0:00:36 > 0:00:41Hello and welcome to day ten of the Winter Olympic Games. They to in the

0:00:41 > 0:00:45programme we will see the final event of the ski jumping

0:00:45 > 0:00:50competition, the men's team event but, first, the short programme of

0:00:50 > 0:00:54the ice dance and there is British interest with Penny Coomes and Nick

0:00:54 > 0:00:58Buckland. After an accident in training 20 months ago, Penny was

0:00:58 > 0:01:04told she might not walk again, let alone and scared. David McDaid went

0:01:04 > 0:01:10to see them in their training base in Detroit's.So hard to train for

0:01:10 > 0:01:14an Olympics when you're healthy. And to push your body to the

0:01:14 > 0:01:20absolute limit every day.

0:01:21 > 0:01:25absolute limit every day. There is only so much nobody can deal with.

0:01:25 > 0:01:32-- your body can deal with. A second, my life changed.Figure

0:01:32 > 0:01:36skater Penny Coomes has suffered a knee injury in training which could

0:01:36 > 0:01:45enter hopes of competing at the Winter Olympics.Like that, I am on

0:01:45 > 0:01:50the floor with half of my kneecap up here and half of it down there. I

0:01:50 > 0:01:56remember crying, not from the pain, but from what could be. And, yeah, I

0:01:56 > 0:02:01have had the hardest 1.5 of my life and at the same time it is the

0:02:01 > 0:02:07strongest I have had to be and it has been a very rewarding time. That

0:02:07 > 0:02:14is a Korea ending injury for 99.9% of people. Definitely. We just did

0:02:14 > 0:02:20not know what the way forward was. Once it had happened, we put

0:02:20 > 0:02:23everything into perspective. It is only ice-skating but it is something

0:02:23 > 0:02:27we have grown up with an something we adore so there was only one thing

0:02:27 > 0:02:32we were going to do and that was going to be we were going to come

0:02:32 > 0:02:40back and pick up where we left off. So many people were saying, that's

0:02:40 > 0:02:44it, you're done, you can't come back from this. I remember reading those

0:02:44 > 0:02:49things and being so mad and I channelled that energy. I remember

0:02:49 > 0:02:52using that energy and being out there and saying, this is for all

0:02:52 > 0:02:59the people all who thought I couldn't do this... Because I can.

0:02:59 > 0:03:07# I've been thinking about tomorrow # Instead of drowning in the past...

0:03:07 > 0:03:10But every day was a good day and I didn't do it on my own. When I was

0:03:10 > 0:03:17down, I had my physio, my psychologist and then of course

0:03:17 > 0:03:21Nick. For me, I said to him at one point, I don't know if I can do

0:03:21 > 0:03:24this, I don't know if my knee is ever going to be strong enough

0:03:24 > 0:03:31again. And he just said, that's OK. And I think I needed to hear that in

0:03:31 > 0:03:38order to get better. We are here in Michigan, where you are based. Why

0:03:38 > 0:03:43here?It is an ice dance hub. There are three big ice dance hubs and our

0:03:43 > 0:03:49coach has one of the rest routines in the world. We come here and we

0:03:49 > 0:03:53train with a lot of our rivals, I guess, which is really interesting

0:03:53 > 0:03:58but we all get on very well so it is very cool. What does Pyeongchang

0:03:58 > 0:04:00represent for you?

0:04:06 > 0:04:14I'm sorry. It's just so emotional because... This has always been my

0:04:14 > 0:04:21goal. When we first set out, it was, like, let us do three Olympic Games

0:04:21 > 0:04:25and Pyeongchang was always... Let's be the best here. And to kind of

0:04:25 > 0:04:34have that... Taken away, I feel like I have earned it. Tenfold, before I

0:04:34 > 0:04:38even got there.Going out there all we have been through, it is going to

0:04:38 > 0:04:44be a fitting end to this period of our lives. The best bit is yet to

0:04:44 > 0:04:50come.Let's find out how they got on with Kat Downes and Robin Cousins.

0:04:50 > 0:04:57COMMENTATOR: Here they are, the comeback kids. 20 months ago, Penny

0:04:57 > 0:05:00shattered her kneecap into eight pieces. She was reconstructed,

0:05:00 > 0:05:08rehabilitated. A battle to defy the odds to qualify for these Games for

0:05:08 > 0:05:14the third time.

