:00:42. > :00:47.It is another cold one at the Winter Olympics. Remember Sesame Street,

:00:48. > :00:50.the kids' show, slightly weird animals like the Cookie Monster, Big

:00:51. > :00:54.Bird, Kermit the frog? Well, they started each show by saying, today's

:00:55. > :00:59.programme is brought to you by the letter... Well, we hope that today's

:01:00. > :01:09.coverage from Sochi is brought to you by the letter G for gold.

:01:10. > :01:20.Lizzie Yarnold sitting in first place. In Sydney, five of our gold

:01:21. > :01:29.medals were won by a combined time differential of just over 0.5

:01:30. > :01:38.seconds. We will be live from 3:30pm with Lizzy Yarnold that the 40 PM.

:01:39. > :01:45.-- at 3:40pm. We are heading back up to the mountains. To decide who is

:01:46. > :02:10.the best all-round skier. Mauro Caviezel looking good out of

:02:11. > :02:22.the start. He is carving well and creating good angles. This might be

:02:23. > :02:29.good enough to give Switzerland provisional one, two. He is

:02:30. > :02:40.struggling, boxing his way back into a balanced position, but the damage

:02:41. > :02:48.is done. Again, same mistake. Just caught on the inside ski, could not

:02:49. > :03:08.release the skis from underneath him. The skis too close together.

:03:09. > :03:21.There is the leader. Sandro Viletta. The next is the Olympic super

:03:22. > :03:24.combined champion, Bode Miller. He will have to attack, it is the only

:03:25. > :03:31.chance he has of defending his title. He is in big trouble early

:03:32. > :03:36.on. It is not working and when it does not work it happens pretty

:03:37. > :03:41.fast. He can still ski boots slalom but he needs to have the right

:03:42. > :03:51.conditions and he is not coping with this course at all well today. As he

:03:52. > :04:00.managed to find any time in the middle part of the course -- has he?

:04:01. > :04:07.We will have a new super come on and Olympic champion. The gold medallist

:04:08. > :04:13.from four years ago has found the whole thing a little too tough.

:04:14. > :04:20.Third for the moment. Sandro Viletta leads. Bode Miller does not like the

:04:21. > :04:29.slushy conditions. He prefers it when it is icy so he can feel his

:04:30. > :04:58.way onto the course. His feeling for the skis does not help him at all

:04:59. > :05:02.when you have frozen/ / slush. Imagine if you were stood on

:05:03. > :05:12.bathroom Scales and you dropped down your weight, that is under waiting.

:05:13. > :05:26.He will turn his attention to the super-G on Sunday.

:05:27. > :05:33.The leader is Sandro Viletta from Switzerland. Adam Zampa is second

:05:34. > :05:55.with Bode Miller third. Beat Feuz on the hill. It is looking

:05:56. > :06:02.a little sluggish. His slalom days are behind him. He is good at high

:06:03. > :06:12.speed downhill racing. He is going to finish. Adam Zampa still in

:06:13. > :06:19.second and he put down a thunderous slalom challenge and Bode Miller has

:06:20. > :06:37.skied into third. No luck today for Beat Feuz. Action for him on Sunday.

:06:38. > :06:45.Dominik Paris is next to fight his way through the early stages of this

:06:46. > :06:59.slalom course. He has already got them sideways and climbing back

:07:00. > :07:03.uphill. Not a good start. We were comparing the physiology of the

:07:04. > :07:08.skiers to rugby players, very powerful athletes, and this is kind

:07:09. > :07:17.of like watching a front row forward finding the ball and trying to run

:07:18. > :07:26.down the wing at speed. It is not working for him.

:07:27. > :07:34.Sandro Viletta in the lead. They will be happy to see Dominik Paris

:07:35. > :07:40.ski like this because there is no danger to Sandro Viletta. The gold

:07:41. > :07:54.is whether Sandro Viletta, the silver is with Adam Zampa. He

:07:55. > :08:04.punched the air when he made it to the finish. Look at his recovery. He

:08:05. > :08:15.is smiling about it. This is the man who won called four years ago. He is

:08:16. > :08:27.struggling with the deteriorating course at the top. Having to deal

:08:28. > :08:39.with a lot of slush. He skis like a giant slalom skier. He lacks the

:08:40. > :08:42.explores of -- explosiveness needed. If we did not have the restriction

:08:43. > :08:53.of the fact that it is such a steep hill, then it would have favoured

:08:54. > :09:04.him. He is not quick enough on his feet. He will defend his Olympic

:09:05. > :09:19.giant slalom next week. Sandro Viletta leads. Adam Zampa could be

:09:20. > :09:29.end for a podium finish. -- could be in.

