:00:39. > :00:49.Good morning. Are you larks or owls this morning? Some of the Yarnie

:00:50. > :00:53.army will have had a very late night and indeed may even be seeing in the

:00:54. > :00:56.dawn with us this morning. Because there is much to celebrate today

:00:57. > :01:01.after Lizzy Yarnold's daring but ice-cool triumph in the skeleton.

:01:02. > :01:04.And that's sure to inspire the other members of the British team who're

:01:05. > :01:15.in action on this eighth day of the Sochi Games. Claire, Vicki, Anna and

:01:16. > :01:19.Eve are rockin' and rolling now. The GB women have built up a head of

:01:20. > :01:24.steam going into a big day in which they play two matches. Meanwhile,

:01:25. > :01:29.the pace picks up considerably in alpine skiing with the second of the

:01:30. > :01:31.women's speed events, the Super G. Slovenia's Tina Maze and

:01:32. > :01:39.Switzerland's Lara Gut amongst the favourites. Dave Murdoch's men face

:01:40. > :01:43.defending champions Canada. The British rink have been building up

:01:44. > :01:49.to this all week and doing so rather impressively. And mix in some

:01:50. > :01:52.mayhem, madness and more GB medal chances at the short track arena,

:01:53. > :02:05.and you've got the makings of a pretty marvellous Saturday morning

:02:06. > :02:25.of Olympic sport. We are starting with the curling. They are on the

:02:26. > :02:28.up. They're now joint third in the table after five of the nine

:02:29. > :02:31.matches. But they've got two to play today, against the Swiss tonight

:02:32. > :02:36.and, right now, Korea. Jackie Lockhart has been keeping an eye on

:02:37. > :02:49.everything here in the Ice Cube. How significant a win was that against

:02:50. > :02:53.Japan? That's definitely gave them the boost of confidence they need to

:02:54. > :03:04.go into the rest of the Round Robin matches. The opposition skip was

:03:05. > :03:10.trying to put the pressure on Eve Muirhead but she stepped up. Two

:03:11. > :03:16.Olympic records. That has to help the confidence. Without question.

:03:17. > :03:19.That will boost their eagle to finish it off with hopefully an

:03:20. > :03:30.Olympic medal at the end of this week. Two matches today and the

:03:31. > :03:36.final two matches on Monday. What is that like? It is a tough programme.

:03:37. > :03:45.They are sitting in third place amongst a patch of -- a pack of

:03:46. > :03:51.tough people. Quite often there is downtime between Games and the girls

:03:52. > :03:57.have to stick to their routine. Will fully they will have a victory under

:03:58. > :04:05.their belt, they will refuel and do their usual routine. It is a long

:04:06. > :04:15.day. There is ten hours between matches. Yes, that seems a long time

:04:16. > :04:21.for us, but for the girls that is normal and they know what they have

:04:22. > :04:27.to do so the preparation has been looked at very finally for this

:04:28. > :04:32.competition so I am hoping they are on the up. It is significant for

:04:33. > :04:37.Dave Murdoch because they have a match against defending champions

:04:38. > :04:43.Canada. Quietly going about their business effectively. Yesterday's

:04:44. > :04:51.game was very difficult to watch and to commentate on. What looked like a

:04:52. > :04:54.massive defeat turned around. Dave was not putting the pressure on the

:04:55. > :05:03.opposition skip button the second half of the game he did and we won

:05:04. > :05:06.the game. We have a tough game this afternoon against Canada, the hot

:05:07. > :05:20.favourites, who have not started well, but they are slowly getting

:05:21. > :05:23.better. Jackie's personal best from here to the commentary box is

:05:24. > :05:26.approximately a minute and a half, but she, like the GB women, is

:05:27. > :05:28.improving every day. The clock starts now, and, in the meantime,

:05:29. > :05:50.I'll hand you over to Steve Cram. Good morning everybody. Hopefully

:05:51. > :06:05.Jackie will go past the coffee shop on the way down! It is a sparsely

:06:06. > :06:15.populated morning here, nor Russian interest. Two big Games, if they win

:06:16. > :06:33.them both they are in a very strong position.

:06:34. > :06:45.They want to try and build on win against China and the emphatic win

:06:46. > :06:53.against Japan. Korea is a tricky match. They have had a couple of

:06:54. > :07:00.good wins, but two wins and three losses. The last time they met in

:07:01. > :07:06.2012 it was Korea who came out on top, 7-2. A couple of good shots to

:07:07. > :07:22.begin with from Claire Hamilton. Korea with a hammer -- the hammer.

:07:23. > :07:27.Eve's draw was not the best. You got the feeling over the past couple of

:07:28. > :07:35.matches they have been more assured. Particularly strong

:07:36. > :07:57.yesterday. That match finished early with this steal or five. -- off

:07:58. > :08:05.five. Korea will be posting the next Winter Olympics in four years. They

:08:06. > :08:25.have targeted Carling as a sport they want to be particularly good

:08:26. > :08:32.at. -- curling. We should not forget how young this British team is. This

:08:33. > :08:42.British quartet have a big career ahead of them and an opportunity at

:08:43. > :08:46.these Olympic Games. If you are looking at the table, Canada are

:08:47. > :08:52.playing this morning against Japan and they can pretty much assure

:08:53. > :08:58.themselves of a place in the semi-finals with a win today. No

:08:59. > :09:20.team with six wins as ever not made it to the final four. The Canadian

:09:21. > :09:30.matches against Japan and the other match is Sweden against China. China

:09:31. > :09:48.sitting just above Britain in the table.

:09:49. > :10:05.Vicki being asked to put up the centre card. The skip for Korea is

:10:06. > :10:11.married to one of the Chinese players. The Chinese men have been

:10:12. > :10:16.surprising everybody with a fantastic competition. Top of the

:10:17. > :10:31.table with Great Britain with five wins. Not sure how much they have

:10:32. > :10:39.been seeing each other. Nice double from Lee. Jackie has joined me.

:10:40. > :10:49.Unfortunately she did not bring coffee. You never said! Hazel gave

:10:50. > :11:01.me a minute and a half to get down to the commentary box. Maybe

:11:02. > :11:10.tomorrow. Somebody has brought me a muffin, that will keep me going. It

:11:11. > :11:15.is going to be a long day. You were talking to his all about the fact

:11:16. > :11:22.that they have to come back this evening. I was chatting to even

:11:23. > :11:27.about the win over China and after that match after the interview she

:11:28. > :11:31.said they would love to be coming back tonight because they had the

:11:32. > :11:39.evening off and when you are playing well they want to be back on the

:11:40. > :11:46.ice, so if they get a good win today then they can continue the momentum

:11:47. > :12:03.later. Anna Sloan is normally full of

:12:04. > :12:10.smiles in the introduction beforehand. A little smile from an

:12:11. > :12:20.when she was introduced to the crowd. A small crowd but plenty of

:12:21. > :12:30.British support. A little bit of Korean support as well. Nice shot

:12:31. > :12:40.from Anna Sloan. There is a little group down to your right, about ten

:12:41. > :12:49.guys who were cordial death in their chants -- who were planning their

:12:50. > :13:02.chants. Since the game started they have been quiet. I am sure they will

:13:03. > :13:10.get going. It is early. Not as early as it is back home for those of you

:13:11. > :13:19.who have got up to watch this. The vice skip is 24. She has relate

:13:20. > :13:28.right to make the sort of commitment we have been talking about -- really

:13:29. > :13:33.tried. She has dropped out of university to focus on qualification

:13:34. > :13:50.and the Olympic Games. She will pick up her studies again after. I was

:13:51. > :13:57.saying, this team beat the Scottish team in the World Championships in

:13:58. > :14:01.2012, so not to be underestimated. Without question. We always knew

:14:02. > :14:16.these girls could be a surprise unit to come out and play against. Rhona

:14:17. > :14:33.said that at the beginning of the week. They have been practising in

:14:34. > :14:46.Aberdeen, my home town. Not a good start for Eve. The draw that they

:14:47. > :15:08.makes for last stone advantage, it was not Eve's best. Unfortunately we

:15:09. > :15:11.do not have the hammer. She will try to make it difficult for Eve to

:15:12. > :15:43.remove both. It has started pretty well for the

:15:44. > :15:55.Korean women. A nice shot from their skip.

:15:56. > :16:04.Yes, she has placed that Stone very well, just on the tee line. If you

:16:05. > :16:11.tried to hit the top yellow at the top of the house, it would give a

:16:12. > :16:17.simple draw. It looks like we are going to try a skinny double, she

:16:18. > :16:27.just wants to catch the edge of the top yellow, roll across, and take

:16:28. > :16:36.the other yellow. It is an accurate shot to be playing

:16:37. > :16:40.this early in the match. So, even, trying to take at both these Korean

:16:41. > :16:47.stones. To leave us with a chance for one.

:16:48. > :16:59.Unlucky... Will it go? That was unlucky, a really nice attempt. A

:17:00. > :17:04.nice, clear house to draw into for the Korean skip. It was a good

:17:05. > :17:10.effort, it was the first stone which was a problem.

:17:11. > :17:19.I think the match, if I remember rightly, against Japan yesterday,

:17:20. > :17:39.didn't Japan, Britain Starts of the two. So, it looks like it will be to

:17:40. > :17:48.hear for career -- Korea, two here for Korea.

:17:49. > :18:05.All of that excitement last night. It's funny how in the last couple of

:18:06. > :18:10.Games, Eve and the team have had an odd competition, I would say, these

:18:11. > :18:18.Olympic records, picking up a steal of five. Twice they have scored 12.

:18:19. > :18:24.An odd competition for them, really. That big shot of either against

:18:25. > :18:29.Canada, remember. Big swings one way or the other. Whereas the men have

:18:30. > :18:35.had tight matches, right at the end, last night was a good case in point.

:18:36. > :18:39.She has picked up some of these Olympic records along the way but

:18:40. > :18:45.that doesn't automatically tell you that everything is going your way.

:18:46. > :18:54.As you know, this is nine Games of a round robin match. Against ten

:18:55. > :19:02.teams. One shot is great, but there are many... One shot pulling off an

:19:03. > :19:09.end, but there are many ends, ten ends. Nine Games. This is a really

:19:10. > :19:15.long week for the girls. It will be comforting to have these statistics

:19:16. > :19:22.behind them. The lead for Korea gets underway,

:19:23. > :19:32.two shots after that first end. That shot from Eve Muirhead, the charts

:19:33. > :19:37.for Korea to take the two -- the chance. Claire Hamilton played

:19:38. > :20:06.tonight stones in that first end. Just about made it. Yes, that is a

:20:07. > :20:14.little bit higher than I would like it. As it was getting slow, it takes

:20:15. > :20:36.much more of a bigger pull, you end up losing some of the rings there.

:20:37. > :20:57.Her 23rd birthday in February, Min-ji Um. A couple of weeks ago.

:20:58. > :21:09.It is interesting that she is one of those who took up the sport in

:21:10. > :21:14.school. In Korea, we talked about the development of the sport, Korea

:21:15. > :21:15.particularly targeting cuddling with quite a lot of youngsters playing

:21:16. > :21:40.now. -- targeting curling. They expected it to comfort it up to

:21:41. > :21:52.that yellow, but it dug in, it died at the end.

:21:53. > :22:00.They really will have two plates close attention to the ice and the

:22:01. > :22:05.stones. We have seen that all week. The ice has been running fairly

:22:06. > :22:11.well. It is difficult to know if it will hold up for the whole week.

:22:12. > :22:20.A little bit of a panic that, the skip running to help. I think they

:22:21. > :22:30.were worried it was going to be very short. It is still pretty short.

:22:31. > :22:49.The girls have decided to play an in-turn, to try to come down here on

:22:50. > :22:51.the left-hand side, as we saw in your picture, onto the edge of the

:22:52. > :23:04.yellow. They are working hard to get to this

:23:05. > :23:14.front yellow. Pulling hard here. That has opened it up a little bit

:23:15. > :23:49.more for the girls. They had a couple of Games yesterday

:23:50. > :23:56.where, for the first time, the clock became an issue. Germany claimed

:23:57. > :24:01.victory, they played the last sodium as the clock reached zero -- at the

:24:02. > :24:11.last stone. They had to rush towards the end. They just managed to close

:24:12. > :24:16.that game out. The German men have had some close matches, including

:24:17. > :24:24.against Great Britain. They were delighted to get the win in six.

:24:25. > :24:29.But, unfortunately, poor Switzerland, who had come here with

:24:30. > :24:30.reasonably high hopes, the Swiss men, they find themselves joint

:24:31. > :24:59.bottom now. So, we are going to try a similar

:25:00. > :25:01.shot again here, from Vicki Adams. Managing with the line on the first

:25:02. > :25:28.time, it does finish big on the end. Yes. A shooter there. It has just

:25:29. > :25:36.rolled across. It has spread cover at the top of the house on the

:25:37. > :25:41.left-hand side as can see. -- as we can see. And it is a sitting shot as

:25:42. > :26:03.well. It is amazing how... I was chatting

:26:04. > :26:06.to the men, and it was in the seventh and where Denmark had won,

:26:07. > :26:15.and we weren't sure whether they had to or not, the two stones were so

:26:16. > :26:22.close together. There was a discussion, it was so close. Then

:26:23. > :26:30.the skip walked in and said, just one for us, Denmark. Chatting to

:26:31. > :26:41.them, they were saying they weren't sure at all. A bit of a surprise. I

:26:42. > :26:52.don't know whether that affected them. They were needed at that

:26:53. > :27:01.point. The team said afterwards. You wonder whether all these little

:27:02. > :27:04.edges definitely affected them. So, Korea couldn't afford to sweep

:27:05. > :27:13.Batstone early because it was going to catch one of their own yellows.

:27:14. > :27:15.-- that stone. We still live a shot at the back. We will try to put

:27:16. > :27:58.another on the other side. Outturn. Knockout here. They want to

:27:59. > :28:08.hit this stone and try to get an inside throw. It is starting to get

:28:09. > :28:13.busy at the front. Yes. She needs to make sure she has a route in. Not a

:28:14. > :28:24.bad shot in but doesn't quite get the roll in. That line dance there

:28:25. > :28:33.is still clear at the moment. -- line down there. She wants to get

:28:34. > :28:46.the two back. Anything else is a bonus.

:28:47. > :28:58.Anna, yesterday, a little frustrated with her round play. But Eve was

:28:59. > :29:03.playing so well. That is good. Again, it didn't quite roll in. Anna

:29:04. > :29:10.seems to have come out this morning, playing her shots nicely. That was

:29:11. > :29:18.well executed and well looked after by the team. I think, on this sheet

:29:19. > :29:23.de that we have been on, we have been on here quite a few times, you

:29:24. > :29:27.have to be careful. If you don't have the weight, it has a big pool

:29:28. > :29:34.at the end which becomes very dangerous. So, delivering that shot

:29:35. > :29:48.as accurately as you can. From the other end, you are probably

:29:49. > :30:01.only going to see half of this red stone. The same line again for

:30:02. > :30:11.Ji-sun Kim. It looks very tight. Yes. They are having to work this

:30:12. > :30:16.very hard. She took a much tighter line. And now Britain are lying

:30:17. > :30:21.three. Another good shot from the skip.

:30:22. > :30:45.We want to try to block this. There is a bit of traffic upfront working

:30:46. > :30:55.in the skip's flavourful is -- favour. Korea will still have the

:30:56. > :31:00.chance to utilise the yellow on the other side of the house which could

:31:01. > :31:08.come across the face of it. She only has to tap it a little. Even that

:31:09. > :31:29.would not be too easy a shot. The first stone of the previous end

:31:30. > :31:40.was not her best but the line here is looking good, it is just a

:31:41. > :31:51.question of weight. It is not bad. That is exactly where she wanted it

:31:52. > :32:04.to finish. Kim Ji-sun had a bit of bother in this second end.

:32:05. > :32:16.That our stones sitting out in front, thing hard bother -- causing

:32:17. > :32:22.her bother. Maybe trying to lift a double but what will happen is the

:32:23. > :32:34.stone she has thrown well out count some of the others sitting. She has

:32:35. > :32:44.to be careful. She is either looking at damage limitation, hopefully

:32:45. > :32:52.removing two of our stones or there was a difficult catch on that

:32:53. > :33:04.yellow. To tap it into the red, sorry, the white and maybe give up

:33:05. > :33:11.one. I think she is looking at hitting the red to the left. If she

:33:12. > :33:22.catches this wrong, she might get rid of the red, but you have a

:33:23. > :33:30.chance of at least three mac. We still have last stone. An important

:33:31. > :33:53.shot. If she can, trying to get the double

:33:54. > :34:00.take-out. She has done well. The British stone just going out. Damage

:34:01. > :34:09.limitation, she did pretty well. I thought the third was going to hang

:34:10. > :34:22.on, but it spun out. That would have given Eve the chance of four but as

:34:23. > :34:27.it is she has the chance of three. The girls have played this end

:34:28. > :34:34.well. She just has to draw enough onto the nose of the red that she

:34:35. > :34:43.laid with her first stone and that should give her three stones.

