0:00:24 > 0:00:29Afternoon and welcome to coverage on BBC two, Day ten of the winter

0:00:29 > 0:00:35Olympics in Pyeongchang. If you were watching the curling on BBC One the

0:00:35 > 0:00:41eighth end is under way. Let's catch up with the only other action this

0:00:41 > 0:00:50morning, the two man bobsleigh, captained by Brad Hall with Joel

0:00:50 > 0:00:54Fearon on board. We will see their fourth and final run and we will see

0:00:54 > 0:00:58the medals being decided. For now let's head straight back to the

0:00:58 > 0:01:04Curling Centre, Great Britain's women need to win this game against

0:01:04 > 0:01:09Switzerland's otherwise it will be too tense for all of us. Jackie

0:01:09 > 0:01:15Lockhart

0:01:15 > 0:01:21COMMENTATOR: thank you. Our nerves have been frayed a fair bit already.

0:01:21 > 0:01:30Close matches all the way through. While you were away for eight few

0:01:30 > 0:01:35moments, things switched around in this way, Micky Adams played a great

0:01:35 > 0:01:42shot, we had a red tucked in behind the yellow came close on that. The

0:01:42 > 0:01:50second shot sprung the British red, I see one left on the left, still

0:01:50 > 0:01:53trying to build this opportunity, using the guard out there.

0:02:04 > 0:02:10Esther Neuenschwander starting to be a bit suspect, this is that Mike

0:02:10 > 0:02:18Skipper has rescued the situation. Another chance for Anna Sloan. Still

0:02:18 > 0:02:24out there, the yellow one. This is a shot Vicki Adams played with her

0:02:24 > 0:02:31first stone very well.

0:02:32 > 0:02:34first stone very well. Still a chance here. Need a good shot here.

0:02:34 > 0:02:38Need a good shot here.

0:02:38 > 0:02:42Got a couple of options, you hear the girls saying, the other way.

0:02:42 > 0:02:49Good that they are looking at both options. Just got it on the nose.

0:02:49 > 0:02:56Still high. If Switzerland's head that they really need a road to get

0:02:56 > 0:03:00in the house and if they don't get in the house for counting red

0:03:00 > 0:03:04Britain could come round behind the centre or the corner. Depending

0:03:04 > 0:03:06where the Swiss stone finishes.

0:03:06 > 0:03:10Depending where the Swiss stone finishes.

0:03:10 > 0:03:17Keep updating you with the match is going on elsewhere, 6-4, in the

0:03:17 > 0:03:21Denmark match, not affecting the table too much, Sweden and Japan

0:03:21 > 0:03:26hardly scoring at all.

0:03:27 > 0:03:29hardly scoring at all. The USA waiting to close out their match

0:03:29 > 0:03:35against China. They had a time out, China, I was wondering what on earth

0:03:35 > 0:03:40they were saying, so little left. Jackie, though on.I hate to say

0:03:40 > 0:03:49this, China had another issue with the stones. And the ice technician

0:03:49 > 0:03:53came out with his Allen key, that famous Alan Kay, we have seen many

0:03:53 > 0:03:57times this week, I don't know what happened, I was trying to

0:03:57 > 0:04:01concentrate on our game but I saw there was a situation and the umpire

0:04:01 > 0:04:05was there. I'm guessing the ladies out here have to be careful to keep

0:04:05 > 0:04:10an eye on the stones to make sure they are working and activated

0:04:10 > 0:04:15before you play them, tilt the stone up as she played it, that activates

0:04:15 > 0:04:24it.Not in there. Did not get the roll in.Great opportunity for us to

0:04:24 > 0:04:29pull one in, right into the middle. Keeping it in the top four, don't

0:04:29 > 0:04:36slip behind, girls.Eve Muirhead has been an excellent form. She just

0:04:36 > 0:04:42needs to draw a little better, one or two of the drawers have not been

0:04:42 > 0:04:49top-notch although most of her shotmaking has been. Trying to pull

0:04:49 > 0:04:56her team through this match. Eve Muirhead. With her drawer to try and

0:04:56 > 0:05:02come in with a bit of protection. See if she can tempt Silvana

0:05:02 > 0:05:09Tirinzoni.We want to get two here. We want to try and get cover, we see

0:05:09 > 0:05:14Lauren trying to sweep this as hard as she can. A little bit more.

0:05:14 > 0:05:23That's lovely.Just covering the other side. Well done, sweeping and

0:05:23 > 0:05:30Eve Muirhead.

0:05:30 > 0:05:37She's looking to play the front yellow back.

0:05:41 > 0:05:50One more stone for Switzerland's. Great Britain wouldn't really want,

0:05:50 > 0:05:54necessarily, to take one, what do you think about blanking it, if she

0:05:54 > 0:06:01ends up cleaning these two?Yes, I guess she would. She doesn't want a

0:06:01 > 0:06:06one, she wants two.

0:06:06 > 0:06:09one, she wants two. It Silvana Tirinzoni cactuses, the trouble is

0:06:09 > 0:06:17if she gets it right, she will be in a yellow card. -- yellow card. If

0:06:17 > 0:06:24she takes them all out, nothing in the house.

0:06:25 > 0:06:32the house.She hasn't come down with too much weight here.She has played

0:06:32 > 0:06:36very well, not a lot of call, is it right? She's got it.

0:06:36 > 0:06:42CHEERING Eve could still blank verse. She

0:06:42 > 0:06:47could still take this out. Coming to have a look and a discussion about

0:06:47 > 0:06:52what to do. She has the option of taking one or trying to blank the

0:06:52 > 0:06:57end and if she blanks the end, they take the hammer into the ninth, it

0:06:57 > 0:07:00will of course mean that Switzerland's will have the hammer

0:07:00 > 0:07:10into the tent.

0:07:10 > 0:07:15into the tent. -- into the tenth. She's saying... A big decision here.

0:07:15 > 0:07:19That is what evil is saying, will I take one but if I take that she is

0:07:19 > 0:07:31going to try and force them... Who has got the hammer? But on the other

0:07:31 > 0:07:36hand what she was saying, she was also saying if we blank it she will

0:07:36 > 0:07:42try and force one, it might enable us to get two.I think first and

0:07:42 > 0:07:44foremost, in the normal situation you would say let's like it, take

0:07:44 > 0:07:51the hammer into the ninth, hopefully the girls can try and get two in the

0:07:51 > 0:07:59ninth end and be one up. Or they have got the opportunity to blanket.

0:07:59 > 0:08:06She is going to try and force one. In the ninth. And then trust herself

0:08:06 > 0:08:15to get two in the tenth because obviously, if they do get two in

0:08:15 > 0:08:18obviously, if they do get two in the ninth, it's getting hard, isn't it?

0:08:18 > 0:08:26Anyway, after eight, it's 6-5, the point to remember is Great Britain,

0:08:26 > 0:08:31if it's all tied, if we don't get it across the line in the tenth and it

0:08:31 > 0:08:39ends up I two to Switzerland's and one to great written, we forced the

0:08:39 > 0:08:46one, we are all tied up at ten, we go into an extra end if it stays,

0:08:46 > 0:08:48the scoring with the hammer stays this way. Switzerland's would have

0:08:48 > 0:08:56the hammer in the extra end. I and still reasonably happy, I think you

0:08:56 > 0:09:00keep your nose in front, make them make the shots, the play.

0:09:09 > 0:09:22Ivo is backing herself to get two. Any

0:09:22 > 0:09:29Any time... I am looking at the scoreboard as well! Have we got this

0:09:29 > 0:09:39wrong?Did you not think she...No. Sorry, Jackie! LAUGHTER I wondered

0:09:39 > 0:09:46why you were looking puzzled at me. They did take one.Honestly, I don't

0:09:46 > 0:09:50think I am concentrating, I thought she was going to blank the end.We

0:09:50 > 0:09:53were talking about if she blanked the end for the options were. She

0:09:53 > 0:10:07took the one. And as I was trying to explain, if it goes with the two

0:10:07 > 0:10:12explain, if it goes with the two and two...I apologise, it is late at

0:10:12 > 0:10:16night here, it is early in the morning back at home!I tell you

0:10:16 > 0:10:24what we will do, there are economics students and a banker on the Swiss

0:10:24 > 0:10:27team, with a bit of luck they have got this sorted and they know what

0:10:27 > 0:10:30they have to do.

0:10:40 > 0:10:46It's finished between the USA and China, 10-4. They shook hands after

0:10:46 > 0:10:53the eighth. That will put the USA on four wins. That is what Great

0:10:53 > 0:10:57Britain are trying to get, four wins and three losses, sadly from a

0:10:57 > 0:11:01British perspective if we end up on the same record as the USA they beat

0:11:01 > 0:11:06us earlier in the week and to break ties and ranking, you cannot go out

0:11:06 > 0:11:11if you are tied for fourth, it will go to a tie-break match if there are

0:11:11 > 0:11:15two teams tied for fourth. For instance, fourth and fifth place

0:11:15 > 0:11:19with the same record, if it's a case of breaking a tie when there are

0:11:19 > 0:11:27more than one team with a same record, the decision in the

0:11:27 > 0:11:32round-robin goes in the favour of the team, let's say it was 5-4 to

0:11:32 > 0:11:35the USA and there was another team involved, the USA would be ranked

0:11:35 > 0:11:42higher than Great Britain.

0:11:43 > 0:11:47It's all come to cater, anyway. Hopefully it won't come to that!

0:11:47 > 0:11:52What Switzerland's are doing... Everyone is being a little bit... A

0:11:52 > 0:11:59bit cagey. I just remembered the words of Glenn Howard at half time

0:11:59 > 0:12:05saying to the British team, just don't go too long with those guards,

0:12:05 > 0:12:13that is ringing in their ears. Four stones. And only now can they be

0:12:13 > 0:12:23removed. If Eve wants them to be. Going to try and come round here.

0:12:23 > 0:12:27There isn't a lot of space between the stones. But get one in. Down the

0:12:27 > 0:12:34centre.

0:12:34 > 0:12:43This is very, very close. Going to tap it in.

0:12:49 > 0:12:58I love the expressions of Vicki Adams, the same way that the

0:12:58 > 0:13:05expression of Anna comes...Kind of exasperated. They did not want to

0:13:05 > 0:13:09push that too far back into the open, they were trying to keep it

0:13:09 > 0:13:18tight. Top half of the house.

0:13:27 > 0:13:35After the China USA match, a nice little play on that stone, knocking

0:13:35 > 0:13:39the British stone further back into the house, after the China USA match

0:13:39 > 0:13:43we did not have a full house but we have lost about half of what we had

0:13:43 > 0:13:49and this is as empty as I have seen the arena during round-robin. It's

0:13:49 > 0:13:56gone a little quiet in here, the British women need to keep their

0:13:56 > 0:14:00concentration, you can hear every single word, everyone in the arena

0:14:00 > 0:14:08can hear the guys. I think the other teams are turning and listening.

0:14:08 > 0:14:20What did she say? What did she say? OK, so were not going to go and

0:14:20 > 0:14:24chase the yellow at the moment, we are going to try and tap up the red

0:14:24 > 0:14:32at the front into the forefoot. It's almost playing the short that she

0:14:32 > 0:14:37inadvertently played last time.

0:14:47 > 0:14:53Really just about the angle she hates this on.A little bit of a

0:14:53 > 0:15:00chance. Eve wants to sweep the same, get this in just a little bit more.

0:15:00 > 0:15:08Take a little bit of weight of that, she had too much on the first one.

0:15:08 > 0:15:13We have got two counters in there. It could be useful. A lot of stones

0:15:13 > 0:15:16out front which should be to our advantage if we were to try and

0:15:16 > 0:15:23steal but we have to get in. This won't be the end that Switzerland's

0:15:23 > 0:15:27like because they know there's lots of stones out there. At the

0:15:27 > 0:15:38forefoot.They are looking at the best ones.

0:15:38 > 0:15:47To raise in or tap up. She is looking a little nonplussed at the

0:15:47 > 0:15:54moment, Tirinzoni. Plenty of stones left to play. She is trying to think

0:15:54 > 0:16:01ahead, what could happen.

0:16:01 > 0:16:07I'm trying to think where we are on the time-out situation. We haven't

0:16:07 > 0:16:12had a time-out, have we?No, I don't think we have had a time out.Nor

0:16:12 > 0:16:21has Switzerland. Each team are allowed one. He's telling us what he

0:16:21 > 0:16:28thinks but they can't see that. They want to create a two. They have to

0:16:28 > 0:16:38clear up that front area. She has to make sure she has a guarantee. She

0:16:38 > 0:16:45wants to score here, that's for sure.

0:16:46 > 0:16:53sure.It is still Siegrist to play, who is playing second tier. This is

0:16:53 > 0:17:00now coming down to almost every stone being crucial for both teams.

0:17:00 > 0:17:05A must win for Britain, but if it can be, even more of a must win... I

0:17:05 > 0:17:10say Mass went because Britain's last three matches have been so tough,

0:17:10 > 0:17:17Canada last one. This one against Switzerland. No easy games coming

0:17:17 > 0:17:23up, I suppose there are no easy games at this stage of the

0:17:23 > 0:17:31competition. This is well out there. Is it heavy? It might pull up, but

0:17:31 > 0:17:40I'm not sure by how much.Helping it on its way. A bit of a wasted stone

0:17:40 > 0:17:46there.

0:17:46 > 0:17:49there.Switzerland, we have got second and third.Sorry, I was

0:17:49 > 0:17:53trying to work it out.She was trying to come into the four foot.

0:17:53 > 0:18:00Playing a really dangerous game when she'd got last stone here. There's a

0:18:00 > 0:18:06wall of stones at the front. If we can get in behind first.Amat is

0:18:06 > 0:18:14trying to make a better attempt than that that we just saw. -- Anna.As

0:18:14 > 0:18:20to make sure it is past the guard.I don't think it is, I don't think it

0:18:20 > 0:18:27was ever out far enough, never. You could argue we have just had two

0:18:27 > 0:18:30stones that haven't changed things too much, although the Swiss one is

0:18:30 > 0:18:38in the house. It's not, it's Paul Stone at the moment, Britain lying

0:18:38 > 0:18:46two and three. She has asked, have another go. This is Neuenschwander.

0:18:46 > 0:18:50She will want this to finish on the eight foot, the white part of the

0:18:50 > 0:18:54circle, but she won't want it to go too far back. This might have split

0:18:54 > 0:18:59the difference between those two previous shots. It looks a bit

0:18:59 > 0:19:08better. One to help it on its way. Just gets enough.

0:19:09 > 0:19:19Just gets enough. So Switzerland to lying two shots at the moment.Eve

0:19:19 > 0:19:30wants to follow it in. Anna needs to make the correction from that first

0:19:30 > 0:19:39stone. I don't think she likes it out there.

0:19:39 > 0:19:49I guess even if you touch this, or this...OK.That's good. The one

0:19:49 > 0:19:54Switzerland just played is tucked in right behind. Anna wouldn't be able

0:19:54 > 0:20:00to see anything of it, especially as a left-handed player, setting on the

0:20:00 > 0:20:05right-hand hack. This is probably a better choice here.Vicky said we

0:20:05 > 0:20:11know what the ice stars here. Going to come down and trying to up one of

0:20:11 > 0:20:16those front reds, on the right-hand side as we look at it down the ice

0:20:16 > 0:20:24from Ana's point of view. Needs to turn quite a lot here.Has she got

0:20:24 > 0:20:32enough of it, though?

0:20:32 > 0:20:39enough of it, though? Well swept, girls!Well swept, just on there,

0:20:39 > 0:20:43counting shot. Well done from Anna Sloan. All that does is changes the

0:20:43 > 0:20:49dynamic of what Tirinzoni can ask Neuenschwander to do because Great

0:20:49 > 0:20:58Britain have one in there. Not by much.

0:20:58 > 0:21:02much. As you said, although stones out front now, she's looking to see

0:21:02 > 0:21:08which one she wants to use or to clear a path. She probably should

0:21:08 > 0:21:13have done it earlier but we have one in there.Only three stones left, if

0:21:13 > 0:21:20she wants to score two... This one has to be really effective. She has

0:21:20 > 0:21:25stones to use in the house. Britain have also got three in their hanging

0:21:25 > 0:21:33around. That one just at the top of the four foot line, only just.I

0:21:33 > 0:21:37think she has to look at the shot which is the most dangerous, and

0:21:37 > 0:21:44that is the red at the top, just to the left hand side of the

0:21:44 > 0:21:52centreline. Because if she goes for yellow and she doesn't make it,

0:21:52 > 0:21:55she's still left unguarded. I think she has to go for the one, if she

0:21:55 > 0:22:01doesn't make it, she probably clears it a little in the middle. Now, were

0:22:01 > 0:22:08they also looking at the shimmy, where they can get two of them in

0:22:08 > 0:22:14the middle of these two reds? Do a jingle between them and write

0:22:14 > 0:22:21in? A strange word, shimmy! If only the viewers could see what you are

0:22:21 > 0:22:31doing! Let's see.Catch two of the man...Straight through, straight

0:22:31 > 0:22:35through.My goodness, I never thought I could happen!Hands-on

0:22:35 > 0:22:41head for Switzerland.

0:22:41 > 0:22:43head for Switzerland. Neuenschwander just clips the tiniest, just look at

0:22:43 > 0:22:48that, just gave it enough, completely missed the British stone.

0:22:48 > 0:22:51Trying to hit that first red. Well, well, well stop

0:22:55 > 0:23:04.You could try that -- you couldn't do that if you tried!Neuenschwander

0:23:04 > 0:23:09sliding straight through the house, through the gap. Like you said, if

0:23:09 > 0:23:14you wanted to do it, you couldn't. There comes a smile from the

0:23:14 > 0:23:19Tirinzoni. It's not over yet for them, but it just makes her job more

0:23:19 > 0:23:26difficult to stop she has two stones left. So has Eve Muirhead. So, we're

0:23:26 > 0:23:34just going to try and block route in, put another guard up. Just right

0:23:34 > 0:23:41on the centreline is what we're looking for.Exactly, because

0:23:41 > 0:23:45they've got the one played by Neuenschwander, Eve Muirhead has

0:23:45 > 0:23:48gone OK, fair enough, let's block that off, which she has done

0:23:48 > 0:23:53perfectly well. And even more stones out in front now. She has to pick

0:23:53 > 0:23:57something here to move. She desperately needs to try and get

0:23:57 > 0:24:04two. Great Britain, a lying shot. Which one does she choose question

0:24:04 > 0:24:11what she can't get brand anything there to get into the four foot.

0:24:11 > 0:24:15She's looking at moving the centre reds if she can. She wasn't

0:24:15 > 0:24:20initially looking at a yellow, but there is an opportunity for her to

0:24:20 > 0:24:23promote her own yellow into the house. I think she would probably

0:24:23 > 0:24:29want to leave that with her last. Should she clear up the front, Eve

0:24:29 > 0:24:34can't cover both, the centre and the rays on the yellow. It depends what

0:24:34 > 0:24:38she does with this stone here. That is key for her, what she needs to be

0:24:38 > 0:24:42able to do. She has called a time-out. With her last stone, a

0:24:42 > 0:24:47move that out the way. She wants to have a clear or some sort of run at

0:24:47 > 0:24:57it. Here comes Gerry Adam to have a look. Taking his time whilst he is

0:24:57 > 0:25:01walking, to give them more time to think about it. Once he arrives, the

0:25:01 > 0:25:08Time out starts. He gets 45 seconds to get to the head and then gets a

0:25:08 > 0:25:19one minute to speak to the girls. The match between Japan and Sweden,

0:25:19 > 0:25:23incidentally, is a cracking match. Probably one of those that might

0:25:23 > 0:25:26have gone match of the day at the end as a bore draw but it is an

0:25:26 > 0:25:35important match for all. Looks pretty natural... It is either

0:25:35 > 0:25:43play red, yellow and that one or yellow...In an attempt end Sweden

0:25:43 > 0:25:48with the hammer, Sweden with a five and one record. So that is the shot

0:25:48 > 0:25:52she is going to try. Risky.

0:25:57 > 0:26:06She's only got one opportunity at this. Reds at the front there. I

0:26:06 > 0:26:11guess this is the old risk versus reward, go for it just now, if you

0:26:11 > 0:26:19get this right, Great Britain are lying three against the few. Push

0:26:19 > 0:26:23the red through. If you don't, we could have an opportunity to steal a

0:26:23 > 0:26:27one and go two up without the hammer.Big shot here for Tirinzoni.

0:26:27 > 0:26:36A lot of pressure on the Swiss skip. She has played some great shots. One

0:26:36 > 0:26:44or two really nice take outs. That is thin. Just catches it, doesn't

0:26:44 > 0:26:50sit, though. She has improved the situation, definitely improved the

0:26:50 > 0:26:54situation. Where does Eve put this question much you could take one

0:26:54 > 0:26:59away and then only get two. That is the best option. The yellow is wide

0:26:59 > 0:27:07open.Nearly missed altogether.Hit the yellow and roll into the four

0:27:07 > 0:27:12foot, behind all the red guards again.I don't know what they're

0:27:12 > 0:27:18laughing at. She did catch it so thin. Not quite sure... They've just

0:27:18 > 0:27:22asked them to move that stone that was still out there. What she did do

0:27:22 > 0:27:30was clear a path into Eve down the side. So Eve Muirhead can remove

0:27:30 > 0:27:38this stone, and that means at best, at best, Sweden will get two and

0:27:38 > 0:27:44will lead by one. Great Britain will have the hammer on the final end.

0:27:51 > 0:27:59Oooh... That was a shame. Just over ran it.Doesn't affect things too

0:27:59 > 0:28:06much. There is no way she can take both of those stones. Great Britain

0:28:06 > 0:28:14second and third stone. There is not a lot of room to draw in there so

0:28:14 > 0:28:20she has chosen to hit this. Hitting it on the nose would be good enough.

0:28:20 > 0:28:24She needs to catch the inside edge. You can see, the red stone at the

0:28:24 > 0:28:29top of the eight but the Great Britain is half in and half out of

0:28:29 > 0:28:35the eight foot and the 12 foot. So a hit and roll required here if she

0:28:35 > 0:28:42wants to pick up a two, otherwise Switzerland will only get a wonder.

0:28:42 > 0:28:50Either way -- only get a one. This is still a match Great Britain can

0:28:50 > 0:28:56win here. Where is this going to stop? Just catches it on the nose.

0:28:56 > 0:29:02Just enough of a roll and gets two. Switzerland keeping this match very

0:29:02 > 0:29:09much in the balance. They know Gow into the lead. It has been a seesaw

0:29:09 > 0:29:14scoring match between these two. Both playing well, particular reader

0:29:14 > 0:29:21two Skips. It is Switzerland who now have the slim advantage, 7-6 as we

0:29:21 > 0:29:27move into the tenth and final end, unless it is tied, and then we would

0:29:27 > 0:29:36move to an extra end. Great Britain, you would say one is not good enough

0:29:36 > 0:29:39here. In a sense it would keep the advantage with Switzerland into that

0:29:39 > 0:29:47extra end. They want to win it here, get your two.

0:29:47 > 0:29:52get your two. A bit unfortunate. If Eve's shot had done something

0:29:52 > 0:29:59similar there, it would have had a greatchance. She played a really

0:29:59 > 0:30:03good rays with her yellow. We had another opportunity to get it

0:30:03 > 0:30:11rolling, just didn't get it going. It is all to play for. Great Britain

0:30:11 > 0:30:18in a real tussle. It is also 7-7 in the match between Denmark and OAR

0:30:18 > 0:30:24and 4-4 between Japan and Sweden. We would like Sweden to win that match,

0:30:24 > 0:30:30they have the hammer in the final end. Sweden, five wins, we expect

0:30:30 > 0:30:34them to go on and secure their place in the semifinal. A win for them

0:30:34 > 0:30:39would keep Japan in the mix mid-table, four wins an four losses.

0:30:39 > 0:30:45If Britain win this, that is the record they would have. So a Swedish

0:30:45 > 0:30:50victory there would be in favour of Team GB.

0:31:01 > 0:31:09Lauren Gray with the corner guard called here. This is all very

0:31:09 > 0:31:14exciting, Jackie, but I wouldn't have minded the odd 8-4, 10-3, walk

0:31:14 > 0:31:20off early.Every game the girls have played has been very close. And the

0:31:20 > 0:31:31guys. The guys. The talent out here is extremely high.

0:31:41 > 0:31:50Switzerland trying to come down, come in behind their. The high

0:31:50 > 0:31:55yellow.

0:31:55 > 0:31:59It's about as good as she's ever managed to do actually, to get them

0:31:59 > 0:32:11lined up.What a time to do it, in the last end!Yes.We can't touch

0:32:11 > 0:32:17that centre yellow outfront because it is in the free guards own but we

0:32:17 > 0:32:22can try and catch the one in the house and push it back and get a

0:32:22 > 0:32:27little bit of a roll. She won't be able to see much of it, so she has

0:32:27 > 0:32:33to play a delicate, controlled weight down here. Playing clockwise

0:32:33 > 0:32:43rotation of the stone.Eve is asking, where is it going?

0:32:44 > 0:32:47They really need to connect with the stone, Vicki Adams is trying to help

0:32:47 > 0:32:56this. Going to catch some of it. Well swept. Well swept, Laurent was

0:32:56 > 0:33:03a little concerned when she let that go.

0:33:17 > 0:33:20Lauren I contrast with Van, known by her facial expressions. Vicki Adams

0:33:20 > 0:33:27never gives anything away. -- by contrast with Anne.

0:33:34 > 0:33:42Manuela Siegrist playing second in, quietly gone about her business.

0:33:42 > 0:33:49Going to tap that in a little bit more. She is not too pleased with

0:33:49 > 0:33:54that.

0:33:55 > 0:33:58that. Getting quieter and quieter in the arena. As other matches have

0:33:58 > 0:34:04even completed.

0:34:06 > 0:34:13The British bands behind the far end. -- the British fans. A clutch

0:34:13 > 0:34:19of supporters.

0:34:20 > 0:34:29It's a nice shot, that, well played. Level. They did not want to knows

0:34:29 > 0:34:35that, the other red.She was saying exactly what I thought, she had

0:34:35 > 0:34:44overcooked it, as she put it there. The first part of the job in this

0:34:44 > 0:34:51end, working out, Manuela Siegrist, next to go. Her second stone.

0:35:02 > 0:35:07Jackie, almost holding our breath with every shot.Defensive stop she

0:35:07 > 0:35:10wanted to try and get onto the top of that there are, I did wonder if

0:35:10 > 0:35:16she would try and hit some of the Reds, the last thing she wanted to

0:35:16 > 0:35:23do was lose two. We have two in the house.Time out. I think what is

0:35:23 > 0:35:27happening here, Eve is saying we have a good situation, I want to

0:35:27 > 0:35:32make sure we make the right decision about where we put the stones, the

0:35:32 > 0:35:40chance of a two, you come to this, almost halfway through, we have five

0:35:40 > 0:35:48stones, they have four. Let's hear what Glenn Howard has to say.

0:35:48 > 0:35:55what Glenn Howard has to say.Can we get a third shot?I think so. You

0:35:55 > 0:36:01could rip the guard, it's not going to be pretty. We got five to come.

0:36:01 > 0:36:05We could come and stuff it on top. On top of the red? I like that

0:36:05 > 0:36:10better.

0:36:12 > 0:36:17better.If we stuff that, she has to run at.She locks it on top, then we

0:36:17 > 0:36:26have to do a little top stuff. Stuff it on top, she runs at.Alongside

0:36:26 > 0:36:32that back one.

0:36:32 > 0:36:37that back one.Eve had a good one down here before.That's going to

0:36:37 > 0:36:43hurt us. If she makes that...There is a bit of stuffing going to go on

0:36:43 > 0:36:52here.That's another word for it, stuffing, said it on top of the red.

0:36:52 > 0:36:59There was an opportunity to take the centre of. That could be a danger to

0:36:59 > 0:37:04you but he did say, you have got to run the whole end, ensuring you have

0:37:04 > 0:37:09two always in the house. This is a really clever call from Glenn

0:37:09 > 0:37:14Howard.But is what he is therefore, to give them the right strategy.

0:37:14 > 0:37:21It's not about, they then have to be relied upon to deliver the shop is

0:37:21 > 0:37:25but he's trying to get them to think ahead, think three, four, five

0:37:25 > 0:37:31stones ahead.Stone placement is key, to get past the guard and she

0:37:31 > 0:37:37has to be on top of that. It's curling locks, an awful lot.Is she

0:37:37 > 0:37:52passed? Just passed, well swept! That was a super sweep by Team GB.

0:37:52 > 0:38:00Every shot that we make, in that way, makes it more difficult for

0:38:00 > 0:38:04Switzerland, not just because the situation in the game. But as this

0:38:04 > 0:38:10pressure ramps up, noisy shops, don't give any easy shots away, they

0:38:10 > 0:38:13made a mistake running right through, trying to capitalise on

0:38:13 > 0:38:21that.We are sitting on the bottom, one high, on the forefoot, that is

0:38:21 > 0:38:27the area you want to protect. Going to catch the guard... Going to catch

0:38:27 > 0:38:34the guard.

0:38:34 > 0:38:36the guard. Switzerland, at the moment, not in a very good position.

0:38:36 > 0:38:42No, and Eve is going to try and make it a little bit worse, she will

0:38:42 > 0:38:45happily use that, use what she was trying to do. Rohler cross and head

0:38:45 > 0:38:52out right one and sit in front of the two red stones, if she can. A

0:38:52 > 0:38:58bit more protection upfront. Try to catch this on the right side. A bit

0:38:58 > 0:39:08like that. Not quite what you wanted.Plan B, that will do fine!

