:00:07. > :00:58.An investigation is under way into why an aeroplane searching for two
:00:59. > :01:04.missing fishermen crash landed in Jersey last night. Nobody on board
:01:05. > :01:07.the aircraft was injured. The emergency call came in at about 615
:01:08. > :01:12.yesterday evening. Shortly afterwards, the air search aircraft
:01:13. > :01:24.joined the investigation and then at 7:15, name telemarketing `` Lion's
:01:25. > :01:27.Pride ditched. The Lee`on`Solent coastguard helicopter rescued the
:01:28. > :01:31.two men from the Ecrehous. Operations were stood down just
:01:32. > :01:35.before midnight. Tonight one of those fishermen remains in
:01:36. > :01:39.hospital. The first daytime pictures of the
:01:40. > :01:42.Lion's Pride where it came to rest. This islander aircraft is more used
:01:43. > :01:46.to rescuing people around the Channel Islands but last night
:01:47. > :01:51.became caught up in an emergency of its own. The nose of the Lion's
:01:52. > :01:54.Pride rests in a tree today where the aircraft came to a standstill
:01:55. > :01:58.last night. You can see the left`hand wheel has buckled upon
:01:59. > :02:04.impact and the left side of the wing is resting on the ground. The pilot
:02:05. > :02:09.yesterday evening, for him to bring the aircraft in having realised
:02:10. > :02:15.there was an engine fault, to bring the aeroplane in and landed on to
:02:16. > :02:20.rain which would make you nervous in daylight, at night time without any
:02:21. > :02:26.lights and to bring it to a halt was nothing other than miraculous.
:02:27. > :02:29.Martin Viney was on a five who set off for the Ecrehous yesterday
:02:30. > :02:35.afternoon. The aim was to spend today fishing off the reef. After
:02:36. > :02:38.three of them had dropped off safely on the reef, his brother Stephen and
:02:39. > :02:42.friend Jason Bonhomme went to more their boat. The dinghy they would
:02:43. > :02:47.then use to get back to their hut on the islands then lost engine power.
:02:48. > :02:51.Two very experienced guys are lots of training which stood them in
:02:52. > :02:55.great stead and we said to them keep the light flashing to the
:02:56. > :02:58.shore. We were standing there and when the lights went out we
:02:59. > :03:03.collectively made a decision that we would then phoned the coastguard
:03:04. > :03:09.emergency services. Which is what we did. What did it feel like at that
:03:10. > :03:13.point? Absolutely horrendous. As the evening went on, you were in one of
:03:14. > :03:18.the huts and you heard something outside. One of the lads, Mark, he
:03:19. > :03:26.was just lying there and I have heard a shout. And I said, "Mark,
:03:27. > :03:31.somebody shouting". That is when we got up and went downstairs and my
:03:32. > :03:40.brother appeared at the door and this was 11:15, absolutely
:03:41. > :03:42.incredible. Back at St Mary, the Lion's Pride remains at rest and
:03:43. > :03:49.will do so for a while. Investigators will start work
:03:50. > :03:56.shortly to find out why this plane ended up making an emergency landing
:03:57. > :03:59.in a Jersey field. Next tonight, representatives from
:04:00. > :04:06.Guernsey's postal flower industry could be meeting with UK MPs to make
:04:07. > :04:09.their case for getting LVCR reinstated. The tax relief which
:04:10. > :04:12.allowed low value items to be sold to the UK tax free at a massive
:04:13. > :04:17.impact on local flower industries will
:04:18. > :04:23.and industry under pressure. No longer able to sell to the UK
:04:24. > :04:27.tax`free, the loss of VAT relief has made it tough for local postal
:04:28. > :04:31.flower companies. But progress is being made to try to change that.