:34:44. > :34:57.A similar shot to what she played a few moments ago. Nicely done. That

:34:58. > :35:03.is a good start for Eve Muirhead after her first shot of the match

:35:04. > :35:05.not being the best, but since then it has been good. A good response

:35:06. > :35:32.after Korea took a two shot lead. Tied up on the far side, Canada and

:35:33. > :35:44.Japan. Canada took the first and Japan responded in the second. China

:35:45. > :35:53.against Sweden, I was musing over this this morning wondering if three

:35:54. > :35:57.teams pull away, if we get to the point where Canada are assured of

:35:58. > :36:05.going into the semifinal, if Sweden were to win, and we pick up a couple

:36:06. > :36:11.of wins, we have three pulling away from the pack. Sometimes it is nice

:36:12. > :36:20.to let the winning team keep winning.

:36:21. > :36:31.And leave the rest of the pack to fight it out. There is such a lot in

:36:32. > :36:43.the middle, three wins, two losses, what we have today is Sweden and

:36:44. > :36:51.China playing at the moment and China have picked up a two in the

:36:52. > :36:56.first end, so all to play for. This is a crucial game for us. We

:36:57. > :37:06.definitely want to win, keep them into going. -- the momentum. I do

:37:07. > :37:17.not think you want to lose too many more. They would have four wins and

:37:18. > :37:23.three losses, but if you want to be assured of getting into the top

:37:24. > :37:33.four, six wins, five might get you there ought you might end up in a

:37:34. > :37:37.tie-break on Tuesday. You start to look at other teams, you cannot

:37:38. > :37:42.affect how they lay, but you will start to look at the table, and the

:37:43. > :37:47.main thing is to have it in your own destiny, do not rely on other teams

:37:48. > :37:59.losing. The last matches against Russia, that will be tough -- the

:38:00. > :38:03.last match is against Russia. Often the teams at the bottom are the

:38:04. > :38:14.hardest to play because they have nothing to lose. We also have

:38:15. > :38:23.Switzerland tonight. That will be a tough match. They have played each

:38:24. > :38:30.other many times. That is big for Switzerland who won their first

:38:31. > :38:38.three mac and then lost three. They have been playing all five players

:38:39. > :38:46.and moving them around and it has not worked out for them at all. It

:38:47. > :38:51.looks as if they are a little uneasy. They have been chopping and

:38:52. > :39:11.changing positions and I am not sure it is working for them. Just

:39:12. > :39:12.catching the guard slightly. Claire Hamilton has started well this

:39:13. > :39:37.morning. Vicki Adams going second. Vicki is playing and out-turn draw.

:39:38. > :39:55.Using the stone that Korea stopped. Might be slipping a little bit too

:39:56. > :40:08.far behind the tee. A little unfortunate. Korea going to clear

:40:09. > :40:10.this out a little after the previous shot gave them a little bit of

:40:11. > :40:29.bother. Lee does well. Just moves across in

:40:30. > :40:38.front of that other one, two of them think they're no -- sitting there.

:40:39. > :40:50.They have left us with an opportunity to better Vicki's first

:40:51. > :40:56.drop. They will try for a clockwise rotation of the stone which should

:40:57. > :41:04.pull to the right depending on the swing, perhaps two or three feet. We

:41:05. > :41:10.want this to stop on the eight foot. Nice shot. Well played, Vicki

:41:11. > :41:25.Adams. There is a relaxed feeling about the

:41:26. > :41:30.British team this morning. Warming to this match. A good start. The

:41:31. > :42:14.second end was what they needed. Going back to the point about

:42:15. > :42:23.playing all five, the Black Cats have done the same -- Korea have

:42:24. > :42:47.done the same. The last couple of matches it has

:42:48. > :42:54.been Lee playing second. There was talk about the men before we came

:42:55. > :43:05.here, talk about how that was going to work, whether there would be

:43:06. > :43:12.rotation of Dave Murdoch and Soren Gran said in the press conference,

:43:13. > :43:17.he put everybody right. Teams who do operate that system, if it is not

:43:18. > :43:23.out of necessity, what is the thinking behind that? It must and

:43:24. > :43:32.settle the balance of the team, communication, camaraderie. For that

:43:33. > :43:37.to work, if you play a five-man British and Andy take a fifth man

:43:38. > :43:43.with you there is no point in that fifth man having no match practice

:43:44. > :43:50.to keep up their good play and you find a lot of the teams will rotate

:43:51. > :43:54.them in the front end saw the lead will constantly rotate back and

:43:55. > :44:02.forward. It becomes difficult if you bring your fifth man to replace vice

:44:03. > :44:07.or the skip because the dynamics of the team are difficult to manage.

:44:08. > :44:12.There is an advantage to playing with five but we generally play with

:44:13. > :44:17.four and we do not utilise the fifth man until we come to the

:44:18. > :44:23.competition. The preparation for the Olympics was a five-man team and it

:44:24. > :44:27.is difficult to leave that fifth player sitting out doing nothing for

:44:28. > :44:39.radio and not having practice on the ice -- for a year. We'll coach sits

:44:40. > :44:46.down and said, you are playing second, because otherwise you are

:44:47. > :44:51.putting pressure. If you tell them beforehand, it makes it a bit

:44:52. > :44:56.easier. Yes, you do not want to be messing with people's heads and

:44:57. > :45:03.somebody on the ice worrying that they might be replaced. I have seen

:45:04. > :45:10.it working that they will change every other game and then they will

:45:11. > :45:29.know when they are on and win they are off.

:45:30. > :45:34.Out of the four Korean players, she has looked the best in the early

:45:35. > :45:47.stages of this match. Eve, with the out-turn hit. She will

:45:48. > :45:52.be hoping to catch maybe half of this yellow and roll across into the

:45:53. > :45:56.centre, use the cover she has in the middle of the house. She has some

:45:57. > :46:24.protection. It is going to be interesting again

:46:25. > :46:33.in this match. To see if Britain have a nice early advantage. These

:46:34. > :46:38.two young skips, Eve Muirhead with an awful lot of experience already,

:46:39. > :46:42.playing well, and a little bit of an up and down tournament for Ji-sun

:46:43. > :46:54.Kim. She has a good chance to strike back

:46:55. > :47:09.for her team. Number two here, a good shot.

:47:10. > :47:21.Got those three stones out there. Not bad. Eve Muirhead will be able

:47:22. > :47:26.to see this. They would have liked a little bit of a role there. By the

:47:27. > :47:33.same token, didn't want to lose it either. I think Eve should see all

:47:34. > :47:48.of this. We just heard her say, she would

:47:49. > :47:49.like to Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela to the right-hand side, as we look to

:47:50. > :48:05.the picture -- like to roll. Hopefully making it a lot harder for

:48:06. > :48:25.Korea to move the stone and potentially thank the end.

:48:26. > :48:33.Applying some early pressure. It should be a shot that Ji-sun Kim

:48:34. > :48:36.should be able to make. But, so many skips, when they seem to have

:48:37. > :48:46.straightforward shots, make the errors. Great Britain, making sure

:48:47. > :48:49.that nothing is too easy. She should be able to take this out and blank

:48:50. > :49:05.this end, and move on to the fourth. It is starting to fill up in here.

:49:06. > :49:06.Still plenty of Russian flags even though Russia are not playing this

:49:07. > :49:12.morning. Ji-sun Kim, trying to get round, to

:49:13. > :49:27.pick up this British stone. Korea will want to check this out

:49:28. > :49:35.and not stay in the house themselves. There will be quite

:49:36. > :49:43.happy with the blank here. Roll over the end, taking the hammer into the

:49:44. > :49:47.fourth end. Well played by Britain. Some good shots. Anna Sloan and Eve

:49:48. > :49:55.Muirhead, all four of them played a really good end there. So, advantage

:49:56. > :50:04.still with Great Britain. Canada have moved out to a 4-2 lead in

:50:05. > :50:10.their match against Japan. And, China have had a steal in the

:50:11. > :50:24.second, sorry, third end, against Sweden. They now lead 3-0.

:50:25. > :50:42.Wang, getting her team off to a good start.

:50:43. > :50:49.I was just wondering, Jackie, because obviously the Winter

:50:50. > :50:54.Olympics has a different feel to the summer Olympics, in the sense there

:50:55. > :50:59.are the ice events in the coastal cluster, then the events in the

:51:00. > :51:01.mountains. A gold medal for Great Britain with Lizzy Yarnold, a

:51:02. > :51:11.brilliant performance yesterday in the skeleton. They wouldn't be

:51:12. > :51:15.mixing with the rest of the team. I presume, I know the guys came off

:51:16. > :51:21.the ice and were told about the gold medal performance. In the summer

:51:22. > :51:26.Olympics, there is a feel-good factor when people come back with

:51:27. > :51:31.their medals, it gives everyone a lift. I wonder whether the colours

:51:32. > :51:39.will be keeping an eye on this. -- the curlers.

:51:40. > :51:45.I am sore Gracnar I am sure that the whole of team GB will be keeping a

:51:46. > :51:50.night on the rest of the team. In Vancouver, it was great to see Amy

:51:51. > :51:57.Williams bring the medal in. We all got to see how heavy it was. It

:51:58. > :52:02.gives you a tingle in your tummy when you think, we have the chance

:52:03. > :52:07.of doing the same as they have done. You don't always get the chance to

:52:08. > :52:11.see everybody. You tend to have to keep doing the same things as you

:52:12. > :52:19.would do, especially when they are mid-competition. It is thrilling if

:52:20. > :52:25.you are on your way to the food tent, you pass a medallist and you

:52:26. > :52:32.see the joy in their face. I am sure it will have given the whole of Team

:52:33. > :52:35.GB a boost. Undoubtedly. None more so than our boys and girls. We hope

:52:36. > :53:05.they have medal chances here. Eve is just going to try to utilise

:53:06. > :53:12.that centre guard. But, a clear lead on for us. To get one tucked right

:53:13. > :53:17.in behind it. Hopefully, T-high. To make it very difficult for Korea to

:53:18. > :53:28.better it. You want to come round in behind it

:53:29. > :53:35.but also give it a little bit of space, you don't want to make it an

:53:36. > :53:41.easy promotion for Korea. I am not sure she could have placed it any

:53:42. > :53:49.better, that is a wonderful shot. If you are just joining us this morning

:53:50. > :53:54.for your morning fix of curling over breakfast Great Britain, as you can

:53:55. > :54:01.see, leading. Two matches for the women today could put them in a very

:54:02. > :54:06.strong position. With three wins so far. If they were to go to bed

:54:07. > :54:12.tonight with five wins, two losses, two more matches to come, nine

:54:13. > :54:15.matches in total in the round robin, that would be just what the

:54:16. > :54:27.doctor ordered. Two losses for Great Britain, Canada

:54:28. > :54:33.and Sweden. Sweden are down against China. Those two teams stand at the

:54:34. > :54:39.top at the moment. Before we arrived here, they were the three teams,

:54:40. > :54:44.perhaps with Switzerland, although they are having a difficult time at

:54:45. > :54:49.the minute. The three teams everyone was talking about, Great Britain,

:54:50. > :54:54.Sweden and Canada. At the start of this competition when we had two

:54:55. > :54:58.losses, a few people were worried by that and wondered how the

:54:59. > :55:05.performance would go. If you had asked the before we had come here,

:55:06. > :55:10.if they were going to lose two Games, it would be likely to be

:55:11. > :55:16.Canada and Sweden. They knew that and knew they had to panic. They had

:55:17. > :55:29.to make sure they would win against all the others.

:55:30. > :55:38.They have to treat every game as their first, with respect for the

:55:39. > :55:44.opposition you are playing against. So, that has cleared some at the

:55:45. > :55:53.front. But she has left a yellow stone sitting up there, which will

:55:54. > :56:00.give us cover. We will just try and double guard that red we have

:56:01. > :56:02.sitting in the four foot. Anna Sloan has made a good start

:56:03. > :56:17.this morning. Just wanting to try and put it right

:56:18. > :56:20.on the centre line. As Jackie was saying, to guard the red sitting in

:56:21. > :56:30.the house already. That is pretty good. Again, they have left good

:56:31. > :56:34.space between the yellow at the top of the house and the actual read in

:56:35. > :56:44.the house. It makes it a lot harder for Korea.

:56:45. > :56:56.That may just have turned a half too much, and has left a little bit of

:56:57. > :57:05.an edge that Korea can see. This is a heavy drop, hoping to come down

:57:06. > :57:09.and maybe tap the red in the house. She would worry if she only captures

:57:10. > :57:15.the edge because she has the yellow she has in the corner she can hit

:57:16. > :57:25.and rolled across. This is straight on to the nose -- she can hit and

:57:26. > :57:33.roll across. A diminutive stature but, goodness

:57:34. > :57:42.me, they can shout, to try to encourage each other to work hard in

:57:43. > :57:48.sweeping. I was going to say, which match was that, Russia versus USA,

:57:49. > :57:54.it was so loud in here. The guys were struggling to make each other

:57:55. > :57:55.heard. Not quite as noisy in the stand this morning, but noisy on the

:57:56. > :58:09.ice. Anna might have played another good

:58:10. > :58:21.shot here. Not quite. A little unfortunate there. I think Eve was

:58:22. > :58:30.trying to call that, to try and take a read, no, a red stone -- take a

:58:31. > :58:50.red. With that small error there, there

:58:51. > :58:55.is now the opportunity for Korea to hit two stones. She is sweeping hard

:58:56. > :59:02.because she wants a little roll behind. Just haven't got that, so we

:59:03. > :59:16.should still be able to see I think both stones.

:59:17. > :59:27.There is a line of guards that, if Eve Muirhead can take that back

:59:28. > :59:38.stone and rolled across. -- roll across.

:59:39. > :59:50.Even the Test accuracy at 71%, the first two stones of her three won't

:59:51. > :00:03.so good. But she has been playing well. Another good shot here.

:00:04. > :00:11.This really need to get the roll across if they can. A good shot from

:00:12. > :00:18.either your head. Just a little bit too much, will it go? Unfortunately,

:00:19. > :00:23.they do a lot of pulling at the end. They did think it was good most of

:00:24. > :00:27.the way down but with the lighter weights, you get a bigger braked --

:00:28. > :00:56.break. The decision for Korea is where to

:00:57. > :01:03.put the second shot. They do not want to leave any chance of a double

:01:04. > :01:16.against Eve Muirhead. Did you catch that? I could your watches said --

:01:17. > :01:27.here what she said, but I need a translator! They will need to come

:01:28. > :01:32.down on the right-hand side. I think probably tap big yellow or tap it

:01:33. > :01:49.back here. A tap anywhere as long as they leave

:01:50. > :02:00.enough space soul there is not the possibility of a double for Eve. She

:02:01. > :02:08.has most of the house to play with. She has played a couple of nice

:02:09. > :02:39.draws already. She has to get this right. It is coming round.

:02:40. > :03:02.They maybe slightly over swept that, because they did not want the second

:03:03. > :03:08.stone to come behind the T. It makes it a very difficult shot for a two.

:03:09. > :03:15.This shot has to be right. Otherwise we could give up the chance of a

:03:16. > :03:29.three. Eve has been playing some very good draws.

:03:30. > :03:44.Watching this, if Eve plays another good shot, they are going to try to

:03:45. > :03:49.hold the line. That is a nice shot because it has come in behind and

:03:50. > :03:55.put some pressure on Korea. She did not get the freeze she was looking

:03:56. > :04:09.for but it was well judged by the girls. It depends what she feels

:04:10. > :04:19.like, is she going to draw in? She should be able to tap that back. I

:04:20. > :04:27.wish we could see the lines better. It is hard to see. I want to get up

:04:28. > :04:37.from my commentary seat and head across to see the line from behind

:04:38. > :04:40.the sheet. It is a lot of ice she has taken which makes me think she

:04:41. > :05:03.is happy to play the draw. This might not be good enough. Once

:05:04. > :05:10.again, a good shot from Eve Muirhead asked a question and they were not

:05:11. > :05:24.able to come up with a reply, so it is a steal for rate Britain. --

:05:25. > :05:33.Great Britain. They have taken their opportunities. A good shot from Eve

:05:34. > :05:51.Muirhead. The Korean has been struggling. -- skip has been

:05:52. > :05:58.struggling. Canada could guarantee themselves pretty much a place in

:05:59. > :06:03.the top four if they when. It is for-4 against Japan who beat Great

:06:04. > :06:21.Britain yesterday. If you get into this sort of

:06:22. > :06:26.position, the men came back from a 5-1 deficit at the halfway point

:06:27. > :06:33.yesterday when Denmark pretty much fell apart because of good play from

:06:34. > :06:39.Great Britain. The women have shown that when they get their noses in

:06:40. > :06:48.front and they can start to dominate matches, they are very difficult to

:06:49. > :06:51.beat. This young Korean team making a future many errors at the moment,

:06:52. > :07:17.particularly Kim Ji-sun, the skip. Corner guard from Lee Hyun-jung.

