:00:21. > :00:29.Cori, It is a huge week for Welsh football. Chris Coleman's side about

:00:30. > :00:34.to kick off at 2016 and Wales women hoping to keep their European dream

:00:35. > :00:39.alive. They have never made it to the finals of a major tournament and

:00:40. > :00:46.they must beat Norway to stand a chance of getting to Euro 2017. But

:00:47. > :00:50.Norway are the former world champions, unbeaten in their

:00:51. > :00:56.qualifiers and 4-0 winners over Wales earlier on in the campaign.

:00:57. > :01:03.Yes, it is a crucial game for the hosts. It is Wales against Norway

:01:04. > :01:11.and it is live here on Match of the Day Wales. A very good afternoon and

:01:12. > :01:20.welcome to Newport. You wait ages for one big European game and then

:01:21. > :01:28.they're every where. With me is Sheryl Foster. What an exciting

:01:29. > :01:33.week, Wales against Slovakia and Wales against Norway. It is a

:01:34. > :01:37.massive week for Welsh football. But this is a must win game. We know

:01:38. > :01:43.that, because there was a crucial game last night. If we look at how

:01:44. > :01:49.things stand in the qualification group, this is grouch 8. -- Group 8.

:01:50. > :01:56.The eight champions go through and the six best runners up.

:01:57. > :02:02.So Wales have to finish second in the group to stand any chance of

:02:03. > :02:07.going through. A draw could be enough. But the gold difference

:02:08. > :02:13.compared to Norway is so inferior that we know that nothing really but

:02:14. > :02:17.a win would do. It has to be three points, specially after the result

:02:18. > :02:21.the other night. The girls know they have got to get the points and

:02:22. > :02:28.they're up for. Here is the woman who hopes to lead her side to

:02:29. > :02:36.victory, the Wales manager, Jayne Ludlow. Crucial match tonight. How

:02:37. > :02:39.is everyone feeling? The girls are looking forward to the game,

:02:40. > :02:46.alongside the staff and we can't wait for it to start. How do you

:02:47. > :02:51.assess the Norwegian challenge? It will be enough, they're ranked 11

:02:52. > :02:55.and have been previous world and European champions and come with

:02:56. > :02:59.very much huge amounts of experience at international level. For us it is

:03:00. > :03:04.going to be a big challenge. But one we can rise to. The game out in

:03:05. > :03:09.Norway, tough result for you? Yes, tough result, but early on in the

:03:10. > :03:14.campaign. Now as a squad the environment's different. The squad's

:03:15. > :03:18.a bit different and the team that performs tonight will be very

:03:19. > :03:27.different to what we had on the night in Norway. Thank you. A very

:03:28. > :03:32.focussed and determined Jayne Ludlow. There is a bit of hush

:03:33. > :03:38.descending. The teams will be out soon. But Jayne Ludlow has one of

:03:39. > :03:44.her big stars back, Jess Fishlock, returning from injury in the nick of

:03:45. > :03:51.time? ? Yes it is important she is back. She is so experienced and that

:03:52. > :03:56.is what she will bring. Also a big day for Natasha Harding with her

:03:57. > :04:01.50th cap. Yes it is a proud moment for her and Herr family -- her

:04:02. > :04:06.family and herself. You know Jane very well. How much pressure if that

:04:07. > :04:10.is the right word, do you think she was under to deliver success? Jane

:04:11. > :04:15.thrives under pressure. Although she might be feeling it, you won't tell.

:04:16. > :04:19.As a player she was determined to achieve the best and she will do

:04:20. > :04:24.that for the girls. I know the girls have been prepared well for this

:04:25. > :04:28.game. Jane's not let anything go. So she is really focussed for the game.

:04:29. > :04:33.They have said how inspired they are by what the men have done in getting

:04:34. > :04:37.to their first tournament in nearly 60 years, the Wales women side have

:04:38. > :04:41.never been to a major finals. What would it mean to women's football

:04:42. > :04:47.here if they were to do it? It would mean everything. Not just for the

:04:48. > :04:54.current players, but former players. I think this is our best opportunity

:04:55. > :05:00.to get there. Talking of pressure, she would know her predecessor came

:05:01. > :05:10.close to getting Wales to the World Cup last year. They almost got to

:05:11. > :05:14.the play-offs. . I think this is the best time to do it. Jane will have

:05:15. > :05:18.everything ready. It is a great chance for the girls to get through.

:05:19. > :05:24.The players will be out of tunnel soon. Give us an idea of who you

:05:25. > :05:29.regard to be the key players. We talked of Jess Fishlock. And also

:05:30. > :05:35.Natasha Harding. Who else will they look to. It is Helen Ward. She has a

:05:36. > :05:39.huge amount of experience and the goals to games ratio is incredible.

:05:40. > :05:46.I am looking forward to seeing what she can do. I sense she will gate

:05:47. > :05:54.warm round of applause. There she is behind her skipper. Leading the side

:05:55. > :05:58.out. As they come out on o' the field, alongside Norway. Give us a

:05:59. > :06:03.sense of how tough this game will be. Norway are former world

:06:04. > :06:07.champions and beat Wales 4-0 earlier. Norway has always been a

:06:08. > :06:10.physical and tough side. They will be full of confidence. They have had

:06:11. > :06:19.some good results. So they're going to be up for it today. Their lining

:06:20. > :06:25.up for the anthems. Kick off shortly. Natasha Harding on her big

:06:26. > :06:28.day will get presented with a golden cap by David Griffiths, the

:06:29. > :06:33.president of the football association of Wales. Proud moment

:06:34. > :06:39.for her. Yes really proud. You have names as a -- aims as a player. How

:06:40. > :06:47.key is she to this side? She is really key. She is an explosive

:06:48. > :06:52.powerful forward. If we can get the ball to her, I have a feeling she

:06:53. > :06:56.will do well for us. A warm round of applause as she gets that

:06:57. > :07:01.presentation. How do you see this going? They must win here today. To

:07:02. > :07:07.keep their hopes of getting to Europe alive. What is your gut

:07:08. > :07:12.instinct. My heart is telling me they will win. My head is as well. I

:07:13. > :07:18.think Jane will set them up well and I think they will sneak a 1-0 win.

:07:19. > :07:22.It is a warm day as well. The girls may have liked it cooler. But they

:07:23. > :07:30.have got to go for it. It is such an important game. A crucial day. And

:07:31. > :08:18.time now ahead of game for the two national anthems.

:08:19. > :09:12.Mae hen wlad fy nhadau yn annwyl i mi,

:09:13. > :09:14.Gwlad beirdd a chantorion, enwogion o fri;

:09:15. > :09:15.Ei gwrol ryfelwyr, gwladgarwyr* tra mad,

:09:16. > :10:02.Gwlad, gwlad, pleidiol wyf i'm gwlad,

:10:03. > :10:13.Chris Coleman's side are there. Can Wales seize the opportunity. Let's

:10:14. > :10:21.find out with her match commentator, Simon Davies. COMMENTATOR: Thank

:10:22. > :10:29.you, we hope this will kick start a special summer for international

:10:30. > :10:37.football. As the men prepare for Euro 16 in France. Jayne Ludlow has

:10:38. > :10:45.made four changes. Claire Skinner makes her first start between the

:10:46. > :10:53.sticks and a first cap for Jemma Evans. Norway are former world,

:10:54. > :11:31.European and Olympic champions. They have made two changes.

:11:32. > :11:41.Wales are boosted by the return of Fishlock. She has recovered from a

:11:42. > :11:48.fractured fibula to return to the starting line up this afternoon. It

:11:49. > :11:53.is a lovely day here at what used to be called Spite Park. I'm delighted

:11:54. > :11:56.to have Kath Morgan with me. It may be unlikely, but Wales will be

:11:57. > :12:01.feeling that they can still make an impression in this group and who

:12:02. > :12:09.knows maybe even force qualification. Definitely. It is a

:12:10. > :12:15.huge game, they're playing at home and they must be confident.

:12:16. > :12:30.Otherwise another dream is over. Norway have a wealth of experienced.

:12:31. > :12:44.Captained by Maren Mjelde. . They are favourites, but Wales hopefully

:12:45. > :12:49.will be able to stop them. The referee is from Slovakia. So no

:12:50. > :12:56.mention of Saturday. We are under way for what is a huge game for

:12:57. > :13:02.Jayne Ludlow's team. They lost to the Norwegians earlier in the

:13:03. > :13:11.campaign 4-0. So they know full well the quality that Norway possess. And

:13:12. > :13:17.an early bit of confidence for Claire Skinner. It was a surprise

:13:18. > :13:23.call for her, given that injury to Jo Pryce. But it is a big game for

:13:24. > :13:28.her. She has had a fantastic opportunity. Let's hope she can take

:13:29. > :13:38.it with both hands and keep a clean cat. James just forcing the throw in

:13:39. > :13:45.for Wales. It is to be taken by Harding. What a moment for her. A

:13:46. > :13:58.chance for Fishlock. Well what, a chance that was.

:13:59. > :14:05.Jess Fishlock, she likes to get into the area. She is always dangerous

:14:06. > :14:10.and you can't mark her closely. Because her movement is so good.

:14:11. > :14:31.Let's get a great corner here. We said at the start Sheryl was

:14:32. > :14:36.saying to Iain, the importance of Jess Fishlock and what she brings to

:14:37. > :14:44.the Wales team. Such a boost to see her. Oh gosh, we had a huge scare

:14:45. > :14:48.when she fractured her leg, but like Joe Ledley she has made a great

:14:49. > :14:53.recovery and we are grateful. This has been a decent start from Wales.

:14:54. > :15:04.But Norway like to counterattack. They have the chance here.

:15:05. > :15:14.Berge to Lund. Wales third in Group 8. Remember, you have to finish in

:15:15. > :15:18.the top two places to stand any chance of qualification for the

:15:19. > :15:24.Netherlands. Wales still have a chance of that. But realistically

:15:25. > :15:38.they have to won here. They have two other games remaining.

:15:39. > :15:47.Free kick Wales. It has been a decent start? Yes, Wales look very

:15:48. > :15:50.bright. They know what is at stake and hopefully they can gain

:15:51. > :15:57.confidence and keep the ball. That is the most important thing here,

:15:58. > :16:03.because Norway are very direct. A few people on that bench thought

:16:04. > :16:12.fish look had scored -- Fishlock had scored there.

:16:13. > :16:26.There is a wealth of experience, quite a few of them on 90 caps.

:16:27. > :16:37.The keeper Hjelmseth. We hope this is a special summer ahead of

:16:38. > :16:46.Slovakia, which is live on BBC Wales of course and S4C.

