0:00:51 > 0:00:58COMMENTATOR: Oh, they've gone down! I can't believe it, Christie has

0:00:58 > 0:01:08been penalised again!Elise Christie gets the chance to race the gold! A

0:01:08 > 0:01:16nation holds its breath...Christie is out of it once again! Elise

0:01:16 > 0:01:23Christie, to get into the Olympic final... And Christie has crashed

0:01:23 > 0:01:26again on the final bend! Yet again she ends up in a distraught heap on

0:01:26 > 0:01:30the floor!

0:01:35 > 0:01:38And getting up is something Elise Christie hopes to do again and

0:01:38 > 0:01:41today. Welcome to another lovely sunny day here in Pyeongchang. We

0:01:41 > 0:01:46have not had a definitive word yet on whether Elise Christie will line

0:01:46 > 0:01:50up in her heats later today, but we can tell you she has been on the ice

0:01:50 > 0:01:55this morning. She spent a full hour on the skates, and she still has a

0:01:55 > 0:02:00bit of time to make her mind up, her hit not taking place until this

0:02:00 > 0:02:04evening, just after ten o'clock in the morning at home. We are

0:02:04 > 0:02:09expecting an announcement from Team GB might soon. We will bring you any

0:02:09 > 0:02:14news once we get it. But there is still loads more to come here at the

0:02:14 > 0:02:19Winter Olympics as we go into day 11 and here is what is coming up over

0:02:19 > 0:02:27the next few hours. Team Muirhead are on the ice in their penultimate

0:02:27 > 0:02:31game of the round robin stages against Japan, one of their rivals

0:02:31 > 0:02:35for a semifinal place. Rowan Cheshire completes her incredible

0:02:35 > 0:02:39comeback from injury, she goes in the women's ski halfpipe final. We

0:02:39 > 0:02:43will see the conclusion of the ice dance competition, where Tessa

0:02:43 > 0:02:47Virtue and Scott Moir are going for a second Olympic title in this

0:02:47 > 0:02:52event. And we will be live at the ice hockey, Slovenia and Norway

0:02:52 > 0:02:55competing for the right to play the Olympic Athletes from Russia in the

0:02:55 > 0:03:04quarterfinals. If you were watching over on BBC One, you will see that

0:03:04 > 0:03:09the match between Great Britain and Japan had reached a crucial stage at

0:03:09 > 0:03:15the end of end four, so we're going to head straight back there. Let's

0:03:15 > 0:03:18rejoin our commentary team of Jackie Lockhart and Steve Cram.

0:03:23 > 0:03:26Well, while you were a way things have approved for Great Britain. Eve

0:03:26 > 0:03:33Muirhead played a nice shot in after Japan's third had not managed to

0:03:33 > 0:03:37improve the situation for them. And indeed the skip has just played

0:03:37 > 0:03:43another shot trying to take out two stones near the bottom edit this has

0:03:43 > 0:03:47improved things definitely. A bit of pressure now being applied by Eve

0:03:47 > 0:03:55Muirhead. Great Britain lying two. Although Japan have to hammer... The

0:03:55 > 0:04:02point of this end, I guess, Jackie, was either a steal or force one, so

0:04:02 > 0:04:06every opportunity?Yeah, it was not looking pretty at the beginning of

0:04:06 > 0:04:11the end, but some really nice shots right and and Eve and the game has

0:04:11 > 0:04:17really changed, because Japan have made a couple of mistakes. They had

0:04:17 > 0:04:21two chances to hit the Great Britain stone out and they failed to do

0:04:21 > 0:04:29that, so at the moment we are lying three shots.

0:04:31 > 0:04:36three shots. And she's going to have to make a play on these two and I

0:04:36 > 0:04:41think just take her one if she hits them correctly. There's no way she

0:04:41 > 0:04:46can move that Blackstone, is there? She's looking at it ambitiously,

0:04:46 > 0:04:50there is no way?I definitely don't think so, she's got to make a play

0:04:50 > 0:04:55on these two in the 4ft.The cheers are ringing around, just to remind

0:04:55 > 0:05:00you that there are two other matches taking place here. Canada have

0:05:00 > 0:05:03picked up... They must have got a steal. They've gone 3-2 ahead

0:05:03 > 0:05:14against China. Sorry, I tell a fib! No, I'm not! It's been a long week

0:05:14 > 0:05:23and a half! Anyway, Canada lead that 13-2. USA playing Korea, this full

0:05:23 > 0:05:28house today hoping that Korea women's team can continue in the way

0:05:28 > 0:05:33in which they've been playing so far. They top the table. Great

0:05:33 > 0:05:42Britain and Japan, in this battle in the middle of it Canada and

0:05:42 > 0:05:44the middle of it Canada and others as well, and Great Britain have got

0:05:44 > 0:05:51Japan above them but a win for Great Britain would turn the tables. So,

0:05:51 > 0:06:02all to play for here. Top four only, of course, go into the semifinals.

0:06:02 > 0:06:09If they are tied, we have tie-breaks, which are on Thursday.

0:06:10 > 0:06:17Thursday morning here, it will be Wednesday midnight at home. Now, how

0:06:17 > 0:06:26is this...? Oh! Now, stayed, stay, stay! That might be a steal! Great

0:06:26 > 0:06:31Britain is steel won by about an inch. Did not quite work out at all

0:06:31 > 0:06:35for Japan. So, after a couple of errors, Great Britain forcing the

0:06:35 > 0:06:40steal. And it's all tied up, much better scoreboard from a British

0:06:40 > 0:06:46perspective. And now, instead of looking at a deficit towards

0:06:46 > 0:06:50halfway, Japan still have the hammer, but it might have been a

0:06:50 > 0:06:56difficult deficit to turn around, but they have tied this up and as we

0:06:56 > 0:07:00enter the fifth end, a bit more confidence for the British women.

0:07:00 > 0:07:04Yeah, Anna Sloan played a really, really nice stone, right in find a

0:07:04 > 0:07:12lot of mess out front, onto the 4ft, and that really set up that end to

0:07:12 > 0:07:15create that steal attrition followed by a couple of errors from Japan,

0:07:15 > 0:07:24but that's a great end there.Great jacket, too.

0:07:25 > 0:07:31jacket, too. Can't miss him in the crowd!

0:07:32 > 0:07:35crowd! Well, they're watching the match which is taking place next to

0:07:35 > 0:07:44this rate Britain-Japan match. Korea-USA.

0:07:44 > 0:07:50Korea-USA. There are not many empty seats, a few people standing on the

0:07:50 > 0:07:56back walls, a lot of people walking around between ends as well, so I

0:07:56 > 0:08:00think probably if everyone sat in their seats, I'm not quite sure

0:08:00 > 0:08:09there's enough seats!

0:08:13 > 0:08:23STEVE CRAM: Right, I think now this is the point at which Eve, Anna,

0:08:23 > 0:08:27Vicki and Lauren really need to pull together. They've got themselves

0:08:27 > 0:08:32back in this. Difficult start, giving up three at the second end.

0:08:32 > 0:08:36They've managed to level this up. And now, what that means as well as,

0:08:36 > 0:08:42the hammer has switched I guess in Britain's favour, we will have it in

0:08:42 > 0:08:48the sixth, eighth and the tenth. If the play goes according to plan,

0:08:48 > 0:08:54yeah.

0:08:54 > 0:09:00yeah. So, Yurika Yoshida just overthrowing that there. Not getting

0:09:00 > 0:09:07it quite how they wanted it.And those little mistakes that crept

0:09:07 > 0:09:12into the shots from the Japanese team in that previous end, that sits

0:09:12 > 0:09:17with them as well.

0:09:17 > 0:09:20with them as well. Lauren Gray, just watching this one intently. We've

0:09:20 > 0:09:26got a good view of it as well. Just a little roll would be good as pass

0:09:26 > 0:09:32might get that... Just rolls over half a stone more than she would

0:09:32 > 0:09:40have liked, but not a bad shot. Yeah, from the other end, Yurika

0:09:40 > 0:09:45Yoshida can see that just picking out the other side, so choosing to

0:09:45 > 0:09:49play the clockwise rotation to this.

0:10:12 > 0:10:16STEVE CRAM: I think it was Suzuki who sent one through in the previous

0:10:16 > 0:10:22end, was it? I'm just trying to think, a series of poor shots at the

0:10:22 > 0:10:26everybody on your team is making big shots, it always seems like it

0:10:26 > 0:10:33becomes infectious as well.

0:10:45 > 0:10:51JACKIE LOCKHART: So, Vicki Adams playing just to freeze on top of

0:10:51 > 0:10:56that yellow.

0:10:56 > 0:11:01that yellow. Vicki's mum not here, actually, this week but she's at

0:11:01 > 0:11:04home, finding this all very difficult to watch as a parent! Hope

0:11:04 > 0:11:22you're doing OK there, Kate. That is a nice stone, it's tee-high.

0:11:29 > 0:11:37Yeah, good effort there. The Japanese team here playing strange

0:11:37 > 0:11:41tactics for me. They've got the hammer, but snap quite happy to

0:11:41 > 0:11:45leave that centre guard on, in most cases you would be saying, clear

0:11:45 > 0:11:49that up.Yeah, I thought at first she was half suggesting to get rid

0:11:49 > 0:11:58of that centre guard, but...

0:11:58 > 0:11:59of that centre guard, but... Just hatches that red and just moves

0:11:59 > 0:12:09across. Still in the 8ft.

0:12:15 > 0:12:19Korea pulled one back against the USA, it's 3-2, Mr chance to pick up

0:12:19 > 0:12:25if.

0:12:25 > 0:12:33if. -- to pick up two. If the USA were to win that one, that puts them

0:12:33 > 0:12:39on five and three as well.Yeah, we could end up having a real bunfight

0:12:39 > 0:12:43in the middle of the pack here. USA's last matches against Sweden.

0:12:43 > 0:12:48So, the girls really need to bring this right up on top. Try and pull

0:12:48 > 0:12:54it as far as they can... And that's a lovely shot from Vicki.Yeah, a

0:12:54 > 0:12:59couple of good shots from Vicki. Just trying to set this up again,

0:12:59 > 0:13:05make it hard for Japan to get there two.

0:13:17 > 0:13:26You can see again, she's just trying to... She's looking for a hit and

0:13:26 > 0:13:31roll across?Axe line just to come onto the red. She's just going to

0:13:31 > 0:13:39sit on the red?Yeah. Just create some movement and sham space. But

0:13:39 > 0:13:50she's really playing a strange game here.

0:13:59 > 0:14:03These stones when they deliver them really look like they're high, but

0:14:03 > 0:14:08they've got a lot of curl at the end.

0:14:21 > 0:14:26PLAYER: It's either that or we just pick it.That was actually my first

0:14:26 > 0:14:33call... STEVE CRAM: Anna Sloan just wanting

0:14:33 > 0:14:36to pick that, it will disappear between the red and the yellow at

0:14:36 > 0:14:41the back with a bit of luck, if she catches it right. Showing a bit of

0:14:41 > 0:14:51confidence from Anna Sloan as well. This looks pretty good. Lycett shot.

0:14:51 > 0:15:00That was a nice throw.Yeah, and is warming to the task.

0:15:15 > 0:15:19You can just see the thought process, not so straightforward for

0:15:19 > 0:15:25Fujisawa now, starting to look at that guard. Maybe even trying to run

0:15:25 > 0:15:33it back onto the other red. She's fancying a little hit and flop over.

0:15:41 > 0:15:47She is changing her mind again. Unfortunately for Japan, the red

0:15:47 > 0:15:53stone at the front is causing a bit of bother at the moment. They can't

0:15:53 > 0:15:59see the right angles for getting the double. They will just have to try

0:15:59 > 0:16:05and play a control play and flopped in behind.

0:16:05 > 0:16:11That was the original call from the skip.

0:16:15 > 0:16:24A little straight, maybe. Just Mrs that back Stone so it is still out

0:16:24 > 0:16:28there for Eve Muirhead now to ask Anna Sloan to play a similar or

0:16:28 > 0:16:36better shot than that one. Yoshida not able to hit and roll in. Just a

0:16:36 > 0:16:45width or more. After that nice to pick with that last stone, Anna

0:16:45 > 0:16:49Sloan, hoping she can follow that up with another good shot. It looks a

0:16:49 > 0:16:54little better if it holds its line. Looking for the role if they can get

0:16:54 > 0:17:00it. Oh, what a good shot. That is a

0:17:00 > 0:17:04cracker from Anna Sloan, two wonderful shots, she played a nice

0:17:04 > 0:17:16setup in the previous end as well. Eventually we are going to see Japan

0:17:16 > 0:17:21clear that front. She was to drive it onto the red at the bottom or

0:17:21 > 0:17:27catch the red in the wing. The one that has caused the problems, she

0:17:27 > 0:17:32left it there, she played an unusual strategy the first stones thrown.

0:17:32 > 0:17:42This might go between them. It did. Right between them. We have got The

0:17:42 > 0:17:47Great Beauty is time. Watching that, you could see where she was going to

0:17:47 > 0:17:55hit it, it was tight. If you want to play that, it is difficult to get it

0:17:55 > 0:18:00to squeeze between those two reds, but there was enough of a gap. We

0:18:00 > 0:18:07are left with two reds sitting shot, two skips left to play.

0:18:07 > 0:18:10Even just wants to replace that guard anywhere in the centre is

0:18:10 > 0:18:20good.

0:18:23 > 0:18:35In the last two Benz, we have seen them keep the pressure on -- ends.

0:18:37 > 0:18:41Saying to Vicki, it is going to overcome.

0:18:41 > 0:18:45Yes, if it goes right across the other side. They want to stop it

0:18:45 > 0:18:57half and Hough.About there. -- half. That is frustrating.

0:19:00 > 0:19:08Just frustrating. You might be thinking that is OK. We can see from

0:19:08 > 0:19:15this end she has a good view of this.

0:19:24 > 0:19:31Even forcing one here would be a good result.

0:19:36 > 0:19:44Looking at Fujisawa, 56%, she hasn't been going that well, mind you, Eve

0:19:44 > 0:19:52Muirhead, 61%. That draw wasn't the best. You can see the stats, but it

0:19:52 > 0:19:55only tells you half the story because if you make the right shop

0:19:55 > 0:20:01at the right time...

0:20:07 > 0:20:13Just hoping to get a little roll the cross. That is a nice stone. I

0:20:13 > 0:20:21thought they had lost it, over sweat it, then they left it.

0:20:23 > 0:20:30it, then they left it. -- swept. That back stone will be a help to

0:20:30 > 0:20:36them now. There are a couple of options. They

0:20:36 > 0:20:42were looking at tapping the yellow through.

0:20:44 > 0:20:50through. But you have the danger of tapping it right out.

0:20:50 > 0:20:54You don't want to leave a shot put three, put it that way.

0:20:54 > 0:21:02They were looking at it, ignoring it, putting a shot in the house.

0:21:23 > 0:21:30I think Ely is tempted, that yellow will go past the red and catch the

0:21:30 > 0:21:39other red. And then you are just giving up one.

0:21:39 > 0:21:49giving up one. Altadore which needs -- really needs to be accurate.

0:22:02 > 0:22:08Had this been later in the game and every shot counted, but we are early

0:22:08 > 0:22:12in the game. This is a good call. If it doesn't work and you lose a big

0:22:12 > 0:22:17end. If she catches this right and goes

0:22:17 > 0:22:23past the red onto the yellow at the back, it has got a chance. Eve

0:22:23 > 0:22:27Muirhead has played a corker, a great shot from Eve Muirhead. And

0:22:27 > 0:22:35now that means, smiles all round for everybody, it means Japan will only

0:22:35 > 0:22:42be able to take one here. A good selection of shot and great

0:22:42 > 0:22:48execution from the skip. She was worried it would jam but it

0:22:48 > 0:22:56just caught the right side of it. Again, that is another... It takes

0:22:56 > 0:23:01the wind out on the sales of Japan, they thought maybe they had a chance

0:23:01 > 0:23:06of something good here. She had to make sure of a one. She has to hold

0:23:06 > 0:23:11it.

0:23:11 > 0:23:17it. I was thinking, get your one here. I was so excited about the

0:23:17 > 0:23:23other shot. We were thinking, what is she doing? She is blanking the

0:23:23 > 0:23:30end. We have reached the halfway point in this very important match

0:23:30 > 0:23:38for GB. After a tussle, it is all tied.

0:23:39 > 0:23:43EILIDH: And falling staff at the Curling Centre, we will be right

0:23:43 > 0:23:43back after the mid-game

0:23:47 > 0:23:51Imagine spending years of your life dedicating yourself to training

0:23:51 > 0:23:56comic eating, living right, then seeing some success at the Junior

0:23:56 > 0:24:00World Championships in the year before the Games, only to be told

0:24:00 > 0:24:03five months before boarding the plane to Pyeongchang that your

0:24:03 > 0:24:08funding is being cut completely. Something Mica McNeill and make or

0:24:08 > 0:24:16have had to overcome just to be here. -- Mica Moore.

0:24:16 > 0:24:20All of the hard use your work thinking this is an Olympic Games,

0:24:20 > 0:24:24we want to be in the best shape possible, then it gets stopped.

0:24:24 > 0:24:30It was heartbreaking.

0:24:30 > 0:24:35It was heartbreaking.BBC sport understands a British bobsleigh is

0:24:35 > 0:24:39set to withdraw five months before the Winter Olympics. Mica McNeill

0:24:39 > 0:24:43says she is gutted and shot to be told there was no money left to fund

0:24:43 > 0:24:55her team because of an overspend. It was my career, it was as low as

0:24:55 > 0:24:59you can get. You have worked hard. It is crushed. You don't know if you

0:24:59 > 0:25:06can turn around from that. Athletes don't just give up. We

0:25:06 > 0:25:13really have to be positive and there has to be something we can do. We

0:25:13 > 0:25:23just had to try. Obviously, learning that we weren't

0:25:23 > 0:25:29going to get our funding for the winter was difficult but I think

0:25:29 > 0:25:34that we instantly came together with a plan that we could move forwards

0:25:34 > 0:25:39because the season was coming around very quickly. We did that very well.

0:25:39 > 0:25:48A lot of hard work into it. I honestly didn't know if it was

0:25:48 > 0:25:53going to work. I thought we might get a terrible response, a lot of

0:25:53 > 0:25:58criticism for setting it up. We set it up and it started rolling. I

0:25:58 > 0:26:07think it was day six we hit 28 grand. It was so emotional. I was

0:26:07 > 0:26:11shopping one day with my mum, she said, what are you doing? I started

0:26:11 > 0:26:20crying because it was so overwhelming.

0:26:21 > 0:26:25Bobsleigh is such a small sport, you don't think people are watching all

0:26:25 > 0:26:29looking out for your results. To learn that people were willing to

0:26:29 > 0:26:33support us and help us on our journey was amazing.

0:26:33 > 0:26:37We want to say thank you for your contribution to our campaign.

0:26:37 > 0:26:42We have had a good few days back on the and we are excited about our

0:26:42 > 0:26:46season. We can't thank people enough. Some

0:26:46 > 0:26:50people would put money in there and not don't actually how much it means

0:26:50 > 0:26:57to our team. At any major championships anything

0:26:57 > 0:27:03can happen. It is whoever performs on the day. What we have been

0:27:03 > 0:27:07working towards is getting that consistency and making sure we can

0:27:07 > 0:27:13perform on the day. The Olympics is every athletes's

0:27:13 > 0:27:19dream. It is the highest level that you can compete at. It would mean,

0:27:19 > 0:27:23just to get there, it is so special and to be competing for a medal is

0:27:23 > 0:27:25absolutely incredible.

