:00:10. > :00:17.This is the national programme. Now we are going to take you over to

:00:18. > :00:30.Wimbledon. That's it. He's done it! Her Majesty will present the trophy.

:00:31. > :00:34.Brilliant! Oh, yes! Perfect! Irresistible! Majestic! Wimbledon

:00:35. > :01:09.champion again! What a volley! Look at their

:01:10. > :01:13.reaction. It is a trio of consecutive Wimbledon titles, three

:01:14. > :01:22.in a row, for Jordanne Whiley and Yui Kamiji. That was last year and

:01:23. > :01:26.we shall find out if Jordanne Whiley and Yui Kamiji can do it again. As

:01:27. > :01:30.you can see, already a crowd gathered around Roger Federer are

:01:31. > :01:33.warming up on court number eight ahead of his attempt at a record

:01:34. > :01:37.eight Wimbledon title, playing Marin Cilic at 2 o'clock on Centre Court.

:01:38. > :01:43.Build-up to that will start at one o'clock on BBC One. On BBC Two we

:01:44. > :01:46.are focused on court number three and behind me warming up is Jordanne

:01:47. > :01:50.Whiley going for a fourth consecutive title with her partner,

:01:51. > :01:56.who she describes as a bag for life. She means that in a very, entryway!

:01:57. > :02:00.I am delighted to be joined by Steve Brown and Alfie Hewett who won the

:02:01. > :02:04.doubles title with Gordon Reid yesterday and Peter Norfolk.

:02:05. > :02:07.Thankfully the weather has been kind to us. Yes, much better than

:02:08. > :02:12.yesterday. Somebody that the weather did not bother so much is the 2017

:02:13. > :02:16.Wimbledon champion Alfie Hewett. Congratulations! I have seen

:02:17. > :02:19.pictures all over the internet and social media of you celebrating with

:02:20. > :02:26.your partner Gordon Reid. How does it feel to be a champion defending

:02:27. > :02:29.the title? It feels amazing. There were a lot of questions asked about

:02:30. > :02:35.us going into the event. We didn't really have very good form against

:02:36. > :02:39.the French. To play them in the final, it was a battle and a half.

:02:40. > :02:43.To wake up this morning, I keep reliving the moment in my head. I

:02:44. > :02:49.have actually watched the third set tie-break already. We notice only

:02:50. > :02:54.half of view is here. Where is Gordon? He is on holiday and that is

:02:55. > :02:59.all I can say! We will stick with that! Hopefully better weather than

:03:00. > :03:04.you had yesterday. How much did that rain bother you? It was tough. We

:03:05. > :03:07.practised on the other court this week and they were much harder. As

:03:08. > :03:12.soon as we got to court number three we realised that it was much softer,

:03:13. > :03:15.I think because of the drizzle in the morning. That meant the wheels

:03:16. > :03:21.were digging in. It was very tough to push. If anyone was watching,

:03:22. > :03:26.Gordon had to raise his anti-tip at the beginning of the warm up to get

:03:27. > :03:33.all three wheels off the ground. The whole first set, it was raining. It

:03:34. > :03:37.wasn't heavy enough to stop play, but it made it incredibly tough for

:03:38. > :03:42.us all to push, and we kept slipping. The movement was not as

:03:43. > :03:46.good. We could see that. Absolutely. Hopefully it is not a problem for

:03:47. > :03:54.the girls today. I caught up with them both yesterday after they had

:03:55. > :04:00.their semifinals when. -- semifinals win.

:04:01. > :04:06.Jordanne Whiley and Yui Kamiji set for a fourth successive women's

:04:07. > :04:10.doubles title. Still very much alive, that hope. This year feels

:04:11. > :04:14.much more special because of circumstances and me being out of

:04:15. > :04:16.the game for so long. I am not on form and if we were to get the win

:04:17. > :04:22.it would definitely feel more special to me and I think maybe to

:04:23. > :04:26.Yui as well because she has got to work harder! How does it feel when

:04:27. > :04:33.you know that your team-mate is not at the best fitness? It is not too

:04:34. > :04:42.important. When I am not good on the court, she can play better than me.

:04:43. > :04:46.We can step up together. We can say many things, smiling. It is not too

:04:47. > :04:50.important. What is it about the chemistry? How do you do so well

:04:51. > :04:54.together? I think me and you have something very special which not a

:04:55. > :04:59.lot of doubles partners have, which is a strong friendship base. That is

:05:00. > :05:05.a foundation without the tennis. If I am not on form, if Yui is not on

:05:06. > :05:09.form, we have that base already and that is enough to make a smile and

:05:10. > :05:14.have energy. We are always going to try for each other. I think we are

:05:15. > :05:19.very lucky. How do you make each other smile? We just have our quirky

:05:20. > :05:23.jokes with each other. When Yui could not speak much English we

:05:24. > :05:33.would say little things like Miss you, hello, like this. When she is

:05:34. > :05:35.not playing very well, I am not playing very well, we just say Miss

:05:36. > :05:38.you! We miss each other's tennis. When you can't help but smile! Are

:05:39. > :05:44.you expecting to win? Yes! Simple as that? We are going to try our very

:05:45. > :05:47.best. It will be a tough match. Jordanne Whiley has been struggling

:05:48. > :05:52.with a wrist injury and the Dutch pair of very good. They are very

:05:53. > :05:55.quick, very dedicated, and ready for the match. There are quite a few

:05:56. > :06:00.injuries at the moment which is part of the problem of the long season.

:06:01. > :06:05.Jordanne was only just coming back so it will be a tough match for

:06:06. > :06:08.them. This court will fill up as the match progresses. Let's hand you

:06:09. > :06:14.over to our commentary team, Louise Brown and Nick Mullins.

:06:15. > :06:22.The Dutch pairing led by Diede De Groot, the women's single champion,

:06:23. > :06:55.to get this doubles final under way. That is Jordanne Whiley, from the

:06:56. > :07:34.West Midlands, but she is based more and more in London these days.

:07:35. > :07:46.What a couple of days it has been for this woman, Diede De Groot. She

:07:47. > :07:49.has risen to world number three in the rankings in no time at all. She

:07:50. > :07:57.is the bright young thing on the block.

:07:58. > :08:02.If you were watching her singles final, you will know that she is a

:08:03. > :08:07.powerful, dominant player, and he likes to play as much inside the

:08:08. > :08:20.baseline as possible. A real handful. -- she likes.

:08:21. > :08:33.A little bit of fortune. Action are urged by Marjolein Buis. --

:08:34. > :08:35.acknowledged by Marjolein Buis. The gap was there that aided by the net.

:08:36. > :09:24.Not too much you can do about those. That was very nicely played. The

:09:25. > :09:27.game wrapped up by Marjolein Buis. Who you know extraordinary well,

:09:28. > :09:34.Louise, because this time last year you were partnering her. We are good

:09:35. > :09:38.for all the gossip on Marjolein over the next couple of hours or how long

:09:39. > :09:44.this takes. What is it about this partnership that really impresses

:09:45. > :09:50.you? The strength you have got with De Groot's aggressiveness, Marjolein

:09:51. > :09:58.gives her the chance to use it by giving all those balls back.

:09:59. > :10:06.With these four players, there are four of the best movies on the tour

:10:07. > :10:09.as well. Although the grass is still tough, it doesn't affect these four

:10:10. > :10:28.women as much as some of the other players here.

:10:29. > :10:53.The Japanese and the British player unbeaten as a pair in 2014, 2015 and

:10:54. > :12:06.20 16. How extraordinary to do it again in 2017.