:16:47. > :16:52.Norway being very patient with their passing here. Wales sits back,

:16:53. > :17:09.perhaps can't afford to do that. There is searing is heat here. Very

:17:10. > :17:14.patient in their build up, aren't they? Yes, Norway very experienced

:17:15. > :17:18.and they will not give the ball away. They will take their time and

:17:19. > :17:28.keep possession. It is hard for Wales to keep their shape and just

:17:29. > :17:29.try and counter when they can. Slick passing on a beautiful surface here

:17:30. > :17:54.in Newport. Keep it tight, I am sure that was

:17:55. > :17:59.the message from Jayne Ludlow. 20 months in the job. Very much a work

:18:00. > :18:06.in progress, she tells me. Lots of young players in the squad and even

:18:07. > :18:11.if Euro 2017 is beyond them, maybe they can reach tournaments in the

:18:12. > :18:14.future. There is a loot of change with the squad and it takes time. So

:18:15. > :18:32.we have to be patient. Ward's first touch let her down. But

:18:33. > :18:39.again Fishlock in the thick of the action. A great burst of pace from

:18:40. > :18:46.the Wales No 10. That is exactly what we know she can do. She can hit

:18:47. > :18:56.us on the counter and break. Played a nice ball, but unfortunately

:18:57. > :19:04.intercepted by the right back. Helen Ward prefers playing as a striker.

:19:05. > :19:09.Harding on the right-wing. Has been playing as a left full-back. So lots

:19:10. > :19:27.of experimentation from Jayne Ludlow at the moment.

:19:28. > :19:36.I was in Norway earlier in the campaign and what struck me about

:19:37. > :19:41.Norwegian football was just how the players were such household names.

:19:42. > :19:47.Autograph hunters waiting for the players. It is a huge, it is a big

:19:48. > :19:52.deal out there isn't it, women's football. That is something Wales

:19:53. > :19:58.can learn from. Yes, they have been so successful. At the end of the day

:19:59. > :20:00.it is fact that the federation supports them well. That is what you

:20:01. > :20:06.have to do to breed success. A lovely ball there. Watched

:20:07. > :20:28.carefully by Dykes. That is a good collection from

:20:29. > :20:32.Claire Skinner in the Wales goal. Making her first start for Wales

:20:33. > :20:48.this afternoon in place of the injured Jo Pryce. Rhiannon Roberts.

:20:49. > :20:54.Harding will take this throw in. It is an even start so far. If you talk

:20:55. > :20:59.about chances, Wales have had the best with that Fishlock effort.

:21:00. > :21:02.Wales is problem is when they win the ball, they have to keep the ball

:21:03. > :21:07.and build on little chances they get. Norway will be direct and are

:21:08. > :21:09.very technically sound. We have to keep our shape and be patient

:21:10. > :21:37.ourselves. Up to Berge and that was a great

:21:38. > :21:39.tackle from Dykes. It had to be. Berge could have been in there. That

:21:40. > :21:53.what is Wales have to be careful of. Lauren Dykes making the all

:21:54. > :22:20.important challenge there. Given away cheaply. Berge's shot.

:22:21. > :22:28.That could have gone anywhere. Skinner just about stops it from

:22:29. > :22:38.going for a corner. It was a teasing shot from Berge. Could have gone

:22:39. > :22:42.anywhere. Luckily it went into the arms of Claire Skinner. That is the

:22:43. > :22:46.danger with Norway. They're so clever and they will counter quickly

:22:47. > :22:51.and if Wales lose their shape, they have got a successful shot on goal.

:22:52. > :22:55.It was a deflected effort and could have gone over Skinner's head. That

:22:56. > :23:03.will give her confidence. Perhaps she didn't expect to start this

:23:04. > :23:09.afternoon. Her first start. She won't forget this one in a hurry. It

:23:10. > :23:16.is a fantastic experience for her. I'm sure she will be nervous, but

:23:17. > :23:21.when you look back at your career, these are the moments you treasure.

:23:22. > :23:28.51 caps you got is that right? That is right. I did my homework right.

:23:29. > :23:37.The level of women's game is increasing all the time in Wales. A

:23:38. > :23:43.good tackle. Defensively Wales have been up to the task so far. Yes a

:23:44. > :23:49.fantastic tackle. But we have to keep the ball. We have got the

:23:50. > :23:51.central midfield player dropping in the hole and causing problems, No

:23:52. > :24:30.17. Wales certainly matching their

:24:31. > :24:36.opponents and in this article early -- in this early stage it is very

:24:37. > :24:39.difficult to say. They have dealt with the Norwegians at the moment at

:24:40. > :24:44.the moment. Yes, they have settled down well and you know if we can get

:24:45. > :24:58.a couple of chances, it will give us more confidence again.

:24:59. > :25:14.James a pivotal figure and a favourite of Jayne Ludlow's. Has

:25:15. > :25:19.been a regular starter for her. I wonder how much experiment Jayne

:25:20. > :25:24.Ludlow can afford to do. 20 months in the job, it is a work in

:25:25. > :25:27.progress, but results are important. Hugely important and the squad has

:25:28. > :25:35.changed and things take time. But they are gelling. We need a

:25:36. > :25:42.performance now to quantify that. Berge's header dealt with well from

:25:43. > :25:49.Roberts. Roberts wasn't quite sure what was behind her there I don't

:25:50. > :25:54.think. It was a useful flick on and no risks taken. If we defend

:25:55. > :25:58.properly, make sure we know where the ball is, hopefully we can defend

:25:59. > :26:11.this corner well and try and get up the field as quickly as we can.

:26:12. > :26:18.The corn tore the near post and Skinner's missed it. James with the

:26:19. > :26:21.clearance and a chance for Harding to break. The referee's blown her

:26:22. > :26:42.whistle. It was a decent delivery. It is a great header to clear the

:26:43. > :26:53.danger and James securing the ball away for a throw.

:26:54. > :27:01.It is a free kick for Wales. To be taken by Roberts.

:27:02. > :27:13.25 years of age. Ex-Blackburn. Currently at Doncaster. That was a

:27:14. > :27:18.decent delivery. Wales have a corner. The Norwegians didn't know

:27:19. > :27:26.how to defend that. Hopefully we can get a good corner here now. Taken by

:27:27. > :27:30.James. A thunderous cross from Roberts. Ward like the goal scorer

:27:31. > :27:45.she is, was lurking. The referee has seen something she

:27:46. > :27:47.doesn't like. There is a lot of congestion there. Hopefully Wales

:27:48. > :27:59.can disrupt the defenders. Corner flicked on. Came off a

:28:00. > :28:04.player. Came off a Norwegian player. It is another corner. There is a lot

:28:05. > :28:10.of bodies in the box and that causes problems. We need to miss the front

:28:11. > :28:24.person on the post and we can get anything in there.

:28:25. > :28:31.The danger is not always the Norwegians, it's back out with

:28:32. > :28:38.James, decent position. It's another corner. Wales getting closer. It's

:28:39. > :28:42.crucial to deliver a very good ball because obviously opportunities like

:28:43. > :28:50.this must be taken. We need a good ball from James now. The Norwegian

:28:51. > :28:53.are struggling to defend. Once again, no room for manoeuvring the

:28:54. > :29:00.six yard area as James puts the corner in. Just couldn't get it to

:29:01. > :29:07.another Wales player. Sophie Ingle got a glancing header but I don't

:29:08. > :29:18.think she got the best contacts. But another chance. Wales more than

:29:19. > :29:25.matching their opponents, world-class opposition, ranked 11th

:29:26. > :29:28.in the world, Norway. Former world, European and Olympic champions. The

:29:29. > :29:34.record speaks for themselves but this is a big as Cromwells but it's

:29:35. > :29:47.a very positive start. -- this is a big ask for Wales. They are getting

:29:48. > :29:53.closer. Jess Fishlock looking to create something, up towards

:29:54. > :29:59.Kayleigh Green. Not got much support but she could win corner, came off

:30:00. > :30:07.the flag. CHUCKLES Came off the official as well. A

:30:08. > :30:13.Slovakian official. At least I think it did. CHUCKLES

:30:14. > :30:22.We shouldn't laugh. But she took it in good spirits. Wales of course

:30:23. > :30:30.play Slovakia on Saturday remember. Nice cross from Harding, Cross, shot

:30:31. > :30:38.I think. Just went wide for the goalkick. She has played for some

:30:39. > :30:44.big clubs in the women's game, Manchester City, now at Liverpool.

:30:45. > :30:48.Loves playing for Wales. Yes, very passionate person. I taught her

:30:49. > :30:56.years ago and it's lovely to the herd doing well. Wish you good

:30:57. > :31:02.student? I can't comment. Looking to be a goal-scorer here, the Tasha

:31:03. > :31:07.Harding, then a dodgy clearance. Wales putting pressure on here. Jess

:31:08. > :31:12.Fishlock with the attempt from distance. It was ambitious. We

:31:13. > :31:18.cannot fault the ambition. She certainly has the quality to score

:31:19. > :31:22.from that sort of range. The goalkeeper made a huge mistake, poor

:31:23. > :31:34.clearance, she picked it up and it was worth having a go. Ingrid

:31:35. > :31:41.Hjelmseth under all sorts of pressure. It was a poor clearance.

:31:42. > :31:44.The Welsh are holding the former world champions here, and

:31:45. > :31:48.encouraging display so far. Roberts plays it back to Skinner, strong

:31:49. > :31:56.clearance. This is good play from Wales. Good take-down from Kayleigh

:31:57. > :32:00.Green. Lawrence, looking for Helen Ward. Back to the goalkeeper it

:32:01. > :32:07.goes. Norway under pressure, didn't think I would say that 20 minutes

:32:08. > :32:11.into the game. I agree, I think Wales have settled down and Norway

:32:12. > :32:16.looked quite one ball in defensive situations. If we can capitalise on

:32:17. > :32:27.that we should do well -- look quite vulnerable. Just over the head of

:32:28. > :32:35.adult Heger Berg. She is the big target women. -- Ada Hegerberg.

:32:36. > :32:42.Place for Olympique Lyonnais in France. -- plays. Wales have got to

:32:43. > :32:50.be careful, excellent tackle from Sophie Ingle. Fish -- Jess Fishlock

:32:51. > :32:51.completing the clearance. Defensively wales have been up to

:32:52. > :33:21.the task so far. Sometimes you have to make a tackle

:33:22. > :33:33.and she did just that. No doubt Ada Hegerberg will be a target again

:33:34. > :33:47.here. Plenty of white shirts to aim for. Worrying times for Wales. The

:33:48. > :33:54.cross, towards Skinner. She dropped it but recovered well. Ada Hegerberg

:33:55. > :34:05.once again the danger women. Claire Skinner came to collect and on the

:34:06. > :34:10.second attempt did her job. She made an excellent run, nobody picked her

:34:11. > :34:16.up, here it is again. Great ball in. Almost got on the end of it. Just

:34:17. > :34:21.got the feeling that Norway are starting to turn the screw, show the

:34:22. > :34:35.quality. Jess Fishlock recovering. James. Natasha Harding. Okore throw.

