0:00:09 > 0:00:17Previously at the Winter Olympics... Elise Christie safely through to the

0:00:17 > 0:00:23quarterfinals! And the hosts have gold!Oh, James!Today was not my

0:00:23 > 0:00:32day.A shame for Billy Morgan.Marit Bjoergen has created history but so

0:00:32 > 0:00:39has Sweden's Charlotte Kalla.

0:01:02 > 0:01:04As British sports fans, we are used to seeing our events

0:01:04 > 0:01:06affected by the weather.

0:01:06 > 0:01:08Wimbledon, Test cricket, the FA Cup third round.

0:01:08 > 0:01:14Well, the Winter Olympics is no different.

0:01:14 > 0:01:16Strong winds gusting at over 45 mph have today played

0:01:16 > 0:01:17havoc with the schedule.

0:01:17 > 0:01:21The last place you want to be in high winds is halfway up a mountain.

0:01:21 > 0:01:27Join us instead inside the cosy confines of our studio.

0:01:27 > 0:01:30Ben Kilner has competed at two Olympics on his snowboard.

0:01:30 > 0:01:35And Chemmy Alcott, who thundered downhill at four Olympics.

0:01:35 > 0:01:40The wind was a massive problem. Really disappointing, the highly

0:01:40 > 0:01:44anticipated men's downhill, the fast speeds and big air is postponed

0:01:44 > 0:01:48until Thursday.And the slopestyle. The women's slopestyle has been

0:01:48 > 0:01:54cancelled and the final will be tomorrow, two runs.Everyone goes

0:01:54 > 0:01:57through to the final which includes GB's Aimee Fuller, good news for

0:01:57 > 0:02:03her. Lots of other great sporting action, though. This is what is

0:02:03 > 0:02:05coming up.

0:02:05 > 0:02:07They're braving the elements in the men's snowboard slopestyle.

0:02:07 > 0:02:09Canada's Max Parrot leads after qualification.

0:02:09 > 0:02:14This looks like hard work.

0:02:14 > 0:02:16We follow Andrew Musgrave as he goes cross-country in the 30km skiathlon.

0:02:16 > 0:02:19Leading after his first two runs, super luger Felix Loch's on track

0:02:19 > 0:02:22for his third straight gold.

0:02:22 > 0:02:25Time to pump the humps, the moguls' mogul in the womens

0:02:25 > 0:02:26event is Britteny Cox.

0:02:26 > 0:02:31The girl from Down Under is looking to go up over.

0:02:31 > 0:02:33But first, it's the men's snowboard slopestyle and the men's competition

0:02:33 > 0:02:36started in the early hours of this morning before the wind

0:02:36 > 0:02:37really whipped up.

0:02:37 > 0:02:40Let's join our all-star cast of Jenny Jones, Ed Leigh,

0:02:40 > 0:02:43Tim Warwood and Jamie Nicholls, now in the commentary box rather

0:02:43 > 0:02:46than in a competition that is truly breathtaking.

0:02:51 > 0:02:54You're going to see computer games snowboarding from the world's very

0:02:54 > 0:03:06best riders.Absolutely ridiculous. Yes, really nice!Boom!Settle

0:03:06 > 0:03:11yourselves, Jamie Nicholls need this run.Making it look so easy, needs

0:03:11 > 0:03:20to put this down, here. Massive. Frontside 12.Oh, Jamie!If you

0:03:20 > 0:03:23could bottle disappointment, it would look like that.Disappointment

0:03:23 > 0:03:35for Rowan Coultas. Billy Morgan, second run.

0:03:35 > 0:03:42No, Billy! So close to hanging it on, it was literally by the hairs on

0:03:42 > 0:03:47my chin, could not make it to the second jump, pretty devastating.

0:03:47 > 0:03:51Unfortunately it was not to beef Team GB, Jamie Nicholls, Rowan

0:03:51 > 0:03:55Coultas and Billy Morgan did not make it through but we are here

0:03:55 > 0:03:58today for the Olympic slopestyle finals. There's a lively crowd down

0:03:58 > 0:04:07there and it is going to be absolute blinder.

0:04:15 > 0:04:20COMMENTATOR:Now the surprise package, Carlos Garcia Knight,

0:04:20 > 0:04:24coming out of New Zealand.Where he writes, he's incredibly consistent.

0:04:24 > 0:04:30The New

0:04:30 > 0:04:32The New Zealanders have got an airbag fitted outside of their

0:04:32 > 0:04:36training camp and Carlos and his team-mates Deanne Collins could use

0:04:36 > 0:04:42that a great eventful -- effect. Love that rail trick.Second jump,

0:04:42 > 0:04:47huge backside 12, wind assisted through the air.The back-to-back

0:04:47 > 0:04:5212s yesterday, the same again today. My goodness, first place. The gods

0:04:52 > 0:05:02were with him.Wow! Time to capture the dream. This man is the fairy

0:05:02 > 0:05:08tale of 2018, Road in Sochi with a broken rib and still took a bronze

0:05:08 > 0:05:14medal. He's had two horrendous injuries, a broken femur in 2016,

0:05:14 > 0:05:17broke in humorous, jaw and raids in 2017, but he is still at the very

0:05:17 > 0:05:22top of the sport. He's battled his way back and this is the first of

0:05:22 > 0:05:30three runs.Super good flows through those first two sections. Really

0:05:30 > 0:05:35nice from him. Then we see this huge gap 270. Couldn't get it.

0:05:35 > 0:05:43Uncharacteristic mistake.Jumped two, the double cork front 1080.

0:05:43 > 0:05:49Three rotations, upside down twice during that and he is going for it.

0:05:49 > 0:05:54Oh, my goodness! You could see the way the arms opened up on the last

0:05:54 > 0:05:59take-off, grabbing for everything he had. We come in for the Norwegian,

0:05:59 > 0:06:05Marcus Kleveland. He has entered three slopestyle contests this year

0:06:05 > 0:06:09and won three slopestyle contests this year. There is no one in the

0:06:09 > 0:06:16world better than Marcus Kleveland. On paper. You jinxed him, there,

0:06:16 > 0:06:22because he caught the tail as he did the 270 do that. Did not seem to

0:06:22 > 0:06:27affect him but again! Did he mean that? Just tucking in for the wind

0:06:27 > 0:06:32come here. Having to open up on the 1260 to stop the rotation. Speed is

0:06:32 > 0:06:43his friend. Has he got the triple? Oh! The biggest we have seen so far.

0:06:43 > 0:06:45The surprise is Carlos Garcia Knight from New Zealand, total Lone Wolf,

0:06:45 > 0:06:55out of nowhere, with a great run.

0:07:02 > 0:07:09Staale Sandbech map this is style personified when it comes to

0:07:09 > 0:07:14snowboarding. -- Staale Sandbech. Through the bowl, into the kickers,

0:07:14 > 0:07:19this is where it really starts to count.Frontside 1440.He has held

0:07:19 > 0:07:31an! Frontside 12.Absolutely massive.

0:07:31 > 0:07:38massive.Wow.Huge 1260! Frontside 14 and back-to-back 1260s, the man

0:07:38 > 0:07:45from Norway.Second run in the men's slopestyle final for the American

0:07:45 > 0:07:52protege, Red Gerard. Burst onto the scene aged 11. We have watched the

0:07:52 > 0:07:55boy become a man in front of our eyes. This is the biggest test he

0:07:55 > 0:08:03has faced yet.360 off the down bar. This run, really nice, huge

0:08:03 > 0:08:09frontside grabbed over the hitching post. The nose bone. He does not

0:08:09 > 0:08:14have heavy enough bones to make the speed, here.Definitely had speed,

0:08:14 > 0:08:23there.Needed, too big. -- E did. He just needs to clean up this run and

0:08:23 > 0:08:33he should see a considerable hike in his scores. What he's doing is good.