0:39:14 > 0:39:20Switzerland going to run the red into the red pack in the house, try

0:39:20 > 0:39:27and move several of them. She needs to try and create a way in here for

0:39:27 > 0:39:31herself because at the moment, she is in trouble. She could get there

0:39:31 > 0:39:35is absolutely right and Britain might still be left with one in here

0:39:35 > 0:39:41but if she doesn't, that looks really... She has done well, they

0:39:41 > 0:39:54still have three. Partial result, partial result, no better. Eve is

0:39:54 > 0:40:00now happy to take this brand guard away. When you are hitting stones

0:40:00 > 0:40:03like that, to get everything going the way you want it to, absolutely

0:40:03 > 0:40:09perfect. That situation was one they had to do something.

0:40:16 > 0:40:22Didn't want to hit her stones there, Great Britain lying one, two and

0:40:22 > 0:40:26three. She's going to move some more here, going to try and come in and

0:40:26 > 0:40:32freeze on that back one.She is trying to work out which way to do

0:40:32 > 0:40:38it.She has two make it difficult for Great Britain to get more than

0:40:38 > 0:40:46one, two here.She's Guptill emit them to one.That might be 40 men.

0:40:46 > 0:40:56Yes, sorry, she is trying to freeze one in there.

0:40:56 > 0:41:08-- she's lot to limit them to one. Silvana Tirinzoni, two stones left.

0:41:08 > 0:41:13This is their Olympic Games, in terms of the result, put them out of

0:41:13 > 0:41:23contention. For Eve Muirhead, Anna Sloan and the other team, you can

0:41:23 > 0:41:25see an opportunity building here.

0:41:31 > 0:41:40Silvana Tirinzoni, that trauma keeps at 100%, I'm still not sure if it's

0:41:40 > 0:41:43true, she has got a good chance of making this. Trying to come and

0:41:43 > 0:41:51freeze against the British red. Turning now, turning.Slowing down,

0:41:51 > 0:42:01not enough, she hasn't got enough. That's still two, maybe even three

0:42:01 > 0:42:08for Great Britain. And she knows, she will come and have a little

0:42:08 > 0:42:17look, I am sure.I think we go here. Eve does not want her to have the

0:42:17 > 0:42:22option to play that again. No, especially when she has just come

0:42:22 > 0:42:27down that line, if she puts one to the other side and says OK, I am

0:42:27 > 0:42:31drawing you away from the corner pocket, she needs a cover in the

0:42:31 > 0:42:36back of that.Actually, by being slightly over to the right as you

0:42:36 > 0:42:40and I look at it, she has room to come in and freeze on the bottom

0:42:40 > 0:42:46red. Eve will want to make sure that does not happen. If Eve closes the

0:42:46 > 0:42:51door on this pocket that makes it that the gold, silver and will not

0:42:51 > 0:42:59have anywhere to go. -- Silvana Tirinzoni.Maybe not sure about

0:42:59 > 0:43:04this.

0:43:05 > 0:43:10this.The trouble is if we go too far, we leave a bigger pocket.Would

0:43:10 > 0:43:17a short be better here, surely? Perhaps the other side, even if she

0:43:17 > 0:43:22makes the pocket, you still got the draw for one to get...A chance if

0:43:22 > 0:43:30she wants it. That's probably why Ken Howard was shaking his head.

0:43:30 > 0:43:38Given her an opportunity again, that opportunity.I can tell you there

0:43:38 > 0:43:43are cheers next to this house, Japan have stolen in the final end, not a

0:43:43 > 0:43:49good result for Great Britain, Japan beaten Sweden, that means Japan have

0:43:49 > 0:43:54five wins, two losses, they will have the same record as Sweden after

0:43:54 > 0:43:59seven matches, Great Britain have two tough matches to finish, yes I

0:43:59 > 0:44:05said one of them was against Canada but the other one is against Japan.

0:44:05 > 0:44:10Well, Great Britain need to win this one first. And that's far from

0:44:10 > 0:44:18certain. So, the final stone for Silvana Tirinzoni, trying to make

0:44:18 > 0:44:24life difficult for Eve Muirhead here, Great Britain are lying, we

0:44:24 > 0:44:31think two, this is a perfect shot... Will get inside those two. Where is

0:44:31 > 0:44:37this going? Where is this going? It's got a chance, it's wider, will

0:44:37 > 0:44:41it catch the red on the way in, it won't, will it go by and the other

0:44:41 > 0:44:47side, I don't think so, it might bump.They offer swept that.They

0:44:47 > 0:44:52might bump, that means it can be pushed out. Eve Muirhead a chance to

0:44:52 > 0:45:01win this.Silvana Tirinzoni looking gutted, that was sleeping there,

0:45:01 > 0:45:05they were just not wait too quickly, they needed to leave it until it got

0:45:05 > 0:45:10the poll. Could this be an opportunity for Great Britain to tap

0:45:10 > 0:45:18it through? She needs to do is move that back. Just checking whether, if

0:45:18 > 0:45:25she moves that, the shooter would be in. We've got another one counting.

0:45:25 > 0:45:29Ahead of that yellow, at least if the other one, the sort of three

0:45:29 > 0:45:36o'clock lying isn't the same.Looks like she's playing a head to check

0:45:36 > 0:45:41it out. Here we go. This is going to be good. Just got to get rid of the

0:45:41 > 0:45:49yellow.Clean is always good. Good, this could be good. Excellent. It's

0:45:49 > 0:45:55enough, I'm pretty sure. Not much in it, the handshake. They aren't going

0:45:55 > 0:45:58to bother measuring that. They decided it was close enough, Eve

0:45:58 > 0:46:04Muirhead finally manages to get the victory for the British team, in a

0:46:04 > 0:46:09match which went both ways, Britain on top, then Switzerland, it was a

0:46:09 > 0:46:14seesaw all the way, finally two in the tenth end means great written

0:46:14 > 0:46:21come out on top, 8-7, much-needed victory keeps their hopes very much

0:46:21 > 0:46:26alive of guaranteeing a place in the semifinals, two more matches to

0:46:26 > 0:46:29come, tough ones against Japan and Canada but they beat Switzerland,

0:46:29 > 0:46:33job done.

0:46:33 > 0:46:42STUDIO: It was a terrific match to watch. Rhona Howie is next to me.

0:46:42 > 0:46:47The Swiss gave Eve a chance and she took it stops are absolutely. If she

0:46:47 > 0:46:53hadn't rolled off, Eve would have had a drop of one.Just that's like

0:46:53 > 0:46:57miscommunication in their sweeping gave Eve a chance and she nailed it.

0:46:57 > 0:47:03We will get an interview with the four very soon. I am sure we will be

0:47:03 > 0:47:09back with them. Let's just have a look at the dying ends of the tenth

0:47:09 > 0:47:13end, and talk us through what you are thinking as a skip, what you

0:47:13 > 0:47:18need to do.It is one of these shots, you can see the whole stone

0:47:18 > 0:47:21and no more. She couldn't be tight and hit the guard, she could afford

0:47:21 > 0:47:26to be on the wide side and roll out, as she did. She had two other

0:47:26 > 0:47:31counters in there. She knew the side to air on Angie didn't play down

0:47:31 > 0:47:38weight but positive weight.Let's look at the standings. We have Japan

0:47:38 > 0:47:42and Canada still to come. Great Britain, and there have been match

0:47:42 > 0:47:50is going on at the same time. You were following what was happening.

0:47:50 > 0:47:54And exciting lead Japan and Sweden had a big ding dong game and Japan

0:47:54 > 0:48:00beat Sweden. Though it means Japan and Sweden are now on the same

0:48:00 > 0:48:04record, five wins and two losses. Great Britain currently in joint

0:48:04 > 0:48:10fourth place with the USA. In terms of

0:48:10 > 0:48:12fourth place with the USA. In terms of what that means, basically

0:48:12 > 0:48:14Britain still in control of their own destiny and that is the

0:48:14 > 0:48:18important thing. Not looking around thinking I hope so and so beat them.

0:48:18 > 0:48:22You don't want to rely on other people to win or lose. Destiny is

0:48:22 > 0:48:26still in their own hands. They have Japan and Canada, they are capable

0:48:26 > 0:48:30of beating both these countries and if they do that they are in the

0:48:30 > 0:48:35semifinals.Overall, how do you think they played?A bit of an edgy

0:48:35 > 0:48:39game, some great shots and some silly shots from both teams. It came

0:48:39 > 0:48:44down to that tenth end. Britain played a fantastic tenth end and put

0:48:44 > 0:48:45the pressure on Switzerland.

0:48:45 > 0:48:47played a fantastic tenth end and put the pressure on Switzerland.Going

0:48:47 > 0:48:51back, the final two stones. The Swiss had the hammer and Britain

0:48:51 > 0:48:55were leading 5-3 at this stage. I think what a lot of people will be

0:48:55 > 0:49:00impressed with is how Britain came back after that controversial hog

0:49:00 > 0:49:08line issue that even. They have come back strongly but the Swiss were

0:49:08 > 0:49:13making life testing all the time. Yes, this was a great freeze by Eve

0:49:13 > 0:49:13making life testing all the time. Yes, this was a great freeze by Eve,

0:49:13 > 0:49:23she came right in, froze on top of the yellow and lay shot. Not an easy

0:49:23 > 0:49:28shot.So the pressure was on Tirinzoni. Explain why it is so

0:49:28 > 0:49:33difficult.Because the British stone is frozen on the yellow Swiss stone,

0:49:33 > 0:49:36she has to hit it exactly in the right place and she does it

0:49:36 > 0:49:41perfectly to score two. That brought the scores back to 5-5. And all the

0:49:41 > 0:49:45time you are thinking, the build-up, the build-up, the build up.

0:49:45 > 0:49:51Sometimes the Swiss were in really strong positions and make good

0:49:51 > 0:49:55decisions. There was one stone, if they played at 50,000 times they

0:49:55 > 0:49:58couldn't have missed it the way they did. This was bad luck as much as

0:49:58 > 0:50:02anything.She was trying to go through the gap here. It would have

0:50:02 > 0:50:08put Britain in big trouble. They didn't sweep and she just rubbed the

0:50:08 > 0:50:12top one. That was the key shot per Switzerland to make that. If they

0:50:12 > 0:50:12had,

0:50:12 > 0:50:15Switzerland to make that. If they had, Britain in big trouble, but

0:50:15 > 0:50:22Miss called sweeping.Ifs, buts maybes. Eve Muirhead and her team

0:50:22 > 0:50:27getting the win. Let's hear the reaction from them.

0:50:27 > 0:50:33Well done, but you're not making this easy, are you?No. That was a

0:50:33 > 0:50:38tough game and a game of inches. Both teams played really well, a lot

0:50:38 > 0:50:43of good shot making. We knew, I think we have two win about every

0:50:43 > 0:50:47game now. I think we stepped up a dear friend yesterday and if we can

0:50:47 > 0:50:53keep this going until tomorrow.A good point there, Lauren. It looks

0:50:53 > 0:50:58like everyone was on their game from the start tonight?Yes, that was our

0:50:58 > 0:51:02intention. We knew we pretty much needed to win every game from here

0:51:02 > 0:51:06and we wanted to be as professional and play as well as we could. We

0:51:06 > 0:51:09feel like we did that and it was a very tight game and we are very

0:51:09 > 0:51:13happy to have won.Does it get frustrating when you know you are

0:51:13 > 0:51:18playing well on the opposition keep matching you?Yes, I think you get a

0:51:18 > 0:51:22bit of frustration that we have worked a lot on how to compose

0:51:22 > 0:51:25ourselves, refocus and concentrate on one stone at a time and that is

0:51:25 > 0:51:30what we did.Two games to go, tough games. Japan got a win tonight

0:51:30 > 0:51:34against Sweden. You have them and Canada.Yes, we do. I think we've

0:51:34 > 0:51:40taken every game here down to the wire. Obviously that is what we are

0:51:40 > 0:51:44going to be expecting for our next two games. We are going to go back,

0:51:44 > 0:51:50debrief, relax and come out fighting again tomorrow.Well done.Let's

0:51:50 > 0:51:51have a look at the standings.

0:51:51 > 0:51:54again tomorrow.Well done.Let's have a look at the standings. Japan

0:51:54 > 0:51:57and Canada, the matches still to come for Great Britain. The

0:51:57 > 0:52:00Canadians, having started badly, have come into form and could be

0:52:00 > 0:52:05difficult. They lost their first three. And then they won the next

0:52:05 > 0:52:10three. They are on their way up. Japan in second place. Republic of

0:52:10 > 0:52:15Korea going well, lots of home support them. Sweden in joint second

0:52:15 > 0:52:20in Great Britain currently in joint fourth. Two games still to come, and

0:52:20 > 0:52:20it

0:52:20 > 0:52:22fourth. Two games still to come, and it will be fairly tense tomorrow.

0:52:22 > 0:52:25Say and they're what you said about the importance that the men and

0:52:25 > 0:52:31women?Very important. Wins tomorrow would put us that in the semifinals

0:52:31 > 0:52:36for both men and women. We are still in the running. Losses will make us

0:52:36 > 0:52:40all very nervous. You said it is one of the biggest days of British

0:52:40 > 0:52:48curling ever.Did I?Yes, that's what you said! Thank you for talking

0:52:48 > 0:52:53so expertly for it. Let's bring you up to date on the state of affairs

0:52:53 > 0:52:59for Elise Christie. After her incredibly painful looking crash and

0:52:59 > 0:53:03departure, the latest issue will undergo a fitness test tomorrow to

0:53:03 > 0:53:08determine if she can compete in her final bid for winter Olympic Glory

0:53:08 > 0:53:16in the 1000 metres. The hits are tomorrow. She was on the ice today

0:53:16 > 0:53:19purely to see if she could put the boot on and skate around a bit. She

0:53:19 > 0:53:24will go through a training session tomorrow. If she comes through that

0:53:24 > 0:53:27and that is still a big if, she will compete tomorrow evening Korean

0:53:27 > 0:53:33time. To be honest, UK time we will know at around 2am, 2:30am whether

0:53:33 > 0:53:36or not Elise Christie will be lining up at ten o'clock tomorrow morning

0:53:36 > 0:53:41for the heat of her 1000 metres. He also said she absolutely wants to

0:53:41 > 0:53:45and if medically we are happy and it is clear, the decision will be hers

0:53:45 > 0:53:50to skate. Indications I got just now, she is very keen to do so.

0:53:50 > 0:53:54Michaela Shiffrin has had to change plans a bit because the Alpine

0:53:54 > 0:53:59schedule has become very packed. Games organisers have announced the

0:53:59 > 0:54:03women's combined event is moved forward a day to Thursday and that

0:54:03 > 0:54:08has persuaded Michaela Shiffrin to skip Wednesday's downhill. She said,

0:54:08 > 0:54:12as much as I wanted to compete in the Olympic downhill, with the

0:54:12 > 0:54:16schedule change it's important to focus my energy on preparing for the

0:54:16 > 0:54:18combined. Remember, she has already won

0:54:18 > 0:54:24combined. Remember, she has already won gold in the giant slalom. She

0:54:24 > 0:54:28skipped the super-g. She wanted to skate on the downhill but because it

0:54:28 > 0:54:31is getting very tight, she is going to concentrate on Thursday's

0:54:31 > 0:54:37combined. That is the news and the American superstar. Right, we are

0:54:37 > 0:54:43going to be focusing on the two man Bob. The final run to co-and they

0:54:43 > 0:54:46are in reverse order, Great Britain hoping for a place in the top ten.

0:54:46 > 0:54:52Let's see what happened in the third run.

0:54:52 > 0:55:04COMMENTATOR: We're underway, the men's two-man bob.

0:55:04 > 0:55:07men's two-man bob.Watch for the start time, five seconds dead is

0:55:07 > 0:55:15routine for them. 5.05 slightly slower. This is where he tipped it

0:55:15 > 0:55:20over yesterday, but he is fine now, 49.30 two. But that the slowest of

0:55:20 > 0:55:27his three runs. Just opens the door a little bit, maybe.

0:55:27 > 0:55:31a little bit, maybe. Justin Kripps and Alexander Kopacz. A usual

0:55:31 > 0:55:38cracking start. 4.90 three. This is a big run from these guys and they

0:55:38 > 0:55:41will keep coming away from the Germans. This is their move towards

0:55:41 > 0:55:48the front but it is still going to be within hundredths at the end.

0:55:48 > 0:55:56Kripps Well that 300s evaporate slightly? A good lead by over a

0:55:56 > 0:56:05tenth. Kripps has put the pressure on. Now Francesco Friedrich and

0:56:05 > 0:56:11Thorsten Margis. Needs a 4.90 start to get him under to get any chance

0:56:11 > 0:56:14of matching what Kripps did. The world number six pairing come to

0:56:14 > 0:56:22their finish now. Let's see where they are. Alongside Kripps and

0:56:22 > 0:56:27second.

0:56:30 > 0:56:32second. World number two, a four-time world champion in the

0:56:32 > 0:56:40two-man bob. Can they get it right now I'd keep themselves in medal

0:56:40 > 0:56:44contention?Phenomenal equipment, he is not usually this barbaric and he

0:56:44 > 0:56:49will have to fight to become Olympic champion from this point.12

0:56:49 > 0:56:56hundredths of a second. Ragged through 16 but he has closed. Look

0:56:56 > 0:57:01at that, a track record for him and he is now breathing down Kripps'

0:57:01 > 0:57:05neck. Here we go for Great Britain. Good luck to Brad Hall. What an

0:57:05 > 0:57:09overachiever and this has been up until now. He has never finished

0:57:09 > 0:57:15higher a World Cup than 13th in a two-man bob. Here he is seventh

0:57:15 > 0:57:19place in Olympic Games. Can he get under five seconds for his start? He

0:57:19 > 0:57:25is bang on.Not the rani needed out of that corner. Just settling into

0:57:25 > 0:57:34this. We know he can write this. Mistakes at two and four have cost

0:57:34 > 0:57:36him, falling a second behind the Canadians on gold medal position at

0:57:36 > 0:57:49the moment. STUDIO: From seventh place after two runs, the GB pair

0:57:49 > 0:57:58Brad Hall in 11th place. They will go in reverse order. You drove at

0:57:58 > 0:57:58two

0:57:58 > 0:58:00go in reverse order. You drove at two Olympics, three Olympics?Three.

0:58:00 > 0:58:05The problem at this course comes very early on.It is. The dangerous

0:58:05 > 0:58:08track of very fast but very technical, you can lose speed in so

0:58:08 > 0:58:13many places. Curved two is where it's happening. You need the

0:58:13 > 0:58:15velocity but curved two it is like two

0:58:15 > 0:58:17velocity but curved two it is like two corners and one. The start is

0:58:17 > 0:58:21very open. It right up. At the end, this thread is high and it tightens

0:58:21 > 0:58:27up, it is designed to throw you into the wall where you lose your speed.

0:58:27 > 0:58:31Curve four a key point also. Easy describes loose in that top section,

0:58:31 > 0:58:35they are dropping down.A few examples here of them coming into

0:58:35 > 0:58:43this.It throws you in and it is flat through curve three, so if you

0:58:43 > 0:58:47lose the velocity, you can't gain it back.We can look here at Brad Hall,

0:58:47 > 0:58:51who has been driving this course very well.Doing great, but it drops

0:58:51 > 0:58:55into the wall and pushes him away. He has a ready lost ten kilometres

0:58:55 > 0:59:01an hour. Really sad. I think it just unsettles him, pushes him of his

0:59:01 > 0:59:06rhythm and the the run of the two days, a real shame. You can see the

0:59:06 > 0:59:10speed builds as they go down the course. This is what is so is so

0:59:10 > 0:59:17cool about the Bob Tway rather than skeleton and

0:59:20 > 0:59:26skeleton and luge, you can see where they are on the course.Through

0:59:26 > 0:59:31curves 15 and 16. There are three key areas, the two combination, two,

0:59:31 > 0:59:35three and four and as you come off curve nine you need to come off left

0:59:35 > 0:59:38and get through the bend straight. There are two curves, not a straight

0:59:38 > 0:59:41line, carry your speed through the uphill section and hopefully you

0:59:41 > 0:59:46minimise the loss. The great thing about the bob, so much room you can

0:59:46 > 0:59:50even fit a camera on the front. This gives me slight motion sickness I

0:59:50 > 0:59:55can't watch! I will let you talk us through it.Curve one is short,

0:59:55 > 0:59:58curved two, it tightens up and it wants to throw you into the wall and

0:59:58 > 1:00:02then a flat section. Curve four very different to how it has been for all

1:00:02 > 1:00:06the training so catching a lot of pilots out. Curve five and six

1:00:06 > 1:00:10combination corners, trying to carry your speed through. As you start to

1:00:10 > 1:00:13get through curve eight and nine, you go into that straight, you try

1:00:13 > 1:00:18to carry as much speed as possible and avoid the wall. He we see it. It

1:00:18 > 1:00:23is actually two curves although bendy street as we it. Ten, 11, if

1:00:23 > 1:00:28you can continual speed, a couple of big corners and then uphill.Do you

1:00:28 > 1:00:33ever go so high on the side you run out of ice?You do. A lot of the

1:00:33 > 1:00:36times the sleds are crashing, yesterday someone was right up

1:00:36 > 1:00:41there. It throws you up. A sled will always get to the bottom, but how

1:00:41 > 1:00:44you manipulate the pressures depends which way up you get.If you get a

1:00:44 > 1:00:49bit Karthik like me, that is not... -- Karthik.

1:00:49 > 1:00:52-- Karthik.

1:00:52 > 1:00:53I find that

1:00:53 > 1:00:57I find that really quite queasy making.

1:00:57 > 1:01:01Canada but they beat Switzerland, job done.

1:01:01 > 1:01:09When you are what when you are watching it, you're focusing one

1:01:09 > 1:01:17corner to the next.Cool Runnings, feel the rhythm, feel the ride.Feel

1:01:17 > 1:01:23the rhythm, feel the ride, correct. I wanted to ask, the organisers, is

1:01:23 > 1:01:28that of to them to decide the track or are the regulations they have to

1:01:28 > 1:01:36follow?There are regulations, especially after

1:01:39 > 1:01:43especially after Vancouver, a fatal accident before it even started. Now

1:01:43 > 1:01:47they have really tightened up there is a track commission, the track

1:01:47 > 1:01:51commission have to analyse plans and constantly go back and say... For

1:01:51 > 1:01:58last three Olympics the maximum addict speed has been blown by 15-20

1:01:58 > 1:02:03kilometres an hour. Technology and athletes evolve, as much as at this

1:02:03 > 1:02:10.6 years out from an Olympics, that is the optimal speed, every nation

1:02:10 > 1:02:14is pushing to get faster and technology progresses on a weekly

1:02:14 > 1:02:17basis.Let's find out who is the fastest on the fourth and final run

1:02:17 > 1:02:24and further Britain can move up from 11th place into ten. We join it, the

1:02:24 > 1:02:25commentators John Jackson and John

1:02:29 > 1:02:38COMMENTATOR:. Holding a big lead over at the Frenchman. At the start

1:02:38 > 1:02:45of this run. Although he has not had the happiest of competitions, he is

1:02:45 > 1:02:50a class act when he gets it right. He went very well here at the World

1:02:50 > 1:02:56Cup in the four man event, finishing second. No real excuse, he knows the

1:02:56 > 1:03:04track, he has been a little bit inconsistent. He has done well, had

1:03:04 > 1:03:08podiums. A quality pilot but sometimes his style is a little bit

1:03:08 > 1:03:14loose in terms of when he is driving, he can be very good are

1:03:14 > 1:03:19buying off all the walls. He still creates speed and you think how is

1:03:19 > 1:03:25he doing that. A pilot of his standard should not make that

1:03:25 > 1:03:28mistake and is standard and it will be the little mistakes that cost him

1:03:28 > 1:03:34and potentially dropped the French but have the French done enough?

1:03:34 > 1:03:39That was a good line. He should be able to hold onto the lead but it's

1:03:39 > 1:03:43not about the French, it's about trying to move forward into the top

1:03:43 > 1:03:51ten. He needs a quick one here. Lovely and clean through 15, if a

1:03:51 > 1:04:00little high. That is the quickest he's been at this Olympic Games.

1:04:00 > 1:04:05That just shows high-quality the French team is, they were three

1:04:05 > 1:04:20hundredths quicker. The runs prior to that let them down.

1:04:20 > 1:04:27to that let them down.So Brad Hall to come. Peter starting again, he's

1:04:27 > 1:04:32getting older, less easy to jump into that front seat.Coming through

1:04:32 > 1:04:38the tricky transition. Two, three, a really good shot, a good idea they

1:04:38 > 1:04:43have put into these sleds. As you get older it's more difficult to

1:04:43 > 1:04:48maintain speed, to keep up with the best pilots in the world but getting

1:04:48 > 1:04:53into this lead is easier once you have the technique.Next to go for

1:04:53 > 1:05:02the United States.

1:05:02 > 1:05:10the United States. Olsen/Weinstock. Olsen had his appendix out two weeks

1:05:10 > 1:05:15ago. Can he threw in his strongest run to put pressure on Brad Hall who

1:05:15 > 1:05:21comes next?Evan on the back just lifted the sled slightly, his foot

1:05:21 > 1:05:30not going forward, that was a great start. That is why he is an Olympic

1:05:30 > 1:05:35athlete, transferred into the front seat and he's been the most

1:05:35 > 1:05:40consistent American pilot out of all three, he really gets this track but

1:05:40 > 1:05:43it's his little bit of an experience, sliding on the corner

1:05:43 > 1:05:46but he needs to put on a good run especially through this part, a

1:05:46 > 1:05:54little bit high, losing speed a little. That's due to him doing too

1:05:54 > 1:05:58much in the track.Round the Olympic Bend, you can see he has stopped

1:05:58 > 1:06:05behind. Goes first at the moment. One in eight nine to the line from

1:06:05 > 1:06:09here and he drops further back, ultimate disappointment for Olsen

1:06:09 > 1:06:16who drops behind the French man. Heinrich improves another position.

1:06:16 > 1:06:19That is bad news for Olsen, it's good news for Brad Hall who comes

1:06:19 > 1:06:26next.Potentially what happened with Brad on the first run, he lost a

1:06:26 > 1:06:31little bit of control all the way down but the ice was -11, it was not

1:06:31 > 1:06:35that cold yesterday, for what it could be doing, lost a little bit of

1:06:35 > 1:06:40control, you see the athlete on the back lifting the sled. For Brad,

1:06:40 > 1:06:46because the ice is a lot warmer, this is the condition these runners

1:06:46 > 1:06:50working. Hopefully he will have more control and food in a run like you

1:06:50 > 1:06:54did on the first two yesterday, that's what he needs to stay in

1:06:54 > 1:07:02front of the Swiss.I think Brad halt to come for Great Britain. He

1:07:02 > 1:07:06has got all of Sussex right behind him. All of Great Britain behind

1:07:06 > 1:07:10him, it would be a major disappointment of few drops behind

1:07:10 > 1:07:16Olsen after what we have seen from the American. The key here is can he

1:07:16 > 1:07:22get himself up to the top ten. Brad Hall, Christopher Spring to come,

1:07:22 > 1:07:26one of the world's best, seems as though it's between those two for

1:07:26 > 1:07:34top ten. Hall needs a really good one here, his start time... For .97,

1:07:34 > 1:07:40pretty decent.Needs to get through the corner and that won't help him,

1:07:40 > 1:07:45that little tap. A big lead over this was but I don't know whether

1:07:45 > 1:07:51that tap at the top will help him out. He needs to try and tune in to

1:07:51 > 1:07:55the track and be perfect from now on. He's been good on this track, a

1:07:55 > 1:08:00lot of feel for it, been good at this point on the track, a little

1:08:00 > 1:08:04bit late coming in, don't know whether he has the speed to stay

1:08:04 > 1:08:09ahead. We want Brad to be in the top ten, dropping away, going to be down

1:08:09 > 1:08:15to the hundredths, can he do enough? Going to be close. Fading away. Not

1:08:15 > 1:08:24to be. Not to be. Recall Peter goes ahead. Olsen was not the problem.

1:08:24 > 1:08:32Peter was. And Peter, such an experienced Swiss rider was two

1:08:32 > 1:08:38tends behind Brad Hall before the fourth run and Hall has lasted.

1:08:38 > 1:08:42Nothing much wrong with that run other than the little knock at the

1:08:42 > 1:08:47top, great push from the guys. That little exit from two into three that

1:08:47 > 1:08:53cost him. Brad gets hold of it quickly but we are not going to get

1:08:53 > 1:08:57to see it. He had already lost the speed from the top at that point,

1:08:57 > 1:09:02all in all, I think he has had a good competition, to finish sort of

1:09:02 > 1:09:06top 12 or however he finishes, he could still finish top ten if others

1:09:06 > 1:09:12move around him, I had him down for a top 12, good result.He is 11th at

1:09:12 > 1:09:20the moment. I think Chris Spring, he is next for Canada, I think he is

1:09:20 > 1:09:24probably the only one if he were to be untidy, Brad might get ahead of

1:09:24 > 1:09:31him but I think it's a long shot. Let's just see. As Chris Spring is

1:09:31 > 1:09:40about to go for Canada. The former 100 metres sprinter in Australia.