0:27:30 > 0:27:34A great story of never giving up on your dreams and it shows what it

0:27:34 > 0:27:39means to where the Olympic rings. Mica McNeill has warned before at

0:27:39 > 0:27:44junior level, Solver at the youth Olympics, alongside Jazmin Sawyers,

0:27:44 > 0:27:48long jumper. They have looked pretty good in

0:27:48 > 0:27:53training at Pyeongchang. They aren't expected to medal but sometimes when

0:27:53 > 0:27:56fuelled by determination anything can happen. We will see them in,

0:27:56 > 0:28:03edition for the first time today, their first two runs out at 11:50am.

0:28:03 > 0:28:07Let us head back to the curling where it is very tight between GB

0:28:07 > 0:28:14and Japan, a must win game for Eve Muirhead if they are to have their

0:28:14 > 0:28:20destiny in their own hands ahead of the semifinal stages. Just the top

0:28:20 > 0:28:24four go through. Their penultimate game. Back to Jackie Lockhart and

0:28:24 > 0:28:24Steve

0:28:28 > 0:28:32All hanging in the balance. In match with Great Britain have got

0:28:32 > 0:28:36themselves back into after a tricky start. They are playing better than

0:28:36 > 0:28:50they were. 3-3. The Japanese three all coming in the second end.

0:28:53 > 0:28:57all coming in the second end. Eve Muirhead thinking a bit shocked, the

0:28:57 > 0:29:05Japanese ASCAP decided to blank the end. -- Eve Muirhead with a great

0:29:05 > 0:29:12shot. The Japanese skipper decided to blank the end.

0:29:12 > 0:29:21The task again is to try to limit the scoring. Big cheers go up, Korea

0:29:21 > 0:29:25are playing USA and I can tell you there has been a significant score

0:29:25 > 0:29:31in the match between China and Canada, China picked up three in the

0:29:31 > 0:29:40fifth end. They are leading Canada 5-3. That would be a match in which

0:29:40 > 0:29:45it China would win, that would help GB, if Korea were to beat USA, that

0:29:45 > 0:29:50would help Great Britain. Lots of permutations still

0:29:50 > 0:29:59available. The first step went right to the back on the centre line. --

0:29:59 > 0:30:06first stone. What we have seen is Japan making

0:30:06 > 0:30:11some really terrible errors and allowing us to keep in this game. We

0:30:11 > 0:30:15have showed real resilience to stay in the game.

0:30:15 > 0:30:19What you need to do, once you have stayed in the game, to take control

0:30:19 > 0:30:20of it.

0:30:27 > 0:30:34The Japanese front end have been setting up Fujisawa to finish off

0:30:34 > 0:30:38the end, and she just hasn't been doing that. Eve has been playing

0:30:38 > 0:30:44really well in the latter stages, when she has two, so kick if we can

0:30:44 > 0:30:51break the concentration of the Japanese team here and pull ahead.

0:30:52 > 0:30:55Japanese team here and pull ahead.A big roar going up and I will update

0:30:55 > 0:30:59you with what is happening in the other match. A nice stone there from

0:30:59 > 0:31:09Yurika Yoshida. Well, Dave picked up four, Korea. It's all very noisy in

0:31:09 > 0:31:15the stadium! These Korean women are taking this competition by the

0:31:15 > 0:31:22scruff of the neck, they are playing exceptionally well.

0:31:22 > 0:31:26exceptionally well. And they've just taken a 6-43 lead at the halfway

0:31:26 > 0:31:38point in their match with the USA. --

0:31:38 > 0:31:50-- a 6-3 lead. A double takeout there from Vicki.The little pocket

0:31:50 > 0:31:58rocket, as I've named her!Just looking at the stats of the teams,

0:31:58 > 0:32:02nobody's doing particularly well, but in the Japanese team, you've got

0:32:02 > 0:32:10the lead, Yurika Yoshida, playing 94%, the other one playing 75%, then

0:32:10 > 0:32:1768% and then 65%.And that really relates to what I said. The Japanese

0:32:17 > 0:32:20team are setting themselves up but they're just not finishing it off.

0:32:20 > 0:32:26And if we could capitalise on that, then all credit to us.And another

0:32:26 > 0:32:30mistake there. That one going all the way through.

0:32:30 > 0:32:35JACKIE LOCKHART: So, a real chance for us now machine we don't have the

0:32:35 > 0:32:45hammer, to come around that guard. STEVE CRAM: There is a buzz here in

0:32:45 > 0:32:49the stadium and they have all come to see the Korean team win, but

0:32:49 > 0:32:51they're watching these other matches as well. Right Britain against

0:32:51 > 0:32:57Japan. China versus Canada. All of the games at this stage of the

0:32:57 > 0:33:03competition are a vital. Just watching this one come in, a little

0:33:03 > 0:33:14bit more would be useful... Just getting half covered.Yep, it's just

0:33:14 > 0:33:28finish to in the teal part of the rings there! That was a good sweep!

0:33:29 > 0:33:35Are Japan now going to play the sensible game and clear the guard,

0:33:35 > 0:33:43which they didn't do in the last end?

0:33:48 > 0:33:53Yumi Suzuki is having a pretty good game in terms of stats, she hasn't

0:33:53 > 0:33:58had to do too much, though. Well, she sticks one. One has gone but the

0:33:58 > 0:34:02otherwise has stayed in the house. Still got those two out front as

0:34:02 > 0:34:08well, one is their own.

0:34:11 > 0:34:16well, one is their own.So, Eve happy to leave a red at the top of

0:34:16 > 0:34:19the house as a guard. She's going to come in the other side that she will

0:34:19 > 0:34:28want to sit tee-high if possible. It is a nice gap to come through. Anna

0:34:28 > 0:34:36Sloan has played a couple of great shots the last couple of events. --

0:34:36 > 0:34:39the last couple of ends. How close is that going to get to the guard?

0:34:39 > 0:34:45It looks as though it is heading that way...Are we passed the

0:34:45 > 0:34:51guards? I don't think we are... Keep it coming, they just need to

0:34:51 > 0:34:59catch...Keep going! That's OK because it has closed up about side.

0:34:59 > 0:35:07It may well be useful. It is in a tricky place, just making it

0:35:07 > 0:35:14difficult for Japan to come in. So, which one is she going to move, this

0:35:14 > 0:35:21one here...?She's going to go for the shot she sees, but I still think

0:35:21 > 0:35:25the yellow at the front is going to cause her trouble and she

0:35:25 > 0:35:30potentially should be utilising her high centre guard but she doesn't

0:35:30 > 0:35:34want into the pack, but she's just going to ignore it and hit the one

0:35:34 > 0:35:38in the house.Like you said it almost seems like a waste of a stone

0:35:38 > 0:35:43in the sense that she could get rid of maybe two instead of one. It

0:35:43 > 0:35:47might not have come off but at least could have attempted it and at the

0:35:47 > 0:35:52very worst she would have got rid of that front guard. That's not a bad

0:35:52 > 0:36:03result tassles just coming across onto this right-hand side.

0:36:03 > 0:36:05onto this right-hand side. This is the open side that Eve Muirhead

0:36:05 > 0:36:13wants to come in on now, with Anna Sloan. So, still another great

0:36:13 > 0:36:17opportunity here for us to get one in. Top of the red would be really

0:36:17 > 0:36:18good.

0:36:23 > 0:36:30Anna thinks it is heavy. Asking them to lay off sweeping, not going to

0:36:30 > 0:36:35need any help... Doesn't look that heavy, does it?No, it doesn't!

0:36:35 > 0:36:42Could be perfect, actually! They need to work this, try and get it in

0:36:42 > 0:36:48as much as they can and get it tucked in as well. Almost into the

0:36:48 > 0:36:514ft. I don't know what's going to thought she had laid out there but

0:36:51 > 0:36:58it was a nice stone! A little smile from Anna.

0:36:59 > 0:37:07from Anna. Sloan the stone! Let's start giving them nicknames! Like

0:37:07 > 0:37:16when you play Phil The Power Taylor! I've already got Vicki the pocket

0:37:16 > 0:37:22rocket! I'll go with that!

0:37:26 > 0:37:35So, Chinami Yoshida has been struggling a little bit.

0:37:37 > 0:37:39struggling a little bit. Well, it clears things up a little bit out

0:37:39 > 0:37:46front. So, she will be pleased with that shot. Just for one minute

0:37:46 > 0:37:54thought she might have caught that a little skinny, but does the job.

0:37:54 > 0:37:58little skinny, but does the job.I think we are sitting two reds at the

0:37:58 > 0:38:07moment.We are.The Japanese skip is having a look herself. So, just a

0:38:07 > 0:38:19guard here from Eve. Centreline would be OK.So, it's fast becoming

0:38:19 > 0:38:25a battle of the skips. It often is, but given that there has been quite

0:38:25 > 0:38:31open situations, when the two skips come to the hack, and Eve Muirhead,

0:38:31 > 0:38:42after a slightly wobbly start... Starting to find her accuracy. Now,

0:38:42 > 0:38:46just wants to get this right on the centreline if she can.Got to sweep

0:38:46 > 0:38:52it now... Got to take it a little bit further if they can... We might

0:38:52 > 0:38:58actually have just given a glimpse therefore the yellow to be pushed

0:38:58 > 0:39:06onto the red.

0:39:07 > 0:39:12onto the red. She did say she wanted to split the line, but I think

0:39:12 > 0:39:16probably closer, so it's more difficult for Japan. We have left I

0:39:16 > 0:39:23think all of that yellow visible. It has to be hit properly, fully on the

0:39:23 > 0:39:29nose, to... Yeah, we can see the angle better from that camera angle.

0:39:29 > 0:39:36But if she had sit fully on the nose, it won't be shot. Unless if

0:39:36 > 0:39:40she does hit it and it takes the British stone at the back out as

0:39:40 > 0:39:45well.

0:39:45 > 0:39:53well. I think she was just looking to catch it slightly off centre.

0:40:00 > 0:40:03Well, Dave stayed off this completely.Yeah, don't want to lose

0:40:03 > 0:40:09their shooter.Well, that's another mistake there from the Japanese

0:40:09 > 0:40:15skip.

0:40:15 > 0:40:21skip. They're just about lying second shot there. At that British

0:40:21 > 0:40:27stone is still there, Eve Muirhead with one to play. She must be

0:40:27 > 0:40:32getting a little frustrated with herself. I thought she was going to

0:40:32 > 0:40:43play that with a bit more weight. Even at that weight I'm not sure it

0:40:43 > 0:40:48would have moved.I think if she had made a fuller connection with the

0:40:48 > 0:40:54yellow she might have got a bit of momentum, but when you just catch

0:40:54 > 0:40:58the edge, you don't get that momentum running through the stone.

0:41:12 > 0:41:14Talking about momentum, there has been a bit of a shift towards Great

0:41:14 > 0:41:18Britain in this match - it is still tied up, but the last three ends, it

0:41:18 > 0:41:21has been Britain who have been in the driving seat. So, Eve Muirhead

0:41:21 > 0:41:24just wants to come in on the top of the 4ft here, on the other side.

0:41:24 > 0:41:30Yeah, if we can get both of these level, then it is a really difficult

0:41:30 > 0:41:39shot for Japan.

0:41:39 > 0:41:43shot for Japan. So, we really wanted to be level, but we've come just in

0:41:43 > 0:41:46behind it, so there is an opportunity for Japan to hit that

0:41:46 > 0:41:50and remove both of them. The only thing I would say is, the red stone

0:41:50 > 0:42:00at the back is lying ahead of the other two yellows.Yes, it is.My

0:42:00 > 0:42:07head hurts! It is lying third shot! Anyway it is ahead of the two

0:42:07 > 0:42:17yellows, it is closer! I think what Eve has got to keep doing here, as

0:42:17 > 0:42:22we've seen the Japanese skip is struggling, and Eve just has to keep

0:42:22 > 0:42:30asking the questions, keep saying to Fujisawa, come and make the shot.

0:42:30 > 0:42:37Keep the pressure on.Again, if she doesn't get this right, then the

0:42:37 > 0:42:44British stone is going to stay, we'll get the steal. There is a high

0:42:44 > 0:42:49red card out there, got to get past the guard... Is she passed the

0:42:49 > 0:42:56guard...?It might just get by. But not enough, we could be two here.

0:42:56 > 0:43:06Even...Three?Did Anna just move that stone? It went out of the

0:43:06 > 0:43:08house.That's going to be three, then. This could be a huge

0:43:08 > 0:43:13turnaround for Great Britain. Eve Muirhead set that up and I think

0:43:13 > 0:43:18Anna Sloan set it up as well, some nice play from the whole team, Vicki

0:43:18 > 0:43:23Adams played a couple of nice shots early in that end. So, all of a

0:43:23 > 0:43:27sudden, a complete change around in this match. Japan have not managed

0:43:27 > 0:43:35to score since the second end and from being 3-1 down, Great Britain

0:43:35 > 0:43:46now, after six pence, lead 6-3. And the skip for Japan is having a bit

0:43:46 > 0:43:50of a shocker.Number she's certainly not stepping up to the mark today,

0:43:50 > 0:43:58that's for sure. And you're right, we've been putting the pressure on

0:43:58 > 0:44:04constantly, and she just hasn't been answering the question. A really

0:44:04 > 0:44:07great end from Great Britain, and that will have boosted their

0:44:07 > 0:44:12confidence into the last four ends that we've got to play.They won't

0:44:12 > 0:44:16be looking elsewhere at all because they have got to concentrate on

0:44:16 > 0:44:20this, but I will keep you up to date. And there have only picked up

0:44:20 > 0:44:25one when they had the hammer in the sixth end, so China still leader

0:44:25 > 0:44:36that one. USA, after Korea took four in the fifth, they're 6-3 down

0:44:36 > 0:44:47against Korea. So far, so good.

0:44:53 > 0:44:59It has gone a little bit quiet amongst the Japanese contingent.

0:44:59 > 0:45:02There were a lot of smiles and good chatter and communication earlier

0:45:02 > 0:45:09on. Inevitably, they must be feeling... Well, I would think the

0:45:09 > 0:45:12first two must be thinking, we haven't done anything wrong here, or

0:45:12 > 0:45:19not much one. You win together and you lose together.

0:45:19 > 0:45:21you lose together.Yeah, the Japanese team were setting

0:45:21 > 0:45:26themselves up really well in the first half of this game. And there's

0:45:26 > 0:45:31nothing you can do if your skip is not having a good game, you've just

0:45:31 > 0:45:34got to keep persevering and hope that she comes good. And really that

0:45:34 > 0:45:37was the only difference at the beginning of the game, and we were

0:45:37 > 0:45:42holding ourselves in there. But that sixth end there was really well

0:45:42 > 0:45:47played.

0:45:47 > 0:45:56played. Japan, giving us the option, by leaving their centre guards on,

0:45:56 > 0:46:01that's really strange, they did that in the fifth and sixth as well, and

0:46:01 > 0:46:04for me, strategically is now playing the wrong game. That's what happens

0:46:04 > 0:46:10under pressure, you're not thinking straight.

0:46:10 > 0:46:15straight. Although they were leading, after about the third end,

0:46:15 > 0:46:19it was almost as if... They were not being defensive but we were in the

0:46:19 > 0:46:23driving seat and they were getting drawn into what Great Britain was

0:46:23 > 0:46:26trying to do, and they were not thinking straight, not making the

0:46:26 > 0:46:35simple decisions. I still think, when your skip is starting to

0:46:35 > 0:46:38struggle, and more often than not it is the skip who has got to make the

0:46:38 > 0:46:44shot decisions as well, then your team is going to struggle. Still

0:46:44 > 0:46:49time for Japan to turn this around, though, this is the seventh end. The

0:46:49 > 0:46:53good news again, if you're just getting up this morning to this

0:46:53 > 0:46:56crucial match between Great Britain and Japan, it has all been turned

0:46:56 > 0:47:01around, it's going well, and Great Britain will have the hammer... I've

0:47:01 > 0:47:06been saying who is going to have the hammer in which end but it just

0:47:06 > 0:47:10hasn't worked out that way. But at the moment it would be the eighth

0:47:10 > 0:47:16and the tenth, which would be good.

0:47:43 > 0:47:46Always the danger, watching the men this morning when they took a big

0:47:46 > 0:47:52lead, they then increased it. Just keep the pressure on. If the job is

0:47:52 > 0:47:57not done here by any stretch of the imagination, they have the play as

0:47:57 > 0:48:03if it was still 3-3. You have two manage the scoreboard. In terms of

0:48:03 > 0:48:14intensity, concentration,... A little harder for Japan to hide

0:48:14 > 0:48:19behind that high yellow god, just edging it out. As a result we can

0:48:19 > 0:48:22see it clearly and she will want to remove this.

0:48:29 > 0:48:40Vicki played a couple of really good shots in the previous end.

0:48:40 > 0:48:47That is OK.A decent position. Unfortunately it has come behind the

0:48:47 > 0:48:52team line, and opportunity for Japan to sit on it. I think they would

0:48:52 > 0:49:08have liked to have kept it further across the sheet -- T-line.

0:49:20 > 0:49:30Yumi Suzuki here. It is looking all right. Getting it as far as they

0:49:30 > 0:49:32can. Not quite getting there, not bad

0:49:32 > 0:49:38attempt. Still just missing their shots a

0:49:38 > 0:49:42little bit. When it comes to the skip, there's little Mrs mean so

0:49:42 > 0:49:48much more.

0:49:48 > 0:49:56much more. -- misses. Eve Muirhead has her arm out, it looks wide on

0:49:56 > 0:50:06that side.

0:50:07 > 0:50:11They still have two breads lined up, pushing the yellow outcome still

0:50:11 > 0:50:17lying shot, not quite the result Eve was after. Nevertheless, not too

0:50:17 > 0:50:24much damage. One of the things that people maybe

0:50:24 > 0:50:33don't realise, Eve Muirhead, her standing in the sport is very high.

0:50:33 > 0:50:38There is a lot of respect for her abilities as skip internationally.

0:50:38 > 0:50:42When other skips come up against Eve when she is starting to play well,

0:50:42 > 0:50:48that must have a bearing on how they play. When it comes down to the last

0:50:48 > 0:50:52three ends, they note Eve Muirhead has the ability if she is playing

0:50:52 > 0:50:57well to make the big shots and the right decisions.

0:50:57 > 0:51:02Playing against a skip with her credibility, it can be a point or

0:51:02 > 0:51:06two on the board before you have started because the position may be

0:51:06 > 0:51:14scared of who they are playing. -- the opposition. Almost there, not

0:51:14 > 0:51:19quite getting right on top of that red, let us see what Eve is

0:51:19 > 0:51:27suggesting. We are hearing a lot of the other

0:51:27 > 0:51:39players, you don't need a microphone on hand!

0:51:39 > 0:51:44Anna Sloan's voice is telling the whole crowd.

0:51:44 > 0:51:51I don't occasionally be odd word slips in that shouldn't do, it is

0:51:51 > 0:51:55from the players. They all have microphones. If they do show their

0:51:55 > 0:52:00frustration in a way they shouldn't, there is usually a word from the

0:52:00 > 0:52:05umpire at some point. It is not us!Hopefully we have a

0:52:05 > 0:52:08good crowd watching at home this morning.

0:52:11 > 0:52:18If you are getting up for work, hang in there. If this match goes on for

0:52:18 > 0:52:21an extra round it will go on the longer.

0:52:21 > 0:52:29That could be quite good. A nice shot. But we don't want you to be

0:52:29 > 0:52:35late getting into work or score. It is score holidays. If there are

0:52:35 > 0:52:39any young kids watching if they are rock...

0:52:39 > 0:52:46Did you ever get up this early on your score holidays? If they are up.