0:08:04 > 0:08:09She was told she'd never skate again. But Penny Coomes and Nick

0:08:09 > 0:08:13Buckland are back on Olympic ice. Here they are, and what will it mean

0:08:13 > 0:08:21for them to be back?Amazing. Their first event of the season was the

0:08:21 > 0:08:26qualifying event in Germany. They qualified, they won that event, they

0:08:26 > 0:08:30got Team GB the spot. And that was the last possible chance to qualify

0:08:30 > 0:08:34for the Games, wasn't it? They needed to come back and win it and

0:08:34 > 0:08:44they did. They've done everything asked of them. A season 's best of

0:08:44 > 0:08:5071.79, but we have seen the scores from the judges, a couple down from

0:08:50 > 0:08:54what you'd expect, and Penny and Nick leap to the top of the

0:08:54 > 0:08:58leaderboard with that performance. They have the qualification mark

0:08:58 > 0:09:08against their name, and they are through to tomorrow's free skating.

0:09:16 > 0:09:20So, Maia Shibutani and Alex Shibutani, they have team bronze in

0:09:20 > 0:09:25the bag already. We are joined by Nick Buckland in the commentary box.

0:09:25 > 0:09:31These two... They are marmite, aren't they, when it comes to ice

0:09:31 > 0:09:36dance. You either love the fact they are brother and sister and that

0:09:36 > 0:09:42dynamic or you find it uncomfortable to watch. What do you think? It is a

0:09:42 > 0:09:49difficult one, they've had to deal with it all their Korealife, but

0:09:49 > 0:09:55they have had a very good season, and they are very clean these guys,

0:09:55 > 0:09:58they are like machines.

0:10:23 > 0:10:33A little bit of stumble. We will see whether that plays a part in their

0:10:33 > 0:10:37step sequence. They won bronze at the last world championships. Do you

0:10:37 > 0:10:43think they will be pushing for a podium place here?I think so, there

0:10:43 > 0:10:47are three strong American team so there is a sort of a mini

0:10:47 > 0:10:51competition within the Games itself, within those teams, so they are

0:10:51 > 0:10:58battling it out between themselves as well.

0:10:59 > 0:11:02These two are very clean and everything goes very well to the

0:11:02 > 0:11:05music will stop as we see here right now.

0:11:26 > 0:11:34Just struggling with speed here. The last part of the programme looks

0:11:34 > 0:11:37slow to me but super, super clean.

0:11:58 > 0:12:03A lot of tempo changes within this music as well, going up and down,

0:12:03 > 0:12:08depending on what tempo they need for the specific element they are

0:12:08 > 0:12:15doing, which is interesting.

0:12:18 > 0:12:25All the precision you would expect from Shibutanis. They were neat as

0:12:25 > 0:12:31pins, weren't they?I think that was a very strong performance. They did

0:12:31 > 0:12:37what they needed to do and they have a midline step sequence which is a

0:12:37 > 0:12:42lovely format, which is a very high-scoring aliment, and you can't

0:12:42 > 0:12:53really expect much better from them. So, our new leaders, Maia Shibutani

0:12:53 > 0:12:57and Alex Shibutani. They have laid down the marker for their

0:12:57 > 0:13:02countrymen. So, it is time to say thank you so much to Nick and thank

0:13:02 > 0:13:09you for joining us and best of luck tomorrow. For the first time, we

0:13:09 > 0:13:13will see the best couples from the last dance skate back to back. It

0:13:13 > 0:13:18has been cat and mouse for the top spot for these couples in the last

0:13:18 > 0:13:21couple of seasons and time now to find out who will come out on top

0:13:21 > 0:13:28when it comes to the Olympics. In the short dance.Over the next two

0:13:28 > 0:13:33days, we will find out to comes out on top because it'll be a battle

0:13:33 > 0:13:37between these two, Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir and the French couple,

0:13:37 > 0:13:40who will skate immediately after them, Gabriella Papadakis and

0:13:40 > 0:13:48Guillaume Cizeron. Training partners, rivals... All the King for

0:13:48 > 0:13:59the Olympic gold. -- all looking for the Olympic gold.

0:14:12 > 0:14:21MUSIC: Sympathy for the Devil.

0:14:22 > 0:14:25Beaufort control and it worked through the middle of that sequence.

0:14:25 > 0:14:29-- perfect control.

0:14:42 > 0:14:47Into the rhumba.

0:16:16 > 0:16:26Through the twizzles. The occasional lift to finish.

0:16:26 > 0:16:33CHEERING And overall champions took that

0:16:33 > 0:16:37Ludik title, it was only silver in Sochi, they took a couple of years

0:16:37 > 0:16:42away from competition, but they were still training, still working and

0:16:42 > 0:16:49came back last year to win the World Championship.Quite a stark contrast

0:16:49 > 0:16:58between the Canadians and the French team, but they

0:17:00 > 0:17:04team, but they absolutely zhouz'd the style. It has to be clean to put

0:17:04 > 0:17:14work, but the timings throughout the twizzles...A season's best in the

0:17:14 > 0:17:22short dance at the Olympic Games. They are after that Gold Medal.