:09:30. > :09:49.The fastest eight men have still to come. It is the time difference. It

:09:50. > :09:58.is 1.14 the difference between Sandro Viletta and Adam Zampa. I can

:09:59. > :10:03.see that Sandro Viletta has a good chance of ending up on the podium

:10:04. > :10:12.full is the there are only two or three good slalom skiers left to ski

:10:13. > :10:22.of the seven left to ski. Including Ivica Kostelic. Ivica Kostelic has

:10:23. > :10:29.never won an Olympic gold. This could be his last chance before he

:10:30. > :10:42.bows out. Silver medallist in the Olympic downhill. Christof

:10:43. > :10:50.Innerhofer will ski the slalom in a similar quality to what we just saw

:10:51. > :11:06.from Dominik Paris, his compatriot. Hopefully he will ski better than

:11:07. > :11:12.them. Getting himself psyched up. Everything has changed, different

:11:13. > :11:25.boots, different skis, different poles.

:11:26. > :11:38.This is not bad. He is quick on his feet. Creating good angles. He is

:11:39. > :11:45.really going for it. He has done well in super combined in the past.

:11:46. > :12:04.Some tricky parts of the course approaching. Nice. He is just in

:12:05. > :12:20.front. Come on! He might have skidded himself out of contention.

:12:21. > :12:25.He is second. That was a very good slalom ski from Christof

:12:26. > :12:30.Innerhofer. He can be very happy with that. He is an out and out

:12:31. > :12:35.downhill specialist but he has maintained some slalom technique. He

:12:36. > :12:42.probably only trains half a dozen days of slalom every year. He will

:12:43. > :12:54.not train much in slalom. He is a downhill specialist. A parody of the

:12:55. > :13:09.ski flip. That is Bode Miller's wife. Christof Innerhofer has just

:13:10. > :13:27.skied into second. Ivica Kostelic's dad designed the course. It is cruel

:13:28. > :13:35.attack right from the start. -- full attack. He is losing time. He did

:13:36. > :13:44.not really attack. He has not had a great season, Ivica Kostelic. It is

:13:45. > :13:52.all a little cautious and stiff, maybe there is too pressure on him.

:13:53. > :13:59.Supporters are dumbfounded by what they have seen. Sandro Viletta knows

:14:00. > :14:13.that is a very important moment, he holds onto first, Ivica Kostelic is

:14:14. > :14:23.second. Christof Innerhofer is third. No podium for Adam Zampa.

:14:24. > :14:31.Christof Innerhofer Steed exactly the same time as Ivica Kostelic in a

:14:32. > :14:38.slalom. Ivica Kostelic is going to have to look at that and say, I

:14:39. > :14:44.could have done better. That is his school report. Probably his final

:14:45. > :14:49.chance of securing an Olympic gold medal. Matthias Mayer the Olympic

:14:50. > :15:15.downhill champion still to come. Aksel Lund Svindal is less practised

:15:16. > :15:21.than he was in 2008-2009. He is also heavier, having bulked up in the gym

:15:22. > :15:33.to be faster in downhill. It is not helping in slalom.

:15:34. > :15:41.Unable to make the most of this opportunity. He will have a really

:15:42. > :15:46.good chance in Sunday's men's Super-G. Let us not forget the other

:15:47. > :15:53.Norwegian, Aleksander Aamodt Kilde. We don't know how well he skis

:15:54. > :15:59.slalom. He has had some good results in the Europa cup in slalom. The two

:16:00. > :16:03.established sections, Bode Miller and Aksel Lunk Svindal, failing to

:16:04. > :16:08.make an impact. Sandro Viletta is getting closer to

:16:09. > :16:17.a medal. The Swiss still leads the way. Ivica Kostelic is in second. We

:16:18. > :16:23.have the five fastest man after the downhill to come. Max Franz of

:16:24. > :16:33.Austria. Aleksander Aamodt Kilde, an all-rounder. Matthias Mayer, the

:16:34. > :16:42.all-rounder. Kjetil Jansrud is an unknown quantity in slalom committee

:16:43. > :16:54.is the to ski. -- in slalom, he is the last to ski.