:34:36. > :34:48.That's a shame. Helen Ward was free. She got off balance a little bit.

:34:49. > :34:54.The Tasha Harding is a very versatile player. She has been

:34:55. > :35:02.playing as a left wingback at butter preferred position is more forward

:35:03. > :35:14.as an orthodox winger. Is offside? The flag has gone up, might have

:35:15. > :35:27.been tight. Every single region ball is looking for Ada Hegerberg but it

:35:28. > :35:42.is offside. Roberts to take a free kick for Wales.

:35:43. > :35:57.It's aimless. Harding was there. Let's go down to pitch side. What is

:35:58. > :36:01.Jayne Ludlow going to be thinking? I think she will be happy with the

:36:02. > :36:06.start, we've had the better chances and being 0-0 at this stage is

:36:07. > :36:09.important, hopefully we can capitalise on some of the mistakes

:36:10. > :36:19.that Norwegians are doing and get the goal. Sharp take a breath a

:36:20. > :36:22.second ago. Yes, a little bit as the goalkeeper dropped the ball but I

:36:23. > :36:29.think we have played the better so hopefully the girls can get a goal

:36:30. > :36:34.just before half-time. Thank you. Hard to disagree with that, Wales

:36:35. > :36:39.have more than held their own. All that is missing, as they see in

:36:40. > :36:43.football, is a goal. Defensively we have shown good shape and are very

:36:44. > :36:50.disciplined. It is now a case of tried to counterattack when we get

:36:51. > :37:02.the ball. Crunching tackle from Jess Fishlock. Good recovering tackle

:37:03. > :37:10.from Helen Ward. Norway starting to look a little bit more dangerous

:37:11. > :37:17.year. Great tackle, she just loses her footing and back it goes to

:37:18. > :37:23.Ingrid Hjelmseth. Made once again by Jess Fishlock. Tenacious tackling.

:37:24. > :37:29.Almost put Kayleigh Green through on goal. I was going to say this was

:37:30. > :37:31.the danger when Norway counterattack but it was a stray pass. But Jess

:37:32. > :37:49.Fishlock... Harding chasing. Really putting

:37:50. > :37:57.pressure on the goalkeeper, Ingrid Hjelmseth.

:37:58. > :38:11.Helen Ward is free. She has the time. It's a goalkick. Helen Ward,

:38:12. > :38:15.so deadly in the penalty area usually. Scored a hat-trick against

:38:16. > :38:22.Kazakhstan in the last home qualifier. But it's all about Jess

:38:23. > :38:25.Fishlock. Her vision is sublime. Unlucky for Helen, caught on her

:38:26. > :38:34.left foot and lifted the ball up but Jess Fishlock is a quality player.

:38:35. > :38:40.Is an important figure for her team Seattle Reign out in the United

:38:41. > :38:44.States. Made a super recovery from her fractured fibula, I'm not a

:38:45. > :38:50.doctor but an extraordinary comeback. It was a small fracture

:38:51. > :39:11.and as long as she has healed we don't mind. Here is James. Harding.

:39:12. > :39:17.Fishlock. Wales still have it, fish -- M1 Mack battling for it. He was

:39:18. > :39:26.learned. -- Fishlock battling for it. Ada Hegerberg the target again

:39:27. > :39:34.and again Wales are defensively up to it. The central defence

:39:35. > :39:38.partnership of Sophie Ingle and we should mention Gemma Evans, I

:39:39. > :39:41.youngster who has played a very accomplished debut here, winning her

:39:42. > :39:56.first cap. Lund. Throw for Wales. Fishlock winning

:39:57. > :40:13.that. will be pleased with what she has

:40:14. > :40:30.seen so far,. As this game has progressed Wales

:40:31. > :40:37.have kept up with Norway, in hot conditions. You hope they can keep

:40:38. > :40:50.this level up. You just have to be patient, we prepared well. Wales are

:40:51. > :40:53.prepared well, we know exactly what Norway will give us, they will be

:40:54. > :40:59.very direct and technically very strong. We have had the best of the

:41:00. > :41:11.first 28 minutes so it's all positive. Great gesture from Jayne

:41:12. > :41:20.Ludlow to let Jess Fishlock lead out the team. Roberts will take the

:41:21. > :41:27.throw. Not a bad crowd here either. I was expecting a few more but...

:41:28. > :41:38.It's a free kick for Wales. It was a late whistle but this is a golden

:41:39. > :41:41.opportunity. Yes, Kayleigh Green holding her body position, comes

:41:42. > :41:42.into her back and it's a great position for Wales to take a free

:41:43. > :41:58.kick. The centre-back making her debut

:41:59. > :42:03.takes the free kick. I don't know a lot about her so it'll be

:42:04. > :42:08.interesting watch her. Needs a nice ball over the wall and into the

:42:09. > :42:12.danger area. The delivery needs to be good, Wales have had chances and

:42:13. > :42:24.here is another. It's a decent delivery. Was it a cross or a shot?

:42:25. > :42:27.Gemma Evans was mightily close. Great left foot, great delivery. I

:42:28. > :42:38.think she went for the far post unfortunately, but a great effort,

:42:39. > :42:43.well done. She had stars in her eyes I think. On her debut. But that is

:42:44. > :42:54.one thing about Jayne Ludlow, likes to give young players a chance. Foul

:42:55. > :43:01.by Fishlock. No card but a bit too keen to get the ball of Ada

:43:02. > :43:04.Hegerberg. Young players certainly getting opportunities under Jayne

:43:05. > :43:18.Ludlow. Yes, it's important to try to bring a new influx of players in.

:43:19. > :43:24.That's a lovely turn, Wales and the counterattack. Helen Ward. Neat

:43:25. > :43:33.little pass in towards Lawrence. James. Just overhit it. Norway did

:43:34. > :43:37.very well to stop the counter, got into defensive positions very well

:43:38. > :43:42.and stop the build-up for Wales which is a shame. It was a good

:43:43. > :43:51.break from Helen Ward, James disappointed with herself. Overhit

:43:52. > :43:55.it. What a weaker Welsh football. -- what a week for Welsh football. We

:43:56. > :43:59.hope, and the signs are good so far, that this could be the start of a

:44:00. > :44:04.special summer for Welsh international football. Ada

:44:05. > :44:22.Hegerberg the target again. Cleared away only as far as Nora Berge.

:44:23. > :44:40.I open wide. Kristine Minde. The referee says play on, player is

:44:41. > :44:47.down, she has stopped play. It's not for a head injury. Jayne Ludlow not

:44:48. > :45:02.very happy. Talking to the fourth official. The player down... It was

:45:03. > :45:08.a clumsy tackle from Natasha Harding and I don't think she can have too

:45:09. > :45:12.many complaints. Came through quite hard, behind the knee. The player in

:45:13. > :45:16.a bit of distress but it will give Wales time to regroup, get it

:45:17. > :45:23.together and the last ten minutes are crucial. The referee did not

:45:24. > :45:30.blow for a foul but did stop play when the player was down so I think

:45:31. > :45:36.it will be a drop ball. It's a glorious afternoon here in Newport.

:45:37. > :45:50.Quick drink break for the players. Very hot out there. Not a bad crowd,

:45:51. > :45:55.a lot of local schoolchildren here. I would have expected a few more if

:45:56. > :45:59.I was honest but it's great they come down to support and the more

:46:00. > :46:08.games we can have here in South Wales the better for the players to

:46:09. > :46:13.aspire to be footballers themselves. Still receiving some treatment here.

:46:14. > :46:17.Wales have played a number of games in different venues over the years,

:46:18. > :46:26.the women's team that is. The Cardiff City Stadium. Good to take

:46:27. > :46:29.the game around Wales. It was a drop ball. Sophie Ingle with the long

:46:30. > :46:39.ball for Helen Ward but over her head. The pace of the game has

:46:40. > :46:43.slowed a bit. Not far to go until half-time, plenty of Jayne Ludlow to

:46:44. > :46:55.think about ahead of the second half. Helen Ward will take the

:46:56. > :47:01.throw. All-time goal-scorer for Wales, Helen Ward. A skewed cross,

:47:02. > :47:13.James attempted the flick on, it's a bit Messi. -- it's a bit of a mess.

:47:14. > :47:23.For all the patient's Norway have not created an awful lot. The

:47:24. > :47:26.striker is so dangerous, one chance and they will be comfortably leading

:47:27. > :47:52.1-0 so they have to be careful to keep their discipline.

:47:53. > :48:01.A lot of the attacking play from the Welsh point of view has come from

:48:02. > :48:06.that left side. Is that foul? Yes. Cleared foul on Kayleigh Green and

:48:07. > :48:11.another chance to get the ball into the area. Not sure if Evans will

:48:12. > :48:15.take it again but certainly an opportunity. It looks as though it

:48:16. > :48:17.is James who is setting up the ball. Let's hope we can get everyone in

:48:18. > :48:29.position. James with the cross, header over

:48:30. > :48:35.the bar. It wasn't a bad attempt from Roberts. I think she had more

:48:36. > :48:43.room than perhaps she thought. James with the cross, and there was

:48:44. > :48:47.Roberts. Great deep ball, unfortunately just put it over the

:48:48. > :48:55.top, but she had to be there to miss it so well done being there.

:48:56. > :49:03.Don't want to concede before half-time, have done so well to

:49:04. > :49:17.stifle Norway. Wales could be caught cold here on

:49:18. > :49:29.the break. Kristine Minde. Towards Ada Hegerberg. High and wide. She

:49:30. > :49:39.had plenty of room outside the penalty area. But once again, once

:49:40. > :49:44.Wales were caught in possession, Norway can be so dangerous on the

:49:45. > :49:50.counterattack. They are very accurate and will shoot at any time

:49:51. > :49:55.so Wales have to be careful. Short ball from Skinner, have to be

:49:56. > :50:02.careful here. Hasty clearance in the end. Under pressure. Claire Skinner.

:50:03. > :50:17.A little bit of inexperience there I think. Played it short to suffer the

:50:18. > :50:22.single -- to Sophie Ingle. On balance, Claire Skinner hasn't put a

:50:23. > :50:29.foot wrong yet. A first start to remember so far from the goalkeeper.

:50:30. > :50:40.Wales have to be careful, was Ada Hegerberg fouled? The Norway bench.

:50:41. > :50:46.That could have been a penalty. Skipping round the defence. I don't

:50:47. > :50:58.think it was a penalty. Skinner came out. Ada Hegerberg is through again

:50:59. > :51:04.here. Cleared away by Sophie Ingle. The striker causing all sorts of

:51:05. > :51:12.problems now. First with the one-on-one with Skinner.