0:17:23 > 0:17:27Record breaking. They have put themselves in the best possible

0:17:27 > 0:17:31position to claim that Olympic title, to go with the gold that they

0:17:31 > 0:17:41in 2010. Beat that, they say. And when it comes that I stands, you are

0:17:41 > 0:17:45either team Virtue and Moir, or team Papadakis and Cizeron. It is time to

0:17:45 > 0:17:50decide which of those you prefer, because he Roddik four time European

0:17:50 > 0:17:56champions who missed out on a place in Sochi last time out, so this is

0:17:56 > 0:18:02their first Olympics. Can they come away with a medal?

0:19:03 > 0:19:05MUSIC: Shape of You by Ed Sheeran.

0:20:06 > 0:20:09MUSIC: Thinking Out Loud by Ed Sheeran.

0:20:46 > 0:20:52CHEERING Some costly mistakes creeping in.

0:20:52 > 0:20:58They will have lost ground on their training may send rivals, Tessa

0:20:58 > 0:21:05Virtue and Scott Moir. They have still been given a level four on the

0:21:05 > 0:21:12twizzles, but the pattern, just sequence level three. Slightly up on

0:21:12 > 0:21:22the step into the second twizzle, so he got ahead of Gabriela.Yes,

0:21:22 > 0:21:29second place for Gabriella Papadakis and Guillaume Cizeron. So, the

0:21:29 > 0:21:37French pair going second, into the free dance tomorrow and we have

0:21:37 > 0:21:42three other couples to skate after them. Madison Hubbell and Zachary

0:21:42 > 0:21:46Donahue beat the Shibutanis siblings to the national champion chips this

0:21:46 > 0:21:53year, skating at their first Olympics. Coming out on top again

0:21:53 > 0:21:58when it comes to that Team USA rival. They became national

0:21:58 > 0:22:08champions overall after coming second in the free dance.

0:22:50 > 0:22:58The leg lines close to matching the middle, one of the key points from

0:22:58 > 0:23:05the leg and the point of view.

0:24:44 > 0:24:51CHEERING

0:24:51 > 0:24:57Some mistakes then, from Madison and Zachary, as well. They made the

0:24:57 > 0:25:02correct turns

0:25:02 > 0:25:04correct turns within the rhumba sequence but one straight leg and

0:25:04 > 0:25:07one bent leg within the middle of the key point was a bit odd for me

0:25:07 > 0:25:18to see.It is a new season's best for Madison Hubbell and Zachary

0:25:19 > 0:25:22Donahue, 77.75 and they are up to third place in the short dance

0:25:22 > 0:25:28programme. This is the final couple to state -- to skate today, Anna

0:25:28 > 0:25:32Cappellini and Luca Lanotte, of Italy, 2014 will champions, six

0:25:32 > 0:25:38times Italian national champions and they just missed out on a European

0:25:38 > 0:25:43medal at the recent championships, coming forth.

0:25:54 > 0:26:05It's her birthday today.

0:26:13 > 0:26:16Another couple for whom the Latin flavour isn't necessarily very

0:26:16 > 0:26:21natural.

0:28:51 > 0:28:55CHEERING It was clean and strong, the

0:28:55 > 0:28:59birthday performance that Anna Cappellini wanted.Absolutely. Will

0:28:59 > 0:29:03she get the birthday present that she wants from the panel of judges?

0:29:03 > 0:29:13Looking at the scoreboards, I am seeing level falls -- fours, level

0:29:13 > 0:29:21three for the pattern dance sequence, the rhumba they got the

0:29:21 > 0:29:29four, and the degree of execution scores from the judges are good.

0:29:30 > 0:29:37So, Italy could be in the mix.Italy will be in the mix. A couple of low

0:29:37 > 0:29:46nines for their component scores. Interpretation and timing are the

0:29:46 > 0:29:55highest.It is a new season's best for Anna Cappellini and Luca

0:29:55 > 0:30:06Lanotte. It is the birthday present Anna was hoping for, putting them up

0:30:06 > 0:30:13into fifth in this short programme qualification. Great, great skate

0:30:13 > 0:30:20for the Italians to wrap up today's action. So, we are all set for an

0:30:20 > 0:30:24exciting competition tomorrow. Confirmation of the qualification

0:30:24 > 0:30:33standings. Madison Hubbell and captain Mike in the bronze position.

