:00:41. > :00:48.Good morning from the Ice Cube curling Center as the band strikes

:00:49. > :00:54.up and we get ready for day six of the curling competition. It is nine

:00:55. > :00:58.o'clock here in Sochi. It is well before dawn in yours. If you have

:00:59. > :01:04.set your alarm clock to coincide with our coverage of day six, we

:01:05. > :01:07.salute you. We reckon you have made the right decision. This is a

:01:08. > :01:15.critical morning for the medal hopes of Team GB. Eve Muirhead's team know

:01:16. > :01:21.what it is like to win a world title but they are walking on thin ice in

:01:22. > :01:27.their hopes for Olympic gold. They cannot afford any slip-ups against

:01:28. > :01:34.China. James Woods is a big noise in Freestyle Skiing. This is his big

:01:35. > :01:43.moment in free slopestyle. And there are not one but two medal hopes in

:01:44. > :01:48.skeleton for Team GB. Lizzy Yarnold is ranked number one in the world

:01:49. > :01:53.while Shelley Rudman won Silver eight years ago. We will see their

:01:54. > :02:00.opening two runs at the Sanki Sliding Centre today. And in the

:02:01. > :02:05.thick of things at the Ice Cube curling Center, David Murdoch's men

:02:06. > :02:13.will meet the USA at ten o'clock, your time. We have got the sleaze

:02:14. > :02:18.sculpts -- ski slopestyle after six. In the meantime, we're focusing on

:02:19. > :02:24.events here. It is getting a bit twitchy for Eve Muirhead and Great

:02:25. > :02:33.Britain team. With one win and two defeats against Sweden and Canada,

:02:34. > :02:37.they cannot afford to make too many more mistakes. Only the top four

:02:38. > :02:42.teams go through at the end of the round-robin phase next week. With

:02:43. > :02:47.Great Britain sitting seventh in the table, there is much work to be

:02:48. > :02:52.done. Jackie Lockhart is a four-time Olympian in curling. She has been

:02:53. > :02:56.living and breathing every moment. Let's talk first of all about that

:02:57. > :03:02.dramatic last stone conclusion against the Canadians last night.

:03:03. > :03:06.That was a ding-dong of a game last night. A lot of people will be

:03:07. > :03:12.talking about that shot for a long time to come. It was not the right

:03:13. > :03:16.shot to play. Eve supports the thought that the middle red would

:03:17. > :03:21.have stayed. Maybe in hindsight she should have gone for the draw. And

:03:22. > :03:26.taken the Canadians into an extra end. I saw the momentum changing.

:03:27. > :03:30.The Canadians were getting a bit twitchy. There were a couple of

:03:31. > :03:37.misses. If Eve had put the pressure on them, she may have stolen it.

:03:38. > :03:41.This game may come back to haunt us. There is not much wriggle room for

:03:42. > :03:46.Eve Muirhead. Realistically, how many more matches could Britain

:03:47. > :03:54.afford to lose? We really don't want to lose any more than one or two. If

:03:55. > :04:00.we lose two we could be relying on teams playing for us. These girls

:04:01. > :04:03.really have to remember what they have practised. They have done all

:04:04. > :04:07.the training, all the preparation. They have to go out there, believe

:04:08. > :04:14.they can do it and hopefully the wins will come. Be -- they are the

:04:15. > :04:21.world champions. What is missing from their performances so far? Eve

:04:22. > :04:25.Muirhead has a lot of pressure on her shoulders. Much more than she

:04:26. > :04:29.ever had in Vancouver. I always said before she came out here, it was how

:04:30. > :04:33.the girls were going to handle the pressure. She's not quite the Eve we

:04:34. > :04:41.are used to seeing. She is very confident. She just seems a little

:04:42. > :04:44.bit edgy. I am hoping the coach will have said to her, relax and enjoy

:04:45. > :04:50.the games, and hopefully the technical ability of throwing the

:04:51. > :04:58.stone will come for her. What have you made of the Chinese? The Chinese

:04:59. > :05:05.are not adverse to this level of competition. They have brought in a

:05:06. > :05:09.Canadian to help them. They have had a couple of slack years where they

:05:10. > :05:14.have not made the play-off stages. This Canadian guy is bringing their

:05:15. > :05:19.confidence back up. They should not be underestimated. We're going to

:05:20. > :05:23.get to this match. You are going to attempt a personal best to get into

:05:24. > :05:28.the commentary position to join Steve Cram. Steve, she is on her

:05:29. > :05:39.way! Letup for good things in this one, shall we? -- let us hope.

:05:40. > :05:46.Yes, I think obviously it is a scenario we are all saying this is a

:05:47. > :05:52.must win game. I think Jackie is right. You look at all of these

:05:53. > :05:56.matches and they are all tough. If you lose this one, you have lost

:05:57. > :06:01.three matches. You could still go through with five wins. It just

:06:02. > :06:08.means you are sleeping so much pressure on this young team to do

:06:09. > :06:12.well. They have shown, of course, in championships they cope well with

:06:13. > :06:16.pressure in the past. It is always easy when things are going for you.

:06:17. > :06:23.It is how you respond when things are not going for you. Eve takes all

:06:24. > :06:29.of that responsibility. She said after that loss that that is the way

:06:30. > :06:33.it is for the skip. You go for the big shots and you are the hero or

:06:34. > :06:41.you only person everybody questioning. She accepts that. Let

:06:42. > :06:45.us hope this morning they do as the men did against Switzerland. Play a

:06:46. > :06:58.tight game, control at all the way through. Switzerland are a good

:06:59. > :07:03.team. So are these Chinese. A lot of experience. And this team, the one

:07:04. > :07:16.that has come back together, with Betty Wang as skip. You playing the

:07:17. > :07:19.lead stones. Olympic bronze medallists last time around. The

:07:20. > :07:24.last couple of years have not been as successful. Signs that they are

:07:25. > :07:28.starting to play well again. They have had a couple of good tournament

:07:29. > :07:36.wins in preparing for these Olympics. They just needed to get

:07:37. > :07:41.off to a good start this morning. That is the key. Do not make any

:07:42. > :07:50.mistakes early on. Do not get behind. I was watching them about

:07:51. > :07:58.half an hour ago when they were practising. Both skips get to do

:07:59. > :08:07.their jaw to the button to determine who gets the hammer. Eve's was well

:08:08. > :08:11.short. In some ways that may be a good omen. Until this point she has

:08:12. > :08:17.been doing that very well in each match. That meant that China started

:08:18. > :08:32.this match with the hammer at the first end.

:08:33. > :08:42.Before the game started there were a few high-fives. Just trying to get

:08:43. > :08:49.themselves hyped up, psyched up, whichever you would like to call it.

:08:50. > :08:51.They certainly seemed as though they were coming out this morning

:08:52. > :09:01.understanding the situation they are in. Hopefully ready to play a little

:09:02. > :09:08.better than they have done so far. The first bit of real work for the

:09:09. > :09:18.sweepers. That is not bad. They have done well. Almost there.

:09:19. > :09:29.Generally a figure Vicki Adams has been playing pretty well at second.

:09:30. > :09:36.-- generally I think. And it has really been just some of the

:09:37. > :09:40.decision making, and some of the shots that have not come off, that

:09:41. > :09:44.have left Britain in the situation they are in. There were lots of big

:09:45. > :09:52.shots played against Canada. It always seemed as though it would go

:09:53. > :09:56.down to the wire. They were being made to react to Canada a little too

:09:57. > :10:06.much and were chasing the game, I think. So, Anna Sloan... I thought

:10:07. > :10:17.she was quite generous in her interview afterwards. The first

:10:18. > :10:22.stone she had sent down on the last end, she took responsibility for

:10:23. > :10:24.that. She said it was not just about Eve's. It was how they had built it

:10:25. > :10:44.up until that point. Not such a good shot from the left

:10:45. > :10:53.to begin with. A little tentative. This is the union. -- Liu Yan.

:10:54. > :11:04.Somebody Betty Wang has relied on a lot. Delighted to have her back in

:11:05. > :11:16.her team. That is a nice shot for her to begin with. Right behind the

:11:17. > :11:19.stone left there by Anna Sloan. Jackie has finally made it. It only

:11:20. > :11:31.took about half an hour to get down the stairs! Was not maybe 500 metres

:11:32. > :11:36.away and not 50 yards? ! Vicaut starting to come in. There is a fair

:11:37. > :11:41.bit of British support this morning as well. -- the crowd is starting to

:11:42. > :11:55.come in. Just three matches this morning. That is better. Canada are

:11:56. > :11:59.playing Denmark, and Switzerland against Sweden will be an

:12:00. > :12:08.interesting one. Switzerland and Canada with an unbeaten record so

:12:09. > :12:15.far of three wins. So Eve's and find themselves in equal seventh at the

:12:16. > :12:32.moment. It is still early. China with two wins and one loss.

:12:33. > :12:40.I'm not sure how much time they spend with the Chinese men's team.

:12:41. > :12:46.The men take this competition by surprise. They top the men's

:12:47. > :12:54.standings. I'm not sure most people would have predicted that after four

:12:55. > :13:02.matches. Yes, I think the fact they have got in a Canadian coach, Marcel

:13:03. > :13:07.Rock, multi-world champion himself, probably has made a huge difference.

:13:08. > :13:11.All of these countries now are definitely pulling in the cultures

:13:12. > :13:26.from all over the world to make any sort of improvement in the game.

:13:27. > :13:41.That stone, I am not sure whether it curled more than anticipated.

:13:42. > :13:48.She certainly wears her heart on her sleeve. You can definitely tell when

:13:49. > :14:00.Eve is not at all impressed by her shots.

:14:01. > :14:16.So, China here with the hammer. They are going to play and in-turn drawl

:14:17. > :14:32.-- draw to make it difficult for Eve to get to it. This Chinese team was

:14:33. > :14:38.put together a good few years ago. Betty Wang, everybody calls her

:14:39. > :14:44.Betty, she has been playing top-level curling for many years. So

:14:45. > :14:51.much experience. They pretty much base themselves in Canada,

:14:52. > :14:56.particularly leading up to'. -- leading up to the games in

:14:57. > :15:04.Vancouver. That has just not come round as much as she would have

:15:05. > :15:08.liked. No, it hasn't. Maybe it will give Eve the opportunity to play it

:15:09. > :15:20.down weight shot and get a little curl at the end, and maybe a flop in

:15:21. > :15:23.behind her on guard at the front. You get the feeling, I was saying

:15:24. > :15:39.and your weight down, it is so important to start well,

:15:40. > :15:46.particularly for Eve A nice shot here would be mission accomplished.

:15:47. > :15:51.She needs to get a couple of good stones early on to settle her down.

:15:52. > :16:06.We only have one game today. We really would like to finish this

:16:07. > :16:12.game on a win. She will have plenty of time to recover for the game

:16:13. > :16:19.tomorrow, but it is a lot of time to wait. I was saying, we cannot afford

:16:20. > :16:27.to have many more losses or we may end up in tie-break situations. This

:16:28. > :16:33.has left Betty for this straightforward shot to get her two

:16:34. > :16:40.here. Did not quite tucked in enough. What you said with Hazel,

:16:41. > :16:44.underlining the point that, given the way some of the results have

:16:45. > :16:51.gone, looking at matches to come, Japan and Korea to come. This is

:16:52. > :16:58.certainly a much they can win, but you have to actually get the wins on

:16:59. > :17:12.the board. Two for China in the first end. Fairly quiet start,

:17:13. > :17:18.really. One or two errant shots, particularly from Anna and Eve. They

:17:19. > :17:27.are going to have to tighten up and be on the game. You cannot come out

:17:28. > :17:32.cold. You cannot let China Spring out. The Chinese team are playing

:17:33. > :17:46.better than they have done over the last couple of years. Into the

:17:47. > :17:54.second end, Britain with the hammer now.

:17:55. > :18:05.This is the quietest we have seen probably in the arena because the

:18:06. > :18:15.Russian women are not playing this morning.

:18:16. > :18:22.That will be quite good for the girls on the ice. They will be able

:18:23. > :18:28.to hear the calls. When the Russian crowd get going, it is very noisy

:18:29. > :18:32.and here. A lot of the girls have to revert to hand signals to let the

:18:33. > :18:46.players know what they want. The calling of the shot. Claire

:18:47. > :18:57.Hamilton, she just wants to lie shy of the rings, short of the rings, to

:18:58. > :19:18.use has stone for cover. -- her stone.

:19:19. > :19:25.I was reading an article this morning about the growth of curling

:19:26. > :19:31.in Asia. We talked about Korea and Japan, the next two matches. Eve has

:19:32. > :19:36.a group of Asian matches here, China, in particular, after the

:19:37. > :19:42.world when and the Olympic bronze medal, you forget about the amount

:19:43. > :19:46.of people who they could call into the game. When you start getting

:19:47. > :19:52.more and more people playing, the standard is going to rise. In one or

:19:53. > :19:55.two provinces, curling is now part of the school programme as well. If

:19:56. > :20:07.you start getting them playing early, who knows where it can go.

:20:08. > :20:11.Without question, the sport that was a minority sport is growing,

:20:12. > :20:19.especially in many other countries. Girls are going to have to work this

:20:20. > :20:22.one hard. Slightly over curling there, came right out the other

:20:23. > :20:50.side. Yue Qingshuang. Just talking about

:20:51. > :20:57.this team that has been together for a while. They lost their third who

:20:58. > :21:01.went off, she got married and went away for a period and is back in

:21:02. > :21:12.this team and I was saying that this experience of -- the experience of

:21:13. > :21:16.these players, they accept that people have been looking at Canada

:21:17. > :21:22.and Sweden and Britain, but the Chinese quartet are well capable of

:21:23. > :21:28.getting any medals. They might fly under the radar, so to speak. Betty,

:21:29. > :21:32.after she lost her third player, main wing man, she did not quite

:21:33. > :21:39.complete as well as she had done. But now she is back, she definitely

:21:40. > :21:43.has strengthened the team again. They are going to have to sweep this

:21:44. > :21:50.very hard to get past the guard. It has passed.

:21:51. > :21:59.That was a nice shot. But it caught too much of it there. They work

:22:00. > :22:06.afraid it was going to catch the guard. It did not pass it by much.

:22:07. > :22:21.Even would have liked her shooter, the yellow stone, to stay in the

:22:22. > :22:26.house -- Eve. The girls desperately trying hard to score a two here if

:22:27. > :22:46.possible. I know we keep talking about a game

:22:47. > :22:55.of margins, already this morning, the Chinese team making the shots

:22:56. > :23:02.already, getting the stones anyplace they need to. From the British

:23:03. > :23:05.perspective, no need to panic, only the second end, for goodness sake

:23:06. > :23:20.but they will be aware that they are in for a game here. Vicki Adams

:23:21. > :23:24.trying to come in on the other side. Just over curled a little bit at the

:23:25. > :23:32.end. It is difficult at this stage in the game whether there is more

:23:33. > :23:35.curl on the ice today but that is a couple of shots that we have seen

:23:36. > :23:42.over curled. We saw it in the men's game last night. All of the finished

:23:43. > :23:55.definitely comes as the weight is coming off the stone at the end.

:23:56. > :24:04.This is coming down a similar line. They will just want to follow the

:24:05. > :24:10.stone in, sit right on top. Again, this looks like it is doing a

:24:11. > :24:17.similar shot to Vicki's. It is swinging a lot more.

:24:18. > :24:30.Yeah, that is not the best shot in the world. It has left the red open

:24:31. > :24:33.for us to try and tap back. Eve will not be disappointed if she can tap

:24:34. > :24:34.its back and roll across to the right hand side of the sheet and

:24:35. > :24:57.stay in the house. The line is looking good at the

:24:58. > :25:09.moment. They are playing on sheet C which is the best one for Jackie and

:25:10. > :25:18.I to look down. Very good. You can just tell that Eve has taken on the

:25:19. > :25:22.responsibility. There needs to be a little bit more of that. They will

:25:23. > :25:26.have to work with each other, encourage each other. Very much so.

:25:27. > :26:11.This is about building up the end. Nice shot. Great Britain still one.

:26:12. > :26:29.Marcel, we used to call him Marcel The Shot Rock. I think Eve was just

:26:30. > :26:36.asking Vicki to cup in on those -- to come in on those two. She knows

:26:37. > :26:44.she may well move around a little. I think she is looking to try and tap

:26:45. > :26:46.this. Anna not at all confident that she has the cold to come in. This is

:26:47. > :27:09.tight. That is what I mean. Anna knows it

:27:10. > :27:20.is not a good shot. Eve was crying saying, it's OK. -- was kind. Might

:27:21. > :27:26.have been better to play a more controlled weight, even if you just

:27:27. > :27:32.tap it. That unfortunately, the tighter ice took. Those are to the

:27:33. > :27:51.centre, it seems to be pulling a lot more. A decision here for China on

:27:52. > :28:02.how they try and remove that yellow stone. The top red is protecting

:28:03. > :28:06.it. And the other red at the right-hand side of the yellow stone

:28:07. > :28:12.there, is not the easiest hit in the world, if you're stone draws at all,

:28:13. > :28:20.you will hit the face and go out the back and still leave the yellow

:28:21. > :28:23.there. I think Betty has chosen to come down onto this shot here to try

:28:24. > :28:42.and tap this shot and take it back. It is obviously a good shot. There

:28:43. > :28:45.is or is the chance that if you get this a little bit wrong, it could

:28:46. > :28:56.knock her own back as well or instead of.

:28:57. > :29:03.This needs to come round. The stone is holding out at the moment. We

:29:04. > :29:07.have seen it all week. If you play with just a little bit of weight to

:29:08. > :29:15.the stones, you do not get the result. It stays really straight on

:29:16. > :29:25.the four foot lines. I think the skip said straightaway that it was

:29:26. > :29:30.wide. That has given Eve a bit of an opportunity. We keep repeating

:29:31. > :29:37.ourselves, but this is the sort of thing which did not grow quite their

:29:38. > :29:43.way against Canada even. They had chancers -- did not go quite their

:29:44. > :30:07.way. The women's coach there David Haigh. Eve looking to get as much of

:30:08. > :30:10.this stone on the face and a little role to the left-hand side of the

:30:11. > :30:14.picture. She does not want to leave a double on here. Catch the first

:30:15. > :30:40.one, she gets by. It has been a tentative start from

:30:41. > :30:48.Eve Muirhead. Still not a bad shot at the end of the day. We have three

:30:49. > :30:52.Great Britain stones in there. There is only one lonely Chinese stone at

:30:53. > :31:06.the top of the house. Betty having to make a decision.

:31:07. > :31:13.I am not actually sure what she is going to do here. I would have been

:31:14. > :31:25.attempting a hate on the shot. -- a hit. Looking down, I may have been

:31:26. > :31:34.attempting hitting this stone to roll across here. And sit in. I

:31:35. > :31:42.think at this stage you have two certainly remove one of the GB

:31:43. > :31:49.stones if you were China. She has obviously just checked before this.