0:08:33 > 0:08:38Oh, really nice, so difficult, yeah. The tail slide 450 and then kind of

0:08:38 > 0:08:43a wrong way air to normal on the hip. He looks uncharacteristically

0:08:43 > 0:08:49sketchy at the moment. It is always so perfect with Mark McMorris, we

0:08:49 > 0:08:53are used to seeing it just flow for him and it is not at the moment, he

0:08:53 > 0:09:00looks like he's forcing it.Treble. Front trouble, well held.He held

0:09:00 > 0:09:06on.Is it the back trouble? He's always got... Anything you could do,

0:09:06 > 0:09:11Marcus Kleveland, I can do.We've just finished the second run and no

0:09:11 > 0:09:16surprise, Mark McMorris is in first place with a great run with 81240

0:09:16 > 0:09:19and a 16 treble on the bottom which was awesome. However, some of the

0:09:19 > 0:09:24guys are really struggling with the speed today and two of the

0:09:24 > 0:09:27frontrunners are actually not even putting down a run yet so it's all

0:09:27 > 0:09:40to play for still in the and final run. -- in the third and final run.

0:09:43 > 0:09:47The heat just keeps on coming, Carlos Garcia Knight, who came

0:09:47 > 0:09:51second in qualifying yesterday, and then led the scores for the first

0:09:51 > 0:10:03run of finals today.Now,...Oh, no! That is the end of his Olympics.Red

0:10:03 > 0:10:07Gerard is about to drop in for his third and final run. The boy needs

0:10:07 > 0:10:16to land something. He can do this. Red Gerard, the young rider on whom

0:10:16 > 0:10:22all American hopes are pinned. This is... Look at that, a big nose bone

0:10:22 > 0:10:28over the goalpost.Shift Apple three, that is your new desktop

0:10:28 > 0:10:37screensaver. Through the bowl.If he can't see or hear, he is letting the

0:10:37 > 0:10:44nose of the board clip the rail on the way over, tucking up. He needs

0:10:44 > 0:10:50speed through here.Slow switch backside. 1260. Much better speed.

0:10:50 > 0:10:55Bound the pace and he is taking off halfway along the panel, landed that

0:10:55 > 0:11:00one.Pumping for speed, you could seem willing it on.He's got a

0:11:00 > 0:11:09triple.Yes!Yes!Red Gerard is the cat amongst the pigeons. He's done

0:11:09 > 0:11:14it! Red Gerard has stomped a great run, let's see what his school is.

0:11:14 > 0:11:19Look at the crowd.Imagine the Norwegians and the Canadians,

0:11:19 > 0:11:23putting all of their weight behind slopestyle teams and twice out of

0:11:23 > 0:11:32nowhere the gold is snatched by the Americans.Oh! My goodness! He's

0:11:32 > 0:11:38into first, Red Gerard for America. Three riders left to drop, the burst

0:11:38 > 0:11:41of them is Mark McMorris, the most successful slopestyle rider in

0:11:41 > 0:11:48history.Really nice top rail section. 450 out there.So

0:11:48 > 0:11:54technical.A big gap from the hip. Oh! He needs all the speed he can

0:11:54 > 0:12:01get, here. One, two, three, it's there, it's absolutely huge. Now

0:12:01 > 0:12:11hold your nerve, Mark McMorris.No! Oh, no! He's down. He's fallen. Mark

0:12:11 > 0:12:16McMorris will not win gold. Red Gerard, the youngster, is still in

0:12:16 > 0:12:21gold medal position right now.Now strap yourselves in, Marcus

0:12:21 > 0:12:25Kleveland, this kid failed to put down a clean run in the first and

0:12:25 > 0:12:30second descents, can he do it now when it matters? Pressure is

0:12:30 > 0:12:37immense.He's literally taking a bath in a pressure cooker right now.

0:12:37 > 0:12:42This is what he's doing. Unbelievable. Huge switch. He's

0:12:42 > 0:12:49going to absolutely feeling this. Look how slow he is, he is so

0:12:49 > 0:12:56relaxed.One, two, three.He's gone, he's gone!Marcus Kleveland sat

0:12:56 > 0:13:01down. That's it, Red Gerard is in first position still. Oh, my

0:13:01 > 0:13:09goodness, Max Parrot still to go. Backside 360, 180 off. He's been

0:13:09 > 0:13:13flawless through the rails.Proved a lot of people wrong with the rail

0:13:13 > 0:13:20sections today.Needs to take it easy now on the backside rodeo.

0:13:20 > 0:13:26Oh...Here we go, hold your breath, one, two, three and a half, that is

0:13:26 > 0:13:32the 1260 out of the way. Is the speed with him? Just the double.

0:13:32 > 0:13:40He's played safe. He is not unveiled the treble.

0:13:40 > 0:13:46the treble.Oh!Backside triple cork 1440 to finish. What do the judges

0:13:46 > 0:13:51do now?I've got a bailing we are looking at one of the biggest heists

0:13:51 > 0:13:55in snowboard history. LAUGHTER This is Red Gerard's ma'am, how you

0:13:55 > 0:14:04feeling?Ecstatic! We have the whole family here. I'm just ecstatic.Max

0:14:04 > 0:14:06Parrot is waiting, Red Gerard, Marcus Kleveland, Staale Sandbech,

0:14:06 > 0:14:13Mark McMorris all waiting. 86! Silver medal position for Max

0:14:13 > 0:14:18Parrot, the American 17-year-old, Red Gerard, barnstorming the men's

0:14:18 > 0:14:25slopestyle finals! CHEERING

0:14:29 > 0:14:37The men's slopestyle snowboard gold medal will return to the USA.You

0:14:37 > 0:14:41have just witnessed something amazing. How are you thinking?

0:14:41 > 0:14:45Honestly, my mind is blown. I'm so happy for him, and Mark and all the

0:14:45 > 0:14:52boys. It just really let my fire. I'm excited to go ride this bargain

0:14:52 > 0:14:57hopefully qualify for the finals. It's absolutely an ecstatic

0:14:57 > 0:15:01atmosphere here at the moment. Amazing result for Red Gerard. I'm

0:15:01 > 0:15:06pretty sure he won't be able to believe it himself. At 17, he's come

0:15:06 > 0:15:13away a gold medallist. Oh, exciting! I was surprised or even make it to

0:15:13 > 0:15:17the finals of the Olympics and to get first is above me. I don't even

0:15:17 > 0:15:24know what's going on, to be honest, right now.