:16:55. > :17:02.Max Franz is a good downhill skier, but you see he lacks the skills of

:17:03. > :17:09.slalom to make an impact. His lead is just under a second. This is a

:17:10. > :17:16.scrap from Max Franz. It really is, it doesn't have the same flow.

:17:17. > :17:21.He is hacking the edges, hoping they will grip. So hard it is making him

:17:22. > :17:26.slow. And unrefined slalom technique from

:17:27. > :17:38.the Austrian. He now finds himself more than one second behind. Oh! A

:17:39. > :17:44.pirouette out of the course. 360 from Max Franz. No damage done.

:17:45. > :17:50.He managed to straddle that gate, I thought he was going to do a front

:17:51. > :17:55.row. He ended up doing a pirouette, as you say. A pretty good recovery

:17:56. > :18:01.from Max Franz. The letter macro is getting closer

:18:02. > :18:09.to a medal for Switzerland. -- Sandro Viletta.

:18:10. > :18:16.It is worth doing a bit of a warm up.

:18:17. > :18:28.Aleksander Aamodt Kilde is next to go, no relation to the great Kjetil

:18:29. > :18:37.Andre. But he was given his name, in his honour. Here is the young

:18:38. > :18:42.Norwegian. Aleksander Aamodt Kilde, he is fourth fastest after the

:18:43. > :18:50.downhill from this morning. And he is down. Oh, dear me. He did start

:18:51. > :18:57.well for three gates. Looking for a way back in. With Matthias Mayer

:18:58. > :19:07.next, you would think... As he comes down... He whips the snow but that

:19:08. > :19:10.ski pole and goes chasing after the errant ski. I would suggest the

:19:11. > :19:26.letter macro is now guaranteed a medal. It -- Viletta.

:19:27. > :19:29.All ending rather unfortunately for Aleksander Aamodt Kilde, he never

:19:30. > :19:54.really got going. Ondrej Bank is a good slalom skier.

:19:55. > :20:00.You say that could be the first Czech mail medal. It could be gold.

:20:01. > :20:05.The way we have seen almost half the field crash out, it could equally be

:20:06. > :20:15.a trip into the nets. Three more to go. Matthias Mayer is the Olympic

:20:16. > :20:20.downhill champion. His lead coming into the slalom section is 1.27

:20:21. > :20:26.seconds. He has started OK, he clearly knows his way through a

:20:27. > :20:34.slalom course. This reminds me of Christof Innerhofer. He is trying to

:20:35. > :20:42.stay clean, over the ski. But he is not as quick off his edges. I think

:20:43. > :20:55.Viletta is guaranteed a medal now. The course has been chewed up, this

:20:56. > :21:01.soft, springlike snow. Viletta will be among the medals. That is

:21:02. > :21:05.guaranteed. With just Ondrej Bank and Kjetil Jansrud to come. The

:21:06. > :21:12.Olympic downhill champion has given it a really good attempt but ends up

:21:13. > :21:19.in 11th. He knows he has an Olympic medal now, Viletta of Switzerland.

:21:20. > :21:26.His biggest threat is the man next to ski, Ondrej Bank.

:21:27. > :21:49.Ondrej Bank. No Czech male has won a gold. We saw a cross-country gold

:21:50. > :21:54.for the women in Turin. Ondrej Bank has an excellent opportunity to

:21:55. > :22:02.rewrite the Czech sporting record books. Look at his lead. 1.5 seconds

:22:03. > :22:06.over Viletta. We know he is a good slalom skier. He needs to be

:22:07. > :22:13.somewhere near his best on this tough, deteriorating course. This is

:22:14. > :22:18.a nice, smooth, relaxing start. He has lost a couple of tenths on the

:22:19. > :22:29.first part of the course. He is going to be about 7/10... Oh, no, he

:22:30. > :22:38.has lost a lot of time. Viletta might be heading for the silver

:22:39. > :22:44.metal -- medal. He is skiing cautious. He could end up

:22:45. > :22:50.empty-handed here. It could be that Ivica Kostelic will be guaranteed a

:22:51. > :22:55.medal with one to go. Innerhofer is third, he could be heading for his

:22:56. > :23:07.second hurdle. Ondrej Bank has blown it, he is sick. -- his second medal.

