:00:11. > :00:15.Welcome to BBC Channel Islands. A headlines: United in grief. Jersey

:00:15. > :00:24.comes together to remember those killed in this week's stabbings as

:00:24. > :00:30.Of those who died. Also today, going for gold, Sark's Park estate

:00:30. > :00:40.trots ever closer to the Olympics. And Gone With The Wind, Mike

:00:40. > :00:46.

:00:46. > :00:49.discovers quite literally why Good evening. Jersey police have

:00:50. > :00:54.formally named four of the people who died in St Helier on Sunday.

:00:54. > :01:00.They have been confirmed as 30 year-old Izabela Rzeszowska, her

:01:00. > :01:05.two children, Kinga, five, and two- year-old Kacper. Her father, 56

:01:05. > :01:07.year-old Marek Garstka also died. The announcement comes less than 24

:01:07. > :01:12.hours after the islanders join together for a requiem mass in the

:01:12. > :01:16.capital. They came to remember, to pray and

:01:16. > :01:22.to greed. This was not an ordinary church service at St Thomas's

:01:22. > :01:28.Church. It was a service to help an island that is still deep in shock.

:01:28. > :01:34.People may not come on Sunday, but in moments of grief and distress,

:01:34. > :01:37.they are coming to seek comfort in their faith. The police are still

:01:37. > :01:46.investigating how Izabela Rzeszowska, her father and her

:01:46. > :01:51.children died. The area where the incident is alleged to have

:01:51. > :01:55.happened is still sealed off. A 30- year-old Polish man, named locally

:01:55. > :01:59.as Damian Rzeszowska, is under arrest in hospital in connection

:01:59. > :02:04.with the incident. He continues to recover from his injuries, but he

:02:04. > :02:09.is not yet fit to be released and we are working with the hospital in

:02:09. > :02:15.order to determine when he will be fit for detention and interview.

:02:15. > :02:18.But last night, to the sound of a mass led half in English and half

:02:18. > :02:23.in Polish, different island communities join together to help

:02:23. > :02:27.each other get through the events of the past few days. The community

:02:27. > :02:33.is rallying together and we want to show our support for the family and

:02:33. > :02:36.friends. We like to show that we feel for them as well. I hope

:02:36. > :02:41.people will find peace from the difficult set of circumstances that

:02:41. > :02:45.have developed since Sunday. There is still a sense of shock and

:02:45. > :02:50.disbelief in the island and for many this service is the first step

:02:50. > :02:54.to help the wounded community heal. Guernsey's colleges could lose over

:02:54. > :02:59.1 million from their budgets. In Ireland's policy council is

:02:59. > :03:03.proposing to reduce the grant they give to Ladies' College, Elizabeth

:03:04. > :03:08.College and Blanche land. It will be debated by the States next month.

:03:08. > :03:13.Overall, we are aiming to reach a position where in seven years' time

:03:13. > :03:18.the colleges as a whole will be receiving something like 1.1

:03:18. > :03:24.million less than they do now. That is out of a total grant of just

:03:24. > :03:27.under 5 million. Sark dressage rider Carl Hester has

:03:27. > :03:32.won gold at the European Championships. It is an important

:03:32. > :03:37.victory for him as he prepares for the Olympics. The teams scored a

:03:37. > :03:42.record number of points and Carl led the way with a personal best.

:03:42. > :03:46.They gold medal-winning performance. Carl Hester and Utopia impressed

:03:46. > :03:51.judges with an astonishingly sublime display. He was the shining

:03:51. > :03:57.star of the British dressage team. I was so desperate to do a mistake

:03:57. > :04:03.free test. That is where you have to start achieving the points. He

:04:03. > :04:10.is such a flamboyant tours and he can do a great test. I am delighted.

:04:10. > :04:16.It was his best ever performance, receiving a score of nearly 83%.

:04:16. > :04:21.That helped Team GB take the gold with a record-breaking score. The

:04:21. > :04:25.devotion and passion in training has paid off. I had about two-and-

:04:25. > :04:28.a-half hours' sleep, but the adrenalin kicked in. We are a

:04:28. > :04:35.partnership and have been together for six years and I feel

:04:35. > :04:40.comfortable with him. Carl will be united with Utopia once again for

:04:40. > :04:44.the British nationals next month, but the main goal is London 2012,

:04:44. > :04:51.where a repeat performance will put him in with a great chance of

:04:51. > :04:56.Olympic gold. And more good news for another

:04:56. > :05:00.Olympic hopeful. Elizabeth Caan has moved into an Olympic qualification

:05:00. > :05:05.ranking after her performance at last week's world badminton

:05:05. > :05:11.championships. The final selection will take place next spring.