0:15:24 > 0:15:31He's the second youngest of seven and then, that was the UFA's first

0:15:31 > 0:15:36goal medal but talk us through this run and what Read does when the

0:15:36 > 0:15:36goal medal but talk us through this run and what Read does when the

0:15:36 > 0:15:41pressure is on?The differences he takes a bit of a unique line. The

0:15:41 > 0:15:44rail features are slightly different. He goes on to this

0:15:44 > 0:15:50feature here, which no one else did, transfers across onto another rail

0:15:50 > 0:15:53feature, and that's what the judges are looking for. They are looking

0:15:53 > 0:15:59for something different, that stands out from the rest. Not only is he

0:15:59 > 0:16:04young, he's the first Winter Olympics medallist born in the 21st

0:16:04 > 0:16:12century, 17. There's nothing of him. He is five weighs eight stone, four,

0:16:12 > 0:16:17so he's a young gun, not fully grown. He went into this in last

0:16:17 > 0:16:22place, this last run. He had to put everything on the line. He had to

0:16:22 > 0:16:28stomp it.Absolutely, when the pressure is on you put in that bit

0:16:28 > 0:16:33more effort. He started snowboarding aged two and by the age of six could

0:16:33 > 0:16:37do a standing backflip am so he's been a really fast am a young

0:16:37 > 0:16:42developer.The difference between the youngsters that are growing up

0:16:42 > 0:16:44now, when I started snowboarding, half these tricks weren't even

0:16:44 > 0:16:49invented at the time. Read is coming to a world where there's all these

0:16:49 > 0:16:55tricks available and he's so young and is copying.He's got a lovely

0:16:55 > 0:16:59attitude, mocks himself beautifully. He took this photo on Instagram,

0:16:59 > 0:17:02obviously this was taken only a couple of weeks ago! He looks like

0:17:02 > 0:17:09the Milky bar kid! So sweet.Would you have said that kid would have a

0:17:09 > 0:17:11goal medal round his neck tonight? There

0:17:11 > 0:17:13goal medal round his neck tonight? There will be loads of people

0:17:13 > 0:17:17watching this, thinking I want to try that, go to the website and get

0:17:17 > 0:17:21inspired but how did you start?I started, I live up in Scotland and

0:17:21 > 0:17:26one winter when it snowed I decided to head down to my local golf course

0:17:26 > 0:17:29and my mum bought me a little snowboard and that's how it started.

0:17:29 > 0:17:35It was purely on snow. From there on, she booked me lessons up in the

0:17:35 > 0:17:39mountains but I think kids across the UK these days are heading to the

0:17:39 > 0:17:43local snow domes and that's where we get started.I've seen them

0:17:43 > 0:17:48practising on Hemel Hempstead in the rails and everything. The women's

0:17:48 > 0:17:50slopestyle qualification was cancelled so it's straight through

0:17:50 > 0:17:55to the final for all of the women, happening at 1am, no Katie Ormerod

0:17:55 > 0:17:59sadly after her fuel fracture but 26 will go including Great Britain's

0:17:59 > 0:18:07Aimee Fuller. A lot can happen in 24 hours.Let's go.What a 24 hours we

0:18:07 > 0:18:20had.Oh!I feel really pumped.

0:18:20 > 0:18:23Cheerio.

0:18:31 > 0:18:34Thanks for watching. We're going to move on to cross-country skiing now

0:18:34 > 0:18:38once the weather won't be a problem for Britain's Andrew Musgrave, who

0:18:38 > 0:18:42lived in Alaska for five years before moving to Aberdeenshire. He

0:18:42 > 0:18:45won the overall Norwegian title four years ago. That's the equivalent of

0:18:45 > 0:18:49the Norwegian hitting a double century at Lord's, so pretty

0:18:49 > 0:19:01unlikely. This morning he went in the 30 K skiathlon. Skiathlon is a

0:19:01 > 0:19:02brutal test of lungs,

0:19:02 > 0:19:03heart and

0:19:03 > 0:19:10skill and skis. It examines two skiing techniques, classical, one

0:19:10 > 0:19:13ski first gliding forwards, then they'd change skis and poles with

0:19:13 > 0:19:18the clock still ticking. Now it's time for freestyle with the ski,

0:19:18 > 0:19:21angle and technique similar to ice skating but with more snow and fewer

0:19:21 > 0:19:26sequins. The men will cover 30 gruelling kilometres. Everything is

0:19:26 > 0:19:30left in the snow. Andrew Musgrave has a chance of a medal in this, but

0:19:30 > 0:19:39a Norwegian and two Swiss start as favourites.

0:19:41 > 0:19:47After confessing to overtraining for Sochi, skiing in his world is like a

0:19:47 > 0:19:49tranquillised badger, Scottish cross-country skier Andrew Musgrave

0:19:49 > 0:19:52is out to make amends. Four years on and

0:19:52 > 0:19:52is out to make amends. Four years on and four

0:19:52 > 0:19:54is out to make amends. Four years on and four years wiser way here at the

0:19:54 > 0:19:5930 K skiathlon, a good result here will set Musgrave up for his

0:19:59 > 0:20:06favoured event, the 15 K freestyle later this week. One person who

0:20:06 > 0:20:09certainly knows how Andrew is feeling right now with his sister,

0:20:09 > 0:20:15Posy. You competed in Sochi. This is the first time watching as a

0:20:15 > 0:20:19spectator, feeling nervous?I am, it's worse to be on this side and

0:20:19 > 0:20:22watching rather than be competing yourself because at that point you

0:20:22 > 0:20:27are in the zone.Andrew is better at skating. The fact the skating is

0:20:27 > 0:20:32second, will that be an advantage? It can be. He has improved in

0:20:32 > 0:20:35classic in the last few years and this helps. He has to stay with the

0:20:35 > 0:20:44pack on the

0:20:44 > 0:20:48pack on the classic but not burn too much energy, so if he can manage to

0:20:48 > 0:20:52do that he has a good shot in the second half of the race in the

0:20:52 > 0:20:54skating.What's the best we can expect from Andrew? He's ranked

0:20:54 > 0:20:57tenth. Once you are the top ten anything can happen. I don't want to

0:20:57 > 0:21:00get too excited and go ahead of myself but if he gets a good day,

0:21:00 > 0:21:04who knows where he could end up.The skiers have left their skating skis

0:21:04 > 0:21:07in this transition area. Musgrave is in box ten, because that's his big

0:21:07 > 0:21:12number. They are in the corral, getting ready to go. Over to your

0:21:12 > 0:21:16commentators for this meant's 30 K skiathlon, Ollie Williams and Rob

0:21:16 > 0:21:23Walker.

0:21:23 > 0:21:28COMMENTATOR: There's Andrew Musgrave proudly

0:21:28 > 0:21:31representing Great Britain. Can he produced the greatest performance

0:21:31 > 0:21:35we've ever seen from a British cross-country skier? We all very

0:21:35 > 0:21:40much hope so. The first event, the men's cross-country programme, the

0:21:40 > 0:21:4430 kilometres skiathlon and they are under way. This is the raise we have

0:21:44 > 0:21:48been looking forward to for the last few months bearing in mind perform

0:21:48 > 0:21:54some of the very best in the world. -- bearing in mind the form of some

0:21:54 > 0:22:01of the very best in the world. Seven, that was Kruger who fell, a

0:22:01 > 0:22:07real shame. That's a real shock. He trips on the right ski. It looks

0:22:07 > 0:22:15like there's a collision. You are on top of each other.The gap is 18

0:22:15 > 0:22:24seconds at the moment. For Synman Hickstead Kruger. V-style is a

0:22:24 > 0:22:29discipline where Andrew Musgrave feels most comfortable so if he's

0:22:29 > 0:22:31there or thereabouts then maybe he could see something very special

0:22:31 > 0:22:38indeed -- freestyle.

0:22:38 > 0:22:40indeed -- freestyle. Pacemaking duties at the front. Andrew Musgrave

0:22:40 > 0:22:47is back in around seventh or eighth place, certainly up with that group.

