:00:00. > :00:00.might still be lying shot. The Germans overcooked that. They

:00:00. > :00:10.weren't needing to sweep it, they needed to leave it. But that is to

:00:11. > :00:24.Great Britain's advantage at the moment.

:00:25. > :00:32.Let's see if David Murdoch can find the sort of form he was showing

:00:33. > :00:45.yesterday. Just been evading him so far.

:00:46. > :00:54.David is just going to draw this to the opposite side of the house,

:00:55. > :00:58.needs to finish in the eight foot, anywhere in the white circles. They

:00:59. > :01:04.don't want to leave a double, you can hear the boys saying that, but

:01:05. > :01:16.if they keep the stones level... That is a nice shot from Dave. That

:01:17. > :01:20.is setting him up with the chance of a two and that would mean going in

:01:21. > :01:34.level. Schulze just having a look, trying to decide with his skip.

:01:35. > :01:42.Trying to hear each other from that distance, there is so much noise at

:01:43. > :01:47.the moment. The Russians have taken a couple of shots back from Norway.

:01:48. > :01:57.That is why they are a little animated at the moment.

:01:58. > :02:07.I guess there are several options here for Team Germany. They can hit

:02:08. > :02:11.that out and say, OK, take your two. A big call would be a freeze, to sit

:02:12. > :02:16.on the front and say, you are not going to get my shot out of here.

:02:17. > :02:19.You can sit the yellow right on top of it but it is dangerous, because

:02:20. > :02:24.if he doesn't do it right, Dave would have the potential of taking

:02:25. > :02:30.it out for a three. This is probably the more sensible call. He could

:02:31. > :02:37.have also gone for the red on the other side of the house, he can see

:02:38. > :02:43.all of it from his hack. This is potentially the easiest of the two.

:02:44. > :02:48.He has played the percentages well so far, as it were. Accepting,

:02:49. > :03:06.perhaps, the position they are in. So, just a straightforward draw in.

:03:07. > :03:09.That is a shot Dave Murdoch has been playing well, so we should feel

:03:10. > :03:20.confident that we can get a two out of this end now.

:03:21. > :03:27.So, a straightforward shot for David Murdoch, the British skip. Hopefully

:03:28. > :03:32.get the two and even things up at the halfway point. And that is

:03:33. > :03:36.probably a fair indication, perhaps Germany have been playing a little

:03:37. > :03:40.better but Britain have been keeping themselves there or thereabouts, a

:03:41. > :03:48.very close match so far. This looks like it is coming in nicely.

:03:49. > :03:55.So David Murdoch, doing what he does very well, drawing almost to the

:03:56. > :03:59.button, so that levels things up, 3-3, after five ends.

:04:00. > :04:03.HAZEL IRVINE: And we will be back for the remainder of that match very

:04:04. > :04:06.shortly, but while we do have a five-minute break, we will bring you

:04:07. > :04:12.up to date with events up the hill, as it were, because we have been

:04:13. > :04:17.following the fortunes of all of the women's ski slopestyle is this

:04:18. > :04:23.morning, it was a fantastic event. It was brilliant but also brutal and

:04:24. > :04:26.I know many of you will be watching the fortunes of Yuki Tsubota of

:04:27. > :04:33.Canada, who had a horrible crash. We have received some information from

:04:34. > :04:38.the Canadian freestyle president and initial assessments show an injury

:04:39. > :04:40.to her jaw, they had taken her in for further assessment. There is

:04:41. > :04:45.nothing further to say, she didn't have concussion, she is in a good

:04:46. > :04:50.frame of mind. She hit her knee on her jaw and it is pretty common,

:04:51. > :04:54.that sort of thing, it is a very tough school, that particular sport.

:04:55. > :04:57.We have also managed to catch up with the fortunes of Dara Howell,

:04:58. > :05:02.the Canadian gold medallist from that event this morning, and indeed,

:05:03. > :05:06.Katie Summerhayes, of Great Britain, who finished seventh, at the tender

:05:07. > :05:10.age of 18 in her first Olympic Games. Clare Balding has been at

:05:11. > :05:16.Extreme Park and has managed to chat to the two of them.