0:52:46 > 0:52:50I did. And they will be up to watch the curling. And if mum and dad want

0:52:50 > 0:52:58to take you to the curling, please go to the Internet and look at the

0:52:58 > 0:53:06try curling website, and find a curling rink close to you. Take your

0:53:06 > 0:53:18kids along or even yourself to have a go. And the BBC inspired website,

0:53:18 > 0:53:22for ideas on how to keep yourself fit.

0:53:22 > 0:53:26A nice shot, she is controlling that.

0:53:26 > 0:53:32It is still sitting out there, she got a little nick from the first

0:53:32 > 0:53:38red, trying to get inside. If she had just got past that and pushed

0:53:38 > 0:53:42that redback and gone in a little bit, it would be much better for

0:53:42 > 0:53:49her. We either have to take that hit on

0:53:49 > 0:53:55the nose rather than avoiding it, which is a good call. On the topic

0:53:55 > 0:54:00of spreading the love for curling, the World Junior Championships will

0:54:00 > 0:54:06be taking place in Aberdeen, from 3-10 March. Any youngsters or

0:54:06 > 0:54:14parents who want to watch shone Julia Carling, for McCutcheon watch

0:54:14 > 0:54:22some junior curling. I will be perfectly to watch and support the

0:54:22 > 0:54:26Scottish teams playing in that. A great opportunity to see some of

0:54:26 > 0:54:32these elite athletes playing at the top of their sport.

0:54:32 > 0:54:37We have many world junior champions, former world junior champion is here

0:54:37 > 0:54:42taking part in the Olympics. So you might be -- you might see future

0:54:42 > 0:54:49medallists.Eve was a five times junior world champion. All of these

0:54:49 > 0:54:56kids with huge omission to be the best and get to the Olympics games

0:54:56 > 0:55:03and win a medal.

0:55:03 > 0:55:07and win a medal.I am being told those World Junior Championships you

0:55:07 > 0:55:13can see on the BBC sport website. That is fantastic. If you are in the

0:55:13 > 0:55:19crowd, we will spot you there.

0:55:20 > 0:55:24crowd, we will spot you there. That is good news, coverage of curling,

0:55:24 > 0:55:34every Olympics, everybody gets excited about it, and good to see

0:55:34 > 0:55:38the junior World Championships. The next Winter Olympic Games in

0:55:38 > 0:55:48Beijing. The World Championships are held every year. Usually in March.

0:55:48 > 0:55:58March- April.

0:55:58 > 0:56:04March- April. The Olympic curling, edition... Actually, let us talk

0:56:04 > 0:56:11about that later. This is important. Fujisawa facing these three British

0:56:11 > 0:56:16stones, Eve Muirhead has played well. One more stone to go. Tried to

0:56:16 > 0:56:25get two. She has done well.Eve might have the chance to run that

0:56:25 > 0:56:28fact. Both on the same side, if Eve can

0:56:28 > 0:56:34lift these than the two yellows, we can put the pressure back on again.

0:56:34 > 0:56:41Remind me to come back to that. It is not a hard question, just

0:56:41 > 0:56:49curious. Eve Muirhead has played some smart

0:56:49 > 0:56:56shots in the last three, and Buffer ends, attempting to remove both

0:56:56 > 0:57:07these yellows, if she can get these right -- the last three or four

0:57:07 > 0:57:14ends.

0:57:15 > 0:57:19Well, sadly, it just didn't move that yellow stone enough to be lying

0:57:19 > 0:57:29to move beyond the two British rates. A chance for Japan -- reds.

0:57:29 > 0:57:35That was close. This will put Japan ) in it. With a one shot lead, three

0:57:35 > 0:57:47to go. She has got to be accurate. She has to be careful. She wants to

0:57:47 > 0:57:54roll in. If she over Carlos, she could jam it back onto her own

0:57:54 > 0:57:58yellow. Fujisawa, needing to find a good

0:57:58 > 0:58:05shot. She has not been playing well at all.

0:58:05 > 0:58:10at all. They are not touching this at all. They are trying to hold it

0:58:10 > 0:58:18now. Where is that going? It might just hang on. It will. Japan get

0:58:18 > 0:58:23their two and we now have a match which is much closer. It looked as

0:58:23 > 0:58:28if that Britain might limit them to one, Eve Muirhead couldn't quite get

0:58:28 > 0:58:33the double take out, just missing the back stone, didn't quite catch

0:58:33 > 0:58:39enough of it. After seven ends, one shot in it. Great Britain will have

0:58:39 > 0:58:45the hammer in the eighth and the tenth.

0:58:45 > 0:58:51Your question? At the Olympic Games, everyone is getting interested in

0:58:51 > 0:58:56curling, men and women together, the World Championships, you always have

0:58:56 > 0:59:00in separate venues. Wouldn't it be more interesting from a television

0:59:00 > 0:59:04perspective Round The World Yacht Race to have the World Championships

0:59:04 > 0:59:07with the men and women playing together.

0:59:07 > 0:59:14That is how it should be. But the sponsors... The last time I

0:59:14 > 0:59:19played... I won't mention any names of sponsors, the last time I played

0:59:19 > 0:59:23in the World Championships in 2004, that was the last time men and women

0:59:23 > 0:59:30play together. It makes it difficult for the coaches, the ice people,

0:59:30 > 0:59:40support staff. You have senior and mixed doubles men and women, a lot

0:59:40 > 0:59:50of events. It has been done to create sponsors taking individual

0:59:50 > 0:59:55championships. They tried a championship in Canada and Europe. I

0:59:55 > 1:00:01liked it, it was better for the audience to watch both. The world

1:00:01 > 1:00:04Federation decided to keep it separate.

1:00:04 > 1:00:09Does that help? I was just curious why you wouldn't put the two

1:00:09 > 1:00:16together. Like everything in life, it comes

1:00:16 > 1:00:24down to money. It makes it more attractive to

1:00:24 > 1:00:27television around the world to have them together which would help with

1:00:27 > 1:00:37sponsorship. Anyway, it was a question well answered!

1:00:39 > 1:00:45We've still got a real match on here, three ends to go. They will be

1:00:45 > 1:00:52looking to restore their lead of three with eight good end here.

1:00:52 > 1:00:58Lauren Gray, the lead, just outing that stone on the left-hand side of

1:00:58 > 1:01:04the house as they look at it. You can see the comparison between the

1:01:04 > 1:01:09two leads the younger of the Yoshida sisters has played well, so has

1:01:09 > 1:01:14Lauren Gray. It has been at the other end of the Japanese team,

1:01:14 > 1:01:17really, that things have been a bit of a struggle. Although they managed

1:01:17 > 1:01:24to get the two in that previous end.

1:01:30 > 1:01:42So, long guard put out there. Quick update, elsewhere, Korea still

1:01:42 > 1:01:49leading 6-4 over the USA. China blanked the seventh end and have

1:01:49 > 1:01:56taken the hammer into the eighth. They still lead 5-4 over Canada.

1:01:56 > 1:02:07Canada having picked one up in the sixth. That is a little error there.

1:02:07 > 1:02:18She must have under thrown that and we have tapped the yellow in.

1:02:35 > 1:02:38Still got plenty of people in watching this, a really good

1:02:38 > 1:02:48atmosphere. USA fans chanting, Korean fans responding.

1:02:52 > 1:02:55Korean fans responding. And Canada against China. So, a butler mistake

1:02:55 > 1:03:02there from Lauren. Yumi Suzuki trying to capitalise, coming all the

1:03:02 > 1:03:11way round. That's a decent draw from her.

1:03:11 > 1:03:16her. I love it how they go, nicer! So, this is where we see the

1:03:16 > 1:03:20different game play wheel previously, Japan would have ignored

1:03:20 > 1:03:27the centres, but Eve being well educated in the strategy of the

1:03:27 > 1:03:30game, quite happy to clear up the front here. Great Britain have got

1:03:30 > 1:03:32the hammer.

1:03:40 > 1:03:49That's worked out pretty well.

1:03:49 > 1:03:53That's not so much of a danger, particularly having cleaned things

1:03:53 > 1:04:01out a little bit up front. And it has taken them all away from the 4ft

1:04:01 > 1:04:08area, that red circle.So, that's improved matters. Important that we

1:04:08 > 1:04:11get the two, or at least we keep control of this match now, having

1:04:11 > 1:04:21got ahead. Three ends left. Keep scoring, and you win this. That's

1:04:21 > 1:04:29sat just about on the button.Just probably a foot too far, but we're

1:04:29 > 1:04:33not going to worry about that, because we're going to use some of

1:04:33 > 1:04:41the reds out the front to come onto it. The girls having to shout quite

1:04:41 > 1:04:44loud to each other machine the crowds are cheering on their local

1:04:44 > 1:04:51Korean team.Yeah, every time we come to the conclusion of an end, as

1:04:51 > 1:04:58we did just there, then there's a bit of noise. Korea have picked up

1:04:58 > 1:05:03one, so that's 7-4 now, so the crowd are staying pretty happy. That Adams

1:05:03 > 1:05:10just having to concentrate, lock all of that out. -- Vicki Adams.

1:05:16 > 1:05:22Nice shot. Took a yellow in the house out as well.It did. Well,

1:05:22 > 1:05:25this is cleaning up quite nicely at the moment. Fujisawa looking to

1:05:25 > 1:05:35replace that. She has that shot on the button, is deal to make it as

1:05:35 > 1:05:40difficult as possible for Eve Muirhead to get there. Still four

1:05:40 > 1:05:45stones left.

1:05:55 > 1:05:59Great Britain's men had a comfortable victory over Norway this

1:05:59 > 1:06:04morning, which set them up nicely, as they've now won five matches. The

1:06:04 > 1:06:07British women want to join them on the same score, which would put them

1:06:07 > 1:06:10in a good position in the table. Their last match is against Canada.

1:06:10 > 1:06:16Canada, of course, pregames medal favourites, who have been struggling

1:06:16 > 1:06:25in this round robin competition. They're at three and three, but they

1:06:25 > 1:06:30are trailing China at the moment, although it is close. So, Great

1:06:30 > 1:06:35Britain really want to win this one against Japan. Although they won't

1:06:35 > 1:06:39be too concerned looking elsewhere, it would be very good for the

1:06:39 > 1:06:46British cause if Korea were to beat USA. And they're leading 7-4 at the

1:06:46 > 1:06:50moment. And if China were to beat Canada. So, let's listen to Eve

1:06:50 > 1:06:57here. They have asked for a time-out.

1:06:57 > 1:07:04PLAYER: I just think we've got a chance to move it from here...

1:07:04 > 1:07:09chance to move it from here...Would that be an option...?Can you get

1:07:09 > 1:07:17both?I think you're always leaving one up here.I'm just worried if we

1:07:17 > 1:07:21go for that and miss it and they come here.If you miss that and they

1:07:21 > 1:07:27go there... That's completely different between the two shots.Why

1:07:27 > 1:07:36can't we just peel the tight one? That's not bad.Right now, half a

1:07:36 > 1:07:42stone, that's my only...We've got to move it at one point. You want to

1:07:42 > 1:07:50move it, who you're thinking half? You don't think that's out there?

1:07:50 > 1:07:54The only thing I'm thinking is, we could move it and if we do that,

1:07:54 > 1:08:00that's fine, too.You're going to choke up the draw, that's all.I

1:08:00 > 1:08:07just think we need to score here.I think if we go for...If you're

1:08:07 > 1:08:12going to go for it, try and get that one.We almost want them coming to

1:08:12 > 1:08:16try to get a shot around that.If you do that what's she going to do?

1:08:16 > 1:08:24I think she might come here. STEVE CRAM: Well, they only had

1:08:24 > 1:08:28three seconds left there when they finally seemed to reach some sort of

1:08:28 > 1:08:35conclusion! So, my latest new term - choke off the draw!

1:08:35 > 1:08:41JACKIE LOCKHART: Yeah, we're learning all the new terminology

1:08:41 > 1:08:47from the Canadians! There is the difference of bringing in a Canadian

1:08:47 > 1:08:51into the strategy of it. The girls thought they were going to peel off

1:08:51 > 1:08:54the top guard but they didn't want to because they thought it was too

1:08:54 > 1:09:02long civil...He has asked them to do

1:09:03 > 1:09:09do that, yeah. Well, there is still that red out there, it is a long way

1:09:09 > 1:09:17out. He is -- Eve is going to have to be accurate.I'm not sure that's

1:09:17 > 1:09:25better.But he was very concerned, I think he's thinking Eve needs to be

1:09:25 > 1:09:31able to draw for digital.Yep, and what was really difficult was, the

1:09:31 > 1:09:35guards were all in a line down the playing field, and it is really

1:09:35 > 1:09:39difficult to get those two out without staying yourselves, and

1:09:39 > 1:09:44that's what we saw happen. The Great Britain stone has stayed in front

1:09:44 > 1:09:48and it is still acting as a centre guard for Japan.Still got three

1:09:48 > 1:09:53stones left. This one is just about going to get round, is it? Not

1:09:53 > 1:09:57quite. Still helping protect that yellow. It's a long way down there,

1:09:57 > 1:10:05though.Yeah, they had to be much, much closer to the house. This is a

1:10:05 > 1:10:08slightly off macro angle, so it should be much easier to lift both

1:10:08 > 1:10:18of them, and roll yourself to open up that 4ft.

1:10:18 > 1:10:23So, Anna Sloan, trying to take both of these are, her own and the

1:10:23 > 1:10:29yellow.Would have been nice if that had hit that one as well! Didn't

1:10:29 > 1:10:32quite go across, it's still sitting out there. At least it's not right

1:10:32 > 1:10:37on the centreline, gives them something to work off as well. I

1:10:37 > 1:10:43think she's just going to try and replace the guard. So, this is when

1:10:43 > 1:10:48the skips, we've said about Fujisawa, her team really need her

1:10:48 > 1:10:57to find her accuracy here. Because she's been struggling all the way

1:10:57 > 1:11:02through, and particularly...

1:11:02 > 1:11:05through, and particularly... She's running at 61% average across the

1:11:05 > 1:11:16shots generally. So, Eve is just coming to check ice that they take.

1:11:16 > 1:11:23Standing right behind the brush being held by Yoshida.

1:11:26 > 1:11:36being held by Yoshida. So, Fujisawa is trying to put a guard back in.

1:11:47 > 1:11:54She just wants to stop on the centreline.

1:11:54 > 1:11:58centreline.Write down the middle of the sheet there. Not bothered about

1:11:58 > 1:12:11being in the house. That's better. Well, it's 6-5. If you do get just

1:12:11 > 1:12:17one, then a lead of two with two ends left, not a bad position to be

1:12:17 > 1:12:19in, you would normally take that, particularly with having the hammer

1:12:19 > 1:12:25in the final end.

1:12:25 > 1:12:28in the final end. If they were to blank the ninth, they would still be

1:12:28 > 1:12:35needing their two.So, Eve can't see any of, she would have to play like

1:12:35 > 1:12:41a back ring weight to come onto the top of it and just tap it back. We

1:12:41 > 1:12:45have to be careful that we get the right line of the stone machine if

1:12:45 > 1:12:51they tapped off it, then it is an easy stone for Japan to remove. So,

1:12:51 > 1:12:56Eve Muirhead hoping to continue in the way in which she's been playing.

1:12:56 > 1:13:03This is going to be tight again... It needs to be tight, but... Looking

1:13:03 > 1:13:11all right, for line.

1:13:11 > 1:13:22Please, shot.Just taps it back six inches, and it's still just above

1:13:22 > 1:13:33the tee line. Is she going to try and come in off the side?

1:13:33 > 1:13:40and come in off the side? There was a bit of acai there!

1:13:48 > 1:13:57They haven't used a time out yet.We desperately won't want to lose a two

1:13:57 > 1:14:00here, and we have given ourselves every opportunity of picking up a

1:14:00 > 1:14:08two in this end. The trouble is, there's a red high out of the house,

1:14:08 > 1:14:15and it's whether you can get enough. Yeah, she can see enough of it.

1:14:15 > 1:14:22Well, it is an ambitious looking shot she's after again here. That's

1:14:22 > 1:14:29where you need to hit it, right there. She can afford to be a little

1:14:29 > 1:14:33on the inside, because she is going to run... I don't know if there is a

1:14:33 > 1:14:37hole in between the red and yellow, but she might just catch one of them

1:14:37 > 1:14:45and stay in that area.

1:14:45 > 1:14:48and stay in that area.Well, she's got to be incredibly accurate here.

1:14:48 > 1:14:52She's just trying to see where... I think she was kind of hoping to play

1:14:52 > 1:14:57one of those shots, the yellow comes across, hits her yellow and rebounds

1:14:57 > 1:15:04back into the red and pushes it back of the button.Yeah, because the red

1:15:04 > 1:15:09and the yellow on the outside, they're too flat. She's almost going

1:15:09 > 1:15:16to have to use her own yellow here. And she will hope to get a rebound,

1:15:16 > 1:15:21she wants to catch that yellow which is on the red in the 4ft and rebound

1:15:21 > 1:15:28back into the red.

1:15:28 > 1:15:34It is a big shot and it would be a cracking shot if it comes off.

1:15:34 > 1:15:42Satsuki Fujisawa trying to limit Great Britain's opportunity to get

1:15:42 > 1:15:46two. She needs plenty of weight with this to get around the red in the

1:15:46 > 1:15:53right way. It is tight. Just catches it. Just catching the

1:15:53 > 1:15:58guard. That makes things a lot easier for

1:15:58 > 1:16:09Eve Muirhead. All the way down that was looking close. She didn't have

1:16:09 > 1:16:15to be as tight. She was wanting the inside of her yellow to come off and

1:16:15 > 1:16:19get a big enough load to get into the centre of the house. An

1:16:19 > 1:16:27opportunity for us to pick up two. Eve Muirhead has forced the

1:16:27 > 1:16:33situation herself, it is up to her to make it work. That yellow is

1:16:33 > 1:16:39close. She doesn't want to chip her own

1:16:39 > 1:16:49bread.One is better than none. -- her own red. This is really high at

1:16:49 > 1:16:53the moment.I would rather that than the other way. She wants to bring it

1:16:53 > 1:17:01in now. I am not sure it has got enough on it. Not good enough. What

1:17:01 > 1:17:12she was doing is airing on the side of caution. Only getting one.

1:17:19 > 1:17:28They will get the hammer in the final end. At the moment, it is a

1:17:28 > 1:17:36two shot lead.

1:17:36 > 1:17:40two shot lead. Eight end completed. Two to go. You can see Eve was

1:17:40 > 1:17:45thinking, I do not want to move my own red out of shot position, she

1:17:45 > 1:17:50needed to be a little wider to run through to the yellow on the back.

1:17:50 > 1:17:54Not quite there on that occasion. That previous stone she played was

1:17:54 > 1:18:02good. A mistake again, another from the Japanese skip leaves Great

1:18:02 > 1:18:06Britain still in control. Elsewhere, China have picked up one

1:18:06 > 1:18:14in the eighth. All to play for. 6-4 in favour of China over Canada.

1:18:14 > 1:18:19Canada have the hammer in the night. Korea still in charge of their

1:18:19 > 1:18:29match, over USI, 7-4 -- USA.

1:18:29 > 1:18:35match, over USI, 7-4 -- USA. Good morning everybody at home tuning in.

1:18:35 > 1:18:42Tuning into a little bit more curling, having your breakfast. And

1:18:42 > 1:18:46watching these teams who have had a good condition, Japan really have

1:18:46 > 1:18:53surprised a lot of people to be in contention. Their last two matches

1:18:53 > 1:18:59against Great Britain and Switzerland.

