0:00:40 > 0:00:44Hello, everyone, welcome to Potters, its quarterfinals day in the open

0:00:44 > 0:00:47singles so we have only eight players left the chance of winning

0:00:47 > 0:00:51the most coveted prize in the sport. For some it has been smooth progress

0:00:51 > 0:00:59and others bumpy ride. This year we have lost so the big

0:00:59 > 0:01:03seeds early doors, well played on the guys that have won and got

0:01:03 > 0:01:13through.It's unusual we have lost so many big names so early.Anyone

0:01:13 > 0:01:21can win the games, if not unfortunately you are going home.

0:01:21 > 0:01:26Quarterfinals is the turning point, if you can get through that one you

0:01:26 > 0:01:35are into the business end of the tournament.

0:01:40 > 0:01:44Here are the eight players left in this year's tournament. Jason

0:01:44 > 0:01:47Greenslade and Darren Burnett, Mervyn King and Robert Paxton, Wayne

0:01:47 > 0:01:51Willgress and Greg Harlow, but we will kick things off by showing you

0:01:51 > 0:01:53what happened in the first quarterfinal of the day which took

0:01:53 > 0:01:54what happened in the first quarterfinal of the day which took

0:01:54 > 0:01:57place this morning when Mark Dawes, world number 12, took on Mark Royal

0:01:57 > 0:02:00ranked one place lower.

0:02:00 > 0:02:01world number 12, took on Mark Royal ranked one place lower.

0:02:02 > 0:02:07This was Royal's 16th appearance in the world singles, his best

0:02:07 > 0:02:10appearance in 2011 in the semifinals, whereas Dawes never got

0:02:10 > 0:02:14past the second round in his previous three appearances. Dawes

0:02:14 > 0:02:18built a three shot lead after the first two ends only for Royal to

0:02:18 > 0:02:22come back to level the scores and in the fifth end Dawes came up with a

0:02:22 > 0:02:28lovely final bolt to snatch three. But again Royal struck back in the

0:02:28 > 0:02:31next end, the 43-year-old from Stowmarket producing a double with

0:02:31 > 0:02:38his final bowl. So, going into the last end of this set the scores were

0:02:38 > 0:02:43level at 7-7 and Dawes managed to get over the line drawing a single

0:02:43 > 0:02:48with his fourth bowl which Royal could not better. Royal kicked off

0:02:48 > 0:02:51the second set with a double but after that it was all one-way

0:02:51 > 0:02:54traffic for Dawes, the Lancashire man had this draw in the third end

0:02:54 > 0:03:00to collect two double. And in the next end he came away with a triple

0:03:00 > 0:03:04after Royal got a terrible break from this runner to leave Dawes with

0:03:04 > 0:03:10a four shot lead after four ends. By now Dawes was in relentless form and

0:03:10 > 0:03:14continued to pile on the pressure with singles in the next three end

0:03:14 > 0:03:17this, which ultimately forced Royal into submission in the eighth end.

0:03:17 > 0:03:21Mark Dawes, through to the semis, where he will face either Jason

0:03:21 > 0:03:26Greenslade or Darren Burnett. Mark Dawes tipped yesterday by one of our

0:03:26 > 0:03:33experts on the BBC is the first player through to Bisegni finals. --

0:03:33 > 0:03:37to the semifinals. Here is said expert, John Price standing next to

0:03:37 > 0:03:40me on the rink. You must have been really impressed once again by just

0:03:40 > 0:03:46how consistent Mark Dawes was today. He was a close in the first

0:03:46 > 0:03:47how consistent Mark Dawes was today. He was a close in the first set but

0:03:47 > 0:03:50excellent in the second of bad luck for Mark Royal but he was the better

0:03:50 > 0:03:54player overall and has shown great maturity. You must be feeling good

0:03:54 > 0:03:59about your selection.I don't get many right but I got that one right.

0:03:59 > 0:04:02The other matches, Mervyn King Higgins Robert Paxton, quality on

0:04:02 > 0:04:07both sides of the match.I think it will be very close, Mervyn is

0:04:07 > 0:04:10drawing well but Robert has a great all-round game, I would not want to

0:04:10 > 0:04:14call that one and I will stay on the fence but a great game.Wayne

0:04:14 > 0:04:17Willgress against world number one Greg Harlow, you cover the match

0:04:17 > 0:04:21last night in which Wayne in the ditch Stewart Anderson in front of

0:04:21 > 0:04:25an easier stick crowd.Anybody here would have enjoyed that, it's what

0:04:25 > 0:04:29all bowls is about at this level, fantastic evening, Graeme Bowles by

0:04:29 > 0:04:33both players and Wayne came through at the end, wonderful shots, turning

0:04:33 > 0:04:37the jack for four hours. We will talk about that later but now

0:04:37 > 0:04:38the jack for four hours. We will talk about that later but now it's

0:04:38 > 0:04:41the match between Jason Greenslade and Darren Burnett, the former

0:04:41 > 0:04:44champion at Potters, some of you may remember Jason spoke about losing

0:04:44 > 0:04:48his dad late last year earlier in the week, so he has plenty to play

0:04:48 > 0:04:55for on a personal level.

0:04:55 > 0:05:01I have had a hard couple of years. My game has not been great, I have

0:05:01 > 0:05:05not really played well, haven't practised a lot. My head and my time

0:05:05 > 0:05:16of being with my dad. But now I feel as if I've put in enough time and my

0:05:16 > 0:05:21game is at a nice place, I think. I've been speaking to my daughter

0:05:21 > 0:05:25every day and she really wants me to win because she wants me to buy this

0:05:25 > 0:05:39very expensive dog, I think it is a carapoo

0:05:39 > 0:05:44carapoo or a multipoo, so I've got to win. She'd love to walk on the

0:05:44 > 0:05:51green with me at the start of the game. She's not shy, nothing like

0:05:51 > 0:06:01me. She loves crowds and chatting. The plan is hopefully if I can win

0:06:01 > 0:06:07in the quarterfinals my wife, my mum and my daughter is going to travel

0:06:07 > 0:06:11up.Quarterfinal of the World Championships is obviously a huge

0:06:11 > 0:06:16match, Jason Greenslade has been playing well, he came into the event

0:06:16 > 0:06:19having slipped down the rankings and we'd all be under pressure if we

0:06:19 > 0:06:23were down where he was but he's played really well, done very little

0:06:23 > 0:06:29wrong, so Jason could be unpredictable to play, he is capable

0:06:29 > 0:06:33of drawing and also capable of attacking early. I think it will be

0:06:33 > 0:06:39an interesting game. The key will be getting the first two bowls as close

0:06:39 > 0:06:42as I can and forced Jason into playing an attacking game. I've been

0:06:42 > 0:06:48quite relaxed this year.

0:06:48 > 0:06:51quite relaxed this year. Unaware the last time I won the Championships in

0:06:51 > 0:06:55Glasgow. I'm not putting any pressure on myself but it would be

0:06:55 > 0:07:00great to have another great run like that here so close to the

0:07:00 > 0:07:06Commonwealth Games where your form can be up-and-down in this sport

0:07:06 > 0:07:11like any sport so one or two wins and your confidence is sky high.A

0:07:11 > 0:07:15couple of good wins for Darren Burnett so far, this is how both

0:07:15 > 0:07:15players got

0:07:15 > 0:07:17Burnett so far, this is how both players got to today's

0:07:17 > 0:07:20quarterfinals, Jason defeated Robert Gordon in the first round and

0:07:20 > 0:07:23defending champion Paul Foster in round two. Darren Bennett overcame

0:07:23 > 0:07:29Graham McKee in the first round and Jamie Chestney in the second.

0:07:29 > 0:07:32Two players who know what it is like to be here and two players who have

0:07:32 > 0:07:35gone deep in this tournament and other major international

0:07:35 > 0:07:43tournaments. What can we expect from both?Good drawing bowls, they can

0:07:43 > 0:07:45both play shots, players looking to take opportunities and an aggressive

0:07:45 > 0:07:50game so it should be a good match for the crowd.Who will be more

0:07:50 > 0:07:53aggressive? You spoke about Jason not being afraid to take a chance.

0:07:53 > 0:07:58He will take a chance, he can be but he's drawing well, so both players

0:07:58 > 0:08:02will play a character leading gay but he will take an opportunity if

0:08:02 > 0:08:13it presents itself -- will play and aggressive game.He wants to make an

0:08:13 > 0:08:17impression on this year's tournament.For personal reasons he

0:08:17 > 0:08:20wants to win. Saying that Darren will want to win, he'd like to get

0:08:20 > 0:08:24the second title, both great players so they will both want to do it for

0:08:24 > 0:08:28different reasons. You need to make a prediction. You have been good so

0:08:28 > 0:08:31far this week.If Jason plays as well as he can he has an excellent

0:08:31 > 0:08:35chance of getting over the line but it will be close.Very close. He's

0:08:35 > 0:08:38going to get off the fence any minute now and head up to the

0:08:38 > 0:08:43commentary box. In the meantime we are heading over to our MC Richard

0:08:43 > 0:08:48Bear waiting to introduce the players.

0:08:48 > 0:08:51ANNOUNCER:The warmest of afternoons as you join us at the International

0:08:51 > 0:08:55Arena at Potters Resort where the excitement is fantastic, as it is

0:08:55 > 0:08:58quarterfinals day. Who is going to go through and join Mark Dawes in

0:08:58 > 0:09:04the semis? Without further ado let's get the boys on the blue. This

0:09:04 > 0:09:08steady and consistent player is no stranger to the final stages of a

0:09:08 > 0:09:11world ranking event, a former Scottish Masters and Welsh

0:09:11 > 0:09:16International Open champion, it's the Welsh wizard himself, Mr Jason

0:09:16 > 0:09:26Greenslade.

0:09:38 > 0:09:41And it's always a pleasure to welcome this popular family man from

0:09:41 > 0:09:49Scotland and the only player ever to win all six WBT titles. Ladies and

0:09:49 > 0:09:52gentlemen, the 2014 world indoor singles champion, it's Darren

0:09:52 > 0:09:59Burnett.

0:10:06 > 0:10:10MUSIC: Holding Out for a Hero.

0:10:10 > 0:10:15Don't forget to test our commentary team with your questions and

0:10:15 > 0:10:26predictions, via Twitter using the hashtag BBC bowls. As your queries.

0:10:26 > 0:10:34DAVID CORKILL: GREAT afternoon of bowls ahead of us, always exciting,

0:10:34 > 0:10:46Jason Greenslade sporting a cap for the first time in this event.

0:10:46 > 0:10:49the first time in this event. Just decided that the world singles was

0:10:49 > 0:10:57the time to introduce a cap. He thinks it's better for his

0:10:57 > 0:11:08concentration, Gibson that bit of tunnel vision.

0:11:10 > 0:11:15Just giving John Price and all two after hightailing it up stairs into

0:11:15 > 0:11:25the commentary position. We have said it many times, haven't we? The

0:11:25 > 0:11:31thing about Jason is he is unpredictable, he is a maverick on

0:11:31 > 0:11:35the green. You just don't know what you are going to get. That's a

0:11:35 > 0:11:38slight problem for his opposition because sometimes they are covering

0:11:38 > 0:11:43things and in reality he plays the exact opposite. That is the case,

0:11:43 > 0:11:46sometimes you've got to play your own game against Jason, don't get

0:11:46 > 0:11:51wrapped up in what he's going to do too much. Darren will know him well

0:11:51 > 0:11:55and he is a top-class player, his record is remarkable indoors and

0:11:55 > 0:11:59outdoors. Sometimes he gets overlooked, when you get Alex

0:11:59 > 0:12:03Marshall and Paul Foster up there but Darren is on a par and a

0:12:03 > 0:12:06tremendous competitor and fighter so he will know all about Jason. It

0:12:06 > 0:12:10will be very close but Jason is a bit of a roll and he's getting his

0:12:10 > 0:12:20form back and we know he has the talent to beat anybody.

0:12:20 > 0:12:25talent to beat anybody. You have to work very hard to score shots

0:12:25 > 0:12:32against him, he doesn't give them away too readily, barely plays bad

0:12:32 > 0:12:36ends.Some players have a bad end and they lose a tree or a fall but

0:12:36 > 0:12:42that's not the case with Darren.

0:12:50 > 0:12:59Wonderful second delivery by Darren Burnett. Just to underline his

0:12:59 > 0:13:04talents.

0:13:44 > 0:13:52Darren Burnett onto the other side, his forehand, dropping back. On fire

0:13:52 > 0:13:58on the first end, brilliant bowls.

0:14:21 > 0:14:29Time-out called. Jason has four time-outs remaining.

0:14:31 > 0:14:35Jason must be a little bit careful here, John. But he will want to

0:14:35 > 0:14:40reach into it to get into there. But if he gets the front ball onto the

0:14:40 > 0:14:46jack and stops the green one he could be a number of shots down.

0:14:46 > 0:14:49He's already two down, I don't think it will be an awful lot worse but

0:14:49 > 0:14:52there is another bowl to come.He doesn't really have a choice, is got

0:14:52 > 0:14:56to play down them, or on the draw, could blow something more if he

0:14:56 > 0:15:02wished.It's just on the draw, that's the way to play it, just

0:15:02 > 0:15:07trying to arrive at it so if he picks up the jack heap takes it with

0:15:07 > 0:15:14him. Closer with this one. He needs to hurry. He has a chance of that

0:15:14 > 0:15:20bowl. He played it well.

0:15:21 > 0:15:26bowl. He played it well. -- picks up the jack, he takes it with him. He

0:15:26 > 0:15:31just got a straight and of the front ball.Darren has three balls six

0:15:31 > 0:15:39inches away from the jack and he is shot down. The standard is going to

0:15:39 > 0:15:44be high. That's great news if it is. Darren is attacking. We said they

0:15:44 > 0:15:48would be aggressive, both of these players, he is close.Great result

0:15:48 > 0:15:55on that. What a result that was. He puts his hand up. He was in the area

0:15:55 > 0:16:02and hit the target. Slight apology to Jason for the result. He was bang

0:16:02 > 0:16:07on target.

0:16:09 > 0:16:19on target. Jason will be hoping that's not a sign of things to come.

0:16:21 > 0:16:26Out of the blocks with a runner. I couldn't see three shots.You

0:16:26 > 0:16:30wouldn't have predicted that but in fairness to Darren he was on the

0:16:30 > 0:16:33target looking for something into the front bowls. That was a real

0:16:33 > 0:16:43bonus to get out of it with three shots.

0:17:09 > 0:17:15APPLAUSE

0:17:45 > 0:17:50Ten inches short of jack high.

0:17:50 > 0:17:58He's probably forced Darren to change to his forehand.

0:18:02 > 0:18:09Very comfortable, Darren, changes sides, very confident player.

0:18:09 > 0:18:18sides, very confident player. Good again, looks in good touch.

0:18:18 > 0:18:24again, looks in good touch. In good form, no doubt about that.

0:19:01 > 0:19:06REFEREE:Five inches short of jack high.

0:19:06 > 0:19:09Little bit awkward for Darren, he doesn't want to get to the jack and

0:19:09 > 0:19:19squeeze the jack, got to be very quiet if he's drawing in.

0:19:32 > 0:19:35Really had to be careful, he didn't want to leave the shoulder, so quite

0:19:35 > 0:19:41deliberate to come through a little bit. One thing about Jason is you

0:19:41 > 0:19:46don't have want to leave the shoulder to play-off, he plays it

0:19:46 > 0:19:51with weight and he plays it well. Just trying to get up to the jack on

0:19:51 > 0:20:01the high side of it, on the high wide side. It's propped up. Could be

0:20:01 > 0:20:09the shot. He won't want to get too close to that.

0:20:09 > 0:20:11close to that. That's the thing, Alan Thornhill will just be careful

0:20:11 > 0:20:18here.You would not be surprised to see that ball fall over at any time.

0:20:18 > 0:20:27Leaning onto the jack.

0:20:46 > 0:20:52I think he would have been into that a bit stronger. That's an ideal

0:20:52 > 0:21:01position on his last ball. Jason needs to be careful, he doesn't want

0:21:01 > 0:21:09a bad connection. He could easily go three down.

0:21:34 > 0:21:41Well, we expected the ball to drop at any stage but Darren has wandered

0:21:41 > 0:21:50off for the Matt Burke Jason Greenslade says go in there. --

0:21:50 > 0:22:00wandered off for the mat, but Jason.

0:22:07 > 0:22:12Two very good end is to start with, Darren Burnett and Jason Greenslade

0:22:12 > 0:22:17playing great bowls, just the edge with Darren on the first connection

0:22:17 > 0:22:25on the first end. Jason has done nothing wrong until now.

0:23:00 > 0:23:06Darren Burnett had two tough games in the first round, qualify, Graham

0:23:06 > 0:23:12McKee from Ireland, hovering just outside the top 16, very good

0:23:12 > 0:23:15international player, he qualifies for lots of these events. And Darren

0:23:15 > 0:23:22played Jamie Chestney, who has had a wonderful event. In the other

0:23:22 > 0:23:32disciplines. That was really tough. No easy road to the quarterfinal. It

0:23:32 > 0:23:35hasn't been easier for Jason Greenslade either, Robert Gordon

0:23:35 > 0:23:41from Scotland, qualify and a very good player again. He just got over

0:23:41 > 0:23:49the line against Paul Foster 2-0. 8-7, 8-4. Both players have had

0:23:49 > 0:23:56tough games, and that is good because it sharpens EU.It's much

0:23:56 > 0:24:00better to play good bowls against top players and get through, it

0:24:00 > 0:24:04helps you get along because it's not going to get any easier -- sharpens

0:24:04 > 0:24:10you. Darren Burnett on a very good line here.

0:24:10 > 0:24:13APPLAUSE

0:24:13 > 0:24:23This is what Darren does very well, if the opponent has a loose end he

0:24:23 > 0:24:36will capitalise on it. He very rarely plays a loose end himself.

0:24:38 > 0:24:43This is really close, it needs to drop back. He has. It's close to

0:24:43 > 0:24:57second. A good recovery one.Yes, he has cut its two one.

0:24:57 > 0:25:00has cut its two one. Really Darren Burnett would be quite happy with

0:25:00 > 0:25:06one if he gets to the two read bowls, if he got to the nearest red

0:25:06 > 0:25:08that would be perfect but anything covering the nearest red would be

0:25:08 > 0:25:18perfect. --

0:25:18 > 0:25:26perfect. -- two red bowls.Generally speaking the backhand has been

0:25:26 > 0:25:29avoided most of the time by the players. People might wonder why he

0:25:29 > 0:25:33didn't go with it.Under the circumstances Darren didn't want to

0:25:33 > 0:25:39get back into his own green shot bowl, little chance of doing that on

0:25:39 > 0:25:44the forehand. The problem for Jason is he has not got much choice, one

0:25:44 > 0:25:48second bowl and can't play much weight and remove that so it is

0:25:48 > 0:25:55really a draw for Jason Greenslade. He is playing a runner and taking a

0:25:55 > 0:26:02risk. He doesn't want his own bowl here. He's got it. That was the

0:26:02 > 0:26:07problem.That was never the shot to play, it was just too obvious,

0:26:07 > 0:26:11everything holds off with weight, if that read bowl had been on the

0:26:11 > 0:26:17inside it would have been no problem but you just can't do that. He knows

0:26:17 > 0:26:30it. He was one down and now looking at two out, third one is in and we

0:26:30 > 0:26:33think it is four.If Jason can control that part of his game, the

0:26:33 > 0:26:39natural instinct to attack everything, if he can do that he

0:26:39 > 0:26:42normally does well but that was the wrong choice of shot, too much

0:26:42 > 0:26:50danger. It was just too obvious, John.He knows this rink and knows

0:26:50 > 0:26:55that if you go outside the line it will hold and hold. It looks good if

0:26:55 > 0:27:01you flick into the green bowl and you pick up a couple but the risks

0:27:01 > 0:27:13were 5-0 down or 8-0 down.