0:30:33 > 0:30:40Gabriella Papadakis on a Guillaume Cizeron just a couple of points

0:30:40 > 0:30:43behind Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir, who are chasing down a second

0:30:43 > 0:30:48Olympic title. And looking to come away from these Games with two more

0:30:48 > 0:30:48Olympic title. And looking to come away from these Games with two more

0:30:48 > 0:30:54gold medals. Your first taste of the Olympic ice,

0:30:54 > 0:30:58talk us through your feelings first of all.You know, it was a tough

0:30:58 > 0:31:06one, considering the issues that we had. But it was still a great

0:31:06 > 0:31:12experience. We still managed to keep our focus. And enjoy the moment. It

0:31:12 > 0:31:20could have been better, for sure, but... What is done is done and we

0:31:20 > 0:31:26will look forward now.It is tight right now between yourselves and

0:31:26 > 0:31:28Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir, it is quite a rivalry you've developed,

0:31:28 > 0:31:34isn't it?It is two years since they came back. It was the thing going on

0:31:34 > 0:31:40and we train together. So it is something we take into consideration

0:31:40 > 0:31:45but we came here and we want to do our best, and that is what we are

0:31:45 > 0:31:52going to focus on.Tessa Virtue Scott Moir, what a time to put that

0:31:52 > 0:31:55performance down! We knew we needed it, to be honest.

0:31:55 > 0:32:00It is and extremely comfortable skating first after the warm up. We

0:32:00 > 0:32:07had to be strong. We were ready for that and we are happy the way we

0:32:07 > 0:32:11executed but there is a tonne of work to be done tomorrow so we have

0:32:11 > 0:32:17to make sure we come out and are ready to go.How important is every

0:32:17 > 0:32:20single point given, that the French couple are so strong as well? The

0:32:20 > 0:32:24field is so deep and we knew we'd have to do a lot of work to get back

0:32:24 > 0:32:29into the mix and so we are pleased with our performance today and look

0:32:29 > 0:32:33forward to executing our free dance tomorrow. We believe in our plan

0:32:33 > 0:32:36that our coaches set out at the start of the season and so far we

0:32:36 > 0:32:43are on track. How happy are you with how it went it?Very happy. It is

0:32:43 > 0:32:46something we had been striving for for a long time so to get out there

0:32:46 > 0:32:52and put out a good performance, we have one more, but this performance

0:32:52 > 0:32:55was really great.Penny, everyone knows your journey with your knee.

0:32:55 > 0:33:02What was it back to be -- what was it like being back on the big stage?

0:33:02 > 0:33:06I had competition pressure but I feel excited to get back out there

0:33:06 > 0:33:12again and I am so happy to be here. I was skating around when they were

0:33:12 > 0:33:16reading out the schools and I smiled to myself because after everything

0:33:16 > 0:33:20I've been through, I may it and that is the most important thing. What

0:33:20 > 0:33:24can we expect from the free dance? You enjoy yourself out there and

0:33:24 > 0:33:28you've put in a lot of work, what are we going to see?Our free dance

0:33:28 > 0:33:33is set to

0:33:33 > 0:33:37is set to music by Muse, it is atmospheric, we love that piece of

0:33:37 > 0:33:42music and we've come back to its because we wanted to perform it for

0:33:42 > 0:33:46a last time at the Olympic Games. There are some cool elements in

0:33:46 > 0:33:50there and I cannot wait to perform at.We can't wait to see you perform

0:33:50 > 0:33:55it. Well done today and we can't wait to see you tomorrow.A new

0:33:55 > 0:34:00world record short dance from Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir, they are

0:34:00 > 0:34:04going after that Olympic title, aren't they?They were supreme in

0:34:04 > 0:34:09the team event and I thought this was better today. We saw that with

0:34:09 > 0:34:13the score, they came out confident, signal and they are the ones to beat

0:34:13 > 0:34:18now.This ice dance competition was built as a head-to-head between them

0:34:18 > 0:34:20and their training mate Gabriella Papadakis and Guillaume Cizeron, but

0:34:20 > 0:34:27there is a bit of reading room for the Canadians because a few mistakes

0:34:27 > 0:34:29creeping in for the French.A pew minor mistakes but those minor

0:34:29 > 0:34:36mistakes will be the difference between gold and forth. The French

0:34:36 > 0:34:41didn't have the skate they wanted today. A few issues with the skate

0:34:41 > 0:34:44and costumes, but don't count them out because the free dance is

0:34:44 > 0:34:51fantastic and they will come out tomorrow gunning for the gold. They

0:34:51 > 0:34:56have less experience, though. This is their first Olympics. Tessa

0:34:56 > 0:35:01Virtue and Scott Moir won a title in 2010 so they know what it is like to

0:35:01 > 0:35:05clinch the gold. They've been through two Olympics. Gold

0:35:05 > 0:35:09medallists in Frank over 2010, silver medallists in Sochi and they

0:35:09 > 0:35:16are coming back here. They've been away from competition but learning

0:35:16 > 0:35:21their craft, learning how to perform, not worrying about how to

0:35:21 > 0:35:25hit a level for this and a step for that. They are bringing their

0:35:25 > 0:35:31performance back with incredible technique. The French have two world

0:35:31 > 0:35:34titles under their belts. They know how to compete and they know how

0:35:34 > 0:35:39they want to perform. People say it is chalk and cheese, who do you

0:35:39 > 0:35:44prefer. The Canadians perform for the audience. They say they want to

0:35:44 > 0:35:47have that feeling between the man and woman skating. The French say we

0:35:47 > 0:35:54don't go in for that. We want to be an entity and create beauty and have

0:35:54 > 0:35:58our performances speak for themselves. It is a lot more

0:35:58 > 0:36:01contemporary and extraneous, in some aspects. It is ready going to come

0:36:01 > 0:36:07down to what do those judges think? And what the technical scores are.