:07:18. > :07:27.Trying to get something going again. Each time you struggle it carries

:07:28. > :07:34.on, Korea have the hammer, the last stone. If you're skip is not playing

:07:35. > :07:42.well it seems to permeate through the rest of the team. We know the

:07:43. > :07:47.skip is the one who gets the glory, but they have to carry the

:07:48. > :07:54.responsibility if the last shots start to struggle. If you cannot

:07:55. > :07:58.finish off the end, when the opportunity has been presented, you

:07:59. > :08:35.find yourself in the position Korea are in.

:08:36. > :08:49.Fighting this. It should be OK. To get round the front guard. Tuesday

:08:50. > :08:58.is the day all the matches will be complete in the Round Robin, the

:08:59. > :08:59.Round Robin will be complete on Monday and Tuesday is for

:09:00. > :09:14.tie-breaks. If you have one or two, you still

:09:15. > :09:25.have the chance of picking up three wins to finish to finish final four

:09:26. > :09:41.and have a chance of qualifying. All of these matches, even if you get

:09:42. > :09:55.towards the end you can be in a qualifying position. This is a must

:09:56. > :10:01.win for Korea. They will need this if they are to have any chance of

:10:02. > :10:09.hanging in. Everybody wanted to win games for different reasons. Once

:10:10. > :10:17.you get four losses, you are one match away from knowing your

:10:18. > :10:23.campaign will be over. The way the standings are panning out, five wins

:10:24. > :10:29.give you a chance of top four. The girls are going to have to work hard

:10:30. > :10:40.to get past the guard in front. Good sweeping. It has unfortunately, out

:10:41. > :10:46.the other side, but she did the first job in hand which was to get

:10:47. > :10:59.stone removed. -- this stone removed. Lee playing second, we

:11:00. > :11:03.talked about the fact she has been alternating with Shin Mi-sung, who

:11:04. > :11:24.is the more experienced player. Putting that pretty much where her

:11:25. > :11:32.skip had asked. I was reading a quote from Shin Mi-sung who was

:11:33. > :11:38.talking about the funding that they are receiving, millions of dollars

:11:39. > :11:45.going into Korean curling and she was remarking about how you have to

:11:46. > :11:49.remember where they came from, they were borrowing equipment from other

:11:50. > :11:57.teams and they were envious, going over to Canada, it was almost a hand

:11:58. > :12:07.to mouth existence to begin with for them. It was a similar situation for

:12:08. > :12:12.the Russians when they first darted, borrowing second-hand shoes,

:12:13. > :12:23.anything they could get their hands on sole they were playing with good

:12:24. > :12:32.equipment, and look at them now. Will fully they can get some money

:12:33. > :12:40.behind them -- hopefully. With future games moving to Asian

:12:41. > :12:50.countries, the Winter Olympics, where is the next one? Korea. The

:12:51. > :13:00.governor of the province where these four come from, they have a big new

:13:01. > :13:08.training centre, and he has funded all of their travel. That funding is

:13:09. > :13:17.going to be close to $10 million leading up to the next Olympics just

:13:18. > :13:21.for this sport, built around the women's team at the moment, but they

:13:22. > :13:40.could have a men's team as well. This Korean team will have put in a

:13:41. > :13:54.lot of preparation, but I fully expect to see after another three or

:13:55. > :14:01.form -- four years' experience, they could be doing a similar job to what

:14:02. > :14:08.Eve is doing. She skipped the team in Vancouver in 2010 and they

:14:09. > :14:14.managed to get to the play-offs, but the experience has been very good

:14:15. > :14:20.for her, she has grown into a much more professional young lady in her

:14:21. > :14:37.approach to the game. Our experience has increased tenfold.

:14:38. > :14:46.She has been playing well, Gim Un-chi. Not quite coming off for

:14:47. > :15:06.her. I felt her pain. Every time these shots are not

:15:07. > :15:13.coming off, they know how good Eve is when she is on her game, and

:15:14. > :15:15.giving her any opportunity, and the Korean skip at the moment is not

:15:16. > :15:55.matching Eve Muirhead. We are going to seek Eve with the

:15:56. > :16:02.apt turn -- see Eve with the out-turn.

:16:03. > :16:07.Eve would have liked that to sit in front of that stone. Nonetheless,

:16:08. > :16:12.what we have seen, even when there has been an opportunity for Ji-sun

:16:13. > :16:14.Kim, she has struggled to capitalise. We can see a bit of that

:16:15. > :16:44.stone. Shooting 69% overall today. They

:16:45. > :16:48.have only played four ends, so that can obviously change. She will need

:16:49. > :16:59.to improve. Has she got that one right?

:17:00. > :17:27.This gives Eve the opportunity to certainly prevent Korea scoring well

:17:28. > :17:38.here. Again, putting on the pressure for a steal.

:17:39. > :17:44.Eve Muirhead, she wants to come down and catch this on the nose if

:17:45. > :18:09.possible. It needs to turn a little more.

:18:10. > :18:16.Allowing to -- two. Is she looking to see whether she will take this

:18:17. > :18:23.on? A big shot here. There is the chance because that has rolled a

:18:24. > :18:29.little to the left. This is it. If she does miss it, it will be another

:18:30. > :18:38.steal. Whether you take this on, or take your one.

:18:39. > :18:44.I think she is going to try to take this on. I know if it was a shot

:18:45. > :18:57.facing Eve Muirhead, I know which one she would take.

:18:58. > :19:07.She only has two, obviously she has two judge the angle well, come

:19:08. > :19:14.across and take the second British stone out, sitting at three o'clock.

:19:15. > :19:19.But, miss it, that will stay in there for shot.

:19:20. > :19:37.It would give them a chance to score big. They are not touching this at

:19:38. > :19:46.all. That is right on the nose. Another steal. A steal for Great

:19:47. > :19:52.Britain. Going Eve Muirhead's way. Another opportunity missed by Korea.

:19:53. > :19:56.So, Eve Muirhead, guiding her team excellently this morning. After five

:19:57. > :20:04.ends, halfway point, they lead by three.

:20:05. > :20:13.Jackie, you said that was a shot Eve would have taken on. If the skip

:20:14. > :20:21.isn't playing well, maybe the team will say, let us go in one down. If

:20:22. > :20:28.the skip was playing well, then go for it. We saw that in the men's

:20:29. > :20:35.match with Denmark yesterday. But she has been struggling. I think you

:20:36. > :20:42.have to be almost pumped to play these shots. If she had made that

:20:43. > :20:47.shot, it would have raised her whole confidence to go into the next half

:20:48. > :20:52.of the game. But she hasn't been quite at the races today. I don't

:20:53. > :20:56.understand. If that was the end, you have to take the risk and go for a

:20:57. > :21:04.big shot, they could have scored big. She had to make sure she was

:21:05. > :21:08.going to get some sort of a roll. She overthrew that. She never even

:21:09. > :21:16.gave the stone a chance to take a turn. Looking back, if you are just

:21:17. > :21:21.joining us, the highlights of the first five ends, a good start for

:21:22. > :21:32.Korea, they picked up two in the first end. Britain responded by

:21:33. > :21:37.taking three. Eve had, her first shot of the morning, wasn't her

:21:38. > :21:40.best, but since then she has been playing some really nice stuff, well

:21:41. > :21:47.backed up by her team, setting up the yen is really well. After

:21:48. > :21:53.picking up three in the second, blanked the third. Ji-sun Kim has

:21:54. > :22:00.not been able to make the shots as she did there. An opportunity in the

:22:01. > :22:06.fourth and fifth to score but didn't take it. This steal on both

:22:07. > :22:12.occasions both going to Great Britain. Some happy British

:22:13. > :22:20.campers. Where are they camping! It is warm enough outside to be

:22:21. > :22:27.camping! People going for a little jog along the Black Sea path.

:22:28. > :22:33.Yesterday, people work in shorts and T-shirts. Unbelievable. We have to

:22:34. > :22:34.keep reminding ourselves we are at the Olympic Games, the Winter

:22:35. > :22:52.Olympic Games. We know plenty of people will be

:22:53. > :22:58.watching at home in the early morning. Whether you are off to

:22:59. > :23:04.school or at work. If you are with us... Actually, it is Saturday,

:23:05. > :23:10.goodness me. A few kids have jumped up and said, what! I think it is a

:23:11. > :23:15.break for some of the kids, from school. I am sure there will be lots

:23:16. > :23:20.of young mums, or mum is up with their kids, we are offered early

:23:21. > :23:27.risers. This will be something to watch. If there is anybody out there

:23:28. > :23:33.who is not enjoying this game of curling, I have said before there

:23:34. > :23:44.are a couple of websites you can visit, to get inspired, to find out

:23:45. > :23:53.lots of events at this Winter Olympics. And a come and try website

:23:54. > :23:59.on curling. If you are even in an area up in Scotland, I know at the

:24:00. > :24:08.moment the Scottish Championships taking place. There is also the

:24:09. > :24:13.world seniors in Dumfries at the end of April. Lots going on, if people

:24:14. > :24:21.want to continue this great sport of curling, to watch it and see how it

:24:22. > :24:25.is played. That is a fixtures clash, the Scottish Championships during

:24:26. > :24:29.the winter Olympics. There has been a lot of debate. These girls

:24:30. > :24:34.competing at the Winter Olympics and not getting the chance to play for

:24:35. > :24:41.their own home country. It's not just that, curling fans going to the

:24:42. > :24:48.Scottish Championships, but this is once every four years. I did hear

:24:49. > :24:54.all the players in Perth were glued to the television, when they are not

:24:55. > :24:59.competing they are sitting in the conference rooms watching these

:25:00. > :25:07.Games on the big screen. Whether you are a curling fan or at the Scottish

:25:08. > :25:11.Championships, at work, we won't tell anybody, seriously!

:25:12. > :25:13.If there are kids watching this morning, well done! Early on a

:25:14. > :25:27.Saturday morning. It is going well for Great Britain.

:25:28. > :25:33.Both our men's team and women's team building momentum. Sitting at the

:25:34. > :25:40.top of the standings for their first six bit -- matches. They will be

:25:41. > :25:50.back tonight, a big match this afternoon. At 2pm here in Sochi.

:25:51. > :26:01.10am back home. The British men are taking on Canada. Brad Jacobs and

:26:02. > :26:08.his brink -- rink. They like to wear the tight T-shirts. They had a

:26:09. > :26:14.tricky start, the Canadian men, getting a bit of stick back home.

:26:15. > :26:18.The expectation is particularly high particularly for the men. The women

:26:19. > :26:23.are sailing through the competition. Although, I can tell

:26:24. > :26:29.you Japan have stolen one, taking a 5-4 lead in that match. They need to

:26:30. > :26:34.win that want to assure themselves of qualification. Not quite going to

:26:35. > :26:43.plan at the moment. And Sweden have pulled to back in the last couple of

:26:44. > :26:48.ends. 3-2, China lead that one. Sweden are closing that one up a

:26:49. > :26:55.little. Not the best of starts here it --

:26:56. > :27:01.for Britain in the sixth end. We were talking through that break. I

:27:02. > :27:07.caught David Hay kind of saying that, although they are in a good

:27:08. > :27:11.position, they have to be careful. It is more the opposition's

:27:12. > :27:18.mistakes. If we look at these stats, there is not much difference

:27:19. > :27:28.in it. The Korean skip, Ji-sun Kim, it is slightly struggling. We have

:27:29. > :27:36.to keep our ion this game. -- our eye on. Another slack shot but she

:27:37. > :27:48.would have preferred to have that T-high on the centre line.

:27:49. > :27:56.I am going to give a shout out to the dads up with a young kids. I did

:27:57. > :28:05.same arms earlier but, in this day and edge, it is a 50-50 opportunity

:28:06. > :28:11.to watch with the children now -- in this day.

:28:12. > :28:20.Nowadays, lots of dads are watching with their kids. A big shout out to

:28:21. > :28:25.all of you dads. Have resorted everybody at, kept

:28:26. > :28:34.everybody happy? I am trying my best here. -- have we sorted everybody

:28:35. > :28:38.out. There is one group we haven't

:28:39. > :28:40.mentioned, that is the teenagers. If you are up this morning, well done

:28:41. > :28:52.to you. Using these two shots at the back.

:28:53. > :28:58.They wanted to be a little closer there. To make it difficult for

:28:59. > :29:06.Great Britain to remove the yellow stone. Because of this, I am sure

:29:07. > :29:16.Eve will be happy to throw some heavyweight at this -- heavy weight

:29:17. > :29:24.at this. Yesterday, let us not forget,

:29:25. > :29:31.Britain were 5-1 down against Denmark. Although Great Britain are

:29:32. > :29:34.up against Korea... That is a very nice shot. Even though things have

:29:35. > :29:41.gone your way, it is easily turned around. Things can turn right

:29:42. > :29:45.around. And start going against you. That was a nice shot, just clipping

:29:46. > :30:02.it. She is happy with that one.

:30:03. > :30:08.Seul-bee Lee, trying to play a similar shot to last time. Still

:30:09. > :30:19.those two stones for her to come up against.

:30:20. > :30:31.This makes the margin of error less in a smaller surface area. She has

:30:32. > :30:49.played that stone very well. Ill has the possibility to come down on the

:30:50. > :30:54.in turn. I think left-handed players are a great asset to any team. That

:30:55. > :31:16.is a nice shot. That is a smile we have seen plenty

:31:17. > :31:27.of from Anna Sloan. These four, they have all known each other a long

:31:28. > :31:31.time, all of a similar age. Anna had plenty of success in her junior

:31:32. > :31:41.career and is now backing up Eve Muirhead really well. This has been

:31:42. > :31:49.a great little unit they have going. They get on on and off the ice and

:31:50. > :31:57.that makes such a difference in this sport.

:31:58. > :32:17.They did not have the weight for that shot. Plenty of volume. We

:32:18. > :32:24.thought the crowd was loud. They have been particularly quiet. There

:32:25. > :32:32.is a little Korean contingent who were practising their chants, they

:32:33. > :33:01.have not had much to say. Great Britain keeping control.

:33:02. > :33:18.I think once again we are going to try the about -- out turn raise. You

:33:19. > :33:30.want it to sit right on top of it and have no space between yours and

:33:31. > :33:38.the opposition's stone. Something like that. Another couple of inches,

:33:39. > :33:44.but to be honest she has been playing really well. She has been

:33:45. > :33:49.setting the skip up, combating Anna Sloan, it is probably frustrating

:33:50. > :33:59.for her, but she has to keep playing her shots and hope that her skip

:34:00. > :34:05.comes to the game. I suppose that is what the coach will have said, keep

:34:06. > :34:10.setting up the opportunities and hope that Kim Ji-sun starts to play

:34:11. > :34:31.a little better. It would be good if that could hang

:34:32. > :34:39.in. That was a nice try. It came across the face a little bit too

:34:40. > :34:46.much and it has jammed the yellow and it has not removed from play. It

:34:47. > :34:51.gives people back the opportunity to draw one down and rest in front of

:34:52. > :34:58.the red stone we see on the right-hand side of the back. She has

:34:59. > :35:12.to play a straightforward shot and set things up for herself. Both of

:35:13. > :35:23.those last steals, her shot was not good enough. The team have set it up

:35:24. > :35:45.and created the opportunity and as a skip you have to finish it off.

:35:46. > :36:05.She did manage that. I think we will see Eve Muirhead remove this yellow

:36:06. > :36:13.stone. She is going to try to come down and take that, as she looks at

:36:14. > :36:22.it, the stored on the right -- stone. I have said this a couple of

:36:23. > :36:34.times, Kim Ji-sun would have a great opportunity to come back and take

:36:35. > :36:42.the two. She needs to make sure that Eve Muirhead get this right and hits

:36:43. > :36:49.it on the nose, which she does. That should be a fairly straightforward

:36:50. > :36:55.shot for Kim Ji-sun. If she gets this wrong, she might not have too

:36:56. > :37:10.many friends amongst the team. She has a play a similar shot to the

:37:11. > :37:34.one that Eve Muirhead has just done and close the gap . She is shouting

:37:35. > :37:45.at them to close the line. They take their two, finally and Kim Ji-sun

:37:46. > :37:52.will breathe a sigh of relief. The very first end she has managed to do

:37:53. > :38:17.that. Great Britain will have the hammer in the seventh end.

:38:18. > :38:25.She seemed more worried than I think she needed to be. It is probably

:38:26. > :38:32.more to do with what has gone before. A few union Jacks kicking

:38:33. > :38:59.around. Canada still trailing Japan full.

:39:00. > :39:13.China still 3-2 up and have the hammer.