1:18:59 > 1:19:05Switzerland. A good position coming into this with five wins, but no

1:19:05 > 1:19:10guarantee five wins and four bosses would get them through. Great

1:19:10 > 1:19:15Britain have to win this first against Japan, then they face Canada

1:19:15 > 1:19:25with their final match, with a record of five and four, would see

1:19:25 > 1:19:28you in the tie-break match. Six and three and you will definitely be

1:19:28 > 1:19:40through. Five and four may be good enough to go through.

1:19:43 > 1:19:49USA picked up two over Korea, that is still in the balance. Didn't look

1:19:49 > 1:19:58as if that was going to happen. 7-6, career lead.

1:19:59 > 1:20:07career lead. -- Korea. Japan with the hammer.

1:20:08 > 1:20:17the hammer. Those two stones coming to rest side by side.

1:20:17 > 1:20:28Yurika Yoshida, the younger sister, two years younger.

1:20:28 > 1:20:34Putting the two corner guards up.

1:20:35 > 1:20:41A little short with that one.

1:20:41 > 1:20:47After four stones played, then you can remove the guards, they have

1:20:47 > 1:20:56protected up to that point.

1:20:56 > 1:20:59protected up to that point. Eve Muirhead asking Vicki Adams to

1:20:59 > 1:21:12remove this one. I always think the last three ends,

1:21:12 > 1:21:15that is when you see the good players really come to the fore,

1:21:15 > 1:21:22make their shots, the skips making the right decision. Reading the

1:21:22 > 1:21:34game, we the situation. Eve Muirhead try to keep control of this.

1:21:34 > 1:21:45Very much about managing the pressure at this stage of the game.

1:21:45 > 1:21:50Tactics here, Japan using these two stones of Great Britain to sit in

1:21:50 > 1:21:56front, make them hard to remove. A corner will be the one that will

1:21:56 > 1:22:04cause trouble. They need to get one in behind. A little mistake or error

1:22:04 > 1:22:10of judgment and Japan could have the opportunity to create two.

1:22:10 > 1:22:14They really want to hit this and roll it out of the house.

1:22:19 > 1:22:24Not the best position to be in, in front of those stones. A little

1:22:24 > 1:22:32mistake from Vicki.

1:22:33 > 1:22:38Here are the permutations. Japan will be hoping to get there another

1:22:38 > 1:22:42two and tie it up, Great Britain would have the hammer in the final

1:22:42 > 1:22:50end and one would be enough to win. Japan I don't think we'll be in a

1:22:50 > 1:22:55situation where this end will end up being blanked.

1:22:55 > 1:23:01Anything other than a 22 for Japan really is going to give Great

1:23:01 > 1:23:09Britain a massive opportunity, even if Japan were to steal, a little tap

1:23:09 > 1:23:12back there, it wouldn't be enough to win.

1:23:12 > 1:23:17And obviously if Great Britain got a steal here, that would be a good

1:23:17 > 1:23:26position to be in. We would be three ahead. All of that to be played out.

1:23:26 > 1:23:32In these next few minutes. When you think that the Great

1:23:32 > 1:23:39Britain after five games had only two wins and three buses -- losses,

1:23:39 > 1:23:49and a win here would be a massive confidence booster. So what is she

1:23:49 > 1:23:54thinking here, Eve?

1:23:58 > 1:24:02They would like to get rid of both of these killers but it might jam on

1:24:02 > 1:24:09the back.

1:24:09 > 1:24:17No more time outs for Great Britain.

1:24:17 > 1:24:25Japan still get to use theirs. You saw Glen Howard looking on, he will

1:24:25 > 1:24:30leave it up to them now. Little signals are not allowed.

1:24:30 > 1:24:38Definitely not allowed.Not even little hand signals.

1:24:38 > 1:24:43We have umpires on the ace and they will be checking, looking up for

1:24:43 > 1:24:52guidance from the coaches. They are only allowed a one minute time-out.

1:24:52 > 1:25:00That is OK.

1:25:00 > 1:25:09Not bad. Not bad, she says. There is an

1:25:09 > 1:25:13opportunity to catch the red and tap the yellow back and push the read a

1:25:13 > 1:25:22little bit. She went on to put too much weight on it -- Push the red.

1:25:24 > 1:25:28-- she won't want to put too much weight on it.

1:25:28 > 1:25:34A little bit of tap dancing here required!

1:25:34 > 1:25:37Chinami Yoshida.

1:25:51 > 1:25:58That was a very gentle tap. Was the yellow a target?

1:25:58 > 1:26:02The red is safe in there at the minute. It is the way the angles are

1:26:02 > 1:26:05sitting.

1:26:13 > 1:26:20She is not going for that. The decisions now, no time outs now, the

1:26:20 > 1:26:30decisions have to be Eve's. Eve just looking to take that centre

1:26:30 > 1:26:39line again. This is where her experience now

1:26:39 > 1:26:45tells you, do you always forget she has been to three Olympic Games and

1:26:45 > 1:26:47multiple World Championships. These guys are the current European

1:26:47 > 1:26:53champions, of course.

1:26:53 > 1:27:01champions, of course. Right on the centre line. Just trying to protect

1:27:01 > 1:27:07them. Now, Japan wanting to shift them out

1:27:07 > 1:27:13of there. To try and get a clear run in, a clear look at what is going

1:27:13 > 1:27:18on. They desperately need their two, Japan.

1:27:26 > 1:27:33Yoshida. I think she has overthrown this.

1:27:33 > 1:27:40She has jammed it on. Again, the mistakes have been there. If you are

1:27:40 > 1:27:44just tuning in, a difficult start for Great Britain. They only picked

1:27:44 > 1:27:50up one with the hammer in the first end. Japan managed to pick up three

1:27:50 > 1:27:55in the second end. 3-1 up at that point. We clawed our way back into

1:27:55 > 1:28:05it. Got it to 3-3 at the halfway point. Great Britain answered with a

1:28:05 > 1:28:13three, a steal of three. That lead of 6-3. Since then, they had been

1:28:13 > 1:28:17trading scores. It has been the mistakes from Japan that Great

1:28:17 > 1:28:23Britain have been able to capitalise on to put them in this position.

1:28:23 > 1:28:29We have to make sure to guard this up. We don't want to leave that

1:28:29 > 1:28:34yellow open and let Japan get to tap it.

1:28:34 > 1:28:42That might look a long way away but from where we are sitting... It is

1:28:42 > 1:28:46making the line into that yellow very difficult indeed. With Great

1:28:46 > 1:28:55Britain line shot here, the idea is to try and force or get Japan... She

1:28:55 > 1:29:00still thinks she can see that through that tiny gap through there.

1:29:00 > 1:29:05Enough to get a stone through but this has got to be good. What she is

1:29:05 > 1:29:13looking at here is kind of a turnout across the centre line.

1:29:13 > 1:29:19A clockwise rotation down the centre line, turning towards the right. She

1:29:19 > 1:29:24has a high red guard to manipulate, a yellow in the house, this has got

1:29:24 > 1:29:29to be a great shot. Very difficult. She will try to

1:29:29 > 1:29:38swing through this gap between the two reds.Is she there? She captures

1:29:38 > 1:29:43her own. Tapping it in but not enough. Still an opportunity, Great

1:29:43 > 1:29:48Britain still have shot. That was a brave shot to take on. She almost

1:29:48 > 1:29:54made it. Just that little neck. All these things make a difference, it

1:29:54 > 1:30:02alters the angle for the second stone, just to them. She wasn't able

1:30:02 > 1:30:05to move the British stone, just glanced it. Great Britain still

1:30:05 > 1:30:13lying shot. We need to guard up. Soon she can't

1:30:13 > 1:30:16get to the one.

1:30:20 > 1:30:25PLAYER:If she knows it is this front red...

1:30:25 > 1:30:31She is looking for the run back.We can't cover both options, either

1:30:31 > 1:30:38choose to cover the run back and leave her with the draw to the one

1:30:38 > 1:30:46foot, 481. Kocher I would rather that, because that is one, and you

1:30:46 > 1:30:50have the hammer for the final end. Eve Muirhead settling for safety

1:30:50 > 1:30:51first here.

1:31:10 > 1:31:17Don't line them up, don't line them up!

1:31:17 > 1:31:26Well, that's the option.Just don't know where the red at the top of the

1:31:26 > 1:31:34house is going to go.Would you just not play the draw here?If she gets

1:31:34 > 1:31:38this right, she could actually have two yellows in the house, but...It

1:31:38 > 1:31:46could go horribly wrong as well. Here we go, then. You're going to

1:31:46 > 1:31:49see some stones moving around here. She haven't given that much weight,

1:31:49 > 1:31:57though.She's still trying the same shot! She can't see any of those

1:31:57 > 1:32:04stones, Chouly?! That's going to catch the red...So, a steal of one

1:32:04 > 1:32:07for Great Britain. And that might well be the match here for Great

1:32:07 > 1:32:14Britain, with one more end to go. I don't think she could see hardly any

1:32:14 > 1:32:18of that yellow. She could see two or three inches first-time and she

1:32:18 > 1:32:22didn't make that. She could at least have had a go to draw in for the

1:32:22 > 1:32:30one. She didn't make it,

1:32:30 > 1:32:32one. She didn't make it, so another steal for Great Britain, things

1:32:32 > 1:32:35looking good for Great Britain. Well, that was smart from Eve

1:32:35 > 1:32:41Muirhead.

1:32:41 > 1:32:44Muirhead. There might have been the opportunity for her to move those

1:32:44 > 1:32:50stones around, the Rossi was there but she didn't fancy it. She was

1:32:50 > 1:32:56really going for that yellow do you think?I think she was going to chip

1:32:56 > 1:33:00the red out.But she had hardly any weight to do that, either.I know,

1:33:00 > 1:33:06it was a big call.

1:33:06 > 1:33:08it was a big call.Well, Eve Muirhead won't be complaining about

1:33:08 > 1:33:13that. Great Britain have taken this match and turned it around from the

1:33:13 > 1:33:22second end after a disappointing start. They have got their act

1:33:22 > 1:33:28together, Eve in particular. And so, with Japan needing three here, Great

1:33:28 > 1:33:34Britain won't be giving them anything to work with. So,

1:33:34 > 1:33:43excitement elsewhere as well. Korea, in the ninth end, still leading USA

1:33:43 > 1:33:50sevensix. And Canada are still trailing China by one. They picked

1:33:50 > 1:33:56upper one in the ninth. So, China have the hammer and are leading by

1:33:56 > 1:34:06one. Well!That could have a real impact on...Well, let's just put it

1:34:06 > 1:34:12this way. If, and it is still and if, Great Britain beat Japan here,

1:34:12 > 1:34:15then Great Britain could put Canada out of these Olympic Games if they

1:34:15 > 1:34:19were to be them in the final match of the round robin. Got to win this

1:34:19 > 1:34:26match first, of course. But a win against Canada would guarantee Great

1:34:26 > 1:34:31Britain in the semifinals, and if Canada lose that much - there's a

1:34:31 > 1:34:37lot of ifs here...

1:34:42 > 1:34:46The point about Eve and her team is, they've got into a winning habit

1:34:46 > 1:34:55now. If they win this one, it's three in a row. Two guards being put

1:34:55 > 1:35:00up by Japan. Cheers are ringing round for the match involving Korea.

1:35:00 > 1:35:05I'll tell you what they've scored in that ninth end - in fact they've

1:35:05 > 1:35:10scored two, so they look in charge there as well. That's a good result

1:35:10 > 1:35:14for Great Britain as well, Korea leading over USA, in the sense that

1:35:14 > 1:35:19Korea go marching on if they win that one, top of the table, but it

1:35:19 > 1:35:25puts paid to the USA's chances of getting past Great Britain. So far,

1:35:25 > 1:35:33so good.Yeah, and sport is all about peaking at the right time, and

1:35:33 > 1:35:37if I'm looking at this team down here, I think it is now doing that

1:35:37 > 1:35:42now. The team as a whole are all starting to perform well. What I

1:35:42 > 1:35:47like about this team is, the three that gave up in that second end,

1:35:47 > 1:35:52didn't start the match well, there wasn't any sense of panic, there

1:35:52 > 1:35:56wasn't any sense of looking at each other going, what are we doing,

1:35:56 > 1:36:00guys? It was just calmly going about their business and waiting for the

1:36:00 > 1:36:07opportunities to arise, forcing bad shots from Japan. And they came, and

1:36:07 > 1:36:13when they camp other jumped all over it and got that big score in the

1:36:13 > 1:36:18sixth end, when they picked up three and turned the match around. And all

1:36:18 > 1:36:23they need to do here is to make sure they don't do anything silly, and

1:36:23 > 1:36:29every stone that gets sent down here, every takeout, Japan have to

1:36:29 > 1:36:33score three to tie this up. And Eve Muirhead will be trying to make sure

1:36:33 > 1:36:42that doesn't happen.

1:37:01 > 1:37:08So, the first one in. So, what Eve Muirhead will do is just remove the

1:37:08 > 1:37:13guard.

1:37:19 > 1:37:26Anna Sloan, Vicki Adams, Lauren Gray, they've all played their part

1:37:26 > 1:37:29in this victory and indeed in the big match yesterday, that was a

1:37:29 > 1:37:36great team performance. Smiles all around from Vicki. We hardly ever

1:37:36 > 1:37:41see and are without a smile. And they know that they're close to

1:37:41 > 1:37:56wrapping this one up. Just no mistakes from here on in.

1:38:01 > 1:38:06Chinami Yoshida. Japan still have a chance of qualifying, even with this

1:38:06 > 1:38:09defeat, depending on how results go elsewhere. I say that, they haven't

1:38:09 > 1:38:15lost it yet.

1:38:15 > 1:38:20lost it yet. They need a three.I know, just not giving it away yet!

1:38:20 > 1:38:26This time I'm positive!

1:38:39 > 1:38:46Be impossible for Japan to get three. -- becoming increasingly

1:38:46 > 1:38:53impossible. How do you assess this performance, Jackie?I think the

1:38:53 > 1:38:57girls came out and Japan put some pressure on, but the girls reacted

1:38:57 > 1:39:03straight back and kept themselves in the game. As much as Japan have made

1:39:03 > 1:39:06the error is, we've capitalised every time they've made these

1:39:06 > 1:39:10errors, so that's a positive that we want to keep moving forward. The

1:39:10 > 1:39:15team dynamics are strong, the communication is good, and Eve is

1:39:15 > 1:39:19playing really well. I can see she's got that confidence back, and I

1:39:19 > 1:39:23think she was missing that in the start of the week, so I'm really

1:39:23 > 1:39:25positive about these girls definitely making the play-offs, and

1:39:25 > 1:39:30after that it is a whole new ball game.Well, one of the keys to this

1:39:30 > 1:39:35victory as well as that Japan have five wins already, Great Britain

1:39:35 > 1:39:39would move to five if we wrap this up. Japan have one more match, so do

1:39:39 > 1:39:47Great Britain. So, if Japan ended up with 5-4, they could still qualify

1:39:47 > 1:39:52themselves, but the fact that we've beaten Japan in the round robin,

1:39:52 > 1:39:55even if we had the same record, if it came to a choice between the two,

1:39:55 > 1:40:04then we get ranked higher because of the round robin result of.

1:40:06 > 1:40:11the round robin result of. -- result. So, they will play these

1:40:11 > 1:40:17stones out. Have you ever seen anyone get a score of three from a

1:40:17 > 1:40:26situation like this?Well, we would have to have a clean miss.

1:40:27 > 1:40:33have to have a clean miss. Never say never, but you just make sure, the

1:40:33 > 1:40:45same routine, clean your stone, get it right.

1:40:45 > 1:40:50Yeah, I think Fujisawa will probably walk off the ice today and probably

1:40:50 > 1:40:53apologise a little bit to her team. She hasn't been the best, she's been

1:40:53 > 1:40:56playing very well in the competition, but not today, and it's

1:40:56 > 1:41:00been as much her mistakes as anyone else. That's what the skip is

1:41:00 > 1:41:04therefore. You can make the big shots and win it for your team, but

1:41:04 > 1:41:09if you're not playing well, then the full glare of the spotlight is on

1:41:09 > 1:41:18you. Well, it hasn't been a nice performance, sadly, for her. And

1:41:18 > 1:41:23Great Britain should wrap this up here. Eve Muirhead just needs to

1:41:23 > 1:41:31take one out here and then it's all over.

1:41:44 > 1:41:48So, Eve Muirhead, ready to put the finishing touch to what's been a

1:41:48 > 1:41:52superb performance by the British women. They had to win this match

1:41:52 > 1:41:56against Japan. After a difficult start, they got it together, and

1:41:56 > 1:42:00they've played very well indeed. And there is the handshake. Great

1:42:00 > 1:42:05Britain have won three in a row now from a record of two and three after

1:42:05 > 1:42:11five matches, they now have five wins from their eight games, just

1:42:11 > 1:42:15one match left against Canada. That much could guarantee them a slot in

1:42:15 > 1:42:20the top four. Even with the five wins now, they are in a pretty good

1:42:20 > 1:42:23position but they would want to guarantee it in the match against

1:42:23 > 1:42:27Canada. Well done to Eve Muirhead and her team. Really good

1:42:27 > 1:42:31performance. All turned around in the sixth end. Great Britain win

1:42:31 > 1:42:40this one against Japan.

1:42:44 > 1:42:48Eyelid a great win for for the women and the Team GB men were on the ice

1:42:48 > 1:42:52as well this morning and they were in a similar position, knowing they

1:42:52 > 1:42:55needed to win their remaining two matches to ensure safe passage

1:42:55 > 1:43:00through to the semifinals. It was a really assured performance from Kyle

1:43:00 > 1:43:04Smith's rink against the Norwegians, they won it 10-3 and afterwards they

1:43:04 > 1:43:12spoke to Steve Cram. Adulation is, guys, another great one at, do you

1:43:12 > 1:43:14think that was your best performance?I would say so

1:43:14 > 1:43:18probably. There was a couple of slack ones but we always need to

1:43:18 > 1:43:21apply the pressure afterwards, so really pleased with that

1:43:21 > 1:43:23performance.You were out of the blocks like Usain Bolt, in the

1:43:23 > 1:43:30first?Yeah, good start, be managed to win the hammer and get a good

1:43:30 > 1:43:33three on the board straightaway. Yeah, it is great to get a head

1:43:33 > 1:43:37start like that and we managed to keep it going, which was good. And,

1:43:37 > 1:43:42of course, now, you're sitting in a very double position in terms of

1:43:42 > 1:43:45qualification, because you know it's in your hands, which is always what

1:43:45 > 1:43:49you want, one more win and you are through?Exactly. If we knew that we

1:43:49 > 1:43:54were coming into the last game of the round robin and it was in our

1:43:54 > 1:43:57hands we would be happy. We have put ourselves in a great position and we

1:43:57 > 1:44:01just need to do the job tomorrow.A really technical question - do you

1:44:01 > 1:44:06think you play better in red?It is my favourite colour, to be honest! I

1:44:06 > 1:44:11really enjoy playing in red!We were saying that you played so well

1:44:11 > 1:44:16today, maybe it would have been good to have been coming back tonight but

1:44:16 > 1:44:20I guess it is a case of gathering yourself ready for tomorrow?I think

1:44:20 > 1:44:23it is actually quite nice to have a bit of a break for the rest of the

1:44:23 > 1:44:27day because it has a bit rental and relentless, to be honest. It feels

1:44:27 > 1:44:32like we have not had a lot of time off so it will be nice to relax and

1:44:32 > 1:44:34support the girls later run and get ready for tomorrow.Well played

1:44:34 > 1:44:41today, congratulations.

