0:00:47 > 0:00:56till last.Gloria

0:00:57 > 0:01:04till last.Gloria -- Gloria Stanwood from Marcel Hirscher love.

0:01:05 > 0:01:12What a finish that was! Welcome to another huge day of

0:01:12 > 0:01:16winter sport here, and it's another lovely, sunny day in Pyeongchang,

0:01:16 > 0:01:19but don't be fooled, the hat is staying on because it still chilly

0:01:19 > 0:01:23out here. But we have plenty to keep us warm, because it doesn't slow

0:01:23 > 0:01:28down at the Winter Olympics and one man's as certainly not been slowing

0:01:28 > 0:01:34down, Dom Parsons. He has one Team GB's first medal of these Olympic

0:01:34 > 0:01:39Games, with bronze in the skeleton. Incredible stuff. Huge celebrations

0:01:39 > 0:01:45as a lubricious here also the South Korea's Yun Sung-bin, who won gold

0:01:45 > 0:01:50in that event. We will hopefully have Dom and fellow GB skeleton

0:01:50 > 0:01:55athlete Jerry Rice on the balcony later. Here is what else is coming

0:01:55 > 0:02:02up on day seven here in Pyeongchang.

0:02:02 > 0:02:06Andrew Musgrave, fresh from a British best seventh in the

0:02:06 > 0:02:11skiathlon, goes in the lung bursting 15km free, his favoured event. You

0:02:11 > 0:02:14know the result, but we will show you how it unfolded as Dom Parsons

0:02:14 > 0:02:20took a historic bronze medal in the men's skeleton. We were had up to

0:02:20 > 0:02:23the Phoenix Snow Park for the chaos that is snowboard cross. Today, it's

0:02:23 > 0:02:29the women. And we will be back on the eyes to see if the Olympic

0:02:29 > 0:02:32athletes from Russia could bounce back when they face Slovenia in

0:02:32 > 0:02:38group B.

0:02:38 > 0:02:48group B. We will shortly be going to the cross-country skiing.

0:03:05 > 0:03:09Andrew Musgrave learned his trade in the village of Huntly just outside

0:03:09 > 0:03:15Aberdeen. He now comes to his third Olympic Games, with his sights set

0:03:15 > 0:03:19on a medal. He has already made history here in Pyeongchang, his

0:03:19 > 0:03:24seventh place finish in the skiathlon was the best finish by a

0:03:24 > 0:03:29British cross-country skier ever. He was at one point second in the race,

0:03:29 > 0:03:35but he just couldn't quite hang on. Kruger had an incredible race. He

0:03:35 > 0:03:40had fallen at the first and had to come from all the way back to claim

0:03:40 > 0:03:48gold. Now it's to the 15km, Musgrave's favourite event in

0:03:48 > 0:03:54Pyeongchang. The races start with 32nd intervals, with the fastest

0:03:54 > 0:03:57winning gold. Let's head to the Alpensia Cross-Country Centre and

0:03:57 > 0:04:01your commentator, Rob Walker, for what could be another thrilling race

0:04:01 > 0:04:07here in Pyeongchang.

0:04:07 > 0:04:09Good afternoon from Pyeongchang, good morning if you are already up

0:04:09 > 0:04:15and about back home as we watch Sergio Rigoni head out onto the

0:04:15 > 0:04:19course. This day seven of the Alpensia Cross-Country Centre. It's

0:04:19 > 0:04:24the men's 15 free, a race in which Andrew Musgrave has a genuine chance

0:04:24 > 0:04:27of securing a moment of sporting history for himself and Great

0:04:27 > 0:04:30Britain. He smashed the previous best British performers, his own

0:04:30 > 0:04:36from Sochi when he finished seventh in that skiathlon. This is his best

0:04:36 > 0:04:41opportunity to fulfil a lifelong dream. He will be the 56th starter.

0:04:41 > 0:04:45This is a dream that saw him move his entire life to Norway to live,

0:04:45 > 0:04:49train, eat and study with the best. He has not only earned the respect

0:04:49 > 0:04:54of the Norwegians, but he has shown it's possible for a British

0:04:54 > 0:05:00cross-country skier to be regarded as world class. This is the son of

0:05:00 > 0:05:09the legendary and is Veerpalu, who got medals from 1992 to 2010. We

0:05:09 > 0:05:13will focus on the starters in a while. Andrew Musgrave knows this

0:05:13 > 0:05:18will be tough today. He has to have the right race in the right

0:05:18 > 0:05:26conditions, and he will need to control his nerves. Joining me in

0:05:26 > 0:05:29the commentary box, we have been sitting here for over an hour,

0:05:29 > 0:05:34desperate for this race to start. It is Ollie Williams. Ollie, we have a

0:05:34 > 0:05:38massive contingent of high-class Norwegians here, but Andrew Musgrave

0:05:38 > 0:05:47has a genuine chance. When he starts at around 3.28, he needs the race of

0:05:47 > 0:05:53his life.He does. Competitors are going off every 30 seconds. It is a

0:05:53 > 0:05:57time trial. It doesn't matter where you are in relation to anyone else

0:05:57 > 0:06:02on the course, it's your time when you finish. Musgrave is halfway

0:06:02 > 0:06:08through the 15 or so seeds that have been staggered every minute. By

0:06:08 > 0:06:13about 320 local time, 6.24 U, we will be seeing them. You need to

0:06:13 > 0:06:16focus on the spit times as we go through and your finish on time at

0:06:16 > 0:06:21the end. We need to see Andrew Musgrave pretty far out in front of

0:06:21 > 0:06:25anyone who came before him by the time he crosses that finishing line

0:06:25 > 0:06:31for him to have any chance, because he will have six or seven more top

0:06:31 > 0:06:34skiers coming after him who are going to have a chance. So he needs

0:06:34 > 0:06:37to be leading when he comes through to have any chance of finishing with

0:06:37 > 0:06:46a medal. There are a lot of people who could win here. Dario Cologna is

0:06:46 > 0:06:50the example from Sochi, going for the chance to be the first man to

0:06:50 > 0:06:53win a single cross-country event three times in a row in an Olympics.

0:06:53 > 0:07:00But everyone looks like they might have a weakness.

0:07:03 > 0:07:07have a weakness. Maybe Cologna has skied a little too much this season.

0:07:07 > 0:07:12It is possible.

0:07:12 > 0:07:18It is possible. The seeds start at numbers 42 to 70. We have a big

0:07:18 > 0:07:21seagoing every minute. Andrew Musgrave will be 56 on the course

0:07:21 > 0:07:27and then Cologna is second in the welcome standing sofa. He will be

0:07:27 > 0:07:31the second last of the big seeds. No disrespect to any of the men who

0:07:31 > 0:07:34start after the seeds combo but the competition is laid out in such a

0:07:34 > 0:07:39way that once the last of the big seeds comes home, and that is the

0:07:39 > 0:07:43Frenchman, bidding to become the first French winter Olympic

0:07:43 > 0:07:46cross-country skiing champion, once he finishes, we will know the

0:07:46 > 0:07:53line-up of the top ten. We have six guys in this field, all six of whom

0:07:53 > 0:07:57beat Andrew Musgrave in the skiathlon competing here, but he has

0:07:57 > 0:08:05got a chance. Baldauf moves into the lead, but we would expect that in

0:08:05 > 0:08:10these early stages. None of the big men are close to starting yet. This

0:08:10 > 0:08:14is his best event. Seventh in the skiathlon was a phenomenal

0:08:14 > 0:08:19performance, upgrading the previous best British, which was 29th, which

0:08:19 > 0:08:23was Andrew's performance in Sochi, with which he was disappointed. He

0:08:23 > 0:08:28has been on the podium on the World Cup circuit this year. But he still

0:08:28 > 0:08:34needs everything to go his way. He mentioned yesterday on Twitter that

0:08:34 > 0:08:39he was nervous. And it is good that he is mentioning that. Andrew

0:08:39 > 0:08:43Musgrave is perennially not satisfied. He came off the skiathlon

0:08:43 > 0:08:49with the greatest cross-country result by a Briton ever. And he

0:08:49 > 0:08:53immediately complained about the fact that he had not won. He did

0:08:53 > 0:08:57that to family as well as media. He said he was frustrated that he

0:08:57 > 0:09:02didn't get it right. His coach 's Hans Christian start time, who

0:09:02 > 0:09:10coached previously Kruger, who won the skiathlon previously. So he

0:09:10 > 0:09:15knows his stuff. He says Andrew Musgrave has everything he needs to

0:09:15 > 0:09:20win this. The fascinating thing for me is that in Sochi 2014, Andrew

0:09:20 > 0:09:23Musgrave said, I bought into the hype too much when I wasn't that

0:09:23 > 0:09:28good. It almost feels the other way round now. Andrew Musgrave is almost

0:09:28 > 0:09:33generating the hype and saying, I know I can win. And we almost the

0:09:33 > 0:09:38ones who have to pull back and on, you still have nine or ten people in

0:09:38 > 0:09:45this race who theoretically should be ahead. But the tools are in the

0:09:45 > 0:09:49tool box for this man to do it.If you are hearing the name Andrew

0:09:49 > 0:09:55Musgrave for the

0:09:55 > 0:09:58Musgrave for the first time, this Swiss skier was 15th earlier in the

0:09:58 > 0:10:07season. Andrew Musgrave then came within a second of the bronze medal.

0:10:07 > 0:10:11The difference is that this time, in contrast to Sochi, here overtrained

0:10:11 > 0:10:17for Sochi and arrived with people expecting great things, but his legs

0:10:17 > 0:10:24were shattered. That is a massive lesson to learn and in these, his

0:10:24 > 0:10:32third games, he has displayed real maturity. That is one of the French.

0:10:32 > 0:10:44Here is yet another of the Finns. 41st in the skiathlon. The big seeds

0:10:44 > 0:10:50start coming out on big 42. We have one man coming out every 30 seconds.

0:10:50 > 0:10:56The seeds go out at one-minute intervals.Let me take you through a

0:10:56 > 0:11:03few of the seeds we are going to see. You have to watch Dario

0:11:03 > 0:11:07Cologna, the winner from Vancouver and Sochi. The reason I said I am

0:11:07 > 0:11:12not sure if he has over skied is that he has never won a major medal

0:11:12 > 0:11:16in the same season that he has won detoured to ski, which is like a

0:11:16 > 0:11:21mini Tour de France for skiing. He won that season for the fourth time,

0:11:21 > 0:11:25which shows how good he is, but there are concerns in his native

0:11:25 > 0:11:29Switzerland that every time he does that, he doesn't have enough in the

0:11:29 > 0:11:36tank for a major event. This Frenchman is another one I would

0:11:36 > 0:11:43pick out, he will be the last of the seeds to go, just after 6:30am, your

0:11:43 > 0:11:47time. He would be France's first Olympic cross-country champion in

0:11:47 > 0:11:54history if he does it and then look at the Norwegians. We are going to

0:11:54 > 0:12:01see a couple coming up who will be the leading Norwegians. They were

0:12:01 > 0:12:05already on the podium in the skiathlon. Kruger will be back for

0:12:05 > 0:12:09another shot at gold. And the man who won the sprint gets a rest today

0:12:09 > 0:12:12because Norwegian skiing is that strong that he will be back later in

0:12:12 > 0:12:21the games. Then we get to Andrew Musgrave. The exciting thing for us

0:12:21 > 0:12:27is that he genuinely is among the contenders. In 15 minutes' time, we

0:12:27 > 0:12:30will see him out on course. And Andrew Young will be right after him

0:12:30 > 0:12:38at the same time.We have Andrew Young and Callum Smith. All three

0:12:38 > 0:12:44Britons will be out on the course. Callum Smith is out at around 3.45,

0:12:44 > 0:12:51our time. By sheer coincidence, they have space to seeds out and it is

0:12:51 > 0:12:55just a sheer fluke that Andrew Young is the next athlete out on the

0:12:55 > 0:13:00course after his friend Andrew Musgrave. They have all come through

0:13:00 > 0:13:04that Huntley breeding ground and I hope there will be one or two boys

0:13:04 > 0:13:10and girls, I know half term is

0:13:10 > 0:13:13and girls, I know half term is go home, so I hope there will be a few

0:13:13 > 0:13:17who are inspired to have a crack at Huntly. All the guys in

0:13:17 > 0:13:22Aberdeenshire have done us fantastic job with that facility and three of

0:13:22 > 0:13:24their graduates are in Winter Olympics action over the next hour

0:13:24 > 0:13:30and a half. It is getting blustery. I was about to say, the wind has

0:13:30 > 0:13:37been a feature in all of the races we have seen. We saw a biathlon race

0:13:37 > 0:13:43postponed earlier because it was so windy. Everybody starting right now

0:13:43 > 0:13:47looks cold. I would not be holding that phone in their hands for too

0:13:47 > 0:13:51long. It is going to be a cold race. It is a few degrees below zero, but

0:13:51 > 0:13:56with the wind at about ten miles an hour, it is feeling more like minus

0:13:56 > 0:14:03ten. So you want to keep warm and jump up a little on the start line

0:14:03 > 0:14:08before you get out there. And that is going to have an effect. It is

0:14:08 > 0:14:12not the same as a mass start, where you are looking to get a breakaway,

0:14:12 > 0:14:15but now you have to manage those conditions on your own

0:14:15 > 0:14:16but now you have to manage those conditions on your own. It is a

0:14:16 > 0:14:22different mental approach.I think the time trial format suits and the

0:14:22 > 0:14:27Musgrave. That is Toni Livers, one of the other Swiss athletes,

0:14:27 > 0:14:31although not the favoured Swiss, which is Dario Cologna. The question

0:14:31 > 0:14:39is whether he is tired from the Tour De Ski. But the element of time

0:14:39 > 0:14:47trial that works for Andrew Musgrave, Roy Young, Andrew

0:14:47 > 0:14:49Musgrave, Roy Young, Andrew Young's dad, says, and he has worked with

0:14:49 > 0:14:58Andrew Musgrave, he says about the Briton, his greatest strength is his

0:14:58 > 0:15:04ability to push himself harder than anybody else you know. That tells

0:15:04 > 0:15:10you that these kind of racist suit Andrew Musgrave. You get some --

0:15:10 > 0:15:15these kind of racist suit him. You get some athletes who prefer to be

0:15:15 > 0:15:20eyeball with the athletes they are trying to beat. Musgrave has the

0:15:20 > 0:15:27ability to push himself to breaking point.

0:15:34 > 0:15:45We are getting towards the business end.

0:15:45 > 0:15:52end. This is Andrey Melnichenko. But it is a style that suits Andrew

0:15:52 > 0:16:01Musgrave.It takes away a tactic this Norwegian team news, Kruger got

0:16:01 > 0:16:06to the front and the two Norwegians behind him, closed ranks and held

0:16:06 > 0:16:11back on purpose to make sure Kruger had a chance to get away. Once he

0:16:11 > 0:16:18was far enough, essentially it is team orders, the other Norwegians

0:16:18 > 0:16:25went for it themselves and tidied up the other medals. You cannot do that

0:16:25 > 0:16:30in a time trial. There is nothing you can do to control your

0:16:30 > 0:16:37competitor's race. This opens it up for Andrew Musgrave. He cannot call

0:16:37 > 0:16:43upon a team of ten skier is to help him.It is about the individual

0:16:43 > 0:16:48race, this one. Plenty of opportunities to go toe to toe with

0:16:48 > 0:16:54your rivals.

0:16:54 > 0:16:57your rivals. We have mentioned Cologna. All three Norwegians who

0:16:57 > 0:17:03produce the clean sweep are in the race today.

0:17:04 > 0:17:12race today. Tony livers, we saw him warming up a few moments ago.

0:17:12 > 0:17:16warming up a few moments ago. The Swiss flags waving. The questions

0:17:16 > 0:17:25over Cologna, the big seed to go out. Is he tired after his efforts?

0:17:25 > 0:17:32But Cologna is bidding for an unprecedented hat-trick.

0:17:38 > 0:17:48This is Erik Buell son. One man who isn't here,

0:17:48 > 0:17:53isn't here, even own skin and is the reigning world champion in this

0:17:53 > 0:17:56event but after a disappointing performance in the skiathlon where

0:17:56 > 0:17:59he finished 19th and a below par sprint commie has decided to skip

0:17:59 > 0:18:06this one. So the reigning world champion from Finland is not in this

0:18:06 > 0:18:18race.Sweden, their men's team is nowhere near as strong as the women.

0:18:22 > 0:18:26Jens Berman has been outside the top 20 in every skate we have seen this

0:18:26 > 0:18:31season.

0:18:35 > 0:18:39season. The way this will work for the rest of the coverage of this

0:18:39 > 0:18:43race, we will get the checkpoints along the way and we will be able to

0:18:43 > 0:18:48compare times as people come through them. That will give you an idea but

0:18:48 > 0:18:51different athletes will take different approaches. Because

0:18:51 > 0:18:59somebody goes through ten seconds quicker at a certain checkpoint, it

0:18:59 > 0:19:04doesn't necessarily follow they will be ten seconds quicker at the

0:19:04 > 0:19:11finish. In the women's event, we saw some athletes accelerate in the

0:19:11 > 0:19:20second half of the ten kilometre race.

0:19:20 > 0:19:32race. They talk chunks out of Marion Bjorkman. New have to be patient and

0:19:32 > 0:19:39wait.Charlotte Kalla who followed up her gold medal with silver

0:19:39 > 0:19:46yesterday, went out hard in the first lap and tried to hold on. This

0:19:46 > 0:19:50is a high-quality performer. He is not seeded but we need to keep half

0:19:50 > 0:19:54an eye on him because he is a top performer and he could have a

0:19:54 > 0:20:04special day here.

0:20:14 > 0:20:22If you are just waking up we have 119 men going in this race. We have

0:20:22 > 0:20:27got a group of pretty decent athletes going out and then all the

0:20:27 > 0:20:37seeds. Then the rest. There will be one

0:20:38 > 0:20:43one Bulgarian and after this, we will have the first of the 15 seeds.

0:20:43 > 0:20:50This is where we will have to start watching the clock.Matty hiking and

0:20:50 > 0:20:57had trouble with the classic leg of the skiathlon. He looked much better

0:20:57 > 0:21:02on the skate, which helps in button has had a lot of trouble getting

0:21:02 > 0:21:07into the mindset so far. If he is going to do anything, this is the

0:21:07 > 0:21:11race to do in. Mike Andrew Musgrave, Finland is looking to him to do some

0:21:11 > 0:21:22damage.He is a former world champion in this event. He is in his

0:21:22 > 0:21:26third games and the first of the 15 big names out on the course. There

0:21:26 > 0:21:38will be different tactics involved. Some will be coming through late.

0:21:38 > 0:21:43Tyler Cornfield is not one of the seeds. We have 15 seeds to go on the

0:21:43 > 0:21:48minute with a lower ranked skier going every half a minute to give

0:21:48 > 0:21:51the seeds one minutes of free skiing between each other so there is not

0:21:51 > 0:21:56too much of an overlap. It will all become clearer when we get some

0:21:56 > 0:22:06splits out on the course.