1:09:40 > 1:09:43Third Olympic Games, remember, that potentially upgraded fifth-place in

1:09:43 > 1:09:47Sochi in this event. Been a disappointing week for him relative

1:09:47 > 1:09:51to what he achieved in Russia. It is, the first time he made that

1:09:51 > 1:09:57mistake, between this pairing they have the most Olympic experience of

1:09:57 > 1:10:02everybody, looking at eight Olympic Games between them and Chris is a

1:10:02 > 1:10:05quality pilot, I was expecting him to be one of the medal favourites,

1:10:05 > 1:10:09looking at training and he's making little errors, is he going to have

1:10:09 > 1:10:14enough to stay in front of the Swiss, that is enough. I don't know

1:10:14 > 1:10:18whether he has the speed, well he dropped behind Brad and Brad moved

1:10:18 > 1:10:22back? Chris is holding onto his speed a little better but I think

1:10:22 > 1:10:29it's going to be down to the hundreds. Look at that. He has gone

1:10:29 > 1:10:36ahead of Peter. Brad Hall drops slightly further back. Chris Spring

1:10:36 > 1:10:44showing some of his renowned quality there. Not that quick but good

1:10:44 > 1:10:48enough just to take him to the front at the moment. You could see him out

1:10:48 > 1:10:52there having a little bit of banter with the Swiss, pointing out,

1:10:52 > 1:10:57showing that, a little margin.This is great competition between the

1:10:57 > 1:11:02guys, me and Chris have had some great races against each other over

1:11:02 > 1:11:05the use, you can see how much the steering is working, there were too

1:11:05 > 1:11:10many mistakes. He would have wanted to push forward more. Rather than

1:11:10 > 1:11:19scraping in in front of the Swiss. Brad Hall, 12th place, that is where

1:11:19 > 1:11:28he will finish, top 12. Getting very, very interesting now. Next to

1:11:28 > 1:11:32go for Canada, don't forget, shortly Canada will try and win gold. That

1:11:32 > 1:11:37will be

1:11:38 > 1:11:46will be down to Justin Cripps. Nicky in ninth place. He is far too far

1:11:46 > 1:11:55off. Now he has his

1:12:03 > 1:12:10eyes on whatever to.He can put in a good run. He could pull himself up a

1:12:10 > 1:12:14couple of places but definitely out of the medals. Trying to see if

1:12:14 > 1:12:19these guys can get into the top eight, top six sort of area. The

1:12:19 > 1:12:24Canadian equipment is working well, good run so far, nice and clean, all

1:12:24 > 1:12:29about the key area, not just about coming to corner 12 a little bit

1:12:29 > 1:12:34late. You can see speed building as he comes through the big Olympic

1:12:34 > 1:12:37corner and building to the speed trap, this will be a big margin.

1:12:37 > 1:12:44Let's see how he finishes, confirmed a top ten performance. Nice and

1:12:44 > 1:12:53consistent.

1:12:53 > 1:12:59consistent. From Poloniato. Nick confirmed ninth, that's how it

1:12:59 > 1:13:04feels, your first Olympic Games. The man who has better two man results

1:13:04 > 1:13:08rather than four and this was his moment, to a large extent he has

1:13:08 > 1:13:14taken it.For his first Olympic Games, you can see this led sliding

1:13:14 > 1:13:18as it drifts across, coming late, big wave in the final corner but

1:13:18 > 1:13:25again, a top ten result for a pilot of his level of driving, that's not

1:13:25 > 1:13:33bad at all, I would be happy with that.Eight more to go, it looks as

1:13:33 > 1:13:41though Ben Meyer and the next two, Kibermaris, are too far off the

1:13:41 > 1:13:46medals. The leading five have a significant break over these three.

1:13:46 > 1:13:51Ben Meyer, a tenth behind Kibermaris who is ahead of him at the moment.

1:13:51 > 1:14:02Ben Meyer, knocked in 49 points three, if he can find a 49 point to

1:14:02 > 1:14:10and produces best run, that's his chance to improve from his current

1:14:10 > 1:14:15eighth place. He needs a good start, usually very quick, can he break the

1:14:15 > 1:14:22record?Marcus Rand a long way on the back of the sled, these are some

1:14:22 > 1:14:26of the best athletes that Austria has put his sled is set up really

1:14:26 > 1:14:31soft, you see the way he came into the corner, the suspension

1:14:31 > 1:14:35compressed on the front, he likes a soft settle, the faster the sled

1:14:35 > 1:14:39will be but it's about being able to control the outcome he can't, he has

1:14:39 > 1:14:43a good feel for the sled. Building speed, has he got enough to get

1:14:43 > 1:14:48through here to hold onto the position? That was a good run by

1:14:48 > 1:14:51Nick, the gaps are minimal, he cannot afford to make any mistakes.

1:14:51 > 1:14:58I think he's going to drop back behind the Canadians.Poloniato

1:14:58 > 1:15:01might be about to go eighth at the Olympic Games, Meyer rocking and

1:15:01 > 1:15:07rolling on the final turn, he misses out. Miaow three punches the air,

1:15:07 > 1:15:16eighth for him. Not going to get any worse. -- Poloniato. The brakeman

1:15:16 > 1:15:22probably ran a cycle to four, and by a cycle I mean two steps. A little

1:15:22 > 1:15:26bit earlier the sled would not have jolted to the right and touched the

1:15:26 > 1:15:30wall, by running two for you kill the velocity, the driver loads in,

1:15:30 > 1:15:35takes a couple of steps to far, he just ran too far and not the sled

1:15:35 > 1:15:39over towards outside, that's a great view of the first corner through the

1:15:39 > 1:15:44nose camera put in there, into the tricky corner. As the athletes are

1:15:44 > 1:15:50further down the track in corner 12, these are really small margins, a

1:15:50 > 1:15:53couple of hundredths of a second and it's less than the blink of an eye

1:15:53 > 1:16:02and you can see, Canadian athletes, saying the twitch at the top.

1:16:04 > 1:16:12So now, Oscars Melbourne Ardis Oskars Melbadis --. A

1:16:12 > 1:16:13So now, Oscars Melbourne Ardis Oskars Melbadis --. A 24-year-old.

1:16:13 > 1:16:20Number four in the world. Usually a superb starter. Fourth in the World

1:16:20 > 1:16:25Championships. His best World Cup finished this year was third. He was

1:16:25 > 1:16:34really hopeful of bettering that. Oskars Melbadis, let's see this

1:16:34 > 1:16:41usual cracking start. 4.90 for him. He is rock with the starting. He did

1:16:41 > 1:16:45a lot of work at the top of the track. You could see... That will

1:16:45 > 1:16:49cost a lot of time. If he wanted to put a run towards the medals, that

1:16:49 > 1:16:55wasn't the move he needed to take. This is now possibly holding onto

1:16:55 > 1:17:01Benjamin Maier and Nick Pollin Artur. Good Poloniato move in front

1:17:01 > 1:17:05of this because of the mistake of the top? That is uncharacteristic of

1:17:05 > 1:17:10the Latvian. And because it is so close, he is going to fall back two

1:17:10 > 1:17:20places.Yes, looking as though Poloniato and Maier might come past.

1:17:20 > 1:17:25Will end badly for the Latvian? It does. They both go past him.

1:17:25 > 1:17:31Poloniato improving his edition and Maier going up a place. Poloniato

1:17:31 > 1:17:36guaranteed to seventh, Maier guaranteed eighth.Six to go.

1:17:36 > 1:17:41Hopefully we will get a replay of turn two. Look at the front of the

1:17:41 > 1:17:47sled, where the front runners are. You can see the black running shoes

1:17:47 > 1:17:52on the ice. Look at how much work he is doing. Can you see? They turn so

1:17:52 > 1:17:57much. The ice is not reacting, because he has tried so hard, it is

1:17:57 > 1:18:02just sliding across the ice rather than digging in and turning. He

1:18:02 > 1:18:07should have understood?Tried to steer too much too quickly on the

1:18:07 > 1:18:13runners couldn't purchase.Currently in sixth place is the Korean,

1:18:13 > 1:18:22Yunjong Won. His rate, on is Youngwoo Seo. These athletes are

1:18:22 > 1:18:29good. One was rated number one in the world. He's been hiding his

1:18:29 > 1:18:33light under a bushel in the Olympic Games. He can't get himself a medal

1:18:33 > 1:18:39but he is quick way. And he has been improving every run. His first run

1:18:39 > 1:18:43average, that the second and very quick on the third run. Almost as if

1:18:43 > 1:18:48he has timed it slightly wrong. They gambled. They gambled hoping because

1:18:48 > 1:18:58one of they were one of the lowest ranked they would be one of the

1:18:58 > 1:19:02last. First run was average. Good through that curve. We should not

1:19:02 > 1:19:05see any mistakes from this pilot at all. He knows this track inside out

1:19:05 > 1:19:12like the back of his hand. He is now pushing to stay in front of

1:19:12 > 1:19:15Poloniato at the bottom. I don't think he's got enough in this led to

1:19:15 > 1:19:20move up towards the top five, who are all covered by 13 hundredths of

1:19:20 > 1:19:24a second as they head towards the medals. This is a good run, a clean

1:19:24 > 1:19:28run. This is what we should be expecting from this Korean pilot who

1:19:28 > 1:19:39knows the track so well.He is up from 15 to the finish. 1:49.36 his

1:19:39 > 1:19:45time. He has dropped back to something like run two for

1:19:45 > 1:19:46time. He has dropped back to something like run two for. They

1:19:46 > 1:19:52don't care, do they? This is what I was saying about the differences in

1:19:52 > 1:19:57temperatures between the first and second His fastest run was when the

1:19:57 > 1:20:01mine ice was minus 11. Did they purposely turn it down a little bit

1:20:01 > 1:20:07to make it colder, to suit the Korean equipment? It is a home

1:20:07 > 1:20:11games, home advantage. I'm sure the coach will have had a word with the

1:20:11 > 1:20:16track manager, come on mate, help us out. As they come into curve seven

1:20:16 > 1:20:25and over the finish line.

1:20:25 > 1:20:28and over the finish line.Yunjong Won stays in sixth place. Strap

1:20:28 > 1:20:32yourself in for a fantastic race for the medals now. The top five are

1:20:32 > 1:20:38separated by just 13 hundredths of a second. Going now for Germany, we

1:20:38 > 1:20:48have three medal contenders. Nico Walther. Spectacular when leading

1:20:48 > 1:20:52after run number one. He has dropped back to fifth place as they begin

1:20:52 > 1:20:57this final assault on the medals. The question here, has he put

1:20:57 > 1:21:01himself under too much pressure to re-establish his position?Is might

1:21:01 > 1:21:06have been the equipment that didn't work on -11 and this is the sort of

1:21:06 > 1:21:10temperature it worked in yesterday. He is an absolute magician in the

1:21:10 > 1:21:13front of the sled. You don't normally see him make mistakes. He

1:21:13 > 1:21:18has the best feel out of all the pilots coming up next. So, into the

1:21:18 > 1:21:22last five. Don't be surprised if you still see a German one, two three on

1:21:22 > 1:21:26the podium. They haven't had any medals at the last Olympics. They

1:21:26 > 1:21:32are coming out fighting. They medals at this games. Germans cannot go

1:21:32 > 1:21:36away from an Olympic Games... That is a perfect line. Nothing wrong

1:21:36 > 1:21:40with this run at all. It is absolutely perfect. Just a little

1:21:40 > 1:21:46tap but it won't cost him any speed. Will he ducked his head as he comes

1:21:46 > 1:21:50round the final bend?He has to get really close to 49 seconds to put

1:21:50 > 1:21:56the pressure on. 49.35. His slowest of four. I think that is him done

1:21:56 > 1:22:01for.I think you could be right, I really do. He is looking at the

1:22:01 > 1:22:06clock. He has come down first. That is all he can do now. He has put the

1:22:06 > 1:22:10best run in that he can. Maybe his equipment was set up better for

1:22:10 > 1:22:14yesterday, not quite working today, but he can do no more. His Olympic

1:22:14 > 1:22:18run is over. Now we just need to watch the other celebs come down and

1:22:18 > 1:22:29see where he ends up. -- the other sleds come down.Nico, fantastic

1:22:29 > 1:22:33component to bobsleigh piloting that has a medal just dropped away? We

1:22:33 > 1:22:37have been long enough here this fortnight to never write any

1:22:37 > 1:22:44possibility off. Strange things have happened consistently.

1:22:50 > 1:22:54But Melbadis, who comes next starts just 100th of Nico Walther. We need

1:22:54 > 1:22:59the same sort of time to confirm that position. I think he needs to

1:22:59 > 1:23:04go a good deal quicker to put the medal chase up in the air.He just

1:23:04 > 1:23:08needs to put in a clean run. The time will be the time, whatever it

1:23:08 > 1:23:12is at the bottom. You can have a run like you did on his second run

1:23:12 > 1:23:16yesterday when he absolutely messed up on some of the top curves. If he

1:23:16 > 1:23:21has a good run, the rest are under pressure because he is one of the

1:23:21 > 1:23:27quickest guys on the field. Twice he has been 49.0 eight. That is

1:23:27 > 1:23:35required. First you need his usual 4.9 start. Let's see if he gets it.

1:23:35 > 1:23:38The gap will open up initially because of the gap between the

1:23:38 > 1:23:42German in the lead and this thread here. He will stop pulling away.

1:23:42 > 1:23:46Will he drive well enough? Good through there. Made a mistake there

1:23:46 > 1:23:50yesterday. Will he be good enough to stay in front of the German at the

1:23:50 > 1:23:54bottom, who had a perfect run? All these top pilots, there is nothing

1:23:54 > 1:23:57between them, absolutely nothing. The skill level these guys have is

1:23:57 > 1:24:05amazing. That is another perfect run into that

1:24:15 > 1:24:17corner. He has a absolutely nailed, slightly better than Nico Walther

1:24:17 > 1:24:20through this part of the track. No tap. Has he got enough to hold on?

1:24:20 > 1:24:23He starts to lose a little ground.I think he will, 15 clean, 16, does he

1:24:23 > 1:24:26take the lead, Melbadis? He does. Guaranteed fourth at worst. Melbadis

1:24:26 > 1:24:28has done all he can. He has finished 15 hundredths ahead of Nico Walther.

1:24:28 > 1:24:31It is a good effort. Will it be enough for a medal? We will see

1:24:31 > 1:24:42shortly. .These next three, Johannes Lochner has been very

1:24:42 > 1:24:47consistent this season but no Olympic experience. Francesco

1:24:47 > 1:24:50Friedrich and Olympic champion but struggled at the last Olympic Games.

1:24:50 > 1:24:55If he puts a run in like his first run, he will absolutely put pressure

1:24:55 > 1:24:58on Justin Kripps, the last pilot to come down and has been the most

1:24:58 > 1:25:03consistent this season and won the overall World Cup. These last three

1:25:03 > 1:25:06will be fighting for hundredths and hundredths of a second. It looks

1:25:06 > 1:25:10like Nico Walther is going to miss out. Melbadis currently with the

1:25:10 > 1:25:18lead. Free to come. Johannes Lochner had three hundredths of an advantage

1:25:18 > 1:25:24over Melbadis going into this fourth and final medal run. Silver

1:25:24 > 1:25:27medallist at two World Championships. He is world number

1:25:27 > 1:25:32six. He is slightly overachieving here. Karen he get himself a medal?

1:25:32 > 1:25:38His starts have been perfect. Just gone a shade quicker.Their velocity

1:25:38 > 1:25:43will be very good. It looks like as they come into the sled, it jumped

1:25:43 > 1:25:47forward as they both loaded. That is what you want, good velocity at the

1:25:47 > 1:25:51top. Not so much about the start time but how much speed at the top

1:25:51 > 1:25:54you are carrying into the first couple of corners. He has driven

1:25:54 > 1:25:58them perfectly. A nice high line, right on the limits as he pushes

1:25:58 > 1:26:02himself across. A little bit high but early... That is going to cost

1:26:02 > 1:26:06him. Is he going to fall behind the Latvians at the bottom? They do find

1:26:06 > 1:26:10a lot of speed at the bottom of the track. Another mistake, this is

1:26:10 > 1:26:16falling away from him. They will not get a medal at this rate. But the

1:26:16 > 1:26:23Latvian is. The final run gets ragged and he drops further back

1:26:23 > 1:26:29behind Nico Walther. He has blown it, Lochner. Melbadis has himself a

1:26:29 > 1:26:32guaranteed medal for Latvia. This is what we have seen in all of the

1:26:32 > 1:26:36competition so far. Certainly in these single competitions, the last

1:26:36 > 1:26:40three or four coming down have all moved around because somebody has

1:26:40 > 1:26:45made a mistake. Is that the pressure that has just got to this young

1:26:45 > 1:26:49pilot, Johannes Lochner? Not really any mistakes until he got to that

1:26:49 > 1:26:55exit nine into 12, that little tap as you come down the Dragon's tale

1:26:55 > 1:26:59is what cost. Everything was perfect. This is what cost him a

1:26:59 > 1:27:02potential Olympic medal. A couple of centimetres the other way and he

1:27:02 > 1:27:07would have been down in front of the Latvians and his team-mates.Well,

1:27:07 > 1:27:11well, well. This means... The Germans so want to get this gold

1:27:11 > 1:27:16medal. They had three chances. They only have one more chance of gold

1:27:16 > 1:27:20and it remains at the hands of Francesco Friedrich, the man who had

1:27:20 > 1:27:27a nightmare in Sochi went so well fancied. He is a superb, superb

1:27:27 > 1:27:32pilot. But can he now put his name alongside the greats? Let's see how

1:27:32 > 1:27:38he's starts. One thing we know for certain, Germany are going to get a

1:27:38 > 1:27:42medal because Nico Walther is set in second. Whatever happens here, if he

1:27:42 > 1:27:46comes down in front or behind him, they have a medal, which is what

1:27:46 > 1:27:50they need. But he is not bothered about Nico Walther winning a bronze

1:27:50 > 1:27:54medal, what he is worried about is getting the gold. He licked the

1:27:54 > 1:27:58afterburners on run one. A new track record. The any person we have seen

1:27:58 > 1:28:07go on ducks that 49 seconds. Is this going to be the run that will win

1:28:07 > 1:28:10it? That was almost perfect but he is starting to pull away. Has he

1:28:10 > 1:28:13come into that corner a little late, which will cost him speed? A little

1:28:13 > 1:28:23tap. It is dropping of.Down to six hundredths, clean out 15, has here

1:28:23 > 1:28:30-- got enough customer just moved ahead of the Latvian. Friedrich goes

1:28:30 > 1:28:35to the front, guaranteed silver. Melbadis guaranteed bronze. Are we

1:28:35 > 1:28:41going to get one final upheaval, as Justin Kripps for Canada waits on

1:28:41 > 1:28:47the sidelines? Friedrich has done all he can.One thing Justin Kripps

1:28:47 > 1:28:52has to do now is absolutely nailed this. If he doesn't, he could drop

1:28:52 > 1:28:55out of the medals, because everything is so tight at the

1:28:55 > 1:29:00moment. He has two tents. If he wants a medal he has to come in

1:29:00 > 1:29:05front of Nico Walther. He has been the most consistent pilot, he should

1:29:05 > 1:29:08be able to stay in front of the Germans but you never know. One

1:29:08 > 1:29:12mistake is so costly at this level, because everybody has been

1:29:12 > 1:29:18absolutely perfect. Our Germany going to win gold with Francesco

1:29:18 > 1:29:25Friedrich Horwill Canada win gold -- Horwill Canada win gold with this

1:29:25 > 1:29:30man, Justin Kripps, who is in the next 60 seconds or so attempting to

1:29:30 > 1:29:35win gold in this two man event for Canada for the first time since 1998

1:29:35 > 1:29:43when Pierre did it. Friedrich in his sights. Kripps has had identical

1:29:43 > 1:29:49starts on each of his three runs. 4.93 the figure to watch out for. He

1:29:49 > 1:29:56is capable of a 49.09, which, of course, we'll do it if he can repeat

1:29:56 > 1:30:03it. The start all-important. 4.93 as Kripps goes for gold for character.

1:30:03 > 1:30:084.9 two. You will see initially in fall back into the red as they have

1:30:08 > 1:30:14done because of the start deficit between these and Friedrich. Watch

1:30:14 > 1:30:18now. Justin is going to have to drive the run of his life to come

1:30:18 > 1:30:23down. He has been so consistent this year. He has been on the podium

1:30:23 > 1:30:28almost every race and has had two top fours. His worst result is top

1:30:28 > 1:30:32four. He is mailing lists. Starting to pull in front of the Germans.

1:30:32 > 1:30:36They had made mistakes at this point. He cannot afford any

1:30:36 > 1:30:39mistakes. This will be gold for Canada unless he makes a mistake

1:30:39 > 1:30:44down at the bottom. Definitely a gold medal run.Go Kripps, the world

1:30:44 > 1:30:51number one for Canada, can he do it? It is a dead heat, it is a dead heat

1:30:51 > 1:30:55with Friedrich! For the first time in 20 years we have a dead heat.

1:30:55 > 1:31:06That is absolutely extraordinary! In 1998, the Italian dead heated with

1:31:06 > 1:31:11the Canadian and we have the same scenario again. Kripps and Friedrich

1:31:11 > 1:31:16shared the gold.

1:31:19 > 1:31:27Astonishing drama. At the Sliding Centre. What an amazing finish. You

1:31:27 > 1:31:31just don't get any closer than that and you can see straight away, the

1:31:31 > 1:31:37camaraderie between these teams. The first people to congratulate the

1:31:37 > 1:31:40Canadians was the German payer, they are sharing the gold medal with,

1:31:40 > 1:31:47what an absolute corker of a race. Maybe if Friedrich thought it had

1:31:47 > 1:31:50gone, maybe he was saying to himself, Cripps is going to beat us,

1:31:50 > 1:31:56he did not appear to do much wrong. He didn't, but maybe he over drove

1:31:56 > 1:32:00the last couple of curves to find the right line. What an amazing

1:32:00 > 1:32:08competition. This is what bobsleigh is about, close racing.Well. Just

1:32:08 > 1:32:15fantastic. Germany back with the gold, Friedrich can forget all about

1:32:15 > 1:32:23what happened at Sochi. And Justin Cripps, 31, gives Canada gold as

1:32:23 > 1:32:31well at the end of a stellar season for him. Onerous

1:32:31 > 1:32:35for him. Onerous -- honours even, both strike gold.It couldn't go to

1:32:35 > 1:32:42four nicer people. The two

1:32:43 > 1:32:46four nicer people. The two Germans, amazing people, you can see what it

1:32:46 > 1:32:49means to everybody, especially the Germans, they potentially thought

1:32:49 > 1:32:58they could have missed out and they thought it was not happening for

1:32:58 > 1:33:03them but he is the man doing the business. Will this give him the

1:33:03 > 1:33:08confidence to do the business in the four man as well?People will be

1:33:08 > 1:33:13asking back home, why not have a run-off, a run head-to-head, for

1:33:13 > 1:33:19gold? These are great scenes, they deserve it.We have just had a four

1:33:19 > 1:33:26run run-off, why have one? You could say, why don't we go down to this

1:33:26 > 1:33:34thousands like the luge doors. But this is great. Why change it?

1:33:34 > 1:33:38STUDIO: Fair point from John Jackson, it

1:33:38 > 1:33:43produces drama, shared gold medal, Canada and Germany, bronze to Latvia

1:33:43 > 1:33:48who had the fastest with run, how extraordinary Germany came into the

1:33:48 > 1:33:53final run six hundredths of a second behind and went exactly six

1:33:53 > 1:33:57hundredths of a second faster. Nicola let's reflect on the position

1:33:57 > 1:34:04and a run of Brad Hall and Joel fearing, finishing 12th.Able be

1:34:04 > 1:34:08disappointed after yesterday but what an amazing result, that is

1:34:08 > 1:34:09Brad's best ever result on

1:34:09 > 1:34:09what an amazing result, that is Brad's best ever result on a global

1:34:09 > 1:34:15scale. His best ever result, this was all about reparation for the

1:34:15 > 1:34:21four man.He still has joined us. Let's hear from Brad and Joel, they

1:34:21 > 1:34:29have in speaking to Matthew Pinsent. Brad, run three three Mac and four,

1:34:29 > 1:34:35how was it?Not as good as yesterday. Pretty solid runs. Made a

1:34:35 > 1:34:42mistake in each run, you can't make a stake on this track and I suffered

1:34:42 > 1:34:46the consequences.Joel, what did you make of diving tonight?Like I said,

1:34:46 > 1:34:53always really proud of Brad, come such a long way, what is it, 12? I

1:34:53 > 1:34:58mean, we cannot be upset about that, we know they two man is not where we

1:34:58 > 1:35:05shine, that's been -- beat our position by a place. If we do that

1:35:05 > 1:35:09in the four man, we are going to be number one so you can't be too upset

1:35:09 > 1:35:15about that.There is a rumour going around you are under the weather.A

1:35:15 > 1:35:20little bit under the weather but good guys around me, looking after

1:35:20 > 1:35:24me, we had to deal with that today but it means I just get fed and well

1:35:24 > 1:35:30for the four man, get out there and smash it up.I can see the smile is

1:35:30 > 1:35:35there, we reckon that the top two man position in the Olympics for

1:35:35 > 1:35:41many years. Is it? I didn't know. Like Joel said, my personal best in

1:35:41 > 1:35:48the World Cup is 13th, before the competition me and the coach we had

1:35:48 > 1:35:53a chat, and we said if we beat that, that's the main aim, we finished

1:35:53 > 1:35:56seventh after the first day, we still beat our target, I guess I

1:35:56 > 1:36:02have got to be happy. You've topped John Jackson.Guys, thanks for the

1:36:02 > 1:36:06love.Lovely to see them smiling, some

1:36:06 > 1:36:07love.Lovely to see them smiling, some of the highlights of the final

1:36:07 > 1:36:14run. They slipped from seventh down to 12 but Nicola, it's all a

1:36:14 > 1:36:18learning experience, it's about the four man and the two teams that will

1:36:18 > 1:36:23go for that. This was preparation, we know Brad is hugely talented,

1:36:23 > 1:36:28relatively inexperienced compared to the other guys, on the driving four

1:36:28 > 1:36:33or five years, it's about preparation for next week and for

1:36:33 > 1:36:37Beijing in 2020.Let's look at the crews who assured the gold, the last

1:36:37 > 1:36:43time this happened and 98, Canada involved there as well but Germany,

1:36:43 > 1:36:50what a drive from Friedrich.So exciting. Cripps, kept swapping and

1:36:50 > 1:37:02changing, or over four miles of ice. You see the Germans jumping for joy.

1:37:02 > 1:37:08Latvia, that bronze medal was great. The Canadians.Just fantastic.

1:37:08 > 1:37:14Canada have really started to put the metal down as last season,

1:37:14 > 1:37:19Cripps, World Cup champion this year. It was hit and miss, second,

1:37:19 > 1:37:23third, he was there or thereabouts, really just pulled it together, so

1:37:23 > 1:37:29exciting.Actually when they came over the line, they looked up for

1:37:29 > 1:37:34the green light, it wasn't green, neither was it read, because it was

1:37:34 > 1:37:39exactly the same score and I love the shots of the Germans and the

1:37:39 > 1:37:41Canadians, everybody hugging, it seems like a really tight that

1:37:41 > 1:37:48community, bobsleigh. Look at that, real sportsmanship, the Germans

1:37:48 > 1:37:54celebrating with the Canadians, they get a gold medal each, that is a

1:37:54 > 1:37:58tenth gold medal of the Olympic Games for Germany and for Canada, a

1:37:58 > 1:38:04six gold, no silver awarded. Then it goes bronze for Latvia. Nida Dar

1:38:04 > 1:38:09when it was a dead heat for gold there was a dead heat for bronze and

1:38:09 > 1:38:15GB were one of the teams that were in the dead heat. It's fantastic.

1:38:15 > 1:38:21It's family, we travelled together for five months of the year, same

1:38:21 > 1:38:25hotel, travel, these guys know each other in and out and it's amazing to

1:38:25 > 1:38:29see everyone celebrating. Fantastic but Germany, they had a shocker in

1:38:29 > 1:38:32Sochi. Allowed to get on the top podium first but here come the

1:38:32 > 1:38:40Canadians. For men in the gold medal position. At least they didn't have

1:38:40 > 1:38:45to stretch the podium, it was set up for the four man Bob. Always space

1:38:45 > 1:38:50for four people. I love that. Afterwards Matthews spoke to the

1:38:50 > 1:38:58Canadian pair.Alex, Justin, congratulations, what quite a debut.

1:38:58 > 1:39:04To win an Olympics. Incredible. How close did you think it was going to

1:39:04 > 1:39:10be before that last run?Tremendous start, we knew it was going to be a

1:39:10 > 1:39:14knife fight and we tried to squeeze out every second we could. Justin

1:39:14 > 1:39:19had an amazing run, it was enough. It must have been an amazing

1:39:19 > 1:39:23feeling, especially to stand together with two great sliders on

1:39:23 > 1:39:29the podium.Incredible. After seeing for Friedrich did in the first run,

1:39:29 > 1:39:34sliding well today, super fast run, setting the track record, I knew I

1:39:34 > 1:39:38needed everything for that last run, mentally and physically. We managed

1:39:38 > 1:39:42to do it, come down in a tie with those guys was incredible, winning

1:39:42 > 1:39:47the Olympics and sharing it with friends, amazing. The last time

1:39:47 > 1:39:50people so you sliding on the BBC, the Canadian bobsleigh was on its

1:39:50 > 1:39:55side in Sochi. You just need to put it on TV more often, we had a couple

1:39:55 > 1:40:01of good results from then. Quite a comeback.Fantastic.Well done.