:31:50. > :31:54.She is going to play the freeze on the other side. Great call at the

:31:55. > :32:02.start of this game. She does not get this right, it may really open the

:32:03. > :32:11.door for Eve Muirhead. It certainly will. She has to be right on this.

:32:12. > :32:18.That is a nice shot. Certainly gives a chance for a too. -- two. A fairly

:32:19. > :32:37.straightforward one for Eve. I guess anywhere in the house for

:32:38. > :32:42.Betty to out count the yellows was good. It should be a simple draw for

:32:43. > :33:12.a two here. A positive throw. Even trying to come down and take

:33:13. > :33:14.the second shot here. You can hear the girls calling. Hopefully when

:33:15. > :33:25.the weight comes off it. There we go. Very good. So Eve Muirhead

:33:26. > :33:36.responding well and taking a two. That will make her feel a lot

:33:37. > :33:41.better. So it is all tied after two. You probably just heard Eve say that

:33:42. > :33:45.that was a good end. I think she is trying to take this on this morning,

:33:46. > :33:49.trying to encourage the rest of the team. Being a bit more verbal. They

:33:50. > :34:01.have not played all of their shots as well as they would have liked.

:34:02. > :34:07.They are tied with China. So, a crucial match. I keep saying this.

:34:08. > :34:11.The next three games, China, Korea, Japan, you win three on the run, and

:34:12. > :34:17.all of a sudden everything looks a little better, a lot rosier. You

:34:18. > :34:24.lose this one and that will be three losses from the first four matches.

:34:25. > :34:27.That would not be a terminal situation for the British women yet

:34:28. > :34:34.but it would make life very difficult indeed. So, Claire

:34:35. > :34:42.Hamilton setting yourself in the third. China with the hammer. --

:34:43. > :35:17.setting us off. Julianne playing lead for China. --

:35:18. > :35:26.Zhou. This is the quietest it has been this morning. A couple of big

:35:27. > :35:38.Chinese flags hanging down the far end, the opposite end to which

:35:39. > :35:41.Jackie and I are sitting. -- to wear Jackie and I are sitting. There has

:35:42. > :35:48.been a great atmosphere in here generally. Neither of the Russian

:35:49. > :35:54.team is doing particularly well. The Russian women have played four games

:35:55. > :35:58.now. Most have played three. All ten teams cannot play at once. They have

:35:59. > :36:28.had two wins and two losses. It is funny, obviously, the impact

:36:29. > :36:37.curling is having, hopefully at home, but here as well. Wherever we

:36:38. > :36:41.went yesterday, people are asking about that shot by Eve Muirhead. It

:36:42. > :36:51.doesn't matter if they were curling fans or not, British or not. It was

:36:52. > :36:54.certainly a talking point. Yes, I think they will be speaking about

:36:55. > :37:01.that shot for a few weeks to come. It was not the right decision. I

:37:02. > :37:06.thought the shot was on and I guess Eve did. I spoke to some of the

:37:07. > :37:21.support staff this morning and they were not quite so sure. Maybe even

:37:22. > :37:32.rushed it slightly and laid it a tiny bit high. It never came. Nice

:37:33. > :37:38.shot. Vicki Adams doing well. Imagine if it had come off. It would

:37:39. > :37:43.have gone down as one of the great shots. Yes. And that would have been

:37:44. > :37:49.the boost the girls were needing to continue in this competition. But I

:37:50. > :38:01.am sure they will have put it behind them now.

:38:02. > :38:09.I definitely see a lot of swing in this center line. The stones are

:38:10. > :38:32.moving more than I have seen them moving.

:38:33. > :38:53.The girls choosing to come in behind these two. -- the two guards at the

:38:54. > :38:57.front of the house. Of course, we don't have the last stone here, so

:38:58. > :39:02.we have to try to utilise whatever is up front to give us some

:39:03. > :39:27.protection. Hopefully we will get a steel here.

:39:28. > :39:33.Betty happy to indicate to her team to play the double rape. -- double

:39:34. > :40:00.rape. Yue playing second. Takes the two

:40:01. > :40:07.away at the front. Eve just asking Anna Sloan to put the guard open in

:40:08. > :40:11.front again. -- to put the guard in front again.

:40:12. > :40:42.She is asking for an inch over the centre. They really need this one to

:40:43. > :40:45.sit. That is not bad. Pretty good. Yes, well left by the girls. They

:40:46. > :41:03.knew it had the weight. Liu Yan playing third. This is

:41:04. > :41:48.pretty straight. It stays in there. Anna Sloan looking to shift this

:41:49. > :41:57.stone and role in behind her own. That is a pity. Yes, the girls tried

:41:58. > :42:04.hard there to hold it, keep it on that side of the house. It will give

:42:05. > :42:14.China the opportunity to try and lift the two of them forget that hit

:42:15. > :42:19.low in behind their centre. Even if she hits on the nose here and

:42:20. > :42:29.slightly sits in front of the back yellow, that is also a good shot.

:42:30. > :42:31.That is what might happen here. Trying to get the two of them away.

:42:32. > :43:17.It did not quite work. So Eve Muirhead with the chance to

:43:18. > :43:38.make life a little difficult for Betty Wang here.

:43:39. > :44:00.Betty Wang just having a look. Just looking to come right in with this

:44:01. > :44:05.one. She has got that British stone to, operate -- she has got that

:44:06. > :44:32.British stone to come up against. China deciding to play the interim

:44:33. > :44:36.draw here. -- the in turn draw. Quite happy to forget about the two

:44:37. > :44:39.British stones in the house and tried to utilise that front garden.

:44:40. > :45:10.-- try. Yes, she has played this well. Very

:45:11. > :45:16.well. Just runs on a little. Yes, I think she would have liked that to

:45:17. > :45:34.have finished maybe just a stone's with higher. Eve Muirhead will

:45:35. > :45:40.follow this down. This is a chance for Eve to do what she had been

:45:41. > :45:42.doing pretty well. Eve just wants to come down here and sit at the top

:45:43. > :46:05.there. Anna Sloan having the line. She has

:46:06. > :46:11.just gone a little further out than the stone Betty Wang just played. If

:46:12. > :46:21.the weight is good, it will come in. This has certainly got a higher line

:46:22. > :46:28.than Betty's. But when the weight comes off, the poll comes. A little

:46:29. > :46:35.smile for the first time this morning from Eve Muirhead. It is

:46:36. > :46:48.interesting, the track of those two stones. They came out much wider.

:46:49. > :46:57.Eve's stone looked a lot wider. Ban Betty's. Eve's stones of finishing

:46:58. > :47:05.begat the end and that certainly did -- Eve's stones are finishing date

:47:06. > :47:13.at the end. The Chinese skip needs to be careful here. Great Britain

:47:14. > :47:20.lying shot. They have got two in there.

:47:21. > :47:27.The last stone of this third end. Again, much tighter line here from

:47:28. > :47:41.Betty Wang. These stones are taking the finish

:47:42. > :47:48.at the end. She catches the inside of this, she could get a two out of

:47:49. > :47:54.it. Almost. They are all having a look. Maybe. Is that a steal? I

:47:55. > :48:01.think China have got the one. They might have to measure this. That was

:48:02. > :48:09.almost a good shot there from the girls. They are having a close look.

:48:10. > :48:17.Moving that went away, it is definitely between the two. It is

:48:18. > :48:25.not two shots for China. It is obvious that one is not counted.

:48:26. > :48:38.That is what Anna is saying. She is just going to leave them all in. I

:48:39. > :48:45.can understand measuring between, as we look at it, the one above the

:48:46. > :48:49.rings and the yellow. The back one is not counting. Might as well move

:48:50. > :48:55.that out of the way. This could be critical. Either way, a decent

:48:56. > :49:01.result just to give one away. Do they have a steal here? Finally the

:49:02. > :49:22.measuring device is on its way. He is being very polite and taking

:49:23. > :49:29.his time. It is very difficult. It looks like one for China to me. It

:49:30. > :49:51.is very, very close. That swings round without touching

:49:52. > :49:55.the witty stone, it is a shot for China -- the British stone. Might

:49:56. > :50:01.have to measure it a couple of times.

:50:02. > :50:11.His head is in the way. We cannot see what he is doing. There is a

:50:12. > :50:17.dial at the top which will move and he will then spin the measure around

:50:18. > :50:22.to see if any of the stones are in. He is going to take the Chinese

:50:23. > :50:27.stone away, I think. He will come round now to see whether the Chinese

:50:28. > :50:36.stone... He has moved that one which we thought... I think this is going

:50:37. > :50:42.to be a shot for China. Yes, China have one. As we thought. It was very

:50:43. > :50:50.close. That is still not bad, giving just the one away. That will mean

:50:51. > :50:56.China lead 3-2 as we move into the next end. Britain will have the

:50:57. > :51:05.hammer. A good end from Eve Muirhead and her team, starting to warm to

:51:06. > :51:10.this match. Just waiting for official confirmation to go on the

:51:11. > :51:16.scoreboard. I can confirm it for you though.

:51:17. > :51:36.Definitely a shot to China. There it is. The hammer goes to

:51:37. > :51:44.Great Britain as we move into the fourth end.

:51:45. > :51:54.Some nice shots played there. That will make Eve play a lot better. You

:51:55. > :51:59.could tell she was happy with a couple of shots she played as well.

:52:00. > :52:12.It was almost a moral victory in that end. She cut Betty down to one.

:52:13. > :52:20.China almost took two. But Eve put the pressure on.

:52:21. > :52:30.Two other matches out there at the moment. Sweden have taken a 4-1 lead

:52:31. > :52:35.against Switzerland. Don't forget that Switzerland are undefeated so

:52:36. > :52:44.far. Canada are tied up with Denmark. Canada also are undefeated

:52:45. > :52:48.so far. They are 3-3 in their match. We have to keep an eye on all of the

:52:49. > :52:55.other matches. It has a bearing of course on Great Britain. They will

:52:56. > :53:00.want to take care of business and make sure they are not relying on

:53:01. > :53:03.other teams losing to get into at least a tie-break scenario or

:53:04. > :53:22.hopefully into the top four without having to worry about tie-breaks.

:53:23. > :53:33.Both leads playing good shots here. Corner guard initially put up by

:53:34. > :53:40.Claire Hamilton. She has now got to try and utilise the corner guard to

:53:41. > :53:52.put her stack and -- her second stone around behind it.

:53:53. > :54:02.This looks good. Just turning a bit more. Yes, I think the ice is

:54:03. > :54:10.definitely moving more today. That was almost coming out the other

:54:11. > :54:18.side. They do get the chance to practice. They were in here for 30,

:54:19. > :54:25.40 minutes before the match started. Both teams got ten minutes to try

:54:26. > :54:35.and get used to the ice today. It is not the same as playing though. They

:54:36. > :54:41.like to keep themselves in the match. That was almost left too late

:54:42. > :55:03.there, I thought. Eve is going to have to try and

:55:04. > :55:11.clear the front here. We have the hammer in this end and we want to

:55:12. > :55:13.try and keep the front open. Vicki Adams coming down, plenty of weight

:55:14. > :55:24.here. She wanted to push that back onto

:55:25. > :55:27.the other Chinese stone and take both of them out. But she has taken

:55:28. > :56:00.one. She has to put that back in place. A

:56:01. > :56:14.little short, this. Working it well to bring it across.

:56:15. > :56:22.That stone did not quite finished as much as they were hoping it would.

:56:23. > :56:30.It has left half of the red that our GB girls can see. Vicki is being

:56:31. > :56:32.asked to come down here to try and hit it and roll across to the other

:56:33. > :56:51.side of the house. Just a little unlucky. But it is

:56:52. > :57:05.good, sitting there. Vicki Adams has again started well this morning.

:57:06. > :57:13.The Chinese third has been the one who has not been firing on all

:57:14. > :57:26.cylinders so far this morning and has not helped out the skip to much.

:57:27. > :57:32.-- too much. Just going to try and come around the front guard.

:57:33. > :57:40.I would have to say, the Chinese girls here are sticking to their

:57:41. > :57:46.game plan. Other teams, you may well have seen them trying to hit or chip

:57:47. > :57:52.one of the GB yellow stone is out there. But no. These girls must have

:57:53. > :57:57.been happy with the draw weight and happy to guard the one shot they

:57:58. > :58:01.have in the house. They have to be careful they do not leave us small

:58:02. > :58:07.chips and roles and it would just take one mistake from China and GB

:58:08. > :58:17.would then capitalise. We do have last stone here.

:58:18. > :58:26.Anna Sloan having to hold this, try and hold the line, try and get

:58:27. > :58:43.past. That cleans it out of the front and Eve will be trying to get

:58:44. > :58:48.a two here. Still every opportunity. HAZEL IRVINE: We will have to turn

:58:49. > :58:52.ourselves away from the curling with the promise it continues on the red

:58:53. > :58:59.button. If you want to follow this, the our guests. But we have got such

:59:00. > :59:03.a lot to get through today. One of the most exciting mornings from a

:59:04. > :59:08.British perspective of these Olympic Games. If ever there was a morning

:59:09. > :59:13.to take a slightly later train, even a lot later, it could be today. We

:59:14. > :59:51.have three British medal prospects in action.

:59:52. > :59:57.Women's skeleton is raised over four runs. To this morning, to tomorrow.

:59:58. > :00:02.We will be seeing Lizzie Yarnold and Shelley Rudman going for medals in

:00:03. > :00:13.that. This is also the morning ski slopes of Foreman makes its Olympic

:00:14. > :00:16.debut -- skis slopestyle for men. James Woods has been moves and the

:00:17. > :00:27.podium pedigree, but does he have the fitness right now? Lizzy Yarnold

:00:28. > :00:37.is a red-hot favourite for gold in the women's skeleton. She loves the

:00:38. > :00:40.Sankey track. Shelley Rudman is firmly in the reckoning as well. The

:00:41. > :00:46.pace may be slower but the tension levels are pretty high in the ice

:00:47. > :00:55.cube curling Centre. Great Britain men meet the US today. And Elise

:00:56. > :01:01.Christie joins Charlotte Gilmartin in the quarterfinals of the women's

:01:02. > :01:03.500 metres in the short schedule. So much going on this morning. Plenty

:01:04. > :01:26.of options for you as well. Our plan is to keep an eye on

:01:27. > :01:27.everything and bring you the best bits. If you want to do your own

:01:28. > :01:57.thing, you can. We are heading straight up the

:01:58. > :02:02.mountain to the Sanki Sliding Centre. It is they we will find two

:02:03. > :02:10.Olympic champions with five gold medals between them. One, a summer

:02:11. > :02:16.Olympian, and won a winter Olympian. We have got Matthew Pinsent and Amy

:02:17. > :02:20.Williams. Matt, I get the feeling that Amy would rather be competing

:02:21. > :02:26.today. Do not let her anywhere near a sled!

:02:27. > :02:32.It has been a difficult morning for Amy. You have been a bag of nerves

:02:33. > :02:36.all morning? I literally feel physically sick with nerves, with

:02:37. > :02:40.excitement, with this kind of feeling that this was me four years

:02:41. > :02:47.ago about to try to win gold. I sympathise. I know exactly what

:02:48. > :02:52.every athlete is feeling, as you do. They will be gathering in the next

:02:53. > :03:02.ten or 20 minutes. Are we going to see them visualising the course and

:03:03. > :03:05.stuff like that? Yes. They do their final preparations on the sled

:03:06. > :03:10.before they are not allowed to touch them any more. They will do their

:03:11. > :03:15.warm up and preparations. Going through the track in their head.

:03:16. > :03:20.Visualising it all. Going through every single corner. Then relaxing

:03:21. > :03:25.and getting ready. Lizzy Yarnold has been blistering in training. You

:03:26. > :03:32.have been watching a few of the training runs. What kind of shape is

:03:33. > :03:37.she in? She is in all some shape. She is one of the best in the world

:03:38. > :03:45.at the start. She has been doing so well with her line. She is doing

:03:46. > :03:51.well with her coach, Andi Schmid. I spoke to her last night. I tried to

:03:52. > :03:56.stay together, keep calm, keep cool, keep confident. She is in a good

:03:57. > :04:04.place. Do not look at any of the other athletes. We just have to hope

:04:05. > :04:11.that is enough. She gets the choice of what start slot to go for. She

:04:12. > :04:17.has chosen two. Why two in particular? Ella macro you want to

:04:18. > :04:23.go the first off. It is fast. Most people do not opt for number one.

:04:24. > :04:28.They like to see the time of another person, the condition of the track.

:04:29. > :04:37.She was quite tempted by five because that was my number. I told

:04:38. > :04:41.she had to go two. Shelley Rudman is number three. They have got the

:04:42. > :04:48.perfect ice. Shelley Rudman, not quite as good in training, it is

:04:49. > :04:53.fair to say. What do we think about her chances? Yes, Shelley has taken

:04:54. > :04:59.out little bit longer to get used the track. A little bit tricky for

:05:00. > :05:07.her. But she is a very experienced slider. Really good technical. With

:05:08. > :05:11.her equipment, I think she could come shining through. She always

:05:12. > :05:17.does well in the big events. She has got a silver medal already. This is

:05:18. > :05:22.her third Olympics. Keep an eye on her. She could get a medal. Thank

:05:23. > :05:30.you for your views. The first run is less than 90 minutes away.

:05:31. > :05:34.Looking forward to it very much. It is great to get the impression is of

:05:35. > :05:38.Amy. You can feel the nerves. I'm sure that our girls are feeling the

:05:39. > :05:42.same kind of experiences and emotions as they get ready for that

:05:43. > :05:49.run. It is such a big morning. We are looking forward to use ski

:05:50. > :05:53.slopestyle. Ed Leigh joins me. There was talk about the possibility of

:05:54. > :05:56.perhaps bringing this event forward by a few minutes because of the

:05:57. > :06:01.temperatures. I guess there is a slight concern about the integrity

:06:02. > :06:08.of the course. Very warm again. How will the landing areas hold up?

:06:09. > :06:12.Well, as you say, it is fantastic weather for sunbathing but not quite

:06:13. > :06:19.so good for slopestyle. They would be perfect training conditions. But

:06:20. > :06:24.in three or four hours, these landings will probably be six inches

:06:25. > :06:31.deep in slush. The riders leave armholes if they leave -- have a

:06:32. > :06:38.heavy landing. If somebody lands in that whole afterwords, they could

:06:39. > :06:43.get caught up. They are staying with the scheduled at the moment and we

:06:44. > :06:47.will kick off in ten minutes with the first of the qualifying runs.