:23:08. > :23:12.Ondrej Bank really did not take any risk at all. You have got to take

:23:13. > :23:19.risks in the skin otherwise you are not going to be up there. -- in

:23:20. > :23:27.skiing. A disappointing run. You can't be

:23:28. > :23:34.throwing your pole up like that, you could hit somebody. He did. He is

:23:35. > :23:36.apologising. One more to come, Kjetil Jansrud.

:23:37. > :23:47.He already has a medal from the Olympic downhill. He takes his turn

:23:48. > :23:52.now. Starting 30th in the slalom stage of the super combined. Viletta

:23:53. > :24:05.preparing for Switzerland's second gold medal.

:24:06. > :24:17.Kjetil Jansrud, last to go. Not a bad slalom skier, has he got what it

:24:18. > :24:31.takes to dethrone Viletta officers learned in gold medal position? Not

:24:32. > :24:37.good. -- Viletta of Switzerland. The gold has gone. It is a question

:24:38. > :24:41.of whether he can end up on the podium. Christof Innerhofer will be

:24:42. > :24:46.waiting nervously, in third position.

:24:47. > :24:53.I don't think it is going to happen now, I don't think there'll be any

:24:54. > :24:59.change in the medals now. Ivica Kostelic is poised to take another

:25:00. > :25:05.Olympic silver. Kjetil Jansrud finishes in fourth, outside of the

:25:06. > :25:09.medals. The Olympic combined champion is Viletta, of Switzerland.

:25:10. > :25:15.Christof Innerhofer adds another medal, bronze this time, to his

:25:16. > :25:24.downhill silver. Ivica Kostelic takes the Olympic silver, as he did

:25:25. > :25:30.four years ago in Vancouver. I think Innerhofer can be very happy with

:25:31. > :25:36.his slalom performance, in the slalom. That is why he is so over

:25:37. > :25:41.the moon, he can't believe it. Kjetil Jansrud was so close, bronze

:25:42. > :25:46.in the downhill. But the worst possible position, forth today,

:25:47. > :25:50.having led in the downhill stage. There is the man who will be

:25:51. > :25:56.collecting a gold medal in Sochi. He came from a long way behind to do

:25:57. > :26:00.it. Ivica Kostelic didn't think he would get anything after his

:26:01. > :26:04.cautious slalom run. Innerhofer probably never even dream he would

:26:05. > :26:09.be among the medals when he woke up this morning. It is Viletta's day in

:26:10. > :26:25.the men's super combined. Celebrations for the Swiss. Another

:26:26. > :26:34.gold medal to add to Gisin's gold medal. And another for Innerhofer.

:26:35. > :26:38.What an Olympic Games. A bronze, a Silver, who knows he will complete

:26:39. > :26:48.the set possibly with a gold in the Super-G on Sunday.

:26:49. > :26:56.So, time for Viletta to start his round of interviews. Viletta is the

:26:57. > :26:59.Olympic super combined champion, he takes the gold. Silver to Ivica

:27:00. > :27:06.Kostelic, the same as four years ago.

:27:07. > :27:16.Emma Carrick Anderson, what a shock. Absolutely. Not the outcome

:27:17. > :27:20.we expected. Good to see Ivica Kostelic with the silver. Slightly

:27:21. > :27:26.disappointed maybe because he already has two silver medals. An

:27:27. > :27:34.unlikely podium. Where did Viletta win that? He went in the middle of

:27:35. > :27:38.the field. He thought, I have an advantage. It's not chopped up too

:27:39. > :27:46.much, and he went for it. Some of the guys held back. But he blew it

:27:47. > :27:51.away. Ivica Kostelic, his dad provided the course. What will his

:27:52. > :27:55.emotions be? A Silver is amazing. Deep down, when he watches the

:27:56. > :28:03.replay, he might think he could have given it a little more. He looked

:28:04. > :28:06.like he had a little in reserve. Skiing the course so much better

:28:07. > :28:14.than everyone else. He put them to shame. He did. He is not the best

:28:15. > :28:20.slalom skier so it is a surprise. He has had two top tens in the combined

:28:21. > :28:26.this year so he had it in him. He must have thought, anything is

:28:27. > :28:31.possible. Another medal for Innerhofer, after silver in the

:28:32. > :28:37.downhill. Lovely, seeing him ecstatic. He has had a great Games

:28:38. > :28:41.so far. Big questions in the American camp, Ted Ligety has been

:28:42. > :28:48.skiing well in the World Cup circuit. And Bode Miller. What has

:28:49. > :28:52.happened? Really disappointing. Bodie especially, I really wanted

:28:53. > :29:02.him to do well. He has been so strong. It is a shame. It has not

:29:03. > :29:07.gone his way. Both will be hugely disappointed. They both held back to

:29:08. > :29:14.match. Bodie in the downhill made the same mistake as in the actual

:29:15. > :29:17.men's downhill. Conditions playing a big part?

