:00:12. > :00:15.Good evening. Coming up: The agonising wait, 16 months in limbo

:00:15. > :00:18.for islanders needing life changing operations.

:00:18. > :00:28.Plas y eight more young people are worried about the roof over their

:00:28. > :00:31.

:00:32. > :00:36.heads. It is an eye-opener. People are not living in the family home.

:00:36. > :00:46.And the birds are threatened with extinction, making its home in the

:00:46. > :00:51.

:00:51. > :00:55.Ireland is in Jersey could have to wait up to 16 months for serious

:00:55. > :01:00.operations such as hip and knee replacements. Today, half the

:01:00. > :01:05.executives were outlining their budget. It could take up to eight

:01:05. > :01:08.months to see a consultant and the same time again until an operation.

:01:08. > :01:13.National Health Service hospitals are not alone in their battle to

:01:13. > :01:19.reduce waiting times. Figures revealed a today show islanders

:01:19. > :01:23.could wait up to eight months for an orthopaedic operation. That is

:01:23. > :01:27.after a similar timescale to see a consultant. Jersey's Assistant

:01:27. > :01:33.Health Minister admitted it wasn't good enough. If I will be downbeat

:01:33. > :01:40.about it, a book take us 10 years to get to the point where we are

:01:40. > :01:44.having services are on demand. There's always a wait for a

:01:45. > :01:49.pinnacle time but we must get that down to a reasonable time. They

:01:49. > :01:53.intend to increase services in the community to release pressure on

:01:53. > :01:58.hospital beds. They want to continue to develop services within

:01:58. > :02:02.the hospital and build a new hospital either on the existing

:02:02. > :02:06.site or a new location. It is a strategy they are confident will

:02:06. > :02:12.work. We have been doing a lot of hard work in the last 18 months to

:02:12. > :02:16.understand what the different challenges are, working with our

:02:16. > :02:22.doctors and nurses to understand what we need to do and in what

:02:22. > :02:26.order to continue providing good quality services. Not everyone is

:02:26. > :02:31.convinced. I am concerned. It is something that has been on my mind

:02:31. > :02:36.for a while. This morning's hearing gave me an opportunity to explore

:02:36. > :02:43.questions around that issue. Nothing I was told today has come

:02:43. > :02:47.fitted me to believe that but anything happen in the near future.

:02:47. > :02:52.Fending any improvements incurs a cost.

:02:52. > :02:58.Today the health department admitted the private money had

:02:58. > :03:02.increased. What percentage of private operations are prioritised

:03:02. > :03:08.over public Patients and what impact will that have on hospital

:03:08. > :03:13.waiting lists? It is hoped Guernsey's electricity

:03:13. > :03:17.cable link will be restored within the next few weeks. This for

:03:17. > :03:20.dissection of cable has been fixed. Last month another problem surfaced

:03:20. > :03:26.at a sub-station. Elect Christie has been generated

:03:26. > :03:33.here in the island while experts look at how -- look at what went on.

:03:33. > :03:37.-- electricians have been looking at how it is generated here. More

:03:37. > :03:43.and more young people are worried about housing. The Youth Enquiry

:03:43. > :03:52.Service which provides advice for 14 to 25 year has reported a surge

:03:52. > :03:56.in requests for help. -- Old s mac. A place where adults

:03:56. > :04:01.can share their problems. For some, the service is the only place.

:04:01. > :04:05.These people want to stay anonymous but told me without the help from

:04:05. > :04:11.the service, their lives would be different. They have helped me find

:04:11. > :04:15.a place to live. They have helped me with the a few different issues

:04:15. > :04:20.with different people. They have helped me with my confidence as

:04:20. > :04:27.well. Through certain things I have done with them, I have got a clear

:04:27. > :04:29.idea of what I want to do work choirs. She is not alone. The Youth

:04:30. > :04:34.Enquiry Service has seen an increase in the amount of young

:04:34. > :04:40.people registering with them. Since September last year, the service

:04:40. > :04:44.has had nearly 1800 visits by young people. They have referred 103 to

:04:44. > :04:48.counselling. Sometimes the issues for young people are very basic.

:04:48. > :04:54.The housing issue is a big one for us. We have a lot of young people

:04:54. > :04:59.who can't live at home or won't live at home. That has been an eye-

:04:59. > :05:03.opener for us, seeing being people their stay on sofas, that stay with

:05:03. > :05:13.friends and ONS living in the family home. This teenager was one

:05:13. > :05:14.

:05:14. > :05:20.of those people until the surface helps her. -- service helped have.

:05:20. > :05:25.I didn't know what to do. I moved round every week. I had nowhere to

:05:25. > :05:30.go. I came in here and it has changed my life. If I wasn't here,

:05:30. > :05:39.I would be still in the same position. As more people register,

:05:39. > :05:43.space ONS -- spaces at the hostas - - hostels and shelters are reducing.