:04:32. > :04:35.Representatives of the industry could be heading to Westminster this
:04:36. > :04:41.month to make their case to MPs about why LVCR should be reinstated
:04:42. > :04:45.for certain home`grown items. It makes a difference because the MPs
:04:46. > :04:50.get to understand the problems that some of our growers have here. They
:04:51. > :04:53.are really facing hard times not having the same benefit that every
:04:54. > :04:58.other grower and the European Union has stop I desperately want to move
:04:59. > :05:05.this forward and so this is one of many measures to try to get
:05:06. > :05:10.something new in place of LVCR to help out what remains of our growing
:05:11. > :05:13.industry. It may be a slow process but there are at least signs of
:05:14. > :05:18.progress and not only for this industry. The loss of VAT relief had
:05:19. > :05:22.a big impact at the post office as well with Guernsey Post losing
:05:23. > :05:24.around seven of its ten biggest customers and having to foot the
:05:25. > :05:29.bill for the cost of collecting more tax on behalf of the UK. But now
:05:30. > :05:34.after months of talking, they are weeks away from signing a new deal
:05:35. > :05:38.as well. We sped a while analysing our own costs and the cost of
:05:39. > :05:45.collecting the VAT to put a case forward. That has been well received
:05:46. > :05:51.by HMRC. We have a certain amount of labour, and they get involved and
:05:52. > :05:55.those of the cost we will look to recover. That agreement may be
:05:56. > :05:57.closer to a deal to help the local growing industry but they will be
:05:58. > :06:03.hoping the talks later this month will get things moving in the right
:06:04. > :06:08.direction. Some news in brief now, a lawyer
:06:09. > :06:17.acting for the UK drugs baron Curtis Warren has urged Europe's to treat
:06:18. > :06:21.him fairly `` urged jurors. Prosecutors are now trying to
:06:22. > :06:25.confiscate nearly ?200 million from him. His case consists of over 00
:06:26. > :06:33.agreed statements and legal letters, the trial continues tomorrow.
:06:34. > :06:38.Jersey's, health Minister has been sentenced to three months in prison
:06:39. > :06:44.for contempt of court, Stuart Syvret. The judge said Syvret showed
:06:45. > :06:48.serious and repeated contempt and should be arrested and made to pay
:06:49. > :06:51.court costs. A community safety group in Jersey
:06:52. > :06:55.is calling for nightclubs to stay open later for an alcohol free chill
:06:56. > :07:04.out hour. The Safer St Helier partnership think it could reduce
:07:05. > :07:10.disturbances. Later in Spotlight with Justin and
:07:11. > :07:15.Natalie, newts disrupting the network, how they are causing havoc
:07:16. > :07:19.for a train company. Next, important documents from the
:07:20. > :07:23.Occupation have been recovered by police in Guernsey. 21 years after
:07:24. > :07:27.they were stolen. The files tell the stories of relations between Jersey
:07:28. > :07:33.but the Government and the occupying German forces and today they were
:07:34. > :07:38.returned to the archives. A crucial part of the history of
:07:39. > :07:45.occupied Jersey, lost 42 decades and today returned home. These are part
:07:46. > :07:49.of a huge raft of file stolen from the bailiffs Chambers `` lost for
:07:50. > :07:55.two decades. Up until now, it was thought these five of the papers
:07:56. > :07:57.were lost forever. They've form part of the archives which is
:07:58. > :08:02.correspondence between the bailiff of Jersey, and the German
:08:03. > :08:09.authorities during the Occupation. So they tell us the story officially
:08:10. > :08:12.about the island and there occupants experience. It is such an important
:08:13. > :08:16.part of our history and these files show us what happened during that
:08:17. > :08:21.time. The Jewish file is interesting... The missing documents
:08:22. > :08:26.include treatments of Jews and costs paid by the state to billets German
:08:27. > :08:28.soldiers so when Linda spotted World War II papers up for sale in
:08:29. > :08:36.Guernsey, she got in touch with Guernsey Police to get them back. We
:08:37. > :08:42.thought they made part of the collection from 1992 that was still
:08:43. > :08:46.outside `` outstanding `` Jersey police. We then liaise with our
:08:47. > :08:51.Guernsey colleagues and they conducted some enquiries and
:08:52. > :08:54.thankfully they were able to recover almost 500 documents. And we are
:08:55. > :08:58.glad that we could bring them back to the island where they can be
:08:59. > :09:04.displayed in the archive which is their rightful home. Police say the
:09:05. > :09:07.original thieves have already faced the courts so there will be no new
:09:08. > :09:11.prosecutions. The files will be available to the orbit from tomorrow
:09:12. > :09:21.in the archive but for now they are back home safely locked away.