1:44:54 > 1:44:57Well, good afternoon. From Pyeongchang, we are heading into the

1:44:57 > 1:45:01late afternoon here in South Korea. Plenty of action so far today. Here

1:45:01 > 1:45:09is what has happened on day 11 so far in Pyeongchang. Great Britain's

1:45:09 > 1:45:13men are making their debut here but they are looking a good bet for an

1:45:13 > 1:45:18Olympic medal after thrashing former world champions Norway 10-3 in their

1:45:18 > 1:45:24penultimate round robin match today. Canada's pre-event favourite Cassie

1:45:24 > 1:45:29Sharpe lived up to her billing by taking halfpipe told in a dominant

1:45:29 > 1:45:34performance at the Phoenix Snow Park. Britain's Rowan Cheshire

1:45:34 > 1:45:38finished a hugely creditable seventh. Ryan Donato scored twice as

1:45:38 > 1:45:45the USA beat Slovakia 5-1 to book a spot in the men's Olympic ice hockey

1:45:45 > 1:45:50quarterfinals, where they will play Czech Republic. The GB pair narrowly

1:45:50 > 1:45:55missed out on qualifying for the men's halfpipe final. The American

1:45:55 > 1:46:03trio topped the pile.

1:46:03 > 1:46:04trio topped the pile. The Pyeongchang Olympics has had its

1:46:04 > 1:46:09third failed drugs test. The Court of Arbitration for Sport has

1:46:09 > 1:46:11announced that the Slovenia men's ice hockey player has tested

1:46:11 > 1:46:16positive for a banned substance. He has accepted the violation and will

1:46:16 > 1:46:22leave the Olympics within 24 hours.

1:46:23 > 1:46:27Elise Christie on the ice this morning, spending an hour on her

1:46:27 > 1:46:33skates, the first time back at since injuring herself in the 1,500 metres

1:46:33 > 1:46:38semifinal. She said she is on her way to the Ice Arena ahead of the

1:46:38 > 1:46:461000m heat which she hopes to take her place on the start.

1:46:46 > 1:46:51We have had so many stories of sheer strength, resilience and willpower

1:46:51 > 1:46:57at these Games and we have another in the ski half pipe. Rowan Cheshire

1:46:57 > 1:47:01four years ago was training in Sochi ahead of making her Olympic debut

1:47:01 > 1:47:06when disaster struck. A heavy fall led to severe concussion. Her

1:47:06 > 1:47:11Olympic dream was over but more worryingly was her condition. She

1:47:11 > 1:47:18went home, got back on her skis but the suffered another 22 concussions

1:47:18 > 1:47:23leading to severe side effects. She has been on the road to recovery and

1:47:23 > 1:47:27is back now, fulfilling her Olympic dream. It has been a huge effort

1:47:27 > 1:47:35from her. Before these games, we went to meet her.

1:47:35 > 1:47:39I was feeling really confident about my skiing and fitness. I was going

1:47:39 > 1:47:45into it really happy. I don't remember the crash actually

1:47:45 > 1:47:51happening. I don't remember the hospital, it was only in the morning

1:47:51 > 1:47:55I have any recollection. With something like a concussion, and you

1:47:55 > 1:48:00can't remember it, it is always scary when you can't remember, so

1:48:00 > 1:48:07you can't think how you can fix it. It happening again.

1:48:07 > 1:48:12The first of three concussions, that was in Fabbri 2014, what was the

1:48:12 > 1:48:17timeline? After that one, I went away in

1:48:17 > 1:48:25October, September time. I ended up hitting my head again. And then

1:48:25 > 1:48:30again the following year in the same place. The third one was where it

1:48:30 > 1:48:34really hit me, it was very scary how I reacted, starting with the

1:48:34 > 1:48:41concussion. Did you feel yourself changing in

1:48:41 > 1:48:47the way you dealt with situations? Yes, definitely. Normal things as in

1:48:47 > 1:48:52travelling, I wouldn't travel by myself, which I am used to. I

1:48:52 > 1:48:57wouldn't leave the house. It gave me a lot of anxiety doing normal daily

1:48:57 > 1:49:01things. I would get overly emotional about situations you wouldn't

1:49:01 > 1:49:08normally. Very not with it. Just not there. A lot of people with

1:49:08 > 1:49:13concussions do go through those things. It is tough mentally to

1:49:13 > 1:49:18think, why am I feeling like this, I the only one? Having that

1:49:18 > 1:49:22reassurance you are not the only one, it gets better in time, it

1:49:22 > 1:49:29takes a while to heal itself. You are still very young. The

1:49:29 > 1:49:34experiences of the last three and a half years, has it changed your

1:49:34 > 1:49:38enjoyment of skiing? It did. It really did. I remember I

1:49:38 > 1:49:43told my dad I don't want to do it anymore and burst out crying. I was

1:49:43 > 1:49:49so sad about it. Clearly I don't want to quit if I'm going to be that

1:49:49 > 1:49:56sad. With that fear, a flip to your head, it takes away the fun. Finding

1:49:56 > 1:50:00that enjoyment and getting the adrenaline back was a big thing for

1:50:00 > 1:50:04me. It is there now, it is obvious.

1:50:04 > 1:50:10Definitely, I am enjoying it so much.

1:50:10 > 1:50:13Looking to Pyeongchang, what are your expectations?

1:50:13 > 1:50:20I really want a medal, that is one of my goals. Just see how it goes.

1:50:20 > 1:50:23But not trying to think about it too much. Hopefully it will come

1:50:23 > 1:50:28together, you never know. Not only has she had to battle

1:50:28 > 1:50:33through all that to be hit in Pyeongchang, she has also had an

1:50:33 > 1:50:38ankle injury in the build-up. She wants a medal and after the

1:50:38 > 1:50:41qualifying was safely through to the final today where anything can

1:50:41 > 1:50:46happen. Let us head to the Phoenix Snow Park and join our commentary

1:50:46 > 1:50:52team.

1:50:52 > 1:50:57Rowan Cheshire, I am pleased to say sat next to me is the man of the

1:50:57 > 1:51:06moment James Woods. How is it going?Good to have you

1:51:06 > 1:51:13here. Perfect timing. The best seat in the house.Rowan

1:51:13 > 1:51:17Cheshire, battling back from that horrendous concussion in Sochi. But

1:51:17 > 1:51:21she has made it to the Olympics and is about to drop in for the first

1:51:21 > 1:51:27time. She needs to put down a solid score

1:51:27 > 1:51:38on the board. The best attitude we have seen so far.

1:51:48 > 1:51:56That was lovely. A great first run. Definitely got the most attitude we

1:51:56 > 1:52:03have seen so far. And she has got a nine in there. She has upped the

1:52:03 > 1:52:16difficulty. 75.4. She slots in behind Demidova, the Russian. Brita

1:52:16 > 1:52:22Sigourney, wearing the number one bib for a reason, she leads the

1:52:22 > 1:52:26World Cup standings. If you are coming into this, me

1:52:26 > 1:52:40coming into this, with inside knowledge, this is really, for me,

1:52:40 > 1:52:44the battle for the win. She is going big, huge.

1:52:44 > 1:52:50She wants this, doesn't she? That had so much travel, that is

1:52:50 > 1:52:54technical difficulty in a nutshell. To rotate up the pipe and travel

1:52:54 > 1:52:59back down it. Exactly. A beautiful one. I got the

1:52:59 > 1:53:07shivers then. It is simmering, turn the gas down!

1:53:07 > 1:53:16It will catch in a minute!?I am too excited.

1:53:19 > 1:53:30Absolutely a given. Look at that. Amazing. It is a very difficult

1:53:30 > 1:53:36thing the whole judging and the points. The essence of it is to look

1:53:36 > 1:53:42at the placings. The score is just a little communication from the judges

1:53:42 > 1:53:49to the riders. 89.8, that is telling me the judges are telling her get

1:53:49 > 1:53:54those grabs and you will be well up there.

1:53:54 > 1:53:59Marie Martinod with her first grabbed, 33-year-old mother of one.

1:53:59 > 1:54:06Defying the mantra of action sports and absolutely sling it.

1:54:06 > 1:54:10They are known as youth sports but they have been coming of age in the

1:54:10 > 1:54:17last three decades. And age is just a number for Martinod. A great first

1:54:17 > 1:54:23run from the French woman. Silver medallist from Sochi. She

1:54:23 > 1:54:28skis out of her plan.

1:54:33 > 1:54:39skis out of her plan. -- out of Le Plain.

1:54:39 > 1:54:43We have said it, she skis clever, she ticks the boxers, does exactly

1:54:43 > 1:54:52what the judges want to see. Cassie Sharpe coming out of

1:54:52 > 1:54:57Vancouver Island. Her brother, silver, and X games in snowboard

1:54:57 > 1:55:10slope. The family very happy to have at least one member in there.

1:55:10 > 1:55:15You can see how clean and covered at the she comes through this pipe. She

1:55:15 > 1:55:23is taking the boxers for the judges. That was beautiful, a beautiful last

1:55:23 > 1:55:29trip. You could not have rolled a bowling

1:55:29 > 1:55:32ball more smoother than that. It just hit the transition. A

1:55:32 > 1:55:44fantastic run. Lots of switches, solid, consistent grabs.

1:55:44 > 1:55:51Amazing skiing. The last woman to drop in the first run of the women's

1:55:51 > 1:56:00skiing half pipe finals. Cassie Sharpe takes the lead with 94.4.

1:56:00 > 1:56:05Cassie Sharpe, 94.4. Chased very closely by Marie Martinod and Brita

1:56:05 > 1:56:10Sigourney.

1:56:10 > 1:56:14Sigourney. Rowan Cheshire making it into the top six after the first

1:56:14 > 1:56:18run, creeping up a couple of places from qualifying.

1:56:18 > 1:56:27Marie Martinod. Those fantastic Alpine themed pants from the 1970s,

1:56:27 > 1:56:34she looks good. A lovely style from Martinod on the

1:56:34 > 1:56:38first hit, upping the technicality with the second. You can see how

1:56:38 > 1:56:42confident she is feeling after landing that first run.

1:56:42 > 1:56:50Giving the cable cam operator a headache, the speed is there. Yes

1:56:50 > 1:56:59exclamation mark she lands the ten. The 33-year-old mother of one

1:56:59 > 1:57:07absolutely destroying it here at Phoenix Park.Wow, she has backed

1:57:07 > 1:57:09the judges into a serious corner.

1:57:13 > 1:57:21Oh, my goodness, not the improvement we thought. I thought it would be

1:57:21 > 1:57:32more. Cassie Sharpe. The judges have not given themselves any room there

1:57:32 > 1:57:36to put someone in between those two runs.

1:57:36 > 1:57:44A dangerous place to be.Cassie is learning the game right now.

1:57:44 > 1:57:50Definitely the favourite to win, in the lead already. Two more runs to

1:57:50 > 1:57:54do some business. A penultimate run and already in the

1:57:54 > 1:58:03lead.A big spin, first hit. A solid grab. Going deep into the landing.

1:58:03 > 1:58:09Turning into the flour. How relaxed was that? 360, Switch,

1:58:09 > 1:58:17down the pipe, 360. There is the truck driver, really nice. And

1:58:17 > 1:58:25finally finishing with a bang! Oh, my gaze. Now we are talking. A

1:58:25 > 1:58:33ten to finish. Everything in between was big -- oh, my day.s Cassie

1:58:33 > 1:58:43Sharpe has had her best run. Cassie just boosted herself out of

1:58:43 > 1:58:52top place, I reckon. 95.8! And improvement. And on the

1:58:52 > 1:58:57buzzer. Cassie Sharpe. She has put it out of reach of everybody else.

1:58:57 > 1:59:07There are the standings after round of the two. -- round two.

1:59:15 > 1:59:19OK, Rowan Cheshire from Great Britain drops in for her third and

1:59:19 > 1:59:24final run. Currently sat in seventh position, she has got the tools to

1:59:24 > 1:59:32improve.She will be feeling nervous after missing that second run.

1:59:32 > 1:59:39Starting nice and smooth. Oh, no. She has fallen on the left

1:59:39 > 1:59:44nine on the third hit. She had swapped out the nine for the

1:59:44 > 1:59:52alley-oop. She had scaled back. The last four riders to drop are the

1:59:52 > 1:59:58four top riders. Analisa Drew just outside the medals, can she lay down

1:59:58 > 2:00:05a score worthy of some metal? Goodness, that was a massive 900.

2:00:05 > 2:00:10She needs the run of her life to upset the apple cart and so far it

2:00:10 > 2:00:16is looking like that. A beautiful Allee Bleue.

2:00:19 > 2:00:25Allee Bleue. -- alley-oop. We need the fireworks here, wow,

2:00:25 > 2:00:30that was clean.

2:00:32 > 2:00:34that was clean. Ladies and gentlemen, that was so clean.

2:00:34 > 2:00:43Analisa Drew, regardless of score, she can be incredibly proud of three

2:00:43 > 2:00:47runs in the bag in the Olympic final, a huge attribute to the

2:00:47 > 2:00:51scheme. The judges will be staring this run down and comparing it

2:00:51 > 2:01:01exactly against Brita Sigourney. So, Analisa Drew, the American was

2:01:01 > 2:01:06on an 86.8, looking for something above 89.8.

2:01:06 > 2:01:11She has got a point clear and is in the medals for now. There are three

2:01:11 > 2:01:16riders left

2:01:21 > 2:01:24has accepted the violation and will leave the Olympics within 24 hours.

2:01:24 > 2:01:29It could be a very awkward flight home on the USA team plane playing,

2:01:29 > 2:01:33she's bumped her fellow countryman out of the medals. And now, Brita

2:01:33 > 2:01:37Sigourney has it all to do. This is where you find out what you're made

2:01:37 > 2:01:43of, when you thought you had a medal, you got that close and now,

2:01:43 > 2:01:47you've got to lay down a huge, clean run, arguably the best run of her

2:01:47 > 2:01:53life, under the most pressure. She has got be amplitude, the technical

2:01:53 > 2:01:59difficulty, she's got the confidence, she's got everything.

2:01:59 > 2:02:03Brita Sigourney is the only person in this field in my opinion who can

2:02:03 > 2:02:09actually challenge Cassie Sharpe for the top spot. And having been bumped

2:02:09 > 2:02:13down to fourth place, how she's going to deal with that is going to

2:02:13 > 2:02:16be wicked interesting.Distraction or motivation as Bass lets find out.

2:02:16 > 2:02:25Huge alley-oop! Wow! Biggest air of the day, was it?!Definitely!She

2:02:25 > 2:02:28got that alley-oop 540 grab, and that's what I like, that's the only

2:02:28 > 2:02:31reason she was down on the points before.Needs a fireworks here...

2:02:31 > 2:02:40Oh, beautiful! So clean! Wow! Big 720 to finish!That last 180, blind,

2:02:40 > 2:02:46drops the skis into the pipe.Man, I don't know where the judges go with

2:02:46 > 2:02:51this.For me, I think she is definitely in those medals now,

2:02:51 > 2:02:58there is no way about it. Absolutely. But I think it is better

2:02:58 > 2:03:00than Marie Martinod, it was definitely bigger than her run. And

2:03:00 > 2:03:05we talked about the style and the cleanliness. And the grabs on that

2:03:05 > 2:03:09as well and. That is the battle we came to see. I'm sorry everybody

2:03:09 > 2:03:13else but this is the battle we came to see, and we came to see the rail

2:03:13 > 2:03:18stars and this is it.This is what you hope for in a pipe contest. You

2:03:18 > 2:03:23don't want anybody on a victory lap. I think we're going to see something

2:03:23 > 2:03:34between 92...Oh, my goodness! Bronze!I can't tell you how much I

2:03:34 > 2:03:37respect Marie, that was an amazing run. Obviously, the judges are

2:03:37 > 2:03:42seeing things that we can't see. Some grabs, not quite holding them

2:03:42 > 2:03:47correctly, and I think that is what the judges thought, to be honest.

2:03:47 > 2:03:53Are we going to see the defending silver medallist from France, Marie

2:03:53 > 2:04:00Martinod, are we going to see her now step up her game and bumped off

2:04:00 > 2:04:04Cassie Sharpe from the gold medal position? She needs the run of her

2:04:04 > 2:04:10life here.Told fever in women's ski pipe finals. Marie Martinod is on

2:04:10 > 2:04:21the hunt, with a 540... Brightside five.The nine was so well measured.

2:04:21 > 2:04:30Really clean!Big flare, she's gone! Goodness!And you don't need to be a

2:04:30 > 2:04:37rocket surgeon to do the maths on that one.So, Marie Martinod raises

2:04:37 > 2:04:44her hands and celebrates a silver, while at the top of the pipe, Cassie

2:04:44 > 2:04:54Sharpe, high-fives for her coaches. She lets the idea of a golden

2:04:54 > 2:05:02settle...! So, back up to the top, Cassie Sharpe.

2:05:02 > 2:05:06Cassie Sharpe. Her brother missed out on the snowboard slopestyle team

2:05:06 > 2:05:09and now Cassie Sharpe comes home with a gold. What a fantastic day

2:05:09 > 2:05:17for the family, and Canada. Following up on lorry blew in's

2:05:17 > 2:05:28silver in women's slope. Oh! And she lets it go!It's almost a relief,

2:05:28 > 2:05:35that, isn't it? A bit of pressure! We talk about fighting against

2:05:35 > 2:05:39yourself, and Casilla... Oh, my goodness! She is in such a zone

2:05:39 > 2:05:45right now!Beautiful! That is going at the top of the run, I guarantee

2:05:45 > 2:05:49you before the end of the season she will be throwing back at the top of

2:05:49 > 2:05:57the run. It is so, strong. Cassie Sharpe, undoubtedly, emphatically,

2:05:57 > 2:06:01taking gold here in the women's ski halfpipe finals. A fantastic at all

2:06:01 > 2:06:06but a performance that proved to be head and shoulders above the rest.

2:06:06 > 2:06:10but a performance that proved to be head and shoulders above the rest.

2:06:10 > 2:06:13Olympic champion, huge congratulations, how does that feel?