:29:18. > :29:25.Massively, especially today. Until now, it has not played that much.

:29:26. > :29:30.But, today, big time. It is very soft on the bottom section. A nasty

:29:31. > :29:38.hole but luckily nobody fell in. The slalom, the top direction -- the top

:29:39. > :29:43.section was really bumpy. Let us get ready for tomorrow, our

:29:44. > :29:44.next action from the Rosa Khutor Alpine Centre will be the women's

:29:45. > :31:42.Super-G. It is 30 years since Torvill and

:31:43. > :31:49.Dean won gold in 1984. Since figure skating became an Olympic sport, and

:31:50. > :31:56.before you ask if the Winter Olympics started earlier, figure

:31:57. > :32:02.skating started in the Summer Olympics. Torvill and Dean got a

:32:03. > :32:11.perfect score. They have speaking it again today in Sarajevo -- skating.

:32:12. > :32:35.This is what it looks like 30 years later.

:32:36. > :32:47.Beautiful images. Here is Jane's reflections on a day that changed

:32:48. > :32:53.their lives. As a child, I was quite shy. I think

:32:54. > :32:59.when I was on the ice I felt like somebody different, someone else.

:33:00. > :33:04.You were in your own little world, your own space. I think over the

:33:05. > :33:10.years it brought out a different personality in me and lots of

:33:11. > :33:14.confidence. The first time I went to the Irish drink was on a school trip

:33:15. > :33:20.when I was about eight or nine -- I went to the ice rink. I loved the

:33:21. > :33:26.feeling of the glide and the speed you could get and the different ways

:33:27. > :33:33.you could do things on skates. The ice rink where I started skating was

:33:34. > :33:38.quite an old building and a little bit run down but for me it was a

:33:39. > :33:44.magical place, even though there were lots of mice and rats. After I

:33:45. > :33:49.do not know how many weeks I pestered my parents for my own

:33:50. > :33:53.skates and they bought me a second-hand pair and I was allowed

:33:54. > :34:05.to have one lesson a week which I absolutely loved. After so many

:34:06. > :34:08.years skating quickly became my priority and certainly when I

:34:09. > :34:22.started skating with Chris it was my life, even though at that time Chris

:34:23. > :34:34.and I both had full-time jobs. For us to find the time to skate, it was

:34:35. > :34:39.out of 9-5 hours, there was not a lot of time available to us. We were

:34:40. > :34:46.in our early 20s when we realised we had a chance possibly all the gold

:34:47. > :34:58.medal, so we made a decision to give up our jobs and concentrate so that

:34:59. > :35:03.we could skate full-time. Each year we had to come up with something new

:35:04. > :35:12.and push ourselves and we started to get very creative in the routines we

:35:13. > :35:18.were doing. Everything was geared around leading up to 1984 because

:35:19. > :35:32.this was our Olympics, this was our chance. It is hard to describe the

:35:33. > :35:35.feeling of that performance. It feels like a dream sequence. It

:35:36. > :35:48.feels like I was looking down on someone else doing that. Luckily for

:35:49. > :35:52.us, on that evening it went well. We have our own feeling of how it went

:35:53. > :35:58.and it is when you watch it back that you see it for what it is or

:35:59. > :36:08.what it was, but the feeling you had performing it was completely

:36:09. > :36:20.different. I remember the moment when all of the sixes went up, there

:36:21. > :36:24.was a massive roar. I remember looking up at the scoreboard and

:36:25. > :36:36.seeing all of the sixes and thinking, wow, I think we have done

:36:37. > :36:40.it. Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean have won the gold medal. I did

:36:41. > :36:46.not think I young girls from Clifton would ever be an Olympic champion

:36:47. > :36:51.but it goes to show that you should never stop dreaming. My dream

:36:52. > :36:57.started small and got bigger and bigger.