:06:48. > :06:51.Many looking forward to the appearance of James Woods this

:06:52. > :06:57.morning. What do you understand is the level of fitness he has at the

:06:58. > :07:02.moment? Well, I have been watching training this morning, and he is in

:07:03. > :07:09.there. He is laying down his runs. He does not look quite as fluid as

:07:10. > :07:14.he usually does. He has bruised the socket of his hip joint by pushing

:07:15. > :07:18.the femur into it. There is a little lack of mobility. Once he gets into

:07:19. > :07:22.it, once he settles down, I think we will see him riding to his full

:07:23. > :07:33.potential. There is a nagging doubt for him. A few of the riders have

:07:34. > :07:38.been playing the top echelon of the tricks we are going to see. That was

:07:39. > :07:43.how he injured himself. Whether we will see him attempting that, I am

:07:44. > :07:47.not sure. It is going to be tense. There has been talk about the

:07:48. > :07:59.possibility of a US clean sweep. What about their chances? Nicola

:08:00. > :08:08.Scope is so confident. -- Nicholas Goepper. He was laying it on thick

:08:09. > :08:13.on Twitter yesterday. Gus Kenworthy is in there as well. There are a few

:08:14. > :08:20.other hopefuls. You have got the Australian Russell Henshaw. He is a

:08:21. > :08:30.good all-rounder. At 23 already considered a veteran. And then the

:08:31. > :08:34.three Wells brothers. Two of them could do very well. You talk to

:08:35. > :08:45.anyone here and there are probably 12 skiers who could all podium. It

:08:46. > :08:49.is wide open. Looking forward to hearing you with Tim in the

:08:50. > :08:53.commentary box. We will leave you to get ready. Those of you at home have

:08:54. > :08:56.no doubt heard of James Woods. He has been one of the most talked

:08:57. > :09:02.about British athletes in the run-up to the games. He has the podium

:09:03. > :09:10.pedigree. He has won world championship medals and X Games. He

:09:11. > :09:13.is a real character. He is a real free spirit. Helen Skelton took him

:09:14. > :09:19.back to Sheffield where it all began.

:09:20. > :09:26.I have always been a bit of a dreaming sort of person. I suppose

:09:27. > :09:31.other people watching me and being inspired by what I do, if one person

:09:32. > :09:37.looks at it and says, you know what, I am going to good -- I am going to

:09:38. > :09:47.go out there and get what I want, that is what fires me up. Just being

:09:48. > :09:50.here is nice. It is kind of cool to just enjoy being back on the streets

:09:51. > :10:00.that I know. How are you doing, dude? Do you miss Sheffield? Of

:10:01. > :10:08.course. It is your city. People clearly love seeing you. It is just

:10:09. > :10:13.friends. All my friends from school and the skiing community. What was

:10:14. > :10:26.James Lagat school? He was great. Always very active. Crewe he was

:10:27. > :10:34.always doing tricks and things. Was it hard to your parents, I want to

:10:35. > :10:40.be a skier? Think very initially. Once they realised what it was all

:10:41. > :10:44.about and kindred competitions, it was obviously what I wanted to do

:10:45. > :10:49.and what I was dying to do. So yes, they were fully on board. It was all

:10:50. > :10:57.organised. I stayed in my fair share of sofas. How did James get into it?

:10:58. > :11:03.He was doing all sports to start with. We took him for his ninth

:11:04. > :11:07.birthday to a toboggan party at Sheffield Ski Village. We always

:11:08. > :11:13.said that when he went over the top of the hill, that was the last time

:11:14. > :11:23.we ever seen him. It was skiing from then on. This is where I started. It

:11:24. > :11:27.is not exactly the same. This was my second home, really. This is the

:11:28. > :11:31.first time I have ever seen these gates shut. I have been through here

:11:32. > :11:36.summoning times, that it is pretty sad. It chokes you up a bit. And I

:11:37. > :11:44.am not just putting it on! This was a huge deal. Thousands of people

:11:45. > :11:47.must have learned to ski your? British skiing emanated from here

:11:48. > :11:52.three years. This was where it happened. It is fairly

:11:53. > :11:59.heart-wrenching, if I am completely honest. We have got some good

:12:00. > :12:04.footage and stuff, probably stuff I would rather not show you, being

:12:05. > :12:09.such a chump, skiing around here when I was younger. Some familiar

:12:10. > :12:15.faces down here. You guys are used to hang out in different continents.

:12:16. > :12:20.A lot of people probably don't appreciate what it is you do. Can

:12:21. > :12:25.you explain it? It is a mixture of rails and kickers. It is like

:12:26. > :12:31.skateboarding. You get marked on tricks. It is like a course... It is

:12:32. > :12:38.fun to watch. You have done great things for slopestyle in the UK.

:12:39. > :12:42.What have they achieved? They have achieved the impossible. They have

:12:43. > :12:47.taken it to a whole new level. They have also shown what is possible in

:12:48. > :12:51.the UK. They have shown you can come from places like this and become one

:12:52. > :12:56.of the world's best. The most important thing is making myself, my

:12:57. > :13:00.family, my friends, the country, if they will have me for it, making

:13:01. > :13:05.them proud. That would be the greatest thing.

:13:06. > :13:12.We watched Katie Summerhayes the other day in the women's slopestyle.

:13:13. > :13:16.She took seventh place. James just getting ready as we look down this

:13:17. > :13:22.pretty fearsome slopestyle course. It is his moment of truth. And

:13:23. > :13:29.indeed it is for all 32 starters in the very first Olympic men's ski

:13:30. > :13:31.slopestyle event. History beckons. It is over to Tim Warwood and Ed

:13:32. > :13:46.Leigh. Thank you, Hazel. Joining us as well

:13:47. > :13:47.is Murray Buchan, halfpipe skier. Just running through the start list

:13:48. > :14:10.at the moment. Nicholas Goepper is the name on most

:14:11. > :14:15.people's lips. Russell Henshaw carrying a bit of a knee injury. He

:14:16. > :14:16.is quite happy. It is not ideal to ride with pain but it does not seem

:14:17. > :14:50.to be slowing him down. 32 riders. The slopestyle course, if

:14:51. > :15:00.you have never come across it, is made up of six elements. You can see

:15:01. > :15:03.the rail elements at the top. Re-creations of urban legends. Then

:15:04. > :15:06.you have got three jobs getting progressively bigger as you move

:15:07. > :15:20.down the course. The first rider getting ready to drop is the

:15:21. > :15:22.Norwegian Aleksander Aurdal. I am excited about this. I am sure a

:15:23. > :15:27.Norwegian Aleksander Aurdal. I am excited about this. I am sure lot of

:15:28. > :15:31.viewers will be just as excited Azmi to know what is going to be thrown

:15:32. > :15:37.down on this course. The thing about freestyle skiing is that there is a

:15:38. > :15:44.form guide but still there are 12 riders in the final who all can

:15:45. > :15:50.podium. The standard is so close. Just a little bit of a catch their

:15:51. > :16:03.there. You would think by now that they would have gone in a little

:16:04. > :16:13.bit. Spending two and a half times there. Lovely. Looking very, very

:16:14. > :16:21.smooth so far. Landing really deep. That was a good run. Really good. He

:16:22. > :16:27.caught up on one of the rails, but the jumps were pretty solid. It

:16:28. > :16:35.looks like he missed a grab. But he should come in with a good store

:16:36. > :16:41.score. The judges do not have the luxury of reviewing the run as we

:16:42. > :16:45.do. What a great angle off that. A lot of people asking about the rail,

:16:46. > :16:50.when the snowboarders were coming through the course. It is so bigger

:16:51. > :17:00.than it looks. There are very few riders attacking the rail. He just

:17:01. > :17:04.missed it slightly. The landing is still in really good shape. Their

:17:05. > :17:08.temperature is six degrees at the moment and it will only warm up.

:17:09. > :17:16.Even in training this morning, the landing, you could see how much snow

:17:17. > :17:22.kicked up. The judges will have been watching training very, very closely

:17:23. > :17:28.to get their Ryan and make sure they have somewhere left to go. There is

:17:29. > :17:34.nothing more embarrassing. You fancy this guy, don't you? You fancy his

:17:35. > :17:40.chances, I should say. I think he has an outside shot. What are we

:17:41. > :17:43.looking for? I am not sure. I only caught him on the last jump. The

:17:44. > :18:05.curse of Murray begins. Lovely! Just sat back but got a good

:18:06. > :18:18.tap. We have seen big spins already, straightout the blocks. He couldn't

:18:19. > :18:23.hold on. It was like he had Geoff capes on his shoulders. He could not

:18:24. > :18:29.stand up. The left ski was giving him so much trouble. He could not

:18:30. > :18:36.get it under control. Seemed to just fall out of the sky onto the rail.

:18:37. > :18:41.His ski just catching up. He did not get both skis off at the same time

:18:42. > :18:45.and that can be fatal. How much does it play into their minds, you make a

:18:46. > :18:49.mistake on the top rail, are you constantly thinking about that for

:18:50. > :18:54.the rest of the run? Yeah. It puts the pressure on. Everything has to

:18:55. > :19:00.be on point to come close to getting a decent score. That is a throwaway

:19:01. > :19:08.run for him. It is quite impressive how long he managed to survive

:19:09. > :19:20.compressed on one ski at full speed. He has a lot of work to do on his

:19:21. > :19:32.second run. This man is very technical on the rails. That is

:19:33. > :19:38.true. He did not mess around. We did not see that from the snowboarders

:19:39. > :19:46.too much, using the hitching post. Yes! But was enormous.

:19:47. > :20:01.Beautiful. Spinning three times and the opposite way. Into the final

:20:02. > :20:13.bottom jump, big double 12. That has got to be a good score. That is a

:20:14. > :20:17.really nice run from Jesper. So important to have all of the

:20:18. > :20:24.elements. You need to be the whole package in slopestyle. We are also

:20:25. > :20:28.seeing from the judges and what we have seen in previous slopestyle

:20:29. > :20:34.events, they penalise mistakes from the entire run, as opposed to the X

:20:35. > :20:42.Games work perhaps a trick would be judged down. It seems here that the

:20:43. > :20:46.whole run is being penalised. They are really looking at landings as

:20:47. > :21:00.well. On his first jump, it was a little scrappy. He will be looking

:21:01. > :21:04.to improve on that on the next run. He will not be very happy with that.

:21:05. > :21:09.This is really interesting. The judges, I think, really hedging

:21:10. > :21:16.their bets. They are expecting big things and they do not want to over

:21:17. > :21:25.score too early. The 16-year-old Luca Schuler. From the home of Roger

:21:26. > :21:30.Moore. Whether we will see any James Bond skiing remains to be seen.

:21:31. > :21:35.Basic on the rail. Getting caught up on the hitching post. Hit it with

:21:36. > :21:42.too much gusto. The pressure is on for second run. We talk about how

:21:43. > :21:46.important it is to put a rundown and maybe you can back us up here. You

:21:47. > :21:54.just want to get a score on the board. But a fairly good run down, a

:21:55. > :21:59.score on the board, then you can relax in your second run. Relax and

:22:00. > :22:03.really go for it. That is what you want. You want a safer run that you

:22:04. > :22:07.know you can land to make sure you have got some points. Then with your

:22:08. > :22:16.second run, you want a tougher run so you can push for higher up

:22:17. > :22:19.sports. Luca Schuler only started Olympic qualifying, training and

:22:20. > :22:23.trying to qualify for this Olympics, in the summer. He left it quite late

:22:24. > :22:31.but he has made it into the Swiss team. He has got his older brother.

:22:32. > :22:34.I think he damaged his knee in the qualifying campaign for this. So

:22:35. > :22:39.Luca Schuler at the last minute decided the family needed an Olympic

:22:40. > :22:46.representative and stepped up to the plate. How kind of him! Invaluable

:22:47. > :22:51.experience, getting to come to a Games at this age. It would have

:22:52. > :22:56.been the same for you, Murray, if they had opened up free skiing in

:22:57. > :23:01.2010. You obviously want to send people to meddle and do well but

:23:02. > :23:06.experiences equally as valuable -- send people to medal. The man who

:23:07. > :23:17.everyone is talking about, Nick Goepper, the India under -- the

:23:18. > :23:23.Indiana kit. He laid down a perfect triple at the X Games. I doubt we

:23:24. > :23:33.will see that in qualifying. But I have been proved wrong many times

:23:34. > :23:42.before. A big topic for debate. No polls. I think he has an injured

:23:43. > :23:48.hand or rest so it is difficult for him to hold the polls. Equally as

:23:49. > :23:54.good on the jumps. My goodness! Did not have enough speed there. That

:23:55. > :23:59.was a surprise. Well, it seems that ski slopestyle is going exactly the

:24:00. > :24:03.same way as women's ski slopestyle, women's snowboard slopestyle and

:24:04. > :24:12.men's snowboard slopestyle. Does not matter who you think the favourite

:24:13. > :24:15.is, it is just all about treasure. So many mistakes. I think you have

:24:16. > :24:19.got to be sure and land the run because you never know what the

:24:20. > :24:25.other guys will do. There might be double fall is all the way down the

:24:26. > :24:28.course. There has been a feeling for me that Nick Goepper has been

:24:29. > :24:36.playing mind games and he is as worried about everyone else as his

:24:37. > :24:40.own run. Did he lacks speed or ditty think he had more time -- did he

:24:41. > :24:50.lacks speed or think he had more time? Proof then that potentially

:24:51. > :24:56.the day before does not matter one single bit. It is how you feel on

:24:57. > :25:03.the day of the event. The build up may be important but there is far

:25:04. > :25:16.more to it than just that. The 18-year-old from Sweden. Lives in

:25:17. > :25:23.stock, now. -- Stockholm. Sweden had a good show in the snowboard

:25:24. > :25:26.slopestyle. Very technical. He stopped the inertia and spins out

:25:27. > :25:35.the opposite way. Tail tap on the barrel. The hitching post, as we

:25:36. > :25:39.call it. Seems like that is quite a common line. Everyone seems to be

:25:40. > :25:44.going for that. In these conditions, it is really slushy and there.

:25:45. > :25:47.Things are slowing down and that is probably one of the lines that

:25:48. > :26:01.allows you to maintain the most speed. Super Tech. Land is so deep

:26:02. > :26:13.on that third one. Really nice. 1260 double at the bottom. That has got

:26:14. > :26:23.to take top spot, surely. Plans and spinning the opposite way -- comes

:26:24. > :26:30.out. Lovely bit of style coming off. Did not have purchase on the

:26:31. > :26:36.right leg. But he still managed to get the spring he wanted. Double

:26:37. > :26:42.flat spin nine was that and a switch 1260. They are quite rare. You will

:26:43. > :26:49.not see many of them. Beautiful style on the grabs. Contorting

:26:50. > :26:52.himself. People have been asking what tweaking means and as soon as

:26:53. > :26:56.you get a grab on something and you have three points of contact, you

:26:57. > :27:06.can start to really stretch the shapes with your body and that is

:27:07. > :27:11.tweaking something. Only 72.8 for him. The judges leaving themselves

:27:12. > :27:17.somewhere to go. They are expecting big things. The second Swiss rider

:27:18. > :27:24.we have seen. He missed the tap there.

:27:25. > :27:31.First rider of the canon that we have seen. You are not going to get

:27:32. > :27:37.away with anything on these landings. When they are this slushy,

:27:38. > :27:47.if you are not really nicely centred on the landing, it is curtains. Wave

:27:48. > :27:53.goodbye to the run. Men's ski slopestyle, the best of two runs

:27:54. > :27:58.here. Interesting seeing him go for the box. There are rails which are

:27:59. > :28:03.just like a scaffold Pike and then you have got the box which is six to

:28:04. > :28:12.eight inches wide, piece of marble or granite. The boxes are classed as

:28:13. > :28:19.much easier. That one is quite low and easy to get onto. The level of

:28:20. > :28:27.risk means that the judges mark them down slightly. The 16-year-old from

:28:28. > :28:33.Switzerland. Just 11.8, he will mark that one down to experience. Bobby

:28:34. > :28:37.Brown, the American. The first man to land a triple in the big air

:28:38. > :28:41.contest will stop people have said he is not as good under pressure.

:28:42. > :28:48.You could not have time that any better, Ed! He has had a couple of

:28:49. > :28:53.big chances, certainly around 2010, he was looking like one of the

:28:54. > :28:58.strongest skiers in the world. In recent years, he has had the

:28:59. > :29:03.opportunity to cement that reputation and he has not really

:29:04. > :29:11.taken advantage of it. What on earth has he done there? He has just put

:29:12. > :29:16.all of the pressure in the world on himself for the second run. He is a

:29:17. > :29:21.medal contender and he has had a good season and he has put it all on

:29:22. > :29:28.him. Look how good he is on the jumps. Absolutely amazing. There was

:29:29. > :29:35.the triple. My goodness! That easy. He made it look so easy. Bemused

:29:36. > :29:44.faces down in the crowd. Cannot believe it. Cannot believe it. It

:29:45. > :29:53.looked like there was a little bit of. Dot. A couple of little bomb

:29:54. > :29:57.holes from people before. Landed a bit short and he got stuck on his

:29:58. > :30:08.edges. There you go. There is the catch. Winds up into this. Goes

:30:09. > :30:15.under and looks over his shoulder to really whip it around. So square. He

:30:16. > :30:22.has fallen victim to the snow stakes. They are catching everyone

:30:23. > :30:28.-- snow snakes. I would not have thought he would have got a 3.4. He

:30:29. > :30:34.continued on the jumps. You lay a triple and you do not get a 3.4.

:30:35. > :30:38.Yeah. Let us hope this is not a precursor to some contentious

:30:39. > :30:46.judging calls. Definitely not what we want to see at this age. 21 years

:30:47. > :31:04.old from Switzerland. A man who can also boast the triple in his bag of

:31:05. > :31:13.tricks. He manages to get it around. Beautiful control. Double 12. Yes,

:31:14. > :31:31.right side. Switched left side. I think Israel section will lead him

:31:32. > :31:40.down slightly. That was a fairly solid run. He has landed. He has put

:31:41. > :31:44.a run down. I am going to put you on the spot, Murray. The judges have

:31:45. > :31:49.made some interesting decisions already. Where are you going to

:31:50. > :31:54.place this? I think if you're going to take the same lead as in the

:31:55. > :32:03.snowboarding, they are looking for immaculate execution. To I would

:32:04. > :32:14.maybe say third or fourth. -- I would maybe say third or fourth.

:32:15. > :32:37.They are very tight at the moment. Oscar Wester is leading. Equal

:32:38. > :32:46.fourth. Kai Mahler. No shortage of Swiss in the first ten. That rail

:32:47. > :33:00.looks a little bit sticky today. Nobody looks that smooth on it. He

:33:01. > :33:02.kept it very simple up top. Lovely! Nice alternative line from Kai

:33:03. > :33:38.Mahler. Big stuff. Ankles locked tightly

:33:39. > :33:42.together. I think it is the first person I have seen hit the wall

:33:43. > :34:01.right like that. I cannot remember anybody else hitting that. Left side

:34:02. > :34:09.nine. Double misty. Going forward off the job. I think is top section

:34:10. > :34:20.will let him down. Sorry, double misty nine, not 12.