0:22:06 > 0:22:12splits out on the course. This skier gave up mid-race and went and sat in

0:22:12 > 0:22:18the car.

0:22:18 > 0:22:21the car. He has top-10 finishes in the string but I am not convinced he

0:22:21 > 0:22:28will be much of a Challenger today. We will get these updates as we go

0:22:28 > 0:22:34through. They will become much more meaningful by the time some unlike

0:22:34 > 0:22:41Andrew Musgrave is out on the course and we will see times of the seeds

0:22:41 > 0:22:51coming through. We expect to have a pretty good idea just after 7am your

0:22:51 > 0:22:58time, where the medals are going. The first of four quality in

0:22:58 > 0:23:04Norwegians, as you would expect.

0:23:08 > 0:23:12Norwegians, as you would expect. He won the sprint in dramatic fashion a

0:23:12 > 0:23:20few days ago.

0:23:20 > 0:23:27few days ago. He was fifth in the World Championship three years ago.

0:23:35 > 0:23:41Parisse, now the seeds have gone out, we should see one by one, not

0:23:41 > 0:23:45in any particular order, which is why it is an exciting race, the

0:23:45 > 0:23:54seeds producing the early mid and late race times. Just a few minutes

0:23:54 > 0:23:58to go before Andrew Musgrave heads out onto the course, about five

0:23:58 > 0:24:04minutes from now. If you are just getting ready for work, the TV is on

0:24:04 > 0:24:09in the background in the lounge or the kitchen, give us a little bit

0:24:09 > 0:24:12more time this morning. Andrew Musgrave could be heading out onto

0:24:12 > 0:24:20the course to do very special. One man we haven't spoken about is Denis

0:24:20 > 0:24:25Betts. He is superbly talented. Watching the Norwegians warming up.

0:24:25 > 0:24:33He was fourth in the skiathlon and only just missed a medal. He could

0:24:33 > 0:24:38be a bit of a dark horse to feature on the podium, even though he's

0:24:38 > 0:24:45going out quite early. Not least because, Kruger had the collision at

0:24:45 > 0:24:49the start but came back to win. He was in the collision with him and

0:24:49 > 0:24:53came back to finish fourth. So his story at just 21 years old is almost

0:24:53 > 0:24:59as good as Kruger's from the skiathlon. From the point of Russia,

0:24:59 > 0:25:03there will be looking at him and saying commie he should be on the

0:25:03 > 0:25:10podium.He is certainly capable, as is Daniel Ricketson. He is a monster

0:25:10 > 0:25:18of a man of the leader-macro for a Cross-Country Skiing. Maybe a shade

0:25:18 > 0:25:23past his best. If you are watching the Andrew Musgrave heroics, very

0:25:23 > 0:25:30sensibly on a windy day, he got behind this big Swede for much of

0:25:30 > 0:25:34the race. It is eyeballs out from start to finish as quickly as

0:25:34 > 0:25:44possible.

0:25:44 > 0:25:53possible. There is a long way to go. Daniel Ricketson, out onto the

0:25:53 > 0:26:01course.

0:26:01 > 0:26:05course. There he is, Marcus Halma, Gold in this event four years ago.

0:26:05 > 0:26:10He was fourth in the World Championships a couple of years ago

0:26:10 > 0:26:16but he is fantastic and his CV is superb. But maybe the best days have

0:26:16 > 0:26:26come and gone.Absolutely. Six earlier this season is about the

0:26:27 > 0:26:27best

0:26:27 > 0:26:32best Marcus Hellner has been able to produce. Now we have a couple more

0:26:32 > 0:26:38athletes to go out before we see Andrew Musgrave on the start line

0:26:38 > 0:26:49here in Pyeongchang, for the race he says he can win.

0:26:57 > 0:27:00Another one of the Olympic athletes and. So hard to remember to say

0:27:00 > 0:27:05that,

0:27:05 > 0:27:10that, Andrew Luck. He was fifth in this event at the World

0:27:10 > 0:27:15Championships last year. He is a world-class clarinet player and have

0:27:15 > 0:27:20a place at music school and had a debate with himself and then chose

0:27:20 > 0:27:25correctly because he is in with a shout of winter Olympic glory. If

0:27:25 > 0:27:29you have got the lungs for cross-country skiing it is a

0:27:29 > 0:27:35transferable skill. I have not heard his clarinet playing, but I am sure

0:27:35 > 0:27:59it is delightful. We have just been talking about Spitsov and Larkov.

0:28:01 > 0:28:08Here is Andrew Musgrave of Great Britain. Is he at the beginning of a

0:28:08 > 0:28:1115 kilometre journey that will bring him the glory he has sought for so

0:28:11 > 0:28:19many years? We are not over exaggerating, this is his best

0:28:19 > 0:28:22distance, his best event and he has a chance of doing something very

0:28:22 > 0:28:29special over the next 35 minutes or so.His determination has exuded

0:28:29 > 0:28:35over this Olympics. Finish seventh in the skiathlon, but not satisfied

0:28:35 > 0:28:39with that, even though it was a phenomenal result for British

0:28:39 > 0:28:44cross-country. Even watching his face on the start line, I felt he

0:28:44 > 0:28:49was dripping with, let me add this. I want to prove myself of this. We

0:28:49 > 0:28:56will find out. It is going to take each skier 35 minutes, give or take.

0:28:56 > 0:29:01We will find out just after 7am UK time if Andrew Musgrave did have

0:29:01 > 0:29:06enough.

0:29:14 > 0:29:22He is so experienced. He finished eighth on the final climb of the

0:29:22 > 0:29:30toured the ski. A mention of Andrew Young, who we will have just missed,

0:29:30 > 0:29:35he

0:29:35 > 0:29:47he headed out between Andrew

0:29:50 > 0:30:02Musgrave and Jean-Marc Gaillard. We may have to wait seven minutes after

0:30:02 > 0:30:12Andrew Musgrave finishes whether we know if he is on the podium or not.

0:30:16 > 0:30:23Kruger, flat on his face with a broken pole 100s into that race. It

0:30:23 > 0:30:28was an extraordinary performance. They will go down in history. The

0:30:28 > 0:30:34majority of that incredible performance happened about six

0:30:34 > 0:30:38kilometres into that race. He was still 40 seconds back into the

0:30:38 > 0:30:47classic and then he cut loose. This event is suited to him. He is a

0:30:47 > 0:30:51World Cup winner over 15 kilometre skater earlier this season, which is

0:30:51 > 0:30:56the same race Musgrave finished third. So we know Andrew Musgrave

0:30:56 > 0:31:01can be up there with these contenders, but we have distress,

0:31:01 > 0:31:08Andrew Musgrave has never won a race like this.

0:31:08 > 0:31:19This is huge for soon Sundby. He is still searching for his first Winter

0:31:19 > 0:31:24Olympics idle. If he does it today, he will be the oldest Norwegian male

0:31:24 > 0:31:28cross-country champion for them. He is 33, which shows you just how

0:31:28 > 0:31:35tough it is for someone like Sundby to yet be a winter Olympic champion.

0:31:35 > 0:31:39There is our first split from Andrew Musgrave. He is a little way off the

0:31:39 > 0:31:44pace of Krogh, who lived at this stage. But there is a long way to go

0:31:44 > 0:31:49here and there are different tactics employed by different skiers. As we

0:31:49 > 0:31:54saw yesterday.

0:31:55 > 0:31:58saw yesterday. Here is the other medallist from the clean sweep in

0:31:58 > 0:32:09the skiathlon, the really talented Hans Christer Holund. He has had two

0:32:09 > 0:32:14podiums in his first race this year. So again, not necessarily the rock

0:32:14 > 0:32:21star of the Norwegian team, but he could well feature as he did on

0:32:21 > 0:32:25Saturday.He was worried that he wouldn't be put into that skiathlon

0:32:25 > 0:32:29team from Norway. He was worried that people were saying he wasn't

0:32:29 > 0:32:33good enough. Getting that bronze means that now he will have a lot of

0:32:33 > 0:32:38confidence coming into this. As you said about Andrew Musgrave's split,

0:32:38 > 0:32:41it is still early. Now he will be getting feedback from the coaching

0:32:41 > 0:32:46team and he will be kept in touch with where he is time-wise and he

0:32:46 > 0:32:51can adapt as he needs to. We don't know his strategy. It is hard to

0:32:51 > 0:32:55tell if he is in trouble at this point or if he is just pursuing it a

0:32:55 > 0:32:59different way. Things will become clearer when Rick pass some of the

0:32:59 > 0:33:02later checkpoints like this ten kilometre checkpoint we are coming

0:33:02 > 0:33:07up on now, where you can see some of the early athletes starting to come

0:33:07 > 0:33:14through.Three big seeds have yet to start in this massive field of

0:33:14 > 0:33:20world-class cross-country skiers. It is around -5. The wind at our last

0:33:20 > 0:33:27checkpoint was 16 kilometres an hour and it is getting blustery. That is

0:33:27 > 0:33:30Krueger, the champion in the skiathlon, bidding for back-to-back

0:33:30 > 0:33:36Olympic gold medals. No one Norwegian has won this title for 50

0:33:36 > 0:33:40years, which I find extraordinary. But those are the facts, so there is

0:33:40 > 0:33:44a piece of history on the table for the Norwegians if they can do the

0:33:44 > 0:33:50business today.I would be surprised if it stays that way by the end of

0:33:50 > 0:33:56the day, but here is a man who could stop them winning, Dario Cologna.

0:33:56 > 0:34:01Aiming for an unprecedented hat-trick of victories. Gold in

0:34:01 > 0:34:05Vancouver, gold in Sochi. And the gold in Sochi came after he had

0:34:05 > 0:34:08overcome a bad ankle injury earlier in the season. That meant a

0:34:08 > 0:34:17different approach to Sochi. He was under raced and rested and ready. As

0:34:17 > 0:34:22Ollie was saying earlier, this man from Switzerland is a hugely popular

0:34:22 > 0:34:27figure back home. The question is whether he will be tired. Sundby is

0:34:27 > 0:34:33searching for that elusive winter Olympic gold medal. He is just three

0:34:33 > 0:34:37seconds behind his compatriot, Krogh, with a mile raced at the

0:34:37 > 0:34:48moment and there are some big names behind him.

0:34:48 > 0:34:57behind him.Interesting to see Krogh's time holding up. Now, the

0:34:57 > 0:35:04last of the big names.Maurice Manificat, fifth in the skiathlon, a

0:35:04 > 0:35:08couple of places ahead of Andrew Musgrave. Good work from the

0:35:08 > 0:35:14Frenchman. He has won two World Cup races this season, both of them over

0:35:14 > 0:35:2115K. No disrespect to the men who start with its 71 to 119, but all

0:35:21 > 0:35:26the men who will feature for gold, silver and bronze are now out on the

0:35:26 > 0:35:30course, including Saturday's bronze medallist Holllund, who moved to

0:35:30 > 0:35:38third. We are still waiting for our second split from Andrew Musgrave.

0:35:38 > 0:35:42Interesting to see there Norwegian flags already stacking up as we look

0:35:42 > 0:35:47at some of the early spits. We will wait for the six kilometres split to

0:35:47 > 0:35:57come through.

0:36:08 > 0:36:14There is a long way to go here. Remember, it is 15K, four circuits

0:36:14 > 0:36:21of 3.75 kilometres.

0:36:21 > 0:36:23of 3.75 kilometres. Alex Harvey is after a piece of winter Olympic

0:36:23 > 0:36:26history as well. And he is disappointed, because he didn't come

0:36:26 > 0:36:33through the qualification round in the sprint. Harvey is not far off

0:36:33 > 0:36:38Krogh's pace. Apparently, he got hit by an enormous gust of wind. With

0:36:38 > 0:36:44another skier, you might think they were making excuses. We are looking

0:36:44 > 0:36:51at Krogh. Alex Harvey has a chance to do something special for Canada

0:36:51 > 0:36:59today, and he is in shape. He had a tough start to these Olympics. You

0:36:59 > 0:37:02mentioned that gust of wind. He stormed out after that and didn't

0:37:02 > 0:37:14even speak to anybody. He will need to refocus himself.

0:37:14 > 0:37:19to refocus himself. Now we get to see Dario Cologna come through the

0:37:19 > 0:37:23first checkpoint. This will give an indication of where he is compared

0:37:23 > 0:37:30to the time of Krogh, one of the younger Norwegians. It will be

0:37:30 > 0:37:36interesting to see what his strategy is for the rest of this 15K.I can

0:37:36 > 0:37:43understand the Swiss public being a bit nervous about Cologna. But he is

0:37:43 > 0:37:48the master of picking at the right time. The question is whether he has

0:37:48 > 0:37:55managed to shake off the fatigue from that Tour De Ski in January.

0:37:55 > 0:38:04Just an update on Andrew Musgrave. His time at 1.5 K Rankin 42nd, 13

0:38:04 > 0:38:10seconds off the leading time, which is Krogh. This is the 21-year-old

0:38:10 > 0:38:19Olympic Athlete from Russia. Now, Manificat, last of the big names out

0:38:19 > 0:38:25onto the course. You will hear roaring from various coaches. And he

0:38:25 > 0:38:31goes into the lead. He is bidding to become the first French Olympic

0:38:31 > 0:38:37cross-country skiing champion, which would be an extraordinary story. You

0:38:37 > 0:38:40could hear the coaches shouting encouragement and information at

0:38:40 > 0:38:44him. Information is crucial for telling these skiers where they are

0:38:44 > 0:38:52in relation to the others. It is, because you can't see them over your

0:38:52 > 0:38:57shoulder. You have to get that information from your coach to know

0:38:57 > 0:39:11what your splits are looking like. Manificat told reporters this week,

0:39:11 > 0:39:15with the confidence I have, I have to go for a medal. He likes this

0:39:15 > 0:39:21individual format.

0:39:21 > 0:39:29individual format.Dario Cologna, and that is Boegl.

0:39:33 > 0:39:40and that is Boegl. Andrew Musgrave is a little off the pace.

0:39:41 > 0:39:45is a little off the pace. But it would be uncharacteristic for him to

0:39:45 > 0:39:50be struggling this early. It is his best event. I wonder whether he has

0:39:50 > 0:39:54decided to start a bit conservatively and then really wind

0:39:54 > 0:40:01it up in the second half of the race. 1500m, you are only a tenth of

0:40:01 > 0:40:05the way through, so there is a long way to go, but we wouldn't want to

0:40:05 > 0:40:12see that time drifting more than 20 seconds behind the leaders. He would

0:40:12 > 0:40:14be having to save a lot for the second half of the race. Andrew

0:40:14 > 0:40:24Young went through 32nd, compared to 42nd for Musgrave. Spitsov went

0:40:24 > 0:40:30through 23rd. So he is not the only one going through off the pace, that

0:40:30 > 0:40:34it would mean now having to absolutely accelerate and push

0:40:34 > 0:40:42through into that six kilometre onwards. Spitsov absolutely pulled

0:40:42 > 0:40:46it back, but we would need to see similar and much better from

0:40:46 > 0:40:52Musgrave as we go through these checkpoints.

0:40:59 > 0:41:02This is a beautiful course. The South Koreans have done such a good

0:41:02 > 0:41:10job. All of the tracks are stunning to ski. They are not bad to jog

0:41:10 > 0:41:16around either. They have done a superb job. There is not much wind

0:41:16 > 0:41:22on that section of the course.

0:41:22 > 0:41:25on that section of the course. It is quite blustery, but on that far

0:41:25 > 0:41:35section, it looks relatively well sheltered.

0:41:40 > 0:41:45I wonder whether Dario Cologna could close in on an unprecedented

0:41:45 > 0:41:51hat-trick. It would take each of these guys around 35mm to complete

0:41:51 > 0:41:58this 15K. Fergie goes into the lead by a minute, but you would expect

0:41:58 > 0:42:02that bearing in mind the level of performance from the skiers who

0:42:02 > 0:42:09headed out before the 15 seats who are now on the course.

0:42:11 > 0:42:14are now on the course. When you look at the splits, focus on the distance

0:42:14 > 0:42:18in the bottom right-hand corner. We will see skiers go through different

0:42:18 > 0:42:25checkpoints. By the time we see the top seeds going through that

0:42:25 > 0:42:33checkpoint, we will have an idea of where they rank.

0:42:43 > 0:42:46We are probably a few minutes back from seeing the likes of Dario

0:42:46 > 0:42:52Cologna go through the same checkpoint.

0:42:58 > 0:43:04Andrew Musgrave has gone through in 14th place at the six K marker. In

0:43:04 > 0:43:10time terms, he is 26 seconds off the pace set by Halfvarsson. But one of

0:43:10 > 0:43:14the other favourites is also a little way off that pace. So a few

0:43:14 > 0:43:20moments of concern here for Andrew Musgrave, albeit he has yet to reach

0:43:20 > 0:43:26the halfway stage. We don't know whether he is struggling at this

0:43:26 > 0:43:30point because we can't see him. And maybe he had a tactic of going out

0:43:30 > 0:43:35conservatively on the first two circuits and winding it up in the

0:43:35 > 0:43:49second half of the race. We will not have to wait long to find out.

0:43:50 > 0:43:56This is Krueger, the gold medallist in the skiathlon. Good skiing from

0:43:56 > 0:44:00the man who traditionally produces his best in the classic style of

0:44:00 > 0:44:12skiing where they stayed pretty much in those tracks.

0:44:19 > 0:44:28All the big names are now out on the course.

0:44:28 > 0:44:32course. Furger is coming in to the finish. I am sure it will be a

0:44:32 > 0:44:40relief. It is a pretty testing circuit.

0:44:40 > 0:44:47circuit. Halfvarsson has been overtaken by Krueger.

0:44:55 > 0:45:01It is anybody in the numbers from the 50s onwards. You want to be

0:45:01 > 0:45:07watching out for how they do as we see Roman Furger crossing the

0:45:07 > 0:45:12finishing line. He will set the fastest time we have seen so far,

0:45:12 > 0:45:17but to all these checkpoints now, you see what it takes to get across

0:45:17 > 0:45:24the finish line in this cold. We watch Holland coming up to the six

0:45:24 > 0:45:28kilometre checkpoint. We still have five top athletes to come through

0:45:28 > 0:45:34the six kilometre checkpoint where we note Andrew Musgrave was 14th a

0:45:34 > 0:45:41little while ago. We will let you know once we have seen Maurice

0:45:41 > 0:45:45Manificat come through. As we watch Holland come through and he moves

0:45:45 > 0:45:53into the provisional lead.It is Norway, first, second and third.

0:45:53 > 0:45:59Holland, the bronze medallist from the skiathlon, Krueger, the

0:45:59 > 0:46:08champion. It is Norway in first, second and third. Andrew Musgrave is

0:46:08 > 0:46:1533 seconds off the pace. This is Denis Spitsov coming up. I think he

0:46:15 > 0:46:20has got a great chance because those world under 23 championships were

0:46:20 > 0:46:28not that long ago. He has come off the back of some top quality racing.