:12:07. > :12:14.That is the power from De Groot. It was great coverage really from

:12:15. > :12:25.Whiley and Kamiji, but just at that last point, that power out hit them

:12:26. > :12:34.at the end. All square at the start of this women's doubles final. They

:12:35. > :12:38.have not actually played that much together. They have not played at

:12:39. > :12:47.all. Part of a year. They were reunited here at Wimbledon. The last

:12:48. > :12:50.time they play together was here. Due to Jordanne Whiley having

:12:51. > :12:53.injuries and time-out, they have not been on court for a while, but we

:12:54. > :12:59.are witnessing here, in the semifinal and in these couple of

:13:00. > :13:09.games, it has not been too much of a hindrance. There is a synergy,

:13:10. > :13:16.lovely synergy between Kamiji and Whiley. We have been talking already

:13:17. > :13:21.about that in the chat where Jordanne called Kamiji her bag for

:13:22. > :13:23.life. It is just so natural. They know where each other is all the

:13:24. > :14:02.time. Just over rotated a little bit on

:14:03. > :14:05.that one. It is one of the things in wheelchair tennis that it is very

:14:06. > :14:29.important to keep your chair steady. If it drifts, you can push it along.

:14:30. > :14:32.Right now Kamiji and Whiley are struggling to deal with the power of

:14:33. > :15:09.De Groot's racket. It didn't really look like there was

:15:10. > :15:12.that much space in the middle. A lack of communication from the Dutch

:15:13. > :15:41.pair. Both hustling for the ball but no call.

:15:42. > :15:47.She went as hard as she could but such was the quality of the drop

:15:48. > :15:48.shot that it wasn't hard enough. A good effort to even get there, I

:15:49. > :16:09.think. And it is 2-1. Alfie, three games in, unfortunately

:16:10. > :16:13.Jordanne and Yui one game behind. Your thoughts? Those teams have

:16:14. > :16:19.really gone for it. It is good to see them pushing at the core and

:16:20. > :16:23.taking it to each other. Didi De Groot's forehand has been one of the

:16:24. > :16:27.strongest points of their game and I think both teams have been solid in

:16:28. > :16:32.not giving too many cheap points away. An aggressive start.

:16:33. > :16:35.Definitely. That is what you want to see in a tennis match, especially a

:16:36. > :16:39.doubles match in the final. If you go to the final and you don't feel

:16:40. > :16:44.like you have given it your all, you come off the court with regrets. It

:16:45. > :16:47.is good to see that they have have that mentality. Do you think of them

:16:48. > :16:52.winning the last three and going into the fourth final there will be

:16:53. > :16:57.some pressure? Yes, there will always be some pressure. Jordanne is

:16:58. > :17:00.always a home favourite and she has won multiple doubles titles, and

:17:01. > :17:06.they are strong pair. They are run for the fourth. Consecutive is it?

:17:07. > :17:31.And fourth title. Yui Kamiji, 23-year-old Japanese

:17:32. > :17:42.left-hander, the current world number one. Shira -- she regained

:17:43. > :17:58.the top spot from the Netherlands's Jiske Griffioen recently.

:17:59. > :18:08.Kamiji really lead the challenge initially to fill the gap in the

:18:09. > :18:16.sport left by the retirement of the iconic Esther. She was the one who

:18:17. > :18:20.said, hang on, you don't have to be a Dutch tennis player to be

:18:21. > :18:24.brilliant at this sport! She really started to raise the flag for other

:18:25. > :18:26.nations as well. Absolutely and it was really nice to see other nations

:18:27. > :19:09.in the top part of the rankings. I heard Gordon Reid talking about

:19:10. > :19:14.how difficult it was to push your way around that bare patch beyond

:19:15. > :19:21.the baseline. It was almost like much yesterday. There are some

:19:22. > :19:36.uneven bounces as well. -- it was almost like mud yesterday.

:19:37. > :19:44.Yet an interesting you mention the condition of the court. Of course

:19:45. > :19:46.you feel it underfoot but in the wheelchairs you can really feel it

:19:47. > :19:53.and it is a bizarre feeling because one minute you feel like you are

:19:54. > :20:03.flying and then you hit that patch and it stops your momentum.

:20:04. > :20:09.It is brilliant to be out here on court number three, one of the big

:20:10. > :20:15.show courts, but the semifinals were wrong court 17, so they have a lot

:20:16. > :20:19.of wheelchair use, and you can see how much a lush greenness there is

:20:20. > :20:20.on this one. Definitely more than the courts that they have been used

:20:21. > :20:41.to in this event. Yesterday players were using the

:20:42. > :20:48.green bits as the target for the drop shot because the ball really

:20:49. > :20:52.does die when it bounces on that. And even the two bounces advantage

:20:53. > :21:07.doesn't really benefit you on this surface.

:21:08. > :21:15.All four players have served now and all four have held onto their serve.

:21:16. > :21:19.Jordanne Whiley, one of the great standard-bearers for this sport in

:21:20. > :21:20.this country. Doing what she has done best alongside Gordon Reid and

:21:21. > :21:38.Alfie Hewett and Louise for so long. Just seeing a few more unforced

:21:39. > :21:44.errors from the Dutch side which is not so common, especially from

:21:45. > :22:43.Marjolein Buis. Surprising at this stage.

:22:44. > :23:15.Just crossing mat outside tramline. A handy response. Lots of you have

:23:16. > :23:19.been with us watching this sport for a long time now but making new

:23:20. > :23:24.friends all the time. Essentially the rules are exactly the same as

:23:25. > :23:54.able-bodied tennis, but that two bounce thing is important.

:23:55. > :24:00.Here is a moment for Kamiji and Whiley, a break point. First in the

:24:01. > :24:26.final so far. Pressure for De Groot. She covered the space well, didn't

:24:27. > :24:31.she? I guess the only other thing to talk about so that we all up to

:24:32. > :24:35.speed, if the ball hits the chair, you lose the point. No matter where

:24:36. > :24:36.you are, even if you are right at the back, if the ball hits the

:24:37. > :26:08.chair, it is your opponent's point. What a rally! How much hard work was

:26:09. > :26:12.involved in all of that? It must have been the longest rally of the

:26:13. > :26:17.match. What a fantastic point. Some amazing gets as well. It is

:26:18. > :26:20.interesting when the crowd don't realise you get two bounces and you

:26:21. > :26:26.hear some early cheering. But incredible pushing. Eventually the

:26:27. > :26:38.Dutch hold on, but only just. 3-2. Peter Norfolk sitting courtside

:26:39. > :26:43.alongside me. De Groot really under pressure there. The Dutch coming

:26:44. > :26:49.through. Absolutely and you can see an De Groot's forehand, that was her

:26:50. > :26:53.weapon and the longest rally of the match as well. The British pair have

:26:54. > :26:57.got to keep it short, actually. The backhand slice of Jordanne Whiley

:26:58. > :27:00.could prove really effective, particularly on this lush green

:27:01. > :27:04.court. You are right. If she can slice more, because it is just not

:27:05. > :27:08.coming up. With a top-spin everyone is using, it is really hard to get

:27:09. > :27:13.and it's only hope she can use it more. When we saw the doubles

:27:14. > :27:20.yesterday, for the men, Stephane Houdet had an incredible chair,

:27:21. > :27:22.expensive high-tech design. Is there any technical advantage for one

:27:23. > :27:26.power or another in this matter? Not particularly. I don't think so. They

:27:27. > :27:29.have set up the chairs so that they will roll on the grass and they do

:27:30. > :27:35.need to make it fast because where the grass is really green it is soft

:27:36. > :27:39.and hard to push on. We will see how this first set develops. We will

:27:40. > :27:43.rejoin Louise Hunt. Sorry for giving you a completely different surname

:27:44. > :27:51.earlier! And Nick Mullins. I will forgive you this time!

:27:52. > :28:00.Marjolein Buis on the right-hand side and Diede De Groot on the left.

:28:01. > :28:06.Wimbledon champion for the first time on her debut in the singles.