:05:17. > :05:20.Katie, your reaction? I am honestly gutted. I skied really well in

:05:21. > :05:25.qualification, I think, which made me feel really good and then didn't

:05:26. > :05:31.get a result. It happens, everyone falls. I made to massive mistakes.

:05:32. > :05:39.How difficult were conditions? It was getting noticeably warmer. I

:05:40. > :05:44.made a plan to stick with the small draw percent and stuck with it, I

:05:45. > :05:49.was the luckiest out of the girls hitting the small side and not

:05:50. > :05:53.having to go up things as big. You had quite a delay before your second

:05:54. > :05:58.run because there was a crash right before you. How did you cope with

:05:59. > :06:02.that? To be honest, we didn't know, we didn't know what was happening so

:06:03. > :06:10.we thought it was just normal which was pretty good, because I really

:06:11. > :06:15.good friends with Yuki, so it was better I didn't know. Overall, good

:06:16. > :06:20.experience or you regretful of a missed opportunity? A bit of both. I

:06:21. > :06:24.am so lucky to be at the Olympics at 18, I never thought I would get this

:06:25. > :06:28.chance and I can use it as experience going into the next one

:06:29. > :06:32.but I feel like I skied really well in qualification, so I am gutted but

:06:33. > :06:39.I think later tonight, I will be really happy. I was watching with

:06:40. > :06:41.your parents and your younger sister, Molly, who now wants to do

:06:42. > :06:45.this in four years' time, and they are so full of love for you and

:06:46. > :06:50.proud of the work you have put in. You have had a chance to see them,

:06:51. > :06:54.haven't you? Yes, it was the first time, so I am so happy they are here

:06:55. > :06:58.supporting me. I have only been on skis for three months since my

:06:59. > :07:01.injury and they really helped me get through that, so I am so happy to

:07:02. > :07:07.see them. It was so good to come down, knowing someone is cheering

:07:08. > :07:14.for you, it is family. Let's have a word with your coach, Schulze. What

:07:15. > :07:18.did you make of it all? It has been my favourite day at the Olympics.

:07:19. > :07:23.Obviously, Jenny winning a medal was amazing but this was my favourite

:07:24. > :07:27.day. Katie has done everybody proud. It is the first time slopestyle has

:07:28. > :07:32.been in the Olympics and what a show. I really hope everybody in the

:07:33. > :07:37.UK, who have been amazing with the support, have enjoyed this and she

:07:38. > :07:43.has done us massively proud. And it is a learning curve, Katie is only

:07:44. > :07:46.18. You have never seen a slopestyle final in the Olympic Games and you

:07:47. > :07:52.have to go away knowing more than you did before. Exactly, it is

:07:53. > :07:55.experience. Katie is only 18, she has two, maybe three Olympics in her

:07:56. > :08:00.and I can't wait to follow that journey and carry that through.

:08:01. > :08:07.2018, we are gunning for that, definitely. You might have both of

:08:08. > :08:12.the Summerhays girls. What is next, straight up to another competition?

:08:13. > :08:17.I think I go back home through a week and then there is an event in

:08:18. > :08:22.Austria called Nine Queens, which is so much fun, I did it last year and

:08:23. > :08:26.it was the best week of my life. It is a bunch of girls on jumps pushing

:08:27. > :08:29.the sport, so I am really looking forward to that. So people can carry

:08:30. > :08:34.on watching you in competition if they can find that. Yes, there are

:08:35. > :08:39.competitions at the end of the week but lots of photos before. Katie,

:08:40. > :08:51.many congratulations and Pat, lovely to meet you. So here is the first

:08:52. > :08:55.ever Olympic champion in slopestyle skiing for women. You nailed it in

:08:56. > :09:02.your first run. It was kind of really. I am really happy to land my

:09:03. > :09:07.first run. It really out today. It started slowing up at the end so I

:09:08. > :09:12.decided to play safe. I cannot believe my first run was the winning

:09:13. > :09:18.run. Canada are having a stonking Winter Olympics, you are flying!