:51:13. > :51:28.You said it, she is causing real problems, this striker. She is very

:51:29. > :51:34.experienced. She can turn the game on a sixpence. Just jumped out of

:51:35. > :51:41.the tackle. Sophie Ingle is the player to mark her, we have

:51:42. > :51:45.experience there as well. Ada Hegerberg has been at Olympique

:51:46. > :51:52.Lyonnais since 2014. Great tackle from James and the break is on for

:51:53. > :51:56.Wales. Still with James, early cross, perhaps too early, but

:51:57. > :52:06.Fishlock could get on the end of this. Optimistic drive from

:52:07. > :52:15.Lawrence. The break was on. Wales just not taking their chances where

:52:16. > :52:17.Norway have been caught cold. Just need to keep playing in those

:52:18. > :52:33.situations. Here is Ada Hegerberg. She has had

:52:34. > :52:41.her chances. Wales defensive play up to the task. Ada Hegerberg is

:52:42. > :52:54.drifting the whole side of the pitch which is making it difficult. Very

:52:55. > :52:59.clever player. Still no goals and that will be music to the ears of

:53:00. > :53:10.Jayne Ludlow. The next five minutes are crucial, not to concede.

:53:11. > :53:31.Spreading the play. Lund. Bombing forward now, Norway. I'd towards

:53:32. > :53:39.Kristine Minde. -- act towards. -- out towards. She's a player Jayne

:53:40. > :53:44.Ludlow has known for many years. All-time record goal-scorer for

:53:45. > :53:50.Wales, worked with Jayne at Arsenal and Reading. Played for the England

:53:51. > :53:56.under 23 side but switched allegiance to Wales. And I think

:53:57. > :54:01.Jayne Ludlow is more than happy with that decision. She has never looked

:54:02. > :54:07.back since that decision, she has been a great servant for Welsh

:54:08. > :54:20.women's football. Proud to have her. Skinner with the kick. Centrally

:54:21. > :54:24.placed it. Looking for the header back perhaps, needed. It needed to

:54:25. > :54:32.be a good defensive header and it was. Skinner made the decision

:54:33. > :54:37.early. Good communication. Route one staff, Harding chasing the loose

:54:38. > :54:42.ball. Very direct from Wales but it gets the job done.

:54:43. > :55:05.Her 50th cap, Harding. How she would love a goal.

:55:06. > :55:16.Made a real mess of that, Wales can take advantage perhaps. Up towards

:55:17. > :55:17.Ada Hegerberg. She's got round one defender, good decision-making from

:55:18. > :55:29.Skinner. For a goalkeeper who perhaps didn't

:55:30. > :55:35.expect to start this afternoon she's made some cracking decisions. Ada

:55:36. > :55:40.Hegerberg was through. Definitely, she came it very quickly. Fishlock

:55:41. > :55:44.with the ball up to Harding but the other goalkeeper collect it. But

:55:45. > :55:50.it's all about the Welsh goalkeeper in the first half and what she has

:55:51. > :55:56.done, Claire Skinner. It will give her lots of confidence going into

:55:57. > :56:00.the second half. The long balls causing Wales are a few problems. Up

:56:01. > :56:07.towards James, again, it's an interesting puzzle between Sophie

:56:08. > :56:14.Ingle and Ada Hegerberg, two experienced internationals. Norway

:56:15. > :56:16.have the height advantage, we are competing but not winning in the

:56:17. > :56:37.centre. This is a good move from Norway.

:56:38. > :56:44.Skinner came to collect. Loren Dykes with the clearance. Helen Ward is

:56:45. > :56:50.trying to stave off the Norwegian attack. Good defensive work. Up feel

:56:51. > :57:01.that goes towards Kayleigh Green. -- Copperfield. Fishlock has missed it.

:57:02. > :57:06.Wales have got to be careful. Ada Hegerberg charging towards the goal

:57:07. > :57:13.but cleared away by Evans. Not taking any risks there. Ada

:57:14. > :57:22.Hegerberg has had a fair few chances in this game.

:57:23. > :57:31.I think Jayne Ludlow can be very pleased can she? Yes, she's very

:57:32. > :57:35.tense on the touchline and rightly so but Wales have done very, very

:57:36. > :57:39.well to keep it 0-0 for the next minute hopefully they can group

:57:40. > :57:46.together and come out in the second half and take the chances. As things

:57:47. > :57:51.stand Jayne Ludlow's team unlikely to be going to the Netherlands if it

:57:52. > :57:53.stays like this, they really do need to win. And in the two remaining

:57:54. > :58:05.games as well. Wales can break in injury time,

:58:06. > :58:12.Harding almost through, one minutes still to be played.

:58:13. > :58:22.It's a poor clearance from Norway. Put into that area, Helen Ward was

:58:23. > :58:31.waiting, the chance goes begging, I'd goal kick.

:58:32. > :58:40.Harding, the ball seemed to hit her heel as it came through. Yes it

:58:41. > :58:52.stopped her run. But we are causing them problems.

:58:53. > :59:04.And that is that. Well no goals to speak of. But Wales can be pleased,

:59:05. > :59:08.Hegerberg has been the main source of Norway's attacking. But Jess

:59:09. > :59:13.Fishlock came close for Wales as well. In the very first minute in

:59:14. > :59:19.fact. It was a snapshot which went over the bar. She has been an

:59:20. > :59:23.important figure. For Wales, it is so far so go against one of the

:59:24. > :59:38.leading nations in women's football. It was always going to be a crucial

:59:39. > :59:43.day for Wales, knowing only a win would do. A special day for Natasha

:59:44. > :59:48.Harding as she collects her 50th cap and Wales going for it in the first

:59:49. > :59:54.half. Fishlock at the centre of things with some good chances, but

:59:55. > :59:59.Norway big and strong, Hegerberg a big figure for the visitors. What a

:00:00. > :00:07.debut this could have been for Gemma Evans. A cross or maybe a shot not

:00:08. > :00:15.too far away. So it is goalless at half-time. Sheryl Foster with me.

:00:16. > :00:18.Hoping Wales can do what you and so many of your former colleagues

:00:19. > :00:26.didn't do and get to a major tournament. How do you feel they

:00:27. > :00:30.have done in the first half? Like I said, for the first half I think set

:00:31. > :00:34.out how Jane wants them to play. When they haven't got the ball they

:00:35. > :00:38.have the players behind the ball and making it tough for Norway. When

:00:39. > :00:45.they have got the ball, they're counter attacking and they're

:00:46. > :00:49.looking sharp up front. We talked of Jess Fishlock coming back, she has

:00:50. > :00:54.been at the centre of most of the good stuff Wales have done. Jess

:00:55. > :00:57.will always be at the centre of good play. She has that knack of going

:00:58. > :01:04.into the area just at the last moment. This is another good dart

:01:05. > :01:10.from midfield. She undercut that pass a bit to hell hn. -- to hell

:01:11. > :01:20.hn. She is a fiery character and wants to get that win. It is a kind

:01:21. > :01:27.of Lazarus-like recovery from her injury. Norway have had their

:01:28. > :01:32.chances as well. There was a couple of moments that I was on the side

:01:33. > :01:36.gasping a bit. Norway's always going to get a couple of chances. Jane's

:01:37. > :01:41.got to make sure at the back we keep it nice and tight. I think, I have

:01:42. > :01:47.been impressed with Gemma Evans. For a debut she has done well. Very

:01:48. > :01:51.strong. So a few concerns, but on the whole Wales must be pleased.

:01:52. > :01:57.Gemma Evans and her colleagues have had to deal with Hegerberg, who has

:01:58. > :02:03.created all sorts of havoc for Norway and problems for the Welsh

:02:04. > :02:09.defence. At this level, you will always have teams who will have

:02:10. > :02:15.chances. When they played them away, they won 4-0. But on the whole Wales

:02:16. > :02:20.have dealt with things well. We always say what will the manager be

:02:21. > :02:26.saying at half-time? There are moments where they perhaps need to

:02:27. > :02:32.come up with something special. We know Wales need to win. So what will

:02:33. > :02:35.Jane be saying? Mainly, we have had the chances. The point is when we

:02:36. > :02:39.have the ball, we need to relax a bit. We have had a couple of chances

:02:40. > :02:46.where it has been a snapshot. So just to take their time, I'm not

:02:47. > :02:53.saying for defenders to come back n but take their time and be more

:02:54. > :02:59.composed in front of goal. Kath Morgan has been in the commentary

:03:00. > :03:06.box. She is with Rachael. It is still warm here, the girls will be

:03:07. > :03:11.feeling it? It was a tough half. Wales will be pleased. Yes, Norway

:03:12. > :03:15.are dangerous on the counterattack and have got tricky forwards. But we

:03:16. > :03:22.have contained them, created chances and all in all, I think they will be

:03:23. > :03:28.happy. Norway aren't looking like a side that beat them 4-0. Well

:03:29. > :03:32.they're away from home. They know a draw and they're comfortable at the

:03:33. > :03:36.top where they want to be. So Wales have it all to do. Therefore they

:03:37. > :03:41.can kind of be a bit more comfortable. When the ball is with

:03:42. > :03:46.Norway, they do Wales seem to be throwing everyone behind it and then

:03:47. > :03:53.ewhen they're getting a break it is more tricky. We are so vulnerable

:03:54. > :03:58.when the ball goes in behind us. We have a young keeper, who has done

:03:59. > :04:01.well. The centre-back is very busy. But we have to defend well, because

:04:02. > :04:06.we don't want to concede. But we need to get up the other end. What

:04:07. > :04:13.will Jayne Ludlow be saying to the team? She will be giving them

:04:14. > :04:18.confidence to continue to play. It is a long half against an

:04:19. > :04:24.experienced team. If we can contain ourselves and try and sneak a goal,

:04:25. > :04:29.confidence should be high. Thanks. Still 45 minutes to go, they have to

:04:30. > :04:32.just sort of keep their composure and don't just try and throw

:04:33. > :04:37.everything at Norway. They might leave themselves exposed if they do.

:04:38. > :04:41.We all know that the first five minutes of the second half is always

:04:42. > :04:48.important. We don't want to concede Arley on. -- early on. We need to

:04:49. > :04:55.build on the confidence they're showing. We are hearing via the

:04:56. > :05:01.wonders of social media that in France three of Chr Coleman's side

:05:02. > :05:07.are watching the game and of course you won't fail to know of course

:05:08. > :05:14.that there is a big game going on in Bordeaux on Saturday. As Wales play

:05:15. > :05:23.their opening Euro 2016 game against Slovakia.

:05:24. > :05:30.We need to get off to a good start and then see what happens. I just

:05:31. > :05:35.want it to come. It is just waiting and getting prepared. But we are all

:05:36. > :05:38.excited and so we should be. It is a major tournament, hopefully we will

:05:39. > :05:48.do well and we are all looking forward to it. We have reached the

:05:49. > :05:52.target of qualifying and now we realise how huge this occasion is.