:28:07. > :28:12.Overpowered Sabine Ellerbrock, and here she is going for another

:28:13. > :28:14.Wimbledon title. To get it, she will have to rest it off the pair who

:28:15. > :29:40.have been dominant here recently. What an outstanding drop shot that

:29:41. > :29:41.was from Buis. She had lots of time to place it exactly where she

:29:42. > :30:26.wanted. Having had break points of their own

:30:27. > :30:41.in the previous service game, time now for Fiona and Dalli to deal with

:30:42. > :30:53.one against their names. -- time now for Whiley and Kamiji.

:30:54. > :31:05.And there is the first break for the Dutch pair. The Dutch looking to

:31:06. > :31:10.upgrade the Paralympic silver medal they took in Rio last year, upgraded

:31:11. > :31:18.into a first Wimbledon title together. De Groot of course as we

:31:19. > :31:36.have been seeing working for the singles and doubles double. This is

:31:37. > :31:43.Marjolein Buis. Buis plays a Paralympic medallist, won gold with

:31:44. > :31:45.the great Esther. And we were speaking about her. Silver last year

:31:46. > :32:08.with her partner today. APPLAUSE

:32:09. > :32:33.And a little bit of pressure here, Louise?

:32:34. > :32:38.With us yesterday, you will have heard us talking about the

:32:39. > :32:43.importance of the receiver, being on the move, spinning around, keeping

:32:44. > :32:47.those wheels going. It is crucial throughout every point, in fact.

:32:48. > :32:50.Keeping those wheels going constantly, so crucial, especially

:32:51. > :33:04.on grass where it is so hard to get moving again if you get stuck.

:33:05. > :33:15.A little bit awkward for Jordanne Whiley, but it may well have gone

:33:16. > :33:23.wrong. We will need our Harry Hawk-Eye to confirm. Oh. Close. She

:33:24. > :33:59.looks pleased with that challenge, doesn't you? Yes.

:34:00. > :34:08.Wonderful angle. The danger of that sliced backhand. Both players now

:34:09. > :34:12.are starting to open the court a little more, using the lines to

:34:13. > :34:23.their advantage. A little bit less play down the middle.

:34:24. > :34:30.That famous De Groot forehand. She has certainly been confident with

:34:31. > :34:32.that this week. Yes, you don't want to give her a target. You certainly

:34:33. > :35:17.don't. The Dutch have underlined the break

:35:18. > :35:24.of service by the fact that more hands make light work, they

:35:25. > :35:34.eventually lost the point and it is the Dutch lead 5-2.

:35:35. > :35:37.So at the end of that set, there are rackets clashing, is that simply

:35:38. > :35:42.don't communication? Yes, you always have to be on at the very first ball

:35:43. > :35:44.of the point. It does not seem like they are talking much. Perhaps they

:35:45. > :35:48.have played so much together they don't need to, but definitely with

:35:49. > :35:55.the points that you didn't know who was going to take it. Alfie,

:35:56. > :35:59.yesterday in your finals which you won the court did get a little damp,

:36:00. > :36:02.seeing lots of drop shots today, being held well on the grass, and

:36:03. > :36:07.your game the same yesterday. To the conditions make a difference on the

:36:08. > :36:10.ball there are? Yes, I thought the difference in the first set when

:36:11. > :36:16.there was a lot of rain compared to the second and third, the ball

:36:17. > :36:20.skidded through a lot more when it was wet, but it also died a lot more

:36:21. > :36:23.as well. Whereas when it was drier there was more of a natural balance

:36:24. > :36:29.which made it incredibly tough in the first set to be able to get to.

:36:30. > :36:33.You can also see the way that the rackets are held, had been

:36:34. > :36:38.wheelchair athletes, then when you have your able-bodied counterparts,

:36:39. > :36:43.the racket is held very differently. Yes, because we obviously have to

:36:44. > :36:50.push the chair at the same time. With a single-handed backhand, we

:36:51. > :36:54.need that have both hands on the wheel at the same time. I will talk

:36:55. > :37:06.to you more about that next. Let's get back to the tennis...

:37:07. > :37:21.A big kick on that ball. It is not a tactic on grass which is usually so

:37:22. > :37:39.effective. Yui Kamiji serving to stay in this first set.

:37:40. > :37:48.Mm three set points. Between Marjolein Buis and Diede de Groot,

:37:49. > :38:14.against the defending champions. And the three times champions have

:38:15. > :38:21.got some work to do, if they want to make it four at this year's

:38:22. > :38:27.Wimbledon. Nigel Liam Boyce and Diede de Groot have won the first

:38:28. > :38:35.set, 6-2. -- Marjolein Buis and Diede de Groot. Yes, Jordanne and

:38:36. > :38:40.Yui will have to fight pretty hard, big beat and try to find a bit more

:38:41. > :38:43.energy, Peter? Absolutely right. A long week and Jordanne is still

:38:44. > :38:47.fighting back from that long injury and you can see the grass has taken

:38:48. > :38:50.its toll on them now, quite heavy. I think they will have to change their

:38:51. > :38:55.tactics, short the point perhaps, and keep out the big long rallies.

:38:56. > :39:06.You really have to see, when they are playing those drop shots, the

:39:07. > :39:10.power needed through those shoulders to get to the back of the ball right

:39:11. > :39:12.up to it in time, especially on this soft surface, Alfie? Yes, compared

:39:13. > :39:15.to hard court you can normally get a few good pitches in there and glide

:39:16. > :39:18.to the drop shot whereas on the surface we have to constantly keep

:39:19. > :39:21.pushing to physically reach the ball then you have to be so quick with

:39:22. > :39:25.your hands to then decide which shot to play. One thing I touched on with

:39:26. > :39:30.you shortly ago, the grip on the racket, and how different it is from

:39:31. > :39:33.able-bodied tennis, where they can get their whole shoulders and swing

:39:34. > :39:39.into the shot. You simply don't have that in your locker, do you? No.

:39:40. > :39:42.Obviously we use the whole of our upper body, so we use the

:39:43. > :39:45.single-handed backhand to keep moving obviously, so that means we

:39:46. > :39:49.need to use a lot more of our shoulders, and if you can, your

:39:50. > :39:59.trunk, as much as possible, and you try to use as much as you can but in

:40:00. > :40:01.terms of ability, to put as much power. But, Peter, also tactics, and

:40:02. > :40:05.positioning, and particularly the short sharp drop shot on these

:40:06. > :40:10.courts working so well, but almost planning ahead to what your next job

:40:11. > :40:13.will be? Yes, it is like a game of chess. When serving you need to plan

:40:14. > :40:16.those shots ahead because you need to know when it is going so you can

:40:17. > :40:22.choose where it comes back. But you also to keep the chair moving at all

:40:23. > :40:25.times. Like Alfie just said, about using the chair to keep the rotation

:40:26. > :40:29.but also to keep moving because if you sit still you are a dead duck.