0:36:07 > 0:36:12Only perfection will do, I'm sure because the margins are so narrow.

0:36:12 > 0:36:18Nick and Penny qualifying in the top ten. Well done, Robin! You survived

0:36:18 > 0:36:24their comeback. You have been so personally involved.Until she

0:36:24 > 0:36:28stepped on that ice today, all the preparation, do whatever you want,

0:36:28 > 0:36:33there was a bit of nervous tension, to be expected, and it wasn't the

0:36:33 > 0:36:37performance they wanted to give but they got credit where they needed

0:36:37 > 0:36:41it, they delivered that fantastic performance, and they are so happy

0:36:41 > 0:36:45that I think the pressure will be off them slightly for that free

0:36:45 > 0:36:49dance and they've got, in the draw, for the top two groups so they are

0:36:49 > 0:36:53where they wanted to be.They are pleased with their performance. We

0:36:53 > 0:36:58were chuffed to see them on the ice, Penny and Nick looking to push up

0:36:58 > 0:37:04the leaderboard. Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir, the world champions, the

0:37:04 > 0:37:07ones to read. The ski jumping has provided real

0:37:07 > 0:37:12drama so far and tonight it is the final event. The men's team large

0:37:12 > 0:37:16hill. Norway are the favourites here but this is their last chance to

0:37:16 > 0:37:21take home a gold medal. Germany are the defending champions and have

0:37:21 > 0:37:25Andreas Wellinger on their team. He has won a gold already and silver at

0:37:25 > 0:37:28these Games. Ollie Williams is your commentator.

0:37:28 > 0:37:33COMMENTATOR: This is the start list for the eight teams that have made

0:37:33 > 0:37:34it through.

0:37:38 > 0:37:43We said goodbye to four teams and we go in reverse order of scores in the

0:37:43 > 0:37:50first round so Finland go first and Norway, in the lead, go last, and

0:37:50 > 0:37:58all of those scores still count. Oscar, it looks like to me they are

0:37:58 > 0:38:05too far back,

0:38:05 > 0:38:07too far back, Stefan Kraft, a great first-round jump, he needs a miracle

0:38:07 > 0:38:14second-round jump. And that is not it is. I think that is thank you and

0:38:14 > 0:38:22good night Austria. That is disappointing for Stefan Kraft. He

0:38:22 > 0:38:28had 133.5 in first round. It is in the distance, it is the combination

0:38:28 > 0:38:32of distance, style and wind, but if your distance is lacking, frankly,

0:38:32 > 0:38:36it doesn't matter how good your style is, you won't be up at the

0:38:36 > 0:38:46top. Sinking of the head from his Austrian team-mates. Because they

0:38:46 > 0:38:54know with 116 points seven, and that total of 610, that is already surely

0:38:54 > 0:39:00too much for Austria to come back from. Poland, though, they have a

0:39:00 > 0:39:04shot at any colour medal right now, great first-round for them, only

0:39:04 > 0:39:07five points off the lead, here goes Maciej Kot.

0:39:12 > 0:39:19The world champions in the team sport, good jump. Maybe a little

0:39:19 > 0:39:26short, a little bit of concern on the coach's phase. He isn't the

0:39:26 > 0:39:30standout Polish jumper, he is essentially your squad player, you

0:39:30 > 0:39:38are looking for something solid enough out of him. Boom into the

0:39:38 > 0:39:42ground, slamming in with the left ski, held in nicely. Polish team

0:39:42 > 0:39:52wearing the Number Ten bids. That keeps us in the hunt. 18.5s from the

0:39:52 > 0:39:57judges.

0:39:58 > 0:40:02judges. Lock the team total in your head and see what that compares to

0:40:02 > 0:40:10from what it Karl Geiger can do for Germany. Breathe in, breathe out,

0:40:10 > 0:40:20throw yourself down the 110 metre jump and launch.

0:40:20 > 0:40:28It's good, is it good enough? German fans giving him a huge amount of

0:40:28 > 0:40:36support. Hundred 34 metres. He is happy but he isn't overjoyed. I

0:40:36 > 0:40:45think Karl Geiger wanted that to be a couple more metres. It is coming

0:40:45 > 0:40:54down to a metre or two, this final, I am sure of it. That keeps Germany

0:40:54 > 0:41:00in the hunt but look at his face! Oh, I wanted more. I wanted a few

0:41:00 > 0:41:09metres more. 134 metres, two metres less than his last jump.