2:06:13 > 2:06:18It's incredible, it doesn't quite feel real yet but I have put a whole

2:06:18 > 2:06:22bunch of work into getting here so it feels so good.I think it is fair

2:06:22 > 2:06:26to say that you've been passing it since Oslo X-Games - how much

2:06:26 > 2:06:31pressure were you under coming into these Olympics?I mean, I definitely

2:06:31 > 2:06:35felt the pressure, I felt the expectation, but I just tried to put

2:06:35 > 2:06:39as much time into preparing for it and getting my run ready to land and

2:06:39 > 2:06:43to beacons stint and to win it. I'm really thankful that I did all the

2:06:43 > 2:06:50work beforehand!Well, that was an incredible standard from the women

2:06:50 > 2:06:54on the halfpipe once again. I'm delighted to say Rowan Cheshire has

2:06:54 > 2:06:59joined us on the balcony. Welcome. Congratulations, you're finally an

2:06:59 > 2:07:05Olympian, it must make the last four years' hard work seem worth it now

2:07:05 > 2:07:09100%. It has been such a whirlwind and to be able to come out here and

2:07:09 > 2:07:18be able to put down a run is absolutely amazing.I'm so happy and

2:07:18 > 2:07:22to make the finals and to land a run in the finals has been amazing, I

2:07:22 > 2:07:25could not have asked for more book not only have you had all of the

2:07:25 > 2:07:28battles over the last four years, you had a pretty serious ankle

2:07:28 > 2:07:33injury not long ago as well, so you've hardly skied very much in the

2:07:33 > 2:07:37build-up to these Games? Yeah, so last season I had a really good run

2:07:37 > 2:07:42and then I injured my ankle, tour the ligaments, in June and it ended

2:07:42 > 2:07:47up being a bit more prolonged than I thought. So I actually came back in

2:07:47 > 2:07:53December and competed again. So, yeah, it was pretty close!Put that

2:07:53 > 2:07:58seventh place into context. I think you said yourself you were not

2:07:58 > 2:08:01putting huge expectation on yourself coming in, I think the hope was that

2:08:01 > 2:08:05you would get to the final, but to finish well within the top ten is a

2:08:05 > 2:08:09huge achievement?Yeah, I just wanted to land a run that I was

2:08:09 > 2:08:14happy with and the training went so well, I was just trying to enjoy the

2:08:14 > 2:08:18experience and relax and chill and take it all in, I didn't want to be

2:08:18 > 2:08:21stressed and remember this experience as a stressful one. The

2:08:21 > 2:08:26run that I put down to make the finals was just amazing. Was it

2:08:26 > 2:08:29emotional, but first run, knowing that you can now officially call

2:08:29 > 2:08:33yourself an Olympian?Yeah, definitely, I definitely could have

2:08:33 > 2:08:37cried, definitely held it back! But yeah, I was over the moon just to be

2:08:37 > 2:08:44able to compete, it was just amazing. We all see what you all do

2:08:44 > 2:08:46and the halfpipe within the freestyle skiing programme is

2:08:46 > 2:08:50incredible, but when you have a big accident like you had, how difficult

2:08:50 > 2:08:54mentally is it to get back on the skis and doing the tricks that

2:08:54 > 2:08:58essentially have caused you paint? Yeah, it is a difficult one with

2:08:58 > 2:09:02head injuries as well because obviously it affects your brain and

2:09:02 > 2:09:05your mentality and you as a person, really. Instead of just having a

2:09:05 > 2:09:11physical injury, where your mental state is kind of intact almost. But

2:09:11 > 2:09:15yeah, it's really hard because you've got the fear as well as one

2:09:15 > 2:09:19of the anxiety around it and obviously, when you're back on skis,

2:09:19 > 2:09:24your brain is just like freaking out in a sense, oh, my god, you're going

2:09:24 > 2:09:29to hurt yourself again! Don't do it! But it is just kind of practice, and

2:09:29 > 2:09:34repetition, and getting the right help that you need to.When it was

2:09:34 > 2:09:38at its worst, you did think about quitting the sport - could you have

2:09:38 > 2:09:43believed that you could have been standing here now, delighted with a

2:09:43 > 2:09:48seventh place finish in a Winter Olympics

2:09:48 > 2:09:51seventh place finish in a Winter Olympics?Yeah, not really. I was in

2:09:51 > 2:09:55a pretty bad place and I didn't know if I was going to continue the sport

2:09:55 > 2:09:58or anything like that. I never thought I'd get back up to the

2:09:58 > 2:10:02standard of today and could hit with some of the top girls in the world.

2:10:02 > 2:10:06I just didn't think it was going to be possible. But yeah, I'm so happy

2:10:06 > 2:10:11I DID continue the sport!I bet you are and we are delighted to see what

2:10:11 > 2:10:15will happen over the next few years and, as we look ahead to Beijing.

2:10:15 > 2:10:19All the best. Thank you rejoining us. If you were watching about ten

2:10:19 > 2:10:24minutes ago, you will have seen that it was a great win for GB's women

2:10:24 > 2:10:28curlers on the ice against Japan. Their destiny is now very much in

2:10:28 > 2:10:31their own hands, as to whether they will make the semifinals. Their last

2:10:31 > 2:10:35round robin match is against Canada tomorrow. But after this win, they

2:10:35 > 2:10:42spoke to Steve Cram. Well, once again, congratulations, good win. It

2:10:42 > 2:10:46looked easy in the end, but it was a difficult match early on?It was. We

2:10:46 > 2:10:50knew it was going to be a very tough game. We gave them a lot of respect

2:10:50 > 2:10:54and we played our own game and as you say we went down a couple early

2:10:54 > 2:10:58but we came back. We had a great fifth and chat without coaches, they

2:10:58 > 2:11:02must have done something well because we came back with a three in

2:11:02 > 2:11:08the sixth.Three in a row, things are looking good, Anna?They are, it

2:11:08 > 2:11:16is a cliche but we take one stone, one game at a time. So, all these

2:11:16 > 2:11:20wins are important now at this stage. I'm really pleased with our

2:11:20 > 2:11:25team performance out there. We were solid and we were a good unit, and

2:11:25 > 2:11:29we will try and do the same in the next match.Do you feel as though

2:11:29 > 2:11:40things are coming together, Vicki? Yeah, I think close games like that

2:11:40 > 2:11:44make us stay focused and get totally into the game, so if we can have

2:11:44 > 2:11:48games like that and play to that standard, then we're going in the

2:11:48 > 2:11:52right direction.I have got to hesitate here because the Canadian

2:11:52 > 2:11:57team are standing behind you, but Canada in the last much, you can

2:11:57 > 2:12:00guarantee your place in the semifinal, and you could also knock

2:12:00 > 2:12:04Canada out?Just as the girls were saying, we will prepare the same way

2:12:04 > 2:12:08for every match and give everyone maximum respect, so we're going to

2:12:08 > 2:12:12be doing the same thing for the last game, exactly the same approach.I

2:12:12 > 2:12:15understand you saying that but you would be putting out one of your

2:12:15 > 2:12:21major rivals?Of course we take every game at a time. We give all of

2:12:21 > 2:12:24the opposition all our respect and I think it is important that we go up

2:12:24 > 2:12:30a gear from now. Every game we have got slightly better. That was two

2:12:30 > 2:12:32back-to-back summer performances, so we're feeling really good going into

2:12:32 > 2:12:35tomorrow. And hopefully if we can play great again, who knows what

2:12:35 > 2:12:45will happen?Well done tonight. A great win from them. And from the

2:12:45 > 2:12:48Curling Centre, Jackie Lockhart joins us live. A thoroughly

2:12:48 > 2:12:53enjoyable game but also a hugely important one - what does it now

2:12:53 > 2:12:55meaningful the women's curlers ahead of the final round robin match

2:12:55 > 2:13:00tomorrow?I think it means everything is in our hands. The

2:13:00 > 2:13:04girls showed real professionalism and they had a couple of little

2:13:04 > 2:13:09tricky shots in the beginning where they really had to dig deep to keep

2:13:09 > 2:13:12themselves in the game, but second-half of the game they came

2:13:12 > 2:13:16out and performed really, really well. We now face Canada in our last

2:13:16 > 2:13:19game and we have a huge opportunity to get ourselves into the play-offs

2:13:19 > 2:13:23and to actually knock out the Canadians, would not actually then

2:13:23 > 2:13:27make the play-offs.It is a huge match and one which brings its

2:13:27 > 2:13:32precious, but these girls know all about pressure - how much their

2:13:32 > 2:13:34experience counts tomorrow?I think you heard the girls in their

2:13:34 > 2:13:39interview. They give everybody due respect to. Every player, every team

2:13:39 > 2:13:43out there is due the respect because they are at the top of their nation,

2:13:43 > 2:13:46to come here and play, so they will treat every game like that. And I

2:13:46 > 2:13:51think the old rivalry between Great Britain and Canada will show its

2:13:51 > 2:13:54best tomorrow, and I'm looking forward to a really good game. What

2:13:54 > 2:13:59I will say is, the Canadians are not playing well at all and they are

2:13:59 > 2:14:03really struggling at the moment, so if we can just keep our game plan as

2:14:03 > 2:14:06it has been, we're getting stronger every game we play, I think we could

2:14:06 > 2:14:11be on for a winner.Yeah, it is not the same Canadian rink that won gold

2:14:11 > 2:14:14four years ago - what do you think is going wrong with them is in they

2:14:14 > 2:14:18have been a bit indifferent so far? I have not had a chance to speak to

2:14:18 > 2:14:21them, but I'm not sure whether there are not coping with the ice or

2:14:21 > 2:14:27whether it is just the

2:14:27 > 2:14:29whether it is just the pressure has got to them because every Canadian

2:14:29 > 2:14:32team who comes out here is fully expect it to go back with an Olympic

2:14:32 > 2:14:34gold medal. And that is a huge pressure to carry on your shoulders.

2:14:34 > 2:14:39And these girls just haven't coped with it at all.Let's go to the men

2:14:39 > 2:14:42because the great British men's teams were also on the ice today, a

2:14:42 > 2:14:46huge win for them against Norway. Is that the best performance you have

2:14:46 > 2:14:51seen from Kyle Smith's rink?Yeah, and especially from Kyle himself. He

2:14:51 > 2:14:55is really beginning to show form having struggled a bit at the

2:14:55 > 2:14:58beginning of the week. I know they told him to relax and enjoy the

2:14:58 > 2:15:03atmosphere and place good shots, and that's exactly what he's doing, and

2:15:03 > 2:15:07that is the Kyle Smith that we're used to seeing. Again, the boys are

2:15:07 > 2:15:13peaking at the right time. They are inexperienced in terms of Olympic

2:15:13 > 2:15:15participation but they are incredibly experienced in terms of

2:15:15 > 2:15:19playing the game of curling - do you think it has just taken them a

2:15:19 > 2:15:22little while to embrace being part of the Olympics and believing that

2:15:22 > 2:15:28they deserve to be competing here?

2:15:29 > 2:15:34it is a strange thing to tell a competitor how big this stage is at

2:15:34 > 2:15:39the Olympic Games, and it has taken the boys a while to get into the

2:15:39 > 2:15:43match practice they need. They are finding their form. Everything is in

2:15:43 > 2:15:48their hands again. I have high hopes for another play-off stage for the

2:15:48 > 2:15:52boys. A big day tomorrow. Do you expect

2:15:52 > 2:15:56both teams to be lining up in that semifinal?

2:15:56 > 2:16:00Yes, without question. From the form I have seen, I have my fingers

2:16:00 > 2:16:05crossed and I am sure the nation has, let us hope they are in the

2:16:05 > 2:16:06play-offs. We hope so.

2:16:06 > 2:16:13Rank you. Eve Muirhead and her team will take on Canada tomorrow just

2:16:13 > 2:16:18after midnight, for the men, it is the USA, just after five o'clock

2:16:18 > 2:16:25tomorrow morning. These are pictures from the Ice

2:16:25 > 2:16:30Arena earlier today. Elise Christie on the ice. This could be good news

2:16:30 > 2:16:36ahead of her 1000m heat. She spent an hour on her skates, the first

2:16:36 > 2:16:40time since injuring herself in the 1,500 metres semi. She said on

2:16:40 > 2:16:47Instagram she is hoping to take her place. We can get a lot more from

2:16:47 > 2:16:50the Ice Arena, David spoke to Stuart bang the performance director from

2:16:50 > 2:16:56British speed skating. Thank you for joining us. Elise has

2:16:56 > 2:17:02said she will try to race, what does that mean? It doesn't mean she is

2:17:02 > 2:17:06definitely going to race. That is correct. We have worked

2:17:06 > 2:17:11really hard to get Elise into the position she is in now. What we have

2:17:11 > 2:17:17said is we will take each step as it comes. She will get on the warm up

2:17:17 > 2:17:22ice to see how the ankle is and make a decision after that.

2:17:22 > 2:17:26If you were too assessed her fitness in percentage terms for the

2:17:26 > 2:17:30layperson? A good question. We don't work in

2:17:30 > 2:17:36percentages like that. I would say she is strong, she is able to do the

2:17:36 > 2:17:41majority of the things we would be looking for in the 1000m. I would

2:17:41 > 2:17:47say she will properly take to the ice around 80-90% fitness.

2:17:47 > 2:17:54We hit it is soft tissue damage. What has happened?

2:17:54 > 2:18:03As you say, soft tissue damage. That means the muscles and ligaments

2:18:03 > 2:18:07around the bones were affected from the fall. There has been some

2:18:07 > 2:18:12swelling which the team have really managed really well. That is the big

2:18:12 > 2:18:16factor about whether she can get her foot in the boot which she showed

2:18:16 > 2:18:20she could yesterday on the ice, and today.

2:18:20 > 2:18:25Are you likely to look at her when she gets on the ice and think,

2:18:25 > 2:18:3280-90%, we will give it a go? The decision is with Elise now. We

2:18:32 > 2:18:37have done all our medical reviews at HQ. The performance team and medical

2:18:37 > 2:18:43team are happy with where she is at. It is a confidence and safety thing

2:18:43 > 2:18:48which is why she will get onto the warm up ice and we will reassess and

2:18:48 > 2:18:51make sure the ankle is a cake and take it from there.

2:18:51 > 2:18:59How late can you leave this decision? If you medically withdraw

2:18:59 > 2:19:04an athlete all the races get withdrawn -- redrawn, so it is fair

2:19:04 > 2:19:07to the other competitors so we will make that call around six o'clock

2:19:07 > 2:19:13about an hour before racing. As if an Olympics isn't challenging

2:19:13 > 2:19:20enough, if elite gets on the start line, what sort of challenge the she

2:19:20 > 2:19:24face? Obviously not 100% fit. If you were to quantify what extra

2:19:24 > 2:19:30challenge it poses? It is clearly a physical challenge

2:19:30 > 2:19:35that we are overcoming. With 1000m it is that halfway house between

2:19:35 > 2:19:43tactical racing and speed. I think we can expect at the start she will

2:19:43 > 2:19:51probably not be heard normal rapid start on this one. But she is able

2:19:51 > 2:19:58to overtakes and passing. We can expect a lease to throw all manner

2:19:58 > 2:20:05of unknowns -- we can expect her to face all manner of a nose but it is

2:20:05 > 2:20:10her physical ability. It is now Tuesday, if she gets

2:20:10 > 2:20:14through this, the progress she has made since Saturday, could she make

2:20:14 > 2:20:19even further progress if she gets through tonight to be nearly 100%

2:20:19 > 2:20:23fit on Thursday or is that unrealistic?

2:20:23 > 2:20:30It is early days. We need to deliver today, see what racing does around

2:20:30 > 2:20:34the ankle and reassess. We are confident the progress she has made

2:20:34 > 2:20:38over the last two days has been really good and that is all we can

2:20:38 > 2:20:43work with. The physical side aside, she seems

2:20:43 > 2:20:47quite chirpy on social media, is she well mentally?

2:20:47 > 2:20:53Yes, you know what she is like, her usual playful self. She has been on

2:20:53 > 2:20:59social media, wishing all the other Team GB members good luck. She was

2:20:59 > 2:21:05singing on the ice at training. She is in as best a place as she can be.

2:21:05 > 2:21:09That is good to hear and her injury is improving, we hope to see her at

2:21:09 > 2:21:17seven o'clock. This is the Gangneung Ice Arena,

2:21:17 > 2:21:22getting ready for tonight's speed skating, the 1000m heat for the

2:21:22 > 2:21:26females, and we are hoping Elise Christie will be part of that. You

2:21:26 > 2:21:32heard they will announce a final decision about one hour before the

2:21:32 > 2:21:36racing, around nine o'clock in the morning view at home. We will bring

2:21:36 > 2:21:40that news to you as soon as we get it.

2:21:40 > 2:21:45We will stay on the ice. The men's ice hockey has reached the knockout

2:21:45 > 2:21:51stages. All of Buffer preliminary play-offs matches will take place

2:21:51 > 2:21:56today. The Olympic Athletes from Russia, Canada and Sweden topped

2:21:56 > 2:21:59their groups and qualified directly. Alongside the Czech Republic as the

2:21:59 > 2:21:59best place second.

2:22:04 > 2:22:10These are the Rafa matches which will determine who will play them.

2:22:10 > 2:22:16-- the four factors. First up, the USA against Slovakia, the winner

2:22:16 > 2:22:20says is the Czech Republic. Here is the best of the action with our

2:22:28 > 2:22:33a real good read, intercepting on the break.

2:22:33 > 2:22:41A child right down the middle, going wide. A second opportunity.

2:22:41 > 2:22:47Following up! The third of the tournament the him. And the pressure

2:22:47 > 2:22:50from the Americans to start the second session has seen them take

2:22:50 > 2:22:55the lead in this game. This is an elimination game and you need to

2:22:55 > 2:23:02take your goals when you can. Bourque had the first chance,

2:23:02 > 2:23:10eventually breaks back out again. And then they were able to find

2:23:10 > 2:23:15themselves that goal and Donato the man who scored it.

2:23:15 > 2:23:19Troy Terry breaks in. And losing his stick. It could be

2:23:19 > 2:23:23game over at the end of this next five-minute period if the USA play

2:23:23 > 2:23:33it well. A quick shots, a quick goal. While.

2:23:33 > 2:23:45-- Wow. 17 seconds on the two man advantage. He waited for it. And it

2:23:45 > 2:23:53was buried. Wisniewski scores. Are they now on course for a place in

2:23:53 > 2:23:58the quarterfinals? This was the only reason James

2:23:58 > 2:24:02Wischnewski is on this hockey team right now, all he does is play on

2:24:02 > 2:24:08the power play is. For that one time shot.

2:24:11 > 2:24:17shot. A terrific shot, forcing the forwards to respect him. He is able

2:24:17 > 2:24:26to push it to the side.

2:24:26 > 2:24:30to push it to the side.USA looking for a third and they have got it.

2:24:30 > 2:24:36Terry with another great play and he picked out Mark Arcobello. What a

2:24:36 > 2:24:43time to weigh in with his first of the tournament. 26.5 minutes

2:24:43 > 2:24:48remaining in this game and the USA three goals to the good.

2:24:48 > 2:24:52Watch the work from Troy Terry there. He wins the battle behind the

2:24:52 > 2:25:00net. And his head up, he recognise Mark Arcobello jumping into the high

2:25:00 > 2:25:06slot on and off his stick in a second. What a play from Terry, no

2:25:06 > 2:25:13chance for the net liner Lako. The US clogging up the middle.

2:25:13 > 2:25:26Thinking solo in the zone. And he scores. -- sinking so low.

2:25:28 > 2:25:33The deficit is cut to two goals and the Slovakians are keeping on

2:25:33 > 2:25:43fighting. Look at that rocket from Ceresnak.

2:25:43 > 2:25:48Look at that rocket from Ceresnak. A real nice power play from Slovakia.

2:25:48 > 2:25:54Put right to the middle, good defensive work. Sanguinetti did

2:25:54 > 2:26:02well. A wonderful finish! A fourth for the USA.

2:26:02 > 2:26:06Great movement, out in front. The Americans have really played a

2:26:06 > 2:26:13perfect game. It really kept the Slovakians forwards away from

2:26:13 > 2:26:20danger. What a play there. As O'Neil drops it off to Little. And hard at

2:26:20 > 2:26:24the net. We talk about the quick puck movement of the Americans,

2:26:24 > 2:26:34their speed, letting the puck to the work. They have done that in spades.

2:26:35 > 2:26:42Another goal for the Americans. Lako beaten absolutely clean. It is the

2:26:42 > 2:26:53superstar of this American team, Donato.

2:26:53 > 2:26:57Donato. He will enjoy the adulation, he is having a superb tournament

2:26:57 > 2:27:03right now. The power of this shot.

2:27:03 > 2:27:07It is one confident player right there, coming down on his strong

2:27:07 > 2:27:14side, head up, short side rocket. Probably one that should be saved,

2:27:14 > 2:27:21it may have been the sick that came in from Ceresnak -- the stick.

2:27:21 > 2:27:29Slovakia will bring that away, potentially one last time.

2:27:30 > 2:27:30And

2:27:30 > 2:27:34And the US fully deserve this. Really impressive performance from

2:27:34 > 2:27:44the youngsters. They have been led once again by Donato and team USA

2:27:44 > 2:27:48are going to the quarterfinals of this spends, edition. They have

2:27:48 > 2:27:53worked so hard to ensure that they would be moving on. And now they

2:27:53 > 2:27:55have done it in some style.