:39:14. > :39:28.Looking at their match, there are nine stones and you could just about

:39:29. > :39:42.the roll your jacket over them, a big jacket!

:39:43. > :40:03.Great Britain have last stone advantage, the hammer, in this end,

:40:04. > :40:15.and we really need to stop tee high. Why is it called the hammer? Do not

:40:16. > :40:21.look at me like that! I am not sure. I think it is a Canadian term. I

:40:22. > :40:31.will have to look that up. You got me out! It visually strange -- is

:40:32. > :40:38.really strange because the girls have one slow piece all and one

:40:39. > :40:55.grippy Saul and a rubber attachment and we call it a cap. -- a kipper.

:40:56. > :41:05.It probably looks like a kipper and smells like a kipper! That is your

:41:06. > :41:19.homework. I knew you would put me under pressure.

:41:20. > :41:31.You can hear a little frustration. Struggling with weight this morning.

:41:32. > :41:41.Eve came to put the pressure on. The team is playing 81 against 81% so

:41:42. > :41:50.you have to keep your eye on the game.

:41:51. > :42:07.Over the next four ends, you should have the hammer in the ninth.

:42:08. > :42:33.Eve Muirhead wanting to clear things out a little. Those guards could

:42:34. > :42:44.cause her trouble later. That is pretty good. Good result for Vicki

:42:45. > :43:03.Adams. That has cleared things out up front. The British stone that has

:43:04. > :43:13.stared -- stayed there might comment to play later.

:43:14. > :43:17.With one stone, trying to get onto the centre line. That is pretty

:43:18. > :43:33.good. Eve calling for Vicki Adams to come

:43:34. > :44:21.in and tap this one back. Just biting that one at the bottom,

:44:22. > :44:26.the Korean stone. It has gone across and sat behind the corner guard that

:44:27. > :44:35.I said might be come useful at one point. She said she could not see

:44:36. > :44:37.any of it. There is a draw in there and if we can get past the top guard

:44:38. > :45:05.there is a possibility. With them hitting and rolling

:45:06. > :45:18.out... The Korean stone just scoring at the moment.

:45:19. > :45:24.We are going to try to put one round behind the corner guard, to utilise

:45:25. > :45:45.that. Hopefully, get a mistake. On the challenge you have set me. Do

:45:46. > :45:50.I get a couple of options, to ask the audience, phone a friend? If you

:45:51. > :45:53.have given me a couple of options, I am not going to ask the audience

:45:54. > :46:03.because I am not sure they will know. I might have two phone a

:46:04. > :46:09.friend. That is the same thing! -- have to phone a friend.

:46:10. > :46:15.Actually, why did you pick a friend who hasn't got up yet, they would be

:46:16. > :46:26.delighted you ringing them on a Saturday morning. Wakey wakey!

:46:27. > :46:40.A nice shot played by Anna. Korea are now having to follow.

:46:41. > :46:51.Another decent shot from Un-chi Gim. They have lifted themselves up a

:46:52. > :46:56.little bit. Obviously, they have been encouraging each other well.

:46:57. > :47:01.You can tell they are sensing they might have a chance to turn this

:47:02. > :47:02.around a little. They have picked up two in the previous end which has

:47:03. > :47:20.given them some encouragement. As you can see, Britain lying shot

:47:21. > :47:54.here with the skips to play. She really does have two, Ji-sun

:47:55. > :48:03.Kim, it has really been her indifferent play over the last five

:48:04. > :48:06.ends which saw them 5-2 down. A couple of decent shots in the

:48:07. > :48:32.previous end have helped her. A good try. It stayed pretty

:48:33. > :48:43.straight down there. It did, it held the line. It is behind the centre

:48:44. > :48:48.line in the back half of the ring. Eve, I don't think, will be too

:48:49. > :48:57.worried by it. There is a really nice am a good

:48:58. > :49:15.finish on this outturn. As long as they judge and control it

:49:16. > :49:18.well, they can leave that, drawing until the very last minute, behind

:49:19. > :49:45.the centre. Another good shot from either your

:49:46. > :49:52.head. Maybe slid on a little too far if I am being picky. It would have

:49:53. > :49:58.been nice to sit on the blue, the other side of the blue on the top.

:49:59. > :50:05.But it is still lying shot at the minute. The Korean skip, Ji-sun Kim,

:50:06. > :50:12.will have to play a good shot if she is to force a one or two steel one

:50:13. > :50:23.-- steal one. Otherwise, there is the possibility

:50:24. > :50:29.that Eve could try to promote and take it out.

:50:30. > :50:37.Ji-sun Kim trying to follow up the good shot she played a few moments

:50:38. > :50:44.ago. To try to force Eve Muirhead perhaps to take the one, it is still

:50:45. > :50:57.out there. This one has deftly got much more weight. She has been

:50:58. > :51:04.caught a couple of times here. Once again, Ji-sun Kim not playing the

:51:05. > :51:09.shot her team needed. Even if she had come across in front of the

:51:10. > :51:15.stone, it would have been much better than that. She has tapped her

:51:16. > :51:17.own behind said Eve has more protection of the red stone sitting

:51:18. > :51:18.there. A fairly straightforward draw for

:51:19. > :51:36.Eve Muirhead. The British skip, looking to pick up

:51:37. > :51:40.the two here. It has been another good end for Great Britain and

:51:41. > :51:46.another end where the Korean skip, Ji-sun Kim, has struggled.

:51:47. > :51:55.So, another nice shot from Eve Muirhead. Perfectly played. And

:51:56. > :52:05.watched by the sweepers. Another two for Great Britain. It is 7-4, as

:52:06. > :52:08.they head into the last three ends. Korea will have the hammer in the

:52:09. > :52:14.eighth. Their skip is really struggling. For Great Britain, it is

:52:15. > :52:19.very much as planned, so far, looking good.

:52:20. > :52:34.STUDIO: You can see the end of this match on the red button. This is the

:52:35. > :52:39.first of two matches. They have the Swiss. If you want to keep watching,

:52:40. > :52:47.the red button. Dave Murdoch has a potentially

:52:48. > :52:52.significant day. At 10am your time, against the Canadians. A very big

:52:53. > :52:59.match. If you have set your alarm, good morning, welcome to coverage of

:53:00. > :53:05.date eight of the Sochi Games. A reasonably gentle start. But I am

:53:06. > :53:14.going to turn on the bonus, with the Super-G. It stands for super giant

:53:15. > :53:17.slalom. Plenty of straight line speed but a few turns to keep it

:53:18. > :53:22.interesting. We are heading up to the Rosa Khutor

:53:23. > :53:27.Alpine Centre. The mountain peaks have been a real feature. Everyone

:53:28. > :53:31.commentating how beautiful the scenery has been. And everybody

:53:32. > :53:37.talking as well about the conditions. Yesterday it was 14

:53:38. > :53:41.degrees in the mountains for the combined event which produced

:53:42. > :53:45.another surprise winner, Viletta winning, from Switzerland. We are

:53:46. > :53:55.starting to see some interesting results. Liver Tim called these

:53:56. > :53:59.funky results. Whilst we could get some crueller temperatures at the

:54:00. > :54:06.end of the weekend, I wonder what we will get this morning on the

:54:07. > :54:11.beautiful but warm day. Emma Carrick Anderson and Matt Chilton are in the

:54:12. > :54:15.commentary box. Three out of the four of these Alpine events have

:54:16. > :54:23.produced some eyebrow raising results. Any hints of disquiet up

:54:24. > :54:28.there? We are looking out of the box now

:54:29. > :54:35.and the views are fantastic, a sensational day. The top of the

:54:36. > :54:41.Super-G is firm, very icy. From where we look, the snow looks

:54:42. > :54:46.lovely, the kind of snow you would enjoy as a recreational skier in

:54:47. > :55:00.April. Racing, not so ideal. The early numbers will do well.

:55:01. > :55:07.Hopefully, the course will hold up. Switzerland have had two gold medals

:55:08. > :55:16.already in the Alpine events. It is Lara Gut, the big Swiss hope today.

:55:17. > :55:23.Lara but will certainly be looking to make amends. She is currently

:55:24. > :55:28.third in the Super-G standings. And looking to make amends after missing

:55:29. > :55:29.out on a downhill gold medal, finishing third, to Tina Maze and

:55:30. > :55:44.Dominique Giffen. -- Gissin. We are just seeing her on the screen

:55:45. > :55:51.from the other day. Who else is there?

:55:52. > :56:00.Interesting, a few who could put an upset in there. Yesterday, we saw

:56:01. > :56:08.Ivica Kostelic, whose coach and father set the slow -- slalom.

:56:09. > :56:15.Today, it could go the way of Anna Fenninger. For me, Tina Weirather,

:56:16. > :56:24.she will be strong as well. Tina Maze, you can't write her off. It

:56:25. > :56:37.will be a great race. From 16-22, we will be on the edge of our seats.

:56:38. > :56:51.Looking at the start list, tell us more.

:56:52. > :56:56.When you come from a family with great heritage, you are destined for

:56:57. > :57:05.great things. This youngster is a fighter, rarely out of the top five.

:57:06. > :57:11.To come back from a nasty bump to the shin the other day in downhill

:57:12. > :57:27.training, well done to get up and put one down today. Good morning,

:57:28. > :57:33.Matt. Her father won six World Cup races as well. And her uncle Andy

:57:34. > :57:41.was an Olympic medallist, she comes from a terrific ski racing pedigree.

:57:42. > :57:46.I understand Graham Bell has just completed a course run less than

:57:47. > :57:51.five minutes ago, this is what it is like.

:57:52. > :57:57.The skies have cleared and conditions could not be more perfect

:57:58. > :58:08.for the women to tackle. At the start, a couple of little turns

:58:09. > :58:17.before you head towards this jump. Really important to keep the skis

:58:18. > :58:21.flat which fly over onto the gliding exception. They have done their best

:58:22. > :58:38.to clear it but it is not running that fast I have to say.

:58:39. > :58:50.Approaching the telephone turn now. Over a little jump. It is going to

:58:51. > :59:01.get going a little later on. Now, into the Meadows. Lots of big,

:59:02. > :59:05.sweeping turns. Lots of terrain in here, you have to be strong,

:59:06. > :59:20.pressing forward over the outside ski. Quite dark and shady. Now, into

:59:21. > :59:31.the forest. Close to that gate. And out, past the net. Now, the tunnel

:59:32. > :59:41.jump and into the bright sunshine. Avoiding the bumps. Now into the

:59:42. > :59:47.legendary compression. Over there, take a little bit of air. This is

:59:48. > :59:57.where you can really let the speed run. Inside, to the finish.

:59:58. > :00:09.Those of you who are eager light will have realised that is in fact

:00:10. > :00:11.file desire -- Val d'Isere. Rosa Khutor is where we are. I don't know

:00:12. > :00:34.why the confusion. Sorry, Hazel. There is a tunnel jump

:00:35. > :00:45.here. That is the only comparison to Val d'Isere. I think we are ready to

:00:46. > :00:49.start the race now. So, on another perfect morning in the mountains, it

:00:50. > :00:55.is all systems go for the women's Olympics will budget, the newest of

:00:56. > :00:59.the pine disciplines, combining the rush of downhill with the technical

:01:00. > :01:04.demands of giant slalom. It is high-speed, hard work from top to

:01:05. > :01:12.bottom. It will be the Spanish skier, Carolina Ruiz Castillo, who

:01:13. > :01:24.opens this race. It really is a steep start. We are coming from the

:01:25. > :01:34.right. It is a sheer drop from here. Number one in the gate, Carolina

:01:35. > :01:41.Ruiz Castillo of Spain, the 2014 Olympic women's Super-G. She pushes

:01:42. > :01:47.out of the gate. We have alternating red and blue gates here. It is

:01:48. > :01:54.high-speed, high octane turning. And that is her Olympics over. Ending at

:01:55. > :02:02.gate number three. What a terrible start for the Spanish racer. She

:02:03. > :02:08.will be kicking herself. The boat clips hit the snow, and there was

:02:09. > :02:13.nothing a racer can do. It is over. We saw her banging her poll on the

:02:14. > :02:21.snow. She will be furious. What a shame. How frustrating for her and

:02:22. > :02:28.her Scottish coach. She has been on good form in the last six months as

:02:29. > :02:33.well. She will be wanting to talk to nobody as she finds her way down the

:02:34. > :02:42.side of the cause. If she is anything like me, I would not speak

:02:43. > :02:45.to anybody for days. I remember! So an earlier start than planned for

:02:46. > :02:58.Leanne Smith of the USA, from New Hampshire. She is from near where

:02:59. > :03:06.Bode Miller hails from, on the east coast. We are just waiting for the

:03:07. > :03:14.timing controller with the headphones on. She will have seen

:03:15. > :03:19.that mistake, so she will have a heads up on that. This top section

:03:20. > :03:25.is very slippery. It does not really get any son. Leanne Smith,

:03:26. > :03:34.26-year-old American, ready to race the Olympic Super-G. Lots of words

:03:35. > :03:43.of encouragement from the American coaches behind. She charges out of

:03:44. > :03:50.the gate and gets down to work. We have a group of Americans in front

:03:51. > :04:01.of us, so they are going crazy. She is on to the Bolshoi to reverse.

:04:02. > :04:05.This is straight. Turn four and five are important. This is where the

:04:06. > :04:12.race could be won or lost. This section is a wake-up call because

:04:13. > :04:19.you have been on that left leg for some time. It might be flatter here,

:04:20. > :04:26.but there are lot of terms. The distance of this course is just over

:04:27. > :04:32.2000m, 2100, starting at 1580 metres, dropping down to 965 metres

:04:33. > :04:38.above sea-level. A vertical drop of 600m from top to bottom. Leanne

:04:39. > :04:43.Smith is coming in and out of the tuck, as you often see on these

:04:44. > :04:49.flatter sections. When you are in the tuck, you can't move your legs

:04:50. > :04:53.as well. A huge mistake, terrible direction of that jump. It is over

:04:54. > :04:58.for her. She landed poorly off the solitary jump, and then she had to

:04:59. > :05:03.make a couple of emergency manoeuvres, skiing extra mileage to

:05:04. > :05:08.put herself back on the racing line. No medals for her today. The course

:05:09. > :05:12.at the bottom is more like a giant slalom than a downhill. At the top,

:05:13. > :05:20.it is closer to a downhill. It is a real test that the Austrian coach

:05:21. > :05:23.has set for this Super-G. She had to have a lot more direction. I think

:05:24. > :05:36.she was surprised by the amount of air she took off that jump. Huge

:05:37. > :05:41.disappointment for Smith. Daniela Merighetti, from Italy. 32 years

:05:42. > :05:44.old, one of the veterans. Just missed a medal in the Olympic

:05:45. > :05:54.downhill. She was fourth on Wednesday. Oh, but mistakes! -- but

:05:55. > :05:59.mistakes. It is proving very difficult. There will be a lot of

:06:00. > :06:06.radio contact going from the bottom back up. If these girls do not go on

:06:07. > :06:10.weak no attacking where they are doing, this is the big thing in

:06:11. > :06:15.Super-G. This is what makes it such a difficult discipline. You are

:06:16. > :06:19.still skiing at such high speeds, 50 or 60 miles an hour. You get one

:06:20. > :06:23.inspection for 45 minutes. Unlike the downhill, where you have a feud

:06:24. > :06:29.training runs and inspections, these girls see it once and then it is

:06:30. > :06:35.flat out or nothing. It is a very difficult -- discipline to ski a

:06:36. > :06:42.fast, clean line. But she has used that mistake to her advantage. She

:06:43. > :06:46.is pushing hard and skiing well. I would think this course might play

:06:47. > :06:52.into the hands of Lara Gooch, who starts at number 20 today -- Lara

:06:53. > :07:10.Gut. It is icy and demanding, the sort of course she would normally

:07:11. > :07:16.thrive on. But this is going to be a serious test this morning. We are

:07:17. > :07:20.going to lose a lot of the starters. You can see that it is trapping up

:07:21. > :07:30.already. Again, Daniela Merighetti did not have enough direction on

:07:31. > :07:39.that solitary jump. Jessica Lindell-Vikarby could do well today.

:07:40. > :07:44.The technical demands of this course will suit the Swede. She did not

:07:45. > :07:49.race in the super combined to the downhill, so she is making her first

:07:50. > :07:54.Olympic appearance in 2014. And making the best of the top section,

:07:55. > :08:02.better than anybody so far to the first five turns. Maybe a bit round,

:08:03. > :08:07.but in hindsight, she could have attacked it a bit more. So many

:08:08. > :08:12.mistakes were made by the three girls before her, she thought, maybe

:08:13. > :08:18.I will take it easy and get through the difficult section. She will

:08:19. > :08:24.enjoy this bit. It might be flat, but this course is a work from top

:08:25. > :08:32.to bottom. She has a win under her belt already this season in the

:08:33. > :08:35.giant slalom. She gets very vocal when she comes down these courses.

