:05:14. > :05:19.have to get somebody in it to get the shop measured and have plans
:05:19. > :05:23.drawn, that will cost a lot of money. For us, it is not worth it.
:05:23. > :05:26.Shops must be under 700 square metres to open on a Sunday - so no
:05:26. > :05:29.bigger than a football pitch. It means stores like these have to
:05:29. > :05:38.stay shut allowing smaller ones to corner the market. But few have
:05:38. > :05:41.taken advantage. It seems tough that those businesses who have
:05:42. > :05:46.traditionally opened on a Sunday anyway are being asked to employ
:05:46. > :05:50.the services of a so there to provide plans to prove they are
:05:50. > :05:53.within 700 square metres. In actual fact it is quite easy to see that.
:05:53. > :05:56.And those concerns are felt by shopkeepers like Ian. He thinks the
:05:56. > :06:06.new rules need to be simplified to encourage more small businesses to

:06:07. > :06:11.make the most of an extra day's trading. It is working. It is an
:06:11. > :06:18.improvement, we will not see a great increase in a Sunday trading
:06:18. > :06:20.but there are improvements around red tape. With retail sales down 5%
:06:20. > :06:24.last year, traders can't afford to lose out on potential weekend
:06:24. > :06:30.customers. But six months after a new law was supposed to help them
:06:30. > :06:33.do so, many say it's harder than ever.
:06:33. > :06:36.A major study into levels of radon throughout the Channel islands has
:06:36. > :06:39.begun. Home-testing kits have been issued to a random sample of
:06:39. > :06:48.households. The naturally emitted radioactive gas is usually found in
:06:48. > :06:52.areas that contain granite and can be harmful. Radon is implicated in
:06:52. > :06:57.cancer but we have to remember it's been with us than millions of years
:06:57. > :07:02.and accumulates in some houses, every house is different. What we
:07:02. > :07:10.want is the evidence to tell businesses and households whether
:07:10. > :07:15.they need to do tests will not. major movie that'd put Guernsey

:07:20. > :07:23.Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society" have confirmed they
:07:23. > :07:26.plan to shoot some of it in Guernsey. Although how long they
:07:26. > :07:28.spend there depends on how much financial help the States is
:07:28. > :07:31.willing to offer. Penny Elderfield has this report.

:07:41. > :07:44.blockbuster. And having visited Guernsey to see what it offers -

:07:50. > :07:53.the majority of the picture in London but we wanted to do ideally
:07:53. > :08:01.five weeks on Guernsey which would be three weeks and then back to
:08:01. > :08:04.London. We want the beautiful flowers and the need may look.
:08:04. > :08:09.before the film crews can set up on location the finances need to be
:08:09. > :08:17.sorted out. Including what Guernsey States can offer. We have committed
:08:17. > :08:21.to shooting on Guernsey. We will be there. How long depends upon how
:08:21. > :08:24.much help we can get from Guernsey. But there's a limit to what the
:08:24. > :08:27.States can give. And Commerce and Employment says it won't be
:08:27. > :08:30.offering direct funding. But it will negotiate to try and bring
:08:30. > :08:33.down the costs of things like transport and hotels. Ultimately
:08:33. > :08:36.though if it's the scenery of the Island the producers love it'll
:08:36. > :08:45.come down to how much they want and need Guernsey. Weighed up against
:08:45. > :08:48.how much Guernsey needs the film. And staying with film - you don't
:08:48. > :08:58.normally see adverts on the BBC, but in this case, we'll make an
:08:58. > :08:59.
:08:59. > :09:02.exception. We would have to find the money from somewhere else or
:09:02. > :09:07.cut public services more. In a sense, it is more independent than
:09:07. > :09:10.we are. This is a cinema ad, from 1950, promoting Jersey as a holiday