0:41:09 > 0:41:13less than his last jump. That means that Germany for now are ahead up do

0:41:13 > 0:41:21is make of Poland. And here comes Daniel Andre Tande for Norway. They

0:41:21 > 0:41:27led Germany by two points after round one. That is a big jump!

0:41:27 > 0:41:34Exactly how Norway wanted to start! He lifts a finger into the air and

0:41:34 > 0:41:42says, yeah! Oh, the relief, that is his last jump of the Olympics. It

0:41:42 > 0:41:46means that much more when you're doing it in a team competition

0:41:46 > 0:41:49because, well estate, and you are letting down three other people and

0:41:49 > 0:41:57a country. Oh, what a beautiful jump from Daniel Andre Tande! Like

0:41:57 > 0:42:01surfing at the end, he says. Take a look at that.

0:42:09 > 0:42:14These celebration, like it is a gold medal, because it could well be.

0:42:14 > 0:42:21Germany gave him a 20, discarded as the high school, still Minety in .5s

0:42:21 > 0:42:26and Norway go into a healthy 16 point lead thanks to Daniel Andre

0:42:26 > 0:42:31Tande. Here are the standings. Poland about eight points further

0:42:31 > 0:42:38back from Germany in third. One mistake, though, will change all of

0:42:38 > 0:42:46this in an instant. It is gripping stuff. Three jumps each to go.

0:42:47 > 0:42:49Starting for Manuel Fettner. It feels like a battle between Austria

0:42:49 > 0:42:58and Slovenia the fourth. -- for fourth.

0:42:59 > 0:43:03fourth. It is an OK jump. Pretty much what we just saw from Slovenia,

0:43:03 > 0:43:07maybe a couple of metres further from Manuel Fettner.

0:43:12 > 0:43:18See where this leaves Austria. They will be so sad at home in the Alps

0:43:18 > 0:43:23right now that their team is only battling for fourth place at the

0:43:23 > 0:43:28Olympics. That isn't what Austria feels it should be about. They were

0:43:28 > 0:43:32silver medallists behind Germany in Sochi. They are ahead of Slovenia

0:43:32 > 0:43:40for now, but only by three points. Silver in Sochi, bronze at the world

0:43:40 > 0:43:44Championships last year but they haven't been able to compete at

0:43:44 > 0:43:48quite the high standard this time around. Poland on the other hand of

0:43:48 > 0:43:51the world champions and are carrying that form into this. Here's Stefan

0:43:51 > 0:43:53Hula.

0:44:02 > 0:44:10Solid jump from Stefan Hula! Well over the 125 metre K-point. He

0:44:10 > 0:44:18reacts immediately. That keeps Poland in contention. You heard

0:44:18 > 0:44:25almost a springboard sound of him leaping into the air like a white

0:44:25 > 0:44:31jet engine, soaring down the hill. Look how quickly he lands this and,

0:44:31 > 0:44:36then, immediately he knows it is good. You could see that green line.

0:44:36 > 0:44:47He knows what he is trying to eat. -- to eat.

0:44:57 > 0:45:08In the first round, Stephan Leyhe had 121 points. Here is round two.

0:45:08 > 0:45:15Now...

0:45:15 > 0:45:20Now... 121 metres, was that a little short of what he thinks he needs?

0:45:20 > 0:45:26When I say that mistakes could change everything,

0:45:26 > 0:45:30change everything, I'm not talking about the kind of mistake that means

0:45:30 > 0:45:34you fall, but if you lose three or four meters, that could be enough,

0:45:34 > 0:45:38five points in it between three teams at the start of this round, it

0:45:38 > 0:45:42is just nothing. There is Richard Freitag of the German team. I don't

0:45:42 > 0:45:50know. He doesn't know. And Poland go ahead of Germany with two jumps to

0:45:50 > 0:46:01go! Wow. The last of this group is Andrea Stern in Fort Norway, he

0:46:01 > 0:46:08needs to keep his composure and keep them ahead. Will you do it?

0:46:09 > 0:46:14them ahead. Will you do it? -- Andreas Stjernen.Big jump, good

0:46:14 > 0:46:20jump. That looks like it'll be enough for Andreas Stjernen. Mr Rea

0:46:20 > 0:46:25liability. Hasn't been anywhere near the medals, unlike most Norwegian

0:46:25 > 0:46:29team members here. They've had such a good Olympics on the ski jump, but

0:46:29 > 0:46:40top 15s in both events. It is consistency across your four team

0:46:40 > 0:46:45members, because you cannot get rid of any scores, you cannot just count

0:46:45 > 0:46:49three, you need or four and that is where someone like Andreas Stjernen

0:46:49 > 0:46:56comes in and that's why he gets that kind of reaction. They will be

0:46:56 > 0:47:04buzzing in no way right now. Here is the score, still in first. It is a

0:47:04 > 0:47:1230 point gap with two to go. That leaves it all to do. Poland and

0:47:12 > 0:47:17Germany are slipping. If Norway can stay just about faultless with these

0:47:17 > 0:47:22last two jumps they will have their first ever team gold medal. Austria

0:47:22 > 0:47:29just ahead of Slovenia for fourth, Japan out on their own in six.

