. This time of the year is great. We get to hopefully

:37:38. > :37:43.be at home six, seven weeks in a row, and obviously days like today,

:37:44. > :37:50.she will be in bed about now, having her bath, so I get to see her in the

:37:51. > :37:54.morning when I leave. It is great to get to do that for a consistent

:37:55. > :37:57.period. The rest of the year we do not get that and it is another

:37:58. > :38:03.reason why I enjoy this part of the year so much.

:38:04. > :38:07.It was great to chat to Andy on Monday with his comments on the

:38:08. > :38:13.scheduling of men's and ladies' Detective is strong. And he walks

:38:14. > :38:18.out on Centre Court shortly and we are on our way there right now but

:38:19. > :38:21.how is he looking after a day of rest? Lee McKenzie earlier was

:38:22. > :38:26.joined by Leon Smith on the practice courts to watching it.

:38:27. > :38:32.I am delighted to say Leon Smith joins me and all the talk getting

:38:33. > :38:36.into Wimbledon was about Andy and whether he would be fit enough. Now

:38:37. > :38:40.he is at this stage she must be delighted with the way he has

:38:41. > :38:44.progressed so far? Definitely, he is experienced enough to know you do

:38:45. > :38:49.not always come into the Championships feeling 100% and I do

:38:50. > :38:52.not think it was different to Paris where people questioned his form and

:38:53. > :38:59.the amount of Tennessee played and he worked his way through the draw

:39:00. > :39:03.well on probably his weakest surface, then you come to the grass

:39:04. > :39:07.of Wimbledon, he is at home, has his team around him. He might be walking

:39:08. > :39:12.funny and everybody is studying bat, but when you watch the points and

:39:13. > :39:17.when he is in play, he is moving well. Sam Querrey is dangerous. He

:39:18. > :39:21.put out Novak Djokovic last year but Andy has had the upper hand on many

:39:22. > :39:29.occasions, how big a danger Will he be today? I am not saying there are

:39:30. > :39:34.no expectations on him. He is laid back, he has a huge serve, which is

:39:35. > :39:41.why he beat Novak last year and he has the weapons to hit through. But

:39:42. > :39:46.if you have a seven and one win loss record, there is a story about the

:39:47. > :39:51.match ups and Andy can take away his strength, the serve, which creates

:39:52. > :39:56.pressure on Sam in his service games. As long as Andy serves well,

:39:57. > :40:02.I think the record will remain intact. You are keeping an eye on a

:40:03. > :40:07.junior. I have seen Andy hitting with Adie quite a lot and he does

:40:08. > :40:12.give a lot back to British tennis. Behind us, there are two Glasgow

:40:13. > :40:16.boys playing in the junior event and Aidan, coached by my brother Toby

:40:17. > :40:22.the last seven years and Andy has been terrific with them. It would be

:40:23. > :40:26.easy to hit with older guys in the Championships, but he has been

:40:27. > :40:30.hitting with Aidan and others and they get on court with Andy, Ivan.

:40:31. > :40:35.It gives everyone confidence and is a good way to prepare for the junior

:40:36. > :40:45.event and Jamie Murray has taken a deed to the preseason training camp

:40:46. > :40:51.in Florida and took into Monte Carlo so a lot of give back from the

:40:52. > :40:57.Murrays. He does help youngsters at home and in Miami. Centre Court is

:40:58. > :41:04.getting ready for the first quarterfinal today and it is Andy

:41:05. > :41:10.Murray against Sam Querrey. We have come down here from Henman Hill.

:41:11. > :41:23.Matt has been saying about Sam Querrey today. I said the Americans

:41:24. > :41:34.would ruin the party. I am not sure about that. Neither am I! Andy was

:41:35. > :41:40.in a sticky situation against Fabio Fognini, in which Fabio Fognini

:41:41. > :41:45.imploded. There was a situation where he could have forced five

:41:46. > :41:53.sets. At the time, Murray sneaking out of the fourth set could have

:41:54. > :42:02.been the best thing. The extra stress on the hip. Also, my biggest

:42:03. > :42:07.concern, Andy has not really got any players who have given him rhythm.

:42:08. > :42:18.Fabio Fognini a little bit but Benoit Paire, Dustin Brown, Bublik.

:42:19. > :42:25.They have not given him rhythm. Having said that, he will not get it

:42:26. > :42:31.today. He does not want it! If he gets through and then faces somebody

:42:32. > :42:37.like Cilic, that is a worry, but one step at a time. One of Sam's biggest

:42:38. > :42:42.beings is his serve and one of Andy's best things is his return and

:42:43. > :42:49.it should neutralise. Murray has got to be aggressive and if he is not,

:42:50. > :42:55.Sam will get around enough forehands. He has to open up the

:42:56. > :42:58.backhand and come in some of the time and attack the weaker side of

:42:59. > :43:07.Sam Querrey but if he starts pushing the ball around... I saw Sam briefly

:43:08. > :43:14.yesterday. I can promise you, and I am not coaching him, we talked about

:43:15. > :43:21.the laser cup coming up in September. Hopefully like a Ryder

:43:22. > :43:26.Cup event -- Laver Cup. He does not want to let Andy get into a rhythm.

:43:27. > :43:32.If he does that, forget it, he has no chance. He has two utilises

:43:33. > :43:38.weapons. The forehand, the serve. Like Novak, the big issue is Andy

:43:39. > :43:43.rose to 100% to use his physical attributes and skill to track down

:43:44. > :43:48.enough balls. We have got to change channels. We are moving from BBC One

:43:49. > :43:54.and will start up on BBC Two in a moment and we will hear the rest of

:43:55. > :43:56.the answer on BBC Two in a moment. From Centre Court, goodbye.