:05:43. > :05:49.There are places they can go to if they are supported financially to

:05:49. > :05:56.do that. There is a bit of a gap in that service and we need more of it

:05:56. > :06:00.for's stop with a shortage of pouncing, and a downturn in the

:06:00. > :06:07.economy, it is a challenging time for a young people.

:06:07. > :06:11.They are expecting an increase in their demand for their services.

:06:11. > :06:16.A hundred and 50 new jobs could be created over the coming months in

:06:16. > :06:21.Jersey if 3 Newtown restaurants are licence. St Helier Parish Assembly

:06:21. > :06:25.has supported application for premises in the Chicago Rock

:06:25. > :06:28.premises and the old Victoria Club. Final approval could be granted was

:06:28. > :06:31.the end of the month. Both the Channel Islands has a new

:06:31. > :06:36.man overseeing them following the British Prime Minister's cabinet

:06:36. > :06:40.reshuffle. Chris Grayling is replacing Ken Clarke as Justice

:06:40. > :06:47.Secretary. He is regarded as being politically to the right of Ken

:06:47. > :06:52.Clarke on these issues. A man has been taken to the

:06:52. > :06:56.Princess Elizabeth hospital after falling from a rooftop to stop all

:06:56. > :07:04.three emergency services were called out. It is believed the man

:07:04. > :07:09.fell 10 feet and his condition isn't life threatening.

:07:09. > :07:17.Later, our viewers cameras catch up with the former Royal Marine on a

:07:17. > :07:21.round Britain cycle challenge. Good luck to him.

:07:21. > :07:25.Rock stars are -- have probably seen some outrageous things but

:07:25. > :07:33.Imogen Noel Gallagher's surprise when this jumped out of his guitar

:07:33. > :07:37.case. This green Fang and Spider identified as a tunnel Web species

:07:37. > :07:42.caused the area to be quarantined. Experts say it is not a richly

:07:42. > :07:47.native but can be found in Jersey and can have a rather nasty bite.

:07:47. > :07:53.If it would buy it a kid on the arm, it probably would get through and

:07:53. > :07:59.then you had -- and it would probably head for an hour. It is

:07:59. > :08:04.similar to a bee sting. It depends on how sensitive people are. Some

:08:04. > :08:13.people hardly react at all. Some get a nasty bump and some bread to

:08:13. > :08:18.ness. It is not dangerous. -- red colour.

:08:18. > :08:28.A rare bird could soon be back on our coastlines. They are currently

:08:28. > :08:35.

:08:35. > :08:44.They died out around the end of the 19th century the rather Channel

:08:44. > :08:47.Islands. We don't know why. It wasn't particularly documented.

:08:47. > :08:54.Nobody recorded what happened to them and where they disappeared.

:08:54. > :08:58.The plaque -- plan is to release 30 or 40 birds. Before we can do that,

:08:58. > :09:04.we need to have a better understanding of what the birds

:09:04. > :09:14.require. We can guess. These birds are going to be released at some

:09:14. > :09:20.point soon and they are going to have radio transmitters on them.

:09:20. > :09:23.They will go where they want to go. It is a trial. Their job is to tell

:09:23. > :09:30.us what they want in life. They don't breed until they are three

:09:30. > :09:34.years old. It will be a couple of years before they start breeding.

:09:34. > :09:44.Then within five or six years, we are not bothering to feed them any

:09:44. > :09:48.

:09:48. > :09:53.more. They will be a wild bird in We do have some good weather to

:09:53. > :09:58.come during the week ahead. A little bit of drizzle to get out of

:09:58. > :10:02.the way tonight. There has been a week weather front bringing its way

:10:02. > :10:07.down. And over cast start to the day tomorrow. It continues to make

:10:07. > :10:14.its way southwards. Improving throughout the day. Once that

:10:14. > :10:21.clears the way, we have high pressure for the rest of the week.

:10:21. > :10:27.For tonight, it does look like it is going to cloud over overnight.

:10:27. > :10:34.There could be a few spots of light rain. With the cloud, a fairly mild

:10:34. > :10:40.night. Temperatures around 14 Celsius. It is an over cast start

:10:40. > :10:45.to the day. Throughout the morning, it does improve. By the time we get

:10:45. > :10:50.to the end of the day, there is plenty of sunshine around. A bit of

:10:50. > :11:00.a breeze to start with. It should feel pleasant enough with highs of

:11:00. > :11:27.

:11:27. > :11:37.A cloudy start to tomorrow but sunshine by the end of the day.

:11:37. > :11:39.

:11:39. > :11:43.That sets us up for plenty of sunshine to come. A cooler feel for