0:46:28 > 0:46:33Got on the podium with a silver. He will be feeling pretty confident

0:46:33 > 0:46:40after coming so close to a medal in the skiathlon. He moves ahead of

0:46:40 > 0:46:52Calle Halfvarsson.Just a little update, as we watch Alex Harvey the

0:46:52 > 0:46:59Canada, losing time, sitting third through six kilometres. Andrew

0:46:59 > 0:47:04Musgrave is 30 seconds back, so it would take some phenomenal splits to

0:47:04 > 0:47:08the end of the race for him to have an impact on the medals.Especially

0:47:08 > 0:47:13bearing in mind seven of the top names are on an earlier section of

0:47:13 > 0:47:19the course. We would expect the leading time from 7.5 kilometres of

0:47:19 > 0:47:23Calle Halfvarsson to be overtaken, possibly by the three Norwegians who

0:47:23 > 0:47:33got on the podium on Saturday. 68, Dario Cologna. A popular figure in

0:47:33 > 0:47:37Switzerland. Three winter Olympic gold medals. He has taken the lead

0:47:37 > 0:47:42by ten seconds. We were talking about him being overcooked and

0:47:42 > 0:47:52tired. That is good work from Dario Cologna. It is only the French of

0:47:52 > 0:47:59Maurice Manificat to come through the checkpoint behind him.The Swiss

0:47:59 > 0:48:03newspaper this morning called him the Roger Federer of snow, for what

0:48:03 > 0:48:10he has done for so long in this sport and we will get to see if that

0:48:10 > 0:48:17time will outlast his rival, Maurice Manificat, as he, the last of the

0:48:17 > 0:48:23seeds approaches this six kilometre split.

0:48:23 > 0:48:29split.Already, gasping for air. It is a brutal sport, the ultimate test

0:48:29 > 0:48:36of upper body, as well as the legs. Dario Cologna, has put a marker

0:48:36 > 0:48:41down. No man in the history of Cross-Country Skiing has won the

0:48:41 > 0:48:48same event three times. Dario Cologna was victorious in Vancouver

0:48:48 > 0:48:52and Sochi. And Maurice Manificat is in a medal position at the moment.

0:48:52 > 0:48:58He is in the bronze medal position. But the man who has set the pace for

0:48:58 > 0:49:03the first six kilometres is Dario Cologna. He didn't have the legs in

0:49:03 > 0:49:07the skiathlon. He couldn't go with the Norwegians, but this is looking

0:49:07 > 0:49:12better so far from the man from Switzerland. You cannot necessarily

0:49:12 > 0:49:21tell.

0:49:21 > 0:49:27tell. As we look at the standings, there is plenty of Norwegian talent

0:49:27 > 0:49:33in with a chance of a medal. But you cannot tell just how much strategy

0:49:33 > 0:49:39goes in. We see Andrew Musgrave, 21st at the six kilometre mark with

0:49:39 > 0:49:4444.5 second gap and we will wait to see how it looks around the ten

0:49:44 > 0:49:48kilometre mark later on, as we see some of the other finishers coming

0:49:48 > 0:49:55through. There is so much strategy in terms of when you decide to push

0:49:55 > 0:49:59in this 15 kilometres. Which part of the cause you decide to go big on.

0:49:59 > 0:50:05You can see what it takes out of athletes. Eventually when you have

0:50:05 > 0:50:09finished, you get to sit in the hot seat at the end of this and relax

0:50:09 > 0:50:13for a little while. That is Roman Furger, we were watching. At the

0:50:13 > 0:50:21finish, he is your leading man, so far. But that time will get pushed

0:50:21 > 0:50:24further and further down as you see those seeds come in in maybe the

0:50:24 > 0:50:30next ten or 15 minutes. There is Andrey Melnichenko coming into the

0:50:30 > 0:50:38finish. He was the 31st man out onto the course. 29th in the skiathlon.

0:50:38 > 0:50:43He is not going to push Roman Furger out of the leader's chair right now.

0:50:43 > 0:50:48From a British point of view we are keeping an eye on Andrew Musgrave,

0:50:48 > 0:50:56who was in 21st position and six kilometre marker. On the button, who

0:50:56 > 0:51:00was so good in the skiathlon on Sunday, he cannot afford for the gap

0:51:00 > 0:51:06to get any bigger. Andrey Melnichenko, flat on his face. These

0:51:06 > 0:51:09men and the women in the cross-country races, giving

0:51:09 > 0:51:13everything. It is a familiar sight to see them lying horizontal on the

0:51:13 > 0:51:19floor at the end of the race, gasping for oxygen. There is nothing

0:51:19 > 0:51:23better at the end of the race than the feeling of cold snow. You give

0:51:23 > 0:51:31so much to it, it is the easiest way to relax and get your breath back to

0:51:31 > 0:51:42lie prone on the floor and get some of the snow into your face.

0:51:42 > 0:51:50of the snow into your face.Lucas Boegl, coming into the finish. Dario

0:51:50 > 0:51:58Cologna is in the lead. Holland is in second place with Alex Harvey the

0:51:58 > 0:52:06Canadian in third. Still waiting for the update on Andrew Musgrave. Our

0:52:06 > 0:52:13last checkpoint, he was 21st. He has moved up one place to 20th, but move

0:52:13 > 0:52:20further behind in time from 45 to 50 seconds adrift. Halfway through the

0:52:20 > 0:52:28rays, cannot afford that to get any bigger. This is Krueger, the

0:52:28 > 0:52:34magnificent champion from the skiathlon. Denis Spitsov was in

0:52:34 > 0:52:38seventh at the preceding checkpoint. It gives you an indication as to how

0:52:38 > 0:52:42many big names have yet to come through. Denis Spitsov was leading

0:52:42 > 0:52:48up until Krueger leading that checkpoint at around six miles. What

0:52:48 > 0:52:54a story it was from Krueger. He almost contemplated not carrying on.

0:52:54 > 0:52:59The poll was broken in the skiathlon, flat on his face. It was

0:52:59 > 0:53:03only the second race on the cross-country programme here in

0:53:03 > 0:53:07Pyeongchang. It was an indication as to how much drama was to come and

0:53:07 > 0:53:11how much drama we still have before the end of the programme next

0:53:11 > 0:53:17Sunday.

0:53:17 > 0:53:21Sunday.One thing that may not be too apparent from the pictures is

0:53:21 > 0:53:27how steep some of the hills you are looking at. There are four loops of

0:53:27 > 0:53:37two separate courses. Both of them have significant elevation. This is

0:53:37 > 0:53:43by no means flat. You see Calle Halfvarsson at that stage, going

0:53:43 > 0:53:52into a relatively healthy lead. When we look back at Dario

0:53:52 > 0:53:56we look back at Dario Cologna, you look at the times he is putting in

0:53:56 > 0:54:02there are only six or seven athletes within 40 seconds of him. When we

0:54:02 > 0:54:06see Dario Cologna coming to this checkpoint, it will be interesting

0:54:06 > 0:54:13to see who is in any sort of touch with him.We are getting to the

0:54:13 > 0:54:21interesting part of this race now. Hans Christer Holund, that camera

0:54:21 > 0:54:29angle does illustrate how tough some of these climes are. But Hans

0:54:29 > 0:54:37Christer Holund, coming through. He is in third place. Just drifting a

0:54:37 > 0:54:42few seconds behind Krueger. The man behind whom he finished in the

0:54:42 > 0:54:49skiathlon. Great shots of the three Norwegians on the podium. But we are

0:54:49 > 0:54:55waiting to see Dario Cologna reach that checkpoint.

0:54:57 > 0:55:00that checkpoint. 66 is Alex Harvey. Remember, Alex Harvey is after a

0:55:00 > 0:55:05piece of history, to be the first Canadian man to win a Winter Olympic

0:55:05 > 0:55:09Cross-Country Skiing medal. I am sure his dad would be very proud.

0:55:09 > 0:55:15His dad was a winter and summer Olympian and in 1988 when Alex

0:55:15 > 0:55:20Harvey was born, his dad had the honour of leading the athletes' out

0:55:20 > 0:55:27at the opening ceremony in Calgary. Now can he close in on a very

0:55:27 > 0:55:30special performance? Andrew Musgrave, by the way, has gone

0:55:30 > 0:55:35through

0:55:38 > 0:55:40through this 9.8 kilometre checkpoint 48 seconds off the pace

0:55:40 > 0:55:43in 18th place. It is not looking good at the moment for Andrew

0:55:43 > 0:55:46Musgrave. It is not looking like it will be as good a performance as we

0:55:46 > 0:55:52saw from him in the skiathlon on Sunday. As far as the leaders are

0:55:52 > 0:55:54concerned, Dario Cologna, the charismatic man from Switzerland,

0:55:54 > 0:56:02these checkpoints tell you how much he has been putting away from

0:56:02 > 0:56:06Krueger. -- pulling away. He is almost two thirds of the way

0:56:06 > 0:56:13through. Only Maurice Manificat, one of the big names behind him. What a

0:56:13 > 0:56:18performance from Dario Cologna. Maurice Manificat is going to have

0:56:18 > 0:56:24to find a minimum of 15 seconds to catch up where Dario Cologna is now.

0:56:24 > 0:56:35He has taken times out of the Norwegians. Another sensational

0:56:35 > 0:56:40performance from super Dario. We still have big names on this race

0:56:40 > 0:56:46and you cannot afford to thing you have won. And the feedback from his

0:56:46 > 0:56:52coach will be, you have got to keep pushing. Now, at the finish, the

0:56:52 > 0:56:56seeds are beginning to come to the end of their race. Matti Heikkinen

0:56:56 > 0:57:03was the first seed to go out on the course. He took the lead and Calle

0:57:03 > 0:57:09Halfvarsson, by 0.9 of a second will have the honour of sitting in the

0:57:09 > 0:57:13leader's chair. Maurice Manificat, last of the big names coming up to

0:57:13 > 0:57:18this checkpoint. Now you get an indication of the wind, you can see

0:57:18 > 0:57:22the snow blowing across the course into the faces of these Herculean

0:57:22 > 0:57:30men, made of iron will and solid legs. Maurice Manificat in second

0:57:30 > 0:57:34place, 23 seconds off the pace being set by Dario Cologna. Dario Cologna,

0:57:34 > 0:57:41three times a winter Olympic champion, twice in this event. He is

0:57:41 > 0:57:47bidding for an unprecedented hat-trick.

0:57:47 > 0:57:51hat-trick. Dario Cologna has a stranglehold on this, can he keep it

0:57:51 > 0:57:57going?When you look at this you are two thirds through the race. Andrew

0:57:57 > 0:58:02Musgrave, that kind of, this far into the race is surely going to be

0:58:02 > 0:58:06almost too much for anyone else to pull off. That being said, as we

0:58:06 > 0:58:11were talking about a few moments ago, Dario Cologna cannot afford to

0:58:11 > 0:58:15take it easy but some of his pedigree should be able to defend a

0:58:15 > 0:58:22wide margin like that.Denis Spitsov has come across the line, a fine

0:58:22 > 0:58:26performance from the 21-year-old. He is a star for the future. Only just

0:58:26 > 0:58:36missed a medal in the skiathlon, finishing in fourth. World under 23

0:58:36 > 0:58:43silver in this event. He sets the fastest time by 37 seconds. All the

0:58:43 > 0:58:47best of the rest top seed still to make their way towards the finish

0:58:47 > 0:58:53line. If you are just waking up, hoping to hear good news for Great

0:58:53 > 0:58:57Britain's Andrew Musgrave, he is just inside the top 20 with about

0:58:57 > 0:59:02five kilometres to go of this 15 mutter course. It is not necessarily

0:59:02 > 0:59:06looking like it will be the heretics who saw from him in the skiathlon on

0:59:06 > 0:59:13Sunday. -- heretics. This is confirmation of how it stands at the

0:59:13 > 0:59:18finish. This should be a few changes at the top of that leader board

0:59:18 > 0:59:21wants the big names, most notably the four world-class Norwegians,

0:59:21 > 0:59:26coming across the line. The Canadian, Alex Harvey, who is in

0:59:26 > 0:59:35with a shout for Winter Olympic glory. Daniel Rickardsson, the huge

0:59:35 > 0:59:39Swede, did so well to get a medal in this event four years ago. But he

0:59:39 > 0:59:42hasn't been in that kind of shape this year. In fact, we should

0:59:42 > 0:59:50mention that his journey in this sport has been laced with tragedy.

0:59:50 > 0:59:53He was changing attire by the side of the road with a good friend of

0:59:53 > 1:00:00his and both were run over

1:00:00 > 1:00:00of the road with a good friend of his and both were run over. His

1:00:00 > 1:00:07friend was killed. He says he uses his skiing as a therapy. He has been

1:00:07 > 1:00:11on a tough journey away from the sport. It is a good effort from

1:00:11 > 1:00:16Daniel Rickardsson, but it won't be a medal for him today.This finish

1:00:16 > 1:00:21line, likely to be the time we next he Andrew Musgrave. We are still

1:00:21 > 1:00:29keeping an eye out for his time. We now watch Marcus Hellner, a real

1:00:29 > 1:00:36Swedish skiing great, 32 years old, gold in Sochi, gold in Vancouver. He

1:00:36 > 1:00:40is provisionally in second place as he collapses over the finish line.

1:00:40 > 1:00:48But we are expecting him to be pushed down by the

1:00:48 > 1:00:51pushed down by the likes of Krueger. This is our last chance to get an

1:00:51 > 1:00:58update on these athletes before they had to the finish.

1:00:58 > 1:01:02Krueger, hoping to close in on something that hasn't been done for

1:01:02 > 1:01:06half a century by a Norwegian, which is hard to believe considering how

1:01:06 > 1:01:10much they have dominated male and female cross-country skiing in

1:01:10 > 1:01:16recent years. No Norwegian man has won this title since 1968. And how

1:01:16 > 1:01:21he would be excited if he could win two successive winter Olympic gold

1:01:21 > 1:01:28medals.An update on Andrew Musgrave - he came through this 13.5

1:01:28 > 1:01:34kilometre checkpoint one minute and 38 seconds slower than Krueger.

1:01:34 > 1:01:38Currently in 20 Third Place. That will become 24th when we see some

1:01:38 > 1:01:45become through -- when we see Sundby come through. They will not be

1:01:45 > 1:01:50Andrew Musgrave's day.I am sure we will get information afterwards as

1:01:50 > 1:01:53to why today hasn't been as encouraging as the performance on

1:01:53 > 1:01:58Sunday. We should mention that he has the opportunity to go in the 50

1:01:58 > 1:02:01K, an event in which he was only a second half away from a bronze medal

1:02:01 > 1:02:10last year in Finland. Sundby is in second place behind his compatriot

1:02:10 > 1:02:18Krueger. And that was how they finished in the skiathlon on Sunday.

1:02:18 > 1:02:24Krueger, being roared on by the Norwegian coaches.

1:02:25 > 1:02:29Norwegian coaches. But we have yet to see Dario Cologna reached the

1:02:29 > 1:02:3213.5 K marker. Hollund will be the next of the big one Norwegian is to

1:02:32 > 1:02:38come through. He was delighted when he was on the podium, a great

1:02:38 > 1:02:41picture that was on the front of the Norwegian papers on Monday morning.

1:02:41 > 1:02:47He said he felt a bit surprised to be alongside Krueger and Sundby. It

1:02:47 > 1:02:54was a special moment for him. You would imagine the predominant colour

1:02:54 > 1:02:58for the Norwegians is read, but when he went on the podium, for some

1:02:58 > 1:03:02reason he was wearing all blue. I had to double check whether it was a

1:03:02 > 1:03:05Norwegian 1-2-3 and it was, but there must be a reason why he was

1:03:05 > 1:03:11wearing a different tracksuit. Last-minute signing by the Swedish

1:03:11 > 1:03:22team between the finish line and the podium.

1:03:30 > 1:03:36We are watching Krueger come down towards the finished now.Krueger

1:03:36 > 1:03:43will surely replace Spitsov in the leader's chair, because at the 13.5

1:03:43 > 1:03:49K marker, Spitsov was ten seconds slower than Krueger. He is having a

1:03:49 > 1:03:56fantastic Winter Olympic Games, Simen Hegstad Krueger. Gold in the

1:03:56 > 1:04:02skiathlon after falling.

1:04:02 > 1:04:06skiathlon after falling. He is about to put himself back on top. The

1:04:06 > 1:04:10question is, for how long? It's a fine effort from the 21-year-old

1:04:10 > 1:04:18Spitsov, because Krueger is quicker, but not by much. And that is how

1:04:18 > 1:04:23much it has taken out of the man who got the gold medal on Sunday.

1:04:23 > 1:04:26Phenomenal from Krueger, who has left out of this Norwegian team and

1:04:26 > 1:04:33is making a name for himself. We are seeing Cologna come up to the 13.5 K

1:04:33 > 1:04:37marker. We did just see Alex Harbour, who was a medal prospect.

1:04:37 > 1:04:45He was in fifth place -- Alex Harvey. And Cologna has just taken a

1:04:45 > 1:04:50bite out of that time and has an 18 second margin over Krueger heading

1:04:50 > 1:04:57into the last 1.5 kilometres. What a race.An amazing performance from

1:04:57 > 1:05:05Dario Cologna. Sundby was still watching Krueger from that

1:05:05 > 1:05:10magnificent aerial shot. Krueger, flat on the ground, watching his

1:05:10 > 1:05:15compatriot Sundby come home, but Sundby will finish behind him. He

1:05:15 > 1:05:19has been a magnificent ambassador for Norwegian cross-country skiing.

1:05:19 > 1:05:27He is third, just behind Denis Spitsov. It underlines the great

1:05:27 > 1:05:31last 1.5 kilometres it was from Spitsov, the Olympic Athlete from

1:05:31 > 1:05:38Russia at the age of 21. Sundby is third at the moment. Krueger leads.

1:05:38 > 1:05:44All eyes on Dario Cologna. Super Dario, aiming for an unprecedented

1:05:44 > 1:05:49hat-trick of victories in this most brutal of events. Ollie, the Swiss

1:05:49 > 1:05:53may have been worried about him being overcooked from a fourth

1:05:53 > 1:05:58unprecedented Tour De Ski victory. He is proving he is still the man to

1:05:58 > 1:06:07beat.We are looking at Manificat. Maybe Spitsov, who has performed so

1:06:07 > 1:06:16well today, might get onto the podium. He is now fourth or fifth.