:08:36. > :08:43.You can hear her screaming and grunting her way through some of the

:08:44. > :08:49.terms. I did not hear any grunting, but we might be grunting! Come on!

:08:50. > :08:54.That section really is difficult. What a shame. She was skiing so

:08:55. > :09:03.well. They have to come in with way more direction. It is a left-footed

:09:04. > :09:06.turn. Then you take off on the left foot, but you have to land very

:09:07. > :09:13.quickly on the right hand. She lands too far to the left. It is the

:09:14. > :09:16.solitary jump that is catching them out, and that is in view of the

:09:17. > :09:22.crowd, so there was a collective groan when they saw another one fail

:09:23. > :09:39.to finish, remarkably. They are falling like flies here. Marie

:09:40. > :09:42.Marchand-Arvier -- Marie-Michele Gagnon dislocated her shoulder

:09:43. > :09:49.earlier. They popped it back in quickly, and she decided to race

:09:50. > :10:04.today. Another one bites the dust. Has anyone finished yet? No. So,

:10:05. > :10:09.maybe a little bit too tough. It is very slick up there. I think the

:10:10. > :10:16.girls have got to back off, especially on this top section. They

:10:17. > :10:21.should skim it rounder, giving themselves more space, like a giant

:10:22. > :10:25.slalom. Actually, Leanne Smith did finish. It was a shoddy finish, but

:10:26. > :10:37.she did make over gates. So she still leads the way. We have one

:10:38. > :10:45.racer in the finish. And so far, four did not finishes. The next

:10:46. > :10:48.racer is another one coming back from a fall, Marie Marchand-Arvier.

:10:49. > :10:53.She had the biggest fall of the Olympics so far, when she clattered

:10:54. > :11:02.headfirst into the safety netting at the top. I am amazed that she is

:11:03. > :11:07.racing today, but she is clearly battered and bruised, but feeling

:11:08. > :11:12.fit enough to tackle this Super-G. The two way radios are working

:11:13. > :11:15.overtime with instructions from the bottom and the middle part of the

:11:16. > :11:20.course, via the coaches to the racers at the top, giving them

:11:21. > :11:25.instructions. They are saving medals to be won today, with all the

:11:26. > :11:31.fallers we are going to experience. There is a chance for somebody from

:11:32. > :11:38.outside the top Super-G rankings to get in amongst the medals. Marie

:11:39. > :11:43.Marchand-Arvier failed to finish the downhill. Can she make it to the

:11:44. > :11:48.bottom of the Olympic Super-G? You can see her skis bouncing around,

:11:49. > :11:54.and she is out as well. My goodness, this is proving so tough at the top.

:11:55. > :12:04.Graham said after his run on the course that it is so slick. You can

:12:05. > :12:09.see the skis bouncing around. Good on them for putting their injuries

:12:10. > :12:12.behind them. It shows how tough these athletes are physically and

:12:13. > :12:17.mentally, that they can come back a few days later and try and put it

:12:18. > :12:21.behind them. If she is the only one to finish, they will give her all

:12:22. > :12:40.the medals, Leanne Smith! That would be a first! So, five failed to

:12:41. > :12:50.finish. Six have started. The person who set the course may now be

:12:51. > :12:55.thinking it is a bit too tough. Lauren Ross of the US will be next

:12:56. > :13:04.to go. Let's give you a heads up of some of the big names. Julia Mancuso

:13:05. > :13:10.starts in 14. Nicole Hosp in 16. Tina Weirather in 17. They are

:13:11. > :13:16.gathering hard and fast at the side of the course. That is such an

:13:17. > :13:28.unusual sight to see. Laurenne Ross's turn next. So, we have one

:13:29. > :13:37.finisher, Leanne Smith, 1:28.38. If Lauren Ross gets there, we will have

:13:38. > :13:46.a USA 1-2, but this is a really unusual situation. She needs to be

:13:47. > :13:52.gentle with these terms, not push too hard on the edges. She has that

:13:53. > :13:59.clean, high line. She is one of the lucky ones. A team-mate Smith is in

:14:00. > :14:04.the finish, so she will have had contacted via the two-way radio. She

:14:05. > :14:09.will know how it feels to ski it. The coaches can only radio back and

:14:10. > :14:15.say what it looks like, so she is in a strong position. 11th in the

:14:16. > :14:23.downhill on Wednesday. She has got to be dynamic. This is the thing

:14:24. > :14:30.with the soft snow. From here down, it starts to get soft. From Laurenne

:14:31. > :14:35.Ross, it will feel nice to ski on. It is not so nice once it chops up,

:14:36. > :14:44.but she's loving it at the moment. Good, clean skiing. She has still

:14:45. > :14:48.got the solitary jump to come. If you have come unstuck here. Ross

:14:49. > :14:59.damns them sideways, but makes the next. And she is out! I can't

:15:00. > :15:06.believe it. Stays on her feet and skis home, but no time. And yet

:15:07. > :15:11.another one. We have got one from seven in the finish now.

:15:12. > :15:15.Unbelievable. You very rarely see a 360 on the middle of a very steep

:15:16. > :15:25.supergiant kissed. The ten out of ten for acrobatic skills, but

:15:26. > :15:32.unfortunately, no time for her. Next to go, Kajsa Kling from Sweden.

:15:33. > :15:38.British interest today, Chemmy Alcott. Will be interesting to see

:15:39. > :15:45.what the state of players among the leaders by the time she comes down a

:15:46. > :15:50.little later on. Let us keep our fingers crossed she can at least get

:15:51. > :15:58.a finish today. Kajsa Kling on her way. We don't. Leanne Smith has

:15:59. > :16:06.18.7. This is more like it. Kajsa Kling, what a great top section.

:16:07. > :16:12.Very good. The strongest top part by far. She started the turn and

:16:13. > :16:16.finished it early and let a little -- let it run a little more. A clean

:16:17. > :16:22.start. She had a second in December. She knows how to put the hammer down

:16:23. > :16:28.and she knows what it feels like to ski to the podium. Seventh in the

:16:29. > :16:35.Super-G standings. Looks pretty comfortable here. Nice and light and

:16:36. > :16:43.easy on her edges. Toughest part of the course, keep part of the course,

:16:44. > :16:51.coming up. Solitary jump. Got away with it so far. No! Another one. I

:16:52. > :16:56.actually cannot believe this. She took so much direction over the

:16:57. > :17:02.roller. She was in a perfect line. Perfect line. She made a quick edge

:17:03. > :17:06.change and in my view it almost looked like in her head she thought

:17:07. > :17:12.I cannot make it. She looked to me like she could make it. Quick edge

:17:13. > :17:16.change. She is late but I think she could have fought just that little

:17:17. > :17:21.bit more. Leanne Smith cannot believe what is going on. She was

:17:22. > :17:25.not exactly fast at the bottom but she is still leading. She skied

:17:26. > :17:39.extra mileage all the way down with loop terms. -- turns. Next, Fabienne

:17:40. > :17:43.Suter. This course is set by one of the Austrian coaches. The way things

:17:44. > :17:47.are, he will not be very popular. Certainly not. If I was eight

:17:48. > :17:53.coats, I would be banging them around me had by now that macro if I

:17:54. > :17:58.was a coach -- if I was a coach, I would be banging them around the

:17:59. > :18:05.head by now. She stays long on the left ski, coming out of Bolshoy

:18:06. > :18:11.Traverse. Not a big jump today but they have to make a move. She was a

:18:12. > :18:19.little bit late there. She is up. Good. Fifth in the downhill. Solid

:18:20. > :18:25.Olympic result under her belt. Relatively straightforward flat here

:18:26. > :18:29.but then suddenly the ground drops away as she gets airborne off the

:18:30. > :18:35.solitary jump. She has got a fast section in towards the finish to

:18:36. > :18:41.negotiate. She has got to judge the line correctly and be nice and high.

:18:42. > :18:46.Here we go. A little bit direct. I think they have to actually take the

:18:47. > :18:50.speed off. Good. She is there. She has made it through. They have to

:18:51. > :18:54.take the speed off as they come into the big turn and then they can

:18:55. > :19:03.safely manoeuvre themselves through the last gates. Unbelievable tension

:19:04. > :19:11.as they watch. Finally, a finisher. Fabian Schar route at skis into gold

:19:12. > :19:19.medal position -- Fabienne Suter skis into gold medal position. The

:19:20. > :19:28.two finishers so far out of nine starters. Fabulous it, such a strong

:19:29. > :19:34.run. Almost error-free. When she came over the last jump, she made

:19:35. > :19:44.snow contact very quickly. Next to go, Nadia Fanchini from Italy. This

:19:45. > :19:51.course should suit her as well. She has a whole stack of DNFs on her

:19:52. > :20:01.name against the result. If anyone will ski out, Nadia Fanchini. Maybe

:20:02. > :20:11.today she will turn it around. Fearless skier. Can she make it

:20:12. > :20:15.count today? She is not .52 behind. Losing a pole on the Bolshoy

:20:16. > :20:28.Traverse as she tried to regain her physician. But now she is off again

:20:29. > :20:33.and she is enjoying her turns. -- regain her position. Losing speed

:20:34. > :20:37.all the way down. Still could be good enough for second position. She

:20:38. > :20:43.has to harness the speed and control her arrival of the solitary jump.

:20:44. > :20:46.Now things get tough. She gets some sideways and then she is back in

:20:47. > :20:53.control. She has got or dynamic balance. This is a nice Highline,

:20:54. > :20:58.one of the best we have seen, on the final pitch which has caught so many

:20:59. > :21:03.out. Can she become the third skier to finish the Olympic Super-G? She

:21:04. > :21:14.is home and dry and second, in silver. Fabienne Suter still has the

:21:15. > :21:23.best time. Leanne Smith in bronze at the moment. Nadia Fanchini drawing

:21:24. > :21:29.on her slalom skills as she had to make quit quick changes. The turn of

:21:30. > :21:40.the joint Olympic downhill champion, Dominique Gisin. Shared the downhill

:21:41. > :21:55.gold. Tina Maze joined her with an identical time, 1:45.57. Coming in

:21:56. > :22:00.with a load of confidence. Maybe a little bit late in the line into

:22:01. > :22:04.Bolshoy Traverse. Gates four and five, you have got to be early and

:22:05. > :22:09.quick out of it so you can carry the speed into the Traverse. Gold

:22:10. > :22:17.medallist in downhill, fifth in the super combined. Not .86 of the place

:22:18. > :22:24.of team-mate Fabienne Suter who leads the pace -- 0.86. She

:22:25. > :22:30.generally prefers the more open higher speed turns. This Super-G

:22:31. > :22:37.maybe a little bit too tight, playing into the hands of the giant

:22:38. > :22:42.slalom specialist. This is the key part. She has got to come from left

:22:43. > :22:51.to right and rise the arms forward. This is good and clean skiing. Very,

:22:52. > :22:56.very clean. She is in trouble. She ends up horizontal. No finish for

:22:57. > :23:02.her today. I hope she is all right. It was a fairly innocuous looking

:23:03. > :23:07.slip. Let us hope she has done no damage. I think she just caught an

:23:08. > :23:11.edge and maybe this is the part of the course that they have been

:23:12. > :23:19.throwing a let chilly lot of chemicals and salt down on it to

:23:20. > :23:25.soften it up -- throwing a lot of chemicals and salt down. We have

:23:26. > :23:39.only three finishers at the bottom of the course. Fabienne Suter is in

:23:40. > :23:45.gold. I am happy to say, she appears to have got away unscathed following

:23:46. > :23:51.the slide. I cannot believe we have three finishers out of 11 starters.

:23:52. > :23:56.Wow. A long way to go. Everyone is learning. They are watching at the

:23:57. > :24:01.top and they are discussing at the top what needs to be done.

:24:02. > :24:11.Especially off the solitary jump. The control that needs to be exerted

:24:12. > :24:21.on that final steep pitch. 11 turns, that is the key part of the course.

:24:22. > :24:37.Next to go for Italy, Verena Stuffer. Here we go. Racer number

:24:38. > :24:42.12. She is away. Good Super-G results this season. She has been

:24:43. > :24:46.getting better all the time. She had a fourth place just before the

:24:47. > :24:52.Olympics. They find she is hitting good Super-G form. A bit scruffy at

:24:53. > :25:02.the top. A little bit heavy on the left ski. It shows in the time. What

:25:03. > :25:08.a shame. I would just like to wreak upon what makes Super-G so

:25:09. > :25:13.difficult. They get one inspection. I was like that happens all the

:25:14. > :25:21.time, going out of the course. One inspection of 45 minutes. They fly

:25:22. > :25:27.at speeds of up to 60mph. They have rollers and tight turns and jumps.

:25:28. > :25:33.It is so tricky. It is not like the downhill when they get for five

:25:34. > :25:39.training runs. -- four or five training runs. She is still on

:25:40. > :25:47.target for a medal position. She sets up for the solitary jump.

:25:48. > :25:56.Minimum air time there. She is drifting outside of the ideal racing

:25:57. > :26:01.line but she is holding her balance. Verena Stuffer of Italy, looks like

:26:02. > :26:05.she will finish for Super-G. That is an achievement in itself. She is

:26:06. > :26:17.home in bronze for the moment. Good finish from Verena Stuffer. Fabienne

:26:18. > :26:25.Suter leads. Leanne Smith has been bumped off the medal positions into

:26:26. > :26:31.fourth. They cut the top of the turn off, you see it a lot in giant

:26:32. > :26:37.slalom. Certainly a lot going on here in the Super-G. The first of

:26:38. > :26:45.the Austrians to go, Regina Sterz. The coach of the Austrians set the

:26:46. > :26:51.course. Potentially could be a good day for Anna Fenninger, the best of

:26:52. > :26:57.the Austrians, number 18. Regina Sterz has made a promising start. In

:26:58. > :27:04.touch. Did not look metered enough to me. A bit heavy on the edge.

:27:05. > :27:11.Maybe she thought, I will get through the difficult top section,

:27:12. > :27:20.and now she will pick up the speed. The Austrians won in Vancouver. It

:27:21. > :27:24.was their only Olympic gold. That when I did not get picked. There is

:27:25. > :27:31.no automatic selection. Such depth in the Austrian squad, they felt her

:27:32. > :27:36.form was not good enough so she was not selected to come and defend her

:27:37. > :27:43.title. Good line from Regina Sterz. She knows she is coming into the

:27:44. > :27:50.tricky part of the course. Good turns here. She makes a little

:27:51. > :27:54.mistake as she comes onto the flat. Fabienne Suter leads for

:27:55. > :28:02.Switzerland. Regina Sterz is three games from completing the Super-G.

:28:03. > :28:06.Huge amounts of nervous anticipation at the foot of the course. She skis

:28:07. > :28:11.into bronze medal position for the moment. Now at last we are getting a

:28:12. > :28:15.regular stream of finishers in the Olympic Super-G. We see her coming

:28:16. > :28:21.off the difficult jump. They know they have got to get the skis back

:28:22. > :28:27.onto the snow, makes no contact, as quickly as possible but, -- as

:28:28. > :28:34.possible, you have got to be ready for the next turn. Julia Mancuso

:28:35. > :28:42.next to go for the USA. Bronze medallist in the super combined. Let

:28:43. > :28:49.us see how she goes in the Super-G. I think she will involve the league

:28:50. > :28:54.enjoyed this course. She likes things slightly alternative.

:28:55. > :29:00.Straight into the truck on Bolshoy Traverse. She trains in Hawaii. She

:29:01. > :29:06.does all her training in the beach and on the sea. She does sprints in

:29:07. > :29:13.the sea with rocks in her hands. A bit bizarre, but it works. Half a

:29:14. > :29:19.second behind and getting further removed. But there was still an

:29:20. > :29:25.opportunity on the final pitch to make up lost time. Nobody has skied

:29:26. > :29:31.it perfectly yet. Nobody has gone anywhere near perfection on the

:29:32. > :29:35.final ten turns. Maybe Julia Mancuso can get in amongst it here. She is

:29:36. > :29:41.getting closer. Within half a second of the lead now. She is loving the

:29:42. > :29:47.snow through this section. She is like on her skis and should be good

:29:48. > :29:52.here. She likes the turns. She has got to get off them quickly and she

:29:53. > :30:06.does just that and carries great speed into the flat. Fighting for

:30:07. > :30:10.ballots. -- balance. She is silver medal position for the moment. She

:30:11. > :30:17.made up a whole chunk of time, skiing the bottom pitch better than

:30:18. > :30:21.just about anybody so far. But it is Fabienne Suter who leaves for

:30:22. > :30:27.Switzerland. What a great one for Julia Mancuso. She let rip for about

:30:28. > :30:32.a third down. Beautiful skiing. Big angles on the ski and she was really

:30:33. > :30:45.smooth. That is the key on this soft snow. You have got to be liked.