:34:21. > :34:30.That is very interesting. I would've thought it would slightly lower due

:34:31. > :34:34.to his top section. I think again we are looking really clean execution.

:34:35. > :34:52.They do not want to see sketching on the landings. Antti Ollila host

:34:53. > :35:18.Finland. -- of Finland. He has only done five World Cup events. Lovely.

:35:19. > :35:35.He knew he was putting that down solid. Into an absolutely lazy 99.

:35:36. > :35:42.We will see our theory on the priority of the judges proved right

:35:43. > :35:48.now. To me, that was clean as a whistle. They will struggle to pull

:35:49. > :35:58.this one apart, I think. Really nice. He used the rail feature well

:35:59. > :36:10.without risking everything. Technically that was a 540. Oh, the

:36:11. > :36:20.style. Do you see any faults with this? All of his landings are

:36:21. > :36:29.perfect. And solid grabs as well. What makes a good landing? You do

:36:30. > :36:38.not put your hands down. Skis straight. No scrubbing around. We

:36:39. > :36:43.saw that with Katie the other day. Exactly that. The judges are looking

:36:44. > :36:51.for execution. That is what they are prioritising at the moment. It paid

:36:52. > :36:57.off Jenny on Sunday. She went Baeck and clean rather than going super

:36:58. > :37:06.technical. Russell Henshaw, at 23, he is considered a veteran at slope

:37:07. > :37:11.skiing. He has been around for so long. He says it is not ideal skiing

:37:12. > :37:21.in pain but that is how it has got to be. Very nice top two elements.

:37:22. > :37:34.He got a hand dragged on the doll. Perfect.

:37:35. > :37:45.The first nose but we have seen. -- knows butter.

:37:46. > :37:50.I think he is just happy to get a run down. He has seen how many

:37:51. > :37:59.people have struggled and fallen over. To get a good score on the

:38:00. > :38:03.board will be relieving. Barrel rolled tag over the barrel. The same

:38:04. > :38:33.with the Russian doll. He has got the grab. This is where

:38:34. > :38:42.he just spins around on take-off. The judges all over that. He has

:38:43. > :38:49.done so many contests now. He seems really relaxed. He is now that he

:38:50. > :39:00.has got a good score. Andreas Hatveit. Always happy to be skiing.

:39:01. > :39:09.One of the oldest competitors as well.

:39:10. > :39:38.Some big spins off the rails. He got a tale tap on the Russian doll.

:39:39. > :39:49.Oh, my goodness. That was amazing. Just the last landing, it looked

:39:50. > :39:55.like he sat back a touch. Just a touch. The standard the judges are

:39:56. > :40:01.expecting to see today, there has been ten days of practice for these

:40:02. > :40:03.guys. The judges have had so long to gather all the information they need

:40:04. > :40:12.about the standard of writing they are expecting to see. They are being

:40:13. > :40:25.as harsh as they possibly can. -- the standard of riding.

:40:26. > :40:38.He looked so relaxed through the middle. Look how much that means to

:40:39. > :40:44.him. Yes, the Norwegian enjoying that one. 3.4 points clear at the

:40:45. > :41:08.top of the table. This man as the pressure of the

:41:09. > :41:13.whole of the USA on his sore shoulders -- on his shoulders, I

:41:14. > :41:24.would say. You described this man, Murray, as a robot. He was born in

:41:25. > :41:52.Essex. He lives in Telluride. We should claim him for us!

:41:53. > :42:13.Oh, my goodness! Switch double court nine on the last jump. This will be

:42:14. > :42:21.interesting to see. I think this is a rangefinder. He sent this one out

:42:22. > :42:27.there. It is not the operation on his repertoire. I think he will uses

:42:28. > :42:34.second run as a practice run. You may see a triple on the last run.

:42:35. > :42:39.His switch double nine will probably turn into a switch double if he

:42:40. > :42:47.qualifies, which I suspect he will. Looking so clean on the landings as

:42:48. > :42:57.well. Beautiful bit of kung fu being channelled through that area. --

:42:58. > :43:04.through that area. Kenworthy had to play bridesmaid to Nicolas Cooper at

:43:05. > :43:14.X Games. He has got the upper hand here. Do you know much about the

:43:15. > :43:26.politics between the two? No. Friendly rivalry or arch nemesis?

:43:27. > :43:38.Friendly rivalry. The first of the three brothers from New Zealand.

:43:39. > :43:48.Sorry, two brothers. Beau-James Wells and just sire here. -- Josiah

:43:49. > :44:05.Wells. Going all the way through the double kink. I saw him in training

:44:06. > :44:10.warming up without poles. He suffers from patellar tendon gnosis. But he

:44:11. > :44:24.has got it under control in recent years. I like your description of

:44:25. > :44:32.his knees. He has got knees of cottage cheese! A really solid run.

:44:33. > :44:38.Another one who could be considered a veteran of the sport, I suppose.

:44:39. > :44:48.He broke in when he was so young. He broke on when it was 14. Amazingly,

:44:49. > :44:51.he had a couple of X Games medals and did not really get recognised in

:44:52. > :44:57.New Zealand until three skiing made it into the Olympics, and suddenly

:44:58. > :45:10.it dawned on people that they had a potential Olympic medallist on the

:45:11. > :45:16.doorstep. Should be a good score. Spinning three and a half times. If

:45:17. > :45:23.you take off forwards, you land backwards. Double means you go

:45:24. > :45:32.upside down twice during the trip. It is a corkscrew spin. You mix the

:45:33. > :45:45.horizontal and vertical access and spin like a corkscrew. -- axis. For

:45:46. > :45:58.a 23-year-old, he is rocking a man's beard. Come on, Woodsy. You

:45:59. > :46:03.are allowed to be biased, we can't. Pat has done a good job with this

:46:04. > :46:09.guy. He has been instrumental. You have been in the camp, how affected

:46:10. > :46:16.has Woodsy been by the hip brews? He has been having a tough time of it.

:46:17. > :46:22.Coming out through the bottom kink, that would really jolt the system.

:46:23. > :46:29.Super technical. The only rider opting to go down through the kink

:46:30. > :46:36.rail. Sitting back a tiny bit there. Winding up for the first kicker.

:46:37. > :46:43.Left side ten. Spinning the opposite way and into right side. Look at

:46:44. > :46:51.that grabs. Beautiful. He has spanned both ways already. Good

:46:52. > :46:57.man! A beautiful run. One slight mistake of the third rail element,

:46:58. > :47:02.potentially sitting back a bit. But that is all the judges have to pick

:47:03. > :47:06.on. His grabs were solid, he was technical through the top section.

:47:07. > :47:14.Look at that, so hard to go through a pic like that. It gave him the

:47:15. > :47:19.kick he needed to get the 450 off. A lot of different grabs as well,

:47:20. > :47:29.Woodsy. He missed the grab on the tip. Look at the tweak on this grab.

:47:30. > :47:44.His leg is pointing the opposite way! And then the October grab. That

:47:45. > :47:47.is almost his signature grab the macro octo he is basically twisting

:47:48. > :47:53.his legs the opposite way. So square on landing. It has been accused X

:47:54. > :47:57.Games judges did not recognise he was spinning his unnatural way

:47:58. > :48:04.because he is so good at it. We should perhaps explain that everyone

:48:05. > :48:10.has a natural way to spend. Good score. -- natural way to spin. Can

:48:11. > :48:20.he improve on that, Spears? I think so. Woodsy is in second place.

:48:21. > :48:35.Exactly half the field. Looking very comfortable there. Henrik Harlaut is

:48:36. > :48:40.the skier's skier. Coming off a win at the X Games. Former skier, you

:48:41. > :48:46.would say probably. How has he got on in training? He looked like he

:48:47. > :48:52.was chilling a bit. He did not do anything to technical. He has got a

:48:53. > :48:58.really technical top section already! Spinning different ways

:48:59. > :49:04.onto and off the rails. He looks like he has got an octopus in his

:49:05. > :49:16.helmet! Nose butter. Oh, my goodness. I think his trousers are

:49:17. > :49:23.coming down, actually. Oh, my goodness. Double ejector. Is he all

:49:24. > :49:33.right? Straight up. Got tangled up in that. Looks like he just

:49:34. > :49:39.overstretched that grab. The Swedes will not be happy about that. There

:49:40. > :49:52.is a lot of expectation. Really technical top section. On the rail.

:49:53. > :50:02.Span one way and then the other. But is called pretzel, tying yourself

:50:03. > :50:10.up. Love the slow Mo -- slow motion when you get to see that. You are

:50:11. > :50:14.right. His trousers were incredibly... I think his trousers

:50:15. > :50:19.actually tangled him up! That is quite phenomenal. It looks like he

:50:20. > :50:25.almost got stuck in the rotation there and couldn't figure out if he

:50:26. > :50:35.was going forwards back woods. -- forwards or backwards. Just getting

:50:36. > :50:46.down the landing lights like a rag doll. Good ice burn. Never far from

:50:47. > :50:54.a smile. One of the nicest dudes around. Everybody loves him. Back at

:50:55. > :51:04.the top. Luca Tribondeau. Lives in Austria. Two on, two off. Some

:51:05. > :51:10.people have been questioning his style a little bit. Quite stand-up

:51:11. > :51:19.kind of style. Telegraph pole, some people call it. But he does have a

:51:20. > :51:25.triple 14 on Loch. Is he going to use it now? Is he going to lay down

:51:26. > :51:30.something safe? Common sense would suggest you get a score on the

:51:31. > :51:39.board. Sat back a touch on that landing. There is the triple. And he

:51:40. > :51:43.has got it on Loch. But we have got a couple of mistakes in there. We

:51:44. > :51:48.have seen this throughout all of the slopestyle contests. The judges will

:51:49. > :51:54.not reward a big bash brash trick over execution. If you are going to

:51:55. > :52:00.stick your neck out and say, I have a triple, you have got to be able to

:52:01. > :52:05.do it cleanly. They will not reward sketchier temps. I am not saying

:52:06. > :52:19.that was sketchy -- sketchy attempts. The landing was not quite

:52:20. > :52:22.there. Double misty nine. It is the third time and, dipping your head

:52:23. > :52:28.when you are so close to the landing. Got to get that right. He

:52:29. > :52:33.looks stoked with it and rightly so. I think we will see a pregnant pause

:52:34. > :52:38.from the judges now. The longer they wait, the better the score, but they

:52:39. > :52:46.want to get this right. They are setting a precedent when they give

:52:47. > :52:50.this score out. We have got a full house here as well for ski

:52:51. > :52:57.slopestyle. It has really filled up. Apart from those seats! I think a

:52:58. > :53:01.lot of people are opting to go for the standing room at the front. A

:53:02. > :53:05.bit more atmosphere. Like a concert. Even though you have your tickets in

:53:06. > :53:10.the seat, you want to get in the mix. Who wants to sit down when you

:53:11. > :53:16.can get up and dance? They are taking a good while here. In my

:53:17. > :53:22.opinion at the moment, this is one of the most open events. If you had

:53:23. > :53:26.to pick a podium, is it possible? Would you even put your reputation

:53:27. > :53:29.on the line for that? After watching those runs, I have no idea who could

:53:30. > :53:38.take it. You still have the Americans, so... A triple and he is

:53:39. > :53:43.still just under eight points off the pace. I think he has been

:53:44. > :53:51.punished for his landings. The message is coming through loud and

:53:52. > :54:01.clear. Do it big, do it clean. French rider coming out of Annecy.

:54:02. > :54:04.Jeremy Pancras. A bit of an unknown quantity in the commentary booth,

:54:05. > :54:25.we're not going to lie to you. Solid first three elements. " early

:54:26. > :54:31.to slow that down. -- opened up. Really clean on the landing. A

:54:32. > :54:36.little bit of a pop off his tales even. Was that a double grab? I

:54:37. > :54:43.think it was. We'll have to wait for the replay. Putting it down switch,

:54:44. > :54:49.landing it backwards. That was nice. He will be happy with that. He is.

:54:50. > :54:56.Look. Nasty knee injury in April, 2013. He was out for five months.

:54:57. > :55:04.Managed to come back at the New Zealand end of the season. The seven

:55:05. > :55:13.off the canon rail. Let us take a look at these. See if you are right.

:55:14. > :55:24.This was his first. The first 900. He has gone left side. There is one

:55:25. > :55:33.grab. Two. Almost two. Safety. Bit of a boot grab there. Quite clean.

:55:34. > :55:37.The landings are clean. Again we get another indication of whether they

:55:38. > :55:45.are picking up most on landings or form in the air. How much does style

:55:46. > :55:50.play in this? Interesting celebration! Definitely got a few

:55:51. > :55:58.laughs down in the gallery as well. Interesting. We have a woman stood

:55:59. > :56:09.in front of the booth at the moment in rabbit ears. 68. Maybe not quite

:56:10. > :56:13.the technicality the judges were looking for. The aerial shot of this

:56:14. > :56:26.course is stunning. It looks like a computer game. Another big-name in

:56:27. > :56:32.the world of free skiing. Norwegian. Has not had the most

:56:33. > :56:36.decorated season in the last year, but his reputation should be enough

:56:37. > :56:50.to strike fear into the hearts of the other competitors.

:56:51. > :57:02.Overcooked that a bit. He threw so hard, didn't he? Interesting. He was

:57:03. > :57:06.obviously pre-empting slowing the rotation down by adding a bit more

:57:07. > :57:12.style or tweak into the middle. I think he just missed the grab

:57:13. > :57:18.slightly. Then he was not able to tweak it and slow the rotation. He

:57:19. > :57:30.was accelerating through it. Yeah. That was lovely. My mistake. He got

:57:31. > :57:35.it on there. Skis and poles everywhere on the landing. The walk

:57:36. > :57:45.of shame back up to get his skiing pole. He is one of the riders who

:57:46. > :57:51.has a reputation for going big or going home, you might say. He has

:57:52. > :57:55.spent a lot of time out for injury. On this kind of stage, the Olympics,

:57:56. > :58:05.he will not be doing half measures. No, he is not doing anything to

:58:06. > :58:14.dispel that nickname, either. Antoine Adelisse of France. Comes

:58:15. > :58:21.from one of the resorts that hosted the Olympics in 92 or 94. 94 it

:58:22. > :58:31.would have been. The year after they took the and picks out of sync with

:58:32. > :58:36.the Summer Games. Lili Hammer, 92. Certainly looking tidy at the

:58:37. > :58:44.moment. Got a fifth at the World Championships last year.

:58:45. > :58:57.Big 1260. Little hand down on the landing. Switch 99. He was going to

:58:58. > :59:01.over rotate that slightly. When we talk about switch, just as in

:59:02. > :59:04.snowboarding, the skier is travelling backwards. In comparison

:59:05. > :59:11.to snowboarding, it is more obvious with the freestyle skiing when you

:59:12. > :59:22.are going back woods. Antoine Adelisse getting a lot more purchase

:59:23. > :59:26.of the canon rail. It is interesting watching the freestyle skiing. You

:59:27. > :59:31.have got so many elements. Instead of one snowboard, you have to skis

:59:32. > :59:37.and two poles. When it looks good, it looks like an Apache helicopter.

:59:38. > :59:39.When it is bad, it looks like someone throwing a model aeroplane

:59:40. > :59:48.into a ceiling fan. It's just flying everywhere. Difficult landing there.

:59:49. > :59:56.The judges being so fussy this morning. There is no room for error.

:59:57. > :00:04.Punished. Essentially he landed on the skis and rode away from every

:00:05. > :00:10.jump. My goodness. First runs, about three quarters of the way through.

:00:11. > :00:17.Great Britain's James Woods is in second. The Australian is just

:00:18. > :00:24.outside top three, Russell Henshaw. Very close schools up there. Three

:00:25. > :00:34.points separating the top four -- very close schools. The younger

:00:35. > :00:42.brother of the snowboarder we saw in the men's slopestyle. Just catching

:00:43. > :00:48.his ski. Can you imagine the sibling rivalry after this? If he gets a

:00:49. > :00:56.medal... Into the compression and onto the wall ride. Nice little flip

:00:57. > :00:59.out of the wall ride. Big ten. Right side... Going for the left side.

:01:00. > :01:19.Unnatural. 12. A switch 12 to finish. It says he

:01:20. > :01:27.does soften nerves occasionally on the big stage. He seems to have

:01:28. > :01:36.built with it fairly well there. -- dealt with it. You are not wrong,

:01:37. > :01:46.look has dealt with it there. A big tail grab. He puts the landing gear

:01:47. > :01:55.down. It is nice. Then there is the switch 12. Clean as you like. The

:01:56. > :02:05.grab is grabbing the opposite ski with your hand... Your arm crosses

:02:06. > :02:13.your body to grab the opposite ski. That is what I meant to say! That

:02:14. > :02:20.has got to be top three. It is brave, doing that, with these

:02:21. > :02:23.judges. They have made me and Ed look foolish more often than not.

:02:24. > :02:35.They haven't needed a lot of help, mind you! Oh, we are waiting a long

:02:36. > :02:43.time. His heart will be racing, waiting for that score. I think the

:02:44. > :02:46.one constant we have seen across-the-board in slopestyle is

:02:47. > :02:58.that it is wise heads, people who have stayed calm and mature. He is

:02:59. > :03:09.eighth! Take that from the judges. I am baffled by that. I think they

:03:10. > :03:13.listen to our commentary. Marcus Eder from Italy, following in the

:03:14. > :03:23.long tradition of Italian skiers with very Austrian names.

:03:24. > :03:37.450 on the gap rail, 270 out. He has come off early. He couldn't hold it.

:03:38. > :03:46.He has only made six World Cup starts. He won the 2010 big air

:03:47. > :03:54.contest. He has gone down. Marcus has won a free ride world tour. To

:03:55. > :03:59.be a big Mountain skier and also to try and get amongst it with the

:04:00. > :04:08.slopestyle, they are kind of ying and yang in the ski world as far as

:04:09. > :04:18.discipline goes. The free ride world tour stuff usually comes after a

:04:19. > :04:22.slopestyle career. You have to do so -- spent so long perfecting the

:04:23. > :04:27.tricks. It is usually when you are after some softer landings. He was

:04:28. > :04:39.just looking to cross the skis up in the grab. Is it fair to say as a

:04:40. > :04:44.freestyle skier, pretty much the moment you leave the lift, you know

:04:45. > :04:48.if you are going to land or not. Yes, if the speed is difficult, you

:04:49. > :05:04.don't know if it will stick up on you. 20th for Eder of Italy.