0:27:23 > 0:27:30Jason probably asked for that measure to calm himself down a bit.

0:27:30 > 0:27:35He is playing well. It is a definite four so Darren has a very healthy

0:27:35 > 0:27:42lead.

0:28:12 > 0:28:16We are always interested in questions that come through and I

0:28:16 > 0:28:23was asked an interesting one earlier by one of our resident experts, but

0:28:23 > 0:28:28at the same time wasn't quite sure, and that was, could you use four

0:28:28 > 0:28:35different types of bowl but all the same,? They are matched sets, coded

0:28:35 > 0:28:41sets, so that's what the umpires always check for, to make sure that

0:28:41 > 0:28:45all four bowls are made together and checked together and stamped with

0:28:45 > 0:28:51the registration code. -- but all the same colour? As liars they are

0:28:51 > 0:28:59all love one, that is fine -- as long as they are all of one colour.

0:28:59 > 0:29:02They are green and red. When you go to the clubs they are multicoloured,

0:29:02 > 0:29:14in fact, there is a real dolly mixture out there.

0:29:14 > 0:29:22mixture out there. Darren Burnett has his tail up now going for a

0:29:22 > 0:29:27quick finish in this set.

0:29:48 > 0:29:54Super for Jason, no option there.

0:29:59 > 0:30:01The shot bowl is ten inches past jack high.

0:30:01 > 0:30:09No option, no danger.

0:30:09 > 0:30:15No option, no danger. Darren's very good at the running bowl as well.

0:30:20 > 0:30:26So, quarterfinals. Still

0:30:26 > 0:30:29So, quarterfinals. Still over nine ends, which doesn't change until the

0:30:29 > 0:30:34final and then we change it to 11

0:30:34 > 0:30:36Ends.

0:30:51 > 0:30:59A little bit unlucky, it has opened it a little bit for Darren Burnett.

0:30:59 > 0:31:09The jack is now available if he wants to run it. Option on the two

0:31:09 > 0:31:19tuna tartare and the jack clean through. -- the two bowls. Oh, he's

0:31:19 > 0:31:25under.

0:31:25 > 0:31:31That's going to get Jason on the card.

0:31:32 > 0:31:38card.Yes, could do with adding this one, Jason, get a three out of this,

0:31:38 > 0:31:43gets him back into it.Aiming with the forehand. If you touch the jack,

0:31:43 > 0:31:48you can take one away. Better with the backhand, you can take the rest,

0:31:48 > 0:31:51something that enables you to be positive with it without doing any

0:31:51 > 0:31:56damage.

0:31:56 > 0:31:59damage. He is in the area again.

0:32:07 > 0:32:15Looks like he's made it.

0:32:21 > 0:32:27Free shot, Jason Greenslade. Hindsight is a great thing, isn't

0:32:27 > 0:32:34it? That three he picks up makes his last decision very silly.Yes, 5-3

0:32:34 > 0:32:41instead of 8-3. A bad mistake. A Rush of blood to be had, I think,

0:32:41 > 0:32:49but typical Jason!CHUCKLES He's enigmatic, unpredictable. But

0:32:49 > 0:32:59highly entertaining.Yes, with or without the cap.

0:32:59 > 0:33:06without the cap.Jack length, 27 metres.

0:33:55 > 0:34:03Your bowl? 18 inches.

0:34:39 > 0:34:50Nothing too close with the first four bowls.

0:35:06 > 0:35:14This is the first one getting really close.

0:35:15 > 0:35:21One red.

0:35:33 > 0:35:39One red.

0:35:39 > 0:35:44Leadbitter the Lucent, John, but it's only the one shot.

0:35:47 > 0:35:53Yes, look to reach that side ball, dropping off that.

0:36:13 > 0:36:20That's good, just like that, very good bowl.Darren has the best back

0:36:20 > 0:36:26bowl but only one bowl left, so can't afford to really attack this.

0:36:26 > 0:36:34Just try and draw it off. Not easy. The front red ball is in the way,

0:36:34 > 0:36:39the forehand is almost closed out, so if he takes a risk here, he has

0:36:39 > 0:36:43to get bowl on bowl stockier and think he's going to take the risk,

0:36:43 > 0:36:53try and get the green into it. Once again, one that bowl in the head and

0:36:53 > 0:36:56there is a chance he will take your own out and that will bring in extra

0:36:56 > 0:37:03shot in. I don't think it's four but it's certainly three.Three and a

0:37:03 > 0:37:11look.It could be four. Our rings have now come in, it looks like four

0:37:11 > 0:37:15shots. I just can't believe he played that. Must have been some

0:37:15 > 0:37:20sort of decision out there between the two of them? If there's one bowl

0:37:20 > 0:37:25in the head, just don't have a go. Certainly in aggressive mood.

0:37:25 > 0:37:29Goodness me, hard to believe. Darren is a very measured player.I thought

0:37:29 > 0:37:36Darren might have thought, I'm going lose two here... But he went for it,

0:37:36 > 0:37:42in fairness he decided he was going for that green into the reds. But

0:37:42 > 0:37:50there is always that danger, though. And you are always taught, don't

0:37:50 > 0:37:54attack a head with one bowl in it, there's a chance of something going

0:37:54 > 0:37:58wrong. If it's only three, it's different, because it's only one

0:37:58 > 0:38:07more shot. But if it's four... Well, just doubling up.

0:38:07 > 0:38:15Looks like four to me.You can hear the crowd murmuring it's four.

0:38:19 > 0:38:22That's remarkable, it really is.

0:38:26 > 0:38:34Four shots, Jason Greenslade. 7-8 after five ends.That card is

0:38:34 > 0:38:45reading like something out of one-day cricket. It really is.

0:38:52 > 0:39:00Jack length 29 metres.

0:39:12 > 0:39:20This bowl is chaos. We said at the start, both aggressive players. We

0:39:20 > 0:39:25know Jason can be a tad predictable. They look like they are going for

0:39:25 > 0:39:29the knockout, both players. Absolutely. It's great for us, just

0:39:29 > 0:39:37wonderful, but hard to believe 15 shots in five ends, averaging three

0:39:37 > 0:39:47shots and end. -- an end.

0:40:27 > 0:40:31Darren Burnett looking for an adjustment on his first bowl. It's

0:40:31 > 0:40:40solid. Just got the edge.It is quite refreshing to see two guys at

0:40:40 > 0:40:44this stage in the World Championship going for shots, no doubt about

0:40:44 > 0:40:50that. Normally it's quite conservative and measured.

0:41:02 > 0:41:09One red.

0:41:24 > 0:41:30Off the shoulder. Played it again with a little bit of width to make

0:41:30 > 0:41:39sure he was there. One green.

0:41:41 > 0:41:44Yes, and good bowl by Darren Burnett. Jason Greenslade will look

0:41:44 > 0:41:55at the same sort of line in, movement on the jack is good.

0:41:58 > 0:42:03APPLAUSE

0:42:03 > 0:42:13He's made it.One red.

0:42:13 > 0:42:19That's more what we're used to, these players, isn't it?Yes,

0:42:19 > 0:42:27problems for Darren Burnett here. Not a lot on, David, very difficult.

0:42:27 > 0:42:33Time out called. Darren has four time the Mirror remaining.Darren

0:42:33 > 0:42:37Burnett has to think about this with the forehand because you have that

0:42:37 > 0:42:43this is a -- that facility. With good weight he won't hit it over

0:42:43 > 0:42:48enough but if he is a bit heavy, he will catch it. I can't see anything

0:42:48 > 0:42:52on the backhand whatsoever. If he's looking to strike bowl on to green,

0:42:52 > 0:42:56it's a possibility. If he really wants to play he could drive through

0:42:56 > 0:43:07there and hope to get it right, but my goodness, that's dangerous.

0:43:07 > 0:43:10Yeah, he's playing the draw which is very sensible. Does get past the

0:43:10 > 0:43:17green bowl. It's got a chance.I think that's what he was looking

0:43:17 > 0:43:21for, John. He wanted enough weight that if he got the front bowl he'd

0:43:21 > 0:43:28get something out of it. That was the right shot to play.8-8 after

0:43:28 > 0:43:36six ends. First three ends 8-0 and now 8-8.

0:43:36 > 0:43:38What fun!

0:43:50 > 0:43:54That stage, when you think about 16 shots, we've seen matches where

0:43:54 > 0:44:00there's only 20 in a whole game. Yes, you'd call this an open match

0:44:00 > 0:44:06at the moment. At this stage, though, in the set, I think they'd

0:44:06 > 0:44:11be a bit more considered when they come to playing those weighty balls

0:44:11 > 0:44:16because anything you drop now, it might lose you the set. This looks

0:44:16 > 0:44:27under.He missed his line, totally missed his line.

0:44:27 > 0:44:33No dramatic change in tactics that either of these players. Not going

0:44:33 > 0:44:39very short towards the end of the set. 27 metres should be comfortable

0:44:39 > 0:44:44for both of them.

0:44:45 > 0:44:46APPLAUSE

0:45:09 > 0:45:12APPLAUSE

0:45:17 > 0:45:25One red.

0:45:37 > 0:45:45One red.

0:45:50 > 0:45:54Jason will want to hurry up with this one, try and turn it round the

0:45:54 > 0:46:02corner. Slide round, 15-18 inches is good. A bit further than that... Not

0:46:02 > 0:46:06quite what he was looking for.

0:46:13 > 0:46:21Yes, I think so.

0:46:37 > 0:46:43One red. It's not going to make it any

0:46:43 > 0:46:47easier. He found a good line in, Darren

0:46:47 > 0:46:52then. Just about there for going green slate. He needs to play it

0:46:52 > 0:46:58because the red ball could pop out of the head. Darren looking for two

0:46:58 > 0:47:03or three shots. Needs to try and get close with this one.

0:47:03 > 0:47:11APPLAUSE

0:47:11 > 0:47:18It's hidden behind the front green bowl. Darren will certainly be

0:47:18 > 0:47:23reaching this, no reason not to. Back bowl is against him, of course,

0:47:23 > 0:47:29but he won't be too concerned. He is two down at the moment. If he gets

0:47:29 > 0:47:40it right, it could bring the jack right through.

0:47:45 > 0:47:48Darren Burnett is normally very accurate, but he missed that by

0:47:48 > 0:47:59quite a distance.A big miss by his standards. Four ends in a row, ten

0:47:59 > 0:48:06shots of Darren Burnett.

0:48:21 > 0:48:29Jack length, 29 metres.

0:48:38 > 0:48:43If anyone is feeling a bit sleepy, that would have certainly woken up,

0:48:43 > 0:48:49wouldn't it, those flashing lights? Yes, reminds me of those discos in

0:48:49 > 0:48:55the 1970s, David!Saturday night Fever all over again.I bet you

0:48:55 > 0:49:03still have the white suit as well.I have the white trousers!

0:49:04 > 0:49:09Well, it's certainly turned, this set. 8-0 down and now 10-8 ahead.

0:49:09 > 0:49:13Jason Greenslade.

0:49:35 > 0:49:45Just dropping that little bit, but has got one just behind the jack.

0:49:48 > 0:49:53Darren can afford to reach this, rest on the bowl or reached the

0:49:53 > 0:49:55jack.

0:49:59 > 0:50:02He has played it deliberate, overplayed it, so he knows he is

0:50:02 > 0:50:10going good there.

0:50:25 > 0:50:29He turned away, I think he's very confident he is getting to that

0:50:29 > 0:50:35green bowl.He knew he was there and didn't need to worry about it. Still

0:50:35 > 0:50:41very drawable, but Darren will drop a little weight with this one.

0:51:06 > 0:51:11Good weights, it really is. The second shot, as well.

0:51:38 > 0:51:43APPLAUSE

0:51:43 > 0:51:47Bring the jack back for three, if he gets it absolutely right he could

0:51:47 > 0:51:54actually make four. Yes, I think Darren is two down at

0:51:54 > 0:52:06the moment, he won't be losing at two.He might decide to go quicker.

0:52:06 > 0:52:15Yes, he's interested this time. Oooh, good result. On target.Yes, a

0:52:15 > 0:52:22lot more direct within easy shot, got a good result. Hit it well.

0:52:22 > 0:52:30APPLAUSE Gray 10-10 after eight ends.

0:52:30 > 0:52:33APPLAUSE Gray 10-10 after eight ends.

0:52:40 > 0:52:45All interesting stuff. He take on board when it came onto the jack,

0:52:45 > 0:52:50where ever it was going to go after that no idea but it dropped to the

0:52:50 > 0:52:55double. If it had gone to the side, probably still two.If it was a

0:52:55 > 0:52:59different stage in the set I think he would have played a tray all shot

0:52:59 > 0:53:04but he knew he couldn't lose two. Had to play the strike. As I said,

0:53:04 > 0:53:09hit it well, came out of it with a very good result for two shots. Good

0:53:09 > 0:53:15stuff by Darren Burnett.Good strike.

0:53:16 > 0:53:24strike. 10-10.Probably fair that scoreline going to the last because

0:53:24 > 0:53:32it's been very close, the set. They both May a few mistakes. There

0:53:32 > 0:53:36hasn't been much between the two players, to be fair. In some

0:53:36 > 0:53:40respects it's a bit unfair one of them will lose it because a tight

0:53:40 > 0:53:47set would be, if anything, a fair result on it. Both had interesting

0:53:47 > 0:53:55moments, I think it's fair to say. Who can get to the jack

0:53:55 > 0:54:07first-tier...? Jason is just short. -- get to the jack the first here.

0:54:22 > 0:54:26Not quite going to get there.

0:54:28 > 0:54:40How far is mine?Your bowl, 2.5 feet.

0:54:43 > 0:55:00Front toucher will be hard to beat. It's who can get there first.

0:55:00 > 0:55:11Needs an edge.2-1 would have been better but he still hit the edge to

0:55:11 > 0:55:16get round it.Not quite close enough, I don't think. Need to find

0:55:16 > 0:55:26that little bit of weight now with that next bowl.

0:55:31 > 0:55:39As he pushed into this? -- has he pushed into this? He knew he just

0:55:39 > 0:55:46delayed into that, just over pushed his run through. The trouble for the

0:55:46 > 0:55:50forehand is you can leave that space. I just wonder, will Jason

0:55:50 > 0:55:54change onto the back and Chris, he could make it on the forehand but if

0:55:54 > 0:56:01he lands beside it, Darren will just take it out.I suppose the answer

0:56:01 > 0:56:05for you... He's going to keep to the forehand. This has to be very

0:56:05 > 0:56:13accurate.

0:56:19 > 0:56:22Matching the back on, but to be truthful, I don't think that's the

0:56:22 > 0:56:28issue.I would have been tempted if I was Jason to go to the right-hand

0:56:28 > 0:56:33side. Even if it was sure it would have been on line. He's left the

0:56:33 > 0:56:37door open. Another chance for Darren Burnett.

0:56:40 > 0:56:47He liked that one better.Yes, he's a lot more interested in this one.

0:56:47 > 0:56:56Open hands, plenty of room. All a matter of just stopping now. I think

0:56:56 > 0:57:02he's dropping back. Looks good enough to me.Yes, one green. Just

0:57:02 > 0:57:07too much room. He's made it, he's made it. He thought he was a lot

0:57:07 > 0:57:11better, Darren, thought he was right on the jack. You can see him shaking

0:57:11 > 0:57:18his head. Still a draw for Jason Greenslade.I think you need to on

0:57:18 > 0:57:24the backhand, that red ball is just in the way.Jason has three alts

0:57:24 > 0:57:31remaining.A clear run in on the backhand side. Problems are Jason,

0:57:31 > 0:57:35wants to play the forehand, the short ball just taking him on the

0:57:35 > 0:57:42higher line. You have to have a good way to get back. That's the problem.

0:57:42 > 0:57:48That's why I thought he should have been on it with the backhand, he had

0:57:48 > 0:57:53two bites at it. This will be tricky to get past his own.Staying on the

0:57:53 > 0:58:02forehand side, going to try and raise his bowl, pass it either side.

0:58:02 > 0:58:07It is the hard road in. Needs to miss his own. I don't think he's

0:58:07 > 0:58:13going to get enough, is he? I don't know, might have done enough. He

0:58:13 > 0:58:21could see half the bowl. Enough weight to punches on over. Oh, wow.

0:58:21 > 0:58:34That is close. We think it is still one green. You wouldn't put your

0:58:34 > 0:58:39life savings on fact, David.Played well because he gave himself a

0:58:39 > 0:58:47chance to get his own bowl.He could have turned the short bowl in,

0:58:47 > 0:58:49nearly got Darren's bowl solid, slightly favoured the green.

0:58:49 > 0:58:54Difficult to say from our angle. It is, very hard to say. We will know

0:58:54 > 0:59:02when we see this measure going down. It is well in. In by an inch. We

0:59:02 > 0:59:06were right, the rings were correct. Good effort but...First set Darren

0:59:06 > 0:59:12Burnett.Always against him on the measure.

0:59:20 > 0:59:26Interesting set, I think.It certainly was, 21 shots. A

0:59:26 > 0:59:32high-scoring set. Some very good bowls played, some unusual results.

0:59:32 > 0:59:41Just about everything in that, David.

0:59:41 > 0:59:48Jack length, 29 metres.

1:00:06 > 1:00:08APPLAUSE

1:00:22 > 1:00:26Well, John, we've had big margins before with regards to winning a

1:00:26 > 1:00:33set. 13, 14 or even 15-1 but total shots scored. It is beginning to

1:00:33 > 1:00:39look like a bit of homework for me later on tonight.Your bowl gap is

1:00:39 > 1:00:463.5 inches.

1:01:12 > 1:01:14On red.

1:01:20 > 1:01:24This will all be about hammers Greenslade can react after losing

1:01:24 > 1:01:30the first the opportunities were there. He just couldn't manage it.I

1:01:30 > 1:01:35don't think that will be a problem. Jason has been around the block a

1:01:35 > 1:01:38few times and knows he can get back into this and it's the same with

1:01:38 > 1:01:45Darren if the shoe had been on the other foot.