1:40:01 > 1:40:08Thank you. Congratulations, Germany and Canada sharing that, the

1:40:08 > 1:40:11commentators said it doesn't get much closer.Funny enough that was

1:40:11 > 1:40:17one of the closest in history, because only the second time in

1:40:17 > 1:40:21Olympic history, the five sleds going into the final run were all

1:40:21 > 1:40:26within a quarter of a second, extraordinary. We had a dead heat in

1:40:26 > 1:40:33another speed event in Sochi, the women's downhill, alpine skier,

1:40:33 > 1:40:37speed events, extraordinarily, it happens. In the cross country

1:40:37 > 1:40:42skiing, we have to go to a photo finish and you think how can this be

1:40:42 > 1:40:47this close at the end of 35 minutes of huff and puff.Get your binding

1:40:47 > 1:40:52in front, that is the key. Thank you so much, been great. I am going to

1:40:52 > 1:40:56take you through some of the highlights, I think Nicola you are

1:40:56 > 1:41:00with me some of that, you go and have a well earned lunch.Watch out

1:41:00 > 1:41:05for her and coffee cups. I heard about that.If you want squeaky on

1:41:05 > 1:41:13time when it comes to this as Sir Alex Ferguson quaintly printed --

1:41:13 > 1:41:20put it, you can go no better than ski jumping. I did a feature there,

1:41:20 > 1:41:22right place, right time, turned out to be one of the greatest

1:41:22 > 1:41:27competitions in Olympic history and it was won by the host nation.

1:41:27 > 1:41:32Absolute mass hysteria particularly when this guy, the man who flunked

1:41:32 > 1:41:36his final jump four years earlier to throw away a gold medal in

1:41:36 > 1:41:44Lillehammer, he out jumped the hell, 137 metres, tens of thousands of

1:41:44 > 1:41:47people went bananas and I still get goosebumps thinking about it. The

1:41:47 > 1:41:51middle of a blizzard. I don't know how they did it. I'm not the only

1:41:51 > 1:41:57one who loves this team event, I know you do as well, whose jumpers

1:41:57 > 1:42:02would fly today? As we join this in the last round, it's very tight. The

1:42:02 > 1:42:06Norwegians have never won this event, Germany in second, the Polish

1:42:06 > 1:42:13team who have the double individual big hill champion in their team in

1:42:13 > 1:42:19bronze medal, the Japanese insects. We have a jump per team and they are

1:42:19 > 1:42:27cleared for takeoff. With Ollie Williams.

1:42:38 > 1:42:50COMMENTATOR: solid jump. He reacts immediately. That keeps Poland in

1:42:50 > 1:42:56contention. You heard almost a springboard sound of them leaping

1:42:56 > 1:43:04into the air. Like a fighter jet engine soaring down that hill. Look

1:43:04 > 1:43:10how quickly he lands this. Immediately knows it's good. You can

1:43:10 > 1:43:15see the green line when you jump, you know what you are trying to

1:43:15 > 1:43:27beat. That gives Poland to offer jobs gone. Keep in mind, when we see

1:43:27 > 1:43:39the German score, after this job. In the first round, he had 128 metres

1:43:39 > 1:43:49and just over 124 points. This is round two. Now... 129 metres. Was

1:43:49 > 1:43:56that a little short? Of what he thinks he needs? When I say

1:43:56 > 1:43:58mistakes, they can change everything, I'm not talking about

1:43:58 > 1:44:05the kind of mistake that sees you only jump 30 metres, I talk about if

1:44:05 > 1:44:10you lose 3-4 metres, that could be enough. Five points were in it

1:44:10 > 1:44:15between three teams at the start of the final round, there is a member

1:44:15 > 1:44:19of the German team providing some encouragement. I don't know, he

1:44:19 > 1:44:31doesn't know! Poland goal ahead of Germany. With two jumps to go. Well.

1:44:31 > 1:44:35The last of the second group. From Norway. He needs to keep his

1:44:35 > 1:44:47composure. And keep them ahead. Will he do it?

1:44:51 > 1:44:56Big jump, good jump, that looks as if it will be enough. Mr

1:44:56 > 1:45:01reliability. Has not been anywhere near the medals, unlike most

1:45:01 > 1:45:05Norwegian team members who have had such a good Olympics on the ski jump

1:45:05 > 1:45:15but top 15s in both events, fourth, consistency across the members that

1:45:15 > 1:45:19are so important, because you cannot get rid of any scores, you can't

1:45:19 > 1:45:24count three of them, you need four and that is for someone like Andreas

1:45:24 > 1:45:31comes in and that's why he gets that kind of reaction.

1:45:31 > 1:45:37They will be buzzing in Norway right now. Here is the score, still in

1:45:37 > 1:45:45first, it is a 30 point gap with two to go. That leaves it all to do.

1:45:45 > 1:45:51Look at this, Poland and Germany are slipping. If Norway could stay just

1:45:51 > 1:45:54about faultless with these last two jumps they will have their

1:45:54 > 1:46:00first-ever team gold medal. Austria, a shade ahead of Slovenia for

1:46:00 > 1:46:07fourth. Japan out on their own in sixth. And we have two sets of

1:46:07 > 1:46:14jumpers left to go. Norway, so far, dominating this Olympic team final

1:46:14 > 1:46:22and well on their way to that first ever team Olympic ski jump gold.

1:46:29 > 1:46:35A joy to watch this Norwegian team jump. We have a couple more

1:46:35 > 1:46:41opportunities to carry on. This is your start list for group three out

1:46:41 > 1:46:52of four. Austria have the job of overhauling Slovenia.

1:47:03 > 1:47:21118 metres in the first round. And that is not brilliant, 113.5. Not an

1:47:21 > 1:47:34improvement on his first round.

1:47:39 > 1:47:43When you land that far back, you can see how far behind you are. The

1:47:43 > 1:47:48coach looks and despondently. You have do stand here and wait for the

1:47:48 > 1:47:56score but not much fun, a bit of a sorry way to end your Olympics. But

1:47:56 > 1:48:07only 23, he will be back.From Russia,

1:48:07 > 1:48:16Russia, Mikael.

1:48:18 > 1:48:23He had 115 metres in the first round. And practically the same in

1:48:23 > 1:48:35the second round. Again, not at the top end of world-class.

1:48:35 > 1:48:39top end of world-class. All the Russian jump so far have been within

1:48:39 > 1:48:44about 115-123 metres.

1:48:47 > 1:48:51about 115-123 metres. If you are wondering why is style apart of

1:48:51 > 1:49:01this, why are there judges? It has always been this way. Kasai

1:49:01 > 1:49:05Preparing for his jump. There has always been a debate as to whether

1:49:05 > 1:49:08there should be style but that voice has been and that status quo

1:49:08 > 1:49:11prevails right now. The judges are watching this, not just for

1:49:11 > 1:49:19distance. Roundabout 125 metres for Kasai. 125 and the money. The

1:49:19 > 1:49:26landing was a bit scruffy. This is what the judges are looking at,

1:49:26 > 1:49:30looking at your form and the way you lean over those skis. The poise.

1:49:30 > 1:49:41Every ski jumper holds themselves so still, knees bent. Nice landing for

1:49:41 > 1:49:45Kasai. Some people have suggest get rid of the judges and just do it and

1:49:45 > 1:49:51distance, the danger with that is safety. Japan to second. There are

1:49:51 > 1:49:56issues or there have been issues around ski jumping with weight

1:49:56 > 1:50:01because the less you wait, the further you can jump. Laws have been

1:50:01 > 1:50:07brought in as to how athletes control their weight. Here is Bartol

1:50:07 > 1:50:11from Slovenia. That is one consideration. Judging it, the

1:50:11 > 1:50:18theory goes, keeps athletes doing things in a safe manner. Not too bad

1:50:18 > 1:50:24from Bartol, but again, 122 metres is not going to challenge anyone at

1:50:24 > 1:50:28the top end of proceedings.

1:50:34 > 1:50:42Three years and the World Cup circuit, Bartol. Slovenia building a

1:50:42 > 1:50:45reasonable ski jump team. Maybe in four years' time when we had to

1:50:45 > 1:50:50Beijing, they will have more of a say in this team final but not right

1:50:50 > 1:51:01now. First for the time being, but not for long.

1:51:01 > 1:51:07not for long. Grigore has seen Matt from Bartol.

1:51:07 > 1:51:10from Bartol. Slovenia on 8:36.7. Austria are left now in this mini

1:51:10 > 1:51:16battle for fourth place.

1:51:17 > 1:51:21battle for fourth place. 2011 world champion. Two bronze medals,

1:51:21 > 1:51:25Vancouver in 2010. Great pedigree, his form not so good right now. And

1:51:25 > 1:51:36again, I think he wanted more from that jump. 122.5. Just about the

1:51:36 > 1:51:42same distance as Bartol. Bartol scored 111 points, so there is your

1:51:42 > 1:51:51reference. Will this be above or below the 111 points?

1:51:52 > 1:51:56below the 111 points?Almost bang on, 111.3, and that will be enough

1:51:56 > 1:52:03to keep Austria about three points ahead of Slovenia, fighting it out

1:52:03 > 1:52:13for that somewhat sad fourth place. Into the medal contenders.

1:52:13 > 1:52:16Into the medal contenders.Kubacki, he has been on and off. He needs

1:52:16 > 1:52:22consistency now more than ever.

1:52:25 > 1:52:32It is OK, it is OK, not quite as far as his monster 138.5 first-round

1:52:32 > 1:52:41jump but it close enough to keep them in the hunt maybe for a silver

1:52:41 > 1:52:45against Germany. Could they even get past Norway for Goldcrest, we will

1:52:45 > 1:52:49need to see mistakes from Norway for that to happen. Andreas

1:52:57 > 1:53:01Kubacki through the outcome holder until the last minute, you absorb

1:53:01 > 1:53:05the landing on the front leg, shift the weight to your back leg and if

1:53:05 > 1:53:15you are happy, do that. Thumbs up from Kubacki. One 235.3 points.

1:53:15 > 1:53:29Poland go first and that puts pressure on Freitag.

1:53:33 > 1:53:43Relatively long jump. He's holding in his reaction. 134.5 metres. Looks

1:53:43 > 1:53:50back up at the hill. Little talking to himself because that is a good

1:53:50 > 1:53:57jump but it is so, so close. We just saw Kubacki put down 1:35.5. It

1:53:57 > 1:54:04comes down to judging and those few compensation points, no wind out

1:54:04 > 1:54:10there tonight hardly. Look at those German fans, willing on Freitag. And

1:54:10 > 1:54:17at the top of the hill, the Olympic champion looking on. Will he have

1:54:17 > 1:54:25that Freitag feeling? Second place. Rats is the translation from

1:54:25 > 1:54:34Freitag. Poland have a .6 lead going into the last two athletes. Forfang

1:54:34 > 1:54:40needs to be solid and long butty has a bit of a cushion. Our silver

1:54:40 > 1:54:47medallist on the normal hills. It is a good jump. Again, the distance

1:54:47 > 1:54:52wasn't quite up there with what we have seen. 132 metres. So, Norway

1:54:52 > 1:54:57might lose a little ground on Poland and Germany here, or at least lose a

1:54:57 > 1:55:02little of that advantage they have built up. They had about a 30 point

1:55:02 > 1:55:09gap. Let's see if those few extra metres are going to make a

1:55:09 > 1:55:13difference. Remember, the judges are looking at this as well. It is a

1:55:13 > 1:55:19good looking jump form wise, start still until the end. Almost offering

1:55:19 > 1:55:29up a little prayer. Johannson dons the helmet. He will be the last man

1:55:29 > 1:55:36down for Norway. They stay in first place. They preserved that 30 or so

1:55:36 > 1:55:43point advantage. Almost a breath of relief for Forfang. The judges were

1:55:43 > 1:55:50happy and you will see now that that gap has closed to more like 20

1:55:50 > 1:55:55points separating Norway and Poland, with Germany just a fraction behind.

1:55:55 > 1:55:5920 points for your last jump is still a lot to play with but it

1:55:59 > 1:56:03means Robert Johannson has to get it right. We are going into the final

1:56:03 > 1:56:09set of jumps, with pressure on Johannson and Poland and Germany

1:56:09 > 1:56:18slugging it out at the top end behind Norway. We look again at

1:56:18 > 1:56:23Forfang's jump. A little shaky on the landing. You could see the

1:56:23 > 1:56:27Norwegian coach is sort of saying, all right, good enough, good enough.

1:56:27 > 1:56:30They get to congregate down at the bottom, the Norwegian team, because

1:56:30 > 1:56:37they are in the lead. Three out of four down. One group to go, here

1:56:37 > 1:56:47they are. These men will decide their Pyeongchang 2018 team medals.

1:56:53 > 1:57:07Up to the top we go. Eight jumps left. We begin with

1:57:10 > 1:57:15left. We begin with Finland, Aalto. His last jump of this Olympic Games.

1:57:15 > 1:57:24A little short of the Cape point.

1:57:24 > 1:57:28A little short of the Cape point. -- K-point. 6.5 metres back, he will

1:57:28 > 1:57:31lose points from the 60 base score because of that and then the judges

1:57:31 > 1:57:38will give him another score based on this style.

1:57:41 > 1:57:47Into the landing. Not too much distance between those legs, ideally

1:57:47 > 1:57:53you would have a little more separation between those. 16.5s is

1:57:53 > 1:58:00OK for the judges. 104 points and Aalto bowels out of these Olympics.

1:58:00 > 1:58:14Olympic athlete from Russia Kliomov. He scored 111 points in the first

1:58:14 > 1:58:24round, and this is the second round. Just back of that red line. 122

1:58:24 > 1:58:37metres. So, lost a metre between his two rounds.

1:58:39 > 1:58:44Straighten up, ankles out, the shape and the skis, which is the method of

1:58:44 > 1:58:47ski jumping adopted by just about everybody at international level.

1:58:47 > 1:58:54And into that landing, which is mandatory, you don't have a choice,

1:58:54 > 1:59:01have to land that way, otherwise the judges deduct points. 108.8.

1:59:08 > 1:59:12Kobayashi from Japan. I know I keep banging on about him, he has been so

1:59:12 > 1:59:18much fun to watch. He has a hill record with a huge jump earlier.

1:59:18 > 1:59:25Will he come anywhere close here? No. And that reaction tells you he

1:59:25 > 1:59:29is a little frustrated not to go further. 130 metres is still

1:59:29 > 1:59:35reasonable. But he has done so much better, and I think he will do so

1:59:35 > 1:59:42much better in future. Remember this name for four years' time.

1:59:46 > 1:59:52A couple of 130 metre jumps for Kobayashi. That makes uncomfortably

1:59:52 > 1:59:57the best Japanese jumper here tonight. 20 metres or so ahead of

1:59:57 > 2:00:04anybody else from his country.

2:00:05 > 2:00:12There is the score. Japan will finish on 940.5, and they are second

2:00:12 > 2:00:21right now. Here comes Slovenia. Prevc, his last chance to have some

2:00:21 > 2:00:26kind of impact. They are in a battle with Austria. Three points behind.

2:00:26 > 2:00:34He had 134.5 metres before. That, again, would help.

2:00:34 > 2:00:39It is going to be a relatively close jump. Maybe a little bit further

2:00:39 > 2:00:46back? One metre back. 133.5.

2:00:47 > 2:00:49back? One metre back. 133.5. Prevc did not figure in the middle is the

2:00:49 > 2:00:53way he would have liked to. He was the silver medallist on the normal

2:00:53 > 2:00:57hill, the bronze medallist on the large hill. That never happened for

2:00:57 > 2:01:01him here. He was 12th and tenth instead. Beating Austria into fourth

2:01:01 > 2:01:07place. That would at least be something for Slovenia to leave the

2:01:07 > 2:01:15Latics with. They have never won 8-team medal. It is only Peter Prevc

2:01:15 > 2:01:20that has made an impression in recent years. That is the Slovenian

2:01:20 > 2:01:26score. We know that Michael Hayboeck has to get Australia above the

2:01:26 > 2:01:33Slovenians. Already stressful enough for them to beat fighting for

2:01:33 > 2:01:38fourth. They don't want to finish fifth.

2:01:38 > 2:01:50Long! That should be enough to send Austria into fourth place overall.

2:01:50 > 2:01:57Into provisional first above Slovenia right now. Michael Hayboeck

2:01:57 > 2:02:03was the surprise leader after the first hill. He finished strongly and

2:02:03 > 2:02:05took sixth place in the end. It looks like he has delivered where it

2:02:05 > 2:02:11mattered. Austria don't have the strength to be competing for medals.

2:02:11 > 2:02:18But that is at least a promising way to end their ski jump Olympics.

2:02:24 > 2:02:28138.5, and Austria move 11 points ahead of Slovenia. It looks like

2:02:28 > 2:02:37they will settle for fourth. That means we have three jumpers to go

2:02:37 > 2:02:41and three medals to decide. Nothing those guys can do. It is down to

2:02:41 > 2:02:44these. Andreas Wellinger for Germany.

2:02:49 > 2:02:53He has an Olympic gold and Olympic silver already. He is going to get

2:02:53 > 2:02:58another medal. What colour is it going to be? It is quite long. He

2:02:58 > 2:03:08looks like he wanted a little bit more. 134.5. It opens the door a

2:03:08 > 2:03:15fraction for Poland.

2:03:17 > 2:03:20Andreas Wellinger, only 22 years old, still the only returning member

2:03:20 > 2:03:26of the German squad that won team gold in Sochi. Norway look right now

2:03:26 > 2:03:30like they are going to take that away from Germany this time around.

2:03:30 > 2:03:34But what a talent this man is, gold and silver. His team-mates have been

2:03:34 > 2:03:45standing there applauding all week. Here is Jiminy's final score.

2:03:45 > 2:03:531075.7. -- Germany. We'll see if the man who won gold on Saturday can

2:03:53 > 2:03:58poll above that,

2:04:00 > 2:04:06poll above that, Kamil Stoch. Three times and Olympic champion. He won

2:04:06 > 2:04:09the gold on Saturday and they smuggled crates of beer into the

2:04:09 > 2:04:12Olympic Village afterwards. Poland were just happy to be celebrating.

2:04:12 > 2:04:19Will they celebrate again?

2:04:19 > 2:04:23Will they celebrate again? 134.5. It matches Andreas Wellinger. We will

2:04:23 > 2:04:29go to the judges.

2:04:30 > 2:04:38Well, we had such a nail-biting finish between Wellinger and Stoch

2:04:38 > 2:04:44in the final. You can see Stoch Pratichetti cheering his nails

2:04:44 > 2:04:50through his gloves. In the end, he won by a narrow margin and Wellinger

2:04:50 > 2:04:55settled for silver. Now they are battling for medals on behalf of

2:04:55 > 2:05:00their country. Look at this from Kamil Stoch. Gliding into the

2:05:00 > 2:05:05landing, cushioning it so nicely. All they can do now is wait for the

2:05:05 > 2:05:13score. Look at those faces. Gripped on the screen. They are going to see

2:05:13 > 2:05:21it when you see it. They are second, 1072.4. They will at least take the

2:05:21 > 2:05:31bronze medal. But Germany stay ahead of them. Will it be silver or gold?

2:05:31 > 2:05:36Robert Johansson of Norway has about a 20 point cushion to play with. For

2:05:36 > 2:05:45him and for Norway, gold is just some whiskers away!

2:05:48 > 2:05:59Here he goes, for gold. It is long! It is clean! It is surely enough for

2:05:59 > 2:06:07gold. Gold for Robert Johansson. Gold for the team. They are on top

2:06:07 > 2:06:14of him already. He has been imperious all Olympics long. Two

2:06:14 > 2:06:19bronze medals. Now they are going to be champions at the team event for

2:06:19 > 2:06:24the first time in their history, which is mad, it is crazy! The

2:06:24 > 2:06:27Norwegians invented this. They have won 30 medals at the Olympics, they

2:06:27 > 2:06:32have never won the team event. The man who has captured so much

2:06:32 > 2:06:39attention around the world is the man who gets to glide home to gold

2:06:39 > 2:06:45on behalf of a whole nation. It is not official yet, but it was good.

2:06:45 > 2:06:51It was long. It was clean. It had everything it needed to win a gold

2:06:51 > 2:06:56medal. And it is just a matter of the score coming out in front of our

2:06:56 > 2:07:04faces any second now.

2:07:07 > 2:07:16There it is! It is gold. 1098.5. There will be no close shave in this

2:07:16 > 2:07:22Olympic team final. Robert Johansson delivers the gold for Norway. They

2:07:22 > 2:07:26will stand on top of that team podium step for the first time.

2:07:26 > 2:07:31There was whiskers are golden. Norway are your team ski jump

2:07:31 > 2:07:34Olympic champions.

2:07:37 > 2:07:41How many more can he dream up? I think that moustache should get a

2:07:41 > 2:07:44gold medal of its own. Absolutely fantastic. Extraordinary, that is

2:07:44 > 2:07:49their first gold medal ever in the team event. In fact, we have some

2:07:49 > 2:07:52bragging rights, as you know, the Finns love their ski jumping, and it

2:07:52 > 2:07:57means that Norway are officially one ahead of them in the overall gold

2:07:57 > 2:08:06medal count in ski jumping in the Olympics, with 11, to the ten. The

2:08:06 > 2:08:09Norwegians are having their best games ever. When you think about it,

2:08:09 > 2:08:13the standards are crazy for them. They have already won 28 medal so

2:08:13 > 2:08:18far, and their previous best was 26. For Kamil Stoch and the Polish team,

2:08:18 > 2:08:23again, a first time on the podium in the team event. Happy days all-round

2:08:23 > 2:08:32for whisker wearers. We are now going to cut loose with margin,

2:08:32 > 2:08:35high-kicking and slashing. It is the ice hockey, the sharp end of the

2:08:35 > 2:08:39women's ice hockey. It is semi-final time. We have the USA up against

2:08:39 > 2:08:44Finland in the first. Finland have been on the podium twice, but only

2:08:44 > 2:08:47with a bronze medal. This US side contains six of the members of the

2:08:47 > 2:08:51team who claimed silver behind Canada four years ago. They are

2:08:51 > 2:08:57itching for the chance to upgrade that. They guaranteed silver on

2:08:57 > 2:09:01offer in the first semifinal, watched by Kate Simpson and Seth

2:09:01 > 2:09:07Bennett.

2:09:07 > 2:09:10Game day on semifinals day in the women's tournament. This is the

2:09:10 > 2:09:15opportunity. The opportunity for four teams to state their case for

2:09:15 > 2:09:22gold.

2:09:22 > 2:09:29This could be a chance? Yes! The Americans have the lead. Marvin

2:09:29 > 2:09:38found time and space. Out in front, and that is what it means to her in

2:09:38 > 2:09:49a semifinal. Huge mistake by the Finns. The US get the starter this

2:09:49 > 2:09:56game they want.

2:10:14 > 2:10:23This could be a chance! What a finish that was!

2:10:23 > 2:10:29finish that was! Cameranesi, the US capitalising on Finnish mistakes.

2:10:29 > 2:10:33Two goals could be enough to send them to the gold medal game. A huge

2:10:33 > 2:10:38giveaway in the zone, and before they had blinked, it was in the back

2:10:38 > 2:10:46of their own net. What anticipation from Cameranesi. Looking to the

2:10:46 > 2:10:56middle of the ice. What a shot. Short side.

2:10:56 > 2:11:06Interesting from

2:11:07 > 2:11:11Brant row. Monica could not handle it again. It went into her skater.

2:11:11 > 2:11:16It was a nice play from Brant. Getting this one all the way across.

2:11:16 > 2:11:20Too far wide.

2:11:29 > 2:11:34Here is Cameranesi, putting it on a tight angle. Ten more seconds with a

2:11:34 > 2:11:40two player advantage. They want to go back door.

2:11:40 > 2:11:46Another opportunity, and they convert.

2:11:48 > 2:11:53convert. Five on three power play. The USA are steam-rollering towards

2:11:53 > 2:11:59the gold-medal game. Too much, too strong, and Finland cannot handle

2:11:59 > 2:12:06them.

2:12:06 > 2:12:10them. Great finish from Jocelyne Lamoureux. And that is another goal.

2:12:10 > 2:12:16Finally, it comes.

2:12:16 > 2:12:18Finally, it comes. 6.05 remaining in the second period. For Hilary

2:12:18 > 2:12:24Knight, this has been the

2:12:25 > 2:12:30Knight, this has been the wait and the US are well on their way.It

2:12:30 > 2:12:34will be a message for Team Canada, to say that this America team came

2:12:34 > 2:12:37out and dominated, we have got to come out and do the same thing

2:12:37 > 2:12:45against the LA are in the semifinal. -- against the OAR. That is a

2:12:45 > 2:12:54wonderful finish.Beautiful play from the Americans.

2:12:54 > 2:12:56from the Americans. They are sensational right now. There is very

2:12:56 > 2:13:00little that Finland can do about this. Cameranesi claims his second

2:13:00 > 2:13:05of the game.

2:13:05 > 2:13:09The USA through to the final, but who would they face? All of Canada

2:13:09 > 2:13:17was expecting a semifinal against the Olympic athletes from Russia to

2:13:17 > 2:13:24be easy enough, they are going for a fifth medal. They thumped the

2:13:24 > 2:13:27Russians 5-0 in the group game. Could they had them for six this

2:13:27 > 2:13:29time? Let's see.

2:13:39 > 2:13:45Spooner, playing it in front. Wonderful opening goal for

2:13:45 > 2:13:49Wakefield. Again, it is the creativity of Spooner. So big and

2:13:49 > 2:13:55strong. The Canadian forward, whose family are from just outside

2:13:55 > 2:14:01Manchester, delivering a beautiful pass for Wakefield. Canada are

2:14:01 > 2:14:08already on the board.Terrific work by the two Canadian forwards. It

2:14:08 > 2:14:12looks like she's going to go behind the net, and then she throws it back

2:14:12 > 2:14:16towards Jennifer Wakefield. Look at the netminder. She just leaves her

2:14:16 > 2:14:23post ever so slightly. That creates a little opening on the short side.

2:14:23 > 2:14:25Just couldn't get enough with her glove.

2:14:38 > 2:14:47Scores! Something out of nothing. When Canada needed a shot in the

2:14:47 > 2:14:53arm, their inspirational captain delivered. With a two goal lead,

2:14:53 > 2:15:00they have one foot in another Olympic final.

2:15:00 > 2:15:12Olympic final. What a nice backhand. White starts the play, creating a

2:15:12 > 2:15:20couple of OAR players coming to her. Moving it over to Poulin?.

2:15:33 > 2:15:37At The Side Of The Net, Wakefield. She scores. Tight angle effort and

2:15:37 > 2:15:38she powers that one

2:15:38 > 2:15:43She scores. Tight angle effort and she powers that one through. They

2:15:43 > 2:15:47couldn't close the door, couldn't keep it out and Canada are on their

2:15:47 > 2:15:56way to the Olympic final for a fifth Winter Olympic gold medal in a row.

2:16:00 > 2:16:04Canada will come forward again. There was a trip there. And another

2:16:04 > 2:16:13goal. The players seemed to pause and wait and Emily Clark cashes in.

2:16:13 > 2:16:19Two minutes into the final session, and Canada score two quick goals,

2:16:19 > 2:16:25and they now will be heading without doubt for a meeting, a date with

2:16:25 > 2:16:32destiny, a date with the archrivals, a date with the USA in the Olympic

2:16:32 > 2:16:42final yet again. The Russians can't clear their own zone. Slap pass. How

2:16:42 > 2:16:49did that not go in from Johnson? This time, she does get there. If at

2:16:49 > 2:16:55first, you don't succeed, try, try and try again. Johnson collected it,

2:16:55 > 2:16:58dispatched its second time, third goal of the tournament for her. And

2:16:58 > 2:17:02Canada now have their fifth, and they have their first power play

2:17:02 > 2:17:08goal of the night as they had comfortably into the Olympic final

2:17:08 > 2:17:15once again.I love the second effort here. Melodie Daoust is a player we

2:17:15 > 2:17:19have talked about, and the impact she has had. Faked shot. Then

2:17:19 > 2:17:26Rebecca Johnson does a great job to stay on the park. With the net

2:17:26 > 2:17:34minders behind her, he fired it high. And that was the know doubt

2:17:34 > 2:17:40one, the rebound off the crossbar. No one knew where it was except for

2:17:40 > 2:17:41Babek Johnstone.

2:17:43 > 2:17:47Canada will be able to celebrate here because, despite making hard

2:17:47 > 2:17:54work of it for much of this game, they are the ones that will go on

2:17:54 > 2:17:58and, once again, they keep that perfect record, reaching every

2:17:58 > 2:18:02single women's Ice Hockey Challenge gold-medal match. So the reigning

2:18:02 > 2:18:11four time Olympic champions will face the four time reigning world

2:18:11 > 2:18:12champions, the USA against team Canada.