:40:30. > :40:34.Also saw important for the sport people get to see it at the top

:40:35. > :40:37.level. Huge numbers tuned in to watch Alfie and Gordon retained

:40:38. > :40:42.their title yesterday, from last year. What would you like to see is

:40:43. > :40:46.the next step for wheelchair tennis in Great Britain? Where we are now

:40:47. > :40:53.is just hugely different to when I started a few decades ago, and what

:40:54. > :40:56.Alfie and Gordon Reid have achieved is immense, and Jordanne, on her

:40:57. > :41:00.fourth defence of a Grand Slam. There is still room for movement, of

:41:01. > :41:04.course. We can move courts, we could be watching this on Centre Court,

:41:05. > :41:07.and that is what they have been doing at the Grand Slams, slowly

:41:08. > :41:11.moving up. Because there are more and more crowds coming in, more

:41:12. > :41:16.awareness, and it is amazing, really, I have to say. Fantastic. I

:41:17. > :41:25.am so pleased to be able to be here and, you know, commented and be part

:41:26. > :41:31.of it. I think the longest rally out there was 37 hits, and you had

:41:32. > :41:34.someone once yourself yesterday? Yes, one we had I was just

:41:35. > :41:37.constantly going into the net, because my arms were just gone. I

:41:38. > :41:41.said, Gordon, you have to keep going back because I am not heading that

:41:42. > :41:46.baseline. You can see today there are a lot of long rallies, so as

:41:47. > :41:49.Peter said you have to keep moving, because as soon as you get started

:41:50. > :41:55.on the squirt it makes it incredibly tough to get going again. I knew

:41:56. > :42:02.exactly what you're talking about, and I could hear Gordon at the back

:42:03. > :42:06.going, mine, mine, mine, and it must have made you feel great to know he

:42:07. > :42:10.had your back? Absolutely. He always has your back and he has such great

:42:11. > :42:13.movement on the court. I remember in the last rally I was just praying it

:42:14. > :42:19.would not come to me because I could feel it in my chest, I had nothing

:42:20. > :42:24.in me. When you talk about winning that point, there were some where it

:42:25. > :42:26.was just, break point, break point, and what is going through your head

:42:27. > :42:32.at that time? A lot of things really. So many game points, break

:42:33. > :42:37.point, big points in that match, and you just have to focus on what you

:42:38. > :42:40.need to do to be able to win it, and it makes it incredibly tough when

:42:41. > :42:46.you are in a final with so many people, because what you want to do

:42:47. > :42:51.is try to get over the line, and you can't, they just keep coming back,

:42:52. > :42:55.and it is one thing we are proud of, that our resilience yesterday was

:42:56. > :43:00.good and we did not... We didn't get down on ourselves, no matter the

:43:01. > :43:04.score. And it just shows how long that rally was, that it went on all

:43:05. > :43:08.through what you were saying there. Jordanne has gone back for a short

:43:09. > :43:13.break but she is back on court now, so first set to the Dutch, 6-2.

:43:14. > :43:21.Let's see how Jordanne Whiley and Yui Kamiji can respond. To get this

:43:22. > :43:50.second set under way, the world number three, Diede de Groot.

:43:51. > :44:00.De Groot, nearly a -year-old when she realised her legs were too

:44:01. > :44:08.short, or those around her dead, she had -- or those around who did and

:44:09. > :44:20.she had to wear prosthetics, took up the sport when she was seven. You

:44:21. > :44:24.have a real mixture of disabilities on this court actually.

:44:25. > :44:28.Interestingly, all from birth. On the tour there is a mixture but

:44:29. > :44:30.quite often the majority have had an accident so it is interesting to

:44:31. > :44:41.have a whole match for everybody actually has a birth disability.

:44:42. > :44:53.APPLAUSE Opportunity at the start of this

:44:54. > :45:18.second set for Kamiji and Whiley. And there you go. They needed a

:45:19. > :45:29.quick start to the second set, and the defending champions have it with

:45:30. > :45:34.the break. First game, second set. Out here on Court three where we had

:45:35. > :45:39.such fun and games yesterday with Hewett and Reid, and once more folk

:45:40. > :45:42.inside who will go back with the warmest of memories, the best of

:45:43. > :45:56.memories. One of the great days of the fortnight yesterday. And this is

:45:57. > :46:00.Jordanne Whiley. Talks powerfully, Louise, about what the sport has

:46:01. > :46:03.done for her. She was insecure growing up, bullied, not many

:46:04. > :46:08.friends, in and out of hospital, and tennis gave her the chance to

:46:09. > :46:11.believe in something, to shine. Effectively dead. Sometimes I think

:46:12. > :46:14.this sport is so much more than winning and losing. It gives you

:46:15. > :46:19.confidence and self belief and that, for me, is priceless. -- yes, it

:46:20. > :46:51.effectively dead. Oh, brilliant! What a combination,

:46:52. > :46:58.what a contest, between Jordanne Whiley and Diede de Groot. What a

:46:59. > :47:05.point. One of the most impressive of the match so far I think. Some

:47:06. > :47:49.incredible pushing from all sides. The feel on the ball as well.

:47:50. > :48:00.Oh. I almost feel for her there. Just reading long. -- just creeping

:48:01. > :48:48.long. LAUGHTER

:48:49. > :48:55.Oh! That is hustling and chasing of the

:48:56. > :48:59.highest order. Pushed on by her partner, encouraging her to get to

:49:00. > :49:08.that, but it was incredible, and a beautiful shot, straight down the

:49:09. > :49:15.line. Almost made it look too easy. St Mary 's Church, up the hill. Set

:49:16. > :50:07.fair for the day, I think. Cloudy but no rain.

:50:08. > :50:17.APPLAUSE It is the chair control as much as

:50:18. > :50:20.anything, really capturing it. Absolutely. Not just about the shots

:50:21. > :50:26.you hit by the timing and getting to the ball, the space you make. There

:50:27. > :50:31.is Jordanne's dad looking pretty relaxed at the moment. I love he is

:50:32. > :50:41.wearing his London supporting 2012 T-shirt. Yes, her dad, Keith, who

:50:42. > :50:49.was a Paralympic athlete in his own right, introduced his daughter to

:50:50. > :50:53.the sport, after she was born with brittle bone disease. Quite a

:50:54. > :50:58.special thing, yes. I have grown up with Jordanne so I have known Keith

:50:59. > :51:02.my whole life. We spent our time playing tennis with them as kids,

:51:03. > :51:13.and I think it has kept that love alive for the game for Jordanne. So

:51:14. > :51:19.you will have seen what the sport gave her when her life was not quite

:51:20. > :51:22.as much fun as it is today. Absolutely. Me and Jordanne have

:51:23. > :51:26.known each other well over 20 years and have been there to the good and

:51:27. > :51:30.the bad times and, yes, we have certainly had some experience is

:51:31. > :51:32.together, but it is exciting to see the positive effects this has had,

:51:33. > :51:56.on many of these athletes. They are back together for the first

:51:57. > :51:59.time in a year, and just not quite the synchronicity that they

:52:00. > :52:04.sometimes have, however the brilliance remains. It does. It is

:52:05. > :52:08.interesting we have seen a couple of points down the middle, a little bit

:52:09. > :52:10.of poor communication, which is unusual, but as you mention it could

:52:11. > :52:14.be a result of maybe not playing together for that amount of time.

:52:15. > :53:03.Leader looking happy with that shot. Well done, partners.

:53:04. > :54:00.And the Dutch hold on, but it is Kamiji and Whiley with a break of

:54:01. > :54:13.serve. A little bit of deja vu here, Alfie,

:54:14. > :54:18.from your final yesterday. Does losing that first set make much of a

:54:19. > :54:21.difference mentally? Yes, I think it makes it quite tough to come back.

:54:22. > :54:25.You want to go out with a strong start, give yourself a good set

:54:26. > :54:29.lead, especially in the final. You want that confidence behind you. I

:54:30. > :54:33.think Jordanne and Yui have done a good job of getting it back to a

:54:34. > :54:43.strong start in the second, they have been very solid, and not give

:54:44. > :54:47.away any cheap games or easy points, to build their confidence even more,

:54:48. > :54:50.which is good to see. You have seen their couple of times they have gone

:54:51. > :54:56.for the same ball and missed the ball. But overall who is standing

:54:57. > :55:01.out to you in terms of play? I think for me at the moment Yui Kamiji. I

:55:02. > :55:05.think she's using the slice really well on the court, keeping it low,

:55:06. > :55:09.making it hard for the Dutch to be aggressive. She has also use the

:55:10. > :55:13.drop shot very nicely as well. I felt those two have picked up their

:55:14. > :55:16.movement and are attacking a lot more. And the Dutch have been very

:55:17. > :55:23.solid at the same time, not giving away any cheap points. Marjolein is

:55:24. > :55:28.certainly making them play. Thank you, Alfie. A sticky first set for

:55:29. > :55:32.the defending champions, but encouraging that Kamiji and Whiley

:55:33. > :55:55.are certainly looking much more comfortable on Court.