1:01:46 > 1:01:48other foot. Jason's game management needs to be better at times. He's

1:01:48 > 1:01:53been very good in this tournament but if he looks back, when he makes

1:01:53 > 1:01:57a mistake he drops three or four and he's got a cut that out.The match

1:01:57 > 1:02:03Kraft, you gain that over many years and Jason has been around a long

1:02:03 > 1:02:08time but he seemed to go a bit wayward -- match Kraft. Both of

1:02:08 > 1:02:11these players have the hopes of a nation on them, Darren, the

1:02:11 > 1:02:24remaining Scotsman and Jason and the remaining Welshman.

1:02:42 > 1:02:46Good weight from Darren Burnett, it fell in there, he might have made

1:02:46 > 1:02:51it.

1:03:18 > 1:03:24Jason Greenslade making sure that he was behind the jack. Good receiving

1:03:24 > 1:03:28position in case Darren thinks about playing off Darren thinks about

1:03:28 > 1:03:35playing off Darren thinks about

1:03:35 > 1:03:38playing off correct bowl the left off the red ball to the left of the

1:03:38 > 1:03:47picture.

1:03:55 > 1:04:00Good line again by Darren, if he gets the gap he is very close. That

1:04:00 > 1:04:08is a brilliant bowl by Darren Burnett.Perfect weight. Is it one,

1:04:08 > 1:04:21two or three?Jason's last bowls turned out to be quite valuable.

1:04:35 > 1:04:40This was all to do with the pace of the bowl coming into the jack. Any

1:04:40 > 1:04:52heavier it would have whizzed the jack through to the red one.

1:04:54 > 1:05:03De Lange glass trophy, and it is very heavy -- the Langham glass.

1:05:03 > 1:05:07Just waiting for someone to drop it because it can't be replaced, at

1:05:07 > 1:05:13least not initially.

1:05:43 > 1:05:53REFEREE:Jack length, 29.5 metres.

1:06:03 > 1:06:06APPLAUSE

1:06:08 > 1:06:13Darren Burnett opening with a great bowl again. We have said so many

1:06:13 > 1:06:19times, Darren is a great competitor. He is one of the hardest players to

1:06:19 > 1:06:27beat on the circuit. All the players would agree. He never gives up on

1:06:27 > 1:06:37anything, Darren.

1:06:40 > 1:06:47REFEREE:The gap on the shot, one inch.He is a hard man to score

1:06:47 > 1:06:52shots against but having said that, three and a four in the middle of

1:06:52 > 1:06:59the set for Jason.

1:06:59 > 1:07:03the set for Jason. Maybe revise that a bit. I still think Darren Burnett

1:07:03 > 1:07:09Izotov player to get past. He plays the right shots normally at the

1:07:09 > 1:07:21right time. -- is a tough player to get past. 28 shots was a lot,

1:07:21 > 1:07:26certainly not the highest. At the moment we have folks squirrelling

1:07:26 > 1:07:33away the databases trying to find... Paul Foster against Billy Jackson in

1:07:33 > 1:07:45Wales, Paul Foster won that set.

1:07:47 > 1:07:54Those mannerisms by Darren, not sure whether he liked that, just

1:07:54 > 1:07:58overweight. Slipped free out of his hand. That is a good position.

1:07:58 > 1:08:04Better there than in short.

1:08:05 > 1:08:13Better there than in short. Memories of matches involving Greg

1:08:13 > 1:08:16of matches involving Greg Harlow he was playing Mervyn King bub hours

1:08:16 > 1:08:24and 11 end final and the scoreline was

1:08:24 > 1:08:37was enormous -- but that was and 11 end final. Good bowl.

1:08:44 > 1:08:51Confident call.

1:08:59 > 1:09:03Darren is on that line again, the weight is good, he can get to the

1:09:03 > 1:09:08red, inside the red is good. Unfortunately he got the outside

1:09:08 > 1:09:15edge and it fell away. Still therefore Jason Greenslade.

1:09:34 > 1:09:40He's not sure. He's pushed it out. It's going to have to have good

1:09:40 > 1:09:47weight to get back from there. This is going to be a measure for the

1:09:47 > 1:09:54second, a definite one and I think Jason might look at the second one.

1:09:57 > 1:10:03Jason is asking for a measure. He thinks it's just the one, Alan

1:10:03 > 1:10:09Thornhill said two.

1:10:09 > 1:10:13Thornhill said two. How good is Jason looking at measures, John?I

1:10:13 > 1:10:16think he has a decent eye, when they are this close it is difficult to be

1:10:16 > 1:10:22sure.

1:10:22 > 1:10:31sure.They are down there so they are a lot closer to the action.

1:10:31 > 1:10:33are a lot closer to the action. No doubt Francis Fletcher will sort

1:10:33 > 1:10:41this out.I slightly favour the green myself but you can't tell.

1:10:41 > 1:10:47This is the man that will give us the decision.Yes, it's very

1:10:47 > 1:10:53accurate, can't go too far wrong with measuring. We will see how far

1:10:53 > 1:10:57it is to the green one. Surely it has got to be the red one. It looks

1:10:57 > 1:11:03like the red one to me.It is the red. I thought it was red all the

1:11:03 > 1:11:13time. You can see why I'm wearing glasses, David.Pricey, honestly,

1:11:13 > 1:11:21every end is precious.

1:11:21 > 1:11:33We have to believe our rings. In by quite a distance as well.

1:11:49 > 1:11:54APPLAUSE

1:11:56 > 1:12:04Darren is starting to get there with the first bowl.

1:12:04 > 1:12:09A lot of people interested in bowls, by the way. David had a few calls

1:12:09 > 1:12:15last night, one interesting one from Lee Daniel, you might nobly come his

1:12:15 > 1:12:19wife Laura won the World Match Play oblivious ago and Lee is a good

1:12:19 > 1:12:25player himself -- you might know Lee. The groundsmen were watching

1:12:25 > 1:12:30the polls on their break and he said, tell everyone we are enjoying

1:12:30 > 1:12:35the bowls.He didn't mention the recent match? That's good, I'm very

1:12:35 > 1:12:42glad to hear that. But that's great, isn't it?

1:12:43 > 1:12:49isn't it? -- watching the bowls. Talking about the football match of

1:12:49 > 1:12:52the swans versus Liverpool, Michael commented has been very good not to

1:12:52 > 1:13:05mention the result. I know that a lot of students watch the bowls.

1:13:05 > 1:13:08lot of students watch the bowls. As they sit around in the afternoons,

1:13:08 > 1:13:12well, I was going to say that, they don't, they study, of course, they

1:13:12 > 1:13:18have it on in the background.

1:13:45 > 1:13:49Another one in there from Darren, putting some pressure on now.Yes

1:13:49 > 1:13:52and he's finding the centre of the rink as well, that's the important

1:13:52 > 1:13:58thing.

1:14:08 > 1:14:19Trying to make a disturbance, the front bowl is not clever. Put your

1:14:19 > 1:14:27hand high up in the air and apologise for that one, I think.

1:14:27 > 1:14:34Yeah, solid on the short one. Two and a possible three and comes out

1:14:34 > 1:14:37with one, albeit it's a long way away.He acknowledges it, he knew he

1:14:37 > 1:14:43was under the line. You have to do that. That's the nature of the game

1:14:43 > 1:14:50sometimes, you win some and you lose some. This will come very deep at

1:14:50 > 1:14:57the end of its travel. Here it comes now. That is quite a bit away. I

1:14:57 > 1:15:02think Jason will play the other side.

1:15:12 > 1:15:24Good and it's all on the pace now. Has he got enough? Maybe just in.

1:15:24 > 1:15:35Hard to tell. He will want a bit of chalk underneath that.Yeah, there

1:15:35 > 1:15:41it goes. It looks like he's in by an inch or two. Jason didn't have much

1:15:41 > 1:15:44to spare.

1:15:53 > 1:15:56Jason's bowl. After the forward movement you have 30 seconds to let

1:15:56 > 1:16:01it stay there and a little chocolate goes underneath the ball to make

1:16:01 > 1:16:06sure it doesn't fall away. 30 seconds is the key after forward

1:16:06 > 1:16:15movement.

1:16:15 > 1:16:18movement. Came out of that pretty well, John. I think he will be

1:16:18 > 1:16:27relieved.He came out of it very well.

1:16:31 > 1:16:36Jason has just moved the mat up the green, the reason being that Darren

1:16:36 > 1:16:41was finding a very good length and line, getting a lot of front and

1:16:41 > 1:16:52back touches and he needed to change that.

1:17:10 > 1:17:19He really needs to get that first bowl within four or five inches.

1:17:19 > 1:17:28That's the problem.Darren has made the adjustment to the new length.

1:17:28 > 1:17:34Even though it's still a very close match, David, you feel that Darren

1:17:34 > 1:17:40is drawing a bit better than Jason at the moment. He is certainly more

1:17:40 > 1:17:44on the lead foot. Having said that, he's won the first set so he's in a

1:17:44 > 1:17:49very good position.

1:17:50 > 1:17:53very good position. 3-1 up, second set, Jason has just played two short

1:17:53 > 1:18:01balls. Third delivery, going to be two against him.You can only dip

1:18:01 > 1:18:06into the big bowls to produce them, eventually that will run out. You

1:18:06 > 1:18:11end up missing one or two, and in the meantime Darren is banging them

1:18:11 > 1:18:17in.Very good, this will drop now, he played that well. That's hard to

1:18:17 > 1:18:26beat.

1:18:26 > 1:18:28beat.Jason's shot selection, as we've said many times, is

1:18:28 > 1:18:35unpredictable, you can draw the forehand, draw the backhand. The

1:18:35 > 1:18:40sort of player you would like to see have a whiz at this.Almost the

1:18:40 > 1:18:43centre of the rink so it will take some of the target away and he will

1:18:43 > 1:18:55have to be close to that if he's striking.

1:18:56 > 1:19:02The strike is still on on his backhand but the short bowl is

1:19:02 > 1:19:07difficult, not in the way but it is taking the eye.It is one where if

1:19:07 > 1:19:13you go a bit wide you struggle to get back.

1:19:13 > 1:19:19get back. Conservative, going for the draw. Just nothing close enough

1:19:19 > 1:19:30at the moment. He wants to hit his own and hit it hard. Well, could be

1:19:30 > 1:19:38second.It's definitely two now, it dropped out. Doesn't improve

1:19:38 > 1:19:44anything for Jason Greenslade either.

1:19:52 > 1:19:55If Darren can find another shot in the middle of the rink Jason is in a

1:19:55 > 1:20:05lot of trouble.

1:20:14 > 1:20:21That's the drive out of commission now.Looking at it at the moment he

1:20:21 > 1:20:26has two choices, Jason, he could lift his own bowl on the forehand

1:20:26 > 1:20:34for second, or drop to the back green and drop back.

1:20:34 > 1:20:40green and drop back. Staying on the forehand suggests he's looking for

1:20:40 > 1:20:48that bowl, lifted in.

1:20:50 > 1:20:53that bowl, lifted in.I don't really think he had the weight to punch

1:20:53 > 1:21:01that bowl all the way up to the jack.

1:21:01 > 1:21:07jack. Darren looking for an extra shot here. Two gives him a bit of

1:21:07 > 1:21:18daylight, three would be a bonus.

1:21:30 > 1:21:39REFEREE:Two shots, Darren Bennett. 1-5 after four ends.

1:21:45 > 1:21:54Scores are a little bit more normal this set after four ends, 5-1.

1:21:54 > 1:22:01That's a bit of daylight. But more importantly for Darren Burnett he's

1:22:01 > 1:22:07playing the better first bowls, keeping the pressure on.Coming on

1:22:07 > 1:22:13strong at the right time now, Darren. I just feel Jason needs to

1:22:13 > 1:22:20pick his game up, the first two bowls are costing him dear.

1:22:26 > 1:22:37There is a chance.

1:23:14 > 1:23:26Unusually for Darren Burnett two short balls.

1:23:36 > 1:23:43APPLAUSE

1:23:50 > 1:23:53Too often Darren has failed with the first two bowls and needs to recover

1:23:53 > 1:23:58well with this bowl.

1:24:05 > 1:24:13Good second shot but a chance for Jason to extend the jack back for a

1:24:13 > 1:24:23three. Jason's wife Ruth will be in work but his daughter

1:24:23 > 1:24:30work but his daughter Holly will Beer school -- will be at school

1:24:30 > 1:24:38watching, if they are allowed. Darren's kids will be at school as

1:24:38 > 1:24:43well, his wife Lindsey may be at home watching. That's actually not

1:24:43 > 1:24:52bad. One shot but it's not bad. I don't think Darren will play

1:24:52 > 1:24:56anything too fancy, just a draw, if he gets a second bowl, he hasn't had

1:24:56 > 1:25:00a great end and if he gets out of this losing one he would be more

1:25:00 > 1:25:05than happy.

1:25:13 > 1:25:23Time-out called. Darren has three time-outs remaining.

1:25:44 > 1:25:49Can he get down? Just needs to pass the red. That's costly, that's

1:25:49 > 1:25:59another one.

1:25:59 > 1:26:06another one.That's what Darren Burnett didn't want, to knock the

1:26:06 > 1:26:09red into the jack. Another chance for Jason if he can find another

1:26:09 > 1:26:20good one. He could be back in the set.

1:26:31 > 1:26:36He gave it a chance, didn't he? Always the hope of getting the red

1:26:36 > 1:26:48ball onto the jack and making three or four. He will be happy with that.

1:26:48 > 1:27:01Set score 3-5 after five ends.

1:27:27 > 1:27:35Jack Lang, 26.5 metres. -- Jack length.

1:27:35 > 1:27:40It is marked out in metres and we use that for the distances of the

1:27:40 > 1:27:47jack. There are little dots for each meter going along, the maximum

1:27:47 > 1:27:55length is 29.5 metres and minimum 23 metres.

1:27:55 > 1:27:59metres. The laws of the game are influenced by other countries, the

1:27:59 > 1:28:04Southern Hemisphere in particular where they use metres. We are feet

1:28:04 > 1:28:09and inches people really up here, aren't we, John? Whenever playing

1:28:09 > 1:28:14bowls generally they don't say it is a meter through, they say it is a

1:28:14 > 1:28:20yard through. Two really good openers.

1:28:32 > 1:28:37That change over from feet and inches, decimalisation, you would

1:28:37 > 1:28:41remember that, you were in primary school that year.Yes, I admit I am

1:28:41 > 1:28:50still very much a foot and inches man.Jason's bowl, two and a half

1:28:50 > 1:28:59inches...February 1971 Desai size Asian came in.

1:29:00 > 1:29:07Asian came in.Chaos reigned for a while. Now, Darren, can you drop

1:29:07 > 1:29:12your own ball down? People coming through asking that question. It has

1:29:12 > 1:29:20now been answered. Jason, you would really like to play this on the

1:29:20 > 1:29:25backhand and get to the green ball and age it out. But it's the

1:29:25 > 1:29:31forehand.Yeah, I think it's because he prefers the forehand and he's

1:29:31 > 1:29:34played most of his bowls on the forehand side in the tournament in

1:29:34 > 1:29:44this direction.It doesn't make it right, though.

1:29:44 > 1:29:48right, though. That jack where it is sitting at the moment, on the

1:29:48 > 1:29:51backhand, he's bringing it into the green bowl on the forehand and

1:29:51 > 1:29:55whether you like it or not occasionally you have to play it.I

1:29:55 > 1:30:02would agree. He's shying away from it at the moment.

1:30:02 > 1:30:06it at the moment. The same applies for Darren, he could play the

1:30:06 > 1:30:09forehand but there is a front red one that he doesn't want to hit so

1:30:09 > 1:30:16there is more reason to play the backhand.Well played here, if it

1:30:16 > 1:30:28bends to the green he would drop in. So close to getting the drop.

1:30:43 > 1:30:47Sticking with the forehand side, Jason, I think. Danger for him if he

1:30:47 > 1:30:52played the back can now, dropping the green in.Doesn't look happy, it

1:30:52 > 1:30:54must be heavy.

1:30:56 > 1:31:09Yes. He knew that out of the hands, wasn't going to get back.Darren has

1:31:09 > 1:31:14had a quick look at this on the backhand side. Knows if he could

1:31:14 > 1:31:20play the perfect bowl between his closest Boult and the jack, he could

1:31:20 > 1:31:24drop out that red. Not easy to do, has to be a near-perfect delivery.I

1:31:24 > 1:31:29think he has to make the gap work for him, pushed the green bowl out

1:31:29 > 1:31:36to get back to the red one.Playing the inside, overweight. It is a hard

1:31:36 > 1:31:40shot, even for the best. That is the problem, I thought he would have

1:31:40 > 1:31:49drawn that and hope to get to the green.

1:31:49 > 1:31:53green.Still, tied at 4-5, beautifully poised. Three ends to

1:31:53 > 1:32:00go.

1:32:13 > 1:32:16Jack length, 29 metres.

1:32:42 > 1:32:46That is a good start for Jason Greenslade. He's been looking for

1:32:46 > 1:32:54that sort of bowl for a few ends now.Half an inch.First delivery

1:32:54 > 1:33:01always important in singles, makes you much more confident then.

1:33:09 > 1:33:13Beautiful stuff, this.What a play that is!

1:33:13 > 1:33:21APPLAUSE

1:33:25 > 1:33:30Beautiful to watch that level of accuracy, isn't it, John? Over that

1:33:30 > 1:33:40distance. Something an inch and a half, an inch away isn't safe.Both

1:33:40 > 1:33:43players, good bowls being played. Quite deliberate by Jason Bohn he's

1:33:43 > 1:33:47gone back there for something he could rely on later on if he wants

1:33:47 > 1:33:54to play weight. Darren might be advised here to go and match that

1:33:54 > 1:34:01bowl.Either side, didn't really matter which way he played it but he

1:34:01 > 1:34:11has to be find it. -- behind it.

1:34:17 > 1:34:22Now then, Jason, make your mind up time... Tempted to play this on the

1:34:22 > 1:34:29backhand, try and raise the bowl into the green or red. Using a lot

1:34:29 > 1:34:35of weight. He wants to score, wants to disturb this, needs to get down

1:34:35 > 1:34:42quicker. Oooh, great effort. Goodness me, that was so close.

1:34:42 > 1:34:53Perfect angle to be coming in to get the red bowl.

1:34:56 > 1:35:02Against the Darren, he will go to the forehand, not to get close to

1:35:02 > 1:35:14his green but beat that last red. Anything inside that is good.

1:35:15 > 1:35:24This is good stuff, isn't it?It really is.

1:35:24 > 1:35:33One green. He has position. It's the same bowl

1:35:33 > 1:35:38for Jason. Gets onto the red and moves the green, and even if he

1:35:38 > 1:35:42misses, he gets onto the green bowl at the back, it could fall in.He

1:35:42 > 1:35:49will take his time over this. Down to six seconds. I thought he was

1:35:49 > 1:35:54using his time out. Down to two. Goodness me. It's an important bowl.

1:35:54 > 1:36:03Plenty of time outs available. He is in the area again.Needs to drop.