0:22:47 > 0:22:52You can see Synman Hickstead Kruger desperately trying to work to the

0:22:52 > 0:22:56front because he knows he can't have any impact unless he gets onto this

0:22:56 > 0:22:59break on the front line right now. As they come in towards the

0:22:59 > 0:23:06completion of the first of their four classical circuits...There's

0:23:06 > 0:23:09goes Musgrave out of the stadium from lap one. It's difficult

0:23:09 > 0:23:13blustery conditions, a couple of crashes that Musgrave managed to

0:23:13 > 0:23:16avoid getting caught up in and it's really about conserving energy in

0:23:16 > 0:23:21this classic section of the race. Britain's Callum Smith also coming

0:23:21 > 0:23:29through. He's just at the tail end of the pack there as well.

0:23:29 > 0:23:31of the pack there as well. There's Krueger, bib seven, this is better

0:23:31 > 0:23:35from the Norwegian. If you could get back in the mix for a medal it would

0:23:35 > 0:23:41be extraordinary.

0:23:41 > 0:23:45be extraordinary. It's not quite a Formula One pit stop, but it will be

0:23:45 > 0:23:49important. It's a bit like triathlon. You don't win the race in

0:23:49 > 0:23:54transition, but you can certainly give yourself a problem if it

0:23:54 > 0:23:57doesn't go smoothly. Andrew Musgrave safely through. Krueger has almost

0:23:57 > 0:24:02caught that entire gap up. That's excellent work from the Norwegian.

0:24:02 > 0:24:05Coming out of the ski exchange, different body language from

0:24:05 > 0:24:08Musgrave. He's doing his preferred technique now and he's really going

0:24:08 > 0:24:15for it.Look at Andrew Musgrave coming through there. Great skiing

0:24:15 > 0:24:21by the Britain. There's Andrew Musgrave in the centre off your

0:24:21 > 0:24:26picture, right in the mix with the very best cross-country skiers in

0:24:26 > 0:24:31the world, and the Britain is in with a chance of a Winter Olympics

0:24:31 > 0:24:37medal in cross-country skiing! This is incredible! Krueger is leading.

0:24:37 > 0:24:41He was flat on his face in the first 200 metres of the race and somehow

0:24:41 > 0:24:46managed to claw his way back into contention and into the lead.

0:24:46 > 0:24:51Krueger from Musgrave, come on, Musgrave! Krueger clearly feels as

0:24:51 > 0:24:57though going hard with four K to go with his best chance of getting on

0:24:57 > 0:25:02the podium. A few athletes coming past Andrew Musgrave, just needs to

0:25:02 > 0:25:09hold on here, the Britain. And now a few metres open up between Andrew

0:25:09 > 0:25:12Musgrave and the men who are currently not battling for three

0:25:12 > 0:25:18medals, battling for two.

0:25:18 > 0:25:20medals, battling for two. It's Norway one, two and three at the

0:25:20 > 0:25:24moment. They are definitely closing down on Krueger aren't they have a

0:25:24 > 0:25:29monstrous climb still to contend between now and the finish. Here it

0:25:29 > 0:25:37is, he is seriously hurting now. His lead has been halved, from 22

0:25:37 > 0:25:40seconds, 211. Norway occupy all three medal positions at the moment.

0:25:40 > 0:25:46Andrew Musgrave around seventh place at the moment. It's been a

0:25:46 > 0:25:48sensational performance from Andrew Musgrave, absolutely phenomenal so

0:25:48 > 0:25:53far.

0:25:53 > 0:25:56far. Krueger, having fallen right at the start of the race, is going to

0:25:56 > 0:26:02finish the day in a blaze of glory! Absolutely incredible recovery

0:26:02 > 0:26:10against one of the best skiathlon fields ever assembled. Krueger is

0:26:10 > 0:26:14the Winter Olympic champion. He was down at the start but he wasn't out,

0:26:14 > 0:26:23he didn't give up. It's someone, two, three for the Norwegians --

0:26:23 > 0:26:27it's a warm, two, three for the Norwegians. A sensational effort

0:26:27 > 0:26:32from the Britain. Andrew Musgrave in seven, Musgrave announces his

0:26:32 > 0:26:38arrival at the top of the sport and says, we Brits can be world class as

0:26:38 > 0:26:43well.What a race, what a result. Will he be happy?He will be

0:26:43 > 0:26:47disappointed to be that close for so long and not quite make it but 70s

0:26:47 > 0:26:52amazing. He should be really proud. We've never had a result like this,

0:26:52 > 0:26:58top ten, incredible.Absolutely, the best ever result was Andrew in

0:26:58 > 0:27:04Sochi, 29th, in Sochi, so to jump those places is incredible. Here he

0:27:04 > 0:27:10is.Thanks.Well done, Andrew.

0:27:10 > 0:27:12those places is incredible.Here he is.Thanks.Well done, Andrew. How

0:27:12 > 0:27:17are you feeling?A bit disappointed, to be honest. I thought going out

0:27:17 > 0:27:21when I had a lap and a half to go I was feeling good, feeling confident

0:27:21 > 0:27:25and I thought I would be able to get a medal and I was feeling really

0:27:25 > 0:27:30good and then just tried to keep up on the last lap and went a bit hard

0:27:30 > 0:27:35and slipped back through the field. Yeah.Has it set you up for the 15

0:27:35 > 0:27:41K?Might form seems to be good. The 15 K should be my best event. I

0:27:41 > 0:27:46should be in a fight for a medal and hopefully go faster than today. What

0:27:46 > 0:27:53do you need to do to beat the Norwegians?Go faster down their!

0:27:53 > 0:27:57Good answer, correct, go faster than them. Seventh place the best ever

0:27:57 > 0:28:02finish by a mile at a rich -ish cross-country skier and yet he was

0:28:02 > 0:28:07devastated.He was so down, he was so close. He was pulling that whole

0:28:07 > 0:28:11field. Yes, Krueger was in front but he was pulling everyone towards him

0:28:11 > 0:28:14the whole time and no one helped him. They are not going to help him,

0:28:14 > 0:28:18but he is the Brit out there on his own where is the Norwegians have

0:28:18 > 0:28:22strength in numbers. They can collect Krueger go because it still

0:28:22 > 0:28:29Norway winning gold and Andrew Musgrave bases himself in Norway, he

0:28:29 > 0:28:33speaks fluent Norwegian. Is adopted their culture and spirit. He knows

0:28:33 > 0:28:37what he needs to do to achieve Gold and that's purely on what is on his

0:28:37 > 0:28:41mind, he wants gold and he can go home happy. Until then he seems to

0:28:41 > 0:28:47be putting so much into his training. You seen him change

0:28:47 > 0:28:52physically?He's turned into a mature athlete.It was extraordinary

0:28:52 > 0:28:57what happened with the gold medallist, Krueger, down he goes,

0:28:57 > 0:29:02number seven, about fourth, in the middle row. It's his fault it

0:29:02 > 0:29:07happens. He the balances. He tips forward, loses the grip and his ski

0:29:07 > 0:29:12and takes a few out. The rest of the fields did well to go round him, but

0:29:12 > 0:29:15he got the bit between his teeth, he was frothing and attacked from the

0:29:15 > 0:29:21back.It fired him up. An amazing performance. Musgrave, his better

0:29:21 > 0:29:27event to come, the 15 K. Its freestyle this year, they change it

0:29:27 > 0:29:31every four years. Freestylers his favoured.Yes, he stands a strong

0:29:31 > 0:29:35chance and you can see by his performance going up in seventh

0:29:35 > 0:29:39place compared to the last Olympics, his fitness is very much progressed.