:09:22. > :09:24.To sit `` tickets for next year s Sark folk Festival have sold out
:09:25. > :09:29.over the weekend, it is not even happening until next year. No
:09:30. > :09:32.confirmed performers either. Organisers say they cannot sell any
:09:33. > :09:36.more because the island's transport system would not hope. It attracts
:09:37. > :09:41.around 1000 fans every year. Let's get the weather now.
:09:42. > :09:48.After a while 24 hours or so, things are a little bit, now the wind has
:09:49. > :09:52.died down there is still the risk of some showery outbreaks overnight
:09:53. > :09:55.tonight. But the main feature of the weather, the strength of the wind
:09:56. > :10:01.that has eased. Tomorrow for fireworks and bonfire displays,
:10:02. > :10:04.expect to see some thick cloud which may produce some rain that the early
:10:05. > :10:08.rain first thing tomorrow morning should clear and then for a while
:10:09. > :10:12.will get some sunny spells but it is windy with the winds north`westerly
:10:13. > :10:16.four Match Of The Day. Shortly breaks for an otherwise white
:10:17. > :10:20.unsettled story. For the moment we have got some clear sky covering
:10:21. > :10:24.north`west France as well as the Channel Islands. This lump of cloud
:10:25. > :10:31.is sweeping towards us fast through the night so expect it to give us
:10:32. > :10:36.some abbots of rain and then it will clear with some sunny spells
:10:37. > :10:40.tomorrow afternoon but then it leaks back to this Atlantic air system,
:10:41. > :10:45.thick cloud tomorrow evening. For the fireworks displays, most of them
:10:46. > :10:48.will be dry. Wednesday is a windy day again, south`west winds which
:10:49. > :10:51.could be gale force at times and further outbreaks of rain coming in
:10:52. > :10:56.through the afternoon. The rain tonight, widespread at times quite
:10:57. > :11:00.heavy and it will Peter out towards the morning. They are mainly from
:11:01. > :11:04.the west or south West or south`west and nine Celsius, the minimum
:11:05. > :11:08.temperature. Tomorrow morning will be mainly cloudy but come lunchtime
:11:09. > :11:11.just after, it will improve and we will see some sunny spells
:11:12. > :11:16.developing and it becomes largely dry. The winds are north`westerly,
:11:17. > :11:20.fresh too strong and we will see them produce up to around 14 Celsius
:11:21. > :11:26.as a maximum. These are the coastal Waters forecasts. And the times of
:11:27. > :11:35.high water: For most of our surfing beaches the
:11:36. > :11:38.conditions are likely to be quite messy. Wednesday is a wet and windy
:11:39. > :11:43.day turning showery on Thursday and Friday.
:11:44. > :11:48.BBC Guernsey tomorrow morning, following on from the plane crash,

:12:01. > :12:04.Jim Cathcart from 7am on BBC Guernsey. That is it from the
:12:05. > :12:10.Channel Islands, let's join Spotlight.
:12:11. > :12:16.are doing as much as they can to make that known where they live.
:12:17. > :12:19.Coming up later in the programme ` delayed again by the weather. We'll
:12:20. > :12:22.hear from the local yachtsman still waiting for the start of the Transat
:12:23. > :12:35.race. And find out how Great Crested Newts
:12:36. > :12:39.are delaying rail improvements. More than 100 new jobs will be
:12:40. > :12:41.created in Plymouth with the development of artists studios and
:12:42. > :12:45.workshops. The scheme has secured more than ?2 million of European
:12:46. > :12:48.funding and as John Danks reports, it's hoped it will help to keep some
:12:49. > :12:53.of the most talented arts graduates in the city.
:12:54. > :12:59.Moulding a career from the arts can be a challenge for graduates. Jane
:13:00. > :13:02.completed her degree in contemporary Craft earlier this year. She moved
:13:03. > :13:07.away from Plymouth for a while, before finding a job back here in
:13:08. > :13:12.the College of art. She welcomes the boost to arts funding in the city.
:13:13. > :13:22.That's what Plymouth needs, graduate opportunities where you have
:13:23. > :13:28.excellent studio space. 32 new artists studios are to be built here
:13:29. > :13:34.at the Royal William Yard. Artists will be able to create and sell
:13:35. > :13:39.their work here. We tend to have an intubation space and business
:13:40. > :13:44.support with various network providers from the region. There
:13:45. > :13:49.will be workshop facilities, ceramics, jewellery, Prince, which
:13:50. > :13:54.ordinarily artists wouldn't be able to afford that kind of equipment.
