:00:00. > :00:08.arrives on Friday. Can't wait! That's all

:00:09. > :05:09.Aurigny's taken the top spot in a survey of the world's best

:05:10. > :05:14.short`haul airlines. Readers of the consumer magazine Which? Ranked

:05:15. > :05:17.Aurigny higher than other major carriers such as British Airways,

:05:18. > :05:19.EasyJet, and Ryanair. Factors considered in the poll included

:05:20. > :05:23.value for money, baggage allowance and leg room. A Jersey`based travel

:05:24. > :05:26.operator has helped uncover an internet scam targeting the ski

:05:27. > :05:30.holiday market. Con artists are trying to steal thousands of pounds

:05:31. > :05:34.from holiday`makers by posing as the owners of luxury chalets. A Jersey

:05:35. > :05:37.company is one of those being targeted and it's owner is trying to

:05:38. > :05:46.stop the scam. Pam Caulfield reports. It is the beginning of the

:05:47. > :05:49.ski season and while some holiday`makers are hitting the

:05:50. > :05:56.school 's `` slopes, others have been left high and dry. Con artist

:05:57. > :06:07.target genuine travel websites like this one. We find this alternate

:06:08. > :06:14.site three weeks ago, you can see the photographs all taken from my

:06:15. > :06:19.site. The boys as chalet owners, advertise on other sites with the

:06:20. > :06:27.one contact details and take money off of holiday`makers. I would take

:06:28. > :06:31.to think our chalets are being used in this week to corn people out of

:06:32. > :06:36.money. We are doing our best, highlighting, contacting the agents

:06:37. > :06:43.and operators to make sure they are doing the bit to keep an eye on this

:06:44. > :06:51.as well. It is within hard to stop. This woman and her friends paid

:06:52. > :06:55.13,000 homes to a conman. We cannot believe we were so gullible, we are

:06:56. > :07:01.all professionals, we live in London and use the intranet daily. We felt

:07:02. > :07:08.stupid to fall prey and that aims to a plan like this. Victims might not

:07:09. > :07:15.only lose the money but they might not know they have been scammed

:07:16. > :07:22.until they arrive at the resort. We do not want people who have spent

:07:23. > :07:29.money out one of these fraudulent listings and to turn up with another

:07:30. > :07:36.family and fourth or to go into the same property. That is what we want

:07:37. > :07:45.to avoid. If it looks too good to be true, it probably is. Coming up

:07:46. > :07:54.later: Christmas countdown, the Street transformed into a giant

:07:55. > :08:00.advent calendar. No, ahead of Christmas this week we are featuring

:08:01. > :09:25.festive songs and carols. Tonight David a signing choir in Jersey.

:09:26. > :09:30.That was beautiful and we will be hearing from another festive choir

:09:31. > :09:33.tomorrow. And staying with the festive theme, hundreds of people in

:09:34. > :09:36.Guernsey were getting into the spirit yesterday. They were taking

:09:37. > :09:39.part in the annual Santa Fun Run. They were running for the charity

:09:40. > :09:45.Aid Reaching Children, which helps children all around the world. It is

:09:46. > :09:53.beginning to look a lot like Christmas at the weather is not

:09:54. > :09:55.being ball. How is it working? It is looking more like a wet Christmas

:09:56. > :10:01.than a white Christmas at the moment. We have been this evening.

:10:02. > :10:12.It will be wet through much of the data model and windy at times. It

:10:13. > :10:22.does remain relatively mild for the next few days. This suite of cloud

:10:23. > :10:24.will push up from the South West. We have some weather fronts which will

:10:25. > :10:31.bring rain and keep clean throughout the night and tomorrow. The weather

:10:32. > :10:35.front will clear towards the end of the day tomorrow. The next weather

:10:36. > :10:40.system will be shown from the West on Wednesday bringing more rain. The

:10:41. > :10:46.isobars close together so gale force winds are possible. That is towards

:10:47. > :10:52.the end of the week. Some heavy bursts of rain through the night.