:55:56. > :56:02.Yui Kamiji's coaching team there, looking pretty happy with that last

:56:03. > :56:06.point. They always look so relaxed and so cheerful, protein. Loving the

:56:07. > :56:10.fan! He is just showing off I think. It is actually not that warm.

:56:11. > :56:14.LAUGHTER Perfect that they have the flag on

:56:15. > :56:18.there for a bit of representation. Yes, it is fairly cooler today,

:56:19. > :56:25.hunted to near the start of the week. -- compared to nearer the

:56:26. > :56:48.start of the week. Kamiji, one of the stars of the Rio

:56:49. > :56:51.Paralympics last year. She will be an even bigger one in Tokyo in 2020,

:56:52. > :57:07.I guess, up there on the posters I imagine yes, Japan are up there

:57:08. > :57:10.along with ourselves and the Dutch, have had some phenomenal results.

:57:11. > :58:13.She will be up there alongside Shingo Kunieda.

:58:14. > :58:23.APPLAUSE A very solid hold. Now looking much

:58:24. > :58:29.more comfortable with life. They almost seem to have settled, haven't

:58:30. > :58:34.they? Yes, no question about that. How wonderful to have this as the

:58:35. > :58:40.showcase as well, one of the show courts here at Wimbledon Court

:58:41. > :58:45.three. Great to see Gordon saying after that win with fancy Centre

:58:46. > :58:52.Court, after not too long. LAUGHTER

:58:53. > :58:55.Anything is possible. I really feel, though, this week, a lot of

:58:56. > :58:57.spectators in, and I feel the support has been fantastic for the

:58:58. > :59:01.wheelchair events are we just hope to build on that more and more.

:59:02. > :59:07.Maybe one day we will be on Centre. We have made it to court three. Yes,

:59:08. > :59:08.I think the response to yesterday suggest it will be a popular

:59:09. > :59:57.decision. Wimbledon was the last of the Grand

:59:58. > :00:01.Slams to bring in the chairs, Louise, because there was always

:00:02. > :00:03.that feeling that on grass it would have been too difficult, but I think

:00:04. > :00:13.that argument has been dispelled since we first saw you guys here in

:00:14. > :00:17.2007. It is tougher, but we are all up to the challenge. Obviously I am

:00:18. > :00:19.biased but it is very special, I feel. You're right. Not biased, you

:00:20. > :00:43.are correct. LAUGHTER

:00:44. > :00:53.Whiley working hard defensively but the Hustler Marjolein Buis just too

:00:54. > :01:01.much. She is a difficult player to pass, that is for sure.

:01:02. > :01:16.Since that earliest break of serve, we have remained on serve.

:01:17. > :01:22.Peter Norfolk is sitting alongside me. You have just said that this

:01:23. > :01:35.will be a war of attrition. Absolutely, although Jordanne Whiley

:01:36. > :01:40.just got a second wind or something. This will turn out to be an

:01:41. > :01:46.interesting final. Jordanne has started out the second set sparkling

:01:47. > :01:50.and flying but Yui Kamiji really tries and she has had some great

:01:51. > :01:55.gets. She is 100% and everything she does is 100% and I think that is why

:01:56. > :02:01.Jordanne loves playing with her because she is always there, always

:02:02. > :02:04.smiling, always pushing, and that is the key, always pushing. Jordanne

:02:05. > :02:08.knows she has always got someone behind her and that is why they are

:02:09. > :02:12.such a great doubles team. It is important that they maintain their

:02:13. > :02:20.advantage. They have the break of serve. They are trying to level

:02:21. > :02:21.things up against this Dutch pair, seeded two at this year's Wimbledon.

:02:22. > :02:36.Back to Louise and Nick. Screen to the right, Martin Carol,

:02:37. > :02:45.an ex-performance player, world ranked, but also Jordanne 's

:02:46. > :02:46.boyfriend and he has been coaching her and encouraging her game. An

:02:47. > :03:21.expert on current knowledge. And Karen Ross and Stuart Wilkinson,

:03:22. > :03:29.who work with the tennis foundation who do such good work. One of the

:03:30. > :03:35.charities that have worked so hard for wheelchair tennis. Absolutely,

:03:36. > :03:39.the main charity. Karen and Stuart are here with all of the British

:03:40. > :03:42.players but in that area there are lots of Tennis Foundation staff who

:03:43. > :03:47.have worked hard to supporters through events and get the players

:03:48. > :03:53.in the best possible shape to compete. Behind them is Alex

:03:54. > :03:57.Cochrane, strength and conditioning coach for the wheelchair players,

:03:58. > :04:06.and a talented musician, writing and singing to raise money for sport.

:04:07. > :04:11.The coaching crew will know that Jordanne Whiley has issues here,

:04:12. > :04:33.three of them, in the form of break points.

:04:34. > :04:55.I just feel that Kamiji and Whiley are caught on the back foot at the

:04:56. > :04:59.moment. The Dutch pair are doing a good job of keeping them back but

:05:00. > :05:06.defensive play from Whiley. She is hitting more sliced forehands

:05:07. > :05:09.because they are so uncomfortable and they are jamming her up with

:05:10. > :05:13.those deep balls. You cannot sidestep or step back in a

:05:14. > :05:22.wheelchair, so movement is imperative. When you train, are you

:05:23. > :05:26.training purely on the court with the racket in hand or do you write

:05:27. > :05:31.on that mobility as well? You do both. There is a lot of an caught

:05:32. > :05:34.hitting and tennis sessions but we also have an court fitness sessions

:05:35. > :05:40.which are all about agility and movement. Tricky pushing drills to

:05:41. > :05:48.work on short, sharp movements and also endurance. We can be pushing

:05:49. > :05:51.for hours at a time. You also need to work on different types of

:05:52. > :05:56.pushing as well. You have short, sharp pushes that you need to get to

:05:57. > :05:59.a point, a bit like the one just demonstrated by Marjolein But when

:06:00. > :06:03.you are at the back waiting for the ball to come to you it is more about

:06:04. > :06:04.fluidity in your movement, longer pushes, trying to recover to set

:06:05. > :06:45.yourself up for the next ball. Marjolein Buis, not so long ago, she

:06:46. > :06:53.was partnering our Louise. I am enjoying it from a different angle

:06:54. > :06:59.today. It is a pleasure! When we talk about Marjolein she is really

:07:00. > :07:06.such a lovely person. We have a lot in common and the one thing she

:07:07. > :07:10.loves about Wimbledon are the free show tickets and we have got a

:07:11. > :07:13.lovely picture of her at School of Rock after the training session,

:07:14. > :07:19.which she loved. She is full of character.

:07:20. > :07:35.One of the things that she is so good at doing is being accurate. She

:07:36. > :07:45.is known for her accuracy, not just the power, not so much, but placing

:07:46. > :07:54.it where she once. -- where she wants. Tactically, what are they

:07:55. > :07:59.talking about, do you think? Do they need to change anything? What do you

:08:00. > :08:04.think? The last game there were more errors from the Dutch side, a couple

:08:05. > :08:10.of unusual double faults from Marjolein, so I think the last game

:08:11. > :08:14.is not too bad. Luck in their favour. They have that run when they

:08:15. > :08:18.were 3-1 up, so it is more about how did they get to that point and had

:08:19. > :08:21.to get back to that run of things. At the moment I don't think there is

:08:22. > :08:24.too much that they need to change and they are using more of the

:08:25. > :08:28.court, which I like. They are working in and around the baseline.