2:27:59 > 2:28:03A convincing win for the USA playing the Czech Republic in the

2:28:03 > 2:28:05quarterfinals. We have had some disappointing news

2:28:05 > 2:28:13from the ice hockey because we have had a third failed drugs test

2:28:13 > 2:28:17confirmed. The Court of Arbitration for Sport have announced the

2:28:17 > 2:28:23Slovenian men's ice hockey player has tested positive for a banned

2:28:23 > 2:28:26substance, he has accepted the violation and will leave the lid

2:28:26 > 2:28:32picks within 24 hours. The second match of the play-offs

2:28:32 > 2:28:36involves Slovenia against Norway. The winner will play the Olympic

2:28:36 > 2:28:44athletes of Russia in the quarters. There was a goal earlier. Back with

2:28:44 > 2:28:50our commentators.

2:28:51 > 2:29:00Going across the zone and that is over the top.

2:29:00 > 2:29:06Another shop and a goal. Or is it? It is. It took time for the referee

2:29:06 > 2:29:12to recognise that. 28 seconds of the power play. And Slovenia have

2:29:12 > 2:29:17believed.

2:29:20 > 2:29:26believed.He needed three shots. The first to bring right over the net.

2:29:26 > 2:29:34You have got to love how the captain tried for a third time.

2:29:34 > 2:29:40Slovenia in charge of this game but they find themselves short-handed,

2:29:40 > 2:29:47the Slovenia is responding soap world to the news that one of their

2:29:47 > 2:29:50top players Jeglic will be leaving the Olympic Village after accepting

2:29:50 > 2:29:55a positive test. Coming download for Norway, and

2:29:55 > 2:30:02trying to clear it away. Toucher down low.

2:30:02 > 2:30:08A dropped stick causing a problem. Making this a five on three power

2:30:08 > 2:30:14play but the pass is poor, releasing the pressure. Norway on this power

2:30:14 > 2:30:23play are yet to get a telling shot on target. Saved at the blue line.

2:30:23 > 2:30:29Options either way. Now they are looking at the net,

2:30:29 > 2:30:36trying to threat it -- trying to thread it back through.

2:30:36 > 2:30:38Now in their own zone, going deeper.

2:30:49 > 2:30:56That is a nice pass, can they work something? Good defensive play.

2:31:00 > 2:31:02something? Good defensive play. Sent down the ice, and that will get rid

2:31:02 > 2:31:11of some of the pressure. Really good penalty kill for Slovenia here.

2:31:12 > 2:31:18Slovenia doing a great job taking away those lanes, some indecision

2:31:18 > 2:31:26coming into the Norway forwards' minds. Norway will look for the one

2:31:26 > 2:31:30last chance... And that doesn't hit the net. The big slap shot coming

2:31:30 > 2:31:41late on the play, and Slovenia go back to full strength again.

2:31:41 > 2:31:45back to full strength again. Nice play. And Norway will try and work

2:31:45 > 2:31:51this one to the front.

2:31:51 > 2:31:53this one to the front. Taken away from Bastiensen, and now, Norway

2:31:53 > 2:32:02will go back to centre rice.A place in the quarterfinals at stake here,

2:32:02 > 2:32:06with the Olympic Athletes from Russia. Waiting in the wings. They

2:32:06 > 2:32:19will play the winners of this game. Hoff gets it inside. That didn't go

2:32:19 > 2:32:23as far as they would have wanted, and now, with a bit of speed they

2:32:23 > 2:32:34come in hard to the offensive zone. Big, splashing hit!

2:32:34 > 2:32:41Big, splashing hit! Ticar... The referee getting right in the way.

2:32:41 > 2:32:45Seth, that was a real good example of the size of the Slovenian forward

2:32:45 > 2:32:48to and the trouble that they can cause download in the Norwegian

2:32:48 > 2:32:55zone. It was essentially a two on three. Two Slovenians and three

2:32:55 > 2:32:58Norwegians, and Slovenia was controlling the play for quite some

2:32:58 > 2:33:03time.

2:33:03 > 2:33:06time. And you can see Ken Ograjensek shaking his head, you've got to hit

2:33:06 > 2:33:11the net when you get an opportunity. You hear coaches talking about that,

2:33:11 > 2:33:14and he had a couple of chances on this power play here, fired it wide

2:33:14 > 2:33:24a few times. How big an impact will the news for the Slovenians of that

2:33:24 > 2:33:30positive test on one of their

2:33:32 > 2:33:34positive test on one of their stars in Jeglic, how much of an impact

2:33:34 > 2:33:40will it have had, because the news broke just before the start of this

2:33:40 > 2:33:44game?You cannot deny it, it will have had a big impact, and Slovenia

2:33:44 > 2:33:48has done a wonderful job to play through this adversity, but they may

2:33:48 > 2:33:52have had some sort of reports, but really the announcement did not come

2:33:52 > 2:33:56until right before this game started. And so that was suddenly a

2:33:56 > 2:34:02time for the coaching staff to make adjustments and insert a different

2:34:02 > 2:34:08flavour into the line up. It is just a sad mark on ice hockey. This is

2:34:08 > 2:34:16something which is going to be felt throughout the WL HF and throughout

2:34:16 > 2:34:23the rest of the Olympic Games. The last thing that anybody wants is

2:34:23 > 2:34:27doping violations after everything then went around with the Russians

2:34:27 > 2:34:31and now the Olympic Athlete from Russia team. So it is a black mark,

2:34:31 > 2:34:35for sure, and Slovenia is trying their best to try to wash it away as

2:34:35 > 2:34:40soon as they can.Relatively unusual, as the effort comes in on

2:34:40 > 2:34:48goal, that in a team sport, where the impacts of one person of doping

2:34:48 > 2:34:52or taking something to aid their performance... As another shot comes

2:34:52 > 2:34:56in, not held cleanly that time by the netminder. And Slovenia will

2:34:56 > 2:35:06clear this one way. We understand it was an asthma type medication. And

2:35:06 > 2:35:10it is really important for all the athletes to understand what's now

2:35:10 > 2:35:14taking and what they have to do if they are taking stuff, to clear

2:35:14 > 2:35:23themselves. And potentially the case could be that he didn't report what

2:35:23 > 2:35:29he was taking if that is the case then he only has himself to blame.

2:35:29 > 2:35:34Here comes Mursak at the other end, at a news for Slovenia... He has a

2:35:34 > 2:35:40cannon of a shot I think Mursak is a beast of a player, a superstar. At

2:35:40 > 2:35:47the other end, into the

2:35:47 > 2:35:50the other end, into the glove, and the netminder will be happy to hang

2:35:50 > 2:35:55onto that one.Just to put this into perspective, you've got a player

2:35:55 > 2:36:03coming down the ice in Jan Mursak, probably going at 25mph and this

2:36:03 > 2:36:10shot is probably coming first 285mph. And he took that right off

2:36:10 > 2:36:16the helmet, and he needs to come for a little bit of of repairs, this

2:36:16 > 2:36:22thing was coming in hot!

2:36:23 > 2:36:24thing was coming in hot! Square off the helmet, that's certainly going

2:36:24 > 2:36:30to rattle you a little bit. You can see how it does deflect off the side

2:36:30 > 2:36:39of these Kevlar helmets, which are designed to create glancing blows.

2:36:39 > 2:36:43You can see the design, it is the kind of thing that the goalies take

2:36:43 > 2:36:47rate pride in them, and all have their specific designs made for

2:36:47 > 2:36:51them. That one very much with the Norwegian flag on it. But from film

2:36:51 > 2:36:58stars to guitars to mottos, sayings, family members, it is all part of

2:36:58 > 2:37:09it.There was a goal in the National Hockey hockey league that had Norman

2:37:09 > 2:37:13Bates' mothers house on the side of his helmet! Each to their own, I

2:37:13 > 2:37:20guess! But it is all part of the personality!

2:37:22 > 2:37:25personality! There are very few ways in which you can show more of

2:37:25 > 2:37:29yourself underneath all of that equipment! Also, traditionally,

2:37:29 > 2:37:33goalies within ice hockey are a slightly different breed. To stand

2:37:33 > 2:37:40in front of 90mph shots, you must be! Slovenia looking for more...!

2:37:40 > 2:37:45That is a heavy shot that goes wide from Ticar chef another shot from

2:37:45 > 2:37:52the blue line. That's deflected wide.

2:37:52 > 2:37:55wide. Haugen plays it very casualty, and that deflects up into the

2:37:55 > 2:38:04stands.Good push here from Slovenia. It's really remarkable,

2:38:04 > 2:38:08Seth, throughout the course of this tournament so far, the amount of

2:38:08 > 2:38:10missed shots on net. That's something that will definitely

2:38:10 > 2:38:18rankle coaches. As this puck comes... If all that, that was a

2:38:18 > 2:38:22long shot from Vidmar which didn't make it through chief but there was

2:38:22 > 2:38:25a point-blank shot from about 18ft which just missed on the

2:38:25 > 2:38:37far-sighted. -- just missed on the far side.Setting this next attack

2:38:37 > 2:38:42in motion. Comfortable for Slovenia, who have been the better of these

2:38:42 > 2:38:47two sides, but they do give it up in front...! And Norway couldn't

2:38:47 > 2:38:50convert! What an opportunity that was! And immediately Slovenia will

2:38:50 > 2:38:58try and get it back at the other end, with Rodman. The Rodman

2:38:58 > 2:39:02brothers playing on the same line. Not the only siblings playing on the

2:39:02 > 2:39:11same line, or the same team, in this tournament.

2:39:11 > 2:39:18tournament. Marcel and David, two very experienced players.

2:39:18 > 2:39:21very experienced players. It has very much been a family affair in

2:39:21 > 2:39:29the Olympic tournament, both the men's and women's. On this Norwegian

2:39:29 > 2:39:33side, the Thoresen brothers, their father is the coach. Not to forget

2:39:33 > 2:39:39the Swiss, who are coached and captained by a brother and sister.

2:39:39 > 2:39:44And the Swiss team has twins and three sisters all playing, they're

2:39:44 > 2:39:47currently playing right now in one of the classification games in the

2:39:47 > 2:39:52women's tournament. And maybe two of the more important Slovenians are

2:39:52 > 2:39:58missing. At the last Winter Olympics they were coached by far the,

2:39:58 > 2:40:04captained by son. And one of the other sons was actually left out of

2:40:04 > 2:40:12the team in the final cut. As Norway have a chance... And Norway have to

2:40:12 > 2:40:16find some sustained pressure from somewhere. They've not been able to

2:40:16 > 2:40:23do that in this game.Yeah, they've had a lot of opportunities.Big

2:40:23 > 2:40:31shot, can't get through! Mursak keeps the attack going. Another good

2:40:31 > 2:40:42play by Mursak.That Mursak Urbas partnership is such a handful,

2:40:42 > 2:40:45creating turnovers and a really good scoring chance created from one

2:40:45 > 2:40:50there.

2:40:55 > 2:40:59there.Touch pass, here's a an opportunity, lovely, and it was

2:40:59 > 2:41:05tipped just wide! As they go again here!

2:41:08 > 2:41:21Really nice pass. Ticar. Norway will try and clear. But it's easy for

2:41:21 > 2:41:31Slovenia. Sabolic goes after it. Takes his man out on the boards. It

2:41:31 > 2:41:36was Sorvik. You get the feeling, Seth, that Slovenia really needs to

2:41:36 > 2:41:40capitalise on one of these opportunities. Norway's really just

2:41:40 > 2:41:46hanging around, relying on their netminder, Haugen, to makes saves.

2:41:46 > 2:41:53But Norway is still only one shot away from tying this up.

2:41:53 > 2:41:55away from tying this up.Rodman can't hold it in the zone, and the

2:41:55 > 2:41:59pass goes right the way up the middle. Really strong play, this.

2:41:59 > 2:42:06Golicic.

2:42:07 > 2:42:10Golicic. Good reach. Nearly a big turnover there. But eventually

2:42:10 > 2:42:16Norway will get this one into the offensive end, and that relieves the

2:42:16 > 2:42:24pressure momentarily. Roest goes after it and he will dig it out.

2:42:24 > 2:42:28Now, music towards the middle. There is a flying body in there, no

2:42:28 > 2:42:40penalty called. David Rodman will raise this one clear.

2:42:43 > 2:42:46Norway are all off-side here. Eventually they realise. It was

2:42:46 > 2:42:51delayed. Which is why you heard the officials just screaming and

2:42:51 > 2:43:00shouting. Good take into the zone, thrown towards the net. Now, Norway

2:43:00 > 2:43:03having a small smell of pressure shuttle it should be relieved. Hard

2:43:03 > 2:43:07pass not taken.

2:43:13 > 2:43:18And Norway can clear away again. Remember, what is at stake here is a

2:43:18 > 2:43:27quarterfinal berth. Norway, well, that would be their best ever result

2:43:27 > 2:43:29at a Winter Olympic ice hockey tournament, and they have really had

2:43:29 > 2:43:34wonderful games across the board. This, not one of the events that

2:43:34 > 2:43:44they're expect it to do especially well in.

2:43:44 > 2:43:47well in. Mursak is going to pass this one to himself. He has to skate

2:43:47 > 2:43:52180ft to collect its, though. He has been all over the ice for Slovenia,

2:43:52 > 2:44:05their best players this afternoon. -- their best player this afternoon.

2:44:06 > 2:44:13Thoresen was bumped.Seth, we've gone upwards of four minutes here

2:44:13 > 2:44:19straight without a whistle.It really has been free-flowing at

2:44:19 > 2:44:28times, this game. Twisting and turning. Olimb gets its download.

2:44:28 > 2:44:32Norway, now, everybody camped in the zone. You suspect Slovenia are

2:44:32 > 2:44:35pretty tired right now, they don't want to waste this opportunity.

2:44:35 > 2:44:41Another turnover. This is good from Norway. Cranking up the pressure, as

2:44:41 > 2:44:47it goes all the way across the crease, breaks out of the zone. And

2:44:47 > 2:44:55now, into the offensive zone, Sabolic, from his knees, does just

2:44:55 > 2:45:00enough, and it allows a fresh set of skaters to get out there.Yeah, that

2:45:00 > 2:45:04was really important from Sabolic, just to put some pressure on and try

2:45:04 > 2:45:11to get that puck deep for Slovenia, so they could get some fresh troops

2:45:11 > 2:45:16on the ice.

2:45:17 > 2:45:25Bad timing. Norway have it back. Five and a half remaining in the

2:45:25 > 2:45:28second period, it has been lightning fast.

2:45:28 > 2:45:36A good game between these two, looking for goals. But held on to

2:45:36 > 2:45:43buy Hogan. Everyone can take a rest. The fans and TV networks can finally

2:45:43 > 2:45:50stop sweating to have a break. When we analyse this game, two teams

2:45:50 > 2:45:55that we wouldn't anticipate being quarterfinal teams, what have they

2:45:55 > 2:46:00done that has allowed them to be at this point?

2:46:00 > 2:46:03Let us look at Slovenia first and what they have done especially

2:46:03 > 2:46:12tonight is used their size, we mentioned

2:46:12 > 2:46:16mentioned Mursak, a Urbas, some big sized players controlling the puck

2:46:16 > 2:46:19the many periods of time against Norway.

2:46:19 > 2:46:25From Norway, look at the net liner Lars Horgan who has been extremely

2:46:25 > 2:46:30important.

2:46:31 > 2:46:34important. As has been the theme for the tournament, and this Norway team

2:46:34 > 2:46:40scoring goals, ever so difficult. Just the Buttner in their first

2:46:40 > 2:46:50three games. They need to find a way to break through Slovenia. -- just

2:46:50 > 2:46:58the two. Should the Slovenia is not win this

2:46:58 > 2:47:04game, their next match will be against Great Britain at the World

2:47:04 > 2:47:08Championships in Budapest, the first match of that World Championships. I

2:47:08 > 2:47:13am sure the Great Britain head coach will be keeping a keen eye on this

2:47:13 > 2:47:18class the rest of the squad. It shows Great Britain now within

2:47:18 > 2:47:24touching distance of being able to play at a Winter Olympics, it has

2:47:24 > 2:47:28been a long time since we have been able to say that.

2:47:28 > 2:47:31Slovenia have put money into their programme, changed how they do

2:47:31 > 2:47:37things with their develop the system, players at the top level.

2:47:37 > 2:47:42The Great Britain, they need to stabilise, they got promoted up to

2:47:42 > 2:47:46the second tier of world ice hockey, Slovenia were relegated from the top

2:47:46 > 2:47:53tier. They are far from being the worst team in this competition.

2:47:53 > 2:47:59Great Britain will fancy their chances of getting a result.

2:47:59 > 2:48:03It is a good model for Great Britain to follow and see what this Slovenia

2:48:03 > 2:48:10team have done. No doubt about it, Pete Russell and the GB team are

2:48:10 > 2:48:14very interested in Slovenia knowing they will play them at the World

2:48:14 > 2:48:16Championships. A heavy shop from the blue line.

2:48:16 > 2:48:23Maybe the difference is that Great Britain just don't have a player

2:48:23 > 2:48:30like Mursak.

2:48:30 > 2:48:34like Mursak. An elite player who can make the difference in these Games.

2:48:34 > 2:48:40And maybe forwards, the forwards are similar.

2:48:40 > 2:48:47Ticar opening up the play again. He held him well. A snapshot, doesn't

2:48:47 > 2:48:55make it through. They will retreat. In the end, if Great Britain wants

2:48:55 > 2:49:01the sport to grow in this country, a key thing is inspiring people by

2:49:01 > 2:49:08reaching an Olympic Games. Ticar, the side of the net. And away,

2:49:08 > 2:49:13cleared.

2:49:13 > 2:49:17cleared. A touch pass, breaking in with speed, looking to make the pass

2:49:17 > 2:49:27but he couldn't get there, it was too fancy in the end from Sabu Nic.

2:49:28 > 2:49:39-- Sabolic.An opportunity lost for Slovenia.

2:49:46 > 2:49:52Horgan, the knowledge and net lined -- net minder, getting peppered with

2:49:52 > 2:49:59shots. Maybe a bit too fancy. A two on one situation. Here is the

2:49:59 > 2:50:05rebound and a flurry of shots. Ticar gets robbed with the glove. Right

2:50:05 > 2:50:13before that, the 211 where I thought maybe shooting was the better option

2:50:13 > 2:50:25-- two on one. In the end, hanging on, Kroselj. All part of this, the

2:50:25 > 2:50:30officials.

2:50:39 > 2:50:50Head to the BBC sports website to take a glance at the popular clips.

2:50:52 > 2:50:57A scramble of seven or eight players in the goal crease, he didn't want

2:50:57 > 2:51:00to blow the whistle until he was sure the puck was covered, in that

2:51:00 > 2:51:05clip. Getting a taste of Olympic ice

2:51:05 > 2:51:13hockey. Plenty either one side or the other here. If watching the

2:51:13 > 2:51:18Winter Olympics has got you feeling a bit twitchy to get onto the ice,

2:51:18 > 2:51:23head to the get inspired section of the BBC website to find out where

2:51:23 > 2:51:36your closest ice hockey stick -- Club is.

2:51:36 > 2:51:40Club is. It is a sport for all, despite the physical nature of the

2:51:40 > 2:51:43game, noncontact in the early stages. This game full of contact

2:51:43 > 2:51:51and energy. Will it be full of more goals? Right now, Slovenia are

2:51:51 > 2:51:54heading towards the quarter final phase of this condition. A trip on

2:51:54 > 2:52:03the play. Penalty called. The Met high-end -- the netminder heading

2:52:03 > 2:52:09towards the bench. Six on five. The moment Norway get control of the

2:52:09 > 2:52:14puck, the whistle will blow. Slovenia heading to the power play,

2:52:14 > 2:52:18with a one-man advantage. The only goal came on the power play from Jan

2:52:18 > 2:52:28Urbas. Thoresen, you can just see his stick

2:52:28 > 2:52:32gets caught, as if it is caught in the spokes of a tyre.