1:06:16 > 1:06:20It is looking like it could be a procession into the stadium for

1:06:20 > 1:06:27Dario Cologna.Manificat was 28 seconds behind Cologna at that

1:06:27 > 1:06:36point. It is not to be a repeat of Hollund's brilliant bronze in the

1:06:36 > 1:06:42skiathlon, another man crashing to the ground. One by one, the would-be

1:06:42 > 1:06:45pretenders to Cologna's throne are falling by the wayside. It's an

1:06:45 > 1:06:52incredible record if he can secure the hat-trick. An update on Andrew

1:06:52 > 1:07:01Musgrave. He has finished in what is so far 25th position, one minute 48

1:07:01 > 1:07:06off the pace. A real shame and I am sure he is a man who sets very high

1:07:06 > 1:07:10standards for himself, which was why he was disappointed with seventh in

1:07:10 > 1:07:12the skiathlon because he thought he was good enough to get a medal

1:07:12 > 1:07:13the skiathlon because he thought he was good enough to get a medal.

1:07:13 > 1:07:17There must be a reason for Musgrave finishing outside the top 20. We

1:07:17 > 1:07:21hope to bring that to you after this race. But let's focus on the man on

1:07:21 > 1:07:30our screens. Alex Harvey is bidding to become Canada passed my first

1:07:30 > 1:07:34male cross-country medallist. It was not to be, but he should be proud of

1:07:34 > 1:07:42that performance. This is Dario Cologna.

1:07:42 > 1:07:45Cologna. Gold in Vancouver, gold in Sochi and against all the odds and

1:07:45 > 1:07:50up against an unbelievable quartet of Norwegians, it looks like it's

1:07:50 > 1:07:54going to be gold again here in Pyeongchang. We have just witnessed

1:07:54 > 1:08:03history. No man has ever won the same event three times in the

1:08:03 > 1:08:07history of cross-country skiing, but Dario Cologna has. He is already the

1:08:07 > 1:08:10toast of Switzerland. His status now as one of the all-time greats is

1:08:10 > 1:08:17surely guaranteed. They thought he had done too much this season,

1:08:17 > 1:08:20winning the Tour De Ski an unprecedented fourth time. If you

1:08:20 > 1:08:27look at the other Olympic champions here, Krueger, they all dropped out

1:08:27 > 1:08:32of the Tour De Ski. They said, we need to prepare. This man won it,

1:08:32 > 1:08:37came to the Olympics and won again. The third time in a row that he has

1:08:37 > 1:08:41taken the Olympic gold medal, unless Maurice Manificat can pull out

1:08:41 > 1:08:47something truly Manificat in the last kilometre or so. But time is

1:08:47 > 1:08:52running out. He will not take that incredible gold medal away from

1:08:52 > 1:08:58Dario Cologna. He worked. A good effort from the Frenchman, who was

1:08:58 > 1:09:06also chasing his own moment of history. Cologna is still flat on

1:09:06 > 1:09:12his back, probably barely able to believe what he has just achieved.

1:09:12 > 1:09:20Manificat is being roared on by the crowd. But it is not to be a medal

1:09:20 > 1:09:28for the Frenchman. It looked like he might close in on Denis Spitsov, but

1:09:28 > 1:09:34not to be. What a performance from Dario Cologna. It is hard to

1:09:34 > 1:09:41overplay what a popular figure he is in Switzerland. He set up a parkour

1:09:41 > 1:09:49club for kids in Switzerland. 7000 and in the first year alone. Now he

1:09:49 > 1:09:53salutes the crowd. Now the realisation dawns that he is a

1:09:53 > 1:09:57three-time winner of this event, and not even the great beyond an managed

1:09:57 > 1:10:02to achieve that in the same event. It is such a brutal sport with so

1:10:02 > 1:10:09many things that can go wrong, and he has done it. Dario Cologna reigns

1:10:09 > 1:10:17supreme today here in Pyeongchang. STUDIO: Disappointment Andrew

1:10:17 > 1:10:21Musgrave, but history at the cross-country course. Dario Cologna

1:10:21 > 1:10:25from Switzerland winning a third consecutive gold medal in this

1:10:25 > 1:10:30event, the first time any cross-country skier has that feat.

1:10:30 > 1:10:36Andrew Musgrave will I am sure be disappointed with his day at the

1:10:36 > 1:10:46cross-country centre.

1:10:54 > 1:10:59If you have just joined us, welcome. We have gone off piste. The balcony

1:10:59 > 1:11:03was not merely cold enough for us, so we have come down here into the

1:11:03 > 1:11:07snow. If you have just joined us, here is what you have missed on day

1:11:07 > 1:11:17seven so far. Here are the headlines. Reigning champion and you

1:11:17 > 1:11:26took the figure skating title with a flawless programme -- Hanyu. His

1:11:26 > 1:11:30archrival Nathan Chen suffered a nightmare routine to end down in

1:11:30 > 1:11:3717th. Lindsey Jacobellis's bid for Olympic snowboard cross redemption

1:11:37 > 1:11:40ended in disappointment again as the American, 12 years after her

1:11:40 > 1:11:45infamous showboating left her with silver in Turin, finished fourth as

1:11:45 > 1:11:51Italy's Michela Moioli one goal. Norway have won the last four Libby

1:11:51 > 1:11:56got medals in the men's Super-G, but it was Austria's 2014 downhill

1:11:56 > 1:12:00champion Matthias Mayer who took a surprise victory today. There was a

1:12:00 > 1:12:05massive shock in the women's slalom is America's Mikaela Shiffrin, one

1:12:05 > 1:12:08of the biggest gold medal favourites in Pyeongchang, could only finish

1:12:08 > 1:12:14fourth as Sweden's Frida Hansdotter took gold. And in that race, Great

1:12:14 > 1:12:18Britain's Charlie Guest finished 33rd, a very credible result given

1:12:18 > 1:12:23that she is making her Olympic debut in Pyeongchang just three years

1:12:23 > 1:12:30after fracturing four vertebrae whilst training in Sweden. Great

1:12:30 > 1:12:34Britain have won a skeleton medal in every single Winter Olympics the

1:12:34 > 1:12:42sport has been included in. Yesterday, Team GB's Dom Parsons and

1:12:42 > 1:12:46Jerry Rice got their Olympics underwear and both were very quick.

1:12:46 > 1:12:51Dom Parsons in particular sat in fourth place -- they got their

1:12:51 > 1:12:58Olympics under way. Today, they were going in their final two runs. Let's

1:12:58 > 1:13:02see how the action unfolded with our commentary team up at the Olympic

1:13:02 > 1:13:11Sliding Centre, Amy Williams, John Jackson and John Hunt.

1:13:11 > 1:13:13This career and could be a superstar. He certainly looks like

1:13:13 > 1:13:23it. -- the Korean. For sliding, what a big moment this is for Korea. No

1:13:23 > 1:13:30Asian skeleton athlete has ever won a medal in skeleton. Now watch Yun

1:13:30 > 1:13:36go. What all the times as well. He is usually electric off the blocks.

1:13:36 > 1:13:45He is slightly slower but he is under way.Slightly slow start, but

1:13:45 > 1:13:52still a fast start. Look at these lines. It is so important to get

1:13:52 > 1:13:56these first four corners, get the speed from the start. There is a big

1:13:56 > 1:14:00flat section before drops away again. Look at him go. This is how

1:14:00 > 1:14:05to slide the Pyeongchang track. That is the first mistake we have seen

1:14:05 > 1:14:13him make. Is it the difference in the icy temperatures? The sliders

1:14:13 > 1:14:19may have adjusted their equipment. Can he go under 50 seconds? Not

1:14:19 > 1:14:24quite.

1:14:26 > 1:14:29quite. With 50.18, reinforces his position as the gold medallist in

1:14:29 > 1:14:35waiting. Another wonderful run from the Korean. Currently in second

1:14:35 > 1:14:43place from the Olympic athletes of Russia team, Nikita Tregubov sets

1:14:43 > 1:14:49off in the silver medal position at the moment. He is obviously one of

1:14:49 > 1:14:53those that Dom Parsons is going to have to tussle with over the course

1:14:53 > 1:14:58of the next two runs. In Sochi, he came sixth. And he held it together

1:14:58 > 1:15:04in Sochi from start to finish.

1:15:04 > 1:15:07in Sochi from start to finish. The Koreans are in the same position as

1:15:07 > 1:15:11the Olympic athletes of Russia from four years ago. Can he hold it

1:15:11 > 1:15:17together?

1:15:17 > 1:15:27together? Just makes a little mistake.This is a good run. They

1:15:27 > 1:15:33have all improved on their runs from yesterday. Look at his body

1:15:33 > 1:15:42position, feet together. Just doing a little adjustment.

1:15:42 > 1:15:5450.5 coming he has done this all three runs, Tregubov. One of the

1:15:54 > 1:16:02greats for Latvia, Dom Parsons will follow Martins Dukurs. Silver medal

1:16:02 > 1:16:10in Sochi and Vancouver. Rubbing his hands together. Exponents of the art

1:16:10 > 1:16:16of Skeleton. In Yun, he will probably find an athlete to good to

1:16:16 > 1:16:20him. But Martins Dukurs is the last person you want to scrap out with

1:16:20 > 1:16:27four medals.Matching his start time from yesterday morning. Put down

1:16:27 > 1:16:32incredible start times, just got to hold it together now.Or not,

1:16:32 > 1:16:37hopefully. We were speaking to the Latvian media yesterday and he told

1:16:37 > 1:16:44them he had made mistakes with his set. He will have made changes. That

1:16:44 > 1:16:51is really good.He didn't have to fight it there. Maybe when we talk

1:16:51 > 1:16:57about the setup, it depends how much contact the runner has on the ice.

1:16:57 > 1:17:03The more contact, the more grip you have, but potentially you are

1:17:03 > 1:17:10slower.Martins Dukurs, into second place. A whole second of Yun, but

1:17:10 > 1:17:15just ahead of Tregubov. Martins Dukurs has done what he needed to

1:17:15 > 1:17:22do. Tregubov has dropped back to bronze medal position at the moment.

1:17:22 > 1:17:2850.4 last time which was a great step forward.A few of the Skeleton

1:17:28 > 1:17:33guys in the crowd, watching and hoping this is going to be them in a

1:17:33 > 1:17:40few years.Even if he cannot get past Martins Dukurs or Tregubov, Dom

1:17:40 > 1:17:43Parsons cannot allow the gap to grow between himself and the other two

1:17:43 > 1:17:52rivals. He is 1.4 seconds of Yun at the moment.Hasn't got quite as fast

1:17:52 > 1:17:57start, but he had incredible speed down the track. Just needs to hold

1:17:57 > 1:18:02it together and find the speed in the corners.Just looks like he is

1:18:02 > 1:18:06unsettled a little bit. Whether that is his style, but he looks a little

1:18:06 > 1:18:12bit sideways. Maybe it is working for him, but is great, he nailed

1:18:12 > 1:18:17that. He needs to find speed at the bottom, which is what he was doing

1:18:17 > 1:18:24yesterday.Needs to maintain his body position. He is two tempts off

1:18:24 > 1:18:30at the moment, needs a fast and accurate finish. Look at that! He is

1:18:30 > 1:18:36right in the mix and goes ahead of Tregubov into third place. He is

1:18:36 > 1:18:43breathing down Martins Dukurs' neck. A wonderful run from Dom Parsons

1:18:43 > 1:18:52again and he goes thirds with Thomas Ducker is to come. Now, Thomas

1:18:52 > 1:19:01Dukurs, brother of Martins Dukurs. Superb Skeleton athlete. Fourth in

1:19:01 > 1:19:07Sochi and 40 Vancouver tells you about his quality as well. They have

1:19:07 > 1:19:14been the one to watch for years. They sink and mould into their sled.

1:19:14 > 1:19:22They are good people to watch if you are a budding athlete or if you are

1:19:22 > 1:19:27on the Skeleton programme. He has got good lines so far. Is there too

1:19:27 > 1:19:33much for him to make up?I don't think he has the momentum he needs

1:19:33 > 1:19:38to pull himself up towards the Olympic athlete of Russia and Dom

1:19:38 > 1:19:43Parsons. He is dropping. Unless there are any mistakes, the top four

1:19:43 > 1:19:53are set in their positions. He could be half a second of Dom Parsons.

1:19:53 > 1:19:59Reset out with potentially four sliders going out for the medals.

1:19:59 > 1:20:06Now it looks like it is down between Martins Dukurs, Tregubov and Dom

1:20:06 > 1:20:11Parsons for the medals. The run for medals is on, Dom Parsons is in the

1:20:11 > 1:20:25bronze medal position. Yun Sungbin is almost assured of the goal. Tomas

1:20:25 > 1:20:30Dukurs, world-class, fourth in Sochi and forth in Vancouver. He now sets

1:20:30 > 1:20:38off on his way. He needs a time of nearly 50 seconds. 50.8 won't do for

1:20:38 > 1:20:46him, he needs to be electric. The Latvians haven't got to grips as we

1:20:46 > 1:20:52thought they would with this track. It is incredible to watch how they

1:20:52 > 1:20:56slide and how they are so smooth and you cannot even see them steering.

1:20:56 > 1:21:04They are putting pressure through the shoulders. Pair the line. He

1:21:04 > 1:21:10will come back fighting because he wants a medal.I don't think he will

1:21:10 > 1:21:17get it. He is quicker than Kim, but his time needs to be in the low 50s

1:21:17 > 1:21:24to put any pressure on at all. 50.6 will not cut the musters.Lets see

1:21:24 > 1:21:29what happens to the next few sliders. That was a good run from

1:21:29 > 1:21:36him. He will be happy enough, consistent times. That is Thomas

1:21:36 > 1:21:40Dukurs, who momentarily goes into the lead. But the medals will be

1:21:40 > 1:21:48sorted out by the next four people. The four times Junior champion,

1:21:48 > 1:21:54Tregubov in fourth place. This man has been so consistent. Has gone

1:21:54 > 1:22:0250.5 every run. One mistake, one mistake could be so costly. He just

1:22:02 > 1:22:07down a good start time. That is what you need on this track, get a good

1:22:07 > 1:22:13start through the first few corners and then hold it together. So far

1:22:13 > 1:22:22looking good, he is looking clean. Just starting to lose a bit of

1:22:28 > 1:22:31time on Dukurs. We need him to make a little mistake somewhere to help

1:22:31 > 1:22:45Dom Parker and -- Dom Parsons. Tregubov, did all he can. Another

1:22:45 > 1:22:5350.5. We know Dom Parsons can go quicker. Dom Parsons, next. Sit

1:22:53 > 1:23:00tight everybody, he says he thrives on the pressure. His nickname is The

1:23:00 > 1:23:05Wizard. Let's see if he can work some winter Olympic magic and get a

1:23:05 > 1:23:10medal.

1:23:10 > 1:23:15medal. If his time goes green under Tregubov's name coming he is in good

1:23:15 > 1:23:25shape. He has started off a little bit slower.Hold it together, like

1:23:25 > 1:23:30he has on the last three runs. His lines are good at the moment. We

1:23:30 > 1:23:35need him to keep it together. Now we are starting to build into the fast

1:23:35 > 1:23:42part of the track. This corner is the key. The little tap, has it got

1:23:42 > 1:23:47enough pace? This will be key as we come down the track. Is this the run

1:23:47 > 1:23:52that will get great Britain their first Olympic medal of these Winter

1:23:52 > 1:24:07Olympics?He is in front in a Tregubov. No!What? He misses out by

1:24:07 > 1:24:16of a second. Tregubov is celebrating a guaranteed medal. Dom Parsons made

1:24:16 > 1:24:23just missile. Oh my word.He knows he has missed it.These two sliders

1:24:23 > 1:24:30have just put a lot of pressure on this man.Martins Dukurs, started in

1:24:30 > 1:24:38second place. He was only just in front of Dom Parsons. If Martins

1:24:38 > 1:24:43Dukurs makes a mistake, Dom Parsons might be back in the medals. We need

1:24:43 > 1:24:51a mistake from Dukurs but he has produced many of those. That was a

1:24:51 > 1:24:58big mistake! Is he now able to keep at the time or is he also going to

1:24:58 > 1:25:04drop vital split seconds down this track? He has made two mistakes at

1:25:04 > 1:25:12the top of the track. The time is starting to ebb away. This is where

1:25:12 > 1:25:20Dukurs might lose the speed. He is in the red. How far is he going to

1:25:20 > 1:25:30drop? Yes!He is behind Dom Parsons and Dom Parsons has unbelievably got

1:25:30 > 1:25:40his medal.Come on, Great Britain! Dom Parsons has a bronze medal

1:25:40 > 1:25:45because of Martins Dukurs, the great Latvian unable to hold it together.

1:25:45 > 1:25:50From abject misery for Dom Parsons, delight for him. Dukurs now feels

1:25:50 > 1:25:57the pain, he misses out. Martins Dukurs was a five-time world

1:25:57 > 1:26:02champion and he has just blown it to give Dom Parsons the bronze medal.

1:26:02 > 1:26:09Settle back now and enjoy what we think will be the gold

1:26:09 > 1:26:13think will be the gold performance from Yun Sungbin of Korea. One safe

1:26:13 > 1:26:19run will see him reach the gold medal here and put Korea and Asia on

1:26:19 > 1:26:23the map for the first time in Skeleton. No Asian athlete has ever

1:26:23 > 1:26:30won a medal. Yun, seconds away from the goal. This is a victory lap for

1:26:30 > 1:26:36him, he is so far ahead. He has been the quality act at the Sliding

1:26:36 > 1:26:41Centre so far. The home crowd will go wild at the bottom. He has got to

1:26:41 > 1:26:49hold it together. 1.5 seconds. He has got to stay on his sled, the

1:26:49 > 1:26:58last two corners. An incredible athlete, Yun is a superstar in Korea

1:26:58 > 1:27:02and is coasting to gold. He has won by the biggest margin in history.

1:27:02 > 1:27:09But track record. 1.3 is six seconds.

1:27:10 > 1:27:16seconds. -- 1.36 seconds. What an athlete.What a race, what an

1:27:16 > 1:27:19athlete, smashed it. Most importantly we have a bronze medal

1:27:19 > 1:27:27for Great Britain by Dom Parsons. The camp is going to be ecstatic.

1:27:27 > 1:27:32What a way to have these games and have Dom Parsons doing his best. His

1:27:32 > 1:27:36aim was to get a medal, no one thought it was possible, but he has

1:27:36 > 1:27:41loved this track from the moment he arrived, from the moment Olympics

1:27:41 > 1:27:49started.The place for Great Britain. What a thrilling climax.

1:27:51 > 1:27:56Dom Parsons, The Wizard delivered his magic. Albeit with a bit of help

1:27:56 > 1:28:03by Martins Dukurs' mistakes. Dom Parsons can cherish, aged 30, a

1:28:03 > 1:28:08bronze medal at his second Olympic Games.

1:28:08 > 1:28:14Congratulations. Thank you.Bronze medallist at the Olympic Games,

1:28:14 > 1:28:24first mother lit but at Pyeongchang, first men's medal in history, what

1:28:24 > 1:28:29is your reaction?It hasn't sunk in, I thought I had lost it. I thought

1:28:29 > 1:28:35it had gone away. I looked up at the time and I made a couple of mistakes

1:28:35 > 1:28:40in that run.

