:00:56. > :01:03.this month. But politician Deputy Mike Higgins has hit out at the
:01:03. > :01:06.scheme, saying it needs to be more transparent.
:01:06. > :01:10.Time is running out for victims of historic abuse in Jersey to claim
:01:10. > :01:14.compensation. But the deadline, set by the Council of Ministers, is too
:01:15. > :01:19.soon, according to one backbencher. Deputy Mike Higgins wants the
:01:19. > :01:24.scheme extended past the end of September. He also says the levels
:01:24. > :01:27.of compensation need to be more transparent. I believe it is
:01:27. > :01:31.important this is actually in the public arena, there have been too
:01:31. > :01:40.many deals done behind the scenes in the past and not always for the
:01:40. > :01:42.benefit of islanders. The Chief Minister says he is willing to
:01:42. > :01:44.discuss the scheme with Deputy Higgins but believes the
:01:45. > :01:47.compensation levels are already fair. These are very difficult and
:01:47. > :01:50.legal areas where you need to take appropriate legal advice, lawyers
:01:50. > :01:52.talk to lawyers representing the claimants as well so it's very
:01:53. > :02:02.difficult to do that in a parliamentary setting and elsewhere
:02:03. > :02:06.
:02:06. > :02:09.in the world it would be an executive decision. A fair scheme,
:02:09. > :02:12.according to the Care Leavers Association, set up to help victims
:02:12. > :02:16.of historic abuse, is to extend the deadline. To extend the time limit
:02:16. > :02:20.is a good thing because people are still coming forward and a lot of
:02:20. > :02:23.people are a little unsure as to whether to go ahead or not. That
:02:23. > :02:26.chance to choose is expiring quickly. If Deputy Higgins's
:02:26. > :02:36.proposition fails to be adopted, victims have just weeks left to
:02:36. > :02:37.
:02:37. > :02:40.make a decision which could last a lifetime.

:04:01. > :04:06.made to get it here, you have to ask why we need it. This is part of
:04:06. > :04:09.a programme of replacing our older plants. Her oldest engine is 35
:04:09. > :04:14.years old and this is part of what people pay their electricity bill
:04:14. > :04:17.for. Part is for the energy we import and part is for investing in
:04:17. > :04:20.infrastructure. Whilst seeing the new technology is a crowd pleaser,
:04:20. > :04:27.increasing bills to pay for it are not. Guernsey Electricity is
:04:27. > :04:30.looking at ways round that. One of the things we're looking for is how
:04:30. > :04:33.we can do it to become more affordable for the customers.

:04:36. > :04:42.install it, and help secure the island's power supply for decades
:04:42. > :04:46.to come. The design of Jersey's new buses
:04:46. > :04:49.have been unveiled. They will have parish names on them in Jerriais

:05:46. > :05:50.soon equalised. As the minutes passed, tension built, resulting in
:05:50. > :05:59.a telling off from the referee. Then just before half-time, Cornish
:05:59. > :06:02.Pirate Matt Evans scored this try. In the second half, confidence was
:06:02. > :06:05.still high as Jersey were only five points behind. Michael Le Bourgeois
:06:05. > :06:12.soon closed the gap with his penalty kick but it was short lived.
:06:12. > :06:17.A great sprint from Evans secured a second try for the Pirates. Control

:09:04. > :09:09.be playing in Jersey again and the crowd seemed to love it. But many
:09:09. > :09:12.were here to see this man, former Oasis frontman Noel Gallagher. He
:09:12. > :09:20.closed one of the festival's biggest lineups to date. That also
:09:20. > :09:25.included last year's Guernsey Festival headliners Primal Scream.

:09:31. > :09:34.these events so it has been a great experience. Jersey Live is one of
:09:34. > :09:36.the highlights of the island's summer calendar, but as the sun