1:36:03 > 1:36:10Needs a push on it, just a push on it.I don't believe it! Oh dear, oh

1:36:10 > 1:36:13dear!

1:36:25 > 1:36:31Yes, he played this so well. Just a nice weight and that bowl has just

1:36:31 > 1:36:36fallen back. He thought he was perfect.Time-out called.Can't

1:36:36 > 1:36:44believe it!His reaction is enough. Dummett, and then a second later...

1:36:44 > 1:36:53No! -- done it. Such a good head of bowls. Darren trying to drop in

1:36:53 > 1:37:00again.

1:37:00 > 1:37:06One green. One green and I don't think he will

1:37:06 > 1:37:15be too adventurous with this.He has to be a little careful, Darren.

1:37:15 > 1:37:19to be a little careful, Darren. It's the last bowl. Puts him to- up with

1:37:19 > 1:37:25two ends to go. Jason has to win the set.Cautious, and you can't blame

1:37:25 > 1:37:36him for that.I don't even think I'd bother, to be truthful with you.

1:37:38 > 1:37:42Still can't believe that bowl dropped out, he really can't. It was

1:37:42 > 1:37:50very unlucky. But when you're chasing the set, John, big

1:37:50 > 1:37:57difference 5-5 as opposed to being two behind.

1:38:07 > 1:38:19Potter 's leisure resort. They love the Friday.

1:38:51 > 1:39:00Neither player has played a good opener here.

1:39:14 > 1:39:21This one is travelling a little bit. Certainly a lot closer. Still a foot

1:39:21 > 1:39:30or so or maybe 14 inches away.Your bowl, 3.5 feet.There you go, in

1:39:30 > 1:39:38feet it's given.

1:39:38 > 1:39:4538 centimetres would be just over a foot, which is what I think the

1:39:45 > 1:39:55green one is.That is a good adjustment, Jason.Right in front.

1:39:55 > 1:40:07That's what he needed, close to the jack. Two behind in the set.

1:40:10 > 1:40:15Darren fancies this, he is up after it. Always a good sign, always a

1:40:15 > 1:40:20good sign. Can he run?

1:40:20 > 1:40:30He was spot on line. I think he thought he was better then, David.

1:40:30 > 1:40:36For Jason it's a matter of getting two shots. He just wants to be in a

1:40:36 > 1:40:43position where he wins the last end, and forces the tie-break. Needs to

1:40:43 > 1:40:50hurry. This needs to hurry to get up.

1:40:51 > 1:40:57Always looked just that little bit short, John, didn't it?Right online

1:40:57 > 1:41:01but eases the pressure on Darren Burnett. He knows he is only one

1:41:01 > 1:41:06down now. See if he can add 15-16 inches to his last bowl. A little

1:41:06 > 1:41:17bit of a missed opportunity for Jason then.

1:41:24 > 1:41:30Very close with this, if he drops back. Could draw the shot reruns but

1:41:30 > 1:41:38it's not running, pulls up against quite well, second chance. Just a

1:41:38 > 1:41:45foot or so on his last bowl. These little half chances, you need to

1:41:45 > 1:41:48take them.

1:42:05 > 1:42:10Will he run? Will he get past the front? Better, very close. Yes, made

1:42:10 > 1:42:18it.That's all he wanted, wanted that. That changes things

1:42:18 > 1:42:25considerably. It means he can be really attacking now.6-6 after

1:42:25 > 1:42:34eight ends.It is what the crowd wanted, as well. We like the

1:42:34 > 1:42:38excitement of that one end. Darren Burnett will have the last bowl, so

1:42:38 > 1:42:46he will have the advantage of that. He will be hoping he won't need it.

1:42:46 > 1:42:50It has been such a close match, this one. Very little between the two

1:42:50 > 1:42:52players.

1:42:57 > 1:43:04Jack length, 29 metres.

1:43:18 > 1:43:26Jason trying to get to the jack first now. APPLAUSE

1:43:26 > 1:43:30Good to see Jason back playing at this level again, isn't it? This is

1:43:30 > 1:43:35as well as I'd seen him play in this event for some years, to be truthful

1:43:35 > 1:43:41with you. It's the old saying, isn't it... Form is temporary and class is

1:43:41 > 1:43:47permanent and he is a class player. The average scoring... It is just

1:43:47 > 1:43:59scary, isn't it? Two shots and 1.9 shots per end. 33 shots, John. We

1:43:59 > 1:44:05are not even at the end of the second set.Keeping with the

1:44:05 > 1:44:12backhand side and I don't blame him for that. Lady good first delivery.

1:44:12 > 1:44:18Gets round the green. He wants to hurry, he doesn't want to be beside

1:44:18 > 1:44:24it. It is not bad. It is up to Darren how he feels, because he's a

1:44:24 > 1:44:29very attacking player.

1:44:29 > 1:44:34very attacking player.Nearest bowl to the gap is four inches.Darren's

1:44:34 > 1:44:39slang, ninth in the world, but his lowest ranking since 2010. This will

1:44:39 > 1:44:47help, if he can get through to the semifinal. He is on a similar line,

1:44:47 > 1:44:51how is the weight? It looks close to me, David, it looks close to me.

1:44:51 > 1:44:56Doesn't want the jack first.Doesn't want the jack at all. I'm lucky,

1:44:56 > 1:45:08very unlucky. Jason will scamper across to the other side now.

1:45:11 > 1:45:15It was a great bowl by Darren Burnett. Just got the jack a little

1:45:15 > 1:45:20too solid and scampered away. I think maybe go to the spot position.

1:45:20 > 1:45:25Can't improve this.

1:45:34 > 1:45:50Jason is fighting hard. That is good.Very good bowl, that.

1:45:54 > 1:46:01Darren Burnett, third bowl. That is the key moment, that is the key

1:46:01 > 1:46:05place, that is where the jack has to go to get it out in the open. He's

1:46:05 > 1:46:12playing it. Doesn't want to half it. Wow! He was actually closer to the

1:46:12 > 1:46:17edge of the jack.I thought he was very good for that solid on the way

1:46:17 > 1:46:26down, he must have ducked very quick, David.

1:46:35 > 1:46:40I wouldn't go near this... I think Darren may only have a draw so I

1:46:40 > 1:46:45would block the draw.Just leave it, stay away with it -- from it,

1:46:45 > 1:46:51whether it is short, wide, deep.

1:46:51 > 1:46:55Darren hasn't got the spot, has he? A strike is no good to him really,

1:46:55 > 1:47:00unless he stays on the green and gets lucky on a brat on the bowl. I

1:47:00 > 1:47:04think he only has the draw.If he does want played, there is a

1:47:04 > 1:47:10re-spot. That is the chance. The key ball in that situation is this read

1:47:10 > 1:47:15on because this is the one that will be there all the way.

1:47:18 > 1:47:23The thing for Jason is he has that side covered. There is no deep

1:47:23 > 1:47:27position for Darren to play with. The Green might be useful in case it

1:47:27 > 1:47:33goes up the green but I doubt it will.Going on his backhand.A

1:47:33 > 1:47:39tighter line. He is trying to block it. This needs to bend. This will

1:47:39 > 1:47:44never get back enough. Didn't make centreline. He is more or less

1:47:44 > 1:47:50saying to Darren, off you go. Do your best with it.

1:47:50 > 1:47:54A funny decision by Jason. I don't think Darren was going to hit it

1:47:54 > 1:47:59anyway. I think he was going to play more of a drawing board to jam the

1:47:59 > 1:48:06jack or draw it out.Let's see what replays. He is playing weight, needs

1:48:06 > 1:48:11a bit of luck with this if he's striking.Needs the inside edge.

1:48:11 > 1:48:16Goodness me!Second set, Jason Greenslade.

1:48:16 > 1:48:22Just didn't get down in time. It really is quite appropriate that

1:48:22 > 1:48:27this match is going into a three end tie-break. It's been that sort of

1:48:27 > 1:48:38game, we have loved it. 10-11, 7-6. Darren won the toss and has given

1:48:38 > 1:48:43the jack to Jason. They toss the coin to see what the choice will be

1:48:43 > 1:48:49for the jack and Darren has won that. He has given the jack to

1:48:49 > 1:48:53Jason. Next end it will be Jason's choice, but Darren want the last

1:48:53 > 1:48:59bowl.If it does go to the third end, Darren will get the choice

1:48:59 > 1:49:04again.

1:49:07 > 1:49:11again.So, three end tie-break. There are a lot of people watching

1:49:11 > 1:49:23you don't know... Cumulative shots don't count. If we get to the third

1:49:23 > 1:49:27end of the tie-break, just like changing the rules once again, we

1:49:27 > 1:49:35will explain it later. Jason Greenslade, 75% between 25-27. He

1:49:35 > 1:49:38has gone for the longer Jack length which Darren Burnett has been

1:49:38 > 1:49:41winning.

1:50:01 > 1:50:09That is a great opener for him. Well, yes, it is. It is slightly on

1:50:09 > 1:50:12the short side. If it had been directly jack high it would have

1:50:12 > 1:50:19been different. That is exactly what Darren is asking! He may have popped

1:50:19 > 1:50:24it in the ditch if it was jack high. He might still, no reason not to go

1:50:24 > 1:50:35for.Yesteryears, jack in the ditch. Very attacking. He got the bowl way.

1:50:35 > 1:50:42It is a toucher and it will stay in the ditch. It is a live bowl. As I

1:50:42 > 1:50:53say, the tactics changed dramatically. On the tie-break ends.

1:51:07 > 1:51:16He has dropped it back. Back to the draw now. That is a metre away.

1:51:16 > 1:51:20The reason why I'm saying is a metre is I can see the white marks and I

1:51:20 > 1:51:31know they are exactly a metre, so can judge it better that way.

1:51:31 > 1:51:38A very good bowl for the second bowl. That is excellent, it really

1:51:38 > 1:51:48is. It will be hard to beat. That front read modern -- red one won't

1:51:48 > 1:51:55help.He might as well play it. Forehand strike.

1:51:56 > 1:51:58Forehand strike.About three or four inches now.Possible to outdraw bat.

1:51:58 > 1:52:07He is playing it, bowl to jack. Very close, he could have this.Got it,

1:52:07 > 1:52:14clean the. Great shot for Jason. Played it really well. Just saying

1:52:14 > 1:52:24Darren, you put another one in.Had to play that, really. Move the bowl

1:52:24 > 1:52:28away. Just be hoping now that Darren doesn't put another front toucher in

1:52:28 > 1:52:39there. More than capable of this, Darren Burnett.

1:52:43 > 1:52:51It is on a good line again here. The weight is good, he's very close. Not

1:52:51 > 1:52:57quite as good as the last one.No, but Darren has the last bowl so I

1:52:57 > 1:53:01think he will try and draw this. No point plucking this out. He doesn't

1:53:01 > 1:53:10have a close enough red one.

1:53:16 > 1:53:22The line is very good but how is the weight?Looks a little heavy to me.

1:53:22 > 1:53:28Yes, he's overplayed it. Darren Burnett, the first end of the

1:53:28 > 1:53:35tie-break. Jason will have the last bowl this time, if he decides to

1:53:35 > 1:53:44give the jack to Darren.

1:54:14 > 1:54:22Jack length, 29.5 metres.

1:55:05 > 1:55:11One green. Jason Greenslade has contributed

1:55:11 > 1:55:19greatly to this match, but he's actually only been in front on one

1:55:19 > 1:55:23occasion, and that was in the seventh end of the first set. He was

1:55:23 > 1:55:3310-8 up and lost the set. But he has never been in front in this match,

1:55:33 > 1:55:37other than that on end.It has been such a tight game between the two of

1:55:37 > 1:55:42them, though. You could see it going right to the wire.

1:55:46 > 1:55:51Darren disappointed with that second bowl.Well, Jason still trying to

1:55:51 > 1:55:56fight his way through them. Open hand on the forehand at this length

1:55:56 > 1:56:02is pretty good. Needs to run with this one, needs to hurry.

1:56:05 > 1:56:09Putting so much into getting the line right, just forget about the

1:56:09 > 1:56:14weight. On the forehand the margin of error is much bigger. The thing

1:56:14 > 1:56:18is, at the moment Darren may change himself here.

1:56:22 > 1:56:31He's not, he's persevering with the backhand.

1:56:37 > 1:56:42That doesn't really affect the position. Can still play it on the

1:56:42 > 1:56:48backhand, the gap is big enough, two feet wide. Just thinking about the

1:56:48 > 1:56:52lines so much and he needs to do it with this one. He's thinking

1:56:52 > 1:56:57about... He's going with it. It's just the weight, he had the line

1:56:57 > 1:57:05with two bowls.It's threading a needle when you don't need to. He

1:57:05 > 1:57:13has dropped this. Oh, goodness me. Wow. That I did not expect. Not the

1:57:13 > 1:57:21time to play a bowl like that.He is going to have to have... He has won

1:57:21 > 1:57:27bowl left to save a quarterfinal. Darren is just leaving the forehand.

1:57:27 > 1:57:32He's thinking if Jason doesn't want to play it, I will give him a

1:57:32 > 1:57:40target.He's also saying, Jason, you can drive the bowl out. He needs

1:57:40 > 1:57:45another one in.Heat this looks good.Certainly it's better. Needs

1:57:45 > 1:57:51to stop the second, and I think it has. Interesting to see if that's

1:57:51 > 1:57:54second shot or not.

1:58:00 > 1:58:05Well, two bowls which means Jason can't really drive out a shot, he

1:58:05 > 1:58:10has to draw this. As for the last one, sort of tempered the move, but

1:58:10 > 1:58:13I think if you're going to move, you move with the third one. You quite

1:58:13 > 1:58:19often drop shot with the forehand. Probably agree. If you're going to

1:58:19 > 1:58:23change, the third is the time to go. If he goes now he has to find a new

1:58:23 > 1:58:29line, weight and feel on that side. But it's what he's comfortable with

1:58:29 > 1:58:36at this stage. If he fancies the backhand, he has to stick with it.

1:58:36 > 1:58:48I'd expect a better attempt with this one. Backhand it is.

1:58:50 > 1:58:54He's showing more interest in this one. It is all about good weight.

1:58:54 > 1:59:01Has to get down on good weight with this.It has a chance, I tell you

1:59:01 > 1:59:05what, it's close... If it runs... Don't drop! It might be enough, it's

1:59:05 > 1:59:12hard to tell.

1:59:12 > 1:59:18That is an umpire measure.I fancy red this time... I'm wearing

1:59:18 > 1:59:22glasses, you can't rely on the!You are wearing glasses and you are

1:59:22 > 1:59:29Welsh!I am not biased at all, I'm very professional that way but I

1:59:29 > 1:59:36have bad eyesight CHUCKLES I want a last end to the tie-break.

1:59:36 > 1:59:45It is very close. We will see now. Let's just have a good look at this.

1:59:45 > 1:59:51It is in by an inch and a half. Well done Jason Greenslade.

1:59:57 > 2:00:02I love it when a guest of the last end of a tie-break in an important

2:00:02 > 2:00:15game.He scrambled one in the end. He's just clinging on, isn't he? --

2:00:15 > 2:00:20when it gets to the last end. He was in front in this match in one end

2:00:20 > 2:00:29only, in the seventh end of the first set and now the match is tied.

2:00:29 > 2:00:33One end to go. The rules change again in the last end of the

2:00:33 > 2:00:37tie-break you can nominate to kill the end, nominate as often as you

2:00:37 > 2:00:46wish but only allowed to kill it once.

2:00:46 > 2:00:51once. As long as you are up to the jack, Jason, it's important, but you

2:00:51 > 2:01:00don't want anything in the line in front. This is a decent start.

2:01:00 > 2:01:08APPLAUSE And the same applies for Darren.

2:01:15 > 2:01:19Both attacking players, they want to have a clear pathway through to the

2:01:19 > 2:01:30jack. This is good. That is very good by Darren Burnett. Just stood

2:01:30 > 2:01:39up a little bit, side on.He's tempted here, tempted for the jack.

2:01:39 > 2:01:42Take the bowl, or run the jack. Natural instinct would be to hit

2:01:42 > 2:01:53this. Going for it.

2:01:53 > 2:01:55GROANS FROM CROWD

2:02:01 > 2:02:09Is Jason's jack high?Jason's bowl is two and a half inches past jack

2:02:09 > 2:02:13high.

2:02:13 > 2:02:19Darren swapping sides now. That's the right thing to do.Jason set his

2:02:19 > 2:02:23stall out, surprising to go on the backhand because the target is a

2:02:23 > 2:02:29clear run to the ditch.Jason likes his forehand strike.Exactly, some

2:02:29 > 2:02:33players prefer one side or the other.That's pretty good, it's

2:02:33 > 2:02:36locked Jason in a little bit but it's not a bad bowl.He will go

2:02:36 > 2:02:51again.The jack in the ditch is great if he follows it.

2:02:51 > 2:02:54great if he follows it.Hurriyet! He's interested

2:02:54 > 2:03:06to get the bowl. He knew that was close.-- hurry. He has two bowls

2:03:06 > 2:03:17against one.Yeah. On the bowl, good strike.Darren was so close to the

2:03:17 > 2:03:26last bowl, you would expect him to be in the area.

2:03:26 > 2:03:30Going on to his favoured backhand and he doesn't like it, he doesn't

2:03:30 > 2:03:35like that one.No, he's turned his back on it. Sometimes it's hard to

2:03:35 > 2:03:39tell with Darren with the body language but on that occasion it was

2:03:39 > 2:03:42very obvious. I think Jason needs another one there. I really believe

2:03:42 > 2:03:48he has to draw this on the forehand. Yeah, I would go forehand if I was

2:03:48 > 2:03:55Jason and try and draw another shot. Needs to try and get a bit closer if

2:03:55 > 2:03:59he can. There is a danger that you force Darren into playing weight.

2:03:59 > 2:04:05Yes, John, but he has to play, even if it comes off his own ball, but

2:04:05 > 2:04:10something in this sort of area, if he gets into that area, but the

2:04:10 > 2:04:14trouble is if he gets into this area that leads the jack in the ditch,

2:04:14 > 2:04:17but anything behind is good.

2:04:34 > 2:04:41Yes, he's on the forehand, just trying to put a really close bowl in

2:04:41 > 2:04:45and not leave a target.He's on a wide line, which suggests to me he's

2:04:45 > 2:04:50not even trying to get close, playing the back bowl and leaving

2:04:50 > 2:04:55Darren the draw.Well, not even the draw, the problem is he can run the

2:04:55 > 2:04:59ball on the forehand or the backhand. He's got two seconds and

2:04:59 > 2:05:04that's what he's looking at at the moment. I wouldn't be surprised if

2:05:04 > 2:05:08Darren plays weight to this. He was just so far away with the attempt to

2:05:08 > 2:05:16draw with his third bowl and he's very accurate, isn't he, John?Yeah,

2:05:16 > 2:05:22the only problem is the green bowl down the rink is covering a direct

2:05:22 > 2:05:26strike to those bowls and he needs to time it and the red is into the

2:05:26 > 2:05:29green so it's a little more difficult than it would seem.Yes,

2:05:29 > 2:05:33it is, but it is there on the forehand as well if he wants to time

2:05:33 > 2:05:37it around the green bowl. Any connection with the red will be on

2:05:37 > 2:05:40the middle or the high side of it, the wide side, meaning the red must

2:05:40 > 2:05:47go out. It's one of those, isn't it? You've just got to go with whatever

2:05:47 > 2:05:53your gut feeling is if you are the player.Yes, it's a toss of the

2:05:53 > 2:05:57coin, run the bowls, or draw it. The percentages are on the running shot,

2:05:57 > 2:06:03I think. Two seconds, he has just asked that, which gives me the

2:06:03 > 2:06:10impression... I know, Darren, I wouldn't like it either.It is that

2:06:10 > 2:06:18short one. He can't go direct. Time-out called.