:09:19. > :09:24.Canada is on fire. All the other countries are doing well but, go,

:09:25. > :09:30.Canada! Is the Scotland nose was not skiing injury? No, just an incident

:09:31. > :09:34.I had in my room. With a lampshade! With a lampshade. It did not affect

:09:35. > :09:38.anything you did today so have you had a chance to assess the reaction

:09:39. > :09:44.from back home? Not yet. I turned my phone off early today but I cannot

:09:45. > :09:49.wait to call home. I cannot wait to go and see my parents and just kind

:09:50. > :09:54.of enjoy with them. There are medals # this medal is for everybody, not

:09:55. > :10:01.just me. A great moment for you and a great moment for the sport. Yes,

:10:02. > :10:05.it is huge. Thank you. That is the fourth medal of the games for

:10:06. > :10:10.Canada. If you are trying to watch at work, we are getting a lot of

:10:11. > :10:14.tweets saying that you are. Do not tell the boss but we are very glad

:10:15. > :10:19.you are here. We are going straight back to the curling in the sixth

:10:20. > :10:23.end. We are getting a lot of chat as regard to the situation that both

:10:24. > :10:28.Germany and the Swedish women have been employing which is that their

:10:29. > :10:33.skip is not playing the part of the fourth player, in other words taking

:10:34. > :10:40.the pressure shots. Is this increasingly common in curling these

:10:41. > :10:44.days? I think Jackie would be best answering that. I think some of the

:10:45. > :10:49.older members of the team feel that they have old heads and why

:10:50. > :10:53.shoulders to make a decision on how they play the games but they want

:10:54. > :10:57.the younger guys to play it. That is potentially where it is coming from.

:10:58. > :11:00.They have the experience but they probably aren't playing the shots

:11:01. > :11:06.quite as well as the last player would do so they have chosen to play

:11:07. > :11:18.at all to play alternate places. -- AlterNet places.

:11:19. > :11:28.Germany have the hammer. That one is running through a bit long. Great

:11:29. > :11:32.Britain, if you were with us a few moments ago, tied things up in the

:11:33. > :11:36.fifth end and picked up two after having a couple of chances to do

:11:37. > :11:44.that in the previous ends but Germany on two occasions had stolen

:11:45. > :11:47.one. You can see there that Scott Andrews is playing very well on his

:11:48. > :11:54.drawers. Another one coming down now. Already two red stones at the

:11:55. > :12:00.top of the house, one acting as a guard right on the centre 's line.

:12:01. > :12:02.He will trying come in right behind those two. That is a good shot from

:12:03. > :12:21.Scott Andrews. That is pretty good. Just to bring you up-to-date with

:12:22. > :12:26.how this competition pans out. This is the third match for the great

:12:27. > :12:31.British men. They have won one and lost one. They lost to Sweden, one

:12:32. > :12:34.of the medal favourites. Out of these first three matches against

:12:35. > :12:41.Russia, Sweden and Germany, the Russian and German teams are

:12:42. > :12:46.certainly not highly ranked and the win against Russia was good and they

:12:47. > :12:50.probably thought this win against Germany might be one they could

:12:51. > :12:56.target but it is proving difficult. A tight match, a close match, and

:12:57. > :12:57.the German team, as they did against Canada yesterday, proving pretty

:12:58. > :13:25.tough. Scott Andrews here has just been

:13:26. > :13:29.asked to play a guard. Of course, Great Britain do not have the hammer

:13:30. > :13:34.in this end. They scored a two in the last end to equalise at 3-3 with

:13:35. > :13:39.Germany but then what they do is they give the hammer, or the hammer

:13:40. > :13:48.automatically rolls over to your opposition. We are lying two stones

:13:49. > :13:53.in the house, counting two. The Germans are counting third shot at

:13:54. > :13:59.the moment. Because we do not have the hammer we want to cover up the

:14:00. > :14:05.front of the house, four feet that we would talk about, that four foot

:14:06. > :14:08.space between the centre line with two feet either side to try and make

:14:09. > :14:17.it difficult for the Germans to score.

:14:18. > :14:27.We are just going to keep replacing the guard at the guard front here.