:08:29. > :08:31.There seemed to be more movement around the net from the Dutch

:08:32. > :08:44.parent. Is that what you would expect to see? Definitely. It used

:08:45. > :08:49.to be more about rallies, but now players are moving up to the net and

:08:50. > :08:51.it is nice to see. There are players on both sides who I expect to see

:08:52. > :09:18.because they can hit great volleys. De Groot was junior world champion

:09:19. > :09:24.at a very young age. She won and then again the year afterwards, and

:09:25. > :09:42.then she was winning senior titles. Beautiful use of the court from the

:09:43. > :09:52.Dutch players. An incredible get from Jordanne, but in that situation

:09:53. > :10:46.the De Groot forehand is ever dangerous.

:10:47. > :10:53.Alarm bells are ringing. Jordanne approached the ball so straight and

:10:54. > :11:44.that is not a comfortable thing to do. You need that angle.

:11:45. > :11:54.That famous Jordanne Whiley, that slice backhand, definitely her

:11:55. > :11:57.biggest weapon. She just knifes it through the air and it is so tough

:11:58. > :13:45.to return on any surface but on grass it is almost impossible.

:13:46. > :13:58.Sell of the points we are seeing at the moment! This final is beginning

:13:59. > :14:01.to bubble. The Dutch pair had their wheelchair facing in the opposite

:14:02. > :14:19.direction which just leaves that big gap down the middle.

:14:20. > :14:24.How hard they have worked to hold on. The break points that they had

:14:25. > :14:43.to deal with. All of a sudden, pressure on the

:14:44. > :14:51.shoulders of data De Groot. She is serving to stay in this second set.

:14:52. > :17:31.The defending champions pushing for deciding third.

:17:32. > :17:39.It was a shame that such a wonderful rally had to end in a fashion like

:17:40. > :17:43.that. It was a shame because Whiley and Kamiji did a fantastic job of

:17:44. > :17:47.keeping the Dutch pair back. They didn't even come inside the court.

:17:48. > :17:50.But then miss it at the end and it was a shame to end it like that. --

:17:51. > :18:08.and mis-hit at the end. The defending champions have got

:18:09. > :18:09.better and better as this final have gone on and they suddenly find

:18:10. > :18:29.themselves with a set point. Kamiji and Whiley are not letting

:18:30. > :18:33.this slip through their fingers easily. They have taken De Groot and

:18:34. > :19:02.Buis into a third and deciding set. How is it looking now? One apiece?

:19:03. > :19:05.Yes, Jordanne and Yui have tightened up their unforced errors and they

:19:06. > :19:09.are making the Dutch play and maybe the Dutch have crumbled and the

:19:10. > :19:13.pressure is getting to them. There is ebb and flow, between the speed

:19:14. > :19:17.and the attack of the ball. Some of it is very set back, almost going

:19:18. > :19:20.through the rallies, then all of a sudden they really turn it on. That

:19:21. > :19:25.is the style of the women's doubles right now. Very patient on the court

:19:26. > :19:29.until they get the right shot and then they go for it. I wonder as

:19:30. > :19:34.well if there is a bit of tension coming into the Dutch pair. Those

:19:35. > :19:42.double faults were very expensive. You are totally right. I think that

:19:43. > :19:46.is what they were seeing, and Kamiji and Jordanne are doing a slice fest

:19:47. > :19:50.now and that is working and those tactics will keep going in the third

:19:51. > :19:54.set. Quality from the British pair. Do you think in the third set they

:19:55. > :19:57.will have the momentum and the belief? I think they have got the

:19:58. > :20:05.momentum and the belief. It is whether they can keep up the same

:20:06. > :20:08.standard, bearing in mind that Jordanne's fitness is not quite

:20:09. > :20:13.there. The deeper we get into that said, the harder it will be for

:20:14. > :20:18.them. It will be about nerves. Those rallies are just going on and on.

:20:19. > :20:25.Unfortunately some of them have been finishing with a weak shot. But

:20:26. > :20:27.maybe they could go on even longer. At the end, Jordanne started to

:20:28. > :20:38.approach the net more, which is a good thing. The balls started to get

:20:39. > :20:41.weaker. You can sense that people are hearing about this match and

:20:42. > :20:45.they are coming here and not many empty seats left on court number

:20:46. > :20:49.three. Let's see how the deciding set will unfold with Louise and

:20:50. > :20:53.Nick. Gordon Reid and Alfie Hewett went to

:20:54. > :21:02.a third set yesterday and we although what happened then! -- we

:21:03. > :21:07.all know what happened then! Jordanne Whiley from the West

:21:08. > :21:08.Midlands now calling herself a Londoner, getting this third set

:21:09. > :22:29.under way. Isn't that brilliant? The ball

:22:30. > :22:31.controlled, the chair control. Another magical point. Another long

:22:32. > :22:38.rally. All the players on court working well. The Dutch player just

:22:39. > :22:55.found that gap. Beautiful shot down the middle.

:22:56. > :23:07.Kamiji is quick but there was no beating that Dutch manufactured

:23:08. > :23:10.angle. That was something else. A little bit of early concern on

:23:11. > :23:44.Jordanne's serve. Just getting squared up a little

:23:45. > :23:47.bit. Seems to be attacking the body. Jordanne is one of the quickest

:23:48. > :23:49.players on the tour, so as her opponent, you want to try and limit

:23:50. > :24:53.that. Saved one of the break points. Oh, it is out! And with Kamiji

:24:54. > :24:59.caught up in the tarpaulin, there was only one player left on court.

:25:00. > :25:09.What an effort this was. Incredible. To hit that much of a quality shot.

:25:10. > :25:47.She got back quick. One more break points to save.

:25:48. > :25:54.I'm not sure she needs encouragement from Jordanne Whiley but she gets it

:25:55. > :25:58.anyway! And how hard she pushes to chase this down. Kamiji is moving so

:25:59. > :26:02.well today. Some of these returns that she is getting come you think

:26:03. > :26:04.they are gone but she is there, even if it does mean ending up in the

:26:05. > :26:29.tarpaulin at the side! From 0- 42 deuce, but yet again a

:26:30. > :26:33.threat of a break of serve for Jordanne Whiley. -- from 0-40, to

:26:34. > :28:11.deuce. Now the longest game of the final so

:28:12. > :28:20.far. One point to conclude it for Jordanne Whiley. And she has! Or

:28:21. > :28:31.maybe? It looked good from this angle to me. UMPIRE: The ball was

:28:32. > :28:37.called in. The call stands. Game. By the way, if you are enjoying this,

:28:38. > :28:40.there is more on the BBC's red button and once we are done we will

:28:41. > :28:46.bring you the men's final between the Swedes, Stefan Olsson and

:28:47. > :28:50.Gustavo Fernandez. If you haven't seen Gustavo Fernandez this week,

:28:51. > :28:54.the new world number one, goodness me! Peter Norfolk described him a

:28:55. > :28:57.couple of days ago as Boris Becker in a wheelchair. He throws

:28:58. > :29:02.themselves around like a lunatic anti-bounces back up. He does. I

:29:03. > :29:08.have never seen anyone move a chair like him. He is incredible to watch

:29:09. > :29:24.and that final will be very exciting so definitely tune in for that.

:29:25. > :29:32.We continue to wonder with this business in hand as to who will be

:29:33. > :29:36.the women's doubles champions. It might be Kamiji and Whiley once

:29:37. > :29:49.again or De Groot and Buis. This is the third and deciding set.

:29:50. > :30:03.She has just gone off the boil a little bit with her serve.

:30:04. > :30:07.Diede is young and we have talked about her lack of experience. Maybe

:30:08. > :30:39.the occasion is getting to her a little bit.