0:47:29 > 0:47:38Gregor Schlierenzauer now.

0:47:39 > 0:47:40Gregor Schlierenzauer now.Slovenia on 8:36.7 and Austria now in this

0:47:40 > 0:47:51little mini battle for fourth place. Into the air, two bronze medals at

0:47:51 > 0:47:55Vancouver 2010, great pedigree, Arfon, not so good right now. And

0:47:55 > 0:48:02again, I think he wanted more from that jump.

0:48:02 > 0:48:13that jump. Just about the same distance, and there is his

0:48:13 > 0:48:20reference. Will this be above or below 111 points? It will be almost

0:48:20 > 0:48:24bang on, 111.3. That will be enough to keep Austria about three points

0:48:24 > 0:48:33ahead of Slovenia. Into the medal contenders, and Dawid Kubacki, I

0:48:33 > 0:48:37mentioned that he had been on and off. As a superb first round jump.

0:48:37 > 0:48:44He needs now consistency more than ever.

0:48:44 > 0:48:53ever. It is OK. It's not quite as far as his monster 138.5 first round

0:48:53 > 0:48:59jump but it is close enough to keep Poland in the hunt, maybe, for a

0:48:59 > 0:49:05silver against Germany. Could they even get past Norway for the gold?

0:49:05 > 0:49:14We will need to see mistakes from Norway for to happen. Dawid Kubacki,

0:49:15 > 0:49:21through the air, hold it, at the last moment, change those legs,

0:49:21 > 0:49:26absorb the landing on your front leg and shift the weight to your back

0:49:26 > 0:49:36leg, you are happy if you do that. Dawid Kubacki, 135.3. Poland go

0:49:36 > 0:49:49first with 938. And that puts pressure on Richard Freitag.

0:49:53 > 0:50:04Relatively long jump. He is holding in his reaction. He looks back up at

0:50:04 > 0:50:11the Hill. A little talking to himself, because that is a good

0:50:11 > 0:50:17jump, but it is so, so close. We saw Kubacki putting down 135.5, so it

0:50:17 > 0:50:25comes down to judging and those few win compensation points, barely any

0:50:25 > 0:50:32wind out there tonight. The German fans willing on Richard Freitag. At

0:50:32 > 0:50:40the top of the hill, the Olympic champion looking on, will he have

0:50:40 > 0:50:51that Freitag feeling? Second-place! And Poland have a 0.6 lead, going

0:50:51 > 0:50:55into the last. It is now Johann Andre Forfang, needs to be solid and

0:50:55 > 0:51:03long, but he has a bit of a cushion. A silver medallist on the normal

0:51:03 > 0:51:10hail, it is a good jump. Again, the distance wasn't quite up there with

0:51:10 > 0:51:15what we have seen, 132 metres, so Norway might lose a little ground on

0:51:15 > 0:51:19Poland and Germany or lose a little of that advantage that they have

0:51:19 > 0:51:26built up. They had about a 30 point gap. Let's see if those few extra

0:51:26 > 0:51:31metres will make the difference. The judges are looking at this, as well.

0:51:31 > 0:51:38It is a good looking jump, stock still, moving into that Telemark,

0:51:38 > 0:51:44almost offering up a little prayer. As Robert Johannson dawns the

0:51:44 > 0:51:51helmet, he's going to be the last man down for Norway. They stay in

0:51:51 > 0:52:01first place, 960.9 points, they preserve that advantage. The judges

0:52:01 > 0:52:04were happy, and you will see, now, actually that that gap has closed,

0:52:04 > 0:52:12so more than -- more like 20 points separating Norway and Poland with

0:52:12 > 0:52:17Germany a fraction behind. 20 points going into the last jump is still a

0:52:17 > 0:52:20lot to play with, but it means that Robert Johannson has to get it

0:52:20 > 0:52:28right.

0:52:28 > 0:52:31right. Already stressful enough for Austria to be fighting for four.

0:52:31 > 0:52:42They don't want to finish fifth.

0:52:43 > 0:52:52Long run, and that should be enough to send Austria into fourth place

0:52:52 > 0:52:57overall and into provisional third above Slovenia. He finished really

0:52:57 > 0:53:02strongly as well. He had sixth place in the end. Looks like he has

0:53:02 > 0:53:08delivered when it mattered, Michael label. Austria don't have the

0:53:08 > 0:53:14strength to be competing for medals but that is at least a promising way

0:53:14 > 0:53:24to end their ski jump Olympics. 138.5. Austria moving 11 points

0:53:24 > 0:53:30ahead of Slovenia. And it looks like they will settle for fourth, which

0:53:30 > 0:53:38means we have three jumpers to go, and three medals to decide. Nothing

0:53:38 > 0:53:41those guys can do, it is down to these. Andreas Wellinger, for

0:53:41 > 0:53:46Germany.