:05:53. > :05:56.It is important for us to enjoy it and not feel to pressurised. We

:05:57. > :06:04.believe we are a good team and we should go far. We want to win every

:06:05. > :06:08.game we play, we want to win the group and give ourselves the best

:06:09. > :06:16.chance. No matter who we play, we feel confident we can win and we

:06:17. > :06:20.will go out to try and do that. We have known each other for a number

:06:21. > :06:25.of years. We have worked our socks off to get here and we want too

:06:26. > :06:31.prove that we are more than capable of matching the bigger nations. You

:06:32. > :06:38.have seen smaller nations progress far before so we will be trying to

:06:39. > :06:46.follow those nations. It is no good just coming here once and that is it

:06:47. > :06:54.for another 50-odd years. We want to repeat what we have already done. So

:06:55. > :07:03.the World Cup will be the next target after this tournament.

:07:04. > :07:25.These the key dates I am sure you know these by now.

:07:26. > :07:32.We hope there will be more. We can show you these shots of the Wales

:07:33. > :07:37.team arriving in France. Of course they played Sweden on Sunday. They

:07:38. > :07:47.had that 3-0 defeat. They went straight to their base. There is

:07:48. > :07:52.Gareth Bale shaking is hands on their arrival in Brittany. Sheryl,

:07:53. > :07:57.the whole nation so excited about what lies in store. You wonder how

:07:58. > :08:03.excited those players are feeling now. What are we? Just four days

:08:04. > :08:09.away from that game. It's just, we have waited a long time. It's just,

:08:10. > :08:13.it is so exciting for every Welsh person for this game. I can't wait

:08:14. > :08:18.and I'm sure everyone else is as well. It was disappointing on Sunday

:08:19. > :08:23.with that defeat in Sweden. Does that worry you? A bit. Only because

:08:24. > :08:27.we have not played too well in the last couple of games. But they're

:08:28. > :08:30.friendlies and hopefully they're going to put everything together and

:08:31. > :08:37.make sure everything's ready for Saturday. Form hasn't been great.

:08:38. > :08:42.But Chris Coleman said sometimes you have a bad pre-season to put it into

:08:43. > :08:46.club parlance and get off to a great start in your season, or it can work

:08:47. > :08:51.the other way. Have a crack pre-season and you get off to a

:08:52. > :08:55.terrible start. I think what is important is that their pre-season

:08:56. > :09:00.friendlies in a way and just let's rid of them and be focussed for the

:09:01. > :09:04.first game. There will be a few nerves on Saturday. But the blood's

:09:05. > :09:08.going to be boiling, the energy will be going. I think that will suit,

:09:09. > :09:13.see them through the game. Blood will be boiling and it could well be

:09:14. > :09:17.boiling in France. There are so many thousands of Welsh fans already

:09:18. > :09:24.there, or they will be making their way out there over the week. Lots

:09:25. > :09:28.travel in hope and expectation and some will be less optimistic. How do

:09:29. > :09:34.you feel about Wales and how they might do? I'm optimistic. Out there,

:09:35. > :09:39.anything can happen. They have got to take each game as it comes. The

:09:40. > :09:42.most important one is Saturday. Let's see how we do there and then

:09:43. > :09:48.get our minds focussed for the England game. As players, we all

:09:49. > :09:54.know you have got to take each game as it comes. You know what it is

:09:55. > :10:00.like in a group, do you target particular sides for victories?

:10:01. > :10:06.People say the game with Slovakia is the game where Wales will pick up a

:10:07. > :10:10.victory? Not particularly. You have got to go into every game wanting to

:10:11. > :10:15.win. Innior first game getting three points would be brilliant. But I

:10:16. > :10:19.don't think you plan ways of playing against certain teams. You have got

:10:20. > :10:25.to go out for the points and get out of the group phase. They always say,

:10:26. > :10:29.another cliche, play the game and not the occasion. That is impossible

:10:30. > :10:34.against England in a major tournament? I understand that, but

:10:35. > :10:37.they're professionals and I understand how important it is to

:10:38. > :10:42.beat England, but also to get out of the group. To get to the first

:10:43. > :10:47.Championships any way is important. But to get out of the group would be

:10:48. > :10:51.incredible. I know also Kath Morgan who is in the commentary box, one of

:10:52. > :10:57.your colleagues with Wales as well, Kath, you're going out there to

:10:58. > :11:01.France, exciting times, you must be thrilled to be part of it. How do

:11:02. > :11:08.you think Wales will do? I'm very excited. To go to Slovakia game. I

:11:09. > :11:12.think we will be confident and I think we will win the first game and

:11:13. > :11:18.that will breed momentum into the England and Russia game. Do you

:11:19. > :11:23.share the optimism? Yes, why not? It has taken us so long to get there.

:11:24. > :11:31.The nation will be behind everybody and we are going to do it! Thank you

:11:32. > :11:37.Kath. And Sheryl, in terms of the game here, obviously Wales are

:11:38. > :11:41.hoping they can follow the men and qualify for a major tournament

:11:42. > :11:44.themselves. They have never done it. No, we have never done it, but I

:11:45. > :11:47.think we have a great opportunities. The girls have played well and I

:11:48. > :11:52.hope they can capitalise on the chances we have had. Do you think if

:11:53. > :11:56.Wales were able to make it to their first major tournament it would,

:11:57. > :12:01.would it transform the women's game here. More and more girls are take

:12:02. > :12:05.up football. It is on the rise. But how big a transformation would it be

:12:06. > :12:09.if Wales got to a major finals? I think it would be incredible. The

:12:10. > :12:14.money that would be pumped into the game and also it just would make the

:12:15. > :12:18.girls more recognised and more young players would then play. It would be

:12:19. > :12:23.a great achievement and a huge boost for the country. I think Rachael has

:12:24. > :12:29.been going around the stadium trying to find more people to talk to us.

:12:30. > :12:33.Who do you have with us. I have Jo Pryce and it is her birthday. What

:12:34. > :12:42.better present than if we could gate Wales win? I Yes we are looking

:12:43. > :12:46.strong and competing well. Looking forward to our next goal. What is

:12:47. > :12:50.Jayne Ludlow going to have said to the girls? Just keep doing what we

:12:51. > :12:56.are doing and be patient. Any changes do you see? Not yet. Don't

:12:57. > :13:04.need to change it. Are you happy? Yes. Slaes happy girl, Iain. Sheryl

:13:05. > :13:12.is still opt mis-I can, the teams back out. Wales with 45 minutes left

:13:13. > :13:17.to keep that European dream alive. Let's head back to our commentary

:13:18. > :13:24.team of Kath Morgan and Simon Davies. COMMENTATOR: May I take the

:13:25. > :13:34.opportunity to say hello to the Wales team in France, many of whom

:13:35. > :13:41.are watching. I have seen a tweet the team watching. Wales to doing

:13:42. > :13:45.well. It is fantastic the lads are supporting the girls. Let's hope the

:13:46. > :13:53.next 45 will be as good as the first. The indications are that

:13:54. > :13:55.Jayne Ludlow hasn't changed anything. Can't see any

:13:56. > :14:02.substitutions. That is understandable. Claire Skinner in

:14:03. > :14:07.goal has had a strong fist start and has a pat on the pack there from one

:14:08. > :14:14.of the coaches and rightfully so. Yes, she has done herself justice.

:14:15. > :14:19.She has come out to a very experienced team and commanded her

:14:20. > :14:27.area and they have given her a lot of experience when we need to

:14:28. > :14:35.defend. The scenario is not complicated. Only the need for

:14:36. > :14:41.self-belief from Wales. Norway ranked 11 in the world. Former world

:14:42. > :14:52.and European champions and former Olympic champions. We await the

:14:53. > :14:58.whistle and Wales have got to go for it now haven't they? No changes from

:14:59. > :15:06.the Wales carp v camp -- from the Wales camp. No changes for the

:15:07. > :15:11.Norwegians either. They will be hoping to start the game as they did

:15:12. > :15:15.in the fist half with that Jess Fishlock chance? If we settle down

:15:16. > :15:31.and take every five minutes as they come. Try and get on the ball more

:15:32. > :15:32.and get better service up to Green. Hjelmseth had a comfortable first

:15:33. > :15:52.half. That is a ball for Green to chase.

:15:53. > :15:58.It was watched all the way by Lund. Wales's turn to be more direct this

:15:59. > :16:06.time. But here go Norway with Hegerberg, the danger woman. She has

:16:07. > :16:16.run out of room. Again good defence from Wales.

:16:17. > :16:22.Wales need to get more support further up the field when we get the

:16:23. > :16:31.ball. We seem to be behind the ball a lot. That makes it more difficult

:16:32. > :16:37.to get support into Green. Dykes almost with a costly mistake.

:16:38. > :16:41.Hegerberg closing her down. I don't think she realised how close

:16:42. > :16:57.Hegerberg was there. Quite lucky that she has won a throw.

:16:58. > :17:10.Minde switching flanks for this half. A ball for Ward to chase. She

:17:11. > :17:14.is not giving up on this one. But once again the creator was Jess

:17:15. > :17:24.Fishlock. She has got such class and poise on the ball.

:17:25. > :17:34.It is more of an open game. Minde just beyond her. But what about

:17:35. > :17:41.Fishlock. Time and time again we say it. Great tack here by Jess. She

:17:42. > :17:44.gets up, defending well and plays a fantastic ball forward.

:17:45. > :17:54.Unfortunately just not far enough. She was captain, Jayne Ludlow

:17:55. > :18:02.decided to go in a different direction in terms of the captaincy.

:18:03. > :18:06.Still almost a captain in all but name in many ways. Doesn't wear the

:18:07. > :18:13.arm band, but is such an important figure. She is very passionate about

:18:14. > :18:15.playing for Wales and it is no coincidence she is worldwide known,

:18:16. > :18:23.having played in Europe and Australia and the United States. Six

:18:24. > :18:30.different countries she has played for. She hasn't played in Norway,

:18:31. > :18:32.that is one of leading nations in women's football. I'm sure they

:18:33. > :19:03.would love her to play there. It was a very, well it had to be a

:19:04. > :19:09.good tackle. And Harding, that was a real heart in your mouth moment.

:19:10. > :19:13.Fantastic tackle. Great timing. She won the ball, player went down. Any

:19:14. > :19:26.other day some referees might give it the other way. But well done.

:19:27. > :19:33.For the men watching in France, I'm sure they will be encouraged by this

:19:34. > :19:39.and hopefully draw some inspiration. Ahead of a massive week for Welsh

:19:40. > :19:45.football. We are all extremely excited for the game, so good luck

:19:46. > :19:48.to the boys. When are you going out. I'm flying out Saturday morning. You

:19:49. > :19:55.and thousands of other Welsh people I'm sure. And if you can, if you

:19:56. > :20:03.can't get out there, you can watch it on BBC Wales television.