:14:28. > :14:36.-- keep replacing the guard at the front here. What will they have said

:14:37. > :14:39.at half-time? It is only two or three shots into this end but

:14:40. > :14:43.already I think the boys look more comfortable and it is amazing what

:14:44. > :14:46.that fifth end break can do. The coach will often say to you, the

:14:47. > :14:52.game looked pretty dodgy in the first half of that five ends but I

:14:53. > :14:57.have to give Great Britain their due, they were trying to create ends

:14:58. > :15:00.for them to score big. Unfortunately the Germans were answering every

:15:01. > :15:03.question that they were asked and I'm sure they coach said to them

:15:04. > :15:10.they should hold strong because at some point they would pull off a

:15:11. > :15:16.couple of scores of two in the game. They are performing well enough.

:15:17. > :15:18.They will have had a quick drink and some re-fuelling and they will be

:15:19. > :15:31.ready for the second half of this game. The game, of course, roughly

:15:32. > :15:37.takes about two and a half hours to play. 73 minutes each team has to

:15:38. > :15:42.perform. They also get an extra minute for one technical time-out

:15:43. > :15:46.with their coach. It is a long time for them to concentrate and they

:15:47. > :15:58.need to refuel which they generally do at the fifth end break. The

:15:59. > :16:08.German skip is playing third. A nice shot from him, very good.

:16:09. > :16:17.He played a nice out-turn to draw there, sitting right on the one

:16:18. > :16:25.foot, that means the white centre circle where the Olympic rings. Greg

:16:26. > :16:28.Drummond is trying to respond. He will be happy with the way he has

:16:29. > :16:32.been playing, not just in this match but yesterday both games were really

:16:33. > :16:37.strong performances from him. They are working hard on this. Yes, they

:16:38. > :16:42.heard the boys calling top eight and I do not think it is even going to

:16:43. > :16:49.make top eight. It is a little one. Unlucky.

:16:50. > :16:59.Greg Drummond has been playing very well through the first three rounds

:17:00. > :17:08.of this competition. As we know it can turn so quickly in this fickle

:17:09. > :17:17.game called curling. It really is a game of patience, holding your

:17:18. > :17:21.nerves. You can play nine ends of curling and it can be down to the

:17:22. > :17:24.last end and the last owner will win you the game so it is a game of

:17:25. > :17:33.patience and a lot of good shotmaking as well. Just a little

:17:34. > :17:41.tap there. He was trying to freeze right up against is owned stone. --

:17:42. > :17:52.against his own stone. This is about really small margins and you have to

:17:53. > :17:55.also be able to maintain that sort of concentration effort throughout

:17:56. > :17:57.the whole match and nine games in the round robin and hopefully on

:17:58. > :18:16.into the medal matches. Not sure what the boys are thinking

:18:17. > :18:23.about here but they are looking at hitting this front one here, pushing

:18:24. > :18:49.it down to try and take the yellows. David Murdoch is going to drive that

:18:50. > :18:55.front red stone hopefully onto the face of the yellow to lift the two

:18:56. > :18:59.of them out of the house. Unfortunately his take-out

:19:00. > :19:10.percentage at the moment is only 25% so he could do with a good one here.

:19:11. > :19:13.A great effort by he only just got one there. That has kind of been the

:19:14. > :19:20.story of his match so far. Almost but not quite. You can tell by his

:19:21. > :19:23.face there. At least he is smiling now. The demeanour is just a little

:19:24. > :19:37.different since the chat at half-time. That was so close there.

:19:38. > :19:41.Germany have the hammer here. They have to be careful as well. They

:19:42. > :20:00.have responded well. The Germans only have one shot here

:20:01. > :20:06.and they have got last shot advantage and they do not want to

:20:07. > :20:11.just score one so they want to bring their stones right into the house

:20:12. > :20:14.alongside that other one but if they do not get it in the right place and

:20:15. > :20:21.they could leave Dave another hit to get another yellow out. Stone

:20:22. > :20:26.placement is so key at this point in the game. You can see the difference

:20:27. > :20:31.there in the take outs. Felix has a 90% statistic on his take-out 's --

:20:32. > :20:38.take outs and a very high statistic for his drawers. He is performing

:20:39. > :20:42.very well at the minute, 93%. They are just watching this one, laying

:20:43. > :21:00.off it. Now they are trying to sweep it in. That polled more than I think

:21:01. > :21:04.he anticipated there. -- pulled. I think he wanted to catch his own

:21:05. > :21:08.yellow but we saw him saying that he thought it pulled a lot quicker but

:21:09. > :21:36.it is her pretty good position for him.