2:06:18 > 2:06:24I can see the problem, I really can. I think if he'd been two feet away

2:06:24 > 2:06:28or even half a yard with the third bowl, he would have just gone down

2:06:28 > 2:06:32there and drawn it, but he's so far-away.That third bowl couldn't

2:06:32 > 2:06:36have really stopped in a worse position covering the red bowl,

2:06:36 > 2:06:44straight strike. This is so important to Jason. Really, it's

2:06:44 > 2:06:50monumental in terms of what he's trying to achieve this week.Darren

2:06:50 > 2:07:00is on his backhand.Going for the draw. He has got this one away a lot

2:07:00 > 2:07:06better. He's trotting up after it and he must know it's a lot closer.

2:07:06 > 2:07:17Will it run? Will it run? He has drawn it, great bowl by Darren. He's

2:07:17 > 2:07:22so good at that, he really is, Darren Burnett. It took a long time

2:07:22 > 2:07:29to work out what to do and he played a brilliant bowl. Jason Greenslade

2:07:29 > 2:07:33help the match for quite a number of minutes as Darren Burnett decided

2:07:33 > 2:07:37what to do. But what a wonderful match it was, it was a fantastic

2:07:37 > 2:07:47game, tight all the way in the first set. 11-10 to Darren Burnett. Seven,

2:07:47 > 2:07:54her second set 7-6 to grace, Jason Greenslade and on the last bowl in

2:07:54 > 2:07:58the third set. The drama started from the first end in this match.

2:07:58 > 2:08:06Exactly as we expected. Darren Burnett with a drive, the shot

2:08:06 > 2:08:10against, came out smelling of roses with a triple and followed it up

2:08:10 > 2:08:15with a single, but after that three ends, Jason took his bowl out and

2:08:15 > 2:08:23ended up handing Darren a four. He played a good second bowl. And then

2:08:23 > 2:08:27Darren, well, he replied with a poorer last bowl and gave Jason four

2:08:27 > 2:08:30back, and after that it was all getting very interesting until the

2:08:30 > 2:08:35measure and the green was pulled out and Jason realised, goodness me,

2:08:35 > 2:08:39I've lost the first set, and playing great stuff as well. Last bowl for a

2:08:39 > 2:08:47double for Darren and then the big gap, very unlucky.

2:08:47 > 2:08:54gap, very unlucky. Lost to two and just the last bowl for Jason crept

2:08:54 > 2:08:57in for a measure to force the tie-break and the last bowl of the

2:08:57 > 2:09:01tie-break, Darren Burnett gets through, world number nine through

2:09:01 > 2:09:06to the semifinal. It's been a fantastic game. When you look at the

2:09:06 > 2:09:15statistics, ends won, nothing in that, the touches, nothing in that.

2:09:15 > 2:09:18What an amazing game. And for Darren to get over the line he will be

2:09:18 > 2:09:25delighted with that performance.

2:09:25 > 2:09:28What a great match, congratulations to Darren Burnett through to the

2:09:28 > 2:09:34semifinal once again. As you came off a few moments ago you said, "I'm

2:09:34 > 2:09:39drained."Absolutely, the first set was such a strange set, I thought I

2:09:39 > 2:09:42was in control and Jason just came into a really good game and probably

2:09:42 > 2:09:47shouldn't have played a role when I did and lost a four and just seemed

2:09:47 > 2:09:52to implode and was lucky to grab the first set but it was just that kind

2:09:52 > 2:09:56of game, you never knew who would get over the line, even on the last

2:09:56 > 2:09:59bowl I didn't know if it would run enough but thankfully it did.Talk

2:09:59 > 2:10:03us through that because your heart must have been pounding when you

2:10:03 > 2:10:07released it.I played such a bad third one, that's what confused me,

2:10:07 > 2:10:07whether Tourond Jason's

2:10:07 > 2:10:08third one, that's what confused me, whether Tourond Jason's bowl, so

2:10:08 > 2:10:12after a long time thinking about it I decided the draw was the best

2:10:12 > 2:10:17option, and I knew it was down a good track but the last yard took

2:10:17 > 2:10:23forever to roll and I'm just delighted.Just getting in the end

2:10:23 > 2:10:28to win, what does it mean for you to be in the semifinal. It means a lot,

2:10:28 > 2:10:31this is the biggest event on the indoor circuit, the greatest place

2:10:31 > 2:10:35to play bowls in the world and you don't want it to end on quarterfinal

2:10:35 > 2:10:39day and it has done a few times. Now I can look forward to the semi-.

2:10:39 > 2:10:43Many congratulations, well done to the winner of this match, Darren

2:10:43 > 2:10:49Burnett, through to the semifinals once again.

2:10:49 > 2:10:54Let's bring you the news of what is coming up on the BBC bowls wise,

2:10:54 > 2:10:57tonight the final match in the quarterfinals between Mervyn King

2:10:57 > 2:11:03and Robert Paxton on the BBC sport website from 7:30pm. And then

2:11:03 > 2:11:10highlights of all four quarterfinal matches on BBC Two at 12:40am. And

2:11:10 > 2:11:17coming up after us on BBC Two at 5pm we have action from the Australian

2:11:17 > 2:11:22Open tennis and FA Cup fourth round in Match of the Day on BBC One at

2:11:22 > 2:11:277:30pm, Yeovil Town against Manchester United.

2:11:28 > 2:11:32Darren Burnett is excited about getting through to the semifinal but

2:11:32 > 2:11:36he has quite a CV on him, not only a former world champion but also a

2:11:36 > 2:11:40Commonwealth Games gold medalist and he, like many of the sport's leading

2:11:40 > 2:11:43players, looking forward to another renewal of the great games taking

2:11:43 > 2:11:50place down under.

2:11:50 > 2:11:55This will be my fifth Commonwealth Games coming up, the last one in

2:11:55 > 2:12:00Glasgow, a special one for evermore. It's been one of the good events to

2:12:00 > 2:12:05win because I've had that for four years but I'm sure, Australia people

2:12:05 > 2:12:10will be trying to get it off us.We have the Gold Coast and its fast

2:12:10 > 2:12:15approaching. I can't believe it's just over two months away. Obviously

2:12:15 > 2:12:19we did so well in Glasgow and we hope to repeat that, if not better

2:12:19 > 2:12:26it. We have got an amazing squad. And are really happy squad. The team

2:12:26 > 2:12:30dynamic is fantastic and I'm sure the guys will do us all proud.I

2:12:30 > 2:12:34think it's the pinnacle for this sport and what makes it so special

2:12:34 > 2:12:38is when you are there you are in the athletes' village and it's hard to

2:12:38 > 2:12:41explain that to someone who hasn't experienced it because you are

2:12:41 > 2:12:44rubbing shoulders with people who are at the top of their sport,

2:12:44 > 2:12:48people you see on the television and watch them and admire and you are

2:12:48 > 2:12:53standing next to them in the laundry cube and it's a very surreal

2:12:53 > 2:12:57sensation -- laundry cube. And for once bowlers are considered to be

2:12:57 > 2:13:02athletes and I think that's really special. It's the whole environment,

2:13:02 > 2:13:06the media attention, it is our moment in the spotlight, it's really

2:13:06 > 2:13:10important that as bowlers we paint ourselves in the best possible light

2:13:10 > 2:13:16we can.When I received the notification that I had been

2:13:16 > 2:13:20selected, Bowles is huge in Australia and with the Commonwealth

2:13:20 > 2:13:22Games, people will watch all different sports so it should be

2:13:22 > 2:13:26packed and the atmosphere will be electric. I've been to Australia a

2:13:26 > 2:13:30few times, there is worse places to go but that's just a bonus where the

2:13:30 > 2:13:35trip is but the main thing is we are out there to do a job and come back

2:13:35 > 2:13:37with medals.It's my first Commonwealth Games so I don't know

2:13:37 > 2:13:46what to expect and I were just go into it and try and

2:13:46 > 2:13:48into it and try and do my country proud. I have the singles which is

2:13:48 > 2:13:51the blue ribbon event as well and I will just go into that and try and

2:13:51 > 2:13:54play singles like I do here and do the best for myself and all the

2:13:54 > 2:13:57other guys in the team. Really looking forward to the triple

2:13:57 > 2:13:59because I love the team events, the Carraro to read between the team is

2:13:59 > 2:14:02really good so I'm looking forward to that. It's great when bowls can

2:14:02 > 2:14:04be put more to the forefront somebody who participates in bowls,

2:14:04 > 2:14:08we always get our fair share of attention, it is a sport you could

2:14:08 > 2:14:13play from six years of age up to 70 or 80 and compete still at a

2:14:13 > 2:14:16high-level. It is a sport I have always loved and I see no reason why

2:14:16 > 2:14:21you cannot give it more coverage, to be honest.Someone else who is going

2:14:21 > 2:14:26to be at the Commonwealth Games on the will of games is David Corkill,

2:14:26 > 2:14:31Tambe will lead the commentary team. It's an exciting team. We saw in

2:14:31 > 2:14:35Glasgow how well Scotland did -- Corky will lead the commentary team.

2:14:35 > 2:14:39I guess they will have a major say as to where the medals go.I think

2:14:39 > 2:14:43so, some of the greatest players that have ever played the game on a

2:14:43 > 2:14:47fast service and those players in the Scottish team all played indoor

2:14:47 > 2:14:50and they are multiple world champion so when they go to play there it

2:14:50 > 2:14:54won't be a big change for them. Someone who will be there as part of

2:14:54 > 2:14:59the team will be Darren Burnett who just won. In Glasgow he was a major

2:14:59 > 2:15:03part in a major component of Scotland's success.At absolutely,

2:15:03 > 2:15:06lots of people thought just maybe Alex Marshall or Paul Foster would

2:15:06 > 2:15:11get that but they put that pair together, and because he did that it

2:15:11 > 2:15:16meant Darren was able to fly high in the singles, he won the gold medal

2:15:16 > 2:15:19and he also won the World Championship the same year. And

2:15:19 > 2:15:23where are we for years later? In the semifinal and the Commonwealth Games

2:15:23 > 2:15:29in the same year.Corky drawing parallels. What about Katherine

2:15:29 > 2:15:32Rednall who won the Lady single title this year and is playing as

2:15:32 > 2:15:36well as anybody we have ever seen in that particular category. What sort

2:15:36 > 2:15:39of Commonwealth Games might she be expecting herself rather than what

2:15:39 > 2:15:45we are expecting of her?She will expect even more than we expect,

2:15:45 > 2:15:50Katherine will leave if she carries her form from the outdoors. It's

2:15:50 > 2:15:53different, on grass, there is wind about the place and it's a hard

2:15:53 > 2:15:57surface if you haven't played much on it.You have quite a lot of

2:15:57 > 2:16:00experience of playing and commentating in Australia. What

2:16:00 > 2:16:04would be the major difference from the people who are entertaining us

2:16:04 > 2:16:08here this week so royally? What would they have to do differently

2:16:08 > 2:16:12Australia?It's the weather conditions and not just that, also

2:16:12 > 2:16:17the heat. It is warm here but nothing like the Gold Coast and the

2:16:17 > 2:16:20grass, there are different types of ways of playing on that grass and

2:16:20 > 2:16:23different styles but they have been out there before and that's the key

2:16:23 > 2:16:27to it. Those major events they went to, to look at it in the Test

2:16:27 > 2:16:31series, that will put them in good stead for the team going.Corky,

2:16:31 > 2:16:35thank you for the moment. We are going to concentrate on our third

2:16:35 > 2:16:38quarterfinal between Wayne Willgress and Greg Harlow, 111, who will have

2:16:38 > 2:16:42a major task on his hands if Willgress can repeat the

2:16:42 > 2:16:46roller-coaster ride to victory he enjoyed last night.

2:16:46 > 2:16:51He has won ball to stay in this championship, how good is this? He's

2:16:51 > 2:16:59got it!I've calmed down a bit after last night, had a beer to celebrate,

2:16:59 > 2:17:03nothing too much but just to calm me down and come back down and get off

2:17:03 > 2:17:08the high-level I was on and come back down to normal. I have to thank

2:17:08 > 2:17:12my fans for turning up. Some of my fans couldn't turn up but they were

2:17:12 > 2:17:18there to cheer me on and get me past the post. Hopefully they will be

2:17:18 > 2:17:22back taking sick keys and asking the boss for the afternoon off. They

2:17:22 > 2:17:31will be back to help me on -- six day. I'm getting married in October.

2:17:31 > 2:17:36This is my second ever WBT event, I won the qualifier two years ago in

2:17:36 > 2:17:40Scotland in Perth and lost to Greg in the quarterfinal that time, so

2:17:40 > 2:17:45hopefully I will get a bit of revenge. If you don't play well you

2:17:45 > 2:17:49will get a hiding so I just have to go out there and do my thing and

2:17:49 > 2:17:53keep my fingers crossed.I've played when many times in tournaments in

2:17:53 > 2:17:56Lincoln and national finals and once on the tour before and I did manage

2:17:56 > 2:18:00to get over the line up in Scotland. He's improved a lot since then, the

2:18:00 > 2:18:04last couple of years, he doesn't play the big drive as much as he

2:18:04 > 2:18:08used to, he used to drive a lot and he has rained that in and he is a

2:18:08 > 2:18:12lot tougher opponent to play than he was a couple of years ago.

2:18:12 > 2:18:20Quarterfinals, always an interesting round, I look at every event to try

2:18:20 > 2:18:22to get into the latter stages, so realistically the quarterfinals as

2:18:22 > 2:18:25the turning point and if you can get through that one you are in the

2:18:25 > 2:18:28business end of the tournament. 2010 when I won this title and I would

2:18:28 > 2:18:34ideally like to win it again. One round at the time. Ideally another

2:18:34 > 2:18:37three rounds but it's a long way away to start thinking about the

2:18:37 > 2:18:41title. Well, Wayne Willgress is making a

2:18:41 > 2:18:45habit of knocking out former champions to get as far as he has.

2:18:45 > 2:18:49He defeated Andy Thomson in the first round and Stewart Anderson

2:18:49 > 2:18:53last night, and guess what, he has another former champion in his way,

2:18:53 > 2:18:56this time the world number one Greg Harlow who defeated Martin Beckett

2:18:56 > 2:19:03in round one and Scott Edwards in round two. And we expect quite an

2:19:03 > 2:19:07atmosphere in the auditorium this afternoon because Wayne Willgress

2:19:07 > 2:19:10last night was involved in arguably the match of the tournament,

2:19:10 > 2:19:14certainly the open singles so far. Corky, you were covering it and saw

2:19:14 > 2:19:18it all, it was extraordinary to watch. It was marvellous but the

2:19:18 > 2:19:24atmosphere was fantastic, a lot of noise, and while it was fair to

2:19:24 > 2:19:27Stewart Anderson they were right behind Wayne and they let him know

2:19:27 > 2:19:32they were there. It is great to see that sort of slightly more

2:19:32 > 2:19:35enthusiastic, slightly different type of crowd in here at Potters,

2:19:35 > 2:19:39because normally there are quite respectful and reserved. We need

2:19:39 > 2:19:46this sort of interaction which is important. Wayne made one of those

2:19:46 > 2:19:49four, Stewart missed one and then he played this ball, the last bowl,

2:19:49 > 2:19:55right up to the jack, and gave Stuart nowhere to go, and Stuart was

2:19:55 > 2:20:01in control at 6-2 but three ends later he's gone.Tell us about Wayne

2:20:01 > 2:20:04Willgress, we know he has met Greg Harlow once before a couple of years

2:20:04 > 2:20:09ago and Greg came out on top. How different is he now and how much of

2:20:09 > 2:20:14a better player is he in 2018?When you are young that progression is

2:20:14 > 2:20:18rapid and that happens very quickly. When you are a bit older the

2:20:18 > 2:20:21graduation slows down a little bit until you reach the top. But he's

2:20:21 > 2:20:27learned how to play the game, that's the key. You have to be good on the

2:20:27 > 2:20:31portable rink. You can be good everywhere else but this is a

2:20:31 > 2:20:34different environment.Andy Thomson and Stewart Anderson, he's beaten

2:20:34 > 2:20:37them already come as good as they have been in the last few years, how

2:20:37 > 2:20:41much confidence will he have gained, or does not matter coming into

2:20:41 > 2:20:44today's game?It matters in terms of getting over the line, Andy didn't

2:20:44 > 2:20:49play well and we all said that, but Wayne did, when you beat Stewart

2:20:49 > 2:20:55Anderson and he's

2:20:56 > 2:20:58Anderson and he's playing well, that's when you know you are in with

2:20:58 > 2:21:01a big shout and he did play well.He has the world, one standing in his

2:21:01 > 2:21:04way today, Greg Harlow, who is also well loved by most of this audience.

