:00:00. > :00:11.Good evening. what lessons the flood have

:00:12. > :00:14.Good evening. Jersey's airport could lose airlines

:00:15. > :00:19.and routes if the listed arrivals hall is not demolished. That's the

:00:20. > :00:22.warning from transport officials who are stepping up their campaign

:00:23. > :00:24.tonight. The 1937 building is listed, and heritage campaigners say

:00:25. > :00:28.it's a rare and important aviation landmark. Well, our reporter Jen

:00:29. > :00:43.Smith was given exclusive access to operations at the airport today

:00:44. > :00:48.M is one of 30 air`traffic controllers here at Jersey Airport.

:00:49. > :00:53.He and his colleagues handle around 200 aircraft movement a day. If the

:00:54. > :00:58.historic arrivals hall remains, there are job will become a lot more

:00:59. > :01:06.complex. It was built nearly 80 years ago. Heritage campaigners say

:01:07. > :01:10.that it of national importance. To remain compliant with international

:01:11. > :01:17.safety standards they must demolish it. If it is not knocked down,

:01:18. > :01:21.Jersey could lose airlines and roots. Airport officials believe the

:01:22. > :01:24.regulator will be the forced to impose a fine restrictions, which

:01:25. > :01:36.will lead to more flight cancellations.

:01:37. > :01:40.We lose 200 hours per year at this level. The decision height is where

:01:41. > :01:45.the pilot can see the runway. The restriction could raise that to 500

:01:46. > :01:57.feet, which would mean that a whole lot more airspace is subject to

:01:58. > :02:01.cancellations. There are special designations

:02:02. > :02:10.within the island 's plan. The rules I have to follow. For technical

:02:11. > :02:13.reasons, where buildings have to be retained, there are special

:02:14. > :02:18.consideration. He is aware he could be accused by

:02:19. > :02:22.some of ruining Jersey's airport if he decides to keep the arrivals

:02:23. > :02:26.hall, but he is used to difficult decisions. That decision is due on

:02:27. > :02:29.the 24th. And you can hear more from Doug

:02:30. > :02:32.Bannister of Jersey Airport on BBC Radio Jersey at 8am tomorrow.

:02:33. > :02:35.Guernsey Police are working to identify the body of a man

:02:36. > :02:38.discovered on the West Coast today. It was recovered early this

:02:39. > :02:41.afternoon near the Fort Hommet Headland. Officers say they're not

:02:42. > :02:45.treating the death as suspicious at this stage. A postmortem will take

:02:46. > :02:48.place in the next few days. Further evidence has been heard in

:02:49. > :02:51.the trial of the man accused of murdering Guernsey woman Sarah

:02:52. > :02:54.Groves. Richard de Wit denies killing the twenty`four year old on

:02:55. > :02:58.a houseboat in Kashmir last April. Today, the court heard from a

:02:59. > :03:01.neighbour living on a nearby boat. There are calls for a debate in

:03:02. > :03:04.Guernsey on whether cannabis should be legalised. Twenty islanders

:03:05. > :03:08.staged a march this weekend, calling for a change in the law. Cannabis is

:03:09. > :03:12.currently classified as a Class B drug, making it a criminal offence

:03:13. > :03:17.to possess, supply or import it in the Bailiwick.

:03:18. > :03:20.And it's been announced that Blue Islands and Aurigny will be

:03:21. > :03:23.operating it's codeshare flights between Guernsey and Jersey from

:03:24. > :03:28.Sunday the 16th of March. The two carriers are to save costs.

:03:29. > :03:32.The dispute between Condor Ferries and its crew on the Rapide vessel

:03:33. > :03:35.could be over within a week, according to a union leader, but

:03:36. > :03:38.only if the company gives the crew what they're asking for. The

:03:39. > :03:41.International Transport Workers Federation want the company and the

:03:42. > :03:44.vessel to be registered in France. Condor says it doesn't have the

:03:45. > :03:47.money to afford all of these changes, and it's already lost half

:03:48. > :03:51.a million pounds because of the action. Tonight, the boat and its

:03:52. > :03:58.crew remain in St Malo, from where Chris Stone reports.

:03:59. > :04:02.A site that most channel islanders won't have seen for nearly two weeks

:04:03. > :04:10.` the Condor Rapide is here tied up in the harbour in Saint Malo. Union

:04:11. > :04:13.representatives say they want the vessel and the company to be

:04:14. > :04:16.registered in France, which would give the crew better pay and

:04:17. > :04:23.conditions. This morning, as she headed into another meeting, the

:04:24. > :04:29.union leader told me they are in no mood to back down. After 12 days, it

:04:30. > :04:36.has already cost Condor more than ?500,000. They said it would cost

:04:37. > :04:40.even more than that to give the union what they want. Businesses

:04:41. > :04:42.here are also starting to feel the pinch, with the loss of one of their

:04:43. > :05:02.main sources of tourists. Businesses in the Channel Islands

:05:03. > :05:05.who rely on Condor to carry their goods say life is becoming very

:05:06. > :05:10.difficult. The union has now taken on a lawyer to help them in the

:05:11. > :05:15.negotiations. The strike could be over in a week if Condor make the

:05:16. > :05:23.right promises, but for the moment the Condor Rapide stays here.

:05:24. > :05:28.Passengers have been offered tickets to the UK, where they could catch

:05:29. > :05:32.another ferry to get to France. The cost of this strike is going up for

:05:33. > :05:41.everyone. Well, James Fulford is the Chief

:05:42. > :05:45.Executive Officer of Condor Ferries. We've hit the main have term

:05:46. > :05:50.holidays. Guernsey last weekend We're trying hard to get Jersey away

:05:51. > :05:54.this weekend. That's one of the reasons why the losses have been so

:05:55. > :05:59.difficult, because confidence has been shaken by this difficult

:06:00. > :06:05.action. We obviously have a view as to how sensible we think this action

:06:06. > :06:11.was, but yes ` ?500,000. It's been a difficult thing for us to have to

:06:12. > :06:15.accept. After this following week, things do go quieter. The season

:06:16. > :06:21.doesn't run out for a few weeks But we hope to get this resolved much

:06:22. > :06:24.quicker than that. That's the news. Coming up, the

:06:25. > :06:32.national weather, but first our local forecast with David Braine.

:06:33. > :06:40.This week looks considerably quieter than the last weeks. At least the

:06:41. > :06:47.winds are a lot lighter. A lot of dry weather tomorrow, even maybe

:06:48. > :06:54.some sunshine. The showery rain we have tonight will clear away. Just a

:06:55. > :06:58.few showers left behind overnight. Tomorrow, there will be some showers

:06:59. > :07:02.in the morning, but in the afternoon it is much brighter. Winds are

:07:03. > :07:08.generally light, mainly from the South West. A top temperature of 10

:07:09. > :07:11.degrees. There is more wet weather overnight on Wednesday into

:07:12. > :07:17.Thursday. As they could be quite a wet day, with the windy conditions

:07:18. > :07:21.to. Nothing compares to the strength of wind we had last week. Turning

:07:22. > :07:25.more showery as we move towards the end of the week. In a second, we

:07:26. > :07:27.will have the forecast for the United Kingdom for the top good

:07:28. > :07:32.night from us. for the most part on Wednesday, it

:07:33. > :07:45.will turn more unsettled. Whilst across the whole of the

:07:46. > :07:48.country the general weather pattern shows no signs of completely

:07:49. > :07:52.settling down there is some good news. There will be some drier

:07:53. > :07:57.spells over the next couple of days, the wind is not as strong and it

:07:58. > :08:01.will be relatively mild. Cloud tonight, the exception is the