:13:55. > :14:05.Work is due to start here soon, with the facility being ready by 2015.
:14:06. > :14:12.Ocean Studios secured the money. If you get a hundred jobs for ?800,000,
:14:13. > :14:19.that is greatly village of that will stand against any project. Good news
:14:20. > :14:22.perhaps for some of these arts graduates of tomorrow, but the
:14:23. > :14:27.demand for studio space is as high, with more than 200 artists already
:14:28. > :14:31.on the waiting list for the new development.
:14:32. > :14:38.Time for the sport now and Dave has news from a pretty good weekend for
:14:39. > :14:44.our teams. We start with their bad news. Yeovil
:14:45. > :14:48.Town's recent revival was halted at Leeds United in the Championship by
:14:49. > :14:51.two goals to nil. They were holding their own at half`time, but two
:14:52. > :14:54.second half finishes from Ross McCormack sent the Glovers back to
:14:55. > :14:57.the bottom of the table. Gary Johnson's team now face FA Cup
:14:58. > :15:07.holders Wigan Athletic at Huish Park next Sunday. It is a long way off
:15:08. > :15:10.yet and at the end of the season, it is 30 games. As long as we keep
:15:11. > :15:14.improving and I see an improvement in the labs, we're getting there and
:15:15. > :15:17.we're competing. Onto the rest of the football and rugby. Exeter
:15:18. > :15:20.Chiefs maintained their top four placing in the Premiership after a
:15:21. > :15:23.narrow win at Sale Sharks. The round ball game saw precious wins for
:15:24. > :15:25.Plymouth Argyle and Torquay United in League Two. Earlier, former
:15:26. > :15:36.professional players Chris Hargreaves and Andy Birkett joined
:15:37. > :15:45.me to take stock of the results. Another good result, they have
:15:46. > :15:56.beaten others at home. He is awesome with his boot. Great technique for
:15:57. > :16:02.any youngster playing sport. A couple of tackles, keen to get his
:16:03. > :16:14.shirt back. It is a tough team to get into at the moment. Plymouth
:16:15. > :16:28.Albion went down despite a brave fight against Bristol. Albion a bit
:16:29. > :16:35.disappointing. Better than some other teams, but still
:16:36. > :16:38.disappointing. Exeter city second successive defeat, this time at
:16:39. > :16:48.Portsmouth. They were 3`0 down at Fratton Park. Classic case of
:16:49. > :16:56.inconsistency. Frustrating for them. Defending crosses is really
:16:57. > :17:01.important. They scored two on the day, good headers. One crumb of
:17:02. > :17:08.comfort, a glimmer of hope was the mini fightback. A great striker's
:17:09. > :17:12.finish here. That will give him some confidence and the team some
:17:13. > :17:22.confidence, because they nearly did it. Why the sudden turnaround? Art
:17:23. > :17:32.work, training ground, solid shape, knocking goals away, usual stuff
:17:33. > :17:41.will stop a brilliant finish across the keeper. No better time to
:17:42. > :17:48.score, 90 minutes on the clock. Paul McCallum, what a difference as he
:17:49. > :17:56.made for Torquay? This first man coming up has made a big difference.
:17:57. > :18:01.But Blair comes back in. 26 days ago, he had surgery, that is a big
:18:02. > :18:08.mark of a man to do that. Come back in, please, scores the first balls
:18:09. > :18:16.and calms the nerves. There is his first. A great header, carbon copy
:18:17. > :18:32.of the first one. He scores a brilliant finish, he scores a great
:18:33. > :18:36.goal here. Nice to see you, thanks for the entertainment.
:18:37. > :18:39.Britain's top jump jockey AP McCoy needs two more victories to reach
:18:40. > :18:46.the 4,000 winners milestone and he could do it at Exeter racecourse
:18:47. > :18:50.tomorrow. McCoy has three rides at the Haldon track all on Jonjo
:18:51. > :18:54.O'Neill horses. It will be fitting if he manages the feat as he rode
:18:55. > :19:00.his first ever British winner at Exeter in 1994 on Chickabiddy.