:05:11. > :05:14.Good luck to her and Spain with the Olympics, Beckie Herbert will

:05:14. > :05:19.compete for invent at the European Hockey Championships tomorrow. It

:05:19. > :05:26.is the last tournament before she builds up for the Olympics. We went

:05:26. > :05:30.to watch her train in Marlow. All hopes are hooked on nailing her

:05:30. > :05:34.performance at the Euro hockey championships, especially where

:05:34. > :05:40.expectations are this five. Going to the Olympics is a huge

:05:41. > :05:45.achievement, but we want to be on the podium and winning medals.

:05:45. > :05:50.is that a realistic target? Beckie has powered into the England squad

:05:50. > :05:54.for the competition tomorrow. It is her last game played for England

:05:54. > :05:59.before Team GB take their focus towards the Olympics. But Becchio

:05:59. > :06:04.still needs to pick up key skills. How I carry the ball and take

:06:04. > :06:09.people on, connecting with the players around me and some set

:06:09. > :06:12.piece stuff. Past injuries have led to major disappointments which

:06:13. > :06:17.meant she missed out on the World Cup, Champions Trophy and

:06:18. > :06:20.Commonwealth Games, but that is not distracting her. It would be

:06:20. > :06:25.massive to be playing in London. I cannot describe the feeling it

:06:25. > :06:30.would give you to be walking out in that opening ceremony in a year's

:06:30. > :06:35.time. I have had the heartbreak of missing the Olympics in the past,

:06:35. > :06:45.so that makes it even bigger for me. Every athlete dreams of going to

:06:45. > :06:45.

:06:45. > :06:53.the Olympics. Tomorrow all focus is on the European Championships.

:06:53. > :06:58.Thank you for being with us. Later on: Up, up and away, we take to the

:06:58. > :07:02.air with one of the region's search and rescue helicopter crews.

:07:02. > :07:06.It is Friday and it is that time of the week you have all been waiting

:07:06. > :07:11.for it when we tell you about something you can do for free, or

:07:11. > :07:18.that costs very little. Today might as been to a Guernsey charity that

:07:18. > :07:28.enables children and adults to have a go at windsurfing. MUSIC: Born

:07:28. > :07:34.

:07:34. > :07:40.This is a windsurfing board, but it is part of a simulator and a short

:07:40. > :07:44.while I will be going out to have Aguero at windsurfing. It is nice

:07:44. > :07:50.and sunny and it should be pretty good conditions. Richard is my

:07:50. > :07:54.instructor. His is an expensive sport? Yes, it is fairly expensive,

:07:54. > :08:00.the equipment is expensive. But we have all the equipment down here.

:08:00. > :08:05.We have a club for children on a Friday morning and they can come

:08:05. > :08:15.down and used it for 5. We provide tuition courses for adults as well.

:08:15. > :08:15.

:08:15. > :09:15.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 60 seconds

:09:16. > :09:20.What kind of kit do I need? A wet I am speechless. He was last seen

:09:20. > :09:24.approaching Dover Castle. Send him back to us. If you fancy taking

:09:24. > :09:34.your children to one of the windsurfing sessions they cost 5

:09:34. > :09:35.

:09:35. > :09:40.for half a day on Friday mornings. The weather is not looking too bad

:09:40. > :09:45.this weekend. It will feel much warm as well. We have high pressure

:09:45. > :09:51.with us for the moment. The high pressure keeps these fronts at bay

:09:51. > :09:57.for tomorrow. By the time we get to Sunday, this cold front moved

:09:57. > :10:02.closer, but it is fairly weak. Perhaps a more cloud around that

:10:02. > :10:08.may bring us some fairly heavy downpours for Monday. It should be

:10:08. > :10:15.dry for tonight. Fairly cloudy at times. A few clear spells overnight

:10:15. > :10:20.tonight. Quite mild. Generally light winds. A little bit of cloud

:10:20. > :10:25.to start the day, but it should soon disappeared and we will have

:10:25. > :10:32.good amounts of sunshine throughout the day. It will feel warm in the

:10:32. > :10:42.sunshine as well. Out at sea the forecast is for a variable wind. It

:10:42. > :10:56.

:10:56. > :11:01.is pretty light as well. Good It is pretty flat but tomorrow. The

:11:01. > :11:04.outlook, across the weekend it is generally fine and dry. Perhaps

:11:04. > :11:07.more cloud towards the end of Sunday and on Monday we could see

:11:07. > :11:12.some torrential downpours in the form of showers and some thunder

:11:12. > :11:17.mixed in with those showers. By the time we get to Tuesday there will

:11:17. > :11:27.still be some showers. But there will also be some sunnier weather.

:11:27. > :11:31.

:11:31. > :11:36.Not quite as warm as we get to Tuesday. This is the summary. On

:11:36. > :11:42.the beach tomorrow I think. On BBC Radio Jersey Ryan Morrison will