:21:37. > :21:51.So they are just going to put a garden here to block the way? Dave

:21:52. > :22:00.is electing to God. -- guard. He is playing an in-turn here. He is just

:22:01. > :22:08.asking for a little bit less ice. He does not think he needs to have that

:22:09. > :22:13.much. I guess he wants to leave this high enough that it would not allow

:22:14. > :22:24.the German skip to draw in there for a second shot. He must prefer this

:22:25. > :22:27.in turn to his out because he could potentially have taken the other

:22:28. > :22:32.hand over and played in out-turn to draw and they will have to sweep

:22:33. > :22:42.this hard to get it across the line. They are working hard on it. That is

:22:43. > :22:46.a nice shot there. Yes, some good sweeping, some good teamwork. It

:22:47. > :22:51.looked as though it was going to be a bit shorter one point but it is

:22:52. > :22:59.not bad at all. Now they are having a look. I think the only shot I see

:23:00. > :23:03.left here is that yellow that we see at the top of the house here on the

:23:04. > :23:12.left-hand side they could potentially drive that into the

:23:13. > :23:28.pack. They are just going to check the angle of that now.

:23:29. > :23:37.Unlike Dave's shot, when he was trying to drive a shot in earlier in

:23:38. > :23:42.the game, the Germans have the lucky advantage of the fact that it is

:23:43. > :23:51.their own shot that they are going to be driving in. What about the

:23:52. > :24:02.danger of... ? Drive it down in here and then hopefully take out these

:24:03. > :24:07.two red stones, if they have that possibility to score more than one.

:24:08. > :24:18.The downside, if he doesn't judge this right? I think the yellow in

:24:19. > :24:31.the house is going to jam anyway. It shouldn't be a big issue. The weight

:24:32. > :24:40.they are throwing should be to tap the yellow in and just score his

:24:41. > :24:47.two. They have done really well. A really good shot from Schulze, well

:24:48. > :24:56.thought through with his skip, and they get their two. Not being

:24:57. > :25:06.greedy. Playing the end as it panned out. And as you said earlier, get

:25:07. > :25:14.your two, forced the one, get your two, force the one, you will win.

:25:15. > :25:18.5-3 after six. Good to see Dave Murdoch tell the team that it was a

:25:19. > :25:22.good end, because it was a good end. The only thing they can take from

:25:23. > :25:25.that is that the German skip once again answered the questions that

:25:26. > :25:34.have been asked. That could easily have been a one to Germany, he

:25:35. > :25:37.played a fantastic shot. Schulze is working well, the two of them know

:25:38. > :25:40.each other pretty well but John Jahr and him are making good decisions

:25:41. > :25:47.and he is the one who is executing the shots, doing really well,

:25:48. > :25:52.shooting 94%. Hazel asked us earlier about these teams switching

:25:53. > :25:58.positions and, as we said, Johnny has got the experience and is quite

:25:59. > :26:03.happy to lead the team as a skip, but young Felix is playing some

:26:04. > :26:04.fantastic shotmaking. And that is a wise decision, for this team to work

:26:05. > :26:21.in that format. So if anybody has any questions out

:26:22. > :26:27.there to ask, do post them to #lovecurling, and hopefully at some

:26:28. > :26:31.point they will make their way to Steve and I and we will be able to

:26:32. > :26:35.answer your questions. Again, if anybody out there is watching the

:26:36. > :26:46.Great Britain boys curling at the moment and fancy having a try.

:26:47. > :26:49.Www.trycurling.com is a fantastic website to go on to, it tells you

:26:50. > :26:52.all about the game and the equipment you need and you can pop your

:26:53. > :26:58.postcode in and find out where your nearest ice rink is. There are ice

:26:59. > :27:05.allocations booked all over England, Scotland and Wales. Have a look and

:27:06. > :27:09.go and try the game of curling, a great sport to be played by young

:27:10. > :27:12.and old, and if you have got the flair for the game, then who knows?

:27:13. > :27:19.You could be the next person competing for your country for Great

:27:20. > :27:28.Britain at the Olympics. Everybody can dream. Absolutely. Look at this

:27:29. > :27:32.guy here, he had completely retired and that was, what, 15 years ago?