0:29:39 > 0:29:42I'm going to make prediction, I think cross-country skiing is going

0:29:42 > 0:29:47to be the big hit of these games. You can do it in the UK, roller

0:29:47 > 0:29:52skiing. There is a roller ski club in Scotland and London, so we can

0:29:52 > 0:29:57train in the UK for this.If you want to, get inspired is how you

0:29:57 > 0:30:03find out more about it. Andrew's best chance for a medal in the 15 K,

0:30:03 > 0:30:06next Friday at 6am, so tune in for that. Well worth getting up early

0:30:06 > 0:30:11for, it will go on for awhile, 6am is when it starts and you need to

0:30:11 > 0:30:16see the start because they sometimes over.

0:30:16 > 0:30:18Can Felix Loch slide into the history books?

0:30:18 > 0:30:21The super luger's looking to defend his double Olympic crown.

0:30:21 > 0:30:25They've got shock absorbers for legs.

0:30:25 > 0:30:28Canadian Justine Lafour-Dupointe is also looking to defend her title

0:30:28 > 0:30:32from Sochi in the women's moguls.

0:30:32 > 0:30:35It's the team event in the figure skating, where it's a bit

0:30:35 > 0:30:37of everything with short and free programmes.

0:30:37 > 0:30:45The big names include Russia's Evgenia Medvedeva.

0:30:47 > 0:30:53Are we about to see the emergence of a new superstar? This guy could rule

0:30:53 > 0:30:57Whistler. Absolutely steaming over the line, Felix Loch is the Olympic

0:30:57 > 0:31:03luge champion. Can he get gold for the second time? Absolutely fly, two

0:31:03 > 0:31:08golds, he's only 24! Maybe go three or four.

0:31:10 > 0:31:13Felix Loch is a luge machine but any athlete who makes the German luge

0:31:13 > 0:31:14team is a medal prospect.

0:31:14 > 0:31:17Half of the 28 Olympic singles events ever held have

0:31:17 > 0:31:18produced German one-twos.

0:31:18 > 0:31:21Matthew Pinsent was there.

0:31:26 > 0:31:31So they are all chasing Felix Loch who shot through yesterday's rounds

0:31:31 > 0:31:34and is on the icy path to a third straight Olympic gold medal in this

0:31:34 > 0:31:40event. History has his back. The Germans are huge in luge. Germany,

0:31:40 > 0:31:44East Germany and West Germany combined have 31 gold medals in

0:31:44 > 0:31:50Olympic luge events. The rest of the world, just 13. But could that

0:31:50 > 0:31:59become 14? Austrian David Gleirscher outs it -- outside Felix Loch on the

0:31:59 > 0:32:04first running to do it again. British outs and slipped away, Adam

0:32:04 > 0:32:08Rosen and David Staudinger ending up 23rd and 35th respectively but look

0:32:08 > 0:32:13out for Felix Loch. He's reached a speed of 96 mph in the luge, faster

0:32:13 > 0:32:19than anyone. Can he equal the record of three consecutive gold medals?

0:32:19 > 0:32:25Don't blink. You might miss history. And in the third run, Felix Loch

0:32:25 > 0:32:31bolted, out first on the track with his bustard said so far. That would

0:32:31 > 0:32:34take some catching and David Gleirscher gave good chase, the

0:32:34 > 0:32:37Austrian putting himself in with a chance of a medal if probably not

0:32:37 > 0:32:44gold. That was Roman Repilov's goal, and he has a win or bust approach to

0:32:44 > 0:32:49luge. This was more bust. The door was now open for American Chris

0:32:49 > 0:32:52Mazdzer, who went even quicker than Felix Loch to climb into second

0:32:52 > 0:32:59place. Rosen still had a chance of a fourth run but with only the top 20

0:32:59 > 0:33:05qualifying, he missed the mark by an agonising two places. That was more

0:33:05 > 0:33:08than 2.5 seconds ahead of an improved Staudinger, who finished

0:33:08 > 0:33:1733rd. And amazing run there for Chris Mazdzer, the American, to set

0:33:17 > 0:33:22up the fourth and final run but look at the weather. They don't call it

0:33:22 > 0:33:26the Winter Olympics for nothing. COMMENTATOR: Johannes Ludwig next

0:33:26 > 0:33:34for Germany. The bronze medallist in 2014. Ranked number five in the

0:33:34 > 0:33:39world. He's on his way. He's 0.2 seconds off the bronze medal as he

0:33:39 > 0:33:46starts Sony definitely needs that, 47.4, ideally, 47.5 possibly.For

0:33:46 > 0:33:50these guys now it is about staying in front of the person that has just

0:33:50 > 0:33:53gone down. Don't worry too much about the medals at the moment. That

0:33:53 > 0:33:58was a little mistake but I don't know if it will cost too much time.

0:33:58 > 0:34:02As he builds a speed, he needs to get it right. Sliding off the

0:34:02 > 0:34:06corners slightly. Not so good but that is amazing, the speed that he

0:34:06 > 0:34:12has got, he should stay in front. Definitely got the right lines but

0:34:12 > 0:34:15he is dropping away slightly. Is this enough as he comes up the hill

0:34:15 > 0:34:21to stay in front of Dominik Fischnaller? So tight as they go

0:34:21 > 0:34:26towards the line. He has done it ahead of Dominik Fischnaller, two

0:34:26 > 0:34:34thousandth of a second. Now the medal Chase is on. In bronze medal

0:34:34 > 0:34:38position at the moment, David Gleirscher, the surprise package of

0:34:38 > 0:34:42this meant's singles Olympic championship, a 23-year-old from the

0:34:42 > 0:34:50Tyrol. Number 12 in the world. Up until this week, pretty inconsistent

0:34:50 > 0:34:54performer, capable of excellence. His best finish in the World Cup was

0:34:54 > 0:35:01fourth. He may well be getting an Olympic medal in a few seconds time.

0:35:01 > 0:35:04This is all about staying in front of those guys that have gone down.

0:35:04 > 0:35:08He does not care at the moment about the American, about Felix Loch. He

0:35:08 > 0:35:14wants an Olympic medal. Whether he fights for bronze or silver, he can

0:35:14 > 0:35:17find out when he gets to the bottom of the track but at the moment, he

0:35:17 > 0:35:21just needs to see number one when he gets to the bottom. A guy of his

0:35:21 > 0:35:25calibre, there should be no reason why not. The way he has been sliding

0:35:25 > 0:35:31all week, we can see the snow on the track, will display apart in the

0:35:31 > 0:35:36process of these medals in the last few corners? Especially as you come

0:35:36 > 0:35:40down the straight, and that is what I'm talking about, about how the

0:35:40 > 0:35:45sled can be a bit trickier to handle in snowy conditions. He is going to

0:35:45 > 0:35:49keep it. This will be an Olympic medal for Austria, this will get the

0:35:49 > 0:35:55bronze medal for Austria at best.He turns the final corner and he is

0:35:55 > 0:36:01ahead of Lodewyck. Austria have their medal for the first time in

0:36:01 > 0:36:062002, applause all round. -- since 2002. Great work from David

0:36:06 > 0:36:09Gleirscher. Not many people would have said that was possible and just