:20:04. > :20:10.5 o'clock kick off, Wales against Slovakia. The biggest game in Welsh

:20:11. > :20:32.football for 58 years. I am sure you don't need reminding of that.

:20:33. > :20:39.It is great to see a team off to a tournament. We waited so long and

:20:40. > :20:45.hopefully it won't be too long before we see Wales women at a

:20:46. > :20:53.competition. Even if it isn't Holland next year. We always dreamed

:20:54. > :20:59.of getting to a major Championship and these girls will be no

:21:00. > :21:07.different. They have won a corner. Can they make Norway pay? Again

:21:08. > :21:10.Fishlock in the thick of the action, putting Lund under pressure and

:21:11. > :21:15.Harding getting involved too. . That is all she needs to do, is get her

:21:16. > :21:30.body in the right position and everybody feels threatened.

:21:31. > :21:39.Not a bad delivery. But Roberts couldn't get there. And it is a

:21:40. > :21:45.Norway throw. Chance goes begging. That is a shame. The delivery was

:21:46. > :21:56.good, but she should have hung out a bit for the far post. Wales need to

:21:57. > :22:04.win this game. Anything less, well a defeat ends all qualification hopes.

:22:05. > :22:20.A draw makes it very unlikely. But a win could mean so much.

:22:21. > :22:29.Fishlock goes it a alone. Whether that was the right choice or not,

:22:30. > :22:38.I'm not sure. But Jess Fishlock with one thought in mind there. She had a

:22:39. > :22:42.go there. Now we have to be careful about the counterattack. Into

:22:43. > :23:09.Hegerberg. Wales are growing in confidence.

:23:10. > :23:13.Pretty end to end. In many ways more open than it was in the first half.

:23:14. > :23:23.Yes, I think Wales know they have to score and Norway are taking their

:23:24. > :23:25.chances when they get them. Hegerberg is onside. She can't get

:23:26. > :23:34.the shot in. And Wales you have to say

:23:35. > :23:40.defensively have done their job again. I think the problem we have

:23:41. > :23:45.is we have got to make sure there is no gaps now so the counter from

:23:46. > :23:52.Norway can come quickly. Because one goal and it is all over. We need to

:23:53. > :24:19.be careful. But Wales still should be high in confidence.

:24:20. > :24:26.Norway are playing a risky game. They're getting forward and Wales

:24:27. > :24:33.absorbing the pressure and looking to counterattack. Great defensive

:24:34. > :24:38.shape by Wales. They kept moving in two banks of four across the field,

:24:39. > :24:53.where there is no space for Norway to get in behind.

:24:54. > :25:00.The aim was to find Lawrence there and Wales have conceded a throw.

:25:01. > :25:03.Sloppy play there and Harding will be disappointed. It puts them under

:25:04. > :25:23.pressure. Throw in Wales. Harding resists the

:25:24. > :25:27.temptation to take it quickly. There was no support there. So it was a

:25:28. > :25:35.good decision not to take it quick. Only one player was up in attack. So

:25:36. > :25:38.wait for everybody to come and help. Beautiful afternoon here in Newport.

:25:39. > :26:05.Ideal weather. Mykjaland in front and it rolls to

:26:06. > :26:15.Claire Skinner who hasn't had much to do this half. She will kick from

:26:16. > :26:17.her hands. 19 years of age. Given her first cap by Jayne Ludlow and

:26:18. > :26:32.this being her first start. Hegerberg with a poor first touch.

:26:33. > :26:35.That was lucky for Wales. Had it been a better touch they would have

:26:36. > :26:42.been in trouble. She is still full of running. Very strong, very tall

:26:43. > :26:50.and agile. These a threat behind the sceptre half and the left --

:26:51. > :26:53.centre-half and the left full-back. Skinner again, 19-year-old

:26:54. > :26:58.goalkeeper. With the sun in her eyes. It is an awkward kick. It goes

:26:59. > :27:25.straight to a Norwegian player. Green to chase against Berge. What

:27:26. > :27:33.can Green do. She is almost sliding in. A gasp from the crowd. That will

:27:34. > :27:38.tell you how close it was. Great tenacity from Green. The Norwegian

:27:39. > :27:43.players with no communication and she was unlucky. You can't give

:27:44. > :27:58.Hegerberg room. Lofted into the area. Well,

:27:59. > :28:06.Thorsnes, it was just behind her and from one end of the pitch to the

:28:07. > :28:11.other, Wales go from almost scoring to almost conceding. A far post

:28:12. > :28:19.cross, but fortunately it was just too high for her. An intriguing game

:28:20. > :28:24.this second half. It is very open and that will breed goals. Hopefully

:28:25. > :28:36.we can get some goals in the next 20 minutes.

:28:37. > :28:44.Fighting hard to win the ball back but here come Norway again. Well

:28:45. > :28:48.played by Fishlock, wins the ball back cleanly but they've given it

:28:49. > :28:57.away again. Can't afford to do this, Wales. The block was there. They are

:28:58. > :29:02.cheaply giving away possession and Jayne Ludlow won't be happy with

:29:03. > :29:06.that. The right back, I think she's a bit tired and they are getting

:29:07. > :29:11.into a two on one situation down the right-hand side so they have to

:29:12. > :29:19.double up. Clearance from Sophie Ingle. Great ball control from

:29:20. > :29:34.Fishlock. Tried to do a bit too much perhaps. All the way it goes to Nora

:29:35. > :29:39.Berge. With an hour and a half played, Jayne Ludlow would have

:29:40. > :29:44.taken this any day of the week. A very accomplished performance by

:29:45. > :29:46.Wales, a couple of bad results, the Kazakhstan game give them a bit of

:29:47. > :29:54.confidence and Norway are struggling to create any clear-cut chances.

:29:55. > :30:19.Stensland. Good play from Sophie Ingle. Fantastic tackle, great

:30:20. > :30:27.timing. Kayleigh Green fancies the sprint again. Then she goes, it is a

:30:28. > :30:37.foul. Definite foul. She such a strong player. Looks as if it is a

:30:38. > :30:44.yellow card as well. It's a yellow for Nora Berge.

:30:45. > :30:55.She was caught napping, 48 caps, plays for Bayern Munich. This is a

:30:56. > :31:01.chance for Wales. The first booking of the game but more importantly

:31:02. > :31:05.free kick. Chance to get the ball into the penalty area. We need a

:31:06. > :31:16.good delivery here, get some bodies in the box. Evans will take.

:31:17. > :31:29.Kayleigh Green is in their, so to Helen Ward and Fishlock. Harding.

:31:30. > :31:37.It's a throw. Looked as if that was a training ground set piece but it

:31:38. > :31:42.didn't quite come off unfortunately. It will be a long throw from Harding

:31:43. > :31:54.as she rubs the ball on her shirt. Get the grip. And it comes. Decent

:31:55. > :31:59.one in towards Kayleigh Green. Wales again just cannot make Norway play.

:32:00. > :32:07.Kayleigh Green certainly getting stuck in, enjoying making the runs

:32:08. > :32:08.behind the defenders. Norway not having it all their own way at the

:32:09. > :32:27.moment. Lund. The ball played toward Skinner, good

:32:28. > :32:33.catch. Confident goalkeeping again from the debutante. In terms of her

:32:34. > :32:44.first start. Great take, she's looked very accomplished.

:32:45. > :32:53.Wales in trouble here, huge gaps in the penalty area. It wasn't too far

:32:54. > :33:03.away. Kristine Minde saw the opportunity. Norway are going to

:33:04. > :33:07.make a change. Almost took the lead. Once again Roberts got caught in the

:33:08. > :33:15.right back position. They are having a lot of joy down the left-hand

:33:16. > :33:18.side, that was dangerous. Two midfield substitutions. Emilie Haavi

:33:19. > :33:57.coming on. Two changes. That shows, there has

:33:58. > :34:02.been a big thing... Claire Skinner has been penalised, it caught

:34:03. > :34:08.everyone by surprise, for time wasting. I have to say, that seems

:34:09. > :34:16.harsh. Very harsh, we don't want to waste time because we want to win

:34:17. > :34:18.the game. Norway making a couple of changes and that says a lot about

:34:19. > :34:27.the performance of Wales. Harding trying to get behind the

:34:28. > :35:18.Norway defence. Hegerberg. Wells of God to be

:35:19. > :35:25.careful, low Drive, good save from Skinner. --

:35:26. > :35:36.great build-up from Norway, select passing. -- slick passing.

:35:37. > :35:42.Goalkeeper made a good save. Wales, with James charging forward. She has

:35:43. > :35:52.options but could go it alone, Harding, it hits the bar! What a

:35:53. > :35:59.chance that was! It was Kayleigh Green chipping the ball and hit the

:36:00. > :36:02.crossbar. Great drive from James and a great pass, great strength,

:36:03. > :36:08.unfortunately just clipping the crossbar. It needed the touch from

:36:09. > :36:15.the goalkeeper but Kayleigh Green almost gave Wales bullied. My

:36:16. > :36:22.goodness, Wales are really giving it a good go here -- almost gave Wales

:36:23. > :36:26.the lead. This would be a great time to score. Norway are on the ropes.

:36:27. > :36:36.It codes towards Kayleigh Green but she can't get her head on it. Wales

:36:37. > :36:40.need to keep the ball down the side of the field now, keep the pressure

:36:41. > :36:48.on Norway. They are looking a bit ropey. This was the chance, touch

:36:49. > :36:56.from the keeper and hit the bar. The Welsh bench thought it was in. This

:36:57. > :37:03.has been a great display so far you have to say, from Jayne Ludlow's

:37:04. > :37:08.site. Fishlock wins it back. Kayleigh Green, in towards Fishlock,

:37:09. > :37:21.James there as well. Norway are under the cosh. And Wales can sense

:37:22. > :37:25.that Norway are under the cosh. Blatant tug of the short on Jess

:37:26. > :37:32.Fishlock, she was very upset and rightly so.

:37:33. > :37:45.Harding to take the throw. It's another long one.

:37:46. > :38:03.Ingrid Moe Wold was booked for the tug of the short on Fishlock, the

:38:04. > :38:07.referee saw it but played advantage. In towards Hegerberg, that's the

:38:08. > :38:13.header and that's the goal! That is the danger Norway possess! The

:38:14. > :38:20.header from Hegerberg and Wales, who have fought so hard I know 1-0 down.

:38:21. > :38:25.Skinner has her head in her hands. But Hegerberg celebrates. Again

:38:26. > :38:31.coming from the left-hand side, great ball in and at the far post,

:38:32. > :38:40.the experience again. Vital goal for Norway. Such a shame. It's so cruel.