:05:05. > :05:16.Interesting seeing Goepper down in 19th. The top 12 riders will advance

:05:17. > :05:20.to the final. The highest score from their two runs will count. Bryson

:05:21. > :05:29.and from Finland, the second finish here we have seen --

:05:30. > :05:39.he got caught up again out of the first rail. I wrote on the chairlift

:05:40. > :05:43.with this guy, all of his family were coming to watch him, they were

:05:44. > :05:49.saying how the media are starting to pick up on it in Finland. We had a

:05:50. > :05:53.long chat about the fact that Finland is now delivering summary

:05:54. > :06:00.strong freestyle skiers. It's snowboarding reputation has perhaps

:06:01. > :06:03.fallen off a bit. The first two jump tricks looking really nice. Switch

:06:04. > :06:18.12 to finish. Left side as well. I think he did a switch flat ten on

:06:19. > :06:23.the second jump, I have not seen any of those so far. Riding backwards,

:06:24. > :06:33.doing three spins and landing backwards. Not going upside down. We

:06:34. > :06:39.have seen a lot of double Cork tens and switch double Cork tens but not

:06:40. > :06:42.so many flat ones. We really were expecting the doubles and the

:06:43. > :06:49.Troubles to come to the top and that would be the trick of the day. --

:06:50. > :06:59.doubles and triples to come to the top. They are going to be looking

:07:00. > :07:07.for flat spins and a demonstration of corks. If your whole run is

:07:08. > :07:10.corked all the way down... Technical difficulty is one of the main thing

:07:11. > :07:14.is the judges are looking for. When you slow you are going -- when you

:07:15. > :07:20.show your going upside down and you can do flat spins and rails, that is

:07:21. > :07:25.when you will plant the points. I think this could be up there. I am

:07:26. > :07:39.putting my neck out. I am not quite convinced. Really? No. I will eat my

:07:40. > :07:40.words again. Thanks, judges! I think that is the end of your speculation

:07:41. > :07:53.career... Good enough for 14th for Raisanen, a

:07:54. > :08:10.lot of work to do for him. Pat Joe has not got any goals on. -- Patja

:08:11. > :08:17.has not got any goggles on. You are going to be hitting the kickers at

:08:18. > :08:23.35 miles an hour, surely his eyes will be watering. He actually face

:08:24. > :08:30.planted them, with no goggles on. There is a good chance he has got

:08:31. > :08:35.snow burn on his nose. Goggles protect your face a bit. I had a

:08:36. > :08:41.friend, the only time I have seen it... His goggle lens was

:08:42. > :08:49.cracked... We shouldn't start talking about horrible injuries. A

:08:50. > :08:54.big move. It looked like he was heavy on the nose of his ski and

:08:55. > :09:07.they shot out behind him. Getting an amazing follow cam shot there.

:09:08. > :09:21.Let's see this landing. They just shoot out. He looked on point until

:09:22. > :09:32.then. 10.84 Patja, the judges are impatient, waiting for him to come

:09:33. > :09:46.to the bottom. -- 10.8 for Patja. You can hear the amount of calls

:09:47. > :09:54.going out for Kristiansen, Christensen, a very popular guy.

:09:55. > :10:01.Lovely, so delicate and precise with his contact. Just to initiate the

:10:02. > :10:12.rotation. Really big, and combined with the rail section up top, a big

:10:13. > :10:20.double ten. A bit over the nose, didn't seem to upset his rhythm.

:10:21. > :10:29.Back-to-back tens. Very tight from Christensen. In the second jumping

:10:30. > :10:37.at the double Cork 1080. Both switch double tens. It is like left and

:10:38. > :10:44.right. Just showing variation for the judges. He will be happy with

:10:45. > :10:51.the run. It will be like writing Ulysses with your left and right

:10:52. > :11:02.hand at the same time... How long is it? 3000 pages. There is the double

:11:03. > :11:10.grab, the truck driver. You just saw a little flecks. It is one of the

:11:11. > :11:19.few mistakes. One of the few mistakes you could latch onto. A

:11:20. > :11:23.slightly early let go of the grab. I can't believe the detail we are

:11:24. > :11:32.having to go into. It is huge from Christensen. They really, really are

:11:33. > :11:39.looking for execution. He went really big, he sent it so deep into

:11:40. > :11:44.the landings. He left it really, really late coming into this event.

:11:45. > :11:51.The other thing to remember, he had a really strong rail section. The

:11:52. > :11:56.youngest of the Wells brothers. His dad is standing next to him, he has

:11:57. > :12:03.three sons here at the Olympics. It is pretty clear, he said, I don't

:12:04. > :12:09.put any punches with the boys, I don't give them false hope. I am

:12:10. > :12:15.pretty sure he would have told him...

:12:16. > :12:25.Very nice! He will have to try to get some speed from somewhere. The

:12:26. > :12:31.speed was sucked out of the trip but he has found speed for the kick and

:12:32. > :12:34.he has got the landing down. The right side double 1080, he learned

:12:35. > :12:43.that in training a couple of days ago. He got caught up in the snow.

:12:44. > :12:49.That is such a shame. It was going really well. There was a feeling in

:12:50. > :13:01.the Wells camp that they were happy to talk about, that Beau-James was

:13:02. > :13:06.gaining experience for PyeongChang, a final place would be seen as a

:13:07. > :13:10.victory for him. We have been calling that the butter box and he

:13:11. > :13:14.was the first person to butter on and get amongst it on the Canon

:13:15. > :13:18.rail. If you are wondering what we are talking about, a butter comes

:13:19. > :13:23.from the feeling you get from buttering a piece of toast so you

:13:24. > :13:26.are using the skis in the same way, you're getting onto the tips of the

:13:27. > :13:35.tail and trying to wash through them. 36 for Beau-James Wells. One

:13:36. > :13:39.of four brothers, Jackson is the youngest, he is the only one not at

:13:40. > :13:54.these Games. The hope is he will be there in 2018. Now Mayr of Germany.

:13:55. > :14:00.He got in last minute, I think there was a problem with qualification but

:14:01. > :14:04.he is here and he is a good rider. He lives in in Brook, one of the

:14:05. > :14:08.best cities that has direct at first two mountains. -- that has direct

:14:09. > :14:34.access to Mountain 's. Right side double ten, solid. In two

:14:35. > :14:44.double Mr E ten. -- into double misty ten. He went dead straight up

:14:45. > :14:57.the face. We have not seen many of them, I think he was the first to do

:14:58. > :15:02.the double. Switch 270 on, 270. I think he will be punished for that.

:15:03. > :15:13.They were to be simple trick without a grab. He is left hanging

:15:14. > :15:22.there.... A big switch 99. He switched off the grab. Here is the

:15:23. > :15:32.double misty, the safety grab. He puts it down solid. The judges are

:15:33. > :15:35.being so fussy, they are not getting the benefit of these slow-mo replays

:15:36. > :15:45.so they have got to make the right call. Well, he is happy. He is

:15:46. > :15:54.stoked. He has got an extra layer of padding, it looks packed tight. The

:15:55. > :16:05.fourth of the Finland skiers, he lives in Helsinki. We are waiting a

:16:06. > :16:15.long time for the score. It will be interesting to see what comes in.

:16:16. > :16:38.They are having a good thing. I am going out on a limb,

:16:39. > :16:42.They are having a good thing. I am sport. We should be able to have an

:16:43. > :16:47.educated guess, but it has been so difficult, and the judges do not

:16:48. > :16:50.have the luxury of the replays, they have got to make a call.

:16:51. > :16:57.Straightaway, the message they have sent is, is it clean? Every landing

:16:58. > :17:05.has got to be clean, every grad has got to be intact. And, is it big? I

:17:06. > :17:11.am not going to go with a big score, I think you will struggle to

:17:12. > :17:17.make the top ten. It is only the first run of the qualifiers, 32

:17:18. > :17:27.skiers each get a run, and the top 12 advance to the final. Milk it,

:17:28. > :17:38.you have got plenty of time. Good call! Finally, we get something

:17:39. > :17:50.right! Another four skiers to drop. The next, the youngest of the

:17:51. > :17:56.Finland skiers. He sat back there. He has given up straightaway, did

:17:57. > :18:04.not bother with the second element. A nice backflip 180. That was

:18:05. > :18:27.awesome! If he can lay this rundown, that

:18:28. > :18:31.will look really nice. Impressive. Imagine how nice that fails, you

:18:32. > :18:38.took up into the second. That is completely blind, you get a glimpse

:18:39. > :18:44.of landing twice. But the moment you take off, you see the landing, then

:18:45. > :18:53.it disappears for a long time. You will not know you have landed it

:18:54. > :19:03.until you have landed it. Victory, the leap of faith. He talks it a bit

:19:04. > :19:07.to give himself a look. It takes a lot of bottle, you have to stop

:19:08. > :19:14.looking, and your head goes straight back. If you look over the shoulder,

:19:15. > :19:20.it affects how the trick reacts in the air. Your rotation will change.

:19:21. > :19:34.Next up, the 22-year-old from France. Oh, no! That is so

:19:35. > :19:40.humiliating. You know that all of your friends and family are

:19:41. > :19:48.watching. It is crushing in terms of confidence.

:19:49. > :20:00.Just going to practice his run now. Work is way through. That was

:20:01. > :20:06.massive. It was huge. He got the really laid-back tail grab on it as

:20:07. > :20:12.well. There is a lot of room for U2 go a lot bigger, there is no chance

:20:13. > :20:26.of overshooting. They are so steep, as well.

:20:27. > :20:37.Undoubtedly going to put this one down to experience. Very ragged.

:20:38. > :20:48.Using it as a training run for his second run. The slush eating riders

:20:49. > :20:54.up. When these landings were icy earlier in the week, it was bouncy,

:20:55. > :21:00.but now, the slush is grabbing hold of you. It is catching skis, poles,

:21:01. > :21:07.arms and legs, it makes for difficult conditions. When it starts

:21:08. > :21:20.to pull at body parts as well. 24 years old, from the Czech Republic.

:21:21. > :21:25.Off early. His results do not suggest that he will be threatening

:21:26. > :21:36.the finals, but you never know. If he can get a big, clean run out? He

:21:37. > :21:40.chose the jump option. He stood up on it quite a lot, very upright. He

:21:41. > :21:55.has not got enough speed. He just made it over. Nice and clean on the

:21:56. > :22:00.last jump. But it is almost the judges' mantra, it has got to be big

:22:01. > :22:05.and clean. The second jump was anything but big. He will be happy

:22:06. > :22:11.with that, though. He should have a score on the board which is

:22:12. > :22:16.reasonable. We only have one wider left to go, so we can start having a

:22:17. > :22:24.good look through the scores. If you are landing a run, top to bottom,

:22:25. > :22:30.you are 50 and above. But there is a threshold around the low 70s, which

:22:31. > :22:36.is 11th place currently, and that'll be the finals, when we look at the

:22:37. > :22:46.second runs. You will have to be site -- high 70s, many men, for a

:22:47. > :22:50.final place. The judges caving -- giving him a standard score for

:22:51. > :22:58.making it to the bottom and not falling over. The Russian. On home

:22:59. > :23:04.soil. You listen to the crowd for now. 20 weight -- 28 years old, the

:23:05. > :23:13.oldest rider in the men's slopestyle.

:23:14. > :23:22.The first time we have seen that. Fairly basic at the moment, though.

:23:23. > :23:31.He over rotates, but he does well to save it.

:23:32. > :23:41.It looked like he got caught up on the take-off. A big seven to finish.

:23:42. > :23:53.The Russians cheering him into the finish area. He will not be too

:23:54. > :23:54.happy with that. He managed to overshoot the landing on the

:23:55. > :24:12.hitching post. Currently sat in 50 Sixth Place on

:24:13. > :24:17.the World Cup. I love that angle, it gives you an idea of how long the

:24:18. > :24:23.take-off is. A big 360 on the last jump. Jumps can be built in so many

:24:24. > :24:28.different ways. It is called a kicker or a wedge, the start of the

:24:29. > :24:30.jump. The once they have built here are really long and smooth, they do

:24:31. > :24:45.not give you much pop. He has got to move up around 30

:24:46. > :24:49.points on his second run if he wants to have a sniff of the finals. James

:24:50. > :25:05.Woods in third place. The Frenchman on the bubble of

:25:06. > :25:18.qualification for the finals. James Woods in a good position with

:25:19. > :25:30.the second run to come. I understand that you have had a

:25:31. > :25:36.rotten night in the UK, hurricane force nights's wins, so we hope we

:25:37. > :25:42.can cheer up your day today on this Thursday morning. I have decent news

:25:43. > :25:47.from the curling, Great Britain's women are seven - five up in the

:25:48. > :25:52.ninth end against China. We are keeping our fingers crossed. And, it

:25:53. > :25:56.is a big morning for Rick -ish middle hopes, because we have got

:25:57. > :26:03.the start of the women's skeleton, Great Britain has always done well,

:26:04. > :26:11.achieving medals every time it has been held. Lizzy Yarnold and Shelley

:26:12. > :26:14.Rudman will be flying the flag for Great Britain today, they have to

:26:15. > :26:19.runs today, followed by two more tomorrow, to decide the gold medal

:26:20. > :26:23.places. Amy Williams 14 years ago in Vancouver. Let's get her to show us

:26:24. > :26:36.the Sanki Sliding Centre. Here we are at the Sanki Sliding

:26:37. > :26:42.Centre for the bobsleigh, skeleton and luge. 17 corners, it has been

:26:43. > :26:48.made beautifully, the best track I have ever seen. This start is

:26:49. > :26:54.beautiful, long, flat, the athletes will have to decide when to go on to

:26:55. > :27:00.the sled. It is designed for the Russians, they are very good

:27:01. > :27:04.starters. Especially the men. The push is really important, and

:27:05. > :27:09.continue that through the first few corners. They do not want to hit or

:27:10. > :27:13.skid, you just want to keep the power from the start. This is where

:27:14. > :27:22.the technical part of the track starts. Three uphill sections in

:27:23. > :27:28.this track, really unique, no track has had that before. One of them

:27:29. > :27:33.comes out of this corner. You do not notice it when the athletes go down,

:27:34. > :27:38.has steep it is, but if they are lying on the ice, they will see the

:27:39. > :27:43.uphill. It is important they do not move around, because they will be

:27:44. > :27:52.skidding. If they hit a wall here, they will be wasting a lot of time.

:27:53. > :28:03.It is pretty steep on the way down, a 19% drop.

:28:04. > :28:12.A big corner, 4.5 G pressure. Three oscillations, three ways that they

:28:13. > :28:19.are going to steer out. It is really hard to see what the corner looks

:28:20. > :28:23.like. This is corner 12 and 13, into 14, vital, the athletes will

:28:24. > :28:30.probably take a clip on the left to find themselves up. But for corners

:28:31. > :28:39.left, and corners, keep the speed. Position is vital, aerodynamics

:28:40. > :28:45.really important now. Exit 17, finish line just there, hopefully,

:28:46. > :28:50.if everything has gone to plan, you get over in a really good time. The

:28:51. > :28:52.track is wonderful, the ice is wonderful, and I have high hopes for

:28:53. > :29:06.Team GB, the men and women. Here we go, 1500 metres of ice, four

:29:07. > :29:13.runs for gold, and it starts now. This is the scene in the Sanki

:29:14. > :29:16.Sliding Centre. Amy Williams is in the commentary box with Colin Bryce

:29:17. > :29:21.and Paul Dickenson. The British are going early. Describe the scene for

:29:22. > :29:31.us as we get ready for the crucial first run.

:29:32. > :29:37.COMMENTATORS: It is absolutely superb.

:29:38. > :29:46.Just watching one or two of the athletes at the moment. Generally

:29:47. > :29:55.speaking, the crowd at the finish are being very vocal. It certainly

:29:56. > :30:02.is a feast for sore eyes. There are some Russian hopefuls today. They

:30:03. > :30:06.could all get medals. We are hoping that the British girls will do

:30:07. > :30:10.particularly well. Lizzy Yarnold will go second down the hill,

:30:11. > :30:16.Shelley Rudman is third, they chose those positions. Lizzie had the

:30:17. > :30:27.chance to choose what ever position she wanted. Pikus-Pace chose first.

:30:28. > :30:33.We don't know what sort of form she is in, her training has been

:30:34. > :30:40.spasmodic. She is a former world champion, she was fourth in the last

:30:41. > :30:44.Olympic Games, she can slide. Amy, we know that Pikus-Pace is not the

:30:45. > :30:53.best of starters but she tends to make it up down the track. Yes, that

:30:54. > :30:59.was a great start from her. She has only been on this track a few times.

:31:00. > :31:06.So far a good, solid looking run. A tiny skid in the tricky section. The

:31:07. > :31:13.exit of nine through 210 is a tricky changeover. They don't have quite as

:31:14. > :31:17.much control of the skeletons as they do the

:31:18. > :31:29.you have to get your sled set up perfectly. She has had a few skids

:31:30. > :31:34.and think she will be more nervous from the lack of training runs. That

:31:35. > :31:40.is her husband, cheering her on at the bottom. I think she is pretty

:31:41. > :31:51.please, it is a track record to start off with. The old track record

:31:52. > :31:56.is 58 .98. The ice must be in tremendous condition. We knew that

:31:57. > :32:01.coming into this contest. That is half the battle, having perfect ice.

:32:02. > :32:09.The ice is amazing, this is the best track I have ever seen. It is really

:32:10. > :32:15.perfect conditions. The Russians have done proud. If any British

:32:16. > :32:22.spectators are wondering who this lady is, Elizabeth Yarnold, she has

:32:23. > :32:26.been around for a few years now. She has already won a world

:32:27. > :32:31.championship. She has already won four World Cups and now she's going

:32:32. > :32:36.for Olympic gold. She won the World Cup season this year. That is able

:32:37. > :32:42.power start, that is tremendous. It is even quicker than the old start

:32:43. > :32:48.record. Yarnold has powered it off, nothing conservative about that. No,

:32:49. > :32:52.she has given it all, she has gone for it. Her form is perfect, head

:32:53. > :32:59.down, shoulders down, feet together, so much more aerodynamic

:33:00. > :33:05.and clean lines so far. Over a quarter of a second up on her number

:33:06. > :33:09.one rival, this is phenomenal. Unbelievable, so exciting to watch,

:33:10. > :33:16.she has nailed her training, she has so much confidence and you can see

:33:17. > :33:27.that. She lost a little bit of time from 11 to 14. She is still over two

:33:28. > :33:35.tenths up. She has beaten it by a quarter of a second. Another track

:33:36. > :33:41.record. This competition has got off to a blistering start. First of all,

:33:42. > :33:48.a track record by Pikus-Pace. And secondly by Lizzy Yarnold. She is

:33:49. > :33:57.going to be happy, she took the clip out of 11. 12 and 13 is a wobbly

:33:58. > :34:01.straight. It is an uphill section so that is one area that could have

:34:02. > :34:07.lost her time. That little kink in there, the tap

:34:08. > :34:12.is probably better than trying to make any kind of steer. Sometimes it

:34:13. > :34:24.is easy to take the tap bunfight the steer. -- to take the tap than fight

:34:25. > :34:29.the steer. Shelley Rudman has been around for quite some time, she was

:34:30. > :34:40.six at the last Olympic Games. She was second in 2006. -- she

:34:41. > :34:48.she starts her Olympic campaign here, she gets away well. She is

:34:49. > :34:52.already giving away the best part of two tenths of a second to Yarnold.