2:21:04 > 2:21:06Yes, because he works here and he's been ever present, whereas Wayne is

2:21:06 > 2:21:11a newcomer in this environment. We have known Wayne for a lot of years

2:21:11 > 2:21:13and we know he's a good player and it's not about being a good player,

2:21:13 > 2:21:17it's how he handles the atmosphere of a quarterfinal.I guess with the

2:21:17 > 2:21:22player we are seeing at the moment, Greg Harlow, he's handled it

2:21:22 > 2:21:27brilliantly in the past, and if it gets to tense moments you would

2:21:27 > 2:21:30imagine that Greg Harlow would be able to cope with those better than

2:21:30 > 2:21:33Wayne at this stage. The instincts of Greg, and certainly the

2:21:33 > 2:21:39experience of the last 20 years. But when Greg was Wayne's age, he was

2:21:39 > 2:21:41flamboyant and aggressive and played the game in a different way and

2:21:41 > 2:21:44wasn't that successful until he changed his game, and that's what

2:21:44 > 2:21:48made Greg Harlow the player he is now.One of the interesting thing is

2:21:48 > 2:21:53speaking to Greg early on was he said against Martin in the first

2:21:53 > 2:21:59round he perhaps at his best but he was a bit better against Scott

2:21:59 > 2:22:01Edwards in the second round, which is what he says you need to do in

2:22:01 > 2:22:03tournaments, you need to get a bit better every round because in order

2:22:03 > 2:22:09to maintain your focus you have to leave yourself somewhere to go.You

2:22:09 > 2:22:12do but a lot depends on the opposition, Martin played well,

2:22:12 > 2:22:15Scott played well but not as good as Martin, didn't put the same pressure

2:22:15 > 2:22:20on and that's where the difference was. Greg's game has gone up a bit,

2:22:20 > 2:22:23was here that to play better in the second round? Maybe, it all comes

2:22:23 > 2:22:28down to the first two balls and the odd bit of luck on the run. What

2:22:28 > 2:22:33will be Wayne Willgress -- what where the Wayne Willgress team like

2:22:33 > 2:22:38in the audience? They were noisy, it was more like a crown green in many

2:22:38 > 2:22:42ways, we know what it is like, there was noise, they were respectful but

2:22:42 > 2:22:45calling balls from yards away and they knew what he was talking about

2:22:45 > 2:22:49and when he got close the roof was coming.Last night this place was

2:22:49 > 2:22:53Wayne Manor, who will come out on top tonight? You have to go with

2:22:53 > 2:22:58Greg, you must on the basis of those years of experience, being here,

2:22:58 > 2:23:02done it, bought the T-shirt and threw it away. He knows exactly what

2:23:02 > 2:23:09he's doing under every circumstance. Will Wayne be able to rise up above

2:23:09 > 2:23:14last night? That is a tough one.Is it a simple of what we have said all

2:23:14 > 2:23:17along previewing these top matches, you need to get the first Bowls,

2:23:17 > 2:23:22simple as getting this tactics right? That's the first point of

2:23:22 > 2:23:25reference, get your first two Bowls in but after that it's about choice

2:23:25 > 2:23:30of shot on the basis of how the rink is playing and the rink itself is

2:23:30 > 2:23:32complicated, so sometimes the obvious shot you think you should

2:23:32 > 2:23:36play and it looks obvious but it's not the right shot. The higher

2:23:36 > 2:23:41percentage to get something else on the other side. That knowledge Greg

2:23:41 > 2:23:46has in abundance but Wayne doesn't, so that could become a factor.Would

2:23:46 > 2:23:50it be fair to say in terms of atmosphere this is the most

2:23:50 > 2:23:53anticipated match of the week so far?Absolutely, no doubt, because

2:23:53 > 2:23:58they are both local and it will be fascinating to see, because as the

2:23:58 > 2:24:01afternoon, can Wayne get enough people in here, instead of last

2:24:01 > 2:24:05night when everybody was off to really give this a bit of

2:24:05 > 2:24:10aggression? We need a bit more punch.Let's not keep the players

2:24:10 > 2:24:13waiting any longer, as Corky said this is the most eagerly anticipated

2:24:13 > 2:24:17match of the week so far of the singles. Wayne Willgress with huge

2:24:17 > 2:24:22support behind him up against local favourite in world number one Greg

2:24:22 > 2:24:25Harlow. Let's join our MC Richard Bear to get the players out on the

2:24:25 > 2:24:30blue rink.First to our local qualifier from Norfolk who saw three

2:24:30 > 2:24:34times world indoor singles champion Andy Thomson and was number seven

2:24:34 > 2:24:38Stewart Anderson to earn himself a place in this quarterfinal match.

2:24:38 > 2:24:47The question is, can he do even one better? The former National mixed

2:24:47 > 2:24:50fours champion, give it up for Wayne Willgress.

2:24:54 > 2:24:59DANCE MUSIC

2:25:10 > 2:25:16and next to one of the game's most naturally gifted players on the

2:25:16 > 2:25:18circuit, three times International, twice Scottish Open champion, and

2:25:18 > 2:25:22former world indoor singles and players to him, it is the world

2:25:22 > 2:25:27number one Greg Harlow.

2:25:27 > 2:25:36ROCK MUSIC

2:25:39 > 2:25:44it is buzzing at Potters this afternoon, will it be Wayne's world

2:25:44 > 2:25:46this afternoon or will the world number one bring an end to his title

2:25:46 > 2:25:53hopes? Here are John Price and Corky. DAVID CORKILL: Ritchie, you

2:25:53 > 2:25:59had to get it in, Wayne's world at Potters Leisure Resort. -- Richie

2:25:59 > 2:26:01Bennett

2:26:04 > 2:26:09it is lovely to see a player who really enjoyed the shots and the

2:26:09 > 2:26:13winning.You could see how emotional he was at the end, the bottom lip

2:26:13 > 2:26:18was starting to go as well and it was a great night for him and his

2:26:18 > 2:26:21family and fans and he would love to do it again but this man will have a

2:26:21 > 2:26:27lot more ideas. Greg is a very good professional, this will be a tough

2:26:27 > 2:26:34game for Wayne.

2:26:43 > 2:26:50APPLAUSE

2:26:50 > 2:26:53I think Wayne Willgress for a very good start, he needs to come out of

2:26:53 > 2:26:59the blocks quickly and get the crowd on his side. I think that's his

2:26:59 > 2:27:01secret.

2:27:06 > 2:27:14How is that for a start?

2:27:14 > 2:27:20It sounds to me like some of Wayne's supporters are in. Interesting, Greg

2:27:20 > 2:27:26will be very controlled. He will block that out. We actually like

2:27:26 > 2:27:31that, John. Over the years, we have always been told in this situation

2:27:31 > 2:27:36they start cheering for you you are the underdog in many ways and the

2:27:36 > 2:27:40expectation is that your opposition is going to win the match. Greg

2:27:40 > 2:27:49Harlow just knows this rink so well. Yeah, the one thing Greg, talking

2:27:49 > 2:27:53about game management, Hayes is very good, probably one of the best on

2:27:53 > 2:28:02the circuit, if not the best. -- his is very good.

2:28:02 > 2:28:08Three inches.

2:28:08 > 2:28:10Yes, all the great champions have that, Paul Foster, Alex Marshall,

2:28:10 > 2:28:16they have game management winning matches when they are being

2:28:16 > 2:28:24outplayed and they get over the line. That is really match craft.

2:28:53 > 2:29:05Well, still a draw but the weight shot is still available. He has a

2:29:05 > 2:29:12good track again. He could do this if he gets a touch on the Bowls.

2:29:12 > 2:29:15Just dropped out.

2:29:20 > 2:29:25Wayne's last bowl is five inches short of jack high.

2:29:35 > 2:29:38Rebecca Field, Wayne's partner, in the middle of the picture in the

2:29:38 > 2:29:49glasses. I honestly don't think you can make a mistake with Rebecca in

2:29:49 > 2:29:54the middle as a partner. Came running out onto the green yesterday

2:29:54 > 2:30:01when he won.

2:30:01 > 2:30:07The Willgress Barmy Army are in that corner and they will be keen to get

2:30:07 > 2:30:14involved. They will be on their feet.In some respects it's a bit

2:30:14 > 2:30:18unfortunate that it's an afternoon game. It is great to be on live

2:30:18 > 2:30:21television but in the evening I would imagine there would have been

2:30:21 > 2:30:26a lot of the young guys down and it could have got quite rowdy, which

2:30:26 > 2:30:33would have been wonderful.

2:30:36 > 2:30:40Aware of the fact Wayne has a running ball available to him if he

2:30:40 > 2:30:48wants to play it.Yanking on this lying to get in between the green

2:30:48 > 2:30:56and red to the jack. That's not a bad position.It's still there,

2:30:56 > 2:30:59though. Still available if he wants to play it. It's a bit more

2:30:59 > 2:31:04dangerous, he could give the shot way to make it two. That three ball

2:31:04 > 2:31:10plant.Yes, there is one there, three ball plant. The trouble is,

2:31:10 > 2:31:14there's the outside green one which could, in if he's a bit on the wide

2:31:14 > 2:31:20side. Might play it anyway. Yes, going for it.He is playing for

2:31:20 > 2:31:25plant. He needs to get it solid.I think he is going to be OK because

2:31:25 > 2:31:31the green bowl has gone off the confines. Good effort but didn't

2:31:31 > 2:31:44hold up the bowl long enough. Just the one.

2:31:44 > 2:31:48the one. Good end.

2:32:19 > 2:32:27Jack length, 27 metres.

2:32:39 > 2:32:44APPLAUSE .

2:34:02 > 2:34:09The correction by Wayne was quite considerable. Just wanted to put two

2:34:09 > 2:34:17feet on, two yards on. Once again, Greg is not too close with this,

2:34:17 > 2:34:28either.A little scrappy on this end, both players.

2:34:32 > 2:34:40He's not sure about this. The line looks slightly over on the wide side

2:34:40 > 2:34:45but it's more on the weight than anything. Got back to virtually

2:34:45 > 2:34:50centre rink. He must've known he was slightly the weight.A scratch of

2:34:50 > 2:35:00the head there. He is bemused by that one.He will not be bemused if

2:35:00 > 2:35:06Greg misses this, because he'll know exactly what to do. It is important

2:35:06 > 2:35:13he gets this bowl in.

2:35:13 > 2:35:17APPLAUSE

2:35:17 > 2:35:23Well, there's a temptation here with the backhand.Wayne would look for

2:35:23 > 2:35:32this normally. A good split, remove the two greens.Hasn't drawn close

2:35:32 > 2:35:41so even if he takes on away...

2:35:41 > 2:35:46Where is it going on the re-spot? It is going off and the re-spot favours

2:35:46 > 2:35:56green. That has stayed on but I think he will be unlucky here.

2:35:56 > 2:36:01Wanted the split, he gets the shot and the jack has refounded. Those

2:36:01 > 2:36:05green balls are going through. He might be a shot or two down.Or even

2:36:05 > 2:36:15three. Take that one out... Take that one out, it's the third one

2:36:15 > 2:36:20they're looking at.Three shots, Greg Harlow.That was unlucky, it

2:36:20 > 2:36:26really was. He was in the area. It cost him an extra shot, the split of

2:36:26 > 2:36:33bowls.

2:36:52 > 2:36:54Jack length, 28 metres.

2:37:15 > 2:37:27APPLAUSE Very good start by Greg Harlow.

2:37:44 > 2:37:49This is what Greg will do, peppering the jack and forcing Greg to make

2:37:49 > 2:37:57the weight shots and making sure he doesn't have a bad end. Last night

2:37:57 > 2:38:014-0 against Anderson after four ends. Then he levelled the scores. I

2:38:01 > 2:38:07don't think it will happen this time.

2:38:07 > 2:38:16time.Turned the jack.

2:38:27 > 2:38:39E is better with this one. Just needs to stop.

2:39:08 > 2:39:18Five inch gap to the last Kaboul. -- last bowl.

2:39:32 > 2:39:37This is better weight by Wayne. Again, a little unfortunate. The

2:39:37 > 2:39:49drop away by the bowl. It is still one green.

2:40:08 > 2:40:13Greg is pushing this through. It is the back red bowl I thought he might

2:40:13 > 2:40:21go for.A good shot on the forehand for Wayne to get off his own bowl

2:40:21 > 2:40:27and punch into the green one, run it off. The only pressure there will be

2:40:27 > 2:40:32is if he takes his own out, it will cost him another shot.Well, he will

2:40:32 > 2:40:37look to come into that split between red and green. It depends how much

2:40:37 > 2:40:44weight he uses, that's the only question.

2:40:44 > 2:40:50question.He is going quite strong at it.He is under. How is his luck?

2:40:54 > 2:41:02One shot, Greg Harlow. APPLAUSE

2:41:03 > 2:41:110- five after five ends. That is what the target will be for

2:41:11 > 2:41:17Wayne to get on the scoreboard and get those first two tuna tartare

2:41:17 > 2:41:22going. Every end Gregus getting in front of him, and that is costly. It

2:41:22 > 2:41:28put him under pressure every time.

2:41:51 > 2:42:00APPLAUSE Another really good start.

2:42:18 > 2:42:22That first bowl is just not going. I know it is early days but that sort

2:42:22 > 2:42:28of pressure builds up on you. Greg won't let go.I did feel that Wayne,

2:42:28 > 2:42:32after last night as well, it was important he started Wells today.

2:42:32 > 2:42:37The opposite happened, really. Greg has taken control early on. Good

2:42:37 > 2:42:40stuff by Greg.

2:42:54 > 2:43:00Better weight on this.Dropping short but certainly looked closer.

2:43:00 > 2:43:05It is one of those things where it is the master and the apprentice,

2:43:05 > 2:43:13isn't it, John? How far has the apprentice progress today, master?

2:43:13 > 2:43:17Wayne had such a game last night, the crowd from a feed. Difficult to

2:43:17 > 2:43:21come out, you have to raise it again, especially against the world

2:43:21 > 2:43:26number one. -- the crowd were on their feet. He's not quite got on

2:43:26 > 2:43:29his game yet, Wayne Willgress. You cannot leave it too long because

2:43:29 > 2:43:34this man will put you away very quickly. That is a good bowl by

2:43:34 > 2:43:46Greg.Change onto the forehand, Mac craft. Don't play the backhand and

2:43:46 > 2:43:51give a shoulder.Making Wayne play a very good bowl. He's giving this a

2:43:51 > 2:43:58try.He is close, very close. Well, just hit the jack and dropped away.

2:43:58 > 2:44:08That's more like it.One green. Yes, that was a really good effort

2:44:08 > 2:44:13by Wayne. Just unfortunate it fell back. Still one green.

2:44:36 > 2:44:41If he drops off that it will be good... Just running through. It is

2:44:41 > 2:44:46the same bowl for Wayne. He needs to reach the side green and drop it

2:44:46 > 2:44:53out.

2:44:53 > 2:44:58It's really only a draw. Can't afford to be heavy to it. Red bowl

2:44:58 > 2:45:01on the jack would be very costly.

2:45:07 > 2:45:15Going to struggle to get back. The weight wasn't bad. It's another

2:45:15 > 2:45:24single. Greg will just be rattling off the ends here. 6-0.

2:45:24 > 2:45:33Concentrating on scoring on every end.

2:45:33 > 2:45:38Wayne is on the cusp of the top 16, if he was to make this match. It

2:45:38 > 2:45:43would make a massive difference to him, but Greg, he doesn't really

2:45:43 > 2:45:47need the ranking points. He is well ahead at the moment. The people just

2:45:47 > 2:45:57behind him, Jamie, Nicky, are gone. I do think Greg will be thinking

2:45:57 > 2:46:00ranking points and position on ranking. He will just be thinking, I

2:46:00 > 2:46:03want to win the World Championship again.Don't worry about it too much

2:46:03 > 2:46:09at the top. That's the stage he sat in his career. The most of the

2:46:09 > 2:46:14things he wants to do in the indoor game. This is one he would like to

2:46:14 > 2:46:23do, at a second indoor title.

2:46:36 > 2:46:41Not that many people leading of this backhand away from the commentary

2:46:41 > 2:46:50position. Most players using the forehand.

2:47:14 > 2:47:20Katherine Rednall and boyfriend Jake at the centre of your picture.

2:47:20 > 2:47:25Justine themselves on the big screen. A little smile and a wave.

2:47:25 > 2:47:34-- just seen themselves. Katherine picked for the Gold Coast, 22. It's

2:47:34 > 2:47:39a big trip when you are 22.A great opportunity to play in the

2:47:39 > 2:47:44Commonwealth Games in Australia. Greg Harlow gave her a load of

2:47:44 > 2:47:47credit yesterday, said it was the best performance he had seen from a

2:47:47 > 2:47:50lady in these championships. I wouldn't say that myself but I

2:47:50 > 2:47:55thought she was very, very good. Not sure, would have do think about that

2:47:55 > 2:48:00and go back in my memory banks but it was an impressive display. I

2:48:00 > 2:48:05think the difference was Rebecca Field just wasn't up on it enough.

2:48:05 > 2:48:08That was a difference. Katherine Rednall played really well and you

2:48:08 > 2:48:12can only do what the opposition allows you to do, and that is if you

2:48:12 > 2:48:20play well, you stack them up.

2:48:20 > 2:48:23play well, you stack them up.She is a very classy player, Katherine

2:48:23 > 2:48:26Not

2:48:29 > 2:48:33No doubt Katherine will go on to better things. Sometimes getting to

2:48:33 > 2:48:37the top is easy but staying there is a bit harder, as Natalie said. That

2:48:37 > 2:48:47is a great bowl.APPLAUSE Up to this point, a bit scrappy.

2:48:47 > 2:48:58Wayne really needs to get on this card. This is his opportunity.

2:49:14 > 2:49:24That is a poor end from Greg. It is only one. Should lose another.

2:49:24 > 2:49:28only one. Should lose another. Very hard to gauge, of course. This is

2:49:28 > 2:49:32indoor and it's a different situation. Some of the championships

2:49:32 > 2:49:38have a very limited field, a high-quality field but limit limited

2:49:38 > 2:49:42to three matches. The outdoor game is a whole lot different, John,

2:49:42 > 2:49:46isn't it? Especially in the UK, all the different greens and weather

2:49:46 > 2:49:53conditions you are experiencing. Wayne's coming in here, going to

2:49:53 > 2:50:02have a second anti-needed that. That is more like it. -- and he needed

2:50:02 > 2:50:12that.Two shots, Wayne Willgress. Good bowl by Wayne. Gets the crowd

2:50:12 > 2:50:18interested and he needs to get them up with him.

2:50:18 > 2:50:25As usual on a Friday, bigger crowd here. Quite often there is just a

2:50:25 > 2:50:29few seats open to those who make their way back from the first match

2:50:29 > 2:50:35in the afternoon.

2:50:35 > 2:50:37in the afternoon. Yes, good to put performances into context.

2:50:37 > 2:50:42I think when you go out and play as well as Katherine Rednall did

2:50:42 > 2:50:46yesterday, it's more a matter of if you can do that on a fast carpet

2:50:46 > 2:50:51with a big crowd in front of the television cameras live, you know

2:50:51 > 2:50:55you can handle the pressure got a very confident player. There weren't

2:50:55 > 2:51:01too many people that could have handled Katherine in that final. It

2:51:01 > 2:51:05would have been quite difficult for them.

2:51:07 > 2:51:14Now then, Wayne just played a really good end. A little bit loose with

2:51:14 > 2:51:21the first.

2:51:48 > 2:51:52He is not sure about this one. Certainly better but it is a little

2:51:52 > 2:52:03bit past. Just to match, isn't it, John?Beat the green but you expect

2:52:03 > 2:52:13great to get inside -- Greg to get inside. Against the very, very top

2:52:13 > 2:52:17players, David, you know you have to get on tight to the jack. Especially

2:52:17 > 2:52:23in your first to ward three deliveries.-- two or three

2:52:23 > 2:52:34deliveries. Beaten by the match all. -- ball. Just needs to tighten up on

2:52:34 > 2:52:41his first two.

2:52:41 > 2:52:46He has undercooked this.Move to the forehand and what happens? Drop

2:52:46 > 2:52:57short.I don't know why he did that, he was only 18 inches overweight.

2:52:57 > 2:53:05Giving Greg a free rein on this site again. Here he comes again, it's

2:53:05 > 2:53:11running in, it's going to count. Just enough. Not a particularly

2:53:11 > 2:53:16brilliant bowl but it's good enough. It puts the pressure on, doesn't it,

2:53:16 > 2:53:19onto the forehand again?