2:18:13 > 2:18:18For the sixth time in seven occasions in which women's eyes oche

2:18:18 > 2:18:23has been included, it is USA against Canada, surprise, surprise. The IOC

2:18:23 > 2:18:27has announced the women's ice oche competition will be extended from

2:18:27 > 2:18:33eight to ten teams in Beijing, 2022. But it will be the same two in the

2:18:33 > 2:18:37final regardless of what they do, but it should be a great final on

2:18:37 > 2:18:41Thursday. Plenty more on ice action, some of it with a dash of

2:18:41 > 2:18:47refinement, some of it with a dash of raw speed.

2:18:48 > 2:18:52Jenny Coomes and Nick Buckland face the music in the ice dance in their

2:18:52 > 2:18:55third Olympic Games, they have beaten long odds just to be here.

2:18:55 > 2:19:01They will be going like the clappers today in the men's 500 metres,

2:19:01 > 2:19:07shortest of the long track races, 35 seconds worth of explosive skating.

2:19:07 > 2:19:10Bursting with adrenaline, there is some testosterone flying around as

2:19:10 > 2:19:17well. The final runs in the two man bob. The snowboard riders have

2:19:17 > 2:19:21dropped into the half pipe already, now the free skiers get their

2:19:21 > 2:19:26chance, what could possibly go wrong?

2:19:26 > 2:19:31And new for 2018, snowboard big air create a big impression on its games

2:19:31 > 2:19:34debut, Britain's Aimee Fuller one of the women making Olympic history

2:19:34 > 2:19:37today. And we are very delighted to welcome

2:19:37 > 2:19:42another woman who made Olympic history, Jayne Torvill, gold

2:19:42 > 2:19:45medallist, bronze medallist, wonderful to have you with us. We

2:19:45 > 2:19:52have been chatting away to your on ice partner, Crist, what have you in

2:19:52 > 2:19:58joints over?I have watched as much as I can. The figure skating, I have

2:19:58 > 2:20:02enjoyed watching the snowboarding and the tricks they do. It's nice to

2:20:02 > 2:20:07have new sports in the Olympics. It sure is. When you look at some of

2:20:07 > 2:20:17the ice-skating, Chris choreographed the routine. More than the odd echo

2:20:17 > 2:20:23of Bolero in there, we thought.Of course. I know he worked with them,

2:20:23 > 2:20:27but hadn't seen the routine. I saw it and they were wearing purple

2:20:27 > 2:20:35costumes. I was, like, whoa. It was fitting that...Yeah. Good timing on

2:20:35 > 2:20:40your part, because you are here for the ice dance, we will enjoy the

2:20:40 > 2:20:44short dance, but you will know over the last few days, we have been

2:20:44 > 2:20:47having a Daly should opt for Bill and Dean, a scout through the back

2:20:47 > 2:20:53archives of your greatest hits. Because it is the of short dance

2:20:53 > 2:20:57that they can't we thought we would pick your last competitive outing in

2:20:57 > 2:20:59Lily hammer.

2:21:01 > 2:21:06It was the rumba, and that is today's time-out.

2:23:28 > 2:23:32COMMENTATOR: Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean skating at their

2:23:32 > 2:23:41best. The feeling, the moves, and some of those neat, little moves

2:23:41 > 2:23:46that caught the public's imagination and those British supporters, I must

2:23:46 > 2:23:50say that there are more flowers coming onto the ice following Jane

2:23:50 > 2:23:54and Chris's programme than we have seen at any time during these

2:23:54 > 2:23:56championships.

2:23:58 > 2:24:03STUDIO: Watching that, what was it like sitting through that, when did

2:24:03 > 2:24:07you last see it?Not for a long time. It was interesting to try to

2:24:07 > 2:24:11remember the steps as they were happening, but there are a few

2:24:11 > 2:24:14moments in there which I remember because they work the difficult bits

2:24:14 > 2:24:18we had to work on many times. That was officially your last victory,

2:24:18 > 2:24:25because you won that small dance. In the ice dance at the time, there was

2:24:25 > 2:24:29a compulsory dance section, the original dance and free dance. In

2:24:29 > 2:24:34the original dance, we came first. Going into the free dance, we were

2:24:34 > 2:24:38Lions first overall, but then it didn't work after then. -- lying

2:24:38 > 2:24:44first.We talked to Chris about the somersault and how the judges didn't

2:24:44 > 2:24:49really seem to go for that, but you were in a no-win situation. You came

2:24:49 > 2:24:56into play by the rules, but were judged Fritz Lee.It was a difficult

2:24:56 > 2:25:01one, -- differently. Turning amateur, we wanted to come back and

2:25:01 > 2:25:05not be the ones trying to break all the rules. So we listen to

2:25:05 > 2:25:12everything. What they originally wanted was lots of footwork, going

2:25:12 > 2:25:15back to ballroom dancing. At the European Championships, which we

2:25:15 > 2:25:22actually won, we did a lot more basic dance routines, with not many

2:25:22 > 2:25:28lifts. Going out of that, they said we needed more highlights. We

2:25:28 > 2:25:32revamped the whole programme and put big moves in. We were told the

2:25:32 > 2:25:34somersault wasn't allowed, even though it was at the end of the

2:25:34 > 2:25:39programme. Never mind. If you've got lots of questions, I'm

2:25:39 > 2:25:45sure you have, ask

2:25:45 > 2:25:49sure you have, ask Jane. The rumba is something we will hear again,

2:25:49 > 2:25:52because the British pair of Penny Coomes and Nick Buckland will use it

2:25:52 > 2:25:56as well. We are looking forward to that.Any and Nick asked Chris to

2:25:56 > 2:26:01work with them over the summer, and they wanted to use that music. They

2:26:01 > 2:26:06asked if they could use that music. Within their routine, there are a

2:26:06 > 2:26:10couple of steps that they asked if they could use as a tribute to us,

2:26:10 > 2:26:14which is very endearing. It is indeed. After a litany of injuries,

2:26:14 > 2:26:21the fact they are at a third Olympic Games is extraordinary. It is a

2:26:21 > 2:26:26miracle, really.

2:26:39 > 2:26:44It's so hard to train for an Olympics when you are healthy. You

2:26:44 > 2:26:51push your body to the absolute limit every day. There's only so much your

2:26:51 > 2:27:00body can deal with. In a second, my life changed.

2:27:00 > 2:27:04Figure skater Penny Coomes has suffered career threatening knee

2:27:04 > 2:27:07injuries in training, which could end her hopes of competing at the

2:27:07 > 2:27:09Winter Olympics.

2:27:13 > 2:27:17Like that, I'm on the floor with half of my kneecap here, and the

2:27:17 > 2:27:20other half down here. I remember crying, not from the pain, but from

2:27:20 > 2:27:27what could be. And yeah, I've had the hardest year and a half of my

2:27:27 > 2:27:32life, but at the same time, it's the strongest I've ever had to be, and

2:27:32 > 2:27:36it's been a really rewarding time. That is a career ending injury for

2:27:36 > 2:27:4399 point numbers and people.Yeah. Definitely. We just didn't know what

2:27:43 > 2:27:50the way forward was, I think, once it happened, we put everything in

2:27:50 > 2:27:53perspective. It is only ice-skating, but it is something we have grown up

2:27:53 > 2:27:58with and that we absolutely adore. There was only one thing we were

2:27:58 > 2:28:03going to do, that was come back and pick up where we left off.

2:28:05 > 2:28:09So many people were, like, that's it, it is done and you can't come

2:28:09 > 2:28:15back from this. I remember reading those things and being so mad. I

2:28:15 > 2:28:18channelled that energy. I remember at our combat using that energy and

2:28:18 > 2:28:23being out there, and being, this is all the people that thought I can't

2:28:23 > 2:28:28do this, because I can.

2:28:34 > 2:28:39Not every day was a good day, and I didn't do it on my own. When I was

2:28:39 > 2:28:46down, I had my physio, my psychologist, Simon, and of course

2:28:46 > 2:28:51Nick. For me, at one point, I said to him, "I don't know if I can do

2:28:51 > 2:28:56this. I don't know that my knee will be strong enough again." He just

2:28:56 > 2:29:00said, "That's OK." And I think I needed to hear that in order to get

2:29:00 > 2:29:05better.In Michigan, this is where you are based, why here?

2:29:05 > 2:29:11Funnily enough, Michigan is an ice dance hub, there are three big ice

2:29:11 > 2:29:16dance camps, and Igor is one of the best in the world. We have come here

2:29:16 > 2:29:20for the last four years and trained with a lot of our rivals, I guess,

2:29:20 > 2:29:24which spurs us on every day in training, which is an interesting

2:29:24 > 2:29:27dynamic. But we get on really well and it is really cool.

2:29:27 > 2:29:33What does Pyeongchang represent for you?

2:29:35 > 2:29:43I'm sorry... It's just so emotional, because you know, this has always

2:29:43 > 2:29:49been my goal. When we first set out, we said we would do an Olympic

2:29:49 > 2:29:55Games, and Pyeongchang, we always said we would be our best here. To

2:29:55 > 2:30:03have that taken away... I feel like I've learnt it tenfold before I've

2:30:03 > 2:30:07even got there.Going out there after what we have been through will

2:30:07 > 2:30:13be a fitting end to this period of our lives. But the best bit is, kind

2:30:13 > 2:30:16of, yet to come.

2:30:16 > 2:30:23Penny has come through a career threatening knee injury, Nick had

2:30:23 > 2:30:27heart surgery. How much do you admire their efforts just to be in

2:30:27 > 2:30:30Pyeongchang?They have been through so much. I would just like to wish

2:30:30 > 2:30:35them good luck for the free dance. Indeed, I am sure there will be

2:30:35 > 2:30:44delighted to hear this. This is what they have been working towards, they

2:30:44 > 2:30:47have not been able to do them before, and here they are. Watching

2:30:47 > 2:30:52a lot of luck. How difficult is it as a skater, in

2:30:52 > 2:30:56any discipline, to come back after injuries in your sport? As you said

2:30:56 > 2:30:59earlier, it is externally unforgiving, the surface that you

2:30:59 > 2:31:05are working on. You suffered some injuries?1983, we were training for

2:31:05 > 2:31:09the European Championships. That was the year we did the Bolero routine.

2:31:09 > 2:31:16In one point, I was flying to the air horizontally, and Chris had hold

2:31:16 > 2:31:21of my arms. He tripped and he could not twist me to land. I just landed

2:31:21 > 2:31:26from a great height, right on my hip. My first thought was that I had

2:31:26 > 2:31:30broken my leg or my hip, because it was a really big impact. But then I

2:31:30 > 2:31:35stood up, I this we had broken my leg. -- I obviously had not broken

2:31:35 > 2:31:39my leg. I was feeling tingling in my arm and could not lift it. The force

2:31:39 > 2:31:45that we had between us, the pull, had pulled the ligaments around my

2:31:45 > 2:31:52shoulder blade and fractured it. The devastating thing for us was missing

2:31:52 > 2:31:55the European Championships. I'm not sure how long it was before, but it

2:31:55 > 2:32:01was not long enough to recover. I was in constant physio.I am sure

2:32:01 > 2:32:04you remember the physical difficulties of recovering, but

2:32:04 > 2:32:11mentally, I am sure you can empathise with Penny?Yes, what she

2:32:11 > 2:32:16touched on their is that she has done so much rehab and physio that,

2:32:16 > 2:32:20in some ways, she is probably stronger, coming back, having all of

2:32:20 > 2:32:24that work on it, the rest of the body, it is probably stronger.

2:32:24 > 2:32:28Having that time to train for a bit longer, having had to miss some of

2:32:28 > 2:32:31the competitions. That is how I felt, going into the World

2:32:31 > 2:32:35Championships. I had more time to train for it somehow. Mentally, that

2:32:35 > 2:32:40helped me.We will see how they do in a short dance. The favourites,

2:32:40 > 2:32:48Tessa virtue and Scott Moore. They went away from the sport, but it was

2:32:48 > 2:32:54the lure of competition that brought them back. Jane will remember that!

2:32:54 > 2:33:03No phone votes required in the Olympic version of Dancing On Ice.

2:33:04 > 2:33:10Here they are, Great Britain's comeback kid is, 20 months ago,

2:33:10 > 2:33:13Penny shattered her kneecap into eight pieces. They missed most of

2:33:13 > 2:33:17last season and she was reconstructed, rehabilitated. A

2:33:17 > 2:33:24battle to defy the odds, for the third time at deal of the games.

2:36:18 > 2:36:22She was told she would never skate again, but Penny Coombs and Nick

2:36:22 > 2:36:28Buckland are back on Olympic ice. Here they are. What will it mean to

2:36:28 > 2:36:33them to be back?Amazing. The first event of the season for them was the

2:36:33 > 2:36:39qualifying event in Germany. They qualified and they won the event.

2:36:39 > 2:36:45They got Team GB the spot. That was their last possible chance to

2:36:45 > 2:36:49qualify for the games, they needed to come back and win. And they did.

2:36:49 > 2:36:56They have done everything asked of them.

2:36:56 > 2:37:06them. 68.36. A season best is 71.9. We have seen the scores from the

2:37:06 > 2:37:10judges a little bit down from what you would expect. They leap to the

2:37:10 > 2:37:12top of the leaderboard with that performance. They have a

2:37:12 > 2:37:15qualification mark against their name and they are through to

2:37:15 > 2:37:17tomorrow's free skate.

2:37:20 > 2:37:28One of two Canadian pairs to skate in this group. Top ten for four

2:37:28 > 2:37:33successive years. Not selected former years ago. They are lucky to

2:37:33 > 2:37:36make their mark on this Olympics instead. I am delighted to say we

2:37:36 > 2:37:40are joined in the commentary box by Nick Buckland and Penny will

2:37:40 > 2:37:41hopefully join us in a bit.

2:37:48 > 2:37:59Personalised boots, too.

2:38:13 > 2:38:21Cleanly through the synchronised

2:38:21 > 2:38:31twizzles. Unusual pattern on the ice, to see them done that way.

2:38:31 > 2:38:38They always provide different music choices. I am always interested to

2:38:38 > 2:38:51see what they come out with, Pipe band Paul. -- Piper and Paul.

2:40:18 > 2:40:21That looked like it was a little bit ahead of the music to me. I don't

2:40:21 > 2:40:26know if they will get caught on it. It had looked a little bit ahead of

2:40:26 > 2:40:27the music.

2:40:33 > 2:40:38Great change of position, there. That, ladies and gentlemen, is the

2:40:38 > 2:40:40voice of Penny Coombs!

2:40:43 > 2:40:47Penny, squeezing into the commentary box just a few seconds before the

2:40:47 > 2:40:55end of Piper and Paul's routine. They always bring something new to

2:40:55 > 2:40:59the table, they are very creative. There was a lot of nice costume

2:40:59 > 2:41:04features in that, which always makes us smile. Definitely an enjoyable

2:41:04 > 2:41:10couple.Only Paul could pull those sleeves off.

2:41:12 > 2:41:1669.60. Bumped off for now, is that what you would expect from these

2:41:16 > 2:41:21two? They are quality? We have always been close with Piper and

2:41:21 > 2:41:25Paul. I was expecting something around that mark. It is definitely

2:41:25 > 2:41:29within reaching distance in the free dance. We will be in the same group

2:41:29 > 2:41:33as them, the judges will be able to directly compare. They have targets

2:41:33 > 2:41:39on their backs now?Absolutely! The second Canadian pair of the ultimate

2:41:39 > 2:41:49group in the short programme. Kaitlyn Weaver and Andrew Poje. They

2:41:49 > 2:41:56came seventh in Sochi four years ago. Another quality couple to come

2:41:56 > 2:41:59out of Canada, with Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir yet to come.

2:42:05 > 2:42:15They have such depth, the Canadians, in their high -- I stand squat. --

2:42:15 > 2:42:19ice dance squad. It is a difficult thing for these two to deal with,

2:42:19 > 2:42:23but it is pushed all of the Canadian teams. I think it is only a good

2:42:23 > 2:42:25thing Canadian ice skaters.

2:43:16 > 2:43:19These two have chosen slightly different music to everybody else,

2:43:19 > 2:43:23their theme is Cuban street music, so it is different in flavour.

2:43:28 > 2:43:33How difficult is it to choose music you are happy and excited to dance

2:43:33 > 2:43:38too for a whole season? It is very important. You make that decision

2:43:38 > 2:43:42early in the season. Usually you keep it to the end. You've got to be

2:43:42 > 2:43:47just as happy listening to it, seven or eight months later, as when you

2:43:47 > 2:43:55first played it. That is a big ask.

2:44:01 > 2:44:04A couple of yellow boxes in the top left-hand corner, that means there

2:44:04 > 2:44:09are some elements out for review for the judges.A little hesitation on

2:44:09 > 2:44:14his first twizzle. That might be an element which is up for review on

2:44:14 > 2:44:22top of the ones that have possibly already been. They are down for a

2:44:22 > 2:44:26level four step sequence, which means you have to have 100% clear

2:44:26 > 2:44:29turns, and that is really difficult. That is probably why it is under

2:44:29 > 2:44:35review.

2:45:06 > 2:45:11The blade was so close to his nose! Changes of position, there were many

2:45:11 > 2:45:17changes of position. It looks like there is a smear of something on her

2:45:17 > 2:45:21side, I wonder if it is lipstick? I don't think it is blood. It could

2:45:21 > 2:45:26easily have been if that was any closer to his face! Is it funny

2:45:26 > 2:45:29sitting up in the commentary box and watching all of the skaters come

2:45:29 > 2:45:34next? Do you normally do that or just disappear? We will watch

2:45:34 > 2:45:37things. Obviously we watch the competition to speak about it. Now

2:45:37 > 2:45:42we can speak about it to everybody at home as well.Share your

2:45:42 > 2:45:48expertise and insight. Any, since we have you appear, we have talked

2:45:48 > 2:45:50about the recovery and mental strength it took for you, it was

2:45:50 > 2:45:56going to be an emotional moment stepping onto Olympic ice again. How

2:45:56 > 2:46:00did it feel?Felt amazing. I was just so proud. I stepped out there

2:46:00 > 2:46:04and thought, right, this is it, nobody can take this away from me. I

2:46:04 > 2:46:09am actually here. There were times, even a couple of months ago, when my

2:46:09 > 2:46:12knee was not cooperating with the training load. You kind of wonder,

2:46:12 > 2:46:16am I going to make it, was the last year and a half with it? Definitely

2:46:16 > 2:46:20had a lot of smiles to myself when I was looking at the Olympic rings.

2:46:20 > 2:46:24Great feeling.

2:46:24 > 2:46:29yours is such a story of determination and grit, and sheer

2:46:29 > 2:46:32strength.There is a smear of something on his hand. I think it

2:46:32 > 2:46:36could be blood on his hand.A lot of the time when you do these twizzle

2:46:36 > 2:46:44sequences and you catch your blade, that happens. You just need to catch

2:46:44 > 2:46:49the blade as quick as you possibly can. That's the one thing going

2:46:49 > 2:46:58through the skater's mind.74.33, way down on their season best, but

2:46:58 > 2:47:02enough to catapult them to the top of the standings. We have a Canadian

2:47:02 > 2:47:111-2 Finau, with Penny and Nick in third.

2:47:11 > 2:47:13third. --

2:47:16 > 2:47:23the USA, three time championship medallists, three medals in the bag

2:47:23 > 2:47:30already. These two are Marmite, aren't they, when it comes to ice

2:47:30 > 2:47:34dance. You either love the fact that they are brother and sister and the

2:47:34 > 2:47:38dynamic it brings, or you find it uncomfortable to watch. It is a

2:47:38 > 2:47:42difficult one. It is one they have had to deal with their whole

2:47:42 > 2:47:47careers. They have found themselves in the last couple of years. But you

2:47:47 > 2:47:52know, they have had a very good season. They have done some very

2:47:52 > 2:47:55good programmes, and they always super-clean, these guys, like

2:47:55 > 2:48:04machines.

2:48:22 > 2:48:27A little bit of a stumble on that twizzle, actually. We will see if

2:48:27 > 2:48:36that plays a part in their level. They won bronze at the last World

2:48:36 > 2:48:39Championships, do you think they will be pushing for a podium place

2:48:39 > 2:48:43again here?I think so. There are three really strong American teams,

2:48:43 > 2:48:49so there is a miniature competition within the games themselves with

2:48:49 > 2:48:58those three teams. They are battling it out between themselves as well.

2:48:58 > 2:49:01These two are very clean and everything goes very well to the

2:49:01 > 2:49:08music.As we see right here, right now.

2:49:26 > 2:49:33Just struggling with a bit of speed here, the last bit of the programme

2:49:33 > 2:49:41looked a little slow to me. But again, super, super clean.

2:49:57 > 2:50:01A lot of tempo changes within this news it as well, the music is going

2:50:01 > 2:50:05up and down depending on what tempo they need for the specific element

2:50:05 > 2:50:10they are doing, which is very interesting.

2:50:16 > 2:50:31All the precision you'd expect. They are neat as hens, aren't they.It

2:50:31 > 2:50:35was a strong performance. They did what they needed to do. They have a

2:50:35 > 2:50:39midline sequence, a level four, which is a high-scoring element, but

2:50:39 > 2:50:46you expect nothing less from them.

2:50:46 > 2:50:52We have new leaders, then, ten won and Alex Shibutani of the United

2:50:52 > 2:51:01States. Their countrymen come up next -- Maia and Alex Shibutani. The

2:51:01 > 2:51:08next team are our favourites because we train with them.Penny and Nick

2:51:08 > 2:51:13backing these guys, Madison Chock and Evan Bates. Two time

2:51:13 > 2:51:16championship medallists, skating together for seven years. I believe

2:51:16 > 2:51:20they started dating a year ago. So it will be a different dynamic on

2:51:20 > 2:51:26the ice compared to the Shib-Shibs. They are really nice people to train

2:51:26 > 2:51:34and see every day.See if that spark makes a difference here, then.

2:52:08 > 2:52:16Little mistake on the third twizzle. It will cost them a level there, I

2:52:16 > 2:52:20think. I think that would make that level two, which will cost them some

2:52:20 > 2:52:24points.

2:53:28 > 2:53:36Great composure, a nice, clean sequence there.

2:53:37 > 2:53:41APPLAUSE

2:53:45 > 2:53:48As your training mates, you must know this programme yourselves

2:53:48 > 2:53:53inside out, almost on sing along with it daily in, day out.It is

2:53:53 > 2:53:56nice to train along side them because we push each other when we

2:53:56 > 2:54:06are doing harder training days. It is competitive as well. You want to

2:54:06 > 2:54:11make sure they do a good run through and perform a good one, too. It is a

2:54:11 > 2:54:22healthy version ship we have with these guys.

2:54:24 > 2:54:29Bags of Latin heat in there. You said there were a couple of

2:54:29 > 2:54:33mistakes, but the judges haven't marked them down.We can see that,

2:54:33 > 2:54:37actually, they're synchronised twizzle 's at the moment are not

2:54:37 > 2:54:42under review, they are on the system as level four. That was a big,

2:54:42 > 2:54:45obvious mistake on the third twizzles from Evan. I will be

2:54:45 > 2:54:49surprised if they don't pick that up.They will be pleased with the

2:54:49 > 2:54:52performance. They looked like they felt the energy of the crowd and got

2:54:52 > 2:54:56into it with the dancing section towards the end. For me, watching

2:54:56 > 2:54:59it, I thought it was one of their better run through is, so I think

2:54:59 > 2:55:05they will be very happy. It is a new season's best for Madison Chock and

2:55:05 > 2:55:09Evan Bates. You were right, guys, they will be happy with that. 75.45

2:55:09 > 2:55:16for the Americans, but it's not enough to push them above Maia

2:55:16 > 2:55:21Shibutani and Alex Shibutani, their team-mates from Team USA in the lead

2:55:21 > 2:55:26for now after that penalty in the groups. It is time to say thank you

2:55:26 > 2:55:30to Nick and Penny. Thank you for joining us. Best of luck tomorrow.

2:55:30 > 2:55:35Thank you for having us.Plans for tonight? No, we sleep are, we great

2:55:35 > 2:55:41sleepers.

2:55:41 > 2:55:46Nick and ten free Mac have headed off, Robin Cousins is back to claim

2:55:46 > 2:55:50his rightful place in the commentary box for what is going to be a really

2:55:50 > 2:55:54great final five skaters in this short programme of the ice dance

2:55:54 > 2:56:01competition. Nick and Penny have headed off. It has been cat and

2:56:01 > 2:56:06mouse between these two couples for the top spot in the sport over the

2:56:06 > 2:56:10last couple of seasons, and it's time now to find out who will come

2:56:10 > 2:56:17out on top when it comes to the Olympics. In the short dance.Well,

2:56:17 > 2:56:21no. Over the next two days, we will find out who comes out on top,

2:56:21 > 2:56:26because it will be a battle between these two, Tessa Virtue and Scott

2:56:26 > 2:56:33Moir, and the French couple who will skate afterwards, Gabriella

2:56:33 > 2:56:40Papadakis and Aguillon size

2:56:41 > 2:56:44Papadakis and Aguillon size wrong -- Guillaume Cizeron.

2:57:08 > 2:57:19Terrific control. Headline through the steps sequence.

2:57:26 > 2:57:28Into the Rumba.

2:58:56 > 2:59:00Safely through the twizzles.

2:59:09 > 2:59:16Occasional lift to finish.

2:59:17 > 2:59:23And the world champions won that a Limerick title, only silver in

2:59:23 > 2:59:27Sochi, they took a couple of years away from competition, but they were

2:59:27 > 2:59:34still training, still working. They came back last year to win the World

2:59:34 > 2:59:39Championship.Quite a stark contrast between the Canadians and the French

2:59:39 > 2:59:48team, but they absolutely execute the style. It has a slight element

2:59:48 > 2:59:51of spontaneity with the performance itself. It has to be precise and it

2:59:51 > 2:59:56has Doobie clean with the footwork. The timings throughout the twizzles

2:59:56 > 3:00:04-- has to B clean. A season's best in the short dance

3:00:04 > 3:00:10at the Olympic Games. They are out for that gold medal. And a new world

3:00:10 > 3:00:14top score for short dance. Record-breaking, they have put

3:00:14 > 3:00:17themselves in the best possible position to claim that Olympic title

3:00:17 > 3:00:23to go with the gold they won back in Vancouver back in 2010. Beat that,

3:00:23 > 3:00:31they say. When you come to ice dance, you are one team or the

3:00:31 > 3:00:36other. It is time for you to decide back home which you prefer. Here

3:00:36 > 3:00:41come the two time world champions, four-time European champions, they

3:00:41 > 3:00:44missed out on a place in Sochi last time out. This is their first

3:00:44 > 3:00:51Olympics. Odds on to come away with a medal.

3:02:08 > 3:02:15Oh! Wouldn't want that to happen mid-twizzle.

3:03:39 > 3:03:43Some costly mistakes creeping in. They will have lost ground on their

3:03:43 > 3:03:47training mates and rivals, Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir.I'm

3:03:47 > 3:03:52surprised, they have still been given level four on the twizzles.

3:03:52 > 3:03:55The pattern dance, though, just to sequence level three.

3:04:01 > 3:04:10Slightly off on the step into the second twizzle.

3:04:11 > 3:04:17Yes, second place for Gabriella

3:04:17 > 3:04:27Papadakis. The French pair go second into the free dance tomorrow. We

3:04:27 > 3:04:36have three other couples to skate after them.

3:04:36 > 3:04:41Skating at their first Olympics, they came out on top when it came to

3:04:41 > 3:04:47the teen USA rivalry. They were second in the short dance and the

3:04:47 > 3:04:55free dance. But they became national champions overall.

3:05:41 > 3:05:49The neckline not close to matching, there, one of the points from the

3:05:49 > 3:05:52feet point of view.

3:07:39 > 3:07:46A few mistakes from Madison and Zachary as well.

3:07:47 > 3:07:51Zachary as well. They made the correct turns within the Rumba

3:07:51 > 3:07:57sequence. One straight leg, one bent leg, within the middle of the key

3:07:57 > 3:08:03point was a bit odd to see.It is a new season best for Madison Hubbell

3:08:03 > 3:08:09and Zachary Donahue. 77.70 five. They are up to third place.

3:08:21 > 3:08:302018 European silver medallists, Dmitri Soloviev and Ekaterina

3:08:30 > 3:08:35Bobrova. They lost out to Canada at the start of the games. We saw this

3:08:35 > 3:08:41short programme performed back then as well. I think the earrings are

3:08:41 > 3:08:48designed to keep her shoulders clean!

3:09:08 > 3:09:11Safely through the synchronised twizzles.

3:11:10 > 3:11:13Just be rotational lift to go.

3:11:23 > 3:11:26Well, the Russian cheer squad getting behind that one, as you

3:11:26 > 3:11:30would expect, but it will not be enough to push the world champions,

3:11:30 > 3:11:36Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir. They have fours for all of the tech

3:11:36 > 3:11:42elements. But the green boxes for the grades of execution are not as

3:11:42 > 3:11:48high. Not as many plus scores, probably no plus threes in there.

3:11:48 > 3:11:55The lead line, not matching on the twizzles. -- late line.I just think

3:11:55 > 3:11:59twizzles is a rubbish name! They are so technical and difficult, twizzles

3:11:59 > 3:12:03makes them sound...

3:12:04 > 3:12:07Split the Americans.

3:12:11 > 3:12:17Just a marker or so down on the season's best skate for them, and

3:12:17 > 3:12:23they are in fifth. Two American couples above them. One below them.

3:12:23 > 3:12:29This is our final couple to skate today. Anna Cappellini and Luca

3:12:29 > 3:12:34Lanotte of Italy. The 2014 world champions. They are six time Italian

3:12:34 > 3:12:40national champions. They just missed out on the European medal, in the

3:12:40 > 3:12:46recent championships, coming forth.