:19:01. > :19:08.Racing starts at ten to two with the feature race, the Haldon Gold Cup,
:19:09. > :19:10.an hour later. Falmouth yachtsman Sam Goodchild
:19:11. > :19:14.will have to wait three more days before being able to start the
:19:15. > :19:18.Transat Jacques Vabre yacht race from France to Brazil. The start has
:19:19. > :19:30.been delayed for a second time due to bad weather. Spotlight's Andy
:19:31. > :19:36.Breare has the latest from Le Havre. After news of another delay, there
:19:37. > :19:40.has been a despondent moods in their race village. The skipper says while
:19:41. > :19:45.the postponement is frustrating, it is understandable. If we have an
:19:46. > :19:49.option to go in light winds, which might be an option on Thursday,
:19:50. > :19:55.definitely, let's take it. I want to race with everyone else. 45 knots
:19:56. > :19:59.doesn't normally allow that to happen. Last night, the skipper is
:20:00. > :20:03.here held an unofficial meeting, where the majority decided they
:20:04. > :20:08.weren't happy starting the race today because of the very high
:20:09. > :20:12.winds. They took that decision to the race director, who capitulated
:20:13. > :20:18.and promptly postponed the release until Thursday. 80% of us didn't
:20:19. > :20:28.want to leave. For us, it was the right decision. The last thing we
:20:29. > :20:32.want is to go in that weather. The frustrating game continues for the
:20:33. > :20:43.race fleet as they prepared to race to Brazil on Thursday.
:20:44. > :20:47.Finally, Guernsey's Heather Watson had to withdraw from the singles of
:20:48. > :20:50.the Barnstaple Tennis Open. She was feeling unwell, but did return for
:20:51. > :21:02.the doubles in which she and Jo Konta were eliminated in the
:21:03. > :21:05.semi`finals. Network Rail has been forced to
:21:06. > :21:10.delay improvement work to its track in Devon after rare Great Crested
:21:11. > :21:14.Newts were found near the site. The amphibians are protected by EU and
:21:15. > :21:18.UK law. The train company has put up several
:21:19. > :21:21.miles of special newt fencing so it can remove the creatures before it
:21:22. > :21:29.starts work at Whiteball tunnel at Burlescombe. Spotlight's Janine
:21:30. > :21:36.Jansen has the story. What is made of white plastic and
:21:37. > :21:41.goes on and on and on? It is new to fencing. Network rail wants to
:21:42. > :21:44.improve the track, but the trouble is, there is a pond nearby and in
:21:45. > :21:52.our prayer and protected Great Crested Newts. So network We'll have
:21:53. > :21:59.to remove them before they start work. Simon Williams has to check
:22:00. > :22:04.more than 200 buckets and mats for 60 days. So far, he has found 45.
:22:05. > :22:14.The day I met him, we weren't so lucky. A few frogs, but now Great
:22:15. > :22:21.Crested Newts. When was the last time you counted them? Day before
:22:22. > :22:28.yesterday. The local farmer is amazed. Never heard of them before.
:22:29. > :22:32.I couldn't believe that. I much fencing have they put up? I would've
:22:33. > :22:39.thought something like three miles of fencing, because it's all round
:22:40. > :22:44.my spots here and they have gone inside the railway to the end of the
:22:45. > :22:53.tunnel and then they have gone in this other field. They said the
:22:54. > :23:01.fencing alone has cost ?25,000. The traps are made as enticing as
:23:02. > :23:06.possible. A bit of foliage, bit of sponge, increase any mammals I'm in
:23:07. > :23:11.there and they can climb out if it gets waterlogged. Simon says the
:23:12. > :23:18.biggest number of Great Crested Newts years found here in one`day
:23:19. > :23:24.was 19. It is amazing what you learn. I
:23:25. > :23:27.never knew there was such a thing as Newt fencing. Time for the weather
:23:28. > :23:41.forecast. More to come this week, don't expect
:23:42. > :23:53.anything to settle down. We have had a lovely day today, but only for one
:23:54. > :23:57.day. If you were kept awake last night by the gusts of wind, these
:23:58. > :24:07.are the gusts of wind between midnight and three in the morning.
:24:08. > :24:11.It is a little bit quieter this evening. The winds to pick up in the