2:53:24 > 2:53:30Better.

2:53:30 > 2:53:36Better... Needs to stop. Needs to drop. Neither of which happened. So

2:53:36 > 2:53:44one green.One green and Greg will know it's a straightforward draw. If

2:53:44 > 2:53:48he drops out, he properly gets a three. Anything inside until just

2:53:48 > 2:53:55add another. -- and he will just add another.

2:54:06 > 2:54:15He is close to the jack with this.

2:54:25 > 2:54:32Two shots, Greg Harlow.APPLAUSE Hasn't been too difficult for Greg

2:54:32 > 2:54:37Harlow so far. He's getting the space to draw bowls in when he is

2:54:37 > 2:54:43under pressure. I'm afraid to say, from Wayne's point of view, he

2:54:43 > 2:54:47really hasn't started to get going in this match. It's been difficult,

2:54:47 > 2:54:51hasn't got any momentum going and Greg is controlling the game. He is

2:54:51 > 2:54:55very comfortable at the moment. Not a lot for the crowd to get excited

2:54:55 > 2:55:00about, as far as Wayne is concerned. A long way to go yet. He has to

2:55:00 > 2:55:08stick in and play himself in and make a run later in the match.

2:55:08 > 2:55:12The way Wayne is going at the moment, he will struggle to get this

2:55:12 > 2:55:15set back.

2:55:24 > 2:55:28Well, a chance now.

2:55:36 > 2:55:40Short bowl, need to get that first one in when you get an opportunity.

2:55:40 > 2:55:48Hasn't done it.This is a struggle, isn't it?Yes, needs to get past

2:55:48 > 2:55:51that bowl forced stop when Greg plays loose you have to get past the

2:55:51 > 2:55:57green ball, get in front of it, make it count. What he will do now, Greg,

2:55:57 > 2:56:05is swap sides. Probably play a closer bowl on the line in.

2:56:05 > 2:56:12APPLAUSE

2:56:34 > 2:56:46Recovery balls, isn't it?Down to the third bowl, he will be two down.

2:56:47 > 2:56:55Greg won't mind this at all, another bowl going in. An open draw there.

2:56:55 > 2:57:03Two green. Now then, Wayne...He's not sure

2:57:03 > 2:57:10again.

2:57:14 > 2:57:23He knew he was off the line, John, when he let it go.

2:57:23 > 2:57:31Greg could feed off the red ball with the forehand. Yes, that's what

2:57:31 > 2:57:39he's doing.

2:57:44 > 2:57:50Just trying to come in on his own bowl.Yes, number three coming in.

2:57:50 > 2:57:58Three green.The top players, it's like a practice game at the moment.

2:57:58 > 2:58:03We need a bit more coming back from Wayne. He is giving the crowd

2:58:03 > 2:58:07nothing at the moment, his fan club to feed off of. Greg will be more

2:58:07 > 2:58:12than happy with this.He is coming down to have a look at it. They

2:58:12 > 2:58:16won't like it when he sees it. Very little on with the forehand. A big

2:58:16 > 2:58:24drive down the middle and hope that something happens. Backhand, well,

2:58:24 > 2:58:30Punch the bowl.

2:58:30 > 2:58:35I suppose to be sure of getting the shot you have to draw the sideboard.

2:58:35 > 2:58:40If you are hitting, well, nothing really clean. It is speculative that

2:58:40 > 2:58:48very best. The shot bowl is on the backhand. It's just difficult,

2:58:48 > 2:58:59that's all. You have to be up and if you miss it, it's three.

2:59:00 > 2:59:05Yes, forced into trying to draw it. It makes it hard, because he has to

2:59:05 > 2:59:16reach.It is a sad over.The first set, Greg Harlow.And a very quick

2:59:16 > 2:59:18one but not terribly unexpected.

2:59:29 > 2:59:34It is all about trying to come out after last night for Wayne, isn't

2:59:34 > 2:59:39it? Hard to build yourself up again after something like that. After the

2:59:39 > 2:59:44Lord Mayor's show for Wayne at the moment. He hasn't really got going

2:59:44 > 2:59:47and you can't afford to do that against players like Greg Harlow. He

2:59:47 > 2:59:52will know that, he doesn't need to be told. He hasn't played his normal

2:59:52 > 2:59:56game. Greg is in control of the match, but the first set now is

2:59:56 > 3:00:00gone. He has to start again in the second, has to make things happen.

3:00:00 > 3:00:07It is a mini battle. If you can win this mini battle, the second set,

3:00:07 > 3:00:09the war is back on again.

3:00:52 > 3:00:54INAUDIBLE

3:01:40 > 3:01:49That is a lot better from Wayne. It's almost like he's put the first

3:01:49 > 3:01:54set away and time to concentrate on the second. Let's see more of what

3:01:54 > 3:01:58he's capable of. He is a very talented player, it's just at the

3:01:58 > 3:02:05moment we are not seeing it.

3:02:07 > 3:02:25Greg on the same line. Still good for Wayne. One red and a measure.

3:02:25 > 3:02:33Two read. The ball just dropped so it is a definite two red ball.

3:02:33 > 3:02:33Two read.The ball just dropped so it is a definite two redDon't

3:02:33 > 3:02:42overthink it, Wayne, go on and roll another one.

3:02:45 > 3:02:50another one. . The line again. The weight is good, it needs to bend in

3:02:50 > 3:02:59to it now. APPLAUSE

3:02:59 > 3:03:05It would help if the last bowl dropped.Greg on his favoured

3:03:05 > 3:03:13forehand will be right into this.

3:03:20 > 3:03:28He's interested. He's right down it. He left one behind, which was

3:03:28 > 3:03:32remarkable, to be truthful with you. I thought all three would go.He got

3:03:32 > 3:03:39through the gap. Wayne will settle for that, he can add another here

3:03:39 > 3:03:44with another good bold.If he had come off the edge of the bowl the

3:03:44 > 3:03:49jack would have been on for the re-spot and that would have been one

3:03:49 > 3:03:57or two to Wayne. Good enough result for Greg. He was right down the

3:03:57 > 3:04:02throat of it.

3:04:03 > 3:04:07throat of it.Just dropped the weight on this one.Wasn't

3:04:07 > 3:04:11particularly easy. He does need them.

3:04:27 > 3:04:32They know each other but there will not be an awful lot of chat in a

3:04:32 > 3:04:36game like this. Wayne just has to concentrate on what he's doing. Greg

3:04:36 > 3:04:43is always quite happy not to chat if his opponent isn't inclined to be

3:04:43 > 3:04:55that way. Some players just love to natter along during the games. You

3:04:55 > 3:05:00would natter along, John, but usually with the audience.Yeah, I

3:05:00 > 3:05:10liked a bit of a chat during the game.

3:05:10 > 3:05:19game.One or two at home, always like that.Sometimes you can work

3:05:19 > 3:05:23the crowd in your favour.Nobody watches him but he will try and get

3:05:23 > 3:05:35into your head. It's all part of the game.

3:05:41 > 3:05:50Good line in again by Greg, just wants to beat the red bowl.

3:05:53 > 3:05:55wants to beat the red bowl.Wayne has put in a decent first bowl and

3:05:55 > 3:06:04hasn't even had a chance to build on it.All Wayne can do is take care of

3:06:04 > 3:06:10his own business, and he has, he's upped his business from the first

3:06:10 > 3:06:23set, started drawing a few more close bowls.One green.

3:06:24 > 3:06:32Judy Potter in the background with her usual seat. Floral jacket today.

3:06:32 > 3:06:38Have you put your entry in for the competition, Dave? No, I know the

3:06:38 > 3:06:46answer, I'm staying away from it. Now, that's not bad, just dropped

3:06:46 > 3:06:56in, could have been a double.

3:07:14 > 3:07:21There is a bit of work to do with this one. Just not arriving in time.

3:07:21 > 3:07:28Three short bowls leaves you very few options.

3:07:29 > 3:07:33few options.Again, I thought you might use his backhand on his own

3:07:33 > 3:07:42bowl, the easier shot to rest in and use the shoulder. Greg can play the

3:07:42 > 3:07:46forehand, he knows the ball sitting on its back is not a danger if he

3:07:46 > 3:07:51hits it with good weight, if he gets inside that he is close. Just ran

3:07:51 > 3:08:01out of gas in the end. There is nothing easy year. I think it is a

3:08:01 > 3:08:08backhand shot for all Wayne, turn it in on the shoulder.Could be outside

3:08:08 > 3:08:13so easily on the hand. That's why he's played narrow. He's not

3:08:13 > 3:08:24running, John. Oh dear. Well, Greg's line too, absolutely no requirement

3:08:24 > 3:08:30to flirt with danger.

3:08:30 > 3:08:32to flirt with danger. The red ball is sitting so he's going forehand to

3:08:32 > 3:08:39try and negotiate it.

3:08:55 > 3:09:01He has just dropped away. I think he's probably made it. It was close.

3:09:01 > 3:09:12Looks like just the two.

3:09:24 > 3:09:26Two shots, Greg Harlow.

3:09:27 > 3:09:29APPLAUSE

3:09:31 > 3:09:42Set score, 1-2 after two ends.

3:10:38 > 3:10:42APPLAUSE

3:10:46 > 3:10:51Two feet short of jack high.Four short balls in the previous Anne and

3:10:51 > 3:10:59then the first one right up to the jack. -- the previous end.I think

3:10:59 > 3:11:04he knows that he's got to reach. He can't afford to be two or three

3:11:04 > 3:11:13balls against against top opposition. Greg is just inside it

3:11:13 > 3:11:21would that. Can Wayne Ty Davis up? Similar line -- can Wayne tidy this

3:11:21 > 3:11:28up?

3:11:34 > 3:11:38The crowd are calling him but he's caught the green one. The weight

3:11:38 > 3:11:42wasn't bad with that particular ball but his left it open again and you

3:11:42 > 3:11:56expect great to get to the ball this time. Turn it off, or turn the jack.

3:12:00 > 3:12:08He has overcooked this, it is heavy. I don't think he wanted that much

3:12:08 > 3:12:13weight.That was a chance.Wayne has got to try and get another bowl in

3:12:13 > 3:12:20here now.He might be tempted to change it to tidy that bowl up. If

3:12:20 > 3:12:24he can't get to the jack to turn it around and get on the backhand and

3:12:24 > 3:12:30get the jack high ball away. He agrees with me but he needs to be

3:12:30 > 3:12:41out wide to do it. He's dropping a lot of short balls, John. In a

3:12:41 > 3:12:47quarterfinal of the World Championships you can't do that.

3:12:47 > 3:12:51Again, I expect great to be a bit closer with this. He was very loose

3:12:51 > 3:12:55with the last one.

3:13:17 > 3:13:24He's got it this time. Too many chances.

3:13:24 > 3:13:28chances.Yeah, number one, Greg Harlow, two opportunities at that.

3:13:28 > 3:13:32Sooner or later he was going to get it right, his line and weight was

3:13:32 > 3:13:41good on this. He could have got the jack for two but that will do.

3:13:51 > 3:13:59He has to be on the inside line to get this right. Too wide. It is very

3:13:59 > 3:14:05hard, he needed that weight.

3:14:10 > 3:14:19Greg had three goes at that one. Yeah, it's not an easy afternoon at

3:14:19 > 3:14:22the moment for Wayne Willgress, the opposite of last night when he was

3:14:22 > 3:14:26inspired. Just can't get going, can't generate enough pressure on

3:14:26 > 3:14:31Greg.

3:14:37 > 3:14:40We were saying earlier about expectation, when you get to the top

3:14:40 > 3:14:44and have a good performance and people expect you to repeat it and

3:14:44 > 3:14:47people like Paul Foster and Alex have done that for years and that's

3:14:47 > 3:14:50why they are legends of the game but Wayne needs to generate something

3:14:50 > 3:14:55today to get back in the saddle to start performing. That's what it

3:14:55 > 3:15:04comes down to in the end. As we were saying before, the match craft of

3:15:04 > 3:15:10Greg will be very much in evidence in this match, and Wayne, the first

3:15:10 > 3:15:19two bowls of crucial for him, put into difficult positions.

3:15:22 > 3:15:25into difficult positions. He has started well, that is a good first

3:15:25 > 3:15:29bowl.

3:15:29 > 3:15:32Two and a half feet.

3:15:58 > 3:16:07Harlow dropping short this time. The gap on the shot role, two inches.

3:16:07 > 3:16:12-- the shot bowl.

3:16:27 > 3:16:31That's better. Behind the jack on the second bowl. The last one,

3:16:31 > 3:16:42please.20 inches to jack high.

3:17:00 > 3:17:04Just caught it but he's opened the door for Wayne to play the forehand

3:17:04 > 3:17:12to trail that jack back.Seven inches short.Players asking about

3:17:12 > 3:17:17jack high, there was a change of rules and while ago, to come up with

3:17:17 > 3:17:20Jack level, but to be messed with you you will never get the time back

3:17:20 > 3:17:26in your life that it took to get that decision. The reality is it is

3:17:26 > 3:17:30always jack high and that is when the ball is level with the jack.

3:17:30 > 3:17:36They probably had to have a meeting somewhere in Hawaii for that one.

3:17:36 > 3:17:46Another change of the rules that was totally unnecessary.

3:17:46 > 3:17:49totally unnecessary. While you were venting your feelings, Dave, Wayne

3:17:49 > 3:17:53has played short when he could have trailed the jack.I would have

3:17:53 > 3:17:59stopped if he had been close.

3:18:05 > 3:18:10Just needs to go through. He's going through the gap. I was going to say

3:18:10 > 3:18:14he needs to pick up the jack at that weight. As long as you keep it

3:18:14 > 3:18:19relevant to the game, that's the important bit, John. A chance for a

3:18:19 > 3:18:25double, peel back the jack for three would bring him back into this set.

3:18:25 > 3:18:33Wayne was good at this last night, Little trails and turns. Just needs

3:18:33 > 3:18:42to hurry for the double. That's great. That's the sort of thing that

3:18:42 > 3:18:48lifts your mood.

3:18:49 > 3:18:51lifts your mood.Yeah, just good enough, gets a nip of the green,

3:18:51 > 3:19:00makes the second shot. It will lift his spirits a little bit. Still very

3:19:00 > 3:19:10much in this, Wayne Willgress. 1-shot and suddenly it's all level,

3:19:10 > 3:19:19tie-break, old to play for. Concentrate on the first two bowls

3:19:19 > 3:19:30and make sure they are at least up to the jack.

3:19:47 > 3:19:52I think that's why he's pushed through.Yeah, he's dropped a few

3:19:52 > 3:19:55short, didn't want to be too short, he's just overplayed that a little

3:19:55 > 3:20:03bit.

3:20:36 > 3:20:48It's a correction made but not too bad. That will be a target for Greg.

3:21:33 > 3:21:40Again, he is a little bit too eager, Wayne, again. This is the problem,

3:21:40 > 3:21:43when trying to draw and you have been short a couple of times he's

3:21:43 > 3:21:49trying to reach now and force it.

3:22:03 > 3:22:09You tell me, John.He didn't play that, he's got the green bowl, he

3:22:09 > 3:22:15was trying to get inside for the second shot, not the worst bowl in

3:22:15 > 3:22:19the world. He's tempted to run this. You can almost see it in his body

3:22:19 > 3:22:28language, he's tempted to run this jack, he's going to have a look.

3:22:28 > 3:22:39REFEREE:Time-out called. Wayne has three time-outs remaining.

3:22:39 > 3:22:42COMMENTATOR: The thing is, John, if he plays it and gets right into the

3:22:42 > 3:22:48jack, then we end up with the two back bowls, that one will come into

3:22:48 > 3:22:54play, I would think, but on the re-spots, which are over here, it's

3:22:54 > 3:23:00not terribly good. The key bowl of the whole lot which could cause

3:23:00 > 3:23:09problems for him is this one.

3:23:13 > 3:23:19After all that he is drawing.Well, he came down to have a look at it

3:23:19 > 3:23:23and decided that he wanted to draw. There you go, he plays an inside

3:23:23 > 3:23:31ball, not really any closer than anything else.

3:23:31 > 3:23:33anything else. Last night he would have gone for that and pleaded with

3:23:33 > 3:23:39confidence.He's a little bit in betwixt what to do at the moment,

3:23:39 > 3:23:43Wayne. He's not playing well and he knows that as well. He's betwixt and

3:23:43 > 3:23:47between and it's a bit of a struggle for him. But hey Ho, you are only

3:23:47 > 3:23:51here once and you have to have a go sometimes and that was an

3:23:51 > 3:24:00opportunity but 3-3. Couldn't see him being any worse off.Wayne

3:24:00 > 3:24:11needing to make the adjustment in weight. It was a bit predictable.

3:24:11 > 3:24:13weight.It was a bit predictable. I understand Wayne's situation. He

3:24:13 > 3:24:18knows he's in a bit of a struggle but he's still in the set, so keep

3:24:18 > 3:24:30their heads down. Things can change very quickly.

3:24:41 > 3:24:52Jack length, 26.5 metres.

3:24:55 > 3:25:01Bit of a cheap two therefore Greg Harlow. Still here asking Don McGahn

3:25:01 > 3:25:08same questions, #BBC bowls, ask away, make them hard for John and

3:25:08 > 3:25:17easy for me, would be much appreciated -- still here answering

3:25:17 > 3:25:21questions. We have got all the roles available to us whenever John

3:25:21 > 3:25:30decides to read them. -- all the rules. But

3:25:31 > 3:25:34rules. But they're here.I'm still learning to read at the moment. You

3:25:34 > 3:25:42have not said a word, not getting drawn into that one! There are so

3:25:42 > 3:25:53many pages of rules for these events now.

3:25:58 > 3:26:07I must admit I find it easier to ask one of the umpires.

3:26:07 > 3:26:14one of the umpires.Nice bowl. You get one behind and put one in like

3:26:14 > 3:26:20that and it puts faith question mark on the opposition, are they prepared

3:26:20 > 3:26:25to change hands and go in there one-handed? Lots of people have been

3:26:25 > 3:26:31staying away from the backhand. Wayne is having a go this end. On a

3:26:31 > 3:26:38decent line and not sure about the weight. He's not far away.It was

3:26:38 > 3:26:55pretty good. That was a good finish. One red.

3:27:01 > 3:27:07Greg Harlow will follow that bowl in. Any movement on the jack is very

3:27:07 > 3:27:16good for Greg. Not reaching with this one but the intention is there,

3:27:16 > 3:27:23so Wayne will know, get them up to the jack. How far is that?Ten inch

3:27:23 > 3:27:31gap.

3:27:48 > 3:27:55That's the idea. Hasn't blocked Greg off but it has added a bit of

3:27:55 > 3:28:04pressure. I think Wayne is just a gear or a two away from having a

3:28:04 > 3:28:11really good game.If he can hang in there in this set and force his way

3:28:11 > 3:28:19into a tie-breaker, the sort of game you might need a win to get over the

3:28:19 > 3:28:23line. How many times do you think, I haven't played well but I can get

3:28:23 > 3:28:27there if I can sneak into the tie-break. That's what is going

3:28:27 > 3:28:32through his mind at the moment, get to the tie-break. There is a shot

3:28:32 > 3:28:39here for Greg on the draw, he turned that jack.He looked at the forehand

3:28:39 > 3:28:46runner, but it's not sitting right. It's not sitting good. He's on the

3:28:46 > 3:28:52backhand. It makes more sense.

