:00:09. > :00:13.Good evening. Rescuers have tonight suspended their search for a man

:00:14. > :00:17.swept out to sea after celebrating the New Year near Porthleven. The

:00:18. > :00:21.operation will resume tomorrow. The 27`year`old was with friends at Loe

:00:22. > :00:25.Bar Beach in the early hours of this morning when he disappeared. They'd

:00:26. > :00:30.been on holiday in the area. It's the second such incident in 24

:00:31. > :00:33.hours. A woman died yesterday after being pulled from the water near

:00:34. > :00:37.Croyde. Police are warning people not to enter the sea in bad weather.

:00:38. > :00:42.Leigh Rundle reports from Porthleven. What more memorable spot

:00:43. > :00:46.to see in the New Year than this remote Cornish beach? But in

:00:47. > :00:51.darkness, the group who were holidaying near by perhaps failed to

:00:52. > :00:54.spot the warning signs. Coastguard teams have spent the day and most of

:00:55. > :01:01.last night scouring Porthleven for any sign of the missing man. They

:01:02. > :01:06.had gone into the sea only a very shallow distance. Unfortunately one

:01:07. > :01:10.of them appears to have lost their footing and ended up in the sea. The

:01:11. > :01:13.conditions you can see behind us are atrocious. Last night we were faced

:01:14. > :01:20.with driving rain, sea conditions as they are now, very rough and five or

:01:21. > :01:23.six metre swells. As conditions worsened, a search and rescue

:01:24. > :01:30.helicopter from Culdrose was recalled, along with two lifeboats.

:01:31. > :01:33.Primarily, we were relying on the coastguards on foot, walking the

:01:34. > :01:38.shoreline, walking the cliff paths to try and spot the man in the

:01:39. > :01:43.water. The 27`year`old man from Surrey is the second victim of

:01:44. > :01:46.treacherous seas in 24 hours. While stormy conditions remain, police and

:01:47. > :01:54.rescue services are urging anyone visiting the region's beaches to

:01:55. > :01:57.take extra care. With poor conditions continuing today a

:01:58. > :02:00.kayaker has been rescued from the River Dart and firefighters have

:02:01. > :02:06.helped people stuck in cars in Honiton and South Brent. John

:02:07. > :02:13.Henderson reports. The east Devon village of Feniton on full alert

:02:14. > :02:16.this morning. So far there have been no reports of homes being flooded.

:02:17. > :02:20.The River Dart in fall spate, a kayaker was stranded on an island in

:02:21. > :02:23.the middle of a swollen live near Buckfastleigh. A special rescue team

:02:24. > :02:28.of firefighters from Exeter used throwlines to bring the canoeist to

:02:29. > :02:31.safety. Travel was precarious ` roads were flooded, there were

:02:32. > :02:36.several reports of people having to be rescued from their cars in Devon.

:02:37. > :02:39.There were delays on the railways, with flooding in the Tiverton

:02:40. > :02:44.Parkway area and the track Axminster. Driving rain and heavy

:02:45. > :02:48.seas in Plymouth and more is on the way tonight ` 32 flood warnings and

:02:49. > :02:50.54 flood alerts across the South West, forecasters are predicting

:02:51. > :02:53.strong winds, torrential downpours and further flooding in the coming

:02:54. > :02:56.days. It's being reported in India that a multi`million pound order put

:02:57. > :03:09.in to the Yeovil helicopter manufacturer Agusta Westland has

:03:10. > :03:12.been cancelled. The Government contract for 12 luxury aircraft has

:03:13. > :03:15.been in the balance since allegations surfaced last year that

:03:16. > :03:21.it may have been won through bribery. The company has always

:03:22. > :03:24.denied the claims. Today's sporting fixtures took a battering from the

:03:25. > :03:27.weather. Both Exeter City and Yeovil Town's games were postponed because

:03:28. > :03:31.of waterlogged pitches, but in the Devon derby Plymouth Argyle ran out

:03:32. > :03:34.2`0 winners over Torquay United at Home Park. On`loan striker Caolan

:03:35. > :03:37.Lavery put the Pilgrims ahead on the hour with his third goal for the

:03:38. > :03:43.club. And with five minutes remaining, Lewis Alessandra sealed

:03:44. > :03:47.the win when he was left unmarked. Argyle's third victory in four games

:03:48. > :03:50.sees them move into the top half of the table, while defeat for Torquay

:03:51. > :03:56.means they remain in the relegation zone. The weather continues to

:03:57. > :04:04.dominate the headlines and there's another band of rain on the way.

:04:05. > :04:08.Here's Holly. Hello there, we have some heavy, blustery showers working

:04:09. > :04:12.their way across us tonight. Some quite organised and we have a Met

:04:13. > :04:17.Office yellow warning for rain for the first part of tonight. However,

:04:18. > :04:21.through the early hours the showers will become more scattered. So we

:04:22. > :04:26.start the day tomorrow with some showers from the word go. They are

:04:27. > :04:33.being driven through on blustery wind. But we will see sunny spells.

:04:34. > :04:38.Before cloud thickens and this area of wet and windy weather sweeps in.

:04:39. > :04:42.Thereafter as we head into Friday, we have some strong winds and some

:04:43. > :04:47.squally showers and we have another Met Office yellow warning in force

:04:48. > :04:54.for rain for Friday. And it stays unsettled for the weekend. So with

:04:55. > :04:58.no let up in the weather ` tune in to your BBC local radio breakfast

:04:59. > :04:59.show for the latest travel news. I'm back at 20`to`11 this evening. Bye

:05:00. > :05:20.for now. Hello. It is a New Year but it is

:05:21. > :05:27.the same old weather. Flood warnings are on the rise. The flood line

:05:28. > :05:33.number is on screen if you are at all concerned. Still some rain to

:05:34. > :05:37.come this evening and overnight. Still some heavy bursts. It will

:05:38. > :05:44.push the way towards the east taking the strongest winds with it. It did

:05:45. > :05:48.in temperature across the Highlands. Temperatures are holding up fairly

:05:49. > :05:55.well. Tomorrow, I can offer you a glimpse of brightness. Quite it

:05:56. > :05:57.isn't over getting out and about. Many places staying