1:28:41 > 1:28:45in that run. But Martins Dukurs made more mistakes. You have been mixing

1:28:45 > 1:28:50it with the best in the sport and going toe to toe with them, you must

1:28:50 > 1:28:57feel fantastic?Yes, all the work we have put in, has paid off. The

1:28:57 > 1:29:02federation, friends and family, even people playing the National Lottery,

1:29:02 > 1:29:06where the funding comes from, thank you to them.Incredible scenes at

1:29:06 > 1:29:09the Sliding Centre, huge celebrations, first of all for South

1:29:09 > 1:29:15Korea, winning the gold medal. But Team GB, our first medal in these

1:29:15 > 1:29:23games at Pyeongchang from Dom Parker ins -- Dom Parsons. Amy

1:29:23 > 1:29:26games at Pyeongchang from Dom Parker ins -- Dom Parsons. Amy Williams was

1:29:26 > 1:29:30commentating, it is not quite so warm down here off the balcony, but

1:29:30 > 1:29:35thank you for joining us. Amy, how proud are you of those two boys

1:29:35 > 1:29:40today?I feel like their big sister and to watch both of them come up

1:29:40 > 1:29:44through the ranks, through Great Britain to be here at the Olympics.

1:29:44 > 1:29:53Jerry Rice, in his first Olympics, getting into the top ten. And Dom,

1:29:53 > 1:30:02bringing home a bronze medal. He was enjoying himself, he was loving it.

1:30:02 > 1:30:08The result follow. How impressed by you of the mental side of it that

1:30:08 > 1:30:11Dom show to be in the mix for a medal overnight to go away and there

1:30:11 > 1:30:14you have to come back the next day and go that little bit faster and

1:30:14 > 1:30:20you could go home with the first Olympic medal? He showed he was calm

1:30:20 > 1:30:25and collected. He has looked so in control and almost relaxed and just

1:30:25 > 1:30:29enjoying it. I think that is one of his strengths, he thinks things

1:30:29 > 1:30:33through so well, he doesn't get flustered by anything.

1:30:33 > 1:30:35through so well, he doesn't get flustered by anything. I think he

1:30:35 > 1:30:39thought at first he had lost the medal, but then obviously when the

1:30:39 > 1:30:43Latvian came down just behind him, you could see the relief and the

1:30:43 > 1:30:51complete joy in his face when he realised he was a bronze medallists.

1:30:51 > 1:30:56Check Amy, when you won your medal, you were leaving. How difficult is

1:30:56 > 1:31:01it to stay calm?It's a psychological battle. I had to just

1:31:01 > 1:31:08not think about it. I was like, OK, I'm in first place, but it's done. I

1:31:08 > 1:31:12have to prepare in the same way, eat the same breakfast and do the same

1:31:12 > 1:31:17things. You are always taught to only think of the process goals,

1:31:17 > 1:31:24don't think of the outcome goals. If you think, I could win a medal,

1:31:24 > 1:31:28don't. You have just got to pop down the same solid runs, and that was

1:31:28 > 1:31:34what Dom did.How big a part does the team play for both Dom and Jerry

1:31:34 > 1:31:41today? Trying to keep everything normal, how big a part does the team

1:31:41 > 1:31:46play?It's a massive part of it. With the results today, that will

1:31:46 > 1:31:52give the wider GB team a boost as well. Overnight, it's all about the

1:31:52 > 1:31:57training runs. They were coming into it with confidence, and so are the

1:31:57 > 1:32:01women tonight. It will be a great boost to the team, especially if we

1:32:01 > 1:32:07see more medals tomorrow from both skeleton women. The skeleton women,

1:32:07 > 1:32:11yeah. Lizzy Yarnold is the one with a target on her back. She has a

1:32:11 > 1:32:16title to defend and there is huge expectation for her. And Laura Deas

1:32:16 > 1:32:23is going quick as well.

1:32:23 > 1:32:26is going quick as well. Lizzie wants that next gold medal, and Laura is

1:32:26 > 1:32:30the underdog that no one is talking about. But we are just starting to.

1:32:30 > 1:32:35Don't ever rule out a Laura! She has an incredible start time, which is

1:32:35 > 1:32:40what you need on this track. Both of them have put down the fastest runs

1:32:40 > 1:32:45in training. Like Dom, they love the track. We saw Laura last night in

1:32:45 > 1:32:51the restaurant and I had to say, good luck. Have fun out there. You

1:32:51 > 1:32:55race well when you are having fun. The team around them are confident

1:32:55 > 1:33:03and they are all in a good place. Exciting stuff. And today we will

1:33:03 > 1:33:09have the girls racing later tonight with their first two runs. Lizzy

1:33:09 > 1:33:13Yarnold is the Olympic champion, but Laura Deas is also going quick. Have

1:33:13 > 1:33:21they peaked at the right time? You can catch them at 11.20 with their

1:33:21 > 1:33:24first two runs. Now, it's been great to see some of these athletes

1:33:24 > 1:33:30showcase their sports at the highest level. Some of them, I am happy

1:33:30 > 1:33:34never trying, namely the ski jump, but perhaps you are more of a

1:33:34 > 1:33:37daredevil or perhaps you fancy something more graceful like the

1:33:37 > 1:33:40figure skating. Whatever has inspired you at these Winter

1:33:40 > 1:33:48Olympics, it's time to grasp the moment and give it a go.

1:33:48 > 1:33:50moment and give it a go. Everybody has to start somewhere. BBC Get

1:33:50 > 1:33:58Inspired will help you to get involved and get active.

1:34:10 > 1:34:15start?

1:34:20 > 1:34:24This is going to be awesome. Lindsey Jacobellis, extending her lead at

1:34:24 > 1:34:30the early stage of this course. This is a lap of honour for Lindsey

1:34:30 > 1:34:38Jacobellis. Micro O, drama! Jacobellis is down! Look at her!

1:34:38 > 1:34:40This is incredible, Frieden! Lindsey Jacobellis has thrown the gold medal

1:34:40 > 1:34:51away in the last 100m. This is ridiculous! The drama of the

1:34:51 > 1:34:54snowboard cross. That was Lindsey Jacobellis. She is the world

1:34:54 > 1:35:01champion. She has won gold in 15 of the last 16 seasons in either World

1:35:01 > 1:35:04Cup, World Championships or X Games championships, but as we have just

1:35:04 > 1:35:08seen, the Olympic Games have not been her friend. That was 2006, the

1:35:08 > 1:35:12gold medal in her grasp, but a bit of showboating of the final dump and

1:35:12 > 1:35:17she had to settle for silver. 20:2014, both times she went out at

1:35:17 > 1:35:22the semifinals and a 32 years old, you would have to say it is now or

1:35:22 > 1:35:25never for the American. Let's see what drama unfolded up at the

1:35:25 > 1:35:28Phoenix Snow Park as we ran through the semifinals and final that took

1:35:28 > 1:35:34place earlier today with Tim Warwood and Ed Leigh.

1:35:41 > 1:35:49They await starters' orders. This could go any way.Any way. They are

1:35:49 > 1:36:01all very quick. They are all neck and neck area. On the outside as the

1:36:01 > 1:36:0716-year-old Frenchwoman, who may have the lead! But it is Moiola and

1:36:07 > 1:36:15Jacobellis?Yes, Jacobellis. Jacobellis is out in front. She

1:36:15 > 1:36:29needs to hang on in front, but Moioli has been very fast.

1:36:29 > 1:36:32Moioli has been very fast.Moioli cuts out in front. And our

1:36:32 > 1:36:38back-to-back. Moioli moves ahead of her, Jacobellis now in the fight of

1:36:38 > 1:36:49her life. She once this gold. She slotted behind Chloe Trespeuch.

1:36:49 > 1:36:58Moioli is so fast. She has five World Cups under her belt.Look at

1:36:58 > 1:37:07the youngster! It is neck and neck for silver and bronze! They are all

1:37:07 > 1:37:12down, it's all over the place! No doubting who took the gold. It's

1:37:12 > 1:37:18Michela Moioli.

1:37:19 > 1:37:21Michela Moioli. Look at them, they have given everything they have got

1:37:21 > 1:37:33to this course. Trespeuch, Jacobellis. None of them know,

1:37:33 > 1:37:41Moioli limping, but celebrating. That was as intense as sport gets.

1:37:41 > 1:37:45Wow. Unbelievable final section. Chloe Trespeuch over jump to the

1:37:45 > 1:37:50bottom jump, took herself out. She couldn't hang onto the landing. We

1:37:50 > 1:37:57are still waiting for the official results.I think it is Samkova in

1:37:57 > 1:38:03third.

1:38:03 > 1:38:09third. Jacobellis, again missing out on the medals.

1:38:10 > 1:38:20on the medals. All they will give us is the winner at this stage.

1:38:20 > 1:38:24Trespeuch congratulating Michela Moioli. Certainly a popular choice.

1:38:24 > 1:38:33Second place is De Sousa Mabileau. A silver medal for the 16-year-old.

1:38:33 > 1:38:41She is in tears. What a race!

1:38:41 > 1:38:42She is in tears. What a race! And Samkova is confirmed as the bronze

1:38:42 > 1:38:50medal. One of the closest races not just in Olympic women's snowboard

1:38:50 > 1:38:58cross a story, but of all time. Lescott the beginning. Six brilliant

1:38:58 > 1:39:04starts. There was nothing to choose. The noses of every board crossed the

1:39:04 > 1:39:13line. There was nothing between them. Jacobellis here tucks up

1:39:13 > 1:39:24early. Her inertia gets her in

1:39:24 > 1:39:30early. Her inertia gets her in front of De Sousa Mabileau.

1:39:30 > 1:39:35of De Sousa Mabileau. You get a brilliant idea of how tight this

1:39:35 > 1:39:45racing is.

1:39:51 > 1:39:57Trespeuch a second here and Mabileau De Sousa in fourth. Jacobellis in

1:39:57 > 1:40:05third, and she lost. She just didn't have the gliding speed to keep up

1:40:05 > 1:40:14with Michela Moioli. At this point, she is in fourth place. The

1:40:14 > 1:40:21youngster was perfect.Trespeuch let her through.This is the bottom

1:40:21 > 1:40:28jump. Oh, my goodness, Trespeuch! There is nothing between Jacobellis

1:40:28 > 1:40:37and Samkova there.

1:40:37 > 1:40:45and Samkova there. Ooh!Samkova at the top, Jacobellis at the bottom

1:40:45 > 1:40:55for third. Goodness gracious, what a final. Thank you, boardercross!

1:40:55 > 1:41:02Snowboard cross once again delivers in dramatic style.

1:41:02 > 1:41:07STUDIO: I love the snowboard cross, absolute drama. We will be back at

1:41:07 > 1:41:13the Snow Park tomorrow for the women's skiing slopestyle. GB's

1:41:13 > 1:41:19Katie Summerhays and Izzy Atkin are both in the field. That will be

1:41:19 > 1:41:23tomorrow morning from one o'clock. To more fast and frantic stuff, this

1:41:23 > 1:41:29time on the ice in the ice hockey, the second round of matches in group

1:41:29 > 1:41:32B getting under way today. There are no NHL players in Pyeongchang this

1:41:32 > 1:41:36year because of a problem between the NHL and the Olympics. So the

1:41:36 > 1:41:41best players in the world are not here, but that does mean the field

1:41:41 > 1:41:46is wide open. There were a couple of surprises in the first matches in

1:41:46 > 1:41:51this group. But the USA and the Olympic Athletes from Russia lost

1:41:51 > 1:41:54their opening matches, so the Olympic Athletes from Russia are

1:41:54 > 1:41:58looking to bounce back today when they take on Slovenia. Let's head to

1:41:58 > 1:42:03the ice arena with your commentators.

1:42:03 > 1:42:06This is an early chance for the Russians to try and get this in on

1:42:06 > 1:42:16goal. Seeking redemption in so many ways. Untearable Olympic Games in

1:42:16 > 1:42:18Sochi -- a terrible Olympic Games in Sochi, and then all the problems

1:42:18 > 1:42:24that came afterwards. They are now representing as the Olympic Athletes

1:42:24 > 1:42:30from Russia. But in the first game, things went in a very similar way to

1:42:30 > 1:42:33their previous campaign at the Olympics, where they were just so

1:42:33 > 1:42:41far from being their best. They had a 2-goal lead, but were eventually

1:42:41 > 1:42:54beaten by Slovakia. They can't afford another slow day.

1:42:54 > 1:42:58afford another slow day. The familiar red shirts of the old Red

1:42:58 > 1:43:04Army are very much in effect in this game. Russia desperately need to get

1:43:04 > 1:43:09themselves on the board. There will not be eliminated with defeat here,

1:43:09 > 1:43:13but victory would set them up for a final group game which could prove

1:43:13 > 1:43:22to be very helpful to them later in the tournament.

1:43:22 > 1:43:28the tournament. Good defensive play by the Slovenians, doing what they

1:43:28 > 1:43:42needed to do to take possession away. OAR have it in their own zone.

1:44:10 > 1:44:12The Olympic Athletes from Russia have possession back. Alongside me

1:44:12 > 1:44:18is the former team Canada forward Kent Simpson. How important it is

1:44:18 > 1:44:21game for the Russians? It is massive. They got help today when

1:44:21 > 1:44:28the USA were able to knock out Slovakia. So a win for the OAR would

1:44:28 > 1:44:36put them right back at the top of the group B standings.

1:44:36 > 1:44:39the group B standings. This group is wide open. Nobody anticipated what

1:44:39 > 1:44:42would happen earlier in the competition with defeats the USA and

1:44:42 > 1:44:53Russia. The Slovenians in white move this one down the ice.

1:45:01 > 1:45:08Taken out pretty hard on the boards.

1:45:08 > 1:45:17Russia will come back into the offensive zone. It was a wonderful

1:45:17 > 1:45:24pass.

1:45:24 > 1:45:46pass. Fighting hard to win it back. Hard pass to the top. Off the post.

1:45:46 > 1:45:56Wasn't a hard shot, just worked towards the net.

1:45:56 > 1:46:03towards the net. That is a decent save. That was some shift from the

1:46:03 > 1:46:14OAR.Terrific display of skill from the Russian athletes. So much poise

1:46:14 > 1:46:20and vision from Datsyuk.

1:46:20 > 1:46:26and vision from Datsyuk.Strong play.

1:46:42 > 1:46:48Goalless, five minutes and 34 seconds in.Really good start from

1:46:48 > 1:46:50the Olympic Athletes from Russia. But you'll only have to go back a

1:46:50 > 1:46:56couple of days ago to see the start they had against Slovakia. Playing

1:46:56 > 1:47:12the body. This short side shot of the stick of Gusev.

1:47:12 > 1:47:19the stick of Gusev. The mindset of the Russian team really needs to be

1:47:19 > 1:47:25to get a goal early and leave no doubt, they are the superior. They

1:47:25 > 1:47:29let the Slovakian team hang around too long and then it was too late.

1:47:29 > 1:47:34Slovakia found a sense of belief realising they could play with the

1:47:34 > 1:47:41lar team. See how this transpires over the next few minutes of play.

1:47:41 > 1:47:46Let's make no mistake, the nation of Russia expects. They may not be

1:47:46 > 1:47:51wearing the Russian flag, but from the president down, the viewpoint

1:47:51 > 1:47:56is, this team should win the gold medal. And if they don't, then they

1:47:56 > 1:48:02will be disappointed and I will be inquests and postmortems on the

1:48:02 > 1:48:09first performance and

1:48:09 > 1:48:11first performance and the first defeat to Slovakia. The players will

1:48:11 > 1:48:19be feeling the pressure, even though it is thousands of miles away.

1:48:33 > 1:48:48Lifted away by Slavonia. Vladislav Gavrikov comes in.This is lazy play

1:48:48 > 1:48:55by the Russian athlete. He was deep inside Slovenia's zone. Puck came

1:48:55 > 1:49:02out. It came across the blue line but the Russian forward was lazy in

1:49:02 > 1:49:09coming out and that is why it is offside. The women's team,

1:49:09 > 1:49:16supporting their male counterparts. Interesting wording on the front of

1:49:16 > 1:49:23those jackets. All it says is player. Nondescript, the Olympic

1:49:23 > 1:49:27Athletes from Russia, not allowed to display any flags like those. No

1:49:27 > 1:49:32such restrictions in the stands, flags aplenty, whether it is the

1:49:32 > 1:49:38hearts or the flags on the faces. Not every person partaking in that.

1:49:38 > 1:49:45Some are little cooler in this building than others.

1:49:45 > 1:49:48building than others.Russia certainly had the majority of the

1:49:48 > 1:49:53possession early on, but not a whole lot of shots to account for. One of

1:49:53 > 1:50:07the posts of Gusev. But no good scoring chances.

1:50:12 > 1:50:27Dumping and chasing. They look good when they do this, Ticar was back in

1:50:27 > 1:50:34possession again. The Russians will bring it away. Good save.

1:50:35 > 1:50:41bring it away. Good save. Get the left had down quickly. That this

1:50:41 > 1:50:51prime shooting position from the LA are sniper.

1:51:03 > 1:51:07The net keeper tuck away this shooting angle and made a great

1:51:07 > 1:51:12save.

1:51:12 > 1:51:25save.Good save! He closed the gap brilliantly and in

1:51:28 > 1:51:31brilliantly and in the end, Kirill Kaprizov couldn't find the net. He

1:51:31 > 1:51:39might not get as good a chance as that again. That was a backhand

1:51:39 > 1:51:43effort from Datsyuk. Goes over the top. Slovenia, lived to fight

1:51:43 > 1:51:46another day.

1:51:50 > 1:51:55Given away by the Olympic Athletes from Russia. Driving hard into the

1:51:55 > 1:52:09zone. Luka Vidmar. He will get some help now.

1:52:11 > 1:52:29The chase is on. Lots of pressure coming in.

1:52:30 > 1:52:34Ales Music, good possession from him. That was close to a penalty.

1:52:34 > 1:52:42Very close. The first sustained pressure from Slovenia. Just one

1:52:42 > 1:52:47shot to account for it, but a really nice job getting up the eyes in a

1:52:47 > 1:52:57hurry. -- ice.Slovenia, not overwrought by the occasion, playing

1:52:57 > 1:53:03in their second Olympic Games. Look at their strength on the boards. Now

1:53:03 > 1:53:09they are looking to create something here. Great strength from Jan

1:53:09 > 1:53:19Mursak. The hero, the goal-scorer for this Slavonia and team. They

1:53:19 > 1:53:23captured the imagination of the nation in Sochi. Then comes another

1:53:23 > 1:53:37shot, goes well wide of the target. The big hit was coming.

1:53:37 > 1:53:44The big hit was coming. Twisting and turning.

1:53:45 > 1:53:51turning. Trying to set something up here, Vladislav Gavrikov. Good

1:53:51 > 1:54:00defensive play. The danger isn't cleared. The Russians are back in

1:54:00 > 1:54:06possession and trying to find a way through.

1:54:08 > 1:54:15through. Finally, the release valve. Chance to get it forward.

1:54:15 > 1:54:23Chance to get it forward. Robert Sabolic, taken down.