:36:58. > :37:05.It was a dream for the whole nation. One of the all-time greatest British

:37:06. > :37:11.sporting moments. The British men will be up against Denmark later in

:37:12. > :37:12.the curling. Eve Muirhead and the girls have been playing against

:37:13. > :37:32.Japan. Let us look at the table. We are going to join this match in

:37:33. > :38:06.the sixth end. Partial success. It is important to

:38:07. > :38:13.keep the route through clear. The Japanese skip will try to replace

:38:14. > :38:20.that I am sure. This came about because of one error from Anna

:38:21. > :38:38.Sloan. We have last stone here so Eve

:38:39. > :38:52.should not panic too much and I am sure she will not be.

:38:53. > :39:01.This is the route down every time that they have had difficulty with

:39:02. > :39:10.that is starting to come round now. A little long. She has covered

:39:11. > :39:36.enough of the stone to prevent what is an easy 44 -- double for Eve. She

:39:37. > :39:42.wants to come round and tap back to score a one. A little bit

:39:43. > :39:45.unfortunate for Great Britain because we had set up what was

:39:46. > :39:54.looking to be a very nice end, but it shows you how one stone can

:39:55. > :40:01.change the whole end. We made a mistake but the Japanese girls did

:40:02. > :40:12.capitalise on that by putting on these successful guards.

:40:13. > :40:27.We have to watch this line. We have seen it a few times. It stays in and

:40:28. > :40:34.gets the two. What a great shot from Eve Muirhead, she is playing a great

:40:35. > :40:39.match leading from the front. Taking the opportunity with an excellent

:40:40. > :40:44.shot. She was asked the question and she came up with a definite reply.

:40:45. > :40:52.Despite the efforts of the Japanese skip, and that was a much better end

:40:53. > :41:03.for them, they still find themselves down. It is still tied in the match

:41:04. > :41:08.between Russia and Switzerland. If Russia were to lose that they would

:41:09. > :41:15.find themselves in a precarious position with four losses and

:41:16. > :41:27.Switzerland lose that would be three in a row. Denmark have been head

:41:28. > :41:51.back a little by the USA, leading 4-2. China leading Korea 6-3.

:41:52. > :42:01.Claire Hamilton being asked to draw this one in.

:42:02. > :42:11.We have watched enough Games that you would look at the table and it

:42:12. > :42:15.would have a familiar look about it with Canada and Sweden at the top

:42:16. > :42:34.and Britain and Switzerland and China below that.

:42:35. > :42:44.The two teams considered to be the big rivals before we arrived. I

:42:45. > :42:51.suppose it is as expected up until this point. Qualification in the top

:42:52. > :43:00.four is what we are looking for. That is the first order of the day

:43:01. > :43:12.and then after it is a new competition, it is not outstayed

:43:13. > :43:18.after that. -- knockout stage. You have to make sure you get

:43:19. > :43:37.qualification. Finishing in the top four will give you a semifinal

:43:38. > :43:39.place. The top four will play. I guess there's something about

:43:40. > :43:45.finishing top because then should face what is a weaker team but the

:43:46. > :43:53.top four who qualify there should be no weak teams. You will not have to

:43:54. > :44:06.go back to what happened in 2002, their record was five wins, four

:44:07. > :44:11.losses. It was either five and four or four and five. The point is, they

:44:12. > :44:23.were not top of the table and they ended up with a gold medal. They

:44:24. > :44:27.only had one game yesterday and Eve was making the point it would have

:44:28. > :44:32.been good to be in here in the evening yesterday when you are

:44:33. > :44:35.playing well and full of confidence. Going back to the idea of the

:44:36. > :44:41.tie-breaks, if you finish top, there is a break and you could be in the

:44:42. > :44:46.second semifinal and if you played on Monday morning you have got

:44:47. > :44:50.yourself through and you're not going to be back until Wednesday

:44:51. > :44:55.evening. So you have to take a break when you are playing well, and it is

:44:56. > :44:58.almost like starting again full is so however well you have played,

:44:59. > :45:07.particularly if you have unwell in the Round Robin -- if you have done

:45:08. > :45:13.well, there is going to be that break. It is always difficult to

:45:14. > :45:21.know if that break is a benefit or not. They will get the opportunity

:45:22. > :45:25.to come in and have a practice but that is not the same as match

:45:26. > :45:31.practice before you are playing. That was one of the benefits for

:45:32. > :45:51.Rhona Martin. The dynamic is a little bit

:45:52. > :45:57.different. Even in these round robin stages, you will hear teams saying,

:45:58. > :46:05.we are playing well. There is nothing worse when you have a game

:46:06. > :46:15.off. Downtime can often, I don't know, you get fed up or board. It is

:46:16. > :46:24.often good in the conditions, you just want to play.