0:36:09 > 0:36:19look at the euphoria! The Austrian is in heaven. Chris Mazdzer has also

0:36:19 > 0:36:23had a brilliant week, currently in silver medal position. Maybe he

0:36:23 > 0:36:27won't worry about Felix Loch editing, Felix Loch is 0.2 seconds

0:36:27 > 0:36:33clear of Chris Mazdzer. Now the American just needs to do better

0:36:33 > 0:36:39than David Gleirscher. Chris Mazdzer goes to the United States. He will

0:36:39 > 0:36:43be happy when he gets to the bottom whether he sees one or two because

0:36:43 > 0:36:47that means he's got an Olympic medal, whether it is bronze or

0:36:47 > 0:36:50silver. He will definitely want to be silver but he will be happy

0:36:50 > 0:36:53either way. You can see how much snow there is on the track now

0:36:53 > 0:36:57compared to what there was even two minutes ago when the last competitor

0:36:57 > 0:37:03went down. This could affect the way he comes down the straight. Riding a

0:37:03 > 0:37:07high line first and then dropping out and that is perfect, what a

0:37:07 > 0:37:10straight and he has got good speed. This is definitely going to be a

0:37:10 > 0:37:16silver medal for the American. This is the first American... It is going

0:37:16 > 0:37:21to be down to the thousands all the way.Uphill all the way, loss of

0:37:21 > 0:37:28speed all the way. Cannot quite do it. It is a bronze medal for him,

0:37:28 > 0:37:32not silver. Chris Mazdzer becomes the first American to win a medal at

0:37:32 > 0:37:35the Olympic Games in the men's single luge. It is a fantastic

0:37:35 > 0:37:43achievement.

0:37:43 > 0:37:48achievement. The last German to win three singles titles was a great and

0:37:48 > 0:37:52now Felix Loch, at 28, as the snow intensifies and wisps across his

0:37:52 > 0:37:58face, is on his way. Surely a mistake free run from Felix Loch

0:37:58 > 0:38:02will see him win gold? He starts with a 0.2 seconds advantage ahead

0:38:02 > 0:38:07of Robert Blair shot. He's looking clean early on. He has been so

0:38:07 > 0:38:12consistent. -- David Gleirscher. Surely he is seconds away from gold?

0:38:12 > 0:38:15You can see the line moving, interesting to note when he comes in

0:38:15 > 0:38:18to some of the bigger corners, he turned his head into the corner to

0:38:18 > 0:38:24put pressure on the top runner to help him steer. That is a mistake!

0:38:24 > 0:38:28Could that be the medal has gone! Could that be the three medals he

0:38:28 > 0:38:33has wanted, the three gold medals, as he got in speed?First mistake in

0:38:33 > 0:38:37the race, first mistake of the week for Felix Loch, coming on the 15th

0:38:37 > 0:38:41and 16th and uphill, there's going to be sometime between him and David

0:38:41 > 0:38:46Gleirscher and Felix Loch has blown it!He's not going to do it!He does

0:38:46 > 0:38:49not even have a medal and the Austrian team swamp David

0:38:49 > 0:38:57Gleirscher! He becomes the first Austrian in 50 years to win gold in

0:38:57 > 0:39:02the luge! No one had him down really for a medal hope, let alone goals,

0:39:02 > 0:39:08but Felix Loch, -- a gold, but Felix Loch with that mistake a bitter,

0:39:08 > 0:39:10bitter defeat. He

0:39:10 > 0:39:15can't believe it. Amy Williams is alongside me to react to that major

0:39:15 > 0:39:21in the luge, no medal for Felix Loch. What went wrong?I know, he

0:39:21 > 0:39:23was devastated, he made the devastating mistake of what I call

0:39:23 > 0:39:27the wonky straight, a tenth and 11th on his exit out of nine was the

0:39:27 > 0:39:31wrong angle and he was fighting not to clip the corner, so he is

0:39:31 > 0:39:34fighting not to clip the right-hand side which causes him to skid,

0:39:34 > 0:39:39cutting into the ice which is like a braking system, and then he clips

0:39:39 > 0:39:47right here, you can see the snow and ice

0:39:47 > 0:39:50ice coming up and then used to high into 12, so he is oscillating, high

0:39:50 > 0:39:53and low and high and he is fighting, his head is really high.It was

0:39:53 > 0:39:56quite high before that Cummings had seen to be quite high the whole way

0:39:56 > 0:39:59down.He did not look as settled and comfortable as he did so whether the

0:39:59 > 0:40:02fact it had started snowing was playing on his mind, snow on the

0:40:02 > 0:40:06track, how much it would affect him, he was the last one in the changing

0:40:06 > 0:40:12room waiting to go down, you're sure of the psychological nature of what

0:40:12 > 0:40:15is going on in his head but the Austrian shock, he'd never even won

0:40:15 > 0:40:20a World Cup race before and now he's Olympic champion.Really contrasting

0:40:20 > 0:40:23emotions because Felix Loch was being consoled by his coach on the

0:40:23 > 0:40:27ice while the Austrians celebrated, David Gleirscher taking the gold

0:40:27 > 0:40:30medal and he had led after the first run and then dropped down the

0:40:30 > 0:40:33leaderboard and finally came back to take the gold on the final one, and

0:40:33 > 0:40:39also Chris Mazdzer. Of the US, the first time they have won a medal in

0:40:39 > 0:40:43men's luge.Amazing to see three people you did not expect to be

0:40:43 > 0:40:48there, Felix Loch at 0.2 seconds in his bag and lost it and this is an

0:40:48 > 0:40:51unforgiving track, you can't make up time when you make a mistake because

0:40:51 > 0:40:55there are uphill sections.Plenty to learn head of the other events. Amy

0:40:55 > 0:40:59is going to Seoul and then Pyeongchang for the skeleton events,

0:40:59 > 0:41:03the men's on Thursday and Friday and the women's, featuring Lizzy Yarnold

0:41:03 > 0:41:09and Laura Deas, Friday and Saturday. Thank you for that and good -- thank

0:41:09 > 0:41:14you for that and all of your insight.

0:41:14 > 0:41:18Now it is time for the women's moguls which is all about the bumps

0:41:18 > 0:41:21and how you negotiate them. The women's final featured Justin

0:41:21 > 0:41:27Dufour-Lapointe as the defending champion from Canada.

0:41:27 > 0:41:31The moguls is a world of bumps and jumps, the key is to ski fast, jump

0:41:31 > 0:41:36high and look good. 60% of the marks are awarded for the technical

0:41:36 > 0:41:41quality of the turns over the moguls or mounds, and another 20% is based

0:41:41 > 0:41:45on Beattie jumps on the course and the final 20% comes from the speed

0:41:45 > 0:41:51you manage to do it all in. The skier's legs must be like pistons,

0:41:51 > 0:41:54constantly moving, always just the tiniest misjudgement away from an

0:41:54 > 0:42:02unfortunate but spectacular finish. Six were still sounding calm the

0:42:02 > 0:42:06final three, including reigning Olympic champion, Justine

0:42:06 > 0:42:10Dufour-Lapointe and now, thanks to the weather, it got really tough,

0:42:10 > 0:42:15first on the slope, Yulia Galysheva of Kazakhstan. COMMENTATOR: The

0:42:15 > 0:42:18super final of the women's Olympic moguls competition is underway,

0:42:18 > 0:42:22Yulia Galysheva coming down the centre, getting a decent somersault

0:42:22 > 0:42:28in, taking a brave aerial position at the top of the course. Now we