:10:53. > :10:57.Heavy winds coming from the east and north`east. Temperature is now lower

:10:58. > :11:04.than seven degrees. A wet start to tomorrow, water on the Lord's first

:11:05. > :11:10.ring tomorrow. The rain should start to ease as we go through the data

:11:11. > :11:18.model. The wind will ease by the end of the model. Temperatures tomorrow

:11:19. > :11:23.afternoon reaching up to 10 degrees. Out at sea tomorrow we have been or

:11:24. > :11:41.drizzle at times. Modric, occasionally prove his ability. ``

:11:42. > :11:51.moderate, occasionally poor visibility.

:11:52. > :11:59.The rest of the week will still see some wet weather with us, rain

:12:00. > :12:05.arriving on Wednesday, strong winds, still breezy on Thursday and Friday

:12:06. > :12:10.but the wind will not be quite so strong and we will see some drier

:12:11. > :12:15.and brighter weather as well. Find out if that wet and windy weather

:12:16. > :12:19.will affect any of your travel plans by tuning into our radio stations.

:12:20. > :12:23.From us for now, good buy. help they can get. With big projects

:12:24. > :12:30.like the Atlantic Array of the table, small`scale projects could be

:12:31. > :12:34.the future. Now you'll remember during the Olympics there was a lot

:12:35. > :12:38.of talk about the legacy the games would leave. Well, one thing to have

:12:39. > :12:42.come out of London 2012 is the sport of handball. Yes, it's one of the

:12:43. > :12:46.most popular sports in Europe and it could be taking off in Devon. Now,

:12:47. > :12:49.the hunt's on to find enough under`16s to form the county's very

:12:50. > :12:58.first handball team. Our North Devon reporter Andrea Ormsby has the

:12:59. > :13:03.story. He grew up playing handball in France. His coaching skills are

:13:04. > :13:09.much needed because here, handball is something you get a penalty for

:13:10. > :13:19.in football. It is inclusive, it is a team sport, it is everything I

:13:20. > :13:24.like in a sport. It is great. At the moment we are attacking this way.

:13:25. > :13:31.The blues have the ball. Very quickly, they are moving back down

:13:32. > :13:35.the pitch. We want to get handball to be a commonly played sport. At

:13:36. > :13:40.the moment, we are trying to get people to find out about it and try

:13:41. > :13:44.it and then we will hopefully set up competitions. It might be little

:13:45. > :13:50.known, but handball is massive in Europe, with 19 million players and

:13:51. > :13:54.more than 150,000 teams. It is the second most played team sport for

:13:55. > :13:59.men and the second for women and these children love it. It is fun.

:14:00. > :14:06.You can pass it around, you can shoot, it makes you feel nice. You

:14:07. > :14:13.can get to score. I enjoy doing sport, but this is really good, you

:14:14. > :14:20.get to be a team player and you get to have fun passing and trying to

:14:21. > :14:25.score goals. So far there is only one handball club in the South West

:14:26. > :14:30.and an organisation set up last year is trying to change that. The goal

:14:31. > :14:33.is to have Devon's very first under 16 's team ready to compete in the

:14:34. > :14:43.national schools Championships next year. Onto the rest of the sport and

:14:44. > :14:51.Ruta Meilutyte has continued her golden form in the pool, hasn't she,

:14:52. > :14:54.Dave? Exeter Chiefs are virtually out of rugby's European Cup after

:14:55. > :14:58.going down 32`20 at holders Toulon. They were outscored by four tries to

:14:59. > :15:00.two, although they led 7`5 with Don Armand's excellent score in the

:15:01. > :15:04.first half, the South African's first for the Chiefs. But the French

:15:05. > :15:08.side went on to strengthen their grip at the top of Pool Two with

:15:09. > :15:16.Jonny Wilkinson dashing in to complete Toulon's scoring. Only

:15:17. > :15:19.Plymouth Argyle suffered defeat out of the South West Football League

:15:20. > :15:21.teams this weekend. John Sheridan's return to his former club

:15:22. > :15:25.Chesterfield ended in a 2`0 loss. But the rest came out unbeaten.

:15:26. > :15:34.Here's how the managers and fans reacted. It was a tired affair, both

:15:35. > :15:40.teams tried to the game. They knew a win would have been the better

:15:41. > :15:44.results. We are disappointed. We felt we had some good situations.