1:54:28 > 1:54:32Bit of fortune for Slovenia as they get this away and break into the

1:54:32 > 1:54:37offensive zone. Now with some speed, what can be work from the side of

1:54:37 > 1:54:45the net? Everybody will have to get out from a Slovenian perspective.

1:54:45 > 1:54:54Backwards, they go. Quick line change. One thing that has been

1:54:54 > 1:54:58common throughout these games early on in the men's tournament is the

1:54:58 > 1:55:06pace of play. Everyone on the ice, such terrific skaters. This could be

1:55:06 > 1:55:16danger.

1:55:16 > 1:55:22danger. Forgot to take the puck with him.

1:55:23 > 1:55:29him. Good work from Slovenia. The support systems are really good. You

1:55:29 > 1:55:34typically have two B two, if not three players when you bring the

1:55:34 > 1:55:42puck from your into the attacking end. This has been a lightening

1:55:42 > 1:55:48quick 12 minutes. There has barely been a whistle. This is an

1:55:48 > 1:55:59opportunity. Into the body. Held onto.

1:56:01 > 1:56:06Vasily Chris check skin. We get a break in play and for the players to

1:56:06 > 1:56:14have a breather.Surprise

1:56:14 > 1:56:16have a breather.Surprise start the Vasily Koshechkin. I thought he was

1:56:16 > 1:56:23weak with the goals he let in from Slovakia. Getting another chance, he

1:56:23 > 1:56:31stands six feet seven. This is a look at the best chance. Right in

1:56:31 > 1:56:41front was Kirill Kaprizov. I like the line adjustments the head coach

1:56:41 > 1:56:52Oleg Znarok has made, from the Russian team.

1:56:52 > 1:56:58Russian team. Nikita Gusev has been really good.

1:56:58 > 1:57:11really good. In the opening game we saw Datsyuk in the same line. The

1:57:11 > 1:57:17head coach wants to juggle them up a little bit.So far, so good.

1:57:17 > 1:57:25Slovenia with it deep in the zone, trying to find something here.

1:57:27 > 1:57:28trying to find something here. Into the offensive zone, with a bit of

1:57:28 > 1:57:41speed. Read down to the side of the net. They have got to be careful.

1:57:45 > 1:57:57The rebound popped out again. The red tide is coming. The rebound is

1:57:57 > 1:58:04falling into great areas. Finally, Slovenia, just about, will get this

1:58:04 > 1:58:09one clear.

1:58:09 > 1:58:12one clear. They will go for a big change. The defensive line is

1:58:12 > 1:58:20shattered.Wonderful shift from the Olympic Athletes from Russia. You

1:58:20 > 1:58:24get a sense of the strength of these Olympic athletes. How strong they

1:58:24 > 1:58:31are. Most hockey players, their legs are very strong and they have a low

1:58:31 > 1:58:40centre of gravity.Break into the zone from Slovenia. Good linking

1:58:40 > 1:58:46play from Marcel Rodman. Now it goes back the other way. It is a good

1:58:46 > 1:58:50reach and a good clear.

1:59:01 > 1:59:08Pushed forward down the eyes. Slovenia will get there first. Late

1:59:08 > 1:59:13hit on the play. No penalty called. Immediately, they go back the other

1:59:13 > 1:59:22way.

1:59:22 > 1:59:33way. Great clearing play. Should be cleared

1:59:42 > 1:59:48Slovenia, finding the quiet area, settling things now.It has been a

1:59:48 > 1:59:56frenetic pace.The speed from out wide.

1:59:56 > 2:00:01wide. Back to the blue line. Space is opening up for Slovenia. The

2:00:01 > 2:00:05Russians just letting them have that. It sat there for a moment,

2:00:05 > 2:00:17right in front.

2:00:17 > 2:00:22right in front. Another quick opportunity. In many respects, this

2:00:22 > 2:00:27is more wide-open than some of The Games we have seen. Both teams are

2:00:27 > 2:00:31getting opportunities every time they rush the puck into the zone.

2:00:31 > 2:00:41Maybe not grade a scoring chances, but certainly good one.

2:00:46 > 2:01:03Rebound. Another opportunity comes again.

2:01:05 > 2:01:16Sergei Mozyakin is a legend in Russia.He is indeed.

2:01:18 > 2:01:19Russia.He is indeed. The Russians are trying to put the pressure on

2:01:19 > 2:01:29here. Slovenia will batter it out of the zone. There could be a bit of

2:01:29 > 2:01:51danger here. That is a huge hit. More good digging work.

2:01:51 > 2:01:58More good digging work. That was nearly a very bad giveaway. Pretty

2:01:58 > 2:02:04physical game. Maybe this is the opportunity for the Russians to get

2:02:04 > 2:02:15something in on goal.

2:02:18 > 2:02:30Ten shots now coming Luka Gracnar's way. Two of them have been good

2:02:30 > 2:02:35scoring chances.

2:02:37 > 2:02:38scoring chances. You see the wraparound attempt. The rebound was

2:02:38 > 2:02:45there for the taking. It just bounced over the stick of Shirokov.

2:02:45 > 2:02:56Over the last couple of decades... Great Britain have played Slovenia

2:02:56 > 2:03:06an awful lot. This has been a physical game. For those fans who

2:03:06 > 2:03:10are hoping that one day Great Britain will get an Olympic Games,

2:03:10 > 2:03:14Slovenia are potentially one of the nations that Great Britain could

2:03:14 > 2:03:18have a look at. They don't have many ice rinks or registered players. In

2:03:18 > 2:03:26Sochi four years ago, one in four of their registered players in the

2:03:26 > 2:03:29country were playing for the national team at an Olympic Games,

2:03:29 > 2:03:33which is a remarkable stat and is probably an accurate figure of the

2:03:33 > 2:03:38number of adults playing ice hockey. It gives you an idea of how you can

2:03:38 > 2:03:44convert talent to play at the highest level. So much talk about no

2:03:44 > 2:03:51NHL players at these Olympics. It really doesn't impact Slovenia. In

2:03:51 > 2:03:55Sochi, they have a player from the NHL and maybe one other player. So

2:03:55 > 2:04:00what you are seeing here, 90% of the Slovenia team would be here no

2:04:00 > 2:04:05matter what.

2:04:21 > 2:04:32Jan Mursak has been so good.

2:04:37 > 2:04:40Slovenia have a very pragmatic approach. We have a penalty coming

2:04:40 > 2:04:47here. It is a high stick. They are just checking to see if there is any

2:04:47 > 2:04:56blood. That is because the penalty would double. If there is blood on

2:04:56 > 2:05:05an accidental high stick, you get a two plus two penalty.

2:05:10 > 2:05:13STUDIO: Apologist believing that slightly early, but we have some

2:05:13 > 2:05:19very special guests -- apologies. We have Olympic medallist Dom Parsons

2:05:19 > 2:05:24and Jerry Rice, fresh from their skeletons excess this morning. Dom,

2:05:24 > 2:05:30Olympic medallist sounds good, doesn't it?It does. Feels like I am

2:05:30 > 2:05:34in a dream. How does it feel to stand on the podium? Unlike you,

2:05:34 > 2:05:39most of us will never have that moment. I was in a bit of days while

2:05:39 > 2:05:46was going on. Hopefully, I will be more within it when we have the

2:05:46 > 2:05:53ceremony later. I was just trying to process what had happened. Jerry, I

2:05:53 > 2:06:00know you came into this game hoping for top ten. But to have achieved it

2:06:00 > 2:06:06is sensational. It feels amazing. I feel like we both turned up today.

2:06:06 > 2:06:13It couldn't have gone better. I'm over the moon for Dom and I am so

2:06:13 > 2:06:18pleased with my result. You have both been tearing it up in training

2:06:18 > 2:06:22ahead of the metal ones. You seemed to bond with the course quickly. Why

2:06:22 > 2:06:28was that? That is due to the last four years of work that we have put

2:06:28 > 2:06:37in. Our coaches are awesome. Chris, who started me off by telling me I

2:06:37 > 2:06:42needed to track walk all the time, who coached me in Sochi, and since

2:06:42 > 2:06:50then we have had another incredible courage. -- an incredible coach.

2:06:50 > 2:06:56Most of the World Cup races for the last four years, I have been there

2:06:56 > 2:06:59when everyone has been going on, and I have walked down the track again

2:06:59 > 2:07:04and gone over the feelings and how the ice looks. And that was also the

2:07:04 > 2:07:07one we came here, I could look at the ice and predict how everything

2:07:07 > 2:07:14would feel and get to know the track quicker. It just shows that hard

2:07:14 > 2:07:19work pays off. Talk me through last night. You both put in some good

2:07:19 > 2:07:26runs yesterday. You're both sitting in good positions. You knew you

2:07:26 > 2:07:30could be in with a medal and you knew you could be in for a top ten

2:07:30 > 2:07:36place. What do you do the night before?Normal stuff, really. We

2:07:36 > 2:07:42both just wanted to get to bed early. I'm a bit of a snorer, so Dom

2:07:42 > 2:07:44did his normal routine, got his headphones and earplugs ready to

2:07:44 > 2:07:50block me out!We had Jack Thomas in earlier and he did mention that you

2:07:50 > 2:07:57were a snorer.It's getting louder as the games are going on.It was

2:07:57 > 2:08:00just a normal evening for both of us. The environment among the teams

2:08:00 > 2:08:07has been really relaxed, strangely relaxed, to be honest. Everyone has

2:08:07 > 2:08:10been chilled out because we felt so prepared for everything. I slept

2:08:10 > 2:08:18like a baby.Yeah, I heard him!So you didn't get quite such good

2:08:18 > 2:08:24sleep. People like Jack have their eyes set four years down the line at

2:08:24 > 2:08:28a Winter Olympics, but for people taking up the sport, you are now an

2:08:28 > 2:08:33inspiration. Can you take yourself out of this moment and see the

2:08:33 > 2:08:39bigger picture?Yeah. It's great to be an ambassador for the sport. I

2:08:39 > 2:08:45have been here for ten years and busting a gut trying to make it to

2:08:45 > 2:08:50the podium.

2:08:50 > 2:08:53the podium. You don't normally think of trying skeleton, but it's a great

2:08:53 > 2:08:58sport to do and it has been a fun obsession for the last ten years.

2:08:58 > 2:09:02And one for the boys as well. The girls have been picking them up, but

2:09:02 > 2:09:07now you have got one back.I have been asked when the boys were going

2:09:07 > 2:09:11to get a medal. Hopefully, we will get a couple more for the girls this

2:09:11 > 2:09:17evening.Will you be watching them? I will be screaming at the top of my

2:09:17 > 2:09:24voice. I can't wait to see them go. It feels good to be done. Once the

2:09:24 > 2:09:27girls have got it done with tomorrow evening, then it will really feel

2:09:27 > 2:09:34like job done.Hopefully, we will be celebrating more medals.

2:09:34 > 2:09:40Congratulations to both of you. Your job is done. The girls are coming up

2:09:40 > 2:09:44and latest day, you can watch their first two runs lie. Aksel Lund

2:09:44 > 2:09:49Svindal made history yesterday in the downhill. At 35, he became the

2:09:49 > 2:09:52oldest gold medallist in the men's downhill. He has had terrible

2:09:52 > 2:09:58injuries over the years. He was back on the snow today in the Super-G.

2:09:58 > 2:10:03Like the downhill, it is one run down the mountain, a shorter course

2:10:03 > 2:10:07but with more twists and turns. Norway have won gold in five of the

2:10:07 > 2:10:11last eight Winter Olympics where it has been included. Who would reign

2:10:11 > 2:10:17supreme? Lights find out with Matt Chilton.

2:10:17 > 2:10:26The 2018 Olympic men's Super-G is under way. First Austrian on the

2:10:26 > 2:10:33course. The first two men down where the Italian and the Swiss man, who

2:10:33 > 2:10:40failed to finish. The thing with Super-G is, you want to be able to

2:10:40 > 2:10:45get exactly the right line. If you set up too much from behind, you are

2:10:45 > 2:10:48skiing a longer distance. You will be safe, but you are not carrying

2:10:48 > 2:10:53speed, so you want to cut off the corners to the maximum, but cut them

2:10:53 > 2:10:58off too much and get the direction wrong and you will go out. That is

2:10:58 > 2:11:07what the first two racers did. He is heading towards the paradise turned

2:11:07 > 2:11:11in the downhill and towards the blue Dragon Valley. Safely through that

2:11:11 > 2:11:16section. Coming out of this valley was what caused the other skier

2:11:16 > 2:11:25problems.That was a better line. The lessons have been learned from

2:11:25 > 2:11:29the first two who failed to finish. Kriechmayr is the third ranked on

2:11:29 > 2:11:38this season long campaign. His win came in Colorado at the tail end of

2:11:38 > 2:11:50November. Now, makes the last term and leads the Olympic Super-G.

2:11:50 > 2:11:53and leads the Olympic Super-G. The first man to complete the course.

2:11:53 > 2:12:04Kriechmayr leads the way. That is a good run from the Austrian.

2:12:05 > 2:12:09good run from the Austrian.Jansud was the silver medallist behind

2:12:09 > 2:12:12team-mate Aksel Lund Svindal 24 hours ago in the men's downhill in

2:12:12 > 2:12:19Pyeongchang. Can he turn that silver into gold and successfully defend

2:12:19 > 2:12:25his Olympic Super-G Crown? He was great on the top part of the course

2:12:25 > 2:12:29yesterday in the downhill and for me, he's the favourite in this

2:12:29 > 2:12:36competition. He has better CBG skills -- better Super-G skills than

2:12:36 > 2:12:43Svindal.

2:12:43 > 2:12:54Svindal. This is great from Jansrud. What a jump, incredible landing.

2:12:54 > 2:12:57What a jump, incredible landing. He is half a second in front. He wants

2:12:57 > 2:13:02the gold again.

2:13:02 > 2:13:12the gold again. He got the line perfect. That is that in ideal

2:13:12 > 2:13:20situation with Super-G.

2:13:20 > 2:13:23situation with Super-G.His fellow Norwegian won the Super-G title two

2:13:23 > 2:13:31games in a row, salt lake 2002 and Turin in 2006. Can Jansrud repeat

2:13:31 > 2:13:41that feat? He is into gold again. Jansrud leads the way.

2:13:45 > 2:13:47Jansrud leads the way. Racer number nine, Aksel Lund Svindal, looking

2:13:47 > 2:13:53for the double.

2:13:55 > 2:13:59for the double. Now he is going for the speed doubles as he sets off in

2:13:59 > 2:14:06pursuit of the Super-G title. It's never been done before. The American

2:14:06 > 2:14:11came close in 1992.

2:14:13 > 2:14:17came close in 1992. No one has ever struck gold twice. Could Svindal be

2:14:17 > 2:14:24the first to do the bid golden double?Straight through a control

2:14:24 > 2:14:31gate there. That is going to hurt. It's a scrappy run from Svindal.

2:14:31 > 2:14:40This is where he was so good on the lower part of the course yesterday.

2:14:40 > 2:14:46Now he trails Jansrud. It is going to require a miracle finish from

2:14:46 > 2:14:51Aksel Lund Svindal to surpass the time set by his friend and

2:14:51 > 2:15:01team-mate.

2:15:01 > 2:15:08team-mate.He could still slip into silver, though.

2:15:08 > 2:15:14silver, though. Svindal flies the final jump. He has finished in

2:15:14 > 2:15:22silver, despite almost tripping up. That was a heart stopping moment at

2:15:22 > 2:15:32the base of the mountain.

2:15:32 > 2:15:33the base of the mountain. Now, Giezendanner is on his way for

2:15:33 > 2:15:38France.

2:15:43 > 2:15:51Let's see what he can do. Risking it. Over the rollers on the top part

2:15:51 > 2:16:02of the course. The Dragons claw. Around the Paradise Turn. This

2:16:02 > 2:16:06camera angle gives you such a good idea of the speed these guys are

2:16:06 > 2:16:15travelling with across the snow. That there is a massive jump.

2:16:15 > 2:16:17That there is a massive jump.That is in a super-g with no course

2:16:17 > 2:16:22inspection.

2:16:22 > 2:16:32inspection.Half a second now. You need to be within half

2:16:33 > 2:16:37need to be within half a second of Jansrud to be in the medals. Trained

2:16:37 > 2:16:46well in the down hell. He could go past Svindal and ski into silver

2:16:46 > 2:16:56medal position. A little late on the last. He has got the silver medal

2:16:56 > 2:17:04position. He has demoted Svindal to the bronze. He cannot believe it, he

2:17:04 > 2:17:17is second. He took a lot of risk and it paid off for him.

2:17:17 > 2:17:23it paid off for him.Matthias Mayer, Highway four Austria. Olympic

2:17:23 > 2:17:29champion in Downhill four years ago. Had a disappointing outing

2:17:29 > 2:17:33yesterday. Missed the medals and finished ninth. Can he bite back

2:17:33 > 2:17:40today. Fight back today. He has made a good start. Eight hundredths of a

2:17:40 > 2:17:49second off the pace.He loves it when it is technical. Now, can he

2:17:49 > 2:17:53glide over this slightly less steep section? Needs to get the line right

2:17:53 > 2:18:01after the jump. He heads towards the Blue Dragon Valley. This is where

2:18:01 > 2:18:09Jansrud was so good.Matthias Mayer is still in the hunt here. The

2:18:09 > 2:18:16difference between gold and bronze at the moment. There is room on the

2:18:16 > 2:18:19podium the Matthias Mayer as he hunts for his second Olympic medal.

2:18:19 > 2:18:31I wonder if he has lost his chance. Nope, he is out in front. Point 19

2:18:31 > 2:18:36ahead of Jansrud. He can barely watch. Matthias Mayer was the

2:18:36 > 2:18:42Olympic downhill champion four years ago. Can he win the super-g? He can.

2:18:42 > 2:18:46Matthias Mayer leads the Olympic super-g. The Austrian has skied into

2:18:46 > 2:18:57the gold medal. Matthias Mayer, not able to defend his downhill title,

2:18:57 > 2:19:05So Hee Lee needs the super-g instead.

2:19:20 > 2:19:28How does he to Matthias Mayer up the not bad.

2:19:35 > 2:19:42They turned their for Beat Feuz. Comes down towards the Blue Dragon

2:19:42 > 2:19:48Valley. Big leap into that. He is certainly here for a medal. He is

2:19:48 > 2:19:56not turning up for the minor places and he is in the hunt again. Level

2:19:56 > 2:20:04at the second split with Matthias Mayer.