0:53:48 > 0:53:52Germany. He has an Olympic gold and silver already, is going to get

0:53:52 > 0:53:58another medal, what colour is it going to be? It is quite long. Looks

0:53:58 > 0:54:05like he wanted a little bit more. 134.5. It opens the door are

0:54:05 > 0:54:15fraction for Poland.

0:54:15 > 0:54:18fraction for Poland. Andreas Wellinger, only 22, but he's still

0:54:18 > 0:54:22the only returning member of the German squad that won the team gold

0:54:22 > 0:54:28in Sochi. Norway look right now like they are going to take that away

0:54:28 > 0:54:32from Germany, this time around, but what a talent this man is, gold and

0:54:32 > 0:54:36silver. His team-mates have been standing there applauding all week

0:54:36 > 0:54:46long. Here is Germany's final score, 1075.7. And we will see whether the

0:54:46 > 0:54:56man who won gold on Saturday, Kamil Stoch, can throw Poland about that.

0:54:56 > 0:55:041070 5.7, to beat. Kamil Stoch, three times an Olympic champion. He

0:55:04 > 0:55:08won the gold on Saturday. They smuggled crates of beer into the

0:55:08 > 0:55:13Olympic Village afterwards. Poland happy to be celebrating. Will they

0:55:13 > 0:55:18celebrate again?

0:55:19 > 0:55:22celebrate again? 134.5. It matches Andreas Wellinger. We will go to the

0:55:22 > 0:55:28judges.

0:55:28 > 0:55:35judges. Well, we had such a nail-biting finish between them in

0:55:35 > 0:55:41the last Olympic final. You can see him trying to choose nails off

0:55:41 > 0:55:44through his gloves when he was waiting for that final score to come

0:55:44 > 0:55:49up and in the end he won by a narrow margin, and Andreas Wellinger settle

0:55:49 > 0:55:53for silver. Now they are battling for medals BR for their countries.

0:55:53 > 0:55:59And look at this jump from Kamil Stoch. Glides into the landing. He

0:55:59 > 0:56:05cushions that so nicely. And all they can do now is wait for this

0:56:05 > 0:56:13score. Look at those bases, gripped on the screen, they are going to see

0:56:13 > 0:56:20it when you see it, they are second. 1072.4. They will take at least a

0:56:20 > 0:56:27bronze medal, but Germany stay ahead of them. Will it be silver or gold?

0:56:27 > 0:56:35Robert Johannson of Norway has about a 20 point cushion to play with and,

0:56:35 > 0:56:43for him and for Norway, gold is just a whisker away.

0:56:43 > 0:56:51a whisker away. Here he goes, for gold.

0:56:57 > 0:57:03It's long, it's clean, it's surely enough for gold for Norway! Gold for

0:57:03 > 0:57:10Robert Johannson, gold for the team. They are celebrating already. He has

0:57:10 > 0:57:16been imperious for all the Olympics. Two bronze medals, now they are

0:57:16 > 0:57:20going to be champions in the team event for the first time in their

0:57:20 > 0:57:25history, which is mad, it's crazy, the Norwegians invented this, they

0:57:25 > 0:57:28have one 30 medals at the Olympics and they've never won the team

0:57:28 > 0:57:34event. And the man who has captured so much attention around the world

0:57:34 > 0:57:41is the man who gets to glide home to gold on behalf of a whole nation.

0:57:41 > 0:57:47It's not official yet, but it was good, it was long, it was clean, it

0:57:47 > 0:57:52had everything it needed to win a gold medal and it's just a matter of

0:57:52 > 0:58:07the score coming up in front of our faces any second now.

0:58:07 > 0:58:14faces any second now. There is, it's gold! 1090.5. There will be no close

0:58:14 > 0:58:20shave in this Olympic team final. Robert Johannson delivers a gold for

0:58:20 > 0:58:27Norway. They will stand on top of that team podium for the first time.

0:58:27 > 0:58:32Those whiskers are golden, and Norway are your team ski jump

0:58:32 > 0:58:32Olympic champions.

0:58:32 > 0:58:37Norway are your team ski jump Olympic champions. Credit to Andreas

0:58:37 > 0:58:45Wellinger and the German team. Here, the final results.

0:58:45 > 0:58:49That is all from is now. I'll be back at five past midnight on BBC

0:58:49 > 0:58:56One, with the conclusion of the ice dance competition. Then, extended

0:58:56 > 0:58:57highlights of that