:27:33. > :27:37.And now back representing his country at the Olympic Games. I am

:27:38. > :27:47.delighted to say we are joined in the commentary box by Greg Reidy --

:27:48. > :27:53.Craig Reidy. Your thoughts at Sochi, you have had a good look around the

:27:54. > :27:58.venues could you not you are in here a couple of days ago. I was, the

:27:59. > :28:02.venues are just terrific. Practically everything is brand-new,

:28:03. > :28:07.conditions are outstanding. I think the whole thing is great. And as it

:28:08. > :28:12.gets warmer over the next few days, I think conditions might change a

:28:13. > :28:19.bit up the mountain, but here in the curling hall, packed with

:28:20. > :28:25.spectators, good sport. I was asked yesterday when I was doing an

:28:26. > :28:28.interview on the radio, one IOC member had mentioned that the crowds

:28:29. > :28:33.were not so enthusiastic, but certainly here at the curling, it is

:28:34. > :28:36.a small venue and has been for most of the time and the Russian crowd

:28:37. > :28:41.have been playing their part, it has been a great atmosphere, so I cannot

:28:42. > :28:47.comment on other venues but here, it has been good. The figure skating

:28:48. > :28:51.team event, when Russia won their gold medal, that really set the

:28:52. > :28:57.place alight. It was a terrific atmosphere. And many thousands were

:28:58. > :29:04.around the medal Plaza when they got Russia's first goal. I think they

:29:05. > :29:08.were worried at first that they wouldn't pull in the crowds but we

:29:09. > :29:13.have had terrific support watching the curling. It is very exciting,

:29:14. > :29:19.and particularly when Russia play, it is noisy. Very much so. And it

:29:20. > :29:32.adds to the atmosphere of this ice cube venue -- Ice Cube. And has the

:29:33. > :29:36.ice being good? It has been very good. I spoke to the boys earlier

:29:37. > :29:38.and they are happy with the weight, it is consistent from start to

:29:39. > :29:45.finish and they are getting some nice draws out there. Maybe a couple

:29:46. > :29:49.of tactical errors a couple of pence ago. I think David had an

:29:50. > :29:54.unnecessary miss when he chose the wrong is shot but I am not an

:29:55. > :30:00.expert. I would agree, he tried the big corner which didn't work and I

:30:01. > :30:04.think he could have played an attack and it might have turned the game

:30:05. > :30:08.earlier. We might have to ask him that at the end, when the interview

:30:09. > :30:12.him, to see what his thoughts were. Quite often, tactics are fantastic

:30:13. > :30:16.but if you are not confident of the shot you are playing, you don't play

:30:17. > :30:20.it. It was strange, Steve and I said that, he is playing the draw shot

:30:21. > :30:26.and the tag back shots very well, so it will be interesting to see what

:30:27. > :30:32.he thought. Lets hope they are all infused by Jenny Jones' medal, which

:30:33. > :30:37.was wonderful for the spirit in the team. I was so pleased for her. I

:30:38. > :30:44.think the point, Jenny Jones included, to reiterate, when you get

:30:45. > :30:47.to any Olympic Games, the fact that you are here and in this

:30:48. > :30:52.competition, they're rather stronger and weaker teams, but on any day,

:30:53. > :30:56.anyone can beat anyone else and they have to take that attitude. We would

:30:57. > :30:59.have been guilty of the same, looking at this match against

:31:00. > :31:04.Germany and thinking it is a match we should win. As we can see, far

:31:05. > :31:08.from it. You definitely have to give a lot of respect to every team that

:31:09. > :31:12.is out there. They are the best in the country that are competing.

:31:13. > :31:16.Maybe on paper, you should be thinking we are the stronger team,

:31:17. > :31:21.but everyone is out there giving it absolutely everything they have got.

:31:22. > :31:27.All sports are different. I watched the downhill and without a doubt,

:31:28. > :31:31.Bodi Miller -- Bode Miller was favoured by distance and he missed

:31:32. > :31:40.by about two feet on one of the corners and came in at number six. I

:31:41. > :31:43.mean, the margins are so small. If you make one mistake, you lose

:31:44. > :31:54.speed, and he was the best in the world.