:30:46. > :30:52.This is the first of the Germans to go. She could pose a threat to the

:30:53. > :31:01.leaderboard. I think the girls are taking it easy getting through that

:31:02. > :31:05.very tough part. Good start for Viktoria Rebensburg. She is looking

:31:06. > :31:20.for the most aerodynamic position she can get the wind. These are

:31:21. > :31:23.dynamic turns. It is great skiing. Now, approaching the key part of the

:31:24. > :31:29.cause, the solitary jump and then the steep, fast turns where the

:31:30. > :31:36.speed has to be harnessed and controlled. She is dead level with

:31:37. > :31:39.Suter. The green light is on, showing that Viktoria Rebensburg has

:31:40. > :31:46.a good speed at the top. This is where things get sorted out. A

:31:47. > :31:49.little ride and a little late. She has got them sideways and she is

:31:50. > :31:55.having to come from way out of the ideal racing line to recover her

:31:56. > :32:05.balance. I think her chance to lead the Olympic Super-G has possibly

:32:06. > :32:09.slipped away. Just outside the winning time. It is a bronze medal

:32:10. > :32:18.position. Suter leads, Mancuso second. She let it go. She lost it

:32:19. > :32:27.on the solitary jump. She landed too far back. She lands on the back part

:32:28. > :32:33.of the scheme . The front does not grip, so there is nothing happening

:32:34. > :32:39.from the shovel. Frustration for the Germans. And delight in the

:32:40. > :32:44.leader's enclosure, as Suter holds onto first position. There was a

:32:45. > :32:53.long way to go. We have still got some of the big names to come. They

:32:54. > :33:20.will be coming in quick succession. What an extraordinary race so far.

:33:21. > :33:26.Most have the big DNF alongside their name, meaning did not finish.

:33:27. > :33:33.So, this is the true test. Lauren Ross, head in her hands. Did not

:33:34. > :33:39.happen for her. For the next seven racers, the vision at the top will

:33:40. > :33:51.be crucial. The course is running different to how they expected. The

:33:52. > :34:05.next race will know the two sections that everyone is struggling with

:34:06. > :34:15.running tougher than in inspection. There is Tina Maze, already the

:34:16. > :34:18.joint champion in the downhill. Seems like a strange thing to do to

:34:19. > :34:30.put snow down your neck, but when it is as warm as it is, they have got

:34:31. > :34:38.to keep cool and be ready to move. Nicole Hosp is the silver medallist

:34:39. > :34:45.from the super combined. Nice and high through gates one, two and

:34:46. > :34:49.three. She has got all the experience. She has listened to the

:34:50. > :35:00.coaches. She is thinking about this and skiing probably the best line we

:35:01. > :35:04.have seen so far. The speed is good. The ayes to the right a confident

:35:05. > :35:11.start. The top five so far in this season. She loves the Super-G

:35:12. > :35:14.terms. She is now on par, but a little mistake, which is a shame

:35:15. > :35:19.because she was coming to the flat section. You can make a mistake on

:35:20. > :35:30.the steep, but not on the flat. It is very difficult to claw back the

:35:31. > :35:43.time. Nicole Hosp gets the green light. She is so sensitive. This is

:35:44. > :35:50.the tricky part. Got to land quickly on that right ski. Again, a little

:35:51. > :35:57.error. She might have let her lead go. The crowd are watching on the

:35:58. > :36:01.big screen, and then the racers are in view. Has Nicole Hosp done enough

:36:02. > :36:13.to take the lead away from Fabienne Suter? Yes. Suter smiles through the

:36:14. > :36:18.pain as she is demoted to second. Nicole Hosp leads the way. She had

:36:19. > :36:26.us on the edges of our seat. What a great skiing. It was not error free,

:36:27. > :36:32.but she let them run. She will be thanking the Austrian coach for

:36:33. > :36:41.setting a course like that. There is the head of the Austrian ski

:36:42. > :36:50.Federation. He is happy. The ayes to the right a huge advantage. Tina

:36:51. > :37:00.Weirather, from an incredible skiing pedigree. Her mother won Olympic

:37:01. > :37:07.gold in 1980 in Lake Placid in GS and slalom, silver in downhill in

:37:08. > :37:17.the same year. 33 World Cup wins for her mother. Her father has six.

:37:18. > :37:24.Uncle Andy had 14 World Cup wins. Actually, it is not Tina Weirather.

:37:25. > :37:28.It is Anna Fenninger for Austria. No Tina Weirather. We have gone

:37:29. > :37:41.straight from number 16 to number 18. This is Anna Fenninger from

:37:42. > :38:01.Austria, going well. She loves the Super-G. Working the feet under her.

:38:02. > :38:07.Great snow contact. She whacks it hard. Did not seem to lose too much

:38:08. > :38:12.speed, remarkably. But now she is drifting outside of the ideal racing

:38:13. > :38:22.line. Very gentle on the bases of her skis, seems to have kept the

:38:23. > :38:35.speed up. It is Fenninger's lead! Despite a shaky finish, she has done

:38:36. > :38:45.enough to lead the race. So, two Austrians in the lead now. Its As

:38:46. > :38:50.many as are of the opinion, say "aye". To the contrary, "no". Clips

:38:51. > :39:00.that gate. Brilliant bottom section. -- Fenninger clips that gate.

:39:01. > :39:14.It is an Austrian 1-2 at the moment. Suter deferred. Tina Maze is next to

:39:15. > :39:25.go. If anyone can put the cat among the pigeons, it is Maze. Already a

:39:26. > :39:30.gold medallist, shared the downhill title with Dominick is in, one of

:39:31. > :39:38.the iconic images of the game so far -- she shared the title with

:39:39. > :39:44.Dominique Gisin. We had mistakes on the bottom pitch from Anna

:39:45. > :39:47.Fenninger, so there is room for improvement from Tina Maze. She's

:39:48. > :40:06.another one with a soft at almost no. Fenninger was so hopefully this

:40:07. > :40:18.section. Now she comes into the tricky part of the course. That was

:40:19. > :40:22.a perfect landing. Now she is fighting for grip on the bottom part

:40:23. > :40:29.of the course. That might have blown her chance of taking the lead away

:40:30. > :40:33.from Anna Fenninger. Tina Maze, looking for her second gold of the

:40:34. > :40:42.games. The damage has been done, and she is in bronze. Austria first and

:40:43. > :40:48.second, with Fenninger and Hosp, Maze in third. That mistake cost her

:40:49. > :41:06.dearly on the bottom steep. The snow is soft and tricky.

:41:07. > :41:19.Lara Gut is the best Super-G scale of the season so far. That is Maria

:41:20. > :41:25.Hoefl-Riesch. Her turn is coming up. Lara Gut was bronze medallist in the

:41:26. > :41:30.downhill. Feisty start. She has three World Cup Super-G wins to her

:41:31. > :41:37.name so far this season. This course could play into her hands. Beautiful

:41:38. > :41:49.angles at the top. She will not be far from Fenninger's time. She went

:41:50. > :41:58.for it at the top, really throwing her feet out there. She was so

:41:59. > :42:07.disappointed the other day with her bronze. If anyone can do it, it will

:42:08. > :42:11.be heard today. Riding nicely through the forest. Pockets of

:42:12. > :42:20.sunshine and shade. This is solid from Lara Gut. She is closing in on

:42:21. > :42:30.the dog Anna Fenninger. Fenninger had a couple of errors on the final

:42:31. > :42:37.steep bit. Now she is fighting for balance over the skis. Now she is

:42:38. > :42:55.drifting further from the racing line. Lara Gut is third. Fenninger

:42:56. > :43:04.holds on. Hosp in second. She took a very risky line. This was where she

:43:05. > :43:10.put them sideways, and it cost her two tenths of a second. Then she was

:43:11. > :43:13.sensational, but coming into the solitary jump, she went for a risky

:43:14. > :43:25.line, straighter than she could have done. There is our leader, Anna

:43:26. > :43:41.Fenninger. Waiting nervously. Still some very talented skiers to come.

:43:42. > :43:48.Elisabeth Goergl, double world champion in 2011 in

:43:49. > :43:56.Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Let's see what she can produce in the Olympic

:43:57. > :44:05.Super-G. She is on fire. This woman knows only one speed, and it is top

:44:06. > :44:09.speed. She will not hold back. It is those exciting watching her. But

:44:10. > :44:16.sometimes she pushes a bit too hard for the ski, so in the software

:44:17. > :44:27.section, that could -- in the softer section, that could faze her. Look

:44:28. > :44:41.at her attack this gliding section. Not holding back. This is where the

:44:42. > :44:49.course starts to sort them out. Oh, off-balance! Sideways, and out of

:44:50. > :44:52.the course. That was a shame. She came in far too straight. If she

:44:53. > :44:59.could have held on to that, she could have been in the mix for the

:45:00. > :45:05.medals. There was no coming back from that. She should have been

:45:06. > :45:19.about four metres further to the left. Cool too far for -- too far

:45:20. > :45:27.for Elisabeth Goergl to control. Let us get a check on the standings

:45:28. > :45:35.here. No, we are heading back to the top. We will be seeing Maria

:45:36. > :45:42.Hoefl-Riesch next to go for Germany. Already an Olympic gold medallist

:45:43. > :45:48.from these Games. She took the title in the super combined. Maria

:45:49. > :45:55.Hoefl-Riesch 's ready to race the Super-G, 22. Out of the start gate.

:45:56. > :46:01.C how she handles this exceptionally difficult course. -- let us see.

:46:02. > :46:06.Second and third recently in the Super-G. She likes it but I think

:46:07. > :46:11.this course is going to prove a lot will be tight. She does not look so

:46:12. > :46:18.comfortable on the top section. She is a great glider, she likes the

:46:19. > :46:22.faster, more open sections. Coming with a load of confidence and you

:46:23. > :46:33.cannot underestimate the amount a confident skier can do. Way too

:46:34. > :46:41.close. The coursework. That was almost a horrendous moment -- course

:46:42. > :46:46.worker. The coursework was repairing the gate panel as she raced at high

:46:47. > :46:51.speed within three metres of him. She is clocking the fastest speed so

:46:52. > :46:58.far despite the near miss. She is flying down the Olympic Super-G. She

:46:59. > :47:04.looks for Gold medal number two. Out into the soft snow. Her chance of

:47:05. > :47:09.gold has surely just slipped away. Had to put the brakes on. It might

:47:10. > :47:18.have cost her the chance to deny Anna Fenninger the win here. Maria

:47:19. > :47:23.Hoefl-Riesch skis into silver medal position to split the Austrians.

:47:24. > :47:28.Fenninger holds on. Maria Hoefl-Riesch in second. Hosp drops

:47:29. > :47:33.to third. She is celebrating but it could have been gold. And it could

:47:34. > :47:40.have been a disaster with the course worker so close. She skied the top

:47:41. > :47:43.and the bottom with errors, but the middle section was fantastic. She

:47:44. > :47:54.let them run and glide into the perfect line. Look at this. There is

:47:55. > :48:02.already a little track there, but that gate... What was he doing?

:48:03. > :48:12.Played havoc with her mind for a split second. Let us get a check on

:48:13. > :48:22.the standings. Fenninger is leading by half a second to Maria

:48:23. > :48:35.Hoefl-Riesch. Ben Temple -- then Hosp. Chemmy Alcott still to come.

:48:36. > :48:42.She will be starting with bib number 34 in her final Olympic race. Anna

:48:43. > :48:47.Fenninger is the champion in waiting. Maria Hoefl-Riesch thinks

:48:48. > :48:58.she might have claimed another Olympic medal. They gold and

:48:59. > :49:04.potentially a silver so far. It could be Anna Fenninger's first goal

:49:05. > :49:11.today. That was when Lara Gut realised she would not pick up a

:49:12. > :49:16.medal. Standing next Maria Hoefl-Riesch's husband. Joy for one

:49:17. > :49:21.and disappointment for another. Proving to be a very exciting and

:49:22. > :49:27.very difficult Super-G. Probably one of the toughest I have seen. I am

:49:28. > :49:33.not even sure it is over yet. No one has skied it anywhere near

:49:34. > :49:38.perfectly. No. Maria Hoefl-Riesch made big mistakes on the bottom

:49:39. > :49:43.section. What she did well was she put the brakes on, she had to,

:49:44. > :49:47.because she went sideways, but then on the finished section, she tried

:49:48. > :49:57.to let the speed take her to the finish. Ilka Stuhec. She can ski

:49:58. > :50:03.fast Super-G when she puts it together. She has had top five

:50:04. > :50:08.results this season. Plenty of time to analyse what has gone before via

:50:09. > :50:15.the monitor at the top of the course. She took a risky line there.

:50:16. > :50:23.Tried to dive down into the fall line rather than coming higher and

:50:24. > :50:26.finishing the turn-off. She was seven tenths back there. It was

:50:27. > :50:38.costly. Time is slipping away slightly. You can see small ruts

:50:39. > :50:48.forming. Nothing too drastic. It is the bottom section in the direct sun

:50:49. > :50:56.that is proving tricky. She is not .99 off the pace. -- 0.99. She comes

:50:57. > :51:05.into the bottom section, very tricky part. It was there we saw Maria

:51:06. > :51:15.Hoefl-Riesch made a big mistake and again, Ilka Stuhec is a bit wild on

:51:16. > :51:23.the bottom section. Anna Fenninger is the quickest of the race so far.

:51:24. > :51:29.Ilka Stuhec is some way removed, she is 12. No change in the medal

:51:30. > :51:35.positions. Fenninger has the gold, Maria Hoefl-Riesch the silver, Hosp

:51:36. > :51:40.the bronze. There is Maria Hoefl-Riesch with her husband. Great

:51:41. > :51:50.scenes at the finish. What a champion she is. Lotte Smiseth

:51:51. > :51:56.Sejersted for Norway starts with number 24. Had a really good result

:51:57. > :52:04.in the downhill on Wednesday. Posted the sixth fastest time there. She

:52:05. > :52:09.has a good high line. I cannot say it is soft snow she got caught up

:52:10. > :52:22.in, but she certainly got stuck in an awkward start. 88.3km threw the

:52:23. > :52:27.gun. The long traverse that plays havoc with the left leg. A little

:52:28. > :52:32.wide and a bit low and slow on the edge change. It is costing her. She

:52:33. > :52:40.has got a lot of work to do. She is trying to get the arms forward to

:52:41. > :52:46.get back into the top. -- the tap. This was where Anna Fenninger won

:52:47. > :52:49.the race. She stayed in the attack for the flat section. When you are

:52:50. > :52:54.in the top, you limit the movement you have. You cannot move your feet

:52:55. > :53:00.from side to side quickly. That is why you see the girls coming in and

:53:01. > :53:09.out of the cup so much year. -- the top so much here. Carrying a lot

:53:10. > :53:12.less speed. Good line from Lotte Smiseth Sejersted. She is certainly

:53:13. > :53:17.attacking the bottom half of the course. This is fast, aggressive.

:53:18. > :53:21.How close can she get? Can she improve on her downhill result? 13.

:53:22. > :53:45.She was sixth in the downhill. That is a shot from above. I'm

:53:46. > :53:54.trying to decide where it is. Also traverse, I think. Nicole Hosp

:53:55. > :53:59.holding onto bronze medal position. Larisa Yurkiw is next to go. From

:54:00. > :54:04.Canada. She was disappointed the other day in the downhill. Lovely

:54:05. > :54:09.story behind her. Big injury in 2009 was kicked off the Canadian team and

:54:10. > :54:14.has had to fund her programmes. She was insistent she would not give up.

:54:15. > :54:17.She has worked so hard and her goal was to make the Sochi Olympics and

:54:18. > :54:25.here she is on the biggest stage bearers. -- stage there is. She gets

:54:26. > :54:35.a little late on some of these terms. OK so far. Big dynamic

:54:36. > :54:41.turns. More upright than she could be. The flatter section, big

:54:42. > :54:45.sweeping turns. The more streamlined you can be, the better it is on the

:54:46. > :54:58.time. She is losing time all the way down. On the edge check, a little

:54:59. > :55:05.10th slipping away. She is out. She has gone. She is not the first and

:55:06. > :55:09.she will not be the last. We have seen an awful lot of this. Tough

:55:10. > :55:15.bottom section. Sorting out the best from the rest. That is how it should

:55:16. > :55:24.be in the Olympics. Fenninger is talking to her family. I loved the

:55:25. > :55:29.scenes the other day when Dominique Gisin was talking to her mum on the

:55:30. > :55:33.phone, so much emotion. It shows how much they have worked over the last

:55:34. > :55:45.four years. To win at the Olympic Games, it does not get bigger and

:55:46. > :55:55.better than that. Francesca Marsaglia next ago for Italy. She is

:55:56. > :56:00.away. Roared out of the start. Best of the Italians is currently Nadia

:56:01. > :56:07.Fanchini down in ninth at this stage. You kind of get an idea of

:56:08. > :56:11.how steep it is when you watch the scene from the start gate. Big

:56:12. > :57:02.mistakes here. Into the solitary John. Must come

:57:03. > :57:09.from left to right. She too is out. -- the solitary jump. Landing miles

:57:10. > :57:18.from the intended target. Unable to make the next turn. Apologies that

:57:19. > :57:24.we lost commentary for a while there. Hopefully we will be back

:57:25. > :57:29.with you now all the way through to number 34 coming down which will be

:57:30. > :57:34.Chemmy Alcott for Great Britain. Mixed emotions here today. Tina Maze

:57:35. > :57:39.soaking up the sun at the bottom of the course, unable to get in amongst

:57:40. > :57:43.the medals. She is fifth at the moment. And there is the leader,

:57:44. > :57:53.Anna Fenninger of Austria. Next to go, Ranhild Mowinkel from Norway,

:57:54. > :58:01.the rising star of the Norwegian team. Sixth in the super combined.