3:12:46 > 3:12:54It's her birthday today.

3:13:05 > 3:13:14Another couple for whom the Latin flavour is not necessarily natural.

3:13:14 > 3:13:24It suits him, I think, better than it does Anna

3:13:24 > 3:13:31It suits him, I think, better than it does Anna.

3:15:42 > 3:15:49It was claimed, it was strong. The birth date performance that Anna

3:15:49 > 3:15:52Cappellini once.Absolutely. Will she get the birthday present she

3:15:52 > 3:15:58wants? It will be low nines for their component scores. Skating

3:15:58 > 3:16:03skills and transitions, the lowest at this point. Interpretation and

3:16:03 > 3:16:09timing, the highest.It's a new season's best for Anna Cappellini

3:16:09 > 3:16:16and Luca Lanotte, 76.57. It is a birthday present she was hoping for.

3:16:16 > 3:16:24That puts them up into fifth in this short programme qualification. We

3:16:24 > 3:16:29are all set, Robin, for an exciting competition tomorrow. Confirmation

3:16:29 > 3:16:34of the qualification standing is. Madison Hubbell and Zachary Donahue

3:16:34 > 3:16:45in bronze medal position. The French pair just behind the leaders with a

3:16:45 > 3:16:48new world record, chasing down a second Olympic title, looking to

3:16:48 > 3:16:55come away from these games with two more gold medals.

3:16:55 > 3:16:59Your first taste of the Olympic ice, talk us through your feelings on the

3:16:59 > 3:17:05performance first of all.It was a tough one, considering the issue

3:17:05 > 3:17:11with the costume that we had. But you know, it was a totally great

3:17:11 > 3:17:18experience. We still managed to keep our focus and enjoy the moment. It

3:17:18 > 3:17:24could have been better, for sure. What is done is done, and we have to

3:17:24 > 3:17:30look forward now.It is always tight between yourselves and Tessa Virtue

3:17:30 > 3:17:35and Scott Moir. It is quite a rivalry you have developed.Yeah,

3:17:35 > 3:17:41it's true. In the past two years since we came back, we train

3:17:41 > 3:17:49together, too. We came here and we want to do our best. And that's what

3:17:49 > 3:17:52we're going to focus on. That was another fantastic

3:17:52 > 3:17:56performance, and what a time to put that down.Yeah, good timing.We

3:17:56 > 3:18:01know we need it, to be honest. It's not extremely comfortable skating

3:18:01 > 3:18:06first after the warm up, but it's good in a way that we know who is

3:18:06 > 3:18:10skating after us and we have to be strong. We are ready for that. We

3:18:10 > 3:18:15are happy the way we executed but we know there is a tonne of work to do

3:18:15 > 3:18:18tomorrow. Tomorrow is the main skate, we had to come out ready to

3:18:18 > 3:18:21go. How important is every point given

3:18:21 > 3:18:24the French couple are so strong as well? The field is extremely deep.

3:18:24 > 3:18:28We knew when we came back that we would have a lot of work to get back

3:18:28 > 3:18:33in the mix. And we are pleased with our performance today, and looking

3:18:33 > 3:18:37forward to executing the free dance tomorrow. We believe in our

3:18:37 > 3:18:40material, and the plan our coach set out for us at the beginning of the

3:18:40 > 3:18:45season. So far, we are on track. How happy are you with how it went

3:18:45 > 3:18:49out there?Very happy. It is something we have been striving for

3:18:49 > 3:18:52for a long time to get on the Olympic Stadium stop to go out and

3:18:52 > 3:19:00put a good performance in. It is really great. You have both been

3:19:00 > 3:19:04through it, but you with Yonny, how was it to be back on the Olympic

3:19:04 > 3:19:06Stadium? It is a different feeling going into

3:19:06 > 3:19:16competition. I have competition pressure, but I am excited to get

3:19:16 > 3:19:21out there. I smiled to myself because after everything I have been

3:19:21 > 3:19:23through, I made it and that is the most important thing.

3:19:23 > 3:19:28What can we expect tomorrow from the free dance? Watching you, you seemed

3:19:28 > 3:19:31to enjoy yourself out there. You have put a lot of work into getting

3:19:31 > 3:19:39here, what we don't do see?Our free dance is set to music by Muse. We

3:19:39 > 3:19:43love it so much that we decided to come back to it because we wanted to

3:19:43 > 3:19:50perform it one last time. It is just a programme that we love, it is

3:19:50 > 3:19:52exciting with core lifts and elements that I can't wait to

3:19:52 > 3:19:58perform.We can't wait to see you perform in it. Well done today.See

3:19:58 > 3:20:02you tomorrow. Thank you. Thank you.STUDIO: Let's talk about

3:20:02 > 3:20:07the couple out in front, the Canadians, Tessa and Scott, that was

3:20:07 > 3:20:12a world record. They beat their own world record in the short dance. For

3:20:12 > 3:20:16you, how did you like their Internet but they did a?It was, technically,

3:20:16 > 3:20:25there twizzles step sequences were very good and strong.

3:20:25 > 3:20:29There were a few moments, I would question, did she need to be on two

3:20:29 > 3:20:33feat. She did things that didn't need to count. It was part of the

3:20:33 > 3:20:41choreography. But thoroughly deserved to be in first place. It is

3:20:41 > 3:20:44a distinctive style. Completely at odds with what we saw from the

3:20:44 > 3:20:49French.It is so different. I find that sometimes they over perform.

3:20:49 > 3:20:54The danger of that is that sometimes you can make mistakes by over

3:20:54 > 3:21:02performing.In theatrical terms?I feel they should pull it back a

3:21:02 > 3:21:06little bit, because the skating is the thing that should be speaking,

3:21:06 > 3:21:13not the aggressive movements and so on.Less is more?Exactly. I find

3:21:13 > 3:21:18watching the French, even though today watching them was quite

3:21:18 > 3:21:21stressful, normally you can watch them with ease. If anything, they

3:21:21 > 3:21:25understate everything. I feel like the Canadians overstated. Having

3:21:25 > 3:21:32said that, the standard skating so high.

3:21:37 > 3:21:42This is Gabriella Papadakis and ten one. This is a difficult moment, the

3:21:42 > 3:21:45dress is coming down here. There is no way you cannot think about it. It

3:21:45 > 3:21:49is the last thing you want to think about at this point. You can see she

3:21:49 > 3:21:55loses a bit of control and they lose the Unison on the turns, which I

3:21:55 > 3:21:59have seen them do perfectly well in the past. If your dress is probably

3:21:59 > 3:22:04going to spin out in front of you, you don't know if that is what you

3:22:04 > 3:22:07thinking of instead of rotations. How much professionalism to get

3:22:07 > 3:22:10through that? They couldn't stop. No, they are not allowed to stop in

3:22:10 > 3:22:19this case. They had to carry on regardless. The fact it happened

3:22:19 > 3:22:22anyway is a freaky thing, what are the chances of it happening? They

3:22:22 > 3:22:26have used the costume is before many times.Has anything like that

3:22:26 > 3:22:29happened to you? How do you make sure it doesn't?The one thing that

3:22:29 > 3:22:33sticks in my mind is, as professionals, we performed in

3:22:33 > 3:22:39Madison Square Gardens, we had nervous excitement to be there. I

3:22:39 > 3:22:44had an adjustment to one of my dresses, and something happened, the

3:22:44 > 3:22:48angle of my body and my neck had unhooked it, and it was a halter

3:22:48 > 3:22:54neck. At least Gabby had straps here to keep part of her costume. Mine

3:22:54 > 3:22:58was ready to do this... I was dancing the whole routine swapping

3:22:58 > 3:23:03hands. There were points where I needed to hold Chris with two fans,

3:23:03 > 3:23:08we missed lifts and scrambled through it. I came off in tears

3:23:08 > 3:23:12because I was so upset and disappointed. But it never happened

3:23:12 > 3:23:15again.I'm sure it doesn't. I hope it doesn't happen to her again, but

3:23:15 > 3:23:20there are only two points between the two of them, and they share the

3:23:20 > 3:23:25same coach. There is a four point gap to the first Americans, but it

3:23:25 > 3:23:30is the second Americans, the Shib-Shibs, they have created all

3:23:30 > 3:23:34the headlines. They are brother and sister, the most celebrated of the

3:23:34 > 3:23:39American pairs.Yes, definitely. They are a great team. As brother

3:23:39 > 3:23:43and sister, I think the way they have handled the Rumba, which is

3:23:43 > 3:23:48essentially a love song, I think they have handled it really well and

3:23:48 > 3:23:52made it work for them. They have their Rumba rhythm in there and

3:23:52 > 3:23:57their samba. And they gave a great performance. But have just been

3:23:57 > 3:24:03picked by their team-mates.

3:24:05 > 3:24:06picked by their team-mates.Siblings have performed well before, it is

3:24:06 > 3:24:10not unheard of. Is it more difficult for a brother and sister pair to

3:24:10 > 3:24:18convey the emotions on the ice?I think it is. The dish a need pole

3:24:18 > 3:24:22did it well with the music, but when you have a rhythm like a Rumba, it

3:24:22 > 3:24:28is essentially a dance of love. You have to do it in a brother and

3:24:28 > 3:24:32sister way, because brothers and sisters love each other, too. What

3:24:32 > 3:24:39about the interpretation of Nick and Penny. Did they do it justice today,

3:24:39 > 3:24:44it was your son?I am so pleased for them. They look like they are

3:24:44 > 3:24:47enjoying every moment. You could see that really flowing out of them.

3:24:47 > 3:24:52They were so happy to be there, which is great, tents going into the

3:24:52 > 3:24:55free dance and we wish them well, of course.

3:24:55 > 3:24:59We have had lots of questions for you, one or two, and you have been

3:24:59 > 3:25:00asking Jayne

3:25:00 > 3:25:04you, one or two, and you have been asking Jayne. "I Never had the

3:25:04 > 3:25:07honour of watching you get your gold medals live, but how did you feel

3:25:07 > 3:25:10knowing you have the whole country watching you, did you feel the

3:25:10 > 3:25:17pressure? Or did you block it out?" How did you do it?At the time, you

3:25:17 > 3:25:20are in your bubble. We were in Surrey Ava, in the Olympic Village,

3:25:20 > 3:25:25and that was all there was. There was nothing outside of there for us,

3:25:25 > 3:25:31it was concentrated and focusing. Coming back many years later you

3:25:31 > 3:25:34realise how many people were watching. It is better if you don't

3:25:34 > 3:25:41know.You are probably right. We have seen Yuzuru Hanyu with Winnie

3:25:41 > 3:25:47the Poohs coming onto the ice. I saw a documentary, and Meghan says the

3:25:47 > 3:25:51same, "You collected all the cuddly toys and kept them. What have you

3:25:51 > 3:25:57done with them?"All through the years, turning professional and

3:25:57 > 3:26:00doing shows everywhere, I collected a lot of cuddly toys, and it got to

3:26:00 > 3:26:05a point where they needed their own house. There was too many of them. I

3:26:05 > 3:26:10did, as he has, gave a lot to charity. We shall see who throws the

3:26:10 > 3:26:16cuddly toys on tomorrow, or lots of bouquets. It has been great to have

3:26:16 > 3:26:19you with us. We look forward to the free dance tomorrow.

3:26:19 > 3:26:24We are staying on skates, but these babies don't have the toe picks,

3:26:24 > 3:26:29because it is time for some speed skating. Yesterday, there was a

3:26:29 > 3:26:33major, major event in the Oval, because it was the first time since

3:26:33 > 3:26:392010 that, in a speed skating event, a Dutch athlete did not get on the

3:26:39 > 3:26:44podium, extraordinary. It is a run of 19 events where there has been an

3:26:44 > 3:26:49orange clad skater on the podium. It was in the women's 500 metres. Today

3:26:49 > 3:26:54is the men's 500 metres. It is the shortest of the long track events,

3:26:54 > 3:27:03and 35 seconds for each race. They go like the clappers, watch by Simon

3:27:03 > 3:27:07Brotherton.

3:27:07 > 3:27:14COMMENTATOR: We have 18 pairs of skaters getting ready to take to the

3:27:14 > 3:27:19track.

3:27:21 > 3:27:24track. Daniel Gregg, an Australian, is on the ice at the same time,

3:27:24 > 3:27:29basing himself in the Netherlands, the first Australian to win a medal.

3:27:29 > 3:27:33Away first time, important to get up to speed as quickly as possible as

3:27:33 > 3:27:41they scampered down the finishing straight. Carving up the eyes now.

3:27:41 > 3:27:47It is a very good time by both skaters, under the ten second

3:27:47 > 3:27:52barrier. Of course, it is very important to get up to maximum speed

3:27:52 > 3:27:57as quickly as possible and sustain the speed all the way around the

3:27:57 > 3:28:01final 400 metres. It gives you the platform to go on and succeed. Neck

3:28:01 > 3:28:11and neck towards the line. Who will set the time to beat. Marginally

3:28:11 > 3:28:15quicker than downgrade from Australia.

3:28:23 > 3:28:29Colombia represented by Pedro, his nation's flag bearer at the opening

3:28:29 > 3:28:34ceremony. It is good to see a spread of nations involved in the speed

3:28:34 > 3:28:41skating. You don't see many Colombians out there.

3:28:50 > 3:28:569.66, not far out from the leaderboard time.

3:28:56 > 3:29:01leaderboard time. Pausil moves onto the inside of the track. This is the

3:29:01 > 3:29:09important bit, keeping the speed round the final bend.

3:29:09 > 3:29:15round the final bend. His time is the second fastest, Causil, 35.19.

3:29:15 > 3:29:26Behind the time set in the last race. Plenty of skaters still to

3:29:26 > 3:29:32come.

3:29:32 > 3:29:42come. Roman crept from Kazakhstan, 74 years ago in this race.

3:29:53 > 3:30:00Both skaters safely away. No falls start.

3:30:06 > 3:30:09The Finn with quite an upright sprint. He is not a fast opener.

3:30:09 > 3:30:15You'll get people going down in 9.6, but his flying lap is amazing. He

3:30:15 > 3:30:22goes in a straight line. Pedro Causil hugging the line. Sprinting

3:30:22 > 3:30:25away, towards the line. This is a good skate. Good enough for second

3:30:25 > 3:30:37place. Pekka Koskela, 35.19. That is almost the exact same time as Pedro

3:30:37 > 3:30:42Causil. They will have to take down to thousands of a second. I think if

3:30:42 > 3:30:45they do that he has gone ahead of the Colombian into second place.

3:30:48 > 3:30:53Mitchell Whitmore from the United States, from California, based in

3:30:53 > 3:30:58salt lake, as so many of these American skaters are. Fourth in the

3:30:58 > 3:31:07World Championships last year, and from the Netherlands, Jan Smeekens,

3:31:07 > 3:31:10the world champion.

3:31:14 > 3:31:21That will cost Smeekens a fraction of a second. Who switched first?

3:31:24 > 3:31:32Away go, this time. One of the big favourites, Smeekens, the world

3:31:32 > 3:31:38champion. Punching his way through the air. 9.74 is the time for

3:31:38 > 3:31:45Smeekens. That is equal to the time he had, 9.61 he had at the World

3:31:45 > 3:31:50Championships last year. This could be the possibility, having the false

3:31:50 > 3:31:56start and having to wait. Charging around the inside lane.Down the

3:31:56 > 3:32:00finishing stretch, all eyes on the cup now. Smeekens, the world

3:32:00 > 3:32:06champion, crossing the line with the fastest time. 34.90 three. He is the

3:32:06 > 3:32:10new leader. With more of the United States was behind him, but goes into

3:32:10 > 3:32:19third place. -- Whitmore.

3:32:19 > 3:32:31And it means that Hasegawa is knocked off the top spot. Georgie

3:32:31 > 3:32:37Catto from Japan is the other part of the pair, the 2005 World

3:32:37 > 3:32:40champion.

3:32:42 > 3:32:50Gao Tingyu from China on the inside. Both of them going really well.Gao

3:32:50 > 3:32:56Tingyu, from China, having a very good start. One of the commentators

3:32:56 > 3:33:00were saying that this guy could take the gold this evening. We are about

3:33:00 > 3:33:05to find out if we will have a new leader. Both of them are inside the

3:33:05 > 3:33:09previous fastest time. Here they come, neck and neck, into worlds the

3:33:09 > 3:33:14finish. Sprinting for all they are worth. The Chinese sprinter has done

3:33:14 > 3:33:21so well! Gao Tingyu is the new leader. Joji Kato is the new silver

3:33:21 > 3:33:25medallist at this moment in time. The pair of them, setting a new

3:33:25 > 3:33:28standard in the 500 metre final. Gao Tingyu does not look as impressed as

3:33:28 > 3:33:34most of the people sitting around us are, with this effort. Gao felt

3:33:34 > 3:33:39quite heavily earlier in the evening, in the warm up. There was a

3:33:39 > 3:33:44bit of concern how good he would come back. That is a new track

3:33:44 > 3:33:55record.Came back pretty well, then! Exceptionally well.

3:33:55 > 3:34:14From Canada, Gilmore Junio, and the Korean, who got a medal in Calgary.

3:34:15 > 3:34:20Gilmore Junio of Canada, on the inner lane, wearing red and black. A

3:34:20 > 3:34:28superb opening for both skaters. 9.62.Good, fast start from the pair

3:34:28 > 3:34:32of them. A little bit of ground to make. Have they got the power and

3:34:32 > 3:34:35the ability to sustain this? The Korean at the moment is going

3:34:35 > 3:34:44quicker anybody else! Can he keep it going? Are we about to see a new

3:34:44 > 3:34:57leader? Here he comes. Yes! The Olympic record has gone!

3:34:59 > 3:35:02Cha Minkyu had everybody on their feet. The new leading time. The

3:35:02 > 3:35:09crowd have gone absolutely wild. The short track background of his, you

3:35:09 > 3:35:13saw him coming in. That is the advantage that you have, but you

3:35:13 > 3:35:19have to be able to sustain and keep really tight. He has skated an

3:35:19 > 3:35:24absolutely magnificent flying lap, as they call it, superb. It could be

3:35:24 > 3:35:27a turn-up for the books that the Koreans could be going away with

3:35:27 > 3:35:29gold medal.

3:35:35 > 3:35:47The Dutchman, Ronald Mulder, his twin brother won the gold.

3:35:47 > 3:35:49twin brother won the gold. Lorentzen has had a fantastic season, he is

3:35:49 > 3:35:53the world and born at this distance. Away at the first time of asking.

3:35:53 > 3:35:56That maximises the chances of a fast time from the pair of them. Watch

3:35:56 > 3:36:04the time as they go through for the first time. Mulder, inside the

3:36:04 > 3:36:11fastest time so far.He will come from the inner lane, he can sit down

3:36:11 > 3:36:16a lot deeper. He will prefer the outer last lane, because he does not

3:36:16 > 3:36:21like the tight bends. Here they come into the finishing straight.

3:36:21 > 3:36:25Lorentzen is going really well, faster and faster towards the line.

3:36:25 > 3:36:32Lorentzen crosses the line with a new Olympic record time! 34.41

3:36:32 > 3:36:38seconds. Mulder, 34.83. And Mulder's time is only good enough for fourth

3:36:38 > 3:36:52place! Harboured Lorentzen has one hand on the gold medal.

3:36:54 > 3:37:03The bronze medallist in the World Championships in 2015.

3:37:03 > 3:37:10Championships in 2015. From Finland, the 34-year-old, Mika Poutala. Both

3:37:10 > 3:37:15skaters away cleanly and first time.

3:37:19 > 3:37:24Again, both skaters are inside this leading time at the moment. We will

3:37:24 > 3:37:31have to wait and see how well they can complete the final 400 metres.

3:37:31 > 3:37:37The key is how they come around the final bend. At the moment, they are

3:37:37 > 3:37:42both in with a chance. They can see the line in front of them. Mika

3:37:42 > 3:37:45Poutala is skating well. Is he skating well enough? You doesn't

3:37:45 > 3:37:50quite make it onto the podium. He ends up in fourth place.

3:37:50 > 3:37:53Boisvert-Lacroix ends up further back in tenth. The man with the

3:37:53 > 3:38:01Golden skates tonight is Haavard Lorentzen from Norway. He is the

3:38:01 > 3:38:05Olympic champion and the men's 500 metres. He has had a great season

3:38:05 > 3:38:08and capped it in the best way possible. Reaching the pinnacle of

3:38:08 > 3:38:10his sport!

3:38:13 > 3:38:28Of course, those of you who have followed speed skating, Johann Olav

3:38:28 > 3:38:30Kos has always dominated the long-distance, but this is the first

3:38:30 > 3:38:35time they put something down, really, in the short distances. And

3:38:35 > 3:38:38broke the Olympic record in the process. A cracking race and a home

3:38:38 > 3:38:49crowd which saw Cha Minkyu winning the silver medal with 34.40 two. Gao

3:38:49 > 3:38:55Tingyu of China, with the bronze. The new Olympic champion. Haavard

3:38:55 > 3:39:01Lorentzen of Norway. Cha Minkyu from career with silver. Gao Tingyu

3:39:01 > 3:39:02taking bronze.

3:39:07 > 3:39:09The first Norwegian gold medal winner in that event for 70 years.

3:39:09 > 3:39:13Having taken one, two Macron three in Sochi, the Dutch were not on the

3:39:13 > 3:39:17medal table again in this one. The podium clear of orange clad

3:39:17 > 3:39:22athletes. Could the rest of the world be catching up?We are clock

3:39:22 > 3:39:29watching again shortly in the two-man bob. We have got two

3:39:29 > 3:39:32deciding runs. Great Britain have stormed into the top ten, but

3:39:32 > 3:39:34Germany are aiming to storm to the top of the medal podium after

3:39:34 > 3:39:43missing out in Sochi. Dig out your jargon busters, we are talking Cork,

3:39:43 > 3:39:51fake switches and Ali oops in ski half pipe.

3:39:53 > 3:39:55Mesmerising trickery on snowboards already. But the riders are really

3:39:55 > 3:40:00going to push it from here on. Stand by to see the toughest tricks the

3:40:00 > 3:40:04sport can offer. But no tricks, just pure speed is what it is all about

3:40:04 > 3:40:10any two-man bob today. We watched Lizzy Yarnold going down that ice

3:40:10 > 3:40:14flume to a third gold medal for Great Britain's skeleton sliders in

3:40:14 > 3:40:17the last three Olympics. You've got to go back to 1964 to find the one

3:40:17 > 3:40:22and only time that British bobsledders have ended up on the top

3:40:22 > 3:40:28of the podium.

3:40:32 > 3:40:37The Greg Mounis Robin Dixon. It looks like a good start. Dixon is

3:40:37 > 3:40:42safely aboard. Tremendous Dixon. A very good start indeed for Great

3:40:42 > 3:40:48Britain. They are slapping about right down the middle.

3:40:51 > 3:40:57Up to about 80 miles an hour now. Very good line around the bend. Not

3:40:57 > 3:41:06twisted an inch.

3:41:06 > 3:41:10Hasn't once touched the side. This is a really fast run. They could be

3:41:10 > 3:41:18on the way to their gold medal. That was 54 years ago, blimey. Am I that

3:41:18 > 3:41:25old?What was it like for the pair of you to look at the Union Jack?

3:41:25 > 3:41:29The fulfilment of an enormous ambition. Without any doubt, the

3:41:29 > 3:41:36proudest and most emotional moment of my life.

3:41:39 > 3:41:44They became world champion is the following year. Nicola Minichiello,

3:41:44 > 3:41:53with Phil Cook, becoming the first to win since the guys in the mid-50s

3:41:53 > 3:41:57with their pomp. A long time to wait?Hearing those guys going out

3:41:57 > 3:42:03there now, it seems like a lifetime ago, but what an exciting time. That

3:42:03 > 3:42:06gold medal in Innsbruck was achieved with no little help from the

3:42:06 > 3:42:14Italians?Yes, the famous story, about Monty's Bolt. He lent Dixon

3:42:14 > 3:42:16the axle bolt, they got down to the bottom of the run and they were

3:42:16 > 3:42:20supposed to go. The slide was broken. He had somebody go back to

3:42:20 > 3:42:23the top of an axle bolt so they could still manage to race. They

3:42:23 > 3:42:28ended up coming down and winning the gold medal, and the Italians were

3:42:28 > 3:42:32relegated to bronze. He was rewarded four years later, he went and got

3:42:32 > 3:42:42the gold medal. But what a story of sportsmanship, just amazing. And

3:42:42 > 3:42:46Real karma, you give and get. I don't think it would be the same

3:42:46 > 3:42:49these days. You would hope so, but fierce competition going into the

3:42:49 > 3:42:54last couple of runs. We got three German crews in the first five. How

3:42:54 > 3:42:59much do they want this title? It is not just about the three teams, it

3:42:59 > 3:43:02is about Germany. It was embarrassing. Bobsleigh is, as far

3:43:02 > 3:43:05as they are concerned, a German sport, you have more tracks there

3:43:05 > 3:43:10than anywhere else. They have won more medals, they have had more

3:43:10 > 3:43:13championships and more performers in the sport. In Sochi they walked away

3:43:13 > 3:43:21without any Olympic medals. It was a national disaster. There were torn

3:43:21 > 3:43:24apart in the press. But they have done it in football, they have a

3:43:24 > 3:43:28disaster, terror and go again. They have new pilots, the age of the team

3:43:28 > 3:43:32has come right down, they are athletic, they have a new sledge,

3:43:32 > 3:43:39they have rebuilt and are looking to restore some German pride.54 years

3:43:39 > 3:43:42after Nash and Dixon, who would take the gold in the two-man bob? It

3:43:42 > 3:43:48turned into quite a race. As you can see, coming into this, Germany in

3:43:48 > 3:43:55pole position, three cruiser the top five.

3:43:55 > 3:43:59Jimmy have won this title two times in a row. A major shock that they

3:43:59 > 3:44:04didn't get any medals in Sochi. They are back with real purpose now. Who

3:44:04 > 3:44:12will take the gold? Two more runs will tell us.

3:44:14 > 3:44:20The leaders, watch for their start time. Five seconds dead is routine

3:44:20 > 3:44:24for them. They lead, they went so fast on their first run. Let's see

3:44:24 > 3:44:36how they are away. Walters is proud of his record coming up?He has

3:44:36 > 3:44:41really dialled into his truck. Just makes a little mistake. He was one

3:44:41 > 3:44:44of the most consistent pilots yesterday, which is why he is in the

3:44:44 > 3:44:47lead, although he did have a moment when he tipped over on the final

3:44:47 > 3:44:54bend. He needs to get this right. He has been so consistent. Just a

3:44:54 > 3:44:59little tweak with the steering, he is just trying to put the sled in

3:44:59 > 3:45:02the right place. This will put pressure on the guys coming behind

3:45:02 > 3:45:10him as he comes down doing it is its mph.

3:45:12 > 3:45:17That was the slowest of his three runs, it opens the door a little bit

3:45:17 > 3:45:22for rivals. Fascinating the way the track changed from run one to two

3:45:22 > 3:45:27yesterday. Everybody seemed to go fast on run one. Times dropped off

3:45:27 > 3:45:32in-run two.It can be due to the track. By the time he has got down

3:45:32 > 3:45:36the second run, that was almost 50 sleds. They break up the ice and

3:45:36 > 3:45:40slow it down. It naturally slows over time because it is broken on

3:45:40 > 3:45:44the surface. That was a mistake he made. I don't think it will cost him

3:45:44 > 3:45:50too much. He did it yesterday, he just rolled over because he didn't

3:45:50 > 3:45:58get the steering point right, because he couldn't see.

3:45:58 > 3:46:05This man, Justin Kripps, together with Alexander Kopacz, 49.1 on run

3:46:05 > 3:46:09number one. Kripps has been quoted as saying it is podium or bust. He's

3:46:09 > 3:46:15not interested in fourth or worse. He is the overall World Cup winner.

3:46:15 > 3:46:20He has the usual cracking start, let's see how well away he is.

3:46:20 > 3:46:29Three.He needs to be careful with that mentality. As you see him steer

3:46:29 > 3:46:32down, carrying a lot of velocity. A lot of this green light is because

3:46:32 > 3:46:37of the start if Rachel, it is whether Nico Walther will steer it

3:46:37 > 3:46:43better. The tactic of minute on minute cost him in Sochi when he

3:46:43 > 3:46:47crashed in the four man. He doesn't need that at these games. He is a

3:46:47 > 3:46:52medal contender, he needs to play it safe. This is a good run from these

3:46:52 > 3:46:56guys, pulling away from the Germans. This is a run to the front. It will

3:46:56 > 3:47:05still be hundredths Vivian.Kripps to bend 15, will the lead evaporate

3:47:05 > 3:47:11slightly? Only a slight evaporation. A good leader by over a tenth.

3:47:11 > 3:47:17Kripps, the world 11, takes the lead from Nico Walther. That little

3:47:17 > 3:47:22mistake that we saw from Nico Walther where he had a tap between

3:47:22 > 3:47:25four and five, that is the difference between those two runs.