0:42:28 > 0:42:31follow her with the camera at the side of the track, her knees are

0:42:31 > 0:42:39locked in well, solid skiing from the athlete from Kazakhstan. Tiring

0:42:39 > 0:42:44slightly now as she goes front flip off the final jump, landing softly

0:42:44 > 0:42:54and just over 30 seconds. 77.4 is her score. Next up, the defending

0:42:54 > 0:42:59champion, Justine Dufour-Lapointe. Can she become the first skier ever

0:42:59 > 0:43:06to win this twice? Now she opened the throttle as she hits the bumps

0:43:06 > 0:43:10in the middle of the course and really piling on the pressure, an

0:43:10 > 0:43:13Yulia Galysheva, who is waiting and watching at the foot of the

0:43:13 > 0:43:17mountain. Read skiing from the defending champion, saving her best

0:43:17 > 0:43:22until last. She is absolutely tearing through the turns, flying

0:43:22 > 0:43:26high, landing softly, slightly backward, inside 30 seconds, the

0:43:26 > 0:43:32fastest of the day so far in the super final. 29.54 seconds. That

0:43:32 > 0:43:36might just be enough to bring her another Olympic medal. Justine

0:43:36 > 0:43:46Dufour-Lapointe leads the way, 78.50 six. Perrine Laffont will be next,

0:43:46 > 0:43:50the youngster, just 19. The first ten turns before the kicker. She

0:43:50 > 0:43:55keeps it relatively straightforward and lacks a little bit of control,

0:43:55 > 0:43:59straight after the landing. She is back on top of her skis now and is

0:43:59 > 0:44:03absolutely tearing down the course. But that mistake on the birds

0:44:03 > 0:44:09landing might just cost her in the eyes of the judges. -- on the first

0:44:09 > 0:44:13landing. She's got to go big and get it right, over she goes, the landing

0:44:13 > 0:44:18is OK at the time is all right, 29.30 six. She is the quickest of

0:44:18 > 0:44:24the super final so far. She has got to beat just been Dufour-Lapointe's

0:44:24 > 0:44:2978.50 six. It's going to be tight. Where are they going to put her? She

0:44:29 > 0:44:35is first! 78.60 five. Perrine Laffont will win France's first

0:44:35 > 0:44:42medal of the Winter Olympics. Last to ski in the women's moguls super

0:44:42 > 0:44:48final 2018, and Dean Audi, the 22-year-old Canadian. She is away.

0:44:48 > 0:44:53Just slightly slow start as she picked our line for the first few

0:44:53 > 0:44:57turns. She's really thrown it down, though. Full, twisting back

0:44:57 > 0:45:00somersault, struggling to regain control and she is straight lining,

0:45:00 > 0:45:07she is out and that means she will not win a medal and Perrine Laffont

0:45:07 > 0:45:12is the Olympic champion of 2018. France kick-start their Winter

0:45:12 > 0:45:18Olympics with gold in the women's moguls.

0:45:18 > 0:45:22Perrine Laffont's spectator teenage Blix did the trick ahead of

0:45:22 > 0:45:25Dufour-Lapointe, a first medal of the games will Kazakhstan as well as

0:45:25 > 0:45:28Yulia Galysheva took bronze and a surprise result in a sport which

0:45:28 > 0:45:31loves to flip things around.

0:45:36 > 0:45:42Al second teenage Olympic champion of the day. Felix Loch going last

0:45:42 > 0:45:46and Andi Naude going last, the pressure builds on you.It builds,

0:45:46 > 0:45:50you know the market you have to smash through and you have so much

0:45:50 > 0:45:54time to overthink and both of them struggled with that.Andi Naude

0:45:54 > 0:45:58looked like she got going too quick. Amy Williams was watching this

0:45:58 > 0:46:03earlier when we showed a life. She said, my knees hurt, just looking at

0:46:03 > 0:46:06it.I was saying the same thing. It's incredible, the amount of

0:46:06 > 0:46:10pressure that must go through their knees. I know Pat Sharples, the

0:46:10 > 0:46:14freestyle ski coach used to do the moguls and I always asked them, how

0:46:14 > 0:46:20are your knees? You said, not that great.Saw.It's great to watch,

0:46:20 > 0:46:26it's the combination of speed, but the judges' marks is important as

0:46:26 > 0:46:31well. You have to give it a bit with the jumps. It's not just technique,

0:46:31 > 0:46:36I love the tri- element and the judges have a difficult decision to

0:46:36 > 0:46:38make.It's stunning to watch.

0:46:38 > 0:46:41Let's turn our focus to figure skating and the Team Event.

0:46:41 > 0:46:44Ten countries vying to make it in to the top five and the chance

0:46:44 > 0:46:46to skate for the medals tomorrow.

0:46:46 > 0:46:48Today was the penultimate day of competition and it was

0:46:48 > 0:46:50in the women's singles that we were rewarded

0:46:50 > 0:46:52by a sparkling performance by Russia's Ice Princess,

0:46:52 > 0:46:55Evgenia Medvedeva.

0:48:46 > 0:48:54Very solid triple flip, triple to loop combination. -- toe loop

0:48:54 > 0:49:01combination.

0:49:04 > 0:49:08Lovely triple loop.

0:49:47 > 0:49:53CHEERING AND APPLAUSE

0:49:57 > 0:50:00Well, Robin, a brilliant penultimate's date's competition.

0:50:00 > 0:50:05When it comes to elegance on the ice, there's no beating her. She's

0:50:05 > 0:50:06really struggling to

0:50:06 > 0:50:07ice, there's no beating her. She's really struggling to come to terms

0:50:07 > 0:50:11with the fact she's not skating in her colours, not skating under her

0:50:11 > 0:50:15flag. She's finding it very emotional.She's using it within a

0:50:15 > 0:50:21performance and it elevated her today. -- she says she can skate

0:50:21 > 0:50:25better. It's exquisite, glorious to watch her. I find her quite elfin on

0:50:25 > 0:50:32the ice but it belies the power and mental energy to deliver those. She

0:50:32 > 0:50:37has been beaten for the first time in two years, can she set of the

0:50:37 > 0:50:44Olympic Trail by being first? Yes, she can, and in some style as well.

0:50:44 > 0:50:48I tell you what, my money is on Evgenia Medvedeva for the individual

0:50:48 > 0:50:53goal. It was the pairs that really brought it, the Italian power, they

0:50:53 > 0:50:56are in with a chance of a medal after that performance?They'd like

0:50:56 > 0:50:59to

0:50:59 > 0:51:01after that performance? They'd like to think so and I'm hoping they will

0:51:01 > 0:51:03think with that attitude, because it's only been three seasons that

0:51:03 > 0:51:06they've been together performing like this. Yes, they both come with

0:51:06 > 0:51:14the experience but I adore her and I love her, but she's feisty and she's

0:51:14 > 0:51:19a diva, but it will take a diva along with him to deliver another

0:51:19 > 0:51:23performance like they did today for the first time they will be a medal

0:51:23 > 0:51:27mix which they probably didn't think they before. They were probably

0:51:27 > 0:51:31hoping for top five, but who knows, if they can skate like that in the

0:51:31 > 0:51:35short programme and the long programme, gain-macro, it's up for

0:51:35 > 0:51:41grabs.The Canadians came out on top, Meagan Duhamel and Eric

0:51:41 > 0:51:44Radford, a brilliant skate from them. They give the Canadians are

0:51:44 > 0:51:516-point lead going into the final date's competition tomorrow. USA and

0:51:51 > 0:51:55bronze, the Italians one point behind, it will be really tense as

0:51:55 > 0:51:58we get the medals fought out tomorrow. It's the most beautiful

0:51:58 > 0:52:03competition.