:34:53. > :34:57.She is a lighter athlete, not as powerful in the start but this is a

:34:58. > :35:03.long track. It gives somebody of the experience of Shelley Rudman the

:35:04. > :35:08.chance to reel it back. She doesn't have the momentum, she will have to

:35:09. > :35:11.really work it down the bottom. Between corners five and 15 is

:35:12. > :35:16.written technical, you have got to nail those lines, that is where you

:35:17. > :35:20.will get your speed. Her run is looking solid. She has struggled in

:35:21. > :35:26.those major uphill sections in training but she is looking good so

:35:27. > :35:31.far. Around 14, back up the hill, she took a clip, she will have lost

:35:32. > :35:37.like a bit of speed, she will not trouble Yarnold now. Shelley Rudman

:35:38. > :35:46.is coming through and just finishing in third place. She is behind

:35:47. > :35:52.Pikus-Pace. And that really was a disappointing run for Shelley

:35:53. > :35:57.Rudman. Yes, she took the same clip as Lizzie but it affected her more,

:35:58. > :36:01.she hit it harder which pinged her across onto the other side of the

:36:02. > :36:07.wall and would have slowed her down. Unfortunate for Shelley, a bit of

:36:08. > :36:19.the wrong angle. She took that hit out of 14. Another big hit. Shelley

:36:20. > :36:25.Rudman, currently in third place. STUDIO: A blistering start from

:36:26. > :36:31.Lizzy Yarnold and Shelley Rudman also completing her first run. We

:36:32. > :36:36.are going straight, this is Goepper of the United States as we go to be

:36:37. > :36:41.second run of collar for the nation in the men's slopestyle. -- second

:36:42. > :36:49.run of qualification. COMMENTATORS: Goepper is on his

:36:50. > :36:55.second run. So important that he lands this. One of the few riders

:36:56. > :37:02.without poles, stylistically it is a brave new world. But he is claiming

:37:03. > :37:06.that one. Do you agree? I think it was an excellent run, his scraps

:37:07. > :37:10.were solid, his landings were perfect. I am going to put my neck

:37:11. > :37:19.on the line and say it could be first. We have all been humiliated

:37:20. > :37:30.by difficult judging decisions. It becomes really clear they want it

:37:31. > :37:38.clean and big. Goepper just inched ahead of Kenworthy at the X games to

:37:39. > :37:45.earn half weeks ago. He went big on every jump and he will get rewarded

:37:46. > :37:53.for that. A crossover in the skis, so much style. Ride side ten with a

:37:54. > :38:02.handful of grabs in there by the look of it. It was like pick and

:38:03. > :38:07.mix. Just pure elation. After a difficult first run, he gets an 87

:38:08. > :38:21.for his second run. It slots him in just behind James Woods. Woods is

:38:22. > :38:29.still in third. In second place, Haatveit and in third, Christensen.

:38:30. > :38:37.Everyone else in the top five still has their second run to go. -- in

:38:38. > :38:40.first, Christensen. Wester is one of the skiers we thought would score

:38:41. > :38:46.quite highly in his first run. But the judges did not agree. Let's see

:38:47. > :38:56.if he can find what they are looking for on this run. He has that double

:38:57. > :39:08.cork 1440. Going upside down twice, spinning around four times. Double

:39:09. > :39:13.flat spin nine. And a beautiful landing, really deep. Lost a bit of

:39:14. > :39:19.speed as he took off. Switch double 12, have not seen many of them.

:39:20. > :39:26.There is that double 12, he couldn't hold it! Did you see how wide his

:39:27. > :39:33.skis were as he took off? He took so much power into that. Just leaving

:39:34. > :39:47.the tip of the right ski down for the tap on the post. Two on,

:39:48. > :39:52.pretzel, two. The pretzel is when you use the rail and then you have

:39:53. > :40:00.to generate the opposite direction. Very technical. -- generate spin in

:40:01. > :40:11.the opposite direction. Was that a 1620? He got it down to his feet. It

:40:12. > :40:16.was four and a half spins. Unlucky for Wester. A good indication of how

:40:17. > :40:33.hot it has been here. Usually you don't get a tan until spring.

:40:34. > :40:46.A late 180 over the hitching post. He comes off early on the down box.

:40:47. > :40:58.That was nice, though. Took a lot of speed out of it, as well. Right

:40:59. > :41:09.side, double ten. Left side, double ten... No, double 12, nice! Into

:41:10. > :41:21.Switch double Misty. It was a blur of skis and polls. -- and ski poles.

:41:22. > :41:26.We always talk about style in the air and you have so much going on,

:41:27. > :41:29.if you get it right it looks beautiful. The moment it starts to

:41:30. > :41:37.look uncomfortable, all of the tell-tale signs are there. The ski

:41:38. > :41:46.poles start waving and it can look ugly. Nice and compose, the skis

:41:47. > :41:54.cost, a good landing. And then this, the high mute switch double Misty

:41:55. > :41:59.nine. Talk us through that, the high mute is the grab. Yes, he is taking

:42:00. > :42:08.off backwards. If you watched his pop off the jump, he pops up 180s

:42:09. > :42:14.into the double Misty and he does two flips and comes back out

:42:15. > :42:18.forward. The Misty is where you let the rotation drift off and get your

:42:19. > :42:22.weight into the jump. Bobby Brown, he is one of the best skiers in the

:42:23. > :42:30.world, but he suffers under pressure. He dropped his first trick

:42:31. > :42:35.there, he got a 3.4 despite carrying on his run and doing a triple. We

:42:36. > :42:40.have already seen his triple. If the top section of the course is clean,

:42:41. > :42:58.we should get to see it again on the third jump. 899. -- they --

:42:59. > :43:09.he is playing it safe. And that was very clean, very safe, very big. We

:43:10. > :43:15.can give you an idea of how big they are. What we are starting to see now

:43:16. > :43:22.is probably the nerves settling for a lot of riders, thinking, this is

:43:23. > :43:28.it, but also, we are just starting to see not crazy runs. They are

:43:29. > :43:34.thinking, actually, I don't have to go mad now. Just put a run down and

:43:35. > :43:38.get a score on the board. I don't think Bobby Brown had settled down,

:43:39. > :43:46.think it was relief on his face. He looked drawn, like he was under a

:43:47. > :43:55.lot of pressure. He was down on the panel to. And then this one... The

:43:56. > :44:00.left side. You are talking about double cork tens and they are

:44:01. > :44:04.slowing them down. It looks like a 720 of ten years ago, the amount of

:44:05. > :44:11.time they have in the air and the way they are styling these big

:44:12. > :44:12.rotations. We have just seen a 1620 and that is where they are working

:44:13. > :44:17.hard. Ninth place for Bobby Brown. That

:44:18. > :44:36.will be close for him. As it stands, we have got

:44:37. > :44:53.Christensen in first, James Woods of Great Britain in third. Dropping in

:44:54. > :45:03.now with Amnuehl of Switzerland. Looking really relaxed through these

:45:04. > :45:08.top elements. The weakness to this man's armour is said to be the

:45:09. > :45:17.rails. He helped that well. It looks like he is struggling for speed a

:45:18. > :45:25.bit. A switch 12. He has thrown hard into that. Look at that, claiming

:45:26. > :45:27.without looking where he is going. He set out really hard then slowed

:45:28. > :45:37.down on the last jump. You think that the rails could be

:45:38. > :45:42.his weakness. I do not think he has played it safe by any stretch, he is

:45:43. > :45:51.making it the full length of the rail, he has not come off early, OK,

:45:52. > :45:57.that was a slap rather than a grab, but he really starts to turn it on

:45:58. > :46:02.on the kickers. It will be the landing of his right side double

:46:03. > :46:16.ten, double 12, sorry, that will let him down. Once been, free spins, a

:46:17. > :46:18.half. He really put that down. On the trailing arm, beautiful, he had

:46:19. > :46:35.it under control. He will not be happy with that. I am

:46:36. > :46:44.really surprised. Is he getting punished that badly for a slight

:46:45. > :46:48.sketch on the landing? The Swiss just outside the finals positions, a

:46:49. > :47:01.lot of work to do. Really nice and stylish. He comes off a bit early on

:47:02. > :47:05.the top rail. He has been working at switching up his repertoire, he has

:47:06. > :47:09.always been known as a big Bear specialist. Putting three together

:47:10. > :47:22.has been the challenge. More technical on the top rails.

:47:23. > :47:32.He's used the left-hand side of the kicker and then switched it up.

:47:33. > :47:42.Drifting... They could not quite hold it! A bit of flip-flopping. The

:47:43. > :47:49.only consolation, even if he had saved that, the way the judges are

:47:50. > :47:53.marking people, like on the last run, even if he had saved the last

:47:54. > :48:02.landing, it would not have been a great score. Another big name with a

:48:03. > :48:10.decent reputation will not make the finals. He is not going to better

:48:11. > :48:16.his first score, which means he is sitting it out in 14th place. I

:48:17. > :48:22.thought we were going to get some ski ballet then. The end of his day,

:48:23. > :48:35.unfortunately. The Swiss not getting the role of

:48:36. > :48:42.the dice at the moment. Antti Ollila is right on the bubble. He only has

:48:43. > :48:49.one spot between him getting knocked out, so he is going to want to

:48:50. > :48:53.improve on his first run score. There are TVs at the top that they

:48:54. > :49:01.can watch, they must see what the judges are doing and think, what can

:49:02. > :49:09.I do? What can I change? It is pretty straightforward, really. He

:49:10. > :49:13.took the same strategy that we saw Jamie and Jenny adopt, he has gone

:49:14. > :49:20.big with a run that he can land very cleanly. A huge 900. Have you

:49:21. > :49:26.stopped that becoming 1080, I will never know. So unlucky to fall over

:49:27. > :49:31.there. He just got caught in the soft snow. When it is soft like

:49:32. > :49:37.that, do you want to land forwards or backwards? It does not matter, as

:49:38. > :49:43.long as you keep the skis straight. As soon as they veer off, you get

:49:44. > :49:48.caught. You going to get awarded more from the judges? They will know

:49:49. > :49:54.it is more difficult to land. Will you get more for a backwards

:49:55. > :49:58.landing? It is not so important, it is dependent on the trick you have

:49:59. > :50:05.done. The cleanliness of the trick and landing. He got caught, his

:50:06. > :50:12.right ski dropped him, in the soft snow, and that is what through him.

:50:13. > :50:16.The key is surface area. If you are landing on just the tip, the tip

:50:17. > :50:17.will sink. If you can get both skis down at the same time, you will not

:50:18. > :50:34.sink. James Woods still in third. Nick

:50:35. > :50:41.Garber has stepped it up again. Gus Kenworthy in fifth place. Russ

:50:42. > :50:44.Henshaw currently in seventh place, but we should see a good marker of

:50:45. > :50:54.what he has planned for the final say. He may want to improve that

:50:55. > :51:01.score a bit. The top 12 will be seeded in the final, so it is worth

:51:02. > :51:03.trying to get as high up as you can, going into the finals. Very

:51:04. > :51:25.nice. A double ten to finish. A 180 right

:51:26. > :51:32.at the start, the last ski length of the jump. How different is that from

:51:33. > :51:41.his first run? Since he missed the tap on the dole, I would say his

:51:42. > :51:47.first run was slightly better. What they should add is a blockbusters

:51:48. > :51:53.style hooter when you hit the barrel or the goal. It should light up!

:51:54. > :52:09.Fireworks go off! Or a decent haunt! Just a bit loose with the

:52:10. > :52:18.left ski. The landing was perfect. 23 years old, but still considered

:52:19. > :52:25.an elder statesman. The lack of the grab on the kitchen posed as he went

:52:26. > :52:33.over. Maybe a little drop of style seeped away on the last jump.

:52:34. > :52:43.Andreas Hatveit, second place at the moment. Getting a shout from

:52:44. > :52:52.somebody, getting some props before he started his run.

:52:53. > :53:05.540! Switch 540, with a little tap and a grab. Very nice. He has really

:53:06. > :53:12.settle down, he is really enjoying a second run, knowing that they have

:53:13. > :53:20.got a nice high score. What about a flat spin nine on his second jump? A

:53:21. > :53:25.really good, solid run again. A bit over the tips on the landing of the

:53:26. > :53:28.third jump, but he almost looked like he did that on purpose, the way

:53:29. > :53:37.he recovered. I think he is fairly safe. We will see him in the finals.

:53:38. > :53:38.Absolutely. The big question is whether it improves the existing

:53:39. > :53:58.score. It is a bit cleaner, perhaps. That set him up for the last jump.

:53:59. > :54:05.Really nice. One, two, three. Switch double ten. Nice! He really did not

:54:06. > :54:15.reply Keith through that hard into that, ever so gentle on take-off.

:54:16. > :54:25.Maybe he will go around again. Still an amazing score. I do not know

:54:26. > :54:34.where the judges will have pulled that away. Gus Kenworthy, just

:54:35. > :54:37.outside the top three. He can overtake Nick Gupta if he gets a

:54:38. > :54:56.good score. He can ride the pipe, one of a

:54:57. > :55:01.handful of crossover skiers. The only others I can think of are the

:55:02. > :55:21.Wells brothers. They re-elect Cork. Loads of time. Huge! That was

:55:22. > :55:27.beautiful! He is just testing the water for the finals, if he goes

:55:28. > :55:31.through. I am only used by the Americans, they look sober news.

:55:32. > :55:40.They are too afraid to celebrate, they do not know what the score is

:55:41. > :55:43.going to be. Nobody does! Gus Kenworthy, I think we are agreed,

:55:44. > :55:56.and the judges will be with us, a very clean run. He used that so

:55:57. > :56:06.well. The tail grab. Really solid. This is the left side 12. Huge. That

:56:07. > :56:17.might have been a 16. I think so. I stand corrected, I am the least

:56:18. > :56:27.experienced. Still, good run. A gently confident smile on his face.

:56:28. > :56:37.He will be happy with that. I would watch him in finals. It is not an

:56:38. > :56:47.improvement. Definitely a 16 on the second hit? 12! It was the 12, OK.

:56:48. > :56:53.Josiah Wells, riding in pipe and slopestyle, such a talented and

:56:54. > :56:58.experienced skier. If anybody has worked out what the judges are

:56:59. > :57:03.looking for, it will be him. He qualified for the slopestyle at the

:57:04. > :57:06.last World Cup in Switzerland. Currently in 10th place. He is in

:57:07. > :57:11.the finals at the moment, that he will want to improve on that, and

:57:12. > :57:19.secure his place, take the stress out of the last 16 riders. Very

:57:20. > :57:26.smooth. He just held the 270. Really nice. A hard landing, he did not get

:57:27. > :57:42.that much part of the kicker. A switch left double ten. When we

:57:43. > :57:49.were talking about the landings, you said the judges will look for the

:57:50. > :57:53.way you land, like having Geoff capes on your shoulders, you get

:57:54. > :57:58.pushed down towards your knees, your hands plunge the floor, you might

:57:59. > :58:08.not be trying to do it, but so much compression. Especially on such big

:58:09. > :58:16.jumps. It is another test. That landing was perfect, this one, it

:58:17. > :58:27.looks like there might be atheist down, right in front of the judges.

:58:28. > :58:35.Rocking the safety grab. He is on 82.8 at the moment. He needs only

:58:36. > :58:39.0.2 more to move up into ninth place. That would take Bobby Brown

:58:40. > :58:59.down a place. He looks a bit like Lion-O. He would

:59:00. > :59:09.have fitted in in the 70s, perfectly! There is a huge

:59:10. > :59:17.travelling Kiwi contingent. A strong showing in the women's slopestyle,

:59:18. > :59:21.women's free skiing. But now, it is the turn of James Woods. He is

:59:22. > :59:28.currently in third place. A really nice first run, what do you reckon?

:59:29. > :59:33.I am not sure whether he will try to increase his score, maybe a bit

:59:34. > :59:40.cleaner, but I am not sure what he can do. It was pretty solid. Is it

:59:41. > :59:46.safe to say that he is safe? I do not think so. I do not think anybody

:59:47. > :59:57.is safe at this point. Still a lot of big names to go. Look at the

:59:58. > :00:03.lovely 450 out of the down rail. He is arguably one of the best rail

:00:04. > :00:12.riders, like Katie Summerhayes. Into the jumps, nice style on the 1080.

:00:13. > :00:20.It is lovely to see that this injury we have been speculating over for

:00:21. > :00:26.the last week... He has hit. He was moaning the moment he landed. Oh,

:00:27. > :00:31.no, and I really thought after the first run, he looked so smooth and

:00:32. > :00:41.solid. That landing has obviously... He can hardly get up.

:00:42. > :00:46.Given him a big jolt. Such a shame. James Woods actually injured his hip

:00:47. > :00:51.in training a couple of weeks ago and he has been struggling with it.

:00:52. > :01:03.We see the 1260 and as he stretches out the right leg... It is the right

:01:04. > :01:12.hip. The left hip was the one he didn't extend. He will sit on the

:01:13. > :01:16.first run score. At the moment, he will be going third last in the

:01:17. > :01:29.finals. Which is a lovely position to be in, look at that course. Right

:01:30. > :01:46.now, it is a computer game style slopestyle course that will be

:01:47. > :01:50.attacked by Harle Harlaut. He is one of the big remaining threats to the

:01:51. > :01:55.top five places. A gold-medal at the X Games. He almost got hung up but

:01:56. > :02:15.he held on. Coming into the jumps. Backwards now, Switch. Switch

:02:16. > :02:23.butter, double ten. He needs something very special, having been

:02:24. > :02:26.so loose on the first jump. It is looking good. When they first

:02:27. > :02:30.arrived and started practising before the Olympics started, there

:02:31. > :02:34.was a lot of controversy about the course and how it is running, maybe

:02:35. > :02:42.it is dangerous. He came out on Twitter and he said, everyone needs

:02:43. > :02:47.to chill, let's have a good time. Enough of the negativity. It is the

:02:48. > :02:54.Olympics, look how lucky we are to be here. It is the landing on this

:02:55. > :03:01.one I think the judges will pull apart. We have seen them really

:03:02. > :03:09.punishing that. It would be such a shame to lose Henrik at this stage.

:03:10. > :03:15.Clare Balding will have a field day with his pants... Even by my

:03:16. > :03:28.standards, they are pretty ridiculous. He has even got a wing

:03:29. > :03:33.suit on! If you want to have a go at his pants, go for it! I think you

:03:34. > :03:37.have got solid ground! The judges are taking their time. I don't Inc

:03:38. > :03:48.is going to make it with that hand down. -- don't think. I think he is

:03:49. > :03:58.in. Really? I am going with Murray. Just because I prefer him to you! We

:03:59. > :04:04.missed his little message. He is one of the nicest guys, really

:04:05. > :04:09.respected. Friendly with everyone. As long as he is skiing, he is

:04:10. > :04:18.happy. A full house at the free skiing today. We have so much good

:04:19. > :04:30.action to come. That is embarking for his dogs... -- him barking.