:31:55. > :32:16.I was just going to say one more question to Craig, but he is leaving

:32:17. > :32:26.hers. That about leaving us. Just watching Greg Drummond. Nice shot

:32:27. > :32:31.from him. It was good to have Craig into Sears, he is an avid curling

:32:32. > :32:38.fan and has been for many years -- in to see us. A fellow Scot.

:32:39. > :32:44.Yes, when I asked him if he wanted to comment have a chat off Mike, he

:32:45. > :32:49.said, don't ask me about the curling and as soon as we get him in, he

:32:50. > :32:54.wants to talk about the curling! Another nice shot from the German

:32:55. > :33:00.skip. At 48 years of age, he is loving this, loving being here,

:33:01. > :33:07.responding to the situation he finds himself in. They gave Canada a real

:33:08. > :33:11.match yesterday and they are giving Great Britain and David Murdoch

:33:12. > :33:17.something to think about here. I think there has been a lot of talk

:33:18. > :33:21.about our sport of curling and how it is really changing dynamics now

:33:22. > :33:27.and it is much more geared towards the younger player, but it is quite

:33:28. > :33:31.enlightening to see Johnny out there at 48 years old competing with the

:33:32. > :33:36.Young Boys in front of him, and himself still performing very well.

:33:37. > :33:40.Very sensible of him to take their head, where there is less sweeping

:33:41. > :33:44.involved and leaving the energetic step to the youngsters but it is

:33:45. > :33:48.good to see, I have said time and again, this is a sport for young and

:33:49. > :33:52.old and he is competing at the highest level possible, here at the

:33:53. > :33:59.Olympic Games. Well, he wouldn't thank you for saying he has given

:34:00. > :34:05.himself a lighter duties. He says he has been training like he has never

:34:06. > :34:09.done before. Swimming a kilometre a day and also been doing two hours of

:34:10. > :34:15.curling and at the weekend, trying to work with the team. So he has

:34:16. > :34:24.taken his Olympic quest very seriously indeed and, so far, so

:34:25. > :34:29.good. No stones in play at the moment. Great Britain, of course,

:34:30. > :34:38.with the hammer, which is the last stone advantage here. I think we

:34:39. > :34:41.will see Dave trying to utilise... There is a high red stone out of the

:34:42. > :34:44.house and he will want to come in around behind this and hopefully get

:34:45. > :35:18.a mistake from Germany. HAZEL IRVINE: As this stone by Dave

:35:19. > :35:23.Murdoch rolls down the ice, we are not going to get a chance on this

:35:24. > :35:26.programme to see the end of this particular end, the seventh. It

:35:27. > :35:31.looks as though Great Britain are placed to take at least one, though,

:35:32. > :35:35.in this very tense match against the Germans. We are going to be changing

:35:36. > :35:39.channels very soon. It does continue right now on the red button but we

:35:40. > :35:44.have to leave you and we will do so with the headlines from this

:35:45. > :35:49.morning. It has been a very eventful morning. Britain's 18-year-old Katie

:35:50. > :35:52.Summerhayes, well, she missed out on a ski slope style medal despite a

:35:53. > :35:59.spectacular second run, the judges ranking her seventh today.

:36:00. > :36:02.But Dara Howell made light of pretty difficult conditions to win the

:36:03. > :36:06.gold, continuing the Canadian domination of the freestyle skiing

:36:07. > :36:09.in these Games. Meanwhile, British cross-country

:36:10. > :36:13.skier Andrew Musgrave is through to the quarterfinals of the sprint

:36:14. > :36:18.after earning a top 30 finish in the opening heat. He races again at

:36:19. > :36:21.12:25pm your time. And let me point you in the direction of some of the

:36:22. > :36:25.other tasty morsels on offer from this day at the Olympic Games,

:36:26. > :36:41.another seven gold medals to be one before the day is out. Jonathan has

:36:42. > :36:43.plenty more action, including the curling. He has speed skating,

:36:44. > :36:45.snowboarding and the winning's Lodz. Then Clare Balding will have the

:36:46. > :36:47.men's halfpipe final and Sarah Takanashi, Japan's big hope for a

:36:48. > :36:50.first-ever women's ski jumping gold. Ski slopestyle, it has been

:36:51. > :37:16.quite a morning. Brilliant and brutal, roll on the men's event.