:46:25. > :46:26.-- in the competitions. That is the role of the team

:46:27. > :46:52.manager, to help them relax, That is the role of the team

:46:53. > :47:01.us. But, hugely important to continue your concentration. For

:47:02. > :47:05.those of you who are not so familiar with the rules of the game, we are

:47:06. > :47:10.trying to take off these corner guards which could be utilised by

:47:11. > :47:13.the Japanese team to try to come round behind. To create some cover

:47:14. > :47:26.for them. Working as hard as they could to get

:47:27. > :47:32.it around that guard, but just clipping it. Sitting out there. You

:47:33. > :47:38.can see the shot that Eve is calling.

:47:39. > :47:44.Yumie Funayama has been playing reasonably well, tried to give the

:47:45. > :47:50.skip as many opportunities as she can. But she has been picking up the

:47:51. > :47:52.debris of the front two. Anna Sloan just needs to compose herself and

:47:53. > :47:58.find her shots. On her takeouts before that, she was

:47:59. > :48:33.shooting at 42%. It has been quite quiet in here. It

:48:34. > :48:39.is a real tight match Russia are playing with Switzerland. It has

:48:40. > :48:47.been very quiet, they haven't had much to cheer, a low scoring game

:48:48. > :48:55.there. 2-2. I think they have just woken up.

:48:56. > :49:04.Looking to try and sneak in behind these three. Which is just going to

:49:05. > :49:07.catch the first one again. They are doing their best. I told you they

:49:08. > :49:29.had broken up. -- woken up. This is proving to be another

:49:30. > :49:40.difficult end for Japan here. Yumie Funayama, playing third. Two shots

:49:41. > :49:51.have curled into much. Not getting past that corner guards. -- guard.

:49:52. > :49:56.Russia had picked up two on that end which is why the John King is going

:49:57. > :50:09.on. A clear view of this Japanese stone.

:50:10. > :50:20.That is looking pretty good at the moment.

:50:21. > :50:22.Becoming draining for the Japanese skip, the pressure has never been

:50:23. > :50:41.taken off. Obviously, they only have four ends

:50:42. > :50:47.left and they fall down. Taking a one will not help their case. What

:50:48. > :50:55.would you do here, Jackie? At what point do you start to get desperate?

:50:56. > :51:03.Maybe a helicopter shot to bring a yellow stone into the one foot.

:51:04. > :51:20.A potential problem for the draw in here. Eve's stones, or bundled

:51:21. > :51:26.together. Just above the four foot. Making it very difficult to get in

:51:27. > :51:31.behind. That is really tight. There still is a line. But she had

:51:32. > :51:36.to Mitchell she gets past that guard at the top and, hopefully, it will,

:51:37. > :51:42.for their sake, pull in. A really good effort.

:51:43. > :51:52.Once again, she has played a very good stone. Under a lot of pressure

:51:53. > :51:56.here. She is doing well. She has done

:51:57. > :52:01.everything she can, to be honest. She has been left with so few

:52:02. > :52:06.options. Keeps trying to make these big shots. Eve has a chance to tap

:52:07. > :52:25.her own against that one. Trying to promote this. So,

:52:26. > :52:29.controlled, that is a firm hit. Eve just wanting to catch that stone

:52:30. > :52:37.sitting on the centre line. To promote it back onto the yellow.

:52:38. > :52:45.If she gets this right, at best, it would be one to Japan.

:52:46. > :52:53.A great shot. Yet another great shot from Eve Muirhead.

:52:54. > :53:03.And, right from the onset of this match, she has been playing very

:53:04. > :53:07.well indeed. And, even when her team-mates have had the odd errant

:53:08. > :53:13.shot, Anna Sloan suddenly had one in this end, we keep having this

:53:14. > :53:17.situation where, unfortunately for the Japanese skip, the best she can

:53:18. > :53:25.do here is repeat another great shot and take another one. But, if she

:53:26. > :53:29.gets this wrong, we could all be going for an early bath, as they

:53:30. > :53:39.say. Five British stones in there.