2:20:04 > 2:20:14Mayer. Quickest in that speed trap. 102.9 kilometres an hour. Feuz is

2:20:14 > 2:20:19looking for a big surprise. Now he might just have let it slip

2:20:19 > 2:20:26slightly. If he can get he will be amongst the medals again, as he did

2:20:26 > 2:20:33on Downhill day. He tucks in for the line and Feuz is in silver. It has

2:20:33 > 2:20:42all changed here. Matthias Mayer has just ski into gold and now Feuz has

2:20:42 > 2:20:47his hands on the silver medal.I thought the mistake he made coming

2:20:47 > 2:20:51out of the Blue Dragon Valley, he just got the line ever so slightly

2:20:51 > 2:20:58wrong going into the following turn, the right footed turn.Otherwise he

2:20:58 > 2:21:02could have been climbing on to top spot. But still, the gold in the

2:21:02 > 2:21:09hands of Matthias Mayer. And most Dominik Paris has something to say

2:21:09 > 2:21:14about it. He is beginning his quest to win his first Olympic gold medal.

2:21:14 > 2:21:18If it was about size and weight, Dominik Paris would be the winner.

2:21:18 > 2:21:27He has had the advantage of watching the others ski. His coach has set

2:21:27 > 2:21:33the course for him, so it is fast, not too technical. Paris is taking

2:21:33 > 2:21:38the longer route. Missed the apex and the start of the turn and ski

2:21:38 > 2:21:47two meters off the gate. That will add some metres onto his distance.

2:21:47 > 2:21:53Big leap for Dominik Paris. Quicker at take-off and landing. Now, it

2:21:53 > 2:21:59might have just gone beyond him.

2:21:59 > 2:22:03might have just gone beyond him. The top three separated by just 0.18 and

2:22:03 > 2:22:08he overloaded the outside ski in the Blue Dragon Valley. Back on track

2:22:08 > 2:22:15now. This is still recoverable for Dominik Paris. Now, it is probably

2:22:15 > 2:22:28too much. 0.67 and he might end up outside the top five today. Matthias

2:22:28 > 2:22:34Mayer's leading time... Dominik Paris clerks 1:25.18 and goes into

2:22:34 > 2:22:43seven. -- clocks. Matthias Mayer, is the man for the big occasion. He

2:22:43 > 2:22:54wins his second Olympic gold medal. It is the second medal for Beat Feuz

2:22:54 > 2:22:57and Jansrud takes the bronze medal after his silver in the Olympic

2:22:57 > 2:23:01downhill.

2:23:13 > 2:23:18Good morning. They feel are just joining us from Pyeongchang, we were

2:23:18 > 2:23:22getting a couple of comments that the blue skies and the sunshine on

2:23:22 > 2:23:27the balcony was looking warm. We have decided to prove it is freezing

2:23:27 > 2:23:33by coming down into the snow and it is probably down around minus six

2:23:33 > 2:23:38here at the moment. We have had plenty to keep us warm on this day

2:23:38 > 2:23:43seven. Here are the headlines so far, if you have missed any of the

2:23:43 > 2:23:48action. Great Britain are off the mark in Pyeongchang after Dom

2:23:48 > 2:23:54Parsons claimed bronze in the men's Skeleton. A first medal in British

2:23:54 > 2:24:01man since 1948. There was a massive shock in the women's slalom as

2:24:01 > 2:24:05Mikaela Shiffrin, one of the biggest gold medal favourites for

2:24:05 > 2:24:12Pyeongchang could only finish fourth. Charlie Guest finished 33rd

2:24:12 > 2:24:22in the women's slalom, a credit goal -- to her after fracturing for

2:24:22 > 2:24:30vertebrae after training in Sweden. Lindsey Jacobellis' attempt ended in

2:24:30 > 2:24:36disappointment for the American, 12 years after her infamous showboating

2:24:36 > 2:24:42left her wanting in children. The reigning champion, Matt Zhou hang

2:24:42 > 2:24:47you took a giant leap to defending his Olympic title with a flawless

2:24:47 > 2:24:51short programme performance. He holds a four-point lead heading into

2:24:51 > 2:25:00the free skate. His archrival suffered a nightmare routine.

2:25:00 > 2:25:04Earlier this morning, Andrew Musgrave took to the snow again in

2:25:04 > 2:25:09the 15 kilometre freestyle. He had high hopes of a medal position or a

2:25:09 > 2:25:14high place finish, but finished 28th and after the race he spoke to

2:25:14 > 2:25:21Graham Bell. What happened?Good question. I

2:25:21 > 2:25:28don't know, I had a bad day. I went out and the plan was to go out

2:25:28 > 2:25:32pretty easy on the first lap. Wasn't going to be too worried if I lost a

2:25:32 > 2:25:38bit of time because I could make it up in the second. I thought, it is

2:25:38 > 2:25:42the Olympics and maybe there are a few guys that went out too hard. I

2:25:42 > 2:25:47went out at an even pace and then it was shocking, never got going and

2:25:47 > 2:25:53felt heavy the whole of the way round.Even in the first 1.5

2:25:53 > 2:25:58kilometres, you didn't have the pace?No, it was pretty shocking.

2:25:58 > 2:26:04Sundays, you don't go that fast. I don't know, I just didn't have a

2:26:04 > 2:26:09good day. What is next, we have the other Andreu here. Come on in,

2:26:09 > 2:26:16Andrew Young, what is next for you guys?Of who we have the team sprint

2:26:16 > 2:26:20on Tuesday, so we will be doing the team sprint and see how that goes.

2:26:20 > 2:26:28Hopefully a better day for me and if we have a good day, we can do pretty

2:26:28 > 2:26:34well.Tactics for the team sprint? Go fast. I think we can make it to

2:26:34 > 2:26:40the final on a good day. We want to stay in the mixed for the first few

2:26:40 > 2:26:47laps and then the last lap, because it is two of the best on each sheet.

2:26:47 > 2:26:51We have two be fast enough to make it into one of those spots.

2:26:51 > 2:26:58Commiserations today, Andrew. Whatever! Only eight years until the

2:26:58 > 2:27:04next one.I am sure he will come back.We will see you in the team

2:27:04 > 2:27:08sprint. Andrew Young popping into that

2:27:08 > 2:27:15interview. You might have heard Andrew Musgrave say it will be eight

2:27:15 > 2:27:24years before the next because next year they changed to the freestyle

2:27:24 > 2:27:32from the classic style which is not his event. When you leave the ice

2:27:32 > 2:27:37hockey early, which we do apologise for, there would be some drama. We

2:27:37 > 2:27:42will round up the end of the action from the first period before we

2:27:42 > 2:27:44joined the second period between the Olympic Athletes from Russia and

2:27:44 > 2:27:52Slovenia.

2:27:56 > 2:28:09High and over the top. Power-play goal.

2:28:10 > 2:28:14goal. The net keeper beaten and that is just what the Russians ordered.

2:28:14 > 2:28:21Lovely

2:28:21 > 2:28:26Lovely movements of the puck. You cannot give the time and space to

2:28:26 > 2:28:30Mozyakin as he walked onto one there and blasted home with ease.

2:28:30 > 2:28:35Beautiful

2:28:39 > 2:28:44Beautiful pass from Nikita Gusev. Picked how difficult it is for a net

2:28:44 > 2:28:47keeper following the puck left to right and then it comes off the

2:28:47 > 2:28:51stick of Mozyakin.

2:28:57 > 2:29:06So, can they add a second before the end of the session? And they get a

2:29:06 > 2:29:14second. Oh my goes nurse -- goodness. Double quick time from the

2:29:14 > 2:29:21Olympic Athletes from Russia.

2:29:21 > 2:29:23Olympic Athletes from Russia. Ilya Kovalchuk, have much to say after

2:29:23 > 2:29:28the opening game, but the old adage, actions speak louder than words and

2:29:28 > 2:29:34right now, the actions are pretty good for this Russian team. They

2:29:34 > 2:29:42lead now 2-0.Let's see what it hit on the way through. It was the

2:29:42 > 2:29:48Slovenian defender. Right off the stick of Jan Urbas. Talk about the

2:29:48 > 2:29:56big guns stepping up in a large way. Into the second session and very

2:29:56 > 2:30:02much the Olympic Athletes from Russia, are in control of this and

2:30:02 > 2:30:11Ilya Kovalchuk, looking to go in the back door. It is a huge turn of

2:30:11 > 2:30:17momentum, two goals in the space of 22 seconds. Slovenia are on the back

2:30:17 > 2:30:24foot now. This game has changed, snap your fingers and it has gone

2:30:24 > 2:30:30the other way?It is coming the other way again.Kovalchuk, wide of

2:30:30 > 2:30:38the target. They weren't so close and Ilya Kovalchuk has got the bit

2:30:38 > 2:30:43between his teeth and he is one of the superstars, one of the most

2:30:43 > 2:30:50known players in this tournament. Right now, he's putting in some

2:30:50 > 2:30:55performance.

2:30:57 > 2:31:05The 2-goal advantage belongs to OAR.

2:31:08 > 2:31:12Slovenia have to do something to try and get a grip on this game and stem

2:31:12 > 2:31:18the flow.

2:31:39 > 2:31:54Rebound! Just wide. Not able to finish it off. Penalty coming

2:31:54 > 2:32:01against Slovenia. That will frustrate them. They just managed to

2:32:01 > 2:32:13get their first real play in the zone. That was the best opportunity.

2:32:13 > 2:32:26Finally, Slovenia get a bit of attack time. Here is the two on one.

2:32:28 > 2:32:33This is a real tough penalty to take, 200 feet away from your own

2:32:33 > 2:32:36goal. Those are the ones that raise the hair on the back of the neck of

2:32:36 > 2:32:49your coach. The Russian team's power play was so effective. How are they

2:32:49 > 2:32:56going to work this one around those boards? It is with the main man

2:32:56 > 2:33:07right now, Ilya Kovalchuk.

2:33:12 > 2:33:30And they convert! Oh, boy. Right place, right time. Six minutes into

2:33:30 > 2:33:37the second period, OAR lead 3-0. Right now, they are lethal in front

2:33:37 > 2:33:45of net.Of the power play once again.

2:33:47 > 2:33:56again. Right onto Barabanov's stick and he makes no mistake. Sometimes,

2:33:56 > 2:34:01it's not how hard you shoot, it's where you place it. A terrific shot

2:34:01 > 2:34:14from Alexander Barabanov. Slovenia were hanging in there. But in the

2:34:14 > 2:34:17last eight minutes, the Olympic Athletes from Russia have taken this

2:34:17 > 2:34:27game over.

2:34:27 > 2:34:36game over.Barabanov credited with the goal.

2:34:36 > 2:34:39the goal. And there could be even more. They are in once again,

2:34:39 > 2:34:44driving hard to the net. This could be a penalty shot. It is. Hands in

2:34:44 > 2:34:50the air.

2:34:52 > 2:34:59the air. This will be the official call on the ice.

2:34:59 > 2:35:04call on the ice.Counter shot for tripping against team white. That is

2:35:04 > 2:35:12the signal, hands crossed above the head.Terrific shot here. He doesn't

2:35:12 > 2:35:20have a lot of speed, but he immediately shield the puck. The

2:35:20 > 2:35:26Slovenian defender then has to take him down.We don't see many of these

2:35:26 > 2:35:33in ice hockey. Correct call?I think so.

2:35:34 > 2:35:43so. This is one of the most exciting plays sport. Hits the post and away

2:35:43 > 2:36:01it comes. He beat the goalie, but not the goal frame.

2:36:07 > 2:36:16In one motion, he fires that shot. Like you said, he didn't get the

2:36:16 > 2:36:28post.Slovenia get this one into the offensive zone. This could be a big

2:36:28 > 2:36:38opportunity. Good save.

2:36:38 > 2:36:44opportunity. Good save. Gracnar is a man under siege right now.

2:36:45 > 2:36:46man under siege right now.Slovenia have to find some answers pretty

2:36:46 > 2:36:54quick or this game will be out of hand before they know it.

2:37:02 > 2:37:13Mozyakin has it again.

2:37:19 > 2:37:24Russia are winning the 50-50 and the 40-60 battles. They have a real

2:37:24 > 2:37:34hunger right now.

2:38:13 > 2:38:18You know the saying. Hard work beats talent every time. But hard-working

2:38:18 > 2:38:24talent is almost unbeatable. And finally, we are seeing this from the

2:38:24 > 2:38:33Olympic Athletes from Russia team. Ilya Kovalchuk!Oh, my goodness!

2:38:33 > 2:38:41That was class, world-class.

2:38:42 > 2:38:46That was class, world-class. This goal is all about the superstar that

2:38:46 > 2:38:52is Ilya Kovalchuk. He slides through the Slovenians before putting it on

2:38:52 > 2:38:59a platter. And it was gratefully consumed. This is a hockey clinic

2:38:59 > 2:39:06being put on and it is being led by Ilya Kovalchuk. What a play, just

2:39:06 > 2:39:13three Slovenian defenders. And that leaves a wide open opportunity. Look

2:39:13 > 2:39:23at the pace. This is just wonderful hockey right here. This is what we

2:39:23 > 2:39:29were waiting for. We knew the talent on this Russian athlete team. And

2:39:29 > 2:39:34now we are finally seeing it. They are working hard. The skill on

2:39:34 > 2:39:40display is amazing. That was the player that missed on the penalty

2:39:40 > 2:39:45shot.

2:39:46 > 2:39:50shot.That was a bit special from Ilya Kovalchuk. He was one of those

2:39:50 > 2:39:55players who featured in the Russian shirt in Sochi who was criticised

2:39:55 > 2:40:00for his performance. He wasn't very good, let's face it. He had a bad

2:40:00 > 2:40:05Olympic Games. He wants to atone for that. Before this game, he had some

2:40:05 > 2:40:10hard words. We didn't get the job done, that was the sentiment of what

2:40:10 > 2:40:14he had to say. He is one of the superstars and right now, he is

2:40:14 > 2:40:18delivering in a big way on the ice and you can see what it means to

2:40:18 > 2:40:27him. The Russians have got a taste for it.It doesn't look like they

2:40:27 > 2:40:38are letting up any time soon.

2:40:41 > 2:40:44Behind the back of the net, they have a couple of opportunities to

2:40:44 > 2:40:54move this.

2:41:00 > 2:41:04The decision to make a few changes to the line-up has paid off for the

2:41:04 > 2:41:13Russian coach. Or I should say, the OAR coach.

2:41:13 > 2:41:25OAR coach. And another one! That is number five.

2:41:26 > 2:41:32number five. The Slovenian team is battered and bruised and in tatters.

2:41:32 > 2:41:37The netminder has played well, but they can't compete right now. This

2:41:37 > 2:41:41is an awesome show of power from what is becoming the new big red

2:41:41 > 2:41:47machine.You get flashbacks to the old Russian army teams of legends

2:41:47 > 2:41:53past.

2:41:53 > 2:42:07past. What a play here. This was not an easy shot.

2:42:10 > 2:42:13Russia are writing like puppet masters right now. They have the

2:42:13 > 2:42:20puck on a string, doing whatever they want to do with it.Five goals

2:42:20 > 2:42:30from five different scorers.

2:42:31 > 2:42:36Three goals in four minutes and two seconds of playing time of the

2:42:36 > 2:42:44second period. This is such a wonderful play.

2:42:44 > 2:42:47wonderful play. The pass goes through an area that Kaprizov wasn't

2:42:47 > 2:42:53in. It was a plague of almost telepathic tendencies.It was

2:42:53 > 2:43:02terrific poise from Gusev. We see his patients when he has the puck

2:43:02 > 2:43:08inside the blue line.

2:43:19 > 2:43:34Here it is again. And here was Gusev. Terrific patience. No

2:43:34 > 2:43:37Slovenian was even aware that he had jumped out there. And it is

2:43:37 > 2:43:47pandemonium in the stands. The goal that will make you jump for joy.

2:43:47 > 2:43:52Obviously, there was talk about no NHL players here, where is the star

2:43:52 > 2:43:57power going to come from? Everyone pointed to this OAR team. Certainly

2:43:57 > 2:44:03a bitter disappointment in Game one for Slovakia, but they are redeeming

2:44:03 > 2:44:08it here because we have seen five goals, five beautiful goals. It has

2:44:08 > 2:44:17been a performance of real quality that will send shivers down the back

2:44:17 > 2:44:22of the head coaches of the other teams. It certainly is a statement

2:44:22 > 2:44:37game.This could get very tricky. Interception from Slovenia.

2:44:46 > 2:44:54I was making the point, going back to the red Army days and from a

2:44:54 > 2:44:59Slovenian perspective, it is a red wave rolling over. You cannot tell

2:44:59 > 2:45:08the difference whether it is Ilya Kovalchuk on Gusev. Every time you

2:45:08 > 2:45:18look up, you see a red jersey bearing down on you with the puck.

2:45:36 > 2:45:44As this one goes across the front of the net from the civilians.

2:45:44 > 2:45:46the net from the civilians. -- Slovenians. Another penalty here.

2:45:46 > 2:45:54Maybe this is a chance to put an end to things. Quick question from the

2:45:54 > 2:46:02rhetoric, are you OK?Slovenia need to find a way to stem the tide here.

2:46:02 > 2:46:09Already 5-0 and I am sure there is 28 minutes of play still to go, but

2:46:09 > 2:46:16I don't see any glimpses of a comeback on the cards. But on the

2:46:16 > 2:46:24Olympic stage, you don't want to be embarrassed.Absolutely, but this is

2:46:24 > 2:46:30the kind of performance that every once in a while you can watch a team

2:46:30 > 2:46:34who is having fun, being expressive and showing what they can do out

2:46:34 > 2:46:38there. It has been a long time since a Russian side has played with this

2:46:38 > 2:46:44kind of freedom.

2:46:44 > 2:46:51kind of freedom. Here is the thing, typically Russia always has the best

2:46:51 > 2:46:55players, the most talented. But they don't have the best teams. They

2:46:55 > 2:47:01don't work hard and there is not a lot of chemistry. Obviously, we have

2:47:01 > 2:47:07just seen 32 minutes of play here, and it is leading us to believe that

2:47:07 > 2:47:12if they play like this, they work hard, they really are the

2:47:12 > 2:47:22favourites.Absolutely. Other teams will be in the mix, Canada, Sweden

2:47:22 > 2:47:27have both looked good so far. That is a huge hit. Stepping across and

2:47:27 > 2:47:38making contact. That is the amazing thing about this Russian side, they

2:47:38 > 2:47:46are big and strong and willing to trade physically. That is the other

2:47:46 > 2:47:51interesting thing, it would be very easy... Another chance... Off the

2:47:51 > 2:48:06post. Maybe off the stick of the netminder, but very close. This

2:48:08 > 2:48:14point in puck's career, for him to be killing penalties in a 5-0 game

2:48:14 > 2:48:18shows you it is a team that is very focused. It tells you he is buying

2:48:18 > 2:48:25in. Here is the giveaway.

2:48:25 > 2:48:28in. Here is the giveaway. Remember, Slovenia is on the power play here.

2:48:28 > 2:48:34To make a giveaway when you have the man advantage, tells you something

2:48:34 > 2:48:41about where we are at here.Seven minutes remaining in a period that

2:48:41 > 2:48:46may comeback in the

2:48:46 > 2:48:51may comeback in the nightmares of Luka Gracnar, the Slovenian

2:48:51 > 2:49:01goal-tender. There will be red blurs when he closes his eyes later,

2:49:01 > 2:49:12firing shots from all angles at him. Finally, Slovenia Ansah back here.