:15:45. > :15:54.Our goalkeeper made a couple of good saves. Keeper did not have make

:15:55. > :16:04.saves. `` their keeper. What a terrific goal! He is going forward

:16:05. > :16:17.again. A chance here. It is our second goal for Exeter city! Then a

:16:18. > :16:23.sharps! At a horrific goal! `` a brilliant goal. The goals we give

:16:24. > :16:28.away were a joke. It give us a mountain to climb. I thought we

:16:29. > :16:36.dominated the first half. It is about scoring goals. We had a

:16:37. > :16:43.penalty, if he had scored, the game would have been different. Everyone

:16:44. > :16:51.says how good the team is. We have not put points on the table. That

:16:52. > :17:01.was the aim. Today, I thought we were excellent against one of the

:17:02. > :17:04.best teams in the league. Plymouth College swimmer Ruta Meilutyte has

:17:05. > :17:07.added two more gold medals to take her haul this year to 14. The

:17:08. > :17:09.16`year`old Olympic and World champion set a new European

:17:10. > :17:12.short`course Championship record, pipping her great rival Yuliya

:17:13. > :17:16.Efimova of Russia. Ruta won a total of three medals in Denmark,

:17:17. > :17:18.including two golds and a silver, to end a phenomenal year for the

:17:19. > :17:25.Lithuanian who lives, trains and studies in Plymouth. Finally, kite

:17:26. > :17:28.racing's European Champion, Olly Bridge from Exmouth, came second at

:17:29. > :17:31.the inaugural Oceanic Championships at Fremantle in Australia. He was

:17:32. > :17:33.runner`up to the World champion, Florian Gruber of Germany.

:17:34. > :17:37.16`year`old Bridge pressurised Gruber all week, winning two races

:17:38. > :18:00.in the regatta and more than ?2,000 in prize money. That looks

:18:01. > :18:02.tremendous! A group of volunteers is planning to restart a centuries old

:18:03. > :18:06.industry along the Somerset coastline ` oyster farming. The

:18:07. > :18:09.group in the village of Porlock, near Minehead have already received

:18:10. > :18:11.grants of ?17,000 for a pilot project using oysters from Falmouth.

:18:12. > :18:24.Our Somerset Correspondent Clinton Rogers has the story. In this area

:18:25. > :18:28.is where the old fish traps and tidal ponds used to be. Out there

:18:29. > :18:36.somewhere beneath the sea there are apparently still the remnants of the

:18:37. > :18:41.oyster farms of Porlock Wear. In the day, they produced a delicacy

:18:42. > :18:47.renowned across the country. The best tasting oysters anywhere, or so

:18:48. > :18:52.they claimed. The oyster industry here disappeared about 80 years ago.

:18:53. > :18:58.In a few years time we will have an industry here. Now a voluntary

:18:59. > :19:02.organisation dedicated to encouraging economic growth, wants

:19:03. > :19:07.to restart the industry. To create new jobs in an area where such

:19:08. > :19:13.things are almost as rare as oysters. We are one of the oldest

:19:14. > :19:17.communities in the country `` country. It is difficult for young

:19:18. > :19:22.people with families to find good employment so that they can stay

:19:23. > :19:36.here. Is this the answer? We think it is. ?17,000 has been given to

:19:37. > :19:41.fund a pilot project. Initially, young oysters will be brought in

:19:42. > :19:45.from other fisheries, like here in Falmouth, and then they will be

:19:46. > :19:51.cultivated in Porlock. It will be an important test to see if the waters

:19:52. > :19:57.here can still sustain oysters. Eventually, if everything works out

:19:58. > :20:05.fine, we will have hundreds of oysters. It will be quite good in

:20:06. > :20:10.the local pubs. The trial will last one year at if it is successful,

:20:11. > :20:15.then this bay will once again see commercial oyster production, but

:20:16. > :20:20.what makes this project unique is that if and when it makes money,

:20:21. > :20:30.that money will be reinvested into another community project. Always

:20:31. > :20:34.with the aim of growing new jobs. Now do you have an advent calendar?