3:47:25 > 3:47:31It has cost him nearly 25 hundredths, that type of time. The

3:47:31 > 3:47:38steam coming off his back because they have warmed up. The guys have

3:47:38 > 3:47:43done what they need to win the sled. Again, as they come up here, using

3:47:43 > 3:47:47all of the corner to push themselves across. He is a real challenge for

3:47:47 > 3:47:52the gold medal.Canada haven't won the gold for 20 years, but they are

3:47:52 > 3:48:00in a great position. Their fourth and final run to come. Next, one of

3:48:00 > 3:48:03two leading pairings who have been talking greatly about how they are

3:48:03 > 3:48:11struggling with corner two. Oskars Melbardis and Janis Strenga, world

3:48:11 > 3:48:17number eight. They are of course looking forward, hopefully, for some

3:48:17 > 3:48:25ratification from the IOC to see if they get their bronze in the two man

3:48:25 > 3:48:31in Sochi. The immediate problem is to get ahead of Kripps and Lochner.

3:48:31 > 3:48:36Medals Kolbe won at this point, but they can certainly be lost. If he

3:48:36 > 3:48:41doesn't get the corner too right, that could be the medal chance gone.

3:48:41 > 3:48:46They are a good starting pair, they have good equipment. He drives

3:48:46 > 3:48:52phenomenally well. He is an Olympic medallist in two man, Olympic

3:48:52 > 3:48:57champion, he did a lot of work them out. That is good. He did a lot of

3:48:57 > 3:49:04work in one. He is in touch, within a tenth. These guys were quick

3:49:04 > 3:49:09yesterday, but made mistakes on the second run. As long as he can smooth

3:49:09 > 3:49:13things out, he can stay in contention, and maybe move into

3:49:13 > 3:49:17first spot. Can he get close to the leaders? The first one was the

3:49:17 > 3:49:22quickest we have seen so far. Their second run was really disappointing.

3:49:22 > 3:49:25Which Melbardis be going to see you? He is pulling back. Some really good

3:49:25 > 3:49:34line said.Kripps looks to be holding a decent lead. That lead

3:49:34 > 3:49:40maintained. The Latvian goes into third place, then. Oskars Melbardis,

3:49:40 > 3:49:4949.0 eight. There has been 1 hundredth between them, brilliant

3:49:49 > 3:49:54stuff.Identical to his first run yesterday. There is consistency

3:49:54 > 3:49:58there when they get corner two right. The problem they have got now

3:49:58 > 3:50:02is, because there are hundredths at Wigan, one of them needs to put in

3:50:02 > 3:50:05an outstanding run to make a challenge for Kripps and the gold on

3:50:05 > 3:50:14the next run. -- hundredths between them.

3:50:14 > 3:50:18World number two, four time world champion in the two man bob. Can

3:50:18 > 3:50:23Friedrich get it right now and keep himself in medal contention?Faster

3:50:23 > 3:50:29starting team. If he gets this right, we are in trouble. And he's

3:50:29 > 3:50:33through there clean this time. He has worked it out. Normally in the

3:50:33 > 3:50:36two man sled, every major championships in the last four

3:50:36 > 3:50:40years, this guy has been in touch. It didn't work in Sochi, the

3:50:40 > 3:50:44government didn't run for the whole German team. Is this the one where

3:50:44 > 3:50:50he will put pressure on Melbardis, Lochner and Kripps? Little tap, but

3:50:50 > 3:50:54he is closing. This guy has phenomenal equipment. He is not

3:50:54 > 3:50:57normally this far back. He has to fight to become Olympic champion

3:50:57 > 3:51:05from this point.12 hundredths of a second off the Canadians. High-end

3:51:05 > 3:51:11Raggett through 16. Look at that, a record for him, and he is breathing

3:51:11 > 3:51:14down Kripps' neck. The great Francesco Friedrich, Germany want to

3:51:14 > 3:51:20win this Olympic title back. They made no show in Sochi. Friedrich

3:51:20 > 3:51:25back in the game. You can see what it means to him. They both know what

3:51:25 > 3:51:29that one was. That was perfect. That is the run he should have had

3:51:29 > 3:51:32yesterday. If he had that run yesterday, nobody would be in

3:51:32 > 3:51:36contention for the gold at this point. That is the quality this guy

3:51:36 > 3:51:42brings, this team brings, four time champions in two man. This will be a

3:51:42 > 3:51:47thriller down to the wire. The five main contenders are now separated

3:51:47 > 3:51:53from gold medal position to fifth by 13 hundredths of a second. The line

3:51:53 > 3:51:58shows you the difference. Almost identical. Inches between the

3:51:58 > 3:52:03difference in lines. That can be the equipment, themselves and how they

3:52:03 > 3:52:07find speed in a corner. That was the run he needed to put down to put

3:52:07 > 3:52:14pressure on everybody else. Here we go for Great Britain, good luck to

3:52:14 > 3:52:18Brad Hall, what an overachievement this has been until now. Brad in

3:52:18 > 3:52:23this two man event, he is well ranked number 19. He has never

3:52:23 > 3:52:29finished higher in a World Cup two man Bob Mann and 13. Seventh place

3:52:29 > 3:52:33at the Olympic Games. Can he get under five seconds for his start? He

3:52:33 > 3:52:38is bang on.That is a good start for those guys. When we talk about

3:52:38 > 3:52:42little bit of history, Brad has a tap, not the run he needs out of

3:52:42 > 3:52:48that corner. Settle into it, Brad. We know you can drive the track.

3:52:48 > 3:52:52Little tap, the same mistakes. When we talk about little bits of history

3:52:52 > 3:52:56in these events, it is not down to medals. Joel Fearon Ron in the back,

3:52:56 > 3:53:00I'm sure, is the first person to run the 100 metres in under ten seconds

3:53:00 > 3:53:07and compete in a Winter Olympics. A bit of history for Great Britain.

3:53:07 > 3:53:11The first person to do that. This is messy from Brad. He needs to keep it

3:53:11 > 3:53:16in, but a top ten results for him would still be a great result.

3:53:16 > 3:53:20Mistakes at two and four have cost him, he has fallen a second behind

3:53:20 > 3:53:29the Canadians in gold-medal position at the moment. Brad Hall,

3:53:29 > 3:53:31at the moment. Brad Hall, then, 4967, and I'm afraid that is a long

3:53:31 > 3:53:43way short of his 49.37 from his first run.

3:53:45 > 3:53:53That run could drop Brad back a few places, and that's unfortunate. But

3:53:53 > 3:53:57great lines. Great lines in some parts of the track. Still driving

3:53:57 > 3:54:01politically well. John Delahunt Hebert, one of the most animated

3:54:01 > 3:54:08coaches on the circuit. So, look at this, then. What a run for gold we

3:54:08 > 3:54:12have got, Kripps leads by 6 hundredths. Friedrich in second

3:54:12 > 3:54:19place. Melbardis and bolts are still in it. Who is your money on?If

3:54:19 > 3:54:23Friedrich can put in a run like his first, he will put the turbo boots

3:54:23 > 3:54:33on.It will be a compelling watch. I think Brad Hall now to come for

3:54:33 > 3:54:37Great Britain, he has got all of Sussex right behind him, all of

3:54:37 > 3:54:41Great Britain behind him.

3:54:43 > 3:54:52The key here is, can he get himself up to the top ten?

3:55:00 > 3:55:07But Brad Hall needs a really good one here. His start time, four-point

3:55:07 > 3:55:1290s, which is decent. He needs to get through this corner. That is not

3:55:12 > 3:55:16going to hell, a little tap. He has a big lead over the Swiss, but I

3:55:16 > 3:55:20don't know if that tap at the top will help him out. He needs to try

3:55:20 > 3:55:24to chewing into the track and make sure he is perfect from now on. He

3:55:24 > 3:55:28has been really good on this track, he has the feel for it and has been

3:55:28 > 3:55:32good at this point of the track he is coming up to now. Just a bit late

3:55:32 > 3:55:36coming in. I don't know whether he has got the speed to stay ahead of

3:55:36 > 3:55:41the Swiss. We need Brad to be in the top ten. It is dropping away. Can he

3:55:41 > 3:55:46do enough to stay in front? It is going to be close, isn't it. It is

3:55:46 > 3:55:53fading away, maybe. It is not to be. Not to be. Rico Peter goes ahead of

3:55:53 > 3:55:58him.

3:55:58 > 3:56:05him. Rico Peter was the problem. Peter, such an experienced Swiss

3:56:05 > 3:56:09rider, two tenths behind Brad Hall before the fourth run, but Brad Hall

3:56:09 > 3:56:13has lost it late. Not much wrong with the run, other than the knot at

3:56:13 > 3:56:18the top he had. A great push from the guys. It was the exit from two

3:56:18 > 3:56:24into three. It cost him. Brad gets hold of it quickly, but we're not

3:56:24 > 3:56:27going to get to see it. He already lost the speed from the top at that

3:56:27 > 3:56:33point. All in all, I think Brad has had a good competition. To finish

3:56:33 > 3:56:38top 12 or what ever he will finish off, he will finish top ten if other

3:56:38 > 3:56:45people move around him, but top 12 is a good result for this pair

3:56:45 > 3:56:49considering their world ranking. Going now to Germany, we've got

3:56:49 > 3:56:54three medal contenders, Nico Walther. Nico, spectacular when

3:56:54 > 3:57:00leading after run number one. He is dropped now back to fifth place as

3:57:00 > 3:57:06they begin this final, final assault on the medals. The question is,

3:57:06 > 3:57:11John, has he put himself under too much pressure do re-establishes

3:57:11 > 3:57:13position? His might have been the equipment that didn't work in minus

3:57:13 > 3:57:1811. This is the temperature that it worked in yesterday. He is an

3:57:18 > 3:57:22absolute magician in the front of a sled. You don't usually see him make

3:57:22 > 3:57:28mistakes. He has the best feel out of all of the pilots coming up next.

3:57:28 > 3:57:31Into the last five, don't be surprised if you still see a German

3:57:31 > 3:57:36one, two, three on the podium. They haven't had any medals at the last

3:57:36 > 3:57:39Olympics. They coming out fighting. They want medals at these games.

3:57:39 > 3:57:44They have do have medals. That is a perfect line. There is nothing wrong

3:57:44 > 3:57:49with this run at all. It is absolutely perfect, just a little

3:57:49 > 3:57:52tap there, but it is not going to cost him any speed. Will he ducked

3:57:52 > 3:57:57his head under the cover down the final end? He has do get close to 49

3:57:57 > 3:58:04seconds to put the pressure on, 49.35 is his time, the slowest of

3:58:04 > 3:58:09four. That is him done for, John.I think you could be right. I really

3:58:09 > 3:58:13do. He is looking at the clock. He has come down first. That is all he

3:58:13 > 3:58:19can do now. He has put the best run in that he can. Maybe his equipment

3:58:19 > 3:58:22was settled better for yesterday. It is not quite working today, but he

3:58:22 > 3:58:27can do no more. His Olympic run is over. He needs to see where he ends

3:58:27 > 3:58:35up.

3:58:35 > 3:58:40up.Nico, fantastic exponent of bobsleigh piloting, but has a medal

3:58:40 > 3:58:43just dropped away? We know, we've been here long enough here this

3:58:43 > 3:58:49fortnight to never write any possibility of. Strange things have

3:58:49 > 3:58:59happened consistently. Melbardis, who comes next, starts off just 1

3:58:59 > 3:59:03hundredth ahead of Nico Walther. He needs the same sort of time to

3:59:03 > 3:59:08confirm that position. But I think he needs to go quicker and 49.35,

3:59:08 > 3:59:13John. He needs to go a good deal quicker to put the medal chase in

3:59:13 > 3:59:17the ebb.He needs to put a clean running. The time will be the time

3:59:17 > 3:59:21whatever it is at the bottom. He can't have a run like his second,

3:59:21 > 3:59:27when he absolutely messed up between the top curves. If he has a clean

3:59:27 > 3:59:30run, the last three sleds are under a lot of pressure, because he is one

3:59:30 > 3:59:35of the quickest guides on the field. Twice he has been 49.08, which is

3:59:35 > 3:59:41required here. First, he needs the usual start, let's see if he gets

3:59:41 > 3:59:46it.We are going to see the gap open up initially because of the stark

3:59:46 > 3:59:50difference between the German in the lead and now this sled here. He will

3:59:50 > 3:59:54start pulling away, but will he drive well enough stop he made a

3:59:54 > 3:59:58mistake through there yesterday. Is he good enough to stay in front of

3:59:58 > 4:00:03the German at the bottom, who had a perfect run? All of these top pilots

4:00:03 > 4:00:06now, there is nothing between them. Absolutely nothing. The skill level

4:00:06 > 4:00:11these guys have is amazing. Another perfect run into the corner. He has

4:00:11 > 4:00:14that absolutely nailed, slightly better than Nico Walther through

4:00:14 > 4:00:18this part of the track. Another tap, but does he have enough to hold on?

4:00:18 > 4:00:25Losing ground at this point.15 clean, 16, does he take the lead,

4:00:25 > 4:00:32Melbardis? He does. Guaranteed fourth at worst. Melbardis has done

4:00:32 > 4:00:38all he can. He has finished ahead of Nico Walther, so it is a good

4:00:38 > 4:00:44effort. Is it enough for a medal? We will see shortly.

4:00:44 > 4:00:51These three slides next, Johannes Lochner, he has been one of the most

4:00:51 > 4:00:56consistent two-man pilots this season. But he has no Olympic

4:00:56 > 4:01:01experience. Francesco Friedrich is a former champion, but he struggle at

4:01:01 > 4:01:04the Olympic games. If he puts a running like his first one, he will

4:01:04 > 4:01:10put pressure on Justin Kripps, who is the last one to come down and has

4:01:10 > 4:01:13been the most consistent this season. The last three slides are

4:01:13 > 4:01:16going to be fighting for hundredths of a second. It does look like

4:01:16 > 4:01:26Nicola -- Nico Walther is going to miss out. Melbardis with the lead.

4:01:26 > 4:01:33Johannes Lochner had the advantage over Melbardis going into the final

4:01:33 > 4:01:39run. Silver medallist at the World Championships. World number six,

4:01:39 > 4:01:45slightly overachieving. Can Lochner get himself a medal? Your start-up

4:01:45 > 4:01:48imperfect. He has just gone a shade quicker.Their velocity will be very

4:01:48 > 4:01:56good. As they come into the sled, it looks like a jump forward. That is

4:01:56 > 4:01:59what you want, good velocity at the top. It is not about the start time,

4:01:59 > 4:02:02it is about how much speed at the top you carry into the first couple

4:02:02 > 4:02:06of corners. He has driven it perfectly. Nice high line, right on

4:02:06 > 4:02:12the limit as he pushes himself across. A little bit high, but early

4:02:12 > 4:02:18on. Is that going to cost him? The Latvians, they find a lot of speed

4:02:18 > 4:02:21at the bottom of the track. This is falling away from him. He is not

4:02:21 > 4:02:27going to get a medal at this rate. The Latvian is, Melbardis on the

4:02:27 > 4:02:30sideline, seeing Lochner's final run getting ragged, and he drops further

4:02:30 > 4:02:40back behind Nico Walther. Lochner has blown it. Oskars Melbardis has a

4:02:40 > 4:02:44guaranteed medal for Latvia. This is what we have seen in all of the

4:02:44 > 4:02:47competition so far. In the single competitions, the last three or four

4:02:47 > 4:02:51sleds coming down have moved around because somebody has made a mistake.

4:02:51 > 4:02:58Is that the pressure that has got to this young pilot? Not really any

4:02:58 > 4:03:03mistakes until he got to that sort of exit, into 12, that little tap as

4:03:03 > 4:03:07he comes down the Dragons tale into 12. That is what cost him, because

4:03:07 > 4:03:11everything is perfect. This cost him a potential Olympic medal. A couple

4:03:11 > 4:03:15of centimetres the other way and he would have been down in front of the

4:03:15 > 4:03:19Latvians and his team-mates.Well, this now means that the Germans so

4:03:19 > 4:03:24wanted to get this gold medal. They had three chances. They only have

4:03:24 > 4:03:29one more chance of gold and it remains at the hands of Francesco

4:03:29 > 4:03:34Friedrich, the man who had a nightmare in Sochi. He was so well

4:03:34 > 4:03:42fancied. He is a superb pilot. Can he now put his name alongside the

4:03:42 > 4:03:47greats, like Andre Langer? Let's see how he starts. One thing we know for

4:03:47 > 4:03:52certain, Germany are going to get a medal, because Nico Walther is in

4:03:52 > 4:03:58second. If he comes down in front or behind, they have a medal. He is not

4:03:58 > 4:04:04bothered about him winning a gold medal, he is bothered about him

4:04:04 > 4:04:07getting the gold. He left the afterburners on the first run and

4:04:07 > 4:04:13set a new track record. The only person I have seen going under 39

4:04:13 > 4:04:17seconds. Will this win him a gold medal? Almost perfect, but he is

4:04:17 > 4:04:21starting to pull away. Has he come in a little bit late? That will cost

4:04:21 > 4:04:26him speed. It is dropping off. Has he gotten off track left to stay in

4:04:26 > 4:04:30front of the Latvians?Clean-out of 15. Has he got enough in the belt?

4:04:30 > 4:04:37Can he do it? He has, he has just moved ahead of the Latvian.

4:04:37 > 4:04:42Friedrich goes to the front. Guaranteed silver. Oskars Melbardis,

4:04:42 > 4:04:50guaranteed bronze. We are going to get one final upheaval, Justin

4:04:50 > 4:04:55Kripps for Canada waits in the sideline. Friedrich has done all he

4:04:55 > 4:05:01can.One thing Justin Kripps has got to do now is absolutely nail this.

4:05:01 > 4:05:04If he doesn't, he could drop out of the medals. Everything is so tight

4:05:04 > 4:05:11at the moment. If he wants to stay in the medals come he has to come in

4:05:11 > 4:05:14front of Nico Walther into tenths. But he has been the most consistent

4:05:14 > 4:05:18pilot. He should be able to stay in front of the Germans. You never

4:05:18 > 4:05:22know. One mistake is so costly at this level. Everybody has been

4:05:22 > 4:05:28absolutely perfect. Are Germany going to win gold with Francesco

4:05:28 > 4:05:35Friedrich? Or will Canada win gold with this man, Justin Kripps? He is

4:05:35 > 4:05:41now in the next 60 seconds or so attempting to win gold in this two

4:05:41 > 4:05:50man event for Canada for the first time since 19 98. Friedrich in his

4:05:50 > 4:05:59sights. Cripps has had identical runs. 493 as the figure to watch out

4:05:59 > 4:06:08for. He is capable of 49.09. That will do it, if he can repeat it. The

4:06:08 > 4:06:12start is all-important. 493, as Justin Kripps goes for gold for

4:06:12 > 4:06:17Canada.What you're going to see is him initially fall back into the

4:06:17 > 4:06:23red, as they have done, because of the start deficit between these and

4:06:23 > 4:06:29Friedrich. Justin is going to have to drive the run of his life to come

4:06:29 > 4:06:33down here. He has been so consistent this year. He has been on the podium

4:06:33 > 4:06:40nearly every race and had two top fours. His worst result is top four.

4:06:40 > 4:06:43He is mailing lists. He is starting to pull in front of the Germans.

4:06:43 > 4:06:46They had made mistakes at this point. He can't afford to make any

4:06:46 > 4:06:50mistakes. This is going to be gold for Canada unless he makes a mistake

4:06:50 > 4:06:55down the bottom. This is a gold medal run.Go on, Kripps, the world

4:06:55 > 4:07:01number one, for Canada. It is a dead heat with Friedrich! For the first

4:07:01 > 4:07:09time in 20 years, we have a dead heat! That is absolutely

4:07:09 > 4:07:16extraordinary. In 1998, the Italian got a dead heat with the Canadian.

4:07:16 > 4:07:26And we have the same scenario again! Kripps and Friedrich share the gold.

4:07:26 > 4:07:35Oskars Melbardis is in bronze medal position. Drama again at the Sliding

4:07:35 > 4:07:40Centre.What an amazing finish. You just don't get any closer than that.

4:07:40 > 4:07:45You can see straightaway the camaraderie between these teams. The

4:07:45 > 4:07:47first people to congratulate the Canadians were the German pair. They

4:07:47 > 4:07:52are sharing the gold medal with them. What an absolute corker of a

4:07:52 > 4:07:57race.

4:07:58 > 4:08:04How was the evening performance? Not as good as yesterday, evidently.

4:08:04 > 4:08:08Still pretty solid runs. Just made one mistake in each run. You can't

4:08:08 > 4:08:14make a mistake on this track.Joel, what did you make of his driving

4:08:14 > 4:08:21tonight?Like I said, I am always really proud of Brad. He has come

4:08:21 > 4:08:25such a long way, 12th? No lower than 12? We cannot be upset about that.

4:08:25 > 4:08:31We know the two man is not where we shine. That has beat our position by

4:08:31 > 4:08:36one place, the season's best. If we beat our position by one place in

4:08:36 > 4:08:39the four man, I think that makes number one. We can't be too upset

4:08:39 > 4:08:43about that.

4:08:43 > 4:08:46That is the way to think about it. Extraordinary camaraderie between

4:08:46 > 4:08:51the teams. You had the Canadians, Justin Kripps was actually trained

4:08:51 > 4:08:59to pilot the bob by the last Canadian who, for Canada, was the

4:08:59 > 4:09:03last to win in a dead heat? The irony of that as he coached several

4:09:03 > 4:09:10two years, and then the Russians, and now the Koreans. It underlines

4:09:10 > 4:09:13the bonds that there are any Bobsleigh community. You can see the

4:09:13 > 4:09:21genuine died. Why so many tight bonds?There is a new generation. --

4:09:21 > 4:09:26the genuine delight. Although you are competing against each other.

4:09:26 > 4:09:29These metals are crucial. It is still two minutes per day, we are

4:09:29 > 4:09:35travelling and living in the same accommodation, siege of the day in,

4:09:35 > 4:09:39day out for five months. It is not just about the sport. I think people

4:09:39 > 4:09:43are recognising it as more than that. There we go, the Canadians

4:09:43 > 4:09:52coming down. The first person, as John Jackson said, it was the

4:09:52 > 4:09:58Germans who congratulate them. We talked about that axle bolt, we said

4:09:58 > 4:10:02it might not have happened now, but I think maybe it would have done?

4:10:02 > 4:10:06The Canadians are right there, but it is the Germans running over.

4:10:06 > 4:10:10These guys are tight, they are friends, they have been training and

4:10:10 > 4:10:13developing together. It is so nice to see that camaraderie. It is the

4:10:13 > 4:10:18same at the top of the medal podium and right down to the bottom. These

4:10:18 > 4:10:24guys are friends, men, women. It is on

4:10:26 > 4:10:29on and off the track. It is so nice to see them celebrating together.A

4:10:29 > 4:10:31lot to celebrate from Brad Hall's perspective, a Olympic debut for the

4:10:31 > 4:10:39new pilot. How much would he have learned? What better place to get

4:10:39 > 4:10:44the best performance of your life than the Olympic Games? We knew that

4:10:44 > 4:10:50the two man was almost preparation for the four-man.

4:10:50 > 4:10:52for the four-man. That was just preparation. But yesterday was

4:10:52 > 4:10:56actually just a dream. He nailed the track. He has a good feeling on the

4:10:56 > 4:11:01track. Him and Joel together, they are good start is with fantastic

4:11:01 > 4:11:05velocity. Today, yeah, didn't go to plan. Especially the third run,

4:11:05 > 4:11:09there were mistakes. But it is still a huge performance, his best result

4:11:09 > 4:11:14ever. It shows what a talent he is. Quite unusual, the fact that Team

4:11:14 > 4:11:21GB, the teams, they are probably decided but they have not been

4:11:21 > 4:11:27named. How unusual is that? Is there still room for manoeuvre?Yes, we

4:11:27 > 4:11:30are led to believe it is not yet decided who is going to go into

4:11:30 > 4:11:35which Sled, who will be pushing which pilot on Saturday or Sunday.

4:11:35 > 4:11:42It does seem very late. However, we know that they have six... Well,

4:11:42 > 4:11:53obviously more, six fantastic brake men that are going to be competing.

4:11:53 > 4:11:58We look forward to seeing it, whoever the personnel are, it is

4:11:58 > 4:12:01going to be competitive. That two man Bob was one of only three gold

4:12:01 > 4:12:05medals handed out today, in what is the lightest medal day of these

4:12:05 > 4:12:10games. But there was still plenty of news flying around.

4:12:11 > 4:12:15Not all of it good. An anti-doping case has been opened against killer

4:12:15 > 4:12:27Alexander crucial that she -- Russian killer.

4:12:34 > 4:12:37Meanwhile, Shifferin's boyfriend has been sent home after his Commons

4:12:37 > 4:12:43yesterday. She has pulled out downhill herself, which has been

4:12:43 > 4:12:48moved forward to Thursday because of the strong wind forecast for Friday.

4:12:48 > 4:12:51And the British curling team gave their hopes of reaching the

4:12:51 > 4:12:57semifinals a really big boost today. The men edged the Danes 7-6 and

4:12:57 > 4:13:01women saw off the Swiss. It is still very twitchy in the round-robin

4:13:01 > 4:13:08phase, with just two matches to go. We have seen that Shaun White and

4:13:08 > 4:13:13Chloe King were really rocking the snowboard half pipe. Today was the

4:13:13 > 4:13:17turn of the free skiers to dip into that pipe. Now, it has been a very

4:13:17 > 4:13:22long wait for Great Britain's Rowan Cheshire, who you might remember in

4:13:22 > 4:13:27Sochi was all set to make her debut. In the qualifying, she crushed and

4:13:27 > 4:13:32suffered concussion, she suffered a long illness. It was a delight to

4:13:32 > 4:13:35see her lining up to drop into the pipe today. Also on duty for Great

4:13:35 > 4:13:43Britain, another Summerhayes sister. Her sister Molly is in action this

4:13:43 > 4:13:48time. Only the top 12 will go through to the final, and was all

4:13:48 > 4:13:50watched by Tim.

4:13:54 > 4:14:01Molly Summerhayes from Sheffield in England. How is she feeling?I think

4:14:01 > 4:14:04she is feeling good. She seems to be skiing well. Hopefully she is not

4:14:04 > 4:14:12too nervous. I think she will do well.Well, she has done really well

4:14:12 > 4:14:16at youth level.

4:14:20 > 4:14:22Big, straight hair.

4:14:28 > 4:14:35Back-to-back fives.

4:14:36 > 4:14:47, an. Yes! Seven. Switching to normal. Yes, you called that. At the

4:14:47 > 4:14:53rundown.

4:14:53 > 4:14:59Both weigh fives, and a switch three. Nice to see that she is

4:14:59 > 4:15:02showing them that she can spin in all directions.

4:15:05 > 4:15:10Fourth place at the moment.

4:15:10 > 4:15:19Back to the top for Brita Sigourney. So, Team USA no tourists Lee Strong

4:15:19 > 4:15:31both in men's and women's half pipe skiing:

4:15:34 > 4:15:46huge.Massive.900, the first one we have seen. Another straight there.

4:15:46 > 4:15:53540 meet grab coming into the last tip. Big 720. That's why she's the

4:15:53 > 4:15:59World Cup leader. There you go, number one on the Jersey. What a run

4:15:59 > 4:16:04that was from Brita Sigourney.

4:16:05 > 4:16:08that was from Brita Sigourney. She played it quite safe. She could get

4:16:08 > 4:16:18rid of a straight there and push it more, but she goes very big there.

4:16:18 > 4:16:19She

4:16:19 > 4:16:24She will be happy with that. There you go, 90.0 six.

4:16:24 > 4:16:30-- 90.6.

4:16:33 > 4:16:37Ninth in Sochi, a second Olympics here, second in the World

4:16:37 > 4:16:45Championships. What can Annalisa Drew do?A big 900 to start.Putting

4:16:45 > 4:16:50the big trick at the top. Back-to-back nines.It's what the

4:16:50 > 4:16:58judges like to see, risk versus award.Big 540. Can she keep her

4:16:58 > 4:17:08altitude? Straight there.Building up a bit of speed 720 do finish.

4:17:08 > 4:17:13Solid run. Very technical, but I think she will be deducted for her

4:17:13 > 4:17:18grabs.Back-to-back nines were nice, putting them nice and high up a

4:17:18 > 4:17:22pipe, rather than playing it safe and chucking in a few straight airs.

4:17:22 > 4:17:28She goes for the biggest, hardest tricks first. Waiting for these

4:17:28 > 4:17:40scores to come in.85.Second place. Big score.Cassie Sharpe, expecting

4:17:40 > 4:17:46big things from the Canadian here, 25 years of age. Coming out of

4:17:46 > 4:17:54Whistler, BC. A singsong as she rides into the half pipe here.Big

4:17:54 > 4:18:00straight there with a mute grab. Nice and solid.First of 900s,

4:18:00 > 4:18:08hopefully. Big flare, top of the wall. Losing altitude slightly.

4:18:08 > 4:18:16Needs to speed it up a bit here. Switch 360. Straight air. Are we

4:18:16 > 4:18:28going to see a nine? We are in deed. Big nine.Solid! She had 9

4:18:29 > 4:18:36Big nine.Solid! She had 9 hundreds. Good spin from Cassie

4:18:36 > 4:18:36Big nine.Solid! She had 9 hundreds. Good spin from Cassie.Beating the

4:18:36 > 4:18:43Canadian flag of that coat. Could she trouble the top three?Very

4:18:43 > 4:18:55clean. 93.There you go. There's the measure. We have a new leader.

4:18:55 > 4:18:58That's an outfit, isn't it. Never seen anything quite like that.