:58:02. > :58:09.Bouncing sideways, not quite the ideal start. A little bit hard on

:58:10. > :58:14.her edges. Get the legs working now as she comes across the flat. It

:58:15. > :58:25.shows. That is a hefty chunk to lose in 22 seconds, 1.04. The little

:58:26. > :58:29.mistakes are so costly. Already a second down, now it is getting on

:58:30. > :58:36.for two seconds. She is pushing too hard. We often talk about that. It

:58:37. > :58:40.is difficult, as a ski racer. You have got to be aggressive but you

:58:41. > :58:45.cannot push hard through the ski. If you do, especially on hard snow, it

:58:46. > :58:49.pushes you sideways and you get bounced around. Then you come onto

:58:50. > :58:56.the soft flat section, the ski digs in if you push too hard. Not the

:58:57. > :59:02.ideal run so far from Ranhild Mowinkel. You can see she is hardly

:59:03. > :59:06.taking off. The girls with more speed, they take off and they have

:59:07. > :59:17.got a much tougher job. She stays online and it is going to be safe

:59:18. > :59:21.into the finish. Anna Fenninger's timers looking rock solid in gold

:59:22. > :59:25.medal position at the moment. Ranhild Mowinkel is one of the

:59:26. > :59:33.slowest of the finishers, more than three seconds behind. We see Ranhild

:59:34. > :59:38.Mowinkel's seat here as she gets bounced around. There is nothing she

:59:39. > :59:51.can do. -- feet. It is just sideways for her.

:59:52. > :00:04.Marusa Ferk for Slovenia, 10th in the super combined. Really high

:00:05. > :00:11.line. Maybe just going for slightly too high a line. We saw Anna

:00:12. > :00:17.Fenninger high but she let them run. Marusa Ferk holding onto the turn to

:00:18. > :00:23.much will stop they have to ski safely. They have to ski it with

:00:24. > :00:26.their head. They have got to think about it. They do not hold back, but

:00:27. > :00:42.they have to think about the line they ski. On the cable camera,

:00:43. > :00:45.winding down the mountain above the racer, gives you a good impression

:00:46. > :00:54.of the speed at which they travel across the snow. 99.9 kilometres per

:00:55. > :01:04.hour. That is what Marusa Ferk has clocked. A little low on that jump.

:01:05. > :01:22.She is getting later and later in the line, but controlling the speed.

:01:23. > :01:34.Really quick off the edges. Marusa Ferk is into 14th position. Tears

:01:35. > :01:39.for some, joy for others. That was Elisabeth Goergl in the finish. You

:01:40. > :01:44.can see how much it means. It is devastating. She had such a good top

:01:45. > :01:52.section. That will be her last Olympic race as well, I imagine, at

:01:53. > :02:00.the age of 32. Stacey Cook, getting words of encouragement from the

:02:01. > :02:06.Americans. She is from California. The crowds are going wild down

:02:07. > :02:11.here, but it was short lived. She flattened that control gate, to add

:02:12. > :02:19.insult to injury. She was already on her face, and then there was fairly

:02:20. > :02:27.unforgiving control gate is arrived to add to the bruising. We have seen

:02:28. > :02:31.a lot of that, putting out on these super-hard, super icy conditions. It

:02:32. > :02:37.is a fine line between getting the angles and being on your hip or your

:02:38. > :02:43.side, as she is. She is OK, but there will be a slight delay now

:02:44. > :02:47.while the control gate is repaired. It is nasty when you click a gate

:02:48. > :02:52.going at that speed. There is no slowing down here. The gates are

:02:53. > :03:03.drilled into the snow and they are in solid ice, so it does not move

:03:04. > :03:06.when you hit it. Fraenzi Aufdenblatten will have to hold for

:03:07. > :03:12.a few seconds until the course is ready. She is from Switzerland. She

:03:13. > :03:21.will have to refocus now for an extra minute that she did not expect

:03:22. > :03:25.to have. She can relax for a minute and then get back to the focus.

:03:26. > :03:32.Nicole Hosp, coming back to the leaders' box to join team-mate Anna

:03:33. > :03:36.Fenninger and Maria Hoefl-Riesch. The gold, silver and bronze

:03:37. > :03:55.medallists, two Austrians and a German. That is how it stands at the

:03:56. > :03:59.moment. She has been a World Cup winner in Super-G in the past, but

:04:00. > :04:02.not for a few years, battling back from injury. She has had plenty of

:04:03. > :04:10.time to think about this waste this morning. Not as committed as she

:04:11. > :04:21.could have been up there, but still in touch. The course is holding up

:04:22. > :04:26.really well. I was not sure whether it would, but it is. That was a big

:04:27. > :04:40.mistake to have made before the flat. And another late one. She was

:04:41. > :04:54.well off the ideal line. I love this shot from the top. You get such a

:04:55. > :05:00.great view. The top six are separated by 1.37 seconds, so there

:05:01. > :05:07.is room for one of the late starters to come through and make an impact.

:05:08. > :05:16.I am not sure a medal is possible, but let's see. Chemmy Alcott is

:05:17. > :05:25.still to come, with bid number 34. It was a top six here for Fraenzi

:05:26. > :05:32.Aufdenblatten, an excellent run for such a late start number. It was a

:05:33. > :05:40.messy run and she was off-line many times, but she carried the speed.

:05:41. > :06:30.She will be delighted by skiing into six position.

:06:31. > :06:36.This is the comparison of first and second. You can see Maria

:06:37. > :06:42.Hoefl-Riesch with the stripes on her legs, right of screen. And Fenninger

:06:43. > :06:49.of Austria in the blue and white. Fenninger really got ahead of

:06:50. > :06:57.Hoefl-Riesch in this top section. She was a bit quicker and more

:06:58. > :07:02.dynamic. Straight into the tuck. This was where I thought Fenninger

:07:03. > :07:11.won. She stayed so low all the way down that flat section, almost

:07:12. > :07:19.refusing to come out of the tuck. Chemicals are being put on the

:07:20. > :07:24.course. It is starting to suffer under the baking sun now. It is

:07:25. > :07:34.holding up better than I thought it would. Hopefully, Chemmy Alcott will

:07:35. > :07:38.no that Fraenzi Aufdenblatten has skied into six position. That will

:07:39. > :07:56.give her confidence that the course is holding up well. Marie-Pier

:07:57. > :08:10.Prefontaine is looking for a nice, high line. A little mistake. That

:08:11. > :08:48.will have been costly. In the shade, it is difficult for

:08:49. > :08:54.the eyes to adjust. Prefontaine no so she has a tough part of the

:08:55. > :09:05.course coming up. Just to remind you, we have got the Russian next.

:09:06. > :09:11.And then the Klara Krizova and then Chemmy Alcott, racing in her final

:09:12. > :09:15.Olympic competition, started in bib 34 this morning at Rosa Khutor.

:09:16. > :09:22.Marie-Pier Prefontaine will be happy to finish, as so many have failed to

:09:23. > :09:37.do today. She places 18th place for the moment. She also went for a

:09:38. > :09:54.risky line coming into that jump. She had to make a fuel quick

:09:55. > :10:00.recoveries. The Russian crowd are going crazy for Elena Yakovishina,

:10:01. > :10:05.which is great. She will not hear them from this point, but as she

:10:06. > :10:09.comes into the jump, she will certainly hear them and push harder.

:10:10. > :10:25.It will be a great feeling to this youngster to race on home soil.

:10:26. > :10:30.There is nothing better. Yakovishina, fighting for all she's

:10:31. > :10:41.worth to stay online and clock a finish. She skis into 19th position

:10:42. > :10:45.for Russia. That is a good performance. She did well to hang in

:10:46. > :10:55.there, because she ran a risky line. When she landed, she was so

:10:56. > :10:59.close to that gate. Anna Fenninger is starting to talk to the media to

:11:00. > :11:19.discuss her Olympic gold. It could well be coming her way. Klara

:11:20. > :11:32.Krizova is taking its deadly at the top. That is the tricky part with

:11:33. > :11:36.Super-G. These gates come at you so quickly. There is no room for

:11:37. > :12:02.error. You have to be on the ball the whole way down. Chemmy Alcott is

:12:03. > :12:18.next to go for Great Britain. Krizova takes her bowel. -- barrel.

:12:19. > :12:28.Most number 34. Chemmy Alcott, from Great Britain, already 19th from the

:12:29. > :12:38.Olympic downhill. This is her final race, the Super-G. The top six are

:12:39. > :12:41.now separated by 1.27 seconds. Chemmy would love to finish with a

:12:42. > :12:49.top ten to round off her Olympic career to date the 11th she posted.

:12:50. > :12:54.Oh, Chemmy! It was so promising at the top. She was on fire, and she

:12:55. > :13:02.has had to fight to make it back. That was such a shame. She was in

:13:03. > :13:11.with a great shout. Her fourth Olympic winter games, her final

:13:12. > :13:20.race, and she is 20th. A couple of mistakes in the Super-G. But

:13:21. > :13:25.remarkable, following all the injuries and major crashes she has

:13:26. > :13:32.suffered. -- that she is here at all. Portal!

:13:33. > :13:37.-- and brutal. HAZEL IRVINE: we will leave it

:13:38. > :13:42.there, but it looks like a top 20 finish for Chemmy Alcott. If it is,

:13:43. > :13:46.that would be her eighth in four Olympic games. Congratulations to

:13:47. > :13:51.her and to Anna Fenninger of Austria. Looks like it will be a

:13:52. > :13:56.third gold in women's Super-G in a row for Austria. A remarkable run

:13:57. > :14:04.from Maria Hoefl-Riesch. I have seen nothing like that since Ski Sunday

:14:05. > :14:08.days in 2007, in the men's downhill in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. It is a

:14:09. > :14:12.frightening experience for any race on the course, and to have the

:14:13. > :14:18.composure to stay on her feet and ski to server is sensational. But I

:14:19. > :14:22.am sure there will be repercussions about that cause worker being so

:14:23. > :14:27.close to the gate halfway down the Super-G course. A very eventful and

:14:28. > :14:31.dramatic women's Super-G. Let's take a breather. Mind you, taking a

:14:32. > :14:35.breather and going to ice hockey are not the same thing. They reckon

:14:36. > :14:38.there were 100,000 people in the Olympic Park on Tuesday, and the

:14:39. > :14:43.main reason for that was the first appearance of the Russian men's ice

:14:44. > :14:48.hockey team. That is the gold that all of Russia wants more than

:14:49. > :14:54.anything else. We will be going at 12:35pm your time to see the

:14:55. > :14:58.grandstand match of the lot in the early stages, United States against

:14:59. > :15:01.Russia. With all of that historical baggage. You can see them piling

:15:02. > :15:08.into the Bolshoi Dome ahead of that already. But there was one match

:15:09. > :15:13.going on already in group A, the Slovenians against the Slovaks. It

:15:14. > :15:18.is Slovenia's debut in the Olympic games. Their men's team have not

:15:19. > :15:23.played in this before. They have won current NHL player in their team and

:15:24. > :15:26.his dad is the team coach. Slovakia are the surprise semifinalists in

:15:27. > :15:39.Vancouver this dog both sides lost their opening matches. The first

:15:40. > :15:43.period is under way now. Brent Pope and Seth Bennett are in charge once

:15:44. > :15:49.again. Thank you. You have not missed a

:15:50. > :15:56.great deal here. Just seven and a half minutes gone of the first

:15:57. > :16:02.period. It is 0-0. Both teams are looking to bounce back after first

:16:03. > :16:09.game defeats. The Slovakians will expect more of themselves. Their

:16:10. > :16:13.defeat by the USA equalled their worst ever result. The Slovenians

:16:14. > :16:24.are well drilled through their coach and they have a superstar. He could

:16:25. > :16:28.turn any game in this tournament. They wear the blue and the

:16:29. > :16:34.lime-green. We will see an awful lot of white, blue and red between the

:16:35. > :16:40.Russians, the Americans and the Slovakians. Slovenia go from right

:16:41. > :16:49.to left on the screen. A penalty coming for the stick lift. He will

:16:50. > :16:57.get the penalty and a powerplay coming the way of the plucky

:16:58. > :17:00.Slovenians. Just nips in behind to create this offensive opportunity

:17:01. > :17:07.for the Slovenians. Now you see the blue Angels make their way onto the

:17:08. > :17:22.ice and they will clean up and mock-up. The Slovakian defender sits

:17:23. > :17:26.down. -- they will mop up. It was a great little bit of service and

:17:27. > :17:39.there would have been room to beat him in the Slovakian goal. He will

:17:40. > :17:43.sit down for two minutes or less. The Slovenians scored two against

:17:44. > :17:48.the Russians, the host, obviously. That was an energetic match,

:17:49. > :17:54.particularly with the superstars on the show from the big red Army. Big

:17:55. > :17:58.chance for the Slovenians to open up their account. Lots of Slovakian

:17:59. > :18:08.support in the stand with those T-shirts, we are one team. The face

:18:09. > :18:35.off against the big frame. The captain has a huge presence on

:18:36. > :18:43.the ice. Offside rule is simple. The puck has to cross the blue line

:18:44. > :18:53.before any attacking player. If you go in first, you can find yourself

:18:54. > :18:57.caught offside. Five on four. That is the advantage they have over the

:18:58. > :19:08.course of the next 90 seconds. It is a slow build up in their own zone.

:19:09. > :19:17.Maybe now they will get a chance. Good move to move into the offensive

:19:18. > :19:28.zone. He loses a glove as well. The one gloved player.

:19:29. > :19:39.Trying to find a shooting opportunity. The one hand will feel

:19:40. > :19:51.exposed. The options are limited. Backhand

:19:52. > :20:03.shot through the crease. The rebound came out and it was saved. He was

:20:04. > :20:09.unable great place. Able to get across and take the near side as the

:20:10. > :20:16.big Slovakian defender almost serves a bit of a screen on that play. He

:20:17. > :20:22.is six foot nine. Tallest ever ice hockey player in the National Hockey

:20:23. > :20:30.League. One of the toughest too. If you want to have a fight, what do

:20:31. > :20:36.you do? He is a massive man. Not held in at the puck just crosses and

:20:37. > :20:47.that is why the whistle blows. The powerplay coming towards a close.

:20:48. > :20:53.You talk about the power of him, he represented Slovakia for Greco-Roman

:20:54. > :21:00.wrestling. He was always training his son TV strong and fit. I am not

:21:01. > :21:03.sure he expected him to grow to be the biggest ever ice hockey player,

:21:04. > :21:09.but he is powerful and also very powerful. Good win in the offensive

:21:10. > :21:20.zone. Tries to create something short-handed. He will play the puck.

:21:21. > :21:25.There is a problem on the ice here. The Florida panther remains on the

:21:26. > :21:33.ice. He is trying to make his way. He is in real pain there. That will

:21:34. > :21:41.be a big blow to the Slovakian team who have already lost a player in

:21:42. > :21:46.this tournament. He suffered a knee ligament damage and he is out of the

:21:47. > :21:52.tournament. This is really tough on the body because you play so much

:21:53. > :21:54.and you play very close matches, one after another. It is three in

:21:55. > :22:00.four-day is in the opening group stage. I think he went off mildly

:22:01. > :22:07.concussed. He struggled and fell to his knees. We will see how much we

:22:08. > :22:20.see of him. Now the captain cannot create anything. Those back the

:22:21. > :22:31.other way. Quick shot deflects well wide of the target. The Slovenians

:22:32. > :22:35.have given a great account of themselves in this tournament. They

:22:36. > :22:42.only have seven ice rinks in the whole of the country, a country of

:22:43. > :22:47.just less than 2 million. And under 200 registered adult players.

:22:48. > :22:57.Absolutely frightening. You can do the maths yourselves. The shotguns

:22:58. > :23:05.and. That is held on to -- the shot comes in. This is the play that

:23:06. > :23:07.leads to him being injured. It is a Slovenians some which.