:38:41. > :38:46.Just look at the expression from Jayne Ludlow. Even smiling. She

:38:47. > :38:54.knows how well her team have done. But we said it didn't we? Hegerberg

:38:55. > :38:57.was the danger. When you have experienced teams like this this is

:38:58. > :39:09.what they do, play for 69 minutes and don't create much but when it

:39:10. > :39:17.comes they take their opportunities. Don't think you can grumble too much

:39:18. > :39:24.about the finish. Strikers header. We just hope Wales can bounce back

:39:25. > :39:26.from this. Norway have the lead. If it stays like this that will be the

:39:27. > :39:48.end of Wales qualification hopes. Character needed now, self belief

:39:49. > :39:51.needed now from Wales to get back into this game, and maybe a change

:39:52. > :40:19.or two from the bench as well. Norway now they have been in a game.

:40:20. > :40:27.Still time for Wales to draw level. Maren Mjelde, the captain, towards

:40:28. > :40:34.Hegerberg, the goal-scorer. Norway being very patient, just moving the

:40:35. > :41:06.ball around. This could be a corner for Norway.

:41:07. > :41:10.Evans had to make the header. Wales stayed off, didn't put any pressure

:41:11. > :41:13.on the ball. They are tired and disappointed but we need to go

:41:14. > :41:20.again, don't want to concede another goal. Wales about to make another

:41:21. > :41:26.change but there is time for the corner before the change happens.

:41:27. > :41:36.From the looks of it it will be Rachel Rowe coming on. Norway are

:41:37. > :41:43.taking their time. Then it comes. Hegerberg again. Little flick on.

:41:44. > :41:50.Hit her full on in the face. Those out for the goalkick. Time possibly

:41:51. > :41:57.for Wales to make the change. Let's go back to Rachel. That's such a

:41:58. > :42:02.blow isn't it because it felt like Wales had stepped things up? Yes,

:42:03. > :42:08.tough to take. I think after the first ten minutes it was a bit

:42:09. > :42:11.lacklustre. But then to have a chance hitting the crossbar, thought

:42:12. > :42:17.it was in but we didn't deal with across very well, the cross in,

:42:18. > :42:22.didn't deal with it and they got the goal. I

:42:23. > :42:32.what do Wales need to do now? I am glad to see a change, get some fresh

:42:33. > :42:41.legs on so they can push for the equaliser. Thank you. Rachel Rowe

:42:42. > :42:45.coming on in place of Roberts. Not sure if that will mean a formation

:42:46. > :42:54.change or whether it will be like for like. Seems to be a straight

:42:55. > :43:01.swap. The sort of change needed at this time? It's a defensive change?

:43:02. > :43:05.We need some creativity up there. Kayleigh Green, it's hard work up

:43:06. > :43:12.there on your own as a striker, we need a bit more forward play I

:43:13. > :43:16.think. Football can be such a cruel game. Kayleigh Green came so close.

:43:17. > :43:52.But it was Hegerberg for this is better from Wales. A bit of

:43:53. > :43:56.mis-control, not like our. We just need to try to contain them, keep

:43:57. > :44:04.the ball when we got it and try to make some attacking runs if we can.

:44:05. > :44:11.Wales have just over a quarter of an hour to rescue their hopes of Euro

:44:12. > :44:19.2016. It was always a work in progress as a project for Jayne

:44:20. > :44:23.Ludlow and her young side. We can forget how experienced Norway are

:44:24. > :44:26.and how many times they have qualified for major championships.

:44:27. > :44:27.This was always going to be a tough asked but the girls have done

:44:28. > :44:50.themselves proud. Route one now from Wales. Just need

:44:51. > :45:01.to get the ball close to the penalty area.

:45:02. > :45:19.Here she goes, the goal-scorer, hacked down by James.

:45:20. > :45:41.Many of these Norwegian players are professionals. They play for the

:45:42. > :45:46.likes of Bayern Munich, Hegerberg, the goal-scorer, for Olympique

:45:47. > :45:48.Lyonnais. A handful of Welsh players can say that. Jess Fishlock is one

:45:49. > :46:12.of them. Great support here in Newport. It's

:46:13. > :46:16.a great family evening out. The girls are played very well and it's

:46:17. > :46:23.nice for everyone to kick off the Euros with a spectacle of this

:46:24. > :46:28.calibre. Whatever happens against Slovakia on Saturday, we wanted a

:46:29. > :46:35.party to kick started here but if they are not careful they could

:46:36. > :46:43.concede again. I think that was a foul on Lawrence, the referee

:46:44. > :46:54.ignored it which was a shame. Skin with the goalkick. Just a reminder,

:46:55. > :47:05.that game, Wales against Slovakia live on BBC Two Wales. What a game

:47:06. > :47:16.in store. Fishlock did not see the player

:47:17. > :47:35.behind her. Tired legs now. Yes, we do little

:47:36. > :47:40.bit tired, it's very hot out there and it's hard work chasing the ball.

:47:41. > :47:43.Norway keeping possession, very comfortable on the ball, taking

:47:44. > :47:56.their time and it is harder for us to win it back. James battling for

:47:57. > :47:58.it. If Wales could just get the draw from this game it would do so much

:47:59. > :48:16.for their confidence. Up towards Hegerberg, offside. About

:48:17. > :48:23.a yard. Sophie Ingle, her hand went straight up in the air, she knew she

:48:24. > :48:28.was offside. Well done. Norway are passing the ball with great ease,

:48:29. > :48:31.and that will be a source of great frustration for Wales who may well

:48:32. > :48:40.make another change. It looks as though they are. Looks as though

:48:41. > :48:44.Chloe Chivers is coming on soon. Another youngster, 17 years of age.

:48:45. > :48:53.That's something Jayne Ludlow prides herself on. Bringing these young

:48:54. > :49:00.players into the fold. These are the games you never forget. So young,

:49:01. > :49:05.playing in the senior women's team, she will cherish these moments I'm

:49:06. > :49:16.sure. Looks as though it's Helen Ward that is coming off. Norway

:49:17. > :49:20.quite happy to just sit and keep the ball, stay in their own half, not

:49:21. > :49:29.too bothered about getting forward at the moment. This is a chance for

:49:30. > :49:41.Wales through James, too many options. Norway just eat up the

:49:42. > :49:50.possession. But it's still finely balanced. In terms of the scoreline.

:49:51. > :49:55.Hegerberg has an eye for goal, might shoot, well that's a splendid goal.

:49:56. > :50:02.You have to say. That was a call of international class, nothing Claire

:50:03. > :50:12.Skinner could do about it. It moved in the air. Norway have a 2-0 lead

:50:13. > :50:17.and the Welsh Euro dream is over. Great strike, great vision, finished

:50:18. > :50:21.it well. But again, no pressure on the ball leading up to that shot

:50:22. > :50:34.which is a great shame, but a quality finish. Here comes the

:50:35. > :50:41.change, Chloe Chivers for Helen Ward. But Hegerberg has been the

:50:42. > :50:48.difference in this game. A brace of goals, ahead and then splendid

:50:49. > :50:52.effort. Again, you can't buy experience and she is extremely

:50:53. > :51:10.experienced. She has represented her country very well tonight.

:51:11. > :51:23.It would be a shame if more goals go in, Wales have fought so hard.

:51:24. > :51:28.Sliding tackle. Skinner comes to collect. Important for clearer skin

:51:29. > :51:39.are not to have hard head down. Yes, it can be the model lies in but we

:51:40. > :51:45.held them for so long, you can't, you Norway unfortunately pulling

:51:46. > :51:49.through in the end. Just to put this in some sort of context. It will

:51:50. > :51:57.mean the end of the Welsh qualification hopes for the

:51:58. > :52:01.Netherlands next year. Austria and Norway were always going to be the

:52:02. > :52:07.top two teams, in terms of seeding in the grip. And that's proved to be

:52:08. > :52:12.the case. It does take time to rebuild a squad. Some of these

:52:13. > :52:17.players are extremely young, no international experience. Only at

:52:18. > :52:19.junior level. They can take heart from the last 20 months and build

:52:20. > :53:00.for the next two or three years. Useful run from Emilie Haavi. Long

:53:01. > :53:04.distance shot. And have the quality of the strike from Hegerberg but she

:53:05. > :53:16.fancied her chances. There will be another change for Wales. Kylie

:53:17. > :53:28.Nolan coming on Fernando Alonso. -- for Nadi Laurents -- for Lawrence.

:53:29. > :53:34.Regular for the under 17 side. Another part of the Jayne Ludlow

:53:35. > :53:37.project for Wales. I am pleased for Lawrence, she's been in the system

:53:38. > :53:41.for a couple of years and works really hard so it's nice for her to

:53:42. > :53:58.get a good 80 minutes. Norway are going to make a change as well. It's

:53:59. > :54:05.going to be coming. All right finishing strongly now. Norway

:54:06. > :54:11.competing with Austria to finish top of the group. To be honest, second

:54:12. > :54:19.place in this group will likely be enough to take you to the

:54:20. > :54:21.Netherlands. But for Wales, two home games after this, and the chance to

:54:22. > :54:44.finish strongly. Must be a tough job for Jayne

:54:45. > :54:48.Ludlow. Because still a developing game, women's football, in Wales.

:54:49. > :54:55.Certainly when you compare it to the time you played, there has been a

:54:56. > :54:59.lot of developments since then. Huge development, I think, the Women's

:55:00. > :55:03.Super League has enhanced the quality of the football, more

:55:04. > :55:08.players can go semiprofessional or professional. At the end of the day

:55:09. > :55:12.we need to galvanise the girls into continuing to be inspired to try and

:55:13. > :55:19.play the game and get to the tournaments. That the aim. The aim

:55:20. > :55:33.here this afternoon is to finish by not conceding any more goal.

:55:34. > :55:40.Good passing side, Norway, always looking for the next team-mate.

:55:41. > :55:50.Technically they are very strong, and physically as well. They are

:55:51. > :55:59.vastly experienced. It is a throw. The full-back. Doesn't have much

:56:00. > :56:10.support. The sun continues to shine here. Wales just can't get hold of

:56:11. > :56:23.the ball in these final stages. Jess Fishlock picks it up. Rachel Rowe.

:56:24. > :56:27.In fact it's James who is down and limping a little. Yes, she was

:56:28. > :56:38.caught late but she's a tough cookie so she's and running. She will be an

:56:39. > :56:46.important figure, played for Bristol Academy of course under Mark

:56:47. > :56:50.Sampson, the England coach. I like to remind him of his Welsh

:56:51. > :56:59.connections, he's a Welshman at heart. Definitely but he does sing

:57:00. > :57:03.the English anthem. That England side that got to the semifinals of

:57:04. > :57:05.the World Cup did so much for the women's game and Mark was the

:57:06. > :57:18.orchestrator of all that. Wales finishing sloppily here, just

:57:19. > :57:26.can't seem to get a hold of the ball. Kayleigh Green is isolated up

:57:27. > :57:35.there on her own and she will be tired as well. Free kick, not a

:57:36. > :57:42.penalty. We both gasped, it looked like it could have been either or

:57:43. > :57:47.from the referee. Rachel Rowe did not could see the penalty. Claire

:57:48. > :57:57.Skinner will take the goalkick. Final stages now. Cathy Morgan, a

:57:58. > :58:01.lot of positives despite the result? Definitely, for a large parts of the

:58:02. > :58:06.game Wales have done very well, created a lot of opportunities, some

:58:07. > :58:10.good individual performances but unfortunately the quality has told

:58:11. > :58:17.in the end with the experience of a very established Norwegian team. Can

:58:18. > :58:18.Wales finish strongly? Just went under the feet of Rachel Rowe and

:58:19. > :58:41.it's a Norwegian throw. Job done for Norway, but they

:58:42. > :58:45.haven't had it all their own way. Certainly in periods, defensively

:58:46. > :58:50.they were a bit shaky and they were tentative when we were going

:58:51. > :59:08.forward. But you know again you can't buy experience.