0:52:03 > 0:52:05If you want to see extended highlights of the team event,

0:52:05 > 0:52:07please tune into BBC Four for Olympics Extra

0:52:07 > 0:52:08in about 10 minutes.

0:52:08 > 0:52:10The conclusion of the figure skating team event starts

0:52:10 > 0:52:11at 1am tomorrow morning.

0:52:11 > 0:52:13Skating of a different kind now.

0:52:13 > 0:52:14This time, it's against the clock.

0:52:14 > 0:52:17As dominant as the Germans have been in the luge,

0:52:17 > 0:52:18it's their neighbours the Netherlands who own

0:52:18 > 0:52:19the speed skating oval.

0:52:19 > 0:52:21"Eat, sleep, skate, repeat" is the mantra

0:52:21 > 0:52:27of their star Sven Kramer.

0:52:27 > 0:52:34The men's 5000 speed skating has long been Kramer versus Kramer. The

0:52:34 > 0:52:38only question has been whether he can better his own time. Two golds

0:52:38 > 0:52:45in this event and us two Games, he had to donate -- be the Canadian's

0:52:45 > 0:52:51time to win a third. We join the flying Dutchman with two laps to go,

0:52:51 > 0:52:56sit back and enjoyed a dash of orange on ice.

0:52:56 > 0:52:59COMMENTATOR: All eyes on the Dutch man, nearly

0:52:59 > 0:53:03two seconds quicker than the previous fastest time and he's

0:53:03 > 0:53:10skating towards the Olympic title here. The all-time great, Sven

0:53:10 > 0:53:15Kramer of the Netherlands, will take the Bell this time here, just over

0:53:15 > 0:53:20400 to go in this 5000 metre final and that blue line I don't think is

0:53:20 > 0:53:29going to catch him any time soon. It's 1.88 seconds and Ted Bloomer

0:53:29 > 0:53:34had a fantastic last lap, soap Kramer has took really dig deep.

0:53:34 > 0:53:38Kramer has to really go for it on this last lap to make sure he can

0:53:38 > 0:53:41take the Olympic title for the third time in a row. It was a tremendous

0:53:41 > 0:53:53last lap sprint. Here now comes Sven Kramer, up towards the line, the

0:53:53 > 0:54:00Olympic record has gone. For the fourth time in his career, Sven

0:54:00 > 0:54:06Kramer is an Olympic champion. They are

0:54:06 > 0:54:09Kramer is an Olympic champion. They are so good at that. Let's

0:54:09 > 0:54:14round up some stories from day two with Paddy again.

0:54:14 > 0:54:23A wild night on the biathlon course is blue in a surprise, German, 34th

0:54:23 > 0:54:28in Sochi, power and position and it was an amazing goal. Plenty of rocks

0:54:28 > 0:54:33over the puck to open the Olympics for the US women's ice hockey team,

0:54:33 > 0:54:35silver medallists Law years ago they recovered

0:54:35 > 0:54:36silver medallists Law years ago they recovered from the bruises and being

0:54:36 > 0:54:43a goal down to beat Finland 3-1. Icy tension on every stone of Norway V

0:54:43 > 0:54:47China in the mixed doubles curling. Both trying to screw up a path to

0:54:47 > 0:54:52the semis. Level in the round robin, Norway won this tie-break.

0:54:52 > 0:54:56Heartbreak for China. Curling can be cruel.

0:54:56 > 0:55:01Let's have a look at the medal table with all the events of day two

0:55:01 > 0:55:04finished. Out in front we find Germany, I believe. Let's have a

0:55:04 > 0:55:08look. I think they have three gold medals so far. The Netherlands are

0:55:08 > 0:55:14doing well. They've had the one, two, three, Norway with their first

0:55:14 > 0:55:28and the USA, courtesy of Red. Let's go off piste.

0:55:28 > 0:55:35This was posted on social media earlier. I used to love the 18, Mr

0:55:35 > 0:55:41T, into curling, I'm really pumped watching they Winter Olympics, I'm

0:55:41 > 0:55:48watching events I never thought I'd watch before. Look at this, a catch

0:55:48 > 0:55:54watching the short track speed skating.Riveted. This one.Mainly

0:55:54 > 0:55:59its get children we get sent doing daft things but I think it's an

0:55:59 > 0:56:04eagle.Eddie is making a comeback. A carpenter. Why Bob and he is, guess.

0:56:04 > 0:56:11He's made his own skis. Look at this from Julie, on Twitter. This is

0:56:11 > 0:56:17cute.It will inspire the next generation! That's watching Felix

0:56:17 > 0:56:22Loch.She gets back up, keeps going, she's got perseverance, and Felix

0:56:22 > 0:56:36Loch is on track.That's the worry. Let's look at this.

0:56:36 > 0:56:42Let's look at this. These are our selections for red hot ice cold.

0:56:42 > 0:56:45Luge is a tough sport, but its even tougher when you're

0:56:45 > 0:56:47flying along at 80mph without a visor on.

0:56:47 > 0:56:49Poland's Mateu Sochowicz is street tough, no tears here.

0:56:49 > 0:56:50It doesn't get much better than this.

0:56:50 > 0:56:58This is pure Blades Of Glory.

0:57:00 > 0:57:04Canada leading in the team competition.

0:57:04 > 0:57:07It doesn't matter what sport you're watching, everyone always says

0:57:07 > 0:57:08the ref has lost his marbles.

0:57:08 > 0:57:12Well, here's the proof.

0:57:12 > 0:57:15Brilliant.

0:57:15 > 0:57:17And finally, here's some classic understated celebrating

0:57:17 > 0:57:19from our Amercian cousins after they won their first

0:57:19 > 0:57:21ever medal in the luge.

0:57:21 > 0:57:27USA, USA!

0:57:27 > 0:57:32Tomorrow, so much to look forward to. Mikaela Shiffrin starts her

0:57:32 > 0:57:38Olympic campaign in the women's GS. We'll be live for her second run at

0:57:38 > 0:57:47about 4:45pm, Radzi on-air at 12:10pm. Mikaela Shiffrin is

0:57:47 > 0:57:51something else, women's ski jumping only came into the Games four years

0:57:51 > 0:57:55ago. We ought to mention in the women's giant slalom Alex Tilley for

0:57:55 > 0:58:00Great Britain. On top form, she's had a PB this season, she does have

0:58:00 > 0:58:07to challenge Mikaela Shiffrin and others. Worley is in good form,

0:58:07 > 0:58:10she's world champ, but Mikaela Shiffrin needs a bit of luck, but

0:58:10 > 0:58:15she's not a big fan of luck. Her quoted look looks like a lot like

0:58:15 > 0:58:20hard work, but in disguise. Sometimes it can just be look. We'll

0:58:20 > 0:58:25see you tomorrow at 7pm, when we'll have the women's slopestyle. Mike

0:58:25 > 0:58:34night. -- good night.

0:58:38 > 0:58:45Absolutely amazing. It's beautiful.

0:58:50 > 0:58:58Well, you've got to say she looks absolutely amazing on a snowboard.

0:59:01 > 0:59:03That's why she's constantly topping podiums around the