:53:40. > :53:47.A well executed end by Great Britain. Eve Muirhead and Anna

:53:48. > :53:51.looking a lot more relaxed today. She played this shot a couple of

:53:52. > :53:57.minutes ago but it doesn't mean she will play it as well this time. It

:53:58. > :54:02.was almost perfect last time. Again, they are working that really hard. A

:54:03. > :54:11.small gap to come through, it is turning. And that is going to be

:54:12. > :54:16.five. We have had a seven for Great Britain in a previous match. That is

:54:17. > :54:20.the end of the game. Handshakes. Eve Muirhead has done it again. And her

:54:21. > :54:27.team have played really, really well in this second session. And that is

:54:28. > :54:32.another win, which will give them three wins and two losses. It was

:54:33. > :54:36.never in question, Japan struggled from the beginning, particularly

:54:37. > :54:40.their two youngsters playing lead and second. Claire Hamilton, Vicki

:54:41. > :54:49.Adams, Anna Sloan and Eve Muirhead, a job well done. Running out of 12-3

:54:50. > :54:55.victors against Japan. STUDIO: Good news for Eve Muirhead

:54:56. > :54:58.and the team. Another victory. That means the table makes much better

:54:59. > :55:13.reading for Great Britain. After a sticky start, things are

:55:14. > :55:17.looking up. In terms of the overall medal table, let's have a little

:55:18. > :55:22.look. Germany still proud at the top, they

:55:23. > :55:24.have had a really good Games, particularly in the Luge where they

:55:25. > :55:33.have taken all the gold medals on offer.

:55:34. > :55:39.Great Britain is in 20 Third Place. Just the one bronze medal for Jenny

:55:40. > :55:46.Jones. In the snowboard slopestyle. But that could be about to change.

:55:47. > :56:24.That third run for Lizzy Yarnold, 3:30pm on BBC Two. The actual run is

:56:25. > :56:30.at 3:40pm. Lizzy Yarnold is in a fantastic position to repeat success

:56:31. > :56:36.of Amy Williams in Vancouver four years ago.

:56:37. > :56:47.Stand on the start line, final day, legs shaking so much. I took a deep

:56:48. > :56:55.breath. I knew this was it. Power. Think of the things you have to do.

:56:56. > :57:00.Keep it together, Amy Williams could be Olympic champion. It is hanging

:57:01. > :57:04.in there. Amy Williams really is going for gold. The last turn,

:57:05. > :57:12.surely it is gold for Great Britain? Oh, yes! Amy Williams is

:57:13. > :57:18.the queen of speed in Canada. Being told I had one, someone telling you

:57:19. > :57:21.you are Olympic champion. There was a sense of relief. Finally

:57:22. > :57:27.I have done it, I knew I could always win. Lizzy Yarnold has

:57:28. > :57:31.already won a World Championship. Now she is going for Olympic gold.

:57:32. > :57:39.Half a second up. Coming up to the line.

:57:40. > :57:44.Lizzy Yarnold has a similar story to me, I see myself reflected in her.

:57:45. > :57:52.She watched me win gold and she knew she had for years to do the same.

:57:53. > :57:56.She has to go away, keep calm, be consistent, the consistency will win

:57:57. > :58:00.medals. To know your neighbours in the history book is a strange

:58:01. > :58:05.feeling. It is always going to be there. I am here for years later

:58:06. > :58:09.knowing someone will take my title and I really hope Lizzy Yarnold can

:58:10. > :58:12.do that and keep it in Great Britain. Any medals you bring home

:58:13. > :58:20.and you know you have the notion behind you. 14th of February 20 14th

:58:21. > :58:22.in Sochi, if she can win gold, it will be amazing. I can't wait to see

:58:23. > :58:31.what she can do. Amy Williams, very much in the

:58:32. > :58:39.Olympic books as Olympic champion. Lizzy Yarnold could be joining her

:58:40. > :58:46.later today. We will be back on BBC Two almost immediately. These other

:58:47. > :58:51.things to watch out for. -- are the things.

:58:52. > :58:58.That's it from me here on BBC One. Switch over channels and we will see

:58:59. > :58:59.you on BBC Two very shortly. Goodbye.