2:52:32 > 2:52:39The Slovenian forward goes down. This power play looks good so far.

2:52:39 > 2:52:43One goal from the stick of Jan Urbas, a beautiful one-time shot

2:52:43 > 2:52:52going past Lars Horgan. Jan Mursak is the quarterback of

2:52:52 > 2:52:55this power play, the puck goes through his stick first.

2:52:55 > 2:53:00He distributes it from there. It feels like he is the quarterback of

2:53:00 > 2:53:07this whole team, the key, the leader, and the one who will drive

2:53:07 > 2:53:12them forward at every possible opportunity.

2:53:12 > 2:53:15Good skating to break it into the zone.

2:53:15 > 2:53:21A quick touch pass. Ticar can hold on immediately, but will get another

2:53:21 > 2:53:30chance. -- Ticar can't.

2:53:32 > 2:53:35-- Ticar can't. Sabolic on the nearside, Ticar is in possession.

2:53:35 > 2:53:39Skating around on his own, not a lot of movement, looking for an opening.

2:53:39 > 2:53:48Coming all the way across. Sabolic getting plenty of power but no

2:53:48 > 2:53:53placement. That is the second unit for Slovenia, the first will get out

2:53:53 > 2:53:59now. What a slap past that is. It would have been in.

2:53:59 > 2:54:07Had the whistle not alone. A lie-in chase for both teams. Great

2:54:07 > 2:54:13recognition from Sabolic to turn in and fire. The Slovenian forward was

2:54:13 > 2:54:17one step ahead of the blue line, you cannot cross the blue line until

2:54:17 > 2:54:25that puck is fully across. Pretty close. Really close. The linesman

2:54:25 > 2:54:28leaned his back leg was up in the air.

2:54:28 > 2:54:35-- deemed. Slovakia -- Slovenia still have that

2:54:35 > 2:54:42one-man advantage for another 45 seconds. Attacking with a bit more

2:54:42 > 2:54:48energy. Kuralt dumps that one off. Space to work it in. The shot is

2:54:48 > 2:54:50heavy.

2:54:56 > 2:55:03Thoresen sending that one down the ice, good penalty killing from the

2:55:03 > 2:55:06Norwegians so far. The two chances Slovenia has had,

2:55:06 > 2:55:11both missing the net. A real momentum killer when you are on the

2:55:11 > 2:55:16power play, even if it doesn't go in, if you can get that shot on

2:55:16 > 2:55:20target, there will be a rebound and an opportunity for the team on the

2:55:20 > 2:55:28power play to jump on that rebound, but if you miss the net, then all

2:55:28 > 2:55:32bets are off from there. Slovenia headboard again. Trying to

2:55:32 > 2:55:39move this to the middle. Norway with time ticking down. Close to an

2:55:39 > 2:55:46offside. If this leads to a goal you wonder if it would be reviewed by

2:55:46 > 2:55:54the coaches. 5.4 seconds to go. That will be held. At the side of the

2:55:54 > 2:55:58net, another break in play. Big breaking news before the game, one

2:55:58 > 2:56:06of the Slovenian players, Tsegay Jeglic has accepted a ruling that he

2:56:06 > 2:56:14gave a positive test and he now has 24 hours to leave the athletes

2:56:14 > 2:56:18village. It was for medication usually used in the treatment of

2:56:18 > 2:56:24asthma. But this news breaking right before the start of this game.

2:56:24 > 2:56:28Jeglic one of the star players of this Slovenian team. His team-mates

2:56:28 > 2:56:32haven't let him down at this stage, haven't let the disappointment and

2:56:32 > 2:56:36the shock of one of their players being told he had to leave the

2:56:36 > 2:56:47Olympic Village yet to them. The response from Slovenia has been

2:56:47 > 2:56:50impressive.Talk about dealing through adversity. One of the big

2:56:50 > 2:56:55players.

2:56:56 > 2:57:00players. He has said it is used for asthma situations. There are banned

2:57:00 > 2:57:04substances you are allowed to take as long as you report it, medication

2:57:04 > 2:57:08is whether you are sick or have asthma, and your team officials have

2:57:08 > 2:57:13to report it to doping control. So there is no excuse when you are

2:57:13 > 2:57:17taking a substance that is on the banned list and thinking you are

2:57:17 > 2:57:21doing it harmlessly, with asthma, whatever the case, you had to report

2:57:21 > 2:57:28it. You hear that excuse, I forgot, that is not acceptable.

2:57:28 > 2:57:33Thirsty work the sum, hot work. They are ringing their bells, wearing the

2:57:33 > 2:57:36costumes. The Slovenians are 20 minutes away from a place in the

2:57:36 > 2:57:41last eight 1/4-final meeting with the Olympic Athletes from Russia who

2:57:41 > 2:57:46so far have been the stars of this men's ice hockey tournament. After

2:57:46 > 2:57:5340 minutes here, Jan Urbas has made the difference, 1-0.

2:57:53 > 2:57:59EILIDH BARBOUR: If you want to watch the third period of this ice hockey,

2:57:59 > 2:58:04head over to the Red Button. The Olympic athletes of Russia light in

2:58:04 > 2:58:05wait for the winner

2:58:09 > 2:58:14next door to the Hockey Centre is the Ice Arena and there is great

2:58:14 > 2:58:19interest from a British perspective. We have some pictures coming in and

2:58:19 > 2:58:24it shows Elise Christie suited and booted and out on the ice which

2:58:24 > 2:58:29looks to be a positive sign ahead of the 1000 metres heats. Her favourite

2:58:29 > 2:58:34distance and her last chance in Pyeongchang to try to break what

2:58:34 > 2:58:45looks to be a Winter Olympics bad luck. We are expecting an

2:58:45 > 2:58:49announcement an hour before racing. Here she is speaking if you hours

2:58:49 > 2:58:55ago on her Instagram page. -- a few hours. Everyone, I'm just

2:58:55 > 2:59:00about to go to the ice rink. I skated this morning for the first

2:59:00 > 2:59:07time and it went quite well. To see if I can get out there to race

2:59:07 > 2:59:12today. I want to thank everyone who has helped me up to this point.

2:59:12 > 2:59:17We will let you know as soon as we hear from the Gangneung Ice Arena

2:59:17 > 2:59:22now it's Elise Christie will line up on the start line for that 1000

2:59:22 > 2:59:26metres heats which starts around about 10am back at your time.

2:59:26 > 2:59:32We have also heard from Rowan Cheshire who finished a very

2:59:32 > 2:59:38creditable seventh place in the women's ski half pipe today. And

2:59:38 > 2:59:42today, the turn of the men, qualified took place at the Phoenix

2:59:42 > 2:59:46Snow Park earlier. Three Brits in action, look out for Murray Buchan

2:59:46 > 2:59:51who has been doing some commentating for us. Peter Speight, another Brit

2:59:51 > 2:59:57to look out for. The best run counts ahead of the final tomorrow, the top

2:59:57 > 3:00:0612 going into the final. Let's join our commentators.

3:00:09 > 3:00:17Battling with injuries over the past few years, in and out of hospital.

3:00:17 > 3:00:23He was really ill in 2015. He nearly died.

3:00:23 > 3:00:28But he has come back from it. He has a movie out on the Internet. It is

3:00:28 > 3:00:38incredible, his story.Incredible. The double 12 at the top. He manages

3:00:38 > 3:00:49to keep his legs turned. That is a thing of beauty.

3:00:52 > 3:00:56And tucked that one right into the back pop pocket of the pipe,

3:00:56 > 3:00:57And tucked that one right into the back pop pocket of the pipe, he

3:00:57 > 3:01:03squeezed it in!Yeah, it was absolutely... And that is a huge

3:01:03 > 3:01:11thing for the judges, he's used to the entirety of the pipe.89.6. So,

3:01:11 > 3:01:23it is the lead for Torin Yater-Wallace. Alex Ferreira, the

3:01:23 > 3:01:30man who kept us out of the US Pipe team.Yeah, the youngster out of

3:01:30 > 3:01:35Aspen, Colorado, where they have that formidable super pipe from

3:01:35 > 3:01:39Snowmass. Learned his trade up there, learned from the very best.

3:01:39 > 3:01:43Silver in the X-Games just a few weeks ago. Oh, it's astronomical for

3:01:43 > 3:01:54the first one! So big into the seven! Into the switch. Cork seven.

3:01:54 > 3:01:59Chucking the 1260 to the moon! He had his legs turned on there! What a

3:01:59 > 3:02:04run!We mentioned consistency with a lot of these guys, but Alex Ferreira

3:02:04 > 3:02:11has come... Well, still so young but he came out of nowhere, almost in

3:02:11 > 3:02:15the shadow of Torin Yater-Wallace coming out of Aspen. Torin

3:02:15 > 3:02:17Yater-Wallace came first and Alex Ferreira was this kid snapping at

3:02:17 > 3:02:22his heels, and all of a sudden he is a staple in every single one of

3:02:22 > 3:02:27these competitions!

3:02:27 > 3:02:40these competitions! 92.6! So, the kid who sat in...Can I also say...?

3:02:40 > 3:02:43He has sat in the shadow of Torin Yater-Wallace for so long and he has

3:02:43 > 3:02:47stepped out of it in the Olympics are. And that was one of the most

3:02:47 > 3:02:52pressurised competitions in a while. And before we came on air I asked

3:02:52 > 3:02:55James Wood who he thought was going to take the win, and he said Alex

3:02:55 > 3:03:05Ferreira.Back at the top and Easter is ready.Come on, Pete. You learnt

3:03:05 > 3:03:11on the dry slope home plight of your hometown, Sheffield. He's got the

3:03:11 > 3:03:16nine in the bag.

3:03:17 > 3:03:20nine in the bag. Back-to-back nights. And a little bit flat but he

3:03:20 > 3:03:26has kept the momentum into that flyer. He will be feeling good, he's

3:03:26 > 3:03:30into his rhythm now.And his building good speed.Alley-oop,

3:03:30 > 3:03:36poking it out.

3:03:37 > 3:03:42poking it out.Put a run down. And we have said it time and time again,

3:03:42 > 3:03:47all you want to do is just come and put your run down. It doesn't really

3:03:47 > 3:03:55matter what happens, it's such a big build-up to get to these Games.The

3:03:55 > 3:03:59720 here, and he misses the mute as bus that will cost him with the

3:03:59 > 3:04:04judges. 64.6 at the moment. That's good enough for 11th place at the

3:04:04 > 3:04:14moment. As all eyes go back to the top four Aaron Blunck. This is some

3:04:14 > 3:04:19pressure right now, second run, halfway through the pack, he has got

3:04:19 > 3:04:25to land his next run. The man from Colorado with it all to do.

3:04:25 > 3:04:31Beautiful 720 starting it off. There the massive, completely blind Switch

3:04:31 > 3:04:3999. How he does that I do not know! Not as big as he normally goes.

3:04:39 > 3:04:44Bring it round, Aaron Blunck! Thank goodness!It wouldn't be a final

3:04:44 > 3:04:49without Aaron Blunck, would it?No, it would not. We can all breathe

3:04:49 > 3:04:53again now! Because we want to see the best guys in the final, we want

3:04:53 > 3:04:58to see these big tricks that we know these guys can do in the final. This

3:04:58 > 3:05:03guy has amazing back-to-back doubles, we haven't seen it there.

3:05:03 > 3:05:06For me, Aaron Blunck has come out and really, really turned it on.

3:05:06 > 3:05:1594.4 zero! He goes from 12th to first! Back up to the top of the

3:05:15 > 3:05:20pipe for the final skier to drop in, it is Great Britain's Murray Buchan.

3:05:20 > 3:05:2866 on the first run, he's currently sat in 14th place. Well within his

3:05:28 > 3:05:35grasp is a finals berth. In 12 place at the moment is Andreas Gohl on

3:05:35 > 3:05:4168.6. If Murray can tidy up that first run that he did just a little

3:05:41 > 3:05:45bit then he will make the top 12. Come on, Murray Buchan! Come on,

3:05:45 > 3:05:53Murray!The rest of his first run was absolutely beautiful. Nice left

3:05:53 > 3:05:58side 900 to start things off. Right side 540, doing big and holding it

3:05:58 > 3:06:09strong where we saw Brendan coming unstuck. Tail grab, very clean, very

3:06:09 > 3:06:15within Murray's ability. 720, into his second... Double flowers! It was

3:06:15 > 3:06:22better than run one!It was way to know! It absolutely was!It was

3:06:22 > 3:06:29better than run one. There is Izzy Atkin! Was it that than Andreas's

3:06:29 > 3:06:37run?Like you said, he's got to improve by 2.7 to make the finals

3:06:37 > 3:06:47here. Oh! Life can be so cruel! Come on, Murray! Oh!They've punished him

3:06:47 > 3:06:53for those missed wraps just on that double. That is such a shame for

3:06:53 > 3:06:58Murray, but two out of two killer, killer pipe runs, and to the top of

3:06:58 > 3:07:05his ability. Murray Buchan walks away with 14th in the Olympic Winter

3:07:05 > 3:07:10Games.Confirmation of the results here. The Americans in the top three

3:07:10 > 3:07:15spots, then two Kiwis. The wellspring is and so unlucky for

3:07:15 > 3:07:22Great Britain's Murray Buchan in 14th place. Mars up we probably

3:07:22 > 3:07:26don't have to remind you, you came this close, talk us through it true

3:07:26 > 3:07:31to be honest I thought I skied quite good, I was happy with my run.I

3:07:31 > 3:07:34thought my score was maybe slightly low but it could have gone either

3:07:34 > 3:07:38way. Under my second run I thought was a lot better, I thought my

3:07:38 > 3:07:42landings were cleaner and some of my grabs were better. On my right

3:07:42 > 3:07:45double my grabber wasn't great, and just quite disappointed that I came

3:07:45 > 3:07:51so close and didn't make the cut. Disappointment for Murray Buchan in

3:07:51 > 3:07:56particular. There won't be any Brits in that pipe final, which to explain

3:07:56 > 3:07:59some Thursday. I think I said tomorrow - it will be Thursday at

3:07:59 > 3:08:06around half past two in the morning. If that is not high octane enough

3:08:06 > 3:08:08for you, how

3:08:08 > 3:08:09If that is not high octane enough for you, how about a bit of this?

3:08:09 > 3:08:12Late last night here in South Korea, yesterday around lunchtime for you

3:08:12 > 3:08:18at home, it was the men's team ski jumping. It comes off the high hill,

3:08:18 > 3:08:26which is terrifyingly high. And it consists of four man team is, each

3:08:26 > 3:08:30jumper goes once, the scores are added together to get the team's

3:08:30 > 3:08:34total score. Germany are the current Olympic champions heading into this

3:08:34 > 3:08:37one but they have had their injury problems so there will be plenty

3:08:37 > 3:08:41thinking they can topple them from the podium. Ollie Williams will talk

3:08:41 > 3:08:50you through it.

3:08:50 > 3:08:55Ski jumping is known for its individuals but this is a team

3:08:55 > 3:08:58event. Germany are the reigning Olympic champions and their flight

3:08:58 > 3:09:04crew is much-changed from Sochi. Poland have Kamil Stoch on board

3:09:04 > 3:09:08Huddlestone entry they have never won 18 ski jumping medal. And then,

3:09:08 > 3:09:12of course, Norway with Squadron leader Robert Johansen, he of the

3:09:12 > 3:09:19rings moustache and bronze medals. The Japanese man has plenty of air

3:09:19 > 3:09:22miles, this his eighth Olympic campaign and this was the last

3:09:22 > 3:09:26chance to see him in action in Pyeongchang. He could not finish on

3:09:26 > 3:09:31a high as Japan ended up in sixth. We thought that Austria would

3:09:31 > 3:09:36compete but they have been a fading force of late. By the third jump of

3:09:36 > 3:09:39the second round they were faster losing touch.I think he wanted more

3:09:39 > 3:09:45from that jump.So we knew who would be on the podium, we just weren't

3:09:45 > 3:09:50quite sure of the order. Norway had led all along and Poland had just

3:09:50 > 3:09:56edged into second from Germany. First up was the individual large

3:09:56 > 3:10:00hill silver medallist, from Germany. Ollie Williams takes up the story.

3:10:00 > 3:10:12It is down to these, for Germany, Andreas Wellinger. He has an Olympic

3:10:12 > 3:10:18gold and an Olympic silver already, he's going to get another medal -

3:10:18 > 3:10:22what colour is it going to be... It is quite long, he looks like he

3:10:22 > 3:10:31wanted a bit more. It opens the door a fraction for Poland. Here is

3:10:31 > 3:10:40Germany's final score. And we will see whether the man who won gold on

3:10:40 > 3:10:47Saturday can pull Poland above that. Kamil Stoch, three times and Olympic

3:10:47 > 3:10:53champion. He won gold on Saturday, they smuggled crates of beer into

3:10:53 > 3:10:58the Olympic village after which. Poland were just happy to be

3:10:58 > 3:11:05celebrating - will they celebrate again?! 134.5! It matches Andreas

3:11:05 > 3:11:13Wellinger! We will go to the judges! Look at those faces on the screen!

3:11:13 > 3:11:18They're going to see it when you see it. They are second! They will take

3:11:18 > 3:11:23at least the bronze medal! But Germany stay ahead of them! Will it

3:11:23 > 3:11:31be silver or gold? Robert Johansson of Norway has about a 20 point

3:11:31 > 3:11:35cushion to play with! And for him and for Norway, old is just some

3:11:35 > 3:11:38whiskers away!

3:11:41 > 3:11:47Here he goes, for gold.

3:11:54 > 3:12:02It's long, it's clean, it's surely enough for gold for Norway! Gold for

3:12:02 > 3:12:07Robert Johansson, gold for the team! They're on top of him already! He

3:12:07 > 3:12:13has been imperious all Olympics long! Two bronze medals, now,

3:12:13 > 3:12:16they're going to be champions of the team event for the first time in

3:12:16 > 3:12:22their history, which is map, it's crazy! The Norwegians invented this,

3:12:22 > 3:12:26they've won 30 medals at the Olympics, they've never won the team

3:12:26 > 3:12:33event! And the man who has captured so much attention around the world

3:12:33 > 3:12:42IS the man who gets to glide home to gold!

3:12:42 > 3:12:49gold! There will be no close shave in this Olympic team final! Robert

3:12:49 > 3:12:53Johansson delivers a gold for Norway! They will stand on top of

3:12:53 > 3:13:00that team podium step for the first time! Those

3:13:00 > 3:13:03time! Those whiskers are golden, and Norway are your team ski jump

3:13:03 > 3:13:09Olympic champions!

3:13:09 > 3:13:13So, Norway out in front by a long way. Germany snuck silver position

3:13:13 > 3:13:18ahead of Poland.

3:13:18 > 3:13:23So, it is Norway who take gold, and I have to say one of my favourite

3:13:23 > 3:13:27stats from the Pyeongchang venues comes from the ski jumping is in the

3:13:27 > 3:13:35landing area is actually a football pitch, one of five stadiums used by

3:13:35 > 3:13:40the local team, Gangwon SEL EU can thank me if ever comes up in a pub?

3:13:40 > 3:13:45Elise Christie has been out on the ice at the ice centre, no

3:13:45 > 3:13:48confirmation yet whether she will line up for the 1000m tonight or

3:13:48 > 3:13:53not. It is her favourite event and it is later run this morning, just

3:13:53 > 3:13:56after ten a and your time. Clare Balding will give you all the latest

3:13:56 > 3:14:03take you three through it. From me, though, goodbye for now.
