:00:00. > :00:00.relevant work. The damage to the track is estimated to cost the

:00:00. > :00:00.region 's economy more than ?100 million. Those are the headlines.

:00:00. > :00:14.Now it is time for the Travel Show. It is bigger than Hollywood,

:00:15. > :00:17.churning out hundreds of hits each year. But when it comes to

:00:18. > :00:19.tourists, the Star appeal of Bollywood fails to match. On this

:00:20. > :00:52.week 's programme we find out why. This week, home to spectacular dance

:00:53. > :00:55.routines and dramatic storylines. Can Bollywood reinvent itself as an

:00:56. > :01:03.all singing, all dancing tourist destination? Were on the hunt for

:01:04. > :01:09.good luck and a bit of in Bolivia. I go off the beaten track in Thailand.

:01:10. > :01:15.Plus we take you on the ultimate Easter egg hunt.

:01:16. > :01:27.Welcome to the Travel Show. Were coming to you from Thailand. Later

:01:28. > :01:30.in the programme over leaving the beach and to train the beach and to

:01:31. > :01:35.train their hand at some high adrenaline of ridding here. First,

:01:36. > :01:38.forget Hollywood. If you want to visit the world 's real movie

:01:39. > :01:48.powerhouse then Bollywood reigns supreme. Our reporter has been to

:01:49. > :01:54.Mumbai to see how the city hopes to turn one of its biggest industries

:01:55. > :02:00.into a top tourist attraction. Mumbai is India's largest and

:02:01. > :02:02.richest city, an intense, fast paced metropolis known for its high

:02:03. > :02:15.finance as well as its widespread poverty. But it is probably most

:02:16. > :02:17.famous for this. Bollywood. Its big dance numbers and glitzy costumes

:02:18. > :02:25.are known and loved everywhere. Named after a combination of

:02:26. > :02:32.Hollywood and the former city's name, Bombay, it produces up to 1000

:02:33. > :02:37.films per year. That is twice as many as the USA. Bollywood is one of

:02:38. > :02:41.India's biggest cultural exports and many of the most popular Bollywood

:02:42. > :02:52.films have been shot here at film city. This is not just the biggest

:02:53. > :02:58.film lot, it could also become one of the city 's biggest tourist

:02:59. > :03:03.attractions, if all goes to plan. The film city covers over 500 acres

:03:04. > :03:08.in the northern suburbs of Mumbai. It has a range of open spaces were

:03:09. > :03:13.huge outdoor sets are built. Today, 52 separate sheets are under way,

:03:14. > :03:23.most of which are not from movies but television programmes. This set

:03:24. > :03:28.is for a popular comedy series. This month the state`run tourism

:03:29. > :03:34.Organisation will be opening the site to organise day tours. This man

:03:35. > :03:41.is a local tour operator and he shows me around. Let's see what

:03:42. > :03:46.happens behind this secret curtain? We have realised that figured out

:03:47. > :03:52.that there is a large potential here and people, both domestically and

:03:53. > :04:01.overseas, are very keen to understand how Bollywood works. Let

:04:02. > :04:10.me introduce you to one of the most popular characters in India he could

:04:11. > :04:16.walk along the way and they would be a mob of people. Central to the new

:04:17. > :04:18.plans is the proposal for a very swish new Bollywood Museum,

:04:19. > :04:27.currently under consideration by state authorities. It will feature a

:04:28. > :04:30.redcarpet entrance and interactive exhibitions. If August to plan,

:04:31. > :04:39.construction could begin as early as this year. `` all goes to plan.

:04:40. > :04:48.Travelling through the streets of Mumbai it is clear that there is a

:04:49. > :04:52.huge interest in Bollywood here. International hopefuls with Stars In

:04:53. > :05:00.Their Eyes come to learn dance moves and hope for a Bollywood role. From

:05:01. > :05:04.cities and villages across India, people arrive in Bombay, known as

:05:05. > :05:11.the city of dreams, to capture glints of their favourite stars.

:05:12. > :05:15.This compound belongs to actor Sharrock Khan who has appeared in

:05:16. > :05:22.over 50 Bollywood productions and is known as King Khan to his fans.

:05:23. > :05:27.There is a sign of him today so it is lucky that these guys are not too

:05:28. > :05:30.fussy apparently. But the question is could Mumbai become a popular

:05:31. > :05:39.film tourism destination like Hollywood? Mumbai is featured in all

:05:40. > :05:45.of our films but it does not mean that the Mumbai Cena films is not

:05:46. > :05:51.close to the one. If it is close to reality, it is not a norm by you

:05:52. > :05:54.want to go to. Films that have these narrow lanes were gangsters are

:05:55. > :05:56.shooting at you and somebody is pickpocketing you and there is

:05:57. > :06:00.massive violence happening around the corner, I can't see anybody

:06:01. > :06:06.saying that they want to spend their holiday there. How Bombay is first

:06:07. > :06:12.become a true centre on the basis of its cinematic depictions, I don't

:06:13. > :06:17.know? The new tourism push comes at a time where Bollywood is itself

:06:18. > :06:23.undergoing a radical shift. This is a suburb in the north of Mumbai and

:06:24. > :06:27.it does not look like much, there is a big fancy studious, but this is

:06:28. > :06:31.the centre of what is being known as New Bollywood, where all of the

:06:32. > :06:38.independent film makers are based. Tourists hardly ever come here. In

:06:39. > :06:41.recent years, these independents have been moving far from

:06:42. > :06:47.traditional Bollywood seems and they are changing the face of Indian

:06:48. > :06:53.cinema. New Bollywood is appealing to the new India, audiences of India

:06:54. > :06:58.among the youth. It is newer content which is more western and its format

:06:59. > :07:05.and Outlook. Shorter films, less on and dance, maybe more adult, and

:07:06. > :07:10.trying to get to the 16 to 35 age group. This latest project would use

:07:11. > :07:16.a poll on social media to decide the climax of the film. What has been

:07:17. > :07:21.the reaction of the old guard? Better not like what I do and they

:07:22. > :07:27.do not like me. But the story should be told the same and actors. We love

:07:28. > :07:38.our film stars and we love our son and dance. But I think change,

:07:39. > :07:43.evolution, is inevitable. The filmmaking landscape in Mumbai is

:07:44. > :07:47.clearly undergoing a shift. Just at the time that authorities would like

:07:48. > :07:51.to have tourists celebrating traditional ideas of Bollywood. Can

:07:52. > :08:00.Mumbai become a new Hollywood for visitors? They say that anything is

:08:01. > :08:03.possible in the city of dreams. If you're planning to head there,

:08:04. > :08:08.here are some things you need to think about before you go. K point,

:08:09. > :08:14.Mumbai is a busy city and can be overwhelming at first. Allow

:08:15. > :08:21.yourself some time to acclimatise before packing in the sightseeing.

:08:22. > :08:25.Tipped to, bottled water is a must. High humidity and waterborne viruses

:08:35. > :08:38.easier. D3, escape the city. India's vast and beautiful country. Beaches

:20:55. > :21:02.credentials before you sign up. You need to see the operator and make

:21:03. > :21:10.sure they are licensed. See their TSB licence. First you see the

:21:20. > :21:25.where operators do not adhere to the safety regulations? Sometimes, yes.

:21:26. > :21:32.Safety is number one. People come to have fun. They want safety also. If