:30:40. > :30:53.The Dutch coaches watching on, wondering. Pretty happy after a

:30:54. > :30:59.successful week so far. If you are just joining us, Diede de Groot, the

:31:00. > :31:07.Wimbledon singles champion yesterday, in her debut here at

:31:08. > :31:13.Wimbledon. Nicely judged. APPLAUSE

:31:14. > :31:26.And, controversially, Jordanne Whiley coming more and more into

:31:27. > :31:27.this contest. Yes, definitely. Nice to see that fist pump, you can see

:31:28. > :31:46.it in her eyes as well. -- and at the same time Jordanne

:31:47. > :31:52.Whiley coming more and more into this.

:31:53. > :31:55.APPLAUSE If there was any question that

:31:56. > :32:00.having been brought back together for the first time in a year at

:32:01. > :32:05.these championships, we have almost seen them today rediscovering their

:32:06. > :32:10.game together, and we are seeing it come to fruition here in this third

:32:11. > :32:13.set. I think so, and it is a pleasure to watch, isn't it?

:32:14. > :32:22.Watching them develop as we go through the match.

:32:23. > :32:28.LAUGHTER I suspect when Yui Kamiji closes her

:32:29. > :32:32.eyes at night the last thing she has on her head is the sound of Jordanne

:32:33. > :32:39.Whiley origin for more. That surprise me. This is Yui Kamiji, the

:32:40. > :33:56.current world number one. Kamiji was actually born with spine

:33:57. > :34:07.condition. She got otherwise I of the great Vergeer. -- she caught the

:34:08. > :34:41.wise eye of the great Vergeer. And the fan fills out.

:34:42. > :35:13.LAUGHTER Brilliantly played. It is

:35:14. > :35:18.interesting to see Whiley just being a bit busier in and around the net

:35:19. > :35:25.over the last few minutes. It is, like you say, nice to see them using

:35:26. > :35:43.the court on all sides, covering there is better as well.

:35:44. > :35:53.They may hold on. Another game closer and they are just three games

:35:54. > :36:11.and -- away an estimate. I'm sure lots of folks will be

:36:12. > :36:15.watching this at home, Louise, on their sofas and chairs, thinking

:36:16. > :36:19.they quite fancy this. To take up wheelchair tennis what other avenues

:36:20. > :36:24.you need to think about exploring? Well, it doesn't matter your

:36:25. > :36:26.disability, ability, whatever. We have visually impaired tennis,

:36:27. > :36:30.hearing tennis, and also the wheelchair tennis you're watching

:36:31. > :36:34.now. If you're interested in getting involved head straight to the Tennis

:36:35. > :36:38.Foundation website, and there you can find a local clubs you can go

:36:39. > :36:50.to. And there are hundreds of them. You don't have to work hard to

:36:51. > :36:53.find a club, because you will find one easily enough. Absolutely. Loads

:36:54. > :36:56.of opportunities all over the country. And don't worry if you

:36:57. > :36:59.don't have a tennis chair, because a lot of clubs have them. Go to the

:37:00. > :37:01.website and look at it, because the best thing about tennis is that

:37:02. > :37:04.anybody can play. Karen Ross. There has been topping the newspapers over

:37:05. > :37:10.the last couple of days about how funding has been cut by a couple of

:37:11. > :37:16.million pounds, leading into this tournament. Talk about whether the

:37:17. > :37:20.LTA might do a bit more to support, creating something of an issue, but

:37:21. > :37:26.does not take away from the growth of this sport over the last decade

:37:27. > :37:36.or solely by -- led by people like Peter Norfolk, who is here today.

:37:37. > :37:44.But never have so many people in this country played wheelchair

:37:45. > :37:48.tennis. There are more playing now than ever before. Exactly, and at

:37:49. > :37:50.every level, and that is the most exciting part to see. It shows how

:37:51. > :38:26.well our sport is growing. APPLAUSE

:38:27. > :38:32.It was a great setup and finish by Marjolein. Compared to the tennis

:38:33. > :38:36.was from her at the start of the match. Errors creeping in from Diede

:38:37. > :38:39.de Groot, and I don't know if it is the pressure getting to work, but

:38:40. > :39:35.not what we have seen from her in the tournament so far.

:39:36. > :39:47.APPLAUSE Well, this is starting to look very

:39:48. > :40:09.perilous for the Dutch. A double break down here...

:40:10. > :40:26.That's a very rare shot, Alfie Hewett and Peter, Peter not talking.

:40:27. > :40:33.LAUGHTER And another game. Another two games

:40:34. > :40:44.away and they are taking control of this final, Yui Kamiji and Jordanne

:40:45. > :40:57.Whiley. And, again, so many folk inside Court

:40:58. > :41:02.3, watching this sport for the first time perhaps, they might be

:41:03. > :41:10.thinking, hang on, this is good to watch. Jordanne Whiley, 4-0, third

:41:11. > :41:18.set. APPLAUSE

:41:19. > :41:26.The Dutch pair, just a lot more passive now, aren't they?

:41:27. > :42:07.Kind of loss that aggressive run they had.

:42:08. > :42:17.Brilliant. There was a shot in the middle of all that, as De Groot hit

:42:18. > :42:21.another powerful effort towards Kamiji for her peripheral vision was

:42:22. > :42:25.just extraordinary. You should've seen it, that second as it came over

:42:26. > :43:09.her shoulder. Absolutely. Great chair and racket skills.

:43:10. > :43:19.I mean, they had so much space, didn't they? On that point, both

:43:20. > :43:29.players inside the court, so Kamiji with a few options were to hit that

:43:30. > :43:41.ball. One game away. One game away from winning this thing for a fourth

:43:42. > :43:45.time. Well, Peter, you talk about Jordanne being out for a while,

:43:46. > :43:49.eight months, but it doesn't show, does it? No, the adrenaline flowing

:43:50. > :43:53.around both of their veins at the moment. Not what I predicted. I

:43:54. > :43:57.thought the Dutch girls would be all over them, but at the moment I think

:43:58. > :44:00.the nerves are showing on the Dutch girls, and Yui for me is just

:44:01. > :44:06.incredible at the back of the court, and that is what gives Jordanne this

:44:07. > :44:10.platform to play on, and she has just had a fabulous backhand down

:44:11. > :44:14.the line. They are well operate. It seemed for a moment that the Dutch

:44:15. > :44:19.were targeting Jordanne. Every shot was going her way for a long time.

:44:20. > :44:22.Yes, that would have been a great tactic, but actually it has

:44:23. > :44:26.backfired on them, because it has played Jordanne into it. She is just

:44:27. > :44:31.playing super at the moment and she will be feeling really good for

:44:32. > :44:40.this. You know, 5-0. They will go for it. Great serve. Thanks very

:44:41. > :44:47.much, Pete. Well, they have been absolutely brilliant in this third

:44:48. > :44:53.set. Reminding us all, particularly the two Dutch women, just why they

:44:54. > :45:02.have been so hard to beat here. But Diede de Groot, alongside Marjolein

:45:03. > :45:03.Buis, who looked so strong in that first set, serving to stay in the

:45:04. > :45:17.final. Not doing much with their returns

:45:18. > :46:05.there. A little bit passive, perhaps a bit of nerves setting in.

:46:06. > :46:14.She had that shot so well. She does, and it is her favourite, and

:46:15. > :46:19.definitely the biggest strength. All the women on the tour are aware of

:46:20. > :46:20.the Jordanne Whiley sliced backhand, and they certainly don't aim to hit

:46:21. > :47:44.the ball here. Oh, that point was a box set all of

:47:45. > :47:48.its own! And what a point to bring up championship point. An epic

:47:49. > :49:07.rally. Just out of reach.

:49:08. > :49:38.UMPIRE: Advantage, Ms De Groot. Deuce.

:49:39. > :49:52.APPLAUSE Oh, on the line.