2:49:12 > 2:49:20Jan Mursak again, is the one that makes the difference. And the

2:49:20 > 2:49:27captain, trying to get his team going. They break the shoot out with

2:49:27 > 2:49:33a garbage goal. Garbage in the sense it was scored by picking up the mess

2:49:33 > 2:49:45in front. But Slovenia on the board. The captain, has scored twice. Once

2:49:45 > 2:49:55late and an overtime the day against the UK. This was a nice pass from

2:49:55 > 2:50:01Verlic. Right in that difficult area. It is an important goal. I am

2:50:01 > 2:50:06not saying it will start a comeback, because I cannot see that happening

2:50:06 > 2:50:13here. But Slovenia need some kind of win, something to give them a bit of

2:50:13 > 2:50:21motivation late in the second period.Goal-scoring is, in this

2:50:21 > 2:50:25game, maybe not quite as difficult as some of the others in this

2:50:25 > 2:50:33tournament so far. Third of the tournament for Mursak and that is a

2:50:33 > 2:50:39huge thing for him. Huge thing for Slovenia as well, even though they

2:50:39 > 2:50:49trail pretty heavily right now. Three power plays, three goals.

2:50:49 > 2:50:56Don't take a penalty in this game. That would be my suggestion. The

2:50:56 > 2:51:02civilians are having a little push here. They tried to get a second in

2:51:02 > 2:51:08quick succession. Under the catching glove. We have another stoppage.I

2:51:08 > 2:51:12love when leaders speak up, but normally when they do that and prove

2:51:12 > 2:51:20it on the ice, some comments after the game against Slovakia, they said

2:51:20 > 2:51:24it was the power play that let them down. We have to be better. The

2:51:24 > 2:51:34power play has stop there is Mursak, he had three points in Sochi at the

2:51:34 > 2:51:42Olympic Games.Right now he has three goals in this tournament. This

2:51:42 > 2:51:48is the third of them.

2:51:52 > 2:51:59is the third of them.Little bit of relief for the Slovenian club.

2:52:02 > 2:52:08relief for the Slovenian club. 5-1 leading Slovenia.

2:52:08 > 2:52:12leading Slovenia.A chance to pause for breath. Barely been an

2:52:12 > 2:52:21opportunity for that in this period. It has been a lot of fun.It has.

2:52:21 > 2:52:29We, alongside every hockey fan, we were looking to see how our team

2:52:29 > 2:52:38play. It was disappointing against Slovakia. They have gone back to old

2:52:38 > 2:52:46tendencies. Did not work, let Slovakia hang around. They have come

2:52:46 > 2:52:52out refreshed, renewed and reinvigorated.The face-off breaks

2:52:52 > 2:52:56towards the Olympic Athletes from Russia team and they will be

2:52:56 > 2:53:02breaking again. Looking for more goals in this game. Kirill Kaprizov,

2:53:02 > 2:53:10this line is clicking now. Nikita Gusev.

2:53:10 > 2:53:17Gusev. They are linking so well with each other. They have potentially

2:53:17 > 2:53:28the best part of the line behind them

2:53:28 > 2:53:34them with travelled that suck. One of the greatest Russian players to

2:53:34 > 2:53:44ever play the game will stop -- Pavel Datsyuk.

2:53:45 > 2:53:48Pavel Datsyuk. You are well within your right with that statement, he

2:53:48 > 2:53:53is about to be induced into the Russian hall of Fame.Lovely turn

2:53:53 > 2:54:02and spin away. Some great

2:54:04 > 2:54:10and spin away. Some great skating. The Russians will break in at the

2:54:10 > 2:54:18other end. Under four minutes to go in this second period. From a

2:54:18 > 2:54:22technical standpoint, this Russian team has played so well. Done all of

2:54:22 > 2:54:35the right things. Everyone was alive to the giveaway.

2:54:35 > 2:54:39to the giveaway. The Slovenians, scrappy, trying to hang in. But it

2:54:39 > 2:54:47is just so tough when they have wave, after wave, after wave. Here

2:54:47 > 2:54:54comes the next wave. This one download... Good save. Luka Gracnar

2:54:54 > 2:54:59did well.

2:55:03 > 2:55:11did well. He took it away from Ivan Telegin.

2:55:21 > 2:55:30Great pass. A drop of on the play. They are showboating... Ilia Kabul

2:55:30 > 2:55:35Chuck

2:55:39 > 2:55:47Chuck -- Ilya Kovalchuk. Second of the game for him. They are being the

2:55:47 > 2:55:50big red machine right now and demolishing what is in front of

2:55:50 > 2:55:55them. Incredible.

2:55:56 > 2:56:00them. Incredible.Speechless. Speechless. This will be one of the

2:56:00 > 2:56:08nicest goals you will ever see. The long clearing pass. He wants it

2:56:08 > 2:56:18back. Then what a rocket shot and I love the motion. What a pretty play.

2:56:18 > 2:56:28How do you defend that? You don't, you don't defend it. You do what

2:56:28 > 2:56:35Slovenia did and that is collect the puck from the back of the net. It is

2:56:35 > 2:56:41a combination of four years of hurt, frustration and anger from all of

2:56:41 > 2:56:47those questions he has not liked. The embarrassment, think about what

2:56:47 > 2:56:55they did in Sochi, the host team, out of there. There was a Russian

2:56:55 > 2:57:01hockey inquisition. How can we have so many talented players and how can

2:57:01 > 2:57:07we not perform? This is a guy that has taken his team on his back. This

2:57:07 > 2:57:16is almost Harlem Globetrotters. Many people might not have watched a lot

2:57:16 > 2:57:23of ice hockey, so what you are seeing is very special. It is a

2:57:23 > 2:57:29throwback to the days of the old USSR team, the old red Army team

2:57:29 > 2:57:35would do things like that. They are on a different level to the

2:57:35 > 2:57:38collegiate USA team of the travelling Canadian team and they

2:57:38 > 2:57:45are doing it right now. This is a special, special performance and if

2:57:45 > 2:57:49they can keep this level up, it would take a very good performance

2:57:49 > 2:57:53and a very good and disciplined team to beat them. You have hit the nail

2:57:53 > 2:58:01on the head. The things the Russian teams from the 70s and 80s did, was

2:58:01 > 2:58:04so much different than anyone in hockey had ever seen.Puck

2:58:04 > 2:58:10possession.

2:58:10 > 2:58:14possession. Slavonia are gone. They are shot right now.I don't blame

2:58:14 > 2:58:21them. Puck possession, jumping through holes, incredible chemistry,

2:58:21 > 2:58:32knowing where your team-mate is, like this right here.

2:58:32 > 2:58:35like this right here. Nikita Gusev wins this puck and right away he

2:58:35 > 2:58:42knows where Datsyuk is.If the kids are watching, head of their trip to

2:58:42 > 2:58:50school, they can enjoy this. Particularly those who have an

2:58:50 > 2:58:58interest in ice hockey. If you are inspired, it gets to the Get

2:58:58 > 2:59:07Inspired BBC web page. Your father still plays, doesn't he?75 years

2:59:07 > 2:59:12old and still going strong. You can find him at the rink three days a

2:59:12 > 2:59:19week.He loves it. Is he better now than when you were a kid, I wonder?

2:59:19 > 2:59:24He probably is.

2:59:25 > 2:59:28He probably is.Slavonia cannot stand back and admire, they have to

2:59:28 > 2:59:32keep working hard. Otherwise the scoreboard is going to look very

2:59:32 > 2:59:40lopsided. It already is looking remarkably like that.I just love

2:59:40 > 2:59:47how the Olympic Athletes from Russia team has not let up. They got up

2:59:47 > 2:59:553-1, kept going. 4-1, 5-1 and they are not ready to put this one away

2:59:55 > 3:00:05just yet.Absolutely not as Lavinia caught offside.You know what this

3:00:05 > 3:00:13does, it sets up a matchup with Team USA.Potentially the first place in

3:00:13 > 3:00:21the group as well.Potentially for first place. Slovakia will still be

3:00:21 > 3:00:26in the right position, but if the USA can get three points, they would

3:00:26 > 3:00:33have seven through the groups. The most the Russians can get is six and

3:00:33 > 3:00:42the most Slovakia can get is six. I am looking forward to see how the

3:00:42 > 3:00:46young American team handles a Russian team, but hopefully

3:00:46 > 3:00:53continues their play, from what we have seen here.

3:00:54 > 3:00:57Well, playing against this quality would be an education for the

3:00:57 > 3:01:02collegiate American team. Certainly, the players will never have faced

3:01:02 > 3:01:09this kind of competition before.

3:01:19 > 3:01:25Into the closing few moments of this period.

3:01:30 > 3:01:32period. It's the speed of thought as much as the speed of foot in this

3:01:32 > 3:01:37game.

3:01:39 > 3:01:46game. Another shot comes in. It was Kovalchuk looking for the hat-trick.

3:01:46 > 3:01:54He thinks he might be able to get one before the end of the period.

3:01:54 > 3:01:58Slovenia can breathe a sigh of relief that there will not be a

3:01:58 > 3:02:06seventh goal in this period. You can see the difference here in hockey

3:02:06 > 3:02:12nations.

3:02:12 > 3:02:18nations. The Russian defender Zub went at the net. The difference in

3:02:18 > 3:02:22nations is that one has the second best league in the world, the other

3:02:22 > 3:02:27doesn't have a proper professional league.And a population of 140

3:02:27 > 3:02:36million compared to 6 million.What a period. The Ilya Kovalchuk show.

3:02:36 > 3:02:42An incredible performance from him. And the Olympic Athletes from Russia

3:02:42 > 3:02:46have just shown what they are all about. When we were looking at the

3:02:46 > 3:02:49teams before the start, this is what we were hoping for from this group

3:02:49 > 3:02:55of players. We knew that without the star power from the NHL team, all

3:02:55 > 3:03:02eyes would be on this OAR club. They have star power in spades.

3:03:02 > 3:03:08Kovalchuk, Mozyakin and a couple of stars in the making, Gusev and

3:03:08 > 3:03:15Kaprizov. Stunning stuff.Favourite goal?All of the above!It has been

3:03:15 > 3:03:20a work of art from the Russian team, who are chasing top spot. They were

3:03:20 > 3:03:25beaten in their first game, didn't play well after the opening seven

3:03:25 > 3:03:29minutes. But this has been the kind of performance that the Russian

3:03:29 > 3:03:34players have been threatening to deliver a maybe four or five Olympic

3:03:34 > 3:03:40Games. And you are witnessing it now. At the end of two periods, the

3:03:40 > 3:03:48Olympic Athletes from Russia are leading Slovenia 6-1. STUDIO: Yeah,

3:03:48 > 3:03:51the Olympic Athletes from Russia bouncing back from that surprise

3:03:51 > 3:03:54opening group match defeat in some style. If you want to watch the

3:03:54 > 3:03:59third period of that match, you can head over to BBC red button. Mikaela

3:03:59 > 3:04:05Shiffrin is one of the big adult contenders here in Pyeongchang in

3:04:05 > 3:04:09the Alpine events. She already won her first gold yesterday in the

3:04:09 > 3:04:13giant slalom, but the slalom is her preferred event. I don't think

3:04:13 > 3:04:17anybody was expecting anything more today from the slalom done another

3:04:17 > 3:04:21Mikaela Shiffrin gold. But she had it all to do heading to her second

3:04:21 > 3:04:25run. She was sitting in fourth position and Matt Chilton talks you

3:04:25 > 3:04:33through what was a thrilling finale to the women's slalom.

3:04:33 > 3:04:37Next ago, Mikaela Shiffrin, looking for the downhill double. She became

3:04:37 > 3:04:42the champion 24 hours ago on this hill. Her advantage is significant.

3:04:42 > 3:04:47And it looks like the wind has just eased off for Mikaela Shiffrin. Now

3:04:47 > 3:04:54she finds the worst of it. Good, clean start. Four races in the past

3:04:54 > 3:05:00have done the GS and slalom doubles. The first was in Oslo. Then in Lake

3:05:00 > 3:05:09Placid. Another did it in Calgary in 1988. First mistake for Shifrin. The

3:05:09 > 3:05:18most recent star with a double medal was in 2002 in Salt Lake City. Can

3:05:18 > 3:05:22Mikaela Shiffrin Derek? Not only is she looking for the GS slalom ?

3:05:22 > 3:05:26she's hoping to defend the slalom gold she won four years ago in

3:05:26 > 3:05:32Sochi. And she is finishing with incredible speed! She has gone

3:05:32 > 3:05:39second. Shiffrin will not make its two gold medals.

3:05:42 > 3:05:49two gold medals. Gallhuber stays in first position. Three to go, and

3:05:49 > 3:05:56Shiffrin made the error that cost her the chance to lead this race.

3:05:56 > 3:06:12Shiffrin will not win the Olympic title. Three to come.

3:06:19 > 3:06:25She has incredible strength. She is maintaining most of her Ndidi even

3:06:25 > 3:06:31as she battles through the wind. I heard her scream in an effort to

3:06:31 > 3:06:36encourage herself back onto the ideal racing line. And us when

3:06:36 > 3:06:42Larsson from Sweden, still in front.

3:06:53 > 3:07:01Swenn Larsson, pushing for the line.

3:07:01 > 3:07:04She is in bronze. Galllhuber is guaranteed a medal. That is

3:07:04 > 3:07:12extraordinary. Katerina Gal hygge -- Galllhuber will finish with bronze

3:07:12 > 3:07:24at worst. Two to come.

3:07:43 > 3:07:51Hansdotter is on her way. She had a solid first run and a good giant

3:07:51 > 3:07:59slalom day yesterday. The majority of her advantage is intact. The

3:07:59 > 3:08:11worst of the wind is at this part of the course.

3:08:11 > 3:08:14the course. Hansdotter has never won an Olympic medal. Can she put that

3:08:14 > 3:08:30right today? She is the former World Cup slalom champion.

3:08:30 > 3:08:36Cup slalom champion. Hansdotter beats the lead! She moves into gold.

3:08:36 > 3:08:43She is guaranteed silver at worst. With one to come, Galllhuber finally

3:08:43 > 3:08:52surrenders the lead.

3:08:52 > 3:08:58surrenders the lead. Sensible skiing from Hansdotter.

3:09:00 > 3:09:06from Hansdotter. Now they have to wait and watch.

3:09:09 > 3:09:21wait and watch. The last skier, Wendy Holdener from Sweden.

3:09:21 > 3:09:24Wendy Holdener from Sweden. But now it's down to the second run of the

3:09:24 > 3:09:34Olympic slalom.

3:09:35 > 3:09:43She has got the worst of the wind. It's absolutely whipping in to the

3:09:43 > 3:09:51face and goggles of the skier.

3:09:51 > 3:09:54face and goggles of the skier. From here, she can start to relax. She is

3:09:54 > 3:09:59out of the breeze. She's got to push through every one of these terms.

3:09:59 > 3:10:04She can still turn this around and take the Olympic title. Wendy

3:10:04 > 3:10:11Holdener Switzerland, trying to deny Hansdotter. Holdener takes the

3:10:11 > 3:10:16silver! Hansdotter is the Olympic champion.

3:10:16 > 3:10:23STUDIO: What an incredible finish to the event. Graham Bell, you said

3:10:23 > 3:10:26yesterday, for Shiffrin not win, there would have to be a meteor

3:10:26 > 3:10:31strike! I must have missed that.I have never seen Shiffrin look so

3:10:31 > 3:10:33sluggish on her edges.

3:10:35 > 3:10:41It was like a meteor strike. Shiffrin won her first Championships

3:10:41 > 3:10:46and then she won the Olympics the next year. She is undefeated in

3:10:46 > 3:10:50major championships since 2013. For her not to win today, I think

3:10:50 > 3:10:54something special happened. She has apparently been ill, but it was more

3:10:54 > 3:10:58the fact that she won yesterday and the fact that the programme has been

3:10:58 > 3:11:03squeezed in. She had no day off in between. She had to do the medal

3:11:03 > 3:11:09ceremony and she normally goes to bed at 8.30 at night. Lack of sleep?

3:11:09 > 3:11:14In fairness to her, she does say she has been ill, but that was not the

3:11:14 > 3:11:17excuse she was giving. But it must have played a part. When you're

3:11:17 > 3:11:22coming off a day like yesterday, the emotional highs of winning the gold,

3:11:22 > 3:11:27it must be difficult to turn that around if you are not 100%.Even

3:11:27 > 3:11:32after the first run, when she was 0.42 out, which is not much, because

3:11:32 > 3:11:43she can win races by three seconds, I expected her to nail it. She made

3:11:43 > 3:11:49a slight mistake which cost her a medal, but she just didn't have any

3:11:49 > 3:11:57energy. She didn't have that oomph that she had. And the other two

3:11:57 > 3:12:00women, I did pick them to silver and bronze. They moved up and they were

3:12:00 > 3:12:06amazing.Is it good to have a surprise like this?I think so, and

3:12:06 > 3:12:11it proves how difficult it is to win a gold medal. The fact you have won

3:12:11 > 3:12:15one, yes, it gives confidence, but to do it the next day is tough.

3:12:15 > 3:12:19Stepping away from the Alpine centre, you were at a cross-country

3:12:19 > 3:12:22centre today watching Andrew Musgrave. How do you assess his

3:12:22 > 3:12:28race? He must have been disappointed. He was very

3:12:28 > 3:12:36disappointed, almost inconsolable. But he will bounce back. I was

3:12:36 > 3:12:40talking to Andrew Young, who also raced in that race, and I are

3:12:40 > 3:12:45planning on racing the team sprint as well. That should be interesting.

3:12:45 > 3:12:50Gives them another shot at a medal. When you spoke to Andrew Musgrave

3:12:50 > 3:12:55before the Olympics, he had his sights set on a medal, particularly

3:12:55 > 3:13:00in today's 15 kilometres. And maybe the fact that he was so close in the

3:13:00 > 3:13:06skiathlon, maybe that drained him of energy. He said to me that he was

3:13:06 > 3:13:10planning on going out reasonably easy for the first half, and then he

3:13:10 > 3:13:14was going to go really hard. And he went to go hard and there was

3:13:14 > 3:13:21nothing there in the tank. What can we expect from them in the team?If

3:13:21 > 3:13:27they can get into the top ten cut, anything can happen. They will

3:13:27 > 3:13:31definitely try as hard as they can. Thank you for joining us. It's been

3:13:31 > 3:13:37another great day and it is not over yet. Darkness is falling, but Clare

3:13:37 > 3:13:43Balding will take over from us on BBC One. Do pop over there to join

3:13:43 > 3:13:47her, because she will look back on that fabulous bronze medal from Tom

3:13:47 > 3:13:51Parsons as well as look ahead to Lizzy Yarnold, who gets her Olympics

3:13:51 > 3:13:57underweight in the skeleton alongside Laura Deas. Lots to look

3:13:57 > 3:14:03forward to. Goodbye from me.