:23:08. > :23:17.Unfortunately, he was the meet in the middle. He will go off, you can

:23:18. > :23:20.see him struggle. He is not... I am not sure where he is. He makes his

:23:21. > :23:25.way to the bench under his own power. Must be a horrible feeling

:23:26. > :23:32.when the legs just go. They will have to restructure their units, the

:23:33. > :23:42.Slovakians. Fascinating contest, this one. Between two signs who have

:23:43. > :23:46.not met that often. The Slovenians have never beaten these wacky and is

:23:47. > :24:15.-- never beaten the Slovakians. That will help us now the Slovenians

:24:16. > :24:18.send it deep into the zone. Just to put it in context, the Savini ends

:24:19. > :24:30.our 17th in the world. They qualified for the Olympic Games. --

:24:31. > :24:34.the Slovenians are 17th in the world. They have accelerated their

:24:35. > :24:41.programme and taken it to the next level and here they are. They were

:24:42. > :24:50.trying to full is at home. The rebound pops out again. In the end,

:24:51. > :24:57.the keeper was equal to it -- they were trying to force it home. The

:24:58. > :25:02.Slovakians were deemed a little bit too rough as they chased down the

:25:03. > :25:09.puck. They were good money, the Slovenians, against the Russians. As

:25:10. > :25:18.you watch this play again... I think it is head on head and it is a

:25:19. > :25:29.domino effect. You come in against it with that sort of speed, he does

:25:30. > :25:39.not know if here's here, there or anywhere. Not what you want to see,

:25:40. > :25:42.but it highlights how big these contacts are. You think they have

:25:43. > :25:47.loads of padding on, it does not hurt. Far from it. He is a big

:25:48. > :25:55.enough guide to leave you feeling a little rough after you have felt the

:25:56. > :25:59.contact. He is six foot three. The equipment designed to protect you is

:26:00. > :26:04.just as hard and capable of hurting you, particularly if it comes in in

:26:05. > :26:08.the vulnerable area and you get it to the side of your head where you

:26:09. > :26:17.are not entirely protected. The hard plastic coming in with forces like

:26:18. > :26:31.running into something. He gives position -- possession away.

:26:32. > :26:48.He is trying to create something. A nice pass. Marincin jumps in deep.

:26:49. > :26:52.Not too much help from the forward. He can clear again. The Slovenians

:26:53. > :27:12.are sniffing an opportunity here. Slovenia could get a result in this

:27:13. > :27:16.game. There is no doubt about that. Victory would be massive for their

:27:17. > :27:33.whole ice hockey Federation. I think they are warming to the task.

:27:34. > :27:42.They will chase after that but it will go all the way round. Good

:27:43. > :27:48.skater. Exchanges passes. Back to the blue line it goes. Shot all the

:27:49. > :27:59.way through traffic and easily played. His lateral movement follows

:28:00. > :28:07.the blue line across towards the middle of the ice, and there is the

:28:08. > :28:12.keeper, six says so far. He was there for the Russian match,

:28:13. > :28:17.conceded five. But that is not bad going against the superpower that is

:28:18. > :28:22.the host. This really is the order. I think everyone is looking forward

:28:23. > :28:28.to them bringing it into the offensive zone. Russia versus the

:28:29. > :28:42.USA, thoughts of 1980 and miracle online. -- miracle on ice.

:28:43. > :28:52.They have not moved the puck too well. That was well saved in the

:28:53. > :28:55.end. Anywhere will do for the Slovakians. They are struggling in

:28:56. > :29:12.this first period to get anything going. Anze Kopitar misses by quite

:29:13. > :29:18.some distance. We will get another faceoff. The Slovakians are missing

:29:19. > :29:27.another player as well. And offensive superpower. Unfortunately,

:29:28. > :29:30.he is injured. He was a part of the 25 man squad but had to accept he

:29:31. > :29:36.was not going to be healthy, suffering a collarbone injury in

:29:37. > :29:44.December, just ahead of Christmas. He scored three goals in the Super

:29:45. > :29:48.League and he would have no doubt help the Slovakians to get going as

:29:49. > :29:58.they are spluttering at the moment. Up and under sent away. His stick

:29:59. > :30:02.has broken into. Explain what these sticks are made. They are of

:30:03. > :30:09.composite material. Sometimes cavil. To put it into context... Shooting

:30:10. > :30:18.opportunity as it goes well wide of the target -- kevlar. I am not sure

:30:19. > :30:31.they are any more durable than they were.

:30:32. > :30:35.Road blocked by Kopitar. Now Kopitar will bring it forward for the

:30:36. > :31:20.Slovenians. Another good save from Kristan.

:31:21. > :31:36.Quick reaction all the way through. Kristan will hang on a bit. Now we

:31:37. > :31:42.get a bit of pushing and shoving. The face wash is generally seen in

:31:43. > :31:55.international way as the best way to show disrespect, to get your glove

:31:56. > :32:02.up in the opponent's face. They kind of hurt the day afterwards, when you

:32:03. > :32:07.have an ablation across your face, and the salt gets into it, and it

:32:08. > :32:12.starts to sting. Not many things staying more than ice hockey gloves,

:32:13. > :32:17.for whatever reason. It is fairly unpleasant. They never get a chance

:32:18. > :32:36.to properly dry, as they are constantly in use -- they stink.

:32:37. > :32:50.The ayes to the right a big battle on the boards here. Another penalty

:32:51. > :32:57.coming. He does not know what he has done wrong. But I think it was an

:32:58. > :33:00.obvious one for the referee. I think he does know what he has done wrong,

:33:01. > :33:10.he is just wishing he had not done it. Just to follow up about sticks,

:33:11. > :33:16.they are made of a composite resin. They are about ?152 in value each

:33:17. > :33:20.and they break consistently, so an expensive piece of kit, for sure.

:33:21. > :33:38.Can the Slovenians finish with a goal before the end of the period?

:33:39. > :33:52.There was a sniff of a chance. For a moment, it was just sat there,

:33:53. > :33:57.waiting to be picked up on the right-hand side. We saw a

:33:58. > :34:03.heartbreaker yesterday. The Swedes ended up winning the game in a 1-0

:34:04. > :34:08.scoreline against the Swiss, and it was an outstanding game by one of

:34:09. > :34:20.their players, but he for one moment just lapsed in concentration.

:34:21. > :34:25.Similar sort of play there. Kopitar takes the face-off, and Slovakia,

:34:26. > :34:29.where with it. They are happy to send it down the ice. They are just

:34:30. > :34:52.trying to kill tiny here, as they skate with one player fewer.

:34:53. > :34:57.They are trying to force an opportunity. The Slovakians are

:34:58. > :35:23.stretched. Kopitar swings away. Then they go gadget arm of Chara

:35:24. > :35:24.comes out and knocks it. The crowd are getting behind the Slovenian

:35:25. > :35:43.team. Very close, but no goals in the

:35:44. > :35:52.first 20 minutes here, as Slovakia and Slovenia remained tied at 0-0.

:35:53. > :35:58.HAZEL IRVINE: that continues on the red button live after their break.

:35:59. > :36:04.The second period will be coming up shortly. Many of the Russian crowds

:36:05. > :36:07.that are piling into the Olympic Park this morning see this as an

:36:08. > :36:11.appetiser for the main event. There they are, having their pictures

:36:12. > :36:15.taken with the Olympic rings. Thousands are streaming into the

:36:16. > :36:18.park this morning. It is an appetiser for Russia against the

:36:19. > :36:23.United States in the men's ice hockey. That will face-off at

:36:24. > :36:28.12:35pm, your time, this afternoon. The whole of Russia and much of

:36:29. > :36:32.America can hardly wait for that. It will bring back all kinds of memory

:36:33. > :36:36.is of great matches in the past two in them and a lot of historical

:36:37. > :36:41.baggage to boot. Great Britain's women were up early today to play

:36:42. > :36:56.South Korea in the curling. We were on air at 5am, your time, to see it.

:36:57. > :37:01.And we have news. Jackie Lockhart and Steve Cram can describe it for

:37:02. > :37:08.us now. Still every opportunity, but they

:37:09. > :37:13.have got to play a good end here. Korea have done well to drag

:37:14. > :37:16.themselves back into this. There were a couple of mistakes from Eve

:37:17. > :37:22.Muirhead. She has to make sure she bends these shots. She was trailing

:37:23. > :37:32.one down, but she does have the hammer. If you were to ask the

:37:33. > :37:41.teams, would you prefer to be one down with the hammer against other

:37:42. > :37:52.scenarios, they have the opportunity here. Just have to keep their head.

:37:53. > :37:59.Bill Phil of them have slipped off a bit recently. -- or four of them

:38:00. > :38:13.have slipped. They have dropped down to 75% from the position when they

:38:14. > :38:51.were shooting in the 80s earlier. First guard put up.

:38:52. > :39:06.Just tucks that one in. We always know it comes down to the last

:39:07. > :39:09.couple of stones. It is inevitable. Whatever the result here, even if

:39:10. > :39:13.Great Britain come away with the win, they might look back on this

:39:14. > :39:19.game and know they have not played as well as the last couple of

:39:20. > :39:24.matches. Sometimes, if you are not playing well, you have still got to

:39:25. > :39:31.stick in there. There is every chance of winning this, despite not

:39:32. > :39:38.playing well. There have just been a couple of slack shots from Eve. That

:39:39. > :39:42.is the most difficult, when the skip does not have a good shot. There is

:39:43. > :39:55.nobody else to help you out of that sticky situation. This game is still

:39:56. > :40:03.all in their hands. Korea are going to remove this corner guard. I think

:40:04. > :40:06.that is the one she has got to go for. Don't panic and take the ones

:40:07. > :40:37.in the house. Just caught it. Not the best shot.

:40:38. > :40:50.She would have preferred to have caught that more across the face of

:40:51. > :40:55.these other shots. So, Vicki Adams is going to try and protect that

:40:56. > :41:02.read that are Great Britain girls have.

:41:03. > :41:22.We are OK! Don't panic, girls! Headshot. -- headshot. Good to hear

:41:23. > :41:33.Anna Sloan telling her, we are OK. To get answers from your team to

:41:34. > :41:41.ease the tension. Confirmation that you are throwing it OK, believe in

:41:42. > :42:03.yourself. This needs to turn as well.

:42:04. > :42:10.Once Korea chose to take this, you can see the disappointment on her

:42:11. > :42:14.face. She had to corner freeze that. If she was not going to make that

:42:15. > :42:22.shot, they should have taken the corner guard off. That is our only

:42:23. > :42:32.opportunity to try and score a two, unless somebody misses everything.

:42:33. > :43:00.That one is hanging on. Excellent for us. It is building now. Four

:43:01. > :43:23.stones for each team. This looks like a really big line. It is on the

:43:24. > :43:27.wrong side. That is two almost identical stones played by Korea.

:43:28. > :43:39.Once more, giving Great Britain another chance to hit and rollover.

:43:40. > :43:55.It has been a bit of an up-and-down morning for Anna Sloan.

:43:56. > :44:08.They swept that well. That was a bit tight. She would have preferred to

:44:09. > :44:14.have got a bit more of a space between them. But she has done the

:44:15. > :44:26.first job in hand, which was to get the Yellowstone removed.

:44:27. > :44:54.They are making it hard for us to remove that yellow, but we are going

:44:55. > :45:00.to try and corner freeze it again. And needs to help her skip out here.

:45:01. > :45:15.This has got to be a good shot. Eve Muirhead needs to win this match.

:45:16. > :45:22.This has got to be spot on. We can't bump. Eve Muirhead says, we can't

:45:23. > :45:31.bump. It has got a bit of weight here. Needs to stop right there.

:45:32. > :45:40.That is a good shot. That is a nice shot. Just give Eve the chance, that

:45:41. > :45:51.is the main thing. Give her the chance and it is up to her than. --

:45:52. > :45:59.then. The Korean skip who really struggled early on, Kim Ji-sun, has

:46:00. > :46:20.been doing better. She will hope to hit this and push the red. But

:46:21. > :46:26.again, she has to execute the shot. If she is high at all, she will jam

:46:27. > :46:45.the red. It does look high. Definitely looking high.

:46:46. > :46:58.Eve just needs a good execution here. Of course, Kim Ji-sun, given

:46:59. > :47:10.the way she has been playing, Eve wants to hit and roll. They would be

:47:11. > :47:16.lying two. I think she would like to fit and roll away from the centre so

:47:17. > :47:26.there is no protection there for Korea to use. -- hit and roll. She

:47:27. > :47:38.does have a little bit of insurance of the stone behind if she sits in

:47:39. > :47:47.front of that. Hard! Hard! This needs to be good. It needs to fit

:47:48. > :47:55.that across. It is not bad. -- it needs to hit that. It all comes down

:47:56. > :48:03.to this, as ever. One stone left for each team. Written needing the two

:48:04. > :48:07.for the win. One would tie it up and we would have an extra end and Korea

:48:08. > :48:11.would have the hammer in the extra end. -- written needing the two for

:48:12. > :48:26.the win. She is looking at trying to catch

:48:27. > :48:34.half of that red and then roll across onto the face of the other

:48:35. > :48:47.red. If she does not catch it right and rolls across onto the face of

:48:48. > :48:53.that red... Eve would have a free draw for a two and win the game.

:48:54. > :49:02.Absolutely. Bigshot here for Kim Ji-sun. -- big shot. She has been

:49:03. > :49:09.better in the last two or three ends. She is playing the draw here.

:49:10. > :49:25.I thought that was what she had called originally.

:49:26. > :49:35.As you can see, I don't need to tell you, that is a match-winning

:49:36. > :49:46.opportunity for Eve Muirhead. She just needs to come in, tap the

:49:47. > :49:55.Korean stone back and light two. -- lie two. She needed to be hired

:49:56. > :49:57.their -- higher there. Bread-and-butter shot for Eve

:49:58. > :50:07.Muirhead. Yes, it is to win the match. We need to throw the light

:50:08. > :50:13.line and the right weight. The final stone, we hope, of this match. If

:50:14. > :50:19.Eve judges this right, it will be another win. Korea sitting with a

:50:20. > :50:23.shot in place and Eve Muirhead just needs to make sure they sweep it

:50:24. > :50:28.past the yellow stone at the front. It is pulling across. A nice little

:50:29. > :50:34.tap back. Well played by Eve Muirhead. Once again, the British

:50:35. > :50:38.skip comes good when she needs to and once again it is another

:50:39. > :50:45.victory. Three in a row for GB's women. Just a little jittery moment

:50:46. > :50:51.in the ninth but they came out on top again. That will give them an

:50:52. > :50:55.awful lot of confidence as they go away for a few hours. They will be

:50:56. > :51:00.back again for the evening session here and could put themselves in a

:51:01. > :51:06.fabulous position if they beat Switzerland tonight. So far, so

:51:07. > :51:10.good. A win over Korea and they have got four wins from their first six

:51:11. > :51:16.matches. That must be a bit of a relief in the end, after the steal

:51:17. > :51:24.of two in the ninth? Yes, it was not ideal. But they came back strong.

:51:25. > :51:27.They like machines, the Koreans. They are fighting for their lives so

:51:28. > :51:34.it is good to get one up on them. The last end was good. Close to

:51:35. > :51:37.100%. That is what we need to do. If we can play well under that

:51:38. > :51:41.pressure, it will put a good marker down for the rest of our games. That

:51:42. > :51:45.has been a feature of the last three matches. When you have got to that

:51:46. > :51:49.stage where the opportunity has presented itself, you have taken it.

:51:50. > :51:56.That is the skip's job, to perform under pressure. And the same for

:51:57. > :52:02.mind team. -- my team. They played great and left me a shot full two in

:52:03. > :52:06.the match. Really happy. We have just got to sharpen up on a few bits

:52:07. > :52:15.and bobs for this afternoon. Early games are never easy. We came out

:52:16. > :52:19.shot. Three in a row. The night is a competitor you know very well. They

:52:20. > :52:26.have had a difficult time and have lost three in a row. A good time to

:52:27. > :52:30.play them? For sure. They are not on the way up. If anything, they are

:52:31. > :52:34.slowly dropping off. If we can get a good winter night, it will put them

:52:35. > :52:40.down fighting. It is going to be tough -- a good win tonight. But it

:52:41. > :52:45.will be tough. We have got to come out shot and sharper in the second

:52:46. > :52:50.half than in the last game. If we can pull together and play the way

:52:51. > :53:00.we can, we will definitely put up a good fight. Well done. HAZEL IRVINE:

:53:01. > :53:04.The Great Britain team will be playing Switzerland at about 3pm

:53:05. > :53:17.your time. That is the table right now. GB are joint second with

:53:18. > :53:20.Sweden. I can tell you that we are very much looking forward to

:53:21. > :53:26.welcoming Great Britain's 10th Winter Olympic champion Lizzie

:53:27. > :53:31.Yarnold into the studio in around ten minutes time. She will be

:53:32. > :53:35.popping in. She has a busy schedule of interviews. There has been so

:53:36. > :53:36.much reaction. We are looking forward to talking to her. Until we