:49:53. > :50:07.UMPIRE: Advantage, Ms Whiley. Once again, championship play. Once

:50:08. > :50:09.again, the Dutch refusing to go quietly. Yes, what a response on a

:50:10. > :50:37.championship point. Third opportunity to defend the

:50:38. > :51:29.title. It's on the line!

:51:30. > :51:31.APPLAUSE UMPIRE: Game, Ms Kamiji and Ms

:51:32. > :51:36.Whiley. They will never tire of hearing it,

:51:37. > :51:49.but once again Yui Kamiji and Jordanne Whiley are Wimbledon

:51:50. > :51:53.champions. 20-14, -- 20 14, 2015, 2016 and 17. There has been nobody

:51:54. > :51:58.quite like these two on these courts. After Hewett and Reid did it

:51:59. > :52:05.for Britain yesterday, Whiley and Kamiji do it for Britain and Japan

:52:06. > :52:14.today. Lucky Court number three for the Brits, eh? And there is

:52:15. > :52:18.Jordanne's mum, very proud. After the year she has had, with all the

:52:19. > :52:23.worries about the wrist injury, and there is her dad, Keith, who got her

:52:24. > :52:29.into this sport in the first place. That was a pretty decent decision,

:52:30. > :52:34.it is safe to assume, in hindsight. Definitely. Look, she has got

:52:35. > :52:35.herself a little bit stuck there, in all the excitement!

:52:36. > :52:42.LAUGHTER And she is free. There we go!

:52:43. > :52:51.LAUGHTER Her mum with a hug for Yui as well.

:52:52. > :52:55.And there it is, how well the Dutch two played, Marjolein Buis and Diede

:52:56. > :53:02.de Groot, particularly in that first set, but Kamiji and Whiley perhaps

:53:03. > :53:06.started to -- studied a ramp it up and perhaps De Groot as well, with

:53:07. > :53:14.all the emotion, from yesterday, catch up. Yes and wealth behind them

:53:15. > :53:17.as a player, congratulations to them, and commiserations to the

:53:18. > :53:27.Dutch as well. They must feel they have put in a great fight and some

:53:28. > :53:32.tennis. Ladies and gentlemen, the trophies will now be presented on

:53:33. > :53:37.Court to the winners and runners-up. Joining tournament referee Gerry

:53:38. > :53:47.Armstrong, please welcome Michael Ascues, a member of the of --

:53:48. > :54:00.committee of management for the Championships. And, firstly, --

:54:01. > :54:01.welcome Michael. Runners-up for the Netherlands, Marjolein Buis and

:54:02. > :54:21.Diede de Groot. APPLAUSE

:54:22. > :54:28.And now the 2017 Wimbledon champions, from Japan, Yui Kamiji,

:54:29. > :55:09.and from Britain, Jordanne Whiley! APPLAUSE

:55:10. > :55:15.We have a massive crowd now who I know well now want to hear from our

:55:16. > :55:18.champions. They have done it again, a fourth consecutive title.

:55:19. > :55:22.Jordanne, you ought to give everybody a little bit of an idea of

:55:23. > :55:27.how hard-fought this was for you in terms of injury, the match as well?

:55:28. > :55:31.Yes, this is by far the most special to me because I have been out for

:55:32. > :55:39.eight months, struggling with injury. Have not played with Yui for

:55:40. > :55:42.a year now, and I really did try my hardest and Diede and Marjolein are

:55:43. > :55:46.such a strong team. I am so happy. APPLAUSE

:55:47. > :55:51.We can see how thrilled you are, and, Yui, how do you feel right now,

:55:52. > :56:00.and how special this moment? Sorry... I'd like to thank Jordanne

:56:01. > :56:05.for playing with me again, and congratulations to Marjolein and

:56:06. > :56:13.Diede, and thank you to all the audience cheering for us. Yes...

:56:14. > :56:19.APPLAUSE They did, they were cheering for

:56:20. > :56:25.you. And I think all of us will remember the shouts of "Yui, Yui!"

:56:26. > :56:28.Throughout that. You are a terrific partnership. What you think is the

:56:29. > :56:33.secret of being able to get back on court not having played this year

:56:34. > :56:37.and still being able to do this? That is easy. She is my best friend.

:56:38. > :56:40.I would try my hardest for Yui and I know she would do the same, and that

:56:41. > :56:44.is what makes such a special doubles partnership.

:56:45. > :56:51.APPLAUSE You make it as well very special to

:56:52. > :56:55.watch. Last word, Jordanne, on behalf of both of you, who would you

:56:56. > :56:59.like to thank here? Firstly I would like to thank all of the crowd. You

:57:00. > :57:05.don't know how much it picks us up on the court. It means a lot you to

:57:06. > :57:09.be here. Thank you. Thank you to my family who came out, the coaches out

:57:10. > :57:17.there, my boyfriend and my coach out there, so thank you to everybody the

:57:18. > :57:18.stadium. Many congratulations to Yui Kamiji and Jordanne Whiley!

:57:19. > :57:34.APPLAUSE Well, that final shot down the

:57:35. > :57:38.middle, they have secured their fourth victory here at Wimbledon.

:57:39. > :57:44.They must be too belated now. It is amazing and I am so happy. They have

:57:45. > :57:49.just moved wheelchair tennis to another plateau. The same as Alfie

:57:50. > :57:52.Hewitt and Gordon Reid yesterday. Yet more mystery has been made and

:57:53. > :57:59.it is thrilling to be courtside here to watch it. Garden, excuse me,

:58:00. > :58:02.Alfie! The crowds at the end there, a standing ovation, Sim sendoff as

:58:03. > :58:10.you. Thoroughly deserved, don't you think? Yes, looking at the swirling,

:58:11. > :58:15.6-0, it shows how dominant the pair were that final set. They work for

:58:16. > :58:20.every single ball -- look at the score alone. The Dutch just cracked.

:58:21. > :58:22.The standard of play overall, Pete, was phenomenal? I am amazed. I did

:58:23. > :58:31.not to come in and do that. You saw the

:58:32. > :58:36.first set, 6-2, then you think, wow, they played into Jordanne and she

:58:37. > :58:39.just got better and better. When you have the defensive qualities of Yui

:58:40. > :58:46.there, you know, it is just great. What a platform for them. I just

:58:47. > :58:50.think everybody watching and everybody on court three, really

:58:51. > :58:52.touched by how Jordanne summed up their partnership, that the best

:58:53. > :58:58.friends and understand each other. You have to pay tribute to De Groot

:58:59. > :59:02.and Buis, what a fabulous match they made it. And, Alfie, they played

:59:03. > :59:08.very well to this tournament, played well all year. They were hot

:59:09. > :59:11.favourites coming into this? Yes, Marjolein and Diede, the portly well

:59:12. > :59:15.together, great partnership, had some great results, and that first

:59:16. > :59:20.set showed what they could do, 6-2, a strong set for them. Whether the

:59:21. > :59:24.pressure got to them or not, we will never know, but they fought for

:59:25. > :59:29.every ball until the end and Griffioen and Yui did the same,

:59:30. > :59:34.really good match to watch. Jordanne said of all of her victories this

:59:35. > :59:37.one means the most. Yes, I think her fourth title now at Wimbledon. It is

:59:38. > :59:41.an amazing achievement for both of them and I would like to

:59:42. > :59:45.congratulate them as well. How much longer can you see this partnership

:59:46. > :59:50.staying, Peter? Why would you split it up, let's face it? It is great.

:59:51. > :59:56.They have a fabulous understanding with each other. Long may it

:59:57. > :00:04.continue. The US Open next, so they have done a Grand Slam, the full

:00:05. > :00:08.Slam, so why not? They are really making history now, not just for

:00:09. > :00:15.wheelchair tennis, but tennis all over. But for me the nicest thing is

:00:16. > :00:19.Jordanne is British. Previously with the women it has all been Dutch, so