4:18:58 > 4:19:11Silver medallist from Sochi, France's.Straight air. 540. Not as

4:19:11 > 4:19:17high as she would have hoped.Marry Martineau, then.Another 540, very

4:19:17 > 4:19:22clean.

4:19:23 > 4:19:32clean. Flare. Good runs so far. 722 finish, strong run. I then think she

4:19:32 > 4:19:36will trouble the likes of Cassie, but she could potentially knock

4:19:36 > 4:19:44Ritter off second. How important is it to qualify in first or second if

4:19:44 > 4:19:51we are only taking the top 12?The benefit of qualifying in first or

4:19:51 > 4:19:54second, well, the higher up you qualify, the more people will run in

4:19:54 > 4:20:00front of you. So if they do a good run, something you might not have

4:20:00 > 4:20:05seen before, you'll be able to watch and alter your run because you've

4:20:05 > 4:20:11got the benefit of going last in the finals. So it's reverse order.Very

4:20:11 > 4:20:16happy with that.

4:20:17 > 4:20:25happy with that. Second. Second, big old score.Sochi gold medallist

4:20:25 > 4:20:31here, Maddie Bowman. This girl can get it done. 20 four years of age.

4:20:31 > 4:20:37She is the Shaun White of ladies -- 24 years of age.Coming in hot.

4:20:37 > 4:20:46Fast.Quite an open line, quite far down the pipe. Left 540. Nice tail

4:20:46 > 4:20:57grab. Right 720 landing, a bit flat there. Just squeaking round the

4:20:57 > 4:21:02switch 720. Write 540 again. What have we got? 900. Has she got one

4:21:02 > 4:21:09more? Air to

4:21:09 > 4:21:13more? Air to faked.Loses speed through the middle of that. Lost the

4:21:13 > 4:21:20mojo. Definitely the form skier, coming off Aspen and the X games.

4:21:20 > 4:21:25She is used to winning now. She wants to keep winning, she is a

4:21:25 > 4:21:30competitor. 83.Wow, so we can already start to see a bit of a

4:21:30 > 4:21:37pattern emerging from the judge's booth. They are awarding amplitude

4:21:37 > 4:21:42and cleanliness of tricks. Rowan Cheshire, her second Olympics,

4:21:42 > 4:21:47nasty crash in training in Sochi. She was unable to compete. Since

4:21:47 > 4:21:51then, she has battled through injury, couple of concussions. She

4:21:51 > 4:21:56has come off the back of an ankle injury now and she is excited. She

4:21:56 > 4:22:04is skiing well, which is great to see. Big 540.

4:22:06 > 4:22:17see. Big 540.Huge alley-oop. It is her signature trick, the Temm won.

4:22:17 > 4:22:26Come on, Rowan.720. Skiing nicely here. Switch 360. And a nice little

4:22:26 > 4:22:33straight air to finish.Good run. Very good run. Amplitude was good,

4:22:33 > 4:22:40amplitude was consistent. Good grabs, solid run from Rowan. I'd

4:22:40 > 4:22:44hope that would be enough. A little bit of a hand drag, but hopefully

4:22:44 > 4:22:50the judges won't notice that. Hopefully, they won't notice it! So,

4:22:50 > 4:22:54ninth position. There we go. Well done, Rowan. She almost looks happy

4:22:54 > 4:23:02there.Ninth position. Cassie Sharpe from Canada in top spot from Marie

4:23:02 > 4:23:10Martinod. Ritter Sigourney, Annalisa Drew, Maddie Bowman, it is USA

4:23:10 > 4:23:14three, four, five.

4:23:14 > 4:23:21Guyana honours Ucar, the bronze medallist from Sochi four years ago.

4:23:21 > 4:23:28Going through the motions here -- Ayana Onozuka. The Japanese half

4:23:28 > 4:23:33pipe programme is very strong with both ski and snowboard. Huge 542

4:23:33 > 4:23:42kick things off with the mute grab. Back-to-back fives and a safety grab

4:23:42 > 4:23:50on that. Into the 720, landing switch into the switch 720.

4:23:50 > 4:23:57Back-to-back sevens, already seeing an improvement. Alley-oop 360 into a

4:23:57 > 4:24:01switch five. That was a good run. Definitely an improvement. And they

4:24:01 > 4:24:16are happy. So the 29-year-old, the veteran really happy with that.

4:24:16 > 4:24:23Big improvement for her.

4:24:26 > 4:24:30Next up, Molly

4:24:30 > 4:24:35Next up, Molly. Landed a good run on her first run, hopefully she can

4:24:35 > 4:24:41update and make it into the final. Getting a hug from the coaches up

4:24:41 > 4:24:46there. What will they have said to her?Send it.Just send it.Come on,

4:24:46 > 4:24:53Molly.Come on, Molly. Come on, Molly Summerhayes from Sheffield.

4:24:53 > 4:25:03Big straight air, nice mute grab. Big alley-oop, that was better. Left

4:25:03 > 4:25:12540, nice and high. Right 540, that was good. She got her grab on that

4:25:12 > 4:25:20one, it looked like. Switch three. , coming into the Severn. Good seven.

4:25:20 > 4:25:26Last hit. Switch to straight air.

4:25:26 > 4:25:34It looks like she got bucked off a little bit. Smiles all round. She

4:25:34 > 4:25:38watched her sister compete in the slopestyle. You have to say, coming

4:25:38 > 4:25:47into these games, that will have been her name. Make the finals.66.

4:25:47 > 4:25:55She upped it from her first run.It is a nodding act knowledge were

4:25:55 > 4:25:59there.Great experience for her. Not quite enough, but she has definitely

4:25:59 > 4:26:07skied very well today. Annalisa Drew, great first run. Hopefully,

4:26:07 > 4:26:16she can tidy it up with a good run. Good, solid skier.Very technical.

4:26:16 > 4:26:21Eighth at the X games a few weeks ago. Don't let that fool you.

4:26:21 > 4:26:26Straight into the left 900.Really nice to see back-to-back nine is

4:26:26 > 4:26:38right at the top.Left 540 there. Big straight air, trying to gain

4:26:38 > 4:26:51altitude again. Left 720 to finish. They have got pictures of her fate

4:26:51 > 4:26:58in the crowd, I love that. The 24-year-old, fourth place at the

4:26:58 > 4:27:07world champs. Looking to get it done in the finals. Let's see. It is an

4:27:07 > 4:27:14improvement, not by much, though. Still in fourth.Yeah, she'll stay

4:27:14 > 4:27:17in for. Cassie Sharpe at the top. Does she cruise or does she go for

4:27:17 > 4:27:24it?I definitely can't see hope getting bumped out. No. What she

4:27:24 > 4:27:28could do is send the proverbial shivers up the spine of every

4:27:28 > 4:27:32athlete by throwing down the best she can do.I would agree. Big 900.

4:27:32 > 4:27:40So smooth.Yeah, right side 900, back-to-back nines. There is her

4:27:40 > 4:27:52flair. Right three higher this time. Switch three. Big straight air, what

4:27:52 > 4:28:02has she got to finish. Left ten? Yes.Oh, beautiful expat I'm not

4:28:02 > 4:28:10saying she's ahead of the game, but when Mark Zuckerberg sends her a

4:28:10 > 4:28:15friend request...That is true.She is light years ahead of everybody

4:28:15 > 4:28:21else. Oh, my goodness, she's almost got the keys to the safe that

4:28:21 > 4:28:36contains the gold medals. So big improvement of 0.40. Sobhi defending

4:28:36 > 4:28:41silver medallist from Sochi finds herself in the qualifying silver

4:28:41 > 4:28:46position, second place at the moment. It means nothing until the

4:28:46 > 4:28:50finals, of course, but skiing well, skiing, Lily, the French girl.Very

4:28:50 > 4:28:55much so. Big straight air, tail grab. Left 540. Coming in with a lot

4:28:55 > 4:29:06of speed. Right side 540. Very clean. Left 900.

4:29:06 > 4:29:09clean. Left 900. Right side flair. Just sitting on her tail is a bit

4:29:09 > 4:29:20there.Marie Martinod also upping her run a bit, stretching her legs.

4:29:20 > 4:29:27Good run, seems very happy with that. Similar to Annalisa Drew, she

4:29:27 > 4:29:31doesn't really have a switch hit in there. It might be something she can

4:29:31 > 4:29:42pull out for finals. 33 years of age.92.It is an

4:29:42 > 4:29:45improvement.

4:29:48 > 4:30:03All eyes back to the top. Valeriya Demidova. 17 years of age. She is

4:30:03 > 4:30:09going to have to rip the lead off.

4:30:12 > 4:30:22Wright said -- right side flair. They write 540.

4:30:23 > 4:30:37Left 720. Switch, switch 180. Switch 360. Needs to get her amplitude back

4:30:37 > 4:30:46up. Good run. Solid run. I am not sure if it will be enough to trouble

4:30:46 > 4:30:50the top 12. I think what we have seen from the judges so far, the

4:30:50 > 4:30:57story is that they are definitely rewarding amplitude. We are not

4:30:57 > 4:31:04really seeing it.

4:31:05 > 4:31:12So, currently in tenth.Tenth position. Look at that. 73.6. That

4:31:12 > 4:31:14was what she needed.

4:31:16 > 4:31:21The defending Olympic champion, Maddie Bowman, going through the

4:31:21 > 4:31:29motions at the top. Currently finds herself sitting down in sixth

4:31:29 > 4:31:35position.Going through her run in her head. Coming in with a lot of

4:31:35 > 4:31:49speed. Straight air. 520 tail grab. Right 720. Switch seven. Missing the

4:31:49 > 4:31:57grab. Right five.Solid ground on that one.Left 900. Worked really

4:31:57 > 4:32:06hard to get it around. Good run.

4:32:06 > 4:32:11I think she could get a few more points out that one. She doesn't

4:32:11 > 4:32:17look too happy. We always say the indication of the run, first and

4:32:17 > 4:32:22foremost, straight into the eyes of the skier. They are the best

4:32:22 > 4:32:27indicator.

4:32:27 > 4:32:32Sheeted up that by 0.2.

4:32:33 > 4:32:40She fell on her last go, her first run. Hopefully she can put it down,

4:32:40 > 4:32:46because she can quite easily make the top 12.She chest plundered. She

4:32:46 > 4:32:50would have experienced the phenomenon known as being winded.

4:32:50 > 4:32:55360.

4:32:55 > 4:33:04She needs to pick up her speed. Alley-oop. Left five. Alley-oop

4:33:04 > 4:33:09five.

4:33:09 > 4:33:24five. Straight air, right flair. No, just an air to flaky. -- fakie.

4:33:24 > 4:33:29Nice alley-oop, with a grab.

4:33:29 > 4:33:37Is it going to be enough?

4:33:42 > 4:33:5372.8. Just in there. In ninth position. It would be nice to

4:33:53 > 4:34:00improve here. I think she will try it.Getting that right ball first.

4:34:01 > 4:34:15Nice 540 from Rowan. Big alley-oop. So smooth. 900. Solid.

4:34:19 > 4:34:20So smooth. 900. Solid. Losing amplitude slightly, but holding on.

4:34:20 > 4:34:30Left seven. What I she got for us? Switch three. Straight air. She will

4:34:30 > 4:34:37be happy with that. She managed to add the right five.We just got a

4:34:37 > 4:34:42glimpse of Cassie Sharpe, watching from the bottom. She has done really

4:34:42 > 4:34:46well, hasn't she? She had a really nasty ankle injury that she has just

4:34:46 > 4:34:52about skied back to full speed right now?She had a tough summer, a lot

4:34:52 > 4:34:55of rehab and work to getting her back on skis. She had a great start

4:34:55 > 4:35:01to the season.

4:35:01 > 4:35:07to the season. 71.4, not an improvement. I think it was her

4:35:07 > 4:35:12amplitude, slightly. The results look like this. The Canadian, Cassie

4:35:12 > 4:35:20Sharpe, light years ahead. Maddie Bowman is down there in sixth, the

4:35:20 > 4:35:24defending Olympic champion. Rowan Cheshire, qualifying in a

4:35:24 > 4:35:28respectable ninth position. What did it mean to get out there and compete

4:35:28 > 4:35:33today, in front of this crowd, given that we know what happened four

4:35:33 > 4:35:36years ago?It means the absolute world to me. Four years ago I could

4:35:36 > 4:35:40not show anybody what I could do and I heard myself quite badly. -- hurt

4:35:40 > 4:35:47myself. I had a whirlwind of injuries, my head and ankle. I have

4:35:47 > 4:35:50not been skiing as much as I would have liked to. To come out today and

4:35:50 > 4:35:55put down the run that I did, even though it was scrappy, I am so proud

4:35:55 > 4:35:56and happy to get to the finals.

4:36:00 > 4:36:04Four years after that awful crash, she is in the final. You will see

4:36:04 > 4:36:09that at 1.30 in the morning, our time. There might be an outside

4:36:09 > 4:36:15chance of history, fifth British medal. We are seeing British

4:36:15 > 4:36:19snowboarder Aimee Fuller in action already, she went in the women's

4:36:19 > 4:36:23slopestyle and it was a blown off course event, in high wind. She gets

4:36:23 > 4:36:31another go and is hoping for calmer conditions in the big air. She has

4:36:31 > 4:36:39been charting a diary for us in a video blog.I love Korea! Where are

4:36:39 > 4:36:46we going? The opening ceremony!You are now an Olympian.Lock-up that

4:36:46 > 4:36:54smile!Nick Buckland.

4:36:54 > 4:37:01I am going to show them how to do proper stunts.

4:37:01 > 4:37:08Opening ceremony, baby!

4:37:08 > 4:37:14It is such a windy contest. It really was absolutely crazy. I gave

4:37:14 > 4:37:19it everything I had in the tank. That last jump was not meant to be.

4:37:19 > 4:37:25I am Aimee Fuller, Team GB.

4:37:26 > 4:37:27I am Aimee Fuller, Team GB.Who wrote that? I am the mother of the

4:37:27 > 4:37:45Olympian.Has been good craic. Seems! You have made it to the blog.

4:37:45 > 4:37:49We are currently walking around the markets. It is nice to get out of

4:37:49 > 4:38:00the village for a day. I love Korea!

4:38:01 > 4:38:12Where are you from?Great Britain! Is it pork? I would not eat that.

4:38:12 > 4:38:17Great Britain.I love you.

4:38:18 > 4:38:27I am back in the village, straight back to it.

4:38:36 > 4:38:42First-day at the big air venue.

4:38:42 > 4:38:45Tessa has just gone down. She is looking good. It seems like there

4:38:45 > 4:38:48was a lot of speed, and an extra little run at the top. Let's just

4:38:48 > 4:38:54hope it is not too windy. That is what we were all hoping. Access all

4:38:54 > 4:38:57areas in fact, you can see that on the BBC sport website, definitely

4:38:57 > 4:39:02worth looking at. As Aimee was hinting, that at that thing, that is

4:39:02 > 4:39:07the big air kicker, and we are about to see history made. You get the

4:39:07 > 4:39:11impression it is going to make a big impression in the Olympics.

4:39:11 > 4:39:18Qualification, the top 12 going through to Friday's final.

4:39:18 > 4:39:24Great Britain's Aimee Fuller, one of the riders that battled the

4:39:24 > 4:39:29conditions in slopestyle. Jack Shackleton is behind her, her coach.

4:39:29 > 4:39:39It will be interesting to see which direction she drops in. Coming in

4:39:39 > 4:39:49switch, she does have a cab double and a flip. Just sat back on the

4:39:49 > 4:39:56landing. The first double of the day goes down. So, so close. Just got

4:39:56 > 4:40:09the grab. A tiny tickle.Let's do this, guys!

4:40:09 > 4:40:13this, guys! Hi, everybody at home. Thanks for waking up early! We're

4:40:13 > 4:40:22going to get this, second time! Julia Marino.

4:40:22 > 4:40:35Silver medallist at the X Games two weeks ago. She has a double under

4:40:35 > 4:40:44flip. Coming in switch, with a cab double under flip. There is more

4:40:44 > 4:40:51rotation. It's difficult to see if it is a cab double Cork 900, or a

4:40:51 > 4:40:57double under flip. Let's look. For me, she is into a double backflip

4:40:57 > 4:41:02territory, there.

4:41:02 > 4:41:0883.70 five.

4:41:08 > 4:41:14She has been dominating this discipline. She was heartbroken to

4:41:14 > 4:41:23miss out in slopestyle. She redefined what women's slopestyle

4:41:23 > 4:41:30riding is at the US open ten months ago. Look at the result, gold at the

4:41:30 > 4:41:37X Games two weeks ago. She took the big air, first, she took first in

4:41:37 > 4:41:43Beijing and Milan. She has won every contest she has entered. Switch,

4:41:43 > 4:41:49double under flip. Very tidy. Very big. She was very courageous, and

4:41:49 > 4:41:54attempted this trick in slopestyle, but it didn't work for her. She was

4:41:54 > 4:42:00blown off course on the first of the three kickers. She came in here and

4:42:00 > 4:42:07laid that trick down. First go, making it look very, very easy.

4:42:10 > 4:42:20Anna Gasser moves 4.5 points into the lead. Laurie

4:42:20 > 4:42:23Anna Gasser moves 4.5 points into the lead. Laurie, silver medal in

4:42:23 > 4:42:28slopestyle. She did it in some style. The course gave her a decent

4:42:28 > 4:42:34black eye. She had a proper shiner on her left eye. So often the case,

4:42:34 > 4:42:38you see one person taking a medal and then they find their confidence.

4:42:38 > 4:42:50That could be the case here. Double and a 900. We saw that really nice,

4:42:50 > 4:42:58a horizontal rotation, mixed with the backflip. Carb double under cork

4:42:58 > 4:43:07900. Really clean on the landing. 19 point 95. Confidence has got her on

4:43:07 > 4:43:18a roll. Very impressive. Laurie Blouin, Anna Gasser and Julia Marino

4:43:18 > 4:43:21in the top three.

4:43:32 > 4:43:41So, some big names just outside the top spots.

4:43:50 > 4:43:57Aimee Fuller of Great Britain, we saw her try the cab double under

4:43:57 > 4:44:05flip on her first go. We're going to see that again. The regular footer,

4:44:05 > 4:44:16going in switch. She went up to a camp in Mount Hood. Went early! Went

4:44:16 > 4:44:22so big on the first hit that she tried to rotate slower on the second

4:44:22 > 4:44:29one. She has opened out. She hasn't been able to... Not getting the grab

4:44:29 > 4:44:33meant she opened up and it slowed down the rotation. At the same time,

4:44:33 > 4:44:36she didn't going with the same amount of speed. Disappointment for

4:44:36 > 4:44:40Aimee Fuller.Cheers, guys!

4:44:45 > 4:44:51Spencer O'Brien, the Canadian.

4:44:51 > 4:44:55One of the biggest names in the game. She has had so much success.

4:44:55 > 4:45:03She opened with a win this year. Can she find the big trek now?

4:45:10 > 4:45:16Spencer going off the toes again. So, very, very clean that time.

4:45:16 > 4:45:22She's gone for the same jump and cleaned it up. I feel like she's

4:45:22 > 4:45:26undersold herself here. She's capable of much, much more. She

4:45:26 > 4:45:33hasn't backed herself here. 76.75. Seventh place, facial expression

4:45:33 > 4:45:43said it all. She breathed a sigh of relief.

4:45:44 > 4:45:50We saw her go for the 1080, I really hope she goes for this again. I

4:45:50 > 4:45:58don't want to see her back off here. One of the biggest tricks we will

4:45:58 > 4:46:06see today if she can land it. She's lining up for it, yes. And it's

4:46:06 > 4:46:11down, yes!

4:46:11 > 4:46:15down, yes! Very, very nice. Sina Candrian delivers. And that is going

4:46:15 > 4:46:20to be one of the top five spots, most definitely. When we look at the

4:46:20 > 4:46:26tricks, there's a slight hand dragged there. Three full spins, see

4:46:26 > 4:46:34what she gets. Third place, very deserving me with an 86.

4:46:37 > 4:46:44Julia Marino, currently in fourth place.

4:46:44 > 4:46:49place. Lovely, that cab come a double under fit and more 900 in it

4:46:49 > 4:46:56that time. More horizontal axis. The Americans making their voices heard.

4:46:56 > 4:47:06Drifting, floating in. Nasty split in her pants there. The Nasser

4:47:06 > 4:47:14outfits weren't built. The boarding. Into fourth place just behind Sina

4:47:14 > 4:47:23Candrian. -- Nasa outfits. Zoi Sadowski Synnott has really

4:47:23 > 4:47:29impressed the snowboarding world. She had a huge double backflip on

4:47:29 > 4:47:35her first jump. What can she add? Where can she go? I don't think she

4:47:35 > 4:47:40can do that double backflip any better. Maybe she can keep it a bit

4:47:40 > 4:47:45tidier.

4:47:46 > 4:47:51tidier. Dropping in switch. Switch backside, yes... Oh, yes! That was

4:47:51 > 4:47:56absolutely beautiful. Switch backside spins are the hardest

4:47:56 > 4:48:02rotation in snowboarding. I thought she'd overcook it in the middle of

4:48:02 > 4:48:13that Cork. Switch backside 900. I think it's the most technical

4:48:13 > 4:48:22trick we've seen so far. The judges do, too. 92 points for the young New

4:48:22 > 4:48:26Zealander. All eyes on Jamie Anderson, currently in 20 Third

4:48:26 > 4:48:31Place will stop she is the apex predator of women's slopestyle.

4:48:31 > 4:48:36She's had a couple of good big a result of this season, fourth, but

4:48:36 > 4:48:42she doesn't win in which air the way she dominates slopestyle. The

4:48:42 > 4:48:49pressure is on. She drops in switch. Going for the cab double under. And

4:48:49 > 4:48:56in true Jamie Anderson style, she puts it down when it counts. She's

4:48:56 > 4:49:02got a good bit of rotation. It's not 90 degrees spin double flap 90

4:49:02 > 4:49:07degrees spin.

4:49:08 > 4:49:14degrees spin. 90 points. It puts her in above Anna Gasser. For me, Anna

4:49:14 > 4:49:26Gasser on the same trip was a little bit cleaner.

4:49:29 > 4:49:37Next in, Reira Iwabuchi sat in neither place on 90 points. She

4:49:37 > 4:49:42would be lucky to hold on to a qualification spot if she can't

4:49:42 > 4:49:49better that 80 points. -- sat in ninth place on 80 points. Drops in

4:49:49 > 4:49:57switch. So, we're not going to see the big trick that she's been

4:49:57 > 4:50:06warming up. Another switch 900. The switch frontside 900 with a stale

4:50:06 > 4:50:13fish grab on it. Look at that, perfect landing. Absolutely stumps

4:50:13 > 4:50:28it. 92.75, first place. Wow. Personally, I disagree with that. I

4:50:28 > 4:50:34think that Zoi Sadowski Synnott was definitely better. It's a harder

4:50:34 > 4:50:41rotation, but the judges rewarding the very, very clean and landing

4:50:41 > 4:50:50there, pop and the size of that jump. You could Fujimori, the

4:50:50 > 4:51:0331-year-old. , the second oldest here. Winds up. Lovely backside 900.

4:51:03 > 4:51:10Very, very nice. This is brilliant. We're starting to see exactly what

4:51:10 > 4:51:16the women are capable of. Look how stoked she is as well. Huge there.

4:51:16 > 4:51:21Great style. Holding onto that grab all the way through. And on the

4:51:21 > 4:51:29strength of the scores, this is going to be a big one. 94.25. It is

4:51:29 > 4:51:37just qualifying, but we are going through the gives very, very nicely.

4:51:37 > 4:51:40Starting to get some real momentum on this final. And this is yet

4:51:40 > 4:51:48another woman who could add some fuel to the fire. She's currently 12

4:51:48 > 4:51:59position on a 76. She needs this jump now to take her destiny into

4:51:59 > 4:52:04her own hands. Looking at those rankings, I've just noticed that

4:52:04 > 4:52:10Hailey Langland has dropped out of the top 12. So, dropping in switch.

4:52:10 > 4:52:18Double grab 900. She sits back just a little bit. Let's see it. Almost

4:52:18 > 4:52:28180... Oh, yes. Way better on the take. These grabs, it is the same

4:52:28 > 4:52:35hand, melon grab to save grab. We saw Zoi Sadowski Synnott and Reira

4:52:35 > 4:52:47Iwabuchi's landings. Cindy is point 50. -- 70 7.50. Anna Gasser is in

4:52:47 > 4:52:56sixth place. She was in second place at the end of round one, but way

4:52:56 > 4:53:04more consistency from some of the big guns. Can she reinstate herself

4:53:04 > 4:53:10at the top of the standings? Switch frontside double Cork 1080. That is

4:53:10 > 4:53:17the top spot. Wow, this is heating up very, very nicely now will stop

4:53:17 > 4:53:24we are seeing some really, really big tricks. This is what we missed

4:53:24 > 4:53:32out on in slopestyle be other day. Anna Gasser managing, did she keep

4:53:32 > 4:53:38the trailing arm of the spell as she lands? It was a tiny touch, but that

4:53:38 > 4:53:42big and progressive, looked at that smile will

4:53:42 > 4:53:44big and progressive, looked at that smile will.

4:53:45 > 4:54:02A 98, the judges send it now! Now it's the turn of Miyabi Onitsuka.

4:54:09 > 4:54:15Going for an even tidier version of her first jump, the cab 900. The

4:54:15 > 4:54:21jump is perfect for the women. Vaes been raving about it all week, and

4:54:21 > 4:54:26it really is giving us the very, very best of women's snowboarding at

4:54:26 > 4:54:33the moment. Miyabi Onitsuka letting go of that grab just a touch early

4:54:33 > 4:54:41there. It is 6.50. They are probably looking at Jessika Jenson and the

4:54:41 > 4:54:44bubble, and what they want to see. There is a very big gap at the

4:54:44 > 4:54:51moment between ninth and tenth. Julia Marino and Silje Norendal, and

4:54:51 > 4:54:56the judges probably saying the 85, mid 80s is where they would like to

4:54:56 > 4:55:04see the finals. Laurie Blouin will not have any bearing on those

4:55:04 > 4:55:07positions at the moment. It's only going to be the running order for

4:55:07 > 4:55:14the finals, because she is currently in fifth. She's gone huge. Sent it

4:55:14 > 4:55:22all the way to the bottom. Not as tidy as some of the cab double under

4:55:22 > 4:55:27flips we've seen, only because we did see her go enormous. What do the

4:55:27 > 4:55:31judges make of this? Do they want to see it clean or do they want to see

4:55:31 > 4:55:41it big? 92.25, she moves up one spot. Unbelievably, Zoi Sadowski

4:55:41 > 4:55:45Synnott's incredible switch backside 900 has now been pushed down into

4:55:45 > 4:55:52fifth place.

4:55:52 > 4:55:58fifth place. 2-1 in third, you could Fujimori in second, Anna Gasser in

4:55:58 > 4:56:05first. Jessika Jenson in desperate need of a big score. She had the off

4:56:05 > 4:56:17axis 720 in her first jump. Where can she go?

4:56:20 > 4:56:24Oh! . That's a really interesting decision. I don't know if she have

4:56:24 > 4:56:34gone any better. The first run was so perfect. I can only Sir Mize from

4:56:34 > 4:56:42that that it is her biggest trick. Dips the head here, underneath the

4:56:42 > 4:56:51board. Unorthodox rotation, but she makes it look so good. And it's

4:56:51 > 4:56:5539.75. We've been given a claims of exactly what the women are capable

4:56:55 > 4:57:01of here. Anna Gasser, number one seed, in World Cup, takes the lead

4:57:01 > 4:57:07and will drop last in final. The two women, Fujimori and it would be Wu

4:57:07 > 4:57:15Xi there. -- Reira Iwabuchi. An assured performance from the

4:57:15 > 4:57:1916-year-old. Spence O'Brien, Silje Norendal, two old hands just making

4:57:19 > 4:57:26qualification. Jessika Jenson Smeaton.

4:57:26 > 4:57:29Spectacular stuff. Aimee Fuller is fine, just a few bruises on the

4:57:29 > 4:57:33face, and she will tell you all about it on her video blog. A check

4:57:33 > 4:57:33on the

4:57:33 > 4:57:35about it on her video blog. A check on the medal table before we

4:57:35 > 4:57:43skedaddle stop with three golds on offer today, Canada have pushed up

4:57:43 > 4:57:47into third behind Germany and Norway. The Norwegians smashed their

4:57:47 > 4:57:52total number of medals in a single games, they have already got 28. And

4:57:52 > 4:58:00tonight, we will distil date ten for you.

4:58:02 > 4:58:06Live action overnight from just after midnight when one of the main

4:58:06 > 4:58:10attractions will be the deciding free dance on eyes. In the early

4:58:10 > 4:58:15hours, we will find out if Elise Christie is fit to give it a last go

4:58:15 > 4:58:16at the Olympics.

4:58:16 > 4:58:18Christie is fit to give it a last go at the Olympics. She will decide if

4:58:18 > 4:58:22the ankle injury after the crash on Saturday will mean she can skate.

4:58:22 > 4:58:26The word is she's very, very keen to skate. We will keep everything

4:58:26 > 4:58:31crossed she can. In the meantime from us all here, goodbye.

4:58:34 > 4:58:37Oh! Beautiful!

4:58:47 > 4:58:52That was beautiful hair. Christie has crashed again on the

4:58:52 > 4:59:02final bend! Yet again, she ends up in a distraught heap on the floor!