3:29:07 > 3:29:12He's very close to drawing the shot with this. Rested on the ball,

3:29:12 > 3:29:18hasn't dropped back, might still be a double, if it's two shots to red.

3:29:18 > 3:29:26Wayne would do well to play the forehand.

3:29:26 > 3:29:30forehand.What Wayne doesn't want to do is be overweight and move the

3:29:30 > 3:29:34jack.Play the forehand, flavour safe hand, no chance of giving the

3:29:34 > 3:29:38shot away on the forehand.

3:29:46 > 3:29:51If you are going to play it play it there. If he plays the backhand and

3:29:51 > 3:29:57touches the jack and gives the shot away, or even give two away and just

3:29:57 > 3:30:02get one.Sensible option to play forehand. As you said, there is no

3:30:02 > 3:30:10real danger of giving that away.

3:30:21 > 3:30:26That is the right idea. Just try and let it drift in on a good line.

3:30:26 > 3:30:30Lovely weight, just didn't make it, but far better to do that than give

3:30:30 > 3:30:39a shot away.

3:30:54 > 3:31:03It's not touching. Greg just saying, can you take that

3:31:03 > 3:31:06bowl out? It wasn't touching the red. That way you can get a good

3:31:06 > 3:31:13look at it when the bowl goes.

3:31:13 > 3:31:18I don't think the other green one is actually touching it either, but

3:31:18 > 3:31:25Mike Davies will sort it out.

3:31:26 > 3:31:31Two shots would level it, three ends to go. It has been a funny old

3:31:31 > 3:31:36second set. It has been a bit scrappy and opportunities have been

3:31:36 > 3:31:42there for both players. It has been typical of this format, overall.

3:31:42 > 3:31:47Greg has been in control, scored double the shots that Wayne has,

3:31:47 > 3:31:53outscored him heavily, and yet Wayne is still very much in this match.

3:31:53 > 3:32:01And even maybe the momentum is with Wayne. That is set play for you,

3:32:01 > 3:32:11never quite sure what is going to happen.5-5 after six ends.Mark

3:32:11 > 3:32:18Dawes is there with Darren Burnett, chatting away. I don't think they

3:32:18 > 3:32:27are actually discussing the match.

3:32:36 > 3:32:44He has put the green... Looking to change the length. Thinking about

3:32:44 > 3:32:54it, trying to get over the line in this set.

3:32:57 > 3:33:04Change of length. Can he find a good first bowl to go with it?

3:33:07 > 3:33:14APPLAUSE A very decent opener there.Be

3:33:14 > 3:33:20surprised if Greg as a go at this. I know he wouldn't, but it is

3:33:20 > 3:33:24tempting, isn't it? Because he is such a good, accurate player when it

3:33:24 > 3:33:31comes to the running bowls. But at 5-5, he won't do that just yet.He

3:33:31 > 3:33:37has a good line here, if he gets to the jack.It is a jack framed for

3:33:37 > 3:33:46both players. One red. Your bowl half an inch short of jack high.

3:34:05 > 3:34:11Didn't want that, Wayne, really. Just under three feet short of jack

3:34:11 > 3:34:13high.

3:34:22 > 3:34:28He's thinking about playing that on the forehand. The way the head is

3:34:28 > 3:34:31sitting. We will have a moment to look at it. Greg is playing,

3:34:31 > 3:34:39bringing the jack towards his bowl. There you go. The forehand shot was

3:34:39 > 3:34:46there for him to play the forehand.

3:34:46 > 3:34:51That's why I thought he should have been playing the forehand.Think you

3:34:51 > 3:34:58will get the drive out now... No, he's going on a draw.Oh, wow!

3:34:58 > 3:35:03Considering he hasn't drawn particular well, this is a big bowl.

3:35:03 > 3:35:07I thought he should have been positive then, he hasn't drawn that

3:35:07 > 3:35:17well.Bad choice for the second bowl. Short third bowl forehand.

3:35:17 > 3:35:22Short, no back position, two against, and T is right in the set.

3:35:22 > 3:35:28He needs to clear his head here. Two bad calls here at the moment. Greg

3:35:28 > 3:35:37is on to the forehand side now. Anything past or even turning the

3:35:37 > 3:35:42jack itself will leave Wayne in real trouble. It is close again here.

3:35:42 > 3:35:49Just wants to rest up to it, front toucher.Going for the jugular. The

3:35:49 > 3:35:53problem for Wayne, and this is what I was getting back to with the last

3:35:53 > 3:35:57two bowls, nothing in terms of back position. He's left himself an

3:35:57 > 3:36:04incredibly difficult shot.Played running weight on this hand, has he?

3:36:04 > 3:36:09On the draw? Never looked like getting down.Never even looked

3:36:09 > 3:36:13close to getting down. He will lose three or four, and at the wrong

3:36:13 > 3:36:20time, in the seventh end in the second set. I think it's just been a

3:36:20 > 3:36:23woeful tactical end. It happens, don't get me wrong, it's a learning

3:36:23 > 3:36:30process as well, John.Well, it's a free draw here for Gregor Olsen

3:36:30 > 3:36:45number four.Time outscored. -- time out called.

3:36:55 > 3:37:03Three lovely bowls by Greg Harlow, no doubt about that. Massive chance

3:37:03 > 3:37:10here for four and it really puts Wayne in a heap of trouble. No

3:37:10 > 3:37:17mistake with this.Ever to the disaster to the end for Wayne

3:37:17 > 3:37:19Willgress.

3:37:24 > 3:37:36Now he needs a three and a two.5-9 after seven ends. Greg has two

3:37:36 > 3:37:39time-outs remaining.

3:37:42 > 3:37:46Well, the way the game has gone, you look at Wayne, you don't think it's

3:37:46 > 3:37:53going to happen...Well it hasn't been too good tactically, has it? It

3:37:53 > 3:37:57has been a learning process, but I think it's as much about he's just

3:37:57 > 3:38:02been off a good game. He's just been dropping too many short bowls. And

3:38:02 > 3:38:08Greg, Greg is normally very steady, consistent, always does the right

3:38:08 > 3:38:12thing. He has had a couple of loose ends but he doesn't give you too

3:38:12 > 3:38:16much and you have to earn anything against Greg Harlow and Wayne just

3:38:16 > 3:38:25hasn't been at it today. Well, if you can scratch a double

3:38:25 > 3:38:33out of this... Then still a chance.

3:38:33 > 3:38:38Last three ends last night he got two fors and 83, but that was last

3:38:38 > 3:38:48night.Lightning does not normally strike twice.Going again with the

3:38:48 > 3:38:52short ball, John. Well... He's been around the game more than long

3:38:52 > 3:39:01enough. He knows it hasn't been his day.Greg will want to steal it. He

3:39:01 > 3:39:06went on to take it to the last end.

3:39:09 > 3:39:13On a better track. Anything close here and Wayne is in trouble.

3:39:13 > 3:39:21APPLAUSE

3:39:38 > 3:39:45A brave effort.Well, that actually helps a little bit because he's

3:39:45 > 3:39:49brought the bowl down to the side of the jack which will give an

3:39:49 > 3:39:58opportunity to squeeze the jack next time.

3:40:08 > 3:40:12Well, he's decided, Greg, that's good enough for me and I'm going to

3:40:12 > 3:40:19cover the positions. He has the back position and the re-spot.Two

3:40:19 > 3:40:27time-outs remaining.Squeeze the jack against the bowl, push it out.

3:40:39 > 3:40:43Time-out called, Wayne has won time-out remaining.You think he has

3:40:43 > 3:40:49to play that to squeeze the jack to the red bowl. The key is this one,

3:40:49 > 3:40:54that's where he needs the jack to be punched out. If he does that gets a

3:40:54 > 3:40:58clean bowl, chance of a double. He has to gamble, doesn't he? He could

3:40:58 > 3:41:11get really lucky that the Dutch at the moment, nothing for second bowl.

3:41:29 > 3:41:33Well, he squeezed the jack but didn't think it would be on the

3:41:33 > 3:41:38forehand.I did say he might get a short bowl into it, don't know how

3:41:38 > 3:41:42that's worked out. He might be holding on. I think it might just

3:41:42 > 3:41:53have made a shot with that.I think he has.

3:41:53 > 3:41:59Well, when you had to squeeze the jack out, a bit of hit and hope on

3:41:59 > 3:42:04the forehand in many ways, but it has worked out for him. If Greg

3:42:04 > 3:42:14misses with this, he has the chance of the double.

3:42:17 > 3:42:30A wide line by Greg. If the weight is good, he can get back.

3:42:31 > 3:42:37is good, he can get back.Still one red, by the looks of it.One red.

3:42:37 > 3:42:43You need another one.He is hanging on by a thread. That is K Harlow

3:42:43 > 3:42:49watching. Hanging on by a thread, Wayne. If he can get a two out of

3:42:49 > 3:42:52this it will be a bonus, because he hasn't played good opening

3:42:52 > 3:43:02deliveries.Well, he's interested. It's a good sign. Has to hurry, it

3:43:02 > 3:43:15must run. Short bowl, one red.Not really drawing well enough, at the

3:43:15 > 3:43:21end of the day.Needs a four. Hasn't really had a sniff of a full house

3:43:21 > 3:43:31in this match.

3:43:35 > 3:43:40Wayne hasn't been able to put back-to-back scores together in this

3:43:40 > 3:43:48match.

3:43:50 > 3:43:54That is the Wayne fan club down there but unfortunately today, there

3:43:54 > 3:44:06hasn't been an awful lot to shout about. His fiancee, Rebecca Field.

3:44:06 > 3:44:1529.5 metres.

3:44:20 > 3:44:30That is one of the four he needs.

3:44:57 > 3:45:01That was Greg making sure he was behind the jack. He didn't want to

3:45:01 > 3:45:11mess about. Oooh... Wayne... It doesn't look too bad to me. He is a

3:45:11 > 3:45:22bit on the Paisley side, but still in the area. That's useful. -- a bit

3:45:22 > 3:45:27on the pacey side. That is two. Great debating here. I would draw

3:45:27 > 3:45:35and try and remove one of those bowls. He could just draw it as well

3:45:35 > 3:45:40but I think it might be looking at the heavy ball. If he runs it and

3:45:40 > 3:45:45plays it they will shake hands. Here he goes. Has he missed it? He has,

3:45:45 > 3:45:52he is under it. I think I would have drawn with that one.I think that's

3:45:52 > 3:45:56a very strange choice for Greg, very out of character.Normally so good

3:45:56 > 3:46:00about working out what to do and just dropped for the next one. You

3:46:00 > 3:46:10are forcing Wayne to make the four. Didn't think he was under a lot of

3:46:10 > 3:46:14pressure, Greg. He could have just drawn down.Certainly the way he's

3:46:14 > 3:46:21been playing. He also knows if he is short, anything within two beat is

3:46:21 > 3:46:32good. Going to get there but... Surely he will draw this time, John.

3:46:32 > 3:46:38It looks a draw. He can draw this either side, Greg. You would expect

3:46:38 > 3:46:51him, with two bowls to go, to get inside at least one of those reds.

3:46:53 > 3:46:57Time-out called. Greg has won time-out remaining.

3:46:57 > 3:47:01I'm amazed he's even looking at this.

3:47:08 > 3:47:18If he makes a inside the short red on, it's all over.

3:47:18 > 3:47:24on, it's all over.That's a draw I think.Payback can draw. Put your

3:47:24 > 3:47:29sensible head back on again, Greg. I understand why he played the

3:47:29 > 3:47:32previous bowl because you take one out and it's all over. But he's been

3:47:32 > 3:47:40playing too well today to let this happen.

3:47:40 > 3:47:47happen. Now, Willie Snead up? He's not.

3:47:47 > 3:47:51not.He has played a nightmare here, for a man of his experience, a

3:47:51 > 3:47:57nightmare end. That last bowl could be the saviour, and just as well as

3:47:57 > 3:48:05well. He's going to need it. I would expect... It's almost like the sort

3:48:05 > 3:48:11of exhibition end for the crowd, isn't it? I will go walk about, let

3:48:11 > 3:48:15the opposition get in with four bowls and then draw on close. You

3:48:15 > 3:48:23don't want to be doing that. Wayne is going to try and make this count.

3:48:23 > 3:48:28Steady, steady, steady... That has run on a bit. It's not bad. It's

3:48:28 > 3:48:39very beatable.Four red.A long way away, the three and four bowls. Greg

3:48:39 > 3:48:52put two feet on his last. I don't think you can believe it.

3:48:53 > 3:48:59Time-out called. He is very edgy, isn't he? You can

3:48:59 > 3:49:04see it on his face, he's very edgy about this. He's dug himself into a

3:49:04 > 3:49:11hole here that he needn't have.

3:49:11 > 3:49:17Still expect him to draw it, just needs to compose himself. He was

3:49:17 > 3:49:31drawing these of an earlier on. -- these for fun earlier on.

3:49:31 > 3:49:39Got it away smoothly, no problems and an the delivery.

3:49:39 > 3:49:50I don't believe it... I don't believe it!There will be questions

3:49:50 > 3:49:54asked. Unbelievable, unbelievable! I can't believe that end, I really

3:49:54 > 3:50:00can't.

3:50:00 > 3:50:05He's imploded, that's all you can say.That's what I was thinking,

3:50:05 > 3:50:14that's exactly what happened. Unbelievable.

3:50:17 > 3:50:22I just cannot believe that happened, I really can't. It is a strange old

3:50:22 > 3:50:34game, it really is. It's why we love it, though. Wayne has been it's fair

3:50:34 > 3:50:38to say, comprehensively outplayed. Exactly. If Greg loses this game, he

3:50:38 > 3:50:42won't sleep for a week after this, I will tell you that. He won't sleep

3:50:42 > 3:50:48for a week. I'd have been going off the nearest bridge!CHUCKLES

3:50:48 > 3:50:56It's just a shocker.Unbelievable.I could have understood it if the

3:50:56 > 3:51:02balls were all in a line and within a foot or so but there were two

3:51:02 > 3:51:10yards really all round the jack, eight yard either way.

3:51:10 > 3:51:13eight yard either way. -- a yard either way. I will have to have a

3:51:13 > 3:51:18look at that together make sure I haven't made a mistake.It is game

3:51:18 > 3:51:23on now, tie-break. And mentally, Wayne has to be really in a good

3:51:23 > 3:51:27position. He's been given a gift here. What a chance for a place in

3:51:27 > 3:51:37the semifinal.

3:51:47 > 3:51:50APPLAUSE

3:52:18 > 3:52:19Quod

3:52:24 > 3:52:33-- four inches past jack high.

3:52:46 > 3:52:53Wants to get past it and clean. He has. Probably two the best bowls

3:52:53 > 3:52:59he's played with those first two deliveries.Two good bowls.Greg

3:52:59 > 3:53:08will hit it, though.

3:53:11 > 3:53:17Greg trying to compose himself, get back into that form he had earlier

3:53:17 > 3:53:22in the match. A better attempt. He's played this one. Where did that come

3:53:22 > 3:53:31from?! I thought he would draw this, I really did. That would be his

3:53:31 > 3:53:41normal gameplay. Now it's a matter of Wayne resting into it. It doesn't

3:53:41 > 3:53:45matter what weight he uses. He's trying... He didn't get that one

3:53:45 > 3:53:53away too well. Normally he is very smooth. He's not too far away, but

3:53:53 > 3:54:02will he get back to the green bowl? Push out? He has. That's enough! He

3:54:02 > 3:54:09bumped it and Wayne doesn't bump bowls.Perfect delivery.This is

3:54:09 > 3:54:15more like it. We haven't had this excitement in the whole match. The

3:54:15 > 3:54:22old fist is in the air now! Greg's running this, he's hitting.Jack in

3:54:22 > 3:54:32deep ditch, that's what he's after. Oooh, goodness me! Well, the jack

3:54:32 > 3:54:36didn't move and that ball's been popped a little bit. I don't think

3:54:36 > 3:54:41there's anything at the back of the head for Greg. That wasn't a good

3:54:41 > 3:54:49result for Greg and not in a great position now.

3:54:49 > 3:54:52position now.I wouldn't leave back, I would take a chance and draw

3:54:52 > 3:54:56another one in. You never leave Greg Harlow the opportunity to pluck a

3:54:56 > 3:55:03bowl out.I wouldn't get to close to it, as long as he beats the side

3:55:03 > 3:55:08grain.He is on the forehand side, coming down. Looking for a wide

3:55:08 > 3:55:13line, get round the green. Will he get back in for a second shot?

3:55:13 > 3:55:18That's the important bit. He needs to get back in. He hasn't. He has

3:55:18 > 3:55:22covered the Rees bought it so if the jack goes out, at least he has that.

3:55:22 > 3:55:26I never like to leave Greg the opportunity to pluck a ball out for

3:55:26 > 3:55:35the end.Greg is going forehand, so he's going to run this and try and

3:55:35 > 3:55:45flick that ball away without flicking the jack. He's interested!

3:55:45 > 3:55:51He's got it... Where has the jack gone?Still on red, I think.Yes,

3:55:51 > 3:55:56because the green ball went across. If he had got it absolutely clean...

3:55:56 > 3:56:03Wayne Willgress.CHEERING AND APPLAUSE

3:56:03 > 3:56:10First time in the match he's in the lead.Rebecca, she can't believe

3:56:10 > 3:56:17this.This is just unbelievable. 10-50 minutes ago he was out of the

3:56:17 > 3:56:21championship and now he's in a great position, on the end away from a

3:56:21 > 3:56:28semifinal.

3:56:28 > 3:56:31This is like a quarterfinal of an FA Cup when you are given three

3:56:31 > 3:56:40penalties in extra time.

3:56:49 > 3:56:57Jack length, 26 metres.

3:57:24 > 3:57:31APPLAUSE

3:57:39 > 3:57:43Well, we will be leaving this match very shortly and moving to the red

3:57:43 > 3:57:49button for the conclusion. We are a minute or so away from that, so get

3:57:49 > 3:57:53yourself ready to go across on the red button to see the conclusion of

3:57:53 > 3:58:02this absolutely fascinating match.

3:58:13 > 3:58:21So, Greg will join in with the second bowl. Wayne is behind it,

3:58:21 > 3:58:25which is good, it's what he wants. You can see the supporters of Wayne

3:58:25 > 3:58:29Willgress still there and still shouting.

3:58:34 > 3:58:40So, in about 20 seconds we will be leaving this match and moving onto

3:58:40 > 3:58:43the red button to see the conclusion. Please join us you seem

3:58:43 > 3:58:48Wayne Willgress... Well, were slightly off target but he got a

3:58:48 > 3:58:52result.