:20:35. > :20:36.Well, what if your whole street became an advent calendar? That's

:20:37. > :20:39.what they've done in Ashburton in South Devon. Neighbours in St

:20:40. > :20:42.Lawrence Lane have dressed up their windows to help with the countdown

:20:43. > :20:53.to Christmas. Johnny Rutherford has been to have a look. Just off one of

:20:54. > :20:58.the main streets and Ashburton is St Lawrence Lane. In May look like an

:20:59. > :21:07.average street, but something the residents are doing is causing

:21:08. > :21:11.excitement `` it may look like. The whole street has been transformed

:21:12. > :21:17.into what local residents are calling a living calendar. I sent

:21:18. > :21:24.about 35 letters and about 28 people replied wanting to be apart of it. I

:21:25. > :21:33.had to turn a few people down. It has been amazing, really lovely.

:21:34. > :21:38.Each day is a surprise. I am number 18 and the box has come down from

:21:39. > :21:43.the attic and I think flashing lights are essential. We are

:21:44. > :21:50.nervous. It has become competitive. It is lovely. We had a little boy

:21:51. > :21:55.coming home from school and he was very excited because he had found 11

:21:56. > :22:04.and you could hear him jumping up and down with excitement. It made it

:22:05. > :22:13.all worthwhile for us. I want to see the next one. I want to see the man

:22:14. > :22:18.leading the elephants. I like how they used everything they can think

:22:19. > :22:25.of. I like the nativity scenes. Which house will display tomorrow's

:22:26. > :22:42.window? That secret stays with the cat.

:22:43. > :22:51.More of a wet Christmas rather than a white Christmas. Some rain with us

:22:52. > :22:55.for tonight, the week ahead is looking rather unsettled. Some

:22:56. > :23:02.strong winds at times, especially for the middle part of the week. For

:23:03. > :23:07.today, we had cloud coming up from the south, it has kept things mild,

:23:08. > :23:15.but we have some weather fronts bringing rain for tonight. Some

:23:16. > :23:20.heavy downpours for a time. Tomorrow could be the best day of the week in

:23:21. > :23:24.terms of a dry and bright day. By the time we get to wear them stay,

:23:25. > :23:33.and other system moves in, some gales are possible. Today we had

:23:34. > :23:42.some rain, some heavy downpours, and some fairly cloudy conditions. If

:23:43. > :23:47.you're on the roads tonight, there is a lot of water. Tomorrow, that

:23:48. > :23:54.rain will start to clear away and with light winds and clearer skies,

:23:55. > :23:59.some mist and fog is likely, and temperatures will drop down to three

:24:00. > :24:07.or four degrees. Parts of the countryside could be lower than

:24:08. > :24:12.that. You might find some mist and fog tomorrow, the sun should clear

:24:13. > :24:18.that away, a few showers close to the south coast, but otherwise you

:24:19. > :24:23.are looking at a dry day with some lighter winds temperatures reaching

:24:24. > :24:30.up to around eight or nine degrees. For the Isles of Scilly, a fairly

:24:31. > :24:43.dry and bright day, moderate winds. Times of high water... For the

:24:44. > :24:52.surfers, some decent waves for the North Coast. Generally clean waves.

:24:53. > :25:06.Choppy on the south coast. The coastal waters forecast... The week

:25:07. > :25:10.ahead continues and settles, so make the most of the dry and bright

:25:11. > :25:18.weather tomorrow. On weapon state there will be heavy rain arriving

:25:19. > :25:23.from the West `` Wednesday. Thursday and Friday is still quite breezy,

:25:24. > :25:27.but a bit cooler. A few showers could turn wintry, but on Friday it

:25:28. > :25:31.looks like we will return to more wet and windy weather.

:25:32. > :25:37.Now, before we go this evening, as is our tradition in the run up to

:25:38. > :25:40.Christmas, we have the first of our Christmas Carols. This year we

:25:41. > :25:43.recorded singers and choirs from our four counties in the Mary Harris

:25:44. > :25:45.Chapel at the University of Exeter. Tonight we leave you with the Sterts

:25:46. > :25:57.Singers from Cornwall. Goodnight.