:04:31. > :04:41.Really? ! That run will pick him up the field, whether it is going to

:04:42. > :04:47.put him in the field, we don't know. He is getting big laughs from

:04:48. > :04:55.everybody. We find the judges taking ages to get this go. You know there

:04:56. > :05:05.is a fairly heated debate going on in the judges' booth. I like it, he

:05:06. > :05:13.is always happy. This is your time in the spotlight.

:05:14. > :05:29.Apparently he is a big Harry Potter fan. There you go... It was enough!

:05:30. > :05:43.The judges have spoken. Harlaut makes it into 10th place. Tribondeau

:05:44. > :05:48.of Austria will be heartbroken, he has been pushed out. He has won last

:05:49. > :05:57.chance to better the bubble score which is now 81.4. He has a big bag

:05:58. > :06:05.of tricks. You could say he is perhaps lacking a bit of style. He

:06:06. > :06:11.got 80.2 on the first run. That might cost him. Seemingly judges do

:06:12. > :06:16.not qualify style in the judging category. Of course style comes with

:06:17. > :06:20.control and execution. They won't be marking him on the fact that he

:06:21. > :06:25.stands up through these spins, that he looks really upright on the

:06:26. > :06:34.rails. It comes down purely to the technicality of the tricks. Triple

:06:35. > :06:43.14 at the bottom, DGC that? -- did you see that? You have to say in

:06:44. > :06:49.comparison to Harlaut's run comedy didn't have the tee on the run but

:06:50. > :06:51.-- on the rails but on the kickers, he has gone to town. Just 17 years

:06:52. > :07:10.of age. A He has missed the grab and that will

:07:11. > :07:17.cost him. Not to their, though. -- not there, though. Maybe that is

:07:18. > :07:24.another strategy, fishing hooks on your gloves. No danger with the

:07:25. > :07:34.triple here, high mute grab, almost knows. -- almost

:07:35. > :07:47.He was really square on the landing. It is a cruel world committee did

:07:48. > :07:55.not make the cut. -- cruel world, he did not make the cut. You are

:07:56. > :08:02.incentivising good, stylish riding. Tribondeau misses out on the finals

:08:03. > :08:08.by 0.6. Just catching the front of the Royal... That is the last noise

:08:09. > :08:13.you want to hear as you jump onto a rail. It is the worst noise in the

:08:14. > :08:27.world when you are actually doing it. Pancreas of France, sitting on a

:08:28. > :08:31.68. He needs 81.4 to make top 12. Right side 800, Switch double 900,

:08:32. > :08:49.going massive. He had the judo wild kick. Really

:08:50. > :08:56.deep into the landing again. Talk us through the left and right side

:08:57. > :08:59.spins. All skiers have a preference. There is a preference. If you are

:09:00. > :09:05.standing on the spot and to jump in the air and do 360, everyone would

:09:06. > :09:11.have a common way, a preferred side. It is usually left side. But the

:09:12. > :09:16.judges want to see variation so they want to see spinning left and right.

:09:17. > :09:20.It is not necessarily natural and unnatural, because so many riders do

:09:21. > :09:29.both. They just want to see a variation. The left spin here,

:09:30. > :09:39.spinning anticlockwise into the Lui Kang. The landing switch, popped out

:09:40. > :09:58.on the left ski slightly. 69.4 for Pancras. He stays in 17th. No

:09:59. > :10:06.movement for him. Under Hunder is one of the big names, he has the

:10:07. > :10:14.firepower to move up. -- Hunder is one of the big names. No half

:10:15. > :10:31.measures with this lad. 270 off on the down bar. 450 off. Right side

:10:32. > :10:39.12. Switch now. Oh! Switch 12. A double cork would add a bit to the

:10:40. > :10:45.variety. And what a landing! He will be so happy and relieved to get

:10:46. > :10:49.that. He landed like he was on the parade ground, arms by his side,

:10:50. > :10:55.absolutely upright. He said, if the judges want it clean, that is what I

:10:56. > :11:02.will give them. This is where he just held on. He just comes off a

:11:03. > :11:07.little early. He held on as long as he could. A lot of people would have

:11:08. > :11:14.given up before that. He has the grab screwed and solid.

:11:15. > :11:24.-- the grab good and solid. He spends as much time in the panel

:11:25. > :11:27.beaters as he does on his skis. If you are prepared to risk it all, you

:11:28. > :11:34.can come up with runs like this. Look at that landing. It is one of

:11:35. > :11:45.the best we have seen. I reckon this is top five. He doesn't even bend

:11:46. > :11:54.his legs when he lands. The Norwegians need something to

:11:55. > :11:57.celebrate. 75.4... It is my turn to be humiliated! I thought that was a

:11:58. > :12:07.fantastic run. I am not agreeing with that at all. I am baffled. I

:12:08. > :12:12.could not see a fault. The judges are not doing their best to

:12:13. > :12:20.showcase... It was big, technical and clean. Adelisse from France

:12:21. > :12:32.steps up now. He is looking to make amends for his first run. Off the

:12:33. > :12:40.canon, 450, deckchair. A good phrase. Thanks. It comes from the

:12:41. > :12:44.old days of snowboarding weather was considered a good landing! -- where

:12:45. > :12:58.that was considered. Having dropped that third element of

:12:59. > :13:04.the rails, is it all over for Adelisse? He had that terrible crash

:13:05. > :13:08.of the first rail in the first run, you has a slightly better run and he

:13:09. > :13:13.will be able to leave the Olympics with some dignity, but he won't have

:13:14. > :13:22.made the finals. Disappointment for the Frenchman. Let's have a look

:13:23. > :13:30.through the top places. Christensen is in first.

:13:31. > :13:36.James Woods dropped his second run because of the hip injury, he landed

:13:37. > :13:42.relatively cleanly but it looked like he had a bit too much pressure

:13:43. > :13:53.on that hip. Hopefully he can settle it down. He is potentially one run

:13:54. > :14:07.from Olympic glory. Having a cereal box named after him! Exactly!

:14:08. > :14:13.Braaten should be next, is usually talented. As been said to suffer

:14:14. > :14:20.nervous but he put down a belter of a first run. We thought that score

:14:21. > :14:27.belied the run itself. He has got all the tricks, good on the rails.

:14:28. > :14:38.He is the complete package. Looking to best his brother. 650 on, wallop!

:14:39. > :14:42.An incredible first rail. So much jeopardy in going for that. You have

:14:43. > :14:53.to have so much confidence to know you have got that perfectly down.

:14:54. > :14:58.Lovely double. Tucked up into that one, wanted to hold his speed into

:14:59. > :15:07.the shadow of the kicker. Really nice, switch into this final jump.

:15:08. > :15:12.Switch double 12, great run! He stamps his fist down, so please to

:15:13. > :15:21.land that. After his first run ended in disappointment. He was one of the

:15:22. > :15:25.writers from the first run who we thought was unfairly judged, we

:15:26. > :15:30.thought he had had a strong run. Maybe the judges are seeing

:15:31. > :15:37.something, a lack of variety may be, that we are not. The three big

:15:38. > :15:47.ones, take, clean, technical, seem to be there with him. They will just

:15:48. > :15:55.wait and see what comes in. He is on 79.2, he will need 81.4 to get

:15:56. > :16:01.inside the top 12. If he gets any more than 83, he will have pushed

:16:02. > :16:08.Bobby Brown into the bubble spot. I think this will be enough. He has

:16:09. > :16:15.held the grab for at least 540. He is happy. It is normally an

:16:16. > :16:23.indication, if a rider comes down and they are screaming... It is

:16:24. > :16:31.enough. One of our big names, Bobby Brown, is on the bubble. He is in

:16:32. > :16:37.12th place. One more raider -- rider in, he will drop. James Woods. In

:16:38. > :16:42.serious pain, he did not like the feel, and he decided to save himself

:16:43. > :16:50.-- he was not in serious pain. He is still in good shape for the final. I

:16:51. > :17:06.cannot lie, that is a relief. I cannot hold it in! That is relief,

:17:07. > :17:10.big relief. The Italian. The winner of a freeride world tour, a big

:17:11. > :17:21.mountain come position, whereby it is right the peaks that you see on

:17:22. > :17:29.the top of those pictures. He is 24. He does not look that comfortable

:17:30. > :17:43.through the rails, or not strong. A double 12. Decent enough landing. A

:17:44. > :17:49.bit loose. Switch double ten. Switch double ten, the opposite way. That

:17:50. > :17:56.is really nice. They may not have been super technical. You compare

:17:57. > :18:02.him to the previous rider on the rails, you are nowhere near. But the

:18:03. > :18:11.moment he gets down into the kicker is, he is looking really dig and

:18:12. > :18:19.clean. He just seemed to come alive. He is currently in 20 Ninth Place on

:18:20. > :18:26.people move up a long way, but he will need 83 to displace Bobby Brown

:18:27. > :18:34.out of the top 12. He had a Switch double ten, the one-way, and then

:18:35. > :18:42.one the other way. And the rotational. He has no preference for

:18:43. > :18:48.which way he rotates! We talk about right side and left side, Switch, at

:18:49. > :18:51.this level, you would expect that most of them are quite comfortable

:18:52. > :18:56.going all four ways. It is interesting, you say the same in

:18:57. > :19:03.snowboarding, but there are tell-tale signs. Not quite enough.

:19:04. > :19:09.Is it fair to say that James Woods is one of those for whom it is

:19:10. > :19:15.almost impossible to see which way his natural rotational is? Yes, he

:19:16. > :19:21.is so consistent in every way. If you had for jumps, most skiers would

:19:22. > :19:31.switch left and right and go/and right. You would not be able to tell

:19:32. > :19:42.their natural way. James Woods is still in third place. We do not yet

:19:43. > :19:48.have a skier from Finland in the top 12. I do not think we are going to,

:19:49. > :19:54.that was a tap. He did not manage to slide it comfortable in. He will

:19:55. > :20:05.know that already. He will have that in the back of his mind. Such an

:20:06. > :20:11.amazing three jumps from his opponent, but the rails did let him

:20:12. > :20:19.down, you cannot get a solid score without a good rails score. Even

:20:20. > :20:33.though he missed the top rail, he gave it a good go on the jumps. It

:20:34. > :20:40.is a shame, that let him down. The judges are being so harsh, if you do

:20:41. > :20:44.not land them properly. Yes. Everybody is having a tough time

:20:45. > :20:54.with the judges, they are penalising any tiny mistake heavily.

:20:55. > :21:16.For full spin is. Disappointment. A lovely lad. He has enjoyed his

:21:17. > :21:34.Olympic experience, though. Seven riders left, including this one.

:21:35. > :21:50.He has dropped it, did not manage to hold on. Inkling about the judging

:21:51. > :22:01.and the way it is going, you get to the bottom, it is guesswork for us.

:22:02. > :22:05.If there ever a point as a rider that did get to the bottom, you look

:22:06. > :22:12.at the score board, and it flashes up 53.7, do you lose your

:22:13. > :22:18.composure? Do you want to shout at the judging booth? You are just

:22:19. > :22:23.happy to be at the bottom, and if you have landed your run, you take

:22:24. > :22:29.it on the chin. It is in the judges' hands, there is nothing more

:22:30. > :22:35.you can do. As many times as it does not go your way, it can go your way.

:22:36. > :22:46.Yes, it works both ways. If you fall over, there is nobody to blame but

:22:47. > :22:57.yourself. The American is currently in first place. This is going to be

:22:58. > :23:04.a really comfortable experiment with his line. Give us a good indication

:23:05. > :23:10.of what he has got planned for the finals. Looking at the top 12 at the

:23:11. > :23:16.moment, Bobby Brown has got six riders left, he knows that Josiah

:23:17. > :23:20.Wells is above him, James is the only name he will be worried about.

:23:21. > :23:37.So solid. Switch left double ten. Absolutely

:23:38. > :23:45.massive. Absolutely massive. Yet another perfect run. He has made

:23:46. > :23:58.this look very easy. His confidence will be flowing, going into the

:23:59. > :24:08.finals. Look at these replays. All of those wales dutifully locked in

:24:09. > :24:12.my through the middle of the skis. He switched it out and vote a kid at

:24:13. > :24:18.the other way, it is a masterclass in technical skiing. It puts him in

:24:19. > :24:27.a good position for the finals, they run it in reverse order, so he will

:24:28. > :24:28.drop last. He will undoubtedly retain his top spot, he improves his

:24:29. > :24:42.score. If you are just surfacing from the

:24:43. > :24:49.shower or from under the duvet, good morning, 8:25am in the UK, it is

:24:50. > :24:54.12:25pm here in Sochi, a beautiful day, and we have been enjoying the

:24:55. > :25:00.qualifying for the men's slopestyle, we have seen more than we can fall

:25:01. > :25:04.at times, Henrik Harlaut, that was interesting! James Woods, this was

:25:05. > :25:15.his second run. As you saw, he just perhaps tweaked

:25:16. > :25:20.the injury that he had been suffering from since last Friday.

:25:21. > :25:24.That was of the first big kicker. But he seems to be OK, from what we

:25:25. > :25:34.have been hearing from the commentary box. In fact, it was the

:25:35. > :25:42.second kicker. This is where we heard the yell. We wonder if that

:25:43. > :25:48.will inhibit him from the final, at 9:30am. Let's hear from him.

:25:49. > :25:56.Happy with the first run, the second run, it looks like you tweak your

:25:57. > :26:03.hip again. Yes, exactly. I wanted both runs, my first run was good, I

:26:04. > :26:06.am really happy, but I did not want to give up on the second run, I

:26:07. > :26:11.wanted to make the most of the experience, does hopefully I will be

:26:12. > :26:20.through to finals. On the second take-off, I set it a bit funny, so

:26:21. > :26:24.there was a little twang. When the trick was not executed perfectly...

:26:25. > :26:29.You are chasing perfection, you will not be rewarded for anything less.

:26:30. > :26:35.It was not the pain that pulled you out? It was more the fact that it

:26:36. > :26:41.was not spot-on? I had a twang of pain, it really hurts, so it was the

:26:42. > :26:45.pain, and once I realised that the trick was not perfect, that was the

:26:46. > :26:50.extra thing that said, do not risk it, do not make it worse, just take

:26:51. > :26:55.it for what it is. It looks like he will be in

:26:56. > :27:01.reasonable shape for the final, at 9:30am. In ten minutes, the second

:27:02. > :27:06.run of the women's skeleton, the competition got under way at 7:30am

:27:07. > :27:12.your time, we can show you what happened, because two of our chief

:27:13. > :27:17.medal hopes, not just in this event, but in the whole of the Olympics,

:27:18. > :27:20.are going, Lizzy Yarnold and Shelley Rudman, who won the silver medal

:27:21. > :27:22.eight years ago. This is what happened in the first run of the

:27:23. > :27:33.four. The number one American, the number

:27:34. > :27:40.two in the world. We do not know what sort of pace she is in, her

:27:41. > :27:44.training has been spasmodic, but she is a former world champion, she was

:27:45. > :27:52.in fourth in the last Olympic Games, she can slide. Amy, you were a great

:27:53. > :27:57.starter, you know that Noelle Pikus-Pace is not the best starter,

:27:58. > :28:02.but she can make it up. That was a great start from her, she will be

:28:03. > :28:07.really happy with that. Rumours that she has been really Elvis week, back

:28:08. > :28:16.problems, she has only gone on the track a few times. A solid run so

:28:17. > :28:21.far. This is a tricky changeover. Her feet flailing around. They do

:28:22. > :28:29.not have as much control as the luge. You have got to get the

:28:30. > :28:33.position right, get your setup perfect. She has had quite a few

:28:34. > :28:38.skits, a bit out of control, that she will be more nervous than the

:28:39. > :28:48.others, from her lack of training runs. She has set the target. That

:28:49. > :28:52.is her husband, cheering her on. She will be pretty pleased with that, it

:28:53. > :29:01.is a track record, to start off with. The old track record, 58.98,

:29:02. > :29:06.held by a fellow American. The ice must be in tremendous condition, we

:29:07. > :29:13.knew that. We saw it in the luge, and that is half the battle. The ice

:29:14. > :29:16.is amazing, this track is the best I have ever seen, you can see the

:29:17. > :29:25.shine on the ice, really perfect conditions. The Russians have done

:29:26. > :29:30.proud for the track. If any British spectators are wondering who this

:29:31. > :29:35.lady is, Lizzie Yarnold, she has been around for a few years, she has

:29:36. > :29:40.already won a World Championship, four world cups, and now she is

:29:41. > :29:48.going for Olympic gold. She won the World Cup season this year. That is

:29:49. > :29:53.tremendous. Even quicker than the old start record. She has powered it

:29:54. > :29:59.off, nothing conservative about that. She has given it all, she will

:30:00. > :30:05.be so pleased with that. Her form is perfect. Head down, shoulders down,

:30:06. > :30:37.fit together, so much more aerodynamic, clean lines. A she is

:30:38. > :30:45.13. Two tenths is lead. She has done it by a quarter of a second. 58.43,

:30:46. > :30:51.another track record. This competition has got off to a

:30:52. > :30:58.blistering start. First of all a track record by Pikus-Pace. And

:30:59. > :31:04.secondly by Lizzy Yarnold. She is going to be happy, she took a clip

:31:05. > :31:08.out of 11, 12-13 is wobbly. It is hard to get out there I get the

:31:09. > :31:13.correct angle. It is an uphill section so that is one area that

:31:14. > :31:19.could have lost her time. That little kink, they call it the

:31:20. > :31:23.chicane. The tap is probably better than trying to make any kind of

:31:24. > :31:29.steer. Sometimes it is easier to take the tap than fight the steer.

:31:30. > :31:33.Shelley Rudman, the best-known of the British sliders at the moment.

:31:34. > :31:40.She has been around for quite some time. She was six at the last

:31:41. > :31:47.Olympic Games. She gets a silver medal in 2006.

:31:48. > :31:58.She starts her Olympic campaign here. She gets away well. Anything

:31:59. > :32:03.close to 5.10 will be good, she is ready giving away two tenths of a

:32:04. > :32:08.second to Yarnold, she is a lighter athlete, not as powerful in the

:32:09. > :32:12.start that this is a long track and it gives someone of Shelley's

:32:13. > :32:16.experience a chance to reel back in Yarnold. She doesn't have the

:32:17. > :32:21.momentum from that start, she will have to work it down the bottom.