:59:09. > :59:20.50 caps for Tash Harding. It will be a tinge of disappointment, when you

:59:21. > :59:27.consider the result. But what next for these girls? Obviously now they

:59:28. > :59:32.have got two home games in September and they will look to have two good

:59:33. > :59:35.performances and just continue to build, work together, have training

:59:36. > :00:00.camps for the next campaign. Three minutes of injury time to be

:00:01. > :00:09.played. Three minutes left for Wales to salvage something.

:00:10. > :00:17.Fishlock is competitive to the last. That is what you're going to get

:00:18. > :00:18.from Jess, fair play, she is passionate about playing for Wales

:00:19. > :00:37.and will die for the cause. Surely not a third? And Skinner was

:00:38. > :00:41.up to the task at least. Well the finish wasn't there. We can't

:00:42. > :00:46.concede now with only two minutes to go. We need to keep everything as

:00:47. > :00:57.tight as possible. 2-0 is respectable enough.

:00:58. > :01:09.Sloppy control. Wales on the other hand, the break through near with

:01:10. > :01:15.Nolan. Green seems to have hurt her hamstring in that challenge. She is

:01:16. > :01:21.limping. That will be a concern to Kelly Green. Nolan getting stuck in.

:01:22. > :01:29.Well just a chance for red shirts to get forward here. Green just trying

:01:30. > :01:31.to run off this injury. If it is a hamstring. But it is hard to do

:01:32. > :01:46.that. Played up to the area. And it is a

:01:47. > :01:56.corner. And a chance to finish strongly now. Great ball in. Just

:01:57. > :01:58.defender there just flicked it out of the way for the corner. Let's see

:01:59. > :02:12.if we can finish strong here. The corner didn't make to it

:02:13. > :02:16.Fishlock and that sums up the latter part of this second half. That is

:02:17. > :02:28.disappointing from Sophie, technically she is very good. Not

:02:29. > :02:33.sure what happened there. Well as we approach the final whistle, how have

:02:34. > :02:41.you enjoyed your TV debut, Kath. A bit out of my comfort zone, but you

:02:42. > :02:45.have made me very welcome. I'm as new to this as you. I would love to

:02:46. > :02:54.see a Wales goal. That may be the last attempt of the game. They're in

:02:55. > :02:58.no rush to take this goal kick. It is job done. They have come here and

:02:59. > :03:02.done a very professional performance and they have sorted out now that

:03:03. > :03:11.they will be going to the Euros themselves. Shame for Wales, but we

:03:12. > :03:16.can be very proud of ourselves. The dream of the European Championship

:03:17. > :03:24.is over for Wales and for Jayne Ludlow. Hegerberg the difference for

:03:25. > :03:31.Norway with a brace of goals. But for Wales, they can hold their heads

:03:32. > :03:35.high. They may not be going to the Netherlands, but they have really

:03:36. > :03:41.given one of the best teams in women's football a real game and a

:03:42. > :03:45.half. But it just wasn't to be. Wales are not going to Euro 2017. It

:03:46. > :04:00.has finished Wales 0, Norway 2. Well they knew they had to win this

:04:01. > :04:08.one, Wales, the pressure was really on as Natasha Harding got her 50th

:04:09. > :04:13.cap, but what she wanted was a win. The best chance was through Green.

:04:14. > :04:18.And then Hegerberg, such a threat all game. Opening the scoring for

:04:19. > :04:25.Norway. Then Hegerberg with so much space to score a second and kill off

:04:26. > :04:33.Welsh hopes of qualifying for Euro 2017. Heartache in the end for

:04:34. > :04:40.Wales. And confirmation that Wales' Euro hopes are over. This is the

:04:41. > :04:44.table. Wales are stuck in third place with two games to play and

:04:45. > :04:54.Norway themselves with one foot in the finals after their win. Its all

:04:55. > :04:56.over for Wales. Well lugely disappoint -- hugely disappointing

:04:57. > :05:04.for Wales. You know how they will be feeling now. Yes devastated for the

:05:05. > :05:09.girls. We have been in this situation a few times. I spoke to

:05:10. > :05:12.you before, we had a game in Switzerland that we lost and I

:05:13. > :05:17.remember feeling heartbroken, that is what the girls will be feeling

:05:18. > :05:21.now. I'm gutted for them. Was there anything that they could have done

:05:22. > :05:26.better. They had so many promising opportunities and you felt it could

:05:27. > :05:32.have been their day today. They had a couple of chances and good

:05:33. > :05:36.chances. I was impressed with Kayleigh Green up front. I thought

:05:37. > :05:42.we could have been tighter at the back and stopped that cross that

:05:43. > :05:48.sort of was the hammer blow. What will Jayne Ludlow be saying to her

:05:49. > :05:51.players? We see the Norway team celebrating and the Wales team still

:05:52. > :05:57.out there. Jayne Ludlow chatting to them. What will she be saying so

:05:58. > :06:04.them? Well I think Jane understands how it feels. Being a former player.

:06:05. > :06:11.He will be explaining to them they can go again. It is going to be hard

:06:12. > :06:16.for her as well. She is going to have to pick up her players for the

:06:17. > :06:22.final games. We saw right throughout the first half, Norway having plenty

:06:23. > :06:25.of opportunities. And this lady here who you're seeing, Hegerberg having

:06:26. > :06:32.plenty of the ball and threatening to score and then second half that

:06:33. > :06:36.is what she did. What did Wales do wrong? We were too deep. You can see

:06:37. > :06:43.from the cross, there was no pressure. Which allowed her to get a

:06:44. > :06:50.header and that was a great finish. A great header. With the second

:06:51. > :06:54.goal, perhaps too much space. The Welsh defence are backing off? Yes

:06:55. > :06:59.not getting touch tight. I can understand it is a hot day and the

:07:00. > :07:03.girls were feeling a bit tired. We can't allow a player of that quality

:07:04. > :07:11.to turn and not put any pressure on her. She has her head up. It was a

:07:12. > :07:16.great firn. -- finish. We will see the opportunity that Wales had as

:07:17. > :07:19.well with Green hitting the bar. Perhaps if that had gone in. It

:07:20. > :07:26.might have been a different story. We jumped up. We thought that was

:07:27. > :07:32.in. It was a good counterattack. Jones was outstanding. She burst

:07:33. > :07:37.through the middle. I was impressed with Kayleigh Green. She made the

:07:38. > :07:40.defenders' life tough and put them under pressure and didn't stop

:07:41. > :07:44.running. I thought she deserved a goal. This is the moment where we

:07:45. > :07:50.jumped up and hearts were in mouths. You thought Wales had got the break

:07:51. > :07:54.through. I thought Angharad should have shot. But Kayleigh took it

:07:55. > :07:58.early that probably made it more difficult for the keeper. But it was

:07:59. > :08:05.a great touch on to the bar. I thought which were unfortunate not

:08:06. > :08:11.to score. Let's get more ereaction from -- reaction from Kath Morgan.

:08:12. > :08:18.We can't speak to the players now. But cruel, very cruel tonight? Yes

:08:19. > :08:25.it was a fantastic performance. They held the Norwegians for so long, but

:08:26. > :08:33.experience told. Norway know how to manage games. Wales can be proud. I

:08:34. > :08:38.can sigh Jess Fishlock, I think she is coming over to us. A very

:08:39. > :08:46.dejected Jess Fishlock. Do you want to come in here? That was a very

:08:47. > :08:49.tough draw. Yes, I think especially after the first half, I think that

:08:50. > :08:56.we were the better team and created a lot of chances and we were in it

:08:57. > :09:01.for 60, 65 minutes and against a team like Norway, it says a lot

:09:02. > :09:05.about us. But it is just, we need to keep in it for 90. That is the

:09:06. > :09:10.unfortunate thing for us. So many positives to take from that game.

:09:11. > :09:13.Obviously we are disappointed, but looking forward at looking at the

:09:14. > :09:18.bigger picture, there is loads of positives. Thanks ever so much,

:09:19. > :09:24.Jess. Positives that they will try to take out of the game. But it is

:09:25. > :09:30.difficult Wen you have suffered that Kyne of defeat to feel positive.

:09:31. > :09:34.Now, it will be tough and the girls will be feeling really disheartened.

:09:35. > :09:39.But like Jess said, I think they can take the positives out of it. Norway

:09:40. > :09:43.are a quality side and Wales matched them to be fair they had the better

:09:44. > :09:49.chances at one stage of the game. And looking to the future, the focus

:09:50. > :09:54.will turn to 2019 World Cup. What needs to happen. Does anything need

:09:55. > :09:57.to change to get Wales closer? I think obviously Jane will look at

:09:58. > :10:01.that, she will look at what is needed in terms of the squad and

:10:02. > :10:05.what positions we need to strengthen. And I'm sure she will

:10:06. > :10:10.make sure she does her utmost to make sure we have a good chance of

:10:11. > :10:16.qualifying the. They need to keep their best players as part of the

:10:17. > :10:21.squad. Do you see anyone deciding to call it a day. Or do you think the

:10:22. > :10:25.key players will keep going. I think they will carry on. They're still

:10:26. > :10:30.young in comparison to me I think. But they will want to try and push

:10:31. > :10:37.on and try to qualify. So I don't see that happening. We hope they can

:10:38. > :10:41.break that duck and get to a major Championship in the not too distant

:10:42. > :10:49.future. Thank you Sheryl for being us with. All eyes then on France.

:10:50. > :10:56.Cancel all other plans you may have had for Saturday. Because the big

:10:57. > :11:03.one is coming up. Good luck to Chris Coleman's team as they play Slovakia

:11:04. > :11:06.in Bordeaux. But the European dream is over for the women's team. From

:11:07. > :11:32.all of us, goodbye for now. This woman is doing

:11:33. > :11:35.this amazing thing - in the way which a mother might

:11:36. > :11:46.be in love with a daughter. The story of the world's

:11:47. > :11:49.most famous gorilla She's been on the cover of

:11:50. > :11:52.National Geographic twice. A remarkable relationship captured