:32:22. > :32:28.Between five and 15 is the ready technical part, you have got to nail

:32:29. > :32:31.those lines. So far, her run is looking really solid. She has

:32:32. > :32:38.struggled in the major uphill sections in training but she is

:32:39. > :32:42.looking good so far. Back up the hill, she took a clip, her leg hit

:32:43. > :32:49.off the wall. She is not going to trouble Yarnold now. Shelley Rudman

:32:50. > :32:58.is coming through and just finishing in third place. It means she is

:32:59. > :33:04.behind Pikus-Pace. That really was a disappointing run for Shelley

:33:05. > :33:10.Rudman. She took the same clip as Lizzy out of 11 but she hit it

:33:11. > :33:14.harder. It pinned her a cross onto the other side of the wall and would

:33:15. > :33:19.have slowed her down. A little bit of the wrong angle. She took the hit

:33:20. > :33:41.out of 14, two big hits. Here we go with Nikitina. Wow, she

:33:42. > :33:46.has beaten Lizzy Yarnold's start, it is phenomenal. She is one of the

:33:47. > :33:51.Russian quick sprinters, it is a perfect start. It is long and flat

:33:52. > :33:57.and if you are a sprinter, you just go for it. She is the junior world

:33:58. > :34:01.champion and raining European Championship the bid has gone from

:34:02. > :34:08.green to White at that split. Three hundredths, it is a very small

:34:09. > :34:14.margin. It is touch and go. She is having a beautiful run. Lizzy

:34:15. > :34:20.Yarnold has got a lot of weight behind her and continues to have the

:34:21. > :34:27.speed down the bottom. Exciting to see how well she will do at the

:34:28. > :34:32.finish line. It is very close now. It is just outside, my goodness.

:34:33. > :34:37.Nikitina finishes within five hundredths of a second of Lizzy

:34:38. > :34:43.Yarnold. We know we have got a contest on our hands now. My heart

:34:44. > :34:48.is beating way too fast. The Russians didn't do at all the

:34:49. > :34:55.training runs, I think they have been keeping hidden steers up their

:34:56. > :35:09.sleeves. A great start. The start was phenomenal. So quick. Then she

:35:10. > :35:17.got down and tucked in nicely. Here is an athlete that excites, it is

:35:18. > :35:25.Katie Uhlaender from the United States, a pocket dynamo. She gets

:35:26. > :35:28.away quite well. She comes from a family of world-class athletes, her

:35:29. > :35:34.dad was a world-class baseball player. She had a nasty knock and

:35:35. > :35:42.was unconscious at the beginning of the season. It has caused certain

:35:43. > :35:48.problems this year. Two years ago she was the number one in the world.

:35:49. > :35:53.Katie Uhlaender has been up and down. She has had the results, been

:35:54. > :35:58.on the podium, then had a year that has been off. I hope this is the

:35:59. > :36:03.year she comes back. She has always wanted a medal so this is really

:36:04. > :36:10.important for her. A beautiful line in the steep uphill section. That

:36:11. > :36:15.was perfect. She can carry her weight, she almost qualified for the

:36:16. > :36:19.Olympics as a weightlifter in London, she is that powerful. She

:36:20. > :36:26.wanted to compete in summer and winter and she almost got her place

:36:27. > :36:32.in the weightlifting, but not quite. She's going to be thrilled with

:36:33. > :36:38.fourth place, she is really happy and let's hope she stays up there.

:36:39. > :36:43.That gives her a shot at a medal place. It is early doors yet as far

:36:44. > :36:50.as the overall positions are concerned. But it is possible.

:36:51. > :36:55.STUDIO: We are moments from the second run but let's remind you of

:36:56. > :37:03.the standings. Lizzy Yarnold has the slender advantage over Nikitina. The

:37:04. > :37:17.Russian crowds at the Sanki centre are thrilled. Katie Uhlaender is

:37:18. > :37:20.also one of the favourites. Lizzy Yarnold has been consistently

:37:21. > :37:23.fastest in the training runs in the build-up to this event. I wonder

:37:24. > :37:30.what has made her so dominant in this sport all season. We can ask

:37:31. > :37:38.Paul and Colin. At the Sanki sliding centre. What has been -- what

:37:39. > :37:48.pressure has been exerted after the first run? It is a surprising bit of

:37:49. > :37:53.pressure. Everybody expected Pikus-Pace and Uhlaender to be up

:37:54. > :38:02.there but not Nikitina. She is a very solid performer. She has a

:38:03. > :38:06.massive start and you have to be a great athlete in skeleton, you need

:38:07. > :38:12.the power start. The only person who has out started her is Nikitina but

:38:13. > :38:19.Lizzy Yarnold is in the lead at the moment.

:38:20. > :38:24.STUDIO: We have three Russians in the top six and you wonder... We saw

:38:25. > :38:29.this in Vancouver, the amount of practice that you get on it, do you

:38:30. > :38:36.think it accounts for the form that we have seen from the Russian

:38:37. > :38:48.athletes? To a certain extent. Nikitina in particular, she has held

:38:49. > :38:56.her own to say the least. Easing up on Lizzy Yarnold. I am not sure

:38:57. > :39:06.about the other Russians, we will have to wait and see. I would see

:39:07. > :39:14.Potylitsina moving downwards but that remains to be seen. We move on

:39:15. > :39:28.to round two of the four rounds of women's skeleton. Colin, it is all

:39:29. > :39:40.for Lizzy Yarnold to do. Yes, if Nikitina didn't

:39:41. > :39:47.Nikitina took the start from Yarnold but Yarnold has the track record.

:39:48. > :39:51.This is the aggregate of four runs. Lizzy Yarnold can soak up pressure,

:39:52. > :39:58.she really enjoys it. I think that is in her favour. Nikitina is

:39:59. > :40:10.playing to the crowd, she is enjoying the pressure. Pikus-Pace is

:40:11. > :40:16.very quiet, think it is due to illness. She is giving away so much

:40:17. > :40:19.to the other two. As for the rest outside the top three, they could

:40:20. > :40:28.all be battling because they still have three runs. We do not know who

:40:29. > :40:35.is going to get the medal yet. Here we go with the first competitor

:40:36. > :40:39.in round two, Pikus-Pace from Australia who took the heavy knock

:40:40. > :40:45.halfway down. She is going to have to really produce something to get

:40:46. > :40:52.in amongst the top 20 -- Chaffer from Australia. This start is

:40:53. > :40:56.identical to what she did in the first one. It is really hot at this

:40:57. > :41:02.track, have never been at such a warm skeleton track, it is maybe

:41:03. > :41:07.plus ten today. The refrigeration system is being put to the test.

:41:08. > :41:09.It'll be interesting to see if the track degrades. There are a lot of

:41:10. > :41:17.blinds up to try to protect the track on the sunny bed. Coming out

:41:18. > :41:24.into the changeover -- the sunny it. She is through 11, down this long

:41:25. > :41:30.straight and a big hit by Chaffer. We are going in reverse order is of

:41:31. > :41:33.their placings so we have to wait quite a while before we see Lizzy

:41:34. > :41:44.Yarnold, the Brit, who leads, she will be last.

:41:45. > :41:52.That is considerably faster than she achieved in the first round. She

:41:53. > :41:57.took some massive hits in the first run. She has managed to keep her

:41:58. > :42:03.cool and do a good second run. She will pack away as lead, go back to

:42:04. > :42:09.the village and try to come up tomorrow evening -- pack away her

:42:10. > :42:15.sled. She is a top 15 rider. When she nails it.

:42:16. > :42:32.Plenty of support and now we move on to the second athlete, Mazilu of

:42:33. > :42:41.Romania, just a shade under the one-minute area in the first round.

:42:42. > :42:45.-- barrier. They go in one of the bobsleigh spurs which makes it a bit

:42:46. > :42:48.trickier for the skeleton athletes. Occasionally they popped out of

:42:49. > :42:57.those at the start and they can smack off an early wall but luckily

:42:58. > :43:01.that has not happened so far. Mazilu was carrying an advantage of 15

:43:02. > :43:10.hundredths of a second. That is a horrible slide up the hill to six.

:43:11. > :43:17.Not too good at all and she will most caught it there. -- she almost.

:43:18. > :43:23.A bit too high off the exit and she's bouncing from right to left.

:43:24. > :43:31.She is too late of every exit at the moment, she needs to make her steer

:43:32. > :43:36.early. She did there, that was fine. You take an early steer and a second

:43:37. > :43:43.steer, my goodness... The second wave was up by the woodwork, failed

:43:44. > :43:51.to steer totally. Chaffer has run fast enough to stay ahead of Mazilu.

:43:52. > :44:01.Goodness me. Everybody's heart was in the mouth, watching this athlete

:44:02. > :44:07.come down on that occasion. Dear me. We still have 18 athletes to go.

:44:08. > :44:11.They will see someone with a slight time advantage over the next. That

:44:12. > :44:18.was a tricky part of the track and look at this. So close to the

:44:19. > :44:22.woodwork and she took a big wave and then the second centrifugal force

:44:23. > :44:28.sucks you back up again and if you don't steer through it, you will

:44:29. > :44:35.slam into the woodwork. Komuro of Japan.

:44:36. > :44:48.An interesting view... They have hundreds of little spikes on the

:44:49. > :44:54.ends of the issues to get a grip with the ice, it doesn't always

:44:55. > :44:58.guarantee ice, especially -- doesn't always guarantee grip especially of

:44:59. > :45:04.the ice is cold. The light has gone green, she was carrying an advantage

:45:05. > :45:13.of about two tenths of a second. Make it about a quarter of a second.

:45:14. > :45:18.It was a clean, simple tap. A lot of the athletes are deciding the tap is

:45:19. > :45:29.almost worth it. Just coming a bit late out of that one. She has lost a

:45:30. > :45:35.bit of speed. The Australian, it is no surprise she is taking the

:45:36. > :45:45.scalps. She is a top-10 slider. We could see her sitting in the leaders

:45:46. > :45:55.box for a while now. Once again, the Australian stays at the top.

:45:56. > :46:02.We still have the top 17 to come. That is not forget Lizzie Yarnold,

:46:03. > :46:06.coming down last. Shelley Rudman is in 12th place after the first run,

:46:07. > :46:12.roughly one second behind Lizzie Yarnold. To the bronze medal

:46:13. > :46:16.position she is three quarters of a second. It will be tough for her to

:46:17. > :46:23.pull it back and get towards the medals. Maybe top eight or top six

:46:24. > :46:25.is all she can expect. But we are in the prime position, with Lizzie

:46:26. > :46:31.Yarnold, she will be coming down last. She will have to sit and wait.

:46:32. > :46:46.Watch each one of these sliders come down.

:46:47. > :46:59.That was a good start. She is a brilliant starter. 4.96 is

:47:00. > :47:04.phenomenal, only 0.01 seconds away from Lizzie Yarnold. She choose to

:47:05. > :47:14.have the start record until Lizzie Yarnold took it away from her.

:47:15. > :47:23.Just staying ahead. She has dropped the lead. Her speed has dropped, she

:47:24. > :47:29.is banking off every upright she can lay her hands on. That is all right.

:47:30. > :47:35.Through the final colour, up the hill. Not great speed. She has lost

:47:36. > :47:42.it through the final couple of corners. The Australian cannot

:47:43. > :47:54.believe she is in the leaders box for so long. That is tough. She will

:47:55. > :48:02.not be thrilled with that. A magnificent start. One-handed. She

:48:03. > :48:12.died down with catlike dexterity, she gets her body onto the sled,

:48:13. > :48:21.beautiful. That is a regular touch. That was not so much a touch as a

:48:22. > :48:33.body slam. This is the Latvian who is aiming to take the Australian of

:48:34. > :48:45.the leaderboard. Five foot four, 130 L BS. Away we go. That is good

:48:46. > :48:49.loading. Just in the lead. A lot of that comes from the very first run,

:48:50. > :48:53.she is carrying forward a very good advantage on the Australian. It is a

:48:54. > :49:13.quick start than the Australian. You spot the end of the uphill

:49:14. > :49:24.corner as you go onto the apex. She is going well. A good, clean run.

:49:25. > :49:30.One of the first sliders we have seen Miss the left-hand wall out of

:49:31. > :49:41.corner in 11, shows -- so she will keep her lead up. She will go into

:49:42. > :49:53.the lead. The lead was dropped as she came over the line. It could

:49:54. > :49:56.have been even more. The Latvians are one of the nations who have had

:49:57. > :50:02.a bit more time here, there is all kinds of time training, the

:50:03. > :50:06.Canadians gave the Russians a bit of time four years ago, and they have

:50:07. > :50:12.been repaid the favour. The Russians and the Latvians always get on. It

:50:13. > :50:17.is not surprising they are doing well. You only get six official

:50:18. > :50:26.training runs leading into this, it is not easy to learn a track like

:50:27. > :50:31.that. Not very much indeed. Here is Melissa Hollandsworth, she won a

:50:32. > :50:36.bronze medal eight years ago. She finished in fifth place in 2010.

:50:37. > :50:45.Everybody is hoping she can get into a place for a medal. But she will

:50:46. > :50:52.have to do it this time. The time is just shy of watch achieved last

:50:53. > :50:58.time. It is not a brilliant start. But it is not bad, wetter than we

:50:59. > :51:00.have seen her do. She has had a pity poor season, but she has got better

:51:01. > :51:15.with every slide. Watch her comeback down the bottom.

:51:16. > :51:21.She gets great aerodynamics. Her speed can be exceptional, that is

:51:22. > :51:28.why she was favourite in Vancouver. She is not pulling this back, I am

:51:29. > :51:34.surprised. Straight down the middle, that is the important thing. She

:51:35. > :51:43.just touches on the right-hand side. She seems to be doing all right. She

:51:44. > :51:53.is doing all right. That is a big surprise. The place. -- second

:51:54. > :51:57.place. That is her father, with the cowboy hat on. She likes to ride

:51:58. > :52:06.rodeo in the summer. A real daredevil. With a bit of a

:52:07. > :52:12.retirement gap between 2010 and now, and trying out so many different

:52:13. > :52:16.sleds before returning to the old Olympics lead from four years ago,

:52:17. > :52:21.it has mucked around with her head a bit. That slowed her down quite a

:52:22. > :52:50.lot. Eyeballs out, she has a good lead

:52:51. > :52:58.already. Not a bad start, she carries forward an advantage over

:52:59. > :53:05.the Latvian of 0.21. It is not surprising she is in the lead. It

:53:06. > :53:15.was a similar start to the Latvian. Digging her left toe in. Working

:53:16. > :53:22.like a tiny anchor. It is looking good.

:53:23. > :53:33.She hit that hard. She is still in the lead, but I am not sure for how

:53:34. > :53:42.much longer. This is going to be tight. Has she done enough? Yes, she

:53:43. > :53:51.has. My goodness. That takes her ahead of the Latvian. That could

:53:52. > :53:56.easily be recovered, once the third round starts tomorrow. We will have

:53:57. > :54:05.to wait and see. That could have been better, but it is not bad. A

:54:06. > :54:12.solid start. She loads well. They have a good programme, in New

:54:13. > :54:17.Zealand and Australia, they have targeted skeleton as one of the

:54:18. > :54:27.events they could do, because you do not need that much money. Janine

:54:28. > :54:35.Flock puts her helmet on. Any minute now, away we go.

:54:36. > :54:48.The atmosphere at the start is far different than it is down here.

:54:49. > :54:55.Except when they get going. She is ahead, not bad. She was carrying

:54:56. > :55:04.forward an advantage over the New Zealander of 0.05.

:55:05. > :55:22.She has gained just a tiny amount. It is solid. That is good.

:55:23. > :55:32.A very similar speed to the kiwi. She is just pulling away. But that

:55:33. > :55:42.was a hard-hit. I am not sure she will keep this lead. Coming down,

:55:43. > :55:53.the lead has increased. The kiwi was be celebrating there. That was very

:55:54. > :56:00.good indeed. She is lucky that the Kiwi slapped that war as well. She

:56:01. > :56:07.lost less lead, she is a heavier woman, that helps, the momentum, you

:56:08. > :56:16.can get away with it a bit more. Let's have a look at it. A bit of

:56:17. > :56:23.ice being kicked away. She was lucky, there is hoarfrost, ice, if

:56:24. > :56:33.you click a chunk, it can slow you down or send you into a slide.

:56:34. > :56:47.Shelley Rudman, being supported by her husband. He designed the sledge.

:56:48. > :56:56.It is so crucial. She is usually a good starter. This time, she has

:56:57. > :57:05.started well. She is already doing little head movements. She has an

:57:06. > :57:15.advantage over the Austrian of 0.01 seconds. She has gone behind. Let me

:57:16. > :57:21.bring in Amy Williams. Shelley Rudman has just lost a bit too

:57:22. > :57:24.Janine Flock. She has been getting better and better, every run she has

:57:25. > :57:30.done, you only get a limited amount of time on the track. I am expecting

:57:31. > :57:35.her to creep up, but you never know, the conditions could be slowing

:57:36. > :57:39.down. She has just gone ahead. She cannot afford to make a mistake, she

:57:40. > :57:45.does not. She is keeping clean lines, she has just corrected the

:57:46. > :57:56.mistake from the first run, so she is learning. She has improved. One

:57:57. > :58:06.of the only athlete that has improved during the last part of the

:58:07. > :58:11.course, superb. She stays in exactly the same place, for the time being.

:58:12. > :58:15.That is great for her, you never want to be shifting down positions,

:58:16. > :58:20.you always want to be creeping up, so she will be happy with that. A

:58:21. > :58:26.fair target would be to get into the top ten after this run, try and take

:58:27. > :58:30.another scalp or two, and then advance forward tomorrow, and hope

:58:31. > :58:35.others make mistakes, which they will do, because there will be

:58:36. > :58:42.tiredness and nerves. The chance of getting a medal is slim, but she

:58:43. > :58:48.could be up in the top six. Yes. After the excitement of Shelley

:58:49. > :58:52.Rudman, what about the German? She is coming through, she has been on

:58:53. > :58:55.the World Cup this season for the first time, and she is shining

:58:56. > :59:06.through as one of the new German hopefuls. She had a 0.03 advantage

:59:07. > :59:16.over them. Her momentum will not be as good. Can she start to pull this

:59:17. > :59:22.back on Shelley Rudman? She looks good. It is hard to say how much

:59:23. > :59:26.speed you get through the corners, it is all about perfecting those

:59:27. > :59:34.centimetres here and there, different angles. Shelley Rudman

:59:35. > :59:41.fans will be delighted at this. The way the graph is looking, it is

:59:42. > :59:45.going Shelley Rudman's way. She is a heavier woman up the hill, she has

:59:46. > :59:53.got better top end speed! She certainly has. There is no doubt

:59:54. > :59:57.about that. She has gone into the lead, the head of Shelley Rudman,

:59:58. > :00:06.who she was down on for most of that course. She is just in the lead,

:00:07. > :00:13.ahead of Shelley Rudman. Amy, when you are heavier, the bigger you are,

:00:14. > :00:19.the faster you fall, that is an advantage. It is tricky, people say,

:00:20. > :00:24.do you want to be big and heavy or small and slim? There is not one

:00:25. > :00:28.rule, but if you are big and heavy, it is an advantage. But if you hit a

:00:29. > :00:36.wall and you are heavier, you will slow down quicker. The German is in

:00:37. > :00:37.the lead, ahead of Shelley Rudman and Janine
